I loved the beach here. It was clean and the surf was absolutely perfect. It wasn't too crowded which helped as well. You cant afford to miss this

First time at Rehoboth, Saturday afternoon in mid-August. Temperature was 85 degrees, and we were easily able to find parking (well, we got lucky. It was 5 pm!). You can pay for parking using the ParkMobile app or use your card in the machine in the parking lot.

The beach and boardwalk were crowded, but we found a spot to put our beach chairs. You can rent chairs for $15 and an umbrella for more, up until 5 pm. The sand is fine and not too rocky or full of seaweed. As with most beaches in the Northeastern US, the water is not blue, the way it is closer to the equator. It’s a nice beach.

Nearby is the boardwalk with plenty of restaurants selling water, ice cream, french fries, pizza, etc. I never found the public restrooms but Grotto Pizza had a bathroom I was able to use.

After sunset, a wonderful Naval orchestra began to play to a public audience and they were absolutely marvelous. I could’ve listened to the horns play all night.

Bethany is a bit quieter. More family friendly. Ocean city is a bit seedier with lots going on. Rehoboth is somewhere in between. There are lifeguards, sand, and waves. It can get a bit crowded, but if you stroll up the beach there's more space.

By sueg807 |

The beach is clean and the boardwalk fun for all. Plenty of food, ice cream and candy. Bars and restaurants near by too. Rehoboth Beach and boardwalk is great for the entire family. You can rent umbrellas and chairs on the beach. The lifeguards are there until 5 pm.
There were dolphins in the ocean!!The ocean was awesome. So many great stores and shops on the boardwalk and nearby. Loved Rehoboth Beach. We stayed for 4 days. I think this was enough time to enjoy the beach and the beach town.

By Charles S |

We recently stayed in Rehoboth Beach and our hotel suite was just down the road from the beach, within easy walking distance to carry chairs, towels and picnic bags. The beach was spacious and not too crowded to walk and find a good space to sit and enjoy the sea.

I grew up here. It’s turned into an overcrowded beach resort. Parking is a complete nightmare if you wish to go to the beach. Be there by 8-8:30 or you may not find a parking spot.Permit parking signs are situated 20 feet back from an intersection where you would be hard pressed to see them with traffic in all directions . Worst of all is there is only one for a three block stretch. Easy way for a ticket. Town money maker. Problem is they have space at the beach to add more parking for vacationers but they choose not to! Can’t accommodate the crowds anymore, Seems like good old greed has taken over!!!!!!

By FamilyTraveler93 |

This was a beautiful beach, great waves, attentive lifeguard, clear water, no seaweed. However, the high tide rose to about 10-15 feet from the boardwalk! When we were there, they had a huge storm at sea, so this may not be normal. However, the high tide was at dinnertime, and it made a large shallow tidal pool that everyone was walking in - only about 2-3 inches high, but about 20 feet wide. The high water & waves were beyond a dune. It was actually great for toddlers and kids.

Be aware that in the town there are different prices for the parking meters depending on where you park in town. $3.00 an hour can add up quickly. Some areas of the town is permit parking only and others areas you will find the meters.

Rehoboth Beach is a small quant, clean beach town that is worth seeing. Funland on the boardwalk is great for small children for rides and games and walking the small boardwalk is fun.

The town has a lot of restaurants to select from varying in price. You will not be disappointed.

By bbloom560 |

We love Rehoboth Beach! Only gave a 4 stars because food on boardwalk is so expensive. For a family bring a picnic cooler with your own drinks and food.

By Joe L |

Go in the off season for free parking and no crowds. Beach and boardwalk are wonderful this time of year. Beach is spotless

By McLeangirl |

They did away with smoking on the boardwalk and the beach and the difference is amazing! I also like how well placed the lifeguards and the umbrella providers are. Overall, the beach was a pleasant experience for an East Coast beach.

By Nicole S |

This beach and boardwalk was cute. Small boardwalk. Very small beach with a lot of people. But still nice to walk around.

By Tracy C |

We walked to the beach for sunrise each morning-beach was clean, and beautiful. We enjoyed the peaceful feeling and saw dolphins one morning, always a treat!

By kennethh330 |

Nice crashing waves on a short clean beach that provided a relaxing fun time as the waves crashed in and made for a great time

By rayroy |

We where not here very long it was just a couple hour stop on our way down to Virginia Beach. But what we saw was nice. The beach looked clean. The boardwalk was nice and there were some good looking restaurants in the area we will definitely be coming back to the area when we can stay longer.

By dmr07 |

Wonderful beach trip - crowds are picking up, but still able to socially distance on the beach. Most of the Boardwalk shops and restaurants are open, but some have earlier closing times. Love the overall vibe of this beach town!

By R O |

Not how I remembered at all. Crowded is an understatement. The roads getting there are awful, the town is so crowded. It’s not even fun anymore. People are not friendly at all. We had mice in our beach house rental and left two days early. Overall, super disappointed in our trip to beautiful Rehoboth Beach.

By WaterBuffalo2 |

When staying with friends at Rehoboth Beach we like to gather on the Beach for a late afternoon relaxing break. The middle of the day is nice if you want extra sunshine and extra crowds. But to enjoy the sand, gentle surf, and less intense sun, I recommend planning your beach visit for the late afternoon. You can get in an hour or two and avoid the mid-day hassle.

By _rgruver310 |

This beach was very clean. We were there in mid July and it was crowded, but even so, their was plenty of room. Life guards were present. It is only about 100 yards from the motel which I particularly liked because I cannot walk to far. Bring your own beach chairs unless you stay at one of the motels along the beach because they may provide you with beach chairs which is unusual. We were their for the week and do plan to return next year.

By Sheila S |

The beach is small, compared to NJ shore and it does get crowded so best to claim your spot early. You can rent chairs and umbrellas; some hotels provide them to their guests. The people are friendly, the area is well-kept, with multiple places along the boardwalk to wash sand off before heading back to your room or car. Just a few days before July 4 the water warmed up enough to enjoy several dips and a long walk at water's edge. Warning: you must cross over gravel and tiny shells to get in deeper - which was daunting for me - but once in, water was very clean. Family-friendly games, fast-foods, candy and trinket shops line the boardwalk. Look on the avenue for other types of stores. Bring quarters for parking meters.

By KansasCityProfessorM |

We had several wonderful days, great weather, and no crowds. The water was gentle enough for our four year old to enjoy.

By breedy2200 |

Were there on some of the hottest days. Plenty of lifeguards, friendly folks at the rental stands. Lots to do on the boardwalk. a short walk to shops on Rehoboth Ave. Food is typically priced for a resort setting. A good time is to be had by all.

By RonB4610 |

Always a great time whether laying on the clean Sandy beach, swimming or walking. The beach is clean with lifeguards on duty. Bathrooms, boardwalk, restaurants and places to play are all close by.

By Deep W |

Beaches are dirty and sloping so much, kids can't swim safely.
Parking scam is a known issue for the city of Rehoboth. They want you and will trick you to park wrong so they can give you a ticket.
Than they will tell you to appeal it so they can change you another $10 for it.
City judge only judges in city favor of course.
Want to visit a city and support a bunch of corrupt scammers?
Not us!

By Linda D |

My granddaughter and my daughter love the beach me i got to have a pool at my hotel to go in.I do not like sand fleas or anything like that.

By michellekkelly75 |

My suggestion is to get there between 8 & 9 am. For 4 hours on the beach, it costs around $10, but that's a good amount of time for toes in sand before you have to feed the meter. The earlier you get there the closer you can park which makes your walk back to the car much shorter.

By hvonderh |

It’s the beach and it’s the ocean so can’t give it less than four stars, but the crowds are just crazy. If you’re accustomed to Florida, the Caribbean or West Coast beaches, be prepared for a vastly different experience. When you can’t toss a frisbee, let alone a football and you can’t walk a straight path, it’s just too busy.

By greatcats |

Very, very very crowded. The day we were there the water came halfway up the beach at high tide and swamped everyone; guess that isn't usual. There are lifeguards and rest room facilities.

By Luke P |

Don’t even bother coming here and spending money
Worst beach in the area won’t allow canapés or shade screens very strict pointless rules a hope more and more people realize what a rip off this place is and ho somewhere else

By meloniep82 |

Even though we were here during the time Storm Florence was pounding NC we were still able to enjoy a few days on the beach. Impressed on how well kept it was. Life Guards never let their (Guard down) their eyes were every where, beach was more crowded than we expected. First time to Rehoboth Beach, not the last time!

By Prawet J |

The Rehobeth Public Beach is a great place to be in Summer. The beach and the boradwalk are separated by the dune so you do not feel like you are on the beach when you are on the boardwalk and the same to the beach goers. The beach is a long stretch and always family friendly except the southern part of the beach can be a little adult oriented. June, July and August are the peak time if you love the beach scene. September and October are the good time for empty beach.

By John F |

Beach is clean with sand and some pebbles. Easy to walk. There are plenty of lifeguards for swimming season.

By oribie |

Great Sand, great location. Feels very safe. It's a very popular spot so go early if you want to get a decent space.

By Fishface222 |

Rehoboth beach is very family friendly and well guarded by the Rehoboth Beach Patrol dressed in red bathing suits and perched high on white wooden guard chairs. The beaches are wide and well-groomed with many equally spaced public access points. It is cleaned and groomed nightly. There are plenty of trash cans, public bathrooms, public faucets and showers to rinse off sand. The beach also has budding sand dunes and plenty of nearby restaurants and shops with the boardwalk. Dolphins often cruise up and down the beach, a few hundred yards off shore.

By Rachel Smith |

Nice people accepting of diversity. Families and individuals. No inebriated or harassing folk. Lifeguards.

By Kate F |

As a mom, I love that the beach and boardwalk are non-smoking. Everyone we met along the way was very nice and the beach is one of the cleanest I've ever seen!

By Naina-Damani |

It is ideal after shopping just to eat, drink and watch beautiful sunset and enjoy the moment peacefully.

By phna15 |

Found a spot at the end of the boardwalk, so not very crowded. People begin to leave around 3:30ish and it was beautiful. You can rent chairs and umbrellas that are set up for you. Our first time and we loved it!

By Katie C |

This is a great, expansive beach with tons of sand and shoreline. It is easy to spread out and enjoy yourself. Great views of the sunset too!

By Marsha L |

Rehoboth Beach is a summer paradise... surf, sand, a boardwalk and all the ffunnel cake,,ice cream and french fries you can eat. But the best time IMHO is to come in the fall. The kids are gone, the water is warmer, and there is plenty of room to walk and bicycle on the boardwalk. Additionally, many of the restaurants start their dinner specials for locals. Come check it out

By Gary K |

My family came here for labor day weekend. It rained for parts of each day but the beach was still very crowded. Parking on the street was very difficult so keep your car at the hotel and walk. Not as relaxing an atmosphere as we had hoped but still enjoyable. The boardwalk was crowded but a plus. Long lines just to get to the foot shower.

By Tayuh3 |

Nice, clean, and family friendly. Not at large and crowded at OC. Many options for hotels on the beach. The boardwalk isnt overwhelming but still enough for families to enjoy.

By Global53151247248 |

Rehoboth Beach is a great place to visit Summer & Winter, we walked about, went into some neat shops, made some purchases, had lunch out & yes we even walked the Boardwalk several times during our stay along with many other folks, I took pictures of the beach, the surf & the Polar Bear Plunge Sandcastle, amazing memories, looking forward to another getaway there.

By AnaPhylaxis2014 |

While I like Rehoboth, I must say that their parking situation is the pits. The hotel I stayed at gave me a parking pass, which was great, but in the 5 minutes it took for me to return the pass after I had checked out, I was given a ticket. I called the town and told I could fight it but if I lost I would have to pay court costs, so I just paid the ticket. This does not make me want to visit the town again. I think it is ill-advised to make parking in the town so onerous. I understand they have to do something because some people wouldn't move their cars otherwise, but the fact that there are no extenuating circumstances for a ticket is unfortunate. I think towns are short-sighted in going for the quick cash. The hotel owner told me that visits have been down the past few years. Perhaps the parking situation is a contributor to this?

By NancyLovesRehoboth |

My husband and I continue to visit Rehoboth Beach every summer. It is definitely our favorite beach. It is clean and not crowded. There is very little noise - just the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the sand. We take an umbrella and relax under it to protect ourselves from the sun. It is also a great place to watch people. If you get too hot, you can jump in the ocean and cool off! No dogs are allowed and no smoking is allowed. I really like that!

By turkjj25 |

This was our first time there. It’s a great beach but super crowded. Parking can be really annoying so the park n ride should be considered. Also, renting the big umbrellas is totally worth it.

By Wes G |

Very well maintained and guarded. Rehoboth knows how to take care of its most important attraction. Raked clean every morning. Trash cans emptied. Guards every block for a mile. Easy umbrella and chair rentals at reasonable rates.

By Alex K |

Nice place to spend a day at the ocean ,with family and friends . Ocean is bit cold, however it clean.

By Dr.Bigs |

This is our favorite day-trip beach from Lancaster, PA. Researched the parking and found a metered spot without a time limit near the public restrooms on the south end of the town. Plus, during our hot and sticky Mid-Atlantic summers, the beach tends to be about 10 degrees cooler!

By chattygur1 |

Clean, small beach with lifeguards. Chairs and umbrellas are available to rent. Can get crowded fast so get there early.

By Joe L |

We were able to get onto the beach after hours to enjoy the sun and breeze. Nicer with no one else around

By psu1999 |

A great gem of a beach. Have been to almost all of the New Jersey beaches and would put this at the top. First it it is free! There are entrances everywhere off of the boardwalk. They are short and flat. Plenty of life guards. They have chairs and umbrellas for rent. These guys work their butts off carrying everything. The sand is fine not the sticky type. It does get very hot. At every entrance ramp they have a feet wash off area (see pictures). People are out very early and some stay after the life guards leave. The ocean has little rocks/ gravel in it. You can bring boogie boards and small floats.

By L C |

The beach was busy but all were staying 6-12 feet apart from each other in family groups. The beach was very clean! It was great!

By travelaround_8 |

The beach is clean and the water is cold. Perfect for a hot summer’s day! Rental for umbrellas ($14 a day) and chairs ($7 a day).

By 47triplover |

My Mom and I spent just a few days at Rohoboth Beach. It was extremely hot and humid but ultra charming. We've been to many beaches but this beach is probably the most charming.

We adored this beach. There's plenty to do and see. On top of the endless shopping and restaurants, there's an amusement area called Funland. This venue had amusement rides and games. This is small and charming. It's an absolute delight to stroll along their boardwalk early morning and catch a glimpse of the beautiful glistening sea.

This mini trip was a treat.

By Holly B |

Really a nice tranquil place in the winter- I usually go in the summertime and early fall, but it was great to go hit the beach even when it was cold plus my dog was allowed on the beach which she loved. There were many places that were closed, which was unfortunate, but we still enjoyed ourselves.

By DfHRB |

Something for everyone at Rehoboth Beach. The Atlantic can be trick so be cautious when swimming on the shore breaking waves. Beach has lots of rules so read the posted signs at every beach ramp. Restrooms and water showers at most beach ramps with nice sturdy mats to keep your feet from burning when the temps are high. Don’t worry you can always cool off in the refreshing Atlantic Ocean. Food and drink easily available within short walking distance on boardwalk or Rehoboth Avenue. Rehoboth Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the 🇱🇷. 👍🏽⛱🌊🐳☀️

By frankd55 |

The Beach at Rehoboth is a great place to spend a summer day! Great for family outings with lots to see and do for all. Beach is expansive and the water is clean. Everyone enjoys the boardwalk and there are many shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Parking during the summer months can be challenging right in town but there is parking available adjacent to the downtown area. Great place to spend a summer day!

By Morella D |

It was nice and not crowded. Very close to restaurants and plenty of bathrooms in a walking distance

By Donna D |

The city of Rehoboth Beach does a wonderful job of combing and cleaning the beaches everyday. Trash barrels emptied and respectful security. Always a pleasure to visit.

By GH |

It’s a really nice beach with small boardwalk and areas to walk around. This beach tends to bring an affluent crowd. It is expensive to stay, play and eat. I hope it doesn’t price families away. We plan to scale back our visits here.

By Sharon Y |

Clean, quiet and FREE. Beautiful scenery, nicely maintained. A lot of close food, merchandise for every visitor.

By Wendy G |

The town beach in Rehoboth is well kept, clean and convenient. Food and fun are a few steps off the beach.

By Ginny W |

The Rehoboth Beach is beautiful. Always clean sand and no trash. Family atmosphere. Convenient parking but expensive meters. No dogs allowed in season. Great place to relax.

By mmpk43 |

I found walking along this beach to be very comfortable. I didn't have to worry about seaweed and trash. The view of the ocean was breathtaking!!!

By RYC88 |

There seemed to be plenty of wide open beach space. There were lots of public restrooms and fairly decent parking. Loads of restaurants and fun little shops, so it's easy to spend a lot of time wandering around.

By Linda M |

Clean beach and boardwalk. Each morning they sweep the sand off the boardwalk, collect the trash morning and night, and operate a machine which picks up the trash left by the visitors. Electric array of stores, friendly people.

By JenniferJ45150 |

This is a very clean beach with gorgeous white sand and no shells to cut your feet on. There are rentals along the beach and life guards were on duty when we were there. It starts to get crowded pretty early in the day.

By Sushisher |

Very clean beach. I read a statistic that Delaware’s beaches were in the top ten of cleanest beaches in the states. The water was just right!

By Carly D |

We were told we had to take down our small clamshell tent which we were using to protect our 5 month old baby from the sun.... apparently this is a new ordinance at Rehoboth Beach, you cannot have a beach tent there anymore! We asked why the law was put into place and the person who demanded we take it down had no idea why. Well this is unacceptable for us, we need a safe place for our baby to lay out of the wind and protected from frisbees and whatnot, we will gladly take our money elsewhere to one of the many beaches in the area that does not have pointless rules... your loss, Rehoboth beach!!

By DebbiefromMaryland |

Nice Beach. Plenty of life guards. Warm water. Plenty of food nearby on the board walk. Feet washing stations.

By Chris |

Beautiful clean beach but depending on the tide there’s a drop going in. Watch small children and I don’t recommend for elderly.

By Dana W |

Great beach, we really enjoyed seeing the horseshoe crabs! My son was excited about the abundance of shells

By Steve |

This is the Cleanest beach I have been on in NJ! People were Respectful. There was almost NO riff raff. We went to multiple restaurants and people were very nice and polite. The restrooms on the boardwalk were very clean!

By Robert W |

The public beach in Rehoboth was a great setting for my daughter's first visit to the ocean. Everyone on the beach was friendly, and the lifeguards were vigilant. My daughter had a wonderful time.

By Joe T |

This whole area here is waaaaaaayyy over crowded traffic and more traffic I came here Rv camping and to meet friends we actually drove to see the beach to no avail can’t see it unless you pay to park (no spots)and walk a long distance
I’m from Florida so the beach is no big deal but to my upstate NY friends it is they’re going tomorrow ,I’ll pass I hate crowds and stay in the campground ,
Funny thing they have a scooter rental place none were rented too much traffic
My 2 cents worth

By bestcyclegirl |

Always safe and clean but oh my gosh people stake their claim to the sun before it rises.Crowded fun

By Jay S |

PARKING SCAM ALERT!!!! The city should be ashamed of themselves. They have a sign in tiny letters that parking head in is enforced. If you back into a parking spot you will receive a $50 ticket. This makes zero sense. The side street I was on there was a delivery vehicle in the middle of the street and it was much easier for me to back in and of course easier to pull right out as I left. I’ve never in my life has to pull into a spot or I would receive a $50 fine. It is a way that the city can make more money. There were like 5-6 other cars with tickets on a little side street. Again, the city should be shamed scamming people !!! I hope I at least save somebody money be seeing this.

Rehoboth Beach Delaware is one of the most fascinating beaches and beach towns in the U.S. Having visited multiple times over the years, I am never disappointed. This is a place that creates lasting memories… a lifetime of memories. My Wife and I had our first visit together here for our honeymoon, and over the last quarter century have returned, and returned and returned! First off, Rehoboth offers a vast flat sandy beach that gives you anything from walking the beach, lounging under umbrellas, swimming, light surfing and boating – maybe some fishing thrown in. It has the best and longest of boardwalks south of Atlantic City presenting everyone with the expected junk and fun eats anywhere. Cotton candy, fish tacos, snow cones, popcorn and amusements. There are Italian restos galore, but you can’t go without getting seafood with the myriads of styles of crab, shrimp, fish and you name it. Whether you’re into Bob Evans, Friendly’s or Cracker Barrel, or more sophisticated and tasty bites at Victoria’s or down-to-earth at Rehoboth Diner the options and varieties are huge! This intimate village-like small-town has done an exceptional job of keeping modernity at bay in the sense of its unique style yet with up-to-date conveniences. With a population of barely 1200 residents, it still does not eschew its origins from when the town was founded in 1873 with its nostalgic homes, excellent water quality, village vibe all has contributed to 5-Star ratings. But the beach itself is the main draw for us. The Mid-Atlantic offers very little of homey beaches, old fashioned and traditional conveniences, creature comforts and elegance. Rehoboth Beach, to us, is in the Top Ten beach destinations in the country. Enjoy and relax should be this town’s motto!

By kjg340 |

This beach is beautiful and clean, with perfect waves and plenty of room for everyone. Very family friendly. Get there early! The parking is free until 10 a.m. and then it's $3/hour or something for up to three hours, payable in advance - honestly, it seems like it's a huge controversy for some, maybe because it is something new for the town, but I found it totally reasonable to pay for parking. There are beach umbrellas and chairs for rent and plenty of food and family entertainment along the boardwalk. Have fun, everyone!

By queensfunds |

December 27, 2018 and it was a beautiful beach day all we needed was our beach chairs, beach was clean and so was the water

By Angie P |

The beach was absolutely beautiful and clean. There are foot wash and rinse off stations just about every block making it great to wash off before returning to your car or hotel. There are smoking stations at the back of the beach near the boardwalk, doesnt make much sense to me but if your a smoker they are there! My only complaint is how crowded this beach is. Because the beach is smaller than other areas you have to get there early and set up if you want a spot close to the water. By 11am the sand is pretty full. There are a lot more rocks in the sand as well.

By Lydia D |

Rehoboth has a very nice beach if you are expecting g it to be like Wildwood it is not the beach is not as large. So it does get crowded. The boardwalk is nice but not that
Much on it which we liked there is a small area with rides that are much more reasonable than in NJ. There is a Main Street that goes to the boardwalk which has shops and restaurants. Very nice area.

By Stephen Starr |

Gone are the days of laid back Rehoboth... The new (should I say old?) City Council has been aggressively enacting City Ordinances- and the "feel" of the town just is no longer that same.

During my stay here:
I saw multiple people FINED for have baby tents on the beach. Yes- you read that correctly- mom didn't want her baby burned, but baby tents over 36" x 36" are illegal.

Kids chatised by Beach Patrol for making holes in the sand that were too big? Uh - are you kidding me? Not making this up- apparently Sand Castle moats are dangerous....

My neighbor was ticketed for putting trash out too early - and get this- then ticketed for not putting the trash back quick enough.

A kid- here on vacation- was stopped by police for riding a skateboard on the street.

What used to be a laid back town- has gotten really, reall uptight

By PA Traveler |

Have been to Rehoboth many times and thought we would return instead of make the drive to the Carolinas. Took one look at the public beach and quickly decided we would use the state park beaches. Downtown was dirty with trash on the sidewalks and the beach was just as bad. Streets didn’t look like they had been cleaned in weeks. Won’t be back

By Jeff P |

We have been coming to Rehoboth Beach for 20 years. It was great when our kids were young, and it’s still great now(they are in college). It wouldn’t be summer without a trip there. Beach is clean.

By Pat |

Beach was good a little dirty compared to VA Beach. The umbrella and chair rentals were a little pricey. You can buy one in a local shop and it pays for itself in one weekend.

By Archie |

There is an umbrella company that puts up umbrellas for you. We came at 9:30 am and it was absolutely packed. The water was cold. It was exactly clean water. Huge waves that wipe you out. Lifeguards on beach. Great boardwalk. We saw a pod of dolphins. Taps outside to clean u r feet. Restrooms outside!

By Sarah C |

Cleanest beaches around and even on the busier hot days, the beaches aren’t that crowded. Go, sit, enjoy watching the surfers and little kids having fun!

By Michele F |

Nice beach! This coming from a jersey girl says A Lot! It was clean and life guards were very professional.

By csserious2 |

We visited the beach in one afternoon in late autumn and fell for it. It is quite long and there is plenty of things to do there. The boardwalk is lined with interesting shops and restaurants like British fish and chips, exotic tea leaves, halal kabob, lobster tails, etc. Reheboth Beach has definitely a character that would set it apart from nearby Ocean City. Parking is a hassle, be prepared to make several rounds before you can grab one. Other than Reheboth Avenue, there are lot of side streets that offer parking. All of that is free once past summer and early Fall. Approach from Washington beltway is not direct or easy, requires driving through narrow country roads and taking many turns. All in all, you'll enjoy Reheboth Beach once you get past getting there and parking issues.

By dkahoe678 |

I would love to give this beach a 5 but the lack of parking along with the fact it’s illegal to change your clothes in the bathroom leaves me rating it a 4. Due to the changing requirements we have witnessed on quite a few occasions people changing right on the beach. Doesn’t make it very family friendly

By Ryan |

Beach was clean groomed smooth. I would say there was average amount of people there but nothing crazy. You could be alone or in small group if you wanted. Waves could get to be a bit much at times so suggest that your a good swimmer. If traveling with kids just keep an eye on them at all times. People were very friendly . Was a smoke and vape free beach with designated areas for people that did.

By Molly |

It’s 11AM and these massive trucks/equipment keeps plowing through. Making people move their chairs/umbrellas. There were no signs, no ropes, nothing!

By Mark G |

The Rehoboth Visitors Center is a quaint little building located on the edge of a park just past the circle and canal on Rehoboth Ave. Inside they are loaded with maps, brochures, and information on everything Rehoboth and the woman at the desk was excellent answering all questions and giving incite on the town. The only negative is there is little parking and some of the spots seemed to be taken by people visiting the park.

By pmpkn219 |

Plenty of big ocean waves, water was temperate but it's been hot lately, I figure it's probably cool more often since this is not a Bay, but the Atlantic directly. Umbrellas and chairs for rent (I think $14/7, but add tip for the workers!) Plenty of lifeguards, good digging sand. Waves were too much for our littlest travelers, but enjoyable for adults.

By Paul B |

We stopped here on our way to Ocean City Beach, but should have stayed here for a couple more days! More laid back and friendlier atmosphere.

By DLP |

It is the beach and you can’t beat the beach! I would not visit here during the season because I would imagine it is overly crowded, especially with the boardwalk steps always and parking is probably horrendous, but on this off season day in April, it was the perfect place to be. The shoreline is long and the sand is soft and clean. It nice for a long stroll with your feet in the water or sit and listen to the beautiful sounds of the ocean. It just a beautiful place to spend some time.

By Angela B |

We always enjoy a day the beach, but this beach ranks a little low on the list. The water is cold and rough in places. The sand is soft though and there is a cool toy shop that sells water too. It was crowded until the day but clean. There are plenty of beaches in the area though so we are off to try another!

By Gina103 |

What was once a great place to vacation has become entirely too crwded. If you are into being elbow to elbow with people either on the streets or on the beach you will be hapoy. I don't care for that many people when I am at the beach.

By Jay S |

We had a rough windy day. The lifeguards were top notch!! Kudos to the two young men who responsibly did their job well! Knowing how bad the waves were the lifeguards kept keen watch and helped save a couple of young girls. The sand was soft and the beach was short so you didn’t have much to walk on the sand. It was packed but wonderful!

I've been going here my whole life. Probably one of my favorite beaches. I would recommend to anyone in the area can get pretty busy during beach season but totally worth it!!

By CTB |

Gross pit bulls are allowed on the boardwalk and the public beach. Watch out for dog poop on walkways meant for human beings to walk upon. We pay taxes but then have to beware of bad owners of mutant pit bulls in our public spaces. Get the gross dogs off our beaches and our boardwalk. People don't clean up after their pets or their mutants. It's a public safety issue. A mutant snapped and lunged at its owners leg right in front of us. Disgusting mutant with a bad owner, of course. Ban them.

By Tari L |

The beach was larger than I had remembered. It was easy to socail distance from others. No problem finding parking nearby.

By Lisa |

Was disappointed to see all the litter on and around the public beach. Trash cans were overflowing and had trash stacked up next to them. -The evenings on the boardwalk exposed an uptick in police presence and inappropriate behavior. Post-Covid certainly different in this area of RB.

By Michelle S |

It was a crowded beach day but the weather was gorgeous so it to be expected. The beach was clean but we were surprised to find out that canopies are not permitted. It was also a bit disruptive that you're not permitted to change clothes in any of the public restrooms. What happens if you just want to visit for the day?? Southern beaches are quieter and more permissable for families with younger children. However if you are sick of the OCMD vibes, this will do

By SSJ |

I’ve been to many beaches in my life but this one was by far the most crowded. No room to even walk without dodging people. Also, watch out for the jellyfish!

By lisa B |

This beach was nice clean and pet friendly after 9-30, going off peek was great, parking easy, beach was not crowded, it had alot of guess but not too much, it was still hot, we attended,9-24-26-19. Everyone was friendly. The police were very cordial. They informed us the dogs are allowed on the beach, however only after 9-30. We had our 17lb. Yorkie-shuz mix, with us he stole the show and loved walking on the boardwalk.

By christynichole33 |

Came to Delaware on a business trip and had to go to the beach. Since it wasn’t tourist season there was a lot of locals walking their dogs and taking leisurely walks. I’m sure in the summertime it is very busy. A lot of store fronts and restaurants to choose from. Sunset was beautiful.

By LBCdovs |

This was my first time in RB, and I'm pretty upset that it took this long to get here.

This entire beach area just has so much going for it. The shops, the restaurants, the boardwalk, the ease of access onto the beach, the large amount of parking, the walkability and the people.

As far as the beach is concerned, the sand closest to the water is a little steep and goes right into the water and may pose an issue for toddlers, but is fine for anyone, say over 7 with some decent swimming abilities. The waves can be a little daunting for youngsters. From the water to the boardwalk there is a lot of space and excellent areas to set up your towels and whatnot. (Tip: check RB website for any rules concerning bringing items to the beach. EX: no tents measuring more than 36" x 36" x 36").

The town of RB is very quaint. They have a ton of little shops and restaurants / bars. Although there are definitely some chain restaurants here, there's a lot of mom & pop spots.

Parking is ridiculously easy, or at least it was for us. The two days that we drove in, it was about 10 am and there was still beach block parking. By 12, there was still parking on 1st St. That would absolutely never happen at the Jersey Shore. However, make sure you bring plenty of quarters. If you forgot, there's a couple change machines on Rehoboth Ave. Once again, check the RB website and you'll find some good info on parking.

There are several handicapped accessible spots to the beach. The access points are lined with a plastic walkway over the sand which brings you to huts with sand wheelchairs. Extremely convenient for those with mobility issues. Also, for those who don't want to lug chairs and umbrellas around, there are rental booths about the beach where you can rent them.

Very nice spot and I highly recommend it. We enjoyed it so much that next summer we are renting out a home for a week.

By Corinne R |

Excellent welcome: fresh homemade cookie then breakfast in the morning served near the swimming pool, very fresh and everything homemade: muffins, omelettes, waffles to make yourself, ... in short very good
The room is clean and correct (a little dated but we feel good in this hotel
Have the car to get around.

By NEPA |

We were told that they spend approx. $80 million dredging the beach. Digging out the sand & piling it onto the beach. This created a steep slope to the water & an UNDER TOW/RIP TIDE that knocked over the strongest of men!! I witnessed so many people with skin scrapes, swim shorts being pulled down by the water! The lifeguards were a joke-only concerned for swimmers going past the "red flags" meanwhile it is so crowded & so many "boogie boards" that people are constantly getting hit with them & getting hurt. Several fights almost broke out because of this. MAYBE SOME LIFEGUARD/SECURITY COULD WALK ALONG THE BEACH to keep the people safe & keep the peace.

By David L |

Rehoboth Beach is probably the most well known beach in DE. It's got waves, sand, boardwalk, restaurants, an amusement park, and things to do for just about everyone. If you enter the beach from Rehoboth Ave., you'll have most of those things very close to you.

While some people have said it's not very crowded, it can get very, very crowded. Away from the Rehoboth Ave. entrance, you'll find a little relief from the crowd.

There is street parking on Rehoboth Ave. Be careful of 30 minute spots, but there are plenty of spots along the two way divided street. It's $2 per hour for up to 12 hours. Save the 50 cent surcharge for credit cards by using coins. There is a change machine near the public restroom. There is also a public parking lot next to the Rehoboth Convention Center about 5 blocks from the beach.

my husband and I spent 3 days here from 9/13-9/15.....it was our first time here and we totally loved it....the beach was clean and sooo relaxing..we went there for our 10th wedding anniversary and liked it so much, we plan on returning every year around the same time...theres alot to do..has alot of 5 star restaurants within walking distance from the boardwalk..we recommend eating at a place called "Salt Air'.....i had their scallops and my husband had their crab cakes, both of us agreed, best we've ever eaten anywhere..if you decide to dine their, make sure you book a reservation ahead of time, they are extremely hard to get into......we were just fortunate to get in !!!
people here are extremely welcoming....if your looking for a place to go , i highly reccommend it.....great beach and the life guards stay on duty after the Labor Day weekend is over...

By Rosemary K |

I went to Rehoboth for 2 days and paid for parking the entire time through the ParkMobile app. Unfortunately I had entered my license plate number incorrectly by one digit. I received 2 tickets for both days. When I went to the parking authority before leaving town, someone there said I had the wrong license plate number. I showed them my parking receipts to show that I had actually paid for parking. They waived one day and told me to appeal the other or pay for it. I appealed, but I was denied and they also raised the fee. Even with proof that I had paid almost $50 in parking, they didn't care. Yes, it is a revenue stream for Rehoboth. But let's be fair to people who are actually paying.

By Purpleporch |

Read the rules on the sign before entering the beach and obey. It would be nice if people took a moment and picked up any trash items. I picked up a plastic zip lock bag, 1 plastic toy and a plastic strap. Let's all help keep the trash out of the ocean, there are large trash cans at the exit. They are very good about emptying the cans for the next day.

By RsYaks |

Paid for parking but still got a parking ticket. Had to fight the ticket with many others who were also ticketed illegally. Check your ticket closely.

By R. Scott |

Parking system is a scam, not clearly identified or intuitive. I paid $11.00 for unlimited parking for the day and got whacked with a $30 fine. I appealed and was charged an extra $10 for that when it was denied. I agreed to pay the $30 but wanted the $11.00 deducted from the fine. No way, they charged $40 instead. My wife and I and anyone else I can tell will never visit Rehoboth Beach again as long as we live. Their parking system is designed to pick the pockets of innocent visitors and not tourism friendly. I can tell when the parking violation department can afford to have its own separate, very nice building they make too much on parking violations.

By Prawet J |

If you are not familiar with Rehoboth area or need new information (parking, hotel, places to eat, places to go, or special events all year round), this is a place to start. It is located before the first circle (with the lighthouse) and is housed in the old Rehoboth Rail Road station. There are plenty of parking (for a visit) and plenty of bochures of information in the area. Stop by to say hello to the staff, go to the bathroom or read and view some history about Rehoboth.

By Greg S |

I always stop early in the season to get up to date on the businesses that have come and gone in the area. THhe C of C staff is always ready to guide you to where and what you want. Stop in and say Hi.

By marypic1984 |

Great beach , great waves , watch out for the undertow. Wish they had bathrooms with showers , they will ticket you for changing in the bathroom and for going over your parking meter even 15 minutes . Parking is 2-3 hours max and then you have to go back and pay which is a pain but we never stayed longer than 3 hours
The boardwalk is great filled with shops and amazing food !

By talialbana |

I wouldn’t mind the parking tickets IF the beach / water was clean to enjoy ! Now, I’m not talking about the quality of water ( maybe they do their tests and maybe it’s ok to get in ), but the visual is very muddy / dirty looking !
And than the crowds - I’m like “ are they victims like me 😂😂”!!! Where are all those ppl going ?!

NJ shores are much much better ( better water , quieter) ! I wouldn’t return here for sure !!!

Sorry DE !!!

By Plucas1234 |

We like this beach, large, well maintained, we like to go a little south of N Boardwalk, at Newcastle St or AVE. Umbrellas to rent chairs if needed and not so crowded at the end of Summer. Had a great time there Sept 6-9.

By dave c |

Extremely clean. Kids and adult alike had a great time. The only drawback is area to actually swim is limited by the breakers in the water. The lifeguards (doing a great job) are very strict about keeping you away from them with about a 30 foot bubble on either side. The beach is smoke free which is very nice.

By runinCO |

I visited the beach a few times during my visit to just take pictures and also to run. It was definitely windy and a bit stormy in the evenings. It was pretty early in the day and a good beach for running.

By Gina A |

This beach is great. Easy access on and off. It can get crowded like every other beach. Great showers available for your use too! There’s also a bathroom near the lifeguard hut. Umbrella and chair rental are available and worth the money to not have to lug your own.

By Emelen1 |

Beach chair and umbrella rentals. Great boardwalk with every kind of food available. Fun place. Can get very crowded but always room for more. Parking is a problem. Go early.

By plorina59 |

Drive or bike to the state park beach. It’s not far and worth the $5 for the lack of crowds. There are porta pottys and a rinsing station but you’ll need to bring your food and drinks.

By cthemome |

This is a great place for a weekend getaway & a week with the family. The beaches are clean the boardwalk is fun & love the shopping.

By davidcollura |

ok beach nothing special. dolphins every day was nice. wanted people to wear masks on beach most did not

By Moose |

Overcrowded, overpriced, parking (revenue grab) is a night mare and to me the beach was a disappointment in comparison to others I’ve been to. It was not worth the hassle for me.

By Michael C |

Right next to most hotels in Rehoboth Beach, walking distance to tons of restraurants and to the amusement arcade. Also right next to many boardwalk stores for souvenirs, goggles, etc. Clean and safe public restrooms every couple of hundred feet.
Parking can be a challenge during the peak summer season.

By DayTrip529043 |

It would be nice if Rehoboth Beach Delaware had a dinner cruise in one of their bays. It would be excellent for business. I wish the city of Rehoboth Beach would consider this idea

By Vincenzo's mom |

Lovely beach, you can walk for miles, and the lifeguards are attentive and good-natured. The sand is clean, and the beachgoers are good about picking up and keeping track of their belongings.

By dnsprint |

The beach has a steep incline down to the water. You can't ride in the waves here. Bogie boards are good for riding waves in. It was very rough one day and you could only go out knee high. On calm days, you can go out farther. Where the waves are breaking there are rocks and shells that hurt your feet so you may want to wear water shoes. Beach is clean and you can rent chairs snd umbrellas. Go early as beach gets very crowded especially on weekends.

By DoubleG34 |

Peaceful and clean beach. Easily walkable and not overly crowded for spring break. Water is pretty cold in April though!

By jpwarring |

The beach is Rehoboth has a lot going for it It s usually very clean and in season there are alot of vendors for beach wares and gear Bathrooms are scattered but easily accessible The beach could use a few more strategic bathroom locations Hotels and rooms are widely available

By Sal S |

We have been coming to the Rehoboth Beach / Lewes area for the past 16 years and the visit is never complete without spending a few days on the Rehoboth Beach Public Beach. It is always clean and in excellent shape. Very well maintained.

By manos6232 |

Good clean beach with lifeguards and right off the boardwalk, convenient for parking and food and Thrasher's fries.

By Tiffany |

A quieter, less crowded beach comparatively to OCMD, the beach is close to the boardwalk with plenty of beach access points. The sand is a coarse type sand with rocks but little shells (sorry shell goers) the beach does not have a long water out, the water goes from shallow to deep pretty quickly, but the beach itself is clean.

By parrots2 |

Nice amount of sand plenty of room to spread out even though it was crowded. Umbrellas available for rent, very inexpensive.

By ValueTraveler19454 |

We have a season pass to park at Deauville Beach. Lots of parking there, we have never had a problem getting a space - it is a big lot. The beach there is much quieter and even on season there is plenty of room to spread out and room in the ocean to boogie board without colliding with other people. We have walked down the beach to go up on the boardwalk and were shocked at how packed it was down in that area - I would not recommend Rehoboth if that is where you have to go on the beach unless you like sitting right on top of your neighbor. Beach was clean and very enjoyable. I didn't give it 5 stars because the walk from the parking lot to the beach is rough - it is uphill and the sand is so deep it is hard to navigate. With all the money they charge for parking I feel like they could use some of it to make it easier for people to get on the beach.

By PerfectAlibi |

Expect crowds at almost any part of the beach. Highly recommend taking DART bus. So easy. Download the app prior.
The boardwalk is very nice. Showers and restrooms ok. The lifeguards did a great job of keeping everyone safe. Plan for cold water and large crowds. Nice beach overall. Rentals were very easy and good quality.

My family has visited several East coast beach destinations over the past 8 years for week long vacations. We are only 450 miles from Rehoboth, and based on universally outstanding reviews from others we decided to check it out from 8/4-11 2018. Our other beach vacations have taken us to Cape Cod, the Jersey Shore, and the Outer Banks. Sad to say Rehoboth ranks dead last by a considerable margin. First, the positives: the sand is fine and beautiful, and there is a fairly wide array of dining options. Now, the rest of it: Rehoboth does not appear to have been designed to accommodate more than 10% of the people that descend upon it during a hot week of early August. The traffic going in: murder (we were prepared for that). Was more surprised that this sense of total and utter congestion was sustained throughout the entire week. The Coastal Highway was constantly choked with traffic. Green arrow lights that were required to cross the road took several minutes to change (I'm not exaggerating. Several minutes.). It was worse when visiting the beach. The entire expanse of the beach was smothered in beach umbrellas. When entering the water, one had to pick through the traffic of other bathers. This characterized the entire experience (again, in comparison to other places we've been)--MOBBED. Aggravating the situation was the fact that the first day we visited the beach we were perplexed to find the water BROWN. Now, in later days the water color alternated between brown and a lighter, typical mid-atlantic green. However, the water was always silty and opaque. I do not have an axe to grind with the state of Delaware. You may enjoy the energy of huge crowds both in traffic and at the beach, and you may also find the brown water agreeable. For folks seeking a more relaxing beach vacation, with quieter and more beautiful ocean visits and less big city gridlock, we will opt to head elsewhere for future trips.

By Adam M |

No one was here. The shelling was great. We found quite a bit. People that we did meet were nice. What more can you ask for ? Seriously.

By Darlin |

This is a gorgeous beach with a fabulous boardwalk.
Due to the pandemic, masks are required when exiting the beach. You do not have to wear them on the beach but they are recommended.
The beach is open from 6am-10pm. We went late on the evening and early in the mornings to avoid the crowds. It was perfect-with the exception of a few families we practically had the place to ourself.
Very clean and beautiful-we enjoyed it.
Our hotel was on the boardwalk and throughout the day we could see from our room how crowded it can get. There is a place to rent umbrellas and we see that to was very popular since there is a restriction on having tents and other types of coverings there.
Overall an amazing place.
You will enjoy it!

By Lori095 |

We've been vacationing in Rehoboth for 16 years. We love it. The beach is clean, lifeguards are good. It's an overall great beach to relax on.

By BHUANG69 |

Came here with friends in late september, we were lucky since the weather was gorgeous when we got here. We spent a good afternoon relaxing right here. The wind was nice and there was almost no one around. We almost had the whole beach to ourselves.

By Tita A |

This beach felt very welcoming. Lots of shops with food and clothes. The sand was soft and clean. My family and I went on a road trip and had a great time. Would recommend to go

By LAMFER |

We visited during off season so I can't really attest to how busy it can get but I must say for end of September, there were a good bit of people in the water and lots more on the beach. Beach was clean.

By CoastGuardSteve |

I grew up in Delaware and Rehoboth was always our go to stop. It was crowded when I left Delaware in the 90s. I came back for the first time since then and there are even more people now. Its a great beach but parking is an issue. If you're in the area, its worth a day trip.

By SpyRay |

THIS CITY IS NOTHING BUT A MONEY MAKING LEECH!!!

Unknowing tourists park on poorly labeled streets only to be ticketed. The old biddies that work at the “parking department” are a joke. They don’t help you at all! This was my first visit to “Robber Beach” and I can assure you that it will be my last!! Great way to encourage tourism!! Keep up the good work by ticketing tourists!

By Benshi R |

It is a clean, small beach, many shopping stops and relax place to spend a day.
Not easy to find parking.

By Greg E |

Always nice and calm waters. Very clean sand, you can walk barefoot and won't cut your feet. They even bring drinks out on the Beach in season Fun fun!

By Cody B |

The beach at rehoboth is pretty well maintained and fun to go down too and relax for the day. The lifeguards do a very nice job of keeping everyone safe as well. Only con I have is the beach is not SUPER wide so it can get crowded during the busy months but it's not a super big concern for me!

By John E |

We parked along the Rehoboth Ave. "circular" drive or loop and walked down to the beach. It was one of the most average and least attractive beaches I have seen in quite a while. To start with, the natural beauty was lacking in comparison with most other beaches. There was simply nothing interesting about it. And nor were there any interesting "attractions" or activities to make up for that. Looked really boring. Every beach I've seen in Hawaii, Mexico, California, Florida and Costa Rica have all looked better and more interesting. Having seen it, cannot understand why people would wait in traffic to go here.

By Anonymous |

It’s not like it use to be knowing it as a child back in the 1990s early 2000s. You can’t have a tent and/or shade while on the beach (only infant and baby tents are allowed). They want you to spend 16 dollars for an umbrella rental. The beach cop (I mean the beach CADET) came over to my husband and I after we placed our small tent up made us take it down due to the ordinance. Then the same beach cadet told a SMALL CHILD that they aren’t allowed to build and or dig holes in the sand!?!?! SO NO CHILD IS NOT ALLOWED TO BUILD SAND CASTLES HERE!!? Not to mention no sports and or running on the beach (which there was football being thrown on the beach) but the beach cadet didn’t do nothing to them even though I said it loudly enough for him to hear me). The same beach cadet stalked my husband and I the whole time we were there; made us feel very uncomfortable! NEVER AGAIN WILL WE STEP ON THAT BEACH AGAIN (NOR ANY OF OUR FRIENDS AND/OR FAMILIES) once they hear about our experience. Many of the don’t go there anyway because how blah and the dumb rules they have!!! SHOULDN’T EVEN BE A BEACH ANYMORE BUT A STRICT PLACE TO PAY UR MONEY AND WASTE OF YOU TIME NOT TO MENTION YOU MAY BE STALKED BY THE BEACH CADETS THERE TOO!

By Laurie P |

We visited here during the week after Labor Day. We went in the evening about 6PM, then during the day another day. Although we walked down to the water we did not spend the day on the beach. It was not busy at all. The boardwalk was clean, and we enjoyed our visit!

By Bob B |

Great beach area to visit, but I am a little biased as I actually moved here after visiting this beach town. It is amazing and the local people are wonderful and friendly.

By Jacque_B922 |

The beach was crowded, but clean and the waves were great. This is a good place for families to visit and enjoy together. There were people of all ages ranging from infants to some elderly people.

By captblye69 |

clean family oriented not over crowded beach worth the trip, boardwalk facilities aplenty, food is pricey

By mmancusi9114 |

The beach seemed like a very family friendly beach with a boardwalk and a Main Street that has just about anything you would need for a great beach vacation. The water seemed a little dirty , but that could have been because of the rainy weather we had all weekend. Still han fun and would return .

By masonsgalpal |

We loved our time at Rehoboth beach! Umbrella rentals available for $10 which helps on super hot days. Lifeguards were on point. Beach was crowded but there was plenty of space in between families (having a couple umbrellas also helps with keeping people out of your space).

By Kimberly4aday |

Even in the cold, the beach at Rehoboth is breathtaking. It is quiet and kept exceptionally clean. I was amazed at the number of and fine quality of the seashells. It is one of the finest beaches on the east coast.

By Mark F |

Well patrolled during the day. Great waves while we were there. Very hot while we were there. Water temp great.

By S.D |

Parking is a pain for this area. I would rather drive to Delaware Seashore State Park and enjoy the beach there.

By keljay68 |

Really nice little seaside town. Very classic “beach vibe” with arcades, ice cream shops, gift shops etc. a fun touristy beach day!

By Michael D |

Clean, a bit crowded, well staffed with life guards and umbrellas/ beach chair rentals. We came off season so not a very good representation but I would recommend it to anyone.

By arbknyc |

For the time were were in Rehoboth Beach, the surf was active, waves breaking close to shore, perfect for boogie board and body "rides". The beach is large and accommodating, with the town renting chairs and umbrellas wherever you entered. Easy. Convenient. The umbrella set up for you.

By susmug |

The Rehoboth Beach is open to the public free of charge. It is a roomy beach and although it can get crowded, you never feel like you are being violated because the people are well mannered. There are really nice, large umbrellas that you can rent, and a nice man will set it up for you for a tip.

By CharlieV2011 |

Had a great experience swimming in the ocean and laying around in the sand relaxing! The beach is clean and is a great place for family swimming and making memories! The beach is surrounded by quaint shops, restaurants, games, and desserts! All around, a great American vacation!

By erin w |

Come here every year with the family and always enjoy our time. Great beach where you can almost always spot schools of dolphins right off the shore. Gets a little crowded at the peak of the summer but not so bad that you can’t enjoy yourself. Good restaurants and bars right on the boardwalk that offer a great escape if you catch a sudden downpour.

By Stephen D |

The beach is short but with the boardwalk and choice of restaurants this is the best beach around. Family friendly and the waves are not too much.

By John N |

I payed for a parking pass. I parked in a legal spot. They said my wheels were touching the edge of the street. I had to pay a fine of $77.50.
If you appeal it and lose you have to pay $50 on top of your fine and of course you'll lose Rehobeth is corrupt!!!!! I will not go back there again! My siblings and my children and their cousins totaled 33 people who will not be going back! Looks like I'm going back to Wildwood. Wildwood's not more expensive if you consider how Rehobeth treats the patrons coming to their town to spend money

By PaleoGypsy |

The beach is clean and well-maintained. Public restrooms are located near the gazebo. Lots of boutique stores and eateries abound. The architecture is quaint. A lot of the buildings look new due to the upgrades. Overall, this is a nice area for all ages.

By lizfar76 |

First time here in Rehoboth, & I was so disappointed in the beach. When planning our mini vacation, Rehoboth came up numerous times, so we decided to book. The town & boardwalk itself was very nice, even though it was crowded. Lots of shops & restaurants spread out. The beach though. It was not that wide, & every inch was taken up by people. It was a sea of umbrellas, towels, chairs, etc. I’m from Long Island & very used to a crowded beach, but this was insane. No room to spread out, or for my child to play. I even got to beach early in the morning to bring our stuff, & a family managed to squeeze their stuff directly infront of us. We ended up going back to the hotel & swam in the pool. I’m sure during the non busy times this beach is lovely, but we will stick with going north into RI or Maine. Water is cooler, but you can enjoy the beach.

By MARILYN M |

We went in September and it was so peaceful walking the board walk and on the beach. Listening to the waves coming in.

By Susan K |

Fun in the Sun! Life Guards all along the beach. Able to rent umbrellas. Had to buy the Boogie boards tho and then couldn't take on the plane (too big to pack) so left them behind.

By JeffBreedlove |

We enjoyed our time at the beach. We took a nice walk and just enjoyed watching the ocean.

I am sure it’s a different vibe during peak summer season or during a special festival - but in a non busy time…

Go enjoy

By Lauren B |

It was crowded but the area is truly amazing. Never felt more comfortable as we did in rehoboth! Everyone was so friendly and we can’t wait to go back!

By tmh_longisland |

Surprisingly well-behaved crowd (and when I say crowd, boy do I mean crowd) on a well kept beach. Umbrellas rent for $12 and beach chairs are $6. For an extra $3-$5, you can tip the highly accommodating umbrella guy to ensure the umbrella stays where it's dug in.

By Karen C |

First visit to Rehoboth Beach. The beach was clean and gets crowded fast. Make sure you arrive early. The lifeguards did a great job! We even saw dolphins swimming by.. It's a nice family beach with a nice Boardwalk!

By Jerry C |

We come to Rehoboth Beach a couple times every year. We come in the summer and again at Thanksgiving. We love the beach !!! It is very clean and very roomy and so picturesque !!! It very well maintained by the city and always enjoyable. Very family friendly !!!

By Highroads Traveler |

I love coming to Rehoboth Beach... it’s got the nicest family vibe! A run on the beach or a chill seat on the boardwalk to people watch... I try to get here in the off season or in the hot months with the action!

By Amber W |

This was a very nice clean beach. We went on a Monday so it wasn't too busy. They have umbrella and chair rental that was a decent price. We loved the boardwalk that bordered the beach and there were lots of options for food, shopping and activities.

By lindytrav36 |

Great family fun. The waves are usually on the small side, but if you have kids that's a good thing. No Smoking on beach is a plus. And not a long walk to the restrooms or boardwalk.

By Asa |

it's a public beach..lol
it was clean but a little too crowded for us. everything was as expected.
minimal mask wearing because it's outdoors but didn't feel safe about it due to how crowded the beach and boardwalk is.

By Lisa |

The beach is easy to access, and it is a short distance to the water and back to the boardwalk. It’s also clean, and everyone has been respectful of others space on our visit. It was an easy walk to get to the beach from our hotel with all of our belongings and small child. The water is very cold now (end of May), but we had warm weather to balance out the temps :)

By lovetoteach964 |

If you like crowds on weekends this is the beach for you. It’s has a wide beach area which is a plus, but a midweek visit is much more pleasant with fewer crowds.

By Matt S |

Great place to spend some time with Nature. Lost in the beauty of this amazing beach. Must visit in the evening time you will enjoy the sunset view.

By Liselotte L |

A large typical American beach with a dike. Not much special on the dike, typical amusement parks and ugly shops. If you are used to European beaches, you will be disappointed. This is okay for America.

By daisyferret1 |

Went down to the beach in November for this first time all year due to the Pandemic. Was glad to find the beach nearly empty. We were able to comfortably stroll along the sand, listening to the waves break on the shoreline. We saw some birds, sandpipers and seagulls. It was not a warm day since it was in November, so we did not sunbathe or swim. During the summer months, we have found this beach to be overly crowded, so we don't usually go here to swim in the summer. (Plus there is no true bath house & parking is by metered spots that is a good walking distance from the ocean). However, in the shoulder seasons, it can be a nice place to take a stroll. During the summer we enjoy the view from the boardwalk of the beach and dolphins swimming in the water. Beach sand is pretty soft but there are some pebbles. Not really a good place to hunt seashells though as most get busted up by the pounding of the surf.

Overall, this is a nice beach for a stroll or sunbathing. I am not fond of it for swimming due to having to lug your beach supplies blocks to the boardwalk, paying the meters and the rough surf. The rip currents can be bad and there are jetties to watch for when you swim. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months. The one plus is that food stands are literally steps from the beach. Sunrise view is beautiful.

Went for a day trip. It took an hour and a half to find a parking spot and get situated. Parking meters are very expensive $2.25/hr. That’s a lot of quarters or you can download an app and PayByPhone for another 50 cents. After that all was fine. Your average beach. Clean, typical rules in season. No alcohol, throwing things etc...nice boardwalk with lots of places to eat albeit at tourist prices. Very family friendly as long as you are open minded. Public restrooms available but not to change in. Bring your money and sunscreen. Not nearly as crowded or dirty as Ocean City, MD or boutiquey as the Hamptons. Outlet shopping nearby. Oh, and be ready for lots of traffic in season.

This is our favorite beach. We love the people, the town and the food. The beaches are well maintained and clean. We go at least twice a year.

By Drew |

My wife and I didn’t like what Ocean City has evolved into over the course of time. So last year we tried Rehoboth Beach! We discovered that it was cleaner, and much more family friendly than Ocean City. Also, this place has better places to eat, and has better attractions (Funland) for the kids, and less bars.

But at peak season it can get over crowded, and parking is VERY EXPENSIVE! It’s $9.50 per 3 hours! Also you would have to keep going back to your car to replenish your time paying $9.50 more for 3 additional hours. They give out tickets all day, I received one the first time we went. I believe it was $30-35 bucks! But I said to myself, it kinda evens out if I just take the ticket since parking can cost even more for the day. You can pay the ticket online. It’s ludicrous. But if you can get over paying for parking, you will find that this is a great alternative to Ocean City trash.

My only gripe is during our family’s second trip (June, 2019) they told us that we could not have our little (half-styled) pop up beach tent! Due to some obscure law passed in 2017 prohibited tents! But only baby tents measured at 36”x36”x36” was fine. Very petty! There reasoning was that when it gets crowded, the tents block the view of the ocean for tourist, and present a “danger” as people have trouble walking around them. Our tent works great at keeping our 1 year old, and 4 year old, my wife and I out of direct sunlight providing shade, and it has windows for airflow, we never get sun burn and works great (Pacific Breeze, Amazon).

All-in-all, a much better alternative to Ocean City. Family friendly. Clean. Diverse. Parking sucks, and can get over-crowded at peak season. But worth going for the experience. Enjoy.

I have been coming to Rehoboth for 26 years. It is a wonderful family friendly beach with a little something for everyone. You won’t find drunks on the beach or partying college kids on the streets here. You will feel safe and in good company. There’s just something about this town that attracts the most fabulous people. I always meet and have the most enjoyable conversations with strangers in Rehoboth. I hope to have a beach home here someday 💗😊

By satcheldog |

Rehoboth Beach is and immaculately kept beach withthe thickest layer of sand I have ever seen, You sink up to your ankles just walking thru it. But as inviting as the beach is, the Atlantic Ocean serves up ice cold water, Despite being there in the middle if the July 2019 heatwave that saw heat index readings in the 100-115 range, the water was very difficult to get used to. It has a family vibe that included all ages from very young children to golden agers. It is an idylic way to spend a warm day. Life guard are in abundance and really do keep an eye on those in the water.

DISABLED PEOPLE WATCH OUT - if you have a parking hang tag, don't cover it with a handicap parking hang tag. You will get a ticket, and if you appeal it, they will judge against you - and charge you the court cost. UNFAIR. I suggested that their city-issued hang tag include a warning for disabled tag holders. There's currently no warning. UNFAIR TO GIVE ME A TICKET WHEN MY HANGTAG WAS PRESENT AND VISIBLE.

Beach is very clean and family oriented. We have done every beach on East Coast from NE to Florida and have to say this past week was one of the best yet. Good weather and great waves always help.

By Linda D |

Unfortunately it was very windy and cool the day we visited in late April. Would love to have spent a day on the beach. It was long and very clean.

Enjoyed a positive experience on the beach. People were very friendly and enjoyed stopping by some of the shops on the way in. Great day!

I do not recommend Delaware beaches. The state hates tourists and does everything they can to make your experience miserable. And I’m a Delaware resident saying this! I recommend Maryland or New Jersey beaches. In the future, I will always travel away from Delaware for the beach.

By biddle04 |

We came to the beach this week and really enjoyed it. There are numerous very nice food/drink/snack options along the boardwalk, and you are able to run and ride bikes on the boardwalk in the morning.
The kids loved the water, and the parents loved the beach. It is very clean, with soft sand and nice waves.
The family comes up quite often and they really enjoy it.
The only strange thing is that there aren’t many public restrooms so you had to run back to the house.

By FlyDog33 |

Plenty of room on the beach for families, and people were respectful about social distancing. Most people wore masks walking to/from the boardwalk. Once people settled on a spot on the beach, they usually took off their masks. Since there were not as many people visiting due to the pandemic (vs. the typical summer crowds we’d seen in previous years), there were lots of convenient beach parking spots available.

By Diana T |

Got to the beach at 10am, which I considered early. It was already full, a few feet between other people, and got even worse as the day went on. Almost impossible to walk to the water without ducking under people's umbrellas and stepping on the beach towels.

By algpanther |

Have been going to Rehoboth Beach for 16+years and have always had a great time. The beach is clean, lifeguards are always attentive and although it's usually crowded most people are considerate and friendly. My kids and I always have a great time!

By ppark0927 |

The beach is very clean and it is easy to get to a very well maintained restroom. There were lots of sunbathers there but I liked how it was very easy to access.

By Plucas1234 |

Spent two days on the beach after Labor Day. Beach was still very crowded and weather was extremely hot on Wednesday. Great beach for relaxing and reading.

So my wife and I stopped here for lunch on our way back from ocean city, After putting $2 in coins into the parking meter, it then states that something went wrong with the coins... SO we put in a credit card for another $2 and got a 30 minute parking receipt. We lost $4 to park for 30 minutes... but then we come back to our car to find a $30 parking ticket because we were 4 minutes over our 30 minutes... 4 fricken minutes... and after put enough money into the broken meter...
After looking at the other cars, I noticed all the cars with parking tickets were from out of state... Hmm. Targeting maybe. Many cars didn't have parking receipts in there windows and they didn't have parking tickets... I'm glad we only stopped for lunch and left. I wont be returning to Rehoboth for any reason if this is the type of hospitality they have.
Screw you city of Rehoboth, fix your parking meters!

If you like visiting public beaches this one is a winner. It is very clean and picturesque and has a great boardwalk with lots of shopping and food options. Lots of families.

September at Rehoboth Beach has wonderful weather, warm water, clean sand, great restaurants and shops and NO crowds. Street parking is free and plentiful. Whats not to love?

By Karen P |

We love going to Rehoboth and walking around town. It makes us feel like we are experiencing life in the 1950s. Great town.

By 963852741w |

It is great for a family visit. Nice beach, a lot of attractions for kids, the only downside is that the sea is a bit cold for swimming.

By DrGoodaye |

Fun event on a clean and inviting beach.Rehoboth is safe, clean, has a great boardwalk, lots of shops and food.

By Tom L |

Nice place to walk/jog in the morning. We arrived on a Weds and the beach was not crowded. However when we went down on Saturday morning it got packed! Dolphins most mornings, water was warm, and weather perfect!

By Norjeff2 |

Beach has a typical boardwalk and is kept clean but was packed during the 4th. Well manned with life guards and walking police patrol. Everyone was respectful of the space around them including no loud music. Parking is metered so bring a ton of quarters or get the ParkMobile app. Locals told me the beach is not usually this packed on most days.

By Doris P |

Delaware beaches have the most beautiful sand and Rehoboth does not disappoint. Unlike Jersey Beaches, there is no fee to use the public beaches, but it can crowded in a hurry, so if you want to be in the thick of things, be sure to arrive early or you will be parking quite a distance from the main town. There are plenty of other areas in town to access the Beach, so no worries if shopping and restaurants aren't your thing.

By CMiller_12 |

Seriously there is a tshirt that has been created by the businesses there because of the City of Rehoboth and their Parking entrapment. No meter signs and they have arrows on the parking spaces pointing to a box that may be completely opposite that where you think the parking meter for your area should be but you better look closely and really it doesn't matter because we got tickets a second day and spent the afternoon at the ticket place to get a "reduced ticket" and the parking meter had put out a wrong number!! But you can appeal the says but probably will not winand it will cost you an extra $10 on top of the $30 for wasting their time trying to appeal it.
FIND ANOTHER BEACH!!! You will get attacked by the sea gulls snatching your food out of your hands anyway so just don't waste your time. What a disappointment!!

By s c |

This beach is very clean and so pretty. I caught the sun rise!
My son who was serving in the Navy passed away this past June, so I wanted to come to the ocean. I wanted to write his name in the sand & take a picture, as a kind of memorial. I ended up taking a video too. As I walked on the beach I found a perfect smooth stone, I picked it up & washed it in the ocean. I'm going to put it on his grave when I visit next.

By CandaceG2 |

It’s a typical Delaware/Maryland beach. No beach tags necessary. Very crowded near the boardwalk. Beach is not long so it gets very crowded.

By ValueValueValue |

For much of the ‘90s, I lived in Philadelphia and “discovered” Rehoboth as an alternative to the Jersey shore and its hellish traffic. Delaware had just upgraded Route 1 to a freeway standard and the modest toll was worth it. Comparing notes with Avalon/Stone Harbor-bound colleagues, my drives were often shorter than theirs.

Looking back, that Route 1 upgrade was the beginning of the end. Went back this weekend for the first time in 23 years. Suffice it to say: never again. Any charm that its typically tacky boardwalk might have had was GONE, and the beach was both more crowded, more compact and less tidy than I had remembered it. The boardwalk and Rehoboth Avenue in the evenings were unpleasantly busy.

There are some nice restaurants and the absence of a sales tax (even on meals out) was a nice surprise. But when the highlight of one’s visit to the area is a trip to the outlet malls (and we don’t even like shopping), you know that they’ve got the “formula” wrong.

Between rental car and hotel we spent a thousand dollars for 3 days/2 nights and were just really disappointed. We won’t ever go back.

By Regina v |

I have enjoyed Rehoboth's clean public beach for several years with my extended family. Umbrellas are readily available for rent and lifeguards are present. Go early in the day in the summer to get a good spot on the sand with ocean views and breezes.

By Pragyan |

Nice beach and boardwalk. Great restaurants. Parking is a hassle and way overpriced. No free parking even further away from the beach. While I liked the beach and atmosphere, I prefer other locations (Ocean City, MD; or even Virginia Beach) for easier and more reasonably priced parking and access.

By Lisa D |

this beach is very clean and everyone can have fun either sitting under an umbrella and relaxing or rushing in to water to catch a wave.

By tammyBaltimore_Md |

Actually 80 degrees today (last day of October), beautiful day to walk on the beach, but typically Fall/Winter is so much nicer to explore vs summer & the rush of people (in my opinion).

By Nicole H |

Beautiful beach. Water is typical east coast - a little murky, but the beach is clean and broad and there's room for everyone. Beware - you cannot use a tent/canopy, only umbrellas are allowed. And no alcohol - well, at least no obvious alcohol. Lifeguards were VERY attentive to those in the water.

By Monica F |

Beautiful beach! If you like sun surf and shopping you will adore Rehoboth Beach. Keep in mind somewhat busier on boardwalk but go down side streets for all little shops. Check times when stores and restaurants open before you go as times vary greatly and even days of week shops are open and closed.

By Justin W |

It was an unusually warm day in December and it gave me a chance to walk on the beach and soak my feet in the ocean without it being freezing cold.

The sand was so soft and between the cool water and the salt air, it made it so nice to just relax and enjoy the feeling and the sounds of the beach. The cool water felt so good on my feet and I just let it run over them.

It was sunny and clear and it really made the day.

By JustMe985 |

We love the Rehoboth Beach! Everything we needed was right there. Umbrellas and chairs to rent, life guards, shops & restaurants. Fun for the family!!

By Bluebirdsinging |

Enjoyed the Rehoboth Beach Public Beach on a cool windy September day. Water was very rough but fun to watch the waves and the foam "snowballs" cover the beach.

By crapschick |

LOVE this beach. Why? Plenty of bathrooms. Plenty of entrances to it. Family oriented. Plenty of lifeguards. Easy access. It's FREE!

We loved it and will definitely be back. The water was a cool 72 degrees but there were plenty of people in the water. There were calm areas as well as areas with nice waves.

All kinds of people go here, but mostly families.

Loved it.

By John L |

Just got here about 1/2hour ago and love it. Beach is exceptionally clean. Lifeguards on duty doing their jobs. Parking could be better but not bad. Drove around about 15min till we found a spot, but well worth it.

By Anthony G |

By Brittany_11_10 |

Nice beach in a cute little beach town, but pretty crowded in the summer, even on weekdays. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, and places to grab a treat just up on the boardwalk, and you can expect to pay typical beach town prices. Not the best beach I've ever been to by far, but cute enough and good sand to walk/lay on.

By cricketg1 |

We have vacationed here for several years. There are 13 of us and we love many activities available for all of us. There boardwalk is a treat for all with lots of browsing, shopping and great food and drink.
We have found parking much easier now with the easier app pay method.
The only adversity to the beach....major drop off with some undertow.......need to be cautious but all love the giant waves!!!!!

By jim W |

We've been taking the kids and grandkids to Rehoboth Beach Delaware for 25 or so years. we have never been disappointed in restaurants so wonderful Playland is remarkable in that you don't have to break the bank to have fun.

Now word of caution. Over the years Rehoboth Beach has developed a summer weekly rental of many of its houses. I caution anyone who enters into one of these rental agreements to read the agreement carefully. We tried to rent a house this year from one of the more popular Realtors, called Jack Lingo Realty, and were shocked at the arrogance and outright scamming this company was trying to get away with. when I called the Delaware consumer agency to complain I was told that Delaware add a very modern owner rental agreement that it was very proud of. However short-term rentals like those at Rehoboth Beach were exempted from the law. They told me that the agency or owner can pick whatever they want in the lease agreement and it would be binding.
the contract they wanted us to sign.

By herehere2016 |

Lots of choices, walk the boardwalk for a full range of drinks, food and games. Watch out for the local bold seagulls that will dive right up to you looking for free eats. Arcade games, bumper cars and a full range of beach and tourist gear available.

Clean beach with plenty of room to spread out. Family friendly with kids roaming all over the place. Bicycles are allowed on the boardwalk until 10am. Plenty of beachfront lodging and restaurants nearby.

Parking meters and a public parking lot are available on a first come basis. The beach gets extremely hot, so bring cool beverages, suntan lotion and an umbrella or you’ll have to stay in the water to escape the intense summer heat.

Busy boardwalk with many families and young kids strolling around.

Rehoboth is a great place for the family. We stopped to check it out on our way to Ocean City. After visiting both places I wish we would have stayed in Rehoboth.

By Tammy G |

This is the first trip me and my fiance took to Rehoboth Beach. The Holiday Inn Express was a great place to stay! Very clean and the staff is helpful and accommodating, however our experience after leaving the hotel was not enjoyable. The traffic on 1 to get to the beach is horrendous and there are state troopers constantly pulling drivers over. When you finally get to the beach there is no parking and there are so many cars, people walking, riding bikes etc and the beach is overcrowded. We have been to Ocean City, Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach and even Jersey shore and we never had that experience.

By fiamma11 |

This beach is very clean and family friendly. Clean sand to build castles and waves to enjoy the sound. Just what I need in a beach, plus it is not as crowded as many others which is awesome in my opinion.

By Cathy R |

Great family vacation spot!
although parking is not as close or as many as other beaches, nevertheless it's a great place to visit and chill

By LavaJava96 |

We saw dolphins and what can be better than that. We were there for only one day, and lo and behold, there were 5 dolphins out there. One jumped up near my husband and boys. Later on, another pod joined these 5 and there were around 10 dolphins! Lifeguards blew the whistle to make everyone get out of the water (that's how close they were). I don't know how common it is for dolphins to appear but we loved it and would totally go back to this beach.

Also, it has a nice boardwalk with typical boardwalk types food (like ice cream, and fried snacks).

We also checked out the outlets after the beach. A lot of traffic on that main road!

By Stephanie S |

Very beautiful beach! The beach itself is not quite long. In parts of jersey we tend to find ourselves walking very far to get from the car or hotel to the actual water. Here the beach is not very wide. It does get super crowded especially around Baltimore ave. Lifeguards are on duty here. People are around on the beach at night too. Usually very busy all day long, but still clean and very nice.

By David S |

I've been coming here for decades and one of the best aspects is that it's not overwhelming like Ocean City MD, but it does offer everything for kids, adults, families, and people from all walks of life. Parking really stinks because of the no extension policy, you only get 3 hours each time and can't extend it. You have to move to another spot when time expires, or risk getting a ticket. There are other spots not on the main stretch on Rehoboth Avenue that offer extended time, but they fill up fast.

As for the beach, it's very clean, is close to food and entertainment options on the small boardwalk and up Rehoboth Avenue. And the public bathroom right at the end of Rehoboth Avenue is very clean, too. Overall, one of my favorite beaches that offer a bit more than Bethany or Fenwick, but at the same time not overrun with problems like Ocean City MD or Wildwood NJ.

By Stella-Dot |

I went here with friends and we spent a long time walking not only along the promenade but also the beached area. It was very quiet, but blustery on the day we went. The breakers were magnificent. To watch the sunset go down here was a sight to behold.

By edwardfeldkamp |

there are no signs saying there is a parking program last time there we used metters 30 dollars fine

Clean, pretty beach, and its free. Crazy waves, they will knock you down. I lost my sunglasses but don't hold it against the ocean! Boardwalk is really nice. Clean and pleasant. We saw lots of dolphins. Parking is inexpensive. We were there on a weekday and had no problem finding a spot.

By NavyJAG |

Nice popular family beach with plenty of room. However, there's a fairly sudden drop off into deeper water, which causes waves to break near shore (which is dangerous for small children).

By Rachel K |

Not too crowded. Lifeguards. Waves that were the perfect size. Lots of sand to play with. Beautiful weather. Kids had a lot of fun.

By Danielle C |

The people I’ve encountered on this beach are happy to be here spending time w/friends & family. It’s my 2nd year coming w/a teenage niece & we both LOVE the welcoming & relaxed nature of people we’ve met. LGBTQ friendly spot & most ethnically diverse beach I’ve been to. To have had this place recommended was SWEET!! Enjoy this beach with your favorite people.

By Keep Life Simple Allan |

The beach at Rehoboth is more upscale than ocean City. Not as many shops but more low key. It's not a party beach so I think that's what it gets some bad reviews. I myself liked it and would stay again

By nativemeadow |

Lovely Beach and family friendly area with wonderful state park and bike trails. Cape Henlopen State park is beautiful with amazing coastal / marsh wildlife and bird sanctuary. Riding through the parks bike trails, you are able to hear only nature!

By TomOinGburg |

Our kids are grown, but we did spend several vacations at Rehoboth Beach, I do not see the "teeny bopper" crowds (there are some, but more diversity). Parking is not cheap, but many of the close to the beach hotels have off street parking which will offset the higher cost, it pays to shop around. Don't forget tax free shopping!

By M2920 |

Beautiful, short walk to ocean compared to Jersey beaches. Dog friendly. No smoking. Looking forward to returning.

By EricS74NYY |

there are much nicer stretches of beach in Dewey Beach. We avoided this area, other than a quick walk through on Friday evening.

By ladymacb29 |

Lots of public restrooms (3) and places to rent umbrellas and/or chairs. The lifeguards seem pretty attentive as well. Lots of room on the sand and people don't seem to be sitting on top of each other.

By Adam |

Soft sand beaches and natural dunes makes Reho a winner. Different parts of the beaches cater to different crowds. Head to the south end you will likely find the festive rainbow crowds.

By Tracey M |

This is a family friendly beach with a beautiful Sandy beach. The beach is busy, but you can always find a spot to set up your umbrellas and chairs. The life guards are attentive which makes you feel safe.

By Carla A |

Nice beach. Life guards on duty during day hours. Clean area. Kids loved it. Easy access off of the boardwalk.

By John L |

We haven't been to Rehoboth in a number of years and decided to take a trip today. The beach is not very wide and was surprisingly more crowded for the last weekend in September that I expected. Parking was not bad and beach access was easy and no fees. We will be back again, it is far better than the crowded, rude, dirty Jersey beaches that have the nerve to charge for access.

By Wano16 |

I really enjoyed our trip to the beach. I'm from Florida originally so I can be picky, but this wasn't bad. Soft sand, a little browner than I'm used to but lots of it. It was packed on the weekend before the fourth of July. Umbrella to umbrella. Parking is non-existant if you show up after mid morning. Lots of spaces, but even more cars. Lots of shops and restaurants right on the beach. Lifeguards are present. Not bad at all!

By PattyP2013 |

Spent 2 days of our vacation at Rehoboth Beach. It was definitely crowded due to prime vacation times, and traffic was crazy. So, we took the DART bus from our hotel - only $2 (via the bus lanes only) and it dropped us off right at the beach - it couldn't be more convenient. We walked south on the boardwalk for less than a block (directly at the drop-off was packed) and we found a wonderful area, great cabana men and they were happy to quickly put up our umbrellas and beach chairs to get us settled. My only complaint was that we had to surrender our beach umbrellas at 5 pm - so if you have your own, bring them. Bathrooms were easily accessible, outside shower wash-off was right at the entrance to the beach, and we could bring our cooler for drinks and snacks. However, other snacks were within an easy walk of our site on the beach - overall, a great day!

This is my favorite beach. The water and the beach are clean. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. Even in the rain it is a great place to be.

By LovingLifejd |

We had never been to this beach before and were all pleasantly surprised. The beach while, busy, was never "on top of each other" annoyingly crowded. It's kept very clean and the visitors we encountered were equally pleasant & considerate. I'd say there's a fair mix of couples, families and singles, but from what I understand if you are looking for a party/rowdy beach-you should got to Dewey, not our cup of tea, but worth pointing out. We also felt the boardwalk was really very nice, tons and tons of shops etc but didn't have the tacky/cheesy feel the NJ Shore has. There's also umbrella/chair rentals available and a pretty reasonable rate. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, so when we could we just "ubered" it to the beach, which worked out quite well. We will be back!

By triciamc3 |

The Beach is family friendly and clean. Our family has been coming here for 30 years and have found no reason to go anywhere else. The beach is clean and there are lifeguards during Summer. The perfect spot to watch sunrise!

By Thats-me-at-3 |

Aside from the town of Rehoboth being spectacular to visit, the beach itself is always great too.

During my recent visit, it was packed, but everyone was friendly and doing one of the things they were specifically there to do - relaxing.

The waves were HUGE and the water temperature was just right. There are plenty of lifeguards patrolling the water and the beach is clean and well maintained.

I was in the beach area of Wilmington Ave. and although it was crowded, I thoroughly enjoyed my day at the beach.

By Cheryl L P |

Very clean and family oriented beach and boardwalk.
Lots of Tangerine outlets in the area for rainy days.

On another day other than the holiday probably would have been nicer. That day was the worst day to go.

By Momto3dudes |

This was a Saturday visit and it was extremely warm that day (95 degrees) but I have never seen so many people on a beach before. I’ve been to the Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Lido Key, Destin and more and they were never even close to being this busy. I wish I had taken a picture... The sand was nice, there was no litter that was apparent, so the beach itself was nice, but again, way too busy for me.

By Gram |

best place to be if you want to have fun or to relax and get a sun kissed tan.
The beach is very clean and there is a place for everyone our family went for the fourth of July and even though the beach was crowded everyone made room for the newbee's that came later on in the day.
Life guard's are on top of their game watching everyone, really impressed me.
While your splashing in the water you can even get a glimpse of the school of dolphins that may swim by on occasion.

By Nancy W.V. |

Wide white sand beach to enjoy. Ocean temperature allowed some swimmers in the ocean.Room to spread out.

By Waterman10DE |

Terrible experience. No parking. Super aggressive out-of-staters. Dirty with overflowing trash cans. Sadly it is turning into the Jersey shore.

By Smiles4miles |

This is a pretty beach but it was just way too crowded to enjoy. I preferred staying on the Boardwalk and just looking at the beach from afar.

By Bethann L |

Have been coming to Rehoboth for many many years and it is getting more and more crowded. The sad thing is the amount of trash left on the beach at the end of the day. People just don't care and think someone else will clean up after them. It's disheartening to see.

By carldnelson |

Beach and boardwalk were very pleasant. In early season no crowding and all parking is free. Found good food and some good shopping all central to the boardwalk.

By Catherine W |

Beach was clean and very well guarded. Lots of families. Beach gets very crowded early so if you want front row, get there by 8:30. You can rent chairs ($6 each) and umbrellas ($12), but that can get expensive. Waves never get too high, and the water was refreshingly cool (69 degrees). Best part was the pod of dolphins swimming right off the beach all day. Great beach, would definitely come back.

By ED L |

Very nice beach spotlessly clean but very very crowded in August. Beach was umbrella to umbrella. Though will return will do so in a month like June or september

By arbknyc |

The entire experience has been beautifully orchestrated to be convenient and relaxing, exactly what a beach vacation should be. Thanks, C of C.

By _kjolm |

The boardwalk is a real nice place to be, but does get crowded at times. Rehoboth is becoming a national attention now. The only gripe I have, while I love dogs, there is no one is enforcing the rules of “NO DOGS BETWEEN MAY 1st and SEPT. 30.” So you know those chosen few selfish people let their dogs do their number 2 business boardwalk and beach, then keep on walking! It’s disgusting!

By zorro181 |

If you are in the Mid-Atlantic region it is a good summer time place to visit. Retirees are moving from New York and New Jersey so it is getting crowded and traffic is better in Fall or Spring.

By mrbonidie |

We had a great time the water was warm and the waves were plenty and the beach was clean!!! I much preferred it to other beaches we have been to in the extreme south. A hidden gem in the NE check it out soon.

By Robbie R |

Want to feel the ocean vibes without getting sand in your sneakers? Great location - but in summer plan to finish by 10am when the beach goeers take over!

By PattyPhiladelphia |

We were there in Sept, after Labor Day, so it was not as jam packed as it would be in the summer. It was just right. The boardwalk is fun, with lots of options for food, and if you want to stroll around the blocks closest to the boardwalk there are tons of great spots to eat. Vendors on the beach rent chairs and umbrellas too.

By Dan Sullivan |

There's nothing like nestling into the soft, white sand of Rehoboth Beach, either protected by a towel or by just digging in. Indeed, some beachgoers bury themselves neck deep in cool wet sand. (I did this once and it is surprisingly comfortable.) Other beachgoers jog along the seaside in the morning, feet splashing as the waves approach. I personally like to rent an umbrella and chair, and sit there watching the ocean ebb and flow, as people exercise, play frisbee, build sandcastles, and swim. I visited recently with my partner and we had a great day at the beach, lunching on delivered sandwiches under the umbrella, and staying until sunset, when the lifeguards pulled back their chairs for the evening. It's a peaceful and pleasant time, there on Rehoboth Beach, as the sun begins to set, and the quiet of night begins to make its way towards the grassy dunes that abut the boardwalk.

Very crowded beach, took one look at all the umbrellas and went back to the boardwalk to check a box. Had the fries which were very good. Walked the boardwalk, typical beach town. Tons of t'shirt places, candy, popcorn and food /restaurants. Getting there from 10-15 minutes out took over an hour the traffic is horrendous in the area and the parking as well. Be prepared you need to load a parking app everywhere. As someone said no cost to use beach but parking instead. We managed an hour there before we said," let's get out of this mess".

Smoking is prohibited on the beach which is a good thing. It makes it that much more enjoyable and family friendly.

I needed to ask two different public safety officers a few questions regarding parking, hours to ride bikes, etc. and they were both very willing to assist me and had a nice attitude.

The beach was great. I recommend bringing beach chairs and small umbrellas. There is a place to rent them, but save yourself money and bring your own. The kids loved playing with beach toys in the sand and running to the waves. Wonderful adventure!

There are so many things that keep me coming back to Rehoboth. I've never had a problem finding a clean, relaxing spot on the sand. I can truly say that no matter how big the crowds have been on any given day my trips here are always enjoyable. Never excessively noisy and every beachgoer I've ever met here has been genial. Who could ask for much more. I love this beach.

Awesome beach with a great boardwalk, showers for rinsing off and some nice options for snacks, treats and shopping. Even saw some dolphins early in the morning.

FAR too busy, and there's about 20 parking spots. We drove 3.5 hours from Washington D.C., circled for around 1 hour searching for parking, and drove right back home. It was unbelievable. Each "parking lot" next to the beach has ~20 spots, and thousands of cars competing for them. The really annoying part is there seems to be one of these small parking lots for every 1.5 miles of beach. The rest of the parking is in the residential neighborhoods, and you just have to find a spot where there isn't a "permit only" sign.

Clean beach with trash cans close by. Lifeguards on duty and patrolling along the water. No annoying photographers or beach tag checks like NJ. Boardwalk close by with many options for such or dinner. Only complaint is that they allow large parties to set up hours ahead of time and hold spot early in morning but don't come until 11:00.

This was my first time to Rehoboth Beach and I'd go back at a momentt's ntice. Loved the friendliness of peple, the clean sand, the ability to rent chairs and umbrellas for the day and leave them to be picked up by staff. The boardwalk was a treat as well to get some exercise as the portions are so big at the restaurants.
