Sandbridge offers a more relaxed beach experience. This is where the locals go for a day at the beach. There aren't a lot of options for dining and beverages, so bring your own.

If you are near boardwalk this place is a little far and since the roads are narrower you might be stuck in traffic.

That apart the beach is great and we preferred this beach over boardwalk. The water was great and sand is soft. The beach itself is clean and there are enough life guards in case of emergency.

All in all we recommend this over boardwalk beach.

We love Sandbridge at this time of the year as there are very few people. We rented a house on the beach and had a wonderful time. The people who helped with the rental could not be better.

Disappointed and Frustrated – Not Worth the Money

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share our experience with this beach house rental in Sandridge, VA through Siebert Realty (The Regency North, 2476 Sandfiddler Road). This property was not as advertised and there was a huge letdown from the moment we arrived.

First and foremost, the house was dirty. Floors covered in sand, porches and outdoor furniture covered with ants and spiders, mold on most of the outdoor decks, windows that could not be seen through they were so dirty and other areas of the house that clearly were not cleaned properly. For the price we paid, we expected a clean and welcoming environment—not something that felt neglected and unkept.

In addition to the cleanliness issues, the house was in poor condition overall. Basic maintenance had clearly been ignored: broken fixtures, malfunctioning appliances, doors to the outside unable to be opened and lights literally hanging from ceilings. It was obvious that upkeep is not a priority for this property. Nothing about this place matched the photos or description on the rental listing.

This rental was overpriced for what it was, and we left feeling disappointed and taken advantage of. I strongly recommend that Siebert Realty inspect and reevaluate this listing—it's not fair to future renters. I would not book here again or recommend it to others.

beach is great. Close to shopping. Golf course is nearby. Difficult to get in and out on Saturday. One way in and out. Traffic jams occur. Should alternate rental times, so all are not Saturday to Saturday.

I came during the off season and was able to bring my dog. Clean and easily social distancing from others.

If you opt to come to Sandbridge for vacation, I would not recommend renting through Sandbridge Blue. My mom rented a house from Sandbridge Blue in June 2019 and discovered at check in that the freezer did not work. Despite making a few calls, the freezer has never fixed for the entire week. And staff didn't even TRY to make it right. No offer to pay for a cooler and ice. When discussing options for compensation, management thought a reduced price on a rental next year was fair. Really? After you have shown yourself to have no ability to fix what was a pretty major issue for my family? No thanks. Stick to the other rental agencies in Sandbridge.

Sandbridge Beach is another excellent beach in Virginia. Great vacation spot for family and friends. Big shoreline and very relaxing

My in-laws rented a large house a block from the ocean to accommodate 16 people-kids ranging from 22 mos to 15. The beach was wonderful. Not crowded at all. Very enjoyable week here. So many dolphins too!

I love Sandbridge Beach. Its a quaint place, not crowded at all and just beautiful. We enjoyed the pier and a quiet walk on the beach, the dunes were awesome.

By TessaHDC |

We lasted 15 min and had to leave. We've stayed in Sandbridge a few times over the years, but couldn't take this day trip. Its more private, but maybe the plant life and wildlife attract more biting flies. We headed back to the strip beach to chill.

Love, love, love Sandbridge. Our family has vacationed there since the early 80's. My has it expanded over the years but a top place to enjoy a family vacation. Everyone you meet is so friendly... The Boardwalk is only a 20 minute drive from Sandbridge. Always something going on.

By arpauly |

Just what I was looking for; a very quiet and unpopulated beach compared to the “real” VA Beach. Sandbridge Grocery is nearby with amenities, though there are no chairs or umbrellas to rent (that I found). Free parking is available if you look for it! 😃

We stayed at Beach Dreams 3364 Sandpiper Rd. By Siebert Realty, not so wonderful, that would get a 1 Star. It didn’t hurt our time at the beach thou.

By Ashley J |

We spent the morning at the main VA beach but wanted something more secluded. It is about 30 min south of the main beaches and hotels but it is totally worth the drive. We were one of about 10 families there. Soft sand, sand dunes and great bathrooms/cleaning stations. Definitely recommend!

My daughter and son-in-law suggested we try this beach, they’d been here before. We arrived prior to 8 am. Parking was easy. We were among the first people here. The first this I noticed was how clean and well-maintained the beach is. There are life guards on duty too. Never felt crowded as this beach is huge! There are restrooms close by too. Would definitely recommend this beach when staying in the VA Beach area.

By ConnieMC-77 |

The beach isn't crowded. It has nice small waves. It was a quick stop for us to just sit and listen to the waves. Nice beach for families.

By onepassionatemother |

While the Virginia Beach boardwalk area has all the amenities, hotels, vendors, restaurants, etc. This beach area is more about condos and houses, spaced out, with just uninterrupted views down the beach. It was cold & windy when we went (in March!) but the views were so beautiful.

By BobM48 |

Wife and daughter researched the house rentals and came up with a great place for the 15 of us. Beach was not crowded. Quiet area, except for locals speeding down narrow roads. We went through Beach Pros real estate. The whole family enjoyed our stay and would go back.

By sahramsey01 |

The beach area was super nice and not crowded, will be back next year.!! The sand is clean and nice to lay on and soft.!!!

Sandbridge Beach is our choice of beaches near us in VA. Our July 4th celebration was fabulous...the weather was perfect the company superb and the day relaxing.

By Kevins2ndMom |

The only reason I gave this property a 2 was because of the location. Windjammer should not be rented out until a complete cleaning is done. We should not have to request cleaners to come back because the place wasn’t cleaned! The furniture on the second level was stained and dirty to the point we requested sheets to cover the couch. The rugs should be shampooed. On the third level there were crumbs all over the counters. A vacuum left in the middle of the floor. The dining table was sticky to the point that napkins and paper plates stuck to it. The bannister going down from the third to second level had crud down it, you could take your finger nail and scrap off the dirt and grime,. The final straw was the elevator was broken for 5 days with someone coming in late day causing someone to have to be at the house. Sandbridge blue was not sympathetic to us. We requested someone to view the property and we were met with denial and disbelief. But they would not visit to see their cleaning crew are not doing their job. Again don't rent Windjammer from Sandbridge blue!

We stayed at a condo at Sandbridge for New Years. It was very peaceful and a great place to get away for a few days. The beach was very well kept and clean. It was a very relaxing place.

By Tara Heagele |

Been coming to Sandbridge for 1-2 weeks every summer for 30+ years. That should tell you enough about my 5-star review. The beaches are clean, beautiful, and chock full of stunning critters - i.e., dolphins, fish, crabs, all sorts of sea birds (gulls, willets, sandpipers, pelicans), dragon flies, etc. There are multiple beach access points. Most of the beaches in Sandbridge don't have lifeguards, but the two main ones do - the one at the end of Sandbridge Road and the one by the condos on the south end. That beings said, lifeguards and EMS patrol the beach on ATVs, so they pass by all beaches frequently. You can usually see your feet and seashells if the water isn't churned up from an offshore storm. As we are near the military bases of VA Beach, you often see fighter jets and military helicopters training. The sunrises are amazing!

By Marlene S |

Great beach! Clean. Families and dog friendly. No out of control dogs anywhere! Mostly families! Some great beach shops for last minute accessories.

By Lynn S |

Extremely disappointed with this company. The house was falsely advertised and very different from the pictures. When we arrived the home was very dirty, mold in the showers, a 12 x 12 hole in the ceiling exposing wiring (they stated it was a broken pipe a week earlier but why was it not covered?) a large hole in the deck flooring that my nephew stepped in, furniture damaged, carpet ripped and coming up, the interior pool room had 3-4 inches of dirt and debris in the window sills that they wouldn't close, the deck railing was rotted and not attached. The list goes on and on. When I called Siebert upon check in about multiple issues, I was told we should be grateful because many homes around us were paying more than us. They did sent someone to fix the deck hole after 3 days but only because I stated someone had fallen and they were going to have a lawsuit. We will never use this rental company again! Stay away.

Sandbridge Blue Property Rentals cares nothing about their customers. We paid $6.6k for an off-peak property in September. That property did not live up to expectations. You would expect that the house would be clean and guest-ready. Not so.
▪️First of all it was dirty; sand was everywhere; icing on the chairs; crumbs were on the tables, kitchen counters and island. Nobody cleaned up after an 8-year-old’s party (we found a banner stating such.) The kitchen had not been wiped down; the bannister had a sticky substance thereon; a vacuum cleaner was left in the middle of the floor indicating someone started to clean. We called the rental agency (who’s office was closed) and left a message. They subsequently sent out housekeepers who spent a couple of hours cleaning.
▪️Also on day 1, the hot water was not working correctly, the pool was not prepared, a towel rack on the floor of one bathroom, the toilet seat broken in another, and a toilet not working in a third. More messages to the rental office. They would schedule repairman to come out and not advise us if such. (this was a vacation of women only, so this was not a safe position to take) We had to keep calling back to see if anything was going to be done. When finally got Kathy on the phone to list our issues and voice out disappointment, she immediately took offense. Saying we offended her and her cleaning people by our complaints?!
The middle floor furniture was putrid. Something you would find in a frat house after an all-night party. It was so bad that we requested sheets to cover it so we could sit on it.
▪️And lastly, the elevator did not work for 5 of the 7 days we were there. We had an elderly guest who could not negotiate the house and had to stay up on one floor for 5 days! Their answer? Here’s $200 (put of $6,600) for your inconvenience. How did they come up with that number? It’s the difference between a house with an elevator and one without. (questionable). We relied on an elevator for our health, not convenience. Oh and they’ll give us a $200 credit on another rental. (Like we’d ever use them again.)
Sandbridge Blue has no customer service. They could not have cared less. No one ever reached out to see if everything had been taken care of. They got our money. So they’re telling us “live with it.”

We rented a house on the beach that had a pool. The ocean water was cool as we were there the last week of May 2018 - but the pool water was plenty warm enough to swim in without being heated. It was a great week of beautiful sunrises and sunsets!
We had an amazing family vacation.

By Jennifer R |

Nice beaches with very attentive life guards. Not many restaurants. Not many things to do right on the island. But a very nice place for families. We are 3 generations who have gone the last 5-6 years.

By Kathy V |

We came upon Sandbridge by mistake and what a great place. Being from a vacation town in Michigan along the Lake Michigan shore, this was so much like home. We hung out on the beach, drove along the coast and got information on rental properties, and of course did a little shopping.

By Jeanie W |

I used to go here every spring, anywhere from one week to three months. Fortunately, it was only about an hour's drive from my work in downtown Norfolk, VA. We rented oceanfront. It was so much fun, watching the beach come more alive each week.

Beautifil beach, quiet We had five families in our party and tented a large house on Sandfiddler. Beach was a short walk away. Very clean and not crowded.

We traveled from Alabama for our grandsons birthday and my daughter and him live on this beach. My wife and I walked this beautiful clean beach and were amazed how nice it is.

If you just want to chill on the beach without all the tourist attractions, this is a nice beach for just that.

The Regency -2816 Sandfiddler Road

For the past 15 years, my family and I have been traveled to Sandbridge Beach for our annual multi-generational vacation. This year the attendee ages ranged from 6 weeks to 70 years and was the second consecutive year that I rented The Regency. Every year, we always have a great time, but this year, staying at The Regency, everything was PERFECT. Upon arrival we found the home to be immaculate. Do not get me wrong, all of the homes are clean and maintained, but with a guest turnaround of 6 hrs. top, to clean a massive 12-bedroom event home, things are sometime overlooked. This year the cleaning was exceptional. The home was also well stocked, with everything you would need, from pots, pans, dishes, coffee makers, ice machine, blenders, even a waffle maker. With its wide-open spaces, The Regency is very welcoming. There is room for all to spread out and enjoy without feeling crowded. The furnishings are very tasteful and comfortable. We experienced beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and this year the dolphins were in rare form, giving us a show almost every day. Hats off to the new management of vacasa. I was wary that the property management, transitioning from a local company, to a large international enterprise, but vacasa property management did not disappoint, except for a price increase of 40-60% depending on property of rental . The one recommendation I would have would be that they need to upgrade the linen service. In past years the sheets, towels were of higher quality. The sheets and towels are at the point they are becoming thin, threadbare, and it’s time that the linen company being used, should replace. Sandbridge Beach, it’s the hidden Gem!

By befreetravel |

Best beach on the east coast. This hideaway Virginia's outer coast is host to the most beautiful, expansive beaches. Clean, easy to access. Dolphin pods travel throughout the day. Great for dolphin and pelican watching. Clean (no trash). Sandy beach with little to no shells, rocks, etc. The best experience ever with children at the beach. No drop offs and lifeguards on duty in the public areas.

By Sydel5 |

not your average beach. very natural. Tours offered through Virginia parks. Take snacks, dress warmly. Walk carefully

By Stacy M |

I have been coming to Sandbridge for over 16 years..I LOVE Sandbridge. My review is for the house we stayed in Casa Do Lago and for Vacasa who just bought Sandbridge realty. The house was horrible! It wasn’t cleaned, the prior occupants dirty linens were still on the beds, their towels on the floor, toothpaste in sink..just horrible. All the pool sticks were broken, pool liner was pulling away from the sides, poison ivy everywhere and the fence was broken, making it unsafe for our toddler. There was so much more. It was obvious the management company and owners did not keep up the maintenance. It was a shame because the house could be nice. It was not worth the money we spent for the week…Stay away from the house and Vacasa, if you can help it.

good spot to surf when there is actual waves. outside of that decent place to relax. parking is an issue at times but that comes with beaches.

By nanadeane4 |

Family environment, away from the tourist, locals value this hidden treasure. Clean beaches, peaceful surroundings, family friendly, but some areas for privacy for couples, great place to just sit and enjoy nature

By Ed C |

Our Family has an annual week at the beach and this year it was at Sandbridge. While the beach was nice and not crowded, with all the traffic it can be a very slow trip to get anything. Fortunately there are a large number of establishments available at the closest shopping area (Princess Anne Rd and Sandbridge Rd)

By Shane h |

Amazing place to vacation.
Will definitely come again!
The beach is peaceful and the bay next to it are well worth the time & views.

By maughnm |

We stayed at the Royal Shell, rented by Sandbridge Realty. This luxury home, which is right on the beach, is a page out of lifestyle of the rich and famous, with sleeping for 30, an indoor theatre, arcade, elevator and outdoor pool and sauna. Morning views over the beach were quite a treat with pods of dolphins frolicking in the ocean. The beach itself was very quiet, very clean (ideal for barefoot walking), not overcrowded and perfect any time of the day.

By GreenInk |

We've been to Sandbridge 3 times over the past 4 years, always mid to late September. A great time to go! We rented a place through Siebert Realty and had great experiences with them. Cottage was clean and very well appointed. Even in mid September the ocean temps were great!

By MaryAnne Z |

The owner must be a slum lord. When you pay 11,000.00 for the week you expect better then this. Siebert Reality offered a credit of $250 to come back. The owner however offered nothing . The blinds in each room were broken along with the furniture . The fridge and stove needed a good cleaning . Our group cleaned the house to make it live able and cleaned it when we left. Such a disgrace to the owner and to the realty company for not making sure the homes for that kind of money were in better condition . Same on both of them . When you got dressed you had to dress in the bathroom so that the neighbors didn’t see you dressing. We had small children with us and was scared they would get a disease from the filth . If I could give both of them a minus 10 I would. Shame shame. It has really turned our group off from wanting to go back to Sandbridge.

We are locals and love taking our family and friend here when they visit. Great parking, wide clean beach.

By kevintH2727FM |

Stopped in after giving up on finding affordable parking at Virginia Beach, and found a new favorite beach for the kids.. parking was reasonable and an easy walk to the beach. The beach was not crowded, and was manned by lifeguards until 6pm. We were even pleasantly surprised to see a pod of dolphins swimming by as we walked up to the beach.

By Maxim D |

I am so happy to have found this beach. We came here on a weekend where they had a concert on the main strip of the beach. The sand is clean, the water is somewhat clear and blue. Weather was great. You pay $5 for parking for the day. There were bathrooms and lifeguards which was cool. It is about a 20-25 min ride from downtown VA beach. Definitely recommend.

Just spent one week in a large Beachfront home in Sandbridge with family. We've been coming here on and off for about 15 years after originally doing our family vacations in hotels of Virginia Beach. I must say that Sandbridge beach is still as gorgeous and peaceful and fun as our very first visit years ago. The weather was perfect every day, the ocean waters were warm and not rough, the beach was clean and not crowded at all. Lots of space to spread out comfortably and relax or play games. The most gorgeous sunrises in the mornings. bright full moon in the evenings over the shimmering waters. Soothing sounds of waves crashing. Close to restaurants and just 20 mins from the city amusements for the kids. I can't think of a better place for a family vacation. Looking forward to going back many more times in the years to come.

SP3629-Down South

Everyone in our family group of 16 enjoyed this property, so much so that we arranged to come back next year too. Being on the bayside was a different experience for us, as we have rented on the beach side for more than 10 years. We really like the atmosphere of the bay side. What we also liked was the size and roominess of Down South (except the bathrooms, which are small). The kitchen was well stocked.

As for improvements, the ice machine in the kitchen refrigerator was slow to make ice., and there was a nail sticking up on the inside steps between the first and second floors. Thanks for the use of the hammer. However, the main safety improvement that should be done is to the front deck on the second floor. The deck has one step to a lower level and it is not obvious to someone new. Four people in our party almost fell by missing the step. The last board of the top level should be stained a different color to call your attention to the step. We put a piece of silver tape on that board, but it did not stick due to the rain.

Do not stay at Top of the Tide Penthouse. Seibert Realty did nothing to help us. We were disgusted.

By BILL P |

We currently stayed at the Villamare rental at Sandbridge (Virginia Beach) Virginia. This rental property, itself, was very nice and, in its earlier days, this property was probably a prime real estate rental. This home, however, has seen some abuse and has some areas that need immediate attention. We called maintenance, upon arrival, because the doors to the deck had inside door handles that came completely off of the door fixture making the doors less than secure. One of the doors needs to have the set screw drilled out and replaced with a new one (since it was stripped) in order to tighten the handle in place and make it work as intended. The shower fixture, in the main second floor bath had very visible black residue and black particles on the shower head itself. When you rubbed it with your hand, your hand was also black. It was not in a sanitary condition. We did not use that fixture but used the side shower unit fixture instead. This fixture should be replaced. The floors need to be completely cleaned (not just vacuumed) because, when you walked around the house, your feet, or a pair of socks, were black from the residue that has collected from the floors in just an evening. Because of rental abuse, the beautiful pool table had bumpers where the felt cover was completely torn away. The picture, online, of the outdoor grill, showed it to be new and beautiful. In fact, the outside of the grill was very rusty and the interior of the grill was completely rusted. I know that this is a beach property, with salt water in the air, but a cover would help a little and the grill, most probably, needs to be replaced. The furniture was fine, the location is great and the property is very nice overall but it is not worth the money that one would spend for a rental property that was once featured on the cover of a "visit Virginia" magazine. There were other minor issues but every beach rental property would have the same issues. However, as already stated, this property was not worth the price that we paid. It is still a very good property but please bring this property up to its potential to correspond to its rental price.

The beach is huge. We visited on a number of days in early August - peak vacation season. There was always plenty of space and privacy on the beach. Big waves make the ocean fun. The beach is not developed so it is a good place for people who can amuse themselves.

By Lesa M |

Had a great time at Sandbridge beach with my family. There was less people on the beach and in the water, so it made it easier to find a place and enjoy the water. We hunted for sea shells on the beach and in the water. What a great day at the beach.

By ttsctravelers |

Beautiful sand as far as you can see. Parking us $5 and if you get to the pier beach early afternoon you can pick out a great shady spot under the pier. The waves are the right size to have fun and the bottom us sandy with no debris. Great afternoon at the beach

By diadorasoccer21 |

This beach is great! Went here 3 times on vacation! Free parking after 5pm, lifeguards on duty till 6...across the street from a fire station and parking is in a seaside market parking lot. Store is well stocked (no pubic bathrooms at store, located around back). Beach is not busy on weekdays.

By coughlindoc |

We love Sandbridge we have been going here for the past ten years It’s a great beach with a lot of stuff to do around it

By Becky V |

It was quieter than by the boardwalk easier to get a spot on the beach. I don’t think it had a TON of parking but that was ok

By Liz K |

We took a side trip from Virginia Beach to Little Island Park. We found great waves for skim boarding!

By CGTeach |

Sandbridge is the perfect family beach! We have stayed varying distances from the beach. Oceanfront is fabulous! Our favorite is on the canal. It's not a long walk to the beach. We take bicycles and kayaks. It's perfect for the kids to ride bicycles and for longer excursions as a family. We love to drop kayaks in the water on the canals and just paddle for hours. There are small restaurants north and south. Both have delicious food. We like to meal prep our side dishes to go with any fresh fish/seafood that we can get locally. There are a few places nearby. Walmart is a short distance too for grocery pick-up. Overall, this is where we are making family vacation memories with our kids, ages 12 & 13. (They have been to Florida and Caribbean; they will tell you this is their favorite.)

By Billkolovani |

Sandbridge is kind of like the beach from when I was a kid (I am a serious adult now). Clean, no trash, nice people, family friendly and well life-guarded!

By William G |

Our family has been going to this beach since 1976 since our kids were young. This is a wide, sandy beach between the dunes and sea. The pier bisects the
Beach with swimmers on the right & surfers on the left. Surf casting is further down to the right next to the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The tidal range is about 3 ft. There is a sandbar as far out as the end of the pier reachable at low tide. Swimmers should stay a minimum of 200 ft from the pier as posted. WARNING: There a rip current on the right side of the
Pier on an incoming tide. Lifeguards are present during the summer. There is a $5 admission charge per vehicle. There are bathhouses, a playground and picnic shelters with grills.

If you are looking for kitschy beach shops, high rises, people everywhere and some amount of traffic stop reading now and stay in Virginia Beach proper. If you want to stay in a single-family house with access to beaches that allow you to spread out this is your kind of place.

Our home away from home for the week was a massive single-family .2 miles from a beach access point. The house was great and gave our family of 22 people, plenty of room to move around and not get on each other's nerves. One bit of caution for picking a house. Our house was located on Little Island, which meant we had to cross Sandpiper (the main road that runs the length of Sandbridge). The main road wasn't always busy, but from time to time, a car would come by pretty fast and with little kids anxious to get to the beach, a problem could happen. I walked back and forth between this house and the beach at least 50 times, and although I had to wait for car a few times, most of the time the road was free and clear and easy to cross. Not a big deal but something to consider.

The fact that Sandbridge is almost exclusively single-family homes helps to eliminate the feeling of overcrowding. Every day at the beach we got a great spot, and we weren't right on top of other beachgoers. There is plenty of beach access, but if you want facilities, you need to go to the southern end of the beach to Little Island Park. The park has a fishing pier, tennis courts, playgrounds, and plenty of parking. If you aren't staying in a house near the beach, this is a great option.

The surf was perfect for our range of children, 7-17. The youngest in our group could easily play in the water without getting beat around. Of all our beach vacations, this was the most our kids got in the water. The surf was perfect for boogie boarding. If you are into shells, this isn't the best beach, but we did find some nice ones.

If you are planning to rent or bring bikes, all I can say is this isn't the most bike-friendly beach I've ever been too. We stayed about midway down the beach, so the restaurants to the north were about a 1.9-mile ride, and the restaurant and park to the south were about a 1-mile ride. Everything is flat, but the main road is not an option for young riders. The other north-south route (Sandfiddler) is a much better option, but it doesn't have a designated bike lane. The people driving on this road were much more aware of the runners, walkers, and bikers and passed them when possible.

Although Sandbridge doesn't have a ton of shops, restaurants and markets you are only about 10 minutes from major grocery stores, restaurants and shops. There was also a golf course close by and at least three fresh seafood places on the way to the beach.

From our house, the Virginia Beach boardwalk was about a 20-25 minute drive. I would recommend going for a day, but after spending an afternoon on the boardwalk, I was happy to get back to peace and serenity of Sandbridge.

By arubagirl225 |

This is by far our happy place! We love that it is family oriented, clean, friendly, and safe for our kiddos.

By ShimmiesMom |

We have rented various houses here for years. We rented When East Meets West for the third time. A lot of mold under the kitchen sink. Window a/c’s. This house has central air. Why the window units? Place is rundown. Vents have so much dust/hair. I will seriously reconsider renting with them again.

By amye73 |

Really is the best place in the world!! Beaches are safe and easy to access. Parking at Little Island makes getting to the beach easier. There are bathrooms and showers to use, too.

By Michael J |

We went to Sand Bridge on the recommendation of a friend who lived in Virginia Beach. We had a great time. The beach is beautiful and the parking is free along the streets on the south end. Our teenage boys loved it and asked to go back the next day.

By thethymesav0r |

This beach reminds us of TOPSAIL NC except its even more quiet! Big sprawling beach, no high rises, grocery stores and all you need are only a 20 minute drive away.

By darlenejay |

Went the week before labor day. The beach was quiet and clean. Well-marked entrances to beach and ramps for carts.

By Gwen W |

Overall disappointed in the maintenance and cleanliness of the inside of the home especially the lower level and the outdoor spaces. These are just a few of the photos from our stay.

By Martha W |

Sandbridge is in the Virginia Beach zip code but is 25 minutes south of the boardwalk and other activities. The community is a residential area, with a couple of restaurants, a small market, and some shops. Ideal for a quiet vacation. Virginia Beach for summer activities is very close by. Rentals on semi-ocean front are great; they are across the street and one house from the ocean. Most have ocean view. beware of rental agency you choose. We were disappointed with the house we rented and the service from the agency, Seibert Realty. I have given them nearly a week to respond to my feedback.

By Nancy M |

Great place! Nice homes (we rented) ours had a nice pool and a quick walk to the beach. Away from the more tourist Area of Virginia Beach but close enough that if you need it... easy Uber try it, you’ll like it

By wanderlust |

The beach itself?

Clean and the waves are simply gorgeous... the sand is soft and lovely. The view out over the water is perfect.

Some amenities nearby including washrooms

But I would never visit in summer again. It's a super residential area so parking options suck and there was a ton of traffic to get there. There is practically no shade anywhere and the temperature almost made us sick.

I'll come again in the off-season and hopefully beat all the crowds and the heat.

Sandbridge beach is a public stretch of beach located about 30-40 minutes outside of Virginia Beach. There are lifeguards on duty during certain times of the day and season. Sandbridge Beach does not have the activity or hustle bustle of Virginia Beach Boardwalk, but is perfect for a quiet, relaxing, family beach day of fun in the sun. There are condos or single-family homes available for rental, or you can just drive down for the day, park and enjoy. The beach, water and sand, are very clean and depending on the time of day, you may just see a school of dolphins swimming and frolicking close to shore. This beach is perfect for a family getaway. The secret is out, so go and enjoy!

If you’re looking for a quieter, more family friendly alternative to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, this is your place. Sandbridge is much less commercialized than the oceanfront. With the exception of a few small restaurants, ice cream shops and a grocery store, Sandbridge is almost entirely beach cottages and single family homes. If you want to go clubbing or bar hopping with your college friends, head to the Oceanfront. If you want a quiet, family friendly environment, stay here.

As a local, we have benn coming here for decades. Great for a vacation spot. Recommend to make it mutifamily since then you can get a nice home near the beach, which is not cheap. Best thing to do is buy one, reap the benefits of owning it as well as having the luxury of going when you want.

My family has been going to our beach house at Sandbridge for 38 years at various times all summer and occasionally in the fall.. It is the ultimate uncrowded, family friendly beach. Beach time now includes relaxing play in the waves and sand digging time with my three young granddaughters. A crowded day at the beach may mean there are three families camped out for the day in front of our house, and that might even be extent of the crowd on the Fourth of July. Basically for most of the beach 🏖 you have your own private haven.
Sandbridge is only a quick 20 minute or so drive to a shopping and restaurant neighborhood area. Multiple typical oceanfront beach activities are also within close proximity in the beachfront of Virginia Beach. This makes for a quiet and relaxing beach house stay close to the beachfront action but without the hustle of crowds and a busy beach. Another plus is the fact that renting a beach house often ends up being much more economical for accommodations than multiple hotel rooms, as well as the ability to prepare some of your own meals and snack time.
I love ❤️ this beach and can’t wait for my lounge chair time on an oceanfront deck again this summer.

Love going to Sandbridge Beach. It's beautiful, big, family friendly and great way to enjoy Virginia Beach without the hassle of the oceanfront. Really fun to pick up food from The Market and just stay in the evening for a picnic like meal.

South Virginia Beach or Virginia’s Outer Banks, regardless of what you call it Sandbridge Beach is everything you could possibly want in a pure, undiluted, uncrowded, non-commercialized beach. A clean slightly slopping tan sand beach approximately 5 miles long and 100+ feet deep, if you don’t count the totally deserted Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. Just to the south of Sandbridge beach wider and many times longer makes the two an endless ribbon of sand bordered by gently lapping waves from the nearly straight stretch of the bay. Back Bay Refuge and False cap Park combine to make a stretch to the south that creates an impenetrable barrier between Virginia and The Outer Banks of West Virginia. In fact, Sandbridge Beach is hemmed in on all 4 sides with one 6-mile road that is the only access to the area.

Lifeguards patrol Sandbridge Beach on ATVs and are stationed at regular intervals in the more densely used areas that includes public parking. A fee is charge to park at the deli to the north on Sanfiddler Road and at Little Island Park to the south. Otherwise the stretch that lies outside of what vacationers call the public areas is used by vacationing renters or weekend locals with home in the beach area. Parking isn’t allowed on most of Sandbridge’s roads making those areas of the beach sparsely populated and more enjoyable. There’s room to play catch and build sand castles as large as you’d like or just relax knowing that no one will intrude on your space. In fact, whatever you’d like on the beach be sure to take with you. There are no facilities except at Little Island Park, no vendors and no shade just sand and ocean. The sun heated sand is loosely packed and hot during the summer days. A laid-back leisurely attitude prevails all day long and the evening the area seems deserted in favor of family time or ghost carb hunting.

If you a renter like we were you get the feeling of exclusivity on Sandbridge Beach. Large homes line both sides of the main road that have frequent access past the dunes to the beach. Renting here affords you a family friendly atmosphere, devoid of stores, vendors that clutter many costal vacation areas. A few major rental companies do a good job controlling the influx of outsiders that rent the above average priced homes in Sandbridge. Many of the homes eclipse the description beach cottages with between 8 and 14 bedrooms and room for up to fifty. Yet most of the homes are single family dwellings that are year around residents, owner occupied cottages or weekend day trippers from the local Virginia Area.

If you’re looking for a quiet beach vacation with all the amenities of Virginia Beach’s Boardwalk just 20 minutes away Sandbridge can’t be beat. The family friendly atmosphere and natural surroundings make it a top vacation destination.

We left for the beach on Friday. It was raining the entire time we were driving and it was beautiful once we got to the beach. It was a lot of fun! My friend Chris went into the ocean with me and I swam back. Very fun!

We love Sandbridge Beach. It is very close to our kids' home. At this time of year there is free parking. A convenience store is close at hand. The beach is clean.

This time was just a quick visit, but the house we stayed in before was available and they allow pets. So if we do this again it would be worth the stay.
The beach is wonderful and not far away from Va Beach boardwalk

A very nice beach to get away from the crowd. Sand is wonderful and reminds you of the outer banks. Take your camera. Lots of camera ops.

Awesome bath house and park. It's away from everyone and has a nice beach. Great for picnics, events, and day trips. Please don't tell anyone as I do not want to share this gem.

Great place to get away from the mainstream commercialize VA Bch and have a more quite and relaxing experience of the "good-life" while still within a 20 minute drive of everything!

Sandbridge Beach is amazing! I have been to many beaches in my life (Nags Head, NC/ Emerald Isle/NC, Myrtle Beach/SC, Surfside Beach/SC, VA Beach Oceanfront/VA, and Daytona Beach /FL....but Sandbridge tops them all! So peaceful and quiet, yet so many places to shop, eat, and play. The little island park was so great...Clean and family friendly! This is our new go to beach destination!

By AlaskaHughes |

a wonderful relaxing private beach. If you're looking to book for a family vacation- or even just a romantic getaway this is the way to do it. since it's further from the open public beach access you won't have to fight for your own space on the beach. For best results- avoid the weekends, as this is when most tourists arrive.

We rented "Endless Summer" for a week in August 2019 for nearly $4800 (once all the fees/taxes were included.) While technically a waterfront home, you could not see the beach from any room in the house! The only thing you could see was the back of the dunes. This property is OLD! With the exception of the new pool deck, it does not look like there have been any improvements to this house since the 70s.

All the ceiling fans are powered by exposed NM wire stapled to the ceiling (code violation.) The air hockey table is not usable, since it has a huge crack in it (and had a nice layer of sand on it.)

I've seen Scout camps with better bathrooms! The bath cabinets looked like they were hammered together from rough 1x6 lumber. The shower walls had stains/mildew in the grout. In general, the fixtures looked like they were retrieved from the local dump after somebody else threw them away.

The A/C return grill & filter were just disgusting!

I realize this is a resort rental property (wear/tear, blah, blah, blah), but if a customer is spending nearly $800 per night, you shouldn't feel like you need to burn your belongings when you leave. Just think of how nice a waterfront hotel room you could get for $800/night (and you'd probably get a free breakfast too)!

Endless Summer requires major renovations to justify the exorbitant rental cost. Shame on both Siebert and the owners for renting this dump at such prices.

By karenr2009 |

Beach was great but a disgustingly dirty (and I mean disgusting) and UNSAFE house. The lights in the entire house started cycling between light, dim and off at different intervals - obvious an electrical problem. Ok - at least the smoke alarms will alert of of any issues - WRONG!!! None of them were working. We packed up and left the next morning. When questioned Siebert Realty said smoke alarms are not required on beach rentals (Wrong). Thay also refused to compensate us for the two nights even though their person manning nightime emergency number said we would.

Didn't think to check reviews as I have never had an issue renting beach property before. Looked at Yelp and apparently my experience is the norm not the exception. OMG - stay away - stay FARRRRRR away from Siebert Realty.

Wow!Spent a quiet week at this tropical themed condo. Super clean and great kitchen with everything I needed. Beautiful inside with comfy bed and couch, two bedrooms, big enough for a family. One block from a gorgeous beach. Also has a pool and assigned parking so I always had a spot. Nice outdoor covered deck to sip drinks and enjoy the breeze. Great seafood restaurant,Margie and Ray's short drive. Loved my week there and can't wait to go back. Spotless and pristine. 5 star at very reasonable rates

By Charlesvincent A |

I love going to the local beaches when I'm in town. I don't go to the va beach boardwalk anymore because it gets crowded and more expensive to just relax and enjoy the beach.

Great place to bring the kids and whole family

We stayed at a near by condo and were pleasantly surprised by how nice the beach is compared to Virginia Beach up north. Not too crowded and very clean. Plus we saw dolphins all week. Just perfect!

Nice beach if you rather not the crowds of Virginia Beach. Not a lot to do but enjoy the sun and sand and waves.

Thank-you to the owners of Regency South for opening up this beautiful home and allowing so many families to create so many memories. This was our 15th year and we have stayed in many homes, including The Regency, The Regency North, Aria, and others, but none compare to The Regency South. It is so evident that the owners take care and pride in this property. We wanted for nothing and everything was pristine for our arrival. It's the first time ever that we DID NOT have to contact the realty company for any maintenance items or repairs. The owners did their own personal walk through with us on our arrival and explained how everything operated. They also provided a wonderful welcome gift and thanked us for choosing their home. Just taking the time to prepare a binder book with all information on how to operate the theatre room, lights, pool fountains , etc. showed that they wished to make their guests visit relaxing and easy. If you have an EV they have a charger provided for your convenience as well as a golf cart charger in the event you choose to rent one. Check-in was easy with Siebert's Keyless app system. The app provided all information regarding check-in, garbage/recycle schedule, propane replacement, maintenance and housekeeping, and of course, when ready, check-out. So much better than having to stop at the realty office before check-in along with all of the other renters. Kudo's for that ! We are fortunate enough this year to have rented The Regency South for Thanksgiving as well. I look forward to our visit with members up to 4 generations in attendance. Family, Turkey, Football, and Sandbridge in the Fall, who could ask for more. We will try to always rent Regency South when we can, but it is a hot commodity that often rents fast, The Regency South, is not a rental house; it is a home. I look forward to our next stay

By Christopher K |

0/10. Do not recommend. Stay away from Siebert Realty and the house ‘No Bayside Comparison’.

We were never sent the code like they said to enter the house and so we went to their office and they didn’t have it either so finally after waiting all day at 4pm we just went to the house and all the doors were left unlocked.

The view is the only thing this house has going for it. All these pictures were taken as soon as we entered the house. The house was filthy, run down, and in desperate need of updating.

There were dead bugs and cobwebs everywhere… on the side of the house, deck, windows, screens, etc. Broken, dirty deck chairs tossed everywhere. They park a giant rusty truck next to the house that advertises a nail salon they must also own. On the other side of the house there was a broken basketball net, knocked over tent and broken grills. In the pool area, there were clumps of hair and hair ties left around the pool.

The couch was broken, you can barely open the kitchen cabinets. The microwave in the kitchen would randomly stop working then work again, items in certain spots of the fridge would freeze, the broom was broken with no handle, bathtubs that wouldn’t drain. We tried using the grill one night and it ran out of gas midway through cooking and the ‘spare’ tank also empty.

In the room I stayed in there was a pool of water on the bathroom sink from a leaky faucet, a child’s binky and toy, ping pong ball, and empty shoe box left on the floor.

There was also a major bug problem. We had ants in the closet and on the back deck, spiders on the walls and one even in the sheets of a bed.

The ironic thing is that the owners have signs everywhere with strict instructions and rules on everything. One sign said they count every dish and utensil in between each renter and if any are missing it could lead to police prosecution. Instead of counting their mismatched silverware and bent and scratched plates, they should clean and update their house!

Want to go to less inhabited summer retreat...check out Sandbrige, Choices are simple to luxury condos, This is what beach living should be. There are private beach houses with your own beach, bay or ocean, or somewhere in between. Love the less congested life style. Close to travel to fun activities for the whole family, or romantic get a way. Whatever you chose, you cannot miss memories to enjoy for a lifetime.

This beach is a nice public beach. Only downside is that there's no sidewalk to get to the beach from your beach house. The main street is very busy with a speed limit of 35 miles per hour and pedestrian traffic do not have the right of way due to no crosswalks or sidewalks. The beach itself is very clean.

By natalie60_11 |

Here is the almost endless list of problems with this property.....
Windows can't be opened because cranks are missing
Badly torn/ripped screens on screened porch. Screen porch misrepresented in pictures; table gone & replaced with 2 dirty wicker chairs & 7 tables.
LR misrepresented in photos. Tiled TV corner gone; replaced with drywall & mismatched flooring; 1" gap between old & new flooring. Couch replaced with 2 dirty, sagging chairs. Table lamps unable to be used because no outlet close to them.
Broken burner on stove; non-working icemaker & bathroom fans
Musty, damp basement bedroom & bath; broken dresser drawer, toilet that won't stop running. Futon replaced with 2nd bunk bed; no place for kids to sit & play video games; kept moving dining chairs up & down stairs.
No room door locks work; 1 bathroom has old hook & eye lock that still didn't stay locked
Ping pong table can't used, it is sitting behind excess furniture stored in garage
Pool light not working
Hole on inside wall of 1 bathtub
Blinds with broken slats, missing openers & cords so blinds could not be opened or raised/lowered
The pool & the gas grill in very nice condition.

My husband & I have rented many properties & had some "lemons" but this place is by far the worst! We shared this with my older son & his family of 5 who are only able to vacation every other year so this was extremely disappointing to them. In my opinion this property should be deeply discounted or not rented at all until repairs are made.

We stayed at The Sanctuary at False Cape in Sandbridge Beach the first week of October 2022. We stayed in Building B, unit 309. Regarding the unit, quite simply, the "good"'was great and the "bad" was easy to overlook. It's a lovely three bedroom condo. It's very spacious with picturesque views of the ocean from two outdoor decks. There were five of us and the unit had everything that was promised (wifi, dishes, utensils, linens, appliances, etc.) Upon arrival, unit was clean inside and we were quite surprised by the size. Beds were comfortable. We all slept well.

As any homeowner knows, there are always upgrades that could be done. This condo certainly had a few things that needed repaired or replacing but that said, there was nothing that distracted from my families joy and time together. I did notify Vacasa of a few things that were damaged, that I didn't want to be liable for. They were extremely responsive, reassuring, and courteous.

We prefer the dining, amenities, accessibility, and overall vibe of the tourist district of VA Beach so we probably won't stay in Sandbridge again but if we do, we would certainly consider using Vacasa and staying at The Sanctuary. And if the beach is your priority over everything else, Sandbridge is for you!

Very Disappointing!!! We just came back from vacationing at Sandbridge, Virginia Beach and we used Seibert Realty. We found the house on their website. It was called Atlantic Paradise. The house looked spectacular on their website.
We had to pay in full before we got there. That should have been our first red flag. We were three families and we totaled 13 people. When we first got there you can clearly see the house has been neglected. This was one of their bigger homes and we paid top dollar for it so we expected it to be in great shape. The deck around the pool was all rotted and broken. Under the deck there were three greasy and disgusting grills with patio furniture just thrown all under there and then we get to the outdoor pool. It was filled with algae... about one foot high all around the deep end of the pool. In addition, the hot tub was filled with sand and the indoor pool as well. Who cleaned this home? We immediately called Seibert and they told us they would send someone out to clean the pool. We got there on Saturday and they did not come to clean the pool until Monday afternoon. So almost three days not able to swim in the pool.
Aside from that there were many other items that we found in the house such has two ovens that did not work, the lighting outside not working, two bathrooms not working properly and the list goes on and on. We had to speak to a manager at this point. We called again and spoke with Kat, the Vice President of Operations and told her all the issues. We asked her to come to the house so she could see for herself and she said that would not be necessary. She did tell us that because we were unable to use the pool that we would be compensated 20 percent of the daily rate, which made us feel a little better since we did pay so much money for the house however, once our stay was over, everything changed. When we called to follow up she said that the pool vendor had pictures of the pool and is was swimmable. First, the pool was distguisting. When you see algae over a foot high alongside the pool, would you swim in it? I have a pool and when there is algae, it needs to be removed and shocked and second when we expressed our concerns about the pool having algae, no one told us that the pool was swimmable!!! We could not believe what we were hearing. It now seemed obvious to us that Seibert runs a very shady operation over there. They did not compensate us for any of the things that were wrong in the house. They did not care. Also, one of the people we spoke at Seibert said the owner of the property never gives back any compensation and they manage five of his rental properties. Shocking!! This is not how you do business. We go on one vacation and year and it takes about a year to save that money for the vacation. This goes down as one of the worst experiences we have had. I would not recommend Seibert!! Stay away!!

By dhenderson51 |

i grew up in the area. this was always a local beach. we could go home at the end of the day. i would not spend money to stay there. raw ocean, sand hot as hell in august, cold as hell in february. nothing there but beach. we went there when chesapeake beach and va beach were full of tourists. deep dropoff right off the beach, watch your kids. miles and miles from anything. ok if you like way out of the way places.

Haven't been here in 40 years, and though it was the off season, it was still as clean and unspoiled as I remembered it to be.

By Peter W |

This is a great, quiet, wide beach; it's not as crowded as the main stretch by the boardwalk. And over the dunes are picnic pavilions and restrooms, all very clean and convenient. Parking does cost, but it's not exorbitant.

By William G |

Sandbridge beach is for families. There is a $5 admission during the season. Dressing rooms and showers are available.

By Scomus11 |

Visiting with family the weekend after Labor Day. Minimal people, great weather and big surf. A nearby pool offered the relief instead of swimming in the high surf and strong rip currents.

By Megan L |

Absolutely loved this beach! Parking was a little bit of hassle to reach this beach but overall great. I did find seashells and the water was warm. The view of the sky and the hotels in the distance is truly cool and an experience everyone should have. I would recommend you go to the beach early around 11am or about 3pm after 3 it does seem to fill up and seem to feel a bit over crowded. But if you love beaches you will love this one.

By Long Island |

Rented Pinnacle from Seibert realty @Sandbridge. This is an oceanfront house. Please be careful renting these houses from the Website photos - the photos absolutely did not represent the condition of the house. Oddly enough, during COVID you would think the home would be cleaned thoroughly but it was absolutely filthy. The house hasn't had an update for many years. Sliding doors didn't work, the pool liner had a huge gash in it (not kidding), the cement around the pool was sunken in creating a huge tripping hazard, there were so many spiders, gnats and other crawling insects in the house it was ridiculous. All the furniture in this house is either broken or disgustingly dirty. Yes, I realize this is a beach house and bugs are expected - but the house wasn't thoroughly cleaned in months so that it was overun with bugs. There were actual mouse dropping and dead bugs behind a living room couch. There were dusty old roach motels under the beds and behind the nightstands. The only way to describe this house is it looked like a beach rental that 12 guys would chip in for and not give a care about where they slept or how filthy it was. Shame on Siebert for not inspecting these houses after guests leave and shame on the owners for not updating this place and posting pictures that must have been taken many years ago. Aside from that - the beach is beautiful and every person who came to the house because of an issue (there were plenty of people) were very nice and helpful. I just believe that when you rent a house for this much money that the realty should be pro-active instead of you having to call them for very basic things - like cleanliness. Nobody wants to spend their vacation on a phone.

What a lovely state park/conservation area (watershed). So near the bustle of Virginia Beach but so far. Tranquil. Enjoyed our back-to-nature stroll (well, except for the overhead roar of the constant navy jets in this area of the country but they seem to be ubiquitous)!
Worth a visit if staying nearby.

We love to go to Sandbridge because it isn’t heavily populated with tourists and it’s extremely peaceful. We used to have friends that lived a block from oceanfront and it was wonderful. There was hardly any traffic and a great place for our family to enjoy the beach and waves.

By cobble |

After spending a day on Virginia Beach, Sandbridge Beach was a welcome haven. This big wide sand beach wasn't crowded and it was easy to relax and enjoy the view, instead of crushed in the crowds on Virginia Beach. Seniors and families will love Sandridge Beach

By Lori W |

Received a great tip from a local to go to Sandbridge Beach - as it is not so touristy.
This was beginning of Fall season and not much going on there anyway, but truly enjoyed this quiet time of walking and watching the birds on this beach. There is a local grocery store that will supply all of your needs and a very clean restroom.
Will plan to go back whenever we visit. then a nice tour of the neighborhood, imagining buying one of the beach homes.

By Tom C |

Crowds a little lesser with COVID, sand was hot and water warm. Wkend will have bigger crowds. Clean beach, swimmable, surf-able (though small waves)...when wind is right there are no bugs and the day is perfect.

By Gerry |

There are crowded beaches all up and down the coast. But Sandbridge is not crowded and it is not remote either. It is a great mix of being away in your own beach house with the beach in walking distance and being connected to the city attractions.
We enjoyed the beach houses and "do what you want" feeling at Sandbridge that does not disrupt but enables family relationship no matter what activities you choose to do. So if you are looking at beaches, you will find a beach house at Sandbridge to be economical and cozy and full of adventure,

By Josh H |

First time to Sandbridge. Absolutely loved the privacy of the beach. We stayed at Sanctuary on the south end. Beach was clean. Lifeguards do a great job of monitoring the beach! If you don’t want to go the whole way up to VA beach, there are plenty of restaurants within 15 minutes! Highly recommend Baja Restaurant & Firebrew Bar & Grill!!

Although we love Sandbridge Island and the location of the house we stayed in (Spinnaker), we were extremely disappointed in the house itself and in Beach Pro Realty. After 15 years of renting homes at both Standbridge and OBX, I was not ready for the home that was rented to us through Beach Pro Realty, This home was $14,000 for the week, so upon arrival we expected it to be very nice. Unfortunately we were mistaken. We had to have 5 different contractor interruptions to our vacation to fix immediate issues such as a soaking wet carpet in one of the master bedrooms, which required the lifting of the carpet, cutting out the pad, then an industrial fan blowing for 3 days and then the replacement of the pad. The biggest problem was the pool area, not only was it dirty, it was unsafe!! There were boards with nails sticking up through as well as broken glass all around the pool area (we cleaned this up). It also included an area of the pool that gave you an electrical shock if you touched it. We were in constant contact with Beach Pro Realty to try to remedy the situation, but were told "this is part of the Sandbridge experience." The owner of Beach Pro Realty offered to compensate us for all of the issues, but never returned our emails and phone calls. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING USING BEACH PRO REALTY OR RENTING THE SPINNAKER, PLEASE DON'T!! You will be extremely disappointed. I hope that no one else experiences this. What should have been the vacation of a life time for our family, who are not often able to see one another, turned out to be memorable for all of the wrong reasons.

By Bob L |

Kind of natural. Well preserved. Good options for fun and sun.

My wife had camped here in the late 60's and wanted to go visit. Needless to say it had changed a lot.

But still a popular site, even off season.

I almost don’t want to tell people how beautiful it is so that the residents can keep this small part of Virginia Beach to themselves! Multiple clean facilities and a playground for the little ones. I really enjoyed it.

We have been vacationing in Sandbridge since 2005. Many of the home have been replaced by lovely, larger rentals. It's such a beautiful place with peaceful views in all directions, yet it is accessible to shopping. Our family/friends gift list has changed over the years, and Siebert has always provided a rental that met our needs. We also have brought two dogs every year, so our list is confined to Pet friendly, some with fenced in yards. Recently, we are keeping our rentals to Panorama, and Fanta Sea. Those houses check off everything on our list, and their Housekeepers do an awesome job of making them spotless. We will begin booking our 2026 rental for September tomorrow. Spring is already in the books!

Here is the official text about Sandbridge beach. But I mist say that it is really as explained below. A GREAT PLACE. 15 miles south of the Resort Area of Virginia Beach, Sandbridge is a secluded beach hideaway of 5 miles of pristine sand dunes and dancing sea oats. It is a relaxing and peaceful community where you can truly slow down and unwind on your vacation. Beachside, the Atlantic never fails to entertain. And for those craving even more of the great outdoors, the marshes and open waters of Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and False Cape State Park make for great kayaking, hiking, and fishing

By jtm4810 |

Stayed with 3 other families had 10 kids between 7-16. Went charter fishing and going rate is 550/ 4ish hours max 6 people. I have been on a handful of these and the guy who took us is Kurt Ward and what a fantastic trip it was. Unbelievably laid back and helped the kids (two 12 year olds and one 10 year old) reel in over 40 fish in 3 hours. Worth every penny and the kids LOVED it. His number is 757-406-2286. What a day and we were going to all go out to dinner tonight but will feed the whole house instead.
As for Sandbridge the beaches are nicer than expected as we are used to Florida panhandle which are very nice. In terms of picking a house make sure you pick a newer house. I was a little disappointed with the lack of upkeep in this house— it was right on the beach which was great though.

The beach was clean and people nice. Parking was a little hairy but oh the view was worth it. Recommend parking around the Dairy Queen.

Sandbridge has been a wonderful family vacation for us for the past two decades. This summer was no exception. It is quiet, relaxed and very peaceful. The rental houses are affordable and close to the water.

We had a wonderful time here. Beautiful beach not to busy super clean. Will def be back! Everyone loved it!

If you want to avoid the crowds, go to Sandbridge. Easy to get to, only 15 miles South of VB. Large paved lot, clean restrooms and changing rooms, playground for the kids and picnic shelters as well. Beautiful, uncrowded beaches and a great view. Not surrounded by hotels and tourist shops. Be aware though, they do charge for parking and even if the booth is unattended, you're still required to get a parking permit at the kiosk through the end of September even though there's no signage to indicate this. We had parked here free after Labor day previously with no issues, but apparently it has changed. I guess that's one way to prey on out-of-town visitors. But it's still a wonderful beach and I'll go back in the future.

I have been a fan of Virginia Beach for many years but last year we traveled with some friends and stayed in a beachfront house in Sandbridge. I was a wonderfully peaceful experience. We walked from the back porch down onto the sand and into the water in a matter of seconds. The beach was MUCH less crowed than that of the boardwalk area beaches there! If you are looking for a relaxing, low key spot, Sandbridge Beach is for you.

By baybeblueeyes |

We did a family vacation this year and none of us were ever in Virginia Beach, so we wanted to check it out. We prefer the smaller towns with the option of heading into town, so Sandbridge was a no-brainer. We rented a house that comfortable fit 4 couples, a toddler, and 3 dogs. We were a block off the beach, and there was a little path right beside us for easy beach access.

We were surprised when we got to the beach at how much space we had. We’re used to having to get there early to get a spot. The choice was ours this week. The sunrises are absolutely beautiful. The waves were strong, so we didn’t go too far into the water. We definitely lucked out with the most beautiful weather.

There are nature reserves and bike trails, plenty of fishing/kayaking options, and a few little shops. A 10-15 minute drive will get you to a few shopping centers with anything you could possibly need. 20-25 minutes will get you to the aquarium and into Virginia Beach itself.

We will definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Sandbridge Blue, and VRBO, gave us a great location, but the house was not clean or maintained well. They advertised "Covid clean" but it was poorly cleaned. They would not allow us to offer our review on their site. We still had an awesome vacation with our family.

We’ve been coming for 12 years - love this clean, uncrowded family friendly beach! Only has lifeguards on the public spots which is a small drawback but otherwise it’s great. Not a lot to do though so need to bring your own fun.

I needed to write this review on this page because I could not find one specifically for Siebert Reality vacation rentals. We choose to go with this company because it was recommended by a friend. The original house we choose and began to pay on removed the listing and then we needed to choose another location. However then the original house listed again for more money. After a very long drive, we arrived about 1.5 hours after the 4pm checkin to then find the cleaning crew still in the house indicating only the lower level needed cleaning. I went to the top level and found a wet beach towel outside and another wet towel on couch. The refrigerator on the lower level still had bait remaining from previous guests. The house was dusty and we cleaned the vents, doors, and dusted things that had clearly had not been dusted in months. The grill was dirty with foil still inside and around the pool area was various trash that we picked up the first part of the week. The pool was dirty and after a bad storm the first night had even more stuff in the bottom of the pool. By the 3rd day we called to ask if the pool can be cleaned. Staff put in a work order and I indicated the levels are checked on Tuesday or Wednesday. It’s Wednesday at 4:45pm. Will be shocked if they arrive. My favorite was catching strange kids on kayaks running from our dock to jump in our pool then to run back inti their kayaks. Yes I know there is nothing to be done about that but seriously we have traveled lots of places and not experienced anything like this. We rented beach chairs, umbrellas and kayaks from another place to also be disappointed by broken, dirty and rusty items. Will review them separately.

We rented the house called North Star for a week in September 2019. We absolutely loved the house. It was clean, spacious enough for everyone to have their own space but, also provided many common areas for our family to gather. Amazing ocean views from both decks with a pool that everyone could enjoy. We did have a few issues, all minor, like the jacuzzi tub not working, which was only unplugged because of the storm a week earlier. We called Siebert, who were very pleasant everytime I called and they sent someone over and all the minor issues were repaired. We are so happy we choose North Star and Siebert reality. We will be back

The place the locals go during tourist season to avoid the big crowds, the traffic, and tourist shops! I love this place, and in the winter it's even more incredible. Throw on a sweater and long pants and walk along the sand hearing the waves crash!

This beach is one of my personal favorites for our family, we try to go at least twice a week during the summer

By Jane T |

My favorite family vacation place. Laid back, mellow and not commercial. A great mix of friendly locals and vacationers. Love the market, bar and Baja Coffee. Spectacular sunrises and un-crowded beaches. Excitement not far away for teens and adults. Highly recommend the Virginia Beach Aquarium too.

By cbake1 |

Had an amazing time at the beach and with home rental Happy Ours with Siebert Realty. The house was big and beautiful and looked just like the pictures on the website. No surprises. We would definitely rent it again. Nice quiet area very close to all the sites and restaurants in VA Beach

By Meredith R |

Visiting on the tail-end of summer was a bit depressing, as the beach was cold, but it was beautiful to see the ocean nonetheless. I'm sure this beach is much better in summer, and great for families! Hopefully we will be back.

By TLJade |

Our favorite beach in the VB area. A real family beach. Clean and well maintained. The bath houses are usually clean. (The outside changing areas could be cleaner). No messing around here. Safe for children. Nice playground. I wish they had more food options! Parking $5 a day or you can get weekly/monthly passes in the summer. Several geocaches nearby. Kayak access bayside.

Lovely island. We usually go farther south to OBX but was pleasantly surprised in Sandbridge! Not overly populated and beautiful beach. Planning on coming back.

Had a wonderful time. Quiet beach, great clean condo one block away. Highly recommend Tropical Breeze condo through Siebert Realty. Enjoyed sitting out on the balcony listening to the ocean and birds. Only 12 units in Seaside at Sandbridge. Nice pool to enjoy. Not your typical party town. Gem that few people know about. Baja is a short distance away for drinks and dinner.

We loved our one week beach rental at BEAUTY AND THE BEACH, 3241 Sandpiper Road, Sandbridge Beach, VA. This was literally a last minute rental with Siebert Realty b/c our original rental with Sandbridge Realty was full of mold and we REFUSED to stay there. Beauty and the Beach was lovely, apparently recently been renovated. The house has 3 levels, 5 bedrooms and 4 baths - lots of room for our family of 6, plus a very tame dog, to spread out (our adult children accompanied us). The house backs to the canal, so it's a couple of blocks from the beach, but that was ok for us. Plenty of driveway space for several cars, a deck on the front and back of the house, a well maintained backyard swimming pool, a small dock to the canal with an available kayak, and a firepit on the side of the house (we made s'mores one night which was fun). This was our first family vacation to Sandbridge and it was great - very quiet and not many people on the beach (we were there Aug 29-Sept 5, 2020). We've had family beach vacations for 30+ years with our kids, who all said this was their favorite beach rental yet. We would rent here again. And many thanks to Siebert Realty for helping us rent at the last minute :)

By Scott K |

We stayed in Sandbridge area for our anniversary. We brought three teenagers and three dogs with us. It was relaxing spending time on the beach. Sunrises were breathtaking. Weather was amazing during our entire stay.

By Amanda H |

We were frustrated with the traffic and the lack of people following traffic laws and etiquette, so sought out a different beach for our kids to experience the ocean for the first time. We LOVED Sandbridge Beach! Not chaos at all. It was mostly family’s and not crowded at all. Totally worth the extra drive.

By Don B |

My wife and I drove down to this beach area and were very pleased we did. A great area. Enjoyed the day.

By livinginPA |

You can get home made sandwiches at the market. This beach is always relatively quiet. If you want to be ready for the rare biting fly day, bring bug spray if there is a southwest breeze.

By Kiana A |

Sanbridge Beach is such a nice beach! It's quiter than Virginia Beach and alot less people. There are only beach houses and condos there is no boardwalk. It was perfect for our family's beach day!

By Jenny R |

This is a nice beach! Water was blue, sand was clean and there were so much less people than at boardwalk. A must visit!

By Joe D |

TERRIBLE customer service. Do not book with this company. House was filthy and ruined my wedding day. My 78 year old grandma was cleaning the house because maintenance didn’t come our house keeping.

By Millie R |

Sandbridge Beach is the Outer Banks without all the Outer Banks crowds and tourist traps. Look at a map of the Outer Banks...they don't stop at the North Carolina border, they continue up to Sandbridge. If you want the wide, sandy beaches and Atlantic Ocean views of North Carolina's Outer Banks without all the commercial fuss, this is the place!

By zanypoet |

Less crowded than VA Beach and none of the trappings of boardwalk and touristy attractions. If you are not a VA Beach resident, then you pay a reasonable $5 for all day parking, credit card only. The beach is not too far from the parking lot and the parking lot has decent bathroom facilities and canopied shelters with picnic tables.
The beach is well maintained and has lifeguard on duty.
We made it a daytrip but there are lots of units of beach houses and condos available for renting. Definitely worth a visit.

By darcel m |

Sandbridge is a very quiet beach town. Just sand and sun.Great place for families to have low key fun and relaxation.I find this place my happy place. Will definitely come back again and again.Beach is clean.love the Back Bay state park.great for bike rides!

By WALTER L |

Uncommon in Virginia Beach. I love quiet and not so crowded beaches and if you are like me this is a must visit place while in Virginia BBeach.

By Joseph Sr |

House was nice but the condition and the rental offer were HORRIBLE. Had my daughter's wedding there, the speakers did not work, the outside lights did not work, the elevator broke down, the floors were disgustingly dirty, the ceiling in the pool area leaked, the freezer in outside bar did not work and on and on and on when they were contacted about a refund they were extremly nasty and didn't give a $hit about anything once they had our money. For what we paid for a few days the house should have been PERFECT. DO NOT RENT FROM SANDBRIDGE YOU WILL REGRET IT.

By cfire1125 |

We traveled to Sandbridge for the first time in August of 2018. We rented a beautiful home from Siebert Realty. I love that there are no hotels around. It feels like a very private area. The beach was beautiful and a very clean area. So quiet and relaxing, and a quick 30 minute drive and you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of Virginia Beach. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked our 2019 vacation.

By Debbie A |

we stated going to Sandbridge in 2011 and have stayed at several homes. Some were nice some not. Regardless which realtor you use they all have a real problem with how the properties are cleaned. Out of our 15 rentals over the eleven years we have only had three maybe four that were cleaned correctly. So Realtors, get your poop in a group and make sure the homes are CLEANED, not swept with a broom or leaving dust and crap on the counters and floors. People are on vacation and don't want to spend three or four hours cleaning a house that was to be clean when they arrive.

By joannef1964 |

This is an amazing beach !!! Crowds are small most days and beach is very clean. They have restrooms that are keep clean and when your little one is done swimming they have a park. The fee is 3 dollars for va Beach residents and 5 for others. Nice place to take whole family

By Kristi K |

Away from the crowds. If you love the beach but not the people, come here. A favorite place to go for a slow relaxing day.

By familytraveler077 |

We rented a house from Siebert Realty and were stunned at the condition of the house upon arrival. The outside of the house, porches, and decks had green mold growing everywhere. There were several nails sticking up on the porches (one slit my grandson's foot wide open) Now how hard would it be to hammer those nail heads down? There was also what appeared to be a "bong" broken on one of the steps of the deck. The grass surrounding the house was knee deep. Our family loves to play volleyball and it was advertised to have a volleyball court. Needless to say, we could not play volleyball in knee deep grass. We were told the first day that someone would be there to mow the next day. This never happened. However, the pool and hot tub were pristine!

Now to the inside, the moment we opened the front door we were met with the smell of dead fish. The kitchen sink and garbage disposal reeked of fish. Even the countertop and outside of the refrigerator appeared to have something "fishy" on it. We immediately called Siebert Realty and they sent someone out to inspect it. They saw the shape it was in and sent a lady out to clean, so we were pleased with their response.

After she left, we decided we needed an early night. However, that was not to be. The beds were supposed to have been made before our arrival. Some were..some were not. A couple of the beds had sand in the sheets, so we set in and washed all of the sheets that weren't still wrapped in their plastic. I finally got in bed at 1:30. (The dryer took forever to dry)

Once we had the house as clean as we could reasonably get it, we did have a good time. We loved the roomy kitchen and living areas!

By Megan H |

This beach had soft sand, lifeguards and was way less crowded than Virginia Beach. Definitely worth the drive if you were staying in Virginia Beach area.

By Jeanettesdaughter |

No such thing as a bad beach. This is one of the finest on the Atlantic Coast. I visit whenever I see my family in Virginia Beach. Not the touristy oceanfront vibe. A California vibe. Pristine. Lifeguards, fishing off the pier, outdoor showers, surfers, a great spot. Bring your own food and drink. Watch for sharks and dolphins!

By Laura102696 |

Sandbridge Beach is my slice of heaven. Whether you have young children or teenagers this is your place. Quite family atmosphere.

By Sourdoughgirl |

We love going to this beach when we are visiting Virginia Beach. No huge crowds or busy downtown area - go to Neptune if you want that scene. If you want a quiet, peaceful and uncrowded beach, clean, soft sand, big waves for boogie boarding. Perfect for families, friends, groups.

By Eugenna |

I realize November is not when most people go to the beach in Virginia, but we went for the waves and peace not to swim. We only saw a couple of other people while we strolled the beach and picked up a few shells.

By arubagirl225 |

We have been vacationing in Sandbridge Beach for a few years now and absolutely LOVE IT!! The Market is a great spot for quick pick ups of food, etc. and they a have the BEST homemade donuts!!! The kids love to bike ride to the ice cream shop after dinner and then shop in the few gift stores. Very happy to see that the stores are taking Covid-19 seriously and making everyone where masks in their stores.

We have always rented from Siebert Realty and have NEVER had an issue with them. They have always been so friendly and helpful to us. We have rented The FOLLOWING SEAS house for a few years through them and last year when I gave Siebert Realty a list of issues that should be addressed, I was very happy to see that the items I mentioned to them the year before had been updated/replaced/fixed. There were a few lights that didn't work outside and as soon as I called them, they sent someone over within 20 minutes of my call!

The only other thing I would like to mention is that when we got our keys for the house, the cleaning people were still there cleaning the house. Due to Covid-19, the cleaning people were making sure everything was cleaned from top to bottom before our stay. So, my suggestion is if you arrive at your rental and they are still cleaning, please be patient. Even though I brought our own wipes and stuff, the cleaning people did a great job for us!

The beach is always so clean and quiet and there is always plenty of room to spread out.

By Karen B |

We’ve been coming here to Sandbridge since 2006. It’s been so much more quiet and less crowded than it’s northern neighbor. However, the secret’s out and it’s starting to become more popular. This is reflected in the riding costs of the rental homes. Hopefully this will settle down a bit.
This is my happy place. And when I win my millions in the lottery, one of these homes will be mine! One can always dream. ♥️

By Brit P |

So this beach is stunning. It is however somewhat remote with a small store and vacation rentals. No big hotels. No returants so bring everything you need for the day.

By queencrab3 |

The beach is so clean and beautiful. The kids love playing in the waves and looking for sea shells. We love the fishing pier and the nice people that love fishing just as much as I do. Great place.

By Wanderer29682469878 |

Paradise, quiet, clean and relaxing. Stayed at Tropical Breeze, condo at Seaside at Sandbridge. Place was clean, one block from the beach and had a pool. Condo was clean, wonderful kitchen everything we needed. Comfy beds, huge TV and nice porch to drink coffee in the morning. Beautifully decorated and true to it's name. Lived Sandbridge, quiet family friendly away from the bars and noise. Best vacation ever. Rented through Seibert no complaints.

By gmoney3689 |

This beach is free of commercialized areas. There are no bars, stores, or restaurants along this beach. It was clean and had lots of open space. Most of the beach goers, I would think, lived nearby or were renting beach houses nearby. You can get food at the Seaside Market or at Zero's Subs, but other than that, there are no restaurants around. We saw a lot of dolphins and 2 stingrays in the water which was cool.

By BiscottiLady |

I’m a little delayed in posting this review, but I feel compelled to post it anyway. STAY AWAY! from Sandbridge’s FREE WINDS beach house, 2749 Sandpiper Rd, Sandbridge Beach, VA. Our family's August 2020 Sandbridge, VA beach rental, FREE WINDS, was full of MOLD - on and around every ceiling vent, as well as mold in the hallway bathroom. This is a health hazard and NO ONE should have to breathe in moldy air. If I could give this rental a rating of zero stars, I would. Upon arrival and discovery of the mold, we immediately called Sandbridge Realty who rented the house to us, telling them we refused to stay there and we'd like another rental. They said all their rentals were booked that week, and didn't understand our issue since 'no one else had ever complained about this house.' They sent out a nice maintenance man to 'fix' our concerns, but even he was overwhelmed by the amount of mold and wasn't able make the repairs. We had paid for the rental with our VISA, so we called VISA, explained the situation, and learned we had recourse in filing a claim to get our money back. Once we shared that news with Sandbridge Realty, they did a 180 and said they'd refund us, which they did, but only after 2 hours of relentless haggling. Sandbridge Realty management was dismissive of our concerns - we'll never rent from them again. That said, besides the mold, the house had dirty, matted down carpet, and the kitchen table was SO wobbly, it was useless. Also, in the middle of the master bedroom sat a very large, LOUD, portable air conditioner which was hosed and duct taped to the master bedroom window - seriously?? THAT wasn't shown in the beach rental pictures, but I've attached my pictures. Lastly, the ceiling vent over the bunkbed was not only moldy, it was dripping water - yuk. This house needs to be gutted and renovated. Bottomline, if you don't mind mold, stay here. If you do, find another rental. Thankfully we found a last minute rental, only b/c the original renter cancelled at the last minute due to a family emergency.

We have been staying in ocean city for the last 4 years and we decided to try something different. Sandbridge in itself is a great concept (quiet and laid back) it isn't so great if you want to go anywhere or do anything.. we drove 20 to 30 mins anytime we needed anything that wasn't overpriced to reflect convenience. The beaches were not as clean as Virginia beach and there were crabs absolutely everywhere. The house was rented from siebert... the photos were misleading and the house was outdated and buggy. I actjally had to sweat a tick off of my leg the first day we arrived. My kids were bored the second day here and we left a day early.

By Kathy K |

Beautiful, uncrowded beach with excellent wildlife viewing. Convenient parking, market, and restaurants.

By Jane S |

We went and fell in love with the place right away..Miles and miles of sandy beach with no one around for miles.Park at the Refuge and head on out You will be happy that there is not all that commercialism and crowded beaches.

By Susan S |

If you are looking for a nice quiet beach away from the crowds, this beach is perfect. I am sure it is busier during the summer months, but it doesn’t have the chaos like on the Boardwalk...only saw I little cafe and small grocery.

By Christina N |

Tropical Breeze, a two bedroom condo at Seaside at Sandbridge Seibert Reality One block from the beach. Fabulous place, super clean had a wonderful kitchen and comfy couch with huge TV . Sipping coffee on the balcony while listening to the ocean. Quiet and serene. State park up the street gorgeous sunsets. A piece of paradise. Absolutely loved this place.

By Eva C |

This was my family of 12's first trip to this beach and we loved it! It is a much shorter drive for us for an even better experience than some of the beaches farther south. It is very peaceful and there's plenty of free beach space for an umbrella or belongings unlike some other, more crowded beaches. We loved watching sunrises and seeing the dolphins. Think we are going to make this an annual place! Loved it.

By Yvette P |

I will just post the pics. They say it all. Got evacuated after the second day but no refund cause I didn’t buy the insurance. No place to go. Just get out.

By TravelingMom |

When we booked this property for our 15 person family several months ago, we were impressed by not only the description and amenities this property listed but also the beautiful pictures that were posted on the website. We felt this property had everything we needed for an enjoyable vacation to fit our 15 person family. “Impeccably maintained... loaded with every imaginable amenity. “ List includes:...patio tables, chairs and loungers...7 bedrooms...gas grill...basketball...cornhole...foosball...pool table...and extra refrigerator.” Although many of these amenities did exist, they were far from being in any condition to use or enjoy. As far as “impeccably maintained” that was a real stretch and I’d also say false advertising. I’ve been in the rental business for 10 years and I can honestly say I would never mislead a renter the way this description and pictures did to us. Please see the website on Siebert Realty with the description along with the pictures of the property and then compare to my actual pictures.

“Impeccably maintained”: Landscaping with cigarette butts and trash throughout. Stairs with broken glass. Front door hasn’t been cleaned in a very long time and paint chipping everywhere.

Basketball, foosball, pool table, golf hole and corn hole either broken or stained.
Grill rusted out, and deck not inviting as furniture scarce and what was available for seating outside on ground level was limited.

“Beautifully furnished” was a D- at best. Several pieces of furniture was old and either stained, ripped, broken, missing parts, rusted.

Overall cleanliness was disgusting. Behind the beds were full of dust, trash, candy, baby pacifier. Under the beds was dusty and dirty. The walls in the hallways and bathrooms haven’t been wiped down in a very long time. Dirt and hair all over. Holes in wall. Dead bugs all over the house especially in basement.

The refrigerator in the kitchen is a different pic then advertised and the 7th bedroom could not possibly count as a bedroom (no closet) and looked more like a closet than a bedroom.

The stairs are dangerous. They have a lip on each step and in several places protruding nails. We had 2 people fall while staying in this house.

Lastly, on the last night, there was something wrong with the furnace. In the middle of the night we were awoken with a loud hammering sound that woke the whole house up. The only way to stop the noise was to turn the fan from auto to on.

I would not recommend this house to any family looking for a beach rental in Sandbridge Virginia.

(Before posting this review I reached out to Siebert Rental company. No one followed up.)

By Paul R |

This is a beautiful, quite beach, in comparison to pretty much any beach on the East coast that I've visited. It's basically discoverable through word of mouth only. Wide beaches, privacy and less people. Only thing is you have to get here early because parking is slim, unless you drive to Little Island at the end of Sandndge where the fishing pier is located. Incredibly nice!

By Jean D |

Had a wonderful time at Sandbridge Beach! Spent 5 days there! The beach is clean and peaceful with plenty of space. No hopping over people to find a place of to lay out your blanket and tent.
Plenty of sand, sun and surf for all!

By Bob H |

This is the beach that the locals frequent. The Virginia Beach Boardwalk is for the tourists. This is the beach that the locals go to. Backed up on one side by the Back Bay Wildlife preserve and on the other by the Atlantic Ocean it is a laid back beach get away for the family or just for a relaxing day at the beach. ENJOY!

By tlvia |

It’s been years since we’d need to Sandbridge and it didn’t disappoint. It was beautiful-the beach was clean.

By Victor |

Sandbridge beach is a quiet little town. Only 8 miles away from Walmart &target shopping. But the town it self is quiet, clean, locals are friendly. The town has several mom&pop local shops and markets. This is my family's first time here and we'll be back for sure. Love it here!

By rayroy |

Sandbridge was amazing. Family rented a house down here with a private section of beach and invited us down. We had the best time. The beach was clean the water was great and the views where stunning.we can't wait to go back.

By VaBeachSmith |

Sandbridge is in the far southern area of Virginia Beach, with tiny to mega beach houses (many for rent) perched on the dunes. The beach is wide open for walkers, joggers, families or couples. You'll need a car to get there, but it is worth the trip.

By Cara S |

Sandbridge Beach is lovely and all. Though largely a locals beach, it is Very crowded and there is almost always a long line to get into the parking area on the weekends. It’s ok- a more pleasant experience than the oceanfront, but nonetheless, a lot of people and noise. I wish we had more easily accessible and peaceful places to enjoy the ocean around here.

By Joseph P |

We enjoyed what had to be the most private oceanfront experience on the east coast. Long stretches of beach without anyone around. Peaceful and beautiful!

By tazmania630 |

Nice beach reminds of a small version of the outer banks. Nice waves and very few people . Nice pier you can walk out onto with nice view

By Remom92 |

Sandbridge is a beautiful, clean and well guarded beach. As someone accustomed to the overcrowded beaches of New Jersey and Delaware, it was refreshing to have room to stretch out. Water was warm and the waves were great. We stayed at condos right on the beach which made getting onto the beach was easy. Also visit the beach at night with a flashlight (even better, bring a red light), to catch a view of the ghost crabs- very cool!

By Laura L |

The beach was nice and quiet!! Unfortunately, you are at least 20 minutes from everything. If you like to walk around and window shop this isn’t the place for you.

By sunnyography |

Sandbridge is a lovely beach. Clean and also slightly more natural than VB but not wild. They do have *Rules* that are more strict than VB so check those out before you go- especially the Dog rules. All in all, it's a nice place to relax on the beach.

By John S |

Our families have been visiting Sandbridge for many years, usually renting through Sandbridge Realty. This year upon our arrival it was obvious that our rental home had not been cleaned, i.e., the bathrooms were very dirty with one of them having an extreme amount of mold in the shower. In addition, there were various maintenance issues that needed to be corrected. This is a pet friendly property, the backyard was overgrown and contained many pet feces, which I cleaned up immediately so our pets and children could have access to a clean yard. It was in absolutely disgusting condition.

This was an extremely dirty property both inside and out, and it was obvious that the unit had not been inspected prior to our arrival to verify its readiness. We checked in on Saturday and after placing a call to complain, the bathrooms were cleaned and the maintenance issues were resolved on Monday!

These rentals are expensive and it's disappointing that this situation occurred without any explanation or compensation. I personally met with their house keeping and maintenance managers on Tuesday to discuss the situation, who advised that the matter would be looked into. But to date we have not received one word of explanation. Extremely poor customer service from this Realty company!

Wonderful beach. Great sand. Great modest waves. Great walks. I hate crowded American beaches with overweight people jammed cheek (get it?) by jowl. This one is different.

By Bill H |

A beautiful wide beach with easy access with beautiful sand. Easy waves with light undertow. Dolphins and flying fish are spotted daily. Enjoy!

By Caitlin S |

We came to visit Virginia beach for thr week and someone told us about this beach so we checked it out. It is definitely more quiet and not as busy as Virginia beach. If your looking for a beach that's not busy and is just as beautiful as Virginia beach I would go to sandbridge beach.

By Davidgetsaround |

Visiting the beach, for someone who lives in a beach town, can be a fun, but frustrating experience. The crowds of summer ruin the beach experience for those of us who live nearby - and Sandbridge Beach is the cure. It's a "better beach" for those of us who aren't there to party, but rather to enjoy the nature that an Atlantic Beach can provide.

By Susan E |

We rented a house on Sandbridge Beach. Sandbridge Beach is an interesting place. Very quiet beach in most areas. Some parts of the beach have lifeguards and other areas do not. Not quite sure why the entire area isn’t guarded. We were there during an extremely hot week and the ocean water was warm which was great.
There are few businesses on the island. However, inland about 3 miles there are many shopping areas. Not much to do on the island. There is a small playground for younger kids but really nowhere to walk to other than the beach.
I doubt we will return. Thought we’d try it but we found we like beach towns with businesses in walking distance.

Just returned from a 1 week stay. We rented through Siebert Realty - The Tides (which is an oceanfront home). There was so much to complain about from the condition of the outdoor pool area to the kitchen ants/termites which were never taken care of the week we were here. Also, the theater room tv never worked (we had a workorder in the whole week were there but nobody came to look at it). This home is for sale for $3,009,000 and the owner is definitely neglecting the upkeep on this home. Windows not cleaned through the home. Carpets not vacuumed. Keurig coffee maker had black mold on it. Dishes/pots/pans/utenils in the cupboards were dirty and completely unorganized. The vents throughout the house were so full of dust, can't imagine when they were cleaned or changed. Termites started in kitchen nook and also moved up to window in bedroom above............were arrived on Saturday and pest control company came on Thursday, said it was termites and left. Seibert did not want move us to another home, however they only had a smaller home available and this was not an optioin for the # of people in our party. Shame on Siebert and the owner of The Tides. This could be an amazing hme.........................but soooo neglected.

I went to Sandbridge about 10 years ago for a family reunion and returned with my family a couple summers ago. We rent a different house each year with a pool so we can have the best of both worlds. We’ve invited family to enjoy the quiet open beach with us. There isn’t much to do in the direct area, just a couple restaurants, market for shopping, Ice Cream Shop, and beach shops but it’s not a long drive to get to grocery stores, liquor stores, the aquarium, etc. We love this clean quiet beach and hope to vacation here for many years!!

It can get crowded but if you’re over the Virginia Beach boardwalk scene, Sandbridge is where the locals go to the beach. Less crowded, less vendors, less boardwalk, more sand, more ocean, more family. We live in Chesapeake and this is where we go when we go to the beach. Oops the secret is out.

By Amber G |

Little Island Park is great! Bathrooms/changing rooms were clean. Plenty of cheap parking. Clean sand. Small waves for kids to enjoy. Lifeguards did a good job and aren't going overboard.

By Frank Sinatra |

Excellent parking, good price, super sand, clean beach, great waves, family oriented, bath rooms, shower, perfect day on a beach!

This was a weekend beach day... Not to crowded, just a great beach.

Sandbridge oceanfront is amazing, so quiet and tranquil. Great family time and house s are very spacious.

What another incredible week at Sandbridge Beach Virginia staying at the Sandfiddler House. An amazing house with pool, media room and enough bedrooms and baths to take care of any guests. Our weather was perfect!! Attention to detail and customer experience by Sandbridge Realty and even the owner is above the norm. We experienced a small issue with one of the 2 dishwashers - and not only did Sandbridge Realty have a professional check it out on our visit - when they couldn’t fix it - between them and the owner - they places an order to replace both so the people coming in behind us would not have the same issue. That is extraordinary!! And on top of that - since our visit last year - the pool heater was added. This owner takes pride in providing new things for his quests. If you plan a trip to the East Coast - this house is a most stay house.

Sandbridge beach was a great getaway. The beach is clean and doesn't have many shells. It was the first time we had taken our two year old and she loved the sand and building sandcastles. The water was also clean and didn't have much seaweed. The beach did pretty crowded, but we were able to put our stuff out in the morning and leave it without worrying. We had never been here before and I definitely recommend it!

By Kevin R |

Sandbridge is great if you love spending time on the beach and want space to be able to spread out. Sandbridge is mostly large beach homes so it lacks the density of places with high rise condos. The beach is wide and the sand is clean. Water temperature and conditions can vary. If you are a bit adventurous, rent an ocean kayak and you can paddle in close proximity to dolphins that swim up and down the coast.

Sandbridge is NOT the best choice if your ideal vacation includes eating out, walking along a board walk, playing mini golf /putt putt, and/or shopping. If that's what you want, you're better off at Virginia Beach.

By Don X |

We stayed at Sandbridge while visiting Virginia Beach. The beach was nice, not too busy. Definitely recommend visiting versus the busier areas of Virginia Beach.

By Angela R |

Try and visit it at low tide for beautiful shells that are large in size. Go in morning, if possible, as street parking fills up fast. Great beach if you have kids, as it isn't overly busy, but didn't see any public bathrooms.

By MegsW19 |

We have never visited Virginia Beaches, this is our first beach trip outside of NC in 20+ years. We had to change our vacation plans due to hurricane Florence and come north. Friends and coworkers back home didn’t not make the beaches up here sound very pleasant so we were a little worried that our vacation would suck. However, we got lucky and found a condo outside of Virginia Beach in Sandbridge and are very pleased with the beach here. It’s a little more crowded then what we are used to but the beach itself is very nice and clean. The water is beautiful and the beaches are kept very clean. This is a place I wouldn’t mind visiting again but definitely only during the off season. It’s crowded now and you feel like you’re on top of people so I would hate to see what it is like in season.

By Yankee06360 |

Great beach, scenic, low key for a relaxing outing. Not too many places to purchase food and drink so bring what you need. Family environment, no loud music or large crowds of tourists.

By Nancy L |

Sandbridge Beach is a quiet, family-oriented beach located south of Virginia Beach and Dam Neck military base. Never crowded, and definitely no tacky advertisements floating by. Lifeguards on duty on the main blocks, but not the whole beach, so choose your swimming areas carefully.

By JP Explorer |

Personally, I prefer this quieter beach over the more developed Virginia Beach part. Parking is either 5$/day (non-residents) or even free if you get one of the few of the street parking ones. Loads of rental houses. Although we did neither, it seems good for fishing and kayaking/stand up paddle,...) we saw a lot of dolphins and even a whale which was a big surprise to us. Little Island Park has changing possibilities and shower/toilets next to the parking. Unfortunately, the wildlife refuge (further south) is not accessible from the beach. Generally, there are some annoying flies around especially more south than the northern part.

Love Sandbridge, and we’ve had great experiences with Beach Pros Realty and Sandbridge Realty. Rented Almost Heaven from Siebert and oh, where do I start. Maybe the infestation of ants so that you can’t sit on couches for any period of time. Maybe fact air conditioning rarely got house below 77, until they changed the disgustingly filthy filters, which then made me worry about the air we had been breathing for half the week. And even then house was at 74 at best and little bedroom down In basement stayed at 77 as did outside room. Maybe it’s the fact that they don’t clean the grill and have a big sign for tenants to clean it, but leave no tools. So our steaks were engulfed in flames the first night because we did not imagine it was never cleaned! Maybe the fact they have basketball and volleyball courts, but no basketball or volleyballs there so you have to go buy them. Maybe the utter lack of beach chairs, which most places give you a few. Not to mention not a single spice or salt and pepper, which, again, you find at most places. Or the clogged up main bathroom sink the ENTIRE time and clogged toilet part of the time. Or maybe fact that when there is a rainstorm, no warning that your car will be underwater, as there is no drainage and everyone else’s driveway seems to drain to our parking area. Lots of old pots and pans, but not enough silverware. And the whole place smells moldy such that they have air fresheners everywhere that don’t help and we even went out and bought a few extra to help. For more than $6k a week, would have expected more. There is a reason you can’t find any reviews, because it was really not worth the money.

By ALS |

Do NOT rent Dolphin View with Seibert Realty! The house is disgusting, filthy, moldy and unkempt. I was so sick after 2 nights there, I had to move. Seibert inly gave us $300 back. Yuck…should not be allowed to rent that. I wish I had taken some pictures of the interior but I just wasn’t there long enough. Check out the pool AFTER they cleaned it!

Our family has been going to Sandbridge for 10 years as renters and a couple of additional years to visit friends. Not only is the beach well maintained, it is residential. The bay is great for kayaking and there is a fishing pier available for fishing enthusiasts. There is a grocery store which is convenient for those items you forget to bring and a couple of restaurants. A great family destination.

By Patricia B |

Sandbridge Beach is beautiful There is a nice parking lot with clean facilities and the beach is huge. If you are lucky you will see the dolphins and the pelicans. However, there are limited places where you can eat or buy food if you come for the day. If you rent a house I highly recommend Simply Steamed - expensive, but delicious. We did a lobster steamer pot and purchased lobster salad sandwiches. To ensure you get lobsters for the pot, you need to call the day before. The pies are homemade - we had the key lime and a mixed berry. If you like fresh donuts, Sandbridge Market makes their own - but again you need to get there early - the line starts when the market opens at 7 am. If you rent a property confirm with the rental company what they will do if the AC stops functioning. We had to wait two days during the heat and humidity of July to get a burned out AC condenser replaced - a replacement that took 5 minutes.

11 years of Sandbridge Beach - such a hidden gem,not as crowded or touristy as VB. Clean sand, small crowds at beach. Water is warm mostly. Only homes and condos to rent,no hotels. Only a block or so,if you're not oceanfront. There's a store, find anything there, including souvenirs, fresh sandwiches, donuts, specials of the day. Closeby, there's an ice cream shop, a fresh seafood place to buy and do urself, 2 souvenir shops. If you want main street stores,10 min.away. wish we'd have found this beach years ago. I like quaint.

By JM21237 |

Very nice park on the bay side of VA beach. Lots of wild animals to see while walking along the paths. Beaches to enjoy a less crowded scene. Good place to go kayaking as well.

By Bibsisnay |

Just a few years ago we would be able to sit on the beach and see our children playing in the sand. Now people sit right on the edge of the water and block our view of the water. Very disappointing not to be able to see your children playing.

By GoodTaste2015 |

A great expanse of white sand and sea. A lovely peaceful place to be.
Plenty of sea birds enjoying the sand and sea too.

By mary532 |

Quiet and nice. It's great place to visit. Cute natural beach. Well worth the drive to get away from the noise of the boardwalk.

By Nancy D |

It's about a 15 minute drive to Sandbridge from Va Beach, but well worth it. The beach was quiet, clean and beautiful. Stunning dunes. Nice restrooms and changing facilities.

By Sanjiv |

Living in New Jersey, it has been such a good value, we have been to it 4 times over the last 10 years.

By TamC |

Awesome beach, but I had forgotten how hard it can be on your calves if you are not in good shape. LOL....after a couple of days I was fine. I actually worked off all the great seafood I ate. The beach is beautifully maintained. We felt very safe there even during the Hurricane we encountered which was verrrry scary. Some advice...don't stay at the Dunes. They are NOT clean and they need updated furniture. So disappointing. No reimbursement except for the cleaning fee. So stressful for the first few
days. Then the hurricane hit and no power for over 18 hours. You know you work hard for your money, spend a small fortune to stay in "what is perceived as a nice place " and this what you get. We stayed here 3 years ago, and it was not like this. We will be back to Sandbridge because of the quiet family atmosphere.

By LibLadyB |

We had beach access near our airbnb. Just lovely. Clean, well-patrolled, respectful sunbathers. I love a non-commercialized beach! Saw dolphins every day .

By Emily Reda |

This beach is beautiful, very clean and with very fine sand. At the beginning of the beach there is a parking lot, but it is good to arrive early to get a place. In this parking lot has a good bathroom which is a few meters from the beach. The wind in the afternoon is very strong in the summer so watch out for the umbrella

By Kiela L |

My family came here this past week and it was fun! My toddler really enjoyed the beach. We parked at the Sandbridge market, and it’s literally right next to the beach. It was not very busy and they have lifeguards! If you have young children and want to go somewhere that is not packed with people, Sandbridge is the place!

By Cory M |

We spent a week here with family and the first thing we noticed was the crab activity on the beach. They were everywhere which kept the grands very busy. The beach is nice and soft but with that, riding a bike on the beach is very dificult. There is a big drop off to the water.

By Hoppies4 |

What a lovely state park/conservation area (watershed). So near the bustle of Virginia Beach but so far. Tranquil. Enjoyed our back-to-nature stroll (well, except for the overhead roar of the constant navy jets in this area of the country but they seem to be ubiquitous)!
Worth a visit if staying nearby.

By pikagirlrose |

The beach is so clean, quiet and free! There is ample street parking in a nice neighborhood free of charge.

By Dottie C |

My family spent thousands of dollars to rent this Property (Red Fish Blue Fish) on Sandfiddler Road in Sandbridge Virginia...Here is just a few things we found and notified the real estate company about:
Sand in pool when we arrived
Liner in pool starting to pull away from edge
Grommets in pool area sticking out of ground
Dead insects on wall in bedroom,( most of which we cleaned)
Bathroom shower floor upstairs ( not master) very dirty/sand and we cleaned
Master bathroom upstairs— hair in drawer (not useable)
Some deck chairs dirty, which we cleaned
Some Dirty linens
Old soap left in bathroom.
Couches in basement sticky
End tables in king basement bedroom with food residue
The pool company came and said that sand blows around, which we understand, but he did not have approval to fix the pool liner or the grommets protruding from the ground (and later in the week my grandson hurt his foot on one of them)...

We saw but did not complain about Rust on deck table and some chairs

The location of this rental is beautiful BUT it definitely needs some updating and tender, loving, care.

By Louise T |

The beach is always busy with people exercising, riding horses, events and just swimming through the surf.

By Kerry M |

Very nice beach and beach crowd of families. Very quiet beach. So don't tell too many people of this gem!

By David H |

We rented a house on Sandbridge beach and will definitely be back. We are beach people and have been to several beaches in Florida, the Carolina’s, Mexico, and Jamaica. Sandbridge beach is our new favorite. It’s not crowded and is very clean. It’s sandy with no seaweed or rocks. Also not many shells if that’s your thing try somewhere else. The sunrises are fantastic and most mornings you can see big ships on the horizon. There are plenty of nice restaurants in the area and lots of activities nearby if you want a break from the calm and relaxing beach. The Virginia Beach boardwalk is a short drive north too. We rented a house from Siebert Realty and the process was hassle free. We also rented beach chairs from Moneysworth and they were good quality chairs delivered and waiting for us on arrival. It’s a great beach for families and those looking to sit back and relax.

By Buckminister B |

I wished i would've stayed in a bnb here instead of the main VB hotel area. The surf is much better here and it has more of a local feel. There's less anyone kids and generic old people too.

By laraineh62 |

This is a much smaller beach, they do have life guards and bathhouse. Parking is plentiful at a cost of $5 for the day. Need to bring beach chairs and umbrellas, because they do not rent beach equipment.

By Doug Ward |

I am so glad that we made the trip. This place looks like the putter banks. The dunes and the ocean were great but the back water was icing on the cake. Such a picturesque area. We loved every little thing about our visit. There were walkways everywhere. What a day!

By AJ G |

Quiet, beautiful groomed beach just south of Virginia Beach Oceanfront is Sandbridge. Stroll the great shoreline when tide is low. Enjoy a relaxing day at the beach. No boardwalk distractions. Great restaurant/bar to enjoy some great food and a locals favorite hangout.

By William T |

We are doing family beach week closer to home in 2018. Our three family group (six kids age 3 - 12) and six adults rented a large (up to 15 ) home, It was well stocked, modern, clean and adequate space. We are on the beach. A nice beach area with great sand.. Since we are near a public access area, our area has a few more folks than stretches that are just occupied by those in the homes. Public access in our area is just for the several rows of homes as there is not parking in our area except in the driveway of homes.

The road in (Sandbridge) is curvy, no shoulder on most parts, and lots of traffic! The speed limit varies between 35 & 45. But, in less than 15 minutes you are in a large shopping area with all sorts of options! Food Lion, Harris Teeter, and Wal Mart make stocking the kitchen an easy option. On the way in on Sandbridge you will pass a farmer's market with fresh fruit and vegetables.

By Rockabird |

We stayed in a rental house with our family of 15. It was 2 blocks from the beach and had a lagoon on the other side of the house. The views were wonderful. The Sandbridge stretch was enough off-the-beaten-path where there were not a lot of touristy and cheap places to spoil the ambiance. Very nice place to spend a vacation. We had a great time here.

By Kev E |

Took a four day break in Virginia Beach and walked a good six miles of the beach daily to and from the pier and was blessed with great weather and views. On one morning I was accompanied by a pod of dolphins and one Saturday evening we saw two wedding son the beach! Surfers were having a ball and I took the plunge into the Atlantic for a dip and my god those waves are strong....but be careful with youger kids as it tends to drag you out too! Awesome experience.

By Jo-Anne M |

The sunsets are wonderful, the beach experience is free of all of the restaurants, bars that you find on the Boardwalk and Little Island Park has pavilions for rent, a playground for the little ones and a laid back environment. If you have ever been to Cape Cod and love that, you will love this also. It is a hidden gem with many houses to rent out.

By Michael G |

Eleven members of my family, all ages from across the country, visited me in Sandbridge Beach for July 4th week. All rented apartments through VRBO in the new complex adjacent to the Wildlife Refuge, rented beach equipment through the Realty company online, and they all absolutely enjoyed the beach experience. While slightly remote and non-descript with limited road access, this week reminded us of our weeks on the New Jersey shore in the 60s and 70s. Quiet, uncrowded, but smaller waves perfect for young or inexperienced children. Small shops and restaurants offer much better options for take out than waiting for tables. Access to kayaks, e-Bikes, and all kinds of summer fun activities within walking distance. The local Independence Day celebrations avoided the crazy traffic getting to the big firework displays. Would be perfect throughout the year for lovers, family, sunrise beach walks, and stay-cation.

By Ben G |

Sandbridge is very densely populated with narrow roads and not a lot of room to walk on the roads ...which you have to do to get to the beach...or ride a bike..not a lot of parking so unless you have a rental it will be tough. Beach is nice and wide and despite there being many houses packed together, not too many people at the beach.

By Debbie R |

This beach is one my family has been going to for a long time. The prices of the houses have significantly increased making it more difficult for us to afford. We love the beach and quiet, quaint area. The firehouse has great bingo and we love Backbay! We parked for a day of fun and it was so wonderful!!

By jtlayne2018 |

Sandbridge is our favorite place to visit. A little out of the way, but completely worth the trip. At the end there is the Little Island Park, it’s got a playground, shelters for rent, volley ball, restrooms and showers. With multiple beach access. Lifeguards and a pier for fishing.

By Sandi Anderson |

The kids enjoyed the beach.. it wasn't a lot of people and there was a lifeguard on duty.. people friendly and the weather was great!!!

By Georgianna G |

We almost bought a beach house here but the timing was wrong. It is the Atlantic Ocean and the water was so clean.

By Marcia O |

Beautiful, laid back area is what I’d call this area. Quiet beaches, fun golf courses and plenty of houses to rent.

By Wanderer29682469878 |

Stayed at Tropical Breeze a condo at Seaside at Sandbridge. It was so very nice. Super clean fantastic kitchen with all the appliances and cookware I could use, they even had a flat grill and a Ninja blender. They even had a spice rack. One block from the beach and a swimming pool. The place is well maintained, beds were clean and comfortable. Loved the decor and the kids loved the big screen TV. Morning coffee on the deck. It's a small complex with about 12 units so it wasn't crowded. Third year in a row we stayed here. Lovely . Booked through Siebert Realty and had no problems at all.

By JLG |

This is a beautiful beach but it is all residential save for one or two small businesses. You must pay for public parking if you're not a resident.

By Jean G |

My sister rented a house in Sandbridge Beach for her birthday and she invited several friends and it was a delightful week! Wonderful food, views and friends.

By Carmela M |

Sandbridge beach reminded me of the Outer Banks when I was a kid. It is beautiful here. Beaches are clean and well maintained. My kids were hoping for a little more action but we spent some quality family time. Highly recommend.

By yogi329 |

Every couple of years we rent a house on the beach with my husband’s siblings and their spouses. It’s one of pur favorite vacation spots. Its a beautiful, peaceful area.

By markwake717 |

We’ve been to Sandbridge Beach twice in the last 5 years, and we love it. It’s far and away less crowded than the Outer Banks, Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Ocean City, MD or anywhere along the Jersey Shore. AND it’s more quiet and family-friendly. There are better restaurants and shopping than the OBX. It’s not as isolated and easier to get in and out of than the OBX, too. That strip of beach in NC may have more luxurious homes, but we prefer Sandbridge.

I’m sure we’ll be back here again soon.

By Bterror11 |

Sandbridge Beach is exponentially the better beach to get away from it all. If you don't like the over-amped
commercialism of The beach up north, this is the place. The locals know how to treat the tourists. It'd not snooty, it's not uppity, it's just...a great beach!! Just want a vacationer wants...laid backed relaxation!

By Clint |

We arrived early one morning to a red flag. No worries, we'll just play in the sand. We saw plenty of surfers. As soon as someone brought out a boogie board, here comes the lifeguard to say it wasn't permitted...with 10+ surfers present. The lifeguard was not very professional about their demeanor with the customer. There were also signs posted saying "no speakers or loud music." The lifeguard on our tower had a radio blaring music the whole time of our visit. It seems the rules only apply to some, and especially not those who are enforcing them. I don't think we'll be back.

By Gina M |

Beautiful, calming, and clean. I would highly recommend visiting this beach when you have some down time.

By Cindy S. |

This is a nice respite from the boardwalk and hotel lined main beach. There’s a fishing pier which was free at this time of year and we enjoyed a picnic at a table by a giant - picture prop - chair. The only disappointment was, I couldn’t walk very far on the beach since it turns to a protected federal area. I did learn later, that it’s only closed for about a mile and you can access the beach from the state park down the road. But the day I was at the park it was too cold for a beach walk. I was already frozen from the Back Bay tour!

By lmixter07 |

We visited at the end of January and were the only ones on the beach. There’s only one parking lot to access at the north end of the beach, limited to no parking near other beach access spots.

By Melevings |

We rented a house on the ocean with a swimming pool. This is a wonderful place for families. It is very residential and away from all touristy activities. Very relaxing. The dolphins were swimming every morning.

By Chris N Kristi W |

Great place to go without the crowds. We visited this beach because of the reviews and because it was recommended by locals. It was clean, not crowded and we saw lifeguards cruising up and down on ATVs all day keeping watch. We brought your own beach umbrella, chairs, snacks, etc. Parking can be a little tricky so I would recommend coming early in the morning or wait until the afternoon (after 2 pm or so). We went in the afternoon and found some free parking. After beach time, we utilized the outdoor showers to hose off our chairs, feet, etc. before driving back to our short term rental place. It was a great time.

By Stay781714 |

We used to rent in Sandbridge for years and years. We started going to the Outer Banks about 7 years ago and have really enjoyed it. We just came back to Sandbridge for this year's summer vacation because some family members like the shorter drive. I have to say, I forgot how bad the spiders are in Sandbridge versus the Outer Banks. Our beach house is COVERED with spiders once the sun goes down. I'm afraid to step outside after dark because I will walk into them. I even stepped on one that was HUGE. We never have this problem at the Outer Banks. Has anyone else experienced this issue in Sandbridge? Do the property companies do something in OBX that they don't do in Sandbridge?

By Mark B |

Wonderful beach. Not too crowded. Clean! Close to our rental. This is our second summer in a row, and I hope that next summer will be the same destination.

Make sure you pick up groceries and beverages before you hit the neach.

Note: There were no lifeguards on duty where we were on the beach.

By Joseph B |

Sandbridge Beach is great. Nice sand and water. It is a lovely place without the craziness of a popular beach destination. But if you want the craziness Virginia Beach is only 10 minutes away.

By Cari |

We love traveling to Sandbridge. The beaches are quiet and clean. It is a hidden gem. Would recommend for a family vacation.

By Streamer |

Usually Visit here in Sept after Labor Day, Not a Lot of People and a Well Kept Beach, People are Friendly and Nice Houses and Condos that are Fairly Priced

By MarioC |

This is the beach locals go. Waterfront is too crowded
It’s not the Caribbean but good sands and water. I don’t like that they charge for parking which ends up being as a user fee.

By mylynn |

My husband and I took a side trip to the beach town of Sandbridge. It is a beautiful, calming town with a great, pristine beach and streets lined with different types of beach homes. The beach is quiet and clean. There is a fishing pier and at the end of town is a wildlife refuge where you can walk along the marshs and see different types of seabirds. There is a good amount of parking for a nominal fee for the day. Just a serene, quiet place to enjoy the beach. Bring a picnic!

By Miracle94 |

Be very Careful when renting their Beach houses!! The pictures of the available house are very deceiving!! They are outdated and inaccurate!! My family got Burned on a rental called Cocktails and Dreams which is on the Back Bay at 3045 Sand Bend Drive. The house was filthy and in need of updates and major repairs!! The cleaning person informed me that she does not Do deep cleaning only surface cleaning!! I had to fight to get the place cleaned including the removing of smelly bed covers and rugs!! There is still Covid!! The yard was full if dog poop. The deck showed age with mold and rotten boards plus splintery peeling paint!! When it rained I thought we had to build another arc for the leakage coming into the house through windows and a door!! The manager is very highly disagreeable woman!!! After much complaining she sent a cleaning crew, had the the mold and filth removed from the decking by having it power washed, and had housekeeping wash the throw rugs and had them buy new bed coverings and rugs! But!! My family and I are on vacation!! The house should be in excellent shape for it’s rented Price!! I should not have had to fight to get the house in livable condition!! Spend your money else where unless you are Sure of your rental!!

By goinback2hi |

So much less commercialized than VA Beach proper. Much quieter and so close to the nature preserve and False Cape state park. Still only a short drive from the other VA Beach attractions and convenient shopping and restaurants.

By jmmaccord |

beautiful unspoiled beach without the high rise hotels etc. If you want a little solitude and a great ocean view visit this area just off season!

By Tina D |

HORRENDOUS... absolutely filthy and many areas inside the house that needed fixing. On the evening of our arrival we could not even unpack because the house was so dirty. We contacted Siebert Reality and complained. They did send a cleaning crew out...however if they had clean the place from top to bottom they would have been there until midnight. We'd had a long 14 hour a day of traveling and just wanted to unpack and unwind. So... We instructed the cleaners just to do the necessities so we could unpack. The next day, Sunday, a very nice helpful chap turned up fixing all the issues we found. The photos are outdated on website, the photos indicate a modern, clean and update to date property to rent near the beach. However the house desperately needs a major makeover and a deep thorough cleaning! Two positives... the beach was a 10-second walk away and having a pool was a major plus.
When we complained to Siebert Reality they were completely 110% UNHELPFUL and didn't give a dam. All they offered was a refund on the cleaning fee...🤷‍♀️.

Look into other properties before renting Dolphin View, check out reviews and do your homework. I would also strongly suggest to NOT go through Siebert Reality, find a different company 😉

By Maxim D |

We enjoyed a nice beach day. We stayed at the waterfront resort which was very convenient. Beach itself was clean. Not lots of people. Water was cold.

By Thomas K |

Rented a house here the house idea was great ...was 13 of us was cheaper than hotels. Had five bedrooms pool own private beach only problem was small crabs everywhere on the beach the boys loved them... The crabs did not bother anyone just they were there

By Adebola B |

I had the opportunity of visiting this place a few hours before I left Virginia. It was a clean and quiet beach. Great place for family relaxation and not rowdy. However, to enjoy the place better it is good to go at sunset.

By Randy S |

5 couples spent a wonderful week at this beautiful modern house facing the ocean at Sandbridge Beach. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and partying. The beds were cozy. The pool table, media room and swimming pool were perfect and access to the beach was simple (I caught 6 fish in the wild surf). Watching the pods of dolphins playing in the waves was one of our favorite pastimes. I cannot imagine a better rental house at Sandbridge Beach than the Sandfiddler!

By daniellY6365Q |

As locals we very, very, seldom go to the Beach on the Va. Beach strip / boardwalk even though we live in Va. Beach especially during the tourist season. However we do go to Sandbridge. There are tourists there too however they are staying in beach houses rather then hi-rise hotels. The beach is kept very clean and safe with life guards and rest rooms, parking, I believe that it is $5.00 / day, It is more rustic with a wildlife preserve close by. There are a few local restaurants, reasonably priced and good but no chain fast foods. Even if you are actually staying on the main Oceanfront of V.B. I'd say it's worth the 1/2+ drive out to Sandbridge Beach and the area at least once to check it out for yourself.

By Amanda M |

Beach had facilities... but they were not well kept. Parking is $5, so not bad. Water is very murky, but sand is kept clean. The sand has a very itchy feel to it.

By JerseyJim7 |

To me this is my favorite beach in Virginia Beach. Lots of locals come here. There.is a fishing pier, good parking, a state park nearby for hiking and fishing. The beach is.not super long like Virginia beach but comfortable.

By Amy RN |

Sandbridge beach is very clean and somewhat private. There are community parking spaces for those who don't live there. Little bummed there weren't a lot of shells but all in all, we enjoyed it!

By Ley74 |

Hard to beat Sandbridge, if you are young ones in tow. Also great for families. If you are a bunch of teenagers out for beach week, this is not for you. Enough said.

By ptjjbailey |

WE visited Sandbridge in mid August for a family vacation. Very nice and quiet area and the beach was not crowded anytime we went. Early mornings it was very deserted and made for a nice time to walk along the water or sit and read. Beach access points were great with the walkways they have built leading to the sand. Definitely a place to visit if you want to stay near Virginia Beach without all the crowds!

By Cad297 |

I have always loved sandbridge beach, it is so peaceful and beautiful. It is a more natural or rough beach but the dolphin views are worth it!

By Josh |

Nice, spacious and quiet beach 30 mins south of VB

Great place to take the family. Surrounded by beach front homes. Quiet and well kept wide beach. Parking is limited near the market so get there early.

Have some friends that go to Sandbridge Beach each summer and wanted to see exactly what it was like. Very nice, quiet area.

Instead of the hustle and bustle of VA Beach, head south to Sandbridge. Not as many places to eat or places of entertainment, it is more just sand and ocean.

Sandbridge Beach has what no other beach in VA has. Peace, clear water and a beautiful beach with no litter! So relaxing!

No development, clean, expansive beach with lifeguards, clean water, large parking space ($4.00 per day) with toilet/washhouses and covered picnic areas. Lots of space because not overflowing!

This is a beautiful beach. The water is great, the restaurants are great, the people are nice, the sand is clean and the waves are awesome. I had never been, but will go many times again.

Clean and gorgeous beach. Lots of sand. Trash cans at the public entrances. Lifeguards that either are there or drive by frequently. Shallow water for a good distance.

This was our first vacation in Virginia. Glad we chose Sandbridge beach. Great place for a family. Beach not crowded, very quiet and safe. Shops,Grocery stores, restaurants and adventures very close, but yet so secluded. Grandkids loved it there. Beach house a little run down and pricey. Will be a bit more selective when looking for beach house there next time. But we really did love Sandbridge.
