I was wondering where the Falls in Idaho Falls were. Nice green belt for a visitor. Enjoyed a quick view.

We were traveling through Idaho Falls and never expected to find such a place. Very well maintained walking path along the river, with excellent views of the falls. We had a lovely walk along the river after dinner.

The Snake River Green Belt I'd a great place to walk, run or ride a bike. I like walking around the part called the Fore Bay. That portion goes around the falls, past Kroger's Island and by the Temple. It's a beautiful area. This is also where the fireworks are shot off on the 4th of July.

We stopped to explore near the river and were surprised by the work and care that went into this project. Wildflowers were mingled with lava boulders to create walkways and gathering spots in an attractive manner.

Wow, this beautiful park allows you plenty of room to run, play, rest, bike, walk, and enjoy the Snake River. We were at this location for the Solar Eclipse and had a great location for our vacation.

It's a beautiful walking path great for all ages & abilities!
Highly recommend it! Great for giving the legs a stretch and snapping a few photos!

The greenbelt is really a nice retreat to go to in IF.The river is the focal point along with the small hydro. The hydro is a nice educational attraction. Easy to get to with plenty of parking.

What a terrific setting for a slow stroll enjoying the scenery or employing a quicker pace to work off some extra pounds from eating in the great restaurants nearby. There is even a great place along the walk to stop and watch trains go by.

First of all this is Idaho Falls so if you are expecting a Major City type zoo you will be disappointed. That being said this is a great place to go for a walk and see a diversity of animals. The trees keep you in the shade most of the time and the water features add depth to the experience. There is a petting zoo for the children and the child in all of us. They also have light food and beverages available with an outside Tent covered area to eat in. It takes 1 to 2 hours to see, depending on how long you linger and if you stop for a snack.

After spending the day on the Harley it was nice to find the walking path near the falls. Great scenic walk. Bring your camera! Listen to the water and relax a bit. Travel safe...

I am glad to see updates and beautiful working being done. I am disapointed with alot of thet tree growth cut down.

Very nice asphalt path along the Snake River in downtown Idaho Falls - nice landscaping along the route and one can walk, jog, bike for at least two miles (maybe more) along the path.

Beautiful walk along the river with nice views of the falls. It was so calming and serene. I had easy access from my hotel, Springhill Suites, to the multi- use path. There are benches along the path if you want to relax.

The Snake River is beautiful all by itself. Add a waterfall, interesting sculptures, a wide array of trees, and artistic benches and you have an outdoor art museum. For 3 miles, you can bike, walk, skateboard, or jog. There are rentals nearby if you don't have your own bike. Be sure to stop and have a cream topped snow cone and sit under the shade of enormous trees. Lovely setting.

While staying in Idaho Falls on the 4th, we were able to take the Greenbelt down to Snow Eagle Brewery for dinner. Very nice walk, lots of people had arrived early to watch the firework (Largest display west of the Mississippi). Great location, scenic, didn’t take a run, but, would have been a great place to.

Great place to stretch your legs and walk the dog while travelling through Idaho Falls. There was lots of parking nearby when we visited

We stumbled upon this while looking for our hotel for the evening! It is right across from the hotel we stayed in. This was a beautiful area, the walking while looking at the waterfalls was amazing. The walkways were nice and full of people. Lots of places to walk over and even walk down the rocks a bit to get a closer look at the water.

The Riverwalk was the main reason we visited Idaho Falls.
We were not disappointed.
We rode our bikes for miles.
Beautiful river setting for walking, cycling. People and dogs are everywhere 😊
As a bonus, on Sat morning there was a Farmer's Market along the river. Very enjoyable.

Nicely maintained walk with a lot of fun benches. Kids had a nice time. Great views of the river, Temple, the falls.

Pleasant, flat, scenic 2.25 mile walk with historical and interpretive plaques. The falls are beautiful

This is a great place to walk by the river. If I am ever early to a meal/event, I walk here. It is also very nice after a large meal during the sunset.

As a Veteran, I was appreciative of the various memorials found during this peaceful and scenic walking route.

Loved the view and the walk ride around the green belt. Very positive urban renewal at work here. Nice volunteer built parks and viewing areas. Horse and carriage as well as multipedal carts available for hire also.

As one other reviewer put it, "only thing worth seeing in Idaho Falls." I have concur with this sentiment. The walk was really nice; has access to some restaurants and such. The water didn't seem to attract too many bugs either. Worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood.

This is one of the best places to come and visit in Idaho Falls. The walkway is great and the views of the waterfalls and the temple is one of the best in this world.

This is a very good walk as well as a beautiful view. The falls with all of the water especially this year are worth your time to watch. There are great benches with different themes provided-- also worth looking at. If you are a jogger, dog walker, tourist or just need a quiet minute to observe & rest you will enjoy this area in Idaho Falls Idaho.

Winter, one can enjoy the frozen falls and the brisk fresh air. Spring you will find Flowers blooming geese returning and lots of activity , with bikes, skates, walkers and runners. Summer you will find live music, farmers market, just ask around for the dates. Fall the trees changing, the air is chilled Just a peaceful restful place to come and unwind. Walk hand and hand with your sweet heart or walk your dog. All are welcome. A must if you are traveling through get out and enjoy the fresh air and the Snake river along our Greenbelt.

Some lovely sights along a very clean and well maintained strip of river where the falls dam and a variety of parks are accessible.
The route is popular with walkers, runners and nature lovers, and we thoroughly enjoyed doing a couple of the loops marked on the maps around the river.

The Falls is a relaxing and great area to stroll along the Snake River. The sounds of the rushing waters is almost hypnotic. The best thing is that it's free. There are grassy areas to picnic under shady trees or just gaze at the clouds.

We were only passing through Idaho Falls on our way from Yellowstone to Salt Lake City. A natural phenomenon is enhanced with an extensive system of dams to support an electrical power generating station. The result is an extended park system through the center of town. Very attractive!

Lovely scenery and a dedicated walking path. Great stop for anyone heading up to Yellowstone. If you're there on a Saturday morning they also have a farmers market.

This is an interesting stop in he center of the city. It is right on the artificial falls created for the electric company. There are benches and viewing areas. A good place for a small picnic lunch on a cool day.

We stayed close by so this was the perfect place to spend part of a sunny afternoon. There are benches to sit and relax, public bathrooms, and some signage with information. The Falls are really pretty and the area is kept clean and attractive. There's a tourist office on the route with very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

A meandering pathway that is walkable for most everyone showcasing the beauty of the Snake River and Idaho falls.

This is a great place for people who like to walk or ride along the river. It is family and pet friendly. Lovely view of the falls and the Snake River.

Gardens and Paths, a fresh fun place to walk in the City, to the RiverWalk along the Snake River with benches and gardens.

The greenbelt is approximately a 7 mile loop with cutoff points that you can make a minimum of 1.5 miles all the way to the max. Very enjoyable almost year round. However, watch out for the geese during summer months. They are attractive, friendly, BUT messy.

This is a nice place to walk or run, and enjoy the scenery (not in your car). I like taking walks with our family as well as runs along the Greenbelt. There are typically other people on the Greenbelt, so I feel safe. This is a nice break from the rest of town and get closer to nature!

It was a great place to stay and located near other amenities.
Staff was very friendly and place was clean

The Snake River Greenbelt is one lone and ever-changing park. It is full of new ideas in the park benches. The raw power of a river is on display at the city center end with the generating plant that is so well designed that you have to look for it to realize it is there. Walk the length of a short block and the river is wide and calm enough to be a reflecting pool. The difference is striking and not to be missed. There are green areas for children to play and in other places it has trees that make a person want a camera. Any place you go on the sidewalk will change so often you will find it hard to believe it is all in one place. A place to relax or to exercise this park has it all.

Great walking/biking path along the river and falls. There is a Japanese garden. Lots of benches, flowers and hanging pots as well.

Beautiful scenery as you walk, run, or ride around the greenbelt! This is a fun place for children to see birds.

The best time to hit the Snake River Greenbelt is in the cool of the day: early morning. it can get pretty hot out there in the summertime and you want to be able to move from one art piece (benches, sculptures, gardens) in relative comfort. I like the way humor has been added to the artwork. Look for a chia moose and a chia bear and for a bench modeled as a fishing lure. Lots of nice plantings, too, for us gardening types.

We were on a road trip and stopped for the night in Idaho Falls. The Snake River Greenbelt was a nice surprise. After many hours of driving it was nice to be able to park the car and walk around the area and view the falls. Very well kept and safe.

Took my dad to walk around a bit at the river for a scenic walk. After a surgery, he needed a change of pace for some exercise. It's so pretty & nice paths. The falls are beautiful!!

It seemed like the walk by the river was going to be long and tiring. But it was beautiful and there was a lot of scenery changes as we walked

Quite a bit has been done lately in the form of viewing spots and landscape. The greenbelt has always been a hot spot of idaho falls and it keeps getting better.

We stopped here in the morning on the way to Grand Teton in the May month. The weather was pretty good. This is a nice walk along the photogenic fall. This place has stylish benches and natural beauty. A very serene place in the middle of the city.
This is a quick stop if you are passing through the Idaho falls.

We spend several days recently in Idaho Falls and we walked two to four miles along the greenbelt every night. It seems that everybody in town is there. There are walkers, runnners, skateboarders, roller blades, and bicyclists all enjoying the trail and it has a very mellow vibe.
Take your camera there are lots to take pictures of. Everything from the beautiful Mormon Temple right on the river to the wildlife on the Snake River, bridges, Japanese Pavillion, flowers, interesting sculptures and other art work.
This is a great place to wind down the day.

An excellent and beautiful place to walk, particularly with your dog! The area near the Falls is particularly charming.

Just a block over from downtown, restaurants, and shopping, this Greenbelt has a great view right on the Snake River with a wonderful paved path for walking, benches to sit down and enjoy the view. I've walked from a restaurant over to the Greenbelt in just a few minutes.

Walked parts of this a couple of times during our visit. The water and surrounding gardens are pretty and well kept. Can go the whole 5+ miles or do it in sections. Kept the kids entertained too.

Such an easy walk away from the hotel and such a pleasure to walk along the riverside. Tons of geese just hanging along the Falls. Well worth the time to walk along the falls and see the beautiful views

On our big summer road trip, this is one of the most relaxing and beautiful places we've seen. Local residents have a treasure here where one can stroll along and hear/see the water.

Pleasant 1.5 mile walk. 3 miles if you walk from one end to the other and back. Cormorant birds and an eagle nest can be seen from walkway. Recently refinished benches to sit on.

Had a nice walk along the water. Took some great pictures of the falls. Nice park with pretty flowers. Lots of ducks to watch.

We decided to spend our last afternoon in Idaho Falls walking along this trail. It was the perfect weather and many families were out enjoying the sunshine. The trail is large and the surroundings well-kept with unique benches and statues around. Plus, the LDS temple has a gorgeous view from this path. If I had had more time, I would have rented a bike and rode more of the path. I'm very impressed!

I thought the Idaho Japanese pavilion was a masterful design of natural rock - lava and aged trees and flowing water. There are two wooden decks overlooking the river. The cool breeze of water from a small waterfall cools the area under the pavilion. There are no fish but the area has a path to explore and wood and stone benches to sit and meditate

It's nice for walking around and getting exercise. There's swimming at the far end by the hotels and in the summer there are always expos and events. It's beautiful at night and you can view the temple but definitely don't go alone at night, it's kind of scary. There's great restaurants nearby and okay parking.

The path around the greenbelt is great for biking, walking, or jogging. The path takes you near the beautiful Idaho Falls LDS temple. There are plenty of benches to sit and rest on along the path if you want to sit down or are looking for a quiet place to talk. My family loves to take a picnic and eat on the banks of the river.

If you are visiting Idaho Falls, or passing through to the National Parks, do yourself a favor and park in one of the many areas along the stunning Snake River and walk along the extensive greenbelt. Some areas are carefully cared for in natural landscaping, some have interesting rock placements, others have perennial gardens. Don't miss the Japanese Friendship Garden in a special, tucked-in spot along the falls themselves on the south side of the Broadway Bridge. Toward the southern end of the Greenbelt is a very interesting new development called Snake River Landing with multiple restaurants, interesting shops and a lovely overlook at the river. This is an exceedingly beautiful and impressive place.

Pictures don’t do this River Walk and green belt justice. the falls themselves are quite impressive and the attached Japanese friendship garden is equally beautiful. Parking is plentiful even in busy times though you may have to dance a bit — even better it’s free!

We made Idaho Falls our hub for trips to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We didn't realize our hub city had so much to offer of its own! The falls of course are amazing, but the creative greenbelt is also noteworthy. Both the "Art to sit on" project of unique benches...including snakes and wolves and bears, oh my....and the lifelike animal topiaries make the stroll along the river walk a continuous path of discovery! Go all the way along both sides including the Japanese garden.

Great views of the falls paved walkway interesting benches, pay attention to the signs do not feed the geese

The city has made so many improvements to the green belt these last few years. Beautiful walkway for evening strolls or morning runs. My girlfriends and I love to walk the green belt and stop in at Applebee's for a dessert. Yum and guilt free!

We really enjoyed parking and walking along the Falls. It is beautiful and the water and the falls and the sculptures in the park are very relaxing. Would definitely recommend.

A beautiful place to stroll along or stop for a picnic. We watched the solar eclipse from here and could not have picked a better spot. Fun gathering area, beautiful views.

Beautiful setting with picturesque views of the surrounding area. A great place for children to entertain themselves

Nice viewing platforms, shady nooks, beautiful and interesting views of the Falls and the LDS Temple nearby. Absolutely worth a stop and a stroll even if you are just passing through town.

We really enjoyed walking along this trail. The kids kept posing for pictures with the animal vegetation, flowers and cool benches. Of course after we did we found out there is a mystery geo cache we will have to do next time.

Wow this is really awesome to see. Loved it. Took lots of pictures. It was a surprise while I was driving down the road

On each of the beautiful summer nights, I'm feeling safe as I walked the river, a nice cool breeze makes me wish I could do this everyday for a living. The people are friendly - the snake river in Idaho Falls is one of the most visitor friendly places in the US.

The park is very attractive. The animal topiary is very well done. The falls themselves are no Niagara but they are pretty and it is a nice area to spend some time.

If you're looking for a nice walk, bike ride, and you wish to see diverse wildlife and scenery then the greenbelt has to be on your list of places to go. The local folks use it all the time so its a great place to see others and still feel like you're out for fun.

My dad and I really enjoyed walking along the river, seeing the falls, I’m going to the Japanese garden. The landscaping was beautiful.

It is very pretty, calm and relaxing and there are lots of things to see on the greenbelt of local interest. Would recommend that everyone experience our Greenbelt.

Idaho Falls has done a great job developing and improving it's Greenbelt area. The scenery surrounding the Snake River is very nice and it is a great Escape from the busy down town area..

Great path along the snake river. Good views and path. Loop continues from Snake River Landing area (south end) to Freeman park (north end).

My wife and I love walking along the greenbelt. The falls are beautiful, the paths are well-kept and it seems every other year they have a major improvement in the works. Highly recommend for picnics, walks, bike rides, or picture taking. Also there are excellent eating options nearby.

What a beautiful walking area. It is peaceful and calm and far away from the stress and the daily news.

Very popular location for walks in the morning or early evening. Lots of runners and bikers on weekends. Partially shaded and has benches along the way.

Very pretty falls with a nice paved walkway on both sides of the river plus restrooms available. Definately worth a visit.

This is stunning beauty. What a great place to hike, stroll, bike, job, meditate, fly a kite, take photos, breath, live life.

We had a beautiful view from our hotel of the Snake River Greenbelt. On our last day, we finally had a chance to take the walk around the trail. My whole family enjoyed the waterfalls. My younger son loved to watch to ducks and their ducklings. The Japanese Garden at the end of the belt was very peaceful. Grounds are well kept, only problem was at night, many of lights were broken.

Beautiful views of the falls and snake river, LDS Temple and Idaho Falls. It is safe and a great place for a jog or a family stroll. There are ducks and canadian geese along the trail.

They have really updated the walking path so it is now wider than it used to be. Very nice for walking, jogging, or riding bikes. It's an easy walk takes about 45-60 min. to walk all the way around. Can take longer if you walk toward snake river landing or towards freeman park.

Used by joggers, walkers, cyclists, these riverside pathways line both sides of the Snake River forming a quiet retreat from motor traffic in Idaho Falls.

This is a wonderful use of the downtown river area. It is family friendly and is a great place to stretch your legs after being on the road. The area is clean and well maintained and is a great testimonial for the city leaders.

Check out the sculptures, no bums, and cool artwork. Definitely a good time plus restrooms on both sides which are clean, so overall great!!

What a great thing! We walked the west side of the Snake River (the side with the view of the falls) from the restrooms in the north to the Japanese Friendship Garden just downriver (south) of Broadway, then we crossed Broadway on the east side of the Snake River & walked quite a ways upriver again. What an amazing green space in an otherwise busy downtown area. Lots of hotels, bars, & restaurants nearby, but we were delighted to find mostly locals using the paths & grassy areas. As tourists do, we stopped for each of the informational plaques & actually learned something about power production & the upriver dam collapse that created the need for water control in Idaho Falls. Very cool! There were plenty of places to find shade, especially in the Japanese Friendship Garden & on the east side of the river. We enjoyed all of our visit to Idaho Falls, but we REALLY loved the downtown area primarily because of this lovely & interesting green space!

I live here and love to bring the grandkids here or come with my hubby or friend's. Do many wonderful improvements have been made to the greenbelt. You can now walk several miles around several parks along the river. Bike riding, roller blading, running, walking etc.. the greenbelt is great for exercise, fishing along the banks of the Snake River, or watching the ducks.
Activities change seasonally with art shows, the duck race and from May to October is the Farmer's Market. Make this a destination stop.

We took our tween & teen out for a long walk... he had his skateboard, she had her phone. Sigh. We all ended up enjoying the natural beauty - gorgeous flowers, pine trees, geese flying overhead in pairs, the river reflecting the sunlight. It was such a lovely way to spend the day.

If you want to wind down after a long trip... take a stroll along the river lots of places to sit and sights to see ..ducks geese giant fishing lure and much more

The Greenbelt is a popular place with locals to spend an afternoon enjoying the outdoors, while seeing the magnificent waterway. It's easy to access and disability friendly. A great break from usual tourist sites!

The road wanders on the west side of the river from the spillway and falls upstream about a mile. it has a walking path and very well kept grass the length of it. There is a boat launch on the upstream area and the entire area is a shady green oasis on the hot summer days. We had an hour to kill and parked in the shade and enjoyed the cool breeze and watched the tourists enjoying themselves and taking pictures of everything around them. This is downtown starting at main street but you forget that you are in the center of a city in this oasis.

The Snake River Greenbelt is a marvelous thing! The city of Idaho Falls has done a great thing by improving the areas around the Snake River, and encouraging people to get out and exercise by walking, running, or bicycling on the Greenbelt.
First, it's outdoors. That's a benefit -- being outdoors.
Second, it's by the Snake River. Almost everything benefits by being near water.
Third, there are many fun benches or seats you can use to relax. Ever sat IN a goose? or ON a snake? Well, you can, along the Greenbelt here.
So, get out, take a walk in the sunshine, and sit and relax and enjoy the river.

We love to go to the greenbelt to relax, to walk, and to excercise. It is so peaceful there. Occasionally there will be ducks and geese right up close and personal and they are fun to watch

Great walk and pretty views and close access to our hotel athe the Best Western Driftwood Inn. We've come twice and enjoyed it both times.

Wow everything was there including a beautiful view of the IDAHO FALLS LDS Temple. Enjoy it while you can.

This is a nice walk and ends at the dam with a small park and Japanese garden. It was fall and we enjoyed the turning trees. Earlier in the spring there are lots of geese and some ducks nesting and chicks are everywhere along the walk. The view of the dam as you go north is wonderful and we even checked on the little cabin on and island out in the river. Overall a very nice walk and a must with your stay in IF.

Idaho Falls does not have many "attractions" in general. The Snake River Greenbelt is the #1 rated attraction on Tripadvisor. We stopped by briefly when visiting the Mormon Temple, and was somewhat disappointed. There was some road work going on which made the view less appealing. It could be a nice place for a walk or run but not for regular sightseeing tourists.

There are several sights to pause at in this location. As mentioned in other reviews, whether you are exercising, taking pictures, seeing the waterfowl, or the beautiful gardens, there is much to enjoy.

We walked around the River and found some amazingly creative benches to sit on and photograph. The path was beautiful walk and even had restrooms available.

My girlfriend and I ran on this river trail this morning, and it was excellent. You have to cross traffic one time at a stop light but other than the trail is pleasant and has a distance acceptable for anyone on a time crunch or not.

We came here to see the eclipse! Great view. We'll be back for the next one for sure! Really peaceful here by the river.

Loved running and bikeing the greenbelt. We also walked the greenbelt to dinner every evening. Lots of restaurants and shops on or near the greenbelt.

This green belt is the most beautifully designed place I have ever walked!! Whether taking family, children or dogs it is a spectacular place! The view and the horticulture are spectacular! A wonderful place to take a beautiful walk!

Great spot to enjoy a walk and take in the Falls. Also checking out the multiple man made displays along the paths. Great spot for those that are Photography Buffs. Enjoyed viewing the Geese atop the falls. Do Stop By and Enjoy !

This is the most peaceful, beautiful walk in Idaho Falls. I especially like it when they have the walking bridge lowered so you can include Freeman Park into the greenbelt.

People are directed here to see the man made water falls and they are pretty. HOWEVER, we enjoyed the upcycled benches and other structures just as much. Very attractive park.

The greenbelt has steadily improved over the years. People enjoy walking along the river while taking in natures beauty. Many food establishments within walking distance. Highly recommend a stop by the famous Snake River.

...took a few shot of the green belt area, River, and falls just before leaving the area on a very windy morning...the area was beauty and seemed to be well maintained except for many noticeable doggy poops...the city should invest in some signage and doggy potty stations!...

Make sure you take in a walk along the Snake River Greenbelt to enjoy the serenity of Idaho Falls, You can take a nice walk or bring a picnic lunch and right across the street are several excellent restaurants.

You really couldn't come to Idaho Falls without walking the green belt. The kids enjoyed looking at the artistic benchs and loved exploring the Japanese Garden.

We greatly enjoyed walking along the greenbelt during our visit to Idaho Falls last month. There are lots of places you can sit and enjoy the view. We actually did not walk too far, mainly because we were fascinated watching all of the birds darting around the falls. When it warmed up, we stopped and got shaved ice (snow cones) along the way.

Peaceful to sit and watch the falls, or walk along. Great to waste some time walking along. Lovely setting

Walking along the Snake River you see the great result of an energy project for the good of the people in Idaho Falls and a beautiful park that benefits everyone as well. The falls create hydro electric power at a plant further down the river. Along the walk you see beautiful flowers, whimsical topiary, informational placards, and of course the Snake River and the falls. This area is a real plus for Idaho Falls.

The City of Idaho Falls has created a lovely greenbelt area along this stretch of the Snake River. The falls are spectacular and some of the water has been diverted to create a beautiful water garden area. The hike and bike path is a paved surface (perhaps synthetic rubber) with little change in grade. There is loads of parking up and down the greenbelt and benches everywhere. Bring a blanket and a picnic and just enjoy this beautiful spot. For those engineering-oriented sorts, this is a very interesting spot because the river has been dammed and diverted very cleverly to support this greenbelt area and generate electricity for Idaho Falls. The spot also served as a ferry location at one point in time. There are also public bathrooms and restaurants along the greenbelt area.

This is a great place for a Sunday walk. The river is beautiful. The temple looks great. It is a good place for families.

I see why everyone loves this. Imaginative and clean walkway along the Snake River. Wonderful park benches and picnic areas. What a great development. We walked about 3 mile on a nice loop. Wish my hometown would do this along our river.

It's appreciating to know this man made water fall has supplying the majority power of this city. Those it was costly to build but I think it worth the gain. Definitely a worth a trip here to see with the family. I did some stretching on the bridge felt amazing.

If you're a walker, then any kind of walking trail is good. This one was above average. Lots to see.

I took a walk the other day and wandered along the green belt in Idaho Falls I'd.
The water is running over the falls and a lot of new views are there as there is more water this year than in years past.
As I took in the fresh air I ran into family and friends all having the same idea!
Beautiful view, nice walk or jog on the refinished trails, and friendly people to meet on the way!
Overall I saw several friends and my dog enjoyed meeting many people! (Always bring your camera as water flows change all the time!)
My friends and I also visited the international gardens section of the river walk and we just enjoyed all the scenery along the way!
And after the walk you are close to several restaurants! Whatever you would enjoy that day!
Worth the time! Bring a water bottle and camera, look and enjoy, also smile along the way and say hello to those who are enjoying this with you!

The Snake River Greenbelt is a beautiful walk or just a place to come and gather some peace and meditation. You take wonderful family group or couples photos there. Young children can enjoy it and individuals can just have a little solace or exercise. It has a little bit for everyone.

A nice place to do some sightseeing. Beautiful in the summertime but equally gorgeous in the winter. The walkways are kept free from snow and ice making it a safe walk. The falls are breathtaking!

Scenic asphalt walkway along the Snake River in downtown Idaho Falls. There are plenty of places to stop and take in the views.
This park is not something you would quite expect in Idaho Falls, since all around is quite high desert like.
The best part is it is free, and it was directly behind my hotel, as well as I had a view from my hotel room. There are many benches to sit and just thinking, watching the mini-falls/streams, watching the animals, enjoying a book or people watching. Several walkers, runners, bicyclists. . I'd highly recommend just going for the walk with your family and having a picnic.
The historical bridge is great for looking down at the Snake River flowing down.
A few additional highlights:
- There is a Japanese garden right near the falls
- On the south side of Broadway there is a pedestrian bridge over the river, and if you keep exploring you will find a little spot with a small bypass of the river, just right for wading in.
- As for the falls, the dam is L-shaped and the long side runs parallel to the river for quite a ways.
My son did a 5-mile run circling the entire greenbelt
My experience was a bit more relaxing!.

Idaho Falls has done a marvelous job of developing the Greenbelt along the Snake River and they are currently widening the path on the East side north of Broadway. I read in the paper today that they have added a maintenance station to the Greenbelt in case you get a flat or slip a chain. You will also enjoy the beautifully landscaped areas and topiaries.

Besides the falls, the City has made the Snake River an outdoor attraction with the addition of artwork, hanging and flowering gardens, picnic tables, benches, overlooks, pathways and even a wedding venue. Didn't realize how far we had walked because it was so pleasing ever step of the way. Nice place to get to know the heart of this community.

We had so much fun walking around the river, we found some painted rocks and were introduced to a new trend of "rocking". Many in the community paint rocks then hide them for others to find. My kids were so excited about it, that we joined the Facebook group then painted and hid some of our own. We have spent more time outside walking because of this fun activity.

It was a great day for a walk along the river, even with the rain. Very interesting very scenic. It was fun and relaxing.

Skip an I-15 gas station or rest stop and take 3 extra minutes to hit up this easily accessible park. Parking was easy (with travel trailer) and this was a great place to stretch our legs, walk the dogs and enjoy a picnic lunch before heading down the road. Also easy fuel/convenience store options as you head back to The Road.

The Snake river Greenbelt area is so awesome. You need to see the river as it comes to the dam so quiet and calm , then it crashes over the dam, spills into the lower section and traverses thru all the rocks and boulders. Its so amazing and a must.

we walked for one hour along the river from the japanese gardens to the next bridge and back. it was a nice walk, relaxing, hot of course, there was more to "see" along the path on teh town side than across the river.

Great place to take a wake or sit and watch the river and the people. The green belt is extensive and covers both sides of the beautiful snake river

I live close to Idaho Falls and visit the green belt often. It's a great place to walk, take photos, and enjoy all the various activities hosted around the green belt each summer.

My wife and I like to take advantage of paved bike trails while on trips, so we were looking forward to a quiet ride along the Snake. Uh, no. We had stayed in Idaho Falls almost twenty years ago and had strolled along the upper, western side of the river for just a few minutes. I remembered it being peaceful and quiet, but that was not the case this time. The city is putting sod alongside the trail on the east side, so we spent that leg of the trip dodging pallets and stray chunks of sod in the middle of the trail. After we crossed the river and headed back up, I was surprised at how many people were out walking in rainy, 45 degree weather. It was beautiful, but for a peaceful and relaxing experience I would suggest ditching the bikes and joining the walkers.

This Greenbelt area has a nice walkway adjacent to the Falls we found lots of folks on skateboards when we took our walk in the evening

I love what they have done with the trails around the river. Lots of benches ( made by artists ), sculptures and the Views are amazing.
Simply Wonderful

nice view of the river and falls, very pleasant to walk around or just sit and enjoy. park like atmosphere and geese and ducks

How fortunate the citizens of Idaho Falls are to have had leaders that established this green belt walking path. It is beautifully done with a very wide paved path with beautiful landscaping and many views of the falls. There are lots of benches and 30 of them are individual works if are, it was actually fun to look for them. There are also electric scooters for rent all along the way.
Lots of the hotels are on this green belt, so if you are in town, do yourself a favor and go for a walk, you will be glad you did.

Visited with family on July 4th. Beautiful views and scenic pathways. A must see for any IF trip.
Meander the pathways and also head across the street to the Japanese gardens. Just breathtaking.

On the trip to see the minor-league baseball team play we stopped at the Falls. Very relaxing 2 mile loop. Shouldn't go to Idaho falls and not see it. And the minor league game was fun also.

This lovely greenbelt is a perfect place to walk, view the falls, and see wildlife. Neat benches in various shapes and perfect for picture taking.

Greenbelt right next to the Snake River with paved walking/jogging path. I enjoy watching the birds (geese, ducks.)

I was able to access this trail right behind the hotel row, so it was very convenient. The river was slightly overflowing its banks, the water was so abundant.

We stopped in the park and strolled the walkway along the Snake River. Terrain is level and in good condition. There was ample on street parking. Many of the area hotels offer access to the river. The park area is nicely landscaped with lava rock showing in places. There are plenty of benches and picnic tables. The river is LOUD and fast. A stop here is good for the soul.
We stayed at Snake River RV park. Make reservations! We didn't have reservations and got the last site. They do have cabins for rent and a pancake breakfast is available each morning for $3. It was convenient to everything we needed. Staff was fabulous.

The walking path is paved and appears to be handicap accessible. The man made Falls had been constructed from cast in place concrete and very well designed and constructed. The top of the wall slopes to allow a nearly uniform flow of water over the top. Considering that the wall is 100’s of feet long and runs parallel with the flow of water and slope of the river. EXCELLENT CONSTRUCTION

This is always a fun place to bring the family! There is a lot of space to walk and plenty of scenery to take in! Recommended for families, couples, and groups!

Great stop to jump in and cool off in the snake river! Hit the farmers market on Saturday and walked the riverfront walkway. Lots of people strolling along. Cool bench art along the east side of river.

We biked along the belt and experienced a free concert in the park. The walkways are well used by the city residents and are clean and well maintained.

The Snake River Greenbelt is a beautiful, peaceful place to walk by yourself or with a group. The new landscaping along the riverfront is interesting and beautifully landscaped with many flowers. The Japanese Gardens on the east side of the river are very peaceful and beautiful. I've walked the paths a number of times and I'm never disappointed.

Nice Green Space with trails. Right now cold and snowy but it the summer great place to take a walk or ride you bike or just picnic.

the green belt is a very fun place to go and enjoy yourself with the family. Lots of people go there to enjoy themselves with there animals. Such as walking the dogs. Lot of people like to fish. Its known for walking and running. Feeding the ducks

This was a great rest stop when travelling. You can walk and enjoy the falls and the sculptures. A very relaxing setting hearing the water over the rocks.

If you are in the neighborhood it is worth a quick stop and walk around and take pictures. Beautiful view of Idaho Falls. It isn't very big. The temple is the backdrop to the Falls! My husband and had a nice walk along the long walkway!

If you want to go on a serene morning walk this is the place. It is well-manicured with lots of water features and ducks.

Be sure to allow some time to walk the greenbelt that runs along the river. It is perfect for an evening stroll. There is a wonderful park across Broadway, be sure to see that too. The walkway continues down river for quite a way, with many places to stop and look at the river.

The Idaho Falls were very nice. The city has done a good job of making them a focal point of the area.

Just walk and you will see geese. lots an lots of them things. oh, but with these geese comes a lot of poo. so be careful

The Snake River Greenbelt has been greatly improved through the years of its existence to allow more space for people to walk, bike, roller blade, stroll. The landscaping is amazingly beautiful.

Nice area downtown with free parking. Paved paths to walk and plenty of benches and overlooks to see the falls.

Took a stroll on this beautiful walk way after dinner. Just beautiful View of the falls. Love the park and the topiary animals. Very nicely done and a great asset especially to the nearby hotels.

Stopped here and walked along the river. The water falls is not very steep but stretches for a long distance. It is very peaceful to walk along or sit on the benches or rocks and listen to the water while watching it fall over the rocks. I walked up and down the main area and spent about 45 minutes here.

The city of Idaho Falls and other entities have done a great of building a super area to ride bikes and walk. Lots of community activities on the green belt as well. You can travel on approx 12 miles or more on a paved access.
The city uses funds raised from the annual duck race to continue building up the area.
Motels and resturants line the western side of the falls near Broadway bridge.
There is a big fireworks celebration each year for the 4th of July.

A lovely way to learn the history of the town and the use of hydroelectricity. Busy area with locals and tourists enjoy the recreational area of the snake river.

We enjoyed our walk along this path. Listening to the roar of the falls is hypnotic! The greenbelt is clean and well-maintained.

The features about this I liked were the falls they were beautiful with the rock features around it. We didn't walk the whole river just the section across the street from the museum of Idaho. When we went the we're doing construction on the river front which made it difficult to navigate but it was worth it

We love the river-walk. It is clean, beautifully kept up, and although used quite a lot, does not feel crowded no matter when we walk it.

The greenbelt is such a beautiful place to walk in and around idaho falls, idaho . So much to do around there the scenery is magnificent!

This is a very well done and well kept public area along the river. Nice for an afternoon or evening stroll. The Japanese gardens were excellent. And the view of the falls was amazing (we were there in high water). Good job.

Good area to walk on a nice day. Beautiful view of the river. As you walk toward the falls, it gets better and better

My husband and I enjoyed the walk by the Greenbelt. The views were beautiful and the water was gorgeous. It was a great place to walk and enjoy nature.

Idaho Falls actually has the Falls that it is named for right in town. That was lovely as you can walk the pathway and see the wonderful Falls easily.

Took my granddaughter to the snake river greenbelt area where we played in the sand and skipped rocks on the water-simply beautiful

Very breezy day and we spent time in Japanese garden area and walked about a mile along the falls. Stayed in hotel along greenbelt and walked to dinner

I enjoy doing this walk later in the day. The kids enjoy seeing the character benches and other fun things the city has installed throughout the walk. The water and landscaping is beautiful.

We took morning walks a few times during our recent stay in IF. Besides a nicely landscaped paved trail, there is also a Japanese garden to enjoy. Well done!

We were there in winter and it was very beautiful with the snow and the view of the Temple. Even though the city was buried in snow, the walk had been plowed and we had lovely walks in the daytime and at night.

My son and I had just eaten at a restaurant called Pachanga's (5 stars; Mexican food) and had to walk off all of the calories that we ate. The greenbelt was a pleasant stroll. We saw several birds, beautiful gardens and giant "chia pets" (bear, moose). The area was not crowded and the falls were beautiful.

We had an amazing tour at the Idaho falls power plant!
The tours are free and take about 45 minutes. You will also visit the basement where the generator is located.
Tours are given by appointment and on Tuesdays & Thursdays 11am to 2 PM.
We are impressed about this "green" energy in Idaho.
Thanks a lot Joelyn for the tour you gave us!!

Walk around the falls of "Idaho Falls". The trail is paved and wide and used by walkers, joggers and bicyclists. Several restaurants, hotels and the Idaho Falls temple line the river on the north side of the trail. The airport is about 2 miles to the north. The north loop around the green belt is about 2 miles, but it exends another few miles south and connects to several other restaurants and hotels on the south end. Beautiful year around, but bring a jacket for early mornings in the summer/fall and bring a winter coat for winter/spring walks.
This is Idaho Falls Old Town. The mall, movie theaters and other shopping are in Ammon, Idaho about 5 miles or so East of the river down 17th street.

A fine and fun place to unkink from a drive. That's exactly what we did right after we checked in. Fun art that you sit on, like a horse, lure, snake. (The "Snake on the Snake") Especially nice is the dam that provides part of Idaho Falls' electric power needs.

Flew into Idaho Falls in April & had to see this park. The Snake River flows over a ledge & creates beautiful falls with white waters rushing by. A Mormon Temple sits across the river & a mile trail takes you to several artistic sculptures & gardens. My son proposed to his wife here! Very scenic & as seniors... we saw it without any hiking!

this great walking, biking, running path runs along the Snake River, It is broken up is several spots for long or shorter journeys. only one spot requiring bypass (rail road tracks). beautifully landscaped.

We rode this path twice while in Idaho Falls. It is nicely paved and very scenic as it runs along the Snake River and past the falls of Idaho Falls. It is easy to access, but unfortunately, during our visit, much of the east side along the river was torn up for maintenance, necessary, glad to see them do it, just bad timing for us. We enjoyed it and would certainly do it again.

The Greenbelt trail is definitely a highlight for Idaho Falls. Getting out and seeing all the wonderful artwork, sites, bridges and hearing the water and waterfalls is just amazing. This is a gem for the city. Highly recommend using this trail and seeing the sights and sounds.

Idaho Falls has poured a lot of money into improving the greenbelt and the streets around it. New hotels line the river bank and surrounding areas. The new Snake River Plaza and Taylor's Crossing uplift the face for former bleakness with new offices, restaurants and hotels. Good Job Idaho Falls!

What a great area to walk and enjoy the Falls, the river and nature. Very safe, even in the early evening just after sunset. Views are wonderful and walking trail is well maintained with adequate restroom facilities.

We made quick stop to see the waterfalls before heading off for our day. It was gorgeous and well kept. The artistic benches were really cool!

The City Council and Rotary Club are to be commended for their work in not only creating, but maintaining the Greenbelt area to such a high standard. If you are traveling through Idaho Falls to your final destination be sure to stop, take a break, and enjoy the outdoor art, gardens, and picnic areas. There is plenty of seating available, great restaurants nearby, and wonderful photo opportunities of the Falls. Don’t forget to visit the Japanese Gardens across the bridge. They are a sight not to be missed!
Many of the hotels that border the river have also engaged in this beautification project with their stunning gardens and floral displays. There is nothing better than to enjoy an evening meal sitting outside enjoying the ambiance and soothing sound of the river.

Went on a bike ride with my wife. Had a great time! Beautiful scenery. Watched an eagle swoop down and catch a large fish at the base of the falls. Was a fun ride!

This is my first visit to the Greenbelt in the summer. Lush and quiet. Good trails for biking or walking. Downtown well within walking distance and are many restaurants and shops. Nice Japanese garden the south of the main drag. Nice place for a romantic after dinner walk.

This puts you at water level out of the wind and next to nature, flowers, grass and wildlife. It really is a rewarding stroll. Also its an attractive place to fish and relax rather than having to leave down and drive away. This appears to be a natural habitat for fish to feed below the city power turbins powered by the water.

After diner we decided to talk a stroll around this feature. River was running high so Falls looked great. We were treated to an outdoor concert near the Temple which was a bonus. Great place to walk, mainly in the level. Despite the high temperatures there was shade in places.

The city has made lots of improvements and upgrades to make walking the river enjoyable for all ages. The wider walking paths make it easy for walkers, bikers, etc to not run over anyone. There is bathrooms all around and plenty of creative benches to rest on.

When I first arrived in Idaho Falls, I unpacked and headed out for a walk on the Greenbelt to work out the kinks after a series of long flights. It was a scenic walk on a paved and marked trail designed for non-motor vehicles. There are several options for shorter walks, and I combined a couple of the routes to end up walking 5 miles. Very enjoyable. I recommend.

Well kept and many places to stop by to rest. More work is on-going, so it will only get better. Getting a hotel on the walk is the way to go.

The recreation of Taylor's toll bridge is great. The old fish hatchery turned into little waterfalls and streams is kid friendly with the different paths.

We spent a couple of hours exploring this beautiful park along the river. You can stay on paved path or mix it up and get closer to river on dirt trails. There are some really interesting benches placed throughout, and a beautiful Japanese Friendship Garden to explore. It was all very clean, quiet, beautiful.

A lovely way to spend an hour or so. Interesting and informative signage to help explain what you are seeing. Flat terrain so easy to navigate and interesting bench shapes help to add interest. Across the street are places to dine, have an ice cream, or stay overnight. Beautiful views of the Mormon church

It is beautiful and peaceful. I could have listened to the rushing water for hours. The flowers and grass surrounding the area are gorgeous.

Bar none, one of the best River walks in the USA. Absolutely beautiful scenery, river and otherwise. Lots of structures that you can walk out on to get a close up view of the river. If you use a walker, a wheelchair or an electric cart, it's all handicap accessible. Major bonus is, they keep the walk spotless . You won't see so much as a stray napkin. Plenty of places to eat also

We enjoyed walking around the area and getting lunch at the local farmers market. Taking in the waterfall and exploring the park was a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon in the late fall.

I don't know how many miles it is long but you do have many different directions you can go, if you want to walk all day.

How nice to find this little oasis in Idaho Falls on our way back from Island Park to Salt Lake City. Great place top live in an urban setting with all the super recreational landscaping along the river for walking. Whole famiiy loved it.

Idaho was my last state of the (50) American states to visit. Since Idaho Falls was close to Yellowstone, I picked this city to visit. I really enjoyed the downtown area, and there was plenty of free parking. I took some very nice walks along the Snake River and I enjoyed the majestic waterfalls. Idaho Falls has many nice buildings and the path is well maintained and landscaped.

Been there in Jan and Mar. Beautiful in ice and snow. There are some great pieces of art and folksy design worked into this place.

This river walk is a wonderful asset to the town. Now you walk down the riverside on a safe path and enjoy the beauty of the Snake. We used to live in IF and came back to see the place after 30 years and were delighted with the riverwalk.

We first went there on a Sunday evening and it was clear that a lot of familiar come here to get out in the evening. Lots of dogs, too! On Monday and Tuesday morning I went for an exercise walk-also very popular here for walking, jogging, biking, etc. From Broadway up to the bridge and around is just short of 3 miles, and very pleasant. Bathrooms strategically located which is nice. Then end up at the Japanese Pavilion.

Park anywhere along the greenbelt and walk on either or both sides of the river. The landscaping is beautiful - we loved the Grizzly and Moose bushes. The falls were built with the hydroelectric project and are lovely. It's a restful walk and a good way to exercise after riding in the car!

Market on saturdays. The green belt is a nice scenic trail along the snake river in the heart of idaho falls. The are great views, plenty of ducks and wildlife, to be observed. The trails are paived and have several landmark decorations along the path. People here are very friendly so it's a nice place to destress

Snake River Greenbelt basically entails the areas along the Snake River where you can hike, picnic and play ball. The Idaho Falls River Walk is probably to me the most impressive part of the Greenbelt. How wonderful that the city has set aside such green area for the use and enjoyment of citizens of Idaho Falls and visitors!

We walked only a little of the area but it was interesting and offered varied delights from the art to the local flavor of the friendly people on the street

We took a rout through the area on our trip south from the Grand Tetons. This is sad, ghostly, run down town. We took the time to see the falls in the Greenbelt and it was pretty and the park seemed to be the best thing going for this town. We were never so happy to be hitting the road after this little and quick stop.

The green felt area is a great spot to take a walk. The geese are fun to watch. It is quite lovely and peaceful with the falls and we love going here.

We often take the kids down to walk the Greenbelt. It has been well developed and there are great views throughout and it is always a lot of fun.

Idaho Falls has a gorgeous greenbelt with a paved walkway, so you can walk along the Snake River between three bridges and spend time overlooking the scenic falls. There are several really good restaurants along the way. And if you walk a couple of blocks to Park Avenue, you'll reach the Snake Bite, which has the best burgers in Idaho.

I was able to access this trail from my motel, the Hilton Garden Inn. I enjoyed the walk, seeing the hydroelectric project, the waterfalls, ducks, and sculptures. They had a moose and a Grizzly bear with plants growing all over the sculptures. This is worth seeing if you visit Idaho Falls.

Just a nice way to spend a day vegetating with family or friends. It is a beautifully, scenic area and the explanatory plaques put it all together

The Green Belt is a beautiful peaceful place to be. Excellent conditions and the Snake River is cool and comfortable. Great place to unwind during your travels

I love to walk with my dog and the Greenbelt was perfect. Well maintained walkway, serene. Look forward to the next visit.

Much more enjoyable since most of the duck and goose population has diminished. The extensions of Snake River landing and Freeman Park to the enjoyment. People using it are friendly.

The Snake River Greenbelt, now officially called the Idaho Falls Riverwalk, is a pleasant place to walk. With many miles of paved walking and biking trails, it provides a scenic look at the river and falls. The areas along the path and being continuously improved with wonderful new landscaping and appealing natural areas. The new improvements on the west side of the river south of Broadway are particularly scenic.

This was easy to find since it was right downtown. There was lots of free parking along the Snake River and there was a restroom too. The falls were very rapid and the water level was the highest a local said he had ever seen it. It was a nice relaxing walk and there are places to eat or drink along the way.

Easy to get to. Beautiful scenery. Close to the Temple. Great for pictures. It was a perfect day when we went, and the water levels are impressive due to the heavy snow pack and wet spring.

You shouldn't pass through the area and not stop for this walk. The falls are so pretty and span pretty far along the trail. The Japanese Gardens are beautiful and a completely different feel from the rest of the walk. The trail and grounds surrounding the area are very well kept and maintained.

Beautiful falls and water to look at. Lots of shade and a nice walking/biking path. There are restrooms along the way and places to eat close by.

What a delightful discovery. 30 artistic benches to rest along the way. Signs along the way. Quiet safe and beautiful. Several bridges along the way to hotels.

Walk along the beautiful river on the path, or enjoy the Farmers Market from May to October, or come down for any of the art shows, musical events or activities that are available during the warm months. Come and see the river in the cold months. It's always beautiful.

This is a nice family attraction as well as historical. There is a bike/walking trail that is approximately 2 and a half miles long around the scenery. The water falls and dam provides a pleasant and quaint atmosphere around the entire attraction. There is also a Japanese Friendship Garden on the trail that is very peaceful and quiet as well as pleasant to view.

What an enjoyable walk after breakfast! 2.3 miles around the Snake River....plenty of seating along the route, clean restrooms, and great scenery....very relaxing at the Falls....

The falls at Idaho Falls is a man made concrete structure, diverting water for hydroelectric generation. From a former set of riffles, the dam has created a nice waterfall. The city has taken advantage of the location to create a greenbelt for walking and riding. When you look at the falls, you don't discount it as a dam, but a rather roaring falls. We visited during an unusually high runoff year, but I imagine it is nice anytime.

I'm a long-time resident and absolutely hate what the current mayor and city officials are doing to this town. My biggest gripe with the Snake River Greenbelt is that they uprooted mature trees that have been growing there for years, narrowed the traffic lanes (creating a real hazard with winter driving along that stretch of road) and eliminated multiple parking spaces for the Idaho Falls temple all in order to get about 6 more inches of space on the Greenbelt walking path. While some may rejoice over their additional 6 inches of asphalt, others of us are deeply annoyed at the thousands of our tax dollars that have been wasted making a complete mess of what used to be a decent roadway.
City officials also recently decided to completely close off Memorial Drive every Saturday from 8am - 1pm and sometimes much later for at least seven months of the year. Residents had no input on this decision and it has been a huge inconvenience when we need to go anyplace downtown. It was my understanding that the Snake River Landing area was created primarily for the purpose of hosting large events--like a market--so that other areas of town (e.g., Memorial Drive) wouldn’t end up being closed. But rather than use Snake River Landing as it was intended, city officials instead decided to close off the major access roadway that is Memorial Drive for hours and hours every weekend.
In short, I absolutely hate these changes and what it's doing to the city I love and the Greenbelt has been one of the biggest casualties. I don’t see that the thousands of our tax dollars the City has wasted have been at all worth the mess they’ve created for area traffic and residents. In fact, ongoing construction projects, some flooded areas, and dog and goose poop all over the place tend to make walking along the Greenbelt a noisy and often disgusting experience.

This is a great place that costs nothing. You can walk, bike, run, sit and picnic. We stopped across from the Falls. All along there were statues, places to sit and picnic. We also visited the Japanese friendships garden. Stop on the bridge and watch and listen the falls.

Absolutely loved walking along the Snake River Greenbelt. I was staying at Candlewood Suites and would use the path right from beside the hotel to walk to downtown. The scenery is delightful - the Snake River, colorful flora, waterfalls and a Japanese garden. I liked the fact that the greenbelt is on both sides of the river - different scenery/perspectives. There are several hotels, numerous dining establishments and a local art museum all located just steps from the greenbelt. It looks like additional paths are in the works, extending the greenbelt even further afield. More cities and towns should adopt such an example.

The Snake River through town, and the falls, are beautiful. Excellent place to walk, especially after many hours in the car. Beautiful and relaxing.

This place is beautiful a great walk on a beautiful day. The grounds are well manicured and they have some really cool benches when you need a break.

Wow, Idaho Falls has really created a gem with its greenbelt. Fantastic place to walk or bike. The civic groups and city have built beautiful gardens and the falls themselves are a vision of sustainable energy production.

Very nice walk. Lots of photo ops along the way. Fun to look at the various benches that are part of the "art you can sit on" program. Visitors center folks nice and helpful. Told us about the Japanese garden on the island.

The greenway is a great activity for people of all ages right near the Idaho Falls. I would recommend this to any family visiting Idaho Falls. Very well done paths and space in the midst of the city.

A must see if you visit Idaho Falls, Great place to get out and enjoy controlled nature. Can be walked, biked, or run. Can be great for groups or alone. I like to find a quite place to reflect and or people watch. Some great views and lots of history about the region on signs along the paths.

This is a beautiful area of town and worth stopping as you head to other destinations. I did an early morning run around the river and falls and the scenery was stunning!

Nice park, free parking, beautiful setting for a walk. Enjoyed taking photos of the art benches.
Japanese garden adjacent to it and we enjoyed last day of farmer's market.

Idaho Falls deserves compliments for creating this very nice public space along the river. It made our stop worthwhile.

We saw a mink dive into the water as we were walking along the Snake River Greenbelt overlooking Idaho Falls. It was really cool, though I'm sure a rare occurrence.

A very nice peaceful place to explore with the family, with plenty of places for the kids to explore. You must keep an eye on young children as there are places were a child could fall into the river. We also went back a month later just for a romantic walk without the kids. They have done a great job and appear to be continually adding more things. We have been to the Japanese gardens in Portland,OR and enjoyed the Idaho Falls garden just as much. These gardens are obviously smaller, but they have done a beautiful job and they are free to everyone. The gardens in Portland cost about $15 per person to visit. I would highly recommend a visit. What do you have to lose; it's free after all.

The Greenbelt is a nice area for walking, biking or just enjoying the scenery. They have done a good job with this area, and it's nice. Check out the falls area, and take some time walking around. Not far away there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.

A lovely park, great for a walk or an evening stroll. Don’t miss the opportunity for a few photos with the resident ducks!

The Greenbelt runs along the Snake River in the middle of downtown Idaho Falls, ID. It is so beautiful to see the falls and the animals along the way. In the summer we have Art shows and in the past have had our July 4th Freedom Celebration here as well. Craft shows have been held here and there is a Farmer's Market along the street that you can't miss. I actually walk this at least 3-4 times a week for exercise and each year they hold a Duck Race to raise funds to improve it even more. So come and grow to love our City's Greenbelt like we do.

Its always beautiful by the river. The path us easy, numerous artisan benches and its a beautiful walk.

Stopped by and walked around a bit. Saw lots of geese and ducks. The constant water fall is cool. My nephews son told us it provides 1/3 of Idaho electric. Great place to picnic but 25 degrees today. Will comeback. They seem to have put a lot into this place and it's cool

This is a beautiful place to walk, jog, ride a bike or just sit and listen to the peaceful sound of the waterfalls. Feed the ducks, or just sit and meditate. Beautiful views.

Disgusting stores and restaurants sociopaths with pets in all your businesses. People respect others and their businesses leave your pets home.

The views of the gorge here are absolutely stunning! Waterfalls were flowing when we were there. Park at the visitor center at the bridge and enjoy the paved path along the river and lookouts built out over it. The Perrine Bridge is a beautiful structure and (crazy) people base jump from it. It was a lot of fun to watch and cheer them on.

This is one of my all-time favorite places. The falls are so serene and calming. Summer is my favorite time to visit this spot. The greenery with the river is a gorgeous combination.

The greenbelt is a delightful place to take a walk when the weather is nice. There is public art, grass spaces, picnic tables all over both sides of the river. Enjoy some sunshine and outdoor time between May and October.

I love to walk in the morning. When traveling, the morning walks aren't always in nice surroundings. It was wonderful waking up early knowing that I got to walk the Snake River Greenbelt. The weather was perfect and there were just a few folks enjoying the trail. Idaho Falls appears to take pride in their city and it shows in this greenbelt.

Centered on the city's hydroelectric use of the Snake River, this walkway is the perfect focal point to welcome locals and visitors alike. Strollers, bikes, skates, runners, and pedestrians, alike merge into the flow of this riverside parade or locate one of the "sittable" art pieces and just enjoy the view! Sadly, though, geese, ducks, and squirrels are being trained to beg for "people" food and cleaning up after them is a full time job. This Saturday, the entire community is participating in the Spring Replanting ( although their landscaping is already very attractive).

This is a great place for a walk, even into the downtown. Lots of interesting art work along the way. The river is beautiful. Depending on day and time, many friendly people out enjoying nature.

This walk is about 2 miles with no grade and an excellent surface. You can definately get a wheelchair on it

There really is nothing special about the Snake River Greenbelt. Except for the Falls, it would go down as just an exercise path. There are other greenbelts in Idaho, especially the Boise Greenbelt, that are much nicer.

We had a great time on a short easy walk along the river. It was a beautiful day and the river was lovely. The Friendship Park on the island was gorgeous. This is well worth the time and effort.

It was ok but maybe I’m spoiled from living in Orange County Ca. The falls is pretty but not very impressive. Niagara falls is impressive and this doesn’t even come close. The snake river falls seemed like the only thing going on in this small town.

The Greenbelt has outstanding paved paths for bicycling, walking, jogging or enjoying the Snake River on a grassy, shaded area. Our elementary-age grandkids love to bike to the Greenbelt and have lunch on one of the picturesque knolls along the river.
The restrooms near the falls are well maintained and the water fountains are greatly appreciated.

What an admirable job, the green belt was created very lovingly. The amazing snake river, the rocks piled close to it, the creative benches and sculptures. Even though it was very cold, we bundled up and ventured out, so glad we did. We both marvelled how beautifully everything was designed, with so many areas and benches to sit and admire. Stopped at the tourist office along the way and received so much valuable advice, very friendly staff. It was a cold day and they had a nice fireplace going, we marvelled at their floors. Apparently so many do, they gave us a writeup on how we could do our concrete floors ourselves. So many charming people, charming city!

This is an amazing gift to the people of Idaho Falls and all visitors. A beautiful 4 mile plus walkway along both sides of the Snake River and around the falls created by a hydroelectric dam build by Idaho Falls in an energy conservation project. There are a number of "work of art" benches placed along the pathway. Beautiful and very creative. Wildlife include geese, ducks, prairie dogs and at least one beaver. We were in Idaho Fall for 2 nights and walked the path 3 times. If we lived there, we'd walk it every day. Besides the river, falls and wildlife, there are plenty of interesting people to watch. Great investment for the people of Idaho Falls and their guests.

This is a great walk-about, with beautiful views of the Snake River, and some fun shopping and resaraunts.

There's lots of bike and walkway mileage you could cover on this greenbelt following both the north and south banks of the Snake River. But the capstone location is really the dam, the sheets of falls, and the opportunity to relax and picnic in the shadow of all this. I did an early evening walk of both the the north and south sides from the downtown W. Broadway crossing. The falls, though not high, are dramatic in their expanse. If you're staying overnight maybe take a hotel room with a view. Then you'll be at the site and have more opportunity to explore it. There's a Japanese garden on the south side. Seems to be a pretty popular congregating spot among the local young set. There are several restaurants on the adjacent streets and even some boat traffic. Fishing is allowed as is swimming. But for swimming you'll probably want to locate away from the downtown section. South on the east bank is a camping area. There's also a nice park area up by Idaho State U. Remember, for falls viewing you'll want to be on the west side by Broadway. You'll find plenty of street parking adjacent; just follow the roadway.

It was a whitebelt when I was there, but beautiful. Covered in snow with the falls. The path was cleared, and walking was not a problem even in the snow. I hope I get to see it green! If you are in town, you should really make time for at least a part of this.

Having some time to kill in Idaho Falls recently, we went on a walk (adjacent to our hotel) in the Snake River Greenbelt. We went just in the part south of the bridge on Broadway. A highlight of the walk was the Japanese Friendship Garden, close to the bridge. The whole walk was beautiful, as well as cool in the hot summer sun. There are many types of plants and flowers and trees. We had walked along the river north of the bridge a number of times on previous trips, but never the south part. This was a really pleasant and relaxing walk along the river.

Took my cousin and family on a tour of the city. They are looking for a place to retire. Wonderful venue for relaxing and also for exercising, walking, riding bike, jogging and people watching.

Take a nice walk along the greenbelt and enjoy a beautiful evening. Dress warm if you are going in the winter. The river is just as beautiful in the winter but I recommend a nice sunny day after a hard freeze so you get the ice formations for a different experience.

Beautiful day in late May! I could do this walk everyday and could use this kind of view everyday! Just be aware of the geese poop, unavoidable since there are so many of them roaming around freely.

The Snake River Greenbelt flows through the central part of town and is undoubtedly the area's most significant and attractive sight seeing feature. There are several hotels (and a few restaurants) located within walking distance of the greenbelt and it's worth staying in one of these if visiting the area. It truly warrants a daily visit for your length of time staying in the city.
The river here has been dammed in a most unique fashion, creating an attractive lake along with a long series of waterfalls - all while maintaining some of the original flowing river. This results in a very interesting and attractive waterway that's about a mile long, with much of it begging for pictures.
A park like environment lines both sides of the river/lake area, including a concrete path loop (2.5 mi?) that is perfect for walking, jogging, or skating. Along with this is colorful landscaping, including nice green grass, trees, flowers, sculptures, benches, and interpretive displays. There's also a few off-path detours offering rock seats to enjoy the rushing water scene a tad more privately.
The entire area is free and open to the public day and eve, along with nearby free street parking. There are clean bathrooms on both sides of the river. The area is wheelchair negotiable, though crossing the river's bridges in order to make a loop may be undesirable. Remember, this is the prime place to be for 4th of July. People reserve real estate with blankets early in the day and the hotels become full and pricey.
I wouldn't consider Idaho Falls a destination tourist spot by itself, but it's a nice, small, comfortable town to stay in - for off-roaders visiting the nearby St. Anthony's Sand Dunes, for fishermen and campers visiting the nearby South Fork of the Snake River, or for travelers on their way north to Salmon or east to the Tetons. In any case, this Greenway is definately worth some of your time.

We walked along here in the early evening on a travel stop over and thoroughly enjoyed! Lots of families out enjoying the scenery as well. The scenery is beautiful but definitely man made influences (not all natural).

Visiting Idaho Falls, the first thing expect are perhaps the mighty falls... With this in mind, one may perhaps be disappointed walking along the Snake river greenbelt, Not us! We enjoyed walking and taking pictures along the very wide mini falls, with the churches in the background. Everything was so pastoral and serene, with the white noise of the running water all around us. A nice walking before dinner.

Beautiful views of the river, the Falls, flowers and other sites. Great for couples, families, or groups. Easy enough for people with difficulty walking and challenging enough areas for children who want to climb.

Beautiful park full of lovely metal sculptures of animals. Peaceful. Falls are exceptional for a city green space. Nice walk along the River.

We walked a round the snake river and we had a great time. We loved the views in the park with all the art from diverse artists.

Grab a book and sit across any of the many waterfalls. My favorite spot is the Japanese garden next to the pedestrian bridge adjacent to the Residence Inn. Totally relaxing.

I run the green belt all the time. View is great and the people are always happy. You can go 2,4 or6 miles! Have fun!

Love the Chinese Garden. Its one of our favorite places to go as a family. The Greenbelt is clean all the way around and we enjoy it most in the summer.

Pretty scenery and and easy and mostly flat walking path that can be done as a whole or in segments. Artsy benches along the route.

Stopped by for a quick visit and was stunned to see free curbside parking and lots of spaces. Most cities would have meters on such an attraction. Took for the dam area for the best view. River is pretty impressive. Unless walking the route, this is a 10-minute attraction.

Great for walking the dog, running, biking, sitting, photography, picnicking. Stayed in a motel across the street from the Greenbelt, near the falls, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The "art work you can sit on" is unique and like being in an outdoor art museum. Plenty of trees, lawn, geese--and goose poop, and shade structures. The entire Greenbelt appears to cover several miles along the Snake River although I did not get to explore all of it.
From the signage along the river it appears that swimming and boating are allowed except near the falls (for obvious reasons).
There are plenty of dog clean-up bag stations along the trail and it appears that most people do a good job cleaning up after their pets. The paved pathway appears to be cleaned regularly of duck and goose excrement. The pathway is smooth enough and wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs, strollers, persons with wheeled walkers, etc. I am guessing that this place gets crowded in the summer time due to it's interesting scenery and accessibility. Great place for outdoor exercise or relaxation.

This walk has it all. Waterfalls, Zen garden, bear and moose statues. Well maintained with plenty of grass and wide paved walk ways. Pets are welcomed.

We are in Idaho to visit a friend and passing through. Stopped at this park to see the falls. It is very pretty here. I took a great frame able picture of up the river with the church in the background.

The Snake River has huge waterfalls right in the center of Idaho Falls. Beautiful places to walk, feed geese or just gaze at the water. Be sure you don't miss the Japanese pagoda and gardens. Beautiful!

Nice to have some "nature" in the middle of a town, very well kept. Although the most beautiful spot we found was kinda off the trail right in front of our motel- The Residence Inn

The waterfalls are just stunning at the Snake River in Idaho Falls. They have nice walking path plus great spots to take pics. A nice place for couples and families to hang out. Very calming!!

We walked alongside the river on both sides for some considerable distance. The planting of flowers and shrubs is excellent. The park at one end of the walk was very restful.

It was very pretty, but the best part was the sound of the water cascading over the falls. Partially man made, it was still thrilling.

This was rated #1 on TripAdvisor and it was worth a stop while in this friendly community. This park has lovely human-made waterfalls and interesting sculptures. It has colorful flower beds and other delightful landscaping. It also commerates German WWII prisoners of war who did labor while living here.

The path and river are really nice but while my wife and I were sitting across from the Mormon temple some teenagers in a truck yelled "wrap it before you tap it" and just before that another truck of kids yelled something about sticking something somewhere. We found it to be kind of funny.

This was a gorgeous walk on the greenbelt with wonderful views of the falls. The kids enjoyed running up and down the rocks.

Took s walk around the river, very nice and easy. It took about an hour, no sweat, my daughter didn't complain! We sat on the various benches that are in different shapes. We went to the farmers market and had a scone - really good! Drop by the Temple visitors center, nice place.

This is a great place to walk, picnic, take the dog and just relax. So convenient to so many things it is a wonderful spot in the city.

We stayed at a hotel nearby and walked every morning, extremely clean, felt safe and enjoyed looking at the waterfalls, art work benches and beautiful flowers. Walked one evening and enjoyed a concert in the park. Great place for anyone who enjoys a nice walk or run with beautiful scenery.
Scenic view!
It's so gorgeous place! Was in Idaho Falls for a short time.So decided to come next year to explore more.Nice place to walk along the Snake River in the morning or during sunset.Huge waterfalls, geese, ducks.Lots of parking, benches where you can just enjoy the view.I've seen just a small part of the Snake River Greenbelt. So next time I'll spend more time here.
