Beautiful waterfall

By tmf7150 |

We stopped at Shoshone Falls. It is in a city park and costs $5 per car. We went in the summer and water was running, although not at a high capacity. Nice walking paths and visibility, even for someone with limited capacity to walk. A must stop if in the area. Great photo ops.

Breathtaking

By Icarus4335 |

Incredible views of the river and canyon all around the falls. The falls themselves are breathtaking. This is definitely a must-see if you are anywhere near Twin Falls. I grew up in NY and have been to Niagara Falls many times and this definitely rivals it in terms of beauty. There is an overlook for photos and a few signs nearby that explain the falls and the canyon.

MUST SEE location

By Beth K |

This was on our list of "must-do" things while we were exploring Idaho and we were not disappointed.

There were plenty of viewing spots for great pictures, especially those that include a rainbow in the mist. There is a small snack shop and souvenir stand with restrooms.

There is also a path that leads to the location where Evel Kenevil launched his rocket over the Snake River in the 1970s. We didn't go there because we heard there wasn't anything to see, but the path was well marked.

Beautiful!

By majz |

Worth a visit. So glad we stopped to see the falls. A little cold when we were there but worth the stop.

Amazing to See

By 2doglady |

Shoshone Falls was so awesome to see. It is beautiful! It is called the Niagara of the West. Now I have seen Niagara and I think that is a bit of a stretch...unless they are calling it that just due to its height. That does not diminish this sight, though, because it was so beautiful to see. It is in a small park and the signage made it easy to locate. You go down some stairs from the parking lot onto a platform for some great views of the falls. There are a number of parking spots but even if it was full, this is something that people go see and take some pictures and move on out. Highly recommend a stop here!

Great view!

By B. B. |

We visited in late September. The water isn't flowing at that time. Would love to see it in the spring! The actual formation of the rock/falls is very pretty and unique. The Snake River Canyon is amazing. If you come late in the year, don't expect a flowing falls.... More of a trickle. But if you can see past that and enjoy the beauty, don't miss it!

Only half the falls were flowing :(

By Erin |

Be aware that the falls aren’t always 100% flowing - it’s a 2-hour drive from Boise and only half the water was falling on June 3, so we were disappointed. There’s also no way to get very close to the falls and not much else to do there. Very pretty but could have been amazing.

Breathtaking and Gorgeous

By Darlene Z |

As a Buffalo, NY native, I've seen Niagara Falls more than I can count. The falls are as beautiful as billed, the Niagara of the West and prettier with even more character. Seeing it was mid-June, the water flow was plentiful. The grounds in the park are gorgeous and well kept making it a great spot for a picnic! For the $5 entry fee, it was well worth it.

We then went over to Dierke Lake for the 1.8 -hike around the lake. The scenery was spectacular. If you are going to do the hike, start to the left, with the entrance to the Lake Loop on the edge of the parking lot by the sign. That way, you will be doing more "downstairs" than "upstairs". We had a bit of confusion finding the start. Hint. There is a footbridge at the beginning. There will be little signs along the way to keep you on the Lake Loop. There is some trekking over rocks and some stairs to climb up/down. Overall, not a difficult hike. Gorgeous.

Awesome!

By Nancy M |

Just absolutely breath taking!!! There were quite a few people here, but everyone was being respectful and kind!

Worth the price of admission

By HeavyHiker |

This is a quick drive from the "downtown" Twin Falls area and its worth the $5 entry fee to see. The falls can be seen from the parking area, but is best seen by climbing down a set of stairs to the viewing platform. The area also has toilets and a snack stand with a decent amount of choices and reasonable prices. They also sells souvenirs - shirts, hats, magnets, etc. You won't be disappointed.

Great place to visit

By CatfriendDavis |

We loved Shoshone Falls. The waterfalls are intoxicating. Very enjoyable time; we hung around for a while just watching the water. There is also a picnic area and swimming spot just up the road before you leave the park. Nice if you want to spend a few hours there.

Shoshone Falls & Dierkes Lakes

By Jan |

You won’t be disappointed when you use Big Green Adventure Tours! Gabriella was amazing. She puts her heart and soul into her tours and makes you feel like family. The trip was fun, informative and the scenery was amazing! Thank you so much for making my day in Twin Falls unforgettable!

WOW

By Robert F |

Spectacular falls with beaviews up and down river. You would be hard pressed to fine a better water fall in the US. The small lake next to falls is a wonderful swimming"hole". The swim area is clean with a park and nice dock and diving board. And the best note is it is $5 a car. You can easily spend all day enjoying the area for $5. No better bargain have I ever found

Wow!

By kevan j |

This is truly an amazing and beautiful waterfall! I visited on a Tuesday (so there was plenty of parking) and during the Spring (so there was lots of water spilling over the falls). Absolutely stunning! I could have stood there and stared at it forever. And the roaring sound coming up from the falls was most hypnotic. The best views are from right there next to the parking lot. I also hiked to the other view points and they were amazing too, but nothing really different. Plenty of grass and tables for a picnic. Clean restrooms and a nice gift shop too. My guess is the falls would have been even more spectacular earlier in the Spring.

No water falls at the Shoshone Falls State Park! Not Covid-19 safe!

By Sherry P |

Expecting Shoshone Falls to look like the photograph posted on Tripadvisor, my husband & I were shocked to find only two trickles. It is disappointing to think that all that water has been diverted to irrigation. Is there no room for shared needs? It is no wonder there was no fee collected upon entrance to the park! We packed a picnic dinner to enjoy, but again, it was difficult to enjoy the park because 99% of the visitors were NOT wearing masks. There is a pandemic raging in Idaho...and no one seems to care about their own well-being or the well-being of others. Our favorite restaurant, Elevation 486, was closed due to staffing problems related to Covid-19. One overnight stay in Idaho was one night too long!

Amazing Falls

By Christina B |

What beautiful falls to see. Love the rainbow that appears as well. Great look out points & walkways. There are stairways to get down to lookout points. You can still see it from above, although they need to trim back some bushes that do block views from above. There is a great park area to stop & eat or relax as well. There’s also a little fall along the road going in.

Beautiful waterfalls!

By tan910 |

I didn't know what to expect when we went to the Shoshone Falls. It was breathtaking! Not only that, but there were trails to hike and on the other side of the falls was Dierks Lake. We swam and walked around and ran into the groundskeeper. He informed us that there were several trails and hidden lakes. We were excited and went back the next day. We didn't get to the hidden lakes but did hike around the area. Our goal when we return is to find one of those hidden lakes!

This was a family trip and there was plenty to do! And it was only $5 per car!

Very Sad

By OpenHeartTravel |

Nature’s magnificent beauty raped and bound. With a fence around the falls so you can’t even have a natural experience to be with the water. Power lines all above. Like a low budget Disney experience. All the photos you see that promote it deceptively avoid showing the power lines or that it’s a damn. So sad.

Beautiful!

By Erin S |

Beautiful view...... even with minimal water! I can only
Imagine the breathtaking view when the water is at its peak!! Many other smaller waterfalls in the area as well!

Impressive waterfall.

By chadz52 |

It’s a water fall so when you get there you see a water fall from about 500 yards away. It is impressive but the Sunday we went the line of cars was long and slow. Consequently, there were several hundred people trying to take selfies. Lots of places to picnic. Don’t go on weekend and go early.

Beautiful Wedding Location

By LiveGreatStories |

We had the opportunity to attend a relative’s weddjng in front of the falls. The falls are turned on through Labor Day weekend and there are several overlooks to capture amazing photos. There are several hiking trails nearby and access to Dierkes Lake.

Pretty views, nice area to walk

By EnjoyTheJourney |

The falls were cute. I saw families there having picnics and things. It was a great area to just walk around in and go for a bike ride. Be prepared for the $5 entry fee they will take cash or card.

Best view probably happens after May 1st

By Linda010659 |

We went to see the falls on April 9th and only half the falls were active. It was still very pretty but now we will have to imagine what the falls look like when it is flowing at 100%.

Beautiful Falls, Nice viewing areas

By moodblu |

On our way home to Utah from a trip to Ketchum Idaho, we stopped at Twin Falls Idaho, to go see Shoshone Falls, on the Snake River. The falls are located just northeast of the city of Twin Falls. We had to trust our GPS to find it, as the route to get there isn’t well marked. This is a natural waterfall, enhanced with a dam to facilitate a hydroelectric plant. The flow of the falls varies seasonally depending on spring runoff amounts, and the irrigation, industrial and the hydroelectric needs for the water. When we saw it, the water level was termed “moderately low”, but was still quite impressive and beautiful. The geology in itself is quite interesting. I would like to return there when the water level is high to get the full effect. The views down the river are quite pretty, and there are trails that you can walk to get different views of the area. There is a free view area above, but its well worth the $5 per car to go down below to the park with the nice view areas and trails.

Magnificent Falls

By Pene K |

Great view of the Falls on the Snake River, cascading in tiers. Park and picnic grounds a refreshing location for a restful stopping point. Good information on the geological and historical details of the region. Lots of water going over in August, but a local said it is magnificent in late spring, when the river is running full.

Niagara of the West

By Alison P |

Niagara of the West. 212 feet tall and 900 foot wide, it's one of the largest natural waterfalls in the United States.

A beautiful area with incredible falls that flow into a canal. It's $5/car to get ino the park. They have informational panels, lots of viewing points. There's a lovely park/picnic area. They also have a walk up to the canyon rim trail for more views.

Very nice place to visit!

By PaulEugeneG |

We went on a Saturday afternoon to enjoy the view. Quite a nice little park where you can hang out. Enjoyed the several viewing areas. Nice visit!

Hidden gem

By Francesca W |

In a very peaceful area with not many tourists. The falls are spectacular and there is a great view down onto them. Warning-the gps may take you the wrong way!

Beautiful waterfall along the Snake River with scenic grounds...

By wesinsac |

Beautiful grounds and falls with a cool stair cased overlook all for the entry fee of just $5. It is hard to believe that this waterfall is larger than Niagara Falls in New York, but it is....check out my YouTube video on our channel at: Adventures with Wes and Jeff for more information and to see the photos and videos I took on our adventure.

Go See The Falls In The Evening At Its Most Beautiful

By kedalion1 |

This good-sized park on the South Bank of the Snake River gives you a fantastic view of the Falls, which opens up to the Northeast of you, as well as the deep canyon the river cuts as it flows west across your view to your left. We came to the park in the late afternoon on Labor Day, and were dazzled by how the lowering sun bathed everything in a golden light - absolutely gorgeous, with or without vast fans of bubbling white water. Beware though, the Power Company can stop the flow of the Snake at any time to build up the water level for their hydro power - I guess its not unreasonable for the people of Twin Falls to want electricity! There are live web cams you can check out to see how the water's running, but believe me - its worth an hour or two of your time to see this!= either way!

Amazing

By Linda B |

Waterfall fans.....see this waterfall. Simply beautiful. Many places to take pictures and just listen to the falls roar.

Pretty!

By Melissa Vibbert |

A short drive out of the city and a lovely sight to see. From what I understand, it's a sight to see in the spring with the water levels are higher. I found it very pretty being able to see the rocks. Very interesting history to the formation of the canyon.

Falls were dry late September

By Jennifer J |

The dam controlled falls were dry and not falling late September. They were still pretty and had some nice Vista points but I wished they were active.

Glorious View

By Tootallal |

There are a couple of vantage points to see the falls. Also a little shop with hot dogs and T shirts. We drove over an hour to get here and it was worth it.

Quick stop to stretch with beautiful views

By kevinlaslie |

On our way across Idaho we stopped to stretch our legs. Absolutely beautiful. Takes a little detouring to get to it, but very much worth the effort.

Several in One

By Junior |

There were several smaller falls around the larger Shoshone Falls. Very beautiful and could be seen from several different viewing stations. A very well maintained park.

Social Media: "Niagra of the West!" Reality: "When your faucet is set to a light trickle"

By Phlenin |

Unfortunately, this is like those Tik Toks you see where it shows the social media vs. reality view. I've actually wanted to visit these falls for a long time and have considered the 2.5 hr drive JUST to see them before but never pulled the trigger. Thank goodness! We happened to be in the area and took a quick 30 min detour to see them. I was so excited to show my family after seeing what this placed looked like online. There's a $5 vehicle charge (reasonable), but what they DON'T tell you is the current status of the falls when you go in. I was SO surprised at what it looked like that I actually apologized to my family for the wasted time/money/expectations. On our way out, I asked the lady at the payment booth about it and she sheepishly said "Yeah..... it's really low this time of year. In the Spring it's better than Niagra, but this time of year it's pretty low." Yeah, no kidding. It would be nice if they were transparent about that before charging you to enter. So, if you're headed there and it's not springtime, maybe adjust your expectations. Like.........a lot.

Road trip 2020

By Maggie C |

Nice place to walk around and see all the beautiful falls. Many areas to look out to capture the site. Clean and friendly area

Always a treat.

By Holly M |

2023 has been an exceptional water year and the falls are flowing beautifully! We got to the park before 9 am on a Thursday and were able to park right up close to the main viewing platform. It was not crowded at all. But by the time we left an hour later, it was really starting to fill up. I've been here many times and at all different sorts of flows and it's worth it every time! The spray made a double rainbow just past the platform, which was a treat to see. The interpretive signs were interesting to read. The park is very shady and pretty, and would be perfect for a little picnic.

Worth seeing

By Charmel W |

If you are driving through Twin Falls and on a tight time line take the time to stop and see these falls. Beautiful and well worth the stop.

Easy viewing

By NorcalTami |

Easy access to see the falls. Go to the road to the lake and bring your suit! Such a cute little swimming hole there. Also the canoe rentals looked like fun. Wish we had more time there.

Great site

By Tdidymus |

Best to see in the spring when there is plenty of flow. It is still interesting in the fall but less dramatic

Really lovely (even though the dam only had the main falls going)

By VanetaRogers |

Easy to find - nice drive through Twin Falls. Huge parking lot. Easy walk to the overlook to see the falls. Very clean park. Several kiosks explaining the geology and history of the area. The falls themselves are STUNNING, even though the day we went, the dam only had the one main falls going (they control the flow -- we went in August, when the river is low, so we felt lucky to see the big main falls!)

Beautiful spot. Pet friendly.

By MarkFL-USA |

It's off the beaten trail. You take a couple of country roads from the main hiway up to the falls. plan on staying 30 minutes. If you want to hike, there is a nice set of trails along the river by the falls. It's pet friendly.

Absolutely beautiful

By Bryan P |

We went to Shoshone Falls on a tour with Big Green Adventure Tours. We highly recommend their tours. Our guide was extremely professional, knowledgeable, personable and we had a wonderful time, learned a lot and it is absolutely beautiful. It was a very small group and well worth the time and money. Check them out!!

Experiencing the Power of Shoshone Falls: A Must-See Natural Wonder in Idaho with Vancity Adventure

By Vancity Adventure |

We just visited Shoshone Falls and loved the power of the falls. Standing over 200 feet tall, the falls are truly awe-inspiring. The road down is very narrow, but the stunning views make it worth the trip. The surrounding park offers great spots for picnics and walks, and the dramatic Snake River Canyon adds to the experience. Shoshone Falls is a must-see destination in Idaho. Vancity Adventure

Shoshone Falls

By Decaf4me |

Always love to visit the falls. Known as the Niagara of the West there is usually a water show, this year is the first time I have ever seen no water ever...

Beautiful

By Drew M |

Beautiful falls ... must be really impressive in the spring with the snow melt coming down the river!

Pretty location with plenty of places to take a picture

By William H |

Very pretty location with plenty of places to take in the view. The staff were helpful and it was easy to find a place to park. There were also plenty of places to walk our puppies, but it did get a bit crowded and many visitors were not following national safety recommendations for social distancing or wearing face masks. That point was clearly evident at every Idaho location we stopped at.

A must stop

By kes1639 |

We were driving from Idaho Falls to Boise and Twin Falls was a little over half way point. We stopped to see the falls ($5 charge per car or if you have a National Park Pass of somekind it is free). Even with what they called a low water flow it was still spectucular. Husband had never heard of this falls before we stopped. You can walk there from the Visitors Center (4 miles each way) if you want.

Must see near Twin Falls!

By Barb B |

The drive to the falls is beautiful and the falls are worth seeing! Not crowded this time of year and some lingering fall colors made it beautiful.

Nice waterfalls to view

By Dick Z |

Twin Falls is famous for it's waterfalls and the Shoshone Falls are certainly worth a visit. Easy to find, just follow the signs. There is a $5 entrance fee for parking. Down below there is a kiosk, toilets and a viewing platform. Apparently there is another trail from there, but we did not see it and wondered if it would be worth our while.

Beautiful Falls

By BlackRoseCher |

Great views of beautiful falls. The only bad thing is the parking or rather lack of. But once you get a place the falls are beautiful

Should be 1 of the Wonders of the world

By Lynelle D |

This is 1 of the most beautiful falls ever. It is breathtaking. I would rate it 10 stars if possible. Whatever snowflake wrote it is a waste of time is a very sad person. Please ignore that post. We are from out of state, avid travelers and I honestly cannot say enough good things about this hidden beauty. It is a must see. They do control the amount of water that flows over, but show me a falls that isnt controlled. Thats the beauty of the modern world. Do not pass this falls up. It is worth packing a picnic and spending some time here. Dog friendly also.

Nice little detour

By Tess |

This is known as the Niagara Falls of the West. It is a pretty little spot. Worth the detour for a few good pics. There are several viewpoints and trails.

Beautiful

By Bellaire56 |

Love the scenery, the area, the hiking. In October, there was low water level at the falls. You can see some great photos of what it looks like (normally) at the visitors center by Perrine Bridge. Pretty nonetheless, especially for first timers.

Breathtaking views... Variety of activities available

By Sebrina M |

I have lived in Twin Falls almost 40 years, and it's still worth it to me to purchase the season pass every year. There are several trails, some paved, some not; so depending on your ability, there are trails for all. The views can still be breathtaking. My favorite is early sunrise on a lightly cloudy day when the falls are running at a fuller capacity. That's a thought-- sometimes the falls are running at a lower capacity, then they are not at their best, but still worth seeing. There are picnic areas available for family events or just an intimate family picnic; and there's plenty of room for outdoor games. Bring your camera or phone!!! Several smaller waterfalls throughout the canyon, along with boulders, a variety of trees, and mossy rocks, etc. make beautiful backdrops.

To discover!

By MAEVA A |

Very nice place with possibility to follow the Snake River on a trail with stunning views. The falls are impressive even in July in 35 degrees. Refreshment possible in Dike Lake not far from the falls.

Beautiful

By Two-Mile-Hi-Diver |

Had no idea it was this big, awesome place to visit. Took walking path to other vista points to enjoy the view. Well maintained, paved paths (easy walk).

Privatized land

By Chris A |

Was pretty disappointed to see private homes all over the place. This is what happens when we hand over our country’s precious natural resources. Sad.

Bears Ears is next.

Surprise! There it was!

By Vic S |

What an incredible surprise! We drove over a very flat terrain and entered a city, after passing a very commercial area, we turned the corner and started downhill and suddenly we were in a huge canyon with stark, straight, deep walls of rock. After a few twists and turns, a huge waterfall appeared below us. It was a low water period, so only part of the falls was going. Despite that, it was still a huge surge of water. Just a great sight. There are some trails for short hikes. There's plenty of parking and even a small refreshment stand with public rest rooms. They even honored our National Parks Senior Pass. Well worth a visit.

Worth the $7 entry fee

By Kelly B |

Even the drive down to the viewing areas is beautiful: you pay the $7 fee (not sure if they accept cards; we had cash) at the top of the canyon, and then drive down to the parking lot. We drove past a pretty little waterfall along the way.

There are several different viewpoints, each with a different perspective. I thought the best was the platform. You do need to go down a flight of stairs to get to the viewing platform.

There were relatively clean restrooms with running water. Also a small building with gift shop items available for purchase,

Can be disappointing at times of year

By okichewy1 |

If you want to see great water flows, best to go in like April-early June before the water slows down. Nice park, has boat launch. They re-did the road down to the park area.

Tourist attraction

By Telissa A |

This a very beautiful place in the geography history. It is outdoors and an excellent place to take pictures. Easy access for everyone. Beautiful worth the stop

A side trip while traveling to Boise

By dhejl2019 |

More than I expected. There was good signage to have the best view. It was easy to get to from the interstate.

A must see if you are in Twin Falls

By LanceM |

I never really knew this existed as I don't come this way often. Twin Falls was just an overnight for us on a road trip. I am super happy we stopped here before leaving town.

Misted my glasses - great view of Niagara of the West

By Lynn B |

Great view once you are there. Visitor center map is only partially correct. Watch for guiding signs. Fantastic views with great displays telling about the history, construction and use of Snake River water. Nice viewing facilities but no place to just vegetarian out to sound or sight. Crowds were polite and moved through viewing area well. The site accepts National Park Passes instead of 5 dollar entrance fee.

Stunning Views, Friendly People

By Lisa M |

Stunning views, lots of hiking trails, running water in restrooms, and lots more f bargains at gift shop / snack bar. Buy your post cards & magnets here. I must have taken 20-30 photos of the falls from various vantage points.

Niagara of the West

By Dgaldattrvls |

Such a beautiful place I never knew existed. I am so glad to have visited this place. The waterfalls was absolutely breathtaking. We walked around the park after to learn more about its history.

A great place to visit when the water is high.

By TFDAZ |

This is a City of Twin Falls park that offers great views of the Snake River. Best time to go is in May-June when upstream water flow is high.

I want to go back!

By Deborah K |

1 day at twin Falls. we stayed in Jerome to be out of the city.
Cycle along the rim trail of the Snake river for a beautiful view and spend time watching base jumper from the Perrine Coulley Bridge.

Worth a Stop

By Katie |

We came here as a rest stop on the road from Boise to Jackson Hole. The falls offered a great photo opportunity and a picturesque view. We spent about 15-30 minutes here. I don't know if there are hikes in the area, but it would have been nice to stay a little longer. This is a must-do if you are passing through Twin Falls.

Idaho Vacation

By JAS |

Great location and many places to take in the view. Well worth the trip. We drove from Boise to Shoshone Falls.

Beautiful, hidden gem, in the middle of nowhere.

By Christine C |

Beautiful place and super clean, well kept grounds. Sadly, when we went the falls weren't going but the view was still amazing.

Beautiful Falls

By The_Wanderer1992 |

While on vacation, my husband and I stopped at the Shoshone Falls The falls and area are very pretty. Crowds were minimal and did not distract from the view. They have a small stand to buy gifts from. Nearby the falls is a hike to a place where the daredevil, Evel Knievel, unsuccessfully jumped from and broke his nose.

Check if the dam is open FIRST!

By Octopus |

Shoshone falls is one of the/ if not the most beautiful fall in Twin City. If you are planning to go there, I strongly suggest to check if the dam is open. Why? Because a dam is built on top of this fall, and the water is used for local usage. If summer has been very dry/ winter hasn't been much snowy, the dam will NOT open up. That means this fall will be DRY! what we experience this Nov! Bone dry!

Caldron Linn (close to town, but a bit tricky to get to) is a gorgeous natural falls (really 3 falls) with no dam built on top of it!!! so it would always have water! I would strongly suggest going there also! You walk along this nice river (great rock formation), and then you get surprised by this fall!

Spectacular falls in spectacular Idaho

By Lukas |

Having visited all US states, I can confidently say that this is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the whole country, and that’s saying a lot. Well worth a visit!

3 miles out of Twin Falls. There was a cost to enter, but well worth it.

By Cynthia W |

Cost of $5.00 seems to keep the place looking clean. Nice paved roads to get there. Restrooms and a gift shop. The platform to take pictures of the falls is great. About 15 years ago we were here and there was a trickle of water coming over the falls. Today the Falls were full of water. What a beautiful Falls, and we were so fortunate that there was so much water. The sun is best in the afternoon on the falls so plan your visit.

Gorgeous scenery

By sdrath |

We’ll worry the $5 per vehicle entrance fee. Absolutely stunning waterfall in gorgeous surroundings. You don’t need to spend too long to have a good time.

Such beauty!

By Rhonda W |

The falls were absolutely gorgeous! There is parking and a nice trail to walk along the falls area. Great area for photos!

just a nice view

By TravellersKid |

We anticipated a beautiful waterfall view based on other reviews and recommendations, but we were left slightly disappointed. Compared to Mesa Falls or even the Sioux Falls, this left us feeling Meh. It was better than the Twin Falls which had one side dammed up.

Falls are beautiful

By Daryl H |

The falls are great. Be ready to pay the $5 entry fee. Be sure to ask for a map otherwise you will be lost. That is because signage is poor. Be prepared to bring water or pay for some at the souvinor shop. Bathrooms are dirty and need work. Falls are spectacular. As the city's main attraction, it could use some care with the details.

Pay $5 per Vehicle to see the Falls

By PandaHouston |

We came to Shoshone Falls on Labor Day Monday 9/7. The park was quite busy and there was a line of cars to pay and get in. Entrance is $5 per car and they do take credit card.

The best part is you can park, walk a few steps and get great views of Shoshone Falls at the overlook. The day we came to Twin Falls, it was crazy windy.

Nice view

By pers0nalview |

It is definitely worth seeing if you are in the area. It is just outside of Twin Falls. I didn't take a lot of time this round but they have a nice little park setting with tables and a concession stand. If you are doing it with the family this would be a perfect picnic spot. Worth seeing at least once.

Don’t bother in the fall... someone turned the falls off!

By Jhanoch |

After reading all the great reviews we went out of our way to see the Twin Falls. We arrived to find the falls shut off. Apparently they divert the falls for local irrigation. We must have missed it by only a day or two as other recent reviews raved about the falls. Check before making the trip.

Actually saw some falls this time!

By Natsy42 |

I’ve been here twice in autumn and never seen the falls beyond a trickle. It was fun to see it going more in July. That said, I think it would be best in spring. An excellent thing to check is the live webcam they have on the falls, then you won’t be disappointed when you go. Thwres a great park around the falls for picnics and short walks. There is a small entrance fee.

wonderful

By Voyager |

Very beautiful. We spent an entire day here and just relaxed. Very serene and sound of water made it perfect

Awesome

By harryatkck |

These falls are awesome to see. They are in a park that costs $5 a car to enter. However, if you have a National Parks entrance card, they will honor it & you can go in for free.

Definitely worth a stop by

By Mike D |

As we were told there is a drought they don't let the water out till about 8:45 am.. but it was very nice to see as it turned on and watch the water flow down the falls worth the $5 to enter the park.. everything was groom the bathrooms were clean..

Expansive views, no falls in November

By USN_Seabee_Wife |

Stopped to see the falls and were disappointed that there were none, but it wasn't a bust. The expansive views were breathtaking and there was cool frozen ice 🧊!

Good View Even in Late Summer

By Rudy B |

Even with low river flow the falls are a good view. You see some large springs while driving to the view point. My wife's handicapped placard got us in for free.

Stunning views. Must visit if you’re in the area.

By Robert J |

The falls are stunning. Easy to get to great photo opportunities. The park is immaculate well maintained by local volunteers.

Pretty View

By TJ H |

If you park at the first parking lot, you'll get a bonus mini-hike down to the falls. It's a nice quick stretch if you've been in the car for a while.

Amazing falls.

By Kamaaina |

Most impressive waterfalls I've seen in the continental U.S. other than Niagra. The best view is from the far western platform that takes 8 minutes to walk to.

Spectacular fall

One of best sightseeing in Twin Falls city of Idaho. About 5km from city, this fall is in snake river canyon. Also called Niagara of west, 212 feet tall (higher than Niagara), 1000 feet wide. Views are spectacular. We'll maintained park, parking area, benches to relax. Water flow is seasonal.
Vehicle entry fee is $ 5. Washrooms are there.
Must visit place

Good for quick trip

By Terri K |

This takes 30 -60 minutes, the kids liked it, but a pretty quick trip. We went up to the lake that is also included, and enjoyed the playground

Impressive nature

By Ute S |

Deep in a canyon you can visit the great waterfalls. If someone makes a stopover in Twin Falls, the sight is worth the $5 entrance fee!

Beautiful!

By Larissa L |

Absolutely beautiful and lots to see. Road to the falls was a bit scary but fun. Water levels are down but still the beauty is there!

This is a must see!

By Gofarrer |

Can’t get over the beautiful area and the falls; I will bring others and talk this one up! Amazing! Very close to town and easy access!

Breathtaking!

By Faster Changes |

I went here in July with a friend. The views are incredible. Wonderful photo opportunities. Many different places to stand and take in the falls. Some places to walk around, picnic, and it seemed to me ample parking.

Check the flow before you go

By Mike F |

What I'm posting here will be the most welcoming information I hope you will be able to find about Shoshone falls. It is beautiful and worth the trip when the falls are flowing at full capacity. It depends what time of year you visit. In the late summer or fall don't expect more then a trickle if any water at all. Yes sometimes there is no flow. Go to the website Shoshone Falls Park and go to the bottom of the page to the LIVE FEED. Clicking on this will send you to the live feed which is an accurate up to minute view of the falls. The flow changes constantly so make sure you do this during their normal operating hours and before you go. I'm giving this attraction a poor rating because they need to have more accurate information on the falls Water flow before you get charged the entry fee.

Very impressive

By Mark M |

Main reason we went to Twin Falls was to see this. It was well worth it. They call it the Niagra Falls of the West.

Great stop

By plumfairyia |

Worth the 20 minute drive off interstate . We had never heard of it and stopped and spent some time admiring the beauty of the falls . It is the niagara fall of the West and we thought it was more spectacular

Beautiful and awe inspiring

By George H |

Just as it is advertised. Beautiful and awe inspiring. We stayed for over an hour just looking at the falls from all different angles. The park around it is beautiful too. Very clean and a perfect place for a picnic. Don't miss it!

Great View of the Waterfall

By ThomasTCat |

Although we weren't able to see the waterfall when it was in full force during the Springtime, it was still beautiful and well worth the trip. There was enough water flowing in late July to still classify it as a destination well worth visiting.

Beautiful

By Krista Y |

We went early Fall so the falls were not huge, but they were still beautiful. Would love to see in the Springtime. It's just a short drive from town and cheap entrance fee per vehicle.

Not worth the 5 dollar entry fee

By love |

You have to pay a 5 dollar entry fee, there are no parking spaces, and the one fall/dam is way far down, you can't go down to the river, just view from top, not worth the 5 dollars at all.

Amazing

By Kimberly W |

This place is amazing in the spring when the run-off is better. When we were there not a lot of water was going over, but still a nice view.

Must See

By elchaco |

We were driving by as part of a longer road trip, but we made a quick stop to check out the waterfalls. Definitely worth a stop, even if it's quick. The park is very nice, even though we didn't get to explore, it looked well taken care of and clean.

The Niagara Falls of the West

By Tamara |

We came to Twin Falls to see the Niagara Falls of the West, Shoshone Falls. They pride themselves in the fact that some benefactors blight the surrounding land and donated it to the city in the early 1900’s. This means that it is not commercialized at all. Only beautiful nature. We also did the Centennial Hike from the rim and there were several bench seats along the way to capture the amazing view of the Falls. We loved it! It is one of nature’s beauties.

Great place to visit!

By KD |

Shoshone Falls is an excellent place to visit. It’s extremely beautiful. You can feel the mist even from the viewpoints! The lake is also very nice, and the swimming area has a diving board and everything. Would definitely recommend it to anyone around the city of Twin Falls!

Sight seeing

By G Brown |

Beautiful views! Nice trail to walk on. Next visit would like to rent bikes to ride on the path or canoes for the river. Lots of grass and shade for picnics.

Awesome!

By seescokid |

Not Niagara still very neat
Don’t know what to else to say.
Stopped down the canyon with my 2 son in laws after centennial park

Wow!

By janjajones |

Much larger and louder than expected. We had a beautiful day to see the falls and a full rainbow in the mist.

Gorgeous!

By Rebecca S |

This is worth your time to stop by. If you love waterfalls, you won’t want to miss this! You don’t need to spend a lot of time here, but you could if you take the trails and bring a picnic lunch.

Pretty but not worth going out of your way for unless you’ve never seen waterfalls before

By Tink0707 |

I’d heard this was spectacular- bigger than Niagara Falls (which I’ve seen) and we just felt “meh”. Perhaps it’s because we’ve traveled extensively & have been into Iceland, Hawaii & many other awesome places to see amazing waterfalls…. This really isn’t anything all that inspiring. It’s $5 to get in & you can park & walk right up to the falls - but it’s just an observation area. There were people on kayaks in the water below, which would probably be neat to do. We had planned to do a little hiking but none of the trails were marked. We arrived about 10:30a on a Saturday & parked with no problem. We went up the road to the lake & it was busy, but fine.
If you’ve never been to any waterfalls before, it might be worth it, but otherwise I’d skip it,

Beautiful views

By Nancy T |

This is a must see for everyone visiting Twin Falls and it’s free! The drive down is narrow and winding, but well worth the view.

Stunning Sight and Beautiful Falls

By Joel K |

The falls' setting were just beautiful along the Snake River. Beautiful and vistas and outlooks. The history of the area from the First Nations to the early settlers was just fascinating. The use of the river power for electricity and power and recreational activity of all sorts.

Vacation

By Randalynnd@gmai... D |

The falls r pretty. The best time to visit and see them.at the fullest is in the spring. The road getting to it is a little treacherous.

Breathtaking

By Sue G |

So pretty and massive. Loved seeing a rainbow. The park surrounding it really nice. Nice parking area.

Shoshone Falls

By Shannon W |

Entrance fee is now $5 a car. Little merchandise shop and restrooms are on site. Pretty picture of a couple of waterfalls. You have to understand that the falls is nothing like Niagara but they are interesting.

Must See

By kathytE218FI |

When visiting a friend in Idaho we decided to make the trip to see the falls. Definitely should be on everyone's "Must Do" list when checking out Idaho. Stunning views.

Greedy city

By susan c |

This used to be such a beautiful place until the city destroyed it. Put a cash cage up so the people who live here have to pay. Allowed people to build McMansions all along the edge of the canyon. The city is greedy and only cares about money. Fools missed the opportunity to preserve this most unique area.

We were there at the right time.

By Herman02 |

WOW! They call themselves little Niagara Falls of the West and they are.... It was really running full bore while we were there and it was unbelievable to see. Complete with the spray and you could have used a rain coat at least for parts of the viewing. Small entry fee, but worth it and you can wander to various and assorted view points, which I would recommend. Not hard to find.

Beautiful waterfall and canyon

By GoAlong2 |

We came in the early evening on a warm day and enjoyed the cool spray from this massive waterfall. There are multiple viewing platforms as well as a trail along the canyon. Although the road to the falls is narrow with several sharp turns, the park by the river is spacious. There is a fee to enter the park. Some of the viewing platforms have stairs, but they jut out to provide clear views of the falls. It's a must see stop when visiting the area.

Spectacular

By Pitt-Duq |

The falls are a great place to stop while you are in Twin Falls Idaho. There’s a nice little park there to spend time and view the falls from a couple of platforms.

A remarkable destination for an impromptu roadtrip

By Michelle W |

I am local (within a couple of hours) to the falls, but I hadn't been. Loving car trips, we decided to make a day by going to the falls. The Shoshone had a few tourists, but we were also directed to the Twin Falls which had no people there. Props to the ladies at the concession stand for the inside tip. It was a lovely day. My recommendation would be this - check the water flow. I went early in the season and was very impressed with the flow. I showed some pictures to a friend who stated, "Oh, you went when it was slow." What??? I need to go back. Go when the snow melt is underway and water is fully flowing, not March. There is a lot of eateries nearby plus shopping if you like all of that, but the falls are amazing. You can take your dog and there is some walking and hiking you can do for any leve.

Nice Falls

By VillagerRick |

Easy to get to, down a winding road, and a modest entry fee (note: if you have a National Parks Pass that is good for entry). We found it hard to believe that this is higher than Niagara, but it is nowhere as wide. Parking can be a challenge depending on how crowded it is, and they have a small souvenir stand with some snacks available.

Beautiful waterfall that is easy to access

By Charley T |

Beautiful waterfall! Well worth the short detour to see this picturesque waterfall. Easily accessible for a quick look at some wonderful scenery.

out of the way, but worth a visit if you are in the area

By mrc282 |

do take note of the water level before visiting to avoid disappointment. there is a live webcam for you to check

I visited when the water is mid level so it is not the most impressive but it is not bad either.

the best time is spring months but it also depends when they release the dam water.

entrance fee is $5.

Must visit Idaho place

By Kami B |

I grew up in the area and I ALWAYS bring visitors here. They are always surprised how huge and beautiful the falls are. Most people never see these types of falls in their lifetime. I do recommend that you visit spring to early summer for maximum waterfall effect. Truly stunning.

Seven wonders of Idaho

By Tyrell Cellan |

Came here with my family to show them this incredible sightthe comes complete with a viewing platform. There are several paths to walk down. A souvenirs and snack shop is in the parking area. They have a commemorative squishing penny machine. Definitely a sight to see i. Twin Falls.

Magnificent!

By KayeSwan |

These were some of the most beautiful falls I've ever seen. I actually preferred them to Niagra because theire's a lot more going on than just one big splash. Lots of colors and levels to these falls. Spectacular, even in the Fall when the water level is lower. Can't imagine how beautiful it would be in the spring.

Such a serene, calming sight!

By PhlegmMaster |

We were here 4 years ago, and coming back to see the area again was worth it!

It's one of those places where you just silently reflect on the beauty of the world, and remind yourself that Life is precious beyond measure.

First time at the falls

By LifeBeginsAt170 |

We decided to break the home sequestered thing and take an overnight drive up to Twin Falls and see the sights. The falls did not disappoint. So much water spilling over it is just amazing. Not quite as impressive as Niagara Falls but really close.

Wow

By jpk05 |

Me and my son took a day trip to the falls today. I was beautiful. We had a great time climbing rocks, skipping stones, and just hanging out. It was a great father-son day in an amazing spot. I've never seen anything like this before.

Fun side trip !

By Jenn C |

$5 to get in and take pics of the amazing waterfall and river ! A must see if in Twin Falls. Plenty of parking and felt safe there.

Beautiful waterfalls

By ConfederateMike |

Even though the water flow in mid-May wasn't very fast or abundant there was enough to appreciate the beauty of this attraction.

Great view

By Roy F |

Fantastic view and best to go in the morning. After viewing the falls, go for the walking trail and enjoy the nature.

Shoshone Falls Visit

By Richard J |

First time there. Inexpensive to visit. Great view of the falls. Will have to go back when there isn't a drought so we can enjoy the full effects of it. Worth the visit.

WOWEE

By Julie M |

This waterfall is something you should not miss. So glad we didn't listen to the guy in the campground that said it was an hour past Twin Falls (try three miles buddy).

An unexpected beauty

By Penny D |

I’d been through Twin Falls before but never seen the falls, and they are well worth a visit. Impressive in any case, they are made all the more so because they are surrounded by plains and you just don’t expect to see such a spectacle in a spot like that. There are a number of cascades, many viewpoints, and we got some great photos. If you’re in the area don’t miss these falls.

Drove up from Nevada

By Johnny J |

Just had to see these Falls so drive up from Elko where we were staying. Nice park staff. Good overlooks and trails for a fantastic waterfall. Saw a rainbow from a downstream overlook. Some interesting plant and wildlife, too. Clean restrooms and well-landscaped facility. Many families were enjoying themselves on this hot Friday afternoon. Good parking.

Absolutely amazing

By Stephany johnson |

This wont disappoint you. Absolutely stunning. We had our toddler with us but held her the entire time. Be very careful with your little ones!!!

Shoshone Falls experience.

By patmariner55 |

The views were amazing. Like the fact that you can actually walk from your car and view the falls immediately. We were there on a weekday and not too crowded. Adequate parking and dog friendly area as long as your pup is on a leash.

Gorgeous View, Beautiful Park

By Lori B |

The park is gorgeous and clean. The Falls are spectacular. Anywhere you stand by the viewing fence you’ll have a fantastic view.
Found this place by accident and I am so happy we went by and checked them out but is a MUST SEE Location.

Very Crowded At Shoshone Falls, Idaho, on 5/29/23

By Dale K |

I visited on May 29, 2023 (Monday, Memorial Day). Shoshone Falls (near Twin Falls, Idaho) wasn’t flowing at full volume like it did earlier in the spring, but was still very impressive. I walked around for different viewpoints of Shoshone Falls, a powerful 212 foot waterfall. I especially liked seeing the rainbow. It took a long time to slowly drive down a skinny steep road and finally enter the park, because everyone and their brother showed up to visit Shoshone Falls.

Breathtaking view of the falls.

By Cheli L |

Me & my bf saw this on Friday July 10 mid-afternoon. It was beautiful and a little terrifying when i stepped to the edge of the viewing platform (yikes!). I've wanted to see the Falls for a long time. It did not disappoint. Very beautiful.

fantastic, not to be missed while in the area

By Peter S |

very nice to see the "Niagara Falls of the West". Intriguing history too regarding the water dams and hydration plans for the environment.

Niagara Falls West 6/20/23

By John P |

Shoshone Falls is taller than Niagara Falls in New York, and just a short trip up the road (from the Visitor Center at Twin Falls, Idaho. The mist will reach you from quite a distance if the wind is just right. There are different perches that you can view the falls from, and a wonderful lake just a bit upstream...

Very scenic

By Quadyak |

Nice waterfall and very scenic viewpoints to see it from. Nice area with places to relax on the visit.

Rainbow at the Waterfall

By where2nextbabe |

We visited on June 29th and the falls were flowing heavy. So much so, there was a constant rainbow and sometimes a double rainbow if you were in the right spot.

This is super close the the Perrine Bridge and main town of Twin Falls.

There is an entrance fee of $5 but it also gets you into Dierkes Lake which is in the park of Shoshone Falls. Dierkes Lake is a small, well kept lake that has a small beach, dock, cliff jumping, kayak rentals, small concession stand and picnic area.

Beautiful park, well kept, restrooms, small snack shack with a few souvenirs. Not a ton of parking, but we had no issue finding a parking spot. It was busy for a Thursday morning.

There are a few different spots to view the falls from and a short trail that is dirt that you can go down to view the falls from a different perspective.

There are big trees and lots of places to have a picnic or just enjoy the views and sounds of the falls.

Awesome Views

By Kevin B |

Glad I came back as the first time was in April and it was just a trickle. Awesome views of the falls and valley. You have to pay $5 and if you have more time there are plenty of trails to explore.

Considered the Niagara Falls of the West, Shoshone Falls is a must-see in Idaho...

By Vanessa Carolin... H |

It's a beautiful Park to take the family, beloved ones in general. We went there for a couple of hours and we were happy with it. It's a nice park to picnic, relax and enjoy the views. The falls are impressive and you will be surprised to know Idaho has such breathtaking landscapes.

Stunning!

By Hailey M |

So beautiful and easy to get to. Lots of trails to walk or hike in the area around the park. Truly beautiful.

Worth seeing once

By arualpalm |

Go on a weekday. We went on a weekday, it was very busy, and we can imagine it would be very crowded on a weekend. This is an attraction worth visiting once for an hour or so.

Beautiful views of the falls

By Ann |

Beautiful views of the falls and a very pleasant park. Even though the water level is low, the falls are impressive. This park is worth a visit if you're near Twin Falls.

Falls not Flowing

By janice B |

Unfortunately they do not disclose that they shut the Falls off at end of September on their website. They do say they don’t charge the $5.00 parking fee this time of year on their site but the man at the entrance was still collecting the $5.00 and also did not offer up that the falls weren’t flowing till we flat out asked him. Took our $5.00 back and u turned out of there

Shoshone Falls Must See

By Ec F |

Really enjoyed photographing Shoshone Falls. Easy to find and easy to access. Minimal risk in viewing and photographing. I would visit again when in the area

You'll see a rainbow

By Jimmy and Tammy |

We loved the falls, I'm from Texas, so this was jaw dropping. The mist from the falls, the rainbows the loud noise from the water, the surrounding landscape, the entire falls area is a must see. We brought my mom, who was in a wheelchair, we had no problems or issues. Highly recommend.

Barely a trickle of water - definitely doesn't look like photos or Niagra Falls!

By LynnaJean |

We were excited about seeing the "Niagra Falls of the west" only to find it's been turned off! There was barely a trickle of water coming down. We were told there is a drought plus the water is diverted to agriculture at this time of year. It likely won't be a waterfall again until Spring 2022!

Easy stroll

By HillMax |

We were able to see the falls for. Various look out points. All paved paths. Beautiful picnic areas! Take lunch and enjoy the view and the shade and green grass. Nothing strenuous. Did have toilets. Was very busy earlier in day.

Breathe taking Waterfalls

By Kristin C |

We’ve been to Niagara Falls, so when I researched these falls, They were advertised as the Niagara Falls of the west, I was intrigued to learn more. It’s off the beaten path and the road to get to the Falls is mildly terrifying- but once you get to the falls, all I can say is OMG! The facilities and grounds were great. With four kids, you tend to find the restrooms first! But the history on the information booth was a very interesting and the falls simply gorgeous! If you want to see nature in all it’s glory - take the time to stop!

Amazing. Better than Niagra in many ways

By GoGatorsWayne |

Gorgeous Falls. Amazing to watch, hear and feel. The only disappointment is the park was packed. There was a long line to get to the lookout point. But, the views are spectacular, and well worth a visit. It costs $5 to get into the park.

Worth a side trip

By paul i |

When driving on I 84 it’s easy to drive by Twin Falls Idaho. Take some time to visit Shoshone Falls on the Snake River to see one of the larger falls west of Niagara....

Big waterfalls

By eatlocal1ofakind |

This is an amazing stop on an Idaho road trip. When the falls a flowing they are spectacular. Pay the five dollars and drive down to the park. Bring your camera. The falls are higher than Niagara.

Shoshone Falls

By Loca_Lisa |

An easy drive from highway 84, maybe 10 mins. $5 at the gate for parking and they give you a map of the area. The falls are beautiful and powerful right now considering there wasn't much snow fall this last winter. Several view points and clean grounds. Even a little stall to buy souvenirs and drinks. Stop by the lake next to it for a swim and a jump off the diving board. Must see if your in the area.

Spectacular

By Russell P |

Easy access for my wife who is handicapped. Also no entrance fee for handicapped. Falls are very beautiful and even had a rainbow between us and the falls. Plenty of parking and very safe and clean area. Gotta see it!

Awesome!

By Billy C |

There are only so many adjectives out there to describe a waterfall - so I'll just stick with awesome. If Shoshone Falls aren't the reason you are visiting Twin Falls - then put it on you list as a must see attraction.

Beautiful waterfalls

By Lou |

We stopped in Twin Falls in our way to Yellowstone National Park. I definitely recommending finding the time to stop if someone is driving through Idaho. We spent less than an hour taking in the scenery and of course lots of pictures.

spectacular view - stunning landscape. breathtaking!

By Lynda F |

gotta visit Shoshone Falls.... too wondrous to describe - must see! The grounds are vast and the greenery is stunning. the falls themselves are something to behold - could stand and watch for hours... take the walking/hiking trail around the canyon rim. Beautiful!

Worth Seeing

By M&AEagle |

Just a couple things: 1) Yes, it’s worth a visit - even though, in our case, the falls weren’t at peak flow; 2) $5 entrance per car. But, if you have a lifetime Senior National Park Pass, there is no charge. Remember to bring your pass with you.

Unexpectedly nice

By TheLongLongTrailer |

This place is more than a nice waterfall. The grounds are green with grass and well kept; you can visit the lake as well. A bonus is a paved trail that leads to the site of Evel Knievel’d attempted jump over the snake river. Worth the small drive off the highway!

Beautiful Falls with a Rainbow

By sco3030 |

Winding, crooked road with amazing scenery leading to the entrance of the park. Well maintained park with nice viewing stations. Good view from the top of the station but even better for those who can and want to go down a steep flight of stairs and, of course, what goes down must come back up. Pretty wildflowers and good view of the historic power plant across the river. There is a plaque honoring the couple who gave land for the park. They were not even from the area but rather came from Nebraska. They had bought the land that is now the park and eventually donated it to the city of Twin Falls. They did not want the area to become commercialized and developed. Good on them!! I think they would be happy to see that their wishes have been honored in a very nice way.

Mini Niagara Falls

By DanaHJ |

Worth the $5 entrance fee. Nice sounds. Hard to compare to Oregon waterfalls but nice that Southern Idaho has one to see for you.

Absolutely beautiful falls

By ChacomomZ |

Here visiting family and wanted to check these falls out. They are absolutely breathtaking! “Niagara Falls of the West” for sure!! $5 entrance fee per vehicle.

Beautiful falls

By kiannahsmom |

It's $5.00 per car to get in. They also give you a map if you want to hike. As far as finding the falls it isn't very easy to find! The garmin tells you which exit to take ,but it's hard to figure out. There were a few small signs you could easily miss. However it is worth the frustration to finding it. The falls are beautiful. There is a little shop with ice cream & trinkets ,not sure if they sell food I didn't notice. The bathrooms are back behind there.

Magnificent

By HnRcup |

The views of these falls are just magnificent. We went on a cold, windy day in October, but it was worth it. There are also picnic areas that we hope to one day take advantage of in warmer weather.

Incredible power and beauty all at once

By Dan B |

Natures beauty at it's finest. The power of water could literally be felt as it flowed over the falls. This is one stop worth taking a detour to see, a must stop while driving across Idaho.

Stunning

By Paul C |

To see these during peak flow is tremendous! To see them at any other time is mesmerizing. Several viewing platforms offer many places to capture your photo from. There's even a short trail leading to yet more options, but be careful. The trail was extremely muddy and slippery when we were there.

Dam not Falls

By deetravelerworld |

This place is terrible. We were excited to check this out but end up disappointed, it looks like a garbage dam. Idaho is the most boring place to visit. Please save your gas.

Great falls

By RC30319 |

Nice park. Won't take you long to see the falls as the park grounds have many overlooks. It is a good picnic spot, so if you have the time, bring some food and relax. The falls in the summer aren't as big as in the spring but they're still quite nice. Well worth the stop.

Beautiful

By Connie L |

I enjoyed the falls, they are impressive to look at. I did not expect to be stopped at the top of the road to the park and asked for a $5.00 entrance fee. I wasn't impressed by the attitude of the attendant either. When we asked the attendant if we needed to pay to see the falls, her answer was "It's 5.00". None of the websites I looked at mentioned the fee! That said, it was definitely a beautiful falls, and I am glad we stopped by.

Beautiful Place

By recorder |

I knew from the pictures that I would like it here, but there was more water than I expected and the whole set up is nicer than I expected. The south side is a wonderful green park with several viewing areas to get the best pictures of the falls. Just a real good vibe around the area.

Beautiful View

By Mom of 2 |

This is an amazing place to visit. The view is absolutely amazing and to see pictures doesn’t do it justice. This is a place you need to visit.

'Niagara of the West'

By Violette54 |

Shoshone Falls is located about 3 miles east of Twin Falls. From the Perrine Bridge through Twin Falls, the distance is about 7 miles, east on Champlin Rd, to the Shoshone Falls Grade. This is a Fee day-use area; no camping is allowed. The park hours are from dawn to dusk, year round.
The $5 Fee per car is accepted in cash only and is paid to the attendant near the 'Welcome to Shoshone Falls' sign. The National Parks Pass does not work since Shoshone Falls Park is not a National Park. The fee is collected from March 1 to September 30. The high water time is usually June, depending on the river level. Idaho Power controls the water flow, and the hydropower is used for farmland irrigation.
The Shoshone Falls Grade is the road down to the falls running through lava fields. It's narrow, features several tight curves, and could use some maintenance. It is paved, but there are no pullouts. Near the pond there is a tight U-shaped curve that offers a quick peek of the falls from a distance.
The road ends in the parking lot. There are 5 pull-through RV places. It is wheelchair accessible and has designated WC parking. To the side of the lot is a small gift shop building, with basic, but clean and supplied, restrooms in the rear. Hiking trails branch out from the parking lot.
The park is a beautiful green space with shade trees, picnic tables with BBQ grills, grassy places to relax with your children and leashed dog. There is no playground. Swimming is not recommended and you climb on the rocks at your own risk.
It is a short paved walk to the falls overlook. There are stairs down to the overhanging view point, which is a great place for photos.
The falls are 212 feet high and 925 feet wide; 45 feet higher than Niagara Falls, which is how they got the name, the 'Niagara of the West'.
Approximately one mile west of the falls, one can see the remains of the ramp built by Evel Knievel's team for his failed motorcycle jump in 1974.

Beautiful falls, easy to access

By angeleyes27 |

These falls are about 15 minutes from the downtown area. It is $5 a carload. There is a lake on the hill above it. There are two areas to view the falls. The falls are quite impressive and large.

Spectacular spring view

By MayasWay |

What a treat to visit in the spring - the water flow, the rainbows! Consider going upstream to enjoy the park, too. The paths were not all open when we were there because of mud conditions, if that's of interest, check before you go.

Must See!

By Hanna Landis |

$5 Entry fee is well worth it! We got some great pictures. It was pretty crowded but that is expected for a Saturday

Great Views

By John F |

Very beautiful area. Lots of photo opportunities with the twin falls and valley below. Very easy to find and a must see. Downtown Twin Falls not much
going on.

Beautiful

By ml56922m |

Even with low water late summer, early fall, falls and Snake River were quite marvelous. Rushing water was roaring. Will go back in spring when there is more water. Right now lots of rock face is showing. I stopped at souvenir stand. Talked with people while waiting for hotdog to cook. Very impressive and enjoyable. The road was narrow and winding. Short drive. As I was leaving a huge military looking vehicle was entering. Dierks lake is a side road. Picnic tables, restroom, trails. Passenger car cost $5.00. With national park card, free. Very nice!

Love the sound of the falls.

By SCoxygenman |

This was definitely a nice stop to see if your passing thru Twin Falls. Probably best to visit if there was lots of rain vs dry times for sure. We got lucky and caught it some time in between, didn't have a bad flow that day. What I couldn't Believe was they locked the regular bathrooms and closed them. Then set up nasty porta potties, my wife hates those. There was a pretty good crowd around the main Lookout tower but if you go off on one of the nearby trail points you could Enjoy the view of the falls and listen to the water poor over. It was a great way to end the day.

So pretty

By TravelingBum10 |

We were so excited to see these falls. They had the water turned down due to a drought so they were not as full. They still looked beautiful. There’s a couple of lookout points. It was free to get in. At night they charge for the light show. There are bathrooms and a snack place on site.

The Main Event

By John K |

This was my main reason for coming to Twin Falls. I had read that the Shoshone Falls was taller than Niagara Falls, so I thought that I would check it out. I was traveling from northern Utah to Caldwell, ID to see a friend, so I thought that I would stop. The falls are amazing and I am glad that I got a chance to see them.

A trickle

By aswad9 |

We arrived early to town so we thought let's go. With no rain and the dam it was barely there. Maybe in the spring or during rains it is probably better. But the view of the gorge is beautiful. Really deep and with the sunset.....

Even though it'll the information I read said it was not as spectacular in the fall, it was so pretty and because of the time of day, there was a rainbow

Spectacular this time of year!

By 4Bug-a-Boos |

So beautiful! A local told us we were pretty much seeing the falls at their peak and I have to say it was spectacular. The falls sit near a park with picnic areas and a walking trail. I would highly recommend it at least at this time of year. I do understand that the water levels do fluctuate so you might want to check conditions before you go.

No access to falls

By Wendy P |

I chose two stars because I had to pick something. I’m sure this would have been a great activity, but access is closed. Check before you go.

Don't miss it!

By jeanne D |

Shoshone Falls and the surrounding area are beautiful! So much to see and do. Great hiking for every level of ability and stunning falls. Every season reveals a different personality of the park. Be sure to stop at nearby Perrine Bridge to watch the base jumpers. Great way to spend the day.

Pretty but quick stop

By Docsbob |

The falls are very pretty but be aware as with all falls, they are somewhat seasonal. Earlier in the spring/summer, they will be flowing full blast. Later in the summer/fall, they will have dried up some. Still impressive but be aware. They have great picnic and grassy areas. Otherwise, there isn't much to see/do for your $5 entrance fee. You'll likely only spend a few minutes here.

WoW

By POPSK41 |

The sights here are just so beautiful it is difficult to tell anyone what it is like. the place is really clean and there is picnic tables to eat at and enjoty the views. we went to all the areas around to make sure we got all the eye candy we could.

Wow what a fall!

By Pat M |

Amazing! The “Niagara Falls of the west” is what they call it for a reason. It’s an easy trip once you exit the highway unlike many natural sights that require miles of driving off the main roads. The area is clean and tons of families, couples and friends to see the sight. $5 charge per car but more than worth it. There a little park where you can enjoy a picnic. There’s also two lookout areas where you can take that perfect picture or selfie.

Quick, Beautiful Stop

By VanEsq12 |

If you are looking for a quick, beautiful stop, these falls offer just that. They are just five miles from the highway, and it only costs $5 per car to go down and see them closely. If you want a quick view from a lookout, there is one before you enter for free. There are a multitude of picnic areas, walking paths and green areas for walking pets. Restrooms on site, as well as a small gift stop with snacks. Seeing the falls doesn't take long. There are metal stairs that will take you to either a higher or lower falls lookout point. It doesn't take long to see them, take some photos, and get back on the road. After a long stretch of driving, these offer a beautiful break.

Disappointed

By Gwen C |

I had seen so many pictures and watched so many YouTube videos of these amazing falls with tons of water pouring over the edge. Unfortunately no where did I read that these are seasonal falls. So by Mid September the falls were dry except for a few trickles. Truly a disappointment.
The rocks of the falls were still dramatic in their own way, but not the same experience.

Get Off the Highway and Take the Detour to See These Falls

By ReadRibbet |

After reading that Shoshone Falls was considered the Niagra of the West, we decided to finally take the detour off the highway and go see these falls. Conveniently located near Twin Falls, ID allowing for other stops as well (plenty of hotels, restaurants, shopping, etc,), the falls are actually in a city park so there is no admission fee. The drive in is a bit winding but doable for most vehicles. There was plenty of free parking with restrooms and picnic areas also available. There are a number of viewing stations that provide spectacular photos. We were there in March and did not see the water flow seen in the photo. I am not sure if that is because the water is being restricted or if there is just less water, but the rock formations are impressive in and of themselves.

Beautiful, a must-see in Twin Falls

By Alacrout |

You can’t go to Twin Falls without seeing Shoshone Falls, aka “Niagara of the West.”

There is a very cheap entrance fee to get into the park with the best viewpoints. It’s worth every penny.

Shoshone Falls is beautiful from every angle. There’s not much else to say. If you’re lucky, you may even see a rainbow in the mist.

The park itself is pretty nice and clean. Decent bathrooms and plenty of space to picnic if you want to.

Shoshone Falls Is Great

By rmorri729490 |

Very cool falls. Lots of viewing places. Rainbows in the falls water. Just $5 dollars for a car load. Real close to Twin Falls. Just beautiful.

Well worth the effort!!

By WilliamWillieWilson |

There isn't much more to be said about Shoshone Falls that hasn't already been said in other reviews. But I want to reiterate that the "Niagara of the West" is absolutely worth the effort! While not quite as stunning as Niagara Falls itself, this park offers tremendous and varied views of the magnificent Shoshone Falls, especially when walking west along a dirt path where very few tourists venture.

But the views of the valley extending to the west are just as incredible as the falls themselves, a terrain that truly distinguishes itself from the more voluminous Niagara Falls. There is a fee to enter the park, and you'll typically wait in a long line of cars. But your effort will be rewarded and well worth it. There are ample parking spots unless you drive as close to the falls as possible where most spots will be taken. But please make the effort to see this natural phenomenon in your lifetime!

Awe-inspiring falls

By eatshoptravel |

Shoshone Falls was mesmerizing. We arrived early in the morning before admission was being taken. We took a number of photos. There was a rainbow visible in front of the largest section of the falls. We could have stayed to enjoy the view even longer than we did, but we had other things to see and do.

Boring

By Lynn E |

Just barely fair. The amount of water going over the falls made it look very unimpressive, only one small section of the falls was flowing from the pump used to move the water back to the top of the falls. Really not worth the trouble to go by to see it, (poor road markings and confusing street names (often names and numbers for the same street)). I think the young girl who collected my $5 probably pocketed it. Horrible rest rooms. And a joke for a store. Drive on until you get to something real.

Nice falls, not crowded

By RollTideRollAZ |

Beautiful waterfall in a park with multiple areas to view and take pictures. $5 entrance fee and plenty of parking and picnic areas. Access to Dierkes Lake as well.

Barely flowing

By LMicheleS |

The build up left us very disappointed when we reached the parking lot to view the falls. Advertised as "The Niagara of the West" we looked on a barely flowing waterfall. I'm not sure if the dam behind it was restricting the flow too much of if they're in the middle of a bad drought.

Still very pretty but was a little bummed. Photo attached of what it looked like in late June of 2021.

Very disappointed!

By Diana S |

We were in high expectations of seeing a beautiful falls on 10/8/21. Got there and there was only a trickle. Very disappointing! Then we read the water is controlled so it is a crap shoot if you see water over the falls no matter when you stop. Niagara Falls of the west it is not! Niagara Falls isn’t controlled!

Niagara of the West

By stang55 |

We decided to stop at the last minute and we are glad that we did. It was a tight drive with the 35foot RV but we made it! Very beautiful park, there is a snack stand where you can get a drink and some souvenirs.Shoshone Falls is a waterfall on the Snake River in southern Idaho, approximately 3 miles northeast of the city of Twin Falls. Shoshone Falls is 212 feet high—45 feet higher than Niagara Falls—and flows over a rim nearly 1,000 feet wide. Definitely recommend that you stop in.

Worth the trouble to get there

By writealready |

Not the easiest place to get to, considering that it is the West's answer to Niagara. It is well worth it, though. Truly beautiful falls. I went when the river was quite full; that was July. Later in the summer, supposedly, it is not as full or impressive. Get a hot dog from the little snack shack there and sit on the grass.

Definitely worth seeing

By Tony K |

We rode our E-Bikes about 5 miles on Trail from Visitors Center. Awesome viewpoints along the Snake River canyon and of Shoshone Falls. We rode down to the Shoshone Falls viewpoint too.
Spectacular Falls and views

Amazing falls

By Ladybug |

You drive to the park down a winding road from the rim. The water flow was amazing with mist coming up. The outlooks let you have a great view. You can walk the rim trail. Take lots of pictures!

Stunning views

By KrispyDonut |

Appreciated there was a free overlook and the views were just as stunning as if we were to drive below and so the $5/car fee

Worth stop! Hiking, falls, and lake fun

By jd662 |

You pay 5$ for access to shashone falls and dierkes lake. Bring swimsuit, lake has perfect swimming hole for kids, picnic benches, playground , diving board, in the snake river ! The water falls are gorgeous ! Easy paved access to all the waterfall sights. Little snack bar . See where evil kanieval jumped the canyon. Drive up road a minute and your at dierkes lake . Hard pact gravel road to the right will lead you on a nice hike, to staircase that takes you up the canyon wall to the canyon ridge and has amazing views. Long for young kids about 2 mile hike but wide gravel road. Worth the stop ! Do both!

Waterfall views are breathtaking!

By Oscar G |

Went with some friends the first week in October. My friends live in Twin Falls and this was my first time visiting Idaho. Although my friends said that the falls weren’t flowing at their best, I thought they were amazing. If you go to the overlook and turn your camera to just the right angle, you may catch a rainbow in your photo. Very nice experience.

My first waterfall

By Dayna F |

This was my first time experiencing a waterfall. I know the best time to go is sometime during spring, but there was still a good amount of water flowing. Very beautiful scenery.

Absolutely beautiful

By melwashere81 |

Known as the Niagara of the West, this waterfall is absolutely gorgeous! We arrived on a Monday and it was a bit crowded but not too bad. We were able to park and walk right to the viewing area. We had to wait our turn to pose with the falls in the background, but it was worth it. Admission is only $5 per car, and they have a small gift shop on site. There are hiking trails, but nothing was clearly marked, so we just took pics of the falls and left. It's definitely worth a stop!

Beautiful

By ada11s |

Loved the view. Path allows different viewpoints. The water falls and the texture of the rocks is amazing. Well worth visiting.

amazing!

By gypsyiam |

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful. I went for sunrise one morning. So beautiful. Lovely space. Great area to walk the rim trip and see different views of the falls.

Glad we didn't miss this!

By 83aletab |

Be sure this is on your bucket list! Lovely park area to walk, with amazing falls to view from several lookout points along the walkways. Take a hike up the canyon wall and get another view. We felt the cooling mist from the falls and enjoyed the energy from the water falls and the beautiful clean Idaho air. Lots of grassy area for a picnic or just to relax.
The falls are near the city center, a steep drive down the canyon gets you to the park. Admission was only $5. There are several informative historical displays, restroom facilities and a refreshment stand.

Limited water flow in mid-September - But Still Beautiful

By CharlieinTexas |

I was at the Falls a few days ago. Temper your expectations of the flowing water, as the water flow is extremely limited, and certainly nothing like the incredible pictures that show all kinds of rainbows. Apparently, the best time to visit is in the spring.

With that said, it is still absolutely worth a visit, the park area has some nice places to stroll, and the view of the rock formations, not really covered with water, it’s still impressive and beautiful. The view of the river down below and the canyon is also Quite scenic.

Morts Falls Trip

By stevekmorton |

I took the opportunity to visit the Falls in Twin Falls Idaho again. It is a beautiful sight anytime of the year. They have parking close for the older generation. If you are driving a motor home they have upper parking as well. Be prepared for a winding road to the falls. Wheel chair and walkers can still get close enough to enjoy them. The younger generation can walk down to a lower platform. Be prepared for a spray of water. Enjoy your trip and be safe.

It was OK

By Ditzgrl02 |

The falls were not at a peak level and their gift shop was not open yet. While beautiful, we found other falls that impressed us more.

A Must See

By Ronald B |

Definitely a wonderous place to see. We kicked/walked the skyline/canyon view trail towards Twin Falls for 2.5 miles. It seems you can walk that trail to/from the city about 10 miles. Loved Ed the scenic views of the falls. Loved the cool shaded park where we enjoyed a picnic lunch. Loved that our Senior Pass with the NPS allowed us to see it all without the entrance fee.

Nice location, great place for a photo

By greglinmon |

Just a nice spot, very pretty, we stopped in Twin Falls while traveling and since we were staying just minutes away, we drove over. Glad we did, really pretty spot. The State Park itself seems well cared for.

Niagra of the West (In the springtime)

By Jerry S |

Wonderful falls! Have to go in the spring on a high water year for maximum experience. Last time I was there we needed rain gear just to stay dry.

Unexpected wonder

By Vivian r |

If you are traveling through Southern Idaho, I encourage you to take the time to get off the highway and travel through a few neighborhoods to see the unexpected beauty that is the Shoshone Falls. We are so glad we did, and now we plan to see them annually when we travel through Idaho.

Beautiful and Worth the Visit

By PortolaValleyLMS |

We enjoyed seeing the falls. It was worth the token payment and drive down to the base. Honestly, it is a perfect location for a picnic lunch.

These falls are impressive; the grounds are remarkably well taken care of; and, the time investment is not great. If one visits Twin Falls one should definitely make time for this visit.

Spectacular waterfalls

By BigMerk |

We stopped here to see the waterfall. Because it was late September the falls were not as powerful as is Springtime but they were still a great visit. The surrounding area is beautiful too. Entry per car is a few dollars. Well worth a visit.

The End of the Rainbow

By Amy W |

Although we visited in September there was still a lot of water flowing over the rocks. The mist from the falls make for rainbows that seem to end in the Snake River. There are several overlook areas that you can view the falls from. As you are looking around keep your eyes open. We saw several other small falls flowing into the Snake River Canyon.

Beautiful view

By Anne G |

This part of our trip was my husband's idea along with Craters of the moon NP. Beautiful view of the falls and the Snake River Canyon. It is so worth going to both places.

dry falls

By bernhard d |

They should rename this to dry falls instead of twin falls. This was the worst water fall I have seen in decades and then charging $5 for it is very disappointing

No Falls!

By cooker72 |

Unfortunately, there were no falls to see at the location, but we were told that at the gate! Even without the water, it was still very pretty! The park was green and quiet!

Better than any review can explain

By crystal |

So beautiful, we visited at sunset and it was so amazing I can’t begin to describe it. Not many people, and nobody taking the $5 fee. Tho I would pay more to experience that. The park was clean, many places to take a picnic lunch or dinner. Be prepared for portable toilets! Highly recommend this when in the area. I would drive to see this and spend time as well. Totally worth it

Wonderful detour on our roadtrip

By djkim2 |

Wow! Almost missed this beautiful Niagara Falls of the west. Glad to have made this 1 hour detour off of I-84 to see the majestic falls

Very impressive

By CharleenW_13 |

The Shoshone Falls are truly impressive! The area as a whole is beautiful and a surprise after the flat-land around Twin Falls.

Takes a $5 vehicle fee to get close, but worth it.

By Larry R |

Started our day visiting the falls. Have to enter the park to get close, but well worth it. You get a great view of the falls. I think its great that a power generating dam was built upstream from the falls, thereby saving it. There a nice park for picnics there, but we were just there for the sightseeing.

Absolutely stunning!

By dainty81 |

We visited the falls today at around 9:30am . The falls were flowing! The falls were amazing! I had read some of the recent reviews and I wasn’t sure what to expect for this time of year . But we were pleasantly surprised ! Maybe we just stopped by at the right time ? We will definitely be coming back next time we drive through!

A Must See!

By Steph S |

We heard it’s even better in the spring, but we definitely enjoyed seeing the falls today. The environment is gorgeous and it would be a great place to have a picnic.

Impressive!

By Paul C |

Even when it's not flowing at high water, it is an impressive sight to see! Love that there is a trail to connect the park to the rim, but main viewing points are easy enough to access from the parking lot. We were there during some heavy summer rains and the trail was SUPER slick & muddy & messy. Grassy areas were swampy.

Amazing display of cascading water

By RangerRik54 |

If you travel the Twin Falls you must take the short trip from downtown over to Shoshone falls. $5 spent to drive down and park is well worth it. Depending upon the time of year the amount of water cascading down the falls can change. I've been there in early November when the flow is very low but still very beautiful. Visiting now in June the roaring waters are spectacular with mist rising from the bottom pool

Spectacular water fall

By doris n |

Amazing views of the falls. For one week only there will be a light show at dark. Highly recommend it, the cost is $ 15.00 per car. Very magical.

Rainbows at the base of Shoshone Falls

By mistyschulz |

Shoshone Falls is such an incredible waterfall along the Snake River in the deep Snake River Canyon near Twin Falls. Smaller waterfalls also pour off cliffs into the canyon which was also intriguing.

Gorgeous views!

By 745derrickc |

Beautiful views! There is a $5 fee for each car, but well worth the views once you arrive at the viewing area.

Steep Decent to Parking - Beautiful Falls, Even in August

By lauragatz |

We drove our 52' rig (33' Class A plus a towed vehicle) down to the parking at Shoshone Falls Park, but I don't recommend it. It is very steep and the paved road is very narrow in spots. It is doable, but the RV parking spots are few (5 I think) and not super long.
We visit the falls in August, which I understand is not their peak flow time - as they're fed by runoff from the mountains. However, they were still flowing nicely. There are some bathrooms and a place to get a drink and possibly some food but it isn't a large vendor. If you're coming and want to spend some time here, bring some food and drinks with you. There is a nice open grassy area that would be great for a picnic. There are a few nice overlook spots but nowhere to go down to the falls to get really close.
It is a little bit of a drive to the falls if you are just passing through town. They seem to be through town, then through a residential area and little bit of the country, and then you start to head down into the gorge.

Awesome

By Keith B |

The obvious comment here is "planning". You have to pay attention to when the water is flowing and when its not. You can check the website for info and there are live view cameras. Having said that, we've been here a few times over the years and this was one of the times the water was flowing. It was an awesome view. There are also trails you can hike (we did) for better overviews. The falls are co-located with Dierkes Lake which is also nice (I'll do a separate review for the lake). We visited over the Memorial Day weekend and my understanding is the water would be diverted after this weekend so it was fairly crowded. But we didn't feel overwhelmed by other visitors. The signage is a little lacking and navigating the area was a little confusing. The map doesn't really show where the trails begin. The map shows the "Evil Knievel Jump Site" (from the 70's I think) and it appears you can get to it from within the park. You cannot (at least we couldn't figure it out). We were told you could leave the park, turn left and go about a mile to the site but we couldn't find it that way either so we gave up.

Running full force, spectacular.

By Ang4Ang25 |

What a great show. We purchased tickets for the the light show. They may have over sold because there was an enormous crowd however organizers managed the traffic well. I’m sure glad we had a handicap plaqard as my mom is elderly and unable to walk distances. The light show was pretty. We decided to come back in the early morning 8:00 AM to see the falls in daylight. I’m glad we did. Only a few people were there, we had the place to ourselves and the falls were spectacular.

It's worth your time

By Paula_Halcom |

I've been here twice, and both times were great. The view is amazing. People are generally nice, and I love to see family pets included on vacations.

All rock, no water!

By JoJoBoHo5656 |

Sadly, Snake River irrigators have completely dewatered the falls ever since they built a major upstream diversion. All to grow more food for the biggest water-wasting food on the planet: Beef. Sad to see the Snake river in such poor shape.

Favorite For Sure

By THUMPERCW |

Can’t ever go wrong stopping here! One of my most favorite places ever! Gorgeous viewpoints and a clean area to walk around and take the views in from.

Vacation stop over

By Lori@ C |

Aug. water is very low due to high volume of irrigation use ( agriculture, crop area). Less than half the falls have water running over. So, not so impressive. For the 5.00 entry/car still a good value as walking the rim is pretty and Dierkes Lake is a great place for swimming with kids ( nice floating dock, can also hike to hidden lakes up the trail, kayaking allowed. Would be a good place to avoid the heat & picnic.

Mah. A bit of a disappointment.

By EnchantedNM |

If you're local and your just looking for a place to picnic or bike, this place has a park-type atmosphere. However, the falls are simply water being released from the dam (which is right there) and then flows over some natural rocks. Very man-made looking. We simply picked it as a stopping point during our 4 hour drive. So it was just a way to breakup the drive but honestly, not really worthy of being an actual destination for tourists. Looks better in pics than in person. There is a $5 fee per car to get in but if you have a lifetime federal park pass, there is no charge.

Worth the $5/carload

By hopalongrving |

There is a free overlook available before you enter the park itself but it’s worth the $5 to get a closer look.

There is RV/oversized vehicle parking available but be aware that the road to the view points is on the small side.

When we visited it looked like they had a large section of the trail blocked off along the cliff so you are limited on viewing areas but again we felt it was well worth the $5 fee.

There is a gift shop and snack bar near the main parking lot and picnic area.

We didn’t have time to explore the lake but if you plan to swim that’s where you’d head it’s also included in your entrance fee.

A nice, quick attraction when on the road

By ZdenkaScully |

Shoshone Falls are something beautiful to see when you want to satisfy your cravings for spectacular nature, but do not want to drive several hours off the interstate. We did not visit in the tourist season, so the site was not crowded at all. There even was no admission we had to pay. I surely recommend it if you have 40 minutes extra, and want a different stop when on the road to stretch your legs than a gas station.

Dry Waterfalls in September

By Corihi |

Shoshone Falls is 45 feet higher than Niagara Falls and is called the “Niagara of the West”. We had read that spring is the best time to visit when the snow begins to melt. During the summer and fall, water is diverted for irrigation purposes and water flow over the falls is minimal. We knew water flow would be minimal in September, but we didn’t expect it to be a mere trickle. We still had beautiful views of the Snake River and canyon walls. If you want to see spectacular waterfalls, visit Shoshone Falls in late spring or early summer. Tip: visit in the morning. We visited in late afternoon and the sun blinded us as we drove back uphill on the narrow winding road. It was very nerve-wracking.

So much more than just the falls!

By Colleen C |

This was an awesome stop on our trip out west! The falls themselves are beautiful from every angle (minus the big crane), but there is also a paved path you can take to not only see the falls from many angles, but you can walk all the way down to see the jump site from Evel Knievel's unsuccessful attempt to rocket over the Snake River! (That was a must do for my husband.) The whole park was fantastic, and it's a nice place to just slow down, take your time, and take it all in. In addition, they have a small little concession stand where we found a cute ornament to commemorate our visit there. We absolutely loved our time here!

AWESOME!!!!

By catexuk |

Worth the visit!! Just beautiful and the bridge was awesome. I would get there early though in the mornings just in case.

great park to visit in the spring or summer.

By Bruce R |

Beautiful to visit. Just be aware that the falls are mostly shut off in the winter so you will not see multiple falls like in the pics if you visit in the winter time.

Stunning waterfalls

By James T |

These falls are absolutely stunning and a must-see! Was very impressed with the scale of the waterfalls as well as the beauty of the Snake River Canyon. There are some easy walking trails that give multiple vantage points of the waterfalls too. Be warned that it can be crowded here as this is a popular attraction, though there is a fair amount of parking and some facilities like restrooms on site.

Partial falls during visit

By spatts |

I was told the falls at that time of year was not at its fullest, which surprised me because it was just coming out of winter season. Still, the views were interesting.

Amazing day with friends

By Pocock Family Dental |

I visited Shoshone Falls Park with a group of friends, and the views were absolutely stunning—no wonder it’s called the “Niagara of the West.” We spent hours taking photos, walking the trails, and just soaking in the power of the falls. The best part? It’s super close to Pocock Family Dental in Twin Falls, making it an easy stop before or after a visit in town. A perfect spot to enjoy nature and good company!

Pretty Location

By Carrie D. |

We had been told Shoshone Falls was like the Niagara Falls of the west (we're from northeast Ohio and have been to Niagara Falls many times)...however when they told us that, they neglected to mention that it was only like that part of the year.

When we visited in late August, only a small part of the falls was actually falling, so it wasn't as spectacular as we'd imagined, or as it probably actually is in the spring. However it was worth the stop as the views from the platform were beautiful, both of the falls and the river.

One note--several Trip Advisor reviews said that the gate attendant would waive the entry fee into the park if you showed a national park pass. We showed ours and were told in a very rude manner that this is a state park, not a national park, and that our pass was most definitely not accepted--she was quite loud and rude about it. So we went ahead and paid the fee for our 15 minute stop.

Beautiful falls

By dsjhoward |

Shoshone Falls is located a short distance from Twin Falls and if you are here you should see them. Nice viewing deck and nice park.

Very disappointed, bad timing, with little water fall

By mynameisD |

Very sad to find the water was trickling over the falls. So really no Falls at all. Apparently the water is diverted to crops during the summer, which is great for the crops.
There is an entry fee but do wish they would let you know that there is little water coming over the falls. It is a lovely park and ample parking, with a tiny gift shop. RV parking as well.

Beautiful Waterfall!

By Robert S |

Shoshone Falls are multi-faceted and gorgeous. It is worth it to pay the $5 and get a much closer view. For those old enough to remember, the falls are a short walk along the rim to the place where Evel Knievel made his famous jump attempt over the Snake River Canyon. Other worthwhile attractions in the area are Perrine-Coulee Falls and Balanced Rock (balanced on a very thin pedestal).

Beautiful scenery!

By Lloyd H |

Breathtaking views, not only for looking at from a distance, but also up close if you like to kayak. Very inexpensive for sightseeing and a rich history to learn about as well.

So worth it

By Patty O |

We have been traveling through Twin Falls for years, but just discovered this gem of a park. Very cool waterfalls. We will be visiting Shoshone Falls every time we are in this area to see it during different seasons.

Wonderful

By Benjamin V |

Stopped on a Saturday in early May. The falls were flowing at a high level, there were not many crowds, it was a great experience! Make sure to take the trail up to the viewpoints above as those offer the best views.

Road trip

By Dave S |

Great view of the falls , with easy access. Plenty of room to relax on the grass hill and have lunch.

Amazing nature spectacle

By WrldTraveler1789 |

Amazing to see the falls up close. The small winding road leading down to the falls is a small adventure of its own and then the canyon and the falls just open up after the last turn. Truly a stunning experience. It was very windy when we went (March) so definitely bring a jacket in none-summer months.

A pleasant surprise in the fall

By fungramma51 |

Fee area (National Park passes are accepted). Idaho uses water from there to irrigate fields in the summer so the falls are less in summer and fall so I wasn’t expecting much. They said the water in the falls the day we were there was about 30% of normal and it was beautiful. Very special, there are many areas of waterfalls and it was well worth the visit. It must be really great in late spring. There are two main parking areas, one by a large grassy park with picnic tables.

Magnificent

By Phil G |

This site was magnificent and it is no wonder they call it the Niagra if the West. The viewing Ares are perfectly located and with plenty if room for all visitors to enjoy the walkouts. The falls were beautiful as wad the surrounding park area.

It did not disappoint us. Unique waterfalls with great gorge view

By Brown_Samantha |

It is a short drive from Twin Falls downtown area, $5 per car when we visited. Large parking lot, very clean and what a view to Shoshone Falls. We don't like to compare waterfalls, think they are ALL beautiful. This one is very nice. When we visited, it was not full flowing, probably still too early for the big spring melt.

None the less, it was still a very pleasant visit. There is a walking trail that goes along the rim for various views. Evel Knievel jumped the gorge in 1974 near the area with his rocket motorcycle.

Views are breath taking

By Jenny M |

Beautiful scenery and great facilities. Make sure you don't miss the Lake. It is crystal clear. Cost $5 per car and with it

"Niagara of the West" is no longer true!

By Tamara S |

Sadly, "Niagara of the West" is a MAJOR "bait and switch" lure for tourists. They still charge $5 per vehicle, but what you see once there is just the very left side of the entire waterfall area. If you'll notice upon closer examination, a hydro dam has been built across this gorgeous natural wonder, and now only the far left set of falls is flowing freely. It is also dammed in a way that the full falls will never return, and you'll have to shoot pictures strategically, so that you don't get buildings, people's houses, and the dam itself in your "memorable" photos. Also available at this site are two very small bathrooms (one for "men," one for "women") that are filthy, out of soap, and out of toilet paper with a very long line of people despite the fistful of cash that is in the hand of the money-taker at the entrance booth. There is a concession stand with cheap-looking souvenirs (printed with Shoshone Falls) and a few overpriced snacks and beverages. There are three "official" viewing platforms, one of which is obscured and pointless. The other two are your choice of either a parking lot level from the side or taking many steps down to a more frontal perspective. We spent a very short time here with the large crowd, and from the false advertising of outdated photos and the advertising tagline of "Niagara of the West" left feeling lied to, cheated, and disgusted, especially given its history. The donors of this gorgeous property including the Falls only parted with it if it was designated for use as a public park in perpetuity. I'm sure they would be horrified if they knew now how it has been cannibalized, commercialized, and "destroyed" in comparison to its original beauty! I would encourage you to boycott this destination and visit Thousand Springs State Park instead if you want to experience an assortment of natural beautiful falls in this area.

Nice Park to go with the Falls.

Excellent Pit Stop. Water levels are down so the falls on the right are dry right now. Small parking lot but people don't stay long so a spot will open up shortly. Definitely worth a pit stop on your road trip.

easy to get to and uncrowded

we went at the end of summer so the falls were not full but still had a great time...the falls are beautiful and easy to drive to...theres a lake you can also drive to just half mile away with good picnic facilities...I will visit again in the spring

Mini-Iguazu Falls

By Jeff K |

I had underestimated these falls. They very impressive and the water level was very good in late June. It reminded me of the famous Iguazu Falls in Argentina.

Nice falls

very nice falls and the area around the falls. small souvenir stand, restrooms and parking. the whole area is set up well. small admission charge.

Great hike

By Sue H |

We visited the park and hiked along the pathway to the Evil Knievel site.
There are some great views of the falls along the trail.

It's beautiful

By Bunny |

It's breath taking. And to know Evil Knievil jumped the Shoshone river. You can either enjoy a picnic with family and friends there are picnic tables. Or bring a blanket. There is a concession building during the summer. No alcohol allowed. They serve food & drinks.
Heads up at Dierks lake there's alot of goose poop on the grass. There is a swimming area. Don't swim or wade in the water next to the sand there's goose poop in it. Bring your camera and a blanket and sunscreen. Have fun !!!

Seasonal!

By Susan H |

As others have stated, the falls is quite small in the fall. We visited in September and there wasn’t much to see. The magnitude is based on the time of year and amount of water. I can’t wait to go back and see the falls in the spring! I can see how it would be spectacular!

Great waterfall easily accessible

By messier27 |

This is one of the best waterfalls I've seen. I love the various levels. Several viewing points provided different viewpoints. Cute little marmots were everywhere

Awesome.

It was gorgeous and loud and beautiful. Well worth the $5 entry. We were in town for a funeral and wanted to let the kids see something neat. This fit the bill perfectly. There’s lots more to see there from what I understand but it was just so beautiful.

It wasn't what we expected in the way of a waterfall

By wirenut1462 |

Both of us were somewhat disappointed after all the hype regarding this place. Based on the brochures and other information provided, it appears the water falls is controlled so during the summer there is less run off? However, the park near this falls is well kept, plenty of vehicle parking and the walkways and observation places are plentiful. Be aware of the VERY narrow road leading to this place especially meeting oncoming vehicles.

Great View of a Waterfall

Small detour on a move across country to view the falls. Very easy to find. Nice overlook to enjoy the scenery. Tried to walk further along the canyon, but all mud:) Not that type of trip so turned around. Would love to explore more, but highly recommend for either a gaze or a gander.

Majestic, dramatic, and historic!! Wonderful experience!

The Shoshone Falls - aka “The Niagara of the West” - are a must if you’re visiting southern Idaho - the scenery is positively breathtaking and majestic! We visited in early March of 2023 and it was snowing on our first visit. Made it very fairy-take like - just incredible!

Then the clouds broke and the sun came out on our second visit and the scenery changed completely!! I even managed to catch a rainbow at the base of the falls! Another unexpected treat is the Snake River Canyon dramatically weaving its way to the left of the falls! It’s so much bigger than I expected wow!

There are all sorts of birds flying around and marmots everywhere - such a lovely park. There are tons of smaller waterfalls trickling down all the rock-faces and in early March they were frozen! Really cool to see.

Apparently Spring is the best time to see the falls but my understanding is you have to catch them before they divert the snowmelt waters for irrigation. I think we were still a tad early as it was snowy and cold. But it was still 100% worth it!

There’s so much history here - these falls mark the upper limit of fish migration and were an important place for the Native Americans here. Lots of explorers passed through as they made their way to the Oregon Trail. And Evil Knievel even tried to jump the river nearby and you can walk to the old jump wire haha! So many stories!

There are trails along the canyon rim but we weren’t able to walk them bc of the mud. We tried but the mud was unbearably thick and was just caked onto us and weighing us down lol. Maybe next time!

The falls are near the town of Twin Falls which makes a great base - there’s lots of hotels and shops and restaurants there. And the falls are less than 3 hours drive from Salt Lake City.

There’s tons of parking up at the top entrance and also lots more down at the bottom closer to the falls. The road down to the main viewpoint is narrow and windy and slick in the snow so be extra careful. There are bathrooms down by the viewpoint but they’re closed in winter. They did have a port-a-potty up at the top entrance though.

Breathtaking Falls and park!

Dont miss this natural attraction. The view is amazing along with the snake river below. It is higher than Niagra. Depending on the time you visit the falls it can be calm in September to aggressive after winter.
Easy to get there and only a few minutes from the city of Twin Falls, Idaho.

Beautiful sight

No cost with an America the Beautiful Pass. Rv parking is available, we have a 34 foot rv and pull a Jeep, had no problem. Falls are an impressive sight

Beautiful, Quick stop!

By J & A |

This is a quick 15 minute stop, but the waterfalls are beautiful and we even got a rainbow in the viewing. The location offers a small parking lot, tiny gift/snack bar and a picnic area with tables. We visited in June and the water was flowing rapidly and at full strength. Nothing much more to see around this area but if you are in Twin Falls, Idaho it is worth the 15 minute drive from the center of town. The $5 fee was waived because we have the America The Beautiful National Park Pass.

July 4th Weekend Trip

By Sean |

Amazing views, minimal hiking required. It was very busy and parking ($5 per vehicle) was sparse, but in fairness, it was July 4th weekend.

If you want to hike a bit further, you can get other views with much smaller crowds. Either way, it is definitely worth visiting.

Disappointed-Half of water diverted. Not an awsome experience.

By Debbie H |

Disappointed. Photos show both sides of falls-this is usually not the case. Due to high snowfall this year we decided to go (a 1,000 RT for us). Only one side was running due to the damn. The falls were nice but not spectacular. We have been to Niagara falls and there is absolutely no comparison. All Idaho's tourist info also shows the complete falls running. Check the website before going-we would not have made the trip. Not only have we been to Niagara Falls but Iguazu Falls in S. America. If you have not seen any really awesome falls before you might enjoy these.

Beautiful area

By crazyaboutravel |

It can get crowded but nice falls, there is a large grassy area to sit and some tables to picnic on. Parking can be a problem but I liked that a small RV can go in and park.

The Main Event in Twin

By Jason Hennig |

Shoshone Falls is interesting for several reasons:
To begin with, every time you go, you might well see something totally different. Because of the way the dam is placed on the rocks, different locks and flow control will cause the falls to cover a different section of the bed, which can make for some stunning views. If you're in Twin, this is the main thing to see.

Stunningly beautiful!

By ntarayavonk |

We visited Shoshone Falls July 19 and 20th and it was spectacular! We hiked along the canyon’s rim on the 19th and biked it on the 20th, both days seeing the falls at its finest. Sounds like from other reviews that it is a hit or miss. There was even a review on the same day we visited where apparently the falls were not flowing well when they were there. I feel bad that they did not get to see the falls the way we did. I would highly recommend going. It’s worth the effort.
