2 of 7 Best Attractions in Lookout Mountain

We visited Chattanooga to attend a fan con at the convention center. We were there to meet one celebrity, Catherine Bell and were only there about an hour. When we left I suggested we "See Rock City". We'd been there over 3 decades ago so why not see it again. It is a lovely drive up the mountain. Once you get to Rock City there is a village atmosphere with a few shops. We went to the ticket booth where we were told it was $43 per person but that if we booked online it would be about $32, which we did. We walked the trail which was decorated for Halloween. At the end of the trail you come out at the overlook and it is a stunning view. Seven states off in the distance is a pretty great high point of the walk. It was a lovely sunny day so all was clearly visible.

Winding road to arrive (and descend), very nice attraction. The entire site was paved and easy to access, able to do own pace with limited time entries. Adorable gnomes throughout and wonderful photo opps. Worth the visit!

Wow! Absolutely worth the visit! Views are breath taking. The rock formations are beautiful. I loved that many of the trees were labeled and the pathways were beautiful. I enjoyed searching for gnomes and seeing the Mother Goose area. I highly recommend coming here.

OK, I was pretty skeptical about going to Rock City. I had decided it was a tourist trap that I didn't need to see. Boy was I wrong. I mean, it is a bonafide tourist attraction, but it's so well done, and the views are so spectacular that you just can't help but like it. I was totally surprised at how much I enjoyed The Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme section. They had a display for every nursery rhyme you've ever heard or read to your kids, and they were so, so incredibly well done that even an old curmudgeon like me found them impossible not to like. I was so proud, too, that I made it through Fat Man's Squeeze without getting stuck! Even the lunch our group of 20 had there was surprisingly good. Don't write this place off as just a tourist trap. Go see if for yourself. Be advised, there are a lot of steps between the two levels.

We were here in 2013 and it is much more commercial now. It is very crowded but OK. It is for the young at heart as there are many stairs, walkways, hilly areas, and not wheelchair accommodating. The views were very good .....and many places to eat and buy drinks.

Amazing panoramic views fantastical hidden pathways and enchanted experience. My three children were ready for hobbits from Lord of the Rings to appear at any moment. Highly recommend being there at park opening; it was extremely peaceful and quiet and we basically had the place to ourselves for the first hour.

Stopped at Rock City on our way to Georgia for a week vacation. The views from here were amazing and even got to enjoy a nice cold local beer while taking in the views. amust see if you are in the Chattanooga area for any reason.

TAKE THE TIME to visit this treasure not too far from Chattanooga! This park will delight kids & adults alike. We loved the easy stroll to the Lookout over 7 states and were entertained by the sweet ode to Nursery Rhymes. Get there early, as I suspect summer crowds will impair the magic!

We were blown away with this excellent world class tourist attraction when we thought it couldn't get any better we turned the corner only to find an even better favorite highly recommend

What a great morning on our way to the Smokies! We planned a stop in Chatanooga, TN on our drive from Houston, specifically for this attraction.
Our family (12, 10, & 7 years old + us) had a great time walking through the site. The pathways were easy to navigate (not stroller or mobility-challenged at all), the rock formations were impressive, views were spectacular, and the history of the location was so interesting!
We arrived at 10am, and left around 12:30pm. We could have spent longer, but we're on our way out to our Smokies cabin.
Starbucks at the base was fun for the adults. The cafe at the lookout opens at 11am, so we chose to keep moving on, grabbing treats at the Fudge Shop back at the base.
The gardens were so peaceful & unique. The rock formations were fascinating for all of us. Very fun (narrow!) walk-throughs. The Fairyland Caverns were different and fun! Signs throughout the attraction explain the rich history, from founding to developing the area.
I completely recommend this as an outing - either driving through or if you live close. All three of our girls specifically commented on how cool the place was for them, as it was for us, too!

Everyone all ages will enjoy this place. We were pleasantly surprised by self guided tour. Highly recommend to all. A slightly better story in the guide map would help.

Awesome experience. It is truly very beautiful and paths are very easy to follow. Great for the whole family (just don't bring strollers since there is lots of stairs throughout the regular path; I think there was another path that was stroller friendly but you had to miss most of the beautiful paths). There was so much to see. It is a timed entry and I suggest purchasing the time of your visit online. We spent aprox 3 1/2 hours. My 3 year old kids had lots of fun also. Waterfall is very impresive and the views are just wonderful. Definitely worth it and a must do!!!!

Stopped there many times as a kid as we made our way back home from FL every year. Years later as an adult I still love it. We were there a few years ago for their Christmas lights and returned this year with friends in early March. You get different experiences in the different seasons. Great views, interesting rock formations and places to relax. Words don't do it justice, you have to check it our for yourself

It is necessary to pay attention to weather conditions. Because you don't want to ruin your day. A nice interesting place. A place worth visiting.

I hadn't been to Rock City in almost 40 years, so I decided I was due to return. Nowadays it's a single trail that leads you from location to location, whereas I could swear that before you could roam freely in multiple directions. But I appreciated the trail as it ensured I could see everything. My favorites are the ones you often see mentioned: swinging bridge, Lover's Leap and the lookout, fairytale caverns and the Mother Goose village (or whatever it's called, it's in the caves as well). It's a fun little walk with lots of things to see.
Probably not recommended for those with mobility problems or bad knees. There is an accessible trail with no steps, but it misses many of the sights. You do get to see Lover's Leap, though, but not the bridge or the caverns or much of the other sights. Also I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with claustrophobic as there are some narrow, low, and cramped areas to walk through. It's not like you're crawling around or anything but if you're claustrophobic I think it would be pretty uncomfortable.

We visited Rock City in December 2023 on a weekend night. It was dark as it was at night. Even with Christmas lights everywhere it was not bright enough to walk on such uneven rocks. We had 5 adults and a 2 year old. We walked slowly and towards the Toy Soldier display when my Mother In Law fell over the shin height rock wall. She fell in between two rock walls to where she was hanging 20 feet in the air. My husband and son jumped over on to a rock ledge to help her up. Had she fell to the ground she most likely would of died. Had
my husband or son fell helping her they most likely would of died as well. We were all shook up including our 2 year old Granddaughter. We called for help and Rock City came to help. One of the younger female workers stated, “I can’t believe this happened again!” One of Rock Citys Managers was there and she gave us her card. (Note: We have reached out several times to talk about the incident. They sent us to their insurance company who has since denied any wrong doing.) We took my Mother in Law to the hospital for the cuts on her back and for her bleeding head. Just beware if you go there as this could of been your child or parent that this happened to. Not taking responsibility for someone getting hurt on your business is not good especially when you have dangerous spots where people have fell at or around before. As a side note… We went back to Rock City on a different date in January to take pictures as well as to take measurements. They made us pay to come in to do this. So again, just beware. We are lucky that no one fell to the ground. A child fell back in the early 2000’s. How many more have fell or hurt themselves? How many more have to fall before Rock City puts safety rails up all over their attraction for our safety?

Rock City was a beautiful place to visit. If you're in the area, be sure to add this on your list of things to do. It will take you about 45 minutes to travel through the trails, but it's well worth it.
We would suggest going later in the afternoon/evening in order to miss the crowd and fully experience it. Be sure to check out our blog on our profile for a full review.

Ok, is it worth the $27.00 on a weekend with live music? Not really. It was not like music was all over, it was just a few spots.
But the regular price for regular offerings I would do again. A beautiful landscape area with a lot of terrain changes. Parking is free. We enjoyed the walk out to the 7 states plaza but no pay telescopes available so that was a disappointment.
Still very nice place. Make sure you see the fairy tale gardens. It was worth the whole walk.

Everything about our day was perfect. Well laid paths, good signage, clean. Natural beauty is breathtaking. A lot of walking, but not strenuous. Go at your own pace in most areas. There are some narrow spots to squeeze through, but I am plus size (18/20) and fit. There are other routes available for wheelchair/strollers.

This was a very unique place to visit. Some beautiful rocks and lookouts and quirky characters and storybook areas. The admission price was a bit steep. Overall, we enjoyed it and really appreciated that it was dog-friendly! More attractions should be!

This is a very cool place. I thought it was just a bunch of tourist hype, but the rock formations are amazing and the scenes from the over look are beautiful.

Rock City offers great views of Lookout Mountain with out the “hike.” However, it gets a bit story book and gnomey at the end I assume to make it worth the money. They could have kept it simple with out it. I’m glad we did it: the bridge, the waterfall and looking out over 7 states.

Rock City worth a trip?
No. It's not. For the price it is a big let down. The view is great, but a similar, if not better overlook, is at Lookout Mountain National Park for a fraction of the cost.
Rock City is lots of big rocks with stairs going up and down between them. Be aware, if you have mobility issues, you will have trouble navigating some of the trail. If someone in front of you on the trail has mobility issues, you will wait in a long, long line like a centipede to navigate the rock formations.
The last thing guests are subjected to before exiting Rock City is a room size diarama of multiple childhood nursery rhymes. Fun for the kids, I guess, but lacking any real must-see interest.
I'd give Rock City a pass. Find something else to do.

Main reason to visit was to look at the states from the lovers loop rock but We went in a cloudy day and it was impossible, only fog in our view. The park is beautiful but I think is so expensive for the experience…

This is a classic Chattanooga experience. The park continues to adapt, like adding a handicap/stroller accessible path from the front gate to the iconic cliff top views of seven states. The food at the snack shop is reasonably priced and moderately good. But (of course) the views steal the show!

Very cheesy. Long lines, confusing signs, not amazing views.
We visited on March 14th with timed tickets purchased online. There were very long lines with very little order. We were not let in until after 4:00. The first section of the walk on narrow paths was so crowded you had to stop and wait to move forward. Not much to see. When we made it to the view with waterfall they’d put green die in the water for St Patrick’s Day. Observatory area was very underwhelming.
I couldn’t wait to get out of there after the green waterfall. The signage to get out was confusing.
If you are a nature lover, skip it! If you want to see the waterfall, look at a pic online. Much more impressive in pics.
Take the incline instead to see view or go to Ruby Falls.

When visiting Rock City with your family, it's important to be prepared for a few things. If you have small children who are new to walking or are in a stroller, be ready to do a lot of carrying. Additionally, since Rock City is located in Georgia, it can get quite hot in the summer, so dress appropriately and make sure to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. Despite there being lots of steps up and down, there are handrails to assist you. If you need to take a break, there are plenty of spots along the way to rest and use the restroom. Don't forget to bring a fully charged phone or camera, as there are many picturesque spots to capture. Also, consider bringing some pocket change to make wishes along the way and to use the binoculars to enjoy the views from the top.

What a beautiful place! Really enjoyed the stroll through the gardens, amazing views. A definitely must do in Chattanooga.

Beautiful views in an incredible God designed mountaintop with detailed & definition man built to enhance the great atmosphere & views of the mountain - the rocks - the trees - the flowers. Great trails & easy to traverse.

First time visit to Rock City along with my family. We loved this site! I have two young boys, and this was an excellent way for them to see some beautiful nature scenes in safe way. All of the trails were very well maintained, and it was so fun seeing how each one built upon the next. While it was a hot August day, there were plenty of shady places to rest. We will definitely visit again!

Overall a neat place but beware with children, especially young children. The rails are low in some areas on the trail with very high cliffs. Some of the walls were only knee level with steep drops on the other side. A child could easily climb over. The swinging bridge had openings that a child could fit through.

I’ve visited Rock City several times, dating all the way back into the 1970’s. I have always loved the place, although it is quite different looking at it from an adult’s eyes. I still enjoy it, but for different reasons.
The views and the natural beauty are magnificent. Of the things that I appreciate more and more, the scenic nature of the place is what I most appreciate these days. The view from Lover’s Leap is the most common place that folks like to view, but I prefer the view where you can see Lover’s Leap above, and the waterfall alongside Lover’s Leap.
Mother Goose Village was the highlight as a little kid, and it hasn’t aged as well. However, I did enjoy the fact that “In The Hall Of The Mountain King” was playing on repeat in an area of their “Hall Of The Mountain King.”
I’d give it five stars, but it seems just a tad too pricey. I’ll go wherever I’m in the area, just for the sake of nostalgia, but I will look a little warily at the price.
Sadly, I don’t see it as captivating for today’s kids as it was to me all those years ago. If you want to take kids, I would say you would want them to be able to read, but still as young as possible; the eerie glow of Mother Goose Village needs to catch the attention of kids, and I don’t see it doing that well with older children.

The walking paths were amazing. I've seen "See Rock City" ads since the 70's and always assumed this was a questionable tourist trap. It is not! This is definitely worth a visit. Basically you get in, then take a more or less self-guided tour through a bunch of pathways that go over, under, and through the rock formations.

The swinging bridge was fun and the view from the top was fabulous. Getting through some of the rock formations were interesting too. Neat to see but overpriced, especially on the weekend. Definitely get your ticket online - $5 more if you don't. Would give 3 1/2 stars if I could. Fairyland was definitely for kids - if they aren't afraid of the dark. We thought it was a little hokey.

November to January they light up the trails for the Enchanted Garden of Lights. Beautiful! Huge amount of lights and trails added since I was there last. 10 stars!!!

Love this place! You can choose your paths from easy to harder. My kids loved the swinging bridge and the fairytale cave. Great experience.

Nice view. Be prepared to walk. See the schedules and plan ahead. Would recommend first finishing the Ruby falls. Tickets sell out fast during holidays and do it online if possible.

Rude employees. They have advertised on visitchattanooga.com (the visitor center for Chatt) a $1 off admission. It states you must print and present at ticket office. The guy refused to honor it saying they don’t take coupons. I then called the visitors center and they said Rock City is the one who submits that to their website. So I went and spoke to another employee who said she won’t accept it but if I wanted TO GO to my hotel (staying at Airbnb) and get a travel host coupon book, they have $1 off in it! How terribly rude customer service. All over $1! It’s overpriced as it is and ran by teenagers. There was no one at the ticket entrance working and people were just walking through! Glad I’m honest even though they were being petty. In this bad economy they should be thankful people are coming in 100 degree weather to this!

thought this place was an excellent value overall. We spent about 3hrs and it was a very enjoyable experience. Peaceful, relaxing and pretty!

Fun attraction that you could do again and again. Very fun walk, with nice views. We spent an hour and a half there walking the paths. There is a free wine tasting and some restaurants on site as well.

I honestly wanted to give Rock City a higher review, because I know that so many people are negative now days and give bad reviews for little to no good reason. I think my disappointment boils down to the price I paid for the experience we received. It cost our family of 4 over $100 to see Rock City. We truly only enjoyed seeing the Lovers Leap waterfall, walking across the suspended bridge and squeezing between the giant boulders on the walking path. The fairy tail areas and random gnomes would have been much more appealing to younger children. Mine are 14 and 17 and found them to be cheesy. $100+ dollars is a lot to spend when it's a true 10 maybe 15 dollar experience. I guess I would just caution anyone with older children that this might be a big bust for them and a huge waste of money.

We enjoyed this attraction. It is self guided so you can move at your own pace. We had a 5 year old with us and she enjoyed it very much.

Been 30 years since I last slipped through Fat Man Squueze and did it with the same ease as my youth. It really is an inexpensive half day adventure. Kids, especially will love wandering the passageways and through the fantasy lands hidden beneath.

Very few choices of ticket times were available online for Labor Day weekend. We drove to Rock City on Saturday night and purchased tickets for Sunday morning. This actually allowed us to see the parking area and determine a more direct path up Lookout Mountain from our hotel. Starbucks is very close to the entrance of Rock City but be prepared for a line. This is a fun destination to see plants, rock formations and gnomes. Be sure to spend time on the observation deck (lover’s leap), the view is amazing. There are two tight squeezes through rock formations which might cause anxiety. We witnessed a visitor mentally struggle when he saw the tight and narrow pass at needles eye. We waited on the other side and encouraged him through the tight space. He did it! If anyone is claustrophobic, it could be an issue. A wheelchair will not fit through some areas so there is a path more ADA compliant, be sure to seek it out if needed. There was a presentation of birds of prey happening as we examined the Tom Thumb golf sample.

First I want to say that the view is fabulous. The trails through the park are very difficult to follow. There are many interesting things to see along the trails but the view is in my opinion the best part. If you want to get to the overlook fast take the handicap trail. The other trails wind around and cross and the map showing the trails is not easy to read.

We are so glad we did this!! Ignore any negative reviews! This place is AMAZING! Everywhere you turned, there was something neat to look at! Very well ran, you have to buy your tickets online. The day we went it was foggy but that didn’t matter for rock city because there was so much else to see! We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Rock City, no pictures will do it justice:)

Lovely spot, nice paths, lots of rocks and foliage, fun swinging bridge, lots of black lighted nursery rhymes, beautiful waterfall, terrific views

Rock City is atop Lookout Mountain, about a 5 mile drive up from the main highway in Chattanooga. Do not confuse this with the Incline Railway, which is in an entirely different location. It was an easy drive from my hotel in Chattanooga- about 10 minutes or so- to the turn off. Once you startup the mountain you come to Ruby Falls first. I asked for directions there, and was told "follow the black and white signs about five miles up the mountain." The directional signs are located at frequent intervals and easy to spot. The road is narrow and curvy, but not heavily traveled or scary for those not accustomed to mountain roads. Once you reach Rock City there is ample parking, and restrooms located outside the entrance. Inside there are a variety of rock formations and stunning views. There are food options inside the park- I ate delicious fish tacos at Cliff Terrace. They also have a water cooler with ice water available. Also at Cliff Terrace there are rocking chairs in the shade, placed so you can rest while enjoying the lovely views of the valley below. Allow about 2 hours for your visit.

Yep something for everyone. The trail takes you in and out of unique cool looking rock formations.
Plus there are great views of the area. Add to that a long suspension bridge and a water falls.
Add to that Fantasy land geared to nursery rhymes and kids but neat for everyone. What’s not to like!

This was my first visit to Rock City. I visited specifically to see the holiday light display. The lights were absolutely gorgeous and the Christmas music playing was divine. I especially loved the Fairyland Caverns and the Mother Goose Village. My only complaint were the hundreds of children screaming and running all over the place, some too young to appreciate what they were experiencing. They ruined the calm the lights and music would otherwise achieve. I would be willing to pay 4x the cost of my ticket if Rock City offered an adult-only night(s). Otherwise, this is a one and done. I would not return.

The views were spectacular. However, the map of the two trails available was not done well. The trails only intersect at a few places, and my husband had to get the help of a staff member to find a route to the second trail . Their signage could definitely be improved.

Everything seemed to be going well in the beginning of our trip, but it all ended in disappointment. We purchased two tickets online for the 5:30pm entrance and figured that it would be enough time to walk through the whole park and especially to see the fairyland portion at the end of the park. When we arrived, we were given a map and then started down the path. At one point we stopped for a little bit to have some wine at the one pitstop along the way before the falls section. Unfortunately, at just before 7:00pm we found ourselves at the beginning of the park again but had not seen everything that was on the map. When we asked where the fairyland caverns were, we were told that it closes early because it is dark in that area. To say we were surprised and felt cheated would be an understatement. The website says that the park closes 1.5 hours after last entry, and last entry is listed as 7:00pm, so that is 8:30pm according to my math. It seems to me that the last 1/3 of the park was actually closed early than 7:00pm since we were walking out of the "detour" trail to goes to the beginning by that time. After reviewing the information on their site to make sure we didn't miss some notice about parts of the park closing early, we had called their support line and was told that it is a common issue to hear from people, especially since the Flora Luna event is going on. Why that has anything to do with our tickets for 5:30pm is beyond me. We were told to write a review or email them, so I first emailed to see if we could resolve the problem. I was told via email from the "Guest Relations Manager," that essentially this was just too bad and since Flora Luna was going on we were able to experience that for "free." That response was utter bull because the Flora luna event actually started at 7:00 pm and we were already getting ready to leave because we didn't go there for Flora Luna. I was also told that this information was found on the "Flora Luna FAQ", but after checking again there is nothing on the FAQ that points out these odd rules of parts of the park closing and when, so I don't know what she is talking about. I sent all of this information over hoping for some kind of resolution or offer to alleviate the situation to some degree, but it appears it is just not important for her or this establishment to deal with. I just don't understand why it is so hard for places that have provide poor service and unclear expectations to their customers to even try to do the right thing when it is taken up with them. I am not here to tell anyone how they should run their business to make profit. They can shut down parts of their establishment whenever they want and for whatever reason. I just think it is disingenuous to not tell paying customers about things that will clearly affect their visit. Not only that but to then not even attempt to make it right when clearly pointed out.

For 53 years I have driven up and down 75 and seen all the ‘See Rock City’ signs/barns/mailboxes/birdhouses… but had never seen it. Well, today was the day. Is it touristy? Yep. A little cheesy? Yep. BUT it IS a lot of fun. It’s a pretty good walk but if I can do it anyone can. I am 6’3 300# and also made it through the eye of the needle and the fat man’s squeeze (barely, seriously… but I made it.) Once you get through the maze of rocks and paths, the overlook is amazing. Beautiful.

We really enjoyed our visit to Rock city. The rock formations were amazing. We weren’t sure what to expect, but it was beautiful. If you have little ones, there is something for them also. A fun gnome and mother goose area, along with artsy red doors.

We've visited Rock City before during the day but it is even more magical at night when they have their holiday lights set up. The garden has tons of lights and they've created themed areas around the park. We spent 2.5 hours walking around and still felt like we could have stayed longer if the kids weren't starting to get tired. They also sell food so you can make an evening of it.

This “great tourist trap” IS a GREAT tourist trap! If you’ve not done “SEE ROCK CITY,” do! we had before but came specifically for the Christmas lights and were not disappointed! Great displays - very enjoyable! Very pretty! Not sure we saw seven states but was a pretty early evening and we did see a long ways!

I tossed up between Rock City and Ruby Falls but knowing how a teen reacts to being talked at through a tour, we went for this and what a hit. Not too long, phenomenal views, interesting rock formations meant hit for teen and parents. Well cared for area and credit to the family firm involved.

Yes, it’s touristy. But the views are phenomenal and the history of why it was created is amazing. There is also some unique art throughout and of course many gift stores and places to grab a quick bite or drink.

On a last minute whim Father’s Day weekend
We decided to take a chance , so n my any years of seeing the signs growing up yet had never been . Cost approx 29$ adults we went on Saturday so possibly less expensive on weekdays. It’s an expansive park with rock mining , bird shows, live music in some locations .. beer is sold ( thank goodness!!!) you send guide yourself , it was beautiful and sirene albeit the many screaming kids snd hordes of what looked to be family reunion groups . You must remember how long ago these things were made / discovered it’s a amazing arm honestly . I enjoyed our trip enough I may go back for Christmas!

Don’t rely on Uber or Lyft to take you back!! They pickled us up in Chattanooga by the convention center, however, it took a long time to get a ride back and it was triple the price at 2pm on a Thursday

This could be an over the top experience but they have chosen not to use their dollars to make improvements. The lights and decor are extremely dated. The landscape is jaw dropping but the park and lights need alot of help.

We went early, when they opened on a cool November morning. We enjoyed all the trails, the rock formation was awesome. And because it was day time, the Xmas lights were off, but I think they could’ve been on. There were some lights on (at a few areas), but I think it would’ve been nice to have the Xmas lights on. The kids area, was just as awesome as the 5 state view area. Very neat experience.

This park highlights the natural beauty of the mountain, vista's and rock formations. We spent about 1.5 hours going through the well laid out, well signed Park. There are plaques giving historical details, artistic details such as colorful glass and painted doorways that enhance the natural beauty, and the whimsy of the Fairy Land area. You get some steps in, so wear walking shoes. Beautiful overlooks and countless photo opportunities. You can reserve your time slot and purchase tickets in advance. We went around 9:30 when they first opened and were glad we did, as it had gotten much more crowded by the time we left. We didn't eat, but there were several cafe areas, both at the vase and en route that looked appealing. We thoroughly enjoyed this park.

We loved this placed. This was by far the coolest and most fun place we visited while in Chattanooga. It takes about an hour and a half to get through rock city. So many cool things to see and great for kids. We also ate at big rock grill and we had the cheesesteak sandwich and the chicken fingers and the potato soup and all of it was really good, the fries were just OK.

Went there with my teens and had a nice time. It will take to cover the entire park about 2 hours. The ticket is a bit steep for what this place has to offer. A few spots within the rock are good especially the Fairyland Caverns. The lookout point is also good. The seven state point is a scam, nothing worth except for a photo-op of the sign. Okay but not worth all the hype.

Great trip. Could spend the whole day there on the different trails. Make sure to buy your tickets 24 hours in advanced or you will pay double at the gate. Only 1 path was wheelchair accessible. All the shops are a bit pricy. Still great views and great pictures all around. Was told it is even better during Christmas season. Highly recommend everyone do a walk through at least once. Will go again next time we are in the area.

Was pleasantly surprised. Crowds were controlled and it was not overly commercialized. Enjoyed the experience in a beautiful fall day. Liked the fall decorations.

We’ve visited Chattanooga many times from ATL and this is my new favorite excursion. We were with elementary age kids who think hiking is absolutely boring. There are so many visually interesting twists, turns, art/light installations, and spectacular scenic views on the paved paths it is impossible for anyone at any age to be bored. Oh excursion took a little over an hour, and the kids really loved the fairy land caverns with the different nursery rhyme installations built into the caves. If you’re going to do one thing in Chattanooga, this is it!

If you’ve never been to Rock City, you simply cannot fathom the amount of work involved in building an attraction of this magnitude. The countless stones stacked and laid to join the natural formations throughout the property is a must see. The size of the stones, and the crevices to walk between them is an awesome site as well. The attraction itself is probably a hundred yrs old, and has been visited by millions.
Once you get to the lookout point, take your time and take in these breathtaking views, that go forever. You won’t get these opportunities often, as few places in the eastern US can rival such a site. They say the entire tour can be seen in as little as 90 mins: But in my opinion, take your time and take it all in. We spent about 3 hrs there, and probably still missed something.
Rock City is a must see if you’re visiting the Chattanooga area, and can be visited along with Ruby Falls(another area favorite) all in about a 5 to 6 hr day.
Note: This attraction can be enjoyed by all, but with a few precautions. Due to the time most of the attraction was built, the safety railings and such aren’t exactly the safest, or most modern around. I also find em to be a bit low in most cases. If you have little ones, please be extra careful… All n all, Rock City is a must see for all: Especially if you’re looking for a killer view!

THIS is what one envisions when they think of the mountains of Georgia and Tenneessee! Talk about spectacular panoramic views! Everything is so green and inviting. The way this property is laid out, it leads you from one jaw dropping picture spot to another. It was fantastic! Plan to be here for a couple of hours - at least. This is definately one of those places where I think visiting at different times of the the year would offer a completely different experience. I can't imagine how amazing this place must be in autumn.

This was such a nice visit! I have a 15 year old and a 8 month old and they both enjoyed it. The trails are mostly covered by trees and walking through caverns so even on a warm day it felt mostly cool. The views were spectacular and lots of great places for pictures. We went on a week day so it wasn’t overly crowded but I can see that could be an annoyance if it was as there are a lot of tight spaces and one way walks. Definitely recommend a visit for your family.

Great day at Rock City.... Spectacular views.. We were lucky enough to visit on a clear day and could see all 7 states... The flowers and rock trails were very nice....friendly and courteous staff... Live music scattered about in various locations... nice place to spend a few hours

It's a little touristy but actually really cool. There is a lot of walking, but the view is worth it. Within the attraction, there is a cute little restaurant with good cocktails. We really enjoyed our time at Rock City.

Fantastic natural beauty at the top of Lookout Mountain! Great family fun! Experience scenic views with a hint of nostalgia with the old, original fairytale scenes!

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was great. Awesome setup with plenty of places to stop and rest. the views the views the views. Pictures don’t do it justice. Oh the fairyland at the end was well done. Go visit this

The entire lookout mountain experience is a bust. Rock city is a privately owned tourist trap that charges $37 per adult and $27 per child to look at the view. Can see 7 states, really? Walk around a bit to see the falls, whoopee! Don’t forget to stop at the Starbucks before you leave, just like all the soldiers that died up here that needed a good latte.
Point park is ran by the NP service. I suspect from the rangers attitudes that it is a punishment assignment, helpful? Not even a little. Worth the additional $10 to walk around an acre or 2, nope. Parking free? The little parking lot is but if you park on the road it isn’t free.
Chattanooga and the states of TN and GA should be ashamed for pushing this off as a must see. Visiting a civil war site should be solemn and reflective, not a commercialized cash cow for the greedy

It’s enjoyable but expensive for less than 2 hours, especially when compared to the Tennessee Aquarium. Private parks can be unpredictable. This one is really clean and well maintained, at least for the beginning of the day before crowds showed up. The trail also has several restrooms along the way so no pressure to go at the start. The trail is doable for younger kids, and there’s enough to keep their interest. I was surprised that some of the higher parts didn’t have higher railing. One family was nervous about their active young kids falling over edges. Visibility was too low the morning we went to see the 7 states. There was quite a lot of shade and caverns and tunnels that made the park feel cooler than the parking lot. There are wet areas so wear appropriate shoes. The attractions are mixed between a few natural formations and planned, man-made features. The man-made ones are colorful. It is a very well defined path, so there’s no straying or “hiking.” There’s 3-4 narrow points that I imagine can be hard for some people to pass. You’ll have to duck several times if you’re tall, too. I really liked the sounds of the water features and relaxing music they played. The fairytale attractions were cute. It was fun to share it with a kid but I’m not sure I would’ve enjoyed this as a middle aged adult without kids.

Rock city gardens is a beautiful walk on top of lookout mountain. Lots of nice views, beautiful plants, underground paths. Really nice 90 minute walk.

Got the annual pass and went during the daytime and to the enchanted garden of like mom-thurs. you can go anytime with an annual pass. It was very cool and you wind through the gardens using a path. The enchanted garden of lights is a must do. Most beautiful Christmas light display!

I went for the holiday lights experience. It was awesome and so expansive, but I was so lost. Having newcomer tourists explore in the dark is not the easiest. There needed to either be active volunteers to guide the way or a map to assist! If that is improved, I would highly recommend going!

Visited Rock City and loved it…but wanted to focus on Fairyland Caverns.. I honestly was not at all aware of this portion of Rock City. So amazing and well constructed. The history of the exhibit is described well but the figurines and displays were outstanding and took my breath away…I’ve always adored classic fairy tales and seeing them brought to life was so impressive
The other portions of Rock City are well reviewed and worth seeing…but definitely do not miss Fairyland Caverns

This place was awesome!! I come from Oregon and this was one of my favorite stops on our trip. There was a Starbucks next to the parking lot so we grabbed a coffee before we headed in to take in all the beautiful scenery. My sister is afraid of heights and she had difficulty in some areas but was able to come and enjoy it all too.

Loved it. This was perfect for small kids. My kids never complained about being bored. It was an easy walk with so many fun things to see. We spent about 2 hours here. Went during the week and hardly saw other people. Super cool!

This place is mindblowing . I thought it would be neat, maybe a little corny, and initially wondered if it was really worth $27pp for admission, but it was so so awesome . Like Disneyland awesome. A German immigrant couple created this place in the 1920's and over the years, its been built up and improved
The amount of work it took to create this place is absolutely astounding. We actually backtracked and went to the view of the 7 states first and luckily we did bc when we went thru the place and got back to this area, it was so hazy you couldn't see anything at all. Go along the path and it will take you through the whole place - down beautiful paths, stone bridges, a swinging bridge, into caves , a breathtaking waterfall, shimmying between rocks in ravines, and at the end you see amazing storybook creations worthy of Disneyland. At times It truly felt like we were in old Europe. Oh there's also plenty of gift shops and a couple cafes to get food, several restrooms throughout, free and ample parking, and a Starbucks across the street to boot. My dad loved this place so much he said it was worth the whole trip just to go here , and it was more beautiful than Huangsan national park in China. Looks like we will make a trek back to TN just to visit here again, hopefully when it's less hazy.

I'm so glad we went. The rock formations, gardens, & waterfall are beautiful! They have 2 walking trails one that is shorter & easier for us older folks. The food and drinks at Cafe 7 is very good. It's at lovers leap which is at the very top of the mountain with wonderful views.

Lots of beautiful views from all the trails. The trails are well marked and easy to follow. Lots of photo spots along the way. Price was a bit high, but overall not terrible.

I always love a trip to Rock City and have in the mid 1970’S as a young boy! So when my wife wanted to go last year it was limited over covid and we put it off.
So today was our Rock City day and it’s as fun and memorable as it has been over the last 45 years of visiting here. Amazing views, newer food places and snacks and drinks.
Cafe 7 is an amazing dining place and they had live music today and the quirky Gnomes and Fairytale Land was just as I remembered it! This place is always fun and wonderful to visit and enjoy a afternoon of evening . Highly recommend ~

A real institution. Great fun for the family if you want to get away from electronics and get some fresh air. We arrived early on a Sunday and as we left it was getting very busy.....plan ahead.

A great outdoor adventure for people who love the outdoors. Million dollar views, wine tasting, fudge, and even a restaurant with great burgers!

WOW, I thought it was going to be just the look out, which was amazing but all the bridges, balanced rocks, waterfall, pathways, hidden gems were the icing on top. I've been to the Grand canyon, from Canada to Key West, the entire Caribbean and lived in Hawaii and I'd rate this just below Hawaii. It's so unique and well executed. You feel like a rock climber, explorer, cave wanderer, and finally king of the mountain. I can't believe there are any bad reviews.

I can be short and sweet about this attraction; it's WAY too expensive! $45 just to get in, and look at ...what? A full scale rip-off!

This was such a quirky and fun place to visit. There is a lot of walking and at times there are very closed off spaces, so if you don't like small spaces, this might not be the best for you. The views were outstanding and the decor was cute and fun. You don't have much interaction with staff other than initial check in but they were friendly. The 7 state lookout was very cool. There are plenty of opportunities for pictures. Young children (5 and under) might not be the best for this due to the walking, climbing, and bridges. I think children (6 and up) would like the experience. It was priced kind of high but nothing uncommon for a tourist attraction and I thought the experience was worth it. We went in September when it was still pretty hot and there were drink stations available. There was a little bit of a crowd but nothing unmanageable for a tourist location. This also could have been impacted by COVID procedures.

It was interesting and something to do. I would’ve given it a 4 if it were a little less expensive. $74.00 for two seemed kind of steep. But it was OK. If botanical gardens and fairy gardens are your thing, you’ll probably love it. 😊

Rock City is my favorite place to visit as with the higher altitude it is cooler than downtown Chattanooga. I only regret that the Cafe was not open for service.

This was really a great place to visit. I would recommend a 3 - 4 hours to do this. Book before hand to make your life easier as there is no guarantee that you can get a place on the day. There is the most spectacular view where you can see 7 different states. there is a restaurant at the top where you can have a drink and enjoy the view.

Very nice And interesting place, for families, friends and pets. and have a nice day. and spend a nice and entertaining day.

Great place for people of all ages. So beautiful and well maintained. Visited on a nice warm day in February. Small entrance fee and parking is free.

We accidently ended up there after Ruby Falls was flooded. I'm so glad for Mother Nature on that one. Never seen anything like it. Totally recommend going to it.

Really cool locaton. You walk through nicely layed rock pathways to a scenic look off. On the way the Christmas theme is evident. It was very magical and fitting for the walk to the look off. I didnt realize your actually in Georgia when you reach the look off. Too cool!

DOG FRIENDLY! gorgeous scenery. So much fun…. Nice to be able to bring our little dog, she wanted out of the hotel…. No one lets you bring your fur child, THANK YOU! Place is pretty neat.

The view was nice. The price to walk through dormant plants and holiday lights was excessive. If you love gnomes this is the place for you. This will not take you very long. It took us less than an hour even walking slowly through lines of international tourists. Most paths require you to walk in a single file. Walking every trail, visiting every gift shop and kiosk, paying the 7-state viewer fee (no better than naked eye), and reading all the historic markers, it took us less than an hour. We aren't sure ehatvwe expected but we were very underwhelmed. Thankfully we went on a weekday so our family of 4 was $150ish (more on weekends). We can now say we have seen rock city.
Interestingly ever other location we have visited where you can see multiple states at once have been free.

This place was beautiful and wonderfully laid out. It can be done at your own pace. Very picturesque. Friendly staff. Would love to go back.

Rocks, rocks and more rocks. My wife has a walker. We where able to make it through the whole thing but its NOT ADA friendly! The price is way over priced. It just about board my kids from 12 to 17 to tears. Bypass this one.

This was the most beautiful place I’ve been to in the states! First you go through this enchanted rock forest. My teenage girls felt like they were in a Disney movie! At the end of the garden, is an absolutely gorgeous view of 7 different states. The waterfall on the edge was unreal.

Tried to buy tickets in line to see the lights, managed to buy a season pass and that pass allowed us to make a reservation for the rest the of my family to get passes also. When we arrived they would not sell us a day pass and wanted everyone in our party to buy a season pass. Bait and switch. Once we finally got a manager to let us in it was very confusing to get around. I have gone to Rick City for many years but was very disappointed this evening

The natural part of this place is an extraordinary environment, tremendous boulders, lichen, twisted tree trunks, flowers, rock pathways, dramatic cliff, waterfall, and stunning views. The fairytale part is a little weird.

Rock City is a must see destination at Lookout Mountain. The pathways throughout are smooth and easy walking. I was pleased to see the trail leads you through all the different areas of gardens and formations. Lighting and background music add the the atmosphere.
The iconic Lovers Leap was impressive. Fat Man's Squeeze and Needles' Eye were fun and easy to walk through, not nearly as narrow as one would expect. Fairyland Caverns was a surprise. I'd expected it to be more for children but found it interesting for adults too. Every nursery rhyme I could remember and many more are depicted in characters.
The spot that I enjoyed the most was the Hall of the Mountain King. Be sure to stop to see the carving at the entrance to this area, it is quite impressive. After completing our walk through Rock City we were ready to walk through a second time.
I highly recommend a visit to Rock City and plan to return.

Lovely place with great views. Easy walk. Fair tale scenes for the kids, fun areas to explore, breathtaking views & drop offs. Well worth the time.

My favorite time to go is in the late fall, looking out from lovers Leap over all the brilliant colored leaves on six states below is absolutely amazing! The weather is usually perfect, and the crowds are gone!

I visited on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn’t too busy. This garden easily makes my top five favorites! It’s whimsical, fun, and full of breathtaking views. From winding stairs and charming bridges to caves, waterfalls, and even a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating—there’s so much to explore. The highlight? Standing on the mountain where you can see seven states at once. Truly a beautiful and unforgettable place!

It's a must go with kids of any age. Evening lights and cave with fairy tales stories are the highlights. A good picturesque view.

Ok, I was afraid this was going to be hokie. I like to hike, so I thought this was just going to be not my cup of tea. Boy was I wrong! This is Fun! It's a maze of slot canyon vibes, bridges, waterfalls, cliffs, overlooks, and just a wonderfully fun place!

Really over priced tourist trap. Rude, uninformed employees. Don't waste your money. The only good thing about it is the pretty view after you LEAVE and drive back down the mountain

What a fun experience! Great story and amazing scenery! The entire family loved it! Fun walking the trails and the views are 2nd to none!

What a beautiful place to visit. They do offer discounts for military which was quite nice to see. You have to walk quite a ways so wear comfortable shoes. Definitely worth the visit

This is a great place to visit and walk around. Great for the entire family, young and old. Staff was nice.

There was much more here to see than I expected, and I really enjoyed the visit. Make sure to catch the Raptor show, I did that first then circled back to the start of the main trail, which takes you through many rock formations, gardens, across cool bridges including a swinging bridge, and then to the scenic edge of the mountain. Grab a snack or meal at this end (I had pizza which was very good), and there was only ice cream on this end the day I was there (closed on the other end). Then on the trail back there are more rock formations including Fat Man's Squeeze, through Fairy Land Caverns, and then to the shops by the entrance. My Sunday ticket cost more and it was supposed to be due to having a festival with music that day, but it was just recorded music piped in that you could barely hear, so in my opinion the "Premium" day ticket isn't worth the extra cost unless that's the only day you can go.

It was beautiful to see the world from this distance up. Who would have thought you could see something so breath taking.

We definitely will return to Rock City! Beautiful views. We love the walking suspension bridge. It’s a very unique, natural, & peaceful place. We love all the walk ways, & the fairy tale area is very unique & creative.

My wife and I visited Rock City to view the Christmas Light display. This is a very well production. This is our first visit but definitely not our last.

Beautiful surroundings create a totally unique experience! The natural rock formations, gorgeous flowering plants and tall trees make for a wonderful time immersed in nature.

Attention Veterans! If you want your Veterans discount, you must purchase your tickets at the gate. Do not buy them online. We were misinformed on the phone. They told us to purchase the tickets online, and then we just show our veterans ID at the ticket office and they will refund us $5 per ticket. When we went to the window, a very nasty cashier, Samantha, practically yelled at us and told us there was no way for her to give us the money back. We were very disappointed with her and the policy.

Beautiful spot on top of the mountain. Gorgeous park with amazing views and rock formations. Lots of stairs, but good exercise and worthwhile!

Have seen the “See Rock City” signs my entire life——finally went—-with little idea of what to expect.
Adult admission was $28. This is quite a strenuous endeavor—-LOTS of steps. (There is an alternate handicap trail which might be better for strollers also.) There are lots of places to stop and rest. The natural foliage and rock formations are amazing——especially when you learn the history that it is still a family owned property. Amazing views at the top—-also a cafe for refreshments. When we were there, their summer music series was going on, and we sat for 20 minutes to listen to a very talented trio.
I want to also stress that there are some VERY tight squeezes——I cannot imagine a truly stout person could get through. There are places inside caves that while lit with soft string lights, could be treacherous for an older person whose mobility and/or vision is compromised.
It takes about 90 minutes to do the entire trail. The natural beauty of nature is just amazing——they have added some commercial touches, (fairies, gnomes, etc) which may appeal to children, these we could have done without, but, to each his own.
There are several gift shops and places to spend money—-so be forewarned—-your kids will want something. It would be pricey for a family with kids.
Glad we finally went. I don’t think it would ever warrant a repeat visit.

Perfect attraction to visit. Clean, well maintained and beautiful. We were so glad that we visited Rock City, we thoroughly enjoyed the rock formations, walking paths and Fairyland caverns. The weather was perfect on the day we visited so we were able to appreciate the incredible views. This spot is definitely worth a visit.

Very expensive for what you get and can do. OK so you see a view of fields and distant mountains that encompasses several states. But there is nothing distinguishable about the view.
The other attractions are for young kids not for adults and it is all very corny
Also, the food is a rip off and terrible.

On a visit from England, we spent several
hours here with our 8 and 5 year old kids. It was awesome - fun to explore, incredible views, bonus cavern/fairyland experience at the end (to be taken in the context of it’s creation in the 1940s). Good value for money compared to ticket prices/length of activity for other attractions nearby. We all loved it.

The last spot to visit on our tour of Lookout Mountain. Undoubtedly a very touristy spot but fun and beautiful. The walk through the atmospheric gardens a real treat and then at the end the vistas. Just spectacular.
At the end we sat out on a terrace sipping beer looking across the many states we could see. Trees for as far as the eye could see.
Special thanks to Matt for helping us with phone charging and an Uber booking. Note Uber rates can be extraordinary unless scheduled in advance for rides back into Chattanooga.
Loved our visit, will return again someday to see these views in a different season. Seeing a red cardinal bird land next to us made the visit all the more special

This was an unexpectedly pleasant experience. We were looking for something to break up the trip from Nashville to Atlanta and this was close and the right amount of time and effort. The walk through the rock formations is very interesting even if at times it is somewhat kitschy. We were there on a Monday early afternoon and it was not too busy. I don't think it would have been as nice a stop if it had been very busy.

This was well worth a visit. The views are spectacular. We visited with our 18 year old daughter and she loved it. The fairyland caverns was neat. The history behind the gnomes and fairytale exhibits is quite interesting. There are shops and places to eat. I especially liked the Starbucks and fudge shop. We visited Rock City at 130 and were finished by 340. We had plenty of time to make it to Ruby Falls for our 430 reservation cave tour. Plenty of things to do in this area. Fun trip. I have a fear of heights...so I was glad that my child is a teen. I definitely would have been worried with an energetic toddler who might like to climb. I suppose if you have little ones....might want to keep a close reign on them if they are climbers.

This place was well worth the admission. Caveat- we went first thing when it opened before it was crazy crowded and hot. That made a big difference in our experience. I imagine it would have been less pleasant once it got very busy as this is a take your time and enjoy the beauty of the natural environment stroll. We were passed by several groups just zooming to the waterfall. This place is worthy of a slow walk to take it all in. There are many enhancements to the environment that add character to the experience, including stain glass art fixtures and neat doors to the various segments of the walk plus multiple bridges that give a bit of fun. The total experience was well thought out. If you just want to see a waterfall, it’s also worth it.

We had five children with us ages 4 to 12. They loved it!!! I visited many years ago, and loved it, so was afraid I would be disappointed. It was so much better than it used to be. Much cleaner, and absolutely beautiful. There is a place to get drinks and a snack about half way through, which was a welcomed break. The fairy tale cave is absolutely magical! Remember to wear tennis shoes. Took us about 2 1/2 hours.

The best stop so far! So many awesome trails that are easily followed with signs and walking path. The views from the top are breathtaking. You will not be disappointed!

Rock City in Rock City gardens are the same place you have to pay to go inside Rock City gardens to see the view but you also get to see all the creation set the people who design this built around God's creation but crevices and caverns and amazing views well worth the price a fair amount of walking and some of the passages are pretty skinny so if you're like super fat you may want to skip this exhibit.

My sister and I took our children and we had a blast. The atmosphere truly is magical, the views are INCREDIBLE, and there is so much to see. The park itself is 100% worth the money. The only single complaint I had which isn't really contollable is a tourist area .. is the traffic. Be prepared to sit for at least 30mins to an hour in traffic going up the mountain to Rock City. It's bumper to bumper all the way into the parking lot. Other than that, totally worth it and I would highly recommend. The swinging bridge and overlook was so cool. They have small vendors where you can get food, hot chocolate, coffee, sweet treats, soft drinks .. etc. They have several areas where you can sit and eat or enjoy a fire pit. We had an autistic child with us who stems a lot, so if your child is special needs and needs an area to chill out for a minute, they have them everywhere. But also, the area is pretty stem-friendly because everything is outdoors. There are also several super cute areas to take cute photos at. Overall, I would give Rock City a 9/10.

The most attractive view of the Rock city is the falls that flow under the bridge, but it's an artificial falls, it's called the "High falls". But you need to pay to enter the Rock city garden to see that view, and the admission is quite expensive, it's almost a hundred dollars for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids).

This is a multi generational place. My mom remembered coming as a kid and then brought us when we were kids then used this year's spring break to bring her grandkids and it's still just as magical as it was in the 1960's (per her I can only remember it from the 90s :) ). There are several walking paths. Most are not stroller or handicap assessable so be prepared for that. There are several gift shops but I'd save shopping until the very end of your trip because you don't want to have to haul it around with you and you can easily get back to all the gift shops from the main square. Bathroom placement was a bit annoying with the main bathroom being all the way at the beginning or in one of the snack bars. Food prices are what you would expect from an amusement park so eat before or after coming to save a lot of money. Overall the kids loved it (even the teens were enjoying themselves). Views from the cliff side are amazing (bring quarters to use the viewfinders). Weather was amazing but I could see it getting very warm in the summers so bring water if you come in warmer months. Also prebuy tickets online to avoid the line.

We stopped here on the drive to Florida. We didn’t know what to expect, but man this place is so cool. Totally worth the trip.

A lot of fun. Great views. Excellent trails and sights. Really worth the cost of the ticket. I would love to take my grandchildren some day.

Such a quirky and unique destination. Not really much education along the way, but it’s a great experience. My teenagers loved it. The fairy tales were so ancient that I was worried my gen z kids would not enjoy that part of it. But I was wrong. They had fun revisiting all the timeless classics of their childhood. This is definitely NOT a handicap friendly activity. So go while your body is young and able to climb, bend and twist because it’s worth it.

The view was beautiful. I have a problem walking but Rock City has a path to Lookout point that is easy, 10 minutes to the site of 7 states visible from landing. We where concerned so my husband walked with me to the cafe, where I sat and waited for him to do the long walk, thru Fatman's squeeze and the other gardens that are there. He wore is gopro so he could share the views with me but really the view at the landing was wonderful. The day we where there there was a gentleman entertaining with oldies and a October Fest theme band in the pavilion. There was a Bird of Prey show and a wonderful young man doing caricature (our grandchildren loved ours). My walk took about 10 minutes, my husband did it all and it took about 1 hr. but I was not bored. The view and the entertainment was great.

My husband and I celebrated our Anniversary at Rock City this year. We were looking for a great place close to home that we had never been to before. This was beyond all our expectations. It was a little cloudy that day, but as we got to Rock City the sun broke through the clouds. Make sure to check what restaurants are open when you are planning to visit, as most of them were closed the day we were there. But, there is a very nice Starbucks in the area to walk to for a snack. They also have a very large free parking lot. Overall very glad we went and hope you have a great visit too!

Though it has a reputation as a "tourist trap", we found Rock City to be a great way to spend the morning. The 1.5 mile walk though the gardens was beautiful, and the view from Lover's Leap incredible. I enjoyed the Fairytale Gardens that I remembered visiting many years ago as a child. Highly recommended as a stop in Chattanooga.

This was a beautiful walking trip through the mountain. Some areas are a bit tight to get through but well worth it. Views from the top heights are amazing. Bit pricey but something not seen everyday.

Rock City is on the Tennessee-Georgia border and has an address listed in Georgia.
I definitely recommend Rock City, a famous natural tourist destination in Chattanooga.
Breathe in the good air in a place with a spectacular view, and travel freely without a guide in an open area.
It was great to be able to see it.
When you enter, music comes out of the speakers, and in addition to the cliffs, waterfall, and observatory, there is a fairy tale village filled with fluorescent dolls inside the cave, and there are dwarf dolls erected here and there, so it feels like a child's innocence.
It was interesting.
Also, there were many photo zones everywhere, so I was able to take some of the most memorable shots of my life.

Rock City was definitely one of the highlights of of 17 day anniversary road trip, possibly my wife's favorite. Amazing rock formations and views combined with the cave, gnomes and fairy tales. A must see .

Rock City is always an enjoyable experience, and there was no exception on our recent visit during Fall Break! We had 2 adults, a 1st grader, and a 4th grader in our group, and we all loved it! The staff keeps the grounds clean and updated, and it feels like there is always something new to see! Our favorite parts include the Fairytale Caverns, the Lover’s Leap overlook, the “rainbow windows”, and the swinging bridge! This has to be one of the best roadside attractions out there and is not to be missed for any age during any part of the year!

Just beautiful. That says it all. ADA walkways for those that have difficulty with steps or hills or uneven terrain. We used this path and while you miss a few of the highlights, you can still have a great experience. Allow at least a few hour. Food and beverages are available. We were there during the Octoberfest, so there was a band. Worth the trip.

We've seen the signs for Rock City on barns for most of our lives, and we're in our 70s. So in July we took the time on our way back from Florida to stop in Chattanooga to see Rock City and Ruby Falls. I didn't know what to expect at Rock City, but the one hour plus walk greatly exceeded my expectations. A lot of work went into parts of this self-guided tour that I will leave you to find out for yourself. The cost is very reasonable and well worth your time, especially if you have kids/grandkids. Be sure you have good walking shoes and can handle the one-hour plus walk through some narrow passageways,

This was a beautiful walk through the garden with rock, formations caves, many each attractive things to see. It wasn’t hard to walk with the stairs. We went before everything was blooming and it was still beautiful. Would like to go back and see it all in bloom.

This was definitely the coolest place we visited/thing we did, while in Chattanooga. Reservations are required, so we booked first thing in the morning (I hate the heat). We stayed 3 hours, and walked it twice - once for photos, once to enjoy. There was practically no one there until about 2 hours into our visit. Walking between the rocks was fun, as well as the suspended bridge. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the gnomes, and the gates, and the doors. Fairy Land was unique and well done - very nostalgic. Even the gift shops had some cool stuff. There was live music and food up top. My son did the gem mining, which I have to say, is the first and only one we have ever done that was totally worth it. He got actual "gems" that weren't microscopic, or a bunch of uninteresting repeats. I was really impressed, and he is very happy. We would recommend Rock City to everyone who passes through the area.

Had so much fun walking around this rock garden. Had never been before and my friend and I decided to check it out. Lots of waterfalls, flowers, swing bridge. Colorful lights to enhance the area. Caves to squeeze through.

Rock City is a self-guided walk through a rock nature area. Lots of steps, inclines, narrow passages(they have a handicapped alternative path for those with mobility issues). Lot of view points, bridges, caves, waterfalls to stop and take pictures. They have a cafe, gift shop, fudge shop, vendors selling items. You can go in and out all day. Lots of parking. We bought tickets on-line and didn't have to wait in the ticket line. The suspension bridge was great and it was fun to see the 7 States view point.

I thought this would be boring. I was wrong. There are fun paths and peaceful music. Amazing sights and creative art throughout the park. Was a great start to our family trip.

What a cool place, we always come here during the winter for Christmas, but this was our first time during the day. What a cool experience, absolutely beautiful. So many different places to explore and see. Also, dogs are allowed to accompany you!

Extremely crowded. If they are staging entry by time slots then they are overbooking because it was so crowded that being pushed through is not enjoyable. Not elderly or handicap accessible.

Nice views, good insta pic potential here. It was really beautiful!
Nice drive up there also through Lookout Mountain.

It was sprinkling rain. WHO CARED. The walk threw the gardens was so unusual, beautiful. Lookout mountain was gorgeous. The fall must be breath taking. The fairy caverns were unique. Definitely something to see.

Interesting place. Worth a couple of hours. Went with my wife and college age daughters. We all enjoyed it and was worth two or three hours. Went during the day and then back at night to see the lights.

Absolutely breathtaking!! The view! The scenery! The history! Definitely a must see! I’d visit monthly if I lived closer!
Highly recommended for all ages!

The stone pathways and artwork enhanced the natural beauty of the trails and vegetation. The view from the top was amazing. There are alternate paths for differing physical ability and comfort levels. Drinks, snacks and souvenirs are readily available.

I have wanted to visit here forever, and I'm so glad I did. Yes, it's touristy, but worth it. Everyone should go at least once. I don't know if I ever need to go back, but I'm glad I went just this once. It is hot and you are outside almost the entire time, so wear appropriate clothes for the weather, or visit during the cooler months. You basically follow the trail through the rocks. Some parts of the trail are very narrow, but a 6'2", 380-pound guy in our group was able to fit, even through Fat Man's Squeeze. The area at the top has lovely views and is very relaxing. Get some food and a drink, sit and just soak in the views and people watch. The kids will love the Fairy Tale Cavern. The gift-shop is overpriced, so skip it. I didn't visit any of the other little shops. Enjoy!

This is such a charming, whimsical spot with friendly staff. It was pretty rainy so we didn’t get to explore as much as we would have liked. But it is worth the trip if you are I. The Chattanooga area.

My husband and I love the place! This was the second we have come! The air smells good, the views are amazing, and the walk is fun! It’s definitely worth the trip.

Really fun and gorgeous views. Fun around every corner. Lots of stairs but an easy walk for most. If you fear heights probably not for you

Would have rather seen it in its natural state. Do not like the man made enhancements. But it’s still pretty neat. You can kinda get the feel of what it was.

My 3rd time visiting. Last visit was in 2007 with our older children. This time was with our 13 yr old. It was a good family trip. They have updated some things since last visit. Still beautiful. Weather was great. Tour at your own pace. My son loved the swinging bridge. Great trip for making memories.

The creativity on display here is astounding! The pathways are natural and beautiful. The views of the seven states are breathtaking! The work put into the fairytale section is creative and so fun to look at! I went on a holiday during the week, so be warned, there are tons of children running around on certain days.

Rock City was a magical quaint experience. My family and I loved it so much we wanted to upgrade our day passes to an annual pass. I called Rock City’s phone number and left a message about upgrading passes. Cheryl at ticketing called the next day and left me a voicemail to call her back and she’d help upgrade our passes. Each time I call, either no one answers or I’m transferred to Cheryl’s number and no one picks up and I am not able to leave a voicemail. We enjoyed our experience at Rock City, but, unfortunately, their customer service is packing in comparison to the experience.

Well done. Perfect for anyone. The owners put a ton of work in this place. Lots of customized things and paths. Very unique.

Fun for the whole family. Beautiful scenery, wonderful customer service. Great prices. Highly recommend!

This was definitely worth the money. We were lucky in that it was not super busy the day and time we went. Sunday morning, it was beautiful and we were able to take our time and stroll through the grounds.

A definite must see when in the area and worth making a trip JUST to see Rock City! Beautiful views, amazing boulders, and cool art. Don’t miss the Hall of the Mountain King sculpture. Several people walked right past it. So many flowers blooming and the water features were lovely as well.

We didn’t know what to expect, but our time spent here walking the trails and exploring were fantastic! It wasn’t crowded and the weather was great! You just must go and do it! It’s worth it!

Rock City Lookout Mountain is a beautiful place to visit. There is a lot of walking at the location but it is all worth the walk. We spent about 1 1/2 hours here but I could have stayed around 3 hours....so much to see and experience. We took a motorcoach tour here so we got off the bus, were handed our tickets and went on our way. Don't miss the gift shop and other shops to purchase quality items locally.

This place was awesome! We really weren’t sure if this was something we’d like; it sounded kind of hokey.
We’re in our early 60’s. We were hoping for some fresh air and a nature walk-it was way more that that! It’s amazing the time, work, and effort this family put in to designing and building this place. What a great time we had! It’s super clean, the staff were incredibly friendly, the cafe at the lookout area had a nice lunch menu and beer and wine, the gift shops are cute, the views are amazing.
I recommend you get there at 10:00 am and then grab lunch at the cafe when it opens at 11:30. Relax and enjoy the sunshine and view!

Great way to spend an afternoon or morning. Try to go on a clear day because the views from here are undescribable. Much bigger than I expected and worth the admission. Food is good and reasonably priced. Great for all ages.

I enjoyed our visit to Rock City. Although I could not manage all the various trails, I saw a good bit on the handicap trail. This is a family friendly activity

So my daughter turned 16 this year. And, she requested to take her friends here for her birthday. They all loved it! Even though it was freezing, they enjoyed all the lights! And, enjoying a hot drink on the cliff side. This is a must do for any family.

Yes, you come for the views from the cliffs and Lover's Leap, but there is more. Be ready to walk! The trail is winding and up and down, and through the rock formations...just awesome. They do have an abbreviated path if you can't down all that walking and is wheel chair accessible. They have some kitschy things with gnomes, signs, etc., but all to keep you entertained. Great experience that everyone should do at least once. I'd like to come back at night!

I had seen this on a Facebook page of a friend but had no idea what it was called! Just knew there was a place to see 7 states! We had a beautifully clear day. It was worth the money to pay to have paved trails to the Lover's Point and to the Lookout. Defiantly can do in a few hours. At Lookout point there was a resturant and gift shop. Looked like on weekends may have some music. There are two paths. One that goes straight to Lookout point and another that goes through caverns, over bridges and what not. There are many things to do in the area and we plan to come back in the fall. The road is STEEP! Plenty of parking and bathrooms along path. Also places to stop to rest and get water from vending machines. Have a quarter or two to use the old time machines to see out farther.

The place is great. It’s like an old village, and with the tour you get to access a beautiful trail in nature. It’s a great hiking trail and place to go with anyone! The only problem was that the gift shops were just a tiny bit over priced.

Something for everyone. Beautiful views, tunnels, swinging bridges, moss covered rock walls, a cafe with incredible views and gnomes everywhere! There's also "Fairyland Caverns". An animated underground 3D tour with all the best know fairy-tales like Jack and Beanstalk, Rip Van Winkle and Snow White. The history of this place and the surrounding area is also fascinating. Definitely worth the price of admission. We had a great time!

Here’s the ‘skinny’ on Fat Man Squeeze: I measured myself before I went through - I am 16 inches wide at the widest point (which is 42 inches off the ground). I scrubbed the rock for about 1 foot in two places. I consider myself a tad claustrophobic (was planning to bypass this one after reading some reviews) but this did not bother me at all (and I’m 5’10”, 318 pounds at present). They suggest that you lead with your right shoulder because leaning forward at the restrictions is easier. Needle’s Eye is much wider in comparison (no contact) - and just one spot where I actually had to turn sideways a little. Rock City in general was great - very unique, great views, a spot to shop and get refreshments at Lovers Leap, and a swing bridge that you can bypass on a rock bridge.

Ended up here because Ruby Falls was sold out. This place is breathtaking! I loved the trails and tight walks between ginormous rocks. The calm music and lighting created such a calm vibe. My boyfriend who’s afraid of heights had plenty of space to distance himself from the ledges. The views are spectacular and they have several spots for great pictures. I appreciated the “cooling station” with mist because it gets hot! We grabbed water from the restaurant near the entrance because most of the vending machines we saw only accepted cash and one was out of water. Overall, this was a great experience!

Like many of the attractions in Chattanooga, we purchased our tickets in advance. Not only did our ticket specify what day we could attend, it also specified the time as well. It was our understanding that we had to arrive at the specified time, or our tickets would be worthless. That’s why we made sure that we arrived early. Luckily for us, there was not many visitors at the time and the ticket attendant let us check in early.
The tour is a self-guided tour. For most people, it will take at least two hours to complete the tour. However, if you have a child with you like we did who could not read and was overly eager to explore what was next on the tour, it took us a little over an hour. There are two different paths so you need to follow the map. Some paths are very narrow.
There are many signs throughout the tour that state to stay on the path, but several people in front of us did not. In fact, they went off of the tour path to take pictures. We had children with us and we had to explain several times not to do what the people in front of us did because children naturally want to climb rocks and there were plenty of rocks off of the tour path.
There is a Starbucks located across the street.
Parking is free. Restrooms are clean.

I went to the Lookout Mountain with a travel group. We first had our group boxed lunch in the indoor seating area, then we got in with our group travel badge. There entire area is about 1 hour walk. You can do it slowly or you can do it faster, if you do not have too many time. All the paths are paved so it is easy walk. Some areas are very narrow like Needles Eye, and Fat Man’s Squeeze. Leading to the Look Out, you can go through swing bridge or stone bridge. I did the stone bridge. Underneath the lookout observation deck, there is a waterfall, nearby, there is an Indian sculpture, and a giant stone on top of other stones forming a natural tent.

Waste of time and money! Came from Florida 8.5 hrs once we got in at our scheduled time slow all the food was gone except the pizza place and the other restaurants were closed. We had 7 children and an infant with us. We ordered pizza to feed them they said a 30 minute wait until it was ready, they gave away our order TWICE! We have the receipt with order number on it you are supposed to show to receive the order so HOW someone else could take our order was insane! The fire pits weren’t on even though it was windy and low 40s. So the children sat freezing and starving for for almost 2 hours and we only got half our order and then we’re told the entire place was closing so we didn’t even get to do it see anything!! 17 hours of driving for NOTHING!!! To top it off the manager was rude and didn’t give a crap about their customers or the children; for Christ sake how could you be that way?! SHAME ON YOU!!!

Every visit to Chattanooga means a stop and a walk thru Rock City and a visit to the breathtaking view from the summit. We love the beauty and the view. It’s well worth a visit. Take your time and smell the flowers.

Came here quite often as a child, still is impressive with the rocks, views, fairies and gnomes. Fat Man's Squeeze and the swinging bridge are still favorites. Not as many barn roofs painted with 'Rock City' on the trip as I remembered, but bought a iconic red and black birdhouse to take home.

This was the highlight of our trip to Tennesee. It was a fabulous price for an amzaing garden full of artistic expression(s) and the most amazing views of seven states. I would highly recommend this attraction over any other... over all the "normal" sightseeing attractions in Chattanooga. This one far outweighs the rest in beauty and value.

We LOVED our visit to Rock City, high atop Lookout Mountain in Georgia! What fun to squeeze in between the rocks, visit the Fairy Caverns and Mother Goose Land, to name a few place. This all started with one woman's idea and creativity and carry-through! At the top, be sure to take pictures to see the 7 States! You can buy food (short menu) that represents each of the States and provides you with a halfway-ish break to take in the view. We are grown grandparents yet spent several hours there taking it all in. BE SURE to buy your tickets online at their site, not just to get in, but to obtain a STEEP discount. If your arrival gets delayed, since you have to approximate an entrance time, you can modify it through the website. You can even go at nighttime (I think they told us that our tickets were good all day), when they put special lights on! I rarely revisit a place, but we would definitely go back there the next time we are in town. The first visit is TRULY MAGICAL!

We visited Rock City to view the natural beauty from up above. Once you make it up to very top, the views are breathtaking. You can view seven states from the binoculars at very top. There was live entertainment, food, and souvenirs at top of mountain. With all that said, prices seem high for very little. There isn’t much supervision throughout trail up. There was an older male who thought it would be amusing to jump on the swing bridge to frighten people with fear of heights. Very young kids running around everywhere unsupervised. Seemed to me they like to cash in on those of us who love nature.

This was a wonderful beautiful place to go and make memories! Lots of walking but the scenery is just fun and gorgeous!! We went many many years ago with our children who are now adults with children of there own!
You will not be sorry if you plan this trip and walk to see the gardens to!!

This is a perfect trip for solo, couples, families and even the doggies. Hard to imagine this was privately owned and started in 1932. There are plenty of things to do, yet you can still cover everything in 2 1/2 hours or less. The highlight is Lovers Leap 7 state view. I highly recommend you go on a clear day to fully enjoy. Plenty of food options available. Reasonably priced. I will return in the Spring/Summer when everything has bloomed.

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful time. Amazing views, fun walking paths, and a unique charm that I've never really encountered anywhere else.
The customer service is beyond fantastic! Mr. Henry needs special recognition for being such a pleasant and eager to assist employee. We forgot something in our car and remembered at almost the exact midpoint of the attraction. Mr. Henry helped me find the fastest route to my car and even.topk the time to acknowledge my young daughter that was with me and assured her everything was going to be fine. He really made a stressful moment into a real opportunity to gain a customer that will definitely be back many more times!

Octoberfest this year was horrible. Food was cold and terrible. Waited in line 40 mins to get a couple beers and food. They used to cook the food outside on the grill and it was great. If this is the way it is now we won’t be back for Octoberfest. We are pass holders so we visit several times a year. I hope Christmas time is better.

I was slightly embarrassed to visit here with my husband and 21 year old son. Was I ever wrong! We all loved it. The rock formations are beautiful. The trail is so interesting. Highly recommend. Only "complaint" is that it is pretty pricey, but you can get $5 off the ticket price if you book online.

Wonderful place and magical. My kids loved it and so did my husband. Me however I’m deathly afraid of heights yet I even enjoyed it!!!!! I even did the rope bridge!!!!!

This place was absolutely beautiful. The paths were easy to walk and had plenty of resting spots. There is so much to see and take pictures of. We spent about 3 hours walking around and enjoying rock city. This is a must see if you’re in Chattanooga. The swinging bridge is not for those afraid of heights. It does move a lot but the views from it are worth it. You can also use the stone bridge if you rather skip the swinging one. You get to see seven states at the top of the mountain. There is also a fairyland caverns area which is really cool. The gift shop is at the end which is nice to look around and shop for souvenirs. You won’t be disappointed if you go here.

We visited Rock City during their Enchanted Pumpkin Patch. The kids loved it and so dud the adults. I would definitely do it again.

Much to see
Beautiful views
Friendly staff throughout the park
Easily accessible for walking
Misted fans along some parts are nice to stay cool.
So many vantage points for fantastic views, as well as photo ops.

I wish we had gone at a less crowded time. It was hard to enjoy parts of it because you felt as if you had to keep moving. It made it hard to feel like you could take your time and enjoy. Hated to hold people up. We did enjoy what we saw. It was pretty nd could be relaxing. Best part was the Lovers Leap and 7 states.
Be forewarned if you are claustrophobic, there are a couple of very tight spaces. We had to take a different route due to the crowd in the smaller space. Eye of the needle is definitely that!
It is expensive but that is to be expected at a tourist trap.

Way too expensive. Nice views but you get very little for your dollar. Includes the fairytale cave. Seemed like they were trying to make it something different.

My wife and I visited rock city in May and really enjoyed our visit. The weather wasn’t great so our views weren’t the best but the mist added to it.
We spent 3 hours there and spent of the time exploring the unique n quirky gardens . Make sure u explore all the gardens it’s easy to think you’ve done them all.theres some lovely things for you kids to see there to.
Def worth spending a few hours there

We came here for the first time in many years and were so pleasantly surprised. Yes, it is part of the Lookout Mountain tourist triangle, but the development that has gone on here in recent years has all been so tasteful and well done. The major historical features (like the Fairyland Caverns) are preserved, and the modern developments have been done in a way which doesn’t encroach too much on the natural beauty of the site and which displays Southern culture in a fun way. There are so many pleasant places to wander or have a seat and enjoy the day. The only thing I would say is good heavens give the Starbucks on the grounds a miss. It is the only coffee shop near to the attraction and my goodness is there a wait! Better off getting something down the mountain until Rock City/Starbucks can staff up the location.

A historic natural wonder that is incredibly fun, the place even has a good restaurants.
I have been going to Rock City for 60 years; the first time was with my father at age 4. Rock City is totally iconic if you grew up in the South.
Opening in 1932 the place exudes classic old school charm. Built as one of the first attractions that were viable due to the automobile's emergence in the early 1900's Rock City, it was a product of a visionary Married Couple.
Rock City is a geological Botanical Garden type park. The geological formations are the basis of the Park's amazing uniqueness, Fat Man's Squeeze, Mushroom Rock etc. really cool.
The current owners seem to be expanding into Botanical Displays and a small pavilion for some sort of Animal related shows. There is a notable emphasis on environmentally friendly practices, such as solar batteries over the entrance pavilion that provide its electricity.
The restaurant scene starts with a very nice Starbucks at the entrance. There is a restaurant at the high mountain point of the park, serving a nice selection of beer and wine; the food is excellent 👌.
The gift shops are really good with the Iconic Rock City Birdhouses that is a must buy souvenir. The kids will enjoy the Fairytale cave areas, totally classic gnomes and displays that give the park it's family fun reputation.
The main beauty of Rock City is the stunning views on top of the Mountain with the waterfall and the panoramic pavilion where you can see 7 states in the distance; so beautiful. It's a magical place!
My wife is from Kenya, Rock City is her favorite place to visit because she appreciates nature and it's relationship with mankind.
It's an incredible place, check ✔️ it out!

Beautiful park with several hiking routes. Because it's October everything was in halloween and autumn theme. Beautiful large waterfall that you can see from below with route yellow. Also a nice cave present with all children's fairy tales. And of course the amazing view of 7 states

The walk through rock city was very nice. There is plenty to see and take photos of. The view is amazing.

We were anticipating being able to do some hiking here, but this isn't the place for that. Instead we had an easy walk with stunning views! It helped that it was a perfectly clear and beautiful day. You will learn about the history of Rock City and the preservation of that history. The photos we took don't do it justice. I highly recommend you take time to visit in person. This IS something for the entire family, kids and grandparents alike! The downside is that I don't recommend strollers or walkers as there are lots of very narrow areas and steps throughout.

I thought it would be bigger, but thank goodness it wasn't. So much wonder and beauty to take in. The beautiful natural rock structures augmented by very cool man created rock support structures are just the beginning. The views are amazing and winding trails are a combination of natural and man made wonders if you take the time to really appreciate all of the labor that went into the creation. This is such a great place for the entire family.

Let me first say that the concept and actual attraction is cool and definitely unique.
However, I found my experience to be quite frustrating for several reasons.
To start, it was super backed up to get there. We didn’t have any idea what we were getting into! There were random people just directing us into traffic lots. The one guy told us to get tickets online as the line for the attraction was crazy long. Therefore, we assumed we should get online to get tickets. The internet wasn’t great, so we headed to Starbucks by the entrance to get our tickets. We waited in a line of 75+ people to get some drinks to cool down and try to purchase these tickets online. We finally get the website to work and every time, it keeps crashing right before we are done. So, we decided to have my friend wait for our drinks while I go get in line…
I get in line and wait for 40 minutes to get to the front (while the guy behind me blasts his loud music from his phone.) My friend finally finds me in line (after someone took my drink from Starbucks and walked off with it), but I don’t even care as long as we can get tickets and get in!! It’s now 1:30. The next available tour is 3:15. It’s about 85 degrees out and 80% humidity. I ask if there is somewhere we can go eat before we actually enter the gardens, and they say yes, we have a visitor center. I’m cool with waiting as long as there is somewhere to eat or a gift shop to look at to pass the time. We purchase the tickets, and now we ask a few employees where the visitor center is. They all act confused and have no idea what I’m talking about- they also don’t even bother to ask anyone else. We finally found a lady who tells us the bathroom with pamphlets area is the visitor shop. We can’t go into the food area/grill place or gift shop until our allotted time. I tell her that we need to eat, so she tells us to go back to Starbucks to get something to eat or we could DoorDash from Chattanooga- what?! We contemplate going back to town, but it’s super backed up to get here and we don’t want to miss our time. Therefore, we go across to the tiny gift shop and grab a sandwich and drinks and try to sit in the shade.
It’s now 3:00 and we try to figure out where to go. We stand in this fan area and can’t seem to see any resemblance of a line. There’s just a ton of people waiting around but no one seems to know what’s going on. We just decide to stand in line. Their sign says admitting people for 2:45, but now it’s 3:10. NO ONE announces that the 3:15 group (or any group) should get in line or what’s going on. We just decide to get in line, and now we are finally brought back to the area where there is a restaurant, a fudge store, and 2 gift shops.
Now, let me preface this by saying I looked online about the attraction, but I couldn’t find any restrictions. While I knew there was an accessible trail for wheelchairs, not much else was said. There were no warnings about the extremely tight and close quarters, and no way to get out if you can’t handle it. Anyways, my friend ends up getting overheated (within 10 minutes of us on the trail) since we’ve basically been waiting around 3 hours in this crazy humidity. She suddenly gets dizzy and wobbly during the first part -Needles Eye-where it’s extremely tight and claustrophobic. I get her to sit down and try to calm down, but it’s a constant stream of people staring at us. I tell her not to worry and to take her time. We wait about 15 minutes for her to feel better, but she’s getting panicky, and as I look on the map, I’m not seeing any way for her to get to an exit. We finally forge ahead, and people are so impatient they are trying to get around us. She is now stumbling, and I can’t find any workers to ask for help I’m getting anxious as there are some super high parts where if she fell, she could fall 20-30 feet! So it’s a little dangerous. We FINALLY get to this part where I can get us to exit (thank god for the map), and I bring her to this restaurant area. No workers are really around, but I finally find a lady and tell her my friend needs help leaving the attraction. She’s sick, and I don’t know what else to do.
We wait around 10-15 minutes for a manager who finally comes, and this was the most disappointing part of it all. I explain to him how we are frustrated on the lack of communication about how long we had to wait in the heat, how many workers don’t know what is going on, people are pushy because they obviously are overselling their true capacity, and we just want a refund to leave. My friend is sick, and while I came a long way to get here (Minnesota), she’s too sick to continue and we are only like an 1/8 of the way in. Now, I have NEVER asked for my money back on any attraction EVER, but the communication has been so poor, and we both feel sick from the heat. We’ve also spent $40 each on entry fees and $30 on food while waiting. I just wanted my money back, so we could maybe come another time. He refuses.
He states that he can’t control the weather (that’s fine, but have better communication on actual wait times so we could have cooled down and found food before starting this whole experience.) In addition, I lived in Las Vegas for 15 years, I KNOW heat!
I explain that they need to have more information on the physical aspects of it- while I’m able to do it, a lot of people are claustrophobic and have no way to know how tight it really is. Once they start, there’s no way to get out! In addition, many overweight people may not even be able to fit in certain parts of the trail. Even if that isn’t an option to have a disclaimer SOMEWHERE, there needs to be an option to be able to leave if there is a true medical emergency. The manager doesn’t seem to recognize how BAD this could turn out if someone truly fell (elderly, child, pet). I also explained how there were too many people, and they were pushy- he says he can’t control how people act… (While I get that, have more workers on hand to help control crowds!)
I also explained how the LACK of communication was the most frustrating part on why we wanted our money back. Many employees were oblivious to basic questions and so inundated with guests that you felt bad even trying to find someone. He explained they are short staffed, and while I get it, we are each paying $39 to visit his attraction, figure it out! Either hire more people or limit the capacity!
By now, I’m just mad. While $40 doesn’t seem like much, it truly is in the current economic climate. I ask if he can take my friend to the first aid station until I can get through the rest if we can’t come back another time or get our money back. While she is encouraging me to go, I can tell she still feels very ill. He says he’ll bring her to the car. He says he will drive my friend to her car. He doesn’t offer to get her a water or have her go to their first aid station to see if she needs further medical assistance (possible heatstroke?!). He just drops her off at the car and tells her to feel better. Why even have a first aid station?!
I’m so mad at this situation that I decide to finish the tour because I wasn’t going to get my money back!! I’m definitely not paying to come back here ever! I think it’ll be a quick thing to get back to my friend, but it takes me another 1.5 hours to get through it because it’s so backed up. There are no other ways for me to get out any quicker. The crowds are crazy, but I finally reach the end. I’m at the gift shop and need a water before I now pass out… I wait for 30+ people in line for the 1 cashier to check me out. ( I didn’t know where to get a water around there, or I would have gone straight to the car!) However, I needed to make sure I felt okay for me to drive my friend and I back to Knoxville for the night!
Again, while it’s a neat concept, I wish management would realize several things:
1. Communicate to people on expected wait times- have a sign up so people are aware of how long to wait! Then, have an accurate time of who is able to get in line or announce where people are supposed to be, so it’s not a huge mess!
2. Get on the same page with employees- have the ticket sales people tell visitors what the “visitor center” really is- just a bathroom with pamphlets. Not something you can do to pass the time.
3. Have the ticket gate AFTER you can go down to the Grill, Fudge shop, and small gift shop. At least people could pass the time while purchasing more of your product! By the end, no one is interested in eating- that’s why it was a ghost town in there.
4. More communication on physical limitations of people on the attraction. While I was able to physically do this, you need to have an emergency plan in place- it took 15 minutes for anyone to even assist my friend once I got her to a station. What if she was having a heart attack or fell and hit her head? There was no one to get help from along the route or any exits to get out quickly. They also need to warn anyone with severe claustrophobia, gait/balance issues, and limited overall physical health about what’s truly involved!
5. Figure out your online ticketing system! It’s constantly crashing for no reason. People were confused if they could go online or had to get in line. If we had known this, we would have gotten in line initially and not wasted 2.5 more hours!
6. LIMIT Capacity!! It was a nonstop line of people. It’s not enjoyable when people are pushing, and you can’t enjoy what you are truly there for. Also, while I LOVE dogs and am glad people don’t leave them in a car, so many looked in distress- the crazy crowds, the lack of water for them, the crazy heat for their pads, people tripping over them, etc.
7. HIRE MORE PEOPLE- almost all of the staff was trying their best- but there is no reason that they have to be so slammed. We are all paying a ton of money to be here, I’m sure you could find more workers if you raised their wages! No one would want to work in that environment!
Finally, let me leave this note- I’m not a “Karen” or someone who ever makes a fuss about much. I’m generally very easy going and like to see the best in situations, but this place needs some major changes to accommodate the crowds they pull in. I don’t know that I’ve ever left a truly bad review of a place, but this was so frustrating that I can’t recommend it to anyone the way it currently is. If you could go in with small crowds, it may be enjoyable but from what one employee told me, it’s almost always like this.

Great evening spent at Enchanted lights at Rock City. Lots of lights and lots to see & do throughout the attraction. All of us loved it from the youngest age 3 to the oldest age 52! Don't miss out on this holiday spectacular!

Much fun! Good captain and pleasant ride on the river! Good narration about the local history of Chattanooga!

Did not know what to expect or how long we thought we would be here for. Initially not impressed as you got further in a witnessed the intracecies of the structure and how it was developed in to a tourist attraction it became more impressive. You are not given a map but it is a guided pathway. They are also places to sit along the way. They are a lit of steps so strollers are not permitted. Half way round there is a view of 7 states on a clear day.
Towards the end of the journey there is a fairytale grotto which kids may find magical. I personally was a little creeper out by it.
Overall a great place to visit.

Found this pretty and relaxing. You can get a great view without a ton of exertion. The fairies would be amazing to experience with littles, but my big liked the whole experience too.

Rock City was awesome. My husband and I enjoyed our time spent there. My favorite was the Enchanted Trail. I especially liked the Nursery Rhymes section!

Excellent attraction for most ages - nature, beauty, exercise, gnome fun, vintage fairy tale cave displays, dining or refreshments with a view. Charming place. It seems to go on and on, spent several hours there. Not good for those with mobility challenges or for strollers. Stairs and inclines all over, but not hard walking for most. Better experience than expected and will certainly be back. Worth the price. The founders had brilliant vision to turn mountainside boulders into a wandering wonderland. We went on a Monday and only snack bar was open on the mountain top, but heard restaurant is wonderful when open.

Thought we were going to see… “just rocks”?? We saw a STUNNING piece of beauty and history in Tennessee. Made a memory my wife and I will forever cherish. It’s affordable and fun. Picture buffs will love it. Bring a small lunch and chill at look out mountain. BEWARE of the Gnomes… lol. Staff were friendly, there were 15/20 people there and we felt like the place was ours.

Great view. Yes, this is an overpriced tourist trap, but you must go. The gardens and rocks are beautiful. Even on a partly cloudy day you can see for miles. If you love gnomes, this is also the place for you. Lots of well behaved dogs here.

buy the park tickets online or buy it online once there. but its 5$ cheaper online., there is Star Bucks just across the road. take a snacks or two and water bottle and preferably a selfie stick. pathways are smooth but no stroller is allowed. loads of places to take pics, sit and enjoy. there is around 30-35 mins bird show don't miss it. it happens throughout the day every hour except at noon. we read about fairy tale caverns before going thr, so we had to ask someone to guide us to where it is. over all it was awesome experience.

Found Rock City pictures and reviews online in prep for a trip through Chattanooga. Was thinking about passing on it do to weather and timing, but decided to go the first day we were there. Extremely happy we did not pass on it and decided to go! This was such a great experience for me and my son. One of biggest surprise sites to see on our trip and worth the price of admission! The view from the top is amazing, but isn’t the only breath taking part of the hike through the rock formations. Rock City alone was enough for me to put Chattanooga TN on my return cities to travel to list. Hope to go back in 2022 to see Ruby Falls & more.

When I first entered the space I wasn’t too impressed. However, once we got a bit into the trail it was so much better than I thought. It really has a lot of beautiful and interesting rock formations on the trail along with a couple of small waterfalls. The views from the observation point are simply breathtaking and beautiful. The only negative is that there are a couple of tight squeezes between rock formations as you go. So if you are a person who is claustrophobic it may cause a little anxiety.

Amazingly breath-taking! There are tons of things to see, tons of pictures to take, selfies to laugh about and 'thrills'. We went on a nice spring afternoon and the temperature was perfect. Just cold enough that we were not sweaty but warm enough we didn't need a jacket. Believe me when I say, if you have a budget for your trip, spend just a bit of it on getting to go to Rock City. It is perfect. There is a Starbucks across the way that sells the Georgia and Tennesse "been there" mugs if you collect those like I do.

Absolutely breath taking views. It wasn't to crowded, and the map made it easy to enjoy every inch of it. The caves were pretty neat.

This is our second of many future visits to this incredible place of joy, inspiration, and true beauty! We were vacationing with our family and had the pleasure of bringing our 3 year old grandson along for the trip.
He loved every part of this trip. Every step was filled with adventure, excitement and joy. He didn’t want to leave. He especially enjoyed the Aesops Fable land as well as all of the great sites.
The staff is friendly. The facility and paths are clean and well maintained. And the price is very affordable.
We definitely are coming back again.

It's deceiving when you pull up. Absolutely beautiful gardens, music playing, sculptures, very well manicured. On the highest spot you can see 7 states as represented by state flags flying. It was fun to walk across a rope bridge (180 feet long) for the first time! Very family friendly.

In spite of the indignant teenager at the ticket counter, we enjoyed exploring around Rock City. The views are amazing. Directions to get around the park are not obvious. I do think it's a bit expensive for what it is.

Good place for a walk and to enjoy the views over Chattanooga. We did find the tickets to be a little pricey. Would be best visited in good weather.

It is always a pleasure to visit Rock City. Lots of fun going through the rock maze and then reaching lookout mountain and seeing 7 states from the top.

This is something to definitely see!! You have to be in good shape as there are a LOT of stairs to climb up and down. It is located on Lookout Mountain. You do have to be thin for some places and shorter people have it better in other places. If you are scared of tight places and heights, this is not the place for you. Such amazing rock formations!

Yes, the gnomes are kind of hokey, even creepy, but it’s kind of cool to see all the neat rock formations and it’s a fun way to spend an hour or two. Is it touristy? Yes, but it’s fun. We liked the lookout point looking out over the states and I liked the sections where you had to squeeze between the rocks to get through the trail.

Rock City rocks!! Seriously, I was surprised that I would like the place. When I was researching what to see in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area, Rock City caught my attention. Although it is technically in the state of Georgia, it is only about 15 minutes away from downtown Chattanooga. I thought my wife would like the place because while I was browsing I read that Rock City had a botanical garden and she loves flowers and plants. We love nature and Rock City is a nature themed attraction.
We arrived at Rock City later in the day (about 5pm) so we could see the sunset, and we left close to 9pm. Well worth the time and the price of admission. There were plenty of other visitors, but it did not feel crowded because this attraction is larger than it looks. Go at your own pace. We did, and we enjoyed every minute of it. It was a nice walk, and photo opps were available everywhere you look. The place I enjoyed the most was the Lover's Leap and Seven States areas. It was a hazy day so I could not see all seven states from that observation area. Would have been awesome if it had been a clear day so we could have seen all of those states. Oh well, it was still an awesome sight. Rock City sits on top of Lookout Mountain, and it is the perfect spot to view everything around.
It truly was an Awesome 4 hours spent at Rock City! There is something for everyone and for all ages to enjoy. So glad we decided to check this place out, and I think you will be too.

We purchased tickets for the 9:30 time slot and we really beat the crowds, allowing us time to stop and take pictures along the way. We didn't find it to be a tourist trap at all. We LOVED it..scenery is amazing and all is well done. There are several very narrow passages that would not be recommended for bulkier types, even going sideways. There are lots of rocks steps so I would recommend wearing sneakers. The fairyland area can be avoided, if not interested, but we found it very cute. No figures throughout the regular trails and if you read about the history, it gives you an understanding of fairyland.

We had a nice time walking through here. The scenery is beautiful, along the paths and the mountain views in the distance. There are lots of gift shops which was a bit annoying but only one that you get forced to go through. Bring quarters if you want to use the viewfinders.

Excellent walking tour with interesting views and fairy tale scenes. The raptor bird show was both informative and entertaining. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Absolutely beautiful! One of the prettiest views you could ever see. Plan to spend a few hours, you’ll want the time to take it all in

Absolutely LOVED this place. I could live there and never get tired of it. The name "Rock City" does not do it justice. It's a marriage of breathtaking natural beauty and lovely man-made landscaping. It was beautifully decorated for fall. The walk is easy for most and suitable for all ages. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The grounds and buildings were well maintained. A memorable, delightful experience.

This was so much more than I was expecting. Definitively worth the visit. The wife and I had a blast! We will be visiting again. A bucket list must!

Rock City entices the imagination, and satisfies the adventurous spirit of any sightseer. The fairy tale garden decor amidst the larger-than-life landscape naturally weaves the wanderer into its adventurous story. You can't help but anticipate spotting fairies among the flowers, gnomes waddling thru narrow rock crevices or ogres groaning from caves. The view from Lover's Leap is simply spectacular, and the rock formations provide welcome cool shade on a hot summer day.
The STAFF IS TOP-NOTCH. I locked my keys in the car and my phone was nearly dead from taking so many pictures that I wasn't able to call AAA. Naturally I didn't discover this until it was near closing time. The manager on duty, Colby, took such good care of me. He found a charger for my phone and set me up near an outlet in a closed cafe. He checked on me frequently, making sure I was safe and assured me that he wouldn't leave me until help arrived (about 2.5 hours).
The rest of the staff that I had the pleasure to talk with or do business with was as friendly as could be.
In today's highly competitive business world, high quality customer service can set a business far above all the others. Rock City is outstanding among its competitors for this reason. I look forward to bringing my family back there some day to share the same pleasure of my visit - minus the keys locked in the car of course.

After seeing ads up and down the east coast for many years, I had only assumed that this was a tourist trap. Oh my, how wrong I have been. My wife and I finally visited and thoroughly enjoyed the natural beauty. The original owners created trails through the huge rock formations showing off natural wonders. They also created some of their own with the fairy tale scenes deep within the rocks. The views from the overlooks are spectacular allowing visitors to enjoy the topography of the surrounding area.

Lots and lots of pictures taken at this location. The walk through the rocks was easy and mapped out well. Views were stunning and the entire location was very clean. Workers were friendly and there were special touches everywhere!

Wow, wasn't sure about this but we went based on other reviews and left totally satisfied. Price for admission seems high but after our 3+ hour time we realized we could have stayed longer and done more. We brought our dog along and it was a great adventure for him and us! Come planning to spend time to explore and appreciate this place is the vision of someone almost 90 years ago....really enjoyed it!

Best surprise of our trip! Beautiful grounds, easy tour and the views are incredible! Such a thoughtfully created attraction, we thoroughly enjoyed walking the trails and reading the stories and history. Easy to walk most of it, although there are some very tight areas to squeeze through. Each turn has another surprise, and the last section is a great finale! Worth every penny!!! They also did a great job with social distancing and Covid protocols. Felt very safe the entire time.

It has some fun points of interests for kid s like nursery rhyme room, and gnome trail a patio for limited food and drinks with great view of 7 states. Nice day of hiking but lots of steps if you are older. good things to look at besides just rocks like formations and bridges

Beautiful scenery and made for a lovely getaway! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. My husband and I enjoyed it !

Such a unique place with a surprise around every corner and beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Could go again and again.

While Rock City is absolutely a must see, we were very disappointed in the customer service at the mining section where you can purchase a bag of sand and sift through it to find your stones. I say "customer service" very lightly. Two younger employees were there, I walked up to the counter to pay for my item, and was completely ignored, they were chatting away. No acknowledgement whatsoever. I stood there a few minutes, and left. One looked up at me briefly, but put her head down and started talking to the other employee. There were literally no other customers. We were attempting to purchase something for our younger child.
Customer service in other areas was friendly and courteous.

Totally worth the money! There wasn’t one thing I didn’t like about Rock City. It really is a Hidden Gem. Pictures don’t do it justice. Would travel back to the area just to see this.

Great place to take a stroll around the rock formations and observation decks. There are plenty of places to stop and take a rest or enjoy the ambience. The fairy caverns were neat displays in a cavern setting. Needle eye and fat man's squeeze are areas which could be a problem for some who don't like tight spaces but they were short in length. There is also an alternate route for those with mobility issues. Neat place!

Great on a clear sunny day. Wear comfortable shoes and go during a weekday. It was still busy but not as bad as it could be. Take plenty of pictures. The drive up can be a little sketchy but really cool

Awesome view and beautiful scenery!!! Another one of God's beautiful creations on this Earth. Definitely have to enjoy each moment of this natural monument.

Beautiful scenery, beautiful setting, lots of good photo opportunities. Friendly, helpful staff. Overpriced, trails aren’t well marked.

Very cool! Amazing view from "Lovers Leap" despite being a little smokey the day I went. And to see the seven states plaque. So much to see walking Rock City.

Located in Chattanooga, TN, a beautifu space in the mountains. Paved walkways that wind around trees, landscape.. serene and relaxing. There are some areas that require little more effort but we took our 75+ parents and they did fine for most of it. w/c accessible in some areas but not all. At one point you can see multiple states and sit for a snack/drink. each season is decorated differently, winter lights are a nice sight.

A very beautiful garden and great views. The trails are very well maintained. Lots of steps! If you struggle with climbing stairs, take the modified trail you will still be able to reach Lovers Leap. Lots to see, and a great activity for children.

We drove over 2 hrs to see Rock City and when we got there were told it cost $23 00 per person just to see Water Fall and Look Out. The woman in the Gift Shop was very rude to us. As seniors we asked if there was another place to see it and she said, we could try hang gliding. Never will recommend this place. Unfriendly! Over priced! Cheaply made Birdhouses!

An easy and enjoyable trail leads to beautiful views and fairytale caverns. I was worried about my wild 3 yr old however there were plenty of places for us to stop and explore. The swinging bridge was the only place I had to carry him. It was worth it!

We had a great time walking around here! So much to see. The views are spectaular. We had a 2 yo, a 7 yo, and a 9yo, and they all really enjoyed it. We spent ~ 2 hours total. There is an inside part of the gardens, but you do not have to go.

Very unique place with beautiful rocks and amazing walk that leads you to an amazing waterfall. We visited rock city on saint Patrick’s weekend, which included special events with Scottish music and tap dancing. I was pleasantly surprised with the place and different stations made it look really magical for my kids. The arches and in general the mix of rocks and handmade bridges makes this place truly a place to visit and enjoy.

Very nice attraction that has a classic history. The path through the rocks is fun and interesting. The view from the mountain is amazing and beautiful.

Busy. Crowds. Disorganized. Great views.
Getting there is a traffic nightmare especially the closer you get to the four-way intersection before the parking area. The parking area is a nightmare and poorly organized and marked. ***Buy your tickets online ahead of time because there's not much to do unless you drive all the way back to town*** The park runs on timed entry so if you get there and buy your tickets, good luck filling in the time if you want to keep your parking spot. There's a crowded starbucks but thats about it. Everything else is inside the park.
When your timed entry nears, the attendants will yell out for your time group and tell you where to start lining up. To someone who doesn't know how the "system" works, it's a giant gaggle of chaos and nothing makes sense.
Once in the park, there are no water fountains (that I know of). I asked an employee he said you can fill up water bottles in the restroom sinks. Water for sale in vending machines along the trail.
Trail is narrow and one-way. Some of the trail walls and rails are extrmely low (shin height) so if you have young kids, hold their hand. A loss of balance could result in a bad accdient.
Views are amazing but the crowds are huge. Best view is the observation point that looks at Lover's Leap. Fat Man's Squeeze is not as bad as it looks from the top of the stairs. It's not that narrow and is over in less than 30 seconds of a slow walk.
There's a bird show in the park that was really cool.

We (4 adults) did a whirlwind tour of Tenessee and Kentucky, and tried to fit in too many things...we had already had a busy day, and it was about 4:00, so we contemplated skipping this event. SO glad we did not! It ended up being one of our favourite stops of the entire trip. The amount of thought and work that went into creating this oasis is mind-boggling. It is both incredibly beautiful and completely charming. The time in nature is restorative and there is something fascinating around every corner. Highly, highly recommended.

Wonderful place to visit. Magnificent vistas, very thoughtfully, created. Wonderful for children and people of all ages. We walked through two times as the first time I was so busy taking pictures that I wanted to go through it again and just enjoy the views.

First time visit and it did not disappoint for me. I love hiking trails and this was nice because you’re still in the woods but also surrounded by nature. Beautiful scenery. The banjo playing dude was awesome. Very well worth the trip

We had a decent experience at Rock City’s Enchanted Light Garden. The lights was very beautiful and the kids loved it, especially talking with Santa. The down side and what about ruined our experience was the ticket Nazis when you are trying to enter for the lights. Everyone has to buy their tickets online prior to arrival yeah understandable. The problem is when you arrive you wait in a long line because no one is there to inform you that you will not be able to enter until your exact ticket time. Instead you wait for several minutes and when you get to where they check your tickets you are told you cannot enter till the time it states on the tickets period. I mean you can arrive 30 minutes later than your tickets state and be ushered and welcomed in, but don’t get there 30 minutes early you’ll be treat like your being punished. Ridiculous too say the least. Whoever is over operations at this location needs to reevaluate things.

We drove past this many time and never stopped. It is well worth the visit. A couple back in the 50's designed to top of this mountain with the natural rock formations. The couple put some unique children's fairy tale m9ck ups in cut outs in the rock. Very cute. When this was made, they sent painters out to tell farmers that they would paint their barn if they could paint SEE ROCK CITY on the side of the barn for advertising. Very unique visit

Beautiful views and paths. Liked the diversity of views and displays. Can go at own pace and take it all in. Thought the cavern full of fairytales would be silly but is was awesome

Visiting during the sweltering heat, this was a great stop. It’s the perfect mix of natural gardens and rocks and man made trails. It has lots of shaded spots, cooler caves, amazing waterfalls, and scenic views

ROCK CITY
Another fun filled rock city outdoor adventure with a waterfall. Highly recommend if you are around chattanooga. Takes like 1hr back and forth and remember to pass through Fairyland Cavern its beautiful and end up to the Georgia winery place for free wine tasting.

The whole experience is amazing. We were leery at first about paying. We only wanted to see the 7 state lookout. But we were wonderfully surprised. The walk is awesome, beautiful and fun! Would be so much fun with kids, but we enjoyed it as just two adults.

Some friends and I drove up to "Sham"Rock City for the day. Rock City was in full St. Patrick's Day swing, as they had dyed the waterfall green, and had Irish decor, drinks and entertainment throughout the park. The park overall was a very easy walk, as every surface was paved and there were no times where the terrain was difficult. There was so much to see between the waterfall, all the gnomes, all the fun doors, and the fairyland caverns - that we spent about 2.5 hours here, and there was nothing in bloom so I can imagine in the spring/summer we would have spent even more time. There was a fairly decent sized gift shop and opportunities for wine samples from a Georgia Winery. There was also a place you could buy a Geode for $10 and break it open yourself. Overall, very fun place and would recommend to future visitors!

Stopped in on our way to Atlanta. 100% worth it. It was nice to stretch our legs, walk around, look at the views & the whimsical set up of the place. Would absolutley recommend.

We really enjoyed our visit and lunch outside at Seven restaurant was terrific.altogether worth going to see

Love Rock City! This place is magical and the views are gorgeous! Great place to get some exercise, especially if you have children that need to run around a bit. A must see if you are up in the area.

Shame on you Rock City!
I Love coming to Chattanooga. Small town feel with LOTS to do… fun attractions, great food, beautiful scenery and history. And, you can’t come here without visiting Rock City! Well, that was until now…
I’m not sure when they decided their prices need to match theme parks? You’re a hundred million year old mountain that never needs dusting, and your prices compare to Tennessee Aquarium that has tanks, fish, LOTS of specialized employees, oh, and PENGUINS!
And, when it’s Christmas you decided to throw out some Christmas lighting and double your price. And that doesnt include the daytime portion if you were already there - you pay again for the lights at 4p! I’m sure it’s pretty, but for $36 for an hour of light gazing? OH, and that’s not even correct… that’s the “advertised” price… when you actually buy the tickets they’re $47 (depending on what time of the day it is). Yeah, it goes up and down like a gambling pool at Vegas. So, a family of 4 to spend an hour admiring lights will set you back a cool $200! Ruby Falls, has GUIDED tours for 1-1/2 hours for half that.
So, I say for the final time… SHAME on YOU Rock City - you lost a visitor for life!

We all really loved this. It’s so relaxing walking through the rock formations and gardens. Really cool and beautiful. The fairy cave was so neat and whimsical. I would definitely recommend especially to those who love nature.

This was the gem I didn’t see coming! We are not crowd people and don’t like tourist areas, BUT this place was amazing! I loved every second of this! Granted I loved bridges and waterfalls! The heat was insane, but I would have been so sad to have missed this! Amazing!
WARNING: I will say, if you have a stroller, I don’t recommend the whole trail - Fat Man’s Squeeze is named that for a reason! And needle’s eye is a very tight squeeze, as well. You will have to fold up your stroller to get it through.

I took a chance on this since I was going with teens boys that get bored easily but we all loved it. The bridges, narrow paths, bouncy wooden bridges and glow in the dark nursery rhythms room all had exciting and fun moments. My likes don’t like heights or tight spaces but they made it through and expressed how much they enjoyed it. My favorite was getting to see 7 states from one location. Of course I don’t know where the state lines are but I is nice to look out and realize you can see many miles out. 5 Stars. I wish we could do the night tour. And we will try coming back in the spring.

We had a great trip to Rock City with our 10yr old son. He commented several times how cool it was. Parking was easy and it was a beautiful day to enjoy the rocks and views

We started at the train. I’m in a wheelchair and my mum was on a Walker. My dad and nephew had to go into the line on the other side instead of staying to help my mum & I. Once up the mountain we ate and then got back into the line to head back down. My dad & nephew went to the other side like we had to do on down the mountain. Once in line the girl got a nasty attitude with my dad after he told her the rest of his party was on the other side with a wheelchair & Walker. Once finally on the train the girl who rode down got an attitude about the door not being opened…..b/c of the wheelchair.
From there we drove up the mountain to take my nephew to mother goose garden. My parents went to get the tickets & asked questions about where it was. My mum was still on her Walker. We waited in line and got excited when we saw the ticket taker was in a wheelchair. Once we got into the park we went to ask how to get to the garden and the guy told us he didn’t know if my wheelchair would fit and he sent my dad to talk to someone else. They in turn sent him to another person who sent him to another person. I couldn’t even get into the store without blocking other guests.
Parking was a nightmare. We finally found a handicap spot, but I had to ride up the hill on the street because even though there was a crosswalk next to the handicap spot there wasn’t a ramp to get my wheelchair onto the sidewalk.
We couldn’t get our money back but they did offer us tickets for the next day, like it would be handicap accessible or I’d be able to walk the next day. Only one spot is handicap accessible and you can do it in about 5mins but you still have to pay full price.

Wheelchair parties have different needs. While Ruby Falls is not accessible at all, Rock City had an ADA trail to several of the attractions. It was great. My wife went to the lit up caves and she showed me the pictures. That would have been awesome but alas. My only disappointment is November is one of the busiest times but Cafe 7 says it is seasonal. Hello? November fall colors should be in-season. Instead we ate simple hotdogs at the Grill. With the crowds there should be more solid food fare. I also appreciated the pet policy and loved seeing all the dogs there. Maybe some doggie food choices as well should be integrated into park. The views were outstanding and memorable. Thank you for the wheelchair trail.

We loved it! Beautiful trails through rocks and forest with nice relaxing music playing. An occasional waterfall.... We loved the little fairyland cavern area with little scenes of nursery rhymes. It all felt like a different world sometimes. There are a few little shops in the main area. We bought some fudge and toys for the kids. We ate at the Rock Grill- which was ok food, but convenient.

Wasn't sure what to expect. The trail is well done with many beautiful sights. It's a beautiful location. Lovely waterfall, spectacular views, some great sculptures. I enjoyed the visit and it didn't feel too crowded even on Labor Day weekend. The Fairy land and mother goose are geared to kids but you can bypass those if you want .

It had been years since we went and I was shocked at how much it had improved. The trails are all rock and nicely landscaped. I did have a problem in dark areas seeing that some steps were wide and some normal and had to be careful to not fall. They also have two trails thru it, one being handicap approved and the other not. The trails are longer than I remembered and it takes longer to go thru it. They have really made it much prettier. The ticket process and entry is the only problem we had. I ordered tickets on line but, my tickets never came by email so getting this fixed at the venue was a pain. I would suggest that if you order tickets on line, print off your receipt or write down the confirmation number or something in case it don't work for you. .

For my family (two kids ages 2 and 5), this was the best part of the Lookout Mountain attractions. They both loved it and it was walkable throughout. Gorgeous views and was well decorated for Halloween while we were there!

Relaxing time with great views. The garden is well maintained and the path between rocks give it a special and surprising walk.

Parking is free. Tickets are pretty expensive, even if you purchase online with a 5$ discount. You need to book a timeslot. Lookout is nice, but not spectacular. The fairy tale cave is kitschy, but kids might love it. The bird show is entertaining and shows a couple of reginal birds. Conclusion: not a must-see.

We went to Rock City Light’s. The Christmas lights were beautiful. We ordered our tickets online 3 weeks in advance. We enjoyed our walk even with the fog and rain. We also ate at there restaurant. The food was pretty good. It started with a house salad. The entrée was chicken casserole, mask potatoes, Mac and cheeses, and pinto beans. The desert was cheese cake with strawberries for $24.95 a person.

We’ve been to Rock City a couple of times and the views are amazing and the rock formations are stunning. We visited this December to see the beautiful Christmas lights, it was so much fun. I loved seeing the nativity display the most.

The views are amazing, beautiful rock formations. You can see 7 different states at once. It is a lot of walking. Take breaks.

My wife and I loved our experience at Rock City!!! We did the Enchanted Lights. They had it setup great. All the Christmas decorations and then the views of Chattanooga at night are awesome.

You pay 20 dollars for an OK view and some stones which appear to have the look of a tortoise… there‘s not more to say… The art of sales in full bloom…

The best way to describe the experience…an enchanted forest at the top of a mountain. I was amazed by all the beauty and you just didn’t know what was going to be around the corner. We took our 5 yo twins and dog, they all loved the experience. We spent 2.5 hours there. It’s pricey but worth it!

This attraction is not for very young children, don’t waste your money or time! The website FAQ is quite inaccurate. If you are thinking of brining a stroller it will only get you from the parking lot to the gift shop. 90% of the place is not ADA or stroller accessible. Even after ditching stroller carrying our son was not even an option to see the attraction after we went down some steps we could not even get through the first small passage way. You can’t fit though with a backpack never mind a kid carrier or just plain trying to carry your child! After having this on my wish list of things I wanted to see in our travels I am so disappointed that we were not able to see more then 50 feet of it! Just want to warn other families, as their website is very misleading. Also they have a map that has 5 trails we were also told it’s more like 2 and to enter it’s all though the one area we tried. If you are going to visit make sure you and family members are good with walking on own and don’t carry anything unless your leaving it behind. Quite disappointed, and not a good memory made on our sons first family vacation

Unexpected gem with scenic vistas and waterfall. Easy hike up and down, beautiful gardens along the way.
There are bathrooms and refreshments at the top
Recommend getting advanced tickets if going during the peak season

A must do for families who enjoy the outdoors. Our large family enjoyed the narrow passages and great views. All ages also enjoyed their indoor fairy tale area. Overall, I highly recommend and our adult children are going back in the fall.

Loved this place! The views are breathtaking, the trail is shaded and easy to walk. Was our favorite stop in Chattanooga area. My 9 year old niece didn’t get bored.

There’s so much more to see here than you might imagine. Allow plenty of time so that you’re not hurried. And YES! It is well worth visiting in winter too!
Beautiful Lights
We have been coming here to see the Christmas lights for a few years. It is a wonderful family place to go to enjoy Christmas and get a little bit of a work out traveling the maze of rocks and tunnels. The terrain can be a little bit tricky so make sure to wear comfy flat shoes. Defiantly a place I would recommend for an annual trip.
