Resurrection Bay is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking and I would definitely recommend visiting on your trip to Alaska! So gorgeous!

Really good.. and exiting place to have a great cruise.. there is a chance of whales and other animals as well.

By Brian H |

Beautiful bay surrounded by mountains. Loved walking around looking at the sights. The waterfront had sea otters and seabirds.

By VermontAtlanta |

My husband and I enjoyed this cruise to see the geography of the bay, the glaciers, and the sea lions. No whales that day. The captain's narration through out was excellent.

By Bigcityeater |

Beautiful bay which we hiked around and also went fishing and sightseeing. Well worth going to and would suggest you find some way to tour around it.

By Marc W |

The Bay and surroundings mountains and glaciers is a must see when visiting Seward
The Glacier scenic boat tour always surprises with whales and sea otters

By Ann M |

It was a lovely day and we saw everything on our watch list, including a pod of orcas close by our boat, a couple of humpback whales, sea lions, seals, otters, Hogate Glacier (lovely). Major Marine Tours is local and they do a fantastic job. The meal of salmon and prime rib was very good, but also a bit of a distraction as its served when you arrive at the glacier. They do leave plenty of time to take photos and sit on top deck taking in the scenery. Great trip.

If you get to Seward, Alaska make sure you get on a boat tour of some kind to get out and see Resurrection Bay. Some of the most beautiful scenery in Alaska awaits you. From towering mountains, beautiful canyons and rock formations to incredible glaciers and avalanche areas. In addition the wildlife is amazing. You are like to see whales, sea lions, otters and much more. The array of feathered friends is also spectacular.

By caitlyn m |

Its lovely just to watch the whales and wildlife. Drive by, walk by, boat in it. Not a bad way to see it.

By Adventurers8 |

We had a fabulous day on our full day whale and glacier eperience with Major Marine. The Captain, Crew, and National Park Ranfer ensured that we saw the most sea life, birds, and glaciers possible as we motored across the bay.

By lirwin13 |

I took a cruise out to Northwestern Fjord, and we spent quite a bit of time touring Resurrection Bay before heading out. We saw plenty of sea otters and humpback whale, and on the return trip, we saw seals and sea lions in the bay. The water was much calmer than the water further out, so if you are prone to seasickness, this is a great place to see wildlife in calm water.

By Robin R |

We stayed in a house that fronted on the bay, and enjoyed the view every minute we were there. The bay is surrounded by mountains and is well worth a visit to the area. If you can arrange it, take a boat trip into the bay to see the wildlife and further enjoy the scenery.

By Robert C |

We toured Resurrection Bay on a guided boat tour. Beauty abounds as we saw sea otters swimming around, watched the ever funny Puffins taking off, saw sea lions sunning and whales feeding.
Our guided boat tour was very interesting on Kenai Fjord Tours.

By Q7995WXsandrah |

9 family members, ages 7 to 74, went on a tour with Major Marine tours for Kenai Fjords and had a fabulous 4 hour tour. We saw several fin whales, many dall's porpoises that swam with the boat, sea otters, sea lions, both horned and tufted large flocks of puffins, cormorants, murres, oystercatchers, mew galls, kittywakes, bald eagles, spires/islands, coves, glaciers, mountains, and so much more. We had a wonderful crew with a captain who gave historic and nature commentary as we went along which was such a nice treat! We saw everything real close and were able to get great photos. We were amazed at how many different creatures we were able to view. Our crew was so helpful in combating sea sickness with several of our group and were very compassionate. Nice treat with complimentary beverages too! A+++

Unbelievable view, great sights and smells. If you’re anywhere near Seaward you need to see this bay!

By mistyschulz |

The views of the mountains are beautiful here. The water color is a nice aqua green. My husband and I fished for salmon by snagging. I caught a large Chum Salmon, a nice Sockeye Salmon, and a Pink Salmon. My husband caught 2 Pinks. We had a great time fishing here in our waders with great views.

By Aftynn |

Went for a hike here, it is a relatively low level of skill hike. The scenery is gorgeous and we stopped on the beach for a snack we packed along.

By jonathan h |

Very nice place to visit. Seen lots of wild life. Took a cruise across the bay. Can't deny the existence of God after visiting a place like this

By begnrmind2017 |

Enjoyed our walk along Resurrection Bay path from downtown Seward to the cruise port. Sea life signs great but could add more about the Alaska earthquake tidal waves here.

By Linda K |

Resurrection Bay is what Seward is all about. Its beautiful from almost any point along the waterfront in Seward and out on Lowell Point. Some great photo ops and a chance to see whales, otters, kayakers & cruise ships coming and going. If you have the time I highly recommend an all day boat tour out of Seward, a walk on the beach at Lowell Point and camp or stay at a site on Lowell Point such as the Paddle Inn so you can wake up to an unbelievable panorama of the bay.

By oek9mom |

I love Resurrection Bay....it's opportunities to get some great photo shots is boundless...I mean where else do you just see eagles hanging out?

By neenee561 |

Resurrection Bay offers absolutely beautiful views of the Alaska mountains and glaciers. This part of the state offers an opportunity to be up close with its beautiful nature.

By jamestB5009YJ |

We had a week in Alaska and did three day cruises. Two were with the same cruise line - to Kenai Fjords (5 hrs) and Prince William Sound-Resurrection Bay (5.25 hr), each with a great buffet meal (additional cost). The third cruise was a short one hour cruise on Portage lake - on the inland side of the Whittier tunnel. All were excellent. Kenai showed wildlife - animals, birds, and sea life. In Portage, you went close up to a glacier's face. Resurrection Bay was our favorite cruise. You also come close up to the glacier's face as "rafts" of otters floated by and the captain turned off the engines. The quiet gave the chance for the sounds of the cracking, pops, and tremendous noise of shifting ice to stand out. When we were there, some large chunks of ice calved and fell into the water. It does demonstrate the shrinking of the glaciers. But the trip is more than about just the glacier, though that was pretty spectacular. We enjoyed snow covered mountains on all sides throughout most of the cruise, saw other glaciers at more of a distance, bald eagles, otters, and even witnessed a humpback whale breach out of the water in an impressive display, though I missed taking the photo. I would definitely take this cruise again.

By Questovia |

This beautifully protected bay is so full of birds, fish and onshore wildlife that you are never quite sure which direction to look. Gorgeous, gorgeous.

By aspiritrider |

A five hour cruise to see wildlife and learn about Resurrection Bay. Lots of birds, seals, sea lions, maybe a whale - did not see the whale itself just blowing its spout misty cloud! Some explanation of its formation by glaciers, glaciers present up and away from the bay and their influence currently. Park Service Ranger on board probided some narration and offered junior ranger program for kids of all ages. Really enjoyed riding outside in the almost constant rain/mist.

By Devin M |

My wife and I visiting Resurrection Bay. You can start by just walking around the harbor and grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many over priced (but still good food) restaurants.

Everyday we would talonted [sic] sea dive bombing seagulls dive into the water and fly away with a fish in hand. Otters (occasionally a raft) are present in the bay and diligently swing around diving and surfacing to eat a clam or mussel. Quite joyful to watch.

We took one of the many boat tours available which I also recommend. We took one of the small private boat tours which was worth every penny but we saw bigger ships as well which I assume are cheaper. Norther Latitude Adventures (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g60873-d7730585-Reviews-Northern_Latitude_Adventures-Seward_Alaska.html)

We saw 3 types of whales (well really 2 and an Orca) two breeds of sea lines, 2 breeds of puffins, and many other wonderful things. One of the most unexpected pleasures was Holgate Glacier. I could have spent hours there just relaxing and listening to the cleaving. I never thought to be impressed by a big block of ice. Impressive and beautiful.

By MDV |

I’ll never forget this place. This was my 2nd time here. I got De Ja Vu until I realized that a lot of my night time favorite dreams recreate scenery from this bay. My family couldn’t live here, but Wow! What a beautiful place! I’d keep coming back if I could.

By Steven B |

We took a boat tour; hiked next to (not on) the Exit Glacier, sea kayaked near Fox island and explored the downtown. Would love to return

By grammyeaster |

This is a beautiful scenic area..
There is a park with seating to watch boats, several camping sites.

By TMish2014 |

This Bay is gorgeous. Best to see by boat — on a cruise and/or small boat excursion. Even my teenagers were impressed by the beauty.

By Pitt-Duq |

This is a beautiful area, and a good place to see some of Alaska's wonderful natural views. The mountains and glaciers are outstanding. There is always a chance of seeing some of the local wildlife and sea creatures.

By JPRKS |

We tent-camped here while Homer was closed due to the fired and the place was packed with RVs and other tents, to the point the waterfront was full. With all those campers, it would have been nice if the bathrooms were maintained. Only one of the total-TWO showers worked, and one men's restroom had a broken toilet with poop all over the seat and the bowl filled with a yellow-brown swirl of water and toilet paper. My father in law noticed these issues early in the morning, and nearly two hours later so did I. Do people work here? These issues caused significant lines that the city should have been actively working to fix given the influx of campers.

There is also no indication of how one is supposed to claim a site, but fortunately fellow campers were there to explain it to us. Evidently, you get a ticket, then choose a site, but no one had been by for a couple days so all the vacant sites appeared taken because no employees bothered to remove their tickets. If campers are supposed to, there should be a sign explaining how the process works. I suppose we could have asked the host in the next door RV area, but they were never present for the two days we camped here, their sign always saying they were out.

The only thing that saved this review from being one star is the response time of a city employee. As it turns out, people DO work here. Both the campground and harbor master center shower token dispensers were emptied, and after calling KOA (who wanted a whopping $10 for one shower) and driving aimlessly looking for a backup host, we found a host several areas away who could only call a city employee to hand out tokens, despite the fact the signs said they had them.

We expected no response, but a Seward city employee did arrive about ten minutes later in her personal vehicle to refill the machine, and gave all nine people waiting for showers tokens. I get that this was an unusual time given local events, but those occurred a couple days before our stay. Doesn't anyone working for the city watch the news and plan ahead? Or at least employ people who can better maintain their campgrounds?

Don't recommend.

By tmccabe2017 |

Resurrection is simply breathtaking. We went on a whale watching / glacier tour as well as fishing trip and kayaking on another day and each day we were mesmerized by the scenery.

By Kathleen |

This bay is large and beautiful. A walk along its rocky shore is peaceful. We saw river otters near the dock area too. Out in the bay we saw whales breach and sea otters swimming. There is an abundance of experiences here and just being able to look out on it is something we will long remember.

By Cedric Spence |

One of the most beautiful areas I’ve ever seen in my life!! Once in a lifetime experience, especially for military personnel.

By TYWMi |

Thoroughly enjoyed the scenic beauty of the bay, the snow capped mountains. Harbor is quite buzzling. But if you walk further away, it is quite peaceful.

By Bill F |

Incredible landscape, freh air, and dont forget the water. The tap water is glacier water that is the least contaminated most delicious tap water i have ever had. At every meal, i skipped the wine, soda or coffee for the water. Looking forward to returning next summer in our motorhome (we flew and took a cruise this trip) so we can sabor the beauty for a longer period of time.

By Tim S |

Easily one of the most stunning places I visited while in Alaska. Fun to just sit by the Bay and watch the water, hike through some trails, or kayak and view some wildlife (saw seals, eagles, and porpoises). Stunning!

By Russell G |

stopped here on our cruise through Alaska. beautiful views. Breathtaking views of the Glaciers. Don't miss it if you are in the area.

By P8691VGpeterg |

We stayed at Cottage on the Bay on Lowells Point 3 miles south of Seward. View of Resurrection Bay from the cottage was fabulous.

By RONALD D |

We watched humpbacks feeding in the bay from our hotel room and during a stroll along the shoreline in Seward. During a boat tour, we saw a humpback continuously breaching for over an hour. We also saw several sea otters, sea lions, and a pod of orcas. Great place to do a boat tour!

By Eigbrettmom |

Even in the misty Alaskan rain this is an absolute must see! Glaciers, wildlife, boats, the harbor, so much to see in such a huge bay. There are many stores, tour companies, roads to walk, even a camp ground!

By SteelCity13 |

Beautiful Bay with great wildlife. Got to kayak all along the bay and we took time to pull up on the banks for a lunch and explore the rain forest. This is a beautiful bay. The air quality is amazing and so much grows and lives in this area.

By TheSandyCrab |

Beautiful scenery and a great way to start our cruise. Loved the peaceful feeling and wonderful clean smell as we set sail into the inside passage.

By HMK27 |

Spent 6 spectacular days camping on the bay and touring and hiking all around it. Most beautiful scenery I've ever seen! Wildlife was everywhere. This stop should be at the top of everyone's bucket list!

By karen2450 |

Taking a cruise is the only way to experience this. Wildlife abounds and if you take a cruise you will see it all

By Rebecca M |

We were fortunate to see a humpback whale, sea lions and a lot of birds including two types of puffins. The landscape is beautiful. Well worth the boat ride.

By Bear_over_mountain |

Stunning views! Seward is a delightful village from which to explore this region. We enjoyed a boat tour of Resurrection Bay and went all the way to the glaciers in the next bay. The blue sky and snow covered mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to the sea life.

By sc40sumthin |

loved walking the shore of resurrection bay! so peaceful and beautiful. we say seals and otters in the water. very peaceful place to see

By dpetrowske |

Resurrection Bay is very pretty and apparently it is loaded with salmon because we watched people fishing from the shoreline. we stayed at a lodge that sat right along it and took a boat ride that went through it. Pretty scenery.

By McHibernia |

Beautiful Bay with lots to do, fishing, drinking, Kayaking, Hiking, sightseeing, boat tours an amazing town called Seward and the sea life center.

By Scott B |

We took a boat cruise. We saw all sorts of sea life including humpback whales and orca whales. The people on the boat we're as excited as we were because this pod of orcas had not been seen in 10 years.

By Rajat M |

Cruised Resurrection Bay on a 8 hour cruise. The scenery is breathtaking and we saw a lot of birds, humpback whales, seals and otters on our cruise to the Holgate and Aialik glaciers.

By Kathy E |

Enjoyed a two hour cruise out of Resurrection Bay on our way to our guided fishing spot. So beautiful and had fun watching the sea lions on the rocks.

By khorst5555 |

Within 10 minutes of being in Seward, we saw a humpback whale, sea lions, and otters in Resurrection Bay. The sun gleams off the snow on nearby mountain tops. Eagles fly overhead. It is definitely the “Alaskan” location I was hoping for.

By Kendra6340 |

Gorgeous in clouds or sunshine. Make sure you drive along the bay to Lowell point. We saw lots of sea lions on the drive and humpback whales both times just right off the road. It’s a beautiful drive with full views of the bay.

By FDinger |

I woke up my first morning in Seward and walked to the shore at the south end of town. The view of Resurrection Bay and the surrounding mountains is just incredible! Throughout my visit, I made similar walks to the shore just to soak up the views some more. I was also treated to some sea otter and bald eagle sitings from the shore, which only added to the experience. Later in my trip, I took a wildlife and glacier viewing boat trip in the Bay and beyond (reviewed separately under Major Marine Tours). It really is a spectacular place in this world.

By EnjoyingNC |

We took the 4 hour cruise which was supposed to depart at noon and were told to be there at 11 AM. Everyone was onboard ready to set sail at noon but the boat did not depart but waited for one guest who was late. This was a very poor way to start our cruise with many disgruntled passengers who did appear on time and were upset that the boat would delay for someone who was late.
However, the cruise went on when on everyone calmed down.
The scenery was lovely and narration informative but not overbearing. We saw whales and puffins and another variety of birds I can’t remember. We stopped at Fox Island for a buffet lunch which was a nice way to break up the cruise. It was relaxing, enjoyable, and comfortable. Be sure to wear a hat and windbreaker. We cruised on a gorgeous day in July and still needed our jackets and ski hats.

By TakeItEZR |

We went kayaking with Kayak Aventures Worldwide, Seward and took the Fox Island trip. The kayaking was great, BUT. There is a 1+ hour water taxi ride to and fro the place where you kayak. On a windy, cold day, it seems much longer. We had an excellent guide, Bobby, and had a great time kayaking in Kayaker's cove and other places. We saw, and stayed in contact with, at the appropriate distance, a whale, which was cool, as well as sea otters, seals and at least one sea lion who came up and bumped the bottom of our kayak just because he wanted to. The paddling is not arduous; the lunch spot, they provide lunch, was wet and rocky; but you're kind of soaked and cold and would be miserable if you hadn't dressed appropriately (I strongly recommend rain pants as well as jacket). So, beautiful scenery, not too tough a work out; the feel of an adventure. Go for it.

By luckyv |

Our family took a Kenai Fjords tour of Resurrection Bay. The scenery is awesome when out on the water. I would highly recommend taking a boat tour to immerse oneself in the beauty.

By Julie W |

Comfortable boat, with inside seating which was important on our rainy visit. Good drinks too! Narration was done well.

By MountainMama |

We saw harbor seals and Otters in the bay. We drove out to Lowell Point and visited the sea life center.

By Stuart Q |

We took a boat tour around the bay in the AM. The watery was calm. We saw eagles, harbor seals, steller sea lions and whales. The shoreline was picturesque. The captain did a good narration and did her best to find whales and other creatures. Definitely worthwhile trip.

By Susan M |

The waters were calm and the wildlife was abundant when we cruised through this bay. Well worth the money! Gorgeous views!!

By Rahul_4319 |

The snow covered mountains surrounding the Bay are picture perfect as per what the pictures show. This is nature at its best!.

By BonoAJ |

Take time and walk along the waterfront. You have an opportunity to see whales, sea otters and salmon fishing. The backdrop is just incredible with the water and mountains. One of my favorite places in Alaska!!

By snorkeldogs |

We were so excited to take this boat tour. Even though it was a light rain, it didn't take away from the beautiful scenery! We saw a pod of Orca whales! The boat slowed down so people could watch and take pictures. It was a very comfortable boat with 3 decks, 2 of them enclosed from the elements. We stayed on the top deck to get a full view. We also saw sea lions sunning on the rocks. It was a 4 hour tour.

By ACTOR_7 |

Amazing place with loads of wild life and calm waters. The scenery is what I call the "WOW" factor.
Even if you do not cruise through the bay walk around the Seward waterfront (the south part around the SeaLife center) and you will see beautiful views of the bay and its surroundings. If you have a car drive to Lowell Point or a bit furtehr south. Stunning!

By Deb W |

This is a gorgeous area. There is abundant wildlife. We saw humpback whales, bald eagles, seals, puffins, sea lions and an otter. Don’t miss this place.

By williamc640 |

Wonderful cruise and wildlife experience, viewed one hundred plus species of wildlife while cruising the bay and environs.

By meggie0214 |

Beautiful sights that only the eye can try to process. Beautiful day clear and smooth sailing Boat captain was informative. The many islands and mountains were awesome

By Tyna E |

I took a stroll along the coast line to the Alaska SeaLife Center. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I can see why campers/RVs fill this area. What a great weekend retreat.

By Departure824167 |

Loved this area, the cruise ships were not in harbor - a plus for me! Loved Major Marine cruise to see wild life, sea life and glaciers!

By EG54 |

Loved this place!!! Peaceful, gorgeous, lots of sea life & wondrous snow capped mountains. Don’t miss viewing if you are close by!

By AKChickatHeart |

If your in Seward, you must drive long the Bay to Lowell Point. Depending on the rain the road may be rough, but driving slow helps you enjoy the natural beauty of the Bay and the wildlife. Today, we saw an otter - which we named Emmett. A huge sea lion skirted the coast. We almost always see a bald eagle. If you need lodging, my first choice is Resurrection Lodge on the Bay! You will pay extra for a room with a view but you won't be sorry! Tell them DiDi (DyeDye) sent you.

By Jane S |

I walked along the waterfront daily during my stay at Seward and never tired of the beautiful views. Resurrection Bay is beautiful and worth seeing!

By LJohnson_11 |

We did the cruise on Resurrection Bay with Major Marine Tours. It was the best day ever with the orca whale sightings, birds, and the glaciers. What more could you want?

By BenjyBear |

Had a day trip out from Seward but was thick fog when we departed. Between that and the smoke from wildfires we didn't see anything on the way out but thankfully on the way back we had decent views of the bay and the surrounding islands

By tksheb |

We were in Seward for a fishing charter but had time to check out the bay before we went on the charter. What a beautiful city and bay to check out.

By mommatoad |

Great time snagging red off Spring Creek - best time to fish is two hours before high tide. Bring boots to cross streams and to wade out into the surf. If you fly in ask about paying extra for taking fish home on flight back - be sure to read what is required or you will not be allowed to take it home. Alaska Airlines has a good information on what to do. Its $25 for a 50 pound box of seafood. But be sure you use the correct packing boxes and label it as stated.

By Kenneth C |

There is much to see when you visit Resurrection Bay. We saw it as we traveled by car to Seward. We then fished all around the Bay for two days. So much beauty. Clear skies, when not raining, wildlife everywhere. Islands jutting up that made us feel we were in the movie Avatar.

By DiAnn M |

The fishing was terrific!. We used Alaska Dream Charters and enjoyed a great day n the water. We were treated with a visit from a sea otter and other wildlife. The scenery is magnificent.

By Rayx2mac |

If you want to see marine life in the wild this is the place to do it! There is quite a variety to see too. The water is so beautiful. Take a boat tour to see all that this bay has to offer.

By Rosetealady |

We keep coming back when we are here. The beauty is SO pristine and relaxing. Lots of wildlife here.

By RichVW |

Coastal Alaska offers "relief" in abundance with tons of snow meeting beautiful water. Ressurection Bay (and Seward) offer beauty, recreational opportunities, and serenity.

By Patricia K |

We stayed on Lowell Point and went out on a day of whale watching that took us the length of Resurrection Bay (separate reviews for lodging and boat trip). So glad we extended our cruise to visit this gorgeous place.

By bearmde |

This is the bay that is off of the tip of Seward Alaska. It is protected so it doesnt have the waves of the rest of the water and it is a great place to see all the marine wildlife.

By 1020bluestem |

Went with Kenai Fjords tour and saw 40-50 orcas in different pods, 5 + humpbacks, seals, sea lions, plenty of puffins and kittiwakes near Chiswell Islands - couldn't have asked for a better 8 hours (National Park Day tour) - highly recommend.

By NapiliR |

Beautiful Bay with variety of sea life. We saw both fin whales and humpback whales as well as sea lions, otters with pups, and puffins.

By Robin C |

Such a gorgeous place! Absolutely stunning and otters, sea lions, whales, puffins! Glaciers and blue skies. Amazing location! Long on the bucket list so glad we went!

By dreamweaver227 |

The views are spectacular from leaving the harbor to cruising into Resurrection Bay. The shoreline and islands are something out of National Geographic and teaming with wildlife. The first segment of the cruise was a section of the park where whales were feeding. We saw many Orca and Fin whales in the water and up close and personal.

By Pat C |

Resurrection Bay is beautiful! Our family camped on the waterfront, close by the children's playground. After a day of fishing and wildlife viewing, our grandchildren enjoyed playing at the park.

By 108glennc |

Resurrection bay was extremely beautiful, calm and full of marine wild life. Saw
humpback whales, seals, sea lions, Dall purpoise, puffins, and much more. Great place to see orcas when out and fishing too. Have to experience it to believe it. Keep the bay and Alaska beautiful, is all we ask.

By Tricia B |

We spent three days at the Bay and lived the view,

The Bay houses many sea life including otters and eagles.

Loved watching the boats/ships.

By Eternal Wanderer |

Resurrection Bay was one of the best parts of our trip to Alaska. There is a ton of wildlife in the area and the bay is surrounded by beautiful mountains. You feel very isolated from the world which just creates a great relaxing vibe and allows you to escape your worries. There are a ton of hikes and excursions in the area as well. Make sure to do a marine tour of the fjords, it's a must do and one of our favorites experiences in Alaska.

By Marie S |

From our boat we saw a humpback whale and a harbor seal. We took the boat to thumb cove and anchored for two nights. On shore there are fantastic trails. On e we took was to a beautiful waterfall that was magical and reminded me of a prehistoric forest with it's still pools and it's haunting rainforest.

There is also a 45-55 min. hike you can take to the nearby Glacier but it was rainy and we had not brought enough water with us that day. It really was beautiful but a cold and rainy day which made the boat and experience particular cold. I would love to try this again and reach the Glacier hiking.

There are public use cabins on shore as well that can be reserved in advance.

By PhillyFan2019 |

Fantastic experience for sightseeing, wildlife, whale watching and fishing. We visited Resurrection Bay twice while on a recent trip to Alaska.

By Benzboy06 |

Resurrection Bay is an absolutely amazing body of water. The views are spectacular and the wildlife is surreal. I recommend taking a day cruise so you can enjoy the full breadth of what the bay offers before heading out into deeper waters.

By Richard D |

I had the opportunity to see the bay from shore and from a ship. It is scenic, but compared to other Alaskan seascapes it is not all that remarkable.

By dbrush1958 |

We stayed at Resurrection Lodge on the Bay. Beautiful scenery, very pretty lodge. So relaxing! Breakfast included. We sat out on the deck and watched the salmon jump!

By Charlotte F |

Resurrection bay has so many beautiful coves, islands, waterfalls, wildlife it is incredible. We were there on an overcast day and some of our best pictures include the sun rays coming through the clouds. You really have to be on a watercraft away from the shore the scenery is breath taking. These are the environments that need protected for future generations!

By Erik H |

The city of Seward on Resurrection Bay has become my favorite place in the world. Beautiful sights and friendly people.

By Barbara S |

The tour on Resurrection Bay was nice. It was a hazy, off and on rainy day, but the trip was wonderful. Saw whales, sea lions, sea otters, puffins, and other varieties of birds. A beautiful place to see. Just wish the day had been nicer.

By Cory C |

Must see while in alaska so much history and wildlife. Glaciers, bald eagles, sea otters as well as kayaking is very popular here

By Trent B |

Want a world class experience? You've come to the right place! Fishing? Check. Sightseeing? Check. Birdwatching? Check. History Buff? Check.

By Bobby C |

Our first impression of Seward was a bit of a let down. Our hotel was not as expected and the view during the drive into town was gritty. Once we arrived at the Small Boat Harbor, we were greeted with jaw dropping beautiful, absolutely stunning views. The Bay is worth the trip to Seward alone.

By Rick C |

this was a excellent trip. good food and great staff on the ship. kid activities and wonderful views

By Larry D |

We have been to Seward twice. Each time it is like going to Sea World standing on the shore. Today we viewed a humpback whale and baby about 50 yards off shore. A group of about a done Sea Lions about the same distance and a pair of otters around 20 years away feeding. There were several eagles flying over enjoying the show too.

By Becki C |

The bay has lots of great sea life like harbor seals, sea otters, purpoise, whales, etc. It's a beautiful place to visit and get great pics.

By Anette12345 |

We took a walk along the beach and harbor and watched the sea otters swim, feed and play in the sea! It was fabulous! You can also go on different cruises which we didn't have time for unfortunately.

By Annette M |

Stayed in a cabin from Angles Rest . The view was spectacular! Water front and snow capped mountains were a site to behold. One of the best vacations ever! Plus, the scenic drive from Anchorage was awesome!

By April Wheeler Ruhland |

Had a view of the Bay whenever cruising around Seward. Great view from SeaLife Center & even better from a Kenai Fjords boat tour!

By wrigh753 |

I would highly recommend doing a kayak tour of the bay. We had a wonderful experience kayaking with the company, Kayak Adventures Worldwide. We did a full day of kayaking around Fox Island with a guide and saw tons of wildlife: a whale, porpoises, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, sea stars, jellyfish, and waterfowl. The views are also amazing, with mountains in the distance and colorful towering coves all around the island.

By jstock |

A person can sit a the shore and watch the boats come and go and see some wildlife or you can take a cruise to go further out and see more things. It is a beautiful area to take in the sights.

By swanfamily2908 |

incredible views of the area and some sea life, if they will show. our captain, a south african on the nunatuk was very amusing! NOTE: don't buy the drinks mugs in advance. we bought FOUR before boarding and there was NEVER any HOT water. so, because we ATTEMPTED to make cooca and cider (these are just packets like you are camping) and they were 'used' we weren't able to get a refund. the worst $40 I spent on our entire trip in alaska. otherwise, this is a lovely 4 hour boat trip!

By hjensen90 |

A beautiful place to be, wonderful sites and places to explore. We saw whales, sea lions, otters and more. Loved it

By Amy C |

Highly suggest booking a kayaking trip with sunny cove. Morning is best as sealife is most active. Beautiful scenery.

By chrislewis2016 |

This is one of the highlights of Seward!
It is a beautiful boat ride. Look for the excursion that stops at Fox Island!

By JMM |

This was part of our Cruise when we visited Alaska. We enjoyed whale watching and different species of birds along Resurrection Bay. Will definitely recommend going to this place. Hope this helps

Came in by train and loved the views and serenity of the area. Make sure you see the true Mile 0 of the Iditarod trail, which is now a race.

We left from Seward, where our ship was docked in Resurrection Bay. It was unusual weather for September as the skies were perfectly clear and the weather warmer than usual, which made for some wonderful vistas of the bay, the mountains surrounding it and the city of Seward. Sailing out from the bay, afforded us many wonderful views along the way. Just a gorgeous area of Alaska.

By jtj483 |

Unfortunately, I believe we came at the wrong time of year. We only saw a few bald eagles, puffins, and a seal. And it was cold and rainy the entire trip, so we could not see the tops of the mountains. We stayed inside the cabin, as the wind and rain was too much for us on the deck. Perhaps a different time of year would be a totally different experience. I’d suggest you check before booking about the timing of whales in the bay....or whatever wildlife you hope to see. We did not buy the dinner offered. It looked ok, but you are allowed to bring your own food, and they offer snack food for sale. Both a better value than the prime rib and salmon meal.

Brilliant day tour on this small boat with 7 other travellers.
Calley our guide and Tanya the captain were excellent in the way they looked after all our needs throughout the long day.
Calley really knows her stuff and answered every question asked with knowledge and a little humour.
Tanya really worked hard to make sure we saw as much wildlife as possible.
She took the boat really close to the Holgate glacier, while Calley scooped ice onto the boat( bet their cocktails are ace.....)
Highly recomend this Co and tour.

Resurrection Bay is where the city of Seward started way back when, and it is a sight to behold. We took one of the boat tours from Seward that went out of Resurrection Bay and into the Kenai Fjords national park. The bay is surrounded by a variety of glaciers, not to mention other vistas and wildlife.

By luv2ride |

If in Seward, a small boat trip through Resurrection Bay is a must!

Once away from Seward, the awesomeness of this area surrounds you. It was as if we were the only people in the area and were able to enjoy the majesty and peace of exploring an untouched world. There was very little signs of human encroachment. We saw whales fishing, birds flying paddling and nesting, seals and sea lions loafing on shore. Beautiful islands, delicate waterfalls, distant ( and not so) snow capped mountains and towering glaciers.

Breathtaking!

I wanted to go back again the next day. Alas it’s not a cheap outing and in 3 days, there’s only so much time to see and experience all the bounty of Alaska’s nature. However a return to Alaska WILL include another trip down to Resurrection Bay and the Kenai.

By Ktrammell1 |

Resurrection Bay is a stunningly beautiful place. View the bay from shore at the Seward Small Boat Harbor. If you have a car, you can also drive around a portion of the bay. I would recommend taking either a wildlfe/glacier tour or a fishing trip and then you can view the bay in more detail from the water. Be on the lookout for wildlife including sea gulls, otters, sea lions, whales, seals, puffins, eagles and a wide variety of other birds.

By Karen M |

Resurrection Bay is a beautiful place to be. There’s always a boat coming in or going out, playful seals and people hanging out. A nice walk any time of day or evening!

By jocomitchells |

this is the gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park. Seward is here with a harbor and a cruise ship dock. But the mountains on both side of the bay combined with the waterfront harbor city of Seward is what will grab your attention.

By andi b |

There isn't a lot to do around there, but, we did get to see a humpback whale in the bay with a bald eagle just sitting there. It was quite Alaska. It's a place we could sit and just hang out all afternoon on a nice day.

By Bob S |

Wonderful scenic area ! It's easy to just sit and look out at the bay. We are from Florida and see nothing as beautiful as seen up here !
Pretty hard to miss if your in Seward but a must not miss ! Be sure you have your camera ready !

By P J |

This place is a special location well worth a couple nights at least. Stayed at Resurrection Lodge on the Bay, a short drive (2 mile) drive from Seward. Well worth being out of town on a secluded beach. Lot's of charter boat activity from Seward.

By susansmix |

We cruised Resurrection Bay with Major Cruises. Our captain and tour guide was Kaylee and she was excellent in all ways. She could maneuver the boat next to cliffs or a sea otter or send us rapidly across open water. She knew her wildlife and it was a very good learning experience. We had two little ones with us (who slept most of the way) so we took the shorter three-hour cruise. I highly recommend it. I understand the 6-hour cruise includes a delicious buffet. Major does a fine job.

By MeryMeCo |

We took the Kenai Fjords boat trip and it was outstanding. Birds and wild life. We saw two sets of killer whales, sea otters, and puffins. Great tour with lunch provided. Seas were rough but no one was sick.

By Ryan D K |

Awesome area with lots to see. Abundant wildlife. Fishing is great. Whales are everywhere. Glaciers galore! I highly recommend this area.

By Becky G |

Beautiful area. We took a whale watching tour and saw humpbacks and orcas, plus sealions, otters and eagles. Amazing area and well worth the trip!

By favor38s |

This review is of Resurrection Bay/Fox Island cruise from Seward Harbor. I suggest taking a coat as it was chilly when not inside the tour boat cabin. Keep your camera handy as great shots appear at any moment. Prepare to see whales, a variety of birds, mountains, and glaciers,,just beauty everywhere. This is a MUST tour

By Marti W |

Lots of whales, sea otters, puffins, eagles, etc. Great boat tour though the bay going to the glaciers and viewing a glimpse of the Harding Ice Field. Stay at or kayak around Fox Island. You will love it.

By michel |

Beautiful scenery and great for a long walk along the coast. We sat by the rocky beach and watched a humpback whale for about an hour - spectacular! We also saw some otters and could hear them eating on their tummies. We didn’t take a boat, but still had an unforgettable time.

By Emile R |

The four hour cruise on a comfortable, seaworthy yacht affords one wonderful scenic views. This is a must see event which you won't regret.

By TennisStar602 |

I walked around Resurrection Bay on the promenade for a good hour. The views of the snowy mountains are amazing! You will always see many fishermen and ships. There are shops and restaurants on the main street; free parking on the street is ample.

By dtaust19405 |

We went on a boat tour around resurrection bay, it was lovely scenery lots of wildlife definitely worth a visit.

By Paul R |

I traversed this bay as part of a longer boat tour. There was one particular area where clouds were crawling over a peak towards the water that was absolutely stunning. To top off that cloud affect, humpbacks were jumping right at the base. Well worth visiting.

By Stefanie H |

The scenery here is just gorgeous! You can walk right along the water, and you can't beat the views. We saw eagles, sea otters, and so many other birds. There are campsites right on the waterfront for RV's and tents, and there are also benches along the way so you can sit for a while.

By John S |

Lots of photo opportunity depending on the light conditions. We were there to fish. Stream charters require a long drive and Halibut Charters a long boat ride into the Gulf of Alaska. People do snag salmon locally.

By Lynn Y |

The views even just from the waterfront park in Seward are unreal. The majestic snow capped mountains and all of the sea life viewable from the bank is awesome. Go to the aquatic center in Seward too so you can get up close to lots of these animals. Well worth the visit.

By sabie101 |

Alaska is certainly the most beautiful state of the 50! The drive into the Resurrection Bay area affords so many spectacular views. We saw moose, dall sheep, sea otters, bald eagles, and so much more! Our family recommends taking your time here and enjoying all that the area has to offer.

By cml101 |

We took the four-hour Major Marine Tour to view gray whales, no whales but lots of other wildlife. The captain was very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. The assistants on the boat were very helpful too. I liked boat as it had tables with cushioned seats. You could ride inside or outside. The boat was clean. I would recommend this tour.

By Susannah W |

I went for a glacier tour, and Resurrection Bay was a pristine blue, that made you want to sail out to forever...

By mafischl |

Resurrection Bay is one of the most beautiful bodies of water I have ever seen. Definitely take a cruise around the bay. We took the one aimed at seeing sea life and were thrilled with it.

By KimK0714 |

If you have to choose between Seward AK and Homer AK go to Seward. Very Beautiful, lots of activities.

By marley1_10 |

We had a rental car and we were able to drive along the bay to watch the sea otters, eagles and much more! Be sure to take the drive behind the Sealife Center.

By Lisa J |

Beautiful town, good RV parking. Would have loved to stay longer - beautiful views and pretty town with lovely atmosphere. Easy roads in, even with huge RV. No problem parking anywhere.

By SoCalAdventureSeeker |

What a great place to experience wildlife, glaciers, and scenic Alaska. Lots of coves, cliffs, and open water filled with otters, orcas, seals, sea lions. Birds. And of course fish. Add this to you list if you like those things. There are several tour options based out of Seward.

By April G |

We used Sunny Cove for our kayak trip on Resurrection Bay - and it was an unforgettable experience. We were so happy with the choice - as the guides were professional, wonderful and warm - and the trip was outstanding.

By Laurie B |

Beautiful drive all the way through from Wasilla but especially gorgeous when you reach town. The hill that the Ironman ran is ran on was pointed out to me and we had a beautiful view of the harbor from the parking lot. We had good food at Zudys and enjoyed our drive through the town.

By Travelbug56565 |

We stayed in Seward and really enjoyed this little town. The bay front stretches the length of the town and the vistas were amazing at every time of day.

By Flyingypsy |

Good place to learn about and enjoy an up close encounter Alaska Sea life. Understand the efforts being made to keep our wildlife safe and what you can do about it. Don't miss viewing the head of Reserrection Bay (serene)... highlights were seeing feeding of the sea lion and aviary. Enjoy!!!

By Estelle O |

The Bay was stunningly beautiful the day we did the Kenai Fjords cruise, but we were told the weather was unusual for September. Be prepared for overcast skies, but don't let that stop you from going. The scenery is breath-taking, and the sealife abundant. We saw a pod of orcas, porpoises, puffins, seals, sea lions, and one humpback whale. The glacier was very impressive, though it didn't calve while we were there. The food aboard the catamaran that takes you on the cruise was magnificent and plentiful. We did the six-hour cruise and that was just about the right amount of time. There are both shorter and longer cruises offered.

By Maciek S |

Indeed. Go and see yourself. Amazing. Close to town, a must to go when you are in Seward. And the eagles and other birds fly above you. Very cool!

By allforoneoneforall |

Resurrection Bay is just so picturesque...you feel ike you're immersed in a postcard! Even in June, the mountains were covered in snow and you could see glaciers while on the boat tour, not to mention puffins, seals and spouting humpback whales! Well worth taking a boat touur (we did a half day tour, which was plenty)

By Ashley S |

I love being able to see sea otters and hear whales from shore! Much of the iconic wildlife around Seward (orcas, humpbacks, sea otters, etc) can be seen from shore if you're lucky. Otherwise, the cruises off of Resurrection Bay will allow you to see wildlife and the gorgeous glaciers around the area.

By Robert C |

We've been to Seward three times and always enjoy the bay. The kids walking along the shoreline skipping rocks and watching out for the seals, puffins, and otters that come quite close to shore.

By gleonhard |

We took a whole day 6 hr cruise from Resurrection Bay to Aialik Bay. We saw Bald Eagles, Dahl's porpoise, Fin whale, Sea otter, pod of Orcas, Stellers Sea lions and several shore birds. Then we got within 1/4 mile from Hogate glacier. We saw several other glaciers, but from a considerable distance. The cruise was made even more interesting as we had a park ranger with us who gave us a running narrative of what we were seeing along the way and some history of the area.

By Karyn S |

Whether you're on a boat, the docks or just wandering along the bay you will feel the wonder. We would just sit (even a 9-yr-old) and watch for otters and harbor seals to pop up. Just a wonderful place.

By David J |

Have been to Seward and Resurrection Bay several times but this time in winter. Lots to do even in winter although boating is not recommended.

By NaniOf6 |

These views have been my favorite so far! Get your cameras ready because you will want to capture the beauty here. You don't have to be a great photographer...you just need to point and shoot! You can't take a bad picture here!

By Kayt |

Resurrection bay is so beautiful and serene. Our bed and breakfast overlooked the bay and we just couldn't get enough of it

By Dutch Brother |

This is a beautiful bay. Try to get out on the water if you have time. You will travel through the bay if you take the cruise to Kenai Fjords National Park.

By Jeff |

We've been to about 25 national parks and I am hard-pressed to come up with more beautiful scenery. In addition to the mountains, glaciers and fauna, we saw mountain goats, whales, porposes, sea birds, sea lions and seals.

By Vermonters210 |

We saw Resurrection Bay from many vantage points during our week-long stay in Seward. We walked along it on the Historic Iditarod Trail - beautiful! We took a boat tour on it to Northwestern Glacier with Kenai Fjords Tours - spectacular! We sea kayaked on it with Adventure 60 North - awesome! We hiked above it and down to it on Tonsina Creek Trail. We sat in our car one sunny but windy day and watched humpback whales lunge-feeding - unbelievable! Surrounded by snow-covered mountains, it is a magnificent sight to see.

By Kekelley528 |

We stayed right on Resurrection Bay in a lodge. Coffee every morning with a fantastic view could not be beat! From our patio we saw whales, otters, and sea lions!
Definitely recommend time with a view!

By goodwineandtravel |

Took a boat trip through the bay on our way to a lodge. Saw many whales and porpoises, along with a sea otter. The scenery along the shoreline was spectacular !!

By J0pablo |

Resurrection Bay has stunning views all around. Seward Alaska is a charming, friendly and extremely welcoming community. There is plenty to see in the bay from sea lions, seals, otters and American eagles.

By Donald E |

A great place on bay on Southern coast. The town was easy to walk around & explore. People very friendly & views awesome !

By Leonard W |

We took a charter fishing trip out in the Gulf of Alaska. To bet there we passed the entire length of Resurrection Bay. The views are unbelievable.

By Heyer Family |

Our family took a marine tour of Resurrection Bay with Major Marine Tours - it was stunning - from landscapes and glaciers to puffins, whales, sea otters, and seals. Staff were excellent, informative and professional and most of all - fun.

By FS11F |

Beautiful Seward Bay, surrounded by mountains and with many stories.
I didn't forget to take the trails that surround it, and a boat trip is highly recommended.

By Debby B |

We camped in the Resurrection Campground right on the bay. We stayed there 2 days and spent a good bit of our time watching otters and fishermen and boats coming in and out. We walked along the shore and saw people from Alaska but also from all around the US and from other countries as well. Everyone just trying to take it all in. Amazing!

By Archie |

This place has such incredible views. We visited by boat but also saw it from at the sea life center. The rocks form its own island and the water green and sometimes blue. There are so many photo opportunities. The mountains make an amazing backdrop.

By DrJim2 |

We experienced this location during a 7 hour wildlife cruise with MMT tours. The wildlife viewing and scenery are some of the best we've ever experienced. Highly recommend the tour

By stephbevan |

We have taken 4 different boat trips out into the Bay. All of the trips were wonderful with new discoveries each time. We have seen wildlife on each trip; a variety each time. Weather out on the Bay is always colder than on shore. We have always needed layers of clothes and mittens and hats if out on the deck for pictures. Also, be prepared for water spray or mist or rain. Will go out in the Bay with each visit!

By Maurene_K |

We had upgraded our Holland America cruise on the Noordam to include a 10-hour daytrip that included a 6-hour cruise with lunch aboard a 95-foot Kenai Fjords Tours ship Glacier Explorer for a tour of Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park.
We left from Seward Boat Harbor which is on the bay.

During the first hour, we cruised Resurrection Bay. Even in the rain, it was scenic. The snow-dusted Chugach Mountains served as a backdrop.

Unfortunately, we got only about two nautical miles out of Resurrection Bay and into Kenai Fjords National Park when our ship had a fire in one of its twin engines, and we had to return to port. But, we did get to see all of Resurrection Bay that was scheduled for our tour. On a nice day, I’m sure it’s spectacular.

On our early morning excursion, we did not see any wildlife.

For sailors, Seward Boat Harbor has a full-service marina.

We rate Resurrection Bay at 5.0.

My14 year old daughter and I were visiting the Sea Life Center and went outside to the observation deck overlooking Resurrection Bay. The mountains mirrored in the water were really beautiful. We stood there a few minutes and observed some seals fairly close by. You can easily enjoy it without going to the Sea Life Center as well, there is a park with benches and also restaurants nearby. Highly recommend!

By DebbieVerde |

This is an absolutely beautiful area! If you are visiting Alaska, Seward is a must! Resurrection bay is quite a beauty with its mountains so green, dropping to the ocean!

By Kim_F_CA |

Such a beautiful area with breathtaking scenery all along the Seward waterfront. Fishing and sight-seeing tours are abundant. Great views from near or on the second floor of the SeaLife Aquarium.

By Randell N |

Although the boat tours don't make guarantees, we saw significant wildlife and interesting geology on our trip. We recommend the Major Marine cruises with their National Park ranger commentary.

By Manny B |

There is a nice path along the bay which you can follow from downtown Seward to the boat harbor. There are many scenic snowcapped mountains in the distance. We did not see them the day we arrived as the weather was very rainy and foggy. If you get a clear day, consider yourself fortunate.

By AMLAberdeen_Scotland |

I don't know whether we were just lucky but we sat foe ages watching a couple of hump back whales feeding close to Seward. The otters and seals were also keeping us entertained. We drove both sides of the bay and although you can't go far it was lovely. We didn't take any boat trips further out.

By TAMAN1951 |

Great start to a wildlife viewing experience.

Scenery is spectacular.

Very relaxing and a great way to spend the afternoon.

Vessel was great and very impressive adventure.

By Jerry S |

Great to watch the tides come in and out. How large this bay is and how empty the bay is at low tide.

By Danuza |

Exactly as I said- a mirror of heaven! Beautiful bay with stunning views of mountain and water! Sea life and birds are a plus! Everywhere you look is a great picture!

By HBtravelor |

We really enjoyed the Resurrection Bay Wildlife tour. Well worth the time and money. The captain and crew were excellent, great customer service.

By AKCougar |

Went there again for a fishing charter, and just walking the beach saw and talked with Eagles, walked with Sea otters just yards away

By Kristin D |

Seward is pretty sleepy in January, but the bay was teaming with wildlife and awesome scenic vistas. Also some great WWII bunkers and history.

By Eric St-Pierre |

We took a cruise in the Resurrection Bay and the views were amazing. Plenty of animals, whales, otters, sea lions, etc.

By Cape-SoCal |

Just magnificent. When you have toured Alaska for the last 9 days and see such magnificent sights it makes you realize how insignificant we are are in the grand scheme of things. We much take care of nature. Sometimes the most insignificant things can have the biggest impact.

By ROCruiser |

We walked the trail between the Seward Harbor and Sealife Center. Absolutely beautiful wherever you look. The bay, the snow-capped mountains, parks and campgrounds all sit beautifully along the path. This is a must do if there is no mobility issue instead of taking the shuttles.

By Lori R |

This was a great tour, even though we only saw a few whales. We did see sea otters, sea lions, porpoises, and eagles so it's definitely worth taking.

I only had one complaint: the captain would often say, "if you go to the starboard side...". What's that? I've never been around boats! Tell me left or right. :).

Take the cruise. Remember that starboard is on the right (think, "if I'm RIGHT I get a STAR) and see the beauty of this area!

By Roger S |

My wife and I RV'd right next to the Bay just this August. Seward always delights with its beautiful scenery. There are many spots for RV's including full hook-ups. Go to Seward and relax by the beautiful Resurrection Bay!

By karensSouthernIN |

Unfortunately the weather was very overcast and rainy while we were in Seward, so we did not see Resurrection Bay at its best. It is a beautiful place though and I can only imagine what it's like with blue skies and sunshine. We parked our RV in a campground on the bay and enjoyed the views. We enjoyed walking on the waterfront as well. Cute town-Worth a visit!

By snorkelinghoosier |

Took the train from Anchorage to Seward, then cruised out via the bay. Amazing vistas all around. Recommend to anyone considering Alaska.

By treeface |

On a boat from Seward to Fox Island on Resurrection Bay, we saw so many puffins, bald eagles, sea lions, otters and even a humpback whale that tagged alongside our boat, that I was thrilled beyond measure. This area of Alaska is beautiful. It leaves behind the gray glacial waters and starkness of Denali. The Bay has beautiful blue water and great scenery with lovely trees and abundant sea life. A "must see."

By Stephanie H. |

The boat ride into Resurrection Bay was beautiful! We saw a whale, seals, Puffin birds and otters. Part of the scenery was like nothing I've seen...amazing!

By Peter W |

We did the bay via the Kenai Fjords tour. The bay is stunning with the mountains literally rising from the sea!

By Katie T |

One of the most beautiful places I've been. Whether the water is calm or choppy, the bay is incredible and easily accessible.

By king422 |

The whales where in the bay and could be seen from shore! A photographer and a fisherman's Dram come true.

By Edward H |

We fished successfully for silver salmon in the bay off of Fox Island but, that was the side bar to a truly magnificent scenic tour of a very special place on earth.

By glipham |

We took a boat out on to the Bay and it was so beautiful and so peaceful. We saw a couple of whales, seals were all over the rocky coastline and if you looked hard enough you could find sheep up on the rocks on the mountains. It was a fun adventure and should not be missed.

By Cajunexplorers |

Take the time when you're in Alaska to see this gem. The scenery is something to see and you will likely also see wildlife.

By fishoutofwater47 |

We were supposed to go out on a glacier cruise to Kenai Fjords park, but the sea was too rough so we ended up staying in Resurrection Bay. Even though it was drizzly and rainy, it was still beautiful and we saw whales, sea lions, seals, otters, eagles and many sea birds! I was so glad that we did that boat trip!

By wildlifeship |

The bay was calm compared to out side the bay. Plenty of wildlife in the bay and the view is awesome with mountains all around.

By Shaine S |

We kayaked this beauty and if the clouds are cooperative, the mountains make for the most majestic views! The bay is home to eagles, sea birds, orcas, and porpoises, and you might see salmon running or returning to the sea after. Incdredibly scenic.

By George818 |

Just love it here in Seward. The scenery is second to none and the air is so fresh. Felt so peaceful out here. Fishing. Hanging out. Walking around.

By gr8ful4222 |

We walked along the shores of this beautiful bay, and it’s amazing what wildlife you can see here even from land. During our three days in Seward we saw a bald eagle in one of the trees nearby, a couple of otters playing near the shore, and at least three humpback whales coming up for air. Truly an amazing place.

By mikealexander728 |

this is a spectacular bay, with mountains all around. one can view glaciers, mountains, and wide expanse of water. as one travels by boat down the bay ( about 30 minute trip via charter) there is wild life- seals on rocks, mountain goats, orca whales, many birds. it goes right past a huge wall of many kinds of nesting birds. good fishing also, in the bay. wonderful scenery.

By Mallory M |

Getting to the bay is a little tough but we had to come here to start our Kayak trip - it was great! Mostly because you can access the rest of the park from here.

However, I would advise not just staying in the bay - while beautiful, the most gorgeous part of the park is further out from the bay.

By Lori H |

The mountains are just aww inspiring. The wildlife were fun to watch. So many things you could do at the bay. Watch the sealife, rent a boat for fishing, kayaking. Or just sit and watch the views

By Placid Barry |

We camped for a couple nights at a place that was maybe called Resurrection Campground...or Seward RV Park. (Are they the same?) Regardless, we were greeted by bald eagles every morning. Hot showers cost $2 for 10 minutes...and I realized after doing this that I must never take 10-minute showers. It seemed to last forever. Good wet hook-ups and conveniently located to Seward.

By Leslie S |

It's beautiful in the summer and just as awesome in the winter! Such a peaceful and relaxing bay. Lots of wildlife can be seen all around!

By mustangjeanne |

The bay and the surrounding area was just jaw dropping. When I arrived, you could see in every direction. But then the smoke moved in and the views disappeared.

By Annette I |

We enjoyed our visit and saw whales, eagles, sea lions, and more. Beautiful just beautiful area. This is a good destination for all ages

By DorisS175 |

So much to see here, and many camping spots along the bay. Better weather would have been nice, but we had a lovely sunrise the last day we were here. This is where a few of the cruise companies arrive from Van Couver and Seattle, so those are a great way to get here besides the bus we took from Anchorage.

By Nicola C |

We were unsure of whether to stay so long in Seward but we were really glad we did. 3 nights at resurrection bay campsite was great - no issue with the electric or water hookups and people were super friendly and helpful.

By DadandCab |

The bay is a great spot for just about everything - fishing, wildlife spotting, kayaking, glacier viewing or just sitting & enjoying the view. This is what Seward is all about. Come and enjoy.

By Shubh K |

Serene, enchanting, majestic, grand, awe-inspiring. Look up any of these words and a picture of Resurrection Bay will appear.

By Diana R |

Went for the glaciers but the entire 6 hr tour trip was very enjoyable. Resurrection bay is so beautiful i can see why people live in Seward to be close to this natural space. Rock formations and all the wildlife among them were fascinating to watch. Worth the time!

By David P |

Resurrection Bay is a gorgeous setting with the opportunity to enjoy it from the coastal trail, bounding the waves in a boat or flying overhead in a helicopter. Mountains, glaciers and wildlife doesn't get much better.

By midwaytoheaven |

We absolutely loved our stay in Seward and enjoyed boating thru Resurrection Bay several times during our stay. The bay is deceivingly quite large once you are on the water. From the Seward's small boat harbor or along the bay in town, you can get great photos of the snow capped mountains and bay.

BOTTOM LINE: Resurrection Bay is best viewed from a tour boat or fishing boat to really appreciate its beauty. The views are picture perfect. I recommend chartering a fishing tour while here. Once you have fished for salmon here and hook one up you will be hooked on fishing, especially if you get a king salmon! MUST SEE. Oh my! MY RATING: 9/10.

By reitj |

Go. Take a boat tour. You can do this alone and never even go on a cruise boat! We did the 6 hour national park boat tour and it was well worth the visit!

By 5moreminutes |

Best views of the Bay are from the Jeep trail up Mt. Marathon = be sure to look behind you as you work your way up the bench to the higher elevations. Also, a short stroll south from the Sealife Center towards Lowell Point offer easy access and good views

By pearsondesigns |

I went to Alaska for the first time in 2019, got a rental and drove to Seward from Anchorage. I fell in love that night at 9:00 pm when I saw the Bay for the first time. The stay in Seward was the best with the tour to Fox Island and Alaska Sealife Center. But, when I wanted to just be a part of Alaska, it was the walk and quiet time on Resurrection Bay that left a permanent desire to return... and I did September 2019 and yes I cried when I saw my mountain range and the Bay. Stayed 3 days this time!

By Ginny R |

We drove around Resurrection Bay from Ankorage to Seward. Heading south the tide was coming in and it was facinating to watch. 2 days later we came back the same route and the tide was receding. The tidal bore is really interesting. We did miss seeing the surfers trying their luck!

By Steve5863 |

Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, 18 miles (29k) long but less than 5 miles (8k) wide, and up to 972 feet (296m) deep, the pristine waters of beautiful Resurrection Bay are well protected and generally calm making it an ideal location for both humans and wildlife to shelter from the Alaskan coastal weather that can be severe at times.

Taking advantage of this beautiful, protected bay, the harbor city of Seward is located at the tip of the bay where visitors can charter productive fishing trips, guided boat tours to see glaciers and abundant wildlife, or even rent kayaks to paddle the protected waters.

A boat tour of Resurrection Bay in the summer months, one is almost certain to be able observe sea otters, bald eagles, Steller sea lions, harbor seals, puffins, murres, kittiwakes and other seabirds as well as having an excellent chance of seeing humpback whales.

By MamaBug |

We rented an RV and came down to Resurrection Bay for a couple nights. We were not disappointed! What a fantastic place to hang out. Friendly people, gorgeous views, eagles! A local even brought us fresh-caught salmon to roast over our fire! We loved it so much we stayed an extra night.

By wysiwyg2015 |

If you go to Alaska, you don't want to miss a trip to Seward to see the beautiful Resurrection Bay! Be sure to take a boat tour into the Kenai Fjords and visit the Alaska Sea life Center.

By Sonworshipper |

Took a boat tour on the bay. Saw a few otters, orcas and humpbacks but none of them gave us very good views. Even the shore & birds were fleeting and the incoming fog definitely diminished our visibility...a typcial occurance in these parts, I guess. Whales were elusive...not like the great whale watching experience we had in Cape Cod several years ago. We did see lots of seals & sea lions on the rocks but would have like to get a bit closer view. All in all, was a nice place but not the best wildlife viewing ever.

By Nigel H |

Resurrection Bay reminded me very much of Doubtful Sound in New Zealand with the snow topped mountains around. We were very lucky and the sea was as placid as it could be, so the area was one of total calmness and a feeling of isolation and being well away from hustle and bustle of daily life.

Resurrection bay was extremely beautiful, calm and full of marine wild life. Saw humpback whales, seals, sea lions, Dall purpoise, puffins, and much more. Great place to see orcas when out and fishing too. Have to experience it to believe it. Keep the bay and Alaska beautiful, is all we ask.

By Rob H |

It was such a peaceful piece of water that is mostly untouched by humans so you can see what ocean habitats were like tens of thousands of years ago when glaciers carved this area into what it is today. Sea life is abundant so have your camera ready

By Sue A |

We were with a group and enjoyed the whole experience. The captain allowed time to view sea otters, whales, glaciers and narrated facts that were very informative. Rebecca and other deck hands were extremely pleasant to interact with. I would highly recommend this outing if you visit the area!

The silvers were late this year in the Resurrection Bay area by Seward but that being said, it's a great spot to experience Alaska as a family. Cruise ships leave from there, the Alaskan Railroad runs day trips between there and Anchorage and there is plenty to experience even if you don't take a fishing charter out. Seward is an interesting town and worth experiencing. And the ride down to it is a beauty!

By santamonica2006 |

Seward is located in this bay and the views are amazing. The snowy mountains, the blue waters and the wild life all come together to amaze you!

By Flashcow1997 |

Definitely worth taking a tour/cruise. You should see lots of wildlife (whales of all kinds, puffins, sea otters cracking clams, sea lions, etc.) depending on the time of year. It gets cold near the glaciers so bundle up like Kenny from South Park and enjoy the views!

By CarolOrlando |

Great to get so close to a glacier and see how far it goes back into the mountains. Stunning views. Seen from the comfort of our tour boat, with options to be outside.

By Chris M |

This bay made our trip amazing!! Whales, otters and fishermen and many halibut. Enjoyed going to the. Docks at night to see the catch come in!

By Rahn T |

You won't believe all the wonderful wildlife that you'll see in Resurrection Bay. Take a tour boat, kayak, or just seen from the beach, it's always an amazing experience.
Enjoy!

By Shannon |

I would have liked to never leave, it's breathtaking! Bring binoculars and lots of time to enjoy the area.

By Guillaume |

This bay is fantastic, really beautiful.
We did few miles hikes along the bay/beach, and the view was awesome.

By Camille Z |

It would be a shame to visit Alaska by cruise ship, train, or car and not visit Seward. The bay is beautiful and taking a cruise through the bay and even further out is not to be missed.

By justoutside |

I have been back twice. I have stayed in Seward twice just to be on Resurrection Bay. It's just awe inspiring. You can stand there all day and look at it. You need to kayak in it (Kayak Adventure Tours).

Just go.

By fqtravellernd |

Such a scenic place to be in... so peaceful and tranquil.. we can literally sit and stare the whole day, not doing anything... love it!

By wetakethetrips |

This tour is simply stunning. The scenery and wildlife are all you hope for when you go to Alaska. We saw humpback whales, puffins, dolphins, sea lions & eagles against the backdrop of this beautiful national park! The boat moves quickly and you can be out on the deck for the entire ride, unlike other tours, but the ride is smooth and no one got sick. The lunch on Fox Island was a fun stop and was included in the tour price. There is also free parking. You only see one glacier from a distance but that isn't the focus of this trip--plan another cruise to see glaciers but do this one for the spectacular views of the bay!!!

By BettyABo |

We camped at Alice Campground along Resurrection Bay. No showers or electric, but a wonderful view and great location to the Harbor.

By darthdes |

The only way to experience and see it is by a cruise tour. I went by Kenai Fjords Tours. You can view some of it by driving along the shore but that is not the true experience. Must see it by sea.

By Amanda3820 |

I would live in Seward just to be by this Bay. Absolutely stunning, calm waters that bring a slight chill to the air. Highly recommend going to see this!

By Jane S |

This was a great trip! We saw all the animals that are advertised - but most of it was with binoculars, We were expecting to see the animals as seen in the brochures, but you never get that close to them. The buffet was great - truly all you can eat and delicious. The scenery is amazing, and the on-board ranger full of information and friendly. The staff on the boat were all very helpful.

We spent three nights camped in the Waterfront Park, camping lot. It is right on the water with amazing views.
Resurrection Bay is a popular camping spot for Alaskans.....as 80% of the campers and cars we saw were Alaskan. Salmon were constantly jumpi g out of the water, people were fishing, boats were coming and going, and laughter was in the air!
It rains a lot in this area, this time of year, but we had one day that was simply perfect, and we walked the town, and ate salmon at one of the local restaurants, and people watched.
Seward is a quaint little town.

By LoveMahaulepu |

Beautiful snow capped, cloud-loved mountains. Lots of ships of various sizes and types - cruise ship, fishing vessels, tours boats going back and forth from the harbor.

By jjp76 |

Have to go to get a cruise, go fishing, see fish come in, eat, sightsee, shop, walk around, take a glacier cruise. Very interesting picturesque place. The end of the road with a lot of history, and if you research it you know what your seeing and know what you can do.
Seems a lot of people, men, come here to go fishing! Couples and families come to go on a glacier cruise. Great time for all.

By RachBonifacio |

By far the best scenery I've seen in the entire world. Snow capped mountains all around you, water, sea creatures, birds, rock formations -- don't miss out on taking even the shortest cruise!

By Michael W |

What a lovely place this is in Seward. Lots going on the water but we just really enjoyed sitting in the Waterfront Park, watching the fish jump with a couple of drinks (us, not the fish) for a couple of hours. It helped that the weather was beautiful, which unfortunately isn’t always the case.

By Karen W |

Leaving Seaward and cruising out through Resurrection Bay was truly tranquil.
Running out past the Kenai mountains Mt. Marathon rising steeply behind the town of Seward.
Resurrection Bay is great for photo shots. Leaving Resurrection Bay into the Golf of Alaska was truly fabulous scenery and views.

By WK50 |

I've done multiple trips to this area and never tire of the views on a boat trip into the bay no matter the weather.

By Jonathan M |

This is a very beautiful inlet that we saw when we did a tour. An amazing part of the world!!!!!! Very nice

By NTSU1975 |

Many people will experience Resurrection Bay from the water on some form of boat trip. Maybe a fishing charter or a scenic view charter. Others will be doing paddle boarding. The waters are calm and peaceful. On clear days, reflections of the mountains in the water is a beautiful sight. Camping along the shore line is possible. Sitting on a bench and just watching for wildlife is possible. We were here during a 48 hour stretch with a quick weather change, so the sights we saw from one day to the next were dramatically different. Seward will be your main location in the area for food and lodging.

By Travelingzumbamom |

We have been out on Resurrection Bay numerous times by boat and even stayed in a private cabin 9 miles or so out on a cliff overlooking the bay. The views everywhere you look are spectacular!

By chuckhetherington |

Took fishing charter into the bay . Weather a bit rough , but enjoyed the trip . Even with the rain & clouds , still some beautiful views !!

By Marc_and_Kim_Z |

We did the 3.5 hour voyage and had a blast. Saw humpback whales, otters, seals and lots of birds. 3.5 was perfect any longer would have been too much.

By FREIDA E |

Spectacular glacier, bay and mountain crystal-clear views....can't be beat on a sunny, warm day. A photographer's dream.

By Brenda A |

Great adventure. Have one this trip 3 times and have never been disappointed. See whales each time even tho they don't guarantee sightings.

By CeeJayCJ |

Incredible tour and location. Did this with 'Pursuit Alaskan Collection'. The one hour free lunch at Fox Island was good, but, wish had more time to spend on the Island. Gentle cruise that does not need Dramamine.

By Michelle |

We were staying at Miller's landing at Lowell point. We also did a kayak trip with them and had an amazing early morning ride through Resurrection Bay. We weren't lucky enough to see the whales that they had seen earlier in the week but the views are incredible.

By Patrick G |

Beautiful views. Whales, porpoises, otters were spotted frequently. Nice walking trail along the bay in Seward. Scenic drive along the bay as well, but use caution south of Seward. Recent mud slides have left the road very rough.

By ひぐま#1 |

The bay in Seward. I came here 10 years ago, and the atmosphere hasn't changed at all since then. I took a half-day cruise like last time, but this time I only encountered small sea otters and seals. I guess it can't be helped, since you're dealing with nature.

By Sandy S |

We spent the day on a tour of Resurrection Bay this was my favorite day in Seward. The crew on the boat was very helpful answering questions and finding bay animals. We saw Otters,Orcas.Other Type of whales. Puffins, porpoise. We also learned and saw many glaciers one in piticular was calving that was truly amazing. The seals below the glacier did not seem botherd much when the ice came down. We also had a prime rib and salmon dinner on the boat it was the best meal we had on our trip. The grandkids loved this trip out.I would recomend it to anyone. We where very lucky the ocean was pretty calm that day.

Left Seward on a sea boat/kayaking adventure. Visited the fjords and sawgGlaciers caving, orcas, puffins, seals, sea lions, starfish, moon jellies,seagulls.......what not to love. My husband and I spent the entire time outside the cabin on the boat.

By ViktorTrue |

Resurrection Bay is a fantastic fjord with majestic views of the mountains on either side of this 800+ foot deep waterway carved by glaciers long ago. Of all of the spots I had seen during my cruise around Alaska, this was the most magnificent - the snow-capped mountains surrounding this beautiful dark blue water with wildlife around - breathtaking.

By IowaTravelFan |

This is one of those places you should take the time to slow down and enjoy the town of Seward, the friendly residents, good restaurants and beautiful scenery. The walk along the bay goes from the port to the Sea Life Center. Near the port their are restaurants and shops. Further down are campgrounds. There are rest rooms and a park with playground equipment. Watching the techniques of the fishermen and women is interesting with salmon jumping all about. Beautiful blue waters, mountains and today a rainbow! A place we won’t ever forget.

By Kdawg282 |

Phenomenal body of water that you can see along Seward waterfront and harbor. Several tours offered and wildlife viewing opportunities galore! Can’t miss this!

By cat momma |

Stayed at one of the lodges here, with that gorgeous view over the water of the snow capped mountains on the other side. Nice beaches to walk as well.

By Freida W |

I went fishing for king and red salmon in Resurrection Bay and caught some huge fish. It is so beautiful here I plan to come back every year.

By JCW703 |

Did a fjords cruise with Major Marine- saw orcas, sea otters, sea lions, and humpbacks in Resurrection Bay- highly recommend.

Be sure to take the sea sickness meds- you'll need them!

By MEma26qts |

Spoon gorgeous!!! Great place to visit! Loved it & got great pictures!!! Couldn't say enough about the view!!!

By morganreed727 |

Beautiful beach and views. You can see the whales from here occasionally. we did not get to see them from the beach on our trip but it was a nice relaxing place to sit and look at the views.

By Kendot52 |

This glacier created bay is beautiful from any direction. It has an abundance of wildlife. We watched sea otters swimming along the shore and several varieties of birds. I recommend taking the walking trail that follows the shore from 4th Street.

By Michelle M |

Resurrection Bay is absolutely beautiful whether you see it by boat or from the beach. It is alive with wildlife such as otters, seals, Puffins, walrus and whale (all viewed in or two day visit). And the surrounding mountains are breath taking!

By pamelo7 |

There is something so very special about Resi Bay!!! The fresh air, the mountains, the everything!!! Watching the sun come up over the mountains is something that you'll not soon forget. And she's different in the morning, afternoon and night, as the tides completely change her look. It is a spectacular place to be!!!

By mkw06 |

We saw otters, seals, whales, puffin, dolphins... It is amazing. We went on a boat tour- would recommend the smaller ones. Be prepared for cold weather even in June.

By comfortnurse |

This is truly a beautiful part of the U.S. The mountains, the sea-life and shore-life are breathtaking. The glacier was the frosting on the cake.

By OurFueledLife |

Such a breathtaking Bay to view from many sides depending on where you are staying, hiking, exploring or boat riding. Would suggest traveling down Nash road which takes you around the bay where you can get a great view of Seward. Not many travelers take that road so it felt quite special to learn about it.

By Isabela G |

It really worth a visit. Beautiful views. Go to the Exit Glacier and walk around. Part of the must see.

By oaktree56 |

There doesn't seem to be a bad view from anyplace around here. Everything changes seemingly moment to moment; views, wildlife, weather.

Well worth the trip here!

By Ris H |

The fishing is why we went, but the scenery alone is worth the trip. The people are friendly and are proud of their home and it shows.

By RickFLL |

Seward is located on Resurrection Bay. There are several cruise expeditions sailing daily to several locations on Resurrection Bay. The scenery is magnificent.

By Chris I |

We loved the cruise through Resurrection Bay! The water was a bit rough at times, but well worth any motion sickness to see the amazing bay. We saw Humpback whales, Killer whales, dolphins, puffins, sea lions, seals, sea otters and more! We also got very close to glaciers and actually saw a "calving" occur while we were close by. This was the top of our adventures in Alaska!

By 1ChicagoKid |

Your first view of Resurrection Bay will absolutely take your breath away. A must see for anyone who loves wide open space, blue water and views that go on forever, framed by gigantic snow and glacier covered mountains.

By maniacdream |

This place will melt your troubles and let you breathe in the freshness of life .. detox from the world in this natures gift to humanity !! Absolutely beautiful!! Must see 👍

By Libba P |

We enjoyed a lovely trip to Alaska and seeing this beautiful Bay. We boarded our NCL ship at Seward and had time to tour the coastal town shops and aquarium.

By A_Shoemake |

The drive from Whittier to Alaska boasted Dall Sheep on the mountain side and the best "long" view. You could see for miles! Go bold and rent a RV...Seward is a must see and fish town enroute to Kenai.

By Marilyn T |

Resurrection Bay is beautiful. You have Seward in the back, mountains in the front. The sunrise over the mountains is really pretty. You can't go wrong with nature at its finest.
