Who doesn't love a free gondola ride? Be sure to get off at the half way point for incredible views of the ski trails! Great ride to the Mountain Village too - make sure you walk around there. It's all free -as the gondola is part of the public transit system. Hooray for Telluride!

We thoroughly enjoyed riding the gondolas during our visit to Telluride. Beautiful views! There were no fees to ride and the staff were very helpful getting in and out. Be sure and ride at night also!

My teens agreed that of all the things we did on our quick New Mexico/Colorado road trip this year, their day spent in and around Telluride was the best, and they absolutely LOVED the gondolas! I didn't tell them about them before we arrived, so they were surprised when we hopped on...but the weather was perfect that day and the views from the gondola are absolutely amazing! If you are traveling through town, I would recommend the FREE and easy parking in the Mountain Village Garage. It's so simple to park and to find the gondola entrance....and then you just hop on the gondola! No tickets to buy, no long lines, no confusing directions....it's really THAT simple! We rode to the next stop and then got off and got on another gondola....again, so simple, because as soon as you exit one, you'll see where to get on the other. This second one took us to the top of San Sophia, but in summer, you DON'T exit here....you just ride through the station and then it takes you down the hill into Telluride and what a view. Wow! Have your camera ready. The total trip was maybe 15 minutes? We got off the gondola in Telluride and went east a couple of blocks to the main street. Lots of cute shops, places to eat, and great spots to people watch. I know most locals probably use the gondola frequently and don't even think anything about it, but it's really a wonderful asset to their community and a great way to see this mountain town!

Fun with family - rode from Mountain Village to Telluride. Super friendly staff. Cool shopping in Telluride.

Telluride's gondola system provides free transportation between the town of Mountain Village and the town of Telluride. It's the first and only free public Gondolla of its kind in North America. Really super cool! My son enjoyed his pizza 🍕 on the Gondola 🚠ride!

We were here on a sunny summer day. But there was only a 5 minute lane. The view is totally worth to go and good start location for hikes.

Just attended my second telluride blues festival and we rode the gondola between telluride and mountain village several times! What a great way to get between the two towns! It seemed as though I met someone interesting every time I got on it!

The first thing we did upon arrival in Telluride was take the gondola up for an amazing view of the valley. This truly is the best way to see Telluride. Additionally, the views change with every bit of elevation but all of them are incredible. Unfortunately the bar my friend wanted to visit was closed for a private event. Still, the ride was incredible and enjoyed by all.

We made the mistake of visiting Telluride on a weekend and there was a movie festival going on, so finding parking spot was not easy. But once we did we walked down Main Street and walked to the gondolas and rode to the top (get off at the first stop) and had lunch. It has beautiful views and you can see the city from up there for great photos. AND ITS FREE!

Great sightseeing experience ! Kids loved it ! Really convenient to get from Mountain Village to Telluride! Best part is it’s free !! Go on it at night !! What a sight !

We took our whole family in the Gondola ride. This was free and very beautiful views from the way up and down. Lasted about 30 minutes.

Making southwestern road trip and came from Ridgway/ Montrose for John Wayne sites on way to Mesa Verde and Monument valley/ Arches and as a skier always wanted to see Telluride. Price was right for the Gondy ride

We loved this ride after a long afternoon of hiking. We stayed on till Mountain Village and had a beer at a nearby cafe. The line was long but we were on in 10 minutes. Everything is sterilized before you get in. Highly recommend.

Better keep moving - it doesn't stop! The view is beautiful, and my family was so grateful it was free. I was a little concerned for families with small children and older adults who aren't very sure-footed. It can be dangerous getting on and off, so be careful and hold on to everyone. We greatly enjoyed shopping in Telluride, and we also were lucky enough to catch the market on Wednesday afternoon. Lots of fun vendors with yummy and beautiful items for sale.

When I read about the gondolas it went on my "must do" list when we were traveling to Colorado.
I am afraid of heights and do NOT do amusement park rides due to fear but for some reason this appealed to me!
I'm so glad that I went up! The movement is slow and I think maybe only one time did I feel a slight stomach drop feeling while riding.
The views are amazing! The gondola ride is free! If I had more time (we did this in the evening right before we were leaving Telluride) I probably would have gone up two or three times.
I chose NOT to sit next to the door but in the middle of two people which helped me feel less fearful.

Telluride is tied together by Mountain Village Gondola. It is free, and we are able to go to "old" telluride for amazing dinners.

Usually enjoy this experience but had a bad experience with one of the lift operators, I requested that only the two people in my party get on the lift, the operator kind of got an attitude with me, made us get off the lift and told us to wait. Totally disappointed by his attitude. I did contact the company and they truly apologized so I appreciated that. Other than that this is a great activity to do while you are in Telluride.

The gondola ride to Mountain Village is about 15 minutes. The folks working the stations are super nice. It is a great way to see all of Telluride for free!

Best way to see views and get around. I word of advise to those who arent used to high elevations, gondolas gain elevation very quickly, doesnt affect alot of people but it may affect you. We kinda rushed around mountain village and ate. Husband got ill, this had happen to me in Keystone. Just thought Id pass on this info.

We loved the views from the gondola. It’s super convenient. We never had to wait too long to grab a gondola.

We parked in the free parking lot and walked to the base of the gondola. It is FREE, which is just unheard of. It stopped at mid-station, which actually offered the best view down to the town of Telluride.
At the top station, you can pick up the second gondola to take you to the village. A lot of people were taking advantage of the good weather. Many hiker and bikers.
We found that in the morning there were 0 wait. When we made our way back to town, a short line started to form. We visited during the weekday as well.
Definitely very fun and worth the time.

We could not believe that you could not only Park for Free, but also Ride the Gondola for Free also!
The view from the Gondola is incredible! We also rode the Gondola in the Fall to see the Autumn leaves!

We went all the way to mountain village. It was such a nice experience! The views were incredible and we even had good conversations with a few locals. I was still in awe that it’s free! If I lived here I’d just ride it everyday for fun. 🤷🏽‍♀️

The gondola is so convenient to get from Mountain Village to Telluride. A nice smooth ride with incredible views all around especially in the summer. I highly recommend riding during sunset. The views and light are stunning.

This was such a beautiful way to see the mountains and get to Mountain View and back. And it’s free! Met some nice people on it.

Love Telluride. It’s my favorite place on earth along with Ouray

Telluride blends outdoor adventure, rich history, and a lively cultural scene, making it a must-visit destination in Colorado! Have you been there before, or are you planning a trip?

The ride was wonderful! Easy access from either end of the gondola. People riding bikes, walking with their dog(s), all was good. The views and colors did NOT disappoint. Thanks Telluride for opening this up for everyone and anyone to ride!

We have traveled around the globe. This is by far the safest, easiest, cleanest free transportation ANYWHERE. All that Telluride has to offer is a scenic walk or ride away.

A great way to get around Mountain Village to Telluride. We saw elk as we rode ! We also used it to go to Allred Restaurant on top of the mountain.

Parking in Telluride is EXTREMELY limited, but parking in Mountain Village is abundant. The gondola between the two is efficient, and the views are stunning. Well managed, well attended, and well run all around.

Thank goodness for the Telluride Mountain Village Gondola! It was right outside our hotel door, and made it so easy to get to the other side of the mountain. Whether for skiing, or just to go to eat, it made it easy to get around. We parked the car when we arrived, and never had to drive any where during our weekend stay! So convenient!

We stayed on the Mountain Village side vs. in town Telluride. The gondolas were an easy (free) way to get into Telluride without having to drive. They were clean, disinfected between passengers and fun. One night coming home from "town", it was a starry night and the Big Dipper was HUGE from our gondola window. Magnificent!!

A true gem right at the center of beautiful Telluride. Kids enjoyed the adventure of going up and down. We loved the views from the top - typical Colorado with green and white, even in Summer! Took a short stroll on the hill and got down.

Terrific way to get up and own the mountain for various activities. Whether going mid-mountain for coffee or all the way down for Telluride activities. Stayed at the top at Mountain Lodge and this was a terrific mode of transportation during our weeklong stay. Whether going out for drinks, food or hiking.

This was a fun thing to do, but not that long. We went in the summer, so we were not there for the skiing. It was fun to ride it up to the top and get out and check it out. The cool part is it is free, and dogs are allowed on the odd number carts. If in the area, you should check it out because it is a neat experience and has fantastic views from the top. It was also straightforward to get on and off, so everyone could get on and off.

The gondola was the best time there it gives quick and easy transportation so can live in telluride and still go to mountain village without renting a car

It’s free! We really enjoyed the staff, the ride and the of course the views. Be ready when entering and exiting the gondola.

Really loved the gondola service. Can't beat free! It gave us wonderful views, and we got to enjoy both villages plus the San Sophia overlook. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

It's the first and only free transportation of it's kind in the country. The views that you get overlooking Telluride are breathtaking. I would recommend getting off at the first stop to walk around and enjoy the views before getting back on to finish the ride to the village.
The gondola is kept clean and they are comfortable and some have bike racks so people can go back & forth between the town & village. We didn't hike the trails but there were plenty at the first stop above the town. If you take the time to ride it you won't regret it.
Remember it's free so how bad can it be...haha!

Had my doubts something like this existed for free but it's true! Incredible gondola ride up the mountain from Telluride to Mountain Village. You can stop at the halfway point if you wish to hike from there or stay on and end up in Mountain Village. Wife and I had a private Gondola as did everyone else as it wasn't a busy time. Crazy good views during the ride - don't miss this one - fun for all ages!

You will for sure enjoy the value of your money. You will prove for yourself why the place has been named "Village Gondola"

Transport between Mountain Village and Telluride can't be beat. Our last night we rode it at 10pm just for the fun.

The Gondola gets you to Telluride, down to the market, to the ski school, and to Alred's restaurant. All for free. No lines and always working, Great setup.

Not only a beautiful ride!! I took the gondola from Mountain Village to Telluride at least once every day. It was quick, comfortable and so easy - barely 15 minutes.

We made a trip after doing half of the million dollar highway to ride the gondola and enjoy the views. Unfortunately for us it started raining as we got closer. We still decided to ride. The views were still good, but with the fog and rain you had to wait until closer to telluride to see the town. It was raining quite hard so we didn’t take the time to see the town or much or mountain village itself.
We parked at the parking garage in mountain village. It was easy access to the gondola. Both were free. One transfer and we were at the bottom. We got off then right back on because of the weather.
Can’t wait to hopefully come back when it’s nice. The views from the ride would be amazing. I would also like to enjoy walking around both towns a little.

The free gondola cannot be beat! Stayed in Mountain Village and took the gondola into Telluride and back several times on our trip. Riding it in the pitch dark was also crazy cool. We actually saw a brown bear from above.

No charge for all gondola rides as they are considered public transportation to reduce traffic and parking in Telluride ... Great Views from the Gondola .. You can get off and on at your leisure

What a wonderful time we had enjoying the gondola. The folks working the gondola are friendly and so helpful. We rode the gondola multiple times during our vacation and had an excellent time each time. The views are fantastic.

Great little trip up the mountain! Spectacular views with the Allred restaurant at the top. Next trip in the fall or winter!

Our trip up was the best. The continual rise leads to ever-increasing beautiful views of the mountains surrounding Telluride. Up top, the Mountain Village area is fun to explore and find eats and drinks of all kinds. The ride down, lovely as it is, fails to exhilarate like the ascent. Still, overall, this is an amazing opportunity to see the area from this elevated viewpoint.

My 8 year old daughter said this was one of her favorite parts of our trip. The workers were all polite and doing their job. It is a free gondola ride that stops at St. Sophia then at Mountain Village. Beautiful view of the city! Highly recommend it for the experience if you have children

This is a must do when in Telluride, it's free! We arrived late afternoon and went to Mountain Village for happy hour. Then we went back to town just before dark. The town below was sparkling and the mountain backdrop was stunning!

The gondola is a great way to get around the area and see the fall colors! You never have to wait more than a few minutes.

A great way to get to and from the Village. Service was good always on time and cabins always clean.

This was a great experience going up and down the beautiful mountain slops. Did it several times going from the resort hotel to downtown Telluride.

This was way cool and unexpected- free rides on the gondola.
Some marketing person hopefully received a bonus for dreaming this up.
The ride up and view from the top are certainly worth giving this a try
And take my word for it- nothing else is free In Telluride

The ride is great. With wonderful views efficient service and a great price. Of course with all the bikers it does take longer to get up or down.

I mean what is not to love about the free and fun ride over mountain view village as well as the ride up to the mountain and down to telluride or vice versa. Try to do this at least a few times on each trip and it never gets old. Views are fantastic and actually with covid only place in town where anyone seems to care about it and masks are required only here at this point. Which seems super odd but also means you get to ride by yourself on the gondola. Not sure why but i will say Telluride seemed pretty nonchalant about covid rules considering how many visitors they have.

Perfect way to increase you hotel options when staying in the area. This free gondola gets you back and forth between Telluride and Mountain Village within 8 mins.
The views are amazing on either side as you go to the top of the ridge and then down.
I would recommend a late night stop on a clear night as the view of the stars are amazing. While the restaurant is closed if you speak with the station attendants they will let you out to walk to the side of the station that leads to the trails. It is dark, so you don’t have to walk too far away. Let you eyes adjust to the lack of light and the stars reveal themselves. We were able to see the Milky Way. Breath taking.
Staff was always friendly and quick with answers to local questions.

Great way to see the area. Free gondola with amazing views. It connects the town with the mountain village. Runs until late during the winter.

A must when you visit Telluride. Free ride up the mountain. Great views; great opportunity to take pics. Get off at Mountain Village for drinks or food.

Free, easy, fun! Mode of transportation for locals and visitors and great way to kill time with gorgeous views for kiddos. To make it more fun has be your kids wave at the passing gondolas and see who waves back.

Since it was my first trip to Telluride, it was amazing to see that they had a free gondola service to the mountain village. You can still choose to drive there, but the gondola is so easy and offers beautiful views!

The free gondola is a fantastic asset to Telluride making the mountain accessible to all. In the morning the staff at the bottom were very helpful loading skis onto the gondola and we would have really appreciated the same service on the way down at the end of a tiring ski day.

This is great. Just three blocks from Main St. Runs till midnight I believe. You can ride it as many times as you want free of charge. Take it up to the top of the mountain for a beautiful view of Telluride! It’s also an easy and fun way to go from Telluride to the Mountain Village and back.

This is a gorgeous ride to and from Mountain Village. We appreciated the mask on policy as we shared the ride a few times. No wait times made for quick trips! Very organized and friendly staff.

Came to visit for 3 nights. Views are amazing is a must to take the Gondola. It’s pretty amazing ride

We used to come to Telluride in the late 80's and early 90's when there was no Gondola or bus service either, a hassle!!!. Although there were certainly fewer people back then, the Gondola has made it possible to not need a car at all in Telluride. It runs from 6:00 am to 12:00am everyday and is so efficient and clean making travel to both the town of Telluride and Mountain village very easy!!!

FREE !!! Operated by the Telluride town transportation operator, at no charge. Of all the places in the world to ride a gondola, these views and good company, combined, cannot provide a better value and a better, more exceptional experience. Really enjoyed being able to hop on and hop off with very little wait time. Great job, Telluride Town leaders!

Cheap easy, thrills a little daunting getting started figuring out how to get off and on in an out of the gondola
Just different lots of signage just stand there. Lots of staff lots of assistance as needed.
The views, the scenery!
Too easy this morning had my breakfast, leftover pizza riding up and over and then down into Telluride
Coming back later to Mountain Village had lunch

This is great for sightseeing when you get tired. There is a great nature center and a market at the top where you can get food and sit outside and rest alittle. We saw lots of porqupines!!!!

I previously reviewed my experience with the Mesa Verde National Park 1/2 Day Tour, which was a guided tour by our tour guide from, Mild & Wild Rafting & Jeep Tours, Tosh Black.
My wife and I read a lot about the Gondolas in Telluride that are used for public transportation to and from Market Village. The Mountain Views in Telluride are exotic. There is a wide platform that provides a just magnificent view of the mountains, greenery, and the city. A wedding was planned for that afternoon. Telluride is not for the cheap. We ate lunch at a very nice restaurant that provided great food and excellent service. The prices were quite reasonable too.

Connecting the Town of Telluride to Mountain Village transcends socioeconomic classes and reaches many demographics.

Free gondola, easy to get on and off. We went during COVID time and they sanitized the gondolas between each group. Also easy to get dogs on and off! Highly recommend

The first leg goes up about 2500 feet in elevation. Of course the box canyon that is Telluride looks fantastic when viewed from the gondola. The second leg down to Mountain Village shows some different background scenery and is also good for watching the ski trails/biking trails.
The 2 legs of the trip seem to take about 15 minutes. It’s also very cool that the individual cars have bike racks in ski racks. Each car has two padded benches which face each other and would be comfortable for six people. We rode once to go to a reception in Mountain Village and twice just because it was cool. Oh, and when riding facing Mountain Village on the second leg, Mount Wilson - AKA the Coors Logo Mountains are available for phots to the left.

Telluride has a free gondola up to the mountain peak, at 10,500 feet. There are various activities up there, but we were there around sunset. There are free concerts on the mountain at times. You can continue on for free to Mountain Village for free. There are hotels and restaurants there, and more activities. Finally, you can go one more stop to the Market Plaza. We went on the gondola for the views. Very nice.

Such a fun experience we weren’t aware was free when we drove into town! With restaurants & another town as you go up this was a fun experience especially for the kids & easy entertainment. Lines weren’t long & there was still lots of snow at the top!

This gondola is so easy and so good. Just jump on and take it up the mountain. It's a reasonably lengthy ride so it's not over in a flash, and you get some amazing views. Good stuff.

Staying in the Mountain Village complex, the gondola is the best (? only) way to make it down the hill in to the town itself. Good fun meeting and sharing the ride with other people as well!

The gondola is a great way to see the beautiful views of Telluride. We were staying in Mountain Village so the free ride was greatly appreciated. No worries about parking when visiting Telluride. We were lucky enough to be heading back to Mountain Village during sunset. Gorgeous!

We took the Gondola and the view was amazing!! I went with kids and they also have Gondola specific for animals too! And is for free!

I had a couple of hours before I had to leave, so just rode the gondola and met people. So much fun.

We loved taking the Gondola ride. We parked the car at the parking garage in Mountain Village (which was free) and then took the Gondola from the parking garage to mountain village and then transferred to the Gondola to Telluride. (Also free) such a great experience and way to spend a day.

What a VIEW! And the staff was very friendly and cleaning/sterilizing after each person/group got off each car.

Not only was the view great, but fun to ride. They are very well maintained. It makes going up to the Mountain Village easy. We ate up at Allred’s and enjoyed the total experience.

We stayed in the Mountain Village and took this into town each day and it was so easy. The staff is super friendly and even remind you that it closes down at 1:00 a.m. (very smart) so that you can have a few beers and not worry about trying to get back. The gondola is clean and super convenient. Use it rather than driving!

Hard to beat a free gondola ride from the base of Telluride to the top of San Sophia overlook. Nice view looking back down into Telluride. Take the free gondola down to Mountain Village. Or, hike the Ridge Trail down to Mountain Village if you can find the minimal signage and/or find someone to actually point you in the right direction to get to the trail. We asked an employee, and she kind of pointed off in one direction without seeming to care very much about assisting us. We had to ask some other people where the trail was. Even when we started on the trail, it forked, but there was no signage. Please work on your signage!

A short ride from telluride up the mountain. Not scary at all and the views going up to the top are breathtaking

We’ve ridden the gondola for the past two years and everyone loves it. From the town of Telluride you can get to Mountain Village in 12 minutes. The view is phenomenal and the sunrise and sunsets will take your breath away. I highly recommend the gondola ride.

The Telluride Mountain Village Gondola was a great, easy way to get from the Mountain Village to downtown Telluride. It was very convenient and there was a Galloping Goose bus stop right at the base of the Gondola. The views are always beautiful as you go over the mountains. I never had to wait very long in the line to get on the gondola and my family only had to share the gondola a couple of times. If you are visiting Telluride, I would suggest riding the gondola at least once to see the amazing views.

Great views! We have been up to Mtn Village several times. The gondola is great and a wonderful free amenity for residents and visitors to Telluride!!

The Gondola is fun and worth the trip, especially since it's free! The scenery is beautiful and the weather was nice.

We rode this gondola 4 times in our 2 day stay and wow the views were beautiful. The ride is fast and smooth. The sunsets where gorgeous. Even saw some elk and the slopes below. Great place to go to see the fall colors.

The gondola is free. The line is a little longer during COVID as they only put one family group in at a time and sanitize each gondola. It is a great way to se Telluride and the mountain bikers in Mountain Village. Nice to get away. Takes a little over 10 minutes for the ride.

...is that it's free! At the top there are hiking and mountain biking trails (you can bring your bike on board), along with great views, and shops and restaurants after another leg to Mountain Village. A must-do when in Western Colorado.

Great views from the top of the mountain and as you descend into the village and best of all it is for free

The gondola is fun and free. The day we were there in July it was pouring. Still we enjoyed ourselves taking the free gondola. The view is wonderful. The many cars come regularly, so there is likely a matter of seconds between getting into gondola cars. They also carry bicycles. We took it to Mountain Village and then got off to explore trails and the nature center. Then we got back on the gondola to Market Plaza and walked around there. One can also stay on the gondola and go straight to Market Plaza without getting out at Mountain Village. It is all one gondola just with a possible stop in between. All free one way or round trip.

This is THE BEST way to get between Telluride and Mountain Village and the best part is: IT'S FREE!!!!
Since COVID they only allow ONE PERSON per car.... (or family) so it's really nice!!!!
The gondolas are clean and the employees are friendly and helpful.

This! Needs to be done at quite a few other places. Awesome FREE public transportation with a view. Saves town proper from onslaught of cars. Took Mom on ride for 88th birthday, ate tacos in town, rode back. Stunning colors and vistas. Definitely worth the price of admission!

Loved the gondola ride!!! We went first thing in the morning so it wasn’t busy at all. We rode the gondolas all the way to Mountain Village and back it was such a pretty, peaceful ride, glad we went!! If you’ve never been you’ll have to do it at least once.

Great way to get from Telluride to Mountain Village and back (or vise versa). Great views and smooth ride.

If you are in Telluride, taking the gondola is a must! It offers stunning views of the area and is completely free. Yes, free! It’s the best way to get around and is not too busy. Highly recommend!

The views were amazing and the ride was free what more could you ask for. Riding at night was kind of scary because there are no lights inside of the gondola but it made it kind of fun as well.

What a wonderful, beautiful, ride. The fact that it was free was an added bonus. Did it in the summer month. Cannot imagine the beauty of a winter ride. Will have to go back

Breathtaking, knockout views, and amazing perspectives and FREE! Ride it even if you don’t need to go between the town of Telluride and Mountain Village! Take your family, friends, dog, bike, skis and on winter nights, your warmest clothes. FREE!!!! Nice people help you on and off. Oh yeah, FREE!

Didn’t know about this until I over heard people in the restaurant. Decided to check it out. Very glad I did! Easy to get on and off. The views were breathtaking! This is a must!

A group of us skied at Telluride and the Gondola is part of the lift complex. If you are in ski gear a pass is required, BUT IF YOU ARE NOT A SKIER, YOU RIDE FREE! You can load at the Village Market, ride to the center Village station, walk to the next building (entrance on the right side), board the Gondola headed to San Sofia station and either exit at the top of the mountain or ride down to the town of Telluride.
I first skied Telluride in 2014 and was so impressed with the scenery and gondola system that I returned with my wife in September for the autumn colors. As promised, the Gondola was free for us in September.
If you have never been to Telluride you will not be able to imagine the fantastic scenery awaiting you. Telluride is an old mining town situated in a box canyon. Mountains tower above you from nearly every vantage point! The gondola system puts you in some of the best seats to view the mountains without expending much energy.
Although my wife and I loved the gondola, the trip from San Sofia Station to town might challenge those have have fear of heights.
One suggestion often overlooked - take the gondola to San Sofia station about 30 minutes before sunset. The sun will set just behind Wilson Peak (the mountain from the Coors Beer Can) and the entire valley will be bathed in a warm red glow. On a good night your will be rewarded with some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in the world.

Every gondola ride made me smile. It is free and they let you put your bike on for free too. Wonderful way to link town and Mountain Village. Bring your bike and never move your car.

Amazing experience!
My wife and I too our boys on this today and it was epic!! Everything about it was amazing and the views were spectacular. We even took our dog and she was able to come aboard! Thank you Telluride!

The Gondola in the summer is free and affords excellent views of the Main Street and the surrounding mountains. It is well worth a try on your trip to Telluride.

A great way to see the mountain and to get to Mountain Village. We went to the ski slope and continued on the Village. Better than moving the car and parking!

Hey, did I mention FREE! Went to purchase a ticket to ride the Gondola to the top of the lift and down into the Mountain Village and guess what, NO Charge! The ride is smooth and the views... well just totally awesome anywhere you look! Way to go Telluride! Can't wait for the snow to ski there this winter!

This attraction, the gondola, is free. It was one of the highlights of visiting Colorado. It is definitely worth the drive into this community. The fall colors from the gondola were spectacular. It was so fun I wanted to do it again but we spent time in the town which was nice. The staff at the gondola were very nice and helpful. If you are afraid of heights, this may not be for you. It does stop once and awhile and there are a couple steep sections. I can’t wait to go back. I think the community of Telluride is so smart to offer this for free.you can then spend some time and money in the stores and restaurants. As a side note, the fall colors driving in and out of the area were very good. We visited in the middle of the afternoon and waited no more than 8-10minutes, the line was a little longer when we got back .You can get off the gondola at the top and visit shops and the restroom. Good COVID precautions.

Takes you from the mountain village to downtown Telluride. Easy to get on and off. Seats six individuals with ease.

One of the secret gems of skiing in the US... amazing terrain no light lines and great groomers.. if you want to ski on more challenging terrain that is possible too. Accommodations at the Franz Klammer lodge arr fantastic as well. Ski I. Ski out 4 star

Perfect way to see the city, the valley, the mountains and Mountain Village. And, it’s free! It’s a great way to explore.

It's said to be only single free gondola lift in the whole world. Which seems to be pretty unique. The cool thing about it that you can use it during winter for skiing as well as let yourself get up the hill with your mountain bike in summer. The views are amazing and lift is Swiss quality with suiting views. Staff is very helpful and willing to chat with you while waiting for the next cab. The most amazing staff member was Laura!

The G is perhaps one of the best features of Telluride/Mountain Village! Truly our kids could just ride it all day and forget hiking, shopping, skiing, etc! The staff is great. The gondolas are super safe and offer the best views of both Telluride and Mountain Village. Try to ride the commemorative red 20 or white 25 for fun!

Super cool ski village. Take free gondola there from Historic Telluride. Overall, Telluride is in my top 3 ski towns out of 15 I have visited. Very cool vibe.

Amazing views. A great adventure. Definitely worth the visit. Was bitterly cold when we were there, but did not deter us from riding. Beautiful sites.

Free, fun and special dog-friendly gondolas. Travel from town to town with breathtaking views. Love it. Do it. No excuse.

We chose Telluride for ski trip because a couple of people in our group did not ski. The gondola went from town to Mountain Village. So they got a feel of the ski resort without having to ski. The gondola ran constantly morning to night and the operators were very helpful and friendly.

My family of 5 stayed at the Fairmont Telluride, which is in Heritage Plaza so the Gondola was only a short walk. We rode the FREE Gondola everyday to go to Telluride for activities and restaurants. On our first day, we arrived after 8pm and the hotel told us there was a hot air balloon festival in Telluride so we should take the Gondola. We didn't know the Gondola has an optional stop at the top of the mountain prior to going down to Telluride. The worker motioned us to come out and so we did, but when we asked if this was Telluride, he said Oh go back inside. LOL. Lesson leared. You do not have to get out at the top if you're going all the way to Telluride or back to Heritage Plaza. The rest of the week, we stayed in and the workers would say Have a Good Day! There are Info booths with helpful workers advising of everything at both ends. We saw Elk, Porcupines and running creeks from the snow melt. At night it's pitch black. Sometimes the Gondola would stop, but they would get it running again. And if you're lucky, you get to ride the Red Gondola #20.

Very nice way to get to the top of he mountain to both ski and do some more commercial style stuff! The gondola runs late in this town so you can enjoy without having to make sure you're off the mountain by 5:30 like many other places.

We loved the Gondola ride, started down in Telluride and went up to Mountain Village. Since it was off season, we were able to ride for free, round trip takes about half an hour. My friend who is deathly afraid of height even thought the trip was great. A must do, the scenery if awesome!

This FREE gondola is a great connection between the Telluride Ski Village and the Town of Telluride. The view is fantastic in both directions. It is also unique that first you go up to the mountain top then down to your destination. It also runs from early morning to midnight. A must do!!!

Riding the gondola at least while in Telluride is a must. Day or night, the views are beautiful. The surrounding mountains during the day are stunning, and at night, the twinkling lights of the village are beautiful.
There is no charge, just hop on and off you go.

Historic Telluride has kept most development out, preserving the old houses and buildings. Mountain Village is the new area, hotels, condominiums, main ski area. Connecting the two is the Village Gondola, a free gondola ride offering spectacular views year round. Wonderful way to see the area from a comfortable enclosed gondola.

Great gondola for easy access to Telluride and Mountain Village. Very well kept and clean. Great views!

We loved getting on the gondola! They disinfected it before and after every rider. It provides stunning views of the area and it's free!!! We love Mountain Village!!!!

I just love the TMV Gondola. What great access to both the mtn village and the town.
And, you meet people and have opportunities to talk.
And it’s a historically relevant means of moving ore and people in the valley.
Great views into town and into the mtn village, across the mesas and all the way to the la sals.
Fabulous!

We rode the Gondola several times during our 4 day visit & loved it. The view is beautiful and you get to see Telluride from a different perspective. The first time we rode, we got off at the first stop because one of the staff opened the door and we thought we should get off. There is a restaurant at this stop, but mostly it's for bike riding and I guess skiing in the winter. Mountain Village is the 2nd stop and definitely worth checking out. There are a lot of shops and places to eat.

The gondola was very convenient to take down into the village instead of driving down to find parking. Easy and beautiful views!

So nice to have free transportation through the mountain resort between the village and town of Telluride!

This was such a pleasurable part of our visit! Anything free in such a pricey town is really appreciated, and on a rainy day it was perfect for seeing the wonderful views while staying dry. There are several places you can get off and look around, but there wasn't a lot to see on the first few stops. We could have boarded a different gondola at the second stop and continued on into Telluride Mountain Village, but with time constraints we just got back on and went back to Telluride.

Best town transportation in a ski town. Free of 3 legs of the gondola from the mountain down into the city of Telluride. Nice workers help you on and off and direct you to the next leg loading location. Fantastic!

Stupendous! Free and easy. An incredible way to get around Telluride and Mountain Village until 2:00am. The only free gondola in North America. Thank you Mountain Village and Telluride. The scenery is stunning, the people friendly and amazing, laid back atmosphere, excellent restaurants and the best skiing we have ever experienced. Short lift lines too.

We were very impressed with the gondola system in Telluride. We hesitated staying in the mountain village but so glad we did. Our motorcycle was parked during our entire stay. It was so easy to walk from our lodging on the mountain to the gondola which took us directly to town. The views are amazing!

I got into town on the last day the Gondola was open for business. It was a cool ride with cool views, definitely something unique. The hikes and other natural attractions the area has to offer override the necessity of this one.

We went on the gondola several times over the weekend to get from our hotel into town. Each time we saw something new. 2 Fox, 2 Grouse, 1 Deer, 1 Porcupine, then 1 herd of Elk for our car. Not to mention great sunsets, snow capped mountain ranges. It was beautiful.

Took the FREE gondola from Telluride to Mountain Village. Short 6 min ride to the top of the mountain. Amazing views! Got off at the top and hiked down the Ridge trail. Took about and hour or so. Downhill the whole way. Ends at the Mountain Village gondola station. Took it back to Telluride. Such a great way to see the sites! Highly recommend it, and it’s FREE!

Always a pleasure to take the gondola to Mountain village and back when staying in Telluride. Sit with your back to the mountain for the best view.

The Telluride Gondola is first class, nearly completely automated and felt quite secure. Views facing up or down are captivating.
We had a comprehensive view of the numerous choices of accommodation in the Mountain Village while in the Gondola.
A great experience!

Excellent form of transportation to and from Mountain Village and Telluride. We used the Gondola many times during our stay. Pet Friendly and a great way to transport our bikes.

Great, free gondola with fantastic views. It's also a great jumping off spot should you want a ride uphill and walk downhill. They are doing a great job with social distancing and cleaning.

Awesome way to get to the top of the mountain or visit Mountain Village. Runs from 6Am to midnight - Free and Dog friendly too!

We took the Telluride gondola all the way up and back just as a fun trip. There is a grocery store up top that seemed well stocked and very reasonable on prices considering it is in one of the most expensive destinations in the country.

And FREE. Clean. Friendly service. Takes you from Telluride town up to ski resort and Mountain Vikkage.

There are actually two gondola runs: a short one from the Mountain Village up to the Market / Town Hall, and a much much longer one that goes from the Mountain Village to the town of Telluride. They are clean, comfortable and free... reduces car exhaust pollution, there's no waiting for buses or shuttles, and it's a great ride with beautiful views.
One minor warning: at night, on the long run from Telluride to the Mountain Village it can get really cold inside the cabin (as you'd expect from a glass box hanging in the air). They have blankets available at the gondola station: grab some and use them! And dress warmly anyway. Telluride is such a small town you'll walk everywhere other than the gondola.

On vacation in Telluride with my husband,24 year old daughter and her boyfriend. It was the first time for all of us to ride the gondola and we loved it! We spent five days in Telluride and we rode the gondola at least twice a day.
I’m claustrophobic and wasn’t sure how I would handle it, but as I said we all loved it including myself. I was actually sad when we rode it for the last time before heading out of town.
It’s easy to get on and off even for those with skis or boards. It’s great for children and adults alike. The views are breathtaking, so be sure to have your camera handy. There are four places to get on and off, at the bottom of the mountain in the town of Telluride, halfway up the mountain where you can get off and there is a restaurant (though closed due to COVID), the top of the mountain and the parking area just past the top of the mountain.
Don’t pass the gondola up, even if your not skiing or boarding!

Breathtaking views! Absolutely stunning views of the mountains & the village & telluride! So amazing that it is a free service! They were clean & the waiting areas have heaters to help keep you warm!

None of us on our trip expected to have such luxurious rides on the gondolas. Oh my goodness. And they were free. Up and down the Mountains. Views so precious a photo hardly captured it. Totally impressive. Totally courteous all those who assisted in the process.

We visited on december 2020 almost new year. The view of the mountains with snow was spectacular. The equipment is in excellent condition and despite the height and long distance it makes you feel safe. The best part, is free ride and even if you are not planning to ski, is a great tour.

This gondola was very convenient for getting from Telluride to Mountain Village. No need to drive up and down the mountain. It’s free to use.
It could have used a heater. It was snowing already and it takes several minutes to travel.
It had special hardware for hauling skis and bikes/ snowboards on the outside of the gondola. Great view of the city at night. You can request special assistance boarding the gondola. I think they even have special cars for hauling your dogs! Did I mention it’s free to use?

Truly one of the most surprising things of our summer trip through Colorado. While other winter resorts are making a buck off their ski lifts, Telluride looks at its gondola as an extension of its transit service. Views are remarkable and staff is great!

A must for any visitor. It is free and the views are worth the trip. Did i say it was free? i would recommend parking at the village and taking the gondola into town. Hard to find good parking in Telluride

This is a nice short ride and is dog friendly and free. We took this with 7 people and it was great. From mountain village to telluride.

We really enjoyed our ride. The view is amazing. The ride was free. You can’t beat that!!! We also enjoyed the market. Neat stuff in there

Free ride at the way to the market about 20 min
Best to ride early the line gets longer in the aft
Great views of Telluride
One needs about 1.5 hours at the top without lunch so make sure you feed the meter max is 3 hours

The Gondola is a good way to move from one area to the next, without walking in the hot sun. Especially nice views on the ride down to Telluride. Be sure to take your camera along.

We took the gondola down to Mountain Village to eat at the View. The crew running these are always so nice and helpful.

Best way to get from Mountain Village to Telluride. Very clean and safe. You get great views going both ways. It's constantly moving so be prepared getting off an on.

We knew nothing of the gondola prior to visiting the Telluride Visitor Center. The attendant at the Center told us about it and that it was free. We actually didn't know much of Telluride Mountain Village either. We walked to the Gondola Station where there was a short line. At the station, each gondola car travels at a snail’s pace so people (kids, dogs, old people etc.) can easily get on and off. Once free of the station, the gondola picks up speed. The cables are quite high and there’s a BIG drop down to terra firma. The views are wonderful in every direction. What a neat way to travel. Great ride.

The gondolas are amazing! Please don’t miss out on a fabulous one of a kind view of the area! They are easy to board and easy to unload. The staff assisting were also very nice.

This is an excursion in and of itself. Our children loved it. What a nice extra surprise - a wonderful experience.

We always enjoy riding the Gondola up and over the Mountain to Mountain Village. The six of us were able to ride in one of the cars going up and coming back down. Staff was always available to handle access in an orderly manner and to stop movement when a person with limited mobility needed some time to access or leave a car. The fact it is free and has a convenient operating schedule make this a real asset to the area.

We used the gondola a few times a day while we were in Telluride for a week and it never got boring. Such an awesome way to enjoy the views!

Terrific and convenient while helping the environment and cuts down on traffic. Free gondola to and from Telluride proper to the Mountain Village. Amazing views especially at sunset.

The gondola is a fantastic and free way to get from Mountain Village to Telluride. The trips are fast and the views are breathtaking.

The gondola offered fabulous views of the historic mining town of Telluride and stunning canyon with waterfalls beyond the village. The gondola will take you to Mountain Village on the other side of the mountain if you want to experience a ski resort vibe on your trip.

This was a lovely experience. The ride was so beautiful and I appreciate all the effort made by the staff to keep everything sanitized and distanced. The lines got longer as the day went by but we enjoyed visiting from a few feet away with others in line as well.

Very efficient service!
Quickly transfers you from the mountain village to downtown Telluride, to access all the restaurants and shopping.
One of the truely unique aspects of skiing in Telluride.

This may be the best free transportation in the world! Excellent service from Mountain Village to Telluride. And the views! Outstanding!

We traveled back and forth from Mountain Village to Telluride using the free cable car.
The views are beautiful and the ride a lot of fun.

Wonderful, free transportation from the mountain village to downtown and back. Fast, quiet and great scenery. Each gondola comfortably seats 6.

What a fun, free experience in Telluride. Plus you get to see both sides of the mountain with Telluride Village on one side and Mountain Village on another. They practiced safe social distancing, which did make the wait slightly longer, but nothing terrible. All in all a pleasant experience. Plus, mid-way up you get to see the Gondogola Portrait!

Such a very quiet and efficient way to get around. Really a super service to the community and enhancement to tourism.

This is a must do activity when in telluride. I recommend parking at mountain valley and taking the Gondola down. Great experience. I don’t like heights but this didn’t bother me at all. The people being were excellent.

I always thought this was a simple Gondola that went from downtown Telluride up the mountain and that's it. But this Condola actually goes up the mountain and then down the other side. On the other side it opens up into a network of gondolas. Pretty cool and greater than I imagined it would be. This views and the scenery from the gondolas are awesome and not to be missed. This is a must do Telluride thing

MY FAVORITE THING! 1st off its FREE. You cant beat that! 2nd the views were outstanding!!
We don't ski. So obviously if you ski you will ride it. But if you don't you MUST go up and see Wilson Peak and the beautiful views!

Wow. World-class views and the ride is free! And what a surprise to arrive in Mountain Village. A charming village with a European feel just a short ride from the rustic town of Telluride. A real hidden gem!

Breathtaking convenience are perfect words for this experience. Not only does the Gondola help you meet your transportation needs it also provides you with breathtaking views of the mountains.

First time in Telluride and this was recommended as a great way to enjoy the scenery on the way up and at the top. Absolutely worth the time riding up and down as well as lingering at the top to enjoy the panorama. We did this in September, so before ski season.

En route to Telluride we sat stopped on the roadway into town for 30 minutes due to construction. After that painful delay finding a place to park our vehicle was our next challenge. Finally located a parking garage after several “natives” told us there aren’t any garages in Telluride.
The gondola to Mountain Village was pleasant.
There was a farmer’s market event happening….displays of grossly overpriced items. One small bag of dried fruit $50….please!
We all looked at each other and questioned why we were wasting our time here.
We decided to save the day and promptly left.
Although the surrounding mountains are spectacular I find the town, in my book, not user friendly.
As luck would have it, trying to leave, another delay.

The Mountain Village Gondola is a great experience, and it’s free. If you’re walking around in Telluride enjoying the town, it’s worth it to jump on the Gondola and take the ride to Mountain Village. It’s free, it’s comfortable because it’s covered, and it offers spectacular views of Telluride and the surrounding valley. My wife and I rode it this past June, and on a clear day, the views are tremendous.

What a great way to get into town! It was a pleasant surprise to find that it was free during the Brews and Blues Festival! A real plus!

We arrived in the area last night and took the two gondolas from Mountain Village down to Telluride for dinner and back to our hotel. We both LOVED the experience and look forward to repeating it today! They are very easy to enter and exit, and the views are exquisite. To further add to the enjoyment, the ride is nearly silent and the cabs are very clean including the windows!

Had to do this while in Telluride to take in the views! So enjoyable and such great views of the entire area! And it really is free! Pretty roomy gondola, safe, easy to ride. Had to find it at the back of town off the main street but the entire Telluride town has something around every corner! Loved it! Only wish the mountains had had snow on them!

It's free and no waiting. The views with all the fall colors were amazing. The people worked there were very friendly and helpful.

Telluride is a quaint, small mountain town. We went in the summertime and did make sure to avoid any large festivals. Parking in town can be difficult but not impossible. The Gondola to Mountain Village was awesome. The views were spectacular and at the first stop there is an overlook of the town. The fact that it's free makes it easy to come and go as you please at each stop. Looking down upon Mountain Village as you arrive that destination is pretty cool also. Definitely take a ride when you're visiting Telluride!

It’s hard to find the words to describe how special Telluride is. We spent 6 nights in Mountain Village in August and literally had the best time. The views are literally jaw-dropping. Although we then spent a great few days in Breckenridge afterwards, I fear Telluride has spoiled us!

Got on the gondola in mountain village, free parking and saved us the drive down to Telluride. Amazing that this is free. When the gondola takes off from the landing's it is very quick (exciting or scary) just so your not surprised.

This was an incredible experience. The Gondola is free and runs all day.
It’s a great way to get around and see the gorgeous sights.

The gondola makes Telluride a world class and European desired ski resort in the US of A. Be careful, the odd numbers are for the dogs so, avoid if allergic. Have your own men hold doors open, as the gondola is busy and the operator has to run back and front. Its good clean fun and free to ride, with unbelievable views. Remember if you have choldren and baby carriages you need men (or a man) with you.

We came to Telluride with another couple in July and enjoyed the way you can travel all over just riding this all around. From going to breakfast in town and to town for dinner and also shopping.

The most beautiful place I have ever visited. The aspen trees were turning and the scenery was majestic. It is expensive but worth every penny.

Don't be scared these are the best gondolas int he biz! load up for a scenic ride and blankets are even provided if you get a little to chilly.

It is free to ride the gondola. You can even bring your bike.
What is going to cost you is riding their trails.... Which are located on public land. I get it I rode the lift... But there is no clear uphill policy to ride up on your own. Even though their website claims there is both a winter and summer uphill policy.
Nothing on the website is completely transparent that you have to pay to ride. I came here to check out the resort in the summer and feel like it is a wasted visit.
Telluride is stunning. And so is how it is managed.

Don’t miss this! The gondola gives you an incredible view of Telluride. I’m not a big fan of heights, but I felt perfectly safe and enjoyed every minute.

Fantastic way to get around town. Family favorite. Smooth ride with so amazing views. Makes this a very unique place.

I’d ride even if it wasn’t FREE! What a wonderful relaxing ride up to Mountain Village. The views are great and mountain village is very cute. Lots of shops snd restaurants to check out.

Fast and efficient we love this gondola! We could just write it all day long! And it’s free!! Yes I SAID FREE .. And it doesn’t close til 12 o’clock!!!!!

The gondola was a wonderful addition to our trip. We loved the views and actually were able to coordinate with our skiers to watch and video them from above as they made there way down!

A must do! Views are spectacular and our furbaby was able to ride along!! Make sure to jump off and explore the areas at the stops.

This is a great FREE ride. If you are lucky to ride with pups, it is even more fun. Beautiful views of town...a must during day and at night!

A wonderful experience if you just wish to ride and stare out the windows. We parked in Mountain Village at the free garage by the first leg of the Gondola. Our VRBO was close and convenient to this mode of getting into Telluride. That means we rode a short 5 minutes, got off, walked around the corner, got on the main line, did not get off at the top but stayed seated until the bottom. You do have to walk uphill to get to main street(Colorado Ave). It was August and while there were people coming and going we had no waiting lines. It is open very late and feels very safe.

By a large margin this the best gondola ride I have ever had. Views were spectacular and the staff were very helpful in ensuring folk got safely on and off. And it was free!

Great way to get between towns and not get in your car. I would ride the gondola all day long before I got in my car.

Great transportation fro Mountain Village to Telluride. Comfy and scenic. Loved riding the gondola. The staff was so nice, all the time.

Whether this is the gondola that links the Main Village to the Market, or the public transport gondola that links the town of Telluride to the Mountain Village, you are in for a treat.

You can self tour the town from the books provided by the visitor center. Many of the buildings in the town have been preserved and are in use. Western history is on every street including the bank for Billy the Kids first robbery. Its one way in and one way out but the viewing is spectacular.

We loved our ride on the gondola on Friday night. The views are incredible. I’ve ridden many gondolas when skiing but not many in summer. It’s fun to sit and relax and take in the wonderful Mountain Views- we’ll be back soon,

We stayed in a mountain village townhouse we found on Vrbo that was within walking distance of the gondola. It was one form of transportation to get to Telluride. The people that work the gondola are absolutely delightful. It's clean, perfectly timed for on an offs (my mother is 90 and could do it) and the view are out of this world. We were there in the Summer. I would love to see it in the Fall and Winter. It's a must do if you are in the area.

The big gentleman with the beard was only loading 1-2 people per car, there was a line of about 15 people waiting. I didn’t want to be late for work and when I FINALLY got to the front of the line he said that I was in the doubles line and had to go walk all the way to the back and start all over. I decided to leave and drive to work because I didn’t want to wait again. Horrible look on this town, just because you’re having a bad morning doesn’t mean you should ruin others.

I can't believe this gondola is free. We've taken gondolas at almost all the ski resorts in the summertime throughout the American West and it's hard to beat the views at the top of the mountains here! It's certainly the one thing that everyone visiting Telluride in the summer has to do!

Just absolutely fabulous and completely free. Park in the Mountain Village car park at the top for free then ride the gondola. Superb views and to top it all there are lots of lovely places to eat on the Main Street. Wonderful.

This free gondola will take you up and above Telluride, where the deer were playing. You can take this gondola all the way over to the Mountain Village and then back to Telluride. The grocery store in the Mountain Village is worth the ride all the way over. Stop there for lunch and pastries.

The view was beautiful. We had a private gondola going to Mountain Village so we could move around to see the view. The operator slowed the gondola down for my wife to get on (Very helpful). We shared the ride back to Telluride so were actually riding backwards (bummer). There is more time to get on at the Mountain Village station then at the Telluride station.
The only downside is that the doors do not open very wide.

A great 4 letter word when talking gondola. The scenery's terrific, and it's gondogala friendly! I can't imagine visitng Telluride without taking a ride.

Great experience. Amazing views. 100% free. It would be silly not to do this… There were options to get off at different points.

Typically, I'll give the Gondola an A+ for any number of reasons, but today was different, so I hope the management is paying attention.
We have been property owners in Mountain Village for some 25 years, and regularly use the Gondola, both with and without our dog. Every other car is designated a dog-allowed car. This is because some folks don't want to ride with strangers who have a dog, and that's fine, we understand.
In this covid world, however, the Gondola doesn't permit any mixed groups - strangers riding with strangers - for social distancing reasons. The four of us (no one else was even behind us in line) in our family and our small bulldog got on the next car, only to be chased down by an employee with too many whiskers and too big of an "I'm-in-control-here" attitude, telling us we'd have to get off because we were not in a dog designated car. Oh the horror!
So this genius stops the whole darn system, makes us get off (two of us are in our 70s) and wait for the next car that was a for-real designated dog car. Keep in mind, they currently wipe down everything all day long because of covid (the car interiors smell of bleach), don't permit strangers to ride together, make you wear a mask for the whole trip inside the car, all that, but its now a big enough deal to stop the whole system because of a dog? Puhleeeze.
Sorry, that's just unnecessary overreach. Use a little discretion and common sense in your staff training.

The views, the efficiency, the free-ride too. Wow The village makes this amenity so available there is no need to have a car. It runs at least 18 hours daily and is quiet and very efficient. Fun too.

This was our first trip to Telluride. Everyone suggested taking a ride on the gondola. So glad we did! The views are spectacular!!! It was so cool getting a Birdseye view of mountain village where there is more shops, restaurants, and live music. The gondola is a must if you are visiting Telluride. It’s FREE! :)

This gondola is FREE! You can take it to the mid-point of the mountain, get off to ski or go to Allreds Restaurant right there in the gondola building, or travel to the other half of Telluride. It goes over the mountain from Telluride town to the Mountain Village. Well maintained, Nice staff.

The views are beautiful and the ride is quiet and smooth. Ride at night and get off at the Allreds stop to do some fantastic stargazing. Bring your camera!

Easy to get on/off. A comfy, fast ride. watch the time though, the furthest gondola closes first and may cause you to reroute to get back to town.

Best views in Colorado without needing a Jeep. Best of all it’s free. There’s two gondolas that connect Telluride to Mountain Village. Highly recommend the parking in Mountain Village and riding down to Telluride.

We used the Gondola a lot! Hardly ever any line. They are staffed to ensure you don’t have any issues. Excellent and a great feature to connect the area!

What a gorgeous way to see the colors of October in Colorado! The Gondola is free transportation courtesy of the City and so many people utilize it, hikers, bikers and tourist. The view is spectacular. Don't miss it!!

This is the chief method people use to get from point A to point B in Mountain Village and over to Telluride. When the lift is running, it can be good. But in my experience, the gondola suffers from way too many breakdowns & slow downs, poorly trained staff and as I've been told by some of the employees, exceptionally bad management.
Is prefer to drive to get to where I need, but sometimes, this is just an easier option. I just wish the management would get a clue & learn how to do their job.

The Gondola is brilliant. Mass transit from Mountain Village to the town of Telluride. It’s consistent moving folks . More cities should take note

If you put your hiking shoes on you can coast down the Telluride trail for almost three miles with spectacular views and magnificent tree specimen. Takes about 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your picture taking time.

What a great ride and view
The trip to Telluride and back is 30 minutes and it’s worth the ride just for the view

Hiking trails and mountain biking abound - beautiful scenery and pleasant folks to offer trail info at the top. Took the ridge trail back down and it was a fun, easy hike. Fun way to get great views and some exercise but without having to climb to the top

When visiting Mountain Village/Telluride, it's a must to use the gondola to get between Mountain Village and the city of Telluride, as well as to hiking locations, and the shopping center in Mtn Village. It's quick, convenient, and also a fun, scenic ride, a great place to take pictures.

Super fun way to stay, park your car, and explore the mountain and town. There are times of the year when this isn’t running so be sure to confirm before booking.

This is the best possible way to see Telluride. The views were breathtaking. Every other gondola was pet friendly!

the gondola ride from Mountain village to Telluride is the best way to travel, if you don't want to drive there. it is easy on and off and FREE. it was a short trip, actually shorter than if we had driven. so i would recommend this to anyone. and the views are great.

Loved that it was not necessary to rent a car to travel around Telluride. I stayed in the Mountain Village and would "commute" to Telluride to eat and shop. It's free and easy to use. And the views are beautiful. You might travel around sunset for spectacular light.

The ride is beautiful! Make sure to ride various times of you the day so you don’t miss any amazing views. Relaxing! Easy on and off. And FREE!

A must do activity whilst in Telluride. One would normally expect to pay around $25 for a return gondola ride up the mountain but in Telluride its free!
If you take the full journey to Mountain Village it's a 12 min ride but you can also get off and back on again above Telluride where there are excellent views, hiking trails and bike trails.
Purpose built but attractive Mountain Village provides the best access to the extensive skiing in the area. It's quiet in the summer but nice for a short visit with plenty of eateries.

The free Gondola between Mountain Village and Telluride is probably one of our favorite things to do. The views from the Gondola are amazing. Especially riding the to the San Sophia station and watching the sunset. Also so convenient when staying in Mountain Village. We didn't need a car all weekend.

Even if you ride it up and come right back down, it's definitely worth taking a ride on this. Great views and it's so quiet up there. Free is good.....

Spectacular views of the mountains. Very friendly staff and did I write that the ride is FREE? It was the best part of summer in Telluride.

This is a free service provided by Telluride and Mountain Village. The Gondola is fast and clean with a helpful staff who sanitized the cars after each use.

This gondola is so convenient and east. There are workers at every stop to help you if needed. There are blankets outside if you get cold or there is melted snow in the seats. Very well run.

Visited during the last week of September. The Gondolas offer the best views of the peaks, town and fall colors. The system was efficient and felt safe at all times. Beautiful place to visit in the fall.

They don't charge for this! It's unreal that they don't charge to park nor ride the Gondola. This is a must-do if you are close to town.

Beautiful Views!! The mountains are surrounding you on your ride up and on your ride down. Great family photos!! Takes you directly to the ski resort and another town to check out - the village.

We all loved riding the Gondola from Mountain Village to Telluride. There was beautiful scenery and it was clean.

Riding the gondola from the town of Telluride to Mountain Village was very fun. It was free, fast and dog friendly. The views were amazing. Great addition to our trip to Telluride.

How can you beat a free gondola. Most summer resorts charge $50 bucks! Pick it up right in town. Open until 11 and sometimes midnight or 2am! Crazy! Every staff number was super nice. I was very impressed with the cleaning during each guest ride with the COVID. Although the village shops and restaurants are expensive, that is a given, it was such a nice FREE activity!

As this is the only complimentary of this kind in United States and I guess as well all over the world, you will love those views! Every single trip from Mountain Village to Telluride was spectacular! Amazing gondola girl Laura is always willing to help and chat with you!

What a nice contrast to the priciness of all things Mt. Village. It's quiet and tranquil. It's exciting. The Scenery is spectacular. It's ez to use. It operates until midnight, and best of all, it's free! Do yourselves a favor and hop on!

Whether you are shopping, hiking, bar hopping, or just hanging, the gondola was worth the ride. The views were spectacular as the aspen were changing during the early part of our trip in the town.

The gondala is a convenient (and free) mode of transportation between Mountain Village and Telluride. Breathtaking views. Pet-friendly.

Telluride is beautiful, and just the ride there is worth the trip. Shopping was not as good as hoped for (Ouray, Durango, even Silverton is better). Brown Dog Pizza was great but noisy. “Baked in Telluride” and the free Gondola rides are “must do’s” while visiting Telluride.

The gindola ride was very nice, providing a breathtakingly beautiful view of the mountains and the villages below once you reached the top. Plenty room inside and relatively clean...ENJOY!
Tip: If you are going to dine at Alreds when you reach the top, you will enjoy simply the best cuisine imaginable, but bring a big bankroll...worht every penny of our $600 meal for 4 adults/3 children!

Great Town!! We drove up to Telluride from Ridgway to experience the fun and were not disappointed! Yes, it's a touristy stop. Yes, there are lots of touristy shops and restaurants. But, it's also a fun place to explore! The free gondola ride up and over the summit was a nice touch and the gondolas were not old or hot or stinky and gave us a great view of the entire area and the airport! There are lots of summer flowers everywhere and the town was busy with people getting ready for a bluegrass festival coming up.
We drove up to Bridal Veil Falls and were surprised that the falls lie near private property owned by the Idarado Mining Company. Wish we had taken hiking shoes to try to walk up! Next time!

What a GREAT way to get between Telluride and Mountain Village! And it's FREE!!!!
The Gondola's are clean, the people running them are so helpful and the views are SPECTACULAR!
This is, without a doubt, the best way to get around the area. You can easily get between restaurants, hotels, and shops.
They also allow you to transport bikes, skis and even dogs.

The views while riding the Gondola are fantastic!. The staff was pleasant while helping us on and off the Gondola. A must do!

We really loved the gondola! Besides it being free, there was still snow when we went the first week of June. The kids had a blast throwing snowballs

The gondola is great- never a long line and a wonderful way to catch some amazing views while heading up the mountain. It's also really nice to be able to take it down to town at the end of the day when the legs are tired.

Its a free service that runs from Telluride to Mountain Villiage and onto a huge car park..and then back again. op on & off as you please. The views were incredible.

This is a must if you’re in Telluride. The fall colors were spectacular! I wish more ski areas offered free transportation like this!

Let me start by saying I have always loved Telluride's gondola transport system. The views, the thrill, the price (free).
However, our recent visit was frustrating. We had 8 in our human party to include 4 kids, as well as my 8# Yorkie dog that my husband was carrying. We were told, "8 to a car" as we all jumped on the moving car. Then in a panic the employee made my dog and husband get off quickly yelling, "8 heartbeats!" We were so confused. We didn't know what he meant. My dog literally takes up no room and sure doesn't put us over the max weight capacity. The only prohibitive factor is his heart, beating?
Then when we changed cars, we asked the person, "8, right?", thinking that it was just perhaps 1 idiot's misinterpretation of a rule. That person said, "Yes". So 6 of us, including my husband holding the dog, jumped quickly on. That employee held out his arm to stop my 2 children from getting on. I assume due to the dog being the 9th. So my children were left behind to ride alone (Luckily 2 of our party jumped out to be with them, in the nick of time, before the door closed.)
What in the world? Sometimes common sense is outweighed by ridiculous legalities. Is it really important that children are left because an 8# lap dog is the 9th hearbeat?
Beware, if you are pregnant or have a pet in your pocket, you may exceed the max number of heartbeats that can ride.

We have travelled to many ski areas and other destinations . This is the only Gondola that is totally free and joins two beautiful towns.

6 minutes up, can Get off and hike about or back down to Telluride, can go on to the village and back. Smooth operation. Each car is sprayed coming back into Telluride. Masks are required.

It's a beautiful ride and it's free. Sunsets were absolutely gorgeous! We only used it in the early evening when there was no line, but the lines during the day got pretty long. My only complaint is that we saw a TON of riders disregarding the resort's request to wear masks during the entire ride. There is some ventilation in the gondola, but it was really disheartening to see so many people with little regard for their safety and the safety of others. We saw enforcement at the loading and unloading points, but there's probably not much you can do about enforcement during the ride.

It is a wonderful option to go back and forth from Telluride to the Mountain Village, and has great scenery.

How can you beat this. A free service that takes you from telluride to the mountain Village. Nice well kept gondola carriages and stations

It was so nice to go up with the gondola from Telluride on to Mountain Village. And all free! (at least during the Telluride Bluegrass fest) Awesome views over this beautiful area. Certainly do this if you are in the area.

Highly recommend it! Awesome gondola ride up and so many amazing views in every direction. At the top, you can walk around and see the view above the town.

So much fun for family, friends, or just a couple to go on and so many different things to do either direction you come from

I hate to admit this, but I would almost schedule my trip to Telluride based on whether or not the gondola is up and running. This is by far the best way to get to/from Telluride and Mountain Village. It is also the best way to see Telluride and the surrounding mountains. Best part is it's FREE!!! They closed on 10/20; make sure you check online their operating schedule. Wonderful experience!

Free Gondola rides is fantastic for tourists whether skiers or summer hikers. Parking garage at Mountain village or shuttle to Gondola makes this a convenient and safe way to travel. Skiers can also ski the Telluride side of the mountain and take the gondola back.

Visit the free Gondola. It was an amazing experience and run in a quick and efficient manner. What a fantastic way to travel over the mountain to enhance your visit.

We enjoyed this ride extremely well. It’s a quiet ride and it’s free!! The Mountain Village is so cool to walk around. We took the ride when the Aspens we’re beautiful which was an added blessing. There is parking along the street close to the ride. Hope this helps.

Great views during the day, Star lite skies at night. Great way to travel between town and Mountain Village.

We loved this. Did it during day & went up to village to shop & hang out at bars. Went back at night for dinner. So nice - great views both times!!!

Telluride has a free gondola over to mountain village. It runs 7am to midnight. The cars are clean, quick and the views are awesome. Plus it is somehow free.
Want to have dinner in Mountain Village or stay there but hang in Telluride? Take the gondola every day with no issue.

A must do when in the area ... nice relaxing ride, especially beautiful at night and at sunset. Travels pretty quick at 11 mph. You can take your bike for free as well.

Gondolas always so clean and staff so friendly and helpful.
THANK YOU Telluride & Mtn Village for offering such convenient modes of travel.

The FREE gondola system that links Mountain Village to the town of Telluride is fantastic. The views are fantastic and there is really no need for a car due to the gondola system.

FREE gondola from Mountain Village to Telluride and back. Great views, 13 minute ride, gets you to and from with minimal effort. Love this!

Beautiful ride up to high elevations above Telluride. You can take gondola to the mountain village with shops and restaurants, a busy place. Amazing views and hikes.

Very nice experience. Wonderful view. Totally free, efficient, clean, and great way to get from point to point from Telluride to Mountain City locations.

This is an amazing thing! I dont understand how its a free service but i'm very grateful it is! Yes its busy when ski lessons/new year eve fireworks end and EVERYONE wants to get on it, but they move it fast, efficiently and the people working there are always polite despite being freezing cold (we have only ever been in winter time) They even have dog friendly goddogolas too :-

The staff kept the transportation moving and were extremely friendly. Seems to be common theme for the area. Everyone seems to be friendly. Great view looking into telluride

I have stayed in Telluride for many years. Every year the locals seem to be more and more hostile toward visitors. I was trying to get on the Gondola today as a single. There was a line but it was relatively short both for the and singles (maybe 2 singles and 6 groups). The attendant kept asking the groups if they mind if other people ride with them. I did not and do not ever expect to ride alone as this is an efficient taxi system for the town. The attendant was unfriendly (shocking) and mumbling and I thought he said that me and another single person should get on with the next group of four. That group of four misheard and jumped on a car that was already fairly occupied. Great - no big deal. Confused I asked if I should get on the already occupied car and went to try to get on only to find it was full - 8 people some of kids. whom were kids. Also time was running out to get on. I said I am not going to do that one but started to say I would do the next one with a group when I was cut off, told to get on that one, and that this is the way it was going to be all weekend mumble mumble mumble blah blah blah...RUDE AND DISCRIMINATORY BECAUSE I WAS A SINGLE. I simply did not want to enter a car that I didn't even know he was assigning me to at the last minute and that HE failed to realize was already full, because apparently speaking clearly and concisely and counting accurately is too much work. Humiliating and unnecessary rudeness by design and intentional, because he assumed I was a tourist. If the locals in this town do not want part time visitors, stop throwing festivals, make the skiing locals only, cut only local's hair, serve only locals in restaurants, and see what happens to this place. Everyone deserves respect, LOCALS AND VISITORS AT ALL TIMES PERIOD. Act like a human. By the way most of the "locals" are ski bums who moved here somewhat recently and think that just because they moved here from somewhere else that they are entitled to be handed a home below market value.

Best asset ever! Free rides and runs all day!!! No lines and no reason to ever rent a car here!!! Can’t wait to come back.

Highly recommend riding the free gondola from Telluride up to Mountain Village, the view is incredible.

The Free Gondola is a FANTASTIC way to travel. We rented a car so we could go to Silverton, Ouray, and other cities. 80% of the time we took the gondola. You can get a ride from Montrose to Telluride and ride the gondola the rest of the time

The only time it's a bad ride is when you have people on the phone and they are loud and don't care about being polite and courteous. I have meet many interesting people on the gondola but it is public and not all people are nice. The operator are typically nice and professional but that again depends on the people. Late night seems to be when operators have a don't care attitude but for the most part it all good. You will always remember your ride on the gondola, especially on a full moon night by yourself.

My husband and I stayed in Telluride and rode the gondola over to Mountain Village for dinner. It was daylight on trip over and dark on trip back. Both views were amazing!

This was our first experience going to Telluride and were worried we were so far from the city until we saw the free Gondola right by our hotel! It stayed running until midnight and was a great way to get back and forth during our stay in Telluride.

Excellent trip - fantastic ski instructors . The snow could not have been better and the roads were cleared in no time

This is basically the main thing we wanted to do in Telluride and it's closed for a month. How disappointing! Keep it open for at least a day or two each week or for a few hours each day or something.

The Gondola in Telluride is great. Simple, convenient, quiet, and relaxing transportation from Mountain Village area to downtown. So much better than having to ride a bus or call for an Uber to get around. The Gondola allows you to get around Telluride without a car or dealing with any ground transportation.
What a nice ride up the gondola and the beautiful scenery from up there. I took tons of pictures. Nice town with nice eating places and cute little stores.
