Just Okay

By Ken A |

We booked two seats in the first class car with swivel seats for 11:00 on a Monday. Check in was fast and efficient and the bathrooms were immaculate. Several shops open for gifts, souvenirs, and food. We boarded about 10:40 and our car was full. Narration during the trip out which is about 15 minutes, 5 minutes to switch the locomotive to the other end of the train, and then 15 minutes back in so you see the same scenery two times. The car was spotless and the swivel sears were very comfortable. Other than an occasional bit of smoke, nothing to distinguish you were even on a steam locomotive. The best part was the view of the farms and activities along the tracks but was a little disappointed by the experience. It was okay but no reason to ever do it again

Worth the Ride

By Bernard G |

It was an experience to be back in the old time riding steam engine train through the Amish country ! We picked the Open Air train but still has roof top cover. It was nice with fresh air and warm breeze! The ride was confortable and no motion sickness. We took the 45 minutes ride and it was narrated along the way to go to Paradise ! Highly recommend!

Get On Board!!

By Lois L |

Took my 20 month old grandson and a reluctant Grandpop for this train ride.
We all loved it, the train ride (we did open air and it was the greatest, but be prepared as it is open air), the shops, (not outrageously expensive) and the exquisitely refurbished locomotive. TootToot, coming back soon.!

Don't waste your money.

By Debbie H |

Santa was rude, making people move around, not talking to the children not saying ho ho ho very grumpy guy. There are no carolers on the train carolers singing on the train, making it all festive. Mrs. Claus was nowhere around the whole thing stunk waste of money.

Good Date

By Go11103597811 |

Took lady on a date and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Booking was easy and train was on time. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Cool but look at all options before booking

By Shannon G |

Seeing the train working we felt was more exciting than the ride, it was cool, dining car experience is overpriced and you have to pay for water/soda ON TOP of the initial price once there. It was cool just wish we did open car instead to save $ as the dining care was not worth it - (Waitress was great though!)

Wonderful day with Steam trains.

By jbk33928 |

Great, fun day. Do not miss if you are a rail fan. The coach was clean, comfy and took us back to yesteryear. Terrific entertainment while we waited and excellent narration.

Train Ride with Santa!

By Audrey M |

What a great time for my grandson's 5th BD! We reserved seats in the "president's car" on the holiday train ride and had a personal visit from Santa! The staff (especially Santa!) went above and beyond making the experience one me and my family will never forget! Thank you to all at Strasburg Rail Road!

Just All Good

By Deb A |

Strasburg Rail Road really runs a great operation. We selected the dining car for lunch. We took my 6-year-old great niece for her first train experience. It was truly all good. Easy reservations, easy check-in, fun ride, tasty food, and very pleasant staff. Even the restrooms were immaculate.

What could they fix? Not much. They could use a better PA system on the train. It was difficult to impossible to hear the riding commentary over the train noise and people talking. And maybe an additional bathroom on site as there appeared to be only one at the far end of the station and it was a bit of a walk (but as noted, it was super clean.)

Note that there was a bathroom in the dining car train but it is tiny. Rather like an airplane restroom. Probably not much you can do about that but if you happen to be a person of larger build, you might be out of luck. But given the ride experience from boarding to return is only about 1 1/4 hours, if you go before you leave, probably not an issue.

Everyone had a great time. Especially our 6-year-old. We will return.

Where is the Headless Horseman?

By NorthStar41291197458 |

This event has very little to do with the Legend of Sleepy Hallow. Personally...save your money. From the pre-stage show of musical numbers such a "A cast a spell on you" this entire event needs to be renamed. I was very confused as to the direction the cast was going with the story. The train ride was just a disturbing with the "characters" roaming up and down the isles in an attempt to scare. Icabod Crane nor the Headless Horseman were characters. Again...save your money. This event is misleading as to what one should expect.

Love the "Great train ride!"

By Robert G |

Took the dining car option and really enjoyed it. Views from our seats were excellent. Great trip with plenty to see and fantastic views!

From Cleveland to Christmas Cheer: Our Train Ride of a Lifetime!

By Alisia F |

We drove all the way from Cleveland, Ohio (6 hours!!) to ride this train, and it was an incredible experience that will surely become a core memory for my boys. My 3-year-old is obsessed with trains, so instead of having a birthday party, we decided to spend a weekend away to learn all about trains. Meeting Mrs. Claus, dropping a letter to Santa with hopes of receiving a reply, the Christmas songs, and the nostalgic train ride itself made this experience unforgettable. Santa on board was a wonderful holiday touch! We also enjoyed a smaller train ride after the big one, which added to the fun of the day.

We arrived 45 minutes prior to boarding the train, just as the email recommended, allowing us to partake in all the fun Christmas activities.

A quick tip: Book a later train ride to avoid the crowds. We chose the 3 PM train, which worked out perfectly; we experienced the excitement of having more people around, but when we got off the train, it wasn't too busy, allowing us to enjoy everything else we wanted to do.

Interestingly, I found this train experience using ChatGPT. As a working mom of three with limited time, I turned to ChatGPT to help plan our weekend getaway, and I'm so glad I did! We already have plans to return in a couple of years when our baby is older, as this is something we will remember and talk about for a long time.

Steam locomotive train ride

By Kevin S |

We enjoyed our 45 minute ride through the Amish countryside aboard the 1st class lounge car. Being on an authentic steam powered locomotive and hearing the bells and whistles at each crossing was amusing... the people we passed along the way generally smiled and waved as the train passed by. Would definitely recommend for anyone who is a train enthusiast or just a fun train ride with the kids.

Show needs improvement

By Inspire11608829629 |

The preshow and post show for sleepy hollow was fine but the train ride was disappointing. We couldn't hear much so we were lost with the story. There was also too much down time when nothing was going on.

Excellent train ride

By Ben K |

The views were amazing. The kids enjoyed the time on the train. Very friendly staff as well. Highly recommend going.

Cozy, leisurely trip

By Vivien A |

Cozy and leisurely trip in the First Class Parlor Car Marian. Velvet period seats and furnishings. Light snacks and drinks. Scenic Amish countryside.

Great Day Out

By BateyBoy |

This is a great way to spend 2 or 3 hours. The whole thing is very well organised and very thing is spotlessly clean and well-maibtained. The staff were all enthusiastic and friendly.
Our train (we booked the lounge car) was very clean, with plenty of room for each passenger. The seats in that car swivell 360 degrees so it's easy to see everything.
The area around the station is worth browsing and there was a stage with vaudeville acts performing.
All in all, a great day out.

Must do

By Nancy M |

Whole experience. Discovering the Red Motel. Nice shops everyone from kids to seniors will enjoy!!!!

Amazing Ride

By John H |

Took my three year old grandson and went with other family members. The kids loved it. I thought it was one of the highlights of our vacation. We have been traveling to that area for over 55 years and it seems to get better every time.

Good for a rainy day.

By Daybb |

Nice little trip if you love railroads to sit back and have a coffee. No excitement here.
A bit expensive for what you get.

All Aboard!

By Susan A |

HIGHLY recommend " All aboard!" this charming historic train experience! The station is located among a small stretch of quaint shops and eatery right in the middle of Amish country. A variety of train cars are offered to suit a wide range of preferences, each car with its own pros and cons. My group booked the open windows car since it was summer (had a roof in case of rain). The seats were wooden and could flip to face either direction.
Pro- spacious open windows afforded great views and a constant breeze. Con- most popular car with children who, understandably, verbally expressed their excitement to be on a train throughout the 45 minute ride making it difficult to hear the tour guide. If traveling just with adults, I recommend the plush seat car or diner car. Windows are smaller but, more than ample to see the scenery, seats are more comfortable and it's much easier to hear the tour guide.
Regardless of which car you choose, the 45 minute scenic ride on the historic train is worth every penny!

Dreaming about trains for days after this trip!

By Patricia A |

What a beautiful train! We went back in time for a moment. Looking out on the beauty of the farms was a dream. The attendant in the first class parlor car was so professional. The seats were luxurious. Didn’t want it to end. What a glorious experience.

Great fun and informative

By John K |

We took our son’s family to the Strasburg Railroad for our grandson’s 7th birthday. This was our third visit…once as an adult couple, once with my older parents, and this visit with family including young children.

Each visit was a lot of fun. The train ride takes 45 minutes and runs through beautiful countryside. There’s an opportunity to exit at a fun looking farm with lots of things for young people to do.

The folks working at the railroad are friendly and informative.

When you visit, be sure to visit the railroad museum across the street. Visiting these two sites is a fun filled day!

A great time with the whole family.

By Paul A |

A great railroad, a lot of history and a lot of fun. There is something special about a steam locomotive. They do a great job.

A pleaent train ride

By 697billm |

Nice leisurely ride thru the country side. Got a little bit of history on the Strasbourg Railroad, You get to see Amish farms from the backside. Upon departure from the station the do sell some refreshment on board. They also take your groups picture that they try to sell. The train is pulled by a restored steam engine. My group had seats in the lounge car. Very comfortable with1 seat one each side of the car. On the day I was there they announced a special birthday wish to a passenger.

Highly recommended show!

By Sergio M |

I have no complaints. The Bonnie & Clyde show was beyond entertaining. Kept everyone engaged. The train was exceptionally easy to board. Family friendly.

Dining on the train is a waste of money

By James C |

On Friday, August 4th I took my wife for dinner on the rails. I must say how disappointed I was in the experience. This is touted as a first-class experience and I'm left wondering by who's standards? The picture on your site shows tables set with linens and nice silverware. The reality was a far cry with plain tables, paper napkins, plastic cups, and a tiny salad with only one choice of dressing (ranch served in single-serve ketchup packets). The food wasn't hot and my wife's salmon was a bit dry propbebly from the dish lying around after it had ben cooked. The food (for what little there was) tasted good, but had we not had a good lunch we would have left hungry. I understand that there are time constraints, but this was anything but first class. If I had taken the nearly $200 it cost me and went to an upscale restaurant, I would have had first-class service with money to spare. I am also aware that the trip on the train was part of the cost, but since our car was at the rear of the train. everything that was being said about the area was o delayed by the time our car got to the spot that we couldn't enjoy the tour. We have enjoyed other experiences on the railroad and are always left satisfied. This time, however, the advertisement fell far short of the experience. I almost feel obligated to leave reviews on Yelp, Travelocity, and others so people really know what they are getting for their $200.

Great train ride.

By Carolyn G |

The railroad was a great experience. We purchased tickets on line and checked in without any hassle. Our train ride was very nice. We sat in the first class and it was very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and informative. We will be visiting again.

Luncheon Train Ride

By Anne F |

We had a delightful lunch train ride in the dining car with a provided lunch. We each had something different, and we all liked & enjoyed what we had, barbecue tacos, veggie burger, and cubanos. We would definitely recommend the ride and the food.

Experience History!!

By B. L |

What a wonderful experience. We rode in a First Class car. Seats were so comfortable and swiveled 360 degree for the best views. Car was air conditioned and drinks and snacks available for purchase. We highly recommend taking the trip. So much fun!!

Always has been a great experience

By Luke N |

We come here every year on our annual family trip. Always a great experience. We came on October so we were able to ride the train twice because of their special Halloween ride. I always love being there because I love trains and so does my wife’s dad. My wife’s mom booked us a tour of the train shop and where they fix the trains. It was so great because we got to go inside the cab of all the engines! Definitely come here if in Lancaster.

A great experience for everyone.

By steveslj |

Have not rode this train in nine years so it was a treat to ride it again. A wonderful relaxing ride through a very relaxing part of the country. Riding behind a steam engine with the chugging, the whistle, and the smoke, brings you back to a more simpler time. The narration by the staff while on the train is educational and fun.

Would not do again

By Kim L |

Took grandkids 7 & 6 years old. Preordered lunch for 2 kids, 2 adults. Ride was boring - all we really saw was corn. Difficult to hear narration & food was horrible. Hot dogs& barbecue were cold. Cookies burned to black. Waste of time & money.

Relaxing ride!

By AngCino |

Went on the train ride that offered the luxury seating with wine and cheese sampling!! Loved it!! It’s a 45 minute ride, it’s relaxing cool and comfortable!

More than just a train ride.

By Simonsaysholiday |

The train ride is great but it's the whole experience of the train station that makes it a really great experience. They have musical theater performers who are very professional and a lot of fun. All of the staff go out of their way to make it a truly memorable experience. A Cafe etc too.

Excellent ride!

By Kristen T |

Very wonderful train ride with great scenery! Gives you a synopsis of the railroad's history and the surrounding area. Highly recommend!

Steam Train ride

By G T |

Great experience for children. Well run, friendly personnel. The whole facility looks great. A real jewel in beautiful Pennsylvania Dutch country.

Authentic and Fun

By KCsunshine2023 |

We rode in the open air car. The views of the farmland were beautiful! Very reminiscent of an old fashion train station and the train ride is as authentic as you can get today. Would definitely do it again!

Strasburg railroad

By Turk R |

Always a great time the equipment is an excellent condition the staff gives a true railroad experience

Great history but short ride

By Laura |

The ride was very relaxing and the history of the train was so fun. We enjoyed the open air car. It has a shaded roof and it was fun to watch the farms as we passed by. The length of the ride itself was disappointing as it was only about 20 minutes long each way.

Nice ride.

By bobbyripe |

Although it was enjoyable, we were disappointed. It was so highly recommended we expected more. Very short ride in each direction, around 18 minutes each way; the return trip is exactly the same in reverse. The train is beautiful and comfortable and everybody was extremely friendly and helpful.

loved the steam locomotive

By Ron T |

I love trains - always have! What an experience getting to ride in old restored rail cars with a 101 year old steam engine powered by coal! We opted for the first class parlor car.

First class ride

By Amy C |

We totally enjoyed our ride on the Strasburg Railroad. We chose the first class car and loved the beautiful authentic details. The tour was fun and informative. The service was fantastic.

Wonderful and relaxing train ride

By Robert L |

We went on the wine tasting trip. Wonderful trip! All staff were very friendly and helpful aboard the train. Scenery was great and wine was great. We also arrived early so we could enjoy browsing the railroad museum and enjoy an early dinner outside the cafe before boarding. A wonderful experience and will do again for sure!

Strasberg Murder Mystery Train Ride

By jtlee23005 |

If you are visiting the Amish Country, and you are looking for something to do, consider booking a ticket on the Strasberg Railroad Murder Mystery. It was a fun time. The ride is on car 88, which features a bar, comfortable seating, air conditioning, and food. The storyline is that someone gets murdered and you will have to guess who is the killer. Although the whole ride is 45 minutes, you will be intrigued to guess who was the killer. Unfortunately, I guessed wrong! This is not suited for young children. I give 5 Stars.

You must ride this train.

By Tom_Expedia_Travel |

What a great way to spend a couple hours. The fact that it is the oldest continuously running steam train should be enough, but everyone went above and beyond to be sure I enjoyed the experience.
I did choose the upgraded service and it was well worth the additional cost. The car attendant was friendly, fun and excited to have us aboard.
I have already raved to many friends about this trip.

Hostling Tour

By Diane G |

My son and I did the Hostling Tour. My son and I absolutely loved it. The person giving the tour, you could tell really enjoyed his job.

The best railroad

By giselle m |

Love the rail road and the country side it wasn’t crowded on a Sunday afternoon but lovely . I can’t wait to go back and ride in he fall

Beautiful scenic train ride

By Michele M |

This train ride was beautiful and relaxing. The Amish countryside was stunning. I'm from AZ and haven't seen this much green in a long time. It was a wonderful way to spend time with my brother and his wife who live in PA. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys kicking back with a cocktail and enjoy the scenery.

Great fall day of rail fanning

By Scott M |

Rode train and did the shop tour. Shop tour was very informative and train ride was very good and scenic. Austin the tour guide was awesome and very informative. Purchase tickets in advance to keep from waiting in line other than to check in

Bonnie and Clyde experience, so much fun!!

By melaniespicer |

We love to ride the train and have done Legend of Sleepy Hollow and this past weekend Bonnie and Clyde excursion. Very well put together production for both special events and just a beautiful, relaxing train ride on a normal day. Great times at Strasburg Railroad!!

Great Christmas Fun for the whole family!

By Rob S |

Twas the night before Christmas Train ride was wonderful, get the First class car (#118) if you can. The swivel plush seats are awesome!

Don't miss this!!

By Kelly S |

My mom and I climbed aboard the Strasburg Rail Road and were immediately harkened back to the 1800's. The spacious car was reminiscent of days gone by; with a gorgeous blue ceiling and wood. Our car boasted a working stove to comfort passengers into the Fall and Winter months. The ride was smooth, the commentary was interesting and amusing, and the long, open stretches of Pennsylvania Dutch Country left us wanting more. The Strasburg property included an adorable ticket booth, restaurant and shopping. A must for your itinerary!!

Spur of the moment booking!!!

By Carlos |

We had a nice relaxing train ride taking in views of the countryside. We were taking a farm tour when we saw this train cut through the fields and we looked it up and booked a ride immediately for later that afternoon. We sat in the open air car which was great but there is a closed car as well. We'd definitely go back and maybe check out the murder mystery option and the train museum across the street

Great Train Experience

By Danny R |

I rated 5 out of 5…..Beautiful. The atmosphere was great the employees were excellent and the wine & cheese experience on the train was unbelievable!!!

The Best Christmas Gift!

By Rebecca G |

We rented a club car and took our 3 adult children, their spouses/partner and 6 grandchildren. It was warm and cozy with a potbelly stove, a Christmas tree, hot chocolate, and cookies. We all dressed in matching PJ's and had a ball! The carolers and instrumental entertainers were wonderful and friendly. Santas was funny and fun! Highly recommend this experience!

A fabulous day!

By Michelle H |

A fabulous family day at the railroad. The commentary by the engineer was fabulous and the open air car fabulous!

A trip back in time, for Locomotive Fans alike

By CFR |

We wanted an authentic steam train ride through the Pennsylvania countryside and had read about the Strasburg RR.

So we booked a parlor car for the old time feel and hoped for a nice trip.

The train depot is a nice experience with an authentic recreation of an old time depot. We liked the choral singers who added a nice touch while waiting for the train to arrive. If you want to eat there is a nice Cafe there, to grab a bite. And, best too, if you are hungry as eating on the train really is not time worthy.

The train itself is a true steam engine, which for locomotive aficionados will thrill them. And, there is a nice history you will hear about on your along in the train.

As for the parlor cars, they are gorgeous and very comfortable to ride in. A step back in time. The ride itself is nice a total of only an hour and a half. It really is not that long, as you you to and then back from the same point. But, the farms, and scenery is nice to see and you do hear a nice history of the train and railroad itself along your journey.

It is a trip well worth the ticket, and a magical event.

Highly recommend Strasburg Railroad

By Nicholas Walters |

Strasburg Railroad is always the best railroad. The crew is amazing and the food in dining car is great too. See you soon!

Magnificent place to visit

By Janice R |

We arrived early, and are so pleased we did! Saw the earlier train leave the station, then had time to experience all the shops. It’s in a great location, nice and open, clean and tidy. Checking in was easy, clearly explained where we needed to be to board. It was fantastic seeing the train leave, all the effort in building up steam. The carriages are beautiful. We had booked a premium car, Linn W Moedinger, and it was a good decision. We sat on the right side of the carriage, nearest the platform. The views off the train journey are amazing, wonderful rolling countryside. There is an amount of information given during the journey which is enough, and helpful. All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and I’d recommend if you’re in the area, have the time, and any interest in steam engines, railway preservation, or just something different to do, book a ticket and pop along! The effort and private funding that goes into keeping projects like this running merits every bit of support from the many visitors .

My first Train Ride!

By Teresa L |

The trains in the museums were so well maintained along with the museum itself. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. I especially enjoyed the train ride including the lunch.

A train lover's paradise

By Diane D |

Though we have visited the Amish countryside a number of times, we have never rode the Strasburg Railroad. We were so happy we decided to ride the railroad on our recent vacation. The train brought us through the beautiful farmland. We sat in an open air car, which we found delightful. We saw many working farms, animals and in particular dairy cows. The views were splendid. The traditional conductors were on the train and the ride was the promised 45 minutes.
At the train station there was a small restaurant, gift shop, lavoratories, and there was even entertainment as you waited for your train. The entire area was very clean. There was a train museum and some train stores within walking distance. This was an enjoyable afternoon for all ages.

Anniversary Experience!

By Theodora H |

This was our first trip on this train, we planned this as part of our 40th anniversary and was accompanied by our friends four more couples. It was a smooth ride, we heard the history of the train station and the route that the train travelled. Beautiful scenery of farms, we pasted the Cherry Crest Adventure farm, it looked like a fun place to visit family friendly. And the train offered drinks and snacks to purchase and the staff was very friendly. I also appreciated them taking time to clean the train between rides, before the next group of guests boarded. Looking forward to visiting again.

Absolutely wonderful.

By Barbara A |

Went on the wine and cheese train ride. We’ve done it the last 3 years in a row. Absolutely love it. It is a great experience. The young lady who runs the ride is fabulous. Highly recommend.

Entertaining and informative.

By Daniel S |

I found the Hostling Tour very informative.
Later we took the round trip train to Paradise.
We are making it a yearly event.

Celebrating life

By gfish27 |

The wine and cheese experience in the club car was superior to any other train ride that I have had. Being able to sample before the "pour" was a very nice touch. We all wished the ride was longer. Thank you

Beautiful Restored Train

By Greg K |

A very pleasant ride thru history and beautiful Amish farmlands. In a beautifully restored locomotive and coaches. Would highly recommend.

Great time!

By Lori W |

The Strasburg Railroad is a spectacular experience for young and old. There are train rides, murder mystery, Bonnie and Clyde, vaudeville, toy shop, general store, cafe 1832, and special events. You can get a mechanical shop tour too!

Great day

By Mbtur |

Great fun with 3 yr old; just long enough to keep him amused. Clean, well maintained, staff friendly and knowledgeable .

Great family fun

By Kathryn G |

Went on a Friday morning, booked a regular enclosed train car but beautiful day and all windows wide open and very few other patrons on board. Had 3-5 yr olds, a 2 yr old and 14 month old. The conductors were helpful, pleasant and made our time thoroughly enjoyable. Little side show and small shops there. Geared towards family. Take some little snacks for the trainride!

Nice Fall Experience

By A. Tennyson |

My best friend and I decided to add this stop into our adventures on a Friday afternoon. We bought tickets when we were about 10 minutes away from the station, it seemed like the perfect warm/fall weather so we opted for the open air seats, as I like to take pictures with my Nikon camera (fall pictures are my favorite). After parking in the parking lot, you need to walk across the train tracks to the other side to find the lamp post check in point. Personally, we felt like the signs from the parking lot didn’t explain where to go. When boarding the train, sit on the side closest to the station, you will see more on the ride. The train rode us by this place called Cherry Crest, well lets just say we plan on bringing the kids back up to the area for a fun filled day there as well. I’m not sure if there are tour options to see the other cabooses in the storage barn, I know there is a Thomas the Train caboose, which would have been a cool thing to see in storage. We did not look into this option as we had other plans, but families with younger children would enjoy getting to see Thomas even while parked.

Please support the Strasburg Railroad.

By Nicholas Walters |

The Railroad is always the best everytime I come. First time riding the Night before Christmas and Paige was excellent doing the night before Christmas story. The food in the dining car is always good and I enjoy taking photos of the food whenever I ride. Thank you all and can't wait to ride with you all again.

Great fun for all generations.

By John G |

I took my wife and two grandchildren with their parents on the Train ride with Santa. All three generations had a great time. The train is very comfortable the length of the ride at 45 minutes is perfect. In addition, everyone from the person at the ticket window, to the hostess on the train, to the entertainment on the train to Santa himself were fantastic. A great experience for all. Merry Christmas.

30 years and counting!

By M H |

We were there for our 30th wedding anniversary and had a great time. We have road some other trains but none this nice. We did the first class cart with the swivel chairs. We were able to order refreshments and enjoy the countryside in the air conditioning. It was nice. I wish it was a little longer. We recommend it.

Great Time. Knowledgable Staff

By johirsh |

I have thought about this for some time and finally did it. Really glad is did. I did the whole package, a ride in the first class coach, the hostling tour, and the sho; tour. Ok the train ride was only about 45 minutes but enough time enjoy a fall beer and see the country side with a nice narrative and enjoy he gorgeously restored train The hostling tour and shop tour were top notch , knowledgable and friendly staff . Both tours were unhurried and actually went into overtime. I would suggest you don't book a ride too close to a tour.
Absolutely an memorable time!!!

Shop Tour

By honest |

Took the noon hour shop tour. Fascinating, educational, and wow for the steam enthusiast. Where does one ever see an actual steam locomotive repair shop? The guide was excellent and knew every detail about the business. One set back was he walked from the waiting area to the first building and to the second building like we were all athletes. Couple of us were way behind and he started his talk before we caught up to him. I know he was on a tight noon hour only schedule BUT? I took a train ride last year. Great way to experience the past.

BEST HAUNTED TRAIN RIDE EVER!!!!!

By Deb O |

I took my 13 yr old granddaughter on the Haunted train ride on 10/25/25. We had so much fun, that she definitely wants to go again next year. The show they put on, with the people in costume, and the skits they do, was AMAZING!!!! While telling historic haunted stories from Pennsylvania, and creeping up on us, made the train ride so amazing!! Hats off to all those who made this ride a truly amazing haunted ride!!!! For my granddaughter and I to be anxiously awaiting next years trip, you truly RAISED THE BAR FOR ANY OTHER PLACE TO TOP THIS EXPERIENCE!!!!! WE CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR!!!!

September 2024 weekend getaway

Wonder full experience to ride behind the N&w 611 J-Class engine again

By JimSeabrook_Maryland |

Most interesting 5 mile steam train trip pulled by that monstrosity wonderful N&W 611 J CLASS 73 YEAR OLD ENGINE, A BEAUTIFUL STREAM LINE ENGINE.

THE ONLY two items that would have given it a 5star rating would have been 1) a chance to get off train part.way thru trip for a photo run by. And 2nd a chance to tour the cab either either at start of day or after last trip of day.

Also i was able to find out if the Strasburg Railroad ever has tours of its steam engine and train rolling stock restoration / maintenance shop.

A Wonderful Ride in Lancaster County

By FF13 |

My wife and I rode the Strasburg Railroad on a pleasant sunny afternoon in October. We have enjoyed this excursion many times in the past and we decided to visit during the fall when Halloween decorations were on display.

We booked seats in one of the lounge cars and thoroughly enjoyed the ride to Paradise and back. Included in the lounge car fare were drinks and snacks. Our attendant was friendly and courteous. She was prompt in filling our requests.

Another member of the train crew provided narration during the excursion.

This is an enjoyable experience and an adventure worth taking for any age!

Fun ride on a beautifully restored train. Friendly employees, the conductor offered to take a pic with my grandchild, put his hat on her, there was an adorable result.

Nice excursion

By Alan s |

Although this is a pretty short excursion, it is very nice. Steam engine and rail cars are pristine and well appointed. Narrator is informative scenery is great... Round trip only takes 45 minutes. Plenty to do back at the station. A very family friendly way to spend a few hours...

Worth the trip

By Ron C |

A great show and great experience! It was a very interactive show. I enjoyed the show as it transcended from the stage to the rails cars. Thank you.

Sleepy hollow made me sleepy

By deb |

Very disappointed in the sleepy hollow train ride, it was very little to entertain you. I expected more than a dark train ride with loud music. And a small skit of 5 min in your train car.

We love this place

By Kevin G |

We love this place. We took our 3 year old grandson and 1 year old granddaughter on the Santa train. Our grandson was mesmerized again by the train so much that we got him a train set for Christmas. We enloyed our ride in comfort in the Moedinger car - we highly recommend paying the extra fare.

We stopped in several places to watch the train pass by and we also enjoyed a number of the Strasburg and Bird-in-Hand attractions

Fantastic late Summer day at the venue

By Bernard H C |

Ride through countryside was most enjoyable. The view of the surroundings was post card like

The station area had plenty to keep you entertained. There was an actual Good Humor man with full product selection in his 67 white Ford Good Humor Truck

Beautiful trains

By Carla G |

Fun little trip. We did the coach seating for just the short 45 minute trip. The train cars are beautifully restored and I guess that’s what the cost of the pride goes towards. It’s expensive when you consider how short of a time you are on the train. About 40 minutes total n

The Great Train Robbery

By Rob G |

We had a great time on the Strasburg Railway. We were able to participate in the train robbery event. This was a fun way to spend the evening. The actors did a great job! Thanks!

Please choose a Santa who Enjoys Children

By Jennifer F |

We have been coming for the Santa train rides for the past 10 years. We normally book the President’s Car and have enjoyed our ride every year. This year we booked the caboose for something different. The kids loved the caboose and it was a fun change.

I am rating this 3 stars because this year we experienced a different Santa than we normally do. He was very rude, he wanted to interact with the adults and take their pictures instead of pictures with my 3 young children. When I told him I didn’t want a picture with the adults but the children, he actually made the comment that he didn’t have a lot of time and he had a lot of other children to visit. He didn’t speak to my children at all, didn’t even ask them what they want for Christmas. My children left disappointed ☹️

For the cost of this ride, and from prior years past, this is the first time that I am not looking forward to coming back and I think that sadly, the Santa train for us has come to an end.

Beautiful experience on a beautiful train

By Peter R |

We’ve ridden the strasburg steam train several times over the years always during the summers. This year I wanted to do something extra special so I booked dinner on the Christmas train in the dining car. The kids and us loved it. Santa was great, food and service was good. Will probably do again in the future. They really keep these old trains in tip top shape. Gorgeous dining car.

Wine & Cheese Train Ride

By H S |

Wine & Cheese Train Ride was Nice. Car was clean and service was good. Wine choice of tastings included Red, White and Rose, but there could have been a touch more fruit, cheese and crackers to go with it. It included a generous amount of your favorite wine in a large wine glass for the ride back. Our party of 4 wished the ride had been longer than 45 minutes....It was a nice night out!

Very disappointed

By Sue L |

Train was cute but not for small children. I had my 2 grandchildren ages 3 and 4 with me. Santa was cute, they got bored very easily. I thought there would have been some music or interaction with employees. The 3 min Santa was with them was probably the highlight. Very costly for just sitting on a train with nothing for children to experience.

Very lame Christmas train

By Tasucks |

The train ride and entertainment were misrepresented. There was only one Carolers walking from train to train for 2 quick Christmas carols. Not Carolers for each train. So it became a long boring train ride with many bored little kids and adults. Trains are not decorated very well. More of an afterthought. Cute train station also could use some entertaining singers or actors to make it seem special. Would not waste my time doing this again.

Nice little trip.

By Ontheroadtogether2 |

As many times as we have been to Lancaster, this was our first time on The Strasburgh Train. We were in a basic car. $40/person. Just a bench seat, but it was very comfortable and warm. It was a very nice 45 minute ride. We had to book a Santa train because of the time of year and they did a really nice job for the kids. It was sold out. Not surprising. Our kids are grown, so I believe we were the only ones on the train without kids. Lol. It was still nice though, seeing the little ones having fun and telling Santa what they wanted for Christmas. Every child got a candy cane and a train whistle. Yes, it was loud. Lol. But the kids were having alot of fun. The whole area when you arrive is nice. Lots of activities for the family, a general store. The train museum is right across the road. We will definitely be returning in the future when we have grandchildren.

Truly amazing and authentic experience, the way to feel the Christmas Spirit

By tuscanywine123 |

Amazing experience. We did the train ride with Santa and he was indeed THE Santa. We went with our children and two year old twin grandsons and it was truly magical. The little town is so sweet with the singing carolers, hot chocolate and min train rides. We highly recommend it and will certainly go back!!

A wonderful holiday experience for the kids!

By Greg S |

We took the Santa train ride for our family Christmas experience with our grandchildren! What a wonderful time we all had! We had a lovely brunch on the train, serenaded by friendly musicians and vocalists, received a beautiful ornament for the kids, and got a personal visit from Santa all while riding the rails!! So much fun! Just wish it could have lasted longer!

Great day trip for anyone who loves trains - and their history!

By KDZ03 |

Our destination was the train ride and the train museum (across the street). Wow to both! The train we rode in is an old train, not a replica. The ride was delightful. There is a commentary that runs while stopped and during the trip with information on the train. However, people near us were talking too loudly for us to hear the stories. Because it was a hot day, we opted for the lovely open car.

A Main Street Village was set up around the train, giving the feel of an authentic train stop from the past. Check out the shops and the diner!

This attraction as almost 6 miles from Dutch Wonderland, a very cool miniature golf course and the Tanger Outlets, making for an enjoyable day/weekend outing for everyone!

Amazing and fun wine and cheese train ride!

By roadrunner |

I went on a girls trip and we were able to take the wine and cheese train ride in the evening. It was such a wonderful and fun experience. There were only 5 of us on the car we were in. It was like a private adventure and we'd do it again on our next trip to the Ronks, PA area.

Nice way to spend some time on the train

By Phillysub |

This is a very nice train ride that shows you some farmland in Lancaster. You learn of the history of the train. We opted for the open-air car of our trip. It is a very relaxing train ride.

Great fall adventure

By Jean D |

Two adults over 65 had a great visit to the Strasburg RR , and highly recommended Car 88 for adult travel. The Scenery and commentary were delightful, and the PA Railroad Museum across the street was also very interesting, even if the snowplow car was off-the-floor during our visit. The model railways in this museum were fascinating.

Charming, Old-Timey Ride

By David A |

Wonderful experience. Just as good as the first time. Nicely narrated. Pretty countryside views. Well-maintained train cars. Good cocktail and other beverage choices for the short (less than 1 hour) ride.

Enjoyed the ride

By Marilyn F |

We enjoyed the 45 minute train ride. Even though it was close to 100 degrees, the lounge car we were in was nice and cool. The woman who was serving drinks added a few tidbits of information (in addition to the broadcast narration) which enhanced our visit.

A great journey on a steam train!

By 668stephana |

What a great way to see the Lancaster County coutryside, while enjoying a trip back in time on a real steam train! Riding in an authentic, beautifully restored passenger car, it's a fun and relaxing journey. The conductors share a lot of information on the line, and on the history of the equipment. The ride goes to Paradise, PA, whrere it intersects with todays form of rail travel - the Amtrak mainline from Philadlephia to Harrisburg and Pittsburgh. We have taken grandchildren for the ride and they loved it!

Not bad but without more

By MVBV62 |

Don’t imagine really discovering the Amish country thanks to this little train trip. This is a walk in the countryside. We see a few farms from afar. The train travels for about twenty minutes then half a turn to resume the same in the opposite direction. Anyway, nothing crazy. The train is nice but the price is high for the service. Tourist trap!

Santa train not worth it

By jedijmo |

Visited over the summer and enjoyed it so much we wanted to do it again with the Santa train. We paid for the experience with Santa and Mrs. clause - never saw Mrs Clause and Santa took a quick picture and that was it. My kids (and I) expected Santa to engage a little, this was like a dine and dash experience. The train ride itself was nothing special. And it was packed. Really disappointed.

Awful train ride - a waste of time and money

By Mary V |

SO DISAPPOINTING - the train was such a waste of money and time. I had a total of 5 in my family that went Nov2024 and the train literally went 15 minutes one way, stopped for 15 minutes, then went 15 minutes back the other way. We had absolutely no time to enjoy the scenery and the Santa that was on our train was terrible. We didn't have any children with us but if we did I would have been a very upset parent. The Santa was condescending to the children and made the ladies in our party uncomfortable with his stares. I never write reviews but I must because it was so disappointing, we drive 2.5 hours and it was just an awful train experience.

By 1796 |

This is a must visit and an excellent experience when in Lancaster County. It is the oldest operating railroad in the US. The staff are friendly and helpful. We took the dining car, and the food is delicious. Recommended.

Wine and cheese train

By K C |

This was a great experience. The staff were all so helpful and friendly. Definitely a worthwhile experience and so charming.

Christmas Ride $$$

By Stephanie B |

Christmas Train- Coach Car. We rode the train in the summer and decided to spend the extra $ to ride the train with Santa. The experience was nice BUT many of the workers seemed rushed and more interested in getting home than working. The small train was included in the price but when we got off of the Santa train it was closed. We noticed the beautiful lights at the train station after we ate dinner down the road but everything was closed. Sorry Strasburg- this time you didn’t deliver. For the money the experience isn’t there. Many of your workers didn’t want to be there and weren’t able to answer simple questions related to the event. The ticket window was friendly, Mrs. Claus and the elf. $100 for a 1 hour mediocre experience. My opinion - not worth the rushed experience. I LoVe Strasburg but this trip didn’t meet their typical standard.

Great family memory!

By Traveler742259 |

Wonderful authentic experience for the whole family. Make some memories! Very comfortable. Friendly, caring staff.

Excellent Hosling Experience

By vfwlegionjoe |

I attended the Hosling session. this required an advance sign up.
the tour took you to the steam locomotive were the locomotive fireman showed the procedures necessary to grease / lubricate / fire the locomotive. the ash box was cleaned, the coal hopper filled and the firebox was brought from blanket mode to full steam fire. The procedures were fully explained and the locomotive was moved to various locations where the necessary procedures were accomplished. . We were allowed up inside the actual locomotive to observe. Signed waivers were necessary. You will get sootie and a little dirty. Climbing up into the engine can be slippery. No open towed shoes allowed. The Hosling lasted two hours and had to be onsite at 8 am. . It takes a lot of skilled work to ready a steam locomotive.

Exceeded our expectations

By JED53 |

We were amazed at the fun facilities and stores at the train station. The trains were immaculate. We were in a first class lounge car with comfortable swivel chairs. We were celebrating an anniversary and they gave us balloons and a glass of bubbly. All the staff were so friendly. The trip through the countryside had a lot of fun things to see. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Take the basic Coach Ride, and don't miss the Shop Tour

By Sasquatch1971 |

The Strasburg Scenic Railroad offers a 45-minute train ride in antique rail cars pulled by a 100 year-old steam locomotive. While several upgrades to the ride are offered, I recommend taking the basic Coach ride. You get the same view of idyllic farmland as passengers on the more expensive rides, while not being distracted by food, drink or actors. Just sit back and enjoy the slow ride.

If you have even a lukewarm curiosity about how the century-old locomotive and rail cars are kept running, take the Shop Tour. The shop is one of a handful of facilities in the world that can service and overhaul steam locomotives.

The Shop Tour happens at Noon most days, and is led by one of the mechanics or millwrights. You see how much time and effort it takes to maintain the railroad's rolling stock. At any time you may see a steam boiler torn down for safety testing, a rail coach receiving a new facing of mahogany paneling, and multi-ton wheel axles getting new wheels while sitting in a 500-ton press. Many of the milling machines in the shop are as old as the locomotives they service. In fact, the milling machines are so old that replacement parts are no longer available and machines must fabricate their own replacement parts. The Shop Tour gives you an appreciation of the arcane skills and equipment needed to keep old steam locomotives in service. You understand why diesel-electric locomotives supplanted steam power.

BEWARE!!!

By Departure_ASAP <3 travel! |

Soooo disappointing! BEWARE The train has no heat. It was a high of 30° on Dec 23 and FRIGID. We had numb fingers till we got off the ride. We HONESTLY did not enjoy it at all.

Highly recommend it!

By olivias33 |

This was a nice ride on a very old train. We had comfortable seats that swiveled around. It was nice to see the farms and some of the houses while passing through. We even got to see a couple of horse and buggies riding on the road. The conductor told us facts along the route. They served lite snack and drinks for purchase. It was worth the extra money to get more comfortable seats.

Great old-time steam train ride!

By paulwI3382EA |

Beautiful old-time steam train ride through the Amish farmland of Lancaster County! Have your camera ready for lots of pictures. I recommend that you take the 10:00 a.m. departure if you want to avoid the larger crowds later. The train ride is only about 45 minutes but that was perfect. Great for kids and seniors ( like me). Lots of other train-related places to see in the same vicinity like museums and model railroad exhibits.

Cute little show, disappointing train ride.

By Marcie K |

We did the Bonnie and Clyde dining experience. Don’t waste your money on the dining part. The food was mediocre at best, and there was barely enough time to eat it, as the train ride lasted about 1/2 hour. Save your money on the food and go elsewhere to eat afterward.
The little show was cute, but hard to hear in the “square” because of the train.

A "GHOULISH" experience

By Daniel S |

Every trip to Lancaster we make it a point to ride the "Road to Paradise".
This time it was the "Haunted Rail & Tales" excursion.
The Pre-show on the "Town Square Stage" set the scene nicely, with story, fog and lighting.
Once on board the haunting tales began playing over the train's PA system. I was almost directly under one of the speakers, and could barely hear half of the stories.
The "wandering ghouls" on the train were entertaining.
I highly recommend this but suggest that they turn up the volume a little on the PA.

Entertaining

By justjo008 |

My Mom loves Murder Mysteries so when I researched for our trip and saw that the Strasburg Train had a Murder Mystery, I knew we had to go. The scene/mood was set from the moment we stood at the bottom of the steps of the rail car. Some of the characters were there to greet us and welcome us aboard. They were in character from the get go and they never stepped out of character. The characters interacted with the audience and did a great job with their parts.

An appetizer was offered and each ticket entitled you to one beverage (alchol or nonalcohol).

The train ride itself was a really nice ride through the countryside.

We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would do it again.

A RR Day in Strasburg

By Barbara N |

We spent a day between the Strasburg RR and the museum across the street. Had a ton of fun between the two sites -- you can go back and forth easily.

We did a ride on a stream train at the RR. It was terrific fun. The countryside was beautiful. We enjoyed chatting with others in our car and watching the RR staff move the engine for the ride back.

Fun & family friendly

By Janet |

This was an amazing experience, great for any age. My father enjoyed it very much for his birthday, we all enjoyed it along with him. Food was actually good, we had the pork nachos and thev philly cheese stake

Wonderful experience !

A wonderful trip even in the pouring rain ! The staff are all excellent and the trains are beautifully kept- clean & very comfortable.

Fun ride with our 1 year old grandson

By Laureen E |

Enjoyed the evening Christmas train with the reading of “The Night Before Christmas “. 🎄 great little excursion for families of any age.

Family-friendly activity

By Monica B |

This was a phenomenal experience for my family. The experience was about 45 minutes and included the railroad trip, caroling, horn choir, and an elf handing out Christmas ornaments, and a visit from Santa!
The staff were very friendly and it was not too crowded (just the right amount of people). We loved seeing the little Christmas show before you get in the train. Wonderful family-friendly activity!

Wonderful Time!

By Ally G |

My husband and I had a wonderful time. We were in the Victorian style car. It was my birthday and to my surprise the hostess came up to me with a brownie with a side of cherries, which was funny because I was wearing a dress with a cherry print and my purse also had cherries on it. The announcer had everyone in our car sing happy birthday to me, which was so sweet! It definitely takes you back in time. My husband ordered a craft root beer, which he said was the best he'd ever had, and I had a cup of coffee. It was a lovely ride. The gift shop was fun and had a lot of nice items. theres also a place to eat, and a photographer comes around on the train and takes your picture which you can purchase later on. I also got a picture with the Strasburg bear, and a lady and gentleman dressed in Victorian garb. All in all a really fun time!

Awesome train ride

By Jane L |

The train ride was fun and informative. Staff was friendly and courteous. I took the lunch ride so I enjoyed a nice lunch while watching the sights.

All Aboard!

By Melissa C |

This is such a great place to visit! The train ride is a fun, pleasant experience and you will learn a lot about the railroad history in the museum. Booking online for tix allowed us to skip the check in line, as an employee with a tablet found our booking and marked us present. I plan to visit again. Edit, first visit I was around 12 yrs old, just went with hubby and adult sons but there's no choice for that below.

Another great trip on the Strasburg Railroad

By Intrepid953 |

When in the area we always take a trip on the Strasburg Railroad. It is a neat way to see the Amish countryside while traveling behind a steam locomotive, riding in restored old timey railroad cars. We rode behind the 475 which is a restored ex Norfolk and Western locomotive. Great for the kids of all ages that love a trip on a real railroad.

We just enjoy this train ride.

By PinkCat14 |

Whenever we get up to Lancaster we take a ride on this train. We did the wine and cheese tour yesterday. The rail car was just beautiful and we had a nice relaxing ride while trying 3 different wines.

We took the Wine and Cheese train ride…..

By Swerky |

We had a great time. The samples were great along with the cheese crackers and fruit pairings. We chose the blush as our “free” glass of wine then, surprisingly, bc the hostesses knew it was my 60th birthday, we were “gifted” a free glass of wine. Such a nice gesture. Would def do this again. I also want to try the Murder mystery ride!!

ok experience

By Melissa E |

We did the Bonnie and Clyde experience. It was ok, seems like we paid for a train ride. They did not have an introduction before departure as it said online so we didn't get it when they walked threw. I think it could of been played out better maybe have different actors in the cars. Don't know I did not enjoy it

Awesome Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

By Eddie A |

Absolutely amazing place to visit with the family or friends.
Kids friendly, handicap and wheelchair friendly, plenty of free onsite parking.
This is a must visit for anyone especially if they are railroad enthusiasts.
Outstanding museum and incredible train rides.
The museum has an incredible history of the past railroad through the years.

Mom and me time away

By Cathy |

My mom and I enjoyed the scenic rides through the amish farmlands. It's been years since we were here last. I only wished the trip was longer. Highly recommend making a trip here.

Beautiful trains, cars, and shops. Just wish it was a longer ride.

By regular income traveler |

We go to Strausburg at least 5 times a year. Each time we say we need to take the train ride. We finally did !!
The entire area, stores, restaurant, restrooms, parking lot and train cars were immaculate. There is a small play area behind the restroom.
I was so excited to see the Good Humor man dressed in original uniform with an original Good Humor ice cream truck. The staff dressed in original uniforms.
Everyone was so pleasant. We booked our tickets online $22 each for the 45 minute coach train with beautiful and comfortable cloth seats. I made a comment on the ticket purchase that I was so excited to finally be riding the train. When we checked in with Alex he mentioned my comment from my ticket purchase.
We enjoyed the train ride so much. We wished it was a longer ride.

We enjoy this train ride very much.

By PinkCat14 |

We have done several train rides, the wine and cheese last year and this year, the Murder Mystery, lol it was so much fun! Everything about this train station is wonderful. Starting with the ticket booth, the conductors, everyone has a friendly greeting to share! The stores have a great selection of items. The entire area is clean, grounds beautifully kept. The parking area is plentiful.

Just OK, Not Great

By Wayne W |

It was OK. Such a short ride... 15 out, 15 while Santa took photos, 15 back. A live singer sang 2 quick songs, a live trumpet/French horn duet (also 2 songs). That was pretty much it. They should have piped in music, should have made the ride longer.

We enjoyed some of the stationary entertainment a bit more (playground, carolers, mini-train, people watching).

Wonderful!

By Stacy N |

Took the Santa’s Paradise Express with our wheelchair bound granddaughter. The staff were very accommodating and super friendly. Really made the experience enjoyable. We also enjoyed the entertainment and small train ride in addition to our scheduled event. Such a great vibe and fun day with the family.

Fun experience in Farm country

By Mike G |

Had a fantastic time on the ride! The whole operation is well run, organized, and well delivered. We were even there on the Thomas the Tank Engine special day and it was mobbed - but everything was well taken care of. Kudos to the staff, and we will be back with our grandkids!

Strasburg Rail Road

By Joseph S |

A pleasant diversion from daily life. The train is well-maintained and has a very late 1800s feel, and the shops in the station area are in keeping with the theme. Conductors and staff are friendly and helpful. The only issue is the public address system on the train is scratchy and hard to hear.

Wow

By Carolyn H |

I was very impressed. This was a day out with Thomas. My great nephew has always wanted to go so we took him. At a time I thought would be focused on the kids they helped my sister and I. We both have health problems. They picked us up on a golf cart at our car and took us to the station to get our tickets. It would have been way to much of a walk for either of us. We stayed hours of course and road the trains and bought souvenirs. My nephew visited the museum. When the time came to leave we told the attendants at the gate we needed a ride back to our car. They called for the golf cart. Got us chairs to sit on and offered us cold water in the 95 degree plus heat. We waited in comfort in the tent for our ride. We couldn't have asked to have been treated any better. Thank you Strasburg Railroad and Thomas. You all made our visit the best. Top notch!!!

Great time at the Strasburg Railroad

By Sandra M |

We had a wonderful visit to the Strasburg Railroad. It was our third time there, and they've added fun things to do since our last visit. The escape room was super fun; the behind-the scenes shop tour is a must do for train buffs, and the ride through the country side in the open air car was relaxing and very enjoyable. Don't miss the puffer belly train ride; it's fun to ride on a mini train. The Strasburg Railroad is a must visit location for anyone who likes trains--kids and grownups alike!

Country steam train ride with beautiful views

By Karen F |

This was a super experience for my visiting Grandchildren ages just 5 and 2. The train ride was just long enough and through beautiful countryside with plenty of farm animals to see. My Grandson even spied an Adventure Farm to visit later. They enjoyed the coal fired steam engine pulling us along. There were plenty of other things to enjoy too. A General Store, tot size train to ride (my Grandson loved chasing it along the entire route as the whistle tooted). There was a safe swing and play area that my Grand daughter loved. Various entertainers performed too. This was a hugely successful half day activity for my visiting family.

Wonderful Train Ride

By jean8 |

I loved our 45 min. ride through the countryside. Our train was absolutely beautiful!!! It was so much fun.

A great day!

By melanag12018 |

We had a marvelous time. We started our day with the Hostling tour, led by the knowledgable and friendly Tyler. We also enjoyed the shop tour, led by Gabe. Bith were super patient with the never ending questions. Doing the tours really added to our overall enjoyment of the day. Of course, riding in the train was wonderful. The box lunch was pretty good too.

Strasburg Rail Road Escape Room & Train Ride Experiences

By Janice |

I visited the Strasburg Rail Road yesterday with my husband and 10 year old son. We had a great time!

We started off the day with the Escape Room which is in a stationary caboose. Our game was "The Curse of the Bobber". I booked the 12 pm adventure the night before and was happy to see that they were ready for us a bit early. It was $30 per person, so about average for an escape room. When we entered the caboose, we realized it was quite small. The reservation system said up to 6 people but that would be quite tight in there. There is a "game hostess" who stays the whole time, and their was another employee observing also, so overall there were 5 of us. I understand why they have the "game hostess" stay since it is a historic caboose they don't want anything destroyed, but it was a bit odd to have to move around and dig through stuff while they were staring at us. You have 45 minutes to complete the escape, which seemed short, all the other rooms I've done were an hour, but it turned out to be plenty of time. With just the 3 of us we were done in 25 minutes. My son was very excited because it was the first one he ever succeeded at, so that was nice, but my husband and I both thought it was a bit simplistic with only 4 puzzles to solve to complete it. Upon exiting the caboose I was expecting to take the typical picture stating that "we won" and had thought maybe the hostess would either pose with us or take it for us, but she stayed in the caboose and simple shut the door when we exited. I took a picture of my son to celebrate, but was a bit bummed to not get a full family shot.

After the escape room we grabbed hot cider and apple cinnamon donuts from the outdoor cart and headed to get our 1 pm train. We booked the first class lounge car 118, joking that it was the only time we could afford to travel first class. It was well worth the $36 per person, the chairs were very comfortable, and they swiveled 360 degrees so you could see out both sides no matter where you were sitting or which direction you were going. There was an attendant who came by multiple times to ask us if we wanted to purchase food or drink, a photographer came and took a picture of each group, and a conductor came through to check our tickets. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant. There was period music that played along with some local history as we traveled along the track. I knew it was only a 4.5 mile ride each way from the description on their website, but it was a nice relaxing way to see the Amish countryside and spend about an hour of our day.

We also visited the gift shop and toy store. Both were very clean and well stocked with lots of merchandise. Prices were what I would expect when visiting an attraction like this. We all got shirts, my son got a stuffed animal, and I got my normal magnet. All the employees were nice and friendly.

As far as CONS go I do wish there was an option for a longer train ride, but I understand they only own so much track. Also, the escape room was very small and simple. If you have a group of adults who have done them before I think you will probably be disappointed.

The PROS the trains were beautifully maintained, the staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and everyone around us seemed to be enjoying themselves just as much. It was a fantastic family adventure, even on a rainy chilly fall day.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would definitely go back!

We had fun

By Suzanne G |

We had fun but enjoyed the Sleepy Hollow experience from a few years ago better. We liked how the story unfolded before the train ride and continued during the ride outside our train and then finished up afterwards.

Nice train ride and well run place.

By James Z |

The old operating steam engines are fantastic and offer a real feel for the past. The tour of the shop was well done. Nice and slow taking the time to answer a whole lot of questions. Josh who was our guide was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the operation. The entire area was well kept and the train ride was very nice. The ability to pick the type of car was a nice extra. I will go back again.

good steam railroad ride

By Yankeeboys |

We purchased coach tickets. The interior of the cars was amazing. It was as if we went back in time. The commentary on board was very good with a little humor. We just wish the ride was longer.

A memorable experience on a historic scenic railroad.

By Jason Rosenau |

A truly unique experience. I was lucky enough to ride the NW 611 during its farewell tour at Strasburg and the NW 475 a couple times. Not the longest excursion by any means but a amazing ride through the countryside. Staff are super helpful and friendly. A must for all ages.

My husband, son & I really enjoyed the elegant dinner excursion.. The dining car was very nice, the service was wonderful & the scenery along the ride was beautiful, but the icing on the cake was the dinner!! We had not expected such an excellent meal. The Beef Wellington & Chicken Marsala were divine. My husband & son love Wellington and they both said it was the best they ever had, even better than Chef Gordon Ramsey's Wellington at his Atlantic City restaurant. We definitely give this dining excursion high ratings.

As close as you're going to get to a time machine.

By ASGLondon |

The train depot was easy to find, had plenty of parking, and so much to do!

When I arrived, there was a vaudeville act performing near the train platform. It was quick and easy to get a ticket, pick-up a souvenir at the gift shop, and the restroom was clean.

I got there in time to watch them couple the steam locomotive with the cars. The train left on time and provided some nice views of the countryside. On the way back, the seats flipped, so guests can "look forward" the entire time.

There are some other train related attractions in the area, so it is worth making a day of it if you're in the area.

Its quicker than you think.

By Joseph Z |

I was very excited about this. We booked lunch on the train. The food was good. The server was great. I would recommend getting lunch while here, I think it makes the trip more fun.

I will say that the trip is very quick. I knew it was going to be about an hour, yet it was about a 15 minute slow ride out. Then you stop for another 10 - 12 minutes as the train turns around. While stopped your in an area that has literally nothing to look at, either a retaining wall hill or an industrial shop with stuff everywhere. Then 15 minutes back to where you came from. It just seems very quick.

The ride is very beautiful. It is a shame that the area where you sit for 10 minutes is awful. I was unaware that we had the ability to leave the train and hang out in a nice fenced in area near by, that may have made the stop more enjoyable. This is something they should promote a bit better.

Overall I would recommend.

Steam Train Ride is a Bust.

By Daniel M |

The train is a total of 45 minutes - 22 minutes to turn around and 22 minutes back to station. Nice Amish countryside for viewing but that's about it. Nice ride for children. The feature is the steam engine and antique cars. Forget the $41 lunch in the dining car since lunch was a ham and bacon sandwich with tomato & lettuce on a roll. Bag of chips., that's it! Drinks were extra, even iced tea or soda @ $3.50. Bar drinks were $10. The commentary over the loudspeaker was hardly heard over the train's rumbling and creaking loud noises. Better train trips somewhere else, for sure.

Wine and Cheese ride

By Whichway2thebeach40 |

Lovely wine and cheese night! I have been on this twice. We love the posh car with the blue velvet twirly seats! Our hostess Libby was personable, knowledgeable, friendly and funny.

It’s a short ride, and a little pricey, but when the train chugs by you, you realize how expensive it must be to run 100+ year old locomotive. I consider this evening also a bit of charity to keep history alive.

A Great Train Experience!

By Steve H |

Loved the train interior and the plush seats in the lounge car. Scenery was picturesque and interesting. The train staff were informative, helpful and polite. Worth the reasonable cost of the ticket and an experience I'd highly recommend to visitors to the area. The downtown of Strasburg was also very charming and worth a stroll!

You Won't Feel Railroaded with this one.

By Toni G |

Beautiful Views. We had tickets for the dining car. Food was very cool..except the roast beef sandwich had all these weird pickled vegetables on it. Toss that and add more roast beef with Swiss with a side of ah jou and it ll be perfected.

Beautiful experience

By Paula O |

We had the opportunity to revisit this railroad. This time we were gifted the lunch meal along with the train ride. It was interesting to be seated in an enclosed car this time. The scenery was beautiful as always.

Fun with little kids

By LinaA221 |

The trains at Christmas are a very festive option for the season. The train ride isn’t too long (45 min), making it good for little kids. We sat in a coach car which was warm and cozy with comfortable seats. Santa, carolers, and other musicians came by. It was an enjoyable time. I gave it 4 starts due to how expensive it is. I think about $10 cheaper would be better priced.

Great experience riding a beautiful steam train!

By Lucy S |

It'd been at least 10+ years since we last visited and this did not disappoint. My special needs brother LOVES steam trains and we booked the 1st class car for the a/c because it happened to be a hot (around 90's) day. But any car would be fun and the narration during the ride is informative and fun. If you have kids, pay close attention when they pause for the little "ghost" train. You can buy drinks/snacks on board, and we'd love to come back and try one of the special dining events. Station has a cafe & little shops, and the RR Museum is right across the street -- another great stop if you have time to see.

Excellent!

By mellie5155 |

The train ride was exactly what I was hoping for when we booked it for our 3 yo grandson and other family. It was just the right length of time, caroling and Santa were excellent. The business office was awesome to deal with as some family members were sick and couldn't make it. They quickly responded with a gift card for them to use later. Thanks Strasburg!

Excellent History in Action

By David R |

I have been visiting the Strasburg Railroad - typically several times per year - since childhood. I've had the pleasure of seeing it develop over many year since the 1970s. I am thankful for their efforts and success in maintaining the historic integrity of the equipment, preserving the experience of steam railroading and providing a place where other historic railroads are able to have their equipment repaired. Anyone with even a small interest in railroading will enjoy a trip to Strasburg. There is plenty to keep you engaged for hours. It is easily a day-long adventure if you include a visit to the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum which is across the road.
One note - a sad trend I am seeing is people who do not deserve to be out in public let alone within a museum or at a historic site such as this. If you are the type who is unable to place your trash in a trash can, unable to keep your children from running in front of the train, unable to follow instructions such as "stay off of the tracks" or "don't get off of a moving train", or constantly speak in a yelling voice even when you are standing next to the person you are "speaking" with, then do the world a favor - stay home.

Fantastic!

By Eric C |

We did a wine and cheese train. I wrote in the comments when I ordered my tickets that I hoped our group of 10 could sit together because we were celebrating my sister getting married. The staff went above and beyond for my sister. They brought her balloons, they let us board first, they served my sister first, they had the whole train car cheering/celebrating her, they gave her a free drink and macaroons, took pictures of all of us, and announced her name over the intercom to congratulate her. It was just so sweet and more than I ever thought it would be. It meant so much to her. What they didn’t know is she just battled breast cancer, so this just made this whole thing so much more special. The wine and cheese tray was fantastic and so was the train ride. Honestly can’t thank everyone enough for their kindness towards my sister and our group. They went above and beyond for us and made this whole experience more special. I highly recommend Strasburg Railroad. Such great staff and a fantastic time had by all!

Once is more than enough

By JWilliam0316 |

First of all, everyone who works here is very nice and friendly. That just about ends the positives.

We did the murder mystery train ride. Well, for starters, it's not much of a ride. It's a slow, straight trip up the rails, the train stops while the engine unhooks from one end and comes to the other, and pulls you right back to where you started.

The basic storyline for the murder mystery was good and the actors did fairly well with it. But, it all strikes you as a bit cheesy. There were kids on board but that didn't stop the actors from cursing throughout the performance.

For the money that was spent, I would have wanted a whole lot more and better. Did it once and there is absolutely no reason to do it again.

Try this 9 mile 45 trip!

By Lori T |

This is a very interesting experience for families or couples. Wonderful for train buffs. You ride in a car being pulled by a steam locomotive. We had lunch in the dining car which was prepaid. It wasn't anything spectacular but the car seating was much more comfortable then that of the open cars. You have to pay more for that car and also your food and on board you buy your drinks. We also took the back shop tour that was kind of interesting. We also went to the train museum across the street as well. It took about 2 hours to tour.

Excellent visit

By barnesholiday |

Excellent visit again to the Strasburg Railroad. We had lunch in the dining car and the food was super, plus the service was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Highly Recommend for the Holidays

By Peggy V |

This was a lovely holiday experience. The station area is beautifully lit and filled with holiday music. The train ride itself was just the right length of time and there were a few fun surprises along the way. I highly recommend this for any family wanting to get into the holiday spirit.

Birthday Celebration

By emfrese |

I took my daughter to Lancaster for her birthday. We picked a train ride on the lunch car. Lunch was very good. During the ride they tell you about the history of the Strasburg Railroad and you also see areas that you can visit while in Lancaster. I have done several trips with family and friends to the Strasburg railroad and have enjoyed it every time.

Steaming on the Strasberg Railway

By James F |

After spending Memorial Day at Hersheypark, we didn’t expect to have a better day with my daughter and two grandsons. The train ride to Paradise and back in a lounge car of 19th century vintage being pulled by a steam engine was it’s equal. The view of the countryside was great. The only thing that would have been better would have been seeing a farmer or two doing field work.

A day at the railroad

By Joan P |

Took my Grand daughter, age 2 on her first train ride, and she loved it.
From the moment we arrived at the train station everyone was so friendly and so nice. The RR is clean and so we'll organized. There's alot of photo ops and places to shop and eat. It was a perfect day.

Cool Experience

By Eli K |

Great train ride through the farm land of Pennsylvania. Unique experience in an old locomotive train. There is coach and first class cars.

Not worth the thirty minutes ride!

By Byron L |

Short disappointing ride! Saw 1 or 2 Amish farms and a school. Not worth the money for 15 minutes down then turn around and came back seeing the same! 🙁

Wonderful ride in a beautifully refurbished Parlor Car

By Bente H |

I booked the trip in order to take my mother, who is 92-years-old. When I booked, I put this info in the notes. I arrived to check-in for the ride while my mother stayed in the car. The station conductor asked if I was the one with the 92-year-old mother and asked if she would need a lift to help her onto the train. They provided her with the lift, which made it so much easier for her to board the train. Everyone was very attentive and helpful. And the ride was a very nice experience that my mother enjoyed very much. It is a lovely experience for anyone who enjoys traveling on a beautifully refurbished train from the turn-of-the-century. I booked us in the Parlor Car and it was beautiful, and the swivel chairs were very comfy and made enjoying the views so much easier. We had a great time!

Over priced experience

By Veronica M |

The experience is over priced. We did the dining car. The food was cold and distasteful. We had to pay for a drink after paying for the meal. The two year old was $12.75 but that did not include food. I would not recommend this to anyone.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

By UGR3DAY |

Luxury and Comfort On a Historic Train Ride
This was a SPECTACULAR experience! I chartered the train car for my business UGR3DAY to provide an Underground Railroad storytelling tour. From start to finish, the customer service was 5 star! Thank you for all of the special touches, the extravagant experience and support with booking. I hope to charter again in the future!

A very nice and interesting historic train ride

By David W |

A really nice and historic train ride in the Amish countryside! Highly recommended for both couples and families with children!

Fun Little Trip

By Pamela W |

Very nice little ride through the Amish countryside. You only travel 4.5 miles and then return, but it's a very pretty ride on a early 20th century rail car. The coach car was beautifully appointed with wood work , gas lights, and milk glass features. You could definitely smell the coal smoke as you traveled. Joel was a great station master. Dressed in costume and keeping everyone organized. Quite enjoyable.

Santa Claus Christmas Train No 88

By dawna s |

Great Experience on Train 88. The family especially the grandkids fun. The conductor was very friendly and Santa spent quality time with the family.

A getaway

Great ride with my wife. The food was very tasty. Philly Cheesesteak and Italian Sausage. I highly recommend families riding with their kids

Beautiful experience!

By Trail48257900590 |

The Wine and Cheese experience was so fun. Libby was the best hostess. We had a great time! The train was beautiful! Definitely a must see/do!

Great Train ride through the Amish Farms

By Catalina T |

Our experience on the rails was most delightful. The tour through the countryside was breathtaking and the train whistle took me back to the old western movies. We enjoyed it very much.
The only drawback was that the gift shop was closed on this Wednesday afternoon and the cafe was actually closed. It was raining and chilly, luckily the cafe did allow us in for a cup of coffee. I would think when I booked the afternoon tour, a notice should have been issued, indicating the early closures.

Nice family attraction.

By T.May |

Very nice train ride. The staff were all superb. The rail station village is nice but what you would expect from a tourist attraction. The train ride is rather short. 45 minutes or so.

Legacy of the Headless Horseman

By Ginger B |

Took the kids to see legacy of the headless horseman at Strasberg railroad and highly recommend . Actors were great and allowed pictures afterwards . If you want to do a family fun night this is a must can’t wait til next year

Enjoyable ride

By Deanna K |

We rode in the first class lounge car with swivel chairs. Was an enjoyable experience with beautiful views of the countryside. Was nice to be able to purchase food and drinks.

Fun time aboard the Strasburg Railroad

By Karen R |

What a gem this was on our bus trip to Lancaster PA. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time there. One could spend the whole day there as there is so much to see. There is a toy train museum and other attractions. The ride to Paradise through the countryside was beautiful- the valleys and farms were beautiful. And , to our surprise, Thomas the Train Engine was there giving kids and their parents such a fun time. I highly recommend you put this stop on your trip to Lancaster.

Awesome Mechanical Shop Tour

By Linda B |

We participated in the Mechanical Shop Tour with David. It was one of the top tours that I have done anywhere in the world. There were kids as well as some very knowledgeable adults (maybe working as machinists) on the tour. David handled all of the questions such that the answers to even the more complicated questions were understandable to all ages and knowledge levels. The tour was scheduled for 45 mins, but David gave us 2 hours of his time (although he gave those who wanted to move on opportunities to leave, but most of the group stayed the entire time). I highly recommend the tour if you have any interest in engines, machine shops, or trains.

Fun and informative

By Kathy G |

Wonderful authentic railway experience! Beautifully restored cars and engines. The commentary given during the ride was wonderful and informative. We were stunned to learn that it’s the longest operating railway line in North America. Great way to see the area and learn about it and the importance of the railway line to our history.

Resist the temptation

By Bob K |

How to put this? It is a ripoff. A tourist trap. A waste of money and time. You ride out into the countryside for maybe 20 minutes, then stop while the engine is uncoupled and moved to the opposite end of the train for the return trip. You pass the very same sights coming back that you passed on the way out -- on the same length of track. You could see the same scenes from the comfort of your car by driving around the area on the secondary roads. If you can't resist a look around, then park for free, check out the gift shop and the old rolling stock on display across the street. Walk around and absorb the ambience. Take some pictures. Wave to the passengers as the train leaves the station. And then get back in your car and be on your way. You will have had 90 percent of the Strasburg Railroad experience at a fraction of the cost.

A time machine

By Jerome S |

A quick lapse back in time on a 100 year old train. The trip is short, 45 mn across the Amish country, but worth the experience.
Rail engines and carriage are original ones, perfectly refurbished by passionate people.
A must do in the Lancaster area.

Strasburg Rail Road Bonnie and Clyde show

By Julie L |

My husband and I went to the Bonnie and Clyde experience with our five-year-old grandson, my sister and our 88-year-old mother. We did upgrade to the dining car. The surrounding area is lovely, the staff everywhere gracious and the actors fantastic. I would highly recommend this railroad experience.

Santa train ride 2024

By Jim Z |

We did the Santa train ride. Our 3yr old grandson totally enjoyed the entire experience ! We were in a little room on the Presidents car and it was perfect. Loved the hot chocolate and cookies provided. The Santa was simply perfect and so good with Bennett as he was a bit scared/skittish but warmed right up to the big guy. The assistant on the train, Adrianna couldn’t have been sweeter. And of course our little guy hasn’t stopped blowing his train whistle yet…..lol…..Very Well Done !!!

A Train Ride Through Paradise

By Thomas F |

This is our first time on the SRR line. There is a little confusion in the the main station address is Ronks, PA. However, google maps also show this location as Paradise. I'm sticking with the name Paradise. We booked a dining car. These are provisioned by the 1812 cafe in the station. The food was well prepared and tasty. Seeing the active farm land on the 45 minute ride was enjoyable. We had the opportunity to talk with a few of the rail workers. Hopefully we did not ask too many silly questions. Talking with Kathy, who is on charge of the dining car, was the pinnacle of our all too short journey. Hope to come back soon. Thanks to all that make this an enjoyable excursion in Paradise.

Not worth the money

By Freeman D P |

Left Pittsburgh at 9:00 arrived by 2:00 p.m. for a 30-minute train ride a half a glass of wine for $10 cracker and salami $12 and a hot chocolate for I don't know 45 a waste of time unless you live close to them it's not a train ride it goes up and comes right back don't go to bathroom on the train or you miss the whole trip never again unless I'm in that area

Quaint train ride

By Eryka J |

My mom and I did the train ride one weekend in October. While we missed the “pop” of the changing of leaves, it was still a very quaint and beautiful train ride. We rode in coach 1993, which was very comfortable with the velvet seats. When the train backtracks, you switch sides and the back of the seats flip so you’re sitting in the same direction of the moving train. The conductor was informative about the history of the area. I would highly recommend and they make is easy by allowing ticket purchases online. There is ample parking.

Fun Experience

By XSki007 |

A bit pricy for 45 minutes, however it is very cool shtick.
Friendly staff and they make the ride fun.
Farms and countryside you probably couldn’t see otherwise. It’s fun for the kiddos.

Outstanding!

By Jaci1211 |

We did the 45-minute train ride and the tour of the mechanic shop, and both activities were outstanding. We have a 5-year old who loves trains, and this is our favorite railroad experience thus far. It was beautifully maintained, comfortable, pretty scenery, and educational. We had wonderful interactions with all the staff- a special shout-out to the guy who did our tour of the mechanic shop. He was excellent at educating the adults, teenager, and our 5-year old at appropriate levels and clearly passionate about his job. We would 100% do this again.

Too expensive for such a short ride.

By David C |

I could see just as much by automobile for $3.00 in gas. Not very handicap friendly. Sinage is lacking good information.

Fantastic experience.

By Brian |

Excellent condition of the equipment. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food is terrible onboard and in the cafe so eat first. But otherwise, it’s top notch. We prefer the air conditioned first class cars which are a little over priced but it makes for a much more comfortable ride in summer and winter. Highly recommend doing the upgrade when the temperatures are uncomfortable.

Love the venue disappointed in the show.

By Local resident |

The trains and the property are amazingly beautiful,

Unfortunately, the $50, Sleepy hollow, Halloween train ride was disappointing, The music was so loud you couldn't hear the actors, and there wasn't enough interaction or activity to keep us engaged on the train. There was an extensive period of time on the train when we just sat and we did nothing. All there seemed to be was girls dressed in the 18th century running up and down the aisle screaming. It was hard to follow the story.

Worth going out of your way for

By Whichway2thebeach40 |

Wine and cheese tasting was really nice. It was a beautiful evening. It’s a little pricey, in my opinion, but we had a very enjoyable time. The car is beautiful. The countryside is lovely, and there is nothing like seeing a steam engine up close. The staff is friendly and wonderful.

Old time train ride.

By oldbiker52 |

Inexpensive and very interesting to ride period coaches pulled by a real live coal powered steam engine. 45 minute train ride full of interesting facts and sights

Disappointed with Bonnie & Clyde experience

By Janet |

We booked the Bonnie & Clyde experience with multiple other couples. Though the refurbished train was nice, we were disappointed that thunderstorms cancelled most of our Bonnie & Clyde theatrical performance. Some of the performance did happen on the train but, in the end I'm not really sure what happened. Maybe we'll return with the kids some day to experience the train only.

A great wine train.

By JoeSchwartz |

My wife and on went on the wine train. This past weekend on a beautiful spring day
A leasure steam train ride through lancaster to Paradice and return. A very comfortable train. In an old restored car
Fantastic wine from Waitz winery paired with cheese and fruit. You also get a glass of wine. A very knowageable tour guide was on the train with us.

.

Nice quick historic ride!

By Linda B |

Been 5 yrs since last here. Was in area with a friend. Again it was 96 degrees out so had a premium car with Air conditioning and comfortable old swivel chairs. In this car we had wonderful, very personable waitress. Drinks and snacks available. Great views of countryside and Amish farms with a bit of history thrown in.
Only downside was at the station. Thomas the Tank Engine was there. The crowds of kids plus the heat was very over the top both busy and noisy.

Great day out for the whole family.

By Heidi J |

Great day out for the whole family. We booked the dining car. They were very accommodating with gluten free request and other customization of food. The conductor even helped us sing happy birthday to my son.

Rainy train ride

By Stephanie S |

It was rainy but still had a great time. We did the covered car for the ride, listened to some music and stopped at 9 3/4 platform. Everything was well kept. The seats were comfortable.

Well worth the price of admission

By Norman S |

A truly worthwhile experience. This excursion covers it all, open air, and closed passenger cars, steam driven engine, steam powered whistle, smoke belching fire box, a truly delightful excursion through Amish country side.

Beautiful Fall day to take a train ride

By Lititz S |

30 members of the Lititz Senior Center took a picturesque tour of the land from Strasburg to Paradise during a beautiful fall day. The staff and facilities were accommodating on all levels. Great time of year to go !!!

Truly great experience

By Cheryl G |

The train ride was amazing. Trains are very clean and in good shape. Real working coal stove for heat was nice to see. A true steam locomotive and engineers working were great to see. Highly recommend.

Fantastic!

By Michele N |

Fantastic experience for the entire family 2yrs to 69 yrs old! Loved every minute of it, from the entertainment while waiting to board the train to the 45 minute train ride! Nice family event!

Wonderful time

By durene h |

This place is wonderful for all ages the restrooms were clean and the employees were nice and informative diffidently will tell others about it and come back

Murder Mystery train

By Donna S |

Thoroughly enjoyed the show, however, the "hor d'oeuvres" were laughable and disappointing. A piece of bologna with a tiny piece of cheese and a squirt of mustard. Despite the good show, it was definitely NOT worth the $72 ticket price.

Perfect day at Strasburg Railroad

By Karen M |

Perfect day for a train ride. My grandson and I enjoyed everything there. The gift shop had a great selection. The train ride travels through the farmland. Fields of corn, cows grazing and Amish farms.

Bonnie and Clyde

By Trail631585 |

Got ROBBED by Bonnie and Clyde!! What fun what scenery what a nice comfortable train ride ! Will definitely be back for other rides!!

Excellent

By Steve F |

Been going for 35 years and every time is better than the last. Had lunch on the train for the first time. Food was great, service was terrific. Very friendly staff both on the train and around the station.
If you’re a rail buff like my son and I, the season pass is a great option.

Fun family activity

By supaflyNYC |

This was a fun family activity! We really enjoyed the train, scenic landscape, and information provided. My kids are 13 and 11 and both had fun. We rode in the open air car.

Strasburg Rail Road

By Jan |

Great train ride. All employees were friendly and personable. One of the nicest train rides we have taken. The first class cars with the swivel seats made for a nice experience.

By TruthTeller_11 |

I have been going to the Strasburg Rail Road for almost 40 years and will always go back. The train ride is the same route as it has always been, and there's a certain comfort in that. Steam train enthusiasts should love this ride. It's not as good these days as it was when I was a kid, because they don't have enthusiastic narrators and storytellers like they used to, but still, I will always do this train ride when I'm in the area. You should, too. And maybe someday when I have the time, I will volunteer to work on the train as an enthusiastic narrator and storyteller.

Strasburg train Shop Tour

By Pamela |

Nice tour of the Mechanical Train shop. Gabe our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all our questions. So glad we did it and highly recommend this tour. Thanks Gabe..

Wonderful day spending time in an Era gone by

By Ray B |

Great place to visit. Dealt with an incredible young lady named Libbie.... she was great. Incredibly friendly, very knowledgeable and was a joy to spend time with.

Very nice track and an interesting fleet with steam and diesel locomotives as well as 2 beautiful hand operated turntables.

By Georg L |

Very nice drive through Amishland.
Locomotive and carriage in very good condition. The only downside was that you could not get off at the transfer point.

Had a great time.

By Robert F |

Had a great time. Took my wife for our 25th anniversary. She is handicapped and the had a lift to get her on, they brought us a slice of cheesecake with a candle to celebrate. Loved it.

Must go!

By Chelsea H |

I live super close to this but yesterday was my first going here! Lots of fun for all ages. Everyone should experience this at least once. Can't wait for the wine and cheese ride!

Visit to Strasburg

By Ria H |

Fun 45 minute train ride for a scenic area in Lancaster. Very enjoyable for the family. Right next door to the railroad train museum.

Trip to Paradise

By Sarah D |

Celebrated my 55 birthday on the Wine & Cheese Train! Everyone was courteous, fun and welcoming. Classic steam engine with beautifully restored train cars traveling through scenic Pennsylvania countryside. Wait staff was superb. Our Red Hat Ambassador, Joel, was a wealth of information and the sweetest gentleman! Highly recommend this trip back in time on a lovely trip from Strasburg, PA to Paradise, PA

Long John Special 2024

By Greg C |

We had an incredibly crazy experience of the Long John Special. It had snowed night before and had blustery winds but we braved the cold and had an amazing experience. All conductors were very helpful and free long john and coffee helped. Train ride was a amazing as usual and this scenery has a charm all seasons of the year. Cant wait to come back in spring.

Fun time, but need to do better with food allergies

By Susan |

We had a great time on the wine and cheese train. It was very comfortable. My only complaint is that I told them ahead of time that I had a gluten allergy, and they had no gluten-free crackers for the cheese. I even called the cafe the day before and was told there would be gluten-free crostinis for me, but that never got communicated to train staff.

Fun ride for all

By AnnaBella |

We had a great experience on the choochoo with our Service Dog Diana. The service in the Parlor Car was great and the scenery was fantastic.

Strasburg Railroad Christmas Special 2023

By Road29655733198 |

Rode Christmas Special. RR does a nice job. Cars are historically restored and nice riding behind a steam locomotive. While in the area also visit the Toy Train Museum, great for adults and kids.

If you play with trains you must go!

By Rolesvilledave |

Train enthusiast beware! This is the place. The ride was wonderful but the Shop Tour is a MUST do. What these people do to keep steam history alive is fantastic. They do it all. Since the knowledge to recondition these giant pieces of equipment is fading on the job training is a must. The people we experienced are doing a wonderful job.

Short Steam Locomotive Ride w/Basic Country Views

By Scott B |

The ride was overall very short before you turn around and go back, the price was $36 per person for the premium cars, regardless of age (no senior discounts). The cars were nicely restored, get there early to get a group of seats together. They also mentioned you can bring a picnic lunch and where they change directions, there is a small fenced area with tables to eat at, and you can catch a later train back.

AWESOME

By bdrwax |

Cannot brag enough how great of an experience the railroad, the staff and everyone involved to make it such a great experience. This was our second time visiting the railroad and it was as great as the first time. Looking forward to next year to go again.
While visiting, make sure you visit the train museum across the street.

Disappointing visit

By travelprincess |

We had booked the ride for the Gettysburg reenactment weekend. As avid train riders we were very disappointed with this booking. There was nothing really happening in regards to the booking at the main station. There wasn’t much to see at the station other than shopping and the cafe. We drive over 6 hours for this visit and we were not impressed with this place. Maybe we missed the dinting at the venue but for what we paid it was not worth the drive.

Great fun!

By Sue S |

We had a fabulous time we had riding the Strasburg railroad! The crew was wonderful - funny, helpful, knowledgeable - and they made the ride a joyous occasion. The price was very reasonable, and the amount of time spent on the ride was perfect. The shops at the depot had plenty of interesting items, and the staff working there was very friendly and gracious. This was a great way to spend time with friends on a gorgeous fall afternoon.

What a neat little trip.

By Suzanne M |

The Strasburg Railroad has nice historical passenger cars and the workers play their roles to perfection. The train station is no neat. This is a coal train that runs on a closed track just for them. Gorgeous views of Amish country. We made reservations online before going and chose the closed train to ride in due to the weather. We had a wonderful time. They were setting up for the Thomas train day when we went.

Second great experience

By David B |

Our second time visiting family in Mechanicsburg and taking a ride on your amazing steam train. All members of your crew were friendly and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommended.

Glad we went!

By Rhonda M |

We enjoyed our ride on the train. We were able to take in the nostalgia of an old train experience plus see the Amish area countryside which is beautiful.

Wonderful experience

By Paula O |

We came to visit this location because my husband is a rail fan from Canada. We had the opportunity to take a ride on the rail road which was awesome. A fabulous family day for my husband, two young adults and myself. We enjoyed the open-air car which allowed us to see the beautiful scenery of the country side.

Train whistles - no thanks

By Departure12292127879 |

Fun, but giving children the wooden train whistles!!! Instant headache for adults. Please!! Don't do train whistles unless exiting the train

Not an experience I’d recommend!

By TMM |

I wouldn’t recommend this as there just wasn’t much to see and the sound system volume is turned down so low that you can’t hear the guide. The lounge car seats were wonderful but it just wasn’t an experience I could recommend. With that said, small children would enjoy being on a train and 45 minutes would be ideal for them.

Enjoyable and relaxing with rich history

By David A |

OUTSTANDING!!! Great Train Ride REAL Steam. Equipment in excellent condition. We did not get the opportunity to take the shop tour, but would highly recommend it. I have been going to Strasburg railroad since 1964, great tradition!

The trip is the experience, not the destination

By SoHaGal |

We had a lovely ride on 8/18/2023. Thanks to Robert who counseled my husband on the 7PM sunset train, which suited our group of 3 adults better than the 5PM Bonnie & Clyde Experience. We really appreciated Donald the conductor, who was available to answer questions before, during, and after the ride. We only wish that the audio in the open air car had been a little clearer -- it was hard to catch all the narration.

All aboard!

By Lisa M |

This is my second ride. If you like to visit the Lancaster area, you must do this at least once. Bonus - it's open on Sundays when a lot of places are not. Visited the General Store and had a bite to eat in the 1832 Cafe. It's a great little old-timey experience. I highly recommend booking one of the open cars for the best views.

Day Out with Thomas 2023

By Alex M |

Family and I went there for Day Out with Thomas. It was fantastic! Thomas pulls coaches under his own steam power (not pushed by another train like at some other railways). It was a perfect experience. Strasburg Rail Road does an amazing job! There was also a nursing station inside an old rail car (retrofitted with A/C) for our baby to escape the heat for a few minutes and eat.

Awesome 👍

By HERMAN T |

Awesome as always! We did the cheese and wine 🍷 trip. Selena was awsome and professional. Thank you to everyone who works so hard to keep this station going!

Wonderful

By Jay L |

I’ve done several steam rides and this one was the best I’ve rode so far. The train shop tour was the wonderful and taught me so much. If you’re a steam train fan you’ll love this place.

Scenic train ride with Santa but skip the meal!

By Carl H |

I recently took my family, including my two small grandchildren, on the Strasburg Railroad's Santa's Paradise Express Brunch 45-minute train ride. The train ride itself was excellent, and we really enjoyed it along with Santa and the entertainment, which included two carolers and two musicians separately going through the train cars singing or playing Christmas music. Our disappointment was with the brunch itself, given the total expense of the experience. I paid over $400 for 5 adults and 2 under five years of age. I knew the meals would be pre-prepared, but I still expected better quality and tasting food and was also disappointed that a small drink, hot chocolate, juice and/or water, was not included. You had to pay extra for drinks. The eggs were bland tasting and whatever spread they put on the bread was unappetizing. They would have been better off giving you jam or butter. I probably would recommend just doing the train ride and skipping the meal if you want to do this adventure.

Buy tickets online ticket window is bad

By Brad H |

Great experience and ride. Buy your tickets online the ticket window staff will tell you only the basic open air is available even when you can buy and pay more for the much better experience online. Overall highly recommend and will do again but the ticket window guy today (10/10 for the first ride of day) clearly does not care about the company or customers

Relaxing historical ride

By Q4942JUchads |

We had a great train ride with very friendly staff. My 12 year old was into the historical orientation that the conductor gave while moving. I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere in the first class 118 car. The snacks of course were top notch.

Great train ride and performance.

By Kerrin V |

Great food and atmosphere. We got the pulled pork and everyone loved it. The actors in the Bonnie and Clyde show were funny and brought great energy. The scenery was beautiful. Definitely worth the money. Book in advance it does sell out.

Simply fun!!

By John W |

What a fun experience! We just did the 45 minute train ride in a first class car and only wish the ride had been longer! We will definitely be back for "Dinner on the Rails".

Strasburg Railroad

By Estelle J |

Smooth ride, beautiful scenery and very interesting information about the area and it's history. Enjoyed a mimosa as well!

Fun for all ages!!

By J L |

My family and I really enjoyed visiting Strasburg Rail Road! My children are little and my parents came along. We all enjoyed it!! The atmosphere was so cute! The kids loved playing on the playground toy train. We LOVED the train ride! And even enjoyed a bite to eat at the Cafe! We had a wonderful time! If we return, we would definitely include the train museum across the street and the Cherry Farms play place!! You really can spend the whole day in the area if you want.

Rail Riding fun in Ronks !

By lisa schroeter |

An absolute must do in Lancaster - not only an historic ride, but one that takes you through beautiful country side - especially in the Fall. Kudos to the staff for making the parlor car journeys so much fun (with delightful beverages and snacks!) - fun for family and friends!

Quaint Train Ride

By Patricia F |

It was a 45 minute roundtrip. It was a trip through the beautiful Amish countryside. The train is a very old fashion one. Everything was quaint, clean and relaxing. loved it.

1st Time Visiting

By Wander09091963982 |

Throughly enjoyed our trip. It was comfortable and staff were friendly and helpful. The narrative was entertaining and informative.

Next time we will plan a rude

By FernWanderlust |

Worth a visit. We didn’t plan well and weren’t able to fit in a ride, but we will next time. The scenery looks beautiful from some YouTube videos. We did get to watch the resin take off and visit the shops. Pretty area.

Will definitely plan a ride during a nice weather visit.

Ride the rails of yesteryear

By regular income traveler |

We arrive an hour early to get our tickets, browse the gift shops and watch the stage show.
The entire area is pristine, restrooms are very clean, they have a nice playground for the children.
Every single staff member is dressed in period costume, they are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and courteous.
This was our 2nd time here, first time for my son and d-I- l. We all had the most wonderful time.
The coach car we were in was just refurbished and the attention to detail was amazing.
The ride through Amish countryside was delightful. The commentary was informative, loved the area where we stopped to listen to the train whistle of the “ ghost train” i just got a kick out of that.
I just wish it was a longer ride because it’s so enjoyable.
We are definitely going back !!

Unique View of Amish Farms

By Joan E |

This was a fun little outing on a beautiful autumn day ... the 40 some minute ride out and back on refurbished train cars (ours car #118 was built in 1911). The ride goes through farmland, much of it Amish owned, and we were lucky enough to watch the farmers, their families, and their livestock work together, without benefit of gas powered machinery, to harvest the fields and prepare them for the winter.

I have a few recommendations for ensuring that you have a great trip:
1) Check out the different types of cars available for your ride. We rode in one of the First Class Lounge Cars which only costs a few dollars more than other options. We sat in very comfortable upholstered swivel chairs which allowed us to face directly out the windows next to us. On a beautiful day, the open air car looked like it would be fun as well, especially for a photographer who wishes to not be impeded by window glass or wooden window frames.
2) If possible, sit on the right hand side of the train. This will be the side closest to the station when you board. You get view after view of beautifully kept farmland and houses. Far too often. the view from the left side was directly into a hill with no vista view at all.
3) We were on the first trip out of the morning and it worked out really well for us. We were able to board earlier than advertised. The hostess had time to take our orders (there is a alcoholic/non-alcoholic drink menu and some sweet and savory munchies) and serve us before the train left the platform. On our return, the whole process looked to be much more rushed ... we were disembarking, others were getting on and finding their seats, and in just a few minutes the train was headed off on its run. I'm sure that they have the process down to a science but we enjoyed the very leisurely pace afforded by being in the first run of the day.

Extraordinary time on the Santa Claus train!

By Sandra C |

We took our preschool to the first class Santa Claus car! We received top notch treatment with hot cocoa, cookies, and an extremely wonderful visit with Santa! He gave the children candy canes and train whistles and hugs all around. The children were able to dance with him too! This trip exceeded our expectations for sure!

Fun ride in the Open Air car!

By chaz3ny |

Fun experience and right across the road from the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. My grandson and I had a good ride in the open air car. Staff were all friendly and seemed knowledgeable about the area and the equipment.

Amazing scenic train ride through the Amish countryside

By travelingpaddy |

Highly recommend. What a beautiful ride through the Amish countryside. About 45 minutes. Got there at 2pm just as the train was taking off. Was able to book their last train. I recommend taking the open air coach. Staff friendly and so many opportunities to take beautiful pictures. While we waited there were a few stores and a cafe to stop by.

A Nice Little Getaway

By surnhc x |

Always a wonderful experience! The staff are friendly and helpful, the grounds and the train are well maintained - neat & clean. The views from the train of the surrounding area are lovely.

History in motion - early Rail travel

By Jan1606 |

The train ride was a great experience for both us and the grand-kids! We got to rest for a little bit while the kids were eating and waving at people as we passed by parks and playgrounds. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience - for different reasons. When we brought the kids home, they were so excited to tell their mom and dad about all the things we had done during our trip to the Lancaster area it was quite the picture of pleasure. Needless to say, we based in the glory for at least a few minutes! The food was good - the cream soda was a favorite. We all enjoyed the narration as we rode along. A fun way to spend a few hours especially after a busy morning.

That was a great outing. I haven't been here in decades. It's a great piece of working history. It's like traveling back in time

By creativewoods |

It's been decades since I've visited the railroad. The train and crew were outstanding. I highly liked this for couples or families

a bit pricey

By spinman15 |

The station area and train are top notch. Live entertainment, small diner, toy store and souvenir shop provided at the station. We rode the highest price car for the 45 minute train ride & thought the $40 each price was a bit much. No refreshments included & a small skit put on that had to compete with the narrative being presented over speakers so the skit was worthless. The ride itself was pleasant & relaxing. We did see some Amish working the land with horse drawn equipment. The Pa. Railroad Museum is just across the street.

Anniversary Date

By Cyndy B |

My husband, Ponch and I rode the dinner train for the 2nd time to celebrate our 31st Anniversary. We went 2 years ago to celebrate. We absolutely love it. Great atmosphere, Santa was awesome and the staff are amazing. Looking to take a few of our grandbabies in April.

Discount

By Nancy K |

This is a nice train ride in the Amish country with a good view of farms and fields of corn. Unfortunately, they do not offer an active duty or veterans discount -- sad.

Very pleasant ride on the train

By Brian M |

We enjoyed a nice ride on a beautiful day. Landscape interesting with points of interest along the route. We rode in first class cars, great swivel chairs to see everything, very nice attendant to take orders too. Not a long trip, but it seemed perfect for our interest. Staff extremely nice and train cars clean. The restoration work is so impressive

Save Your Money AND Your Safety!

By D Lyn F |

On Saturday, October 21, 2023 my husband and I and a few friends attended the train ride "Legacy of Sleepy Hollow." During the event, one of the characters all dressed in a sheer black outfit ran down the isle and ran into my husband who was looking back at the actors and what was going on. The actor was hunched over and as he ran, he rammed his shoulder into the side of husband's face (they were the same height) as my husband was sitting and the actor was hunched over running down the isle. The impact from the blow knocked my husband's glasses off and cut his left eye. He thought his eye was watering, but infact it was blood from the cut. Today there is a bit of bruising and black and blue as well. The actor stopped the production to see if my husband was okay...the lights were out the whole time and after my husband found his glasses two rows over, with the help of my phone's flashlight, the actor told my husband that must have hurt him, because his shoulder hurt as well and production began again. He did apologize.
This was a very unfortunate accident. Besides the speaker, there were only two actors in our car the whole time. We were left stopped, in pitch black darkness listening to 25 minutes or more of some God awful horror music while my husband dealt with his injury, in the dark!
The actor said he'd get someone and infact that did not happen. We just sat there waiting and listening to this awful music. The production was not even as it was described and we spent the majority of the time sitting there thinking it was us who was holding up the rest of the train ride. That was not the case. After no one came to our aid, we started heading back to the train station. Still no one. It was such a bad experience for both of us and a humiliating experience for him as the whole section of our car witnessed this, some did ask if he was okay. I have never in my life felt so neglected after an incident. I emailed them and wrote exactly what I wrote here and no one responded. Three days later I email again wondering why there was no response. They did send a message that said they forwarded the message to management.....well they never contacted us either! Just crickets!! We paid over a hundred dollars to be injured and embarrassed! Not to mention a less than pleasant experience with the "production." This was not at all what was advertised! Shame on them for their lack of compassion towards their guests. Save your money AND your safety!

As charming as I remember

By Lena H |

Wonderful train ride. 45 min - perfect for little kids. Bring a cooler with lunch! They make a stop at a picnic area (includes a playground) and you can catch the next train, an hour later.
They have a restaurant on-site, a few gift shops, and on the weekend they do live entertainment right there (apparently, some characters hold the train! Sounds exciting).
We talked to Joel who was nice enough to tell us all about the station, the shows and experiences provided, and the development in the last years.

Beautiful train station. They have a playground for kids - factor that in when you plan a visit!

Absolutely wonderful experience. The end stop is Paradise - looking as awful as I remember it from 10 years ago. I loved the comment of the guide that ‘Let’s be real-for some of us this is as close to paradise as will get!’ Haha, best comment. Highly recommend!

Surprise......

By LaVa Touristik |

.......because we were driving through "Amish County" in a relaxed manner and we expected everything, but not the "Strasburg Rail Road" (which, as the name correctly suggests, has its station in the small town of Strasburg [although the "company headquarters" is given as the unincorporated community of Ronks in Lancaster County]).

Shop Tour

By Greg K |

Did a shop tour with my grandson, had a wonderful time. Tour guide was friendly and informative and took the time to answer all questions. A great time, would highly recommend.

Perfectection!

By Lynn S |

Christmas Santa Express is a must!!!! Will become a tradition in our family for young and older! It was a magical visit. Clean, gorgeous train, carolers, musicians, Santa and Mrs. Clause, presents, nothing more needed!

Family train mini adventure

By Nadine G |

Food was soggy, but delicious . Drinks were yummy. Trading clean neat. Train ride with information nice touch. Could have been a little longer ride.

Big disappointment: no spooky story, no pre-show to speak of, just a train ride

By 986denicek |

What a disappointment. I read an article from last year that said “The train stops several times to show scenes outdoors, including horseback sword fights and graveyard standoffs.” Well there was none of that. The pre-ride show started 25 minutes late, and was nothing more than two show tunes. No story line at all. And the singers were mic’ed but the mics weren’t working. Then we boarded the train. The train ride was nice enough but it was out and back with no stops at all. Just a train ride. There was an attempt at storytelling on board, but it was just an abbreviated recitation of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Then a bit later Isabella appears on board but you couldn’t follow her storyline at all. We disembarked wondering what was that even about? For $220, we expected a lot more. I don’t get it.

Great Christmas experience for kids.

By Mark M |

Went on one of their Christmas trains. It was so well done. Musicians played Christmas songs, Carolers sang songs and a visit from Santa all in a 45 minute ride. Well worth the money spent.

Taste of the Past

By robert albert |

It like a taste of the past. What it was like long ago. The coach car is very clean and well kept. We plan on coming back for a few days in the summer. Stay at the Red caboose motel and stay in a caboose. Neat!

Nice ride

By lizakq |

This was a nice experience for the whole family. We got the coach tickets and the seats were pretty comfortable. It is a round trip (45 min) and it's also educational. It was really a smooth ride.

Disney world quality, more reasonable prices!

By Michele R |

Top notch in every regard. This experience exceeded our expectations easily. From the uniformed train attendants, clear instructions at every step, beautiful facilities and grounds, options for picnicking, Cafe, toy store, gift shop and other facilities, to the gorgeous train ride, everything was outstanding! We had a fabulous time and discussed making a future trip back to enjoy it some more. All 3 of us picked out souvenirs, which is quite unusual for our family. Definitely 5 stars!

Legend of Sleepy Hollow Train Experience

By MarloD |

My husband and I took the Legend of Sleepy Hollow train ride recently. The actors were great, but most of the event was riding the train looking out the window at darkness listening to (scary?) music. We anticipated that there would be "spooky things" to see as we rode. There weren't. We wouldn't do it again, nor would we recommend. But again..... kudos to the actors.
We HAVE taken the train several times over the years during the day. That is enjoyable and we will continue to do so.

Wine tasting on the train

By Sandra G |

As soon as the train moved, we received a lovely tasting board with 3 cheeses and 3 wine tastings. Enjoyed a glass of our favorite (or selected from assorted wines and beers for return ride.)
Very relaxing. Train car was amazing. The train ride was 45 minutes round trip through the fields of Lancaster.
I would repeat.

Good for children

By Tom F |

This was an awesome experience. Live locomotive train rides dating back to rester years.. staff very friendly. Great for all ages

Hidden Gem

By Odyssey62794305750 |

On Saturday night, we had dinner on the 6:00 Train and we had a fabulous time. Each month, the Strasbourg Railroad Dinner Car has former dinning in one of the food coaches. When we boarded the train, we were escorted to a beautiful white linen table with a delicious cheese and meat platter was waiting. Once the train started, we were served with salad, entry and dessert. The waitress was very pleasant and efficient at her job. This was our second time going on the trip, and it won't be the last time we do this.

Riding in luxury

By susanaM471BH |

We had a great time with our family. The scenery was beautiful, the commentary was very good. The luxury car was air conditioned and very comfortable. It was a very relaxing ride.

The Strasburg RR Ride!

By DJ B |

We (my daughter & I) took a trip on the Strasburg RR with a group from the Hockessin Athletic Club's "EPIC Community Social Saturday!" It was a great time to celebrate friends, fun, family, and, of course, the train ride!

Open air cart if hot and humid! Bonnie and Clyde experience

By PowerSurge76 |

Went on a hot and humid Sunday evening for the Bonnie and Clyde experience. The 15 minute pre show was next to the engine that is getting ´ready’ to go so the steam Engine produced noise making the play difficult to hear.

We and multiple other people got onto the train in the open air carts at the front but had to move to the back carts where the show continued. Unfortunately no air conditioning in what I believe was the coach carts so the small windows made it uncomfortable due to the heat.

The show was ok, but I can see it would be more enjoyable with kids.

The ride was ok, but no narration because of the play (and play only goes on for less the half the trip)

Due to the weather, my wife and I felt we would have had better value just booking the regular train ride with narration in the open air carts.

Great Train Ride / Poor Quality Food

By Daniel H |

We enjoyed the train ride in the dining car #93. The meal was not that enjoyable, especially for the price. The amount of pork in the pulled pork sandwich was meager and dry.

A suggestion is for you to provide packs of mayo and barbeque sauce. Also, a drink should be included in the price for the meal. ( Not an additional charge )

Pleasant Ride

By Alisa K |

Pleasant trip aboard the train. My 21 yr old son and I were in the open air car. It was a hot day and it was so nice to have the breeze. About 45 minute ride and it was a nice scenic trip.

A really nice experience for the whole family

By ynkhtr19 |

Found the railroad researching activities for our summer road trip with a 4 and 6 yo. I decided to book lunch for us on the train as it made sense based on our schedule that day. Everything about the railroad was wonderful. Our only disappointment is the little "cranky" trains which are mini trains the kids can drive were not in service during our time there. The train ride itself was great. Food and drink were excellent including the adult beverages. The conductor giving the narration was very informative. My only recommendation is in the hot summer months, either book the dining car with food or one of the first class lounges as these are climate controlled. As much as the open air cars looked nice, we've been on one too many trains in the hot summer that just left us dripping with sweat wondering when the ride would be over. A nice bonus is there are several different spots on their campus with activities such as a playground and escape room which provide entertainment if you have time to spare or are waiting for your train.

Great ride and scenery

By Deborah B |

This was a very good ride. The person at the ticket window was nice and changed our car since the one we booked for didn’t have working air conditioning. The wine and cheese platter were great and reasonably priced. The only thing that was a little annoying was there was someone in our car the employees seemed to know. They were talking really loudly with him to the point we couldn’t hear overhead what was being said about our surroundings. It lasted for most of our trip

Great experience!

By Dannysha D |

We had an excellent experience aboard the train! We selected the wine and cheese experience. You receive a wine flight with 3 different options. Each wine is paired with cheese and snacks. You are provided with one full glass of wine after making your top selection from the wine flight. All of this is included in the price! There are beautiful views of the surrounding area and there are excellent seating options.

Way overpriced!!!!

By Diana D |

Don't waste your money. Trip was extremely overpriced for what amounted to a 9 mile ride! Road 4 miles, looked at lovely farmland (grandkids could have cared less), turned around a road another 4 back. I thought the kids might have learned something about life here and so forth; however, it's impossible to understand the narrator, when you do manage to hear him. I am still not over the fact that I paid $166.00 for an ALMOST 45 minute ride for 3 adults (one grandson was 12), and 4 10 year olds. Robbery if you asked me. I would not visit again.
