Limited displays and most over crowded with various tid bits of Andy's life from childhood to his passing. There is a nice statue out front of Andy and Opie but no police car, etc. There was one display from the TV set of the Sheriff desk area. You make a small loop in one room and that's it. Very over priced at $20/each with no discount for seniors, military or first responders. Very lack luster but does have some very interesting information and stories (which can all be found on google.)

We traveled out of our way to spend the day in "Mayberry" and were not disappointed. This museum was our first stop. We didn't get to see the theater, but still- the museum was great!! We loved the interaction with so many exhibits and the strong tribute to the Andy Griffith show. Definitely one of the top must do things if you are in the area. The siamese twins exhibit was interesting.

Was so excited to drive three hours today from the city we were staying in, to visit the museum. Bought tickets and was happy to wait 30 minutes to get in..... however I was very unhappy to have a large tour group arrive after I bought my tickets and be ushered inside ahead of quite a few people who had bought tickets and were patiently waiting. I gave away my tickets and left very disappointed. That is extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate- if a large tour group wants to come, there are hours before the museum opens and after it closes to the public. To make people wait to allow a group in like that, especially in this time of the virus situation, is dangerous (as you know the staff didn’t clean after them) and inconsiderate...... Very disappointed and will never have the opportunity to come back.

Hubby and I enjoyed looking at the memorabilia and learning new details. Definitely worth a visit if you're a fan

If your are a Andy Griffith fan then you will appreciate and love this small museum. The opie and Andy monument is outside in front. This museum goes through Andy's life from his humble beginnings in Mt Airy through the Mayberry .Matlock and recording years. There are lots of paraphernalia such as Otis Campbell's hat. Jailhouse keys,Andy's sheriff uniform just to begin to scratch the surface of this treasure trove of paraphernalia. The museum is small in size but jam packed with Andy's life. Well worth a visit.

So you get to see the statue or Opie and Andy and then for around 9 bucks you can go in and see some artifacts from the show and then go downstairs and learn about Siamese twins it was a fun activity

Do the museum before walking downtown because the cost include the theatre and you get a chance to view this historic place.

We visited here to see some memorabilia and history but honestly everything there can be seen at the other exhibits without paying the fee.

Loved this place!! It was really neat to be able to see the exhibits. It's not just Andy Griffith, It has other interesting poepl too!

We toured the Museum in about 20 minutes at $8.00 a person. We actually spent more time learning about eh conjoined siamese twins. Both were interesting.

It was pricey for the amount of material in the museum! It was ok and interesting, but not worth the amount charged. You can complete the tour in 20 minutes easily.

A very Interesting couple of hours. We did not realize the music background that Andy Griffith had. |There was an admission price but it was nominal and well worth it. Great to see all the Displays with Aunt Bee, Floyd, and Barney. Thought there may be more on OPY.

Very nice, informative and displayed museum. The life of Andy Griffith from his birth to his last days. Also had items from his shows, movies and recordings. Great place

Museum was so adorable and showed the love for the Andy Griffith cast members. The whole town a classic down home feel that portrayed in the show.

We came on a Sunday so activities are limited, people in town are very nice. We arrived to find out the museum did not open until 1 on Sunday but hey it is Sunday. The museum entry fee is 8.65 per person adult 12 and over, There is a lot o see in a small space that are actual props from Mayberry and the show, and there are also props from Matlock and Andy Griffiths recording career. The museum is small and a little crowded but it is nice and neatly laid out. There are also areas in another building where there are exhibits from other characters in the Andy Griffith show and others from people from Mount Airy NC. There is the statue of Andy and Opie, and a few other photo spots. Be sure to visit Wally garage more photo spots and the jail for photos as well. A nice stop the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, clean, very nice stop.

Small museum that's worth the visit in town, but nothing spectacular. Great history of Andy Griffith and memorabilia if you're into that sort of thing.

A must see if you're an Andy Griffith fan or have interest in the Andy Griffith Show. Lots of original items for you to see. There are things here that you will never be able to see anywhere else.

Very well done and a great tribute to Andy and his career. No doubt it could be even bigger considering the impact of the man and his work. Makes for a great start to visiting the town and other sights.

If you have any interest in Andy Griffith or Mayberry then the museum is worth a stop. $8 admission cost is about right for what you get. The museum is not large but has a lot of memorabilia and information about Andy Griffith's career. It is well organized and the staff were friendly. We arrived just as it opened on a Sunday so there was a bit of a rush of people at one time. Even still the museum did not feel over crowded.

This museum was so much fun for us. We are huge fans of Andy Griffith. It was great to see all of the memorabilia from Andy's life, especially before and after Mayberry. It is a must see!

Small museum but nice. Watched the show when I was younger. Learned some new things that I never knew. Liked it.

Enjoyed seeing the life and times of Andy Griffith. If you are an Andy Griffith fan, you should stop in!

Had a lot to see but wish there was more! Also had the Chang and Eng twin room and another room about Thema Lou. And in the basement they had a mural of Mayberry.

Having grown up watching Andy Griffith on a black and white TV, I enjoyed learning more about Andy Griffith's Mt. Airy life. So much of what you see on the TV show is based on his experiences and places around Mt. Airy. It's well worth the $8 admission fee.

Very nice overview of Andy Griffith and his life in Mount Airy. Enjoyed all the information about his life.

It would not be a vist to Mayberry without visiting the museum. It isn't a very big place but, it is worth the time.

This is a very well maintained Museum. The exhibits were so interesting. We enjoyed our time here. They have touchscreens that provide information.

We had a great trip to Mayberry. The museum was a great place to go to see all of pictures and information that had be collected for the Andy Griffith Show . it is very roomy so you are not bumping into others. Great place

For $8 you get to see a fair amount of show memorabilia as well as other shows Andy Griffith and the other cast members were involved in over the years. Additionally, you get to learn more about the famous Siamese twins (chang and eng) who called Mt. Airy home.
Larger vehicles may need to park on the street since the

I grew up watching the Andy Griffith show (yea I know I'm old) but my wife and wanted to check the place out. We still watch the reruns. Lots of info, items, and informational videos. $8/adult. If you go make certain to check out the Siamese twins museum underground of Andy Griffith Museum (many people in Mount Airey are descended from the twins).

A must see.great stuff to look at brings back a lot of memories . A lot of stuff I did not know about.

We enjoyed seeing the real clothing, props, manuscripts, court house doors, etc.. I wish the price were a little lower for the museum considering the size, but I'm glad we visited. It was very well done. The statue of Andy and Opie are outside. You can see that for free.

This was one of the highlights of our July 4 trip to Mount airy. There are many one of a kind displays there. It highlights the life of Andy Griffith and as an added bonus they have duplicated the Mayberry jail anD Courthouse

Well presented memorabilia from the show as well as Mattock. Lots of stuff to bring back great childhood memories for me. Short and sweet visit.
Well worth the time and effort if you are in the area.

We stopped at the museum. Clean and well kept, BUT not easy for the handicapped. If you have a mobile scooter it would be recommended. $8 each. I think it was too much to view the museum. But we paid to see all the displays.

Took a day trip to the fictional Mayberry. First stop was the Andy Griffith Museum. Admission is $8.56 per person. Lots of authentic items from the show including scripts, clothing, and pictures. Not a big museum, but well designed.

Lots of memorabilia from Andy Griffith's life and the show. Includes history that I didn't know. Worth the visit, not expensive at all.

Had a “dinner” there with friends, listened to a talk about the history of Mayberry Days. We got to sit with and meet different show characters. Amazing how friendly everyone is.

There is a small entry fee of $8.00 but it’s worth every penny. There are many exhibits and photos of Andy Griffin. And the cast of characters from his show. The original signs used on the front of the courthouse are on display. Andy’s sheriff shirt is on display. Barney’s houndstooth suit is on display. Otis drunk suit is on display. Lots of pictures are on display and plenty of videos of the show and of Andy making speeches. They include pictures of Andy’s youth. Even the chairs Andys mother sat in to rock Andy as an infant. Thanks to Andy’s childhood and life long friend, Emmett I believe is his name, he was able to collect many items from Andy for display at this museum.

For a small town, this little museum is done so well! We enjoyed seeing the memorabilia and watching the tv screens! The TVLand statue is just beautiful. An added plus was the Chang and Eng display. After listening to a PodCast about the Siamese twins, I was most interested to learn more. Being able to tour the movie theater was also fun!

I have always wanted to visit this museum, and after 48 years I finally made it here! Loved every second, and though I saw everything there was to see, I'll be back again for sure. Staff were very friendly, and if you are an Andy Griffith fan then this is a must see! Highly recommend! 🙂

This museum is very very small. It's one room, and it has some nice artifacts, but there are alot of scripts and photos. The price is $10 to get in, and there is a second room next door downstairs. We did not spend much time here, and I'd say if you have small kids, it's not worth the time. The Andy/Opie statue outside is worth the stop.

Great museum for The Andy Griffith Show and Andy himself. Lots of things from the show. Price wasn’t too bad. If I’m honest, it was probably smaller than I expected, but we still enjoyed it.

This museum is a must to, if you’re a fan of the Andy Griffith Show!! The town of Mt Airy is a friendly town. So much to visit. But to see actual items from the show made the trip. The lady at the counter was so sweet. Very helpful!! Thanks for a great time! Be sure to visit the town!!

The museum was easy to find and well worth the $8 entrance fee. Parking was a bit tight. I enjoyed seeing the memorabilia of Andy Griffith and others involved in the show. A surprise was the exhibit about the Chinese Siamese twins who settled in the area, married, and had a bunch of children.

We are big fans of the Andy Griffith Show. This was very neat. Didnt take too long to go through it. There were a lot of things on display.

Very interesting and enjoyable if you are a fan of Andy Griffith. Has memorabilia from his movies and shows. Worth visiting.

If you like Andy Griffith this is THE place! Great collection of memorabilia from his life, movies, TV, and music. Very nostalgic and fun! A must see!

My wife and I visited the museum today and we really enjoyed it it. I was, and am, a big Andy Griffith fan and I appreciated the items on display. I was somewhat disappointed that there wasn’t more to the museum and for that reason only rated it 4 stars.

This was a nice visit if you are an Andy Griffith fan! Lots of fun facts. Oddly, minimal information on Aunt Bea, Opie, and Helen. There was also an exhibit on Thelma Lou and the Siamese Twins— all from the area.

Once a month on the third Friday, Betty Lynn, who played Thelma Lou on the Andy Griffith show will meet with fans and sign photos.
Admission must be paid to the museum for $8 and then you buy one of the photos available for $10. After I waited to see Betty Lynn, I did tour the museums.
The museums are small so it will not take too long to wander around and see the memorabilia. There is a small gift shop as well when you can buy t-shirts and dvds.
The audio visual displays make some of the contents more meaningful.
Even though the museum is small, I still learned a lot about Andy's life at different stages. The downstairs museum focuses on the Siamese Twins; Betty Lynn, and another room with photos and letters.
The Earle Theatre is also included with admission but that closed at 3pm so I didn't see that this trip.

Beloved cast are memorialized in a great way. My husband & I love the show and learned many new things by visiting the museum.

Worth the small fee if you are a fan of The Andy Griffith Show. A lot of the clothing used in the show, original scripts, and lots of props. Takes an hour plus to take your time through the museum.

A must stop for all things Andy Griffith or Mayberry related. You get the Siamese Twins thrown in as well. Be prepared to spend a couple of hours watching the videos and looking at the memorabilia.

The museum was small but had many good displays about Andy Griffith and the shows he was in. Worth a stop.

One of the smallest museums I think I ever toured! If you LOVE Andy Griffith and Mayberry, I’m sure you’ll love this place. The entire museum might be 20-30 walking steps. Drive to Andy’s home by the blue water tower. Take your picture in front of the Andy and Opie statue, or in front of the court house doors, or in front of Andy’s office. Some people exited with an Andy museum shirt and stick-on police badge. The museum cost is $8.+ for adults.

We stopped in Mount Airy on a family trip and really enjoyed the museum. Almost all of our family grew up watching the Andy Griffith show. It was great to learn about his other acting experiences - it encouraged us to watch some of his old movies.

This museum contains lots of memorabilia from Andy Griffith’s life and career. It isn’t really large but it is worth the time if you are in “Mayberry”.

We thoroughly enjoy our stop at the Andy Griffith Museum. It is small but worth the stop in! Be sure to stop by to see the wall mural. The police car driving around was the best!!!

I only had about 2 hours to spend in Mt. Airy on a recent road trip so I decided to visit this museum. The admission wasn't too expensive and once inside, it was well worth stopping. A lot of memorabilia to look at not only from the Andy Griffith show or Matlock, but about Andy's entire career. It was really enjoyable and I'm glad I stopped.

I personally loved it. Thought it was well done for the price of $8 adults. I will say I was a bit disappointed in them charging me $6 for a 4 year old. That was ridiculous. He got nothing from it as I would expect since he doesn't read or care for any museum. That was a bit uncalled for. I would suggest one part of your party waits with the kids and you all take turns going in and save yourself the money. It's not big and doesn't take long even reading everything in there. I personally believe 10 or even 12 and under should be free for what this was. Also, was quite surprised they didn't offer a senior discount of even a dollar off. The lady was quite short when I asked about both but I threw away $6 for the kid for sure.

Well organized and fun. Take your time and watch the visuals and listen to the audios. Make sure you visit the other exhibit rooms after the main museum.

Andy Griffith was a remarkable man and the museum is a great testament to a very talented man! If you are an Andy Griffith fan, this is a "must do" and a great bucket list item.

It's small but worth every penny. If you are a fan of the show it's a must see. Educational and fun too.

It has a lot of the stuff you'd think of when you think of Andy. But it's also got the things that were Andy before he was famous and then after he was famous but before Matlock.
Also it's Air-Conditioned.

Very small but nice. I learned a few things about Andy that I didn't know before coming here.
The gentleman that sold us our tickets was friendly and welcoming and following mask protocol.

The museum is updated. The have newer and more showings. Information is abound here. Fun facts and pictures and period clothing. Please go. It is great.

I’m a huge AG fan, but this museum was a let down. It’s very small. As someone who loves to read and learn, it took me ten mins to tour. That is it.
I’ve always wanted to go, so I am glad I had the opportunity. I just wish there was more to see.

Nice little museum with photos and videos of Andys career. Many artifacts from the show. There is also a smaller museum around back dedicated to the woman that played Barney's girlfriend. Andy's birthplace is just a short drive down the street.
Well worth it if you are passing thru Mount Airy.

At $8 a piece, this museum is reasonably priced. My only complaint is that it got very crowded by the time we left so we didn’t really have the opportunity to experience all the film and video clips and samples of Griffith’s comedy and gospel recordings. They certainly have lots and lots of authenticated memorabilia. We didn’t have time to check out the other building, but there certainly is a lot to see and do here!

Went for a quick visit. At $8 per person, it is a little pricey for what you get. Still, it was fun to see the clips from Mayberry and to see the long career that Andy Griffith enjoyed.

Well worth the stop in Mt. Airy! Loved the museum but even more loved visiting the other attractions. We probably spent an hour in Floyd's barber shop. Just barely missed the barber or we could have said we've had haircuts at Floyd's! Maybe next time! Loved Wally's fillin' station and the other attractions around town. Now I'm home binge watching the Andy Griffith Show again!

The museum has restrooms and some small souvenirs. Plan on being there no more than one hour and probably 40 minutes. It’s cozy and small but well planned out. It’s just one large room. Interesting facts about his work but nothing much about his personal life. I wish it would have had a more personal look into his life other than his accomplishments. We paid about $38 for a family of 5.

We enjoyed it, but the Eng and Chang museum was better. The museum did a very good job of all the characters from the show(s)

This is a very well presented museum for all of his movies, tv shows, plays, music etc. and very interesting. I would have liked to see a little more on his personal life. i really liked all the scripts, props and costumes used in the various shows. He was so talented and this covers all the things that he did do in the entertainment world. Seems like the whole town is centered on him and it is a real clean town. It looks like every one who lives there cares about the town.

We were somewhat disappointed in the museum. It was very small and not alot to see actually. We honestly thought it would be more. But I guess for the price it wasn't to bad other than we drove 5 hours to see it.

We only had a short time in Mount Airy so this was the only place we visited. It was interesting to see everything that Andy accomplished. I had forgotten a few things he'd done and there was a lot that I didn't know about him. The museum was pretty busy on this Friday afternoon as was the downtown area. The museum employees we interacted with were friendly. We enjoyed our short visit to Mount Airy and The Andy Griffith Museum.

Nice weekend in Mt. Airy and nice museum. They did a great job with lots of information about Andy Griffith and his life as well as other information about the other characters on the show. A must see in Mayberry USA.

This was such a disappointment. TVs running excerpts from the show and movies he was in, framed pictures you can probably find on Google Images, a few items from the show, a whole room about some Siamese twins (???), whatever that was about, and a mural we had to walk through a group of kids exercising to go see. It was pitiful. $16 dollars and 15 minutes of our life my husband and I will never get back.
My suggestion, don’t bother. Go talk to the older lady at the visitors center for history of the town. She's a kick! Shop at the sock and kitchen stores instead.

For anyone that's a fan of the Andy Griffith Show, his comedy or other movies should take time to see the museum. From memorabilia to show and movie clips, you'll learn a lot and be taken back to fond memories and a simpler time.

We went to Mt Airy for Mayberry Days. We had a great time. One highlight was visiting the Andy Griffeth musuem. It had so many interesting things to see. I learned a few things that i didnt know too. It is definately worth $8 to ge in

We enjoyed the photos and memorabilia of Andy Griffith's career. Presented and flowed well through the museum.

What a fantastic way to spend a little time reminiscing about TV and movie history. The Andy Griffith Museum was quite nostalgic and brought back some memories of childhood and how TV was a big part of it. There are also several displays about Andy Griffith's early career and was quite informative. While not a very big museum, it packed a good bit in.

Much smaller than I expected it was going to be. Didn't take long to get through the whole thing and cheap place to visit. People do not social distance and they don't really regulate it inside (and because the quarters are so tight it is hard to distance). They also have touch screen exhibits that we never saw cleaned. The entrance fee does get you into two other exhibits but they weren't great. Would recommend they have someone there giving some stories or history or something extra because it was pretty basic. You could really see all of those things online.

I visited the Andy Griffith Museum while in Mount Airy, and it was honestly way more interesting than I expected. It is a small museum, but it’s packed with cool stuff from The Andy Griffith Show, like costumes, scripts, and even personal photos of Andy himself. What I liked most was how it felt like stepping into another time. The whole place gives off this sense of warmth and simplicity that’s kind of missing today. The media helps people remember and connect with the past, and this museum is a perfect example of that. It’s not just about the show, it’s about how people still hold on to those small-town values of kindness, humor, and community. You can really feel how much the town takes pride in it, too. I am taking a museum studies class at Wake Forest University right now, so it was cool to see how this small museum tells a story through objects. It is interesting how the Andy Griffith Museum uses layout and artifacts to create a nostalgic experience. Even if you have never seen the show, it’s a fun stop and gives you a real sense of Mount Airy’s charm. Definitely worth checking out if you are nearby!

We went to this museum and spent about an hour looking at all the memorabilia and videos from movies and a couple recordings. It was very interesting and informative. Reasonably priced at $8.

We had visited the museum about five years ago and were amazed with all the upgrades in the exhibits! Artifacts are displayed in pleasing arrangements that don't promote sensory overload. Audio segments are volumed appropriately so there is no conflicting distraction. We especially liked the separate areas of display for the individual careers of Andy Griffith, Betty Lynn and the Siamese Twins. The beautiful Mayberry mural is a priceless addition, prompting countless happy memories and offering several heart-warming photo opportunities.

Not a huge fan but since I was staying nearby I thought this was something fun to do. I also was interested in seeing the town that Andy Griffith grew up in since the show supposedly loosely based Mayberry on it. Not a huge place, but they had some quality items and many original set pieces and costumes. The man at the front desk was very nice. It was strange they had a Chang and Eng Bunker exhibit as well, but that was a neat part of local history as well.

If you are a fan of the Andy Griffith show and you are ever close to Mt Airy you have to go to the museum. A good experience and brings back a lot of good memories.

A very fun museum loaded with interesting facts, memorabilia and nice displays. Be sure to see the Betty Lynn Museum and Siamese Twin Exhibit next door.

It was eye opening, I thought I knew a lot of Andy Griffith, but after going in I realized I hadn't even scraped the surface. It is worth going in there, and very interesting.

Smaller than what I thought it would be, but still had some interesting stuff inside. A little pricey but worth one trip inside.

Admission is $8.00. Ample parking in adjacent lot or walking distance from town (Uphill). Restrooms on site. Wheelchair accessible. We enjoyed reading about Andy over the years and all actors involved with the TV show series.

My wife and I visited the museum while on vacation in North Carolina; the exhibits were well presented. The cost was moderate and the staff was friendly and outgoing.

This was a fun filled short tour of the museum. It is not a huge place, so there is not a lot of walking. BUT, the museum was filled with a lot of memorabilia and fun items to look and and many things to read. There were many videos to watch and movie clips to preview. There was a huge mural to visit after the museum, but it was down a huge flight of steps. We did not go to see it due to my recent knee surgery.
I loved the museum and the gift shop had a lot of unique shirts and autographed photos from many actors.

Lots of Andy Griffith memories but not a lot of the other characters. Some Don Knotts. Enjoyed what was there but thought there would be more.

Small, but well organized with a lot of memorabilia and information about Andy Griffith carrer on stage and TV, and his connection to his home town. Nice visit.

Growing up with Andy Griffith on TV, this museum brought back happy memories and warm thoughts. Traveling through is not an option, you need to stop and explore the town and museum.

The Andy Griffith Museum is a must see when visiting Mount Airy, North Carolina. It is an enjoyable way to spend part of an afternoon.

We enjoyed seeing the exhibits on Andy Griffith's life and work. I guess our only issue was that it was kind of small.

When in Mount Airy, you realize you're soon to be immersed in Andy Griffity/Mayberry nostalgia. Embrace it.
The museum, though, goes well beyond that show and actually gives some interesting insights into his early career.

This is a good small museum with unique items you won’t see anywhere else. There are personal items, story narratives and clothing items. Everything is presented in a clean and organized manner. Entry fee was $10.75+, so this may be expensive for a family.

If you grew up watching the Andy Griffith show then you will enjoy this stop on your travels. Had an enjoyable time walking around the town and eating at the Barney Cafe.

The museum had some neat exhibits and displays and the staff was friendly and helpful. One thing is it is kind of small and when there is a crowd of people looking at one exhibit it can be kind of frustrating.

Childhood dream to get to Mount Airy, NC.
Museum was fantastic. Wish we had more time to spend in town.

All the characters, scripts, props, etc. So heart-warming! We even bought some of Betty Lynne's rings!

A lot of Andy's life is displayed here from his birth to the show. Many articles from his life was there.

A must stop for any Andy Griffith fan. Very nicely done. Many great items that include things from the Andy Griffith Show. Not a large place, but just the right size. Friendly staff. There is the other building that has the Thelma Lou exhibit that is included in the museum. My favorite part about the site is the statue of Andy and Opie out front. It's a wonderful piece that is a must see in person.

Great museum of items from the Andy Griffith Show and Andy himself! There are soo many items to see, and even the show playing on a large tv. Tells a lot about Andy Griffith. Pictures of when he was young. Even his birth certificate, and report cards! Barney’s salt and pepper suits are there to see also, and a wonderful gift shop. Even a suit Otis wore, and his hat. There is free parking, and the price for admission is $6.00. Well worth it in my opinion.

This had been updated since the last time I was there. If you love Andy Griffith - this is the place to go!

Such a “comforting” experience! I have watched The Andy Griffith Show all of my life and have wanted to come to Mt. Airy for a long time - it was worth it! As others have said, the museum is small, but the impact is huge for fans. The Betty Lynn exhibit was interesting as well. I describe the museum as comforting, because it just made me feel like I was part of the Mayberry family. We went on Sunday and had to wait a while because of the number restrictions, but it was fine. The people working in the museum were friendly (the guy in the gift shop had some great corny jokes), and the lady selling tickets made sure that everyone in the lobby was wearing a mask. I highly recommend the museum!

The museum was full of Andy's things. It is a great collection of things about him, mainly the Andy Griffith show. I guess I wish it was bigger, more hands on, I'm not sure. I was wanting more. I would definately stop again. Maybe a show putting his life in order or something would be an nice added addition. The museum is hidden below the playhouse. There is also the siamese twin exhibition below the stairs outside the museum.

Talk about reliving your childhood. This museum was everything Andy Griffith. Memorabilia from Andy’s movies, Matlock, The Andy Griffith Show and Mayberry RFD. Clothes that were worn by the actors, scripts, movie clips, pictures galore. This was the town that Andy grew up in, went to school and the Soda Fountain. Sheriff Office furniture and the Old Court House front along with interactive touch screens. Simply a must!

If you grew up watching the show, or it you are familiar with the television show or even a Matlock fan; then this is a must. Lots of interesting memorabilia about that life and career of Andy Griffith.

I was not a big Mayberry fan, but in North Carolina for work and had a day over the weekend to drive to Mount Airy to check it out. Was very simple and small, but did really enjoy the museum.

I really enjoyed the museum, lots of information, especially the section on the Siamese twins. Glad we went, although the 8$ admission is a little high,

So much information and all the cool memorabilia from the show and from Andy's history in the town. We enjoyed walking through and talking with our kids about everything. We recently got them started watching the show so they could appreciate our trip a little more.

If you or a family member is an Andy Griffith fan, this is a must see! Everything in the museum is displayed well and associated with the scenes from the show. My husband was in his glory and I enjoyed seeing him remembering the show from his childhood.

We have wanted to come here for a while now. We finally got a chance to stop in. The lady who took our money was really nice. She gave us a map of the facility and the other displays in another building. There is a lot to see about Andy and the rest of the crew from the show. There is even a motorcycle side car out front the kids can get in and have their picture taken. They have some clothing from the crew on display, lots of photos, and posters. They have a chair that has signatures from the cast members. We really enjoyed our visit. In the other building they have a room that is devoted to Eng and Chang Bunker, the Siamese Twins.

The information and the items on display are interesting for sure. The musuem is small, we were not able to visit the lower level due to an event going on. Does not take much time to go through. Was nice to learn of Andy's life before the show.

This little museum did a great job of helping me learn even more about Andy! Set aside about an hour to see everything.

If you get a chance to get here, you will enjoy it to it's fullest. By watching shows or the Museum.

A nice review of the life of Andy Griffith; props, history, etc. Easy parking. Also, there is a small museum on Cheng and Eng Bunker, the Siamese twins who lived in the area before Andy Griffith (LOL)

While visiting Mt Airy my wife and I toured the Andy Griffith Museum. It's not very big or elaborate but it is very tastefully done. A lot of neat peices of memorabilia on display that tie together Andy's childhood growing up in Mt Airy and different episodes of the Andy Griffith show later in his life. The staff was very nice and helpful and if you are interested in learning more about Andy and his career, visiting this place is a must. Definitely recommend.

We were impressed with the museum and the quantity of memorabilia there was. It was not overly crowded, nice facility, easy access, within walking distance of other downtown attractions, shops and restaurants.

I found out a lot about Andy I never knew. It is an experience not to miss! The people there are very proud, and they should be.

Stayed in Mt. Airy on purpose on our way back home from Nashville to Norfolk, VA so my wife and I could relive some of our past by visiting the Andy Griffith Museum. Felt like a kid again when looking at Barney's suit, Andy's shirt, old scripts, courthouse doors, Andy's desk, etc. Second trip to the museum and want to go back again in the future!!

A fun look at the life of actor Andy Griffith. Including artwork, costumes, posters, and artifacts. They were showing an episode of the Andy Griffith show. Small gift area. More next door at the theater.

The museum is rather small but seeing all the AG show memorabilia was great. I enjoyed it overall and learned much about the life of AG.

No Jim Nabors Tribute area; No Ron Howard Tribute, No famous actors that appeared tribute
Clean Restrooms!

Nice and clean pit stop along our travels. Moving between a few different buildings was interesting, but fun with kids. A lot of show/career history was displayed. When we were exploring it feel like we were back in that era.

Great little museum tucked away in Mount Airy. Take your time walking through so you don’t miss anything. Lots of neat memorabilia. Thank you for the military discount.

This is an excellent museum displaying artifacts on the life and times of the Andy Griffith and the TV show the Andy Griffith show. I loved this museum as much as I love watching the show. There’s everything in here regarding from the beginning of Andy Griffith’s childhood up until his final days. The museum is well laid out, it’s not big but it’s full of memorabilia relating to Andy Griffith. Lots of original props from the television show. Next-door there’s a smaller museum with some stuff of the Siamese Twins, Chang and Eng Bunker and of Betty Lynn aka Thelma Lou. Highly recommend checking out this museum.

Oh the memories from childhood were linked with Andy, Opie and the rest of the show. The museum was great and I learned amazing facts about Andy. Fabulous memorabilia.

This museum is easy to find. It is not very big, only takes an hour or so to see everything. There are lots of artifacts from report cards and yearbooks to the clothes he wore on his two television shows. There are some interactive touchscreens and a place where you can listen to his music. If you grew up watching the Andy Griffith Show this is a must-see. Downstairs there is the Betty Lynn exhibit. She played Thelma Lou on the show. This is a very nice exhibit showing pictures from movies she made and her service uniform from her time in the USO during World War II. Also displayed is some of her art work as she is a talented artist. Next to this exhibit is the Siamese Twins exhibit--Chang and Eng. Turns out they settled in this area as adults. This exhibit is interesting as well.

Whether you were a big fan or just viewer of the Andy Griffith Show reruns on television, you'll love all the memorabilia this museum has to offer. This museum has clothing, pictures, videos, and several props of the show's including Andy's desk and chair. Museum also includes the original Andy Griffith Theme song sang by Andy and many other shows Andy was part of during his lifetime. Definitely worth the $8 admission fee. Also, very nice t-shirts available.

Interesting museum but small. Enjoyable. A lot of information about Andy Griffith and there was a man in front of the museum with a Camel standing next to a statue of Andy who allowed us to take our picture with it.

A great stop for Andy and Mayberry fans. An added plus of Chang n Eng Bunker, joined twin brothers collection too.

Nice little visit to reminisce or learn more about Andy. Fun to see the memorabilia. Takes maybe a half hour. It is pretty small. Someone said it would take two hours to visit, perhaps if you read everything and make a second and third round to make sure you didn’t miss anything.

A must do, when in Mt.Airy, aka, Mayberry. The old pictures, stories, movie clips, just a nice place to visit.

The Andy Griffith Museum is $8 to visit (tax is included) and they now allow you to take photos inside.
The museum is full of artifacts about Andy Griffith. There are photos, manuscripts, clothing, movie clips, and so much more. There is information to read as you go along.
In the other building, there is a Betty Lynn Exhibit and the Siamese Twin Exhibit. There is also a room with pictures showing Mt. Aity throughout the years.
The museum is well worth a visit if in Mt. Airy.

It was wonderful going to the Andy Griffith Museum. To be able to see the actual clothing that was worn by the actors in the television show. Barney's two suits and one of Andy's shirts along with all the other artifacts. We plan to come back in the future and spend more time in this wonderful town. Everyone is so nice and friendly in the town and this included the here at the museum. It's a town that makes you want to live there.

My family visited the Andy Griffith Museum on June 21, 2019. We really enjoyed seeing all the memorabilia from the show. We watch the show almost daily as it has great content for small boys. Our highlight was visiting with Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou). She is still a spunky 92 yr old young lady. My grandsons asked her about Opie’s days on the show. She joyfully answered all their questions! We loved our visit with her and the museum and “Mayberry”!

Good thing to do on cold or rainy days. Nicely done and we'll kept. I would recommend to everyone who remembers the show.

Beautifully done. Growing up watching the Andy Griffith show and seeing some of his movies, I thought I was knowledge about the legend. I learned so much more. My son loved watching the movie clips. Reading at the exhibits and looking at familiar artifacts, I felt surrounded by the spirit of those that we grew up watching year after year. It was a feeling of love and good will

As a big fan of the original Andy Griffith Show, the Museum did not disappoint. There are lots of original memorabilia from the show as well as some items from Andy Griffith’s time as Matlock. The $8.00 admission fee was well worth it. One can spend as much time with the exhibits as one wants. If it wasn’t a rainy day, we would have spend more time walking around “Mayberry”. If you’re near the Mt. Airy, NC area and you want to take a walk down memory lane, the Andy Griffith Museum is well worth your time.

This was a neat little museum. It was fairly cheap to enter and highlighted Andy's life accomplishments from a little boy to his death. There were plenty of original props from both the Andy Griffith Show (Andy, Don, Francis, George, etc.) and Mattlock. They offer an additional tour of the playhouse where Andy started acting for an additional cost. It is definitely worth visiting if you are a fan.

Clean, well maintained, and informative. The bonus of the Bunker twins was also nice their story was interesting.

If you like Andy Griffith show, it was nice stop. Lots of memorabilia. Nice small town. You can also walk the area around the museum but we visited on a Sunday (father's day) so couldn't go in replica of jailhouse or didn't see the squad car.

Excellent museum!! Well planned and easy to follow. Great information in each section. Video clips to watch. So much to do.

This was a wonderful Museum ~ A real tribute to all those in the show. You will see early photos of Andy, the tweed suit worn by Don Knotts, a bronzed version of the cap worn by Goober. Oh, and the ORIGINAL door plates from the Courthouse!

An excellent museum honoring a tv treasure! The museum is small so it won’t take up a ton of time but has plenty to see! Lots of memorabilia and audio/visual parts to see and hear!

We visited the museum as part of a group tour. Museum is very small (less than an hour to visit). A must see if you are an Andy fan. Lots of memorabilia. I Probably would not have visited if not part of the tour group. My visit to 'Mayberry' was on my to do list. Once and done!

We came to Mt. Airy to vist "Mayberry " but we were not very impressed. The museum was just on the outside of town, very well kept but not worth the $8 that they charged. It took all of 15 minutes to tour the 1 room museum. The downstairs mural is a joke. It seems that they are just capitalizing on Andy Griffith's name and this being his hometown. We wouldn't recommend touring here.

Of all the historic sites we visited in Mount Airy, the Andy Griffith Museum was the only one that charged admission ... a whopping $8 per person. And that eight dollars buys a whole lotta history. You gain entrance to the main museum, the separate Siamese Twins Exhibit, the Mayberry mural exhibit in the bottom floor of the theater, PLUS admission to the Historic Earle Theatre a few blocks away. Every one of these is interesting in its own right.
It was a wonderful coincidence that we happened to visit on the anniversary of Andy's birthday. He would have been 93 years old June 1st, and the museum honored the date with a Happy Birthday Andy display.
I learned a lot about Andy Griffith that I didn't know before. He was a recording artist who released several albums and actually headlined with Elvis Presley, July 1955 in Jacksonville Florida. Mental note for trivia night - one of the Danny Thomas TV show episodes was the pilot for The Andy Griffith Show.
Andy Griffith played a leading role in a dozen movies, in addition to his three TV hit series (The Andy Griffith Show, Andy Of Mayberry, and Matlock). One of my favorite movies of all time - Waitress - featured Andy and Keri Russell, and was his last movie in 2007.
The museum houses the largest collection in the world of Andy Griffith memorabilia, many of the items donated by Andy himself and his wife Cindi, including TV sets, scripts, awards, theater playbills, original record albums. We probably spent an hour in the main museum, and we moved along quickly because there was so much else to see. I'd advise allowing at least two full hours to check out all four exhibits.

If you love the Andy Griffith Show, you should go for the Andy/Opie statue alone! I love fishing, and the show entrance has Andy/Opie w/fishing poles, so this statue captures that perfectly! The detail is great. Awesome photo opp

Fun way to kill some time. It's small, takes less than an hour to see. Loads of info on Andy Griffith and a little about some of the other cast members of the TV show. Strangely, we didn't see a thing about Helen Crump. Museum also includes other things about Griffith's career besides the TV show. There's also a small room with info about the Bunker Siamese twins, who lived nearby.

Nice place to visit, lots of history of Andy Griffith. Museum is small but worth the visit. Would recommend.

Enjoyable visit to one of TV's favorite shows...and more. Andy Griffith was a legend as the museum proves. I have very fond memories of Mayberry...so it was well worth a visit.

Very small museum but packed with a lot of information. This isn't a museum just about the Andy Griffith Show, it's about the man so it highlights other TV shows he did as well. It was a bit crowded when we went so we weren't able to read everything like we would have wanted. There are a few extra exhibits in a separate building as well. The highlight for me was the Mayberry sign out front and the Statue of Andy and Opie. If you're a fan of Andy Griffith then make this your first stop before touring the town. FYI....don't buy any t shirts here. There are better souvenirs in gift shops throughout the town for cheaper.

Great tribute to the life of Andy Griffith. I wasn’t aware of him being in movies also. Beside acting on the Andy Griffith show there was a nice display from Matlock. The actress (Betty Lynn) that played Thelma Lou lives in Mt. Airy and often stops by at the museum. $8 admission worth it.

This isn’t my first visit to this museum but I learn more each time. It was crowded and hard to spend a lot of time on each exhibit but so interesting. I will probably go back again lol

As a guitar player, I learned something new. I knew Andy Griffith played a Martin guitar on a few episodes, what I didn’t know was that Martin guitars made a signature limited edition Martin D-18 in early 2000’s. Only 311 were made and I’m on the lookout for one. Great little piece of Americana. My wife and I loved it.

Small museum but had a lot about the life of Andy and his early movie career. Several displays that were perfect for picture taking.

A must see for Andy Griffith fans. Well presented and small but a lot of info! Well worth the $8. A lot of interesting facts about a great actor, singer and person! Highly recommend!

The museum has many artifacts and interesting information about Andy Griffith, mattock and some of the tags cast including Otis’s hat! Worth the stop. You could browse for hours! Casual atmosphere and congenial hosts, just like the entire town of mt. Airy.

The Museum and the ride in the Squad CARr were GREAT and VERY informative. Walking along with the shops and having lunch at Snappy's and then an ice cream treat down the block was fun. Trip to Pilot Mountain would be great for those who love to walk and hike.

This place is great for those who appreciate the andy griffith show. Many show props, clips, and articles.
They packed a lot of items in thi small musuem. Lots of movie posters and memorabilia.

Great Experience! ...
Its a small Museum, but has lots to offer!
Inexpensive, I think the entry was $7.00
Such a nice grouping of memoribilia from Andys' life.
I took lots of photos, the staff was there, and so helpful, answered all my questions.
I understand that "Thelma Lou" comes to sign autographs every 3rd Friday of each month... I had just missed her, but may come back, just to meet her!

Being a big fan of the show, we loved seeing all of the displays and memorabilia in the Andy Griffith Museum. The displays in the Thelma Lou area were fun to see too. Great memories! Don’t miss the cool murals near the parking lot.

We visited the museum with friends the day after Christmas. The ticket lady was very nice and full.of information. The muswas very clean and had some kool Amdy Griffith items. It was really small, one room, and rather odd in the way they displayed things.

As the statue of Andy and Opie greets visitors, the folks inside are just as pleasant. Museum has some interesting items such as a bronzed Goober hat, and downstairs is a mural of Mayberry, and cut-out where Thelma Lou is puckered up for a kiss from you. We spent an hour there and for $8 per adult, we felt it was fairly priced.

Not a huge place but lots of memorabilia.
Take your time read everything and enjoy.
Not the best place for small children.
Gets a little warm in the since it is a small area.

This is just a must stop while you are in town. There are lots of interesting artifacts. Neat trivia about the cast and crew.

I have watched The Andy Griffith Show for over 50 years, and this is my first visit to the museum. We had a great experience and enjoyed seeing the history of one of the best shows ever on TV. Thanks to all of those who made this possible.

My wife and I have both watched the Andy Griffith Show for years - and years - so it was fun to see the show artifacts and some of the history behind the man.
The museum is probably just the right size ... not so large that you feel like you'll miss something ... not so small as to become easily bored.
It was refreshing to see that masks were required though there was only one other group there at the same time we were.

Small, but very interesting museum for fans of Andy Griffith, classic television, or any film buff. Well worth the trip if you combine Mt. Airy sites with it.

I love the show, and going to Mt. Airy has been on my list of to do's for sometime. It did not disappoint. We did the museum and playhouse tour, Abigail was our guide and she was very knowledgeable about Andy Griffith. I learned a lot about him and it made me want to see more of his movies and all of the episodes of Matlock.
It was a good day, as we walked around town and ate at Walker's drug store. The town feels safe and homey and I can see why Andy Griffith loved it there.

Small but very nice museum filled with Andy Griffith and Mayberry memorabilia. Very informative and interesting displays and artifacts of Mt.Airy’s favorite son. Admission fee was less than $9. Totally enjoyable visit.

An amazing experience! Learned so much about Andy Griffith. Lots of film and TV clips. Cost is only $10. Lots of places for pictures with cutouts of the actors. Memorabilia are amazing.

The museum was very informative and the displays were well done. It covered Andy Griffith’s life and career very well. While also hitting on some of the other characters from Mayberry. We enjoyed it very much.

So many interesting exhibits to see. Andy Griffith is really loved by the people in this small town. Great place to visit and learn so much about Andy.

Stopped here before we went downtown. Make sure you go through the whole place. Also see the Siamese twins room.

Old time nostalgic place too visit not huge, but worth the time to visit if your near by..wouldnt travel too far or plan vacation around it

Didn't want to miss my chance to meet Thelma Lou. A lovely woman, very sweet and takes time to talk to each person in line.

Small museum for avid Andy fans. If you're in the area, it's worth the visit but not if you're traveling 8 hours like we did to get there.

Had a great time in Mt Airy. The museum has so many great items from Andy Griffith's life. For any fan of his or the show I highly recommend it.

This was a nicely done, small museum. Displays presented highlights of Andy’s career. Nicely done audio/video presentations were interesting and added to the experience. Came away with the understanding that there was a lot more to Andy’s career beyond Sheriff Taylor.

It was essentially all about Andy Griffith, not enough information about the other actors in the show. I enjoyed the museum and the interactive TV's.

Anger and disappointment was our experience so my family of 5 standing in together but paying separate so the family in front of went to the window and paid which the lady working tried to over charge them but anyways so it was my moms turn she’s paying for 3 so my mom makes her ticket purchase then I go an the lady yells that’s it we’re at max my mom turns and says umm that’s my daughter and granddaughter we want to go as a family the lady at the window says it’s at max you can’t my mom then ask the older lady working ok then so the family that’s at the window now it’s 3 people can they switch with us and I’ll wait with my daughter the lady yells it’s at max no I can only allow 10 people I then stepped up said yes ma’am everyone is aware of your max my moms group of 3 made the 10 so if you minus my moms group makes the room now to 7 so if the family at the windows goes inside instead of my moms group it’s still 10 this lady was rude and wouldn’t not allow us to do this she then comments if I do it for you I have to for everyone umm no ma’am it’s not doing anything special then pulls my mother to the side telling her you know covid is here only 10 my mom isn’t stupid so to insult her in such ways isn’t ok so my mom aunt and nephew had to visit without myself and my daughter who loves Andy and wanted nothing more but to visit we drive 3 hours for this I will never go back because of this one unfortunate person working this business

It was a well done museum highlighting all aspects of Andy Griffith's life and career. Lots of personal items, but the museum is rather small. We read through all of the displays and took our time and still only took about 35-45 minutes.

Nice collection of stuff. Several things I learned about Andy here. Well worth the $8.56 to get in. The have another building with stuff from Thelma Lou and the show.

Fun place. Very thoughtful and comprehensive overview of AG's life with special artifacts that fans will find worth getting off the main road to see. I appreciated that there was also significant material on Don Knotts, his co-star who played Barney on the show. Small gift shop (more like a cabinet) had an above-average selection of souvenirs to choose from. Despite all this, I most enjoyed the exhibit of Siamese Twins Chang and Eng Bunker, who also lived in the area. While only a single room, the exhibit tells their life-story, which blew my mind.

Although small, the exhibit had a lot of memorabilia related to Andy Griffith, including some old high school pictures..... The cost of admission included 2 other exhibits as well that lived in the area including, the conjoined Siamese twins. The $8 admission may have been high for what was there, but it was still interesting just the same.

The museum is on the smaller side but is packed with items on the life of Andy and his history to getting to his top tv shows The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock. Video clips, memorabilia, newspaper articles, etc. One room has photographs from around Mount Airy telling you about the item and how, when and what episode it was used in the show including street signs and even the local newspaper. Cool little museum.

Nice little museum which has a good display of Andy's life and career. There is only one level to really see, then there is a mixture of other things on the basement level, which was ok. So overall a good way to spend an hour.

Headed out of town, we stopped to go through the museum. Very small. There is a fee charged as well.

I live half mile from the Statute of Andys and Opie, had taking lot's friends out of town to see it.

From video clips, so movies I didn't know he was in, clothing, pictures and newspaper articles, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

If you're a huge Andy Griffith fan then you will probably enjoy this very small museum. If you're not, I would pass. For me, it wasn't worth my time or money.

It was filled with memorabilia from Andy’s entire life. From his early days to his las. Had props from the show. Lots of interesting information. The staff was extremely nice, helpful and friendly.

The Museum is sort of small but well worth the trip. Make sure to visit other parts of the museum. The Siamese twins exhibit was very interesting. The Betty Lynn exhibit was interesting as well.

Interesting museum filled with artifacts from “The Andy Griffith Show”. It’s a small place, yet it has good information.

Andy Griffith was more than just Matlock - he was a talented actor and musician and enjoyed a great career. It's fun to see all the mementos in this museum and you can even watch short scenes from some of his movies.

Nice nostalgic museum. Didn't realize Andy was such a thespian and singer. Good exhibit of props from TV Mayberry. Careful though. The sheriff sticker badges really stick to your clothes a little to well. After the museum don't forget a walk down Main Street.

Every visitor should stop by the museum and visit. Not only does it have Andy Griffith information but others if you go inside and if you go at the right time you can also stay and listen to some music or maybe see a play.

We took a tour of the Andy Griffith Museum. The museum is not a very large exhibit but it contained quite a bit of information on Andy Griffith. We learned lots of things we did not know. We enjoyed the tour.

Very interesting and awesome museum. Was everything I hoped for. Had everything about Andy Griffith and many actual pieces from his life and shows.

The museum was a nice collection of information - not only Andy of Mayberry but also Andy of the movies. There was an $8 admission, but well worth the price.

It's a small town museum that celebrates the career of Andy Griffith, MT. Airy's most famous resident.
Price of admission includes Chang and Eng Bunker (the original Siamese twins) exhibit and exhibits at the Earle Theatre.
Plan to stay for about an hour.
The coke machine outside charges only 50 cents per can.

The items were really awesome to see and authentic. However, we were expecting something larger for the money. It was pretty much one large room with the items on display. The people there were very friendly.

We loved the Andy Griffith museum. It took us back to our childhood where we watched many, many episodes of Andy, Opie, Barney and Aunt Bee! The museum has a facade of the front doors to Andy's sheriff office where you can take pictures and pretend you are there. There are many artifacts from Andy's life growing up in Mt. Airy! Our stay was brief and on a Sunday. We will be back to spend more time in Andy's hometown for lunch and to see more of the town. Be sure to take a picture with the statue of Andy and Opie outside!

I was passing through and wanted to see a little bit of the Mayberry curiosity. A visit here should certainly start with the museum, so that is where I wound up. This is a small, one room museum with memorabilia, interactive screens, and clips from Griffith's work. I was not terribly familiar with Andy's career, so it was educational, but it is incredibly small. It took me less than 30 minutes to get a thorough look at everything. The added bonus here is you get access the Chang and Eng exhibit that is adjacent to it. I found some of this just as interesting if not more. The best fact I learned was from this exhibit when I learned the Siamese twins married sisters and had like 22 kids. That's... wild. This a must see if you are passing through, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

We visited the museum on 8/16/19 which was a third Friday on the month, we timed our visit to be able to meet Betty Lynn and I must say it was easily worth the trip. She is a delight and our short time with her was a lifetime memory. Such a gracious lady!
The exhibits at the museum are interesting and will bring back many plesant memories of TAGS and the lives of many of the major characters. I particularly enjoyed the display for the broadway play Destry Rides Again as I saw Andy perform in it back when I was 11 years old. The entire time in the museum was only about a half hour but I will go through again should I return to Mount Airy.
A word of advise as I have seen nothing posted as to how the autograph/meet and greet with Betty Lynn is conducted. You must first go to the Museum and purchase a ticket, there they sell a large selection of pictures of her they you may want choose to purchase for her to autograph, They are currently $10 each and are 8X10's I chose 3. If you have time you can tour the museum then but if it is noon or after I highly recommend that you go ahead and go over to the next building between the theater and the museum as that is where she signs autographs. We arrived at 12:15 and were roughly behind 100 people, Ms. Lynn begins signing autographs at 1 and we had our 3 minutes at 3 o'clock, this will be tough on people with back problems or who are unable to stand that long as there only seats for 3 people and that is at the end of the line shortly before you get to the autograph table. They ask that everyone only spend 3 minutes with her so there really is no hurry once you have your time with her. They have a person there to operate your camera so everyone in your party is able to be in several pictures as you are talking with her. She is 92 and will shortly be 93 but she is still a trooper and was really enjoying herself and is still sharp as a tack!
After this we were right beside the Siamese Twin exhibit so we took it in before returning up the stairs to enjoy the Andy Griffith Museum.

Wonderful museum filled with all things Andy Griffith. Very informative and well done. Staff friendly. Not to commercialized but simple like Andy Griffith would like.

Cool little museum with lots of behind the scenes information and memorabilia from The Andy Griffith Show, Matlock and various other movies and plays. Worth the visit within itself is the display of the original courthouse doors from the actual show set, a great photo opportunity.

Really enjoyed visiting the museum, what a great part of history. We were able to meet Betty Lynn aka Thelma Lou and have her sign pics. We loved spending time with her and hearing stories about the show and all her travels.

I always loved The Andy Griffith Show. I also loved Andy Griffith. I learned so much more about the amazing man. Also, the other parts of the museum were a lot of fun. I hope to come back one day

We drove 5 hours and got to the museum late in the day. Ticket lady was rude- so much so we didn’t buy tickets! However, spending time and $$ downtown was a very pleasant experience.

We paid $6 each to see a 2000 sqft museum, however, the compact space was filled with memorbilia, videos, and audio.

I thoroughly enjoyed taking leisurely time at the Andy Griffith Museum, viewing numerous relics from the show and from Andy’s life. Be sure to go downstairs afterward to see the three-wall Mayberry mural, a fun picture-taking spot.

Being a fan of the Andy Griffith Show i enjoyed the Museum. Only takes less than an hour and is a short walk from main street in Mt Airy.

If you are a fan of the Andy Griffith show, you will enjoy this museum! Lots of great exhibits to really enjoy while thinking about the episodes of the show! A must see if in the area!

Quaint but informative museum. Not in our original plans for vacation but decided to alter our return home plans to see this place. Although small it was very nicely done. Well worth a stop. I only wish we had time to visit the town, from which several businesses from the Andy Griffith Show was often mentioned. Maybe next time.

We love everything Andy Griffith but visiting the museum? What a waste of hard-earned money! Tiny room with some memorabilia and your ticket gives you access to the room with the Siamese Twin exhibit-big deal! The room wasn’t even air conditioned. Save your money!

The museum was small but had great artifacts from the Andy Griffith Show as well as info about Andy's life and career which was very interesting. There was also an exhibit on Eng and Chang, the original Siamese twins who also had a connection to Mt Airy
Make sure to stop here on your trip to "Mayberry" It will take about an hour to see it all

So many things to see in this museum. Lots of Andy Griffith show memorabilia along with Matlock items and things from his childhood and growing years. I learned so much about this man and his life.

Made a stop here on my way through Mount Airy and was glad I did. This was a cool museum with lots of props, original scripts, and costumes. Loved the “Matlock” section of the museum. So glad I stopped and the admission price was great! The employees were very friendly. :)

What we did not understand is this is not about the Andy Griffith Show it is about the man. His whole life and career. It is a small museum with a couple of references to the show with Barney's suite, Otis's hat, and the keys to the cell, and I cannot remember what they had as a tribute to Aunt Bee. The exhibit for Thelma Lou was in another basement-type building. I was a little disappointed by that since she was so kind to come to the museum and sign autographs on a regular occasion but keep in mind this is not a museum about Mayberry it is about Andy Griffith.

Cost $10.75. I really enjoyed looking at the exhibits. A lot of memorabilia from Andy and the Show. Takes about 25-30 minutes if you take your time and enjoy it.

Small museum on the history and life of Andy Griffith. Cost was $4.87 per person. You can have your picture taken at the statue of Andy and Opie going fishing. Enjoy your visit.

Great little museum with a lot of information about Andy Griffith, costumes from the show and more. There's a statue outside. Admission is a reasonable price.

If you enjoyed the Andy Griffith show and Andy as an actor you will enjoy the museum. There is alot packed into it for only a $6 entry fee. The fee includes entry into the museum, Eng & Chang Siamese twin exhibit, and the Earle Theatre tour. My kids are 7 & 9 and got bored very easily because they didn't want to read everything and didn't know much about the show.

We recently went to the Ava Gardner museum in a similar NC rural town. The fees are comparable, but the museum had much more information about Ava.

I've wanted to visit this spot for many years and was not disappointed. What a great spot. The museum is small but very well-done and well-laid out. Would highly recommend it!

My husband and daughter loves The Andy Griffith Show. This was a step back in time. The items from the show have been well preserved. My favorite part was the statue of Andy and Opie with their fishing poles.

Interesting and informative information. Price was $8.00 and it took about an hour to see everything. Some nice interactive displays and you learned much about the life of Andy Griffth that was unique and interesting.

The Andy Griffith Museum was great. No, it's not real big...but there is alot in there. I especially enjoyed seeing items that were used/worn on the show. I'm including some pics that I'll explain. I know alot about the show, but learned so many new details about things that happened on the show...like Andy referring to streets that are in Mt Airy, every now and then mentioning names of real people. It was just a cool place. Take your time...if you're out in less than an hour...turn around and do it again. A great collection.

Fun place for reminiscing about Mayberry. Do not miss the video of his life on the right side as you enter the museum. It takes about 10 minutes and provides a very good overview of Andy's life.

Nice collection of items from Andy Griffith's career and life. Learned some new things which is always good! Worth the $8.00 admission fee. Make sure to take your picture with the statue out front!

What a great job the museum has done, collecting, displaying, and identifying the items for this museum. Lots of pictures, clothing, replica of the sheriff office and famous front door, scripts, music, it is all just sweet. Small but well worth visiting when in Mt. AIry.

Small museum with lots of posters and items from the show. Very nice and interesting but doesn't take long to see it all. However while we were there Betty Lynn (93 years old now) was there signing autographs... very nice and sweet lady). Reasonable ticket price.

Our family has a tight connection to the old Andy Griffith show, so we felt compelled to go. I was very glad we did. I was not "wowed" by anything, but I was reminded of how much the small-town feel of Mayberry contributed to my childhood years and to my understanding of how people are supposed to interact with one another.
It's a tribute to one man's attitude that the best thing you have going for you in this life are those around you.
If you are looking for an epic experience, go elsewhere. If you want to wander for 45 minutes through a serious dose of nostalgia, welcome home.

If you are in Mt. Airy you can't pass this up. There is a very reasonable $8 admission charge. The museum is small, but takes you through Andy's life and helps you learn how he got into show business. There's also lots of items from the show and 1986 Return to Mayberry movie. Don't miss the Thelma Lou (Betty Lynn) exhibit below the museum. She is the only regular adult-cast member still alive and lives in Mt. Airy. She makes appearances at the museum on occasion (you have to check the website for dates). This is a must-do if you are in Mt. Airy.

The museum is small but the exhibits, videos and displays are very informative. They pack in a lot of information. Cost is only $8 and was worth it. Andy Griffith childhood home nearby. Other sites throughout the town.

Andy Griffith has always been one of my favorites. It’s not a very large place but it had some of the neatest items. Lots of nostalgia there.

What a collection of items. Teased up just looking. Pictures, film clips, clothing worn on set, props etc. Small museum, but worth 8.00 to get it. Enjoyed it very much.

What a wonderful museum. It was very nice to walk through the museum and see the memorabilia from The Andy Griffith shows and Matlock. It was great to remember all of the shows.

This is a very cute place to visit and enjoyed all the memories it brought back. Enjoyed watching the shows. The little town is very nice to walk or drive around. It doesn't take much time but it was a very fun place to visit. Wish they would have had more on Aunt Bee.

The Andy Griffith show is one of my favorite if not THE favorite sitcom ever. There are so many life lessons in every show. I use clips in every presentation I do on a variety of subjects so of course when in the area I had to go.
The admission was $8, very reasonable and included the museum, the Siamese twin exhibit and the Thelma Lou exhibit (can't remember her real name). It was all so sweet and so worth the money and the visit which was a bit off the highway home.
I was a little weirded out by the Siamese twin exhibit which was part of our admission fee but there were parents and children waiting to audition sitting in the exhibit. In order to see the exhibits (pictures, articles) you had to say "excuse me" and ask them to move. So we left. But overall loved this museum!

We learned a lot about Andy’s life and career. The exhibits are well organized and have many original items from the Mayberry series, not only those that represent Andy but other characters as well. We listened to Andy’s music, saw items from his childhood and other items from his career. Our bifocals made it hard to read some of the placards as they were at levels that did not correspond to our best viewing angle. The Eng and Chang video was hard to hear as it was in a large room that was acoustically poorly designed but the timeline in this exhibit was well, done. The Andy and Opie statue was terrific!

Brings back so many good memories / love watching the program even today in reruns - lots of good information and history - well presented - worth the trip - will repeat !

Worth a visit! Won't need to set aside a whole bunch of time for it. It really wasn't that big but they only charge you a $10 entry fee so worth checking it out! Don't forget to get a pic with the Andy and Opie statue out front!

We stopped at a rest area on I-77 on our trip from PA to GA. I saw that we were near Mount Airy, NC, and decided to stop and check out the Andy Griffith Museum.
The museum was easy to find. The fee was $8. There was a lot of memorabilia from Andy's life, including his albums, movies, and time on the Andy Griffith Show and Matlock. There were many props from these shows. A must for a fan of Andy Griffith.

So well displayed. You can really get the feel of the true Mayberry. Thank you for keeping it alive For all to enjoy

We enjoyed the museum and neighboring sites. The house Andy grew up in is a short walk from here and is neat to see. The admission price is great and gets you in to other places on the same campus. I don’t think my small children would have necessarily enjoyed it because they wouldn’t know who he is, but my husband and I enjoyed it.

Driving through North Carolina we decided to stop off for a visit of the Andy Griffith Museum. Loved it, it brought back so many memories and things we didn't know.

This is a very nice museum with quite a bit of interesting information about the life and career of Andy Griffith. It isn't very extensive, but it's worth taking the 30-60 minutes to check it out, especially if you're a fan of the Andy Griffith Show.

Such great memorabilia but also very informative about the show. Learned things i did not know. Well done, small but well laid out. Admission was $9 but so worth it to see all the items that brought back many memories. Wonderful celebration of a family friendly tv show.

We were in 'Mayberry USA' on Oct 18 to see Betty Lynn. We saw her but couldn't actually meet her due to the very, very, very long line. I have back trouble & can't stand foir more than about a half hour. It would have been close to 2 hours. Disappointed but enjoyed the museaum & seeing her.

This was an adorable, small, informative museum about Andy Griffith. I had no idea that Griffith was born and raised in Mt. Airy. There is a parking by the museum and across the street from the museum. If using a walker, cane, or wheelchair, the area is accessible. The museum is very small but has a lot of information about Griffith’s life and shares a bit extra on the “Andy Griffith Show.” If you’re a fan of the show, you enjoy this. If not, go to the charming downtown that is only 10 minutes away by car.

This was a bucket list item once we knew it was close to where we were in NC. The wife and I took off early from the motel in Boone, stopped for breakfast at Cracker Barrel and off we went. About A 90 minute drive for us and the first stop was the Museum. A small entrance fee is required but it was worth it. Some people complain it’s not that much but it is what it is. A small but interesting museum that’ll bring you back to the days of Andy and Opie. Some of the artifacts are actually from various episodes of the show. If you take you time and read some of the literature, look at the different photos and the other items set up it is a nice visit. Down stairs there is a big mural painted by a local artist I think he was but don’t quote me. Anyway go and see for yourself, it’s not the museum of natural history but it is history just the same.

Though this is a short, small Museum, if you are an Andy fan you have to include a stop here. It was fun. Take time to see the exhibit of Chang and Eng, the Siamese Twins, it's interesting too.

Small but interesting if you are an Andy fan. It’s one big room so it’s a quick visit. They have some great artifacts from the show - Barney’s bronzed chair, one of Andy’s uniform shirts, etc.

We visited with friends but we’re confused about parking. Two levels the Handicapped parking is behind the building. Which resulted in a long ramp twisting up and around the buildings pay entrance. After our handicapped friend made the trek he was too exhausted to go to the car. We moved the car up to the upper parking lot for his access. He missed the lower museum all together because the return to the lower via ramps and or steps. The $8.00 ticket price was high. We abandoned continuing on to the lower level. Disappointing all around.

Pretty neat little town where the people are super friendly and helpful. The Andy Museum was full of memorabilia from the show. To see the actual uniform shirt worn by Sheriff Andy was the highlight of my trip. It had the actual hat and patch and even a hand signed letter from when Andy donated it to the museum. While the museum itself was kind of small, for $10.70, it was well work it while in Mount Airy.

I thought this was a reasonably priced attraction. I enjoyed the movie clips that could be found on one of the screens. I also enjoyed seeing the various memorabilia from the different main actors as it brought back memories. As soon as I spotted Barney’s tweed suit, I began to chuckle with memories of his performances. However, I think there could be more items in the attraction.

This was our first stop on our tour of Mt Airy/Mayberry. Definitely a good choice, because we were able to get brochures for other places, and the staff person was very helpful giving us directions to the places we wanted to visit next in the town.

Nice little museum 6 dollars to get in but no flash photography allowed. Only takes 15 to 20 minutes to see it.

The Andy Griffith Museum is small but it is FULL of authentic memorabilia. I enjoyed the visit and seeing the statue outside of Andy and Opie.

Everything you could possibly want to know about Andy Griffith, and his career. Lots of props and memorabilia from "The Andy Griffith Show", and the "Matlock" series, as well as his movies and records. Also lots of old photos and documents from his boyhood years... Well worth a look.

Well done but not large. Worth the $8.50 price tag and doesn't take too long. A cool respite on s hit summer day.

My family and I took a trip to Mt. Airy while visiting our son who lives in Huntersville, NC. The town itself is like stepping back in time, it is very quaint and worth the visit. The highlight was the Andy Griffith museum. The exhibits are done well and are very informative. I learned a lot about Mr. Griffith's life and the show itself. It is a must see if you are ever in the area.

A Photo with or of Andy's statue outside is a rite of passage for MAYBERRY Visitors. An interesting collection of photos, play bills, costumes and videos are on display inside.
The collection includes but is not limited to Barney's salt and pepper suit, Andy's sheriff shirt and badge, Otis White Hat and soiled sear sucker suit.and a replica of the courthouse entrance. There is a tribute to Betty Lynn and AuntBee but what is conspicuously missing is a display on Ronnie Howard and some reference to his many films post Mayberry accomplishments.
Why I thought it interesting and worthwhile I also think the $8 per person entry fee warrants a larger exhibit. I would say this activity exclusivly for fans of the tv show as non viewers will not relate. For visiting Mayberry fans attendance is mandatory.

Definitely worth the trip to visit there. Lots of old memories brought out. Price was reasonable to view this museum.

Loved seeing the actual clothing and props from the sets of the Andy Griffith Show. Never heard Mr. Griffith sing in his early career but there is a booth that you can see a movie clip of him singing. Wonderful museum to bring the family.

The admission fees for this place are $8 for adults and $6 for kids. There are audio guides available, but we just went without them. The museum starts with television history with Andy. There you will be able to see actual items that were used in the filming of the show. It's a very good museum. It's small, but it's packed with a lot of history in it. The admission fee also includes he Betty Lynn exhibit, the Siamese twins, and then the mural of Mayberry. Definitely worth a visit. Don't forget to get a picture in front of the iconic statue out front!

The museum tour was great. You walk through at your own pace. Quite a few exhibits to see, with original clothing and props from the Andy Griffith Show, and from the time Andy lived there. Very informative and interesting.
The Squad Car Tour was awesome! You must also walk downtown; lots of shops and places where Andy actually frequented. All the shop owners are so very nice and friendly. We had a wonderful time while we were there.
We highly recommend going to Mount Airy, NC.

This is a small museum of Andy Griffith memorabilia, recreated sets, and videos detailing Andy Griffith’s movie and television career. There is a tiny gift shop/ticket purchase area. We spent about 30 minutes. Out the door and down a set of stairs are two rooms with history about Eng and Chang Bunker, the Siamese twins who lived in the area and Betty Lynn who played Barney’s main squeeze Thelma Lou in the Andy Griffith Show. We spent about 30-45 minutes. This is worth a stop when visiting Mount Airy.

Memories were brought back from watching the show years ago. Seeing the outfits worn by cast was fun.

We had been to the museum several years ago and brought along another couple this time. It’s a great celebration of the life and career of Mt. Airy’s best-known son. The multi-media displays and tons of artifacts are excellent.

The museum is small but filled with great displays of memorabilia. We had fun looking at all of the displays, watching film clips and clips from classic Andy Griffith TV shows. History of some of the wardrobe used on the show. VERY small gift shop. The museum also houses the Chang and Eng museum which was very interesting as well. Follow signs, located under the Andy Griffith museum. The museum is easy to find, plenty of parking, reasonably priced, well worth a stop. .

If you are a fan of The Andy Griffith Show, then you will love this museum. There are artifacts from Andy's days attending school, the early years, and his career. There are videos playing of episodes while you walk around. Lots of memorabilia.

Remembering the show and how funny Barney Fife can be was fun. Also enjoyed another family visiting with young children. The children knew the characters and also liked Barney. Apparently they watch it at home and came to see the museum. Love it! Well done museum that captures highlights of popular show and performers. Thanks,

We visited while staying in the Mt. Airy area for a couple of days. The museum was a little tricky to find with Google maps, as it is "behind" the building of the Playhouse that is streetfront. The museum was small and didn't take very long to see, but filled very well with lots of really cool memorials and movie props. Your general admission also allows entry to two other nearby attractions. If you are and Andy Griffith fan, this is something you won't want to miss. The cost is inexpensive and there is a nice little gift shop inside.

A will worth stop, the museum was laid out in different sections, from a replica of the set of Mayberry, to a performing arts stage and the history with a film on the Chang and Eng Bunker, the Siamese Twins, their lives, marriages and 21 children.

Very Interesting & Educational! I highly recommend the stop, with or without family. There were a few facts I learned by the props provided. :)

Not very big, but cramed with exhibits throughout his acting career. Well displayed and good lighting made it easy to view the exhibits. They also had exhibits dedicated to the other cast members of the Andy Griffith Show. Cost was $8, it was worth it.

Love the museum
Love the whole town. A great place to visit and live.We go up there alot. Love Mayberry Days. Autumn Leaves Festival.

Definitely a neat place to visit ! Very clean and informative glad we decided to go. Learned a lot of things.

Spent 2 nights at a local B & B so we could enjoy Mt Airy. Make sure you tour this museum that is everything Andy Griffith. There are lots of displays.

We really enjoyed visiting Mayberry in Mt Airy. If you like reminiscing your childhood, head to Mayberry. We took a tour in the cop car. It was quite interesting. We also went to the museum of Mayberry and the museum of the Chinese Siamese twins right across the street.

Short story about the history of the show, characters. Character who played Thelma Lou was there signing autographs but limited number since she is her 90's now.

While the museum is very small there are a lot of fun, historical items from Andy Griffith's career with a lot of emphasis on "The Andy Griffith Show" including costumes, scripts, photographs and set pieces. It's really one large room so it's a quick view, around an hour or so. It's budget friendly and a great way to spend an hour or two living in a simpler time.

Toured museum, learning about Andy Griffith, Mayberry, etc. Not very big, was through in less than an hour. Had to hold back on whistling throughout the museum.

For anyone that is a fan of the Andy Griffith Show this is a must see. It is a small but very informative museum. It has some very nice pieces from the Andy Griffith Show along with other things that Andy Griffith was part of. You can hear Andy sing the Andy Griffith Show theme song along with other songs. You see his Matlock suit and other things from movies that he made. Down stairs is a small exhibit of things from Betty Lynn who played Thelma Lou on his show. She comes every third Friday and signs autographs for all the fans. All in all it is a definite stop if you are in town.

This is a very nicely done museum. It will take about an hour, give or take how much reading or watching you do. The statue of Andy and Opie stands out front. You will find displays and items fr other characters from the Andy Griffith Show, as well as info about Andy's life.

We enjoyed this museum very much. There was a lot of information contained in the displays which led to a great trip down memory lane. We were impressed at the care taken with the displays, as well as the personal touches. It gave a personal touch to the background of Andy.

This is a must see for Andy Griffith fans. Only $8. Worth the money. Nice things on display. Audio and video displays available.
Learn all about Andy
We had read that the admission charge of $8 would include the Andy Griffith Museum, Betty Lynn Exhibit, Siamese Twins Exhibit, and the Earle Theater so when we were downtown we bought our ticket at the Earle. Unfortunately, there was nothing going on there on a Monday although they were promoting ticket sales. Andy's museum is located in a nice building a few blocks from the Earle. It is a smallish place, on one floor, nicely laid out, attractive and clean. The Betty Lynn and Siamese Twins Exhibits are in a basement in a building next to the Andy Griffith Museum and are small but interesting. I really did not know that much about Andy and had only seen a few shows. The museum shows he was quite an accomplished person and an excellent comedian.
