We were absolutely blown away by The Met! If we could do it again, we’d definitely visit in the morning instead of the afternoon, there’s just so much to see, and you’ll want as much time as possible.
Getting there was super easy with the metro from downtown, and the admission price was very reasonable, worth every cent.
Coming from a family of artists (my wife is an artist and our son is currently studying art and product design), this was a must-see for us, and it did not disappoint. From contemporary names like Ursula Hauser to timeless masters like Vincent Van Gogh, the collection is simply stunning. Seeing some of these works in person was actually quite emotional.
Highly recommend adding The Met to your list, enjoy your visit, it’s truly an unforgettable experience!

Impressive reinstallation of the Rockefeller Oceania wing, and the European collection. Always excellent temporary exhibitions, photography and modern art. If you’re a “dual level” member, you can dine at the 2nd floor member lounge : great seasonal cuisine, wine, cocktails, coffee, vegetarian options, etc. Reasonable prices for delicious food and wonderful service. Highly recommended.

The art is magnificent. But I had to stand in line over 30 minutes to get my coat back. Don't go if you want to check anything.

It's not crowded, which is another great thing about this. They are adept at the technique of distributing the content evenly, allowing it to breathe and avoiding the temptation to jam as much as possible in, which was a pleasant surprise.

They have sculptures, pictures etc from all over the world.
The museum is GIANT and takes a lot of time to go through it all (you could spend 5-6 hours or so watching it) (we were 3 because we didn't have time and we were exhausted)
One of the most amazing things we saw was all the Egyptian stuff. Everything was real and they literally had the halls of the pyramids built there moved piece by piece from Egypt.
Another detail is that everything (or almost everything) was real were not replicas.
If you come soon so you can see everything.
Infinitely recommended especially if you like art and/or history

It is amazing.
Having been there for half the day and it is worth it.
The biggest surprise is I bought the ticket with half price which helped a lot with a limited budget.
I doubted at first with this discount but I entered successfully. I recommend everyone with a trip on a budget to buy this ticket which saves money.
Hope I can be here again.

A bit of Everything in one place. All history of the world Egyptian, European, Asian, American. Art of the great artists. Very busy, very noisy. I prefer quite galleries where I can enjoy the art of the greatest.

Visiting The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City with my family was an incredible experience. From the moment we walked through the grand entrance, it felt like stepping into a whole new world. The kids were fascinated by the Egyptian mummies and the massive armor displays, while we adults got lost in the galleries of European paintings and ancient artifacts.
What made the visit really special was how much there was to explore—every corner of the museum seemed to hold a new surprise. We took our time wandering through the different wings, stopping to sit and admire pieces that caught our eye, and sharing stories about the art and history with the kids. It never felt overwhelming because there’s so much variety that everyone in the family could find something they loved.
By the end of the day, we were tired but inspired. The Met isn’t just a museum—it’s a place that sparks curiosity and wonder, and it gave our family a shared experience we’ll always remember.

This museum is really amazing. The works presented are really diverse (sculptures, furniture , paintings ) the explanations are clear. Tip: to locate a work , look for it on the MET website and then match the room number using the distracted map at the entrance. Have a nice visit

Simply too much for one day. You need two to absorb it. Not many food options in the neighborhood so eat plenty before arriving. Get tickets ahead of time as the lines are NUTS.

Booking tickets online was simple, and entry was quick with minimal waiting time. The staff were courteous and guided visitors clearly to different exhibit areas.
The museum's exhibits were well curated and informative, especially the art collections and ancient artifacts. The layout made it easy to explore at your own pace.
The crowd was moderate, and visiting early in the morning helped avoid long lines. I highly recommend this museum for anyone interested in art and history.

It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful art museums in the world, which can rival the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna (the Louvre and the Hermitage being out of categories). The exhibition spaces and configuration are varied in nature and the importance of having a very available staff to navigate through this maze is quickly realised. Indeed, it is a maze. Several rooms are dedicated to generous donors whose works are grouped together. If we want to make time junctions, we have to circulate a lot. However, the essentials are presented in a chronological and classical way. Masterpieces are legion. Reasonably, and without hoping to be able to go around, you should plan 2 full days. If you do not have as much time or capacity to concentrate, prepare your visit to focus on a department, and for painting, a period, so rich is the exhibited fund.
It is essential to make at least one detour to the large terrace which offers a splendid panorama of the city. The museum has several cafeterias, the one in the basement being the most diverse in food choices. It's convenient, but it's still very expensive for what it is. Count 25 to 35€ for a modest meal and a drink.

Honestly, I'm fascinated by the sheer size of this place. I've visited this place at least a dozen times and yet I always manage to stumble on some new exhibit every single time. It's a palace of art and history. Anyone who is interested in visiting NYC has to visit the Met at least once.
Because of its popularity, it's unsurprisingly crowded. The Met opens at 10am every day of the week except for Wednesday. I would recommend getting there around 9:45am to avoid long lines. You will still wait for a few minutes, but it'll speed up. And here's my biggest tip: ORDER TICKETS ONLINE. You'd be surprised how many people and tourists cram themselves in the lobby trying to get in line for tickets. So do yourselves a favor, buy tickets in advance, get there early, and have practically the entire museum to yourself for a blissful 30 minutes before the crowd catches up.
I've also seen a lot of people pouring over maps, which are available in the lobby. You should definitely take one, but you shouldn't stress out over getting lost (unless you're on a time budget of course, but then again the Met is huge). Instead, that's the fun part of museums. You let yourself get lost and wander through the corridors looking at timeless pieces.

I made sure to arrive as soon as it opened as we were told that this museum is big and they were not wrong! It’s so big, we couldn’t find our way out, 😝 lol. that or we were so tired walking and appreciating arts that our brains stopped functioning..lol.
I am glad we went- I saw Van Gogh, Monet, Warhol and a lot, lot more.like the faberge .im like “WOW”..This things I never thought I would be able to see in my lifetime knowing my humble background .
Would I go again, probably not anytime soon, just because there’s a lot of other museums I’m wanting to visit also.
Don’t forget that there’s a student discount .

Along with the Louvre in Paris, it is one of the top three museums in the world, representing New York, or indeed the United States.
The museum houses not only American art, but also European paintings, Greek and Roman sculptures and pottery, Egyptian art, Asian art, and many other art objects.
Last time, I spent a whole day looking around to see all the exhibits, but this time I focused on European paintings (although it still took me about three hours).
It's a good idea to buy tickets online in advance (the ticket office will be crowded, but as long as you avoid it, you'll get around smoothly).
It is difficult to access by subway.

I came because of the Bank of America Museums on us program. This is a GREAT museum that you could spend a few hours or a whole day in. On a side note, there was great live music in the snack bar.

There is a lot to see and you should definitely go there. But this museum is so messy. Rooms do not connect and so you are constantly looking at your map to see which route you should walk.

We spent hours exploring this huge museum but barely scratched the surface. The audio guides were helpful, though we got a bit lost in the Egyptian wing! Special exhibition was nice but crowded. Ticket price seemed steep at first but worth it for the vast collection. Cafe was overpriced - pack your own snacks. Good for art lovers, might be overwhelming for casual visitors.

One can never be disappointed by the MET. I bought my tickets in advance and went there one morning so no or little queue:) The works on display are just exceptional and even if the Louvre remains the Number 1 for many other reasons, this morning spent in the MET remains a magnificent and very resourceful moment:)
Not to be missed for lovers of Egypt, the Temple of Isis of Dendour. The Caravaggio painting: The Musicians or the Master represented himself between 2 young musicians. The picture that all NYC students come to admire: G. Washington crossing Delaware...
The MET is an institution not to be forgotten during your stay in NYC, even if the city has an incredible number of museums!!!

This place was amazing. You would need several days to see everything. All employees were super helpful. Pricing is right. They do have coat checkin but be prepared to wait in line.

Jessie gave us a great tour of Hamilton's New York. Her knowledge of Hamilton and his life made for a wonderful afternoon

Absolutely fantastic museum with so much on offer! We attended specifically for the Superfine exhibit - I've been a long-time admirer of the Met Gala, so on our trip to NYC it felt like a must-see, and I'm so pleased we went. We had planned to spend just the morning, but the place is HUGE and since it was raining we ended up spending most of the day and still didn't get round it all. We kept finding new marvels and hidden gems around every corner. Absolutely spectacular place, we'd definitely return for more if we come back to NYC!

This museum is far better than the American museum of natural history. It seems to have more genuine artifacts. Its Egypt exhibits were my personal favorite. The museum was beautiful and had a wide range of things to see. I enjoyed it a lot and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys learning about people of the past, exploring creations of people of the past, and viewing original famous artwork. It was very exciting.

I quite enjoyed the Egyptian and blackness exhibit. I plan to go back when it's a bit quieter when I return to NY for a conference, in fact. I found the staff to be kind save one rude person in coat check. The museum was quite interested in my particular experience and gave me free admission when I return. I appreciate that but I mostly wish we could all be kinder to one another. It's not that hard.

Visited the MET for the first time with our kids. We purchased tickets online (Kids were free) with no lineup to get in on the day (we went around 10:30am). Cool museum with plenty to see, however probably more suited to those without younger kids.

This is a beautiful place with a vast array of known art pieces and obscure art pieces. Plan to spend the entire day to see it all. Don’t bring a large bag, they will not allow it. Bring a small tote or purse.

Sublime collection of American impressionists and paintings as well as Flemish Art.
Possibility to explore in the order desired because all rooms are connected to each other.
Requires minimum 5 hours to only be flown over

The visit to the MET has been a pleasant surprise. Its rooms and exhibition are incredible. As we visited it we liked it more and more, especially the part dedicated to Egypt. Definitely worth it.

One of the most beautiful museums in the world! Every time we enter, we feel breathing art and culture! We are in love with the Metropolitan

Beautiful museum in New York! MET is also a very big museum! On the day of my visit with the family I stayed for 3 hours and could not get to know even half the works! The idea is to reserve the day only to see the museum and, if you have a good physical preparation, stay at least 5 to 6 hours at least to have a better idea of the extent of the museum and its works! The museum opens at 10 o'clock and it's good to come in a little bit because they form queues! I bought my tickets by app and there are several options even with private Guide in the museum! The tickets I bought were digital by Tiqets! I had no problems! It is worth a visit! A good cultural walk!

Huge collection of art and very versatile. You should really reserve some time if you want to visit the Metropolitan. Big building with a high number of areas. Even if you don’t like museums….. you will find something that interests you.

On my first trip to NYC, I had visited the Moma. This time, I didn't want to miss the Met. My husband and I had first wandered through Central Park under the snow, full of children sledging, before reaching the museum. We spent more than 5 hours there and admired masterpieces ranging from Egyptian antiques to American furniture, Greek-Roman sculptures, European paintings, including Vermeer... You have to hang your time and that time spent at the Met, we do not regret it!

A disappointing visit. Badly signposted and the Museum Map isn’t very clear. The Museum can’t make up its mind if it wants to be the British Museum or the V&A, consequently it fails on both.

Of all main museums in New York, The Met impressed me the most. The collection is massive, one can wander through the rooms for hours and never have enough. Make sure you have plenty of time for your visit, and buy tickets in advance to avoid queues.
If for some reason your time is limited, the 19th and early 20th century European paintings collection on the 2nd floor is an absolute must. From Picasso to Monet to Cezanne to many more - not sure if there is one famous artist of this era whose works are not there.
I also recommend the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition - it tells an an amazing story. Tip: Scan the QR code right when you come to the museum to join the queue, as the waiting time can be quite long. I suppose the same works for other limited space exhibitions at The Met.
A side note: The museum shop is great:)

Amazing place. It is possible to devote the whole day to this attraction. Paintings, sculptures and special exhibitions, difficult to choose the best.

Great museum we particular enjoyed the ancient oriental exhibition areas. Was not crowded at the end of November. Unfortunately the Van Gogh had already been moved but no matter.Lots to look at.

The most beautiful and complete museum in New York, phenomenal Impressionist hall. Well organized , you can see each work quietly , the Egyptian temple reassembled in a room just for him , a tip go early avoiding the lines , a must visit if you go to New York

Our guide was great! He got us around to many of the important exhibits, and helped us with suggestions for other works of art to see after the tour was over. We will definitely use Kevin Draper for tours on our next trip to NYC!

Wonderful, great. A large selection of works that it is impossible to admire in a single day where you pass through different historical and artistic moments of humanity, both in paintings and archaeology. I definitely recommend it 100%.

That's really great. A high level art collection and above all a wide variety of environments with different characterizations.
A nice visit to spend some time on

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a must visit in New York, showcasing an incredible collection of art from around the world. Its vast exhibits and beautiful architecture make it a cultural treasure.

My son and I went to see the recent John Singer Sargent exhibition. I've been to the Met several times, but it was his first visit. The exhibition was quite crowded, as it was near the closing date, but the artwork was beautifully displayed and contextualized. The museum is gigantic and it's impossible to see everything, so choose the galleries you want to see and enjoy the delightful surprises you find on the way there.

So much to see. Don't forget to go up to the rooftop to get the most amazing views of the skyline and Central Park! Staff is very friendly

I love art and I definitely only scratched the surface during my visit. You really need to make a few difficult decisions in order to see what is important for you

A marvelous museum with amazing art installations and clear, well-organized collections. I was short on time, but you could easily spend half a day here. Food options are expensive, so bringing snacks is advisable.

It is way too big to see in an afternoon or even a day…. Try going to the met “cloisters” which is a quick subway ride away. It blew us away and is no where near as touristy….

What can I say. It was so hot in NYC that we made a trip to the Met. The museum is amazing, the building itself was unreal. It was well laid out, friendly staff during a very busy time.

When I was younger, I often went to The Met after a walk around Central Park. The Upper East Side is also nearby. After exploring this beautiful museum—which is enormous in size—you’ll feel like you’ve had more than enough strolling for the day.
어퍼이스트 사이드와 센트럴파크를 함께 구경할 수 있는 아름다운 미술관. 많이 걷지 못 하는 사람들은 미술관 구경만으로 충분히 피곤해질 수 있음에 주의

The best museum in town. It has the best arts reunited in one single place. Additionally, the temporary exhibition at the museum is very interesting as well. It's already beautiful on the outside, and even more beautiful on the inside.

A spectacular museum in New York to visit absolutely. you can see each work quietly, the important thing is to go to the opening to avoid the lines. the Egyptian temple reassembled in a hall is brilliant. The Impressionist room I loved it!!!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is handily situated near Central Park so if you're staying in the midtown area it's a definite must-see. Be prepared for a lot of walking though, this museum is HUGE!
Some folk might be put off by thinking this is just an "Art" museum but it's much more than that, spanning the world and showing off some of the most amazing historical artefacts brought together in thoughtfully laid-out galleries and displays.
We started off in the Egyptian wing which is a great introduction to the amazing size of the collection, and usually gets very busy - but start early on in the day and you'll get a head start.
There are so many photo opportunities, including a huge temple to pose against, and lots of other galleries spanning Ancient Greece, Asia and of course more 'modern' American art too.
We made a day of it, and to do this museum justice it really will take you all day as there's just so much to see. The only low point for us was the cafe, which served some pretty awful soggy sandwiches and lacklustre salads (as well as having a really narrow and busy seated area - which thankfully was well corralled by staff kicking people out who were just sitting there to use the free wi fi rather than eating food purchased at the cafe). That aside, there are tons of places to sit and take a breather (you'll need to) and plenty of water on offer to keep you going in the hot weather. Certain galleries get very very busy (the fashion wing for example had a massive queue that could've done with some timed slots rather than just the melee). There's a couple of really excellent shops inside the museum for keepsakes, so don't miss these.
A truly amazing place to visit (and not cripplingly expensive either).

Experience was very undesirable to say the least, the security and other personnel where extremely rude and obnoxious. I honestly felt as if I was being criminally profiled, I never in my life go to visit this place again in my life!

Despite the heavy traffic, the information desk was rather useful. Simply put, there is too much to see. The printed maps were not very useful, in my opinion.

Visiting The Metropolitan Museum of Art with my daughter was an unforgettable experience. The museum itself is a masterpiece from an architectural standpoint—every detail of the building is stunning, setting the tone for the incredible collections within.
We were especially captivated by the Egyptian exhibition, particularly the breathtaking Temple of Dendur. It’s awe-inspiring to see such an ancient marvel displayed so beautifully, surrounded by natural light and serene reflections.
The Impressionist exhibit was another highlight, featuring stunning works by Gauguin, Degas, and Van Gogh. Each piece seemed to transport us to another time, showcasing the brilliance and emotion of these iconic artists.
The Met is truly a treasure trove of history and art, offering something extraordinary for everyone. We can’t wait to return and explore more of its wonders!

The MET is huge! There are so many exhibition halls that it's kinda like a maze. When you visit the MET, you gotta have a map in hand. It'll mark out the most important collections, which feels a bit like a treasure hunt. But there are also lots of great things that aren't marked. Like, there are tons of Van Gogh and Monet paintings in Hall 818 on the second floor and a few adjacent halls. I was already a bit tired, but it was such a pleasant surprise when I got there. I really had my fill of Van Gogh and Monet this time. There are also works by Degas, Pissarro, Renoir, and so on... I should've done some research before coming.

Walking through the Superfine Tailoring: Black Style exhibit at the MET was such an amazing experience.
The theme perfectly highlights how clothing has always been more than just fashion, it was a form of identity, pride, and quiet resistance. What struck me most was the storytelling behind each outfit, where every detail spoke volumes about dignity, refinement, and presence.
I especially loved the section on W. E. B. Du Bois. Seeing his receipts from Newman & Son tailors, his Brooks Brothers orders, and even his laundry lists gave such an intimate glimpse into his life. Everything was worded so properly, so elegant, it really felt like stepping into the mind of a man who knew that presentation was part of his power. Du Bois wasn’t just dressing for himself, but for history, for culture, and for the global stage.
The exhibit blends fashion with narrative in a way that makes you pause and reflect. These weren’t just clothes; they were statements of sophistication, resilience, and ambition. For me, the back story behind Du Bois’s wardrobe, right down to the meticulous documentation of shirts, collars, and handkerchiefs was the highlight. It’s proof that Black style has always been deliberate, elevated, and deeply meaningful.
This was my third time at the MET but I never knew there was a rooftop with spectacular views! I managed to check it out before it closes for a major renovation, expected to reopen in 2030.
Overall, the MET never disappoints, but this exhibit felt especially unforgettable. It’s one of those rare experiences where history, art, and style come together so seamlessly that you walk away inspired and maybe even seeing fashion in an entirely new light.

I love the Metropolitan Museum. I go every time I visit New York, and try to see a different part of it. It's fascinating; it's beautifully laid out and well organised.
My big tip - research and plan your visit! It's huge - you could spend days here, so if you haven't planned what you want to see, it would be very easy to just wander around aimlessly.

I visited the Met in August to view the Sleeping Beauties exhibit. The corridor was a little tight for the amount of people. The dresses were from many different time periods. They included many Dior gowns at the end. The intricacy of the beadwork, embroidery, and unique concepts were a pleasure to behold.

Ok, I’ll give it to you New York, The Met is amazing, even though it’s not well sign posted. Actually it’s terribly sign posted. But I didn’t mind getting lost in it. The collections made it up for me. The American curator’s mind is at its best there, delivering high density of European genius painters, entire temples and tombs from around the world, designed to treat the visitor to a dessert after dessert. There is no option to doubt the curator’s intensions. The Met is here to show that you can still build a world class museum even if you are late to the game of pillaging other continents of their heritage. Just buy it from the original colonial powers. Even the coffee was surprisingly good, although the buying experience signalled that American capitalism is running out of ideas. Picture no table service, no real cups, just ordering at the till and collecting your coffee in paper cups. Simple right? Just swipe your card and you are done? Not really. Instead, when you pay you are asked if you want to leave a tip. 10, 15 or 18%. A tip for what, may I ask? For a cup of coffee in a paper cup picked up by moi? Dear European tourist. This is not an aberration. Expect that everywhere. The tip blackmail is a new way to screw the customer after the employees have been left hung out to dry – overworked, and underpaid. And no one is protesting, apart from an occasional European tourist who is surprised that the staff turn rather hostile when they realise that the optional, or rather, obligatory tip was removed from the bill . WTF?

We have visited the Met many times. Its permanent collections are vast and of the highest quality. Its temporary exhibits are usually outstanding; this time we saw one on the painting of Siena, Italy. Highest recommendation

We spent hours exploring world-class art collections. The Temple of Dendur and European paintings were highlights. The rooftop garden offered stunning Central Park views - perfect for a romantic break. Get the audio guide to fully appreciate the masterpieces.

It is not only a museum just a place of art that you can see a lot of objects for the exhibition we really enjoyed every single room

First time here. Located on the upper east side right on Central Park. HUGE museum. Massive! You could literally spend weeks in here! Highlights, for me, was the Egyptian Temple (relocated from Egypt - cool story) and some of the impressionist art. Put your walking shoes on. PLEASE note that your $30 (adult) ticket ALSO gets you into the Met Cloisters (about a 30 min train or taxi) which is unique and incredible. But you must go the same do. Do them both!

We came by for the day to look around. It was my first time but my friends had been here before. The lines for the tickets was very long so we ended up just buying the tickets online there and it was a lot faster. It was handy that they had free Wifi.
After getting the tickets in the email, we were able to just head in to the first display. There are multiple levels of things to see and the museum is segregated into different areas. This can make planning for going through the museum easier. I ended up just going floor by floor and seeing what was there.
With all the myriad of things to see, I really enjoyed the Egyptian exhibits particularly the Temple of Dendur, which was inside a huge interior space. The Greek and Roman sculptures were also quite fascinating, particularly the intricate ones carved in stone. The war area with weapons and armor was also interesting.
The paintings were located on the top floor and the main stairway from the atrium leads directly to it. The numbered room helps with traversing the enormous gallery. There were so many different paintings in the area and I really enjoyed the nature scenes. The ginormous paintings were also quite impressive and nice to look at.
It is very hard to see and admire everything in a day. I managed to see most things but I wasn't able to spend much time to take in the displays. It helped that I was there on a Friday and it was open later. I had to leave "early" (1730) for another event but otherwise might have been able to see everything in the day. Definitely, a must-do in New York and can be done over several days to make it less hectic.

Being in New York one may not give importance to this museum , however this is a must see. I could not visit this museum during my last visit to NYC and hence made it this time. The tickets are about 30$ however the experience is worth the value and time spent. Many sections to see what I loved is the Indian , Egyptian section. I could see some great art and rate idols and sculptures. Entire Egyptian Temple which was about to be be submerged because of a dam has been rebuilt here . It’s amazing.

So much artwork. It’s an amazing museum. Maybe a tour would be best for future visits. Definitely need to take breaks and be selective about what to see each visit.

All the best of what you would expect from Met.
Know what you are going for and mark them as favourites in the app to track, otherwise a whole day may not be enough to cover everything.

It was fantastic..
............................................. ......
I suggest everyone to visit
Magnificent.

Its an amazing museum, it surprises me! I totaly recommend to visit it when in New York City. It's mandatory place to visit.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is renowned not only for its extensive art collection but also for its spectacular architectural features. The museum showcases a blend of classical and modern architectural styles, captivating visitors. In terms of its collection, the museum boasts over two million art pieces spanning 5,000 years, including ancient Egyptian artifacts, medieval armor, European master paintings, and modern art, highlighting the essence of global cultural and artistic achievements.

We spent hours wandering the Met's halls, mesmerized by the sheer volume and diversity ò art. From ancient Egyptian tombs to modern masterpieces, it's a whirlwind! The vibrant atmosphere was buzzing, but sometimes felt a bit like Grand Central Station. We appreciated the educational tidbits sprinkled throughout, though we didn't have time for any programs. Overall, a must-see for the experience, but be prepared to feel overwhelmed (in a good way... mostly).

While in New York City recently, my husband and I visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It had been too many years since our last visit there. There was a special exhibit of many works by John Singer Sargent. He is known for his portraits and we were thrilled to see so many. There were some other paintings that we also enjoyed of his, including one of The Alhambra.
Because the Impressionists are our favorite painters, we wandered into that area also. Many Monets , Renoirs, Manets, Cezanne’s and Van Goghs were able to be viewed to our delight in the Annenberg Collection.
Our time to spend at The Metropolitan Museum was shorter than we wanted, but we did enjoy lunch at The Petrie Court Cafe!

Spectacular museum, where there is everything: from the choir door of Valladolid Cathedral (which knows how you would get here), to a huge collection of Egyptian art, Greek and Roman sculptures from all eras and a collection of paintings where all schools and eras are represented. It's hard to find a lack. To go with time.

I visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art during my trip to NYC, and it was definitely one of the highlights. The collection is absolutely massive – from ancient Egyptian artifacts to European paintings, Asian art, and even fashion exhibits. There’s something for everyone here.
The building itself is beautiful and well maintained, and the staff were helpful and polite. I especially loved the Temple of Dendur and the impressionist gallery. You could easily spend a whole day here and still not see everything.
The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because it can feel a bit overwhelming and crowded, especially on weekends. Also, the layout can be confusing at times, and the signage isn’t always clear.

It deserves a whole day to see the most important things, I recommend the Egypt section very complete and for fans the original music section. Convenient to join the free route available with English guide

This was my first time visiting the Met and it was such an emotional and beautiful experience. Huge museum, a few different spots to eat, plenty of restrooms and gift shops. The rich history within the walls of this museum is just jaw dropping and beyond what I was expecting. Get your tickets and experience for yourself, you will be glad you did.

This place is massive. There is no way you could see everything in 1 day. The painting gallery alone would take a whole day. So much history in this building from ancient Egypt all the way up to modern day. What a place!

Great place to enjoy art. The collection is amazing. A person needs more than one day to cover the museum if you like art. I will visit again when in the area. Friendly environment to people with disabilities.

Absolutely amazing. Well worth a visit. Spent all afternoon here. Such interesting art pieces. And such a great location.

I can't keep waiting to get there and I have to take every opportunity to walking Around there, how about the place if I can come over with my friend together

Magnificent, even if you're not an amateur. It is certainly one of the “reference” museums. Allow a lot of time, it is immense and you will quickly be captivated.

No superlative that could qualify this extraordinary place. We took a very informative guided tour and were then able to go into the rooms as we pleased. 3 hours are not enough but necessary to see a minimum of great works. Fabulous.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art featured the career of John Singer Sargeant, from his late teens to middle age in Paris, while we were there. He is most known for his infamous portrait of “Madame X” that was scandalous as it showed her bare shoulders and deep “V” bodice. He later added chain shoulder straps to soften the image for public viewing. Sargeant was a contemporary of all the great painters of that period and painted Van Gogh, Monet, and others while they were painting and/or his representations of their art forms. Additionally, there was signature clothing by Black artists on display in another gallery as well as the Met’s exposure of their permanent collection. We spent a minimum of three hours there and wished that we had more time to spare; but we were scheduled to see a matinee performance that afternoon. All of us were enthusiastic about our visit to the MET! We heartily recommend the Met to you as it never ceases to amaze, whether it be the Temple of Dendur, its Middle East collection or any of its galleries. Enjoy.

THE MET is a very important and popular museum in New York. There, is possible to see from the ancient history of the Egyptians to the beauty of Picasso and Van Gogh paintings. Apart from the paintings and sculptures there is a beautiful shop where they sell characteristic and unique things that represent 100% what is exhibited in the museum.

It is not very easy to navigate between the floors and the various areas you risk losing your mind.
for lovers of everything, a whole day is not enough to visit it.
I went mostly to see the works of Monet and Van Gogh and found what I expected with other surprises

My visit to the MET was the highlight of my four day trip to nyc and genuinely the best museum I have ever been too. I live in London so have been to a lot of amazing museum however the MET honestly has something special to offer. Lots of both modern and older/more classical art on display (even some medieval stuff!). Museum is huge and the only thing regret about my visit is not allowing myself enough time to fully explore the museum - I only spend three hours there and I would say ideally I needed at least double that. the best part of my trip of the "sleeping beauties reawakening fashion" exhibit - very unique and brilliantly designed.

My husband, daughter (15), and I spent a few hours at The Met and loved it. There is so much to see, I know we didn’t see it all. There is a wide range of exhibits and art styles. All three of us would visit again and recommend allowing at least three hours minimum for your visit.

There are tons of exhibits here and lots to see. Figuring out what to see was the most difficult part. This museum needs multiple visits.

A must visit , there are a lot of animals, especially the dinosaurs 🦕
Beautiful exhibits.
Be sure to buy tickets in advance and come early in the morning.

Great museum! You need at least one full day to get to see everything, but the good news is that with the day pass, you can get in and out of the museum, so it is possible to have lunch outside and then come back to see the rest of the exhibitions

I always like to travel and visit Art galleries and museums, very nice space and good atmosfera. I really enjoy this experience.

A Dream!! Absolutely to do with a certain organization, it is so big that otherwise it would just be a lot of confusion. Select the areas of your interest and reluctantly leave out the others

We visited the Harlem Renaissance exhibit: a wonderful collection of paintings from the 1920’s. Vibrant colors and interesting history.
Absolutely worth seeing!

Loved the Met first of all is an iconic building which has been tastefully modernised and looks great throughout. Secondly the art and artefacts housed in the Met are fascinating and often beautiful. Many very old attracts such as pots that are thousands of years old. Egyptian, Roman and Greek items are on display with many sculptures and reliefs. With, American and Indian art in display. World class

one of the most prestigious and visited museums in the world. Located on Fifth Avenue in New York, it houses an impressive collection spanning more than 5,000 years of art history.
Positive opinions:
✅ Incredibly rich collections: The MET has works of art from all eras and cultures (Egyptian, Greek, Roman, European, Asian, American...).
✅ Diversity of exhibitions: Paintings by masters such as Rembrandt and Van Gogh, ancient sculptures, medieval armour, African and Asian art, etc.
✅ A beautiful setting: The building itself is a work of art, with superb rooms and a terrace offering magnificent views of Central Park.

I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the MET) again in November 2024. I visit here every year. It is a massive museum and maybe the best museum in the world. I recommend that you plan out your visit in advance based on your interests. You will not be able to see everything. I also recommend that you buy your tickets on-line and in advance and get here early (before 10 am). This time I visited the following: Impressionist paintings, sculptures (Auguste Rodin), Courtyard and Cafe, George Washington Crossing the Delaware, Chinese Art, Japanese Art, special exhibit Siena 1300-1350. The other area I like is European paintings 1300 - 1800 which I will do next time. The main gift shop is also nice. My visits to the MET usually last around 4 hours.

The Met is a must-visit while you're in NYC. It's a world-class museum that is always beautifully laid out. When we visited, ancient Egyptian artifacts and stunning European paintings were on display. They also had a display for the Harlem Renaissance. Honestly, the building is too expansive for you to even get to it all. You'd have to devote an entire day to cover the whole thing.
Walking through the galleries, you can explore the wonders of different cultures. Expect HUGE crowds. Buy your tickets online in advance for ease of entry. Get a guide, and an audio guide to enhance the visit & make it make more sense. You don't have to be an art enthusiast or history buff to enjoy The Met. The architecture of the building's exterior make it another experience. Highly recommended!

The Michael C. Rockefeller Wing is an exceptional exhibit of arts from across Africa and Oceana. Many of the Treasures have never been seen before and add to the already wonderful collection at the Met.

Huge place and beautiful building. This houses some of the best paintings in the world and to see them in real life is special. You could easily spend a day here.

I explored The Metropolitan Museum of Art with my friends, and it was incredible. From ancient Egyptian temples to Van Gogh’s masterpieces, every corner offered something new to admire. The collection is massive, and we felt like we traveled across time and cultures in just one day. Truly unforgettable!

I have been wanting to go here for years and finally got the chance. My nephew who lives in NYC used his membership to get me in free and gave me the Grand Tour. What an impressive museum!! One could spend days here and not see it all. Being familiar with the museum, my nephew was able to lead me directly to the highlights and a few other areas I wanted to see. The Egyptian exhibit was fascinating as were all the famous artist's exhibits. To actually see Van Gogh's self portrait and others in real life is eye opening. I will definitely visit here again!

The metropolitan museum is absolutely awe inspiring. It has everything from ancient art - including Egyptian and Greek to the European masters and Modern art. I spent a few hours here but one can very easily spend several days here.

I wanted to see the red carpet stairs where all the celebrities are pictured for the "Met Gala", but there was no red carpet. The stairs were just hard concrete(?). Slightly disappointing, but still pretty iconic. My favorite part was the first floor Greek and Roman art. We were shocked that all the male statues had been "dismembered". Couldn't find a single intact "banana" anywhere!

I love the Met, but their coat check is the WORST! It took 20 minutes to drop off the caats and 20 minutes to pick them up. This is a total waste of time, and it's not like the entrance is cheap, either

We had a few hours to spend here. NOT ENOUGH TIME, though we knew we would barely make a dent in viewing and experiencing this huge HUGE museum.
Come with a plan, we hadn't. Saw some treasures just wandering around. It's large, super large and we literally became lost.
Definitely on our list for a return visit!

The Met App is the way to go to get advanced tickets – very easy, very expedient. We entered the museum just after the 10 AM opening, and even then, the line to get in was a hundred feet long on either side of the door. Galleries are crowded; when we left early afternoon, the floorscape had become a sea of customers waiting in long lines to get into each exhibition. Go early. Use the app!

Amazing museum with a lot to see.It was very crowded during the Christmas day.great experience. worth a visit while in new York city.

What a wonderful building with billions of dollars of contents. There is so much to see and it is impossible to do it justice in a day. We focussed on two exhibitions: Sienna - The Rise of Painting, and the European paintings.

The Met is absolutely incredible! The sheer variety of art and artifacts from around the world is mind-blowing. I could’ve spent days exploring. Highlights were the Egyptian Temple of Dendur and the Impressionist paintings. It’s a must-visit for any art or history lover!

The museum is huge, I stayed there for more than 3 hours and could have stayed there 3 hours more.
It’s important to identify the rooms you want to visit in advance if you want to save time.

A great museum with so much to see! We paid for a 2 hour tour then wandered around ourselves and had a great time. Lots to see and offered a wide range of sights. There is also a very large gift shop!

A great gathering of many beautiful artworks from famous painters like Van Gogh or Claude Monet. The best museum I’ve ever been to, as someone who loves art. The perfect composition of world’s best paintings. I would recommend spending 2-3 hours in there.

I had never seen the Met so crowded during this time of the year. Normally the tourists are gone but with the start of the Lunar New Year, the Met had all sorts of special events to celebrate the holidays.
I had gotten there rather late in the afternoon and the museum was already mobbed with people. I have never seen the Asian galleries so packed with people taking walking tour and listening to talks on the art.
A Fan Dance was so packed just with the line that it stretched into the Egyptian galleries. I had to bypass that and went to the American Wing to hear the Peter Lin band perform Asian Jazz music. That was wonderful.
The free concert went on for a little over an hour and they a lot of classic Shanghai music from the Jazz era. It was a wonderful concert.
After the show, I wondered through the Asian Galleries, listening to the docents talks and admiring the art of the region. They had all sorts of arts and crafts for the kids and activities for the family. What I loved was the entrance welcomed everyone for the new year with signs and beautiful cherry blossoms. The museum really had some great activities that day.

My family and I loved the Met!! The manner in how the art exhibits really adds to the experience and gives value to the amazing pieces. I wanted to share that Brenda at the front desk was such a delight. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and could tell she loves the museum. Thanks!

Great experience and a lot to see. Parking was easy to get too. If you’re going in the winter time and you’re from out of town there’s a place for you to put your jacket and I did not know this. However great place

Bellissimo. Some floors have paths that are not easy to follow due to the lack of a set tour, because of what the visitor wanders from one room to another a little disoriented. The audio guide has very few listening points in languages other than English (at most a hundred) compared to about 2000 in English.... to be improved!

11 April 2025 booked a 2 hour tour at Walks(green). Was well in time but guide arrived just in time (with the list) There were several groups - we all still had to be assigned.
Our guide Stephane was inspired - he knew a lot. We have seen the whole first Floor (Egyptian art) and also many paintings on the second. Then we had some food -(expensive-like everything in New York)
Turkey sandwich with chicken salad.
Your ticket at the Met is valid for several days (2or 3) can't remember exactly.
But 1 day is not enough to see all 6 floors. We paid $63.30 per person, for the tour. A separate ticket is €30 (€22 for senior citizins)

Huge museum, you would need more than 1 full day to visit everything. We tried egyptology, roman sections, as well as Asia and America. We skipped the European paintings. There is interesting for everybody. Disappointed however by the way the collections are presented. Especially the American aisle is not well organized. There are collections of furniture without any selection, explanation, looks more like a warehouse than a museum.

The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of drinking fountains. I was so thirsty, and asked a docent where the nearest water fountain was. I was in the European Art section at the time, in the 8xx rooms. It seemed I walked a mile to get to the only water fountains on the 2nd floor, and then they didn't work! There were a pair outside the restrooms, but the water just dribbled out so that it was impossible to drink. You might expect that every set of restrooms would have a water fountain nearby, but that is not the case. So be prepared. Other than that, the museum is great.

Many interesting paintings and artifacts here. Favorite was Washington Crossing the Delaware, don't miss that one! Good collection of sculptures as well. Arms and armory section is also a hidden gem. You can see all the highlights in 2-3 hours but if you really like museums you could easily spend all day in here.

Incredible collections, impossible to see in one visit. Choose what you want to see, otherwise it is really too much to take in.

Choosing what to see in this huge museum is not easy at all. In fact, you have to calmly visit everything...but really everything. The necessary time: superficial visit 4 hours, deepened at least twice

Take your breath away, a marvel. I loved everything, with maps, easy to find your way around, a lot of people, this year's exhibition was excellent. You have to stand in a virtual line

What can I add other than to note that, like the Louvre, do NOT attempt to do this in a day. Pick a theme, follow it through and then come back another day for another part of the collection. I do recommend and frequently go back to the section on American art as it is an interesting collection of art, furniture and other objects along with some very interesting complete room interiors from old American homes - including a fascinating Frank Lloyd Wright living room.

We have visited other renowned museums around the world. This one delighted us very much! It was an experience of pure BLISS. Not to be missed!

We visited as a group of three friends, towards the end of a Saturday in August.
It was the first visit for one of us and the second visit for two of us.
Everything was exceptional and exactly what you’d expect from a globally renowned museum.
There is a LOT to see, and if you don’t want to have overwhelm and miss something, maybe check out the different exhibit areas online first, decide which are your “must do” ones, and then anything after that take as a bonus, rather than committing yourself to something that might become overload rather than enjoying the displays.
Well worth the time and the money.

The Met is more than just a museum — it’s a time machine. From the Gandhara Buddhas to intricate Chinese bronzes and delicate porcelain, every gallery tells a story across time and continents. I especially loved the Buddhist art collection — the detail and serenity in each piece are breathtaking.
The curation is thoughtful, and the lighting really brings out the textures of each artifact. Whether you’re into Asian art, European masters, or ancient Egyptian relics, this place has something that’ll leave you in awe.
Give yourself at least half a day. Entry is donation-based for NY residents, which is a huge plus.
Highly recommend for art lovers, history buffs, and anyone who just wants to wander somewhere beautiful.

Obviously, the art in this museum deserves 5 stars, but it's just so busy and difficult to navigate. My favorite part is the Chinese garden court, which is a small piece of calm.

I believe it's greater than british museum in london. In terms of the size and diversity of arts in NYC where the most expensive place in the world is.
Here is an example photo of the arts...
dunno how to attach a photo...:(

The MET is truly among the best museums I’ve ever visited. You’ll find information, artifacts, images, and objects from every era and corner of the planet, making it an endlessly fascinating place. Unfortunately, I had to rush through because of a busy schedule in New York, but it was still an unforgettable experience. I’ll definitely return and dedicate an entire day to exploring this remarkable museum.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is incredible. With a vast collection from around the world, highlights include the Egyptian artifacts and European paintings. The museum is well-organized, and the rooftop garden offers great city views. A must-see in NYC!

The art in this museum is wonderful.
The museum itself is run for the benefit of its staff and directors. The paying customers are not important.
Short opening hours. Terrible food. Unclean toilets. Frequent closures of galleries at short notice. Nowhere to sit down. Cloakrooms with attitude. Bad labelling. Endless parading of the management’s political and cultural opinions. Staff who don’t like the paying visitors and regard them as an inconvenience.

While the ticket must be purchased long before your visit, you can purchase it at the box office. The truth is that if you want to enjoy the museum completely if you must devote half a day at least, since it has a huge collection of works from different times. Don't miss out on your next visit to New York!

Brilliant day out, so much to see. You can easily spent all day in here and still want to come back for more. 100% recommend.

With its vast collection spanning 5,000 years of art, there's something for everyone. The Egyptian Art collection and the European Paintings galleries are particularly impressive. The museum is well-curated and offers a wonderful escape into the world of art. Highly recommended!

Wow. We loved this museum. It was worth every penny of the ticket price. It's not a good place for small children, but any age from 10 and up can appreciate the outstanding collection of art works from around the globe and throughout human history. The MET is a national treasure.

This museum is wonderful. I recommend getting tickets in advance and arriving at least 20 minutes before opening to get in line, even on a weekday. I would hate to see what it is like on a weekend. The line is the same whether you have tickets or not, but if you have tickets you don't have to wait in an additional line inside. If possible, try to plan your visit in advance so you are sure to have time to see what you want. My favorites were the Impressionist Paintings and the American works. We also liked the Arms and Armor and Musical Instruments, as well as the French furnished rooms - not sure which part of the museum that was but it was wonderful. I have been here twice and still would like to return - there is just so much to see.

On the website, it talks about Friday and Saturday night "date night". You still pay the $30.00 entry fee, but there were supposed to be drink and food specials and music. We got to the rooftop 30 minutes after the event started and the bar tender told us they were already out of the BOGO wine special. So we paid $16.00 for a mediocre glass of wine. The food "specials" were things like party mix. The party mix was $8.00 and not a lot of it. There was no music. We had gotten to the museum 3 hours earlier to see all the wonderful art, which we enjoyed. But when the museum is pushing a "date night" they really should try harder. We liked the museum but found "date night" to be extremely lacking.

We go to New York every three years and start our trips through the USA here. A visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a must. We keep discovering new exhibits. After all, the museum manages 3 million objects that are exchanged - such a great "treasure." We love Flemish painters as well as Renaissance painting, basically the period between the 14th century. ==References== ==References== There are also very beautiful bronze sculptures in the museum. The Fabergé exhibition, the knight's armour and the Egypt section are excellent. Sunshine on the rooftop terrace gives you a very nice view of Central Park and the new narrow Skyscrapers near 57th Street (Beautiful Photo Subjects). After 5.5 hours of interesting hours we left the museum. A visit is always highly recommended.

The museum is incredible, too beautiful and being close to the central park also worth taking a walk through the region, which is very safe and beautiful.

Wonderful museum!! I went midweek in December so it wasn't too crowded. It's a fantastic experience! I spent 7 hours in there and still didn't see everything! I would look at a map and prioritize! Also, there are free guided tours throughout the day that are included with your ticket. I enjoyed the highlights tour and learned some new things along the way! A great way to learn new things about certain collections you're interested in!

Incredible! We were not prepared for the size of this museum. We went to see a specialty exhibit then walked around for three hours. We came no where near seeing the entire museum. Every time we took a break to eat or go to the bathroom we would walk through areas we had never seen. We ate at the Great Hall Balcony cafe which was just right for a quick break and a snack (securing a table took some work). If you only have one opportunity to go make sure you know what you want to see and go their first. The specialty exhibit was very crowded but most other exhibits allowed for crowds to spread out.

On May 27 I took a guided tour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Tour guide Ryan focused on the Egyptian Collection which is of the best in the entire world. His favorite exhibits were Egyptian but he was knowledgeable on Greek and Roman art. I highly recommend this tour !

MET is no longer world-class. Not on par with French, German, or British museums.
Used to be my favorite museum of history.
The Mesopotamian (Near East) wing has been closed for years and counting (4+). I come here for that wing mostly, and most of the staff said it will remain closed for several additional years due to major renovations and upgrades in their room. Other staff, along with posters, said it is projected to reopen in 2026. We were eager to see the magnificent Sumerian-Assyrian/Babylonian section!
I wish they stated on their website that the Near East, among several other wings, were closed. I wouldn't have booked tickets for my group.
The ticket costs have gone up significantly. A quarter of the museum, particularly the Near East floor (half of it), was closed. The experience wasn't as organized and relaxing as in years past.
HOWEVER, it gets much worse:
Once you step onto the 3rd floor of the Near East, you'll notice a historically and archeologically-deprived map of the ancient world. This map was not here just a few years ago, nor in years past. You will not see any ancient city/nation listed on the map, ironically. You will find Mesopotamia (modern day Syria/Iraq/SE Turkey/NW Iran) superseded by "curdistan," a nomadic, Iranic people from central Iran. There is 0 historical, archeological, or scientific evidence of these Iranian peoples having any roots in what is universally known as Mesopotamia. Not by any source. Not in any time. Not in antiquity, nor in present day. This poor attempt at a historical map has indelibly changed my view of this museum, along with the museum's curators and directors.
Perhaps the current ME conflicts have galvanized the Jewish community to further their Iranic-kurd ally's ambition of expansionism and encroachment upon indigenous peoples lands. Firmly planting other foreigners who ally with Israel (kurds) in indigenous peoples lands (Assyrians, and lesser extent Armenians and Arabs) on a map in one of the largest historical museums is sheer REVISIONISM. Most importantly, the kurds do not have historical, scientific, or archeological evidence on their side; and again, is this not a Museum of History?
Photos of disgraceful map and information attached.
Near East (Mesopotamia) tentatively closed until 2026.\

We went on a day the museum was open late so we got a good 8 hours. I love that you can leave and return on the same day. We also went to the rooftop with such a great view.

Visited for the first time with my nephew and he loved it- especially Egyptian area. Parked in attached parking garage which was ideal during busy holiday period. Easy entrance and access to buy tickets from garage entry. American wing cafe is in a nice central location for a break, albeit with overpriced items.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art impresses with its stunning architecture and diverse collection spanning international artists. We found the facilities well-maintained and accessible. The Met offers a comprehensive art experience, highly recommended for those seeking cultural immersion.

You need 2 to 3 days to see everything. We spent our time in Contemporary and European Art. Would have loved to had time for American Art and Egypt. Rooms are large enough to see the art. Staff is helpful and friendly. Cafe was decent. Rooms are adequately marked to find each room easily. Be sure to keep your ticket if you use paper. It’s very easy to accidentally exit and have to get back in and need your ticket.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC is a must-visit! With its vast collection spanning thousands of years, there's something for everyone. From ancient artifacts to modern masterpieces, each exhibit is meticulously curated. The building itself is stunning, and the rooftop views are a bonus. It's easy to spend hours here, and still want to return for more.

I had a really bad experience at the MET today. I entered at 4 PM and paid $30, but no one at the ticket counter or entrance informed us that the museum closes at 5 PM. I basically paid $30 for just one hour inside. That’s really unfair – if not outright deceptive – for such a world-famous museum. Clear communication with visitors should be the minimum standard.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, or The Met, is one of the most impressive and expansive art museums in the world. Great experience

The MET was a joy, wonderful displays, so much to see and admire! I came when it opened on a Tuesday and there were long lines already waiting outside in the rain, and the bag storage lines were too long, I took my backpack with me but it became so heavy!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a treasure trove of culture and history. The diverse collection spans centuries and continents, with something for everyone. Highlights include the Egyptian artifacts, European masterpieces, and the stunning Costume Institute. The museum is well-organized, and the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Plan to spend several hours here to fully appreciate the vast array of exhibits.

Probably the largest and they most wow collection of art and archeology displays anywhere in the world. Am glad we budgeted a lot of time for it. To do it one day could be a bit overwhelming, and so not advisable for true art fans. Worth every cent of the fee.

An incredible museum with a vast collection of art. Highly recommend using MembershipAnywhere's digital membership card for easy access!

More modern art than you can throw a stick at. I did throw a stick into the corner of an empty room and now it’s heralded as the most exciting piece of modern art this century.

The Met is one of the world’s greatest museums. It contains innumerable masterpieces from around the world. It holds up to multiple visits there is so much to see. The location overlooking Central Park is also amazing.

Great experience, diverse and interesting art, spacious and welcoming. A must-do for everyone with even a passing interest in art.

The Metropolitan Museum is one of my favorite museum in the world now. I saw a lot of great works and actually took a long time to see all of them because every work has a story. Highly recommended

With only a few days to spend in New York, The Met was one attraction on our must do list. To do the place justice you need to spend a day to see all that is on offer however we unfortunately only had three hours which went quickly. Quite simply the place is massive. Once you get through the normal bag checking you have the option to either buy a ticket at the counter or scan the QR code to pay via your mobile device. Navigating the complex was not all that easy and a lack of clear signposting to various displays was a little frustrating. That said we enjoyed our visit and would recommend it to those who have an interest in art throughout the ages.

For lovers of art museums in the United States, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is a must, along with the National Gallery in Washington D.C. and the Kimbell Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. My husband and I visited the Met for the Caspar David Friedrich exhibition. Getting to the museum by subway was fairly easy (with the help of some friendly locals who pointed us in the right direction). The museum itself can be overwhelming. We spent about three hours there, although we could easily have stayed the entire day. It was interesting to see art students with their easels copying masterpieces. I would like visit again and see some of the masterpieces we missed, such as John Singer Sargent's Madame X and The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai. There is so much to see that if I lived in the city I would probably pace myself and do one gallery each visit so I could really absorb the art contained in each section. One giant plus is there are several dining venues in the museum so whenever hunger strikes or you simply need a break, there are multiple options.

Spent almost five hours exploring The Met and could have spent many more hours taking it all in. There was so much to see - a huge range of incredible, world-class art. I will definitely go back next time we're in New York.

It was crowded, finding restroom is very difficult, unfortunately the Iran hall was closed and the said it will not open until 2026. The Egypt and Roman hall were good. It worth if you wanna see for the first time.

Very nice museum with varied Collections. Also beautiful exhibition of statues on the roof garden with nice views.
Definitely worth a visit.

The art is incredible, and there is such a range of things to see. However we were very unhappy with the American Wing Cafe inside. It is extremely expensive ($7 for a no-refill filter coffee!), loud, and although it was self-service we were still charged 15% service charge. Considering that tickets are so expensive already in the museum, to pay so much for mediocre food in plastic containers is not right. We felt very ripped off. Therefore, I would advise NOT to eat here, but the museum itself was incredible.

Really fun, and takes up a good bit of time. Definitely got lost a few times, but that certainly added to the experience! There was so much to see, and I had a wonderful time overall.

The museum is enormous and requires a bit of a touring plan or focus as you could be there all day. Staff/volunteers were extremely helpful with maps and information. We only had a few hour window so focused on the Egyptian and Armoury exhibits as well as the 19th and early 20th century European Paintings. We stumbled upon a young man who was sitting on the floor infront of a large painting and explained he was part of the 8 week Copyist Program at the Met that allows artists to sit in galleries during certain days and times to copy/paint works of art to improve their own techniques. It was a neat opportunity to watch him paint.
We did not know which day we wanted to go to the Met so did not buy tickets in advance and thought we would just purchase upon entry. The admission line was very long so we purchased tickets online with the Met’s free wifi while waiting in line which saved us a bunch of time. Recommend buying tickets in advance, even if just minutes before you arrive.

Used to be my favorite museum of history.

We had to visit the Met, it’s a must-see in NYC. We’ve always seen the Met Gala, but we never got a chance to check it out in person. This time, it was at the top of our list. It’s a huge place, so don’t rush. Take your time to explore all the art. They have some famous pieces, so make sure to mark them on your map and check them out!

Metropolitan Museum of Art is absolutely stunning with its vast collection, beautiful architecture, and inspiring exhibitions. I could spend hours exploring and still discover something new. Truly a 5-star experience!

We love to visit, who loves history and art without a doubt this is the place where you have a view of various countries and epochs. It needs at least two hours of your time, has a beautiful area of food and cohabitation, but during the visit there are almost no places to sit in the case of the elderly. But it's worth it.

Immersed in art, emotion, sensation, culture, history, design, taste ... the only condition is to go without time.

A day is not enough to visit a museum that certainly competes with louvre and hermitage.
The Egyptian, Greek and Roman sections are splendid; too bad for the Middle Eastern one in the process of being redesigned.
The only drawback: the layout of the huge art gallery that does not seem to facilitate the visit

Loved our visit to the Met. This place is huge so if this is your first visit set reasonable expectations. Highlights for our family of 4 (ages 2 parents 54, 20, and 17) included the Temple of Dendur, the American Wing, and the Caspar David Friedrich exhibition

I was in town with some friends, and this is normally one of our favorite stops. It’s so fun to see all the new art and life in New York City. Growing up in the city and now moving away has me have a deeper appreciation and understanding of all the things that I once loved so much.
It’s so lovely getting to breathe in the culture and feel a part of something bigger than yourself. Living in the suburbs now I feel like I need trips like this more now than ever and places and spaces like this.

Art Historian, def. - Knows everything of history, nothing of art. Hadn't been to the MET since the 2023 reorganizing of European paintings. A mental conceit of chaotic hubris- all theory with little artistry of presentation. Cezanne next to Picasso surrounded by El Greco. What? I stopped reading the room captions as being so naive unto the giggles. At least Rembrandt has a room to himself.

Walking around and watching, there's a lot on display and tickets aren't cheap.
It's a little distance from downtown Manhattan, ideal for exploring with Central Park.
Ideal for planning a full day tour

worth seeing because of the Egyptian exhibition alone. there is endless to discover.
a tip at the edge, to drive into the 5 stock miz dem, since ed gives a magnificent view.

I was able to get into The Met pretty quickly, despite the big crowds. By waiting an hour after they opened, I missed all the busses of students ahead of me. I loved the paintings and statues best. It takes about 2 hours. Take your time or breeze through the areas that might not interest you. The Met is a must see.

This was my list of must-see:
1. Egyptian temple
2. Washington at the Delaware
3. Bronzino -3 masks never reproduced
4. Gallery 759 - the ox bow, Thomas Cole
5. Ionic column
6. Gallery 154 statue of Kouros
7. Gallery 165 - boscoreale frescoes
8. Astor Chinese garden gallery 217
9. Van Gogh room -822
10. Rooftop garden room
11. Studio ducal palace gallery 501
12. Perseus with the head of Medusa
13. Picasso 830 gallery
14. Vermeers - 964
Tips:
1. Wear comfortable shoes
I saw. We had fun. My feet hurt!

The Met is worth all the money spent x visit it but you have to plan well in advance what you want to see because it is very vast and you risk getting tired. That said the work x I went to was obviously on loan for an exhibition in Europe so I had to console myself with other beautiful works including many paintings by Impressionists.

Omg what a huge museum, maybe the biggest in NY city. You can spend all day and can not finish whole sections. Maybe you can go for 2 days. It deserves its price.

We spent a magical afternoon exploring the Met's vast collections. The Egyptian wing was particularly fascinating, and the rooftop garden offered stunning Central Park views. Plan at least 4 hours here - we could have stayed longer! The Temple of Dendur at sunset created the perfect romantic atmosphere. Worth every penny of the suggested admission.

The rich history behind the exhibits was impressive, but we found it a bit overwhelming. While we enjoyed some pieces, navigating the vast collection felt like a marathon. It’s worth a visit

Maybe because it’s Christmas but the place was crowded and sometimes hard to navigate but it was so worth it. For Seniors it 22 bucks that are made worth it just by seeing the Black Egypt Artist Exhibit. You need to get there early and spend an entire afternoon- from paintings and artwork that inspires to works of art that take your breath away- and admission is good for both places.

The Medici display was intriguing, despite a lot of speculation about the describers. The views from the roof display are amazing, but it's not worth the effort because there's just one object.

It's impossible to see everything on your first visit. I couldn't, no matter how hard I tried. Instead, I focused on one floor and one section, then spent time browsing the MET stores. The stores were placed near exhibits and had themes—for example, you could find Egyptian-inspired jewelry and books near the Divine Egypt exhibit. Loved the beauty of the museum's architecture and the art. I look forward to visiting NY again to pick up where I left off.

You can spend as much or as little time here as you want. You can skim exhibits and see a lot in 2 hours. It’s incredible and worth it!

Centuries of beauty—each gallery a new chapter in our story. from ancient armor to van gogh’s brushstrokes, the met dazzled us.

Self guided tour. Saw half the exhibits in half a day. The popular areas were a bit crowded, but many areas had a manageable number of people. Wonderful overview of many different art forms. Deep dives into art that was interesting to us.
Only areas that were crowded were the restaurants! Finally able to sit down without a long wait at 3:30!
Overall, well worth the cost of admission.

Calling it a museum is simplistic... a veritable American institution.
So vast that a single day is not enough to see it all.
Worth a visit, Recommendation to organize and decide a priori on what to stop to create a path to follow

It’s a huge museum with an amazing collection of art. Our tour guide Susan was kind, informative and a good sport with our silly jokes and shenanigans. You could spend a week here. It was amazing.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a true treasure trove of human creativity.
Each room, each work of art tells a story that transcends time.
From classic masterpieces to modern expression — The Met inspires, enriches and connects cultures worldwide.
A visit to this museum is not a trip, it is a journey through the soul of humanity.
Long live The Met — an icon of art, knowledge and beauty!

Impressive in both its architecture and its varied collection of works by foreign painters is the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The facilities were clean and easily accessible, in our opinion. For those looking to fully immerse themselves in culture, the Met provides an extensive art experience that is highly recommended.

To see the art was a wonderful experience. We were only there for a few hours so of course we could really only scratch the surface because there is so much to see. The wait time to get in was not long.
I will say, the staff were extremely rude to visitors which made everyone in the lines and surrounding areas feel unwelcomed and uncomfortable being there. There is no need for such aggression towards guests. At the entrance there was a man yelling at people who were trying to come in telling them they couldn't stand there. Upon entrance the security was very rude to the people who were in line. When we approached the ticket area to buy our tickets the staff was aggressive and rude to the guests which really kind of put a damper on things from the beginning. No one wants to see people being mistreated or yelled at. No need for that. Our group saw all the NYC tourist sites and we were welcomed with open arms and friendliness everywhere else. It was just, unpleasant around staff. If you are planning to go just be aware of that.

The best. I try to visit every time I’m in New York and I don’t think I’ve seen it all yet! The entrance lobby is always crowded but most of the rest of the museum is not so you will have plenty of room to enjoy the most wonderful art museum in the country.
I think the museum’s strengths are many but maybe the European and American decorative arts collections and the period rooms are where this museum really stands out from the other American general art museums. The depth and quality in decorative arts is really unmatched.
The nineteenth century galleries are also amazing - room after room of Cezanne, Manet, Gauguin, Monet. It’s just amazing. Masterpieces abound. If you go to museums often, you’ll appreciate how special these galleries are. Same with the early Netherlandish galleries - nothing else as good in America really.
And the Islamic art collection is really unique in an American museum. There are others. Some are good (Washington and Los Angeles) but this one is by far the best.

We went to view the "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" exhibition. It was beautiful. We went on a Monday so it was not too crowded. Buy your tickets online, it's much better and faster than at the museum.

We truly enjoyed our visit to the MET! We spent five hours there, and it still wasn’t enough time to explore all the wings. Even our seven and thirteen-year-old enjoyed their visit. We picked up some beautiful trays from the gift shop, and they were carefully wrapped in a box, which kept them safe during our trip home. We were pleasantly surprised by the good quality of the coffee and snacks inside the museum—a perfect spot to rest your feet for a bit.

The Met Museum is an absolute must-see! It's so massive and incredible that you won't be able to explore it all in one visit—but that's part of the magic. Choose the exhibits or areas that excite you the most, and prepare to be amazed. This place is brimming with art, history, and culture at every turn. Don’t miss out—it’s 100% worth the visit!

It's almost an assault on the senses because of the massive amounts of exhibits and information you can consume. It is a wonderful addiction. The docents are incredibly patient and so polite. Yes there are days where the museum is more crowded than others I suggest going on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

As a woman who loves art, my visit to The Met was magical! Stunning collections, from the Temple of Dendur to Van Gogh’s masterpieces.Enjoyed a light meal at Petrie Court Café and a lovely fine-dining experience at The Met Dining Room. Food trucks outside were a great quick option.: Huge museum, best explored in the morning to avoid crowds.: A must-visit for art lovers—elegant, inspiring, and unforgettable!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We to see the Sleeping Beauty fashion exhibit. It was phenomenal! We got there on a Monday right at 10 am and was able to register for the exhibit and get right in line. It wasn’t too crowded and the fashion was so much fun!!!! The Met is such a good visit ever I visit! What a gem!

Our family was awestruck by The Met’s renowned architecture, diverse cultural treasures, and expansive galleries. The vibrant atmosphere made our visit an exhilarating journey through art and history.

Have been a couple of times and it is an interesting museum. Slightly overrated tourist attraction after a few visits. Still worth it for first timers!

I long ago lost count of how many world famous museums I’d visited, but The Met tops them all. It’s easy to navigate- which is impressive for such a vast museum- and there is something here to interest everyone. I spent four hours on my first visit and saw barely half the galleries, the museum is a treasure trove of history and art. The signs are very well written and informative as well

Great collection. Could absolutely get lost in there! Beautiful and perfect for families or a date. Great exhibitions as well.

We went with two pre-teens, we walked the museum street from top to bottom is a relaxing walk under shade trees, recommended first thing in the morning. We couldn't get into museums because of a lack of time.

Went to the member preview day of the new fashion exhibit Superfine-it's sensational and beautifull presented. My BIG gripe with the Met Museum is that ALL the coat checks were closed today. As it was a rainy day, I and many others had coats, umbrellas and bags which we were not able to check. It was not the end of the world, but it was not a pleasant experience to lug around a coat in a very crowded hot museum. I expect an institution such as the Met to provide a coat check service. Hope they remedy this for future museumgoers.

i am sure some may disagree but this is my review. Yes I have been to the Louvre. The staff are among the coolest people on earth and the art is a collectio. of the world's best. The late nights on Friday and Saturday are fun. The member's lounge is worth the membership fees for certain.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York - its oft photographed facade, with its stone steps populated by resting tourist is one of THE iconic images in world tourism.
Why on earth, though, do the authorities allow the row of cheap and nasty food vendor trucks to totally line up out front??
There's plenty of road side just along the street. They should be moved to there

Been here many times but had a great experience and time visiting the Harlem Renaissance and Transatlantic Modernism exhibit before it closed. Well thought out pieces, commentary and design. I wish it were a permanent exhibit!

There are so many magnificent attractions to see in New York City but any list has to include the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Located at 1000 5th Avenue, it was founded in 1870 and today contains over 5,000 works of art from around the world. It is the largest art museum in the Americas and the fourth largest in the world. It also is the most visited museum in the United States and fourth most visited in the world. Open from 10 to 5 Sunday through Tuesday and Thursday and 10 to 9 on Friday and Saturday, it captivates visitors with its Arms and Armour exhibit, one of the most popular in the museum, Egyptian art, African art, Oceanic art, American art and Ancient art. See the bust of Voltaire, armour belonging to Henry VIII of England, official diaries of Suleiman the Magnificent, an Etruscan chariot, the oldest surviving piano dating to 1720 and an entire reconstructed bedroom from a noble's villa excavated after its entombment by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. But save time to admire the current exhibits, including The Harlem Renaissance and Trans Atlantic Modernism; Collecting Inspiration: Edward C. Moore at Tiffany & Company; Sleeping Beauties: Remaking Fashion; The African Origin of Civilization; Lineages: Korean Art at the Met; and European Paintings from 1300 to 1800. Along the way, observe the art of such masters as Renoir, van Gogh, Cezanne, Monet, Degas, Manet, Gauguin, Picasso and Toulouse-Lautrec.

The easiest 5 stars. FANTASTIC museum. It's huge, packed with quality galleries of all sorts. I particularly liked the Byzantine exhibition.

If you are in NY you can not miss the MET!!! Nestled in the beautiful central park you have the chance to see with your own eyes the most famous works of art from all over the world... incredible testimonies of ancient Egypt

The museum was very big with different aspects of history. From ancient Egyptian history, Greek and eteuscan to Roman Empire and even medieval era. It was a very nice tour for visitors to see and especially the Egyptian tomb inside the building was something else. Definitely must see.

A very interesting museum with a huge collection of exhibits of different eras and directions.
I recommend leaving the whole day for a visit to this place, as you will want to consider each exhibit. Everything is very interesting and fascinating.
And it's definitely worth going up to the top floor of the museum, where you can enjoy stunning views of Central Park.
The museum is definitely worth a visit if you plan to visit New York!

Beautiful museum with more than modern art. Specially if you like bible history. The rooftop was closed because the high temperature

Absolutely incredible museum! We spent 3 hours and feel like we could have spent weeks walking there. It is overflowing with incredible treasures and history!

sigh
this would have been a solid three stars, but my experience was not SUPERB
guys...hear me out...
it...it is a great place...but not for them young chaps🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠
when i walked into the museum, with a young chap of my own, the big ig (maybe the little iggen instead i will choose)
we walked in...
and the first thing we saw...
was a pp :(((((((
and even worse when we were leaving a group of seven year olds came in and were traumatized by the realism of the parts
and even even worse all the pps were brandon sized

We went 5 hours and we lacked time. The Wings are huge and the Art present is fantastic. But the Monet, but Van Gogh, but Degas but Renoir.. But Egypt! If you are a Nerd and a culture lover, give it a full day.

Not to be missed in NY, both the exhibit and the building itself are magnificent, there is always something new to find or discover, walking through its halls is to tour history and the world. Fascinating.

A museum whose fame precedes it
Inside it is so large and full of sections divided with wisdom and intellect that to view them all and carefully would take an infinite time given the exceptional and extraordinary number of exhibits present!

One of the places I definitely decided to visit during my short stay in New York. As with all the major museums in the world, you can't go around in a day unless you're very strong. Therefore, it seems desirable to set a target in advance before visiting. It would be an efficient way to go around, especially spending a lot of time in areas where you are interested in your life's work. In my case, I am still interested in paintings based on scenes from the Bible, so I spent a lot of time on this visit, and I was able to see something very good. I recommend it.

First time being here with school, I ask a man if he can open a locker because we students cannot open it. Gave me a really rude reaction saying he cant do it and to ask someone else, didn't even look me in the eye when denying me. Then went to ask another lady, she interrupted me before I can even get my full question out, then sent me back to my section embarrassed. Art is beautiful. Would come here again to explore more of the museum, will definitely not interact with staff if not needed. Not even for directions.

We really enjoyed the Tour in this wonderfull museum. We spent a great afternoon here with the whole family. Perfect choice

I am not trying to make you angry with my dumb title but sometimes I need to push the boundaries!! I am a fan of anything that is free and I want to save money to go to London and Cairo eventually!! They are very different from Tokyo but I am trying to be a world traveler!! There is a thing my parents looked up where museums on 5th avenue were free for one night so we went!! There were a lot of statues and headless people and also Egyptian things!! There was also a DJ which was cool!! I know this is one of the top tourist places in NYC so you all should become global city tourists and come!!

The Met is one of the great museums. There are so many options it's hard to choose what to focus on. We saw the Impressionist paintings and then 2 special exhibits - Indian art and Sleeping Beauties, a fashion exhibit. I love Impressionist paintings and it was fun to see the Monet paintings of the Rouen Cathedral and his garden at Giverny because I visited both last summer. The Indian art exhibit had many nice paintings and drawings of elephants which I enjoyed. The fashion exhibit was excellent. Some outrageous gowns along with many other items from the 1700s and 1800s.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is HUGE. Like, we're talking "could spend a week here and still not see everything" huge. But even with our limited time (and increasingly whiny feet), we were blown away. The collection spans centuries and continents, from ancient Egyptian artifacts to modern masterpieces. The atmosphere is both grand and welcoming, and we appreciated the clear signage and accessible layout. Pro-tip: wear comfy shoes!

I spent a lot of time in the evenings, studying and relaxing. Letting the sounds and smells the city flow over me while I wrote my thesis paper for my doctorate at Columbia.

There are few cities in which the choice to discover its neighborhoods, its atmospheres, its architectures, its amazing or extraordinary places on the one hand and one or more of its museums on the other hand is as difficult as in NYC....
But as long as you love the arts, antiques, decorative arts.... a day (at least) at the Met is a source of pleasure(s) and happiness(s) without paragon.
Whether you have set a program beforehand or you wander around without a specific goal, you will see masterpieces aplenty, you will rub shoulders with beauty, you will discover the facets of human genius.

It is always worth a visit. Partly it's very crowded. I particularly like the Asian exhibition. There is art here that you rarely see outside Asia.

A must!
We go every time we pass through NYC
We never tire of it!
To do with family , solo couple or friends!

This is a world-class museum. I try to attend every time I am in New York. Both the permanent collection and the special exhibits are amazing. I especially like the collection of American art.

Incredible works in numbers.
Every era. All styles.
A visit to the shop is also fun for the number of goodies available.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, or "The Met," in New York City is a world-renowned cultural treasure that captivates art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Its vast collection spans over 5,000 years, featuring masterpieces from ancient civilizations to modern art. An amazing spot in New York!

I was there just a week ago and I want to go back! Prepare to spend an entire day here from morning till evening. We spent about 5hrs here and we only managed to examine the Egyptian, the Asian (East, South, South-East), Japanese calligraphy, and a bit of the Greek statue gallery in the first floor.
This museum is awe inspiring with its endless variety of artefacts that you’ll rarely see anywhere else. Even the architecture of the museum is something to be admired, take the time to just walk around and look up!
We did this without a tour and read the pretty detailed guides beside each artefact. You can also do a self-guided audio tour by downloading the Bloomberg Connects app.
Although next time I’m back at the Met (you should definitely make a second, third, fourth visit, to be honest), I would actually get a group guided tour and directly near from a Historian/Curator, so that you can get more details and a richer history of the pieces you are viewing.

We spent hours wandering through The Met and still only scratched the surface. From the grandeur of the Egyptian Temple of Dendur to the serene European paintings, every room felt like a new world. It was a profoundly beautiful experience to share, feeling so small in the face of so much history and art.

It was a very pleasant visit. The museum has amazing works of art and especially has an area with medieval armor that I liked very much. Not to mention that we remember some movies that show the museum when it's there. We used the city pass to go and it was worth it. It's close to Central Park.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art impressed with world-class exhibits and beautifully curated galleries. Crowds were heavy in peak areas, but manageable. Ticket prices felt fair for the experience, and the audio guide was excellent. Don’t miss the Egyptian Wing and European Paintings.

A really cool experience. The museum is huge and has a lot to offer. You would need a few years to properly explore it, so don’t worry, you won’t run out of things to see. When we visited, the Van Gogh exhibit was there and we were extremely happy, as we are a family of artists. Don’t get discouraged if you see a long line at the entrance. It moves very fast. However, I recommend you buy the tickets in advance. We got ours in May and visited in July. Beautiful through and through.

A fundamental stop for those who love art and culture. One day alone is not enough to appreciate all that it offers, from the point of view of the treasures it contains

The museum is enormous with so many styles of art to enjoy! The accessible entrance was easy to find and the museum was easy for my daughter to navigate in her wheelchair.

Very large museum, with a rich collection of art from various ages and styles. Impermeable for those interested in art and history.

Loved our guide, Cherie, she was knowledgeable and efficient. I had my granddaughter with me who is 9 and she was able to converse at her level. That said, the museum is huge with a massive collection and takes more than a day to get through. Definitely a must do and was the highlight of my trip to New York!

First visited twenty-five years ago, today the Met tastes different, but no better.
Surely very rich in works of art, I was admired in front of Cézanne, Monet, Picasso, Van Gogh, the Greek and Roman Etruscan collection... and all the rest.... and yet....
Chaotic, full of noisy people with no respect, organized groups not managers, staff who do not intervene to ensure the minimum of serenity necessary to enjoy so much beauty.
So I would say worse than the first time for the reception, the internal organization of the works also lacking with unclear paths.
Too bad.

A wonderful experience, a huge museum that won us over. Absolutely not to be missed in New York with the Guggenheim.

There is a perfect museum in New york City. Me and my friend enjoyed the ancient exhibition areas. We went there on november and it is not crowded.

A beautiful and complete museum.
Among the many works, in addition to the best known, deserves the Tiffany collection and the room made by Solomon R.

The Met is the closest thing the U.S. has to an encyclopedic museum, a Beaux-Arts pile on Fifth Avenue whose layered expansions now feel like a small city of galleries, thresholds, and time periods stitched together. At its best, drifting through that city is an exercise in adjacency—Egypt next to Greece next to global modernity—inviting you to read form, power, and representation as long, overlapping structures rather than isolated masterpieces, even as the institution still wrestles with the legacies of wealth, collecting, and access that built it.

One of my favorite places! I simply love it! Definitely a must if you're coming to the city and if you love art! One of the best museums in New York city.

My wife and I spent a few hours touring this beautiful museum. The building is very impressive and has a variety of permanent and temporary exhibitions to appeal to every taste. Would recommend.

You would have to spend the whole day there (even for the $30 ticket...) but you know that the things to do in New York are countless. However, budget a certain number of hours keeping in mind that at 5pm it closes (except Fridays and Saturdays): it deserves them all.

We come to this museum every time we come to New York.
One could spend a week here and not see everything.
This time, we got here early and went on the free tour at 10:30. The group had already started, but the very kind lady at the front desk hunted them up for us! (Above and beyond what was necessary!). The tour was very interesting, and we learned about a few things we normally wouldn’t have seen.
There was a new Tiffany window on display.
The collection of Impressionist paintings was wonderful to see.
And, of course, the Egyptian temple and artifacts are always stunning.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located at the Upper East side of Central Park in the New York City. The museum is rich with collections, with exhibit covering Art of Egyptian, Greek and Roman, African, Oceanic, Modern and Contemporary, Medieval, European, American, Asian, Arab, Central Asia, etc. There are so many high quality exhibits that you can easily spend multiple days at the museum.

Fantastic collection of history, art, architecture and more. You could easily spend a day or more in this museum. Good for a rainy day in New York but gets busy.

How can one review the Met? It is a privilege to be able to go here. It is one of the world‘s great museums. The experience starts when you finish climbing those steps and enter the great hall. What a bargain for New York State residents who can pay what they want. As long as it’s more than one cent. Nice to see that what we contribute financially is being rewarded. We of course paid a reasonable amount for our tickets. The building is just huge with wing after wing, each revealing new delights. If you are interested in medieval art, Middle Eastern, art, European art pre-1800, armor, Costumes, double etc. it is all there for you. We concentrated on the French 19th and 20th century paintings, which had a wonderful collection of impressionism, including wonderful Monets, Manets, Seurat, and so many more. These paintings are just so beautiful to look at and contemplate how amazing their creators were. There is also a wonderful musical instrument collection with many of the modern instruments and their precursors. Going to the American wing there collection of Hudson River school is pretty limited, but some beautiful pieces. One of the highlights is walking into a gallery and without realizing it’s coming seeing “Washington Crossing the Delaware“ staring right at you. This is the nature of this museum. You never know what amazing sight you will see and they keep coming. A warning is that it is huge and things are somewhat hard to find, but there is a great number of staff who are very friendly and helpful. They do need more ladies rooms as the wait at the men’s room was nil compared with the women’s. Again, one of the world’s great museums and a must do in New York.

This place is massive. There is no way you could see everything in 1 day.
Many interesting paintings and artifacts here.
My Favorite was Washington Crossing the Delaware, and i advice not to miss that One.
One of best Museum in the world.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
A fascinating place that’s packed with history, culture, and well-curated exhibits. I particularly enjoyed how interactive some of the sections were, making it a great visit for all ages. The information provided was detailed but not overwhelming, and the layout made it easy to explore at your own pace. My only small critique would be the gift shop—it felt a little overpriced. That said, this is a must-visit for anyone in the area looking for a meaningful and educational experience.

After the disappointment of the Guggenheim Museum, this was absolutely wonderful. But I only had two hours. So I focused on European art. This time I stared a lot and kept clicking away too. And…I still had time to grab some souvenirs, and even signed up as a member. Haha.

The trip guide ( ’m forgetting his name… from New Jersey and has been in NY for 45 years) was amazing. It’s difficult to pack that much content into a two hour tour but he was able to do so while adding a personal touch. I highly recommend this option.

Great place your day with my family is a good time with my friends are going through the same thing as well as well as a child support of the year old girl I don't know what you think about it is not a good time with my friends with me for more than one

I’ve visited NYC many times as I used to live in NJ but somehow I’ve never been to The Met. Having been now, I’d say it’s the best museum in the city. The price is definitely worth it as you could spend a whole day there. We only had a few hours and I wish we had more time. From the varied art to the amazing Ancient Egyptian area, it was a fantastic day out.

Gorgeous art work! Such a variety! Go early ahead of the crowds and see your most important pieces then enjoy the rest! It was such a great day! We found a few spots where we can recharge our phones and sit and scetch. The food offerings were ok, but will set you back $. Best to save and splurge at a nice restaurant!

I love the Met. I go every time I visit New York, and try to see a different part of it. It’s fascinating; it’s beautifully laid out and well organised.
My big tip - research and plan your visit! It’s huge - you could spend days here, so if you haven’t planned what you want to see, it would be very easy to just wander around aimlessly.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is absolutely incredible! The sheer size and variety of the collection blew me away—from ancient Egyptian artifacts to stunning European paintings and even modern art. I could’ve spent days exploring all the different galleries. The architecture of the building itself is beautiful, and the rooftop garden offers an amazing view of Central Park. It’s a must-visit spot in New York City for anyone who loves history, art, or culture.

Went with school but have also been many other times. This is uneqivocally the best museum in NYC. You need to come, you can't even see everything if you stay the whole day. Wow.

I visited to see the 19th and 20th century European paintings and wasn’t disappointed. Overall the collection was probably the best I’ve seen anywhere in the world. I also quickly looked at the paintings of Venice. The staff were all very helpful and friendly including at the main information desk and in the various gallery rooms. I really enjoyed my visit and wish I’d had more time.

I made a special trip to NYC to see the Met's Caspar David Freidrich exhibit. While there I tried to see works of other favorite artists. I took advantage of the extended hours on Friday evening when the museum is open to 9:00PM. Crowds were manageable and the experience was breathtaking. As I bounced from gallery to gallery I was amazed at how much the museum had. The place is huge and there were surprises everywhere - armor, porcelain, sculpture, Fabrege eggs, stained glass, furniture etc... There are plenty of places to sit and rest if you get tired. I spent 2 1/2 hours in the museum and still couldn't see everything I wanted. My suggestion is to pre-plan your visit. Know what you want to see and which galleries they are in, before you get there. So much art to enjoy. I will return and most likely get a membership so I can visit more often.

Metropolitan Museum of Art presented an exhibition of a collection of Himalayan Buddhist works from the 11th to the 15th centuries.
The mandalas on display reflected the virtuosity of Tibetan painters.
We extended our visit with the rooms dedicated to Egyptian art.
But in fact, this museum is so large, collecting so many beauties, that the hours would take more than 60 minutes to get around.
A word for the reception staff, very kind and helpful.

Visiting the Met for the first time in years. The service has deteriorated significantly. To leave a bag at the cloakroom took the best part of 30 mins even though there were only 20 people in the queue. Collecting your bag is equally slow and painful. Only 2 members of staff on duty! Tip. Don’t leave a bag!
A fair number of galleries were closed , apparently due to lack of “guards” to man them! I approached a manager to ask if I could look in one Roman art gallery that I came to see and got a resounding “no”. In summary, a disappointment.

This amazing museum has an enormous collection of art from all eras, including an Egyptian tomb. Interesting special exhibits are always on display. We really enjoyed the Rockefeller Wing, especially the art of Oceania and Ancient America.

What an amazing visit I had at The Met on Saturday! I originally planned to see the Black Dandy exhibit, but the experience turned out to be so much more—absolutely extraordinary. Honestly, it was overwhelming in the best way possible. I’ll definitely need a few more visits to take it all in.
Complete accessible and spacious but expect huge crowds. Photography but no flash allowed. Impossible to visit the whole thing in 1 day.

This place is amazing and has many incredible collections. We didn’t take a guided tour, but the map helped us find the major attractions we wanted to see. The security were extremely helpful.
The only criticism I have is that many of the labels were either very tiny or not near in some of the rooms especially in the American wing of decorative arts with the cases of artifacts behind the glass.

This place is huge so best to plan what parts you want to see so you don’t miss key areas you are interested in.
I think younger children would get a bit bored as it’s lots of artifacts which
The cafe had limited options for our gluten free traveller which was disappointing. The advertised gf baked goods were not available. Considering the number of tourists that go to this site better options for those with allergens would be a plus.

Buy tickets online for quicker entry. So much to see with beautiful paintings and artifacts! Make sure you have at least a couple of hours but really need more to see most of everything.

We had a great time in this musuem with our lovely guide, Jack.
He explained each artwork and we overall explored the area very efficiently.
Highly recommend.

It may not be "cutting edge" art and there are sometimes greater works by some of the world's master artists in other art museums around the world, but it is a stunning collection of masterpieces that any serious art lover needs to savor.

Truly very beautiful museum, one of the best ever visited, for cultures and artefacts on display.
Very large and well managed facility

The Metropolitan, or simply The Met, is an imposing museum, not only for its size but also for the variety of artifacts it presents (some of which are exceptional). It is a museum similar to the British Museum in London.
One of the many "Must" of New York City.

Visiting the Met for the first time was an incredible experience, and I wish I had planned more time to explore! The layout of the museum is fascinating, making it easy to navigate while discovering its vast collection.
From ancient artifacts to stunning paintings, every exhibit captivated me. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail in the displays, which added depth to the experience.
I highly recommend checking out the "Must See" route on their website before your visit—it really helps in making the most of your time. Overall, the Met is a must-visit, and I can't wait to return to fully enjoy everything this amazing museum has to offer!

Excellent Guide, knowledgeable about the museum. An endless museum full of treasures of incalculable value to humanity. You should take several days to enjoy it to the fullest. It is one of the greatest museums in the world in one of the greatest cities in the world.

It's unbelievable how much art from all over the world has been collected here: paintings by the world's most important artists are just a few meters away from Egyptian wall paintings and sarcophagi. The entrance fee is worth every cent; you can spend many days here without stopping being amazed. And the director is Max Hollein, an Austrian!

Our family of three went to see the Sleeping Beauty exhibit. The show was wonderful and crowded. My daughter is a fashion design graduate and really wanted to see the exhibit. It did not disappoint, and we look forward to coming back to the MET in the future.

Sienna the Rise of Painting 1300-1350 exhibitions was Outstanding. Only the MET could pull off such a triumph. The set design created a very unique atmosphere.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a must-visit in NYC! Incredible collections, stunning exhibits, and a beautiful setting. Perfect for art enthusiasts of all ages.

Charlie was amazing! I would recommend him as a tour guide to anyone. Very knowledgeable and amazing! Highly recommend!

We recently had a private’Members After Hours’ event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and this is the best way to see the museum. The membership had the whole museum to ourselves.
I finally got to see some of the exhibitions that I have waited a long time to view. I toured ‘Abstract Weavers’ with an exhibition on the weaving skills of the early Inca civilization and how it influenced modern weavers. Some of the intricate work was very interesting. There were some colorful pieces that I enjoyed viewing.
Then I got to see the ‘Sleeping Beauties’ and that is a difficult exhibition to see because everyone wants to see it. They had on display many of outfits that socialites had worn and still had the smells of their perfumes and their smoking. It showed the personality of the wearer and who had worn it.
What was nice about the evening was their was entertainment and the restaurants were open so you could have a drink and dinner while you were enjoying the evening. Also the museum was open to us until 10:00pm so there was plenty of time to tour the open galleries. This is when I enjoy being a member.

So lucky! An exhibit of works by Met Museum employees just opened the day before our visit, and is only on display for two weeks, so totally by chance we managed to see it! I loved how packed and varied and colorful the exhibit is. So fun! Apparently they do this every two years so I am putting that on my calendar to look for in 2026!
The Siena and Flight onto Egypt exhibits were also super. The audio guide for Siena didn’t line up for me (showed pictures from somewhere else in the museum lol) and then I didn’t have time to listen so didn’t look for the audio tour while viewing the Flight into Egypt.
I didn’t have time to see more than a few rooms of their regular collections, but I always love viewing the impressionist works, and some on display were ones I hadn’t seen there before. Such a feeling of Ahhhh.

This is one of the best art museums in the country. You could get lost of hours in art- there's so much to see. A couple highlights - the Egyptian temple and George Washington crossing the Potomac.

Museum of imposing dimensions that ranges art over the centuries and continents but the gem is European painting of 1800 and modern art, in the area dedicated to Egyptian art there is an entire temple (of Dendur).
It seems to want to imitate the British Museum but it is not the British Museum and is still very large so I recommend planning the tour in advance.
The audio guide is available on the website.

The museum is huge, if you want to see everything in details, need to spend at least 3 days. The Temple of Dendur and Asian Art are full of historical sites.

The architecture of the museum is very nice both outside and inside the place. To enter it is necessary to climb the stairs, however there is a small entrance to the left side of the fountain for people who cannot climb steps and presenting your ticket allow you to enter by the elevator. There's a lot of security at every exhibition. It is definitely a museum that you cannot miss if you visit the city. And you can dedicate a whole day or several days to it. Inside the museum you will find spaces to buy souvenirs (they do not have measures for children) such as sweatshirts, caps, accessories inspired by paintings, etc.
The cost of the day was $22 for seniors, $30 for adults and children without charge.
You can purchase your tickets online if you wish. The museum is on the side of Central Park. I definitely recommend visiting.

We think the views from the rooftop of the Met Museum of Art are wonderful. It is a great place to relax and have a cocktail.

The Met is a treasure trove of art and history, with beautifully curated exhibits spanning centuries and cultures. It's a must-visit for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Don't miss the rooftop garden for stunning views of Central Park!

Our family visit to The Metropolitan Museum of Art was unforgettable! The vast collection, from ancient artifacts to modern masterpieces, amazed us all. The kids loved the Egyptian exhibit, and we were inspired by the European paintings. A perfect mix of education and fun!

The museum is huge. I would like to say that today there were certainly about 3000 visitors at once in the museum. Due to the size basically no problem. It has exhibited fabulous images by the best artists.

The Met is absolutely incredible and worth every minute you spend there. The building alone is stunning, and the collection is massive — you could visit multiple times and still see something new. From ancient artifacts to famous paintings, there’s so much variety that it never feels boring.
It’s well organized, easy to navigate, and the staff are helpful without being overbearing. Even if you’re not a huge art person, the experience is impressive and inspiring. Easily one of the best things to do in NYC and a place I’d recommend to anyone visiting the city.

Amazing art and with lots of variety from Turner, Constable, Glimt, Picasso , Matisse, Cezanne, VGV, Monet and much more. If arts your thing the a visit here is a must.

I could have spent hours there. We were on a quick trip but we made time to stop by and see the amazing artwork. I loved every minute
