We were in Hershey only overnight for a concert at Giant Center and had stopped for breakfast at The Pantry Cafe (which was amazing by the way, croissant french toast with strawberries and cream), and had asked the waitress what the adjoining building was. She told us it was a museum about Milton Hershey's life and we thought it sounded interesting. We paid the small fee (look on Groupon for discount) and we were not disappointed. Only takes a short amount of time to go through the whole museum but very informative and interesting. There was a lady working there who approached us as soon as we entered (Wish I had gotten her name) and she was very knowledgeable and shared a great deal of information with us about the Hershey's, we saw her again a couple times throughout the exhibit and she always had more information for us( she told us the Hershey's were supposed to be on the Titanic, but had to cancel due to business obligations requiring Mr. Hershey's attention.). Well worth your time and the money, and there is even a little gift shop.

This is a good once-in-a-lifetime trip to take. I thought the price was a bit much after having gone through the facility and seeing the exhibits based one what we had paid the day earlier at Gettysburg exhibits. However, everything is laid out nicely and it is interesting to hear how Mr. Hershey got started.
The staff is very friendly and we appreciated their kindness in the gift shop as we were trying to purchase something that didn't have a barcode. They had to keep calling different people to find out what to do and kept apologizing to us for the wait.
This was a good trip.

We brought our children, 6 & 9, to learn more about Milton Hershey. They signed up for the apprentice program, which made the tour more interesting for them. The only downside was that the pamphlet was not updated after the museum was renovated so it was a little frustrating for the kids when they couldn't find the answers to the questions. Plus, after every page we had to walk back to the front to get their book stamped.
I recommend trying the flight of chocolates, very yummy!
We didn't do the chocolate lab, so I can't comment on that. Looked fun tho!
All in all, it was a fun, informative visit. If you get hungry, there are a bunch of restaurants in walking distance!

I fould the museum to be quite interesting. I learned so much about the history of the Hershey organization and the giving spirit of mr. Hershey. It didn't take much of my time maybe 30-40 minutes to go through the entire museum.

This was my first time here and I enjoyed it a lot. There were things Mr. Hershey did that I never knew. It was a good learning experience and I would recommend it to anyone. If you like history, plan on being there for a while as it is a self tour and it does take time to read all the history presented.

We had a nice day at this museum. There is a lot of history presented in a way that kept our kids interested as well. Staff was friendly, I learned a lot and it was reasonably priced.

I had visited Hershey as a child and remembered some of the history, but this museum is re-imagined for the 21st century and is totally engaging. Each exhibit is well done, offering information accessible to all ages. Thoroughly enjoyable.

My husband and I visited The Hershey Story recently on a weekend getaway. We loved The Hershey Story. We did not do the chocolate lab (which is something I would do on my next visit), but we enjoyed the Chocolate Around The World section. It was one of the highlights of our visit. The museum was very informative. It has great exhibits mixed with interactive sections and short videos. We enjoyed learning about Milton Hershey and his journey to chocolate. We will definitely visit again .

Based on a lot of the reviews online, you should choose between visiting Chocolate World and Hershey Story. We actually did both because they worked best in our schedule. They are actually very different from each other so you can do both.
The Hershey Story has an admission fee ($13.50, $2 off if you stay at the Bluegreen Vacations or Suites at Hershey) while Chocolate World doesn't. We didn't do any of the chocolate labs or tastings because we got to this museum when it opened and the tastings didn't start until around 11am. If you want to spend money on that, then do it at Chocolate World OR Hershey Story.
This museum is mostly just reading and looking at exhibits about Hershey. We learned a lot about him and how he contributed to this town and a town in Cuba. The gift shop is tiny compared to Chocolate World so we didn't get anything.
For the price of admission, we expected more but when in Hershey, I guess it was a stop we needed to make. Look outside at the street when here. The light poles have Kisses for the lamps!!

This museum is large, clean, and has an extensive history of the Hershey chocolate company and its innovative founder. History was facinating. Museum is a passive experience--read or watch a movie with a few interactive displays. We enjoyed the chocolate tasting with six different hot chocolates from around the world.

Really enjoyed the history. Driver and staff were friendly and polite. We have no complaints about anything. Worth the money!

Stopped here with my Sweetie on the way to N.C. Did the taste testing and had fun. Bought some gifts and sweets for a few in the family. Lots of smiles and happy faces. People from all over here enjoying the chocolate. It was a great experience and break from driving. A must when traveling close. It is a good children friendly place. With all the lost history in our country this is also good education for everyone.

Such a fun and wonderful place to learn the history of the best candy bar ever. The story of Mr. Hershey and his journey is an inspiration

My husband and I both enjoyed the Hershey Story museum. This attraction is away from the amusement park so it was a little more low key. The museum had lots of interactive displays that would certainly keep kids engaged. There were several short movies throughout the facility as well. We finished our visit with a chocolate tasting experience which was really fun.

We really enjoyed all of the information and displays in the museum. The chocolate tasting is well worth the $12. The people were friendly and helpful.

This is the most boring museum I think we’ve ever been to. Bunch of mundane objects and repeating the community and vision of Milton Hershey. The making of chocolate doesn’t take up a whole museum so space is spent on endless repetition of the same message. You can read all of this on Wikipedia for free. Nice building though.

We enjoy history and learning about local people who made real history. The Hershey Story is a must stop for those who want to learn about Milton S. Hershey.

Nice museum reflecting Hershey history. Info laid out in easy-to-understand flow, sharing I fo via various formats, keeping interest of those who can read.
Interactive wooden coin (free at front desk) allows for extra info throughout the exhibits.
Currently an interesting smaller side exhibit on Hershey and Cuba.
Nice cafe on site.
Parking around back in garage.

We only stopped at the gift shop and the hot cocoa counter. You’ve got to try these! 6 chocolates from around the world.

Very informative. Did the Chocolate experience where you add marshmallows, pretzels to your melted chocolate. I think kids enjoyed it more than adults.

Although we visit the Hershey area every few years, this was the first time we went to the Hershey Museum and we are glad that we did! The exhibits do an excellent job with sharing Milton Hershey's life and legacy. If you are interested in a more in depth story about the history of Hershey, we recommend you spend some time at the museum. We didn't partake of the extras, we were more interested in just the museum itself.

Really nice small museum outlining the life of Milton Hershey and the Hershey empire. Enjoyed it! Great visit for the whole family.

The story of Milton Hershey, his company and his philanthropy are thoroughly presented through a series of displays. The main display covers Hershey PA and the display on the lower level (I am not sure if this is a permanent display or a special display.) covers the Hershey Company's Cuba operations.
The docents are well-informed and answered all of our questions thoroughly. The facility has an elevator and some seating scattered throughout. There is a shop on the first floor.

This museum was excellent. My 12 year old enjoyed it so much. It has interactive exhibits that provide just the right amount of information to keep the kids entertained. He is so neat to learn the story of Hershey chocolate.

This was an interesting visit. Not as big as ai thought but not bad considering we were with teenagers who lose interest quickly.

GPS directed us to the Hershey Story for the first stop in Hershey so we went in for our break. The museum was amazed me that it told all the story and history of the founder of Hershey's. The museum presents it in variety ways of vision facts. I felt I have learned a lot from there. Then we booked a chocolate lab tour where we learned how to make a chocolate hand-in. The overall experience were great.

It was very interesting, some interactive exhibits for the kids, and we liked the hot chocolate tasting the best!

Beautiful museum in heart of town. Fee supports Hershey Foundation. Mr. Hershey & his wife were incredible people. History shows he was a benevolent employer. Beautiful Time Line highlights when chocolate bars created/discontinued as well as historical events. The Hershey Ice Cream not on the Time Line so I will have to research that product. I noted 2 historical “facts” that are not accurate on the Time Line.

The building is absolutely beautiful. I felt the chocolate flights were with the money but the Chocolate Lab, not so much at all.
The history and stories offered are great. It set the tone for the rest of our trip so I'm glad we went on our first day.

This museum traces the history of the Hersey chocolate factory located in a factory town where everything is related to chocolate. It shows not only how chocolate is made but also how the history of the company evolved along American contemporary history.

We started our day at The Hershey Story right when they opened. It's a smaller sized museum, but we really enjoyed all the information. One of my children did the apprentice program, which comes with a little workbook with questions about the exhibits, and earned Hershey souvenir coin. One of my other children used the QR code reader to do a scavenger hunt of items in the exhibits. Both were given a large wooden token to swipe that would activate screens that would share narratives about Hershey's life and business. We learned a lot about this great American entrepreneur and philanthropist and left with a great respect for what he did in and with Hershey, PA. It was the perfect foundation to understand a trolley tour we took later at Chocolate World that showed the factory, community buildings, and school all built by Hershey.
We didn't have time to do any of the add-on activities at The Hershey Story. We were headed to Chocolate World next. We were able to get through the whole second floor (the bulk of the museum), but had to skip the Cuba exhibit to get to CW in time for our first timed ticket there. We did the second floor in an hour and 15 minutes, but I wish we'd had a little more time. If you're just seeing this one museum, I'd give it 2 hours (or more if you're trying to do the add-on experiences).
Since we did both HS and CW, I can wholeheartedly say that both are worth a visit. HS is a museum with a museum like experience. CW is mostly like a mini Disney World type experience, with the exception of the historic trolley tour, which is a great second course of sightseeing history after the first course in the HS museum. They work really well together. If you have to choose between one or the other, I'd have a hard time telling you which one to pick. If you have kids, they'll probably like CW more (although there are kids friendly add-on experiences at HS that might make up for skipping CW). I felt like the CW attractions were slightly more interesting-sounding than the ones at HS, but it all depends on your budget, schedule, and interests, I'm just glad that we go to do both. It was a lot to try and jam into one day, but it can be done. At first I was afraid I'd wasted money getting tickets for both, but I'm really glad we did both things.

Milton Hershey's story is amazing. More than just chocolate. From humble beginnings to far reaching philanthropy. Worth the visit. Small children may be bored. They may like the chocolate laboratory on the first floor.

Nice little museum that give one a history of Milton Hershey and the Hershey story. It is self guided so may not be great for families with young children

The museum is a self guided attraction. Lots of reading the time will run you about one hour. The story behind the founder of Hershey is very human and up for emulating. Lots of interesting facts about the town the man and the chocolate.
There's parking available

Really enjoyed getting to know more about the life of Milton Hershey. Great attraction, and accessible for strollers, wheel chairs etc. Would visit again.

While in Hershey, we spent one morning at the Hershey Story Museum. What a gem. The museum does an incredible job of telling the story of this incredible man with a giving heart.
The museum is a bit interactive, and has some wonderful timelines that help tell the story of what was happening in the country while Milton Hershey was building his business.
There is also an exhibit downstairs after you finish the main museum upstairs that tells the story of Milton Hershey establishing the sugar cane business in Cuba and how he really helped the people of Cuba too.
We had no idea of his history and were very impressed with the man and museum. The small gift shop also has some Hershey themed items that Chocolate World does not.
Well worth the visit.

This museum is amazing..so much information on how Hershey Chocolate came to be..the process...the history and the man himself...lots of interacting exhibits ..we almost missed seeing how the chocolate was smoothed out so read each section to get the full benefit of the museum .
Highly Recommend
This is in downtown Hershey..there's easy parking right behind the building.
We purchased this ticket with the Hershey Gardens Ticket at a savings.
This museum is in downtown Hershey and you will need to drive there ..they will give you the directions at the desk .
It's a short drive.

A few hours well spent. An inspiring story of how a man built community while running a successful business. I would thoroughly reccommend

Very interesting although I would of liked a little taste included. The hostess were very friendly and helpful.

Having already visited Chocolate World, one could have reached their chocolate limit, but not me! I enjoyed learning more about Mr. Hershey, his challenges and successes and his philanthropic deeds as well as all this museum has to offer. The exhibits are well done, very explanatory and engaging. And of course the Chocolate Lab! making my own chocolate, and sampling it too!

We had a bery enjoyable time learning the Hershey story. It was early on a Tuesday when we were there so didn’t have to wait for videos or displays.

Amazed at all of the philanthropic things the hershey family did for workers and the community of Hershey, Pennsylvania. Interesting to see the different candies made by hershey.

Very informative museum. Not only information on chocolate making, but on Mr. Hershey and his whole life story, including his time in Cuba. Very interesting and a great value. Well worth a few hours to go through the whole museum. Also if you are a chocolate lover do the chocolate tasting. It's limited hours in the middle of the day and costs extra but interesting sampling and comparing the six different chocolates from around the world. We parked across the main street on a side street for free but they do have a free parking garage.

The museum itself is interesting. We paid $20 extra each for The Lab, because we would learn about mixing and making chocolate. It sounded very interesting and “hands on “. All we did was pour some melted chocolate into a mold and put some sprinkles on it! The rest was a lecture and video presentation. Not worth time or $.

Although it was included in our Hershey Lodge package, it was not what we had expected. As with everything in Hershey it seems, you pay extra for tastings or anything other than self guided walking tour. Thought we would go through the actual factory and see how it is made but not so.

Very interactive and full of stories about the company and the community. My kids loved the personalization of the token - they wished we could take it home.

Listen, you might like Hershey Park with all its activities and the wonderful chocolates that accompany your time there, but it is really incredible to learn about Milton Hershey. His life story is quite interesting, and I never realized how much of a philanthropist he was till I visited the museum. You could easily spend two hours there. There's also a wonderful cafe attached to the museum. It was closed while we were visiting, possibly because of Covid issues, but if it's open when you go, be sure to enjoy some food there.

Most of the information was a review for us after watching a number episodes about Mr Hershey on the Smithsonian and History channels. Able to see a few artifacts in person. We did enjoy a flight of hot chocolates from around the world.

I learned so many fascinating facts about Mr. Milton Hershey --a real giver back to the community. I really enjoyed the interactive museum exhibits, especially designing my own chocolate factory assembly line and chocolate bar wrappers which I could email to myself. Wonderful exhibits, and a surprising call to action at the end when I dispensed of the Hershey's wooden coin I had. Well worth it!

Still fun. The Hershey Story Museum is quite fun as well as informative and fun. Would I visit again? Yes. Would I recommend? Definitely when in Hershey.

Great experience for a family with teens. Several interactive displays were great for our active boys, age 11 and 14. We thought the Chocolate Lab experience was fun and appropriately priced at $12. The chocolate bar experience at Hershey World is more elaborate, but over twice the price, so if you don't have young kids who need a lot of bells and whistles (and sprinkles in their candy bar), this was really fun for our whole family!

The museum is interesting and informative. It gave us a whole new perspective on chocolate and the man who evolutionised chocolate in this country.

Takes an hour or two, informative information on Mr. Hershey and the chocolate factory. Chocolate tastings, cafe, and gift shop.

This museum is a wonderful place for kids to learn the history behind the Hershey company and Mr. Hershey.

Milton Hershey was a truly wonderful and amazing man. He persevered to overcome the obstacles of making affordable chocolate in the USA. Thank goodness!
He also did so much for the town of Hershey as an employer and as a citizen.

This is a museum dedicated to Milton Hershey his innovations and inventions. It's a great story about how he came up with the milk chocolate idea and how he built the town. As well as his wife and his dedication to making their workers and their children's lives better. A not so common notion for factory towns of the time. But it is just a museum, So it's exhibits behind glass with historical facts. Little ones could get bored very quickly.

We visited the Hersey museum on a Saturday. There were a number of people also visiting that day but it wasn’t overcrowded. We were able to go through the museum at a leisurely pace. We spent about an hour and a half going through the exhibits. We also participated in a “Chocolate Lab”. We made our own s’mores bars. Yum!

I enjoyed learning about Hershey the company and the community in which it grew. Very informative and interesting facts, especially liked the Cuba exhibit (where they produce sugar at one time). It is a lot of reading versus hands on experience. Although they do have an option to pay extra for the chance to learn and make something but we did not do that. They have a timeline for Hershey inception through current in parallel with a history timeline which was interesting.

Good history of Hershey and a delicious opportunity to sample 6 types of chocolate from around the world.

Best part was the chocolate tasting. $10 and 6 shots of chocolate from around the world. 4 of us shared and there was still plenty left.

Very interesting and comprehensive museum covering the history of the Hershey Chocolate Company. Definitely worth a visit! There are special activities available, too, including a chocolate tasting. The cafe in the museum was a nice spot to grab lunch.

The museum was really neat, learning all about Milton S Hershey and his empire, from humble beginnings to his massive breakthrough and success. One of my favorites was the Chocolate Flight, where you try six different warmed drinkable chocolates from around the world. It was amazing , I would definitely recommend stopping by here, next time I plan on visiting a few other Hershey places

Fantastic museum. They made it really fun to learn the history of Mr. Hershey and it was a great experience for the family.
We got tickets as part of a Hershey package. Definitely worth it.

Went looking for something relaxing to do on a weekend away. Price wasn’t bad and learned a lot about the area from the interactive displays

A most interesting and detailed look into the life and times of a true American entrepreneur. Milton Hershey was truly one of a kind and an inspiration to anyone who wants to achieve greatness. The exhibit was nostalgic and yet playful at times.

We spent 2 hours in the museum and learned a lot. The information made us want to explore the town and learn more.

We learned so much about the man who had success and failures and turned those failures around. The Hershey story is told in a two story interactive museum, great presentation and lots of information. We were only going to be there a short while but ended up staying 3 hours. Mr. Hershey not only built his chocolate factory, but a town as well, A town with homes his workers could afford, schools, community places, This led to happy factory workers, You can take a tour of the chocolate lab and learn how chocolate is made and even make candy yourself. Truly learned more about Mr. Hershey and the Hershey company than I ever knew. A must see in Hershey. And plan to spend several hours.

I learned so much about the life of Milton Hershey. There is a lot of reading, some artifacts, and machinery. I didn't get a chance to do the chocolate lab. There is a little gift shop that offers a few additional things that Chocolate World did not.

This was our first stop in Hershey and it gave us a great overview of the man who started it all, the chocolate process, and the whole development of the town. The displays are easy to follow and I didn't mind that it was a "do it yourself" tour. I had never known anything about Milton Hershey and came out with a great appreciation for a very decent and interesting business person. There's more info here than at Hershey World, but the info is similar to one of the historic trolley tours - but in a very different format.

After a few days at Hershey Park, it was nice to visit the museum and see how it all began. It was a very family friendly experience from the special “H” coin, interactive exhibits to the “coin wish” at the end. Staff is welcoming and knowledgable.

This is a wonderful museum and is so informative on Milton Hershey. He was not only a business man with a 4th grade education, but also gave his fortune to a school for orphaned boys. He lived the American dream and gave away his fortune. When you go- you must sample the chocolate from around the world! So interesting!

This was a very entertaining as well as an educational experience. Mr. Hershey’s story is one of true inspiration. The staff was very friendly and courteous. This is a must if you visit Hershey.

Milton Hershey is such an inspiration.
It might be too cheesy to say, but we got really inspired coming out of the museum.
I really recommend visiting the museum when you are around the area. In here, you’ll read all of the failures and achievements that Milton Hershey had in starting the well known Hershey chocolate.
You will do a lot of reading, and I mean a lot! You go around the museum and read. But of course in the end, it is always worth it.
Don’t forget to try the Chocolate Lab and the Flavors of the world while here. We didn’t get to try the lab since little ones are not allowed. I am not sure of the cut off age, but ours was only 2.
Flavors of the world was delicious. You get to try chocolate in a shot glass from 6 different countries.

Good history of Hershey with various artifacts to view. Tour took us about 2 hours, depends on reading speed.

Staff: friendly and helpful
Museum Part: informative, well laid out. Elevator for 2nd floor
Chocolate tasting: fine
Chocolate Lab: nice for adults too but nothing much on making the candy. That was only part that disappointed the 10 yr old. No imagination or creativity to do it.
Bathrooms: clean
Parking: Free

Trip was included as part of our bus tour. Venue is just a gimmick to sell candy and souvenirs. My wife says I should have visited before I became a grumpy grandpa. Lol

I enjoyed the Hershey Story. It was a little confusing as to the direction to walk so I went out of chronological order. Overall, very enlightening!

Our family left he Hershey Park and drove to the Hershey Story. We really enjoyed visiting this museum. We learned so much about Mr. Hershey and his legacy. If you want the history of the man and the town, then this is the place to visit. It is very educational and informative. Our 17 year old daughter enjoyed it too! Well worth a visit if you are traveling to Hershey, PA.

This was fun! happened to walk in and find new and exciting things about Hershey we never knew and got to make chocolate too!! you have to try this

This is a really informative museum all about Milton Hershey and the Hershey Company. It offers interactive exhibits for adults and children alike. There are videos to watch to expand on the knowledge you learn here. The gift shop is also nice to look around in.
We love museums (two adults and a 10 year old) and we highly recommend this one!

Most don't know that Hershey isn't just a town for amusement rides & chocolate! I don't want to ruin any surprises -- so head over to The Hershey Story. The staff are the friendliest and want the best visit for you or you + your family. You can go alone, with a family, on a date or with a large group. My advice? Book the chocolate tastings before you go! There is a cafe, it is a smaller location of The Hershey Pantry, inside The Hershey Story -- their coffee drinks are good!

A true successful story of the American opportunity and what good a person can do with their success and wealth to lift up others.

I really enjoyed getting to know Milton Hershey - what an amazing story and man. This is really worth a visit when going to Hershey. If you like history and human interest stories - this is a must.

If you appreciate social-cultural history, this is for you! As seniors of a certain age, we devoured the minutiae of Milton Hershey’s life…hadn’t known that they used cocoa shells as mulch and that a graduate of the Milton Hershey School had played for the Minnesota Vikings! We loved learning about a man who was both a very successful business person (after his first few endeavors had failed) and extraordinary philanthropist, both at the same time. Reading about the home/school that he started for orphans was particularly moving. We also enjoyed the special exhibit on Bill Dearden (Milton Hershey School graduate turned Hershey CEO). Both of us enjoyed sharing the flight of chocolate drinks to finish up our two-hour visit.

They took our temperature before entering. It was clean and the staff was friendly. They had a very clean park and lots of rides at the amusement park

Cheaper than some of the other things in the area but the little kids weren’t thrilled. A lot of vintage Hershey packaging and advertisements but nothing really about Milton’s childhood. Not crowded, so that was nice. We probably would have enjoyed it more if there were more interactive exhibits that aren’t just screens. I don’t like that modern museums are relying so heavily on screens.

We bought the Hershey Gardens combo ticket and I’m so happy we did. I visited with my mother in law and 12 year old daughter. My MIL and I thought it was such an interesting look in Hershey’s life! My daughter is at that age where museums aren’t really cool, but I caught a few smiles when she started the kiss machine, ‘built’ the chocolate machine on the interactive screen, and sampled the drinking chocolate (we ordered the full flight which was perfect for splitting 3 ways). The employees are very friendly. Lots of interesting artifacts as well!

Having already visited Hershey Park, we decided to venture out to something a bit more historical. Quite interesting exhibits and we learned a great deal about Mr. Hershey himself.
We decided to experience the Chocolate Lab to learn about how chocolate is made. A bit disappointing because the chocolate was pre made and we just poured it into a mold and waited for the final chocolate product.
It was an experience but more fun was had by my 2 nine year old nieces.

This is an interesting museum worth checking out while you’re in Hershey. It has nice displays and artifacts. While you’re here it’s also worth trying the chocolate flight the offer in the lobby.

This is a very nice museum. I learned so much about the history of Hershey. The chocolate flight is delicious.

This Hershey museum was very well organized and placed out from the beginnings of Milton Hershey and items noted changes within the company all the way up through 2020 that we could see.

There were so many interesting things to learn about Milton Hersey and his success. It leaves you feeling inspired and wanting to conquer the world. The most amazing part is how his legacy and company still flourish more than 60 years after his death.

This was a relaxing, but if you have trouble walking up stairs, make sure you take the elevator located on the ground floor just off the staircase. Learning all the fun facts about Milton Hershey and how he built the company.

Very interesting education on our early industry and entrepreneurs.Mr Hershey has quite a story much more than one would think. There's even a lab to make your own chocolate bar.

It was very nice to see the history. It's a self-guided tour. My daughter and I enjoyed it and especially enjoyed doing the chocolate tasting at the end. If you're a teacher you get a $3 discount off of admission!

Once you know the story of Milton Hershey everything else will mean so much more. The museum takes you through every stage of his career, his failures and successes, his ventures in Cuba, his development of Hershey and Central Hershey, and his decision to leave his wealth to the school trust. Fascinating story of success and generosity will move you to do more for your community. Hard work, ingenuity, and generosity win the day. Make sure you try the liquid chocolates from around the world. It’s 10.00 for a flight of 6 but it’s like a wine tasting (sans alcohol of course) where you can taste the difference in terroir. Took us 2-3 hours to get through the interactive museum.

This was one of the best museums we've ever visited with respect to illustrating the life story and contributions of an individual. We had no idea how much went into the building of this town and how hard Hershey worked to make a better life for his workers. Very impressive piece of history and well executed. If we had more time, we would have loved to do the chocolate lab and tasting.

very interesting, kids had fun doing the scavenger hunt, knowledgeable and friendly staff. the chocolate lab was fun for the kids, but not really much involved - pour some chocolate in a mould, add some candy and call it done!

This was such an interesting place if you like history! There was so much great information about Hershey

What a show and experience. We enjoyed the event after a day exploring Hershey. A worthwhile attraction at least once.

Not a bad little museum, lots of information. Highly recommend going and trying the flight of world chocolates. We truly enjoy it.

We visited here while in Hershey. After hearing the Hershey story and the great wealth of the Hershey Trust, it felt like this should have been free to visit or at least included for free with a Hershey Chocolate World attraction package, mansion tour, garden tour, etc.

We got free passes with our stay at the Hershey Lodge and in the afternoon after visiting the Chocolate Factory we decided to come here. It was great! It was the perfect amount of time for a 5 year old and a 11 year old. It didn't bore them. It is not huge which is also a plus! We learned a lot!

This was a very well done museum that was not on our list of places to stop. But we passed it and were intrigued, so went in. This museum is a great mix of things about Milton Hershey and how the company evolved as well as history lessons interwoven into the displays. There were many interactive things to do from playing videos to designing candy bars. And I learned a ton about Milton Hershey that I didn't know.
There was a holiday event for kids that involved finding a bunch of elves around the museum. They were very well placed inside displays and it was fun to watch them being discovered. There was also a chocolate lab-type class that was very well attended.
The building is beautiful, the layout very easy to follow, and the entire place was clean. Staff was helpful. Discounts for Seniors, Military, Teachers and others made this a value!

My husband & I spent 2 days in Hershey Pennsylvania. We went to the Hershey Story Museum and enjoyed the displays. We did the “Hot Chocolates from Around the World” & the “Chocolate Lab”. Both were excellent. The hot chocolates compared different strengths of cacao from different countries mixed with water, cream or milk. In the lab they show the process of making chocolate from the moment of hand harvesting to end product & how Hershey perfected it. You also get to pour & construct your own white &/or dark chocolate bars. Well worth the time & money spent. We then went to “World of Chocolate. We did the free “factory tour” ride. It was cute & informative, but geared mostly toward kids. It is nothing like a real factory tour. Hershey’s actual factory doesn’t do tours anymore. The retail area was extremely crowded & filled with rowdy children. This part of the day was not enjoyable & we left immediately. That evening we visited the Cassel Winery & were very impressed with it. The tastings were very good & the employees very helpful & knowledgeable. We enjoyed crackers & cheeses with our wine while listening to very good band music. Highly recommend!!

I really enjoyed this museum! It was very interesting and my son really enjoyed the scavenger hunt that he was given to complete. I really enjoyed seeing the machines and learning more about Hershey.

The history of Milton Hershey is interesting, and is certainly worth learning of his contributions to the town and the history of chocolate making. The museum was full of appropriate artifacts and history. But, this museum is not for young kids. They were bored and anxious to leave.

I guess I went to the wrong place because we were done in 5 minutes at the boring museum, everything you can see online for free. I'm a single mom and wasted $50.

Your hotel is beautiful!
We were headed to our grandson's graduation from bootcamp at Fort Jackson, South Carolina

This is a wonderful museum telling the story of Milton Hershey and how Hershey candy began. It is beautifully illustrated and has actual items from the Hershey family. I would recommend this for families with children because it is very kid friendly. They have a scavenger hunt and many videos. Whereas most of the explanations of the exhibits may be too hard for the children to read, there are enough videos that they should be able to follow the entire exhibit. There is a nice gift shop at the end with several children’s books and a few souvenirs plus lots of candy!
I was only disappointed in one thing. Near the end of the museum story is a timeline of events happening in the country throughout the years. One of the final entries on the timeline was January 6 and supporters of Donald Trump “storming “ the capital. It seems that a lot was done for the state of PA during President Trump’s term especially in the field of energy. It was very disappointing that this is what the museum directors chose to put in their timeline. I left there with a sad feeling after such a wonderful experience to that point. I think Mr. Hershey would be disappointed too.

What a pleasant surprise at the Chocolate Story. I learned so much about Milton Hershey, chocolate, and the Hershey company.
This experience was truly a 'treat'. I was so impressed and moved about Milton Hershey's human spirit.
I would visit here, again.

The Hershey Story Museum is a great place to spend a few hours. The self-guided tour is very informative. We learned a lot that we didn't know about Milton Hershey and the history of the company. They have a very nice gift shop and an awesome café.

About half an hour for $15. They do have the chocolate lab, which is a class about making chocolate for $10 more. The museum is all about Milton Hershey. How he got started and grew into the Hershey of today. Seemed very 1-sided. I would have liked to know where the money came from to start, something I missed. Staff are super friendly, warm place on a cold day.

My daughter and I just visited the museum on Friday, April 2nd. We had a great time at this museum learning about Milton Hershey and how he created the Hershey company.

Fantastic place to visit. So much history and very informative. Price is very reasonable, staff is very helpful. Enjoy the history

Well laid out museum using a variety of exhibit types to tell the story of how Hershey came to be. Capstone was a chocolate flight tasting.

It has been years since we visited the Hershey Story, but true to form, there is a fresh new treatment to the legacy that is Milton S. Hershey and the Hershey Chocolate Company. You can enjoy it in any level of detail, making it a great choice for groups of any age. Be it a rainy afternoon or a steamy summer morning, take a break and take in the magic of The Hershey Story.

Friendly staff. Easy to navigate. Information station token is a nice touch and good idea. We enjoyed the chocolate tasting experience.

This was a great museum. Really enjoyed the interactive exhibits where you could design your own Hershey bar wrapper and the interactive video exhibits. I’d suggest taking the time to sit down and watch the three different videos that play throughout the museum. They were interesting and we learned a lot from them.

A bucket list item. We had a wonderful time. It is a selfguided tour for about nine dollers each. Learned a couple things about Mr. Hershey I did not know. A very interesting and generous man.

Really looked forward to going here, but was disappointed in ticket cost for what we saw/did. Information was good and vintage packaging fun to see, but we were very surprised no free candy to try/takeaway at the end. What food museum doesn't give out a little something, even just a Hershey miniature or kiss to say thanks for coming?Plenty of candy to buy in the gift shop for $$$ of course, wouldn't go back.

We loved the Hershey wooden chips so the kids could activate videos and we enjoyed designing the kisses line.

This place is a great place to learn about the history of Milton Hershey & the great legacy that he left behind. Be sure to stop and watch the two short (approx 5 minutes movies), they are very good and informative. They have multiple personal antiques of Mr. Hershey hanging on walls which was pretty cool to see. I would not recommend bringing small children & teenagers who are not interested in history and reading about history, they will get bored. Today’s world could use more men like Milton Hershey!

If you enjoy ineteractive museums, this is a very fun place. A lot of history about the Hershey company and Milton Hershey. Kids will like fhe short films and interacive displays. Much more modern than the old museum near the amusement park. This is located downtown. Reasonable price. Has a cafe with decent food, a “lab” that offers something more to do, like make a chocolate bar for an extra fee, and chocolate tastings.

A must do while in hershey. Located in downtown section. Museum gives history of Milton Hershey from the beginning. Learned so much besides just chocolate. Milton Hershey the man was a great man from making his town built around chocolate to The school that bears his name for underprivileged children. He had a amazing heart which still true to this day. Lots of information about chocolate making process. Definitely would recommend

We have been to Hershey World a number of times and taken the tour there as well as the streetcar tour of the city. This museum gave us so much more in depth information about Hershey, his wife, etc. There was a special part about Hershey Cuba where he got most of his sugar, very interesting. Having the "coin" to put in front of various displays for more information was a great idea.

It was very interesting to learn about the life of Milton Hershey and to realize his struggles but never yielding belief in himself and his ideas.

We stopped in Harrisburg overnight on our way to the East coast to catch a cruise and took in the Hershey Story Museum before heading back on the road. What a beautiful an interesting museum it is! Seemed more for adults than children! The docents there were so knowledgeable and we were fascinated with their tales of Milton Hershey, his company, and the town he built. We wished we had known that the town has a beautiful theater Hershey built....we would have loved to have see "Jersey Boys" which was playing there!

Interesting seeing the life of MIlton and his travels throughout his life. Nice day trip to spend an hour or two!

The Museum was good, but not amazing. If your looking for something to do on a rainy day then this is ok, I wouldn’t bring kids. It is amazing the things Hershey did.

The wall info was interesting, but all spread out and hard to keep my focus.
People were all over and often blocking displays.
You will really want to have a half day to dedicate to walking around and reading and watching videos.
The museum starts and ends on the second floor.
I found it rather lame that we have to pay for a tasting ticket just to order and get a hot chocolate. The tasting is only for the melted chocolate.
$30 entry for two adults without the lab or the chocolate tasting.

Lots of interesting facts about milton hersey.very informative about hersey chocolate.lots of kids which elevated noise level on top of automated voices giving information.if noise level was lower would have given a 5

It never ceases to amaze me about the generosity of Milton Hershey. The Museum gives an account of his life as well as an account of the history of the company. Obvious marketing ploy, but truthful and very interesting.

What a treat! This museum was excellent (and I can say that because I worked in a museum). It was laid out perfectly and easy to navigate.
You start out by taking the elevator (or you can walk up the front grand staircase) to the start of the museum. Self-guided, but there are docents to start your visit at the top of the staircase or when you get off the elevator. The docents are well educated about Milton S. Hershey. The exhibits are in great shape and the story about Milton Hershey and how he created Hershey Chocolate and the town of Hershey was fascinating. There are a bit of activities for engaging children along the way as well as photo-ops and short films to watch.
At the end of touring the museum, you can visit the gift shop and there is a coffee/snack shop there too. Everything was clean and modern. Parking is behind the building in a parking garage and is free. You can spend about 1-2 hours in the museum or longer if you like.
The next time we are in Hershey, we are going to visit this museum again, it was our first time.

A good deal more than an extended commercial for Hershey’s, although it’s pretty effective in that regard. I learned a lot about Milton Hershey and how he came to establish this chocolate empire and was impressed by his story. I feel more attention could have been paid to what did not go so well in his life, although mention was made. I enjoyed learning how the chocolate is produced. It gave me more respect for the product, despite my being something of a dark chocolate snob.

This museum tells the story of Mr. Hershey and his journey to develop and market milk chocolate to the masses. Several interactive displays and programs, including the opportunity to sample 6 chocolates from around the world. The Hershey story also emphasizes Mr. Hershey's philanthropy and his creation of a model city - Hershey, PA - to meet the needs of all citizens. There is also an interesting description of the mission, vision and operation of the Hershey School. Educational and interesting.

This gave the fascinating story of Milton and Kitty Hershey. We enjoyed the exhibits immensely. It may not be appropriate for young children but there were lots of children when we were there. There are movies, interactive screens and the staff are well versed in the history.

When we first arrived the woman who sold us are tickets was great! She took time on her own to find us the best deal for our tickets with Groupon and veterans discounts! The museum was very informative and my boys 10 and 12 enjoyed the scavenger hunt. We also went in the food lab and made bird nest eggs, again ladies running it were great! Last we did the cocoa tasting which was worth it, very neat to try chocolate from different countries. All the ladies working the day we went were very helpful.

I was surprised by the Hershey Story. It’s a pretty interesting place, with lots of fun history. It doesn’t take too long to get through. There are sone good videos, and different exhibits. I recommend the chocolate tasting. Well worth it. We had a groupon coupon, that included it.

Seems like there has been a lot of thought and curation for the story content. Brought the kids there to teach them the history of such an iconic candy bar and how a man had a vision.
The only thing I wish they would include is some of the back story that was presented in the show, "The Food that made America" on the History Channel. That show is what really sparked our interest to learn a little more about Hershey, PA. In the show it explained that Milton Hershey discovered "chocolate" while traveling abroad and wanted to bring it to the states and build a bustling business. So what Hershey did was build an entire town around his factory before he even had a product to sell. Seeing his vision come to fruition was an amazing visual and made us want to show our children.
With that addition to the story I believe all the exhibits inside would tie in nicely to what Hershey did and how the foundation has made critical donations that were essential in the growth of Hershey, PA.
If you're in town or planning a trip see the story and walk down the block and see the factory that they have, it's just amazing to fathom how one man had a vision started it and built a large town to this day.
The coffee shop has great drinks and treats if you would like something quick. We had a hot chocolate and some chocolate covered bacon (figured we would try it). Personally I didn't really like it but my daughter did but I figure you have to try things out.

Does not justify a separate admission. Very little to see. Should be included with an overall park ticket purchase

Enjoyed reading about how Milton Hershey developed the city and invested in his workers. Good museum- kids may get bored easily.

My family spent a weekend in Hershey and did EVERYTHING. This was the absolute best thing. The Chocolate Lab was better than making your own candy bar at Chocolate World and the tasting bar was better than Chocolate Unwrapped. Hearing Hershey’s story was inspiring. I loved this.

Had to stop in here, love those Kisses. Got here early in the morning, which was perfect as there was very few people here. Small admission charge but it was worth it. The Hershey story is very interesting. Loved hearing about the town's history and development along with the Reese story. Don't miss the Cuba Room, more great stories there too. Had a very good visit and it was worth going into town just to see those lamp posts too.

We went to the Hershey Story and Chocolate Lab while visiting Hershey, PA. It was a neat museum and we learned interesting facts on Milton Hershey's life. We made delicious chocolate treats in the Chocolate Lab. It was a great morning event for our family

If you'd like to learn of the legacy of the Hershey family, take this bus ride and trip throughout the town of Hershey.

Interesting place to visit but a bit pricey. Hershey was a remarkable man and the museum did well in telling his story.

Our family started off our visit to Hershey visiting the museum. It was very well done with fun and creative interactive video exhibits about the Hershey story. We learned so much about the man and his positive impact on the city. We also attended a chocolate class where we learned the process of making chocolate and made our own S’more Chocolate bar. The instructors were very good and entertaining. Lastly we did try some baked sweets from the cafe. De-lish! Definitely recommend the museum for adults and families with teens. Young kids probably won’t get much out of the visit.

This museum is user-friendly and so informative. Milton Hershey was a fascinating man. Not only creative but very generous and caring of his employees and the world at large. You won't need more than an hour or hour an and a half to tour this small museum. There are short films in it and interactive displays. There is a neat gift shop and a small cafe with excellent food adjacent to the museum.

Had an excellent time at The Hershey Story Museum. Glad I opted to go to the Chocolate Lab to make my own candy. Also the history of cocoa was very interesting.

We did this as afternoon trip from Lancaster. Was very interesting and informative. The chocolate tasting was really cool and fun

We were in town for a half day and had a little time so we decided to check this place out. It is somewhat interesting, but basically just a large full life commercial for Hershey's. You can get the history in a book or online. Nothing in the place was worth the price of admission.
You can park for free (up to 3 hours) in the garage and lot behind the building. So at least that part was goo. The gift shop was small and the only interesting things were the extremely large candy bars.

This museum is extremely well done and interactive which is a huge plus! I've always been fascinated by the story of Milton Hershey and how he created this town around his factory...and of course I love his chocolate. If you ever want to learn about his story then you definitely want to make this a stop on your next road trip. It was so informative and the staff was really friendly! We didn't do the chocolate tastings because we had to get back on the road but do that if you get the chance. There is plenty of free parking on site and as you walk up to the building be sure to look up at the street lights....they are Hersheys kisses!

I loved learning about Mr Hershey and his legacy. As a small business owner myself, it was inspiring to see his journey through failure to success, and the innovations and passion he had not only for his business, but for his employees and community. The staff was very helpful and genuinely proud to relay stories of living and growing up in Hershey. A great way to spend a couple hours!!

Tickets to the museum were included with our stay at Hershey Lodge. Learned about the foundation of the company. Very interesting account of Hershey support from sugar canes in Cuba. Two year old daughter enjoyed the hands on exhibit and building blocks area on the first floor, but was bored upstairs where other displays were. Mural was great- has that 3D effect. Museum has The Pantry Cafe next to it-tried the chocolate dipped bacon, was ok. Chocolate Lab was next to it also but we didn’t go since kids have to be 5 in order to go in. Parking garage is right next to the museum. Very nice stop overall.

This is a first class presentation of the life of Milton Hershey and his legacy.
Great for all ages.
Lots of chocolate tasting if you choose.
Nice gift shop with reasonably priced items.
Cafe.
Free parking.
Admission is complimentary if you stay at the Hershey Lodge.

A tour of this museum was included in our Hotel Hershey reservation. Once we found it, we enjoyed our visit. The museum is a little difficult to find and road signs don’t seem to be very adequate. It is located on West Chocolate Ave. in town with a large free parking lot next door.
This museum covers the history of Milton Hershey and his businesses as well as the park and all associated activities, the school, and the town itself. The museum is on the second floor. Since we had a voucher, we were told to turn it in at the first-floor visitors desk.
Once that was done, our tour started on the second floor. It was a very good and informative experience with many interactive displays. Back on the first floor we saw another exhibit on Hershey’s business in Cuba before the revolution.
Also on the first floor is Lisa’s Café on Chocolate. Very easy to access and no need to leave the building.

So interesting to learn the personal history of the man behind the chocolate 🍫. An inspiring story. Worth the time especially when bundled with the Hershey Gardens.

Well presented history of Milton Hershey and the town. Personalized kiosks add to the displays. A very well maintained museum. Staff is very helpful.

We have done the Hershey tour years ago where you saw the factory and rode a little train. This is a museum. Told the history of Hershey very thoroughly but it was pretty bland. We didnt wait in line for the chocolate lab. If you have no knowledge of Hershey it would be interesting.

The history of Milton Hershey and his wife was so interesting. He was determined man and was very good to his employees. The museum does a very nice job of showing the history of how the town of Hershey came about. There is also a nice cafe at the museum. The only negative thing was the price of the candy and items, overpriced.

We visited during a family reunion in Hersey and attained an American Sign Language interpreter for deaf and deaf-blind guests we had with us. The leadership staff demonstrated exceptional skills in coordination and support. The tour was impressive as so many others report here, however, you couldn't beat the superb planning and accommodating skills of the museum staff.

Loved it here.Very clean Norman Rockwell town. Very friendly. Great entertainment, and great food. check out Hershey gardens, Hershey Park and factory.

We had a great time learning about Milton Hershey. He was an excellent person. We were in awe when we left there such a great place.

We spent about two hours here and really enjoyed it. The format was easy to follow and not overwhelming and we appreciated learning more about the origins of Hershey and about making chocolate.

The Hershey Story Museum is much more than a museum. It tells the story of Milton Hershey and his family life.

Milton Hershey's story is inspirational and it is captured here in the museum. Take your time in viewing the exhibits. This is more than just about a manufacturing company and you will see that here.

I have to admit, this is not the place I intended to visit, nor do they make it very clear when you buy tickets. This is not a kid friendly place except for the hot chocolate tasting and the chocolate lab ( for which you have to pay extra, each). The museum presents history of the Hershey company and the biography of Milton Hershey. Nothing you can’t learn in a Wikipedia article in about 5 minutes. I think the admission should be free with the purchase of tasting or the lab. The tasting of 6 chocolates is $10 ($6 kids). You can just buy one tasting of 6 and share. All you need is a sip. Our favorite hot chocolate was from Tanzania. The lab was $13.50 for adults $9.50 for kids
and included the making of one chocolate bar and a lecture about chocolate growth and manufacturing. You literally pour two spoonfuls of chocolate into the mold. It does not involve much, but my kids liked it. We went to the chocolate world afterwords and it literally had all the Same Information free of charge. It is more crowded though, but worth the price. Save your time and money and avoid Hershey, The Story. If you must go , just lay for the tasting or the lab.

Tells the story of the amazing Hershey family, their building the chocolate factory and also building housing, schools and support for the community.

Visited today with grandkids 4 and 9. The staff was amazingly helpful and pleasant and the kids had a blasting the 9 year old learned a lot. Also did the Chocolate Lab (extra fee) and it was well worth it!

Good overview and history lesson Hershey, the town and the man. We enjoyed this and also the chocolate tasting as well.

Very well laid out museum. Kids stay active collecting info for their little guide book. Lots of interactive exhibits and movies. Very modern. I learned a lot as an adult and even little ones picked up a few tidbits. I would highly recommend. Much more in depth on the production compared to Chocolate Town.

This was the best museum we've ever been to! There was a perfect combination of interactive experiences and information. The kids got to personalize the experience, so every time they used their token to play a scene, it displayed their names. We wished we had more time to spend here. It is really worth the time!

If you are looking for insight into the man who founded the Hershey Company, started a school for orphaned boys, and created a successful corporate town in the middle of Pennsylvania dairy country, this museum is a great insight into his legacy and the history of the area.
If you want to learn more about how Hershey's chocolate is made, Chocolate World may be more your speed. But you can easily do both in one day, so it's a win/win.
The museum uses some new technology involving wooden coins that can be carried throughout the museum and used to hear different stories at various exhibits throughout the building, giving historical insights based upon the age of the coin holder (determined at check in) and the color the selected at before heading into the museum proper. This adds an interesting and delightful twist that provides audio and sometimes video snippets of information to the viewers. For the most information, I would recommend everyone choose a different color!

This is mostly a self guided tour. It has interactive displays. Lots of information about Milton Hershey, and the Choclate making business, and lots of antiques to look at. My only problem was with the cost. It seemed over priced for a self guided tour.

As a museum in content, it is probably only a 3, but the helpful staff and little extras bump it up to a 4! We did the chocolate lab and had a really nice time. It was well run, organized, and information. All the staff from the front desk to the on floor workers were helpful. The little thing with the chips was not a big hit with our family, maybe for younger children (our children ages 11 and 13). It was a nice stop to break up our drive as we were only there about 3 hours so not all day (and that was about an hour for the lab) so 2 for the museum. Plenty of parking, very clean restrooms, nice gift shop. There is also a cafe to eat in (we did not as we ate a large breakfast before heading out) as well as a chocolate tasting bar (also skipped for time sake plus we already ate our creations from the lab). You could do the minimal in under 2 hours or do it all and spend a half day or more. Worth the stop!

Fantastic museum, that kept my kids (8 & 10) engaged for almost two hours. Very interactive and engaging with great educational activities. Try out the chocolate tasting bar too!

Nice to see all the history of Hershey. We never realized Mr. Hershey did all these wonderful things for the orphans and the townspeople.

It's well put together and they do a good job sharing about Mr Hershey. That said they tell you the same thing multiple times. I don't regret going as I was informed but to me it's just ok.

Excellent idea to get to know about the great things Mr Hershey did and have a chance to make and taste Chocolate

This was a fun museum to visit. Told the story of Hershey. Facts you would never know if you didn’t visit. Excellent displays. Gift shop provided with several gifts to bring home to friends

If you are a history buff. You'll love this museum. Tells the story of Minton Hershey and his Company.

My family of 5 just traveled here, kids age 10, 9 and 6. The museum is very very interesting, my kids were entertained by the "coin" they get to light up videos along the way. It is small enough that I didn't feel like I would lose my kids if they went ahead a little, which allowed us adults to read all the info. I suggest just buying the tasting lab package, its really not too costly and really fun. We did the Chocolate around the World class and my kids were so engaged the entire time. It comes with a little chocolate taste test as well! I suggest going when the museum opens to get tickets to the tastings, they sell out fast. One of the volunteers let us in on a little secret....after you fill your own chocolate bar, go ahead and eat the rest of the melted chocolate...with your spoon, fingers or just lick the bowl. They end up just throwing away what you don't use, so get in there and eat that chocolate! We spent about 3 hours in total here. After you are done here, take the short walk to the Chocolate Grill and have a delicious lunch, and savor your chocolate bars for dessert!

The Hershey Story just started a new technology -- a "coin" that activates many of the kiosks. You receive your "coin" at the admissions desk, and then go to the lobby kiosk to add your name and favorite color. The additional kiosks throughout the museum then personalize your experience when you use your coin to activate them. (Sorry -- you have to deposit your coin as you leave the upstairs part of the museum.)
This is the story of Hershey. Although we thought we knew the story from Chocolate World, this is more about his life, his failures (yes he had many), and his successes. Many of the things we learned were really interesting -- like the fact that he was the first to individually wrap his candy so that it was more accessible to everyone. (Plus the kisses were originally wrapped by hand !) The most interesting fact was that he was supposed to be on the Titanic but business needs caused him to switch ships. (Look for the check made out to the White Star line for his deposit on the sailing.)
Downstairs do look at the Cuba exhibit. Milton Hershey bought a sugar business on the island, and tried to make the town much like Hershey, Pennsylvania. Eventually he had to sell the business, and the town did not survive. A great timeline exhibit shows you the political climate during the time of ownership which greatly influenced the result.
I really did not expect much from this museum, but was happily surprised at what is provided. I loved the old machinery which is now preserved here, and the crystal light from his home. His philanthropy was totally amazing too !

educational and fun ....I will go again! and this was my 2nd time . Lots to learn and a little different each time

In order to appreciate either the park, or the chocolate, or even the town, you must come here and learn about Mr. Hershey. His story and that of the town are remarkable, and the museum is set up in such a way, that you never want to leave. I left with a full heart, inspired to go out and change the world. Dont miss it!!!

Reading about Milton Hershey and his accomplishments left us feeling positive as we left. The museum is very well done, and staff is helpful. I must say, though, that I miss the days when you could tour the actual factory.

The Hershey Story Museum is a fun interactive lesson that plays to the heart of American know how. The Hershey family did more to surrport the American Dream then the majority of wealthy business owners.
The history of making chocolate and supporting the common worker unfolds as the tour continues.

If you love chocolate, this place is a place to go!
Quite interesting to learn how Milton Hersheys established the company as well as his lifestyle, his care for his workers (which is how the community developed) and his philanthropic works.
Be sure to join the chocolate laboratory where, aside from learning basic fundamentals of chocolate, one gets to make your own chocolate bar - and bring it home to eat it too!
Try as well the chocolate drink tasting!

We did a meal and truffle making class two weeks ago and returned this week for a warm chocolate tasting. Food, truffles and chocolate tasting were yummy. The museum upstairs was very informative on the life of Milton Hershey.

We only stopped in for the chocolate tasting but it was well worth it. Two of us shared the larger tasting and it generated a lot of commentary about the flavors and nuances of the various chocolates from different origins. Great experience.

Visited this museum today and learned that Mr Hershey was innovative and generous. The displays are interesting and appeal to young and old.

I have been going to the Hershey area for many years especially for Hersheypark. I never seemed to have the time to experience this museum until yesterday. I enjoy the Hershey area very much and this museum was the icing on the cake! I learned so much about the beginnings of Hershey, PA as well as Milton Hershey! The chocolate tasting complimented the whole experience! The staff answered any questions we had. I highly recommend giving yourself and your family this experience!

My husband and I visited Hershey on a history-filled trip. We are not museum-type people but if something interests us we will give it a go. We didn’t know much about the history of Hershey so we decided to check it out. I must say Milton Hershey restored my faith in humanity. He was an amazing man and I’m so glad we went here. It’s not about chocolate per se it’s about a man, his dream and how he overcame all of his obstacles. The staff are incredibly helpful and there is a chocolate tasting and other activities offered. We were extremely pleased with our visit.

It's a must if you are traveling to Hershey. Anyone who likes chocolate will enjoy this museum. Special treat at the end when you go to the Cafe and get a wonderful Milkshake...awesome

There were some updates since the last time we were here. It is a nice way to learn about Hershey. Good for all ages.

Fun, interactive, and educational! Came on vacation and was able to count as school day for homeschooling thanks to how educational it was and they made it fun for learning, too! We had fun learning about the history and person of Milton Hershey! I would suggest if you have kids, do the apprenticeship program! We plan to return again!

Museum was interactive and really an eye opener for what Hershey accomplished with only a 4 th grade education. Also added on the chocolate lab experience where we made our own creations and learned all about the cocoa bean. Loved it! 😊

Loved the museum. Have been there twice. Once with my 14 year old and another time with my husband. Fun place to go and learn about the Hershey history. They also have some interactive activities. For additional charge you can do some chocolate tasting and making. Well worth it.

I did a project on Milton Hershey in grade school and ever since, have been interested in his life. The museum is full of relics from his life (crib) and business (first chocolate molds, machines) along with interesting captions along the way. We did not do the add-on packages such as the tastings. It wasn't very crowded so social distancing was easily attained. When we visited, there was an exhibit on his sugar company in Cuba. Very interesting! He was a neat man with an exemplary vision of how to take care of his workers. I loved learning more about his philanthropic endeavors and legacy.

The ride was really great and educational for the kids and adults. The gift shot is huge and lots of choices.

Well worth the visit. Explained everything about how the company was born and expanded. As a self guided tour you can take as long as you like. Many interactive displays are good and you can even produce your own wrapper.

We did the double ticket with Hershey Gardens and Hershey Story Museum. Both experiences were excellent. Knowledgeable and helpful staff members with extra tidbits of information shared!

This may be sedate compared to the rides, but it is a well done and thorough background. My friend and I enjoyed it and the Chocolate Lab. We learned quite a lot!

I went this weekend with a 9 and 12 year old. The children liked the interactive screens but lost interest rather quickly. I don't think we were at the museum more than 30 minutes. I think this museum is more for teenagers and adults. If you want to know more about chocolate and its history this place is for you.

very interesting and illuminating. I did not know the story of Mr. Hershey and what a philanthropist he was. Worthwhile to visit. You don’t need more than 2 hours to see the whole thing. Make sure you do the chocolate tasting. If you like chocolate, it is worth the money

This museum has wonderful history on how the Hershey chocolate factory came to be and the life of Mr. Hershey. There is definitely a lot of information and exhibits. We did find that the videos and the reading material on the wall/exhibits is repetitive/redundant if you do both. And I also found the open area with lots of different information panels overwhelming and difficult to navigate. That being said, we did enjoy it. Make sure to start your visit with a chocolate tasting!

This is a very interesting story of Hershey's founder. I'm sure they only told the good and spun the story a bit for their purposes, but it is a great place. The story is inspirational - he modernized chocolate industry, brought chocolate to the masses, and donated his fortune to help educate kids who wouldn't get a good education otherwise. Definitely take time to go see this place.

We have been here 3 times in the last month and they never fail. I specifically like their candy lab. One only complaint is that they close the cafe pretty early compared to their closing time. The food is good though! It’s a wonderful experience full of fun facts and details!

This tour was included with our stay at the Hershey Lodge but was worth it. It took about 45 minutes and was a nice, self-guided tour with some interactive exhibits.
We enjoyed reading the history and learned a lot about Mr. Hershey Bd Hershey, PA.

This was a nice surprise of an attraction and we got free tickets to go here through our hotel package with the Hershey Hotel. Shows the evolution of the Hershey company. Will definitely come back in the future to see it again. Expect to spend up to 2 hrs if you're looking and reading everything.

After the friendly girl from England gave us a discount, we paid $22 to get into the museum. We were able to view glass cases of old items owned by Mr. Hershey and endless stories glorifying his life as a SAINT. No exhibits of how to make cocoa into chocolate or how the factories and supply chains work. THEN - - - we end our visit in the tasting room hoping to taste some varieties of chocolate only to find out that it will cost us another $10. TOTAL RIPOFF ! ! Randy

Plan at least 3 - 4 hours. There is so much to learn at this museum. Milton Hershey was a fabulous man who gave (and even though he is long gone, through his foundation is still giving) back to his community. The testimonies of the people who have benefited from the generosity of the Hershey family and the foundation was touching. Use the tokens to learn 4 facts at each station. Tip: If your group gets more than 1 token, you will receive different facts at the stations, so use all the tokens at each station.
This museum is more about the history of what created the Hershey dynasty.
Our group of all adults (ages 19 and up) loved it but we are all history buffs.
The museum is so well interpreted.
I can't recommend enough adding on the two programs to your ticket. We did the drinking chocolate taste test. We did the 6 sample flight of drinking chocolate from around the world. Tip: 2 people can easily split a flight.
We also added on the chocolate making which was fun.
Gift shop could be a little better.
The bathrooms were clean.
I am a bit appalled at a previous reviewer that stated that because the Hershey foundation had so much money, tickets to this museum should be free. 1) Obviously this reviewer has no concept of how much it costs to run a museum. 2) Seriously the foundation is helping people in need but you feel the money should be spent on your tickets should be free?

We stayed at Hershey Lodge and got free tickets with issued upon check-in. I honestly would not have gone if we didn't have the free tickets. The museum is VERY beautiful, clean and interesting, if not the best activity for kids. Staff was friendly and helpful. Upon entering, you will get a coin to activate the interactive displays. Much more fun was the scavenger hunt that was provided to my daughter. She loved it, but it takes about 10-15 minutes. I enjoyed seeing some of Hershey's personal items. There is a nice cafe that was serving chocolate covered bacon! We did not eat there, but you gotta love a museum that smells like bacon and chocolate!

Visited here for the second time although it was with visiting family. This museum takes you on a trip through the history of not only Milton Hershey, but also Hershey,PA. It's amazing to learn all the ups and downs that Mr. Hershey had and yet he became one of the most influential people in our world today.
The Chocolate Lab is also pretty cool especially for the kids, it's not only fun but educational.

Beautiful for the holidays. Visiting family really enjoyed themselves. The Milton Hershey story itself is a great story and this wonderful place is spellbinding. The staff is wonderful and really knowledgeable. Helpful with some ideas for the visiting family that we did not think of.

Before our visit to The Hershey Story, we really didn’t know anything about Milton Hershey or the history of the town and park. We left with a new understanding and respect for the man behind the chocolate, his wonderful philosophy toward life, work, and the many ways he helped others throughout his life. We expected to be in and out in less than an hour but ended up spending at least an hour and a half. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the exhibits were interesting, interactive, and very well presented. Nice gift shop, too!

Full disclosure - we did not have time to go in the museum. But we did have time to do a chocolate tasting! Great - you get samples of liquid chocolate from around the world - and you can really taste the difference. We were there on a Thursday afternoon in November during "Covid" and there were no lines anywhere. We bought some things (chocolate ornaments) for our grandkids too.

It’s a fairly small museum, but still comprehensive, interactive and overall well done. It was a more interesting history than I expected. Worth a quick stop while in town.

The main museum exhibit is relatively small, but very informative. We enjoyed it for about an hour and a half. Maybe not the most engaging for small children, but older kids and teens might like the visit. Close to some great restaurants. Our tickets were complimentary with our stay at The Hotel Hershey.

Went in winter, and on one of the cold days, we did the Chocolate factory tour, riding the cars while the singing cows relate the story of chocolate. It does let out in the huge chocolate gift shop, but items were interesting and always something on sale.

What an amazing man was Mr Hershey and this museum tells his story very well. We spent several hours here learning the history of the man and his influence. Not only did he overcome obstacles to become a success, but he treated people well and left a legacy of influence that continues to this day. This museum was very informative and inspiring. We also did the full tasting which was fun. My husband and I shared the experience which was the perfect size. Though delicious, you wouldn’t want to have six drinks to try on your own as they were very rich and filling.

I never knew that Hershey had built such an empire here in PA. This museum does a great job of telling how i happened, in both the company and the town. Very interesting.

My husband and I visited this museum before going to Hershey World and I’m glad we did. We learn so much about the history of Milton Hershey and his generosity in the town of Hershey. There were interactive exhibits as well as things to read. We went to a 45 minute chocolate lab where we created our very own chocolate bar-complete with personal topping! Fun indeed!

A must see museum. Milton Hershey was an amazing man. The museum was well laid out with lots of exhibits.

A chocolate loving friend came to visit us last month and we decided to take her down to Hershey. We were so disappointed by the new hands on exhibit they added downstairs. The previous one was perfect for the kids and showing the chocolate process. This new one lost their interest in a matter of minutes.

Went to all the top Hershey Spots: World, Park, Garden and Story. For our group with young children this was definitely a stop we could have skipped. Most of the info they could retain was repeated within the chocolate world factory tour and or the Hershey park monorail ride. For adults interested in more in-depth story of Hershey then I would recommend. I personally learned a lot but hard to really enjoy with little ones restless. We did do one of the world of chocolate tasting downstairs for a nominal fee extra and my 4y who loves chocolate did enjoy that. But you can do that without entering the museum if you desire.

It was mostly about the inventor of Hershey candy and his life. Not something a kid would enjoy. Slow. I just suggest saving the money for Hershey Park

I wouldn't have known this place existed if l hadn't found discount tickets on Groupon. We had so much fun. There were quite a few interactive stations for kids to learn about the history and process of making chocolate. We loved making our own chocolate creations to take home in the chocolate lab, attending chocolate class, and tasting the liquid chocolates from around the world. We spent too much money in the gift shop, but came home with some cool stuff! Will visit again if in the area.

Really enjoyed the tour and hope that anyone that love Hershey Chocolate as much as I do will love this story telling.

This was interesting. A lot of information about Hershey. The chocolate making experience was a better value than anything in Chocolate world.

I generally enjoy museums. This one was pretty boring. It consisted mainly of large signs on the wall with information. The only part we really enjoyed is the tastings. It was unclear by its location whether you could just do the tasting without paying admission to the museum. For us, it was an extra $10 -- and THAT was worth it. Fun sipping liquid chocolate made from cacao beans from Ghana, Java, and other areas of the world. The gift shop is missing a good deal by not making chocolate available from some of those countries for people to take home. Hershey's chocolate we can buy at the grocery store at home!

This museum has a variety of information and displays. It takes maybe an hour to go through. Free parking is right behind the building. Our favorite part was doing the chocolate flight tasting. We shared a full flight between 3 people. Definitely dont miss it.

Excellent presentation of Hershey's progress through trial and error and changing economic times. Plan to spend a couple of hours. exhibits include interactive display that kids would like.

For the first time in just about 13 years, I went back to Hershey. We were looking for a day's outing and since it's not quite that time of year yet for the park, we settled on visiting some of the sites around the town.
I last visited the museum when it was in the old building, and I know it was moving.
Location - Directly behind the park (literally behind Great Bear, Sooperdooperlooper, and the old log flume ride) on Chocolate Avenue.
Parking - free behind the building in a small garage.
Pandemic Protocols - Masks, hand sanitizers, 6-feet social distancing mats leading to check-in desk. Otherwise, no one followed social distancing, interactive exhibits worked, and people were given chips to wave in front of certain videos. I did not witness any cleaning being done while there.
The staff was very friendly and helpful in answering questions.
This museum I believe is planned a bit better than the old museum although it felt smaller to me (but that could be a kid's memory vs. having an adult perspective now). It is interesting. They had a quick interactive exhibit about Kitty Hershey (Hershey's wife); after seeing that and learning one little snippet on her life, I wish they would devote a bit more to her.
With that being said, I'm giving it an average review because it is missing things and/or it could emphasize on more things. Some things that Hershey did - such as building his school - is glossed over. Other things in the town - such as the medical center - is glossed over. One case and done. Because of this, we really didn't spend a whole lot of time in the museum.
However, I was very disappointed in one thing. The Apostolic Clock is in storage! That was the whole reason why my family and I kept going back to the museum many moons ago! And I was looking forward to seeing it today to only find out that it has been in storage, allegedly due to the person who had been its curator has either since retired or died. And the museum couldn't find someone else so to keep this beauty going? That clock alone is worth the admission, but alas, it is in storage. I really hope this museum reconsiders it; the clock will surely need a lot more upkeep bringing it out of storage than it would have had it been kept out on the museum floor in working order.
I was also looking forward to seeing the shop. I remember the shop used to carry books about Hershey and other surrounding PA historical writings. Not anymore. It was just the usual Hershey books on a couple of shelves while the rest of the store was all the usual souvenirs you would find in Chocolate World.
I still recommend going because museums keep history alive. I would just say this is for older kids and adults.
Note: I did not visit the chocolate lab or tasting. I wasn't interested. They cost extra.

The museum is very cute. It had a decent amount to look at and the gift shop and coffee shop were nice too. If you stay at the villas you get free admission to the museum.

We very much enjoyed visiting this museum. To learn more about Milton Hershey and his wife and their life was very inheriting. You can spend as much or as little time as you want here. Nice little gift shio.

Received free tickets from our stay at Hotel Hershey. This is a very informative museum and was very interesting! Must see if you're in the area.

Well-done museum. Hard to believe one man accomplished so much. The Cuba room interested me the most since I knew NOTHING about this part of Hershey's business dealings. Located right down town -- pretty little area, good restaurants. Attractive town all around. Nice little one-day jaunt.

Who knew one man known for making chocolate is actually so much more than he appears. As great as the Hershey Bar is, it pales in light of his other accomplishments. We were kind of in debates about the trolly tour here, but not anymore. I would highly recommend it hands down to anyone who visits here. Mr Hershey was an amazing man and the things he and his wife did to change the lives of others is inspiring.

My husband and I came to Hershey many years ago and participated in a tour. We thought this was the same tour but quickly realized that it was not the same tour. My husband and I enjoyed the museum. However, our children were not as impressed. there was a lot of reading and less interactive things than expected. They were quickly bored and ready to leave.

We enjoyed our visit which lasted about two hours. You learn about more than just the history of Hershey chocolate, but what the family has done for the community. We paid the extra to do the Chocolate Lab where you make your own piece of chocolate.

You can't come to Hershey without learning about its founding father! The Hershey story is fascinating and the self-guided tour provided tons of interesting facts and tidbits about Milton Hershey and his family. I guess you could say he was the Steve Jobs of his time!

We had a great time at the museum. A lot of reading but also a lot to look at! Loved the lab where we got to make a treat and of course the chocolate tasting…worth the visit for sure!

If you really want to be inspired and reminded about what a truly good human can achieve and accomplish, this is the place to go! Milton Hershey was not only an amazing entrepreneur, but a faithful steward of his business and his community. A great friend and unmatched philanthropist, he should be the model for all who aspire to leadership. Wonderful photos, stories, and artifacts guide you through his struggles, triumphs, and legacy.

Fun visit. A definite must. Really cool place with great atmosphere. The tour was excellent and worth the time and money. Friendly staff.

This museum was very interactive, with chips to scan in various rooms to learn more about the history, and some activities to do as well. They have a wide variety of artifacts to look at with an overall story that continues as you go. They also have some stops along the way with seating for short videos, so this museum would be doable if you needed places to rest as you go. Additionally, they have a place to rest a flight of warmed chocolate with beans from around the world that was a lot of fun.

Very interesting vairety of displays and interactive presentations, and short films. Fun "chocolate school" where you can make your own custom Hershey's candy bar (extra charge but worth it for kids). Extremely passionate, sweet staff who clearly love working there. Great place to save for rainy day.

Good place to see the history and making of Hershey's . A great man with great ideas! LOVED it! It was worth the trip.

This was the first myself and my wife has been to the Hershey Story museum. It was a great experience. The information we learned about Hershey and Cuba was interesting and made us love Hershey and the product even more. it doesn't seem like a big museum until you start walking around and seeing the artifacts and the displays. They have a rotation display down stairs that changes and was great! Then we did the Chocolate Lab where we created a chocolate bar. These labs change daily and by the hour depending on what you want to create. The lady teaching the class was very friendly and knew a lot of information. The chocolate was a plus. The only down side was that we hoped the bar was a little bigger or they had more than 1 kind of decoration to add to it. The shop there was great as well. They sell different items than at Chocolate World, better Christmas ornaments, FYI! The only really sell, peanut butter cup, Hershey Chocolate bar and Kisses things. If you're looking for other items, head to Chocolate World!
The bathrooms are very clean and open! FYI. We stopped in a few times to use a clean bathroom on our walk on the ave there. Highly suggest this. Definitely will be back to experience the pantry and the chocolate bar for samplings!

My adult niece and I visited Hershey, PA in June and we would recommend starting your time in Hershey with this museum. Nicely laid out and tells the story of Milton Hershey and his legacy. Make sure to pay the extra money to do the chocolate tasting! What fun that was (and delicious). We also took advantage of making our own chocolate bar. Well worth the price of the ticket!

This museum is a must do if you are in the area. The pricing is very reasonable. The Chocolate Lab was fun and it was interesting to learn about how chocolate is processed. The museum is great. You can learn so much about Hershey, the man and the place, very community driven.
The tasting was excellent. We purchased the full flight. It was fun to taste all the different chocolate and see which we liked best. The parking is free. The gift shop was nothing special. There was nothing we couldn’t get someplace else for less money.

We had no clue this museum would take us as long as it did. Of course, we read almost every word. It was so informative! Interactive displays were great. Saw kids really enjoying as well.

Very interesting self guided tour learning both the history of an unusual but outstanding person Milton Hershey and the town of Hershey!

We enjoyed the museum as it revealed the Hershey history, and liked the digital interactive nature of the self-guided tour with the unique, personalized chip/token. As we arrived for our tour, we noticed many folks disappointed that the chocolate “labs” to make candy treats were all sold out, I would recommend if doing this very “kid-friendly” activity is of interest to you, that you purchase your tickets online ahead of your visit to ensure you both save money (the combo ticket is discounted) and you can maximize your visit by better timing your day around your reserved lab time, The warm global chocolates tasting is fun for all ages and did not require a reservation—only an additional fee, Free parking garage is located directly behind The Chocolate Story and is accessible ONLY via N Linden Rd @ First St. (Tip: there is NO access to this parking garage from Park Ave (PA743)).

Layout gives a good education on Mr. Hershey and his many wonderful ideas. Enjoy it every time we visit.

We so enjoyed the exhibits and the history about Hershey Chocolate and Milton Hershey. This museum is really well done with knowledgeable docents and many hands on activities.

We learned alot about Milton Hershey on the Trolley Tour....this museum brought it to life with the displays and photos.

Milton Hershey was more than a Chocolate Maker !! With a 4th grade education he accomplished so much in his lifetime. Helped so many as well. From helping his employees own homes, starting & opening many other businesses they would need in their new town. The Orphanage was built & upon his death his money went to them to continue to keep it open. Back in those days PA had laws & many children were taken from their moms after the father was killed or died. Women were not allowed to keep their children. Milton Hershey opened a hospital and started athletics & built schools, encouraged many in his new town to start businesses. He took an orphan who showed interest in the business and trained him in chocolate making & the business. Later that man became CEO after Milton’s death. Milton & his wife had no children. Just so much Information.. take the time to read it. We enjoyed our visit !!

This is a really neat museum about the chocolate king! Free parking garage a block away from the entrance. Minimal fee but well worth it. The museum goes bigger than just Mr. Hershey, to talk about the period in which he lived, the community, and much more. So many artifacts. A must do.

We had complimentary tickets from the lodge. There isn’t a lot to hold kids’ interests so we went though the museum in about 20 minutes. We did the chocolate lab as well which was fun but was basically pouring chocolate in a mold and then learning about chocolate while it cooled. Considering you can build your own bar at Chocolate World, this won’t seem as exciting.
If you have free tickets, it’s worth a visit once but I don’t think I’d pay to go here.

Before rushing into the frenzy of Hersheypark, our three-generation family stopped by the Hershey Story. The adults enjoyed learning about the history of Mr. Hershey's entrepreneurial spirit, work with Mr. Reese, and wide philanthropic endeavors.
And the 4 and 6 year olds? They had a GREAT time with the 'I Spy' Scavenger Hunt, allowing them to peruse the displays and artifacts in search of the items on their list. It was this way they learned how the 'milking stool' is important for chocolate production, understood parts of the machinery, and how uniforms from Mr. Milton's schools looked like.
We did not partake in the chocolate lab, but it was a very enjoyable experience to learn about Derry/Hershey and the Hershey legacy.

While chocolates are much sought after sweets across the world, not much is known about the way it is manufactured. Still more interesting is the history of someone setting up such a factory. The criteria for selection of a location onward there are various pieces of a 'jigsaw puzzle' of decision making process explained pretty well here. A great place to visit from multiple perspectives.

This was our second time visiting the museum, and they’ve added an interactive element in the way of the digital coin that kids and adults alike find engaging. This is an excellent way to get a sense of Hershey’s inextricable relationship to the town and community, with a variety of cultural, business, and other topics to explore. There’s also a gift shop, small restaurant, and Chocolate Lab.

Great muleseum that talks about the history of Milton Hershey. His fatjwrs failures as well as his own and the ability to keep trying. It is not just about his story, bur how he developed the town and encouraged home ownership. Then getting g a Med School built as well as his opening of the trade school in town that has evolved into an outstanding boarding school for under privileged kids.

We were excited to visit Hershey, PA. Especially after staying nearby in Elizabethtown and smelling chocolate from the nearby Dove factory. Yum! After arriving Hershey, we decided to go to the place that would surely have the most to offer -- the Hershey Story. I don't mind paying for a worthwhile museum. This was redundant and small. The admission price is expensive for what you get. Same theme throughout, penniless, self made, keep trying and gave back to community. No factory tour not even a window to watch the process. You can make
your own chocolate bar... pay more money. The gift store is over priced. The same chocolate they have for sale can be purchased for a fraction of the cost elsewhere. My grandkids won't care that it didn't actually come from here. No chocolate tasting, no chocolate smell, not even a Kiss. Disappointed and disillusioned.

nice for a few hours to learn the history of Milton Hershey and what he has done for children and the area

We had a wonderful time at Hershey...visiting for the third time across our nigh 50 years! The whole area just has to be ‘one of America’s best vacation spots!’ They care for the handicap folks too! And my wife is such which meant a lot to me! I wish it were closer by, but it’s not—least where we live. Don’t know when we can get back there, but it will be a place we’ll want to go back to for sure!

We visited the museum and really enjoyed learning about Milton Hershey and his love for his birthplace and all that he did to literally build Hershey PA from the ground up. The museum did a good job telling his story good time and bad. Be sure to do the tasting!

We took our son and his service dog into the museum. Such a cool look at the life and work of Milton Hershey. The museum has interactive screens to hear about Hershey and some of the folks who grew up here. They just opened a Hershey Cuba exhibit that was really cool and showed how sugar cane becomes sugar. Very cool for people who want to know the history of Hershey, the town, and his incredible philanthropic efforts.

I love history. I received a complimentary ticket from the Hotel Hershey when I checked in. There are kiosks where you hear history and then see actual items that belonged to Milton and his wife Kitty. There are several places where you sit and watch short videos that show how the chocolate is made as well as Milton's legacy. I found it to be very interesting. On the first floor is an exhibit that tells about his time in Cuba to get his supply of sugar. I enjoyed learning about the man and his life.

Overpriced for a pretty bare bones exhibition space. Every board and room were in the same color scheme and the descriptions and stories really were the bare minimum they could have stated about the namesake. I didn't learn anything that I couldn't have gotten off a wikipedia article. You can pay extra to have a chocolate flight and a chocolate lab experience, but it was already too much for too little.

This museum is lots of fun with lots of good information on Mr. Hershey. All the employees were friendly and helpful. I didn't eat there, but the cafe looked good.

This was an unexpected treasure. We arrived in Hershey early so decided to visit. It was fantastic. We loved learning the history and it was presented in such a fun way. We learned so much about chocolate in the lab and made delicious candy bars as well.

My 7yr and 13yr old boys and husband & I loved the museum! Very interesting for all of us. We received tickets for free with our stay at Hershey Lodge. I would have been ok having paid full price though- it was that informational and engaging- even for the 7-year-old! Definitely ask for the scavenger hunt paper if they don't give it to you for the kids. The volunteers were helpful and engaging. The artifacts were engaging. If you are a child of the 70's or 80's, go see the special exhibition on the 1st floor- it features a lot of the advertising from our childhood! We paid for 1 full flight of the chocolate sipping chocolates for our family of 4 to share and that was a blast! It's self-paced and I read each description while we each took a sip tasting the chocolate. Even the ones that were too dark or bitter for the kids were fun to try! We spent almost 3 hours there. It was very enjoyable.

Very informative about Hershey's entrepreneurship and his plan for the Hershey community. They also have a special exhibit about Hershey's enterprise in Cuba, where he also developed a local community around the business. I learned quite a bit and I imagine children would enjoy the museum as well.
Tips: Go early (before 11am) before the crowds with children arrive. There is free parking by the museum. There is a cafe adjacent to the museum, with a small but reasonable assortment of food and drink (my veggie quiche was pretty decent). Don't expect big discounts or assortment at the gift shop - I was hoping for more dark chocolate options and did not see much.

The museum was great. It was set up nicely and very informative. Milton Hershey was a wonderful man and not just because of chocolate.
The museum is a definite must see in Hershey.

I am not usually a huge fan of museums, but I am glad my husband and I stopped here. The museum has a lot of cool, old Hershey antiques to look at and talks a lot about Hershey himself. After visiting the museum I have a new respect for him, he was a millionaire who did a lot of good.
We spent about 1.5 hours here, which is about my Max for a museum. If you're in the area, I would recommend playing this place a visit!

My husband and I went to Hershey Gardens and purchased the combo ticket for the garden and admission to The Hershey Story. We enjoyed the self-guided tour greatly! It was informative and interactive to learn about Mr. Hershey’s legacy in business and community. It was also a reprieve from a humid afternoon to spend time wandering around an air conditioned and comfortable exhibit. I could honestly go back again because there was so much to see and read, I feel like I probably missed a lot. Highly recommend for individuals who love museums.

Maybe it was just me expecting so much more it was interesting and you learn how the company came to be and some about how they made the chocolate I just kind of thought there would be more pictures of the chocolate production from then to now.

My kids (8 and 11) and I had just finished reading Who Was Milton Hershey? so they loved seeing artifacts from Hershey's life. It's a small museum, so we saw everything in about 45 minutes, but it was all very interesting. We also did the Chocolate Lab, which the kids loved. Check the times before you go because I think it's only offered two or three times a day. Donna in the lab was so sweet and helpful :) We went in October, so we made a chocolate spider web with a dark chocolate spider on it. I thought it was worth the extra expense to do something hands-on and chocolate-related while in Hershey.

This was such a neat museum, it’s so interesting and lots of great exhibits about Milton Hershey. We enjoyed it very much, the staff members were very knowledgeable and friendly and it was so clean and such a pretty building. Highly recommend!

My husband and I spent about an hour and a half here. We enjoyed the chocolate tasting and just a general history of how everything got started. Was very impressed with Mr. Hershey.

A must visit that follows the Milton Hershey journey. We especially enjoyed the interactive element of the museum.

We got free tickets to this museum with our lodge stay and it was great!! We learned a lot about Milton Hershey’s life right away and we were pretty impressed. The kids loved the many interactive exhibits, especially building their own Hershey kiss conveyor belt which they did not give up on until they did it. It was quiet when we went so luckily they had the time. We all enjoyed seeing the chocolate being smoothed out in the conch (I THINK it was called) machine after the movie. I wish it ran a little longer! The Eye Spy was also a great touch for the kids and kept their attention throughout the museum.
I do wish the passport machine in the beginning that we spent so much time on perfecting photos still printed out passports like they used to. It would have been a nice souvenir.
We didn’t do the extras since we were doing them at Chocolate World and one of our kids was under the recommended age for that at the museum, but it was a relaxing & enjoyable experience with a lot of information learned.

Complimentary tickets to this attraction were included in the spa vacation package we'd booked at The Hotel Hershey, so we decided to check it out. The two exhibits (one devoted to the story of Milton Hershey and the growth of his company, the other devoted to the history of Hershey's former holdings in Cuba) were both interesting and interactive. I enjoyed looking at the old chocolate tins and chocolate bar wrappers, as well as some of Mr. Hershey's former possessions, including his passport and a somewhat gaudy and monstrous Baccarat torchiere he purchased for a whopping $5,000. There were videos, design-your-own chocolate wrapper stations, and what have you. We snickered just a little at the fact that only one tiny display, in a corner, discussed the fact that there were wrenching labor strikes at the Hershey factory and racial tensions among the workers. I guess that is no surprise! On the whole, it was a cute museum and worth the time we took to explore it.

Lots of good information here! You could spend a long time going through all of the stuff in this museum. Definitely gives you a new perspective on the name Hershey.

I learned a lot about Hershey and his legacy, and chocolate and the chocolate making process. We got to make our own chocolate bars and taste chocolates from other countries. The food in the Cafe was delicious.

Failure
Lost
And Success
The thought of building for the future and providing a road map for future.
Putting children first and providing a trust so that children not yet born could gain an education is amazing.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Hershey Story. Our 9-year old loved the interactive token that unlocked “just enough” of Mr. Hershey’s history, but we also watched a few of the additional movies. Very well-done exhibits. Mr. Hershey was a great philanthropist and should be remembered for his contributions. His chocolate is a plus! :-)

Great museum with lots of information. Very impressed with Mr Hershey’s legacy. So many young people have benefitted from his generosity and forward thinking. We learned lots on the trolley ride but even more with the displays in the Museum.

This was such a cool place to visit and we really enjoyed ourselves here. It was neat to learn about how Milton Hershey came to be one of the greatest entrepreneurs who ever lived, as well as to take part in the many interactive exhibits. A must for families, too.

whats not to love about chocolate ?! So many fun items to buy and you can make your own candy bar !!

The Milton Hershey story and vision for Hershey, PA. See the story of how Milton moved from making caramel to chocolate. See the way they wrapped hershey kisses.
Milton Hershey established the school for underprivileged children and donated his fortune to the school and children since he had no children of his own. They have a scavenger hunt for children and many interactive displays

I used a for Groupon tasting, and admission. (it was totally worth the price.) The drinking chocolate was very interesting. Some of them I really liked, and some were just flat-out disgusting. (everyone has their own tastes so I can't knock them for that) I do not recommend the drinking chocolate tasting for children. Mine a hard time with the ones with large percentages of cacao. The museum was also great. The staff gave my kids a scavenger hunt to find different objects in the museum. They came and checked on us periodically; and helped the kids with objects that were harder to find/ It really kept them engaged.

Very nice stop with tons of info on Hershey and his legacy!
Quite a few facts unknown to my wife and I so we were glad we stopped

It is a nice museum, with a lot information you about the history of Hershey. We also made our own chocolate bar, as we were the only couple there we got a great history of chocolate not to mention extra chocolate!

To be honest this was the bottom on my list of things to do while in Hershey. I am so very glad we did! It was great! All staff members were polite and made us feel welcome and were very knowledgeable. Evan in the Chocolate Lab made the experience great. The museum was very interesting and interactive. I learned many things about Milton Hershey.

The museum was filled with interesting exhibits, well prepared and interactive at a number of places. We did the chocolate lab (super easy, fun and yummy) for a few extra dollars. The hidden gem of the museum is the Cafe. The food is incredible including wagyu beef burgers, truffle fries and the best chocolate bombs ever. I wish we had room for the chocolate pizza. Great prices and the staff was amazing. Go early for breakfast or stay late for lunch. Both are served all day. You will not be disappointed!! We were there from about 10am to 130pm with lunch and chocolate lab. Great way to spend the morning.
Return visit after many years
Our granddaughter who was raised with her father being a museum curator or a director of several museums across the U.S. She is a history major in her 3rd year at SU. We all thought that the displays were well laid out with simple and easy to read information. The staff was friendly and informative. The only problem was the school kids. over all well behaved, however they need to be reminded that they are inside and not run or shout. It was difficult to hear the movies with kids yelling. They need to offer discounts to college students with ID None of groups to we fit in (2 seniors and a 20 year old college student
