One of the areas best parks! We climbed on black rocks ( we did not jump off but lots of teens where) we did lots of walking it was so pretty. The water was clear and pretty we looked for rocks and found lots of Agates!

A gem to visit. Scenic views of Lake Superior all around the park. Convenient parking provides easy access to viewpoints and walking paths. I love the walkway up the lake and the rocky beaches.

We watched the sunset here and it was the perfect spot in Marquette to do so! Black rocks were easy to walk out onto, though if you have little kids you'll want to keep them close. Easy to find, easy to drive through the Park, easy to park in multiple areas.

Nice park on Lake Superior. There were a lot of people just sitting in the sun, some having picnics, some out hiking.
Most - were taking turns jumping off black rock into Lake Superior. My daughters jumped in. I, using my wisdom, just watched. The area the girls jumped from appeared to be around 20’ from the surface (maybe more or a little less depending where you jump from.)
Everybody seemed to be having a great time.
Parking was a little tough to find. I was lucky enough to have gotten completely off the road. The vehicle behind me had tires on the road and got a parking ticket.

Our family was only at the park for a few hours, but we enjoyed our experience! The scenery is beautiful and jumping from the rock is exciting and fun! The only caution I have is in regards to parking. Many people park along the roadside because the parking lots are usually full, but I would not park there! After receiving a ticket and inquiring about it, I was told the park is trying to stop people from parking along any roadsides and increasing the number of tickets it gives out. So definitely go to enjoy the views and cliff jumping but make sure to park in a real parking lot!

This is a hidden gem, beautiful 2 mile drive around park with areas to park and view Lake Superior. Areas to picnic, play and enjoy the beach. A wonderful family location.

Worth your time, even if you drive the loop. There are many places to pull off and enjoy the view. On a sunny day, the Lake is awesome. Why travel abroad when you have the Great Lakes?! Water is crystal clear, and cold.

We stopped here on a whim during our fall colors trip. What an on expected find! The colors were beautiful and the scenery Is breathtaking! Make sure to leave extra time in your schedule as this park is very big and there are a lot of areas to explore.

We took some great pictures despite the rain! You have to visit when you’re in the area. It is great to look back at the Superior dome.

Beautiful views of Lake Superior and was able to walk on a pier to view the lighthouse. You can’t walk all the way to the lighthouse but close enough to take a good picture.

We love visiting Presque Isle Park when we come to town. The park is always cleaned and well maintained. We love to take a ride through the park and visit the black rocks.

I have been coming here since I was a child in the 80s. The park has evolved a bit since then, but still has spectacular views and is pedestrian friendly. If you're in Marquette, it's a must.

This is a beautiful hidden gem! And there's no cost to enter. We visited on what we thought was a sunny and calm day, but waves were amazing and surfers were out. Great walking paths along Lake Superior's lakefront.

Beautiful park. We took the couple mile trail hike on a rather balmy 43° day. Very pretty ice formations and beautiful clear water.

Great location, close to everything near the city and harbor, beaches, food, everything! It is well maintained and a great place to visit.

This park gives a quick overview of the UP - in a nutshell. Beautiful settings for weddings, lake viewings, sunsets, and even cliff jumping (preferably only inthe summer).

Beautiful scenery, great hike, circumnavigated the park on foot. Excellent views. No charge for admission. Recommended

GreAt visit good time great trail walk wonderful lake views parking easy light house has great views

I grew up in Marquette, and love spending time at this park. From walking through the woods or out on the break wall, to driving around or getting an ice cream cone, it's a special place. You can check out the cove, black rocks, take in a sunset. So much beauty, everywhere you look!

Beautiful park and something for everyone. Ample parking. Picnic areas, swimming, hiking trails or explore the shoreline, sit for awhile, take in the view and listen to the crashing waves.

Open experience and a very family friendly environment is the safe confines of Marquette. Nice views of Lake Superior with a wide variety of landscapes.

This natural corner is simply magnificent with exceptional views of the lake and its incredibly pure water, which is all the more incredible since Marquette is also an industrial city.
It has a route accessible by car with charming free access with shaded rest areas and obligatory stops such as at the lighthouse which is joined by a long pier.
The first part is done on a flat surface but the second requires the somewhat sporty crossing of a succession of rocks.
Don't miss the stop at "Sunset Point, which is absolutely magnificent during the famous sunset.
Picnics are possible so everything is there to have a most pleasant time.

A must visit park if you're in the area. Absolutely beautiful park right on lake Superior. The only bummer is that you can't walk your dog. She had to stay in the car.

Beautiful park. So well maintained. Easy to walk. Stunning views of Lake Superior. Good access and easy parking. We went on a crystal blue early September day and it was just lovely.

Presque Isle Park is a lovely part just outside of Marquette. It has has nice drive that runs through it leading to great views of the water. Very nice and peaceful.

I came here both evenings I was staying in Marquette. The first evening was just a quick walk out to the pier and checking out a couple spots before heading to the hotel as I had a long drive. On the second evening since the main road around the park was closed to cars, I walked around the entire park seeing all the main spots like the black rocks and sunset point. The pier is a great place for watching the big ships come into the ore docks. There are some hilly spots but not a super difficult hike probably moderate at the most!!!

Nice views of the harbor, the trees were about peak, many larger trees were fully filled out, and it was free to use.

This is an amazing park. We went to jump off the Black Rocks but ended up spending 3 hours there. It was college move-in time so there were tons of college kids just having fun jumping off the rocks. My husband, 15 year old and 9 year old did it several times. The swim over to get back up was easy. (A lot of the college kids climb back up the rocks.). After jumping and watching people jump for a while we headed back to the car but my kids ended up going in the water again and stayed there for 2 hours just walking and swimming in and out of coves. The views of Lake Superior are just amazing- my 15 year old called it majestic so I feel like I won vacation. She said she felt like she was swimming in a fish bowl- the water is so clear and refreshing. We also had fun hunting for rocks! Definitely a highlight of our trip!

Very nice hiking trails and beautiful views from many points along the trail. We even saw deer in the woods.

This is a beautiful park in Marquette. We visited on a Friday evening in August and even though there were tons of other people visiting the park, it was still easy to find a parking spot. The walk down the pier to get a good view of the lighthouse was very pleasant.

We enjoyed spending time here watching the kids swim at Black Rocks and the sunsets. Very nice park. Clean and no problems.

Beautiful view of the lake! Our young kids (ages from 4-8) loved climbing on the rocks and exploring the area. The waves were huge the day we went and we saw people surfing! Highly recommend, even with young kids.

This a great park in the summer but just as enjoyable if you like snow. Trails for skiing or snow shoeing. Views of Lake Superior or into the woods.

We enjoyed the drive around here and the sights out at Black Rock where everyone was jumping off the black rocks. Worth the trip out here to see.

We made this park one of our last minute stops in the middle of our travel to the Porcupine Mountains and are glad we did! The landscape is something you don't usually find in Michigan. The park is large, a road throughout, many places to access Lake Superior with just a short walk. The scenery is just amazing! Very glad we made this part of our trip!

Such a beautiful place! I highly recommend it, but watch out for biting blackflies in the late spring and early summer! We were not expecting so many and they came at us in swarms. They seemed to really be attracted to white cars and clothing.

My husband & I drove through the park, it was very picturesque and peaceful. There's a nice bike and/or walking trail through it. The beach looked a bit rocky but there's a big pavilion for gatherings.

We visited Presque Isle Park in the morning on a lovely day. We hiked to the lighthouse, drove to various vantage points and hiked some short trails. It was beautiful and well maintained.

There's an easy 2 mile loop around this park and we chose to park at the start and walk the whole loop. Nice views of the Lake and we had a blast jumping off Black Rocks. Great place to spend some time while in Marquette!

If you visit Marquette definitely take the drive around Presque Island Park. It is beautiful and you can walk on the beaches or visit the lighthouse. A great place for a picnic!

nice park but large signs No Dogs
so if u have a furry family member dont come here.
Makes u think park people arent too friendly

Driving around this area was so pretty. We came to Marquette for the annual Blues festival which was held at Harbor park. So much fun.

Beautiful lake and rocky beaches. Great for walking and contemplating the water views. Stop the car in any of the belvedere places and walk around. Also discover the beautiful colored rocks in the many small beaches in Lake Superior.

This park is so lovely. It's a great introduction to the beauty of Lake Superior and the Upper Peninsula. There's a road so you can drive slowly through to enjoy the beauty even on a rainy day, and plenty of scenic overlooks to pull over and take photos or have a picnic

We didn’t spend much time in Marquette, so we didn’t have a ton of time to spend at Presque Isle. Nevertheless, we highly enjoyed our time here. Scenery is gorgeous! There are plenty of beaches for swimming or for rock collecting. Gorgeous.

From the lighthouse along the east side to the rock views of Lake Superior off the west, this park does disappoint. The one-way drive was closed to motorized traffic the morning we went which made for an amazing run around the park. It is quiet, well maintained, and the views are second to none. Our yearly jump off Blackrocks into frigid Lake Superior is something we look forward to every visit. Presque Isle is a must-see if you are in the Marquette area.

This park is amazing! Went with my daughter and her family. Easy walk for all including 3 and 4 year old. Definitely worth the time

This city park has nice paved and unpaved trails. Good for hiking or road biking. Note that there are certain days / times when the one way paved road is restricted to non-motorized traffic only. Good for watching sunsets and watching (or participating) people jump of the black rocks into Lake Superior. As an added bonus the park is next to the ore dock and we watched an ore carrier pull in and be loaded.

My family and I really enjoyed our time here. We fed the deer and watched people jumping from the notorious Black Rocks. The paved loop around the park was closed for walkers, which made it a lot safer for my 87-year-old mother to make her way around the park! We also got to watch the sunset on the west side of the park, which was as good as advertised. A very fine park indeed.

The weather wasn’t the best on the day we visited but we had an amazing time exploring Presque Isle. The kids loved the short hikes to the rocks and exploring the beaches. Checked out the black rocks which was cool. Trail are not stroller friendly. Younger children require assistance. Great way to spend the day.

I wanted to visit in the Summer since I had been there in early April. I was dying to go rock hunting. Thinking my grandkids would be bored but that wasn't the case. They loved looking at people jumping off the black rocks. They swam to there hearts content at Pebble beach area. They even got into looking for rocks. But the best part was getting Togos subs and going to Sunset Point to watch the sun go down. It's so beautiful...that one only needs to see it once and it stays with them forever and they will want to see it again and again. I took so many pictures...all so beautiful. Loved in Spring watching the deer come out at dusk like magical creatures coming to see the sun go down also. I can't get enough of this place....I love it.

We had a wonderful day here, starting with walking on the sea wall out to the lighthouse. Later in the afternoon the road to the upper portion of the park opened up and this is not to be missed. There are breathtakingly beautiful views of Lake Superior! Don’t miss it!

Very well done, parking area, can see the ships come in for loading. The drive through has a number of places to park and walk to the water. Huge rock formations are everywhere and there are many picture opportunities. Well taken care of, and there are deer in the area, although we didn't see any. Would come by again, loved walking the rocks.

Presque Isle Park is stunning. It's picture postcard perfect. I couldn't stop videotaping all the gorgeous scenery. You can bike, hike, and swim here. It's also a wonderful place to sit down relax and even enjoy a picnic. What an outdoor paradise. I fell in love with Presque Isle Park immediately. My boyfriend and I love Marquette and Presque Isle Park. One of the most beautiful cities in Michigan. A stunning park!

I think if we had more time, there seemed to be a lot of area to do more. It is right near the lake, would have been cool to see a freighter be in the dock.

Recommend jumping black rocks. Go when it is not rough on the lake and when warmer as the water is cold. So much fun!

The drive around the perimeter of Preque Isle provides some impressive views of Lake Superior. However, I have to admit that I was disappointed to see how worn and tired the park appeared because of its heavy use. We decided to do the Bog Trail which is near the entrance to the park. A posted map showed that it was a loop trail. Along the way, there were several nice interpretive signs. However, the trail itself is not well marked and we took a wrong turn, ending up on a gravel road that led back to the parking lot. The trail could be greatly improved with the addition of some directional signs.

Be sure to take the 3.1 mile drive around the loop of this isle. Be sure to look for the quick right turn off as you descend the hill a short distance away. You will find off to the right the cliffs where the young people jump off the cliffs into the cold water. Then continue past the parking lot off to the left to climb the black rocks both attractive and unique to reach the area where the kids jump off. The whole is scenic as you drive around. Also, you can do some hiking

Nice easy hiking paths with beautiful views! My only regret was not going back to spend more time here.

Beautiful park and views. A must see when visiting Marquette. Bring your camera.
Close to campus and other amenities.

It's a great park to see the views of Lake Superior. You can have a nice picnic plus plenty of locations to people watch like surfers and people jumping from edges of small cliffs into Lake Superior. Plenty of areas to swim or just stroll around the park.

We were visiting from Florida, we had read that it was a beautiful place near the city. We arrived at the park with our 2 dogs only to find signs everywhere that dogs are not allowed... so unfortunatley we couldnt really experience the park except for a drive through, but it really is beautiful..heavily wooded with some nice trails. There seem to be a lot of attractions in the UP which arent dog friendly.

Beautiful scenery and a gorgeous park with nice hiking trails. Can be a little chilly along the high wind areas.

Don't miss this park. It has forest hikes, a pier into Lake Superior, a sandy beach, picnic sites, lava flows, cliff diving, the best stone skipping ever and so much more. Wow! So much fun right in town.

A must-see when visiting the Marquette area is Presque Isle. Wonderful surroundings and beautiful walking trails around the island. We ended up watching the sunset over Lake Superior from Sunset Point. If you have a chance you need to visit here.

Our family bikes the loop and joyed the stops to climb on rocks, skip rocks, and watch the rock jumpers. Lots of rocks. There is a sandy beach which is a bit of a hike through the woods to get to. Great summer day activity and easy-moderate bike ride around, kids are 7 & 9 and decent riders.
We parked in a fairly empty lot under 1/2 mile from entrance.

My husband and I spent a cloudy afternoon at the park walking around and taking photos of the sites. We really enjoyed the light house and the black rocks area.

Beautiful views of Lake Superior! I found it relaxing & took many pictures. We tried hiking but the mosquitoes were too much for the kids. I definitely recommend stopping here if you’re visiting Marquette!

Such a beautiful drive around this island. Obviously a popular place for the local folks to come picnic and play. We did the drive around and stopped several times to take pictures of the cliffs. Just fascinating. The inside of the island was so very pretty also. Really enjoyed this drive.

Never been to a municipal park that packs so much into a small piece of land! You can hike, bike or drive the 2-mile loop around this peninsula park. Along the way, you can see magnificent views of Lake Superior, see a lighthouse, scramble around (or jump off and swim) at Black Rocks, have a picnic lunch or just relax on the beach. Fun for families, couples or solo travelers. Great for nature lovers, photographers or any adventuresome vacationers. Best of all, the park is right by downtown Marquette, and, since it's all jam-packed into a small property, you can do as much or as little as you want and still have time for other activities on the same day. Would highly recommend if you're in the Marquette area. It's a must visit!

nice park. didn't explore all of it due to time, but what we did experience was beautiful. be sure to get out of the car and take a walk.

Me and my teenage sons had a great time jumping off the cliff's into the water with a few of the other locals. Definitely a must try when visiting.

Nice place to take a ride to possibly see wildlife and see nice views of Lake Superior. Make sure you check out the times that you can drive through as the hours change. The Visitors Center can help with that.

We only stopped in for a short time. We enjoyed the views from the breakaway and along the coastline. There was a little nature center & lots of areas to picnic or have small gatherings. Well kept and clean. Area itself has a number of areas to stop and enjoy. The town itself is only a few minutes away and looked great.

Every night we stay in Marquette we make sure to take the drive around the island. We almost always see deer, and last time we saw woodpeckers and fox. So peaceful!

One of our favorite places to visit while in Marquette! Love walking out on the breakwater and the black rocks. Get a sub sandwich at Togo's and enjoy the view. Don't forget a Jilbert's ice cream before you leave!

Beautiful park with lots of trees/ trails. Such a beautiful peaceful place with awesome views of the water. Definitely a must when in Marquette!!!

Beautiful fall colors and Lake Superior sunsets mid October. If you are visiting Marquette MI, do not miss a stop here.

There’s something serene and magical about this place. Hidden paths, not many people (not in June when we visited), nice beach areas to meander.

It's almost like there are "little parks" within this park. You can visit the breakwall, sit on a beach, enjoy a wooded hike or heck out the black rocks. There were several deer when we visited. It's a large area so even on a busy day people are spread out at all of the different locations. We love stopping here and listening to the waves crash!

Great views, picnic tables and pavillion. Nice place to stop for lunch and a walk along the shore. Clean washrooms

It is a great drive with several scenic stops and paths to walk. You can also watch the iron ore get ready to drop into freighters (we weren’t fortunate enough to see that). It doesn’t have to take very long if you’re stretched for time.

A visit to Marquette would not be complete without visiting Presque Isle. Much of the beauty can be seen from a car, but there are many walking paths and vantage points to see beautiful Lake Superior and the famed Black Rocks. The only downside is it’s quite busy, so it can be hard to find a parking spot sometimes. A must see.

Nice drive around perimeter. Looks like good trails for hiking/biking. Lots of beach access. Nice views. Plenty of parking,

Whether you drive or bike the 4 mile loop and stop at various spots to take in the view, you'll be left amazed. Be sure to check out Black Rock to watch Cliff jumpers, or be a jumper. If you have time to arrive at sunset point with a bag of warm Pasties from Muldoon's Pastie Shop, the views are even more memorable!

This park is truly a gem. Not only is there great areas to walk, but just to sit and relax. The black rock area was so fun to see and to watch people jumping of the cliffs. The drive up into the wooded area is peaceful and a great way to unwind!

You can walk the sea wall/breaker wall. That was very cool. Drive around the park and on the back end is beautiful and a place to walk or just take it in.

The 2.2 mile loop walk was lovely, and you could alternate between walking the trail along the lake and the one way road for cars, though they had blocked it off so cars couldn’t drive the loop while we were there, which was nice.

Great views of lake Superior and lots of trails w/wildlife. Walked some trails and out the pier along the ore loading dock on the east side. The north side had lots of rock formations from wave action.

Very cool park, easy to navigate. We loved jumping off the Black Rocks and that area was easy to find and be able to have someone watch across the way. Water was chilly after jumping but very refreshing!

If you are in Marquette by choice, there is nothing not to like about Presque Isle. It is accessible by foot, bike or auto, and times autos are prohibited from driving the perimeter of the island so people can walk the roads without competition from vehicles. There are great views of the lake and rock formations and places to swim. I would just caution the beginner roller blader to not skate. There is a hill that will peel your skin off if you can't stop. enjoy the park and the natural beauty and have a Jilbert's ice cream at the end when they are open.

Number One thing to do in Marquette for a good reason. The beauty of this setting is amazing, the Lake Superior views stunning. The black rocks at the tip of Presque isle Park stirred something primordial in me, like I was looking at the beginning of the earth. Actually, I was, as these are some of the oldest rocks on earth. The drive around the park is one way, and narrow. There are some small, one-car parking pull-outs. Also a larger parking area at Black Rocks. I'm sure it can get very crowded out there at times. We were able to squeeze in on a mid-August Saturday night, to view an awesome sunset. The first part of the park, where you enter, has picnic facilities and a pavilion. There was a wedding happening there the night we visited. There is also an ice cream and snack concession in the park. Don't miss Presque Isle Park!

Great for fall color....having a picnic lunch....lovely scenic views....places to walk/bike ride! Love Presque Isle!

Simply one if the best places on earth So beautiful it’s sbdoltrky a must visit and soak in the wonder of the UP.

Great hiking and beaches. We parked our car and walked through the woods (bring bug spray!). And then spent time at the old playground with a real old fashioned merry go round. Great way to spend a few hours with young kids.

It's my first time up here, this place is so beautiful The weather was not quite cooperating but it was beautiful scenery, nice little walk around the rocks, Nice drive great trails.

We drove through here to see some sites and sites we saw! The views at the stopping points of this place are phenominal! I would definitely go back again and spend more time!!

Worth your time. Take soem pictures at Black Rocks, go for a walk, enjoy the amazing scenery. This is the number 1 place to see in Marquette.

Previous reviews are correct. Easy to walk and convenient parking along the route. Sunset only enhanced an already beautiful area and the cool temps and fading light brought out the deer.

Presque Isle Park is incredible.
We spent time hiking around the entire peninsula on an easy trail with just a few smaller inclines and valleys. This is a great way to see the entire park (including the black rocks and lots of amazing Lake Superior views). It's also a great way to get an actual parking spot (so you don't have to worry about getting a ticket). The park was busy, but the hiking trail was not.
We loved the park so much that we came back a second time.
If you are visiting Marquette, don't miss this one!
Tip:
Peter White Drive is restricted to non-motorized traffic at certain times during the week, but you can still walk (or bike) through this area.

If you are into cliff jumping, this is a must. Water is cold! This is a very popular place with a lot of people at all times of the day.

Biked to and through Presque Isle Park early-ish one morning. Delightful! It is connected to downtown via a bike path that runs parallel to the lake.

I honestly didn't know what to expect when we visited this park and I didn't do any research. All I can say was my face hurt from smiling from all the beauty! This place is a must see!

Beautiful area with great hiking, walk out to lighthouse that is difficult over large rocks but beautiful view and neat lighthouse; Different paths to hike. We parked closer to sunset cliffs - area where people jump off of cliffs into Lake Superior! It was the favorite part of our week- so fun and invigorating to jump into the lake from the cliff!

If you are in Marquette, don't miss this stop! Wonderful hiking trails, amazing views of Lake Superior, and the spot to jump off Black Rocks is so cool!

Just a fast stop to strike it off our to do list . . . but worthy of a longer stay. Peaceful and serene with lovely scenery. Will return when we have more time to spend.

What pretty little place to drive, run, bike or walk through. There are a lot of little pull offs were you may park and enjoy the view, take a walk or perhaps enjoy a meal.

We took the loop road through the park. It was most enjoyable. We pulled off the road many times to take pictures of the leaves with fall colors beside and over the road. Driving to the park is fun. There is a nice overlook for the tacconite pellet loading facility that is still in use. Nearby there is a grouping of three small art galleries. Take a drive or take a walk and enjoy this park in the fall.

There is a well worn trail that led us counter clockwise between the road and Lake Superior. There are visible barriers to keep hikers away from any perilous drop offs. There is safe passage to water's edge on the northeast corner and due north (black rocks). Even with our meandering, we were back at the car in 90 minutes.

This was not on our agenda of things to do but we found we had some time after dinner and decided to drive through this beautiful park. When we return we plan on spending more time here.

This park was once (a very long time ago) an island. It is easily reachable from Marquette. It has many hiking trails and an approximately three-mile drive around the perimeter. Gorgeous "red" beaches with rocks and stones of various sizes containing iron. Beautiful vistas looking upon Lake Superior.

Its a great place to explore with some beautiful views over Lake Superior. 1 thing that would be better is if there were bathrooms or porta potties near the Blackrocks area.

Did the car drive loop and found several places to stop and walk around the area. Walking paths are well established and easy to travel. We went on a Saturday and it was very busy! There is an area to go swimming which was also very busy.

A beautiful park with its own lighthouse, gazebo, clean bathrooms and beach. Lots of people enjoying a picnic lunch and social distancing with masks.
The breakwall allowed a breezy walk towards the lighthouse surrounded by clear water. Just a gorgeous view! Free entrance to park.

I'm sure it is awesome and beautiful...however, we were very disappointed when we drove there to find out that we could not take our best bud, leashed or not. We live over 6 hours away and were looking forward to the hike. Needless to say we went hiking elsewhere.

I did not want to leave. Throughout this park you have many opportunities to enjoy nature while walking paths or checking various lookouts! It is so pristine and you can spend a whole day enjoying this park. I love how the contrast of industrial and nature merge together. So beautiful!!!!!

My daughter and I drove the loop around Presque Isle, stopping in multiple places to check out the views. One the south end, there is a breakwater with a light at the point. You also get great views of the ore dock. We stopped at the lookout as we headed to the north end of the isle which had some great views of the lake. On the north end, there is really cool coastlines to walk with rocks and little alcoves. To the northwest, you get views of the islands in the distance. Down the west side was shoreline and a really nice pavilion (bathrooms). We did not hike into the interior of the island.

very beautiful. easy to get to. fun to watch freighters coming in to the ore docks. watch out for the deer.

We have visited this park two different times and both times, it was wonderful! Gorgeous views, good hiking, beaches nearby.

We visited the black racks over Labor Day weekend it was fantastic. I would definitely go again. The views are spectacular, if you are interested in diving off the black rocks bring your suit.

Although the weather was cold for June, 7, this still is a very pleasant place to visit. You can spend hours just sitting and enjoying nature. Due to the coronavirus, the restrooms were not open. Just make sure you do a pit stop before heading there. It’s not like it is a long way from anything but it is nice to know beforehand that the virus has curtailed certain niceties.

We really enjoyed this park! Plenty of trails to walk, benches to sit and enjoy the view. There is also a lighthouse you can walk out to.

Beautiful park to talk a walk or drive through. The paths were well kept and clean. Nice place to have a picnic.

Stopped here with my daughter on our annual UP trip. What an absolute GEM of a state park. We walked the loop of the park, ventured out on the Lighthouse walkway, and checked out the black rocks. Just a great experience!

You can drive the 2-ish mile loop around the border of the park or you can hike or bike it. Highly recommend the hike if you’re able. Amazing views!

There are places to stop along the one-way drive. The park loop is closed to cars for runners in the AM. Check out the black rocks leap

It's such a beautiful spot. I totally get why people move back here. The rocks were great we really enjoyed people jumping off - but the water was soooooo cold!!!! Definitely a must see if you're heading that way.

This park was beautiful, and clean. The views from this park are stupendous. There's also a nice cliff jumping spot that is definitely worth it. The water is beautiful and clear. It's a nice hike around the park. This is one of the must-see attractions in Marquette.

You wouldn't know it was there by just driving around Marquette. You have to look for it, but it's totally work the trip. Take a jump from black rock, or have lunch on Picnic Rock. In winter, check out the surfers. Yes - SURFERS in the bay, in winter, with ice hanging off their face hair. It's a trip.

Pretty park, scenic drive around it. We saw two deer. It was raining, but we still enjoyed it. Many places to pull off and enjoy the scenery.

Beautiful park with lighthouse views and watched an iron ore carrier being loaded by Cleveland Cliffs, great view. Nice cliff side walking path and loop road. Beautiful cliff views. Plenty of parking, picnic tables, grass areas, beaches, and a marina.

Beautiful gem at the top of Marquette. We enjoyed climbing down to the rocky beaches, climbing around on Blackrocks, and watching the cliff jumpers. Amazing Superior views.

The walk was so amazing as you had the scenery to look out at! Almost didn’t go here but I am so glad we did!

Must see! Wear warm clothes and cleats if you plan to walk across the rocks in the winter. The walk there takes about 15 minutes and is real pretty during the winter. In the summer you can drive to the black rocks.

This is a beautiful part of Marquette. I’ve been visiting for over 50 years. In the summer months, its very busy with lots of people around. Spring and fall, during the week, early in the mornings, far less people and my favorite time to visit. The views are wonderful and the lake is so clear! I hope we keep it that way.

The drive around is very nice. We were there in the middle of the day but I suspect being there to watch a sunset would be awesome. Plan to get there early since parking could fill up quick.

Beautiful, well maintained park on Lake Superior. Be sure you see and climb on the Black Rocks. Spectular view of the coastline. If you are brave enough, go jump off the cliff into the brisk waters of Lake Superior.

The unusual ore dock is what lead us here from the beach. We saw a freighter come into this strange looking thing and had to see it. Chutes are used for unloading ore pellets from the train cars on top. It was interesting and then we saw Presque Isle A walk to the lighthouse, ride around the park, beach, and black rock area. Views of Lake Superior are beautiful.

Presque Isle Park has beautiful views, enclosed little beaches that may be hard to get into. Kids and adult can enjoy the Volcanic rock formations that line the coast; jumping from one big plate of rocks to another. One can even be surprised to find frogs wandering in the remnants of tide pools. College kids can even be found jumping into the cold waters of Lake Superior even on a cold cloudy summer day.

We came back not once, not twice, but three times during our 3 day vacation. It was gorgeous! The hiking, sunrise, and sunset were awesome. And my husband loved the cliff jumping! (To get to black rocks, take the road all the way almost to sunset park, then park in the -full- parking lot on the right. Walk out to the rocks and walk right to get to the cliffs!)

The residents of Marquette are lucky to have this park. I’d come every day if I lived close. We came here both nights we were in town. It’s so beautiful. Easy places to park. Lots of places to be social distanced from others. Lots of great spots to watch the sunset. Was so nice just to sit and listen to the waves. Our kids enjoyed it too.

Stopped randomly on our road trip and so glad we did!! How amazing and what gorgeous views of Lake Superior! It’s a must stop!!

Closed to vehicular traffic on certain days, a great bike ride or easy hike. Beaches off the main road where you can picnic or swim. No dogs allowed unfortunately

We drove to most of the lookout points and stopped at almost every single one. Felt bad for the people who drove past a couple of the best ones (see pictures). Blackrocks was worth it alone.

The public park is on the coast of Lake Superior. It covered by a natural forest with marshes, rocky areas, coves and beaches. The main route through for cars is the Peter White Drive running around the edge of the peninsula with multiple footpaths and hiking trails running through the middle of the park. Facilities include two picnic areas with restrooms, children's playground and a shelter. No dogs are allowed. The park is open everyday from early morning till late evening with a slightly earlier closure in the winter. Note, there are times when cars are excluded and the drive is only available to walkers.

Some of the roads were closed to maintenance on our drive thru. On a warm summer day- would be great for a walk or a picnic.
Views of light house and ore loading sites
along the way

Great views! No restrooms on site! Picnic tables available Can walk pier Ample opportunity for great photos

This is a gorgeous place to visit. You can walk or hike, or you can drive your car around a paved loop to catch some pretty views. This is a very popular place to watch the sunset as evidenced by the number of cars that pull over and park to watch the sun go down.

Presque Isle Park is a lovely, very natural park surrounded by Lake Superior in Michigan's upper peninsula. The sunset view was fabulous.

Stumbled onto this park after a work meeting and was not disappointed. Absolutely beautiful! I will go back. I recommend autumn because the leaves are amazing.

We were married there 3` years ago in a Gazebo! The park is enjoyed by many and the scenery is spectacular!

Went here with my husband and son. Beautiful day to walk around and there was a cool walkway of boulders to a light house on Lake Superior. The lake is so pretty. Being from Oklahoma it was great to see clear beautiful water! Definitely recommend

We’ve been visiting the park for years on Family vacations. Beautiful! Love to take a pastie and have a picnic by the ore dock.

Great view of the bay and out into the lake. The lighthouse at the end of a long artificial point of land is great. Other views of the lake as well. Good for picnics and relaxing as well.

We enjoyed walking around this peninsula. The water is cold for swimming, but we found several places to sit and read and rest. Very pleasant!

What a beautiful park! Visited several times durin our stay in Marquette. Loved our walks, picnics, and the photo opps are amazin! Easy to find. Plenty of parkin. Will visit again, if ever back close by!

Absolutely loved this park. Right on water. So many cool rock formations. Could stay there all day. Lots of trails and places to explore. Can't wait to go back.

This is the highlight of Marquette. The nature, the scenery, the sunsets!! are all beautiful!!
Make sure you watch the sunset on the west side of the island. The deer are always fun to see. If you have kids-take then to the park. There are numerous concerts and events held in this area.
Don’t miss this park.

We rode our bikes from our hotel to this park to see the lighthouse. It's located on an interesting cement pier that you can walk out on. The park is very nice with paved trails (mostly), picnic areas, beach-type areas, and great views.

On a trip through the UP on a family trip, we spent several days in the Marquette area. One of the highlights of the area is the Black Rock Cliffs in Presque Isle where you can jump off the cliffs into Lake Superior. My husband and I did not do it, but my daughter, son-in-law and three teenage grandsons did. One of those things to talk about.

Beautiful park to visit. Great views. Very relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Places for swimming, kayaking and SUP.

This place was great, nice people, I’d go back again and again. Not safe for small children unless on a leash haha or on safer trails not near cliffs.

Kids ages 14, 11, 7 and 3 and we all enjoyed the views and the lagoon we found with rocks to throw for days! Pristine waters, clear and cool!

This was a lovely city park which is surrounded by water (although not an island.) The northern tip of the island had many rocky beaches to climb. The local college students were there jumping off of the high rock formations into the frigid water. It was fun to watch them! We spent a lot of time walking the black rocks, and cliffs of the north point.

Stopped to walk to the lighthouse but only made it partway due to weather. Drove around the rest of the park and it was very clean with beautiful vistas.

There is alot you can do in this park: Playgrounds, Picnics, Beach, Hiking Trails, etc. There are also a couple of places that are great for rock collecting. You could easily spend an entire day in this park.

Had a great time hiking the trail around the park. Lots of gorgeous views and places to scramble around on the rocks and explore. Started out during the time that cars are prohibited but by the time we got to the end of the hike it was open again, highly recommend if you're hiking to try to be there while the road is closed, it's so nice! Also came back another day and did some wandering around the interior trails looking for the infamous albino deer (no luck). Really loved this park, would have come back to Sunset Point for a sunset bit just couldn't stay up that late lol.

This is a stop we will always come back to. The views are amazing. There are trails to hike and bike . I took a lot of pictures, seems I had a hard time not taking them. There is a sandy beach on one side and lots of rocks on the other. This stop will not disappoint if you love water and rock views.

Loved this place! No words to describe Michigan’s beauty! This place was breathtaking...An absolute must stop, Michigan bucket list place!

Easy access and plenty of parking. Found some unique rocks on the beach near the breakwater. Recreated a childhood picture at the overlook along the drive - beautiful view of the cliffs and lake. The only thing I did not like was the "no dog" policy as I like places that allow you to bring your pets.

Spent several hours here and all we can say it's amazing. It offers numerous view points of lake superior and plenty of sights and picnic areas. A 2 mile round trip throughout gives you a great Northwoods feel.
Enjoy
Snowman :0)

Pristine water surrounds this beautiful, natural park. Several trails available and areas to picnic.

Love that it’s a small park with so many different points of interest. Love watching the deer grazing by the pavilion. The black rocks are such a special interest for so many people, especially Northern students who must take the plunge ! The breakwater is an interesting walk that can sometimes become scary. The beach has the most beautiful white sand that makes it a pleasure to enjoy the fresh chilly water of the clear, clean Lake Superior !
I

We rode bikes along the Shoreline trail to Presque Isle Park. We were there when they close the road to cars so it was a great time to ride the trail! You can also walk the road. There are scenic points along the trail. The views were awesome! Highly recommend!

An absolutely beautiful park on the outskirts of town. Friends of ours missed this next part, so please pay attention! 😀
As you enter the park continue straight and follow the one way loop drive through the woods! You will come to a parking area, so stop, get out and walk to the famous Black Rocks! It is an out of this world moon scape. The black granite looks more like a volcanic deposit from millions of years ago! And if you dare, and happen to visit during the two weeks of summer, you can jump off the cliffs into the water. Apparently it's a local right of passage! We were just here in fall, as you'll see from one of my pictures. We believe a local artist sorted the beautiful fall leaves and carefully placed them in the tidal pools! Take an afternoon and make a visit to this excellent local park!

We visited multiple times while on vacation here. Gorgeous lake views from many areas of the park. Hiking trails and picnic areas available as well. Definitely a must visit when you're in the area.

This was fine. This is a very popular spot with various trails, most people coming are heading straight for the beach, so if you're into hiking go somewhere else.

Great for a nice leisurely stroll, watching the sunset, and enjoying the views of Lake Superior. Black rocks is a must when you are in town.

Every couple of years, we have a family reunion and have a pasty picnic at the park.
(We usually freeze to death but, hey, it's a tradition). Very few people are out and walking in the park in October so it makes it a wonderful time to visit. Make sure you stop at the black rocks pull out and stroll over towards the water.
Excellent hour or two in Marquette

Spent an afternoon hiking and enjoying the scenic views. Black Rocks and Black Rock Beach were really cool to see. Nice for picnic lunch. We were somewhat disappointed by the other beach as it is right next to power plant

Always beautiful and clean. Beaches are wonderful and I love the access to emergency equipment if needed.

Finished out a day of mtn biking with a few jumps into Lake Superior. Easy to do, not too high, and water was about 68 degrees so very pleasant. Parking can be tight and the area is closed to newly entering cars on Weds from 6 pm to 8 pm.

The whole family did it - 17 & 15 yr old boys and a 10 yr old daughter - even Mom & Dad! Really cool and safe jump from about 20 feet into the crystal clear (and refreshingly chilly) Lake Superior waters near Marquette, MI!

We had a nice visit to this beautiful park. Nice walking trails. Wonderful views! Walked out to the lighthouse.

We have spent hours enjoying the park, from the ore dock to black rock.A must see !!!!!!Take the time to experience this special area on Lake Superior

Beautiful park! There are many spots to enjoy all the beautiful views of Lake Superior. People can watch the freighters come in and off load iron ore and other raw materials. There is a scenic one way road that skirts the peninsula with lookout stops along the way for beautiful views of Lake Superior.

Beautiful views of Lake Superior. Easy walking paths. The road around the island has many places to stop and explore. Had great fun watching the surfers on blustery day.

Loved this place. Free to get in. We walked along the black rocks and jumped in the water. (It’s VERY cold). Everyone enjoyed this spot. Unique experience.

It was a neat place to hike and see beautiful scenery. You can spend a little time or a lot depending on how much walking you want to do. Nice place to sit on a bench and read or watch the waves.

Beautiful and scenic park. We loved walking around the lake shore. Pretty trails and a lot of places to relax. The beach looked nice as well although we didn’t use it.

Nice park all year. The views are great even if you dont get out of the car. Would be a beautiful place for a wedding or party

We were fortunate enough to be in town on a day where they close the park to vehicle traffic. You can walk along the road or take an unpaved trail closer to the shoreline for some great views of the town and lake. There are some benches near the north end of the island and we saw some wetsuited surfers along the western shore enjoying some big waves in a windy day. Very nice hike.

This is a must visit, stunningly beautiful. Jump off the rocks at blackrock a the far end of the park.

We visited the park in the late afternoon of the only night were we staying in Marquette. It appears to be a nice park with hiking trails and beaches along Lake Superior. Very pretty. Saw a pretty sunset. We walked a ways out onto the jetty, but did not get to the lighthouse at the end. Wish we had more time to spend here.

We had a great time waling around the park. The scenery is wonderful and the park is very well kept up.

This city park was one of the highlights of our visit. We followed the walking trail around the perimeter of the park. Great views! Stop at the famous Black Rocks and jump off. Went back in the evening for the sunset. Great place to enjoy what Marquette has to offer.

We loved this short loop. We drove but would be great for walking or biking as well. They do block the road off at various times through the week so it’s safer for non-motor traffic. Black Rocks was beautiful and fun for cliff jumping. Water was very cold compared to other parts of superior but fun if you like more recreation!

Great place ...... we (family) frequented most every day. Fun to walk around the isle, skip rocks, watch the ships come in, black rocks ...
Miss it. I love Lake Superior

Nice close area to hike and view Lake Superior. Part of the main road was blocked to winter traffic, but that just made the hiking more enjoyable.

There were lots of places to stop to take in the beautiful view. Not a lot of walking required to get to some of them so good for younger children. You can walk out toward the lighthouse, which was fun but a little chilly when we went!

A beautiful lakeside park. The road through the park is one-way and you will exit in the same area you enter. The steep turnoff towards the lake where you can park and explore the Black Rocks is a must, but is not an excursion for anyone with mobility issues. There is not any signage we saw regarding the Black Rocks, but had been briefed on the sharp turnoff & adjacent parking area prior to our visit. There is a lovely lodge along the route with clean restrooms.

Had Exchange Club Thankyou dinner at pavilion. Wonderful place to hold an event and also watched deer in area of old zoo. Great place to hang out.

I've been going here since I was knee-high to a deerfly. Walking the trails. Climbing the rocks. Even venturing out on the breakwall to the lighthouse (ah, the ignorance of youth).
There is beauty around every turn - lake views, moon-like rock formations, towering trees and colorful flowers, and dramatic bluffs, ledges, and cliffs. You might even see folks cliff diving into a cove area. Odds are, you'll spy a deer or two, too.
There are picnic and grilling areas, a bandshell with summer concerts, a snack shack, and a swimming beach for those brave enough to wade into Lake Superior. It has ski trails and plenty of awesome snowy views during the winter.
Do not miss this gem when visiting Marquette. And do yourself a favor: walk it, don't drive it. Enjoy!

I recently visited Presque Isle Park in Marquette on a Sunday afternoon upon arriving to the area on my U.P. vacation. This park is simply beautiful with its location right along Lake Superior! I did not feel there was a whole lot of walking required, either, but you can choose to do more hiking if you wish. I enjoyed just sitting and watching the lake for a while, and I enjoyed walking out near the lighthouse. At a certain point, it just becomes large rocks leading to the lighthouse, so I only ventured out a little further at that point, since I was not wearing the most stable shoes that day. I also enjoyed walking on the small beach and watching the waves lapping up on shore. This was a great first activity for when I got to Marquette, and it got me right to Lake Superior! I was in the car for a good 3+ hours to get to Marquette from my previous destination in central Wisconsin, so it was good to get out and stretch my legs some! It was kind of a cool day, so it was comfortable putting on a light jacket to walk around. I enjoyed my time at Presque Isle Park, and it was beautiful!

We drove and stopped by. Nice view of the bay. On that day there were 10-foot waves so it was pretty awesome. The locals jump off into the lake from a large outcrop of a rock. We found one that had the number 64 written on it so we assume this was the one. Worth the drive on Lakeshore Drive.

No matter what time of year this park offers views and feeling of getting away even though it's right in town. The water , the rocks, een the people, all good stuff. So grateful it's here.

What a beautiful park. We drove thru and got out at various stops. We enjoyed the Black Rocks area. Take time to enjoy!

I have been taking my lunch break their all week! Just a beautiful place to sit and relax. Very cool you must check out the black rocks.

Great place to visit. Easy access by auto. Many interesting vistas & photo ops. Good place for picnics & hiking trails. Something for everyone in family.

No pool or Water Slide - been gone for MANY years. There are plenty of things to see - the Big Lake - ore dock and boats - ice cream store and public restrooms. Bring a sweater - can be cool if the breeze is off the lake. ENJOY - leave only footprints

Did the auto tour and stopped and got out several times at lookouts. Beautiful views. Wish we had more time to do some hiking.

This is a neat park. You can drive through and there are parking lots along the way for you to stop and get out. Signs say dogs are not allowed out side of your vehicle. But I did take my dog out to walk down by Sunset Point and then down on the beach where no one was. I also did see a couple of other dogs around the Sunset Point/ Black Rocks area .Very pretty park lots to see!

This a beautiful park to visit, lots of good hiking and beaches. You can walk out to the lighthouse if you’re brave enough to go out on the rocks or you can chill and enjoy the views from the beach.

So pretty with hiking trails along Lake Superior. Lots of places to stop and have a picnic. Watch people divide off of the black rock in the summer. Very relaxing!

I love this place I attended NMU back in the early 80,s . Iused to come here all the time and go cliff diving here . The water is so cold you don't just walk in. And if you swim to a rock or somewhere far ir takes your breath away. The scenery is just beautiful . I was lucky to go back this past summer and its till how I remember it. .

My wife and I rode our bikes to Presque Isle from our homeaway with our two puppies in tow in a trailer. It took about 15 minutes to get there. Once we got there we saw that dogs had to stay in enclosed vehicles. That eliminated the possibility of getting them out for exercise at any of the lookout points. We went on a Saturday morning when motor vehicles weren’t allowed. Made for a quiet ride. It was morning so the sun was to our disadvantage over the east side anyway. So we kept going. We made a stop on the west side about 3/4 the way through. We enjoyed watching the waves lap against the rocks. With a 10 minute stop for pictures and wading, it took about a half hour to get around the island. A few hills but not strenuous. Afterwards we took our dogs to an unofficial beach where there weren’t any “no dogs allowed” signs. (South beach in Marquette allows dogs).
Advice: leave the dogs back at your accommodations if you want to do more than just see the place.

This is an amazing place to visit. There is a circular road that has many pull off spots. You must see "Black Rock". You shouldn't ever miss this spot,,,, ever!

Despite the rain this is a gorgeous park with lots to see. Views of the lake are incredible. Well worth the drive.

Every summer as a child we would often go here to have lunch, sit by Lake Superior and watch the freighters being loaded at the nearby ore docks. After all these years, it's still a great place to go. Beautiful walkways, splendid views, a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of downtown Marquette.

This Island park is all seasons with hiking, walking, cycling on the road, birding, skiing and snowshoeing.

We hiked the approximately 2-mile loop trail around the park, and I would highly recommend. It is pretty easy, with many overlooks to Lake Superior. We enjoyed checking out the basalt rocks and watching some younger folks cliff jump into Lake Superior. Not too long, but definitely worth it. Recommend!

This is a must see place for any visitor to Marquette. Try and go when they are loading an ore boat as that is a distinctly "Marquette experience".

Presque Isle Park is a beautiful park that overlooks Lake Superior. There are walking trails and picnic areas. Make time to visit when in Marquette.

The park has parking and a one way loop road. There is al as o a hiking trail around the tops of the cliffs. The cliffs were well marked for safety. Excellent views! Black to rock point reminded me of Maine (awesome). I'd never seen orange licken before. Great shoreline area to explore. I imagine it could get crowded during peak season.

A very pretty park if you want to go for a walk, a bike ride or just to see the beautiful scenery. The black rocks, on Lake Superior, is also a great place to go when in that area. Fun for everyone.

We took a two mile walk along the east side on the trail. There were some beautiful views. The trail is not paved, but they do have a small road that is paved that you can walk (but not get water views). I would say this is an easy trail overall and manageable for most walkers. Some tree roots and short climbs. Plenty of shade if you are looking for a shady walk. After our walk, we drove over to the west side and that trail appears to be paved, at least part way. We did walk out most of the way to the light house. It is a narrowd concrete jetty that two people could walk side by side at most. You may experience a bit of vertigo on it. The last third of the way to the lighthouse is over large boulders. We chose not to climb them due to balance issues. Quite a few benches and picnic tables along the way if you choose to pack a lunch.

This park is a favorite place to walk and enjoy the views. The Blackrocks area is unique. There is always a chance of seeing wildlife. If you are crunched for time, drive through rather than walking, it is so worth the time.

We just stopped to grill out. It was very pretty. The walk to the lighthouse was fun too. The rocks are easy going about the first half of the way but the get really hard the second half. Only try it at your own peril.

We visited twice on our trip. The first day was rainy but we walked to beach, watched people jump off cliffs and saw surfers. The second day we walked out to the lighthouse and spent more time on the beach.

One of the nicest parks I think we have ever encountered. Something for everyone. Marquette has something to be proud of. We were there like 3 times in 2 days.

Hike around the Isle in an hour and you'll have some gorgeous views! You can also bike there from town and have a great experience as well.

Several stopping points to view Superior. Many great walking paths. No bikes allowed on the paths but the road is OK.

Beautiful park! Great place to watch the sunset. Loved watching people cliff jump at blackrocks. I actually wished I’d brought a swimsuit to join them! Normally I think of cliff jumping as super unsafe and terrifying, but the rocks here actually don’t seem as tall or scary as I was picturing. I wish I would have done it. I see why it’s a popular spot! A word of warning though, especially if you’re there around sunset or when it’s crowded - you MUST park in a marked parking area. The signs tell you not to block traffic but don’t specifically say no parking on the road. The small lot at sunset point was full and everyone else was parking along the side of the road, so we did it too. Not blocking traffic at all. However, right around sunset a cop came through and wrote parking tickets for every car along the road. Must have been at least 30 of us. Maybe we could have fought it since the signs weren’t super clear, but only being in town for a few days it just wasn’t worth it. I suspect the city banks on this and makes hundreds of dollars every night in the summer going out there and writing tickets to all the tourists. You’ve been warned! Find a designated parking area and walk to wherever you’re trying to get to!

Too chilly for us to get out and do much...but the loop was a relaxing and enjoyable drive. Many others were out having fun. Definitely worth a spin!

Lighthouse was awesome. Beautiful cliffs and trails. Not dog friendly, would have been 5 stars otherwise.

Very nice scenic beach. Beautiful rocks. All kinds of designs to them but no agates. At least we couldn’t find any 🤪. Beautiful area!!

Our GPS accidentally took us the wrong place, and we walked 2.8 miles to get there (and back again). But it was ok. The entire walk was really nice, facilities along the way, a mix of terrain.

Short easy hike. Anyone could do it. Also can drive and see as well. Doesn’t take long at all. We would go back.

Beautiful park that is easy to get to from downtown Marquette. There are lovely paths for walking or biking with places to stop to take in the picturesque views. Definitely would recommend.

Great place to have a beautiful outdoor wedding! It's also nice for a hike, to see some wildlife or just sit and listen to the waves of Lake Superior.

Drive through and stop along the way to see the waterfront. Years ago you could see deer but I couldn’t find them anymore, only a sign.

I grew up in Marquette, went for a drive "around the Island" as we called it. It was a once or twice thing a week. Beautiful.

This is a must do when in the UP. I loved this park. If staying in Marquette or Munising, you need to go here. Make sure to wear or take a swimsuit and a towel! Black rock beach is here and you will want to jump off the rocks or regret it for not doing it later.

Presque Isle is such a beautiful place to enjoy Lake Superior. The park has so many thing to offer from hiking, swimming, or just relaxing. Nevertheless, let me just show some scenery photos here.

This is a good place to go for a picnic or just to spend a couple hours hiking around the pennisula. You can cast for lake trout off the breakwall if you like to fish. When the weather is warm we like to jump off the cliffs at the blackrocks at the end ot the park. But beware the water is always cold.

Presque Isle Park is a must see for visitors and a favorite of locals. Beautiful natural park surrounded by Lake Superior. Can be enjoyed by vehicle, bike, cross country skis in the winter or by foot.

Beautiful park, particularly so close to downtown Marquette. Nice trails cliffs to jump from into the cold lake. Don’t bring your dog though, dogs are not allowed.

It was really fun watching people jump off the cliffs despite the clouds and temps in the 60s. The shoreline is very interesting and unique. Wear good shoes!

I wasn't in the area long enough to enjoy the park during the day (it looks great!) but I drove every evening to the sunset viewing spot and loved every second. Even with lots of people you can find your own spot that feels peaceful. The first night I brought dinner with me - I recommend that! (just please take your trash or use the trash can there). It's a GORGEOUS view over the lake and of the sunset.

We had a great time walking around the short hike and it was great. Easy, nice and beautiful
Some people jump from the black rocks into the water ( The freezing water, I have to say).
It is short and yo the point and ypu can do it in your car.

A gorgeous park. We stopped and had a picnic lunch at a table in the shade. Nice to just chill out in nature.
The main road is one lane, one way only so pay attention to which part you want to stop and see. We missed the turn for “Blackrock” the first time and had to go around. (So worth the jump! Take a towel. Not a far walk at all but there are large beautiful rocks so not a flat path).
There is a nice bathroom area to change into or out of a suit.
I’d go back there later this week. It’s really a nice park.

Such a fun spot to bike, hike, skip rocks or read a book! If you are looking for a relaxing activity, this is it. My 83 year old Mom was able to watch the grandkids skip rocks and play in the water from a bench in the shade. We didn’t get a chance to see the whole park but would go back in a heartbeat.

Absolutely loved this place!! Be mindful of the times the gate is closed, so you will have to walk to see things and not be able to drive. This park is absolutely beautiful. We went 3x while here. Its that pretty. Bathrooms are in the beginning, in the middle area, and at the end. There is also a place at the end to get ice cream. The views are wonderful, so peaceful! Highly recommend seeing black rocks, which is within this park. It is the place where people jump from 20-30 feet rocks into the cold Lake Superior water that is about 30 feet deep.

The park is located very close to town. We stopped at one of the first areas along the east side and when we reached the overlook we were surprised that we were so high off the water and taken by the beauty of the rock cliffs. We continued to the end or black rock area. It was a very warm day and there were a lot of kids jumping off the rock. It was a little to much for us, given the number of people and no one was wearing masks. We found a nice spot just a little further down the peninsula and caught a little sun, waded in the the water and found some shade. The gorgeous views were enhanced by a sea plane. This park is an absolute gem!!!!

One of the best scenic drives I’ve been through! Lovely scenery with lots of places to stop and pull off for pictures and enjoyment. Great place for those of all ages.

We stopped here to check it out we climbed the stairs and walked some of the trails some amazing views but if you are not as adventurous there were many people who just drove up there but you really miss alot of cool nature if you do it that way .

The place is pretty, but as a couple that is travelling with our dogs, it was VERY disappointing to find out that our dogs were literally not allowed to get out of the car here. So weird. My husband wanted to jump off Blackrock and he had to do so in a big rush because we had to keep the dogs in the car and didn't want them to get overheated. There can be tons of geese and all of their waste, but God forbid there were dogs...

Enter the park and drive up the hill. Numerous pull outs and parking areas for parking. Get out of your vehicle and look for the path along the rim. The trail is mostly flat, but a few places to climb. Very easy 3 mile loop walk overall with fabulous views of Lake Superior. Highly recommended.

If it hadn't rained, we would have visited Presque Isle Park during seasonal walking hours to walk the 2.3 mile circle drive around the perimeter of the park. But when you plan and the weather doesn't cooperate, you go to plan B. So we visited in the afternoon and drove around the park with stops along the way. The views are lovely. Trails are available.
We were interested in the nearby business that loads cargo ships. We had learned about it at the Maritime Museum which gave us an understanding of the mighty structure and the rail lines. A barge pulled up for loading as we watched. We had seen cargo ships go through the Soo Locks a few days earlier, so this added to our understanding of the important water travel on Lake Superior.

Went January the 14th, cold yet amazing, loved the ice covered rocks and shore line. We were not able to drive to the black rocks d/t snow mounds, but could have walked it- we did not as we had several other cool spots to get to yet before dark

Presque Isle is full of great views, overlooks and of course the BlackRocks. It’s not uncommon for folks to jump in Lake Superior from the rocks into the cove. Bring swim shoes if you have an interest.

Persia Isle provide both excellent viewing vantage points on Lake Superior, Ore Dock Loading, the Marquette beaches and tranquil places to watch a sunrise or sunset. You also have a quiet ride thru the peninsula in a tree covered road that ends by a beach and an ice cream store. Don't miss this jewel.

Saw one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen here. Absolutely beautiful place for beach day, sunsets or an easy family hike.

This is a wonderful stop for an easy walk on the road. We stopped at the Black Rocks and two members of our group did the cliff jump while the others cheered the jumpers on from the nearby cove.

The black rocks portion of this park is awesome. It is not easy to find the hiking trails on the interior portion of the park, even with a map. There is a trail that goes along the lakeshore that is quite nice and not very difficult.

Presque Isle Park is a very lovely area right on the water. It was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed Central Park in New York. It provides very scenic views and one can walk, bicycle or walk around the park loop. Highly recommend a visit.

Lake Superior has such diverse shoreline and so many amazing views- this park has some of the best in the Blackrocks area- similar to the Pacific Northwest coast
Not too busy on a weekday morning

This place has cliffs, beaches, break waters, a lighthouse (sort of), views of industry and a forest. If you have the time and need to get your steps in, this is a perfect place for that.

My daughter picked out this place to visit. We drove all the way here from Munising just for this park. It was not worth it at all. I don't know what I missed but theres nothing there. Only a long drive in with picnic areas. Couldn't even walk out very far. Glad we checked it out but won't go again.

We love to go to Presque Isle Park. We drive around the drive until we get to "Black Rocks" and check out the people jumping off the cliffs!

The park is clean and provides great views of Lake Superior. If boat present at the dock, be ready to watch close views of the cargo barge loading process. Including trains bringingin the coal and loading the chutes. It was interesting to watch. Also, go to the Maritime Museum and Lighthouse. There they show videos that further explain the importance and process of this areas shipping aspects.

We were there in winter, and snowshoes thru the park. Absolutely beautiful. Views were spectacular. It’s about 2 miles around the edge of the park, so not totally taxing. You probably didn’t need snowshoes, but it made the hike a little easier

There was a freighter at the ore docks being loaded. It was interesting to watch the process of the train cars dumping and filling the holds. It takes much longer than I would have thought. As we continued the drive through the park there were some beautiful views. Additionally, there was a beach area where surfers were challenging themselves against Lake Superior.

Unfortunately while we were there, the park was closed to traffic for the marathon. However just walking in the entrance area, the lighthouse was a nice walk all the way out and just near it very scenic.

The park had the roads closed to cars which was prefect because we were riding our bikes and the road is not very wide. Beautiful views the entire ride. Sunset Point is worth the visit alone. Make sure to walk out to black rocks for beautiful views of Lake Superior.

When you first drive in there is some kind of manufacturing plant. Then you drive by Presque Isle Square stop in and check out the artist in there. Especially RiskKa Pottery very interesting. Then we stopped at Marquette Harbor lighthouse where you could only take picture from the beach. Up the road there is a walk around area dedicated to scout master. Across the street is monument for the last Indian chief of the Chippaw tribe. Further in is lookout of Lake Superior. Our last stop before leaving was Sunset Beach. I could understand why it would be a beautiful place for the sunset but we only saw it during the day. The Moosewood nature Center is closed on Wednesday.

We enjoyed driving and bush whacking through the wild park down to the shoreline in search of a geocache. Just Spectacular!!!

A must-do while in town Presque Isle offers a great stop when in the area. Lots of little trails to walk along, cliff jumping, and picnic areas.

Great area for long walks and family picnics. If you are lucky, you will see deers (look for the albinos)! Collect the most beautiful rocks and take awesome pictures.

My husband and I were married on one of the rocks around the park. Then we took a short hike to the Black Rocks and jumped off. We will definitely be doing it again and may make it an anniversary jump.

A beautiful park and must do in Marquette. Beautiful views of Lake Superior, the ore dock, city view and views of NMU. The lighthouse is accessible by and long rocky maze and should only be attempted by the physically fit.
The isle has spots to picnic as we as a large shelter complete with restrooms, tables and fire pit. There is also a nearby ice cream shack.
Saw a boat launch but know nothing about.
The Black rock section is beautiful. Teens often jump from the rocks and swim to a small beach. The rest can explore the rocks and enjoy the views. There is a hiking path in the park but we did not use.

Great 2 mile loop around the island. Nice scenery and beautiful views all around the island. Island is very clean.

My daughter and I did the drive around the park. Very scenic and relaxing drive. Many stops to see beautiful things. Many photo opportunities.

A beautiful state park. Black rocks is one of my favorite places I've ever been to. It's a series of gorgeous cliffs popular with locals and visitors for jumping into the freezing depths of Lake Superior. Would highly recommend.

Visited Presque Isle park two days during our trip. We hiked out to the Presque Isle Harbor Breakwater Lighthouse on the first day. Climbing over the rocks after the cement ended added to the adventure, and then actually climbing up to the lighthouse was icing on the cake! Second day we hiked within the park on well-groomed trails, and spent time watching people jump off the Blackrock cliffs.
Be advised that no dogs are allowed outside of vehicles within the park.

We visited in the off season so there were not a lot of people around. However this city park rivals some state parks in beauty with overhead canopies of trees, views of Lake Superior, outcropping of rocks, and plenty of walking trails. The ice cream stand was closed for the season and there obviously were not other organized activities going on. However, just riding through the park is a treat and in warm weather it must be a great place to picnic! If you come to Marquette, definitely put this on your list to visit.

What a great relaxing place. Awesome views and a slow drive around the island.
Birds and deer hangout here and if you're lucky you will see some

We were there early in the morning for a peaceful walk about the park. It was great. The trails were well-maintained and the views were beautiful. It's a wonderful place for a picnic.

Oh my goodness. This was a highlight of our circle tour. We hit it just right as the day was very windy and the wave action was wonderful. Such a lovely drive and gorgeous overlooks along the way.

We walked the entire 3 miles around the park today. It was just beautiful!! Very well taken care of. Black rocks were fun to walk out on and Sunset point was really pretty! Visit this park.... you will love it !

Return Visit to a Favorite Spot!
Was very disappointed to arrive to a closed road. We had to come back the next day to drive the loop. When we returned the nextmorning, still closed! We had no idea it was closed some afternoons and mornings to vehicles. We will plan better next trip. When we finally got to drive in, the flies was so bad we left. Still a beautiful, peaceful place to visit!

This is a prime location for cliff jumping into Lake Superior and it is one of my favorite things to do in the U.P.

Beautiful park with a 2 mile scenic loop trail. There is also a lighthouse you can walk to. Half of the walk is flat and the 2nd half is over large rocks. Very serene place with many beautiful views of Lake Superior. Bring lunch and if you're brave, take a jump off of the black rocks! Free parking.

So close to Marquette it's a shame not to stop if you're going to be in town anyway. Resist the temptation to just drive through, It's definitely worth your time to get out and walk around a bit.

Some wonderful views of Lake Superior. Black rocks was a personal highlight. Hiking trail is not strenuous and there are places to rest. We went here every day on our trip

Been meaning to write a review on this place for some time. Everything that is great about the UP, all rolled into one park. Black Rocks live up to its reputation!

We were lucky enough to find a parking spot at the Black Rocks and had a blast climbing on them and taking pictures. My teenage son couldn't resist jumping off the cliff into Lake Superior. Luckily we had a towel with us!

Absolutely beautiful, tranquil, lovely. Drive thru, walkable or hike. Simply amazing place to take in nature.

Such a beautiful view and fun being in the rocks. My family had fun jumping off the black rocks, but the water is beyond cold.
Beautiful drive with frequent stops for views and hiking.
If the day I wandered around Preque Isle had been sunny, it would have been perfect and a lot warmer, I’m sure. It was 35 with frequent snow squalls but still a beautiful spot! I was using my family’s usual sense of navigation and driving from Toronto to Chicago but had to take this marvelous detour for the fall color show in the UP. Totally worth it. I’d love to come back and thoroughly explore Presque Isle.
