This was a good aquarium but it was $39 a piece and took only about an hour to go through. Kids under 3 are free, that helped. I think I was paying for the Ripley name. It had a nice play structure at the end.

Great fun for the entire family! We’ve visited several aquariums and this by far was the best. Everything from the sharks, turtles, divers in the tank.

We have visited many aquariums across the USA. While this one is not as large as a lot of the other ones, we found many interesting tanks displaying ocean life species that we had never seen before.

Each exhibit allowed you close up viewing and all the tanks were immaculate.

They do have a lot of extra charge items such as Breakfast with a Mermaid, Picture with a Mermaid, Bottom Glass Boat ride, etc. Don't waste your money.

The Glass Bottom Boat ride is a joke as the boat floats over the same tanks that you can view for free by going through the Shark Tunnel. We highly recommend the tunnel and was surprised at how long it is giving you plenty of opportunities to view the different sharks along with other sea life. We enjoyed it more than the one at Sea World in Orlando.

Overall, a great way to spend a few hours. Look for a $2 off coupon in the small sized Myrtle Beach guide which most hotels should have.

Don't let all the ads around town mislead you - most of what Ripley's Aquarium billboards featured were not available when we went in August. Our young daughter was excited about "mermaids" but when I inquired, I was informed mermaid shows are only on weekends now that "school has started" - which in fact only applied to that county, not all schools in SC nor in other states. When I went to reception desk, the styled-to-mimic-Weird Al Yankovic young man was snooty when I asked about schedule for various things we'd seen advertised, telling me "it's on our website". Be aware all of the animal encounters heavily advertised require additional fees per person and advance reservations, despite it already being $40/adult to enter. There were not many actual exhibits; the moving sidewalk under shark tunnel was not on and portions of it were dark and empty; and at every turn there were opportunities to charge you more - for a photo taken upon arrival which causes a bottleneck in line to enter, food, and obnoxious made-in-China toys (the only way to exit the aquarium is via their overstuffed gift shop). Due to small size and layout with poor flow, it is very crowded and overall has only enough to see to occupy one hour max. We had more memorable encounters with sea animals on North Myrtle Beach and a sunset cruise in Calabash than at this overpriced tourist trap.

It's much like the other aquariums I've been to. The best part was walking through or under the aquarium containing the sharks. I got some good pictures. Good for a couple of hours. Take your time and enjoy the many different species.

Our grand children loved it was very interesting. Enjoyable time seeing all the varietes of fish. Also the pool where they could feed the fish.

Excellent location to visit with he family. Many great exhibits and hands-on opportunities. Plan to spend the day.

We visited the Aquarium while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. It was enjoyable. Loved the jelly fish exhibit and the shark tunnel. Probably nothing exceptional that you wouldn't find at any other aquarium. There was such a line to get into the building and then we discovered they parade everyone in to get a photo as you enter the building which is a money making scheme. If you want to spend the money and a couple of hours inside, it's an OK adventure.

Fair. But I saw two prices for the tickets. But they said one of them was wrong. Really False advertisment.

Nice aquarium. Teenage kids liked it. Good location. Pricey but everything is while on vacation. Took around 90 minutes to get thru

By Corissa Y |

We were so glad we decided to go to this place. It was amazing even with no kids. The stingrays, sharks and penguins are my favorite.

By roytan1947 |

A little pricey for the size of the aquarium. We did enjoy all the exhibits and there are a Lot of wonderful activities for children. The hark tunnel was well done and you could see sharks up close.

By Lori C |

This quickly became our favorite aquarium. From the penguins to the jellies to the amazing sharks and sea turtle, we loved everything we saw. It was clean and the animals looked well cared for. We actually walked through the whole aquarium twice. We didn’t have kids with us but it looked like there was lots for the kiddos to do too. We would love to go back again!

By vacatraveler12 |

A great aquarium with lots to see and do. Was nice and cool on a hot day. A little pricy at nearly $40/person but it’s the beach and vacation so that’s expected. The kids had a great time. We don’t live near the ocean so they really learned a lot about sea life. The moving platform under the main aquarium to see all the fish was pretty cool.

Great for individuals or families. The jellyfish exhibit is colorful and fantastic. Enjoyed the African penguins and the stingray pond (where else can you spend time petting/touching a stingray as it swims near your arm?). Loved the pirate exhibit. Ripley's Aquarium is a must-see. Beautiful place.

Stood in the rain to buy tickets for 30 mins. Then while self scanning the tickets, Derrick calls our group over and tells us they’re coming up invalid. Asks if we’ve been in here today already. I explain to him that we just bought them and he can look at the time stamp on the receipt. Instead he proceeded to continue to scan each ticket and repeats they’re invalid. His attitude was very accusatory and aggressive. The manager came to the front and tried to rectify the situation but the damage was already done as it took an additional 10+ mins to explain the situation to her, only for her to ask “what is it we want”. We want to GET IN after paying almost $200! Then the penguin exhibit was dark and kids were headed towards the tunnel, only for a staff member to come yell “GET OUT”. There was no sign or anyone attending the area to make sure it was safe and there was definitely a different way to handle both situations! I’ve been here over 5 times this year alone and never experience such horrible customer service. Won’t be back, family experience ruined!

Very impressive collection of fish and sea animals. Fun and educational for all ages. Exhibits are well put together, easy to see and makes time fly by quickly. Seems a little cheesy when you first get there, but walk right past this and you will be amazed.

The aquarium was really delightful! I wasn’t anticipating anything special in a touristy area. The size of the building doesn’t seem like it would house as much as it has for exhibits.

I’d say it’s the perfect amount of things to see. I didn’t feel underfed after we left or like we walked a marathon!

The shark tunnel was very cool and not one but several decent size sharks to see. The backlit jellyfish exhibit was entrancing (see my pics). The piranha tank and other absolutely scary toxic or dangerous fish are neat to see so close (even for teenagers). Stingrays touch tank was also something they enjoys as well.

I tell you as an adult there is a new appreciation for any public bathroom that smells like oranges and lemons not urine!

We were there quite late in the day. I looked on my pictures to be specific 6:50 to 8:00 pm

I enjoyed the lack of crowds this time of day. We missed out on a bit from it in trade.

Manta tank was out of food for the day
Concession carts closed because we went late (oops)
The glass bottom wasn’t running or we were late?
The jelly fish pet tank (lol yes there was a touch tank for that! Ha ha!) was closed.

I still give this place maximum stars or votes. I’d go again in a few years, or with someone who hasn’t been sooner.

Keep it up! See you again

Wonderful experience! Perfect for a rainy day. Very well displayed. The staff was very friendly. Average prices for a tourist location. Very convenient location at Broadway at the Beach. Would highly recommend!

By Andy |

It was not a great aquarium. They had some cool fish but was horribly laid out and very small for the price

By David k |

Brought family back to aquarium to see the sloth exhibit, unfortunately they were sleeping, it was crowded but still able to move around and see everything

By EvanGuthrie |

Ripley's Aquarium of Myrtle Beach at Broadway At The Beach is a cool aquarium experience that has more than you would expect. I really like everything that they have available here and all of the exhibits. It is well worth the visit for everything that you can see here. Really good experience every time I have been here

By Michael A |

This was the money pit of all money pits. Overly expensive for an afternoon activity of no value. It wasn’t even air conditioned.

By John C |

Overpriced, and they are more focused on getting as much money as possible from their customers than anything else. There are many aquariums in the US that are better value focused on entertainment and education for less cost. They have a $10 glass bottom boat ride in a large tank. The one food menu is pizza and chips, overprice of course.

The additional activities were well worth it. But they are several miles away, which we found out after purchasing the tickets.

By Mary Helen D |

Great afternoon with two year old grandson, mesmerized by all the fish, sharks, hands on experience. He was totally excited by the pirate ship and slides after overcoming his initial hesitancy he climbed and repeated. Total confidence builder

By Kim |

The aquarium was more than I expected this time around. Lots of exhibit and animals to see. The penguins was amazing to see. It has two levels of exhibits. It does get crowded fast, go early in the morning. It was pricey, but well worth the money.

By Pream |

We Really enjoyed the Aquarium. We usually to go zoos on vacation but we thought we would see an aquarium as well. Spent more time than I thought we would. They have a power walk (moving sidewalk) that goes around and under the main tank. The touch a jellyfish exhibit was not opened when we got to it, not sure if it was timing on our part or if it was closed.

By QuintsGramma |

We have enjoyed the aquarium many times because the grandkids request it every-time they visit us. Every time! Always colorful, informative and spectacular. A family favorite.

By Britton E |

This aquarium is an absolute MUST! Its a great option if you have a rainy beach day. I wasn't sure what to expect since the aquarium is a little smaller than some others I've visited, but good things come in small packages! The aquarium was super clean and all of the animals seem very well cared for. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable from the front to the back. I especially enjoyed seeing the mermaid show a few years ago. Take your cameras! The sting ray touch pool was also a highlight. We even had a great experience in the gift shop. I had wanted this resin shark frame and when I came back later in the day to get it, it had sadly been sold. One of the staff saw me looking around for it and asked if he could help. I explained the situation and he offered to call me if they got more in. I wrote down my contact information, but couldn't help thinking I'd probably never hear from them again over a $30 item. It meant a lot to me, but I figured they wouldn't "waste their time" on such a small retail item. Well, they proved me wrong! A few weeks later I got a follow up call from a super polite Nick Dorantes that they had gotten more in and would I like to purchase it and have it shipped. I happily paid over the phone and it was shipped in a timely manner. It's absolutely beautiful on my wall at home. So all in all this aquarium has 2 thumbs up from me!

Prior to traveling to Myrtle Beach I looked up things to do in the area and saw this aquarium offered a swimming with stingrays experience. After I arrived I went on their website to get more information and buy tickets. There was very little information on the website about the stingray activity. Since I was on a solo trip my biggest question was if I could bring my GoPro with me as I didn’t have another person that could take pictures while I was there. I had participated in similar activities at other aquariums that allowed them but wanted to make sure prior to buying tickets. I called the aquarium 6 times during their posted business hours trying different options and only got different departments' voice mail. The only mention of cameras on the website was on the FAQ under cameras “Absolutely YES! Feel free to take pictures and shoot video and share with your friends and family.” there were no notations stating except in stingray experience or anything of that nature and nothing on the stingray page about cameras. There was also very little information on if you just waded in the water with them or if you got to swim/ snorkel with them. I ended up finding a video on Facebook that had been posted 6 months prior that showed participants snorkeling, it also appeared to be filmed by someone participating so I went ahead and purchased tickets for the only time available the next day which was at 10:30 am.

I arrived the next morning at 9:50 and got my admission ticket. Once inside I went to the counter to check-in and I was given a waiver to fill out. I was also informed I was the only person that had bought a ticket for that time slot and they gave me the impression they didn’t want to conduct the activity with just one person. While filling out the waiver I asked about the camera. It was not until then that I was told cameras were not allowed but I could have someone else use my camera for footage. I informed them I was there alone and asked if they meant an employee would do that. I was told no, I could give it to another guest of the aquarium. They actually expected me to hand a $400 camera to a complete stranger that would then stay in the viewing area the entire time I was there and then wait for me to come out after changing. The lady at the counter didn’t see any problem at all with her proposed suggestion. Given I was obviously unaccepting of her fantastic idea and since they didn’t want to run the activity with a single participant I was quickly offered a full refund and escorted out. Complete waste of the last morning of my vacation. All of which could have been avoided by answering a ringing telephone or a single sentence on a website.

We visited the aquarium around noon on a weekday this past Tuesday and it was so busy the whole trip was unenjoyable. Way to many people. It made it impossible to enjoy the visit. We were a party of 8 and none of us enjoyed it. Nerve racking. Like Walmart on BlackFriday. I suggest if you visit to do so in the off season. At $40 per adult, it’s terrible to have such a terrible visit. It’s also a smaller aquarium.

By millerb |

Nicely done penguin exhibit, good time walking around at your own pace. You can feed the stingrays. Nice shark exhibit.

By CAVD |

Enjoyed everything here! The kids had a blast! Very educational yet lots of fun also!! My favorite was the stingray exhibit! A must see & participate! Good job ripleys!

By Britt |

This was the best aquarium we have ever been to. There were tons of different exhibits and things to see! My 5&2 year old both had a great time and so did we! We loved petting the sting rays

By jennifer d |

My son took me to the aquarium for Mothers Day ( we are locals) and I wanted to see the new Sloths and pet the baby sting ray. I have to say, I am SO impressed with the staff! EVERYONE was super pleasant and I am a 50 year old grandmother who was very pleased to see the DIVERSITY of the staff members and how " friendly" the company is. As for the previous reviewer who was SO negative about an LGBTQ member who works here. shame on you!!!! WE don't care if someone's pin says SHE/ HE/ THEY.... every staff member was AMAZING and worked very hard to make my Mothers Day with my son the best ever!!!! Keep up the amazing work! PS. Zack and Teddy were amazing and the penguins were so adorable!

By Bradley D |

The Family had a blast here. My Favorite Moment was looking at the sharks and seeing my kids feed the sting rays. We spent over 2 hours here. Great Experience.

By Kait C |

The gift shop was amazing, Alec is the best employee to go to when you need help! They’re also super welcoming!

By WvTravelerBeckley |

Pros: good exhibits. Offered a law enforcement discount. Cons: way too crowded when we went. Also they charge 6$ for a beer but 15$ for your kid to get a slushy. Ridiculous, even the workers commented on how they don’t agree with it. Additionally the price for the slushy is the only item not advertised with a price, so you have to wait in line to figure that out. The tank areas was hot and no air blowing. Made the best part of the place miserable.

By CoopJen |

This was our first visit to this Ripley's Aquarium (we've been to the one in Gatlinburg before) and we had a very nice time. We all wore masks and tried to keep our distance from others. The exhibits are nice and the animals are pretty cool. I will say the $100 price tag for 2 adults and 1 child is too much! It only took us about 1 hour maybe 90 mins to get through it all moving at a normal pace and stopping to take pics and get closer looks. That price wouldn't be so bad if it was a 3-4 hour activity...but it is not. If it is a rainy day and you need something to do then its worth it. But if you have more than 3 people....be prepared to spend a small fortune.

By Lauren S |

We planned to go here on a day with some rain, on a weekday. We’d been to the one in Tenn. and enjoyed it so thought we’d check this one out. It was $100 for 2 adults and 1 child (5 year old); our 2yo was free. That cost was with a coupon! We arrived around 11:30 and from the outside it didn’t appear too busy, there wasn’t much of a line to get in. They had people scanning their own tickets into the aquarium, which seemed a little weird. Once in the aquarium it was like a cattle call. So many people, families with small children and so many strollers everywhere. Everyone moving from one crowed exhibit to the next, waiting behind groups of people 3-4 deep to get a brief glimpse of the animals while ensuring the children do not run off and get lost in a sea of people. The aquarium itself is decorated well. My children enjoyed the mermaid meet and greet and the mermaid show. We also enjoyed the glass bottom boat tour. However the sheer number of people in the aquarium made the experience borderline unbearable. Mostly you were only able to walk 1 way down the ramp, even though besides a small out of the way camouflaged elevator (in the sloth exhibit) the ramp seems to be the only way up and down btw the 2 levels. Limiting the number of people in attendance would be a great customer friendly thing to do, but I’m sure would cut into their bottom line. Perhaps going right when they open would lead to a more enjoyable experience.

By GH |

It is expensive and crowded but we enjoyed the facility. The shark tank with conveyer belt worked to keep folks moving. Nice way to avoid the heat outside.

By Nancy B |

This was they best part of our trip besides the beach/ ocean. The shark tank was awesome visually great. All exhibits were informative and just plain great!!

By kaydekng |

Def a little pricey but had a nice time. My kids really enjoyed it, 4, 9 and 13. Watching the sharks over your head is pretty cool, touching jelly fish and my daughter met a mermaid. We spent about 2 hrs here.

By Jacki F |

This was a fine aquarium. Not the most amazing one I've been too. The sloth and penguins seem kinda tightly packed in. The tunnels the kids could go in were cool. We liked watching the mermaids in the ray tank, but the sitting area could use more space. It was very busy in there and very hard to navigate. The price was a bit high in my opinion for what it was, but not outrageous. The moving walkway near the big shark tank was definitely the best part. Wish they had that moving walkway throughout the whole place.

By Jim H |

Very impressive aquarium, but staff is unfriendly, unaccommodating, and unprofessional. Save your time and money and visit something else. You’ll thank me for the advice.

By GregK1239 |

We went here on a recent trip to Myrtle Beach and myself and my kids were all overwhelmed. I will admit that it is neat to see, especially the tunnel under the water, but for the price of admission, there should be more to see and do. For 2/3 the price, this place would be worth the 4 or 5 stars, but for what you pay, it isn't worth it. My kids were bored fairly quickly.

The one big negative was the big digital signs advertising "Live Mermaid Shows" out front. When we went it, there was another digital sign advertising "Live Mermaid Shows" with three different show times, the first show being at 12. Around noon, about 50 people were gathered where the Mermaid Show said it would take place. Everyone was waiting, and finally at 12:15 I went and asked the front desk and the lady said shows only happen Friday-Sunday, not on the day of the week we were there. I told her their advertising was misleading and apparently a lot of people were confused by it by the number of people waiting to see the show, but she didn't apologize or seem to care.

By David V |

Ripley's customer service is non-existent. better pray you don't have issues with an on-line order because you are on your own. Nobody to answer phone calls, no returning calls from messages left, no replies to emails.

By Ldubb |

Not great. $40 per person to get in and it's an extremely small aquarium for that price. It was fairly busy on a Tuesday afternoon in mid-late August but we purchased our tickets online so we were able to bypass the ticket line & go straight in.

Tons of smaller kids and in comparison to the Denver Aquarium or Shed Aquarium in Chicago, this was a huge disappointment. Much smaller, less to see, & we made it through within an hour. Save your money if you're in Myrtle Beach, there are better choices for the cost. If you have young ones, it may be an okay choice to spend away from the beach. Best part was seeing the penguins.

By Liz |

It’s pricy to get in but it was fun to see all the sea life and of course the penguins. There was something for everyone to see

By Wayne B |

Every time we go to myrtle beach my daughter wants to go here. She started with he was 4 and is now 12. We enjoy each visit. Some of the displays/activites are the same but they have others that they switch out year to year.

By Lisa P |

We loved it here! So much to see 👀 here. Hopefully we will be able to visit again someday. Long line but worth the wait. Everything was easily accessible as well. Would recommend this place.

By Danielle H |

This was great! Beautifully set up. Fun for all ages. The tunnel with the sharks was the best! Touching the stingrays was a close second! All the fish, as well as other animals appear to be very well cared for. I do wish the octopus had more space though. The penguins were adorable too.

By Cindy D |

We were able to visit the aquarium with family. It had been a few years since we had been. Many additions had been made. We especially liked the tunnel tank where we could view the sharks, Gabby the sea turtle, and sword fish. We had a great visit. Can’t wait until next time. If you’re an educator, you get s discount!

By SAMUEL U |

The entire place was very clean and the staff was respectful we had a great time because the regular zoo stinks too much and the aquarium is just like the regular zoo but all of the animals are in the bath tub I would recommend a day at the wet zoo to anyone in my will smith fan club. (which I am the treasurer of)

By Cindy2 |

We had a wonderful time, but I think the cost is pretty steep for a family. We were lucky that we got the military discount, but this isn't somewhere we could go yearly. But it is amazing.

By Thomas M |

my family had visited one in TN that was slightly bigger. This visit was nice. the price was about the same we paid in TN.

By OHgal33 |

Loved everything about our visit. We purchased our tickets online so we skipped standing in line once we got there. Our 4 year old loved everything there but especially the penguins. A little pricey but what isn't in a vacation hotspot.

By snsTravels |

The aquarium was a lot of money for a small place. This spot is better for younger kids than teens. The coolest part was the walkway around the shark tank that everyone describes in their reviews - that is a must-see! We didn’t do any of the add-on experiences due to the extra cost, but I know they have additional options available that perhaps would be fun for families with older children.

By Carlan B |

This is a fun place for kids, but very overpriced for what you see. Many exhibits were good and yet not worth the high price.
They promoted the Slouth exhibit, but the only slouth to be seen was in a tree sleeping and others nowhere to be found: so why the big promotion for it?
Kids liked the Mermaid show.

By Themothership |

Awful. Way way way overcrowded. Impossible to see things. Timed admission would have helped. We have been here previously and it wasn’t like this. But this time was horrific. We waited in ridiculous lines just to see the various “tank” attractions. It was so packed I thought it had to be a fire hazard. Impossible to enjoy any part of it. If they had timed admission the crowd could be controlled.

By nhshelbyc |

The aquarium is a must see. Penguins, sharks, sloths, and much, much more! I have been twice and would go again! Location has plenty of parking.

By Shannon |

This place was just ok. Definitely not worth what they charge you. There are only a few exhibits. Not worth the money

By Alicia D |

We had a good experience and the exhibits were nice. Wasn’t too crowded either. My only complaints is some of the exhibits were too small for the sea life and I felt bad for them. My other complaint is the tickets were a bit overpriced, in my opinion. But still overall, it was good.

By Wayne H |

Very nice aquarium. Not huge. Easily walked to second floor via a ramp. Not sure if they had elevators or not.

By JenniferS65422 |

Just okay for the price. The one in the Smokies is way bigger and better. Or Chattanooga. Good for little kids, there is an inside playground and stuff they would like. For a couple, no. The new sloth exhibit is small, there are two of them and they will most likely be sleeping. For couples, save your $85 and go do something else.

By Angela H |

We visited last year after a long wait in line in the rain with our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter, then age 16 mos.—a bit young on hindsight. This time we got tickets online and all had a great time. Granddaughter and Granny especially had a wonderful time. My son-in-law and I love sloths. Of course, being nocturnal plus sleeping 15-20 hours a day, the sloth was asleep curled up in a hole in a “tree.” Still it was more sloth than I’d seen outside of a book. I bought one of many sloth stuffed animal choices and my granddaughter played with it while waiting for supper. She got a mermaid holding a sloth and we bought her a sloth tee shirt. The penguin tunnel and inside view at the end was a hit with 2 years and 4 mo. old, Violet as was seeing the turtle swim through the tank. We will be back! Ripley’s is great!

By Bj |

Great aquarium. Lots of beautiful and unusual fish. Throughly enjoyed leisurely going through the aquarium. Strongly recommend a visit to the aquarium.

By Sun S |

Wow!...Ripley's Aquarium has the most beautiful display of ocean sea life I have ever seen anywhere! Each display is stunningly visual and educational at the same time. Highly recommended for people of all ages, there is something for everyone!

By James S |

Nay sayers, nay sayers, you just can’t please all people. Because of rain my wife and I visited the aquarium, true it’s a bit pricey, true it is not a huge place, but wow, there are many interesting critters that we have not seen at any other aquariums including the New England Aquarium in Boston where we are from. The under the sea tunnel is quite lengthy. The aquarium is clean and does not disappoint, we enjoyed it very much.

By Carol and Ray L |

We enjoyed our day and everything at the aquarium was interesting. We paid extra for the glass bottom boat ride, and we also enjoyed that. We went there as an educational trip for grandchildren, but it was enjoyable for adults as well.

By Beachcomb_33 |

Nice aquarium. My favorite part is Sloth Valley. I got to see a couple of sloths. One sloth was sleeping, and the other one was very active. Nice and clean facility. Decent gift shop. Kids will enjoy it. Worth checking out!

By Debbielov |

The aquarium was so much better than i expected. The exhibits were clean and respectful of the sea life. It was very educational.

By Linda W |

Very disappointed in this aquarium. Been to so many all over the world that are not as expensive as this and have such a better display. It was nice but for the money it was not. I could see if they charge $25 or $30 and it would be okay but most aquariums have seals and dolphins and a lot more active entertainment kind of things. We were very disappointed for the money I would definitely have not spent it going there. Not that we can't afford it but it just was not worth it.

By Sarah B |

Seeing the animals was nice. The only picture we got was a picture of my family with my son's head cut off. It would have been nice to know that his head was cut off so we could re-take it. I'm not going to buy a picture with my son's head cut off. Saved me money.

By jldebruhl |

A great experience, especially on a rainy day! Lots to see- we actually went through twice. The shark tunnel is absolutely amazing and the animals are much closer to you than a regular zoo or aquarium. We bought the pass with 4 additional Ripley attractions and it was well worth it.

By Alisyn Blank |

My husband and I had a lot of fun visiting the aquarium! We have also been to the location in Gatlinburg, TN, but we thought this location was a lot better. We got there right when they opened on a Sunday morning in October, so the crowds weren’t bad at all. The staff was friendly and the animals looked happy. This is a great place to bring kids, but we also had a lot of fun as adults.

By Debra H |

It was so cool. We got to see the penguins walk around the circle. They were so cute. We got to feed the stingrays, got to see all the sharks. It was a great experience. The children loved it.

By Nici |

This is a great aquarium. I had so much time looking at the exhibits. I especially enjoyed the Penguins exhibit and the new Goldfish exhibit. Guests are able to crawl in a tube to get up close and personal with the animals. I had a great time learning about the fish. And of course no museum trip is complete without shopping in the museum store.

By Shannon J |

Have gone every year we have been coming to Myrtle Beach. Always a good time and will be back if we come back down.

By Beth P |

This was awful, waste of money, over 50 dollars to look at 10 dinosaurs that were falling apart. And a ball pit for babies my kids are 5 & 8, it took us literally 5 minutes to get through it. I wish I could have gotten my money back.

By Elizabeth D |

When we first walked in, it didn't look like much, but there was so much to explore. We were there for 5 hours and still didn't see everything! There were stingrays, sharks, seahorses... There was a glass-bottom boat ride and under-water tunnels. There were interactive exhibits for kids and a huge gift shop. My favorite was the penguins and the penguin parade!

By Michael G |

It’s as good an aquarium as you’ll find anywhere. It’s right up there with Maui, Vancouver, Boston and other famous aquariums I’ve visited.

By mrwoj1 |

Small but very informative aquarium. Definitely geared towards kids with the games and play area but we enjoyed it nonetheless (late 50's couple). We spent probably a few hours there. The glass "tunnel" under the aquarium was amazing!

By Craig W |

Clean , loved the christmas trees. easy to navigate. Nice staff. Shark tunnel sidewalk was not working

By Bethany S |

Great visit! We have been to multiple aquariums throughout the country and this was our 3rd visit here. It really is a nice aquarium; has multiple areas to walk through, the stingray area is excellent. This was our first visit with the new penguin area which was nice as well. It takes about an hour and a half to walk through and is a great attraction for the price.

By Brian L |

Fun excursions to take with the little ones when you need an indoor and (ironically) dry activity. Plenty of space for the kids to roam and explore and several shows to keep them entertained for hours. The moving sidewalk is a nice touch and the sloth exhibit is a great place to slooowww down and enjoy. Believe it or not, Price gouging is expected for such a touristy spot but some of the “extras” are a bit outrageous (see through boat - yikes)

This was a gorgeous aquarium that allowed visitors a chance to see many types of aquatic life up close! It wasn't crowded and had tons of information about the different animals! My favorite part was feeding the stingrays! Tons to see and well worth the visit!

By Krystal Q |

Over priced and overcrowded. Not worth the time or money. Also did not like that there was not an easy exit. You had to go through the very long and crowded gift shop to get out.

By Crystal T |

It was small and basic. Would be good for small children. Had some cute penguins and the sharks were neat.

By Carren S |

Amazing so much to experience. Great for families. I hope to take my niece and nephew. Rides food scenery so many attractions

By Amy S |

My family of 4 with two young boys loved this aquarium. We had so much fun, and they were mesmerized by all of the beautiful sea creatures.

By Stephanie B |

Lots to see, Lots of people-does not require mask to enter. Kids had fun seeing all the things to see.

By Holly @ LoveAtFirstSite.blog |

We had a great visit here yesterday. Young and old will appreciate a trip here. Such a variety of fish, sharks, penguins, turtles, sloths, you name it! We went on a week day and had a very pleasurable time. It took is about two hours. We loved the escalator walkway under the tanks and feeding the stingrays. Definitely would recommend!

By SteveandLaura |

All the fish and animals were very cool. The shark tank and sting Ray's were amazing to see and touch. The staff was not as involved as I would have expected. They were kind of just there, walking around, hoping to avoid customers at all costs.

Very nice aquarium.Take the glass bottom boat tour.I really enjoy it very handicap accessible So much to see and do All ages

By Andrew G |

The facility is nice but there needs to be structure on how the tour will go! It was chaos but still had a great time.

By beachlover |

This is our second time visiting the aquarium. I don't understand why there are lines everywhere??? It seems as though it should be a free flowing place, which it was before but it was very aggravating and we did not enjoy it so much this time around.

By E R |

So of all the things we had planned on our SC vacation, I did not expect to like the Ripley's offerings as much as I did. Honestly, I thought they'd be cheesy, but I am happy to say I was very wrong. Our family of 8 adults thoroughly enjoyed the aquarium, mini-golf, and mirror maze. I thought each element was very well done and reasonably priced (we did the "Select 3" package). I would visit all of these sites again as the quality of them reminded me of how well Disney does things (only, of course, this was Ripley's).

By imanimoody |

Great family fun for all ages. Pro-tip...do not go on a rainy day. It was way over crowded and not enough space to move around.

By Brian S |

Went here on a rainy Saturday morning for Breakfast with A Mermaid. We arrived at 8 am for breakfast from 8-10. We got breakfast and had our pictures taken with a Mermaid in a clan shell. She read the kids a story and that was it for that part. Although it was different it was a bit over priced. We were at a table in the back of the room with a pole blocking or tells view of the Mermaid. Would have been better if they put her in the middle of the room and ask the tennis around her clan shell instead of tables with obstructed views. Eskridge since we paid extra for this event. Would have been nice to have more interaction between the kids and the Mermaid. The web site said Arts and craft with a Mermaid and all she did was hand each kid a zip lock bag of beads. Kids had to put it together later on they're own. Not exactly crafts with a Mermaid. Also it said it was from 8-10 but it was all over before 9. We had about 10 minutes in the aquarium before they opened to the public. Which meant the two hours we were charged we only got 1 hour.
The rest of the aquarium was fun and the kids all had a blast. We did the glass bottom boat tour which was $10 each extra for a 20 minute ride. Nothing exciting about this ride if you don't do it, you won't miss it. This kids really loved the Penguins and Pirate area the most. The moving floor though the Shark tank wasn't working and because it was raining outside they were extra crowded. With 6 of us all the extra charges including Mermaid Breakfast, Glass Bottom Boat and feedings I spent a pretty penny. For a large family you'll spend a good amount of money but it was still lots of fun. Just wish we got Event that the website says for the price we paid. Kids still has fun and we made memories.

By James |

Very limited aquarium and quite expensive. We visited every exhibit and it took only 45 minutes. At over $40 per adult I expected a bit more

By Curious44543828976 |

Broke my heart that the shark tunnel conveyers were off. And the mirror maze (also owned by them but not the “main” attraction)… was lackluster as possible

By Ally J |

Aquarium was clean and the surrounding area had a nice downtown walking area to do afterwards. My group and I paid $40 each to walk around the entire aquarium. Only took us about an hour and a half, so we felt like it was not worth the money. Had churros and slushies inside though, and those were delicious :)

By Sharon S |

We were unsure due to the cost of the tickets. Let me tell you, this wad a blast. You could walk part of it. Then they had the motor walkway through the deep sea to see the sharks and other fish. You could step off if you wanted to go slower and see at your own pace. You could also go through as many times as you wanted. This was by far our favorite while we were in. To pet jelly fish and stingrays and be able to feed the stingray was a blast.

By Suzanne F |

This was much better than expected. Very informative. Great exhibits. Coming from Atlanta I had high expectations. I was very pleased. I would recommend.

By waderlust2021 |

We arrived late into Myrtle Beach and wanted something fun we could do indoors before dinner. Our family enjoyed the aquarium! Ample parking, facilities were clean, staff were friendly, and the variety of sea creatures were excellent. My family and 3 year old nephew really enjoyed it! Our favorite spots were the sharks, jellyfish, and sting rays!

By RDDKAD |

Good layout, even on a crowded day you don't feel like you are packed like a sardine.
Two very cool things about this place - the shark exhibit and the jellyfish area. So many sharks, cruising past you on both sides and above. You really get to see them up close and personal. The jellyfish under the black light that constantly changed colors (blue, red, orange, yellow, green, you name it and it became it) was a true highlight. Stingray petting also available.

By EddyNFLD |

Ripleys aquarium promised much but greatly under delivered. The first thing I’ll point out is the inhumane habitats that most of try’s sea life have to live in. And maybe I’m wrong and they’re transported to better places after close , or rotated out, but many of the exhibits are small and restrictive to their natural habitat.

The main example is the giant octopus whose cage is in a dark corner. No time for exploration or enrichment but secluded. Did you know octopus have been found to have the same cognitive processes as an 8 year old?!, yet they lock it away in a corner alone.

Would not recommend ripleys to anyone who cares about sea life

Definitely avoid

By April C |

The aquarium was a lot of fun. It’s truly the only attraction with the Ripleys name thats worth the money. The glass bottom boat ride is so fun!

By Lisa C |

This aquarium is very well done and always a joy to visit! My favorite areas are the pirate displays and the shark tank!

By BRIAN E |

What a wonderful place to take your family. The walk through shark tank is amazing. The penguins are so cute and being able to go in their enclosure inside a viewing tube was great. A definite must if you are in the area with children or grandchildren.

By hammers1856 |

We enjoyed our time at this attraction and was surprised on the size and what they had to offer. The penguin, shark and stingray exhibits were the highlight of our visit.

By cortez s |

Awesome! Me and my family enjoyed our visit. Our daughter didn't want to leave she was having so much fun. The mermaid show was great!!! I enjoyed it. They actually went swimming with the stingrays! 😱 Dangerous stingrays! But they gave us a great show. Overall experience was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

By tracy d |

Ripley's Aquarium was fantastic! The whole family enjoyed it and there was a lot to see! The shark tank had to be our favorite, and my granddaughter was in heaven getting to have her picture taken with a mermaid!

By philgill94 |

Lots of fun. Learned a lot - really cool experience and walking under the water was a cool experience.

By Segebaba |

This rating is based off the fact that we have been to bigger aquariums with wider collections than Myrtle Beach’s. This aquarium has a fair collection of water and land species.

By Phyllis S |

This is a very nice aquarium with a lot of various sea life. Unfortunately, the day we went was extremely crowded and the flow of the aquarium made it difficult to get through. Several rooms dead end and you have to go against the flow of the crowd to get out. Having said that the aquarium is very nice. To exit you have to wind through the gift shop which was also very difficult to do because of the crowds.

By PickyTraveler714 |

One of our better activities during our time in Myrtle Beach. Several aspects of the aquarium are absolutely terrific: the shark tunnel is especially spectacular, with the enormous sharks, sawfish and rays swimming all around and overhead. Although the glass-bottom boat doesn't travel very far, it gives a fine view of the sealife directly below, and the information provided during the tour is terrific. Being able to touch/stroke/pet/whatever the swimming rays was also especially enjoyable (they are SO soft). Several of the nearby exhibits are wonderfully informative, too; I especially liked the one on life as a pirate, arrrgh.

By MommyofFour91 |

Teachers get in for $5 and family gets half off. Such a good deal for our family of four. It is smaller than the one we go to in pigeon forge, but the kids enjoyed it. Staff was very sweet from check in to feeding the sting rays.

By Ace43526 |

My son is a huge fan of animals and into Baby Shark and William right now. So this was a must see while in Myrtle Beach. He couldn’t stop pointing at animals and sharks. One really cool feature is the domes that are placed inside some of the exhibits allowing you to crawl in through a tunnel and stand among the penguins or fish. The tunnel aquarium was AMAZING! Admission is a little steep, but it was well worth it. We would have probably went back again just for his sake if the admission price would have been a little lower. But overall a great time!

By Megan |

We enjoyed visiting. It is on the smaller size of aquariums we have visited but was perfect for our 3 year old. It kept her attention and had many areas for her to play and explore. They layout made it seem bigger than it actually was. We were bummed they didn’t have mermaids in the tank the day we visited. Our daughter was really into mermaids and pirates. She loved the pirate section and the ship in the shark tank. We found out during our visit the mermaids are only there on Saturdays and Sundays.

By Irina |

Staff was GREAT! My kids loved the Aquarium and all it had to offer. Will be back next time we are in town for sure!

By Hope R |

Family loved it, perfect for those hot muggy days to be inside and looking at sea life. Tones of hands on activities for the kids and you get to see mermaids! A must do if you are traveling. They offer good military discounts for active and veterans. I really do appreciate how military friendly Myrtle Beach is.

By Leroy T |

Spent a fortune for 4 people to see a mediocre aquarium. Definitely a place where you can get COVID. Cleaning procedures not in evidence. Won't be back.

By Brenda A |

Not a huge place by any means but they packed a lot in!! The shark tunnel was great!
We made reservations to swim with the sting-rays - I would do it again in a heartbeat! We were lucky we were the only 2 in the pool with the diver so we had her undivided attention! Feeding the rays was an experience I will never forget!!
Your ticket to swim with the rays does NOT include admission into the Aquarium so it can be pretty pricey.
They do offer a first responder discount! 30% off with proof of employment!

By Ed D |

All the interactive exhibits were great, but the underwater exhibit was the best. Fun and educational.

By 24Traveler |

My wife wanted to go, which left me like, "You wanna go to what?? to where?? You gotta being shii......lalalala, OK." I bought advanced tickets to skip the line, arriving to think, "I wish I had stood in line to postpone the worst......I'm going to looking at a bunch of fish I want to fry and saute and ...."

I am so friggin' glad I suggested going!!! It was my idea, actually. I, me, I have wanted to go for years. Yeah, well. Me and Cheddar are old mates, you wouldn't kn... My wife loved it!! I am so glad I booked the day for me and her. The stingrays? Need a bath, guys!!!! You are so SLIMEY! But, hey.

By angelwright7931 |

We got the aquarium plus 5 package we absolutely loved visiting the aquarium. Loved seeing the sloth 🦥 exhibit.
The next day we enjoyed the Ripleys crazy golf, Odditorium, and a couple others that came with the package.
Put this on places to visit while there you won't be disappointed!

By Alicia T |

I purchased tickets for the penguin encounter for my son for his birthday and we spent the day together at the aquarium. He loved seeing the penguin up close and being able to pet him, but I was disappointed in the overall experience. The keepers were not very enthusiastic or engaging, and it felt like I was having to carry the interaction with questions of my own. Several of my questions were answered with “I don’t know” and a couple of the facts that they offered on their own were followed with “I think.” As an educator, I feel like this was a wasted opportunity on behalf of the aquarium staff to instill passion for animal care and conservation in young children.
I was also surprised by the fact that five of the different hand sanitizer stations (including the one by the entrance and the one by the ray touch tank) were empty. We arrived when the aquarium opened, so I would think that they had all been filled at the beginning of the shift.

By edandruth2021 |

This aquarium is one of the best that we have visited. All the tanks are crystal clear and we just loved the shark tunnel and the Penguin Exhibit!. I would have given it a 5 but I think the price is a little too high!

By Anneri76 |

We booked breakfast with a mermaid. My daughter LOVED it! Food was really good, they read a story and we got access to the aquarium afterwards. Great array of ocean animals!

By Jay B |

Very nice aquarium. Very good for little kids and adults as well. This place is huge and has enough activities for the entire family

By victoriamccracken |

Great morning activity for our 5 and 11 year old boys! I will say it is more entertainment than educational but the information is all there if the crowds aren’t too bad. The boys loved having the opportunity to touch the rays and our 5 year old really enjoyed the play structure. The whole building including the bathrooms were all very clean and maintained well.

By Angelize1999 |

I have been to many aquariums all over the Eastern coast. By far this is the most amazing aquarium I have ever been to. The moving sidewalk was fun as you could just watch all of the ocean animals around you. I have never seen a swordfish before! All of the different sharks were very cool to see. We felt like everything was clean and there was plenty to do. My son loves stingrays and this was the first time he was able to feed them so he really had a good time. I definitely felt like it was worth the money! I would visit this location again when in the area next time.

By sm0ss123 |

I was a little worried that it was going to be a waste of money! Let me tell you, IT WAS A BLAST!!! I never realized how much there is in that building. The glass bottom boat was educational and fun! I never knew I could have so much fun and spend so much time just looking reading taking pictures and watching my granddaughter ooh and awe at everything. She loved it as much as I did! You could spend an entire day there and still be impressed.

By Darius Martin |

We walked around and even though they can’t control the people that visit, everyone just stood in your way without trying to be courteous and stepping to the side. It looks like a place with plenty to do on the inside but once you step inside you see how small it truly is. All of the exhibits weren’t as exciting or information filled as you would want an aquarium to be. If I could have gotten a refund I would have requested one. If you are contemplating going here I highly recommend saving your money to go to your local aquarium back home. Will never spend my money here again.

By Steph |

Honestly, this is one of the coolest aquariums l've taken my kids to, and they absolutely loved it too! The wide variety of animals and interactive experiences for kids were amazing. My
1-year-old couldn't stop saying "wow" while standing on the moving walkway, especially when seeing all the sharks! If you have young kids, this is definitely one of the best aquariums l've been to. It was SUPER crowded when we went which is never fun, but the kids loved it anyway.
Highly recommend it!

By ian07095 |

This beautifully inspired aquarium is great for a rainy day or any day, for that matter!!! It's fun to see all the exhibits and it's very educational too!!!

By John E. |

We went right after the aquarium opened and got to see the penguin parade. It's very well laid out, particularly in it's handicapped accessibility. An hour was sufficient for us, but you would certainly need more time if it were crowded. I felt it hade the right amount of exhibits. I didn't felt cheated or bored. We just did the basic tour, but be prepared to shell out some money if you chose to do the add-on attractions.

By Robert H |

Needs to be refurbished! We bought the package for Ripleys, got to the aquarium, loved seeing all the animals, their so called conveyor sidewalk wasn't in operation! And a lot of stuff was worn and didn't work! Not really worth the money for the package.

By mommyboggs |

It is a nice, clean and newer aquarium. Was pretty expensive though. And crowded, to where you couldn't do alot. We did like the penguins and sharks! There didn't seem like a rhyme or reason to going through it and only exit was to go through the small overcrowded gift shop.

By Clover1944 |

Lots to do for all ages, not super time consuming if you don't want it to be. Great indoor activity while visiting Myrtle Beach!

By crystal w |

Booked tickets online, no wait in lines. A little busy, but not super crowded. So many amazing things to see, leave plenty of time to see it all !

By Phylliss H |

Very good experience Very well laid out. Exhibits were great Staff very friendly. Exhibits were well marked. It is a self-guided tour so you can take as long as you want. The ticket was good for all day so we went shopping and came back Great deal

By Country G |

Ripley sting ray experience is a really nice opportunity. Ryan was an incredible instructor with a great sense of humor and knowledge. The kids had a blast snorkeling with the stingrays getting some highly detailed knowledge. I highly recommend if you ever get the chance to experience the stingray or penguins up close and personal. It is worth the adventure.

By metallica_1977 |

It was ok at best and is ridiculously overpriced. I understand Myrtle Beach is a tourist trap but come on… on top of that it was so packed with people that you’re basically elbow to elbow through all of the tunnels and even with that it only took an hour to get through.

By Constance M |

I have been to many aquariums. This was disappointing. Some animals were crowded into tanks. Too many people were allowed in at once, making it very crowded and hard to see some exhibits. The cost was very high, I think it was 95 dollars for 2 adults. No senior discounts. I think what bothered my niece and I the most was seeing the very intelligent octopus in a plain, small tank. No caves, no toys, No rocks, no vegetation, nothing to interact with. Clearly the Aquarium was not interested in his welfare. These are SMART animals that form relationships with PEOPLE, for gosh sakes. There was no excuse for this. The large tank that you can walk under was somewhat better. I also lamented the lack of signage or "docents" or videos, SOMETHING to tell us about the threats these animals face. Shouldn't we be educated, not just entertained, or we won't have these animals around in the future. If you want to visit a wonderful aquarium that enterains but also does everything else RIGHT, I recommend the Charleston, SC Aquarium, only 2 hours south of Ripley's. And it's cheaper!

By Malissa Rose Reed |

For the price per ticket, it is not worth it AT ALL! We wont be back. It's expensive for what they have. There is not much to look at. In fact some of the tanks were empty while we were there. They had a "Penguin parade" with only 3 penguins.

By Anthony l |

Hand feed rays for a reasonable price. My granddaughter loved touching these incredible fish. SHARKS! Big and bad as they are, these creatures are an incredible sight. I have trouble walking distances, love the fact there are sitting areas positioned all over. Recommend the glass bottom boat for a birds eye view. Very well maintained facilities, staff super helpful.

By Brady B |

We come here every year when visiting Myrtle Beach. What a great walk through aquarium and located in a really fun location with other attractions to see as well.

By Scherry M |

Not sure what the best part of this leg of our adventure was. Well, feeding the stingrays was probably the best part. The sloths were being fed while we were there, and they were adorable. The goldfish exhibit was HUGE and the shark path/motorized walking exhibit was absolutely, crazy, cool. If you weren't interested in going slow and seeing all there was to see, there was an open walkway on the outside part of the electric walkway where you could hurry through. It trust me when I say the slower path is totally worth it.

This location had plenty of parking. Pre purchasing tickets made entry a breeze. There is so much to do. If you want to see all the shows, come early. Plan to spend a few hours.

If you have little ones, there is hands on activities including jellyfish and seastar touching, as well as the science hands on activities.

The snack spot upstairs is a little expensive, but that is expected.

By Stacy G |

We stopped in because it was rainy & ended up enjoying this aquarium more than we expected! The lay out is neat & walking through the aquariums with sharks, fish, etc swimming around us was a cool experience! Recommend!

By Rizzo305 |

This is a nice small aquarium with lots of exhibits to see. Lots of fish across multiple exhibits. Great for kids and adults.

By Irishvixenn |

This was awful! There are masses and masses of young children with ZERO supervision. The youngest in our group is 12 and it’s all too baby for him. This “aquarium” shouldn’t even be classified as an aquarium. They have like 4 exhibit that’s it. It cost over $200 for a family of five to go, and we spent less than 30 minutes. Everyone was super rude people with their double triple quadruple strollers. Just stopping in the middle of everywhere and letting their kids just run all over. Shove you away push be rude is absolutely unnecessary. There is zero staff anywhere explaining anything guiding reprimanding the parents who are allowing their 3, 4, 5 or 6 year olds to do whatever the hell they want. I truly wish we could get a refund because it was not fun. Nothing that was there was extraordinary. We will never go to a single Ripleys attraction again.

By travelrus |

This aquarium is clean and well lit. Lots of different sea creatures to see. Boards were informative. You could pet the stingrays and a few sea creatures as well. The shark tunnel was a highlight (and very long) as was the jellyfish.

Highlight during December was the Christmas trees. They had one from each state with different ornaments on it. They were all lovely.

Highly recommend.

By Bernard L. Fontaine, Jr. |

We experienced a wonderful array of sea-life from sharks to sloths 🦥. The tanks were filled different fish and the demonstration by the staff and divers was phenomenal. Benches were available to rest and observe the animals in their habitat. Great experience.

By KevinsGirls |

What a lovely aquarium. The best part is the underwater walkway with the sharks swimming by-it’s the highlight of the visit here. Also, the AC felt heavenly in here after being out in the hot humid weather.

By Carol H |

We had a great time here. I would highly recommend for folks who have children. this place was amazing and some of the animals were truly hands on.

By JungleTip |

First, Ripley's Aquarium is simply better than most other aquariums anywhere. The tunnel, the longest. Tremendous. The store is great as well. Yet, the Festival of the Trees is where Ripley's puts up 50 trees for each state plus a few others. The give you a sheet to figure out which tree goes with what saying. Problem is our entire group got tired of searching for the trees and gave up. Nice but the trees were hidden everywhere: tucked in corners, in the dark, in the snack areas, just lost interest. There needs to be more interactivity with maybe a bit of a technology connection. Right now, Ripley's is just a Christmas sideshow. These few things, along with making some incentive ($5 off) could make the festival a "not to be missed" event.

By Michelle W |

While it didn't take a long time to go through, it was beautiful and worth it! My family purchased the Ripley's Aquarium +4 pass and it was worth it for us (kids ages 12 and 9)

By Angelina Y |

Our trip to the Aquarium began with the kindest cashier. I wish I knew her name but she really went out of her way to make us feel welcome. We absolutely loved the aquarium. It was packed!! That I hated but we still had a very nice time. I think the parents had more fun than the children. It was a great experience and we will definitely return.

By rdfishappy |

This was very captivating to our family from ages eight to sixty three. The exhibits were done very well. The tunnel at the end was a surprise and a good one at that!

By Shawn C |

This was an average aquarium. The moving walkway wasn’t on. It was crowded. They had nice displays. I thought it’d be something special since it was a “Ripley’s”, but it wasn’t.

By tena h |

too bad u have to exit thru the store. maybe u can put in a shirt while u dash for the door. I mean thread your way thru the very tight channels allowed for exit!!

By Aneisha R |

Visited and it was a great excursion. They had alot of species. It was very interactive. The penguin and the jellyfish were my favorite. I also liked the location of the aquarium as it was close to the broadway area. We also received a military discount which helped out on the cost of the tickets. You should definitely go!

By Babineaux4 |

Great place to visit when traveling with young kids. Our 18-month old Grandson enjoyed the exhibits. Staff were constantly wiping down frequently touched areas.

By Shades4Beer |

Okay, so I love a good aquarium and this one did not disappoint. This is a modest aquarium with a very easy layout where you and the family can do everything in a morning or afternoon outside of paid activities such as the glass floor boat.

To put it simply, you and your family will have a good time walking around, taking pictures, seeing different sea life and mammals like the sloths.

Five stars, for me, would have included more engaging activities “in-between” the different sections of the aquarium. For instance, maybe Ripley’s could have a local educator giving talks about the animals in different sections or a sip-and-see for parents to have a beverage while walking. A sort of Disney approach to their attractions beyond what is inside the glass tanks. We could have shopped and wandered all day if there were more elements.

By Lipps2015 |

Had a good time seeing all the fish, sharks and jelly fish. The penguins were so cute! It was clean and we had a good time while visiting.

By Kenneth R |

Like being underwater and swimming with the fish What a perfect way to learn about our oceans diverse family. They had crawl tubes were you can be in the middle of an animal exhibits.. What a plus for the children and the child in us adults also. Walking through the glass tunnel was amazing. You are surrounded by fish of all sizes, even some sharks. Truly incredible .

By Gilda B |

Granddaughter was beyond excited to have a Stingray Encounter. Jill, the instructor was kind and very attentive to guests questions and requests. Stingrays swam around her and you could touch and enjoy the rays around you. I would recommend for any child/student with a love for marine life.

By Tabitha S |

Toddler friendly. Perfect for kids on rainy or cold days. Clean and interactive. Close to some good restaurants. Great shark tanks and kids can touch sting rays.

By Lazoog |

I typically like to visit Aquariums and Zoos in different cities, and as such I have seen quite a few. This Aquarium is one of the better ones and so far only the Atlanta Aquarium even compares. It was quite busy during the time we visit, but it was definitely worth the visit. Our 4 year old also thoroughly enjoyed it.

By mel_pink5 |

We've taken the kids to several aquariums around the USA. This one was on the smaller side, however, it felt more interactive than other ones we've been to. The moving sidewalk in the shark tunnels was great. We stayed for the penguin parade and got to see a feeding. There were a lot of people there the day we went, and we went in the afternoon. I'm guessing the morning would be less crowded. I recommend about 3 hours to fully see everything and take in any special events.

By MrHao |

This is a great aquarium with a surprisingly broad offering, great layout, and really engaging exhibits. We really enjoyed our visit!

By Ann H |

We saw sharks penguins fish coral and string rays. We really enjoyed feeding and interacting with the stingrays.

By Lisa S |

On vacation with 3 grandchildren under 6 who needed a break from the beach. We purchased tickets on line and arrived about 1 pm. It was busy but not swamped. We didn’t buy any extras just walked through at their pace. Stayed for one hour and 15 mins. Coolest things were the moving sidewalk, penguin tank and the jellies. So for $200 for 4 adults, 2 kids, 1 free that’s pretty pricey experience BUT on a hot day it was something fun to do.

By kim |

Loved this aquarium. The walk thru tunnel aquarium was amazing. Standing and looking up at sharks and fish swim over head! The penguin exhibit was great! They do a penguin parade and walk two penguins thru the building, adorable. Clean, interactive, lots of info posted. It’s a great way to spend as many hours as you want.

By Mallory Smith |

This is an amazing aquarium. My daughter loves sharks and was in heaven with the amount they have at this aquarium. You can pet jelly fish, rays and they have adorable penguins! I highly recommend visiting.

By Amber H |

We had a blast! We took a 1 and 5 year old and we all had a blast. There were so many great interactive exhibits. The shark area was one of the best I’ve ever seen!
There was plenty of parking and we brought a stroller through with no problem if you don’t mind walking the long way some lol

By Misty E |

My Family and I came here yesterday. We arrived in early afternoon and we were practically the only ones there at the aquarium. Maybe 10 other visitors. It was so awesome that we had the aquarium to ourselves. We throughly enjoyed ourselves. It is all decorated for Christmas and the shark tunnel was awesome!!! There is a really nice gift store inside.

By Aletha C |

They like everyone else is short staffed. The had one person selling tickets on a Saturday afternoon. I enjoy the penguins. It was clean but definitely needs some updates.

By Wayne B |

Very nice place to visit. This would be great on a rainy day when kids are going nuts. Based on the reviews I read, we went at the right time; very few kids and a light crowd. I was disappointed at the sloth visit and penguins, but otherwise, I really enjoyed it. Very ⁹cool to stand in the tunnels and watch the sharks swim above you. Give yourself about 1.5 hrs. Worth a visit for sure

By Trac284 |

While the exhibits were nice it was NOT worth the price of admission! If you have ever been a state aquarium you can definitely skip this. Spend the huge ticket price somewhere else.

By SaraD8705 |

Overall we had a great time at the aquarium. If you are a first responder, they offer a 30% discount on tickets and that’s what makes it worth the visit! If there was no discount I would say it’s overpriced.
I wish there were a few more exhibits but the sharks were very cool to see.

This was the second time my husband and I visited the aquarium. My favorite part is the shark tunnel with the moving walkway. It is simply amazing! You have beautiful fish all around you. You can see a number of large sharks without fear. The penguin exhibit is also great. I recommend you go at feeding time (earlier, many penguins were sleeping.) I liked the fact that there are a number of places to sit down. This place is a wonderful learning experience for children of all ages.

By Bsctl |

I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised how good this visit was. We've been to other aquariums but this seemed a notch above. Well worth the visit. Plus they have sloths which kids love. Don't expect to see those at an aquarium!

By lillybeth7 |

Stopped here on our vacation. Was crowded in some areas but still fun. We go the combo and was worth it. Got to pet a stingray also!

By Trekki |

We enjoyed the aquarium after we actually got inside. For some reason, the line for tickets was extremely slow. The shark tunnel was our favorite exhibit.

By Jennifer H |

It's not worth the price you pay for the aquarium entry fee. I had much higher expectations of such a highly advertised experience. Quite unfortunate as there's not a ton to do in Myrtle Beach when it's raining and this would be the perfect place for families. Look for coupons, if available!

By Becky P |

Was actually disappointed in the overall experience. I think the value was there for me, pretty ordinary.

By Akitry15 |

Came to Myrtle for a family vacation and Ripley's was our first stop. My husband and I came a few years ago and I was really excited to see the new sloth couple and experience the aquarium with my 8 year old. I was pretty disappointed in the experience overall. Most of the exhibits have been taken out and they have little gift shops all over the place. This makes no sense to me since you have to walk through the gift shop to exit. Prices have gone up as well. Over $100 for the three of us to walk in the door. To buy the family picture they take at the beginning starts at $20. They also took out the touch tanks and put in a playground. My child was more excited about that than anything else. Besides the playground, the moving walkway through the shark tanks was where we spent most of our time. It's just so wonderful to not have to worry about walking into someone while you're taking everything in. I got some cute pictures of my child but this will probably be our last visit. There's just not much to see anymore.

By E R |

Overall a good experience. The kids enjoyed all the different fish. They had a tunnel where you are able to see the sharks and other fish.

By countyfare |

Loved the penguins and shark tunnel. Really enjoyed all the wildlife. Place was pretty crowded for a Tuesday, and almost nobody wearing a mask. They do have frequent announcements recommending masks and COVID safety, but even a lot of the employees ignored this. Arrive early for less people, wear your mask, and have fun!

By Kelsey T |

Really fun. It wasn’t quite as large as described but definitely worth the trip. Kids and adults enjoyed. Sloth exhibit was still not open, despite being advertised.

By MarshallHome |

Sharks, sharks, sharks. What my little ones were looking for. They are 5 and 6 and throughly enjoyed looking at all the marine life and learning something about it. They liked the hands on area as well. Seems a bit smaller than I remember but maybe not. All in all a good aquarium and stop.

By MNCandR |

Did this place on a rainy Monday, got to touch the stingrays as they swam by, very soft and interesting feel to their skin. The aquarium has a lot to see and being off season for tourist we weren't pressed for time or rushed. Penguin feeding was interesting to watch as they inhaled the fish. Stingray feeding was also a feeding frenzy.

By Amanda D W |

WAAAAY too crowded during peak season! You have like 10 seconds without someone pushing you to move on. But if you’re there when it’s not so hostile, it’s perfect!!! A good thing for people of all ages!!

By Wayne B |

Every vacation trip to Myrtle Beach we end up here as my daughter (currently 8) loves it. She likes to go early enough in the day that we can buy 1 or 2 servings of food for her to feed the string rays (they sell out quickly). New for this visit was the penguin area that was very nice. There is a penguin experience but they were sold out for the day were were there.

By Tylese |

I enjoyed every minute at the aquarium! The best part was getting on this conveyor belt and watching sharks and different types of fish roam around aimlessly. It goes slow so you feel like you're in there with them and I may have geeked out a bit. Best experience ever and I would definitely recommend for everyone.

By blondie16 |

Good activity for a rainy day. One of the few indoor attractions. Great tunnel to view sharks. Something for everyone.

By Jasmine W |

It's worth going but a little too expensive in my opinion. It was fun touching the stingrays and the penguins were so adorable!

By Kyaw M H |

Have good variety of species. Have stingray petting area. Nice gift shop. Clean restroom available both at top and bottom level. Have photo booth for memorable picture for your family.

By Candace L |

My daughter did the Stingray Experience with Trainer Ryan today and it was absolutely amazing. She loved every minute of being in the water with the stingrays, from feeding them while listening to the different facts about them to being able to put on some scuba gear and swim with them. We will definitely be doing this again next time we visit!! Thank you to Ryan for making this an unforgettable experience!!

By Emily H |

This is our favorite Aquarium to visit. Love how much they've added since our last visit 10 years ago. Penguins, sloths...more touch tanks & 2 awesome play ground areas inside! Our favorite is the danger reef & the stingray touch tank! Will be back next year!

By VirginiaHotelguy |

It's priced higher than it should be, but whatever. Some cool things to see. They even had a "Parade of Penguins" in the afternoon. That was the highlight. Three little penguins being guided past awaiting patrons. That was fun. Won't kill much of your day though. A couple hours tops.

By Richard B |

Awesome visit very clean facility great employees. The sting rays were cool and I would recommend it to all of my close friends

By Jennifer D |

Enjoyed our visit at the aquarium. My little one enjoyed the shark tunnel, pictures with the mermaid, and all the variety of ocean species. Overall it was a great time. The location of the aquarium also has a small village with many stores and food. Hard Rock, Margaritaville and many other stores are located in the same area. So after the aquarium we walked around.

By Yolande M |

The aquarium was worth the money. I had a nice time. The fish were beautiful and the aquarium had a lot of different fish that I had never seen. I highly recommend.

By Brooke W |

Great for little ones our five year old loved it. The gift shop is very crowded. The exhibits are a little lack luster for older crowds. Hope they add a little more about interactions in the future.

By Amy H |

We go to aquariums in nearly every place we visit. This one has got to be one of the worst. Fake plants in every exhibit, so many poorly cared for animals, staff that have no interest in educating the public, it’s a total tourist trap. All the money is obviously focused on revenue and not the animals’ exhibit or educational opportunity. Take the drive somewhere else and avoid the tourist trap. Total waste of money.

By Filippo A |

Like all American attractions it isn't cheap. But it is very well organized and in addition to the fish there are games for children. The aquarium part is very fascinating, in particular the area where the roof is transparent and the fish (including sharks) swim on your head.

By Marideth B |

I thought this was a pretty decent aquarium. Obviously, I’ve seen better aquariums such as the Georgia Aquarium, Newport Aquarium, and the National Aquarium, but the animals here seem to be well cared for. I know Myrtle Beach has a reputation for being one big tourist trap, but the aquarium is worth visiting.

By whaleypo |

There are so many cheap playground type things that kids are drawn to, that the kids don’t want to look at ANYTHING ELSE. I say they are poor quality because they are just made for kids to pile into and get hurt on. We let 3yo play for a few minutes. just climb up and slide down basically. Then peeled him away. ALL HE WANTED was the f. playground. Not even the $5 commemorative shark coin could dissuade him. we went in shark tunnel. Only wanted playground. The shark tube is woefully slow and jammed with persons who do no know what direction to walk. There were idiots walking in the exit and making it a clog. We went back to the playground again. Spent 20 minutes climbing up and sliding down. There were toddlers and 200 lb children in this thing. They were all in the age range but it was highly dangerous. Peeled him away again and still. alllllll he wanted was playground. Even the gift shop, shark tube with lots of sharks, ray touch tank, huge room with rays swimming, no. did NOT care. it was so hot in there too. so we thought lunch would cure him. there is ANOTHER playground in the eating area! please! no more worthless playgrounds. i paid basically 100$ for 2 adults to look at nothing and a 3 year old to play on the lamest play equipment is a hot muggy shed for 1 hour. Avoid until children REQUEST to go.

By gpsboy |

I've lived in Myrtle Beach for over 11 years and I'm a bit embarrassed to say this was my 1st trip to the aquarium. It won't be my last.
This is "off season" so there were no crowds although there's no doubt that it would be very busy during the Summer and especially on rainy days.
The exhibits are well laid out and there is plenty of cool fish to see. One of our favorites was the penguin exhibit. There is even a tunnel where kids and adults can come up in the middle of the penguins (totally covered and safe).
Another great exhibit was the shark tank which, like other aquariums, the sharks actually swim above you.
If you live in Myrtle Beach, there is a resident rate which is 50% off and a great deal.
Even at full price, this is a great time for the whole family!

By Zo C |

I love this aquarium! I was there as part of a mini fun tour for my son’s 4th bday celebration. This aquarium is EXPENSIVE! I don’t think it needs to cost as much as it does. It’s quite ridiculous. With that being said, I still love this aquarium.

By Keith L |

The underwater tube where the sharks are at is on Par with Georgia Aquarium. The Aquarium was not super busy that's why we come here during off season.

By JEN |

We usually aren’t fans of aquariums but did have to see this while we were in Myrtle beach. It was pricey but I think it was a highlight of our trip. The shark tunnel is very cool. Not something you’ll see again

By Alexis |

Nothing Exciting. Thought maybe it would be a super cool aquarium since it was a Ripley’s. It was just a typical aquarium. They had an entire room dedicated to goldfish which I thought was odd. I think the Virginia Beach aquarium is a lot better. I can’t justify the price to go here again. Maybe if you have young kids?

I even did the sloth experience. $100 to take selfies with it. No other interaction. Not worth it.

By World Traveler |

Ok, aquarium. They make sure to try and indoctrinate your kids with their gay agenda signs. There is no reason for it. Won’t be back.

By eplatt445 |

Decent aquarium. Loved how the main tank you could walk through via a tunnel like so fish/sharks were swimming above you and to the side. Lots to see. Glad we made the visit.

By mnkclt |

We have been to aquariums in several different countries and this was our 2nd Ripley’s aquarium. The Myrtle Beach location is about average, better than some but not as good as Gatlinburg or Sydney. I guess the penguin exhibit was my main disappointment, rather small and sterile compared to others. They do offer multi-attraction tickets (loads of Ripley attractions in Myrtle Beach) and a military discount at the box office.

By transplanted vegan |

I think the tickets for this are a little overpriced but they have to feed all those fish! Enjoyed all the exhibits, especially the sharks & penguins. They had a Christmas tree for every state & we enjoyed looking for Nevada & Louisiana & looking at all the others.

By Jen T |

If I could give this a 0 I would. It's not worth the money at this location, a lot smaller than the one in Gatlinburg and seems all they care about is packing the people in. Was a long line to get to the shark tunnel. Had to walk down to temporary exhibit and back to large area with one tank and wait for people in front to move. The moving walkway was not working so people just kept standing not moving on to give others a chance to enter tunnel. Never saw the turtle. Penguins were very disappointing, just all standing in one area not doing anything. At the Gatlinburg location there is an area you can walk outside to view the Penguins swimming. Seemed like there were hardly any fish to see. Very small viewing area of sting rays. Definitely not worth the money to go. Save your money go on a dolphin watching trip or something, probably see a lot more sea life with less crowd.

By daearz77 |

We stopped here with our 9 year old. It is definitely expensive, $112 for 2 hours, but we thought parts of the aquarium were very well done. The tunnel with the sharks and other marine life was one of the coolest I’ve done at an aquarium. The penguin exhibit was very nice as well.

By Angela F |

I agree with the review below. I was disappointed to see so many bulletin board advertisements on the highway to see the penguins and then when we got there, there were about 4 tiny penguins. I think it was overpriced and tiny. It was great to see, just overpriced for what they had to offer, in my opinion. The donuts were really good though!

By Alaura n |

Loved it the tanks and aquariums were amazing, the sea creatures and animals that they had inside the tanks were amazing!

By Tootsie |

Had a great time seeing all different kind of sea life. The penguin 🐧 exhibit was the best! Also if felt like you were swimming with the sharks in the sharks exhibit. Great fun for all ages and great photo opts. Highly recommended.

By swamprat08 |

Spent the mourning and into the afternoon there. A nice variety of fish and other wild life along with shows (now my grand daughter knows mermaids are real) through out the day. Quite a few photo opps. throughout as well as many hands on exhibits. Maybe a little pricey for some, but it still was lots of fun.

By Cryptic_Tourist |

After visiting the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, I was very curious to see how the one in Myrtle Beach stacked up. It was fantastic! We went on a weeknight in offseason so there was hardly anyone there. The exhibits were all well maintained and we quite enjoyed our time here. This spot is great for families!

By Al L |

Like most aquariums, the Ripley's is a great place to take your kids. They are constantly updating and adding, so get there at least once a year to see what is new. This year for me, it was the sloths! I would also suggest a 'parent' trip where you don't have to chase down your kids, but can stop and spend time at each exhibit. FANTASTIC PLACE!

By PaulBeve |

A little pricey for what you get. I was last here probably close to when it originally opened, 25 years ago. At that time my impressions was WOW. Now, it is OK. Overall I think the SC Aquarium in Charleston, SC is far superior.

Back in the day the center of the building, and the central point of the experience was the horseshoe crabs. You can see where it was but it is no more. You were allowed to touch them and I think pick them up.

They have stingrays you can pet and feed. The tunnel you go thru with the sharks and other fish is still neat, however, it use to have a moving sidewalk that moved you thru the tunnel, the sidewalk is there but no longer works. For what they charge to get in they can fix it.

Main purpose for this visit was for the grandkids, 4 and 2 year olds. They loved it.

Most of the educational information is now on tv displays, which is fine, however, one display would handle several different species and the screen would not sat on a species long enough to read everything.

It was very chilly in the building, not comfortable at all.

Not quite what is was back in the day.

By Connector11306283410 |

Loved it here. My favorite part was the penguins. The sloths were cool too. Just enjoyed ourselves..

By Michelle W |

We did not leave ourselves enough time for this aquarium. Sorry to see that the Mermaid show as not being done because of COVID. Other than that little disappointment, everything else was great.

By roxygee63 |

If you love aquariums you will enjoy this. Smaller than others I think but fun just the same. A little pricey but then again it can't be cheap to feed and maintain all the saltwater animals and pay staff. I hope they would offer a family discount so all kids can get an opportunity to experience the aquarium. We did the glass bottom boat ride in the shark tank, that was cool and we learned a lot also by asking questions. Overall glad we went. Lots of photo opportunities and you can feed and pet Stingrays.

By Chris M |

Small aquarium that seemed like a complete bust until we saw the sharks. Still over-priced for what you get, but it was a nice activity for a too-hot summer day. The Broadway on the Beach complex is nice.

By Mark0090 |

Very clean and enjoyable. We spent a few hours here and we would do it again . The walk through tunnel aquarium was my favorite.

By Stephanie Wimbish |

It’s ok. Overpriced for how small it is. I can’t even imagine how crowded it must be doesn’t peak months. Finished in a hour. Kids ages 13, 9 and 6 thought it was ok. Not much has changed in years. Really need an update

By Ann F |

Awesome, very clean and the animals are well taken care of. Too many expensive extras-picture, snack bar, boat ride. Things for kids to do as well.

By hockeygypsy |

It has been a few years since we visited the aquarium. This time we had our 2 and 4 yr old grandkids with us. They had such a good time. This aquarium is geared towards kids and families. They exhibits are well maintained and the layout works. There are plenty of places set up for you to spend your money so be prepared for that. It is a bit pricey but the look on my grandchild's face when she got to sit with the "mermaid" made it worth all the money.

By Beckie P |

The tiny tank enclosing such a huge beautiful octopus is cruel. The shock brought tears to our eyes. Downer for entire visit.

By LostInTime |

Ok. $175 for 4 people to get in. Pretty pricey. It’s also pretty small. We were done in about an hour. That’s pretty steep. It’s also very crowded and you are right on top of others. And no masks.

By Laura |

A fun stop, especially on a not great weather day. Kids did the stingray experience. Definitely worth the money. Emily was great with them and they had so much fun. We were there in the morning and the crowd was very low. Left around noon and it was packed.

By debbie |

For what you pay it is not worth it. The staff seemed over worked and unhappy. I wish I didn’t spend as much as I did, you all should consider dropping the prices or offer specials

By leeharkins1 |

After standing in the rain to buy tickets for 30 minutes. we had to get in line for another 45 minutes to enter the building. Upon entering it was obvious the sole reason for the delay was because they were trying to force everyone into the photo booth for 'souvenir' photos. Afterwards trying to locate different shows or times for performances was near impossible. Other than asking staff for show times etc, the only option was to download an app that didnt work. My grandson and I wondered around and made the best of it all, but I cant see us ever going back. I rated it a three only because he enjoyed parts of it.

By Sightsee23191421725 |

There were things that I liked at the Aquarium like the sharks. It wasn't a good as it was few years ago. We printed out coupons to use. They lady selling tickets gave us a super hard time about using those coupons. Basically ,she said no, we were not going to be able to use the coupons. It was 89.00 for 2 adults. The sloth exhibit was closed due to a private party the day that we went. That was disappointing. The sting ray exhibit had particles/debris floating in the water. In my opinion it was better years ago. It also would be interesting for them to display marine life native to the Carolina's. I don't think we would choose to visit again.

By Allie W |

Loved our visit! We did the aquarium and glass bottom boat. My husband, 11 month old and I loved it! We could have spent all day there walking around. There was plenty to see and do!

By Margarete R |

This has some nice exhibits but it is all about selling stuff at every corner. There is loud music , lots of over stimulation. This is not about conservation or encouraging love of sea life.

By Kira M |

Overall had a fun time. No complaints besides how crowded it was in some areas at times. Will definitely come back with my children one day.

By Debra K D |

The shark tunnel was awesome and the penguin parade was great! Super exhibits, loved the seahorses and the cool jellyfish. My 98 year old Mom loved it tojj on.

By Jamie N |

Wildly crowded, very few and lackluster exhibits, and overpriced. It was so crowded you could barely see things and enjoy. There were only two good parts (shark walk and jellyfish) and the rest of the exhibitions are barely anything. The new sloth experience is two sloths in a tiny exhibit. Not worth the $40+ per adult. Joined by my elderly father and it was difficult for him to get around to see things. Save your money and aggravation.

By millerb |

Really nicely done aquarium, locals get a discount. Penguins are a great addition, the aquarium is set up really well, nice sharks, fish, jelly fish, they have it all.

By DLBinne2 |

Came to Myrtle beach over Thanksgiving, and since it was alittle chilly outside we decided to plan something inside, and thankful we chose to do the Ripley's aquarium on Broadway by the beach. It was an awesome time, and though there were plenty of people we didn't feel crushed. It was very clean, and I observed someone walking around with cleaner cleaning the handrails which was nice to see. The Sharks and different kinds of fish seemed to be well cared for and gave us alot to talk about and observe. The pricing wasn't outrageous and we all left saying what a pleasant time we had had there. Great Job all who work and support the aquarium, keep up the good work!

By Dorothy W |

We loved the Aquarium. Beautiful to see all of the different fish and reptile. Loved to be able to read all about each animal. Loved walking through the sharks. And see the penguins being fed.

By Venus F |

Fun and lots to see. This aquarium had lots to explore, from jellyfish to penguins. My children enjoyed petting the sting rays. It was rather crowded and had long wait times to get in even if you purchased your ticket in advance.

By jenna f |

Overall, an easy visit with some minor complaints. We didn’t care for the layout to get to some exhibits, you can easily miss a few things (stingrays). We took our 2.5 year old, we happened to be there while a class trip was also happening. Hard to avoid something like that but the kids mowed down our toddler.

This would be great if your visiting and the weather isnt great, need a break from the beach, etc. We went as it opened.

By Edward J |

My grandsons favorite place, we can not visit Myrtle Beach without going there. I recommend to everyone

By Michele S |

I am a local so the price was fine. But boy oh boy so they pack us in like sardines!! I was in and out with my 8 ye old nephew in u see an hour because is was over crowded! No one was wearing a mask and with so many unvaccinated children I was afraid. I tried to social distance but it was very difficult. I would have left but I had already promised him that we were going and didn’t want to disappoint him on his visit to see me.

By checker411 |

We visited the Ripley's aquarium in Feb. 2024. It was a bit pricey, but when you go in you get to see a lot for the money. The staff were very knowlegeble and happily answered all of my sons questions. My wife just love touching and feeding the stingray.
She named the spotted one batman. Walking through the glass tunnel was great. We spent a lot of time in that. The restrooms were clean. The gift shop was large. We will return. Recommend

By Joe D |

Ripleys should be ashamed of them self’s all they gave me for a discount from my AARP card was $2.00 and the original price for the ticket was $36.99.

By trishe420 |

No matter what beach i go to, i always check out the aquarium- Ripleys @ MB hands down one of the very best! I love the shark tunnel! Many exhibits to view. The penguins were fun to watch- so was Gabby, the sea turtle. A definite “must” on the tourist list.

By truman111 |

We went here on a Friday morning when they were just opening. Wasn’t much people in line. My party had 2 teen girls and 1 preteen girl. We all loved the aquarium so much that if we are ever back we will do it again. Feeding the sting rays was a hit with all three girls. This became their favorite part of the whole trip! The animals are awesome and what staff we encountered was amazing. Good for ALL ages!!

By Larry H |

I love fish so this was very enjoyable for me. Very clean and well laid out. Lots to do if you have kids. The tanks were beautiful. The shark tunnel was amazing and the penguins were hilarious. We had a great time.

By Alan P |

I feel that it is over price compared to other Aquariums that I have visited in other parts of the country.

By stephpiercey83 |

Not enough exhibits for the price. The penguin exhibit is small and you have to wait in a long line to go through the tunnel to take pictures with them. Do NOT waste your money on the glass bottom boat. The advertisement was misleading. It is just a small boat going over the main aquarium tank.

By Liberty825 |

This was a very nice aquarium with some really nice exhibits. They have a penguin area, jellyfish, octopus, stingrays, sharks, sawfish, sea turtle, a pirate area and lots of fish. The best was the shark tunnel. You walk through a glass tunnel and see lots of sharks, fish and sea turtle. The glass bottom boat ride is the same as the shark tunnel except from above rather than below. We did not do any extras as the price for the aquarium alone was a lot - $40 per person and I had a $2 off coupon. While it was good, we got there right after it opened and were in and out in an hour.

By Beth H |

This Aquarium has an awesome tunnel with Aquarium surrounding it. It was so beautiful and provided a fantastic view of the fish. We really enjoyed the jellyfish exhibit. We also did the glass bottom boat which is $10 pp more. It was cool but really quick. I think it lasted 10 minutes. Overall though this is a great place to visit in Myrtle Beach.

By PhillyJan |

The grandkids absolutely loved this adventure. So much to see and do. Great interactive experiences. They especially enjoyed the Stingray "touch" exhibit and pond. Had to drag them away.
Spend and enjoyable 2 hours.

By reschilling_3 |

We come here every year for the last 9 years, with the exception of 2020. It had always been great, except the last 2 years have declined a little. We chalked last year up to getting back into the swing of things after covid. This year took a big nose dive. We normally get a family Christmas photo taken by a staff member at the tree when you first walk in. Last year it seemed like we inconvenienced them by asking, this year they could not do it at all due to new machines that take the picture instead of a person. This picture is 80% of the purpose to the aquarium.

The packages and options for getting your picture has been greatly reduced as well. You used to be able to get Christmas cards, an ornament, and different packages, but now it is 4 or 5 choices with nothing really fun anymore, and are all over priced $24 for 3 wallets a keychain frame and magnet frame.

Penguins were added to the aquarium in 2020, not much else has changed as far as animals go since then. The touch zone on the first floor has closed and not a giant wooden structure has been built around it. Hopefully something new is coming. The section where you can touch a Jelly fish has been close the last 2 years also.

It is still a fun place to visit, but for our family it is not as fun as it used to be and has lost a lot of its previous charm. For 2 adults and 2 children it was $112 and that is with a coupon for $2 off a ticket.

By Scott W |

The line to buy tickets and get in was the only setback. This was like most aquariums we've visited. There were many different types of fish and area's to view fish. Once you get in, it's worth it. Nothing over the top great, but not disappointing either.

By SteveHicks |

My granddaughter and Daughter in Law came to visit in March for a few days. We decided to go to Ripley's Aquarium and was pleasantly surprised on how much a 2 year old liked this venue. The walk under the aquarium was very impressive alongside feeding the Mantas. My local rate was half of the ticket price along with everyone else's tickets.

By jimoakley |

Interesting place for grandkids to see sea life up close, had a lot of different species of marine life and some big sharks and turtles. We road the glass bottom boat which i thought was pricey for what it was, just a top down view of what you see from the tunnel underneath. The moving sidewalk was not working so the tunnel was crowded with people stopping to loo, thee penguin parade was a joke, but exibit was pretty good. I think the kids (4 and7) enjoyed it.

By Robert W |

My husband and I are senior citizens and have visited aquariums all over the US. This aquarium, we felt, was a toy store with fish. I felt sorry for the young couples with children, they were overwhelmed with places to buy food, candy, stuffed anything. It was completely out of control and took away from the enjoyment of seeing the exhibits. We were in and out within an hour and we did stop to read each exhibit. And at $39.99 a person, wasn’t worth the trip.

By Debra B |

My husband and I visited Ripley's Aquarium a few days ago. We were last there approximately five years ago, and it is pretty much the same. The lines moved along quickly, and for the most part, it was a good experience. I do, however, feel that the admission price is a bit steep for this experience. We paid $68.78 for the two of us and were inside for approximately one hour. I believe families with young children will enjoy this aquarium - just be prepared to pay.

By New Yawker |

Loved the Shark Tunnel and the huge fish tank. There were a ton of families at the Aquarium because of Tropical Storm Elsa but we were happy to have something to do on a bad weather day. Parking lot was huge but it was still difficult to find a spot.

By angel72 |

We enjoyed our visit at the Ripley's Aquarium. Very organized in walking through and clean. We went later in the day and it was not too busy.

By Scuba-Nutz |

I went as a chaperone for my granddaughters first grade, class, and the staff was very friendly and informative!
There were so much there to see, an and learn about!
I especially loved the hands on part of the trip where the kids were able to pet stingrays!
I highly recommend this for all ages!

By Jennifer J |

This aquarium was much like others that I have been too. Nothing particularly great or different. The penguin parade was the only different offering that I saw that was included. A good rainy day activity but wouldn’t go out of my way to see it.

By ellenkay |

Loved this aquarium! Great exhibits of sea life - lot of sharks - fun things for kids although we were all adults I know my grandchild would love it some day. It was just the right size to see it all in a short period of time. We had about 2.5 hrs before we had to leave for airport on our last day in Myrtle Beach; I am so glad we went. It was a bit high priced entrance fee but we did really enjoy it. Seeing the sloths was fun too and the penguin exhibit was also cool.

By Tony F. |

This aquarium was excellent. Lots of land and sea animals to see. I recommend to put this on your bucket list for Myrtle Beach.

By Tom D |

Worth the trip. A couple of good glass tunnels to go through including sharks and rays. Very ocean life oriented. See the giant octopus!

By Karen D |

Overpriced. For the money I assumed there would be a lot more to see. Our zoo costs less and has an aquarium that is nicer included in the price. Stood in line for a long time to see the sharks. There were a ton of people inside so there was barely any place to move and if you got close enough to see something you were quickly moved forward. I would not spend the money on this again!

By Curtis F |

Ripleys facilitys are always GREAT this is the third one we have visited andhad a wonderful time. We look forward to when we can visit another location.

The place was running with a short staff but the staff that did work were so polite and tried their best to make the experience fun. The handler at one of the tanks gave us so much information on where to go since we were on vacation

We really enjoyed this aquarium. There was a lot to see and the kids had a blast! If you want a break from the heat this is the place to be

My favorite part was feeding & touching the stingray. They have a great selection / variety of species.

It was so hot inside and it was so lame my kids did not enjoy it at all. I will not be going back. It was not worth the money

We had a great visit at Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach. We visited Sloth Valley and learned about two-toed sloths. We saw Penguins, Piranhas, Sharks, Stingrays and other marine life. We also saw lizards including a Bearded Dragon. This is a wonderful place that can be enjoyed by adults and children. We highly recommend Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach.

Stopped in with my wife and in-laws. They do not move well anymore, but lots of seating all throughout.

Very nice aquarium. The tunnel was the highlight with the sharks swimming all around. Lots of information on each exhibit.

Only drawback is the price, a little high.

Enjoyed the area where you saw the Sharks and the Penguins. Place could have been bigger and more displays. The gift shop was way overpriced. I loved my photo that was taken. Staff was friendly. Had a great time there.

I first came here in 2010 when I was in elementary school and loved it. This month I came back as an adult and was a bit underwhelmed.

Firstly, the entrance price is not something to sneeze at. I believe it cost about $80 for me and my friend to get in, if I'm remembering right. When you get in they take your picture, which I was a bit startled by, to be honest. Also, they have VERY clean restrooms!

Lots of cool and interesting marine life to see. The highlight was definitely Gabby, the 4.5 foot long sea turtle. The tanks are enormous with lots of places for the animals to hide. This seems like a pretty ethical place, though I haven't done any more research. The conveyor belt you stand on wasn't in operation on the day we went, which was a huge disappointment. There was no out of order sign or anything, so I'm confused as to why it wasn't on.

A drawback to this place is that it's set up like a maze. If you have a specific thing in mind that you want to see, but don't know where it is, be prepared to do a lot of walking and exploring. It's also definitely skewed towards kids. My friend and I were the only party of adults there, aside from two others that we saw. There's nothing in the gift shop to write home about. Didn't try any of the food so I can't comment on that.

Overall, if you're an adult who is crazy about the ocean then you'll probably be entertained. Or maybe you know enough about it that you'll find your visit to be redundant. I don't know you. Definitely a great place for kids, and a wonderful option for a rainy or cold day.

My husband and I had a great time touring the Aquarium located at Broadway on the Beach in Myrtle
Beach. We had some much fun looking at the different exhibits. The Museum
is beautiful inside and the displays are
unique. Ripley’s is senior friendly and child safe. They gear the Aquarium for visitors of all age. The tour was worth every penny. The Aquarium was another highlight of our visit to Myrtle
Beach. Great visit and we recommend it for anyone of any age. Benches and many places to sit. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Fun to visit with family, dates , friends , couples or yourself.

There are so many exhibits that give a quick education about the fish and wildlife in the aquarium. The Penguin exhibit was great fun, and it was a great experience to see the penguin parade. We didn’t have any children with us, but the tunnels threw the water into the Penguin nesting area that kids could go through and get right into the middle of the exhibit with looked like a lot of fun. The dangerous reef tank was absolutely huge and a lot of fun to walk through the tunnel. We spent the entire afternoon doing all the exhibits. It was a wonderful experience.

Overall not impressed. We have been to lots of aquariums in multiple states and this one did not even make the top 5. Nothing special, sharks and stingrays were the only neat part. We where in and out of the aquarium in less then a hour of a half...not worth the money spent.

We were super impressed by this place! We went early in the morning to beat the rush! Loved being able to feed to the sting rays! My four year old said the sea turtle and the penguins were the best! The whole family really enjoyed this experience! The only thing we missed seeing which was on their website was the octopus.

I did the Stingray experience with Hogan and Emilee and it was AMAZING! Highly recommend the add-on and learned a lot. Emilee also took a ton of photos and videos for me thanks!

So my wife and I took our son (young) to ripleys aquarium on our trip to Myrtle Beach. The cost for the 3 of us was 80 dollars. For the price it’s just not all that. Not that big for that price and the only thing that is kind of cool is the penguin place. The shark tunnel was cool but it wasn’t even fully open!! It was okay but overall just not worth the price. If it was half the price that would be way better.

My kids love sea life and aquariums, so this experience was high on our to do list while visiting Myrtle Beach. It was a hot day and nice to get inside for a bit. We enjoyed the shark tunnel and touching manta rays. I do wish there were more exhibits to see as we were through the entire aquarium in less than 90 minutes.

The Aquarium was well worth the money. It was unfortunate for us that it was School day for the children at Ripleys. It was packed with limited time for each exhibit. That is why I rated it 4 stars. Definitely work taking the family.

First to get military discount you have to buy tickets from the attendant. So you wait in a long line. Then you go wait in another long line to get in. Skip the pictures because the chances of having your head cut off is good. Oh and the fact you wait in the long line to get the picture, then latter on when you are on the lower level you wait in another line to pay for your picture, then guess what, you guessed it another line to pick it up. While I waited in line the blonde lady with sleeve tattoos was picking people out of the line and searching for their pictures, mine happened to be in the crate and she looked in the bag looked at me and put it back in the crate. I know that because I watched and when I got up there it was the only one still left in crate and yep it was mine. They had stated pulling them off the printer and not putting in the crate. Rude, but allowed me to hear several people complain how they cut off people. All of them were told they could not do anything downstairs they had to go upstairs and guess what….wait in another line. The place was so crowded we were literally shoulder to shoulder. Adults would crowd up front and our little granddaughters could not see. We would wait and then others would push in front. There were a couple of places you can crawl through a tunnel and pop up in the penguin area or different fish aquariums. There is an entrance and exit and kids would not wait in the long lines would crawl through the exit. So it caused a few issues the girls already in one we were going to take pictures then up pop three boys in the tiny space. The girls were unsure what to do. Also lights are positioned that gives a horrible glare so some pictures you can’t even see girls. The sloth exhibit is neat. I had never seen a sloth up close. Although they were sleeping it was neat to see and actually people didn’t stop to see them. Most of the little aquariums were to overrun with people to get any pictures. The people mover through the fish tunnel was nice just give your self space because people forget about personal space and would try to squeeze you together. Lucky I stayed put when the people in front of us started walking faster, this allowed space to breath. It was neat to see so many shark, we got a glimpse of the sea turtle (best part of the day) and a few other really neat aquatic life during the experience. There was a little climbing area that had a small slide. Super small. HUGE instructions said for ages 4 to 12. I think I only seen one parent go in but tons a little ones were inside. I seen what appeared to be a three year old trying to pull the 18 month old up the stairs to the slide. Also, children of today are not taught how to wait their turn, kids would push in front of our girls time after time, so after two tries we moved on. Our final stop was the sting ray touch tank. The girls finally was able to get up to the water and although we were up there maybe 5 minutes the sting rays came around but the water was to deep and the girls actually never touched one. There was a sign that said you could feed sting ray for $5 when I asked I was told they ran out of food. The exit through the gift shop was again so crowded that it was difficult to actually browse what they had. Overall HUGE disappointment, but on a day when it was 56 degrees and rainy we didn’t have a lot of choices to do in the area. I would NEVER recommend even if you are stuck in summer with the same situation. Go buy a fish puzzle, pizza and head back to your resort you will enjoy yourself much more than here!
