Fun way to spend an afternoon in the Austin area

By Ann M |

We arrived too late for an orchard tour, but we had a great time in the tasting room. They had a collection of 6 flavors of olive oil (three were made from different olives, and three were infused), and 8 or so balsamic vinegar. My husband was quite taken by blending the jalapeno olive oil with pineapple infused balsamic vinegar. The staff are super friendly and informative. We enjoyed a carafe of sangria before heading on to a winery. A good place for a good time with friends.

still recovering from the freeze but getting there.

By Experience275415 |

We like to stop and have lunch here and get some Texas olive oil. Small place but nice lunch items. They had to replace all their trees after the big freeze so the trees are small and they are just getting back to tours of the olive grove and production. It is just a quick stop but worth it.

Beautiiful spot on Fitzhugh

By Patsy W |

The building is beautiful...rising up on a hill as you approach it from a two lane road. It's surrounded by olive trees and next door to a open pasture with many long horn cattle grazing the tall grass. We always buy at least 2 bottles of the Texas olive oil and taste test others. Not much food on the menu, just snacks.

They were exceptionally kind and helpful

By TeacherTraveler |

We arrive about 15 minutes before closing and they could not have been nicer. They sat us down for a tasting, spent time explaining while we explored the traditional and Texas flights. Both were amazing. My daughter LOVED the variety of vinegars. They were delicious! It was her favorite stop of the day!

By lisa o |

I was really looking forward to seeing the grounds. Yes their oils were great. Their cheese plate was probably 4 stars. Still disappointed that there wasn’t much to see, ie no olive plants.

A must stop

By Glenn S |

Olive trees, olive oils, vinegars, wine, and a nice little bistro. Ok, they have beer too. See my pics for a lot of good info. Definitely try the gelato. The staff is very friendly as well. Lots to see in the store. I am so glad we stopped.

Great Food, Good Wine, plus more

By JN-FoodieForever |

We have been to Texas Hill Country Olive Oil company several times now, and have always had great food and good wine. We also stock up on oil and vinegar each visit. Our favs are the Jalapeño Olive Oil and Traditional Balsamic Vinegar. In fact, just received another shipment! Deelish!

GOTTA LOVE OLIVE OIL MADE IN TEXAS

By TREVI36 |

Tuscany hasn't got anything on this place. It's very pretty, the people are very friendly, they get their wine from West Cave Cellers and have some amazing brunches, Valentine's dinners, etc. Only drawback is the prices are very high end.

More fun than a winery

By michaelmB2164JC |

Great winding road to Italian Style Villa, sample the various olives, and enjoy great sandwiches. Better than going to al winery

You will learn about growing, harvesting, and making olive oil

By Perkypaws |

This tour is not appropriate for children; they will be bored out of their minds, and there is not anything for them to do here.

These folks are passionate about growing and producing the finest olive oil they can. You will learn the ancient and modern history of olive oil production, the varieties of olive trees and what they need to thrive, how the trees are pruned, and the olives harvested. They will show you the equipment and explain the various stages of oil production (nothing is wasted). They encourage you to ask questions.

After the tour you will have a better, informed experience in the tasting room. Their balsamic vinegars are delicious. They have a limited little bistro but my hands down favorite was the herbal lemonade.

Of course if you don't want to look at an olive tree or learn about the production of olive oil, you can just visit the facility and taste their products, but I would recommend you take the tour.

Great visit

By PNG81 |

Great time and visit. The mill tour was very informative and interesting. We got there alittle early so had time to check out the trees and enjoy a glass of wine. Would love to do this again

Pleasant Surprise

By Richard H |

This location has an extensive array of sauces and oils from which to add to your kitchen, in addition to the many cooking-related items available. Wines and cheeses available for tasting. Busy place, but worth the visit!!

Went for the olive oil, left with the balsamic

By Shirley J |

Realizing that it was late in the day, I knew we wouldn't get the tour, but the woman at the tasting bar was willing to take us out to look at the trees and tell us about them. I asked too many questions that received the, "that's a good question" response without any substantive answer. Wish she'd had some more training before offering her services.

We tried all the oils and we tried most of the balsamic vinegars (which they import and flavor) and I wasn't that impressed. I didn't care for any of the olive oils. I found a few balsamic vinegars I liked, but overall it wasn't an impressive experience.

Yummy

By Jessica A |

Olive oil and vinigar that is soooo good... many different flavors of vinigar.. oil was good but same type you see other places.. vinigar is where it's at... so many to choose from.. strawberry is ammmazing

Add some Olive Oil to Wine Country Tour

By David H |

Beautiful facility with friendly folks to help select excellent Texas grown olive oils. Opportunity to taste all their products and pick our favorites for ourselves, and some bottles to bring home as special gifts for our friends and relatives. Good stop along the Hill Country Wine Trail.

Great Place to Visit/Tour

By Don L |

Very interesting and educational tour. Products (olive oils and balsamic vinegars) are top quality. Not only regular flavors but also a wide variety of flavor infused ones. Can spend several hours here doing the tour, wine tasting, and lunch. Definitely a worthwhile visit.

Amazing products, good experience

By BKAG04 |

The olive oil and balsamic vinegar from here is fantastic. I keep going back for more, especially the jalapeño olive oil. Makes great gifts and for personal use. This place is a fun stop for a snack and wine tasting as well. The only downside is that it is a bit expensive, but everything there is quality products.

Good visit but also disappointing

By LoveToTravel |

For us it was quite disappointing. It should be called Texas Hill Country Olive OIL Co. as they do not sell any of their olives. Is their olive oil good, yes, but the over inflated prices for their olive oil is ridiculous. The staff seemed more interested in us eating lunch there than anything else. Will not return anytime soon.

Olive Oil

By ggoss33 |

Very cute place. Just expected a little more variations of Olive oil and balsamic vinegar. What we tasted was average. Looked to be very family friendly.

Interesting Stop if in the Area

By Tim R |

I was intrigued by the TA reviews and the fact that I didn’t realize that olive oils were produced in Texas (according to one of the gentlemen working in the tasting room, there are actually a significant number of producers in the state).

The large, Tuscan-style building is set beside the road at the foot of the olive orchard (note: the building is approximately .5 mile further West on Fitzhugh Rd than my Garmin GPS expected). Walking into the building, you are immediately faced with the large tasting bar. The staff offered warm greetings and happily explained the company; organic olive oils produced and the imported balsamic vinegars. The oils and vinegars, along with bread pieces, are set-up across the bar for a self-serve tasting.

All three of the non-infused oils had a somewhat unusual, but pleasant grass flavor. I bought a small bottle of the Texas Blend. There were also a large number of flavored vinegars available.

The oil/vinegar tasting room doubles as a wine bar, offering wines from a number of local vineyards. There are also a variety of olive and wine related gifts available.

Although I wouldn’t make a special trip to visit Texas Hill Country Olive Company, it is an interesting stop if you are visiting some of the local wineries or just out for a drive through the Hill Country.

Yes, we really drive for Olive Oil and Balsamics

By Kathryn I |

The Olive Company has great Olive Oils. We use them almost daily. All their flavors are just right and not overdone. The Balsamics are delicious and can serve as a Salad Dressing with nothing else but them. The Original and the Fig are favorites. They have some Texas Wines from the area to try and buy too. Neighbors said you are driving to get Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar?! I brought them some back and now they drive to get Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegar! Just wish they would bottle the Jalapeno Infused Olive Oil in the BIG BOTTLE too.

Super experience!

By JaneyB2 |

There were 4 of us (active seniors), my husband and I right here in Dripping and another couple visiting us from New England. The 3 of them wanted to visit “the olive oil place,” I was ambivalent but okay with taking time to do that. I am now SO GLAD we went (as are all three of them)! The tour was exceptionally informative and well done. I will forever taste olive oil differently, and the balsamic vinegar is to die for. Highly recommend that you take an hour two to spend At Texas Hill Country Olive Okl. We’re eager to return for a meal and may even decide to volunteer to help hsrvest polices.

Interesting stop

By Amanda W |

Stopped in with 2 teens recently and really wasn’t sure what to expect. Something none of us had ever done before, but it made for an interesting visit. Husband and I shared a peach sangria made with balsamic vinegar that was surprisingly refreshing. Then we shared the Texas flight of oil/vinegar as a family. Impressed that my kids took part in sampling all items. Items coming out of the kitchen all smelled amazing. Would definitely stop back by if in the area or recommend for a visit.

Great Place to Visit

By RobertWorldWanderer |

The staff here leaves a LOT to be desired as they tend to act as if you are bothering them by simply showing up. We got to taste a locally made olive oil, and see the tress, etc.It is organic and so the oils are a bit higher priced, but this is a well crafted olive oil. Using the garlic infused oil in several dishes for dinners at my home, I've had guests wowed by the fullness of the flavor. We were offered the wine tasting but they didn't seem as interested in doing that. They were more about the olive oil tastings, and the really excellent vinegar they also sold.

beautiful grounds and easy driveof Fitzhugh Road

By Silvia G M |

Olive Company is delightful day trip to olive press in the hill country, with a nice gift shop of artisanal products made in Texas.

Who knew there was so much to olive oil?

By capace |

We attended a tour and learned so much about olive oil -- not only about growing the olives and the production of the oil, but we were provided statistics and some very interesting information about olive oil worldwide. However, the best part had to be the yummy tasting!

The tour did go longer than expected, and the day we were there the cafe was closed due to a water problem. I would still recommend this interesting tour.

What do you want to know about Olives?

By Steve T |

This was a great visit. At only $6 per person for a near one hour tour and talk on the history of the Olive in Texas, Out to see the orchard and find out how they grow, and a detailed tour of one of the few olive oil presses in the country it's well worth it.
A little off the beaten track but only a few miles from central Dripping Springs there is plenty of parking, and the roads are good.
As well as the educational side there is an awesome shop with lots of funky olive related merch, also olive oil tasting bars, you won't believe the taste until you try it, and what turned out to be a very nice and friendly meal with wine.
The staff are awesome, friendly and talkative, we had a long chat with the owner and he seemed happy to tell us all about what they are doing there.
While their website recommends heavy walking shoes the walk was simple and flat and mostly in the parking lot, nothing to get worked up about and you could do it in flipflops! You can book ahead on the website too which might be worth it in peak summer periods.

Nice place to visit

By Stanley C |

Went on tour and it was very educational and interesting. Owner gave an informative speech about history of olives and his company and then lead us on tour of olive trees and the processing of olive oil. They have a nice retail shop to buy products as well as eat. Highly recommend.

Pleasant surprise

By peaker79 |

A scenic drive along Fitzhugh Rd. in Dripping Springs will bring you upon an attractive Tuscan style building that houses the Texas Hill Country Olive Company. Inside you will be able to sample a variety of flavored olive oils and balsamic vinaigrettes, as well as purchase unique items in the gift shop. The bistro offers a small menu with appetizers, soups, salads, and sandwiches, as well as wine and beer. This is a nice stop on a day trip to the beautiful town of Dripping Springs.

Tour guide was terrible

By TriMeat |

We were so excited to go to look around and take a tour. The building is great, and of course the olive oil based products are fantastic. We were so incredibly disappointed in the tour. It appeared that the tour guide didn't actually know much about the actual process, nor any details. For example, she didn't even understand what grafting was, when asked if they grafted their trees. When we got back inside to look at the equipment, we couldn't see inside anything nor was anything very well explained. It was also very obvious that she didn't actually know the different grades of olive oil and knew very little about what made it Extra Virgin. Desperately needs a different tour guide. I am being extremely kind in giving the Average rating, as I assume our tour guide was not the normal tour guide.

Must do in Dripping Springs

By 2206delk |

What an interesting tour. Beautiful place. We took the walking tour. Our guide, Donna, was awesome. She did a great job talking about the orchard, picking the olives, and extracting the oil. We loved it. Everyone was cordial. The owner was there welcoming everyone. We will be back.

My first olive company visit!

By Sandy241478 |

We found the tour very interesting. We saw the olive orchards and the pressing and bottling operation. I especially enjoyed tasting the oils and balsamics. Purchased some and had them shipped back to Ohio. We enjoyed a light lunch as well. Fun.

Great Tour and Delicious Olive Oil

By Jimmy G |

My wife and I did the tour and really enjoyed it. Very informative, learned a bunch about olive oil I didn't know. Sampled all the oils and vinegar afterwards. Ended up buying more than we needed of course. The olive oil is organic and fresh and really great. We walked out into the orchard afterward and got some nice photos. Nice place to stop in Dripping Springs for sure!

Great experience

By QueenJaz |

We had the best time tasting olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The lady doing the testing was very knowledgeable and friendly. The oils and vinegars were absolutely delicious. The only downside to this is how much money we spent because everything was so good. I wish we had eaten lunch there. We did have a prickly pear drink and wish I had bought 5 more. I highly recommend going on this tour.

Delicious Oil and Vinegar

By Mikeyveck |

We had a delicious lunch with wine and sampled everything. We tried lots of oils and vinegars. My favorite is the garlic infused olive oil. Great groves to walk around.

By monikat567 |

This family-owned business is a must on your list of places to visit when in the Hill Country area. The olive oils are divine. Make sure to try the gelato made with olive oil. I had the Rosemary gelato and at the suggestion of the staff i drizzled some wild cherry balsamic vinegar on top. They have a lovely tasting room set up and in addition to the award winning oils and vinegars, they sell some spa products and Texas influenced must have items for your next dinner party. The tour was very educational and you could hear and feel the passion this family has for what they do. After this tour you will stop using your commercial olive oil imported from Italy or Spain.

Olive oil in the Texas hill country

By TXdirt |

We had just visited the Winery just a couple miles away and figured we'd drop in and taste the local olive oils and vinegars. They were very good and matched up to other small batch bottler/growers we have visited in the past. The bonus was the small eatery onsite. The bruschetta was very good for a snack. They also serve sandwiches and have specials each day.

Great selection of oils and gifts

By Kathleen C |

The friendly staff will walk you through an extensive oil tasting. Something for every palate and dish.
There are sandwiches and other snacks to dine on. Texas wines are also available for sale.
In addition to food, there are also serving accessories for food and wine, flavored pastas, chocolates and cute hair accessories.
The building is beautiful, clean and comfortable. It is worth driving out of the way to visit here.
Warning: If there has been a lot of recent rain, the low water crossings may be impassable. Check before visiting.

Fun Place for Couples & Friends

By kpata |

For a relaxing and rememberable day trip this is a good place to visit. They have good sipping wine and often a small snack buffet on the weekends with music. They have very unique food seasonings they make from their own organic olive trees for that taste that will make your palates come alive when eating the same old snacks and meals.

Who Knew There Is Olive Trees in Texas

By Gran7 |

On the way back from baseball in Dripping Springs, my husband and I saw the sign for this unusual Texas business. We took the detour and were pleased with our find. Great little cafe and gift shop and tours lure visitors daily. Bought oil and balsamic for gifts. They even have olive trees for sale. I called to order more after our visit. They need a new phone system but is hard to get a call through and talk to a person

Cool Find in Hill Country

By Jordan C |

The olive oil tasting was delicious and the staff was so helpful and friendly. There are tours on Friday and Saturday.

Olive oil country

By metalmaiden |

Texas grown olives pressed to make olive oil that can compete with the best of the Mediterranean. 4 varieties plus any in fusions. Also balsamic simple and infused. So good it’s hard to choose favorites! There’s a cafe here and gift shop as well. Great place to take a break between wineries!

Excellent product from their own olive trees.

By llassocs |

We really enjoyed our stop here. They make very high quality oils and other oil products from their own olives. Their premiums oils are first cold pressed. The products are pricey. Their store has a wide variety of excellent goods. The staff was very helpful. On one side of their building is a small café that serves lunch and snacks. We had a charcuterie that was plenty for two. All the items on the board were delicious. We also had an olive oil and fruit gelato that was very nice. They also offer a variety of sandwiches and salads. I highly recommend a visit here and investing in some of their excellent offerings.

Very nice

By Brandi B |

We arrived early on Sunday before the 12 opening time. We grab 2 rocking chairs and sat, overlooking the hills with a wonderful cool breeze (even in July). Very nice to relax. After we went in we enjoyed the different olive oils & balsamic vinegars! They have a bistro but we didn't stay to eat.

Very Cool Place

By WritenRide |

One of my favorite stops on our Austin trip! Learned a great deal about olives in general and the olive oil manufacturing business in Texas. Very interesting. Tour was lead by one of the owners. Samples to taste, small cafe, and more. Lots of wonderful products to purchase.

EXCELLENT customer service

By Irene02_2013 |

My husband and I made a road trip to visit this business last weekend. We arrived too late for either tour, but enjoyed a delicious lunch in the bistro restaurant. Prices were quite reasonable. All the staff was so attentive and friendly from the moment we entered until we left. They have lots of different oil and vinegar varieties. We purchased two olive oils and a balsamic vinegar on our way out. All are delicious and will definitely order from them by mail in the future. The facility is smaller than we thought it would be, but that is the only negative comment.

Texas Olive Oil Tour

By Sabra B |

We took the Texas Olive Oil Orchard tour recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner of the company was our tour guide and it was easy to see how passionate he is about olive oil! Learned a lot of useful information about olive oil and how important it is to purchase the real stuff. We didn't eat at the restaurant but heard good things about it. Did try some gelato made with olive oil...yum! Try to make this a stop when you're in the Texas Hill Country.

Very nice tasting room

By texasjulie |

Tried their olive oil at a local business, and decided to work in a visit on the way home from vacation. Nice scenic drive. They were having a wine tasting also that day, and were very generous with the pours! Fortunately, I was not driving. My kids, who are quite picky, loved the oils and the basalmic vinegars. They make the bread for the tastings too. They import the vinegars, but make the oil. They were very patient with the kids in our group also. It had apparently rained some either earlier or the day before, so the ground was too wet for a tour in the grove, but they had a few planted along the fence that we could examine. I was a little disappointed that they did not explain a little more about how the pressings work, etc.

A Nice Stop.

By RichFamily6 |

We were touring wineries in the area and stopped by. It was fun to taste the different vinegars and oils (white lemon was AH-mazing) in an inviting environment that was relaxed and not sales driven. People were available if you needed them, but not intrusive.

Wonderful staff!!

By Caitlyn H |

We tried almost every infused olive oil and balsamic vinegar combo they had and loved them all!!! The staff was very friendly and gave us great ideas on how to use the products at home and what to pair them with. Will definitely stop back through to get some more local goodies .

Worth the time

By Doug G |

A beautiful new building housing a relatively new enterprise. Basically a family owned and operated business of growing several varieties of olive trees, hand harvesting the olives and processing into olive oil. The tour is interesting but not much actual work being done unless you go in October or November. The sampling room offers the six different blends offered by Texas Hill Country Olives. They also offer balsamic vinegar but I never did learn where the balsamic vinegar comes from. We found a couple olive oils we liked plus the traditional balsamic vinegar. Three small bottles cost $59 so while it may be good, it comes at a stiff price.
Interesting and we had an enjoyable visit.

Sample, but don't tour

By JSL33 |

Fun to learn about olive oil and olive production in Texas. Great samples and products. But the hour and 45 minute tour (cost $6 per person) was at least an hour too long. We did buy some bottles of their locally made olive oil.

Award winning Texas olive oil

By pasherry |

Went on a tour of this family owned olive oil producer. The property is very nice, the tour is $6pp and is approximately 45min. You learn about the trees, how they harvest the olives and produce olive oil. They also make balsamic vinegar. They have tasting stations where you can really get a taste of the quality of the oil as well as the balsamic vinegar. There is also a cafe, wine tasting and a very nice gift shop. If you want pure, high quality olive oil, this is the place!

Missed the bus

By Kim T |

I did not realize that I scheduled this activity along with another that involved transportation. Upon checking in at Visitor Center I find that there is no transportation involved. This was not clear from the website. I am disappointed to have missed seeing this venue.

Great couple’s getaway

By lonurse |

Absolutely loved the surroundings, the cleanliness of the TIpi as well as all facilities. Highly recommend and will definitely
Be back.

Don't Miss Texas HIll Country Olive Company

By Sophi Z |

This wonderful organic olive orchard is where we stop on our way to Fredericksburg every spring. Free tastings with excellent snack and lunch options. Great olive oil products and excellent balsamic vinegars. Our favorites are white lemon balsamic and fig balsamic. These vinegars have inspired several recipes in my kitchen.

Interesting experience! Loved it!

By Wynnermath |

Excellent experience! Very informative; Owner even came and spoke to us! Tasting was interesting! Amazing how flavors infused into olive oil! Friendly, kind, helpful staff.
Comment: paths in olive yard NOT handicap accessible (large pebbles trap wheels)

Amazing Experience!: Food, History and Family

By Toni B |

My family is extremely picky when it comes to food, wine, service, etc. Let's just say we have high expectations. Our trip to the Texas Hill Country exceeded our expectations...from the great food and service to the owner, John giving a tour full of fun, history and tradition. This is a family owned business operated with integrity and love! I enjoyed it so much, I decided to reach out to Cara the VP of Bussiness Development to see if there were any opportunities for employment!

Cool....never been to olive oil company before

By Peggy C |

Touring the vineyards and stopped in. Interesting lady behind the tasting bar, kept us entertained the entire visit. She was cutting and putting out large bowls of fresh baked breads for tasting the oils and vinegars. Yum. We bought a couple of big bottles of the Texas Blend, and some of the lavender/olive oil soap (that soap smells so good, car smelled heavenly on the way home). There was locally made pottery for sale, I bought a olive oil bottle. Lots of fun......

Loved the Balsamic Vinegar choices

By Freewolf297 |

This is a beautiful location and an interesting place to visit. The olive oils are good but we really enjoyed the fruit flavored balsamic vinegars to mix with them. We took the route from Annie's Loft in Fredericksburg that goes through Pedernales Falls State Park to Fitzhugh road. This was a beautiful drive. There is a water crossing to drive through but it was shallow. I wouldn't recommend this route if it has been raining.

By steve m |

Very interesting tour. Guide was knowledgeable and engaging. We did the tasting at the end and that was very good as well. We split an amazing grilled cheese sandwich from their bistro after the tour that was absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend the experience!

Beautiful Place

By Meredith G |

Stopped by for a tasking and some olive oils. They offer wine tasting as well. Very nice people and they have a little bistro area where you can have a patio lunch.

Loved this place!

By Anothercarride |

We weren't sure what to expect but we all enjoyed the Olive company. They have sample inside where you can try their olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Their olive oil is top notch and their homemade soaps are as well.

A Must See

By Barneyboy53 |

We stopped in at 10 minutes before opening and were warmly received. The product is a must and we spent way to much. Can't go wrong with home grown olive oil.

Hidden gem: Olive tour, samples and food

By Deepa T |

We were trying to find something to do after we went to Pedernales falls, and we found this through searching online. We did the tour with kids ageing from 3yrs-13yrs, they kids enjoyed it. The 3yrs old got bored after a while, but I mean he is 3 after all. The owner gave us the tour, talked about the history of olive oil, and showed us how olive oil is made, and gave a tour of the farm. We found the tour to very educational.

We also ate at the cafe they have there, the food is AMAZING, we tried the pizza, brochette, and grilled cheese. Everything tasted amazing. Our group also enjoyed a pitcher of mimosa. We also got chocolate and goat milk with cherry gelato which were both delicious. You can add flavored olive oil to the ice cream and it was amazing. For the goat milk ice cream we recommend balsamic oil. The dishes were $12 each, but the quality of the food was really good. The kids also got these giant chocolate chip cookies which were so soft and amazing as well.

There is plenty of free samples for different flavored olive oil there with bread to dip.

The only things I wish they would add is that after our tour if we had samples of the different flavors of olive oil and if the tour guide (owner for us) explained why and how they got the flavors the got. The lady behind the counter is always open to telling you about the flavors and oils, but she is also very busy with customers waiting to order.

Overall, we really liked this place, would deferentially recommended this to anyone.else.

Texas Hill Country Olive Company.

By Mark K |

Great place. Great people. We would go again. Put this place on your bucket list. Great tour by the owner. They make superb Olive oils and wine.

Very interesting

By David H |

We went to the Texas Olive Company yesterday and did the tour. Our tour guide was the owner who provided a wealth of information in a short period of time. The tour included a walk into the orchard and then, the mill where the olive oil is produced. It was all very interesting. There is also a tasting room where you can try their products including olive oils and balsamic vinegars (all the ones I tasted were delicious). It all made for a very nice outing.

Surprise in the hill country

By MycornerofTexas |

Loved the variety of different olive oils and the ability to sample before you buy. The olive oil may be a bit on they pricey side but the quality makes it worth the price.

Missed Opportunity

By Connie M |

We sent an email to request tour reservations, but received no reply. Because of that we just went in person about 30 minutes ahead of time to inquire in person. Unfortunately the tour was canceled because of new equipment installation. We walked around the gift shop and looked out over the trees. I think it would have been fun, but we were only in town for that afternoon. Several other events at other venues were clearly listed on their website as closed because of the pandemic or other situations. It would have been nice to have a heads up.

Nice looking place, but that's where it ends.

By slmnsam |

We were very excited to visit this Olive Ranch to taste and purchase some Texas Olive Oil. The service was non-existent and what reminded us of California driving up, became a major disappointment. We drove 45 minutes and left with nothing. Too bad, it seemed well planned out, but upon entering the building....major letdown.

Great lunch stop, will do your next time

By foemmel |

Looking for a place to grab lunch in the area, this came up and I read about the pitchers of sangria, hooked! We had bruschetta, charcuterie sangria and cherry goat cheese ice cream. Great atmosphere where you can see the kitchen. Cute store and sampling room with yummy things. Can’t wait to go back again and do the tour. The experience taught me that I like olives!

A Nice play for a tour plus lunch

By Joann B |

The tour of the olive groves plus the explanation of the various types of oil and vinegar, which they bottle on site, was extremely enlightening. The lunch afterwards where we could try out the dressings on our salad was a lot of fun.

Great Little Lunch Spot

By Rick B |

We dropped in to grab lunch, and were greeted and ushered into an olive oil tasting. What a treat! We loved the olive oils and the lunch. Stop in and experience it!

very interesting!

By Kate Beard |

We enjoyed our tour here that was very informative. We had the whole family with us and while most kids might be bored, ours asked a bunch of questions and was quite entertained. Very nice for a taste of culture and olive oil. Would definitely return!

Great stop on the way to Johnson City

By Toni Ugueto |

We have bought Texas Hill Country olive oil and flavored balsamic vinegar at the farmers market in Houston. We saw their sign driving through Dripping Springs and decided to stop. So glad we did! There is a fully stocked shop with a variety of oil oil products, including

absolutely fantastic

By Poonam P |

Perfect for those who love to learn and something different to do. The owner gave us the tour and could see his passion of sharing his Italian heritage of cooking with the freshest ingredients. Great for foodies!

Great experience. Accurate info on tour!

By Kara M |

You need to go here and try these oils. Stop eating all the fake imports in HEB and get some real food that’s also local. Bonus! It really doesn’t get better than this orchard. I loved it.

Excellent Trou

By Connie D |

The tour we took lasted 1.5 hours and was really fascinating. I wouldn't recommend this for young children but for adults, it was a great tour. The owner doesn't always do the tours but John Gambini did give our tour and he is a great spokesperson for the Texas Olive industry. Did you know that many of the olive oils on your grocery store shelves that say "extra Virgin" olive oil on the label are often really NOT EVOO? And what makes an olive oil "extra virgin"? You'll have to take the tour to find out (or visit their website). Their products have won international prizes and are well worth the price.

Look no further for olive oil

By D C |

We were out for a drive checking out the hill country and looking for a quick stop. Big fans of olive oil so this fit the bill. Friendly staff greeted us and gave us directions on oil and balsamic tasting. If you are a foodie, I would give it a try. The different oils were delicious. We had a hard time narrowing down our choices to three. Other kitchen and olive oil products. We didn’t go on the tour so can’t speak to that.

By Douglas M |

Nice experience! Interesting and informative tour! Pretty orchard! Olive oil and balsamic tasting delicious!

VERY interesting tour and tasting!

By auvoir |

Did not know what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed our stop here. The tour was fascinating, really learned a lot about the production of olive oil and balsamic vinegar, too. They invite you to sample all their products, hard to make decisions! We really enjoyed the goat cheese ice cream, too. Look forward to returning there again for more oils! And their gift shop is great, too!

... but he did it without breaking stride. John (the owner) was a terrific guide —informative, entertaining, and intelligent. He answered all our questions, and with his knowledge of the historical perspective, we gained an appreciation of the olive oil business that was unique and fun. We had a great time, and lunch was delicious.

Tasty Samples

By wmld3 |

Very nice place to visit. You can sample a variety of olive oils (6) and balsamic vinegars. They have a nice selection of flavors. This place is pricey... A bottle of flavored balsamic (so good) is $18 for a 250 ml. The olive oil is not cheap either. We thought they would have olives to taste or purchase and they do not.

Beautiful

By Ruth E |

We stopped on our way home from a Fredericksburg weekend. The location is beautiful and the oils were tasty. Beautiful views.

I love this place! Such a beautiful location and such wonderful products. It's great to take the tour and see how olive oil is made. The little Cafe has delicious food and yummy ice cream - balsamic ice cream, TRY IT!!
The olive oil is the best!

Surprise Birthday trip with friends

By Steve B |

This a must visit anytime you are out and about in the Hillcountry.I will say every team memeber was helpful and professional starting with the first person that greeted us. This was our first stop of the day, we enjoyed and learned a great deal from our wonderful tour spokes lady Sherri she was interesting and very knowlegable. Our tastings, lunch and beverages in the Bistro were very delicious after our tour. We joined the Oilve Oil Club and are looking forward to the November pick event. Fun was had by all.

very infomative

By Kate Beard |

Very informative and interesting. Got quite crowded towards the end though. Was a unique way to learn about olive oil as well.

Fun and tasty

By BEETOO |

We visited here in January and have been before. We had family with us and definitely wanted them to see this place. In addition to wonderful olive oil, they have very tasty balsamic vinegars in many flavors. We love to stop and purchase some items.

great way to spend several hours!

By doug michele o |

So appreciated learning about real olive oil & joining the quarterly club. I now use the olive oil I purchased from them daily, and will take a swig every now and then.

Cool place

By M J |

My Husband and I went to Texas Hill Country Olive Company on a late Saturday afternoon. Their staff is very friendly and helpful. We were offered samples to try while we were there. Yummy. They have a restaurant and store as well. We were too late for a tour but we plan to do that on our next visit. Recommended.

Fun

By kathy M |

Tour was informative. I tried to purchase a loaf of bread 🥖 from the ones used in the cafe. No sale. Next time I will call in advance to purchase one.

Free Tastings

By djv2006 |

We enjoyed this olive company. You have free tastings of their different olive oils and balsamic vinegars. It was a nice surprise near some wineries, so it gave us something fun and different to do. They also have an area where you can buy tasty pizzas and sandwiches.

Not right!

Informative but expected more

Due to the reviews I expected an incredible tour. The guide was very informative but we couldn't tour the orchard and the production process was only explained. A Little dull for my taste.

Texas Olive Oil Industry Orchard Tour

By Sherridan S |

This tour of the orchard and processing facility was an interesting and enjoyable experience. The owners sucess story was an inspiration. We visited with another couple on a five day trip in the Hill Country of Texas. We stayed after the tour for lunch in their bistro, and purchased oiive oil and balsamic vinegar from their store. This experience was one of the highlights of our trip.

Olive tour and lunch

By Mike H |

The best tour I’ve taken. The history of olives was awesome and the passion of the owner for the industry and doing things ethically correct was exuberant. The food in the bistro was excellent.

Interesting and fun experience at a family owned orchard

By Kathryn H |

Nice way to spend a few hours. There are also several wineries nearby so you can hit one or two of those before or after the visit to the olive orchard.

By CCPTEXAS |

Friendly and helpful staff!! More flavors of olive oil and balsamic vinegar than I have ever seen! Samples were available as well!

Pleasant day trip from Austin

By Michelle F |

We took my boyfriend's parents here for the day--it's a nice drive from Austin. The gift shop is the main attraction where they sell all their oils, vinegars, and other local products. There's a cafe with sandwiches, small plates, drinks and wine (and the food is excellent!).

I would save the $6 on the tour, because it's not much of a tour -- about a 30 minute presentation with one stop in the olive grove and one stop in their warehouse.

Beautiful facility & orchard, average tour

By KRichTx |

The facility is gorgeous—like something from Tuscany—and the olive orchard is lovely. The tour was just so-so. Our tour guide was very nice and friendly, but not at all knowledgeable. In my opinion, if you’re going to charge for a tour, the audience shouldn’t have to hear, “That’s a great question, and I just don’t know the answer” more than once or twice. Also, while we got to see the machines on the tour, there was no production going on, so if you go, just know that you’re not going to see olive oil being made.

Best of the best

By Sharon F |

This was our second time to visit, so we did not do another olive oil tasting. We needed to stock up on all of their wonderful olive oils, olives, bread, and balsamic vinegar. My entire family enjoys everything I purchase from here. It’s always always fresh and genuine made and grown in the USA. Best of the best olive oil!

Wonderful Products--Beautiful Grounds

By rdahl |

THCOC has wonderful olive oil and vinegars. They also have a nice selection of wines, and offer cheese/meat trays for a light snack while enjoying the views and tasting oils and vinegars. A Great place to visit.

Olive's in Texas, who knew

By aggietraveler1976 |

If you want a break from doing the wine tour, this is a good place. it is a little out of the way but they try to give you a good experience. I believe some of the vinegar's are pretty tasty and we liked the Olive Oil but if you are expecting Italian, don't. This Oil has it's own distinct flavor and should be treated as an addition not a replacement it's Italian cousin. Enjoy.

Beautiful location, excellent staff and drinks!

By Rachael M |

What a fun way to spend an hour or 2! My husband and I did a tour on a recent weekend getaway. The staff is very friendly and extremely knowledgable! (We were greeted by the owner upon our arrival.) The tour was great! The sangrias (we tried both varieties) were very, very tasty - we will definitely allow enough time to eat there on our next visit!!

Revisit but first time on tour

By L H |

We had been to this venue before but never had done the tour so went specifically for that. This location is easy to find and has a large paved parking lot.
Everything is a Tuscan design and feel.
When we arrived we were greeted quickly and offered food, drink and such while we waited for the tour to begin.
We just checked out the gift shop which carries samples of a variety of flavored olive oils and related items.
We did feel the lady at the counter didn't need to try so hard to up sell products in suggesting several times to shop, eat or get a drink while we waited for the tour to begin and seemed a little put out that we didn't order or buy something. But this was the only thing about the entire visit that we didn't enjoy.
They have two restrooms in the gift shop area.
They also have a lovely inside dining bistro area that overlooks the orchards and has a nice varied but limited menu. We did not eat here this time but have in past and food was very good.
You can also enjoy wine here as well and take it on the tour with you if you like.
The tickets provide you with a tour and lots of information regarding the olive industry.
First part of the tour was in a large room with a talk on the history of the business and olives.
Then a short walk out to the orchard entrance and stand for more information on the trees and harvesting.
Lastly back to the building and you get to go in the back mill to see how they process the olives into oil.
Our guide was very friendly and she handled the tour professionally and answered any and all questions asked of her.
They offer three tour times on Fridays and Saturdays and you can purchase tickets and book online. The tour was 90 min. long and very enjoyable, relaxing and interesting information.
If you are visiting this area be sure to check this venue out and it is also conveniently located between several wineries so you can make a day of it.
All areas were meticulously maintained and a lovely venue.

Olive oil fan? Check it out!

By Kevin-GoBears |

My wife and I use a lot of olive oil, so this was an interesting tour for us. Tasting room had all of their oils and balsamic vinegars available for sampling. They do make some good stuff! Tour was interesting as well. They have a small cafe with food available which was good.

Outstanding Tour!

By Charleytoo |

We were lucky enough to get the owner, John, as a tour guide. He's so knowledgeable and gave us tons of information in all the areas we visited -- orchard, processing mill, etc. He made the tour most interesting. Highly recommend it!

Great tour, great olive oil!

By 551melm |

It's about an hour drive from North Austin, making this a lovely day trip. Driving the last 11 windy miles was half the fun. We had already bought their olive oil at the Lakeline Farmers Market in Austin and wanted to visit the ranch. The tour started with the history of olive oil in general and in the US, and a discussion of its many health benefits. We then went out into the olive grove and finally finished up in the store. We tasted 5 distinct different olive oils. They also sell balsamic vinegar, both plain and flavor infused, which is actually grown in Italy. We had lunch afterwards. The menu was simple but good, and the prices were reasonable.

Olive Company highlight of our trip

By Voyage649006 |

We did the tour provided by the Owner and it was so worth the 1 hour and 30 minutes. He was very informative and made it fun.

Excellent and informative, a very nice experience!

By Bolivar L |

We enjoyed both the information shared about the olive industry as well as the history of the Orchard and business. The olive oil was fantastic to boot! We will be return visitors.

No ambiance!

By houstonnative47 |

The woman at the front desk seemed irritated that 8 of us came for a visit on a recent Saturday. She kind of barked at us if we wanted the 1:00 tour as we were 1-1/2 hours early for it. We didn't even know about it! And she didn't explain it either! We kind of stumbled around the small room which also had a wine tasting area. Have no idea about that. It was not suggested either! Great way to treat customers!

Very nice touring place

By jusetravel |

The tour was very informative. Social distance and masks are required. We had lunch there and the food was very tasty.

Nice Sunday Afternoon Discovering the Hill Country

By Gemini148 |

Interesting twist and break from the wineries nearby. Enjoyed learning more about olives and enjoying the setting. Worth stopping by to taste and shop.

Worth the Drive!

By Keith L |

Approximately 25 miles from Austin, Texas on W Fitzhugh Road near Dripping Springs, Texas is a wonderful place to a visit and spend time finding out about the olive business and sampling wonderful blends of oils and balsamic vinegars. My personal favorite was the Blackberry Balsamic Vinegar.
Located right in the Hill Country, it is a beautiful drive in the country. You top a ridge here is this beautiful building set all alone on the edge of an olive grove. It is definitely worth the time to make the drive

Tasting

By Ray02rodriguez |

Family visit to olive company. Friendly staff from the get go. We liked the basil flavored oil. They have a gift shop and reasonably priced items.
Wine tasting is $2. Or $7 a glass. Most wine sweet white wine.

Worth the drive

By Well_travelled_imp |

We had lunch here on our day in the Hill Country. Great food, a huge range of infused oils, and balsamics. You can take with you or order on line.

Another Treasure in the Texas Hill Country

By Ann H |

Dallas resident here; I wanted to send a gift to expat
family members in California that said, “Texas loves you!”, and came across this online olive oil/balsamic vinegar company near Austin. The website has intriguing stories and I decided to personally visit and tour the place.
My husband and I enjoyed the entire experience; the friendliness of the owners and staff, the knowledge they freely shared of their crafts, and most of all, the quality of the products showed us we have a treasured place to bring friends and family in the beautiful hill country of Texas.
There is a bountiful tasting room, fresh baked artisan breads, a sizable menu and free roam of the olive grove until closing time. All the olive oil sold here is harvested and pressed here, also. The co-owner personally mingles with the visitors and the tour guide we had, Laura, generously shares all her knowledge as she fields questions until the tour group’s curiosity is satisfied and ready for tasting.
We even met people from other countries and across the United States who wanted to see how Texas does this industry.
The next budding will begin in a couple months, but anytime of year is perfect to visit.

Learned a lot

By NanaMarlin |

Very interesting tour conducted by the owner. He spent over 1 1/2 hrs. with a small group explaining his startup, tree growing and history. He also delved into how to be aware, as a consumer, of the market for EVO Olive Oll. It was interesting and enlightening though a bit too long on uncomfortable chairs. We did go out to the orchard and received a very good explanation of the milling process in his mill. We didn’t have lunch there in the very small cafe but, after looking at the food coming out, wish we had preordered lunch. Looked yummy.

Great information and tasting

By maggiet0813 |

They have 3-4 tours a day. Tour is $6. There is a lot of information and very interesting. They take you to the orchard and the production area. There is a gift shop where you can also taste all the different types of olive oils they produce. They also serve wine, sangria, beer, mimosas. And they also have a bistro where you can eat. I had a margarita pizza and it was very good. There is free parking and you can also buy trees.

By Chella G |

I haven't been to their vineyard, but I received a lovely ex virgin oil & vinegar set as a gift and the quality was excellent. They also have olive trees that you can adopt!

Tasty Olive Oil

By Elksmommy |

A very informative tour and an even better olive oil tasting. I purchased several that I enjoyed and have been cooking with them since my visit. Yummy!

Great visit if you like olive oil

By TexasNorm |

We stopped here because we love olive oil. Unfortunately, they don't offer tours during the weekdays (we knew this). The woman helping us was great. She explained all the oils and how they are processed. Then she showed us the tasting bar. Amazing how different olive oils taste. It's just like wine, they all have their different aromas and flavors. We bought a few bottles and then decided to have a light lunch in their cafe. They have sandwiches and such. My wife and I decided on the meat/cheese plate with their doctored up kettle chips. The food was very good. If you're tired of wine tasting (is that possible?) then try the olive oil tasting. When you do the olive oil tasting get youself a glass of water. Drink some water between the oil tastings.

Nice stop on a beautiful drive north of Dripping Springs

By 1234texas |

The olive stop is a nice break after a beautiful drive from Johnson City to Dripping Springs. The drive is a "must see" drive--one of the best in Texas because of the long views and the wildflowers.

This stop is a chance to get a little wine and enjoy a very nice environment.

Madi was Great!

By Jeffrey W |

Thank you so much for showing us around and teaching us more about Texas Hill country olive company! The olive oil's and olives were amazing we had such a great time eating cheese and meats and listening to how all the ball sonic vinegar's are made. Thank you so much for a great time

Hill Country Friendly Finds

By DBPatrick |

If you haven't noticed olive oils are the new wine venue and there is no better place when looking for a relaxing and friendly place with the culinary dexterity of oil than right outside of Austin and North of Dripping Springs, TX. at the Texas Hill Country Olive Oil Company. They accommodate one person as well as groups with the down home welcome and product knowledge you would expect from the big city folks. The paring of the cheeses and meats with wine and of course the ability to mix and match flavors of great quality olive oil with the many flavors of balsamic vinegar on hand make this a unique experience. No telling what they might serve you at each visit. Be prepared to stay a while as it will be an enjoyable side trip.

Very good

By Gabriel P |

Great staff and great location. I was really surprised with all the great flavors of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The balsamic was so good you could actually sip it. The only problem we had was deciding what flavors to buy.

A passion for Great Olive Oil

By Harvey H |

We had a great tour with John who gave an impassioned tour taking you from the history of olive oil through his establishment of his orchard and production facility. The tour really takes about 90 minutes and is well worth the time. We would recommend to go for the early tour and then have lunch or eat and then go for the tour. The food is excellent and is complimented by the wine. It was a fun time sampling the different olive oils and balsamic vinegars available for sale. You can definitely taste the quality.

Interesting, but not much to do

By Holly N |

Had tickets for a tour but traffic in SA made us miss it. When we arrived to walk around, the small shop/restaurant area was SUPER crowded and employees seemed more eager to push people to dine in the restaurant than talk about their product.

Not a whole lot to do if you're not on a tour, we walked around the olive trees for a bit but other than that there's not much to see.

Enthusiastic Olive Oil Production

By mojomo |

We thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday afternoon visit to the Texas Hill Country Olive Company in Dripping Springs.

We drove from Sugar Land, through Austin to Dripping Springs which is known as the gateway to the Texas Hill Country.

The place was a little of the beaten path, but that was right where we wanted to be.
Driving from Sugar Land, thru Austin to Dripping Springs, we encountered
Very Texas weather on our visit. By the time we arrived in the afternoon, it had turned drizzly and grey.

Never fear! Although the weather, which was the preface to a rainy front on Sunday, was not ideal; we were warmly welcomed and assured there was time for lunch, before the last tour of the day.

Beside the rows of lovely silvery undersided leaved olive trees, we entered a stone building that houses along with the works of the mill that produce the final products, a gift shop and cafe.

Although the atmosphere and hospitality of the employees was wonderful, the lunch we had was lacking. This could be greatly improved upon. Perhaps by incorporating olives into the meal?

This was more than made up for by the very enthusiastic owner John Gambini and our tour.

We were given a history lesson of olive oil and all its magnificent health benefits.

It was not olive season, so alas, although the different types of trees were shown to us, we were not able to see the olives or witness the processing that goes on to produce the final product.

Mr. Gambini did however explain it all in depth and show us the machinery involved. Explaining that this company produces an organic extra virgin olive oil and all that this entails. Along with all the health benefits we can reap from this amazing product.

All very interesting!

I purchased , along with a bottle of Sola Stella (Lone Star) award winning extra virgin olive oil, some wonderful soaps and a body lotion, all containing olive oil.

They serve a house made gelato that is healthier for you because it too incorporates olive oil, was delicious. Try the goat cheese cherry flavor!

Thanks to Mr. Gambini for educating us about your wonderful product!

Lunch and tour included is $16. Tour alone is $6. The tour is offered four times a day.

Rachel Ray would be proud.

By Niki C |

Beautiful space. The oils and vinegars are wonderful, but a bit overwhelming to sample all at once. They do cooking demos and classes. Will try and do that next time! They have a small tasting selection of some of the best Texas wines. Any Messinah Hoff wine is my recommendation to you there. They also have the best of the cheese and meat plates of the wineries we visited in the area. The girls who worked there were sweet and very helpful.

YUM! Best olive tour and tasting

By melodyhenriks |

YUM! Best olive tour and tasting I've ever experienced! Almost did not sign up for the tasting afterward - based on prior experiences at other places - it is well worth the extra $10. Note it is not included with the standard ticket purchase due to COVID restrictions. The inside olive oil processing tour/lecture is extensive and it will clarify any confusion you may have previously had over which bottle of oil olive to purchase. (Not recommended for young children - it will be lost on them.)

Great customer service

By Khakisnflops |

Awesome place. Great oils and vinegars to sample. Wine from regional TX vineyards to sample. Staff is excellent and full of info. Worth the stop on the way to area wineries.

Nice place good gift shop

By Bryan L |

The tasting was very good their olive oil and balsamic vinegars are really good the gift shop is nice and although we didn't eat the little cafe looked like it had good sandwiches and mimosas.

"Something Different"

By EddyReimer |

My wife & I decided to check this place out in the middle of wine tasting, on a Saturday afternoon. These people are experts on olive oil, & they have many different flavor infused olive oils to combine or sample. They also have soup mixes to sample, & yes you can even sample some wine here. It was a good way to mix it up when you are touring wineries the whole weekend.

Italy in the Hill Country

A nice place to stop if you like olive oil, and a change of pace if you're on a hill country wine tour. Fairly laid back folks run the place and are happy to show you around and let you sample their wares.

Stopped in briefly to see what it was all about. The lunches we saw looked wonderful- were so sorry we had just eaten.

They had many different flavored extra virgin olive oils and balsamic you can sample and buy.

Texas made Olive oil

By John L |

Until my wife started looking for places to go on our trip to Waco. I never even knew we had an olive oil company in Texas. We stopped in because we love olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We tried the samples and ended up leaving with even more; olive oil soap, lotion, lip balm and wine tasting.
We had a great time and hope everyone greets a chance to try it. It's way out in the country but will with the drive.
We did not try the Bistro because we just had breakfast but the menu looked well layed out and we will try it on the way home.
Tasted the red wines and was absolutely surprised. Try it yourselfand you make the call. Also has a tour of the plantation.

Informative

By Veronica And Dan Beaudoin |

We learned so much about olive oil. We enjoyed every aspect of the tour and then had the pleasure of eating lunch in the bistro. Tremendous! We will definitely come again. Vee and Dan.

Pleasant Unplanned Stop

By L H |

We were touring wineries in the area and happened past this business. Actually saw a sign that said "tastings" and thought it was a winery not on my list. But when I saw it was an olive company I thought they might be doing samples of actual olives. Actually they have samples of different unique flavored olive oils that you can drizzle on bread pieces. They did though have wine tastings at $1 a taste which worked out well as there were only 3 of the 6 or so so wines that we wanted to sample. In one area where they have items to purchase they were sampling salsa too. There were tables to sit at and you could peruse the different oils for sale. The other room also had tables and looked to be serving food but did not get this explained and didn't ask:) The lady that assisted us with the wine tasting was not pushy at all and very pleasant. Mentioned she was from Russia. We didn't buy any wine or oil but settled on some natural Apple Butter for a gift for someone. The place is very clean with ample parking and there was also outside covered seating on side. They allowed us to bring our small, leashed dog inside, which we appreciated. There were quite a few people browsing and tasting. Glad we saw this in time to stop in and visit.

Wonderful staff, products, and view.

By Manley J |

Great property. Reminded me of Napa. Very helpful staff and informative about their products. Don't miss this.

Fabulous tour!

By Debbie495 |

Excellent tour. The owner gave the tour. He is very knowledgeable about olive oil and very passionate about the business. Everyone there was very friendly. I was having a problem with my knee that day and they made sure that chairs were put out along the way so that I could sit part of the time. They also have a store and restaurant. I had ice cream made with EVOO. Interesting. You can taste the varieties of olive oil and balsamic vinegar that they sell. The weather was a bit misty the day we were there so he did not have us stay outside too long. The location is a bit of a ride from Austin. It took us about 50 minutes to get there though it was a nice ride and we were happy to get out of the city for a while. The tour itself took about an hour.

By R Tony Smith |

Definitely recommend if you’re in the Austin area! Get the Antipasto Salad paired with a BOTTLE of Texiante — a great red blend that pairs well with not only the salad & olives but all the amazing olive oils!

Something not on the menu… request an olive oil tasting — they’ll provide a flight of olive oils + pro-tips on how to be an instant olive oil connoisseur! My fave is Millers Blend! TexasHillCountryOliveCo.com

Took the tour on our first trip.

By Winsur4 |

We have been Olive Oil fans for years. We took the tour as a drop in after hiking near Dripping Springs. We are now frequent visitors and purchase all our Olive Oil from The Texas Olive Company. The tour was informative, and fun to take.

EXCELLENT!

By WeNation |

Texas Hill Country Olive Company is an incredible restaurant and gift shop located on a high terrace along a long a winding road outside Dripping Springs. The short travel is worth the effort. My family and I explored an educational journey through a flight of four different olive oils bottled on the premises. DELICIOUS! Before this excursion, we didn't realize the distinct differences between different oils. We also enjoyed a variety of olives and wonderful artisan bread as we snacked during our mid-afternoon tour. The staff was so friendly and informational. They took their time explaining the nuances of this olive orchard and mill. The best thing is that we were able to bring home some delicious olive oil to enjoy and remember our charming experience.

Extraordinary & #1

By OneThingWay |

My wife and i visited this olive oil producer located in the heart of Texas hill country in late April as part of my birthday celebration. I had such a good time learning about olive oil production actually around the world. Most importantly this olive orchard is ranking right up there and competing with the best. What a great operation. The owner and tour guide was so informative about pure virgin olive oil around the world and here in Texas this olive oil produced is award winning. Really! The tour was fantastic, the owner exceptional and I would not pass this up folks! Top shelf all around!!

Great Food

By msmarias515 |

Great food and fun place. Clean, refreshing. It is isolated but worth stopping to visit. Glad we went.

This is always a fun stop!

By MamaYurko |

We are fortunate to live very close to Texas Hill Country Olive Company and visit it regularly. We have never had a bad experience. First of all, the olive oil is delicious and comes in so many flavors. All of these can be tasted using their homemade bread. So yummy! You also have the option to do a wine tasting of local hill country wines. Again, what fun is this! On weekends we have also stumbled into special occasions where they have offered music and cheeseburgers on the lovely patio and/or a mini-farmers market with fresh vegetable for sale.
This is a great place to visit whether you're a local or visitor from out of state. The atmosphere is relaxing and you can come home with great olive oil, wine and gifts. Definitely worth the trip. p.s. Try the pineapple olive oil. Who knew that it could be so tasty just plain on a salad?

gotta try the olive oil and vinegars!

By TXCathy |

Beautiful building nestled in the hill country, wine, beer bar, delicious olive oils and vinegars for sale. Shop for lovely gifts. Gorgeous outside patio to gather overlooking the olive orchard!

Great products

By Robert B |

I've never done the tour although I'm sure it's nice. The people inside are extremely knowledgeable about their product and describe the olive oil like vintners describe wine. Personally, I can't detect all the subtle nuances they describe but back when I drank wine regularly I couldn't pick up the "notes of this" and "subtleties of that" that many sommeliers and others told me a wine possessed.

Nevertheless, the oils are different but it's more from a strength point with some being more suited for those who like a strong olive oil flavor with others being less so.

Their vinegars are also exceptional. My wife and I are particularly fond of the Lemon but we tries the fig and the blueberry this trip and they were exceptional as well, although you would have to be careful in what dish you choose to use those flavors. The lemon is perfect for splashing on fish, for a vinegarrette, and particularly good on a Caprese Salad (tomatoes, mozzarella slices, and basil).

The prices are high, but not ridiculously so when you compare with buying other brands of similar quality and you must consider that you won't need to use as much because of the intense flavors.

Frequent visitors!

We visit about twice a year to stock up on olive oil and flavored vinegar's. I just need to cook more with what I buy!!! Always a nice stop and very friendly staff.

Oil grove in hill country

Lovely oil press of stone here, expensive hand filled olive oil sold here. Nice day trip from Austin.

Surprisingly Great!

By LaDonna A |

We loved the lemon balsamic vinaigrette so much that we purchased a bottle to take home. There’s so many good things here. It was hard to make up my mind and I could’ve bought one of everything. You can also eat lunch at this facility.

Our host shared with us the process in history of the farm.

By June O |

The were very nice and informative about their products. There have 16 acres of olive trees. 6 types of olive oil, several varieties of balsamic vinegar. You can taste them all. They have Texas wine tasting, $1 a taste, and snack type food that you can order.

A definite must go to place so close to Austin.

By JCAPO85 |

We were pleasantly greeted and their process was explained as to what set them apart from other olive oil producers. There were several tasting stations around the immaculate facility that included several California blends to compare. They also offer a variety of wines and flavored vinigars.

For olive oil lovers!

By Jeffrey H |

The orchard is an easy 30 minute or so drive from downtown Austin. We missed the tours but purchased a picnic lunch that was excellent and we dined in the orchard underneath a huge oak tree with a picnic table. Even on the 90+ degree day we were there the shade and breeze kept us cool as we enjoyed the beautiful scenery and lunch. The trees unfortunately were killed during the February 2021 Winter storm. We were told they have another orchard and will be able to continue processing olive oil until the Dripping Springs orchard gets up and running again. Numerous types of both olive oil and balsamic vinegar available for purchase and we definitely blew our budget as so many great ones to choose from

Great olive oil company and awesome setting

By Chris H |

The staff William and Maddie were super friendly and very knowledgable of the products being offered. Thomas the chef was great as we ordered the bruschetta and the eat and cheese plate. We also got the Pineapple Sangria and of course bought a couple bottles of olive oil to take home with us!!

Such a wonderful experience

We absolutely fell in love with all the balsamic vinegar as they were so wonderful. We also had to gelato that was to die for. The cheese plates were absolutely most delectable they had an apricot cheese that was probably the most scrumptious skeetstatic cheese I've had in my life. The ambience was so beautiful and all of our friends and wonderful time!

Fantastic outing!

By bk_aus |

We’re from Austin and had passed by Hill Country Olive Oil several times in the past, telling ourselves one day we’ll stop. Well, yesterday was the day and we were so glad we finally did!

From the moment we arrived our expectations were exceeded. John, one of the owners, welcomed us as we arrived. We opted to take the $6 tour and coming from someone who often gets a tad bored with tours, this one was engaging the whole way through. John was an excellent tour guide - packing in loads of knowledge about olive trees, history of olive oil, the oil extraction process - and all with a welcoming, engaging personality. Tour lasted close to an hour.

We stayed and had a little food at the cafe - meatballs were excellent. And of course sampled all the olive oils and came home with a couple bottles.

All in all - highly recommend visiting!

Come for Tour AND Stay for the Food!

By James L |

This was our second tour, but we brought a visitor who came all the way from Norway. The weather precluded going out in the olive tree orchard, but the lecture was a treat. We were fortunate to have the owner, John Gambini, give the lecture and tour of the pressing room. He is a always informative. The food is excellent. Order before the the tour so it will be ready for you. The gift shop is a real treat. So many olive oils and balsamic vinegars to sample. While pricey, you will not be disappointed by the taste and quality of each. Once you start using the both you'll never use anything else! The only thing missing from the regular tour is a more in depth walk or guided drive through the orchard - not just standing at the edge.

Special place near Austin

By tntraveler003 |

The owner, full of knowledge and dedication, led the olive tree history and harvest talk. Having seen the vast olive groves in Italy and Spain, we were happy to see that olives are now grown in Texas. The samples at the end of the tour were a real treat.

The restaurant and gift shop got very crowded around Noon so try to avoid that time if possible.

Excellent place

By Lynda K |

Everyone was very friendly and loved the tour explaining how olive oil is grown and processed. Learned so much. Now I will always buy Olive oil there.

Bustling olive orchard

By AKzoom |

Go hungry as their café offers excellent selections. Nice gift shop. Venture on a short tour to learn details about olive oil- the details can provide tips on how you make better olive oil selections.

Quite nice

By Emily E |

There's a bistro as well as the gift shop. We tasted all the oils and vinegars, bought some of the garlic infused oil. We enjoyed it!

Farming for Olive Oil

By pdSixty8 |

In searching for hidden places to visit in Dripping Springs I found this site. I did not know there was an olive farm out here, so I had to visit this place.

I drove up Fitzhugh Road in an area resembling Italian countryside and then see it it up ahead. Building has Italian architecture to it and from the parking lot you can see the rows and rows of olive trees growing. Apparently they are 10 years old and they grow different varieties. The olives from these trees are not the edible ones but breed for their oil.

I walk inside and see a very nice setup similar to a winery. A gift shop on one side, olive oil tasting/checkout in middle, and cafe on the other. There were others in here but able to move around. The gift shop even sold items made out of olive oil like soap. The olive oil taste testing included flavored oils like peach and strawberry. They were all good. I decide to purchase a bottle of extra virgin.

They also sell fresh bread of which I also bought sour dough to enjoy with my oil. They sell wine from a local winery, so I did a wine testing where the white was good and the red was alright.

They do tours but decided to do it at a later date. The cafe is looks pretty cool and will return to enjoy their lunch here. It is just really nice place to visit and explore.

As for the my purchase the both the bread and extra virgin olive oil tasted very good. It great to have this place so close to my home and definitely a tourist attraction for anyone visiting Austin. And best part it is all Texas local.

Great Experience

By GardenLady13 |

This is a wonderful tour. You learn a lot about olive oil that you thought you knew but really didn’t. The people that work there are very pleasant and knowledgeable. Highly recommend eating there. The food is excellent and everything is made to order. Try the chocolate chip cookies and you will discover they are probably one of the best you’ve ever eaten and I’ve made them myself thousands of times. If you’re not even close it is well worth the detour to visit.

Tour

By Candice M |

We went on the tour and it was truly amazing. We learned so much and had a blast. We then tried true olive oil in its finest form and it was so delicious. We will always be a customer. Also lunch after was yummy! Gelato was to die for!

Interesting little tour.

By SteelCity13 |

This was a fun, interesting little tour. We learned alot about olive oil and how it is produced. Tour was almost an hour long so be prepared. You are able to get a drink to enjoy during the tour from their bar inside. There is a small cafe there as well if you are hungry. The grounds are beautiful. Only complains is the place often gets very busy and its confusing to where you go when you first arrive to check in for your tour. Also our tour had close to 30 people and next one had 2. Don't feel they should put that many people in one tour cause its kind of hard to hear. And finally would be nice if they did a tasting with the tour to describe the olive oils and balsamics further as well as applications of their use. You can taste in the store but it would have been nice if it was part of the tour. Overall a good experience and it sounds like the fall when there are fruit on the tree is a better time to go just to understand more of the farming/harvesting process.

Eye opening experience

By Olga |

Even if you have no interest in buying or tasting the oils, wine, bread, balsamic, delicioys sandwiches etc...this is The Place to inform yourself on the global and local olive oil industry. Super informative tour by the owner! With all the new information and tastes in hand, i became a member for a quarterly delivery of this yammy, yammy stuff!

incredible, unique, and perfect!

By Nichole C |

My 15 year old daughter and I experienced one of their tastings, and we LOVED it! So many wonderful things to try! We brought home several bottles of both their olive oil and balsamic vinegars and will likely be ordering several more! ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!

Worth the drive!

By Pamela E |

My friends and I stopped here on our way back to Austin after visiting the Lyndon B Johnson ranch. It's a little out of the way but it was a beautiful drive in the country. We did not take the tour but we enjoyed the tasting room and gift shop. It's a very beautiful facility.

quaint spot for lunch or gifts!

By jordanww90 |

incredible selection of gourmet gifts, oils and vinegars! it smells of fresh bread the moment you walk through the door, friendly staff and a GORGEOUS grove worthy of pictures!

Great olive oil

By Diane1437 |

Great place to visit. Food, wine, tastings, tours, shopping. Beautiful area. Great olives. Friendly staff. Good prices.

Did not expect that, you need to go here!

By Glen M |

Informative tour, nice restaurant with good variety of things for everyone. Oil tasting of their organic extra virgin oils as well as Balsamic vinegar (brought in from Italy).

Definitely something to go and see and do.

By Sharon J |

On our way to Fredericksburg for a short sister break, we noticed a sign leading us here. Small but lovely and full of unique Christmas gifts. A wide variety of balsamic vinegar and olive oil and other seasonings. Another surprise was the bistro. The food looks wonderful and we plan on eating here on our way back to Austin

Love This Place

By Krumrey |

Amazing food. The Olive Oil is very good. They have many samples and receipes to take home with you.

The Olive Oil lotions and soaps smell wonderful.

The Best Texas Olive Oil

By Aggie0205 |

The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable with their products. The store had wonderful gifts. There were some many oils to choose from, just ask and they will direct you in the right way. We had a glass of their homemade wine after exploring the store. We met John Gambini on his way out and had a wonderful conversation about the start of his adventure.

Very friendly!

By solligi |

They welcomed me and my Pomeranian with open arms! ! The wine was great! ! And the olive oil with all these spices!! I can't wait to go back! !

By Donald N |

We are on a couples unplugged weekend trip to Dripping Springs and booked a tasting and tour for the olive grove. We arrived and had a drink and the bar waiting for the tour to start. I highly recommend the wild cherry mimosa and peach mimosa. Then we took a tour of the orchard which was abbreviated due to the 2021 freeze that killed all 1500 trees. They took cuttings and replanted as our guide explained in the grove. We went inside to the tasting room and sat in an elegant dining room off the main floor. We learned a lot about olive oil and balsamic vinegar as well as the many taste profiles they offer. We followed all of this with lunch at the bistro and the food was amazing.

Olive Fun

By TM206 |

Attractive Facility. We did the tour. It was only $6. One of the least expensive things we did in the Hill Country Wine Region. The tour was very interesting. We also had lunch there. Lunch was about $10 a person. This is a popular place so it can be crowded.

Texas Olive Oil

By Dee Dee R |

We enjoyed visiting the Texas Hill Country Olive Company. They have tastings of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and wine from various Texas vineyards.

A lot of olive oil variety but pricey

By Mike N |

My wife and I stopped by this olive oil store on our way from San Antonio to Austin. They had a nice selection of olive oils and balsamic vinegars but all where on the pricey side. Even though they offer unlimited free samples, we left without purchasing anything. My wife found another store in Austin on 2nd street that she liked better and bought four bottles. The architecture was beautiful, though, and they sold wine as well as other food.

Worth Checking Out

By Garry M |

Great little spot to check out when in the area. Lots to sample. Great product and nice atmosphere. There are tours available if your timing is right.

Great Olive Oil Tasting

By mkphen |

My husband and I recently stopped to check out Texas Hill Country Olive Company and were so glad we did. They have free olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting. yummy! They also have a little Bistro and the food was delicious. Really glad we stopped in.

Beautiful Olive Company in Austin, TX

By Clair |

Super cool, family-run place with wonderful customer service. This place is beautiful and a lovely way to spend time together with family.

Great flavors

By ciscis |

I always stop in and pick up a flavor or two. This trip, lemon infused olive oil, lemon infused white balsamic vinegar and a jar of feta stuffed olives. I see a great salad in my future!

Delicious!

By 56sherylw |

Stopped very quickly, but was blown away by the quality and the selection of different oils and balsamic vinegars. Able to taste quite a few and brought several home. Not cheap but very worth the price.

Delightful afternoon "tasting" stop for the whole family

By goodman2007 |

Our family made an afternoon stop to taste olive oils and balsamic vinegars the whole family could enjoy. We'd see their products at the farmer's market and our local CSA farm store. The suggestions made by the staff for mixing the olive oil and balsamic were quite interesting- and tasty! We were surprised that we could do a wine taste as well. This is a fantastic place to sit down in the cool a/c do a little tasting and order light refreshments overlooking the olive orchard. Important information: they are not open on Tuesdays.

Great olive oil

By Vacation-Advocates |

The store was full of many selections as well the service and staff were extremely helpful. We walked through the three lines and enjoyed the wonderful views.

The presentation of how to make the oil

By Kathy O |

Sandy was a pleasure to work with, as she set up our visit for 9 women. The presentation and food were excellent and we had a wonderful time. I will definitely recommend this to those who are looking for something new and different to do. None of us had done something like this before. I live her and will tell all my friends about this place. We found this event on-line as we were looking for something that no one had experienced before. It definitely exceeded our expectations. You have a little slice of heaven right here in the hill country!

Great Tour and informative!

By 11Stef |

We had a great tour here when we had friends in town. I had no idea how olive trees/bushes grew and how you created Olive Oil. Fun thing to do if you find yourself in the area!

Great Experience

By Dan M |

Great selection of. Olive oils and vinegars. Can also have lunch during the week. Learn about pairing the olive oilssjth the vinegars

Delightful

By 1ssb |

We stoped here to taste the olive oil and Balsamic. Both were excellent. I just loved the olive oil infused with Rosemary. My husband really liked the Lemon infused olive oil. We tried most of them and they were all very delicious! We tried all of the infused vinegar and we particularly liked the blackberry, pomegranate, pear. Again they were all excellent!! We bought several and plan to order more online. The hostess was warm, friendly and attentive. They also have a bistro to order food, but they had just closed. They also have a small gift shop with nice things. You will love this place.

EVO - The Real Deal

By Bonnie K |

Learning the details of the process of making EVO and the many different Olive oil and balsamic vinegar tastings.

It doesn't get any better than this!

By Diane LN |

This is a wonderful experience. The property and the building are pretty and welcoming. Unfortunately, the cold snap in February had a negative effect on the olive trees so they weren't green while we visited. We missed the tour so we walked through the orchard on our own. It was very peaceful and scenic.
Prior to our arrival, I had read some revues of this place. Everyone raved about the grilled cheese, like REALLY raved. We decided to have lunch and our choice was simple, grilled cheese, tomato soup and a light salad with their own vinaigrette dressing. I will be talking about this lunch for a long time. It was one of the best meals I have ever eaten - homemade bread, gooey cheese, tomato soup with a fennel flavor , and a delicious little salad.

Service was very pleasant; all the staff was happy to answer questions about the place and the products.

The gift shop is definitely worth your time, too.

As we were leaving , a young woman was hysterically crying about her small dog. We went to help her and discovered she had accidentally stepped on him and spilled her cup of wine. I went back inside to get her water and napkins. They refused to let me pay for either! Now, that is customer service.

Olive tour

By jessica l |

Was cool to see the place, wish we would have gotten to see more of the agricultural side but that's just my opinion. Was nice place with good food, lunch discount tickets provided would be a good add to this tour.

Great time

By David P |

I read about this tour on trip advisor and we decided to give it a try. We really enjoyed the tour of the plant and the cafe was excellent. We also enjoyed sampling the many different olive oils and balsamic vinegars the onsite store sells.

Fun place to meet with friends

By Laura B |

We loved this place! We tasted a variety of olive oils and drank wine or beer with our fruit and cheese platter. We ended our snack with olive oil gelato which was delicious. Next time we want to take the tour!

The tour guide was very interesting and informative. The drive in the country was also enjoyable. Plan to eat in the bistro before or after the tour; the food was excellent.

Weekend Excursion

By Robert44 |

We were actually looking for the olive orchard that is over by Wimberley when we came across this place. We didn't do the tour, but had lunch and looked around the shop. My wife had the bruschetta appetizer and I had a panini. Both were good. We intended to buy some olive oil, but the bottles did not have a date on them so it was impossible to tell if the olive oil was fresh. The sample that my wife had did not give her the little peppery feeling at the back of your throat that you are supposed to get if the olive oil is fresh, so we passed on it.

Lots of olive oil and more! Loved it!

By Steffenie V |

We stopped here on a recommendation, and are so glad we did. The variety of olive oils made delicious, and the gelato with blackberry or cherry balsamic vinegar was so delicious we could not believe how good it tasted! It is a must see and you have to try it. Great place!!!!

One word-- yum!

By Sarah S |

Not a fan of olives but olive oil-- yum! Tour guide was very knowledgeable and was apparent that he enjoys what he does! Bought 5 bottles as souvenirs and a few Christmas gifts to boot. Do yourself a favor and try their strawberry balsamic lemonade! Worth the stop!

What a Beautiful Place

By Sharonfpower |

Located in a beautiful area in the Texas Hills this place was worth a visit. The girl behind the bar gave us quite a bit of great information about the different types of olive oils and vinegars. They had little cups to taste them all and small pieces of bread to dip. They had a huge variety of both along with different types of wine. This place isn't cheap by any means but I felt we were getting a quality product for the money and the service was great. It felt like we were in Tuscany. We could take a walk amongst the olives trees but there was nothing on the trees. The atmosphere is nice. They have live music on the weekends.

Informative

By brenda t |

This was my second visit to the Orchard. I was so impressed the first time, I brought three other people with me this time. I did join their quarterly olive oil shipment club. I love the cafe and absolutely love learning all the ins and out of running a olive oil business.

Nice change

By Ava M |

We stopped here for a quick break after going to the state park. We had really great sangria and the meat and cheese platter was amazing. Nice break from the tacos/bbq

Good oils and vinegars - fun break from wine tasting

By Carron H |

The folks were wonderful and they had dozens of things to try. The oils and vinegars were tasty, but felt they were overpriced.

By Tricia |

This was a very informative and fun tour. If you are a foodie or just love to eat, this tour will broaden your taste for olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Although you do not walk through the orchard, a thorough explanation of harvesting and processing. Is given. Products and other unusual related items can be purchased in the gift store. We also ate at the small cafe which served a fresh, tasty lunch.

A Family Favorite

By Dani K |

We have always loved this place. Beautiful building and land. Incredible oils and vinegars that we very much enjoy learning about. We actually loved our experiences so much that we had our rehearsal dinner here before our wedding! Such a unique night! We absolutely loved it.

Highly recommend

By Connie D |

This turned out to be a wonderful tour, lunch and shopping event! The owner, John Gambini was giving the tour for 1.5 hours and it was really fascinating. We learned a lot about EVOO and we joined their quarterly olive oil mail club. We also bought a lot of lovely gifts like Texas Honey, Olive Oil skin lotions, candles and of course olive oils and vinegars. The Bistro is a simple kitchen right in the main building where you can watch them cook and the food was beautiful and tasted great as well.

What an unexpected nice meal.

By Rose |

We stopped by to try the olive oil blends & for something different to do. We were too late for a tour but got to sample all the olive oils & balsamic vinegars. Very good. We purchased the garlic O oil. After looking at the menu we decided to have a few appetizers & some local wine. The bruchetta was so delicious. I think it was served with olive pesto. My favorite was the artisan chees platter w meat. So so fresh & delicious. The chef offered us some of the most delicious orange cake made w the O oil. If I could buy a cake of that I would. A whole loaf! Not kidding! I will be back. Maybe I can get that cake recipe......... Thanks for making our 24th anniversary a nice day...

Just driving around

By Christie C |

We had a great time. Guy making bread right in front of us. I had a in lightening conversation with him about making bread. The olive OU & balsamic vinegars are delicious. Tonight we're having some of that bread & a bottle of olive oil.

Relaxing and informative

By Lorianne N |

We were able to try different infused locally made olive oils (ended up buying one), walk in the orchard (very peaceful) and tried the gelato (delicious). Definitely a great stop. The people there were able to answer all kinds of questions we had about the process and the growth and harvesting of the olives. We had a great time.

Why I won't continue my membership in the olive oil club

By larry L |

I have been a club member for years but sadly I canceled my membership today. As much as I like their product I will not be deceived. They offer a club membership that give you a better than normal discount on the club box and 20% off other purchases. They also are very quick to point out in their emails that you can customize your oder. What they don't tell you is that when you do this it negates the better club price discount even though it does still give you the 20%, I email the about this since it does not seem fair and got a Texas two step cut and paste email back that did not address the issue. I emailed Justine and asked for better clarification and got the exact same cut and paste email. Again I like the product but refuse to deal with people who are not totally transparent in their dealing.

Great products

By Peggy E |

We enjoyed the 30+ minute tour. Hope to return in a year when freezing had not occurred so as to see olives on the trees. The oils were super (loved the jalapeno) as were the balsamic vinegars. Both were a bit pricey, but they are quality. Hope to return in the fall when they are harvesting the olives.

By Gergana |

This was such a great outing for a Saturday morning! We did the orchard tour which was ~45min of walking around the olive trees and learning more about the process of growing & processing olive oil, as well as the different varieties. Our tour guide was great - very friendly and knowledgeable!

The tastings are cancelled due to the CORONA restrictions but we had a lovely lunch in their shaded outdoor patio. Highly recommend the olive oil & olives platter.

Speaking of COVID, great to see everyone wearing masks and the business itself enforcing the regulations. Felt very safe walking around and eating there.

And, of course, we couldn't leave without purchasing some of the delicious extra virgin olive oil and balsamic (which is not made there but commissioned from the special region in Italy).

Would highly recommend, especially if you have friends or family visiting in town. It's a short 40-50min drive from Austin.

Nice stop, friendly, informative staff

By Steve |

Visiting freinds in Wimberly and decided to check out the Texas Hill Country Olive Company. I know there is a brewery, winery, or distillery around every corner near Wimberly, but I didn't't know about olive groves. Very friendly staff and good food. The grilled cheese is real good. The staff is informative and the place is clean. You can book a tour, but you need to do so 2-3 weeks before your visit. They have a gift store, but they are proud of their olive oils, and they are pricey. The olive grove froze in the last big freeze, and the new trees are only about 5 years old (very sad). The Goat cheese cherry gelato was small, but good. It's worth a stop if you like olive oil.

So worth the drive!

By Texans112 |

If you can arrange your visit for a tour, it would be fascinating! We just drove out on a whim and was amazed at this place. It is a beautiful facility with nice outdoor seating. Friendly staff to walk you through trying their oils and vinegars as well as Texas wines. They had homemade bread cubes to try the oils and vinegars with. They also had gelato and cheese trays available. I had rosemary gelato with blackberry balsamic vinegar on top. Heaven!!!

A great place to stop in the area and taste genuine Texas-made olive oil

By James Beswick |

This is olive oil at its freshest, and you get to sample a wide range of products in a friendly environment that's like a winery tasting room. I never get tired of bringing guests here to sample the different products, and only hope next time I can plan my arrival to finally get on the tour! The restaurant serves some great food and there is a gift shop to stock up on some unusual kitchen-themed items in addition to all the product they make in house. Once you start using their oil, it's not possible to switch back to the store brands - it's like the difference between home-baked bread and Subway. I can't recommend this enough as a great way to spend an hour if you're in the area.

Olive oil tour

By Amy W |

The ground was too muddy to walk around to see the trees, UT the lecture was interesting. Could have been a tad shorter. It was interesting to see the distillery. And their olive oil is fabulous. The tour is a pitch to buy products and we did!! It is a destination... go if you get the chance.

Neat and different spot in Texas Hill Country

By CoachRader |

Very nice and different spot to visit just north of Dripping Springs, TX. The staff was very helpful and informative. There are several types of oil and vinegar to try. Wine tastings are also available.

By J W |

We added this stop in between wine tasting visits, it was worth the stop and a nice way to break up the day. We were not able to tour the grounds or get on an official tasting however, you can still visit the store and eat in the bistro. You are able to order a sampling/tasting of the olive oils and vinegars. The bistro is counter service with limited seating both indoor and outdoor.

Educational

By Okiemom61777 |

Learned a ton about olives, olive oil, and what it takes to grow and process the olives into oil. They have a nice gift shop where you can taste the different oils and balsamic before your commit to buying.

Bad service, incorrect info

By Happiness11057448611 |

We called ahead of time and we were told that they’re all open and operational today December 26 Tuesday. We get there doors are locked. There’s no one around and there’s a sign on the door that they are closed today. I called them back and the lady on the phone said they are open and she’s going to try to verify. Verify what? That they are closed? The doors are closed the lights are off. We drove one hour extra to get to this place. Hurry up and verify! verify better!

Great experience with Nicole!

By karikile |

We enjoyed lunch at the Bistro followed by a tasting with Nicole. We were very impressed by all of the olive oils especially the infused oils. Nicole was fabulous, her knowledge and personality made it a great experience. The gift shop has a great variety of all of the Olive oils and essentials to add to your home. Highly recommend for a couples experience or a group of friends.

Oil & Vinegar

By Janie Z |

This was an absolutely beautiful establishment with knowledgeable personnel to teach us about their many oils and vinegars.

A little bit of Tuscany right in the Hill Country

By Austinmike28 |

The tasting room at Hill Country Olive Company has just opened. The company it'self has been around a few years but the tasting room is brand new. The building is a fine looking piece of stone work, that has an island tasting bar right when you walk in. A kitchen where they make their own HOMEMADE BREAD is to the right and the place smells amazing when you walk in after a fresh loaf has been made.

There is also a small art gallery in the back with viewing windows into the production area where the bottles are filled and the oil is made. The olive orchard is also right next to the tasting room and looks to be about 50-60 acres big.

The olive oil they make is pretty good. They only have three different oils right now, but may make more later. I like the strong extra virgin with a spicy finish myself. They also have a lot of different types of balsamic vinegars to try, I liked the traditional and the peach. They also do TEXAS wine tastings and you can buy local area wine by the glass or bottle.

It was really cold outside and raining when we visited but there looked like a patio was about to be finished where you could have a glass of wine in the warmer months. When you're out wine tasting I'd stop by.

Snooty mold

By Lauren B |

From the positive reviews we were compelled to visit after hamilton pool and being avid olive fans we found the selection quite small. Given this, we decided to try some balsamic and found some lovely blue mold on the bread.
To top off the whole experience we were practically ignored except for a disgruntled hello. I don't know if it was because we weren't as dressed up as the stepford wives around us or because we are young but as someone who was ready to be a customer I was immediately turned off by the whole experience.

Wonderful Experience

By Arkiea H |

Decided to take the tour to become more familiar with Texas Hill Country Olive Co. products that we carry at my job. It was an nice tour- very informative. The staff was very helpful & friendly. Also, enjoyed a lovely lunch at the bistro along with a wine sampling. Definitely will return!

Fun Visit

Enjoyed our visit and educational tour! Fantastic welcoming staff. We are glad we stopped by and look forward to using the olive oils we purchased in our next meals!

Tasty Olive Oil

By gimpy333 |

Lots of tasty craft olive oils you can try. Great appetizers and a cute gift shop. Their infused olive oils are some of the best I've had. You can take a tour of the olive grove as well. It's a fun stop when touring the Texas Hill Country.

By Sarah M |

We learned the history and fun facts about olive oil. The free tasting room helped us decide which olive oil to buy and the restaurant has great food, drinks, and dessert!

Outstanding customer service - Great experience

By CraftBeers |

What a great side trip from Fredericksburg. It was about a 50 mile drive, but wow was it worth it. First, don't discount the drive to get there. You will wind through small rolling hills with spectacular views. We crossed a stream that runs over the road. Once you get to the olive farm, the stone building screams Tuscany. The acres and acres of olive trees with a stone mansion is awesome.

Texas Hill Country Olive Company sells two basic products: Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar. They grow, harvest, and produce all their olive oil on site. The balsamic vinegar is produced by Terra Verde in Italy and aged for six years before sending it here. With these two base products, the owners infuse them with things like fig, blueberry, wild cherry, rosemary, lemon, and more. While they only have two base products, they have 15-20 infused flavors in each line.

When you walk inside the building it's a fairly small space that has a merchandise and tasting room on the left with two tasting stations. Each one has two dozen olive oil and balsamic vinegar samples. There are cups and bread to try them all along with instructions of how to properly taste the flavors. Recipe cards sit nearby to inspire you on how the different flavors could be used in your cooking. We spent an hour trying them out. The two ladies working behind the check out counter were phenomenal. They were funny, happy, engaged, knowledgeable and made our visit spectacular.

We arrived having had lunch and regretted that decision. There is a small deli with seating on the right. There are probably six tables inside that might seat 20 people. Outside are a few more chairs and tables. The menu is limited to bruschetta, cheese boards, flatbread, a couple of sandwiches and a salad. The key to all of the menu items is they feature their products. You order and pay at the counter, but you get to sample their products in real food. They have wine and drinks for sale. It's possible to come here and enjoy the atmosphere, drink some wine and have lunch with their products in it.

Tours are only available on the weekend, which is a shame. We were there on a Monday afternoon with just a handful of people visiting. The tour takes you out onto the tree farm and production.

This place rocks! Visit it! They have award winning products that taste great. Employees are fantastic in a setting that is aesthetically pleasing.

Tour during Memorial Day weekend

By Victoria |

We went on this tour as a group of 4. We are avid (novice) Olive lovers because we are an Italian family, so we were pretty excited for the tour. We started the tour inside-wearing masks which I understood since we were sitting by bread. Brief history Introduction then we went to the orchard which I wished we had a moment to walk around as the guide was showing us the trees instead of staying still for the 20+ minutes, It would have been great to explore and stretch our legs a little... We then went back inside with masks to where they made the olives/oil and this is when the tour was WAY longer than it should have been. The tour should have been a total of 30 minutes not over an hour, especially since we did not get any samples of olives or olive oil which was a huge bummer and made the tour a WAY too sleepy (My brother fell asleep, I debating leaving and our butts hurt on the hard chairs) when the guide was explaining the benefits of the oil in depth and showing how the oil/olives tasted, we had nothing to experience (no taste tests). The tour guide was knowledgeable passionate/nice but, it was just too long of a presentation than it needed to be, especially if you want to make the most of your vacation. Even with COVID19 some olive oil samples/olives to sample would have increased sales in the gift shop and also helped me pick-up the best olives/oil to choose as well as breaking up the lengthy tour. From a sanitary standpoint there restaurant food was in the open upon entering so, samples would have made sense especially since we were in the factory. The tour was thankfully cheap so I wasn't too bent out of shape but, if your short for time and want to make the most of your vaca- I would recommend just a self-guided tour and get some oil/olives/bread on the way out and take a view pictures in the orchard as we did. This is just my honest review.

Great tour

Excellent tour, very informative. We learned a lot about the benefits of olive oil for health purposes.

Excellent!!!

By Vanessa V |

We did a tour and it was so informative! Learned a lot and enjoyed it so much we stayed for lunch which was excellent. I highly recommend. Great food, olive oils, vinegar. They even have olive oil sorbet which was delicious! I would come here again!

Great visit

By cgarvis1 |

Great place to have lunch and check out some olive oil. Got the tour, very informative. I do plan to make another trip in the near future, when I run out of oil! Love the body cream also. Must visit when you find yourself with a free day to explore.

A great tasting experience--and no hangover!

By MiMi T |

Real olive oil--not the stuff mixed with vegetable oils in plastic bottles--is a real treat when you conduct a tasting that treats oil like fine wines. See, swirl, sniff, sip, and savor brought the flavors to life. Our guide Trey expertly explained the differences between the oils we tasted to our group on a weekday morning. Exotic flavors like harissa, basil, Sicilian, and blood orange were great on their own, but combined with the amazing array of balsamic vinegars and then sampling them with bread, parmesan cheese, marcona almonds, dark chocolate, and even ice cream made for a superbly tasty and educational experience. They shared recipes, ideas for using the oils and vinegars, and a conversion chart for substituting oil for butter in recipes. The shop has two sizes of bottles for purchase, as well as accessories for serving. There's a restaurant that serves fresh, seasonal, farm-to-table food that showcases their products at their best. Reservations are necessary for groups. Weekends are busy, but don't miss this gem when visiting Dripping Springs. Their award winning oils and vinegars are worth the trip!

A nice afternoon

Tool the tour and had lunch and loaded up on olive oil. Tour was informative, lunch was very good and the selection of oils to buy was extensive.

Great place to visit. Excellent tour and tasting

By Springboks71 |

When we arrived, we were immediately greeted and checked in for the tour. Since we had some time before the tour began, one of the people there gave us a wonderful overview of each of the oils and balsamic vinegar's available for tasting and we could then wander around the store.

The owner who gave us the tour was a wonderful story-teller and shared a wealth of information about the history of his farm, the history of olives and olive oil and world-wide production. We then went into the orchard and he showed us three varieties of olive trees and explained how things worked. Following that, we went into the factory area and he explained how each piece of equipment worked. He was very friendly and willing to answer any questions. Our tour group had about 20 people including both adults and children.

At the end of the tour, we were hoping to eat in the Bistro but it is pretty small and was so packed that we ended up skipping lunch there. All in all, it is a place that is worth a visit. The drive out to the farm is also a very pleasant hill country experience.

The Best Olive Oil in Texas

By PrudenvilleDavid |

This is a worthwhile stop when visiting the Texas Hill Country. We have enjoyed enjoyed their Terra Verde for years, but have never taken the opportunity to visit the orchard and sample the other terrific oils and infused blends. The staff were very helpful and encouraged me to try the olive oil gellato with blueberry topping. It was delicious. There is also a winery just a few miles away in a very nice hill country wooded setting.

Great place

By Stacy78620 |

Neat little place to sit and enjoy some wine and samples of some of their oils and vinegars. They have some of the best balsamic vinegars money can buy; olive oil is awesome too!

A Mediterranean stop in central TX

By XVictorious |

We made a stop at TX Hill Country Olive Co during a mid-week day date. The olive farm offers tours of the grove and their pressing facilities. We walked the grove and took pics of the different types of olives; then we enjoyed a nice light lunch on site, and took home a few products from their shop. We’ve been here before, and will be back again.

Amazing

The Texas Hill Country Olive Mill Tour was amazing, the tour, the store and the bistro where lunch was served. Highly recommend the experience.

Awesome place to visit

Best place to take out of town guest for a visit or shop for "Texas" gifts for everyone. Many samples to try before you by. Stop and enjoy a little taste of the Dripping Springs experience.

Superb quality oils, exemplary customer service

By Darlene M |

Tour guide was fun, humorous, knowledgeable. Learned quite a bit about olive trees, production, etc. All the oils were extremely good, but I only bought 2, along with a few of the balsamic vinegars. The customer service was above and beyond! I was greated the moment I entered the building. Every single staff member I encountered was smiling, friendly, attentive, and helpful. They were quite busy, but still manage to make you feel like a special guest!

Oh the Olive Oil!!!!

By gallitx |

Very interesting and informative tour, beautiful facility. Very charming gift shop. Delightful restaurant; the grilled cheese sandwich/tomato bisque soup is absolutely delicious!

We Never Skip This Place!

By 2GJA |

We last summer discovered this place and have been back since. The olive oils and balsamic vinegars are wonderful. The people are very friendly and encourage visitors to try all of their products. We haven't been able to do the tour yet, but that's on our agenda for our next visit. Don't miss this place when you are in the area.

LOVE!

By tjh |

I love this place. The tour is short but very educational. Olive oil and olives are some of my favorite things.
Beautiful building with even more beautiful grounds. And you must try the gelato with the balsamic vinegars....trust me! Yum-O!
Come ready to purchase lots of tasty flavors of olive oil- it's hard to choose just one!

An en"oil"able time

By BilLys |

Look for the farmers market sign because the TX Hill Country Olive Company sign is difficult to see at first.

An absolutely beautiful building. The rocking chairs out front and the pergola on the side are so inviting. As others have said and I can't agree more, the olive oils and vinegars are delish! We chose a small bottle of the peach balsamic vinegar. Wish we could have bought a few more.

Look fwd to returning in the fall

Unique experience in a beautiful building and site

By AG-MIR |

My wife and kids (ages 9 and 14) just left and we are very happy we stopped. We have never visited an Olive Orchard so it was a new, unique experience. This place is very clean and looks brand new. We were greeted right away with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting with fresh bread. We were sorry we had just eaten at Sonic as we could have also ordered some cheese and meat plates for a different kind of lunch. After that, we ordered the chocolate and vanilla olive oil gelato and we put peach vinegar on top...amazing flavor and texture. After that, we bought some items (garlic olive oil and peach vinegar) and walked around the orchard. We took pictures and then left. It was the best 30 minutes spent and now we are off to Frederickaburg. The person there commented that on Saturdays they have live music and full of patrons. Give it a try nd you will not be disappointed.

Texas Olives are Amazing!

By Carla W |

What an experience! Who knew that olives were in hill country of Texas! Amazing, beautiful, informative! Will check out their website to buy olive oil and the balsamic.

Love the balsamic vinegar!!

By Brenna D |

I enjoyed the tour and found it interesting as I knew nothing about the process of making oils or balsamic vinegar. The infusion of flavors and the tasting were very eye opening and delicious. The shop has a nice variety of unique items and it smells wonderful. The olive trees had been destroyed by the freeze and the ones replanted aren't anything to look at yet, but not their fault. My male partner wasn't as into it as I was so I noticed several males asking questions. Give it a shot. Our tour guide was enthusiastic and knew her stuff.

Don’t miss this delectable delight

By patti |

Great staff, tasty treats, wonderful olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Cute store with a lot of Texas treats, with soaps, lotions and seasonings!

Interesting

By S F |

Learned a lot of new things to do with wine, vinegar and olive oil. Another review said there was pizza and sandwiches but there was none, just cheese and meat plates. Good music playing on the patio. We tasted the wine, olive oil and vinegar options. All good!

Clean, welcoming and good

By L H |

Several of our party had not been here before so we visited for lunch.
The place is very nice with ample parking. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the front counter staff was very friendly and helpful.
The menu is small but it all sounded delicious so we ordered different things to try.
Our orders were taken quickly and the food prepared/served timely.
The Garlic Kettle Pesto Chips @ $5.50 were crisp and tasty.
The Carved Turkey Sandwich w/side salad @ $12 was very good. The salad was fresh mixed greens and the sandwich had thick turkey pieces.
The Flatbread Margarita w/(Pepperoni) @ $13 was appetizer size but just right for one person's meal.
The Grilled Cheese $13 w/ soup (add'l $2) was delectable with several cheeses for flavor. The soup was tomato and perfect for dipping the sandwich.
It is a tad pricey but considering the venue and the area it is expected I guess.
We all enjoyed our meals and the place was not extremely crowded so not too noisy to relax and enjoy conversation.
Everything was very clean. Of course they offer olive oil and other olive related items, with tastings available as well as wine tasting or by the glass/bottle.
You will want to put this on your "stop" list and visit when in the area.

A fabulous place to see n the heart of texas.

By Sharon S |

They care about olives at this place and they are doing a great job of this family operated business.

Pretty spot but skip the tour

By David D |

The spot is beautiful and learning about the process for making olive oil is interesting. The owner was the individual who conducted our tour and he comes across as an egomaniacal narcissist. Hearing about how great he is over 90 minutes became a real turn off. Couldn't wait for the tour to end.

Great visit. Cool concept.

By vodkaman3 |

Went to Texas Hill country Olive oil company. Great concept and execution. Had a great tour with Donna. Their tasting room allows you to sample a variety of oils and the tour allowed for participants to understand how to evaluate them. It’s a great supplement to or alternative to the many wineries in the area.

Second great visit

By PNG81 |

Came back again and it was just as good as the first time. The service and help was very friendly and helpful. Will come again

Visited with relatives from NC

By Shelia S |

It was a great experience. The owner gave our tour and shared his passion for olive oil. The staff recommended we order lunch before our 11 am tour. When we finished the tour our table was ready and our lunch was being prepared. Everything was delicious.

Loved the Bistro

By CherK528 |

We went there to take the tour and taste the flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars. But, we didn't expect the bistro. It's not meant to be a full restaurant, but the limited menu was full of high quality, appealing items that paired well with the wine and mimosas offered. The four of us made various choices, and all were excellent. No disappointments, here! Oh! And, the views are wonderful.

Wonderful Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars!!

By BabblesfromBoise |

My husband and I are small town folks. After a week in the big city of Austin and suffering through all things traffic, my husband and I decided to escape to the country for our last afternoon in Texas.

Our goal was to hit the Salt Lick for dinner, so we decided to set out to find the Texas Oil Company - so glad that we did!!

I love making homemade salad dressings and drizzles and nothing's better than olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The vinegars at this place are awesome!! They're smooth and don't seem to have the acidic bite at the end. We bought several fun flavors (like pineapple and vanilla and fig) and had them shipped home for just $10.

The place was hopping at 4 pm on a Wednesday March afternoon. We would have loved to stay longer - but then the Salt Lick was calling.

Great experience - well worth the drive........awesome gifts!!!

Tasty!!

By mitcam |

Great place to pick up some great Texas Olive Oil!! They offer food and wine too! Staff was very helpful and pretty location.

Olive Oil Tour

By Sheilah L |

Second time to do this informative tour, and it did not disappoint. We did the $6 tour, because the $12 tour, that includes more information, was not available until mid-November. Our enthusiastic guide used her notes a little bit, once in the processing area, but it did not distract from the information she was giving. After the tour, we ate in the Bistro, and everyone’s choice was delicious! Next time we have out of town guests, we will take them to this Texas Hill Country gem!

Morning trip to olive company

By Dennis S |

My wife and I went to the olive company for a morning outing. We tasted all of the flavored balsamic vinegars and bought 6 different ones. Also tried several of the olive oils and bought three different ones. Went on a short tour of orchard and gardens.

Delicious oil and vinegar! Wonderful hospitality.

By Maura_Patricia |

I love to take friends here when they visit Austin. The oils and vinegar are wonderful and the helpful staff will walk you through a tasting and take time to explain to you. There are also other goodies available---like olive oil ice cream. Need a gift--amazing olive oil soaps and lotions are for sale. Plus, they ship their oils and vinegar. It is a great, unique spot. Fold it into a day trip with a stop at Hamilton Pool and visits to the local wineries.

Loved it!

By Kay T |

Owner provided the tour, which is a seated explanation of the equipment and process, what qualifies as extra virgin olive oil, and a tasting of olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Then had lunch at the cafe. So glad we came (and bought lots of their products!) Highly recommend.

Great spot for lunch

By MsNance-TX |

Nice sandwiches and wine. I loved that the egg salad was olive oil based, and not mayo. The muffuletta was very generous!

Love this place.

By Tonya25 |

Find out what quality olive oil is. It’s here. Wonderful blends. If they are serving food, your nose will be in for a treat. We didn’t have lunch, but it smelled incredible. Shop has nice selection of various items. I love stopping here when I’m in the area.

One of my Top 10 Tours...and we travel a LOT worldwide

By rfpavlov |

I just happened upon this place, looking for a way to kill time in between other Austin-area events so we thought we'd make the trip. And boy, were we NOT disappointed! Not only was it a fun and VERY informative tour (by the owner, John Gambini, who is incredible!...he also greeted everyone at the door), the Bistro is fabulous (can you say "olive oil gelati"??? Wonderful!), the store is super, but the product is so superior, it's impossible to express. I have already heartily recommended this to a bunch of friends who live in Austin and have never heard of this place. Put it on your A LIST!

Interesting and tasty trip through olive orchard

By Shirley |

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the little bistro followed by the 2 pm tour of the Texas Olive Orchard in Dripping Springs. Sherry gave our tour and it was informative and funny! After the tour, we enjoyed tasting the various olive oils and vinegars in the shop. We signed up for the club because the quality is good and we like to support high quality olive oil producers in Texas. The balsamic vinegar is imported from Italy and they flavor it in-house. It was delicious! I highly recommend this tour and the consideration of support of the local olive growers.

Outstanding Olive Orchard in the Texas Hills

By Mark S |

This is the second time we have visited the Texas Hills County Olive Company in Dripping Springs Texas. It has a wonderful tasting room with very helpful employees. They have both home grown olive oils and Italian Balsamic Vinegar in great favors. Each time we have left with several bottles to use in home cooking and seasoning.

By Maytraveler |

Everyone was very knowledgeable about the products, olive oil/balsamic vinegar. The tasting was an incredible experience. I loved the olive oil, but the balsamic vinegars stole the show! We enjoyed the cafe with the farm to table food . Finally shopping in the store was fun and informative. Got recipe cards for the oils and vinegars purchased. Highly reccommend

Perfect venue for a bridal luncheon

By ihatefakenames |

It was hard to get started...their phone system is impossible, and it took a while to get hold of an event person. They’ve had a change in personnel, and best of all their chef made sure our menu was perfect in spite of a recent surgery! The party room set the tone for the weekend celebrations with a beautiful table set viewing the Hill country olive orchard. Whim took wonderful care of the flowers, coordinating with the rest of the events of the weekend so it flowed seamlessly from one event to the next. The menu was planned with the chef from their usual menu, which was quite the challenge for 30 people in their kitchen. Guests were so happy with everything, from the first blackberry lemonade all the way through the tiramasu. I highly recommend this venue!!!

Great stop for lunch

By ShannonMcTx |

We didn't do the tour but enjoyed sampling oils and balsamic vinegar. Had lovely lunch of paninis, soup, salads and amazing warmed kettle chips with balsamic drizzle. Sangria was refreshing. Saw another table with a flight of some wines. Might try that next time. Goat cheese and cherry gelato was delicious too.

Stopped in for a taste, ended up having a great lunch

By tdhat |

Started with a cheese plate, fantastic then moved onto a piece of olive oil-pineapple cake with a blueberry vinegar drizzle (sounds weird but it was wonderful). Then we had some rosemary gelato with white lemon vinegar and vanilla gelato with blackberry vinegar.

They also have some win tastings and a great place outback to enjoy those wines.

By 2texanstraveling |

We stopped here on a whim. Their Olive Oils and vinegars are very tasty. We got to try them all and ended up buying one oil and one vinegar ( the Fig). They have lots of other gift shop items for sale which I was tempted to buy!! Got a great education by Merle! We plan to go back in May and buy a few olive trees to plant. They are organic which I love!!!

Lovely visit!

By stanandamy |

We were welcomed by the owner, enthusiastic about his business! We enjoyed sampling the products and a delicious lunch. Very clean and friendly. Too bad it was too cold for the outdoor tour.

Very picturesque

By 1Mujer |

I loved the whole idea of this place. The smell when you first come in, is yummy!! They have a little cafe area, I didn't eat there but everything looked and smelled yum! They have free water for people to drink, even if you're not eating and doing the tour. I recommend the tour as they give you a bunch of info. They let you try all the different flavor Olive oil and basalmic vinegars.

Great afternoon!

By KpawMD |

My Mom, my two daughters (18&21) and I loved our tour and lunch! We only paid in advance for the tour and afterwards stayed for a delicious light lunch. John gave a wonderfully insightful tour of his lovely olive orchard and the history of olives. Samples of the olive oil were yummy! Almost wish they had a inn attached like the agriturismo farms in Italy, so they could host weddings and parties. Will return when we come back to Austin! All the best!!

Very, very interesting with more than you expect

By lplsally |

I love to see Texas becoming a source for top notch olive oil. Texas Hill Country Olive Oil is one of the reasons why. To give credence to that claim, read about the WSJ calling their olive oil one of the best in America. When you park, you immediately see olive groves. Then walk into the modern building to look at their wares and taste olive oils and balsamic vinegars. The vinegars are imported from Italy.

There is a lovely porch in the front to just hang out on a rocking chair. When you walk in be sure to start by tasting olive oils. They will recommend also trying the vinegars. The shop sells other items and it is hard to walk out without some kitchen items along with their outstanding olive oil.

Surprisingly, they also have a small cafe and bar that even has mimosas. On a hot summer day, it would be cool and relaxing.

A word about the staff -- they are lovely. The manager and his wife took an interest in my 89 year old father and made his day. As a consequence, I have told everyone I can think of not to miss this attraction. I wish we could have taken the tour.

Tips: It is not very big so get there when they open so you have room to browse.

The staff was very helpful, the tour was extremely informative, and the lunch we had was excellent. Totally worth the drive!

Customer Service MIA

By flyfishing76 |

Had family in from out of town, went for lunch. Waitstaff and chef were rude! Food was ok, but the attitudes were not good. It was an imposition to make 3 salads and a panini. Needs some leadership!
