2 of 40 Best Attractions in Rockport

Rockport beach is very nice. They charge $10 per car to get in for a day pass and $40 for a yearly pass. You can go in-and-out as you please with your pass. There are plenty of parking spaces and the beach is very clean. when you bring your stuff in they have some palapa huts where you can sit to have some shade and they also have picnic tables with a structure built around them for shade.
The water is pretty warm, like bath water. The Ocean is nice but if you are looking for big waves this beach did not have any during the 3 days we were here. Today it was like a lake with very few waves. You can walk out really far and it does not get deep. This is a great beach for kids or people who are not real good at swimming because it does stay shallow for quite a long time.
There is a shaved ice guy but other than that I did not see a lot of vendors of food. It's best to bring your own picnic and drinks.
I would definitely come back here again.

Very well maintained. Clean. Best beach in the area by far. Nice shower/ restroom. The building closest to the gate has the showers. The building at the far end has a restroom. Many portable toilets. Attendants at the gate are friendly. $5 for a day pass or $20 for the year. Nice pier for fishing. Lots of parking close to the beach. Covered picinic tables. Many palapa's on the beach for shade. Water is mostly under 2 foot for a long ways out into the water. Deeper water is in the salt pool area. You can bring coolers, food, water toys, chairs, etc. They do have a lot of bbq grills for use. Boat ramp. Building & covered areas for event rental. Beach patrol is usually around. It is comforting knowing they are keeping an eye on things.

This is a great beach! Love coming here. Very clean, little to no seaweed and the water is shallow for a long way out.
Bring your own chairs, drinks, food etc.
As of today day passes are $5 and annual passes are $20.

You will love this beach and the town of Rockport, Texas. The inland lagoon is very nice as well. We were here for the birding. Lots of shore birds and song birds. We saw birds here we cannot see in Chicago area.
The beach look comfortable and would enjoy the day at this beach. The town is wonderful. We stayed at the Pelican Bay Resort in the Rooms not the cabins. Nice place as well.

Fun time. The beach was clean. Shallow for small kids. The pavilion area was under construction. Showers available near the entrance and porta potty was clean.

We took my 16 year old and 11 year old. The beach isn't that fine sand that is great for sand castles as it had lots of small rocks in it.
The beach has benches, some cabanas, and showers to wash off. I saw port a potties, but I don't know if they had permanent toilets.
It wasn't very crowded. I suspect most people head out to Port A for larger waves.
It was pleasant enough for a couple of hours.

Beach time often comes with its share of idiocy. Free beaches are often littered with trash, both human and commercial. Having toured the world's beaches, I have a deep understanding of what defines mainstream in terms of beach behavior.
Rockport Beach seems to be different!
You have the crowds, as with any popular beach destination. However, the types of folk seem to be less wild and out of control types, and lean more to the side of respectful types, whether families, small groups or couples.
There is plenty of clean sand to play in and you can wade out rather far enjoying this same feel. No shells or rocks or glass! There was ample parking, despite being crowded, and lots of shaded areas with public restrooms, tables and showers.
The $5 fee helps keep MOST of the human trash out.
There is a natural swimming pool, a fishing pier, a bird watching area and were even some food trucks set up.
For 'public' beach entertainment, I would say Rockport Beach is by far one of the safest, cleanest family-friendly beaches around.

Took small children, and water level was AMAZING,. Nice current but no waves to worry about or rip currents. Not a lot of sand or sea shells, but atmosphere was Wonderful. Rinse off stations, and restrooms were super clean. only negative is the nesting area allows a lot of Seagull's which people have fed so much they are a nuisance. Stole two slices of sandwich bread while making a sandwich. So watch out for them.

Fun to take a trip to ! We had fun and seen the sights there ! We looked at some of the shops there and spent the afternoon there.

We have been to numerous beaches on the gulf and both coasts, and Rockport beach is one of the absolute most pleasant and well suited for families with children. More food trucks would be ideal.

My husband and I visited Rockport for the first time this weekend and fell in love with it. Rockport Beach is particularly charming and there is so much to do there; the beach, a playground, an aquarium, a museum ... The beach has nice facilities and there is even a separate section for beach-goers with pets, which I think is nice if you're not particularly a dog lover. Parking is free, and it's just a nice place to hang out with the family.

$5 to get all day pass or $20 for the year. They do have a pier and also a saltwater pool besides having the regular beach. Plenty off families and single couples.
That time of year for jellyfish and there were plenty of them in the first area we tried, But other areas not as bad. Clean kept up beach.

Loved it!!! Beach was Clean, peaceful and not crowded. Restrooms were clean. Will definitely go back.

This is my favorite place to walk. I get there early and enjoy the seabreeze. If you don't want to pay the entry fee, you can park at the entrance. No traffic, no dogs just you the birds.

We took a quick trip to Rockport Texas for a family function. The following places are musts!
Beautiful Sunsets and the Moon light over the water. So many Stars!
Blue Heron Nesting area. Fantastic bird watching.
VRBO Beach house in Key Allegro , Riviera St. Excellent!
Knarly Marlin Resturant Lobster bites and Collossal Shrimp, burgers, steaks. Something for the whole family.
Taqueria Puerto Vallarta Resturant!
Stella Maris Church in Fulton, over 150 yrs old.. Historical and lovely! Built from Seashells.

Enjoyed the cleanliness of the beach, with small thatched roof shelters providing relief from the sun. Waves are small and water is shallow, so it's great for young children. We did see a few jelly fish.
Covered picnic tables are available on a first come first serve basis in a grassy area with playground equipment. Drawback:
sand burrs! Shoes are a must!
Large natural salt water lagoon is available in another area, as are outdoor showers. Public restrooms are available but did not use.

Beautiful beach it was rated # 1 in 2015 it's big they have pavilions to rent out and there is a cost to enter the beach under 10 bucks

Clean and safe beach - very shallow with plenty of wading opportunities. Not a crashing waves sort of place, this is a gentle bay with lapping little waves. Nice sandy beach to play in and the palapa shade structures are terrific. Several picnic areas and a big playground for kids. We fished here a couple times but didn't have much luck.

Fantastic beach, not to crowed and the water is incredible. We were amazed how far you could walk out and it wasn't to deep. Fantastic beach and we will be back next year.

Rockport Beach suffered a lot through the past hurricane season. I have been here both before and after the storms. It is a quaint beach town whose residents have truly rallied to bring the area back and they have done a great job.

One of the gems of the Texas Gulf Coast. This is really like a shallow protected bay, and your kids can wade out in ankle/knee deep water and have a great time exploring. Plus, they can pick up hermit crabs right out of the water. They will be surprised when they see a sea shell start to walk away. There are grassy areas nearby for picnics and the sand is clean and frequently manicured. There is a nearby pier for fishing, and it's fun to walk out onto the gulf. You can pay to drive and park further down the beach, but there is ample free parking. The beach is near Rockport/Fulton's dining and shopping areas. This is a really friendly and easy to negotiate beach for families, especially those with smaller children. If you like to be pummeled by larger waves, you will want to try Port Aransas or Padre Island.

Water is typical Gulf and the sand is pretty coarse...its certainly not Port A but its nice and local.

My husband and I were able to go walk on the beach a couple of days while when we spent a long week-end at Rockport.
It was warm enough Saturday that we took our little dog too. There is a section of the beach that dogs are allowed.
The beach is always very clean and I love getting one of the covers to put my beach blanket
under.

This beach is amazing!! Calm, quiet and perfect for small kids, no waves at all, very clean, warm waters. we definitely will be back!!p eople are very friendly too!!

My husband is working in the area. The beach is nice enough. Not overly crowded. $5 per day or $20 for year. I was going to buy the year pass but my husband wasn’t allowed to use it after I leave. It’s a sticker and isn’t allowed to switch vehicles. I ended up paying a couple days but spent most of my time at the beach in Port Aransas. It’s a short drive, gorgeous free beach and not crowded.

Well maintained facility, good family location. This man made beach has a wonderful view of Aransas Bay.

Rockport beach is always a nice place for family beach day .love rhis place, but they need to hurry up and fix shower and changing room summer is just around the corner and much of the city is still recovering from harvey

got away for romantic getaway love this little town would love to move there some day, always nice and clean

The only drawback to this beautiful beach is the fact you have to pay to get on it. The fee is not bad and I'm sure the money helps to pay for keeping it clean. We waded in the waters and had a great afternoon watching the waves and the birds.

This beach is very narrow and the water is very shallow. There were very small waves and no rip tide while we were visiting. We just stayed at the end of the beach before the gate where parking is free. It's not a very long beach, so it Is very easy to walk the length of it and back.
Surprisingly, it really wasn't extremely crowded for a holiday week-end.
People are allowed to bring their dogs at the far right side of the beach, and the dogs were romping in the water while we were there. (It's probably not a good idea to swim there!)
We watched the fireworks at the entrance to the beach on the fourth and they were very good. The people from Rockport even offered to share their food and invited us to join them!

Beautiful, clean beach in a quiet beach town during the off season (Oct - April). May through September the beach becomes very crowded, and you have to get there early to get a spot. Great place to make family memories.

This beach is open again from the Virus but they ask that you practice social distancing while there. This is a very clean beach, Texas Beach Watch runs tests twice a week and the beach always high marks and no poop in the water.

We took our dog to the cove by the pier. It’s dog friendly. There were lots of dogs in the water having fun. There was also a festival in the park grounds

We were staying in Aransas pass and didn't want to take the ferry so we drove to Rockport instead. Cute little country town for sure. Very typical of TX. The beach was easy to find. We parked outside the paid parking area and walked in.
1) there were a LOT of dog poop in the grassy areas. You had to watch where you walked to avoid stepping in it.
2) the beach looked pretty but was crowded
3) the sand on the beach is coarse. We had to keep our flip flops on to walk down to the water. It sand was uncomfortable bare foot.
4) the water looks very shallow for a long ways out (we chose not to go in as they had recently reported jellyfish in the water after the tropical storm)
5) there weren't any waves to worry about
* our hotel staff told us the water here is more salty than elsewhere. Not sure since we didn't swim. We left after 15 minutes. :(
Though I may visit Rockport again, I won't go to the beach.

Rockport beach is easy to access, there is a free parking area or you can pay to drive down the beach a ways (on a paved road). It was kinda small and close to the highway which takes away from the ambience, but it was a nice well maintained beach. The best part is that there are virtually no waves and pretty clear water, so we didn't have to worry so much about our 4 year old, and our 1 year old could easily sit in the shallows and splash around without getting knocked down by waves. The kiddos really loved it.
We went at night as well and caught a handful of hermit crabs and a couple of ghost crabs!

I've loved coming to Rockport Texas for almost 40 years. But I've seen a sad decline in the quality of the experience in the last few years. These days there are so many jellyfish in Little Bay that you can't really enjoy the water. Literally a jellyfish is every 4 or 5 inches along the pier and every 2 feet along the beach and into the bay. What used to be a wonderful time in the surf and sand is now just a few minutes of walking on the shore trying to but step on the thousands of washed up moon jellyfish. And walking in the water is guaranteed stinging with the hundreds of thousands of jellyfish here. I think it's because Rockport discharges its treated sewage into Little Bay and that chokes out the oxygen with algae blooms and all the extra "nutrients" from both their treated sewage and untreated stormwater are simply killing the bay. It's been a few years of rapid decline now and my family and I may finally be giving up on Rockport. I've been 4 times this summer so far and 8 times in 2025 and it's been the same every time. 2024 was the same every trip as well, but just not as dense as this year. Only winter trips were without massive jellyfish blooms but then still had too much algae from the same discharge. This used to be the best place for families because of the protected beach and lack of drunken party environment, but if your kids are getting stung constantly and can't even build sand castles without jellyfish in them it's just not the same. As much as I truly hate saying this, until Rockport refuses to stop discharging their treated sewage into the bay this is not a fun vacation spot anymore. You can't even consistently get live shrimp to fish with at the bait shops because of the jellyfish. I'm sorry, Rockport. I love you but you're just too toxic these days. I recommend going down the road to Port Aransas. I'll be exploring other towns along the coast that cares more for their natural environment than Rockport.

We usually go to Port A (from Austin) but decided to try this beach because it was closer and the cost of lodging was a lot less.
I had read the reviews and wanted to respond to them.
1. Jellyfish. I didn't see a single one all day. I suspect this can vary frequently and you either get luckily or not.
2. Water. It's not "crystal clear". It's the same as Port A. It is true that you have to walk hundreds of feet to get to waist deep water. If you want to go out to neck level you're barely going to be able to see the umbrellas back on the shore...you have to go far out. It feels like an optical illusion when you first see people that far out still standing in such shallow water. If your kids are into body boarding, it's not going to happen here. If you go out rally far you can get an ocean like wave experience only the waves don't break.
3. Sand. It's not super soft white powdery sand in my opinion, it's full of ground up shell/rocks. It's ok, just not as described by some others.
4. Infrastructure. Needs some more places to rinse sand off. Bathroom area was a bit sketchy. More shade huts would be nice.

It was a beautiful beach, and the guard at the gate let us in for free since we were there for our anniversary. The water and the beach was very clean. The waters were shallow and you had to walk out quite a ways to get in deeper water, but that's what I prefer.

Great place to visit. Kids can go a long way out in the water and still be just fine. Shallow and fun

We went in early February on an unusually warm day. It was like a little slice of heaven. The beach was clean and uncrowded, with a playground, covered picnic tables, restrooms, showers, and cabanas for relaxing in the shade. The people were quiet, friendly, and not very numerous. We stayed for three hours, and the time sped by. Kids waded out, though the water was chilly, and caught tiny crabs, shrimp, and sea snails with a hand net. Even the small kids were fearless because the water is shallow and the waves were small, but there's also a deep-water swimming hole. There is a charge (per vehicle, not per person) for entering the beach: $5 for a single visit or $20 for a year-long pass. It's well worth it!

Very clean beach! Quiet! Family friendly! We will definitely be back with the rest of our family this summer!

My favorite place to visit in Rockport other than Mac's BBQ. Outstanding Walking/Bike Trails. Shoreline is shallow and easy to walk in. Beaches are groomed. Walking out on the jetty gives you a nice view. Love watching all the barge traffic. Can't wait to see the pavillions restored to normal.

This is a very nice beach that is great for families. The water is shallow for the first 100 feet or so which is nice for younger children.

We live very close to Rockport Beach. It's beautiful and the people are very friendly here. $5.00 per car per day or $20 for a year membership. Pet friendly. Very pretty and clean.

Texas Rivera...This a super clean, classy, calm one of a kind Texas beach! Total blast, but minimal wave action, no dogs & must park and carry beach & bbq necessities. This beach is totally worth the restrictions as this is what helps keep it so beautiful with area for nesting birds, pavilions, pier, etc. Love It!

They groom this beach every day and it is very clean. The beach is a coarse sand and there was very little kelp or seaweed on shore. There are small children's play areas, but they are not much. The beach and Gulf of Mexico are the main draw.

there was plenty to do games, food trucks, snow cones, very nice restrooms and a little park area for the kids .also a nice small dog area.

Very clean family beach. They have shade options built on the beach as well as covered picnic tables. Unfortunately they cannot control the jellyfish or when they decide to show up. We got there and there were so many jellyfish in our area that we did not go in the water for fear of getting stung. $5 a day for the entire car is a great deal. Will go back.

We had not been to Rockport in years. We returned to the beach over Easter Weekend and it was great. If you are looking for waves this is not the place due to the fact that it is a bay. Very relaxing and extremely clean. Restrooms are within walking distance and were extremely clean. Great spot to relax and kick back not having to worry about the kids getting swept out by an undertow.
Great family fun.

Clean water, clean sand, not too crowded, overall really good beach for families and children, with easy access.

There's not much to do in Rockport if you don't fish so it was nice to have a little beach with nice sand and calm, shallow water.

A seaside town of breathtaking beauty where to say that it is beautiful is an understatement. The houses, the streets, the shops and the people who populate it make this city a unique place and it is truly a destination not to be missed. Albertop

Man made beach. Gravel, does not compare to Padre Island or Florida. Great pier for sightseeing or fishing. Can walk in with no charge. Car drive in $10. No pets on beach. Small segment near museum with pets allowed and pier at this end as well.

Is a very nice beach, absolute, the only one in Rockport. You have to pay $5 to get in. The beach is clean. The only thing I do not like is that you can NOT take your dog there. In sumer months is very crowdy but from fall is quiet. The next close beach will be in Mustang Island (Port Aransas) and yes, you can bring fido there; miles and miles of beach to choose.

such a scenic drive! a must do for sure when you're in the area! Such pretty houses, looking at the water, the piers, etc.

We had not been here before. This is such a neat little town with a lot to do. There are some places still working on recovery, but there are plenty of businesses up and ready to make our stay very enjoyable. I can't wait to come to Rockport again!

The new boat ramp is very nice and the whole area looked to be kept very clean, the ramp is no longer free and is 5$ per day or 20$ for the season.

We were met at the gate and asked if we could just drive through and look but were told no since we had a dog in the car. Rude woman, for no reason. Whatever.

Rockport is known for fishing but they do have a small beach as well. The beach 🏖 is not sandy so plan on bringing chairs to sit on. It’s clean and close to town and there is usually not much of a crowd. Restaurants and shopping are nearby.

Christmas on the beach was wonderful. Rockport beach is very clean. Water too cold for the 75 degree day but looked clean. Nice individual shade "trees", picnic tables and soft sand to play games or build sandcastles. Bathrooms not working day we were there so had to opt for the portable. We paid $10 to enter. Worth it.

The beach was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The was very clear and it has wonderfully facilities. We hope to return next year.

this beach has been voted one of the top 10 beaches in Texas!!! it is a great beach to bring your family to. It is a small beach but it is well maintained and beautiful

This is by far the cleanest beach on the Gulf Coast. The crews come by early morning to rake the beach and remove trash and debris. With a fishing pier, facility rentals for events, beach shade, covered areas for picnics, salt water pool, and food vendors this is one do not miss place.

Tiny beach, hard sand, nice facilities. Not crowded at all with all day parking offered. A great place for picnics and relaxing.

My family and I have been coming here for about 20 years, and I just love this place. I live 40 minutes from Galveston, but prefer driving 3 hours south for this one! I am one of those people that just likes to go to the beach to relax, read a book, and just pass the time. In other words, you won't find me trying to catch the perfect wave or organizing a fierce game of beach volleyball. That being said, it provides just enough action for our family. My husband and son play with kites and footballs and have fun riding the little waves that carry them to the shore. There's also playgrounds, but we always have more fun on the sand!
I like this beach first of all because it's in the lovely town of Rockport. Secondly, it's just a nice, clean, family-friendly beach. You pay $5 to get in (or $20 for a yearly pass - worth it), but lots of other beaches charge way more than that just to park. I appreciate that the money goes to keep it up a bit more than your average beach. We don't see a lot of trash around, there's not really riff-raff or big party animals, and the facilities are top notch for a beach. I also like that there's ample benches and picnic tables to sit on, and if you need a break, the pavilions offer nice shade. (You can also rent the pavilions for events - I'm totally doing this for my next big birthday!) The public restrooms on the ground floor of the pavilions are really nice compared to most other beaches. We're not talking the Ritz, but they're nice and roomy and cleaned regularly.
I didn't think they allowed pets or glass, but we totally saw a cute doggo near us, so I could be wrong. He was cute enough to stay in my opinion!
It also always seems bigger than I remember. I mean the sand area isn't amazingly wide, but it's longer than you think! When we leave, we always like to drive through the parking lot down to the end and look at the birds. There's a nesting area opposite the water. There's really a lot of beach! I've been to some very fancy beaches in various parts of the Mediterranean, but this is a pretty great place to take your family.

If you have young children and want a safe place where dad can fish and mom can kayak and you can grill or walk to shopping then this is your park.

This is my favorite beach in Texas, I don't like beaches that you can drive on or big crowds, so this was perfect! $5 entrance fee is totally worth it. Beach was clean, shade cabanas a nice feature (though they should have built them lower to ground to provide more coverage), covered picknic tables, water was shallow so great for kids, no big waves. However, not a good beach for shell hunting and my daughter did get stung by a jellyfish. Overall a decent beach especially for little kids. Unfortunately Texas doesn't have any really good beaches.

The best part to me about Rockport Beach is the Saltwater Pool! It is roped off from the water traffic so it feels comfortable and safe for all ages to swim and boat-watch. The perfect spot to catch some sun. My family and enjoy every visit. Remember, there is a $5 cash only fee to get in.

This is a very family friendly beach, perfect for families with small children. The water level is really low for the first 100 yards or so, and the waves are quite gentle. We don't have small children anymore, but I am tired of getting knocked over constantly by the waves at South Padre. You pay $5 to get in, but if you don't want to pay, you can park outside and walk in, as the fee is for vehicles only. On the beach are palapas, set a bit back are picnic tables and cabanas, and you don't have to pay to use any of those. Every picnic table has its own covered trash can, which is very convenient. The parking is very close to the beach, so you don't have to haul your things very far. There are play places for children on the beach, and pavilions with public restrooms and showers.

It was a very windy evening but there were kids enjoying the pier, Lots of families lounging, a photographer using it as a backdrop, people walking their pets, etc. A calm and relaxing beach evening just walking my dog.

Nice man made beach. Good Day Trip. Boat Launch, and Public Restrooms. Nice night lights where you can clean your fish.

Nice small, crowded beach that cost $5.00 a day to get into. Clean older restrooms and showers. Has place for young kids to swim.

We went on a Saturday and it got crowded quickly. The beach doesn't have huge waves so won't knock this little ones down. They can enjoy the water and the sand. The beach was clean and the water isn't very deep.

There is a beach nearby we’ve always gone to but this beach was way better. Cleaner and friendlier. Only 2 1/2 hours from home, this is our beach from now on.

Love this little beach town. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing getaway this is perfect!! The beach was clean, water was warm and clear. Everyone we met were so friendly and nice. Not somewhere to go if you are looking for a lot of attractions but, wonderful for peace and quiet and relaxation. Would love to live there some day!

Beach are clean and safe for children and family
Sighting birds nest and water with pretty sunset
There have playground and good seeing wide around

$5.00/day entry fee or a yearly sticker for $20.00. Nice boat launching area, ski basin, family friendly. Close to grocery stores, downtown shops, restaurants etc.

Beach was extremely clean and not overly crowded. There is a charge, but I think it was extremely worth it. Saw no evidence of jellyfish. We did have some small fish nibbling on our hands and toes.

Lots to see along the beach road. We just drove around back and forth took lots of pictures of the trees mostly.

Clean, very clean beaches, picnic tables, lots of restrooms, family oriented, not fast paced, great for kids, family, shopping, great eating, and fishing.

This is a great beach for the family, from its easy access to its family friendly beach and water. The waves are generally small and the water shallow in close to the beach. The city keeps the area clean.

Visited in June and loved the birding area. There were a lot of baby seagulls. In August we fished in a channel at the end of the beach and watched a fabulous sunset.

We were at Rockport Beach during Spring Break 21, and Absolutely fell in love with the clear water beautiful white sands
Visiting again 7/25/21 and oh my goodness what happened to the water it’s green !
We did notice ships that carry oil in the distance ,
So sad the water looks like swamp water and it smells like oil
I hope the ships go away and the water comes back the way it used to be.

The water is only thigh deep for a great distance, so the kids felt super comfortable. The littles played with toys and the bigs made friends and started a sand volleyball game. Great spoke! Pay the $5 to drive down 👍🏽

Good fishing pier. Boat launch facilities. May - June the drive through bird sanctuary has nesting terns. From your car you can see the nests and watch the baby birds! Word of caution - after dark reptiles like to lie on the warm sidewalks and catch insects. Don’t let children play unattended after sunset because of the critters! Bring a kite to fly in the sea breeze. You’ll want to return to Rockport Beach time and again.

Was only in town for a short time and went to the park to view and photograph nesting birds. I was very disappointed with individuals harassing the birds by driving vehicles close to and even through groups of birds at the edge of a parking lot. Even though they charge an admission fee, in the several hours I was there I didn't see any type of security or authority.

Rockport is a hidden Gem! This beach is so clean. Great for small children. Be careful though the jelly fish are also here on vacation. :)

This is my favorite beach. The only thing missing is the sound of the waves crashing, but being able to walk to the aquarium, the art gallery, the weather center, the restrooms, restaurants, and motel are well worth the quiet... For little kids and those of us who just like to enjoy the sun and walking in the water without getting swamped, it's the very best beach EVAH

This beach is nice. Clean in and out of the water. It's a "Blue Wave" beach which means it's tested frequently for bacteria and other agents in order to keep it clean.

Am a Rockport local so have an annual pass. This beach has a really great area that has calm water where young kids can play. The coast beach has a very gradual drop off and small to moderate waves which are also great for young kids or swimmers. Not crowded. We enjoy going here with visitors

We spent a weekday morning at low tide just sunning and enjoying the water. Price was so reasonable -- $5 for a whole-day pass. Not too many people. Water was clean, and you could walk out a long way without rough water or getting too deep. Especially nice with a 2.5-year-old.

Attended a Hummingbird Festival event in one of the beach facilities. This beach is well kept and the facilities are available for events. There are ramps making them wheelchair accessible. There is a nice water front view. Our event was catered.

This was one of my fave beaches ever. It’s clean, shallow so you can sit in it for a good ways until it gets deeper, and great for kids. We got there early so it wasn’t very busy until later. Stayed most of the day and had a great time!! Parked close enough so hauling stuff wasn’t too bad. There are grass covered shades to get under as well. Awesome!

Love the beach! Especially in Rockport, TX! Arrandas is a great place for great breakfast! And Oysterfest was fabulous!!!

We enjoy it here. It’s usually not that crowded, nice sand and clean. We bought a year pass for $20 and plan to use it!!

A very nice clean Beach. There are picnic tables and grills and smokers all over, as well as a lot of Cabanas. Beautiful place can walk, not overly crowded, and the views are at every angle

Beach is so nice, they offer huts for public use for free! Nice family environment, you can see through the water. Stays shallow for a bit which is nice!

- Highlights: It is about 3 minutes from Fulton harbor and you can get to it from a road (Broadway) along the Laguna. It has several palapas (grass umbrellas) and the sand is a mixture of coarse and fine sand. You can fish there on the pier or in the water since you have water up to your thighs for 40 to 100 feet depending when you go. In the evening, we saw a lady who was there at the end of thew parking lot with 2-3 sliced breads feeding the seagulls.
- Lowlights: Not worth the $10 entrance fee; park before you get tot eh payment booth (see tip below).
- Tip: Make sure you get there early so you can park along the Laguna where people launch kayaks; it was free. Or you can go to the parking lot before the beach entrance and save $ 10 by walking a few feet to the beach.

Nice beach area. We visited multiple times during a week’s stay in Rockport. The small public area is free and open to pets. The water and tide are so calm in this area. You can wade out pretty far and it’s waist high for an adult. Lots of kids swimming. This area gets filled up pretty fast but you can pay $10 to access the larger mile long beach area. This area has lots of tables and canopies and it was very busy most days. The beach was pretty clean and you can see the marks from the sand cleaning trucks. It was clean the times we went. We did see a lot of seaweed and water is not as clear as other areas on the gulf. One evening there were lots of jelly fish so we didn’t swim just played on the edge. The other days it was clear and the tide was calm. This beach felt safe and clean and family friendly.

Rockport is a great fishing and artist community. Rockport/ Fulton were heavily damaged in hurricane Harvey. The recovery is slow however, Rockport remains strong. Many hotels and restaurants are open. The fishing is great whether it is redfish, flounder, black drum or trout..
The Texas coast is laid back. Beautiful birds and sunsets. Make a trip to this part of Texas. You won't regret it

The beach is small compared to others. But it is clean and beautiful. No dogs are allowed. It is a get beach for kids because it is more like a lake than a beach since there are no waves or undertow to worry about. Would definitely return.

Beaches are all over the place, with the water rarely getting very deep until way the heck out there.

Rockport beach is a nice beach area. Both Family and pet friendly. Water is not bright blue but is nice and clear. Sandy bottom, plenty of shallow areas to wade.

This is a small beach but it is great for kids. There a large number of covered picnic benches with grills, covered umbrella beach spots and showers. The kids loved it!

Every once in awhile it feel good to go to the beach, enjoy the breeze and the view while sitting in the shade smoking a great cigar. I highly recommend trying this, enjoy.

The beach is beautiful and has covered picnic tables with palms. Husband went fishing and enjoyed himself. Saw dolphins by the breakwater. It was a fun experience.

This is a nice sandy beach. Great for young kids because there are no waves really, the water is usually calm but is very salty. There is very good parking, but otherwise the facilities need an upgrade. The bathrooms and picnic areas are not quite up the standard i've seen at other places. I thought the bathrooms were were dirty. Also there ant really any good changing areas and not many showers on the beach. Overall the beach is nice but facilities could be upgraded.

We were recommended by co workers to come here and we loved it. Great family atmosphere. Not much loud music or drunk people which is why we come back. Also not many jellyfish so far that we been there!

its a nice body of water if you just want to drive by. or go fishing eat great food and socialize . BUT if you want in the drink not so fun, I think.

Nice quiet and well kept beach. Easy parking and not at all busy considering the timing of our visit.

Rockport beach is so pretty and impeccably clean! This is a perfect place to come and relax by yourself and also a great place to bring your family. This beach is perfect for little kids because there aren't many waves but there is also a part of the beach that is made for children to swim safely without the worry of jellyfish or anything of that matter. There's also "The Circle" where the older crowd goes to hang out, drink and play horseshoes and other beach games. It's a perfect place to take your boat out, there are somewhat clean restrooms, volleyball nets, and also a snow cone truck that's usually always at the beach if there's pretty weather. I would definitely recommend this beach if you're in the Rockport area!

Love this beach so much that I don’t want to recommend it. It’s a clean, well maintained park. I’m sad that folks still litter but it is still cleaned regularly and a great spot for bird watching and sunrise walks.

Perfect. No one on the beach in early December. Clean. Only minus is two off sightings of people who had dogs when dogs are not allowed. Large fines hopefully would correct this. Say....500 bucks if you can't read the signs or you couldn't care less about society?

You can actually see your feet in the water!
The water doesn't get very deep due to sand bars. We finally got in up to chest level, but felt like we walked a mile out.
Over all great beach. Clean. Not crowded. Soft sand. Found a few shells.
They do have restrooms with showers. A boat launch on the bay side.
Can't bring pets, but drinking a few beers is allowed.

Day at the beach was great! Well kept-clean beach. Sand is a bit course. (seems to be crushed shells-takes some getting used-to) Otherwise, it very, very nice. Entrance fee is very reasonable.

Our sleepy little fishing paradise! Rockport has been in our lives since we were kids and now we get to bring our kids! LOVE everything about Rockport beach!

Clean, dogs allowed in specific areas few tables come early if you want one. Free area and also a $10daily fee area. Can go in and out that day without paying again same day. Restaurants in town but within walking distance. Food truck may be there in the summer months but not sure.

We were looking for wildlife and had heard about Rockport beach as a place to see birds. We saw a lot of herons and pelicans. Quite a few other species also. It is pretty much just a beach. No hiking trails, but nice facilities

Went on Good Friday. Was not over crowded. Loved the clean water ! Kids had a blast. Only complaint is the public restrooms are disgusting.

Love this park — rode our bikes out and as avid bird watchers, we loved enjoying all the laughing gulls and the migratory bird breeding grounds. Good work, Rockport, to save this space for the birds.

It was a warm but windy day on the beach. Not much of a crowd for a Saturday. $5 a day to enter or $20 for a season pass. Clean and groomed beach. Restrooms were clean. Would definitely come here again.

Enjoyed it. Teens played on boogy boards and bag toss. Well worth entrance fee. Clean. Close to food and local shops. Porta cans close by. Parking plentiful.

Beautiful and clean! We really enjoyed our day here. $10 for parking for the day and they had nice clean shaded picnic tables. They get taken fast so come early! Every single person we encountered here was extremely friendly. One of the nicest beaches i’ve been to in Texas

Hundreds of thousands of ants all over the beach - you cannot even sit in a chair to relax, everything will be covered in ants within minutes including you. Then there’s the mosquitos - horrific. There’s also a large amount of jellyfish all throughout the shallow waters so not safe for children to swim. Water was murky and warm. So disappointed.

For South Texas, this is a nice facility and great for families. Since vehicles are not allowed on the beach, the area is MUCH safer than many beaches in Corpus Christi (were we live) and Port Aransas. This Rockport beach has three distinct areas: a beach, a swimming area with no waves (referred to as the salt water pool), and a “racetrack” bayside that circles around a little island popular with birds for nesting. In March 2022, the Rockport Rotary donated 2 telescopes that are installed on a nice covered shelter that are aimed at the nesting island. Very nice, with 2 benches.

The beach is well kept, only in the evening I saw some bottles and trash left by rude people. The sand is not the finest and it is hard to the touch, with tiny pebbles, very similar to river sand. Next time I will remember to bring some chairs.
The water was warm, green, and cloudy, typical of a lagoon. You cannot see your feet or the sand. It is safe for children because it is very shallow.
There are bathrooms and showers but I didn't use them, so I cannot comment on them.
Do not feed the seagulls otherwise they don't leave you alone anymore 😜
The entrance fee is $ 5 for the day or $ 20 for the whole year and it is well worthy.

Very nice and clean. Best Texas beach we have been to! We used the picnic tables provided and they were close to the beach. We will be back next year.

Family of 5 with ages 3,6,7
Two day trip
$5 day pass or $20 annual pass
Perfect for small children. It is no deeper than 3.5 ft for at least a 100 yards out. Many times only a foot or so.
Tons of hermit crabs for the kids to pick up and look at.
Free umbrellas if you get there early.
Several play grounds.
Very clean beach.
Pet friendly.
Fishing friendly.
Very open not crowded at all.
One warning there were quite a few jelly fish out the second day. People all were still swimming so wasn’t a huge deal.
Definitely recommend.

LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BEACH! There is a $10 fee for parking and an area for dogs. It’s clean, they have pavilions with grills available. They have clean restrooms and showers, playground for the kids, pavilions different sizes and a beautiful long dock. We saw many people fishing at the dock also. Great experience!!

Great place afor a day in the sun, family friendly environment and swimming area. clean and restrooms near by

it was not over-crowded and we were able to set up an area on the beach and remain more than 6ft away from others. This is a very nice beach.

My fav place in the hole world! So relaxing !perfect for young kids lots of play areas and the salt water pool is great!

A very nice, well maintained beach. Fishing piers on either end. They have palapas on the beach as well.

Quiet & peaceful. Love the grass umbrellas! For the most part, the beach is clean. Great place to bring your family for a cookout & swim. Plenty of picnic tables with grills.

Really enjoyed our visit. This is why we came to Rockport. The beach was not crowded when we visited. There was plenty of people having fun but they were spread out. Layed in the sand, kids played in the water. Saw a jellyfish or two. It was a great time. Parking was $5 dollars but no big deal. The playground is on the far end of the entrance we were in the middle and that seemed less crowded than either edge.

The dog beach is adjacent to the public "Human" beach. It is small and unkempt, we were afraid to put our dogs down. It is true we treat our dogs as "Royalty" but I wouldn't even want a dog treated as a "Peasant" to walk on this beach.

It’s hard to beat this beach if you are staying in Rockport. It’s convenient, clean, and family friendly. There’s a nominal charge to park, but if you park just beyond the gate and walk over there’s no charge. It’s worthwhile to park though. The parking lot parallels the beach and the further you get from the gate the more room you have for yourself

I was lucky to be there just before spring break. Almost deserted but what a great place to hang out. Lots of sand and water. Birds everywhere and the Laughing Gulls were so noisy. It was great. Only $10 for a day pass and cheap considering the experience.

Love my daily drives down this amazing blue wave beach. Salt water pool and ski basin make it a must for a day of fun.

Cleanest beach we've ever been to. Will definitely return. Great place for families. Gulls tried to be too friendly at times.

$5.00/day entry fee or a yearly sticker for $20.00. Nice boat launching area, ski basin, clean "white" (kind of) beach but very nice.Good parking and lots of room for special events. Nice fmily entertainment area, kids can swim and there is fishing.

Rockport Beach is a little Gem! Love this Beach! Only $10 parking fee. This beach is clean with little Umbrellas set up to get out of the sun. The serenity there is like no other! People are so friendly and not afraid to stop and say 'Hi!'. Locals are very friendly to visitors. Although I got a little sunburn, it was quite ok... I enjoyed the beach vibes happening there. Nobody over-sharing music, family-friendly, everybody happy, the sound of the wind and the waves was so relaxing and we loved the discovering the wildlife there.... birds, hermit crabs, crabs, little fishes, etc.

This is a great walking beach, probably about a mile long. The beach is clean with numerous palapas planted on the beach, and several covered picnic tables in the grassy area behind the small dunes. The water is usually clear, flat, and great for floating. (We say usually because it was extremely windy on several days during this visit, which made it choppy.) The water is very shallow, which allows for wading a long way out from shore. This was our third trip to Rockport. We've gone to the beach during the weekdays each time, and found the beach nearly empty in both May and September.
Rockport Beach is a city-owned Beach that is well worth the $10 per car/day entry fee. We purchased the $40 annual pass on our first visit in May 2021, and it paid for itself on that first visit. We made five visits in five days. We used it again for four more visits to the beach in September 2021. We bought another annual pass for 2022, and hope to return in September.

Great family beach. Kids can go out and will still not get too deep for them. On the other side is little Bay and ski basin. Fish, kayak, ski, sup, hang out with family, friends, or chill by yourself. They are now rebuilding showers, restroom, and buildings. The outdoor restrooms are the cleanest I have ever seen.

This is a nice little beach to go to in Texas, especially if you are looking for something quiet and family-friendly.

So beautiful. My wife and I saw Dolphins, beautiful beach and water clean. What a great time. Even had great time with the vendors available.

Five dollars gains access to this very clean beach with shaded huts. The common areas have seen better days, although restrooms and some showers are operable. Parking is easy and plentiful. Nice beach for walking, sunning or strolling the piers.

Took a walk along the beach while visiting the Rockport area. Beach was well maintained. We were able to park at no charge, walk the beach and stroll down the pier.

Great beach area for everyone
Shallow entry into the water and you can walk for over a 100 yards and still only be waist deep
There’s shade provided by a string of Palapas style umbrellas
No pets due to it being in a bird sanctuary and protected nesting area
There is a parking entrance fee

didnt realize we needed a day at the beach until we were there. great experience. will go back. set up our tent table chairs and snacks. have a shower there so was even better than going back to the room all sandy. had a kiddy beach. loved it

Laid back beach weekend. Added attraction seeing dolphins and numerous shorebirds. Unfortunately, think this was laughing gull mating time as they were EVERYWHERE.

This was a great beach to relax with your family. It is clean, $5 to get in for the entire day (annual pass is $20) and shallow for a long ways out which is great for smaller children. The sand was very good both on shore and in the water (no shoes needed). We parked our car about 50 yards from where we set up our chairs on the beach. This is one of the better Texas beaches we have been to. We will come back!

Clean, well kept beach. Separate area for people with pets. You can go far out and still be knee deep. We only saw 2 very small jelly fish.

Have been going to this beach for years since I was little. I love this beach so much...its kept clean and is so much more fun and family friendly than other beaches around.

We visited Rockport beach last week and enjoyed it very much. The beach was very clean and there is plenty of picnic tables, shades, and trash cans. The water is very shallow which is nice if you have small kids, my 4 year old liked this. I did some fishing of the pier which was nice although I expected the water to be deeper, it's probably only about 2-3 feet deep at the far end of the pier. Didn't catch any monsters but it was fun catching small fish. I recommend this beach, we can't wait to come again!

The sand was really clean, water very clear and you could go out quite a long ways before reaching deep water. Just sitting in the water, little fish would come up and swim around us. $5 for a day pass, places to grill; very nice, we'll go again for sure

Although the weather was rather gray during our recent visit to Rockport, we had to go to the beach. It is a ritual of sorts with each of the 5 or so visits we make each year. Our kids are older now, but this beach has been exactly what they needed and enjoyed ever since their toddler days. After its reconstruction, it has a little something for everyone. With the shallow water, kids can easily play and walk "forever" safely. The fishing pier is also a fun place for casting nets and lines. Even us older ones enjoy the walking path. Our group has outgrown the playgrounds, but still use the area at the shell for skateboards and BMX bikes--in evenings when no one is bothered. This time, with all of the rain, mosquitos weren't a problem but ants were!! We couldn't stay long because the sand was teeming with them! Oh well--we will be back and I'm guessing that in November those little critters will have left. This is a fun place for all types of groups. Swim, build sand castles, walk, picnic, play volleyball, etc. Enjoy!

Our family and friends visited the beach after our lunch at Charlotte Plummer's. It was wonderful walking on the beach and searching for shells.

It's great to have a nice beach in Texas. This beach is very nice. Clean water, nice people, sweet. However, if you are bringing dog(s) the good news is its free, the bad news it's just the small beach before you get on the big beach just before the entrance. I had looked up Rockport Beach before we went and it said dogs allowed on the beach. I missed the part that it's only a small section and not part of the long main drag. It was still nice to be able to take fido cause dogs really love the beach too! They do provide bags and I do pick up after my dog! Great day!

We visited the beach on a Monday in August and despite the rain we had a blast. We hung out by the salt water pool and we saw several hermit crabs and plenty of cabbage head jellyfish. A mother dolphin and her baby found their way into the pool for a short visit. We would love to go back another time and stay longer.

We went there for the evening. Such a nice time on the beach. I appreciated that they have showers to get the sand off!

My husband and I came down to Rockport with our dog to get away for a few days. It costs five dollars (pretty cheap!) to park at the main part of the beach. There is also a portion of the beach where you are allowed to bring your dog- it's free to park here and use this part of the beach. The day was sunny and breezy, perfect weather for a visit. Our dog absolutely loved playing in the surf!

Just a nice place to enjoy the water. Nice beach with happy vibe. Palapas down the beach provided shade. $5 fee to drive to parking area next to beach. No cars in the beach.

The whole town of rockport is infested with mosquitoes! Anywhere you go anytime of day doesn't matter. They even come out in the wind and in full force. Went to the park full of mosquitos, went to the beach full of mosquitoes, try to go outside of the Rv at Rv park and can't even do that. Just like others have said the little grass area by the beach is infested with mosquitoes. You will be walking along and then next thing you know it's like a horror movie for your legs blood everywhere and running for your lives!! Argh!!😷

Go relax with your feet in the sand while the sun generously shares warmth and light. It starts getting dark around 6pm so the weekdays don’t allow a chance for beach visits for us, but weekends are pleasant and not scorching like the summer sun.

Lovely beach for day visit. Close to restaurants and shops. Beach Showers and clean restrooms. reasonable entrance fees.

It was nice and not at all crowded. We showed up on a very windy day, gravel sand hurts!! Make sure you have cash if not the lady at the entrance will roll her eyes and sighs heavily! Even thought she told me they take cards...She seemed very annoyed.

Clean and relaxing. You don't have to park far. Always great family atmosphere. Pets are not allowed. Highly recommend. Rockport is a well kept secret.

The wife and I going their quit alote even bring our nieces their. My sister really loves going hear also

The beach and park areas were clean. There were lots of families enjoying the beach. We use one of the park grills and had hamburgers. This beach is also sanctuary and dogs are Not permitted in. The large pavilions are still closed due to the damage from hurricane Harvey.

This trip was disappointing as there was a lot of seaweed but it is easy to walk and would be nice for small children.

We come here quite a bit and love it. We bring our 4 year old daughter that likes to play on the beach and the playscapes.

I love the rockport beach, it's clean and we always have a nice time here. Parking is not an issue and the sand is nice as well. Beware of the stickers in the grass so make sure to bring flip flops.

Cost to much and bad for jelly fish. Stickers all in the grass area where the tables and grills are. Not a place I go to!

Had the opportunity to visit Rockport Beach on Thanksgiving Day. It was quiet with only a few fishermen on the Pier. This is a very nice beach and Recovered well from the Hurricane.

The Rockport beach is a nice and clean beach. Very close to our RV resort, the beach has many huts with tables one can utilize. Water was still super cold for us, but there were kiddos enjoying it!

There is still damage from Hurricane Harvey. More sand will probably be added later. The water was cool for this time of the year. It's nice that they added places to sit in the shade. Wish that they hadn't cut the grass and wild flowers. It helps as a windbreaker.

Nice beach - they have a dog friendly portion so everyone is happy. Rockport is such a nice place to visit and the beach is a wonderful place to just chill.

A decent little beach on the bay. Well maintained facilities and beach. The sand is course and where the beach meets the water is sloped so felt odd walking along the beach with my honey.

We have been coming to this beach for years. We love it! Not only does it have the gulf side, but a salt water pool on the bay side. The water isn't very deep so it's great for you children or people like me that likes to walk along the beach in the water. Since the last hurricane a year ago, the bathrooms/,showers are being rebuilt. The beach is maintaned. If you have a dog, they are aloud on a small portion of the beach, that you don't have to pay for. The rest of the beach you do need to pay. Can't remember the price, but cheap.

Visited this beach on Saturday, July 16th and will definitely return. We had our 2 year old grandson with us and he loved it! The water is very shallow and just enough waves that they won’t knock you down. The beach is very clean with several shelters that you can use. Because it is shallow, I was able to walk out really far which I would not do at other beaches as you can’t see in the water. Love this little beach and for only $10 a carload, it is a bargain.

We get a season pass every year, beaches maintained, great facilities and love the boat channel for evening watching dolphin and sunsets.

Great fishing and fun for the kiddos:) Clean beach and a lot of good places to visit. Shops, food, Aquarium etc.

Beach was a little rocky for my liking, but the nice thing was the sandbar extending out about 200 feet for the little ones to play. Several activities offered in the area, but did find quite a bit of bottle caps/cigarette butts in the sand along with a lot of pebbles.

Rockport beach was great!! $5 well spent for a clean, relaxing spot on shore. The guests were friendly, water was a bit murky but no jellyfish or any signs of sea critters. I loved the fact that you could walk out half a mile and the water was still waist deep. Very nice to sit in the water and be rocked by waves.

My husband and spent a week in a Rockport and we were joined by our son and his three kids on the week-ends.
We really enjoyed going to the beach with the kids. It was fun to watch our youngest grandson who is 11 years old play in the water and dig a really big hole in the sand.
We were there Memorial week-end, but wasn’t super crowded and the weather was
very pleasant for summer!
I loved the cabanas that are scattered along the beach (and there is no charge for them).
There are lots of covered picnic tables too
The beach is very clean and the shallow water is great for small kids!
Try to make it to the coast this summer to help our coast recover from the hurricane!

We're Proud of our Beach and the city has ivested a lot of money to make it beautiful, it's a fun playground with lots of immenities like table, grills and a pavilion!

This is a great beach for families. We went to the part of the beach called the pool. It was awesome. No big waves coming in. Just calm waters for the kids to play in. Not as many jellyfish as the open water side. Beautiful view of beach houses. We will go back!

The beach was clean and water was great. It stay shallow for a long way out so it's great for young kids to play in.

This beach is small but packs a lot to do if you visit. There is a fishing pier and fishing jetties that are awesome. I was very happy to see how clean and beautiful it is kept, there are many outdoor facilities (outhouse) to use and are cleaned throughout the day. It is well worth the $5 daily rate I paid. I saw families enjoying themselves at the beach, get there if you can. I highly recommend this beach. Will visit again soon!

The beach is nice, clean and pet friendly. Really liked that it is shallow far out, no waves, perfect for children. There are 2 sections. One side is pay, the other is free. Only thing missing is some shade. They have 3 very little coverings.

This is one of the cleanest beaches we've been to in Texas. The water not deep too, it's a great beach for families. If your in Rockport Texas you have to check out this beach.

Very clean and nice soft white (albeit not native) sand. Beautiful spot. $5 per car to get in but that keeps the riff raft out which makes this beach very safe as well for families with kids. Enjoy.

Entire section for families with dogs next to pier and aquarium side. Nice bathrooms in middle of beach area. Great for small children as not deep for long way out. Bring picnic and chairs. Enjoy.

We had our dog in the car and was told to leave. We explained we were not going to take the dog out only wanted to take photo at the Rockport Beach. We were more than happy to pay the $5.00 for our few minute stay. Beach is tricky to find.

Nice little beach area with covered picnic tables. Great for small children as it gradually gets deeper - lots of shallow water. There is a fee to enter the Beach.

We loved this beach and it was very close to where we were staying. It was an overcast day so it was not crowded.

We visited the beach during the week time and it was pretty empty. You pay $5 to get in and park inside. Or you can park further down and walk with your things and avoid the $5. I liked there was security going up and down the beach.
The beach and the huts were clean, it looks they are first come first served. There are volley ball courts, trash cans, facilities to shower and use the restroom. The water was clean when we visit, it was shallow but the current was strong.

We loved this beach. All areas were neat and clean. The beach cove near Key Allegro had soft sand and was a nice place to relax.

This beach takes good photos with the canopy huts but it is rocky so not your typical beach like Port A.

This is a good beach for little ones. The waves are small, and the water stays shallow for a long time.

If you can get a shade tree, do it. Depending on the sun, you'll have to shift your stuff. The distance from the shade tree to the water isn't far.
If you can't get a shade tree, then bring your own umbrella and chairs. There is no company to rent umbrellas and chairs from. Be careful, it can get windy.
I didn't see any jellyfish but there was a smell near the shore. The smell lessens as you walk away from the shore. You can walk very far and it'll be waist or chest deep depending on your height.
Parking is $10 with in and out privileges. Outside of the paid parking lot, near the Arkansas County Navigation District is a shower area and bathrooms.
Overall, this beach is great for families with young children. We went on a Monday and it wasn't busy. We stayed about 4-5 hours and brought a cooler with snacks.
Rockport isn't as lively as Galveston though. A 40 min drive south is Corpus Christi, where you can visit a Naval Air Station and the Selena Museum.

We were with several families and enjoyed this beach immensely! It was a great place for younger kids because of the playgrounds, calm water, high visibility, etc. It was also great for our teens because of the volleyball nets, the ocean, of course, and even the visibility.
There *are* a LOT of stickers in the grass, so when you're crossing from the parking lot to the sand, be aware of that.
For $5 parking, you get wheelchair access to most of the facilities (including bathrooms and the pier), plus ample parking, picnic tables, swanky beach umbrellas, picnic tables, multiple sand volleyball nets, multiple playgrounds, some grills, etc. Sure the sand isn't perfect, fine-grain sand. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as rocky as I expected, though, and had no problem walking barefoot (except on the grass!). I'll be back!
We were there 2 night in a row and while the sun doesn't set *on* the water, the colors are still quite visible and absolutely breathtaking! I imagine that the sunrise on the water would be lovely, too, but I wasn't there at that time.

I brought my 1 yr old daughter here and it was perfect because the water was shallow and the tides weren't too overwhelming for her. Highly recommended for younger kids.

Decent beach. The walk to the beach from the parking area wasn't bad. It'll be nice when they let people drive on the beach again. We had a blast.

We enjoyed our visit to this beach. It was clean with little cabanas and we got to see the dolphins. The price was reasonable and beach wasn't super busy

The palapas on the beach provided much-needed shade. Public Restrooms were fairly clean. The water was refreshing on a hot day.

Our 2 year old LOVED this beach! It's only $10 for a Day Pass ($40 for an annual pass). It's VERY shallow. For an average adult, it only came up to my waist at around 150 yards out! That is amazing! It also wasn't very crowded when we went in mid-June 2022 on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Beware of MOSQUITOS!!!! That's the sign they need! I couldn't enjoy the beach because of the mosquitos. They are bad and no where in the reviews they say anything about it, unless those reviews are deleted. I don't know if this is a yearly problem but I would probably won't go back to this beach. Port Aransas Beach was way better.

Easy parking, shade shelters that are occupied by 10-11 am so get there early. We walked the beach and then I started to melt. The entry fee for the day was $5 and for the year was $20. Worth it for a clean beach. I bought the year pass and will give it to our local host. I really like that this is a beach that is centrally located and right next to a dog beach area and local event site. The weekend we visited they were having a bbq cook off.

We love this beach and try to make it down a few times each summer. The beach is well maintained and the water is perfect for youngsters. There are no rough waves and it's pretty safe just look out for the occasional jelly fish. There are several play areas along the beach that my kids love. We always buy the yearly pass for $20 or you can pay $5 for the day.

A great family friendly beach with some sun parasols
You have to pay to park here or alternatively park outside as it’s free
The area is very safe and the sea was calm on our visit

Liked the waves better here than the Port A beach but have to go out in the water quite a ways to get into deep water. My wife didn't like the sand, said it hurt to walk on but it didn't bother me. I liked the sand in the water, not a lot of sea weed and the sand was soft. Good little palm umbrellas for shade if you can get one. Wind made it hard to set up our umbrellas.

We love visiting Rockport beach, always peaceful days for fun and relaxation, and I love being able to enjoy the water with out battling the waves from Port A's beaches. Not to mention so much cleaner.

We have visited the beach several times since arriving in Rockport. My favorite by far was when tide was out and it exposes several different sandbars you can walk on. The sand is hard packed and makes an excellent walk.

It just doesn't compare to South Padre but more kid friendly than Port Aransas. The paid entree allows for a cleaner beach and more amenities.

Great places to tent camp and lots of shoreline to explore. Clean with many families cooking outdoors on the one sunny day there

This is one of the cleanest beaches we have been to. It's especially great for those with little children because the water is very shallow. There are Tiki shade huts, concrete picnic tables, grills, volleyball net, children's playground area, pavillion with VERY clean nice bathrooms. When you walk in the ocean water, there is NOTHING except sand and water! First beach to ever go that had no rocks or shells, etc under your feet once in the water. . . .which also means the downside is there will be no shell collecting there.

Calm and clean beach to visit w family.
We didn’t pay the $10 since u are able to park and enjoy the beach without having “ enter the parking area” but you definitely have to arrive early to get a parking spot .
Water is not” Caribbean “ type but it’s definitely not Galveston water either . It’s a good decent beach to sit back to get a tan.

I visited 7/3 with my family. The park is very nice. Not the greatest beach, lots of seaweed washed up on it, but better than many you find in Texas. Would go again, just don't compare it to Florida beaches.

This beach was so nice and very clean. Pay five bucks a car and you can come and go as you please in one day. Loved the lil cabanas on the beach for shade.

My husband and I always enjoy a walk along Aransas Bay at Rockport Beach Park. We always park just outside the entrance and walk the beach into the park. If you drive into the park, the cost is $5 a day ($20 for one year). There is plenty of parking inside and outside the park during off season. I am not sure about the summer months and spring break. The water is very shallow, about 2.5 feet deep for hundreds of feet from the beach. The waves are small. The park offers sand volleyball courts, some picnic tables, a few grass covered huts for shade, restrooms, a few BBQ pits and a fishing pier. There were no chairs and no benches. The park is located between the gulf (Aransas Bay) and a small saltwater inlet on the bayside. Bird watching was good there a few years ago but no more except for sandpipers and seagulls. This is the best beach in Rockport. The beach is open 7 days a week, Sunday through Monday 6am-11pm and Friday through Saturday 6am-12pm.

It helps that I visited during the fall when it is very quiet. The weather was glorious, the beach was clean, and the water was clear.

We decided to venture out to Rockport Beach after seeing it on a list of best Texas beaches and I must say it deserves that spot. We went the weekend before Memorial Day weekend which wasn't crowded at all. The water was very calm and the beach has a very long sand bar. Beach sand was very clean and we did find a large amount of good sea shells. $5 parking for the day, places to eat like 10 mins away, bring your own food and enjoy.

MUCH BETTER THAN WHEN WE WERE KIDS!!!! Actual SANDY BEACH and you don't have to wade out 1/4 mile to get waist deep! Nice playground. Saltwater pool great safe place to swim w/o waves. Lotsa native birds. Ski basin still perfect place to ski.

if you love your pets do not go there because ,the person who is charging at the gate will yell at you if you ask if it is ok to bring your pets, he was very rude I was thank full that we do not enter to their beach full of jelly fish

Love the beach here and it's typically clean and a good time. Water is usually pretty clear and you don't have to worry about rip currents plus the kids can wade way out and still be in shallow water. Get there early on weekends and the summer to get one of the palapas for some free shade. A little vinegar in a spray bottle is always nice in case of a jelly fish sting as well.

If you are in this area, this is a very nice place for a walk, particularly at night. It was shut down recently due to hurricane damage. I hope it re-opens soon.

One of the best ( if not the best) Texas beaches I've been to. The park was closed to vehicle traffic due to Covid. We parked in the parking lot and carried our gear down to the beach. Not very crowded on Monday & Tuesday that we were there but could see where it may get crowded on the weekends. We loved the nice, sandy beach. The water was very calm and you could walk out in the water for a long way and never get over waist deep. Great place for kids.

This is a great beach if you have little ones and are concerned for their safety. Don't expect rough rip tides or surf. If you're more adventurous and want a place for medium to advanced water sports you'll have to go somewhere else, although conditions can change on a day to day basis.
The park usually have weekend events like markets.

This is a wonderful place to bring young children. Play areas with picnic tables. Surf is very mild and water depth is shallow for a long way out.

This is one the better beaches around the area. Always clean and a good time to be had! There is a charge to get in, unless u have a yearly pass!

As they like to call it, it's a "Quiet little drinking town with a fishing problem".
It's ok. Very pretty place! Seems to be recovering very well from the hurricane, but you can still see some abandoned homes. My wife likes it because she spent time here as a youth. Looks like a good place to fish. They don't allow dogs on their "beach", but it's not a far drive to better places if you're wanting to swim.

Clean by beach standards. Park in the parking lot at the entrance and walk in for free. Nice tables in the shade for picnicking. Lot's of shallow water to swim and play in.

Came on a family vacation and loved it. The beach has covered areas already so there isn’t any real need for a tent. Also the beach is clean and beautiful, the sand is soft and mixed with little pebbles. Plus, if you are looking for someplace to fish it has a great pier.

We normally go to Mexico , but with Covid had to amend our travel plans. We were here for a week so just bought the annual pass for $20. Very clean beach. A little rocky, but perfect for kids as you can walk out in the water about 1/4 mile and still be waist deep in the water. Get there early for a palapa or bring your own shade. The snow cone guy is there every day in the afternoon for a cool treat.

This Beach is great for the family. The waves are not as high as in Port A. We have had a place here for years. I think it is the best. Each for young kids. Not alot of partying wild teenagers just families having a bbq and having fun.

The beach is definitely a Texas beach (not beautiful and kind of brown). But it’s fantastic for kids. Shallow coastline for a long ways. Low waves. Perfect for my young children. They loved playing in the sand and running in the water. Parking is not available on the beach which is also great for kids. No risk of them running in the road. Great playgrounds available including a large pirate ship which my preschool boy loved. Nice way to break up the visit if needed. If you get there early, you can snag a seat under a free shade cabana. On July 4th weekend at 9:30am, we had no problem getting one. Worth the visit. Daily rate is $5. Yearly pass is $20.

Worth a 15 minute walk out along the small breakwater. There are picnic tables for a snack break. Pretty good for the Gulf of Mexico.

They are not dog friendly but they do have a spot for you to take your pets and visit with other pet owners there's always a snack place on the beach vendors! Awesome place to visit

Nice family beach. Shallow water, cabanas and picnic tables. Sand was somewhat gravelly and water was extremely warm due to shallow water. No waves.

Wonderful beach. Very clean and beautiful, but they charge to get in and they don’t allow dogs. Our dogs love the sand and the ocean so it was disappointing to not be able to bring them with us. We ended up driving to Corpus. Lots of dog friendly beaches there :)

This is a great beach for families. Lots of amenities and bait shops nearby if you want to fish. It was fun to relax under all the canopies. We also managed to catch some fish using shrimp on the pier. Overall great experience.

Water was beautiful! Such a great beach - especially for families! The bathrooms could use some work/updating....but overall ok.

Grew up on this beach, good to see it has recovered from the Hurricane Harvey. A few changes but a lot of improvements!

This annual event was in progress, we avoided it. We drove the length of it twice, excellent views of the Gulf of Mexico also plenty of damaged jetties

The loveliest beach I have visited in TX and I have been to many. The sand was clean. There was plenty on parking. Also lots of grassy are to sit, play, have a picnic, etc. It is closer to San Antonio then any other of the beaches I've been to.

We come to Rockport to spend the winter months and purchase an annual pass for $20. Well worth the money, even for a few months.
Nice beach, super clean with good restroom facilities. Downside beach is in a bay and there are not many waves. Young kids like waves, older folks just enjoy the nice water.

Really nice beach with shallow water for little ones to enjoy. We took our labs and didn't have any issues.

Went in June 2016 had was excited to get into a cool water beach but walked in a pee bath. The beaches were filthy. Nice area, a little run down. Don't go to that beach. I wanted to visit corpes cristi but decided to go to the beach. My guess is that Texas has the dirtiest beaches in the USA.

One night on NatGeo, the program was about all the hummingbirds in Rockport, Texas in September as they gather for the migration to Mexico and Central America. My husband and I just had to attend. What a sight to see all the feeders out in the yards of home that have opened the yards to the public for OUR viewing. The even have chairs, cold water and one place had cookies for us who sat and watched the hummingbirds feed and swarm . We took away a lot of info and now we are ready to attract more hummers at our house.

We visited San Antonio last week and needed some beach time so we made the trip to Rockport Beach. It was an okay trip. The water was very calm with no waves. The beach was clean enough. The bathroom facility was inundated with pigeons and pigeon poop was all over the floors...not the cleanest experience.

Hi, I love this beach, especially for small children. You do not have to worry about riptides. The bank does not slope off dramatically. Of course, children should be watched by an adult near water at all times.
There are lots of wonderful birds on this beach. You can fish, picnic. There are playgrounds.

Clean sand, nice water, able to wade waaaay out into the water and just relax, the dozens of little hermit crabs along the waterline, the free static tiki hut style sun umbrellas...what is there to not love about this beach?? It was well worth the $5 entrance fee!

The beach is working very hard to rebuild after Hurricane Harvey. Hoards of people were enjoying the beach on Memorial Day weekend.

Rockport Beach is an excellent beach for ALL beach goers, especially children. There are options for parking. You can pay $5 for one day or $20 per year. Or you can park in the lot before the pay booth for free. The beach begins at the front of the parking lot and allows dogs, and then you can walk to the continuing beach where paid parking is available. THis beach is shallow for approximately a mile! The deepest may be approximately 2-2.5 feet! We purchased floaties at Walmant before our arrival and floated the day away. The day we went there were not waves and beautiful clear water. The beach was super clean and offers umbrellas, first come first serve. I highly recommend this beach and will come back often.

Great beach in the heart of Rockport. The shallow water is a great place to get the little ones acclimated to the ocean without the fear of deep water. Family picnic tables under shade offer a great family outing barbeque area but get there early weekends and holidays.

Beautiful beach. Has numerous tiki style umbrellas along beach so only need to bring chairs. Nice walking to view waterbirds as well.

On our recent visit we wanted my 4 yr old son a chance to walk in the "ocean". On a tip from a local, we were able to find the kid friendly beach with the net to help minimize the fish. This section didn't have large waves so he was able to walk in the water without being scared. We collected a few shells and were walking in the shallows for about 10 minutes - and then spotted a jelly fish very close to us. This ended our visit. Overall it was a nice visit and worth the $5 entry fee.

The navigation district has renovated the in town beach. Great place for pets( pet friendly area) , children and fishing. The pier is free for strolling and fishing,

Clean beach, cute little playground area with picnic tables, outdoor sprinkler shower for easy access to rinse off, pavilion with bathrooms and showers, food truck and drink truck show up during the day...

Rockport beach is located right off route 35. Admission is actually free if you walk in but ample parking is available for $5 for the day at the entry gate. There is plenty of sandy beach, a boat ramp, bird sanctuary on the opposite side, picnic tables, rest rooms and port-a-potties, fishing pier, small playground, BBQ grills.

I was blown away by this little beach having stumbled upon it with no knowledge of the area. I am positively excited to bring my little one back here. The best part is the ocean-front has no drop off for at least a hundred feet so you can be best assured the little ones will get to play/swim in the ocean without any unscrupulous irrational fear.

Clean beach. Great for families. Nice bathroom, showers, and changing area. Ample parking and easy access to the beach.

A family friendly beach. Several palapas, ample parking. Shallow water is good for kids. Near boat basin and other attractions.

Visit during memorial day with family for and friends. If you do not get there early the line to get in is very long and you will also have trouble finding a parking spot. It was difficult finding a place for us to set up as well. We arrived around 1030 am
Beach was not too dirty but lots of jellyfish in area we were at. One child in our group was stung by one.

Small beach with shallow water. Lots of palapas and picnic tables for shade. Cleanest beach you will find in a Texas. City takes pride in their jewel!

My husband and I enjoyed a 30 minute walk on the beach mid-week in mid-December. There was only one other family enjoying the beach. There were no seashells. We saw some seagulls and a few jellyfish. The water is extremely shallow (2-3 feet) for a long way out. Little huts were available (no extra fee) for shade. There were no chairs or food vendors. There is a $5 daily fee or $20 annual fee per vehicle. There is no charge to walk or bicycle in. No one was collecting money after 5 pm. There were a few holiday decorations in the park in December.

Very clean beach and not as crowded as beaches in Port A.
You are able to fish off the pier which is right next to sand and the water was clear. Definitely will be back just to relax

Came on a trip with friends because it was close to home. The park is kept clean, and that's why you pay $5.00 a car to enter; it is well worth it! We were there by 10am each day, and had no problem finding space for us all, from 9 to 14 people, a canopy for shade, chairs, and more. There are JELLYFISH, and they do come right up to the shoreline, so if you are alllergic or have little children, watch for these creatures, as they sting. My friends got stung, and had no problem with it, just brought our Neosporin with pain reliever with us, and meat tenderizer, as well, to take the sting out. The breeze on the beach was relaxing, we enjoyed the hermit crabs to be found, and walking out on the longer pier to the far left, to see the large pods of dolphins swimming there, usually earlier in the day. everyone was friendly, no one's music too loud, and there is a snow cone truck there, earlier in the day, that seems to sell out by 2pm. We brought coolers, and the walk from the car is easy.

Rockport Beach is a great area for families. The beach has a small playground area for when the kids want to take a break from the waves! They also offer covered areas with seating and pits to bbq while out at the beach

Got here early and was able to get a palapa. Not crowded at all and easy access from the car. Only downside were the jellyfish- you really have to look out for them. Water is murky near coast but better once you walk out- you can walk for miles on the sugar soft sand. All in all quite enjoyable .

I love Rockport! I have been living here for3 years and sadly, I am leaving. (1/2 acre is for sale). We would walk the beach almost every morning w my 2 babies until the went to kinder. Then, I would run it after dropping them off. If interest on prop 70,000 off of state highway rv welcome

loved my visit here- the beach is always very clean - I have visited other beaches around and none as clean as this one at Rock port beach - never did I see any trash of any kind the little huts also are nice really do recommend this place for a family getaway.

Great beach for almost anything you want to do also check out the shaved ice man it is really good..

Very clean family friendly beach. Water is shallow and easy accessible. Beach was not crowded had own personal space. Bathroom and showers were ok could use some maintenance. We enjoyed our day will definitely come back.

Took the grandkids for the day and we had the best time!! The beach is nice and clean and there aren't any rocks in the water for the little ones to hurt themselves on. Nice shaded umbrellas and a shower to wash the sand off. The only issue was that the water was like bath water (mother nature), however, we really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely go back.

Beach is clean but the sand is more like playground sand, maybe trucked in? Water is full of sea grass. Not sure why it's called s blue wave beach. Showers out of order. $5 a day to enter.

Quiet this time of the year. It's nice to walk around without the crowds. Clean beach! Sand is soft and comfy. Great for meditative visit. Enjoyable surroundings with lots to see close by such as Texas art.

We visited Rockport beach on our last day of our vacation because it was close to where we were staying.
It’s a $5 daily fee to enter and NO dogs allowed to enter the park at all, not even in your car.
Pretty nice beaches but there was a lot of dead sea grass build up along the shore. The water is nice and is shallow pretty far out with depth being about 3 feet quite a ways out.
There are nice grass umbrellas along the beach and several picnic tables. There is also a large covered facility with picnic tables and bathrooms and showers.
The women’s bathroom was not very clean and the open community shower drains were blocked so badly with hair, sand and debris that the whole floor was flooded with several inches of gross standing water.
It was not very crowded and plenty of parking.

Incredible to return the Rockport Beach to the high quality is today after hurricane Harvey. But it true, this beach today have is the best walk along the water yet. The shade shelters have been restored and the Sandy beach shore line is groomed. Well done Rockport.

It doesn't get much better than this. Very clean and well
Maintained. No pets or glass bottles. Long Beach, new boat launches, and salt water pool as well. Great!!!!

My family and I went last Summer before the hurricane. We had a wonderful time there and loved the area. I hope they are able to recover from the storm.

The cost is $5 a day or $20 for the year to get in. There are bird watching areas, clean beaches. We went on a Monday in June and it was not crowded at all. If you are eating do not hold any food up or anywhere in the air very long, the sea gulls will swoop down for a quick bite. They look like they haven't missed many meals.

Not a very large beach area but worth the $5 fee for the whole day. Wasn't too crowded when we were there and, thankfully, pretty quiet. We just took our chairs and umbrella and sat with our feet in the water and enjoyed the sounds and sights of that area. Definitely will return.

The water is ok, but once you're out in the water, the sand beneath your feet can smell either like motor oil OR methane. Bobbed about in the water with grandkids, and we took turns digging sand up from under us, and smelling it. Not pleasant. Kids still had a great time, though. Found hermit crabs and such.

My brother told me about this beach and invited me to go with him one day and I have to say it is by far my favorite. My daughter is now 6 but we have been coming here since she was 3. The water is shallow for far and the eye can see. Water is clear, no wave, warm sand. They have picnic areas, bbq pits, and huts to relax under. They also had showers and restrooms but since Harvey, they are rebuilding that area and now have portable restrooms and showers. It's $5.00 per vehicle all day. You just have to park and walk where you want. Very nice!

Nice sandy beach with shallow water, picnic areas, grills, volleyball, etc. A great place to gather with a group or large family and have fun in the sun. The restrooms are closed from hurricane damage, but there are porta-lets.

Absolutely outstanding Gulf beach with an ocean side and a lagoon on the opposite side. Ocean side is a shallow sandy beach with waves and a long pier for fishing. Lagoon side is shallow and without waves which was perfect for our 2 year old twins to safely play in the water. All areas had thatched overhead shade on the beach with playscape and picnic areas. We will definately make this a family Gulf destination.

Great place, really quiet beach with not many people there! Water was nice, although a little warm for my liking

This was our first trip to Rockport for a family get away, we had a good time! The rockport beach is a family friendly place,I appreciated that it's not just people drinking all over the place. clean sand and good fun! I liked that there were more affordable food places and actual grocery stores and a Walmart to use. We usually stay at Port Aransas and is so expensive, due to no affordable restaurants or stores. We are at "the shack" BBQ, it was so good and we had food left over for the remainder of our trip! Arandas Mexican grill was directly next to the hotel so we just walked there for coffee and tacos! We spent all our time at the beach, they have salt water swimming pool, playground and restrooms for public use it's worth the $5 to get in. Also went to this nice walking trail we came upon, We will be returning!

Nice for a walk on this nice beach. Good place for a family get together place kids can run and play

This is a great beach, especially if you have small children. Very clean, picnic tables and bathrooms. Fun and enjoyable place.

We went there in search of a very rare bird. Found it. Also had a mooch around and it really is a rather nice facility.

Perfect beach day today! Just loved the clean pretty beach with gentle tiny waves where you can wade forever! Wonderful breezes!

Didn't have to worry about trash and crazy partygoers. The beach was great and the family loved it. Hopefully will get the restrooms fixed soon, but not a big deal.

This beach is honestly one of the cleanest beaches that I have ever been to. Originally I am from California and newly Texan, so I didn’t know what to expect. (I kept them low as to not be disappointed.) I was very surprised to see such a long beautiful beach, family friendly, clean, with a great view. I have never walked out so far on a shoreline, which made it great for the kids. There were little, lapping waves that made for peaceful days on the beach. It was $5 for the day/ car with in and out priveleges, which is great for lunch, lots of options nearby. If you want one of the shaded cabanas, make sure to come early on the weekends, before 8/9. During the week 10 am arrival is fine. Overall, really great, but the gazebos are still closed from the hurricane, only porta potties available. There are things that just aren’t there anymore, sculptures, buildings, the big crab at the entrance, but that doesn’t hinder a lovely family time at the beach. Great little town, awesome, pretty beach.

Rockport Beach on Aransas Bay is much cleaner and not near as salty as the beaches on the Gulf Of Mexico. No Sea Weed or Tar on the beach. It's also close to other attractions like the Fulton Mansion & the Big Tree (2000 year old Live Oak).

It's so nice, a band of beach with tiki hutches and beautifully maintained beach, amenities, but I never really get to enjoy it because of my dog. The reason I go is for him to frolick in the water. They are gracious enough to have a spot that is dog friendly and free which I greatly appreciate, but I cannot enjoy the best of it :-(. I'm guessing they tried and this is the happy medium. Still lovely and my puppy is so happy every visit.
Rockport Beach
Many Texas Blue Star Beach awards in the past years great beach on the bay its own little lagoon type area buy the city beach tag
