Just Go!

By Christina342 |

It’s not the easiest of spots to find, but it is so worth the effort. You will be on top of the world, and your eyeballs and soul will thank you for the effort. It’s simply a gorgeous vineyard, on top of a mountain and with breathtaking views. And then they start pouring wines and each one is better then the next. We did a reserve tasting with Katrina and loved every second. We always had something in our glass as we were led through the history of the winery and the land, outside to the vines, into the production area and the caves, and we ended in a lovely room with more wine and some nibbles. This was an exquisite experience in every way. Don’t miss it!

Wonderful experience!

By PS E |

I’m not sure how I found out about this place, but I’m so glad I did! For $30 a person, you get wine tasting of several excellent wines, and a nice easy tour of their “caves”, where they store the wine in barrels underground. The smell in the caves is heavenly, and the person guiding us was friendly and fun. Extra tastes were offered, and we even had a “barrel tasting”! When we returned to the tasting bar, she offered to apply our tasting fee toward any 2 bottles of wine, and didn’t charge my husband anything because he didn’t do any wine tasting! This place is a 20 minute mountain drive away from the valley, but worth it for a more personal, relaxing, friendly experience!

Very nice tour

By roanie1969 |

Beautiful views and great wines- what more can I say? The tour through the cave is really neat. Highly recommend this winery. The only downside is that it gets a bit crowded and noisy, which diminishes the overall experience a little. I would still go back.

Top of the World - Or Close to It

By Ladd H |

Pride Mountain is definitely worth making the winding, steep trek to get there. The view is superb, the wines are excellent, and Mark gave us easily the best tour we received while in Napa of the entire facility (half in Sonoma and half in Napa), including walking through a large, winding man-made cave and sampling wine from the barrels. Memorable, fun visit, and great spot for a picnic lunch as well. You won’t go wrong if you include Pride Mountain on your Napa/Sonoma winery tour.

Unforgettable

By Eugeniouss |

The drive up the winding road was picturesque and the tasting tour made the day perfect. Our guide Paul was the best - he made the walking tasting tour both fun and educational. We got to taste wine from the barrel while touring the wine cave. The wine was so delicious that we bought a beautiful Cabernet to enjoy with dinner that evening....perfection! Get ready for sensory overload.

Beautiful scenery

By Renae T |

Loved the tour of the cave and the guide was very good. Beautiful surroundings! Take lots of pictures!

Pride Mountain Vineyards

By paul l |

I am so happy that we visited Pride Mountain Vineyards in the Spring Mountain area! Our tasting and tour with Mark was excellent. He taught us a lot and the tour of the cave was really nice. The views from Pride are phenomenal and we brought snacks for a picnic on their patio! Well done Mark and Pride team!!

The BEST winery experience in the Valley

By hrdem |

We visited several wineries and tasting rooms on our trip, and this one was hands down the best. If you are staying in Napa, it is a bit of a drive - plan for about an hour. But it is WELL worth it. The tour itself is so personal and really enjoyable. And the views are spectacular. Not sure of any other winery where you can walk through their massive caves and sample wine straight from a tapped barrel. We were also lucky enough to be there on a day when homemade pizzas were being cooked in their outdoor wood burning oven. It was such a treat!

Far better wines out there but the view is worth the trip

By LivingTheDreamAs4 |

The wines are okay, not to my liking, but the property and staff are outstanding!!! The view is amazing and the story of being on the Napa and Sonoma County line is interesting as well. Our guide was entertaining.

Pleasantly Surprised

By timandmal |

We signed up for a tasting and were pleasantly surprised it included a tour of the caves. Andy was a fantastic tour guide, very down to earth and engaging. The wine caves were very cool to see and the wine tasting was authentic. Highly recommend, worth the drive up the mountain. Don't forget to book a tasting ahead of time, they don't take walk ups.

Spectacular wines and breathtaking views, hidden gem

By HawaiianTraveler3 |

Spring mountain road is beautiful. This is a hidden gem. They don't mass produce and the wines are spectacular. Tour of the caves and tastings with tasting notes/ profiles located at each tasting. Reservations required.

Does it get any better?

By ChaseyK |

So, with 5,000 wineries in Napa, maybe not that many yet, how do you choose? You find a potential label that makes great products, add a location that offers views year round and throw in a great staff. We had the pleasure of Nikki showing us the sites and pouring some spectacular wine. It’s hard to mess up a visit that features great views and even greater wine, but it’s even better when your hostess makes it even more warm & special.

Great experience and awesome Wine

By MSalinas1119 |

This is our second time to Pride Mountain and it definitely won’t be our last! Not only do they have great Wine, but the setting, scenery, touring facilities are very inviting. The staff is great, Jay was our guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable about everything winemaking. We even ran into the owner’s wife and she was very pleasant . Pride feels like home! We finished the tour with a glass of wine on the Picnic tables and enjoyed the view and the sounds of nature.

Unforgettable Wine Tasting Experience

By Melissa B |

A group of 4 of us recently spent a day wine touring in Napa. I can’t emphasize enough how special of a place Pride Mountain Vineyards is! It was by far our favourite property and tasting experience while in Napa.

The property was beautiful and the wine was delicious. However, what stood out most to us was the amazing hospitality by everyone we encountered at Pride. We would especially like to thank our amazing host, Quique, for an incredible tour and tasting experience. The tour was both informative and incredibly fun, which we attribute to our great host.

We said while leaving the property that it would be hard to beat, and we weren’t wrong. We definitely hope to return in the near future and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Worth the drive

By csrushuga |

Really enjoyed this tour, one of the best after visiting seven others over the course of the week. It is a drive up some mountain roads which can be narrow and tight on turns but the tour is great. We had Jason lead us around the property, you are mainly in the caves but they stop along the way and offer a sip of wine at a few different stations. Jason did one of the best jobs of explaining how the different wines felt on your tongue, and how they blend to try and hit those different areas. They have candles lit throughout that give it a very cool ambiance. The views are great on top and offer a few areas for picnics.

Excellent tour & tasting!

By travelwithpam |

Went with friends for our first visit to Pride Mountain Vineyards. In a beautiful location at the top of the mountain. Beautiful views. Our tour was with our guide Paul. He did an excellent job and show how much he loves his job. Upon arrival we were given a tasting of their Chardonnay. We continued outside and into the caves where we tasted a few of their red wines. Learned a lot about their beautiful winery. A definite must visit with an appointment.

We Joined!

What an incredible experience. The wine, views and people make for an incredible time in the hills! We did the private tour and it was worth every penny, highly recommended! The wines are exquisite. Look them, make the reservation and visit!

Very enjoysble

This was a very enjoyable tour and tasting, beautiful vineyard and views and very good wines! Our tour guide was very friendly.

Wine Visit

By Delwin L |

We were told about this place from a local and so glad we went. We showed up with no appointment (I suggest to though) and Krista there was very accommodating. She was awesome during the tour. Great views and great wine here and ask for Krista.

Appointment only

By Hitcher84 |

Personalized wine tours and tastings by appointment only. The tasting room is situated close to the top of the ridge between Sonoma and Napa counties, providing great views. Very nice Merlot and Cab around the $60 range. You can spend hundreds for a prestige wine too if you want. Good customer service by the pourers. $20 tasting, about the same as the crowded rooms, worth it. Bring a picnic, they have tables.

Awesome Winery

By ShermanSUV |

Best educational winery, great views, excellent wines, and also most interesting because the winery straddles 2 counties. The accounting nightmares are hysterical yet the efforts are worth it because their wine is really really good. We had Jay as our host and after tasting a chard in the bar area, he gave us a "cave" tour. He was a wealth of information about all things related to wine making. After tasting several generous pours, he offered a barrel tasting which we gladly excepted. Needless to say, it was excellent and we're so looking forward to it's release. Highly recommend Pride Mountain and you won't be disappointed.

Gracious and accommodating

By Twinmommy123 |

We had a tasting experience elsewhere but our host there noted with our love of cab franc we must try pride. So we drove here on a whim with no reservation. The staff was accommodating and gracious to find a way for us to try the Cab Franc, which is indeed as amazing as noted by our prior host. We bought a magnum of it highly recommend and wish we had made reservations for a full experience and tasting. It’s a winery in the mountain with done in Sonoma and some in Napa. Beautiful and highly recommend. Must make reservations!!!!

Climb the mountain.

By Glenn F |

Five miles of “interesting “ driving up the mountain to get to this beautiful vineyard. Once there the view is amazing. The wine is excellent, the staff very friendly and informative. Travis took us on a tour of their caves where we sampled the wine right out of the barrel and mixed our own blend.
I’d highly recommend stopping if you have the chance.

Mountain top bliss

By barb |

We had a great time wine tasting with Nicole. She created us with a lovely Chardonnay before entering the wine cave. She shared the back story of the property. We loved the wines … thank you Nicole for a wonderful experience. The picnic in the picnic area was beautiful … and they are dog friendly. We loved the cab franc and Merlot …. Most impressive - 33 events served at thee White House.

Pride is worth the drive!

By Eileen D |

In the overly-commercialized and touristy Napa Valley, Pride distinguishes itself by offering a beautiful and unique location, friendly & informed staff and consistently good wines across all their varietals. You don't find Pride in retail and rarely in restaurants so it's worth the windy but picturesque drive to get there. The lovely Cristi led our tour and our group had a great time. We'll be back!

Love this vineyard

By Jillian W |

Gorgeous setting and wonderful staff at Pride Mountain Vineyards. We came with a small group of 5 adults and had a wonderful private tour of the caves. Catherine took us to a great spot for a group photo as well and kept our glasses full throughout the tour! This was my second time to Pride and it was not a disappointment!

Hidden gem - must see

By soccermomjk22 |

Pride mountain was highly recommended by numerous Napa natives. It exceeded our expectations. Andy was a knowledgeable, fun host. The cave tour was incredible and the wines were out of this world. It was hard to choose which wine to purchase. Beautiful grounds

Proud of Pride!

By cpreisel |

Off the beaten path, high in the mountains! Take the time to visit Pride Winery on Spring Mountain. The views are spectacular. The history of the winery that is half in Napa and half in Sonoma is fascinating. And the wines produced here are wonderful! We had a great experience touring the wine cave, which included a barrel tasting. Can't wait to visit again.

Top notch winery, hidden away in the land of wow!

By jmg893 |

I have to admit that the cramped, lengthy off-the-main-drag drive required to get to Pride Mountain Vineyards was starting to etch a negative opinion in my mind as we followed the road to the winery. After the visit and tour were over, it was worth the drive hands-down. Pride Mountain Vineyards is located in a quiet, private mountainous area with absolutely beautiful surroundings. The experience continues inside - warm, quality surroundings, very interesting wall plaques of some exclusive organizations and individuals that solicited Pride Mountain Vineyards wines for their events, and tasty tastings. We had the privilege of meeting Jay and having him lead our tour (6 other people present too). Jay was very thorough in his historical recountings of wine making, Pride Mountain Vineyards, the Napa Valley area in general, and memorizing all of our names impressively quick. He took the time to answer in detail and with no rush any and all questions posed to him. The underground tour was very informative and interesting, the tastings along the way were top notch. We were quite happy to take two bottles home in exchange for our funds, having truly enjoyed the visit to Pride Mountain Vineyards and looking forward to bringing some friends next time.

Our Favorite Winery Experience

By Molly452 |

The tour and tasting at Pride Mountain was by far the best winery experience of our trip to Napa. Travis was our tour guide and he could not have been better at making us feel welcome! The tour was laid-back, fun, and at the same time, very informative. The mountaintop property is beautiful, with spectacular views all around. The wines were great and the pours generous, especially for the very reasonable price charged. A+ all around!

Mountain Magic Mist

By Karen S |

Our drive up the windy country road from Calistoga to Pride Mountain Vineyards was misty and magical, not to mention the wonderful tour and the delicious & delightful wine tasting.

Worth the drive

By D g |

Situated at the top of Spring Mountain, Pride is worth the drive. The 2016 cab is well balanced and well priced - wineries on the valley floor would easily charge twice as much. The Merlot was rich and full bodied. Our tasting experience was in a fabulous room in the wine cave, hosted by a knowledgeable host (Dana) - it was a great way to spend an afternoon.

Absolutely incredible experience!!

By dcmom |

We have done dozens of winery tours, this was hands down one of the best! From our top rated guide Jay to the quality of their wine- we joined the wine club and expect to be life long members.

Top of our list!

By Gretchen S |

Pride was the first vineyard we ever visited...12 or 15 years later, we still visit every time we are in Napa! Their wines are spectacular, and the vineyard is beautiful, even if the drive up the mountain is a little nerve wracking...it is well worth it! Did a Summit tour this year with Becky, and it was great! Even after all of our visits, she found things to teach us! We will be back!

Great view/Pass on tour

By GusOKC |

We went with another couple to take a tour at 130 pm. It had been set up prior to the visit and we were looking forward to it since it seems to be such a great location and we supposedly set up for a catered. They were busy with a large group when we arrived and we were kind of pushed off to the side to wait. Initially we were greeted by a woman named Katherine who said she'd be our guide, but then handed us off to another young lady who was very nice but had only done one tour before. Most of tasting was of new wine and not ready to drink so although any wine tour is a good thing; I would not waste your time to drive up the winery; disappointing all round.

Great tour!

By l0vethebeach87 |

Nikki was our host as we had an opportunity to learn so much about the wine making process and taste some really amazing wines. We got to go into the caves and hear about how the wine is produced and actually see the bottling process, which is rare to see as it doesn’t happen on a regular basis. The scenery is absolutely beautiful as it sits 2000 feet on the top of spring mountain. If you’re in the area, be sure to take the time to make the trip up the winding roads to see many of the great vineyards. It is a bit out of the main wine trail but well worth the trip. There are other wineries along the way so be sure to make a day of visiting some of Prides neighbors while you’re up that way. Thank you for the great tour and conversation and answering all of our questions. It’s such a great environment to lean in an atmosphere that’s not pretentious. We really enjoyed our time at Pride and look forward to enjoying the bottles we purchased.

Gorgeous property. Great wine. DO THIS TOUR.

By Actor21 |

A very good experience. The cave tour and wine tasting was amazing. The winery is located on an amazing property on top oof a mountain. The wine is incredible and the fresh, hot brick-oven pizza served at the end of the tour was a great touch.

Perfect place

By Karin Silver |

Off the beaten path , beautiful drive , excellent wine guides and a great selection of wines . After drinking this wine at @ Blackberry Mountain we decided to visit the winery and what a great decision . Don’t miss this one !! We love the Pride family .

Spectacular views, lovely tour, delicious wine

By khainajr |

I recently visited Pride in a group of three couples. Simply put, we had a wonderful, memorable time.

First of all the location is simply gorgeous. After driving up a winding road through the mountains you find this glorious property, the ruins of the old, pre-prohibition winery crumbling near the side of the driveway. A picnic area for visitors overlooks the vines and has SPECTACULAR views. It would be a wonderful place to spend an afternoon picnicking. There is a lot of interesting history here with both the property itself and the Pride family. Paul led our tour and tasting. He was nice, charming, and able to answer most of our questions. We enjoyed our time with him.

The wine is delicious, and they pour PLENTY, especially given the price. In fact we thought that the overall value was fantastic given the quality of the tour, the wine, and the property. There are plenty of wineries in Napa that are charging much more $$$ for a much less memorable experience. It is also refreshing to have no wine club sales pitch as Pride has no wine club.

If you are ready for a Napa winery experience up in the mountains with stunning views, quality wine, a nice tour, a good price, and interesting history, then Pride is a good fit.

Napa And Sonoma In One Winery Trip

By Steebie |

I've been to Pride Mountain many times over the many trip I make to Napa Valley every year. They are located at the very top of the Mountain that separates Sonoma and Napa Valley. The views are absolutely BREATHTAKING! Their Vineyards are located both on the Napa side of the Mountain, and the Sonoma Side of the Mountain.

The tasting experience is well worth the at times twisting turns up the Mountain from St. Helena, not to mention the magnificent Views. My 500 bottle collection of wines includes some Pride Mountain Cabernets and Merlots. Their Merlot is a Cabernet Lovers Merlot, since I do not carry any other Merlots in my collection.

It is truly a must to visit, but make sure you have a Garmin GPS since using Google Maps as your NAV will not get you there on time.

Worth the drive!!!

By Susan R |

Our visit to Pride Mountain was so fun!! Paul gave us a great tour...educational and entertaining!!!! Beautiful views and great wines!! Definitely recommend!!!

Wines Elevated

By napasyrah |

At 2,200 feet above sea level, Pride Mountain Vineyards sits atop Spring Mountain. The views are breathtaking and their wines are excellent. Critics love them too and have awarded many vintages 100 points. You will need to make an appointment to tour their caves and taste, and the drive is about 20 minutes from St. Helena but well worth it.

Amazing location!

By David A |

The drive up to this beautiful vineyard is amazing! It's an adventure for sure & makes you feel as though you're in a different world. The views are spectacular. The service & staff are exceptional. Paul gave us the best tour & made it fun & entertaining. The wines were great! And as icing on the cake, our tour guide waived our tasting fees in celebration of a special event. This vineyard deserves every high mark it receives!

Off the beaten path and beautiful!

By Normtf |

I originally selected Pride for its rolling hills, terrain more like many European vineyards as opposed to the flatter vineyards in the valley along highway 29 or the Silverado Trail. Was not disappointed!! You get there from St. Helena on a small, winding, paved road that runs northwest for about 5 miles. Smartphone data connection (Google Maps navigation) held up, although down to one bar in the low spots. Do not attempt to drive this road after having too many samplings. Recommend trying to avoid darkness as well. Despite a few of these constraints, the trip is well worth the effort. The views are spectacular on a sunny day. The tour of the caves is both interesting and entertaining. Paul led ours and was a hoot. Last, but not least, the Merlot is very good--mistaken for a fine Cabernet by soms, we are told. Get there early, soak up some sun, fresh air, and fabulous views before your tour and tasting.

Incredible Wine Tour

By Evan S |

Incredible wine, incredible tour! What a wonderful experience! Brittany was an incredibly guide layering in history, humor, and a personal touch to our wine experience. Highly recommend!!

Pride Mountain

By Susan E |

This was our favorite winery. We loved the location, the view and the wine. We did The Cave Experience and it was worth every dime. Andy was our "guide" and he was charming and knowledgeable. Don't miss this one.

Worth the trip

By umandr |

We have been Pride fans for 15 years and have been ordering their wines off the mailing list but this was our first trip to the winery. We had a wonderful experience. Andy was our guide and was awesome. The tour experience was a nice mix of info , cave experience and tasting. We enjoyed the time at the top of the mountain !!

Great tour and wine

By kw_derelict |

One of our favorite new wineries. The views from the property are amazing. We brought lunch and had a quick picnic before our reservation. The wine was awesome and tour was very entertaining. Definitely worth a visit.

Fortunate

By big_poppa_5150 |

If you are fortunate enough to visit Pride - do it. The drive up alone is amazing. It takes you through beautiful winding mountain roads up to the summit. There you will be greeted by an amazing view and wonderful hosts. There we met Andy and he was fantastic. Learned alot that day and enjoyed wonderful wine. Ended up purchasing a few bottles of the Merlot. Yes its that good.

Outstanding wine! Outstanding setting! Outstanding people!!

By kssmith84 |

Second visit with Pride. Always amazing wine and people! Andy led us on a private cave tour, which was a tremendous opportunity. On our way through we were able to meet with Sally Johnson, Pride's incredible winemaker, and visit with her for quite a while. Each year we look forward to receiving our allocations and enjoy them tremendously. Each visit we get to buy more of their terrific wines. This winery is always our favorite visit when we get to the Napa area.

Mountain-top wine tasting

By DominicB |

Our first stop on a 48-hour wine-tasting trip based in St Helena was to drive up Spring Mountain to Pride Vineyards, and it was a delightful experience. We'd heartily recommend getting up out of the valley floor for part of a trip to the Wine Country, and this was a lovely vineyard to experience. The views are gorgeous and the wine is very fine. We were looked after by a most engaging host, and all in all, it was a very good experience that we'd heartily recommend.

Cave tour

By Breaking1 |

Friendly staff, great wine and great tour guide. Do the cave tour is exciting. The drive is crazy but fun and if you think you are lost just keep going you will hit signs further down the road.

Great Tour - be prepared for a drive

By occasionaltravelerNY |

We had a great visit to Pride Mountain while we were in Napa. Be aware that the drive is a bit of a pain, I would not want to do it in the rain. The winery itself is really cool, lots of history and some really cool caves. The tour guide was great and made things informative and fun, and the wine was good. Enjoy!

Outstanding wines, outstanding service

By Tim H |

Pride Mountain features some the best wines I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Wonderful Cabs and Merlots. And if you are fortunate enough to get Andy as your tasting guide, you are in for a treat!! He is knowledgeable. personable and makes the taasting experience superior. I highly recommend this winery to anyone visiting Napa and/or Sonoma (as it has fields in each). Highest of recommendations for Pride Mountain and to Andy!!!

Beautiful vineyard views

By Flash65 |

This winery straddles a ridge that separates Napa and Sonoma counties. The wine making operation is very interesting in that they have to keep the grapes grown in the two counties separate. The setting is the most beautiful and scenic winery of our visit. Wine was great too!

Nice tour

By Sameh e |

Nice tour. Educational. Friendly. Nice grounds and views. Ok wine. I'd do it once but not a place for a second look if you ask me.

A gem at the top- Pride winery

By jimfranp |

September is a fabulous time to take the winding drive up Spring Mountain Road to enjoy the foliage starting to change and to enjoy the gem at the top - Pride Winery. TripAsvisor reviews praised tour guide Jay and we agree, Jay make the experience memorable. We agree with Jay: tasting the cab grapes from the harvest bins will make buying table grapes a distant flavor comparison. Wonderful trip.

Still dreaming about this place

By Lisa K |

My husband and I visited this winery in April 2019. It is one of the best (if not the best) wineries we have ever been to. We only had one day in the Napa region and wanted to go to a top quality and less touristy winery and were told to visit this one. We are very happy we did! The drive there was so beautiful (and a tad scary - very windy and narrow roads). Our entire experience was incredible - very beautiful, amazing wine, and awesome guide!

I recommend this winery to anyone!

Don't Rely on Google Maps

By nctraveler315 |

First warning, DO NOT rely on Google maps to get you here. You will wind up behind the winery. Call the winery and get them to give you the street address of the tasting room. As a result of our wanderings trying to find the tasting room we were 20 minutes late for our scheduled cave tour. They were very kind and took us to the cave to catch up on the tour and our tastings. It was a very nice tour of the caves and then we went to the tasting room for more tasting. The tasting room was a bit crowded but our guide/server was very nice and filled us in on what we had missed by being late. Recommend the cave tour, try to be on time. Wines were very good. We bought several and are on the mailing list so I'm sure we will order some more in the coming year.

Fantastic experience - should be first on your list to do in Napa!

By Chris56781234 |

Make a reservation first. We were greeted promptly and taken care of the entire tour. Paul, our host, was funny, knowledgable and our favorite guide. The quality and variety of wine was tremendous. Each with unique qualities. We ended up purchasing multiple bottles of five different varietals. Worth the drive up the mountain!

Lovely Vineyard!

By slither1 |

The drive alone to Pride Vineyard is worth the visit! Once there be sure to go to the top where you can enjoy a picnic lunch or just phot ops. Beautiful Vineyard, fun tour through the caves with wine tasting direct from the barrels. We really enjoyed the wine as well!

Gorgeous mountain top vineyard

By Johanna S |

PAUL was a fantastic host! Funny, but educational which is a difficult task to say the least. Views are stellar! Cellar tour was beautiful. Try the Syrah if you want something off the beaten path.

A Gem off the Beaten Path

By buckinut33 |

There are so many wineries in the area, that we look for those unique places that are off the beaten path. Pride Mountain Vineyards is off the beaten path and worth the effort. The wine tasting was a good value and much more than just standing at a counter listening to someone talk. We got a walking tour of the caves where the wines are stored. It was educational, and fun to walk while doing the wine tasting. We would recommend this place for sure.

Best Vineyard Experience Ever

By Ludy C |

My husband and I have visited vineyards in the US and other countries like Spain and Chile for many years. This has been the best one for sure. The total experience is what made this so special. First, the location: it's the only vineyard that is both in Napa and Sonoma. There's a line dividing both counties and you can take a gorgeous photo. It is not in the standard path of all Napa vineyards, but up at the mountain. It's a nice drive up and easy if you have a rental. Second, the history of the vineyard including some very interesting steps the owners had to take from their original intention to retire to sell grapes and fast forward to where they are today. That history is what makes the great quality of their wines - we enjoyed them so much!. Last, the people and their hospitality: from the fact that the owners and wine-maker were around and casually introduced to us, the owner's son working alongside all workers, the authentic smiles of everyone as we walked by, and to top it all, our tour guide Paul Smith (bilingual - for those seeking Spanish) was just out of this world. We took the "Summit Experience" and it was so worth it. We purchased some wines and we can't wait for them to ship in the fall to us! Next time we are in Napa we'll visit again for sure!

Very Nice Visit

By drdeger |

This is a little larger than the boutique wineries we have been visiting. The tour and tasing were wonderful. We were able to do our first ever barrel tasting, and they brought out the limited quantity reserve.

The caves were fantastic. The guide was delightful. They took us in a small group. Even though we have been used to private tours, this one was excellent.

You can learn a lot about the affects of different soils on the outcome of the product by tasting.

Definitely recommend.

Breath taking views!!!

By Houston N |

The Pride Family has its own little piece of heaven on the mountain top where they can harvest grapes in NAPA and Sonoma wile only walking one step across the county line. Wonderful wines with a gorgeous cave in the mountain.

Great Tour, Great Wine, Great Staff

By YNWA_DO |

This was my favorite tour that we went on during our most recent trip to Napa Valley. Pride has made great wine for a long time, but I have never had a chance to visit the winery. The tour provides great background on the history of the vineyard and their methods, and takes you through the their cave system for barrel tasting. Shout out to Paul, great guide, and made the whole experience very memorable. Be aware that this is located near the top of the mountain so cell reception and Uber rides can be a little tough, but we were able to get on the winery's WiFi and didn't have to wait long for a ride. Also, if you are interested in the "Summit Experience" which is their premier private tour and tasting, make sure you call WAY in advance, it fills up 2-3 months out... Very excited to soon be able get this great wine in PA and order direct, now that some of the laws are relaxing!

Highly recommend

By ekirsty |

You need to phone ahead and book this tour, but make sure you do it! It was one of my fav's in the Napa. My only regret is I didn't buy more wine...

Great visit, very good wines.

By Momof2Virginia |

We had a great visit at Pride. Recommend the Summit Experience with a tour of the wine caves and a private room for the tastings with food. Wines were great and our host was Ashley. She was fantastic. The road up to the winery is narrow and twisting so be aware but the experience is definitely worth it!

Great recommendation!

By jlg3000 |

We asked our tasing host at Tamber Bey where else he might recommend and he immediately indicated Pride Mountain Vineyards. We had not heard of it before but called up and made reservations for the next day. It is a little out of the way but well worth the drive. The views are awesome. The wine is spectacular. The tasting and tour in the caves is very well done and includes some barrel tasting and mixing.

Worth The drive

By Inspire10137624011 |

As previous posters have mentioned, the drive here is a bit daunting, but the payoff is worth everything. First rate experience with our Tour Guide Andy. He was funny, friendly, informative and knowledgeable. The insight he provided with regards to the history of the vineyard and wine making process was worth the price of admission. As someone who does not consider himself a "wine enthusiast", i felt welcomed and grateful to experience the tour. The tour lasts about 75 minutes, and costs about 30$, but they will wave the fee if you buy some of their wine (which is excellent). Would highly recommend this vineyard/winery to wine lovers and non-wine lovers alike.

Highlight of our visit to Napa Valley!

By Julie S |

The experience of Pride Mountain Vineyards begins with the trip up the curvy, winding road. My husband had a blast driving this. It's harder to be the passenger! We had picked up sandwiches at Giugni's Grocery and Deli in St Helena which were amazing. Pride had a gorgeous spot set up for picnickers which made the experience even better. Then we joined Mark for a tour of these beautiful vineyards, winery and caves. We learned a ton, loved the wine, and ended up as wine club members here. Loved every minute of our time at Pride.

Best of the best

We absolutely love Napa wine and had to make it up the mountain to visit Pride Mountain Vineyard. We didn’t let the rain storm stop us and honestly the drive wasn’t that bad. Our wine educator/hospitality host was Andy Nies. He was super knowledgeable and friendly and gave us the 411 on Pride wine. Each and every wine was delicious. It’s hard for me to put into words our love for this wine and this special place. Give it a try if you’d like to experience quality wine and true elegance. We love it so much we joined their wine club. Yum!

Highlight of the Trip!

By RedMountainAVA |

It's hard not to have high expectations when seeing how highly this place is rated, but we were so impressed with the tour and tasting we had.Travis was an excellent host for us, and we can't say enough good things about him.

First off, the drive up the mountain is a bit windy and slow, but if you follow the directions given in the e-mail confirmation, it's easy to get to (the actual address works perfectly in Google Maps, but be sure to put it in prior to leaving St. Helena or you may not get good enough service).

We arrived and got a glass of white from Travis, then chatted a bit prior to starting the tour. For those that don't like "tours", this was more like a tasting experience than a formal tour. We went to the caves and tried a couple barrel samples, including a short blending exercise that was a lot of fun. We asked a variety of questions throughout, and were told other interesting information along the way.

I don't want to go through every detail of the rest of the tour and tasting because it would take some of the fun out of it, but suffice it to say that we felt so very welcome and were treated incredibly well by the staff here. The tour/tasting fee is very reasonable, especially considering they will waive the fee (I believe it was a 2 bottle purchase, or something similar to that). The quality of the wine was very good, and their wines were reasonably priced, so we absolutely purchased some wine. I really prefer to try new places each time I go to Napa, but this will be at the top of the list next time we return. If we lived closer, we would absolutely be club members.

Thank you to Travis, Samantha (for thoroughly coordinating everything, including some changes), and the rest of the staff here for the amazing experience and great photos, and for making my mom's birthday celebration that much more amazing. Cheers!

Excellent

Their wine has gotten 100 points by Robert Parker several times...the guide, the premises and and the tour were exceptional. After driving a zigzag road, you find yourself in a paradise, and you don't want to leave it at all...

Must not miss this memorable two zone Vineyard Sonoma & Napa combo mountain vineyard

By Nancy R |

Economic position and grapes are an absolute superb combo here at this must not miss vineyard! Great walking tour, caves, guides are expert & funny.

Excellent Experience

By Andrea405 |

My husband and I visited Pride Mountain on a cloudy, chilly day but the views were still gorgeous! We really enjoyed our tour. Andy was our guide and he was by far our favorite guide during our time in Napa Valley. The tour included walking through the caves and tasting from the barrels. It was interesting and informative. Wine was excellent too! Highly recommend visiting.

Once in a lifetime experience you'll do more than once!

By kristiborwick |

We visited Pride mountain vineyards as guests of a tour and tasting we were greeted by Jay who treated us like royalty with the comfort of family. We had a large group from all over the country he remembered each one of our names our occupations and preferences. With his jokes and extensive knowledge of everything Napa ,Sonoma ,wine making and his outstanding wit he provided us with a tour that didn't disappoint or leave you bored. My
Husband and I walked away feelings educated and full of the love of pride mountain and its staff!
Cristi was another favorite personality at the winery... She helped me with my reservation emailing me directly with even the smallest of demands. We were running late and were accommodated via email almost instantly. The Kind and inviting staff here will make you feel like a wine pro in no time!
We love pride mountain!!!

Excellent!

By Addie D |

We visited pride mountain at 10am as our first tour/tasting in Napa. Wow, just wow!! Paul was amazing- it was fun and very informative!! We had been recommended to pride and so glad we were, was a perfect way to start our Napa trip! We did the estate testing and it was perfect for us. We debated the summit experience but are really glad we opted for the estate! They have great picnic area so would recommend bringing a picnic if time allows. It is way out off the beaten path but very much worth the trip!!! Go!! You won’t be disappointed!

Amazing host so knowledgeable.

By Daniel C |

On a weekend full of wine tastings and tours, Jay was by far the most engaging, knowledgeable, enthusiastic host we have seen. His passion for his craft really shines through as he explains each variety during the tasting. By the way, it's wonderful wine! Check it out.

Simply Amazing!!!

By ashleyj8 |

Out of all the vineyards we went to (25?) this was by far my favorite. The wine is A+. If you know your wine you'll love it. The views were breath taking. 10/10 for this experience.

What a gem of a winery

By Eric C |

This is on a limited access road that if you're prone to car sickness be prepared. The winery and tasting room is situated atop a mountain with the vineyards surround the beautiful facility. The wines were great and I would recommend our tour guide, Cristi. She was knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. We like it so well we left with a case of wine.

Amazing winery, wine, and views

By Fairport Travelers |

Way, way, way up Spring Mtn Rd you hit Pride, probably some of the more incredible views of any winery. Our host was Ashley, she was great, very cool, friendly, generous with pours. All and all a great winery to visit for the beautiful drive, the views, the winery, the wine, the people. Definitely a must do.

Excellent all around!

By TravelgalCathy415 |

Beautiful scenery as you drive up the back of the mountain to the winery. Great views once you get there, and an equally wonderful and informative tour that includes barrel tasting. If you love wine, you will enjoy their wines, hospitality, and their facilities.

Scenery is to die for!

By Rebecca N |

If I could picnic everyday at pride I would! This came as a recommendation and I'm so happy we found the time to get there! The tour was fabulous! The wine was decent - grab a bottle, have some food for a picnic and go up to their picnic tables and have a picnic - this was one of the best parts of the trip this year!

Ask for Mark!

By alec725 |

What a special place! We were thrilled to get a recommendation from a local to visit this vineyard. A little off the beaten Napa path, this vineyard sits atop a gorgeous mountain, actually straddling both Sonoma AND Napa. Our guide, Mark, was one of the most special parts of this visit. He was warm, knowledgeable and so passionate about Pride's wines. We loved being able to see the different areas of the property while tasting some delicious wines. If you don't want to have the same cookie-cutter Napa trip as everyone else, I highly recommend coming here. Be sure to ask for Mark!!

One of the best winery tours.

By Padraic G |

We were told by all of our friends to go to Pride Mountain and they were all correct. It was hands down the best tour. The tour was so good because of the people at Pride. Our tour guide Paul was knowledgeable, friendly and answered all my questions as naive as they were, in the accommodating and curious manner, as thought he was answering a questions from his boss. By far the most salient part of the tour was that you could tell how much all the employees we met, truly enjoyed their work and cared about the company and that translated into a great experience for visitors and of course it can be seen in all of their wines. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Old friendsI

By mspecker2018 |

I have known the Prides for about 45 years. Jim and Carolyn and family have committed to "quality and value" for their wines. Their reds have received notoriety internationally. The hospitality of the staff demonstrates the happiness of the experience. Spring Mountain has great diversity and the Prides' wines are at the top of the heap. Beautiful setting, picnic areas, and great wines.

Beautiful mountain top winery

By 35yrBFFtrip |

Pride Mountain is unique in that it is at the top of a mountain and straddles 2 counties (Napa & Sonoma). Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and personable, and we learned so much. And that view!! You can beat it. The road there IS challenging, but it's worth it and you can get a Pride Vineyard t-shirt that says "I survived the drive!"

Drive up to another wine world

By CookingMagister |

This is a premium winery on top of a mountain. The drive and view would be worth the trip, but there's much more! The appointment-only, well-planned tasting tour is conducted in their cellar (cave). (Pride is the name of the owners.)

A Superior Wine Tasting Experience

By JohnAnnColumbia_MD |

Pride Mountain produces high quality wines costing $42-$145 per bottle. We made reservations for the 1pm winery tour on Mon. 9/11/17, about a week in advance. We checked in at the wine bar at about 12 noon. We had purchased picnic lunches at the Sonoma Market in Sonoma (recommended) so we asked if we could purchase two glasses of wine for our lunch. They informed us they do not sell wine by the glass and since we had signed up for a wine tasting they provided good portions of their Viognier & Merlot gratis! We drove the short distance up the hill from the main building to the picnic tables situated in the shade and had our lunch with a great view of the estate. We thought the wine tour was the best we have ever taken. What made the big difference was that the tasting happens during the tour, not afterward as on all other tours we have taken. By doing so, you can experience the differences in the wines as the details of each are being explained and have your questions answered as you go. It adds up to a much more informative and satisfying experience. We were very happy with the hospitality shown by the entire staff.

Amazing Spring Mountain Merlots and Cabs. The staff are very warm and personable. Would recommend to anyone. Need to have a scheduled tasting for sure.

The Summit Experience at Pride

By Desiraprewitt |

We were a group of 4, after we survived the very curvy drive there, we were greeted by Cristi, the concierge and she began our tour. We started with a glass of white and off we went. She guided us thru the caves, stopping to taste a bit of wine and explaining how they do their wines, then we were escorted to the tasting salon, where the summit tasting begins. It's also in the cave, but wow, what a great room. There we had about more extensive wines and a few special releases, all paired with a charcuterie board. The room opens up to an amazing view and overall it took about 90 minutes. We all loved it and i am recommending to all my friends, this is a MUST do.

Our favorite winery with an amazing view!!

By lprimeal |

So Pride Mountain Winery is up on Howell mtn. Tough drive but SO worth it. Take a picnic lunch to enjoy before or after your tasting. They have a great area with about 6 tables for dinning. The view is beyond words!!! I recommend the Summit Tasting experience. Worth the extra $$$. We visit Pride every time we are in Napa. Their wines are as good as the view. Don't miss this one!! Also recommend booking your tasting several months in advance. They will also take drops ins at the tasting bar.

A Hidden Gem!

By Joshua P |

We visited Pride Mountain Vineyards for our first time this May, upon a recommendation by our hotel. We are so glad we came! The vineyards are situated in both Sonoma and Napa counties, which is very unique. Jay, who led our tour/tasting, was extremely knowledgeable and a great host! We enjoyed every wine we tasted, and the experience very much. We are not huge fans of Merlot, but theirs was outstanding; we loved it so much we took a bottle home. We highly recommend a visit here!

Great visit

By Bigcityeater |

This was our last winery of the day and we all enjoyed it. The wines were great, the views fantastic, the tour guide entertaining and the caves were great. Would return.

Best wine tasting ever!

By MariahS281 |

We have been on our fair share of wine tours, but this was by far the best! Paul was a fantastic host and the grounds were breathtaking. The wine was phenomenal as well. This is a definite must-do!

"Beautiful Picnic Area"

By Linda P |

A long drive up Spring Mountain Rd. to reach Pride but well worth it. Beautiful scenery. The views at the top were breathtaking! We had a tour and tasting booked and were well taken care of by Jay. With wine glass in hand we were given a very informative tour around the property and in the caves. We enjoyed our picnic lunch in a wonderful secluded area not far from the vineyard. There were picnic tables to enjoy our lunch overlooking the vineyards, what a sight to behold. Really would have loved to relax there longer drinking Pride wines, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Very impressed!

Excellent winery tasting and tour

By NebraskaFan71 |

We did our first visit to this winery and were not disappointed. We had scheduled our visit and Jay did a great job taking care of us. The winery tour was conducted in a small group setting and was very informative. You have to navigate a twisting mountain road to get there but it was not a dangerous trip. Very beautiful area and great tasting wines!

Get Up There!

By CarrieB63 |

Get off the beaten path, it’s only a 15 minute drive up the mountain and you will enjoy it. Book a tasting and tour of the wine cave, our guide was Jay and he did a terrific job. The vineyard sits astride the county line, part in Napa and part in Sonoma, it’s most interesting and the wines are fabulous.

Beautiful winery, great experience, beautiful spot to lunch (bring your own)

By Div L |

The winery is unique and beautiful. It is away from all the other vineyards - about a 30 minute drive up a mountain - and it is worth it. The overall property is beautiful. We did a tour which was very entertaining and personal (small group). It is a family owned winery that focuses on the client experience as opposed to some of other vineyards focused on simply executing a basic tasting and pushing wine purchases and shipments.

If you bring your own lunch (go to a market - get some charcuterie etc), they will package it up in a picnic basket with cutlery etc so that you can have a picnic after your tour. You can lunch on a hill top overlooking the vineyard. It is peaceful and beautiful.

Highly recommend.

Fantastic tour in a beautiful location!

By Ligaya M |

This was, by far, one of the most fun and formative wine tours we’ve taken! Jay is a fantastic guide - full of energy, facts and good cheer. Pride is a unique (straddling both Napa and Sonoma) and beautiful winery. And, everything we tried along the tour of the grounds and caves - Chardonnay, Merlot, different cabs - were all delicious. And, the wines are reasonably priced! We will definitely be back.

Really great experience!

By Elle B |

We came here for a family wine tasting. It was absolutely perfect. Our guide was incredible and tailored the experience to us. She took us all around and gave us the history of the wine/vineyard. We were new to these types of experiences and it was perfect. The vineyard was beautiful and the wine was great. Thank you Pride!

Fantastic View!

By TStan91 |

There is so much to like about Pride, it is hard to know where to start. The Winery and it's surrounding is breathtaking. The people are friendly and informative. The vineyards and the caves are amazing. I would highly recommend. The wine itself is overpriced considering the quality/complexity. I wish it was a little more available and approachable. But as an experience, you couldn't want any more. Nice job

Wine touring

By PennyandKatie |

Hard to find out of the way place with great wines. Jay, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Reasonable priced wines. Outstanding place for a picnic overlooking the Napa valley.

Informative tour and beauty away from the crowds

By Katherine F |

We booked a tour here after two different people within two days told us how much they enjoyed it. They were right! Fun, informative tour and very good wines. It’s a gorgeous place and well worth the drive. We did this the day we were moving over from St. Helena to Healdsburg, and we loved not having to backtrack. This is a great picnic spot - I almost hesitate to mention it because we had the place to ourselves on a Thursday and it was heaven. Amazing views from up where the tables are.

Creme de la Creme

By Kelley L |

I'm so glad we went to Pride! Wow, the location was unforgettable and the wine, the tour, and the tasting was by far our favorite. Jay was our guide and he's fun entertaining and smart. We loved every minute of our time on the mountain. Getting there is tricky, but it was worth the drive. Upon recommendation from the place we stayed, we took a picnic to have after the tour/tasting, up on the hill at the picnic tables. We got some excellent photos and were able to sit and relax, unhurried.

If you only had time for one winery

By Aviv T |

I'm often asked: "if you only had time to visit one winery in Napa, where would you go?" So without disrespect to many other wonderful establishments, which I love and frequent, I would have to say PRIDE.
Why? It offers the best wine experience to mavens and novices alike. It starts with the road up Spring Mountain which is winding and beautiful. Their tasting room is a marvel, and the vistas in all directions towards the Vineyards are stunning. If you get lucky, Kristina will expertly conduct a wonderful tour, culminating in barrel tasting of the newest Vintages as well as from bottles. Allow at least 2 hours, you are guaranteed to fall in love with the place, the people and the wine. Speaking of wine, Sally Johnson, one of the most brilliant CA winemakers is approachable and lovely, and even dedicated a bottle of Sangiovese for my father, when I took him there for his 75th birthday, for which I'm eternally greatfull.

Worth the drive, best wines

By Jose F |

Have always loved Pride Wines and have been wanting to visit the winery. The visit did not disappoint. The grounds are beautiful and the 90 min tour was both fun and informative. Our host Travis was really funny. The wines are amazing.

Don't let the drive scare you off!

By Jennifer F |

Beautiful winery on the border between Napa and Sonoma. (The county line goes through the facility.) Had a great educational tour with Jay. Walked around the property and discussed many of the different aspects of their wine making process. The caves were lovely and the private tasting room is amazing. Finished our tour with a picnic lunch on the property overlooking the valley. The wines were all amazing with something for everyone. As I'm sure you can guess, I joined the wine club!

Sensational Two County Vineyard

By Karen S |

We were welcomed with a warm smile and escorted through the winery by the most fabulous guide Nikki. The vineyard is unique in the fact that it resides in two counties , Napa and Sonoma. Nikki was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the vineyard, history of the land and creation of the different blends of wine. I would strongly recommend the winery and should you be fortunate enough to get Nikki as a guide please tell her hello from the author of The Enchanted Kingdom ❤️

Amazing Winery

By Debs |

When we come to California , Pride is always on our list. Excellent wine and the cave tour is top notch! Andy our guide was so nice and knows his wine !! Need a reservation, but so worth the drive up the gorgeous mountain !

Do not miss out!

By 12karh |

The was the first stop on our wine tours through Napa Valley and it was by far our favorite. The view is spectacular and the staff is extremely friendly. We arrived too early and were greeted with a wine sample to taste as we walked around the vineyard. The tour was a relaxed atmosphere where anyone could ask questions. I found some new favorite wines!

The right choice

By FatherofDragons71 |

TripAdvisor did it again! We visited based on the great reviews here. So glad we made the drive up the mountain. A special place, with very nice staff and breathtaking scenery. Tour was informative, and the wine, especially the merlot, was delicious!
Sales pitch at end was gentle, and frankly, strangely tempting - especially when feeling so tipsy at the end of a generous tasting session.
We didn’t go anywhere else in Napa or Sonoma, but definitely left feeling we had chosen a vineyard wisely.

Best wine tasting experience in Napa/Sonoma

By THOMAS B |

I heard a lot about the wine tasting experience at Pride Mountain Vineyards and wasn't disappointed. As a member of their mailing list, I was familiar with their Merlot and Cabernet Franc offerings. Jason, our host, was very knowledgeable, witty, and generous with his pours, including a reserve Cabernet Sauvignon at the end of the tour. Tasting in the caves was a special treat and views of the rolling vineyards were spectacular. Make reservations in advance, they sell out quickly, only 10 or so to a tasting.

Absolutely Overwhelming...

By mjzalord |

Tremendous visit to Pride Mountain. Was everything we expected it to be. My wife and I signed up for the Summit Tour for our treat on this 25th Anniversary trip. We were ushered into a private tasting room and were able to experience many of the reserve wines that are not part of the normal tasting experience. Beautiful grounds. Beautiful wines. Just a tremendous experience. The highlight of our Napa trip.

Fab winery

By Pyjama Llama |

This was the second wine tour of our day in Napa and I'm so glad we visited. Great hosts, who are very knowledgeable about the products, a very good selection of well-made wines and a beautiful location. It was a pleasure to be escorted around.

Wonderful wine & terrific tour!

By LFJ0706 |

We were recommended by a sommelier to visit Pride Winery and boy we are glad we did. From the moment we walked through the doors we were welcomed and felt part of the Pride family. The vineyard is located up on the hill. It feels a bit precarious driving there but well worth the view once you arrive. It straddles the line of Napa and Sonoma County so you are able to try wine with both grape varieties. The tour itself is great – Krista took us through the caves where the wine is stored, gave information about the history of the vineyard and their wine making process and we stopped along the way for our tasting (very generous tastings too). The wine itself is delicious – if only we could ship more back to Australia!

Delicious wines in a beautiful setting!

By ehd555 |

We enjoyed an interesting tour of the wine seller and hearing the history of the Pride family and their building the vineyard. After our tour we enjoyed a wonderful picnic with magnificent views.

Beautiful scenery and tour!

By Kate A |

The views were spectacular! We had such a fun tour guide. The caves were fascinating. We loved tasting a variety of white and red wines and learning about the vineyard. The drive to get to the winery was very windy with many twists and turns but beautiful.

Always our favorite winery!

By Justjimc |

We have been to Napa three times and this is by far our favorite winery. We definitely make time to visit each time. The wine is spectacular, they treat you like family, and their picnic site is relaxing with beautiful scenery. Highly recommend.

Spectacular views!

By Jennifer W |

I've been to Napa many times and have never discovered Pride before! A great suggestion by our hostess at Duckhorn! You need reservations! We did the tour of the winery through the caves and had a barrel tasting.. Beautiful vineyards! Spectacular views! Plan to spend at least an hour or more so worth it! Great merlot and Cabs! Known for their Cabfranc! Can't wait for our wines to arrive home to share with friends and family!

Best Tour/Tasting Ever

By DJonz |

This winery is small enough that you get a great overview of the process. We had a lesson on how the vines are cared for, watched the destemming and pressing process, toured the caves, and tasted several excellent wines. Tours don't get any better!

Absolute MUST do!!

By Kara S |

This was one of the best wineries I have ever been to. Our host Ashley was amazing, the tour was super interactive and informative and the wine was wonderful. The drive is about 20 minutes up the mountain but do NOT let that deter you, it is so worth it!!

Sensational!

By Pineapples-a-Plenty |

This is the holy grail ... an amazing sight to see. Some of the most scenic landscape in all the valley. Their tasting rooms and the cave are unique. Absolutely beautiful.

Our hostess was quite gracious throughout. And then there is the wine. Wonderful! Delicious! Our oenophile friend insisted we visit, and he was right on the mark ... these are phenomenal wines!

Can't wait to sample more vino from Pride!!!

Must Visit when touring wineries

By K2861VNthomass |

My favorite winery tour during our visit. Very imfomative tour. Especially interesting what is involved (taxes, labeling, etc) to sell the wine due to it being located within two separate counties. Enjoyed wine so much we just ordered another case to be shipped. They care about there customers and will only send to you if the temperature at ship and receive point are not hot enough to effect the wine.

Great cave tour

By pgalaska |

The caves at Pride mountain are newer so maybe not the gothic feel of other caves but it was fun to hear about the wines while tasting from the barrels while touring the caves. It ended in a beautiful tasting room. (we just passed through but it would be awesome to do a tasting there.) The outside patio was the best scenery we saw while we were in Napa. Very fun tour.

Must visit winery

By BelzSells |

We did a picnic at the property before our wine tour/tasting and the location was spectacular with some of the best views. A must when doing this wine experience. Great wines, great staff - Andy was our host. This is definitely one of my favorite wineries that I have visited.

A Hidden Gem----- A Must Stop

By winetravelers2014 |

One of the new wineries we visited during our 2017 Sonoma trip. It was a notable experience. The 6 1/2 mile drive up to the Pride from Sonoma can be quite harrowing but well worth it.
Our tour host, Tim, was amazing ---very informative and engaging. Winery sits literally on the dividing line between Napa and Sonoma. Great reds.
What more to say-----incredible tour host, very scenic location ,great history and great wines.
We hope they were spared any damage from the recent fires in the area

Welcoming and informative tour and tastjng

By melwender |

While we did not have the best weather to tour this gorgeous winery, the excellent guide and wines made the experience wonderful! I really enjoyed the barrel tasting and comparing that to the finished wines. It is clear that the people that work for Pride truly love the the winery. It makes for an amazing experience.

Great tour

By TruthNoBS |

OK - so I as rule don't want to go on a "tour" I have visited probably 60+ wineries over the years, gone on the obligatory tour to more than I care to. But the Pride tour was actually interesting, not to mention the wine tastings. Definitely recommend it - along with their wine, We bought a bottle of wine afterwards and had a nice picnic at the top overlooking the valley - plan accordingly to take advantage of this "perk".

Great Wine Tour & Wines

By thelatraveler |

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The drive is scenic (and adventurous for those who may not tolerate such a drive.) We were greeted with a glass of wine and/or soothing beverage for carsickness. The cave tour was enjoyable and educational. We loved the setting, tour, wines, and overall experience. Wished we could have spent more time here!

Perfect intro vineyard tour

By Melissa J |

This place is lovely, the staff is excellent, and it’s the perfect tour to start a trip in wine country. You see all aspects of the property - vines, caves, grounds. The wine is very tasty, too!

Top of its Class at Top of Spring Mountain

By THOMAS B |

Each time we come we are so glad we did. The drive up Spring Mountain Road is long, winding, but oh so beautiful. Once you get to PRIDE the vineyard views are amazing and the tasting room and winery caves are impressive. Best of all is the tour through the wine caves and tasting their high quality Merlots and Cabs, some straight out of the barrel. We took our visiting family there twice in November, just two weeks apart, and both experiences were great. Krista was especially charming and enthusiastic and shared a musical bond with my son, who was visiting from New York. My son and I both signed up for their members circle at the end of the tour. PRIDE will continue to be our "go to" winery to bring our out-of-town guests.

Yes, a renowned wine, crowd vs. quality

By Raúl E |

Pride was in my list of wineries to visit in Paso Robles, Napa and Sonoma. We did over 15 wineries in a week, and Pride was alright, beautiful scenery, but crowded, very crowded. Wines are good but we all agreed quality, regarding reds, was kind of low, considering how popular and famous they are. We could not try other reds besides basically Cabs, our host was very busy with a familly of 5 who were interested in almost everything. Yes, a very nice tour. Yes, a lot of people. A lot. If you want to get the same picture than everyone, go there. You get some barrel samples, not bad. The guy was very entertaining and knows how to deal with a group of 10. But I do personally enjoy a more intimate experience and better wines. For the price point, $30 is okay. But I did not buy anything. I felt like I was in Disneyland. This was a disappointing experience overall. We visited some other much better wineries with quality wines and better customer service. Beware of the marketing and choose the best (not the most popular) one.

Fabulous Surprise that was highly recommended

By mkinderman |

Highly recommend this beautiful winery and be sure to request Becky. We were so lucky to be able to get in (note by appointment only) and you won't be disappointed. The grounds were spectacular as well as the wine. Being a red only drinker - I did try their Chardonnay and it was wonderful. And you guessed it - we joined their wine club!

One of the Best Winery in many ways!

By Vince S |

Pride a top winery for me in several ways. First - the Wine - they make great wines. Viognier (try it) Chardonnay, Merlot and Cab. Pride straddles the Napa/Sonoma border and makes some of the best wines in each region. Wine club well worth the investment.
Second - The Tour - excellent tour and tasting. Knowledgable, cave tour and barrel tasting. Lots of fun.
Third - The View - let really on the top of Spring Mountain the views are incredible. Well worth the 15 minute drive up the mountain.

I highly recommend. Appointment required.

Excellent

By travelfreak100 |

Gorgeous vineyard with an exciting drive to get there (please make sure you're sober going up and down)! Andy, our tour guide, made our tour the best! He was by far our favorite tour guide of the day (we visitors 4 very nice and reputable wineries)! Loved this place and highly recommend!

Highly Recommend

By Karababe_64 |

This was our first tour in the region and the best. Anthony, our tour guide, was fantastic. Very informative and the tastings were integrated into the tour instead of being at the end. It was intimate and personal, our tour only had five people (on a Monday). The family owned winery was a special experience. I will come again next time I'm in the area.

Awesome Experience

By David L |

One of the highlights of our trip. The long and winding journey up the mountain was certainly worth it. Our tour guide Paul was probably the most informative and entertaining wine guide we ever had. The wives wanted to take him home with us. Loved the spectacular views and especially the caves and tasting wine directly from the barrel. Finished it off with a picnic on their property overlooking the valley. A must visit!

Its far, but well worth the trip

By BKenny01 |

Many of the best winery experiences I've had are at the more remote vineyards, tucked up in the mountains, away from the crowds who are there to post pictures on instagram. Pride is one of those places. The quality of the wine is worth the trip. The tour (ours was led by Paul, who did a great job), including a trip into their caves, is worth the trip... make sure you call ahead to schedule a tour, avoid the crowds down in the valley, and check out Pride.

Unexpected visit

By Renārs Ž |

We would like to thank PAUL for a wonderful experience with a wine tasting. We are very grateful for his warm welcoming in the wine farm. Absolute recommend for wine tasting in Pride wineyards - an amazing experience. Hello to Paul from Latvia.

Worth the drive! Must go!

By imbaileysmom |

The drive was long coming from south of Napa. The road was winding up and down. We arrived as the group tasting started. They were very welcoming. We had so much fun with the group we were in. The wine was excellent. The story and history were interesting, like many wineries who have their own history and story.

Wonderful views...wonderful wine

By Jedda1 |

Lovely views worth the drive up. Six flights and a while cave tour was cancelled with COVID we had a great visit with Ashley. Nice walk around and private so got to know much more about Pride and the wines. The Reserve Cab was awesome as is the Merlot

The best tasting experience we've had

By James O |

My wife and I have tasted quite a bit throughout the state, and while we've had a number of great experiences, Jay's tour was easily the best. I mean, from getting hands on with the vines to tasting from the barrels, it was fantastic. Jay was excited to teach us, never seemed like salesman, and went wherever we wanted to go. A great example is a question my friend had about barrels. Jay taught us how they're used, where they come from, what Pride's practices with them are, etc, without missing a beat. The wine is great, too. It's that perfect balance between quintessential Napa style and price. The reds were all smooth, delicate, and not too over-extracted. The chard was absolutely lovely with only a touch of oak. I highly recommend giving Pride a try.

Superb winery tour

By Phil Thomas |

If you make it up the mountain, you’re rewarded with great views and wonderful staff. We had Paul give us the tour and tasting and he was a riot of outrageous stories and compliments. Highly recommend you book this tour through the caves. Their merlot and spiked grape juice are superb :)

Beautiful setting!

By Avatar627 |

This winery is on top of a hill, straddling Napa and Sonoma counties. Beautiful drive to get here and exquisite grounds - especially the capacious wine cellar where part of the tasting is conducted! The tour/tasting was informative and not rushed. Well worth the trip!

Another Great tasting and tour with Rebecca

By gtratthelake |

Pride is a long time favorite winery. Great wines and beautiful views. Rebecca did a wonderful tasting and tour. Thanks so much for the special treatment.

Nice Place

By maxinel46 |

What a great experince and tour. Ann was our guide and she was great, knowledgable and fun. The wine was great too. Loved our time there.

Beautiful views, average wines, poor guest service

By Detroit Travel Gal |

Pride was our second stop on a day of wine tastings. The property is beautiful and the views are amazing, but overall, I was disappointed by our visit here.

The tasting room is quite dark and does not take advantage of the stunning views the property offers as soon as you step outside. Our host seemed irritated when we checked in for our reservation as he was busy with other customers, so we decided to wait outside while he finished with his other guests. Then he seemed irritated that we chose to wait outside of the over-crowded tasting room where we were in the way of others trying to get to the counter.

Once we started our tour, we sampled four wines and had a barrel tasting in the caves (which were in the process of being cleaned and were extremely wet and humid). The host was rather pretentious and talked more about himself more than the wines. He also had a lot of stories where he disparaged other past winery guests that had somehow offended him in some way. A large part of his “bit” was that many people enjoy trashy wines (of course PRIDE wines are not trashy). He then showed us the room where they do the “expensive tastings” and commented how we were “lucky” to see it as we hadn’t booked that tour.

At this point, we were beyond ready to leave. The wines were average, definitely not my favorite, so we did not purchase our usual 6 bottles and passed on the wine club. Although the property is beautiful, the negative customer service experience with the host really put us off. I would not recommend visiting and won’t be back.

Best wine tour ever

By Shinerjules |

My husband and I came here with some friends and had the most wonderful experience!!! We’ve been to lots of wineries, and this is definitely one of our favorites. The whole experience was personal, casual, informative, interesting and fun! If you can, request Katrina—she made us all feel like family. We even got to meet the wine maker! Overall, such a beautiful place with amazing wine!

Incredible visit with a great hostess!

By danyellekukuk |

We visited Pride Mountain a couple of weeks ago and can't say enough about this place. The views are breathtaking and the service was really great! We had Katrina and she was so incredibly knowledgeable and relatable --- that paired with the wine and the view made this quite the experience! We would highly recommend this experience... not only was the wine fantastic, but Katrina knew each one of us within minutes and was like one of us from then on. She was very professional, personable and knowledgeable. Great place to visit!!

What an unexpected jewel.

By Mudrazo |

Having visited wineries in the Napa Valley for nearly 30 years, I can’t believe I have not found my way to Pride Mountain sooner.
From the initial greeting to the informative walking tour of the property and the wine caves and finishing up at the tasting room for a final sample it could not have been more enjoyable.
I would like to give a shout out to our host Jay Hebert. He is extremely knowledgeable and tailored the tour to the group.
Now, on to the wines. It is a rarity to enjoy each of the offerings as was the case here. The Cabernet was the star however the Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay were wonderful as well.
This is truly a destination winery and well worth the 20 minute drive from St Helena.

Most amazing winery in Napa Valley

By kellyjV6959VX |

This is my second visit to Pride Mountain. First time was amazing and second time was even better as we brought our parents and sister in law, Jay was fantastic host and shared such great stories about this wonderful family and their wine. It is a bit of a drive but absolutely worth it. They make top 5 wine I have ever tasted and wine tour includes the caves . Thanks again Pride Mountain.

Beautiful setting and wines

By Charles V |

We are members here and each visit seems to invoke new memories. Next item we will do the summit tasting and hope to stop by while they do wood fired pizza

Generous tastes at the top of the mountain!

By Midfield3 |

Staff was great and entertaining. The tour took us into the caves and around the property where the harvest was underway. The drive up the mountain is very winding so make sure any car sick prone people sit in the front seat. Glad we stopped here. It was fun and the wine is good too!

Amazing tour - one of our favorite days in wine country!

By Kari W |

I cannot express how much fun our visit to Pride Mountain was. Paul was our person while we were there and from the moment we walked in the doors he made us feel welcome and comfortable. With our tour group (6 people) he knew each of us and kept us engaged. He was full of information and had great stories. He kept the wine flowing and really made the experience great for us. Also the property alone is gorgeous - there are so many different vineyards and the wines are exceptional. Would definitely recommend for any level of wine drinker as we had an incredible day!

Best winery in napa/Sonoma

Our 3rd visit to napa and easily our favourite wine experience so far. Beautiful scenery, amazing wine, family friendly but also intimate experience.

Tasting including, tour through cave and barrel sample!!

Must gp

Pride a Must

Nestled on the very top of Spring Mountain with both Sonoma and Napa bounderies . The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, if you mnake an appointment which is reccomended, you will take a tour through the wine cave and do a barel sample of some of there wines.

Stunning view and amazing wine

By Trina J |

3 couples enjoyed an outstanding tour by Jay who is enthusiastic, brilliant and clearly loves his job. The tour was one of our favorites. The winding road up the hill is worth the trip. Views are stunning. Wines delicious. An absolute must. Need to have a reservation.

Ask for Jay

By Brian M |

The wine is ok but the views are great and Jay is outstanding. Ask for Jay when you reserve so you learn more.

Loved this place!

By Luv2KeepTraveling |

The wine was amazing! We were served by Nikki who was wonderful and made the tasting so great! The grounds are beautiful and the wine spectacular.

Top Winery Experience Time After Time

By M T |

We just returned from another weekend in the Napa Valley... visiting a number of wineries, as we do a number of times each year. This weekend was highlighted by a trip up Spring Mountain to what has become our favorite winery.. Pride Mountain Vineyards.

What makes Pride so special out of the dozens and dozens of wineries we've visited in the valley? First off they make truly outstanding wines up on the mountain. Their Cabernet Franc might be might favorite wine in the world... but the Cab Sauv, Merlot, Sangiovese and Reserves are also outstanding. Secondly, the scenic views are amazing.. from the winery itself and from the picnic grounds at the top of the hill or down by the "ruins" of the old stone winery from the 1800s. But what keeps us coming back is the staff there.. and Jason Skelly in particular. Always a fun tour through the caves or vineyards to taste the wines, learn about the recent vintages, explore new winemaking techniques and to just share a laugh around life. :)

Thanks Jason (and everyone at Pride) for making our journey "up the mountain" well worth it every time!

One of my Favorites!

By uncorkedtravel |

Every time we go to wine country, this is a must stop! We were there July, 2016. Anthony was our host through the wine tasting and cave tour. He was very knowledgeable and very engaging. The view is spectacular. The wines are fantastic, and although I'm primarily a red drinker, their Viognier is out of this world. I order it by the case. I wanted to just take a bottle, sit and enjoy the view. We will be back next June!

Fabulous experience

By Sally v |

Someone recommended Pride Mountain to us and we were not disappointed.
The story and the vineyard are exceptional. Our tour guide Paul made it even better. He was so engaging and down to earth. We loved it, don’t miss this place.
Also, loved the fact that they give back to the community.
Once the fires are under control, we should support the people of Napa they will really need a lot of support.

Best winery, unparalleled views!

By Lin R |

Pride Mountain was the best winery my family of 4 visited on our recent trip to Napa Valley area. Getting there was slightly challenging, as it is located at the very top of the mountain, but thanks to GPS, we made it and boy was it worth it! Our tour guide Rebecca, was pleasant and knowledgeable, answering all of our groups questions about the property, history and wine making. We toured their wine cave, sampling different wines at different stations which I found more preferable than just sitting at a large table and served wine and cheese as some cave tours offer. Most memorable however, were the breathtaking vistas of the property and wine vines we were able to view. Great photo ops. Definitely a must visit site!

Favorite Winery In Sonoma Area

By Catmantoo |

It was an interesting and long drive up to this winery, which is on top of a mountain. However the drive was worth it. Absolutely fantastic views, excellent wine, and great tastings. What really made the visit great was the tour of the wine caves and the excellent guide that we had. If there is one winery to visit on your trip to wine country, I would recommend this one.

Definitely worth a visit

By bijou2006 |

You need to drive very far into the mountains and your iphone navigation may or maynot work due to weak 4G signals but it is definitely worth a try. Better to make a reservation in advance. Tasting and tour will take more than an hour so allow enough time if you are scheduling visits to other wineries. Chardonnay, viognier, merlot and cab. All very good. Truly interesting and educational tour including barrell tasting. Highly recommended.

Spectacular drive & scenic views

By MacaelaH |

We arrived at this vineyard based upon recommendation of a friend without reservation (we did reservations for the majority of our tours). Jay welcomed us with open arms and took us on a private tour from tasting grapes in the vineyard, educating us on assessing for proper ripening followed by tour of the facility & cave. Jay made us feel right at home & we really enjoyed many of their wines. We enjoyed the scenic drive up here so much as well as the beautiful views that we will definitely return on our next trip!

Amazing views and lovely wines

By Chrissyike9307 |

Be prepared for a long ride up the mountain to get here. It's at the top of the mountain but worth the crazy drive. We were greeted in the tasting room with a glass of wine and then the assembled group took off to tour the caves. Our guide Allison was wonderful! We stopped along the way to have several tastings, even one from a barrel. The wines were amazing but the scenery is breath taking. There's a picnic area with tables a short drive from the tasting room. We were able to catch them bottling and packaging while there which was fun to see. This tour is worth the money! You won't be disappointed here.

Great wine tasting experience!

By Robert A |

Jay Herbert was our tasting guide. He was very personable and
knowledgeable. His explanations of the Pride winery origins, the winemaking industry, and he different wine varieties were informative.
Spectacular vista. We took a lot of pictures!

Absolutely gorgeous!

By Stacey C |

We came to Pride Mountain for a bachelorette party. Everything about it was amazing. Andy was our guide and he was so knowledgeable and just FUN. He told us the best photo ops, gave a great history of grounds and tour in general, and is absolutely passionate about what he does. The views at this place can't be beat. Andy went above and beyond to make it a special experience for us. You ABSOLUTELY need to go here and do yourself a favor and request Andy if possible :)

Breathtaking!

By Augusta K |

The drive to the vineyard is beautiful- even if it is a bit twisty. The view! The secluded spot! The caves! And then ... the Summit experience!
We had Andy as our guide and host - he was personable, knowledgeable and thoughtful!
The wines were wonderful, as expected, at this fine winery!
The Summit Experience exceeded our expectations!
Yep, we are now club members!!! But not because we were talked into it, but because we didn’t want to leave without some wine following us home!

A Unique and Excellent Experience

By Katrina T |

Pride is a drive but absolutely worth it hands down. Not only are the grounds beautiful, the scenery breathtaking, but the wines are consistently good. Our host was knowledgeable and navigated us through the phenomenal tunnels filled with barrels of wine. HD we had more time in our traveling schedule, we would have spent more time there. We will definitely be back!

Out Of The Way And Worth The Drive

By Rick W |

Hi atop the beautiful Spring Mountain Road drive lie a number of smaller and out-of-the-way vineyards well worth visiting. Often less crowded with smaller but quaint tasting rooms, you not only get a more authentic Napa (St. Helena) experience, you also often get to have great conversations with the owners themselves. Pride Mountain is one such place. If you have a chance - GO! You will not be disappointed.

Summit experience was top-notch

By Anne C |

4 of us had the pleasure of spending nearly 2 hours with Allison - learning about Pride Mountain wines, touring the cave, and tasting the best of the many wines we tasted during our recent 4 days in Napa. It is a little tricky navigating the steep and winding road to this mountain-top winery. We were more than amply rewarded by Allison’s engaging personality and by the amazing experience in the cave tasting room. A bit pricey but well-worth it. Highly recommended.

6 STARS! Best winery tour by far!!

By Natalie U |

We traveled in a group of 9. Out of the 5 wineries we visited Pride was by far all of our favorite. The view is amazing for a picnic lunch (we picked ours up from Oakville Grocery). Paul gave an absolute stellar tour, and he was as personable as you can get while also providing a lot of interesting information about the winery. Between the caves, the unique stacking of tasting wines straight from barrels, all of the delicious wines, the view and many laughs we had along our 90 minute tour, Paul and Pride knocked it out of the park! This should be #1 in St. Helena on Trip Advisor!

Gorgeous & delicious - Ask for Paul!

By Kelsey M |

Went to Pride with my family and did the cave experience - including my pregnant sister - and had a great time! Paul was our guide, and was both informative and enjoyable. He gave just enough information, without getting too technical AND gave good pours! We explored the caves, which was fun and he gave us an extra taste of a white. Following our tour Paul we had a great chat with Paul - he was very sweet after learning my sister's husband was in the military, and even comped our tasting as an ode to her bundle of joy (with the promise we would return for her to enjoy the tasting!) We've been drinking Pride for years and have always loved the wine, but it was a truly great experience at the vineyard with Paul.

The views are spectacular on top of the mountain! And they had picnic tables where you can enjoy some lunch & vino, while taking in the views. Highly recommend!

wonderful

By Lynnbrownstone |

The Estate Experience is such a wonderful way to learn about this vineyard and to soak in the mountain view. The wine tasting is enjoyable with Becky.

Pride aka the drive to Hana

By DakoPauge |

This was a good visit with nice wine! We thoroughly enjoyed. The caves are incredible. The tour offered a nice blending experiment that we didn't get anywhere else. We learned quite a bit here!

Worth the Trip up the Mountain

By Maps42005326167 |

Class act! Fabulous wines, incredible views and picnic area and extremely knowledgeable staff. We were up the mountain that day and I wanted to check on my club delivery. Wendy was very congenial and took care of everything I needed. We saw Paul the previous year and asked if he had any time. Wendy was so nice and helpful; she checked with him – and even though we didn’t have an appointment – Paul took the time, sat down with us and again we had an awesome experience. He makes the experience fun and enjoyable plus he is so familiar with wines, pairings and the winemaking process. Their hospitality is top notch!

Beautiful ride up the mountain

By legsbell |

The drive is winding, but beautiful and well worth the effort. Pride prides itself on providing not only exceptional wine, but an exceptional tour experience, with barrel tasting in the cave. This is an appointment only winery so plan ahead.

Just visit them and you'll understand

By Andy A |

Honestly, there's not much I can say that hasn't already been written by previous reviewers. Yes, the drive to Pride Mountain at the top of the Mayacamas Mountains is an experience in and of itself (be careful). The reception is warm. Then with glass of wine in hand the tour begins, traveling through the vines, the caves, learning about their unique position on the Napa-Sonoma border marked on the ground and in the vineyards. Barrel tastings, as well as current releases. Then back to the tasting room for a bonus tasting and to learn how to acquire PMV wines. Beautiful place, great experience, excellent wines...if you can stomach the drive. :)

Paul is the Best!!

By Footp |

Take a visit to Pride Mountain. A combination of Napa and Sonoma combined at the top of the hill, so the scenery is fantastic. The tasting includes a brief cave tour and barrel tasting so you get a little bit of all in a visit. A Must for those that want to have fun and have some good cab and cab franc. Tell them Dave and Val sent you!!

If only had one winery to visit while in Napa area, this would be the one!

By TravelistheGoal |

Drive was a little far, but well worth it. The scenery/views were as good as it gets. The wine is incredible and not easy to get back home. The wine cave tour was really informative.

Lovely Vineyard! Delicious Wine!

By BACB |

This vineyard was recommended by our host at another vineyard, so up the mountain we went! The drive through the shady, curvy road was a delight. We were graciously welcomed by our guide with a tasty glass of Chardonnay. We learned a great deal about this family owned vineyard, their history, and their dedication to farming and wine making. The tour took us into the storage caves where our guide offered tastings, including a tapping from the barrels! We highly recommend taking the time to take this journey and explore Pride Vineyards! Their Cabernet is delicious!

Take this tour!

By Denise H |

Pride Mountain Vineyards was our favorite vineyard and tour and we sampled a lot of wines and vineyards! Andy was a patient, kind and knowledgeable tour guide. There was a woman on our tour who had limited mobility, Andy carried a chair so that she could sit during the cave tour. We asked a lot of questions, he happily answered all of them. Take this tour, you won't be disappointed, but call a week or two in advance to ensure a reservation.

Girls Trip Winery Tour

By Kristy M |

Mark, our winery tour guide, was amazing! He was witty and full of knowledge! Truly appreciate all that you did to help us learn the history of the winery and the art/science of wine making!!! Was a beautiful location!

Amazing is an understatement!!!!

By whitney_willard |

My Husband and I went last week for our Anniversary, along with 2 of our friends. The drive was tricky but fun at the same time and well worth the view at the top. Out of the 14 wineries we visited this one far exceeded them all. The wine was amazing as was the tour!! I think the best part of all was our tour guide Paul. He was very knowledgeable and so much fun, he totally made the experience!! We will be back in the future.

Nikki was amazing!

By Danielle Boehringer |

We did the Summit experience with Nikki and would highly recommend! This is the VIP treatment with a private tasting in the most beautiful room (with charcuterie) that opens up to an amazing view.. Nikki provided tons of education on Napa as well as Pride, which I love! Finish it off with a cave tour, barrel tasting and the purchase of multiple bottles!

Learning new things.

By John G |

Visited Pride on top of Spring Mountain yesterday with my wife. For starters, it has a wonderful view, like many Napa vineyards. Our host, Andy, was fantastic. Informative but without the pedantic canned speech approach that one can get at other vineyards. He was informative not only about the wines, but also the business aspects of Pride. And the wines are excellent. Certainly worth the trip.

The only winery you need to visit

By Lianna @thisworldmyview |

This is my second trip to the Napa Valley and of all the vineyards in the valley the tour, knowledge and hospitality of the sommeliers is unmatched. The property is breathtaking, so be sure to take some time and walk the grounds, take in the view and enjoy the best tasting in the valley.

Pride is uniquely located in both Sonoma and Napa, with the county line running through the vineyards themselves allowing for distinction from both counties to be present in their wines.

Now for the best part! The wine! I assure you if you have a pallet for a Cabernet that will leave all others behind, do not leave here without a bottle of the Cabernet reserve, it is exquisite and needs to be tasted to be understood. Their Merlot will make you fall in love with red wine in a way you forgot possible. If you are fortunate enough to visit when the Cabernet Franc is available, I will simply say there are few things you will taste that will come close to the experience of this beautifully crafted red.

Some say the drive up the mountain is difficult, I would say depending on your vehicle, and the consumption of wine prior to the drive, will play into that. I found the drive to be breathtakingly picturesque, but something if you get carsick and are in the back of a larger vehicle might not be as enjoyable as you wind up the snaking mountain drive. However, whatever you vehicle, do not steer away from visiting Pride, it is worth every turn!

Fascinating tour in beautiful setting

By chloeLondon |

This was an absolute high point, both physically and metaphorically of our holiday.

Pride Mountain is right at the top of the mountain, straddling the Napa and Sonona county line, with its own network of caves dug into the mountain to keep the wine cool. From Napa downtown you wind your way 5 miles up the mountain and shortly after you've reached the top and started coming back down, reach Pride Mountain vineyard.

Well, what a place! It's a stunning vista, in a secluded serene setting. Our tour guide Paul was entertaining, knowledgeable and full of fantastic anecdotes and nuggets of information (eg Pride is one of two vineyards most frequently called on, to provide wines for dinners to State guests at the White House).

It is also fascinating to hear how the Pride family came into the wine business, from Mr Pride's previous career as an internationally renowned dentist, the bureaucratic complexities of having a vineyard which sits in both the Napa and Sonoma counties which have different regulations; also the effect of location and climate on different grapes in the wine-making process.

You are shown around the candlelit mountain caves containing hundreds of French oak barrels of wine, as well as their beautiful panelled summit room, during which you are given about 6 generous tastings of (mostly red) delicious wines.

The personal touch you get with the tour is a world apart from the other tour we did the same day at another vineyard, which was a 'self-guided' tour ie you read the display boards. We finished the day with a picnic at the tables overlooking the vineyards, where there was not another soul to be heard or seen. Bliss! Exceptional and highly, highly recommended, if you're just going to do one tour, make it this one.

The drive there is worth it

By Ron P |

We heard about Pride at our domicile and made the trip up the hill to see it. By appointment only, we just dropped in and were lucky enough to get the final tour of the day. Without question the best tour we took, the location is spectacular, the wines top notch; a fabulous experience one should have when visiting wine country.

We LOVED this place!

By kklammer |

We went here on our way to Sonoma and had a wonderful experience. Our host Dana was fantastic, funny, personable and did a great job with our group. The cave system was truly magnificent and so interesting. The grounds were breathtaking with the rolling hills and mountains around- very picturesque. The biggest surprise was the amazing pizza oven outside with a fresh pizza waiting for us at the end of our tasting! The wine was wonderful too. We loved our time here!

Great tour and wine

By Ecogirl06 |

MY husband and I attended the full tour with Anthony, and we had a great time. He was very knowledgeable about the winery and wine. The wine itself was fantastic, probably the best wine we had at any winery we attended. We had a picnic on a hill near the winery, and the view was amazing. The only problem with this winery is the terrible trip up the mountain. The road is very narrow and curvy, causing a bit of motion sickness on the way up and down.

Wow

By Velissimo |

I have been to numerous wineries but this one is one of the absolute best there is. Located at 2300ft elevation the Pride Vineyard is not only beautiful where it is, the
property is gorgeous and the architecture mind blowing. The man build caves that host the barrels are quite comfortable to tour. Not much mold! We had Andy Nies as our tour guide, that guy is awesome, he really likes his job! Best part of the tour is that is handicap friendly, handicap parking is leveled with the tasting room and nothing is in the way during the tour, they offered a wheel chair to a friend of mine
that needed a walker to get around, first class service.
We will be back.

Unique vineyard, excellent tour

By zhen537 |

We had Jay as our guide, he incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about their fantastic wines. Our whole group had a lot of fun on the tour. Would highly recommend.

Great ride up the Mountain and Great wines at the top

By Jose J |

A nice 5 mile or so curvy, winding road up Spring Mountain that leads to a wonderful winery at the top. Fantastic 360 degree views are just the beginning of a delightful morning. We had made an appointment a few weeks early for the $20 tour and tasting. Kristi was a charming host who began with a generous pour of an elegant Chardonnay and then took us through the caves. Loved walking amongst the oak barrels and then enjoyed a young barrel tasting followed by more Cabernet and Merlot. Very enjoyable day plus good wines to taste or buy. Don't worry about the drive and just go!!

Beautiful experience

By _lbouret345 |

What a great tasting on top of spring mountain. Krista was very knowledgeable and we loved all the wine. Very windy road very happy that we hired a driver! Fun experience

great wines and excellent tour by Jessica

By MariettaEdw |

very unique winery in that part of it is in sonoma and napa. the county line straddles the winery. $20 tasting and tour is very reasonable for the quality of wines, pours and the tour. Jessica gave a great tour thru the wine caves and all of the wines were excellent. while not cheap in price the quality of the wine per price point is fair.

Exceptional

By njc003 |

Our experience with Pride Mountain was absolutely phenomenal. The ground were gorgeous and the cave tour was amazing. Pours were also generous but left us wanting more and more. Our favorite winery experience in Napa.

An Amazing Experience!

By Evan F. |

Our visit to Pride Mountain Vineyards was a fantastic experience from beginning to end and we especially enjoyed seeing the caves (and tasting the wine, of course)! Our guide for the tour, Mark, was simply amazing! If you're planning a visit, which you definitely should, ask for him to make your visit even better.

Best Winery Visit

By steelcity872016 |

What a surprise. Our visit to Pride Mountain Vineyards turned out to be the best winery visit on our recent visit to Napa. This is a hidden gem we hadn't heard of before but will certainly be returning. The drive up the mountain, which is a little crazy, is well woth it. The knowledge and passion of our tour/tasting guide, Jay, made the visit even more exceptional. The facility is impressive and the views are spectacular. HIghly recommned adding this to a list of wineries to visit.

Beautiful Scenery

By SaskatoonSunLover |

We were directed to Pride Mountain by our bed and breakfast hostess. She made our reservation for the winetasting. We took a picnic lunch to enjoy at their picnic area before our appointment. It was stunning. The wine tour was excellent and our hostess was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We were a group of about 12. We started out in the tasting room and then wandered out through to the wine caves where we stopped and tasted wine. There were 3 stops. We ended by coming out of the caves with beautiful views of the area. After the tasting, we went back to the picnic area, finished our wine and just visited and enjoyed the scenery and took lots of pictures. What a special way to spend an hour!

Great tour

By Mike W |

Pride is located on the very top of a mountain on the border of Napa and Sonoma. There beautiful views, fabulous wine and great people there. We found Pride to be one of the best tours on our vacation. Our guide, Rebecca was entertaining and knowledgeable. The Pride family goes to great lengths to provide quality wines. Worth a visit.

Proud of Pride!

By 16Bonnie |

My step-brother recommended visiting Pride, and what a great recommendation! Pride is an incredible vineyard! The tour and tastings were both fabulous. We learned so much from our sommelier about the vineyard, wines, and the entire area. The windy road to the top of the mountain was gorgeous! I highly recommend visiting. Call to set up an appointment first as reservations are the way to go. The tour through the caves and grounds is well worth it. Our only problem was finding a way to get all the wine we bought back home! :)

Wonderful views...wonderful wine

By Jedda1 |

Lovely views worth the drive up. Six flights and a real nice cave tour. The merlot was fabulous and the cab not far behind. Great to complete with photo opportunity.

Great wines, small group tour

By traveller0921 |

Some great wines and a nice small group tour and tasting with a very friendly guide. Nevertheless, their tours are led by people who do this full time and have a polished set speech rather than people who actually make the wine and can really engage with connoisseurs on their product.

One of my two favorite wineries

By Brewer4 |

We visited 5 wineries, (plus a 6th for lunch only), and Pride was the biggest, most scenic and had our favorite wines. Set atop a mountain, that took about 20 minutes up a winding road to get to, it was well worth the time to get there.

We tasted our first wine at the impressive, wooden counter, then moved through the property, with our wine glass in hand, stopping at various spots to try another of their delicious wines.

They took us through the caves where wines are stored in oak barrels , many aging for years. This happens to be the only winery that literally sits partially in Napa and partially in Sonoma! Look for the brick dividing line in the processing area.

Saw them processing the grapes too. Quite an operation they have. Quite impressive as it is still family owned and operated by the wife, son and daughter of the owner who passed away.

This would be a great setting for a wedding or other group meeting.

We had two girls on our tour who work at Gallo wines, and they said this was their favorite winery !

Worth taking the time to get here!

Stunning property with amazing views and even better wine...

By Jason H |

Pride was by far our favorite stop on our Napa trip. The drive up the hill was beautiful and when you get to the top and look around at the surrounding mountains it's even better! The tour through the caves was both interesting and enlightening as was the challenges they have being half in Sonoma and half in Napa and how they have to deal with the different regulations of being in each. The wines were reasonably priced and delicious. Their Merlot is one of my favorite Merlot's and their Syrah really delivers.

I highly recommend Pride for a visit.

Incredible people, property and wine

By Debbie V |

We have been enjoying Pride Mountain Wines for several years, thanks to friends who introduced us. This was our first visit to the incredible property. Allow yourself some time to walk the property before or after your appointment/tasting. Jay, our tasting guide, made the difference for us on this visit, creating a personable and memorable experience. Jay is a joy: just plain nice, genuinely interested in each person, very knowledgable and passionate about wines and Pride Mountain. Our tour started with tasting Chardonnay and then moved onto Merlot and Cabs. We went into their cave and even did a barrel tasting. The wines are superb. I also very much appreciated learning that their land management staff are full time employees and have on average 20 years of work with Pride Mountain. That dedication shows through in their wines.

Our favorite winery

As others have stated their reviews the drive up the mountain is an experience in itself but we had no problems finding the winery and really enjoyed the changing beauty of the landscape. The views from the winery at the top are out of this world. It was almost too beautiful to believe and pictures just don't do it justice. It's like a painting come to life. We opted for a tour/tasting combination and Jason was extremely knowledgeable, relatable and funny. Their wine is outstanding - we bought several bottles!

Cave tour

By NWAtravelers |

Absolutely beautiful grounds. Really good wines. We had a picnic after outdoors at the viewpoint that was the perfect spot. Love this site.

Very beautiful grounds

By travelmum21 |

The grounds and view are awesome. Pride is uniquely situated half in Napa County and half in Sonoma County so the tour explained how that affects their labeling. The tour was pretty extensive and the wine was good. The highlight for us was the views. There was this awesome picnic spot that has to just be amazing when it's warm. It was too windy and cold for us to enjoy it. Our tour guide was nice but seemed a little rehearsed. Can't wait to visit again sometime when we can really appreciate the outdoor space.

Breathtaking Scenery, Delicious Wine & Attentive Staff

By Mike W |

What more could you ask for....We spent the day on Spring Mountain and the views are absolutely beautiful. We began the morning with the private tasting at Pride Mountain and it was more than we could have hoped for. Beautiful setting, tasty wines and super friendly staff. A must visit!!!! Also a picnic area that is one of the best in Napa. Check with winery on requirements.

Best winery in the valley

By Madeline B |

This was our second visit to Pride after an outstanding visit two years ago with Brittney (shoutout! She is an icon!!!)

The staff is top-notch, the ambiance is stunning and the wine is truly out of this world. There are many nice wineries in the Napa Valley - Pride Mountain is the crown jewel. We built our entire trip on this winery’s availability, that is how outstanding it is.

When you ask locals in the wine industry where they go to wine taste, they say Pride!!! That’s all you need to know!!!

Great history

By Jessie L |

Pride Mountain was set as the name would suggest, quite a ways up a winding drive to the top of a mountain. Beautiful views. The tour began in a somewhat stuffy wood paneled room to the wine cave, where we had a very interesting history lesson on the origins of the winery with tastings of their Cabernet Sauvingnon, Syrah, and Merlot interspersed, including a barrel tasting. Afterwards, we had the opportunity to taste other wines which were not on the tasting menu if desired (we asked about the Viognier, which is excellent) and purchase bottles/join the wine club. My husband and I enjoyed our visit here and would certainly come back! The staff were all incredibly warm and personable.

One of the Best

By Kelly D |

Finally splurged for the seated experience, and it was worth every bottle of wine we bought from it. Spent time in the cellars barrel tasting, as well as doing vertical and different blend tastings. Our wine educator was magnificent. Would highly recommend everyone buy as few bottles as possible from here, so that I can get them all.

The view is equal to the experience and quality of wine!

By chrismarric |

Everyone says go to Pride for the view. The view is spectacular but the tour and the wine were as well. We had a blast with Paul Smith, shipped some wine home. Had lunch in their picnic area with a bottle of their Merlot. I will say, if you get car sick, take your time getting up there. it's worth it but you need a minute when you get to the top to get your bearings. But don't let that stop you. You do not want to miss this one. Reservations required.

Heaven on the mountain!

By Jill R |

My friends and I did a girls wknd Napa trip and my sister in law is a member of this winery. I have had the pleasure of having their wines before and this was a place that was on my bucket list of vineyards to try. I absolutely loved this place. Our guide and server, Mark Ferguson was the best. He made the tour and whole experience one of the best I've ever had in Napa. I learned a little bit more on this trip than I had on any other tour or trip. I hope to come back again one day to this vineyard, sooner rather than later! This is a vineyard that really stands up to their reputation.

Top of the Mountain

By ChaseyK |

We have been members of Pride for quite a few years and always make a point of stopping here when anywhere close to Napa Valley. We opted for the Summit Tasting and Andy was kind enough to assist with our journey through the various Pride offerings. Although it is not the easiest tasting room to locate, once you have arrived and tasted the wines, you don’t want to leave. On this trip, Andy had not only selected very special wines for our tasting, he helped us create our own blend from the barrels (just a couple of glasses) as well as had a couple,of other hidden gems that we were not aware. He is extremely knowledgeable on the various varietals and blends and, granted what isn’t there to enjoy at this job, the sprit of family that permeates Pride comes across and you see that with each and every person working there. Pride is award winning, but not snobbish like similar wineries down in the valley. Make a point of making ride to Pride, ask for Andy and enjoy great wines.

Great wine tasting and tour

By Nicolas v |

Our host Jay was knowledgeable, funny, and put everyone at ease. The wines were very good and the tasting educational. Beautiful setting -- worth the drive up the mountain for something a little off the beaten track.

Winery Tour and Picnic

By Bill M |

The tour by Nikki was excellent. She described the wines expertly without being a saleswoman.
Since it was raining she arranged for our group to have our picnic in the wine cave.
The wines were some of the best I have tasted.

Hands down- best winery!

By lewing28 |

Our visit to Pride Mountain was one that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Paul was a fabulous guide - great sense of humor, knowledge and intentionality with the guests on the tour! The drive up is a little windy - but definitely worth it. It's so quiet and peaceful at Pride Mountain and the wines were sooooo good. Thank you Paul for the experience of a lifetime and treating us with such grace and hospitality! We will be back!

Went there because of TripAdvisor

By TravelandvacationJer |

Unique winery. Great story. Great people. Worth the time. Booked because it was #1 on TripAdvisor. Glad we went.

Off the beaten path but worth it!

By Larry M |

Long drive up the mountain pays off with stunning views and fabulous wines. Great cave tour and barrel tastings, and the lowest tasting fee in the Valley, which they waive if you purchase their wines. It's easy to see why they are one of the highest rated attractions on TripAdvisor. Highly Recommended.

Awesome cave tour

By Breaking1 |

Great 1.5 cave tour with great wine tasting and awesome guided tour. Very weird to get to but keep going if you think you are lost.

Best Winery in Napa Valley

By Natalia V |

We got to Pride following Trip advisor's reviews and I an so glad we did. We were coming from Castillo d'Amoroso and quite disappointed with our visit there. This was different. The property is not in the valley but about a 30 minute tortuous ride to the hills. The place is peaceful and the view to the vineyards is beautiful from up there. To begin with payment was not upfront. Paul, our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The history of the property is quite interesting because uniquely situated between the limits of Sonoma and Napa counties. The visit was slow and pleasant and we were not rushed. The wines were actually good! Especially their Merlot. We were traveling with our 11 year old son and despite being the only child in our group, Paul managed to make him feel at ease and enjoy the visit. We were visiting from Colombia and although with much less knowledge, I would definitely agree with the reviewer from San Francisco that prompted me to visit Pride:" if you have time to visit only one vineyard while in Napa Valley, go to Pride Mountain vineyards "

Gorgeous views, wonderful wone

By djschmike |

We visited as part of our anniversary trip. The drive up the mountain was beautiful, the view from the vineyard was stunning, and the wine was delicious. We would definitely visit again!

Best vineyard experience!

By Debbie P |

We visited numerous vineyards but Pride was clearly the most memorable! We really enjoyed ourselves and for $20, we get to tour the vines, taste the excellent wine and go through the caves and taste wine straight from the barrel. Our guide was Jason and he was really nice and knowledgeable! Thumbs up!

Top of the Mountain - Pride Mountain is tops!

By SaySold1 |

This was our 4th or 5th visit to Pride over the years, but this past visit was by far the most informative and entertaining/enjoyable.

Our wine guide Paul was so exceptional at his work representing Pride – a caring & knowledgeable person, never arrogant – always on point (funny) and frankly one of the best wine tour guides my wife and I have met in over 30 years of visiting Napa. He is just WOW 😊 I know everyone felt that way – especially my wife’s family and friends from Norway who were visiting Napa for the 1st time.

We arrived 90 min earlier than our appointment - after our tour at neighboring vineyard Keenan which was abruptly ended at the start because their boisterous big dog had gotten into something poisonous and was foaming at the mouth and in distress. So we left early…(we later found out that the dog was OK thank goodness after an emergency vet run).

That was jarring & scary enough, but when I arrived early @ Pride with a busload of 10 and asked Paul what to do – he didn’t hesitate or miss a beat… rolling with the situation, and starting us early on easily the best Cave tour we have ever had😊

Many Napa vineyards seem to have gone into a kind of automatic mode – going through the swirling motions, not listening to their customers on tour – pushing customers to buy/buy at the end without ever connecting with them.

However what you have with Paul is a truly gifted “connector” – a man who plainly loves his work, knows Pride inside the caves & out – and makes each guest feel as though they have had a very unique experience.

We have always loved Pride as both a winery and source of outstanding juice. We are Spring Mountain fans for 20+ years (we knew Barbara and Jim at Paloma + we love Schweiger, Sherwin Family, and we are longtime Spring Mountain Vineyard club members). When you try the wines on Spring Mountain you will discover the biggest and richest reds in Napa - complex wines with aging potential.

Our stop at Pride last Sunday was the last stop on our 3 day tour, and it left a delicious taste in everyone’s mouths. It made my wife's 50th even more memorable.

The vino at Pride Mountain is TOP drawer - their famous Merlot is a monster of deep richness and structure, with massive aging potential. We are fans of the Cab as well & Chardonnay - all the wines at Pride are some of the best you will taste in Napa. Well worth a drive up the mountain. You will not easily find these incredible wines are your local store - do yourself a favor and experience the magic of Pride (and seek out Paul).

1ST Vineyard, What a way to start!

By jacksprat21 |

Wow, I'm so glad that this was my first Vineyard! I was educated in the most interesting way! Our Tasting was awesome, and the view was beautiful!

Excellent winery tasting and tour

By NebraskaFan71 |

We did our second visit to this winery and were not disappointed. We had scheduled our visit and the staff did a great job taking care of us. The winery tour was conducted in a small group setting and was very informative. You have to navigate a twisting mountain road to get there but it was not a dangerous trip. Very beautiful area and great tasting wines! Very educational, too.

A Wonderful Visit

By Bill B |

When there's over 500 vineyards in the Napa and Sonoma Valley areas, how do you pick which ones you would like to visit. One option is to check TripAdvisor, which we did and we identified Pride Mountain Vineyards based upon the recommendations of others. We made a reservation and spent almost two hours with Jay, our guide. Jay was wonderful. He thoroughly explained how Pride Mountain Winery creates the highest quality wines -- plus the views are an added benefit. It was an exceptional morning and we would highly recommend it to others. Another benefit -- the wines are exceptional.

Loved it!

By FloridaFamilyof5 |

Thank you Paul for the wonderful tour, tasting and sharing your knowledge and wonderful views with us. We had heard Pride was not to be missed and we are glad we didn't!

Beautiful Location

By markmwilson |

This was my first visit to this winery. It's a bit of a drive to get to but well worth it. The location, just over the crest of the hills above Napa valley is stunning. A very informative tour and some very goo wines.

Napa and Senoma

By Jim Perkins |

On top of the mountain dividing Napa and Senoma valley just below Calistoga wine district you will find a diamond in the ruff called Pride Mountain Vineyards. It is a drive up the mountain so drive carefully around the winding scenic roads to reach the top. Look for the signs once you get close. GPS is a little off. Make reservations before you go as the cell service is spotty. Plan on 1 hour minimum for the tour. Wine tasting, cave barrel tasting, special wine tasting room and finish with a little food before going back to main room to purchase your wine. The vineyard has a demarcation line. You can stand 1 foot in each wine district. The wine is good and the views are special.

Magnificent Setting on Top of the Mountain

By PirateLA40 |

Pride Mountain Vineyards was recommended to us as a special place to visit, and indeed it was. The drive up the mountain was quite interesting in our under-powered rental car, but we made it. The tours are all guided with several people in each group, and reservations are required.

The setting is certainly one of the best parts about the vineyard, the the mountaintop views are gorgeous. The tour takes you through the caves and the guide did a very good job explaining their unique processes. Many good photo opportunities as you walk through the grounds.

Gorgeous Views and Great Wines!!

By Laurie P |

Becky was our guide for this experience. Before our tour we had an amazing picnic lunch on property with incredible views. Pride is split between Sonoma and Napa, and have to show the % of grapes from each area on every bottle.
The caves are cool! We ended up buying Cab Sav ($85) and Merlot ($75) to take home with us. Tasting and Tour was $45 each. Hubby even bought a T-shirt honoring the windy drive up to Pride.
Great experience!!

Great visit!!

By Bao N |

This place is very unique: the beautiful winery is on top of Spring Mountain, and the only winery that splitter by the Napa and Sonoma county line. A $20 tasting fee includes a very informative tour and a visit to the cave. Guests will be tasting 5 wines during the tour. Jay Hebert give us the tour. He was funny, friendly and a great story teller. The wines were great!! By and large, for only $20, it's (if not) one of the best tour in "Napoma/Sonapa" area!

By far the best winery

By Seunghye H |

This is our second visit to Pride and we came back because we had an amazing experience the first time and the second time was even better. This was our first stop on this day and we spent 2.5 hours there. Our host Andy was amazing and made our visit so much more. Not only was the tour amazing on a beautiful property but the wine is one of the best in my opinion. The drive up to Pride is less desirable if you get car sick easily. But once you get there it’s completely worth it! Pride has to be a must stop of in wine country!

Pleasurable experience

By Natalie K |

Mark was a knowledgeable friendly host who was passionate about the vineyard and answered every question we asked. A beautiful drive up from St Helena made it all even better. We meet the wine maker before she set out to check on her vines and spent over 2 hours with Mark in the man-made caves, sampling out of barrels.

Sets the bar

By CliveWatkins |

It's hard to find or say anything bad about this. The wines are wonderful to discover, and their setting high on the mountain is just perfect. It's well worth the ride up to taste these high quality products. These a e not inexpensive, but they exemplified why we drink good wine. Anyway pack a lunch and bring it with you, then buy a bottle to accompany your lunch overlooking the area. A most pleasant afternoon. Take your time and enjoy this setting.

Unique winery!

By Jeramie R |

My husband and I popped in to visit this winery on our trip to Napa. We lucked out getting Jay as our guide. This winery actually has the county line through the property. So it keeps two books and distinct areas for the wines. It sits higher up and the views are spectacular! The caves are always fun. The wines are spectacular and vegan!

Pride Mountain Tour/Tasting - the best Napa has to offer

By misschristinec |

The harrowing drive to Pride Mountain is completely worth the memorable experience you'll have once you arrive.
The entire staff is extremely friendly and our guide/educator, Paul was superb! The details he shared about the philanthropic Pride family, the history of the property and the Napa/Sonoma property twist kept us interested throughout the tour. Paul's humor, warmth and knowledge was the bonus at a winery steeped in wine accolades!
The tour included a walk around the property, into the barrel room and chock full of tastings (Chardonnay, Viognier, Merlot, two Cabernet Sauvignon barrel tastings -plus an impromptu blending experience. We finished up with a Cab and Cab Reserve tastings too. We purchased two bottles of Merlot (IMHO best Merlot in the valley) and a bottle of the Cab Reserve (absolutely majestic)!
This is a tasting/tour you should definitely include in your Napa/Sonoma wine itinerary.

Best wineyard experience

By gerberDK |

In short: go there:-)
This is a beautifull place and the Best wines - merlot. The drive is beautifull and the Tour in the caves was really great. Very friendly staff and guide. Loved it!

Tasting Excellence!

By John H |

My grandson (27) and I took the estate progressive tasting tour (not our 1st time to do so). Jay was so informative and friendly, with fun little side bar stories to boot. Great experience again.

Good tasting experience, but we didn’t love the wines

By Matthew G |

Prior to a recent trip to Napa, we had received several glowing recommendations of Pride Mountain and its unique location, perched right on the border of Napa and Sonoma. Based on everything we heard, we were really looking forward to our visit, which was good overall, but did fall a little flat. Our guide, Jay, was absolutely wonderful and made sure we were well taken care of, but we didn’t love the wine.

Getting to Pride is a little tricky as compared to most wineries, since it’s located up the mountain from St. Helena off of winding Spring Mountain Road. It’s a little treacherous getting there, but we had just come from Amizetta earlier that morning, which is on the exact opposite side of the valley up even more difficult roads, so we didn’t think the drive to Pride was too bad. Just make sure to budget enough time to get up there and take it slow on the drive.

As we arrived at Pride, I thought the setting generally looked nice, with a good view of the Pride vineyards from the parking lot, and a sign with a line down the parking lot to indicate which side of the property is in Napa and which side of the property is in Sonoma, since the dividing line is literally right down the middle. This is all very interesting, but I didn’t otherwise think it was quite as stunning there as others have made it out to be. It’s certainly nice, but based on how it had been described to me, I sort of expected the property to be perched at one of the highest points in the mountains, with expansive views of the Napa and Sonoma valleys as a whole on either side of the property. Instead, you just have nice views of the estate vineyards, which happen to be in both Napa and Sonoma, along with some distant mountain views as well. It’s certainly nice, but I think some things I’ve read about it were a little overblown. We had also just come from Amizetta, which I think had some of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen from a Napa winery, so that may have clouded my view.

We went inside the main tasting building to check-in, which I was surprised looked more like a big gift shop than a normal tasting room for a Napa winery. It was a little more commercial and cheesier looking in there than I expected. Nevertheless, Jay greeted us and told us that he would be our host, and he got us started with a glass of white before leading us on a tour. Jay remained incredibly enthusiastic and nice throughout the experience. He had a great sense of humor and was just so helpful, always volunteering to take photos of us and really digging in about the wines with some great conversation.

I wasn’t actually aware in advance that our experience would include a tour. We did the $90 per person Summit Experience, which is described online as just being a tasting of some of the higher end library and reserve wines, but I didn’t mind seeing the extensive wine caves and winery facilities. It was all pretty standard, similar to what we’ve seen on several other winery tours, but it was also set up with wine to try at various points along the tour, which was good. I also enjoyed learning about the interesting storage and labeling requirements for their wines, which are unique since they straddle both Napa and Sonoma.

After making our way through the caves, we came to an outdoor seating area overlooking the vineyards, which was very nice. Cheese and charcuterie plates were waiting for us there, along with the more interesting reserve wines for our tasting. Between the various pours during the tour and the sit-down tasting, we did sample a good number of their wines. It was also very interesting to see how close fires had come last year in threatening the entire property. Fire damaged trees are literally just feet away from where we were doing our tasting, so it’s amazing that the property managed to make it through largely unscathed.

The tasting itself was totally fine, and Jay did a great job of leading us through it and making it lighthearted and fun. However, none of the wines stood out to us as being particularly great. The wines were certainly fine, but I thought they were all a little too tannic and kind of harsh, not as much of a pleasure to drink as I expected. The claret was probably our favorite, and we took a bottle of that home along with come cabernet sauvignon. However, we regretted those purchases afterwards, since Pride simply didn’t have wine we liked as much as the wine from other wineries on our trip, and the wines we bought at Pride weren’t exactly all that cheap.

Overall, our visit to Pride Mountain was perfectly pleasant and we had a great time with Jay. We had been wanting to come here, and we were glad we finally had a chance to see the interesting Napa/Sonoma hybrid that the winery is. The tour and tasting experiences were nice with good views, but the wine itself was a letdown, and that’s the main thing we care about when we do wine tasting in Napa.

Loved this place

By WHRVA |

The tour was fantastic. They welcomed my 2 year old who slept the whole time. Wines were good and I especially loved the picnic area. Was a great place to enjoy some wine and let my daughter run!

What an awesome vineyard tour and tasting

By Grant W |

What an awesome vineyard tour and tasting this was. We were slightly late and some others slightly early so they took us on a private tour of the facility including meeting the winemaker who has produced a 100 point wine, touring their caves where all the French oak barrels are stored and tasting from the barrel. Then they surprised us with the chef making fresh pizza in a wood oven overlooking the vineyard. Their wine has been served at the White House and was a great story behind the place and the family who run it. Highly recommended

Best wine tasting this trip

By Hitcher84 |

By appointment only, they give you a really personalized wine tour. It is off the beaten path for wine tasting, so give yourself enough time to get to your appointment on time. There is a great picnic area with views if you get there really early. Tasting is done in a wonderful wine cave - great cabs and merlots, viognier too. The vineyard is in both Napa and Sonoma county. The tasting fee is now $30, but waived with a minimum purchase. Wines around $55 and up, and are really nice for that price point. If you are tasting in the St. Helena/Calistoga area, this should be on your tour. Tasting takes about an hour.

Excellent wines, beautiful location

By Gabriel H |

We had visited this place several years ago and returned with great expectations. the location is fabulous, on top of the mountain, and essentially a 360 view of the surrounding valleys and mountains. We were warmly received on an absolutely gorgeous day and were given a tour of the facility before engaging in the wine tasting. We tasted a couple of wines in the cave, then completed the tasting seated by a delightful outdoor table, with a gentle breeze. We tasted a Chardonnay, a couple of Merlots, two cabernet Sauvignons and a Cabernet Franc. All were very enjoyable, well-rounded wines, well-balanced and certainly ready to drink. The staffer who guided us knew the place and its history, so he entertained us with the stories and anecdotes of the place. This is a place well worth visiting and the wines are an excellent choice to have and enjoy at home.

Absolutely Wonderful in all ways!

By Maps02337577161 |

This experience was phenomenal! Everything from the beauty of the vineyards and the caves, to the tastings, and our kind attendant...it was wonderful! Highly recommend!

Amazing views!!

By Rosa B |

The drive is beautiful and well worth it. One of the best wineries I visited in Napa Valley. Once you arrive, the views just take your breath away. Staff is friendly. I highly recommend it!

Fantastic Views and Wine

By 484kelly |

We loved our visit to Pride Mountain. We did the reserve experience. We had a nice tour of the cave and learned about their wine making process as well as the uniqueness of the land. The wine was great and we placed an order for some of the wine we cannot get back home. Our guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and she did a great job from start to finish.

Long trip up the mountain but worth it!

By Guwain |

One of the most spectacular views on can imagine. Very rich in history and detailed information tour. The wine cave experience is definitely worth it and the tastings are incredible!

Amazing

By Yvonne O |

This was an out of the way completely worthwhile visit. Paul was fantastic he gave us a detailed history of the vineyard that was not only informative but highly entertaining!!! If you get the chance this is a MUST SEE!!

Fantastic visit!

By Karsy68 |

I was so bummed out that I made our reservation too late to get into the Summit Experience, but our time with Paul for the regular tasting was pretty awesome! We went well over the 60 minutes mentioned on their website.

We started off with a taste of the Viognier and then glasses in hand, we headed outside to learn more about the winery and their history. After a bit of time outside, Paul led us into the caves and gave us barrel samples as well as finished wines along the way. He really made our experience fun. We finished up with more wine on their patio. This place is beautiful. It was the second prettiest we visited this trip, although the overall experience was better.

We ended up buying a case of wine from their diverse portfolio and may join the wine club down the road.

If you are reading this review and trying to decide if this place is worth it among the hundreds and hundreds of wineries in Napa Valley (and Sonoma County), go. It's worth it.

Amazing tour, wine and views

By alichart |

My husband and I had a great tour at Pride! This place up a big hill and may feel out of the way, but it is absolutely worth the visit. The tour was fun and accessible and we had a blast. The other thing worth noting is that while the wines are on the pricy side (and rightfully so) the tour is not expensive compared to a lot of other places of similar caliber.

Great tour and ask for Paul!

By Abby E |

Highly recommend a tour and tasting here. My boyfriend and I came to Pride Mountain for a tour/tasting after completing the Napa Valley Marathon. The wine tastes incredible, the vineyard itself was absolutely beautiful and our tour with Paul was awesome. He was funny, relatable and so knowledgeable. The whole experience was fun and educational and this was our favorite vineyard of the five ones we visited total this trip!

Stunning scenery

By DanP |

We had a really fun and informative tour and tasting with Andy Nies.
The views up on the mountain alone are worth the drive up, absolutely stunning; and the cabs and merlots are pretty great too!

Great tour

By 708kasperh |

Great tour of the cellars and stunning views over spring mountains. It also helps that the wines are excellent. Remember to book the tour beforehand.

Honeymoon at Pride Mountain

By Brandan P |

Pride Mountain Vineyard remains Jessica and my favorite winery of all time. There wine is amazing and their hospitality is 10 out of 10. It’s the best you get out here!

I want give a special shout out to host, Ashley for making our experience one of a kind during our honeymoon. It was romantic and informative, not to mention very relaxing. This place knows the true meaning of wining and dinning. The winery sits on the mountaintop, that divides between Sonoma and Napa. The view is fantastic. We would one thousand percent recommend this place and the people are just as good as their wine! Fantastic!

Hidden Gem in Napa…Must Visit Winery!

By TheBeks |

Visited Pride Mountain on a recommendation and it was one of the highlites of our trip to California! Our tour was hosted by Quique who was so so friendly, knowledgeable and very funny…felt like a family member! This is definitely a hidden gem that our group would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone visiting Napa. We purchased multiple bottles of red wine that we cannot wait to share with our friends! Thank you to Pride Mountain and Quique for such a memorable visit! You definitely set the bar extremely high!

Exceptional tour and wine!

By Sara E |

If you're wondering whether you should add Pride to your list of wineries to visit in Napa, the answer is absolutely, 120% yes. Paul was the best winery tasting and tour guide we've ever had in the USA, and we've been to a lot of wineries across the country. He catered the tour and information he provided to his audience (an engineer and I who both know a decent amount about our wine) and kept is laughing for the whole two hours. The wines themselves were exceptional (we walked away with three). The land is beautiful with places to picnic while overlooking the vineyards. If you have time to kill, go for a walk through the vineyards and take it all in. Pride has been a highlight of our time in Napa and we'll be telling friends and family about it for years to come!

The best vineyard to tour

By jonathan s |

Nikki our guide was awesome. The wines were spectacular. The views were to die for. Great cave experience. Highly recommended.

Exquisite Wine

By markthesharkOhio |

So this place is another winery with spectacular views. The wine has always been super. The merlot is one of our favorites. The tasting was a terrific experience. We went through the cellar and took a tour. Andy was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and fun to be with. I think he added so much to our experience. He even took photos of us. You can tell he loves his job. This is a place that you have to book in advance. They are popular so are busy but well worth it when you get it.

Can't Miss Views and Wine!

By Retired Spend It All Now |

Four of us made the trip up the mountain based on a client recommendation and another from the B & B we stayed at. Watch the signs and you will arrive at paradise for the views and the wine. We brought a lunch to have on their picnic table overlooking the valley prior to our appointed wine tasting and tour. The wine was poured throughout the informative tour. Probably best to come the day you enjoy some time in Calistoga.

Fabulous wine and terrific guide

By Martha F |

Becky is the best and the wine is outstanding as well. Worth the winding drive to the summit! Plan for easy time schedule and linger to enjoy the vista view. Well worth the trip.

Superb

By mei |

This is a different kind of winery experience- you first have to drive up the mountain and bath in the forest, then you arrive to a spectacular vineyard with cellars in the caves.. the tour and the tasting takes place in the caves- super cool! The wine is actually really good. Good tour and good wine! I couldn’t ask for more. My guide was “Andy Niels”. Pride family- he is worth every penny! He made the experience perfect!
Happy birthday Andy!
Buon compleanno!

Awesome tour!

By Pipersbs |

We came here on the recommendation. Of our Inn keepers, but also heard raving reviews from another couple who had taken the tour a day prior. It did not disappoint!! We got their a little early and enjoyed a picnic on the hillside while taking in the hills and vineyards. Our tour guide was Paul, very charismatic, friendly and informative. It's great seeing people who truly enjoy their jobs. The tour was education and included some great wines! Be warned, you will want to take some home. ☺

Exceptional wines and views

By Tiffanie P |

The drive to Pride is a long and winding road, but worth it when you get to the top. The property is beautiful and spreads across the Napa and Sonoma county lines. We had a great tasting and tour of the property and caves. Jay gave a great tour and was very informative and fun to talk to. We bought a case of the Chardonnay- it was outstanding. The reds were also very good. Would recommend this as a first stop of the day or to have a driver because the roads to get there are a little hard to drive. Cell service most of the way up and on property was also spotty.

Really cool wine cave and great wines.

By Kim L |

Andy was our wine guide and he was fabulous! The wine cave is really cool - actually cave into the hills! Really good wines and excellent experience.

Great wine tour. Our favorite by long shot.

By njc003 |

This tour is exactly that, a tour. Other wine tours are more of a tasting. Pride (and specifically Jay) walked us through their cellars, explained and showed the different grape fields, explained the entire valley and where to expect certain wines and had tastings throughout. Jay was a fantastic guide and top-notch educator. We really enjoyed this wine tour. By far our favorite. We've toured Round Pond, Motis and Pride in total.

Exceptional Experience at Pride Mountain Vineyards

By DakotaBrwn |

Our visit to Pride Mountain Vineyards was outstanding from start to finish! The property is stunning, with beautiful views in every direction, and the team was genuine and welcoming. Nicole, our guide, was fantastic—incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the tour through the caves and tasting experience truly memorable. An absolute highlight of our Napa trip!! Do not miss this experience!

Great wine with an interesting story

By DerelN |

Having grapes from both Napa and Sonoma at elevation produces great wine! The experience walking through the cave was a great experience, and the care taken to monitor the growth of the grapes is well noted in the glass. Recommend a visit, and to purchase a bottle or 12. ;)

One of the best tours and tastings

By Lottelli |

A really great vineyard.

We had a tour of the caves along with a tasting. It was really great.

After the caves we had a look over the vines and then went into the tasting room where we completed our tasting and a few small snacks.

Our tour guide was the best we had in our time in the region - he was a proper ‘wine guy’ and was just fantastic. I can’t remember his name, but he was brilliant. Answered all of our questions honestly and a lot of the questions others hadn’t been able to answer!

Really fabulous. One of the best for us!

The Pride of Napa and Sonoma

By Boodkins |

Highly recommend going to Pride. Atop a mountain located between Napa and Sonoma. Paul is a master tour guide. The vineyard is gorgeous and the wine pretty good.

The Best!

Paul was Amazing! He was very acknowledged ! Very generous on our tastings! Love him! The winery was very well suggested by all visitors at the time!

Beautiful grounds and tour + fantastic cabernet and merlot

By Matthew |

It's a bit off the beaten path and a little hard to get a tour reservation, but this may just be the best winery to visit in Wine Country -- both Napa AND Sonoma, because technically Pride Mountain is in both! (The property straddles the border between the counties -- they actually have separate buildings and production facilities on the Napa side and the Sonoma side)

The tasting and tour is an excellent experience (and reasonably priced), featuring small group guided tour of the beautiful grounds and caves, plus barrel tasting. They make a few different varietals, but are most known for their cabernet sauvignon (their 2012 reserve cab scored 100 points from Robert Parker!) and merlot (which is one of the best -- if not the very best -- merlot we have had.)

Vineyards Straight Out of a Dream!

By ericams27 |

Pride Mountain was fabulous! It is true that you need to be careful getting there. The actual tasting room address is 3000 Summit Trail in Santa Rosa. Even with that address in our GPS, we were still somehow directed way south. Check and double check as drive there to make sure you are on the right path. It was a beautiful drive and the grounds looked like they were straight out of a dream. Jay Hebert was our host and he was AWESOME! Very knowledgeable, accommodating and understanding of our late arrival due to the GPS mix up. The wine was fabulous, the caves were extensive and beautiful, (they actually use real candles in there which is fun), and it was well worth the tasting fee! You won't be disappointed!

One of our new favorites

By Carrie H |

We visited this winery upon the recommendation of a friend and it turned out to be our favorite this trip. The views are amazing, our sommelier Katrina was fun and knowledgeable, and the wine was outstanding. Our group had a private tasting in an incredibly beautiful room with a lovely cheese tray. We wished we could have stayed longer - an hour and a half flew by! Some of our favorite pictures from our trip were taken on this visit, but the scenery is secondary to their quality wines. We had a lovely time and will definitely return. Until then, we joined their wine club and look forward to enjoying their wines at home!

Must see in Napa

By Paul H |

Wife and I visit the tasting room 5 to 6 times per year. It's one we enjoy sharing with folks that come to visit us in Napa. These wines are amazing, but because they don't market widely, they fly a little under the radar. People find them mostly by word of mouth. Reservations for tastings are a must but easy to get by calling or on their web page.
This is a must visit.

Simply Amazing!

By Scott G |

We visited Pride last week and what an awesome way to start our winery weekend.

Andy met us at the door and was super nice and so qualified to provide us our tour. We started at the tasting bar and then moved outside towards the caves. On our way, there were crushed grapes outside so we stopped and were able to stir them with a tool.

The caves were amazing and the fact that part of the winery is in Sonoma and part in Napa was cool. we tasted wines directly out of barrels and the history we heard about was amazing.

Back in the tasting room, we tried a few more wines and ended up buys a few bottles to remember our visit by.

I am a wine guy but my 5 friends are not but everyone absolutely loved this Vineyard. Check it out!

Our favorite winery from our trip

By EBailey0824 |

This place is incredible. It takes a little while to get there, and the road is very narrow, but boy it is worth it! The most beautiful property and view, and the wines are fantastic. The tour was really great. Must see.

Pride Mountain is top notch!

Beautiful winery worth the trip up the mountain to visit. The wine, scenery and experience was top notch! This has become one of our favorites and we will be back again!

A Highly Entertaining Wine Tasting Experince

By EDKW13 |

This was our third visit to Pride and undoubtedly was the best. We were in the hands of host Paul, who entertained us immensely as we did barrel tastings in the caves. My wife commented later that she's never laughed so hard while tasting good wine! The Pride wine tasting experience is informative, informal and a great exposure to fine Napa wines. Reservations are needed. Highly recommended.

Most Beautiful Vineyard and beautiful Wine

By Lorene d |

The drive up into mountains was lovely and the vineyard and winery are so beautiful and peaceful and a perpetual cool breeze. Our tour began with a stunning glass of white wine and an introduction to the winery by a master storyteller Paul. The winery has heart and this is reflected in the care for community in their efforts to give back. It is our favorite winery. We purchased a case of beautiful wine for our daughters wedding toast, but probably won't be able to wait to sample some. The tour was very interesting and entertaining especially the cave. It is a happy place with happy people. The wine is sensational. Again, our favorite place. Highly recommend making the short trek up the mountain for something completely different and wonderful.

One of the best during our trip.

By Austin1826 |

This is well worth the visit. It's a bit of a drive up the mountain, and then of course down, but the scenery is great and the payoff is worth it. The wine tasting includes a tour and great commentary/history. Not the type that's pouring the wine faster than you can drink to get you to the register. We toured the caves, did a barrel tasting, and stopped for pictures overlooking the valley. There's a semi-secret picnic spot up there too if you bring some food. Put this on your must-visit list.

Wine tasting

By SKSaka |

This was an absolutely first class tasting with Rebecca
Had a picnic lunch on the mountain with beautiful views
Rebecca took time for the tasting and tour and knew her subject
They make a fabulous merlot!
Great visit after a real disappointment at Caymus

Amazing View!

By lisad1462017 |

Great tour with Travis and a beautiful view of the vineyard! Long and very winding 6 miles up to the vineyard which straddles both Napa and Sonoma counties. Good choice for tasting reds.

Perfection

By patti |

Dana made our visit more than just a tasting. It felt more like an experience than just a tasting. This is by far our far our favorite winery. Looking forward to our next visit. The wine was amazing!

Loved this tour!

By Stephanie D |

Paul was phenomenal! We loved the entertaining tour, we enjoyed the wines, all of the other employees were great and the view was just beautiful. Overall it was a great experience would definitely come back. It sounds like the pride family are sincere, genuine , lovely people. The curvy drive up the mountain was well worth it. It was cool that we had the private/small winery experience despite there being quite a few people there! Loved it!

Best wine in the Napa/Sonoma wine region

By grubtrippin |

We have been drinking Pride wines for many years. Always excellent... never disappointed. It's a beautiful location with wonderful views, the tasting tour through the caves is great. Go! You'll love it.

Great view and family story

By cmhtraveler2 |

Great place for a tour and tasting! Paul was a great tour guide and the remainder of the staff was great as well. Melbec and Cab Frac are wonderful if you like reds. Enjoy the views and come early with some picnic food to stay on the property and enjoy!

Great Vineyard High Up On Spring Mountain Road!

By yenneks |

Incredible scenic, beautiful vistas, valley and vines, span as far as you can see in any direction. This place has serious history, not just vines and wines! Please check it out. We personally favor their Cabernet Sauvignon wines but everyone has their own tastes. Go there! Try for yourself. Incredible Staff, so knowledgeable and friendly.

You're simply the best! Best views, best service and experience, and best wines!

By NJFabFour |

This was our favorite vineyard that we visited. We could not have asked for a better experience. Our host Kique immediately greeted us and poured us some wine and made us feel welcome and at ease. He was knowledgeable but with a very relaxed and friendly style. We learned a lot about the vineyard, the process of making and ageing the wine, and enjoyed all the wines we tasted. He took some great photos for us on their gorgeous grounds and explained all we needed to know about ordering. The views here are spectacular! Our visit was not rushed at all and we enjoyed every moment. We will definitely return!

A Bit Overrated

By jsh44320 |

My expectations were very high with this many excellent ratings, but we found the experience to be a bit average, especially taking into account the drive time.

It's a nice facility and our host was gracious. For the tasting fee, you do get a tour of the caves, 2 barrel tastings, and a few more tastings at the bar.

I think our disappointment was in the wines, and the overcast/foggy day that obscured any of the views others here have mentioned.

The most educational & interesting visit of Napa

By maodohsiao |

We visited Stags, Caymus, Cakebread, Duckhorn and Pride on our 3 day visit.

Of all the vineyards, Duckhorn was the prettiest and Pride was the most interesting one.

The sommelier who conducted the tour was super knowledgeable & he spent time talking about how to taste wine and what the different terms mean. We also got to mix the diff type of wines on the spot and see how the taste changes. Fascinating stuff!
