Tried the ferry out for the first time , the experience was fun and quick. Got there on Wednesday around 2 pm. No wait , loaded the ferry very quick. I would say ten to load and ten minutes to the other side . The ferry runs 27/7. The only down fall was when we were leaving on Saturday fathers day weekend the line for the ferry was miles long to board the ferry. So use your head when going to Port Aransas. Stan

This is a very short ferry ride. You can usually see dolphins. It essentially provides a way for Highway 361 to cross Aransas Pass. You will usually have a short wait. No big deal. It sure beats driving around. It is kind of fun to watch the ground crew, trying to evenly load the multiple ferries. It seems haphazard to the uninitiated, but it is a carefully choreographed dance. Pay attention next time.

This is the only way to cross over to the town of Aransas and to travel on the Rockport. Free and does not take long to cross.

good ferry system but you need to get there early if you dont want to spend alot of time waiting. there is also a causeway you can take from corpus to port a (JFK causeway)

I have traveled a fair amount on ferries and I was so happy to be on a ferry that was free and you did not have to wait for ever for it. It only takes a few minutes to get across and we saw dolphins on our way over and on the way back as well. Really nice staff as well.

Overall the wait wasnt bad, and you can see dolphins while you are transported.
Depending on the day and the time you may have to wait up to an hour to cross onto the Port A.

I am sure it is the best beach I have ever been to. The beach is clean, the sea is warm. What else do you need to spend your summer time!

We Camped at Malaquite National Seashore and drove north the next day. I researched Ferry Rules & Limits prior to using Ferry. We were lucky as because of the early season it wasn’t crowded and we drove right on. It’s fairly simple as you drive up there are numbered signs hanging above each land and the direct and tell what number to pull into. When it’s time to load they direct who goes first etc...same with unloading. Drive on and shut engine off and that’s it !

Wait time was not long, very well run service. Does not take long at all. Did not take ferry when we left the island

My husband and I have been enjoying the ferry rides for over 40 years. Our last trip was in December 2022. Four or five ferries were running and our wait to get on the ferry was about 5 minutes. We have waited 45-60 minutes during the summer and spring break. It took 5 minutes to load the ferry and the trip across the channel took about 5 minutes. The ferries are large enough to handle a truck pulling a big travel trailer. Years ago, we got out of our vehicle during the ferry ride to watch for the dolphins in the channel. That is no longer allowed. Roberts Point Park is a great place to watch the dolphins now days. The ferry is free.

Great Ferry. Quick jaunt over the harbor. Nice staff. Also get to see Dolphins Would recommend this to anyone. Beautiful views.

Quick and easy crossing. No problems at all. I like taking the ferry rather than going the long way around.

Super quick, and super fun and there were dolphins which I watched from my car...on a ship. I can cross a ferry off my bucket list now.

We used ferry to cross from Pt Aransas. Well organized, fast, quick ride, free and easy. Would use it again.

The wait times for the ferry range from a few mins to up to an hour and a half. It’s neat though, but don’t go unless you have some extra time.

We don’t typically ride on ferry’s. It was amazing to watch the staff load the vehicles according to length and approx weight to balance the ferry. The waiting time was minimal and a fun ride. There were 10 ferry’s moving vehicles between the mainland and the island.

A fun way to cross the water. Wait wasn’t too long. Staff got us on and off the boat efficiently. Will definitely use the ferry again.

Can't complain about the only way across the water. Very reliable, friendly staff. On the way out of town (Friday) I wouldn't want to be coming TO Port A, the line was miles long!

Traveling from the Aransas side going into Port A, wait time was 60+ minutes so I decided to park on the Aransas Pass side and walk to take the Ferry into Port A where friends would pick me up.
There were no pedestrian signs indicating where I should go or wait to board the ferry. When I approached the deckhands or the individuals in the parking lot they were very rude and indicated that I should just wait until somebody told me what to do.
When I finally was allowed to walk onto the ferry again another rude deckhand told me I couldn't sit in the waiting area because I had a dog, again no rules or regulations posted upon entry to the ferry. Funny I could walk to the back of the ferry with my dog and stand for the 10-minute trip across and it seemed to be okay with everyone to come out from where they were sitting to come over and pet my dog I guess they were not afraid that the gift would be attacked by my loving dog as long as they walked up to me and I didn't sit with them.
Well I understand rules and regulations and can almost understand reasoning for not wanting the dog to be with the people I don't understand why the deck hands and the parking lot people had to be rude instead of helpful this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had.
I know it's hard to complain about a free service however any kind of service should be just that a service given by people who enjoy their jobs are not cranky or rude or think they're God just because they have a text that jacket on.

We stayed on the Padre Island side, so this was more of a experience vs an efficiency. It was a 35-40 wait, but the kids enjoyed the short ride on the ferry. I wouldn't take it again unless we were staying on the Port Aransas side.

This is a free ferry; we were loaded on the ferry in quick order, it appeared that all safety measures were taken & the trip across the water was uneventful (that's a good thing). We didn't have a very long wait time and enjoyed the ferry ride.

The first couple of times we drove all the way around. Then decided to chance the wait and take the Ferry. Six times later we were glad it was not a holiday weekend. I think our longest wait time was five minutes to board. I would only use this during off peak times unless you want to wait.

When driving from Corpus Christi, it takes about 20 minutes to get to ferry. We only waited about 10 minutes to get on ferry, but could be longer during rush hours. Nice, quick ride to Port Aransas. About 10 minutes to beaches.

The Port A ferry is a Texas tradition and an institution. The system has improved over the years, and what a great way to stop and see what this region is all about. On busy days, they could use an extra ferry to cut down on wait times. Nevertheless, once parked on the ferry, you can get out and stand in front to watch all the amazing sea birds, and channel activity. There are almost always dolphins frolicking around, and little fish that randomly leap out of the water. It's a treat, and not something you can experience everyday if you're from out of town. There are also enormous tankers that ride in from all over the world. There are people that drive 100s of miles for the opportunity and it brings in big bucks to the local economy - and it's free. For the unfortunate souls that are unable to stop and enjoy something different - a little history and tradition, nature, coastal culture, a water cruise, and something fun that's off the beaten path, there's a road from Corpus into Port A, which is the long way around when coming in from the north.

We are staying in Aransas Pass, Texas and have to take the ferry to Port Aransas to get to their awesome beach. How cool is that! About a three minute ride and it’s free! We keep going to the beach so we can ride the ferry!!

On holiday weekends waits can get a little long but that is just because the island is popular.
Staff have always paid attention to operations and been courteous .

Novel idea but seems to make more sense to just build a bridge. The wait time was longer than expected due to construction. For kids would be a fun little thing as the ferry system in the south is pretty non existent.

25 minutes from the time we got in the end of the line till we drove off on the mainland. Friday 5pm and they had four ferry’s running. Fantastic service by Txdot!

We got there a little before noon on a Thursday. The weather was good and it was early April so there we no traffic issues. We were on the ferry with our RV in five minutes from pulling into the parking area.

This is the worst ferry experience. They are so slow and uncoordinated. If you have to work on or off this place or have to be somewhere, my advice is to leave an hour early. They are slow on the slow days.

The ferry runs between Aransas Pass and Port Aransas. They have between 2 and 4 ferries running all day. The ride is only 5-10 minutes and wait time is less than 15 minutes. The ferry can hold large Rvs and trucks. Nice ride and you can get out while its moving. Easy on and off!

We rode this ferry several times while on vacation and each time the process of loading or unloading was smooth and easy. The trip across was also smooth and quick.

Fast and friendly, even when it is hotter than hatties..... very well organized and as timely as can be.

Taken the ferry about a dozen times in the past couple of weeks, not a problem getting on, off and parked. The trip is so short I could have written this in the same time. Very efficiently ran.

Quick and very organized and efficient way to get to Arkansas Pass, Fulton & Rockport. Never a wait. Crew wear masks although outside.

Very short ride for a ferry. Interesting though. Huge boat. Do it during the day
free boat ride. Lots of boats

Ferry workers were friendly and helpful. I'm sure they get tired of hundreds of cars coming and going

This was winter so service was pretty fast. Well organized. And it is free. I understand that wait times can be challenging in the summer especially on weekends.

I like taking the ferry, it is always fun to ride it across. If you go during the busy times it can take a while to get on it. The people loading and unloading the vehicles are always nice.

I always enjoy the ferry ride, the workers are very nice, saw lots of dolphins last time. Its efficient and you get some lovely views!

It was "Spring Break" but didn't wait long for the ride. I love doing this because of the dolphins in the harbor you get to see.

Not much to say, it's a short ferry ride. If you're in the area and have never put a vehicle on the ferry you should.

Its a ferry. We drove on, floated and drove off. Extra required words follow - oajflkj lakjflakfsa;l lakf;lsakfsa;lk a;lkfa;lfdka;

Always love getting on the ferry, it's the beginning of a great time on the island. For us, the wait has never been that long, sometimes wish the ride over was a little longer. State does great job running the boats back and worth in an timely manner and the welcoming dolphins and birds are always a treat.

The ferry used to be a fun way to reach Port Aransas. Drive on to the ferry with minimum wait, roll down your windows, smell the salt air and leave the real world behind. I am afraid those days are gone forever. With the tremendous increase of tanker traffic in and out of the Port of Corpus Christi now often causes long delays. Unless you have a burning need to take your vehicle across the ship channel you are much better off going on to Corpus Christi and driving up the island road to reach the town and beach. Change is inevitable I guess but this has not been good change. So sad.

Ferry staff is very quick and efficient. No wait time either way. First car in line coming back so we had a nice view. Saw a couple of dolphins.

We were told to take the Ferry for the experience. I expected it to be fairly long ferry ride but it's extremely short. There was not a real "experience" in taking the ferry. If you can avoid it, take the road instead. If you need to use the ferry than go for it. They moved us through the line quickly but they really just need to build a bridge.

I marveled at the employees and their dedication, standing out there no matter what the weather...very focused on their jobs and YOUR safety. Kudos to them all!

The ferry system is great. We got to see dolphins on 2 of our rides. The only draw back is trying to get off the island on a Sunday right after checkout time. I’m just glad we didn’t go on a holiday weekend.

Nice to be on a free highway ferry. Short, about 15-20 minutes. You cannot get out of your vehicle though.

We really liked going on the ferry. The staff was always on top of things getting vehicles in the right spot. Most of them were really friendly and visited with us on the ferry.

The ferry is super quick but a neat experience. I recommend taking the time to go to the park right next to the ferry, as there are usually dolphins swimming around that area!! We also saw dolphins from the ferry! I think this is an awesome service that is offered for free!! For someone coming from a landlocked state, it really is a neat experience, though quick !

Look for the porpoises swimming along the ferry ! They jump out of the water and chase along with the ferry boat.

We had a nice ride on our vacation to the bay. I intend to return and ride again without the car. The ride's a little too short to get out and take as many pictures as I want. Check it out!

We used this ferry system to go to Port Aransas from Corpus Christi and eventually head to Padre Island. It was free and easy and the men were very professional. It only takes about 20 minutes.

Lines can be long on weekends and holidays so work that into your travel schedule. You can usually see Dolphins on the short ferry ride across the bay.

They run as fast as they can!! And do try to keep your time minimal in getting on and off. The workers are very experienced.

It was very organized & well ran. We had to wait a few minutes to get on but they have several barges to bring you across so it wasnt a long wait & it beat driving 30miles around.

Used the ferry going back home after family vacation to Corpus Christi. Not problems and staff was very friendly. Did not have long wait to board the ferry and get off.

Our first time to Port A and had NO CLUE we had to take a ferry. A fun surprise. We were allowed to get out of our vehicle during the ride to see the dolphins. The ride is short and the crew getting you on and off are efficient. No wasting time or space to get as many vehicles on the ferry as possible.

Ferry to Port Aransas was quick. Ten or less minutes. Takes longer to load. Can see dolphins in the area.

Used the ferry when we left Port Aransas to take a different route home. Staff quickly guided our vehicle onto the ferry and were friendly but mostly just efficient. Took less than 10 minutes from loading to departure. And it is free!!!

This is really a fun thing for the kids and for people that haven't ever experienced a ferry before .

Loved it very professionally handled room for trucks Rvs and cars
Loved watching the super efficient ways vehicles were loaded and time pisted for any delays

TX DOT runs 4 free ferries each way across the channel to Port A. Very short ride, but fun anyway. We were there in the off season and had no wait.

This is so organized. They have plenty of workers to help you. Great system. Never had any problems.

This small ferry system is very organized and makes the short trip across the Corpus Christi Channel in about 10 minutes on ferries that hold about 20 cars. The ferry runs 24 hours a day and is well staffed. For me, riding the ferry was a lesson in slowing down and respecting the rhythms of the ocean. Loved it.

The crew was very polite and even though it was so hot they helped us out. Crossing is always fun for us as we love Port Aransas and come every summer. It’s great because at times you will see dolphins

Love riding on the ferry and whenever family comes to visit it’s always on the to do list. Really great when the dolphins are very visible.

It’s a neat thing to do , its must do on our trip because the grandkids think it’s ooo sooo cool ‘ from the other side of Port Aransas , you just take the ferry to the port but leaving if you want to go the other way instead of going back on the island road it will take you way out of your way !! But there is a plus you’ll end up on the other side of the inlet near north beach we’re there’s soo much to do there like the Texas Aquarium, the Lexington those and s beach ! Sometimes the ferry is pretty busy getting off the island but be patient , it’ a neat thing to do !

The only way to quickly get to Port A from Rockport. The lines can be long with the ships passing but it is interesting to watch what goes on in the harbor. It seems very organized and employees have to stand and work in all weather. Always enjoy the trip, saw a Dolphin near the ferry last time too!

Too bad that you have to remain inside your vehicle now. Makes it hard to see the dolphins that are in the channel frequently!

This ferry, which is operated by the Texas Highway Department, is a free and easy way to get off the island and back to the mainland. The only downside that I could see would be that, during the peak tourist season, the wait time could be substantial. (Of course, one could always drive back to Corpus Christi..... a 30+ minute drive in itself.). The state has a fleet of at least 5 of these ferries and at least one of them operates 24/7.

Thankful for the great people working the ferry! It seems like it would be thankless, hot, hard work yet they always get the job done safely and efficiently. Thank you!

....it was a Friday afternoon and we got there about 3pm. The line behind us got a lot longer while we waited. You can go online and find out your wait times. It might be better to take the longer land way into PA, so the website is worth checking. Once your on, it's about a 5 minute ride to the other side. Easy on and off, no issues.

The fastest ferry system I have encountered. Fast on, really short trip and fast off. THe workers knew what they were doing.

Efficiently runTexas Highway Commission ferry connecting Port Aransas and Aransas Pass. Even in peak times, it doesn't take long to board and disembark. I've seen dolphins break water everytime I've been on the ferry. I never get tired of seeing the three huge oil rigs in dry dock.

Didn’t have to wait too long, was a nice short ride. Everything was done I. An orderly manner. Just wish we could get out of the vehicles.

Don’t miss this quick ride, you might see a tanker up close. It’s free. We only had a short wait to drive on.

Great service, helps cut down travel time to certain places. Also you get to get out of your vehicle's and see dolphins swimming in the area.

Great little ferry ride from Port Aransas over to Aransas Pass, we enjoyed our little drive over to go catch a movie and drive through the seaside. Ferry workers very nice and even asked me if I needed assistance as I’m handicapped. Great job!!

We took the ferry's a couple dozen times during our trip and never had to wait more than 10 minutes. My wife and kids love that you can get out and watch the dolphins and look around while going across.

These drivers and workers are a joke. Lines are always backed up and no one knows what's going on. It's a waste of tax payers money for the fuel is wasted. They need a bridge and do away with the ferry's

No wait time. Very efficient. Great alternative to driving south on the island. We enjoyed the short ride.

I imagine because of the hurricane, the ferries have been replaced with new wider ones. We have an RV and felts very comfortable taking them.

Time your travel right by checking the website for times when most busy but this was a fun experience and got me to Port A in no time.

Short free ride on ferry with dolphins playing in the harbor at about 9:00 am. Easy on and off directions by staff. It only took a few minutes to cross, but if you are luck enough to be the first car on, you can look out the front to a wonderful harbor scene. We were blessed to finish our vacation leaving on the ferry with dolphins playing in front of the ferry on this morning ride.

Easy on and off service to the Island, takes about 5 minutes to cross and there was a short line to get on.

Such a quick and fun free ride, in your car on a ferry across the shipping channel. There is a wait sometimes in peak hours, but worth it.

This was our first time taking our RV with a tow on to the ferry and my wife was a little apprehensive about it but they knew exactly what they were doing and never hesitated on how to position us on the ferry. No worries at all - 40 foot rig with a tow.

This is a small ferry to Port Aransas from the mainland. It only takes a few minutes to cross the channel but the line to do so can be anywhere from a few minutes wait to several hours depending on the time of day and time of year.

Free crossing but it is short & of course jammed on, it's a ferry - but it always you to do the island loop rather than back tracking to get home

It amazes me how smooth the docking is every time we’ve ridden the ferry! These ferry drivers are precise! Look for dolphins!

When they have all of the ferries running, the multiple lines go fast. The trip itself is very short

We never had more than a 10 minute wait to get on ferry and the trip across only took about 10 minutes. Well run with lots of people directing traffic. We get seasick easily but had no problems on the ferry. And it's free and runs around the clock!

The ferry is doing well in Port A. The boats are large and accommodate many vehicles. The employees work diligently to be prompt and safety to passengers, vehicles and ferry staff is evident.

The volume of cars may result in a longer wait, but the workers here keep things moving as quickly as possible. And it's a tough job in the August heat

If you go any tie near "rush hour" you will wait in long lines. Holidays wait times are very long. The extra boat didn't help...they only use a couple of ferrys and have to wait for ship traffic in the Corpus Christi ship channel. Allow extra time if you have to take the ferry - you never know how long you'll have to wait.

The ferry is very organized and the wait in minimal. Best part is it's free. They have 3 ferries running back and forth with a large staff. Appeared to be very conscious too.

The workers were very efficient, got us on and off the ferry in no time. We even got to watch some dolphins playing in the water.

Took the ferry from Aransas Pass to go to Port Aransas.
A nice trip and well organised.
The ferry trip is free of charge

This was my first ferry ride and it was a great experience. Didn't have to wait long at all to get moving as they've got those boats going like clockwork. Also got to be in the front on the return ferry ride and saw some dolphins!

We had a 1 hr wait on a Sunday afternoon in June to leave. The workers were working hard and it seems organized. I would advise to plan your route to the ferry line because it backs up through the intersection at times. We were making a left turn to get in the ferry line and because of the back up very few cars could go on the green arrow. It turns to a blinking arrow, but because of the cars turning right we could never go. I would recommend taking the route where you are making the right turn or coming straight through the light. They got to move faster. We sat in 8 or 10 light cycles and I regretted going that way. It was our first time, so we didn't know the trick.

Slow but fun! Also a treat to take the ferry to and from Port A. Its just seems as more people discover Port A it takes longer and longer to use the ferry especially on the weekends. Make sure you check the wait before you go! But if you can go enjoy the ferry, look for big ships and dolphins!!!

I live in the desert so every year I come to Port A I have to ride the ferry just for the uniqueness of the experience. It's actually shorter and faster to get on the ferry and go shopping at the HEB than it is to drive into Corpus.

Always great except if a long wait. A lot of construction still going on so a lot of workers coming and going.

We have utilized the ferry system 7 times....traveling north from North Padre Island.
As you approiach Aransas Pass you will find reader boards that alert you that there is a wait of approxinamely 15 minutes.at the ferry crossing. That must be a default notification as we have waiting well over 45 minutes at time.
The lonbg way around thru Corpus may actually be best route.,,,all depends on the time of day, day of the week and the boat traffic thru the pass.

This was a fun little thing to do. Quick and easy. This was a week day evening so it may be busier weekends.

We took the ferry to the other side just to see where they got us. The ferry system runs 24 hours a day. It is a smooth operation. We were first car in and got to see dolphins following a boat in the canal. Ride itself is only about 3 minutes.

On Labor Day we waited at least 3 hours to ride the ferry. Being a holiday, maybe the wait time could not be helped. But the lines were extremely long and it was unclear where to line up. Most of the workers were pleasant but when I was moving up to where I thought I was supposed to stop, a woman wearing a supervisor vest literally screamed at me and looked at me with the ugliest look (she screamed at other cars too and was generally nasty). I was inching forward and was in no way about to hit anyone - she wasn't even in my path. Then they skipped over us and let others go who had not been waiting as long. My husband and I spoke to someone on the phone, one of the guys working, and a security guard, none of whom were helpful about the mistake the employees made which resulted in us having to wait 30 min longer for all the other rows to go. The "security guard" told me there was no way to verify that a mistake had been made and "I don't see anyone else complaining." He said this as he was staring at my chest. Seriously. I will never, ever, ride this ferry again. My issue is not so much with the long wait, which was to be expected, but the unprofessionalism of the employees. I assume they have no incentive for being professional since no one there seemed to take our issue seriously and the "supervisor" was the one screaming at people.

No trip to Port Aransas is complete without a ride on the ferry. On my last ride I was lucky to be directed to the front center parking spot. It was great watching the pelicans, ducks, seagulls and dolphins while the ferry made it's way from Aransas Pass to Port Aransas.

I’m amused there is a review for the ferry. You load up, five minutes later you unload. The wait to get on is way longer than the actual ride. If you’re lucky, you can be up front so you can watch dolphins escort the big ships out.

We came to Port A for the first time in on July 6-10. I have never been on a ferry with a vehicle and was a little apprehensive to go. They run a very efficient and quick ferry to get across. We waited less than 15 minutes each time and the ferry moves quick going across. It is something kind of cool to do and break the day/drive up. Listen to employees, this is a well oiled machine/efficient process.

BE sure to call first in case of low tide if you are coming from the south. Very organized and 4 ferry's running.

When we recently visited Port Aransas, we tried to avoid the ferry because we just assumed that it would be a slower alternative. Well, were we wrong. We ended up at the ferry by mistake. We drove right on and the crossing was quick and getting off was also quick. The staff knew what they were doing and were also helpful. Would highly recommend the ferry.
As a note, we were there in the week before Spring break. During peak tourist season, the waits may be higher.

Just be careful when you go and get the ferry app to see how long the wait is in case you are traveling from Austin and want to consider the ferry or driving around Corpus to get to Port Aransas.

We were traveling the country...next stop - Port Aransas and the GPS brought us to this ferry...we thought...do we have any cash? I wonder how much it costs? Well, folks, it's FREE! Quick and efficient..runs 7 days a week, 24 hours a day!

Waited 30 minutes to cross in 3 minutes it was experience I have never done but the wait was to long

Came from Padre Island and were heading towards Port Aransas. Got in line and waited for about 5 minutes then drove onto the ferry and took off and 5 minutes across the harbor and we were there. It’s free and fast.

Great views from boat. Lots of dolphins catching boat waves. Big RVs and trailers allowed. You are allowed to get out of vehicle, but have to be in vehicle before boat docks.

We are in line waiting for the ferry. It’s been 45 mins so far. Probably will take 30-45 more. What a cluster you-know-what. Do they lack personnel or equipment? Or did someone give too many people the day off? Whatever, the operators need to do better. Big fail.

Went on the ferry because we had never been on it before. It takes a little over 3 minutes to go over the water. My 6 year old granddaughter enjoyed the experience so we all did. We probably waited close to 30 minutes to get on. At Aransas Pass to return we got on much faster. It is free so a good deal.

We've had a great experience every time, with friendly workers and a quick, efficient system. I've heard the wait can be hours during busy summer days.

Ferry moves all day back an forth and night too i think
We didn't get to take camper on due to low tide .
We drove a long way around to go up the coast.

Definately a to do. We were travelling with a 5th wheel and it was easy to get on and off. Would suggest that people guiding you on provide verbal instruction on where to park. Coming from the Maritimes we are used to ferries but we always go within the marked lane on the ferry. Apparently we should have straddled the lanes - the hand signal with 2 fingers means that. Good to know. It is free, easy and efficient. You remain in your vehicle to cross which was great because we travel with our dog.

Very efficient and friendly people. The wait was like 10 minutes but the road signs you see prior to entering the ferry prepare you for the wait time.

We never waited more than 30 minutes from getting in line to getting off on the other side. It’s quit a short ride but good that it’s there!

How can you complain about a free ride?
It seems like traffic is far heavier than we have encountered in the past.
A new loading system is in the works which should create smoother movement.
It is a great system .

The ferry system has been ferrying autos, trucks and rvs to Port Aransas for years. The employees know their job. Sometimes you have to wait longer but safety is number 1. The dolphins that swim along side the ferry is an extra delight.

Signs says 15 minute wait for ferry. I have been on line for 50 minutes, still not even in sorted queue for boarding. About 15 cars had passed, maybe one ferry's worth. With! At least 100 cars in front of me. So much for relaxing, alone with a book and sandwich, on the beach.

We enjoyed our short wait and trip. Did have to stay in the car but there really isn't time to get out of it. We stayed right near the ferry so it was very convenient.

Very strange ferry ride. Boarding was efficient and quick. We were in the middle road - we couldn't tell that we were moving and about 6-7 minutes after we got on we landed on the other side. No fee and great work - but why not a bridge?

Signage was very easy to navigate and lanes wide enough for trucks and RV's
Wait time was hardly noticable. The staff and crew were very efficient and friendly. I was able to get out of my vehicle and take pictures even though the trip only took about 10 min. The price was GREAT..FREE!! Way to take care of your tourists Port Aransas Ferry System

We love going across the ferry! If you watch, you can see dolphins jumping as you go across. There is seating and life jackets available if you want to get out of your car on the way across but it really isn’t a long trip. Occasionally the wait to get on is lengthy but we’re usually on within 10 minutes. The best part is that it’s totally free!!

Cool to cross the channel on the free ferry. It has as many as five docking slots for ferries! The wait time was maybe ten minutes. However I heard other people mention 35 minutes on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Staff will be there to guide you with your vehicle to the right place on the ferry.

Absolute joke of an experience - 3.45 hour wait today - appreciate its Labor Weekend - but police were dis-organised and feeding the ferry from the roads which had less traffic on them - obviously we only observed this after waiting around 3 hours, and there was guys who i am sure waited in excess of 4 hours because we seen them on main road 3 hours earlier, when we were jumping around
Never going back even if it was 1 off experience - better things to waste my time on, before we had to undertake our 4 hour drive

Love our ferry rides! Always organized and my little granddaughter loves watching the dolphins. If you’re worried about the line length you can google the ferry and it will show you real time video.

No long lines because of the number of ferries operation and the short travel distance. Well organized loading/unloading.

The ferry was quick, fun and free. Nice shortcut. We thought we’d take it to avoid some of the traffic and it did! Would definitely recommend.

You can approach Mustang Island either by ferry or by going into Corpus Christi and taking the bay bridge - the long way. We loe the ferry system. It is extremely well run and the staff are friendly and VERY efficient. There is rarely a long wait - most times not more than 15 minutes but sometimes you can just drive right on.

Very, very short trip over to island. Saw porpoises in water next to ferry on ride over. Staff was very nice and polite.

We used the system 4 times during our two stays. Such fun to watch the birds. The last time we crossed we were parked on the side so I could see over the ferry. Great service.

Always use the backroads so we can use the Ferry. Kids loved it!! Birds, other water vessels, dolphins. Only complaint could use 5 more minutes to cross. Safe way to travel! Employees were serious about their jobs but also friendly & caring.

During our stay in Port Aransas, we used the ferry several times. Overall, the staff has the system ‘down’ - they are efficient, and they carefully guide cars on and off the ferries with care.
One day we rode, the entire staff was in high gear- they were getting cars on, securing the ride and starting the crossing in record time. When we landed, we saw why - the line waiting to cross onto the island was an hour wait. I cannot say enough how each staff member was working at maximum capacity using all available ferries and workers to get people where they wanted to go as quickly as possible. Bravo!

This was our first time on a ferry where you stayed in your car. Everything went smoothly and it was super cool. Professional peeps out there!

Loved riding the ferry over to the mainland. February not a busy month so never had to wait more than 15 minutes to get on ferry. Once or twice actually drove right on and no wait. Saw lots of dolphins on ride over and back, pelicans, and other birds. Walked in the park by the ferry and saw dolphins, sea turtles, pelicans... and the ferry is part of the road system and is free, and no potholes. Even enjoyed riding at night in a rainstorm.

The Ferry is part of the whole "Going to Port Aransas" experience. During High-traffic times the waits can be a couple of hours but the new, bigger ferrys are helping. All the staff are professional and friendly.

The Ferry workers were so professional, helping us with the process of driving on board. The wait was short, and the ride was short. Impressive operation. AND it was free!

Easy on, easy off, prompt service.
Free ferry between Port Aransas and Aransas Pass TX. Vehicles of most all sizes can be accommodated. Very efficient and professional.

capains allow overloading of these new ferries he didnt pay for. we paid for them . and i make several videos of them allowing 24 wheelers with lumber onto the ferries that is against the peak load rules. i checked and it was way over the limit many times . so the ferries are now all in bad condition and prolly will overturn because the captains allow overloadding

trip across was good and it was easy to get on and off. They have signs saying the wait time and also when RV could not be on due to low tide.

you can get to the island by bridge or by ferry depending. The grandkids love to ride the ferry. Fortunately it was pretty quick loading and unloading.

Commuting on a ferry was way cool for us.. I am sure not so exciting for residents. There was no wait the times we crossed.

Always run smoothly and never a long wait. When we get to the ferry we know visit to Port A has begun so it brings an edge of excitement to our crossing.

Lines are long and they do not utilize all their boats. When we were leaving on Sunday the lines were around the block. As we got closer we saw they were only using 1-2 boats at a time and all the others were just sitting. It took about 45 minutes for us to get on the ferry.

Always a short wait for the ferry, convenient access and FREE! Exciting way to start your visit! Great views of the intercostal waterway. Lots of boats, dolphins and views of the marina and shipyard.

The wait was fairly short and you get a good view of the scenery. The trip across the water was smooth. I recommend staying in your vehicle for the ride though.

They have expanded their lanes for waiting on the island side but they do not have enough ferries running to accommodate all the influx of traffic which results in waiting times up to 90 minutes. Maybe it is growing pains. Just be prepared to “WAIT”.

It’s free and easy to access - lots of Ferry. Unlike the Bolivar Ferry, you don’t get out of your car. Very quick ride!

These guys really know what they are doing: wait time is minimal, entrance and exit is quick. No delays, no hassle and it is free.

Larger ferry’s made the trip a blast. Was always a gamble to go over the ferry or go around Corpus Christi and come in from the south. The ferry’s at much larger and things are a lot more organized than in the past. TxDot now has cameras on line to help see how long the wait is.

This Port Aransas Ferry was a quick and friendly service, good to be close to the pelicans perched on the boat and a very handy service between us travelling from Padre Island and over to Corpus Christi.

It was not as crowded as I have seen in the past. I did get a chance to see a couple of dolphins. Going back soon.

It's free, it's fast, and it's efficient. They can't build a bridge to Port A that'll clear the constant flow of freighters, so ferry is the only option. Runs 24/7 and free. Longest we had to wait was 30 minutes (freighters in the channel aren't fast and have the right of way). Only time there's a problem is when drivers aren't paying attention to the dozen deckhands directing traffic every 10 feet. So slow down, eyes up, pay attention to the deckhands, and you'll be across in no time!

What a fantastically well-run operation that won't cost you a penny. Lines can be long but it only takes a few minutes to get boarded and across the Aransas pass.

The ferry is always fairly fast, unless you travel during holidays. Only took about 10 minutes to wait. Like seeing the dolphins. Only saw a few this time.

Traveling from Galveston to Port Aransas takes you across the Corpus Christi channel. It’s a short ride but very efficient. You might have to wait up to 15 minutes. Best of all, it’s FREE!

We always enjoy the Port A Ferry. We have never had to wait more than 15 minutes for the ferry even when it's a little busier. The staff is professional and the scenery is good! We always enjoy catching glimpses of the dolphins in the channel too.

We don’t come to Corpus without riding the ferry. Love watching the dolphins and seeing the ship traffic. At least 2-6 ferries usually run daily 24/7, free of charge. These ferries are a part of the Department of Transportation in Texas, and they run between Port Aransas and Aransas Pass.

I love to ride the ferry. However, I guess that I should have checked TXDot before I left. The traffic was backed up and not moving. I lady told me that she was 1 1/2 hours late to work. Maybe the ferries were damaged from Harvey.

Coming from a state where riders pay 65% of the cost of the ferry system, and fares are quite steep, finding a free ferry was unexpected. Of course, this one has a trip duration of 10 minutes, you can see the docking area of the destination as soon as you board, you're called back to your vehicle 5 minutes in, and there's only room for 20-something vehicles, all of which you can see. In addition, we got a bonus: dolphins! Partway from Corpus Christi up highway 361 is a digital sign that tells motorists how long the wait is to go across. I'd imagine that the lineups in the summer are lengthy, but in this, the off-season, we drove right on. If you deem the upcoming wait too long, there's always the option of turning around and going back via the road you came in on, highway 361.

So convenient! There's something really cool about a ferry. Really gets you excited to start your beach vacay!

I always love riding the ferry. It was a short ride and we did not have much wait time either way. Just wish we could have gotten out.

Works well, fast, better than the Bolivar ferry system in Galveston. Park cars, turn off engine and stay inside cars, lots of dolphins in the water

This is a great way to travel to Port Aransas. The crew was very helpful, and told us when we could get out of our car to see the water. It was an extremely short trip, but a neat thing to do.

I have ridden the Port A ferries for over 40 years. They have put into service a few newer, higher capacity, ferries in recent years.Though safe and reliable,on holidays it can take an hour or two to get onboard for a-roughly-five minute ride. They used to let you get out of the car and watch the water, dolphins jumping, etc,.but not anymore.Still a fun run for the grandkids though. They run 24 hours from Port Aransas to Aransas Pass, and AP to Port A.

The ferry is a timeless piece of Port Aransas. Yes, there could be a wait; yes, it could be hot; but how often to you get to cross water on a ferry? It makes the trip to Port A real!

The good ol’ ferry, thankful it’s still there and operating smoothly and efficiently. We used to be able to get out of the vehicle but they have signs posted now to stay in, which is understandable.

I was amazed with this system. It takes you from Aransas pass to Port Aransas in less than 5 minutes. You will only have to make a line and wait from 10 to 25 minutes depending on traffick to cross from one place to another.

Not really necessary when leaving Port Aransas, and 281 is kinda slow. Just go through Mustang Island, you save tons of time.

Crew was very proficient and professional. Not a long wait but probably during summer weekends it will get crowded.

Used the ferry numerous times during our beach vacation. Very efficient. Never had to wait more than 15 minutes. Saw dolphin on one of the ferry trips. Trip across is very short.

Very efficent and running on time when I used the Port A Ferry. Crew was on top of any issues that came up and this kept the Ferry running on time.

Quick we had a travel trailer we got on with no problems shortened up the trip by about 35 minutes
This morning the line was long by the time we were on turned off we were on the road

Super quick and we did not wait long to get on it. We rode over in the car. Easy and free and we would use it again. Very capable staff.

A quick and easy way to get across the pass. At midmorning both ways there was no line. But they have multiple ferries that can be used for busy times.

This is a great way to go back and forth to Port Aransas. You may have a wait during the day, but well worth it.

A great experience!!! A no-nonsense approach as we followed the directions of the Ferry staff guiding us onto the boat. Within only a few minutes we were off to the other side with a short ride.

My husband and I rode down to Port Aransas on a very busy Valentine's day Friday to stay in Port Aransas for the weekend. We were very happy to be able to cut the very long line of cars waiting for the ferry, move directly to the front of the line and be directed to board the ferry very quickly. It was a very cold day and we were happy to have this amenity on the Port Aransas Ferry. Thanks Port Aransas Ferry.

The boarding and deboarding process was run very smoothly and the ride was flawless. Very easy and very convenient.

It's all about timing - we crossed twice with a 15 minute wait however during weekends and high traffic times we've seen the wait time up to over a hour. Traffic control and staff were great when we used the Ferry.

Going over and coming back was a breeze. No wait at all. Going over, we were the last vehicle loaded onto the ferry and coming back, we were the first one loaded on. Workers on the ferry do a great job loading, unloading and directing traffic. Always great to sit back, roll all the windows down and enjoy the short ride. We were able to see a pod of dolphins swim by! Wish the ride was longer.

Very efficient. Great way to cross the channel and not have to drive all away around the city if you want to get to Aransas Pass or Rockport. Would like to have gotten out to watch for dolphins but wasn't made clear if that was allowed. Car next to us rolled down windows and blasted obscene music while blowing smoke out their windows. To the credit of the crew they tried to get them to tone it down which I appreciated. Novel form of transport that saves time too and it's free!

Taking a day tour from corpus to Houston. Fun way to get from Padre island via Port Aransis to the mainland. A free boat ride for you and your vehicle. Plenty of parKing- very designated.

Riding the ferry makes it fun to go to Port Aransas. My little boy loves to get out of the car and watch. Great way to take in a sunset as well.

I've ridden many ferries around the world and this was one of the best I've ever encountered. They had plenty of vessels and attentive staff that kept things organized and moving.

Hit or miss on the wait, took 45 minutes getting on to the island and 30 seconds leaving. It's better than driving the hour down to Corpus and back up tho.

Great way to get off the Gulf - it is only a five minute ride, the staff are so efficient. The best part - it is FREE

This was a great experience! I loved riding across the jetty on the ferry. It reminds me of the Matthew McCaughnahey commercial.:) The workers are very efficient at getting all the vehicles onboard &off & you're allowed to get out of your car and walk around. But the ride only takes about 5 minutes so you have to get out pretty quick

The ferry is a must when in Port A just watch peak times as there can be a bit of a wait at times, especially close to check out times and during spring break.

Well, it’s not the only way to get a across, but it is definitely shorter. We had at least one very friendly “boat man” on our several trips. We even road the new boat at least once. We had a boat attached to us on one trip which requires a little special attention. My husband was a little surprised when we were allowed to pull the motor home with the suburban attached. I told him I had done this before but he was still surprised. This also takes some special attention and you have to cut your generators off. Kids were asleep for that trip.

What can I say? It's a boat. You drive your car on it and it takes you across the channel. Simple, effective, and safe.

This free ferry boat is a neat thing to do right as you head into Port Aransas. It was our first time to ride in our vehicle on a ferry boat. The line wasn’t too long, TXDOT workers were organized and kept things moving, and it was easy to maneuver into our spot on the boat. Once you put it in park and turn off your engine, you get to enjoy an easy ride across the bay and take in the scenery. Our whole family enjoyed this unique experience!

Where else can you find a free ferry with good views. You often get a Dolphin show on the way over. Also up close and personal to the ships that sail into Corpus Christi. Waited almost an hour once but that was a busy day for the big ships that get right of way.

A must for every trip to Port Aransas. We board the ferry every time we visit Port A...even if we don't need to. Just a cool experience every time.

Made the mistake of visiting Port A on Labor Day. The volume of people trying to leave from vacation and use the ferry was horrible. Streets were backed up, numerous vehicles hauling trailers or rvs took up lots of space. Ferry system was overwhelmed. Staff did their best, but don't put yourself through this on a holiday weekend!

This ferry ride was pleasant, but far shorter than I'm used to. In my home area, the ferry rides range from 18-75 minutes, so this three minute trip was different and a bit disappointing. The captain revved the motor for about 45 seconds to get halfway across, then dead-sticked the boat the rest of the way to the other side. There wasn't time to get out of the car to look around. The loading process was efficient. There were multiple boats running on the Sunday that I visited. It was pleasant enough, but when the ride is so short that you can't even get out of the car to stretch your legs, it's not an attraction. This ferry is simply transportation.
The distance covered was

who would have thought that you would have so much fun on a Ferry! I love watching the dolphins. the workers do a great job! Its fun to people watch too

The ferry ride is fun short ride on and off if you haven't ridden it, you should just for fun. The kids think it is super. There are always dolphins in the channel and since its part of public transportation its free.

Really enjoyed the ride, and the service was good. Wish it was longer, just spoiled after ridden the Washington State ferries many, many times

Both ways did not have to wait more than 15 minutes. The employees are very polite and know their business

They are redoing the road to the ferry, a mess at peak times. As bad as a 1 hour wait to get off Aransas Pass Island. Avoid at morning, noon and evening. Especially w/ RV trailer.

Weird very industrial area compared to the surrounding peace. Very good very fast, friendly staff and lots to watch as you cross over

Crossed the channel on the ferry six times during our vacation. Wait time 10 Thursday afternoon - 50 minutes on Sunday at noon. Attendants work efficiently in the heat of August.

This ferry is so amazing! It's a short little ride but the kids and I love watching the dolphins along the way! Well be there this weekend camping on the beach!

Operated by the state of Texas saves about 60 miles if you drove from Port A to Rockport. Sometimes there can be wait of several minutes to get on. The best part of it all is that it is FREE!

These crews know their stuff. Super organized and efficient, expert directing, and friendly to boot. The Port Aransas Ferry System has it down. Icing on top: getting to see dolphins while on it! (For free!)

We rode the ferry twice and it was efficient each time. There is not a charge for the ride and we were able to see several dolphins swimming.

We have used the ferry many times and find that your wait time can be 1.25 hours to 5 minutes - all depending on the traffic. The staff are generally pretty good and they have a regular system to get cars on and off efficiently. You can expect long waits to Port A during morning rush hour and long waits from Port A during evening rush hours and Sunday mornings when tourists are leaving.

Great quick ride took about 10 mins to get due to normal traffic. I don’t understand some of these neg reviews. Effective staff moving traffic.

If you're lucky dolphins can frequently be seen swimming the channel. The new boats are great and it's a smooth ride. Great, courteous and friendly crew!

great crew and very helpful loading. My grands enjoyed seeing a tug and barge passing and the sea birds.

This was our first experience taking our car onto a ferry. We arrived in the dark around 9:30 at night on Feb. 28th. It was not crowded and it was very easy to drive our car onto this ferry. It only took about 10 minutes to load the 6 other cars onto the ferry and it was a short 5 minute ride to the City of Port Aransas. It was free and a very positive experience!

If you're crossing over to Port Aransas from the mainland, this short ferry trip is the way to go. Otherwise you would have to access the island from Corpus Christi. It's free, you can remain in your car and if you're lucky there won't be more than a few minute wait.

The wait for ferry is ridiculous. Seems like they only have 2 or 3 running on the busiest hours. They always jump out of order on loading. So makes wait time another 20 to 30 min. Even the slowest days it still takes a while to get a ferry

I have ridden many ferries and this was probably the most efficient one I have been on. The wait was never more then 5 minutes on the 6 times we rode and the crossing is so fast you barely have time to get out to look for dolphins (we saw them twice).

Be prepared to be frustrated when cars that that were behind you in line get on the boat before you, and you have to wait for the next boat. Appeared to be no rhyme or reason, such as vehicle size, weight or number of passengers.

As the waiter on Mustang Island suggested, the Port Aransas Ferry was a great way to see the dolphins swimming. The transit was about 10 minutes and VERY rough, but the ferry was very capably piloted.

It was real enjoyable crossing the channel on a ferry. It is free and great experience. Easy on and off.

The people working the ferry were professional. The ride is short and we didn't wait over 15 minutes either time. The other route would have been about as long as we'd have been in traffic. It is free.

Great short ferry ride to Port Aransas. Normally quick and a fun ride. Staff friendly and there are always ships dolphins or other something to see and its free

Although the ferry ride is very short, it is always fun for all. Especially if you go during the day and can catch the dolphins playing.

I rode early one morning. The wait was minimal Loading was efficient. Peak periods can result in 15-20 minute delays. The crossing ride itself is very short

But not quick. 30-minute wait to get across but the ride itself is only about 5 minutes. Seems like lots of construction in the area; hence, the wait. But certainly saves time getting to Port Arkansas.

This is a free ferry service between Port Aransas and Aransas Pass, Texas. It is very well organized and quick. Although you remain in your vehicle during the ride, you can see above the sides of the ferry. There is a very large oil rig to see up close in Aransas Pass. This is a great service and it's a nice change from driving. Would definitely use it again.

What a convenient way to get from Port Aransas to Aransas Pass. It cut the length of our trip. Very helpful staff.

Time of day and day of week can certainly effect your wait time. We arrive from Aransas Pass on a Friday mid-afternoon and waited about 45 minutes to board a ferry. We left Port Aransas on a Sunday morning before 9:00 and wait was about 30 minutes. Ships passing thru the channel can also stop ferry traffic briefly. Ferry operators work hard and manage to keep traffic flowing as quickly and safely as possible so be kind. Don't be afraid to step out of your car for the crossing and look for dolphins!

Very professional and quick service while we were there. No issue whatsoever. Would use this free service again without hesitation.

Couldn’t wait to take my kids on the ferry for the first time, get our and watch... now we have to stay in the car, and the workers are sooo rude!

It's a ferry. It gets you from one side to the other. It is a very short trip. I arrived early afternoon on Tuesday during the off season. The wait was short. Cars are packed on tightly. The ferries are small and you cannot get out of your car and would not have time anyway. It is free and should be considered transportation instead of a tourist attraction.

This Review is Relavant, because Who would ever think a Ferry Ride is quick?
You wi need Patients, for The Line, The Ferriez to get all before your vehicle, and bring, fluids, Ble to hold P or Poop, for an extended time, Your Sense of Humor, Thanks ti All Working The Ferries, I think the Ferry System if Port Aransas and Aransas Pass Texas AWESOME WITH HEARTS AND FLOWERS!! We Had a sad situation brightened with lite hearted banter..Thank to You..

We are a family from Austin, on a beach hopping summer vacation.
On the way to Port A beach from Corpus there was no wait. We drove straight on the ferry and spent the 3 minute ride at the front of the ferry watching dolphins swim in the bay!
On the way back there was a long line but it moved very quickly and we boarded within 10 minutes of getting in line.
Great experience for our kids enjoying their first ferry ride!

Even if the line is long, this service is run very efficiently. The staff are usually smiling, which says a lot.

It’s a super quick ride, but still something unique to do if you hail from a land-locked part of the state. Super organized and not a long wait at all. Our biggest tickle is the ride is free of charge! Thank you TXDOT!

Even though it is a short hop it is still fun to take the ferry. Watch the dolphins or relax for the ride. Deb w

Took the ferry across the bay from Port A. The loading onto the ferry took longer than the ride. However it was handled in a very professional manner and was a great experience.

Great service, free even, staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Shirt rude and the wait was not too Lonestar

Once you get on the ferry it is a short ride (1Approx. 8-10 minutes). The wait time to get on varies, weekends can be very long.

Wow they have multiple ferry going at a time. It’s a quick ride so you can’t get out the car but you can still see the dolphins.

Prompt and efficient service with free entertainment - you are sure to see dolphins during your crossing.

The ferry traffic has gotten a lot faster over the last couple of years. The organization of the cars and boats seems better and the lines are not as long.

Love to ride the ferry and watch the dolphins! short ride to Port Aransas. Usually no wait time and a fun ride!

You can not help but relax S soon as you get on the ferry. No cost Less than 10 Minute Wait.
Watch the dolphins swimming near the ferry.

Just drove over. Green water. Only 15 min wait on a Friday afternoon!! What fun. No dolphin sightings, though.

Very professional workers. More of the larger ferry boats now. Even longer lines move right along. Accommodated our travel tralier and golf cart trailer with no problems.

The Ferry is ran proficiently and professionally. It is a quick ride from the mainland to the island. Although it is free, you have to wait in line at times. It's best to hit the ferry early in the morning. But the line does move quickly.

We crossed pulling a 35 foot fifth wheel. Ferry staff had cars load ahead of us then directed us to park taking up two of the three lanes in the back row of cars. No problem at all.
There are highway signs that post expected wait times as you approach the ferry area. During our stay on the island there were several times that the sign read “ No RVs or 5th wheels due to low tide”. Something to be aware of that could happen. I don’t know how many hours that would have delayed us. Guess we were lucky with our timing.

Sure, you can get to Port A via Corpus Christi by crossing the causeway and then driving about 18 miles up Mustang Island, but the experience of the ferry is great....it puts you immediately in the mood for the Island....(occasionally you may see dolphins while crossing on the ferry

The wait to get on the ferry was short. We were not allowed to get out of our vehicles and were told that if we had our windows down we had to wear a mask. The ride across was only around 5 minutes long. Took longer to get on and off the boat than it did to cross. Could not see much from our vehicles. The staff was courteous.

We don't ride the ferry much but it is always an adventure! Always amazed at how these tings work!!!

This is RIDICULOUS! The trip literally takes 5 minutes on the ferry but it can be a 2 hour wait to go 100 yards. It’s insane. Port A is really cool with pretty water and really nice beaches and friendly people but that ferry is a nightmare. Galveston Ferry is a blast and well worth the wait and take like 20 minutes, this in Port Aransas is a laughable joke. Come on Texas. Build a small causeway, this is a very popular beach

Takes longer to load and unload than the trip itself, but there are so few of these left in Texas we feel compelled to savor the experience each time we visit the island. Often have a dolphin or two alongside to keep you company!

I grew up going on the ferry to visit the island. Still have a great time watching for the dolphins that play in the channel. It’s efficiently run and the staff are very courteous and informative if you get a chance to talk to them. Before making the trip, I suggest you check on line for the wait time. It can be long, especially on weekends. So plan accordingly.

The ferry crew are dedicated and deserve the respect they need for this job is not easy, they are #1

Super quick and we did not wait long to get on it. We rode over in the car. Easy and free and we would use it again.

There was no waiting and everyone was pleasant. We were across in less than 10 minutes. And we got to watch the dolphins jumping. So much fun.

The 8 year old loved the ferry ride. She wished it was longer!
I’m sure the wait might be tiring in the busy season, but the ferry employees were fast and efficient in their work.

They had 4 ferries running, so the wait was minimal. Very fast trip across the small bay. Very efficient operation.

Every time we come to Port A, the ride over is one of our highlights! Watching the dolphins and the reality that we’re back.

System runs like clockwork - we took the ferry to shop in Aransas Pass - it was very foggy so we will have to go again and get the full experience when we can see better

We have enjoyed talking the Ferry back and forth between the islands and the main land. It runs on schedule and the staff do their jobs well. It's easy to get on and off the boat.

I think they have newer ferries since the last time I was here; back then we were able to get out of our cars for just few minutes to check things out. This seemed much faster than before, but was still a fun process. We saw dolphins leading some of the boats. We went at a non-busy time, but hardly had a wait, and the whole process was pretty fast and efficient. Good, cheap/free fun!

We had 3 kids with us {7,7 and 15} that hadn't been on a ferry. It was a great way to talk about the island, fish, ships that come thru the causeway.

My husband and I have been enjoying the ferries in Port Aransas for over 40 years. Our last trip was in December 2020. About 4 ferries were running and our wait to get on the ferry was about 5 minutes. The time is much longer during the summer and holidays. Watch for the dolphins in the channel. Roberts Point Park is a good place to see dolphins as well. It took over 5 minutes to load the ferry and the trip across the channel took about 5 minutes. The ferries are large enough to handle a truck pulling a big travel trailer. The ferry is free.

Everyone was very efficient, making your trip as quick as possible. A great system they have going. Appreciated that!!

We always take the ferry from Aransas Pass to Port A!!! We could go through Corpus but we enjoy the ride over on the ferry to start out adventure in Port A!! We leave the same way like an extra thrill before we have to leave...something about being on the water in your vehicle kind of gives a thrill!! Never had a problem!! It costs nothing!! :)

Came to the beach with friends. Only waited 5 minutes to drive on the ferry. Short ride over to Port Aransas and we were on our way to the beach. Staff very efficient! Was able to get out of car to take pictures of pelicans too!

Usually a short wait and quick trip, although at times can be pretty long. Fun at first...than not so much. It's a have to though.

Staff are very good at what they do and the quick trips on the boats are fun. Not uncommon to see dolphins in the channel by the way.

Always fun to take a ferry ride, but the wait time for a weekend ride was close to an hour. The actual ride to the other side is only about 5 minutes and the new rules don’t allow you to get out of your vehicle, which limits your view and the experience. A bit disappointing if on a vacation. Ok I guess if you need to travel over the pass and don’t want to take the long way through Corpus Christi.

The ferry system is pretty efficient. Lived seeing dolphin and pelicans while on the ferry. You can also see where wind turbines are made.

Went back and forth several times while out exploring the area. Fast ride, minimal wait while we were there had 5 running. Waits were less than posted times

This is a really interesting ferry service. They are constantly on the move. I think there were four boats and four docks, and they were all moving at different stages throughout the day.
The people working there are magicians. They manage to keep the lines of cars in order and always know which vehicle should go next and which one will fit to fill the boat.
The trip across the channel seems to be about 200 yards.
There isn't always a long line - only during busy times.
It is quite an operation. Fascinating.

The crew is efficient and professional and the wait for us was zero minutes. The captain docked the ferry as if it was carrying crates of eggs. We love the ferry ride.

It was my first time riding on a ferry and i was definitely not disappointed. Its very short so you cant get sick on the ride but its long enough to take in the view.

I'm not sure why a bridge is not build over the channel but the ferry system appears to be pretty efficient. We'ver traveled across the ferry six times in the past two weeks and had less than a five minute wait four times, ten minutes one time and a half hour once. Not bad considering the system was designed decades ago. The employees are plentiful and give clear directions on which lane to pull into and where to get on and off the ferry. Not much more to say - it's a ferry.

Thank you to the people who get us across the channel 24/7/365; we appreciate you so much. Everyone is efficient and answer questions about wildlife and ships!

Fast, great, free service from Port Aransas to the Corpus Christi side. Plenty of ferries and quick trips across.

Thw employees guided me onto the ferry in a professional manner. It was a quick boat ride across the waterway or channel.

It’s unbelievable that this ferry is FREE, but be prepared to wait 30-60 minutes (my experience) during peak times and peak seasons. It’s a fun little ride and enjoyed by kids and adults. The workers I spoke with were very nice, although, some appeared they would rather be somewhere else.

On a recent visit to Texas we decided to take an alternative and more attractive route from Corpus to Houston....to include the Port Aransas Ferry...we had read of delays and long waits..On arrival there were perhaps around 40 vehicles queueing...but within a few minutes we were on one of the three ferries operating that day and ten minutes or so later after allowing river traffic to pass we were on our way for the short crossing.
How nice to have a most pleasant break from driving and it was free

To the point they need to have a restroom on this ferry the crew grumpy but we didn't have to deal with them but for 15 minutes

We took the ferry 4 times during our trip to go explore Rockport, Fulton & Aransas Pass. Quick & very efficient. God bless those wonderful workers who had to be out on that cold windy day last week. Thankyou

Coming in to port Aransas we decided to take the ferry since it was free and my son had never been on one. The line moves fast, but it was quite the line. Also, keep in mind once the car is on the ferry you have to turn off the car so either get it super cold in the car or roll down the windows. It can be quite hot, but I am still glad we did it for something different and free.

The Ferry is so much fun!!! a must if you go to the island. Try going not during peak times, and look for dolphins!

The ride was very interesting the way they loaded each car and managed to maneuver each vehicle into place and cross with such precision, it was amazing

We use this ferry to cross from Port Aransas to Aransas Pass. It goes really fast and the line is not more than 10 minutes. You drive on and I suppose you could get out if you had space. We were trapped in between 2 giant trucks, So there was no room to open our doors and get out. It's a really quick jaunt across the water. They are very organized and it is free.

As good as it gets ... Free, takes only a few mins, minimal wait, and we saw plenty of birds and dolphins around us. How could it be any better?

Very efficiently run, but you will still have a 30-60 minute wait in the summer. They have a web site that will tell you the current wait time.
Efficient
A short free ferry ride efficiently connects the Mainland to Port Aransas. We waited about 20 minutes, however the wait can be much longer or shorter. Be sure to take your restroom break before getting into the car line. Passengers remain in their vehicles.
