First let me admit that Schramsberg makes my favorite sparkling wine! I did the tour/tasting two years ago with my husband, and again recently with my sister who was visiting from NY. I learned so many new and interesting facts about wine making and the history of the area....the second tour was by no means redundant! If you can get a tour with Rimple, he is simply the best. Unbelievably knowledgable and entertaining. In our 10 day Napa/Sonoma trip, this was our favorite! After learning about how this fabulous wine is produced, I completely understand the price....which is a bit more than I like to pay, but so worth it and justified. The tasting, which we had in the caves, was sublime. This beautiful place cannot be missed!

A remarkable sparkling wine that represents the finest in California's wine quality. Schramsberg beats any of the great Champagne houses in taste and consistency. The tour is a full immersion into Napa history with a great tasting experience led by a knowledgable and genuine host/hostess. If you visit one sparkling wine estate in Napa, this is the one.

On a girls trip I was lucky enough to have been treated to a cheese and reserve tour tasting. I had previously tried to make reservations for this tour but previously full. I had the most amazing experience and it was well worth the year wait. Brittany Nies was our guide and our wine educator. She was nothing short of amazing! Funny coupled with being a wealth of knowledge contributed to an unforgettable experience. Without a doubt this is a special place worth the price but if you are looking for a cheap tasting this place is not for you. The cheese paired with the reserve tasting is pricey however well worth it and I would repeat it over and over when in Calistoga. If bubbles are not your thing surprisingly they also have a very smooth red. I enjoyed their bubbles so much I became a member which is a great deal! I highly recommend to spend the extra money to do the cheese tasting with the reserve. Amazing how much more I love their bubbles when they pair it perfectly with food. I do recommend reservation and allow extra time for pictures because the caves and their grounds are a perfect back drop for photos.

This is a great tour. The bubbly is great and the Cab is suprisingly delicious. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable. We joined their wine club.

This winery has its place in the history of the area being founded in 1862 and the first hillside winery of the Napa Valley. Some great memorabilia in the main building includes White House menus for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 2007 and the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1985.
Their sparkling Blanc de Blanc and Brut Rose are the ones to try.

Rimple was an excellent host. He took the time to answer all our questions and the tasting in the caves was a treat. The sparkling wines were exceptional and looking forward to our next shipment. Thank you Rimple!

We were blown away by the beauty of this place! The grounds were gorgeous, the wine was exquisite, and the tour guide was great! There is a lot of history here and the staff take great pride being a part of the tradition. We would definitely want to come back if we plan a trip to Calistoga/Napa area.

If it was good enough for President Reagan........well we loved it too!!! Miles and miles of stacked bottles in Caves. We finally learned how real "champagne" is made. Amazing process. The tasting was then in a dining room setting.....very very nicely presented. Highly recommend both the bubbly and the tour.

This is our third visit to Schramsberg and it has always been an awesome experience. We did the cave tour tasting it was really informative and our host Pat was super knowledgeable, answered lots of questions and was pure fun. The sparkling wines are delicious, Grounds are beautiful. I would strongly recommend this as a do not miss experience!!

Amazing experience - fantastic bubbles and wine. We did a patio tasting to start off our Saturday morning and it was exceptional. Really enjoyed the beautiful facility and of course the wines.

The cave tour at Schramsberg was amazing! It was educational and I enjoyed seeing the workers doing their jobs while we toured. The tasting was also fun. The sparkling wine is delicious! I recommend trying the cave tour for a different wine tasting experience!

We did a sparkling wine tasting with a cave tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and walked us through the history of the vineyard. The caves are amazing and the wines delicious. This was my favorite tasting experience while in Napa. The ride up to the tasting room up the mountainside was beautiful!

The caves and wines were awesome. And Art was a great guide. But doing a cave tour with 12 folks, single stop tasting of 5 varietals/vintage and then back to the main house in 75 min??? It was definitely nice and worth an experience but not at cost of a private tasting at established wineries

The drive up to Schramsberg takes you up the mountain on a narrow winding road that feels like you're going through the heart of a forest. Once there, you check in at a wood paneled room with photos covering the rich history of the place - this place is a White House staple, but the staff is nowhere close to pretentious. The wine tour/tasting is pricey at 65 each but definitely worth it. By far the most informative tour my husband and I went on during our time in Napa. They take you through their extensive caves (with millions of bottles lining the walkways) with a very thorough explanation of the manufacturing process. The amount of hands on attention each bottle gets is astonishing. At the end, you get a wonderful tasting in the caves by candlelight. The pours are very generous and we even got tips on how to saber a bottle. Had a great time!

Schramsberg crafts the finest sparkling wine this side "of the pond." Small intimate tours of over an hour in the caves... A true learning experience... I live in Napa Valley and this is my must see for friends and family... I import a wonderful champagne, and still by from here!

Great tour full of information & history and a very different experience than most tours! Beautiful grounds & great wine!

My wife and I have been to napa a few times now and this tour is excellent. The history is fascinating, the education is interesting, and the wine/sparkling wine is very good.

I'm a bubbly lover, so I made the reservation at Schramsberg as soon as we decided to head to Napa. The cave was interesting and wines were pleasing, but I found nothing exciting or enticing about the tour. I would have skipped it had I known.

We arrived 5min late, but even though we called in advance, the tour did not wait for us to start (even though it didn't look like a very busy day). Luckily we only missed the very beginning, and we enjoyed the tour through the caves, saw an impressive amount of stacked bottles, and learned interesting facts about the wine country's different microclimates, secondary fermentation, and riddling. The talk sounded a little rehearsed though. With our group size we were lucky, as only 8 people attended.
We were then led into the tasting room, where our hostess knowledgeably explained the wines to us, suggested pairings, and answered any questions we had. The wines were quite good, especially the blanc de noir. However, at a similar price point ($40+ for regular, 120+ for tete de cuvee) I'd say you'd be better off getting actual French Champagne. For Californian sparklings top of the line though.
My major complaint is the cost of the tour and tasting. Tastings are not available without the tour. While the tour is nice and the caves are impressive, $65 for a 30min tour and a 5-wine tasting is quite steep. And the wines weren't THAT great to justify the price, imho.
Definitely one of the larger, more touristy places. Interesting tour and nice caves, good wines, but not very personal and rather expensive. Good if you don't care about those two.

Schramsberg "vineyard" is a misnomer. No vineyards as Schramsberg procures their grapes from local growers. Tour is interesting; 3,000,000 bottles are impressive; but the tour was not worth the $60 per person fee. That was the disappointment, the experience did not equal the cost

We love champagne for breakfast and that is what we had at Schramsberg. The cave tour and learning the history was very interesting. They still use the French champagne method to make their product.
The property is beautiful and the wines are exquisite. Highly recommend.

Tours are pricey and MUST be scheduled at least a week in advance. We didn't not do that. I went there to buy the Cremant which is only available at the winery. What we found was a very helpful sales staff and the most wonderful, shady garden in which to take breather from our wine touring.

Schransberg was the first winery we visited in Napa and one of our favorites. The road up to the winery looks like a private drive and is hard to spot. Actually, it is the road to the original owners' home and the winery, and it winds through some beautiful redwoods. We arrived for a morning tour and were escorted through the caves by a very knowledgable guide who seemed to enjoy his work. I've been to champagne makers in France, so I was interested in seeing a California winery that produced bubbly. Our tour group was only five people, so the experience was very personal. The information about how the bottles were stacked and the demonstration of how they were turned and the sediment extracted was interesting and educational. At the end we tasted some wonderful sparkling and still wines. Great start for our winery weekend!

This tour was one of my favorites to take in the Napa Valley. The caves are amazing, lined with bottles of bubbles! We even got to see some of the riddling process. The bubble tasting in the cave was also amazing! Perfect photo opportunities!

Loved every second of this experience from learning about the unique history, the massive caves, and how they make, store, and riddle all the delicious bubbles. Oh, and the tasting of the bubbles!! Charles was an amazing tour guide and host. We love Schramsberg sparkling, and left even more excited to join the wine club! Highly recommend this experience if you love sparkling wine and are in the Calistoga area. And say hello to Lola the vineyard kitty!

We enjoyed our first visit to Schramsberg. The tour in the caves was especially interesting and we loved learning about the making of sparkling wine. Somewhat disappointing that even though we joined the wine club, they said we had to pay for the tour. Excellent sparkling wines and reds. Wish we had done the the wine and cheese pairing. Would recommend

Reservations are a must to accommodate visitors in the small underground cave tour. No tasting room only tours. The tour is very pricey but would recommend going at least once in your travels to wine country.

We are big champagne people and have heard about Schramsberg. These are served in the White House since the 1970s. The caves are cool, but the wine tasting was horrible. Everyone was dumping the samples. They tasted like bad apple cider and very bitter. Maybe we got a bad sampling, but even the Schramsberg fans in our group were disappointed. Art our host was nice and informative. Too bad the wine tasting was not worth the visit.

Small, usually 12-14 people, groups with knowledgeable guides occur completely in the oldest hillside caves in Napa Valley... Very much instructional visit takes over an hour... This is the finest sparkling wine produced anywhere outside of Champagne!

A very cool experience! Beautiful grounds and an interesting history, now as a top producer of California sparkling. Loved seeing the caves first hand - so different from anywhere else I’ve visited - and really enjoyed learning the details of the sparkling wine-making process. This was a great morning stop in Napa!

We (my hubby and I) booked a Cave Tour with Sparkling Wine Tasting for a Wednesday afternoon at 2:30pm at $90 per person. The website indicated the tasting included a variety of limited Schramsberg sparkling wines (five sparkling). The whole experience lasted around 90 minutes. We were shocked to learn that we were the only two people who booked this tour at this time so we had a private experience at the group price! What luck. We absolutely loved it!
Our tour was led by Francesca, who was very personable, fun, and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about Schramsberg’s viticultural and winemaking practices, which are carried out by hand: grapes are hand harvested, the wines are handcrafted, the bottles are stacked and riddled by hand in underground caves. The ceilings of the caves are dark and fuzzy, covered with lichen (wine cellar mold). The older the cave, the more lichen you'll see. It was very cool and sort of creepy at the same time while we were walking around waiting for it to fall on our heads!
The tour ends in their small gift shop and there are clean restrooms available. We ended up joining their Wine Club because we have had their sparkling wine before and really loved it. We live on the east coast of the US and not all of the types we tasted are for sale here. There was no "hard sell" or anything to join the club or to purchase bottles of wine.
Overall we had a fantastic time and would recommend this tour.

I am a fan of Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc so I was excited to visit their winery. I was not disappointed. Every. Single. Person. we came into contact with was super friendly, very helpful and obviously enjoyed working there. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and the tasting room & cellar are amazing. Our wine steward knew what he was talking about and was very educational and informative without being boring. Their tours are limited to 8 people and the tasting room is set up to hold exactly that many people so you feel like you are at an exclusive upscale party. I really enjoyed tasting wines that I cannot buy in a store and so, of course, had to buy some to take home. I highly recommend driving a little out of your way to experience this wonderful winery!

great tour. great people. great sparking wine. very educational. surprise was the red wine they produced. you need to make reservation. thanks to our tour guide Rimple.

YOU know that Napa valley has over 500 WINERY'S THE most expensive wine in THE world sold for $ 500,000 dollars for a bottle of wine, 1992 CABERNET SAUVIGNON, FROM napa valley. Schramsber WINERY, castle, v SATTUI ARE the VERY BEST place to go and be at home, if you come to napa, don't FORGET to BRING THE GIRLS.BARRY

We went to Schramsberg with our daughter and her boyfriend. This was our second time. It is a great tour and tasting experience. They explain the history of schramsberg, which is a historical site. You taste in the caves, very nice. The sparkling wine is very, good. The price is $ 60.00 per person. Definitely worth it, especially if you are celebrating a special event.

Our group of 9 did the Cave Tour. Amazing history, great story of how the sparkling wine is made (riddling anyone?), awesome candlelight tasting deep in the cave, beneficial moss growing on the ceiling and walls, bottles stacked by the thousands, then picturesque hillside grounds. The drive up and back down is hairy when another vehicle is coming the other direction.

Yes, the cave and winery have some history but seem to be living off history from the past and less about what they are doing today and in the future. Tour was sold on website as 90 minutes. Our tasting and tour barely took an hour. Did not pour what they are known for which I found odd. Might suggest other Caves/ Tours more value for the $.

The Schramsberg Vineyard tour is a 5-star adventure with sparkling wine! Excellent tour and an informative guide offer a fun and educational visit to the caves. Generous tasting portions made the tour worth the price. Sparkling Wine at its best. Not to be missed!

This is an amazing tour and tasting if you are a bubbles fan like me. Brittany was a wonderful host, super knowledgeable. I joined the wine club and cant wait to go back!

Tour guide was excellent. Interesting to taste the champagne that Nixon served when opening relations with China. Caves are interesting. However, the champagne is not my favorite.

I want to point out that they have probably one of the best sparklings in US. The history and view of the place are both worth some cost. However, we paid 100 each for the cheese and wine pairing tour/tasting and I don't think that experience was worthy.
You joined a tour with 12 people so it seemed that the most important thing for the tour guide was the perfect timing of her activities. The activities were basically standing at three locations, one in the lobby and two in the cave, for 20 mins each to listen to the tour guide talking. We don't want to take anything away from the lady's informative explanation of the tradition and stories. But we were just expecting some more relaxing and personal experience. They certainly take the advantage of being one of the very few sparklings in the area.

Best of the wineries we’ve visited when combining the quality of the wines, the tour of the caves(Fantastic Guide) & history. Schramsberg will be the first stop next time we’re in the Napa Valley.

Made a reservation this time on Easter Sunday at 9:30 am (lesson learned from previous trip to Napa). The sparkling wines were quite refreshing that early in the morning. The caves were interesting and the guide, Tom, gave our group a great historical summary of the property. The property is beautiful and sits high in the mountains.

I went through a long planning process to get a reservation for my group at this location on the last day of our Napa trip. I went through the booking process, provided a credit card and we showed up on time. Much to my dismay, we were told we had no reservation and were asked for a confirmation email. I had none, nor was I aware that I was supposed to have one. The hostess was dismissive and a bit condescending. To add insult to the situation where eight of us were left without a tour, they told us we needed to leave the lobby area because they were starting the tour we were supposed to be taking.

Wine caves and bubbles!!! Make sure you have scheduled a tour as they are only a few times each day and fill up fast. The tour is very fun as you go into the wine caves and see how the bubbles are stored and made. The tour takes you through the wines and shows you how Schramsberg is unique and still riddles their bottles.
The tour ends with a private tasting in the dining room that is cosy and small so you are able to talk to the presenters one on one! Also a great time to visit the gift shop and order some for home!

Wonderful visit last week, our favorite tour in Napa. Elsa was our host and did a fantastic job. The grounds are beautiful, the drive out there is wonderful. Lots of history to learn about and the cave tour was fascinating. Highly recommend a visit here.

We were very happy to spend some time at this winery. They focus on sparking wines which are all excellent. Our tour guide Brittany was extremely knowledgeable and provided a great tour as well as a fun tasting. It's $70/ person so it's not cheap, but it's worth it. You must make reservations and do not be late!!

Great tour with really interesting history, cave tour and tasting. I've never been a bubbles fan, but I am now. Followed this tasting by going to Mumm. Suffice to say my daughter and I enjoyed Schramsberg's products more than Mumm.

We came here at the suggestion of a friend for their sparkling wine and their historic caves. We were just a few minutes late for the tasting and they were just getting started. The information about the winery and history behind it was very interesting. The tasting was all standing, I was surprised by this because the tasting is very pricey and the only pairings with it were some breadsticks. What would have made this better would be if the tasting was seated and there were more food pairings with it. I personally didn't care for the sparkling but did buy two bottles of the red wine at the end. Won't come back again (unless to buy the red which they only offer there). But also wouldn't deter others from going there. They do offer a seated tasting, I would just inquire when that is.

Because Schramsberg makes sparkling wines, this tour is far different from most in Napa and Sonoma. Our guide offered an information-filled tour on the process of making their wines and the opportunity to wander through the caves crammed with 3+ million bottles of bubbly was unforgettable. The tasting also offered a good selection of their wines from moderately-priced to the top-of-the-line. Definitely a highlight of our Napa experience.

Unique winery because of the sparkling wine. You get to see more bottles than at any other winery. Sparkling s were unique and decent. Red was good.

This was my fourth time touring the Schramsberg Vineyards. I will come back another time. I have toured champagne caves in France and this is just like them. The tour is informative and well done. You will be tasting the wine and champagne in various places depending on where your tour is designated. We did so in a part of the cave amidst "walls" of bottled champagne. Their "pours" are very generous, unlike some tours. Their gift shop has lots of interesting gift options and the grounds are so unique...especially the Koi pond with the sculptured frog at the entrance. It also has some amazing history with early California and our White House. You MUST make reservations in advance!!

We chose Schramsberg Vineyards for our first tour of our second weekend day in St. Helena because it came highly recommended by a friend who are members of their wine club and because it was 3 miles from our hotel. Our party of three couples was celebrating one of the couples' anniversary and birthday, and we were very excited to see the quiet surroundings on a beautiful hilltop between St. Helena and Calistoga. Upon arrival (15 minutes early), we were greeted by polite staff, then asked to wait until the others who were joining our party of six arrived. Only two of the other party of seven were on site at the tour start time, so off we went right on schedule. Our host (Art) was a retired 8th grade teacher and very knowledgeable (as you would expect) of the history of Schramsberg, and provided us with a good background as we started our tour of the caves. Inside the caves, the surroundings were spectacularly dark and dusty and all those things you'd expect to see in a wine cave. Art provided an extensive explanation of the sparkling wine (bubbles) making process, and we tasted several of those varietals along with their still wine offering. The cave tour was the highlight, but the wines were all very good and the tour was worth doing, if a bit pricey. I would recommend this if you've never been on a wine cave tour.

Visited as a personal extension of a longer sommelier guided Napa tour. Probably our favorite. History, story of family, location and cellars are truly exceptional. You MUST book a tour (no walk in) but it is worth it to see caves, the production and then finish with classy, informative tasting.
LSchramsberg may be creating 'champagnes' more tradionally than some French producers and worth tasting the limited editions only available at the vineyard. Also excellent Cab and Pinot reds from hill vineyards available to taste.
Knowledgeable staff, wonderful location and views.

Toured with our family, three couples. Second visit for my husband and I, but just as fascinating to us as it was to our sons and their wives.
This tour is pricy, but it is an experience you will not forget, and you get to sample some exceptional, high end champagne at the end. Highly recommend!

We visited Schramsberg’s during our most recent visit to Napa Valley because we thought it would be good to stop somewhere in the morning that served sparkling wine. We were blown away by the history and information about how they make their sparkling wine. As part of the experience we were able to walk in the caves where they are actively working with the millions of bottles that they keep track of. It was just amazing. The last part was the tasting. We were able to compare different offerings at a variety of price points. The ride up the hill to the winery was also a very impressive part of the experience. We would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Napa Valley.

If you want to learn about the production of sparkling wines this is a fantastic tour. We had a great tour thru the caves where we got to see the various points in the production of their sparkling wine. We did the reserve and cheese tasting, they do a nice job with the cheese pairings. The sparkling wine was good, just not our style. The tour was great.

The original (and arguably best) sparkling vineyard in Napa Valley. We were part of a group tour of the caves and got to taste a number of good wines afterwards. A worthwhile experience, but I would have preferred to have a private tour.

Went here on the advice of a coworker and were blown away; the grounds are beautiful and the staff very friendly. We did the wine cave tour and tasting with our host Ilya - she was very engaging and friendly and certainly knew her stuff. The wine cave is amazing; very extensive dating all the way back to the 1800's, and lined with bottles in different states of fermentation and aging all the way through - at the time of our visit there were over 4 million bottles down there with some spots being 75 rows deep. We were fortunate enough to see a drumming session where workers drum bottles against rubber pads to loosen up the dead yeast. After finishing up the tour, we were seated for a tasting and let me tell you this is some exceptional sparkling wine and we ended up buying several bottles. Don't miss the opportunity of this experience.

The coolest tour I've done in Napa. You get to walk in the caves and the tour guide thoroughly suscribes the intricate method of storing, making and bottling the bubbles. Very good quality!

We went on the tour with a tasting afterwards. The tour was neat. You went in the caves where they store their sparkling wines. Our tour guides were very informative and super friendly. My husband liked all 4 sparkling wines. I liked 2 of them. It was a fun experience.

I know these are sparkling wines and therefore more expensive, but for the 2-stop tour, $65 per person seems a bit high! Very educational tour guide and very helpful in suggesting other places in Napa to see. You get to see massive caves and hear about the process of good science in wine making. My husband loved everything he tasted.

Friends recommended this tour ... Was pricey ($65pp) but enjoyed our informative guide taking us through the caves and explaining the "fermented in the bottle" techniques/process all along the way. In the room before the tour, they have many pictures of the presidents/state events that have served their sparkling wines. We had tasting in the cave, with a few chairs around a candle lit table with bottles and glasses. Enjoyed the tasting and decided to join the club for a month to enjoy some bottles for Christmas :)

This is a winery with a bit history attached to it, and our host Rimple spoke of it well.
Both the history and the winery itself are very interesting, the sparking wines are good, but the host contributes a lot to the overall experience; We found Rimple, who is also a chef, to be knowledgeable not only about wine but also about food. He's generous with the recipes. And thanks to him we now can impress everyone by opening a bottle of champagne "the right way".

We booked the sparkling wine & cave tour which was great! The tour was really informative, the tour guide was really passionate about the winery. The cave is large and as you would expect cool (may help to take a long sleeve top or shall). We had six sparkling wines to taste which were great! If you are looking for an experience and are interested in bubbles - we couldn't fault it and all bought a bottle of sparkling to extend and share the memory. Would recommend.

Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable. The cave tour was informative and interesting. The seated tasting was lovely, but the tastes are small.
This is very expensive compared to most other places.

Schramsberg Vineyards was my favorite Sparkling Wine winery in Napa Valley that I visited (out of Domaine Chandon and Domaine Carneros). The location is beautiful and very rustic. We did a tour and tasting which I highly recommend doing both. You learn a lot about the property, the change of owners, the development of their sparking wines, how they are cellared, etc. The tour takes place for the majority of the time in the caves. It wasn't that cold, but a light jacket may be suitable for you.
We were able to taste a few different sparkling wines, shown how to open the bottle properly, etc. Our tour guide was also a science teacher whom you could tell how much he enjoyed talking about the wine and how it is made. There is no food offered on the tour, but you are provided some breadsticks at the end which were very good.
The road is very narrow getting to the top so take your time going around the corners. Large vehicles are not best to travel on the road if you can avoid it.

Our guide (I believe her name was Liz) made the already great experience even better. Going through the caves was quite the treat as was tasting the excellent wines. We learned so much about the history of the valley, the vineyard and the wines we were drinking. Would love to go back!

We did the caves tour and really enjoyed it. It was such a unique experience and so different from all others. The hand stacked bottles in the cave truly was amazing. The wine was delicious and the tour was informative. Would highly recommend.

From the scenic entry (Koi pond with amazing frog sculpture) and the surrounding buildings, we knew we were in store for a great experience. Our tour took us through the wine caves where we learned how sparkling wines are made and stored. The tasting included several sparkling and red wine varieties. You definitely want to make sure Schramsberg is on your priority list for tastings. We purchased bottles of their Reserve sparkling wine and their J. Davies Cabernet Estate Grown wine. One of the best tours in Napa hands down!

Lindsay did a phenomenal job articulating the history of this winery at a pace which allowed for everybody to follow along. He pauses often for questions and has a dry dense of humor (about as dry as a Brut, Lindsay)
Really cool historic pieces both inside the castle and inside the caves. Tastings were generous, though keep in mind they are done underground standing up rather than inside at a bar.

Almost every winery in Napa has a tasting and tour. What separates Schramsberg from the other tours is their history in and out of Napa. Schramsberg has a great history and story and the tour is amazing. I cannot underscore enough how much history Schramsberg has and that you will be truly amazed by their story. Walking through their caves and seeing how many bottles are in there is incredible. All the staff are knowledgeable and make the tour very intimate and informative. After a great tour, you get a great tasting in the caves.
Schramsberg sparkling wine is my day-to-day bubbly. I strongly encourage you to do the tour and tasting. Their tasting room is small and will get packed very easily. Same for parking, which can be tight if they are busy.

We booked the cave tour with wine and cheese pairing. Our host (Leslie?) was pleasant and informative and did a very nice job. While the tasting was pricey, of all the places we visited, this is the one Napa winery we’d consider returning to. The sparkling wines were wonderful and the 2 I packed home in my suitcase made it cross country plane ride no worries. The drive up the winery lane is interesting. Glad we didn’t meet the tanker truck that was getting ready to leave when we pulled into the parking lot!

My husband and I were lucky and stopped here by flute and asked if we could join a tour... We were able to squeeze on it is $$$ $60 a person but it lasted about 1.5 hours and our tour guide was outstanding I believe his name was rumple and he made the tour!! The tour was very informative and the bubbles were very tasty! If you have to do one tour I would def do this one in the Napa Valley

This is approx $70 per person plus the intense CA tax. You get a small taste of 5 wines but no additional pouring. Our guide removed all bottles from the tasting room the second he had poured the last glass. The tour is interesting but no wine until the end. If you're really interested in the sparkling wine making process then give this a try but you're paying for the tour and not much wine.

Sorry France - it's still champagne to me even here in California! This was a very pleasant way to learn about traditional methods for making sparkling wine. The tour and tasting were very reasonably priced. We bought several bottles of different varieties, but would recommend the Cremant for something different! Yummy!

We went on our 4th tour and tasting at Shramsberg, and this one was the best one yet. While we absolutely loved getting to see a guy saber open a bottle of their sparkling wine on our first trip there years ago, Rimple did a fabulous job leading our tour. He was interesting and had a sense of humor, which makes for a very good tour, and it seems that not a lot of people have both of those qualities. The caves here are amazing to see - it is a must-visit!

Great wine tour very interesting and informative. Beautiful estate and well worth a visit. The sparkling wines were excellent.

This place is awesome. Their sparkling wine is top notch and their tour is fun and interesting. They take your through their wine caves and teach you all about their history. I was skeptical about paying $60 for a tour/tasting, but it was well worth it. Since they are a working vineyard with one road to get to it, they only allow 96 guests on property a day, so you'll make a reservation.

Really great winery, cave tours and sprakling wine! I loved this experience so much. They have some of the oldest caves in Napa and our tour guide gave us so much interesting information on the history.
It is an hour and a half cave tour for $60, it was only about 8 people and we tasted several different wines. From sparkling, to reds. Really delicious. I would highly reccommend this tour. Great ambience in the caves and beautiful surroundings, felt like Phantom of the Opera.

Shramsberg is a Napa Valley gem. We did our tour with Art who was engaging, informative and clearly enjoyed his job. We were taken on a tour through the caves where the sparkling is stored, shown the process of grape to cellar door and did our tasting under candlelight in the caves. The sparkling itself is delicious but the overall experience of the tour fantastic

We recently visited Schramsberg and what a wonderful tour! We have had their blanc de blanc champagne before, so we knew we liked it, but we really enjoyed getting to try all of the other things they let us sample. The cave tour was amazing - we learned so much about the process of making champagne and the caves themselves are unbelievable. I think they said there are over 2 miles of underground caves there and to see all the bottles of champagne stacked up like they have it, its incredible. We did the actual tasting in the cave which was really cool. Our guide was funny, informative and kept everything moving along at a good pace, the tour and tasting took almost an hour and a half but the time flew by. We also learned that champagne goes really well with fried chicken! Can't wait to try that now that we are back home :) I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

Schramsberg Vineyards is a historically significant piece to California's wine history, as well as to the United States'. The cave tour is a must, I've been on this tour 3 times now with visiting family and friends, and this unique experience is both educational and a lot of fun. If you are in California's wine country, this stop is a must. Make sure you plan ahead and snag a reservation. Whichever tour you end up with, you will be very happy!

Went here with local friends, who knew the best places to go. We were not disappointed. The cave tour was very interesting and our guide was very knowledgeable. The tasting was good and we came home with a couple bottles, of course!

We did the cave tour on this trip. This has by far been my favorite of the 5 vineyards we visited in Napa. The guide (a tall thin gentleman) was knowledgeable, patient, and great at explaining everything. The cave and the bottles were all really fun to look at. It had an intimate and romantic feel. The tasting (we just did sparkling) was a really nice variety with some that felt special. I absolutely loved everything about this place and I will be visiting again! I’ll be looking for all of the Schramsberg sparkling I can get my hands on in my home state!

I expected more than a cave walk with a stand up tasting in an alcove for $60. Four champagnes with a modest to small pour is not something I would recommend. It is cool to walk through the caves but it is a short walk and standing up in a dark alcove in the cave to taste was not the most enjoyable experience. You cannot stop by for a tasting you have to go on the tour. I skip this place in the future.

We really enjoyed the tour of the caves and demonstration of how they make/bottle their sparkling wines. The caves are really cool; not the spotless, cement ones that you see at some wineries. Great operation and we will definitely be back.

The history of this winery is incredible. We went into the caverns to learn how the bubbly was made and it was an education in and of itself. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Not to mention their great tasting products. I was impressed!
I was there with my daughter and her fiancé'. They are club members.

This was our favorite tour on our recent visit to Napa. It costs more than the others, but high- quality bubbles are worth it! It is a little out of the way, but the private nature of Schramsberg is part of its appeal. Start your morning there (be sure to make advanced reservations - they fill up fast!) then head to Chateau Montelena to see the Chinese Gardens and finish up the afternoon with a late lunch at Auberge Du Soleil (be sure to request patio seating when making your reservation in advance) for the best view in Napa.

Good tour with well informed guide. Tasting was excellent but there is no getting away from it this sparkling wine does not come near French Champagne which is much cheaper. How they sell it at this price is beyond me. The French way of balancing wine from different vintages to give consistent quality is an important factor. However, if you want to pay a high price for a domestic product this is a good example but give me Reims every time.

With all the vineyards our group have been to in many different countries, we have gotten to point where we just want to do the tastings! At Schramsberg you have to take the tour and I am glad we did. Check out the wall of pictures and see all the Sparkling wine they have provided to the White House for state dinners! Tom was our host and his knowledge was fantastic about the vineyard and how champagne is made ( pardon France) SPARKLING WINES! LOL. We did the all sparkling wine tasting and this was the least expensive of all our vists this holiday weekend at $95 per person. Not cheap but worth it when you add the tour he gave and what we learned about the process of producing sparkling wine. We tasted 5 different sparkling wines, all wonderful. If you want an education and taste some excellent Sparking wines, do stop here.

We celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday at Schramsburg Winery, and had a wonderful tour of the caves with a terrific sparkling wine tasting of many varietals.
The tour is considerably more expensive than most Napa Valley tastings, but the tour is one of a kind and worth the extra cost.

Love the tastings at Schramsberg. Love the cave experience and the wines from Davies combined into one. Knowledgeable staff and great recommendations for other wineries in the valley! This is a must experience winery!

One of our favorite tours on our trip through Napa Valley. The education and history on the tour was top of the line. And touring the cellars and caves on a 100+ day sure had it's appeal as well. The champaigne was delightful though a little pricey. We did pick up a bottle in the grocery at Soda Canyon, however, not the same vintage as the tasting so not quite as good.

We started our wine trip with this tour. It was very informative. We learned so much about sparkling wines and of course got to taste too! Perfect start to a trip.

Schramsberg does a fabulous winery tour. We opted for the cave tour with cheese and wine tasting in a private tasting room at the end. We tasted 4 sparkling wines and 1 J Davies cab. All were lovely. We highly recommend this tour. The cave was truly fascinating. We ordered some and bought one bottle to bring home.

We absolutely LOVED this tour and the sparkling wine. Mike was a great tour guide. We joined the cellar club as a result and bought a bottle of the Blanc de Blanc to enjoy with our dinner. Great time!

We really enjoyed the tour and wine tasting. It was our first and we did join their wine club. It is just a tour of the caves. I thought we would see some vineyard and some processing parts but since it was our first i really had no idea... it was over 100 degrees outside so the buildings with a/c and the cool caves were a blessing. The road up to it is a little scary if you're not used to one lane mountain roads! When it's harvesting they say their big trucks go up and down that road each day too which seems crazy!

This is a really good tour for those interested in the history of the valley. The caves were really cool and they do a great job of taking you through the steps of the traditional method of making sparkling. And their sparkling is exceptional, by the way.

The cave tour and tasting were an excellent experience. If you like bubbly, you'll love this place. The tour was about an hour and very well done. We are now converts and will remain loyal customers.

I found this to be the most interesting winery tour we did. It was a little pricey, but several locals working at other wineries told me to do it, so we called and got an appointment. You have to have one, so make sure you plan in advance. Different from other wineries since they make a lot of sparkling wines and the process is different. Wine was excellent as well - both sparking and non.

The best thing about this is the actual tour and tasting. The gentleman who lead our tour was very knowledgeable and funny - explaining the Champagne style process in great yet understandable detail. The caves are impressive and the tasting was fun, with generous pours.
The actual buying experience after the tour and tasting is a little impersonal, more of a shop than a bar where you can sample some more wines, but still a worthwhile experience - if for the cave tour alone.

A place located on a hill surrounded by intense vegetation, well-tended gardens and fountains that transmit peace.
Tour of the wineries and tasting were excellent.

First of all, I have to say their sparkling wine is delicious and very well made. We were very much looking forward to our tour after rave reviews from friends and family that visited. The winery made it very clear that guests were to arrive 15 min prior to tour for parking and check in. Unfortunately our tour had a group of 6 guests celebrating a birthday (half the tour) that arrived 10 to 15 min after the tour started and this was clearly not their first stop of the day. The rest tour was couples, the group of 6 should have been booked on their own private tour.
Additionally, our tour guide while providing good history of the property/hand riddling process, he also provided quiet a bit of misinformation regarding the modern process and his opinions that impacted our enjoyment. For example, my husband is an engineer and he found it funny to continually bash engineers throughout the tour. Got old very quickly.
Bottom line, my husband and I are fairly knowledgeable about wine and wine making. We have done lots of tastings and tours all over Napa/Sonoma and other wine regions. For the price tag of $70 we found this tour to sadly to have missed the mark and to be a bit gimmicky. Maybe if we were less knowledgeable about other, better experiences in the area we would have enjoyed this tour more.

Schramsberg Vineyards provides a nice tour. I've done several Napa valley winery tours and enjoy this one best... mostly because of our excellent guide. The walk and sights through the standard tour is a bit pricey ($70) but you do get several sparkling tastings which helps make up for it. You do get that exclusive feeling to it starting from the drive up the hill... The dangling cave moss and stacked wine bottles through the cave reminded me of the walkthrough while lining up for a Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney. The candle-lit tasting at the end was nicely setup though I wish there were some snacks. Only a 4 since you could skip the tour and buy 1.5x bottles to drink yourself in the car.

This was an amazing tour, the man who lead it was a wealth of knowledge. The wine caves are amazing. The tasting did not disappoint and it surprised me as I wasn't expecting the Cabernet Sauvignon! Wow! it is worth the trip. Make more reds.

Very nice winery, a little drive up the hill. We booked the tour in advance you can't show up without a reservation.
Our tour guide explained about the early start of the winery the toured us around the cellars was very impressive and fun. The wine tasting was great, 3 sparkling wines and 2 reds, (Pinot and Cab). It was quite a bit of wine, after the tour you can buy wine.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and nice.
I would recommend this winery tour.

Art led our group through an informative and interesting tour followed by a wine tasting inside the Schramsberg Caves. An amazing experience

We had a great time during our tour of Schramsberg Vineyards. The underground caves are fascinating and their sparkling wines are delicious!!

I was a little hesitant about visiting Schramsberg since I'm not a huge fan of sparkling wines. I was however pleasantly surprised. Not only are the wines excellent but the history going back to the 1800's was incredibly interesting.
I loved the cave tour but be warned, if small dark places make you uncomfortable, you may want to sit this one out. If you can do it, I would recommend it.

This was a very disappointing tour/tasting since everyone raved about Schramsberg. The surrounding woods and the building was nothing to write home about but....none of that mattered if the tour/tasting was great. Compared to the other 8 wineries we toured, this tour was the most expensive and most blah. Many dusty bottles lined up everywhere in the caves; not much in the way of interesting education. Ok, no problem but we were sure the tasting would be fabulous...NOT! We got started, asked where the crackers and cheese were or something to eat between each tasting and were told there was nothing; we were told....wait for it...people got crumbs everywhere so they no longer do that. Um, no vacuum? My eyes rolled up in my head and I disengaged. We tasted and left after tipping the guy as it wasn't his fault for parroting the company line. That was that!

The only opportunity to taste at Schramsberg is by taking their tour, and for good reason. Without it, much of winery's rich history might be missed. You'll walk deep into the caves where all the magic takes place; transforming still wine into heavenly bubbles. By far my favorite winery tour, still or sparkling. Cheers!

Schramsberg is one of our favorites and I was looking forward to our tasting and experience. Our host was pleasant and cordial, but being from Louisiana it became apparent we couldn’t join their club or purchase wine for shipping. At this point our host quickly excused us and dashed to a nearby table bidding us a quick adieu and leaving us to complete our flight of tastings. This left me with a feeling that if you can’t buy, we can’t waste time with you. Was a bit disappointed since I was looking forward to the experience.

Went for a girls' weekend, and we loved the tour and the tasting! It is a beautiful vineyard, and they encouraged photos. The sparkling wines were especially good, and our tour guide answered all of our questions, and gave us some excellent recommendations.

This is one of the better wine tours in the Valley. The history goes back to the 1800s, the grounds are beautiful and the wines (primarily Champagne style) are excellent. My only negative is that it has become a VERY expensive tour. If not for that, I would have rated this excellent.

This was something new for us. No Barrels, just bottles. There are lots of bottles ,for the wine is aged in the bottles. The caves were very interesting. Art was our guide and he did a great job. I learned a lot from him about sparkling wines. The tasting was interesting also . I'm not a a sparkling wine fan, but the rest of my group enjoyed it.

We did the tour and tasting this morning and it was fantastic. Our guide,Brittany was knowledgeable, friendly and fun!
What an interesting place with great history.
Favourite wine - Blanc de Blancs - but it’s all down to personal choice.
Thanks Brittany.

We took a tour that led through the caves. It is amazing how many bottles are stored in their caves, some 3 million we were told. Their champagne method Champagne is very good. We had tasting following the tour, they let you taste their high quality wine besides the Champagne, we liked it so much that we bought a bottle of their Cabernet ! We can recommend the tour, it is very informative. The property is extraordinary, go see !

We really enjoyed learning a lot about making sparkling wine and seeing the entire process at one of America's oldest sparkling wine wineries. We really enjoyed the tour and tasting. We would recommend visiting this vineyard as a sparkling wine experience!

I loved this winery. The location was beautiful and secluded. The tour was wonderful and the wine tasting at the end was enjoyable and informative. I would definitely do this again and recommend to others!

A unique winery that you can't afford to miss when visiting wine country. The wine caves are amazing as are the sparkling wines that are stored there.

The cave tour was interesting and the tasting was very tasty. Why are no palate cleansers served at wine tasting any longer?
Nothing else to do here except an expensive booked tasting of one type or another.

The tour here is very informative and full of history. One of the only caves in Napa dug by hand. This sparkling wine is served in the White House and stands up to some of the best Champaign. The J Schram is very good.

The people at Schramsberg are very proud of their status as the top Blanc de Blanc winery in the country, and this pride is well deserved. This tour was not as long as I might have expected it to be, however, the pours were reasonably generous (my wife and friend both were giggly by the end), and while I'm not a fan of bubbly, the offerings were quite good.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and covered the history of the winery as well as the methods used to make the wines. I would have liked a little more out of the tour, but all things considered, I'd absolutely recommend giving it a go.

We have used Schramsberg bubbles to celebrate family milestones, so we loved finally getting to see how it all began. We had an outstanding tour guide who, as a former science teacher, really knew how the production process worked. The tasting was delicious, intimate, and special. But, do be aware: we had to make it private and ignore other annoying travelers who did not seem to pick up on the mood of Schramsberg. So, keep your focus on the bubbles and you will enjoy!

What a perfect way to start the day in Napa! Do book the cave tour and tasting. Worth the drive to the north end of the valley! Absolutely beautiful! Amazing sparkling wines!

I was familiar with the traditional method of making sparkling wines, but seeing the caves first dug out by Chinese laborers after they were finished with the transcontinental railroad really tied together some local history. This is a beautifully orchestrated tour with a generous wine tasting. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

Had a wonderful opportunity to bring my 21 old daughter along on a traditional girls trip to Napa.. Of course Schramsberg was our 1st visit and it could not have been more perfect having De as our wine educator. Her knowledge and love for the caves made this tasting incredible. To have the tasting in the actual caves with candle operas was a highlight.
Looking forward to coming back in 5 years and hoping to see our new friend De at the door to greet us.

First time touring a Vineyard. Was such a wealth of history with this. Totally enjoyed the time spent learning about it and sampling the wines. Can't say enough about what a great time we had. Would recommend this to everyone.

We booked the cave tour and sparkling tasting to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. The cave tour was incredible as was the education on sparkling wine making. Highly recommend!

Our Inn reserved a tour for us on our three day trip to Napa. We are generally not sparkling wine drinkers with the exception of New Years but we were encouraged to visit to appreciate the history and labor intensive process for making sparkling wine. We had no comprehension of the effort involved to make a true craft sparking wine. The highlight of the tour was our visit to the caves and the tasting at the end. I have a new respect and fondness for sparking variety. They also have great red wine , J. Davies label.
Our guide was excellent, a retired school teacher, both passionate and informative. The tour was a little pricey but enjoyable.

The driveway going up to schramsberg was my favorite memory of this place to be honest. It was one of the most beautiful drives I've ever experienced. The tour itself was very informative, but Brittany was amazing at throwing some humor in there too so it wasn't boring by any means. She really knew her stuff!! Once we learned all about the bubbles, we went into a tasting room to try a bunch of them. Brittany even showed us how to open a bottle of champagne without it going everywhere! It was a great experience altogether.

I'm not much of a sparking wine person, but the overall cave tour experience (to my knowledge) is unique to the area and was a lot of fun! I wouldn't say I loved the wine, but my wife is a fan of sparkling and she did. The reason to make the trip is the tour anyway. Our guide interestingly explained their wine making processes when walking through the cave, history of the winery, the Davies winemaker years, etc. The tasting at the end had some great pairings! Recommend!

This was the first stop on our week of wine tours! Perfect to kick off our week and one of the most memorable tours! Be sure to tour the caves- best cave tour in the entire valley and the tasting is divine! This is must if visiting the valley! Be sure to have a driver like Andre from Executive Car Service as you will not want to drive after enjoying all the sparking wines Schramsberg has to offer!

Lovely wine tasting setting under the trees made for a fun afternoon. While we couldn’t do the cave tour we really enjoyed a short walk around the property as it’s hidden back up in the hills. Art led our tasting and he was a treat to be with and had a lot of knowledge. I’m not a sparkling wine fan but I enjoyed the process learning and they have a great sister winery and their Cab was very good.

Be forewarned. If you don't make an appointment you don't get to taste. Due to the location at the end of a very windy long road, they don't offer tastings alone. The last tour was at 2pm and they were booked til monday, when we were leaving. Sad!! Still, we will be back to the area, and we will go to schramsberg.

A friend designed the weekend itinerary, my only ask was "bubbles," and she totally delivered with a planned tasting at Schramsberg.
First, the sparkling wine : it was amazing. A wonderful lineup (of generous pours) of a great selection across the portfolio. This is quality sparkling wine and you'll know it; what struck me most was the color of each pour (they're just really pretty sparkling wines). Our server (Jesus) had great commentary (it was clear, from some eavesdropping, that all servers had the same talking points, but we didn't mind). The grounds are beautiful (and the two vineyard cats - Louis and Lola, I believe--were friendly and fun additions!) I will say, the drive up/down the mountain, while not long is a bit precarious and (like all roads, but especially this one) needs to be driven with sobriety and focus.
Second, the experience. This experience is quite a bit more of a structured, commercial production--the tasting is set at 45m-60 minutes, there's no off-menu asks, the commentary is pre-packaged... it's all well done, of course, but it's not going to feel casual or spontaneous. I'm sure some of that is size and popularity and some of it COVID, but it is what it is.
So, I definitely recommend Schramsberg, but would encourage you to try some other, smaller, more-casual experiences in Napa, too.

Best sparkling wine (champagne) produced in America hands down, in my opinion. Available at BevMo and TotalWine and restaurants.
All sparkling wines made completely via the traditional French méthode champenoise.
All bottles hand riddled, cave aged, and naturally carbonated from two fermentations.
Several sparkling varieties available including regular and Rose types. Still wines also available. Unique old hand dug caves with natural lichen on the ceilings, just like traditional old wine caves. Great and informative cave tour with lots of detailed information on the production process with tasting of several different varieties at the end. Very romantic trip. Great ambiance! Great champagne quality and taste! Very informative and friendly tour!

Highly recommend the cave tour. Extremely informative on the process of making sparkling wines, and memorable tasting experience down in the cave.

While I respect and enjoy Schramsberg sparkling wine, this tour is no longer a good value.
This was our third visit over 10 years (last two times going with relatives who had not been) and each time the tour covers less of the cave system. We learned a lot of history but we covered very little ground on the tour. And we did not get to do the tasting in the cave this time - very disappointing!!!
Tip. If you are on second tour of day, you probably will not get to taste in cave.
The price continues to go up and the experience diminishes. I do not recommend.

My husband and I visited Schramsberg last week. We were a little frustrated when we got there as the sign posting was a little sparse and we couldn't figure out where to go. It was pouring with rain and we got soaked as we wandered around.
I was very surprised reading other reviewers comments on how good the wine is. Honestly, I don't agree. Their flagship wine tasted like a mouthful of lemons and acid. The Blanc de Noir was ok, but it had a strong aftertaste of hops in it.
What we did like was the pinot noir. That was lovely and we ended up purchasing it. If you want sparkling wine there are so many other places where you will get a better experience. Domaine Carneros for a start.
Being in the wine business, this place was a huge disappointment. I don't think we would bother to return. Meh.

I'm not one that typically enjoys winery tours. I've done so many. However, this tour is something special and should be on everyone's bucket list. Most of the tour is in the caves (the absolute highlight!). Brittany was our educator and her tour was certainly informative. It also helps that she enjoys "heavy pours" for your tastings in the caves.
I couldn't recommend this more high

We were told this is THE place to visit for the caves. Ok, the caves are interesting but it's 30mins 200m or so into the hillside. You do get a sense of the magic here, and it's wholly different as a sparkling wine producer to everything else in the region, but if you know the story I'd pass by. The product is really good but buy a bottle rather than $70 each for the tour and tasting. It's a good tour and tasting but just not worth the cost. Not really relevant but the equivalent tours in France are about half the cost for more content. Do I regret my visit, no but I can afford the poor value, many others may not be so fortunate... caveat emptor!

This tour is expensive, but takes you into hand-dug caves in one of the oldest Napa Valley wineries. They still make sparkling wine the old fashioned way with lots of hands-on processes. Theirs is the best sparkling wine we have found.

Cool tour and tastings. Of "Napa champagne" cool history about the winery. The don't do tastings, only tours with a tasting. By appt only. Worth it!

This place is for sure one of our favorites in Napa with some of the best reds and for sure THE best Champagne styles, wow. We never had a bad experience there, love the staff, ambiance, food pairings and more. Can't wait for Napa to fully re-open, so we can go back visit & enjoy some awesome tastings. We even had a big party there for our partners and their loved it. See you soon :)

This is the only cave tour we did during our trip to Napa and we are so glad we did! The guide was knowledgeable and engaging. The tour was informative and included a through tasting of all of their wines. The winery has a rich history and have perfected the art of bubbles. The grounds are beautiful! It is impossible to leave without buying at least one bottle to take home to enjoy. They do require a reservation so make sure to add this into your plans.

Best bubbly in the valley.
This is one of the oldest family names/wineries in Napa Valley, and has a lot of history and reputation (such as being the sparkling wine of choice in the White House for many years)... which are completely backed by the quality of its product! The grounds are also beautiful, and you can get a nice little tour of the caves/facilities.
My personal favorite in probably the blanc de noir, but it's hard to decide because they have several excellent varieties.

I should clarify that we really enjoyed Tony Hauth as our guide/educator. His passion, knowledge, and savoir faire of engaging our small group while also giving us value for our tour was what really makes me leave this positive review. I was a bit put off, initially, by the cost but am glad we went forward with it and followed the advice of locals on this special place.

Group of 6 toured the caves with very knowledgable guide. Learned a lot about the families and the process. Great tasting in an alcove in the cave with candle light. Delicious sparkling. An enjoyable experience. They unfortunately don't ship their wine. Hopefully we will find it in Albert, Canada.

We have visited wineries all over the world, including the Champagne region of France. We paid $75 per person for the “Sparklimg Wine Cave Tour”. NOT worth it! The caves are so-so. Our guide talked the whole time but didn’t really encourage questions or engage with our group. The wines were good, and we were primed to join the club, but our guide left us right after the tasting. We weren’t allowed to revisit anything and couldn’t ask questions about the club. Most clubs will waive your tasting fee (at least one) if you join, but not Schramsberg. We will stick with our standby...a great Brut Rose at an even better price point from Soter in the Willamette Valley (Oregon). One more thing...when we made the reservation, we were asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. We were celebrating our anniversary and indicated such, yet it was never acknowledged. A complimentary glass of bubbles would’ve been nice. What was the point of even asking...

This winery is by appointment only and worth the trip. The cave is narrow and there is A Lot of mildew but it’s a very cool educational tour. We visited with a group, our tour guide was a little “dry” but we brought the fun!!

I have been on the cave tour and raring many times but never the cheese pairing option.
The cave tour is impressive along with the story of the history of the property. You’ll spend 15-20 minutes walking through the caves and seeing the literally millions of bottles that are stored. You’ll also learn about the process to make sparking wine including the riddling process.
We then sat down to 5 wines with cheeses and other small items to try the wines with and experience how the flavors change with what your are eating. There is no better sparkling wine in the valley.

Interesting tour in the caves, with the stacked champagne. Then sat comfortably in a private room tasting champagne and their new red.

We were looking forward to our visit with Schramsberg even though the tasting fee was on the higher end. Although the champagne was very nice, you are required to stand for the full 75 minute tour and tasting. The champagne has a lovely large table to be placed on but there are only two haphazard chairs set off in the corners of the cave in which to sit in. Our group of 8 had to continually share them. The tasting totally lacked the communal feeling of sitting, sipping, and talking about the wines. Additionally, if you purchase any wine or accessories or join the wine club, your tasting is not comped. This is standard practice for the higher end vineyards in Napa but Schramsberg flatly refused to do so. For a better experience, I would recommend visiting one of the other 3 champagne wineries in Napa over Schramsberg.

I have been a member for over 4 years and actually have never visited the vineyard. For shame. The grounds were beautiful, the tour was super interesting and of course, I think the wines are amazing.
I thought the tour was a good value and as a member I received a 15% discount on a case to have shipped home. All around great visit! It will be on the list for every Napa Valley visit.

By far, my favorite of the places we visited this weekend. It was such a great place to visit, the bubbles were fantastic, the host Mike was great - the cave tour was interesting and everything was amazing. Can’t wait to return 🥂

This was a favorite on our trip! The road to the vineyard is very narrow and forest like! We took a tour which was well worth it, and learned the process of making champagne style sparkling wine, which was fascinating! The caves are incredible! This gave me a new appreciation for drinking bubbles! They have an amazing cabernet also!

The cave tour was amazing! Rimple was our guide and he knew his stuff. This place specializes in sparkling wine, so it is a nice break from all the Reds great facility to visit

This hidden gem was such a treat. I'd been to Calistoga many times but always missed this. I only became aware of the little sign when headed north. The caves were amazing and the history of the Schramsburg family was captivating. The best part of this tour--tasting generous pours of champagne in the heart of the caves lit by "Phantom of the Opera" type candelabras. It was evocative of a past era. I bought a case of my favorite champagne from the tasting. I'll definitely return. Reservations are required.

We had attended the Bubbles and Caviar Brunch at Davies and our host Kelly recommended we try to get into see the Caves- especially since we love the history! We checked online and must’ve snagged a cancellation for the next morning- we squeezed it in before our other stops and soooooo glad we did! It was amazing to hear the story of Jacob &Anna Schram and see the first caves dug by hand. We got to see how they store the wine and the riddling process- the tasting deep in the caves lit bu candlelight was a nice touch. I wish we could have stayed and asked more questions but because this was a taste and run we had to get going- I love the pictorial history on the wall! Did you know that their wine has been served at the White House every year going back to Nixon and the “Toast to Peace” in 1969? My husband is not a huge fan of the bubbles- but he liked everyone of the varieties we tried both here and at the brunch! Cheers to the Cellar Cub

Everything you ever wanted to know about how bubbly is made in the traditional french champagne method. Love old dark caves, 10's of 1000's of bottles of champagne, Really interesting. And the tasting s divine!

Highly recommend this tour and tasting as the history behind this location is fascinating. Loved it all.

We discovered Schramsberg Vineyards, longer ago, than I care to admit. We did their tour and tasting with a small group, and just keep coming back. One can only do the tasting with the tour, and though we have now done the "cave tour" a half-dozen times over the decades, there is always something new to see, or learn, and each guide personalizes things just a bit.
The history of the property (and surrounding area) is a big part of the tour, and not to be missed, or ignored, and it all begins in the waiting area, prior to the tour. Be sure to study the old photographs, as they are a part of the total experience.
Now, still the highlight of the tour is the tasting, and we got a surprise. While we have known the sparkling wines of Schramsberg for a very long time, and enjoyed them often, those sparklers, as great as they are (our favorite non-Champagne sparklers in the world), are not ALL that is now produced by Schramsberg. We knew about a few of their still Pinot Noirs, and have always appreciated them, but they are now doing the J Davies Cabernets - seven in all. Not only were those new to us, but they were GREAT, as well as unexpected. Proves that we need to get to Schramsberg more often!
Wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable staff will lead you on an historic and exciting journey, into the making of California sparkling wines. You must make a reservation, and tours are very punctual in beginning, so leave yourself enough time to drive up to Calistoga (northern end of Napa Valley), in plenty of time for the tour. Also, when you turn off of Hwy 29, look closely at the signage (the turn comes up quickly), as we missed it the turn, and we've been there several times.
For us, this was a great place to celebrate our anniversary, and a wonderful way to spend a rainy morning.

I visited Fairfield five years ago to attend a dog training school. I visited wineries on the weekends to pass the time. Schramsberg was the most memorable of the tours that I did. This past July, my wife planned a Napa Valley tour for us, so I suggested that we visit Schramsberg. The tour was as good as I remember. We joined the Schramsber wine club as our souvenir of this trip.

History is here. A tour of Schramsberg's tunnels with leave you in awe and their bubbles will give you great spirits!

My wife have visited the winery a few times. The tour is spectacular and then you get the opportunity to taste their divine sparkling wines. I am somewhat knowledgeable on wines and those created by the staff at Schramsberg are some of the best in the world. If you are in the valley do not miss this opportunity.

This was our first tour/winery stop on our trip to Napa. The tour was FANTASTIC. We had a knowledgeable and very warm/nice/charming tour guide. She was so great. The caves were fantastic. The history and story of this winery is so great. I do feel they could charge a bit less for the tour, but understandable after you take the tour. We were able to taste a bonus Pinot Noir; it was delicious.

We booked the cave tasting to celebrate our 20th anniversary. When we arrived an employee was outside taking a personal call and said to go inside. Once inside the employee there said the employee (outside who just sent us in) would check us in. Not exactly the welcoming you’d expect. The wines were beautiful and the tour was ok at best. Our guide had trouble answering basic questions regarding quantity of wines per year and winery size. Overall we were disappointed and expecting much more for the price. Napa is full of inviting wineries. Would not go back and wish we would have picked a different winery to celebrate.

My husband and I did a cave tour and tasting and had a great time. The guide was very knowledgeable about the process, history, and varietals. The tasting room was private, with only a enough room for our group to sit around the table, and the guide poured each wine one by one to allow us to experience each tasting as slowly as we desired. The champagne was excellent, definitely the best we experienced while in Napa, perhaps the best we had ever had.

We did the tour. The grounds are lovely with a large pond. Before the tour we waited in the store which is a nice room. Our guide was delightful. Tons of info on the sparkling wine making process and the winery. The tour is about an hour with plenty of tasting opportunities. We went through the wine caves and got to see how the whole process worked. It is not an inexpensive tour, but well worth the time and money. Plan ahead and get a great intro to sparkling wine making.

You have to book this ahead of time as they only have permits from the county to do small intimate tours. Very unique and fun experience in the caves. we learned about some history and the sparkling wine
Process. Our guide art was very informative. Pretty cool stuff especially since they have been the official sparkling wine of the White House for a couple decades !

This was our favorite vineyard/champagne spot we found in Napa! The champagne cave tour, while expensive, is worth every penny! It is such a beautiful place, and the tour was amazingly cool - our tour guide explained their whole process in a really informative, not snooty way. We had our tasting in the actual champagne cave, and it was incredible! The champagnes (and even their Pinot Noir) was delicious!!!

Heading to "The Castle" and came across Schramsberg Vineyards which I had read about. Went on their Sparkling Wine tour which was our best experienced in Napa. Cost approx. $70 pp but worth the experience. History of the Schramsberg Vineyards and the process of making sparkling wines (fermentation in bottles in caves) was very interesting and tasting was awesome. Sampled five or six sparkling wines/wines of which several were well over $200 a bottle. Sampling was done in the caves. No pressure to buy but ended up purchasing a sparkling wine for @ $50. as a treat.

This activity should be number 1 on your Napa Valley bucket list. Short, informative, delicious, and simply beautiful. The history of the cave, Davies family, and subsequent modifications/endeavors are fascinating. We felt comfortable the entire tour and gained a new appreciation for sparkling wines. Wherever you're staying in the Napa Valley, reserve the cave tour with sparkling wine tastings. Guaranteed to please. Don't even think about it, join the Schramsberg Cellar Club, too.

We really enjoyed our Tour and Tasting at Schramsberg. Reservations are needed and you can choose between a mix of the Schramsberg and Davies wines or only Schramsberg sparkling wines. There is also a wine and cheese pairing option. We did the sparkling only tasting. The tour itself was very interesting learning about the painstaking process that creates these sparkling wines. It was also fun to walk through the caves, see the bottles stacked and in riddling racks. At the tasting we were given 6 sparkling wines - none of which are readily available to us at home. I am already a club member and have or will receive our favorites from the tasting so we did not purchase any wines. The club membership is very reasonable and over a year's time you get 3- 2 bottle shipments and 1- 4 bottle shipment in December. Schramsberg is also a pretty drive to the winery itself! A fun experience.

As you drive onto the property it feels like you are heading into the woods and be careful because there is only one road in and one road out. The parking was a little hard to figure out because we went to the first tasting of the day and no one else was parked in the lot so those of us who got there early parked further away than we needed to but luckily someone who worked there directed over to the closer parking area.
The tour was underground so it was a little cold but the tour guide was very informative and passionate about the wines they make. The tasting was very fun and we sampled 6 different wines. All their workers were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Great place to check out if you're ever in wine country.

We went on the cave tour and tasting which required reservations. We've been on multiple tours in the past and this was one of our favorites. The guide was very knowledgeable about all of Napa and Sonoma and the history of Schramsberg was fascinating. We all loved the tasting which followed. Cheers!

This was a cave tour with a lot of information. Both historical information and all about the sparkling wine process. The amount of bottles in the cave is amazing. After the tour you have an opportunity to taste a range of their wines across the price range. Great stop!

I enjoyed the facility & property. While the leather tiled tour office & retail space are great, look to the left of the retail & tour building and look into the bottling area. Reception staff was great, tour guide & tour was fine, wife felt the pours were a bit brief and rushed which led to the ? about where the left over wine goes-"Home," said the guide. Awesome cellars and incredible stacks of stored wine. Neat stories about winery and turning. Waited for 15 min. to purchase something. Would go back if going with someone who hasn't been yet.

Schramsberg Vineyards was our first visit upon arriving in Napa Valley. We were completely amazed by the beautiful caves and wine bottles stacked in the walls up to the ceiling. Much of the work here is still done by hand. They even have fiddlers that turn bottles a fraction each day including the only female riddler in the world. You can also still see the pick marks in the cave from the Chinese laborers. Our tour guide was fantastic as were the sparkling wines we tasted and purchased. This visit seems to be a favorite and a highly respected vineyard from the locals. It was worth a visit!

We did a sparkling wine tasting in the tasting room (not the same site as the cellar tour) and had a very nice time. The sommelier was a great host and got (wine) nerdy with us, the room is beautiful, and the beverages were high quality. Wine club 4 lyfe. We stopped at the A&W nearby and had papa burgers to complete a wonderful experience.

This was a very cool winery tour! Tour guide was awesome; very friendly and informative. We had our tasting in the caves, which was very cool. The sparkling wines were fantastic, but we ended up purchasing the Davies Cab; excellent.

We had a great time on our bubbles tour through the caves with our host, Lindsey. He was knowledgeable and personable, and we really enjoyed learning about all the differences in sparkling wine. This winery has an “edge” over the others solely because it specializes in bubbles, which is unique in and of itself!

We absolutely LOVE Schramsberg Champagne! We have been drinking this wine for the last 20+ years! The J Schram is probably the best I have ever had! Also, LOVED the Cabernet Sauvignon - extremely smooth. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WINERY! We will definitely be joining their wine club again once we settled into our new location/home.

This was a recommendation from a friend and I now understand why. This was the most interesting and exciting tour/tasting I've ever done! You get to learn about history of the vineyards and past owners, then wander through the caves hand cut into the mountain where they store hundreds of thousands of their bottled wines! We saw the workers rushing the freshly bottled wine through the tunnels and stacking the walls of bottles for aging.
They teach you the process of making true champagne style sparkling wine in the bottles with yeast (not just blasting CO2 into the batch of wine). Towards the end you get to do a generous tasting of expensive sparkling wines in the tunnels with candelabras and wine bottles surrounding you. It's so unique and makes for incredible pictures! Ilya was our guide and she was so welcoming and inclusive of everyone in our group (about 12 of us). Whether first timers or wine collectors, she made everyone feel so excited and included. She made the tour! We can't wait to go back and do it again. WELL worth the money, especially since most tastings are at least $25 or $30 anyway. This is a must do! Make a reservation!

My husband and I were very impressed with the grounds, the experience and the bubbles! Lisa, our host, was simply fabulous. We enjoyed every sip and learned a great deal about Schramsberg. It was definitely the highlight of our trip to the Napa area and will be back...

Schramsberg is the second oldest winery in Napa and makes some of the finest sparkling wines I've ever had. The tasting takes place down in the historic and really spectacular caves. You learn a lot about how sparkling wine is produced and the tasting was generous.

We went in August to Schramsberg. We took an entertaining, light tour of the hand-dug caves and enjoyed a luxurious flight of bubbly tasting at the end which truly hit the spot. I enjoyed this immensely and highly recommend it for anyone who likes champagne or it's equivalent in the USA.

We went here with some friends for their cave tour and tasting. If you don't mind spending the money ($65) it is very interesting--they talk about the family history and take you through the cave. We finished in a tasting room that was set up with beautiful glasses and place settings--very nice. I probably wouldn't do it again because of the price, but I am glad I did this once.

The place and the people were classy without being pretentious. The mountainside setting + cave tour was a nice change of pace from tasting bars in the valley. We learned a lot on the tour. More wine was purchased here by our whole group than any other place we visited. Highly recommend!

The tour was interesting and our guide's enthusiasm for the wine was infectious. Lots of information about the traditional French method used to make the sparkling wine here and the caves are atmospheric and a great place for a tasting.
The property is beautifully kept and the history of the estate and the wines makes for some extra special stories.
The wines were probably the best we tasted on our trip to Napa and although we aren't allowed to ship back to the UK, we took as many bottles as we could fit in our suitcases!
$60 per person is quite a bit considering no food other than breadsticks is offered. They should consider refunding this with purchase (or a proportion of it at least) which would make it more reasonable.
However, we enjoyed our visit and I would recommend it.

We loved our tasting at Schramsberg! The wine was amazing, our guide was knowledgeable and personable, and the tasting was intimate and personalized. We enjoyed it so much that we joined their wine club and look forward to going back and doing one of their cave tour/tastings. Strongly recommend a visit but do the cave tour and tasting if you can!

Our party of 10 ( actually 11 if you include Sue on a stick) booked the Tour & Tasting with the Reserve Wine and Cheese pairing. The host for the tour was Rimple who gave us his undivided time and passion for wine and food over the next 2 hours that blew us away throughout ! The recipes for the pairings kept on coming as the wine and bubbly were being poured. You are a rock star and thanks again for making our experience memorable.

The tour guide at Schramsberg is vivacious and personable--she even made a point of learning everyone's name. Her energy really helped the tour, which includes lots of fascinating and technical information about making sparkling wine.
Unlike other winery tours we took, this one included very little pressure to buy. I appreciated this approach to their craft.

Really fun tour through the mountain to see how and where they store their sparkling wine. Very interesting to hear about the process in general.
The wines we tasted were very good, and I'm wishing we would have picked up a few bottles to have on hand.
If you have claustrophobia, I would suggest thinking about it before paying money to take the tour. The entire tour is taken in these tunnels. The bottles on either side of you make it feel larger (width), but it could still cause some problems for some people.

My husband and I first visited Schramsberg in 2014 during our inaugural Napa trip. We recently returned to the region with a number of friends (two other couples), and we brought them back to experience the story, the history and the learning. This was the only winery that we have ever revisited and it is certainly worth it. Candidly, I am not that much of a champagne/sparkling wine fan. That said, the offerings are lovely and the visit was certainly worth the time. Our whole group absolutely loved learning about a completely different process of wine making than what you see in any other Napa winery. Plus Brittany - our guide - was compelling, knowledgeable, humorous and warm. Definitely worth fitting into the schedule to see something completely different.

We did the cave tour with the reserve wine and cheese paring. When we arrived, we checked in at the front desk and were charged up front for our tasting. This felt very impersonal. We were then informed that we would have a new employee with us training. This was interesting that they would do this on a paying customers tour. The host was very scripted and rushed us through the tasting. She didn’t give us an option to revisit the wines. She left us to discuss the wine, while leaving the trainee in the tasting room with us. He decides that he wanted to revisit the red and pours himself more. Not offering us any. Extremely unprofessional. I had high hopes but left underwhelmed. Wine was ok in my opinion.

My wife and I loved the tour and tasting at Schramsberg. Going down into the caves was truly a unique experience and we had a phenomenal host who did a great job of explaining the history of the property and wines. It was also nice to mix in sparking wine after all of the cab-heavy wineries. Highly recommend visiting and make sure you opt for the cave tour experience!

We visit Schramsberg on our last day in Napa and one of the few real tours we actually took. The tour was great as they explained the history of the winery and location as well as explaining the process for how sparkling is made. While sparkling is not my favorite it was an enjoyable tasting and worth it for the price we paid for the tour and the visit. Definitely recommend a tour and tasting but book early they are only allowed 90 visitors a day if I remember correctly.

Interesting tour and great tasting. The making of sparking wine is very different than still wines so this tour will definitely teach you something new even if you've been to many other wineries. The wines, sparkling and still, are really nice.

When in Napa this has to be a stop. Reservations are required, as much in advance as possible but check as they were able to get us in last minute. You will not be disappointed with the "bubbly experience" tour and tasting!

This was a unique tour/tasting that we had during our stay. We had the opportunity to watch one of their Sparkling wines walls being built in the cave! The tasting was excellent by candle light within the cave as well. We love the J Schram!

Excellent tour and tasting. Even though Ryne was in a wheelchari the entire tour was accessible without issue. The sparkling wines we tasted were all very good and even the J Davies red selection was excellent (we purchased a couple of bottles of this as well as a few of the sparkling options). I highly recommend this winery and tour/tasting.

Schramsberg is not the most beautiful winery in Napa and there is no huge Chateau - BUT, it does offer you a taste of absolutely amazing sparkling wines and a really great, informative tour.
Tour are a 12 person maximum, with a tour fee of $65 per person. The tours last a little over one hour and you stand for both the tour and the tasting. The first tour is at 9:30 AM, which is nice, and the last tour is at 2:30 PM. The cost is a bit high, but the quality of the wines makes it worth it.
I had to smile when a former reviewer complained about their tasting in the caves. The caves are captivating and the tour is interesting and fun.
The sparkling wines (the American version of French Champagne) were so delicious that this is the only wine club we joined on our four days in Napa. (Schramsberg has been served at the White House many times.)
Schramsberg sparkling wines offer the perfect break from the hundreds of Cabernets and Chardonnays you're plied with during a trip to wine country.
Enjoy your visit!

We took the cave tour and tasting with Tom Scott and learned so much about the whole process of making bubbly! Let me say, I know I'm weird because I'm not a fan of bubbles but the knowledge I gained made up for that and everyone else got to have more from my glass! We all had a good time!

Very knowledgeable guide. Oldest wine caves in the Napa Valley - interesting and informative presentation in the cave followed by a nice wine tasting of both the bubbly and still wines from their sister vineyard at Davies.

You must book in advance- tours fill quickly, and at $60, it is a commitment. However, this is an one-of-a-kind experience with a very unique tour of the extensive caves. You then follow it up with tasting of a number of sparkling wine and wine samples in a private tasting room. One of the best experiences in the Valley.

BEST bubbles I've ever tasted in my life... and I've had my fair share. The tour of the caves is a MUST while in napa. Bring a sweater, as it's chilly down in the caves. There's so much history here and I learned about the sparkling wine making process which I thought I knew but there's so much more. GO! You won't regret it.

We were excited to visit the winery as we had heard great reviews. The winery requires you to arrive 15 minutes early, pre-charges you the $85 per person fee (quite expensive), then you stand around and wait for 15 minutes for the tour with no offer of a small splash of wine while you wait. It felt strange to arrive so early and pay upfront to then stand around and wait. The tour was interesting with good information regarding the wine making. Our tour guide took time to answer questions as she explained the process. The tasting was disappointing as there is no place to sit while tasting and no offer of food or water. The table is set up inside the caves with two chairs set along side of the table. Our tour group had 8 people which left us all rotating through the chairs during the entire tasting. A bit strange and disappointing given the extremely high price tag for this experience.

The wine was really good. The cave was cool. The tour was rushed and the wine tour guide, Will, was knowledgeable, but rushed and curt

Loved Schramsberg! It's a high-end winery (sparking wine of outstanding quality!) minus the pretentiousness. It also has an interesting history that begins in the 1800s. They only do a few tours a day with small groups of people, though, so make reservations as far in advance as possible. I called on a Monday for a Friday tour and they were sold out. I asked if they had a wait list, which they do, and was added to it. I wasn't very optimistic that we'd be called but, as luck would have it, there was a cancellation with a couple hours notice so we were able to smoothly adjust our plans with time to spare. We were about 35 minutes away.

I can’t remember my tour guides name but she had short blonde hair with an awesome personality!!
Part of the tour was informative with history than came the cool part the CAVE!!!
She opened the door and there was bottles of sparkling wine all stacked for miles ..
This tour was fantastic I would tell you to book a tour right now you will not regret it ..
Plus this sparkling wine has been served at the White House too many presidents so it is good stuff 🥂❤️

We Ellen winery with outstanding sparkling wines. The tour itself was excellent with a very knowledgeable tour guide who was able to answer all our questions from the history of Champagne, to the winery and historical moments as well. He also highlighted the manufacturing process and what makes their label so good. We tasted 3 sparkling wines (our best selection was the 2014 Blanc de Blancs) and a red cab from Davis (the sister label) which was also very good but pricey given what we tasted. The grounds are great and overall a great experience. Keep in mind that this winery only does tastings by appointment and will cancel is you are more than 15 min late.

We went to an afternoon event that featured multiple sparkling wines, Pinots from three vineyards and JAMIE. All of the wines were paired with gourmet foods. Normally, I am not a sparkling wine drinker, but I enjoyed many that I sampled. The Davies Pinots were all delicious. The Jamie was sensational. If you have the chance to get in on one of their parties, I suggest you jump on the chance.

We took a tour here last week and it was an amazing experience. The tour is thru the wine caves so if you are claustrophobic you might find it a bit intimidating. Our guide was entertaining. The wine tasting was incredible and they have some of the best. We were treated to a top reserve wine and it was perfect. So perfect we bought a $150 bottle to bring home! A caution - there is no food so make sure you eat something prior to arriving.

This tour was great in the fact that you got to see the caves and the rows upon rows of champagne. The champagne you taste is great!. $60 seemed a bit over-priced, but it's fun to do once. Our tour guide was not very good though. Kind of awkward and didn't really add much to the tour information wise. I'm used to going on tours where the guide gives you a wealth of information about the company, wine, wine making process, etc. It seemed like our tour guide either started that day and we were his first tour or he just didn't know much.

This was a very well organized, unique and educational tasting. A great tour by a very informed guide. The caves are very unique; lots of fun and learning. Great sparkling wine tasting after the tour. Definitely a top tasting experience. I would highly recommend this.

The wine was delicious, the tour was informative, the cave and process were fascinating, and the sell was present. Irrespective of the latter, a most enjoyable experience and one I recommend.

Fascinating tour of the caves with millions of bottles of stacked champagne. We loved the history and information that was given on the tour. We tasted 4 different champagnes (2 of them retail at over $100) and the J Davies Cabernet, which was the best Cabernet I've ever had It was such a unique experience and it was our favorite tasting we went to. For reference, we went to Sterling, Frog's Leap, O'Brien, Pride Mountain, and Hess. We would go back and do the tour and tasting again in a heartbeat.

My 2nd visit because the 1st was so good I had to come back. Each time I learn so much more. Love these original caves. Our guide Beth was fantastic. So informative. Love the history and learning the process. Love the beautiful grounds and the tasty bubbles.

We paid for the "All Sparkling Experience" and it was worth it. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable on the history of the estate, the wine, and the wine-making process. The trip into the caves was a new experience and provided a new appreciation of everything that goes into producing top wine. We then had almost an hour to sit down and taste the various sparkling wines with excellent company.

Amazing tour to start off the day. What is better than bubbles for breakfast. The cave tour is so unique a definite must do for any trip. Our guide Illya was so knowledgeable about the history of the winery, the details of the process and the whole Napa area. She made the tour so memorable and so fun. We were big fans before the visit and are even bigger fans now.

I highly recommend booking this tour as your first stop when visiting Napa. It's a little further north when on the main road, and the turn to get into the winery is a little hard to find. The grounds outside are gorgeous, we unfortunately did not get much chance to explore since it was raining when we went.
The sparkling wines are light and crisp, perfect way to start your palate for a day full of wine tastings. The tour was very informative and unique in the sense that there cellar is in caves. It's not necessarily a comfortable tasting; you stand around in a dim cave room. But it definitely has a special ambiance. I highly recommended visiting.

We booked this tour and a tour at the Castello di Amorosa. After this tour the tour at the Castello was disappointing. This is the only tour you need to go on, in my opinion.
We booked the sparkling wine tour and for two people it was $190 which was pricey however the quality of the wine was superb and I’ve tasted a lot of champagne in my time.
Pat was a great tour guide and explained everything well and was able to answer any questions thrown at her. The caves were stunning.
The group was small so it felt personal. After the tour you then sat in a small tasting room to drink at your leisure. The portions were so so but it was expensive and high quality wine.
I wish we didn’t have to travel back to the UK otherwise I’d be stocking up!

Cellar cave style tasting of exception sparkling wines. However the cab took the prize!!! Small group tasting in a very cool wine cave, however the wine host did not really share his knowledge. More concerned about talking to his friends about local events that any outsider would not understand. Would love to learn more.

This was our second time to Schramsberg, and we got even more out of it this time than last. Our guide during our cave tour, Kelly, was so knowledgeable and helpful. We signed up for their wine club, and are we really looking forward to receiving their bubbly!
We also had the chance to briefly meet their owner, Hugh Davies. He was very friendly. It is great that his family is continuing a tradition started in the 1800s.
Give them a visit and you will learn a lot about making sparkling wine. The cave tour was interesting from an historical perspective, as well as an educational one.

First off I want to say that even if you are members you have to pay for the cave tours. That being said, I found it fascinating learning about how they make and clarify the bubbly! Our tour guide was very informative about the history of the property as well as how the sparkling wines are made. I'm sad it was rainy when we were there, I would have liked to walk around outside - it's really beautiful!
We had a wine and cheese pairing. They explained how the foods enhance the tastes of the wines. Even suggested dishes to make with the wines. The bubblies are great in the mornings, so book this winery on a morning tour :)

The staff is awesome they give a great tour. There bubbles are amazing my favorite in the valley. The property is beautiful I always love going here. We got a magnum ingraved for our wedding it turned out beautiful.

We had great memories touring Schramsberg years ago and were excited to return. Sadly, we were disappointed with this visit. First, we were surprised to be paired with two other couples. There was no communication saying our $135/pp tasting was a group tasting. At this price point, we also didn’t have any special pours. Typically there is a reserve bottle the host will offer. Lastly we were offended when the host placed an iPad in our hand to give them a tip. Shame on Schramsberg for using this approach. You should pay your hosts appropriately and not make guests feel uncomfortable or pressured to tip. The kicker was the minimum tip % was 19%. We won’t be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the wines. It was a unique experience - an authentic cave tour, an entertaining guide (Brittany - ask for her!), very good sparkling wines and we learned a ton about the area, history and the wine making process. Highly recommend this tour as it was so different than all the others and was a memorable experience.

This was one of my favorite places to visit in Napa. Fascinating to see how fine sparking wines are made in the old fashioned way. This is the vineyard that supplies “champagne“ to the White House during official state visits. Pay a few dollars more for the deluxe tour. It’s worth it since you get to sample very expensive bottles of California Champagne. And yes, you will see that there is a huge difference between a $20 bottle of sparkling wine and a $200 bottle!

This was the most expensive tasting/tour we had scheduled, but based on reviews I thought it may be worth it. They would not let our party of 8 go one the same tour (even though tour size is 12) because it may make others "feel bad." So our groups were split 4/4 on tours separated by 30 min. When we arrived, we asked if there was a discount for our designated driver who did not plan to drink and we were told no because you are "paying for the experience." Well let me tell you about the experience, you go into a musty cave for 30 min and hear a very dry tour guide talk about carbonation. You stand on concrete the whole time. Then we went into a room for our tasting and were seated, but other group had a standing tasting. The wine is average and the guide poured out last two at the same time and then left the room. They literally care not at all about if you purchase because I guess they want to make $ on the tour. I guess that's their business approach and I hope it works for them, but I can tell you we spent $2000 at the previous winery (Pride) and we spent $0 at this place. Won't be back.

Great tour with Pat through the wonderful old caves under the Davies estate in Calistoga. She explained the methode de Champenoise elegantly and thoroughly and we had wonderful sparklers along the way. Great tour. Reservations recommended.

This was the first of 14 wineries we visited and the most memorable. We enjoyed learning about the Schram and Davies families, the role of Blanc de Blancs in Nixon's trip to China, the tour of the caves, and the beautiful grounds of the vineyard. It was especially interesting to see how so many thousands of bottles of sparkling wine are packed so tightly into the alcoves of the caves.

One of the top tours in the Napa Valley, in my opinion. We greatly enjoyed seeing the caves and hearing about all the work that goes in to making their excellent bubbly! And to end the tour with the Riddler overlooking the little pond is awesome!

We visited here with friends. Great wooded venue with gardens. Did tasting only though I hear that the tour is amazing. Really enjoyed the wines. All vintage selections and high quality!!

My favorite sparkling wine! My 83 year old mom loves this place too and always insists that we visit and pick up a bottle or two. Lovely setting a nice employees. We always enjoy our visit. It you have not visited you are missing a great spot. Cheers

We were in the wine country and were looking for some sparkling wine. Beringer recommended that we go to the winery. The road up to it is very quaint and the house on the estate is pretty. People behind the counter did not seem all that helpful. I came away with the feeling that they were very snooty. I guess they can be that way when they are charging the prices they are for sparkling wine. My mother and I like to drink champagne and neither one of us had heard of this vineyard before. We did purchase a bottle as a gift for my brother so I hope he likes it.

Outstanding winery, actual club member...
Enjoy the amenities and the employees who provide outstanding service.
Their sparkling wines are great. They have several clubs that assist in developing your experience and enjoyment of the wines of this area.

Thanks to Brittany at Schramsberg Vineyards we now have an interest and appreciation of sparkling wine. We knew approximately nothing before our visit. The tour was educational, concise and fun! Never again will I drink any sparkling wine unless it is made using the traditional method. Hopefully it will be the best....Schramsberg!

You need to make reservations and pay for the tour, but it is well worth it. They take you on a tour through the caves, describing the process they use to make sparkling wine, complete with the history of Schramsberg.
Our tour ended with a tasting inside the caves by candlelight, which was great. In the past, we have wound up in a tasting room (private tasting for the people on the tour), which is nice, but not as nice as tasting in the caves

It is one of the oldest wineries in Napa Valley. Very impressive caves carved into the mountain side. Great private tour with Rimple. Excellent sparkling wine and estate cabernet.

I really enjoyed this. The caves are a must see experience. The guide was very down to earth and likable. He explained things well for all levels in the room patiently and seemed genuinely happy. Highly recommend . If you only do a couple tours . Do this one.

We have visited the Napa Valley several times but had never visited Schramsberg until our recent trip. So glad we did. We participated in the Tour and Tasting experience on May 30 which included the Schramsberg sparkling wines and some wonderful reds from Davies Vineyards. This is a gorgeous property with a rich history. The wines were great. We were fortunate to have a great guide who was knowledgeable and passionate. A tour of Schramsberg allows you to taste some of Napa's best sparkling wines, tour the amazing caves and get a great history lesson of Napa Valley. We would recommend this to a first time visitor to Napa or a frequent visitor who wants a worthwhile experience.

What a great place to visit. The location, the grounds, the caves, the wines and the staff. A terrific way to spend part of your day.

I was a bit hesitant about another behind the scenes/tour. But, this is like none other - very informative and our host made it lots of fun. I had a much better appreciation for the craft and of the history and impact of this winemaker on the global scene. Of course, we enjoyed the tastings, too.

The grounds around the winery have a few pieces of sculptured art work. I especially enjoyed the story about the frog pond and the sculptured frog tribute to a long-time Schramsberg worker.
The tour and tasting at Schramsberg is one of the best winery cave tours in Napa Valley. I came for the educational experience. The briefing before entering the caves provides some history about the families who helped make Schramsberg what it is today. The framed pictures at the start were interesting to see and learn about. Seeing the millions of bottles in the caves and learning about the process of making sparkling wine was very interesting. The hands-on experience of turning the bottles was a great interactive piece of the tour. I loved being able to do our wine tasting down in the caves, complete with candles. A tasting of four sparkling wines was offered first. I tried them all but unlike most members in the group, I confirmed that I just am not a lover of sparkling wines. The final tasting was of their Cabernet Sauvignon - which I adored. It was amazing! At $60 a person, this tour is pricey but I enjoyed it and have no regrets.

I had no idea what I would find when going to this vineyard tour. The champagne we had here was made for the first champagne toast with China and the US and continues to be enjoyed by every US president since. There were pictures on the wall documenting these events.
Without saying too much, this place was a gem. I had never experienced champagne storage in caves before. Our guide was knowledgeable, excited, and entertaining as he guided us through the cave giving us the history. At the end of the tour we purchased champagne in the small gift shop.
I would highly recommend a visit.

This winery was amazing. Everything from the entry lined in forests to the frog pond to the caves... just wonderful. Our host was great and gave us the full Schramsberg experience. I think our group of people also helped - such a fun group of people we met! The sparkling wines are amazing when bought from the store back home but then when we got to the winery and tasted their specialty wines — amazing. We gave them all our money and don’t regret it for a second!

An experience unlike any other- the tour of the caves at Schramberg is insightful to say the least and leaves you with a lasting memory. Have learnt so much more about wine and how it prepared and its history. And of course all this with wine tasting in the background- what more could one ask for.

Great tasting experience! Eva was our host and she was wonderful! Knowledgeable, engaging, witty. The sparkling wine was delightful! Just so good. Such a different look from other wineries in Napa valley. Great little shop. If you have a morning tasting, you might want a shawl or light blanket .. but it’s delightful! Will absolutely go back!

Oh my goodness this place is amazing! Probably my favorite stop on our trip! We took the sparkling wine cave tour, and our wine educator was top notch. He took us through all of the caves and thoroughly explained the wine-making process. The tasting was done in the caves with candles! I love sparkling wine, so that was a plus!

The history of the winery and tour of the caves was almost a wonderful as the wine tasting. Our guide spent

This was the first winery on our girls weekend in Napa and it was our favorite! We did the tasting in the caves. Jeff was our guide, and he made the experience fun while also learning about their amazing product. Definitely recommend if you love champagne.

We LOVE Schramsberg so even though we have been on the tour before, we continue to go add this is now the only way to do a tasting.
Tasted four champagnes, one low price, one medium, and two higher including our favorite, J Schram. Fifth glass was a cab which is VERY good.

If you enjoy bubbles you cannot miss a visit to Schramsberg. The caves were especially cool (in every way) on a 90 degree afternoon. Best bubbles around!

I CANNOT say enough good things about this winery! We made a reservation for a tour through the wine caves about a month before we went out to Napa. Our tour guide Ilya was fabulous and you could tell was really passionate about her job. She educated us on the history of the wine caves and the people who own/run/dug them. We entered the wine caves and for about 20 minutes she walked us through the process of how it is made. It was interesting and informative. Very unique process. She was happy to take pictures of people and show us good photo opportunities. We then walked down another long cave hall to an open area lit with candelabras. This is where we had our tasting. It was my first sparkling wine tasting so we had 2 new wines and 2 old wines as well as a J. Davies red non sparkling wine. She have us bread sticks between and allowed us time to talk among one another and meet other people. She offered to take pictures of everyone by the candelabras too. The sparkling wine was GREAT and I appreciated it more knowing hoe they make it. At the end of the tour she was not pushy and allowed us to look around the show room. We did end up purchasing a large magnum bottle and she double checked the wooden box with us, explained where to store it, when to drink, etc. ASK FOR ILYA if you are going on a tour! Lovely grounds outside up in the woods as well. I have not one negative thing to say about this place :)

We spent a month in Napa and visited over 40 wineries. Our visit to Schramsberg was among our favorites. This is the Grande Dame of American sparkling wine makers. The tour is incredible as you visit caves dug by hand and see how the "bubbles" are handled after bottling. I had no idea the amount of labor it took to make a bottle of good "Champagne". An unexpected bonus in the tasting is they make a very good and reasonable Cab. Everyone needs to visit a a sparkling house while in wine country. Schramsberg should be your choice!

A historic winery producing some great sparkling wines as well as limited cabs. Make sure to take the tour of the wine caves and the tasting. Be sure to bring a camera as the grounds are equally as beautiful as the wines are tasty.

The Champagne tour is a must ! The history of this place is evident in the staff, including the "riddler" who turns the champagne.
This stuff has been served at the White House and best restaurants for years...Get a private tour and see why.

Several years ago we visited Schramsberg with friends and have raved about it ever since. We went back last week and took our grown kids and their significant others. This time we were terribly disappointed! The tour/tasting was to last 1 hour 25 min., but entry to walking out the door was 55 min, including sitting around by ourselves visiting 10-15 min. The tour itself was not at all what they had for the same $60 price the first time. They only had two cave stops and they didn't share half the facts we were told before. The tasting was also disappointing, in that we were served $100-$120/bottle sparkling wine. Not everyone can afford that expensive of a bottle. Before we bought several cases, because the tasting was mostly their reasonable priced bottles with one glass of their high priced wines. It felt like they were pushing the outrageously priced bottles on us to make the high cost of the tour worth it. Honestly, we liked their mid-range wines much better anyway. Suggest skipping the tour, do a tasting at the counter, and save yourself the cash. (At least they USED to do tasting at the check out!) That may have changed too!

This is one of the original Napa vineyards and the home and some of the buildings have been restored to their original splendor. The tour, which includes the caves where the sparkling wines are made and aged, is very interesting and well worth your time. We had the $125 wine and cheese pairing tour. Sampled 4 of their sparkling, champagne style wines, a rose and Jamie Cabernet Sauvignon. The cheeses and fruits were excellent. Learned a lot about their wines. This tour is for about 12 people -don’t miss your appointment time.

This is the only winery that makes sparkling wine that comes anywhere near what is produced in Reims, France. The grounds are beautiful, the guides are delightful, the tastes are generous, the tour worth every minute, and the club membership is worth every penny. This is a NOT TO BE MISSED stop when visiting the sonoma/napa wine region!!!

Schramsberg Vineyards is nestled up on a hill and barely escaped the wildfires of October 2020. Jim guided us through our tasting while providing a history of the vineyard and the local area. Definitely recommend the “mixed” tasting, which includes sparkling and red wines. Loved the Brut Rosé, and the Davies Cabernet was one of the best I’ve ever had.

This is a "go-to" for anyone new to the Napa Valley experience. Important historical information and excellent tasting. Visitors are limited to groups of 8 so be sure to call well enough in advance to book a reservation time.

Excellent cave tour and private tasting at Schramsberg in Calistoga to celebrate our friend’s birthday. Schramsberg has an interesting history, and the winery’s cave network is impressive with close to 3 million bottles aging underground. We had a group of 22 that was booked for a mid-morning tour. They split our group into two tours, and we were not rushed at all. It was the perfect launch into discovering the area’s wineries, and the sparkling wine tasting included 5 glasses ($80 per person). Reservations for tastings are required. Strongly recommend seeing this beautiful winery and surrounding property.

This was our first tour. We had an amazing experience. We had a fabulous cave tour with Lisa. I had no idea of the manual process involved in these excellent bottles of bubbly. The beautiful tasting room and the small group size made this a great experience.

I have done Mumms, Domaine Districts, yet Schrams has a class of its own. I think travel alone, or with a few, not for larger than 10 people but worth every dollar. A must

If you enjoy tasting bubbly then this is the place. Tucked on top of hill in Calistoga, Schramsberg is a first class operation with great wines. In addition to their bubbly they make some great cabs and pinots. The staff is friendly and the gift shop always has accessories that will be attractive to wine lovers.

Our visit started out a little rough but dramatically improved. This was the third visit for me & my husband. It's was the first for our 24&25 year old daughters and their friends. Our host wanted to check their ID's which is fine but she asked about it in a very rude way which made everyone uncomfortable. Our host started the tour a little pretentiously but loosened up a lot 1/2 way through and even more by the time we finished with the caves & reached the tasting room. I've learned a different bit of information every time I've been to Schramsberg. Seeing the 3.2 million bottles in the caves is very cool & overwhelming. We loved everything be tasted and now know we prefer a higher concentration of Pinot Noir grapes in our sparkling wines. The J Davies Cab was outstanding. We'll be Schramsberg customers for life.

Interesting history, well presented and knowledgeable guide. She was very personable and kept our interest while moving us along at a comfortable rate.

While the tour and tasting were expensive worth it. Go right into the caves for tour and tastings. Excellent wines for some one who is not a Champagne fan. Beautiful grounds and the road up is amazing.

We had an excellent tour of Schramsberg and delighted in the tastings, which covered not only champagne but delicious reds as well. We experienced them stacking the champagne bottles, which is quite an event in itself, and the precision is amazing.

A sparkling wine tasting and tour is such a different experience from the norm. At least our tour at Schramsberg Vineyards was! Our tour guide, Ilya, took us on a delightful educational look at how sparkling wines are created. She also treated us to a tasting right in the caves where over 3 million bottles of sparkling wines and champagnes are just waiting to be released for public consumption. A candlelit table held the wine glasses and four champagnes that we were able to sample. What ambience for such special types of wine! Ilya was not only extremely knowledgeable about Schramsberg wines and their history, but was gracious enough to offer to take several pictures of those of us on the tour at various places within the caves. There was, however, a $60/person fee which was the highest we paid anywhere in Napa or Sonoma. Really great tour and very glad that we took it, but pricy, in my opinion.

Rimple did a good job though only in to his role over the last 6 months.
Sparkling wines are a good match to French but overpriced. As we were visiting from the UK we could not purchase wine to bring back with us so only tasted those offered on the tour.

Walking through the 19th century cave with its hand carved walls by Chinese immigrants who dug just 6 inches a day and stacked solid with aging sparkling wine inspires awe. Dark and the perfect temperature, the cave creates a the perfect natural environment for making sparkling wine. Lindsey led our tasting by candle light in the cave with insight into both Schramsburg's history and wine making philosophy. The J Schram bubbly is as good as it gets. While the cave ambience rocks for tasting, the slight moldy environment made capturing the "nose" challenging. Highly recommended.

As a couple we were able to walk up and join a tour without a reservation. As this was my first Napa winery the $70 per person tour fee was surprising but in the end worth it! Inside the cave is a different experience than a typical wine tasting. It was presented very elegantly and we learned all about the aging and riddling process. Brittney gave a great tour. She was knowledgeable, funny and welcoming for people who may or may not know much about fine champagnes. Overall, this was a wonderful tour and highly recommended.

This was our 6th tour/tasting at Schramsberg, and it is still wonderful. This time Tom led our tour and did a great job. He had some humor and was informative.

Best tour we went on! The caves were amazing and beautiful plus we learned a lot. The set up of the tastings couldn't have been better and we tasted some amazing sparkling wines and a $100 bottle of red which was so good that we bought one at the end. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and funny we couldn't have asked for more! So worth it a must do!

We did not have a chance to tour Schramsberg on our first trip to Napa Valley many years ago, so it was near the top of my to-do list on a return trip. I booked the tour about 10 days in advance during the slow season which is a MUST. They are only allowed a certain number of people through the caves each day which does not allow for walk-ins most of the time. The history of the place is fantastic, and I really enjoyed the White House memorabilia in the entryway. The tour was great and the pours were generous. We enjoyed many of the choices and left with a bottle of our favorite. I would highly recommend.

Our group had a special tasting in the champagne cellar lit with candles. Our very knowledge and great guide allowed us to choose our tastings between 2 champagnes and 2 wines. All of which were wonderful. Would definitely recommend booking ahead to come and taste the champagnes!

We did the tour and tasting here and we are so glad we did. Inside the caves is very cool and our tour guide did an awesome job telling us about the caves and the wines all while make it fun (Brittany). On top of a good tour their wine and sparkling wine is amazing. We ended up buying 3 bottles and will probably end up getting some shipped! Definitely spend the extra money for this tour, well worth it!

We have been customers for years, but this was the first time we took the tour. Highly recommend the cave tour for anyone. Pat was great in her tour of the facility and with her product knowledge. We finally decided to join the wine club after testing the different offerings.

if you go, please be advised to take the cave tour! We also did the sparkling wine tasting which was fabulous! We had Art as our guide and he was the best tour guide ever! Highly recommended!

We visited the winery and ended up having Brittany as our guide. She is so knowledgeable that by the time the tour was over everyone understood how much work goes into making "champagne". We went through the caves. Learned the history of the family. We had a great tasting that also included reds from their sister estate Davies. We bought 2 bottles of bubbly and 6 of the red. The wine was so good and the lessons were great. Blanc de Blanc will always be in my cellar!

We visited her a few years ago and after touring most of the other makers of sparkling wines we had to come back! Incredible operation. Interesting history. Fun tasting and tour. If you only visit one maker of sparkling make is Schramsburg! It isn't big, fancy or shiny, but it is the best!

.The tour was ok, rushed, our tour guide used way too many technical terms that were confusing to most of the group. When someone asked a question mainly comparing sparkling wines with Prossecco or Cavas her answers were short, some what rude. Tour of the processing was very interesting, overall experience ok.

Please book a tour and tasting with Schramsberg in advance and make this your first winery stop while in Napa Valley. You will not be disappointed! This is THE best sparkling winery so if you're a big champagne fan, this is where you need to go. Domaine Carneros does a pretty good job as well but Schramsberg produces the best product.
Schramsberg still does everything by hand. They stack all the bottles for aging by hand, ferment in oak, hand riddle/turn the bottles, they still utilize caves carved into the mountain for storage. The tour that you should book in advance includes a tour in these caves and a tasting of 4 sparkling and 1 red at the end. They let you try two of their most expensive bottles too.
I could go on and on about this winery. Please just visit it if sparkling wine is something you're interested in. It is worth the price.

We went on the 2:30 cave tour and had a great time! It is well worth the cost. The sparklings we tasted were all fantastic and so was the cab we finished with. I learned a ton!

My Husband and I chose this winery as 1 of our tours in Napa. We had a great day. We visited the caves and our guide was very informative. After the tour we got to taste the wines. They are sparkling wines and very good. This was one of our favourite visits. It was worth the $60 fee.

The tour and tasting here is a must do! It's amazing to see all of the bottles of bubbly in the caves and the tasting has some great pours!

We went and were put with several other couples, totaling 11 people. The tour of the caves was very educational and the wines were great, if you like sparkling wine (with the exception of 1). They wines were paired with cheeses and went well together. Our host was very knowledgeable about the winery and wine in general. Well worth the visit.

We did the Tour & Tasting with Limited Production Sparkling Wines Only and let me tell you it was worth the extra money. People, making Sparkling Wine in the Champagne Method is HARD; and with the challenge of making a complex wine comes a cost, that many people find to be worth it. Regardless, taking a tour of their caves is daunting and exciting for wine and history enthusiasts alike as this winery is one of the oldest in Napa. Their limited production wines are only available at the vineyard, or as a club member, and they are high quality wines that simply very few California wineries offer or make. All this is to say, please visit, this vineyard is a gem and worth every penny to partake in drinking the finest sparkling wine.

This tour was the absolute favorite of our family of six. The caves are eerily beautiful and learning the process of making sparkling wine is fascinating. My husband and I visited three years ago and did the tour that included a lovely seated tasting with six sparkling wines and thought the wines were wonderful. I was a little disappointed that we couldn't repeat that experience due to scheduling when we returned with our family, but it turned out to be a wonderfully different experience. This time we sampled still and sparkling wines in the caves by candlelight! Our tour guide, Brittney, was fun and informative. This was the best tour and some of the best wine ( I may be a little biased since I love sparkling wine) of our trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and tasting, it was a small group, so you could really enjoy the experience. We tasted quality sparkling wines, and were given a very informative overview of the history of the vineyard. I highly recommend this tout even if the price may seem high compared to others (groups are small and number of tours are limited)

In short, I’ll never give this place a dime of my money ever again. We did the $125/person tour. The wine, food pairings and tour guide were all amazing. The part that made our trip a never again was the owner. When we arrived at the parking lot, a truck was stopped, then suddenly started backing up all while not in a spot. My husband veered around as the truck was about a foot away from hitting us. The driver then yelled obscenities and blamed us for driving erratically...we pulled into a lot slowly and he clearly didn’t see us. He yelled about how we should be patient...patient for him to hit our car?!?! Turns out, he’s the owner. We saw his picture on the wall when we did our tour. We were prepared to buy a couple cases of wine, but instead we will happily spend our money at one of the other thousands of wineries in the area. Thanks for the warm welcome, Hugh. Hope you’re nicer to your staff than you were to your customers.

See what I did there with the title? We had a fun time at this "Vineyard". $60 per person tour starts with a brief history of the winery and its change of ownership and rise to the Whitehouse.
We learned a bit about the methode champenoise utilized on these locally sourced grapes. My husband even took a turn at riddling. As other reviews have indicated, we tasted 4 lovely sparklings and a pleasantly surprising J. Davies Cab.
I wanted to include a short video of the workers...for lack of a better term...pounding the bottles to release the fermented yeast from the bottom of the bottles but can't seem to do so...
Cheers!

Tom, our host did a wonderful job of educating us about the winery, the processes involved in the champagne way and conducting a wonderful tour of the underground cave system. This is fun, educational and classy! Another wine club, uh! We'll have to deal with it!
Great wine, great tour!
A lovely and fun 1 Hour and 15 min tour and tasting in their caves. A good overview of their Methode Champenoise, plus good explanation of the very long history of the winery and people that have owned it. One of Napa's musts, with what most folks consider America's best Sparkling wine made the traditional (French) way. And a very good and competitive Cabernet Sauvignon as well!
