Fantastic museum for those interested in Johnny Cash

By PretoriaRobbo |

This is a very well-designed, most interesting museum which encapsulates his persona perfectly. His entire life is well documented, and we all came out of the museum with a far better understanding of a very remarkable entertainer. Well worth a visit!

If you love Johnny, then go!

By rleNewEngland |

Overall, tour through the museum was interesting. I found the admission price to be steep, compared to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

A great surprise!

By Nancy H |

Smaller museum devoted to the life and music of Johnny Cash, the Man in Black! Several videos showing his movies and TV appearances as well as great displays of his records, family life and other achievements. My husband loved it and he’s not a country music fan! It was a surprise to find and is very well done!

Tourist Trap, Not deserving of Johnny's Name

By Fly |

There were a few nice displays but bad lighting and too many people to enjoy anything. The museum is small, admission is crazy for what this is, and the prices in the gift shop are even worse - it's $3 for a postcard. I don't know how anyone can afford to go. As other reviewers said, can't get a good photo of anything. We had a discount through work and I still feel like I need a refund.

Sooo crowded

By Miranda |

This little museum is so cool! I am a fan of Johnny Cash and was excited to see some of his things. But there were so many people and it was so difficult to see anything. It almost felt like you couldn't get out. When you did get to see the items they were very cool.

Johnny Cash

By Angela L |

Very well organized and comprehensive museum for fans of Johnny cash as well as any music fan. Plenty of entertaining footage to watch along with so much memorabilia.

Not worth the visit

By CyndiMom |

This was very disappointing. It’s dark inside and cramped. The exhibits are only so-so. This would be only for the diehard Johnny fans. Part of my problem was that I saw this after spending time at the Country Music Hall of Fame museum which is OUTstanding. This is a real comedown from that. So - visit if you have an attachment to Johnny Cash, or if you have time to kill.

Excellent few hours wondering around

By Carole H |

Great museum loved it. Gift shop on site. Staff friendly. Definitely recommend it. There was a video of JC singing Hurt which was sad as he did this after his second wife died

For Johnny Cash fans.

By oklambsrus |

Our family was divided on rating this museum. Two of the five really liked it. Three thought it wasn’t worth the cost of admission. It was crowded. If you are a big fan of Johnny Cash then go.

Great Museum

By Jeremy R |

Very well curated and interesting. Johnny Cash was an American icon and this museum is very fitting. Lots of artifacts and photos. Well worth a visit. It will take about an hour or so.

Worth Spending a Fee Hours learning about a legend.

By MEDonner |

A must see when in Nashville. Spend a few hours walking back in time. The history of Johnny Cash’s music is of interest to anyone that grew up in 50s, 60s and 70s. Whether you like country or not, Johnny Cash’s music has been a part of the American music catalogue. The museum is well laid out and provides a quiet cool place away from the excitement on Broadway.

Come visit the Man in Black

By Chris M |

If you are a Johnny Cash fan or if you want to learn about a really cool guy, this museum is a must see when you visit Nashville. The detailed information about his life will leave you knowing what an amazing person he was. His prolific work in show business and the contributions he made to the music world and society was incredible. Totally worth a visit.

Museum Tour

By Wandering_Freee |

It was pretty cool museum. They did have a lot of Johnny's different things from bibles, artwork, clothes, furniture, instruments etc. This museum isn't huge you probably can do it in an hr or so. They also have a photographer if you want a picture with Johnny Cash. They do have a ton of merch.

Not Worthy of the Man in Black

By GLENN S |

Not worthy of the Man in Black. I got the feeling the museum has not been there all that long. The staff restricts the number of people allowed in the museum at one time, and for a good reason. Very cramped. A good collection of memorabilia. The staff was personable and eager to engage visitors. For some reason, there was scant attention paid to the Johnny Cash: American albums from the later years, some of his best work. It is well worth a visit, but I felt let down a bit. With a couple of tweaks and a bigger space, this could be one of the best attractions in Nashville.

What a man!

By SBtraveler8 |

I didn’t grow up listening to Johnny Cash but I enjoy his music more and more as time goes by. This museum does a great job of covering his wide array of experiences and talents. Can’t believe he died at 71 — he did and lived so much!

Lots of places to watch videos and listen to music. If you’re claustrophobic, be aware that it’s a fairly tight space.

Really enjoyed it

Great stop in Nashville

By Amber M |

Great collection of Johnny Cash outfits, records, photos and memorabilia. Interactive and informative. We really enjoyed this.

Don't pass this by

By Sue Albany |

This is my second time here. I recommended this to others it was so good. Great gift shop. Good bathrooms. THey did a great job putting this together. His history. His family. All sorts of artifacts, birth certificates, school and military service things. Little rooms where you can see the play bill posters of movies he was in and videos of the TV shows, movies, concerts. A great video about the tattered American flag. Informative staff. Clean. I didn't know much about him when I first went there but now I am a real fan. They did a great job putting this together. We also ate, this time around, at the bar next door. Good food. Great staff. Very loud music when there's a band, and there usually is. All bar food, but okay for a dinner after a long day.

Informative and moving

By KilburnTowers |

Really well laid out, with great artefacts. Small museum that allows you to immerse yourself in Johnny Cash's story for a couple of hours. I wouldn't claim to be a huge Johnny Cash (or even country music) fan but I got a lot out of this.

Amazing

By l g |

This place is a must for anyone visiting Nashville. Full of amazing memerabila and videos. You can listen to all of Johnny's songs covered by hundreds of other artists. You would be amazed how many ty there are. An amazing attraction to learn about the extraordinary life of such a talented man and his family.

Fantastic

By Pagean H |

This place is everything you want and more. Follow their facebook page because sometimes they have special visitors you might like to meet

Very Worthwhile

By Yobird |

A lot of fun . Good footage and videos for fans and music lovers .
We enjoyed our time even though it was pretty crowded in October .

Ring of Fire fun

By Nick P |

This is enjoyable, even for a moderate Johnny Cash fan. We used it to slow down the drinking for a couple of hours. He was in a lot more acting roles than I expected. One of the more interesting things you learn. Definitely see it

Small but fun

By pjinazPhoenix |

Small museum, but very good. Nice timeline of Johnny's life and career. Tons of memorabilia, film footage, stations to listen to his music and more.

Petty Entry Policy.

By Murray S |

On our trip to the USA we visited; The Tina Turner Birthplace Museum, Graceland, Sun Studios, STAX Museum of American Soul, The National Civil Rights Museum, The Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, The Lower Mississippi River Museum in Vicksburg, The Longwood Antebellum House, The New Orleans Jazz Museum, The Rosa Parks Museum, The World of Coca-Cola, The Country Music Hall of Fame, The Grand Ole Opry Tour and the Ryman Auditorium tour amongst other smaller museums and attractions.

I list these only to make the point that of everywhere we visited The Johnny Cash museum was the only place that made us pour out the water from our refillable bottles before we were allowed to enter. This is despite the fact that it was 95f outside and we had to walk to our next destination afterwards.

The only reasoning given was “It’s a museum”. I refer you to the list above of other museums that had no issue at all allowing us to carry our water round. Many, including the Country Music Hall of Fame round the corner from the Johnny Cash Museum, had water fill stations throughout.

This nasty pettiness left a sour taste in my mouth and was the only real time in our tour when I didn’t feel the southern hospitality that the area is so famed for.

The museum itself was fine, some interesting Cash artefacts (all behind glass so no spillage risk…) although it was very crowded.

Nostalgic Experience

By Joan L |

Although this seems small for a museum, it contains a wealth of exhibits. Johnny Cash's life is detailed, and many of his outfits are on display. It is easy to see why he was so popular as he had produced so many gold and platinum records. There are videos to watch and interactive areas where you can select and listen to tracks by Johnny Cash, Elvis, and Roy Orbison. Each era of his career is covered from the 1950s to the 2000s. You find out facts about Johnny Cash that you may not know. A very enjoyable, nostalgic experience.

Amazing place

By Brendan C |

Amazing place to visit lots of history to take in. We’ll set out and lots to see and listen to. There is a small gift shop and the staff are very helpful

For Johnny Cash Fans

By Robin C |

If you like Johnny Cash, you'll enjoy this museum. Smaller in scale, you need about an hour to tour it.

Perfect tour

By BO S |

Very informative, in the hear of Downtown and didn't take long to walk through. Nicely done small museum.

Johnny Cash Museum

By John L |

The museum has a good collection of Johnny Cash memorabilia that walks the visitor through his life and career. This exhibit is something a Johnny Cash should visit.

Audio tour please.

By QL13 |

This is a very interesting place, full of amazing information. I loved the video walls.only thing that would have made it better. As a dyslexic, I would have enjoyed a form of audio tour .

A great tribute to the man in black

By Polly D |

Really interesting museum, with a very moving final exhibit. It has a great selection of things to read, watch and listen to and very friendly staff

A wonderful collection and story of Johnny Cash

By Jan P |

I liked this museum very much. Lots to see and learn about, but did not occupy your entire day. There are a few small theatres to sit in and watch videos of Johnny cash and there are many recordings you can put on headsets to listen to his songs. I recommend it, if you are in nashville. And right downtown so close to everything else you want to see

Great Museum

By jordansbulls |

Went here today and the museum was really good. It was better than I thought it would be. Music from Johnny and the history of him.

Cash is king

By Matt F |

Love what I know and have heard of Johnny Cash - and after visiting this great Museum, I know much more and want to hear much more.
Engaging, interactive, enlightening and a great place to learn and get closer to a true legend.

Must see

By Catherine M |

I enjoyed visiting this museum. I stayed over 2 hours. There was so much to see, hear, and read. I remember some from my childhood but this museum exceeded my expectations. It is a definite must see.. conveniently located not far from hotels

A Singer

By Karin Ovadia |

Wow! What a man Johnny Cash was! And this museum certainly presents him well, all his many facets and talents. A true testimony to a full life and a man who left his mark on the world.

Interesting

By Rose |

The museum is FULL of Johnny Cash memorabilia. The displays are interesting but dated. There is so much to see in each space. It is difficult as too many people are allowed at one time. It became almost impossible to view all. The final touch before exiting is moving. Johnny is at the piano right before he died, singing his last recording.

There will never be another JonnyCash

By CarolAnnAstley |

Throughly enjoyed this journey through the JCash museum, so much data, colour and music to take in. As ardent J Cash peeps we abs loved it..loved…loved it. There were at times a few too many bodies in the same area and to stop and take in ALL the information that was being presented got a little tight. But a must see/do place 10/10.

Rude, Unfriendly, and Ignorant

By FunkyPhD |

The clerk who was working the front desk was rude and utterly ignorant. She didn’t greet us, and when we asked what the museum had, she replied “antiques.” She obviously had no idea what the museum was about, and whatever training she had was forgotten or ignored. We did not pay the $26.95 entrance fee, and will never return. I will also tell all my friends and acquaintances not to waste their time at this museum.

Johnny Cash Museum Tour

By Madisyn M |

We received an excellent, thorough tour from Randall Bart at the Johnny Cash Museum. He told fascinating stories and was extremely personable, professional and made the tour so enjoyable. Definitely a must see when in Nashville

FANTASTIC

By J & S |

We decided to go here at the last minute and we all agree so glad we did not miss this museum. It truly was wonderful with so much history and artifacts of Johnny Cash through his long and expanded career. The flow of the museum could be better---if you are a fan of JC in anyway this is a MUST!

Nashville in a week!!

By Craig C |

Incredible information, memorabilia and keepsakes from the life of Johnny Cash!!!
Top 2 museum in the Lower Broadway area

It wasn't for me

By Nancy A |

While the museum might have been fine, it was hard to tell with the huge crowd. It was difficult to see things and if you tried to read everything it caused the line of people to get all backed up. If you're a huge Johnny Cash fan, then be prepared; if you're not, or don't like big crowds, I would skip it.

SKIP THIS ONE

By T R |

There was very little to this museum. It took about 45 minutes to go through and we were taking our time. At the end, we couldn't believe that was all there was to it. I'm a HUGE Johnny Cash fan, but this was rather dull and NOT worth the money! Tickets were $25 each and close parking was $25. PASS on this one! The Patsy Cline museum in the same building is way better (and I wasn't even a fan of hers necessarily).

Must see for Cash fans

By Matt M |

I am a big Cash fan, so this is a bit biased. I loved it! I thought I knew a lot about Johnny Cash, but this museum built on the things I knew and exposed me to so much interesting history and things I didn't know. The biggest surprise is that my wife really enjoyed it. She is not a fan and knew nothing going in. Turned out to be one of the top attractions we visited for her. I would suggest that you give yourself plenty of time to soak it in and to study the artifacts they have on display. We were on a schedule, and that took away from it some. I would have liked to spent a little longer. If you're a fan, it's a no-brainer. If you're just curious, I would definitely recommend this. You will appreciate all the interesting stuff.

Fans of Cash must go - even if you're not a fan!

By lm55417 |

Four of us - all big Johnny Cash fans - were so impressed by this museum. For a small museum, they pack in a LOT of history and artifacts - from both his personal life and his career. Such a fascinating individual in addition to being a brilliant songwriter and performer. At first, I thought the $25/adult ticket price was a little steep until I got into the space and realized just how much they include. I learned a lot about Johnny Cash that I didn't know going in. Would highly recommend.

Loved it

By Voyage38385218365 |

My first call in Nashville - a JC fan since 1957 I was in my element - can get very crowded - saw a lot of stuff I already know and learned some I didn’t. Not too cheesy- plenty of boyhood to departure artefacts of the guy who knew how to say so much in simple powerful songs - loved it

Very interesting museum for fans of Johnny Cash or for whoever wants to learn more about him.

By Elisa G |

Interesting and full of graphic information. Fans of Cash will be more than delighted to visit it and those who are not familiar with the Man in Black will be glad to learn about his life and music. However, we believe there should be a section for Johnny Cash around the world with some of his recordings in German and Spanish as well as books, LP jackets, etc from different countries. Also, the section on artists covering his songs should be improved as there are many other artists who have recorded their versions of his music.

Accessible and Awesome!

By wheelswillroll |

I thought I knew just about everything about Johnny Cash. His music played throughout my house from childhood through adulthood. I had read so much about him and his life and his history. That being said, I went to this museum and learned even more that I did not know. If you are a Johnny Cash fan, or just love to learn about the origins of our music, this is a do not miss museum.

Not price worthy

By Michelle |

Out of all the museums we visited during an American tour this was the most expensive and didn’t last very long. Lots of interesting things to see but we expected more considering it cost nearly $60 for two people. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Reading/reviewing tour with some film.

By Darlene L |

Great life history of Johnny Cash growing up, family history, military history, music history and life struggles. Lots of stuff that led up to and beyond June Carter.

A review for "traditional" museum people

By IowaTraveler925 |

We loved Andrew Jackson's Hermitage. This visit reminded us that we are traditional museum people. We're not sorry we went, but we would not go in the future. If you are a traditional museum person, you may have the same experience.

This museum has quite expensive admission considering the limited space and items that are inside. The current layout of the tight space is not really logical and hard to navigate. This is more of a superficial exhibit like we'd expect to see in Las Vegas, which I suppose stands to reason given how Downtown Nashville has evolved towards more of a Vegas people. There was absolutely no docent or staff support inside. We always learn from staff when they're available.

Lighting is poor, making the information difficult to read. The shoulder to shoulder nature of the crowd in the tight space makes navigation between the 2 sides of each hallway difficult.

Some worthwhile items inside:
1. It's neat that a part of the stone wall from the unfortunately burned home of Johnny & June was excavated from the fire the property suffered and incorporated into the far wall.
2. Mother Maybelle's harp and the demonstration of Johnny's reverence for the Carter's was well done.
3. Johnny's childhood piano where he first learned music, which was one of his most prized possessions, was wonderful to see.

Given Johnny's almost unparalleled musical stature, I respectfully don't beleive this museum needs to be near Broadway to attract a sustainable audience. The Johnny Cash BBQ building next door space would be more effectively used as proper space for a more proper museum.

Does Johnny Cash merit a museum? Absolutely!

Is this a museum that properly honors his legacy? Respectfully, I don't hink so

Johnny Cash...was an icon!

By L H |

Jam packed with memorabilia-dating from childhood to his adult life. Many handwritten notes, songs, stories. Family and faith so important to him. The pictures with family especially touching. ❤️
Museum is neat as a pin, staff very cordial with southern charm!

Good Experience and Worth Visiting.

By Mick R |

If you are in Nashville and into Johnny Cash then this is a must do. Everything you ever wanted to know and more is here. Fascinating to learn about his life and amount of people that have covered his work.

Mixture of films to watch and songs to listen to. Only disappointment is no audio description available to help take in all displays of guitars and outfits.

Good gift shop and staff all very helpful.

Great Museum!

By melwashere81 |

If you are a fan of Johnny Cash then you have to stop here! They have so much to see and I love how it's all laid out. It was a bit crowded when I went so I wasn't able to stop and read everything but I did snap quite a few pictures. There is a guy watching the door to make sure noone enters without paying. He reminded me of a bouncer at a club but he was super nice. They do have restrooms BUT they are for customers only. After paying admission you will find a code at the bottom of your receipt which gives you access to the restroom. Don't forget to stop by the gift shop on your way out to grab your Johnny souvenirs! I would visit again.

Another Must Do

By Buckthorn1 |

Brilliantly laid out
Excellent presented
Interesting facts
Lovely staff
East to lose track of time here - but well worth it
Great central location, as is everything in downtown Nashville to be fair

Highly recommended

July 2024

By Levi James |

Really wanted to visit the Johnny Cash museum, really enjoyed walking around and finding out all about his great life! A lot of interactive moments as well throughout the museum. The only complaint was wishing it was bigger and also that they offered a double ticket where you could visit the Johnny Cash museum and Pasty Cline under one ticket instead of them being separate as I felt we got through this a lot quicker than expected

Cash is king

By nibianc2 |

The museum is small but interesting. Mostly what you would expect, clothing, guitars, drafts of music. Pay your respects in Hendersonville about 30 minutes away or so at the Memory Gardens cemetery. A must for Johnny and June fans.

Great for Johny Cash Fans

By flypiggy |

If you a country music lover and love Johny Cash, this is a place must have to go in Nashville. It locates in downtown, very easy to find and there are lots of to explore here.

Worth the time

By Jody K |

I went here due to my husband wanting to go here. I don’t really consider myself a Johnny Cash super fan or anything and I still enjoyed what they had to offer here.

Just ok

By Melissa E |

We did not think it was real good. We thought there would be more info. We thought there would be more of his items.

Museum

By Rita M |

A must see in Nashville. Great exhibit very interesting. Informative on music history . The Cash family and more. Gift shop on site. Reasonably priced

Very Interesting

By Janet J |

There is a lot of information and displays packed into a small place. Upon entry the first area is way too tight for the amount of people entering the museum. If you are looking for the 6 feet between each person, don't go. The cost seemed a little high especially when you have to pay extra to see the Patsy Cline Museum upstairs. We enjoyed our time, but just like Disney - you leave through the gift shop.

Fantastic Music Museum

By 1861JamesSue |

Excellent museum paying tribute to Johnny Cash. Glad to see plenty of memorabilia. It’s arranged nicely and easy to follow. It has a very nice gift shop.

A Must-See honoring an Icon.

By NoBeachInOK |

Being Native American & a veteran, I've had much respect for Johnny Cash. After visiting this museum, I just love him all the more. I was in awe from viewing of all his life accomplishments. He has touched America thru his singing, acting and philanthropy. My son, familiar w/few songs, was also amazed & totally enjoyed this museum. We bought souvenirs from the gift shop to remember this experience. This museum affirms that very few celebrities today can't hold a candle to Johnny Cash.

Great experience, must visit if in Nashville for first time.

By SueGam |

Great experience in Nashville. Could spend several hours if you wanted to read everything but just reading a few things and listening to a few clips, allow an hour to 2 hours.

Johnny Cash Fan Utopia

By LloydDob89 |

This museum was really thought out and creatively designed. Every area of his life is represented. The price was really worth it and the staff were very friendly. I really loved all the different listening stations, very cool. Highly recommend this for anyone who loved JC.

Memorabilia GREAT! Logistical NIGHTMARE!

By TommyGunz85 |

I enjoyed the displays and memorabilia.

Logistically, it wasn't what I was expecting. Too many people packed in like sardines. And TERRIBLE trying to find parking. Hope they find a location away from downtown with more room.

Was never much of a Cash fan, but throughly enjoyed all this museum has to offer!

By dbauman |

You can’t believe all the memorabilia this museum has gathered to tell his life story! Simply amazing. I was never much of a Cash fan years ago but this has made me a believer. Soooo much to see and learn about his life and music!
A MUST see if you’re in town.

Fun little museum

By Jenny Z |

This is a small but interesting museum. We finished it in an hour…we had two teenagers who do not know Johnny Cash’s music at all but they were interested in the information. Would have loved some more multi media aspects as opposed to so much reading. Loved the exhibit on all the people who have covered his music. It was fun to hear all the variations. It’s a bit expensive, but still worth it!

Don't miss this

By Carla H |

If you are a fan, do this! So many awesome original pieces. I enjoyed every minute of this museum and learned a lot about music and Johnny Cash!

A music legend

By PaulWat67 |

While not particularly a fan of Johnny Cash this was a must see visit for a man that holds some unbelievable records in Country music history

Very interesting few hours.

By Kelly B |

Really enjoyed this - it’s not a massive museum so can be done on 90 mins - 2 hours.
Loads of interesting stuff - I had no idea he did so much. Definitely worth a visit

An overpriced jumbled mess

By DrBryan |

I can’t imagine the music fan who actually gains ANY insight, or discovers anything from this mess of a “museum”. This is a really good attraction to avoid. Save your TWENTY-FIVE bucks a ticket (!?!). There is no “curation” at work in this tourist trap. There is however a scattering of generic gold spray painted LPs (which are not the actual Gold Records, not even close to official-looking RIAA issues) stuck to the walls. There’s such a dearth of content here, the largest exhibit depicts clothing worn by actors in the movie “Walk the Line”, while the trailer plays on a continuous loop. Mr. Cash is not in this movie, by the way. There’s a chunk of wall from a house he lived in…potentially the least interesting thing I have ever seen in a museum. There are headphones where one can watch a three minute Roy Orbison music video(?) should one wish to do so (no one does). And there’s a virtual sound mixing board where one can (presumably) make a re-mix version of a piece of a Cash song. It’s less sophisticated and engaging than something I could download to my phone, and it didn’t work. Not even a little.

Not the best way to spend your time or money.

Been wanting to go see this museum

By tazmtnbiker |

Well I learned so much about The Man in Black. I was impressed with the museum. Great job of sharing every aspect of Cash's life. Learned that he was a pretty acclaimed actor. Of course his music is classic and his talent was incredible.
I had a great time here.

Fun!

By JustATravelingGal |

I found this tour interesting, informative & fun. You could spend a couple hours there if you take the time to listen to all the music (via headphones) at the exhibits.

I walked the line to this wonderful place

By Fish the Mod |

Our first visit to Nashville and we made this our first museum. Felt very welcome as soon as we walked in.

The museum is not too big which works well as it takes you on a journey of the life of Johnny Cash.

If you’re a massive fan it’s brilliant, even better if you’re not. You learn so much.

You leave with mixed emotions. How sad he is no longer with us but didn’t he leave us with a lot of great songs?

A special mention to Kelly for her exceptional great customer service.

An interesting museum

By John Speller |

There is an incredible amount of artifacts here related to the great man: his clothes, gold discs, album covers etc.. As others have said, it is quite small and cramped, and I had a job finding the exit, but it a must visit for all music fans.

Take time to visit

By Patti104 |

Amazing place to be if you like Johnny Cash. Tells his history and that is something you would not want to miss. Gift shop is small but has a lot of interesting articles. When in Nashville make this place one of your stops.

Enjoyable

By Kim |

Very interesting, not large but plenty to see. Clips of video, photos and music recordings all very good. Memorabilia is also fun.

The Johnny Cash Museum, Nashville in March

By CMC |

Enjoyed this more than I expected, there are interactive activities with the sound mixers and music playback. Also you can sit and watch recordings from concerts, definitely worth a visit.

Ok Visit

By AtravelerG |

The history is fascinating. It’s clean. It’s well displayed, but tight fit. Unless you are a die hard Johnny Cash fan, it is not worth the $25+tax per ticket price tag. It is pricey for a a small, cramped museum.

Don't miss!

By jacquelinem350 |

Amazing.....actually enjoyed it better than the Country Hall of Fame.
A must do while in Nashville although the roads/sidewalks around it are quite busy and noisy...

Take this with a grain of salt

By Corbin G |

I'm not a country music fan. We only went in because we had a little time to kill. It seemed like it covered Cash's life pretty thoroughly. It was insanely crowded. It felt a little uncomfortable it was so crowded. And it was so small for the price. It was really 4 rooms with a couple of halls. Not big rooms at that. I'm sure if you're a big Cash fan you'd have gotten a lot more out of it. I just didn't think it was worth the price if you're not a big fan.

Interesting

By Uxcanuk |

Lots of memorabilia depicting his career. Videos of select events. Huge display of his awards, gold records. Nice museum.

Enjoyed it

By J D |

The museum had an extensive collection of Johnny Cash memorabilia and film clips. It's worth an hour or so to see it.

Country music legend

By Melissa K |

Very interesting with a lot of information in a small space. It was a great museum dedicated to this music legend

Small place, but had some good videos, pictures, and interesting articles and personal artifacts. Takes about an hour.

By Donna G |

Small little place hidden just off broadway street on 3rd avenue. Loved the memorabilia of Johnny Cash and the videos playing. Had some old articles and artifacts displayed along with his life’s journey. The order in which you walk through the museum is very confusing and out of order. Takes about an hour to go through.

Great Attraction!

By Kathy |

Reasonably priced attraction. Small place, but has a lot of history packed in. Loved all the displays of memorabilia. Easy access and can visit in about 1.5. -2 hours.

Ring of Fire!

By Karen S |

What to do on a rainy day with friends in town that needed a reprieve from Broadway - head to the Johnny Cash Museum on 3rd Ave! If you're a fan of Johnny Cash or American music history, the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville is a must-visit. The museum has received numerous accolades, including being voted the Best Music Museum in the U.S. in 2023 by USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards

Entrance fee is $28 + tax for adults and $24 + tax for children 6-15 yrs old. Children under 5 are free with a paying adult. Parking might be challenging and pricey, but there is a lot to do once you are done investigating the museum. We spent @ 2 hours exploring the museum.

The museum boasts the world's largest collection of Johnny Cash artifacts and memorabilia. HIs famous guitar with a dollar bill threaded thru it is beautifully displayed along with stage attire he wore. There are also interactive displays, photos, and recordings of his Folsom Prison performance. The museum is well organized and chronologically laid out. FInally, the gift shop has a variety of items and souvenirs to delight any collector.

Whether you're a die-hard Johnny Cash fan or a casual visitor, the Johnny Cash Museum provides a comprehensive and heartfelt tribute to one of America's most influential musicians. It's a worthwhile stop that offers insight, nostalgia, and a deeper appreciation for the Man in Black's enduring legacy. And, if you want a special treat, make a reservation for the House of Cards Restaurant and show which is in the basement of the museum. It was pricey for the food (which was also mediocre), but the entertainment was phenomenal!

great, ya gotta go

By Cary A |

great, ya gotta go if you are a johhny cash fan, they have a lot for the size of building they are in . many rooms and videos and memorabilia

Phenomenal Museum

By Michelle0417 |

Loved this! So many items to see, great detailed information about about his life. I was very impressed.

A legend in music

By Deborah B |

What an eye opening experience! A ch ace to see all the sides of a true legend
A must- see while in Nashville.
Johnny Cash was a poet, a balladeer, an ideologue, and a complex artist.

Cash Museum

By toddgin |

This was an awesome Museum. Better than the country music museum. Would recommend to come see Johnny's life history.

Excellent tribute to Johnny Cash

By GuyTraveling |

Fantastic overview of the life and career of Johnny Cash! Small, but thorough. Worth your time. I’ve taken several friends there.

Very Nice

By J E |

Definitely better than we thought! When we got here, it looks like a tacky tourist trap (like those Ripley’s museums in every tourist town), so we were skeptical, but took a swing anyways… It is pricey too, I think $25/pp, but they do offer AAA discounts and I think first responder and military too (it’s only $1 off).
Once we got past the ticket counter and were inside, it immediately impressed us! The layout, the exhibits, the actual music playing from different exhibits, etc… All were great and very nicely organized. The various artifacts are fun to look at and read about as well. They have a nice video area showing all sorts of interesting things that Johnny did, definitely worth watching.
If you like Country music, southern rock, and/or Johnny Cash, it worth a visit!

Great tour to take!!

By Tour195965 |

The Johnny Cash museum was excellent! Unfortunately there was not a very close place to park but the museum was very informative and fantastic!!

Great But Crowded

By John J |

Great overview of Jonny's life and career. A movie showed high lights of his appearances in TV shows and movies. I was unaware of much that was shown. I visited the museum during the first week of May. It was packed with tourists.

Not too bad

By CruiserIllinois |

Not too bad but I think it was about the same price as the country museum which was much larger. Rooms are kind of narrow so when you have lots of people in there it was hard to see things.

Fun museum

By Kris H |

More than we expected! We hesitated on going since these museums usually have a couple of things with a lot of merch to sell. This is packed with so much to look at and a couple of films running. Definitely take time to go here.

We're fans, so had to go

By PHILIP R |

Easy to find just off of Broadway and this museum shares the same building as the Patsy Cline Museum.
Plenty to see in here with loads of information and memorabilia. The chair in which he sat to perform the 'Hurt'video is very poignant and for us the cushion with the 'Rose of my Heart' message is very special. If you are a Johnny Cash fan, or not, it is definitely worth visiting. Memorable!!

Perfect for Johnny Cash fans

By ThoughtsFromAPage |

I'm a huge Johnny Cash fan so this was high on my list and it didn't disappoint. There's so much to see about Cash and all of his accomplishments. It's a small space but they pack a lot in. If you are a fan, you will love the museum.

Worth it

By Julie C |

Fabulous museum. Lots of authenticated items. Interactive audio and video stations. Really enjoyed reading the material. Spent about 2 hours here. Nice gift shop.

If you like Johnny Cash don't miss this!

By Lovetotravel9997 |

This was a very cool museum! It has longer hours then other places so went towards evening. Lots of videos were enjoyed as well! We learned several new things and found it totally interesting.

Must visit when in town

By Cheyenne N |

Greta museum with a lot of history and information on the man in black and his life and family. Very very educational.

Fitting tribute for the “Man in Black”

By Karen_D680 |

Extensive museum of JR Cash. The layout of the museum is easy to follow and is chronological of his life. There are a couple areas to sit and watch the videos about different aspects of his career. The first one was about his work in movies and television. The second one was The Ragged Old Flag speech. Third was where they showed a concert of him performing. My husband found notable a video on the wall of the song “Hurt”.

Good history, poor accessibility.

By jg1876 |

This was a very nicely laid out museum that spells out the story of Johnny Cash's life. I enjoyed seeing his letters and artifacts as they gave me a greater sense of who he was throughout his life. It also included features on other musicians or figures in Cash's life, which was interesting to learn about.

However, I was greatly disappointed to discover that there were a number of audiovisual displays, none of which had captioning. The Country Music Hall of Fame, just a few blocks away, had captioning for all of its videos. The lack of accessibility provided diminished my ability to fully enjoy the Johnny Cash museum and understand what I was watching.

It also felt overpriced — we were there for just over an hour and it wasn't a large museum. When we arrived, we thought our ticket fee would also include the Patsy Cline museum upstairs. Between the lack of accessibility and the cost of tickets for a one-hour experience, I don't know that it would be high on my list of recommendations for other travelers unless they were passionate Johnny Cash fans.

A Great, Informative Experience

By JCW703 |

I did not know much about Johnny Cash before visiting. I purchased a ticket in advance and arrived when the museum opened and had no trouble getting in. The exhibits were very informative and entertaining- high recommend. That said, as someone who is not a huge fan of his music, it took me about 30 minutes to see everything and move on.

A break from the heat

By Jodi M |

This museum was a nice break from the heat. It wasn’t a long visit and a little expensive (compared to the Country Music Hall of Fame).

Our Favorite Museum In Nashville

By Gaelic_Gypsy |

Located just off of Broadway, the Johnny Cash Museum is excellent and well worth the visit. The cost (at the time of our visit was $25.95 ( + tax) and you certainly get your money's worth as you follow Johnny from his early childhood through the multiple facets of his career.

As service member, musician, philanthropist, artist (yes, artist), family member, etc. you get an intimate look at the Man In Black. There is a very good representation of personal artifacts and music memorabilia that allow you to follow Johnny's life and career through various stages. Displays are carefully and meticulously labeled with many, many details and factoids, which make very interesting reading. For those not inclined to read the many placards, I would encourage you to take the time - they provide insight into a person I thought I knew but really did not. We particularly enjoyed the various small theaters or viewing areas where you could see and hear Johnny play, sing, recite, etc. In particular, the small area devoted to "That Ragged Old Flag" is beyond moving.

The museum can be crowded, especially at the beginning where there is a lot of reading. The entry room has very interesting displays on both the left and right side of this narrow room and it is difficult to navigate from side to side. I would recommend moving down the right side to the end and then, as traffic permits, moving back to finish the left side later on. The crowds seemed to come in waves and we found it easier to come back to the left side after things thinned out. You can navigate back and forth between all the different rooms and display areas, so take your time and move to where the traffic is least and you will eventually get to everything - and it is well worth it. Many people also seemed disinclined to read the informational signs and display placards and were waiting for us to move on. We decided to stand our ground and enjoy each display to its fullest; those wanting to move on, could move around us at their leisure.

In summary, this is a very good museum and well priced. We spent two hours in the museum and felt that we covered almost everything without getting overwhelmed.

Great Tribute Museum

By TrailTrekker15 |

We visited the Johnny Cash Museum for a couple of hours while exploring downtown Nashville. I knew relatively little about Johnny Cash so the museum was very informative. They had a large number of items from his life and music. Many of the exhibits were interactive allowing you to dig deeper if you liked. A couple of rooms had videos and music playing. It was a fantastic museum which has helped me have a greater appreciation for Johnny Cash’s music.

Disappointing!

By C D 69 |

Visiting from the uk and paid the equivalent of £44 for me & the wife. Thought it would have been so much better for what you pay. Wouldn’t waste your money.

glad we did this, was worth it

By Kelly W |

a definite must see for fans of him
so many interesting facts and displays to see.
and you are able to take your own time doing it.

Excellent Museum- worth a visit by any music fan

By Ian S |

Firstly this is two museums in one. Downstairs is the Johnny Cash museum and upstairs is a Patsy Cline museum. You can do either or both.
We only did the Johnny Cash museum.
Firstly, even at 11:00 on a Sunday morning the museum, which is small and compact was busy. Whilst this made it more challenging to see and read everything of interest it didn’t make it impossible.
Well structured it largely followed his life timeline. Some of the exhibitsI found most appealing were the audio and video clips.
There is a museum shop at the end which was well stocked with a wide range of items.

Great Museum

By Christine W |

I enjoyed all the memorabilia and learned so much about Johnny Cash. 3 stars because there was only one line for the gift shop, buying tickets, and picking up tickets for those who prepurchased tickets, such as myself. Plus, I felt the museum was crowded and should have had some crowd control.

Packed!

By Eliece J |

This museum is loaded with everything you want to see and learn about Johnny Cash. It was interesting to learn more about him as a person and I loved all the handwritten notes, etc.

Small but nice

By Ricmar60 |

This museum is a bit small and with the crowds that visit, it was difficult to appreciate all of the exhibits and information that was present. Right in downtown Nashville.

Simply Amazing, highly recommended

By Mark D |

The Johnny Cash Museum is a must whist in Nashville. It's located on 3rd Avenue just off Broadway. Staff were friendly & the displays & exhibits are simply Amazing. It costs about $30, but you could spend all day here! Highly recommended

Cash

By Susan H |

We really enjoyed our visit! Lots of info in a spacious, well organized setting in the heart of Nashville. We'd visit again.

Not good enough for Johnny.

By 702jilly |

I love Johnny Cash and I love museums. And that’s why I gave a rating of 3. Johnny deserves better than this. The audio displays required using a singles set of headphones that would be used by all visitors. Has anyone heard of a pandemic? We did not listen to any of the audio because of headphones. In this day and age, post a QR code and have people listen on their own headphones.

The layout of the museum did not make sense either. It was not grouped by topic or by time period.

Also, the lighting created glares and made reading signs and documents difficult.

I wish it was better.

Not what I was expecting

By kwo911turbo |

Not a great experience, the space is small and crowded, There was no floorplan to follow. You just wander around bumping into people all going in different directions. It was even hard to find your way out. Save your money and go to the Country Music Hall for Fame instead.

Everything Cash

By Jim L |

Everything Cash is here, not as big a display as I imagined and therefore a bit pricey, but then everything is in Nashville.

Try to fit it in

By traveltown |

We didn't have this on our plans but sure glad we went. About 2 hours and well worth it. We would go again. Lots of information and fun.

Nashville is nothing without Johnny Cash

By Tarya |

Nice museum, interesting about Johnny Cash's life and music career. They showed a video of him speaking and I remember it being very powerful. He was a charismatic man and thanks to June Carter, he finally got rid of his drug addiction.

Packed, but very well done!

By Isa b |

We went as a family of 4 with my nephew who is huge fan. The way the museum was presented made it easy for someone that didn't know much about him (such as my 14 yrs old daughter) to learn about Johnny Cash, both on his pre-artistic career, his musical career and personal life. The panels at the beginning are very clear and set up the context for the rest of the visit.

We truyly enjoyed it, and liked the films that also gave us a bit of a rest. This was a very nice surprise on our itinirary. It was rich in depth and artefacts.

The downside is that it was packed. Truly fully packed. It is a small place, and one could feel caustrophobic, or worried about COVID.

The gift shop has tons of things to please everyone... even those with a lot of money who want to buy signed stuff or originals.

Walk the line!

By Chelsey K |

Who doesn’t love Johnny Cash?! This was so neat to see and explore. Lots of interesting facts about him and others. Worth the price of admission I think.

Wikipedia on the walls with a couple of videos.

By TrailBlazer818448 |

Packed. Very little space or true interaction. Felt like someone had taken the Wikipedia page and added some big photos. Glen Campbell museum is how to do it

Randall was a great tour addition!

By Gina D |

Yesterday we visited the Johnny Cash Museum and we were lucky enough to meet the historian Randall - he overheard our group debating the most recognizable Johnny Cash song. He settled our debate kindly and then continued to tell us stories from the family, interesting facts about Johnny Cash and many other country greats. His knowledge of country music made the tour just that much better! I would highly recommend you visit the Johnny Cash Museum it won’t disappoint! Thanks for the hospitality Randall!

Johnny Cash museum

By George and Audr... T |

The most comprehensive collection of Johnny Cash and his career. I especially learned a great deal about his life in the 60’s. It takes about 90 minutes to go through the self guided tour.

Contains some unique features for Johnny Cash fans

By Jim S |

Great exhibits, backed by good music and even a chance to sing-along! A bit dark in some rooms but display cases are well lit.

If you love Johnny, you'll love this museum!

By Mrs. Wagner |

My family listens to Johnny Cash so everything about this museum was fantastic. From his humble beginnings to budding stardom to movie career, the artifacts, music and videos connected us to him in a new way.

Loved seeing his outfits -- all black, of course -- as well as June's dresses with itty bitty waists. There was a small section on the Walk the Line movie that wasn't as interesting as the real thing.

The ending was the best - his last video that included June in their final years.

If you like Johnny, don't miss this museum.

Could be better

By travellintheusa |

This museum would be a LOT better if it was not so dark inside. "Man in Black" should describe only Johnny Cash, not his museum !! Lots of documentation to read but so cramped you got bumped by people constantly. Museum is supposed to expand, so I hope they make better lighting and wider aisles.

Great museum!

By Graeme M |

Not being much of a country music fan I felt something lacking having not spent any time during the few days in Nashville at a museum or hall of fame devoted to this genre. I’m very glad I visited this one. Lots of neat things on display regarding Johnny’s life. Doesn’t go too deep in the weeds on his discography. Good coverage and background on the big hits we all know so well and appreciate. Lots of didactics to read, though not enough time to go through everything. Since my visit I have a new appreciation for the man and have put his music on the top of my listening routine.

Wanted 3.5. The crowds!

By Victoria S |

I liked the museum. I wish johnny was playing louder! I think 3.5 because of the crowds. There was no wait, they just put everyone in together. Too many people you don't get to see everything, much less read everything. If you're going to go, go during the week not prime season.

Nice Museum on Johnny Cash

By MPTrainor |

This was a nice tribute museum on Johnny Cash and his life. Took about 1 hour to see and read everything.

Great Viewing

By jols85 |

I am not a huge fan of country - but this was a very good and interesting museum. Would recommend for any fans.

Don’t Miss Out!!!

By Rita P |

Absolutely the BEST music museum I’ve ever seen! The layout, articles , presentations, clothing, documents were amazing AND all staff especially Randell was very friendly, informative and jovial. Don’t miss out on this experience…. And JC bar next door has great food and continuous live entertainment!!!!!

Great experience

By amandao722 |

We visited during our first trip to Nashville this last weekend and had a great time. The museum was setup really well and we learned a lot about his life, family, and career. I was really glad we got to see it and would definitely recommend checking the museum out while you’re there.

crowded during summer

By Linda C |

It was an interesting museum, a little crowded at times which made it difficult to take in all the information. Our youngest pre-teens were not as engaged halfway through the museum. I would probably try and go back when school is in session.

Great place to visit if you like Country

By JB P |

Perfect spot to spend about 1 hour. If you like Johnny or Elvis or that genre - you will love the self-guided tour. Lots of history and cool info. Probably 1-2 hours max. Great display and helpful people at the door.

Great for country and Johnny Cash fans alike

By VeniceVerdon |

A must for any fans of Johnny Cash. A small but comprehensive museum of the man and his life. Worth the price of admission. AAA ticket discount available. There are restrooms on site (small, but VERY clean). Easy to do this in addition to other activities as it is located right downtown.

Small but worth the visit

By bowtrob |

This is a great museum whether you know a lot or nearly nothing about Johnny Cash. Several
interactive exhibits made for an interesting and fun experience.

Great Set up

By rosalines2017 |

If you are a Johnny Cash fan - it's fantastic, if you are not a Johnny Cash fan still worth a visit as it had alot of information about the man

Beautifully done museum

By Rachel L |

I loved this museum. There was a lot of memorabilia to look at, and we learned a lot about the person who was Jonny Cash. The gentleman who let us into the museum was very knowledgeable too and informed us why Johnny Cash was the man in black. You see snippets of the films Johnny Cash was in, and they also played his Hurt video and had memorabilia from the video there including the chair he sat in. There was so much to soak in and learn about him that I would definitely recommend it. My only complaint would be that the museum was in a smaller space, so the information was more compact and you would have to wait to see some of the memorabilia, but I would still go back as it was definitely worth the wait.

Must Do!

By PamG512 |

This museum has a plethora of memorabilia, but is presented in such as way that is not overwhelming. I usually do not read too much at museums, but felt myself drawn and reading every display. I did not grow up listening to Johnny Cash or knowing much about him prior to watching the movie "Walk the Line," but I was fascinated by his character and life. The movie, as most don't, did not give him the justice he deserved. Young and old fans alike will appreciate this museum!

All about the Man in Black

By Jan4645 |

The place to go if you love Johnny Cash. Honestly, just a great visit of you are unfamiliar with him. Enjoyed all the memorabilia. Little on the spendy side especially compared to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Worth it, lots to see and hear

By Liv J |

Lots of different things from outfits to awards to military to guitars. Ton of stuff to see from childhood to death. I like Johnny Cash but wouldn’t call myself a crazy fan but this was really neat even as a casual fan. Definitely worth it.

Good, but….

By Alan V |

A good look into the life of the Man in Black. I don’t regard myself as a big fan, but I admire his music & the man. A few things were a bit amateur here - several of the pieces of tech weren’t working, or were only half working….with poor music output or jumpy video. And it was noted that JC was an avid photographer, so why are there none of the photos of his life behind the scenes..? Surely this gives us more insight into the man. It would have helped to justify the entry price.
But all in all, it was good to see the exhibition….& a key part of any visit to Nashville.

Loved

By Stephen D |

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and learned a lot of interesting facts about Johnny Cash. We listened to a number of Jonny Cash songs, much to our delight.

One of our favorite museums

By Jennifer G |

We head to this museum every time we visit Nashville it's that good. You really learn a lot about JR. A must see!

A Must for Fans

By EODUK |

All fans of the Man in Black would enjoy this museum. Plenty to see charting Johnny’s life and career, it’s a relatively small space and it can get busy. Gift shop is rather expensive $49 for an LP, not for me. Afterwords pop next door to the bar where you’ll most likey find a band playing some of Cash’s music, don’t forget hard copy ID is required to enter all bars in TN.

Enjoyable

By Satchmoocat |

If you're a Johnny Cash fan, this is a must see museum. We spent about 1 1/2 hours there. Lots of interesting photos and history. Two short documentary type movies about his life and travels.

Check the number of people in line before you buy tickets.

By 6166michelleg |

This has the potential to be an awesome learning experience about a beloved figure in music history. However, they let too many people in at once and it was impossible to get close enough to view/read the information as it related to just about everything. It was the most disappointing aspect of our trip to Nashville.

The Man In Black Did Not Disappoint!

By Jim G |

I loved that you could walk and look at your own pace. So much to see and learn, and listen to. Love the history with so many handwritten items to see. From his clothing, to his awards, housing, and his final written letter to June, it really was a special thing to see and do.

Happy birthday to me!

By PaulaPeterWenhardt |

Love: love Johnny Cash to see his museum was awesome! I could listen to his songs all day long.To be able to tour the museum is a thumbs up and must do when your here in Nashville!

Great experience

By Donald F |

We visited late morning - already busy. Great exhibits and gift shop. Interesting person as l items from the Cash family on display- including their 5 pedal family piano.

$20 admission well with it.

Great museum.

By Sherryl S |

Great museum. Johnny Cash was one of a kind and this museum does him justice. Very interesting. Really enjoyed learning more about this man. He was really intelligent and generous; much more than his music. He had his struggles but he was a man of principal.

Best Tour Guide Award: Randall Bart @ The Johnny Cash Museum

By Rob T |

The VIP Tour with Randall Bart was one of the best tours I’ve been on. Randall added so much value to the museum experience with his incredible first-hand accounts, stories, and insights he has gleaned over a lifetime. Go see Randall the next time you’re in Nashville! One of the best Bang-for-Buck things you’ll find!!

A Great Singer Who Had a Great Heart

By colette f |

I am not a huge country music fan, but am familiar with Johnny Cash. This Museum has so many artifacts from his life. It tells his story in a very clear and compassionate way. It takes only about an hour or so to view all the exhibits. We were able to park right along side it for a relatively hefty fee of $15 per hour.

Place was packed

By Martin R |

It is full of Cash memorabilia - some of it quite interesting. The biggest problem was getting through the museum. It was sooo crowded you we literally waiting in line in front of each exhibit. Felt too tight for me, so we rushed through. Management should manage occupancy better.

Just OK

By Nancy W |

This is a self-guided tour. The venue is dark and rather cramped so it felt very crowded. Displays were OK but could have been more interesting. Videos weren't great. It would have been nice to see an updated video narration about his life.

Fair

By Steve B |

I really expected more out of the museum.
However - as the offspring of an avid Johnny Cash fan, I was very familiar with much of the content but hoped to learn more.

Nice history

By Amy |

We felt this museum was just as good as the Country Music Hall of fame. It had some cool items from his childhood and early life.

Loved it all.

By BrettOz43 |

Loved every second of it. Some interesting artefacts and things to see. I especially enjoyed seeing the dining chair from the music video for Hurt.
Get there early to avoid the crowds, I got there around 10.30 am and spent about 1 ½ hours. By the time I came out there was quite a line waiting to get in.

I became a fan!

By Travelling Andy |

Stopped by while on a bus tour to Nashville - what an amazing experience! I knew the name Johnny Cash prior to coming to Nashville and while travelling, learnt so much more. I was a fan prior but have become an even bigger fan. Johnny's history and life has been so interesting to learn about - this location/experience is a must if it's your first trip to Nashville!

Appreciating Johnny Cash a bit more

By Doloreview |

I learned a lot about Johnny Cash here; made me like him more. It’s a small museum so can feel a bit crowded depending on when you go. Depending on how much you read or listen to here it will keep you out of the Honky Tonks for about an hour 😉.

Full Presentation of Cash Memorabilia

By Susan W |

Loved the personal letters from throughout his lifetime and relationships. Wide variety of memorabilia. If you're a CASH fan, this is a must see.

Great place to understand Johnny Cash's history or learn about his life

By 834roger |

We decided to visit the Johnny Cash museum before we even booked into Nashville - We were glad we did. It took a lot longer for us to see the displays than we imagined and it was well worth while - great to be able to photograph items and finally see so many items that we'd seen in videos, shows etc. To understand his politics and get a feel for his movie history also! Great to eat in the Cash diner next door too - with some great live music. We left happy, with an "I walk the line" dog lead from the well stocked store!

Well Worth the Visit

By AaronFWA |

QWe were so pleasantly surprised...wish we had allocated mpore than an hour..I would give the whole experience an A

Solid visit

Very complete, just long enough, interesting, entertaining! A must for Johnny Cash fans!!! In addition to a photo with him:) What more to ask ...🎸🎤🥃

Best country music museum in Nashville

By GABJMB |

We’re fans of modern country music, but also interested in some of the history. We’re not huge Johnny Cash fans, but still loved the experience here. It’s not a large museum but really packs a punch with lots of memorabilia well organized and presented. Great mix of video, audio and photos. Best museum we saw in Nashville.

Impressive

By Tjs |

Quite a small museum but there’s a lot packed in and it’s a very respectful and well presented array of Johnny Cash memorabilia. It can get a little busy but you can spend as long as you like there to read, view and listen to everything. There’s also a small movie show. Very good value for money and don’t forget to visit the bar next door!

Enjoyed Johnny Cash Exhibits but Patsy Cline Costs Extra

By Michael W |

We have both been life long fans of both Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. To visit the Johnny Cash section of the museum cost $28 per person including tax. We were shocked to discover that it would have cost the same again if we wanted to visit the Patsy Cline section of the museum. So disappointingly we decided to just visit the Johnny cash section. We really enjoyed the tour of the Johnny Cash Exhibits which were really interesting and enjoyable.

Great way to spend a couple of hours!!

By ccdtraveller |

History buffs need to go through this. I was a decent fan of Johnny Cash. It learned a lot more from this visit! You will be glad you spent those 2 hours here!!

Packed with history

By Cindy M |

Loved this informative little museum. A great setup and we learned so much. Allot of memorabila to make it worth it. Glad we went for sure

Obligatory if you like Johnny Cash

By Harrycalder |

A very complete museum and very respectful of the artist where everything is presented to help us understand and appreciate his popularity and his talent. Numerous personal objects and archival documents. A must if you like country music.

I would recommend...with pre-knowledge

By Brenda E |

I liked the museum and it did a lovely job of laying out Johnny's life. He was an amazing man. The history is good and the size of the museum was fine. I had some difficulty with the museum in that so much of it was in tight quarters with lots of people (true, I may have been there at a busy time) and also that much of the writing was so very small and not well lit. I would absolutely recommend going, but just watch for busy times and be prepared to do LOTS of reading small print.

Well worth the stop! Highly recommend

By AnnieDiR17 |

This was such a comprehensive museum. So much to see and experience! I was so impressed by all the old letters and clothing. I think all his old letters were my favorite. I read every one. I would plan a couple hours and if you need a break from all the info you can sit and watch him play in one of the rooms that is a small theatre. Really well done! Worth every cent!

Great visit

By Jane |

Had to visit here whilst in Nashville as Mr Cash was one of my late parents favourite musician. Was very good, lots of history of the man in black.

Loved It

By rebekah202003 |

Great museum. Randall was AH-mazing! You can tell that the museum respects and has a great relationship with the Cash family which is refreshing to see. Definitely recommend 👌

A must see!

By Kappy715 |

So many artifacts to see, even had his personal drawings & letters from when he was in there service. So many amazing pieces or memorabilia from his life.

Very Crowded!!!

By Bren |

This museum was so crowded, it made the experience unenjoyable. At some points, the line just didn’t move and you couldn’t go around people. Thinking timed tickets may be better. The displays and museum layout is good, but due to the crowds, I felt like I missed seeing some things and didn’t enjoy what I saw - shoulder to shoulder with strangers wasn’t what I expected.

some of the best time spent in Nashville.

By steve k |

The Museum was amazing. so much information, we learned so much more about Johnny Cash, his recording, personal life, movies he was in, over all life. It was a wonderful experience, and I will spread the word to all my friends that this is a must see. Upon exiting we were asked by a gentleman named Randall Bart. He asked a large group of people if they had any questions {perhaps a mistake} for him. It was game on we started asking questions he answered each and every one of them. Our conversation and questions continued out in the entrance area. We talked for a minimum of 20 minutes. Our family wants to thank Randall Bart for taking so much time with us and making us feel like wanted customers. I have been in business for myself for over 4 decades. Randall is a huge asset to your museum. Thank You Again.

Small but cool museum

Fantastic experience. Hats off to Randall who made us feel like his personal guests. New appreciation for the Man in Black.

Comprehensive Story of the Man in Black

By travelernottourist |

I have grown to be more of a fan of Johnny Cash and after this visit even more so. It is a very comprehensive museum about him and the many iterations in his life. Very well done and interesting to see all the artifacts. He lived such an interesting life and this museum helps you to go along his journey as well as “meet” his family and friends.

nice experience not only for those who love country music

an active life both in the world of country music and in cinema, you can find curiosities and immerse yourself for about an hour in the American world from the 60s onwards.

Great experience to see well put together you can take your time see everything great videos a lot too see

By Dreamer749768 |

Very nice experience for a first time person who knows his music very well put together nice displays good learning experience for younger people

Time well spent!

By cecilialeigh84 |

A wonderful being by the name of Randall Bart was walking along at the same time giving us personal history and back story of the man in black. He was very nice and wouldn't even take tips we were trying to give him at the end. The museum itself was very interesting as well. So many amazing pieces of history.

A great piece of country music history

By AnKa |

A must see for fans and non-fans alike. Well done exhibits, interesting stories, neat little extras (like his high school FFA membership card-awesome) and some pretty cool audio and visual exhibits along with standard ones.

Awesome museum

By Susie |

The museum is laid out very well and doesn't need to be done in a certain order to enjoy. If the TV/film section is crowded, move on to another room and then loop back. I enjoyed the TV and film clips from Johnny's career - I didn't realize he had done so much. The artifacts were amazing. Like the stone wall that came from his house in TN and the letters he sent to his sister and his original bible. So many mementos perfectly preserved for the future to enjoy. Watching the Hurt video was very touching and I was glad it was part of the tour.

interesting and comprehensive tour

By globtrotteuse |

An interesting and comprehensive tour that allows you to learn a lot about Johnny Cash's life and his great music

Disappointing and overpriced

By 103geno |

We recently completed a tour of the US and visited a number of Country Music attractions on US23 amongst others so while we were in Nashville we thought we’d pay a visit to the Johnny Cash museum.
We both like his music but we’re not avid fans and my Knowledge of the man in black is based on ‘Walk the Line’, Ken Burn’s ‘Country Music’ on PBS and a few other documentary’s, magazine articles etc.
So for our $54 entrance fee each I was expecting something special, but unfortunately it was very disappointing, even with our limited knowledge we were both familiar with the majority of the stuff in there.
To be honest I think it’s way overpriced and not worth bothering with.

Very Small

By S J |

This was a self-guided tour, but it had a lot of Johnny Cash memorabilia throughout. It also had some great old videos we enjoyed watching.

Johnny Cash was truly a legend in country music

By brenda |

If you grew up listening to Johnny Cash, you will love this museum. I learned so much about him that I didn’t know (like how many movies he was in!)
Check it out !

Strongly recommended for Johnny Cash fans!

By mikeyboy_esq |

This small-ish museum located in DT Nashville has lots of cool Johnny Cash memorability together with a few areas showing short films. Their gift store also has several good T-shirts, cups, hats and other goodies available for sale. Definitely worth a visit if you are a big fan of Mr. Cash.

Fan or not, a must see!

By terririzor |

Visiting Nashville for me is about the music and food, and while I was not a big fan of Johnny Cash, I certainly left this museum being one! Such a talent, I had no idea.

There is so much to see and hear about his life, from very humble beginnings, through bad and good times. Hearing others cover dozens of his songs, was the highlight of this tour. Such great music! He was a far better actor than most "crossover" entertainers today.

I have been twice and I will probably go every time I visit Nashville. The first time wasn't crowded at all (May 2021). The second time (March 2022) it was crowded and if there's a way to plan it, I'd advise going when less people are there.

Small but worth it!

By Deana P |

We all enjoyed this visit. First trip to Nashville we didn't have time but glad we finally made it here this time. We all really enjoyed it. It's small but totally worth the trip. Really loved the last part of the musuem. Very moving actually.

Well Worth the Cash - Highly recommend!

By Paul McMahon |

Full of treasures dedicated 2 all chapters of Cash’s life + music. Xtra praise 4 host, Randall Bart!

Great Museum with Johnny Cash Bar & BBQ next door!

By NC Travelers |

This is a great museum for Johnny Cash fans. Price is reasonable and they have a military discount. Museum was interesting and was loaded with memorabilia. The museum is on the first level and there is a Patsy Cline museum upstairs for an additional price. Next door to the museum is Johnny Cash's Bar & BBQ with entertaining live music, food and drink. Would recommend both!

Interesting, worth the visit

By Kathy H |

The museum is pricey, but you truly get an in depth education on the life of Johnny Cash. There are lots of stations to listen to his music. They have furniture from his house, lots of costumes and various artifacts from his life. It's a nice break for a bad weather day.

Cash worth the cash.

By Thomas W |

This place was awesome. Go early it can get crowded. Don't forget to visit The Cash Carter grave site 30 min. north in Hendersonville.

Great museum

By Lauren |

Very informative and a nice mixture of multimedia sections. Great gift shop with lots of cool merch.

A little disappointing

By Sheplo |

They did a nice job with a timeline of events. A few short videos. Several interactive touchscreens…unfortunately 1/2 of those weren’t working. Not a lot for 30 bucks

Gotta love the man in black!

By Jessica M |

This was a good museum. We went on a Monday and it wasn’t too busy. Self guided, so you can stop and view everything at your own pace. Lots of personal effects and professional memorabilia. We learned a lot and a great place to visit if you’re a fan.

Asked to leave because of ID

By Nicola M |

I am 52 years old and had ID on my phone to prove that but they still asked me to leave even though they allowed my kids to enter (they had their passports on them) As I understand the law, if you’re over 50 you don’t need ID and in any case I had photographic evidence of my age in both drivers license and passport. Makes no sense to me, as I am 31 years above legal drinking age

CMA fest visit

By Angel G |

Knew plenty of Johnny Cash before the visit. Was still cool to finally see everything in person.
While exiting the museum they played "Hurt" on video. Definitely made my wife and I tear up when it was done

Cash is king

By pj c |

Take your time and enjoy this beautiful museum which features lots of wonderful parts of johnnys life. It is well presented and a great place to visit

Nice Museum but Crowded

By MNGirl7 |

We stopped by this museum after going to the Country Music Hall of Fame. It is a really nice museum with a lot of interesting artifacts. The only downside was that it was very crowded in some areas so we weren't able to get to some of the displays.

Must see

By Cynthia M |

We had an amazing visit , absolutely love Johnny Cash, we learned some new fun facts about JRC such as he had guest spots on Little House On The Prairie! Very Cool!

Great museum

By SharonJT67 |

Visited on Monday with mum who is an avid Johnny Cash fan, she was in her element mooching about, plenty to see & do & even a photo opportunity with him in his younger years as well as the older JC. Plenty of audio to listen to throughout the self guided tour. We spent a good 2 hours inside & was well worth the visit, really easy to find just off Broadway!

Disappointing and not engaging

By FoodieOfDublin |

The museum was a little disappointing. Couldn’t really take any photos with the glass cases and lighting reflections. Was small with little room to move. Think if there was an audio accompaniment it would really help and improve the tour. As a massive fan of Johnny Cash, felt I didn’t learn a lot. My partner knew nothing of his life, and felt bored and wanted to leave as it was not very engaging Mc which was disappointing. Felt it was a little over priced for what you get.

Must see for fans

By david1892 |

Loads of memorabilia and it tells the story of his whole life up to his death and the story of his wife.Great details of his albums and chart success.Short tour easy to do in an hour..

Good to see.

By Reggie |

Glad we saw the Johnny Cash museum. It was nice to learn more about his life and accomplishments. They kind of glossed over some of his issues and said very little about his family. Also it is way overpriced for the size of the place and content. However, glad we went.

A tad 'touristy' but still worth your time

By brett s |

This is a cool place to see if you are already in the area. It does tell the story of the legend. I didn't realize what a great person he was. He supported the poor and under privileged and was a humanitarian. He also supported prison reform.

Awesome!

By Joe |

I've been a fan of Johnny Cash since I was a kid and have been wanting to see this for some time. I was impressed with the whole story of Johnny Cash. The man was impressive and the displays and short films were awesome.

Great Little Museum

By Susan D |

Great museum if you are a fan of “the man in black.” It’s a little cramped but the memorabilia displayed is terrific. Lots of photos and displays, an interesting film on his work in film and television and music performances you can listen to with headphones.

Very Interesting

By DowneyMK |

Who doesn't love Johnny Cash?! The museum has a lot of information and a lot of bits and pieces of Johnny's life. A must see if you are in Nashville. Who knew he was in so many movies/TV series? Did you know he was in the Air Force? Seriously, check this out.

Great museum

By tcamp8699 |

The museum was great and had tons of memorabilia. It was packed full of information and photos. My only complaint is there were way too many people allowed in at the same time. We basically skipped the first room just to get away from the crowd. You feel very rushed when everyone is toe to toe.

A must for a fan

By Markus |

As a fan, the museum is a must. Very interesting. Here you can really immerse yourself in this time and its music. I'm glad to have been here.

Great overview of a legend's career.

By frequentflyer414 |

This is a small museum right off of Broadway (the main tourist street with all of the honky tonks/bars). It was not very crowded and had a great deal of information regarding his long career and milestones. It included numerous videos, his musical equipment, clothing and personal items from his homes. They have a great gift shop also.

Excellent

By stacy w |

The best experience my husband and I ever had!! Randall was giving a new employee a tour and he gave us the tour with her also. He is very knowledgeable on Johnny Cash and his career. Randall tells great stories along the way with each exhibit.

Johnny Cash Fan? Then a must!

By PennsylvaniaMigz |

This museum took us about an hour and I read EVERYTHING! Super interesting about JRs childhood. Totally worth our time

I walk the line..

By SolangeM |

It's a quaint little museum about Johnny cash. The gift shop area is just about the same size as the museum. There are a few neat artifacts and history about Johnny cash's story. If your looking for something quicker to fill in a gap in your day then check it out.

Man in black

By yorkscbuckeye |

Tons of original artifacts hand written letters and original items. Lots to read and learn. It's a little pricey but not horrible. The only negative it the audio stations only have one head phone. A qr scan and listen would be a great upgrade.

Nearly 3 hours - and I will return!

By Rocky_lil Rhody |

My partner and I spent nearly 3 hours in the Johnny Cash museum! It is said to allow an hour, 2 if you take your time through the self guided tour experience. We loved it. We took our time enjoying all of the exhibits, and enjoyed the many interactive exhibit experiences. We even back tracked a few times to our favorites! The Johnny Cash Museum was our favorite "paid for" activity during our first trip to Nashville in November. We even splurged on a souvenir photo, which is something we typically do not do. Near the photoshoot area, there was a covered area, being prepared for a new exhibit...I commented to a museum employee "that gives me a reason to return!" Not only do I recommend the Johnny Cash Museum, I will be back one day! I made some purchases for my son in the gift shop, and the employees were friendly. I look forward to sharing the museum experience with my son next year!

Johnny Cash a place to see!

By Sightseer48038434920 |

The johnny Cash museum was very intersting with his complete history including items way back from grade school, military service and so much more.

Loved it ❤

By Sharon M |

This was top of my list for things to do in Nashville. I loved it. Took time to take everything in. Read everything and looked at everything.
We visited in February in the morning. It was nice and quiet which was perfect. Lots to see but not such a large space for when it gets busy.
I'd recommend a visit.
Great gift shop too

The Johnny Cash Museum: A Must-Visit Nashville Landmark

By bhlraven1916 |

The Johnny Cash Museum is one of the best stops in Nashville. It honors the legendary country artist whose deep voice and powerful music made a lasting impact. The exhibits highlight his support for minorities, his career, and even his daughter Rosanne’s music. A must-visit.

Highly recommend!

By debmac66 |

As a lifelong fan - wow!! Personal letters, clothing, furniture from their home! Definitely recommend you stop here, well worth it!

Well done, loved every minute

By HarrisClan_10 |

Loved this museum and how Johnny Cash’s life and talents were showcased. Spent 2+ fabulous hours there and would’ve loved to see the Patsy Cline Museum upstairs but we were just too dang tired.

A legend brought back to life.

By Chris J |

Whether you love Johnny Cash’s music or are just a music fan, this is a great visit. Loads of history and loads of opportunities to listen to some of his classic songs. Seeing the story evolve from the fifties to 50 years on is a true story to enjoy.

Great!

By CBArnold |

A fun tribute to the Man in Black! Informative, easy to follow and a great way to learn more about Johnny Cash. Small but worth a visit!

Excellent exhibits but cramped and a bit pricey

By lori8146 |

This museum provided a lot of information but felt cramped and crowded. Especially given the cost. For 2 adults and a child it was over $70 for admission. For an additional admission price, you can go to the second museum in the second story of the building. It might be nice to see them, expand the Johnny Cash exhibit into the second floor and spread it out a bit so that you don’t feel so cramped, or offer the second floor free as part of admission. I think it would’ve made it feel as if we got more value for the cost of admission as well.

CASH museum in Nashville, excellent!!

By VDC0521 |

What a wonderful tribute and history lesson about Johnny Cash! This museum has old film footage of Johnny singing, photographs of not only himself but his family as well, and of course tells the history of his life. If you are a true Johnny Cash fan then this museum is a must see for you!! The admission is $25.00 each which we thought was well worth it.

Love The Man? You Will Love His Museum!

By Casacarajo |

Relatives had been there recently and said it was one of the "Must do's" on our trip, and they weren't wrong!
Plan to spend at least an hour there with Johnny!

Man in Black

By Maryjean S |

If you love Johnny Cash you will not want to miss this! Self guided tour that takes about an hour. Just steps away from Broadway

A good time for Johnny Cash fans

By Jerry G. |

If you're a fan of Johnny Cash, this museum should be very enjoyable. In addition to the numerous bits of memorabilia and the history of Cash's life, there were several multimedia and interactive exhibits. Think you could have mixed some of Cash's hits better? There's an iPad mixing board where you can try and find out. Fun!

Tears and Memories!

By Becster |

Roadtripping and stayed in Nashville for 2 days - what did I do??? Go to the Johnny Cash museum!!! I smiled, I cried, I sat and watched the videos. And then I teared up a little more. What a great tribute to an amazing artist!

$$, artifacts, vinyl, history

By Samantha M |

A must see for nashville. Very cool museum. I loved the vinyl wall and the ragged old flag section. Great location. Artifacts from Cash home.

Too expensive

By Lenny H |

This is a relatively small museum, which is not reflected in the entry fee. The museum was very busy, but as we were halfway through they let in an additional large tour group. It really was too crowded to enjoy the exhibits properly.

You don't need to go down to Reno for this one!

By Danny L C |

Amazing place! So interesting. Well worth a trip for any music fan. It took me ages to look around and I think it would still be worth a trip back

Great museum

By Kim D |

Great museum. Great items to view and lots of history to read. Loved it! Photo opportunity, the photographer was great and pics were affordable.

Nice place to visit

By GobblersRoost |

We really enjoyed our visit to the Johnny Cash Museum. We spent just over an hour looking at all the memorabilia. Great opportunity to listen to music, read interesting facts, and see short films.

Cash museum

By Dean S |

So much history on the man in black. Nice video clips and lots to read and learn of the family. Would recommend this to all people.

Hello I’m Johnny Cash

By James C |

I have to say if you are in Nashville put this on your list.
My Father and I listened to Johnny Cash and it brought back good memories. I learned alot about Johnny Cash and all the things he did besides singing.
If you can take the photo picture with Johnny Cash you will cherish the photos.

Everything Johnny... and then some....

By Kerry B |

Small museum chock full of Johnny Cash memorabilia and some great videos. Tucked away right off the main drag... glad we went.

The place to spend your CASH

By James Harvey |

If you love the man in black, you’ll love the museum. When booking our holiday to Nashville from England this was the number one thing I was looking forward to (and the Chris Stapleton and George Strait concert) and it didn’t let me down.

The museum is packed of interesting information, clothing Johnny an June wore, videos, gold discs, historical items and much much more.

Even if you’re not a JC fan, it’s an absolute must visit of a place, to learn all about the man in black, would loved to have a word with bill miller having listened to his podcast on Johnny cash for years, really good listen.

Finally the museum is fantastic, however if you’re a super fan like myself, Johnny and June are buried 20 minutes outside of Nashville in Hendersonville, it’s really nice to pay your respects to Johnny and June, but do be mindful of the other graves, Johnny and June’s house is also a very short drive from the cemetery and if you’re lucky, you might catch the friendly neighbour that knew Johnny and june well.

Suet

Venue is Too Small

By PeachySuffolk |

The exhibits within the museum are very interesting with lots of personal memorabilia relating to both Jonny Cash and June Carter Cash but the layout was haphazard and the venue way too small to cope with the number of visitors. They need to find a bigger venue so they can space everything out or sort out some sort of one way system and a timed ticket because you are forever having to go back on yourself and bumping into people.

Go on Walk the line 😎

By mferguson11 |

You know I walked the line to take the tour, it was so hot outside I thought I’d fallen into a ring of fire, just as well I wasn’t dressed in Black 😆😆
Ok you guessed it I was in the Patsy Cline museum, No Sorry the Johnny Cash museum I mean 😁
Again like everything in this beautiful city it was well laid out and contained so many artefacts which either belonged to him or enriched his life, which in turn enriched ours.. Like so many others you only think you know everything or think you do until you walk through the door of a museum like this, and this is not the only gem in this supercharged city.😎
I’m not gonna keep on going, just go and enjoy this city of wealth, knowledge & enrichment 🫡

Great memories

By Gena M |

This museum covers all of his life, many videos you wouldn’t see anywhere else. Great gift shop. Very good value for the money

Full review of Johhnys lfe

By Brian S |

Some of the displays were not functioning but overall the museum was s plus if your a Cash fan- a bit overpriced however and don't go to the restaurant under his name as its well not worth the money

The Man in Black

By Chris |

I wish I would have watched the movie again first but I found the museum very informative. The Patsy Cline Museum is on the back side of this building but we ran out of time.

I wouldn't bother unless you are a big fan of his

By Glyn M |

We went there to see about an icon of Country Music and was disappointed. Half the audio wasn't working, there was little detail on his music, and it was expensive to get in.

Impressive

By buckeyebears |

We’re not exactly country fans. But my husband does like Johnny Cash. We were both very impressed with the man, his talent, generosity & what he over came during his life. After going through his museum, I have a new appreciation for him & all he accomplished. Whether you like him or not, this museum will certainly give you new insight into this man. Not to be missed!

Only go if not going to the other two Nashville music museums.

By J & D |

If you’re a big fan of the man in black then this is for you. However if you will also be visiting the Musician’s Hall of Fame, and or the Country Music Hall of Fame, then there is no need as Johnny Cash is also covered at those locations.

Really enjoyed

By Jackie H |

Anyone with any interest in Johnny Cash must include this stop in their Nashville visit. Excellent collection of information and memorabilia. It was crowded; they could use more space but it was very enjoyable. One of the best museums I've been to.

Worth visiting at least once in a life time

By StrangeTripper |

Putting aside the rather steep entry fee, the Johnny Cash museum has a treasure trove of memorabilia. Even if you're just a casual Johnny Cash fan, this museum is definitely worth a visit at least once in a life time. And since i'm a museum enthusiast, i spent a good 4-5 hours there.

Definitely recommend.

Beautiful. Don't miss it if you love Johnny Cash.

By Aenneken |

I love museums and go to one every time I'm traveling to a new place for pleasure. As a long Johnny Cash fan, this is one of my top three museums. So much amazing detail went into curating the content. I love it.

Learn about Johnny Cash

By kathy |

learned alot about Cash that i never knew. its a small museum & for the price to get in, take your time and read all the exhibits. lots of photos, there's short videos to watch. go early. when we passed it later in the day, there was a line to get in. was very interesting. Johnny Cash was a good man.

Nice exhibit

By Dee G |

The flow of the museum was off. I liked the exhibits , it was difficult to take in everything with the layout and crowd of people. I did appreciate the cheerful staff.

Johnny Cash, museums are special.

By Yujunzhu F |

Johnny Cash Museum is popular in Nashville . If you're interested in Johnny Cash , you're sure to visit this museum. You need to spend $30.34 on tickets. It's got history, photographs and a lot of used stuff about him. Johnny Cash Museum has a store where you can buy very special gifts, expensive and cheap. After business, there are hats in addition to clothes. (Tips: only credit cards and cash can be paid here)

If you love fun tour.

By Elizabeth S |

Johnny Cash was so more than I thought. Such an amazing person with talents in everything and a museum shows it all. Very enjoyable time. LOVED IT , LOVED IT !!

History at it's best

By Joe S |

Private backstage tour of dressing rooms a must see.
Great walking onto stage.
Must see. Not for kids!
Fantastic history

Good for Johnny Cash fans

By Chris W |

Interesting and interactive. We enjoyed the videos and history. They fit a lot into a relatively small museum, but it’s close to Broadway and space is definitely at a premium. It was expensive though, I would have valued it at around $15 per person.

No 1 pick for Nashville

By Ian T |

We had a great time here. There is so much to see and learn about Johnny Cash and his life, really informative and lots to see.

Awkward but good

By Patron17 |

Small and awkward museum. The flow is strange and it is crowded. The artifacts are plenty and learned new facts about JR Cash.

Overall we are happy we went. The museum could improve with timed entry, and more signage.

"Must see" in Nashville

By Jeffry b |

Johnny Cash was more than a singer. He volunteered for military service, where he became an Air Force signaller. He took some important messages, including the death of Joseph Stalin. Cash always wore black, in memory of his elder brother, who died in an industrial accident. Although Cash sang of lonliness, lost love, loss and suffering, he was a deeply religious Southern Baptist. This musem has many artifacts related to Johnny Cash and gives an insight into a man with a great talent and a great soul.. It's a "must see" if you are in Nashville.

You must visit

By Debbie doo |

2nd visit . Both experiences fantastic. This time more enjoyable as museum is expanded . Easy to walk around and find everything. Went next door to bar . Live music which was fab . Visit while in Nashville .

If you love Cash, it’s worth the cash

By Autumn G |

There was a lot of good info here but the presentation seemed a bit haphazard- it was pretty crowded. Most of the exhibits had small font to read and in a crowd that was difficult. I love Johnny Cash so I’m glad I went, but don’t expect to be wowed at this museum.

Johnny Cash fans - a must!

By Andrea P |

What a great experience, we learned so much about JR that we didn't know! Randall was a wonderful employee who had a plethora of information to share with us!

A great tribute to Johnny

By mommyboggs |

We came to Nashville to bring our 2-year-old son to the Johnny Cash museum! He absolutely loves Johnny. He was absolutely amazed with everything. He sat through every video that they had and watched it repeatedly. He loved the wall of albums and he walked through to find his favorite one, Ring of fire! He truly loved looking at everything and was amazed. There was a lot of people and it was a little bit of a cluster in overwhelming at some points. There was staff there that was not very helpful and trying to rush us through and telling us which way to go. I kind of felt like that could have been handled at a better way. But overall there is so much amazing things in here. For a true fan, it is a great stop!

A Johnny Cash Fan's Happy

By Trish W |

This is not a huge museum but it does a good job of documenting the Johnny Cash story. It was not difficult to traverse and a few videos broke up the reading, I recommend it to fans of Johnny Cash and the people who surrounded him.

A fun music singer museum

By PH-Travel-Lovers |

We like Johnny Cash so we like the museum.

It takes about an hour or 2 to go through the museum.

Plenty of Cash information about his life, songs and career.

Not much of a veteran discount but a little bit.

We got to see several video’s of Johnny through the years.

The location is right in the tourist area of Nashville. Plenty of parking lots in the general area.

A Johnny Cash bar / restaurant is right next door.

Too crowded and not well presented

By Warren F |

We went during the week, before lunch and it was ridiculously crowded. While there were many exhibits, the only way to enjoy them was to get up close, read and listen. That was impossible with the number of people. The museum needs to control the number of people but that's contrary to their profit motive.

Possibly what Nashville...

By JanQQQ |

... is: a little too much of everything. Too much at the entrance fee ($31), too many people crowding the narrow hallways of the museum, too much information on too many often too small displays.

If you like Johnny Cash, you won't be able to miss a visit to this museum.

Too gigantic the work of this man. An icon of country, rock and roll and blues.

You should walk back and forth and always choose a corner where fewer people stand to be able to take in the information about individual stations of your life, e.g. his three years of military service in Germany.

I liked the video installations such as his poem about the worn American flag.

I was there about 9.45 in the morning - apparently way too late. You may have to get there a quarter of an hour before opening to avoid the crowds.

Better than expected

By Pete F |

Better than expected! Learned some things we didn't know about Johnny Cash. Exhibits were well done.

JCM worth a stop

By CanuckAlberta |

We visited today with four adults and quite enjoyed the museum. I don't think I would recommend this place to anyone who is not a fan, children would be quite bored here. But we are fans of Cash and found it took a couple of hours to make our way through the displays.

Fitting Tribute to A Country Legend

By Colin Archibald |

I personally am not a fan, but I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed this museum. Chronicaling the Life of one of Country Music's Legends. From his youth, time in the Air Force, and a career in Music and Film. I couldn't believe how many films and TV shows he was in. You can't help but respect a star of his stature whether you liked him or not.
This was actually my second visit, as I was bringing family to have the experience.

This place captures the essence of Johnny Cash

By Water K |

Visited the wonderful Johnny Cash museum in December 2022, it has so much history of Johnny and his music. Honestly one of the best parts was Randall, the museum historian, who really made the place even more informative and enjoyable. He had so much information to offer about Johnny. Chat up Randall when you go there, he is a wealth of knowledge.

The Life of Johnny Cash in his Museum!!

By Rick B |

What an AMAZING Museum to honor a great performer. Didn't know what to expect, but was really impressed with all we saw on display. I would recommend to visit this museum when you are in Nashville.

J & J

By Julie S |

We really enjoyed it- parking was at a premium- but the museum had alot of cool memorabilia!! Has quite a few videos and a place to get your photo with him on the green screen!!

Well worth the Cash

By mmandiw |

This museum was amazing! I wish my boyfriend and I didn't have the worst hangover of our lives when we went, we would have appreciated it even more. The history and nostalgia really makes you resonate with Johnny Cash as a person rather than a celebrity. The appreciation of his life is shown full screen in the museum and touches both happy, and sad moments. I can't wait to make a return visit the next time I'm in Nashville.

Enjoyable and Informative Tour

By Dave |

Quite enjoyable self guided tour of history of The Man in Black! A couple of good video presentations where you can site down. Initial area gives a by decade timeline of Johnny Cash. You can even get a picture with Johnny…. for $13.95 additional. About a one hour tour, worth it if you like Mr Cash

Awesome

By Mike K |

Wonderful place to visit to see Johnnys life. There was so much more than I expected and it was worth every penny. Would definitely go back again.

Aggressive Security

By CrazedProf |

A great display of awesome memorabilia though much weaker on the later years and some of the challenges that Johnny faced. But our visit was marred by security telling us that plastic water bottles (though empty) were not allowed in the museum. What? Tip for others: keep them in your backpacks. A little silly I know.

Very cool

By Heather3190 |

Very beautiful little museum, a really great homage to a legend and his family. Beautifully displayed and tons of interactive audio things to do.

Small but very engaging

By livingtinybig |

This small personal music museum is an enriching
destination, but the collection wonderfully presents the evolution of country music. What an engaging displays. The museum is well curated - simple yet detailed, offering insights into the lives of renowned artists. The staff is attentive and enthusiastic, enhancing the overall experience. Whether you're a country music lover or a history aficionado, this museum definitely leaves delightful impressions.

Amazing Museum about Johnny!

By Engl1shDave |

Had to visit whilst we were here in Nashville from England as we love JR but even more so after being around this museum!
Many exhibits and details to read and listen to as you tour - Highly recommend!

I will go back if they lower the prices

The history was great and display was amazing. The price that we paid should have been for both museums. It is only good for a one-time deal.

Johnny Cash

Nice museum right off Broadway. Perfect for a hot afternoon. An abundance of information and artifacts on Johnny Cash. My husband wanted to go and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Lots of intersting tidbits that we did not know. A nice little trip back in time about his life and his music. Very interesting.

A good image of the life of Johnny Cash

Located just off Broadway in Nashville and quite near the river this smallish museum dedicated to the life of singer Johnny Cash is packed full of mementos such as musical instruments, clothing, records , photos and ephemera such as posters books and his writings in notebooks, as well as furniture and a even mock up prison cell. There are displays too featuring some other artists such as his rock & Roll stable mates at Sun records plus Bob Dylan. Added to this there are a couple of interesting videos to sit in front of during your visit. A compact and entertaining museum and worth an hour or so for a visit.

Save your money and time.

Information cards are very small with very small font. Unless you have vary good eyesight, you aren’t going to have a good experience trying to read them. To add to this, the aisles are very narrow so you have to wait for other people in front of you to move on before you can get close enough to stand any chance to read them.
At $54.52 for two tickets it definitely wasn’t worth the money for me. I asked the employees there (three of them) if they had a comment card for constructive feedback, none of them knew, nor acted like they cared.
Chalk that up for money flushed.

Right on Broadway.

Interesting museum with lots of facts and interactive things to do. It’s not really my thing, however my family and partner wanted to go in and it was actually quite interesting. Right off broadway and a nice way to break up your day too!

Great museum with a range of information

It was an incredible experience. My only downside was at the start it is a small space so it is quite cramped with people reading the same information due to the high number of people who are there . The information is very interesting and there is a range of different media to interest all. The rooms with the video or music are worthwhile stopping to watch and find out more about his life. It is a really well thought out exhibition.
