Jack Sizemore RV Museum

By DPB1658 |

Well worth the visit! Enjoyed the display and variety!
The original bus from the movie RV was on display. Takes you back in time. And then, you can go browse the new RV’s . Amazing what options are available.

Amazing

We loved the museum. Thanks Jack and Trent for collecting and preserving and thank you to the staff for being lovely. We absolutely loved it. I’ll tell everybody back home about it.

Amazing

By jimmiec235 |

The museum at Jack Sisemore/soon to be Camping World is amazing. Enjoyed all the vintage trailers and decorations around and in them.

This is pretty darn cool!

By dmogie |

This small family museum is tucked away in the back lot of a large RV dealership. A very clean and friendly place! It may only take a half hour to see everything but the several vintage camping trailers are so fun to walk through! There are many older motorcycles also- not many vintage ones but an interesting mix from the past few decades.

Great fun

By sjhines |

Just an excellent little museum! Great staff very friendly and helpful! Just some of the neatest old rvs you can think of , as children of the 70s those were amazing the golds and greens brought back lotsa memories!

Great step back in time

By Badgelady |

First of all, this museum is located within a real travel trailer RV business... and it is FREE! Lots of beautifully restored travel trailers and buses that visitors can enter to observe the accurate period dishes, appliances, and coffee tins. Really lets the visitor get a glimpse of early travel trailer adventures. The only trailer whose insides were off limits to visitors was the 1935 Airstream called the Torpedo. Other exhibits were vintage motorcycles and bicycles as were as an early A&W store.
Would be worth an admission price but was a very enjoyable afternoon experience

Fun stop!

By talk2planes |

Enjoyed the RV museum self guided tour. Interesting and displays were well done with story boards on most of the RVs. Fun to learn the history. Folks in the store were very helpful/friendly.

Five Stars

By jazzie F |

The minute you walk in to the building, you know you're in for a real treat. Nostalgia abounds, around and above. The first star therefore goes for immediate impact. Take a breath, you're in for an experience.

The second star is for the motor vehicle collection. The RV's have first billing (although Harley or bicycle fans may object), and wow, this is a collection of some wonderful ones. How about the first 1935 airstream ever made? Or an Itasca or Avion or any number of other beautifully restored RV's from an era when people first started enjoying them? Then there is a fantastic collection of Harley motorcycles, the early ones which most interested me but all of which interested my husband.

The third star goes for the exhibits, and not just those for camping. There's a soda fountain, a gas station, a fish camp, and others that so well round out the travel land theme. Wonderful!

But wait, there's more. The fourth star goes to the accessories that round out the exhibits and give them depth and personal meaning. Antique cameras, coolers, tricycles, gas and oil cans, pumps, camp stools, toys, cigarette and bubblegum and candy machines galore, ice chests, and so much more. Yes, I had one of those and one of those and grandma had that one............ Kudos, well done!

Lastly, a huge star goes to the owners who collected items for and built this free exhibit. Thank you so much for your restoration effort and for giving an entry fee break. It's much appreciated!

If you like RV's, this is a must-see

By Bill Susan G |

I am glad we had a chance to see this museum but more than that, I'm glad to see that these RV artifacts as well as the motorcycles they have there are being cared for by people who know and appreciate them

A hidden gem!

By rjackson01 |

Enjoyed our visit to this little museum. Great campers and RVs. Very nice staff. When in Amarillo check it out.

Fun Stop On The Way

By aprescafe |

This was a great 30 minute detour on my roadtrip from Tulsa to Santa Fe. The staff at the dealership were friendly and directed us back to the museum with no sales pressure. The collection is free to visit and a unique look at RV history in the US.

One of the best things on Route 66. Essential.

By tristanclappe |

We've travelled most of Route 66 on a few separate occasions. This is a great place to visit. Really interesting, lots to see, immaculately presented. It's not just about RVs. Plus its free!!! Our 4 year old loved it. You can go in All the old RVs and it was like a giant playground. The dealership offer great service and when I win the lottery I will go back and buy from them!

Great collection!

By Morris N |

Wonderful collection of restored vintage RVs and camping equipment. Even better, it’s free!!!
The first Winnebago, and RVs dating back to the 1930’s, including the oldest Airstream. Well worth a stop.

Worth seeing

By MCSeadog |

Very cool examples of old travel trailers and rv’s. The staff is super friendly and happy to answer any questions but that rv’s speak for themselves. If you like history, motorcycles, cars, or rv’s make the stop to this little gem.

Nice If You Can Find It

By VillagerRick |

This museum is no longer behind the RV dealership. It is in a warehouse that shares space with a Motorsports Museum. The hours are somewhat limited - Thursday through Saturday 10 - 3. Also know this warehouse is not air conditioned (they have a recently installed swamp cooler). It is nice they still allow you to enter most of the vintage RVs. It is difficult to find, and when you get there, not much signage to help you know you are there.

Didn’t get to see it

By Janie Johnson |

This isn’t where the address says. They moved. But they give you a map to get to it. They suggest you call before going as sometimes they aren’t open. We called, and they are only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

RV museum in RV dealership

By ransom007 |

There is free parking and admission to the museum is free. The museum is located behind the Jack Sisemore Traveland RV dealership. When you enter, someone will take you through the dealership, out to the back lot, and to the museum. You are then left on your own. There are many examples of vintage recreational vehicles and over 20 motorcycles. If you have an hour to kill and are in the area, it is not a bad way to do it.

Neat collection!

By Jim F |

Fun to see the collection of travel trailers and motor homes. Interesting to see the things that have changed/improved and the things that have stayed the same over the years. Kind of warm in the building but we’ll worth it.

Great Place for RV and Harley Enthusiasts

By Bob T |

Wow, what a cool little RV museum. The museum has a nice selection of classic RVs and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Most of the pieces have either been nicely restored or are in the original, but very well maintained, condition. All of the pieces have been nicely staged and have a placard that describes it. In addition, there is a nice selection of classical memorabilia like Coke and cigarette vending machines, a Juke Box, and the inside of an A&W diner.

Unbelievably interesting

By ki0ki |

They have some one of a kind trailers and motorbikes. Vintage(oldest Airstream), famous( Happy Max) and cute( VW Bus). Also many Harleys and a few other motorcycle gems( Triumph and Bultaco). They have THE first Itasca prototype serial number ONE. Climate controlled in there so good any time of the year to visit. Definitely a must see.

Unexpectedly great collection!

By Gegyte |

We stopped by because a local person ensured me it was worth a visit. Max Factor founder made trailors, another one from Woodstock festival... impressive things to see and learn.

Road trip

By Deborah P |

My husband and I enjoy every RV camping and couldn’t miss this stop. It was so fun and free. Lots of vintage campers. I highly recommend if you are in the area.

New address!

By Lauri M |

This museum is in a new location on I-27 and it kind of hard to find. When we got there, a gentleman in a red t-shirt was outside waving to let people know where the museum was. There is no sign (as of yet) letting you know the museum is even there. One showroom had the RVs in it that you could go inside, the other had a pace car Corvette, motorcycles, and race cars. Admission is free.

PLEASINGLY SURPRISED!!!!

By Shawn C |

FIRST - I want to let you know that you will not see signs for this from the road. You have to turn into an RV dealership and go in and ask about the museum. It is in the back of the dealership. The man that took me back to the museum was very nice! I visited with my 13 year old daughter. She wasn't impressed at first but go into it after she saw the RV from the movie RV. They also have motorcycles, bicycles, cars and more. This brought me back to my childhood and when my father took us camping. This museum was worth the stop and plan on going back with friends next time in Amarillo.

Excellent museum !!!

By Anand S |

This one is an amazing museum with some great collections. Must see for those who love Vintage Bikes & RV Trucks.

Small museum

By Linda D |

This is a small RV museum with a RV dealership. They have vintage RVs and great little place for some pictures.

Worthwhile stop if you like RVs and Harleys

By hanskar |

This was better than I expected! Nice collection of vintage Harley’s, many trailers and RVs that are rare from the 30s through the 70s. Some have been restored and are housed in a large indoor showroom. Period props set the stage. Many trailers are open and you can walk in them. I really enjoyed this stop. Located in the back of an RV dealer. Friendly staff and very clean. Also free admission. Takes about an hour to see everything!!

Terrific

By jeff3545 |

We were pretty skeptical going in, but we had some time to kill headed to the airport. What a wonderful detour. The restored RVs are beautiful, and you can climb into most of them. Each one has a nice explanation of what it is and what its history has been. Really first rate curatorial notes. This really is a must see if you are in the neighborhood.

Great rv collection!!

By RickTylerTexas |

Located at an long established dealership. Owner has been collecting, and restoring for many years. Some very cool, and even one of a kind items. Like the bus from the movie R.V. And its free!! Also lots of motorcycles. a museum in it's own right. Also some one of a kind. If like to look at historic r.v.s. this is a can't miss.

Jack Sisemore’s RV museum defines nostalgia!

By kadingis |

Well, this was an unplanned surprise! Thanks to Trip Advisor for this hidden gem. It is a super delightful museum that turns back the hands of time. The world’s oldest Airstream camper resides here. And the VW bus is definitely the real deal. There is free popcorn by the service counter. Be careful, though, after visiting the museum, you might get bit by the RV bug and find yourself shopping around for a new camper!

Great Find

By Nita L |

Actually used trip advisor and found this museum......glad we did! We don't have an RV but found this collection of old RV's, motorcycles and other memorabilia very interesting!!! Nice that you can actually go in the displays which are original and have old items in them. We spent over an hour here and then had a look around the shop of new camping equipment. Bought a t-shirt for a friend who does have an RV.

Must see in amarillo

By fozzie555 |

This is a must see indoor museum , with well restored RV and trailers , some great examples of Harley Davidson , liked the mocked up diner and the jukebox playing some great stuff
You can go into almost all of the exhibits, loved the bus from the RV movie, pity they didn’t restore the RV from the film
Although this is a working RV Garage all of the staff went out of there way to help you

Can’t believe this is free , you can park on the street if the parking area is full

A Hidden Gem

By Nadia B |

I thoroughly enjoyed taking a walk through time with RVs. Such a cool place to visit! We even took the kids to the new RV section to show them the difference between the older 'classics' and modern day campers!

Travel Through Time

By Jennifer L |

Great stop. Free museum that is very well kept. There are a number of vintage RV's, cars, motorcycles and even a boat on display. You can walk through the RV's . Each one has other historical or cultural items from it's time period. Everything is displayed in a large warehouse no AC. I recommend going early in the day if it's hot outside. Besure to check their actual website limited hours and they are not open everyday.

Interesting

By Jim R |

Well worth the trip. Very well put together displays. Not overwhelming. Just the right amount of info

The oldest Airstream trailer is here

By steveosspace |

What a cool spot. The RV shop is well found, but the museum is a real labor of love. The owner and family clearly love the road. You can go through most of the RVs, but some are real relics and are "eyes only." That's okay though. The kids loved the whole experience. Oh... and it's free. Can you believe that? Heads up, parking is a little tight.

Great place to go see history

By David S |

This is behind the sales area of an RV sales and service center. They not only have old restored RVs but they also have quite a few Harley Davidson motorcycles that have been restored, including a Harley with a side car that was built for the war. It’s really a nice example of how people used to go camping and travel the country. Highly recommend this!

Nostalgic experience

By Susan E |

This was a quick visit when we arrived in Amarillo. The staff were friendly and admission was free. The RVs, campers and motorcycles were interesting as all had a story card with them. I was able to see the pop-up camper we used as a kid with my family.

This was unbelievable

By clarson2016 |

We had a travel snafu in Amarillo and found ourselves with extra time to look around. This place has a bit of everything -- especially for those that love vintage items. THANK YOU!!

A must-see if you like any type of RV!

By Brad D |

They have lot's of interesting historical RV's, including an original Wally Byam Airstream that was used in the caravan.

A labour of love

By Neil B |

Fantastic little specialty museum. Free entry. Located in the Sisemore RV business. Old motor homes and caravans plus a few motorcycles.

Really well done and worth getting off the interstate to visit.

Loved it!!

By Caroline H |

Thankfully we didn’t pay attention to the last review who must’ve gone to the old location from years prior. The RV museum is still open Thursday through Saturday 10:00 to 3:00 . They do close for the winter at the end of October.

Interesting!!

By Alix |

This museum is worth your time. We spent about an hour, and enjoyed looking at the beautiful, vintage RVs. The employees are super friendly, and the displays are well done. You can actually go into many of the RVs. This attraction is free, and I would imagine even kids would enjoy this.

FUN and Free RV Museum

By TexasTraveler08 |

We recently visited Palo Duro Canyon State Park and a friend who had visited last year recommended this RV Museum in Amarillo. It did not disappoint! It's located on the back lot of the Sizemore RV sales center and Jack has quite a collection of vintage RV's, cars and motorcycles from when RV's originally began to be made. It was fun to see some of the especially older campers and RV's and one on display is from a Robin Williams movie "R.V.". It took us a little over an hour to look at everything. If you're in Amarillo and looking for something to do, this was a fun visit!

Blast from the past

By buckeyeblazer |

This great RV museum is located in the back a dealership. Interesting exhibits with many different items displayed. Well worth the time to visit.

Fun place to visit

By shnpan |

The museum is in a building at the back of the RV sales lot. It is fun to explore and see the early RVs. There is no charge to visit the museum.

Unique and Fun

By Nanny006 |

We were very glad to find out about this place. My son, my grandaughter and myself went out not knowing what to expect but it was a lot of fun. Most of the RVs were open and you could go inside and look and even sit in the driver's seat. There were also motorcycles and old juke boxes and even old cigarette machines. It was such a nice clean organized place. We really enjoyed it and it was free!!!

What a pleasant surprise!

By Dan and Bonnie B |

We travel a lot by RV and thought we should check this place out. What a great way to spend a couple of hours. Great history of the Rv world. Several one of a kind and also many old motorcycles. Really enjoyed this place and it’s free. Go for it!

Step back in time

By nina h |

What a great little hidden gem! So amazing to see the vintage RV's and then be able to go inside them as well. They had so many different styles and even the RV flex bus from the Movie RV'ing with Robin Williams. Had a variety of vintage motorcycles, corvettes and other items. The 2 brothers at the front entrance love to hear your stories of where you come from and where you are going :) of course we loved their dog Blue who is a sweetie. Thank you for this fantastic museum as we greatly enjoyed ourselves and will be back next time in town!
Don't forget to make a donation to keep the place going!

Take time out for this stop!

By Peggy W |

My husband & I are in our late 60's & this museum brought back so many fond memories. My husband has an obsession for motorcycles, so the old & new bikes (mainly Harley's) were right up his alley! Loved seeing how much has been changed over the years. Time does fly by when you look at it from our view!

Fun for the RVer if you're nearby

By KatyTwinMom |

This was a fun one hour visit. I'd say go if you're nearby and have the time but don't go out of your way. We took our three young children and they had fun running around touring the RVs themselves. My husband and I really enjoyed looking through them and reading the history of each. It's a small place but well maintained and laid out. Parking is hard. We had to park on the access road with several other people.

Memories and Education

By drchisum |

The displays are all accessible but a few. Great restorations. Collections are top notch. Reproductions are superb. Much time & care went into it. Impressive history. Many who go in are respectful of the displays. Have been twice and will go again whenever we have company. Got to relive some of our past as kids. Hope it can remain open & free. But if not, would pay to see it. If I catch abusers of it, I will personally escort them out. (They can go standing or dragged out. Their choice.) Great job. Very grateful to the Sisemores for it.

Thank you Sisemore's

By BrakiWorldTraveler |

Visiting this place was on our bucket list, as we planned it beforehand. There's absolutely no chance you bump on this place, as it's behind an RV sales plot by the highway inclusion, out of Amarillo tourist area. When parked and entered we even thought we missed it, as you walk in a spare parts shop. A kind lady at the desk showed us the way to the separate building at the back.
There's the entrance, totally free. Displayed are many trailers and RVs together with several Harley Davidson motors, which are displayed vertically. By each exhibit is a plaque explaining about it. The tour is self guided and takes less than an hour, around 45 min. Apart from RVs, there's a gas station replica with original vintage gas pump and soda fountain. From the exhibits displayed, most interesting for us was the red and white bus used in the movie RV, which you can enter.
I have nothing else to say, but do come visit and thank the management enabling us to see such a great display for free.

Free RV museum with more than just RVs

By jrrjr619 |

The RV museum was fantastic. It had some of the oldest RVs I have ever seen and they were all beautifully restored. There were also motorcycles (mostly Harley-Davidsons) that spanned it’s great history (including a Harley-Davidson bicycle). There was much more and this museum is a worthy “must see” spot. Take the time to see it and you won’t be disappointed.

Antiquess of all kinds, mostly related, but not limited, to the RV world.

By Joy C |

A collection or travel trailer, tent trailers, motorhomes, that you should not miss! And the best part - it's all free.
If you're within 500 miles, do not miss this museum.

Retro!

By Susannah M |

This detour is SO worth any amount of time!! Super cool, retro RV’s and camping equipment....old motorcycles and so many cool artifacts!! Everyone was really nice and it’s dog friendly so we could take our fur baby with us thru the museum!! (kept him out of the RV’s and away from the displays)

Excellent!

By Bonnie J |

We stopped by to see the museum and were pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth the time! They have restored many RVs as well as telling the history of them. It’s located inside the dealership and was free! We loved it!

Took me Back In Time!

By Debbie P |

Loved this museum!!! So many good memories! This was one of the top 3 things we did on our trip to Amarillo. A must see.

Not RV friendly

By Sara D |

We were traveling through Texas in our 24 ft class A Motorhome and were excited to stop at this museum as we had heard many great things about it. For an RV museum and dealership, it's anything but RV friendly. The parking lot is so small. There is barely room for cars, let alone any type of RV! We drove around the block twice to make sure there was no nearby parking area. There was not. Poor planning,... Poor design. Don't waste your time or efforts on this place.

Road Stop

By Janna |

This was an amazing stop if you have any love for camping or motorcycles. The RVs in the museum are staged so beautiful and most are set up where you can walk through them! Don’t miss this!

Hard to find - but interesting

By AnnTRockHill_SC |

This was very hard to find - appears to be in an industrial, fenced property. But large sign on road said "museum." So we turned and kept looking - small building on right with waving "open" banner. Great private collection. No ac but fans around to move air. No charge and friendly fellow welcomed us.

Fun Stop

By Jturner |

We LOVED this museum. The history of the family and how they came to have this collection was very interesting. We saw things we had never seen before. There was a history on all of the items. Thoroughly a great stop. And free.

Great Collection of Classic RV's

By Jim B |

Was confused at first since it is an RV dealer when you pull up. Once I went inside to ask, they took me back to the RV Museum. There are some great examples of old trailers and motorhomes on display. I enjoyed being able to go in several of them and see what they were like. Especially nice collection for a free myseum.

Fun Little Stop

By brianfI1471IW |

It was great fun to see the vintage RVs, camper trailers, and motorcycles. And at no cost, the price of entry is hard to beat. We only wished there had been a little more info/history and that they had a gift shop.

Must see for RV folks

By LTT |

Enjoyed the collection and story behind the collection of old RV's and camping paraphernalia. Brought back a lot of memories of camping as a kid. Fun stop and thanks to Jack for putting this together and keeping it free to the public!

"Ever see a 1921 camper?"

By christopherM8134MB |

Ever see a Harley Davidson bicycle?
Ever see a 1937 tent trailer?
Ever see a 1949 Flxible bus (that was in the Robin Williams movie "RV")?
Ever see a customized 1976 FMC motor home built and owned by Max Factor, Jr.?
Ever see a showroom with many vintage street bikes and 1952 full dress Harley in like new condition?

We saw all of these and much more for free here at the Jack Sisemore Traveland RV Museum.

An interesting experience and well worth the stop! Five Stars!

Worth the stop

By markbonnett |

Not something you see everyday! Well worth the stop. Airconditioned building and friendly people. No tour.

Fun piece if history

By melwashere81 |

Found this place while searching for things to do in Amarillo. I wasn't too sure about it but I'm so glad we stopped. There are so many restored and preserved RVs from earlier decades. Some of them I even remember from back in the day. Most of them you can actually go inside and see all the furnishings. It was pretty awesome. The museum is free but they do take donations. Too bad they didn't have any souvenirs...it would have been cool to get a t shirt. Definitely worth a stop!

Jack Sisemore RV Museum

By Danielle |

Everything in this museum is so well-maintained, well preserved in its original condition and the RVs are even decorated with the vintage Accessories they used in those years which made them even more interesting to look at! We could’ve stayed in there for hours because it definitely takes you back through time!! The museum even has vintage Harley Davidson motorcycles and antique classic cars to admire:) The woman that runs the museum is so nice and went out of her way to explain the RVs and even took a picture of us in the famous RV that was used in the film “RV” The Movie with Robin Williams:) if I could give this place 10 stars I would! it’s definitely a must see!!!

Lots of RV's motorcycles etc. Well worth the time to tour.

By Dan L |

In the summer months, tour the museum in the morning as there are only fans for cooling. An incredible collection of vintage trailers, motor homes, motorcycles etc.

more than you expect

By Rita R |

I didn't know what to expect when I went in, it has several things to look at. To see some of these, brought back so many memories of my Grand-daddy's campers. Great to just look at and great atmosphere.

Delightful!

By nplag |

This is a wonderful treasure to visit. Brought back memories of camping as a child. Many restored old campers and motorcycles. The whole family would enjoy this!

Fun stop!

By Deanne H |

This was a fun little stop! We enjoyed walking through the vintage RV’s and chatting with the volunteers. It was fun to find an RV donated by someone in our hometown.

I loved it and I don’t even have an RV!

By MovableBeast |

This is a fun and free museum in Amarillo, and even if you have no interest in RV’s, it’s worth visiting. My family camped a lot when I was a kid, and a lot of the exhibits reminded me of those trips during the 1960s.

Some of the displays — like the VW van — seem a little “out there”, considering that the VW van is a wreck with flat tires and isn’t even a camper van version. But the old Airstreams and other RVs were classic! Really a lot of fun!

A private Collection of RV's and motorcycles open to the public

By Ann S |

This RV museum is part of the Jack Sisemore RV dealership in Amarillo. It's a free, self-guided tour, and you can tour the interiors of most of the RV's. It was very interesting. He also has a collection of motorcycles - some up high on the walls. There are also cute displays like a motorcycle shop, A&W restaurant, and he has period pieces in and outside the RV's like coolers, fishing equipment, etc.

Worth a stop if you are interested in that sort of thing.

What a fun & unique museum!

By clw52 |

Without TA I would not of found this little gem. It is the perfect size for a collection of cool campers, RV's, and various related memorabilia. The people working at this RV dealership were welcoming and directed you to their lovely museum on the premises. I smiled a lot thinking back on so many of the little details included with every exhibit. What a great idea to preserve and restore these classic modes of travel and adventure, and then share them freely with the public.

Must Stop Here

By 2wheel-navigator |

Almost missed the place - but so glad we made the effort to visit. Talk about a step back in time! We were touring with a large group of motorcyclists and were delighted to see the HUGE selection of bikes in the museum. Great place!

An excellent RV museum in Amarillo, TX ... and possibly unique!

By Stephen S |

A friend told me about this RV museum and highly recommended I visit it. As I'm wandering the US looking at car, motorbike, aircraft, etc museums, this piqued my interest, as I hadn't come across any RV museums in my travels so far (and actually hadn't contemplated that there might be such a thing as an RV museum).

I'm very glad I took the time to go, as it was excellent and you can enter many of the exhibits, which is nice. Also, it is free, something very rare in the US.

Highly recommended!

Must-See!

By Suzuko C |

This place is so neat! For anyone who loves a good road trip, this place is a must-see. It’s a great history of the evolution of recreational vehicles from pre-WWII to modern day. My 11 y/o and almost two y/o LOVED checking out the insides of the RVs on display. Try not to buy an RV on your way out.

Jack Sisemore Traveland TV Museum

By Daniela K |

Took my friend from Las Vegas to the RV museum. The staff was so friendly and seemed really happy we were there! Even if you're not a rec vehicle enthusiast, you'll find some interesting history there. It took us a little over an hour to see it all but I bet we could've spent more time there. Overall had a great experience!

A lot of history in one place

By Travelandfood |

This place was a great experience to learn, see and explore about the RV culture. The museum has several very unique Recreational Vehicles since the 1930’s, as well as a good collection of racing cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles. To enter the museum is free, but donations are welcome.

Unique museum !

By Laurice M |

What a nice museum with some very well done displays of many vintage RV’s. You could even step inside to get a feel for what it really felt like to travel in them. They also had some nice cars and motor cycles to see. The volunteer there was very nice and helpful. I am glad we found the place! Follow the signs and flags and you will find it!

Jack Sizemore RV museum is a hidden gem in Amarillo.

By Christine D |

We loved our visit to the Jack Sizemore Rv Museum ! The lady who greeted us there was very friendly. The old RV’s were so interesting especially the one from the movie “RV” called Happy Max. There was no charge for admittance but it certainly deserves a donation on the way out! We loved our visit there.

Hidden gem

By Linda G |

Wouldn't have known about this except saw it on Trip Advisor. Aa Harley riders and RV'ers, this free museum was perfect for us. Really nice collection of vintage rv's and motorcycles. Lots of vintage accessories, too. They are either original or lovingly restored. Everything is nicely arranged and fun to see. Don't miss it!

worth an hour--very unusual

By Love-to-wander-Mom |

This is a cute place in the back of a business. They were very friendly and there is a lot of memories packed in this building.

Super charged RV Museum and it’s free!

By vrodgers60 |

Incredible collection of RV’s dating back to the 1930’s! You can actually go inside most of them, all restored and many original furnishings and antiques from the time. If you liked the RV movie with Robin Williams, this is a must see with surprise! Harley Davidson collection as well is quite interesting too!

Cool

By vicki d |

Very cool museum if you are into RV'ing. It is small but interesting and the old RV's are in their original condition. Definitely worth a stop in if you are in Amarillo and it is free.

Open on Sunday?

By claud-ecoeure |

Just in front of jack sisemore.
Looks like it's close on Sunday...
Not very cool for a museum when your on the way...

Wasted time

By Roy |

Waste of time as it’s reported to be open hours are wrong, it’s hard to find as signage is very poor and after a long trip here to see it, it was closed

Blast from the past

Wonderful way to see travel/camping from the past. Great examples of travel trailers, camping vehicles and motor homes spanning almost a century. Comfortable setting, take your time and enjoy this free fun and educational tour.

Located at an rv dealership. Wayyy exceeded my expectations. Free to go look around - self guided tour. Lots of motorcycles. Amazing selection of campers to see and check out. Lots of camping knick-knacks from long ago! Service station related items as well. Really glad we stopped!

Free great museum

By Karen P |

Awesome, along with RV’s they have motorcycles, race cars and memorabilia, donation accepted but no admission. Got to into the Gornicke bus! (From movie RV) My only complaint they don’t have the correct address on website, you go to a RV dealer and they give you a map to the new address.

Excellent!

By Shannon O |

This RV museum is well worth the stop! We were even a little star struck by one of the rv's! Most of the RV are open and you can walk in and explore. The have a nice collection of motorcycles too.

This was kinda cool

By Debbie O |

So we stopped here after looking at the for sale Rv's. We figured it would be a gimmick to get you where the salesperson could get you. But...no. It was a neat little bit of nostalgia. A good way to spend a little time.

We are new RV owners and this museum was a perfect stop for us to explore our new pass time. Set up was perfect and included so many unique surprises on the inside of each RV. Best of all, it's FREE!

Great collection of vintage RV's, motorcycles and memorabilia

By Phil C |

Very interesting museum and well worth a stop. Reckon 45 mins to an hour to drink in the 50's atmosphere, checking out vintage RV's, motorcycles and memorabilia.

Oh! And it is free....!!!

Very Nice Museum

By Randall R |

This is a great collection of vintage RV’s, with a good number of nice older Harley’s and Bultaco’s as well. Since I’ve owned an El Camino and still have a Triumph Bonneville, I was really happy to find both in the collection. Lots of classic camping gear, and you are able to go inside most of the RV’s to get a great look at some pretty nice and nicely restored units. No charge for the visit makes it really a great place to stop.

Later the same day we visited the museum, I found that my RV needed a vent replaced due to damage from very high winds. The service department agreed to get me the next morning on short notice, so I have to really thank Jack Sizemore RV! Well worth stopping here as you pass through Amarillo!

Fun for the whole family!

By MrsZiz |

We kind of stumbled across this museum last year when we were camping. We have 3 kids (12, 11, 9 at the time) and they even really enjoyed it. There were two different buildings. One had some old cars, a shuffleboard table and some things on the wall. The shuffleboard table was a giant hit for the kids! We stayed in that little area for about an hour while they played shuffleboard. We went to the museum which had RV's and to our surprise, old Harleys. My dad and stepdad are both big into Harleys so that was fun to snap a few pics for them along with fun for us to see the old bikes too.

The old campers were so fun to explore. They had vintage things set up inside and around them as well. We camp in a camper and the kids thought it was fun to see the old campers and so did they. It was neat to see the vintage camping gear too. They did a really nice job with this place. It was set up as if you would camping in that camper. They had some RVs that had been used in movies too. Overall it was a hit for all of us, highly recommend. I think we spent about 3 hours there total.

A highlight of our trip!

By Rogerdob |

We stumbled upon this place during our trip (billboards directed us to it) and we had a great time exploring the historic RV's on display! They let you walk in them! If you have any type of interest in motorhomes and trailers, this is a MUST SEE! And it's FREE!

More than just RVs

By Polly Cooper |

This museum was very interesting. There was also a lot of old Harley Davidson Motorcycles. If you are a motorcycle buff you would love this place. The trailers were interesting too

Ride Back in History

By Bernard W |

This is a place for everyone of all ages. View road tripping from early recreational vehicles and motorcycles and bicycles and so much more until recent times. Then look at their showroom to view current models. All free, including the delicious chilled water. No pressure to buy in any way. Even the free brochure is excellent listing many of the displayed vehicles in the museum. Highly recommend a stop.

Don’t miss this if you are traveling near Amarillo on I 40!

By ILuvEngland |

I knew we would love this charming blast to the past with RVs from 1921 to 1976 currently displayed. Everyone who visited here and loved it was right, Jack Sisemore started collecting and if needed refurbishing RVs over 25 years ago. The building that houses them is huge. In most cases you can enter the RVs and sit down if you like and snoop around. They are in great shape. It is so interesting and fun to think about seeing places in one of these vehicles if you could learn to drive one! They not only had the RVs on display but things that people would see and use in the time period, like quaint set up to grind and brew coffee, bicycles, games, coolers, etc, one had a 3 D stereoscopic viewer a woman donated after seeing the museum, my grandfather had a similar one. There was a soda counter set up for the early 60’s, old gas pumps, coke machines and cigarette machines. There were some pretty famous RVs there, including one of Charles Kuralt On the Road huge RV’s, one owned by Max Factor, airstream models that seem to look the same today, and a favorite, one used in the movie RV. We had to see the movie after that and found it quite entertaining. Robin Williams a main star in it. If you like motorcycles they have a lot of them including Harleys. The museum is closed on Sunday so plan accordingly , and it is free. We tried to give a donation but were turned down! Really fun for the whole family. Highly recommended, don’t say there is nothing to see in Amarillo! We enjoyed it!

Worth a visit.

By Lori G |

I’ve camped in a trailer since I was young and love trailers. But they also have sports cars and soap derby cars and Harley motorcycles.

They even have the RV from the movie RV that Jeff Daniels drove.

It’s not big, but it’s free! Donations accepted.

A gem

By Fran4747 |

What a wonderful blast from the past! This museum has a fantastic collection of mint condition early RVs. Additionally there is quite a collection of vintage motorcycles. Completing the collection are a few artifacts from the early road trip experiences. A bonus is it’s free! It is at an RV dealership, but they do not bother you with any sales pitch. Any one who likes vintage travel memorabilia will love this place!

Wow! So much to see...amazing!

By R6880WLmanuelg |

We were so surprised to see so many variations of RVs! Some are better than an apartment or home. Unimaginable amenities.

Excellent little RV museum

By Esmée B |

Found this hidden gem on a business park. Very friendly lady at the reception. The exhibition is a small overview of RV camping over the years. Absolutely for free. The RV’s are beautifully restored.
We loved it.

Cool Experience!

By monty_parker |

What a cool experience to spend an hour or so in the RV Museum, with RVs from the past as well as a healthy inventory of motorcycles and such. Complete with settings from years before, such as a soda fountain setup, you don't have to be into camping to enjoy this place. And, it's FREE!

The RV salesman who greeting us and showed us to the museum was also available to answer a lot of questions (we ordered an RV about a month ago from a different dealer since we were just traveling through Amarillo) that we had about the new rig we had ordered. He was both informative and friendly. If we had known him before, we may have ordered our rig through him! Thank you, Loyde Halford of Jack Sisemore Traveland! Next time through, we will stop in, say hello, and buy something from you!

Nice Museum!

By William W |

Jack has put together a unique collection of travel trailers, motor homes and cycles, and it's FREE! Put this on your list when in Amarillo.

Free Rv Museum with Motorcycles and more

By CucaSean |

A lot of history here and well explained. They have some very unique rvs including the rv from Robin Williams movie "RV". They have some of the oldest rvs anywhere and plenty of motorcycles, gas station fixtures, bicycles, trikes and more. You can walk through most of the rvs. The building is climate controlled.

Not Just for RVers

By jakester88 |

This is one of those little gems that makes the American road trip so fascinating. The museum is part of a larger RV sales and service establishment, and it's not the easiest thing to find. But it contains some of the oldest, most unique and most interesting RVs and related items you'll find under one roof, anywhere. RVers will adore it, but if you ever went camping as a kid with Uncle George in his pop-up, if you appreciate innovation and craftsmanship on wheels, or if you're just nostalgic for a slice of Americana from the 40s-60s, this is for you, too. And it's free. Finally, if you're fortunate enough to meet Jack, a true Texas gentleman who still minds the store, so much the better. Not to be missed.

AMAZING!!!

By veronika f |

We visited today and did not expect much however it's was absolutely amazing experience. So much time, love and energy what was produced to make this beautiful museum... every single piece has some story behind and it makes the tour even more interesting. Wow! Thank you for building such place:)

Recently had an appointment ( 7/9/20) for a hitch recall on my Airstream. Service was very prompt and I was able to leave at noon and drive west to my next destination . Great place to buy and service your Airstream trailers, thanks.

Early morning visit

By Becky B |

We had fun roaming around the RVs on display at this museum. There were also many motorcycles to look at too. There were many restored RVS that were really cool. They arn't going to be any where else. Even a bus that was a movie prop from a Robin Williams movie. For the price of free admission it's a hidden gem

Home of "Happy Max"

By Larry B |

“Happy Max,” the modified 1948 Flxible Clipper bus belonging to the fictional Gornickes, has found a home at Jack Sisemore’s Traveland RV Museum in Amarillo, Texas, where it has been on display since the museum opened in 2012 and still has a big following.

However, I like the FMC bus on display next to Happy Max. it was one of the fastest RV's of its day.

You may have to park on the frontage road

Great Fun if you love RVs.

By cjagardner |

Hard to find as the address listed on Trip Advisor is their OLD location. Correct address is 14501 I -27 Amarillo, TX 79119. Their website has the correct address

Once we found it, what a fun experience! Alot of cool older RVs that have been restored. If you saw the movie RV, the original rv the Gornickes used was here!!

Amazing

By cdenoi |

As owners of a vintage RV & full time RV’ers we’re looking forward to seeing this museum and we weren’t disappointed, in fact, it was head and shoulders better than the RV Museum in Elkhart, Indiana. The uniqueness and quality was amazing; well displayed, clean and easily navigable. There is more to the museum than RV’s, lots of time period memorabilia, motorcycles and automotive history. We even met the namesake, Jack Sisemore and his son, Trent. NICE, down to earth people, thank you!!

If you love RVs, this is heaven

By Catherine M |

You will be either enthralled or bored out of your mind, depending on whether you are into RVs. Jack Sizemore and his son, Trent, are familiar figures in the Amarillo community (Trent was mayor for several years) and the family has put a lot of work into this. If you don't own an RV now but have thought about it, this is a good place to start!

Must do! Take the time to see this!

By Arkansastraveler74 |

This is a must do! I found it on Trip Advisor. It was so worth the trip! They have some real gems for you to see and go back in History! Very cool place! Plus it’s free!

Amazing Find!

By tw0mble |

This was such a amazing find! Lots of vintage RVs (trailer and motorhomes). All but one we could walk through and actually look and touch. (The one we couldn't was a circa 1930's trailer.) All volunteer staffed - and they were so polite and patient. The location is a little hard to find - but trust your map - it is in a small industrial type park, behind a high fence. And, it is free! They also have a large collection of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and other odd/ends vintage items.

Impressive!

By ricog |

Very cool! Displays are meticulous and informing. Nice collection of RVs and motorcycles as well as other coordinating memorabilia. Free. Takes about 1-1 1/2 hours depending on your level of interest. Part of the Jack Sisemore dealership so can look at some new RVs as well! Really well done. Would definitely recommend.

Fun stop!

By cohappyfeet |

This was a fun break on our trip. The museum is small. One could go through it in half an hour but we like to read all the signs. I especially liked that we could go inside the campers. The museum also has a collection of motorcycles and roadtripping memorabilia. It is part of an RV sales center. We wandered the sales floor without being hounded by salespeople, though the people we asked questions of were friendly and helpful.

A hidden free treasure

By pandam1 |

This is in back of an actual RV dealership. If you were or are a camper. This will bring back some memories. It's a walk on your own pace. Yes, it's stoller and wheelchair friendly. You can spend as much time add you would like. They have some very, very old Rv's which you are allowed to go into many of them. The are numerous motorcycles and different antique camping equipment. I found this museum to be very nosolgic and interesting. Best thing is, it's FREE!

Excellent museum of quality restored RV's and Harley-Davis motorcycles

By mkbrock7 |

RV's restored or retrieved from various parts of the country from years back! The owner services and sells RV's but has this gem of a museum behind the showroom. Plan to spend about an hour or two to see all the RV's and read all the history of the vehicles. Very clean, well staged exhibits in a large building. I would suggest you take time to read all the information on each exhibit and go into the RV's and step back in time!

Very Disapointing

By Bryan B |

I was expecting more out of this. It turned out to be nothing more than a RV showroom. New models. Minimal older models

Interesting and worth the trip

By mugsly |

This is a free museum and definitely worth the trip if you are in the area. It was interesting to see the campers and RVs have a bygone era. The museum is nicely set up and they allow you to go inside the campers and RVs. They also have a large display of motorcycles and a lot of other old school items as props around and in all of the campers and around the museum. It will bring back a lot of fond memories for the older generation

Unexpectedly interesting.

By CountrysideSat |

My wife and her sister wanted to go see this. To me it just didn't sound interesting...but I was wrong. It was a step back into time...it was actually quite interesting. I'm not going to give everything away, but there is an RV used in a movie (who had a very well known actor in it.) There are other vintage items there other than RVs, too. I was pleasantly surprised. (Hint: If you like motorcycles you'll enjoy it.)

Worth the trip!

By Ohio traveler |

This museum is very unique, not too big and free of charge. It was definitely worth the trip and the ~45 minutes that we spent there. The staff was friendly and very trusting as we were in the museum unattended. A trip down memory lane.

Great Stop

By Mtns Are Calling |

Such a great stop and the exhibit of Harley’s, cars, and RV’s is a nice selection. The owners history was very interesting.

Really interesting FREE museum.

By Masterchiun |

Great Museum if you are into Trailers and RV’s. It is an RV dealer and if you ask they will show you where the museum is in the back. It is a personal collection including a serial #1 motorhome. Lots of well-kept relics from the past. all with a story tell.

Great place to call in at while in Amarillo - and free-so even better!

By Bigruss57 |

WE called in here whilst staying overnight in Amarillo. Pleasantly surprised by what we found, lots of great nostalgic exhibits to see and explore. And great that this is FREE!! Staff at the RV centre in front we also great to chat with. We also explored the lovely new RV's on display. Definitely worth a visit.

Cute and nostalgic

By ChristineAndrews2013 |

This museum is inside an RV dealership. It's cute and has some nostalgic items for people who remember camping in the 60s, 70s and 80s. It's worth looking around if you have another reason to go to the dealership, but I wouldn't go just to see the museum. It's pretty small, but it is free.

Worth the stop!

By Rebekah |

I was tired of my boys playing video games all summer long. I woke them up one morning and brought them here for a FREE and Quick mom and son date. It was fantastic! Interesting!
I've never stayed in a RV or travel trailer, so I really enjoyed touring these "tiny houses".

Nice museum and a must see

By Nated2519 |

If you like old RV's then this is the place to go. Great stop in Amarillo, free museum. All staff is very friendly. 1930's-1970's RV's and campers.

Really fun museum

By Ft_Worth_Tx_Paul |

Great free museum, full of historic RVs, motorcycles and travel-related stuff. May items are one-of-a-kind and very rare. It is free and there are no guides, so take your time. Most of the RVs you can go into and see everything.

pleasantly surprised

By paramatex |

Small, but interesting and informative. If you have a RV it's so neat to see these old Rv's and displays and you cant beat free!

RV Museum

By brazosxxx |

In a word, outstanding!! I could have spent all day in this place. It’s a one of a kind, sitting behind the dealership not really advertised. But wow, what a place it is. They really went all out covering the history of RVs in addition to a few other things. One of my favorites was the actual RV used in the movie “RV”. We were camping at Pala Duro State Park and this came recommended by fellow campers. It turned out to be the highlight of our North Texas trip. We took all kinds of pictures but just can’t locate them! Google it.

Who knew this would be fun?

By Jo Ellen H |

We found out about this gem for the Texas Tourism Center in Amarillo. The rainy morning dashed our plans to hike Palo Duro Canyon so we searched for indoor activities. The kids (9 and 12) enjoyed looked at the "old" way people traveled. My husband enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Oh - and how great that it is budget friendly (free!)?

Small but fun

By Donnakh1 |

Super friendly folks. Loved the trip down memory lane. Great examples of RVing across the years. Wonderful restorations.

RV History

By D T |

What a delight this place was. Loved looking at all the history and vintage RVs. We spent about an hour and half looking at how little the basic designs have not changed. Thank you Jack for putting this together!

Unusual FREE attraction

By Dwayneg |

I found the historical RVs really interesting. All were well kept up, with excellent and informative signage. Brought back the days of my youth!

Very interesting vintage RVs and cycles!

By Gayle S |

I love anything vintage and I love RVs so this was perfect for me. Some first editions here and some one-of-a kind! Lots of interesting things, here!

Its a short walk through but a must see

By Wheretonext66 |

My husband and I had to pick up a part for our Airstream, while there we wanted to check out the RV museum....it was amazing. We saw some old Airstreams but more than that there were Class A, travel trailers, tents and motorcycles. Just an eclectic bunch of stuff. The RV from the movie RV was there....a very cool old bus and much more. So amazing were the older Rv's ... so much history and so much care. It was at least 30 minutes for us, but we went through each and every one. Loved every second!

A must see!

By Pawhuska |

We went there last July on our way to a campvention. Not only do they sell and service RV's, but there is an awesome museum there on RV's, motorcycles and other fun displays that help you take a walk back down memory lane. The collection is extensive and completely furnished as per the period. You can go inside most of them, which is really fun. It was free when we went there last summer. I assume it still is.

If you are a fan of the movie RV with Robin Williams, you will definitely want to stop there. A big surprise is waiting there for you! This is a must see when you are in Amarillo.

Very interesting

By 51beancounter |

If you are into RVing, this is a must. So interesting to see the history of RVing. Restored RV's dating back to the early 1900's, all labelled with history. So interesting. They also have a motorcycle collection for motorcycle enthusiasts.

Not just for RV lovers

By Lucky_Eddie |

I couldn’t care less about RVs. But this place was great! Okay, I’m still not gonna buy one, but it was interesting to see these historical vehicles, along with a lot of other nostalgic stuff.

Great Free Museum

By Susan H |

A little challenging to find but worth a visit! Lots of old restored RVs, race cars, Harley Bikes and more. Lots of information and you can walk into most of the RVs which make the experience even better. Limited hours currently Thursday-Saturday 10-3.

Free

By Kevin A |

Free. Campy. Funky. Fun. Surprising amount of motorcycles. Free. Did I mention that it is free? Well it is.

Fun Museum!

By Lisa B |

This is such a neat museum! It’s a step back into time and is very educational.

Jack Sisemore Traveland RV is a place which sales RV’s and does rentals. You park in front of the office and go inside. Someone will direct you to the museum which is in back in a separate building.

There is no charge for the visit. They share their restored RV’s, motorcycles, camping equipment, etc. with the public.

This is very educational! My children and I learned so much walking through this museum. I recommend it for older children and adults.

Great Experience

By Julia S |

We had a fantastic experience at this museum. The owner (Trent) was, extremely, accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed all of the RVs, cars, and motorcycles. Thanks to Trent and the RV Museum for a great time.

Walk down memory lane

By Jenny B |

Nice exhibit of camping vehicles of past. The warehouse was hot, and there are steps to go up in and out of trailers. Not an extensive display, but just enough to get that nostalgia.

Awesome beyond awesome

By Glenn Y |

This place is fantastic. Hidden in the back of the RV store but easy to find and once you're there some one from the very friendly stuff will guide you there. Every single piece of machinery is well preserve. Most of the Rvs open for visiting inside. A lot of motor bikes as well. Kids will have a lot of fun. Vintage camping stuff on display.

Excelent, rare old vehicles, RVs and more

By H M |

Hands down the best RV historical exhibit ever. Old camping equipment and documents and a 1937 Airstream (the first ones were made of bent plywood from plans published by the company.) Some examples of interior workmanship in some of the RVs. Quite apart from RVs, for Harley Davidson motorcycle lovers, they also have a big display of old, old Harleys , a tricked out Army one and even a HD bicycle.

A great collection and fre admission

By Dancingspirit9 |

The history of American RVing is all here, from pop-up campers of the thirties to the luxurious land yachts of recent times. There are many noteworthy vehicles well restored and preserved by the staff of this dealership. They are glad to share with absolutely no effort to pitch the hundreds of RV’s offered for sale on their lot.

This was truly an unexpected treat & meeting the owners was a special surprise.

By Edward B |

This is the BEST RV & Travel museum I've seen. You can even touch & enter many of the old units to see how they felt in the earlier RV days. It's surprising how much has stayed the same throughout the years except for the materials.
The old garage setup brought back many memories & you can't bypass the wonderful motorcycles & classic cars. Plan to spend at least 2-3 hours to truly appreciate this unexpected gem.
My wife & I visited in Oct. of 2019 & at the time it was FREE!!

Fantastic - RVs Harleys Tools - WOW! - Take The Time!!!!!

By TDury |

We were in Amarillo for two days and thought we would try this. We were somewhat leery since they didn't charge any admission to the museum but we were very wrong. Immediately on the right as you walk in is a Harley Davidson from WWII fully restored. Incredible! They have the amazing RVs, from pop ups to motorhomes. They have the very first Itasca! They share the history of each item in detail. They have about 20 or 30 motorcycles from Bultacos to Harleys to Indians. Again one word - WOW!

The adventure of travel and the vehicle used to explore!

By Sue L |

This museum brings the sense of American adventure to life! The beautiful restored travel trailers, motorcycles, boats and cars capture the fun of days gone by.

Best activity in Amarillo

By MeltonRandJ |

Amarillo is a pass through town. You pass through from New Mexico to The rest of the USA. Jk but there is not much to see until you go through the RV Museum. It’s fun and interesting and well kept. Even my older teens liked it. This is the one place you’ve got to stop in when your passing through Amarillo, Texas!

Worth seeing

By Len D |

Really enjoyed our visit to this step back in time RV museum. Really nice displays and free admission is a bonus.

Super cool museum

By rodneytherock |

If you’re an RV’er then this is the place you want to visit. They have everything from popups to motor homes from the 30’s to the 70’s. They even have the 1948 Flxible bus that was converted for the Robin Williams movie “RV”.
If you’re a motorcycle buff there are about 20 classic Harley’s interspersed throughout the building.
A great place to visit and its free.

Must see

By trn81 |

This is definitely a must-see Museum and the price is right because it's free. We went and visited this in one morning and are sure glad that we did. We love to camp and there was an excellent display of campers motorhomes and camping accessories and motorcycles throughout the years that the owner had restored and put on display. Thank you very much to Jack sisemore RV 4 this Museum.

Hot mess

By Mickie K |

It will only take about 30 mins to go through the museum. Don't go on a warm day. There is no air-conditioning. My granddaughters enjoyed it but the heat was a big problem for me. Good thing it was free.

Fun Museum Stop & Free Too

By JohnandDeb2 |

We had a blast here looking over the vintage RVs, A&W display, motorcycles, and re-creations. People were friendly too.

Must see if you like camping

By Fred W |

Nice restaurated RV's in original state from the early 50-60's. Also have a look at the new caravans. We as Europeans were amazed when we saw the interieur and the sizes of the new caravans.

If you are an RV fan, don't miss this museum!

By Texans112 |

Having recently acquired an Airstream Trailer, we were excited to stop at this free museum while on vacation to see the oldest Airstream. The museum was quite warm but we were able to still enjoy a quick look at the trailers spending about 40 minutes. Quite a few airstreams, vintage trailers excellently restored, an RV from the RV movie!!, and even some vintage motorcycles. So fun to view!

Is it still open??

By Sandi C |

Google showed that the museum was open, but when we drove to the location the dealership and museum seemed to be closed. We called the number and were sent to voicemail. There was a small sign in one of the windows signifying that this was indeed the museum, but no large sign as seen in the photos and all the blinds were drawn. We drove about 20 minutes to get there, so I just want to save other travelers the trouble if it is closed. Call before you go to be sure.

Museum closed

By Scarletthairedgal |

As of January 24, 2021 the museum is closed due to Covid-19. According to the owner/manager people weren't wearing mask and following covid safety protocols, therefore for safety reasons they closed the museum. However you can shop for a new 5th wheel.

Super cool museum

By nancytU1052JR |

We had such a great time checking out this free RV museum. The people that led us out were very friendly and the museum was awesome. We had our 2 teenage kids with us and we all loved it. So many cool RV’s and other things in there. Themed very well. So glad we visited.

Worth a stop!

By Kelly w |

If you’ve ever camped in a trailer, or had a motorcycle, you would totally enjoy this free museum. Loved going in the older trailers and remembering fun times as a kid. Very clean and well maintained exhibits. Thanks for the memories.

Must see when going thru Amarillo.

By Richard B |

What a great find, You can walk into almost every Rv. And there are many antiques to see, bycicles, motorcycles, cars and more. Staff was super nice and we were honored to meet the owner Mr. Sizemore and he told us about the museum and story's of origins of his antiques

A walk back in time.

By Ron O. |

If you like RVing, this is a great experience. The RV from the Robin Williams movie 'RV' is there. Well put together.

Such a cool place!

By Lisa R |

Finding the museum is a little confusing. It is located behind two other large warehouse type businesses. There is signage. Just know it’s not located on the road front. We were greeted by a very sweet and friendly hostess. She invited us to come and look around and showed us where the restrooms were located and offered us cold bottles of water. The museum was free and you could give a donation upon exiting. There were several very cool vintage campers. And you could go inside of them and check them out. There are also some vintage motorcycles and a few cars.
I was so happy to get a chance to tour this place. It was at the top of my list of things to do in Amarillo. It’s definitely worth your time.

Amazing and Interesting

By Jeff N |

What a Interesting and Amazing Collection. The stories behind many of these Traveling Treasures are very interesting and Awe Inspired. This is a must stop and see when in the area. You do not want to missed this one.

Wonderful little Free museum!

By Gary D |

If you are looking for a museum sign out front you want see it. It is behind the RV dealership. Well worth the stop!
I grew up travelling in a motorhome every summer. Stepping into the Winabego Brave and the Itasca was very nostalgic. Jack's collection is not only impressive for the quality but more so for the history behind the RVs and motorcycles!

Amazing Collection

By clintk18 |

This is a fabulous (and free!) museum. Although we don't even have an RV we enjoyed seeing the wonderful items that were so creatively displayed for viewing. It was a great trip through time and we are grateful to have been able to experience it. Thank you, Mr. Sizemore!

A Family Must-See in Amarillo

By Patsy H |

The Jack Sisemore Traveland RV Museum is on Interstate-27, just about 5 minutes south of I-40 in Amarillo, Texas. Admission is free, and Sisemore has assembled an astonishing collection of historic campers, RVs, and motorcycles. This museum is worth the stop, and will provide something of interest for everyone in the family.

Worth it!

By Clifford Kent Long |

If you were an RV year, you will love this place! Many restored antique campers and motorcycles as well. Definitely worth a visit! Very friendly staff at the dealership as well.

So cool

By brewer75 |

This was the best collection of vintage motorcycles, RVs, and just by gone era nostalgia. I loved the way old store windows let you peek inside 1950s shopping experience.

Interesting and enjoyable

By AdventurousRetirees |

This museum is a labor of love. Beautifully and meticulously restored RVs. Loved seeing the Flxiblebus from the movie "RV". A beautiful, extensive collection. RVs from the 30's thru 70's, with great attention to detail: period pots on stove, spice cans, game boards, camp chairs outside.... they must look much like they did when in use. The museum is indoors, you can wander around as slowly as you would like and it's free. Thank you Mr. Sisemore, this museum is one of a kind.

Great Camper Museum for all ages!

By Tarah L |

Our three kids ages 5, 6, and 12 loved this camper museum and mom loved that it was FREE! The museum is in back of the camper dealership so we had a little trouble finding it the first time and it was on a one way access road so make sure to follow the signs. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and the museum was practically empty so we had the exhibits to our ourselves. The kids especially loved the RV from the movie RV with Robin Williams! Lots of pictures and fun memories made here!

Closed in spite of saying OPEN on website.

By Marcia I |

The website said it was open today from 10-3. Closed!! Very disappointing.Traveling through on I-40. Our only chance to experience this.

Friendly and FREE!

By Glyn Carre |

Simply superb. Staff are friendly and the museum presents well. Terrific restorations and you can look inside the RV's. Just wonderful, and free.

Take a quick look in the 'new' showroom on the way out to compare old-to-new

"Getting Your Kicks on Route 66" Group Trip

By Krystal C |

Really great travel memorabilia! This is a great stop for groups as well as individual travelers. Be sure and check this place out if you are in the Amarillo area.

If you are interested it's worth the stop

By Sheila B |

The history of campers. I liked it. It is fun for a quick stop. These campers think of all the needs you might have had in the day. I can see why campers continue to be so strong.

Very imteresting place

By lyndamalia |

Good place if you are interested in the history of RV's and Caravans. If you are in Amarillo, and have an hour to spare this is a great free tour.

This is unique museum in that is us free plus has some rally great exhibits. There are interesting older travel trailers plus Motorhome. Some have been in movies like RV. Also some military and Harley model motorcycles. Just park in front on Jacks Tv and go inside and ask and they will show you they way to the museum.

If you have seen RV with Robin Williams, you have to go.

By GuidaSue |

This is such a neat place, it is in an RV Superstore building. Mr Sisemore has collected RV's from the earliest RV to Motorcycles. It is chocked full of every type of RV you can imagine from the earliest tent camper on an old truck to the RV in the Robin Williams movie. You can go in almost all of them and take photos and spend as much time as you want. Everyone is so nice and helpful and will answer all of your questions. They also have camping equipment, motorcycles, a few cars, an old soda fountain/diner set up and much more. Plus it is FREE....it was a fun time, you will enjoy it.

The best free museum

By Leslie A |

Visited this amazing little museum with a toddler and 7yr old. Some of the campers state "do not touch". So if you have children with happy hands like me it will be a little bit of a challenge. You are able to enter most of the campers. Lots of items bring back memories. I wish I could have spent longer. I will definitely visit again some day. Everyone was friendly and it's FREE!

You have to see this !!!!!

By Dan G |

We had a great time here and what a wonderful look at the history of RV's. No charge to get in and I would have paid to see this place

Worth the time

By Brenda H |

Where else can you find an antique RV museum? I've never heard of another. We really enjoyed seeing all these old guys! Displays were very attractive. There was an old garage and A&W on display too as a backdrop. The staff were very welcoming and very low pressure considering this is a new RV dealership too.

HOLY COW!!!! What a collection!!

By cynhikr |

If you like museum quality travel trailers, motorcycles and auto memorabilia you NEED to check out this awesome collection.

Truly incredible!

By greenjay1 |

Wow! This is a treasure of beautifully maintained and restored vehicles- motorcycles, cars, buses and RVs. And, they are wonderfully displayed among authentic period paraphernalia. The bus from Robin Williams's movie is here. It is free. Parking is available in front of the RV store. And, the rv store is pretty good too. A really good stop.

Model "T" RV???

By Greg B |

Saturday we went to the Sizemore RV museum: what a kick! Frank Sisemore was a guy who worked at an RV place for a few years, then started his own. He had some really unusual Rv’s, motorcycles, buses (including the red & white bus featured in the movie “RV”), the first Itasca RV ever made, several quirky Airstreams, and a Model T Ford which had been factory-converted. Really enjoyed this museum.

Museum is incredible

By CDanielTX |

The museum is so cool. The layout is fantastic and the collection is extensive. It's a great stop while in Amarillo.

Traveling Route 66

By Ronald L |

Wonderful place to visit. Vintage Motorhomes, travel trailers, motorcycles and much more on display. You will not be disappointed. The building is in a trailer motor home dealership.

Dreaming of RV Life

By Donald B |

Someday I'll find the prefect RV that fits my budget. My initial impression of this place was they were a little elitist. They have a nice selection and the sales staff aren't pushy. I do think their units are overpriced.

Flash from the past

By bsquare22 |

Passing through in RV we stopped to check this out. So glad we did😎. Amazed at this collection of vintage items. Owners were happy to show us around. Don't miss this if you are interested in rvs, motorcycles and history

Don't miss this amazing display and it's free

By Vicky H |

We love old RV's, old vehicles and motorcycles. This place has done a first class job of displaying some of the vintage vehicles you've only read about. The place is at the rear of Sisemore RV store in an area designated as "Traveland". I just can't say enough about how nicely displayed and with much care and preservation of vehicles from days gone by. AND it's free.

Very Interesting Museum

By Gina T |

This place was definitely worth the stop. If you are at all interested in old school RV's or motorcycles, this was a great collection. It was neat that you are able to go inside most of them. The grandkids loved it as well - to see things from the "old days".

Pleasantly surprised

By George H |

We decided to check out the RV Museum while in Amarillo. Kind of hard to find as it is behind the dealership sort of off a street that looks like an access road. We had to go around the block before we found it. You have to walk through the dealership to get to it but employees will gladly point you in the right direction. Once there though it is pretty interesting and FREE. Great vintage RVs-most you can walk through- and motorcycles you can check out with accompanying stories. Museum is very well maintained and not trashy. They've put a lot of work into it. I'd recommend if you are an RV enthusiast.

A trip back in time

By NCL925 |

Very interesting to see the vintage RVs. And it is a free stop! Doesn't take long to go through but I recommend.

Fun little side trip

By Glenda P |

Lots of motorcycles, and vintage motorhomes, and trailers that, for the most part, you can go in and look around. Also, the bus from the Robin Williams movie, "RV". And admission is free. Great place to stop by.

Surprised at how much I enjoyed

By Kingskid2015 |

This experience in Amarillo is one I highly recommend. Don’t let the thought of just some old RV’s...Has such neat collectibles, including a Harley Davidson from WWII - so much more than just RVs. But - the RVs are cool and staged with vintage finds. And it is FREE!

Sisemore RV Museum, Amarillo Texas. They’ve moved...re-opening June 2021

By Nanci L |

The RV Museum is in the process of moving to a new location, re-opening in June 2021. We were able to get a sneak peak of the new space! The collection is amazing, with old, (dating as far back as the 1920s and 30s,) and famous motorhomes, 1st and limited editions, rare and collectible tow behind trailers. All are either in pristine condition or have been restored to vintage condition by a loving team of restorers. All have their histories to read as you enter them. You can tour the 1948 Flxible Clipper bus “Happy Max” used in the 2006 Robin Williams movie “RV”. The museum includes many camping items dating back to the 1930s and 40s. There are even some vintage pop-ups AND an extensive Harley-Davidson collection. Look for the re-opening soon! Well worth a visit! Thanks to Trent Sisemore for giving us the sneak peak.

5 stars is not enough. I give it 10!!!
Thank you Jack.

One of the Unexpected Highlights of Our Trip

By Becky M |

My daughter just happened across this RV museum on the internet and we stopped by on a whim. Boy, were we glad we did! It was FANTASTIC--not only seeing the RVs through time, but seeing all the little details that were added to make the exhibits come to life. And it was free! We also got to meet Jack, and he was delightful--so pleased to share his collection with us. This was a great little find.

Not into RV's but great museum

By Joelle H |

Saw this was the top rated thing to do in Amarillo so I gave it a shot. Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised! They have collected some really cool pieces, some have been restored and some haven't. Interesting to see the old vs. the RV's nowadays. People who work there are very nice (even offered me some of their potluck lunch!). Definitely recommend!

Oh My- such history

By Mholloway08 |

This place was the bomb diggity for motorcycle enthusiasts and RVers alike. Wish there were more Winnebagos since there were only a few on display at the factory in Forest City, (and owning a 2016 Brave) - otherwise I learned a lot. I will now read a few books I missed with Charles Kuralt and watch a movie with Lucille Ball I did not know existed. The patronage to our Veterans was especially fantastic and having the store nearby meant a one stop shop to pick up needed supplies not available at Camping World. Thanks Sisemores for putting the money, the time, and emphasis on the RV life past to present.

Quirky, Cool Museum

By Becky Clark |

My family enjoys stopping at this museum when in the Amarillo area. As a child, we camped often in pop-up campers, and the museum is a wonderful, nostalgic walk down memory lane. It is also fun to see the RV from the Robin Williams movie! Visitors are allowed to step into most of the campers and see memorabilia from the corresponding time periods.

Beyond nostalgia..... If you camped

By Thomas M |

I'm not sure how we heard about this place, but it was close to where we stayed, and we decided to check it out before heading East. The museum is located in an RV dealership. The sign on the door read; “You can walk in to a museum and walk out with an RV.” The museum is awesome, it is free, and well worth the time. Although predominantly about RV-ing and camping there was certainly plenty of memorabilia to check out as well. If you enjoy camping, or need to have your RV checked out recommend spending some time at Sisemore's

Rainy Day Stop

By Blake P |

Nothing fancy but kinda of interesting something to do to get out of the rain if you're bored it'll feel Time

Number One Attraction for a Reason-Its Really Good

By OnTheRoadAgain1056 |

This was much better than expected. Many RVs, campers, cycles and more. There was an old A&W Restaurant display. A fishing display with old baits. Many RVs and Campers. I saw the old Starcraft Camper type that we used to have and camp in from the 60's. Some were very old and and most are open to walk in. You'll need at least 30-45 minutes to get through this museum and its free. Great stop to make.

Wonderful Collect

By dorothy c |

Great host very friendly had a great time speaking with Larry. The collect was fun to explore, motorhomes and trailers have come along way.
Great collect of motorcycles, poster & miniatures.
Very clean, free water, free entrance also very clean restrooms.
Thank you for sharing.

Really cool stuff

By mike h |

Very cool collection of travel trailers, motorhomes, bikes and memorabilia in Amarillo. Spent about an hour taking it all in. Really liked the '73 RV as it reminded me of trips to summer camp in Wisconsin as a kid. Collection is part of an active RV dealership.
Walk through front door and helpful staff will point you in the right direction to the building. Well worth a stop!

What a wonderful collection!

By RebeccaMDallas |

This is a free exhibit of a man/family who fell in love with RVs and enjoyed all aspects of travelling the country in that manner. It is in the back part of an RV dealership (don't let that detour you!) and the very friendly folks there will show you the way. You can walk into most (if not all) of the RVs - please be respectful of their loving restorations. We spent a good hour reading the posted signs and looking at the history provided. I took a bunch of pictures of the 1973 Winnebago Brave for my grandmother who took many trips with her late husband in a similar model. Just a lovely trip back in time. Thank you!

Free and Fun

By DanOCan |

The museum is in a building in behind the retail operation, but you don't need to pay any admission or buy anything to see it. A great collection of vintage RVs, camping gear, and other memorabilia from the golden age of American road trips. If you are into RVs, seeing things like Itasca serial number 1 or the world's oldest Airstream make it even more special, but anyone can enjoy this place.

Fabulous !!

By Nicky L |

What a little gem this place is !! Out back of the RV showroom, the lovely ladies on reception take you through, it is free to see which I find amazing and they have some amazingly old RV's and other travel memorabilia all with an info board and you can go in most of them too. We absolutely loved our hour and a half here, please don't miss it

Parts

By Shaun P |

I wouldnt have given this high of a rating except they do have a fair selection and the museum was worth the tour. Very nice. However, the parts guy acts if your in to get parts for something over a couple years old that the whole coach is obsolete, hes pompous acting, and was just rude! Its a short drive to the one south of town....

Random stop, had a great time!

By Marin C |

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but this place was great! Super interesting and you can even go inside most of the RVs-they’re beautifully restored and it’s fascinating to see the older ones and how they’ve evolved over the years!

Free and very interesting. Love that they let you into the historic RV's!

By VH20 |

Very interesting museum! Love that they let you into the old RV's and touch/interact with a lot of the things inside them. Museum was free and worth an hour or so. You can tell that the family is really passionate about this collection.

Worth the stop!

By Marie B |

If you have ever camped in a RV, or if you just enjoy, "taking a walk", down history lane, this is worth a stop! I was amazed at the collection and authenticity of the items. Parents, this is a great way to show your kids how technology has progressed. Not only RVs on site, there are also restored motorcycles and cars. Only negative is that the bldg is not air-conditioned, so you can get hot.

So very cool!

By GimmeAdventures |

I was in town for business and decided to check this place out. It was only about 10 minutes from the hotel I was staying at in downtown. It’s a really really nice collection of vintage RVs, travel trailers motorcycles and more. It’s not a huge place but everything they have is interesting and really cool. I think I actually read all the informational facts they had posted near each display...which is something I seldom do. I loved the airstreams and the oh so groovy VW van ☮️. Some of the vintage decor in the trailers looked way too familiar. 😂.
As I was leaving I couldn’t resist making a a detour to check out some new airstreams in the showroom.

A Must for RV Enthusiasts

By Colin Archibald |

A wonderful place to reminisce. The RV's and trailers her represent a slice of history that is often forgotten. Located in the back of Jack Sisemore's Traveland RV Dealership, it is filled with memoribilia. They even have the Red Flexible Bus driven by the Gornicke's on the Movie "RV" starring Robin Williams.

Don't Miss This Great Place!!!

By Ray |

A hidden gem, literally!! A little tough to find off an access road with little signage, but WELL worth the hunt. Incredible collection of RVs, most in outstanding condition for their age. The best part is that you are encouraged to go in and look around inside them. They are not just shells either. the staff's attention to detail is fantastic. Make sure you look at everything, inside and out. Tons of artifacts arranged around the RVs give a window to the past. Free admission!!!

Fond Memories

By Powerhalf |

If you grew up camping like I did, you will want to stop here and see the displays. There was a lot more to it than I expected. The campers are neat and I really enjoyed all the extra stuff around them. Brought back many good memories.

Interesting. Even if you don’t do RV

By Jwhick |

When you have extra time traveling thru Amarillo, this should be on your list of things to do.
It’s especially interesting seeing the history of RV’s and camping. And also a great display of motor cycles.
Be prepared to spend more time than you might have expected. It’s fairly extensive and fun to read some history and imagine traveling around the country in one of the many on display.
I even saw one exactly like we used to take our kids to the Rocky Mtns 55 years ago.

RV Couple Traveling out west

By Maggie D |

I hate to give 4 stars & not 5 but I have to take one off for lack of parking. We are traveling in a 40 ft motorhome & had no where to park! Luckily, there was a big empty parking lot where we could park around the corner & we walked through car lots. The RV Museum was totally worth the stop! Mr. Sizemore & his restoration team did an outstanding job representing the years in history of RVing. There are so many amazing things to see there, such as the oldest airstream trailer in the world & the motorhome from the movie "RV" with Robin Williams. There is also a mix of Harley motorcycles for motorcycle fans. It is easy to find with big signs. It looks like a place to buy RVs with nice new RVs everywhere & the museum is out back. You might just want to pick out a new one while you are there! Lol

What a wonderful museum for camping enthusiasts

By H P |

What a surprise! This museum is attached to a camper sales facility and all indoors. They do not charge a fee. Parking is tight but it is primarily a business. The museum has a wonderful variety of original and refurbished campers on display. Some are rare and others are great examples of popular campers. You can go into almost all of the campers to see details. The information about each display is well-done. They also have a nice display of motorcycles and camping equipment. I am so glad we took the time to stop here! And, the staff in the camper store were helpful answering questions about our camper.

A Very Unique Collection

By Milo M |

Man, Jack Sisemore deserves a lot of credit for what he has built. Also, many thanks to him for allowing folks to view it at no charge. The exhibits are really well done - really quality. If you have interest in RV's or even if you don't, you will enjoy the visit.

Hidden Gem in Amarillo!!

By Melody S |

We were looking for a fun attraction to visit. It was a little tricky to find, but we found it. The museum is free, and the hostess was so friendly and informative. We loved that we could go inside most of the RVs, and they were all very well kept. We spent about an hour touring, and it was worth every minute. They do accept donations at the entrance/exit, and we were glad to contribute. Don’t miss the opportunity to check out this unique space!

Drive Down Memory Lane

By travelinggal1313 |

The Traveland RV Museum is fascinating. If you've every owned or traveled in an RV, you'll get a kick out of this museum. There are examples of some of the very first RVs and travel trailers. The restoration work is really excellent. Interspersed with the RVs are other interesting artifacts: an old soda fountain and a gas station among them. There is absolutely NO sales pressure, so there is no worry about stopping in.

Mr.

By jerrbear2018 |

Really great place to visit and learn about America's fascination with travel.beautiful vintage motorcycles as well.

Nice Friendly Place

By Kenonian |

Stopped in to buy a marker light lens for the trailer. We received excellent service in finding the correct lens. We then asked about the museum, we’re given a brief description of what they had, and then were shown the way to it. It wasn’t huge, but there was a lot of neat stuff. It’s definitely worth a stop. Some nicely restored Harley’s and old trailers. As some reviews have pointed out, parking is a problem. Not sure where you would park if you were towing.

Can’t beat the price!

By Emkaye8 |

We decided to stop by and see what this was about on our road trip. Glad we did they have some very rare pieces and lots of motorbikes to walk through. It was fun to see how things have evolved and changed. People were also very friendly and welcoming. Good place to stop, stretch your legs and walk around.

RV Museum

By Woody H |

What a pleasant surprise....it was a clean and very friendly place. The trailers, motorhomes, and vintage motorcycles was very cool to see. We had the museum to ourselves and the staff just let as walk through on our own. If you are an RVer this is a must see...

Rv's ,motorcycles, cars, storefronts, etc.🙃 can spend 30 mins to 2 hrs if you read &take in all of it! Best part it's FREE...just careful you might buy a new RV! VERY nice &friendly folks...they don't push sales @all on you!! If your in an Rv (we were in our 5th wheel)just park on service road in front of bldg. Saw kiddos there enjoying exhibits as well!

Lucky to see all those interesting travel homes.

By Ari |

It was very nice. Great selection of old and historical motor homes and trailers. We were lucky we passed the area when they are open.

Vintage Motorcycles and RVs step back in time

By Tarra G |

When we first walked in we thought the museum was a trap to get you to the RV dealership but we were guided to another building and was quite surprised. We spent a lot of time looking at soooooo many old Harley Davidson's and a few others along with Vintage campers, camping equipment, cameras and drive-in and had station mock up. They had noted history on some of the items. We had a great time and recommend this as a stop to step back in time!

loved this!

By JRL4811 |

I was expecting this to be completely hokey and was apologizing to my significant other on the way in. What a delightful surprise. We both loved this free museum. Great collection and wonderfully decorated with time frame appropriate touches. Like stepping back in time to revisit our youth, and afterwards I wanted to buy a new RV and hit the open road!

Fun Times Down Memory Lane

By BrendaB691 |

Great little museum…and it’s Free! There are some interesting original and older RV’s in there. In fact, there are a few “oldies” that seem to be making a comeback…the Teardrops and back lift up kitchens. Most are all original or restored to original condition. They even have the motorhome used in the movie “RV.” For car and motorcycle buffs, there are some of these to see. Lots of memorabilia scattered throughout. Fun way to spend and extra hour or two!

Great place!

By Patryk G |

Amazing jumping into the past! Place which helps us feel The router 66 climate! Worth to see it! Very highly recommend!

A MUST STOP! IT IS FREE!!!

By Donald H |

This place is fantastic and a must stop! They will welcome you with open arms!! It is really interesting to see all of the old RV's! We don't own an RV but that doesn't matter! This is a must stop!!!

Vintage RV Time capsule

By GmaT |

This is an absolute Must-See Museum for anyone who is a 'Gear Head" like Trent Sizemore. All things with motors or for travel are featured here.
The display of vintage RV's is astounding! The oldest Airstream, and classic Harley Davidson motorcycles (1940's), BMX racing posters, along with assorted sports cars, and other vehicles. There are also vintage accessories such as, board games, kitchen gadgets, camp stoves, bicycles, picnic baskets, shaving kits, first-aid essentials, maps, toys, ice chests, and so much more.

Newly relocated to a spacious warehouse at 14501 Interstate 27 in Amarillo, TX Jack Sisemore's son Trent, has made these RV's hands-on, touchable, walk inside and take plenty of photos accessible to all.

Please note: The museum is closed from Mid-December to March (spring break),

Just could not pass up

By lindawZ2912YL |

No real parking, must park on frontage road. Watch for it, easy to miss. Little bit of a walk on uneven ground. Where good walking shoes, can be muddy. There is a corn field there. But it is certainly like nothing we have ever seen. Quirky to say the least. Usually spray paint there to add your own touch. Have to say it would be nice when someone empties a can that they would take it with them. Glad we stopped, don'the have to again.

Museum is open on Wednesday- Saturday

By Darlene D |

We are RVers and really enjoyed seeing all the old memorabilia. Everything showed it was closed but it is open on Wednesday- Saturday. Cindy was fantastic to visit with at the museum.

Great collection

By patricia m |

The museum is actually part of an RV dealership but it is fine to just want to see the museum. They are happy to have you and it is free. Grest collection of vintage campers and motorcycles. Definitely worth a visit.

Amarillo Gem

By just1backpack |

What an amazing gem this is. Everyone we talked to was extra Texas friendly. Lots of pride here. This museum is absolutely fantastic and it is free! Located indoors right behind the Traveland Center. Great restored campers, motorcycles and a few cars. I especially loved the airstreams as I was a Wally Byam Caravan kid. My family would go to the caravan meetups. You had to know your Wallt Byam Caravan number or you would never find your trailer. Ours was 17787 and is still engraved in my brain some 50 years later. What a labor of love this place is. It made me want to buy a motor-home right there on the spot but I decided to stick with my campervan. Don't miss the 1935 Airstream that was made with the $6 blueprint airstream was selling at the time. They weren't making trailers yet! Thank you. The Jack Sisemore team should be very very proud of this museum.

Must see!

By Lynn G |

Once you get the museum you will see why it is ranked so high in the Amarillo area!
My wife thought it was a tourist trap when we drove up to the front of an RV Dealership.
She was quickly transformed into an "Look at this!" visitor as was I.
Don't let the cost (It's FREE!) keep you from enjoying this gem.

Rv’s difficult older travel trailers

By Joel M |

It is small but very interesting to see the different types of travel trailers. Many older ones with great character.

RV History!

By Cassidy C. |

An interesting step back into RV history! RVs from the last 100 years, restored to mint condition. They even smell authentic! ;)
We enjoyed spending about an hour checking out all the details in their showroom. Indoor and free!

Lots of cool RVs

By readj50 |

We really enjoyed visiting with the owner, Jack. Lots of old RVs and antiques. You can look around on your own and look inside them. Best part it is free admission.

Fun stop....lots of history

By Crossrn |

This was a real treat. My husband wasn’t too excited about going until we got there, then it was the highlight of his trip. Lots of nostalgia. Oldest airstream, the bus from the movie RV and tons of old motorcycles. The museum also comes with the history of the man who started it all, Jack and how his company grew. The kids loved looking at all the old things.

A little hard to find but worth the extra effort

By Pwdawson |

If you have an RV or ride a motorcycle, you will enjoy this exhibit. Early RV's from the Modell T era on up to the present. Many campers can be entered & given a closer look. Motorcycles on display brought back memories both good and not so good. Very interesting & varied collection.

Don't think twice about stopping

By Neverstoptravelling |

If you enjoy history, RVs and road travelling, this is a must.
We were so impressed with what is on show, old and new. The customer service was old fashioned too ... the way every business should operate.

If you like RVing, you will really enjoy this

By Richard Hildebrand |

What a great collection of RVs, camping equipment, and Harley Davidson motorcycles and it is all free to see. Take an hour and wonder through the trailers and other exhibits.

RV Museum is amazing & free!

By CherylABentley |

Enjoyed walking through the a/c building, looking at old motorcycles, travel trailers and RVs from the past! Everything is displayed with period pieces; like walking back in time! Well worth the stop!

Great customer service as soon as you walk in one on one with rvs from different eras you can actually walk in look is as you would be in that time frame

A walk back in camping history

By Joshua S |

If you've ever been in a camper or RV in any part of your life, going back to the early 1930s, you'll feel like you walked back in time coming to this museum. I toured a camper just like the one my grandparents bought in the late 1960s a pop-up my parents purchased in the early 1970s and an RV they got in the late 1970s. The most amazing thing is the attention to detail. The trailers are decked out in vintage items, like magazines, pots and pans, games and books native to the time of the trailer. Sure, it's a little weird when nobody asks for admission and you're guided to a warehouse in the back of an RV dealership, but this is a can't miss. People like Jack who share their collections with people are wonderful and I wish there were more museums like this out there.

Camping History Museum!

By Sandra K |

Traveland RV Museum lets you look inside all kinds of RV's. I grew up with a family who liked to camp so it was fun to see the airstreams, and pop up trailers. It is an excellent collection expanding several decades of innovation. It's also free so well worth your visit if you come to Amarillo.

Must see in Amarillo

I heard the RV museum was one of the best things to do in Amarillo, and it did not disappoint. The RVs are beautifully displayed and the collection of RVs and motorbikes is amazing. Even if you don't know anything about RVs, this museum is worth it to visit. The entrance is free and they allowed me to bring my dog in.

Fun way to spend an hour

By Kay M |

The museum is located within the RV dealership, and the young woman who welcomed us as we walked through the front door was so nice and helpful. You follow the double red lines out to the museum and are immediately drawn into the world of old RVs. There are many different kinds from several different eras. The first one we went into had a photo inside that had been signed by 17 past Presidents of the U.S. it was a wonderful. Many of them had been refurbished; others were just in pristine condition. There is so much to see and is simply a fun trip down memory lane. Loved it!

A WOW EXPERIENCE

If you have an interest in RVs, this is the place for you! Was not expecting what we saw. You will be amazed at their unique collection ones as well as the associated camping gear. They also have motorcycles, cars and even a boat. A must see if you've spent time camping and best of all it's FREE!

GREAT COLLECTION

By missmartha |

This is a wonderful history of RV’s throughout America travel. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the variety in this collection. The best part: it’s free! Recommend it to everyone!

Best Little Museum

By Patti B |

This is the coolest little museum of RV's and motorcycles etc. Times that have gone by. We will go back.

Not RV guy but this is well done

By John R |

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this museum, well done with good sighs and restored RV's. Some Harley's for you H guys. Ask the person at the front desk of the dealership how to get to the museum, easy walks from new RV showroom

A must see

By ObedF |

Free admission. Whether young or old, you will enjoy this nostalgic trip to the past with RVs. Motorcycles, and various memorabilia. The oldest airstream in existence is housed there. Kudos to the owner for preserving the past. Very friendly staff.

Great Little RV Museum

By FTTSV |

My children loved seeing how the RV’s looked 40 years ago. It makes them appreciate the RV and the amenities that we do have in our camper. Great little RV Museum.

Unexpected vacation time in Amarillo

By Vlangov |

We had not expected to stay in Amarillo as we were just driving thru. Had a little motor home hick up so we had time to explore. This was a great stop. Take a trip back in time and visit this great nostalgic collection of cars, bikes and motor homes/old campers. We even had an opportunity to visit with owner, Jack. Do not miss this if you’re coming thru Amarillo. It will not disappoint.

Walk back in time

By Landa M |

As an RVer it should be on your bucket list. Even if you aren’t there are motorcycles, a boat, a gas station and a soda fountain. What a great museum. Some of the campers have been beautifully restored others are just like new. They have surrendered these vintage beauties with period pieces like games and food products. Who knew marshmallows came in cans! They even let you enter all the campers but one, just don’t touch!

Hidden jewel

By LynnSzczepanik |

Great little free museum with campers from the 1930’s and newer. It also had a Chris craft wooden boat and several motorcycles. This takes about 40 minutes to see all on the way to Amarillo.. enjoyed seeing all the vintage campers

Be careful not to impulse buy an RV after visiting

By Diane B |

So glad we stopped here. If you are a fan of mid century nostalgia you will love this place. All of the rvs are dressed with games, products, etc... from the decade they were produced. A little tricky to find but definitely worth it.

Awesome experience end it has something for everyone.

By Ott C |

First of all, it has moved to 14501 I-27 Amarillo Tx. 79119. We came to Jack Sizemore Traveland RV museum to see Happy Max, the bus in the movie Rv starring Robbin Williams. To our surprise they have included the Amarillo Area Motosports Hall of Fame and Museum, with some awesome race cars. The old RV’s and the antique items are really cool to look at, plus some good looking motorcycles. This is a true hidden gem and is a must see when your traveling through Amarillo Texas.

Closed for Covid

By Randi G |

I was really upset when we drove with the kids to see the museum only to be told its closed due to Covid. The website says they are open. The showroom floor, RV store/lot, and Camping store are all open. I assume because they are money makers and the museum is not. Either way we were so disappointed. It was the one thing we were really looking forward to seeing the most during our trip. The website should indicate that while everything else is open, the museum is closed.

Great stop on Rt 66 trip!

By Shelly |

Wonderful museum filled with vintage RV’s you could go inside of! Brought back memories of camping with my grandpa in his low tow camper! Loved how everything was laid out and displayed. Great stop on our Rt 66 trip in September 2020!

Rv must

By Nathan J |

Cool freebee in Amarillo. Lots of old rigs and Harleys as well as bicycles. Loved the Gorneky camper from the movie RV.

What a fantastic find along I-40

By Ken S |

First of all, Jack and Deborah are about the friendliest couple you could possibly find in Texas and that's saying a whole lot because there's no state as friendly as Big Tex. The museum should be on everyone's to do list when travelling through Amarillo. Its Trip-advisor's number 1 attraction for good reasons. The RV's -motorcycles - bicycles and cars are really pieces of art. We enjoyed ourselves from beginning to end and we're still astounded that the admission is free. Ken & Michelle from California.

Great Visit!

By hunterdandb |

A must see if you love RVing. We loved being able to go into some of the first RVs. There are also numerous Harleys. A great big THANK YOU to Jack and Trent for preserving and restoring these relics.

Note: Parking is limited. Leave your RV at the campsite.

Awesome!!

By VegasBaby1964 |

As a huge fan of RVs and the Robin Williams film "RV", I was really looking forward to visiting the museum.... and it was way better than I expected!! I could have stayed there all day. Some great older RVs which you are left open for you to wander around. I loved the ones from the 70s. It's free but we left a donation. The highlight was being able to climb on board 'Happy Max'. (Thanks for a great film, Robin.) My husband loved the museum too. It was one of the best places we visited on our USA Road Trip.

Very nice experience.

By Nevadamax |

This RV museum is just a short distance off the beaten path but well worth the time to check it out if Recreational Vehicles are of an interest to you. Even if you are not interested in RV's this museum will an amazing experience. These are well preserved or well refurbished RV's of all kinds and displayed very nice. The museum is free and you will be welcomed by friendly staff that are willing to answer your questions.

Worth stoppong

This is a private museum inside of a large RV dealership. It is free. We loved it! Got to see the actual Gornicke bus from the movie RV. Glad we stopped.

Dont go if pulling a travel trailer

By Amylia B |

We had planned on visiting this museum while on our family vacation. We were pulling our 37' travel trailer, there was no way to pull in or park with our truck and trailer. Just a heads up to those wanting to visit that are pulling a trailer.

Incredible RV History

By belinda1969 |

Great little stop in Amarillo! We spent at least 2 hours in the museum, it is a really neat place with lots of cool old RV's dating back to the 1900's. If you are an RV lover this is a must see attraction if ever in the area!

Loved it

By Cheri O |

A really neat place to visit, if you love retro rvs . It's like stepping back in time 😊And because it won't let me submit this review without more wds I'm just adding this....😜(c'mon...a good review doesn't take a huge paragraph!)

Do not miss

By Rob F |

Do not miss this small but wonderful slice of Americana. If you’re a camper from the 60s or 70s you’ll love the attention to detail in every RV ( you can actually walk through) Small but worth a look. Parking is difficult for motorhomes etc

Highly Recommended

By Jill B |

The care in renovating and preserving the vehicles in the museum was impressive. We so enjoyed seeing a bit of history. The is a "must see" if you are in the area.

If you need camper parts this is the place

By Mark K |

Jack Sizemore Traveland is Amarillos RV spot. The folks are friendly and very knowledgeable about all sorts of RVs. The Museum is great , you just need to stop here.

Absolutely Brilliant

By clogmar |

An amazing collection of trailers, motor homes and even some motorbikes. It is possible to explore inside most of the exhibits and we found it all fascinating. Definitely worth a visit.

A Wonderful Museum!

By DFWTravelerDallas_TX |

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting this museum. Even my 7 year old daughter enjoyed it immensely. I would call this a “must visit” if you are in the area. The RV’s are in great condition for their age and I loved the way they sprinkled in little artifacts from the era.

Please note at the time I am writing this the address and phone number are incorrect on the TripAdvisor page but if you click on the link to the museum’s website, the info is accurate.

Fun, quick stop

By Dallas Traveler |

We visited on a Friday afternoon when staying over in Amarillo for the night. I thought it would be a little awkward to go into the dealership when we weren't in the market for any RV products just to see their museum, but have no worries about that. Everyone there just could not have been nicer or more welcoming. The museum is in a building behind the dealership. It is not huge and does not take long to tour, but it is worth a stop if you are in the area. We spent about 45 minutes there. Lots of interesting, old RVs that you can go into and look around. They have done a very nice job of all their displays and they provide great historical information about everything there. The website says they close at 5, but there was a sign posted out front that says summer hours are until 6 pm.

Great for RV & Motorcycle Enthusiasts

By OklahomaMtnLady |

Thanks to the reviews on Tripadvisor, we stopped in to see the Traveland Museum. Fantastic!! I like the fact that we could go inside many of the older camping trailers. The men in our group loved the many motorcycles to be seen. I loved the bus RV used in the Robin Williams movie, RV. In fact, we watched it the following night after going to the museum. The nostalgic museum was arranged very well. You enter the RV Business Store in front of the museum and a very nice person takes you to the museum located in a building out back. The museum is free and that made it even better!

RV Museum

Wow what a collection
Sure took me back in time seeing all the RV’s
Bonus was Harley Davidson Motorcycles
2 building worth of nostalgic history!
We took our time and loved the Museum.

Must see!

By Amy B |

I was so impressed! Price is right (FREE!) and it’s set up very nicely with great explanations. Don’t let your original impression when you pull up fool you. No one harasses you to buy an RV; they are thrilled you came to see the museum. And I’m glad we found the place!
