On a recent road trip through Arkansas, my wife and I made a stop here to see the chapel. It's easy to fine using GPS.

The chapel is a short walk back into the woods, a very tranquil and peaceful location. I can only imagine what the Sunday services must be like there. Definitely a must-see when visiting the Eureka Springs area.

We're not even a little religious and we loved this chapel. The construction is incredible. Definitely worth a stop.

This place is beautiful. I would not advise making a special trip just to see the chapel, but if you are in the area it's worth seeing in person. We were allowed to come sit inside the chapel and take pictures. It would be really neat to attend a service here. We didn't stay long since there really isn't anything to do other than see the chapel.

A definite must see. We had a unique, beautiful, and peaceful visit. The chapel looked like it was an outdoor chapel , but it had glass all around. The outdoors could be seen as you sit on the pews.

We stopped in as we headed home after being in Eureka Springs for the day. They were getting ready to close but allowed us to peek in before closing the gates. Absolutely stunning!!!

We visited the chapel for a brief time and were moved by how startlingly beautiful the chapel and its surroundings are. A sense of peace settles around you as you are in the chapel surrounded by trees with color-changing leaves. Do stop here if you are in the area. You will be glad you did.

We went to the Sunday morning service and it was great. Just about an hour with nice music and good preaching and some history as well.
Definitely worth going for a service in addition to stopping and seeing the amazing architecture that opens up to nature so beautifully.

Thorncrown Chapel is a MUST SEE in Eureka Springs. The serene feeling inside the chapel is surreal! Beautiful views and plenty of parking. We brought our dog and took turns going inside. Free to go inside but they take donations. You can also get married there...stunning!

We visited on a Sunday morning when a religious service was scheduled. A talented man played the piano and sang hymns. The preacher was the son of the couple who built the chapel. Service was non-denominational and very uplifting. The chapel itself is a gem designed by Mr. Fay Jones who studied for years with Frank Lloyd Wright. We were there on a beautiful, sunny day and the place was so lovely. There is no entrance charge, but a donation box. Free parking.

Beautiful architecture in a peaceful setting. Quiet inside Clean and well kept. Plenty of room to park. Second time visiting, will visit again.

This was such an awe inspiring experience. The chapel was so beautiful and solemn. You could just feel the presence of our Father in Heaven. Beautiful Architecture.

We were intrigued by Thorncrown Chapel, so we decided to visit; and we were glad we did. It's located in a beautiful setting, surrounded by trees. The trees were in full fall color when we visited, and it was breathtaking. We loved that we could enter the chapel and just sit there. Very peaceful and serene, and just what we needed that day. The architecture is stunning. I would love to visit again in warmer weather closer to dusk - I think it would again be amazing.

Worth a stop if you are in Eureka Springs - absolutely beautiful! We stopped on Sunday on our way out of town, since it had been closed for a wedding on Saturday.

Heard about this place from a friend. We are so glad we visited. The chapel is in a beautiful setting and is an architectural wonder. The quiet solitude this chapel offers is a refreshing escape from the rest of the world.

My Nephew had his weeding here this pass weekend. We had about 50+ there. This was a great location for the service. You need to come here just to see how beautiful this place really is.

For anyone visiting Eureka Springs, this is a must do tourist attraction. We visited the first week of Oct '22 when the fall foliage was just beginning to appear. It is such a beautiful & tranquil setting in the woods. Don't miss it.

This chapel is absolutely gorgeous. There is not much else to see but you can sit and reflect for a while.

My husband and I rode our motorcycles from Boswell Indiana and stayed in Eureka Springs went and checked out this little chapel and it is by far more beautiful in person. So much to see and do in Eureka Springs.

this place is a MUST see. i found it to be very beautiful and relaxing. I would recommend getting there early. the afternoon can get crowed.

My husband and I went to the 9 AM Easter Service and it was so well done. We thought that the place would be packed so arrived about 30 minutes early. While waiting for the gate to open, an incredibly kind man who was walking his dog came to each car and said that the gate would open in a few minutes. That person turned out to be the worship leader! The message delivered by Rev. Reed was very uplifting and the music was great. The building is beautiful and truly a place of worship. We were planning to just stop by the night before for a quick glimpse but it was closed for a wedding. I'm so glad that it was! Take in a service if you can as this will give you better insight as to why the church was built.

Absolutely worth the short walk to the Chapel. It's an amazing piece of architecture. The trees prevent getting an unobstructed picture in the summer if you are only going to photograph. The inside is peaceful & beautiful as expected.

This is an easy stop, and doesn't take very long. We hadn't been in years and we're surprised to see an additional church with actual services.

We were out on a drive and this is a place I had on my list to visit. I was not disappointed! Very beautiful and serene place right in the middle of nature. They have church services there on Sunday mornings. Worth the stop!

Service times are 9 and 11 am on Sunday. Architecture is amazingly beautiful. The space feels outside even though you are inside.

I've now been here twice and will go every time I go to Eureka Springs. Last year it was for a wedding, this year we attended service.

This is a beautiful place to visit. It was peaceful a d serene. Just lovely. You can sit and listen to the inspirational music being played lightly in the background.

Visited for the third time. Just a lovely, peaceful spot. The church building itself is breathtaking...and to go inside and spend some quiet time, time in prayer is just so very peaceful. We were there a couple years ago and the nice lady working allowed me to play the piano...they don't do that often. I was allowed to play again this past week while we were visiting. I'm average at best, but I just love playing for the Lord. You've gotta visit Thorncrown if you're remotely close to it...and last time we did attend a public worship service, it was great! A wonderful place to visit, you will be truly blessed. Please...leave a donation.

It’s just outside the city and well worth the time to run out and see the amazing architecture of this place.
It is breathtaking.

Fun, quick stop to see the chapel. It was raining the day we were there and we still enjoyed it. Pretty spot for pictures.

Try and avoid Sundays around 9-12 parking is atrocious since this is when church services are held. There were several campers parked there taking up many spaces making it difficult to find spot to park. This is a trolley stop if you want to see it that way

This is a beautiful place. Definitely worth a stop. Just a short visit, but it is truly a gem hidden in the woods. Very scenic surroundings as well.

You walk in and there are pews on both sides.
You can sit for a long as feel like.

There is a small walk up and the chapel itself has someone at the front left door (inside) who handed us information and invited us in. There is a small box to accept donations and they do offer a short service, which we did not get to see on this trip.

This stunningly simple and simply stunning chapel is a must-visit when you are in the area. There is no admission fee, though donations are gratefully accepted. The beauty of the surrounding woods is the only decoration, and it is breathtaking. There is ample free parking. Whether you stay for a few minutes or come for a service, it will be time well spent. The architect was a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, and the Wright influence is clear. The road to get here is occasionally steep and curvy.

This is a beautiful church and certainly worth adding to your trip. you will feel a sense of peace and have the opportunity to sit and reflect and certainly pray!

It is only 1 1/2 mile west of Eureka Springs, AR and this is a FREE must-see item on anyone's travel list for this area! Such a serene area for special photo souvenirs

Absolutely breathtaking! We eloped and had our ceremony here. It was magical. The fall foliage was beautiful. Eureka Springs is a quirky and adorable little town. We will be back!

We spent some quiet time at the Thorncrown Chapel, and enjoyed every minute of it. The story of the Chapel is lovely. The feeling inside the chapel is so serene and beautiful, I didn't want to leave. Such a beautiful place.

Very pretty church. One of a kind. The large glass walls make you forget you are in a building. Free and easy to walk to and drive to. People were nice there. We also opened tailgate and had a nice picnic on far side of parking lot in the shade.

When you park and walk to this little chapel in the wood you do not expect to see such awesomeness. I felt so at peace when I sat down and looked around at such a beautiful sight. The chapel is made of glass and the scenery is so peaceful. I would definitely recommend.

Went here on a Saturday morning.This is a beautiful chapel. Reminds me of the Anthony chapel in Garvan Woodland Gardens. There was soft music playing, a lady handing out programs when you walked in. She said to take pictures at your seat. No fee.

A wedding had just taken place. Two guests, (daughters) so we proceeded up the drive, although the sign said Closed. The newlyweds were quite friendly as well as the preacher who happened to be a son of the builder of Thorncrown.

A quick stop before getting into town. We had friends from Texas with us and thought they didn’t to see this. It’s a beautiful setting for sure.

Very beautiful Chapel. We didn't go in because they do ask for a donation when entering in order to help with costs. Unfortunately, we didn't have any cash on us so we just admired from the outside. It's surrounded by trees and shaded.

I could literally sigh a breath of relief and fill my lungs with pure woods air. The Chapel boasts only one other interesting building when you first walk in the short path to the Chalel but the beauty and wonder of that church is plenty. It was a place after my photographers heart inside and out.

When you go inside they ask you respect each other by sitting down to take photos if others are there. They have a few quality items you can purchase as a donation to help maintain Thorncrown Chapel or just donate or not.

It makes a nice coupling to see with the glass chapel at Garvan Gardens in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Excellent way to Siena limited time in Eureka. If one has limited time visiting the chapel is a must. The architecture is amazing.

We were only able to enjoy the exterior view, as there was a wedding going on at the time of our visit. Even still, very lovely!

The story on how the chapel came to be was a journey of love & faith for Jim Reed. I was in awe when I saw it. I was more in awe when I stepped inside. You are welcomed to sit & experience the beauty of this sanctuary. And you truly feel like you’re outside. It’s an experience I will never forget. Definitely a must see!

As others on this site have mentioned, the staff at Thorncrown Chapel is not very pleasant. I visited Eureka Springs for 4 days in December around the Christmas holiday. Although the chapel website does provide the hours they chapel is open, this does not actually help the visitor wishing to photograph the chapel and admire its architecture. The first 3 days I visited, the chapel was always closed. Not for the Christmas holiday, but because there was a wedding taking place. There is ALWAYS a wedding taking place. I would not be surprised if they did not perform 5-10 weddings a day there as often as it was closest. There was a wedding even on Christmas Day. Who gets married on Christmas? The gate was finally open on my last day there and I was able to drive to the start of the path to the chapel, but lo and behold, there was yet another wedding being performed. The wedding coordinator for the chapel hastily walked toward us and told us we were trespassing and had to leave. So friendly of her. Other reviews on here mention this vile harpy. I managed to take one photograph from afar as I had no intention of disturbing the wedding party despite what the harpy may have thought. If the chapel posted the times it would be closed to visitors due to weddings, it would help visitors plan better, however if they actually did that, it would become obvious that the chapel is almost never available to simply admire because there is always a wedding being performed. Save yourself the trouble, view the chapel online and avoid the headache from the rude staff.

This is a uniquely beautiful church that I think would be inspirational as the sun is rising to hear the word of God. I wish they would have had some soft music playing when we visited.

I've been meaning to get here for a few decades. So glad I finally did. The simplicity in the design is the magic. My only recommendation - if possible, find out ahead of time if the chapel will be closed the day you plan to be there.

This chapel is located in a pretty area. The chapel is just a short walk from the parking area. There is no cost to visit, but they do request donations via a box on your way out. Bibles are available and we were invited to sit for a few minutes to enjoy the views.

I've had the Thorncrown Chapel on my 'want to see place' for awhile! It was a lovely, peaceful place. The pamphlet given out from inside was very informative!

We always like to visit Thorncrown Chapel when we are in Eureka Springs. Every time. Always enjoy the beauty and serenity. This visit I reviewed the history of the chapel. Fascinating how the man wanted to build the chapel and all of the obstacles he had to overcome for his dream.

One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I had to take my hat off when I walked in side to make sure I was giving the atmosphere the adequate respect it deserved.

This was a beautiful structure in the middle of the woods. It was peaceful, but most of all it was amazing sitting in the chapel. You really think you are outside, but your not. Everyone should experience the beauty and peace of this area. Just take a minute to stop, you won't be disappointed.

A beautifully designed yet simple place to just admire and have some short quiet reflection time. And with it being free of charge (donations suggested), it really is a must see. I can only imagine what the Sunday worship services held there are like.

If you are planning on a trip to see this. Don't be disappointed if you can't get in. It is a flip of a coin to get in, especially in spring, summer and fall. There are alot of weddings, but you may get lucky. It is nice if you get in.

We went on a Sunday morning and they were having service. We stood outside and took some pics of the beautiful building and the enjoyed the quiet serenity of the surrounding woods.

Simple, but a perfect place to connect with God. Nature is seen as you sit at a pew, for as long as you wish. Open to the public, unless a wedding is scheduled. There are still two services given here on each Sunday. Beautiful place to enjoy the Lord's natural beauty.

We had originally planned to go visit, but last minute change of plans we ended up going for Sunday Morning service and so glad we did. If we had just gone for a few minutes to look around, would have miss so much. Sitting there for the service and really taking it all in was much ore of a blessing than I expected. It is very casual for service so not to worry about what you wear. Would go again if in the area

Beautiful chapel by E Fay Jones. If you’re a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright you will have to visit this place! It’s easy to find with good parking.

My son and his beautiful bride were lucky enough to be married in this church. Absolutely stunning inside and outside. The architect E. Fay Jones is an Arkansas graduate, studying under Frank Lloyd Wright, which I can totally see. Serene, peaceful , and joyous light reflecting off of angles.

This is certainly a site to behold. We would encourage everyone to take time to see this beautiful chapel!

While Thorncrown Chapel is intended with Christian worship in mind, there’s little At this chapel that is specifically Christian aside from cross motifs in the support pillars. I only realized this when told they were there, because the impact of the Chapel is in its harmony with nature, a structure that blends in so well with its surroundings that it’s hard to tell whether you are really inside while you are visiting. This integration evokes Frank Lloyd Wright, but everything else about it feels unique. It’s a special place for contemplation, though this can be challenging amidst very heavy tourist traffic through a pretty small space (the Chapel could only seat about 100 people). It doesn’t take long to visit and it’s on the way too and from Eureka Springs and is a must-see site.

A beautiful chapel anytime of the year. Nestled in the woods just outside of Eureka Springs, this is as wonderful today as it was almost 30 year ago when we were married there. A must see when in the area.

This is an awe inspiring experience. We visited in the middle of the day in early fall. It was a beautiful day but on the warmer side. I asked the attendant her favorite time to be in the chapel. She told me “in the fall when the leaves are changing is beautiful but my true favorite is when a storm is coming. The sky is dark, lighting up the inside of the chapel. The wind is blowing and the trees are being tossed around. You can feel God’s hedge of protection. It is a peaceful and beautiful place to be.”

So uniquely representative of nature and faith. Settled in the mountain terrain of Eureka Springs, one may sit in the congregational seats, peer out the surrounding windows, enjoy the silent visitation of others, and meditate on the religious significance of the peace, beauty, and quiet witness of the area. This is a very nice local offering of a spiritually uplifting, comfortable, welcoming, and calming gift to those travelers who want to take something lasting away from their visit.

I appreciate the hosting church providing a cost-free, extra-special and unique treasure to travelers seeking memories from a truly special place.

I was able to sit inside this beautiful church. It seems to put you into a trans with all of it's beauty. It looks as if there is no glass and you can reach out and touch the grass. We had a group of 22 visit and it was well worth it.
Love the history behind it and so thankful that he was able to complete this for us to experience.

Our family was visiting Eureka Springs over a Sunday so we chose to worship at the Thorncrown Chapel. It was a nice place to worship and the message encouraged our family in our faith in God.

View the splendor of the natural scape - and right now all the dogwoods and redbuds are in full bloom so it is really lovely.

It’s difficult to find the words for this treasure. It was truly amazing to walk down the path with the sun glistening through the trees reflecting off the glass. Inside, sitting on the pew, was truly an experience I will never forget. Don’t forget to drop a donation in the box on your way out.

Just go. The structure is beautiful. The setting is peaceful. The only challenge is that if there is a wedding, it will be closed to visitors. That's what happened during our first attempt. I'm glad we returned the following day.

The chapel is located in a lovely setting, surrounding by trees and far enough off the highway to avoid traffic noise. The entrance on the highway is well marked so it was easy to find. The story behind the location and building of the chapel was interesting. The music was lovely. Not sure how to convey the sense of peace and calm that surrounds a person when they enter the building. Free of charge though they do ask for donations as that is the only means of support for the chapel. Lovely site to visit.

Has a parking free area, Just a short walk to see it . You can go inside. We went inside and sat down, I could feel God presents there, and I said a short prayer. They have webbing there.

Such a beautiful and amazing place to worship God. The music was wonderful, the Sermon was great, and the building itself was incredible.

This chapel is World Class and is a must-see if you are anywhere within 100 miles. Give yourself time to sit and breathe, even pick up a Bible from a window ledge and read the Psalms for awhile to get the full effect of natural beauty and indoor comfort at the same time. The soaring award-winning architecture lifts your gaze and your spirit to the heavens. This glass-walled chapel is famous for a reason. Services are held at 11 a.m. on Sundays year-round and open to the public. In December when we were there, the distant hilltops were in view. We have also enjoyed its near-twin chapel in Hot Springs at the Garvan Woodland Gardens. It may exceed Thorncrown in some of the smaller details but trades the hilltop views for lovely forest views. Both are don't-miss venues. My husband has had one of them as his lock screen on his phone for months now - it's that wonderful.

This is a great experience to see this chapel. They do have a 20 minute review of the chapel. You might want to call ahead of time to make sure that something is not already planned. I real beautiful stop when you go to Eureka Springs.

The only place I wanted to visit in Eureka Springs so it was our first stop. It did not disappoint. Look for the church to the left on your way across the parking lot towards the chapel.

This is beautiful chapel to visit, and is in a lovely setting. We had visited here many years ago, but recently attended a wedding there. The wedding ceremony was beautiful, and we had such a gorgeous view of the trees outside all during the wedding.

I have waited for 10 years to be able to experience and photograph this beautiful one of a kind chapel and was certainly not disappointed. Not only is the structure itself incredible visually but the presence that is felt there is really incredible.

We went to Sunday service on Labor Day weekend. It was the highlight of our trip. The music was amazing and the story of the church and the son preaching is carrying on the Dad’s vision and dream is such a heartwarming story!

5-star architecture designed by Fay Jones (who the architecture school at U-Arkansas is named for). When sitting inside, it truly looks like you can walk out the back - right into the mountains - yet it is really just clear glass.

Good place for a 10-minute stop to take it in and read the background. No trails around to see from different angles. Not someplace you'd go for a long time, unless you're into praying or meditating for a while there.

We got married here 21 years ago. Love this place! It's as beautiful as ever! We always stop in for a few minutes on all of our trips to Eureka Springs.

We attended the Sunday morning service at 11am, and we enjoyed it immensely. Pastor Reed did an amazing exegesis of Matthew 5 that was both theologically rich and immediately practical. The chapel is beautiful, and it was so much fun to worship there!

My wife and I recently stopped in here. It had been many, many years since we last visited. The architecture is somewhat simple, but amazing. And the setting is very peaceful. There is no "tour guide:, but there is someone present that hands you information about the history, etc. The man present on our visit also answered questions that others had. We enjoyed just sitting for a few minutes and soaking it all in. Very peaceful and relaxing.

We took a side trip on a whim and found this incredible place!!! The chapel is a place of peace, nourishment, joy, praise and worship, nestled in the Creator’s woods. The open space that touches the woods, combined with the music and the message of God’s grace were immeasurable. I have been longing for an outdoor place to worship and pray, to find Christ in the creation, and this was a shear blessing! Thank you for welcoming people to worship in such a special place. One of the most serene and beautiful places I have been to. A short walk from the parking lot along a paved path. Huge heavy doors open to this glass beauty. We took a seat and sat quietly, taking in the architecture and snapping pictures as we did so. It was busy at the time, so we waited and then were able to take some unobstructed photos of the front of the church. Take note that just because they have open hours doesn't mean there isn't a wedding scheduled. A wedding party was gathering as we left.

The chapel was the dream of Jim Reed and designed by architect E. Fay Jones, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright. It was opened on July 10, 1980. It is 48 feet tall, is a wooden structure with 425 windows and over 6000 sq. ft. of glass.

Beautiful and peaceful. The chapel is a very short drive off the road with plenty of parking. People can sit in there as long as they like. The air conditioning was great, which we found refreshing after a hike. Plus, you can't beat free! They do take donations.

The crisscrossed wooden frame reminds visitors of the crown of thorns Jesus wore, and the clear glass walls revealing the green woods create a special sense of connection with God. This is a perfect stop for prayer and reflection, and perhaps a short bible study. Each window had a bible available for the visitors. The story behind this chapel is very interesting.

The Thorncrown Chapel is magnificent, whether you are visiting for the award winning architecture, or as a follower of Christ. Upon entering the doors you step into tranquility. The chapel is surrounded by all natural growth, but it seems that it grew from the vegetation. I keep thinking the word peaceful. It is the perfect site from the bustling business of the town.

We love Thorncrown chapel !! It is so peaceful there. I can definitely feel the lord’s presence there. I get an inner peace every time I visit there. I just wish that Eureka Springs hadn’t turned into what it has. It is such a shame. We love Thorncrown and The Great Passion play, but sadly won’t be returning to Eureka Springs.

Must see! Take grandma and grandpa and kids or just go as a couple. It’s breathtaking. Easy to find right near town. Parking is plentiful and it’s just a short brick-paved walk from the car to the chapel.

Really glad we went and stayed for the 11 service. The service was a bit different than usual, sang songs most of the service. Everyone singing were amazing and enjoyable. This is an absolutely beautiful chapel in a very serene setting. The brochure offered was thorough in telling the story about how it came to be. If you are in the area, it is well worth going to see, but I'm not sure it was worth the drive from Branson all by itself. If we had had the whole day to walk around town, it would have been worth it, but we had a commitment to get back to Branson.

A few years ago we visited the similar chapel in Hot Springs, so we wanted to see this one as well. It is very peaceful and beautiful. The lady who greeted us was very kind and welcoming. Architecture is beyond words. It's a wonderful place to stop and check out while in the area. A marvel.

Thorncrown Chapel is very similar in design to Anthony Chapel near Hot Springs and Cooper Chapel in Bella Vista. The treee glass chapels of Arkansas. The design is what their architect E. Fay Jones liked to call Ozark Gothic.
There is such peace in the glass allowing the surrounding trees to become part of the atmosphere within. A place of peace, prayer and contemplation.
The light and shadows from trees come through the glass walls to create a dance in the sanctuary. The wooden beams, with small subtle crosses, stretch high into the tree canopy.
Short paved walk from the parking lot. Donations but no entrance fee. Short drive from Eureka Springs.
Access may be limited by a church service or wedding.

Great building secluded in the wooded mountainside! Even though we visited during spring break, it was uncomfortably hot inside. This is due to the building is nearly totally made of glass. Also the reason you shouldn’t pass up checking it out!

What an absolute amazing find! We were looking to fill a couple hours before going back to our rental home and this caught our attention. Our group was awestruck by the absolute beauty and peace of this chapel. I haven’t ever found anything quite like this before. This is a true treasure you need to experience if in the area.

This is a beautiful chapel to visit. It's only open limited hours so make sure you find out the times. It's free to go inside but we left a donation. The architecture is amazing. Takes about 15 minutes.

Thorncrown Chapel popped up as one of the top attractions when I first researched our trip to Eureka Springs. Right after lunch upon arriving on Thursday, we drove out to the chapel.

It's barely a 15 minute drive from downtown (or Oscar's Cafe more precisely) but Google Maps got confused at the end. When you see a big, dark blue sign pointing "Thorncrown Chapel -->" then turn and go up that hill, whatever Google says. There was plenty of parking and maybe a dozen people visiting the site just after 2pm.

You are asked to wear a mask upon entering and there is signage on site. Everything is free to visit, but they have professional photo cards available to purchase and accept donations. A docent was sitting by the door to answer questions.

This is a stunning and beautiful work of architecture. Entirely privately funded and designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. Just take a few minutes to gaze through the crystal clear windows. Even outside the trees are chattering with birds, but otherwise quiet. They do hold Sunday services and many weddings.

This is a great attraction if you are a Christian man or woman. The building is an architectural beauty and it is built on a beautiful site of large trees and stones. I felt an immense solitude upon entering this marvel.

Why only 4 stars? For me visiting a church/chapel should be a serene experience. I would highly recommend they do away with the canned music. It's not that I don't like hymns, but it really got in the way of just "being" in this wonderful space.

we were fortunate to go on Sunday morning and stayed for the worship service. The music minister was so fabulous. what I would give to have a CD of his music . It was truly inspiring! The chapel itself is marvelous! a perfect place of worship in the the woods and hills.

It has been 19 years since our first visit. I knew I wanted to stop by again. We sat in the front row and said our simple prayers and gazed all around. Sitting and seeing the beauty all around and the leaves falling brought the outdoors in and brings you to complete peace.

This Chapel is one of the marvels of Eureka Springs! One only needs to walk in and sit a while to be caught up in the beauty and serenity of the surrounding forest wonderland.

Although the chapel has interesting architecture and location, it was mostly empty, and not much else there. If pressed for time, there are other more interesting places to visit.

The view was pretty and the architecture is phenomenal. It’s a great place for a wedding, although the owners/managers were VERY rude to a couple wedding guests about arriving early and asking to use the bathroom before the wedding started.

Sitting in the Thorncrown chapel with my son on Sunday morning surrounded by the beauty of the foliage and enjoying the incomparable beauty of the architectural experience of the glass and steel structure listening to the sound of gently falling rain and rustling leaves. Such a soul soothing experience.

To fully experience this place, I recommend attending their Sunday service. The music from the piano was beautifully resonating inside the glass chapel. They were not open to the public on our first visit due to a private event but we were allowed to have a minute viewing of the place. We ended up visiting it again and attended the 11am Sunday service before going back to Missouri. So worth it! The story of the place was inspiring! They don't take offerings but accept donations for CDs, books, and prints!

We arrived at the chapel mid morning on a Tuesday. The chapel is a beautiful structure. There were people inside and appeared to be having some type of service. There were some other folks in the parking area sitting and seemed to be waiting to go in. We did not want to intrude, and not knowing protocol for the chapel, we did not get to go in and see it. It would be nice to have some signage to let tourists from out of state know what is open or closed, or restrictions on opening closed doors. First trip through the Ozarks so we won’t get another chance.

This was our 2nd visit to Thorncrown Chapel. This visit, we arrived early enough to attend the 11am worship service. We loved the service. The worship leader was very good (piano player and singer) and the pastor had a great message the day we were there. My highlight...I was allowed to play some prelude piano music prior to the service beginning. I realize they don't let people play their piano often as I'm sure they have no clue who can and cannot play. But they allowed me to play for about 20 minutes and that was a very wonderful experience and I thank them so much for the opportunity. After I finished, the pastor's wife even brought to me a couple beautiful photographs and even a book written by the pastor. Imagine that, give me a gift! Getting to play was gift enough to me. Please, visit Thorncrown and support their ministry. And if you are able, attend a worship service. The gospel you will hear there coupled with the beauty of the church and area is just truly inspirational. Definitely, a must see!

Seeing the architecture itself is worth the visit. Tasteful, and very tranquil. Non-denominational services are held there on Sundays, and would probably be a nice thing to go to at least once just to experience a service in such a nice venue.

Between the Thorncrown Chapel and the Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in town, one can explore two very different means of experiencing one's faith. The Thorncrown Chapel immerses one in the beauty of nature and is very effective in that regard. This was a quick stop.

Unable to visit due to unexpected closures for weddings. Tried twice. Don’t bank on being able to get in based on posted operating hours, it just might not work.

The music is so beautiful in the all glass venue.
They explain that every week is a new crowd, but all are part of the same body of Christ.
Highly recommend you visit as part of your trip to the area.

Always a quiet place to spend a few minutes. Great places for pictures outside. Sunday Church service not over until 11, so plan accordingly.

The architecture is impressive and the atmosphere is serene. It was a nice stop-off as we explored the area. The chapel is right off the main road and easy to get to.

Visiting Thorncrown Chapel was like stepping into a living poem. Nestled quietly among the Ozark woods, this glass-and-wood sanctuary doesn’t just reflect the forest, it becomes part of it. The moment I walked through its doors, I felt the hush of nature wrap around me, as if the trees themselves were holding their breath.
The architecture is breathtaking in its humility. Designed by E. Fay Jones, the chapel rises with grace, its soaring beams and transparent walls inviting sunlight to dance across the pews. It’s a place where silence speaks, where light becomes a language, and where the soul finds room to breathe.
Whether you come for prayer, reflection, or simply to witness beauty, Thorncrown offers more than a view. It offers a feeling. A sense of peace, reverence, and connection that lingers long after you leave.
This chapel isn’t just a building. It’s a gift.

A most unique architectural gem in the middle of nowhere. Worth the trip to see a Fay Jones work which evokes strong spirit in a way which becomes a part of the surrounding forest.

Beautiful church in the woods. Great for meditation. Recommend to visit late in the day with lights on in church.

So glad we stopped here. The setting is just beautiful and so peaceful. A previous post made a big point to say there wasn’t a single cross in the chapel. I counted 25 crosses (see pics), but in fairness the 25th was outside (behind the pulpit).
It’s a short level walk through the trees to the doors, though it never really feels like you’re indoors. Don’t miss this beautiful place.

This is a very pretty chapel in a forested location outside Eureka Springs. We stopped here on our way west after a night and Eureka Springs and enjoyed our brief visit. In the fall it is particularly nice.

Visited here on way to Eureka Springs and found it to be a peaceful and serene place. The chapel itself is simple and fits the site They have one nondenominational service a week.

The chapel is beautiful and very unique in many ways. I definitely recommend to go look at it, but that's about all you can do. When walking into the chapel it's small and the way they have it set up is very awkward. You walk in and they ask you for a donation, then you can't talk or take pictures or be on your phone. Really all you can do is sit there and stare at the glass windows. Once again, this Chapel is gorgeous and has great architecture. But not an attraction I would drive out of your way for or plan to spend more than 20 minutes there.

If you are in the area, it is worth a stop. However, there is nothing to do, but meditate. You can take pics as long as you are seated.

This is one of my favorite places to visit in Eureka Springs! We had never seen it in the fall and it was gorgeous, but anytime of year, this a great place to visit, sit a while, reflect, pray or just simply admire the beautiful architecture and surroundings! Don't miss it!
