I normally don't find handcrafts especially appealing and wasn't sure that this would be something I'd like. When we left the museum 90 minutes later, I was saying, wow, that was amazing.
This isn't a display of girly bed coverings made by church basement ladies. (I am not disparaging them; I just want to break down a preconceived notion you might have.) This is a true art form, and these quilts are made for display on walls and in museums, not on beds. It can take hundreds of hours to make one of these, and the designs, detail, and workmanship are incredible. Several times I marveled at three dimensional textures, and some pieces had me wondering how the artist achieved their work's effects.
The museum has its own permanent collection, only a fraction of which is on display at any given time, as items are rotated on and off exhibit. There are also exhibition areas for temporary displays that aren't owned by the museum, and the ones I saw were excellent. If I lived anywhere near Paducah, I'd come here a few times a year knowing that I'd see something different each time.
Forget any gender biases you might have about quilting, too. I saw some great pieces made by men here.
If you are visiting the Paducah area and like art, I highly recommend that you take an hour or so to see this museum.

This is a great visit. What a fabulously curated collection. The temporary installations Southern Quilts and Quilt Block challenge were wonderful. Vastly different but exceptional. I wondered why the docent said "DO NOT TOUCH" upon entry. Then I entered and that is all I wanted to do. The wooden quilt does have a sample piece to touch. Probably will not entertain children for very long. Worth the stop.

Right off the bat, I’ll admit I wasn’t that excited to go to this museum—but I’m so glad I did! It is as much an art and history museum as anything else. Since the exhibits rotate there is a wide variety of practical quilts and textile wall art on display at any given time. I especially enjoyed the Kansas City Star exhibit. These quilts were made from patterns printed in this newspaper back in the 1920-30’s that were marketed to increase readership among women. Many of those same patterns can be found on quilts in closets and cedar chests across the country today!

9So, let me be clear. This is an excellent museum, with lots of beautiful quilts on display. I highly recommend going. However, I do feel this could be a world-class museum with the addition of 2 additional features. First, as it stands, this museum is Heaven for quilters. However, I feel it needs to also appeal to those NOT especially into quilts as well. Many of us do not know what goes into quilting, the art and the science involved. This is not portrayed at the museum. I do not know what a Baltimore block is, and I still do not really know, though apparently it is a theme widely used since the mid-1800's and developed in Baltimore? Anyone visiting this museum should be able to know more than that, and I did read the signage. I'd suggest a video portraying the process of quilting, using actual quilters in possible. In addition, this museum does NOT always display older quilts. Most of the collection dates back 40 years or less. The history of quilting (including Baltimore blocks, Amish quilts, etc) should be portrayed in my opinion. Some of this could be done virtually. I am aware the museum does have a virtual collection available online, but I'd have liked to see visitors have easy virtual access to the entire collection on-site. In closing, DEFINITELY worth a visit, but this could become the "World Class International Quilt Museum" with a little work.

This destination has been on our (women of the family) bucket list for some time. We were not disappointed! there were many Quilts displayed that were unique and unusual. Even the traditional quilts were beautifully done. Written descriptions of the quilt and quilter were each enjoyable to read. While we "thought" we knew all about quilting, we learned lots from the displays. Museum staff were very friendly. Small souvenir shop was an added bonus. .

I am not a quilter but this was a wonderful museum. Quilts from all eras and from all over the world.

I thought this would be primarily of interest to quilters but not so. Unbelievable quilts of all types. So much creativity. Amazing talent.

If you are a quilt enthusiast, this is your little piece of heaven. Beautiful and unique quilts and art throughout. Paducah is quilt capital of the country. We were there for the Quilt Festival at the Convention Center and got tickets for this museum as well.

I don't like to sew, so this would not have crossed my thoughts as a place to go. However, my sister was visiting and she is a seamstress so I thought why not, maybe she'll enjoy it. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the museum. These are not just quilts but they are works of art. I was stunned at the artistic ability of all the quilts and how different they all were. Well worth the 2 hr drive to get there.

What a beautiful experience! The National Quilt Museum displays some of the most beautiful quilts in the world and does it in such a way that is relaxing and focuses your attention on each quilt. The lighting and coloring is soft so that each quilt shines. Take some time to really reflect on what's on display. The displays change from time to time so each visit will be different. Definitely a must see place, not only for quilters, but for anyone interested in art and beauty. There is a nice little gift shop as well.

I know very little about quilts, let alone the art of quilting. This museum focuses on the Art. Absolutely amazing pieces of fabric are transformed into precious works that celebrate the artists vision of what’s possible with fabric.
Well worth a visit to explore this American medium.

WOW! There are so many different quilts here but none that you would actually use... except maybe for the miniature ones for doll house beds. Worth the trip to see such a varied display of talented quilters.

This museum is amazing! The quilts are so beautiful and the exhibits are wonderful. This is a must see.

The National Quilt Museum has always been a 'bucket list' item.
We stopped into the small town of Padukah, KY and visited the quilt museum on Labor Day. I was afraid it was going to be closed even though their website said it would be open.
What a lovely museum. I loved the fact that the museum gave a veteran's discount of $1, so my admission price was $11.
The museum reminded me of the quilt displays at quilt shows. All of the quilts were magnificent. It probably took me about an hour and a half to look at all of the displays.
Their gift shop was cute. I bought a bag and two coasters.
If you're a quilter, it's worth your time to stop in. I'm glad I did.

This was a impulse stop on the way to St Louis from TN, and it did NOT disappoint! Myself, a crafter, and my best friend, a lover of fashion history, both thoroughly enjoyed the HERstory exhibit they had when we visited. It was a thoughtful display of different stories, backgrounds, techniques, and interpretations. The main exhibit is also beautiful, which a rotating selection of quilts. I was amazed at how close you are allowed to get (but don't touch!) to really see the hand stitching and layering techniques used. A great little 1-2 hour stop!

My wife is a quilter and has been looking forward to the Quilt Museum in Paducah for a while.Great displays of various quilts from standard sizes to wall hangings and even miniature quilts. A great display is the Quilts of Valor exhibit, containing various quilts made and dedicated to America's service members and Vets. They also had a great display of hand-quilted quilts. One of my favorites was the wooden quilt. It looks like an actual cloth quilt, only its carved out of basswood and is painted to be a colorful quilt. All of their items are truly amazing pieces of art.

Three galleries, two with changing exhibits, provide a feast for the eyes of folks who appreciate art. The main gallery has winners of the AQS quilt of the year since around 1989, although there's not room for all to be displayed at once. Admittance includes the option to go outside and return later in the day, so you can take a break from the intense experience of examining these varied and beautiful works of art. For a quilter, it doesn't get much better. A few sculptures are on the grounds, and the gift shop offers local products. A guided tour is available and docents are available to answer questions. Photos are permitted.

"Stunning" might summarize the visual treat that awaits you at this gem of a museum in an otherwise plain midwestern small city. My quilter wife and I visited a few years back so we knew the world-class quality of the works of art and craft that awaited us. This time we went for the Japan 2013 traveling exhibit. It easily exceeded even our expectations.

I was expecting to see many beautiful quilts. And wow, did we ever! But there is so much more to this museum. The tour was a wonderful introduction to the museum, highlighting the various types of quilts and providing valuable insight and knowledge about quilting. The exhibits were amazing, showcasing important social justice quilts and surprisingly high quality student quilts. The focus on current artists is novel and brings a very old craft into the modern world. I cannot recommend this museum enough. Take your time, look at the details, and embrace, with awe and amazement, the beautiful art surrounding you.

An absolute must for any quilter. Do take the tour, it is worth more than the extra $4! The level of artistry is amazing.

This museum is incredible. The quilts on display there are absolutely amazing! I was so impressed. It is a definite must see. I’m so glad I visited and got to see it.

It was a bit rainy and overcast so we decided to see the Quilt Museum. We spent over 2 hours and hubby didn't fizzle out either. There are chairs situated throughout the rooms, and several benches to rest. I don't quilt but have several friends that do. It was hard to believe that these were actually all hand made. Some all by hand, others by hand and machine. Some took years to plan and execute. We will have to get back there again as they rotate the quilts and have special showings. These are truly artists!

I was disappointed there were no historical or traditional quilts. More of a gallery than a museum. Lovely examples of contemporary fabric art, tho.

I have been looking forward to visiting the National Quilt Museum. They did not disappoint!! From the kind woman who greeted me to the tour guide and the lovely clerks in the gift shop it was a WONDERFUL experience. The quilts are amazing and BE SURE to take the guided tour if you stop. Well worth the extra $4 and you hear so much about the quilt and quilters!!

Very disapointing.. I was looking for a quit museum, this is not. It is an art gallery. If you are looking for quilt inspiration, go somewhere else.

This museum does not focus on design so much as stitching prowess. There are many unappealing quilts here! There is such a thing as "dated" work. I am an artist, an art teacher, and a quilter, so I am not just speaking off the cuff. There is a lack of diversity in style, technique and materials as well. There are so many bold, corny designs featured, and very little subtlety!

To be quite frank, the only reason I went there was because we were driving past it and my wife wanted to go. I expected to see a few quaint old bed quilts and maybe some demonstrations of quilting. You know, SNOOZER. But I was amazed: every single quilt was not only a work of art, but it was a masterpiece. I was stunned by the incredible skill and genius of the people who could turn a few colorful scraps of cloth into images of great beauty. One quilter had convinced hundreds of famous people to autograph small pieces of cloth and the assembled them into a quilt. These autographs included Indira Ghandi, Lucille Ball, Roy Rogers, James Van Allen, Jonathan Winters and many more. Another quilter created images of famous paintings that became apparent only when we looked at them through a cell phone camera. I cannot give justice to the beautiful things on display with mere words, but this is a national treasure of a museum and worth making a special trip for.

If you are a quilter or not this is a must see on your trip or bucket list. The quilts were beautiful and out standing.

I am not a quilter, but I've always loved quilts... the way they surround you with warmth and love; the art and talent that goes into each one... I've always had an appreciation for quilts. And after visiting the Quilt Museum, that appreciation has grown exponentially.
Admission is reasonable ($12 for adults) and we were happy to pay an additional $4 for the guided tour. This gave us quite a bit more insight into the techniques used and the history behind several of the quilts. I feel like we got a LOT more out of the tour because it was guided.
At first glance, some of the quilts truly looked like wall art instead of pieces of fabric stitched together. I was truly amazed at the different colors, designs, fabrics, techniques, stitching and the stories they told.
We were there close to two hours and not once did I get bored.

Wonderful quilts on display the staff were very professional and friendly. There were plenty of exhibits to look at and see.

I was very skeptical about going to a museum dedicated to quilts. Seriously, quilts are nice, but a museum?! It was $12.00 per adult and I only anted up because my daughter wanted to go. I was expecting a lot of old fashioned quilts, probably not made from scraps like my grandmother’s, but hardly anything that would take more than a few minutes to go through the entire museum. I was SO wrong! The quilts that I saw were genuine works of art. There was an exhibition from a woman who’d spent several years in Africa and hers were all about daily life there. At first glance you could be excused for thinking that these were lovely painting, not quilts. There was also a wooden quilt, that if it weren’t for a sample that you could touch, you would never believe was made from wood. We stayed for over a hour until the museum closed. Every selection showed a level of artistry and skill that was mind-boggling. The beauty of the exhibits was enthralling and well worth the expense. I highly recommend making time for this hidden gem of a museum!

Loved the museum. Not much to look at on the outside, but inside is magical. The amazing pieces on display will delight and make you realize that these are truly pieces of art. I found out there are many more in storage because they just don't have the room to display them all. Too bad because they are beautiful, intricate and a total wonder. Who would have thought this place is in a small town in Kentucky. Congratulations Paducah!

The quilts in this museum which rotate ( they have a lot of quilts in their collection) are absolutely beyond belief. I am not a quilter but now I want to try it. The special exhibits are incredible. The gift shop is amazing as well.

This museum is a place of amazing art and not just an arrangement of fabric squares! The level of art, creativity, and surprisingly interactive displays make this a terrific adventure for kids and adults. Truly this museum is one of a kind and not to be missed!

Great museum for quilters. My husband even enjoyed it. The guided tour is well worth the extra $$. Awesome exhibits! Nice gift shop as well.

This museums every changing displays show you how an artist works with fabric as their medium. There are so many different types of quilts, colors, fabrics, embellishments, sizes, types....and can go on and on. My mother and I went to visit and were totally amazed by these talented artists from around the world.

If you think you aren’t interested in quilts, this is not just a quilt museum, it is an art museum! These quilts are amazing. Right now, the Van Gogh exhibit is there, which was why I wanted to go here but everything was interesting. It doesn’t take a long time, and if definitely worth a special trip.

Wife and I were on vacation and I decided to surprise her with a stop at this museum. She was really excited because she has wanted to go for years. We toured the museum on our own and were glad we did. Smaller than I expected but still worth the time to admire the quilts displayed there.

Very interesting. One does not have to be a quilter, or even a sewer, to appreciate the beautiful pieces. This level of quilting is like any other good art work only the medium is fabric, not paint or clay or metal.

We stopped by here on our way from Martin, TN, to Louisville, KY; it was stormy that day, so an indoor site was our goal. I do not quilt, but I appreciate them as works of art. We were told the focus here is on modern and contemporary quilts; I am only familiar with the type we see in PA Amish country (where we live), so it was good to see different kinds. There were many beautiful ones here in the style that I like; many others were more nontraditional but still interesting to view.
We viewed the display in about one hour (the gallery space is not expansive). I found 2 quilt-themed jigsaw puzzles in their gift shop (while I don’t quilt, I do work on puzzles!).

The displays are amazing. This is much more than old quilts hanging on a wall. This is a textile art museum that reflects our heritage and honors those who create these works of art.

This museum of quilts rotates and changes. So even if you stop in once, the art will be new when you visit again. These quilts inspire in color and design. They are not pieces I'm going to go home and make, but they make me happy to view. Also reminds me that my own quilting is art as well.

The musuem is not just for quilters to enjoy. It is truly an art musuem! No matter how many times you might visit, there is always something new to see! It is amazing the talent and vision that some folks have.

This is one of the best places to visit. I always enjoy the yearly show, but it is nice there is a museum. I would like to see more older hand stitched quilts there.

This was our second time to visit the museum, the first time was probably 10 years ago. As with the first time we were not disappointed. We are not quilters, however it amazed us to see the tallent and artistic creativity that went into making each of these quilts. My only disappointment was that we did not see the quilts from previous winners like we saw the first time we came. Overall it is a must see if your are near Paducah.

I had no preconceived notions of what I'd find here. What I did find was some of the most intricate works of fabric art I've ever seen.
I appreciated the occasional chair in front of various pieces where I could sit and take in the macro view of these works. Then I could get right up to each work (no touching) to see the micro view, the stitches, the talent and hours each piece must have taken. There is extraordinary skill and beauty here to take in.
Yes, you can walk through quickly but, I suggest you take your time to absorb what you are seeing and really enjoy and appreciate this art form.
All the folks here were also very lovely and kind, great ambassadors of their museum space and the city of Paducah.
We'll return, for sure.

Can not believe how great this place is. Some of the quilts are just amazing. Never seen anything like them. Tge wooden quilt was just so cool! If you ever go to Padukah...don't miss this place.

Absolutely amazing!! I've been wanting to see this museum for years and it was worth the wait. The space accommodates all sizes of quilts and the lighting shows off every detail. Work comes for all areas of the world as well as the local talented quilters lucky enough to live in Paducah and take classes.
This is definitely well beyond just your grandmother's quilt (although I've seen some awesome old grandma quilts).
I was pressed for time, but hope to come back with friends to see this and don't forget the stain glass either!!
One thing though, I bought my ticket online only to find out that I qualified for a cheaper price. Could have easily purchased at the museum. Live and learn.

This was a great morning, the displays were magnificent and the tour guide worked at a good pace. The level of workmanship in the quilts was amazing.

absolutely beautiful place to visit. The artists work was amazing. They even made scaps of material look great.

This museum is well worth visiting. The quilts are beautiful and the layout of the museum is easy to get around.

I'm not a quilt fan. I just remember by grandmother's quilts for the beds. So i wasn't excited about being dragged to this place. But, once i entered the door, my mouth dropped. These are not quilts by layman's standards. These are Truly works of art that express feelings, emotions and deep thought. The exhibit on women's suffrage, Animal portraits and the small portraits of couples was truly amazing. Thanks for putting this museum together. It's a Must do. Even for non-quilters

I took my mom and sisters to visit this museum. I would highly recommend getting the guided tour to learn more about the quilts and the artists who made them. The Quilt Museum houses several hundred quilts and rotates out their pieces which allows for new experiences each time you visit. These quilts are breathtaking and spectacular works of art. Definitely not old, boring granny quilts here.

I did enjoy looking at the art quilts, but I thought there should have been a room with more traditional quilts. The price of admission is a little high for the number of quilts/art that are on display. Most art museums have many many rooms with art and usually an entire exhibit or two with fiber art. A little disappointed with the museum.

I have been wanting to visit this museum for many years. My dream finally came true and it was more than I imagined! The quilts were so magnificent! The artwork and craftmanship was beyond amazing. It has encouraged me to try and achieve more originality and skill in my own quilting!

Beautiful art. So different and special. I appreciate all the work that goes into these pieces. The variety of quilts and wall hangings is amazing. And the display of children's art made it even more special.

We were lucky to visit the museum during a presentation of patriotic quilts. They were the highlight for us. My wife has quilted so this is definitely a must visit if you have someone like that in your family. The museum is easy to find in the downtown district near the river. We spent about 1.5 hours, saw many beautiful quilts. We prefer the more old fashioned ones and they have many of those as well as more modern designs. Do not miss the wooden quilt in the meeting room near the store. They will remind you to do that. Cost is reasonable, all in all a great activity.

I’m a retired guy whose greatest accomplishment in sewing would be to sew on a button. But I really enjoyed this museum and actually wanted to spend more time there than my wife did. If you go, I would suggest that you go
through “counterclockwise”. That way you will begin with the more traditional quilts and end with the really outstanding, more modern ones. Although “modern” does not mean “better” with many things these days, in my opinion, the modern quilts are much more interesting and allow the maker to express herself more fully. I really just had to stand and stare at many of them from a distance and up close to really appreciate the use of materials and colors. These quilts are truly works of art, not just exhibitions of fine sewing

This isn’t a “museum” in the traditional sense. All quilts displayed were made in 1998 or since. Zero historical information regarding quilts. All quilts displayed at the time of our visit were “quilt show” quality, complete with glue on flat backed gems, I assume to catch and reflect the light. Truly some breathtaking work on display. Comfortable, clean, and staff were attentive, friendly, and seemed happy. Museum is dedicated to “today’s quilters.” Had I been visiting with the idea to take up quilting as a hobby, I’d have dropped that idea like a hot rock. It undoubtedly takes many years to make a “show quality” quilt. In visiting a “museum,” I always hope to learn something new. Zero education involved in this museum.

We paid the few extra dollars for a private guided tour. Fantastic quilts of all types and designs. Several wonderful special exhibits truly made this a great stop.

A beautiful museum with fabulous exhibits and gift shop, well worth the time to visit! The staff were warm and welcoming and helpful when needed.
The artistic expression in quilts is unbelievable!

Wonderful experience!
The display of amazing talent was incredible!! Our son recently moved to Paducah. We visited the quilt museum for a couple of hours. I’ve later learned that Paducah is a UNESCO Creative City (rightfully so).
The efforts of the quilt museum staff are impressive!! The staff is so passionate and informative of the quilts on display. I’m a novice quilter, so I had an interest. However, the museum is a must see for any one of any age.
I’m told the quilts are changed out periodically, as to showcase talents from all over. There is also opportunities to attend workshops.

This is an amazing place if you have any interest at all in quilting. A great way to spend a couple hours. The artistry is beautiful

Nothing historical, just a gallery of modern quilts. While you’ll see some interesting pieces, there’s nothing to learn. We were in and out in 45 minutes. Some of that time was looking for more displays because I was convinced there was more. Don’t waste your money.

We took our grandchildren, ages 8, 10 and 12, to the Quilt Museum the day after Thanksgiving. They became very interested in viewing the quilts. They kept pulling us to individual quilt displays and showing us details they had read or pointing out quilts they thought were interesting. Each picked out a few favorite quilts. I was blown away by the details, imagination and talent these artists possess! Some of the museum ladies very kindly explained several interesting facts concerning the quilts.

We hadn’t planned on stopping here, but the afternoon was hot and I wasn’t ready to explore Paducah in the heat of the day so agreed to check it out. I’m so glad we did! I have made several small machine made quilts, mostly Irish chain style, so have not had experience with the level of quilting on display here. Wow!! What beautiful and creative artwork!! This museum ranks right up there with the many art galleries we have toured in our lifetime. We especially enjoyed the special exhibit Fly Me to the Moon which honored our astronauts and their accomplishments - one of the quilts in this exhibit honored their wives as well. Having lived through the glory days of our space program and visited the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum on many occasions, this exhibit added a special touch to those many memories. It warmed my heart to see how many fellow Virginians contributed to this exhibit including the curator. An exhibit book can be found in their gift shop and would make a perfect gift for a quilter in your life! It was also a treat to view the portrait quilts - Prince, Ali, and even one of Lincoln that blew me away. Don’t forget to view the wooden quilt too. Not being able to touch it made me thankful that they had a “touch me” piece next to the quilt that helped get a feel for the large wooden quilt. I highly recommend visiting this museum when in the area.

A little disappointed. I expected to have more of a history of quilt asking. The museum consists of quilts displayed with a short write up.

Quilt displays change on a regular basis. All are beautiful and highlight the quiltmaker/artist's passion.

Nice museum with some true works of art. We were looking for something fun to do for a short visit and really enjoyed looking around at the different quilts. The staff was really friendly and we had a great time. Beware the steep incline into the parking lot - our low riding car scaped bottom!

It was an awesome exhibit especially the 9/11 tribute section. Loved the different mediums of the quilts and presentation. Pleasantly surprised and highly recommend taking a few hours of your time.

Our initial trips to the museum went well. We were able to view many many beautiful quilts and then on subsequent trips things just kind of went left. I'll not spend any more money at that "museum for the politically correct" especially when the employees and curator tell me it is "just art". Political statements in ANY form are not art. If you want to promote scams like BLM, or support the rewriting of history that is their choice but my choice, NEVER again will we visit what was once a favorite place to visit EVER!

This was a wonderful experience. My favorite was the wooden quilt displayed in a meeting room at the front of the museum.

This was my second visit to the quilt museum. I don't quilt, but come from a long line of quilters, and I appreciate the talent that is needed to accomplish these pieces. From the practical to the abstract, you will see it all and I think you will be amazed (I certainly was).

Quilting is an art, not a craft; and, this magnificent and diverse collection proves that. A wonderful way to spend a few hours. Nice staff.

Very nice the staff was great the place was very nice so glide we stopped and saw this my wife was in there 2 hours. We drove down to the river afterwords thinks to the lady’s that work there and told us about the river

This museum is a major attraction in Paducah, and is well worth the time to visit. My wife and I enjoyed looking at the meticulous workmanship and the creativity used to create the quilts on display there.
There are several rooms with different features and artists. As we looked at a display of tiny quilts, I was surprised to see one made by someone from my hometown. I asked a docent how quilts are selected for the museum, and she told me they are most often donations.
There is a nice gift shop with some quilting-related souvenirs.

I’ve always wanted to attend this museum and it didn’t disappoint. I loved reading about the two featured quilters and marveled at the quilts

Beautiful quilts. Even if you are not a quilter, you will enjoy looking at these works of art. So many talented people.

What a surprise to find the fabulous National Quilt Museum in Historic, downtown Paducah. This museum is a gem -- definitely not your grandmother's quilts. The workmanship and artistry was astounding. We almost missed this stop but it was well worth the small detour. We spent about an hour there. Adult admission was $11. When you are finished save time to walk along the nearby Tennessee River front and view the Wall to Wall murals--astounding and so educational at the same time.

The NQM was on my bucket list for many years. My best friend and I visited and were not disappointed. The quilts, the stained glass windows of quilts, the staff…everything was fantastic. We spent several hours there and were in awe of the incredible designs and handiwork of the quilt artists. The gentleman inside the exhibit room was most helpful and knowledgeable; he shared information about each quilt and answered our questions. Highly recommend!

What awesome quilts! The wooden quilt in the front is especially interesting. A must see for any quilter.

We were so fortunate to see all of these quilts with so many different styles. It was like going to an art gallery. Not just fabric but beads, netting, ribbon, remnants. The large long wall hangings were amazing. Quilts are usually used on beds but these were like paintings. One artist said her neutral color was chartreuse‼️
I would feel like royalty to sleep under such. My husband was totally surprised.

This was a bonus addition to my Hancock’s of Paducah visit! Having discovered this online I thought it would add a pleasant dalliance to the day. Pleasant is the wrong word! I was blown away by the quality of exhibits here! What an inspirational place and staff here were soooo passionate about it. I was expecting a fair share of “granny” quilts. But nothing of the sort! This was an art museum with high quality exhibits! If I lived here, I would be a regular visitor!

I'm not a quilter but I enjoy any form of art. I was very impressed with the beauty of the pieces. I am more impressed with the craftsmanship of the pieces. It's not a really big building but you can get lost in time admiring the quilts and reading the information provided with each piece. As a bonus, next to the museum is a river wall. The wall is a series of paintings and plaques showcasing the history of Paducah. Add to that a river museum just down the street. PS not solo went with my sister.

The National Quilt Museum rejected our Boking Voucher BR-1180960983 and advised us to never use a third party such as Trip Advisor Therefore I am now out $26.00 as we were refused admission. The National Quilt Museum told us that in order for them to process this that Tripadvisor had to have a Barcode, which they did not include

I can honestly say I was "lukewarm" about this attraction. I don't sew and never expected how spectacular the quilts on display were. I wish we had more time to visit the actual museum. We spent time as a group learning how to quilt and it was a wonderful experience! I can't believe I actually did it! Would LOVE to go back!

The National Quilt Museum is absolutely a must for not only quilters plus for anyone who loves art. The exhibit of quilts come from all over the U.S. and internationally. There are exhibits that represent traditional, contemporary, abstract, and miniature quilts.

Really enjoyable!! Even if you’re not that much into quilting I think anyone would appreciate the artistic value of their displays. I did kind of assume they’d have section devoted to the history of quilting since it is a museum, but everything was modern. Which was ok too, just not what I expected.

I am a quilter and this museum has always been a destination I wanted to go to. It did not disappoint. The quilts were awesome and all were labeled so you knew the story for each quilt. The people were knowledgeable and kept watch so the quilts were not touched, which is very important.

Way more interesting than I had expected. We stayed over an hour and enjoyed every minute. Several volunteers were helpful and added to the experience with their knowledge

Creativity lives here. It is amazing to see the expressions of art that is displayed within these walls. Truly it is worth the time spent here, even for a non quilter. So bring your camera and take the time to gaze at some of the most beautiful quilts in the world!

It was very interesting and the Quilts were beautiful. The work involved, intricate patterns each one saying something different. My wife's sister, enjoyed the Museum so much, so I took my wife and her remaining sister to experience it for themselves. The visit was two fold and we enjoyed immensely.

I’m not a quilter but the art of some of these exhibits was incredible!!! Look like paintings!
The docents were humble, friendly & helpful
I recommend to anyone who loves art!

Large selection of quilts to view, great variety of different techniques and mediums! I think some of the exhibits rotate so there will be something new each time. Courteous staff and clean facility! My mother is a quilter and thoroughly enjoyed her experience as did I. If you are into quilting at all, stop by! :)

The entry foyer and gift shop show other ways a quilt design can be represented.

We've been looking forward to visiting this museum for years. Finally made it, and was worth the wait. The collection's scope is quilts made after 1980, most in the U.S. with other countries represented. We couldn't pick a favorite, as the artistic styles and craftsmanship were so impressive.
An exhibit of 2' x 2' quilts from Australia was showing and interesting. Would have liked to see some Aboriginal ones, as those styles are dramatic.
If visiting, plan to see the nearby Paducah history murals on the concrete barrier by the Ohio River.

We were on our way to Nashville and decided to visit. We had seen signs before but didn’t have time to stop. If you’re a quilter you need to see these exquisite quilts from all over the world. Some really amazing work.

Yes, it is art at this level. Rotating displays so it is never the same twice. As a quilter there is serious inspiration.

We've passed the museum for many years and we stopped for the first time, they have some amazing and impressive displays of quilts, it boggles my mind how some of these are put together, the combinations and styles are endless, this is well worth a stop to see the creativity and passion people put into art

If you think you're going to see just a few quilts guess again. This is an art museum. The true craftsmanship of the quilts at this museum are incredible. The work put into these quilts is truly amazing. If you are anywhere near Paducah, KY, you must stop in and observe the brilliant art work in what appears to be a dying art.

I wasn't really looking forward to visiting this museum - my wife is the quilter; I was the plus one. As it turned out, I found the museum to be a delightful place to visit. The exhibits were impressive and very well presented, and the staff were friendly and informative.

Smaller than expected but have marvelous quilt. Handicap was a good distance from the entrance. Some of the designs did not even look like quilts, they looked like pictures.

Traveled NYS to Texas with stops at a few overnights. Unbeknownst to my husband and I we were near The National Quilt Museum! I have wanted to tour this place for years and have been envious of my cyber friends who have. Well now I can say Yes! I went to Paducah and toured the museum. It took about an hour to go through the 3 exhibit areas. The works on display were interesting, some remarkable and others that hit you in the gut for design and depth of artist’s message. I would have liked to have had the venue about 4xs larger than the space allowed for three exhibits, and more items displayed. Yes my heart went pitter patter as we walked through these beauties. Definitely worth 12$ admission.

This Museum is wondrous in that there are always changes. I love to discover what is new or where a work has been moved. Different themes and changing palettes of color are a norm. Discovery and contemplation by families, friends and visitors from all over the world. You just have to experience it for yourself.

This was our second visit to this outstanding museum. We went about 15 years ago, and returned in March 2025. All the exhibits were different (as we'd hoped), and they were fabulous. Such artistry in every quilt. Quilts from all over the world. Such variety in theme and technique. If you're a quilt lover, this place should be on your bucket list. And if you're incredibly lucky, you'll run into an enthusiastic docent like we did. He brought so much knowledge and enthusiasm to our visit, and we're grateful to him.

This is a wonderful venue to see some of the world's most outstanding quilts! The gift shop is well stocked with assorted merchandise and don't forget to look for the wooden quilt!!!

Wonderful experience! Beautiful quilts, nicely displayed. Plenty of parking for our truck and camper. You must go! Don’t miss it!

This was on our list of things to do while in Paducah. We enjoyed the visit very much. The cost to get in was $11 for seniors. I'm not sure about the other age groups. It was worth seeing the section that is in memory of 911. I was amazed at the details in all of the quilts. We went back to the start and went through it again to make sure we didn't miss any of the quilts. My husband and I were enjoying picking out our favorites. The gift shop is nice with lots of thing to bring home. I bought a small pack of fabric square to make a quilt for my doll house. They has some miniature quilts that were so beautiful. They were displayed on a dollhouse bed in the museum. You will enjoy your visit.

I heard about the museum years ago and finally was able to visit. I am NOT a sewer or quilter at all. the exhibits showed the variety of what others can do with fabric and thread and stitching. Some were standard patterns, some were a contemporary and novel approach to the standard patterns and most were a design artists vision of their ideas. Star Trek, autographs, tropical fish, race horses, NASA, and more were themes for the artists to render with their colors, fabrics and thread. They were serious, they were fun, they were thoughtful, and each one unique, one of a kind. The Museum itself is among the Top 25 museums in the South. Staff is polite and knowledgeable.

It was very interesting to see all the ideas that people had and all the hard work they had to put into them. The only thing I would have like to see is on the description of the quilt is how long did it take them to finish the quilt.

Something for everyone here! From old quilts to a Japanese art collection currently on display, there are wonders that will take your breath away. I am impressed! Even my husband liked it as there was a wooden quilt! Worth the time!

My husband was with me and he even commented on several and remarked about the hand quilted vs machine quilted. We both love the museum. I thought there might be some antique quilts but that's OK. Lots to look at and read about each exhibit.

While being a guy and not into quilts this place is a must see. The different style quilts from all over the world was amazing. Really enjoyed the ones from Japan. This is a great place to visit. Staff was extremely and wanted to tell you all about the quilts.

We stopped overnight in Paducah en route from Louisville to Memphis, and thought we may as well look at the Quilt Museum. We were truly amazed by the exhibition of stunning quilts, so detailed and so imaginative. It was also much bigger than I'd imagined. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

I am not a quilter but I can appreciate art and these are absolutely amazing works of art! I can hardly believe human hands created some of these on display! Definitely worth a visit!

This is an amazing place. There are quilts from all over the world and they are all different but by world-class quilters. I am not a quilter myself but I have several friends that are and I sure wish I could blink them here. They would absolutely love it. If you are anywhere close you need to just wander through and give this place one hour of your time. AMAZING!

This museum has an amazing collection of quilts of all types. I loved the Beatles quilt! They had two traveling exhibits that were wonderful. The West African quilts were amazing. Their gift shop was great too.

This Museum is home to quilts made by so many nationally known quilters for years. Their collection spans years of artistic quilt creations and can give a great overview of the contemporary quilting movement. The quilts are displayed in a way to elevate quilts as a modern art movement and recently allows photography in the Museum in a way that all great Museums do. For those who do not quilt, I believe it will amaze and inform them about what a quilt can aspire to be. For those who do quilt, it shows the best of the best over a span of years so you can see the evolution of modern quilting.

This museum is fabulous. I'm a guy and not a quilter but the quilts on display were incredible. They had about 75 on display and so many of them were simply works of art. Highly recommended for both quilters and non quilters alike.

I recently visited the Quilt Museum while in Paducah for the Spring Quilt Show. The current exhibit features the Best-of-Show quilts from the the past 35 years. There are other treasures as well. The exhibit was breathtaking and was the highlight of my trip. I wish I lived closer so that I could visit the museum on a regular basis. Do not miss this exhibit!

Great museum with an awesome display of quilts both old & new. The admission is reasonable & their quilt displays are to be seen! Whenever we're here in town we make it a point to stop in as they always have new quilts on display.

Interesting mix of old and new quilts in a museum setting. Expected more in terms of size of the museum and exhibits and if yo are in the area or passing through its ok but it is not a destination site due to its location.

We intentionally chose Paducah to visit this museum. It was very nice, and worth the stop. We personally found that 2 hours was plenty of time.

Was great I visit there in April for the past 3 years, the Quilt Show is great. We also explore the town.

Casual friendly and beautiful!!! I want to go home and see more!! Take your time, plenty of parking and you are allowed photos without flash!

I was expecting to walk through an exhibit of Grandma’s quilts. I was truly amazed to find nearly a hundred unique works of intricately crafted pieces of art. These quilts, stained glass pieces and other sculptures are so painstakingly created, you will find yourself spending more than hour carefully studying the stitching, embroidery and appliqué of these beautiful quilts. Don’t miss this wonderful museum!

My wife is a quilter and we finally got to visit this museum. There are so many marvellous quilts in this wide-ranging display. Such talent!! The museum does rotate the display of quilts If there is a particular quilter call ahead. They might be able to pull a quilt our for you. They do offer a tour and the tour guide is very knowledgeable about the quilts and quilting techniques.

Wonderful quilts on display. They have rotating exhibits so you can see different quilts. All the staff is very knowledgable. Take the guided you if you can.

I believe everyone stopping in Paducah should visit this museum..it's like an art gallery only better..each quilt is a work of art and so extremely well done.. my friends and I were oohing and aahing the whole time there..they have a 9/11 display plus pandemic display but my favorite was quilt pictures of ancient stones of Ireland ..

The modern quilts in this museum are so beautiful and artistic. It was not what I was expecting. Not kitschy at all. We were so pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed our visit and seeing the amazing art done in fabric and stitching.

There were so many quilts that seemed hard to believe were quilts. I enjoyed the displays. It seemed like there would be more to see given the size of the building. I went with a friend who was not so interested so I would recommend letting them sit and wait for you in the nice lobby while you take a look. If you are in the neighborhood it is worth a look.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about the exhibits and offers some wonderful information. The exhibits are outstanding. Seeing the stitching and intricacies up close is very worth it. We will definitely return.

Really interesting and I'm not even a quilter! A lot to look at and enjoy. Something for everyone's taste in fiber arts.

While we are not quilters personally, we know several and certainly appreciated seeing the vast array of colors and styles, ideas, creativity and talent on display. The staff was extremely welcoming, the docent was delightful and informative. The two special exhibits - Ireland stones and quarantine quilts - really impressed us. It was well worth our time and money.

This museum is misnamed. It's not a quilt museum but a fiber art museum. I like antique, traditional quilts, especially those that are hand done. Unfortunately, NONE were on display. Dozens of wall hangings created by textile artists were. While I appreciated the time involved in the creations, they were not what I consider "quilts".

I loved this place and took the little tour they do there.
Fabulous quilts on display and worth the visit for any quilter or someone interested in craft.

Beautiful handmade quilts--we will visit again! The 9-11 exhibit was especially meaningful. Even my husband enjoyed it.

If you are looking for old quilts of hundred or more years old, this is not the place to go. BUT, if you want to see some wonderful quilts made in ways I've not seen before then you must visit this museum. Lots to see. When you are done with the museum there are other things to do in the area.

My wife had this museum on her priority list on our vacation. Obviously she is an avid quilter. The museum has rotating exhibits through the year. In May the exhibits were from Japan. This exhibit is not exactly what she was expecting but thought it was interesting. She enjoyed her visit but wasn’t in there as long as I thought she would be. Will visit again next time we pass through Paducah.

This is just an amazing experience. The quilts are beyond beautiful and the craftsmanship makes you look closely. Some are so beautiful you wonder if it isn’t a photo!

If you are in the area or like different types of quilts you may enjoy this. It was very unusual types of quilts, some are painted some are different shapes and there are actually ones made of wood. These are not your typical type of quilts at all.

There were so many beautiful quilts. Don't miss the quilt made out of wood. It is worth the trip just for that one. The employees there went out of their way to make a great visit even better. They showed us around and explained things to us. Check out the difference a quilt looks like through a camera lens. Wow. nice gift shop too.

Beautiful quilts on display! Award winners everywhere of all types and sizes. No pictures allowed inside, so buy a book if you want to keep the memories alive in the museum gift shop. During the quilt show they have demonstrations of quiltmaking outside the front entrance.

Quilts were amazing. Loved the space and displays. People are incredibly friendly and helpful. Each quilt is a work of art.

These quilts were amazingl They are enjoyable to both look at and to learn about. Even the kids had fun!

As a quilter this is one of the places that I have always wanted to visit. I enjoyed the multiple exhibits in the space and walking around in downtown Paducah. The staff was very nice. The space is open and spacious enough that on most days you won't really have a too many spectators problem to be able to see all the art on the walls. Loved the mini exhibit and the wood quilt( the nerd in me found the story behind this one to be fascinating.

From start to finish I had a wonderful experience - everyone was helpful and engaging. Had a fun discussion when I purchased my ticket - very personable and helpful.

We were impressed with the number and especially the Quality of the quilts that were on display here! Besides their center gallery, there are also two other galleries of traveling exhibits. We saw the "Fly Me to the Moon" exhibit and the Van Gogh exhibit. These two exhibits consisted of many one-block interpretations on the themes. Wow! It was obvious that the quilters werre very knowledgeable with the subject matter that they were interpreting! We were also impressed that the display changes as quilts are rotated every few months, so another visit would be different things to see! While I was at first dissapointed that I couldn't take any pictures, I do understand the reasons why. I will just have to remember them in my memory.

My companion is a long time Quilter, I was interested in visiting this place, of which her quilting friends speak of with such reverence. I enjoyed the visit, there are explanations throughout the exhibit area, which explain the quilts, and their significance.

This is more than a quilt museum, it is an art museum. The quilts on display are an amazing display of creativity, artistry, patience and love of this art form. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. If you are a quilter, plan to be here a while. If you aren't a quilter, but just appreciate the ability people have to make them...you are in for a treat as well. Very well done, very clean and helpful folks to make your visit enjoyable.

The quilt museum was fantastic, and the people who worked or volunteered there were very friendly and helpful. Take your time strolling through the exhibits and marvel at the imagination and talent on display! You don’t have to be a quilter to appreciate these works of art.

Wonderful, beautiful, inspiring afternoon. Would recommend everyone who appreciates art to visit this museum.

Beautiful quilts on display. Some are truly stunning in quality of workmanship. Chairs distributed in museum for those inclined to sit to further study individual quilt. Gift shop has lots to offer. However, it was clearly apparent that the tour guide did not know much about various quilting techniques, and it is a shame that bad information was delivered. Great statues of Lewis and Clark in front lawn.

I was impressed with the variety and quality of the quilts. I'm not a quilter, but I could appreciate the amazing art.

Excited to check this one off the bucket list. As an avid quilter I couldn’t wait to get to the quilt museum. You won’t be disappointed even if you don’t “a great place to stop!

Amazing displays of a good variety of styles. Spent almost 3 hours and it was well worth the stop. Don't miss the wood quilt in the conference room or the gift shop. Will visit again!

It’s strategic location makes it a Must See, and it has very friendly staff!
Sadly they were out of Monkey’s Eyebrow and Possum Trot
T-Shirts when we were there.

There are so many amazing quilts in the NQM. Some of them are so intricately pieced together that I can see why it would take months or years to make these quilts. The creativity in the designs fascinated me. The museum store had a nice variety of gifts. It was certainly worth the trip to Paducah.

My husband and I visited the first week in April. The featured collection was HER STORY. This featured quilts paying homage to women who made history. The quilts were amazing. The face of Betty White was so life-like you could almost hear her laugh. Eleanor Roosevelt’s tribute was done so well it almost looked like a photograph.

I am not a quilter but appreciate the beauty of them and the work that goes into producing one. With that said, it only took us about an hour to tour the museum. Maybe if you are a quilter and want to study the design and detail of them, it would take longer to go through.

I have followed the quilt museum for a long time. First in magazines then via Facebook and Instagram. I finally had the opportunity to visit when I was in the area visiting a friend.
I was not disappointed. It is truly an art museum with fabric and thread as the artist(s) medium. There are traveling displays. And a very nice gift shop as well.
I hope to come back again someday. Paducah is such a nice town- also home to many nice shops and restaurants.

Anyone who appreciates the art of quilting will enjoy this museum. It houses some incredible pieces from all across the country. The colors, designs and intricate stitch work are awe inspiring. There are four galleries which house different exhibits of various themes. It takes about an hour to go through. This museum is a hidden gem and definately worth the stop!

A place that was on our bucket list. We did the guided tour which we found a great deal on Groupon for. Lady was very knowledgeable and saw a lot of quilts! Wish we could have taken pictures but I understand! Check out the wooden quilt! My favorite

Awesome works of art done on quilts. Top quality very colorful intricate quilts. Friendly staff. Easy to find.

Amazing art quilts! The skill and talent shown is mind - boggling! I was, however, quite surprised there were no antique or traditional quilts. I would have LOVED to see examples of quilts as they pertain to local history.

There were so many stunning quilts here from all periods of history. It was really a shame that they didn't allow photography.

First off, I will admit I am not a quilter. However, the quilts on display during our visit were amazing pieces of work! They had a large room full of school kid competition pieces and the other large area housed the museum pieces. These quilts were real works of art. This museum is smaller than I expected and we were done in about a half hour. There is a gift shop here, too. Enjoyable stop but I do wish there had been more to see for the price.

The ladies had this as a must see. Lots of talent evident with these works of art. If you have ladies in your group, most will want to see this museum.

Great place to visit, really shows off the handiwork of ladies who have poured such love and attention to detail into their quilting.

Always changing the exhibits, so new each visit. Very well done and, while seeing that’s it is quilts, one is surprised by the artistic quality of these modern quilts from all over the world. The Japanese exhibits were beautiful!

Even if you are not a quilter, if you appreciate and enjoy art this is a place not to be missed. The exhibits are from many different places in the world and show how creative and talented a person can be with textile techniques that you may have never seen before. Currently there is a Chinese exhibit called "Love Stories" with items that have been stamped and indigo dyed - a technique that is hundreds of years old. Also the exhibit from Africa is so impressive that some of the quilts look almost like photographs! Something for everyone to enjoy.

Well worth the time . It was very interesting and the quilts were beautiful. The people working here are very knowledgeable.

My wife really wanted to visit this museum on our way home, and I'm so glad we did! Great works of art!

I started quilting a few months and decided to make a 'pilgrimage' to this center of Quilt Art. My friend Beth and I are quilters and our spouses got dragged along. The beauty, artistry and superb craftsmanship of the quilts was appreciated by quilters and non-quilters alike. I am hoping to go back again next year as I understand they are frequently changing their displays.

Outstanding display of various quilts and quilting techniques. Displays beautifully hung..interesting subjects. Great variety.

I was extremely lucky to view all the beautiful quilts and I’m so thankful for the ladies and men who have spent so many hours and love in their beautiful quilts! Words can’t describe the beautiful quilts. It’s something you have to experience if you’re a quilter!

I really appreciated the large selection of beautiful quilts. The people who support the museum were very knowledgeable and very dedicated to giving you the best information on the history of the quilts.

We visited the museum and enjoyed the entire experience. Staff were friendly and the exhibits were great, especially the temporary exhibit of quilts by Danny Amazona. We also enjoyed selections from the museum's collection--many old favorites were hanging. The gift shop also had a nice selection of quilt related items and other crafts for sale. This is definitely worth a special trip. The museum is also walking distance from a number of restaurants, the flood wall murals and other attractions and shops.

Surprised that quilts could look exactly like artwork. Used to the traditional ones. Was $13 for seniors and took us about an hour. Spent more time at some than others. Beautiful artistry.

The exhibit was very thought provoking. Enjoyed the visit. Staff were very welcoming and warm. Easy to find and parking close to building. Nice gift shop.

The employees and volunteers were friendly and eager to share their knowledge of the current quilts on display. I visited specifically to see the work of Victoria Findlay Wolfe and Danny Amazonas, the work was quite beautiful. The exhibits were will laid out, plenty of space to move through and not be in the way of another visitor. I would recommend this museum to almost anyone, although small children might lose interest quickly.

I am a quilter and dragged my husband to museum. He loved it! The quilts are soooo good it’s hard to believe

We visited the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY and saw some beautiful and detailed Quilts that you can find nowhere else in the United States. When you are in Paducah, Ky this Quilt museum is a must see. As you walk around and look at the Quilts, you have no idea how many hours each one of these Quilts took to create an then finish. They even have a wood quilt. They also had a display of Quilts made by Children in the Museum. This 25+ year Museum has many Quilt collections which are traveling around the United States come in for weeks or months for people to see.

Museum implies some historical content. Nothing historical was in the museum. Only two quilts were hand quilted. Why do they get to call this a NATIONAL”? If you only like machine quilting with no organized piecing, then you might enjoy.

On our way to the east coast we stopped off at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky. We only stayed long enough for a short tour and to grab some stuff from their gift shop. Everyone there was customer friendly and the exhibits nice. They also have some Lewis & Clark Expedition statues on their campus.

Docents were helpful without being intrusive. The number and variety of quilts on display was phenomenal

Great quilt display. Well laidout very easy to walk around. Friendly and helpful staff willing to answer any questions.

unless you are an avid quilter this is not worth the price of admission. $11 for seniors just to walk around and look at quilts is way overpriced. would be ok if price were lowered.

I dragged the husband to see the museum not knowing what to expect and a bit put off by the fact you cannot take photographs of the quilts. Then, we understood why: copyrights of the quilters, real artists. There is a permanent collection and a rotating one. The quilt with the NASA missions took our breath away. Nice gift shop. A great artistic way to spend 90 minutes. If you have time, it is worth spending a little bit more to have a guided tour. We did the self-guided tour and the quilts’ individual descriptions with the artist statements were very helpful. This trip has enhanced my appreciation for quilts.

This museum has a unique collection of beautiful works of art. Quilting has become a sophisticated art form and the colors, the high level skill and dedication to an avocation is mind bending. There isn't much else to do in Paducah, except the murals depicting the history of Paducah which are near the museum; it took about 30-40 minutes to read and see them. But if you are on your way to somewhere else, make the time to go to this impressive and very affordable attraction.

If you're even the least bit interested in fiber arts you definitely need to visit the National Quilt Museum. My husband thought he would make a cursory pass through and find a place to sit. Instead he was just as fascinated as was I. The quilts were beautiful and displayed in such a way that one can appreciate each piece.

Better than expected. The only improvement I would suggest is an educational area describing the different blocking methods and process of traditional quilting for us non quilters

What a historic place to go, and the quilts are amazing art works….had no idea it was this good…..I was thrilled to see the
Miniature quilts too.

The quilt museum is amazing and awe-inspiring. The pieces are art, regardless of whether you quilt or not. For those who quilt, they are inspirational.

This was s wonderful museum . Several couples went. We knew that the gals who sew would like it but even the husbands enjoyed the trip.
This is more like art than just quilts
Everyone was very nice and helpful.
They even have ugly samples that you can touch !

As a fairly new quilter, I wanted to visit the Museum for inspiration. I left quite humbled, immeasurably impressed, and more than a tad intimidated by the level of talent displayed.
The variety of technique and the rotating displays made things interesting. The art of quilting certainly has a special place in the art world. The use of textiles to create dimension, texture, and emotion is fascinating.
Anyone who appreciates art -- and definitely anyone who crafts or sews -- should have this on their bucket list.

The ladies there were very informative, they answered any question we had and was more that glad to share their information, they did not make us feel that we were bothering them. The quilts that were on display were amazing to say the least. I wish there had been a bit more to see, it only took about an hour to stroll thru. Over all it was worth the stop. (1$ off card at our hotel, and also welcome center.)

Paducah is fortune to have such a gem to draw visitors from far and wide
There are changing exhibitions along with a permanent collection -plenty of parking and a gift shop too
An hour would suffice for most folks to visit

An amazing collection of Art - it was much more impressive than I anticipated. My wife is a quilter and I thought this would be a treat for her but it turned out to be a fabulous experience. I was immensely impressed with the quality of the collection and the quilt work. This is truly a world-class museum in the Northwest corner of Kentucky.

I went around the time when they had they're 9/11 quilts up. Amazing experience, had detailed stories for each quilt. Was also a very calming area to be in, it was quiet and gave off cozy warm vibes.

We have gone to Paducah at least once a year for well over a dozen years for the sole purpose of visiting the National Quilt Museum. Although the museum usually exhibits some precious antique quilts, the primary focus is on art quilts which are, by any measure, absolutely awesome, mind-bending works of art. We can stand before some for a quarter of an hour or more admiring them. It seems almost impossible that quilt artists can express their talents so artfully, so vividly, so colorfully, so skillfully. If you enjoy art of any kind, you must visit this museum. You will be blown away.

My first visit was in 2016 and I enjoyed the traditional and art quilts. This second visit showed a Moda competition based on the oak leaf pattern and I didn’t find it enjoyable (subjective). Most everything in the museum this time was needle-turned appliqué. I wish they would present several sections of all different types of quilting, old and new. I’ll visit again and look forward to new displays.

This is a don't-miss place for anyone who appreciates fine craftsmanship, not just quilters. The quilts are exquisite and are true works of art.

Many varieties of quilts. A great place to learn a little history. Beautiful displays. Wish we had had more time.

We saw the Fly Me To The Moon exhibit and it was beautiful. All the quilts displayed at this museum are awe inspiring. The creativity is unbelievable. The docents are very helpful and informative. There is seating for one to sit and admire the quilts.

Even if you aren’t a quilter, this museum is a must see. They have several permanent pieces, but also have rotating displays. The craftsmanship is absolutely amazing! The variety includes miniature quilts to full sized quilts, quilted clothing and “sculptures”. Beyond traditional quilts and quilting techniques, they have several quilts which could almost be described as paintings done with fabric. The contributors have unbelievable talent!

After passing by the interstate road sign many times over the years we finally made it a point to stop at the National Quilt Museum. With museum in the title I assumed there would be some history presented about quilts and as collector of vintage quilts looked forward to learning more about them. We were disappointed to learn it leans more towards being an exhibit rather than a museum with many pieces being less than 30 years old. While we appreciated the talent required in the making of the quilts, I have to say I left disappointed and feel the name National Quilt Exhibit would be more accurate.

This was an experience that brought out a appreciation for the artwork in these quilts. Some of the quilts takes years to make. It was a great tour and I will be back again.

Worth the trip from MN to KY. Absolutely wonderful. Friendly helping people. The displays were out of this world. We enjoyed our visit to the fullest.

Recently we visited the National Quilt Museum in Paducah Kentucky while on a river cruise with the American Queen Steamboat Company. The place is amazing!! There are all types of quilts; hand made, machine made, optical illusions, and all sizes including one that is 30’ long.
The workmanship is incredible and the subjects and patterns are very interesting. There is even a quilt made of wood - a must see!!
The staff is very friendly and helpful and the building is completely handicap accessible. We spent almost two hours there and did not see everything. We cannot wait to go back.

So amazing! Anyone who has an interest in any type of art should see this display of the most beautiful fabric artwork anywhere!

I visit several times each year for new exhibits as my job takes me through the area. I didn’t grow up with quilts but came to them 4 years ago. You can see fantastic works of art, get close enough to admire the craftsmanship in the details and now take photos without a flash. There is a wooden quilt in a room off the Libby that shouldn’t be missed and a nice gift shop with many books and DVDs. Don’t miss it if you are in the area.

I am a person who does not quilt and I absolutely loved the museum. We spent about an hour going from room to room. It is a must see in Paducah, KY.

This is a destination - even when it's not Quilt Week! This museum has the best exhibits of new (as opposed to historic) quilts. Amazing! I wish I could visit more often.

I was expecting quilts from around the USA but they also had quilts from different countries. Some were beautiful. I had never seen any in the "Pine Cone" method. I enjoyed reading the "Herstory " articles by the quilts done about famous women. I had told my wife if we were ever in the area again we would stop by. It was well worth the stop.

Amazing, must see, take your time to really read the stories behind the quilts. This place is incredible!

A lovely museum with a great selection of 30’s quilts with patterns from the local
Newspaper, beautiful exhibition of modern
Quilts with fabrics from kaffe fasset.
It also has a well stocked gift shop with fabrics and little panels of quilt paintings.
I spend an easy afternoon.

If I could give this museum more circles, I would. It far exceeded our expectations. The quilts are all modern which means they were made in the 1980’s and later.
They are works of art in every sense of the word. Creative and beautiful as well as being technically challenging to make.
The docents were friendly and answered all the questions we could think of.
We were there for two hours and could have stayed longer. You want to allow a minimum of an hour and preference longer to see this very special museum.

One of my best friends and I decided to have a girls’ weekend, so we met in Paducah, KY. The quilt museum was our main reason for going to Paducah, and we were pleasantly surprised by how interesting and how visually exciting the museum was! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and entertained any and all questions from the novice gallery. The quilts themselves were so exquisite, and literal works of art! My friend and I did not realize how many different classifications there were for quilts, and felt that we were subtly educated while enjoying the fabulous visual presentation! There was also a man cave for male enthusiasts, which was very appealing to the men that did the tour. If you appreciate any type of crafting, art, sewing, workmanship, etc. this museum is for you!

I am certainly not sorry I took the time and made the drive to the quilt museum. However, the museum is quite small and I don't think it encompasses the wide range of quilting techniques. For the most part, the quilts are wall tapestries - intricately appliqued, beaded and machine quilted. Beautiful works of art. However, I don't think American Pieced Patchwork quilting is represented at the museum at all. I thought the admission price was steep considering the size of the collection and the lack of information describing the techniques for each piece. I guess the bottom line is....I am glad I went to see it...but have no desire to return. However, quaint downtown Paducah could be a wonderful day trip just to investigate the area.

I thoroughly enjoyed looking at and reading about the artists' inspiration for these beautiful and amazing pieces of art. Though there was a lovely docent available, eager to answer questions, I felt the Museum "missed" the opportunity to educate those of us who are not quilters and have no prior knowledge of the terms of art and techniques used in the craft. A short introductory video to quilt making; its history, the classical patterns used, the evolution of the techniques, would have been so helpful and appreciated. I hope the NQM will consider this suggestion as they continue to grow.

Drove for 3.5 hours and had prepaid reservations only to find it closed for renovations. Should have been mentioned on the website and should not be selling tickets that I now have to figure out how to refund.

This is a "must" stop each time we drive to/from Florida. Exhibits are excellent, guides very good, and gift shop is a gem.

I am from UK and am what I might call an intermediate quilter, wanting to move on to contemporary art quilting. Just gobsmacked with the meticulous quilting and the creative design. True works of art. As my time was limited and I wanted to get the most out of my experience I decided to have a guided tour. Thank you Debbie McCracken you were brilliant.

We did the self guided tour and we were there for about 1 1/2 hours. It was a very nice cross section of traditional quilts with contemporary and hand quilted and appliqued quilts. easy check in and good parking. Enjoyed reading the comments by the creator's of the quilts and get some of the history behind why they chose their particular pattern. A must see for an art lover of all types. It is also only one block from shops and restaurants.

Never ever in my life can I believe what I saw. The quilts are something else. Talent, Talent, Talent. So time consuming. One lady said it took 5 years to create one quilt. This will not disappoint. My husband was WOWED!!!

Staff was rude. This is not a museum but instead an overpriced art gallery. There was no historical information or informative exhibits.

Enjoyed this museum. It was very interesting looking at the quilts. Some looked like art pictures instead of quilts. It was just amazing the details. This is probably not for someone that is not into quilting but my mom and I enjoyed it very much. We spend almost 2 hours looking at all the quilts on display. They did not have anything special going on there the day we went so it was just the quilts in the actual museum that you see. They have a nice little gift shop on site also.

If you are not a quilter, visit this as an art museum. The work is unbelievable. If you are a quilter, visit to view the detail and workmanship.

Awesome quilts displayed in a beautiful facility. The volunteer guides were available without being obtrusive and were very knowledgeable

WOW, this place is awesome, some very talented people who submitted there work. I am a guy and I went with my wife for our 30th anniversary and I enjoyed myself very much.

Disappointing. So much more could be done with this concept. Much more of an art exhibit than homespun make do with fabrics at home. While the materials displayed are gorgeous the average quilter, or owner of a quilt, cannot relate to what is displayed. There are only about 50 quilts on display, a huge percentage done by professionals. Also, there is nothing about how the quilts were made, sewing techniques, tools or implement used, demonstrations, videos. For being the NATIONAL quilt museum two f the three large exhibits featured an artist from the UK and Japan.

My husband is very disappointed for taking me to see quilts here because there were not any quilts there…..in the traditional sense. If you want to see an artist painting on canvas that has been machine quilted then this is the place for you…not me. Would have given this negative 5 stars but not an option. Save your $12.00 ea and go to Amish country just a few min away.

I have family that have hand sewn quilts, and I have a great appreciation. I have also made a couple of simple lap quilts. This was on our way from southern Illinois to Nashville and we thought we’d give it a try. Student admission was only 5.00, and my boyfriend got in free for the month of November as a veteran. The price was right and the quilts were amazing. We experienced everything from “art” and functional quilts to tiny quilts for miniature beds. There was something for everyone with an appreciation for detail and creativity. I would recommend for a couple hr break in your travels.

A wooden quilt ? Quilted Irish Stones ?? This is not just a quilt museum ... it is so much more. The staff was delightful, helpful, knowledgeable, and very proud of their museum. So many people from our American Duchess excursion said they were not quilters...but they thoroughly loved this museum. We did too. Oh yes...the many quilts there are outstanding.

We visited the quilt museum today, and the colors and craftsmanship on display are truly awe-inspiring! The Japanese quilts featured right now showcased intricate beadwork and applique, plus unique subjects. Moving on to other areas, we were fascinated with the metallic thread work and teeny hand quilting stitches in the collection of miniature and full size quilts by American quilt masters. The Her Story exhibit was also quite interesting, as it featured smaller pieces dedicated to those women who have inspired us. Even my husband perused the quilt displays in awed silence! Definitely worth a visit especially if you are a quilter!

I am not a quilter but these pieces were amazing. Really works of art. The creativity and imagination involved in making these pieces are incredible. Not what you think of when most people think of quilts. Ample parking and friendly and knowledgeable staff.

No matter how short your visit might be !! This place is SPECTACULAR- such lovely art !! Worth the detour ❣️❣️

I don't sew; but I do appreciate finely done artwork. Both my husband and I marveled at the contemporary nature of many of the quilts, and had to get up close to convince ourselves that some of them were not paintings. Make sure you see the wooden quilt in the conference room. It is amazing as well. Parking is easy right across the street from the museum. There was even room for our large RV and truck.

As a quilter, I have long looked forward to going to the National Quilt Museum, but I was totally overwhelmed by the quality of the collection at this museum. These quilts represent the highest workmanship of the art of quilting. They display a rotating part of their permanent collection as well as having traveling themed displays. There are docents who can answer your questions and tell you about the museum and its collection, procedures, etc. You don't have to be a quilter to appreciate these quilts, the designs and attention to detail will impress all. I will be going back to Paducah for sure. And from Maine, that's a bit of a hike. If you are a quilter, a visit to this Museum will up your game for sure. Inspiration everywhere. There is a nice gift shop, too.

Inspirational. If you are a quilter, allow at least 2 hours to fully examine all the quilts. Seats where you can see quilts. small gift shop, no cafe.

Oh my goodness! I guess I was expecting a “quilt show.” What they have is an actual ART Museum! Outstanding! Would love to bring my daughter to this. I highly recommend a visit. I’m not a quilter, but my mother is so I accompanied her on a recent visit. I am blown away!

OMG! For almost 30 years we’ve been driving up and down I-24 and seeing the signs for the National Quilt Museum. Today, we decided to stop and I am so glad we did! We were expecting to see your average Americana quilt that your Grandma made, but were we ever surprised. This is an art museum! Each quilt was a work of art, expertly crafted by an inspired artist. I especially loved the special exhibit of Danny Amazonas. This museum is a MUST-SEE and I will be back to enjoy more works of art. P.S. I am not a quilter, lol.

Not a mesuem by any stretch of the imagination. Nothing older than about 25 years, no displays concerning historys or techniques. Really just a small gallery with a few nice pieces on display. A bit over priced for what you get. Not photography allowed.

I consider this a must do if any where near Paducah. I'm not a quilter but am stunned at what some people are able to do. The work involved is amazing.

It's hard to realize that you are looking at quilts instead of works of art by famous painters. The admission is well worth it for anyone that sews or quilts. They feature various size quilts displayed professionally in a temperature controlled environment. One must get very close to see the workmanship but please do not touch! Pictures are allowed but no flash please.

I brought my mom to Paducah for the weekend with this being the highlight our trip. We enjoyed the museum and the display set up is very well arranged. Enough quilts to spend some time looking at and reading about but no so many you lose focus on the details. We will return for sure.

Our first visit to the National Quilt Museum was awe inspiring. The artistry was incredible, the human rights quilt were incredibly beautiful, but even more thought provoking. I look forward too our next visit. The fact that the change out quilts makes it a definite repeat visit.

An amazing display of classic, historic, & modern quilts. Curator finds quite a mix for varying interests.
Museum has a permanent collection as well as visiting galleries.
The ‘Swing Jackets, ‘ all created by the same African American artist, depicts cultural stories & the struggles of her people.
Definitely worth a visit!

The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Ky., exhibits some of the world’s finest fabric arts in a comfortable, modern setting. Each item is exhibited with enough space to view and appreciate the entire work. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to talk about the exhibits. The museum is easy to get to with numerous local dining options nearby. We have been to world-class museums in New York and Washington as well as the Frist Museum in Nashville, and the National Quilt Museum ranks with the best of them.

In quilt form. Every one is mind expanding! These are beautiful text him he’ll creations and you will not believe when you get up close to them how amazing they are.

I had been wanting to visit this museum as I am most interested in learning how to quilt and I enjoy looking at quilts. This museum did not disappoint, particularly since it has a special Kaffe Fassett quilt exhibit in honor of his 85 birthday that runs until July 8, 2023. There were also several other interesting special exhibits as wells as remarkable pieces from the museum's permanent exhibit that it rotates every three or four months.

This museum is one not to miss. Even your husband will like and appreciate the quilts (mine did!). Currently there is a Quilts of Valor Exhibit that has quilts representing some of the states with different patterns, but there are some “old glories” quilt tops that have been a family for generations, that were never quilted. Now they have been by Military Members or family. The permanent exhibit quilts are exquisite, you will be astounded by their design and quilting. One of my favorite sections was “OH WOW” which had an amazing collection of miniature quilts. The talent in that building was amazing. Don’t miss the wooden “quilt” in the conference room. You will not believe it is not made of cloth!

I have to admit that if given the option of joining my wife and family to visit this museum or going to the dentist, I would have gladly had a tooth drilled! What a mistake that would have been! Within a few minutes of viewing these quilts I was totally mesmerized.
I think we spent at least 2 hours here and I didn't want to leave! A lady volunteer answered our many questions very knowledgeably and added to our experience.
If you visit Paducah you must visit this museum. Definitely worth the effort!

This was my first visit in many years. I had forgotten what beautiful pieces could be created in this medium. In addition to their regular collection they had 35 pieces from Japan and a gallery of small quilted pieces depicting influential women in history. Admission was $12 or $16 for a guided tour. I definitely got $12 worth of joy from my visit.

I’m not a quilter but love art of all types. The quilt museum has a beautiful array of quilts created by true artists. A variety of styles, both modern and historical, are represented here. A very inspirational place! We visited on a Sunday afternoon-not crowded at all. I would recommend the guided tour too-a few dollars more but would definitely give additional info to enhance your visit.

Two couples traveling to Nashville with this stop a request of the women, and eye rolling by the men. . .but, everyone was enthralled with these must see masterpieces. Be sure you get up close to see all the intricacies. It takes only an hour at most, and well worth the trip.

Went to Paducah just to go to this museum. It was well worth the time and effort to head off the freeway and go into town. The museum had a fantastic exhibit of a wide array of art quilts. It included a wide range of conceptual art as well as more standard quilt themes. If the idea of just looking at quilts doesn't seem appealing I would try and definitely persuade you to consider this a trip worth taking. It's more of an art museum with outstanding pieces and traveling shows. I think anyone would find something here to enjoy from kids to grandparents. And surprisingly it's in Paducah which has really come back around as a hidden gem. Definitely a must see!

As a quilter for 30 years, it was a long-time dream to visit this museum. The stain-glass windows were so beautiful. Once inside I was excited to see an award winning quilt made by a friend, Pat Holly. It is exquisite! I loved the HERstory exhibit. So many small quilts, each highlighting a woman who has contributed something special to our world. I was impressed with the creativety and detail of all the quilts

Very disappointed when I was there before some years back, the area was filled
with hundreds of quilts and was so fascinating to look at each one I planned a
trip back with a quilting friend to find a area filled with samples and no big bed
quilts It took us thirty minutes to look at everything there All of the them were
machine quilted and most of the samples were from out of the United States

It's a beautiful place filled with some of the most gorgeous quilts I've ever seen. Presentation, lighting, and information plaques were all well done. The docents were passionate about the pieces and offered helpful information. There were family groups and avid quilters in attendance. Fun to see all age groups enjoying the exhibits.
I was surprised with the Gift Shop: huge variety of high-quality items at all price points.
Note: We planned 2-3 hours for our visit. It was not enough time.

There are so many truly unique quilts, designs, and gift shop items. The miniature quilts and the Very Old quilts were just amazing!

I have to admit that I was less that enthusiastic when my wife suggested we tour the quilt museum in Paducah. But the place really changed my mind. The quilts on display there are pure works of art, some with details that boggle the mind. Add in a very nice facility and a helpful staff and you have a winning combination. No matter what your preconceived notions are about quilts, you owe it to yourself to see this museum.

Museum is curated well. The "Tribute to the Civil Rights Movement:Quilted Swing Coats" exhibit was our favorite. The way they were displayed and told their story were exceptional. The museum was smaller than we expected, but overall worth a visit, especially for quilters.

You do not have to be a quilter, know a quilter or even be in love with quilts to enjoy this museum. It is a spectacular art museum where the art medium is fabric. This place has a wonderful display of contemporary quilts that a truly works of art. Some are hand-stitched, others machine-stitched. Some are small 12-inch mini-quilts, others are king-sized. My husband put up his obligatory whine "A quilt museum???" before going but even he ranted and raved about the works of art housed there. Given the breadth of the collection, quilts are frequently rotated into and out of display, meaning that return visits guarantee something new to see. You can take a guided tour where they provide additional expert information about the quilts on display or you can take a self-guided tour, which is what we did. Just a heads up: they do not allow photography due to the fact that these pieces are copyrighted and thus protected under copyright laws. Very understandable, though I so wanted pictures of my favorites. The gift shop has a reasonably-priced catalog book of their collection so that's the next best thing. We spent over two hours here and we could have stayed a little longer if there'd been a place on-site to grab a beverage and take a break. I noticed that they had wheelchairs available for guests with more limited mobility; very thoughtful! This museum is most definitely on my list of places to re-visit!

This was unique enough to interest us on cold fall morning. I am definitely not a quilter, but I found this museum to quite interesting & unique. The artistry of the quilts on display was amazing. Each quilt was accompanied by a plaque describing piece often the technique used. Pleasantly surprised by this unique museum.

Awesome museum with quilts I never imagined. Friendly staff and nice gift shop too. Parking is convenient to the museum.

All six of us visiting from varied parts of the US really enjoyed the Quilt Museum. None of us were quilters.
Unique. Terrific quilts.
Highly recommended,

This was amazing, and we will return soon. As a new quilter, I was beyond amazed at the art I saw.
Suggestions for visitors: If you live within commuting distance, buy the yearly family pass. Two visits and you save money. It includes tour time, so take advantage of that. We hooked up with the tour guide who was a fountain of information.
Special exhibits included one on social justice. This was so powerful and moving that it brought tears to my eyes.
Parking was easy and plentiful. No need to park anywhere else. We also wandered the wall and riverwalk, along with several other sites. A Saturday in February meant much was closed, but what was open was easily accessible.
As we left Paducah we swung by Hancocks--a huge fabric warehouse well worth the time, even if it was also overwhelming in size.

Amazed and wowed by the display of quilts! A very nice clean and easy to walk around museum. I felt I got my money’s worth! Soo much talent and TIME these quilts showed.

If you appreciate art you will enjoy this place. Words do not do justice to the amazing detail and care put into these works of art. The location near the riverfront is also adjacent to a wonderful part of this beautiful little town. I came to see this museum, and I see myself coming back again with friends.

In my ignorance, i always thought of quilts as only a way to dispose of leftover odds and ends, scraps of material. Visiting this museum changed my mind completely: quilting is art. The masterpieces shown in this collection compete favorably with the best in photography, painting, drawing and any other form of visual art. Not only are these quilts beautiful, but some of the subtlety you see is truly impressive. It is a small museum, so one hour is plenty to view and enjoy the collection. There is a very nice gift shop too, although a coffee place is missing.

We visited here in conjunction with attending a major quilt show; and each experience enhanced the other.
Even if one is not a quilter, the artistry and workmanship displayed here is truly something to witness. The myriad ways that fabric and thread can be crafted is amazing. From traditional to more modern disciplines, a variety of quilting styles are represented.
Since the museum can only display a fraction of its collection at any one time, we were informed that the exhibits rotate regularly. (All the staff were friendly and informative.)
The collection of miniature quilts, as well as the wooden quilt were especially fascinating.
The museum shop also offers a nice selection of items among which to browse.
A destination in of itself, this museum is a wonderful compliment to the other fine offerings in Paducah.

The museum exhibits were marvelous. The most common phrases I heard from visitors were "amazing! " "wow!" "unbelievable!"
In addition to a delightful time at the quilt museum, we found Paducah charming and the community warm and helpful.

I just don't understand this museum. I attended art school , I teach art, and I quilt. I know that this museum is focused on newer quilts, but it is more of a showcase on stitching prowess than design. Lots of corny themes and bold but unappealing designs are featured here. There is very little subtlety. This museum would do well to have a historic section, featuring Amish, Gee's Bend and other quilts to give people a background in American quilting. Does anyone want to see quilts from the 1980s? There is a difference between classic, novel, artistic and dated design work in all fields, including quilting.

Most guys, including me are bored here. They need a pool table and a vending machine with beer in it for us guys. They also need a snack bar - was very disappointed that I couldn’t get a cup of coffee here. Otherwise the museum is Nicole done, clean and expansive — if you’re into quilting.

The quilts were true works of art. We were able to see the work of Danny Amazonas. This in itself would have been worth the trip.

If you like quilts, this is your place. I took my wife who seemed to enjoy herself. It was a boring place for me. I did like the small quilts they made for our astronaut events and even like the ones relating to Vincent. It was $11 per person for the senior discount which is quite high for what they have in their museum. The lady that manned the front desk was unfriendly which you don't find often in Kentucky. I just hope I don't have to return!

The Quilt Museum was amazing, so many unusual quilts. It was hard to realize that someone actually made them.

Three friends took time out of busy schedules to spend time in this lovely town and visit this exquisite museum..
The museum had at least 4 special exhibits which we thoroughly enjoyed..one was on the pandemic, another on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and another pictures in quilts of ancient stones of Ireland. These were amazing and then add all the other fabulous quilts, it made for quite a fine visit.

Lots of impressive art. But as others have mentioned, I was extremely disappointed. There were no historic, antique or vintage quilts. While I appreciate the talent to design and assemble these art quilts, I wanted to see MUSEUM quilts!

This is not your "grandmother's quilting". The artistry and intricacy of the designs blew me away. I had no idea that quilting could be such a work of Art. There was a particular quilt- with Swarovski crystals embedded in the design- that was unbelievably beautiful.
There was a collection of quilts featuring West Africans themes that was also very striking . It is worth a visit to this Museum.

This was my second visit to the National Quilt Museum and it won’t be my last! The displays of quilts change every three or four months so you never see the same thing twice. This museum is not about the past or the history of quilting. It is a dynamic exploration of the future of fiber arts. Some of the quilts were modern variations on patterns my Grandma used to use but some of them were like enormous paintings. Don’t miss the well curated gift shop, containing the works of many local artists. Don’t miss the NQM if you are anywhere nearby, and if you love quilts make a special trip like I did!

This museum is gorgeous and impressive! Don't miss it! Some quilts are so intricate they look like photographs or paintings from far away.

Never knew quilts could be so intricate. What a great variety with the three different collections being displayed. Even amazed at the wooden quilt. Glad we visited, pictures allowed too! Thank you. Snr discount available.

Not a museum in the way I think of it, only a quilt exhibit. Pretty quilts but all fairly new, expected more history and old quilts. If you like to look at a few fancy quilts this is for you but if you are interested in seeing old quilts and 'how to' quilting this is not the place.

The National Quilt Museum is an impressive display of many beautiful and amazing quilts. There are guides if you prefer but visitors are welcome to view the quilts on their own and at their own pace. If you are in the vicinity on your way to Nashville or another destination and will pass Paducah, I highly recommend taking the side trip. I am not a quilter but really enjoyed the museum.

I've always wanted to go to this museum and we finally did it! So beautiful. The quilt workmanship is fantastic. We enjoyed taking the tour to get more information about some of the quilts. Then, we wandered around and marveled at the quilts.

Really enjoyed touring the Museum. Several exhibits of quilts were in the museum. This is a necessity of any visit to Paducah.

This was my first visit to the National Quilt Museum.Although it was smaller than I thought it would be and didn't have as many quilts on display as I'd thought,it was very nice and what they had was impressive. Some of the quilts were works of art! The time and effort that went into making them is amazing. I was told that they have over 600 quilts in storage and don't have the space to display all of them at once but they change the displays frequently. Hopefully I'll get the chance to visit again if in the area.

My wife was the driving force behind visiting the museum but I found it interesting and informative.

Stories of West Africa was one of the exhibitions, this was fantastic, I hope all quilters get to see this. We did a self tour but there was a guide there as well to explaine the different quilts.

We had seen traveling shows from the NQM but seeing all the prize-winning quilts from past years was a special treat.

I thought this would be a collection of antique quilts. I was kinda surprised when I went in and it was a lot of quilts that are machine made and very modern.

I never knew there were so many ways to quilt. The fabrics, piecing, applications, & stitches blew me away.
I would be cross eyed, blind, & crazy after an hours work.

What can I say? Fabulous! The display changes often so if I lived in the area I would make an effort to go often. Quilts are phenomenal...beautiful,...there is even a quilt made out of wood! Not to be missed if you are a quilter.

We were in Paducah for a Conference and the Museum was one of the choices we could see. The reception was Great because the person setting up the choices was off because of family and know one at the Conference or Museum knew anything about the tour. They let us tour free on our ow since others were due at 4pm- we got there early because the Museum closes at 5pm. We toured till rest of the group showed up and they came and got us. With only an hour with a guide it is not enough time- glad we got there early. The guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting- he said they change out the quilts on display every few months so when you come back will see a whole different group.

Amazing quilts are on display from artists around the world. Some exhibits rotate so if you have been once it will probably be new and exciting the next time you go. This isn’t really a great one for little ones unless in a stroller. You can’t touch the quilts and it can get tempting. They do have a few sample ones to show styles.

WOW Such talented people. Pictures made of thread. Quilt made of wood unbelievable. Take the time to appreciate the displays. I’m told the displays change periodically so you can make this a frequent stop when driving thru the quaint town of Paducah.
Much Better Than Expected
My wife is an avid quilter, so obviously we had to visit this museum. I must admit quilting is not my cup of tea, but the quilts in this museum is nothing short of amazing. I have no idea how most of them were made, but I can tell you the cost to visit here is well worth it. Plan to spend some time as there are many to look at, and they all are beautiful.
