i purchased some different kind of beers , but was not advised to keep it in refrigerated and is spoiled! should advise clients at the cash. 42$ US gone to hell.

My husband had to make one last stop here to stock up before we headed home. He really loves the beer. There's free tastings here but they don't serve food. This place was very close to our hotel.

Grabbed some focal and El Jeff and cheddy topper cheese! Nice building, cool branding, had bathrooms, line was short and moved quick. Go the Moss Glen Falls afterwards

Visited on 10/14. Inside closed for renovations. Beer garden closes on 10/17. The outdoor space had lots of seating with a small bar set up. Guy behind the bar was super friendly and knowledgeable about their beers.

First time here but won't be the last! Free samples, great atmosphere and amazing beer! Heady Topper and Focal Banger were my two favorite, brought some home to PA with me too. Can't wait to go back again!

Beers below average quality for me. Not sure what to say. People super friendly. Nice out door space. The inside was closed.

Visited the week before Christmas, and it turns out that my timing was perfect; no early crowd, no wait to get in, and six different beers in stock! Was advised that as soon as ski season picks up, lines would be out the door again, but that I had hit one of the few lulls they have. (I think the other is after ski season and before summer visitors arrive.) Not a place to sit and drink, and no food - just retail and a small sampling area, but still a destination for those who want one of the best New England style IPAs made.

Nice facility, where you get free pours (1 each) of whatever they have on tap. Nice area to stand around looking at the interior the brewery. Went during mud season so I didn't have much of a wait, and could purchase larger quantities of beer.

Stopped by the brewery to try and get some Heady Topper. We failed, which was expected since it was late in the day, but everyone here was so nice. They had employees in the parking lot letting us know the beer they had left (they make 3 different types: Focal Banger, Heady Topper, and The Crusher). They only had Focal Banger left and let us know that we MIGHT get some if we get in line. We ended up getting a whole case which was awesome. You can try free samples of all of the beer, and you can buy all sorts of souvenirs (stickers, shirts, glasses, etc) and can hang out outside in the grass with your beer. Not much else goes on here besides buying cases of their great beer, but everyone working here was exceptionally kind so I needed to write a review!

We were hoping that we would get to buy a round of beers and hang out but they only do tasters (although they are free and semi-unlimited which is nice). It is a cute tasting room and organized but a little too commercial feeling. We bought lots of beer to take home and it is delicious. Lots of dogs around and it was all-in-all a good time.

They only have beer. It is marginal at best. Nothing for the driver to drink. Not overly engaging staff.

I've been a fan of Heady in the past since then I've moved on. They still make a great beer but I've experience better since. The building is absolutely gorgeous and definitely worth a visit. When we arrived they were out of crusher and it looked like heady might tank also, but they had enough. The brewery is well organized and a feast for the eyes. They offer tastings along the way. I really would have loved crusher. I took my two 4packs of Heady and Focal. I passed on the Petit Mutant not a fan of Brett's. Worth a visit but for me one and done.

I love that this place is dog friendly. The beer is great and it's always fun to stop by. We get loads of beer for friends and business colleagues in NYC. They love it!

Definitely a "stop" on anyone who's driving through Vt vacation! The beer is GREAT and the employees seem to REALLY enjoy sharing their gem of a beer.

Cool place, did a great job with branding the brew. Tastings were free; they had 3 at the time we visited. If you love IPAs, this is the place for you, if you don't, you won't like what they have.

We made a special trip to the Alchemist over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. You simply cant get this amazing beer where I live so for me it was worth the trip (3 hr drive - with teenagers). The Alchemist brews mostly IPAs - they are world class and honestly some of the best you ever hope to have.
This is what a brewery should be: lots of awesome beer to purchase (cans and growlers), free beer samples (yay!!), free stickers, short lines, cool swag, a laid back atmosphere and friendly staff.
Could only be better if they served food. Maybe they do I am not sure. We were on a road trip and the kids were anxious to get going to the Ben & Jerrys Creamery(punks!).
Bottom Line: if you love IPAs, really great IPAs, do your self a favor and try this beer!!

I think the marketing is interesting and not being able to purchase this beer anywhere and limited quantities at the brewery make it more appealing. Everyone has a different taste but I did not find any of their beer very good, it was okay.

a Vermont crown jewel if you love beer-great space and a well oiled machine--get you taste, buy your beer and then enjoy the ambiance

They hosted the NICA ice carving competition this year. Great live music, beer flying out the door and fun atmosphere. We bought their most popular beer, Heady Topper, along with a limited release (Luscious; porter) and FocalBanger. We also tried El Jefe (a seasonal black IPA). I hope they host again next year!

I'm not a beer aficionado but I do like to try the local micro-brews. The Alchemist makes some really good beer; all IPAs.
They have two breweries in Waterbury and Stowe and only deliver within 25 miles of the breweries. The Stowe location offers tasting samples but lines may form to get in. At the Stowe brewery they sell to the public but quantities per person are very limited. And since you must keep it refrigerated or risk it turning bad, it's hard to buy and take on a plane unless you check a cooler. They only deliver within 25 miles of the Stowe brewery but also sell to a number of restaurants and stores in Vermont so getting it outside the state is virtually impossible.
But this is really good beer! Did I say that already? Their Heady Hooper is probably their most popular and definitely our fav. If you're in Vermont and see it on a menu give it a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

This is a very unusual brew pub. In fact, we’ve never encountered one like this. It’s an odd business practice. You can only get beer in a can. So no flights, no tasting to decide what one wants, etc. I realize they feel you should only drink their IPAs from a can, and market it that way. But then why was Heady Topper the one and only beer that was on tap? Unusual and a bit eccentric. The grounds are beautiful, there is outdoor covered seating, and limited indoor seating. There was one food truck. Ample parking, convenient and easy location to find. Charging stations for EVs.Plus they are only open until 6PM.

I went here for some drinks and apps! It is a great quaint spot with delicious drinks & apps! We saw at the bar and it was a slower night so the bar tender was asking us what we liked, he made the BEST espresso martinis! We also got the cheese board which was delish, had lots of local cheeses. I'd 100% come back when I go back to Stowe!

The place is nice, right in town and excellent beers to taste.
The back yard is huge and it is animated some days (Thursday nights). There is a discgolf game, but no bisc to borrow so bring your own or buy one !
I was with my yen year old boy and this was an easy going place with amazing images and gears to look at !
I will be there again...

I really enjoyed stopping by here for some free sample of one of my favorite beers. The building is pristine and the location is ideal. Stowe is so great The Alchemist is worth the visit!

I think the reason we travel to Stowe mountain to ski every year is because of the Alchemist. Don't get me wrong, the skiing is great, but buying and drinking fresh Heady and Focal is the best!

We're not craft beer aficionados and had no idea what this was all about. Stowe magazine had an article on the history of this brewery and we had to try it to believe it. Thankfully the line was not out the door this weekend because it was 2 degrees. The line for samples was quick and we tried the famous Heady Topper. Unfortunately it was late in the day and they were out so we couldn't buy any. We figured we'd come back in the morning and bring home souvenirs. Unfortunately, no one bothered to read the sign that says Closed Sunday.
Next time

Hitting Breweries in Vermont, this is a must stop. Large new facility, ample parking. Tasting area allows view of brewery. On the left is a pouring area, they will give a glass and pour a sample. Wander around and return for another sample when you are ready. Purchase line is on the right for beer to go. No food, but many good places to eat nearby in Stowe. FRESH HEADY TOPPER ON DRAFT IS AMAZING. (6/30/17)

Can't go to the Mad River valley area without a stop at the brewery. We enjoy many of their beers and it is great to be able to purchase some to bring home.

Stopped by with a few friends to buy some cans to bring home to MA. We were pleasantly surprised to see that they offer free samples of 3 types of beer, as well as the option to buy a full pour if you want some more. Luckily the weather was cooperative and we were able to socialize outside on their patio. There is not a lot of space inside, just a few high-top tables (unlike some of the other breweries that have popped up recently). Still a great time and I am happy I finally got to see (and taste) it myself.

Ummmm - Heady Topper? - nuff said. Attitude zero - they have the (rated) best beer in the world) - brilliant set-up - Wonderful staff no pretence - 100% appreciation that we made the journey to their brewery. Tasting, schwag and a great view of Stowe Mountains ... ? Check! 2-4 of beer best in the world? check, check.

We visited the Alchemist six years ago and became huge fans of the Heady Topper instantaneously. The new location is nice and spacious and the tasting is generous with 3 IPAs offered. The outdoors area is tastefully done with interesting plant grafting and Cornhole. They were setting up for a live music performance when we visited. Of course the beer is awesome. Do not miss this if you like IPAs.

Loaded up the coolers and headed to Stowe for the weekend. Second visit to The Alchemist, first having been in July.
Had a local Bluegrass band providing entertainment as everyone enjoyed their samples of several brews.
They were providing a special prize to vets, to commemorate Veterans Day weekend. Also recently took donations for the local food pantry. John, Jen, & Company really get it when it comes to giving back.
A little disappointed that the quota on Heady Topper had been cut back from earlier in the week, but better to get some than none!
A must stop if you are visiting the area and love high quality world class IPA!

We are from NY. Never waited on line to buy beer. Best beer ever! Incredibly fresh. Worth the wait. Very organized. Glad we got there before they sold out.

Very famous brewery that brews many great beers, including of course Heady Topper. This new brewery is a huge upgrade from the one that was in Waterbury. There is plenty of parking when visiting. Upon entering you may have to stand in line to enjoy their free samples, they have three different beers on tap (check their website for beers on tap), I was there on a Wednesday around 11:30am and there was no line for samples of beer. You may go back and get samples as much as you like, however you really are there to purchase the beer. There was a short line for beer purchases, perhaps about a 10 minute wait. Again, check the website for beer allowances, they limit the amount you can purchase by type. Other than sample and purchase a few beers, there really is not much else to do, you may spend about 30 minutes here at the most. Remember to bring a cooler of ice, because the beer is unfiltered and unpasteurized it must stay cold.

Everything about The Alchemist is great. Not only is their beer truly spectacular, but their brewery is really impressive. Went on a Saturday niggt at 5 with my wife and two kids (2 and 4) and it was a really good time. Very family friendly...and pet friendly, too. Kids loved being able to pet the dogs while Mom and Dad were sampling beer.
Yes, the cost of buying beer adds up quickly, but the product is worth the investment.

I heard about this brewery and the heady topper beer for awhile now. Here is turned out this brewery was right beside our hotel. The smell of hops really hits you as soon as you open the door. I really enjoyed the ipa samples. These people really know IPAs.

Don't get hung up on Heady Topper - yes it's good, yes it's famous - but all the beer here is good.
When you walk in free samples are to the left, queue for purchases to the right. After you purchase the beer there's a separate exit leading right to the parking lot so you can get out quick and not clog up the entrance. The brewery is dog friendly, so we were able to relax for 30 minutes with our dogs and sample the three brews on tap. There are some cool descriptions of how/why they brew their beer in certain ways.
We bought 12 4-packs to take home. They do limit the number of 4-packs you can buy for each beer, but again - all the varieties we bought were great. The beer isn't too expensive, $12.50/4-pack.

Alchemist is a stop you must make. The beer is incredible and it's located in a beautiful place! We were there to buy specific beers and wanted to make sure we got there early. We arrived about 30 minutes before opening hours on a Saturday and waited in line. The staff was very friendly and helpful. While we didn't stay because of the heat, there was a great area with a few games and space to relax.

This state of the art brewery is a must stop. Sample the beer at this beautiful location. Of course you can buy your favorite Alchemist beer even Heddy Topper. It sure is kid and dog friendly. This is a must visit especially during fall foliage season but any time is good for a great beer.

Modern, clean, beautiful tasting room with mountain and fall foliage views. Free tasters of Heady Topper!! Interesting artwork, tshirts, socks, etc for sale. Tasting area is standup only.

We stayed right up the road from this brewery. My husband has been dying to go. We only stood in line for 10 minutes. Really cool facility-definitely worth the stop!

One of the reasons for our trip to Vermont was to go to the Alchemist Brewing Co! Whole it's not a breeey that you would hang out for a day, it's totally worth the trip. Free samples, friendly and helpful staff, and of course great beer! Deserves the hype if you are a hoppy beer fan!

What more is there to say Heady/Focal/Crusher all available in the same place on the same day…no lines…certainly beats the holiday weekends were you are concerned if you will either get stuck in line of the beer runs out. New spot is beautiful, keep up the good work

Cool place, great beer!! Worth the stop if you are in Stowe. Even if you don't drink beer, grab someone you love that loves beer a pack of Heady Topper.

Such a cool place and very generous sample pours. Great selection of beers in cans to purchase. Cool glassware too!

The décor, vibe and atmosphere is brilliant. Lots of painted brewing containers, concrete, windows and t-shirts. The beer focus is New England hazy IPA. We live in Portland so have one or three to compare with. The beers are good and well worth stopping in to taste for free. Nice staff. Good beers

The place itself is inviting and the facilities look great, but once inside, we were taken aback by the strong smell of hops. Only three ales (IPAs) were available to sample on our visit and we could not try the many other different kinds of beers onsite. They should really have a sampling menu or a bar so visitors could try a wider variety of products. Unfortunately, my wife and I did not like the beers we sampled nor the ones we purchased. They were simply too bitter (hoppy) for our taste. The branding artwork is beautiful, however. We still think the Alchemist Brewery is worth a visit, but we probably won’t be back.

Having read about the Alchemist Brewery back in the UK, we simply had to come & visit.
It's very much a local brewery - 3 craft beers, distributed within a 25 mile radius (so we're not going to find this back at home in Warwickshire then???).
Sample their 3 beers: Focal Banger (7%), Heady Topper (8%) & The Crusher (9%). They are best drunk out of the can, as recommended by the brewer (so it's a shame that you drink samples from draft!).
All are super, so full of hops & malt from Yorkshire no less! Some of the best craft beers we've tasted!
You can buy pint cans @ the Brewery - $12.50 for 4 cans, which seemed very reasonable. Don't think they'll last till we get home to Blighty though -:)

My husband and I stopped at the Alchemist for the infamous Heady Topper. I am not a beer drinker, but since he knew it got such great reviews, he wanted to try the IPA. The brewery was fairly empty, due to the time of year we visited, but there were a few cars picking up orders. He bought several six packs of Heady Topper and Focal Banger, since we cannot get it in Pennsylvania. He definitely approved of the rating. He said it was some of the best IPA he's ever tried. We gave some to our friends who also agreed it was some of the best. Even if you're not a beer drinker, it's a cool building to visit.

Had to visit the brewery in Stowe Vt.
No tour.. just free samples of some of the best IPA's on the planet...Heady Topper is
Really good... but I fell in love with Focal Banger! The best IPA I. Ever had!
Yes I bought six four packs it's that good!
Worth the trip

My husband is a huge fan of The Alchemist, so when in Rome...
The facilities are beautiful and if it was an actual brewing day, it would have been neat to see the brewers do their thing. Of course we came home with some souvenirs including a cooler full of beer.

As a previous reviewer wrote, 15 minutes is all you really need here. If you are a fan of the craft beer world and the strong smell of hops, go for it.
The distillery offers free admission, and 3 beers to taste as well as some items (clothing, hats, etc.) for purchase and some very cool art work.

Do the tour. Well worth it. Lasts about an hour or so and samples are offered. They post what beers are being offered for the day and the limitations. They have cool looking T-shirt’s, sweatshirts, and hats in the store. Shane was a great tour guide. You even get to step into the cooler!

This little town had a lot to do we stayed st the stoweflake inn n this brewery is on attached property!
Love the heady topper and always have a friend try to get it for me on any trip to VT
Free samples was a very good way to be sure we loved what we were buying

The beer brewed by Alchemist is amazing, and it could be served out of a hole in the wall as far as I care, but this new location is big, open, laid back and just amazing all around. Makes for a great stop in Stowe, and is a must for any beer fan.

So lucky that we got there Friday evening around 6 and there were still Heady Topper left! First time in a canning brewery so it was interesting to see the machinery.

I am glad that they moved the brewery to Stowe as a lot of parking and easier to get to. The Heady Topper of course is amazing and we did not have to stand in line to buy it. Lots to sample and while a little bummed there isn't more of a formal tour, definitely a must stop every time we are in town.

We headed up to Stowe this week and stopped at The Alchemist. The building was really done right with plenty of space to stand and watch the canning line, enjoy the music (we happened to see a good blue-grassy group) and have a taste of the beer. Vermont has a lot of rules and I believe one of them is that establishments can't provide full servings of beer without serving food. So you can't get a pint unless you make many trips through the sample line. The atmosphere is fun and the employees all had big smiles. Get there early if you want you choice of beer for purchase.

If you are a fan of great beer, IPA's in particular, you must go here. The Heady Topper is the most well balanced IPA I've ever had. At 8% ABV, it is not too bitter or malty, and is not heavy at all. The Focal Banger at 7% ABV is perfect, slightly hoppier up front than the Heady, but it doesn't linger as long. It is a great facility, often with long lines. But the lines move quickly and you can have samples while your waiting. It is not distributed outside of Vermont. If you are anywhere near the area, you need to pay them a visit.

Had lunch at the Jamaican Food truck outside. Sampled a few of their beers they were really excellent. Really enjoyed their chill vibe inside. Super friendly staff!

We stopped in a week after the IceFest to try some of these much hyped beers.....and we were not disappointed! We had 3 generations of family with us, and the "non- beer drinkers" had fun running around the ice sculptures, and getting stickers from the friendly staff. The adults enjoyed several complementary tastes and we went home with lots and lots of delicious beers!

One of the must visit brewery in this region is the Alchemist.
They make several types of beers and they offer tasting bar for 3 of them. Good ones.. may not be the beat that I have had so far.
I love the cute little glasses that they serve the beers in.
Great live music was playing when we went there.

This was a main reason for our trip to Vermont and it was worth it. Staff is friendly, the building is interesting has a fun vibe, lots of merchandise available, and of course free beer samples !! Fantastic, delicious, smooth, hoppy wonderful beer! We were able to stock up on beer. They have a great system for keeping the line moving. It was fairly short when we were there anyway.

Great beer and location. The beer garden had a lot of seating and you could purchase a cab of your choice. Would be nice if they had more selection for purchase in the store.

Having been used to driving all over Vermont trying to nab Heady Topper the past few years, I was ecstatic to see that their new brewery had opened. In terms of keeping the large lines of beer lovers moving along, they have a huge advantage over other breweries. They only sell their three types of beers,in cans, and they are very organized in getting customers in and out pretty quickly, i.e. no long waits for growler fills. We got there just before it opened and, despite a line of at least 100, we were out in 20 minutes. Free samples for all three beers are offered while waiting. Highly recommended stop for beer lovers.

We loved this brewery. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. The beer was great. The scenery was so beautiful. This was one of the highlights of our trip.

We drove all the way out to Stowe to visit this brewery! It was a cold and rainy day and were surprised that there was no indoor seating available. We ordered our beer out at the small tent in the lawn and took a seat. Really wish the inside would have opened.
But…at the end of the day, what is better than a Heady Topper at the source!

This is a great little brewery which offers free tastings. It is famous for Heady Topper which is a very hoppy and delightful little brew. They also offer three or four other brews--all for free. You can then buy cases of the various libations right there on sight. There are T-shirts and even dog leashes with the logo. A fun little stop.

This Brewery is one of a kind! It has a cool atmosphere with a friendly vibe. They give out samples, and they ask for a donation instead of payment or tips. If you like IPA's this brewery is absolutely worth a stop.

Nice space, amazing view. Small little tasting room with 3 brews on tap and a small retail space. Not somewhere you'd spend a ton of time, but fun to check out for a few minutes.
Heady Topper is repeatedly ranked as one of the top beers in the world, and while it was tasty, I'm not quite sure I understand the hype. I prefer my IPAs to be a little juicier. But still a worthy beer. I guess it just depends on what you like.

Beautiful building. We got there 10 minutes before close so we couldn't do the tour, but amazed at how busy it was. I'm not an IPA person but actually LOVED the Heady Topper! Neat little place, great stop.

Alchemist Brewery was an awesome spot to visit. The picturesque landscape outside and the artwork all throughout the brewery make for a very cool atmosphere. They don't accept payment for tastings or tips, but they suggest a donation to the charity for that timeframe which is a really nice touch. And of course the beer is great!

If you visiting the Stowe area, a stop at The Alchemist is a must. Several different beers to sample while you are checking out the brewery. Beautiful building near Stowe resort.

We stopped at Stowe on a road trip to Rhode Island. Do the Alchemist tour, our tour guide Kenny was 👍 Very informative tour and inspiring to see the owners’ commitment to the environment and the Stowe community. Of course the beer was outstanding and freshly brewed!!

The Alchemist does beer right, pure and simple. When Hurricane Irene blew through and destroyed the old Alchemist pub in Waterbury we were all so sad to lose such a great place with excellent beer.
But lo and behold, they opened a brewery just outside of Waterbury to make Heady Topper. Fast forward a few years and we have a gorgeous brewery and visitors center in Stowe that is one of the most popular destinations in town. The place is impressive in every way. If you haven't tried their beers you just have to. Do yourself a favor. Now.

Went with friends to sample and buy beers. Heady Topper and Focal Banger are great. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff.

Heady Topper is rated as one of the best beers. Distribution is limited so I made "The Alchemist" a definite stop in the North East. However, there were only 3 samples available and can purchases. The beers were all great but the service was similar to 7-11. I asked about tours and the response I got was to check online. If you want the beer got to a store in the area.

This brewery is located in an absolute beautiful part of Vermont, it’s a shame that they don’t do more to encourage people to hang there - such as, food trucks, more outdoor games, etc. Obviously the beer speaks for itself. My husband was thrilled with that! The staff however was pretty flat and unfriendly. That’s a shame.

Other breweries have areas to relax - this pretty much is a place to go and pick up beer and bring it home. You can have a small taste but it’s not a place to linger and enjoy the beer. Beer is great of course.

Love Alchemist! & it is so much easier to get some Heady Topper now that they have a brewery you can visit. They offer samples also which is great! I only wish that had more seating so you could enjoy and stay for awhile.

Beer (Heddy Top) is excellent! However, no tours, can't go inside. Last week was a heat-wave. They did have a tent in their beer garden with tables and seating. It was soooo hot, though. We took some to-go in their very organized outside pick-up.

Great stop if you’re looking for hoppy beer 🍺 or just something to do for fun. On Dec 26th, infamous Rusty Dewees along with talented fiddle & guitar players filled the brewery with funky Christmas carols. The brewing & canning was in full swing adding a background of clip-clop as the cans were filled, then topped. Free samples of heady topper, focal banger & crusher.

This is a walk in beer tasting event which is free. Usually 3 beers are available on tap. Their Heddy Topper beer has been rated as the BEST in the nation. Heddy Topper is difficult to find in the area and always sells out quickly but is always available at the brewery - with a limit of two 4 packs.

Great brewery with good facilities to host people. Didn't do the tour but got some tasters (heady topper, crusher and focal banger). Information about the brewery and ingredients available on the walls. Nice to visit and buy the beers in can.

We came to get their outstanding beer. The line to buy beer extended well outside. You get a free sample of a beer and after a 30 minute wait, you get the privilege of buying their beer. Mind you, you are restricted as to how much you can buy!
But loved it -- lots of stuff you can buy and a peek into the brewery (which is spotless.)
This is a marketing phenomenon. Kudos to the owners. Fantastic beer and an exemplary following. Loved it. Check it out.

Very nice brewery to visit with awesome beers. Heady, Crusher and Banger were on tap on our visit and very good. The facility is very contemporary and roomy. Easy to get around and enjoy the scene. Worth a visit!

it says a lot when it is down pour raining and there was a hundred people in line for beer. A cool place with a great vibe

I am not really an IPA drinker, so the beer was far from my first choice. If you like the higher IBU or hoppy style, this is the place for you!

Easy to get a samples of the different beers they have. Had merchandise you could buy and quick checkout of cases of beer. Gave the kids stickers. My husband loves this place. Wish they had kegs.

I was in town on business and booked an after work hours tour in advance. Great place and the tour was excellent. The guide was patient and very knowledgeable.
I liked the beers we sampled. The grounds are beautiful. I stopped earlier in the week and grabbed lunch at the beer garden as well as gifts for family.
It’s a must while in the area.

Very interesting take on a brewery. Been to a few and this is the first one I’ve ever been to that offers free samples (up to three). They have a decent amount of yard games and are dog friendly. I wish they had more beers on tap and the ability to go out and drink while playing the yard games. Otherwise it was a great trip.

Stopped here while visiting Stowe for two days. I've always heard about Heady Topper, but never had one. Finally had the chance, and I was not disappointed. An absolutely wonderful IPA that exceeded my expectations, especially since it is only available in cans. Enjoyed my 30 minute or so visit to this little visitors center/store. Had a few samples, and took a few 4 packs home to PA. Found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stop here again, even if just for the the take out beer.

My husband and I are beer "snobs" and had heard about this beer that wasn't available in our area. So on our trip we made a drive to the brewery and we were very happy not only with the location but also the beer. They have a beautiful location and they have a great visitor center. We were able to try the beer then buy it there also. They had a line out the door before we left which was only 15 minutes after they opened.

We found this to be an unusual brewery. #1 is that beer is only sold in cans. Typically when we visit breweries, we like to get flights so we can sample several beer, or at least get a taste of a beer before ordering a pint. #2 this brewery is only open until 6 pm. The artwork throughout the building is a lot of fun. There is a great outdoor space as well. The beer we had was good but they did not sell that kind for take out.

The Alchemist is fast becoming the go to attraction in Stowe, and for good reason.
They only serve samples and no food. They just retail their beer and merchandise. You don't have to be a "hop head" to enjoy their beers. They have a lot of variety, from stouts to red ales to lighter brews, along with world famous Heady Topper, that I had when it was a new brew at the original pub in Waterbury, VT a few years ago.
Prices are reasonable. Take in the artwork, the beautiful grounds and the happy feel of the whole place. I mean, what's to complain about?! It's great beer! Be happy!

Made a early trek to get there as close to opening as possible (my boyfriend had read stories of the parking lot opening at 10 AM and the brewery being mobbed at 11 AM upon opening). Clean and aesthetically pleasing, you're corralled through the brewery by ropes, sample beer, meandering through merchandise with the end stop being the cash registers to buy their beer in cans (bring a cooler, they have to stay cold!). We were in and out in around 20 minutes -- wish they had picnic tables outside for weary travelers like us to take a break on.

My wife made a reservation on a Wednesday afternoon. When we walked in, we stopped at the hostess station. I said “we have a reservation”— she asked for the name, I glanced at her IPad and said “it’s the top one”— and gave my wife’s name.
Hostess was upset, put her hand over the list and asked again. I have our name again.
Apparently she wasn’t happy I looked at her iPad and said “if the person who REALLY made that reservation shows up, they’re going to be upset!”
I offered that we would show ID to prove who we are— at which point the hostess informed me that I was causing trouble by looking at her IPad.
I mean, what kind of crazy hostess power trip are we dealing with here?
Are there THAT MANY people lying about reservations to have a beer? Give me a break.
After she walked us over to a table she said “table reservations are for a strict 90 minutes— which we enforce”.
At that point I’d had enough and we walked out, not a chance I’m ever drinking another Alchemist beer if that’s how customers are treated. You make good beer, but I’ll ask all my Stowe friends to avoid the place.

Love this place. Best beer of earth, and people working there are not far behind. Very friendly atmosphere and prices are very reasonable!! Can't wait to come back, thanks for the experience

I loved my visit to The Alchemist Brewery. Took a tour of the brewery and found out how much the owners are trying to reuse and recycle as much as possible. Having a couple of beers in the beer garden while listening to some live music made for a relaxing afternoon. And of course a curbside pickup order was made as well

All the heady toppy, focal banger and crusher you can drink on tap, what’s not to like about unlimited samples in beautiful glassware. Good times !

The beer brewed from here is highly desired by beer geeks. My husband calls it the Mecca of breweries. The staff was very friendly and even though the place has a line as soon as the doors are open, they get you in and serviced quickly. It's a must visit for any beer enthusiast. Go early as they often sellout quickly of their popular choices.

Gorgeous view behind building. Free samples of three different beers. All were excellent! Nice gift shop with unique T-shirts.

It is really cool inside this brewery and you can stand and watch the cans being filled. They were handing out free samples of Heady Topper, Focal Banger, and one other but I did not try that. Heady Topper is one of the highest rated beers in the world so this place is a must visit for any beer enthusiast. You can also pick up cans of any of their beers and apparel from the store inside.

A great place to stop in and pick up the awesome beers made famous by John and Jen. Bring some home to your beer geek friends; this stuff is hard to come by outside of Vermont and easy to see why the locals keep it for themselves. Plus they have great t-shirts and other stuff that makes great gifts for anyone.

A little bummed that we could not do a beer tasting since they only serve out of cans rather than tap. The beer I got was not really to my liking but I had a fully can pour so I was stuck. Not the experience I want when going to a brewery. Though my husband loved the heady topper.

Pretty cool spot. The group we were with really wanted to visit this place as they've heard good things about the beer (being from the south that's impressive). It's brand new but tasting/hang out area is relatively small. They have tasting glasses or you can buy pints on an honor system and you pay, in theory, at the end. May want to switch that system up down the line. Had a DJ while we were there too. So they have that from time to time. But it is a cool spot and if you're into craft beer a must visit while in Stowe.

Holy Cow (one of their beers by the way), I finally made it to The Alchemist! Nice facility, still looks brand new, but over 2 years old at this point. Shows me they really take care of the place.
Generous amounts when handed samples of their beer. Three on tap when we were there; Heady Topper, Focal Banger, and Crusher today, but I bet that rotates.
Oh yeah, did I mention that those were free samples? I had just left a cider mill that charged $2 for a flight, with each cup containing almost one tablespoon... so this was a refreshing change.
Now let me warn you, this is high quality brew. You aren't buying a 30 pack of Bud for $20 here. You're going to put down some more serious cash for a case of this libation.
There's a proper amount of swag for purchase in the tasting room; T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, button-ups, sweatshirts, jackets, glasses, coozies, and more. They even had disc golf discs if that's what you're into.
And hey, how about some free swag? Grab a few free stickers while your waiting for your samples.
There's no food served here, but if you like BBQ, walk across the yard and grab some righteous smoked protein from the Sunset Grille & Tap Room.
Glad we finally made it to Stowe. Hope you enjoy if you ever make it here.
Cheers!

I was told that I must go here and try a Heady Topper IPA. I don't care for IPAs, but I was assured it wasn't too hoppy (spoiler alert: it's very hoppy). We arrived at 5 pm on a Friday, could only buy a 4 pack (and turned out I hated it, it's not a bad beer, just not for me, but now I was stuck with 3 more). There was a live band and games on the lawn, and just as we sit down at about 5:30 pm, the live band shuts down, the chairs are being stacked and people are starting to leave. A brewery that closes at 6 pm on a Friday? Odd experience overall.

If you ever have the pleasure of finding yourself in Stowe, Vermont, a stop at Alchemist Brewing is an absolute MUST. You are greeted as you walk in by Mel, who is super welcoming, super cool and embodies Pride from head to toe. Friendly and inviting, you will want to drink a beer or two, and stay a while. Phenomenal beer, staff and music….what more could you ask for?

If you love scenic beauty and beer you should definitely visit the alchemist brewery in Stowe Vermont. In a word awesome. You can sample most of the beers they make at their world class facility its worth the trip.
Going back this weekend looking forward to trying their brand new beer "Crusher" I'll let you know when I return , But I know it's going to be awesome

I had this stop pegged for months on a map so when the time finally come to check it out. I had a hard time not getting anxious. Everyone in the know of true quality craft beer will all agree The Alchemist excels in amazing IPAs and set the bar for fresh, hazy, hoppy beers. To taste for free(tip the staff, though👍) and then take home this piece of perfection was a one of my highlights during our trip of Vermont. A lot of choices in Stowe area for quality beer but The Alchemist is the pinnacle in my opinion.

Alchemist's new production plant is interesting and attractive with all the facets one would want including useful gifts (and beer). Must see on the "Beer Trail."

Dont get me wrong, Heady Topper and Focal Banger are good but I do think they are creating the demand intentionally by restricting people from buying it! That being said, of course I bought the maximum amount of each. Nice selection of souvenirs and free samples :) Close to Mountain Road.

The beer is just amazing and the servers are professional. No warm homey glow here, but the BEER, isn't that why you came anyway? The barrel art and the displays are super cool. A MUST stop if you are in the area!

Upon entering, a strong smell hit us. It was the smell of ingredients and a nose shock (not a bad thing).
One of our party really liked the beer and another gave it a 3.
Nice big open building.

Booked three weeks in advance in order to do the guided tour. Very nice and modern facilities. Warm welcoming if you do come for the guided tour. There was a lot of people queuing for the store/tasting samples. Unfortunately they were out of HeadyTopper (signature beer) at 3pm on that Saturday. Fortunately...I had chance that morning and found some at a nearby retailer. The tour was ok. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Maybe this tour could be more dynamic and organized. We must say we weren’t awaken after a 4hrs hike we just came back from. Ultimately I would say...it’s all about the beer. The visit was ok but there not much to see.

This is one of our favorites in Vermont. Worth the drive and the beer is great. I wish they sold pint glasses as I collect them and the logos are great.

My husband has been dying to go to The Alchemist. We were skiing Stowe and staying at the Spruce Creek Lodge. While I had no intention of leaving the resort, I know he had been scheming how he could get to the brewery. As soon as I said I was going to the pool, he arranged to take a cab from the hotel there. I decided to join last minute. Honestly, I prefer wine over beer, but I have total FOMO (fear of missing out). What a fun experience, laid back people and lots of cute dogs inside! They let you sample three beers while there. There's an area inside the brewery where you can buy beer to take home. He bought two cases and couldn't wait to get back to the hotel and put them in the refrigerator. Also, when we checked out the next day, he was just as careful to make sure the valet took the beer straight to our car while we skied all day so it would stay cold! He was totally into it and I'm glad I went along. Fun place and great beer (if you are a beer drinker!)

Got my 3 samples: Heady, Focal Banger and The Crusher. Bought a shirt and my beer and was gone in 30 mins. Not too busy during the week, definitely the best time to go.

If you enjoy a good beer you need to visit The Alchemist. We took the tour they offer and we were not disappointed. When you take the tour they give you a sampling glass. They gave us samples on the tour and you can get free samples after the tour as well. We truly enjoyed ourselves and purchased beer as well.

I was very disappointed in my visit to the Alchemist. I arrived on a Saturday evening, making a special trip to Stowe to enjoy the famous beer. The brewery closed at 7 p. and I arrived at around 6:15. My free sample of Heady Hopper was excellent but just a few sips in the glass. The other offerings, in my opinion, were just so-so. Here's what made me mad. They were out of Heady Hopper to sell. I went to all that trouble and nada but a couple of free samples of their top brew. Why don't they make enough to satisfy customers?? At my hotel, I was told that this was a common problem with the Alchemist. So beware of this place if you arrive in the last hour, and also note there is no place on premises to sit around and drink, or at least there wasn't in late September, there was no cheese or munchies either that I saw, I'm not sure if a bottle of Heady Hopper is as good as draft either. My advice is not to bother with this place unless you already have plans for Stowe.

if you like heady topper, or focal banger then you don't have many places to get your favorite beer. if you are in Stowe, VT you can go to the brewery (we usually go 20 min before they open), wait in a short line - get your beer and then go enjoy it :)

I was very impressed with this showy facility. We stopped in to see what the hype was all about. On a Saturday morning around 11:15am, this place was already hopping. (Pun intended.) We sampled three of their beers - all IPAs - despite the early time. Most people were buying multiple four packs of the beer to-go. It is too bad that you cannot enjoy a full pint at the brewery. However, the samples were free and generous. I bought one single can to go along with a couple of things from the retail side. I was flying home and couldn't bring more. Drats! I will look for this beer in the future. Best beer we tried in Vermont.

Don't make a special trip to get Heady Topper because chances are they will be sold out. We arrived early Saturday afternoon around 3 pm and we had the sample of the beers but they were already sold out of Heady Topper.

Beer samples are excellent. They have cans for sale with offerings changing by day. Check their website if you are looking for something particular. They have outside events some nights. Schedule available on their website. Beautiful location

If you enjoy a good beer and you are in the area you must stop by the Alchemist! The new building is a lovely addition to Stowe. The tasting room is full of unique artwork and beer stuff. The free tasting of their beer is a nice treat. You can but their beer in cans there but there are limits to how much each person can purchase. When in Vermont you have to try a Heady Topper or a Focal Banger, their signature beers!

Heady has always been one of my favorites, but I like some of their other IPAs even better! Great building, fast moving lines. Worth the trip.

I've been waiting patiently for the brewery to open so that I can get my hands on Heady Toppers easier. That wish came true and now I don't have to make several stops to get my hands on Heady.
They are super fast at moving the line and the merch they have is awesome. Get hoodies, T-shirts, coozies, stickers and other items to show your love for this great brewery.
THANK YOU FOR OPENING!!!
KEEP UP THE GREAT BREWS!!!

We visited the brewery since we have heard so much about the beer. It was really good and you get 3 samples. But that’s really all that is there. Beautiful location so I wished they were able to use more of their outdoor space for while enjoying the beer.

Really cool brewery with unique beers. They had samples of some of their flagship beers for free. You could also purchase more adventurous beers to take home. Tours are offered for a price. The staff was extremely friendly.

Alchemist Beers is famous for its small batches of great beer in this microbrewery. They don’t distribute outside of Vermont and this hard-to-get status makes it a perfect souvenir to bring home for yourself or any beer geek friends. I recommend getting the maximum allowance, it never disappoints. It is always worth having this beer in my fridge for a special treat, great swag too.

We were told this was a place to stop. We tried some samples (free) you can donate to some of the local causes - you should. The beer is really good - we tried some and took a few four packs to go. Also bought a shirt or two for the kids. Beers we liked were the Heady Topper and the Focal Banger. Both very enjoyable.

They set your expectations and let you know how long you'll be waiting. We had to wait about an hour, standing outside, but it moved quickly. They have it very organized and let you know exactly what you can purchase the day you are there (they have allotments). Once inside you can having tasting of whatever you like. They have some really cool gear and merch on sale as well.
The beer is simply worth the wait and in a weird way makes the beer that much better.

Friendly staff, excellent beer, and very nice brewery. Very nice inside. My wife and I will come back the next time we visit Stowe,VT.

A disinterested observer might say there's not much to drink and certainly nothing to eat here. But that would miss the point. This is a beer lover's shrine, and the beers, no matter what the available selection, are just top class. This time, in addition to the unbeatable Heady Topper and Focal Banger (my favorite), we bought some Holy Cow, a very suppable "light" (5.2%) American IPA that knocks the socks of any session IPA's I have had recently. The people that work here clearly just love what they do. With fine outdoor weather, the grassy area outside is a fun area for games and picnics (though no beers allowed).

We were lucky we did not need reservations in mid-November on a Wed. evening as they are usually booked out. Home of Heady Topper. Great beers. I liked the Donovan's Red Ale the best. Great tour in a all new "green" facility. Very thoughtful about the beer, the employees and any by-products. Loved it. Make reservations and enjoy. There is a $10 per person fee, money goes to a charity.

We spent about 30 minutes here sampling Heady Topper and the two other beers on draft. Samples were free. They also sell many types of beer in cans as well as merchandise. Well worth stopping in!

Staff was extremely rude, management couldn’t be bothered. Very disappointed especially after coming from far away.

I drove 12 hours to get here, because I wanted to try their beer, and I love to visit breweries. nice sample room, they have Frisbee golf on the property, and beautiful views.

Beautiful brewery. Great brews, but only get to sample. Great artwork on tshirts and labels. This place would be a great venue to sit and drink a beer, Pretty disappointed we had to leave and go home and drink. Beer MUST be kept cold or it will spoil. Would like to take to travel, but wouldn't ant to risk it spoiling. Nice fresh beer.

Stopped by early in the day. There was already a line (as was to be expected) but it was organized and moved smoothly. Got in, got tastings, got beer, got hot sauce, left and went for lunch! And, yes, I did say hot sauce and it is amazing. In the unlikely event that the whole fantastic beer thing doesn't work out, they have a fall back in the hot sauce!

The last time we were at the Alchemist 4 years ago they were located in a much smaller location. This place is great. There are no tours but they have the 3 IPAs on tap to try and an area with high tops to stand around and taste. Sure they could offer something to eat other than cheese. Sure they could do tours and sure they could have a bigger sit down area but they don't need to because they have the most delicious beer on the planet.
I think the lines and availability are luck of the draw. We were in Stowe on a Tuesday, Wed and Thursday. Each day we arrived for our max allotment of Heady Topper, Crusher and Focal between 12-2 pm. Tuesday was the longest line but even then it was not out the door. We never experienced a sell-out or a line longer than 7-10 people. I overhead them saying that there wasn't much Heady left on Tuesday afternoon when we were there around 2. The retail sales people selling beer were efficient and the tasting pourers were unbelievably friendly and nice.
I shouldn't have to tell you to stop here for beer. You should know to do so. Bring a big cooler. Cold cans only. They sell t-shirts and such as well if you are into that stuff.

We stopped by on our way to checking in at Mountainside Resort. Free samples of beer! Glasses for purchase are awesome!

We visited 7 breweries while in the area, and this was the most beautiful! Hubby isn't an IPA fan, so he tried a can of Sterk Wit, while I drank a hand pulled Heady Topper.
The tasting room had just opened up the week before for a soft opening-prior to that people got beer from a very steady line of drive-up, and drank outside in the Biergarten. The Biergarten is now closed.
We sat right next to where they were canning beer-and it was a pretty fascinating process. There were a LOT of workers that day.
When it came time to buy beer, we bought 2 4-packs of Heady Topper and Focal Banger. Our friend wanted us to buy Crusher...which the worker told us came out the next morning! Missed it by that much... We also did not understand that they only can certain beers-so we could only buy what they had available for purchase that day.
Absolutely love their tip protocol. They say that since their workers are paid a living wage-they donate all tips to 13 organizations throughout the year. Way to go Alchemist!
Great place-we can't buy their beer in NY, and they like it that way!!
If you're in the area-stop in! They do close by 6PM-so not meant to be a late night place.

I was worried about spending hours lining up for beer, but to my surprise on a Wednesday noon hour I just strolled right in. Maybe 30 people wandering about. Friendly staff giving samples. I was in and out in 15 minutes with my beer, t-shirt and a few souvenir coasters.

Fun place to visit. On Saturday there was a 3 man jazz group playing. On weekdays between 2-3:30 weg Ave yet to encounter a line to buy. Usually they offer three beers on tap to taste. After visiting a few times and tasting their complimentary draughts sample and their canned brews at home be aware that they do taste different. There is a reason the cans say drink from the can and not a glass - you lose so much aroma & taste that I decided to no longer sample the draughts. On the other hand it is fun to read the signs about malt, yeast and hops, breathe in the healthy aromas and ask questions of the staff with free brew sample in hand. We asked Brent many questions about how The Alchemist brews so many different tasting brews. His answers were clear and instructive. Go ahead, visit and ask for yourself.

Apparently this is a well-known, hard to get outside New England, great tasting beer. Who knew?! The tasting room is cleaner than most places I’ve been on the planet. You can watched the beer being canned while you sip and relax. It’s also a certified B Corp. There’s a nice outdoor seating area but you can’t take the samples outside. You just have to get the best of both worlds, not at the same time.

Great atmosphere, great beer. It closes at 6 so you have to be there early. People are so friendly. Lots of lawn games and an outdoor bar. Highly suggest.

Went here during the off season and it was nice. No wait and able to get parking. The samples was good. My friend enjoy his as well

Made the 3 hour trek up to Stowe on a Friday for a little beer safari. The Alchemist's new facility is impressive for sure, like a huge barn with their tanks and canning line running down the center. Inside the entrance they've got merchandise, a tasting area, and a well thought out point of sale area. Obviously their Heady Topper offering is the go to attraction but don't overlook Focal Banger and Crusher, both are very good in their own right. They do have limits on purchases per person so be aware.
hint: We arrived a little after 3:30p on a Friday and were able to park, walk right in, grab a couple cases, and be on our way. When we left at 4p the parking area was almost full (majority out of State vehicles) and there was a line forming inside. So, if you can, arrive early to mid afternoon on Fridays to avoid the rush and possibly being shut out.

For anyone who enjoys craft beer, a pilgrimage must be made here. A few samples are available, but there is no bar or tour of the facility; but let's be honest, it's the beer that brought you here and they live up to the hype. If you're traveling from a distance, as we did, make sure to bring a cooler if you plan to purchase cans as all beers are unpasteurized and must be kept cold!

Beer was great, tough that you can only try three on site and that there isn't much space inside, but I get it. Good for a stop and to pick up some brews but you can't spend an afternoon there. That seems like a conscious choice though.

Handy place. Excellent beers (like some of american most known beers). Great tasting, and good exploring of new venues too. We didn't stay for the free tastings, but next time I will. Got myself a soap, as i like homebrew smells and I'm not disappointed so far.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable visit. A winter's Monday lunchtime visit : no lines! Super friendly staff offering free pours can also buy an 8oz drink for $4. We enjoyed watching the canning process close up and then indulged with a few cases of the best IPAs imaginable. Everyone will have their own favorite but I was blown away by the Focal Banger.

We needed some Heady Toppers to take home and this is the place to go. There was no line for samples - 3 beers on tap and we quickly made it through the line and back again to try all three. The beer to go is sold in limited quantities. (2 four packs of Heady Topper on this day) - so we made multiple trips during the week of our stay. A great pit stop during our week in Stowe!

if you like driving hours to drink canned beer then this spot is for you. very disappointing after this is their second location (opportunity to scale up), the tap room is small and poorly setup for traffic. The hand-pulled heady topper is better than the can version, which means all their beer should be on tap (also, no one says "hand-pulled"). Also, to move their location further toward Stowe shows their loyalty to tourism, rather than locals. Would not recommend to anyone who actually cares about craft beer. I have 2 stars only because their beer actually does taste good, but who tf goes to a brewery to drink it from the can?!

Oh Alchemist!
“I do not like IPAs!...I do not like IPAs.” ” Here try a Heady Topper”…”Take my Money!”
Yes, I didn’t use to like IPAs, but there was something about the beers at the Alchemist that changed my entire perception. We had the opportunity to visit the brewery/tasting room while vacationing in VT and it was quite a different experience compared to other tasting rooms.
The tasting room is gorgeous and very spacious. Guests can sample three different beers on tap. The pours are very generous, given one at a time, but you are able to taste all three (Heady Topper, Focal Banger, Crusher) throughout a relaxing visit while standing/chatting at high top tables. All their beers are able to be purchased at the brewery, but there are limits to the number of 4packs permitted to be purchased. I recommend bringing a cooler since all their beer is sold cold and it is recommended to keep it chilled. If you forget or didn’t know, there is a convenience store in town that sells Styrofoam coolers.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stop at the Alchemist! The overall relaxed atmosphere and the generous tasting pours created a vibe that makes me want to drive the 8+ hrs back to visit again.

We took the tour, which included 1 can of beer and souvenir glass. Fred our tour guide was great. We learn about the process, their commitment to the environment and giving back to the community with scholarships to local seniors.
The place was busy, lots of families and dog friendly. They had a food truck outside and people were playing games, a live band too.

Cool place to visit. No tasting room but they give out samples. Staff friendly and informative. You can buy beer there to take home.

This property is great. When you arrive you que up for a sample while waiting to purchase beer to go or drink outside.
You can bring snacks and enjoy the view.

The beer was excellent and the vibes were just as great! Great grass area to hang out, with plenty of space to stretch out. The beer is some of the best I’ve ever had.

We are big fans of the Alchemist and have been waiting for years for the new brewery to open. We visited on a Thursday in December and had the place to ourselves. The guy doing the tastings was very friendly and showed us around while explaining everything. We purchased the max amount of each of the 3 beers and left very happy!

Just came back from one of my best trips ever. Got Heady from the source because
all other stores in the green mountain state were sold out. It was the first time visiting in summer and it wasn't a circus as advertised. (Sorta bummed about no freaks) paid the hostess and was through the line in two minutes. Not bad for a Friday afternoon in peak season. We were invited to sample three different brews by perhaps the kindest person in the State. The young lady new her beer and was very knowledgeable about the surrounding businesses and helped us out to get to them. We would recommend bringing a cooler with ice and leaving a few minutes to talk with other people. Everyone was friendly and from all over the country. Can't wait to visit again.

After a longish highway slog, getting off onto the secondary roads and arriving at this beautiful location was a great, great way to kick off our visit to Northern Vermont. I didn't even realize the grumpiness I had been harboring until I stepped out of the car into the afternoon sunshine and inhaled a big double lungful of the country mountain air. Combine that feeling with delicious beer and you have the ingredients for a complete mood transformation!
I was so impressed by the gorgeous space and the hospitality of the staff. The free beer samples are served in very nice glassware, which is befitting the world class brews on offer. They also have a great selection of reasonably-priced merch for the hophead in your life.
There's some very interesting brewery artifacts and info to look over while you enjoy your samples; slow down and look around!

We have been fans of the Heady Topper for a long time and we decided to add a stop in Waterbury this time. What a great service was a tad on the cold side as they don't need to be nice with you, they just need to keep producing high quality beer for the masses to show. Very modern, they let you taste 3 beers without a fee and then there's a limited amount of beer you can purchase. We'll surely go again.

Amongst beer afficionado's this place is just about nirvana. People come from all around the east to get their ales. This is a new facility with state of the art brewing equipment. Supply is limited, it is distributed locally only and is, I would say a little quirky. They are best known for their Heddy Topper which is an American Double IPA which is to say it is very hoppy. In fact all of their ales tend to be very hoppy. They do have a tasting bar and a retail shop which is always crowded. Other ales are "Focal Banger", a hoppy stout called Beelzabub and an imperial stout- with not too much hops called Luscious. Quantities here, like in the retail stores that carry it limit quantities. And btw, the goods are not cheap. Expect to pay about $15.00 for a 4 pack - of 16 oz cans. Its a fun stop and people are passionate about this product. One story goes, that a guy that was on his honeymoon, is reputed to have left his wife at the hotel in Montreal drove 2.5 hours south, picked up a supply and drove the 2.5 hrs back to his bride in waiting! It is good stuff. Enjoy.

This is an amazing building for a microbrewery, very large, white and modern, and not at all what I expected. Inside it was still white, soul less, and with no seating, just a tasting bar and a second bar where people buy beer to take away (to go, as they say). What a great shame they don't have a bar where you can actually drink the stuff, because it was to my mind, three of the best beers I drank on my holiday there. Quite superb, although the tastings were tiny.

Beer was as expected. Heady is overhyped. Wish they had some better food options and staff was friendlier, but overall a fine place to stop

Great vibe, excellent free samples. The evening we went there was live music adding to the rich atmosphere these guys have created. If you're a beer lover make this your first stop in the Stowe area.

This place was a God send when it opened, as it used to be so tough to get Heady Topper and their other brews.
Class operation. Friendly staff, good prices, and obviously, incredible beer! Also, the company does an outstanding job keeping their website and social media outlets up to date.
If you love high end beer, you need to check this place out!

Came on a Tuesday morning and only a few other patrons. Loved the design theme of the tasting center. Helpful and friendly staff.

Good selection of excellent draft beers in a great Stowe location. You can sit inside the beer cafe or outside on the lawn where kids can play while adults enjoy beer. Next door Warren’s Kitchen food truck has a good selection of food options. Highly recommended.

Amazing experience. Service, atmosphere, the cocktails 10/10. Don't bother reading reviews just go there.

One of the best smaller independent breweries that I’ve ever been to. Amazing atmosphere, live music, great food and their beer is some of the best in the United States. They make everyone feel very welcome at their brewery and beer garden. We will definitely come back for a visit when in the Stowe, Vermont area. Thank you for sure a fantastic day.

I really enjoyed my visit to Alchemist and feel like a rating of 3 is too low. But I don't think I can give a 4. Nice looking lobby area/store and appreciate getting samples of 3 beers. I was glad to purchase packs and gear to go. But it's just a store front. Don't expect a brewery or brewpub visit. Don't expect cell service. Definitely stop here, but for 10 minutes to pick up your beer and go.

My friend and I made the road trip here from New Jersey and the five hour drive was worth it. Every single person who was there had a huge smile on their face. No matter what the ratings say, nothing beats the Heady Topper.

The parking lot opens at 10am, we arrived about 1030 and were ~20th in line. Lines move fast and able to get a sample of one of their 3 main IPAs as well as purchase all of the available cans before they sold out. Beer is fantastic and prices are reasonable

We had a great visit to the Alchemist recently. It was nice coming here during a midweek in April. Perfectly quiet and chill, we had the run of the place. We enjoyed plenty of free samples and the guys pouring were down to earth and friendly. Coming here is kind of a novelty yes, but the beer is really tasty. It is worth the trip here if you are in Stowe.

This brewery has a lot to be snobby about but you won't get attitude here! We arrived Saturday morning at 10:30 expecting to wait until 11:00 when the tasting room opened to buy the beer but they were already open. We breezed into the line which started with a tasting of Heady Topper, Focal Banger and Pappy's Porter and continued directly into the beer purchasing line. It went fast. They organized all the beers from behind the counter and even took them to my car. Everyone was super friendly too. Now I'm looking forward to drinking some amazing and fresh VT beer at home!

We visited first thing on a Wednesday in June. We got there around 10:40 and the building was already open and people were buying beer. We thought it wouldn't open until 11:00 but it was a nice surprise that it was opened early. After reading other reviews, we were concerned that we'd be waiting 30-60 minutes just to get a chance to buy beer. When we got there a total of about 15-20 people were there and there was no line for samples or for purchasing.
Understand that there's no tour here. Just the opportunity to taste and buy their product. We were hoping to see their canning process going, but they said they only do that 2 or 3 times a week. If you're interested in seeing that call ahead to see when it is actually happening.
We only spent about 30-45 minutes there. Enough to sample what they were offering, look around a bit and buy our share of beer. Overall, we enjoyed our stop and were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait.

I've had heady topper not being at the brewery by trades and special pick ups but man picking up 200$ worth of VT's best beer was hands do thewn the best experience. The have the infamous Heady topper IPA, Focal Banger, hallenbeck and green crush which is a double IPA and man the beer is awesome. It is definitely a must see when in the area... We drove 5 hours just to get this beer !!

I was told this place is a must as a beer place and it is.
Nice,clean modern industrial !
You can see part of the impressive installation right in front of you,
as you try 3 free beer samples. The art work on the installation is really cool !
They beer is good but thats a matter of taste they are mostly IPA beers I believe.
There is lots of merchandising sold here which many seem to like and of course plenty of beer to stock up on ;-) If you like this review please click on the thumbs up :-)

Immensely enjoyed our visit. You can sit inside, outside under an awning or out on ther expansive grounds. Only place to get Heady on draft which was a treat. Beer is very reasonably priced You can only get beer in a can. So no flights, no tasting etc but that's okay . There was one food truck which was good but limited options . Ample parking, convenient and easy location to find. Great time!

I personally am not a beer drinker but my friends love this brewery. However, as a graphic designer I appreciated all of the artwork located at this facility. Definitely stop by if you are in the area for free samples and to look at the artwork.

After the road over the mount came down on flatter roads we came to these silos. They're worth a few pictures and a walk around. Nobody likes beer so we skipped the brewery.

Went on the tour which is a must! Very informative! Plus get a free cup and a can of beer to take home.
Large outside area to chill and play corn hole.

The only disappointment I have is that this is a tasting only place. I would loved to have sat and put back a few heddy toppers. Place is great thought. A new beer I can add to my list. Kids loved it and they don’t mind kids. Definitely a stop anytime I come up here

Such an awesome brewery!! Great IPAs with 3 to taste. The coveted outdoor patio is small but perfect to sit and relax and the yard are with frisbee golf is perfect for all ages. Worth stopping in for a taste and to pick up cans to go

I live in Montreal and I do the trip to The Alchemist at least once a year (about 2.5 hours drive) and it is always a pleasure to go there. Although, I have to say the service is maybe only ok; I mostly come for the quality of the beers, which are really good (and insane for the price).
Last time I went, there was live jazz music and a couple of different games we could play outside, all of this while enjoying one of their beers on site. This particular time was indeed really amazing!
I recommend the beer, but if you can buy it in a beer store, I don't think you're missing out on THAT much.

The Alchemist brewery is finally open. The new building is huge and resembles a modern church. It is tucked off the road- if you go by Darkside Sports you passed it. When we visited they had a couple of beers to sample for free- -one of which was heady topper and another was focal banger. If you like double IPAs this is the place for you. You can see a little bit of the bottling process as you try the samples. You can also buy all of their beers there as well. Enjoy!

In summer it can be mobbed here but in a mid week winter visit, it was great to not fight off the crowds. The only bummer is that the sampling (unlike say Hill Farm) is just of the 2 or maybe 3 beers they have - you can't actually order beer to drink. Lots of fun products (sweatshirts, caps, hats) for sale - we tried the new stout (too light for me, but good for someone who likes a lighter/tasty stout) and the Heady Topper. We really came to get the beers you can only buy here like Crusher, my favorite, as it's like Heady with a bit more alcohol and a very strong hop flavor. Also picked up some Focal Banger, coasters and a very cool tin sign for my friend's bar and some beer glasses. Not much to do but for picking up beer, it was awesome.
Loved the bathroom art too.

Met a guy at Wompatuk State Park in Hingham, Massachusetts. He said do you like beer. I said, "Yes". He said, "We're you going from here?" And I said, "Vermont". He said, "You like IPA?" I said, "Yes!" He said, "Man, you gotta go to The Alchemist in Stowe and get the Heady Topper. You'll be sorry if you don't. It is the best IPA in the USA." So . . . I did. Stood in line five minutes got the Topper and damn, I shoulda got more.

There were three couples in our group and only one of us was a fan of the beer. Not much to do there if you're not a beer drinker.

This may be a small batch company but there ideas are not !
This brewery has just what we all need this HOLIDAY SEASON !
That love that goes into there beer shows !

Thankfully there was free samples. We went here based off of recommendations from friends who really like their products. However very quickly found out that it was not the beer for us. It was very hoppy and bitter for our taste. The building was very nice with the open concept so you could see the beer as it was brewed.

In all honesty, and I know I'm in the minority, but I didn't like their beer. I'm not a big fan of IPAs. That being said, the employees were very nice. Building was great with plenty of room inside and out. Free samples. Plenty of parking. So even though I didn't like the beer, still giving them 5 stars.

We didn’t get to experience everything at Alchemist due to COVID. Bars and microbreweries are still closed. However they have drive through microbrew pick up. We purchased 4 different micro brews. They are sold in 4 packs so we had a total of 16 cans. Sorry I can’t remember all the names. It was very good. We drank it all in three days. We will be back when they are fully open again.

If you are an IPA fan, you already have heard of The Alchemist. The beer here is phenomenal; it's worth a trip to Vermont! Be sure to check the website to see what's on tap and the buying limit, and bring your cooler.Expect a line and a crowd, but all moves along quickly You can taste the beers and buy cans to fill your cooler. Wonderful beers!

Drove to Stowe for only one reason: to buy Heady Topper. There is a tasting room that offers four beers on any day. All four-ounce samplers, so the amount to sample was sufficient to get a decent taste. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant. Before I left PA, I downloaded the website information about where to purchase their beer, but the website provided bad information. Hopefully, the company reads these reviews and makes necessary changes so others won't make the same mistakes I made in attempting to purchase these beers.

The high alter of new england ipa's. Loved every minute there. Facility is beautiful. Staff are all very friendly and helpful.

WOW! This place is beautiful!! The covered patio and lawn is just amazing. I had "Go to Hell" light beer and it was delicious. They only have ONE beer on tap-which I thought was a little odd for a brewery-but they have a lot of canned beers. Didn't eat there as we already ate lunch. Highly recommend this stop!!

We found this place by accident and glad we did. Perfect gift for the husbands! They have a variety of specialty brews so you are certainly getting something unique.

Great beer if you are an IPA fan. If not, you will not like the beer. While the beer is great, they are very proud of it. Worth a stop for the samples and don't be a db--recycle.

A friend is a beer fiend and he asked if I'd bring some home! After extensive research, we were close to Stowe so added it to our trip. Pulled in, took a few pictures, purchased his beer (they were out of one so had to make an uneducated substitution - but the was sure he'd be happy with the change) and took off for Lincoln NH. Lots of folks coming in to buy and to taste. Be sure to bring a cooler as all beer needs to remain cold. Had to buy a thermal bag to pack the beer in my suitcase back to Indiana. (TSA had to open my bag to check out the beer. It's so good, I'm glad to get all 8 home!)

Overall:
You don't do a VT beer tour without the Alchemist. A must-do, even just to see the location and try the Heady Topper if you haven't. The visitors centre is a beautiful building and easily accessible on the Stowe mountain.
Beer:
They have 3 selections on tap for free samples (when we were there they had Heady, Focal Banger and Crusher). Enjoy this while looking into the brewery where the magic is made! They sell cans of their product in 4-packs. There are limits which are posted on their website. The beers are classic - quite strong and hoppy. We got there when it opened and there were about 20 people in line. The Heady Topper does sell out but be there when it opens and you'll have no issue.
Food:
No food options on site. Many Stowe restaurants nearby.
Summary:
Must do for craft beer connoisseurs or anyone wanting to see a landmark in the craft beer community.

The good...Heddy Topper and other beers are brewed here in this new facility. Samples of beer are a decent size, and you can purchase two 4 packs per person. Ample parking is there, and it is easy to find. One drawback, the retail space is limited. There is no taproom to enjoy a full beer. No tours that we could see. No food. Perhaps it was the company's intent...taste the beer and buy some. Easy in and out to purchase the brews, but if you want to settle back and enjoy a cold one with an appetizer, then go to a restaurant and get the beer there to enjoy. Then come here for ones to take home. Beers must stay cold.

What an awesome place! We are in Stowe every August, but this was the first year that we stopped by The Alchemist for beers. Tastings were plentiful and free and if you wanted a full pour, it was only $4! The weather was beautiful and warm - perfect for sitting outside or playing corn hole. Dog and kid friendly too! And did I mention the beer was AWESOME!

This brewery rightly believes in the quality of its beer, so it offers generous samples of three of its beers and is rewarded by people lining up to buy the Alchemist's beers (including myself). The Heady Topper, in particular, was excellent. The taste was crisp, with the fresh ingredients coming through nicely. The cans also are very beautifully designed, so they make a great gift for any beer lover. The tasting area is a nice place to make new friends and enjoy some of the best beer in the Northeast. This really is a win-win situation for the brewery and its guests and I highly recommend stopping by if you love a good beer!

Some quick things to know:
There is limited space inside the building so if it’s -11 outside plan accordingly and prepare to wait outside.
The line is simple inside your directed to 3 free samples, no IDs are needed as none are checked.
There is a space to view the processing/canning of their beer, then the line moves to the cashier to buy your beer.
There is no snacks like popcorn offered and no one bothered to stay and take on the scene.
The beer was good but don’t plan more than 10 minutes here.

My husband and brother have been waiting for months to make this trip to The Alchemist and they were like two kids in a candy store when they arrived. If you are into craft beer, this place is a must if you can get there. It's well worth the drive as the surrounding area had many things to do.

When we decided on a last minute trip to Stowe for the long 4th weekend, it dawned on me that we would be in "Alchemist Territory". So I loaded the Cabela's super cooler in the car and headed out.
We reached Stowe early Saturday afternoon and first stop, before checking in to our B&B was The Alchemist. Though a very raging day, there was a line of about 40 waiting to enter. The line went quickly and we were inside in about 15 minutes.
We were greeted by the man himself, John Kimmich, who was cleaning the floor (talk about doing it all !). We had a couple of samples as we made our way to the purchase area. They had all varieties available and we picked out five varieties, and they are on ice until we head home.
Hope there will be some room left in the frig for a couple of yogurts ! Great stop, wonderful staff, highly recommend !

Nice place (not open) M-W only to go beers disappointed we couldn’t enjoy our beers in the out door section . Beer was great

We tried a few beer samples and bought our maximum limit of Heady Topper. Space is new and you can see the tanks easily. The merch is plenty to buy but wish more heady topper illustrations were available to purchase.
Great place for a quick visit. We went on a weekday afternoon and very few people there. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Such a fun vibe! Staff was excellent and beers were amazing. I’m not a huge ipa or craft beer person but this is a cannot miss experience for the atmosphere alone! Super cool ice sculptures outside made for a fun end of the evening activity.

My son goes to UVM in Burlington and except for the occasional Alchemist beer in a restaurant, I could NEVER find the Alchemist's HEADY TOPPER in any package store. It is always sold out and gets delivered to its Vermont only distribution locations once a week. If I could guess, its easier to buy pot in Vermont. THANKFULLY, my problem is over now that I know I can travel to Stowe Vermont to Alchemist Brewery and Visitors Center. I get the opportunity to sample three beers and then can buy those same beers before I go. Yes, there may be a two maximum per 4 pack, but I can buy all three of the offerings. Easy to find right off Mountain Road, plenty of parking; educational venue of how the beer is brewed and you can be out of there in an hour and leave with one of the best beers in all of US of A.

The Beer is superb. Home of Heady Topper. I didn't realize the reputation of this stellar beer till later but the other offerings including Focal Banger were just as good!!!! We went for the Beer but the ambiance was cool and the Merch was unique! We were unable to buy a pint but the ample samples were free and plenty of cans for purchase. Wish I had shipped some home because unavailable in Ohio!!!!

Obviously the beer is great but there is a very limited variety available to enjoy on the premises. There is also no food available and the hours close very early. Worth a visit, probably not a second visit though. Additionally, you’ll have better luck buying the flagship Heady Topper at some of the local beer stores and you will probably get it for cheaper than at the brewery.

We went to the brewery on a Monday which was delightful as the weather was beautiful, the color of the leaves was stunning and the beer simply the best. Brewery is filled with artwork and unique items. Flowers outside are gorgeous and well maintained grounds. So happy we de died to go on a weekday as we heard it was overly crowded on the weekend. This is a must see if visiting Vermont.

I remember the first time I had the Heady Topper Beer, I knew I had to get here one day! The brewery inside looks awesome in the back, but they do not have a lot of seating inside. The brewery experience for us was mostly outside. They had a small bar setup and some outdoor activities to do, and we just sat out on the lawn for some afternoon beers. The beer is fantastic and world class, as it put NEIPA on the map. They are open for brief operating hours, so go here for the beer and beer alone!

Yes you have to stop in there but not much to do. You get to taste there beers stand around and talk but you better bring ypu wallet the gift shop and beers are expensive but if in the area a must stop.

While in Stowe, a visit to the Alchemist Brewery is an absolute must. Known for its world-class craft beer, the brewery offers an experience that goes beyond just tasting—it’s about immersing yourself in the culture of Vermont brewing.
The atmosphere is lively yet welcoming, with staff who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and recommendations. Their flagship Heady Topper is legendary, but the rotating selection of seasonal and specialty brews ensures there’s always something new to discover. Each pour is fresh, flavorful, and crafted with precision, making it clear why the Alchemist has earned such a devoted following.
Whether you’re enjoying a pint in the tasting room or picking up cans to take home, the quality is consistently outstanding. Pairing the beer with the scenic backdrop of Stowe makes the experience even more memorable—it’s the perfect blend of local charm and world-class brewing.

We waited in line for about an hour to get our beer and merchandise, and it was totally worth it. Don't be a DB while in line as they move the customers through as fast as they can.

Retail establishment with free samples of their beer prior to buying. Beer is very good, but sells out quickly. Was hoping to buy a pint and hang out, but this is only a retail "store". Friendly staff that answered questions.

The Alchemist is one of the top brewing companies in the nation. It was amazing to see the brewery and how it all made. The staff was friendly and the tasting was well worth the time.

Drove 4 hours to get some beer. Was worth the drive. Visited back in April so it was somewhat quiet. Was able to take our time to sample some beers, purchase some beer, and also purchase some merchandise. Will definitely be back in the near future.

Drove up from Massachusetts to visit the alchemist. The beer is worth the trip and is some of the best in the country. You can’t go wrong if you enjoy IPAs.

Place is very nice, beer is great and staff is friendly.
Decently priced, I just wish we could have a "tour" of the brewery.
I really recommend visiting this place if you're in the area!

Very cool brewery. My husband couldn’t wait to get here! He loved the Focal Banger and Heady Topper. The free samples are a nice touch. Cool atmosphere. Needless to say we bought a few 4 packs to take home and now he’s the “cool guy” at work with the exclusive beer!

Three beers to sample, a little merchandise, and a. View of the brewery, not really a tour. Quick place to pop into for a quick beer sample.

Looks nice from the outside, wish we could have got in to drink a beer in their brewery but they are closed for renovations. They make great beer, preorder it online and pick it up in their parking lot.

We stopped by The Alchemist on a Saturday in August. When I walked in, I saw a line a for purchasing beer, and a line for sampling. Once I saw that Heady Topper was indeed available, I got in the "buy" line, and instructed my wife what samples to get me while I waited in line. I was limited to three 4-packs of Heady Topper, so I based what the other three 4-packs were going to be on the tastings my wife provided.
Once I got my purchase to the car, I returned to enjoy a few more samples while my wife and our son and daughter in law conversed with friends. I'm not usually a fan of lines, but these lines moved quickly, and there was such a great prize at the end!
I even got my picture taken outside with the "insert your head" thingy!
This will be a yearly stop!

Visiting from out of state. Heard this was one of the best breweries to go to and that Heady Topper was one of the best beers. Hadn't read the reviews before going there and didn't realize you couldn't get served inside.
So, it was just like having a can of beer on any lawn. I probably could've picked it up at the grocery store cheaper.

Free tastings of 3 different brews, lots of free shwag like coasters, stickers, Very reasonable prices. Friendly staff, parking, gift shop.

As per the title, I'm not sure what's so great. The beer was ok and the free samples were very much appreciated but there wasn't that much to look at for more than 5 minutes or so. Not sure why everyone is raving about it.

We stopped in on a Saturday evening after skiing. The parking lot was full so we went back to our hotel (Stowe Motel) nearby and walked over. We watched a bus pull in and unload and were worried that it would be too crowded to enjoy. Turns out there was an ice sculpture competition going on, which was unique and fun to see. They were selling food and beer outside, and even had ice sculptures to set your beer on. It was packed inside the building but the line moved quickly so it only took 10 minutes or so to buy beer and head out.

What a fun stop to take while in Stowe! They had 3 different samples for us to taste the night we stopped in, the Heady Topper was one of them and it's all they say it is! They had sold out by the time we got there but we picked some up the next day on our way out of town, make sure you have a cooler and ice as it needs to be kept cold.

This is NEIPAs started. Easily one of the best breweries in the country. I stop here everytime I'm in the area. Everything is served out of a can other than Heady Topper.

Great place to drop in and try some interesting brews. Worth dropping in for a quick sample but don't plan on sitting down for a draft.

Not much going on here. Canned beer and sit outside. No tastings offered. Hard to say anything else. Left for a better environment. Beer was okay

Focal Banger is the best beer I've ever had. And Heady Topper isn't exactly a slacker. And I'm so excited I can actually buy Focal Banger and bring it home now. We went on a Saturday and arrived just before 11 am. The parking lot didn't have many cars and the line was pretty short so we got in and out quickly. They have a very efficient setup. Besides beer, you can also buy merchandise and tasters. The brewery itself is really cool. You can see the brewery and canning equipment. And of course, the artwork on the cans and merchandise is also present in the building. The staff was also super helpful and nice. Visiting the brewery and buying beer is absolutely worth a trek.

We had a good visit, with nice weather - we were able to sit outside on the lawn with our kids. The tasting room is closed, so you get your drinks from an outdoor bar. I imagine that when their tasting room is open, you may be able to get a small taste/sample of a beer or two (like most places) to see what you like. But outside, all they have is cans so you’re just guessing. I got one snd it was fine but too hoppy/strong for me, so I gave it to my husband. Also, there’s no food available there. But overall it was fine to spend an hour there on a nice day.

Excellent beer, met my expectations and then some. My only complaint were the small quotas allowed for each person to buy. After traveling such a long way I wanted more. Also, bring your cooler, their beer needs to be kept cool we were told.

My husband felt like it was an early Christmas present to be able to visit the famous Alchemist brewery. It was a very organized set up and we enjoyed the grounds. He loved the Heddy Topper and although discouraged he brought some home to Texas to enjoy.

Gorgeous facility with three classic choices to try -- you just have to savor it within the building. Pay attention to the website so you'll not be disappointed if your favorite is out of stock.

I dont drink beer, so this place had to stand out in other ways. My husband is a craft brew fanatic and he said all 3 free samples were delic. Loce that dogs work alongside the owners, music played inside..GO THURSDAYS...food, bands, games outside, a lot of fun

Stop in to the brewery to get the hard-to -come-by famous Heady Topper and other fine Alchemist beer. It is best enjoyed in Vermont and easy to see why it almost never makes it out of the state. Bring some beer and schwag home to your beer geek friends; they have great stuff here.

This beer was great fun to taste - one of the best microbreweries around. Go early - they run out. Tiny store - this visit won't take long, but it is well worth the stop.

Great beers and especially love the ones brewed for a purpose (e.g., Just Say Gay). Staff was really helpful in making selections and explaining the brewery's process. Next trip we will spend more time here so we can try more beers.

This is a true craft beer lovers "destination". A pilgrimage here is a "must do". The brewery is visually striking. They offer generous beer samples to all of legal age. Not all brews are available every day and quantities are limited.
***Be sure to have ice and a cooler with you as this beer MUST be kept COLD at all times. Depending upon the crowds, they often open before posted hours so arrive early !

What an operation! They offer free tastings (up to 3) and the beers are really good. Quite an operation. They sell pints in a four pack; not cheep but worth picking up as it is only sold within a 25 mile radius. Beer is unpasteurized so it must be kept cold. Can’t wait to get back home to PA and relax with a can.

Awesome place to visit, great artistic vibe, beer was good, free samples! This is a trendy place where you can see how the beer was made, plenty of beer to taste and enjoy. Everyone was buying beer to take home with them, it was so good. Would highly recommend for an interesting brewery to visit in the Stowe area.

Attractively designed modern building. Clean and inviting. Free sample of craft beers. Well maintained grounds. Free parking. This place is hoppin'! It runs efficiently. You can expect a bit of a line-up at certain times of the day. It was an enjoyable experience. We will be back again.

Gotta like hops. Nice clean brewery. Free tasting, im just not a fan of hoppy beer. Spent alot to bring beer home for friends

This was our last stop on our craft beer tour and it was a very good one. It was a little late in the day but samples were very generous. There was no Heddy topper for sampling or for sale but the other brews were all very good. I wish they had full pours for sale but they have to serve food in order to do that.

If you are a craft beer lover you have to make a trip to The Alchemist and bow to the alter of one of the top IPAs in the country. People travel to Vermont to find a four pack of the their flagship brew. I love Heady Topper but will take a Focal Banger over it every time. They also have other lesser known treats that should not be ignored. Their current taps are flowing: Crusher , Beelzebub, Pappy’s Porter, Luscious, Holy Cow, Alena, and El Jefe. Their new taproom opened in 2016 and if as cool as it gets! I am looking forward to my next visit!

Went recently on a brew tour while visiting Stowe. We found it to be informative and entertaining. Kenny was an awesome guide, adding to the fun experience. We were able to sample some freshly brewed Heady Topper, yummy. Nice outdoor beer garden to relax and sip in afterwards. Do Go and enjoy yourself, best $20 I’ve spent in awhile.

By far made my trip this year. Home of the infamous Heady topper IPA and Focal Banger Hallenbeck and Green Crush all are amazing beers. If you have not come you haven't tasted beer point blank. Great prices on cases which makes visits worth while. The tour was great location is awesome and architecture of the actual brewery is awesome and innovative. Highly recommend!

The Alchemist has come a long way since downtown Waterbury VT! Several beers rotating in and out. Holy Moly was my favorite DIPA. Heady Topper needs no introduction but has lots of copycats that just aren't there. My new found favorite is Luscious a British Imperial Stout. I am hoping to get some El Jefe this holiday, a dark IPA.

I was expecting more of a tour. It was a tasting room and gift shop, with views of the brewery, and nice signs explaining things. A very modern building with funky landscaping.

Delicious hoppy beers, primarily IPAs. You can taste a few while you're in line, which moves quickly.

We were at The Alchemist on a Saturday afternoon recently and sampled a few of the beers at the sampling station. Every one we tried was exceptional. We ended up buying only two 4-packs of Heady Topper because this beer had to be packed for a long flight and we were worried we could not keep it cold enough for the travel. The beer stayed cold, and we stayed happy!

The Alchemist brewery is definitely a little tricky to find. It is not right off the highway and it can be dark on the roads. Thank goodness for GPS. It is a very scenic ride through the Vermont countryside as we traveled to Stowe. We even saw a mother and baby deer. It was also very picturesque as there was already now there and it definitely reminded me of ski country. The Alchemist is also very close to the Van Trapp family Lodge and brewery so I would also recommend visiting there if you are in the area. The Alchemist shop is quite large and different from other breweries I have been to. There is no fee to taste the beers. You are allowed to taste all three one at a time. I had Focal which I did not care for, but I am also not a huge fan of very strong IPAs. However, the other members of my group really enjoyed the beer. There are places to sit and stand. There is also a retail store with beer for purchase. There is a limit on the amount that you can buy. I believe it was 2 4 packs of each.

Went midweek for some Heady and surprise found a whole lot more. Great tasting room with probable the best host/ hostesses in the beer world. We are instate but far enough away to make this a destination for a day trip. After we bought the goods (every thing on the beer list for the day) we went back to have a few free samples and read the history of the brewery on the walls of the inner sanctuary. Great people from literally all over the country were in the house. Fun day trip. Really safe environment, cool host's /hostesses with incredible knowledge of beer. They made us feel like we were at home. Recommend going midweek since the crowd was at a minimum, and the atmosphere was way (HEADY) relaxed. Would return again and recommend a visit if in the area.

The building is absolutely stunning! What an amazing facility. I expected it to have a bar to drink beer, but it didn't. You can taste at least 3 beers, then purchase cans of what you want. The artwork is absolutely gorgeous. The brewing tanks look exactly like the beer cans. We really loved the establishment and their friendly service!

Recently visited this new brewery having moved from their old location in Waterbury and what a nice place with the same quality products. The new facilities are great and the beer they put out is still tops in the country. Everyone who works there are exceptional and helpful. If planning on visiting to pick up some of their great products check the schedule and see what they have that day as they do sometimes sell out fast. Worth a trip if you love quality craft beer.

Pretty generous free samples. You were given a small glass and a sample, when done you could get back in line for another sample. There were three different beers to sample when we were there including the Heady Topper. There was also a retail side where you could buy four packs though limited to the number you could buy. I suppose you could purchase, unload to your car and come back and get in line but my wife and I just ordered separately so we could each get the max which was plenty.
The place was also fairly kid friendly, perhaps not inside as it was a bit crowded but outside bordered an open field and plenty of space for the kids to have a few minutes to play.

Nice location very good beer/ale. There was music, a food truck and a beautiful day. A lot of room for the kids to run around as the adults enjoyed an ice cold brew.

Very nice brewery. Clean and well taken care of. 3 types of beer abailable for sampling. There are restrictions on how many beers you can buy (depends on specific type).

We drove a long way and found it to be a bummer that you can't buy a whole beer, samples only. The facility was beautiful and there were no crowds like it describes on the website, probably because it was midweek in may. We loved that we got a cool metal growler for buying a case of beer.

Finally made the pilgrimage to The Alchemist to get some Heady Topper. Really great new brewing space that is visually very cool. Can see the bottling line from the tasting space. Friendly knowledgeable staff that gave great recommendations of other up and coming breweries to visit in nearby Burlington. There are 3 beers on tap that they let you sample and a place to make purchase of the coveted Heady Topper as well as other offerings. Kind of off the beaten path but there are many other stops you can make along the way to sample other VT offerings AND the Von Trapp Family Lodge (think Sound of Music) is 2 miles away.

When you enter, you will smell the most disgusting smell ever. No other Brewery stinks like theirs. You can also tell they are really just there to sell what they can; nothing but a line & register. You aren't touring there, but can peek in to what they are doing. Personally, I don't feel the beer is worth the price, but many do; sometimes I wonder if they'd like it as much if it cost the same as other beers.

My wife and I sojourned to Stowe to spend a few nights at the Trapp Family Lodge. On our last morning, we made the trip to The Alchemist for a taste-test and a few four-packs of Heady Topper.
The staff was accommodating. It was a warm morning and there was a lengthy line, so they opened the doors a bit early to allow many of us to get out of the sun. The tastings were cold... the cans were cold... and the line moved briskly.
My only criticism / suggestion: expand your business - sell some bags of ice so we can throw a couple of bags atop those bad boys!
Thanks for a great experience...

No DBs! The stickers you'll see around the brewery say it all. This place is serving some of the best beer in the world in a relaxed and laid back atmosphere. The line is run well and everyone there is super friendly. The allotments are generous definitely making it worth your time on line. You can't go to Stowe and not enjoy a heady!

Finally was able to get up here for the first time. What an amazing facility. Heady/Focal/Crusher, and a special bottle release of Petit Mutant. Line moved fast, staff workers were extremely friendly. Being able to sample the beers while in line was great too!

The Alchemist is meca for beer lover's, home to the famous Heady Topper! They still limit you to two 4 packs, other of their beer are limited to a case. It was not very busy when we stopped.

I had promised my son that I would buy beer for him here and then take it back to him in Texas so I came with a fiend and we were obviously the oldest people here! Still the staff were so very helpful and we tried some beer and then purchased the four types that I had been instructed to purchase. We arrived right at 11 am in order to beat the crowds but had no problems. This place seems huge for a microbrewery and is very organized. People were walking out with many four-packs of the different beers including the famous Heady Topper. We even had no problem keeping the beer cold for the next 10 days even packed inside our luggage on the plane. We even drove by here later to show the rest of our traveling party the place.

This was an interesting stop on our tour of Stowe. Free beer tastings and gift shop/beer run. Beer was pricey to purchase.

Amazing beers. Free tastings. Beautiful new building. We have two young boys and they were ok with them coming which is nice and a change of pace. Very safe for them running around and they had free stickers for them too. Jackpot. Grabbed my allocation of Heady Topper and some Focal Banger too. Thanks guys!!

My house guests loved our midday stop here. Informative displays and view into the brewing process, and the complimentary tastes were a particular hit! They enjoyed knowing that the owners are also great community event sponsors.

We finally got to visit The Alchemist Brewery, and it was a lot more enjoyable than I was expecting. I came in with an expectation that they would be a bit pretentious since they have such a cult following, but that wasn't the case. Everyone was very kind and it was easy to get a seat and have a bite to eat. They sell most of their beers out of cans so you won't be able to do a sampling, just jump in for the pour. They have plenty of beers to try that isn't The Heady Topper if you want something different. While we didn't do one ourselves, they have tours most days. You can expect about 6-8 of their beers available to go as well. While they have a food truck on site you can bring in a bite to eat as well.

if you like good beer, this is a must visit- plan on waiting in line a little bit. We went there Thurs. morning at the opening time, waited about 15 min. There were limits on how much you can purchase on Heady Topper, Focal Banger & Alena. I heard from our friends, who went there in the afternoon that Heady Topper was sold out. Watching the canning process was nice. They recommend keeping this hoppy beer cool (38-42 degree, I think), so make sure to have some room in a refrigerator or cooler, or some place cool.

Another brewery on our beer bucket list. If you like hoppy beer, you will love this place. It was a little busy the day we arrived, but it was Christmas break and it is in a ski town. They have a free sampling section that moves very quickly, so you are never waiting long to try your next beer. They have a large retail selection. The staff were very friendly.
We picked up some of their beer infused cheese while we were there - a must buy in our opinion.

We visited mid-afternoon and the line was out the door and around the side. It was worth the wait to visit, sample some beer, view the inside where you can see the production in plain view and purchase some of their product. It was a fun to visit and I'm sure I'll be back again!

My ex was raving about Heady Topper for ages it seemed. He finally asked me to join him on a 5 hour drive to Vermont so he could purchase a couple of cases. He was a kid on Christmas morning here and even more happier discovering they have free Heady Topper samples. The customer service was horrible though. I found the employees rude and unfriendly. Maybe they have to deal with lots of people getting their buzzes on, I hardly drink alcohol and was massively sober and quiet, but that is no way to treat your customers, especially if some drove for hours to taste the delicious beer, which incidentally is delicious and one of the most flavorful beers I have ever tried. If you cross jasmine tea and grapefruit, that is Heady Topper. If you like Heady Topper, then enjoy your time here but since the staff was crappy to me, this visit will be my last.

Beautiful brewery with free samples. If you like IPAs, you’ll be in heaven. Their beer can be a bit too strong for some tastes. Very friendly. Nice little shop where you can buy coveted 4-packs of their famous specialities. Really love how any tips you leave are donated to different causes every month. Class act!!

Great time in the Alchemist Beer Garden! It was a rainy day in Stowe, but that didn’t sTop them-or us! The building is closed for renovation, but they had a great bar set up outside serving the beer in cans! Friendly staff! There were other tents set up around the big lawn, and on a nice day plenty of Adirondack chairs for smaller group seating. They even had life music! Great jazz group playing pleasing background music.

This was an excellently run, modernity run brewery. They gave you very generous free samples of three of their craft beers. The staff were very friendly. Plenty of parking. Well worth a visit.

Heady Topper! You must buy your daily limit or your friends will disown you. Be there early to buy it because the line gets long. It does move fast, though. REMEMBER TO KEEP IT COLD!!!!!!So take a cooler.

A must-visit for IPA beer drinkers. No charge for samples. Go early on a weekday to avoid crowds. Can purchase on-site 4 pack cans.

The Alchemist has a pretty neat set up. You walk in greeted with a “what type of beer would you like to try” complimentary I may add. Very clean. Had to make a few purchases.

Stopped here to seethe hype. Not sure what is so exciting. You can see the tanks, but there is no tour. They offer free samples, but I'm not a can of IPA beer. Nice, but I don't need to go back. There were a lot of people carrying out cases of beer.

So yes, you can come in, check out the brewery actions, sample 3 of the brews available for sale, and just smiled. This place doesn’t sell outside of 25 miles.......and they have to limit how many 4 or 6 packs a person can take at one time. Excellent placed nestled in the hills. Definitely worth checking out.

We stopped by on our visit to Vt. Friendly staff, free beer tasting. The grounds have some outdoor lawn chairs. On a nice day you can sit and relax. We picked up some of the local beers. Nice visit

I stopped at the amazing Alchemist Brewery during my vacation in Stowe. The new brewery facility is spectacular. The taproom is very attractive and artfully designed. The afternoon I visited, they were serving complimentary hot dogs and chips. They have a very nice selection of their own beers. The Heady Topper was up to its fame! In addition to the elegant indoor area, they also have a beautiful outdoor area. Ample parking is available. The Alchemist is a must visit brewery if you are visiting Stowe.

Their beer is VERY good... but... we went to visit and taste, not to stock up. We also went "just to go." Just to say we've been there. Alchemist really is a "cult" beer. And... if you like beer (and WHO doesn't like beer - am I right?!) and you're within a half-hour/45-minute distance of the brewery during their tasting/sales hours... GO! Here's the deal: It's NOT a brewpub. They don't have an actual "tavern" set up. You go there to go... to sample their three main brews... and to BUY beer to take home. When we stopped in on a Saturday afternoon there was a LINE to get in. We only stood outside for maybe 10 minutes tops... BUT... the point is... this is "beer pilgrimage" stop. (Like I say... Alchemist is a "cult" beer.) Still... a nice 4-oz pour... three of 'em in fact... and I got the feeling that I would have been given "seconds" with a smile had I asked. (After your first sample you just "hang" and listen to the music... then "belly up" to the side to ask for your second and third samples - one at a time. Friendly place. Friendly crowd. Functional AND fun. But as I say... not a place to "go drinking." Just a place to check off on your tour of... life. Again... highly recommended if you're in the area. Maybe spend anywhere between a half-hour and an hour "hanging."

Each of us tried all three of the free samples. Only one of us enjoyed our choices. The place is very sterile.

While we were in the neighborhood popped in to sample some of their brews but alas ! you can't really do that as everything but one beer is only in cans. This is very different to all the other breweries we have visited that offer flights, samples or tastes on tap of their beers. Wish The Alchemist would do this. We did however get a draft of the 20th Anniversary which was pretty special and we took some cans home.

I had heard of the Heddy Topper so that's why we stopped here. I'm not much of an IPA drinker and I have to admit I didn't really care for it. Their lighter beer was good, though.
The grounds are neat, clean, and open. Very chill atmosphere. I like that they had solar panels covering the parking spots.
We had hoped to take a tour but the tours cost money and you had to reserve online.

Dropped by the Alchemist after hearing high regard for their beers. The beers were very good with a nice selection of ales, stouts and IPA's. However, a few of their staff were like their IPA's - a little bitter for the liking.
Must visit!
Home of the famous heady topper and focal banger! Taste a sample (or few) and buy a few beers for your buddies!
