We took the round trip fast boat to Nantucket and back from Hyannis. Trip is one hour each way. Boat is fine. It was a few days after Labor Day and going out in the morning the boat was 40-50% full. Masks required, but social distancing was tough. Food and drink service was closed. Return at 12:30 pm was very empty. I am sure later departures would have been fuller.

A stylish, quick way to get to Nantucket, in style! Park your car at the pier in Hyannis for $20 for the full day; board the ferry just steps from your car; quick one hour port to port. Monday thru Thursday deal: $50 round-trip for adults; $25 round-trip for children 12 and under. Nantucket is worth seeing, even if just for the day! Highly recommend a historical walking tour from The Whaling Museum which is just a five minute walk from the pier in Nantucket.

Doing a week of exploring! Looking for the cobble stones on Main Street! The whale hedges in Sconset! The old times who grew up there! Even those that like to talk.

If you're going to Nantucket you will have to take one of the ferries. Tickets are not cheap $45 round trip, but it is about a 30 mile one way trip. The ferry was relatively comfortable and took about an hour. Note - DON'T BE LATE. The ferry left exactly on the minute it was supposed to on the way to Nantucket, and left about a minute earlier than scheduled on the way back. BTW this isn't so much accessible via public transportation. It IS public transportation.

Although this was the fast ferry to Nantucket we found it a nice relaxing trip with our kids. Great service and enjoyable ride.

My husband & I took the fast speed ferry to Nantucket. It was only an hour and very pleasant. I didn’t get seasick at all, and didn’t even realize we were moving when the trip first started. We got some great pictures of the sunset on the way back. You can go out on the deck or stay inside - even charge your phone while seated and the free WiFi is quite fast. I highly recommend going! We had a great time - stress free and fun.

Had to change my trip 2x due to weather. Staff was very friendly in helping me changing it.
Did the fast right (1 hr to Nantucket) and it does get crowded but I had no problems at all.

We took a day trip to Nantucket and decided to take the standard ferry out and the fast ferry back. The nice thing is that the Steamship Authority offers both options which allow good flexibility. The process is very efficient and you can use the mobile app to find out which parking lot is open. They offer shuttle service from the parking lots to the ships. Overall service during the ride over and back were very good. During the ride back on the fast ferry we wound up leaving our camera on board and didn't realize until the next morning when we were packing up to leave. I called up the ticket agent and they gave me the contact info for the lost and found since they send everything to a central area in Woods Hole. We called and left the guy in charge a message. We decided to stop at the Hyannis area and we tried to see if it was there but it was busy and they took our name down to contact us. The guy from lost and found called me back and said that the crew had found camera and had it in the safe. After the ship had left and things quieted down I spoke to manager and he had the camera. We were very happy that we got it back. We were very pleased with the service and the follow up from the lost found guy and the guy in charge of the Hyannis port. This is the kind of service that you don't get to often so we were very pleased. I would definitely recommend using this ferry service.

We recently used The Steamship Authority to ferry ⛴ over to Martha’s Vineyard on the day of The Grand Illumination. We had a very pleasant experience and the ferry service was very well run. The ferry was clean and there was plenty of both inside and outside seating available on our trip over to Martha’s Vineyard. I think that they should make it known on the website that there is a $15 parking fee if parking in one of their lots. The bus ride over to the ferry was fine, clean vehicle and professional (careful) driver. The driver that drove us back to the parking lot at the end of the evening was also a very good driver, very careful. A nice experience and in my opinion a well run operation. I would use their services again.

Never met a friendlier group of people. From the parking lot attendants to the captain and crew, everyone was super nice. We were rushing to get the 9:15 ferry and were clearly stressed. Everyone was wicked helpful.
Onboard- the boat was clean and comfortable and we had a smooth rides to and from the island

We booked same day roundtrip discount tickets to Nantucket. Get there early and get a parking spot, which is not too expensive and a short walk to the ferry. It's a short ride to the island, and an easy way to make a day of it. They allowed us to change times of our return to extend our day.

Awful handling of COVID regulations and embarrassing for the Steamship Authority brand. The staff on the Friday night 8:45 PM boat from Nantucket to Hyannis was ill mannered and unfit to perform their day to day responsibilities- the primary one - enforcing masks for the safety of others. There was a party of three misfits on the ship that were 1) drunk and unruly 2) eating a full course dinner without masks which is not allowed on the interior of the ship, let alone the exterior open air section. They were told once to not eat and proceeded to not follow the rules. One male staff member handled this incredibly unprofessionally and got my mother involved by calling her out and asking if she wants his mask on - which she did (duh). These three men then proceeded to go about their disorderly and disruptive behavior then proceeded to target and mock my mother when she once again asked them to wear a mask. We have an 85 year old grandmother at home who i’d like to keep safe.
A second woman came down because the situation escalated with them calling us disgusting names and saying we were “liberals” because we want masks to be worn... Truly appalling that scum like this are bred on this planet and that they can’t be properly taken care of by ship staff. This woman (who should be looked into) only tried to appease these men by playing nice and completely ignoring that they were being animals to the other passengers on board. She did not address the situation with us, but instead, told MY family to calm down because one of the men told her he was a marine. I’m sorry, I don’t give af about his profession if he’s a barbarian - i don’t need to have respect for a marine if he’s not actually protecting this country by not wearing a mask and, on top of that, being disrespectful. Wearing a mask is not black and white. Your Steamship Authority staff should NOT be taking sides. After 2 times of being asked to wear a mask, they should be MOVED to another area or escorted off the boat. They spent the entire hour trash talking my mother and father, but this woman under YOUR employment turned a blind eye to their actions and tried to befriend them. We should be the ones getting an apology for dealing with an hour of this white trash aboard the ship.
I’m so upset and will never ride this ship again, but this situation will be escalated to the Steamship Authority corporate office so the mismanagement of COVID regulations get taken care of, a better policy is put in place when people are being a danger to others and i’m going to request that staff on your roster are thoroughly reviewed. They should not be employed to “play nice” but to enforce the rules and keep safety a priority. As a public relations professional, this is just a huge disappointment to your brand.

We took a day trip to Nantucket from Hyannis, but made the error of paying for the ticket at the kiosk. Don't do this! There are deals online which make it a lot cheaper as we ended up paying over $70pp return. Notwithstanding the price, the trip itself was very pleasant and quick, dropping you off in the main harbour in Nantucket, which is truly worth the visit (whatever the ferry costs).

Ferry was great, staff was good, It was a beautiful day for a ferry ride to Nantucket. Felt safe and secure

great experience!!! the staff on both ends where great. I appreciated the care that was given to my bike as well !!!!

Day trip to Nantucket was awesome. New ferry. Ride was very smooth. Great seating. Boarding was quick and on time.

We tend to use Steamship because it is cheaper and they run better deals. However, the Hyline terminal on Nantucket is so much easier and less chaotic. Steamship in Hyannis runs well though. Parking tends to be very difficult. Parking lots close to terminal fill up quickly and you are forced to park far away and shuttle. The boats are very comfortable and clean. Warning.... pack a snack. Snack bar prices are ridiculous.

We used this company for ferry trips to Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. Martha's Vineyard is the closer of the two islands and the ferry got us there in under an hour. The ferry is large, with a well stocked snack bar and comfortable seating. The waiting areas (on the island and mainland) are large and the boarding/disembarkation was smooth...the ride over was uneventful...Going to Nantucket, we took their high speed ferry (cost more) but got us there in an hour instead of over 2 hours. The ferry was smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable. Recommend booking ahead during the summer regardless of what their web site says because their high speed trips book quickly.

Nice boats, ontime, clean. We were slightly off season so it must be crazy when its full. Most people rushed onto the boat to grab seats - many 2 or 3 groups taking up spots for 6 people. They have tables with 3x3 seating facing each other. The $50 roundtrip in a day deal is really good and would recommend.

Its HyLine or Steamship and given that Steamship is $22 cheaper than the other ($50 pp) we took our chances and went over to Nantucket the other day. The boat ride was smooth, the cabin was cool and other than the overpriced snacks everything was good; even the bathrooms were clean. My only suggestion is there should be more outdoor seating.

I know one doesn't have a lot of options when traveling to the islands with a car, but I'd recommend anyone but this company if you can. To begin, on a perfect day, the boats are delayed 3 hours. Then, in a move that baffles, the company does not treat everyone the same, but allows some customers to maintain their reservation time while others are forced to wait hours. With, of course, no updates or communication.
Again, this company is poorly run and you'd be well served avoiding it if at all possible.

Best way to get to Martha’s Vineyard It only took one hour. We traveled too early in year to get to Nantucket as well but will go next time. Once on the island we rented a Jeep which was a great way to get around. An all day bus pass was $8 which we started out with but wanted to see more!

Traveling to ACK on business, get to the terminal expecting to get the 11am fast ferry. The place is packed, and I had a feeling. Got to the front of the line and the grumpy old ticket seller "Steve A" mumbled out "Sold Out". Bummer I said. He stands and just stares at me. So I grab a schedule and say well, how about the 12 noon slow ferry. One way he says? Ok said I. and he grabs my money. I leave and realize if its this busy, I better get my return ticket. So I get back in line. Same old grumpy guy... ME- Can I buy a return ticket now for the 5;30 slow boat back to Hyannis? Steve says SOLD OUT. Ok, well I guess I'll have to take the 8pm. He sells me another one way ticket. Now I'm super bummed because I have to wait around until 8 and not get back to Hyannis until 10:15 plus a 2 hour ride back to NH.
I go see my accounts, then to the Rose & Crown for lunch and beer and to wait for 4 hours. After two beers I decide to head to the wharf and see about getting on to the 5:30. I also notice that the tickets didn't have the time printed on them. Boat shows up, I get on and off I go saving myself hours of waiting around. Guess what Steve, the boat was 1/2 empty. You really think that this guy would have at least been somewhat forthright and tell me show up to the earlier boat anyway and take my chances. Nope, He was happier telling me what he knew I didn't want to hear,
I get that it's been a long summer Steve, but we all have a job to do and you sucked at yours. Hopefully Im not the only customer that is trying to let the Steamship Authority that maybe you should drive the damn boat and not have to deal with people. keep in mind that Hy-Line is right down the street and goes to the same place.

We took the high speed Ferry(Steamship Authority) to Nantucket and it was a great ride. I like the idea that it only took one hour to get to Nantucket.

Great comfortable ride to Nantucket. Nice snack bar and beverage bar on the Ferry. Outdoor and indoor area to sit. They load and unload passengers quickly, which is great, considering the amount of passengers riding.

I took the Steamship Authority fast ferry to Nantucket this year (and returned on Hy-line just because of scheduled, big mistake). The first thing I really liked was how engaging and friendly the people working for the company were and how helpful they were to all the passengers. I also liked that they separated those with bikes/strollers from other passengers and the cargo storage for these items was right up front. That way I could load/unload my own bike instead of waiting for someone to get it. The ferry itself was clean, easy to navigate and the bathrooms were large and well kept. It is less expensive than the Hy-line and the Hy-line offers a far inferior service. My only issue is the fast ferry service is so much more expensive than the regular service. You are looking at water, if they ran the fast service all the time then they could offer more trips through the day.

Better priced than the other ferry to Nantucket. Could not get the website to work to buy online ticket. On time departures and arrivals, clean, good seating, staff was very friendly.

If you must take your car, you need the big 'slow' boat. 2 hours and 15 minutes across Nantucket Sound. We had a mob of boy scouts on the boat on the way back.

I booked our tickets online and picked them up at the kiosk upon arrival. Was so glad I purchased online as they were turning people away left and right as they were sold out. We did a lot of waiting before each ferry trip and had some stress about seating but all in all it was a good experience.

Made a one-day trip from Hyannis to Nantucket and had a great time. Took the "fast" boat out (one hour) and the slower boat back (2 hours 15 minutes). Very relaxing, great views ... nice snack bar.

Even though there is not too much competition the SA provides a clean and safe way to travel. There are convenient times to travel and the food they serve is pretty good. Be careful where you park and shop around because there are a lot of smiling guys waving you into their lots for a lot of $$

The Fast Ferry to Nantucket was so fast and efficient... If you get your tickets on line and it says 'boarding pass', you still have to go the ticket office to get an actual ticket. We took the 8:15 am out of Hyannis and the 8:45 pm back from Nantucket. Lots of comfy seats, food, and television.

We booked the Hy—Lyne cruise for a day trip over to Martha’s Vineyard. The boat was beautiful, clean and very COVID safe as they still fall under state guidelines for indoor seating. For those who prefer the outdoors there was plenty of space to sit and enjoy the beautiful views of the Cape Cod coastlines. We would highly recommend using the Steamship Authority for your Cape Cod mode of waterway transportation.

The reasons that I did not give the Steamship Authority 5 stars is first, there is no parking currently at the Woods Hole location and we had to take a shuttle. Also, figuring out the schedule was a little confusing. But the price is reasonable and it was a nice, smooth ride. There was a bonus ferry to bring us back that was not on the schedule and we didn't have to wait as long as we thought. Crew was very friendly.

Both hi-speed and slower vessels are offered from Hyannis Harbor to Nantucket, while only a high-speed ferry is offered from there to Martha's Vineyard. Since the cost of the high-speed options are significantly higher, for Martha's Vineyard, we chose to drive 40 minutes to Woods Hole and take the slower, but much less expensive, ferry - just as enjoyable. Either option is great, as the service is timely and efficient.

We booked the fast ferry to Martha's Vineyard and then over to Nantucket and then back. It was a smooth, nice ride. We took the first one out and since we did not rent a car on the Vineyard we traveled to 3 locations on the transit bus. We had lunch and felt like we had seen all we wanted to so just hung out at a close by bar and had a few drinks before departure. Ride to Nantucket was nice and easy and saw a cool pirate looking ship on the way over. Nantucket was soooo cool. Wish we had asked a few more questions and had split our day better. Shops were closing when we got there so after walking around a bit we decided to book the earlier ferry back to Hyannis. Very happy with the ferry service, just wish we had known more when we booked it.

We took the ferry from Oak Bluf to Woods Hole ,We got there in between regular scheduled service so we wound up on a freight ferry , it was quick and kinda fun something a little different

We took the speed ferry to Nantucket from Hyannis and it takes about an hour. Be prepared to pay for parking. Plenty of room in inside cabin with TV’s and very comfortable seating. Outdoor seating is limited. Best way to get to the island.

We took the ferry to Nantucket for the day and it was an efficient service. We took the 09:15 hrs boat that was a 2.25 hours in length and the sun was out so we were able to enjoy the great weather.
We sat outside on the outgoing trip, the chairs and tables are nailed down but I would imagine that there was at least seating for 200 people. Lots of room for strollers and some people had there dogs with them.
There is also seating inside which we used on the return journey as we took the last ferry back from Nantucket to Hyannis as darkness fell and the temperatures went down too.
The price was $37 each for a return ticket and we bought these at the Hyannis ticket office at the harbour on the morning of our departure. The office has a café and bathrooms for public use and there are lots of brochures for tourists.
It was a good and reliable trip and I would definitely use it again.
There are bathrooms and a cafe on board the boat

We so enjoyed taking the ferry to Nantucket! It was a beautiful ride on a safe vessel. We took the regular ferry over and the "fast ferry" back(they very kindly allowed us to exchange our tickets) . Personally I enjoyed the trip over and the slower ride.
*Very limited parking at the actual - we parked up the street at the "Cascade Motor Lodge" lot - reasonable and our car was safe and just a short walk to the ferry terminal.

I have been traveling using steamship authority since I was a kid. It a great company with great boats.

Traveled to the Vineyard on Columbus Day. Choppy seas prevented the connection in Oak Bluffs but we did fine docking in Vineyard Haven and taking the $1.50 shuttle bus 1 way to Oak Bluffs. The ship was clean and left and arrived on time. I would say that they could put a little effort into cleaning the outside windows because they are pretty foggy with salt buildup. Parking in Woods Hole was a challenge but we made it work for us. I would use the Steamship Authority to go the MV again.

Here’s the thing – I had 3 interactions with this outfit, all proving very satisfactory.
1 – I caught the slow (vehicle) ferry from CAPE COD to NANTUCKET. Why the slow ferry? - because I was in holiday mode, in no rush to get anywhere. And it was less expensive – important to this low budget traveler.
This proved a pretty good cruise, plenty of seats in the ultra-spacious cabin, a good snack bar, and interesting views – the first 15% leaving HYANNIS and the last 15%coming in to NANTUCKET TOWN.
Book-in/loading at the HYANNIS end was fast – the terminal there seems to have all the essentials - and disembarkation NANTUCKET end no headaches.
2 – I caught the FAST FERRY from NANTUCKET to MARTHA’S VINYARD. Fact is, I have no recollection of this trip, writing 2.5 months later, which to me means there was nothing to complain about.
3 – Fortunately for me, HEAD OFFICE is in HYANNIS, where I wanted to correct some over-booked trips made earlier – this proved no problem thanks to the mature age lady at the counter. Did it with speed and style.

We took the 45 minute boat ride. The weather was a little rainy so we couldn't be on the deck the entire time. But inside was really nice too.

great fast service over to Nantucket, cannot work out why it was so expensive but runs several times a day, need to book at busy periods, ie Labour weekend
Good day out would use again

It was a very efficient and professional experience. Staff were friendly, vessel was very clean and comfortable. Best way to visit Nantucket.

The trip was nice and was quick. Although pricey to take your own car on trips to Nantucket and Marthas Vineyard it is actually better to go and rent a moped or bikes to explore. We had nice weather and sat out on deck to enjoy the nice day.Getting on and off the ferry went seamlessly. Definitely would recommend the Steamship Authority.

We found their service to be convenient, on time and a comfortable ferry. There are other ferry's that cost a lot more. The seating is good on this, inside, outside with a food and beverage service counter on the 3rd level.

This is the biggest freaking &$@&&” ever!!!! You have to park 10 miles away and it’s still 15$ , not
Including the ferry ride! They have no other parking close to the ferry harbor. There are no signs guiding you
To the parking lot. The personell is more than rude and unfriendly, it’s just money making.

I was nervous about this trip because my husband is handicapped. The crew were amazing! And they are so incredibly organized, from lining the cars into numbered lanes for boarding, to making sure we were parked near the elevator for my husband to have easy access. It was a very pleasant trip and the offloading was just as easy and organized as the boarding. Hope to take them to Nantucket next year.

Terrible, unhelpful website. If we hadn’t had dinner with someone who lived on the island for 20 years, we’d probably still be there. Big clue if you are as clueless as we were: go to the terminal WAY in advance (preferably as you arrive) and get a number for stand-by for the day you want to leave.

Did not know steamship had the high speed ferry. Our local hotel provided us the information and was even a vendor to purchase the ticket, with a week day lower rate. Think I even saw a whale blow on the trip to Nantucket! Very clean and efficient ride. Look forward to repeating the trip.

In reviewing some of these negative reviews I am totally not surprised. We have never dealt with such an unprofessional business. Their total lack of organization and lack of concern for their clients speaks volumes. One word of advice....RUN!

I live within whistle hearing of the Hyannis Terminal of The Steamship Authority. I can see their watercraft entering and leaving Hyannis Harbor and pulling up to the dock. I took the opportunity to take a day trip to Nantucket at the end of the Summer of 2016. The high speed ferry makes the trip across Nantucket Sound seem like hopping a puddle. The crew and is awesomely efficient, responsible, friendly and helpful starting at the ticket sales window right through embarking and dis-barking if there is such a word. They have a great snack bar for your convenience during the trip. You can sit wherever you want to sit, either outside in the sun and wind or inside, especially when the rains start to fall. Ticket are only $50.00 round trip during the week. Cars can be transported but only on the slower larger ferries with plenty of time for an advanced reservation. Now you are talking more than hundred dollars. Nantucket is a walking village, unless you live there you do not need a vehicle to get around. The trip is pretty quick, but it is the journey that makes Nantucket a destination. As I am typing I just heard the ferry blow their departure horn, one long blast and three short toots. So finally, for a quick safe excursion to Nantucket give The Steamship Authority, from their South Street Hyannis Docks a ride.

Well worth the time to take a lovely trip to Marthas Vineyard or Nantucket. The boat has nice food wine and snacks.

We did two trips with these guys. Day one we went from Hyannis to Martha's Vineyard and day two we went from Hyannis to Nantucket. We found the crew very professional. On the return trip from Nantucket on our second day, a lady had fallen and hurt herself. The crew got her a wheelchair, bag of ice and stayed with her for the entire trip until the ambulance met the boat in Hyannis. I was very impressed. We also managed to snag a great rate for both our trips. When booking, make sure you click the 'specials' tab on their website and see what deals they're offering. My only negative comment would be trying to find parking for the day. If you can find the $15 parking lots for a few minutes extra walk, it's a much better deal than some of the lots closer to the ferry terminal.

The ferry ride was fine however there were not enough buses in Hyannis to shuttle passengers to the various offsite parking lots. We waited for 45 minutes with no sight of any returning buses. We finally had to flag a cab to get us to our car. We spoke to two Steamship employees and their attitude was don't use our lots if you don't like our service. Save yourself the hassle and take the Hyline which is very well organized with on site parking.

This is more then a trip over to the out laying islands, this is comfort with clean rest rooms, snack bar with reasonable prices and a great view. You even get free Wi-Fi.

Returned from a quick trip to Nantucket on this service. It was very slick and very comfortable indeed. A no brainer.

We took the fast ferry to Nantucket, and received the midweek deal of $50 same day round trip. Easy way to travel: fast and convenient!

We took the high speed ferry to Nantucket from Hyannis. We stayed at a nearby motel and walked the couple of blocks to the port and avoided paying the $15-20 parking fee and hassle. We went on a Tuesday and got the reduced rate of $50 RT (Monday-Thursday). The ride was smooth, seating plentiful and comfortable. We were in Nantucket in exactly 1 hour.

Clean ship.friendly service, and a great snack bar. The boat was on time to Nantucket and back to Hyannis.

It is a great fast ride over to Nantucket! I loved it though the smell of clam chowder which is not currently allowed on my diet was making me so hungry!!!

The employees on the boat it self are very rude and inconsiderate, during this covid-19 epidemic they require masks to be work when the employees don’t even keep them covering their own faces. When addressed I was told that it’s not his problem.

The high speed ferry to Nantucket was great-on time both ways and affordable for a one day trip! Highly recommend!

we took the high speed ferry from Hyannis to Nantuckett. The ride was very nice and the round trip fare was a bit cheaper than the Hyline high speed ferry next door $50 vs $77. The ride was nice.

The Island Queen takes you to Oak Bluffs in season. We find that parking is 100 times easier than the Steamship Authority. And the vessel is comfortable and clean.

My son & I took a nice trip around the Harbor on the Steamship Authority. The gentleman doing the talking was very informative. It's about a 75 minute ride. The one thing I should have brought was a sweatshirt. Even though the weather was beautiful on land, it was very cold on the boat. It didn't ruin my time. It was a great ride.

We took the high speed ferry to Nantucket on a recent trip to Hyannis. It is $50 during the week and higher on the weekends. We were there in late September to avoid the horrendous crowds of July and August. The offseason is best. We took the late morning ferry out and the 3:30 ferry back. This gave us enough time to have lunch in Nantucket and take a two hour tour of the island. The trip over is about one hour. If you take the slow boat it is over two hours each way.

The Iyanough is such a nice boat. The staff is great too. The high speed service is great and the quick spiel when you get on board form the captain is clear. I am not a fan of the traditional boat because I have motion sickness, but the staff on that is attentive and great too.

Went to the islands for the first time and took the Steamship to Nantucket on Monday morning. They offered a late return which is what we were looking for! We took the fast version which is more expensive (it was $77 round trip I believe?). But it got us there in a n hour and was comfortable. I'd probably go for a cheaper option next time, but no complaints!

No issues. The staff were friendly and there is wifi onboard.
You can park and they will shuttle you to the ship. The driver of the shuttle not a lot friendly...but I can get by.

Took the ferry to Oaks Bluff. The rout and parking could have been marked a little better. Other than that everything seemed organized.Plenty of indoor and outdoor riding option. One of the staff came by and showed us on the map the absolute highlights of MV.

We were staying in Hyannis and wanted to take a day trip to Nantucket, so we checked out the various ferry options. The high speed ferries were a bit pricey for our taste, so we opted for the traditional ferry with Steamship.
We weren’t taking cars or bikes so we were able to buy tickets and walk right on. There are plenty of seating options, both inside and outside. The ferries were clean, well maintained and operated on a very timely basis.
We could not have asked for a smoother experience!

We had a weekend away in Yarmouth and decided last minute to take the high speed ferry to Nantucket because we’d never been before. The ferry staff are organized and the journey was very smooth even with high winds. They have a well stocked snack bar if you get hungry. Plenty of comfortable seats too.

The boat seemed clean and people were asked to wear masks (which was nice, seeing as we have no idea where anyone is from). The service was on time to the minute!

Wanted to go to Oak Bluffes this weekend to do the Triathlon. The Triathlon was cancelled. This wan't a good enough excuse for them to =refund the trip. They do not hold a candle to the customer service of the Cape May Ferry!!!!!

We took advantage of the fast ferry (1 hour) from Hyannis to Nantucket for a day trip to the island. The ferry is clean and comfortable, with full facilities. Those returning on it in the evening may want to sit on the left side to view the sunset on the way back.

The one hour ride to Nantucket was relaxing and the onboard snack shop was well stocked with many healthy options and not just junk food. good coffee. Nice staff and reasonable mid week rates.

Took the fast speed ferry to Nantucket with a group of 5 people. Service and staff were great, Best deal is the Steamship Authority is 20% cheaper than HY-Line out of Hyannis. Only issue is the parking. Happy sailing. Pete

This was great from start to finish: getting the tickets, storing the luggage, getting on board, leaving on time, getting a seat, exiting the ferry, retrieving our luggage. It was a relief to have everything move along so smoothly. Only problem, not with them, but once at the parking lot in Hyannis to pick up our car the gate wouldn't go up and we had to wait 15 minutes before they had that working. ??? Only snag in our trip.

Love this service. Great 'quick' boat ride to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket (or you can take the leisurely 3 hour trip). Refreshments on board and good island tour information (bus trips, bikes, etc). Always exciting when you are transversing the Nantucket Sound! :)

We took the high speed ferry to Nantucket. The weather was good , ferry was quite new, fast, and comfortable. Everything ran efficiently; we enjoyed the crossing.

Sullen uncooperative employees. This ferry to Nantucket is designed for vehicular traffic and frequent travellers. Employees "tolerate" the seldom traveled passenger. SSA website is almost impossible to leave negative feedback. This is our second trip on the SSA and the last. On a previous trip the SSA employees were worse! Growing up in Massachusetts the crabby behavior of the Registry employees was legendary, now I think they all were transferred to The SSA.

Park in their lot away from the port ($15 per calendar day - not per 24 hours) and get the shuttle to the port.
Our ferries left on time and arrived on time. On the return leg the weather on Nantucket was awful so we brought forward our ferry time without a problem or charge. We found the staff friendly.
Worked well for us.

We had taken a trip to Martha's Vineyard a day earlier from Falmouth on the Island Queen and decided to try a different ship this time and chose the high speed ferry from South Street. Even though the weather was beautiful, the speed at which the boat travels makes the trip quite windy and a lot cooler than the regular trip, so after a short stay outside, we moved back inside and sat in what could be considered luxury seating especially compared to the Island Queen. Seating similar to airline seats with large high definition screens surrounding the main seating area, created an illusion of flight rather than sailing. The trip was smooth and very quick on both legs of the trip. Definitely the way to go.

Trip to Nantucket took a leisurely 2 hours but, as a foot passenger was much cheaper than the Hy Line fast ferry. We went for the day and enjoyed the boat trip as much as the stroll around Nantucket

Took high speed over to Nantucket. Trip took 1 hour. Was more comfortable than the slow boat to Martha's. Good embarkation and disembarkation. No complaints.

Nice ships mechanically sound for the ocean or bay, well organized for busy times, but difficult to get a ticket for desired time. A lot of " standby". Can't be in a hurry travelling to and from island. Fast and comfortable for average seas. Expensive for cars as expected, there are buses on the island, so you can take the people ferry, much cheaper.

a great way to get to the Island of Nantucket which is a great day trip or a place to spend some great vacation days. We mostly spend about a week or ten days here. a great beach is available and the town itself is a true gem. The small restaurants are very nice and so are the large ones, however the large ones tend to be a bit expensive and I like the felling I get in the smaller ones plus saving money also. The small places to stay on the Island are very nice and clean and the owners are for the most part very proud of there places. The shops are varied and it is fun sometimes just to kind of window shop and pick up some small things for friends and family.
The steamship is a nice, fast, clean way to go and the price is not bad. If you bike take one.If they take cars when you go over for more than a day take it. If not you will pay dearly for a rent a car service. I say this due to it was long ago I made my first trip over and someone said
You do not need a car as it is a small Island,Oh,did I find out.Rented a car and left a brand new Caddy in a parking lot on the mainland.
Bad move folks. This is personal advise, take it or leave it. that is an old saying but the correct part is Take it.do not leave it.so we visit and take it for the long time stays. short stay of a day or even two you can get around ok or hire a cab or bus like vehicle. Have a great time. It is an outstanding place to visit.

Professional service to the island! If you want to return sooner than your purchased return, simply see an attendant at the station and they will be happy to assist.

Make sure to bring a light sweater as the ferry is freezing on the top level --- really just too cold !!!!

We took the ferry to Nantucket and even though we went for the early deal (first ferry) it still seemed quite expensive and however the ferry was fast and had free WiFi.

$50 per person round trip. Shuttle provided in Hyannis to parking area. $12 for parking. Was on time both ways. No issues.

It's a ferry. It got us from one bit of land to another without sinking and without us getting our feet wet. Not sure there is much more to say ! Good job.

Well its a bit pricy. One hour trip cost 36.5$ one way. Boarding itself was a bit chaootic with people standing everywhere, not in lines as they suppose. Ferry itself is comfortable and wifi really reliable and fast. Can not compare with competitors, nbecause I am using this service for the first time.

The trip there was hot, no air inside the cabin. The employees were all screaming at people including kids to keep masks on. The return trip none of the employees were wearing masks and didn’t mention them to anyone else. Very strange. $220 for 4 people to get to Nantucket. Wouldn’t do it again!!

Very well organized, on time and comfortable ferry travel to Nantucket. Although the Hyline ferry was right across from our hotel, we opted for steamship authority for our travel to Nantucket as we did not have to commit to a return trip back to Hyannis as was required by Hyline allowing for more flexibility in our sightseeing.

Sankaty light house and the village of Nantucket are worth the visit.
Hyannis when the buses are doing what they are supposed to do is a good thing.
Found a reasonably priced motel walking distance from the Steamship Authority terminal in Hyannis.

My family and I grew up in Martha's Vineyard, We have since moved "off island" and occasionally go home to see the old stomping grounds. There are 2 options to travel to the Vineyard. We always choose the Steamship Authority because of speed, efficiency, friendliness, and cleanliness. Parking is off site with comfortable and spacious buses.

Same day round trip ferry service from Hyannis to Nantucket is a bargain from Monday though Thursday on the Steamship Authority's high speed service. Adults pay only $50 for this service on these days vs. Hy-Line's $79 RT rate.

They have no on-site parking but gave directions for the parking lot where a shuttle takes you directly to the ferry. Parking fee was $13. When the shuttle brings you back to the lot, the driver is very nice and takes you to the area where you parked your car.

This one hour boat ride was a terrible experience. This boat is merely a moving dog park. There were dogs fighting with each other while waiting in line to board the boat and then fighting inside. Meanwhile, there weresmall children present. They should have a separate section for dog owners. You couldn’t even go to the bathroom without getting tangled in a dog leash. They were lay across all of the aisles. This was very inconsiderate for people who are not dog lovers. I will never be riding this ferry again.

August 30 th. Steamship had to quarantine a boat for COVID. Ok I get it. But No communication to any of us who had reservations on that ship. Where is upper management, terrible job. Telling Us to wait for an email with no time frame of when we may board. Why if you have my email am I’m in line at 8:20 for the 9:15 that is never showing. It is now 4:00 pm and I was told I’m not on the 5:30. And if I get an email to be on the 8:00pm and I want to now leave tomorrow instead of spending the day waiting for an email that may not come. I’m back to bottom of wait list. Fire the guy in charge. I fell sorry for the nice lady in front of me with 2 young children.

If you’re going to Nantucket for a mid-week day round trip, think the SSA; they have discounted round trip fast ferry summer rates.
We ride our bikes to the terminal, pay for their cartage, and receive them at the other end.
Where to go on Island? Make sure you check out Cisco Brewery... it’s becoming quite the great diversion.
Then ride back (sober of course).

We easily ordered our tickets online the day before and were able to board with an electronic boarding pass emailed to me. Wheelchair accessible, they let us board first. The ferry is clean and updated. It only took 1 hour to get to Nantucket. The food and drinks are grossly overpriced. I paid $8.00 for 4 tiny, snack sized bags of chips. The bathrooms were large and clean. Smooth sailing. Will take again.

We took a day trip to Martha's Vinyard and parked in the Palmer Avenue Lot. My rental car was side-swiped by someone trying to park in the adjacent spot. Steamship Authority has cameras everywhere, including where I parked. They have the video of the person hitting my car, getting out and looking at the damage and then driving away. They refuse to give me a copy of the video. Now I'm out $925 in damages to my rental car with zero help from Steamship. Very disappointing - obviously, won't be back

We took the fast ferry and were not disappointed. the sailing was smooth, comfortable seating. Getting on and of was quick.

very fast comfortable ferry service between cape code and Nantucket or marthas vineyard islands. there is a bar on board, which also serves food.indoor and also out door seating on the open deck at the back.these fast ferrys are the way to go.also look out for special offers on ticket prices

The park and shuttle option is ridiculous, not enough shuttles and. Unsafe amount of people riding the shuttles that are going. Calling. Department of public safety to investigate.

A crossing to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard is always fun on the Steamship Authority. Convenient, affordable prices for passengers from Wood's Hole or Hyannis. (Cars are pricey. Be sure to make a reservation well ahead of time!) Large ferries make even landlubbers feel safe and secure. Snack bar available when not in "Corona Season". Be sure to watch the activity outside on deck during nicer weather! Sunsets at sea are amazing and memorable. I highly recommend the Eagle!

We took a rie to Martha's Vineyard and the boat was great, nice friendly staff and the cost was not bad for us, we did NOT take our car over, we walk around , shopped and had a bite to eat and returned to cape cod in the afternoon, Nice ride.

it was a great ride. Very nice people, very helpful and cheap. we were glad to be on the ferry. The weather was lousy..but of course, nobody can control that.

I love these vessels. You get to the islands quickly so you can spend more time there than getting there. The boats are comfortable and smooth with food and drinks.

I was on 8:15am ferry and was able to get the closer parking lot. Very convenient to walk to terminal building. Boarding was easy. On return trip back from Nantucket, there was a slight delay in boarding but overall still a good experience. Ship is comfortable and staff is polite.

everyone working was friendly they know what they are doing prices are diffent so watch were you buy your tickets if you can we bought them though our hotel much better price

Caught the ferry to Nantucket was easy and cheap to use. Staff were friendly and comfy seating option to sit outside at the back but it does get blowy! Great way to travel

We take this ferry service often when we are visiting Martha's Vineyard with our vehicle. They are very professional, reliable, and know what they are doing. The entire process from booking online, to showing up and getting "in line" is an easy one.

First time, cannot say enough good things about our experience. The Caption, all the crew, professional, great job.The trip was smooth considering we were going 40 MPH -- Wow ! Very comfortable chairs, nice concession stand, fresh food.Is a once in a lifetime experience. Highly recommend it !

Best way to reach both Nantucket and Martha's vineyard. All staff of the company is very good and helpful. You won't be disappointed from your trip.

We took the fast ferry frpm Hyannis to Nantucket and back. The offer a good same day round trip price. It only took an hour to get there. The seats are comfortable, and they have a cafe on board.

Friendly staff and very helpful and very accomadating. They answered all my questions and took the time to listen.

We did a trip with these guys to Nantucket and back. Great experience. Ran on time both ways. This is the best way to travel ----- very relaxing. The views are incredible, the ferry is clean , and the crew is very professional.

Easy to buy tickets at the dock. Ship was easy to board and move around. They sell food and drinks on board with rest rooms. Available. The crew advise where life jackets are before leaving dock. Nice ride. Only issue. Was alittle chaotic , as didn’t know could not park at dock and were advised to go back 6 miles to parking lot. Then catch the ferry bus. Which had no ac and no windows open. Was very hot and crowded. Is about a 20 minute ride back to ship . And upon leaving ship must figure out which bus (3 of them ) is taking you back to correct parking lot for your car. Make sure you bring your parking ticket with you as they are color coded to the correct bus. And maybe wrote down your parking area. As they are huge. WAs a bit much for me as wAs our first time.

Fun ride to Martha's Vineyard. Long line to board moves fairly quickly. I always go up top and hang out on the rail to watch the scenery. The inside can get humid and crowded. I prefer the fresh air. There is food on board. Also, an elevator for the disabled. Staff is friendly and helpful.

We did a day trip to Nantucket on the high speed ferry. TSA offers a $50 daily round trip, which the other line does not. They are efficient at loading the ship. They are extremely punctual, so don't be a minute late!

Easy to book. Ferry ride was good but Parking is a headache. Not allowed on actual property. Drove to parking lot recommend and it was closed. Had to drive 20 mins out of our way to the other one to be transported to ferry and back after.

So who really cares how well appointed the boat is. Just a bit expensive to travel a car across.. but its the Vineyard and its worth it.

Quick and easy - 1 hour from Hyannis to Nantucket.
Easy boarding, clean, food available.
I would recommend getting a reservation during the busy summer weeks, as there were a lot of people going standby.

marthas vineyard was a snap...going to nanticket today...prices cheaper than the hyline ferry...seem to be on time

the only way to get to Martha's vineyard with the wind and the salt air in tour hair, sit back have a cup of java and enjoy your short ride over to the island

We have been taking our car from Hyannis to Nantucket and back for many years now, to visit Nantucket at various times in the summer. The Steamship Authority is very dependable, accommodating, has decent food and the people are nice and friendly. I thought I ought to give them some kudos after all the great trips we have had. A secret for you: the trip itself back and forth is really fun, not just a way to go from here to there! Try it, you will really like it!

Travelled by public transport throughout cape cod, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard and boston, and would recommend it. Everything went great, bus, ferries were great, on time, clean, loved it.

We love this place. Often times we sit on a bench and just watch everyone come & go . Some on the ships to Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket . Very large ships, they carry cars as well as people. there is a small store to buy snacks& drinks. they have 3-4 floors and have seats inside & out on the deck. If I remember correctly it cost about $75.00 to go to the Martha's Vineyard for the day.
There are many that go on the fishing boats and tour boats. There's a pirate boat for kids, my grandsons loved it.They dressed them up as pirates and had a lot of activities, My husband and I also enjoyed a tour of the lighthouses. Very friendly tour guides with a lot of knowledge about the lighthouses. We need this quiet alone and enjoyed it so much.

...especially if you're taking a car to Nantucket. Make your car reservation well in advance during "pre-season" and, I would assume, during the summer as well. Comfortable seating during the trip. Snack/drinks bar available.

Great way to get to the islands. Parking is off site, but reasonable. Frequent buses take you to the ferry. Beautiful ride out and back.

Take the fastest ferry to Nantucket and save money. You save more than $20 round trip over Hi line ferry. Good clean boat with super fast service.

Had a really good time visiting the Vineyard
Ferry on time and without hassle - pleasant trip over and back.
Visited the cottage colony which was very nice and interesting.

If you are spending time at the cape don't miss a day trip to Nantucket in the high speed ferry. In just an hour on a lovely boat with fresh outdoor seating or inside with tv, air conditioning, snack bar and comfortable chairs. In just that hour you go back a century to Nantucket. The town is beautiful and if you just go to shop and eat lunch it's a great trip. Or you can venture out to the islands natural beauty with great bike paths or rent a jeep and drive on the beach. For those worried about boats my wife easily gets sea sick but the high speed catamaran is so stable she never has a problem. Also take the steamship over high line it is cheaper. Parking at both can be a challenge so arrive a bit early drop of your party to get tickets (while one is getting tickets the other can get a place in the line) and drive around you will find a lot.

We loved this ferry! Fast, efficient way to get to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard...majestic ride on the ocean!

Steamship offers the best price to Nantucket for a one day round trip. If you travel Monday - Thursday you get a great discount, the other ferries do not.
The Crew are great guys! They were helpful with my husband's concerns about sea sickness and recommended where he should sit.The sea was calm the day we traveled and we had a fantastic day trip to Nantucket!
Parking was easy and also less expensive than others. The lot was monitored and a shuttle was provided to the ferry. We highly recommend you use this ferry service.

We were staying in Brewster for a few days and wanted to go over to MV for the day. Steamship Authority out of Woods Hole is the best way to do this. There is plenty of parking and a shuttle to the boat. Round trip is $17. You can take your car but you will need reservations for that and it is very expensive. You can purchase a ON/OFF bus pass for the day at the MV dock and see everything you want to.

We took the high speed ferry to Nantucket for a day trip. It took a little under an hour.
The trip was pleasant and relaxing. It is an excellent way to get to Nantucket.
We did not ferry the car because of the cost. As we later observed, driving and parking on Nantucket are hellish so I am glad that we left the car on the mainland.
The town is accessible on foot an other parts of the island are accessible by the bus line.
The one thing that annoyed me was the state police (two in formal uniforms, one in khakis and a polo shirt) and their drug dog. Travelers all had to walk past them to get onto the boat. I didn't observe them actually interacting with travelers, but the dog was clearly checking out everyone who boarded the boat to go to the island. I am not a user but I still find it annoying.

We purchased our high-speed ferry roundtrip tickets online. The total cost for 2 tickets was $138 (including embarkation fees.) The process was very easy and we received a link to download our mobile tickets.
On the morning of our ferry ride, we checked the Steamship Authority website for parking options. The recommended lot had lots of parking and was $15 per day. A free shuttle was available to/from the ferry.
Before boarding the ferry, our duffel bags were loaded onto a luggage cart (as we were only allowed to bring smaller bags to our seats.) The ferry was clean and not crowded; it was easy to social-distance.
After departing, we arrived at Nantucket within an hour. It was a nice ride both to and from the island.
Note: Same-day roundtrip tickets are cheaper than roundtrip tickets departing on different days.

Hyline Cruises provide on-time service to Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket from various points on Cape Cod on several different types of water craft. You cantake a regular or fast ferry for from $45 to $70 round trip. The regular or traditional ferry takes 11/2 hours from Hyannis to Martha's Vineyard on very clean manned by a very courteous crew.

Fast and painless trip to Nantucket. On time, comfortable seats. Gorgeous view of sunset on way back.

Call ahead to reserve your place(s) on the Steamship Authority "fast" ferry, the hydrofoil which jets you to Nantucket in about an hour. No vehicles on this fast boat. But there is wifi, a snack bar, and comfy seats. Even a few wall-mounted TV screens tuned to sports.

All staff that I encountered were so friendly and so nice, go out of their way to help you. Also the line to and from Nantucket is so much easier and efficient than traveling the other high speed ferry. Appreciate that they even have numbered luggage carts so you can quickly grab your luggage without having to wait in long lines.

Took our car onto the Steamship Authority ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Nice ride for ~35 minutes. There are seating on levels 2 & 3, but tables are only on 3rd floor. Go early if you want a table seat. Be aware that the departure port may be at a different location than the arrival port. We had to drive around quite a bit to discover this.

Day trip to nantucket for 5. Tix were pricey ($50 each) but they have this down to a science. Less than an hour ride. Outdoor seating available. Inside is super comfy seats and even seating for 6 around a table! There are bathrooms aboard and food and drinks available. People were saying the line for what I think were alcoholic drinks at 11am was very long. We didn't get food. You really do need to book a day or more in advance. Be nearly an hour. The parking is not right at the ferry but each lot has a shuttle and costs $15 to park. Make sure to leave enough time! There are buses as well as bike shops everywhere. Last ferry home is 8:45 so don't be late/. They leave on the dot!

They do a great job. Much superior to the High Line in my opinion especially if you need to transport a car..Easier embarkation and debarkation in Nantucket. Make your reservation far in advance if you are transporting a car.

The terminal is set up to offer easy access to the ticket window, dropping off your baggage and grabbing a quick cup of coffee before boarding.

This high speed ferry was a perfect way to get over to Nantucket. Very comfortable, clean and a relatively quick trip. Highly recommend.

Great trip from Woods Hole to Oaks Bluff.
My problem is the return trip. We were situated at a tavern overlooking the dock for a 520 depart. They sent a totally different ship. Being tourists, we weren't aware they sent different ships.
Upon cashing out at 515, our bartender let us know that it was the Authority boat.
We ran to dock and made it by 519, but were informed we couldn't board while still the boat was still firmly docked.
Very disappointed. Amenities we're great but many things need to be made more clear regarding transport. We lost multiple hours to our day. They also need to allow a buffer time.

This was a great way to travel to Nantucket. The seats were comfortable and the trip was fast and smooth. We departed on time and arrived on time. I would advise getting tickets the day before to guarantee travel. I would arrive 1/2 hour early as the line gets long waiting for the steamship to arrive. We found this to be the least expensive way to reach the island.

What a nice ferry! Sturdy, clean and they have a snack bar if you're hungry. The most comfortable seats I've ever been in.

Always use them when going to the island. Love being able to buy a ticket online or on the off season, over the phone.

We have been using the SSA for decades now. The service is adequate and the food is average. The people on the ship are what make the SSA very good. They are always friendly and helpful. The ar quick to point you in the right direction and never too busy to stop and strike up a conversation, boats and sea stuff are hot topics.

Very nice and peaceful way to travel to Martha's Vineyard. I really enjoyed the trip. It was a great way to travel on the ferry, across the water. I was with a group of people traveling, we had a wonderful time. It was interesting to see all of the automobiles, tractor trailers, motorcycles, and etc. loading on the bottom of the ferry. Met a lot of nice people on the ferry.

We took the MV Nantucket to Martha's Vineyard. It was very organized and on time trip. We got off the car and went upstairs to take in the view. They have a snack bar. Pricey but just like anything else it comes with the territory.

Quick efficient and clean 1 hour ride to Nantucket. $50 same day round trip. Parking can be a problem. City really should increase their max time parking lot from 6 hours. It’s free to 6 hours but I’d suggest a flat $10 from 6-24 hours. All that extra income and customers for your shops who are forced to walk through your town.

Enjoyed our boat ride very mucu on the steamship. Excellent service. Comfy seating and smooth sailing. Cant ask for much more than that.....except the lower fare compared to the hyannis boat transportation. 27.00 less for round trip. This is the only one we will use.

We done a Nantucket day trip with this co. Excellent friendly service provided by all staff. There was a good selection of timings and a great monday -Thursday price of $50 return trip.

We took the Steamship to Nantucket from Hyannis and the Hy-Liner on the way back. This is a good way to not be locked in to a return time, unless one of the trips is full, which is a problem that we ran into (girls lacrosse tournament). We went on May 1, which was nice because the weather was good and not too many people but there were a lot of places on Nantucket that were not open yet or not open on Sunday so there wasn’t much to do besides eat and drink so consider these things when planning your trip. Staff on both vessels were helpful and nice. Parking is not included with your fare, plan to pay around $12/ day for Steamship. Our hotel was close so we walked.

On time. One hour as advertised. Decent seating. Not sure what it’s like in the summer season. Cheaper than some alternatives. Would certainly use this option again.

My recent trip of using the Steamship was a good one. Bought my tickets previous day for my trip. Went on August 15th which happened to be my birthday. We lined up and got on the boat at approximately the time stated for the ride and had a pleasant trip over to Nantucket.

Had another great visit out to the Vineyard and another seamless trip on the ferry. Pricey with the car but not much you can do about that if you want to drive around the island.

We enjoyed the best boat ride ever. Friendly and happy to help staff. Smooth ride to Nantucket and back. Purchase tickets at the station, on line is very confusing and difficult to take advantages of specials. We got an special mid week fare. We did not take our vehicle, so I have no idea how that works yet.
Just passenger fast boat ride was fantastic, just one hour and you are at the island. Apparently, you purchase round trip ticket but you can get back anytime before the end of the day..
It is out of season, so was not crowded at all. Seats were available in the boat in both decks and outside, you can even purchase food. Bathrooms were clean.
Parking lotes are available to a side of the docks and in front hospital just a couple of blocks away, used back door corridor. Price was fair.
Ride is a bit expensive by worthy. Must do if you have the chance.

Ship was spacious and clean, trip across was good and smooth .Boarding and embarkation well organised .

We took the fast ferry to Nantucket and were pleased. Departure from Hyannis and Nantucket were on time and the trip took an hour or less in each direction. The ferry was clean and comfortable. The only complaint is the limited outdoor options on the fast ferry. Both terminals were clean and comfortable with the Nantucket terminal currently being renovated.

My friend and I took the Ferry to Nantucket (2 hour). It was great. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating. The washrooms were clean and lots of snacks/drinks available.
We brought our own snacks and drinks so we had our own little party boat section. Would use again.

This was a very relaxing, lovely ferry ride to Martha's Vineyard. The Ferry was clean and comfortable. The weather was perfect to be on the water, except for the ride home. We rode into a squall and it was a bit rough. The ferry accomodates cars, buses and motorcycles. All in all, it was a very pleasant ride.

The ferry to Nantucket from Hyannis was super simple. It would have been nice for the cafe on board to offer more healthy options, but overall, the experience was just fine.

We took the high speed boat ride back and forth to Nantucket for a day trip. The boat itself is comfortable and pretty. The food service inside the boat was excellent as well. Being from out of town the signs for parking was horrible. We were frantically driving around trying to find the parking lot they asked us to go to. The boat ride on the way back was delayed and upon arrival they packed us into the shuttle buses like sardines to take us to our parking lots. The drivers and staff can definitely use some training in customer service. Very obvious this is a union run government service. Next time will try the private boat company right next door.

We had trouble with the website not accepting our card. Called through and they book the booking without payment asking us to come early and pay in office. Card worked there so it's most likely the website not accepting cards issued outside of USA.
Loading and unloading was fast and efficient.

Excellent trip to Nantucket , friendly staff , professional , lovely day out if a touch pricey for families

We bought our Fast Ferry RT tickets to Nantucket at the terminal the day before($110 for 2), stayed 2 nights at the Hyannis Travel Inn, then walked ½ mile to board at 11 AM. Our 1 hour journey was pleasant both ways as the sea was calm. On arrival, we walked 2 blocks to the Whaling Museum, then took a taxi($17) 4 mile south to the Shipwreck and Lifesaving Museum and returned to walk the Main Street mansions until the 3:30 PM ferry. Wonderful day using this punctual, well run ferry with clean restrooms, good food and drinks, pleasant crew and port staff.
Highly recommended.

The ferry left exactly on time every trip we took back and forth for a month.
It was the off season and I felt boarding and disembarking were so simple.

Despite the fact that I was born in Fall River, Mass., the gateway to Cape Cod, I had never gone to Nantucket. I went online and found three ferry lines that take you to Nantucket. Steamship was the best price to go to Nantucket. However, here is what I learned: Fast ferries don't take your car over. The slow ferries do, but charge $400. We were already renting a car, but looked online to book a car rental on Nantucket. Online, there is a two-day minimum, which ends up being over $400 anyway. We decided to wing it and see once we got to the island. There is a rental place right near the ferry landing, but they charge too much, probably because they know they are the closest to the ferry. We left there and went down a side street and found a place that was a lot cheaper. On our way back into the ferry, there was uneven ground, and my husband fell and hit the side of his head. The Steamship Authority staff were so helpful, and took care of his wound on the side of his head, and lent us a wheelchair for him. They were fantastic.

There is a Fast Ferry and one that takes a little longer but it does carry automobiles. comfortable seating and a snack bar available.

Being that I don't want to fly to Nantucket, the only other way to get there is by ferry. We went on the high speed ferry which takes an hour. There was plenty of seating and nothing to complain about the ride. We rode outside on the way over and inside on the way back. Parking is located a few blocks away but is an easy walk.

Relaxing and great way to experience the beauty of this landmark area of the U.S. Loved the simplicity and nostalgic aspects of the communities. Get away from the hustle of the big cities and sit back and relax a great boat ride across beautiful waters.

A good bargain at $50.00 for round trip high speed ferry to Nantucket - Mon - Thurs a nice deal! The high speed ferry gets you to Nantucket in about 1 hour and is very comfortable ride with a snack bar for drinks and snacks.

The trip across on the slow moving ferry boat is relaxing. And you can’t beat the view as you round the lighthouse and first see the harbor and town. When departing you also see a shower of Pennie’s hitting the water as riders round Brant Point Lighthouse and make a wish to return!

The Hy-Line version of the fast ferry was $27 more per person. T he Steamship Authority was a fast(hour) ride to Nantucket and a better value. A/C inside with plenty of seating, but outdoor seating was llmited

This brief ride from Woods Hole to Martha's Vineyard was pleasant and the sights was nice. The big problem with this company is that they are not prepared to handle a large group that need to park. Yes they have the lots all over the little town of Falmouth, but the distance is crazy. If you park at one of the lots that is far away....just remember it is going to take them 1 hour or longer to come pick you up after taking a load. Crazy after getting off the ship for the end of your day to stand in a long line to wait more than 1 hour to get to your car...then a long drive there. I did not like this part and would not use them again if I had a car in the area. I took my 2nd trip with the other company and it was a much smoother transition from ferry to parking lot. The cost is not that much more....remember you get what you pay for. Pay a little more for the convenience of getting back to your car and having a well organized trip into MV.
SSA you need to do better, your old buses are just ridiculous in 2018. Where is all your money going/??

The trip over was very fast. I was there before I knew it. Good food and drinks on board. Plenty of room on it.

What a relaxing way to spend time out on the boat. Breathtaking views, seeing sea creatures in their habitat, snack bars

If you travel Mon-Thurs there's a much better price on the high speed ferry and you can reserve your tickets online. If you're taking your bike, you will have priority and will be the first ones on the ship. Everything runs smoothly and is very organized. There's free wifi and it's a comfortable trip.

Hi-speed or regular speed, ferries are comfortable, with snack bar; comfy seating (you can easily stretch even long legs). Great jumping off point to Nantucket. Free shuttle to bus and weekend train to Boston.

This was a trip from Hyannis to Nantucket. It was on schedule and was a pleasure to be on board. Refreshments are available for purchase. Free WiFi on board.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. total mismanagement. they cancelled 2 high speed ferries this morning. said we would have no problem on the noon ferry. we got there an hour before, waited online, were told everyone would get on. then they refused to let half the people on after an hour of waiting. they were horribly disorganized
To make it worse the main guy on charge was arrogant, rude, disrespectful and nasty. They have no skill in managing during COVID and ruined my vacation. we are now headed home
don't let them ruin yours and if anything goes wrong expect to be met with total jerks.

Great way to get to the island. Never having been there before we were a little unsure of what to do. We decided to take the boat over from Hyannis. Great trip, very comfortable and you stop right in town. We walked a little and then used the bus to get around.

We took the ferry to Nantucket on a Sunday. The parking for handicap is fabulous. The ferry is on time and not noisy. The announcements were clear and easy to hear.
We took Hyline and the next to MV and they left late and were very noisy, couldnt hear the announcements at all. Parking for handicap is not real convenient.

We took the ferry to Martha's vineyard and the 60 minute sail was great. We didn't know that we had the option to ferry our SUV as well so we had to take the buses to get around at Martha's.

We took the fast ferry over to Nantucket and really enjoyed the ride. The boat was clean and everything was very organized and on time! Bought our tickets online and it was super easy - just had to line up when we got there and they scan as you board. We were lucky to be able to get a spot in the main lot - a 1 minute walk to the boat. $30 for an overnight stay for parking.

Four of us took this ferry to spend the day on Nantucket It was a very smooth ride and they have a good selection of items to purchase at the food counter. The service there as well as the entire crew was very good

Used this company twice to go to Martha's Vineyard and they are always on time and very easy to complete a day trip to any of the islands of Boston.

Took the ferry to and from MV. Gorgeous views both ways. Took the 7:15pm ferry back to Woods Hole and we were treated to an amazing sunset on the water! Covid practices are in place and masks are required for the duration of the trip. Highly recommend!

This is a very relaxing way to get to Nantucket. There is plenty of room and it is a very calm and nice journey across.

The cruises are part of the Islands experience.
Generally, other than in winter and its fringes the seas are calm and weather comfortable are breathtaking and unique.
We found the vessels clean, well-maintained and staffed.
Two things would enhance the experience, a 24-hour information phone number and decent food aboard (like the Seattle ferries).
The views into and out of all ports

The high-speed ferry to Nantucket provided a comfortable crossing in inclement weather - heavy rains and choppy water did not make for an uncomfortable ride. On the way over (mid-week) there was plenty of room. On the return trip (Sunday afternoon) the ferry was packed providing a less comfortable ride. Masks were mandatory, although come passengers did not wear masks - I was surprised the staff did not enforce the rules. No break on the fare if you book round-trip at $75 each way. There are other ferries in the harbor offering lower fares operating on the route (although I have no experience with them). Overall a pleasant travel experience.

Great way to travel - very comfortable and convinient! The boat was clean and fast. The staff friendly and very helpful! They even sell food on board! Loved it!

Great views from the Captain's View. Also smooth ride for 1 hour to Nantucket. Easy on and off, with Captain's View you are the first to board into a well air conditioned comfortable area.

These folks are experts at getting people from point a to point b. The remote parking worked out for us at a reasonable price. Customers are quickly boarded. Most of those sitting outside ran for cover as the wind and seaspray picked up. Very enjoyable.

The steamship is a quick way to get across to Nantucket. However pricy. Three teens and two adults was 250.00. For a return
Trip. Staff is very friendy, washrooms clean, food is good (pricy) but you expect that from services like this. It's a quick trip lots of nice people and never had a problem getting a seat. But not always together. Get there early if you want a family table together. Bring cards for the trip!

Excellent way to travel to the Islands. Well organized for our Scout Troop with bikes. Good food on board. Only a 45 minute ride to Oaks Bluff. Left on time and arrived on time. Same with the return trip.

the steamship is a great mode of transport the cheapest form of transport to nantucket , with sl0w boat which carries cars and freight ,2hr trip , also the fast ferry 1 hr trip ,. planning your trip is most important , many islanders and visitors use the boats and reservations are neccessary for traveling with car. the staff are very helpfull and even under stress from weather delays they work hard to satisfy all .

Took the traditional ferry to Nantucket from Hyannis on Dec 4. Signs all over the place to wear masks, social distance. Despite this, ticket counter employees in Hyannis were not masked, neither were a good portion of the passengers on the fully packed ferry. No one made any effort to enforce the rules or even remind people to wear masks. On the way back was just the opposite--rules enforced, people masked.
Get it together guys. You look like a joke right now.

Right from the start things started going south...
1) Bad Info from their phone line...I had been concerned that the fast ferry to Nantucket might be booked..so I called and told them specifically the times we wanted to travel..we were told that advanced ticket purchase was not needed and we could get right on...totally false. When we arrived at the dock we found that everything was booked and there was no hope of getting on....so, no trip.
2) When we first arrived at the off site parking area and asked a driver to verify that we were in the right place the shuttle driver was beyond rude.
3 )..this last part was interesting. .when we found at the dock that we couldn't take the boat trip we had to find a shuttle back to the parking lot...moments after getting on the shuttle the shuttle driver, a different driver, was called aside and fired. Poor guy. But no shuttle ride back for us. Good for him..he took the shuttle bus, blocked traffic to the dock, locked it and left...vengeance can be fun!

Took the high speed ferry to Nantucket to see the lighthouses on the island. The ferry was air conditioned with plenty of seating. Got us to the island in a little over an hour. Enjoyed the freedom of walking around as well as saw several lighthouses along the way to boot. Slower ferry takes about 2.5 hours so you have two options. we took the ferry during the week and they offered a discounted fare as compared to Fri-Sun.

Nice large ferry. Snack bar and nice seating inside and out. $8.75 each way. $15 parking at Palmer st. Make sure you go to a parking area first. Plenty of shuttles.

Good experience onboard this ship to the islands. Head and food service onboard. Generally, runs on a prompt schedule.

At first when we were thinking about going to Nantucket in the middle of summer, I thought we were crazy. I was very surprised at the simplicity of traveling to the island by this ship. We parked at a satellite parking lot, were transported to the docks by a shuttle, then boarded a short time later. They have this down since they deal with thousands of tourists every season. The seating is very comfortable and it only takes about an hour to get there. Bathrooms were very clean with plenty of paper towels and soap. Lots of variety of in the snack bar that many complain is expensive but I found prices what you'd expect for this convenience. The trip home was just as simple as all the shuttles are waiting next to the disembarking area of the ship. Moments later we were back at our car.
***We found out the hard way that many businesses don't take credit cards or checks. I found it hard to believe that such a tourist destination wouldn't allow people to use credit. When we first began shopping I couldn't understand why there are so many ATM cards. I quickly learned. There's only a couple of banks in the downtown area if you difficulty with your debit cards.

It's the little things like being able to use free wifi on an hour-long ferry ride that really makes it a good experience. For my first time, I was totally blown away by the fact they had a cafe cart with alcohol. The view was awesome, the service was quick and zero hassle. I would do this every week if I had to.

In order to get to the islands you either take Cape Air or a Steamship Authority Ferry. I enjoyed the relaxing and reasonable time taking the ferry to the islands. I found the trip to be easy and problem free travel.

Did a day trip to Nantucket with this company. Everything perfectly organised by friendly staff. The trip takes about an hour and is enjoyable. There is a snack bar on board and plenty of inside accommodation and some limited seats outside for the hardy souls. Nice trip to a lovely island.

when my sister lived on the Vineyard, I usually took the steamship authority boat and found it comfortable with snacks and many seating options...a most comfortable "voyage"...

I love taking a trip to both Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The staff is always helpful, informative, and friendly!

If you have a choice, I would always take HiLine instead of the Steamship Authority.
Their boats are nicer and people are friendlier

If you don't have a boat that can go to Mathas Vinyard or Nantucket then the Steamtrip Att. Will get you there by a slow boat or a fast boat. Either is better than swimming .

My wife and I left really early to catch the Ferry from Wood hole to Vineyard Haven. Actually, if you want to travel without an car, which I don't recommend, there is a pick up & drop off & parking lot location in Falmouth. Be on time, as the Ferry leave exactly on time!
The other option, which I recommend is to take your car and get queued up to board the ferry....Suggest you arrive about a half hour before departure, pay your fee while in your car and when it time, the Ferry staff help you move your car in place. Every thing is done orderly and in a safe manner.
Either approach, gets you to Martha's Vineyard in less than 30 mins.
Enjoy!

We took the steam ship authority for a day trip to Nantucket. Ship was very clean and comfortable. Service was good at the snack bar. They were very organized with boarding and we were boarded quickly and left on time.

Wanted to find a good deal on getting over from the mainland Cape to Martha's VIneyard and this was pretty much it. Prices are very reasonable for passengers and vehicles alike. I wish I had tried to make reservations sooner to take my vehicle across as it would have been a bit easier and cheaper to travel around the island. By the time I went to make a reservation for taking my vehicle, it was fully booked for the trip back from the island, so my family ended up going on the ferry as foot passengers.
The only crazy part about leaving your car in parking lot is that it is SO FAR from the ferry itself. The shuttle took over 20 mins to get to the terminal itself from the parking lot. Although, to be fair, there really isn't anywhere to park near the terminal itself.
Ferry is easy on-easy off and lots of seating. Just remember that when you get on the ferry, if it's going to Oak Bluff's, the exit is on the other side to where you get on at Woods Hole and to get to the other exit you have to go upstairs to the upper deck and then back down the other side. Better to do this when you first board so that you're seated near the exit when it arrives as it can get very crowded on the stairwells when passengers disembark

Enjoyed the ride to Martha's Vineyard! Air was a little chilly. Crew were very nice. The ride was smooth and the view was great.

basic transportation to MV, only way to get your car there. walk on's are no problems, reservations for cars are a must long in advance. Trips are always nice if you leave when the sun is setting. Also they now have a bar that you can hit to enjoy a beverage on the ride if you desire.

We took the fast ferry to Nantucket on a $50 round trip weekday special, Reservations were made online the day before and was quick & easy. The boat was full both going and returning, but we were fortunate to get a seat outside on the stern deck both ways. The ride was awesome and only took one hour port to port. Offsite parking was $15 with a shuttle to the terminal. We will make this trip again.

Took this two days, once to Nantucket and the next to Martha's. Took 2 hour cruise to Nantucket as it was cheaper, and port was within walking distance to hotel. Cruise was fine if you have time and don't want to pay for high speed. Cafeteria staff very friendly.
MV ship was much more crowded and run inefficiently. We traveled to woods hole versus boarding in Hyannis as the cost was about 5 times higher from Hy. The downside is driving to woods hole. Traffic was awful, it took us 90 mins to go 25 miles. Then when we arrived we are told there is no parking and we have to drive 10 miles BACK to where we came from for a lot and shuttle bus. Parking cost $15 on top of the ferry ticket. It was a bit of a cluster f***. However once we arrived it was ok and the ferry trip is short.
Returning was much smoother and shuttle ride faster. It does add about 30 mins to your trip each way so plan for that. The ferry will leave on time, even if there is a bus on the way.

reasonable price, less than 10 and you can stay inside or out. wifi and a very smooth trip. all staff was more than helpful

My Wife and I , We Enjoy this Trip Very much.we have been Looking to Take a Cruise in the near future,so this little Trip just Made Us want To go sooner.. It was very smooth And reasonable..

Had a nice ride to/from martha's vineyard on the steamship. Smooth sailing, no complaints. Much cheaper than taking the hy-line. Drive the few extra minutes.

Contact Steamshio Authority if you plan on taking the Ferry to the Vineyard or Nantucket. I was stuck on the Island for two extra days due to high wind gusts in which the Boat cancelled its trips to and from.

We did the one hour ferry to Nantucket. They had free parking which is a good thing around that area.

Lousy, they lost our ticket and charged us $10 to print another one. Customer service was very poor and they take advantage of people. Will not use again.

Have taken their ferries to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket & Boston. Highly recommend. May take a little longer than the high speed service but a lot less money & a very relaxing way to get your destination. Snacks & beverages are sold & seats very comfortable.

We took the SLOW ferry going to Nantucket from Hyannis, and the FAST ferry on the return - the last ferry of the night. -- It was great. Masks were "required" but no one wore them. Things were opening up in mid-July and there was no need for them. -- One suggestion: at the Ticket Counter, there should be more signage for people who are not regular customers. We didn't know where to go to wait for the ferry--had to ask. I don't expect the ticket seller to tell every customer as many are regular or not newbies, but they don't know who is or isn't and should have signage up.

We have always wanted to see Nantucket and wanted to explore the island, so booked a day trip on the car ferry. We were staying in Hyannis, so it was easy to get to the ferry terminal. It is nicely setup and organised on this side, however coming back felt like a free for all, no one in sight to tell you where to wait etc.
The trip takes around two hours, but it goes reasonably quickly (take a book). The ship has a snack bar, toilets and plenty of seats and seemed less full than the one we took to Martha's Vineyard. As the trip is longer the seats inside filled up first.
The round trip with 3 passengers was a staggering $511. This made us double check that we wanted to go, but we figured it took us 26 years to return to Cape Cod, so it could be now or never.
You may want to consider if you need a car on the island. We spent the day looking around the island. For me the town of Nantucket with all the shops and cobbled streets was by far the highlight, with most of the other areas we visited totally barren, so unless you want to lay on the beach, you might be better off just taking the passenger ferry. There is a faster hydrofoil option too. You can even hire bikes or a Jeep, so that could work out cheaper.
We did have a lovely drink in The Wauwinet, but I think even they have a shuttle from the town.
We returned on the 8pm ferry arriving back in Hyannis just after 10pm.
A memorable, but expensive day trip.

They have a M-Th special for $50 roundrip, which is at least 20 less than the other options. Fast boat takes exactly 1 hour dock to dock. Excellent efficiency, nicer staff than Hy-Line. recommend

I've been every so often since I was a child. The food there is overpriced (and it is on the ferry as well) but honestly if you're going to go on a ferry just bring your own snacks, especially if you have kids. It's normally quite clean there, and they have a few TVs for you to watch the news. I've knocked off a star because they are absolutely unhelpful if you've lost something - which, by the way, don't leave anything unattended. We lost a laptop, which was found by a very kind person who brought it to the police, but it could have fallen into the wrong hands. Keep an eye on your kids and an eye on your stuff and you should be fine. As a side note, just keep your luggage with you on the ferry in general. I've never had a problem with letting them take care of it, but it saves you time when you just want to get in your car and go home.

We rode this fast speed ferry to Nantucket. It takes less time to get their. They have food and drinks on the boat.Nice boat. Some people even brought their dogs on it.Good way to get to the island.

We decided to take the fast ferry today which got us to Nantucket in one hour instead of two. There was a Monday-Friday special of $50 round trip. It was an hour and fantastic. So for the first time in 50 years I took the fast ferry.

I originally booked with steamship authority because of their midweek round trip special. The ferry was clean, on time, and embark/debarkation were on time and smooth. I accidentally dropped my keys into a storm drain at the dock in Hyannis 😵 and the crew there went out of their way to help my retrieve them! They certainly made me feel like a valued customer and just showed genuine humanity in that situation. I enjoyed my time on the vessel and on the island. And I will certainly use SA in the future!!

Well coordinated parking and ticketing with plenty of employees to answer questions. Parking per day is $20 and is located directly across the street from the pier. You are allowed to drop off your luggage which is immediately put on covered carts to be rolled onto the ferry! Coming home from Nantucket we were fortunate to ride on the newly commissioned Grey Lady IV. Truly the best way to travel!

The fast ferry to Nantucket is a great way to travel. They are quick, efficient and on time.the boats are clean, quite and pleasant. The seats are comfortable and it is fun to sit on top and get the sun and sea air.better get to the ferry early, it's popular and full. Car reservation are a Must!

We took a rental car over. Be sure to know that they will not drive a rental car on and off the ferry. Also know that they will charger you $35 to drive the car on and $35 to drive it off if you are not going with the car. They didn't tell us that we could drive the car on and save the $35. That wasn't very nice of them to withhold that info.

Due to the hurricane that hit North Carolina, we had to change airports and ultimately missed our fast ferry to Nantucket last week. The shuttle drivers in Hyannis were extremely helpful in getting us on another departure that same afternoon. Upon leaving Nantucket, they also drove us to the parking lot in Hyannis located several blocks from the pier, assisted us in getting our rental car running, and even found the parking pass we had dropped in a restroom. Just some amazing customer support. Thank you!

A good ferry to use to go to Nantucket island and Marthas Vineyard. Nice restaurant inside and clean mens room.

Due to the ferry leaving from wood hole there’s a dire amount of parking, you have to leave your car 15-25 minutes drive away in their big car park, for $15 which includes the shuttle bus to and from the harbour.
The Slow ferry takes 45 minutes is very clean and efficient.
The Time Table not so much, their printed timetable didn’t seem to relate to actual times.
Put 22 technology Park Drive in your sat nav to get there

Take the fast ferry (1 hour to Nantucket). Right off the ferry dock are places you can rent bikes or cars for the day. They say to get to the ferry 1 hour before departure, but this is to allow for distant parking and taking the shuttle. We parked in a lot that was $5.00 more just steps from the dock. If you reserve online and print out your confirmation you have to go into terminal building to get your actual tickets.

curbside luggage service begins a good experience. Online checkin saves time. Boarding is easy though it annoys mysenseof neighborliness when people without bicycles, strollers, children or wheelchairs use that early boarding line. I would call them out but why starts riot . They know who they are.
Seating is very comfortable. Trip is short. Boat is stable.

We went to Martha's Vineyard for the day. The arrival and check was efficient and the ferry was clean and comfortable. Staff members cant do enough to help and are organised and efficient which made boarding and disembarking quick.

friendly staff. this is a great option when driving to martha's vineyard and nantucket. changed time from the schedule and staff was very accommodating.

The fast ferry is the only way to go to Nantucket, unless you need to take your car. It was only an hour each way, the vessel has a snack bar on board, multiple restrooms, and nice comfortable seating.

The Steamship Authority is a great ferry service to take to see Martha's Vineyard we enjoyed the ride.

Staff are friendly and do a good job of getting you dock to dock on time. They consider safety a priority. Can get a snack on the trip. I prefer the fast ferry but the traditional is a less expensive option, or required if bringing a vehicle. Price is steep but less expensive than flying to the islands.

We took this ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket round trip, which was $138 for my daughter and me. We arrived in Hyannis by bus from Provincetown and weren't sure what to do when we arrived at the bus depot, but their customer service directed us to the Steamship Authority phone, which alerted them to send a driver to pick us up. The van came quickly and we were able to board a ferry immediately.
Luggage was stored for us, which was a nice surprise. They are very organized and efficient. The ferry was very nice and large with comfortable seating, outlets, and wifi. The ride was super smooth.
Our hotel, the Nantucket Inn, has a van at every Steamship Authority arrival, so we had no issues upon arrival. Our hotel also took us back to the ferry for our return trip.

Good value but poor organisation on boarding. Became a free for all at times. If they had clear defined queue lines then that would help.

Great transportation to the islands..... Nantucket or Marta's vineyard with options of bringing on your bicycle.

We took the fast ferry to Nantucket...we went on a Thursday so we were able to get a discounted. Rate.

if your looking to hop the island steamship is the way to go. Steamship has both a fast ferry and slow ferry, both have plenty of seating

The kids have a blast and the trips always go without a hitch. The trips are simple and mnost of the planning is spent on what to do on Islands.

We took the Steamship Authority fast ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket - our first time going to Nantucket and our first time on this ferry. We picked up our reserved tickets at the ticket office which is a nice pleasant waiting room on School Street. We got there 45 minutes ahead of boarding time because we did not want to board at the end of a long line. After sitting for 10 minutes I asked the ticketing agent if there would be an announcement about boarding. She said "no". I asked where to go and she directed us to go outside where we would see a line waiting to board. We exited and there was a long line about a block away (Pleasant Street instead of School Street) so we were toward the last 25% to board. That again happened to us on the return trip because we were in the Whaling Museum and arrived barely 30 minutes before boarding - unfortunately, the return trip was almost fully booked and we almost did not get 2 seats together. The seats we got were apparently almost never used because the headrests and seats were very dusty - I wiped them off with cleaning wipes and I am happy I did.
Also, our ride outbound and inbound was much rockier than our fast ferry to MV on the Hy Line - I attribute that to the water itself.

We took ferry from Woods Hole to Oak Blufs. Carried our SUV & 7 family. Sat on deck and enjoyed the scenery. Reservation went perfect both ways. Great experience

Quick trip to Martha’s Vineyard, only problem parking had to back track to another parking lot, then took bus $14.00 to park

At suggestion of tour guide on Nantucket, we used the SA ferry rather than the Highline $20 cheaper for the same ride!!! Inside seats, snack bar and TV made it great. Thanks, Ara!

Parking is FAR AWAY but the trip over and back was very pleasant. Good on board food service and got to watch the football game on my way back.

I enjoyed my trip to Nantucket with the Steamship Authority. It was a comfortable quick ride. Very little movement for all the wind that was blowing.
Tv to watch or new friends to discover.
Bonus, they were offering a special for September for 19 off.
Very Good.

We went on the harbor cruise as we had a free afternoon and the weather was not cooperating for the beach. The cruise was basic but informative and the student guide was quite good. I enjoyed this very much.

We took the fast ferry to Nantucket. It was easy to get to and purchase tickets. There were lots of departure times and it was a great ride out to the island. The prices were more reasonable than the Hyline too! The money we saved on our tickets paid for a tour on the island.

The high speed ferry Iyannough is terrific to get from Hyannis to Nantucket. Clean, Comfortable with food and wifi and power ports. What more could you want ? Oh and mid week they have a special $50 deal round trip if you are coming and going the same day.

We usually take the Hy-Line fast ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket; this time, we took the Steamship Authority, and there was no comparison between the two. Starting with parking, which is less convenient, to loading luggage (they ran out of luggage carts so we had to wait in a several hundred yards long line snaking around the parking lot until they unloaded all the luggage from the incoming ferry), to being chronically late, this is a truly terrible travel experience. Hy-Line is better in every respect.
And good luck getting through if you need help on the phone; it requires many attempts to get past the busy signal, then a long wait on hold.

Only game in town so you have no choice.Wish they would allow competition. Fees are reasonable and ride is good.

If you want to get to Martha's Vineyard with a car from Hyannis Port or surrounding areas, this is your best option..only option for us in May. We only had 2 complaints; first one was the port staff lady who directed us to the lane in which to park our car while we waited for the ferry to arrive and board, put us in the wrong lane so we didn't disembark at the correct harbor! (We had questioned her twice, which irritated her, but since the island is small, it was only a minor inconvenience.) Also, there were quite a few new staff training for summer and the 2 in the cafeteria area messed up our order twice and 3 others we saw as well. Again, not a big deal; just not enough training and supervision. All in all, it's just a quick ferry ride, so we'd still highly recommend the company.

Scenic ride out the Nantucket , fantastic day. Ferry serves cocktails. We had a nice ride. The staffis friendly and informative.

My colleague and I had a break in the project and wanted to visit Nantucket. We check the options and hotel advice. The hotel nudged us toward the Steamship Authority offered us a free shuttle to and from. The authority has two types of service the Fast Boat and the Big Boat. The Big Boat is also the ferry for large trucks, cars, and bicycles. The Big Boat is half the price of the Fast Boat. It takes 45 minutes longer but it is half price. $37 round trip. Tickets are open so take the return boat that fits your schedule. Enjoy the ride. We found the loading and unloading of eight big rigs and about 50 passenger vehicles quite a sight. Bicycles add $14 to your round trip fare. The boat has two levels of outside seating and abundant indoor seating much like an aircraft. There is also a decent snack bar. Really beautiful views going out of Hyannis and entering Nantucket. At the wharf in Nantucket there a several bike rental shops with all manner of bikes and motor bikes. The motor bikes are $150 per day so if that is how you roll take the early ferry and get your money's worth.

This company does not have it's act together. Their on time record is terriable. This summer there have been so may ferry cancellations for almost every imaginable reason. Last year they put a high-speed ferry up on the rocks in Hyannis Port. Take the Hy Line boats out of Hyannis

Nice slow trip to Nantucket nothing too exciting. Very reasonable if you take the slower ferry you still have tons of time to spend in nantucket

We planned to take 9.30am trip to martha's vineyard and reached the spot at 9.05am. Being a visitor, we did not know anything about this. As soon as we enetred, the gentleman asked if we were taking our car, we replied know and asked for parking, he handed over a paper with instructions to park approx 25 min away. we had to go far and park, got to the shuttle and by the time we reached we had missed our ferry. So Other than that, it was a very nice experience and they maintain time so keep your schedule right.disclaimer is IF YOU PLAN TO PARK, PLEASE SWITCH ON THE RADIO OF YOUR CAR CHANNEL 1610AM which gives to latest update on the parking availability and lot info. We boarded the ship, it was clean and smooth ride. They offer food at a very high price so try to have your own food or be ready to shell out hefty amount for snacks.

In early/mid May we travelled to and from MV. Those in the office were helpful, as were staff involved in loading the ferry. On our return from MV, we arrived quite some time before our booked very and staff very efficiently got us on an earlier ferry. Everything ran to time. The ferries were clean and tidy. Could not have gone better.

My boyfriend and I were going to Nantucket for the day. We decided to take the Steamship because it was only an hour travel time and $50 (pp) Well worth it! Skip the ferry

They need to add cover while you are waiting for the boat to arrive. You are herded like cattle and must wait in the baking sun. Totally unreasonable based on what they are charging.

The boat is clean and a nice ride. It has a bar and takes just under an hour but feels like it's much faster. The staff is very nice and luggage is easy to load.

It was going to be a beautiful day in December so we decided at the last minute to take the ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket for the day. The terminal is conveniently located in downtown Hyannis and there are plenty of signs around to point you to the right location. Most of the parking lots right at the terminal are full so plan on parking at one of their remote lots. They have a free shuttle that runs all day long so where ever you do park you won't have to walk to get to the ship. In the terminal there are restrooms and a coffee shop and car rental booths are also there. The walkway to the ship is is accessible. I would imagine that if this were the summer the place would be packed. as it was December there weren't many of us getting on. The ferry runs throughout the day and it takes a little more than two hours to get to Nantucket. The right is scenic going out of the harbor and of course the ocean is always beautiful.
The ferry we were on was the car ferry which also transports large tractor trailer trucks so it is huge.
The seating area is on the top of the ship and there is an elevator for hose who don't do stairs. Restrooms and a snack bar are also on that level. There is also a great team of people who work on the ship and can help you ot should any problems with seasickness arise. Remember you are on the ocean and they do have waves. The ship docks in Nantucket right near all the shops and the restaurants. There are also tour companies who will take you around the island along with taxi cabs that will take you to your lodgings. or you can just walk. We had looked in the guide books to see if any tour companies would be working and read that they were all closed. Unfortunately this was an error as some were still open and we missed out on taking the island tour. Still we had lots of fun strolling the cobblestone streets and popping in and out of the shops that were still open. We had a late lunch early dinner at the Rose and Crown and then strolled back to the terminal to get the late afternoon ferry back to Hyannis. This is a great way to spend any day on the Cape, an ocean cruise, a stroll around a beautiful town and a great meal at a great restaurant. priceless.

We were worried we were going to miss the ferry we had planned due to the traffic heading into Falmouth but luckily we made it with a few minutes to spare.
Car parking was very busy, even arriving before 8am, but we managed to get parked ok and the guys in charge of this were great and helpful.
The bus service to Woods Hole was well organised. We managed to get tickets straight away and hop right on the ferry. Loved the fact that they let people on with their dogs too! We don't see so much of that in England.
The ferry was clean and the services on board were just enough. It was a pleasant trip over to Martha's Vineyard. I will definitely be using the Steamship Authority service if we ever come back.

Took their high speed ferry to Nantucket. It was a very large ship, had snacks and drinks, alcohol too, available for purchase. The trip was fast, about 1 hour and very smooth. The seats are very comfortable. Staff is friendly.

It was a pleasant ride to Nantucket. A bit expensive but the view was nice.kljfdjklfdsjklfdsjklfdsjklfsdkjlfds

Great ride accross to Martha's Vineyard. Quick clean service with newer seats and service. Air conditioning was more effective on the upper deck, a littel warm below.
We went to and from Martha's on the same day. booking was fast and easily done with a knowledgeable agent the day before.
Boarding and disembarking was quick and well organized.

The Steamship authority has a handle on it's travelers, and exercises great care and judgment on-boarding vehicles and exiting vehicles at either destination.

We took a morning cruise to Nantucket with the Steamship Authority. It was a speed ferry and got us there in about an hour. The ride is smooth and scenic. We found the crew to be friendly and helpful. There is a snack bar on the ship for those who want to eat or drink on the way over. Disappointed that they charge $20 to park your car, on top of the cost of the cruise.

I took the car ferry to Nantucket Island. The staff seemed very efficient and things went smoothly. The ferry has reasonably comfortable seating with tables at the Windows. It was a little chilly even inside, I traveled in February and would advise dressing warmly even for interior travel. The ride is a couple of hours, bring a book or something to entertain yourself. There is free wifi on board, it worked for surfing the Internet but not for online gaming with my iPad.

Pretty choppy ride was made less so by the sheer size of the vessel. Nice staff and farily on time even during a storm.

Conveniently tickets are available online and even save a little. The ferry is spacious and seating is pretty comfortable. Looking ahead, seats face each other and there are tables in-between, some seats without tables seats and a few off the back of the ship. All enclosed with A/C, the ride went very fast for nearly an hour's distance. There is a refreshment bar on board.

Had a nice 2 hour trip to and from Nantucket, while taking our car (a little pricey), but ferries were on time and the trips were nice and relaxing.

I don't take the ferry to/from #Hyannis\#Nantucket that often, but when I do I'm reminded how incompetent the Steamship Authority is. From ticketing to boarding to buying food these guys can do absolutely nothing right or efficient. They would not survive in a free market environment. If you can afford to fly...do it!

Got a great ride for 3$ from the dock to home using SmartDart App with the local bus company!!! Great, comfortable, inexpensive ride home!!

We road this ferry over to Martha Vineyard. The sailing was very smooth sailing about 45 minutes. We traveled with our Motor Coach Bus.

Lovely ferry! We enjoyed our ride very much...except when we missed the last ferry from Oak Bluffs. Fun! (Triple check the schedule)

Have used the Fast Ferry for numerous trips to Nantucket. Always a great experience. You can enjoy the boat ride or simply sit and read for the full trip.

Had made reservations a month earlier to our trip. This was done on line, very easy. Had made a mistake, called and they looked after right away with no problems or added costs. Ship was on time and had smooth sailing. Staff were courteous and friendly. Short trip but beautiful sites.
"Fast or Slow You can't loose
Steamship offers both Fast Ferry (passengers only) and Traditional (all types of vehicles, bikes and passengers) with twice as long a ride. But somehow the cruise is very enjoyable riding along Nantucket Sound on the way to the charming Nantucket Island. If you want a nice relaxing day take the slower boat and stroll around Nantucket town enjoying the sights and old buildings of this old whaling port.
