We tried this on a whim and we're glad we did. The parking is pretty much scarce. But when we left we realized there was additional parking right up the way and you can walk to the entrance. The steps started out out fine and got more steep and slippery, so wear the right shoes! There were some areas that had rope you could hold on to, they don't go all the way down though. We went basically all the way down but stopped on a steady step. It's the same view either way, which was absolutely stunning! The double water fall could not have been more beautiful. It's also cool to see those things in person, they almost look fake. There is a platform only a few steps in, almost like a deck that you can see everything from just as well. Very awesome quick stop.

Our visit to the falls was cut short by pouring rain. None the less it was wonderful and beautiful. If you go make sure you have rain gear with you it could make things a little easier.

This is a wonderful experience when you want to hike but don’t have too much time. The view from above is great, and the view at the bottom is even better; however, it is a very steep, tho, short hike. You will need to use the ropes and be fairly agile. Also parking is quite limited and is a pull off not a real parking lot,

This was a fantastic hike, with enough add on loops to make it as long as you want. To get to the upper falls is a short (less than a mile each way) hike, but coming back through the blueberry fields added a good bit of distance. Well worth the time and energy. The falls are magnificent, and very different in formation from other waterfalls.

We stopped to enjoy the beauty of this frozen waterfall. The wall down to the platform is a short one and I ventured on down with short trail to the base (with the rope assistance).

These falls are right off the side of the road literally. If you are brave enough to venture down close they are truly breath-taking. Highly recommend.

Beautiful falls. NOT FAR TO GET TO. Wasn't crowded. Not alot of parking. You can walk down to falls while holding ropes. It's nice and easy to get to.

Park your car carefully on the shoulder of the road. Find your footing to descend a few steps to the viewing platform. From the platform, you will see one waterfall easily, but the second will be mostly obscured. If you want to get closer to the bottom of both waterfalls, you can take a scramble path. Just be sure to hold onto the rope, and make sure that each step you take is secure. Exercise common sense.

We made a quick stop at Soco falls, which is located between Maggie Valley and Cherokee. We were coming from Maggie Valley and didn't see a sign, but my husband was able to put the location into Google Maps and it directed us to the trailhead. There was not a lot of parking. The hike down to the falls was adventurous. The weather had been below freezing all week, and there were some icy spots on the trail. The falls were also partially frozen, which made them beautiful to see.

Some things you just can't find anywhere else. Make the effort to see this breathtaking sight. You will NOT be disappointed!

Easy to find - a quick but steep trail to the best views. Plenty of opportunities to play and explore the area.

Not a hard climb at all. Short distance and I am glad I saw such beauty with my best friend and husband of 49 years.

I wasn't too sure if we would be able to find this. It's off the beaten path and there's not much parking. It's a short hike to the observation deck. If it has just rained I would not suggest trying to hike. There aren't any rails and it was pretty muddy even though it hadn't rained in days. It's also a pretty steep hike so be prepared for that. It's a short hike to the observation deck, which offers a great view of the falls. It's worth a stop if you are traveling in the area and like waterfalls. Also, there is a path down to the waterfall, but it's not recommended unless you are an experienced hiker. If you can get down to the bottom you would be able to get a really nice shot of the waterfall.

This was a difficult place to find a parking space on a busy Saturday afternoon on Memorial Day weekend. There was about a 100 ft path down to the observation deck which could be a bit challenging for anyone with walking difficulties. The view was nice but I am sure there are nicer falls views in Western NC.

was a wonderful way to spend few hours. The view was wonderful & the walk was great. Definetely worth the trip.

The sign is down and the access is gone. I don't know if the platform was vandalized or weakened by water but there is a high fence blocking the access now. I hope NC does some reconstruction and opens up this magnificent natural place soon.

Soco Falls is a short walk from the road right outside of Maggie Valley heading toward Cherokee. You have the option of seeing the falls from a platform or you can take the trail to the bottom of the falls which has rope to repel down the trail. The view is spectacular either way.

Beautiful, and literally right off the road! I stop here each time I’m in Maggie Valley and I enjoy it every time!

Beautiful waterfalls. Limited parking space on the side of the road. There is an observation area that is easy to get to, but if you can hike down to the bottom of the waterfall the view is amazing. You’ll need good shoes and you’ll need to use ropes to get down, as the path is a bit challenging. Definitely worth it.

This was an awesome find thanks to Trip Advisor! It was amazing. Easy to the platform then a little ambitious. But even if you just go down to the platform it is amazing!

I just realized that I had not done a review of this place and I just visited the mountains in September to see family . I have done this hike a couple of times and it is a short one , but can be a little slippery , so make sure you have the right shoes . They do have some ropes to help guide you and a lookout platform . The parking lot is small , only holds less than 10 cars and you can easily pass it if you don't know where to look . My son did this hike with me in 2010 , so I included our pictures . It is very cool .

A pull of from US 19, limited parking but you won't be there all day. What a beautiful rushing waterfall, in fact its a double waterfall, so double the beauty. A short walk downhill towards a lookout point. Worth checking out.

Very beautiful! Includes steps and steep descending walkway with rocks but can use ropes already there to hold on to. There is also an overlook for those who can’t do the climb.

Beautiful water fall. I love hearing the sound of the water as it falls. So beautiful to look at. I could not get down to touch the water because it rained earlier that morning and the ground was too wet and slippery to climb down to the water fall. I plan to go back and hope it is dry so I can climb down and touch the water. I love water falls.

Soco Falls is right off the path -super short hike to a platform to view the falls. Parking was a bit of a mess, so try going early if possible. There is a rope with a steep climb down to the base of the falls, but be sure you can hike back up. Come prepared with proper footwear if you are planning on doing this.

We walked the path and regretted every moment, felt we could fall off an die in this fall. Waterfall is beautiful but at what cost?
I sincerely warn anyone against going to this fall. Is not worth the risk !
I saw 2 beautiful grandkids taking their grandfather, he was apprehensive going back up . It was a heartbreaking moment, don't wish this anyone.

We planned a long weekend visiting several waterfalls from Gatlinburg to NC. We almost drove by and missed this hidden gem. It is along the side of the road. It is a gorgeous waterfall. It actually is 2 waterfalls. The trail leading down to it was a little steep. There is a deck for viewing & another area that leads to bottom of the falls. We did not take the trail down to bottom of the falls for fear of falling. I wish we had! The day were were there there was a rainbow at the bottom of the falls. You will not be disappointed!

So worth the trip down. Very steep, wet, mushy dirt. There are ropes to hold onto and are very helpful to pull yourself back up. Wear appropriate shoes and good chance will get dirty.

Beautiful waterfall!
Very small parking area, and easy to miss if you aren't paying attention.
Short descent to viewing platform. The path could be a little difficult for some as the steps are uneven and the path can be slippery.
You are able to walk down to the water, although we did not. Someone did put ropes up to assist but it would still be very slippery. We were thankful no one was down at the water when we were there so we were able to take photos with out people in them!

Easy to find and an easy little hike down a path to see the falls. Not much parking but found a spot on our second pass. Not a good hike for those who have health issues. The view is worth it!

The Cherokee Nation has made a large parking area and comfortable and safe trail and viewing platform for viewing this waterfall. It is just south of the Blue Ridge Parkway and hard to miss. This is far safer than the small and dangerous gravel parking area on the shoulder of the road and "iffy" trail that used to provide the only access.

Great scenic waterfall. But as stated above, it is a steep walk down to the viewing platform. I would recommend this site for those that are capable of navigating uneven and steep pathway

A great Waterfall to visit! However, be sure to proceed with caution. Witnessed a few people slide much more than I'm sure they wanted to and depending on your cell service you may not have reception if something goes wrong. So please proceed with caution. :-) My lady and I made the trek down the steep rocks held on to tree trunks, rope previously tied by other adventure seekers, and each other as we made our way down to the heart of the waterfall. It was an amazing view, the feeling of the water blasting off the rocks and transforming into mist then coating your body. The clean smell of nature as it purifies the air and the water which runs through the heart of this falls. Though its small compared to others its still in a category of its own. The deeper you go down the further you want to go. We eventually turned around and realized we were the only ones around and had went pretty deep down the water fall trails. We had a great time and intend to visit again with the kids. Parking is limited and is off of a curve on the streets above so be aware of that as well as the wildlife that we know are out there but you don't really see to much of until you go into one of the local shops and see tons of wolf skin, and other animals. As always, travel safely my friends.

This is just a pull of the side of road but worth your walk down . Must be able to climb up and down . Beautiful pictures tone made. Free ...not recommended if you can't climb . But worth every step you take

Absolutely breathtaking! If you are an outdoorsy type, then this is a must see. The trails in the area are amazing, too. You can actually get down close to the falls.

I asked for directions to the falls, since they are off the beaten path. When I arrived, I could hear the water but almost backed out. The path was steep with nothing to hold on to ... luckily, I pressed on! A nice couple helped me down the slippery path. I stopped at the observation deck. The pathway was treacherous and slick due to recent torrential rains. My mom, who is 79, stayed back. I'm glad she did.
I'm so glad I risked it, the view was so worth it!

Soco Falls was a place we wanted to visit, but proved a little hard to find. There was a sign, a small sign on the side of the road, but only if you were coming from the Bryson City direction, so we had to search for the right location. However, when we found it, it was well worth the time it took to get there. The trail is well defined for the most part. Some of it was rather tricky, but mostly an easy and short hike. If you are in the area, please take the time to go. The falls were beautiful!!

This area has nice and quaint hotels to stay at. On Soco road you can find many of these places and find interesting places to eat. It is very scenic in this area, in the mountains. I would recommend visiting if you want to stay at a place that is pretty but isn't expensive and has down to earth people living there. It is also near a Native American reservation with a Harrah's casino that is a really fun place to visit.

Short little walk from the parking area, however if you want to go down lower they do you have ropes set up in between trees help you get down and get back up spectacular wonderful views

We visited Soco falls over July 4th weekend. This was a short hike but good shoes are helpful to navigate the path down. There are ropes to hold onto in certain spots but the clay is slippery and my daughters boyfriend actually ended up helping a more mature hiker down the path. Parking is limited at the trailhead, look for parking just east on the falls side of the road or a bit further down there is a cleared area on the opposite side of the road. We parked in this clearing on the day we went.

Not well marked and no cell phone coverage so print out directions from their website. A bit of a scramble to get to lookout but very nice view. I didn't go all the way to the base since I was feeling woozy. Not as crowded as some of the other local attractions.

Not really that big of a deal. The climb down and back up was more enjoyable than the falls themselves. Walkway was muddy and slippery, so be careful and use the ropes.

easy to access for viewing but difficult--and not well marked--if trying to get closer or for views aside fr/ those easily accessible fr/ the parking area. Note: the parking area is not large and fills easily and both ingress and egress can be difficult as the highway is busy, the parking area is on a curve, and folks tend to speed through the area.

We were driving out of Cherokee heading for Asheville when we seen a sign for Soco Falls. We thought why not stop. We wanted a break anyway. We whipped our car into the very small parking area. We were unprepared for what we would behold. Honestly, it is two waterfalls converging into a small creek bed in close proximity to each other. I know we have all seen waterfalls before so no big deal. But getting to the bottom of the falls is the fun. It is a rugged rope strung, rock strewn trip to the bottom. Add to that slippery conditions and it was quite the adventure to get to the creek bottom. We ventured down and are glad that we did.
For the less adventurous there is an observation area that is quite neat as well. It is a very short hike less than a half mile round trip. We will stop at these little signs more often. Who knows an adventure could be waiting for us. Definitely Stop when in the area!

Soco Falls is a gorgeous double waterfall in the Smokey Mountains and is directly off the road with a parking access. The falls are incredible and there is a big wow-factor here. In the spring I imagine the falls are even more impressive, but it is was a treat seeing the waterfalls partially frozen too. Really beautiful!

While the view from the upper viewing deck is stunning, it is hard to get to, and you better be in fair shape!
The lower viewing area is even harder to get to!

When you ride in the Cherokee lands don't miss the opportunity to see Soco waterfalls! It's amazing! Especially when the weather is hot - you'll enjoy it's cold water mist and sounds of real power of Mother Nature!

This is a beautiful waterfall and definitely worth a stop. Parking is very limited along the roadside. From the parking area, there are a few steps down to a viewing platform where you can get a nice look at the falls. If you are able, I highly recommend making the hike down to the basin. The path is short but very steep and can be slippery at times. We managed it with our 3-year-old, but it was definitely challenging. The view from the bottom is absolutely worth it!

Our first time here and we are not disappointed. Go slow or you will miss the pull off parking. The trail can be a little steep but the views are worth it.

It's hard to get parking on the side of the road, but worth the hassle. We visited several waterfalls in the surrounding are, and the height and water spilling are the best at this waterfall.

Our friend brought us here for the kids to see the falls. They had a blast playing in the (cold) water. It's absolutely beautiful. If you aren't so steady on your feet I'm not sure if you should adventure down to the bottom though, it can be slippery and steep in some areas.

Very beautiful falls however a little tricky and slick to get to the bottom. No handicap access available.

This waterfall is between Maggie Valley and Cherokee. The first time going to it, we somehow missed it and had to turn around. I blamed it on my GPS, but another car next to us ended up in the spot we were in and we were both looking for the waterfall. Ultimately, we both found it. Pay close attention to the highway signs for it. It is a nice stop and it also happened to be my first waterfall I ever saw. There is a platform for people to view the waterfall from, but if you are more daring, you can climb down the rocks to the waterfall to get closer. There are ropes strung between trees to hang on to, but it is difficult even with the ropes. The older people in our group stayed up on the platform and took pictures, while the younger and more athletic ones climbed down. I was glad we made this stop on our way to Cherokee.

The falls is on the road but only identified with a small sign and the trail to the falls is short but very poorly maintained. The lower section of the trail could result in a fall to the visitor. The waterfall itself is excellent not as big as others in the area but still a good view.

This is a beautiful waterfall that is double. It is on a half mile trail that is steep in places .
The waterfall is definitely worth the short walk on some difficult terrain. It will be gorgeous to go back in the Fall.

We stopped at the waterfall and it was absolutely worth it! Getting to the platform isn’t too hard, but it’s not easy for very small children or the elderly.
There is a rope where you can descend all the way down to the bottom of the falls, but you need to be in decent/moderate shape and probably at least 10 years old to try to get down there. We did not attempt to go as it was very slick and we had small children. Overall a MUST SEE!
Note: It’s very difficult to find these Falls - especially if you’re traveling from Maggie Valley toward Cherokee. If you’re coming from Maggie Valley, keep a lookout for a big black chain link fence and small parking area on the left side of the road. It’s not marked and very easy to pass. It’s also on a bend, so keep your eyes peeled!

Stopped in after driving to Maggie valley. Just a short little walk to the platform. I walked on down to the bottom but it's alittle steep and slick. Good for a short stop

Great view, head down the trail, follow the signs.
I saw several people end up going to wrong way, confused by the private property sign next to the trail. Go past that gated area and proceed to the falls.
As water fall hikes go, this is one of the easier ones, but they are always more difficult on the way back up.

It was my birthday and it was so peaceful. I had a wonderful time. And yes I recommend it again. Maggie Valley was nice and even though it was in June. The weather was really nice. It was warm but not overbearing hot.

Beautiful falls in the mountains! A bit hard to find driving up from Maggie Valley as not well marked in that direction. Once we found it, however, it was definitely worth it. Short hike down to the base with ropes to hold on to.

Just a short hike from the parking area to the observation deck. The view from the deck was good and a good safe place to take pictures. Worth the drive from Cherokee.

It was quite a descent to get to the viewing platform…slippery & rough. The viewing platform was nice. Some people went down further and they told us not to try it with our developmentally delayed son, so we stayed on the platform.

My only issue with this place is you have to be careful, getting to it. I am not quite a spring chicken anymore, but i felt like this place needed some safety rails to hang onto. If you slipped you could break something, like an arm or leg. Worth the walk though, short and sweet down a hill.

For a minimal amount of effort you can look a beautiful waterfall square in the face. It’s a very short walk down to the fall. Some areas are narrow and a bit steep so if your afraid just go slow. It’s an easy hike and good for all active levels.

So beautiful and just off the beaten path. I do wish there was more parking. We went up to the first landing and got plenty of great pics. U can go down to the base of the falls but it looked too treacherous for me since there’s only a rope to hold onto.

We drove right past this falls as the signage from the East is non existent. Parking for 6-7 cars only. Short but difficult walk down a rock and dirt path, with nothing to hold onto. Beautiful large falls that is not dependent on rain to be full. Worth the effort.

The falls were gorgeous,, water was really strong , the walk down is a bit steep but they gave ropes to assist ,,,, well worth it

Located 10 mins from Cherokee a beautiful double falls right off of US 19 in Maggie Valley. The trail down to the viewing platform is uneven and rocky when its wet it can be very sketchy hiking poles wouldn't be needed when dry but on the day we went it was very wet so my 68 year old mother used the poles to keep her balance. Getting down to the base of the falls can be very difficult when its wet thankfully there are guide ropes to hold on to. I used them to go down backwards like rappelling the rope down to the base. I had my backpack with my camera gear so I could use my hands. For the better photos you want to get down to the base of the falls. My insistent mother slid down on her bottom. I read that there have been some deaths as a result of people climbing the falls and slipping when we were there we witnessed a family climb up to the top of the falls and it looked super sketchy and not worth the risk.

I had been past these falls dozens of times but never knew they were there until searching for them. We came from Maggie valley and I never did see a sign but saw the pull off too late had to turn around and come back. There is a sign coming from Cherokee that I am certain of. The pull off may fit 5 cars but that's about it. The falls are beautiful but probably not a great idea to walk down if you question your footing. There is a platform part of the way that was easy enough but since it had rained, we left the trek to the bottom of the falls to the younger crowd.

Beautiful place to visit. Little risky climbing down but you don't have to. Nice deck observation to see the falls

Short hike to a gorgeous double falls! The hike to the observation deck was quite easy. However, the hike to get to the bottom to see the other falls was a bit more treacherous. Luckily, there is a rope to hold on to. The rope isn't too helpful on your descent, but it comes in vary handy while trying to get back to the top. The falls were beautiful!

Simple / short trail but a bit steep in places for lower part. Double waterfall with a lot of mist at bottom.

Every year we try and find a new waterfall trail as requested by my wife. Soco Falls was the destination this year as it is close to our cabin(speaking of which...stay at the Smoky Mountain Playhouse). Beautiful waterfall! As an added bonus, the trail was challenging enough that they strung guide ropes down the steep parts of the trail. Fear not, they have a great upper ramp from which to view the falls. My Google maps app took us right to the parking area which is rather small and right next to the highway. Go and enjoy!

Although this waterfall was quite nice to look at,the pathway down to it was very steep and insecure with many areas having no railings to protect the visitors. The overall maintenance of the area surrounding SOCO WATERFALL was very very poor

Awesome awesome awesome!
From other reviews, I was thinking the guide ropes were put up by passerbys rather than someone with skill, but I was pleasantly surprised in their placement and security. Treking down river a bit was fun as well.

The Falls are pretty. This is just a heads up for folks not used to steep paths and uneven ground. Areas without railings. People were exhausted climbing back up to the parking lot.
Many unaware of how long the walk was. 1.1 mile round trip but not stable for some. Maybe a sign at the parking lot might help. .

It's only about .3 miles roundtrip. It's easy to the viewing platform. Below that is a rope to help you get down. Not many people around and super fun to go to the bottom.

Lovely, must see. Great photo opportunity. Wear sturdy shoes. Very rocky terrain, difficult to get down to.

Breathtaking. Coming from Maggie valley Not so easy to find. The only way we found it was we saw cars pulled off the side of the road and we wondered why they were pulled off. Maybe signs fell down or are hidden? We ended up in Cherokee so we turned and came back up the hill. There we saw a sign, very small blue sign, and of course it was where the cars were pulled off the road. The walk down wasn’t bad. I only went as far as the observation dec but the teenager went all the way down to take pictures and video. Well worth it as we saw icicles too.

Great little waterfall on the side of the road on the way to Cherokee. Due to the location there is minimal parking so you may want to visit during the week as the weekends tend to fill up quick. Also be sure you wear sneakers and not sandals or flip flops because its very narrow and steep walkway down to the waterfall. Once there it is very beautiful!! There is a deck to get a great view or you can walk all the way down. Definately worth the stop!

Double Falls easy decent to deck. Careful short decent to double falls better view from bottom. Parking easier in am. Half way between Cherokee and Maggie Valley. Definitely worth the stop.

This waterfall was easy to find and a breath-taking spot to check out. The ropes to get down to the bottom of the fall and back up were very convenient.

This is a beautiful double waterfall and there is a viewing platform just off the road but I am not sure how good the view will be from up there. We instead braved the arduous journey down to the bottom using ropes to hold onto. Would not recommend for those with small children, elderly or those who have any physical limitations. Make sure your shoes have tread and a hiking stick wouldn’t be a bad idea. Parking is also limited.

Be ready for some climbing to get down to the falls. We were with our blind friend and her seeing eye dog. They were able to navigate to the observation deck with some assistance. Beautiful waterfall.

Very nice falls - worth the break in driving. Google hasn't updated the new entrance so if you're following it, drive a bit further on the road. You can't miss the new sign and parking lot. Note that the trail appears to be under construction/renovation. Some new railings and a few stone steps, but it is mostly light gravel and dirt and VERY steep!!! Good soles and trekking poles recommended. Not for those with mobility issues.

We are a couple in our 60’s and thought this was an easy 120 yard hike to the platform. It rained the night before, yet, it might of took us 10mins. to decline. NOT much different going back up even with the incline. Very little parking and could be dangerous pulling out, the worse thing about stopping and looking at the falls.

Beautiful double waterfall .. short hike down to falls from pull off on highway... well worth the stop !!!

It was very relaxing to hear the water rushing. There is a observation platform that isn't that difficult to get to, but if you want to go to the bottom of the falls, it is more difficult to get down. On the way up, I did find another way - when at the bottom of the falls, if facing the waterfall, go left and follow the creekbed a little ways , you will see a less steep path going up towards the platform deck.

While driving back home to NJ from Cherokee, we saw the sign for Soco Falls and decided to pull off to take a look. Boy, were we happy we did! The climb around the falls was relatively easy, although certainly not handicap accessible. But, even from the top of the road, you can see some of the falls. What a great free view of nature!

Easy waerfall to miss finding, only reason I found it was a number of cars parked in a small parking lot. I didn't see a sign coming from Maggie Valley however, I did see one when returning after I missed the site on my way back from Cherokee.
This was one of the most challenging waterfalls I've visited. The walk down to the fall isn't easy, if it is muddy it is even harder. Which unfortunately it was the day I visited. It was so challening to me that I couldn't even make to the best viewing site. It appeared that a series of rope somewhat like a net was down near the water.
If I had a chance to go back I wouldn't. If your mobility challenged, I'd recommend avoiding this fall.

The walk down is a little challenging. The views are absolutely beautiful. We really enjoyed the mist coming off the falls definitely worth a trip.

A lovely waterfall to see and it's not far from the road. So pretty there. We would have loved to walk all the way down, but it had rained and was muddy.

Soco Falls is a great place to stop on 19 while heading to Maggie Valley. There is parking right on the side of the road. I visited in the spring, so cannot tell you what this is like during the winter. In any case, ANYWHERE along the BRP (Blue Ridge Parkway) is beautiful country and worth a drive to get out of the city and enjoy the ride.

Super short hike, but enjoyed the difficulty getting to and from the waterfalls, which were breathtaking. Plenty of creek stomping opportunities for the kids too.

Sure wish there was an easier trail option to view this lovely waterfall – maybe there is but we were not aware. My husband has difficulty walking distances and somewhere I read the trail was .1 not 1.1 miles so he said ‘sure’. It was a quite steep and at times unstable down and then back up trail. He did ok with a few rest stops along the way. I had hoped to find an area I could drive down to pick him up but was not familiar with any other options. Lovely double waterfall. with a small viewing platform. To get to the actual bottom of the falls, there is a steep short hike with no rails etc. Be aware it is not for anyone with mobility ‘issues’.

Easy climb down to the observation deck, a little steeper getting down to the bottom but not too difficult.

Once you find a place to park, and make your way down the ruff terain there lies the beautiful waterfall. The water is cold and you can find all kinds of place to take great pictures.

The trail down to view these falls doesn't even qualify as a goat trail, it's treacherous. We experienced an injury, this is Cherokee property and rights are limited on their Sovereign property. Beware

just loved it. The viewing platform is perfect and an easy hike. To get to tributary to Falls nice as well .. easy slope. To get to bottom of falls .. difficult but worth it. An amazing place to visit and sit and see. Breathtaking views of amazing falls.

Absolutely beautiful falls in summer or fall. The viewing platform is nice and sturdy but for the more adventurous you can climb down and and see the falls from below. Trail can be a little slick with leaves in the fall or when wet so take the downward hike slow and steady. So worth the view!!! We have have done this hike several times over the years. Love the viewing platform that was added several years ago.

We came to visit these falls, after searching and following the information about the location. They are NOT signed, so please follow the direction and pay attention about the very small parking area in the curve. Park there walk to the platform see them from the top, but if you want to appreciate them you MUST go down holding on to the ropes that are located at the left of the platform. It is steep and very slippery so you must hold on to the ropes. Once at the base you will see how beautiful these twin falls are.
Worth the trip

Loved visiting this waterfall area. Easy access to the site. Be careful walking down. There is a viewing platform and you can hike to the bottom. Don't recommend the hike if you are elderly or have knee replacements. Steep. Beautiful view from the overlook. Limited parking so watch for parking along US - 19 nearby.

Easy to access, beautiful waterfall! Very easy to miss, only about 8 parking spot on the way to Cherokee reservation.

This is a little treacherous to climb down to the observation platform which give a great view of the falls. Truly adventurous can go all the way to the bottom with the aid of guide ropes.

Great stop, parking is not easy but people do not stay super long so if you wait, most likely you’ll get a spot. Worth the minor hassle of parking! Hiking ropes for safety are set up already, it is a steep and slippery climb but with a little patience it was easily done with a 7 year old. All the kids really enjoyed the falls. Would say if you are here for sure check it out.

This is a fall well worth visiting. Trail is Rocky. So make sure your prepared walking rugged paths.

Every time we go this way I want to stop. We did this time and with all the rain that has been in the area it was beautiful. The steps down are a little steep but worth the beauty.

Passed by this 4x before we found it, small sign, limited parking but make the effort, short walk to platform for viewing falls but there are ropes down the mtn side to get to the bottom of the falls, do it! So cool to stand directly in front of the waterfall, Beautiful!

Soco falls is located right off the main highway. Very limited pull-off parking. We visited in April with bare trees and still had to circle back to find a nook or cranny to park our compact car. Then came the trip down to the falls. You get a few feet of handrails and then it hits you; Rocks, slippery leaves, mud, and roots. Grab whatever you can, as you travel on this barely developed pathway. It felt like a military training obstacle course, very short but challenging. The falls were OK but there are better choices in the region. If you are relatively young and driving past, and can find a place to park, then do it. Otherwise go visit the National Park. The photos look better than reality.

This is a few miles outside of Cherokee, and pretty close to Maggie Valley. Curvy road up from Cherokee, the parking area is small. Slight downhill hike down to viewing area, it’s a very short walk. This is definitely worth the effort!

Beautiful double falls between Maggie Valley and Cherokee on 19. Easily missed. Only has a small sign. Short 2-3 min walk to a viewing platform. You can proceed to the bottom of the falls but steep and slippery.

After a day of skiing at Cataloochee we wanted to explore Maggie Valley. This place came up on several lists of things to do so we sought it out. The address here on Trip Advisor puts it in the heart of Maggie Valley but it's more in between Maggie Valley and Cherokee on the main US-19. Very small parking lot, probably accomodates 7 vehicles. A steep path with carved out rock steps leads you down to a wooden vantage point. For the brave and adventurous you can continue down to the bottom of the falls using ropes to guide you. We went after a rain storm so the rocks and ground were slippery and muddy and the ropes were definitely needed.

Small switchback to viewing platform. You can only see half from this angle. Ropes tied to assist climbing to base. Much more difficult, but worth the extra effort if you are able.

My family and I loved this waterfall! It was a little tough for us to find from the main road but once we found it we really enjoyed it. We had our two young children with us and they were able to hike down (with help) and explore. It was beautiful and a fun experience for all of us. It’s a little slippery but they have ropes to help you up and down or you can just view from the platform above.

We drove from Gatlinburg and happened upon the falls. At first I didn't think I could make it down (or back up for that matter), but after looking at the falls I decided to give it a try. Beautiful falls! Make the trip down, they have ropes to assist! And the climb up is easier than the climb down!

These are worth a look, especially if you are able to climb down the hill to the bottom of the falls. It's a bit of a steep climb but there are guide ropes you can hold on to. Parking is on the side of the road and can be a little tricky if there are several cars stopping at the same time. Make sure to take your camera!

The falls are really beautiful with ice cold water. They have a short walk down to a viewing platform, but to get down to the falls you will need to be prepared for a slick and muddy journey. I took my 2 year old and I was a little tired by the time I got back up but i felt like it was worth it

#Soco Falls can be viewed right from the side of the highway, however if you want to feel the cool air from falling waters and get real up close to the very bottom, you will have to climb down, the path is accessible but requires moderate effort. You can easily miss the sign because if you’re not looking for it, you could easily miss the only one sign on the narrow windy highway.

This fall isn't ask that hard to get down the first part. But getting to the very bottom of the fall is really hard. We didn't even try to get to the bottom of the fall bc you hand to scale the rock wall with a rope. Also very limited parking on the side of the road.

Ropes have been strung for hikers to use to climb in and out of the falls area. There is parking for about 8 cars along the road. Use Google maps to find this or you'll drive right by it. There is a viewing platform at the top which has stairs to it. To reach the base of the falls, use the ropes to climb down the muddy path and rocks. Probably not safe for small children.

Nice nature time. Wear good shoes it was slippery from recent rain. Beautiful views with quiet surroundings. A small viewing platform.

We are both over 74 and we made the hike. Trail was steep and not too damp. Easy going down, but remember you have to go back up if you want to go home with your new beautiful photos. The effort is worthwhile. We loved the falls and views from the parking area.

Soco Falls is just a few miles west of the BRP entrance, just outside of Maggie Valley, NC. It only has small signage, about a 1/2 from the pullout, so look diligently for it.
The pull-out is on a curve, with gravel parking for about 10 or so cars. There's a guardrail to prevent going too far. Walk around the right side of the guardrail, and follow the footpath. The footpath is basic and uneven, with no railings for support. The footpath will descend about 70' to a wooden platform, with railings, that will allow you to view the largest of the 2 falls, with unobstructed view. The smaller fall is to the left, and can be reached fairly easy with a short walk, which brings to to the top of the falls.
There is also a trail, that will take you to the bottom of both the small and large fall. However, this trail is somewhat treacherous, and NOT recommended for small children, elderly, or those with physical limitations. It's very uneven, sharply descending, and slippery. There are guide ropes to help keep your balance. Leaving the falls area, the ropes will be necessary to pull yourself back up.
The falls themselves are beautiful, and worth the stop, even for just using the platform.

Great experience! Beautiful view great place, recommendable to visit, nice outdoor experience, you'll love it

We visited here when we are in Maggie valley snow tubing. Its very easy to find and definitely worth the stop. The falls are beautiful. You do have to be careful if you want to go down to the bottom of the falls, they have a rope you can hold to walk down but it's very very slippery. They do have a viewing area above the falls that you can stay at.

This is a great little water falls just off the road. The falls was pretty cool and stuff. No sidewinder or Clodhoppers in the area.
The trails could be a little rough for some.

My husband and I were staying in town for the night and we enjoy waterfalls so we stopped here. It is very close to the road. It is a steep hike but there are ropes to assist with the climb.

Very easy/quick walk to the viewing area. Also can continue on down to the river to splash in the water or follow the path further downstream for more exploring.

We almost missed this feature. The only identification sign is for traffic approaching from Cherokee; none for traffic coming from Maggie Valley or the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our visit was early in the morning and we had the place to ourselves. The pathway down to the observation deck is a little tricky, but don't go down any further than that...not safe. The views from the deck are great and not to be missed. As others have mentioned, parking is limited, and make sure your vehicle is completely in off the road.

There is limited parking and a wooden platform to view the beautiful falls, but getting there is not for the fearful. To go to the bottom of the falls there are guide ropes, but you better be sure footed! In the late afternoon there was a beautiful rainbow in the falls to view from the platform. Worth the effort!

We were looking for something close and quick to do as a family when we were staying in the area and stumbled upon the falls. You park on the side of the road, and if you go at a popular time parking could be tricky. You can actually see the falls from the road, but there's a "path" down to an observation platform where you can get some great pictures. For the more adventurous you can scramble around on the rocks and get right to the falls. We're all very active so this was super-easy for us, and even with a baby in a backpack it was a lot of fun. If you have trouble with steep, unfinished paths you will have trouble. Walkers and canes will not work here, but you can see the falls from the road and see something pretty.

We stopped at Socco Falls after some of the rain we've had in WNC and it gave quite a show - along with lots of ice, as it was winter.
The pull-off from Socco Falls is bad! Very small area that holds only a few cars.
The short hike down to the viewing deck is pretty easy, but probably not great for those with mobility issues, as the dirt path is a slight downhill going down, so coming back up would be tougher.
The falls are a good place to stop hen going from Cherokee to Maggie Valley or if your on the Southern End of the BRP, as it's maybe a mile or less from the BRP. There is a Socco Gap Overlook on the BRP, but when we went thru the parking lot - probably required some hike / walk to a vantage point to "possibly" see the falls from up high. Not sure if that is possible.

Beautiful falls and short hike! Has steps and hike downhill short way! Pretty and beautiful these twin falls!

Beautiful falls, but a bit short on parking. The road to these falls is very curvy, so slow down when you get near, or you'll pass up the parking lot.

Beautiful falls with minimal hike ...its a bit challenging for anyone who can't do steep to get all the way down to base but there's a middle spot that you can look at it.

When you arrive and park your car it feels like its no big deal, but as you hike down to waterfall your in for a nice surprise as its really a peachy place to see and visit, take no time at all for a wonderful opportunity for wonderful photos so bring the family and enjoy this quick and easy place to see !!!

Parking is right at the top on the side of the road. Pretty easy walk to a landing and thn to get closer to the falls you can take a jaunt using a rope to guide.

We visited Soco Falls about 10 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. This time we were passing through Cherokee on our way to Maggie Valley and I remembered Soco Falls as we were winding through on US19 and decided to make a quick stop to check it out again.
Quick 5 minute hike down to the viewing platform or take an extra 5 minutes to wander down a second trail to reach the bottom of the Falls. Either way it's still a great display of Mother Nature's beauty.

Definitely worth the trip to see. Climbing down the hill is a bit treacherous for older people and wouldn't recommend it. You park on the side of the road walk down the first set of "stairs" and that allows you to view the fall from the top. A second set of "stairs" takes you to the bottom. Be careful, bring a good pair of shoes for climbing and your camera. It's worth it!

So worth a trip to see these falls. You can walk down to with a few steps to a platform that you can see the falls or descend down to the falls through a steep walk that has some ropes to help you get throughout the very steep steps. Once you are down you can take an amazing picture of the falls. Parking is very limited and careful because if you park head in you might need help to back up since the parking is on a curve.

Just extraordinary!!! Very relaxing and exciting. Watch out for slippery areas. Picture perfect area.

Short walk with ropes to manage the rocky approach. Car park small. Pretty falls. Had to turn around to approach car park on right side.

Short hike, but steep and large stepdowns with ropes near bottom to assist. Falls are small, but were flowing well.

This a beautiful waterfall and is right along the road side. Parking space is limited and you have to walk down to the platform to view the falls.

Nice short walk to the falls, but they are a little steep for those that are disabled. These beautiful falls are right on highway 19 between Maggie Valley and Bryson. There was no sign going towards Bryson do I had to turn around and the sign going toward Maggie was on the far side of the parking lot. Well worth the stop!

Tiny parking area carved off the mountain road with no real signage (tiny signs that are easy to miss). Steep decline into gorgeousness! We made it down and back up with 5 kids, 3-12 years old.

The falls are very close to Maggie valley and relatively easy to get to without having to hike far. There is also a little bit of parking. A beautiful spot for a photo!

This is NOT located on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is off the parkway on a road that intersected the parkway called Soco road (aka SR 19 or Wolfetowne road). There is parking right on the edge of this road but the parking is very limited. There is a pullout that fits maybe 10 cars along the side of the road that the falls are on. There are at least 2 ways or levels from which you can see the falls. You proceed down a narrow path leading down to a platform that allows you to see the falls from below the road with a good view of the river and the falls. This path is a narrow dirt path that can be a little tricky but leads to a wooden platform where you can relax, take pictures and enjoy the view. The adventurous can continue down the really steep part that had several ropes to allow the visitors to traverse this part. It is one of the hardest hikes I have ever been on to see any falls in the United States. It is a very nice view from the bottom by the river. Remember that you still have to get back up to get to your car. Overall, I would recommend this set of falls for anyone wanting a pretty view and a unique challenge. Be careful and enjoy!

Hidden Gem of Falls in GSMNP - probably the shortest hike in the park to get to a big payoff. This dual falls route is short, pretty rocky and somewhat steep but only take a few minutes to get to. Parking is a little limited but there are a few pulloffs on the way. Be careful if you head to the lower viewing area, its slick but there is a rope to hold onto. Good view from above as well from the platform. But the real deal is to head to the bottom and take in the view from below. Get some mist on you and hear natures power.

Really a beautifall waterfall. To access the viewing deck you must be very careful. To go further is a potential falling hazard. Young or very fit persons are more suited to this in my opinion.

I was with my family (2 kids and pup). We only hiked down to the platform, but you could go all the way to the bottom. I read the official description that stated how the path could be steep, muddy, and unstable, but I saw several folks walk down without trouble. It would have been nice to have a longer hike to get there :)

Found this through Trip Advisor when we were planning our trip to Maggie Valley. Great spot for a little exploring. My oldest loved hiking down to the falls. Very peaceful.

We visited with my family and nephews (10 and 13). I would not recommend flip flops, definitely some type of sneakers or water shoes. It was absolutely beautiful, but be careful. Someone slipped and fell because they were not cautious. We really enjoyed the view and got some wonderful pictures.

The falls are very pretty. Warning: there is no sign for Soco Falls, just a small pull off on the road. You have to know exactly where you're going. The trail to the falls is not long, but it is a bit rough, and you may think it is a goat path in some places. There is a small observation deck with a good view of the falls.

Soco Falls is a wonderful spot with two rivers merging to make the Falls. We stopped along the road and it was worth the stop. I would not take young children down because there is only a rope with no real guard rails even though the observation platform is top notch.

Just a short hike, not too taxing. Falls were top-notch due to all of the recent rain. Well worth the stop.

Great little hike to the falls. There are nice steps to a platform, but you will need hiking shoes if you want to go to the bottom. Just a small amount of parking on the side of the road.

This is a popular sight so you likely will encounter numerous cars stopped along the roadside parking area. But don't bypass it. The walk to the observation platform is not difficult. The falls and scenery are outstanding. If you proceed on down to the stream, use care. Wear secure shoes because it is slippery.

These falls were easy to find with my Apple maps. There are small road signs near the parking area to point it out if you need. From other reviews i had the impression the viewing deck was right at the parking area; however it is halfway down the hill to the falls. Parking is limited and the trail from the viewing deck down looks to be interesting. You can see the falls slightly from the road, and you can see them well from the viewing deck. Free to enter, lots of trash receptacles, didn't see any restrooms.

We visited with our 3 kids. 11 years & 2 year old twins. My husband & son went all the way down to the base while we waited & watched from above. We all enjoyed it! Going down was easy but a little harder coming back up. Lol!

These falls were gorgeous and well worth the effort to see them. That being said, I only rated this with 4 stars because it is not something for everyone. It takes some strength and stamina to climb down using guide ropes during some spots. Rocks and mud can be slippery. At one point we were even using tree roots as a handhold. There was even a memorial down at the bottom 😬 being aware of that, once you do get down there, the falls are amazingly beautiful!

Don't blink or you'll miss the parking spot. Worth the short walk down the steep trail to see the twin falls. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes. Would be dangerous for those that don't have strong sturdy footing.

Great falls! We went when it was raining a little which made things a little muddy and slick. But the kids loved seeing the falls. Parking is a little hard and not much room for parking but so worth it

Soco Falls is located right off of Hwy 23, between Cherokee and Maggie Valley. A small hike down to the bottom - with a viewing platform mid-way, and also a trail that follows the stream. Great place for photos and a break.

Nice falls and not too bad to reach viewing deck. Very busy though and very muddy and challenging if you plan to go all the way to the bottom.

Beautiful waterfall...fairly easy walk to viewing deck....not so easy to go to the bottom of the falls, but worth it..Someone very nice person or people have put ropes along the trail to the bottom and they helped alot..I don't think I would have tried it without the ropes.

The views are breath taking. The trees and foliage are absolutely beautiful while changing to fall colors. The red fern was so pretty.Anyone in this area should take the time to visit this area.Lots to do and lots of Motels with a creek view.

Access to walkway to the falls is at a pull off on the highway. Lots of stairs, not for the elderly or unsteady.

Wow! What a great discovery! Absolutely beautiful and worth the hike down to the base of the falls! A must see! Be aware the path is rugged, well worn and no handrails but there is a rope to hang on to. However, there is a deck viewing for those not able or willing to hike to the base of the falls.

Right off the road and another post saying parking is a small area is 100 percent correct. Worth the stop if you like waterfalls. Thanks to someone who put up a rope to hold on too, it's not bad to the bottom. If you don't want to brave that, there is an easy observation deck not hard to get too. We were glad we stopped.

Soco Falls was just a short hike from the main road. Less than 5 minutes. The trail is steep but in decent condition. It leads to a viewing platform or for the more adventures you can go down to the base of the fall. The ropes someone put up are a great help and if you can I recommend going to the bottom. The parking lot is very small and easy to miss.

Beautiful waterfalls just outside of Cherokee! Short walk to observation deck. My 7 and 11 year old along with my mom and dad in their mid 60s had no problem getting to the falls! Worth the visit!!

Along with Dry Falls, this was our other favorite falls in the area. Short hike to the observation deck. If you are feeling adventurous, you can make your way down to the base where the two falls meet using the ropes provided. Not easy but doable. A hiking pole and good boots help a lot.

Parking is limited and the short trip down is steep. However, worth it! A must see when visiting the area.

Beautiful falls! Short walk but had steps up steep section. As an old guy, had to pause for pictures for a brief rest. Trees were beautiful in the Fall. Drove to nearby Oconaluftee Visitor’s Center where we watched Elk strolling around each evening. Magnificent animals.

Very beautiful place, worth it, you can hear it from the parking lot but, the parking is very small, it's a pull off. Theirs a rope to help you get down and back up, so it's very steep. Be advised, if you have small children, you'll have to help them.

Beautiful waterfall! These falls are not difficult to reach. There is a viewing platform 1/2 way down which is great for people who might not be physically able to descend to the base of the falls. If you are able to do so, it's incredible! You can actually get close enough to feel the spray from the falls. Being able to see both of the falls at the same time is impressive. It is very helpful that ropes are lining the trail which helps in your return trip back up the trail.

It is about 12 miles from Cherokee town on 19. Waterfall is marked but be careful One can easily miss it. Short but Steep way to go down to see the waterfall One can view from the observation bench also but walking along the river is a different thrill

We came here three years ago and the twins were too young to hike down to the bottom of falls but this time they made it! Absolutely beautiful scenary.

I would have gave it 5 stars but to get to bottom it takes a lot of effort. Beautiful falls! Parking is limited, right next to road. Hiking ropes to let yourself down and up to get to bottom. There is a wooden platform to get a great view of falls, easy walk. Short.

This waterfall is breathtaking any time of the year you go there. The path down is a little rough, but so worth it.

Wonderful, easily accessible. Small climb is so worth the trip! Im traveling thru Carolinas and trying to see as many falls as possible, and this is one of my favorites

Very short but steep hike to the bottom to see this double waterfall. Plenty of picture opportunities. Be sure to explore both upstream and downstream of the falls.
Be sure to slow down when you get close or you will miss this pull off.

I really loved seeing this fall! It is steep and not for those who can’t go up and down stairs well or have balance issues. Halfway point isn’t bad but getting down to the bottom is very steep and very slippery and muddy after a rain! I would definitely not recommend that climb for those who can’t climb well, have balance issues, any injuries, or for little kids! My 6 year old had trouble holding onto the ropes and slipped a lot and we needed to hold his hand constantly so he wouldn’t fall down the path. It is beautiful at the bottom though!!

If you're in the Maggie Valley area this is a must see. After the recent rains the water was really flowing. If you don't get around easily, this would be a difficult place to access with the steep path down to it. I noticed an elderly couple arriving when I was leaving and the lady was wearing flip flops (a recipe for disaster) They have a great viewing platform, but be careful trying to get into the small gravel parking area because it is right on the road and people are flying down the highway.

The falls were pretty and we enjoyed. Although, it would be nice if people would respect and not liter.

Soco falls is located right off of the road between Maggie Valley and Cherokee. You literally pull off of the road and walk down.
It is not an extremely easy climb to the viewing platform, but it’s not super hard either. You definitely need to be careful as it is steep and I would think most of the time it is wet.
I did it with an ankle injury and I am very overweight. I did have wife to help me. I would not do this alone. Once at the viewing platform you can down to the bottom of the falls. My wife and 18 year old did it. You have to use ropes. I think it looks dangerous but many people did it.
The parking is on the side of a mountain road. If it is full you will have to drive a ways to turn around and come back to check for a spot.
It is really beautiful and worth all of this though. I would recommend it.

For someone with any type of stability issues (I have a knee that sometimes goes out of whack) this probably isn’t for you. There are no true steps. There are two hand made rounded off, bumpy step things that lead to a steep path. With my knee issue I have trouble going down. My friend went and said it was really pretty and worth the trek down. There are ropes to assist on the way down.

This is a great view of a beautiful waterfall. Parking is a premium and use caution when pulling to the side of the road. If you can walk down the side of a mountain, you are good to go. Not recommended for people with disabilities or elderly. The walk is not far to see nature's beauty. When you get to the deck down below, you will see what we mean in natural beauty.

Little tough to find if you're not paying attention. Tough short climb down to an observation deck that affords great views and photo opportunities.

This is a double waterfall located right off the highway between Cherokee and Maggie Valley. It is a short, but somewhat precarious walk down a path to the viewing area (fine for most but would be difficult for the elderly or anyone with limited mobility). You can also walk (climb?) down further to the base of the falls. The view at the bottom is gorgeous, but it is much more difficult terrain to navigate. There are ropes in place to help you climb, but I would definitely recommend suitable shoes (not flip flops).
First picture is the view from the viewing deck, second picture is the view from the base of the falls.

Small waterfall reached by taking slippery, rocky downslope. A viewing platform has been constructed. Seen better waterfalls.

While this place is easy to drive past and it doesn't offer the best in parking the short hike is well rewarded and the falls are beautiful.

Worth checking out. The area is beautiful. Parking is small. Nice viewing deck and if you are more adventurous you can climb all the way down. Kids loved it!

This is a beautiful double waterfall. There is a viewing platform or you can do a short, steep hike/climb down to the falls for the adventurous. There are ropes at one section to help on the way down or up. I recommend proper hiking shoes as it could be slick in areas. If you are able, it is definitely work the journey down to the bottom. Parking is very limited, especially on the weekends.

This was our second visit here. The recent rains gave us an even more grand spectacle. It appears the sign coming from the Maggie Valley sign is still not there. If you don’t know where the small pull off is you will miss it. If you do you have a ways to go to turn around but the sign is up coming from Cherokee. It is a very short walk to a viewing platform. If you are adventurous you can hike to the base of the falls although I didn’t. I am unsure who maintains these falls but the very first part of the accent needs attention. The steps are a bit skewed and the slope if you avoid the steps is not great . After you get passed this 6 feet area it’s much better. This would be a great scout project. The falls are actually 2 creeks that merge together. It’s a beautiful stop and I would highly recommend it since the walk is so short.

Small parking lot. Easy to walk to observation deck for viewing. A little more treacherous to access the bottom, via ropes and rocks. We stopped short of the bottom as it was a very cold January day, muddy, slick and then icy at the bottom. Please use caution if you go to the bottom. We saw a couple ahead of us with dress shoes on and she was toting a huge fashionable purse on her arm. They seemed ok, but it looked unwise for the situation.

Free and beautiful. The earlier you go the better. Parking is limited and on a well traveled road but if your not looking for it, is easy to miss.

Absolutely gorgeous
Could have spent the whole day there. Photography buffs get your gear ready to shoot this one

This fall is so beautiful and is easily accessible to get to. It is not a long hike and steps are provided all the way down to the fall. You can take beautiful pictures and meet people on the way down and the way back up! It is well worth the stop!!

Driving through Maggie Valley came upon Soco Falls. Beautiful falls that takes a little work to get to. You need to be able to hold onto a rope line as you climb down a small incline. Coming back up seems easier, but you might feel a little out of breath.

If your are adventurous and part mountain goat this is a must see. The view from the upper platform was good enough for us. There is access to the bottom of the falls and there are ropes strung to help you climb up and down

The car park is very small and located on the uphill road from Cherokee to Maggie Valley. The walking track is steep and requires good shoes and footing. Above the falls there is a platform to view and take photos. The meeting of larger and smaller waterways the falls are very beautiful. You can get to to bottom via ropes on a steeper descent which I did not attempt.

Beautiful waterfall. We went the end of February when all the snow was melting so the falls was full of water! Beautiful! Requires hiking boots if you plan to go down to the bottom. The overlook is great but if you go to the bottom there are ropes to hold onto. Very slick due to water spray hitting the ground.

From what we saw, about 50% of visitors don't hike down and of the 50% that do, only aboutv5% hike downstream. Be adventurous and take an extra 30 minutes to hike downstream and away from the crowd, you'll be glad you did.

Worth the drive here following visit to Cherokee museum and arts and crafts gallery. Be advised - parking is limited and in deep curve of a steep road, dirt path to falls is even steeper downhill. Positive note: After the possibly treacherous, but brief trek down - there's a very nice viewing deck with perfect view of the falls. For the more adventurous who are wearing hiking shoes or footwear with traction - there is a clever rope-guided descent (approximately 75-yards) to base of Soco Falls. Hikers with small children or anyone with ankle, knee, or hip issues should proceed with care.

Have been to Soco Falls several times as we are part-timers in the area. I’m a little older (67) and out of shape😳. We were on our way to Cherokee for an afternoon drive to relax after working several days at a disaster relief center post Helene. Decided to pull off to view the falls. Was absolutely gorgeous, full roaring falls with some fall color showing. The path is a little steep, there are some tree roots to climb over but doable, at least to the viewing deck. Did not attempt the path with rope “handrail” to the bottom. FYI-there are plans in the near future to have a new parking, walkway and viewing area per an article in the Cherokee newspaper. There is actually a sign board around the corner towards Maggie Valley showing this.

5/15/19 Been coming to Maggie Valley and Cherokee since my twenties. Never knew this fall was here. I know we have driven by it a 100 times. But today we saw it. It was magnificent.
Steps was steep but God granted me a beautiful scenery. It was peaceful and I could have stayed for hours. Thank you Lord for all you have given us to enjoy!
Please stop and see it is worth the stop.

We were in Maggie Valley for a long weekend and asked about places to see at the excellent Maggie Valley Visitors Center. The gentleman there gave us directions to Soco Falls, explaining that there were actually two waterfalls that come together. An 800 foot hike down a somewhat steep trail got us there. The falls are lovely and well worth the effort.
HINT From Maggie Valley Soco Falls are not well marked on the road. You cross under the Blue Ridge Parkway and go 1.5 miles. There is a gravel parking lot on your left with a high chain link fence.

Visit Maggie Valley and u have to go to see our famous waterfall. Pretty good hike down to get the best view of the falls buts it's neat even half way down. Great scenery on the way. Only a few minutes out of the valley. Must see. Great for photos and videos.

Very dangerous going down and up. Part of the trail tot he falls has been washed out leaving you about a foot of dirt path to step on.
No handrails or guardrails. If you fall you will probably not survive. It is a dirt path with roots and rock you have to navigate. The viewing platform has a broken board, obviously not being maintained.
Whoever is in charge would do well to make it easier and safer to get to the viewing platform.

This waterfall is right off the road and is worth the stop!! There were not many people there which was very nice. There is a small parking area with a walkway to an overlook. We went right down to the base of the falls and it was amazing. The climb down is made easier with ropes and is not too difficult to manage. My teenagers and I really enjoyed it.

A Beautiful waterfall ! It is close to the road and short distance to over look deck. Watch out for the signs or you will miss it .

Extremely satisfied that this was the first waterfall that I got to experience. It is beyond beautiful, and anyone who visits Maggie valley, I highly recommend visiting soco falls!

Easy to access from the road, at least to get to viewing platform. Tall waterfall, and you can climb down the steep bank using a fixed rope to get to the water. Limited parking.

Beautiful water fall that comes with a challenging path of access. If you have mobility issues or are afraid of heights it's probably best not to go all the way down. But you can enjoy the view from the deck when you get about 1/3 of the way there. Parking lot has limited spots.

You need to carefully work your way down to the bottom along the ropes to get the best view. For those whomdon't want to risk it, there is an upper viewing area.

Always a must stop. Been going to this area since I've been a kid. It never gets old. Always love to see it!

Just a short drive outside of Maggie Valley and worth it to see this beautiful waterfall. It's not well marked - in fact we missed it the first time. The walk down to the waterfall observation deck is short but rocky. A must see

Absolutely beautiful a must see if you are in the area. My wife and I were there for our anniversary.

2 falls come together in an absolutely beautiful and peaceful setting. You can walk to the bottom of the falls and even climb part way up the falls on the other side. There are ropes to help you get up and down, or you can walk among the rocks to go up & down. It is a shaded area, quiet and not at all crowded. There is very little parking, but we were able to find a spot both time we visited in early August. The kids loved it. Wear shoes for climbing, or shoes that are sturdy and you don't mind getting wet. It can be muddy.

The parking is right off the road with not a lot of parking . It wasn’t too busy & we were able to park without a problem. The trail to the platform was easy but people with balance issues might not want to go. From the platform down to the falls was a little trickier. It was very rocky & had to use the ropes to help you along. The falls were pretty & very rocky once you got yo the bottom as well but I think it was worth it. Wear good shoes & have both hands free for climbing back up.

We didn’t realize this waterfall was twelve stories down a steep trail. The sign at the top said it was an easy family hike. That might be true if you are 30 years old with children, but with grandparents along, it is not easy.

This beautiful and free twin 100 foot waterfall is as high and as scenic as most of the falls within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is also much easier to reach than Ramsey Cascades, Hen Wallow, Abrams, or even Indian Creek and the others that are better known because of their location. The only falls within the park that are as easy to access in fact are the place of a thousand drips along the motor nature trail and the sinks which are located right on the road between the Sugarlands visitor center and Cades Cove. There is a dirt parking lot with room for about two dozen cars and a fence to keep the cars out of the creek on the downhill side of highway 19 as you climbing up out of Cherokee towards Soco Gap, the Quallah boundary and the Blue Ridge parkway. If you are coming from Maggie Valley or the parkway, please continue on to Cherokee, find a safe place to turn around, and then retrace your route to the falls. They are beautiful, but not worth getting in an accident turning left over a double yellow line on a blind curve. If you are in a low clearance car, you also want to go slow over the edge of the pavement to the parking area. Once you are safely parked, you can glance through the fence at the falls below. The short (150 yards or so) steep walk is a dirt path with several steps. However, there are no steps are handrail where it is needed most- the first ten feet from the edge of of the fence to the sharp right turn to the overlook. If you are not completely mobile, enjoy the view from the fence and do not attempt the trail. If a knee gives out there is nothing to stop you from sliding down the hill and into the creek right at the top of the falls. It was very slick on a December afternoon but we made to the viewing platform and got some spectacular pictures. There is a crude trail from the edge of the platform to the very edge of the falls and on down to the creek at the base, but travel at your own risk. With snow on the ground we did not attempt it. Nearest rest rooms are in Cherokee or Maggie Valley. If you have time, also plan to visit Mingo Falls near Cherokee. They are also free. involve only a short (1/4 mile) hike, and at more than 200 feet are taller than anything in the national park.

This waterfall is not far off the Blue Ridge Parkway on US Rt. 19 going into Cherokee. In fact, it is just a little inside the Cherokee Indian Reservation. I did not find the signing to be very good but figured the pull-off beside the road (on the left) and the cars parked there was the spot. It was. It's a short and steep trail down to a wooden viewing platform. We got a good view of the falls here. I can't say the falls are that spectacular. If you didn't get to see it, I would say you weren't missing much.

These falls surprised me. They were the largest we had seen here. There are steps going down to a platform to view them. The water was up when we were there so that may have made a difference.

Don't let the fact that this is a short trail fool you! It's beautiful but it's steep. Be sure to wear shoes with good tread.

The parking for this is just on the bend of the road. And not a lot of parking space but enough. You can hear the waterfall from the parking lot but and it is only a 5 minute walk down to a viewing boardwalk to see it. If you want to be more adventurous then you can walk to the bottom - there's a couple of ropes to help you get down and back up, as it is quite steep if again not too long. Worth a 15 minute stop.

Not too bad of trek down to see the falls. I found the use of the ropes very helpful. My husband made it all the way to the bottom, but I did not. But from my perch, I had a beautiful view of the falls. Making our way back up to the overlook, we both a great view of the falls and of course a picture of us with the falls in the background taken by a very kind person.

We were in the MV area for a few days and made our way up 19 (10 min) to Soco falls. The GPS was quite accurate. It is (if you are traveling uphill) a small pull off on the left. After a few stairs and climb, the view from the platform is amazing (due to the abundant rain this summer). It is possibly the most beautiful waterfall with the least hiking effort.

Twin waterfalls depending on amount of recent rain!
Intermediate slippery
Short Hike down more strenuous back up.
Limited parking along highway be careful exiting your vehicle.

This was a very scenic twin waterfall located near Cherokee NC, a little over an hour's drive from Asheville. There's limited parking alongside the road and then it's a short hike down to the falls. That's the good news. The bad news is that it's a steep one. There are ropes in place you can grab onto but you'll still have to negotiate jagged rocks and potentially muddy slopes.
There were lots of visitors when my 7 year old and I visited. If you're wondering, the only people wearing face masks happened to have white or gray hair, so take that into consideration if it's important to you. Social distancing will be non-existent. Expect to cross paths in tight quarters with multiple strangers, even groups.
You can get a pretty good view of the falls by descending some steps down to the viewing platform. Many people choose to go even further down and this is where problems present themselves. Depending on your physical fitness and mobility there are certain groups of people that should absolutely avoid the potentially dangerous hike down.
- overweight: I would think twice unless you have strong upper body strength and adequate endurance. I observed several huffing and puffing for air while climbing up which is much more difficult than the climb down.
- elderly or frail: Why would you risk it? I encountered an old woman who reached the top in severe pain after fracturing her toe somewhere near the bottom.
- too young: My 7 year old was able to hike down there but getting back up was a little more challenging as she could barely reach the rope on a couple of occasions.
- just generally out of shape: If you can do a pull up, you should be fine. If, however, you're unable to support your body weight with your arms the climb up will prove difficult.
I would absolutely avoid hiking to the bottom of Soco Falls if it's raining. There are just too many muddy slopes and slippery rocks just waiting to send someone to the ER. There were a bunch of mostly younger people and millennials crawling all over the rocks in the name of selfies and instagram. One guy nearly slipped from the very top of the falls to his death. My advice is to enjoy the falls but do it responsibly. Mingo Falls is a much easier hike and about a half hour away. You just have to walk up a lot of stairs.

We parked at the poorly marked parking lot and discovered a steep, slick and poorly maintained trail down to the falls. The falls are beautiful, but the path down is quite treacherous in places. The path has obviously not been maintained lately, so please proceed with caution.

Its a short kind of steep hike down. There is a viewing platform which is all that was open the day we went they had roped off the path that would take you closer Im not sure why but even from the platform its nice. Lots of water the day we went it had rained a couple days before we arrived so we had a good amount of water. You will if coming in from Cherokee see a little blue sign on the right hand side and about 1/2 mile you will see a pull out you will know you are in the right place when you get out and can hear the waterfall and see a fence. It good for a quick stop, if its busy you might have a hard time finding a parking space.

A beautiful waterfall easily viewed just off the road. The descent is steep, but very doable, to a viewing platform about half way down to the base of the falls. A rope is available to aid in the descent to the base of the falls, but the last half is very steep and slippery.

A little tricky to get down all the way to the bottom.
Think ropes tied to trees to assist. Done easily by the young but a little more cumbersome for the non hiker
But there is a nice overlook a little ways down,
Go there and chose for yourself what’s best

Google search will take you to the small parking area. Curvy road be careful.
lots of rain made the climb treacherous but some good Samaratin left rope strategically placed to help. Bring a strong stick to slow your decent.

It’s a bit tricky finding the parking along the side of the road but the cluster of cars was the key. The walk down to the viewing platform is a bit steep and rocky. I would call it is tricky and not for anyone with balance issues. The viewing platform is very nice and you can see the impressive falls clearly. We didn’t venture any further down as it was steep and we didn’t feel comfortable trying it when you had such a nice view from the platform. Going back up was also a challenge. It’s not the best trail but ok if you go slow and grab a tree every now and then.

Beautiful from the viewing platform. Worth the climb down if you're up to it. Very picturesque. To make the climb down easier, take the trail to your left at the end of the guard rail. Then double back right at the stream. The rest of the descent has ropes to assist you.

The falls are just a hop, skip and a jump off sico rd..beautiful any time if year. great little deck perfect for photos of the falls, as well as family and friends..a memory maker for sure.

The falls are beautiful but the walk down the trail is very treacherous. Not for anyone that has balance issues for sure.

Short hike downhill to see the falls that are nestled in the woods and they were beautiful! Would happily go back to visit them!

Soco Falls is a hidden treasure right off the highway, west of Maggie Valley. Traveling from Maggie to Cherokee, it is located on the left and is not very well identified. Small parking area is only clue it exists. From the parking lot a short, but somewhat treacherous hick down to the falls is rewarded by a beautiful and unique dual water fall.

I did the hike by myself with 8 and 10 year old boys. Small children and elderly will not be able to get down to the falls; very steep and rocky with ice and mud during winter. You can see the falls from the parking area!

Absolutely gorgeous fall. Easy to find and not crowded. Challenging course if you would like to climb down to the bottom of the fall.

The best place to be too see the best of this fall is to make your way to the bottom, but to get to the bottom you have to be able to navigate the climb with the rocks but it can be done. You have to park beside the road.

While staying in Maggie my wife and I decided to head to Soco falls. Be ready to pull of the road into a small area with guard rails obstructing the view of the trail. Just letting you know so you dont miss it (we drove right by and had to turn around). The trail down is very short but steep and slippery. There are two trails I took the longer trail due to bad knees. Anyhow, the falls are gorgeous. We stayed for awhile and marveled at the scenery. Take the time to stop at this...its easy access and you can be at the bottom of the falls in 5 minutes....

We visited Soco Falls at the end of June and the temp was amazing. Its a hidden gem, you can't see it off the side of the road, just tucked away between the trees. The hike down to the falls was so pretty and they had ropes to help you down. I would not suggest wearing flip flops, it can be a bit slippery. The water was so crisp felling. I loved it!

Beautiful stop on your way passing through. Well worth the 20-30 minutes it will take for your visit. Its a very short, albeit slightly challenging walk, to the wooden platform and overlook. Falls were beautiful and the sound soothing. Hidden gem right off the main throughfare.

The hike was short, but steep to get to the waterfall. We meet some people there and they said you could walk along beside of the river once you made it to the bottom of the trail. There is also an overlook that you can go to that is not as bad, but if you want to go to the bottom just make sure you wear some shoes with good tread. The waterfall was impressive and I enjoyed this one a little more than Mingo Falls which is about 30 minutes away.

This waterfall is spectacular. It is literally right off the road and is a double waterfall. There are steep steps. Parking lot is small. Treacherous if you go off the trail to get to the base of the falls. View from decking is phenomenal. Highly recommend but hold on to young children and if you aren’t in good physical condition do NOT attempt to get to the base of the falls.

Is not a boring walk, it has a bit of adventure to get to the falls view. We went with teen kids and all was excited to go.

Soco Falls is a beautiful double waterfall just outside Maggie Valley. It is about 6 miles from Maggie Valley. GPS does find it. Driving on US 19 toward Cherokee the parking lot for the Falls is about 2 miles after the Blue Ridge Parkway. The parking area is on the left side of road. No signage - be alert for only parking area on left after Parkway. There is a short path to the viewing platform. Then two paths to the bottom of the Falls. The left path is less steep and then is a path of huge flat boulders on the edge of the Creek. The other path is steep with ropes to hang on to so more strenuous. The view from the bottom gives better views of the two waterfalls tumbling into the creek below. Hard to see the waterfall on the left from viewing platform. Plus tree foliage blocks views of the falls. On the return to the top we took the steeper rope trail holding on to the ropes to make the climb. umm forgot to use the easier trail. For more adventuresome people a path follows along the creek.

This is a beautiful waterfall but a little hard to find from the road. We were looking for a sign or a parking lot and drove right past it. It's just a pull off on the side of the road. Very easy hike to the platform. A little more challenging to get to the bottom of the falls but the rope helps. Wear tennis shoes or hiking boots. It was busy when we were there and a little difficult to get a picture without other people in the way. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

quick find on gps
easy hike, 10-15 min down steps then on actual ground with rope guidance. we went during christmas time. we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

This one is a tricky hike down, especially if you want to see both of the falls and walk all the way down to the bottom of the falls. Use your gps to find the falls otherwise you may miss it when driving there (used my google maps and found it easily). We were able to hike down with our five year old, a little muddy but SO worth the hike. It was a challenge down and a challenge up. If you just go to the observation desk it’s still beautiful and not so hard. Another BEAUTIFUL natural landscape.

Beautiful Falls near Maggie Valley. Parking on side of road can be very busy during the day. We went in the evening and had the place to ourselves.

The waterfalls were beautiful. It isn't an easy climb down to view it from the river, but doable if you have the proper footwear and are a sure footed, fairly fit individual. There is a viewing area above for those unable to climb down. The climb to the bottom is more dodgy after a rain, which is when we did it. It can be very slippery and muddy. Be sure and use the ropes, and have three points of contact at all times. Hold the rope with both hands, and be sure to slide your hands and not go hand over hand. If you are able, the river view is quite lovely.

The falls are beautiful. I only went to the little platform they have to view from above. I didn’t think I’d make it back up if I had walked to the bottom. The path way could be better but it’s a natural landmark so I guess that’s why it’s like that. Worth the little hike down just be careful coming back up! 💦

It was a nice fall to view and didn’t have to hike very far to see it. Be aware though of limited parking. Had no problems finding using Waze GPS

SO GLAD WE FOUND THIS!! Today was busy with tourists, even among C19, but still able to enjoy. There is a boarded viewing area and a roped path (can be slippery) to see the falls OR you can take the path to the left following the stream to the falls. I was able to get to the bottom - it was FANTASTIC!!

Short trek down some steps/rocks. Wear shoes with tread. As you get towards the bottom, there are some ropes for you to hold on to to get to the falls. This trip could be hard to navigate if you have knee or ankle issues. There is a viewing platform halfway down if you can't make it to the bottom of the falls.

Just off the highway, Soco Falls is such a gem and worth the stop. It's a tough climb down and back up, but totally worth it for the experience of being that close to the falls.

I really wouldn't even call this a hike. It was just a small pull off along the road and a short path down to a deck overlooking the waterfall. If you don't want to hike miles to see a really pretty waterfall, this one is great! The path is a bit steep at one point, but easily doable for all ages.
We came from Maggie Valley and didn't see any signs for Soco Falls, but we did see a pull off on the opposite side of the road. We passed it and then turned around at the next drive, there was a sign after we turned around (heading back toward Maggie Valley) for Soco Falls, so I think they just don't want people crossing traffic to get to the pull over.

Very pretty falls, even in the snow. It has a nice observation deck but the area was pretty muddy. They need a little better signage.

More like a pit stop/after thought. Blink and you’ll pass it. Parking is tiny and dangerous just off the road. Steep descend to a decent wooden walkway to watch the two falls combine. Some older folks were challenged climbing back up. Overall hike is barely .2 mi. Worth the view though. Glad I stopped

I've passed by a hundred times and haven't stopped. I did this time and was amazed. It's about 2 minutes hike off the road and one of the most beautiful falls around. It's a nice easy walk too. There is an observation deck to view, or you can go down to the bottom for close up pictures. Very good.

Waterfall is right off the road. Has a fairly easy walk down to an observation deck. If you adventure down to the waterfall, there are ropes to help you pull yourself back up. Google maps lead us there.

we were in Maggie Valley for Skiing and had an hour to kill. Thanks to Trip Advisor, found this place as a highly rated destination. Soco Falls is about 10 minutes from Maggie Valley. The location is very tricky, there was no sign for Soco Falls coming from Maggie Valley, we missed it and went past it and while coming back, we did see the signs for the falls.
Parking is very limited (spots for about 10 cars), it is just road side parking. For a Saturday afternoon, we got very lucky to get a spot, lot of others had to park slightly further away (just road side) and walk along the road (not very safe).
This is the shortest hike I ever took for such beautiful water falls. About 2 minutes walk to get to the viewing deck and about 2 more minutes to walk to the water falls landing area. You can walk few more minutes down, but we did not venture there.
The waterfalls were very pretty, good flow of water, white froth against the backdrop of dark black stones was beautiful. Also there was ice around the water falls (visited on 30th Dec) that looked very pretty. If you are in Maggie Valley, you should not miss it.

It’s almost hard to miss as it is just a pull off not a designated parking lot. There is a viewing deck and you can work your way on down for a better view. However, it is a more difficult and requires some climbing up and down steep rocks.

Beautiful waterfall but it isn't an easy climb down or up to see. They have a rope to hang on to, but it is very slack. It's worth it though

This is a pretty waterfall of where two come together! We really enjoyed hiking to it. There are some steep parts towards the start but it’s not too bad. Also note it is a short hike.

So glad we did it! Ropes helped me and a nice young man, to get to the bottom. Going back up was an easier climb. There is a platform to go partway if you want.

I had a hard time finding the falls at first. It's off of 19 between Maggie Valley & Cherokee. There is only spots for a few cars & it's very busy on weekends, had to pass by on Saturday when I went. It's a very steep, rustic, short way down with no hand rails to hang on to. But it is a beautiful view!

My family with young kids were visiting the Maggie Valley area and Soco Falls was recommended for an easy waterfall visit (since the 3 year old in our group wasn't up for long hikes). Soco Falls is right off of the highway - just steps away from the winding road, only a few stairs down. Fair warning, though - this mini hike is NOT for those who can't handle slippery rocks and muddy trails. The kids loved that they had to use ropes to walk down the steep path but it was a little treacherous for the youngest in our group. It's a great adventure but be ready to use your hands and knees (and don't go right after a mountain rain unless you want to get dirty!).

Worth the easy hike and the kids had so much fun! Great pictures at the end of the hike and the falls are beautiful!

This was the highlight of our trip. The trail down is a little steep in certain parts but worth the trek down and the climb back up. Several gorgeous views. This is a definite must see. If you have children under 5, I probably wouldn't recommend it.

We happened to see the sign for this on our way home. It is a very short walk to a viewing platform. It has rained earlier so it was a bit muddy and slippery but not bad. The waterfall is beautiful - if we had had more time we would have gone to the bottom of it too.

Definitely worth finding a few minutes out of Maggie Valley. Had to drive by the pullover area and turn around but within a few minutes you can be at the bottom of the falls for some nice pictures. Best value around!

A short walk from the parking area. But the hike down to the falls is not for everyone. But they have built a platform that will allow you to stand and view the falls from above. But it is a gorgeous falls. .A very popular place to photograph with friends and family. Just be very careful it can be slippery and wet.

decent size parking with a few porta potty. There is a look out area which is ADA compliant that gives a view of the valley below

My wife & I visited on Thursday. Found it using Waze. No sign just a small pull off area for maybe five cars. Fall leaf colors were spectacular. The natural terrain trail down to the falls is short but rough in spots. Observation deck at the bottom to view the falls. Well worth the drive.

You can walk down just a little off the road, they are beautiful Falls.
However a person without athletic ability should not walk down.

located the falls and located parking, very busy place. beautiful falls almost right beside the Highway .

Great little waterfall right off the road. There is not a lot of parking but walking back to the falls is nice. It’s short and sweet but a nice view.

Lovely waterfall, just outside Maggie Valley! Worth pulling over, as the hike down is minimal, and it has several vantage points.

A beautiful waterfall not far from the road. Reading some of the reviews after the fact, I'm sorry I didn't go to the bottom.

It sneaks up on you on the windy road between Asheville and Cherokee, so keep your eyes peeled.
You could literally pull off the road, hike down to the fall or the overlook and be back at your car in 15 min....OR...
Take your time, take off your shoes, stand in the falls, take pictures, walk through the creek a bit, balance on logs, take it all in.
A few extra tidbits:
- Tennis shoes are sufficient
- Rope system to get all the way down to the falls
- Wear pants/shorts that you don't mind your bum getting a little dirty if you go down to the falls
- I imagine it would be very muddy after rain
- Bring a towel to dry your feet off or sit in after the hike
- No bathrooms

Very nice area, relaxing and just a short walk down a fairly steep walkway, worth walking down to. Very shaded and nice and cool crisp air.

Soco Falls is located along US 19 between Cherokee and Maggie Valley on the south/east side of the highway, just west of the Blue Ridge Pkwy. No admission fees but parking is limited to a small pull-off area that is easier seen when approaching from Cherokee. While view-able from the road's shoulder, to access the viewing platform one must walk through gap in guardrail, around the end of the fence, and down the steep steps and pathway. A path does continue past the viewing platform on down to the bottom of the falls but is strenuous to navigate.

This waterfall was stunning!! There was a perfect overlook for my mother in law to see it and my husband and kiddos (10 and 8) made our way down to the bottom of the falls. Very short walk. They have ropes to help guide you down. The temperature drops as you get to the bottom. They were absolutely beautiful. I'm so happy we added the stop last minute while on vacation.

Easy access stop for view of the many waterfalls in the Smokies. Didn't take the time to go all the way to the bottom via ropes but view from above at the viewing platform was enough.

One of the most beautiful waterfall areas we have ever visited! Will have to go back when we have more time and can go down to the water.

Came here with my family including 5 year old twin girls. They were able to maneuver their way down to the falls with assistance from us and their older siblings. Nice relaxing atmosphere and the girls loved looking for salamanders. Enjoy, bring water!

Moderate amount of free parking. Short but very steep hike to get down to falls. Beautiful. Puppy loved it.

Convenient to view just off the main road Sr 19 between Maggie Valley and Cherokee
Worth the stop and short walk to viewing platform

This little beauty is located between Cherokee & Maggie Valley in Soco Gap on Hwy 19. If you’re on the Blue Ridge Parkway, it is worth every second to depart the parkway at Soco Gap and head down to Soco Falls.
Easy access to the overlook allows most visitors to view the falls. Short, steep trail, but is well cared for. Best time to photograph the falls is very early morning or just as the sun is going down.

This was a very short walk from parking and has been on my list to share with my husband. It was a short hike down to the bottom and had a platform for viewing. We took several pics and videos.

We ventured out to the falls and it was beautiful! There is very little place to park along the 2 lane curvy road, no more than 6-7 cars fit into this space. The trek down to the falls is slightly perilous as well. There is an overlook but many (including my family) chose to use the ropes to hike all the way to the edge of the falls and feel the mist against our faces. Watch your step & be careful! it is slippery and a fall would hurt. It is worth the trek down to the base of the falls if you can manage it.
Gorgeous
What a beautiful falls and short, but yet adventurous hike to see it! Make sure you got on good hiking shoes and be prepared to hold onto roots and ropes to get down to the falls. There is a platform that’s pretty easy to get to that you can see the falls from there as well if you don’t want to see it from the bottom, but hearing from the bottom is absolute heaven!
