Cute tour

By Mónica |

I did the walk when it was already dark and I really enjoyed it. It's nice. You can see all the restaurants and hotels along the river.

Green river for St. Patty's.

By jennifer J |

Stayed there in March and they dye in rivet green for st Patty's day. The Riverwalk is absolutely amazing it's so romantic. You can do just about anything you want. There are shops, restaurants, hotels, bars, take river cruises. I absolutely loved my time here. It's definitely a place to visit.

Not impressed

By 2012natty |

First thing to know, parking is a nightmare. It’s expensive and hard to find, even midweek in winter. Then, the actual riverwalk is underwhelming. It’s really just restaurant row. Even the Christmas decorations were disappointing. Admittedly, I did not see all of it, but I was not impressed with what I did see

So pretty and magical.

By TraceyDL |

So pretty with a ton of cute bars and restaurants to choose from.
Charming and magical setting. Lovely place to eat dinner overlooking the river.

A weekend mother daughter trip

By Amber P |

Food is always great down here, and the locals are friendly. BEWARE Just don't get scammed by the monks! You think im joking, they put a bracelet on you like it's a gift then demand payment. And they get REALLY pushy I've seen it happen more than once.

This is a must do !

By decepticong1 |

This place is outstanding and so beautiful! Visited while in San Antonio and was extremely pleased with the river walk the atmosphere the whole vibe was cool , I highly recommend it to anyone

Charming Experience on the River Walk

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

Man-made river that circles downtown San Antonio is quite charming and can be very magical and romantic especially after dark. Lined with restaurants, bars, shops and hotels, it can be very lively and festive or quite serene depending on the time of day or night and depending on what section of the River Walk you explore. You can stroll along the banks and cross the river over several quaint bridges, or you can take a guided barge tour that circles the entire length of the river.

San Antonio Riverwalk

By My2015Trip |

San Antonio Riverwalk is beautiful. There are numerous restaurants to choose from with great food. There was lots of shopping, and we loved visiting the Alamo. We stayed at The Drury on the Riverwalk which was very nice.

San Antonio River Walk: Check

By Dave from TPA |

The River walk in San Antonio is a must see. It’s a tropical feel along with a very historic vibe. I didn’t take the river cruise but it looks amazing.

A chaotic, but beautiful riverside walk

By Joshua M |

In the heart of San Antonio, with convenient parking nearby, there's a reason the Riverwalk is a tourist hub for people coming to the area. The cobblestone, mix of architecture and great eateries along the waterway makes for a great afternoon in town. Depending on the time of year, it can be very busy, with thousands of people moving up and down the avenue. It's definitely not a stroller friendly experience, so bring your baby carriers and enjoy a nice cold beer walking along the river.

Great walks as long as you stay out of the congestion in downtown

By Laura L |

Fabulous walks with art, mosaics and historic markers going for miles. Downtown loop wasn't as nice as crowded and lined with chain restaurants. Further north, lovely cafes and restaurants that are unique and more spacious. Character

Touristy but still the highlight

By Roger W |

The River Walk is certainly the highlight when visiting San Antonio. There are many restaurants and bars around the river. There is a circular path where you can walk nicely. A bit from the center it also has fewer people and you can enjoy the whole counter even more. Certainly very touristy but really nicely done.

San Antonio Texas

By D D |

Very unique lots of walking and steps. Enjoyed the stay and felt safe. Parking is very expensive but if you search ahead of time you may find options.

Downtown Riverwalk is hot, busy and full of nasty fast food restaurants

By Cat |

Like a grubby Disney - if you can get away from the Rainforest cafe style eateries and huge hotels it is actually quite nice and got some interesting things to see but downtown is yeck!

Agreat day experience

By gooilersLeduc |

We went on the River walk while we were down in San Antonio on our 24 day bus trip to the deep south with Nagel bus tours. When in SanAntonio this is a must do as it wanders thru the streets and shows the old buildings in the area.It is a must do while in San Antonio.

Very nice

By Rogervant |

You can take a nice walk here along the river with beautiful restaurants with different colors on the facade, and you can eat delicious food there, but the prices are not cheap!! A beer costs 7.50 DÓLAR! a STELLA for example.

Lots to see, eat and drink

By mhorn000 |

Lots to see and lots to do. I was surprised there were no bugs or strange smells and all the patios are welcoming many places to eat and enjoy cocktails. Live music and a very vibrant entertainment scene

Fun

By Mike K |

A great place to spend several days. Plenty of shopping, boat rides, food and alcohol. Had a great time both day and night. Definitely hang around and enjoy it once it gets dark.

Beautiful river experience in San Antonio

By Aaron C |

The river walk was absolutely gorgeous and definitely had something for everyone. Always beautiful to see nature within a big city.

Great place to walk and people watch

By DDay1959 |

Everyone who visits San Antonio must take a stroll down the Riverwalk. Built as a project to control flooding in downtown San Antonio, the Riverwalk has become a staple of tourist who visit. As you walk along the Riverwalk, you can window shop or stop at one of the many restaurants.

A must-see in San Antonio

By vivichabot |

Beautiful walk on the river. Beautiful decor with its multiple bridges that straddle the river. For a dinner or dinner in a beautiful setting, this is the perfect place. A multitude of bars and restaurants. Magical evening because everything is illuminated. It is possible to take a small boat and crisscross the river.

Beautiful Scenery, Not Great for Young Kids

By Missy L |

The River Walk is a great spot for sight-seeing and enjoying a scenic walk along the river. The walk is clean and well-kept, but it can get very crowded! Most of the attractions on the walk are restaurants, but there is also a boat cruise available provided by Go Rio Cruises. If you don't mind a little bit of a walk, The Shops at Rivercenter (mall), the Tower of Americas, and the Alamo are all within walking distance. If you're going during a busy time, I would err away from bringing young kids and strollers. The sidewalk can get pretty crowded and most of the River Walk is not fenced off.

Enjoyable visit

By Mjmue |

Our first visit to San Antonio. We enjoyed walking the river walk daily both during the day and at night with the colorful Christmas lights. The night life is much more busier than the day. Many restaurants to choose from. Also enjoyed the boat ride at night to see the lights and learn some history about the river and the city.

Beautiful, but restaurants need some Gluten Free options..

By AJG502014 |

River walk is beautiful and 2nd time I've been here - this time with my wife. Boat trip was great and good value and area is really well kept. But eating options were a big let down for gluten free travelers in our party. We tried about a dozen water side restaurants and very little on offer and had to walk a considerable distance away from the river walk to Alamo st to find a nice Italian restaurant that offered decent gf food, but even then, suggested cross contamination was a high risk even though we had no bad reaction afterwards.

River Walk.

By Lin Lutes |

River Walk was great. Can walk to many restaurants. Interesting how they build it. Hotel we stayed off of the river walk great location.

Nicest people, great food

By Jayla |

We had a good time! We had great service and everyone was very friendly. The weather was perfect. However, there is a lot of construction going on. This city is growing fast and I can see why, but getting around wasn’t always easy. We stayed at the Omni La Maison, which was centrally located. We enjoyed the spa at Mokara across the river. That was expensive but an amazing treat that I don’t regret. The food was fabulous. We ate at Yardhouse (Ramon) Ostro (Mike), Rita’s on the River (Josh, Kailee and Joie), and, Mi Tierra. I put our servers in this review because they were fabulous and deserve to be acknowledged. We ate breakfast everyday at the Omni. While expensive, they do have gluten free toast and English muffins and a dedicated toaster. So I was very surprised and happy because this never happens anywhere we travel. Our servers there were Magda, Philly and Rachel. Please say hello to all these wonderful people. They really were so friendly and made our visit even better. It is very touristy type shopping. T-shirts, hats, fudge and of course a Ripleys right across from the Alamo. I thought the shopping would be better. The Pearl does not have that many shops despite what the hop on hop off bus tour people tell you. And this is one activity I would skip unless you have trouble walking. There are 16 stops on the hip on hop off tour. But after you’ve looked at the Alamo and The Market and explored the River walk there’s not a whole lot to do. They have caverns which are amazing, the Japanese tea garden, which is free, botanical gardens, a zoo and zip lining. None of these things are on the hop on hop off tour. Save the money and walk or Uber. It’s a great town to spend three or four days in. Great food, nicest people.

Great River Walk boat cruise

By Tricia T |

We did the River Walk boat cruise after dark. We hadn't planned it at night but SO glad it worked out that way.!!! So beautiful at night. I highly recommend it.

Long walk but great views

By Kathleen S |

Fun time! Beautiful scenery. It’s a nice walk so wear comfy shoes! It’s pretty great that you can walk around with a frozen as well since it’s hot!

Not for Me

By jackiegH6988RV |

We stayed at a downtown hotel for one night on the riverwalk, and we will not stay again. Parking is terrible, streets were filthy. Only plus was helpfulness and security at our hotel.

Pretty but mobbed

By Wellheeled |

Quite honestly it was a mob scene, pretty but not sure if I’d go again. But they do have a lot of boats & we didn’t wait too long. Already had tickets purchased online.
Parking garage not great for people with mobility issues because you still have to walk a fair bit

Riverwalk San Antonio, TX

By Pablo Sandoval Barragán |

Wow, it is an experience to travel along the river visiting each restaurant and bar where it is simply enlivened by the joy of the walkers.

So worth it

By Shelly W |

We stayed on the Riverwalk at the omni. I would strongly suggest staying close..its so beautiful, full of life and such a great place to visit. lots of restaurants and other options.

Beautiful Place Nice Scenery

By Angel Rosa |

I am in love with Riverwalk. I love walking all over the sidewalk. One side you have multiple restaurants and gift shops. The other side is a nice quiet place with small waterfall cascades to have a serene and peaceful walk. At night love the lighting. Highly recommended. Overall: Two thumbs up!

Tourest trap

By JG3-777 |

I grew upo in a tourist resort so I am not big on the tourist areas. This was typical tourist, for me it is a skip next time.

A River Runs Through It

By RobertoCofresi |

This is truly amazing, shows what you can do with an urban waterway, lined with shops, restaurants, you can just wander or pick a place to sit and watch others.

More packed than ever.

By Alex F |

Late In the nineteenths I Used, To jog along the river. Now, almost Impossible, some portions are Really crowded. This Is an School Day. still, doesn’t Stop To be Beautiful place lots of Restaurants and bars along The Way.

Amazing place that has potential

By Faye |

To me, the San Antonio TX Riverwalk is directly out of a fairy-tale. It's quaint and pretty but don't take your bikes, hoverboards or inline skates - there's not a lot of space for any of that. We took the boat tour of the river (there's a lot of history) and ate at MadDog BritishPub. Three stars as the entire upkeep can be better especially the water, which is murky with buts of trash.

Unmissable activity!

By Sergio_G_G49 |

It’s a good option to go with the family, walk along the river and downtown for a while and finally, stay for dinner at one of the many restaurants out there.

Quaint Canal Walk - Should be the Restaurant River Walk

By Julie S |

Beautiful scenery and nice walk down a quaint canal. Mostly restaurants along the walk, almost no retail stores. All of the retail stores are centered at Riverwalk Center which is a shopping mall at one end of River Walk. We entered the River Walk after visiting the Alamo which is basically across the street. This is a nice stroll with beautiful scenery. Restrooms are few and far between. There are a lot of stairs if you want to cross over the canal.

Beautiful

By Tristan T |

I really love the River Walk they have really good restraunts and it is beautiful to visit a nigh with all the lights you should take the boat tour around the river walk it talks about it's history worth the money.

Very Touristy, Busy

By 3familygal |

We went on a late Sunday afternoon and stayed over till Monday. It was very busy and crowded. Can’t imagine what the summer brings out. It’s easy to get lost on the River Walk. After awhile everything looks the same.

You should definitely go here !

By Eshaa R |

The tour we did on the river boats was great and our guide was amazing ! The place is rich in history and kept us busy all night . There’s also loads of places to grab food and a cocktail or two . Must visit for San Antonio !

50% beautiful stroll on the river, 50% obnoxious tourist trap

By kunfushuss |

Generally I go by the rule that if there's a Hard Rock Cafe, Joe's Crab Shack, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., or a wax museum, I am probably not going to enjoy it. This place has all of those tourist trap favorites, and is still OK.

I walked the riverwalk from Pearl Brewery downtown, which was mostly just a nice stroll by a river. But I suspect most people think of the section that forms the island downtown as the 'riverwalk' - I walked that all too, and it's all pictureque; the north side more commercial but not overwhelmingly so.

I recommend at least going for a stroll through that downtown loop

Have to see in San Antonio

By handif |

Maybe not what we expected, more built up and developed with a very touristy feel. Our hotel was on the river walk, and was nice to sit outside for breakfast or a drink. There seems to be something for everyone along the way, from the obvious Irish Bars, to Mexican, cheap eats and fast food to much nicer fayre. Seemed to get very busy at points in the evening, but still with a notably safe feel. As well as our hotel, we found a really nice restaurant to eat that we will review.

Like being in the mall only walking around some water

By Margie S |

Lots of similar restaurants. It is shaded, so that is good in the summer heat. But there are few stores, nothing to break up the restaurants, many of which are chains.

Amazing San Antonio River Walk!

By Janette J |

I was there with my sisters, all grown-ups, and no teenies in my family. During the day, it is good for families with children, river guided boat trips, and restaurants. But after sunset, I would not take children with. It is really fun for young people up 16 and adults. Beautiful done, the lights, live music, excellent places to enjoy food and drinks, the architecture, the mature trees. A wonderful experience!

Relaxing/romantic

By Michael E |

I'm not exactly sure what it is, but the whole atmosphere here is very relaxing and romantic. Perfect for a walk and dinner date. The boats passing by are fun to watch and just enjoy the air.

Love the Riverwalk at Christmas!

By Happy campers! |

Beautiful lights, river, music and festive vibes with a stroll on the Riverwalk. Crowded during the holidays, but worth it. Restaurants and pubs on the river are pricey, but nearby areas and Market Square offer delicious Mexican meals, chicken and BBQ. Huge Riverwalk Mall is there also and has a good food court.

Lovely Riverwalk

By bezerk |

Great concept made along a man-made river in San Antonio. Lots of restaurants, nature attractions and shops. Fun half day adventure. Have lunch or dinner while there. We had ice cream cones.

Awesome scenery

By michele S |

This river walk is beautiful! It’s so lively and bright with tour boats cruising along and plenty of shade. Many Shops and restaurants to choose from. Every time you go you find something you have not seen before. The restaurants are on the pricey side along with the drinks but it’s a tourist spot!!!

Lovely walk

By Timothy P |

Great fun to walk and see the sights and restaurants. Worth walking in the evening to see the lights and the reflections on the water. Walking during the day was too hot! will return once more.

WOW

By marie b |

Can’t rate high enough. Beautiful, safe, walk along a river. Lots to see, stop, eat, relax, shop. Did the river cruise, only $14 per person. If you are in San Antonio and don’t do the riverwalk, you are missing out.

Have yourself a great time

By MW2210 |

What a great walk. Meandering thru the city. It’s so chilled. Great places to stop for a drink, coffee or something to eat , you can’t go wrong

I love it!!!

By Alai S |

I had gone many years ago with my family and remembered it as a place with a lot of color and atmosphere, and now that I returned with my partner, 18 years later, it did not disappoint!
It is one of the places I have visited that I like the most! It is a small space but with a lot of charm, a lot of culture, a lot of color, a great atmosphere with music and many options to eat divinely, especially Tex-Mex options, very typical of this area!
We went at night and took a boat ride through the most popular and crowded area, and we also went during the day and walked from the Alamo area to the Pearl Brewery. Both activities are highly recommended because they provide two very different perspectives of the riverwalk!

Worthy of a visit; watch your step.

By dfb260 |

A picturesque walk along this waterway. Nice lighting at night. Many restaurants, some very good and some which are terrible and survive only because of the large number of tourists. (Check the reviews before choosing a restaurant.) The shops mostly offer a similar selection of tee shirts, hats, and tacky souvenirs. Worth 2-3 hours, but no more, in my opinion. Lots of steps and uneven surfaces; watch your step! There is a heavy consumption of alcohol in this area.

Lovely with the Christmas lights!

By Melissa K |

We loved seeing the River Walk with the Christmas lights! It was busy and we waited nearly an hour for the canal cruise but with a drink in hand and people watching it wasn't bad at all. Loved the canal cruise!

The San Antonio trip

By homero1982 |

Good place to visit some restaurants in the river walk are over price.Went in the boat ride but it was raining but fun.But recommend

Everything you need!

By Denae M |

We stayed on the riverwalk. There’s shops, restaurants, hotel, etc. We did do the boat tour that was nice. But it’s definitely all walkable. Just a beautiful area

A nice walk

By Iurvik |

Very nice ride, I made it by boat, which allows to have historical details and anecdotes but it is not mandatory.
The theater split in two (steps/stage) is really pretty.

Take a river boat tour

By Doreen P |

We had a wonderful time along the river walk and took a boat tour. I highly recommend the boat tour. The captain was friendly and shared interesting history.

Pretty walk along with river

By Marina D |

It is a nice walk along the river. There are restaurants along your stroll where you can rest and have lunch or dinner.there are also benches where you can just relax and watch small tour boats passing.

Worth a stop; we didn't walk very far because it's so crowded right in downtown

By Deb D |

We had visited with family years ago as kids and wanted to return and see it again now. It's a little run down and the walkways are narrow and crowded. This is an older area - lots of non-ADA compliant points if that is of concern for your group.

We stopped at the Original Mexican Restaurant and had a nice drink and some chips and salsa. Had also put a review on their site, but mentioning it here because the choices seem overwhelming and this spot is within a few blocks of the Hyatt. If you come from the Alamo and access the Riverwalk by taking the elevator in the Hyatt lobby down one level and then go left; - the Hyatt has signs at the hotel indicating this access to the Riverwalk, so I believe it's meant to be a public access point. We weren't staying there.

RIVERWALK IN EVENING

By Vacation633078 |

Very hot day - AC in shops and restaurants was helpful. A lot of walking from one end to the other. Food was good. Riverwalk is nice, but probably nicer in the evening - maybe a little cooler and all the lights at night probably make it prettier. There are probably more people at night, too.

Place to visit whilst in San Antonio

By St_Matty |

If you go to San Antonio, you must visit the Riverwalk. There are various bars and restaurants to go to, and also shops aplenty.
It is nice to just take a casual walk round and just stop off at these bars. You can also go on the numerous boats that go around.

Fun Atmosphere

By Mike M |

We stayed at the Home2Suites right on the Riverwalk and loved walk along it during our time there. It was during Fiesta Week so it seemed very crowded. There lots of restaurants, bars, shops, and hotels all along the Riverwalk. It was even legal to buy drinks to go and enjoy while strolling the Riverwalk. Since it was Fiesta Week, they even had vendors set up selling items in certain spots. It was busy no matter the time of day or night. Be warned though, there are lots of homeless wandering around. They do not bother you at all. The real annoyance was the Wyndham reps trying to get you to sit through a presentation. They just do not take no for an answer and are everywhere!!! They stand at booths with INFORMATION printed really large and in tiny letters below it BY WYDNHAM.

Highly recommend!

By Jana B |

We had a lovely and informative boat ride. There were long lines/wait times when we visited and it was worth every second! I would recommend this to any traveling to San Antonio (this was our first trip there).

Stroll

By rusconire |

Beautiful walk in San Antonio, along the waterway with many shops and bars, in the evening beautiful Christmas lights show

Lots of options near by

By Sofia R |

Nice to stroll about, restaurants, hotels, and bars, but most importantly there are lots of things with kids to do near by

Customer Service Experience

By John H |

Tifaney from customer service was outstanding. I am a Lifetime Titanium Elite Marriott member so I have worked with many customer service people. Tifaney was professional, nice, effective, and very personable. I would hire her if I wasn’t retired. Thanks Tifaney for being the best!

San Antonio river cruise

By Marilyn S |

Very enjoyable boat tor of the San Antonio River. We were there in December when the Christmas lights were lit. It was leisurely and beautiful.

First time visiting

By Tonster |

First time being there was amazing, it was a nice place to walk around and many story history of how it came to be and the temperature was nice not too hot. Lastly I has their shrimp tacos it was good.

A nice night time walk

By maldenmusic |

We had an Amtrak layover a few nights ago and went to the Riverwalk. There were big crowds and lots of activity. If we're ever back we'll try to see more of it

Awesome day exploring the River Walk

By Vork Travel |

The riverwalk is a cool area with lots of places to eat and drink. We visited on a Saturday. It was definitely busy, but service was good almost everywhere we went. The whole area was really pretty at night.

Here are the places we visited:
The Alamo- (not directly on river) interesting to see, area was really busy

Durty Nelly’s- amazing piano player!

On the bend oyster bar-had oysters which were pretty good, service was not great, live music

Mad dogs British pub-great service, live music

Waxys-delicious corned beef and cabbage!

Rewind-(not directly on the river) fun bar with games

Kilwins- (not directly on the river) excellent treats!

Fun Time

By amorace |

I enjoyed the walking, and sight seeing along the river walk, many many restaurants, places to sit and relax and enjoy your self. You can go down the stairs and get everywhere via the paths along the river, or at every block go up to street level. Pretty cool how it all lays our. You can walk right to the mall via the riverwalk.

San Antonio riverwalk

By Gail F |

Beware, there are people from wydam hotel trying to sell time shares at the river walk, didn't buy the timeshare but they were so rude and pushing just ruined our whole trip, may never go back

Must do!

By Amber W |

Such a cool thing to do and especially staying on it! Would definitely recommend! Lots of great restaurants to choose from as well.

Loved it

By WaiPRUSA |

My family and I loved the Riverwalk. It will have a lot of foot traffic, so expect busy restaurants and shops. There is a good amount of food offerings, but I can honestly say that it was miss and hits.

I found it to be a romantic place for a dinner and a walk along the river. There are also plenty of photo areas around the Riverwalk.

Good tour to see what you want to visit after.

By Lesya U |

The tour was good. We got to see what we want to explore after plus a bit of history. Buy your tickets directly from them otherwise if you run into issues with tickets no one will help you. You can get them on the spot. Arrive early if no tickets otherwise line ups can get long but move fast.

ADA Access Really Bad

By Tom G |

ADA Access is horrible. They have elevators but over half are broke. Some broke so long the fact is marked on some maps. None are marked on the 'official' guide map. Gates are closed and locked allowing only walking people to proceed. Wheelchairs and scooter have to turn around and find another way. Very frustrating. Once down there it's kind of nice filled with all the tourist traps you can find in any major city. I found nothing unique. In short, if you can't walk long distances don't bother.

Super nice light around the river

By Roarkim |

Mood, light and atmosphere are very special. Lots of restaurants and people, but also noise. But definitely worth a visit. It is very nice to see and a good little walk to experience a lively evening in the city.

Definitely make it to the San Antonio river walk and grab lunch or dinner and scenic ride on the river.

By K_Traveler |

The San Antonio river walk never disappoints. I’ve been here many times ( as well as lived in San Antonio in the past) and it still has its charm. There is a great mix of restaurants, bars, nightlife and shops. Friendly people and it is a must see.

Cool but mehh

By cassie b |

It was a cool experience but it’s advertised or came across to me at least that there was plenty of shopping on the wall. It’s wayyyyy more restaurant focused you walk through tons and tons of people dining and I didn’t care for that at all

Found a few cute souvenir shops typical of any souvenir shop

Nice place

By Traveler |

Nice place but too much "cheap" shops more or less for tourists. Try to make a short river cruise. Calculate with approx. 35 min.

Pretty

By Ana laura L |

A nice place to take photos, walk or ride the trajinera. As well as dinner or just having a drink. Quiet and comfortable

YOU HAVE TO DO IT

By katyabarba |

Well, I think it is the main attraction of San Antonio (apart from the poplar) since it is very beautiful, you have to take the boat tour and then eat in one of the restaurants on the shore.
I think it costs about $20.
From the tour you can see the Tower of the Americas, several statues, there is a part of a bridge that has padlocks like in Paris hahaha

To walk

By lucianacordoba |

It is one of the attractions not to be missed if you are touring the city, you can walk throughout the area, there are bars, restaurants... or you can also tour it on boats sailing along the river. You have to visit the area, both day and night.

Down by the river!!

By Josh D |

I happened to have an insane week three weeks ago and I saw Phish at the Mann and then Wu Tang at MSG the night after and less than a day after I was in San Antonio for a camp!! I felt like I was in a stimulation the whole week because of all the chaos!! I had the afternoon off the day I got to the camp from training and was running on 4 hours of sleep but I decided to suffer through it and come here with some people!! We got Mexican food at a place and walked around and I also went here on my nights off since San Antonio doesn’t have a lot of things to do!!

Enjoy the healthy walk

By Miriam I |

great walk.. no need to take the boats, walking is healthier 🤭 nice spots to have a few drinks or appetizers… Riverside mall has nice shops as well

Great place to walk, lunch and dinner along the river with enchanting lights

By Julio L |

This is a must see in San Antonio. There are a lot of lights in November. Plenty of Restaurants for lunch and dinner and great place tu walk.

German-ish

By Jill W |

Excellent, piled high, Reuben sandwich. Also, Reuben ?egg-rolls??? Amazing. Same great taste with less bread. Lots of other food choices. Only a few were German style. The chicken schnitzel sandwich was delicious. Husband thought the jueger schnitzel was great

Drive to Austin for an amazing experience!

By F P |

This place is gross!! If you’re into smelly and crappy, subpar food this place is for you. Go to Austin to have an amazing experience. Nothing in San Antonio is worth seeing.

Great experience

By OCCTRAVELE |

Excellent food and recommendations from the waitress. Every thing is super sized so be careful when ordering drinks and food. All sauces tried were excellent and probably some
If the best Tex mex in the area.

Excellent amenity

By davidB9725PO |

Excellent amenity; despite the heat and humidity we really enjoyed our stroll. Our hotel was nearby so we could retreat to cool off. Plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes: also very picturesque.
Highly recommended as a core point whilst staying in the city.
Visitors can also choose the boat tour , which looked neat although we preferred to walk.

Relaxing

By Simone |

Something so beautiful walking the Riverwalk. From the water to the walkways to the ducks to the landscaping. Love all the restaurants and such. You forget you’re actually in a busy city. Off in your own world.

Maybe a different time of year

By shelley S |

It was very crowded and the restaurants are very expensive. Our hotel was on the Riverwalk which was not necessary therefore we overpaid!

REALLY beautifully done and so many miles to walk of beauty!

By CarolynHS |

So much to see and do along this treasure. REALLY beautifully done and so many miles to walk of beauty!

Riverwalk Enjoyment

By CKM5876 |

A very nice time was had during the middle of the week. Lovely plants and flowers everywhere. It was very clean and safe.

Great tour! a Must in San Antonio

By charlesphillips1 |

Spectacular views, lovely weather...great overall, a must to do in San Antonio. Love the tranquility of this area.

ok

By Mary C |

loved the atmosphere, the shops, restaurants, shopping eating out was fun and delicious. the parade was excellent

Always a good time.

By leirachelle |

I went with my family in June 2023. It was the second time I had been to the river walk, but the first time that I took a little river boat cruise. It was really lovely. The last time I went was in December, and the lights were very lovely. Always a good time.

Nice relaxing boat ride!

By Jimbo and Lisa Taylor Smith |

We enjoyed walking around visiting the shops and a nice restaurant before enjoying our boat ride! We had a very nice time!

Iron Works River Walk - Fantastic lunch

By ben |

We ate at the ironworks on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas.

Fantastic food, and great service.

Our waitress-Alice-made guacamole at the table and it was really really delicious.

I would also recommend the pork enchiladas

Riverwalk April

By Out diving |

What a beautiful place to visit. Lots of places to eat and get something cold to drink. Even though it was busy at night no one was pushy. During the day it was peaceful place to walk and just take it in.

Don’t Miss It

By WaJello |

I love this area! Yes the walk area can be confusing because there are a lot of areas to go up stairs instead of just a straight walk, but it is so nice to to walk and people watch or listen to music at night.

We took our teens the first time around and then did a boat tour. Our guide Bob was awesome! Then we had a date night the next night and just had a drink at one of the restaurants while listening to sing to music before moving on to the next bar.

Beautiful!

An absolutely beautiful place for a walk. I was surprised by the number of fountains and water features along the way, a number of which are being refurbished. Lots of restaurants to choose from and the boat tours seem very popular. I wish that we had visited when it was a bit cooler, but we did the full loop and it was quite stunning nonetheless.

Wonderful food, fun and relaxation

By Morgan K |

The River Walk allows for families to learn the history of San Antonio, eat amazing food, shop great little shops and relax.

Lovely aspect of San Antonio

By Deborah W |

Doing the Riverwalk is easy and very enjoyable. There are lots of places to eat and also some shops. It is peaceful and easy to navigate. Highly recommend.

Great Experience

By Cynthia L |

Great for a long weekend. Lots of walking, need to descend stairs to access the Riverwalk and then up again. Great shops , plenty of restaurants, a three story Mall with even more shops and restaurants. We visited during the annual Fiesta, which made it all be more enjoyable.
Took a boat ride around the river which provided a great orientation to the Riverwalk.
And stop in the Esquire Tavern. 100 foot bar and wonderful adult beverages!

Hospitality at its Best

The site far exceeded the normal expectations. The hotel staff has focused on meeting the needs of all that visit the site. It is well ran machine.

The Venice of Texas

By Mees U |

After visiting the Alamo the River walk visited. In a word, great. What a wonderful way to get to know San Antonio. The river is surrounded by beautiful flowers, cozy terraces and art. Combine with a cosy lunch on the waterfront. Highly recommended!

Not great if you are handicapped

By Rick M |

We love the Riverwalk but, improvements are desperately needed. Wife in a wheelchair. Extremely bumpy, painful ride for her due to the uneven stone/brick/pavement. Elevators are few and far between to get from one side to the other and signage is extremely poor. They need signs with arrows pointing you in the direction of restaurants, elevators, etc. the maps with “you are here” dots are confusing and unhelpful. Have a really tough time using our phone gps to find directionally if we are even going in the right direction. Finding where the Go Rio boats leave from and the ticket counters is difficult. They only leave from one side of the river so if you’re not on that side with your wheelchair good luck finding an elevator. Then, the elevators to go up from one side and down on the other side are not located at opposite ends of the same bridge so you go up and then have to navigate the maze of streets to figure out where the other elevator is. Ugh!!

Excellent Trip!

By Chrisv9900 |

The San Antonio Riverwalk was great! The boat tour, Alamo visit and Austin tour all combined were extremely fun and educational! Shout out to my tour guide, Courtney, for a fantastic trip and choice of BBQ at Terry Blackwood's BBQ, in Austin, TX. I highly recommend this tour, great time and worth every penny! Enjoyed immensely!😁

Unique Tourist Attraction

By lovetoteach964 |

We were visiting during Fiesta San Antonio so the downtown River Walk area was very crowded every night, and we visited midweek! Mostly bars and restaurants, very few actual shops. It was a lively, fun scene though, and the area is very pretty. It's much less crowded earlier in the day.

We made reservations for most of our lunches and dinners. Dinner reservations are a must if you want to sit down at the most popular places. If you're driving in, there are parking garages available, but from what I saw they're pricey. We stayed just off River Walk in the quiet part (plenty of decent hotels one to two blocks off the actual River Walk) and didn't need a car. We did Uber away from the area once or twice and it was very easy to do.

Summer on the River Walk

By Grant W |

Summer on the River Walk. A few days in San Antone spent at the Grand Hyatt along the River Walk gave us the chance to stroll along the river and take in the restaurants and shops.

Family friendly, clean and safe the River Walk wasn't very crowded. We easily strolled along the river and even at peak dinner time the wait to get into the restaurants was minimal.

The Riverwalk is a Must-See!

By James T |

The Riverwalk is definitely a must-do while in San Antonio. There are lots of restaurants, bars, and shops along the river. Take a 30 minute boat tour around the Riverwalk first to give you a feel for the area. Visit Alamo Plaza and La Villita which are easily accessible from the Riverwalk. Have fun!

Best Prickly Pear Margarita on River Walk in San Antonio!

By Patricia G |

I had dinner on the Riverwalk at Boudro’s and ordered their Prickly Pair Margarita. It was great as was the salad. The scallops I would not reorder. Service was great and I enjoyed inside dining because it was hot!

River Walk in December 2024

By O3993RXpattym |

Traveled down to the River Walk during our stay. Beautiful lighting for the holiday season! The special holiday boats were a wonderful treat; only wish I could figure out how to get on one.

Bit tourist trappy

By PipPaul W |

Spent 3 nights in SAntonio after the eclipse and went to Riverwalk each evening.
1st, eclipse day, was packed. Other two were much quieter.
Is a tourist trap for restaurants. We were dying for just a beer and to people watch but there isn't anything like that at the Waterside - Food had to be included
Looked well maintained, and clean, but several down-&-outs spoil the vibe somewhat.

Great Way To Spend The Morning

By Ellyk2012 |

To beat the heat of the day, we visited in the morning, so enjoyed walking and browsing, lots to see. Definitely recommend visiting.

A different ride

By alfredooro |

Walk the river walk from pearl to downtown
It's worth touring not just downtown
It takes about 40 minutes but the experience of the buildings and places of recreation made it unique

San Antonio River Walk - Beautiful

By Nicole F |

The river walk is a wonderful experience. The walk along the river is beautifully landscaped and curated with lovely shops, bars and restaurants all along the way.

Great place to visit

By Michael M |

So many things to do, places to eat, and ability to walk through the city. Beautiful and clean. Food was reasonably priced even for touristy area. So much bigger than I had thought.

Not very ADA compatible.

By SteveR_OH |

The Riverwalk itself is a fun experience. The challenge if you are in a wheel chair is that the city has done a horrible job of posting where elevators are. How difficult would it be to post directions to the nearest elevator near every staircase. Also knowing there are not that many elevators, ensure they are working. We wanted to cross the River and two elevators didn’t work. This is very frustrating.

Make it a whole day experience

By Brooke W |

Beautiful option and so calm and serene. It expands such a large part of downtown that it connects each tourist area is a safe way that avoids traffic, with trees and shade, and is so well kept and decorate it feels cultural and that people invest in it. It does get tricky in the higher traffic areas because the sidewalks aren't that large and there are no guard rails between the edge of the sidewalk and the drop off in the water

Must see!

By Phyllis P |

This is a must do in San Antonio. Recommend going at night as it is much more vibrant then. Plenty of spots to eat or have a cocktail.

A must-see in San Antonio

By kkdeacon |

You cannot go to San Antonio without a river walk. It is really nice, so well laid out and full of life. You can also choose more quiet areas if you wish so. A must-do for all.

Do Not Miss!

By Pink P |

This is my favorite part of San Antonio. Beautiful during the day and in the evening when lit up with all the twinkling lights. Lined with stores and restaurants which all have outdoor seating right alongside the water. Was lucky enough to see a Flamenco dancing rehearsal at the little Arneson Theater with the ampitheater seating on the other side of the water. It's a wonderful, unique experience. Do not leave San Antonio without seeing this.

Cool an calm

By Sondra Y Hill |

It was in repair and it was still a nice walk and peaceful atmosphere among the city's activity. Will plan a return visit.

An unexpected pleasure

By dianedinky |

I thought San Antonio was all about The Alamo but here's a real nice walk by the river that, while it isn't Venice, is reminiscent of a stroll on a very picturesque canal.
There are lots of restaurants on each side but nothing much in the way of shops - you need to go off the walk and to La Villita for shopping.

Nice walk with dinner

By Dan O |

Traveled to San Antonio to view the eclipse in April 2024. Visited the Riverwalk and had dinner at Ole'.
It'd been almost 30 years since our last visit. Also visited the Natural Bridge Caverns and that was amazing also

Very nice walking area

By cdfabc |

We enjoyed walking as well as the boat tour. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping accessible from the Riverwalk, as well as the Briscoe Museum of Western Art which we really enjoyed. The boat shuttles were not running on our first day, and we didn't find out until late the second day that they were running again, so we missed out on a couple of attractions that were too far to walk.

Pretty walk

By Gabie |

Very crowded and touristy, but still a nice thing and an opportunity for a stroll, which is not so well possible in many American cities. We were here for St. Patrick's Day and it was very busy, yet we can highly recommend it.

Great place to saunter around

By David G |

We loved walking along the riverwalk, visiting restaurants and the mall there. I recommend the boat tour that gives a good history of the riverwalk and local history.

Nice place to take a long walk

By Shelby C |

I wish I could've found a better map to see where the more interesting areas were to walk by. We walked a long time and only saw a few of the cooler sights that I had read about. It was definitely a beautiful place to walk or run but maybe we should've taken the boat tour if we wanted to see more.

San Antonio river Walk

The lights were very pretty and the guide on the boat was super cool and knew a lot about the history of San Antonio and about Texas all together.

Must-do

By Milk W |

Every visitor to San Antonio should be required to spend some time here 😉. I’ve traveled to a lot of places and have never seen anything quite like it. So much to see and do with the restaurants, shops, and friendly people.

A Magical World

By HeinoP123 |

Winding around and below street level lies the magical world of the San Antonio River Walk. The center of course is the water, channeled off of the San Antonio River through a series of man made canals through which captains steer their eco-friendly tour boats and share information with their cruise passengers. There is a walkway all the way around the river walk with several bridges to cross from one side to the other. In the heat of the day, huge cypress trees provide welcoming shade and at night are lit up creating a unique canopy. Surrounded by taller buildings and being below street level, the intense sun is shaded making it very pleasant. After sunset, the river walk becomes another world. The restaurants, hotels, theaters and other businesses light it up. We walked during the day and again at night and had two very different experiences. While it is billed as a tourist attraction, we also saw many local workers and lots of younger people enjoying the peacefulness, shopping and dining offerings. For being downtown, it's a place to totally escape for a little while. You'll be glad you visited.

Great fun!!! Will we be back 🙏🙏

By Elena D |

This was a 5 star experience!!! Had soooo much fun. There is something for everyone of all ages!!! From historical information to beautiful scenery and the captain was just hilarious!!!!

A fun and entertaining place to visit

By Gabriel H |

Our family of 15 spent several days in downtown San Antonio. Other than the Alamo, the Riverwalk is the center of attention, not to be missed. There is magic in walking around central San Antonio, watching people, looking at the riverboats, stopping for coffee, a refreshment or a meal. This is particularly true in the evening, when the trees are lit up with multiple colors. There are many dozen restaurants to choose from, as well as bars, cafes and shops to load up on souvenirs. We have visited at different times of the year, but spring and late fall are clearly our favorites, since the mild temperatures allow full enjoyment of the outdoors. The Riverwalk takes you to all major central destinations, so it is a much better choice than the sidewalks at street level. Don't forget the camera: there are many Kodak moments.

Must see!!

By Savannah |

It's a pretty cool place with a lot of shops and the boat tour is interesting. It's just very cluttered, so be careful. Some more cons are that all the restaurants are really expensive and the water is dirty.

Be sure to include the San Antonio River Walk to any trip you take to South Texas!

By vacationsights |

We absolutely loved this beautiful place! There's a great food court inside the main building where we bought dinner. Then, we found a place to eat outside by the water as we enjoyed eating and watching all of the boats drive by. After eating dinner, we walked all around the River Walk. It was lovely! Lots of restaurants with indoor and outdoor eating and absolutely beautiful flowers and landscaping!

The River Walk is the BEST anywhere!!!

By Ron K |

We loved the river walk in the day time and at the night time. We made sure we ate lunch and dinner sitting outside by the riverwalk for our entire 7 day trip. We loved the riverwalk so much that we are planning on coming again. There is nothing like this in the entire USA.

Very nice to walk by the river, countless good options to eat

By Giulio L |

It is one of the places not to miss visiting in San Antonio, really very nice.

The river walk gives a lot of life to the center, nice to walk and tour, there are many options of bars and restaurants.

A beautiful stroll through downtown San Antonio.....

By tencatdaddy |

(I just wish the weather had been more accomodating). The history of the River Walk is worth the time taken to make the walk and enjoy not just the scenery but the history of San Antonio. I thoroughly enjoyed meandering and reading the history notices and viewing the beautiful architecture that made the walk what it is.
Ignore the commercialism and just enjoy wandering through the city on this lovely "trail"

Worth a go

Interesting and we arrived just pre-fiesta time do lots of preparation going on. Maybe worth another try when not so hectic.

Wonderful!

By Rosemarie P |

Absolutely amazing! So beautiful and fun at night! A must see while visiting San Antonio. We did the sunset river cruise, and although it was short, it was fun and informative. Lots of great shops and eateries. Loved it!

San Antonio is friendly and beautiful! I had a great time!

By Joyce C |

I went for my birthday. 1st day, I went on the Riverwalk. 2nd day, my birthday, I went on a tour of San Antonio with Mr. Victor Martin. The best tour ever. He was very knowledgeable, patient, energetic, showed us the most beautiful spots and he takes your pictures if you want, fun, but he needs to work on his jokes. ( Lol, I didn’t get any of them.) A very nice man and we got tickets to other San Antonio attractions. Plus a list of great places to eat.
Rosario’s was on it and was so delicious. The Riverwalk has a Nice collection of upscale restaurants, Landry, Chart House, Hard Rock Cafe, lots of restaurants and the people are so nice. It’s so much to see on the Riverwalk and surrounding areas. Downtown San Antonio seemed to be near many of the main attractions. The Alamo, San Antonio Zoo, museums, Japanese Gardens, etc. Yes, my daughter and I had a fabulous time, even with all the construction going on. Pick your hotel wisely and if you want a nice personal tour, call Victor Martin, and bring your walking shoes. Thank you Lord Jesus Christ and TripAdvisor.
. Also do the Hop on Hop off, around town transportation and attractions, not the City Pass, unless you drive. I wasted my money on the City Pass, never used, besides, some attractions you see on a tour guide are the same as the City Pass
Those are my tips from my trip.

A Little Bit of Everything

By Quest802558 |

I had the best time on the Riverwalk. There is every restaurant you can think of. Boats will take you around to see the sites. There are a few shops but just such beautiful views. I love taking video and pictures so I was in heaven with all the flowers and sculptures.

San Antonio Christmas 2024

By Gary D |

The Christmas decorations and lights wear beautiful. We took the river barge ride. We generally do not do this type of thing, but it was very nice and a good way to see the lights and get a little history and trivia. One of my favorite places, especially this time of year.

Always a good time, even in the heat

By Boo913 |

Always a good time at The Riverwalk and this time was no different. The food, drinks and festivities keep me coming back and has for many years and decades too. People-watching is great too!

Get away from the crowd...never mind, its crowded, too

By Texmarc |

This is just one thing that makes San Antonio unique. Turning an eyesore into the most unique place in town was a stroke of genius many years ago. Today it draws thousands of people to it as a place to eat, drink, or just stroll the bankside walks. Expanding both north and south, take the time to explore the parts away from the city loop, you won't be disappointed.

Enchanting and Magical, at night... Cool and fun, by day! ENJOY!

By pinnacle07 |

Enchanting and Magical, reminiscent of Europe!!! It is a great weekend escape to EAT, DRINK, and be MERRY!!! Also, the souvenir shops have authentic Southwestern items. (Many items were similar to what I purchased on a recent trip to Mexico.) Go and let yourself go...

Riverwalk Boats

By Explorer785824 |

This was a quick trip on the way back to Pennyslvania. We enjoyed a delightful half an hour on one of the Riverwalk boats that takes you through the canals.
The “captain” was a wealth of information about the sites that we saw during the tour.
This is a must for any traveler to the Riverwalk !

Always a lovely walk

By Cynthia U |

This is always a lovely walk. It is particularly nice in the spring. Although you can go for many miles it is nicest around the shopping areas.

Reunited with my love of my life and I will always be his girl and I 💋 all over him ❤️

We walked outside and enjoyed watching the water and the lights set the mood so we went back to are VIP SUITE and enjoyed the rest of are weekend

Mysteries solved

By AnLil |

The River Walk is actually a manmade channel that started under the century old county courthouse (or Lady Justice 1896 fountain). The 1843 plaza is where 56 Canary Islanders’ settler statues form the Bejar “Founders Monument”—see Curbelo (R. L. B. Tobin) by 1731 Reservation Chapel beside Sidonius Matthaeus Metzger (1941). Otherwise, the River Walk is only accessible by elevator for mobility impaired folks from certain hotels such as the Hilton. After San Jose mission was enslaved Sugar skulls and copper predating this were found. With Milam & Johnson taking Texas from General Cos (Dec 9, 1835) the 1917 Historical Landmarks Assn. became an economic growth factor…The National Youth Admin. helped in 1941, and Mayor Maury Maverick was determined to develop a part of the Esquire facing Drury Hotel and Aztec or E Commerce-St. Mary’s, which had flooded 12’ high with water in 1920.
The most popular site became the Alamo with the River Walk close to its barrel arches that had no roof (until a limestone stonemason was hired); then the River Walk made La Villita ‘1846’ Church into a national icon. Texicans or the Republic of Texas had a presence there: the US Army got involved in 1836 after Rebels died while defeating Santa Anna around Houston (over 13 days). The Comanches and Delawares too were forgotten, but a Confederate flag wall mosaic was installed with oil money in the 1980s along the River Walk under the Alamo.
During the 1968 fair then-residents of San Antonio were relocated to Meadowvale—not paved around the Hemisphere North of E Nueva (East of Fairmount that was moved from Grand Hyatt). Redlining around the time of the Highlights Tour and no parking availability except streetlevel (after 6) shaped the “city center” beside Marriot/Grand Hyatt or the convention center by 600 East Market Street. The Rosita Fernandez bridge (John Wayne in the Alamo on Sandra Bullock’s “Miss Congeniality”) is easy to find beside Briscoe Museum, facing Cypress Trees or little Marriage Island by Navarro Bridge. The St Mary’s Institute at Salina Bridge is now La Mansion. That’s not too far from Trevino-Dolorosa (City Hall) and City Council Chamber’s Frost Bank tunnel, where in the 1950s refugees from Mexico were taken in by Father Garcia. The Apaches had buried a horse and weapons at this 1873 plaza and the government didn’t honour their treaty beside Main Plaza cathedral. Although you’ll miss it on one of the street-carriages, tunnels run past the locks: for flood diversion 4 went Southward with one tunnel ending at the girls’ high school gym; another ran along Brooklyn near the Emily Morgan, where indigenous women recall the former clinic (or involuntary sterilizations); a different channel runs from the river locks at the bridge. River taxis are commonplace midday like the 6-year old river barges, unless you want to take a kayak South toward the old missions and former boys’ grounds.

Great once we knew where to go

By Amber P |

Once we found the right area to go to we were good. But walking around in the august heat with a baby and a 5 year old for 30 minutes trying to find the right place sucked. But then it was really nice and beautiful.

A must see!

By Dagwood1908 |

I wish I had more time to shop and eat at every restaurant along the River Walk. Take the boat tour, you'll love it! Sailing on the water makes you feel relaxed!

Walkable, Riverwalk is a level lower than road/streets

By Trina |

I mean come on, of course this is a must do when in San Antonio. What I didn't realize is the riverwalk is below the roads/streets, which makes it ideal for walking. Gorgeous at night with all the lights. Restaurants galore (I didn't find the food served around the Riverwalk area to be very exceptional). Not many shops though, of which are mostly touristy type souvenir shops.

Riverwalk is awesome!!

By Suzann47 |

The Riverwalk is awesome! The cruise on the river at night is beautiful. There are lots of restaurants and shops along one side of the river. On one side there are a few waterfalls and lots of flowers. Loved it.

Great Use of the River

By aporteus |

Really interesting use of the river / creek that runs through San Antonio. Really crowded and noisy in the downtown area where all the restaurants and hotels are, but still interesting. Much quieter & nicer outside the downtown core. It's really convenient having the galleries & museums connected, as well as the back door of the hotel

Great Experience Worth Our Time

By Brian B |

San Antonio River Walk was the primary reason for visiting the city. We were not disappointed. The river through the city is 15 miles; 5 miles through downtown. It’s more like a canal at this point. It is the number one tourist spot in San Antonio. Hotels, Restaurants, Shops, and Bar’s line the river walkways.

Great for walks in the morning

By Chiili |

We started at the end of the river walk at the Hotel Emma. Lots of ducks. The River Walk is clean and appears save to walk. You can walk the entire way. There are places to stop if it is later in the day but in the early morning most places are closed. The art museum is on the River Walk as well as the zoo.

Just Beautiful!

By jonesinmybones |

My only prior experience with the River Walk was during a short afternoon visit back in 1984. I've wanted to return since then. The River Walk was just as beautiful as I remembered it to be. There are so many excellent choices of restaurants, bars, shopping. There is plenty of shade and rest spots so you can enjoy strolling at your own pace. My only wish is that there would be a sort of "hop on/hop off" river boat so you could visit the whole extent of the various areas more easily.

Excellent with one exception

By Mike M |

Highlights were the River Walk, Fiesta Noche del Rio, Spanish missions including the Alamo. One downside was our vehicle was bandit towed and police could not resolve with tow company (theft, extortion?) for a legally parked and paid for stall in a Plat#### parking stall. We informed the City Manager of the incident and black mark it left with us on our experience in San Antonio. In the end we got our money back for the tow/impoundment but took a battle to get it. We believe we were targeted due to out of state (country) license plates but cannot prove that. I would recommend avoiding downtown during any conventions (there were 5000 herbalife people swarming the downtown the three days we were there which made the river walk in particlular very congested).
Having said that, our overall experience in San Antonio was excellent and would go back but would be very cautious of certain parking lots managed by one particular company.

Business Trip

By tam5752024 |

The atmosphere was great, fun for St. Patricks Day. Restaurant staff were all very welcoming. Felt safe the entire time.

Great long weekend getaway

By shellymichelle1 |

Great long weekend kind of place/trip. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency right on the Riverwalk and it was wonderful. The back of the hotel literally opens up to the Riverwalk and has outdoor seating for bar and restaurant. Hotel has a rooftop pool open till 10pm and food and drinks can be delivered from hotel bar/rest. The Alamo is a short walk right across the street. The Riverwalk has lots of bars, restaurants and souvenir shopping. You can get margaritas to go and walk up and down both sides of the canal. If you enjoy historical monuments, The Alamo is a must. 300 years of history and church plus museum were stunning.

Take a boat ride at night!

By cooms2014 |

I always love the Riverwalk! The boat rides may be a little pricey, but worth it to see more. (I especially love riding the boats at night....the lights are gorgeous!) I just enjoy walking around the Riverwalk. I especially think it is interesting that it has only been around for 40ish years and was going to be used as a sewer.

San Antonio First Class.

By Steve Durham. |

During a four night stay in Texas, we visited the historic city of San Antonio. We travelled from Austin on the greyhound bus, which is a dammed site better than the 56 from Durham to Bishop Auckland.
After a walk through Travis Park we stumbled across the Buckhorn saloon and museum. An incredible collection of "wild west" artifacts and well worth a visit.
Next was a short walk to the Alamo, passing some beautiful architecture on the way.
Some people say they are underwhelmed by the size of the Alamo. The only remaining chunk of history is the Chapel. A great piece of American history. Personally, I loved the place. I remember watching the original movie (as a child), with Hollywood legends John Wayne and Richard Widmark, amongst others.
...a little footnote: Eleven Englishmen gave their lives trying to defend an Amercan way of life, something I'm incredibly proud of.

After a morning sightseeing, it was time to head towards the Riverwalk, and join the hundreds of Sunderland fans congregated along the waterfront. Some excellent bars bars, with plenty of Guinness and some decent local brews.
After a cracking afternoon, it was time to head up to Toyota Fields for a friendly that was cleverly advertised as SAFC v SAFC.
This was my first taste of a "soccer" match and it certainly didn't disappoint, with the locals being very passionate and knowledgeable about football.

Overall a brilliant away day.

Nice area

By hbhakh |

The Riverwalk is the main attraction and tourist area in San Antonio. It's really more like the size of a canal through the City. It's a charming area that's very well maintained. It is very walkable and there are many restaurants and hotels along the way. It's also convenient to other attractions like the Alamo. It does get a little busy at night.

A Must See if in San Antonio

By amyw2012 |

This is the 2nd thing I think of when I think of San Antonio. It is pretty at all parts to walk around on. There are also 3 ticket areas where you can buy tickets to the boat tours, which I also think are a must do. The restaurants are nice, and one of the bridges is famous from Selena. My favorite area was the one from the Miss Congeniality movie. One complaint I have is there are no water refill stations, so we spent $ on new water bottles. There are a few good places for ice cream. My girls’ favorite part was the picture taking opportunities.

Riverwalk

By Robert B |

We spent a great deal of time on the Riverwalk during a recent visit to San Antonio. There are great bars and restaurants as well as gift shops and other attractions. We also did the boat ride.

Nice

By Ken C |

Have heard about it, now can say we have been there. It was very hot, but we had a great time. Even now, when hot, it looks Nice. Evenings are great as the lights make it. Many choices of places to eat, many Hotels close by within walking distance.

Beautiful!

By Arielle |

The River Walk is beautiful! I walked up and down it yesterday while exploring the downtown area. There are lots of restaurants, shops, and hotels along the River Walk, as well. I plan to go on one of the river cruises later today.

Unique tourist attraction - it's what you make it

By Brian J |

Sure it's incredibly commercialized and there's a cheap margarita at almost every turn ... but that's kind of the point. The Riverwalk is kind of what you make it. Clearly some want it to be a pub crawl with questionable (non-existent?) open container laws. But others come for the boat tours and quirky bridges and access points. Do expect the usual collateral issues (homeless folks, pushy sales people, spotty cleanliness) keeping mind there's a ton of folks who come through here daily. It's definitely unique and worth a visit.

Also can report we saw someone catch a fish out of the river apparently with the intention of eating it. Not sure that would be my call but, while heavily engineered and managed, it is a real waterway.

Day of the Dead Parade

By Designer |

We were there for the Day of the Dead Parade "not on purpose". It was a neat way to experience the celebration on the river with lights and decorated boats. We stayed on the river at the Omni which was perfect for watching all the activity. Did not do the boat tour, however looked fun.

Checked off this place on my list as one of the destinations to visit.

Fly in to San Antonio if possible. We drove from Dallas and the traffic is horrendous.

Our favortite time to walk was in the morning early before the crowds started. Very clean and attractive river walk.....

River Walk: must-see day and night

By Rodolfo Jeronimo |

San Antonio’s River Walk is charming at any time: by day you enjoy the architecture and relaxed atmosphere, and at night it transforms into a light and life show. The boat ride takes about 30 minutes, but walking is even better: every corner has its magic, with restaurants, music and views inviting you to stop. Ideal to walk it calmly and be surprised.

I don’t’t get it

By gondekp |

I’ve been to San Antonio a few times, and tend to stay at a hotel near or one the Riverwalk. At the end say, it’s a nice park. Yes, you can go for a walk and see trees, flowers, and some ducks. And a boat goes by every so often. There are long stretches of just nature be other clusters of restaurants. I just seems overly touristy. Among the restaurants are your sterile, Hard Rock, Rain Forest cafe, Bumba Gump, a handful of places claiming to have the best margaritas. People at the hostess stand trying ushering you in with a deal. The Ripley’s museum and wax museum. There are better restaurants elsewhere in the city without the gimmicks. I wouldn’t make this destination. If you’re in the area on a nice day and want to go for a walk, sure go for it, but for me it isn’t much more than that. Sometimes you’ll find that you need to be on the other side of the river, but you have to walk a quarter mile to find a bridge. Sometimes you’ll wander to a dead end at a hotel but the door is locked for guests only and you have to turn around.

Nice scenic relaxing walk

By Nedelakttraveler |

It is a ‘nice’ walk - scenic and relaxed in heart of San Antonio. Lots of little shops just off the walk and nice little restaurants/bars along. Lots of access to city and various sites.

Riverwalk is a must.

By Running on Vacay |

The Riverwalk is a must in San Antonio. As a San Antonio native there is always something to do along the river. It is 15 miles long so try not only stay in the River Center are (which is where the tourist downtown area is). Venture off towards the Pearl and even the Missions. There is a lot of beautiful mosaic tile art along the way of course the boats.

Good vibes

By Rhys |

This place is a good vibe, did not expect to find a rainforestesque river walk in the middle of a Texan city. Only wish I went back at night too :)

Happy Stroll

By PhlegmMaster |

My wife and I walked along the river; it was a pleasant stroll. We enjoyed the more quiet areas, and avoided the crowded spots. The bridge with all the locks on the fence was a fun sight.

Have to experience this area

By jrf0801 |

Nice leisurely walk along this historic riverwalk in San Antonio. Even though the temps were very cold the day we went we were glad we experienced this beautiful area. Lots of restaurants, hotels and shops you can enter while taking the Riverwalk.

The River Walk experience

By hoysse e |

My wife and I went to the River Walk for our 24th Anniversary and we are so glad we did. The whole experience walking thru all the different businesses next to the river was great. Although there were quite a a few hundred people, everyone was super nice. The wait for the boat ride was a bit long and since we had never been there, we wanted to experience it. It was ok, not great; Almost as waiting for a ride that the line is really long, then the ride is not worth the wait.
We enjoyed it more when we walked around it as it gives you more time to stop and visit the shops and try the local restaurants. We ate at the Hard Rock and although a bit over priced, we only had to wait 30 min and the food was really good.

Love the Riverwalk

By Jessica B |

Such a beautiful and romantic location. Clean and lots to do. Great food and shopping options. Take a day and just walk around the river and take it in

Awesome place to walk

By James D |

Awesome place to walk and feel safe. Restaurants, bars and gift shops everywhere. The boat tour was great also and informative. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

Better than I expected

By TravelingBum10 |

This place is better than I expected. It’s so beautiful and tranquil. There’s something to see at each street. It’s a must do if you’re in the area. Try to find parking on the street as it’s only $4 for a 2 hour max parking.

San Antonio escaped

Love the ambiance of the scenery and the food was great too! lots of walking around the river , lots of vendors in the sidewalk

Absolutely Magical! A Must-Visit in San Antonio

By CASEY H |

The San Antonio River Walk is truly one of the most beautiful and vibrant places I’ve ever visited. From the moment I stepped onto the pathway, I was surrounded by stunning scenery, charming bridges, and an atmosphere that feels both lively and relaxing at the same time.

There are endless restaurants, cafes, and shops to explore—each offering its own unique vibe and great views of the river. I loved taking a riverboat tour and learning about the history behind this iconic area. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic evening stroll, a family outing, or even just a peaceful walk with a cup of coffee in hand.

Everything was clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate. The combination of natural beauty, culture, and entertainment makes the River Walk a destination I would happily return to again and again.

If you’re visiting San Antonio, the River Walk is an absolute must—five stars all the way!

Beautiful shaded stroll along the Riverwalk

By fbglove |

Absolutely beautiful with meandering walkways along the river. Many restaurants and hotels line the Riverwalk. River sight-seeing boats travel up and down. Large stunning cypress and other trees are all along the river and walkways for a nice shaded stroll.

Unique and charming little city

By Traveller & Foodie |

Wow! The river walk was absolutely delightful. There was so much to explore—from historic statues and mouthwatering restaurants to the warm, friendly locals. The area is picturesque, charming, and truly one of a kind, even safe to enjoy at night. I’m thrilled I got to experience it firsthand.

A Must Do in San Antonio!

By Arty_mom |

The Riverwalk is fill of water features, sculptures of all kinds, art, restaurants, and more. It mianders thru downtown San Antonio. In some areas, you can even find some ducks and other creatures. Very relaxing and serene. Great forniurdoor eating.

Must see!

By jderou621825 |

This was my first time in San Antonio and it was Beautiful. The boat tour we took was at night and the lights were gorgeous. We at at Margaritaville and sorry to say we were not impressed and it was very expensive. But everything else was wonderful!

Walk the walk…a must!

By Joni P |

I walked every mile of the river walk that was accesible! Beautiful! I also did a river cruise and since it is Fiesta, we watched the River parade! The River walk is magical anytime of the day.

Amazing, atmospheric, walkable and friendly

By podrozniczka60 |

San Antonio Riverwalk exceeded my expectations. I ended up walking and exploring both banks of the river for hours. I loved the bridges, sculptures, restaurants and flowers . One early morning I witnessed the meticulous maintenance, barges of fresh flowers replacing those plants with tired looks. We ate in a few Riverside restaurants.
We enjoyed lovely and entertaining boat ride through the beautiful neighborhood. On foot I walked to distant districts of SanAntonio enjoying the path along the river.
San Antonio Riverwalk is great attraction for anyone first time in the city.

Fun experience

By djfred49 |

Lots to see. Plenty of shopping and restaurants. The river boat ride is a lot of fun with lots of information. Easy access from many of the hotels.

sea world-texas

By atraveler300 |

sea world is about 30 minutes from riverwalk area-not as good as orlando-spread out and tickets on line have to be re issued inside the park-not very customer friendly-However we sign up my grandson for dolphin encounters-and the staff and experience was very well done-

Great area, nice walk.

By DGoat |

The is a beautiful downtown walking area. Lots of restaurants and a few stores. A little touristy and some drinks and food are priced at tourist levels. Still definitely a must do in San Antonio.

Touristy but still cool!

By Patti F |

The River walk has lots of cool shops and restaurants. It gets a little crowded and sometimes the entry from street level is hard to find. Worth the effort. If you’re from the East Coast, it’s really more of a canal.

The magic is in the lighting!

By GraceB |

I took the boat ride and the photos are incredible!
And just on the day that Saint Patrick was celebrated 🍀!
There was a lot of partying in the bars.
100% recommended
Going at dusk is ideal!

The San Antonio River Walk was so beautiful and delightful.

By TennisStar602 |

I went to San Antonio for my premier time in 1996 when I was a young child. My memories of this walkway were vague. I took a walk along this route in March 2024, and the scenery was stunning. There were many restaurants and shops on both sides of the river. I took a boat ride as a child, but I did not take a boat ride during this time. The walkways were rather narrow and people were not the best to stick to a single file. There were no gates to prevent people from accidentally falling into the water. There were a lot of tropical and Southern plants.

Daytime fun

By buddie |

Tons of things to do here. Many spots to eat, live music to hear, and tons of shops. There was a lot of Mexican places to eat, but we found one BBQ. Great time.

Just an awesome place

By lemmingss |

Very clean, took the boat trip and was very pleased. It was nice to learn some history of suck a marvelous place. All personnel were friendly, just stay away from the guys in Black Shirts trying to sell you a time share

Will not regret

By BMF70 |

Big fun! Lots of shops, restaurants, bars beautiful sites, fountains, architecture. A must go if in San Antonio 😀😀😀😀

Amazing Hotel

By Mary Michelle O |

The hotel was exceptional. The concierge was extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel. Very close to the River Walk and local restaurants.

Must See—-Don’t pass this up.

By Making Memories |

We didn’t have much time here. We were visiting family in Corpus Christi and decided to leave very early to drive to San Antonio to see the sights. We had a few hours before our flight was to take off.

We decided to check out the riverwalk. It DID NOT disappoint! It’s beautiful. I didn’t realize how big it actually was. I believe was walked around for about two hours and still had more to see but was running out of time. Lots of restaurants, bars, shopping.. it had everything. Nice hotels. I was very disappointed we didn’t have more time here. We are planning to visit family again in CC and will take a few days in San Antonio while here.

Lots of places to park. We found a a nice garage (expensive but convenient).

I will highly recommend this to everyone. We enjoyed are short time here and can’t wait to come back.

Don't go in the heat of summer

By rckhrs23 |

Nice place to visit but way too hotin August. It was 100 degrees at 5pm. Too hot to walk and take in stores and restaurants. I like to sit outside for a drink but it was unbearable. Took the boat ride which was fun with a little relief. Plan to spend at least 5 hrs on Riverwalk ....in a cool month

Shops and Dining

By Erica W |

The Christmas lights were beautifully done. Lots of shops and dining along the way. Would recommend reservations for dining.

Great food and fun

By buddie |

Tons of stuff to do, to buy, to see, to listen to and buy. Great time seeing the fans of the NCAA basketball tournament in San Antonio

nice atmosphere

By 196heathero |

A must do in San Antonio. The river walk is mostly lined with restuarants (some very over priced), so if you're wanting to shop this may not be the spot for you. But it is a nice atmosphere to just walk along the shaded path, maybe stop and have a drink or dinner. For $14 (adult) you can take a 30 minute boatride and learn about the history of the river walk. There are places to buy tickets for the boat ride along the walk. I reccomend it, especially if it is hot. A couple places along the walk have live music so fun to just sit/stand and listen.

Riverwalk is a vision that came to life

By Bon09 |

I can only say who ever came up with this idea and put it together certainly is what I'd call a visionary.
Well done from that aspect.
We were on our first trip with a family member who is in a wheelchair. what we didn't know is that San Antonio is focused on able body visitors.
We found it a challenge in finding parking , loading , unloading the wheelchair & cousin.
Finding access points to the Riverwalk since you have to go down was also difficult. Thankfully a construction worker told us what hotel to go to in order to ride down the 1 level so she could enjoy it.
It was packed with people enjoying their day.
The people of San Antonio are so friendly and helpful.

More expected

By xonthebeach |

To be honest, I expected more. Some of the restaurants look very dirty

Great Holiday Activity

By jpgina53 |

The San Antonio Riverwalk will put you in a Christmas mood in December. There are El Rio boats which ply the not that deep river and taking one at the start of your trip gives you the lay of the land. Many hotels and restaurants line the Riverwalk and a few stores and museums too. Some hotels have easy access for the mobility challenged and I saw at least one public elevator to avoid steps. Great photo opportunity with lights in the trees and floral displays and statues. The Bridge of Locks is a not to be missed part with its nearby wedding chapel.

Beautiful Scenic Walk

By Pat K |

The River Walk was very impressive with many dining options with outdoor patios, beautiful gardens & impressive historic sights throughout. Very well maintained!
Great casual stroll on either side of the canal.

Great Destination

By trathe2023 |

Probably one of the coolest destinations to pass the time. Much to see and to do. Well kept, clean and safe. Would highly recommend.

Love the River Walk

By Raven L |

What a beautiful city! The River Walk is lively, colorful, and fun. Full of history and great sights. Great places to eat, too!

A Top Attraction

By digitalroc |

Like most people, this was one of my top attractions and primary reasons to come to San Antonio. I walked the San Antonio River Walk everyday while I was in San Antonio, including a river cruise and watching the Day of the Dead parade. The only think I didn’t like, was the quantity of debris and garbage in the river, as I know the City of San Antonio can do a better job at clean up.

Beautiful

By Jessica C |

Of course a must see in San Antonio! We really enjoyed Fiume Pizza, County Line barbecue, and seafood at Bubba Gump Shrimp. And the river tour of course!

Amazing river

By Nicki S |

It was a wince walk along the river you can see both the beauty of the city and river together. Specially in the evening it is totally different with the ligts

Nice and relaxing place to have dinner and a drink. Seen a few kids but not much.

By Monica K |

Pictures are beautiful but seeing in person is breathtaking. It was very clean and lots of things to do. We didn’t get a chance to ride the ferry. Lots of place to sit and eat on the riverwalk. Vibes were on point. Husband and I walked through. Souvenir store had lots to choose from.

Texas style

By Billie H |

A wonderful place to visit. As there is so much to see and do the food is one of the reason I go back

Enjoyed every bit of it.

By Jamison W |

Was a great experience but I’d recommend going at night since it was super hot during the day. The restaurants and bars around the riverwalk all had great vibes. Overall enjoyed the city and what downtown has to offer.

Bad City. Go elsewhere.

By David W |

We wanted to enjoy the river walk area and Alamo, but our vehicle was broken onto with many items stolen and over $3,000 damage to our vehicle. Filing report, police say nothing they can do. What a pathetic city. Don’t go unless you have hired guards.

Great way to spend the day!

By Ivette A |

It had many great bars and restaurants through the entire walk. It was nice to just walk around, and enjoy the nice weather.

River Walk during the Holidays

By Gail B |

Lights at night were beautiful and the surrounding fun. So many restaurants to choose from. We had grandkids with us and they loved it too

River Walk

By Carol G |

The River Walk is very interesting and neat to do. There are many restaurants, and the boat ride points out historical interests and nice views. We did see a water moccasin along the path. We enjoyed seeing all the sights. There are quite a lot of homeless people roaming around.

Riverwalk

By Raquel p |

Beautiful place to visit. A must day or night. We took 17 family members on the river tour and it was wonderful and smooth. Narrator Mary Jane was funny and fun.

The highlight of San Antonio

By tinaNtravel |

The riverwalk is really a highlight of San Antonio. Along the river, on both sides is a wide sidewalk and next to the sidewalk are a lot of restaurants and souvenir shops. We went around dinner time on a Saturday night and the section of the Riverwalk we were on, was packed with people. Just about every restaurant was filled and many more people were walking around. I recommend taking the short, informative boat tour.

Beautiful Riverwalk

By TBoz97 |

The Riverwalk is simply beautiful. If you enjoy people watching and taking in the sites, don't miss out. There are a lot of shops and eateries. My husband and I enjoyed it very much.

Extended anniversary weekend

By John C |

We had a really good time, had never stayed on the Riverwalk before so went for a few days for our anniversary. Really nice weather very pleasant not too crowded which made our stay a lot more enjoyable. Easy access to the Riverwalk, a few restaurants to choose from at the hotel which were all decent, a bit expensive but good food. Our room was on the opposite side of the Riverwalk, so we looked out over the city view which was quite a nice view. Very nice room deluxe King suite. The weather was perfect for us nice to walk around and see other restaurants and shop and not have to worry about getting in your car and driving anywhere. You can walk literally from one end of the Riverwalk to the other. Spent some time by the pool, not very big but enjoyable. We had a really good time, had never stayed on the Riverwalk before so went for a few days for our anniversary. One of the best buzziest areas I have been to in a long time

By Keith W |

This really is the heart winding its way around downtown San Antonio. Nice during the day but really comes to life at night, whatever you do in SA do not miss a walk along the pathways at night, we loved it, so many choices fir bars and restaurants or take the cruise boat and look out to the heaving banks.

Unavoidable

By Samir K |

It is a must-see destination in Texas. Absolutely worth visiting.
A top tourist attraction

Nice Fun Atmosphere

By Patti |

Fun visit, Riverwalk is nice, well kept (river is quite dirty). A lot of restaurants to choose from and some shopping. Need about one to two days visiting the Riverwalk.

Stroll, People Watch, Enjoy Lunch or Dinner on the Riverwalk

By M&JR |

A must do while in San Antonio. The Riverwalk defines San Antonio as a wonderful place to visit. You’ll meet people who go back year after year. We noticed how much cleaner the river was from the time we visited 18 months ago. We must have caught our visit perfectly. We had the entire river to ourselves. Fort Worth, TX has a plan for their own Riverwalk. Fortunately, there is only one Riverwalk and San Antonio has it.

River Walk South of Downtown is not so touristy and really pretty

By jpc1602 |

I walk the part of the river walk south of downtown San Antonio every day. It’s not as touristy and really beautiful. The first Friday night of ever month has the art studios in Blue Star open for viewing. That’s right off the river walk off of S Alamo st. It’s a lot of fun. There are great places to eat there and it’s adjacent to the historic King William District.

Must See While in San Antonio

By Linda A |

We stayed at a hotel right on the River Walk and it couldn't have been better. We were there for 3 days and didn't need our car at all. Plenty of restaurants, shopping and lots of just browsing and people watching. Everything you need is within walking distance. It's actually a 15 mile River Walk right through the heart of San Antonio and there is plenty to do. I know we didn't do the entire 15 miles but strolled at our leisure quite a few miles. Loved it.

Enjoy a good stroll

By anderson213 |

Elegant and beautiful. We ate along the River Walk a couple of times. Strolling through the maze of sidewalks and bridges can be a fun experience for any age. Romantic experience for couples.

Great 3 Day Getaway!

By Jeffrey Jones |

My wife and I did this as a getaway to end the 2025 a year. We spent three days and two nights there. We ended up staying at a hotel that was on the river walk, it was a Hilton hotel named canopy Hilton. There are a string of hotels that have easy access to the Riverwalk in the Riverwalk is such a nice thing to do late in the evening and at night.

We had a great time and I would encourage anyone to do the same. Three days gives you time to do what you would like to do during the night, visit the Alamo, take in some entertainment it enjoys some wonderful Tex Mex.

Definitely worth doing

By Alan |

Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.

It gives you a unique insight into the character of the place.

There are also plenty of places to just sit, chill and watch the works go by.

Spectacular Site

By BaileyM&G |

The historic architecture that surrounds the River Walk, the scrumptious restaurants offering various dining options, and the water way itself makes for a relaxing and amazing time. A ride on one of the tour boats adds to the magic that comes from the River Walk. It’s a definite must do.

Riverwalk Experience.

By G. M . K. |

A pleasant walk alongside the river, plenty of cafes/restaurants and a few shops.
The pavement isn't very wide'especially with riverside dining, we walked along quite freely, but this was November & not the height of summer.
There are river cruise boats at various points, trip lasts approx half an hour & run on into the evening.
Just be aware of Timeshare sellers offering incentives, such as 'cheaper' boat tickets/free bus tickets/vouchers for restaurants along the riverwalk.

San Antonio Rivewalk Disappointing

By Dgrthomas |

Please read - don’t be fooled by the good reviews, this place is truly disappointing. It’s mainly a bunch of overpriced restaurants along a few canals. Boat ride was ok, nothing special, rest of the city is very rundown, lots of construction. Not much to see or do, very unimpressive, would not visit again.

Loved it!

By Theresa B |

Absolutely the highlight of our time. During the Christmas Season it was beautiful to visit during the evening.

There is definitely areas that are busier than others. My husband and I walked each of the areas and you will find some busier than others. There are ways to get out of the maddening crowds -- you just need to be willing to walk a little bit more. We like to walk and one day walked to the Pearl District. That's what we enjoyed -- many of the local sites can be visited by walking.

Highly recommend.

Take the walking tour with Stewart

By Joseph M |

Stewart did a wonderful job telling the stories he uncovered and wove them throughout the tour leading to a low point and ending with a climax. It was like listening to a short story with little stories that added interest along the way. He honored a key person of history linked to the river walk through his story telling. I highly recommend the guided walking tour with Stewart.

A nice stroll at the water

By CarloHelmond |

Take your time for a stroll at the water's edge. There is no real reason to take a tour (but you can if you want), just meander along the water, having a look at the shops and find something to drink and/or eat. At night there is even a nicer ambiance when the lights go on and the live music is playing. Just shift down a gear and enjoy

Wonderful ambience and energy

By Bhaskar_10 |

visited on 7th July 2023

The place has restaurants, souvenior shop and hotels along a man-made canal. the place is very crowded and locals and tourists are equal frequenters at this place.

live misic, energy and color sof lights make this place a must experience both for locals and tourists.

boats and kanoe rides are popular at this attraction and the restaurants and bars command premium pricing and waiting time is high.

Do experience an evening here along with your friends or family.

Be prepared for long walk around this area. There is a concert area as well where events take place evry now and then.

Riverwalk - San Antonio is all for you to enjoy.

River Walk

By C8281XNjt |

We loved the boat cruise around the downtown area. Very informative and full of history.
The line was long but worth the wait.

Beautiful at Night

By Albert W |

Unbelievable so much to see and do restaurants stores mall food courts something for everyone in the family and at night time it is lit up with lights you can go to upper level or lower level lot of walking but worth it

Holiday Lights🚦🎄

By CT |

Enjoyed the cute shops and restaurants along the winding stones by the river. Seeing and hearing the boat ride drivers and passengers as they cruised by. Ate at a couple of different places ( I will review later) and watched evening holiday lights come on at sunset. Lovely. We don’t like crowds but did our research and knew it was going to be extremely populated at this time of year. We decided we wanted to see the holiday waterway ambience more than we hated crowds. Glad we went.

River walk

By Georgina T |

Had a great time on the riverwalk. Restaurants, shopping and river boat cruise. Friendly people and clean city that felt safe.

Great attraction

By Passenger717625 |

Loved this place. Loaded with tons of food & beverage options to enjoy as you stroll along with river. They offer a boat tour for about $15 per person with multiple stops throughout the river. Not sure if there a hop on hop off option. Unfortunately our tour was during the day so I can't comment on if it's better at night. My guess is yes.

Walk through the history books

By Capayrancher |

A historic walk through history. Well maintained and knowledgeable volunteers.
Definitely a must see if visiting San Antonio

River Walk

By Lisa J |

This is a very unique experience. We were there during the daytime, but I think it would be better during the night. For one it would be cooler and two it would be lit up with lights and that would be really pretty. There are lots of restaurants along the walk along with hotels. Its very convenient to the Alamo. Great place to walk, it is shaded with very old cypress trees and bridges let you walk from one side to the other. A must do if in the area.

The Lovely and Interesting River Walk

By stOOOge |

The amazing River Walk in San Antonio. It's even more beautiful at night. Many people dining this night and just strolling the byways. Not as clean as I remember, but still a lovely and interesting attraction. Close to our hotel.
Always fun. Lots of police presence so no security worries at all. Go and enjoy.

Exercise, music, discoveries... one of the best tours you can do in this city.

By Alucard66 |

I love to go for a walk and if you can, eat something on the tour, but even though it is very nice to go in the boats and hear a little of the history of the city, it is better to walk along the banks, the bridges, hear the music and enjoy the little things you find like some statues, waterfalls, etc. There's always something to see.
Highly recommended.

A must see... We always enjoy our time and it never gets old..

By Mike D |

Always enjoy our time here. The atmosphere with the lights and sights are numerous. We try and go every year. There are also other attractions nearby to enjoy and see.

San Antonio River Walk

We enjoyed the boat cruise along the river and learning the history of the River Walk. While we did not walk the whole thing, we were surprised that most of the shops were for souvenir shops rather than artisans.

The Romance of San Antonio

By Dick L |

No visit to San Antonio can be complete without a walk along the San Antonio River. Gorgeous. So serene, exotic smells from the eateries, visually enticing with beautiful flowers, water falls and greenery. Walk gently as the sidewalks may be a bit uneven. We did not see anyone fall nor stumble but your eyes will be everywhere except the walkways! So many different offerings of foods- steak houses, seafoods, Tex-Mex. Not a place to go for breakfast. And of course eating under the stars is so dreamy. Do take a boat ride, day or/and night. Best time we went was during Fiesta to see all the parades and the boat parade along the River (end of April)

Riverwalk! =)

By luishomer |

It's a very pretty place, with boat tours, shops, restaurants, and it gets very lively at nightfall. It's also 100% safe, a must for San Antonio.

There is still Great Customer Service out there !!!

By Yvonne S |

The Staff in valet were excellent. The person who stood out to me the most was Petra in concierge. I was having a terrible day but she managed to turn my frown upside down. The minute I walked in, I was greeted with eye contact and Petra made me feel welcome and special. Thank you Petra for ending our crazy week with not only professionalism but also humor. You are one of a kind!!!!
The hotel was amazing 10+++

Say NO to captain Mitch

By nhat d |

Captain Mitch is very terrible. He don’t know enough history. He substitute with off colors jokes. Sometimes, it feels like he added a racist comments, degratory towards women and stupid jokes….Be aware of this older bearded captain.

Don't miss it... So be it brief

Absolutely beautiful walking along the river channel are several kilometers of charming places and beautiful gardens and works of art.

Pleasant walk along the river

By Sushar |

The Riverwalk offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a leisurely stroll, dine at various restaurants, and take a scenic boat tour along the river. The riverside path provides a peaceful atmosphere for a relaxing walk, with the option to stop and dine at different eateries along the route. The boat tour is a delightful experience, allowing you to explore the entire length of the river in a shorter time compared to walking.

This is definitely one of the most popular and enjoyable attractions in San Antonio and is a hit with both families and romantic couples.

Not as it’s portrayed online

By rosscos98 |

This was our first visit to the city and we were thoroughly looking forward to the Riverwalk as it looks great in any pictures online. We first walked along it late afternoon and it wasn’t massively crowded which was nice but nearly every bridge we walked under, had homeless drunks walking/staggering barefoot or laying sleeping and the smell of urine everywhere was bad. We tried the same walk, along past the busy pubs, restaurants etc several more times over a 3 day period, during the day and evening, and every time, there were drunks still there and to top it off, most bars and restaurants had staff standing along the narrow riverwalk paths, trying to get you into their respective establishments for food or drink. The city as a whole was awash with homeless drinkers on the streets, some just laying on the side of the footpaths sleeping during the day. As heartless as it might sound but I’m surprised local police didn’t try and move them away from the narrow crowded paths of the Riverwalk as several we walked past were ranting incoherently and looked quite aggressive. Definitely wasn’t the experience that’s portrayed online and most definitely wouldn’t go back.

Always good

By fred5110 |

We always enjoy the River Walk when visiting San Antonio. Wonderful selection of shops and places to eat and drink. Always nice to see the recently graduated Airmen with their families too!

A fantastic way to spend a day or two (or more) at one of San Antonios best places

By Robert Boze |

The River Walk is a MUST DO when in San Antonio. Plan on at least a full day or two. Unbelievably peaceful as you walk along the riverside. Every turn is a new experience with lots of reataurants, pubs , bars and other shops. Take the boat ride as it will give you an overview of where things are at and the driver will give you a bit of history for San Antonio and the River Walk.
Also, the Alamo is just a short block away and easy to combine with one of your days on the River Walk.

Lot's of places to shop and eat

By mnguru1 |

We come from the land of the Mall of America in MN. So we are used to big shopping. If I hadn't, I might have been more impressed. The river walk was interesting- lot's of restaurants and shops but the "river" water was grey and nasty. I felt if you fell in, you'd catch a disease. What is cool is that you can go to Alamo- which is just a couple of blocks to walk. I almost took a tour via the water taxi's, but I'm glad I stuck to walking.

Nice to walk but use caution

Overall it’s a lovely place to walk in San Antonio downtown but it can be busy especially on weekends. There are a plethora of shops, restaurants and bars. It’s a walkway right along the water’s edge and no guardrails. It’s important to watch where you are going and to supervise children.

Because it’s busy and popular, it’s the fastest way to get from A to B but the surface streets are more direct. At night, it’s quite atmospheric and great to walk after the heat of the day. Definitely well worth the visit and it what makes the city famous along with The Alamo.

Busy place, day or night

By JenRed2014 |

The Riverwalk is a very picturesque area with lots of bars and restaurants. It’s great for photos and to enjoy people watching, however it gets very crowded. We had a hard time finding a restaurant with seating available for a party of two…waits ranged from 1 hour to 2.5! My recommendation would be to decide ahead of time where you are eating, and go immediately to your restaurant of choice and get on their list. Then walk the river, see the sights, take some photos, and by the time you are done, maybe you’ll be able to be seated. Also, pay attention to maps with handicap accessible ways to get from/to street level if that is a need of yours. We saw so many people carrying strollers up flights of stairs! Tip: if a restaurant is connected to a hotel, there is often an elevator you can access to get to street level. Also, be aware there are very few railings, so hold on to your kids and don’t get too drunk (or get bumped by anyone else who is!). We enjoyed it the most during breakfast when it was quieter…. However it’s just so much prettier at night.

Nice Stroll & Restaurants

We enjoyed walking along the Riverwalk during our two evenings we stayed in San Antonio. We chose restaurants on our walk (Iron Cactus was a favorite), as well as ice cream. There were several that asked us for money on Sunday morning, but otherwise felt safe with me and my 11-year old daughter.

Dos de Los Muertos Parade Oct, 27, 2023

By lorena f |

I will never attend this parade again; it was very unorganized. We paid $30 a seat for reserved seating. There were a total of 14 members in our family. We walked for 20 minutes to find our seat section. Everywhere we saw they had reserved seating, we would ask the event staff if they knew where our section was but they would look confused and tell us to keep walking because they weren't sure. Then the event said it started at 7:30 pm but to be there early around. 6:30 so we can be seated before the event begins to avoid missing any floats. The parade didn't start until 8:00 pm., and my kids, who are 1, 3, and 5, were getting restless waiting for the parade to start. Finally, when the Dia De Los Muertos Parade began, some of the floats were far in between each other and the entertainers; most of them didn't even have any hype music on and were standing inside the boat waving. I had high expectations for this parade, but I was disappointed in the entertainment area. This Parade was not worth $30 a person, and it was over quickly. Only a few boats passed by—last time we attended this parade.

A must-do in San Antonio

Lovely walks around the river. The main loop is also good to hide a little bit from the summer heat.
We parked further along on the river walk (nothing to see) but allows for cheaper parking option.

One of our Favourite Places in San Antonio

We really enjoy visiting the San Antonio River Walk. It is great to visit, both day and night. There are nice places to eat and relax with some cold, refreshing drinks.

Will go back.

Great place to spend the weekend.
There are many shops. Restaurants and bars.
You can walk around and find other activities like movies, historical routes and more.

Enjoyable, relaxing trip to the Rivrrwalk!

Signage in town to direct you to the RW were scarce. RW was very pretty. Lots of restaurants. Had a dog so couldn’t take most tour. Ate at Casa Perez. Huge portions. We were there in the afternoon. Night lights would have been beautiful.

HAPPINESS IN RIVER WALK (TEXAS)

By Berny C |

What a wonderful destination to visit in Texas and specifically downtown San Antonio. It’s easy to park for free within a 15-minute walk of the city centre to give you time to take a safe and affordable boat ride, watch the shops or have a snack in the many restaurants or bars on site. Enjoy the Maze

By a1963corvette |

There are lots of really neat shops, restaurants, hotels and bars all along the Riverwalk. Further, it offers some of San Antonio's most beautiful scenery. However, the whole thing is like a maze. We were constantly lost. Coming up on to the wrong streets in places we didn't plan and could never seem to get back to places we wanted to check out.

A Must Do in San Antonio

When in San Antonio, it’s the place to go. There are scenic areas, busy areas, lots of restaurants to choose from. It’s also so much cooler than being on the streets.

Decorated and Festive

By Thomas V |

This is ground zero for the tourist experience, and for a good reason: It is very pretty. You can take a long walk along the river, and the walk way captures the water features very well. Along the way are big hotels, a lot of shopping, eating and drinking. But feel free to just walk. Highly decorated and festive.

Fun Vibes!

A must see, but be prepared to walk and spend money at restaurants (aka comfy shoes and cool clothing, and money)! There were only a few shops on the actual Riverwalk (a little disappointing) but a huge mall. There are many restaurants and some historic ones at that! We at appetizers at one restaurant (Iron Cactus) and dinner at another (Casa Rio). We spent the whole day here pretty much; however, we could have spent less time since there weren’t much of wait times for anything since we went during the week on a Wednesday!

Fantastic Stroll

You really cannot believe a walk like this is possible. The way they’ve incorporated the trail, river, and landscaping is amazing. Just wow

Return to the River Walk

By johnblythee |

"I don't want to go to the River Walk!" said no one, ever!!! Delightful city park in the heart of San Antonio (one level below street level) with an abundance of restaurant, shopping, lodging and entertainment options. It is a pleasure to just stroll through and area and experience the festive colors ... trust me, you'll be drawn in. And just a couple of minutes walk from the River Walk is La Villita (a little small, but historic village just off the River Walk). Additionally, the Alamo is only a short 5-6 minute walk.

More for couples, than kids. Fun, lots to eat/drink, walk around.

We have a great time here, love to walk around, feed the ducks, get drinks and food, shop a little. Kids were bored, but we went back alone and it was romantic and fun!

Pleasantly surprised how much there was to do

By Chris B |

We totally under estimated how much there was to do and see around the river. A good majority of the places are restaurants but there were plenty of shops to go in as well. The river walk also linked to some great places at street level so overall we probably spent about half the day in or around the walk.

Pretty pathway along the river

By Alicia K |

What a fun vacation! We stayed in a hotel on the Riverwalk and enjoyed the proximity to restaurants. It was a beautiful path to walk or run (early before things get busy) and a full of all sorts of activity.

Quite walk on the riverside

By Ankur S |

Awesome walk near the river front, my hotel had a backdoor access directly to the riverfront...lots of eateries and small shops. Do not miss the small cruise!

Probably the best river walk till

Visited San Antonio during US visit and enjoyed a lot. Visited many more points but most liked River walk. It’s amazing, it’s combination of Nature & Modern world at best

Better than expected!

By Steven P |

Even prettier than we'd imagined. Pictures can't do this justice. You must experience the sights, sounds, ambience, and culture live and in person! (Get a "Go Rio" Riverboat cruise while there. There is so much to see and do (and eat!) along the riverwalk. In fact, we felt that it's somewhere we could go over and over and see something new each time.

Beautiful River walk

By CountryGal5759 |

So glad a local told us to enter through the hyatt lobby and take the elevator down to the river walk. Very easy walk from the Alamo. Such a relaxing beautiful afternoon and evening. Everything is magical and beautiful. We felt like we were at Disney. So many restaurants to choose from. Relaxing boat ride gives transportation for the day with one ticket price.

Packed

By Mike O |

The section of the River Walk that loops back on itself was jam packed with people at 12:00 pm on the Thursday we visited. Seemingly, every outside restaurant table was occupied, as were the seats on the tourist boats. In contrast, the section of the river we walked on that runs south to the King William neighborhood was absent the crowds; quite pleasant.

Not on my bucket list

By OBH |

A plethora of restaurants, tourists, and dirty river water entwined in San Antonio history. It’s one of those things you do to say you’ve done it.

Boat ride

By ffulan |

The river runs through the middle of the city and there are many bars and restaurants around, on the banks. During the boat passwio you hear about the history and curiosities of the place
