Tennessee Theatre: a music venue

By Sandra H |

I had the opportunity to see Robert Earl Keen's Merry Christmas from the Family Tour at this theatre. There's not a bad seat and the acoustics are incredible.

Neat old theater!

By cgmizer |

For the first time went to the Tennessee Theater. Beautiful exquisite building. Looking forward to going back.

LOVED the venue for Kinky Boots

By Jennifer T |

Wow! What an array of emotions. The venue is stunning and beautiful. If you like alcohol they had it. Would have liked to see some "winter beverages" offered. Location was great - several local restaurants and a beautiful display of Christmas lights just across the street. As a larger gal I thought the seats were surprisingly comfortable with plenty of leg room. We had no issues with paid parking and the play was FANTASTIC! What a redeeming story of love and forgiveness and personal growth. I will be back!

Great theatre fun experience

Tennessee theatre is fabulou!

My wife and I attend events there regularly and are always amazed at how beautiful it is. It is well maintained.
The ushers at the Knoxville Symphony are especially courteous and professional.

Accessibility caution

By Cindy M |

The building is beautiful and the acoustics are excellent. However, this venue is NOT ADA friendly. My husband (a disabled veteran) and I were seated in the ADA section on the lower level. This section has a MINIMAL rise. Patrons stood during the entire concert. My husband spent the evening looking at their backs from his wheelchair. I asked TRAVIS (theatre manager) if my husband could be relocated to the balcony so he could potentially see the stage while sitting in his wheelchair. Travis said the ADA section we were sitting in "has a lift to it". I told him the small lift isn't sufficient to see the stage. He didn't apologize and he never answered my question. I told him our ADA tickets were a HUGE waste of money if my disabled husband couldn't see the show he paid for and asked again for an accommodation for my husband. Travis repeated that the section is slightly elevated. So I told him we might as well leave, he shrugged me off, completely unconcerned. His callous disregard toward the disabled and unprofessionalism were surprising given his position. We left the concert since my husband could not enjoy the show.
As we were leaving, the evening's EVENT MANAGER spoke to us. She was kind, professional and offered a sincere apology, although the "event" was not at fault. She also offered us helpful advice that we can use in the future to help ensure my disabled husband has a chance to enjoy the same experience as all able bodied patrons. Please consider this ADA challenge before choosing this venue if you or your loved one is confined to a wheelchair. The venue will be unconcerned.

Concert

By Macy |

A few years ago performers including actors and musicians joined fundraising efforts renovated this incredible space It can be very intimate. Have seen choral music, John Prine and Bob Dylan. There are also plays and musicals. Upstairs balcony seats. Downstairs a beautiful lobby with a bar. You cant have a bad time at the Tennessee Theatre

A true GEM!!

By Christy823 |

This is the most beautiful place! I work here as an usher and each time I walk in it still takes my breath away. It is undoubtedly a piece of history that was worth saving. The programs, the concerts, the shows and the movies are all top notch. You have to experience it one time and you will definitely want to come back for more!!

I have grown up going to the Tennessee Theater there is so much history in this building it is great. They have a great environment and atmosphere, just enough to make it cozy and yet not too big either. The character and decor is also great!

The Tennessee Theatre is one of the most beautiful structures in Knoxville. There are numerous events thoughout the year for all ages and tastes. Selection of programs is far enough out to plan your whole year! You can pick out seating online and there are no bad seats!

A favorite venue!

By 914ej |

Whether for the Broadway series or America (the band) whom we saw there recently, you couldn't ask for a better place to see either. The restoration was remarkable so you feel as though you have stepped back in time. So fortunate to have this place in Knoxville!

90 years young and still looking good

By Wayne J |

I love going to the Tennessee theater. They’ve done such a great job of keeping it fresh even after nine years. We went to the beach boys concert last night, which was amazing. I always look forward to anything I can do at this location.

A Frequent Visitor. Always a joy to see a show there.

By Danny G |

The Tennessee Theater is a completely restored venue from another age. When they rehabbed the place they had to ship in guys from England do to the restoration because all of the skills they needed had died out a generation ago in this country. It is a beautiful reminder of a bygone era.

Magnificent venue

By plawhorn |

First class decor and restoration. Beautiful to be in and the perfect venue for performances. A glorious reminder of days gone by.

Beautifully restored old theater, the crown jewel of downtown Knoxville

By Timothy W |

One of the most beautiful venues for music and theater that I have ever seen. Comfortable seating with great acoustics. This is by far my favorite venue in the area. The theater always enhances the experience of whatever show that we are seeing. I love going there.

Fabulous acoustics

By OrindaLady |

We saw Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt in an acoustic concert. The sound is perfect. The building itself is lovely. I enjoyed walking around and looking at all the decorations in this historic, restored theatre. The next day we were able to go in for free because they were showing old cartoons for families because it was Halloween weekend.

Tribute to Neil Diamond 10/11/19

By Raymond 1948 |

I am a frequent patron of the Tennessee Theatre. And on Friday I experienced perhaps the WORSE show I have ever seen there- The tribute to Neil Diamond. Were Mr. Diamond to have been in attendance he would have given the show a thumbs down.
The music was off way off. The fellows in the group were way off in the music and the singing. I have no idea why this hallowed place had such a show scheduled. Someone there should have vented it! The KSO was directed by somebody associated with the touring group. Not even good at all. The KSO perhaps did the worse job I have ever heard them do and I have been to a lot of their performances.
I give this show a 0 or 1 at best. Not worth the money! Just going to the hallowed theatre was the only thing good about this particular performance. I wished I could get my money back to be honest.

Great theater to catch a show

By bryana w |

I’ve been to the Tennessee Theatre multiple times, most recently for a show during the Broadway 2019 season. The theatre is beautiful, the acoustics are amazing, and every seat in the place is a good seat. Highly recommend this for any show, musical, or concert.

Horrible experience

By LaVista H |

What was supposed to be a magical experience, was indeed a nightmare. Could not find any staff to ask for directions or help. This was my first time here. Once we did find someone, they were absolutely rude and belittling when asked simple questions, such as restroom locations. Proceed on to the night, my friends and I were threatened to be kicked out of the ballet, with NO explanation given. My entire night was ruined, and the experience completely soured. I also pre-paid for a photo with a ballerina. I did NOT receive this service. There were no time frame or specifications given at the door, by staff, or on the tickets. The photographer was also extremely rude. Walking away from me and shouting no when I asked if he was still doing pictures. Worst experience I have ever had at a theatre.

Great Venue

By JeHo63 |

We’ve been to several events at the Tennessee, from Alison Krauss to Ken Burns. Great acoustics, great ambience, a real gem in Knoxville.

Amazing historic theatre.

By seagirl817 |

The Tennessee Theatre is The Theatre of Tennessee. It has been completely restored to it’s original beauty. The architecture and the ornate design inside sets the stage so to speak for a wonderful time at a play, a musical, a symphony concert, a ballet or even a movie. The Wurlitzer organ that rises up from below the stage is magnificent. The organ player entertains with classics you will recognize and almost always ends with The Tennessee Waltz. This is the place to go for events in Knoxville. Absolutely superb !

Beautiful architecture

By Beth H |

The theatre has been beautifully maintained, it is a show piece. My 16 year old daughter and I watched a fantastic production. The staff are helpful and friendly. We look forward to our next performance. There are so many different types of shows the fun is for all ages.

Take a step back in time and enjoy. Not a bad seat in the house!

By Halsie |

We went to see the Chris Blue concert and were in the last row of the upper balcony...GREAT SEATS. I used to go see movies here in the 60's and it has been restored to its former glory. The Tennessee Theater is a present day link with the Grand theaters of the early 20th Century. Don't miss an opportunity for any of the events here.

Tennessee Theater

Great historical theater in the heart of beautiful downtown Knoxville. We have seen many numerous productions concerts chorale performances and all DESERVED AN absolute "BRAVO"!

1920's Style Historical Theatre - Must see!

By tellis78 |

The Tennessee Theatre is an amazing theatre that was completed in 1908. It offers Broadway shows, concerts, special events, bar and plenty of comfortable seating.

The theatre is a tourist attraction for many and is located in downtown Knoxville, TN. There are many local and chain restaurants on the same street and in Market Square, which is a block away. It's very close to the Women's Basketball of Fame, the Coliseum, Thompson Bowling Arena, the University of TN, the World's Fair Site, historical buildings and statues.

The theatre is conveniently located near the Old City where you can find restaurants and music venues. There's three breweries in the area, Woodruff's Brewing, Saw Works Brewery and Crafty B******* Brewery. It is also closely located to the Knoxville Visitor's Center where you can catch a live, free concert at noon Monday-Friday. The theatre is within walking distance of several hotels. There are other hotels nearby where you can catch a trolley and see downtown.

A Grand Entertainment Palace

By Geoffrey G |

The Tennessee Theatre was built in 1928 as a movie house. It had a fairly shallow stage (not much real estate front to back) but was reasonably wide. As a stagehand, I had the opportunity to work in the Tennessee many times. It was always a challenge with the dimensions of the stage.
About 12 years ago the Theatre underwent a multi-million $ update. The seating area was improved, a lift for getting scenery from the back of the theatre to the stage level, and the stage was made deeper. This accommodates a LOT more events.
The Tennessee Theatre is truly a grand entertainment venue.

She's a beauty

By lee9 |

Worth going not just for whatever event is taking place but for the sheer beauty of this theater. They took years and millions to restored every inch of this ornate, intimate building and it shows. It actually glows! You should take time to see the walls, the chandeliers, the ceiling, the balcony, etc. Listen to the pipe organ and visit the concessions stand. Popcorn, snacks & water $3, drinks up to $10. No venue parking must use city lots.

They cancel your tickets if you live outside the state because they think everyone is a scalper

By RyanR1981 |

This has been my 3rd attempt to buy tickets to this venue over the past 5 years. Every time I buy, my order gets canceled. When you contact Ticketmaster they say the cancellation comes at the request of Tom Bugg, the manager at the Tennessee Theatre. When you contact Tom Bugg he wants an explanation as to why someone from out of state would want tickets to an event in TN (granted there is no zip code restriction anywhere on Ticketmaster - so why should that matter?). Every time that I've spoken with him I've relayed that I'm buying them as Xmas gifts for family who live in Tennessee, and yet still, every year my order gets canceled. To be fair, there was one year that he offered to give my tickets back, but then he said that they wouldn't be etickets and that I'd have to pickup from will call the night of the show (not my family that lives in TN, no, not them - ME..me who lives across the country). The last 2 years because of this, I've had to go on to Stubhub and buy exorbitantly expensive tickets because my original order was cancelled without merit, and Ticketmaster was by then sold out. Today that stops, I'm no longer going to try to give business to this theatre. I've tried, I've explained year after year, and apparently Tom has some personal vendetta against me and my family. If he is going to blindly cancel orders just because I don't live in the area, he should at least have the decency to relay that to Ticketmaster so that they can mention that tickets are restricted to a particular billing address X amount of miles away from the Theatre.. that way I can at least use a different Ticketmaster account and not my personal one. Hope you live in Tennessee.. that's the only way your order isn't going to get canceled!

Like being on the inside of a Fabrege egg

By Mary Pom C |

It is always such a huge pleasure to attend just about anything at the Tennessee Theatre. If the show on stage (or screen) is lackluster, you still just sit back and enjoy the theater. It is well run with a fabulous staff!

Beautiful interior!!!

By edleingroup |

You have to attend an event if for no other reason than to see the theatre. Truly spectacular in beauty! I have been to a lot of Broadway plays, have been season ticket holder and have attended concerts etc at this venue. I love it's historical note and exceptional shows it showcases. I give it four instead of five stars only because the seating is pretty tight for a tall person...and if you are beside or behind a large person you can be crowded or not be able to see over or around them.

Beautiful Theatre

By bobby31 |

Had always wanted to visit this theatre, so when Mamma Mia came, my wife and I decided that we were going to go. It did not disappoint. I have been to several older theatre's, and I must say this one was the overall best. Seats were big enough, sound was amazing, decor and ambiance were great. We didn't get anything to eat, but the popcorn sure did smell great. If you park in the State Street Garage, it is free, but give yourself a little extra time in case the garage is full. I will definitely visit this theatre again.

A Must Visit

Tennessee Theater was Beautiful!

We were visiting downtown Knoxville and were just walking down Gay St and were asked to attend a free Wurlitzer Organ concert so we went in and had a lovely one hour lunch visit and the gal who sang had a gorgeous voice. No fee, just a beautiful Monday afternoon experience.

The interpenetration of both passion and will

Mighty Musical Monday was a truly wonderful event that occurs on the first Monday of each month. Mighty musical monday is a unique opportunity to experience the fruits of dedication, passion, persistence, and the harmony of various and talented individuals within the musical arts.I hope to return on a monthly basis

The Tennessee theater is also a beautiful location to visit, even for those that are not interested music. I highly recommend dropping by.

Most Intimate Venue

This is the most intimate venue I’ve been to. There’s not a bad seat in the house, the acoustics are amazing, and it’s just down right beautiful. This is a must if they are showing something you’re interested in.

Old School Theater

By Gary C |

An amazing place to visit for concerts, old movies and just to see the magnificent renovation of this historic building!

Beautiful Theater

By Karen M |

Wonderfully restored theater that has off broadway shows, comedians and musical events. Seats are very comfortable.

Sound

By Eddie & Lesa |

I will start by saying the theatre is absolutely beautiful !! The problem is the sound quality. I’ve been to several shows and you can’t hear a thing unless your seats are on rows 1-8 on the bottom level. It’s really sad that they can’t or won’t fix it.

Tennessee Theatre

By R7045TBtonyp |

Been there many times. Great place for a concert or Broadway show. Lots of great places to eat nearby.

Went to see Travis Tritt in concert at the beautiful Tennessee theater

By DD13lakeNorris |

We went to see Travis Tritt in concert at the beautiful Tennessee theater. All of the work they have dome.to restore this theater is amazing. It is so extremely pretty. The staircases, etc. If you can ever make it work, go to a concert there, not a bad seat in the house. They also have two full service bars there. One in the lobby entrance and one downstairs by the restrooms.

History plus Entertainment

By Roadrunner383 |

The walk to the theatre is as beautiful as the interior. Great place to watch a show, play or a concert because it's a small venue and there are no bad seats in the house!

Three Dog Night

By Loralee W |

Such an iconic and lovely theater. Parking was convenient (free) and a short walk to theater. Going through security was easy and getting "checked in" was painless. Several ushers were available to assist with any issues. We had seats pretty far from the stage (can't remember exact section); however, we could see the stage from all angles. The show was amazing, too. Love going to the Tennessee Theater. Attended Three Dog Night and had a wonderful time!

Gorgeous theater!

By Krista F |

I’ve seen several productions at this theater and it’s a wonderful place to watch a performance! It’s intimate so every seat is good, and it is absolutely beautiful!

Beautiful theater

By Hilary W |

We went to the free showing of It's a Wonderful Life in December at the Tennessee Theatre. The inside is GORGEOUS! The sound quality was fine considering we didn't have the best seats in the house (next time we will get there extra early). We are planning to see a show or two this year there as well.

America in concert

By Geoffrey P |

Got to see this show in this really beautiful old theater. Just walking in the front door you get the the sence of being a time traveler when you take in the old school details and craftsmanship that went into this historic building. The concert was great with fantastic acoustics. Hope to see other shows here.

Comcert

Not a bad seat in this house!!! Beautiful venue and good drinks. This is a historical hall on gay street in knoxville

Elegant and comfortable

By Guillermo D |

We have had season tickets for the Knoxville Symphonic Orchestra for several years and we enjoy every performance and the ambience. It is a very elegant theater nad it atracts from the young to the very old.
It is truly a jewel.

Great historical building

By H9928ETscottw |

It's a must that you see at least one concert here. It's an amazing historical building that is very impressive inside with the elegant trim from the early 1900s. The theater is small enough that there's no bad seats. They have concessions with alcohol that is quite reasonable for concert events. Acoustics are very good, so you will not be disappointed with the sound.

Beautifully renovated theater

By Valorie B |

We have been attending concerts, symphonies and shows in this theater for over 8 years and we would highly recommend seeing a show here.
We have been to theaters all over the world.
This is an old beautifully renovated theater in downtown Knoxville.
We are proud to have this lovely theater in our now home town of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Theatre beautiful. Concert acoustic sound, poor

By dbauman |

The theater is absolutely beautiful! Friendly, accommodating staff with comfortable seating. The ONLY drawback, at least at this concert (Brit Floyd), was the poor acoustics of the venue. Music bounces off all the surfaces making it completely undesirable. Sound is not crisp and hard to appreciate because of the lack of the acoustic absorbing environment. Certainly not a top notch concert hall for rock music.

Historic music venue

By Catherine A |

Love seeing bands perform here! Beautiful architecture lovingly restored to its original beauty. Don’t miss an opportunity to attend a show here.

Tennessee Theatre

By Laura H |

Gorgeous, a must see! The Mighty Wurlitzer is amazing. Movies are great, cheaper than movie theaters.

Fantastic music venue!

By sandytntn |

The Tennessee theater historic theater which has been renovated. It has a fantastic sound and is a great place to see concerts. I’ve seen several concerts at the Tennessee Theater and I don’t feel like there’s any bad seats in the auditorium. I have not seen a play here but I can imagine it would be great for that also. They do serve alcohol at the music shows. There is a bar in the lobby and a second bar is in the basement. At sold out shows getting into the bathroom can take a bit of time but not that bad. There are parking garage is nearby plus it’s on a busy street with many bars and restaurants to check out either before or after the show. It’s a really nice venue because not excessively large.

Primus show at an awesome venue.

By Nolan C |

Beautiful venue for a concert. The acoustics sounded great. The security seemed on point, the ushers were helpful, and the bartenders were quick. The only down side was the beer price... $7 for a yuengling.

Broadway at the Tennessee always a hit

By JamesRaRa |

We went to see Fiddler on the Roof - one of my all time favorites. There is no better venue to see an iconic live performance. The movie palace is beyond beautiful, at site worth touring even if you do not see a show. The Fiddler performance was a little different from others I have seen. Not sure I want it to be changed.

Lots if nearby options for food or drink before & after the show.

Beautiful and Historic Theatre

By linda r |

A must-not-miss venue to visit if you're in Knoxville. Concerts, plays, musicals, opera, and even movies are wonderful here.

Not a bad seat in the house. Beautifully restored. One of my favorite places all time to see a concert.

Gorgeous Architecture, Terrific History - Americana Lives!

By Wenwood |

If you love old theatres, this is one of the best. Built in 1928, and recently refurbished, this is a classic piece of architecture (inside, not out). There are often free concerts at least one Monday a month at noon. We were glad to hear live music so that we could soak up the sound and history. An antique Wurlitzer and a local a capella women's group brought the place to life. (There are also shows and concerts and movies. Consider booking in advance.) We signed up in advance online for a backstage tour after the show, which was fun and which deepened our appreciation. Some of the interiors details are truly magnificent, especially the lobby, the concert hall ceiling, and the lower level bar and restrooms. The audience sang the national anthem unaccompanied by music before the show began, which was very moving, very East Tennessean, and a very unique experience for us.

Excellent Theater

By Charles S |

Had the opportunity to see a Christmas show at the Tennessee Theater. Despite going to college in Knoxville, it was my first time in the venue. What an outstanding theater. It rivals most of the venues on Broadway. Just wish it would draw better performances. If you have a chance - go.

Great Theater

By JKJaster |

Saw The Monkees Farewell Tour here. Seats were comfortable and had plenty of room to get around. Historic Venue

Beautiful Historic Theater

Absolutely beautiful classic decorated theater that has a free musical event one Monday per month around 11:00 a.m.. Free entertainment from tap dancing groups to solo singers plus the old large playing organ. Plus "Barney" impersonatorfrom the Andy Griffith shows always greets you at the door !

Wonderful music venue

The most beautiful theatre

By Kristi V |

A performance at the Tennessee theatre always feels so special. The Tennessee Theatre is so beautiful, and we love going there. There’s not a bad seat there!

Black Jacket Symphony Concert

By dru d |

Beautiful theater, but the sound during the concert was sub-par! This was the second concert ( of multiple ) we had attended at this theater where the sound was very muffled and hard to understand the lyrics to the songs or anything that was said. In a venue of this size you would think the sound system would be perfect, like you were sitting in the recording studio. Maybe they need to upgrade or overhaul the sound system? Will really think twice about seeing another concert here.

Incredibly beautiful and amazing acoustics!

By Ratchet_of_Knoxville |

Originally built in 1928 and renovated in 2005, it's the best place in Knoxville to catch a live show. The acoustics are amazing and every seat is a great view. Seriously, there is not a bad seat in the house. Over the years I've been blessed to take in many performances in this gem of a venue.
A couple of tips: There is a bar and for big shows, long lines before the show and during intermission. The bathroom lines can be long as well. I always go to the one on the balcony level because not as many people know about it and that means shorter lines. Also, if you book a ticket to a show that you know you'll want to dance at, try to get an aisle seat. There are seats and they never remove them. There's never been a general admission show, it's all by the seat.
I highly recommend grabbing any show there, just to experience this place.

Such a wonderful place!

By Chastidyi |

I've been to the Tennessee Theatre several times over the years. This last venture there was to watch The Princess Bride, one of my all-time favorite movies. We sat on the balcony, and we had a great view. The image was clear, and the sound was great.

There was a bit of a snafu with the organ on the proscenium... they weren't able to get it to go down again. The organ player was humorous about it, though. They pushed it out of the way and got on with the show.

The Theatre is gorgeous, and they offer snacks and beer which is neat.

We have plans to go again soon for the Rocky Horror Picture Show event!

Violins of Hope

By APP1980 |

What an amazing performance. It was one of the best ones yet!

The work done to preserve these instruments is a complete labor of love.

Most beautiful theatre in the world?

By Deaver Shattuck |

I’ve been in many and I’m not sure I can name one that clearly more beautiful. Many similar to be sure. But the inside of the Tennessee is truly awe inspiring. Great for concerts, plays or even a movie. I watched Ben Her there when I was 10 (40 years ago) and I’ll never forget it.

Beautiful Venue!

By MasterP007 |

We went to see Jason Mraz there in March and I had forgotten how beautiful the Tennessee Theatre is. Great, small venue to see a show.

Excellent stage show. The Tennessee theatre always makes you feel as if you are a wealthy New Yorker attending a stage show.

Beautiful theater.

By TNGuitarguyD2 |

I have attended 3 separate shows and they were all wonderful. As far as architecture goes this is a beautiful building. The sound is spot on, service is excellent and they do offer refreshments. Parking can be bad depending on the time .

Great classic old time theater

1st time visit to the 90 year old theater. Classic old time theater was great place to see show. Would have given 5 stars but the drinks at the concessions were way over priced.

By johnwragsdale3 |

Just a gloriously beautiful place to watch a classic movie, attend a concert or enjoy a live musical.

Great Venue

By Vol Gambler |

Go there mostly for eclectic concerts, such as Harry Connick Jr, and some plays. A wonderful place to visit just to see the magnificent architecture and interior. I'm never disappointed with the theater, though parking can be a challenge.

Accessibility

By Family S |

Beautiful venue but a few things need to be addressed. I purchased accessible seating but our seats were not marked. I had to have my husband go find an employee to come in & see if we were in the correct section. After finding out we were in the correct seats, we were accused of taking the seats by young fully able bodied patrons (who were already intoxicated). Again an employee had to tell them that we were in the right seats. My question to TN Theatre is why are you allowing able bodied people to reserve seats that are supposed to be only for those with physical disabilities?? For the record, I’m in a wheelchair.
From there I decided to use the restroom. I went to the one that was marked accessible only to find a line of able bodied young women & girls in line. Very frustrated since I’m in a wheelchair & there were other restrooms they could’ve (and should’ve) used. Lastly, my elderly mother was with me & she went to the regular women’s restroom where a MAN was in line behind her. When she returned to her seat she was visibly upset and said she didn’t feel comfortable with a man going into the ladies’ restroom so she got out of line.
Overall the physical building is beautiful & the musical itself was outstanding.

You take a trip into the past at this beautifully restored theater.I have seen concerts, as well as broadway shows at this facility and would rank it as a top notch place to enjoy both. You will definitely enjoy spending time at this theater.

The theater is beautifully restored and the service was very good.

Little Feat Concert

By Candy S |

What a beautiful venue, we were there for the Waiting for Columbus tour with Little Feat. The theatre is beautiful and the ushers were so nice an accommodating. We will most definitely keep an eye on future performances and be back. Well worth the 3 1/2 hour drive from Virginia.

Gorgeous theater, poorly managed

By |

The Tennessee Theatre is gorgeous, but that's not enough. A new management team is badly needed.

At a recent event, the executive director came on stage wearing old blue jeans, scuffed boots, and a nondescript sweater. What, they don't pay her enough to wear something better than she'd wear for a quick errand to the nearest convenience store?

More than once, a show that I attended at the Tennessee Theatre was ruined by whining, crying, or tantrum-throwing children who were too young to enjoy the show. Other theaters recommend that parents not bring children five years of age or younger. Why doesn't the Tennessee Theatre do the same?

Then there's the issue of the constant repeat of Broadway shows. For a while, it was "Annie." Now it's "Book of Mormon," a show that I find extremely distasteful no matter what the New York Times says about it. That show was booked for the 2016-17 season, and now it's booked for the 2017-18 season. Really?

And contrary to what other reviewers have said, there most certainly are bad seats in the house--the Tennessee Theatre calls them "obstructed view" seats.

Love, love, love this place!!

By Maggie S |

We go to numerous concerts and shows at The Tennessee Theatre throughout the year. One of my favorite venues of all time! BEAUTIFUL with great sound and a wonderful, intimate atmosphere. You won't be dissapointed.

Don't remember what I saw

By skittles124 |

This theater is awesome so beautiful words cannot describe it it has been here forever I remember going there with my grandpa

Drunks

By marlin61 |

Went to the Travis Tritt show . Instead of seeing Travis , I sat and looked at the drunks ass in front of me . The ushers saw everyone behind her was frustrated , but they did nothing . This has happened twice to us now since they started selling beet . No more money from me . The seats are worn out and too small.

Beautiful historic venue

By 4643ralphd |

I’ve visited the Tennessee Theatre many times over the years to experience concerts, operas, movies, and plays. I think it’s a world class venue and I always look forward to attending an event there. The sound is great and the seats are comfortable. They have a bar in the lobby serving adult beverages, as well as, soft drinks and water. Parking in the State Street is convenient and usually free in the evening and weekends. There are many great restaurants within walking distance. The bathroom line can get long, but that seems to always happen in similar venues. I highly recommend attending an event at the Tennessee Theatre. Enjoy!

Fantastic!

Great venue for the family. Let’s the kids know how we used to go to movies. Love the lobby! Love the ceiling!

Old Time Charm of Yesteryears!

By Tina Cano Lee |

My husband and I were first introduced to the TN Theater Christmastime of 2018. We were invited to attend a FREE I say FREE music concert. It was first come first seated so we arrived about 45 minutes before the doors open. FYI (The doors open approx. one hour before the performance). We sat in the balcony front row center. How awesome was that! What can I say, it sure did put us in the holiday spirit. I was especially enameled of the Wurlitzer Oragan and organist which is the house organist. Forgive me, I can’t recall his name. The full orchestra that came up out of the floor in front of the stage was just like I remember from days gone by.
They also hold Free Music Mondays which you can find out by checking their web-site or following their schedule on FB.
I can only say just one negative thing..........It was ME! If I had been wearing 1940’s clothing with hat and heels, it would have been absolutely perfect. Please do yourself a favor and slow down a little bit and take the time to go to the theater. You will make memories that will last your lifetime!

Wonderful venue for any event

By Mary Lynn T |

The Tennessee Theater is a beautiful place to take in a movie, concert, or other event. It has been completely renovated. I have fly recommend visiting whenever possible.

One the Best in Knoxville

The renovated Tennessee Theatre is a sight to behold without entertainment. Go to a live NY travel production as well as innumerable other events and it is a treat you will always remember fondly.

Went here to see the Little River Band

By Cajun1_Traveler |

We were in town for business and knew that the Little River Band would be playing here during our visit. So bought tickets and enjoyed the show. The theater is really nice and we loved the atmosphere and the acoustics during the show. The drinks are a bit pricey, but that is to be expected. The theater is fantastic and I would recommend visitors go here to see a show.

Historic Venue

By llwilcher |

The Tennessee Theater is a lovely historic venue for everything from comedy shows to Riverdance. The summer months brings a variety of movies, which makes for a great afternoon outting. They have a full bar menu and the staff is always helpful and friendly. If you’re really lucky, you’ll get to watch Bill Snyder play the Great Wurlitzer!

Great old time theater check your seat view

By Mark M |

Hello
I would like to share my experience with the Tennessee Theater Knoxville.
We had seats ORCLFT row K seats
43-45. Our view of the stage was obstructed by the wall and couldn’t see the center back stage.

Very disappointing the ticket venue should have stated obstructed view.

Disappointed fan.

Eagles

By Becky L |

It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I'm an old Eagles fan and saw them in concert when I was young. They were awesome then and still great now. The theater is absolutely beautiful. I remember what it looked like years ago and it's much prettier. All in all it was a wonderful experience.

The Tennessee Theatre is a fabulous place to attend a concert. If you haven’t been to this theatre, I highly recommend going. They even show movies periodically.

It really IS everything everyone has bragged about

By dbauman |

WOW! This place really is everything all of out friends have bragged about. There isn't a bad seat in the house! VERY opulent and a great place to see a concert!

Beautiful Theatre

By 4funtriptime |

No problem giving 5 stars if parking was better. This is a beautiful theatre and a treat just to view this renovated historical building. So glad we did not loose this local treasure. The venues are quiet the variety and may sell out fast. Keep an early look out for the ticket sales for your desired venue and purchase immediately for the best seats. Tickets are also available on TiceketMaster.com. Parking lots are located near and across the street, but do have a price, (5.00 to 8.00 usually). Free parking available on back street behind theatre but must be able to walk uphill and usually in the dark...not recommended. Restaurants are also located in the area but require some walking. Enjoy.

Always outstanding

By Iralgo |

Went with the My People Sr. Center. Venue is 90 years old. Always in awe of the theatre. Organ playing is great. We saw the Fresh Aire harmonica playing group. They were fantastic. Highly recommend. Rating... excellent.

I've had the privilege of attending 2 shows at this venue and it's absolutely gorgeous. Definitely check it out if you get the opportunity.

An amazing act of kindness

By Timothy T |

My wife/daughter had planned for months to attend an event last night in Knoxville. The company my wife purchased the tickets from committed fraud. She paid $273 for 2 tickets and kept being assured/promised these tickets, they never came. Despite this, they traveled to Knoxville anyway. Less then an hour before the show, my wife spoke with the theatre GM, explained the situation and he found them two seats and they ended up having a great time. She did not get the GM’s man but I want to publicly thank him for his professional kindness to turn a disaster into a beautiful Mother/daughter event.

This is a great venue for a concert. I will definitely be watching for my favorites to come through Knoxville.

A Very Special Experience - Like Going Back In Time

By TN Traveler |

A friend of mine joined me for the Tommy Emmanuel concert that was held in March 2020. It was my first time at the Tennessee theater having heard so much about it from my friends who grew up in the Knoxville area. I have only lived here four years.

Before you go I recommend you get on their website or look at videos of the history and restoration of the theatre. Many of the local people call it ‘our theater’ because it truly is the shining star of Knoxville. The architectural style is indicative of the time period in which it was created and designed in. The theater is a mix of many different European architectural designs.

The acoustics and the sound system are very good. The seats are comfortable although a little small for a big man like me. The entire auditorium area is so beautifully done. You can spend 20 minutes just looking around and enjoying it.

As you would expect, the bathrooms in an older facility like this and can get pretty busy during the show. There was a even a line for the men’s room so if you’re going to a concert expect to stand in line at intermission.

Overall a very delightful experience. One that is going to motivate me to go to other concerts in the near future.

Never a Disappointment!

By Ruth M |

I love this old art deco style theatre. It’s beautiful and well-maintained and a real feast for the eyes.

history comes alive

By doug c |

This place makes you stand back and take it all in ! It was built in 1928 with the history to go with it. It was restored just a few years ago. this is a very nice theater to see a Concert, Play or anything else that is happening !
The Décor, the Architecture is timeless , the acoustics is great , just seen 1964 the Tribute Beatle band perform.
This place is very nice, a nice place worth visiting.
Parking garages are all around this building a block or less away.

GREAT OLD THEATRE

By DoloresJacoby.Let’sTravel.98368 |

This is probably my favorite of downtown venues with its beautiful architecture. Even the sign from the street is inviting. A range of performance types—orchestra, ballet, film in this great old theater.

Beautiful auditorium

By Ronnie H |

I am always taken with the interior. The ceiling is beautiful. I generally feel comfortable here. Good security. It seems the staff are very organized and are willing to help.

I rated average b/c we could not get into the place to see the top ranked attraction....

By tencatdaddy |

in Knoxville which seems somewhat odd. When we stopped at the box office to inquire about a tour were told that "sometimes the organist will give them but he is not here and no one else is available to show you around"--except the three employees who were standing behind her in the box office but could not be bothered........

One would think tours would be offered on a regular basis. If the non-profits of the city can do it then it should not be difficult for a money making venue to figure out how to offer them to visitors. No one at the theater seemed concerned nor did anyone at the visitors' center. It was an "oh well.....too bad" type of thing. And if guided tours or access are not available then do not include it as part of your walking guide and tourist attractions listings.

I found it amazing that every other venue in the city had people going out of their way to encourage visitation and tourism but this place simply could not be bothered and their attitude seemed to permeate anyone who asked about it.

Oh, my!

By Lucky2bme66 |

The Tennessee Theatre must be experienced to be belived. It transports you back to a time of lavish productions in decadent surroundings. The condition of the facility and attention to detail are just breathtaking.

Wonderful place to attend a concert

By Bill S |

My wife and I have attended concerts, movies, stand up routines and even Cirque de Soleil at the Tennessee Theatre. The theatre went through a massive restoration several years ago. The acoustics are very, very good. I would definitely recommend attending a concert or other show at this venue.

Wonderful experience

By pfcoach |

Quite an incredible performing "palace". We for blessed to have been present in forward orchestra seats for the last concert of the season by the Knoxville symphony. Great program that included compositions by Bernstein, Florence Price, Gerswhin & Copland --- the middle two of which were piano concertos.

The preserved finish of this structure is fabulous --- from theater to bathrooms!

Amazing Historic Theater

By Marty A |

I have been to several shows and the entire experience is amazing. The history and grandeur of the space is worth the trip and yet the modernity of the facilities are hard to beat.

Beautiful Theater

Mill work is the best
Comfortable seating with wide aisles
Full bar
Plenty of restroom space
Lots of off site parking nearby
Free parking after six

Stunning Venue

By buonviaggio007 |

I have been to see pop music, classical, theatre, and even Casablanca with an organ concert beforehand. This is a great treasure in Knoxville. Opened in 1928, it used to be a grand movie theatre. Still grand today after a renovation in the early 2000s, it exists as an entertainment venue which includes movies but so much more.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it’s always a treat to see something at the Tennessee Theatre. In fact, I sing with the Knoxville Choral Society and we just performed some beautiful music there this past weekend. A theatre with a lively history and a strong future.

A True Gem

By Pat C |

An Art Deco movie palace that today hosts varied events. From the moment you enter the lush lobby with the row of amazing chandeliers, you know this place is special. 1920s opulence is preserved while significant renovations allow the theatre to host traveling broadway shows and music events. Our favorite place for a Knoxville show.

Wonderful trip to historic theather magic

Chris Blue at The Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville

By jayhooper |

I recently attended a Chris Blue concert at The Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville. The evening was an experience hightened by the sights, sounds, and décor of this beautiful room.

Outstanding classic theater

By papercut1 |

We went to a showing of "The Princess Bride" while visiting Knoxville and were delighted to see the beautifully restored Tennessee Theater. The restored organ that rises from the floor to the stage started the evening with some delightful music and quaint atmosphere. It's so nice to see such a classic theater. If you live in or visit Knoxville, you owe it to yourself to catch a show if only to enjoy the beauty of this building!

Beautifully Restored Historic Tennessee Theater

By Parodee |

Hosting varied cultural events, concerts, Broadway shows, and even a free event on the first Monday of each month, the Tennessee is a lovely venue in the heart of Downtown Knoxville .
Located near many restaurants with ample public garage parking (often free depending on time/day of event), the interior of the Tennessee is an attraction in itself!
Handicapped accessible.
Although my visit was as a couple, it is appropriate for all visitors and locals- again some events are targeted for certain audiences (fans of particular band/artist, etc.)

Opera with our Middle Schooler

By Amber F |

A beautiful theatre, older and full of character. A nice place to see a show, play or in our case an opera. Bathrooms are downstairs, the seats are a bit dated, but without a doubt a nice place to visit

FANTASTIC !!!

By Norma S |

We traveled 3 hours to see "1964 The Beatles Tribute" here. It was well worth it...wow, not only was this a very nice venue, the concert itself was out of this world....it took us back to more simple & fun times.....so happy the theater offered this concert! We will definitely keep a watch out for other offerings. We enjoyed touring Knoxville & this was our highlight. The theater was clean, tickets were reasonably priced and acoustics were very good....truly a memorable evening!

Simply stunning! See it to believe it!

By Wolfgang S |

We have season tickets at the Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA. So we have a good Theater for comparison. I wasn’t sure what to expect at the Tennessee Theater but I was amazed how beautifully is. What a gem in Knoxville! Amazing Art Deco , crystal chandeliers you like to take home and a wonderful intimate theater with about 1,400+ seats. No bad seat in the house!
Tip: there is a parking lot on Church street for convenient parking.

Bait and switch

By Alvin |

I attended the Gov't Mule show here. Awesome Venue, terrible policies. I ordered a double crown when i got here. No problem. Show started at 8 pm. I go back and wait in line for 20 minutes after the first set (9:10), only to be told i can only get a single alcohol the rest of the night. So, instead of me being able to have a drink that will last me the remainder of the night, their policy forces me to miss some portion of the last set, if i want to get another single. No Bueno. I choose to not spend any more money in here.

Beautiful

I love going to events at the theatre. The staff is always so helpful and the Theatre is so beautiful!

Most Beautiful Theatre in Knoxville

By Black and Silver Nomadic |

It doesn't matter who you book here, if you're in Knoxville and you can catch a show at the Tennessee Theatre you need to do it. This is one of the most beautiful historical theatres in the country. We actually saw Tom Segura here when he passed through, and we love Tom so the show was great. That aside though we were just as excited that he played here, as we had seen several shows in town, and none happened to be here. Absolutely a thrill to listen to a comedian we enjoy while admiring the architecture of this incredible place. And then after the show, you step out onto Gay and have so many options to let the night continue! Be sure to dress up when you go, not because of a dress code or anything, but when you snap that picture of yourselves in this beautiful spot, you'll be happy you look the part.

Gorgeous venue & great acoustics

By lisagM941FY |

The Tennessee Theater is one of knoxville’s gems. If you are able to see a show or concert there, do it!
It is absolutely gorgeous with great seat options. We love it there and take every opportunity to visit.

visually lovely theater, human element needs work.

By kyval_67 |

The Tennessee Theater is indeed a beautiful attraction. The decor of the building is something to see. The rest....what can I say. The ushers didnt seem to know much about what was going on. Asked to go to our seats after being let inside, we were told we couldnt go to our seats yet due to a private event upstairs. I wondered why they even opened the doors if they werent seating yet. We waited in the hallway for about 35 minutes until they started seating.
My guess is they wanted to sell drinks.
Which beer in cups were sold for 6 dollars, which compared to some venues is a good price. Mixed cocktails were 8 and up.
I am happy to say I didnt spend more than 6 dollars,
They also had popcorn and candy available.
We were seated in the balcony, third row from the railing and it was a great view to the stage.
The seats are tight and not alot of leg or elbow room at all.
The sound was good.
The complaint about this venue. The staff. They were mostly rude, with the exception of the women downstairs at the bar. They were the only two people working there that night who even tried to be friendly.
And whatever you do at this theater....DO NOT get out your phone.
The man seated next to us was reprimanded for texting his daughter, IN BETWEEN SHOWS.
I mean, I can understand asking people not to use their phones during the show, but this was after the first act finished while the stage was being set up for the main act.
This was a concert, not a play. so of course people want to get a few pics of the performer.
I think at least 5 people in our section were jumped onto over thier phones.
The usher stood over our row like a police officer watching, and if anyone even reached for their phone she was on them.
It was very distracting being watched for 2 hours!!!
Very rude to paying customers.
I will probably never attend another show at this venue due to this one behavior.
People pay hundreds of dollars for travel, tickets, gas and food and then get treated like they are prisoners.
Did not care for the staff at this venue.
The act was good as always and enjoyed the concert overall.
Parking was close, lots of restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream nearby.
I do not have any photos as I was scared to death to try to take any.

Awesome place. A MUST SEE.

By Ray B |

Go for any reason!
Movie, play, concert, go.
The theater has been restored to original grandure, and it's awesome.
Don't just go for the perforance, walk around, that alone is worth whatever you paid to get in.

Gorgeous venue, perfect venue for a show or concert

By SKQ |

Gorgeous venue. Recently renovated and beautiful art deco style. This is the perfect venue for a show or concert. Every seat in the house is great. We loved the balcony seats. Very intimate setting with great acoustics. Will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

A jewel in the crown of Knoxville

By heyjudithz |

This place is magnificent and simply amazing to behold. The craftsmanship and care that were taken in its construction AND restoration are both a work of art. Our most recent visit was to see Jersey Boys, and this was such a nice place for the production. Thank heavens this treasure was saved from ruin. I am proud of Knoxville for keeping up the lovely theater.

Tennessee Theater

By Barbara F |

Beautiful old restored theater complete with antique organ that raises and lowers to above and below stage level. It occasionally has silent movies with organ accompaniment and also family movies.

Great place to watch a film, concert, play...Cool old school Theater

By Gary S |

Been to more than a few events here. I call it the "mini-Fox" after the Fox Theater in Atlanta.. The acoustics and ambiance are second to none. Don't miss the Wurlitzer Organ play (a little corny, but cool) This is a Great Date Night idea, since there are soooo many Fantastic Eateries within walking distance. You won't go wrong here, whether it 's date-night, or taking the kids/ Grand-kids to see a real Old Timey Movie house this is it.

THE TENNESSEE THEATRE - KNOXVILLE'S GRAND ENTERTAINMENT PALACE

By happytraveler1943A |

What used to be a movie house built in the 1920's has been completely renovated with the stage doubled in size to accommodate full symphony orchestras and major opera productions. Every effort was made during the major renovation to retain the original ornate design and part of the experience of attending any event at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville is simply admiring the fantastic beauty of this magnificent performing arts center. From the line up of performances, one can choose from from pop bands, solo artists, symphonic orchestras, opera, ballet, stand up comedy and much more. The Theatre still offers a run of classic movies and often the mighty wurlitzer organ is lifted to the stage to perform a prelude before a production or even provide special music at select events. Currently, public tours are limited but more are in the works so the best way to really see this magnificent venue is to purchase a ticket to an event to bask in the glamor of the wonderful showcase. The Tennessee Theatre website has a complete history of the building as well as details of events that sometimes include programs open free to the public.

Mighty Musical Monday

By Gary S |

On the first Monday of each month, there is an approximate one hour program of music, singing, and entertainment. It is from12:00 noon to about 1:00 pm. Various musicians, singers, and bands perform. The programs differ each month. Cameras are permitted. The programs are perfect for singles, couples, families, and/or groups. The Tennessee Theater has been completely renovated to provide an ambiance of elegance and yesteryear atmosphere. The Wurlitzer organ is one of the few remaining in perfect condition and utilized in each monthly performance.

The King and I

By Carol S |

A beautiful venue, but what a disappointment in the seats located under the balcony on first floor. The sound hit the overhang of the balcony and just stopped, there were no speakers to enhance the sound. Two theater goers used their phone throughout the performance. The line for the ladies room was rediculous, women’s facilities did not seem adequate. Expensive seats for not being able to see actors expressions, and only getting residual sound.

Moscow Ballet at Tennessee Theatre

By Leslie E |

Recently took our mother’s who are elderly to the theater to see the Moscow Ballet, the theater was reminiscent to their childhood and has such a richness and elegance to it. It was sub-per.

Beautiful Venue!

If you can get by the absolutely crushing presence of UT football in the area, Knoxville in general and the Tennessee Theatre specifically is a nice place to visit. The theatre is downtown and conveniently located to just about everything in the area.

Beautiful, the Tennessee theater is an event all by itself just being there. Even if it is just to see a movie the atmosphere makes it so much more.

A magical place

By Jayne Y |

My husband and I had our first visit to the theatre to see Rodgers and Hammerstein 's Cinderella. It was so thrilling to see a lit up marquee! We haven't seen anything like that on any years. As we walked in to see all the beautiful chandeliers, it took my breath away.Such details, and beautiful colors abound. The employees at the concession stand were all smiles and grace. They were glad to help us. The people up by the doors were so patient and nice to answer all our questions and lead us to our seats. We had front row center, right by the orchestra. The conductor greeted us with a hello, and thank you for coming. Wow! That was a first for us. The sound system, lights, stage decore, costumes were magnificent. So much eye candy, where do you look first? The details around the stage, like the fleur De lee up all around, the flag, the beautiful magestic ceiling! The cast had wonderful voices and sang, acted grandly. I was enthralled. We have never felt so welcomed and entertained. My regret is waiting too long to come .We signed up to get previews of future plays. Can't wait to return. Don't miss this grand 90 year historical theatre that brings back the feeling of transforming a performance!

World-class beauty

By llshore |

Growing up in Knoxville, I liked the Tennessee Theater but didn't really understand why my parents thought it was soooooo beautiful. A couple of years ago I attended a Broadway show at the Amsterdam Theatre in New York and was struck by the impression that it was no more beautiful than the Tennessee. Recently my family attended a concert at the Vienna Opera House in Vienna, Austria. It was certainly breathtaking, but again I thought of the Tennessee and how astonishingly beautiful it is. We are so blessed to have this gorgeous place right here in Knoxville.

Beautiful Venu For a Classic Movie - But Get Rid Of The Sales Pitch Beforehand

By Peter |

The TN Theater is a beautifully refurbished venu to see a concert or stage performance. The theater hosts a classic movie series each summer. I saw "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". The prices are fine and they have a special on a small popcorn and soda. They also have beer. Nice twist.

The Wurlitzer organ performance of classic old tunes lends a nice vibe before the movie. But then someone comes on stage and begs for money (via sponsorship of the theater), giving the history of the place etc. A bit of a turn off. When you pay $10, that's the donation!

MoTown the Musical

Summer Movie Series, Knoxville symphony

By Jane M |

We saw "9 to %" with Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton and Lilly Tomlin on 8/6/17. Was great and the organ prelude was an additional surprise. All events that I have been to at this theatre have been great. Never had a bad experience in the years that I have been going.

Gorgeous, but hot!!

By Amber S |

We went to see Anastasia and the production was great and the theater is absolutely gorgeous, BUT it was so hot inside when we were there and with the seats being on the smaller side, it was uncomfortable. We were 5 rows back from the stage, so it’s not like we were high up or anything, and still so hot. The performers were drenched with sweat as well (which I know is not uncommon). It would have been nice and more pleasant for it to be a little chillier during the performance.

I come here the first Monday of each month to their free concerts. The venue is absolutely fantastic. The organ and organist is super. I like that at the beginning of the show patraism is exhibited. Highly recommend. Rating... fantastic.

We have been here for many programs, it’s our favorite place. The really nice thing is there is not a bad seat.

Restored Classic

By TennesseeEd |

The theater has been wonderfully restored and well maintained. Acoustics are good and practically all seats have a good view. While some are slightly obstructed seats, they are noted at the time of ticket purchased and the view is still not bad. It is still an excellent venue to view an old movie, a concert or a broadway show. In general, the admission prices are fair for the quality of entertainment offered. The overall experience is excellent.

I agree that the Broadway Series does repeat shows too often. While obviously it is not a problem for individual ticket purchasers, it is disturbing to those holding subscriptions for the Broadway series.

Parking is nearby and the public lots are free on evenings and weekends making it convenient to take in a show, or other Knoxville events. The theater is a short walk from Market Square and the activities and eating establishments in the area.

SPECIAL NOTE: For those in town on the first Monday of the month, the theater offers an excellent opportunity to visit for free. It is called First Monday and a free organ concert is offered plus other entertainment. There is also an opportunity to purchase a box lunch if you like.

A Jewel on Gay St.

By Mitchell A |

I just looked over and noticed two one star reviews of the Tennessee Theatre. Hard to believe a person’s sole reason for such a negative rating had to do with their inability to get adequate alcohol for the event. It caused him to miss 20 mins of the show! Sounds as though he confused the TN Theater for a bar! Nothing about the beauty and the amazing acoustics. I have been attending events at the Tennessee since moving to Knoxville in 1975 and there aren’t many small venues in the country that can compare. It’s the only place in Knoxville where the sound is good no matter where the seats are located.

This place is amazing

By brett s |

We went for a music concert. Honestly the theatre was more impressive than the music, LOL. This theatre is BEAUTIFUL and well kept. The architecture is amazing. The event was well organized and everything worked as scheduled. The sound was great as was the view from our seats. There was always a staff member nearby to assist.

This venue is world-class!

By REBECCA S |

Whether you are a local or just visiting Knoxville, the Tennessee Theatre is a truly exceptional experience! It offers something for everyone and every budget, everything from concerts, symphony, opera, Broadway, classic movies and various holiday events. We are so lucky to have this beautiful theater to grace our downtown!

The most uncomfortable venue in Knoxville, TN

By 831vickig |

When they renovated this place they chose capacity over comfort. Seats are narrow and there is NO leg room. The shoulder/arm of the person sitting next to you is touching yours if they use the armrest, so you have to shift over to one side. Like sitting in a coach airline seat, only worse. Knees touch the seat in front if you don't sit up uncomforably straight I used to go there a lot but I now choose to go to any of the other Knoxville venues because they ALL are more comfortable. For me no show is worth the discomfort of sitting at the TN Theatre for several hours.

Tennessee Theater - a true gem!

By RoadLessTraveled |

Have been to countless concerts, shows & movies here. It is absolutely gorgeous & has great acoustics. It is the best medium sized venue in the area, free parking available evenings & weekends at the State St garage behind the theater, with concessions and alcohol available.

A must-see in Tennessee!

By JennaMoses |

We watched a showing of 'Gone with the Wind' here recently. The theater is gorgeous, so classy & elegant. The concessions were affordable, nice restrooms, friendly staff, comfortable seating...A++

Corporate greed at its finest

By Voyager242832 |

Theatre only cares about almighty dollar and NOT about its patrons. TDOT and Knoxville Police state the roads are too dangerous for travel and to shelter in place yet theatre will not issue refunds, even partial refunds or provide tickets to a show in the future or anything to allow its patrons to not just be out of luck and money.

Awesome Historic Venue

By Shawn P |

Great place to see a show. History surrounds you. Not a bad seat in the house. Plenty of spots to visit before and after the show.

Beautiful building

By Linda-Flygirl |

It is amazing how they capture the original uniqueness of this place. They even use original materials or repair them to the original look. Conveniently located downtown Knoxville, park & walk around to enjoy downtown Knoxville.

Tennessee Theatre

By Mark L |

Tennessee Theatre is beautiful and a great spot for bands, plays, and comedy acts!!

The layout promotes the ability to see the entertainment from anywhere in the theatre.

We also love the acoustics of the sound as it goes through the entire theatre.

Allison Krause 90th Anniversary for the theatre.

By aburgess609 |

Wonderful venue and great show. The theater is beautifully restored. Everyone should see it. They are celebrating the 90 years for the entire year with concerts, plays, KSO, and movies.

Historic Theatre

By Carol A L |

Knoxville's best kept secret! Visited for first time to see The Jersey Boys and was amazed at the beauty and comfort of the theater!

Best (and only) theatrical house in Knoxville!

By Diannedtn |

Beautifully restored to it's hey day. Just gorgeous inside. Have been to over 20 plays and or concerts over the years and never had a bad experience! And they actually show old movies on a big screen too!

Great renovated historic theatre!

By Stacy Nickell |

This theater was renovated 10-15 years ago and is now a joe to both perform and attend concerts in this beautiful hall. If you get a chance to go to a show, concert, or event here, you won’t be disappointed. Great management and beautiful renovation. A Knoxville Must.

Historic Venue with Modern and Traditional Events

By George S |

We live Downtown and go to the Tennessee (the State Theater of Tennessee) for traveling and local musical acts, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, as well as visiting Broadway Shows. The Knoxville Opera performs here as well.

Each Monday in the summer is a free music performance at noon with the Mighty Wurlitzer rising from the orchestra pit, and classic movies are shown several times per year.

The seating is restored and reproduction theater seating, and so is not made for modern human dimensions. The interior of this theater palace is fabulous, in all its resorted and gilded 1930s glory.

Free parking is available at the garage behind the theater, and its sign is a dynamic symbol of the state and the city.

It is a beautiful theater and I haven't been to a show yet that I didn't enjoy there.

By Leah B |

This is a beautiful theater. The shows are great and I LOVE the Wurlitzer and the players. This theater was completely refurbished back to the style like it had been while it was new. Decor and atmosphere are great if you love the old time theaters but the acoustics are good even for modern concerts. The theater was originally built 90 years ago and the attention in detail when it was refurbished is amazing. I feel like I should be in 1900 formals with gloves and a fan when I go.

Beautiful!

By Melissa L |

Saw The Broadway Show Rent here and it was GREAT. There are no bad seats and the sound is absolutely amazing. I get a feeling of stepping back in time when I am here and it is always a wonderful experience .

Beautiful Theater

By Janet F |

The Tennessee Theatre is historic and one of the most beautiful theaters we have seen. We had great seats on the aisle but there probably aren’t any bad seats since it is a small theater. We attended the concert during Covid times. Vaccination cards or negative Covid tests along with a photo id were required for entry. Masks were required. In spite of the extra entry requirements, entry to the theater was well organized and moved quickly. Staff was friendly and helpful The merchandise table did look long. Acoustics were very good in the theater. We really enjoyed our concert.

Premier Knoxville theater

By Elizabeth S |

This is my favorite theater in Knoxville. Not only a great place to see a show, but the beauty of the theater is magnificent! They offer a variety of musicians, Broadway shows, a local venue for rent and the Mighty Musical Monday for those who love pipe organ. At various times throughout the year they also offer old movies in the theater. White Christmas or It's a Wonderful Life on the big screen for example during the holiday season. You won't want to miss this gem downtown Knoxville!

Stunning Venue

By LovesToGo_1 |

The Tennessee Theatre is a phenomenal venue for concerts and plays. Parking is available near the venue and many restaurants are within walking distance. Every seat in this venue is good, although full stage view will not be possible from the seats on the extreme perimeter. The venue is well-managed, security is conscientious, and the ushers/staff are always professional and helpful.

great concert.

By Mary F |

I'm not sure of the exact date we were there but it was really amazing to see the inside of that building for the first time. Great concert enjoyed it so much

A really great historic venue

By LindaKnox17 |

Lots of wonderful shows, movies, and concerts here. I especially love the summer movie series - great classics shown in a wonderful setting. They also sell refreshments (including wine), which is a really nice touch.

Old theater

By LostInTime |

This is a very nice looking old theater. It looks to be in great shape and it’s cool that it’s still around. It looks like a lot of fairly large acts come to Knoxville.

Abba Concert

By Dan W |

Another fun evening listening to live music at the Tennessee Theatre!

Staff and ushers were polite, helpful and attentive.

Always a good experience, but there are some seats to watch out for, that are close to the stage, that have NO legroom in front of you. Avoid Orchestra Right and left Row J, and you will have a much better time there.

Great venue...

By Anurag Agarwal |

Gone to many concerts plays and operas here...excellent renovation has, made it a great place...all seats have a great view...acoustics are very, good

What a Gem

By Karen B |

This beautiful theater is worth a look even if you are not seeing a show. It’s an Art Deco showpiece with all the decadence that comes along with its style. Beaty is everywhere and the signage out the front Tennessee memorable. For the record we saw Jersey Boys and it was excellent.

No more

By Melissa H |

Be wary when you purchase. Recent significant snow and ice event here in East TN and the theatre refused to cancel the shows - which would have allowed patrons to receive refunds. The local leadership and emergency services were urging people to stay off the streets and the theatre updated their post with ‘drive safe and arrive early’. Patrons came out of last nights show to ice covered snow and slick streets but hey, the show must go on

I’ve been to many shows here and that stops now. Yes I know there are schedules for the tour and the production company calls shots. But this venue routinely touts itself as a home town jewel when it asks for donations during fundraising but proceeded to not support its community in a very unique circumstance

Shame on them

Spectacular venue

By Carole |

The Tennessee Theatre is so beautiful and I love seeing the Broadway shows there. First row balcony is the best seat in the house in my opinion.

Old fashioned way to see a movie.

By Daydream208232 |

We really enjoyed the free showing of the original "Miracle On 34th Street". The theater is amazing in its old fashioned style. The intermission was a surprise. They had an organ rise up and play to the crowd. The whole experience was very enjoyable. They also have plays throughout the year.

"The stage"

By mswoods42 |

The Tennessee Theater has always been a beautiful place. After renovations, it is simply spectacular. There is not a bad seat in the house. This is a great place for concerts, plays, movies.........Surely anyone visiting this place will leave satisfied and happy.

I love this venue. It is a lovely, intimate location for concerts, plays, comedians, etc. Every seat has a good view and the restoration they did on it is fabulous.

Great Place to See a Movie

By mws0717 |

I took my wife here on her birthday to see the movie Titanic during their Summer Movie Magic event. I don't think I've ever seen a movie on a larger screen. We also saw Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella back in December. We really love this place and are always looking for opportunities to go back.

Beautiful building, great showd

By carrie k |

I've been going to the Tennessee Theater since I was a child, decades ago. It maintains its original beauty. Great service every time we visit. We always enjoy watching performances here.

Official State Theater of Tennessee

By Chip H |

Built in the days of Vaudeville, this is one of Tennessee's gems. Restored to its original grandeur, you will experience class at each event you attend there. Saw my first movie, 101 Dalmations, there 50 years ago at the age of three.

Gorgeous Theater Worth It Just To See the Inside - Show Was A Bonus

By Y Knox |

The Theater is amazing and great for a night out. The acoustics are exceptional and its nickname as the Grand Entertainment Palace is fitting. It's Moorish Revival architecture impresses throughout. There really isn't a bad seat in the house but I sat on the floor in the W section as I got tickets late for an event there and it was just fine. Even the drinking fountains are unique as they're the closest you'll get to drinking out of a roman looking bird bath. We created a blog called YKnox to hold ourselves accountable for exploring all things Knoxville. For more on the theater experience and some quick tips on going such as parking, what to bring and what to wear check it out.

Night with Alice

By cindypowell03 |

Been to Tennessee Theatre many time including for Christmas movies and concerts. The best night ever was the Alice Cooper concert. The venue was fantastic from the elderly very gracious ladies excorting you to your seats beautifully artistic surroundings of this old beautifully restored building. Classy says it best! The theatre is something to see in itself and if you have never seen it you won't be disappointed. The sound was amazing and you can lose yourself just looking at your surroundings and Wow that ceiling!! If you are lucky enough to see one of the classic movies shown at Christmas you will get to see the pipe organ rising out of the floor and being played in the ways of the days of old when going to the theatre was for the rich and was a long awaited experience. If you are making a trip to Knoxville and have the chance to see it don't hesitate well worth it. Its a experience of a memory that will last you forever, they don't make em like this anymore! Go and enjoy!

really good shows

By joshuak889 |

We watched several shows here and we really have enjoyed everyone of them. I would definitely go back and the building is very historic.

Mighty Musical Monday

By BlessedMama7644 |

We always enjoy this free lunch time monthly program that is an open to the community. The musical talent is always wonderful. Mr. Brabson and Dr. Snyder play beautifully and host a variety of talented individuals to accompany them.

Note: There is also a limited supply of brown bag lunches for $5 each which include a Chick-fil-A sandwich, a bag of Lays potato chips and a cookie. Drinks are extra $2.50 for a soda. Slightly less for a bottle of water.

We have also attended the annual "It's a Wonderful Life" movie in the evening. The Tennessee and is truly an elegant and historical place we love to visit. ❤️

Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Show

By ChuckyWoodchuck |

My family absolutely loves the Tennessee Theatre. We have visited there several times and always look forward to. It a very very beautiful historic building. Everyone that works there has always been nice and seems to really enjoy their job. Our last visit was in December to see the Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Show. As always we had a great time and the show was wonderful. If you haven't been there, I would totally recommend it.

A delighful theatre for a musical concert

By Donald W S |

While visiting Knoxville we decided to attend the Monday noon free concert on August 5th and see this wonderful old theatre that has been restored and hear the famous Wurlitzer organ played by Freddie Brabson and hear the K-town Sounds - a ladies barbershop singing group. So glad we attended. Just to see this theater was a worthwhile experience as there are few historical theaters of this caliber remaining. The program offered was a BIG plus!

Great Concert Venue

By aknight2018 |

Such a great venue for concerts! It's like the charm of old but it's so beautiful and kept up so nicely. We love everything about it!

Always Excellent

By KelAbroad |

The Tennessee Theater is a gorgeous location for small concerts, opera, and musicals. It is meticulously maintained and as clean as a whistle. Gracious security hosts and ticket workers. It’s nice to also be able to grab a side, wine or warm popcorn at intermission and surprising since the theater is so elegant and tidy. Tip: Buy your tickets in advance as events tend to sell out quickly. Lots to do nearby. Have dinner before the show or browse Mast General Store. Convenient parking all around.

Chris Blue in concert

By ttolbert778 |

The concert was awesome and the theatre is absolutely amazing! The theatre and its new renovations is drawing all locals back to the place we grew up visiting. I am looking forward to attending some of the concerts for adults only. My grandkids really love the Blue Brothers and are big fans. Can’t wait for my next event held at the beautiful Tennessee Theatre.

Great place

By Tom C |

Sound is amazing! I have been to around 50 concerts there over the years. Plays and comedy shows too. Not a bad seat in the house!

Stunning theatre

By paml55 |

We have attended multiple events at the theatre. Wether it’s a movie, concert, or broadway play you will not be disappointed. The restored theatre is perfect for multiple genres of events and the pipe organ that is played before a movie or sometimes a play has been kept in pristine condition. The gorgeous stairway adds an air of elegance from Hollywood glamour days.

A throwback to the Glitz and Glamour of Hollwood.

By Hillbilly V |

A beautifully restored theater that is small enough for laid back atmosphere and large enough for stars like Gregg Allman, Joe Satriani, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedesche, Eric Johnson, The Black Crowes, Bob Dylan, Brit Floyd etc. And I have seen several of those shows as well as several not mentioned. They could use enlarging their restroom facilities as well as having another drink station. But those are small inconveniences when compared ambiance that you will experience in this venue. Keep in mind, it was built in 1928!

Concert

By Tommy G |

This is a beautiful theater it has been around for over a hundred years they've had many many concerts from the symphony to Megadeth they also host many comedy shows and local events this is a great place to go you must come in and see how beautiful the inside of this old theater is

The Historic Tennessee Theatre is the perfect venue for an intimate concert and Chris Blue really brought the energy to the place! One of the most beautiful restored theatres in the country !

Kudos TN Theater for Booking Nile Rodgers and CHIC-A Truly Spectacular Performance

By John E |

It has been a few years since we attended an event at the TN Theater-prior to a renovation. When they advertised Niles Rodgers and Chic I purchased last minute tickets. There are many positives to seeing an event here: Easy and inexpensive parking, many good restaurants, good acoustics, diverse events, such as Broadway plays concerts and symphony classics and an excellent concession area with drinks.

When we were seated it appeared they really did some impressive upgrades. The interior is really “high end” and similar to some of the larger upscale theaters in the bigger cities. The architecture and interior are impressive. The staff is courteous and excellent.

Nile Rodgers and Chic were fantastic. Their performance was electrifying, unforgettable and the horn section was really incredible. When they did the songs Niles wrote for Bowie and Diana Ross, they were spot on. This performance was one of the best performances I have seen in 50 years of going to concerts.

When they performed “Good Times” they brought up a school group from the audience to dance with the band. This group is touring with Cher, usually do big venues and Vegas, and I was very surprised the TN Theater was able to get them here. This was their first time playing in Knoxville. I give the TN Theater and the Nile Rodgers / Chic performance a stellar review and hope they return.

What a magnificent venue

By Mike M |

I have visited this location for several shows over the last few years. The facility is top notch, with one exception. The ladies need additional restroom facilities.
My most recent visit was to see a showing of the classic, Gone With The Wind. What a perfect setting for that viewing.
Interestingly the first time I saw Gone With The Wind was in this same Theater as a boy, 50 years ago.

An unexpected treasure

By Jessica S |

The decor in this place is amazing! It's like sitting in an inside-out art-deco faberge egg. Everything is meticulously restored, from the carpets to the chandeliers. It's 20's glam at it's best and yet feels very cozy and comfortable. We came for a show not realizing that the venue itself would be such a treat. Will definitely be back!

beautiful historic theatre

The Tennessee Theatre is stunning throughout. Make sure you really wander as much as you can to see the balcony, the downstairs bar and bathrooms, etc. Pretty much any seat here is "good" even if you don't purchase one of the "great" seats.

Beautiful!

By Dawson |

I went alone to see a musical, and i was delighted to discover on a seating chart that there are two seats in the theater that are separate from others and in the very back. I got to sit alone, so no one bothered me. The view was perfect, sound was wonderful, and the theater itself is quite ornate. I enjoyed it very much and will definitely return!

Refurbished classic 1920's grand movie theater

By 2Foodies8 |

A few years ago this theater was brought back to it's original glory and the stage/backstage area was enlarged in order to accommodate more touring shows and musicals. From the elaborate decor to the acoustics it is a treat to attend Wurlitzer organ concerts, classic movies, Broadway shows and other events.

Beautiful Historic Theatre

By Bobbie S |

Located in the old and now thriving downtown Knoxville that still retains a small city atmosphere, this historic theater deserves one's attention. During recent years, it has been renovated to match or even surpass its original glory days of the 1920's. Today it's venue of Broadways shows, symphony, special tours engage the the community and, if time allows, should be sought by visitors to visit. I've been many times and will continue to go to events there.

By Amber F |

I've been to several concerts and Broadway productions and I'm never disappointed here. This place is worth the price of admission just to look at the amazing decor and beautifully restored piece of history. We recently saw The Black Jacket productions of Queen a couple of months ago and then Journey. An awesome time was had by everyone. Love, Love, Love this place.

Great Venue for Concerts

I have been to several concerts here and it is the best of any place in ir around Knoxville. Beautiful venue, great acoustics. Worth it for every concert I've attended.

Beautifully restored

By Heather H |

The Tennessee Theater has such a variety of events and experiences available at this venue. The building itself really is a destination in and of itself. It’s been beautifully restored and he is has one of the most beautiful interiors in Knoxville downtown. I would do my best to make a show at this venue on your to do list.

Wonderful visit to this grand old Theatre

By travelingcheap |

I've visited for classic movies (Hitchcock) and comedy shows. Both worked well in this setting. We loved the atmosphere and the feel of the Theatre. I highly recommend a trip to the Tennessee Theatre for anyone visiting downtown.

The Tennessee Theatre hosts a variety of events, concerts, shows, movies, etc. It is located in downtown Knoxville just a short walk from Market Square. Parking is available in a lot across the street and at the garage near Market Square (free on non-event weekend evenings).

Nice but tight

By Greg M |

Beautiful venue. Very classy but seats are smaller that airline seats. Very tight and not comfortable. If your event is exciting and spectacular you may be on your feet the whole time and not have to worry about the squeezy seats. Other than that, good acoustics and nice visuals.

Russian Ballet performance of The Nutcracker

By Gene H |

The TN Theater is a wonderful facility and to see the Russian Ballet Nutcracker performance was all that more special. Don't just take my word for it, there was a group of Russian patrons in the crowd and their review included lots of smiles and compliments for the performance. This is the first time I was able to enjoy the original Russian performance and I will be watching and waitinf to see it again in 2018.
Enjoy

Wonderful Theater

By barbara b |

We saw Motown the Musical. Never been in the theater before but read about the history and wanted to check it out while visit Knoxville. The theater is beautiful, the sound was very good. I was surprised that a theater (with a Broadway show) would sell popcorn. It was a wonderful experience, evening parking was free in the parking garage near the theater.

Stunning venue

By Alison L |

Saw several concerts here during the Big Ears Festival....and a ballet. I sat in various locations in the venue, sightlines were fine in all of them, and the sound was excellent. The theater has been restored beautifully- it hails back to the late 1920s I believe.... Moorish references in its decorative touches, one of the most beautiful venues I’ve seen in this country, and i have seen a lot!

I have enjoyed several concerts at the Tennessee Theater

By Steve B |

Classic architecture with wonderful acoustics, made this a great place to see live music. Every seat has great viewing, so you can see the performers good. Has a nice bar for drinks, love going to any event at the Tennessee Theater; love the Marquee Sign at night

For Top Attraction in Knoxville was bit disappointed

By Lara S |

After having read many of the reviews of this attraction and being a recent visitor to Knoxville and the USA I was surprised and a bit disappointed that the top rated "thing to do in Knoxville" was closed and didn't have anything on the whole time I was in Knoxville so unless I organised a private tour I had no way of seeing inside. I'm sure it is beautiful and a lovely theater but I was hoping to see if myself and not by peering through the closed front doors.

Excellent place to immerse yourself in the Arts!

By littlelibrarian |

This beautifully restored theater is a must see. I’ve seen many productions and concerts here. I think my favorite show was The Jersey Boys.

1st and worst theatre experience, VERY RUDE

By LaVista H |

What was supposed to be a magical experience, my very first ballet(The Nutcracker!), was indeed a nightmare. Once I finally found an employee, which took quite some time; your employees were extremely rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful in locating seats or restrooms. I have never been to this theatre before, and quite frankly don't know if I will ever return. Every simple question I asked (excuse me, where's the nearest restroom?) was a hateful response, as if I were a blundering idiot for even asking in the first place.
I was also threatened to be kicked out of the ballet for allegedly being "overly enthusiastic". There was no explanation given to me. These events soured the entire night for me and my family. I applauded these artists in an appropriate manner just as every other person was doing. I am completely appalled that this happened to me. I was too discouraged to even enjoy the ballet, thinking if I made a single sound, I'd be thrown out.
I also pre-paid $30.00 for a photo with a ballerina. I DID NOT receive this service. I asked the photographer if he was still taking photos, he turned his back on me, walking away and responding with a loud "NO". I should at the very least, receive a refund. Several families, including mine, were extremely upset and confused since there was absolutely no time frame specifications on our tickets or at the theatre.

A very classy old theater

By fhayward2018 |

We were there for a private showing in the evening. It was cold and rainy outside and the security staff allowed us to go in and get checked out in the main lobby instead of standing outside. Once security cleared us, there is a theater counter area that sells soft drinks, snacks, and liquor. After securing refreshments, we used the stairs to the second floor and was surprised to see many seats in the balcony area. Take a few minutes to admire the beautiful ceilings in this old building, as this is an architects dream. Craftsmanship that isn't present in too many buildings today is abundant everywhere the eye turns. Sound quality was good, and I have difficulty hearing things, but I didn't miss much. The temperature was very comfortable but it must have been cold inside since there were some teens with their hoods up. Bathrooms were spotless and the entire theater staff was very pleasant to all. A great experience.

Historic and charming

The theater has recently been updated and is gorgeous! There's not a bad seat in the house. I go to the Broadway shows and have been impressed with the sound from the orchestra and the stage music. I would recommend this place for any type of theater presentation. And let's not forget THE Organ music! Just wonderful.

Plays

This theater is awesome, words cannot truly describe its beauty. We have season tickets, and every we go, we are in awe. The staff and ushers are very friendly and helpful. I recently had total knee replacement, did not have convenient seating. I inquired about special seating - they immediately went to work and switched my seat.
I would highly recommend to attend any show.
BTW, the first Monday of every month, they offer entertainment at noon time. You can listen to the mighty Wurlitzer. They offer box lunches for $5, or you can bring your own.

The Tennessee Theater: Knoxville's Crown Jewel!

By gsperl |

The Tennessee Theater has been recently renovated and restored (over $23 million!) to it's original grandeur from the 1920's. Upon first entering the theater from the street level, you are overwhelmed by a period - and spectacularly beautiful lobby = these words hardly do it justice! The lobby is quite large and leads you to the entrance of the auditorium. Then ... once inside the auditorium, your thoughts will immediately shift from the beautiful lobby to the stunning and breathtaking splendor of the walls, ceiling, carpet, the colorful seats, the balcony, the artifacts and of course, the stage itself!

The Tennessee Theater hosts a variety of live performances ranging from Broadway Shows to Rock and Folk Concerts, The Tennessee Theater is also home to the critically acclaimed Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Whatever your tastes are in entertainment, you will likely find it at the Tennessee Theater. There are usually several events there each week. The beauty of the Tennessee Theater is an enticement in itself. If you find a performance of your liking, your evening will be twice as enjoyable!

The Tennessee Theater is truly the Crown Jewel of Knoxville!

Beautiful venue for a concert!

By Bea Y |

This is such a beautiful place for a concert. It is a historic theatre, 90 years old, but beautifully restored inside. The seats are very comfortable, and i do not think that there is a bad seat in the place. The staff here are very pleasant, and add to the overall positive experience. Definitely recommend this venue!

The Tennessee theater holds so many wonderful memories for me. As a child, this is where I saw the best movies with my sweet grandmother and aunt. I still remember the magic of that beautiful place...and the magic is still there. Every time I go there, it takes me back to my wonderful childhood. It is beautiful and a perfect place for a play or a concert! You have to find a reason to go!

Have seen many live music concerts here and I don't think there is a bad seat in the house! The location to local taverns makes it a great date night destination.

The Book of Morman

Irreverant comedy that made you laugh when you wanted to cringe. The writers poked fun at everyone and I do mean everyone.
The theater is wonderful. There's not a bad seat in the house.

Beautifully restored theater. I have attended several different events over the years. It’s truly one of the most beautiful venues that I have ever been in. I have seen countless concerts here. The only complaint is that the bar on the balcony level isn’t always open. Friendly staff.

An Excellent Historic Venue! It's an experience just to enter this place. There's a particular intimacy and comfort to be had here that you can't find in a modern venue. I can't recommend it enough.
