3 of 30 Best Attractions in Stone Mountain

Something for all ages. The blown glass shop, food, gondola and train rides, bubble man, snow tubing- all were great! We had a fine time & highly recommend. The lines were long but worth it.

Admission fee about 65 bucks including entrance and tram fees. That's high for what we got. Tram ride SHORT and cars rather dingy. No information from tram guide about the history of the mountain, park, or carving. Park no longer cleans the carving of the generals on the mountain. Pretends they arent there! So the carving looks very dirty. There is no signage or guide person or pamphlet or book ANYWHERE, even in the gift shop, to explain history of the mountain and events/meetings that were held there. Rather than apologize for history, the park chooses to pretend it did not exist. Also, there is no signage or guide to tell you what the hell you are looking at when you are atop the mountain looking at various views. There is no coffee shop, just a junk food snack bar. Really disappointed in the whole place. The trails might be OK, but do not go hoping to see a beautiful mountain and views with historical or geographical context. There isnt even any geological information about the mountain. Total disappointment all around.

This was a quick stop on the way home. Great attraction. The gondola ride was amazing. The mountain and views are stunning. The lines are long. The Christmas lights and decorations are great.

Stone Mountain Park! This was our first visit here and I would come back. Once in the park we never left, everything we wanted to do was in the park, we camped here for 5 nights. Plenty of things to explore and enjoy. Hiking, kayaking, golfing, history and an incredible light show. Campground is nice, some sights are tight and we would pick a different one next time, pool was filled with kids all the time so we didn’t check it out too close. Prices and service all good. We didn’t see any place for a “nice” dinner in the park, but you could get a burger. Definitely worth a visit.

I thought the mountain itself was beautiful and the park is nice, however there is very little signage for guidance. It doesn’t tell you that you have to go get a ticket in a long line even when you purchase online. We had our attractions “scheduled time” and it’s about an hour later when we actually get to do what we paid for. We did not get to do all the activities we wanted to. The park ticket was a waste of money when that happens. The two things we did were very enjoyable.. The kids did the sky hike and we did the sky ride. Ever how long you think it will take your family, plan for a lot longer because the lines are long and it takes a while to find what you’re looking for. This is March! When you come in the summer, I can only imagine it will be much worse. Glad I got to do it, but it was my first and last

Tourist Trap! So disappointing...other than seeing the big rock with an amazing carving it's nothing but junk stores, a super crowded mini golf, train ride where we mostly saw trees...they did sanitize the train...NO social distancing in line...or in the park...there is a sky ride, but it was sold out for the day...there is a nice area of historic GA homes...don't waste your money!

Went to the snow tubing and snow play areas. Be aware that from December or January until April time frame they close a fair amount of the attractions and rides. They will reschedule snow tickets for you if the weather is bad, etc.

Stone Mountain Park is a Disaster.
Over Priced and the place is run down.
You pay $20 to enter a closed park during the week.
They have weekend seasonal events at a cost that's higher than Disney.
All the buildings look worn and tired
All areas , Train , Historic Village , Concessions , Welcome Center are CLOSED during the week.
Sky Ride to top of rock is open for $25 per person.
We skipped at that price for a 4 minute ride to stand on top of a rock.
The Mountain Carving needs restored and cleaning .
Couldn't tell if their lodge was closed for season or out of business.
Gift shop is insanely EXPENSIVE !
Take my advice..skip this place.
SAVE YOUR $$ AND 2 HOURS

We were lured by the mountain carving...and were met with bubbles, crowds of people (no social distancing here) junk stores...the train? sounded like fun..we stood in line, in the sun, an hour...lots of people standing together to ride a noisy train through the woods..basically nothing to see but trees...don't get me wrong, I love trees...but don't need to wait an hour in line to see them...they did sanitize the train and I'm grateful...was very disappointed...couldn't wait to leave!

We went to get to the top of the mountain and decided to ride the gondola up. Due to a holiday week the lines were long and I’m hoping they’re not so full at other times. I did buy the membership so I’ll be back to spend time in the rest of the attractions. The views from the mountaintop were gorgeous and plenty of room to walk around.

Enjoyed our home up to the top and a nice walk down. The visitor center was very informative and they were very helpful and friendly

I worked at the park 80s-90s. So much has been taken away. Petting zoo, beach, train shoot out, etc. But most disappointing change is the light show. So much potential with new tech but they dont play one song all the way through and there is no story line anymore, just chopped up songs. Stone Mountain could be so much more. A sad shell of what it once was.

We are a group of family and friends, a total 6 families with a total of 26 people. We rent Yurts at Stone Mountain! Each was right on the lake. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The weather was cold but we sat around our fires at night. We bought tickets for a day at the park. The Christmas light show was phenomenal! The yurts are perfect! The bathhouse was very clean, warm. Highly recommend the Yurts!

I've been fortunate enough to visit this beautiful park twice in the last 3 years. It is a sight to behold. This year I went before school was out and was pleasantly surprised at the great parking spot I got and how easily I made my way thru the park - no long lines. There were a few eateries that were closed, but it was a great day. Riding to the top of the mountain was fun - the view of Atlanta is amazing. But you'll have to be at the bottom to truly enjoy the mountain's carving since it can't be seen while you're standing on top of it! Also - I am truly blown away that this enormous granite mountain carving cannot be seen from areas around the park entrance. It is STRATEGICALLY placed so that you must enter the park to enjoy it - I stand in AWE of this artwork depicting President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E Lee and General Stonewall Jackson. This history of the mountain is also an interesting read ... it's worth Googling. I hope my next trip can include the laser light show!

The best part of our day was seeing the mountain itself. There is very little signage or explanation for where to go, and employees either don’t care or don’t know how to help you. For example you may end up waiting in a line you didn’t need to be in because you already had tickets to something but it wasn’t explained. We took the sky ride up the mountain and then hiked back down. The hike was the best part of the whole trip. Gorgeous mountain, beautiful scenery. I’d go back just for that part, because it’s self guided, but the employees really make it impossible to want to go back to any other part of the park. The food servers act like you asked for a kidney when you asked for a fork. Truly 0/10 for any employee, but 10/10 for the mountain itself. The granite mountain has more courtesy than any of the living and breathing employees.

Amazing Christmas light show. Lots of history. Many nature trails for hiking, plus a lake, senic railroad, a historic village with period homes and mini golf if you're so inclined.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn't the greatest when we visited. But we did not let that deter us. We very much enjoyed the Christmas decorations and lights. The holiday laser show against the mountain was spectacular. We will try and visit again when it's warmer.

Fantastic outdoor activity to get away from the city! We were in the Atlanta area, and wanted to escape the business of the city. Stone Mountain was the perfect thing. We walked to the top. It was a little bit of work, but nothing crazy. Great hike.

Ripoff…Skyride closed because of wind (understandable). Train ride broken. 4d movie delayed because of dog show moved inside. Roapcourse rquiired $10 locker rental but cant be rented at roaps course , Have to leave area to go pay for rental.

I'm shocked that people pay good money to come here. We paid $110 to enter the "park attractions" and almost everything was closed or completely run down. Staff were sitting on their phones - it was a ghost town. We walked halfway around an empty park to take a smelly and overcrowded sky ride to the top of the mountain and the building it dropped you off in was DISGUSTING. Food and trash were all over the floor. We took a few pictures and immediately got on the next ride down.
There were almost no food options anywhere unless you wanted stale popcorn and I wasn't trusting any of the restaurant options on property to serve decent food. All the Starbucks locations were closed. Vending machines had out of stock sodas.
I will probably never return to Stone Mountain and would not recommend this place to anyone with little children. It's not a small child friendly place even though it has a "theme park attraction" - If you're coming by yourself and want to explore nature on your own and want to hike or sit by the lake, you may have a different experience.

Nice views and relaxing atmosphere. Perfect place to unwind and get a good view of Atlanta.
I don’t agree with how much it costs to go up there. Overall, worth the trip if you’re willing to spend $35 per person.

Good value for families ... admission includes tram ride to top of Stone Moutain, train ride around Stone Mountain, shows, light show, grist mill, and covered bridge .... the only complaint would be that parking fee is a little steep

I have hiked the mountain and kayaked the lake but it’s the employees and the park itself that make the trip work it! The park is kept clean and equipment neat and everyone is so helpful! We bought an annual pass because we know we will be back many more times!

Beautiful, favorite was the Summit Skyride and Stone Mountain itself, and the train ride that went around the mountain. Just the history of the mountain is awesome. For a cold day in December the cafe in the park was closed. Wish they had more hot drinks. The hot chocolate at the Marketplace in the Park, left much to be desired. Great family place.

We visited the park on Dec 26th, 2020 as a family. We had a good 5-6 hours in the park. For me
Key things
1. Skyride: A must, you can spend some time on the top
2. Scenic Train ride
3. Dinosaur Park
4. Evening lighting - It was more of cartoon show
5. Stone Carving
As we went on Christmas there were shows and Christmas tree lights which Kids will surely enjoy
One Suggestions to anyone if possible go out of park for food. Food was not up to mark, long lines and cold food
One the key demerits of the park is the cost. $33 per Adult is daily pass plus $20 for parking plus $5 per person for Skyride. Somehow I didn't feel it's $100 for 2 Adults and a Kid. I am sure in lesser price we can get some theme park tickets

1. The lines were too long for small children. 2. Dinotorium was dirty 3. Movie sound quality was so poor we could hear workers on bull horns over film. Worst of all was the schedule of events. There was no visible structure of what was happening and we missed half the attractions.

when I went to visit Family in Atlanta, one place I wanted to go was Stone Mountain.
The Mountain is surrounded by a large state park with many things to do. We bought day passes which allows you into all the attractions you want. For fee is the Tram to the top (although I would have rather walked up) a train around to base of the mountain and a 4D movie theater which was really neat.
From the peak you can see from Atlanta in one direction to the north Georgia mountains in the other. Don't miss this if you go to the area!

We had planned a visit to this park. Due to COVID, most of the attractions were less busy so that was nice. The trip to the top was great, took tons of pictures. The scenic railroad was a little disappointing, I thought we would see more of the mountain, but it was mostly a ride through the woods. Nice view of the etched mountainside, so that was a great tourist picture shot !! Staff was friendly and helpful.

Snow Mountain was awful. Paid $980 for our family (grandparents to 6 years old) to enjoy a Christmas treat. We waited 1 hour in line to pick up a boiled burger or cardboard pizza. Out of all Sara products, and we were told they were fixing it, and not to complain. Actual employee words spoken. It was not fixed in our we were there. The only activity available was the train. It was highlighted as part of the Christmas festivities, including a play called the gift. Train never stopped for a play and had zero views as a big white wall blocked even the view of Snow Mountain. Just woods. Lines for the sky ride to the summit were 3+ hours. When we arrived at specified time for Snow mountain, we were told they were closing it for an hour for maintenance. Do not waste your money. We paid almost $1000 for a train ride and horrible food.

Attended in late December so that we could enjoy the holiday theme. Bought attractions pass. Crowded, mostly with families. Gondola and train had long waits, about 45 minutes. Dino park walk empty & fun. Enjoyed sing-a-long on train, but train screeches a lot. Lights were beautiful thru out the park in evening. Barbecue restaurant poorly run, but food decent. Parade nothing special. Light show good, but should be updated. Snow was a fun surprise & loved the fireworks. Price decent for what you get. This is not Disney World, but local, fairly priced, low key entertainment for families.

How things have changed from when I worked at the park in the 70's. Now you pay$20 to enter and have to pay upwards of $40 just to walk around and look at the carving and shops. Pay money to spend money. Great idea! we were so upset that even the few free sites like the Grist mill and Carrilon had very little parking and even closed restrooms . Again terrible experience.

My fiance and I went to Stone Mountain for the light show & we got the reserved dinner terrace seats. We didnt do the attractions, but this is based soley on the Light Show/Dinner Terrace. The buffet consisted of pulled pork, fried chicken, hot dogs, macaroni & cheese, baked beans, & peach cobbler, along with a bottled drink & popcorn. The food was ok for what it was. The show itself was pretty terrible. The sound was very low & you could barley hear it. All it was was a bunch of clip art 3D videos you could barely see screened on the mountain itself, sprinkled with a couple of fireworks. The best part was the big finale at the end, but thats it. The only reason this gets a 2 is because of the friendly and helpful staff. It was not worth the $72 with tax we paid at all. We won't do it again.

Went to the Pow Wow Festival on Friday and then Saturday. Friday is horrible with 40 minutes wait each for tipis, bathrooms, reptiles and to get in. Saturday we went again because Friday was so awful. And Saturday early was amazing!! Check out Tim Deanes tipi and Jim Sawgrass speak to the crowd. They are both very educated on the native american ways. Also, for $15 a ticket, they could put soap in the front bathrooms!

Stone Mountain has become a disgrace. It’s supposed to be a public attraction, not an overpriced theme park. $20 for 4 minutes worth of tram ride. Disabled people have no other choice than not going. People not allowed to even go to the Green to take a picture of the carving after paying for park entry is an outrage!

This is a great hike. Its not the easiest to do but it's well worth the effort. The views are beautiful

We have been to Stone mountain many times and it's always fun. The ticket prices are very reasonable and you end up spending a whole day there without even realizing.
A couple of months back, we attended the Christmas Town and I must say that it was quite fun. One must note that they do not have a very huge area of attractions (exclude the skyride) and it does gets congested a bit during peak hours. But the shows what they were having are all top class and we enjoyed every one of them.
Infact we went on the day 1 of the event and they were still tidying up the things as employees had tough time to locate the show venues but that's OK.
What needed some improvement is the addition of bit more area to the attractions so that things get bit spread out but still we have a gala time there and would come again for sure...

The park was great except a few minor things.
Some advises:
1. Some attractions close at 5, some at 8 or 9. Plan ahead.
2. Check the map in advance so you know where is what instead of rolling the roads waiting for an interesting place to appear in sight.
3. If you're on a road trip and arrive afternoon, daily passes to the attractions are just $20 after 5 pm, all ages. This gives you time to visit 2-3 attractions and the light show.
4. Skyride is great. In July their last departure uphill is at 8:00, but then they have two departures downhill at 8:20 and 8:30.
5. If you have any issues with your back or neck, DO NOT board the train, even if your kids cry about that. It is shaking badly, seats are very uncomfortable for people with such issues, and you'd regret immediately. My wife has back issues and the pain after the train was so bad that we were thinking about visiting an ER. And it's noisy as if the cars were never serviced since the Civil war.

5☆ for the experience of being in the park, walking up and down the mountain and the views from the top.
1☆ for the facilities. Dont begrudge $20 for parking but to access other "attractions" , even if you just want a coffee it is $39 each! Go elsewhere for eat/drink!!

Who is enthusiastic about going to Stone mountain because I wanted to see the generals on the mountain before the progressives removed it. So I went to the park you got to pay $20 to get in this place. I told him that we were interested in riding the tram to see the generals. I asked if they took the veterans discount. And we proceeded to the parking lot for the tram. Went to the tram and it was closed. It said due to high winds except there wasn't any high winds. So we're old and can't walk a lot so basically what we wanted to see we could not see. So we were charged $20 for absolutely nothing what a rip off. They should be ashamed of themselves so much for southern hospitality.

We tent camped here with a big group of Girl Scouts while we visited for the Native American PowWow event. It was a nice campground except we had to put up our tents on gravel pads. Close to bathhouse that was clean and well-attended. The powwow was GREAT and we hope to return.

Great place, so pleased we checked it out. First off the “mountain” is very cool and unique, something great to experience. Was surprised and pleased that there were so many other activities that were included with price of admission (no incremental fees). Ropes course and train ride were our favorites. Didn’t do mini golf but course was in a pretty wooded setting with early spring blossoms and budding trees. Price very reasonable for all there was to do, we all liked it better than Atlanta aquarium.

Visited Stone Mountain on 8/6/22 and purchased the VIP lazer show tickets that include seating on terrrace, a Coca Cola beverage, and unlimited popcorn. As the day came the forecast was not good. Severe thunderstorms thought the night, but after checking tickets and seeing the show was RAIN OR SHINE we decided to brave the weather.
We arrived and found seating an hour before show time. No drinks being served, no popcorn being served. Then after sitting in the rain for an hour they CANCEL the show!
I asked for a refund as no show even though it was rain or shine and no drinks or popcorn as advertised for the additional price. Then we were told no refunds and they could give a tickets that were good for a year.
I’m sorry but I’m not driving 7 hours back to Atlanta and paying $200 in gas to come back just for this experience. I witnessed them tell travelers from ENGLAND the same thing. Sure pay $800 plus for a ticket to come back to Stone Mountain lazer show from outside the country.
It’s highway robbery to not offer a refund for an experience that cost $20 for parking then $15 a ticket to enjoy and the Rain or shine show is cancelled without any of the extras(popcorn and drinks in this case.
Buyer beware.

We had not been to Stone Mountain Park in years. We purchased tickets on line and got the discounted tickets. There was so much to do inside. We bought the buffet dinner tickets and seating for the lazer and light show. The food was delicious and the seats were great for viewing. The show lasted about 30 minutes. We enjoyed the music and appreciated that the park acknowledged the veterans of the military. We would highly recommend Stone Mountain Park to anyone looking for a fun time.

Cool place to see just outside of Atlanta. It costs about $20 to get into the park itself and then the cable car is a separate charge if you want to go to the top. You can also hike up there for free. The carving is impressive despite its controversial subjects.

Sigh. I grew up here in Atlanta and am now visiting as a parent. I was so excited to explore the new improvements, the village, etc. It was so utterly outdated and stuck in time. In some ways, these new features are really wonderful. I love that there is a geyser tower, an obstacle course, a little village that feels like Disney if you close your eyes and lower your expectations, and different attractions. But the dinosaur building is just SAD. the lighting is weird, the energy is off, the feeling is just - of wasted potential. An incredible building with the most interesting play design, and yet it just feels like the caretaking and love behind keeping it up-to-date is just not there. The cable cars, the train - everything needs a fresh coat of paint. Stone Mountain is interesting and beautiful and a gem - I just wish a company would swoop in and rebrand and rebuild and repaint it. We'll be back - but I'll always been thinking about how I hope a new visionary can light a fire behind all its potential.

Our family of four, mom, dad and 2twentysomethings went to Stone Mountain Thanksgiving day. We parked in the lot for the hiking trail and paid $20 entrance fee to the park. We didn’t do any other activities but hiked the trail and it was well worth it. Our boys got up there in about 30 minutes but it took us about 45 minutes as it got quite steep at the end. It is do able if you’re in decent shape, take your time and enjoy the views. It is best to go on a clear day. You can take the Sky tram down which I was tempted to do but the walk down is much easier as long as your knees are in good shape. Restrooms at top and bottom. Junk food type snacks at top too.

Very charming, beautiful park well worth your time. Such beautiful vistas atop of Stone Mountain! There's a cool Skyride Up and down, a scenic train ride, plus a seasonal Dinosaur exhibit.
Only downside was the indifferent staff at the restaurants, some of the attractions, and the gift shops. When you get spoiled by the Southern Hospitality you encounter elsewhere here, it was disappointing. Many employees don't seem to care much. Needs improvement or woulda given 5 stars

The RV area is under construction but still good. The Stone Mountain light show is the worst! It used to be so good. The projection and the music clips are annoying. They have all the right pieces but it is so badly put together. The graphics on the mountain are sooo bad. We are so glad we only paid $5. Also, wear mosquito repellent if you choose to try it!

Unfortunately, Most activities were closed, due to COVID, but it was still very beautiful.
The only other set back is there are limited, local restaurants.

Stone Mountain Park is a really neat place and great area in the Atlanta suburbs. Stone Mountain Park has activities for all ages including sightseeing, golf, history, stone carvings, skyride, lakes, grist mill, etc. Am scratching the surface here, please see Stone Mountain Park website for latest details.
My review will discuss hiking, as this is the primary activity we partake in. There are many trails. The summit (walk up) trail is difficult short hike on the yellow arrows with a rest stop along the way. The Cherokee trail is relatively flat blazed white trail around Stone Mountain. The Kings Island trail is flat and blazed purple. The trail to Convention center is connector trails. There are several other trails, please stop at Confederate Hall to get a free trail map of the park and visit the displays here. We did the summit trail, Cherokee trail, Kings Island trail, and Convention center trail today and it was a good workout of about 10 miles. Great views from the top. Great trail makers on the trails. This is one of our favorites. See my pics illustrating this.
Parking is relatively expensive here (currently $20), which makes sense if you are a family planning on doing activities at the park. But we are strong hikers and park in Stone Mountain Village, which is about a 15 minute walk from Stone Mountain Park.
In any case, definitely worth a stop here.

Difficult hike on a boring and crowded path culminating on meh views. Save your money and go to the grand canyon instead. The cherry on top of the boredom is that no animals can be seen even pets are not allowed.

We did the trolley to the top of stone mountain, that is all I'd recommend. Rest of the park is full of hidden costs, it's a bit pricey, parking is over $20, a bit of a tourist trap. Only thing we really liked and would recommend is taking trolley to top of stone mountain and leaving. Great view on top of the mountain.

We came here during the week in autumn when limited activities were open. The price was reasonable. We took the cable car to the top of the mountain. The view was really nice. There is a snack bar at the top. We went to Memorial Hall. It had the history of the carving and a movie about the civil war which was long and one on the carving which gave the background of it. This hall was empty. It was okay but boring for kids. We next went to Historic Square which I found very interesting. It was totally empty. There were buildings from around the era including plantation homes, smokehouse, a general store, slave cabins, gardens and outhouse. It was like an open air museum. I found that very informative. All the gift stores were closed for inventory including their main restaurant which was a disappointment.

There is Something for everyone. You can climb the mountain on foot. Or you can ride up the mountain on the cable car.The view from the top is amazing. My daughter and I hiked up . We went around Christmas time and they have festivities at night in the little city. Santa Claus was in the parade. My grandchildren loved it!

Our visit was on a Tuesday in October. After arriving we discovered that most attractions and shops were closed. The parking lot for the Crossroads area was blocked off. The only attraction, other than the hiking trails, we saw open was the gondola and a gift shop. We overheard a worker say that most things will be closed during the week for the rest of the year.
I understand that there may be staffing issues due to the pandemic but the $20 "parking" fee is not justified if things are closed. Yes, the scenery was nice but the Georgia state parks only charge $5 to get in.

We had a great day out !
We did the DIY BBQ / cook out. There are open areas for family fun games and jogging trails.
Get the best seating, food and drinks early for the laser show !

I bought a season pass for the first time this year. I hiked the mountain and looked forward to getting ice and water at the snack bar. It was 7:15 PM and it was closed. The two lady staff at the closed entrance weren't friendly or kind. A male staff was at the entrance of the bar and I asked him if I could get a cup of ice. He said no. The staff at the top of the mountain are not that friendly or professional. I suggested to the two girls to put a sign at the bottom letting hikers know the snack bar operating times and they looked at me like I was crazy. Suggestion- let the employees know how to be customer service oriented and professional.

I guess the time I went to visit Stone Mountain Park all the little stores were closed (I think it was the week to go back to school, not really sure). So I missed all the rides and little stores it had. We did get to climb the mountain though.
On the side of the mountain 3 Confederate heroes of the Civil War are carved : Confederate President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee and Lt. General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. The mountain is 1,683 feet above sea level. There's also a light show with fireworks on 4th of July. Great for the family.
This was my first time climbing a mountain. I am over weight so l had to stop a couple of times to reach to the top. In the begining of the trail they have a vending machine but were out of everything...water, soda, etc. Along the top, I was exhausted and dehydrated from the sun. There was a little convience store on top of the mountain. They do CLOSE at certain hours. So make sure you know when they close that way you won't get a heat stroke along the way. Also, they have a sky summit that will bring you down of the moutain, but you have to pay for it. In which this point, I didn't care what price it was. I have to say the view was spectacular. It was a nice experience. I would def. do it again. But this time I will bring plenty of fluids.

We wanted to go see the Laser Light show, but I was told that it was cancelled because to many people had checked into the hotels and campgrounds, REALLY!!! How about just allowing only a certain amount of guest!!!!

I love Stone Mountain, been coming here since I was a kid. However, every time I go it’s seems the “laser” show gets worse and worse….I don’t think you can even call it a laser show anymore. They say “light” show. It’s all projections and drones….the original was way better. Also, it shouldn’t take 45 mins to get a funnel cake….I hope Stone Mountain can get back to how it used to be….we don’t need all the bells and whistles….

I feel like one could stay here for days before exhausting all possibilities of things to do. If you like southern history, it's definitely a "must see." But even if you don't care for the history of the park, there are plenty of fun family type activities to keep everyone busy without "breaking the bank." ( I felt it was reasonably priced.)

There is plenty to do. We had a nice 3 - 4 hour visit. Mini golf, railroad, sky ride, 4D experience, Dinos, all fun. Park is clean, accessible. Not crowded, but we were there on a weekday.
I only have one word of warning: If you go by rideshare, Uber or Lyft or taxi, they charge these drivers $5 to get in, just to drop you off or pick you up. This is not a bad thing going in, cuz you can pay it for the driver, but coming out is a little more of a challenge, because the driver has to pay it to get in to pick you up. We had three uber drivers cancel the trip once they got to the gate. Best advice is this: once a driver picks up the trip, message them and tell them you will make sure they get their $5 back once they pick you up.
It's not a good practice on the part of the park as it makes it difficult for guests who use rideshare.

If you go there go with your own car. I didn’t know better and went by Uber and they charge you 5 dollars for the drop off. Also, there’s no lockers for bags so if you don’t have a car there’s no way to storage a backpack. All the food is trash (even the hot chocolate they sell during the Christmas events) and the “historical” building they have there was under maintenance. I only learned the parks history because of the Uber I took, nothing at the park. Maybe if you go there planning to camp you will have a better experience than I had.

We have been to Stone Mt. many times thru the years. Initially, our first visits were simply to see it. A very nice place to hike and relax. It has little else. Thru the years many activities have been removed for various reasons. The laser show was changed to an odd visual show. I preface my review with that so that you understand I am not basing this review on one visit. Ive seen a lot and have seen enough. We went to Stone Mt. last weekend to "enjoy" the seasonal activities. Yes, Christmas was "over", but, we went anyway. Big mistake. The one thing Stone Mt. has ALWAYS done well is overcharge and underdeliver. They are still doing it. Excessive parking fees, ticket fees, fees to attend activities in the park, etc, etc, etc, etc. ENOUGH!! I get it, you want to make LOTS OF MONEY. Suggestion --- why dont you offer lots of GOOD things to do? What did we encounter during our recent visit? Quiet. No holiday music at all. Several activities had more employees than visitors. OVERPRICED EVERYTHING in "stores" that offered NOTHING except OVERPRICED EVERYTHING. Example? $1 for 1 oz of "chocolate". $16 per lb?? The fudge was $6 for one piece that was about 3 in x 3 in x 1/2 in thick. The train depot store and restaurant (it serves stuff they claim is food) was 60% EMPTY, except for the punky kids. It was LITERALLY empty. Open floor space. Add to this money making scam all the riff raff punks walking around looking like they cant find their "hood". Then they have a "parade" with the "Princess of Light". Several beat up wagons with the "princess" sitting at the top of one waving to the crowd. She is followed by several park workers who are "dancing" to RIDICULOUSLY GOOFY MUSIC. "Mrs Claus" is in the last wagon with a reindeer. Ill pass right by all the comments I heard about that relationship. During the "parade" it appears they learned how to turn on the park sound system, and are playing holiday music. Imagine that. After the "parade", all quiet on the overrcharging front as they hit the off button on the music. This is a joke. It is such an obvious ripoff it makes me sick. They have taken a decent park and turned it into a "Chuckie Cheese" ripoff. Except, there are no prizes to buy at the end, so it is actually worse. Whoever these ripoff owners are, they need to sell to someone who isnt looking to make $1 million per hour. May we have our beautiful park back, without all the inner city overcharging, etc?

Got to the Park kind of late and could not go to the top of the mountain. Walked around the area and rode the train around the mountain. Got to get back so we can go to the top of the mountain.

This is the third time we have visited Stone Mountain, and still have yet to see everything if offers. Stone Mountain is incredible. This is something you have to see in person to fully appreciate it. The views from the top are amazing, and the entire park has something for everyone. I cannot wait to go back to explore more!

The park has priced themselves out of touch with folks with small children. So sad. We took our small (age 4 and 8) to ride the train and have a picnic. Unless you pay $40.00 per person for several activities, you cannot ride the train. This makes no sense and it's not even addressed on their website. So disappointed. We won't go back and as a local find that the prices should be for individual activities if I choose to not buy this expensive package that small children can't even do. Ugh

Really run down and worn out. Needs a lot of help. You can tell it used to be neat but most everything I saw was in a state of disrepair.

We stayed at the Stone Mountain RV Park and we also purchased tickets to the Laser Light Show. If you have an RV whether it be a travel trailer, 5th wheel, or Motor Home, don't bother staying at the RV Park there. They have really let the RV park go.
The pads and the streets (roads) in the RV park are deteriorated. The pavement is falling apart along with the parking pads. The shower and bathrooms are dirty and the tile in the showers is broken and needs serious repair.
We went to the park about 7 last September and it was so crowded we had to stand in line to visit the attractions. But last week and this was after school was out for the summer had barely any cars in the parking lot and there weren't many visitors there. We went to the laser light show that night and they stopped performing the Confederate part of the show nor did they even mention why the carving was made nor did they have the laser making Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jefferson Davis riding the horses. They have allowed the NAACP to come in and destroy our Southern history. Since this has happened the park has fallen apart.

A place to go with your family, no matter what are the ages, there is some activity to match your mode/age. We had fun, place is clean and neat. One day trip is full of excitement.

First time in Georgia and my parents and I wanted to go to Stone Mountain. For $25 we could take the train and the sky track. Well worth the money and loved getting to walk on top of the mountain. Tip though, don’t wear cowboy boots

Great summary for the history.
Seeing the difference between the living styles of the rich 😯 and the slaves 😔, made me feel sad.
Architecture is very impressive for the big houses.

Definitely overpriced if you just attend the Pumkin Festival, Train Show was terrible. Laser show was 15 min and the parade was a joke. Definitely for kids 4 and under. Pirate ship was cool.

I really enjoyed it even though it was hot and humid in a way I have never experienced before! Next time I would go back in the late fall or early spring when I can do more outdoor activities.

The path up the mountain a literally all stone. It takes about an hour to get to the top and it's all up hill. There are plenty of areas to rest on your way up. The water fountains at the top did not work, so bring water and non-slio shoes. The views are amazing. Coming downhill is fast, but be careful, it can be slippery (sand, moisture, or rocks). You will get a good workout. There are lots of people going up and down, so weekdays are better.

It was pouring rain so we only viewed the carving from the parking lot as the park was empty. There was ample parking and facilities/retail stores

This is a hugh park with running trails. Hiking trails, a lake, and what ever your physical limits are you can find something to do. Lots of walking places. Several different hiking areas. There are several picnic and family areas. So much to do you need a few trips to do it all. We really enjoyed it.

Excellent attraction for the whole family. The view is simply spectacular. It has amusement park and eating areas.

If you want a challenging hike and beautiful view, go to Stone Mountain. Thankfully the weather was sunny because there are parts of the climb that I don't think I could make if the path was wet as the are places which are quite steep. However our children were able to make it though I held our 6 year old's hand for parts of it. You can definitely see a lot of Atlanta once you reach the top. They have a cable-car option though we chose not to go with it. A number of people are there and you do feel safe. I was told to visit Stone Mountain if we go to Atlanta. It is worth the visit and not that far of a drive.

Ok this is a mixed review because there are some nice things but the place didn’t measure up to what I expected as far as the decorations and regular yearly attractions around the park ( Dino museum , golf putt, etc). We did the snow mountain portion and that was good. I’ll start with that.
The tickets for both the park and snow Mountain is regularly 70 bucks ! That’s wayyyy overpriced for what you get. Fortunately they had a one day special ( dec 29 ) during the peak holiday time because that day was forecasted for a chain of Rain at 40 %. lol. We took the deal and thought it can’t rain all day and just sprinkles. Lucky there was hardly any sprinkles ( only at 11 am when we walked in ). Then dry but muggy and not sunny but light , so fine. Deal was 40 pp bucks. So glad we paid this bc I would have been robbed w 70 per person.
Snow mountain :
Slides were fast and not crowded if you come at 11 am. You get to pick a session time to tube ( last 2 hrs) and you can see how many is reserved for a session and pick the One w less people. Ours was fine . Not crowded And it did nt Look too bad later in the afternoon either.
All three tube areas were working. The only thing is for two out of the three tubing areas you have to lug your own tube. It’s not fun so you are too lazy to do it again.
Fast Slide ! Didn’t expect that , so fun. Not snow though but hard Ice. Just pick up your butt on the small individual or double and it won’t slam on the ice going down. The big family Avalanche tube , you don’t have to. It was thick. I didn’t go on the fast tube one but looks steeper than the regular tube ones. I thought the snow tubing options were too little for the price.
Should be four or so tubing area.
The ice play area was Lame. There were baby slides ( like for a 3 yr old ) and that’s it. Otherwise it’s just snow and you are standing there seeing kids play snow fight. Nothing else.
Stone Mountain:
Sky tram ride - great ! Not a long wait when I went so i lucked out. Maybe people thought it would rain and less attendance. You get to see the carving close up on the way up. Once at the top of the Mountain it was a cool view and the area was huge !
Train ride - not scenic at all ! All you see are trees on both sides and nothing else. Very disappointed. They did have sing along Xmas songs and that was fun.
We didn’t see any other attractions besides 4 d theater ( ok ) and putt putt which was tiny . Maybe two families can play. Didn’t even see the Dino place. We walked Around everywhere so must have missed it. Saw some treehouse climbing area but it says open only at 7 pm . We didn’t stay late so we didn’t get to go on that or see any lights around the place. I looked during the day at lights but didn’t see anything grand. I know it’s not Lighted but it’s nothing to me.
Ate at the grand cafe next to the train and they had a chicken chicken strip family meal for 4 w drinks and it was great. I think it was 30 bucks. The strips weren’t bad and had flavor and not dry. Oh if you like your fries crunchy ask for it well done. They actually did it and it was so good. I hate soggy undercooked fries.
So overall, Its ok for 40 pp but 70 pp is awful.

Very nice large park, the walk up stone mountain is very cool. Little steep in the end, wear confrontable shoes. many additional hiking trails, the Cherokee trail is 5 miles and pretty challenging wear hiking boots. Didn't do any of rides or amusement area. was $36 for entry and with no children, didn't bother. Not a lot of food options

My family went for the Halloween Pumpkin event this weekend for my birthday. We had a great time overall but the way we and other people, including other staff members were treated by the food court manager was uncalled for. He was rude and overly dramatic to anyone he came in contact with. Several people noticed his behavior. When he was asked for anything he would roll his eyes give a rude reply like " I'll get in a minute omg" and stomp around. Totally uncalled for. I understand that it was really busy that evening but none of the other employees were acting like that. He really need to be replaced if he can't handle dealing with customers.

I’m not sure if it’s the pandemic or a decline in the place but a number of attractions were closed or would close whenever they felt like it, regardless of time posted. The hiking trails were plentiful and well marked.

My husband and I visited Stone Mountain Park on a rainy day in October. We had purchased tickets ahead of time for the Halloween event and decided to make the most out of the rainy day. I had been to Stone Mountain more than 20 years ago and now that we are calling Atlanta home, we wanted to visit again. At first, we were a little confused as to where to park and to start. We then decided to park at the parking lot where the tram was and start there. The tram ride is really nice and although it was raining, we were still able to see the carving in the stone. We did not spend a lot of time at the top because of the rain. The Halloween decorations were really nice and we enjoyed walking around and seeing everything. We did have lunch at the cafeteria and it was not great, but it was something. We really enjoyed the train ride a lot. We will plan to visit again when the weather is better.

we were are there early in the morning loads of parking space available. you can save a parking ticket and go back out and come back in. Food items and ice boxes are allowed. we did sky train first. bring a selfie stick and backpack all items if you want to roam around. very big park. too many things for kids to do. many water refill fountains. we went on a very hot day. keep in mind that the hike to the top of the mountain is outside the attractions portion of the park with separate parking. night light show is must watch. It was from 9:30-10:45 on memorial day special. park outside the attraction parking lot for the light show if you don't want to get stuck in the traffic jam. over all t he staff is super friendly.

Nice park and well maintained. Do to Covid much was closed including the restaurants. I was glade to visit but would not go out of my way again.

The park is beautiful and has alot to explore, but you have to pay to park, pay to get in, pay to park near the gate, and pay extra for select features. Even though the park's management is greedy it is beautiful, the staff is uder-friendly, and education minded. This park is handicap friendly. The shows are enjoyable and comfortable. You must take the cable car to the top the view alone rates 5 stars.

I was in the park about 40 years ago and I was thrilled at the time. Geologically, the rock is worth 5 points. But the park is completely disoganized. The cable car with a 3 minute journey up and down can be caught a quick glimpse of the impressive relief, which is now hard to see. The cable car to the Niederwald Monument near Rüdesheim is more beautiful and cheaper. We wanted to use the railway around the rock. You can't buy single tickets for the train, but are supposed to buy over 100 US dollars for a ticket. We walked from the station to the ticket sales quite a distance to find out. That was too much for us to drive around the rock.
Milkshake is advertised everywhere in the restaurants. But there's no milkshake in the entire park.

We visited stone mountain Christmas this past weekend. Looking forward to great family fun! Parking was easy. As we entered at 4:15. We were told the skyride was no longer selling tickets. So that was a big let down of course. The park begin to become really crowded by 5:10. Lines were extremely long. Waited in line 20 mins for 2 coffees. Was told you must reserve your seat for the train ride which was a mile long line. And not listed on the website that reservation needed. Then decided to get a funnel cake. Let me tell you
... That was our worst mistake. They only had 1 person taking orders and that same person making the funnel cakes. We waited 50 mins in line. It was absolutely ridiculous. I've never been more disappointed in a park as this one. Staff is lacking. They need more help! Lights were beautiful and fireworks were great. That was it. We didn't get to ride any rides during our 4 hrs their. It's a joke. And I don't suggest going during covid. We went with family that said it was much better a year ago and had many more staff working to make things move quicker.

we stopped here since my husband had never been here before. was easy to find. we were a little frustrated at the fact that we had to pay and there was nothing open inside the park. we drove around the whole mountain to see the grounds. the park is very clean and kept up. we got out and walked around on our own and r=tried to get closer for a better picture.

Very disappointed in Stone Mountain. On their website they claim “OPERATES IN RAIN OR SHINE” NO REFUNDS! Plus your paying $20 to get in. If you’re going to put that out there I suggest you open all activities and restaurants when it rains or if the rain has stopped. We paid a lot of money and visited from 8 hours away to not be able to fully enjoy it. Refunds should be given for rain days! It rained during the day and let up towards the late afternoon. We got there around 4 and noticed that one of the restaurants was closed. I had purchased wristbands to do all activities and food vouchers for the 3 of us. We did the skylight which once we got tot the top it was so cloudy and windy you couldn’t see any of the view. The snack area didn’t have much to choose from. The pretzels, nachos, candy or coffee wasn’t even available. We got back down and headed over to the other activities which when we walked in noticed nothing was operating, the splash pad or the zip line. Once we started walking through only a few stores were open and only 1 out of the 5 restaurants were operating. We decided to go ahead and ride the train and once on, none of the seats had been wiped off (haven’t rained for awhile) and we had to sit on wet seats. The restaurant food was burgers or chicken fingers which had clearly been sitting there under a heat lamp. While eating, the staff was putting up the chairs around us on the tables which I thought was odd since it was only like 6:30 at that time and they were to be open till 8. Most of the staff was just sitting around so I’m not sure why more stuff wasn’t open. We attended the light show which started at 9:30 and paid for the Terrence tickets with free popcorn and drink which was good but having to wait around when nothing was open was irritating.

Every thing is $20, train , mini golf, laser show.
So crowded you couldn’t walk.
Still free to walk up the mountain. $20 entry fee.
Nice place 20 years ago. Now all about the money.
Could not even walk out on grass area to view carving. All blocked off even during the day.

I would advise you to save your money. The campground was quite nice however the Stone Mountain attractions are in sad condition and need of great repairs. The miniature golf was ridiculously dirty and none of the water features worked. The ride around the mountain on the train was an absolute joke. They never paused in front of the carvings to explain them and no history whatsoever. As we walked through the park on this June day, 2022, it is absolutely barren as far as visitors. We saw a couple of children’s groups with a camp or a school but very very few families. Most of the place was absolutely empty. Very sad experience. The best part and the only recommended part, would be the gondola ride to the top of the mountain. Jim, who happened to be our guide on the way down was the only one giving any history. he was wonderful to visit with. He’s the only one I would give kudos to. if you wish to stay at the campground that would be recommended. But save your money on the attractions. Do not buy the day pass as it is a complete rip off. If you want to go up the mountain simply buy tickets to the gondola.

We spent a nice evening at the park. Getting to the top of the mountain is worth it whether you take the tram or walk up. The rest of the attractions were not worth it for us, but could see it for a family with kids.
The new drone and laser light show runs for an hour. The idea of it was nice but it was a little boring.

The new light show is really disappointing. What we did see of it before “technical difficulties” put a halt to the show. We paid the additional fee for the buffet on the terrace which also was a let down. And to top it off they no longer play the National Anthem. Please bring back the traditional laser show and National Anthem!!!

We loved Stone Mountain Christmas! We took our 15 month old son and he loved looking at all the lights and the parade! We loved the sky ride and train ride! One thing that needs improvement is the food service. We went to the Big Rock Cafe by the skyride and the service was terrible. It was very unorganized. We ordered just fries and waited forever and watched as other people got their orders ahead of us because they had sandwiches with their fries. Overall we would go back even with the issue with food service!

This place is amazing. We went to the village area and then took the cable car to the top. We walked down!

We drove 3 hours to go snow tubing with 2 very excited 7 year olds. At 6:30p we got in line to get our tubes & were told the avalanche line was already at a 1 hour wait. So We got in the individual tube lanes. Only 1/2 were open. After standing in line for 25 minutes they opened the lane beside us(1-3 I think). All of those people got to pass us. We final made it to the launch spot after 53 minutes. The second time through the lines were so backed up that you couldn’t get off the conveyor belt without people trampling over one another. The second time through the line was just as bad. So for over $200 & 3 hours of drive time(one way) we got to go down the single slopes twice & never got to down the avalanche.
What a let down. The staff just kept saying that it was really packed. So what’s the point in buying a specific time slot if they are going to over sell it? And only 1/2 of the single lanes were open.

Visiting Stone Mountain Park was so enjoyable as we drove curiously on the Robert E. Lee Blvd around the mountain. Saw the carving depicting three iconic Confederate leaders namely President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee, and General Stonewall Jackson with awe this bright morning. We snooped around the Memorial Hall with interest and we were well-engaged by how the Carving was originated with its beginning process and how long the Carving took over forty years to complete. The captioned movie showed how the Union forces under the leadership of General Sherman sieged Atlanta in detail with engagement. The sloping park along the 13 seceded states standing on both sides was impressive to view. Drove past the historic square on the John B. Gordon Drive with interest.

We enjoyed the trails and a meal at the resort but the ride to the top as well as the train around the circumference were closed. Very few guests at the inn.

This mountain park is 1683 feet above the sea level. There is cable car station for visitors to go up to the mountain. On top of the mountain there is spectacular view of the city .

We visited Stone Mountian park with our 2 year old son for a few hours and enjoyed all the activities we participated in. the park is beautiful and just driving around was a treat. We spent over an hour at the playground there was so much for our son to play on and it was well maintained with a covered area that had picnic tables where we enjoyed a snack. Our son could of stayed in the Dinotorium a whole day playing with the different slides, climbing areas and suction tubes for the balls. We also enjoyed walking through the dinosaur area (if it has rained recently beware this area will be muddy). Next time we visit we will try out the skyride and train along with the food services areas

I hike walk up trail and through the wood trails every week. But this week I ventured on to the lake in a rented kayak. I opted for the 2 hours rental and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Paddled past the Carillion, which seems so hidden away. It was playing and added to my kayak enjoyment. I will definitely go kayaking here again.

Many ways. Lack of qualified help. Ran by teenagers lack of experience. Nothing opens on time as scheduled. Totally ridiculous
Sky hike total failure. First day on job for most of these employees. Lack of no enthusiasm.
Just warning people to pack patience when coming to this park. It's such a beautiful park that it's a shame it's totally disorganized. I don't mind the 150.00 I've spent by 11:00 but please give me something for my money.

When we first arrived it was very difficult to know where we were supposed to go for the event we signed up for. we found our place to sit for a dinner and it was crowded and poorly ran. we went down onto the field to wait for the light show and even after it was late and made us download an app it finally started and at first it was pretty cool and then 5 minutes later they had to stop it due to “technical/weather difficulties” even though the weather was clear sky’s and warm, no rain no nothing. when it ended they tried winning us back over with some fireworks which once again, were underwhelming. we waited 3 and a half hours and for a 5 minute light show that cost a decent amount to be canceled is bs. if you and your family are considering coming here do not book the light show. we also saw online that it happens a lot so yea don’t book it.

We were really disappointed to show up for the laser show and have to pay for an adventure wrist band. It’s not the park’s fault because I guess we didn’t do our research prior to our visit. By the time we paid for 3 wrist bands everything that you can use them for had shut down. The laser show was nice but it was shorter than the normal one. If I didn’t promise my kids a night of fun, I probably would have went home VS spending so much money. After the fact I called and asked for maybe an extra visit to the park bc of the amount we spent and everything that we weren’t able to do. The lady I talked to on the phone was amazing. She genuinely seemed concerned and said that someone may reach out to us. They didn’t but whomever I talked to is excellent in customer service and I really appreciated her willingness to listen to why I was upset.

We spent New Year's Eve at Stone Mountain Park and it was a great experience. We hiked to the top of the mountain because the skyride was closed due to high winds but the hike is definitely worth it. The views from the top are amazing. At the park we did the train ride which was nice. The park was very well decorated for Christmas and the the lights were beautiful at night. The drone show was cancelled but the light show was awesome. They did a great countdown to New Year's at 9:00 followed by a great fireworks show. Would definitely recommend.

I believe Stone Mountain Park is still recovering from Covid, but still had a fun great time. The laser show with the added drones was still cool, but the old show was better. Does anyone know if this iteration is permanent? And I don’t mean using New Age music, I mean they opted to use a lot of projections instead of actual lasers. What they did to the “Devil when down to Georgia” is a travesty! Quality > Quantity! We all still enjoyed and had a great time, I can’t wait until this Historic Homes area is open again. Also, is the petting zoo gone forever? I may be dating myself

Stone Mountain State Park in Stone Mountain is a cool park that has everything from hiking, water, shopping, entertainment, and more. Good experience every time I have been here.

I took advantage of a discount for a membership and am so happy I did! It was the last weekend for Snow Mountain so I had to call to get details about how to book and the agent on the phone was delightful and pleasant and took care of the booking and gave great instruction on entering the park. When I arrived at the gate the agent there too was super sweet and told me where to check in. I arrived at the park and Alicia H was incredible!! She went over all the membership benefits and was an excellent ambassador for Stone / Snow Mountain. I had the best day and really appreciate the service from these employees. Thank you Alicia!!

Everything was perfect and the train ride, di it. Very refreshing and do the mini golf, that was fun too.

The Lazer show was a big disappointment it was more of a projector than a Lazer show they did not finish the drawing with the Lazer the music was very low and even lower when the national anthem was played I have been going there for years and now I don't want to ever go back there was not much excitement the drone show was ok bit very much out if time with the music the fireworks did not disappoint

Our annual trip to the Yellow Daisy was great as usual. It was a little warmer than normal but there is enough shade along the paths to be comfortable. So many sauces, spices, soaps, candles, confections!! My favorite booth is always “Our Daily Bread” to buy a super yummy Apple Raisin loaf.

Every year the laser show is altered and every year it is exciting. Despite the controversy of the sculpture, that does not inhibit the pervasive friendly community spirit that welcomes all

We came here on 3/31/21 knowing the “attractions” were mostly closed. Not sure why, but that’s fine. But we are more interested in the educational centers, learning about the mountain, the carving, the history. But every building we went to had a “closed until further notice” sign on it with no reason nothing on the website about it. As far as we can find the only building open is the souvenir shop. Yay, took $20 from us to drive uaround and then want more money to sell us junk. What a waste of a drive and time and money. If a place is going to have a website it needs to be up to date!

The walk is a real challenge on a hot day, but well worth it in breaking a sweat! I love the view from high above seeing the city of Georgia & greenery everywhere is BEAUTIFUL!

If you just want to climb the mountain using the walk-up trail (2.2 miles out and back, elevation gain 675 ft) and don’t want to use any attractions like the tram ride you can be done in an hour. In this case a $20 parking fee is too much. It’s the same price than for example the entrance fee for the Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado. For using some of the attractions it is recommended to check-out opening hours before your arrival. But the best is anyway the view from the top.

My husband needed a wheelchair & everything was so easy and accessible for him. From motorized wheelchair to gondola & train. The staff was always willing to help.

Stone Mountain is a really unusual rock formation. After getting out of the aerial tramway (fee payable) at the top station, there'are some information boards but they do not prepare you foe when you walk out as you might think you are walking on a lunar landscape. There are some really good views of the surrounding countryside and distant Atlanta. What really surprised us was there was a vehicle on the top. I wouldn't have fancied his drive back down. If you stand on the right hand side of the aerial car (either going up or coming back down) you will get a good view of the carvings. There is a film show about the carvings but the only downside was that there were no refreshment outlets open the day we were there.

A good experience....a 5km trail walk actually took us 3 hours rather than the 1.5 we would normally expect. Wear robust shoes if you are planning the trails walks. $20 per car.
Quite a marvel seeing the carving...well worth it.

A friend and I went to Stone Mountain to climb the mountain. It was a cold, windy day and the cable car wasn’t running yet. We ended up hiking up and back down. It was strenuous but totally worth it! The views from the top were excellent. We also viewed the carving which is the largest carving of its type in the world. The entrance fee is about $20 per car which isn’t bad when compared to other area attractions. We enjoyed ourselves and felt very accomplished with the climb.

We had the option of paying $20 for a day pass or $40 for an annual pass. We were just passing through and wanted to see the relief, so $20 seemed a bit high. Lots of areas were blocked off. We enjoyed the drive around into different areas and were surprised to see the Missouri Belle from the show Ozark! We had no idea it was docked here. The covered bridge was nice to see as well.

In a word concessions lights are beautiful park is beautiful train ride was great laser show was ok but food service was terrible two hour lines not enough employees rude employees bought souvenir cup for 13 buck free refills but wait got to stand in one line to get cup then go to get in another line to get it filled up the largest restaurant there does not refill cups. On top off that 2 hours in line for overcooked food order was not right and they ran out of ice 🧊 so what good was the cup employees did not know where activities were or what time they started lines were awful

Stone Mountain park is massive. We camped while we visited for the Stone Mountain Highland Games in October. The campground roads need improvement to say the least. A lot of sites are unlevel and "lumpy". The original site I picked was one; we could not level the RV, despite the front tires being off the ground a good 8 inches. Luckily, one of the many workers was able to switch us to another site, which was much better. We rode the cable car to the top of the mountain (fee required) and it was definitely worth the price. The views are spectacular. There are many trails and walking paths within the park, a covered bridge and a granite display. While in the area I highly recommend a trip to the Dekalb International Farmers Market. From dry goods to meat, fish, bakery, produce, beer and wine can be purchased at this huge indoor market. It was fabulous!

Don’t waste your money, go somewhere else! Only three things were open for our 4 year old to enjoy. The food was horrible and the tables were very dirty. Laser show and the fireworks were awesome but had a hard time following the story. We will NEVER return!!

Our trip to Stone Park was just OK.
We arrived in the afternoon (4pm) and many attractions and shops were closed. We enjoyed the sky ride to the top of the mountain but the rest of the attractions included in our package of $35 per person were not worth the price.

We got there later in the day and did not have nearly enough time to really enjoy all there was to see. We did find the old Grist Mill and the Quarry which are both really quite interesting to see. We finally found a parking spot (very busy day) and made our way to the park itself the winter wonderland event was going on so we decided not to go in but instead to the skyride to the top of the mountain was very worthwhile the night view of Atlanta was spectacular! We will be going back to see more of what we missed because there was so much we didn't see/do.

This was a challenging hike up a mountain that some parts were a little slippery because there wasn’t much grip to the rock. There’s an option to take the tram up or down, but it cost money so we opted to walk up, but I wouldn’t say it’s for the faint of heart, especially since there’s one steep part where you have to grab the railing. overall it was a fun hike, but try and go when it’s not super sunny to avoid getting overheated

First, the area was beautiful. My family of 6 was very excited to spend the day here. I had called beforehand and asked a bunch of questions about the activities so I knew how to spend our time hoping to see and do as much as we could. Sadly we spent a lot of money to pretty much just wait all day.
It was expensive. First, you have to pay to park, then you have to pay to get in, and pay more for some activities then more money and more money. I felt they were charging for every little thing and not just a little, $10 for a locker rental for less than an hour. I had to pay extra to go on the Skyhike then to pay more for a locker. Seems like they should be free. Plus the climbing wall was closed.
You have to reserve a time to do the activities and they will not let you in line more than 10 minutes before your timed ticket. We waited over an hour to ride the Skyride to the top of the mountain. Why have a reservation timed ticket? Plus it was an hour wait to come back down.
My kids were so excited to ride the train, but we were turned away 3 times because the lines were so long and we never were able to ride it.
We only got to do a few of the activities in the park because we spent so much time waiting. Save your money and go somewhere else or skip the attraction section and go hiking.

The park is really nice. A lot of joggers and bike riders, and the Stone Mountain is the center of it all.
You do have to pay to get up there, but it is worth it. But you can also hike it (about 1.5 miles to the top).
However, I felt it's kind of run down in the sense that the tram lets you off and that is it. The convenient store was closed, so no refreshments, and there was no staff in sight.
You do get some nice views so that is pretty great.
If you have the time and enjoy the outdoors, than it is worth to visit.

So we are on vacation at Stone Mountain Park and visiting my parents. There's a dinosaur exhibit in the park we wanted to show my son, Charlie. Dinosaurs are his favorite. As we walked up we were greeted by Kris. Kris saw me sign "dinosaur " to Charlie and immediately switched gears and started to communicate via ASL to him. Let me tell you our hearts melted. Kris took the time to ask Charlie about his favorite dinosaur and learn a little more about him. As we were leaving we stayed for the dinosaur "meet and greet". We were shocked to the core when Makayla and Sam Raptis came out and asked if we were with Charlie, and signed his name. During the meet and greet Kris and Makayla were signing for us as much as they knew. Even afterwards they followed us to learn more and communicate with Charlie. This experience is our absolute favorite part of our vacation. My older children enjoyed the experience but for a mostly deaf 3 year old with a love for Dinosaurs, this experience was pure magic. Thank you Stone Mountain Park, Kris, and Makayla for this experience. We look forward to coming back!

The stone is huge - so unexpected in this land. The history of the stone and its development into an attraction is very interesting. So many artists worked on the carvings. Even with the explanations, it is hard to imagine the work involved. This was my second time there.

Great Experience For Me And The Fam Tyler Was A Great Help With Guidance Highly Recommended If Your In Town Stop By.

I guess if you're used to the South and its peculiar history, this place is ok to visit. There are beautiful vistas, picnic areas, and kid-friendly amusements. For us--tourists from the West--it seemed like Mars and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. I am an enthusiastic student of hisory, including the Civil War. But this is not a museum dedicated to historical reflection--it is a celebration of the confederacy. Monuments, street names, historic markers all display a reverence to enslavers and traitors to the constitution. It gave me the creeps.

The Carving of Lee, Jackson, and Davis was not as impressive as I was expecting, even though it is larger than Mt. Rushmore, and is also the largest bas relief sculpture in the world. The carving actually looks as if it is not being maintained (to this untrained eye), as it did not look as "sharp and clean" as pictures I had seen of the carving upon its completion. Anyway, wanted to see this artwork before a very vocal minority forced politicians to blast it off the mountain side.
I would not recommend the VIP pass. We purchased it online, but there were so few people at the park (We visited on A Friday in late September.) that they weren't even utilizing the VIP lines. The Skyride was a nice, two minute ride up the mountain. You are allowed to walk anywhere on the mountain top that you wish. You have an excellent view of the City of Atlanta from this vantage point. To our surprise, we discovered that people can actually walk up Stone Mountain from the side directly opposite the Skyride. A lot of locals were doing this. There are two such walking trails. One is marked with yellow paint, and the other with white paint. I was told that the trailed marked by white paint is much stepper and dangerous than the trail marked with yellow paint, but I cannot verify that fact. All I can state is that everyone was on the yellow trail, and it did not look difficult at all.
We visited the Memorial Hall. All of the doors had large, red signs on them that stated "Not an Entrance", but after seeing someone exit one of those doors, we realized it was open and that you could go in. Not sure why the "Not an Entrance" signs were posted. There is really not much in this building. One wing has an old cafe that, while the doors were unlocked, was closed with the lights off, and looked to be in the very early stages of either being evacuated or remodeled, as it was in disarray. The other wing of the building was closed with the lights off and paper over the doors, so no idea what is/was in there. There is supposed to be a museum in this building, but danged if we could find it. There was a sign that stated the museum was to the left. We walked to the left, and about 60 feet later there was a sign that showed the museum was to the right. The only room between these two signs was the auditorium in which a movie was shown about the Battle of Atlanta, and another movie about the "Carving of Stone Mountain". We watched both, guessing the total time was 25 minutes. We were the only people in the auditorium (probably because there is no marked entrance to the building)
We also rode the train around the mountain. I didn't use a stopwatch, but guessing it was around a 10 minute trip. Not much to see but trees. There is one stop in which there is a comedy sketch based on the Three Little Pigs. The sketch is definitely geared towards those 6 and under. I would not ride again, but was nice to experience it once, just so that I know what it is like.
There is an area in the park that opened at 2 pm. It is like a little town with restaurants, the aforementioned train ride, a 4D theater (which we did not visit), carnival games, miniature golf, a "Dinosaur Explore" area, with 20 life-sized dinosaurs (that looked very good), among other things. We didn't stay for the light show because we just didn't want to hang around that long, as there is really not much to occupy two adults on a mini-vacation trip for several hours (unless we had young children with us).
Anyway, giving it 4 stars. While there is not a lot of interesting things to see, it is great to view the largest such bas relief sculpture in the world. It is very well done, just appears to need some TLC. Would love to come back sometime and walk to the top. You could actually see the carving and walk to the top for free (although you would have to pay for the $20 parking pass).

We actually just went for the Skyride and not the whole theme park. We just wanted to see the carving. I called ahead and they said we buy tickets that day. I probably should have asked about parking but didn’t. We will get to that in a minute. The Skyride was smooth and you get a really great view of the carving. Our tram operator even told us a bit about Stone Mountain so we got a little history. When you get to the top, you can walk around the top of the mountain itself but be careful because it is uneven terrain and there isn’t a designated walking path. The views were breathtaking and we picked a great, clear day to see the views including the Atlanta skyline. The reason I gave it 4 starts: the parking is $20 and we were only there about an hour. The Skyride tickets are $15 + tax each. I find this to be theme park expensive for those of us who really weren’t there for the whole park.

We visited Stone Mountain during Christmas break with our grandsons. We had visited previously and really liked it. The snow mountain part of the visit was disappointing because the weather had warmed and the snow was scarce. Nothing can be done about that. We opted to ride the tram to the top of the mountain. The view from there was fabulous. Enjoyed lunch and seeing the shops at the park.

The whole park is abandoned. Bathrooms closed or dirty. signs falling and rotten Sky ride was closed. Restaurants, hotel. gift shop closed. Carillon not operational. Drove 3 hours from Tennessee to reach this place and wasn't even advised at the entrance that everything was closed. Temporary fences that look in place for years everywhere blocking access to areas.
They shall be fined for FALSE advertising.

My family finally checked out the park. The trails are really nice. Very picturesque. We bought the attractions pass and it is overpriced for what is available. The Dino Explore is a small loop. The facts are very minimal. The train ride was relaxing with facts on a t.v. screen and quick quips from the guide, but it was through the woods and rock formation on the side and a quick glimpse of a little town. For us the best part was the historic district. You are given a guide with history. You are able to venture in to some of the homes with original furnishings and history of where they came from. Due to covid-19 only a few were closed. They used to host events. Mini golf was busy, and when we made our 2nd attempt, we were half way through when they kicked all of the patrons out to close. No warning to many of us. When handing out the gear the workers should make the customers aware of this happening instead of rudely rushing people out. It makes it hard to swallow when you are trying to get everything done. Thankfully my son is a teenager, so missing the Mowgli 4D didn't matter because we had to make time to eat. The Big Rock Cafe by the sky ride had very good flatbread and cheeseburger combos. The pricing was decent (we couldn't get the meal plan because they have to be purchased 24 hours prior). You pay to enter the park in order to get to the attractions, so if you want to make your dollar go further you definitely need to walk the trails and explore, otherwise the cost is higher than it should be. We wish the parking was included in the attractions price or half the cost. If you live in the area, the annual parking pass makes more sense. The carving (controversial history aside) truly is artistically impressive. Our visit was on a less busy day, but for the most part, people practiced social distancing and wore their masks. Other than the mini golf issue it was a nice day. We spent 5 hours with the attractions.

The 4th of july fireworks and laser show are a horrible time to bring along your family. Stone Mountain does a bad job of limiting how many are allowed to be on the memorial lawn and it makes it to where people have been there for hours waiting end up being packed in and their area reduced because stone mountain wants to oversell tickets without the capacity. They also announced to leave due to rain but then started it regardless after telling people to leave it felt like such a scam.

We arrived at 3pm and stayed for the laser show/fourth of July spectacular at 9:30. Unfortunately, the main park no longer has a focus on education/teaching the history of the area like it did in the 80s. It’s more like a local carnival for families with very young children. There is a movie in the museum about the carving and a movie about the civil war in Georgia, both worn and out of focus. Fireworks were great, but was disappointed the fireworks portion had almost zero patriotic theme for the 4th. If you are spending the weekend, coming with an RV, and looking for a place with a lake and trails to relax in a forested setting- this could be quite nice. The Evergreen hotel was also quite nice, but the park attractions aren’t worth it.

The park was beautifully decorated. I would love to see them expand upon their snow activities with sledding and/or carriage rides. I think it was a great value for the experience.

Whether it’s biking, hiking, walking or fishing this park has something for everyone. It’s very well maintained and the annual pass is only $40. I enjoy getting away from the city and riding my bike here

Stone Mountain, Georgia: A Natural and Historical Gem
Stone Mountain, Georgia, is a destination that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and family-friendly activities. Located just outside of Atlanta, this charming town is home to the iconic Stone Mountain Park, which attracts visitors from all over the world.
The park features a variety of activities for nature enthusiasts, including hiking, biking, and fishing. One of the most popular attractions is the one-mile hike to the top of Stone Mountain, where visitors are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area

Stone Mountain offers different experiences for different interests. We opted to hike to the top of the mountain and it was one heck of a hike! The view is quite nice from the top. Great workout on the way back to the car.

Property maintenance was terrible with trees and limbs growing over monuments. There was NO MUSEUM available and much of the park had construction/restricted barriers that made it impossible to walk around. Ride to the top and view off of the mountain were excellent. Sculpture is amazing. Areas with missing displays should have new installations/displays, not markers describing what used to be there!

Stone Mountain State Park is a beautiful natural area with a little bit of everything. The "mountain" is actually a gigantic glacial erratic deposited millions of years ago. It's surrounded by lakes and a forest. We saw two deer and a number of mushrooms and shelf fungi. The park is so much more than the famous carving.
I'll not comment on the political controversy surrounding the carving and the Confederate history featured in the park, other than to note that Kentucky was never officially part of the Confederacy. Short version: It's complicated, but we never truly seceded.
The carving itself is stunning, and huge, actually bigger than Mt. Rushmore's carvings. It can be viewed from the Skytrain cable car, which carries passengers to the top of the 1,683 ft granite "mountain." The view is stunning from atop the mountain, and the Skytrain is an affordable at $16 a ticket.
Parts of the park were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we would come back even if we saw everything. The carving is impressive, but what made us love the park was the natural beauty.

Wonderful day!!! More than we were expecting! There is more to do than just look at the monument! We were very unhappy that we were not told that Heritage Square closes at 5:00 p.m.! We should have been told this when we went in. We missed this attraction by 5 minutes! Not good!

We were looking forward to our trip to Stone Mountain Park. First off, it is $20.00/car load to enter the park. We were traveling with our dog, and read dogs were allowed. Once we purchased our tickets (another $50.00!!) we found out dogs were not allowed in ticketed areas! Only on the trails surrounding the park. Very disappointing! My husband & I had to take turns on the train since our dog wasn't allowed on it. I was told by one of the employees dogs have been allowed in the past but because of Covid that has changed! Really? I didn't know you could bet Covid from a dog! That said, the only attraction we were able to do was the train. Train ride was nice but why the stupid hunting for dinosaurs show?! Stone Mountain is supposed to be an educational trip not an amusement park for the kiddies. Also another dinosaur exhibit across from the carving. We heard the company who handles Dollywood is responsible for making Stone Mountain into an amusement area. Such a waste of our time and money

We enjoyed it! Got rained out the first day & got a bounce back to go back. It’s definitely worth going at least once!
The train, sky ride & rock were the coolest.

A family member had bought our tickets early September with a meal deal but since the company had been taken over, the meal deal was no longer offered. The customer service associate at the Sky Ride was not aware of how to address this. After a call to her supervisor she was able to offer us the VIP experience in place of the meal deal. We went ahead and took that and boy were we glad we had that! With the VIP experience you get to the front of the line and have little wait on all the attractions. It enable our family of 7 to maximums our time at the park! The lawn seating was great on the terrace, perhaps put a few heating elements for those that have the VIP. Other than that the value was wonderful and thank you so much for keeping CHRIST in Christmas! Please do NOT waiver and change that to get MORE people to visit. Some may never step foot in a church but here they will hear the story of Christ birth.

The controversial Stone Mountain showcases a carving in the side of the mountain with three confederate greats including Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis. Despite the controversy surrounding these figures, the carving is an astounding view to take in and there is a nice walk that can be done around the area with flags from each of the southern states and a small info plaque about each states’ involvement in the Civil War.

The nature surrounding Stone Mountain is beautiful, as is the history. But the amusements are a mess. There isn't a worker there over the age of 20, and no one really has any information about any other part of the park. We went during Christmas and had purchased the VIP package - don't get roped into that one. There is nothing "VIP" about it. The hospitality is horrible. Our skyride reservation was cancelled due to wind and rescheduled to the next day - when we arrived at the park they didn't have our new time on file, printed our prior day's tickets and told us to go to the ride at the right time and "they would have our name on a list". They didn't. We were then told to go buy another ticket. I'll be speaking with customer service to get a refund. The food is also subpar at any of the restaurants, as is the service. Finally, many of the amusements are broken or run down. The place needs a total overhaul.

Totally disappointed on New Years Eve. Paid $177.00 for my granddaughters and I to go to the worst event ever. Stone Mountain has always had wonderful events. The ones on the stage were so Not Together at all. The projector also kept goingbout putting lines on and off the mountain. You coukdnt understand what was being said . All of it very muffeled. My granddaughters kept saing , Nana; what are they saying?
The whole experience was so disappointing! The food was horrible,

A lot of the park was closed during these times. We did go to the grist mill and looked at the carving on the mountain. Definitely a great place to visit.

Two adults, no children on this trip. We enjoyed it very much. It is a unique natural attraction. Most activities are outdoors. The 5 mile train ride around the mountain was nice but you could not hear the narration. They stop for a hokey little dino show (all guests stay onboard to watch it).
The 4D little movie (inside theater) was fun. Short enough not to get boring.
Skyride to top of the mountain was well worth it for the view it provides. Again, about a 3 minute ride which is just right.
Laser show starts at 9:30 pm with some fireworks included. Lasts about an hour.
Seating is on a lovely sloped grassy area but also has flat viewing spots for those who want to bring their own chairs. Great music.
A beautiful Marriott hotel is on the grounds. Outside and inside pools.
Plenty of hiking, biking and kayaking opportunities.

Purchase online tickets for Oct.11,2020 thinking the Sky Hike along with other attractions listed would be open. 2 ppl was about $80 and change with Parking. Plus additional $5.00 a person to ride skylift. they had the new Dino and Pumpkin festival to see. Once we got in no problem for skylift enjoyed that part. When we went over to attractions area only 4d, dino exibit, train, mini golf was open. The Sky Hike was closed when it was listed as something TO DO. no saying that it was closed online. The mini golf course is not very well kept up. The pumpkin festival is short and they say fireworks go off every night.. True.. but its 1min long and it closes out the evening. The park was always known for the laser show and awesome fireworks and they fell short of our whole 2nd time experience. Wish i would of read current reviews before spending the money i did

I climbed it, looked around and walked back down. It was 7000 steps from parking, getting to the trail and hiking up. Great views and good to get your heart rate up. You can park in town and hike over. Pedestrian traffic is free. The water fountain is turned off until March 1st and the cable car wasn't operational Feb 3, 2020. Take water and sunscreen. Hat would be a good idea as well.

My friend and I took the Summit Skyride up to the top and despite the almost 100-degree heat of the early afternoon, this was worth every penny. The ride up takes about 2 1/2 minutes. The skyride operator talks about the carving and the surrounding areas. Once you exit at the top, the pavilion offers A/C, food and beverages, a gift shop, rest rooms and some history to the place. Once you exit the pavilion and head outside, make sure to have water and good walking shoes as you will not want to miss the view: 360-degrees on a clear day...which it was. Be careful as you walk around. There are some trees that provide some shade and rocks on which to take a rest. Bring your camera and lots of "oohs" and "ahhs" as you explore above the carving. You can take the skyride back down or hike down. The hike takes about an hour. You can also hike up if you desire. We saw people walking and jogging on the trail. The view is not to be missed! The experience of living history in this outdoor museum is simply amazing. This park is located about 20 minutes east of downtown Atlanta. Worth the visit. Make sure to explore the park as you drive around. A variety of different vantage points of the carving can be taken advantage of at different locations. When in Atlanta, you simply cannot miss this important but very impressive park.

My family enjoyed all aspects of Stone Mountain. There was so much to do and see. We will definitely come again.

There were 3 of us playing around in the park on a very hot August day. The people/workers for the most part were friendly and helpful. If I had one negative thing to say it would be they Did Not Have Enough Cold Water or Ice available to get or purchase.

Paid $20 per vehicle to park then hiked to the top of the mountain.
An amusement village blocks the view of the actual carving so you can only see it from an angle or if you pay $$$ to enter. We wanted to go to the historical museum and educational film to learn about the history of the area and the carving, It was only accessible with a full admission ticket which would have been more than $200 for our family of six.
The trail to the top was well marked and maintained. The map said 30 minutes but it took us quite a bit longer. It is pretty steep! I’m sure the view is amazing but it was foggy so we didn’t see anything,
The only restrooms near the parking area outside the paid ticket booth were absolutely filthy and reeked of urine. Employees were not helpful or friendly.
It was a moderately challenging hike that we enjoyed but I’m sure there are many other options that wouldn’t charge an arm and a leg for parking and would actually provide historical interpretation.

Very disappointed. Trash everywhere, plastic bottles and food wrappers all over the top of the mountain. Most of the sit down restaurants that took the food voucher were closed. Everything could use a coat of paint. Nothing about the history and carving was open. Mostly geared towards 6 & 8 year-olds. The highlight was historic Square. Everyone there was friendly and knowledgeable. I visited in the mid 70s, and Everything was about the history and the carving. Not anymore. Now its a dirty run
down kiddy ride park

Excellent park but sadly the day we went the only attraction open was the sky tram. We wanted to take the train ride a do some mini golf. The trip to the top of the mountain was awesome

Buy the season pass It's cheaper....especially if you're going a few days....also the pass gives you 2 hours a day snow tubing....don't put to much stock in the food in the park eat before you go....train and ride to the top of stone mountain was nice.Seeing all the lights at night was really worth it....they set the tone for Christmas....the park overall is really nice

This past Thursday I visited Stone Mountain Park. I arrived there at 2PM. Parking fee was $20 😂. I purchased a half price ticket on line and I added the laser show ticket for $5. Many of the attractions and food vendors were not open that day. I got a chicken sandwich, fries and a soda at the Big Rock Cafe for $15 😂. I did enjoy the Tram and train ride. The exhibit on how the stone carving was accomplished was interesting. I left early as I needed some real food and I could not see walking around for 3.5 hours to see the laser show was worth it—extremely hot, boring and rain clouds were coming. Would I go back again? NO!

We visit Stone Mountain Park in Georgia. We had a wonderful experience. They only do the light show on weekends bc the children are back in school. If you like walking on trails it is a wonderful place to visit. Visiting in October is fun bc they are decorated for Haloween.

Th skyline is amazing. The only issue is that there are no signs to indicate where to go if you are VIP or not. In my opinion VIP would not be worth it. All it does is get you on the ride first. Then everyone else piles on.
The wristbands were excessive. About a 3 inch plastic band to go around your wrist and sweat all day.
There is a military discount most places inside the park if you ask for it.
I found it odd that nothing really opened up until noon on Saturday.
Train ride was just ok. We could not understand the guide.
4D theater was fun.
Oh and the telescopes at the top of stone mountain were all broken.
The Lazer show got canceled due to a storm and no refund was given.

Today we went to Stone Mountain they took out $20 but did not tell us this would give us nothing. only a ride into the area. We would have to pay another $40 each to even be able to walk around.
I think this is a big rip off they should tell us from the very start the $20 only gets you the privilege to drive on the road !!!

This is an amazing sight to see, both as a nature phenom and the incredible carving in the face of the mountain, designed by the same sculptor who created Mount Rushmore. The gondola ride to the top is not to be missed, even though it is an extra cost but well worth it.

Visit was wonderful. A great holiday outing for the entire family. Really enjoyed the shows and the ride to and from the mountain.

The park was clean and people were relatively friendly. The ride to the top of the mountain was great and the view was spectacular. If you don’t like to be in a small place with a lot of strangers, don’t ride the tram up. The hike up the mountain was nice as well. Make sure to wear appropriate shoes (hiking boots, tennis shoes) and socks so your feet won’t blister. Be mindful that the rocks may be slippery even if it has not rained. There is a snack shack at the top of the mountain and displays about the mountain. We were there during a boil water advisory so all drinks were bottled. There were port a pots at the top and a rear area a little over halfway up the mountain. There is a rail to hold on to to help you navigate the incline very worth the trip up the mountain. On a clear day you can see Atlanta and other cities.
Saw the Christmas and new years laser show. The drones were no less than magnificent. After seeing the drones and how amazing they were the laser show was a bit of a let down. 😊. If it is foggy, you will not be able to see the lasers clearly. Make sure to take a blanket and chairs to the show because sitting on the ground is uncomfortable. Also something to wipe off the chairs of you purchased VIP seating. I would take a wagon to haul it in. You can see the show from anywhere on the lawn. VIP seating was good but not a must.
The train ride was cool. The music was easy to sing along with. I loved the message of Christmas when we did our stop. Very on target with the season.
The kids loved Dinoland. We had to drag them out. Seemed counter productive though to say “don’t throw the balls”.
The lights were beautiful and well done. We did not try any of the food options.
There was no one directing traffic to get out so be prepared for a wait.
Don’t miss the 4D theater.
Putt-putt was fun but crowded. Go in the middle of the day (3 ish) to avoid the crowd.
Some things opened at 10 and some at noon so make sure to check before you go.

With little or no warning the Lazer show was not included with entrance fees. At first they wanted $20 per person. Only after researching their website did we find a $20 per box fee (one box could hold up to four adults).

Spent a pleasant Sunday at the park. Arrived early. Crowds were minimum and temps were cooler.
Did the sky-car to the top of Stone Mtn. first.
Great view and educational signs in the building. Did not find any shrimp in water crevices after the previous night’s rain.
Appreciated the narrative history while in the sky-car.
Came down the mountain and walked to the marketplace area. Shopped . Took train ride which was lovely. The descriptive narration was at times hard to understand over the noise of the train. Captioning on the screens would help. Played min golf. Yes, the course needs updating, but it was challenging set of mini golf tracks with a story theme at each hole. It is a place for relaxing family fun. Went to the cute Mowgli 4-D movie which was approx 14 minutes. Lunch options were extremely limited as most every food place was closed! Ate at the main marketplace indoors using our meal ticket purchased online. Then drove to the Heritage Ctr which was closed. So we drove to an educational center which was about the nature and geology of the park. There we picked up a brochure about the hiking trails in the park. Yes the park has improvements to make. More shade tent areas for visitors, More seating near each of the event spaces. Refurbishment needs everywhere .The misting stations were appreciated . Security seemed visible in many areas of the park.
Children’s dinosaur area we did not visit or any evening show. Understand the park has numerous seasonal events. Pricey for a group of 4. It was approx $200.US.

stone mountain is a very nice place to spend your summers days. their train rides the kids as well as adult will love. the nature trail where all kind of flower grow is beautiful. the play ground id a way to relax while the kids play. by all means do the paddle boat take some popcorn with you to feed the duck . I loved the steam boat. do yourself justice and visit the great big rock.

The park is beautiful, all employees friendly and polite. Be forewarned though - if planning to use Uber for transportation to and from the park (or any festival within), all Uber drivers must pay $5 to get through the gates in order to pick you up.

I had been there ten years ago and wanted my husband to see it. What a huge disappointment.we paid the outrageous $20 parking fee but then Before we paid the money to go up a couple stopped us and asked if we had been up before. And they said it wasn’t the same and showed a picture to us. The carving is not cleaned anymore so you cannot see the soldiers. I guess it’s there way of hiding our history

Seeing the beauty of the art work on the mountain and watching the movie of how they did it, great !!!! I love it!!! And will go again from California to Georgia

Great if you are a local and annual member.
Avoid if you are a tourist. Like every other review, it's a tourist trap. You pay $20 for parking/ park entrance and then pay for everything you do. Disney prices for much less to do.
Read good reviews on many activities that were canceled during covid. Minimal staff there and met some rude ones. Prob not very happy during this lean covid time.
A nice and calm environment to take walks, take a look at the rock, and just relax if you don't mind the cost.

The park is very large. Most of the attractions are closed during the week. You can drive or walk all around the mountain.

We actually had a wonderful time at Stone Mountain on July 2. The weather was mild for Georgia summer which was key! We purchased activity passes from Groupon ahead of time which saved our family a lot. There was a little confusion on what that meant and what to do, but once we figured it out, the kids had a blast! We enjoyed the activities, the sky tram to the top and the laser/drone show and fireworks. The area could definitely use some sprucing up and if more than one food option could be open past 8pm on busy nights, that would be ideal, but otherwise all the employees were kind and helpful and we had a wonderful day and evening!

We visited this park when leaving the Atlanta area to Tennessee on a fall weekday, I treated it like a long lunch stop and found the place well worth the trip. Because I arrived at the area so early, I ended up eating a breakfast at McDonald and waited for the morning fog to disappear before entering the park. The parking alone costs $20 before paying for a round-trip summit sky ride to the top hill area. I found the view at the top is not the main attraction but the quartz dome itself is worth seeing. The Confederate monument is also an impressive piece of work. The memorial hall except the gift shop was closed that day so there was not much to see besides the Stone Mountain. I did manage to visit their lake area and found the surrounding scenery beautiful and calm. The lack of crowd on a weekday is a different kind of experience from a weekend trip when this place must be more packed. If I will be in the area again in summer, I plan to look into this park again and visited its restaurant for some southern food.

Insanely expensive. Over crowded. And they RUINED the laser show. The drone show SUCKS!!! They cut off half the field that the kids would run and play in. Absolutely awful. I was insanely disappointed.

Visited Stone Mountain Park with another couple on August 12th and were terribly disappointed. We were never advised when we paid the full price of $20 for parking that when we got inside the skyride was not operating, the train was not running, and all of the restaurants and gift shop were closed along with all water fountains! While we walked a couple of park trails, we certainly didn't get $20 worth of park. There should have been a reduced parking fee to say the least, and we should have been apprised of all of the closures.

This was my first time visiting Stone Mountain, and I absolutely loved it. I went with my sisters in Christ, and we hiked up to the top together. I’ll be honest — the hike was a bit challenging for me, but I’m so glad I did it. There was something really meaningful about taking it one step at a time and encouraging each other along the way.
The views from the top are incredible. You can see for miles, and it truly makes you pause and appreciate the beauty God has created. It felt peaceful and awe-inspiring all at once.
I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the trails and the rest of the park. There’s so much to see and do, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Worth it and was a good experience to visit this place. The nature of the place is amazing. Our family and friends like us too much. If you have the opportunity take advantage, you will not regret, you will leave in love with the place. It's a pity that we didn't have time to explore everything we wanted because we arrived late, but next time we will go more calmly.

We enjoyed the walk down the mountain and the museums. Get there early or buy tickets ahead of time if you want to play in the snow.

I really enjoyed visiting stone mountain during Thanksgiving break. It is a nice place with many activities in Christmas town. Stone mountain itself is a good place to visit and hike. The view is really nice. I liked the surface of the stone, it looks like the 🌕 moon. During this time there were many activities for kids and it wasn't boring at all. The cable is good way of transportation, nicely organized so crowded place was not annoying. God place to visit. One day is enough.

Highly recommended. One of the most beautiful trips I have ever done. Incredibly great selection of things to do, from mini golf to climbing park, dinosaur exhibition, restaurants, playground and even a ride on a fantastic train around Stone Mountain.
The amazing laser/light/drone show on offer in the evening is breathtaking, words cannot describe it, unforgettably great.

Bring lots of money.
We were there Saturday, so crowded had t park 1 mile away for village. Charge for everything. Laser show was free in the past. Now you can’t even get to grass lawn to view the carving in the day, laser show $20 each 15 minutes.
Pup put golf $20. Drive into park $20. Tram to top $20. Train $20. Coffee at laser show $6. Honestly Disney seems like a bargain. Greed Mountain 😢

SNOW MOUNTAIN Review (Stone Mountain Christmas)--We went today, and there is definitely potential to be a great family outing around the winter holidays. BUT...since we have enjoyed Stone Mountain in the summer with our kids on several occasions, we found the winter/Christmas experience we had was...lacking. We planned to arrive 3 hours early and just wanted to do one of the other attractions (Summit Skyride) and a couple of 15-20 minute shows before our Snow Mountain night time Galaxy 2 hour tubing time, then spend a couple hours eating dinner and checking out the lights and possibly other vendors/attractions in the Crossroads town area. (For perspective, a full day would be too long for us, I figured 6-7 hours would be adequate, and that is about the limit for what our girls could handle before getting pooped.) COST: We spent around $170 for 4 tickets and $20 parking pass; our tickets were for Christmas/Snow Mountain combo at a discounted rate through Groupon so regular price would be significantly higher. NEGATIVE: Parking--don't bother to pay for a parking pass in advance if you think it will save time/money--you wait in the same line as everyone else to get into the park and have to pay an additional $10 to get "premium" parking (which seemed to include any of the main lots that are within reasonable distance of an entrance). After sitting at a crawl for almost minutes to get through the entrance and another 15 to pay to get into a premium lot, we had a little over 2 hours before our snow tubing time. POSITIVE: We went to the Snow Angel show first and it was great for our girls--sweet, charming and interactive (great for kids up to about 8 years old). NEGATIVE: The Holiday Caberet show was cancelled last minute during the only time slot we could attend due to our tubing time (If you are a momma who likes to plan like me, you will feel my frustration with this one). NEGATIVES: Extreme wait times; poor staffing. Summit Skyride was NOT an option at all for us, because the line was backed up out into the parking lot and the estimated wait time was over 2 hours...really?!? Our girls were not happy (but we could not justify paying an additional $15 per person for VIP when we had already spent $200 for 4 tickets and "premium" parking). At Snow Mountain, 1/3 of the individual tubing slides were closed during our session so the waits were extremely long--so long that we got to make 3 runs during our 2 hour session (SIDE NOTE--literally none of the staff checked our bands or passes throughout the day, which probably accounts partially for why the lines were so long 😔). In the snow play area, the attendants at the kiddie slides we used really served NO purpose--when we were there, two sat at the top of the slides and chatted (providing limited oversight and NO assistance to the children getting on the tubes), while there was pretty much a free-for-all at the bottom of the slides to try to get one of the 10 tubes for the (literally) hundreds of people trying to use the 4 slides at that part of the snow area (no line, no organization, no staff to regulate or give guidance = chaos). I try to teach our girls to be polite and use manners, but I finally had to step in and assist because other kids and even parents just kept stepping in front of them 😬. FYI Parents, there is no time limit for access to the snow play area, so it was insanely crowded and you literally have to stay on top of your kids to keep track of them--standing along the fence to keep an eye on them playing from a distance is not a possibility (to clarify just in case, we love to engage with our kids, but they their energy level often outlasts ours so at their age we generally feel comfortable letting them play independently sometimes as long as we can see them). POSITIVE: The whole complex is lit up with festive lights at night--it is impressive, enchanting and beautiful. The Skylights Spectacular lights attraction was cool, there was fake snow falling in one section which the girls LOVED. But they are not nearly the caliber of Lake Lanier or even Life College, and sections of lights were out consistently (not something kids would notice, but it takes away from the experience for adults and [real talk, here] made me wonder why they can't maintain everything when people are paying such a high price for admission 🤷♀️). NEGATIVE: The BBQ restaurant ran out of most of the beverages, and there were no lids for cups (seems like a small thing, but lots of kids are a bit picky about what beverages they will drink, and we couldn't let our girls carry around open cups because obviously they would potentially spill them on their clothes--or other people 😳). The self-serve candy in the Sweets Shop was a mess, half of the containers weren't labeled or were missing scoops/tongs and there was not an employee in sight (so you can imagine what unsupervised kids had been doing when they wanted candy that was missing the scoop 👐🤭 😷)--and this section takes up a whole wall of the store so its a significant area to be neglected. Another snack vendor we went to later could NOT accept cash (because he was out of change) and we were not informed until we made it up to place our order after standing in line for 15 minutes. Honestly, the majority of the staff seemed lackadaisical and ill equipped to professionally handle the heavy crowds and resulting challenges (possibly because they are seasonal employees and poorly trained). In the end, I would give it a 5 out of 10. Obviously, I am only sharing our experience, which was limited to the attractions and vendors we visited. But I would definitely recommend going when it is NOT a holiday--I want to believe there can't possibly be ALL of the drawbacks we experienced on most regular days. Even though our experience as parents was disappointing, our girls are mostly too young to have noticed the negatives (other than the long waits) and still had fun. Just wanted to share to give other parents a friendly heads-up 😏

Stone Mountain Park's $20 car entrance fee grants access to stunning views from the mountain top via a scenic tram ride. While affordable, the tram can be crowded, limiting visibility of the engraved mountain. To enhance your experience, consider arriving early, exploring other park attractions like the waterfall or wildlife areas, or visiting during the week to avoid crowds.

Last visited over 25 years ago….stayed in the RV park this time. Now $20 just to get into the park and then more charges. Everything seemed confusing and expensive. We do not have children but what we saw seemed overdone and many things were not open and no one seemed to know why, when etc. Trying to find out schedules and happenings, prices etc was close to impossible. One of the check-in ladies at the RV park was the most helpful. The laser show was fun but no idea what it was about except pumpkins and kids characters. I remember it being much better and patriotic. Would have been great had they added a patriotic song or two. The Grist Mill was good. The train was in repair. Historic Square worn down and needs some TLC. Cable car great (extra $25) to the summit – that was the highlight with all the great views and walking around on top. The carving is just incredible with a great history to learn. Won’t be back but visit at least once if you have never been.

The Christmas event was nice however I wouldn't recommend the snow tubing. The snow runs were rough and the sudden stop at the end very rough on back.

We visited on a Saturday. Surprisingly the park was not crowded. The staff were all friendly and very informative with the attractions.

We stopped into Stone Mountain on our way through Georgia. We didn't have a lot of time so we drove around the mountain, then took the cable-car to the top - walked around for a bit, then came back. We ate our picnic lunch then left - we would have liked to be able to spend more time. A little pricy - $20 for the admission then $32.40 for sky ride.
It is a beautiful place. There are lots of walking trails.

Do not waste your time getting the adventure pass during the COVID restrictions. Very few things to do and not worth the price.

Beautiful park, amazing granite mountain with cable car ride and view. Great snow activities for all especially at Xmas time. Fun activities for kids. Basic food places within the park but we didn't eat at any of them. Loved the polar express theatre and snow angel performance. Dress in layers and warm clothes as there are nighttime activities. Enjoyed it.

September 24 2021
Park is terrible. We paid almost $120 to get in for 3 of us. We were told everything opens at 2pm. Here we sit with 3 things open. So I stop one of the employees and he tells us they are way under staffed and hopefully by 5pm more employees will show up so more stuff will open. Terrible experience and in 2 days this has been the most expensive boring vacation. Don’t waste your money. We will definitely never be back.

Our family stayed a few weeks+ at the campground to be close to Emory for medical care. As avid campers and Georgia natives we were excited to experience all the park has to offer, but we were disappointed.
-The campground pool was closed.
-The “beach” area is posted “no swimming”. Also from afar it looked completely closed and visibly unattractive, however upon walk up it was open, yet run down and unkept.
-no wading or swimming around the lake shore in the campground.
-Attraction passes are expensive and one day only. A multi day pass for campers would be nice
-No paddle boats, kayaks, paddle board rentals on-site. Must go to a REI rental off-site.
-No fast pass for gate entrance for campers and annual membership holders. The entrance gate line can back-up quick with daily visitors paying & asking questions. This is frustrating for those who have already paid and leave the premise frequently.
-attractions are expensive and closing hour is too early especially during summer months. All attractions and shops closed between 5 & 8pm and the laser starts at 9:30pm. 1.5 hour or more of
downtime. Some shops had closing signs for 9:30 however closed early.
-limited dining options.
-dining inside crossroads is only available to attraction ticket holders.
-laser show no longer included in park entrance fee.
-Laser show extra fee and due to this a big ugly fence has been placed along the side of the lawn where the sky bucket is. We were not aware of this and entered from the crossroads entrance. My husband is weak and easily fatigued due to a medical issue and this caused a problem as he walked across the lawn only to find he’d have to walk a higher incline than planned for. He made it but could have been avoided.
-the laser show was disappointing. Kids could not follow the story as it was too mature. Most of the history was removed from the show.
-The ride the ducks attraction is gone.
-The Ferry boat attraction is gone.
-website does not offer full attraction schedules, such as train departure times, 4d theatre show times, shop hours, restaurant hours, etc.

We stopped at stone mountain on our way to the Ashville. We enjoyed our ride to the top of the mountain on the skylift. We watched the 2 movies at the museum toured the 2nd floor of the museum. We went across the road to the historic square where we toured very old buildings and homes. We were very fortunate to meet Joey who works there and got a wonderful guided personal tour. He was very knowledgeable and informative about all of the buildings. Luckily I had called ahead and found out that the museum and historic Square were open. It stated on the website that the skylift was the only thing open. Unfortunately the people in the ticket office were not selling the historic pass that included the 3 areas to tour skylift, museum and historic Square. We shared the information with others that day so they upgraded their tickets. So make sure if things are open get the historic pass!!! This is a very informative and interesting pace to visit to learn about history!!!

This park is way overrated, commercialized and outrageously expensive for what it offers. For a family of three, we had to pay over $100 for tickets and then had to pay $20 to park. The sky tram was broken. We didn't see the toilets that were supposed to be on the way in the walk up the mountain. The restaurant was closed at the top of the mountain and there were no restroom facilities. When we went to the village, there was a huge line with no explanation of what it was for. When we got to the front of the line it was for checking for fever for Covid. If checking temperature is so important, why wasn't there a temperature checker at the base of the mountain when walking about the mountain? There is nothing of interest in the village - not even any good souvenirs. The sculpture on the side of the mountain is deeply stained and rather ugly because of the stain. Our advice is stay away from this outrageously expensive tourist trap.

Just my husband and I went on this trip (no kids) - so this review is just based on us as an older couple: Rating in order of best to not so good: 1) Drone and Light Show - absolutely amazing!! Will go to more! 2) Stone Mountain Campground - amazing! 3) Mountain and Tram: good to see - only need to do once. 4) Railroad: OK - more for kids - but ok. They weren't open until an hour later than scheduled time. 5) Miniature Golf: Fun while waiting for the railroad to open 6) Historic Square: The hours online said open 11a -- 5pm. They were closed all day. 7) 4D Theater: Again hours said open, but not. Overall: It was "ok". The majority of the staff were not helpful, couldn't provide information, were slow/lazy and not very helpful. Will be back for more drone shows and special events like Daisy, Scottish festival etc

It was nice to see Stone Mountain. We arrived very early and paid the parking fee of $20 (which is a little steep imo) but it's a lovely place to walk around.
There was a lot of construction work going on so you were not able to get into the park area as it was fenced off. The gift shop was understaffed and I waited about 20 minutes just to pay for a fridge magnet.
We did not take the Skyride to the top of the mountain as we were on a tight schedule and the weather was a little hazy so we didn't think it would be worth the money. I'm not really sure (or interested in) the other attractions, but it's a nice place for long, peaceful walks if you arrive early.

It had been a few years since I'd been to Stone Mountain, and I had forgotten how massive and breathtaking the park is. Tucked away nicely just outside of the hustle and bustle of the interstates and busy thoroughfares is this multi-acre park with hotels, a carrillion, the historic square, the world's largest relief carving, historic exhibits, golf courses, hiking trails, a lake, the skylift (closed for maintenance), and attractions. Note that some attractions require a ticket, while there are also plenty of other activities such as picnicking and cycling that don't require any fees.

Kayaking on the lake in Stone Mountain park was an amazing experience - tranquil, relaxing, amazing alternate views of the mountain, and who knew there is also a golf course.
The processing experience was seem less and as we went earlier on a Sunday morning we had the lake to ourselves, plus the geese.
If you love the water and a peaceful and tranquil experience, this is a must!!

It’s been many years since I’ve visited Stone Mountain Park and it was a great as my last visit. The Dinosaur Explore area was a huge hit for my son. Great information given on each dinosaur throughout the area. The animatronics were realistic as well. The Village area was very nice. Good food options and shops. The only shop which was closed was The Christmas Shop. We really enjoyed the tram ride to the top of the mountain. The conductors provided some facts about the mountain’s history which was nice. Views at the top are stunning. I would highly suggest you take time to go either, either by walking up or taking the tram. We enjoyed the train ride as well. It was relaxing and to take a bit of time off your feet. I do wish that there were facts given by the conductor on further history of the mountain such as how it became and maybe the first people how lived around the area. The reasoning behind the carving and who was involved with completing it. That would’ve been quite interesting. Overall, it was a great time and I highly suggest anyone make a trip to the park.

Read the bad reviews and then decide if it’s still worth going - these reviews are totally accurate and not exaggerated. Waste of money unless you want to spend $35 each to go to the top of the mountain in a very vivid unsafe cable car ride.

The park needs better signage. Spent a LOT of time walking around looking for things.
The maps were not very helpful.
Also spent over an hour in line for the train. It would be helpful to know wait times in advance.

The park is great for young children. It is best to buy the special "buy one get another day for free". I do not know if the general pass for two days is worth it.

I grew up not to far from Stone Mountain and have been able to really enjoy all aspects that this park offers.
Depending on the time of year, different park options will be available or more convenient.
To get the most out of the admission to the park, plan for a long day. Bring all your dining and beverages to help cut costs and use the many areas of the park that provide picnic areas. Fishing is also available but ensure you have the proper state permits to do so.

Family visit for a night to see the laser show, and a visit the following day for a hike. The laser show was quite chaotic with some patrons blasting music and other ignoring the distancing requirement when purchasing a ‘square’ to sit in. Many families appeared to be less interested in the show and more interested in partying. Brought our own food in, and able to enjoy the show. A hike the following morning was great! We hiked put the peak with our school-aged kids. Warm morning, but worth the trip. Given the number of people, surprised there weren’t bottle filling stations.

Use to go to the park all the time when I was younger. Now they have changed the laser show to cater to the newer generation. I will not be coming back.

The 57th Annual Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain Park has been voted one of the top arts & crafts shows in the nation by Sunshine Artist Magazine, a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society. This year, there were over 400 artists and crafts people showing their work. Works included arts & crafts using fur, porcelain, wood, fabric and fiber. Also shown is furniture, glass, metal work, jewelry, candles, oils, soaps and mixed media art, photography, and sculpture.
All of this is coupled with a fresh flower and plant garden, live music and a food court and beer garden for relaxation. The festival ran from September 4 – 7. We had a great time. The food was not your normal burgers, chicken fingers, pizza, corn and fries. It included ethnic foods from South & Central America, the Caribbean, India, Japan and Vietnam among others. Most of the vendors stalls were located among forested sidewalks and visitors were able to remain cool throughout the day. Also, there were open-sided tents with picnic tables set up for food consumption and an amazing amount of “clean” Porta-potties spread out for ease of access.
As mentioned above, we had a wonderful time and were entertained by high school bands and orchestras in addition to rock bands and vocalists. The festival was extremely well organized and well executed. We will return next year.

Overpriced tourist trap - do not waste your time! We paid $20 to enter the park for parking and then discovered that the main part of the park where most of the restaurants are located weren't open until 2pm and we were there around 11am. We didn't want to wait 3 hours for lunch, there is a place to eat next to the skyride but it was overpriced. The skyride was extra $20 per person and the main amusement area was $45+ depending on the package you pick per person. The only thing that is free is hiking up the mountain. Wish we had researched this more as the history of the KKK influence on this location and how the park was influenced by slavery and treatment of blacks is awful - don't understand why anyone supports this place and goes here!!

We stopped here while traveling to take the hike up the mountain. All facilities were closed due to Covid19 but the trails were open. It was a $20 fee to enter the park and it was very crowded. Restrooms were open but nothing else. People were generally quiet and left one another alone. The trail is very interesting and different. There are places on the trail where people with mobility issues may have trouble, but generally an easy hike. The distance is perhaps a mile up and mile down. Maybe slightly more.

This park looks really impressive. Beautiful nature, carving on the mountain looks impressive. We were only disappointed with the light show. We were sold the tickets to the show with the snack version and then literally 5 minutes later the show was called off and we were not paid back or even did not get the snacks for kids. If you know that the show is going to be called off why you sell the tickets and inform us that we will for sure have the show and snacks?

When we got to the gate, our money was taken and we were basically turned loose. It took us over an hour before we found somebody - not park staff - the tell us how to get to where we could actually see the carving. No help WHATEVER by staff. Nothing else was operating - only won weekends - and at least one area we wanted to see was blocked off. Total waste of $20.00 because the park staff was entirely missing. The pictures we took, at a distance because getting closer was blocked, were not worth the hour+ of aggravation.

What a surprise to discover this place in Georgia! We were visiting from Europe and friends from Atlanta brought us here for an afternoon visit, we were impressed. The Skyride lift is easy and fast. The 360* views at the top are incredible!

Our journey with Stone Mountain Park began in May of 1985 when we first moved to metro Atlanta. This iconic attraction, steeped in history and natural beauty, captivated us. Introducing our friends and family to this gem became a tradition, making it a highlight of their visit to Atlanta.
As a family, we purchased annual passes and enjoyed everything the park had to offer. We took groups of students there whenever we had the chance. The addition of Crossroads was an added benefit for everyone.
I understand Dollywood was responsible for constructing and managing Crossroads and possibly even the park. The park was elevated to a new level of entertainment excellence during their tenure.
It has been a while since we have been to the park. Our youngest granddaughter is all about dinosaurs. So naturally, we decided to take her and her older sister to the park. We had a few other family members decide to tag along. I purchased the Dino Fest Attraction Tickets + VIP Tickets. Costing over $200. I thought this was quite pricey for Stone Mountain Park, but my 2-year-old granddaughter really wanted to see the dinosaurs! My mistake was thinking the VIP passes included a meal. No, it does not. That was an additional $150 +. Where is the value in the "VIP" portion of the ticket?
I was surprised when we entered the Crossroads entertainment area. Everything looked worn and had not been maintained to the previous standard. Some of the dinosaurs were damaged, showing the yellow foam inside. Trees were cut down and left to rot. With a few exceptions, the majority of the staff was not as welcoming as in the past.
One of my family members who lives in another state said, "This place looks like it is going to close soon. They are just waiting on the word from the parent corporation to close the gates." I couldn't put my finger on it, but she was right. The park looks like it is in its final days of operation.
I hope I am wrong about my impression, but if things continue as they are, don't be surprised when they announce the closure of Stone Mountain Park. I see no reason even to pay the entrance fee to go back. After 39 years of being a "must-see" on our "to-do" list, I don’t see any reason to return to the park.

I had been to Stone Mountain years ago when I was a child. Back then the park focused on the Memorial carving on the mountain and the history of the civil war. The park had just expanded the campground and my parents’ setup our camper on one of the new sites. While playing with my father’s metal detector I found an old, corroded Confederate “CSA” belt buckle from the civil war right there at our campsite.
Fast forward to July of 2025 and I take my wife to the park. She had never been and was excited to go and learn about the battle and history of the area. When we arrived, it was instantly clear that this park was no longer managed as a historical location. The were no markers explaining anything about the carving or the men on the carving. There were no markers detailing the events of the war that took place there. There were no flags from either army units north or south.
We were there for 7 hours, never saw a park ranger and no one spoke about the war, the history or the men on the carving. The “laser” show had been changed in 2023 after a 40-year run. The new program is some horrible display of low budget animation projected onto the carving with random fireworks going off while 30 to 40 seconds of chopped up songs are blasted over the speakers. I was as stunned as much as I was disgusted with what the show had devolved into. As we looked around, everyone over the age of 30 seemed to be looking around trying to figure out exactly what the heck this prestation was about. It was clear that the Park had turned its back on the founding principles of what Stone Mountain had set out to be and was now attempting to be a “theme park” focused on diversity while completely ignoring if not actively trying to mask its past.
The park is being operated by a bunch of young 20 something-year-old kids who all seem as if it is a huge burden for them to have to be there.
My wife best summed her experience up by saying “If you don’t know before hand that this place has a historical significance you will come here and never know there was a battle here. This place reminds me of a cheap county fair.”
So in summary…..
As a Historical destination it has been butchered down to a ranking of 1.
As a theme park it might rank a 3 on a good day.
Hopefully some less selfish people will come into authority over the park and return it to it origins and reestablish it at a historical location.

I started coming to Stone Mountain in the mid-80’s with my parents. We could spend the day at the zoo, riding the ferry and then getting ice cream in the shop there where you’d catch the ferry, sun bathe on the beach, ride the horse drawn carriage, shop all year long at the Christmas house, ride the sky lift and train. I repeated this experience many times through the years when my husband and I married and started a family. Family outings finishing with the laser show was a summer activity we looked forward to. This past weekend, it was a sad ride through the park as we realized all of the above has been closed and run down besides the sky lift and train. The new entertainment attractions do not compensate. The sense of pride in the park is also lost as we realized not one employee-even at Evergreen where we stayed-smiled or seemed to enjoy being there. I don’t know what has happened to the park but a 40 year tradition in our family is officially over. It is not the same and with the exception of the nature and natural element of the park, it is nothing special. Only go if your expectation is the same as visiting any state park.

Got a great deal on Passes for four. Did the Skyride, train, mini golf etc.
Lots of shaded areas to walk. Drink and snack stations very conveniently located.

Please don't waste your money here. From the start you pay $20 bucks to park and 35$ entrance per guest which would normally be ok, however on our visit 90 percent of the attractions were closed (why not close the gd place then.) Oh but don't worry if you like to be solicited by people selling time shares that bull$@#* was open. The food was trash, everything tasted dry as hell, most likely bc was sitting under a heat lamp for hours. We paid extra for the laser show which was pretty cool but only if you pay attention to the lasers and fireworks and not try to comprehend the story that was complete nonsense, lucky for us there was a surprise thunderstorm that shut it down and we could leave the early.

Enjoyed the ride to the top of Stone Mountain, enjoyed the park and mini golf, overall we had a good time even as it probably was one of those things you do once and never again

The park was beautiful and the scenery was amazing. It was very peaceful and had a lot of history. We rode the scenic train(no extra cost)and did the sky ride(at a extra cost). It was a nice family getaway but there’s not much open but they don’t tell you that until you get in the park and see for yourself. The lady at the front where you purchase tickets was rude and did not give us much information. She informed us that the sky hike was open but she did not know when she said “some days there open some days they aren’t”. There is nothing “scenic” about the scenic train. You go through a bunch of trees and around a big mountain that you can see from the ground. I would suggest brining something to drink or a light snack because you can’t get it there. None of the shops or stands are open. This being my first time at the park I was not impressed and we will not be returning until Covid 19 is over.

My daughter and I came from NC to check out all the Stranger Things filming locations. One of the locations happened to be in this park. At first I was a little upset about having to pay $20 for admission just so I could get a picture of her on some train tracks. That quickly changed when we got inside and I realized how much stuff there was to do at the park. We could have literally spent the entire weekend there. It was gorgeous. We will definitely be making another trip to Georgia just to hang out at the park and ride the gondola things up the mountain.

The park is open rain or shine, which is nice, but if you purchase your tickets online in advance like I did, keep in mind that they do not run the sky tram thing nor the train if it rains. So, we wasted $280 (non-refundable, for our family of 5) because even though we checked the forecast, it happened to rain on the day of our visit.
If you’d like to blow $300 (parking is an additional $20) to look at granite likenesses of confederate traitors, maybe you will enjoy it. We found it all a little ridiculous, especially as the “historical films” kept referring to the confederates as “heroes.”

Scottish games in October at stone mountain park. just listen to bagpipes in the air. pumpkin festival is family oriented. Just prepare for the cool evenings. plenty to do for family and health fitness people.

I went there February 3rd 2025 on a Monday night after dark. The security guy at the gate who took my 40 bucks for a park parking pass assured me that it was open till midnight for mountain biking on the trails, though I had never ridden a bike there. This was not true. It was open till midnight, but not for bikes! I found out shortly thereafter. After realizing that bikes weren’t allowed on the trails at least after dark, I decided to ride my bike around the parking lot. I did not feel safe upon arrival, but I parked anyway. There were people hanging out in the parking lot and some kids that sounded pretty boisterous. I ignored it telling myself that I’m in a popular state park and that everything is going to be fine. After riding for a little while, a girl runs up to me, shouting across the parking lot, asking if she could ride my bike, but I misunderstood her. I thought she was asking if she could turn her car around down where I was because she couldn’t see down there. I said yes. She comes running at me with arms flailing and when she got close, I said no I thought you were asking if you could park down here. She said oh that’s understandable and walked away… after about a minute. I found myself surrounded by three guys sort of looking at me and looking at each other. We were the only people in the lower half of the parking lot in my van was the only car in that half of the parking lot on the down side of the hill. There was no reason for them to be there at all. I quickly rode between them and went over to the top side of the parking lot, where more light and other people were. I stayed there glancing over at them ever once in a while. They just stood around in the same area and came back up to the center of the parking lot at the top, glancing over at me every once in a while and then they finally left after about 15 minutes. They were waiting for me until then to come back down to the lower side of the parking lot where I had been writing where I would be alone and no one could see us down there. I had a brand new specialized bike and I think they wanted it!
I do not feel safe there even though they have security people there.

Money is not a problem for me so with that said the park was dead everything was dirty and closed the one place we did find open to eat was bland why do you open a park but no stands were open I mean nothing but gift shops overpriced junk wasted my time big bend was better

They are letting every thing fall apart, construction everywhere but … people buy food here!!! 🫣🤢 Campground is nice but sites are pretty close together if you’re looking for a larger site, this is not for you!

lots of parking and so much to see and do
we could have stayed all day, but had to be at the airport later
i do need to come back at do more in this park

Beautiful!!! However it is time to open everything back up. Buildings closed, exhibits closed, drink and snack stands closed. Time to open up.

Another great state park to explore alone or together with family. Pet friendly. I visited during peak Christmas week and had a wonderful time. Total of 5 people including 3 children plus a pet. All staff were nice and courteous. Sites were very nice on the tent/pop up camper area. Beautiful views and with hills that in beautiful flat sunny Florida are rare. Big lake for canoeing and light boats, fishing and paddle boarding. Great for mountain biking. Restrooms were very clean and the ones in the RV area seemed almost new. Barbecues and camp fires are possible through fire pits and barbecue grills. All of that inside camp. Outside there is famous Stone Mountain with plenty of activities to enjoy(fireworks, laser show, mountain hiking, etc) Also there is artificial snow for snow tubing activities close by and other shows) The latter could get pretty expensive. Parking fee is $20 per car which is fare in order to maintain such a large park area. There is also a store that sells lots of useful items including snacks and drinks, besides plenty of camping items. In summary it is a great option to consider for camping. If you come with RV or RV trailer then you might feel squeezed since sites are tight. Choose the hill sites and be ready to work a little harder since terrain is not flat. Picnic tables need an update so do grills. But that is minor compare to the beauty of the place. We will return.

We arrived at the tail end of one season, and before the next season got started, so the train wasn't running and there was very little else to do but ride the tram to the top of the mountain and visit the little historic section across the street. The tram ride was great and we spent about 30 minutes wandering around the top of the mountain before taking the tram back down. There's a lovely view of the area and of the city of Atlanta from the mountain top. The historic buildings across the street were interesting, but it was pouring rain when we visited and there were no other visitors even brave enough to venture out.

Parking felt steep, the sign said $20/a visit and $40/annual. They really gouge tourists. The hike itself is great - really burns your calves. The view was also beautiful. There were a lot of people hiking but it wasn't too bad. Take breaks when you need and bring some water. Its an incline the whole time.

Don't come late June afternoon on a Hot Monday everything was closed, everything else cost extra Money. $20 to get into the park, Train was $40, skylift was $15 up the mountain then $5 more to get back down lol Is was mostly a ghost town with 80% of the places closed down. Some decent trails to walk around. I see why they charge $20 to park 1 day or $40 for a year as no one comes back after 1 visit to this tourist trap. Rock City on the same trip was 100x better.

WE JUST WALKED AROUND and took pictures. It was a nice day to enjoy the weather and beauty. We did not o any of the attractions.

Great place to spend a full day.. Skyride to the summit, Dinotorium, scenic railroad all were good.. Polar express 4D show was not that great to see in this park's screen. Kids had really wonderful time in Dinotorium. The parade in the night was also nicely done.

Sone Mountain State Park is a very nice park with several activities for all, but it is a little pricey. A day pass is required just to drive to see the mountain. The mountain is unique and one of a kind. Would I pay the entry fee again, probably would.

$20 parking fee unless you park in town and walk 20 minutes up. The parking fee isn't really worth the hike. Several better options around. Crowded. Good workout but definitely not my top 10.

Our party of 8, with 2 young children, bought the attraction park flash sale which gave us access to the gondola ride to the top of Stone Mountain, and access to the pumpkin fest that was to start at 2 p.m.
After the gondola ride and hike down the mountain (the highlight of the trip), we went to the entrance of the Pumpkin fest and we did not gain access to the fest until nearly 2:20 because the park did not allow access until that time. We were greeted by a 3rd party vendor soliciting “free” vacations, the Smoke House restaurant did not open at 2:30 as advertised, and the staff were generally aloof and could not direct me to a manager so I could express my disappointment.
The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because of the gondola experience and the gentleman who provided the commentary during that ride. I have never been more disappointed in a major theme park operation, that quite frankly, felt like a weekend carnival.

Due to overselling tickets for the sky lift, no direction / guidance while standing in line, insignificant room for the number of people in line over 100 people (elderly, pregnant, tired children, frustrated parents) were locked in a closed building at the top of a very dark black mountain for approximately 30 minutes. Oh, did I mention with basically little to no seating! During the extremely crowded line wait to get back down the mountain several people believing they were privileged in some way took cuts in the line. I personally saw a young 20 something year old couple take cuts without the slightest concern for the people behind them. You pay $20 to park, $10 per person for the sky lift, $40 adult / $35 children to get in the park and they hold you captive in a closed building for a half hour. They know exactly how many lpeople they can get up and down the mountain in a specific time period, but choose to sell more than can be accommodated. And all you get is a “thank you for your patience.” Well, You’re not welcome!!

Laser show was A-W-F-U-L.........i dont have the right words to convey how disorganized, low budget production, 1983 throw back...its like pixar doesn't exist....
completely random story line.....with 30 sec clips of music....there were nods to georgia sports teams, astronauts, the civil war, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, north and south carolina, care bears, yes, care bears...
Mr T, mash, the space shuttle alvin and the chipmunks, a knight dragons and " drone wars
a knock off of star wars.....
it wasnt a history of anything, completely out of order, the employees seemed unhappy to be there,
being our 1st visit we paid for the snack pavilion which included "seats and open snack bar" in actuality it consisted of random placed folding chairs,
a cooler of 3 soda options
and 2 grumpy teens manning a popcorn cart with very salty and poor quality popcorn ...it was advertised as " all you can eat popcorn and soda, but 30 mins into the show they dipped.......
this was a total waste of money approx $125 for familyof 4..... save your hard earned cash
Laser show lacks entertainment, quality and snacks....skip.it.!!!
...absolutely the worst thing to do in Georgia.
I take it back, there was an 8yr girl dancing with a glow stick....she was literally the highlight of the show.

I went to visit the park on Friday 22nd with Out of State family to see the attractions around 11:00 am. The park was open but the attraction was closed with NO sign that state the attractions was closed. I called to the a phone number in the flyer, and they confirmed, attraction was closed from M-F. I went back and asked for my money back because of this and they don`t let me know the attractions was closed, when i asked him I`m here for the attractions. He, was courteous and told he, he don`t even know the attractions was closed, but he cant give me my money back, because the policy of no refund. I asked to speak with the Manager and he just told me, No refund they charge me for the park and park was open. Well, my thoughts about it. If they tell me in advance the attractions was close, i just turned around and leave. I saw A LOT of people out of state in the same situation. They charged the $20 and no refund and they was there just for the attractions. When I was turning around, I saw in the back of the main entrance building a group of sign storage and pile and one of them read : Attractions Closed. Foe sure someone drop the ball, dont inform the guy in the main gate to put up the sign and they just charging a lot of people $20 for parking. That`s not right. The feeling was they steal my money!!!

My family has been going to Stone Mountain almost my entire life. I no longer live in the area but I love to take a weekend trip to Atlanta around Christmas time just to go to Stone Mountain. I really cannot recommend this place enough! If you are going to be in the area I recommend going in the late afternoon and evening. Check the weather and dress accordingly. There is a small village decorated head to toe is gorgeous lights. The photo opportunities are AMAZING! There is a Christmas parade, a fun Christmas train that goes around the mountain playing Christmas music that everyone sings along with, a laser show, many different activities for young kids, and for an additional fee you can go to the top of the mountain to see Santa and the North Pole. The train is an open train so bundle up when it’s cold out and don’t forget the hot cocoa. This place is truly special at Christmas time and a family tradition for sure!!! Be prepared to walk a lot. My parents are elderly and they will probably need wheelchairs next time. The parking is also quite full including the handicap parking that my parents require. I wish the food had some healthier choices but it isn’t something that would ever keep me from going. I also recommend checking the website for discounts. When we went they were having a food drive which gave us discounted tickets. I think we were the only ones that were aware of that. So check the website!! You will also need to pay for parking which is separate from the village experience. There are two different parking areas. The lot closer to the village is very crowded but the ticket lines are MUCH shorter!

We went for the laser light show. We decided we would see if they attractions were open, because it was raining. Glad we didn't buy the attraction pass, some were closed for rain, some were just closed.
The light show was a huge disappointment. It was free in the past. Due to COVID, they are charging. We are good with that, except, upon arrival they are no longer following the 4 per square rule, so we paid for a premium seat, 4 per square, and didn't have to. We pretty much sat in one square with our group of 8. They were generous on the terrace with popcorn and drink, but it wasn't worth the $100 we spent. If they are going to loosen restrictions, they should adjust their pricing. The parking fee was absolutely ridiculous for a state park.
As for the show, we were told they enhanced if because of the charge. The last time we saw it was 2018 and it was so much better than today. The show dedicated about 30 seconds of the 1 hour to the civil war. There was a star wars tribute, an 80s tribute and tributes to famous Georgians and sports.
Overall huge waste of time and money. The park is beautiful, but when we start removing reminders, we will repeat the mistakes of the past. Very disappointed and will not return for an event.

They shut down the sky view two hours early so unable to do.
The wait for the train was an hour and a half
Expensive food
Crowded
Not Worth the money!
Did the zip lining it was fun and great value but staff didn’t go with you so could get tricky for first timers being alone.

This place has something for everyone! Hiking trails for those into fitness, relaxing natural resting spots for those who are not and kid-preteen activities (seasonal adventure courses and theme park like attractions).
This was our second visit to the park and I’ll defiantly be going back again! The nature areas of the park are absolutely stunning and well maintained. Some of the most beautiful landscape I have ever seen are on this property. It’s great for those who want to get away from it all and have a little downtime or spend sometime enjoying natural fitness activities like hiking, kayaking, golfing and fishing.
This place is also prime real estate for a romantic getaway or family picnicking or camping trips.
There are two onsite hotel properties that we saw as well as a campground.
We will defiantly be back!
One notable is that the crossroads section on the park that houses the train station, small shops and restaurants doesn’t have the most friendliest or enthusiastic staff. The food and service in this facilities is mediocre at best and the helpfulness is the shop attendants is non-existent. Ignoring this and keeping to the nature type sections of the park, you surely won’t be disappointed.

This is a beautiful park. Unfortunately the State which owns it turned its operation over to a private profit seeking company. Do you know, regardless of any camping fees, they get you for $20 just to drive in the gate. That plus the minimum $60 RV space fee, and one night is $80. The roads around the park are pretty good, but when you drive into a camping area, you'd do well to have a 4wd offroad vehicle. They are really terrible and poorly maintained. And the RV sites are not very level, and have poorly maintained hookups. It looks neglected, but then, they have your money so who cares? But there's no extra charge for the mosquitoes. After all, spraying, fixing the roads and hook ups would reduce profits. Shame on the State fo not running it as a State park.

Not worth it. Hard to reach if you don’t have a car. Lyft over Uber (because Uber driver’s able to cancel). Signage at the park is pretty poor. We took the tram up and hiked down. Could not figure out how to get to the train because there are no maps or directions at the bottom of the mountain. Learned from our driver that the area has a strong connection with KKK.

Took a trip of parks in Tennessee and Georgia with my dog (an extremely friendly Siberian Husky). This park was praised as being dog friendly on one site, but they apparently haven't gone in the last 10 years. The campground was a MESS with maintenance issues all over the place. Staff was totally antagonistic and unhelpful when they first tried to put me in a tiny unmanageable spot that wasn't close to level and the water spigot leaked all over. And most sites I looked at were no better. I had to pay $20 just to enter the part to pay another amount simply to view the now faded and poorly maintained carving. Dogs were NOT permitted in any of the popular locations (for what reason i don't know). I got yelled at for my dog walking on one grassy area. Then they've turned the park into an expensive "attraction area" with guards that won't even let you walk through the attraction open areas. Many of the open spaces were littered with trash and the walking trails were poorly maintained. Get a new Superintendent please and turn this back into a "Park" rather than a crappy amusement park. I met another family with a dog muttering to themselves ... so this is what Georgia parks have become. I stopped them to agree.

Fantastic small climb... don't take the tram. The views and the work to get there will make it worth it. Great views of Atlanta and surrounding area. Bring water and watch the heat!

Years ago, the laser light show was an awesome experience. Now it’s a total waste of time and money. The laser pics on the side of the mountain are just random, with no theme and no cohesiveness. Dora the Explorer? Power Puff Girls? Random faces we don’t even recognize? But WHY???
Plus we were charged $20 ( the all day cost) for parking, for ONLY the light show, after the park was already closed.

First off, the park itself is perfectly lovely, so the hikes are nice for young kids. The problem with the park is their website and policies for admission into the “attractions”. We just wanted to putz around the little shops and look at the carving, but somehow all of this requires attraction tickets to be purchased. The one employee at the village said we could at least see the carving for free, but then a different employee told us we couldn’t when we got to the area near the carving. Or maybe, during the week you can do some of these things for free and just not on weekends? We got different stories from different people and none of this is clear on their website. We did at least find a roundabout way to see the carving, but again we had to ask around a bit to find out how to do this (it involved parking a hiking a bit). The park just needs to get their story straight on these different things and make their website clearer.

I have never made a review before but the state of Stone Mountain has been pitiful over the last few years. My last visit being the nail in the coffin. My family and I brought a friend from out of state to see the park and show him the laser show. The only part that was decent was climbing the mountain. The train ride although was O-K, paled compared to years before where they'd stop for a little show. The theater was never wonderful but it wasn't open when I was there. There was no other activities. However the worse offender was the sad excuse of a "laser lightshow". I grew up watch the shows over the years and this is barely even qualifies as a show. The only lasers left is the ones that point out into the crowd. The smoke they use in the show blocks most of the screen on the mountain as it plays stock footage they appear to have gotten off of YouTube for free. When not playing stock footage to random modern songs, they have a mesh of AI generated images rapidly being sped through. They don't do anything with the carving. They have drones that fly around in circles for half an hour and to top it off the last time we went one of the fireworks set a tree on fire.
In conclusion don't waste your money. At least don't for the "laser lightshow"

Great place to go and price friendly for a family. Some things they need to do is restripe the parking lot. I parked next a car and a small SUV parked next to me, all centered in their spots less than 18" between cars. My car was hit with one door and I moved to the end of the row noticing the problem in more than half the spaces.
Make sure you get a map, many bathroom signs are non existent in case you need one or your kid does. Direction signs not too great either went around ENTIRE park on directions by an employee at the gate to get to camping.

Visited Stone Mountian recently and was disappointed. It’s $20 to get in which is not bad however, they didn’t say anything about the tram being closed ( that is why we were there) a d we could not get into the general area where the shops are without paying another fee. You can see the monument but it could use a good cleaning.

My wife and son and I spent a few hours at the mountain. We climbed up to the top and really enjoyed the views. Wow was it hot that day. I would recommend visiting this beautiful places.

This is a large park with a reasonable $20 fee per car for the full day. This covers parking inside the park.
There are attraction on the side of the carvings, which means the whole area around it is fenced off and it is possible to see the carvings only from some parts of the parking lot or along the road. To go into the attractions a bracelet is required that would cost 100$+ for a family. We just wanted to see the carvings, so we skipped this. (Although one of the guys at the access point said he would let us in for $10 in cash...)
Instead we drove on to the other side, at the "walk-up parking lot". From there we walked to the top, a nice enjoyable walk with a steady slope. The last bit was a bit steep, but there is a hand railing to help. I imagine care is needed when it's raining as the stone may get slippery.
Great views from the top! We had water bottles which we could refill both at the base and at the top of the mountain.
Next to the parking lot, there is a very good (and free) information centre that explains the geology of the mountain and how it came to be.

It seemed like they sold too many tickets because there were too many people. The admission lines were unbelievably long if you bought online and the employees didn’t seem to care about helping people get through. The lines for every activity and even the restrooms were atrocious. They don’t have enough bathrooms for the number of people on site tonight. The bathrooms were dirty and trash cans were over-flowing all over the park. The employees in the smokehouse restaurant were unorganized and unprofessional…pure chaos in there. The bbq “meat”on my nachos was mostly fat and I didn’t even eat it. The north pole was long and drawn out. Our group felt like it had too many people and we were uncomfortably crowded at each area. The drone show was cool but they should have done fireworks and ended after it because they lost most everyone’s attention…long and drawn out. The walkways are not well lit so might be helpful to bring a flashlight. The Christmas lights throughout the park were nicely done and pretty. We didn’t get to ride the train or play in the dinosaur area. They ran out of funnel cakes and supposedly everything else. We couldn’t finish our game up put-put either. The lines were just too long and it seemed like the north pole took up way too much time. I think it has potential to be great but you couldn’t pay me to go back without guarantee that less people would be there.

We went to Stone Mountain yesterday 12/10/22. We had family ages 8, 4, 3, 2. It had been raining the night before and the top of the mountain view was very foggy.. nevertheless it was fun to ride the Ariel tramway and it goes up beside the stone carving. Did you know the stone carving is 30 feet bigger than Mount Rushmore? At 100 they opened up the 4d movie experience with the Polar Express which had seats like Disney to create the 4d experience with water mist, air effects and snow. The 3d was really good..the kids loved it! Then we rode the train which had Christmas songs to sing along and monitors with the words of the songs. They also had a woman in the little town that told the Christmas story with the nativity in nights..loved it..the true reason for the season. The kids loved the dinosaur building with antimated dinosaurs and air projected soft balls. We left for lunch at the Dwarf House Chick Fil A close by and came back just in enough time to see the parade. I wish the parade was more than one time a night. It had about 4 floats and they were elevated so all could see. Then we watched the drone/laser/firework show. It was amazing..Disney quality presentation against the Stone Mountain. The children were entralled with it all for 40 minutes. If you want to see Santa go early..the lines were super long. The trees were all lit up and it was breath taking. It was one of the best trips we've had. I actually found a $25.00 deal on Groupon that covered all of it except parking. The normal admission was $39.99.

Walk up trail was rough, the sky ride was down, the entire facility including bathroom down after an hour hike and the water fountain was off. Bottom line I will never do this attraction again nor do I recommend it to anyone.

Big disappointment, overpriced for what they offer. Not everything is open. There are no actual restaurants in the park anymore, they only have burgers and hot dogs. It was not busy at all and that may be because it's expensive and nothing open. Park open at 11, shops open at 3 if at all. Only a couple of attractions open. We went to the top of the mountain and there were these very young kids playing there explicit rap music very loud and it was very disrespectful. I wish I could say we had a great time but unfortunately we did not. If you want to take your kids somewhere fun this is not the place. They do offer military discount.

We were very disappointed on New Year’s Eve. We purchased the VIP tickets and they were sold to us knowing the major attractions were closed all day. We were not told that until we paid and got Inside. In response a no very kind or polite supervisor informed us there would be no refunds and if I wanted a voucher I could get back in line for over 1 hour again to receive it. Being over 8 hours away we could t come back and we were told too bad. So while I waited in line to get at least a voucher they continued to sell these passes to folks, streamed it in their info TVs outside etc. knowing non of those rides were up and working. When I got to the front of the line with 100s of other angry people I was told I could not get my refund until all family members gave me their wrist bands. That was hard to do because my family was stranded on the top of the mountain and could only walk down (4.5 miles round trip) because their summit rose was broken. 😂 So we sent 350$ for one round of mini golf and no refund for anything In sight. We will definitely not be back.

Hate to say it, but this "show" was beyond bad. My kids fell asleep. the drone show was completely underwhelming and uninteresting. The music montage sounded as if a 13 year old learned how to use an editing program the week before the deadline. the visuals were horrible - a mix of 3D computer "art" and AI generated garbage.
the most interesting thing we saw was the Starlink Satelite train (look it up!) crossing the sky before the show started.

We were here over 30 years ago and a lot has changed such as more attractions, hotels, campgrounds, etc. but especially the attitude of the employees, not all but a majority of the ones we dealt with, were disrespectful and lacked knowledge of anything other than their specific job. They even commented that they got off at 5pm and didn’t care to know. Two employee girls got on the sky ride and would not get out of the seat to let elderly people sit who had paid for a ticket. There needs to be better training so guests have a great experience. So if you go, be aware of the disrespectful attitude of this new generation of workers. There was no management to report too. So sad.

First time visitor. Surprised they were charging $20 to park on a Wednesday when the only thing open is the view of the mountain and the sky ride. Train was closed, museum was closed. The park has more to do on the weekends. We did enjoy the ride up to the top on the skyway. My wife was here in the mid-70's when the carving was fairly new and bright. Today it is weather stained, hard to make out details of some of the carvings. Still something to see!

We spent 200 dollars to get into the park at 10:30 the attractions you pay for aren’t open until 11:30 and then half of them were shut down. You couldn’t go into the museum. Why even have it open!!! Why pay 200 on a trip which is crazy expensive by the way for 4 people and then have my child cry because he couldn’t do anything he was excited about doing. I’m very disappointed.

We went to Stone Mountain Park for a family day. We enjoyed the Skyride and the train plus walking/ hiking around the park.
However, the attractions have been poorly maintained and so many things were closed or not working. The 4D theater had no shows available on the Saturday we were at the park. The Geyser Splash Pad was open but the water features were not working properly for the most of the afternoon. My kids were able to play in the stream and beach there, but the water features only worked for 5-10 minutes. Both of the restaurants (Big Rock Cafe and Campfire Smokehouse) were closed and never opened which meant limited food options inside the park. Most pizza and snacks.
The Dinotorium was a huge disappointment! It was so dirty, the staff barely spoke and most of the features were not working. The majority of the features that move the foam balls around the building did not work, only 1 of the slides was open, and generally everywhere you looked something was broken. The baskets are broken and hanging from the walls, the balls are stuck in areas that you can't access, and the floors were so dirty that my littles hands were black from just picking up the foam balls. None of the educational features with the dinosaurs were working and the only 1 of the animatronic dinosaurs was working. My kids enjoyed the air guns but they were bored quickly since none of the mechanisms to have the balls brought to the 3rd floor were working. That meant multiple trips up & down stairs since again, no slides. The 4th floor was a complete waste as all you could do it walk around it and walk back down the stairs since all of the slides were blocked off.
Overall, our family loves to be outdoors so we had a good day, but we wouldn't waste our money on the attractions again.

Went to the park on Christmas Eve and whet tubing on Snow Mountain and played in the snow. The kids loved it. The park was beautifully decorated. The lights on the buildings and the trees were so detailed. The parade was short but sweet. The train ride was a sing-a-long. Our autistic son had an amazing time singing all the Christmas songs. We had a really awesome time. Mother nature was good to us this day because the day before the 24th and after it, it had been raining, but we got the most beautiful day. We will definitely visit Stone Mountain again.

We went because we were visiting family and this was a great option to spend time together - for tweens through to young adults and their parents. It was a busy time of year being close to Christmas so the VIP pass was a must, for a one day visit, to get to do everything. The "snow" slopes were a hit however you need to be fit, to carry tubes up and then take the bumpy ride down.

Lovely place. Excellent cable car to the top. Beautiful views. Friendly staff. Opens late so lovely sunset. Needed more time than I thought.

When we arrived at the main entrance, there was no line to purchase tickets.
We were there mainly to ride the skyride to the top. It has been many years since we had been to Stone Mountain and did not know that there might be another entrance to get only the skyride tickets. We purchased the Stone Mountain Park All-Attractions Pass Tickets at the Main Entrance and the Skyride for the additional $5 per person. At the time we arrived they told us our ride would be a 3:30 pm. (Meaning we had an hour before the ride).
We took a quick bathroom break and quckly walked through the park to the skyride line.
The line went all the way out to the street (NO ONE WAS SOCIAL DISTANCING). There were no employees walking the line to give any direction. As I walked down the line I asked what time the people had for their ride. Half way down the line it was 3:30 pm, then 4 pm and I still hadn't reached the end of the line. I was so frustrated since it appeared we not be at the front of the line in time for our assigned time. We we so disappointed that I walked back to the office at the main entrance to request a full refund. When we got back to the front ticket windows, there was a very long line. I walked up to the greeter inside the gate and eplained what I wanted and why. She told me I would need to wait through that line. WE LEFT. I do not recommend until they make some changes.
Need to provide full disclosure of what is and is not open as well.

This was our first time visiting Stone Mountain. We were here for a family reunion. We had a great time. We went only had time to go up the mountain. It was so beautiful. I wish we had time to ride the train and watch the fireworks but we didn't. It was 4th of July so the park was packed and we could see the fireworks as were leaving and they were great. I definitely recommend this place.

This is a great place to bring families for a day. Lots to do and most things are included. My kids had a great time. The only reason this was not a 5 star experience is about 20% of things were not open or available for some reason. It’s July and kids are out of school, people are traveling and on vacation, so why wouldn’t everything be available…

So much to see. Stone Mountain Xmas very festive and nicely lit up after dark. ~30min Train ride is probably much better after nightfall. Tram reservations early are wise, cuz if you decide to hike UP (1.5 mi rocky terrain) and decide you need to catch a ride DOWN, if they’re sold OUT you’re OUT of luck (which we booked online in advance & saved)
If you’re anywhere in the GA surrounding area, this monolith/geological formation and natural wonder is a must see, must stop.

Wow! What an amazing experience! We camped for a week and enjoyed all of the amenities. The campground was great! We loved all of the hiking trails, the shows and especially the Drone/Laser show! When buying your ticket make sure you look at the options. We did not and ended up spending more than we probably had too but we don’t regret anything we did! Also don’t miss the Waterfront. They have kayak, paddle board rentals. We rented the foot pedal Kayaks and we had a blast! We also took the boat tour and really enjoyed that as well. I would love to give a shout out to Dee! Her and her staff were so friendly and accommodating! Come early to the waterfront and play foosball, ping pong and connect four while you wait! Not renting anything? It’s beautiful just sitting outside by the water. They have chairs and you can even fish!

Very cool place with lots of things to do and see. The mountain is incredible and the views are amazing. We opted for the skylift to get to the top, but there’s a very steep trail for those more in shape or looking to get a workout. The gate person and skylift operator were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of history in this very neat park.

We purchased the attractions band w/ meal deal for the two of us, the sky ride, and the parking for $90. We begin the day by riding the train around the mountain. We played miniature golf. We visited several of the shops. And we tried to watch the 4D picture but halfway through, they had technical difficulties. The ride up to the top of the mountain was a bit crowded for my liking but we still had some place to hang on to. I believe the top of the mountain was my favorite part. I had wanted to stay for the laser show but it was raining. About to bring my kids back sometime.

We drove the RV up to spend an early Christmas with the rest of the family. Stone Mountain has a large RV complex that is color-coded based on amenities. We drive a 32' Class C towing a 14' enclosed trailer for our trike. Had never been there before, confusing signage which is not lit at night and undersized, and basically toured the whole place before finding the RV park. We got in just before dark, found our spot, and were really disappointed. It was a water view pull-through, which was okay, but the pavement was badly cracked and uneven. It was so bad I had to use leveling wood and towels to protect my ramp on the trailer so we could pull the trike out to use it. In order to get the trailer level enough to function, we could not position the RV right so we could never extend the tip-out and were cramped the whole time.
The location is perfect for being close to Atlanta and the surrounding areas but you have to be careful about site selection. We spent some time a later day driving through all the different RV parking areas, found some better pull-throughs, and will be reserving those in the future. Stone Mountain has a lot to offer, was clean, and well maintained. The RV restroom facilities were in great shape and there is even trash pick-up for each site each day. They just need to invest in some upgrades to their sites so everyone can enjoy the complete experience. They charge premium prices for sites so we assumed we would be getting a premium -quality site.

We spent the day and evening here on Christmas Eve 2019 as our extended family had celebrated the holiday earlier in the month. The park is small but well done and was decorated wonderfully for the Christmas holiday. The entry fee for just park entrance (did not include snow tubing or other snow activities) was quite reasonable and DID include the sky lift to the top of the mountain as well as the train ride. We enjoyed strolling the shops and visited the historic village just a short walk across the street. The village could have used more costumed employees to increase its appeal. The entertainment in the park was not of the greatest quality in our opinion as singers were off key and actors a bit amateurish...but ok for the price. We enjoyed the train ride w/Christmas carols sing-a-long after dark and were VERY pleased to have the Biblical account of the Christmas story included along the way! However, wanting to do the train ride after dark to enjoy the lights kept us from seeing the park Christmas parade which only happened at the same time...seems those time schedules could be worked out more adequately to allow patrons to enjoy both. Our worst experience of the day came at the evening's end when we attempted to get funnel cakes at the upper level shop across from the train station...they took FOREVER! The line was long and the service VERY slow (apparently only one fryer was working) and they made no compensation for the very long wait. Places to sit were non-existent as we waited. Seems to me a price deal would have been appropriate especially considering the size of the crowd on that particular night. The fireworks show was nice but VERY short. Also we were disappointed that the snow features took up the lawn area in front of the mountain carving area...we expected a spectacular laser show ON the mountain w/a Christmas theme and the lack of it was disappointing. All in all we enjoyed our day and would come again especially after leaving Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area where the cost of everything was $30+ per person even for the smallest thing. We got all day in the park at Stone Mountain for that price!

First of all it was completely packed and you could not stand anywhere and my grandma is in a wheelchair and people just walked in front of her in the line at least fifteen people that didn’t even speak English and no one limited the amount of people that could be there and no was one watching the line so then we finally find a spot and they tell everyone to leave before the show starts because of a little rain then 20 minutes later if that never gave us any kind of signal or anything so I go back outside and apparently you have to get on the website and it tells you when it starts back so I had to get us some seats packed in with at least four other family in a tight space and we watch the show and the light show was absolutely terrible worst I have ever seen I wish they kept the lazer show but the fireworks where amazing but the staff was also very rude and inattentive please take bringing back the laser show into consideration from what I have read no one likes it and it’s a waste of money only good thing was the fireworks very disappointing sorry Stone Mountain.

came on january 2nd from out of state, understand that it is the beginning of the new year, but there was no announcement online or at the entrance when buying a ticket that most of the extra attractions were going to be closed. (only thing open was the skyride) Staff were respectful but never able to answer a question without an “i dont know,” extremely unhelpful. Besides that, the park was clean.

Going to the park is a great experience. This was manufactured before modern equipment came through. It has a lot of detail. But the best thing at the whole park is the view of the city and surrounding areas from the top of stone mountain breathtaking.

one of the most liberating and breathtaking experiences, is when you reach the top of this mountain! Very stunning views all around. definitely put on your sturdiest sneakers (preferably with some grip at the bottom) because some of the stones can be a little slippery . Bring water and towel too, because you WILL sweat. Overall very nice, I cant wait to come back and explore more of the park

I have an annual parking pass and have been enjoying the hiking trails. However, now that the light show is running in the evenings, you can't make the loop around the base of the rock because they close the part of the trail that runs by the lawn. There is no signage indicating how to complete the loop without using that part of the trail. It's a good thing I had a GPS app with me and was able to figure out where to go - but I ended up having to walk a bunch of random back roads, cross through the park administrative offices, and walk through parking lots to get back to the trail. Why not have signage here or warn people that they can't make the loop during the summer?! It added almost an extra mile to my hike!
Also, the new light show - yikes. They finally got rid of the weird Confederate homage - but have added a lengthy section of Christian worship music! Is Stone Mountain a Christian venue now? My spouse and I are not Christians, nor were the multiple Muslim families seated around us. Why insert religion into a secular show?
The sound quality for the light show was terrible. You couldn't hear anything clearly because of the poor quality of the speakers. The section where they showcase Georgia artists now just has Usher, Outkast, and...Toni Braxton, who isn't even from GA. No Ray Charles, Little Richard, REM, B52s, Indigo Girls...Weird. We had to sit through a bunch of commercials projected on to the rock as well.
Also, even though we booked tickets to the show online in advance and had them on our phones, we couldn't use them to enter the show. We had to go get in line at the Skyride ticket office and show our tickets to get wristbands to enter. Why not just scan our tickets at the gate? Not sure how this convoluted process works on a busy night.
I'll give Stone Mountain 3 stars for the hiking trails alone. The light show and general organization of the park are...ugh.

View from the top and cable car still awsome,.....but the other attractions and food, a real let down. First they hit you with a 20 buck unexpected parking fee, when you've already bought simi-expensive attraction tickets on-line (with no mention of paid parking.) - But real problem is, I'd been here before several years ago, and place was awsome!,......it had great food, lots of options, clean well kept attractions, lots of free live entertainment everywhere outside, "RIDE THE DUCKS", Foam-ball kids barn,.....and on and on. - now in 2021 however, it had Run down, unkempt Mini-Golf, Train ride with very little naration and no wild west mini-show along the ride, a 4-d effects theater with most effects shut off for covid reasons, No live entertainment whatsoever. No arts and crafts for kids, Foam ball attraction closed, no "Ride the Ducks" an ok Dinosaur walk through exibit. and mostly closed and abandond restaraunts. and most disappointing of all, the famous souther fried chicken restarant is now a fast food counter with microwaved chicken fingers. this whole "village" is just a sad forgotten shadow of what once was great, but is no-more. ( Still goto the top of the mountain, but don't waste you're money on anything else, till it get's back to how it once was.)

Our family visited during Christmas break, it was perfect to complete our snow fun. They had a snow park with tubing for the entire family, a place to play with the snow and other fun attractions. They have a scenic train around the Stone Mountain and a 4D theater. All decorations and light shows were fantastic. We also used the Skyline tramway to go to the top of the mountain, which was really fun to do!

It’s so sad to see what the park has become, it was once a place where families could gather and picnic, watch the laser show and enjoy a bit of fun on the laser lawn before the show. It has slowly been changed to a “charge” for everything experience, the “Light Show” replaced the laser show. The Laser Show use to celebrate and reflect much of the good or Georgia, now it barley mentions Georgia and has removed any historical references. It sucks in comparison, who ever thought this was good should be fired and never allowed back in the park, another woke management decision which is failing. The current show is boring and reaching for meaning and relevance. The drones are nice but not utilized in a way of making a “WOW” moment.
The Laser lawn use to be a fun place for kids and adults to throw a ball or frisbee. No more it now resembles a prison camp I assume to keep people from escaping the horrible light show that now cost money. The Laser show use to have applause and cheering, patriotic, reminding us of how a divided country was re-united. Now there is no applause, no cheers it’s been replaced with silence and sighs of boredom.
What once was a Georgia State Park has been privatized, striped of its importance in history all at the expense of Georgian’s. Maybe it’s time the Georgia Legislature to step in and remove the agreement and return the park to the people of Georgia.
To end on a positive note, I did like the fireworks,, they are always fun!

Neat to see such mountain. The Park was very empty. The campground was very empty as well. There are 2 roads that take you around the Park. We paid $20 to get in.

While an Amusement Park is an amusement park - Stone Mountain includes history and activities for all ages. I sang every song on the “Polar Express” musical train (yes, I’m a goofy grandma!), and the gondola ride to the summit was nifty. I especially enjoyed seeing all the stone graffiti carvings done in the past - I wish I could read them. The food concessions no doubt leave something to be desired - but we weren't there to eat - and many others did bring their own picnic baskets/goodies to enjoy. We didn’t actually visit Snow Mountain, but got to see the good time everyone seemed to be having. We had a great time - and are looking forward to returning in other seasons as well.

Our day trip was during bad weather, lots of fog. We took the cable ride to the top and couldn’t see anything. Exploring the grounds made up for the foggy conditions. I’m wondering when the engraving of confederate traitors will be removed from the rock. Having those generals who fought against the union on full display is an affront to our Democracy. Once and for all remove them.

Too much rush and we had to park a long way away from the entrance. Most attractions were closed. But the Glass blowing shop was open and the demonstration was excellent. Polar Express movie 4D show was great. Fireworks at 9PM (Kids version) was not much of a show either. Lots of fun stuff for little children.
Overall good.

Picnic area was very nice. The stone Mountain rail ride is a joke. Will ride you around a ig Dirt hill with confederate soldier carved in it. looks like the Soldiers are fading! The little town on rail ride is in disrepair, needs painting. Lot of dead Trees on rail ride just laying about! Very disappointing, totally not worth the money. Its a MONEY Pit! Stear Clear!!

You have to visit this beautiful park. It was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. They followed the rules set by the CDC... and we felt very safe. There’s plenty to see and lots to do. We were greeted by the staff at the entrance with smiles and great conversation. Thanks to Valencia and Michelle for making us feel very comfortable!!! The train was great... we really enjoyed the Christmas songs sing-along. You can tell the female Conductor really enjoys her job. You have to visit!!!

We are at the Christmas celebration , very nice where you can enjoy this beautiful time of the year. Merry Christmas……..

A single giant stone remains from the period of glaciation, out in the middle of nothing but flat land (see picture). You can get to the top, visit the local museum at the carved portion.

The park is very expensive. Just under $50 per person for an attractions pass. The attractions pass permits you to ride the sky lift, dino play area, lazer show, 15 minute movie, the rope course, and the skylift to the top of the mountain. While the list online makes it seem as if there is plenty to do, there isnt. When we arrived there was not a single person at the check in windows. We seriously just walked straight in the park. It wasnt until we needed wrist bands that we went back to the main gates and had to find help. Wrist bands are giant bumper sticker sized sticky bands that go around your wrist. They were so uncomfortable to wear that we didnt wear them. we kept them in our pockets. The dino area was very worn, dirty, littered with trash, and very old and outdated. But my small children didnt mind. The sky lift to the top was a quick little ride that was enjoyed. the view of the stone wall was beautiful. The views from the top were very nice. But we were attacked by thousands and thousands of little black stink bugs. ALL OVER the place. but the park has little control over that. Concessions at the top were not in operation when we arrived. The young man said that he had ran out for the day. Coke machine was not working but they were stocking a fridge with bottles of soda for sale. But it was all hot. When we descended the mountain we noticed that there were alot of upset people. The train was no longer working and at 4pm they had closed the rope course early due to staff shortage. The water play area was also partially under construction and wasn't entirely useable. Within the next hour the entire park was shutting down due to weather. We went to customer services for assistance. As I waited in line I overheard the 2 people in front of me receive partial refunds for their passes. I expected the same. When i approached the desk the clerk informed me that they could no longer issue any refunds because they are only allowed to issue a set amount per day. And I guess the two men in front of us were the last ones to receive that courtesy, it seemed unfair. All together my family paid over $150 for 6 of us to enter the park, spent over $145 on tee shirts and a christmas ornament, all just to be in the park for for 2 hours, walk the dino trail, and ride the skylift.
Go it’s a good time
Extremely entertaining for all ages. It had everything from laser show to a train ride. We went during Christmas Show, every show talked about love and joy, Very positive experience!! There was a toy store for kids and a Starbucks for parents.
