3 of 53 Best Attractions in Saratoga Springs

The best jockeys horses and trainers in a park like atmosphere. Even if you have an only minor interest in racing you will enjoy it here. Plus it's in Saratoga which is a town.

Beautiful and vast grounds on two sides of the road. Worth driving by. We were here too early to attend a race but gorgeous!

Was amazed at how large this Race Course is with the majority of the population in a massive picnic area.
The grandstand tickets food and drink are pricey.
Unfortunately there were 14 horses during the 2023 season that had to be euthanized after breaking down during a race and we had to witness a couple of those tragedies.
Race course has a nickname “Graveyard of the favorites” You can know add “Graveyard of thoroughbred race horse!” Sad!

Saratoga Race track is a gem, great crowds updated facility and variety of seating options. You could watch from paddock, tent, club house, boxes or reserve a table to watch from for the day.

This was our first visit to the Saratoga Race Course and we had a fantastic time. We did not purchase advanced tickets for seating so we scoped out the various seating areas when we arrived. Here’s what we learned. If you want to sit in the areas with table seating/dining (The Porch, Turf Terrace, The Backyard), reserve your table in advance. We were put on a waitlist and weren’t called until 2pm. We wanted to sit in a shaded area so we decided on the Clubhouse Reserved Seating, which worked out great. We were in the first row with a great view of the finish line. We recommend sitting as close to section B as possible, we were in section D. Also, if you don’t mind the sun you can sit trackside on benches or stand by the track fence FREE of charge. We loved the vibe and atmosphere of the Saratoga Race Course and, even though we didn’t win, we had a great time and will definitely return!

Attended a business function with access to a suite and a private tour of the grounds. Even got to be in the booth for the call of the 6th race. Didn't place a bet but had a good experience.

Even if you know nothing about horse racing, come to this historical country track for the fun and beauty. You can picnic under the trees, or go upscale in a clubhouse box. The Stretch is a new seating venue which is getting good reviews. Enjoy food ,music, shopping, and of course the magnificent Thoroughbreds! Just bet $2 across the board on your favorite horse! Whatever you end up doing your day will be a winning one at "The Spa"!

I was determined to take my Dad to a turf-side table on our first day, no matter the cost. Booking online through Ticketmaster, the only detail listed is simply “Table Seating.” No mention of dress codes or other restrictions, those come later in an email that’s easy to miss. When we arrived, we were nearly turned away after spending several hundred dollars, until a kind host brought over her manager, Peggy, who completely saved the day and made our weekend unforgettable.
As if that wasn’t enough, a sudden downpour hit just as Peggy arrived, making seating even more chaotic. My Dad, dressed for an 88° August day in shorts, suddenly found himself out of compliance with our section’s dress code. Peggy acted quickly and with incredible composure. She secured us a table on the club side, where shorts were fine, rescheduled our turf-side table for another day, and the food and beverage staff treated us like family the entire time.
I also have to mention a little side discovery that added to our day, the fun promotions and updates at this casino page hopp.bio/topsweeps
gave us some extra excitement and reminded me just how much planning and attention goes into a great track experience. It blended perfectly with the energy at Saratoga and made our visit feel even more special.
Everyone at Saratoga is top-notch, and Peggy’s problem-solving skills are extraordinary. What could have been a stressful situation turned into one of our most memorable track experiences ever. Coming to Saratoga is all about spending quality time with my Dad. Our family has been attending for over 50 years, it’s a true tradition, and thanks to the staff, this year will be one we’ll reminisce about for decades. The track doesn’t just feel lucky, it feels like home, and that’s all thanks to the incredible people running it.

Crowded but fun, food and drinks available, we are not gamblers but stayed for 3 races and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Only stayed for a couple of races but enjoyed our time even though not the most beautiful track. Purchased a program guide for $5, which provided the race lineup and information about betting (multiple options). Several ticket types were available for entry; we purchased the lowest priced tickets - - general admission, which afforded entry, access to the race track and seating on benches just around the track (same level). Races ran every half hour, each for up to several minutes. We watched the horses walk to the starting gate and got excited at the sound of the bell as the horses were let out of it. There was a big screen for viewing the race and a separate score board (viewing on the screen was limited to an extent likely due to camera placement). There was a separate canopy outside the betting area with live music and alcohol vendors. We purchased some draft beers inside the betting area next to the track floor entrance and had fresh, made to order pizza for lunch. There were a number of other fast food and alcohol vendors around the park. I did see a number of visitors with their own coolers, so it seems one can bring outside food, which is a nice option. There seems to be plenty of seating. Overall, a fun experience that is worth, at least, one visit if visiting the area.

This is summer racing at it's best. The grounds are beautiful and the staff polite and helpful. We had issues with our electronic tickets (through ticketmaster) and a wonderful gentleman at the box office figured it out and printed tickets for us so we wouldn't have issues going forward, Can't comment on food since we don't usually eat here. Bring your own water - $6 at the track. But a delightful place to spend your afternoon whether you wager or not.

We sat along the fence where the jockeys ride the horses to the track and then watched the races on a big screen. The two things that would have made it nicer were a bathroom in a closer location and grass or a wooden patio under the big tree where we sat. It started to rain and it became muddy. Yes, we knew the weather was possible showers, but it would make for a much more fun experience to not have dirty shoes, pants and chairs.

It is a great time fun in the sun. If it rains you have cover.I will be attending again this year. Funnnnnn

I used to live in Saratoga and we still go every year. The track is great and it has an option for everyone. Want to spend no money? Pay the $7 entry fee, bring a cooler of food and drinks (no glass allowed), and sit anywhere and watch the huge televisions all around.
Want butler service and valet? They have that too.
My dad and husband will go at 6am every morning to wait to get in and they'll go claim a table. We recommend putting down a tablecloth and tacking it down. If you just put an umbrella on top (which a lot of people do) it's often moved and someone steals the table.
They go home after that or pick up breakfast and we head back at 11ish. It's perfect. The picnic table area is better for kids too. They can move around and there's a little playground so it's nice for everyone to have space.
We've also had reserved and club seats before. Both are great too. You can't go wrong

Beautiful race track, great racing, large crowds add to the excitement. The traditions shown by some of the patrons is nice with the well dressed ladies and men. Reasonable entry fee and pots of parking.
What needs to be improved is the signage regarding seating, an explanation of what you get for paying extra for clubhouse, etc., some restaurants outside the clubhouse area where you can sit and eat - and a reduction in prices - in my opinion the food and drinks are gouging at its finest - if I were to go again I would bring my own drinks and food - the prices being charged are - wow! .

The people that who here at the betting windows (Paul in particular) are patient, professional and make you feel good about placing your bets - even the small ones. We had a lot of fun while losing all but one race and would definitely go again. The website does not help you much by way of choosing where to sit and the differences between each area. I would have preferred, and we would have stayed longer, had we been in the area with food and drink service.

I have been many many times. It used to be nicknamed the August place to be. Then they expanded the racing dates. I have been around the game for a long time. My wife doesn't gamble and she loves it. Just a great atmosphere. you have to experience it at least once. But, I promise, you will go back.....

2nd visit to this historic track, would recommend to horse fans and just as a nice place to stop, tons of history.

Had the opportunity to spend a day at the races. Was truly a great day of great food, drinks, people watching and of course enjoying the horse racing. A great way to spend the day and there is so much history to enjoy as you walk around the race track. Looking forward to my next visit.

Go, go, GO! Stay in town and really soak in all that there is related to this amazing track and sport. $15 pp walking tour every 30 minutes inside by Guest Services - we were the only two on the tour at 11:30 on Sunday. So worth it. Took you to many nooks and crannies you wouldn't otherwise have access to. Also, lots of embedded history and design elements that are easy to overlook. Buy the program for $8 - worth knowing who's racing and some history. Enjoyed going at 8:30 to the Oklahoma track across the street (free, walk in off the street) and hung out on the fence with trainers while they worked the horses in the early morning. Nothing like watching and hearing those hoofs on the ground! DO NOT MISS the free tram tour to the back of the track. Skip breakfast and go on the 7:30 a.m. tour while the horses, jockies and trainers are working out on the real track. It was so good, we did it twice- the second one was at 10;00 and by that time it was in the 90s and the horses had already been worked out. If you are lucky, you'll see them schooling some horses to get out of the gate just feet away. Wear sneaks. It's dusty and muddy. Not recommended for kids who make noise, it is intentionally very relaxed and quiet - no one wants a spooked horse. We stayed for every race one day. In the last 2 races, it was easy to get a spot on the fence by the finish line where you are right next to the winners circle. Watch the jockeys get weighed and you might even be able to photobomb the TV newscasts by standing along side the winners circle!

A very warm day but a great time at the races as the meet was winding down! A grand old wooden grandstand that has betting machines in the boxes! The terminal also serves as a portal for food and drink orders as well as a monitor for the race video. Service was exceptional. Truly fulfilled a bucket list desire.

I am not a die-hard, long-standing horse-racing fan but had a fabulous time at the races. The atmosphere is electric and exciting. In addition to the races, there are shops and food stalls that add to the enjoyment of the experience. This was my first visit to this track and I shall be back in 2022!

The track opened a new section called the stretch- aptly named, because it sits at the very beginning of the grandstand on the final turn. It has a variety of seating options, from booths that can accomodate groups of twelve or more, to individual seating in the bar area....every option features video/internet gaming monitors and waitress service. What I liked best about the stretch, is that security is ever present and redundant- you cannot enter or exit without an arm band, and that you have your own private bar, betting windows and bathroom facilities..the dress code is stepped down to casual, and there is no jacket and tie requirement, so you can be comfortable and still be pampered.
their menu needs improvement and expansion, because it offered limited choices, and ill never get used to paying $10 for a pint of beer, but it was nice to have a safe and secure base of operations to return to after walking around and people watching. Stop by the mac truck and get some pulled pork mac and cheese, and you can hunt down a 24 oz. Coors light draft if you search hard enough...

Saratoga Race Course was the most fun place in town for about 125 years. It is the oldest consecutively run course in the US. We love our horses in Saratoga. Too bad the track is being run by people who are using Saratoga to fund the other NY race tracks. What used to be a family friendly location is being ruined. The fun times watching horses, maybe betting, watching the saddling of the horses are now overly expensive. What was a free seat is now a "charged for": area. The easily affordable $2 admission has been raised to $5 and increased due to popular races. I spent every summer attending the races, betting on races, watching the beautiful horses walk past me or run of the finish. I find it difficult to go and don't enjoy it when i do. The season was the best 28 days of the year and has now been explanded so much that it isn't special any more.

This is a beautiful race track where everyone is free to walk around, see the horses before the races, or bring a picnic lunch and sit at family tables. It can be a long day, so go with someone who isn’t impatient.

Must attend this track. Can bring in all the food and beer (no glass allowed) you desire or can purchase same at a reasonable price. Only racing during July and August. Picnic area or grandstand seating or bring your chairs.

I am not a horse-racing fan but I went and enjoyed my afternoon here. It was an experience to see the serious betters and the fashionably dressed women who were there to be seen. Colorful! Lots of food vendors and souvenir vendors. My only complaint was Grandstand had to be accessed by stairs or escalator. An elevator would have made it easer especially for handicapped people. I even placed a small bet but did not win.

This was our second time here and second time we loved it. You can get in for $7, get a picnic table, bring your own food and drinks (no glass) and dress up or down and everything in between. Or you can get all the food and drinks you want onsight of coarse. Betting is very easy with self bet or plenty of live windows with people that are very helpful and nice. Plenty of TVs outside in the picnic area, but we like to walk up to the rail and watch the races live.

NYRA has really stripped the old time elegance of this race track. They no longer refund the parking fee if you leave after breakfast. The food and beer prices are RIDICULOUS. A sandwich is $23. $5 for a bottle of water. $50 for a picnic table adjacent to the paddock. It’s absolutely disgusting that they’re pricing out the people on a budget.

Don't miss the Saratoga Race Course! It is an excellent spot to meet friends or family in the summer. We always pack a cooler of beer (no glass) and bring food from home to eat. If you come later in the day, bring a chair. If you want a picnic table, be sure to arrive before 7AM to claim one for the day (or earlier on weekends).

Spent one day at track in August. The facility is huge. So many places to wander, in the end we would go to the paddock, place our bets and then find a place on the rail to watch the race.
All vendors and employees were so nice and helpful.

I would highly recommend the 45 min walking tour. It is well worth the $3.00. My mom and I attended the 11:30 tour. At times it was hard to hear our tour guide due to the announcements, however it is part of the racing experience.

What a great town! We stayed at Saratoga Casino. Very elegant . Lots of new slots and virtual caps, roulette. Great shops in the downtown area. Lots to do in this area. Very historic and beautiful in the fall. Nice getaway.

We loved our time at Saratoga Race Track. So much to do besides just watching a horse race. You can watch the horsemen walking the next races horses down the walkway and into the paddock. Great place for the whole family and general admission is only $7 each. Clubhouse Ticket with reserved seating is only $10.

The track is a great place for friends and family alike to spend some time betting or enjoying a beautiful day.

We arrived early and took the tour about the history of the park, quite interesting and worth the few dollars...

Rented out the 1863 club it was fantastic view and cool place to bet with own machine! Mutuel outside the door! Food was okay drinks were awesome. View from 3rd floor great. Week day rental

An absolutely amazing horseracing experience. I hope that senior management never changes a thing about this place. Simply heaven on earth!

A lovely day trip from Lake George. There are so many things to like about visiting! We did the 45 min tour just prior to the first race. Mark was a great and enthusiastic tour guide. We enjoyed a touch of betting and cocktails, and lots of horse gazing, picnicking, and people watching.

As you approach the track people are selling spots in their yards starting at $20 going up $10 each block closer till you reach $100. However there is plentiful FREE parking in “lots” A thru H. With shuttle to a block within of Gate A, entrance to Grandstand. I say “lots” because they are actually grassy (and possibly muddy) fields (ladies, be mindful about your choice of footwear). The School bus shuttle stops at clearly designated stops that are sheltered. 5-10 minutes shuttle ride. Enter the lot at Henning Road and Felicity Street. While all this sounds a bit “iffy,” the really cool part is that you ride thru the horse stables, for a behind-the-scenes glimpse.

Saratoga Race Track Is one of the oldest active race tracks in the country and happens to be located in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Even if you’re not a gambler which I am not, I would highly recommend visiting this attraction if you happen to be in town during the racing season which typically occurs from mid July through September. The track is open every day other than Tuesdays. It’s a great place to visit alone, as a couple, with your family, friends, coworkers, and has something for everybody. You truly feel like you’re a part of history with visiting this race track. A venue that has a track of people for over 100 years.
The landscaping, flowers, loans, and even the track itself are spectacular and worth seeing. There are all kinds of vendors to visit around the grounds of the track including food vendors specializing in Saratoga cuisine.
Highly recommend visiting this historic landmark if you’re in town.

We try to go every year and are never disappointed with our travel back in time. BYOB or have your choice of great brews and spirits. My kids look forward to Shake Shack all year long. All around great day!

The Saratoga race track for thoroughbred horses is a historic landmark. Open since 1863 , Saratoga springs was also a key battle in the American revolution!

great place to see CAUNTION do not bet horses as phony as bologna keep your money in your pocket or go play in the casino

For someone who came as a teenager in the 60’s and is now retired, I have made over 30 trips, all I can say you have to experienced. Words will not do it justice.

Reserved 2 tables at Miller aliteracy Picnic paddock at a cost of 145.00. We did this to insure we could get a picnic table When we arrived at area the tables were so jammed together we could not get cooler through and when you sat at table you back was practically touching the person on table behind you. Thankfully course was not crowded we grabbed a couple of table out under trees. Therefore wasted 100. Plus dollars. Recommend no one should reserve this area. Bonita Colwell

We didn't see any races while we were there, we went early & took the tour over to the barns. If you do the breakfast, eat early & catch one of the free tours to the barns afterwards. Last one leaves at 9:00, and it fills up fast, so the key word is "early!"

Loved this place. Good food, incredible staff, beautiful horses! Parking could be an issue and pricing is high but a day at the Horse Race is a day of fun.

This was our first time ever going to a horse race. we were there for the entertainment and not the betting. We did upgrade from the cheap seats to the grandstand because it was 95 degrees out. It was not crowded on the day we went, so we could actually feel the fans and breeze in the grandstand. My kid did the scavenger hunt and had a great time doing that and winning a little horse. The vendors and artists had amazing finds.

This was my first time. I’m not a gambler, I went for the experience. They have several races a day, 6 days a week, for 6 weeks a year. Each race is about 90 seconds long and there is one every half hour. I was impressed that there were lots of options. You could dress up and pay to sit in the grand stands and watch the horses directly. They had spots where you could stand and watch for free. Or you could pay to enter, bring coolers and chairs, and simply hang out all day in the grass area (tons of TVs to watch the races). Everyone can bet, lots of ways, and cheap. And there are a ton of food options, some in the stadium, some in the grassy picnic area. Plenty of parking, ranging from $5 with a little walk to $20 right outside the gates.

We do a yearly family outing here and enjoy it more and more each year. Used to pack a ton of food, now we just buy from one of the MANY places that are here. Plenty of variety. Mid to high price range as with any sports venue. Playground for kids under 8, although older kids enjoy it also. Great day each time we come.

Novice, fanatic, or anything in between. Beautiful track, great services, easy betting, hanging, chilling, and yelling for the ponies. Enjoy.

Came to this track during the week and was surprised how busy it got by the time we left. It was cool to go to and walk around the grandstand, knowing that this is a pretty old site, and once you got the hang of it, betting was simple.
The aroma of the place though was cigars, cigarettes, and beer. Not quite my style. Also learned about the intricacies of horse racing and drugging of the horses for performance.

Perfect day at the races with a group of friends. We had a well positioned table on the “porch” and not only had unobstructed views of the track but also a prime spot for people watching.
There’s nothing like horse racing and even for the novice the thrill of the race is addictive.
Typical “stadium” food and drink that’s on the pricy side but it’s worth it to have a great day of fun.

Being first-timers, we didn't know we did NOT have to purchase tickets to sit.. or order anything thru Ticketmaster.. You can just pay the admission fee and walk in...You can bring in your own food, chairs, tents, alcohol - just no glass.. or, you can dress up with fancy clothes and hats in sit in exclusive seating... Everything was easy.. all staffers were informative and friendly..

One of America's oldest race tracks. So much charm and picturesque atmosphere. A must visit during the season.

This is the first time I have ever been to a race track and I think I am now spoiled for life! The beauty, history, atmosphere, people, fun and beautiful horses make this an iconic location. Getting here is fairly easy. Parking is a trip: expect to park in someone's back yard and depending on the day and location it could cost anywhere between $5 and $25. I had a rental car and left the keys with the guy managing the "lot". I figured the car was in good hands since there was a Maserati there as well! From there it was a quick walk to the track, we picked up our tickets at Will Call and met up with my husband. We sat in the Club House the first day, The Porch Restaurant the second day, The Turf Terrace the third day. The options for watching races are many starting with a "tailgate" atmosphere outside where you bring your own chairs and picnic and watch on tvs. Outside the track there are a variety of food vendors from brick oven pizza to sausage and peppers. There are also retail vendors specializing in equestrian art, jewelry and clothing and of course-hats! You can bring food and a cooler into the Clubhouse or sit on the benches and open area by the track. There is a good amount of time between races for socializing and if you want, placing your bets. The racetrack and stands are beautiful and well maintained. In addition to watching beautiful horses race, the people watching is excellent. There is a wide variety of folks who come from the average spectator like me to those who come dressed to impress! A visit to Saratoga Race Track is a new annual tradition-can't wait until next year!!

This is the first time I had been in Saratoga during the race season. The track is very exciting and very busy. Lots of food and entertainment and concessions-shopping. You can go up to a corral and see them present the horses for the next race. You could definitely spend all day here. It was so much fun. We ended up going two days in a row.

Amazing the track had a lactation room for my wife and newborn. Really convenient for our trip here!

We travel here each year during race season. It's a great place with so much history. I'm not a horse person, but I love a day at this track. Can't be beat.

Always a treat to go to the Spa!
The experience is special and the energy of the people in attendance along with the best horse racing in the country cant be beat.

A unique experience. You can picnic, bet the races, people watch, and so much more. They have restaurants if you’re not interested in packing. You’ll pay for parking and entrance, but it’s reasonably priced. Don’t forget to try the Big Red Spring while there.

The horse racing is amazing! I love going to the Paddock area to watch the horses get saddled and then watch them all parade to the track. There are a variety of food and drink locations throughout the Park, and live music performances to provide entertainment between races.
Go in the morning to sit in the stands or stand at the rail and watch the horses work out. Breakfast at the Track is a great way to start any day. You can eat there, stop at the on-site Dunkin Donuts which opens at 7 am, or just walk in for free.

Costs me money every time I go there...packed on popular days, but generally well managed and controlled. Lots of professional, some part-timers, some from downstate (who have, apparently) a different work ethic.

It was fun to go and experience horse racing at Saratoga. The people watching was probably the best part. There are lots of food options from something quick to a sit-down restaurant.

There's not much I can say that people who've been there don't already know, but for those who haven't been to Saratoga, you don't realize how historic and beautiful this place really is for horse racing fans. The first time I visited this historic track sold me on the place and haven't missed a yr. since. It doesn't matter if the sun is shining or the rain is pouring, it's always a good day at Saratoga !

August 2019 Grandstand seats costs $44.00 at the box office. If you purchase Grandstand seats through Ticketmaster you will pay a processing fee. Don’t be mistaken that you can watch the races from a Grandstand seat for $7, or $8.

Visiting the race track - especially taking time in the early morning to watch the horses being exercised- is a treat. Then returning in the afternoon to watch the races (& people watching) is the follow-up experience. Would highly recommend, even if you’ve never been to a race track before.

We happened to be in town for a concert AND Opening weekend at the track! I've never been to a track like this and it was really neat to see, even though I know nothing about jorse tracks. Lots of history here, the grounds are beautiful and huge and we won a few bucks! I would definitely go back and plan to read up on this facility and study the ponies a bit before my next trip to Saratoga! I probably wouldn't have even thought about going but we had some time and there was a free shuttle from the Adirondack Inn where we stayed, which is also a really sweet place to stay!

First racetrack experience ever - such a blast! The parking lot was full when we arrived so we parked a ways away and walked maybe 10 minutes to the entrance - nice to stretch our legs. Ticket pricing couldn't be beat, especially because kids 12 & under are free! Read reviews that food was super pricey-it was-so we opted to stop at a Diner beforehand. We were a bit underdressed but didn't feel that we stood out; there was a nice mix of attire in the crowd. Frequent races make for steady entertainment. The horses are gorgeous, and you can see them up close when they're walked down the horse-walk "Man O' War Way" and as they're hosed off by the rail after the races. It's pretty easy to get a spot on the rail as well. Had a great time bidding $2 on the horses we liked, cheering them on, and ended up winning back all we had spent because of Eskimo Kisses, who won the Alabama!!

lol. We have never been to the racetrack and we’re not big gamblers so take that into account. As a days diversion for something to do, it was fun. To go every day or multiple days , you’d have to love horses or be a big gambler.
More fun was talking to some of the people, watching them clutch their racing forms and intently deciding on their next sure thing. I found the people much more interesting than the racing.
I’d go again, sit in the clubhouse, bet a few bucks and just enjoy the spectacle. I might even watch the races. 😀

Great time and fun for the family, horses are amazing and beautiful animals. Track staff were very helpful .

The races are a fantastic experience for all walks of life and all types of groups. If you’ll have a group, have someone go early (like 4 am) to stand in line and get a picnic table reserved. Well worth it to have a spot where you can come and go, bring coolers with food and drinks, and see the horses or watch on the many TVs. (Or go in to watch the race live). If you are in Saratoga and the races are happening you must go! Find parking on someone’s lawn for like $15. General admission is like $7. Bring your own food and drink. Great way to spend the day!

Fun place to visit. The race track and surroundings are just beautiful. Grounds are so well maintained. Concessions are a little pricey but that's to be expected. Overall a very good experience

This has been on our bucket list for a while. We live not far from Churchill Downs and Keeneland and enjoy going to both places, especially Keeneland.
We have a bucket list of tracks to visit. We went to Santa Anita in the spring and enjoyed our visit, despite the controversies at the track. We have looked forward all year to going to Saratoga and was finally able to go there this week.
The weather was great. We were amazed at the large picnic grounds and that people could bring in their own food and drinks. There were many families there enjoying the day. We found a spot near the paddock and loved watching the horses being brought out. We ended up watching the races from the monitors throughout the picnic grounds.
We hope to come back next year in July when the town has its festival during the meet.

I traveled here with a small group of friends for a race weekend in August. We had a blast! Many different types of viewing areas for the races to get whatever you want out of the experience (tailgating, up close standing space, bleacher seating, box seating, etc). This was our first time there and we went into it without much preparation. Here's some advice for those visiting:
- Parking was actually fairly straightforward and $12 for the day. Less than a 10 minute walk to the track.
- Admission is $7 at the gate for general admission, or $5 if you pay online in advance. The advanced tickets sell out though, so we were unable to get this ahead of time.
- Be prepared with supplies! You can buy food and drink at the event, but the people who brought coolers with drinks and snacks looked to be having the most fun! And you can bring them with you inside as long as you're willing to carry/drag it around.
- Spend some time in different locations if you're there with general admission. The space outside of the track is the tailgating crowd. You need to get there EARLY though if you want a table, otherwise you can lurk until someone clears out, but people get extremely possessive over their space, and weren't very polite about sharing even a corner of a table momentarily. Better yet, bring a lawn chair. There are screens for watching the races, but a general party vibe throughout. There's also vendor artwork to check out! Inside the race, get right up to the rail for the best view. There's also seating, but the covered seating is advanced reserved tickets. And then the box seating is for fancy people :-)
- Buy a race booklet and bet on some horses. We found that the staff wasn't super helpful in explaining what was going on, so maybe read up in advance or ask a friendly looking patron for some free advice
- Races are every 30 min, and if you hang out by the rail and are willing to stay standing between races, you can always get a space right up front. A really friendly and fun crowd to hang out with too.
- Check out Saratoga Springs afterwards. The walk is not too far and there's side street parking. Tons of shopping, restaurants, and bars, but if you're looking to have dinner after the races, be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. Beautiful park space too with the springs, statues, and some flowers and wildlife to look at too.

This is a must if you are in Saratoga. First free parking if you dont mind the shuttle to the track. The place is very clean and the staff are freindly and helpful. There is a ton of food selections and prices are not cheap but what you would expect to pay. My favorite is the freshly made pizza from the truck parked outside the track.

We booked a picnic table on the rail where the horses come before going to the track, it's for the riders to saddle up and the horses get walked in the (circle) arena, Lot's of shade trees around the picnic tables. Short walk to actual track and windows. The picnic area is private and your "bracelet" gets you back in to this private area. Bring all your food and drink or buy. Good day guessing who will win. The kids had fun...I won!

Always have a great time at Saratoga Race Track. Great racing, a beautiful park. The employees are friendly and helpful. Not to be missed if in the area.

The Stretch Tour which begins around 7.30 am is good for the whole family. We went there on August 8/5/18 ( 8 adults & 12 kids ) . We had David as our guide, who was really good with the kids and answered all the questions the kids had asked about the horses and the barn . The tour is about one and half hr long. don't forget to take your camera . Gus explained about how the bring the horses to the gate and settle down before the race, He was full of information about that part of the tour. I would definitely recommend this Tour for families who are there for vacation as well as to enjoy the racing season

Been going here for 28 years and the race track is the best of them all!! I have been to tracks all over the world and this is the best of best!

I’m not a horse race bettor, but a visit to beautiful Saratoga Race Track was a must. I recommend taking the 45 min walking tour. It’s only $5. The grounds are magnificent with many activities for both adults and children. I bet the 1st race; a steeple chase event. My Horse is still running. lol
The food options are many.

This was a trip I always wanted to take. A really fun time. A huge crowd.
A really big party. You can bring your own food or get food at several venues at the track. We stayed about 20 minutes away. Much less expensive. The hotels in town are very pricey. Highly recommended.

Planned our 'Bucket List' trip to Saratoga Springs 9 months in advance for the Traver's Weekend. Loved the 'fair' atmosphere of the track... picnic areas and laid back atmosphere of the beautiful grounds. Lots of interesting vendors selling a variety of mementos of Saratoga and the track. We had reserved tickets, but hope to get closer to the finish line for our next visit... and we will return!

This place is not to be missed if you are a racing fan - or just a horse fan like I am. It is huge, so make sure you have comfortable shoes, and be sure to do the morning breakfast and backstretch tour.

We came to Saratoga for a wedding and stayed an extra day for the famous tract. Although I was not too successful at picking horses, we enjoyed the ambiance of the setting and the weather was beautiful. Plenty of inside and outside food venders to get your share of junk food and drink. A fun time.

Lounge seating, dedicated servers, restrooms, betting on screens in the box. 6-8 adults. Highly recommend. In shade.

We try and go to the Saratoga racetrack at least a couple of times a year. It is the most enjoyable day and we look forward to it.
The staff are so friendly and always willing to help you.
The food was great, my husband and I had the pastrami sandwich and our friends had the turkey club. Everything was delicious.
We don’t drive to the racetrack but take a car service instead from our hotel which is so much more convenient and a lot less walking.
We love this historic racetrack and will be coming back many more years to come.

Our group goes the same weekend every year for the Alabama Stakes. The place is wild and we have a great time wagering on the races. We bring a picnic and spend the day
with thousand of really happy people, all having a good time. There is food, music and
great people watching. If you have never been but have thought about it,"GO" you will be hooked

We grabbed food at a local spot and brought it into the park around 7:30 am to watch the horses train in the stands for free. I highly recommend a visit to the track. It was cool being there when it was so quite that you can actually hear the horses.
After that, we took the free tour around the backgrounds. It was a really interesting tour and I learned a ton. It does entail about 1/2 mile of walking on uneven grounds and lasts about an hour. Note - the tours do fill up since they can only take around 40 people at a time.
Finally, if you leave by 10 am you can get a refund for parking making the whole activity free!

What a fun day! The setting is quaint and historic and captures the American spirit of horse racing in a Norman Rockwell setting. The food is nothing to rave about but the excitement of the races surpasses this small exception.
A drive down Union Street will take you back in time.

Love it every year for the past 20+ years! We have always loved that it's a very family-friendly track with quality service. Our kids have grown up with a summer jaunt to the Saratoga Race Course each summer. Silly as it sounds, we find the customer service is so personal, we feel like we've got a friend at the betting window through wins and losses. LOL :) Thank you for a fun day at the races, 2021!

We have been coming to the track for many years. Today, for the first time we got grandstand tickets on our phone. My husband scanned both tickets and proceeded to enter. The nastiest, craziest looking old lady started yelling at him that they had to be scanned one at a time. He said “how was I supposed to know that”? Meanwhile I am at the turnstile unable to enter with a line growing behind me, it was outrageous the way we were treated. Customer Service is clearly not the job for this woman who appeared to be mentally unstable. No signs on how to scan the tickets and a nasty employee to boot. Step it up Saratoga, we will think twice about spending money to be treated so badly

We go every year, when possible, what a great time. There were three couples this year we had such a great time, one of the couples were first timers and they will be back.

Visit for the exciting racing and the race history. Eat at The Turf Terrace and get a great table with a view. You must visit Saratoga at least once in your life. It was heart thumping, terrific racing!

Had so much fun at the track. Remember to bring cash for entry, they don't accept cards. It was $7 when I was there. Also- you can bring your own alcohol and food in, just no glass. Such a cool place that hasn't lost it's charm over the years.

I spent 2 days here in early August. I planned ahead and got seats in the clubhouse. Due to bad weather, I am happy I did. Concessions are pricey but there are a few choices. Restrooms are nearby and so are betting windows. Most of the staff is nice. I really enjoyed watching live racing. Parking was a pain but plan ahead. There are options such as a free lot or you can pay to park at the track.

So much nicer than the sad Looking Belmont Park. It’s a beautiful building and well maintained. Lots of food options. Lots of people. You feel like you can get close to the action here. They can accommodate a large crowd. Lots of parking. We love going to watch the morning workouts.

A great experience! Plenty of betting machines, very clean and huge place. Beautiful place. Kudos to the shuttle bus driver- he was great! Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Nothing special about this raceway and casino. Okay gambling place, has the same slots that all other raceways have. Very poor drink service, practically non existent. We visited the casino twice while staying in Saratoga Springs and both times never saw a drink server.

Another great summer at the track in Saratoga. Always stop for a drink at the Jim Dandy bar. A stop at the paddock to see the horses is a great experience. The track is a must see.

Despite a day of rain showers followed by heat and humidity we had a great time. Highly recommend buying tickets for seating ahead of time. Glad we were in the shaded grandstand. Many options to purchase food and okay to bring in coolers. Many monitors available to watch the races.

We went to bring my son to school Labor Day weekend, so spent a day at the races! It was a lot of fun. It was crowded, but not overwhelming. We sat in the picnic area near where the jockeys and horses came out, so we got to see them up close and personal. You could bring your own coolers and food, and watch the races on the big screen. HIghly recommend it.

This place is amazing! Family friendly and for people of all ages! Make it part of your weekend trip! Friendly staff, great bands, beautiful grounds! And you never know who you will see!

Saratoga Race Course is constantly improving with new eateries and sections you can enjoy the races. The entire establishment has an exciting vibe to it. From the picnic areas, clubhouse, grandstand or paddock areas the energy thrives. Saratoga offer some of the top thoroughbred racing in the world but also some of the best people watching, creative foods, festive atmosphere and just all around good times. You can enjoy an afternoon of fun and socializing on any budget. They offer five star dining or you can bring your own cooler and set up in one of the picnic areas or virtually anything in between. The grounds are very easy to maneuver around and very well staffed if you have any questions. I suggest everyone spend an afternoon at the races just for the unique exciting experience.

Love the entertainment and the street food. Beautiful horses and great for friends to party. Kids love it too.

The 45 minute tour lasted 1 hr as David was so enthusiastic and helpful as a tour leader. Great background and perspectives of the racecourse. Recommendations on where to sit in the various parts of the stands and things to consider as you may place a wager. The $3 tour includes a free pass to the racing museum ($5 value for seniors).

Going to the Saratoga race course has been an annual tradition in my family and it never ceases to disappoint. It is always so much fun and the fair type food is so good. There is something for everyone from babies to the oldies. Admission is $7 for regular adults. I recommend Hattie’s chicken or Druthers for some phenomenal food. It is hot on most days however there is lots of shade and air conditioned seats can be purchased for a higher price. Be prepared for a warm day filled with fun and smiles. Also don’t forget your $$ as there are multiple vendors (food and shopping) on site.

This experience was great. I am not a gambler but the history behind the track and its size were appealing. There are food kiosks. Also do not buy tickets for general admission online. You can purchase there for only 10 dollars. I bought 3rd party online and paid 25 each! The ambience is exciting andyou can literally take chairs and sit on the lawn for the entire day and watch the races on multiple screens. It was one of the highlights of out 5 day visit.

We enjoyed our day at the races! We had been advised to purchase reserved seating as the picnic area is for experienced race goers. We arrived in time to grab some great burgers at Shake Shack, but as they have no seating and it was not a very crowded day due to weather we were able to stand at the high top tables within the tented bar. Our seats were undercover (the middle to end of alphabetic rows) and were great for viewing the races. Many, many employees to assist happily with questions and directions. It was a fun outing!

We visited for the first time in August and loved our experience at the race track. We are not "horse people" other than watching the Triple Crown races on TV in the spring. It is a beautiful place and feels like you have stepped into a part of the past. We did reserve seats in a covered area in the grandstand because of the heat and were glad we had them. We spent time walking around-there is much to see. Races run every half hour beginning at 1:00 but you can get in much earlier than that. Parking was easy and there are shuttle buses. Be sure to walk down to the area near the finish line where you get to see the winning jockey and horse close up. We liked being in Section L because we felt we saw more of the actual race rather than just the finish. There are plenty of places for food and drink. The website has a wealth of information that is very helpful. It was a fun day and we will definitely return.

Belmont Stakes (@ Saratoga) was a good bucket list “check-off”. Saratoga is a neat town with plenty to do! We stayed at the (near-by / 25 mins) Queensbury in Glens Falls which is a nice, well-priced, historic hotel in a great walkable/close to downtown location. Glens Falls, an up & coming town, is also only 20 mins from Lake George.

Since this was our first visit, we discovered what a real family attraction Sunday’s are. Bring your ice chest and lawn chairs, set up near a big screen & the betting windows. The NYRC automated betting system was a little confusing, but we found a kiosk with the most helpful young man. I enjoyed the drinks and the food. I felt everything sold there from the hats, souvenirs and food to be overpriced. Wished I had my own ice chest and packed lunch by days end. Be sure and get a program for the races, place your bets and enjoy! I won at the track by getting to watch the families around me with children and the excitement at every race. We had a wonderful day.

My husband and I had a fun time watching the Horse Races. We took two tours beforehand (one of the stable area and one of the seating area). The tour guides were excellent. Learned so much about the history of Saratoga Springs Race Track and horse racing in general.

This place makes a horse racing a bucket list experience. Wonderful setting... best outback picnic area.. multiple food choices.. beautiful sites and the best horse meet in the country

I’ve been to the track many times but this was the first time going to the At the Rail pavilion. They had a buffet style lunch setup with lots to choose from as well as a great desert selection. It’s great to be able to get to rail just in front of the finish line by walking out of the front door.
A fun afternoon.

Visited from out of town - definitely buy the tickets to get into the clubhouse. The "Turf"....we sat on the 4 floor and had a great view of the finish line. There were 11 of us, Patrick was our waiter and did a great job. The food was ok pub style food - the bloody Mary's were excellent, highly recommend. We had a fun day- we also had access to the Paddock and that was really neat to be up close to the horses and jockeys prior to the race.

We just visited SRC. It was everything a "big" racecourse should be. We parked on the grounds and walked to a gate. We had to pay $7 because the $5 tickets were only available if you buy them online. You can bring your own food/coolers into the track which I highly recommend as everything is super expensive inside. We paid $36 for two 10" pizzas. Races ran every 30 minutes or so. The ritual of watching the horses walk up to get saddled up and then into the track was really fun. The kids loved taking a picture with one of the winning jockeys at the end of the race.
The dress code is a mixed bag. We were traveling so we were just comfy. Others were dressed to impress and it was good people watching.

Love that we live so close the the track that we can visit this beautiful place when ever we want to. Love seeing the beautiful horses work out in the morning and then going back in the afternoon and enjoy with all the people

Beautiful, large park! We love horse races and really loved the outdoor area around this park. You can bring in coolers and really enjoy a full day there on a budget. There's plenty of bars and eateries as well.

We were there for the second day opening- first day was rainy. What a great place. Many food and beverage trucks. We were in the Carousel Area with beverage service. It was a great time by everyone. A hot day but we were in the shade watching the monitors. Between races we would go watch the horses exercise and get ready. such exciting activities, all around.

This was so much fun! We paid for $15 parking on Nelson street and it was a short walk to the entrance. We bought a publication that showed all the horses in all the races - which was helpful so
I could place bets on later races. There was plenty of food vendors and places to get drinks, and ice cream..
Plenty of picnic tables in the shade. Plenty of screens everywhere if you do not want to be in grandstand area.

Historic charming Victorian era track with wonderful atmosphere for a picnic under the trees or from track front seats. A lovely venue for a day of watching some of the best thoroughbred horses in the country

This was our first visit to the racetrack; we came without knowing what to expect. The experience was incredible! We came for Thursday/Friday at friends recommendation to avoid weekend crowds. We had a buffet at the clubhouse restaurant which was excellent, and you get to watch the horses run in the morning. The walking tours were a highlight. We took an early morning stable tour, which takes you to see horses and barns up close, and then a frontside tour to learn about the track history. Our guides were amazing! Our stable tour guide, John, has tremendous insight on the track, horses, and betting know-how, plus a great sense of humor! Our frontside guide, Ben was thoughtful, engaging, and a wealth of knowledge, he knows lots about track mysteries, and even carries racing “silk” fabric with him on tour. They were two of the best tours we’ve ever taken, HIGHLY recommend them both! We had seats in the clubhouse for the day and stayed for about 7 races. You have time between the races to bet a explore the track. If you want to pick a winner, there are several stands that teach you how to bet, we won $52! Saratoga was a great experience, we will be back!

There is virtually no free seating except on a few wooden stands in front so all lawn areas are full of people who brought their own chairs. To face the track you must pay for a seat. To sit at a table you must pay a minimum from $25,per person to $100. Per table and still these areas are not a very nice environment. In general, buildings and other areas have not been kept up. Admission and seating prices are higher than Monmouth Park NJ where there are 8000 free seats and a beautifully maintained complex. Think Saratoga has seen better days.
.

Overall as good as usual with the one exception of people abusing the morning table reserve. People were allowed to snag a half dozen tables at a time and behave as belligerent bullies toward others. Needs some oversight to make it sporting and friendly again

We had fun placing bets on horses. It's a very casual vibe there. We bought seats in the club level which was nice to have shade and a place to sit. The races run all day but we stayed for 5-6 and that was enough to get the feeling of the races. It was a unique experience!

Saratoga has been around since the 1850 s. Great racing with a very nice staff along with food and concerts. A must go to while in this portion of NY

Oldest continuously-raced track in the country. Beautiful surroundings, beautiful town. You must attend the races, and wear your fascinators, ladies!

Best racetrack in the world. Beautiful scenery, great people. We come up every August to get out of the Texas heat and enjoy the Travers Stakes. Absolutely love it. Can't wait to come back.

How is a place like this still allowed to exist?? Such an outdated and barbaric form of “entertainment“. Looking forward to the day when these places are finally shut down.

Went 3 days..So nice to see everyone dressed up on Travers day on Saturday with their hats and fasteners

We arrived early enough to get seats right by the track, and watch horses train. The buffet was plentiful, varied, fresh, and cost less than $20. Why I waited so long to go, I don't know.

We are horse owners and racing fans. We just watched jockey Fabian Prat ride winning horse #2 at Saratoga on 8/11/24.
This jockey was whipping the horse too much. It was painful to watch.
We want the Saratoga Racing Board to put this jockey on notice and discipline him for how mean he was to the horse he was riding.
He won, but at the price of abuse.

We came here with our teens and had fun making dollar bets for a few races. We would have bet on MORE races, but we were clueless about how to proceed, and received conflicting, confusing, and from one gentleman surly responses to our enquirers.
When a dumb tourist like me shows up to take her kids to the races, make it easy for me, ok?
#1 Smile. Maybe you hate your job as a bet taker, or ticket seller, or info person, but I’m your customer. If you turn me off, you will have no job.
#2 Take credit cards, or put more ATMs around. Charging $5 cash only to get a list of the horses running is dumb.
#3 Better signage and first time visitor info would be welcome.

Having now been to this track, I fully understand why it is mentioned in the same sentence with some of the country's greatest sporting venues. Some of that conclusion can be backed up by tangible things, such as the track's beautiful grounds and infield, or the ridiculously picturesque admission gates and ticket booths.
But as is the case with other iconic sporting venues like Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, or Lambeau Field, there is an almost magical quality to the place, something that is tough to even explain but is real nonethless. This is one of those places. Go without a second thought -- it is really that magnificent.

Racetrack still a fun thing to do with friends family and children but the price to get in has gradually raised. I'm not going to complain too much about the price; used to be free then it went to $2 then it went to 5 now its 7 and 10 but honestly it's still a great thing to do with friends family and even children. My daughter even bets and she's 10-- the kids can get close up to the horses and look at them coming in from The Paddock to the track and it's just a great activity. To do in Saratoga along with the restaurants and The Nightlife; summer in Saratoga and the racetrack are synonymous. Most famous horse movies have film the majority of their movie here as well. I want you want to give it 4 and 1/2 stars but there's no way to do it on this system the only thing I'm knocking it down on is really the prices for food and drink inside our little steep but it goes with the territory and the fact that I'm a cheap WOD haha and the gate price has risen

Have been going to this track for years, good family fun. Staff is polite and helpful. Facility is very clean. You can take your own food and drink into the track.

Walking in here is like walking into the racing equivalent of Wrigley field. It has an old fashioned atmosphere. We had made reservations at the Club terrace for lunch and had delicious lobster salad rolls there. Could take unfinished wine into our reserved seats to finish. Seats had great views of the track and walking around people watching was fun also. Went to the paddock to see horses come in before several races. Great fun!

A modern trip to a time gone by. Historic old track is like no other.
Old wooden grandstand is tastfully modernized without losing character

Love going to the track. Very family friendly. Love the trees and picnic tables available. Enjoy being able to take our own food and drink it.

Cheese plate nice, beef on weck horrible, pastrami horrible and tasteless, chips fabulous with guacamole ask for horseradish to spice up. Great staff

It was fun and we were glad to have made the effort to visit and experience this unique piece of Americana. We had tickets for assigned seats in the grandstand. You can bring a small cooler/bag that fits under your seat. Many many folks bring larger coolers and chairs and set up on the grounds. Purchase other food and drink as desired. No glass bottles/containers in your coolers, alcohol allowed. You could just buy an entry ticket and sit at any number of tables or benches with your own refreshments, go to the bandstand rail or down along the racetrack fence at post time to watch the horses go by. If you don't want to be there all day, some folks come later in time for the last series of races that have bigger purses. Have a nice lunch before arriving, see some other sights in Saratoga Springs and then get to the track around 4. Dress is casual, although some do dress up with hats and such. It was hot and humid, so I would say be comfortable.
Parking: we stumbled on the section of free parking (Oklahoma Track side of the street) near a complimentary shuttle that drops you off right across the street from the main entrance. The shuttle runs a continuous loop, every 5 mins. There should be an attendant that can direct you or look for the pop up tent shuttle bus sign. There is an exit/entrance soon after turning on to Henning Rd from Rt 9P Union Rd.

Historic Saratoga Race Course. What else can I say. A great cross-section of humanity watching and batting on the sport of kings.

Amazing experience. Great food, fun and very friendly people! The area was extremely clean and very safe. This is must must experience on everyone's list!!

Very boring experience.....box seats not worth the price.....lacking service...very small area for 5! chairs.....can barely sit 4 people....

As a regular of Churchill Downs, I was extremely impressed! Free parking with a shuttle to the entrance. The grounds were clean and well maintained. Picnic areas have huge tv monitors so you can watch the races from almost anywhere and the staff was friendly! Don’t even get me started on the awesome town, I loved it. Visit the Saratoga Springs Park while you’re here too!

The best horses, trainers and owners are at Saratoga every summer for 40 days of fantastic horse racing. I have attended many times and will return many more times.
The NYRA does a great job with this meet and the history dating back to 1863 is incredible. If you haven’t been there you must add it to your bucket list.

The front side track tour of the grandstand and race course area was excellent. We took the 9:30 tour with Ben and it was very interesting and we learned a lot of information on the history of Saratoga Springs Race Course. We got to see the winners circle, silks room, stewards box and other interesting places.

This is a great track. Seating is excellent and so is service. There are many food options... we had an excellent lobster roll there at Lobster Hut. Of course, I had to have champagne with my lobster too! There are many betting lines so there is never a log wait. This is a really fun time!!!

The hubby and I came here for the afternoon. It’s was so much fun. We were definitely amateurs as we saw a lot of people with coolers and chairs and looked like they really knew how to spend the day here. It was a blast watching the adorable horses. Everyone does their own thing and workers just go with the flow of fun. The only thing I found annoying and unnecessary ( which has nothing to do with the venue itself) were the rediculous protestors when you first come into the venue. They were obnoxious and yelling things about abuse of horses. I can assure you those horses looked to be very pampered and hardly abused. Lol

I've been going to "The Track" since I was a child and still find it exhilarating. There's no where more interesting to people watch and no race track where you can get closer to the horses and watch them parade to the post like you can in Saratoga. The atmosphere is historic and comfortable, but if you want, you can dress up and go to the Club House for a day of luxury.
Mu only issues, that have come up in the past few years are the commercialization of the track with numerous vendors who have set up shop all over the back picnic area, taking away from the family atmosphere and turning it into more of a "fair" sales place. In addition, so many horses have "broken down in the past few years that it has been hard to watch many of the races, seeing these beautiful animals succumb to the rigors of the sport. Whiles we enjoy the race course and all that it has been and continues to be, you should be aware of this before going. You get a lot of "bang for your buck", great entertainment, but be aware.

Our group of 11 included a 6, 4, 3, and infant. We went the Friday before Travers Day and it was not overly crowded thankfully. We got there 10:30 and paid the well worth $12 to park right up front by entrance.
We arrived for the 11 gate open and there were tons of picnic tables still available. There is NO grass for what I was picturing as a 'picnic' area. It was all dirt, but picnic tables everywhere. It didn't start to get too crowded until 2ish, the first races were the easiest to snag a spot right at the rail. There was a tent with kids activities like jockey outfits, puzzles, a rocking horse to ride. The playground was safely enclosed to corral kids and had a fun race theme to it. These activities were great to do between races to keep the kids entertained. How they walk the horses right through the picnic area was also fun for the kids to see. The 1/2 hour between races seemed to fly by and the day had a smooth pace to it. Coolers full of snacks, lunch, drinks, alcohol were all allowed and just had to be quick checked before entering (no glass!).
The track was very clean, and had a mix of the serious betters, families, and the fancy dressed social groups, so no one really feels out of place. Would highly recommend for a family outing while in the area. It's a steal too at $7 to get in, kids free! And if you just picnic and go up to the rail for viewing no dress code!

My family had such an easy day at the track. We used Lake and Track Rentals for our picnic party this year! They will rent all the gear you need to sit outside in the backyard area of the track. Their package includes a tent, table, chairs, and a cooler with ice. They delivered our rentals in the morning and picked them up for us after the last race. All we had to do was show up with our snacks and drinks, and we were able to enjoy a beautiful day at the track! There's nothing quite like relaxing all day with family and friends while you watch the races and check out the beautiful horses. I recommend asking Lake and Track Rentals to set you up near the Paddock area- there are TVs all around and bathrooms close by, and you'll have a good view of the horses getting ready to race. Saratoga Race Course is a MUST for the true Saratoga experience.

This was my first time at the Saratoga Race Course and I was totally shocked how they managed to maintain the old world feel of it as if you were still in the 1950’s. The raceway is truly a blast from the past. When you enter you immediately step back in time.
There are so many places to hang out at during the course of the day. You kind of move around from place to place until you find the place that suits you best. You choices are endless. You can reserve a seat in the grand stand in advance or when you get there. You can also get lunch in the main restaurant and you can stay there all day and watch the races on the large TV’s. There are lots of options outside also. There’s a bar where a lot of people hang out and watch the races on large TV’s or if you’re inclined you can bring chairs and sit under the shady trees and watch the races on one of the huge screens.
We tried a lot of different spots until we found the one we were the coolest at. It was a very hot day and all we were looking for was the coolest place to stay in the shade.
We had an unbelievable time there for 2 days. We didn’t bring home any winnings, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the race course.

All kinds of people find their place at the Race track. Great History, records are made and broken. Come for breakfast and watch the horses practice. Stay for he day.

The horse races were held all weekend and they didn’t disappoint. Some people were winners while may were not so lucky. The one problem is parking so we had the hotel drop us off near the entrance. However to picked up you need to go Gate 8. This reminds of the traveling to the US Open several years ago. The race rain or shine. It’s very busy get here early and stay late.

Visited over the Travers wekend, but not on the Travers Day. Beautiful setting, historic venue, friendly staff. Horses were magnificent, though did not bet. Should be on everyone’s Americana bucket list.

Historic, unique, and an overall wonderful place to visit! This is for horse fans, and non-horse fans, alike!

A race course like no other. There are picnic tables under the trees, clean bathrooms and all the old charm you would imagine. It's as though eveyone is busy making your experience memorable.

This is a great place to go with family or young children. I believe its the most beautiful racetrack in the USA.... even if you don’t like horse racing or the industry, which I don’t, and hate to admit that I’ve gone, the race course has been around and preserved since 1863, which is the time of the Civil War. Much history to learn, if you don’t want to bet, you can go for free any day, before the gates open, they kick out people prior to opening, so you can have stroll around the track. You can watch the horses train in the morning for free, bring your coffee and bagel, or pay for a brunch. There are backstretch tours, again much to do if you don’t want to bet, or see the horses actually race. If you do want to stay for the races, you can go in general admission and sit anywhere on the grounds, they have a clubhouse and the Easy Goer both indoors, which you have to rent in advance for large parties. Saratoga is really a wonderful place, and no matter how you feel about horse racing, its beautiful, much to do around the area, SPAC, Saratoga State Park, the Springs (where you can get bubbly water for free bring a container), downtown, the baths, and the pools. Enjoy, so glad we live close by.

What a fun day. Many folks arrive early to pay $7 and grab the many free picnic tables and free seating. Coolers and chairs are allowed as well. We chose to reserve grandstand seats which was nice as we could see and had shade. There are tons of food and beverage options. This is a wonderful time. First post is 1 PM and you can spend the whole day. Parking is all around track at various price points free to 35 depending on location. Take care as traffic clogs in August to get into lots. Leave time

A beautiful old race track with much ambience!
Everyone should experience this pleasure; the greatest, horses, trainers and jockeys in the country!
The excitement is mind boggling and the food is terrific. Many excellent 5 star resteraunts downtown and there is plenty of night life!
Take it in, you wont be sorry!

Great place to experience racing as it used to be! Make time to do the $3 walking tour offered in the morning, you’ll get to see so many parts of the track you would otherwise miss!

Pleasant Experience! Great restaurant and bar scene just stay away from Sperry’s Restaurant, I’ll spare you the details.

We arrived early Sunday afternoon, and accessed the free parking lot across Union Ave by the training track. Our eventual parking spot was about a mile from the track; it is an easy walk, but courtesy buses are an option.
The lawn was extremely crowded with other patrons at picnic tables or their own chairs. It was easy to find seats in the grandstand with a view of the track. Bathrooms were clean and maintained by attendants.
Multiple windows to place bets (or use the NYRA Bets website/app).
The food and beverage options are plentiful. We brought our food into the course, as many others do with coolers.Th
All staff we encountered were pleasant. Our son's highlight was fist bumping a couple of jockeys as they headed from the Jockey's Room to the Paddock. The windows to the silk room is also attractive.
The only drawback was the occasional waft of smoke (cigar, cigarette, and even marijuana) that blew past us.

You can go to the horse races anywhere but there is only one Saratoga. We visited there recently for a day at the races and were not disappointed. The main gate to the Clubhouse features pavers honoring all the great horses of all time and you immediately know you are in for something special. The track has retained the look and feel of the roots of horse racing from years past and added the modern conveniences of todays modern track. Of course food service might be a bit slow but with the demand and crowds being what they are, it is understandable. We were looking for something special and we got it. Saratoga is a must for your Bucket List if you are a racing fan.

We took a weekend away to the beautiful city of Saratoga Springs. We visited the Saratoga Race Course on a Saturday and had clubhouse seating. The races were entertaining, the horses were magnificent, and a really nice group of people. Parking was close by. There were food and drink vendors. You were able to walk the grounds and see the horses and jockeys up close, when they were coming in and out. The clubhouse seats are under cover, so out of the sun. If you love horse, it is a beautiful race course, and a way to spend a wonderful day.

Finally made it to Saratoga Racetrack. Now I know what everyone has always been talking about. Place is beautiful. Had a great time at The Travers. Wish I had better luck with ponies 🙂,but it was well worth the trip..

This lovely, historic racetrack is a must-see for anyone visiting Upstate New York during the summer racing meet. It's unique in its old-school Eastern charm, and in how much has been preserved. History is clearly important here, and it's nice to see the track has resisted making too many modifications to "update" the facility to satisfy people who are upset by slightly crooked floors and old wood. The beauty and charm of the grandstand and the sprawling grounds make for an exceptional experience. The meet attracts top horses, trainers, and jockeys, so the racing is great. There is a surprisingly good selection of food and drink vendors here as well. The only real downside is the weather. It's just too hot and humid through most of the meet to make it enjoyable to be outside for any length of time. Tip: When you visit, don't miss the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame across the street, as it is truly wonderful!

We purchased reserved tables at the Miller Lite Picnic Tables. What a waste ! It cost $144 and the tables were in the worst location and so crammed in you could not hardly get to your table. This is such a rip off. Rest rooms are so far away and so is all of the food . The TVs to see the races were so small…..in the FREE AREAS the TVs are huge . I am not sure what they were thinking by selling these tables except maybe “ let’s rip off some people ..since there are no refunds given what can they do ?”. Do not book this area.

A fun day at a beautiful track. Historic park, so many nice areas for enjoying the day. It was our first time there. The "regulars" know to bring food and drinks and supplies for the day. We would go back.

We visited Saratoga to attend the Travers Cup Horse races. The race track was lovely, all the staff so friendly, we only went to Maryanne to place our bets who was so patient with our many questions. All hotel rooms in Saratoga were expensive and so we drove an hour south to the Saugerties and stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. Kingston has so many lovely restaurants and we had a delicious sea food dinner at Mariners Harbor.

One of the great historic racetracks! A must see for any racing fan. Saratoga Springs is a great little town with lots of character!

If you’ve never been to a horse track it can be exciting. It was Veterans appreciation day my Husband was able to get in free. However.... it’s pricey. All the vendors are way over priced. For instance a ladies plain floppy straw hat was $68.00. We had sandwich’s at the Lobster Hut, very pricey for a sandwich half the size of a hotdog bun w/ no mayo or anything just lobster cut up and mixed with some sort of dressing, and a small portion of cherry tomato w/feta cheese in pesto ($35.00 for 3 items). Very lovely place to spend the day. Lots of places to bring family an set up a picnic place and see beautiful horses. It’s to see and spend the day. Weather was fantastic. Seems like there is always a lot happening there other than horse racing.

Went to Saratoga Race Track today in the 1863 Rail Club-- I was not impressed. They are trying to get $130 per person on a Sunday. No way would I pay that for what we received. They offered an "1863 Rail Club" experience for $50 and maybe they scaled back on what food they offered us because of the reduced price, but the kitchen was definitely not prepared and they kept running out of anything that was worth having. They had no carved meat stations, no omelets stations -- nothing like what "At the Rail" used to be. The area where the food was served is definitely not big enough to handle the number of people that can fit in the first floor. My husband was told slacks were required-- I cannot begin to tell you how many men were in there wearing casual shorts-- even jeans. They are going to be "hard-pressed" to get the price they are asking unless they step it up at least 10 notches. Also, the 1863 building you have to enter the admissions gate, then exit back out and go around the building even to get in-- very inconvenient! Once you are in the building, it is very nice, air-conditioned and very comfortable. However, and here is the worst part of the whole thing-- there are only two voucher machines on the first floor-- I had to keep exiting the building and going outside to make my bets. Guess y'all can tell-- I AM NOT A FAN OF THE CHANGES!! Sorry, NYRA

Great place for everyone. A one of a kind rack track experience and a lot cheaper than going to a major league baseball game.

Went to the Saratoga horse track and was a good time. Will go back soon!! The track is beautiful and the horses majestic

This racecourse was amazing. It was a combination of 1920 and 2020. Historic setting with modern conveniences.

We did everyting there: sat in club house, went to terrace restaurant, close to the track. Saw a Steeplechase race, met many interesting people and learned all about Saratoga Race Course. Loved the whole experience.

My hubby and I recently took a mid-week jaunt to Saratoga to check out the horse races. Unfortunately, we chose some of the hottest days of the summer. As a late stage cancer patient, my mobility is impaired and I use a walker to get around. Had I done my homework better, I would have definitely brought along a wheelchair as the Race Course grounds cover a lot of property! We were dropped off at the rear entrance by our hotel's shuttle bus. There's a buzz in the air as the grounds are coming alive! We were fortunate to have been dropped off this close to an entrance, as most parking (whether through the race course or via neighbors who rent out spaces) requires a longer walk to get in. Not techy people, it took us a little bit to figure out how to get thru the gates utilizing the tickets that were on or phone (a requirement of purchasing in advance from Ticketmaster), but we succeeded. We were definitely treated MUCH BETTER when the course workers thought we were going to the pricier seats (and that entrance is nicer). Once they realized we were "only" going to the Grandstand, their eagerness to assist was less than stellar. Given assistance provided by other TripAdvisor pals, I knew to purchase tickets in the Grandstand, Row M or higher so that we had shade (which came in VERY handy due to the HOT sun and mid-afternoon rainstorm.) Gaining access to the seat required walking up or down a rather steep stairway, and the handrail ran out prior to reaching the seat. This left me somewhat "stuck" in my seat, until after an arduous climb up to the bathroom, I decided to seek permission (which was readily granted as the track was not full mid-week) to stay in a seat at the top of the row, thereby avoiding the steps. There are escalators and elevators at the race course, but they are few and far between. Plus, you can't bring canes/walkers on the escalator for safety's sake. I would recommend anyone with even a mild handicap do their homework and plan accordingly. Had I been more mobile, I would have loved to look around the facility and check out all of the interesting booths. The site itself was very well-kept and you truly felt like you were taking a step back in time. The bathroom were old, but sufficient. There was a woman sitting at a table in the Ladies Room handing out paper towels (and I would assume tidying up the place), I regretted I had no money in my pocket with which to tip her. We stayed for about ten races, thoroughly enjoyed cold brews and a foot long hot dog, and pretty much broke even money-wise (a win in my book). Saratoga Race Course provides a variety of viewing venues and would be a great spot for a family trip to the races.

We visited on a very hot and humid Sunday afternoon. We arrived via hotel shuttle so parking was of no concern. On the ground level there is a large variety of food and beverage choices, a picnic area and various choices for enjoying your time. We had clubhouse access, which meant shorts and T- shirts were acceptable. Other areas required a more formal dress code. The clubhouse is under roof but outdoors (no air conditioning). We sat in the back area on a bench with no view of the track, because there was a nice breeze to help keep us cool. When a race was about to start, we simply walked to the front and watched the race. If you leave something on your seat, we left our program, nobody will steal your seat. That is an unwritten rule of the track. They run three types of races, dirt, turf and steeplechase. Overall it was a fun afternoon.

The race track has been ruined by all the commercial industry that they have put into the historical venue. We paid for tickets for "the Stretch". The seats were good, but the price was way too high for the card filled days. We could not afford to go on those days. The food in that section was horrible. The French fries were very bland. I am not sure if they even had a real chef on site to make those. It really did not taste like it. They were very disappointing, after they praised them so much. The drinks were over priced and were not made properly. The bartender had no clue how to make any kind of drink. They put vodka and lemonade in a tiny cup and charged $14 for it. Also, they only had one waitress working the entire area. Hire more and the right people. You have a ton of security guards who can't run two feet without getting out of breathe and are 100 years old. Hire some of them to help her out.
The track's history is ruined. Customers are mean. One person stole my seat, when I went to the rest room. They threw my pizza on the ground. People need to learn manners and respect their fellow person. The people are rude and it is clearly obvious that all the vendors and staff only care about money. What happened to the times were all people, no matter what salary they make could enjoy the race track? That is gone. You must be well off and have at least $100 before you even enter the race course. You must have a ton of extra money to attend the race track now. They even raised the cost of admission this year. My husband and I will never attend the race course ever again. The charm of the entire venue is gone.

First time experience. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Grandstand seating can be purchased for individuals who prefer a dedicated seat. Very fun day even if you only bet a few dollars on a horse.

We had an awesome three days at the Race Course. Could not get over how friendly people were. The prices weren't even 1/2 of what we expected. There were helpful people all over the property. If you are a racing fanatic this is a must see. Beautiful tree covered picnic areas, the tracks were unbelievable - in as good of shape as could be expected considering all the rain in the area. Saw people from0000 polo shirts and shorts up to suit & ties, dresses and hats. Plenty of food and drink booths, bathrooms all seemed to be kept clean and there were several throughout the site. Live entertainment outside of the grandstand. Met people from all over, Brooklyn, Boston, Ireland, California. The experience is what you make it!

As a seasoned visitor to the track, we were not impressed with the new ticketing prices. They claim that doing away with the traditional grandstand and clubhouse entrance fees, they provide fair access to the track for one low price of $10 per person. This may sound great, but it merely gives you access to full sun bench seats trackside. Looking behind us at the partially filled stands felt wrong. You can sit there but need to spend yet another $30 upwards to several hundred for the inside seat. Third party vendors purchase available seats and then resell them to you at obscene prices. It just felt wrong that such a beautiful historic landmark, a place I always loved to visit has gone this route. The place itself is amazing and watching the horses is exciting but knowing this takes place saddens me.
We had the breakfast on the terrace which was a typical hotel buffet breakfast. The price was reasonable for the atmosphere of watching the horses. The staff was very friendly and courteous which added to our enjoyment. Following breakfast, we took a backstretch tour which was entertaining as well as educational. The guide was great and appeared to really love what he was doing. Again, the staff made the day worthwhile.
After breakfast and our tour, we had an hour wait before the track opened. We decided to venture inside with a bunch of others looking for a shaded spot to sit until it officially opened at 11:00. We were shouted at to "get out!" as the track was officially closed at 10:00. This wasn't something we were aware of, and his hostility seemed unnecessary. We were directly behind a family with small children so were taken aback. This may be the training security is given as no other member of the staff was rude or disrespectful.
If you are going for an exceptional day in a historic venue and have never been there, this would be a wonderful place to visit. For me, it just wasn't the same Saratoga because of the new pricing and seating. Food and drinks have always been outrageous but understandable. The seating though...not for me.

Spent the day at the track picnic area yesterday, everyone really enjoyed the day, there is a small park for the kids with slides and stuff, nice big screen in area in case your not up to walking down to see the race live, only bad thing about the day is we didn't win any money.

Races season is around Aug -Sep, entrance fee is as few dollars and go up according to reserved seat or booth; you can place bets in each race and it is certainly make it more interesting and get you involved; people/ families come for few hours and bring their food and alcohol ...
Fun time

I really enjoyed our experience inside of the race track. The club seating was very nice and well maintained, the staff was friendly, and there were a lot of very good food options in the track. The issue we had was outside in the parking lot. They “sold out” of handicap parking. They then made us park with our handicap placard about a mile walk away from the gates. They offered no golf cart transportation or anything. They apparently need to expand their handicap parking, as I saw many elderly people walking in this way with us with canes and walkers! This is not handicap accessible in any means! The person in our party was in pain all day because of this. Also, the “handicap” section was tiny and I’m not sure how you can legally “sell out” of handicap parking.

This place is very family-friendly and has picnic tables and kids parks and then you have the place I love, the bar and the betting windows. When you are going get the saratoga classic at the bar, it is delish!!

Can’t believe we’ve waited so long to visit. What a beautiful racecourse. Will surely return. We had reserved Grandstand seats through Ticketmaster. Probably could have purchased that day as track was not crowded. Everyone there was so helpful and kind. We had lobster rolls which weren’t the greatest. Think I would bring my own food next time.

We love going to the Track! We go as often as we can. If I could change one thing, I’d have a separate picnic area for smokers. SPAC has been able to do it. It’d be nice to NYRA get on board too.

Beautiful day at the races with friends in beautiful Saratoga Springs NY. Weather was perfect and workers at the track were very professional. Various restaurants and numerous ways to bet on betting screens was very good. Will definitely go back and highly recommend to everyone.

We spent the day in the clubhouse! It is absolutely wonderful. There was a breeze, and sitting so close was like being at the fence! The venue of food in the clubhouse is a step up from the grand stand. I would choose a seat in J or K, as L had some blockage problems with Screens!

First time there. Amazed at the number of cars parked in the adjacent family residential areas. On lawns everywhere!
Everyone was trying to get cars and the $$!
The park was a family gathering place with hundreds of people picnicking under trees and watching races on tvs mounted on trees.
The races were very interesting as I had never seen races in person. Lots of tvs to watch and replays.
I donated $$$
A very enjoyable experience and one I’d recommend!!

This is the second year I have attend the Travers Stakes at Saratoga, and it was even better this year. A very old and nice venue.

Clearly the 'place to be' in upstate NY in August. Went on a Saturday and arrived early so as to not be shut out. Entry to the park was easy and cheap. Sat right next to the railing and was able to get a great view. Racetrack is old and nicely kept. Plenty of opportunity for food and drink but most took advantage of BYOB and created their own party atmosphere. I should have done my homework in advance and did as many others in bringing in food and refreshments.

We spent two days visiting the track for the horse racing, and another morning for the breakfast and tours. First, the negatives - the reserved seating is pricey. The food and drink options are limited at their restaurants and bars, and they are also pricey. The food and drinks that we had were good though. The specialty drinks at the Porch by the paddock were the best.
The atmosphere is exciting, and there is a buzz all around the track property. The picnic grounds and the number of people making a day of it was something to see. As the track allows you to bring in coolers, most people packed in their own food and beverages. Even in the reserved covered grandstand seats, people had small coolers with beer and wine in them. What a great way to offset the high prices.
Our first day, we had a table in the Four Star Dave Bar. It was great to have a designated place to use as our base. The service was attentive, but sometimes a bit slow as there were only three servers for the entire area. Their were betting windows near the bar and plenty of tvs for watching the races. It was easy for us to walk outside to the track to watch the races live.
Our second day, we had reserved grandstand seats. Being under cover in the shade made it worthwhile. We had a good view of the track, and it easy to access the betting windows, concessions, etc.
Our morning visit was for breakfast trackside and a tour to a local horse farm. This package must be booked well in advance online. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We sat near the rail and were able to watch the horses during their workouts. Then, we boarded a shuttle to the farm and had a great visit to Old Tavern Farm.
While at breakfast, we learned that there were also tours of the track available. After visiting the farm, we had time for the track tour prior to the racing. The tour walked all over the property and pointed out many things that we had missed in our previous days at the races. We even got to go stand in the Winner's Circle.

I have heard how awesome Saratoga Race Course is and now that I have experienced it I cannot say enough. This place is beautiful and so historic. I will definitely return there again.

I was absolutely thrilled to be able to go to Saratoga Race Course for my first time for the Travers Stakes. It was very enjoyable. Much less the circus atmosphere of Churchill Downs. I know it's much smaller, but still. Kentucky Derby about did me in.

For parking, if you cannot get free parking on the street, suggest you find parking just outside the main entrance (won’t be too far a walk).
We were there with a fairly large group of people and were fortunate to have some great organizers who saved us a few picnic tables near trees and right by the path where the horses passes by to and from the track. Note: gate opens at 7 am to save a table. Bring a table cloth and clips and remember where it is.
Our lunch was catered which was great (barbecue by a local place) and there were plenty of refreshments. You can bring your own beverages in plastic bottles (no glass allowed).
There are plenty of clean bathrooms.
If being out in the sun does not appeal to you, you can take refuge in the building where the grandstands are.
There are plenty of options for meals and snacks but it was quite pricey.
You can spend the day watching the races, placing bets and people watching. Lovely to see folks dress up and the ladies with their fascinators.
If planned properly, is a nice day out with friends or family. Definitely recommend this experience.

Very disabled UNfriendly. Changed handicapped parking from across the street to ONLY a paid facility, which seems discriminatory. Have a "drop-off" zone as if individuals with disabilities can't be the driver.
Questions to staff could not be answered.

I set up my picnic spot at 7:30. Came back at noon for a day at the races. We had a blast. Surrounded by people relaxing and having fun. I swear no one is crabby at the Spa. Everyone is courteous and helpful. We bring our cooler with drinks and food for the day.

Annual trip to Saratoga Race Course . Never disappoints. Love everything about this place . Old school and very comfortable . Like going back in time . Love the fact they allow you to bring your own alcohol inside the track .

We went to the track early for the free tram / walking tour of the "backstretch". It was worth skipping breakfast for. If you go, you should go as early as possible, because the number horses going out onto the track to exercise diminishes significantly after 8:30. Everyone at the track was friendly and helpful. We spent the whole day and look forward to another visit.

Not really a racetrack. Saratoga is a happening with a carnival atmosphere with live bands and numerous other forms of entertainment. On weekends it is impossible to move even a few feet without bumping into someone. If this is what you are after, then it offers great value despite the high food and drink prices. As a place to bet and watch horse racing it falls flat on its face. Betting machines do not, for the most part, accept money and it is hell to even get a betting voucher. Seating somewhere where you can see a race is crazy difficult and most people watch the race on tv monitors. God help you if a betting machine malfunctions and does not return your voucher. Helpful employees are few and hard to find and there is no help for the novice who does not know how to use the betting machines. As to the racing itself, on weekdays fields are very small and the racing is very poor. The NYRA allows trainers to scratch horses at will and if it rains, turf racing is moved to the dirt and small fields become even smaller.

Terrific! Watched the horses working out and learned so much. Free one hour tour
and great guide. Learned about the trainers as well

Hello whoever is reading this.
Today is august august 17th 2022.
My fiancé and I went to the track just to enjoy a fun day per usual and at the end of the day after my fiancé won MULTIPLE races, he went to go get his money from the machine and same thing that happened last year, it wasn't working. after talking to multiple employees to try and get our money back, they called over a manager. I unfortunately could not get the name but he was an older guy in his 60s and he literally SHOVED my fiancé to the point where he fell on the ground. I told a cop after but I can not even believe an employee would ever put their hands on a customer. guy should lose his job what a loser. he's lucky I wasn't recording the whole thing on my phone.

Here visiting with friends after a golf match at Saratoga Spa course. This track is tucked into a neighborhood area but we had no trouble finding parking. This is an old historic track with period horse stables located nearby. Once inside it was easy to get around. My only complaint is that no deck seating is available if you are wearing shorts. Other than that the drinks were reasonably priced and the racing was very organized. Great time.

We spend two nights a year in Saratoga and go to the track. We like to go Sunday and Monday because it's a little less crowded. The 6 week season attracts the best horses, jockeys and trainers in the country. It is like going to a fair that also has horse racing. There are thousands of people that go to the shaded picnic area. There are many vendors. We buy Clubhouse tickets on StubHub and have nice seats that usually go for about $30-$40 each which includes admission. If you get there a little early you can find a free parking spot a quarter to half mile north of the track. The experience is expensive but worth it.

So in love with Saratoga Race Course! It’s absolutely beautiful and the staff is amazing! Staff goes out of their way to make sure you’re having a good experience! I highly recommend both tours! The free one will take you to the back of the track where the stables are, the one that costs $3.00 will show you the front. So informative and fun!

My wife and I had a great time our first visit to Saratoga on Travers Day 2019.
Not knowing what to expect, we arrived at 9:30am and didn't leave until right after the Travers, the 11th race. This allowed us to place our bets early and avoid the long lines. We ended up in the black to the tune of $100, thanks to hitting on a 15-1 longshot in the seven race.
The facility is nice, but the food is both atrocious and expensive. Because we couldn't see the horses while sitting/standing at track level, we plan to score grandstand seating for next year's Travers,

The history, the ambiance, the breathtaking grounds, the cascading geraniums, and other foliage from window planters everywhere, the food and drinks, the people watching, and oh yes, the magnicicent horses---what a perfect day!!!

Wow! I didn't know what to expect when I decided to spend the day at the races with my family. It exceeded my expectations! I did a lot of research and we all ended up having a fantastic day! Here are my top 4 tips and the highlights of this review:
1. Avoid parking and take the free trolley.
2. Spend the money to rent a table in the Miller Light Pavilion.
3. Pack a cooler with lunch & drinks.
4. Attend the races on a Monday with the kids.
First of all, everyone should experience the races at least once! Racing is a time honored tradition at Saratoga. We visited the races with three kids, ages 12, 10 & 4. We also had my 70 yo parents with us. We decided to avoid the nightmare parking by hopping on the free trolley. The trolley map and schedule is easy to follow. We accidentally waited on the wrong side of the road for the trolley and the driver saw us and waited for us to cross the street. It was a nice air conditioned experience with a kind driver and fun passengers.
My family likes to have a meeting place and then we wander around. My husband went to get a cigar and to place bets. The kids wanted to check out the kids activities. Because of this, I rented a picnic table in the Miller Light Pavilion. It was right next to the paddock where the horses are prepped for the races. My toddler was delighted to see the horses up close! The picnic area was filled with families and nice groups of people. It was quiet too. We paid $50 to rent the table for the day. The $50 included the $5 race admission and space for six people. (Children under five don't count.) There are free tables and free spaces, however, you must arrive very early on race day to "reserve" a spot with your belongings, and then you need to return later for the races. That's too much work for my busy family, but it may be better for you if you like to save money! (Other reviewers chronicled their experiences with that type of visit.) I called the day of the races to reserve a table and I requested a shady spot. I picked up the tickets at Will Call and we received entry bracelets at the Pavilion. When we wanted to watch the races, we walked to the rail at the grandstand when they rung the bell, or we watched on one of the multiple screens located around the Miller Light Pavilion area or throughout the park.
I was surprised to learn that coolers are permitted at the track. Pack a family cooler! You'll save a ton of money by bringing your own lunch & drinks. They don't allow glass bottles, but you can bring in plastic & cans. You can bring in alcohol too!
Finally, attend the races on a Monday. There was a Coca Cola Pavilion with tons of free or very low cost children's activities. The only things that cost money were provided by a local PTA. There were free crafts and a photo booth from Berkshire Bank, foosball, yard Connect Four, bounce houses, and other fun things. Nearby there was a meet & greet with a horse. It was a great opportunity for a photo-op or to ask questions. There's also a nice little playground in the Berkshire Bank Pavilion. We wandered around and discovered other places for the kids to make crafts or to play. It was a wonderful family experience!
Overall, everyone had a great day! We discovered many exciting things at the races. The race course is clean, well maintained, and very secure. There are security guards everywhere. We opted for a casual experience, but there are many ways to enjoy the park. The causal experience felt like upscale tailgating. Even though we did a casual day, we dressed a bit nicer. The boys & men wore polo shirts and the girls & women wore sundresses. Most attendees at the track were dressed similarly. If I had to complain about anything, it might be the smoking. People can smoke pretty much anywhere at the track. Check out the races, and bring your family! You'll have a great day!

Saratoga is unlike any other race track. It is the oldest track in North America. The grounds are magnificent with many areas that have picnic tables if you would rather relax outside of the track. The main building has some new amenities but it smells of the days of yesteryear when the high rollers would take The Saratoga Trunk railroad from New York to Saratoga. The best horses in the world come here to race. You can get right next to the horses, owners, trainers and jockeys when they are in the saddling area which is a horse walking area just outside the main track. There are several different seating areas inside the track. We prefer The Turf Terrace a 3 level area with table service and very good dining where you can sit and eat and drink all day while watching the races. There is nothing like Saratoga for “A Day at the Races.”

Saeatoga race course throws you back to another time and place hard to. relieve this racetrack attracts the best thoroughbred racehorses, trainers and jockeys competing every summer for millions in prize money

After my first trip to the race course I was hooked. My wife and I always enjoy a day at the track. From watching beautiful horses to having an excellent assortment of food the day provides a wonderful diversion.from the norm. If you have never been I highly recommend a day at the races.

Enjoyed the Horse Racing. Seating very expensive in Club House. $48 just to rent a table and must spend $25 per person to dine or drink. Parking was suppose to be free but was charged $12

Took this trip 9 years ago and go back every year. Very friendly staff in a comfortable setting. Beautiful thoroughbred race horses to see and nice area to tour and try many different restaurants.

Fun day at the track. Came out $30 down on the day but that’s a win in my book. Wish I remembered not to follow the paper program for odds and just looked at the electronic board. I would have came out ahead if not but for my first race my gauge of the odds was using stale data.

I have been to Monmouth Park, Del Mar, Belmont, Aqueduct, Meadowlands, Laurel Park, Fair Grounds, and Delaware Park, but nothing compares to Saratoga. It is the best track in the country. The retro feeling and the stepping back in time feel it gives is one of a kind. While the concessions are a bit pricey, the experience and best thoroughbred racing cannot be matched. Any horse racing fan must visit this place. The town is magnificent and there are many nice places to find get something to eat.

We went on opening day . Was not as crowded as we thought
It would be. Everyone was very friendly. We took a walking tour of the track. The guides Dave & Linda were very knowledgeable
& gave a thorough tour of the facility. Also gave us a good tip about saving a good spot to sit at for the day. Would recommend the tour.

I basically grew up at the track. It is the best track in the country, if not the world. You can go on a picnic setup or to the high end at the clubhouse.

Definitely worth going out of your way to see some races at the historic track. If nothing else, it is a marvel to watch these horses do their thing.

Saratoga is a greatplace for the races. Plenty on betting windows, food and drink services. Just a beautiful place to go to races. Quality of racing is excellent. A great day of entertainment.

We visited this track on the final
day of the season. We went early to stand by the rails and watch the workouts without issues.
We took our pictures, got to siesk to several jockeys in Spanish and watch the beauty of horse and man working together
There were no fees, easy parking and
A casual sir or expectation. In shorter was great

I have been going to the Saratoga Race Track meet for at least the past 20 years. I go at least 2 to 3 times each summer. It is the oldest horse race track in the country. Their annual meet is short compared to the racing dates of most other tracks. It runs for the month of August usually including the last week of July and into a little bit of Sept ending Labor Day weekend. This meet attracts the World's best jockeys, trainers, and the World's best horses. The atmosphere brings the day's experience above and beyond that of any other track in this country and I have been to many of them. If you haven't been to other tracks you can't really appreciate what this track is. You walk among the horse owners, trainers, and jockeys. There are Jazz Bands and Dixie Land Bands playing on the grounds all day. If you go and have the opportunity to go "Backside" in the very early morning and watch the hundreds of horses being worked out on the track, you will find it to be the most peaceful, pleasant and enjoyable experience. It is my "Heaven on Earth". This is all without even mentioning the beautiful and historical "Downtown" Saratoga with a throw-back Main St. loaded with shops and restaurants.

Saratoga has the best track anywhere! End of story! This is such a cheap and fun day. You can dress up and sit in the grand stand or you can wear shorts and BYOB! Both options work. It’s super fun and sometimes you even win money 😄

Never thought we would enjoy this stop so much since my wife and I knew little to nothing about horse racing and betting. The entire experience and ambiance is not to be missed. We even came back early the following morning and did the tram tour to the back stretch. Bonus addition that really gives you a feel for everything involved.

Everything is spectacular. The town ,the race course ,the entertainment and restaurants .
The track is amazing .Fees suit every budget . Early morning training is my favorite .Starts at 4.30 but after a few hours of watching the training one can eat breakfast next to the track. The Museum is great -fabulous really. Many of the houses are 100-150 yrs old . Only negative thing is the cost of lodging.

We had a most enjoyable day at the Saratoga Race Course. Parking was convenient and entry into the venue was efficient. There were numerous dining options- albeit pricey. Betting windows were well staff and lines were short. It is a lovely track.

The food and beverage team at Saratoga Racetrack are the absolute best! Also, disclaimer: booking through Ticketmaster instead of Guest Services could come with surprises. I recommend calling to purchase so you don't end up finding out about a dress code for you section while you already at the track! I was set on taking my Dad to a turf (track) side table our first day, whatever the cost. When booking any turf side table through Ticketmaster online, the only detail listed under “Description” given prior to booking is: “Table Seating.” Apparently an email is sent after the fact detailing a dress code which Ticketmaster does not even mention to look for when booking.
To our surprise, when we arrived to get our table, we were almost turned away completely, after spending several hundreds on the table, until a sweet host station staff member got her manager, Peggy, who absolutely saved the day and made our whole weekend! Just as she arrived a torrential downpour hit to make the table situation even more chaotic, as anyone without outside tables were moving in and, because it was an 88° August day, my dad was wearing shorts, which was not within our section's dress code.
Peggy quickly turned around a nightmare into one of our most memorable experiences at the track! She was able to get us a table on the other side of dinning, club side, where shorts were accepted, we were able to reschedule our turf side table for another day and the food and beverage staff just took care of us like we were family! Everyone there is just top-tier and exceptional in every way!
The incredible compassion of the staff here is why I believe Saratoga Racetrack is the luckiest track on earth and in my experience, I think that starts with truly great management with Peggy! Crisis management and problem solving seemed second nature to her and what could’ve been a terrible experience was one of our best yet. Coming to Saratoga, for me, is all about my dad and I really wanted to make sure he had a great time. My family has been coming to Saratoga for literally over 50 years, it’s become a generational tradition, and this year will be one we talk about for years to come!

This is an experience and great fun! This was my first time going to the horse races and did not disappoint. Such a great time.

Saratoga Race Course is just about perfect. We have gone almost every year for 10 years and it’s the highlight of the summer.
There is something for everyone, even the kids in the kids playground area. The races are so much fun and there are TVs or go right to the line.
You can also spend as much or as little as you want. Food and drinks can be bought in or you can come in encumbered and just buy stuff at the track.
I recommend getting to the track at around 6:30:6:45am to secure a shaded picnic table. Simply put a tablecloth down and remember where it is for later. I do not recommend paying for the Pick 6 picnic paddock. Tables are mostly in the sun and it’s pricey.

We just spent the past three days going to the track. What an incredible atmosphere, especially on Whitney Day. Thousands of people picnicking, dressing to the nines, and enjoying racing. The ability to get right up to the horses and jockeys is pretty cool. I recommend a day at Saratoga Racetrack for every race enthusiast.

Even though I only get to the track once a year, I just love watching the horses race. One of the prettiest tracks with plenty of food options and family friendly.

This review is about the Saratoga Race Course Walking Tour. We took the walking tour with our guide Dave on a Saturday morning. We arrived a few minutes late for our tour because we couldn't locate the starting point. Dave was gracious enough to take my son and I on our own tour. The tour was so informative and interesting. Dave made it fun adding some humor to it as well. It was great. I would very highly recommend taking the walking tour, especially one of the earlier times before the race course actually opens, because it's great that not many people are around. Highly recommend. And thank you Dave, for a fantastic tour!!

Place is like a fine Wine, it just gets better and better! 1863 suites are an unreal way to see the sport of kings! Love the new paddock edifice too. It truly is the Summer place to be!

The world of horse racing is another world from the world I live in. It was worth it just for the experience. Sure, the food prices were high, but that was really the only thing; that is to be expected at one of those locations. All the staff were very friendly. We arrived super early so we could park on the street, and just soaked in the experience of a race track. It had rained the day before and even rained the day we were there so there were a lot of scratches, but we did see horses race and we did bet and we broke even so it was overall just a lovely time.

Had a ticket for seating in the Stretch. Waitress was very attentive and informative about Saratoga history and other things to do. Seating was nice with a nice view of the track. Bathrooms were clean and no lines. From security to employees of Saratoga everyone was helpful and pleasant. Unfortunately the day was rained out after the 4th race. Pre-paid my parking which was easy in and out.

A wonderful 4-ish hours for our family of 5. (Mom, Dad, sons aged 15, 13, 10)
The thing that made our day a 5-star experience was definitely, without question, the walking tour we took early in the day. Mark was our tour guide and was excellent. The tour is a comprehensive overview of the track, horses, jockeys, winners circle, track traditions, routines, and more.
The walking tour is WELL WORTH IT for anyone visiting Saratoga. It starts at Guest Services (when facing the track from outside, all the way to the right). Tours are cash only ($15 for adults; 12 and under free) and ours lasted about 45 minutes. We asked a lot of questions and our guide, Mark, answered them all and more.
I recommend doing the tour before the first race so you have an idea of what to expect and when. We were newbies to the track and it was very helpful in setting the tone for our day.
Bring a cooler with drinks, and snacks. There are plenty of picnic tables outside but arrive on the early side (11am or earlier?) for the best spot. Next time I'll bring a plastic table cloth. We did not have a tablecloth but it was still okay. Many people use tablecloths to save their spot.
Our visit was on a Thursday and it was not extremely busy. Before each race we were able to watch the horses walk to the paddock, then walk to the paddock area to see pre-race preparations, and then walk to either the track apron or grand stand ahead of each race.
(We would not have known this routine or certain things to look for had it not been for our tour!)
We saw 4 races. Bet a total of $4, just for fun. Didn't win anything. Still a very, very fun experience. We do not live locally but hope to make it back another time. This was very eye opening and enjoyable! Highly recommend!

Yes, national treasure, New York treasure - but not what we were expecting. We had tickets at the Turf Terrace. Very old, dirty, and crowded. Food was just mediocre. Due to Covid and the whole world not having the staff to service venues such Saratoga Springs Race Track, service was "on and off". May I mention that you can call Saratoga Springs Race Track directly and ask for sales to purchase you tickets to the Turf Terrace and other restaurants there. We ordered through Ticketmaster and the day the tickets went on sale it was a feeding frenzy. Being our first time to this venue, we had no idea what seats would work out best. Now we know to call directly. Unfortunately, Saratoga Springs, the race track and the restaurants did not "stand out". Of course we must consider that during live racing meet the town is packed and everyone is doing their best to embrace the tourism trade which this town truly depends upon.

This is a VERY cool place...it feels like you have stepped back 100 years, and it has great warmth and is really inviting. My wife and I went early in the morning (before the races) and you can get breakfast, and walk around and see the entire place. Horses were working out on the track; interesting track people everywhere; and you can roam anywhere in the stands. Just a very pleasant was to spend a couple of hours in a classic American Racetrack.

There are many options at the track for where to sit.
Depending on your budget. I prefer clubhouse reserved seats. Sections B C and D have the best view of the finish line. Prices range from $35 to $500 on Traver’s Day.
I like having a reserved seat. You can enjoy all the fun things and have a spot to come back to and watch the race.

We visited the track the day of the Whitney race. Many people were wearing pink to honor Mary Lou Whitney who recently passed away. Even though it was crowded, the grand stands are so spacious we never felt uncomfortable. We paid the extra few dollars to get into the clubhouse and had a wonderful time drinking champagne and watching the races. People were courteous and friendly.

Step back in time and place your bets on some of the best thoroughbred horses in the world. A few tips. Pack a cooler and grab a picnic table in the backyard. Gates open at 1100am but if you get there around 730am you can go in and reserve a table in the picnic area then return at 11am to relax eat lunch handicap horses and walk the grounds before post time at 1pm. Make sure to get a drink from the spring it will bring you good luck!

Health, History and Horses! This historic beauty is unmatched in the United States and a phenomenal place to watch live thoroughbred racing action with the biggest horses, jockeys, trainers, breeders and owners in the game. Anywhere else is just a 'race track'. Saratoga is unique with a focus on preserving the history and integrity of the venue. No better place on Earth, period.

Two couples went to the races as a mini vacation. The track is easy to find but we reserved parking ahead of time at the Madison lot and that was next to impossible to find. The website gives very vague address. The gates to lots just have numbers of which the confirmation does not mention. a mini map of the area would help. After stopping to ask two different locals we found it. Once parked it was easy access to the track.. In a future visit I would just look for a parking spot after we arrive. Clubhouse seating was great with a perfect view of the races.

Annual trip to the track with family and friends. Love the whole ambience and setting of this beautiful and classy facility. Alittle disappointed this year as it appears food and drink prices have increased like many sporting events which only encourages visitors to bring their own food and coolers. It seemed always reasonable in the past. Wonder to inflation. Love attending every year.

Yes this is a wonderful racing venue and a fun afternoon.
Word of warning: Do Not Buy Tickets Online!!!
I did and did not receive what I wanted and wound up paying more than 3 times the actual cost of the tickets.
Get your tickets at the track.
Also the staff at the track could not have been nicer.

We went on a Wednesday and got reserved grandstand seats. This was my 12 and 16 year old’s favorite activity on our vacation. Great food truck choices. Loved the whole ambiance of the races. Parking was free with a free shuttle. The box office reps were very friendly and helpful. It was about 20years between our visits to the track and we’ve loved both visits equally. Doesn’t seem like it would be a great family outing but it was and very memorable.

Hadn't been to Saratoga in 20 years. Great clubhouse seats. Up close to the action. Friendly bet-takers. Good Bloody Marys. Will be back.

was there to bet the ponies, had a great time!lots of food vendors and stands to buy thing horse related. had a great pizza and also mack and cheese bites!

Race track was great as usual
Did not win big but made a couple of $$
Plan to go back one more time
Plenty of room to explore, bet and eat

Planning a 5 day road trip from New Jersey to Saratoga Springs, we always include a day at the races. August is hot and this year more rainy. We always plan ahead. We know the restaurants are expensive but we enjoy it nonetheless. We chose “the Porch” and called up to get seating at a table for 2 people. You must pay $25 pp for the reservation and spend a minimum of $25pp for your meal. We did share a meal, appetizer and dessert. We saved for this fun day.
Our hotel included complimentary drop off & pick up to the track.

Elected to do the walking tour instead of breakfast. Can schedule walking tour through Saratoga website under the things to do at the track section. We did the 10:30 tour and price for family is $10. Tour included grandstand, VIP section, announcer area, and silks room. Got a jockey autograph book on tour. Kids really enjoyed it. Race experience was fantastic. Would recommend either grandstand or clubhouse seating as track is busy even on weekdays. Have a nice play area for young kids with phone charging station. Hattie’s chicken sandwich is a must try. Great day at Saratoga.

We come up every year for the races. This was the first time in several years as a result of the pandemic. Always a fun couple of days.

This place is like disney land for adults. Always a great time and we hit a ton of races this year. I hope I go back the next 50 years.

i visited Saratoga Racetrack on four occasions during July/August 219. It was a new experience for me as it was my first visit to a Racetrack in the USA. I really enjoyed my visits and overall came out on the right side on the betting front. The track is left handed and mostly flat racing is the order there with all weather and grass tracks in place. There are no bookmakers in place like at hom in Ireland and England. Betting facilities are conducted by a system like The Tote in Ireland. The admission fee to the track is modest about 7 dollars on days other than the two big days The Whitney and Travers Meetings when it is about double that price. The price of alcohol at the course is simply outrageous with a pint of lager costing about 12 dollars. The upside to attending the track is that patrons are allowed to bring with then pre-purchased beer and bring it with them to the track. The facilities are there to have family picnic and consume your own beverage. This is the way to go. Alternative go to The Kings Tavern near the track where food and drink is less than half the price. I left the track with a bit of good fortune on my last visit there towards the end of August 2019. Dunboyne Jockey Ross Geraghty rode the first winner over hurdles. Seldom are hurdle races run at the track. Overall I enjoyed the experience and would love a return visit. Bitten with the bug.

I adventure to Saratoga every summer. We actually book our accommodation in January/February. Suggest if you have a big group and plan to send a more than 5 days you get a house. This way you can eat breakfast and pack a cooler for the races. Just google Saratoga house rentals and lots will come up. Make sure you know how far you are away from the track. We get a picnic table in the back to get the true Saratoga experience. Picnic tables are fairly easy to get during the week but weekends are challenging. The line to get a table starts anytime after 4 AM yes that's right. Restaurants during the week is fairly easy but weekend you need reservations so that is why we get a house. Make sure you walk around the track. It is wonderful to see the horses being displayed and seeing the jockeys and the owners. Oh to be rich! Not really a good place to bring young children especially on Saturday/Sundays.

There is no place like Saratoga Race Track. We have attended every summer for 46 years. The food, the horses, the atmosphere are all wonderful. It has gotten so popular it is hard to park so now we uber or lyft. The food is good, many, many choices. The biggest negative is they have become elitist and forgotten the core common person. The prices keep going up for everything, soon, as with many sports, the common person will not be able to afford to go! That complaint made, there is no place like it- put it on your bucket list! It's a step back in time and fun to bet with a limit.

Fun to walk around and just watch the goings on. We like the breakfast buffet for good we’ll prepared food. With lovely trackside porch atmosphere. Say hello to the friendliest chef -look for the ‘tall guy’.

Get to the track early to have the buffet breakfast and watch the horses getting worked for the day. Arrive early so you can get a front table. Parking is free if you leave by 10:00. It seems like everyone in the neighborhood offers parking in their yards plus there are several official lots, but you will probably still have to walk a bit to get to a gate. The gates open at 7:00 and cars start lining up by 6:45 but we found that the initial rush is over quickly so you can enter without a wait shortly after that. The early birds are angling for picnic tables. You can bring your own food and drinks in the picnic area. The buildings have lots of charm and it’s fun watching the horses walk from the barns to the track. The whole setting is lovely and makes for a great day.

Been coming to Saratoga for 10 years and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is second to none in racing and the employees are the nicest people in the world. All race tracks should try to mimic how they treat their guests and strive to bring first class entertainment like Saratoga.

Even people who are not racing fans can enjoy a day at Saratoga. The whole place is inviting and easy to negotiate. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very good grandstand seating and good food options. Use the free parking lot and take the courtesy bus. Very convenient location just off I 87.

Saratoga as a city is delightful, but it absolutely comes alive during racing season. The track is a national treasure. Visually beautiful and elegant; clean, and the people are friendly and helpful. You can have breakfast trackside in the mornings (approx. $20) while watching million dollar horses train just feet from your table (no track admission charge to come in for breakfast, but you have to leave before formal racing starts around noon). The breakfast buffet is one of the best in town with a vast number of choices including a smoked salmon bar; plenty of healthy choices as well as indulgent ones. The track encourages people to picnic, and you can experience racing at any level, from an infield ticket less than $20 to box seats in the 3 to 4 figures. It is an experience not to be missed, and a great opportunity to wear that great sun dress and summer hat!

Decades of visiting the flat track, just a wonderful place to go as a family, or even solo. Kind of like stepping back in time, there is just a special charm about the place.

So much fun! We didn’t even bet on the races. Loved watching the horses race. We also took the tour behind the tracks. So much variety with food. We advise spending a little more to sit in the Clubhouse with a better view of the finish line. Wearing hats not necessary. They have a dress code but we wore capris and a nice jersey top. We brought straw hats but they weren’t necessary. However great when walking in the sun. Definitely visit the paddock to see the horses and jockeys march into the track.

I’ve been to the track many times and I’m never disappointed. Even if you don’t like betting, there’s so much more to do, from soaking in the historic track, to people watching from all walks of life. There’s every day people to the uber wealthy watching from historic boxes on the finish line dressed in all their finery. What is great is there is a place and a seat for everyone at this track. You can go casual wearing shorts and T-shirts while sitting on a picnic table bringing your own libations and food, or you can reserve a table at the Turf Terrace and have wait service and sample delicious luncheon selections. There is no bad view of this track and the rail is easily There is no bad seat and all seats have a view and the rail is easily accessible.
Unlike other tracks the jockeys, after dismounting, get weighed and walk right through the crowd up close and personal. Of course they have NYRA security with them, but at least you can get close enough to take a pic or say hello.
The thrill of these beautiful horses is breathtaking and you can see them before and after the race from the paddock where they mount up to the winner’s circle where they receive their trophy.
This venue has been cited as Sports Illustrated‘s top 100 sporting venues on the planet . And I agree.

We both really enjoyed this horse track. Everyone was so friendly. There is a good view of the track too.

Always a fun day to go to the track, with some food and drinks, sit under the trees and place a few bets. I never win, but the place is beautiful and the horses are gorgeous and fun to watch. I especially love to go early in the morning, grab a breakfast sandwich and watch the horses workout.

My wife and I traveled with another couple to see the races
There were quite a few people there but everyone was friendly, no pushing, getting cut off or annoying situations
There was several choices for refreshments
Well organized and pleasant to visit, we'll do it again

We go ever year for the T-Bred races. If you never been to Saratoga for T-Bred races it is a must. The area is full of restaurants that amazing.

I love going to the Travers Stakes every year in August and find it to be one of the most exciting days of the year! On hallowed ground in the horse racing world, you can sense the venues heritage and significance as soon as you enter the gates. Beautiful grounds, pretty horsies, and some of the best people watching anywhere!

We came for closing day and received a free sweatshirt . Its like going back in time. Very nostalgic A great place for a family outing and picnic. We even won some money

I have been coming to the races at Saratoga since 1975 and every time I return it feels like the first time. I have been to over 20 thoroughbred race tracks throughout the United States and Canada but nothing compares to Saratoga. It presents the ultimate package of a historic venue, country atmosphere, and the very best thoroughbreds you can see run and wager on. It is not my intent to critique other tracks on their shortcomings. Saratoga has a few of their own. But, if I someday was forced to choose one track only for the rest of my life it would be this one.
The retention of a true grandstand with both clubhouse and reserved seating is where I will start. Other racetracks have morphed into casinos first, and a racetrack second (i.e., Gulfstream Park). Not this place. In the spring you have the opportunity to buy reserved seats just as you did 40 years ago. For those who prefer a picnic atmosphere, the areas behind the grandstand present multiple opportunities to set up and bring your lunch while strolling over to the paddock to see your horse. And, the purses offered, the stakes races presented, the jockeys who ride here, and so on are the very best from coast to coast.
But, there are a few negative things ... no racetrack is perfect. The paddock area is simply too big to see all the horses before a race. It needs to be downsized for better viewing. And, some areas in the past where you could sit down and have a hot dog and a beer have now become 'reserved seating areas'. This adds pressure to find an open bench if you don't have seats in the grandstand or clubhouse.
But, these are relatively minor annoyances. Overall, Saratoga is still the 'patriarch' of thoroughbred horse racing in North America.

I've been going to Saratoga Race Course since 1998 with my friends and I love this place more and every year I go.I am not big gambler and never have been into horse racing but this place is so much more than gambling on horses. The grounds are immaculate the horses are stunning animals, the food concessions get better every year and the people watching is second to none. In addition, the town of Saratoga Springs is beautiful and there's so much to do. I strongly recommend a weekend getaway to Saratoga to anyone looking for a fun weekend away.

What a beautiful day at the track🐎. We arrive before the first race and paid $10 admission per person. We bought a $4 program but was only allowed to pay by card, no cash. We inquired to go into the clubhouse, but the person at the entrance said it would be $20-$100 per person admission We decided to stay on the ground level and sat on a park bench There was a lot of benches available,

A truly fun place to visit during the racing season. Crowded most of the time but first week of the season and right after the Travers are best for lower crowds. Free tours of the backstretch stables in the morning was fun and informative. Get tickets for seats for races in advance.

You don't have to be a gambler to enjoy an afternoon at the Saratoga Race Track. This is a beautifully maintained slice of Americana. Excellent facilities with multiple seating (or standing) options. Biggest issue is parking - I recommend you pay up ($20 for the day) and use one of the lots between Nelson Avenue and Frank Sullivan Place (you're practically inside the facility when you get out of your car). If you are sensitive to the sun, suggest you sit in the grandstand - if the sun does not concern you, then it's great fun to join the "railbirds" for a close-up look at the action and the people.

One of the few places left where you can bring coolers with no problem and hangout in several different spots. There’s a playground as well as food and beverage vendors all over. Historic vibe maintained - you can imagine what it might have been like back in the day. Admission tickets very reasonably priced and everyone in our party ages ranging from 3-61 had a very fun time!

Had a great day at the 1863 club Sunday Brunch, and our server Brett was great! Loved the food, drinks, and atmosphere and will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful day at the Saratoga Race Track. The day started off with a free tour and transportation around the track, paddock, and stables.Guides were knowledgeable and friendly. We had lunch waiting for the start of the races and enjoyed each and every one. AND, considering I came out ahead by 5 bucks, a good day. This is the oldest track in America but you would never know that by the way everything is kept up so nicely. Just a lovely day. BTW, leave time to tour the Saratoga Springs residential streets. I have never seen so many Victorian Homes in one place and in such beautiful shape !

Loved it sitting in the covered balcony seats ! It is a stroll into the past! Loved watching the beautiful horses while sipping wine! The staff was lovely and our day was special! If you want to bring family and coolers you can sit on the grounds and eat and party and bet!
Highly recommend a day at the races!

I was yelled at and talked down to by the guy at two parking lot entances. Had i not driven over 2 hours to get there i would have turned back around and just came home. Extremely unhelpful and rude people working here.

No reservations needed, Breakfast from 7:00 to 9:30 A.M., on racing days, and is $18.95 each for adults, $10.50 for kids. Check carefully, because on what are termed "dark days"--usually Mondays and Tuesdays-- the track is closed, and this breakfast is not available.
Huge amount of covered seating, quite a nice spread of very good quality, well-prepared and presented food, good service, and you're right next to the track as the horses trot or gallop by a few feet away.
* Twelve dollar parking fee is refunded if you leave by 10 A.M.

Tickets for seats in Row A in section V of The Cutwater Stretch are NOT worth the money at ALL. You get a wristband for nothing. No service at seats, not able to sit in bar area, no outside water or soda allowed etc… had to walk up and down many steps to bet, eat, drink etc and throw away our own trash.
Why are the allowing this ? We paid over $190 for Nothing!
This is a one and done. Shame on you Saratoga.
Even Belmont treats fans better!! Will be letting many regular Saratoga fans know about this section and it’s false advertising on the website.

The location is cool! It's possible to have a free parking and a transportation on bus. We can see beautiful horses and it is a great place to cherish time with friends and familiy.

Like most tracks it is a bit worn down. Grandstands are old and uncomfortable. There a very few windows with live people. Most are electronic kiosks. I do not like them. I like the personal touch. It is an historic track so a must see!

I get excited every year at the prospect of going to Saratoga, always during race season, as a trip to the track is tradition. It wouldn't be Saratoga without the track. Always.

Busy fun place!! Great Day at the spa!! Awesome food and Drinks!! Walk around and enjoy all the history the race track provides to their guest. They just built a new building with a restaurant and bar looking at the finish line.

We had a wonderful day at Saratoga. The weather and atmosphere there was just perfect. No winners but had a fun day. Of course we will be back.

Track is great place but food way over priced. They keep razing prices each year. By the time you walk in it cost you 25 dollars for parking, entrance and program.

First Class in every way! Built in 1863. It is very traditional and filled with well behaved, enthusiastic spectators. Also the finest horses and jockeys the sport has to offer.
The town is all about the horse racing.
What's not to like about a sort that allows you to bring in your own cooler.

While Saratoga Springs is a nice town with good restaurants and shopping venues, the short race track reason is the REAL reason to go. The setting is beautiful, the paddock in easy view, the betting windows friendly and easy to access. This historical setting takes you back to another era. Free parking - but if you go on Whitney or Travers ( big purse days ) be prepared for enormous crowds and uncomfortable conditions.

Saratoga Track is over 100 years old. It's well maintained. Lots of dining/drinking options. Men should wear long pants if they want to go to nicest areas.

The grounds are well taken care of with beautiful landscaping. A walk back in time. Bet on 3 races. We had small children and couldn’t stay long. The kids liked seeing the horses run and up close. They also enjoyed ice cream on a warm day.

A Fun day at the races. It's not so much about horse racing as it is about people watching and having a good time.
We went to Lake George for the week, and we decided to go to Saratoga for the day. We had a fun time watching the races, betting, eating, drinking, and people-watching. There are so many aspects to this day. We decided to purchase tickets to the Clubhouse, which was a great idea. We all dressed up, and that was part of the fun. We saw others just hanging in the grandstand area, and then there were others (many, many others) who just came and enjoyed the grounds and sat outside watching the races on screens and enjoying the contents of their coolers. We enjoyed the clubhouse as there was an overhang, so the sun didn't beat on us all day, and if it had been raining, we would have stayed dry.
It is worth the day if you have never been to a race. It's fun to bet and root for your horse. You can bet as little as $2 a race if you want to have an inexpensive day.
There was a variety of food and drink, with credit cards only (which I hate). The food and the drinks were overpriced, as in every other arena or sporting event. Go and enjoy, and if you are new to betting, go up to the window with a person to bet. They will help you.

I actually enjoyed the track . The drinks were reasonably priced and the the track is fun . I can not wait to go back in Aug 2020.
Horses
Very pleasant afternoon although no one in our group won. We had fun especially weather wasn't good and so we brought seats in clubhouse, in case of rain, we were covered.
