Really nice place

By Harold T |

Longest swinging bridge west of Mississippi! Beautiful drive thru the foothills to get there. 3 mile Forrest Service Road to trailhead is a little rough in spots, but easily passable in all but the lowest cars. 1/3 mile on a segment of the Benton McKay trail leads to the bridge.
The trail is a bit rough in places with tree roots across it. We made it fine. The bridge is wonderful. Well supported. Some movement when you walk, but very little. The River is beautiful. Great for an afternoon drive and walk through the woods. .

Not worth the trip up here.

By Rosa R |

We were hiking around the area and decided to do this hike we hiked less for more beautiful views. The 3mile road leading to this hike is horrible and its just a plain bridge with a beauitful river if I knew about the horrible road would of probley skipped this one not worth it then we hiked a little that was nice the trail is highlighted with pink caution tape around which tells you where to hike. Would not reccomend no low down cars or small tires!

Long dusty drive longer walk

By Larry C |

Unless you have hours of spare time to spend 5 minutes at the bridge , I'd pass on this venture . If you have a car that is low I would not recommend trying .

the bridge is a swinger

By ccshndl |

We came in from HWY 60... cars were parked at the road so we assumed you had to walk up... don't walk up. Take your vehicle, recommend 4WD. We had a nice time, pretty day made for a good experience.

GREAT VISIT FOR US AND THE DOG!!

By PETWEAVE |

Be prepared for a rough vehicle ride to the path that leads to the bridge. Then a good walk down the trail to the bridge. But once there the place was pretty fabulous. We met another couple with their dog and the games began between the two canines, jumping off the bank into the water and retrieving as many sticks as we could throw. It was really beautiful. The water was crystal clear-would have loved to jump in myself!

Breathtaking, worth the ride and hike!

By cered56 |

Nice drive from Ellijay and driving back to the beauty and swinging bridge was so worth it! You won’t be disappointed!! Bring a lunch picnic as long as you take your trash back to your vehicle no trash cans and a walk to see it! We will definitely take our grandkids!

Hanging bridge =)

By dabella2015 |

Oh I loved this place, for a scary cat like me it was kkkkk =) you can go to the other side and keep hiking or go down to the river.

A nice little bridge on the river

By megsluvspurple |

Its not a long hike once you conquer the 3 miles of Fire Road to get to the small berm to park your car and walk to the swinging bridge over the river. Its a nice bridge and the views of the river from the many spots to view it on the bridge and alongside the shorelines are very nice too. The trail is pretty nice, some areas with lots of tree roots and short, steep drops so wear good shoes and/or bring a good walking stick.

Great Views

By Katlyn |

This is one of the best hidden gems in the Georgia mountains! It’s a small walk but the views and sounds are more than worth it!!! See the beautiful Toccoa river while walking over a cool suspension bridge! Lots of great camping sites as well!!

Minutes from Suches, GA.

By Ed A |

The Toccoa River Swing Bridge is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful spots in northern Georgia. Its picturesque setting makes it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the area. The stunning views of the river and surrounding landscape create a serene atmosphere that's perfect for a leisurely day trip. I highly recommend taking the time to enjoy this hidden gem—you won’t be disappointed! Minutes from wonderful short term rental homes in the area (Suches, GA).

Light fun on a gorgeous day!

By LisaBrock |

Don't be dissuaded but he comments about getting there! It is a bumpy rise but VERY doable if you don't speed! You can also hike it. There are trails and pretty places to sit and take it all in too. Bridge is good fun and the landscape is pretty! There will be families - as this is a very friendly place for them to show up! Saw lots of young couples too. It's well worth it for an hour of fun!

Best part of our vacation

By tyjojoko |

We visit the blue ridge area yearly and this time we decided to visit the swinging Bridge. So glad we did! The drive up was very bumpy so be prepared.

Take a group

By 91valerie |

The road the bridge is off of can be hard to find as it is not clearly marked coming up Ga 60 North and reception is spotty. Definitely save directions/map prior to visit and keep in mind you will be going up a steep, winding, dirt road. The scenery was beautiful and we all loved it; however there were these two really creepy guys that gave my husband and I both bad feelings down to our core. Like kidnapper/rapist vibes. The feeling from these guys lingered and made it difficult to relax. I would highly recommend going in a group and making sure you're safe.

Awesome!!

By melissasandstrom |

this place was beautiful. its about 4 miles(dirt road. very bumpy and dusty) from the main road. but once you get there its awesome. its about a 10 min hike to the bridge. we took my 3 kids (8,6,and 5) and they had a blast. once we crossed the bridge there was a little creek that ran to the river that they splashed in. then we actually went into the water. while we were there we saw some boys fishing and they had about 10 trout. theres a place to lay a mat down and have a nice lunch there. but just so you know there's only a bridge, nothing else to see. we stayed there for about an hr then left bc the clouds came in and started to thunder. (no rain though)

FUN but hard to get too.

By Barbara S |

The 3 mile dirt bumpy road was very narrow and meeting a car someone had to pull off to pass. There is not a real"parking lot". More just find a spot to pull off and hope someone does not block you in. GO ON WEEK DAY - less people

Beautiful 3 mile drive to this bridge

By Lori S |

We visited here end of October while camping at Morganton Point Campground. This was a beautiful drive, a little rough, but in a 4x4 truck no issues. The hike to bridge was not strenuous and would allow almost everyone to visit. Bridge was really cool and you can continue your hike on other side if you wish.Dog friendly hike as well. Small children can hike this easily but may need to be carried in a few places. We enjoyed this drive and hike very much!

Hiking: Swinging Bridge

By Jeanne S |

This was a great hike. I parked on the main road and hiked up because it is a gravel road for about 4 miles. The hike from the main parking lot to the bridge is 1 mile. A cool experience and a pretty hike.

Fun Adventure

By FLWOOKIE |

This was a nice hike down to the bridge. The road up to the bridge from the south doesn't have a sign. Then, when you find it you go up a dirt road for 3 miles to the parking lot. Then you hike down to the bridge. The bridge is a swinging bridge that goes over the Toccoa River. I liked the bridge a lot! It is a must see!

Fun outing outside of Blue Ridge: 2 Hours or more

By osnoopy13 |

During our Labor Day Trip to Blue Ridge we found this side trip about 45 minutes from downtown off Hwy 60. Once you get to the location there is a gravel path about 3 mi from the highway to the bridge parking area. We had an SUV that made it ok but recommend jeep or truck because the road is rough driving. Short .5 mile hike to the swinging bridge from the parking area. The bridge and Toccoa river is beautiful and fun. There is a small waterfall site on the far side of the bridge and if you don't mind the very cold mountain water a few visitors went swimming in the river edge to cool off. Nice place to take selfies. The reviews say this swinging bridge is the longest one east of the Mississippi River. Don't miss this if you are in the Blue Ridge area and like short hikes. Free. No fees.

A long drive down a lonely dirt road - but, oh so worth it!

By davej1472018 |

The Toccoa River Swinging Bridge was our destination for the day, so the long (3 or 4 miles, I'm guessing) dirt road that dead ends in a "parking lot" was never going to be a deterrent. We were in a minivan and had no trouble, so regardless of what you're driving, you should be fine. You'll know you're at the right place when the road ends...and you see a half dozen or so cars parked haphazardly. At this point, follow the easy path for perhaps a quarter mile to the bridge. As others have mentioned, the bridge over the Toccoa River is just beautiful. It slightly swings left to right as you walk across it. And, the views from the bridge are wonderful. Well worth the effort to get here - you'll be glad you did!

A Local and Tourist Favorite

By BackPacker702082 |

The Swinging Bridge over the Toccoa River near Morganton, GA, is a popular attraction when visiting Fannin County, GA. On weekends, it can be very crowded with locals and tourists. The quietest times to visit are on weekdays. And the three-mile long dirt/gravel USFS Road leading to it can be very rough and is most easily traveled in a high-clearance vehicle. From the road end, the bridge is accessed by a short 1/4 mile portion of the Benton McKaye Trail (BMT).

The drive is half the adventure!

By Margaret N |

I am not sure how people park at the bottom and hike up. It is 3 miles up hill and wouldn't be easy. We have an SUV (2 wheel drive) and this was one bumpy ride, but honestly if your car can make it over the very beginning of the service road, your car should be fine. You have to create your own parking spots at the top. The hike to the bridge from the parking spot was easy. This is a neat bridge. We saw kids playing in the water. Glad we did this!

Easy hike to a fun spot

By daniel p |

Quick and easy hike down to the bridge. The gravel road drive is much longer than the hike! This was a fun way to spend an hour with teens. They enjoyed the bridge and areas on both sides to climb on rocks and trees. A handful of other families, but not too busy. I’d recommend for anyone looking to kill time with an easy walk/hike.

Super cool!

By ozzythadog |

So as a family outing we stopped by and glad we did! I had been several times before and thought it was a neat place...my kids LOVED it! Its a lil bit of a hike (nothing to serious or difficult) and the surroundings are beautiful! Just another place to enjoy Gods work in the Appalachian Mountains.

IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!

By BethSharpton |

We were in Blue Ridge recently and had a lot of time to kill so we looked up popular things to do, this is one of them. I don't really see the attraction. It is in the middle of nowhere!!! It's a "long" 3 mile drive up and extremely rough gravel road to get to the point where you take a very short hike in to see the bridge. There are no facilities there so bring along some tissue in case that bumpy ride jiggles a little urge to go!!! It's pretty but not amazing to me. Been there, done that!

Visit this place!!

By Michele P |

Amazing place with the best private dog friendly Pup porch of any restaurant I've ever seen. Food was so good, service was great.

Nice bridge to see!

By Experience813250 |

We did the loop around Blueridge, stopping to hike and visit various places. This was one of them. Nice little hike over a VERY bumpy gravel and dirt road led to the bridge. You definitely need a truck or SUV to navigate this road. I would recommend it as it is something different to see.

Just a swingin

By sundrop241 |

Pretty cool swinging bridge and some good areas to have a picnic along the water. About 3 plus miles off the main road so be prepared for a slow bumpy, hilly and winding road to get there.

Fun hike, fun swinging bridge

By Susan B |

Good hike for all ages with fun bridge over a gorgeous section of the river. Hike to bridge is a downward rocky, rooty, dirt trail. Everything you’d want on a good hike. Walking stick could be helpful. Not a very long distance before the reward of the rushing river under the swinging trail bridge. Great photo opp all along the way and by the river.

SWING TIME

By NANCY T |

Prepare for a very bumpy, dirt road to get there. Once there, it's a short hike but amazing view. Bring your water shoes and swim suits. You can swim there. Highly recommend it!!

Nice place with good restaurants

By Elaine D |

We were there visiting and ate at Tomatoes pizza which was excellent. It was nice walking across the bridge and seeing the area.

Great little hike

By Sarah CK |

The 3 mile drive in was so much fun! Short hike to the bridge... our pup wouldn’t cross so we didn’t do the longer hike but our 4 year old had a blast crossing the swinging bridge.

Nice bridge - difficult ride

By IRIS P |

The bridge is great. Really good. However, the ride to the bridge is 3 miles on unpaved road. We were driving a minivan. That was not the right car for that trip. Do it if you have a SUV or truck. We almost got stuck on the mud...

Vacation hike

By tlzimm47 |

The trail to the bridge is an easy hike and once their a great view of the Toccoa River. The parking area is somewhat limited however and the road to it is mostly gravel.

Fun experience

By SaltLife-MN |

Our family enjoyed the walk to the bridge. The trail is pretty wide and easy for little kids (4yr old). The bridge is really neat and takes just a minute to get used to the feel of it swaying.

The winding dirt road to get to the trail was tricky at times, longer than we thought.

Awesome Hike

By Chi_Town1000 |

We hiked here with our kids. We took the long way and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bridge is really scenic and interesting. Avoid the crowds and go early.

The place is awesome, the trail to get there ... CHALLENGING !!

By Peter R |

Looking for a great place to take pictures, hiking , and off road adventure ? So you found it!! Lot of trails , beautiful views and a lot of off road action ( better have a good car )

Unique Georgia swinging bridge.

By Sylvia R |

The drive from the main road to the limited parking area is 3 miles and due to the terrain, this takes approximately 25 minutes with no other traffic. We arrived at 1 p.m. on a Thursday and left at 3 p.m. Just a short walk from the parking area to the bridge. There are walking trails on the far side of the bridge if you want to hike. The trails are well marked and very peaceful. No bathrooms, so take to the woods if you need to.

One of our favorite hiking visits

By Virginia D |

It's challenging to drive to but the views and the solitude are well worth the trip! One of our favorite hikes!

Bridge over the river Toccoa

By VerAgu23 |

This was a Great time with kids. They enjoyed the hike and going off trail. We found some nice walking sticks and kept them the entire trip to the Georgia Mountains.

Swing Bridge

By Jill S |

Take time to visit this bridge. 3 mile drive on dirt/rock road was very rough drive at times but I have a 4x4. We saw several people in small cars. Not too steep just steady incline.

Visit a piece of History

By Roberta That Florida Girl |

This is well worth the trip even if it is a little bumpy and narrow on the road in. This was our second visit and it had been refurbished since the last time about 3 years ago. The area was a little crowded, but there is plenty of room to explore along the river bank and along the trails. The short hike to the swinging bridge was picturesque.

How to rate Mother Nature?

By Randall K |

Beautiful short hike to bridge. Bridge is a wonderful photo op. Good for kids and dogs. Rough ride in, better have 4 wheel drive.

Short hike

By Stephanie Caldarello |

Fun short hike to the bridge. Great excursion for all ages! Wear your swimsuits and bring a picnic if you want

Drive is part of the Charm

By CTwibell |

The drive is part of the charm and fun, we would recommend a SUV. You are secluded and can take in the beauty of nature!

worth the view ......please take time and enjoy the tree seat, small water fall

By Robert B |

worth the view ......please take time and enjoy the tree seat, small water fall...the way it moves .....just amazing...

Great short hike

By krchampion |

Once you leave the paved Hwy. the gravel road is about 3 miles long. You can only go about 10 miles an hour on it. Great short hike to bridge. Small beach on the banks of the river with easy access on both side.

Long drive

By Sharon H |

This was a long drive that was definatly scetchy. It was literaly off the beaten path. We made it in a chevy cruz all the way up there. It was awsome once we got there.

Great hike for the young and old...and the road, well....its a Park Maintenance road...

By Chris M |

OK, so I have a cabin in Blue Ridge that I rent out to customers, so I had to evaluate this attraction, and of course try and paint a very accurate picture of the "infamous" road that leads up to the final hike portion...so...Leave the Porche and Beemer at home, because this road is a parks maintenance road and at a few places you really have to crawl over the uneven terrain....but my brother drove his Altima there without too much difficulty and we were NEVER in any danger of not being able to drive, get stuck or not make it....Now, if you go after a decent rain, that might change this story!! I would say that there were about as many people who opted to park down on the highway entrance to the service road as there was parked up at the end of the service road.....My 84 year old father was able to make the hike without too much difficulty, and the scenery and bridge area were definitely worth it as it was at the end of leaf season! My Dad found the walking stick invaluable to help over the roots and rocks for sure! ** This would be an awesome Mtn bike trail ride from the highway down to the bridge!! Go down below the bridge on the far side and take some pictures looking up, best angle no doubt!

Fun

By Pmuss |

This was a fun little walk and we enjoyed the views from the swinging bridge. I was surprised that the bridge was in excellent condition. The drive back on the dirt road could definitely use some work!!!

Long gravel road

By Soflasmith |

The bridge is remarkable. But the gravel road to the bridge is 3.1 miles long and very rough. I would say it is worth it.

A rainy day did not hurt our visit

By Journey518243 |

Rain was forecast but it didn't start until we were actually on the bumpy road that leads to the bridge. Nevertheless, we determined to walk the short distance (7-8 minutes) to the bridge and were rewarded with a great adventure. The walk was easy, even for someone our ages (70s) with only a minor slowdown just before reaching the bridge as there was a sharp decline in the path and, with all the rain lately, it could be slippery. We encountered no problems, however. I highly recommend this trip.

Awesome

By J M |

This place is very cool! It was recommended by locals and didn't fail! Beautiful area with plenty of trails to hike!

Fun adventure!

By Hollyd912 |

The drive back was nuts!! Thought we'd never get there. Finally parked, the short hike down was fun, and the bridge was super neat!! We played around by the water for a while. My 5 and 8 year olds loved the adventure!

Nice Hike

By Luvinlife34266 |

We went a little late in the day so there weren't many people there. Enjoyed the hike back and the view was very pretty. I'm not a big fan of bridges that move, so was glad we were the only ones on it. I would have loved to see a sign in the parking lot "Trail to Bridge" or something like that. There were a couple of paths, and we weren't sure which one to take. Glad we picked the correct one.

Awesome Bridge and Hike

By TravelerDavidfromGA |

We went late fall to have some great fun hiking and playing on the bridge. My pup loved the walk and playing in the river. Easy hike from the parking lot, longer hikes are available.

Really great spot for photoa

By Lauren R |

My husband and I visited the swinging Bridge and although the drive was a bit rough to get there, it was worth it! We took some really beautiful photos and it was very peaceful and quiet.

Peaceful & Beautiful

By Michelle M |

The 3 mile road that takes you to the swinging bridge is rough & narrow in most places. Once you park, there is a short hike to the bridge & it’s so peaceful there. You can hike all around the bridge as well & there is even a chair to sit by the river. So glad we found it before going back home. If you are in the area - it is a must see!

Pretty incredible! Per Friendly!

By extrememg |

This was a great adventure. The swinging Bridge is amazing and the views over the river are incredible, just a short the walk from the parking area to the bridge that was not difficult at all. Pet Friendly!

Finding the actual entrance to the bridge was a little more difficult. There are so many bad addresses on the Internet for it, You can spend hours trying to locate it. There is a large state park sign that shows you the entrance to the dirt/gravel road that will take you to the parking area. The best way to find it is do your due diligence and follow the directions on the state webpage and start from the point they tell you too.

Family tradition

By Cassie C |

As a child I always came to the swinging bridge each year. Now that I have children we have kept the tradition going! We enjoy the view from above and the River fun we always have! Absolutely a must see!

Super Cool

By Chalkley11 |

Its a rough drive getting up there so hopefully you have a truck or a Jeep. But its worth the drive. Its a little bit of a bumpy hike to get to the bridge but cool piece of history and great view.

Lovely Walk

By MoMof3boys77 |

This is a great short hike, perfect for kids. The bridge is interesting and a beautiful spot for pictures. You can also hike beyond the bridge if you want. Road to reach trail head is narrow and parking is very limited.

Pretty swinging bridge over the Toccoa River

By cheryl24x7 |

We took the approximately three mile gravel road to this area. It was one way and we met several cars that required backing up and pulling off to the side. When we got to the end of the road, there was space for several cars to park in between trees. We took a short walk down a trail to the riverside area and across the Toccoa River Swinging Bridge. It was a nice place to take pictures and get outside. By the time we left, there were lots of people arriving. I would recommend going either early in the morning or on a weekday to avoid crowds. This was definitely worth the time though.

Nice view

By Passport747165 |

The drive up was rough. Nice walk in. The bridge wasn't as high as I expected, but the experience was nice.

Nice!

By doyledeloach |

Off the beaten path but worth it when you get there. Parking is tricky not a bad walk to the bridge. We all took a swim when we got there,

Toccoa Swinging Bridge

By Paula M |

The road leading to the bridge was very rocky and bumpy, took about 20 minutes to get to the parking area for the bridge. Just a slight hike down to the bridge, scenery was awesome.

Amazing Views

By Christy A |

Quick hike, fairly simple .. not to steep to the beautiful swinging bridge that oversees the Toccoa river, small stream water falls.

Worth the trip!

By sarahbpm |

We stopped into the Ellijay information office to get written driving directions to the swinging bridge. The women in the information office were very helpful! It is about 45 min drive from Ellijay. The drive is pretty. The parking lot is down a bumpy road about 15/20 mins from the main road. Park and hike a short 10mins to the bridge. Very scenic! A great spot to get close to the river. Great family outing!

Nice bridge

By Shelby O |

We were worried like others about the three mile gravel road and rain all week. We had no issues and only two other vehicles parked there. Worth it and fun exploring and hiking all around the bridge. Don’t let the gravel road determine if you try it, this is perfect time of year to go!

Prius Friendly

By Zachery & Shann... T |

4x4 not needed...heavy rain and the Prius still crushed it. Great opportunity to spend a day near the water and enjoy the relaxing area.

Awesome Bridge!

By Crystal G |

We stopped by and saw the swinging bridge on our trip to the blue ridge mountains. Its a short hike to the bridge, once there you can walk across the bridge. A must see if in in the area :)

Beautiful quiet spot

By Ricky H |

It’s a long dirt road and a little rough but we did it in a car. Just go slow and you’ll have no trouble bottoming out or anything. The parking area Is just find a place no designated area like a parking lot. It’s a trail to the bridge not a sidewalk your in the woods lol. I’m having hip replacement a week after our trip to the area so if I can make it you can too. The area is clean no trash laying around it’s a beautiful place by the river. The bridge does move if your walking with someone. My wife is afraid of heights even though it’s not that high off the water. It’s not like a bad swinging bridge I’ve been on before but there is some movement.
Go for it you’ll always wish you did. I never felt like it was an unsafe place like I read on another review. We saw two other couples and two lady’s alone, Everyone was friendly. During Covid times this is the only places we adventure too.

Nice, simple site!

By Brian S |

We took our 4 kids (9,5,3,3) here for a quick outing to burn energy. The path is very easy to navigate with a two wheel drive, low vehicle. Don’t be led astray by the other reviews telling you to have a 4x4.... that’s overkill. The trail to the parking area is 3 miles of beautiful scenery and the kids enjoyed taking it in. Once parked (just find an empty area and pull in) it was a short easy hike to the bridge. There is a clean opening just prior to the bridge for the kids to run a FB play and you can get in the river if you wish! Very nice, simple outing to soak up the mountain air and let the kids have an adventure!

Great views and a beautiful waterfall

By bornwithwheels |

You can view the falls from the top by driving up to the parking area there. If you want to see more or want to walk across the bridge you will need to be able to walk lots of steep steps. When I saw a much younger person sitting and out of breath I knew this would not be easy. There are a couple of benches along the way. Going down to the bridge, not so bad. Beautiful views altho not everyone wants to go across the bridge, there is a waiting area for those who dont want to cross it. Make sure you take some water with you, the trip back up the steps is difficult. I think is was about 425 to one point then another 300 to the bridge. We got there too late to go all the way to the bottom.

Great time

By Kristy Z |

I was really scared to drive here after reading the reviews. I was really trying to see if there was a place I could park my car and then walk/hike to the bridge to bypass driving on the dirt road. The road ended up being not nearly as bad as I was anticipating. I drive a Honda Fit and the drive was definitely doable. If you’ve ever driven on an uneven brick road, that’s what it was like for 3 miles. I had no trouble whatsoever just very bumpy. The drive is worth it. My boyfriend and I brought our bathing suits and changed in the woods when we got there. We swam in the Freezing cold river and had a great time.

Loved the off-road experience

By Kaiden F |

Came with family in August. Very much enjoyed the 3-mile gravel road drive. It actually felt like we were out in nature as opposed to visiting a tourist attraction. The river was also beautiful and would love a chance to float it at some point.

Too many people, rough road, not worth it

By B F |

Very rough and bumpy road! Too many people! Way too busy, hard to find parking because so many people. Not worth it. Its just a bridge. Woop de do

Take your car, don't fret about the drive, well worth it!!!

By Andrew D |

Went to see the swinging bridge today with my five kiddos (17, 13, 8, 3, and 2) and it was amazing. For those worried about the drive up the road to the limited parking area, DON'T. We drove our 15-passenger Ford Transit 350. Road comfortably fit us and many areas where two vehicles can pass. There's also many areas you could turn around if you really wanted too. Once you drive until the road ends, is a short hike to the bridge and beyond. Beyond the bridge are picture spots, a very flat area to hop into the river and even camp if you wanted too. Our 8 year old has a wheelchair so had her in a backpack on our backs. The two babies easily made the walk holding hands.

Fun little adventure with a short easy hike!

By Keith I |

Short hike and fun adventure. Don't let the initial drive onto the gravel road scare you off but take it slow. Some places only one car can go through. My wife has a bad ankle and she had no problem with the hike to the bridge.

Great family fun

By Kasia B |

We went there with my family and everyone enjoyed it. The scenery is great! The drive is long and the terrain is bad, but when you get there its worth it.

Nope

By christi b |

I can’t review the bridge because after seeing the entrance to the “service road” you are supposed to use to get there, we decided it was a big nope. The entrance was one car only. Maybe it widens out when you get going but we were in a truck and unwilling to chance not being able to turn around once we committed. The large pothole at the entrance also seemed like a warning of what was awaiting this journey.
What I did observe was a car trying to go through and come back out a few minutes later to park outside of the road and attempt to just walk it. Which, I’m not opposed to walking but it’s a 3 mile walk one way from the entrance and we were told by a local that they wouldn’t recommend walking it because of the narrow roads and traffic.
Also know that we had no phone or internet signal in the area so if you were to need assistance, it might be hard to get. The drive was pretty but very curvy and not much fun if you are in front of a local that wants you to go faster. We had to pull over a few times to keep from getting pushed. Sorry to be a Debbie downer but wish I would have had this info before we went.

Don’t let the gravel road scare you

By Shiree S |

Must see. We had a great time. So glad I didn’t let the 3 mile narrow gravel road scare me. We made it’s just fine with my 11 year old Toyota Sienna - took 29 minutes at 19 mph- bite well worth the River and bridge. We spent a few hours hiking around there as well.

Awesome Adventure

By Jeff S |

Ready to have some fun? Ready to take a little drive? Then this is for you. A little hard to find but once you get there you will have an enjoyable time. Make sure you wear comfortable foot wear and probably extra clothing if you plan on getting wet which you probably will if you have kids. Once you get to the parking area there is a little walk to the bridge so be aware of that. Just enjoy the day and have some out door fun.

WOW Adventure

By OKRexWC |

The landlord of our vacation rental provided a list of sights in the area with a little description. Being older and out of shape we have to be a little careful, but this looked dooable. What an adventure. First, it is about 3 miles off the main, paved highway. It is gravel, but it was a little washed out, so a little rough. We saw all size of vehicles, so don't let that scare you off. The road was part of the adventure. The path to the bridge is great. Just a couple of pretty steep areas. When you get to the bridge, be prepared to be in awe. Such a beautiful site so far off the beaten path. The sounds of the river and watching the water is hypnotizing. It is well worth the time, drive, and hike. Go to this great adventure.

Well worth the hike!

By TJCFtMyers |

Great place to visit if you are in the area. The swing bridge is exciting with a beautiful view! The hike is a short ways from were you park but it is not a difficult walk. A fun visit

Beautiful scenery!

By Tiffany Manoly |

Spectacular place to visit! Always on our list to visit every time we get to the mountains. Can be accessed from different places. Well worth the hike!

The trail to Toccoa River Swinging Bridge is easy and all people can do it. The bridge is built over the Toccoa River and offers great views down the river. There is also a pretty little stream with little waterfalls in the area. This is a fun place to take children as well.

Great views

By colleen w |

Spent a week in the area taking pictures and this was one of my favorite spots. Nice, relaxing drive easy hike down to the bridge. The bridge itself was nit like I expected it was solid construction and barely moved unless you intentionally swayed it. Great water views from the bridge as well as in the other side.

Don't miss this

By donald l |

The ride from Blue ridge is beautiful, there is about a 3 mile road that is rough in places, we were in a SUV no problem. A short hike to the bridge and a wonderful place for a picnic.

Beautiful! But REALLY rough road!

By hope4you |

I'm sure it had something to do with the storm that had gone through this area a few weeks before, but the road to get to the bridge was AWFUL! Not good for small cars! But the nice hike down and the bridge and surrounding area is truly beautiful. I'm sure it's lots of fun to play in the water in the summertime. It's a fun trip. Just better is a 4 wheel drive truck!!

Beautiful but long 3mile narrow bumpy dirt road to get there

By NovaVaz |

This was a super beautiful place but a very bumpy road to get there. It was a 3 mile narrow, 1 lane windy dirt/rocky road to get there. We had an SUV but not sure if a car would be advisable. Once there, you park (not in a lot) and you walk about 1/4 mile hike to get to the bridge. No bathrooms or park Rangers or cell service so don’t go alone. Some people were swimming in the river and hiking further but we didn’t really know where we were going and wasn’t comfortable going to far. Took so beautiful pictures. Spend about an hour there.

Scenic and fun

By Janice R |

This is a beautiful site over the Toccoa River on the Benton Mackey trail. You do need to walk an easy 5 min uneven dirt trail downhill to the bridge. Luckily the bridge access is accessible by car not just by hiking! The road back to the swinging bridge has lots of ruts so it's probably best suited for an SUV, not a low riding sedan. It is a fun outing not about 15-20 min from downtown Blue Ridge. I think strollers could make it from parking to the bridge, but I would not call it wheelchair friendly.

Swinging Bridge

By Charles J |

A little bit of a drive and a short hike to get there, but well worth the trip. Really neat bridge and beautiful scenery.

Great hike for kids

By georgia_8 |

Great short hike for kids! The kids loved the swinging bridge and the short hike along the way! The little waterfall is a great place for pictures !

easy walk and great trip

By Timezone Travelers |

somewhat of a rough drive to parking place but well worth it. Just go slow. The bridge is awesome and it was fun for all in our group.

great adventure!

By Michelle Peck |

Be warned, the road to the bridge is a gravel road that feels like it takes forever. In reality it is only about 3 miles, but it is a rough 3 miles. Better if you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle…although we did it in my little Honda and it was ok. The road is very narrow, full of blind spots around corners and hairpin turns. Please don’t go if you are going to drive like my best friends and act like turds or try to show how hard you are.
The walk to the bridge is short but a little perilous as the ground is uneven, lots of ups and down, and LOTS of roots. Not good for people with limited mobility.
The bridge itself is super fun and it crosses some beautiful rapids. There is a trail on the other side and you can get down to the bank and play in the water.
Overall a good experience and I would recommend trying it…just drive carefully!

Relaxing Hike

By Cara W |

The road to get to this is very primitive. It was very rough on our mini van. I enjoyed the hike to the bridge. It is very shady. The views were beautiful. It was fun walking on the bridge and feeling the swing. We explored the streams on both sides of the river.

Swinging bridge

By Sarah S |

Long drive down a bumpy dirt road, no real parking lot at the end of the road, people just parked wherever they could fit their cars. If there has been any rain, the parking area and hiking trail will be muddy. It was an easy walk to the bridge and then across it. On the other side you can go to the bottom and get in the water if you choose, just be careful as the river flows fast at certain areas. We walked around exploring some of the little off-shoots on the other side of the bridge

Fun destination - and free

By Staci W |

Had a fun time at the bridge. Don't let other reviews about the road scare you - it's just a dirt road! Totally doable.

Great spot to picnic, run around, do some easy or moderate hiking. Some nice open areas on the other side of the bridge to let the dogs run (or in our case, the children).

Fun adventure awaits!

Off of the paved path

By roger i |

This was a unique and fun experience for us. We traveled here with 2 boys, 10 and 15 years old. We've visited the Smoky mountains quite a few times but have never found anywhere to venture into the woods via off-road. Here we found a 15-20 minute drive into the woods down an unpaved road. Yes it was bumpy at times but totally manageable for any car. The walk to the bridge is not overwhelming. We're not hikers and have some health issues and we were able to make it there and back just fine. It was a neat and different experience. The rapid waters below the bridge are impressive. You're also able to walk around the bridge area near the river bank for some neat pics. We visited in the middle of winter but the weather was moderate with temp in the 50's, no snow.

Fun hiking experience

By NGA Adventurer23 |

It's a little bit of a drive down a narrow dirt road, but it is pretty cool to see the old swinging bridge. Recommend hiking around a bit as well.

Bumpy road but easy hike

By Caiatikid |

No kidding-the road in is very, very bumpy !! They need better turn outs when an oncoming car is approaching.
Pack a lunch, some towels to sit on or your kayak and enjoy the Toccoa River and walk-across swinging bridge.
Very peaceful.

Longest swinging bridge east of the Mississippi

By Kelsey S |

The title may get your expectations up a little too high because the bridge isn't really that long, but it's still a fun experience! The area is beautiful and (when we were there) quiet and peaceful. Getting to the bridge is a bit of an adventure in itself since it sits far off the main road on a winding dirt path that's fun to drive. For those afraid of bridges and intimidated by the 'swinging' part, it really doesn't move very much, and the motion is more like a slight bounce.

Easy family friendly hike with a great pay off.

By Jonathan H |

A little off the beaten path but we made the dirt road part in our minivan so not too bad. Parking can be tight if it is holiday weekend. Seams late afternoon is the busiest time. The walk from the end of the dirt road is very short. No problem for small ones. The bridge is awesome and the view is great. Lots of fun exploring around the river below and trying to hop from rock to rock without getting wet.

Nice short hike, beautiful view...

By Tracey B |

We were pleasantly surprised the hike wasn't bad at all. The bridge was nice & a great photo area. We would suggest this to anyone who asked.

Cool bridge

By Dawhn C |

The hike to the bridge was uphill but not too difficult. The bridge is really cool, I definitely recommend it.

Pretty neat!

By G1989DRhollyp |

Be prepared for a bit of a drive up there but its pretty neat once you get there. Lots of room to run around (for kids) and if it was summer time it would be a great spot to hop in the water.

loved the adventure but beware of rugged road!

By 1Tomahawk |

2nd time to Blue Ridge. went to Amicalola Falls last time. tried this for an outdoor adventure since it was closer to where we were staying. i wasn't prepared for the ride up. after traveling the curvy but lovely scenic road to get to the gravel road, there was one small sign on a tree that said Toccoa Swinging Bridge this way. So we turned on a gravel road but it was rough! Going thru the woods up the mountain, no side rails, drop offs, ruts and rocky..make sure you are in a stable suv. did pass 2 cars going down but my suspension system was getting a work out! when we got to the dead end, there are no lights, no signs, just woods and the open dirt space for parking. we were the only 2 there. decided to just start walking straight ahead and there is a well seen path you follow just a few minutes, you will hear the river. a little slope down and then you're there! so worth it! loved the suspension bridge over the rushing water. will sway a bit when you're walking across. just beautiful and awesome. we crossed it then just turned around and hiked back. around 7pm didn't want it to get dark on us being alone. mom is 77 and made it back but the path inclines a ways and was a little hard on her.she had to go slow and use a walking stick. but for anyone else, it's easy and fun. just don't go alone, you're in the woods and the ride up is pretty bouncy. still enjoyed the adventurous feel to it! :) it looked the path continued on the other side of the bridge but we didn't venture out. would loved to have went down to the water but didn't get to see much of the access spots.

Pretty area!

By aneph14 |

I found the trails a bit confusing so we didn't actually walk very far but the bridge and area below are beautiful and fun to explore. The little spring waterfall on the other side is really peaceful for a little picnic too. The road wasn't too bad. I wouldn't drive it if your car is low to the ground though. Just a few inclined bumps that seem like it would be tricky to not bottom out driving over. GPS will tell you it takes like 35-40 min to drive down the dirt road. It took us 20 min.

Cool bridge

By oceanview1 |

Cool place to visit if you are in the area. It is literally in the middle of nowhere. There is a tiny sign at the entrance thankfully to let you know you've arrived at the entrance or you would definitely miss it. Then you have to go up a three mile gravel dirt road that is extremely windy and narrow and full of ruts and holes. If you have an SUV or 4x4 type truck you will have no problem with the road although the larger the vehicle I think makes it tough as it's a narrow road. I have a car without 4x4 and it was a very rough drive in for me. Once you get to the "parking lot" which is not a parking lot at all-it is literally a very small area that can fit maybe 8 to 10 vehicles possibly. There are no lines for spaces and it is not a parking lot it's just an area where you park your car. This was actually a good thing having a smaller vehicle as it allowed me to find a place to park but if you have a larger SUV or truck I can see it being a challenge. The walk down to the bridge is just a few minutes from the parking area. The bridge itself is very cool to walk over and it literally does swing as it's a suspension type bridge so it's a very cool feeling. There is a trail but I did not go on it and I think it is a rather Long trail not something you could just walk easily while you are there. There are no restrooms or even porta potties so you are out of luck if you have to go. I would say by the time you drive up the road walk to the bridge and back to your car you need to allow at least an hour.

Worth the Effort

By Michael K |

Yes, the drive up the forest service road is a bit daunting. I made it up SLOWLY in my Subaru Impreza. Keep in mind the parking is VERY limited at the top - maybe 15 cars. The walk to the bridge is maybe 5 minutes and the whole are is very beautiful. The "swing" of the bridge isn't much, really.

Great Hike

By Matthew M |

A bit of a drive, but an easy family hike and the bridge is really cool. A little steep in spots, but we've done it with young kids, but take your time. Worth the drive.

Unexpected gem

By chrissy2655 |

We were looking for a place to get in a short hike that my 2 yr old would also enjoy. The swinging bridge fit the bill. It was a nice drive from Blue Ridge, an easy walk to the bridge, and a beautiful view. Lots of poison ivy to watch out for.

Beautiful views

By Krystle F |

The drive to the swinging bridge was lengthy because you are going so slow. It is windy and all gravel which also makes it a bumpy ride. There is limited parking in the area. The hike was fairly easy and not too steep. The bridge was beautiful. Once crossing the bridge there was a small waterfall and a nice area to fish or have a picnic near the rivers edge.

Absolutely beautiful and relatively easy to get to

By Lacey G |

So beautiful and very easy to get to. The drive up the mountain takes some time but once you park it’s a very simple, somewhat level/very slightly inclined walk to get to the bridge. There are tons of places to put up a hammock and flat spots to even have a nice rest/picnic. We didn’t go far past the bridge so can’t attest to the remaining trails but the bridge was definitely a must see for us. We even got in the water and took tons pictures. Would definitely do again.

Beautiful serene area

By AJMglobaltraveller |

Beautiful serene river and bridge, down a 3 mile forestry road, which was very bumpy.
Short walk from parking the car to the river. The bridge swings quite a lot. Very peaceful. We had the place to ourselves when we arrived.

Awesome

By hsv2328 |

We went with our adult
Children and had an amazing time! The hike is fairly easily and the bridge is well worth the trip! Their is even a nice waterfall at the end of the bridge!
I highly work!

Crazy drive but worth it!

By VonVon1981 |

The bridge is really cool! Beautiful area. The drive is long and tedious but worth it. Wear tennis shoes or hiking boots but it's Not a hard trail at all

Cool time.

By Adam H |

The end point was nice with the bridge. Road leading up to it was rough. Dirt/gravel and very thin in places. Especially when you have a incoming car. Is it worth it? I would yes. As for the hike it was bad. My parents are in there 60’s and they made it easily.

It a cool thing to do once.

Not worth the drive but nice hike

By Zachary |

Nice little hike at the beginning and the bridge is nice, but it is super hard to drive into with only one lane on a gravel road.

Beautiful and clean.

By Wendy H |

Beautiful and clean. Road is not too bad, but good clearance is needed. The signs are missing, but the bridge is a short hike, Great places to picnic and fish.

Fun morning hike with kids

By Gina H |

Easy hike with our 3 and 1-year old grandsons. I’m afraid of heights and swinging bridges usually trigger my fear, but this one doesn’t swing too much and the side fencing is secure. Beautiful setting with nice area to explore on the far side before making our way back to the trailhead. When you get to the obvious end of the park road, you won’t see trail signs until you walk 30 feet or so down the path.

The drive up to the trailhead is as great as the bridge itself!

By TripMomof1 |

The swinging bridge is wonderful and we highly recommend visiting if you are in the Blue Ridge area. I definitely agree with the previous reviewers that said not to try this with a car... I personally wouldn't try it with anything but an AWD/4x4 SUV/Jeep/truck etc. The road is 4 or so miles to get to the trail head and it is very bumpy, rocky and muddy. With that being said, we had a blast driving back there in our AWD SUV. The walk to the bridge was pretty easy even for a couch-potato-ish person like myself. The bridge was beautiful as was the river and area around the bridge. We climbed down to the water to explore a little while we were there.

We had no trouble finding it because we used the GPS coordinates in Google Maps. Parking lot -
N 34°44.350' W084°10.213'

Fall trip

By Marcia H |

To us it was worth the trip on the crazy bumpy road. All part of the adventure. The bridge was cool as well.
I would not try the drive in a car it was very bumpy and had large pot hole.

Super Easy Family Hike

By isa_raa |

Bring your bathing suits and picnic so you can spend a perfect day by the river.

The hike to the Bridge is super easy and there's a hike trail after the Bridge for those who want a bit more (still kids friendly).

Follow the White Diamond Sign to find the trail.

Nice hike & beautiful view

By Johanna L |

Make sure to take a car with a high wheel base. The drive to get there is rough. The hike is pretty easy though & the view is beautiful. No bathrooms so go before or be prepared to go in the woods

Amazing views !

By Lilly |

Definitely a must see ! The road was fun to drive on a little scary on some parts but the excitement was worth it. The bridge was awesome the river was beautiful. Me and my boyfriend picked a couple of rocks from the water flowing from this little waterfall. Did some hiking and exploring. Overall a wonderful experience.

What you expect

By BGrant2013 |

The hike to the bridge is not bad. The beginning of the return was a bit tough, for non hikers. The bridge is very cool and the little waterfall on the far side is a nice place to rest for a bit.

Challenging yet rewarding

By Alex F |

The journey to the Toccoa River Swinging Bridge is challenging but manageable. It's definitely not for the faint of heart as you climb and descend rough terrain around a curvy, one lane dirt road. We had no problem maneuvering our 2018 Nissan Titan SV Crew with bikes mounted on the bike rack. The bridge is a magnificent feat in and of itself. The hike to, from and beyond the bridge is well worth the trip and brings a warm, comforting connection with nature.

Beautiful but a bit treacherous getting up there!

By Vanessa J |

My husband and I decided to make the drive to see this bridge and are so glad we did! BUT the drive up the mountain from the freeway is about 20-30 minutes up some very steep and pot hole ridden terrain. We were very glad we had an SUV. However, we did see some Sedans make it up as well, so maybe we are just more overly safety-conscious. Totally worth the drive though! The bridge and surrounding scenery is beautiful!

Beautiful

By Crystal F. |

It was quite the drive getting there. The rough terrain was rough of our car. Wasnt sure where we were going. Totally worth it!!!! It was beautiful!! We all loved it.

A must see!

By Kristy R |

The road is very long, unpaved, narrow and a bit curvy. Not to worry there were several minivans that made it. We should have planned to stay for a picnic, it was absolutely a perfect day. The bridge was fun to walk across.

Scenic and fun

By Stephanie E |

The swinging bridge is in a isolated area and the road in is unpaved, narrow, winding, and a little scary. I would not attempt it at night. There is no parking lot per se--you have to find a place at the end of the road. There is no bathroom. It is all worth it. Once you park, it is a short hike down to to the bridge. Look for the chair carved into the tree stump--it is about midway down. We were there with a 9yo and a baby in an ergo carrier. The bridge is high, and it swings and bounces, but quite safe. And I am afraid of heights and was wearing a baby carrier. The view from the bridge is quite scenic. There is plenty of space on the opposite bank for a picnic. We heard that there is a waterfall on the opposite bank, but it is really more of a babbling brook. The "falls" are only a couple of feet high. There are rocks to climb out on further up the river, but we did not try this. We would some back.

Must do hike

By nataliet592 |

Such a beautiful place to hike. Chose to drive closer, the service road is a bit tough but manageable..... don't know if I would drive a car on it, we drove an SUV. The hike is easy and very pretty. Loved the surrounding area. Next time, will plan to stay longer and bring a picnic.

Toccoa River Swinging Bridge

By ce492015 |

This is a very easy hike in the mountains. The trail leads to a swinging bridge over the river. The area across the bridge is very serene. Nice area. Saw people with kids of all ages there. Good family hiking experience with kids and grandchildren.

Great hike for family with children

By bigtony777 |

We visited the bridge with our daughters aged 10 to 13. The road up to the parking near the bridge is quite rough. If you do not have a AWD or 4WD, with decent clearance I would not think about parking along the main road and hiking in. We have a GMC Acadia and did not have any problems, but a car or minivan could have issues. If anyone has motion sickness, be prepared as it can be a really rough drive.

The hike from the parking area to the bridge is great. There are views of the river and it is not long at all before getting to the bridge. If you cross the bridge, you can add as much distance to the hike as you want before turning back around. I will say that the trail on the other side of the bridge is not as exciting and doesn't have great views like before the bridge.

Our family enjoyed the bridge and our hike. We hiked for about an hour and made it to the peak past the bridge and back. We arrived early and it was getting pretty busy when we were leaving around 10:30 am.

Beautiful destination. Rough Road. Long Ride.

By nazghoul2000 |

Once you get there it is a wonderful place for dipping yur toes (or more) in and taking some great photos. We were the only people there for a while.

Beautiful

By Brooke S |

The drive on the dirt road was pretty rough. The short hike & beautiful views were worth it. The bridge is fun and watching everyone trying to make it swing was very entertaining.

Interesting bridge to see

By LQuick1425 |

Nice little hike to the bridge with our 14 & 9 year old. (The path has rocks and roots but is not difficult). We found a spot and played by the river on the other side of the bridge. The road you drive to the trail is very slow. We were in a truck. I think you could do it in a car if you were careful and it wasn’t wet. We got there by mid-morning and it wasn’t crowded. By the time we left a few hours later it was definitely busier. Our family likes a destination to hike to and this one was great!

Great spot

By ALL2008 |

Definitely worth the fairly long dirt road you have to travel down to get to the trail. The path was easy to navigate with a 3 year old. The bridge is pretty close to the beginning of the trail. Our group of 10 really enjoyed this scenic hike!

Fun place to visit

By JLR1016 |

You may have problems finding this location, however, once you do find it, it is fun to explore. There is a little walk back to the bridge and the bridge is fun to walk across. The area around the bridge is very nice and pretty. Fun to go there any season. In the summer you can get in the water, in the fall and winter just a fun hike!

Family Vacay

By Bonnie L |

We weren't sure what to expect with the swinging bridge excursion. The road to get there is bumpy and seems like it lasts forever, but the scenery, bridge and the river are just breathtaking. Definitely worth the bumpy road! It is best to have a large SUV or 4 wheel drive vehicle to get there.

Hiking and Driving Adventure on a rainy day

By LaRae W |

The other reviews are spot-on! This is nice slow winding drive into the woods followed by a hike further down to the bridge. We saw a small waterfall into the river across the bridge. We are not athletic and were able to make the walk down and back up without any trouble.

Nice view- but difficult to get there

By frx1986 |

Not bad- somewhat difficult to find. Not great cell service in this area- and map apps are sometimes inaccurate. Not well marked with signs.

The road to get to the swinging bridge is a rough road- one lane. Cars may bottom out.

The walk to the bridge is not easy. It is 10-15 minutes and there are areas that are rough and step.

Nice views when you get there. There is a mini waterfall on the other side of the bridge which is a great photo opportunity.

Breathtaking views

By Peter R |

Greta place for who likes adventure and great views and does not bother to walk a lot or to drive on a off road trail.
Breathtaking views from in and out of the bridge and a long trail to walk , specially if you decide to leave your car on the paved road and walk to the bridge (would not recommend as it is a off road trail after all).

Beautiful scenery and fun bridge!

By Skrtaft |

The dirt road to this bridge had some rough spots but our Honda CRV made it fine. The scenery at the bridge was beautiful. There is even a small waterfall beside it on one side. The bridge is fun to cross and not scary at all. Very well built. Great place for picture taking. Worth the drive!

Beautiful and a bit rugged to get up the road.

By Suzanne K |

Many of the hardy people will park their vehicle at the beginning of the dirt road and hike on up to the bridge due to the very rough dirt road. It's the last 3/4 mile of dirt road that is not just "bumpy," it is full of very deep potholes! We do not have an SUV, but we braved it with our Hyundai Elantra (!) and took it slow. People walking their way up looked at us like we were nuts (!) but cheered us on. We made it, and pray there is nothing damaged underneath our car. The swinging bridge is wonderful and you can get down to the river and enjoy the rushing water and view. True hikers could spend a whole day here. Give yourself plenty of time, and the experience will be quite special. Autumn is so gorgeous here!

SO much fun!!!!!!

By Rdpage2 |

This was so cool!!! Let me say that the drive is quite a long one and for a good 20minutes we had no idea if we where going in the right direction. It is also a very steep, hilly, off road type of drive. We had a 4 wheel drive truck and did fine, but I was on edge! The walk, hike to the bridge is very nice and easy for anyone. we have 2 kids under 10 and a dog and we all enjoyed it with no complaints. The bridge is neat, beautiful and lots of area to explore! I'd go again!

Fun 2 hour hike for the family

About 40 minutes out of Blue Ridge, this is a great easy family hike. The road to the path however, is best with a all wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle.

- Rent PEDEGO Ebikes (check out Old Dial Road)

- Rent kayaks, paddle boards, pontoons, etc at Lake Blue Ridge Marina (have lunch while you are there and the Dock & Grill)

Great family outing

By crysaskew2018 |

The hike was short and easy. The bridge was not as high as we were were expecting but still beautiful views and the kids loved making it swing and scaring me to death. It was also very nice to be able to get into the water and enjoy the river.

Super doable

By Bbgrl4u82 |

The winding partially gravel road to the bridge requires about 15-20mph and is about a lane and a half wide. There are several blind curves and several wider areas which makes passing or two cars possible.

At the end of the road there’s a short walk on a decent slightly downhill path. There are roots and uneven ground but it was easy to travel to the bridge. The swinging bridge only slightly bounced with normal steps, not too scary for the faint of heart. My daughter jumped and made it bounce more which made her happy. The trip back to my car seemed quicker but it was slightly uphill.

Really Cool and safe

By Maria W |

Safe for pets and walking kids, easy trail. Bring your camara.
Try tubing on the Toccoa as well. Lots of fun.

Beautiful

By familyvac2018 |

We had a wonderful time at the Swinging bridge, hike down to the river was fun, kids had a great time

Beautiful hike...

By StangChik72 |

Nice short hike through the woods to the river. Area does get a little steep at the end, but nothing extreme. Beautiful scenery and bridge was fun to walk across. Recommend to all nature lovers.

Easy Walk, beautiful scenery

By Paige B |

Enjoyed the walk to the bridge. Hike itself isn't difficult at all. We took the grandkids, 3 & 5, and they didn't have any trouble at all.

Easy, flat hike to a suspension bridge

By Rena W |

Easy, flat hike to a suspension bridge over the Toccoa. This would be fun for kids. The drive in was a solid 3 mile dirt road that was in very good shape considering all the rain that the area has had recently. Some sections were narrow and curvy, so caution and care needed. Enjoyable outing for someone with a bad knee that day who couldn't do more strenuous hikes.

Worth it

By Maria |

Worth the drive and short hike. Don’t park on the highway. Take the dirt road (about 20 minutes at 5mph) v the long walk if w/ kids.
Beautiful trail and scenic bridge.

Nice surprise

By lindsaystongelmhc |

We found this gem while driving. We weren't sure what to expect, but we quickly realized we were glad we had a truck because it was a gravel road. It is pretty well maintained, but it is narrow with some big bumps. There are not many places to park at the end. It's a quick and easy hike to the bridge. It's absolutely gorgeous! You can also walk down to the river.

Beautiful Bridge and Easy Hike

By cosmo459sx |

I'm going to give this 5 stars due to the immense beauty of the bridge and the scenery. The hike from the parking area to the bridge is downhill and quite easy for most, maybe .5 mile in total. The drive for 3 miles on the unpaved trail to get to the "parking area" isn't the best. There were some pretty severe washouts that created deep ruts and the trail is very narrow in many areas. I was concerned due to driving a full-size truck if anyone were to come back down the trail heading out. One a few occasions this actually happened and one of us had to back up to a more open area on the trail where both vehicles could pass. In one instance, I had to pull my truck literally an inch away from the mountainside while another vehicle squeezed by with maybe 6" of clearance between the vehicles and only inches to the steep drop off on the side of the mountain. Certainly not a fun drive for those that are less capable driving off-road or have vehicles that are low to the ground. Also, the parking area is really just a series of pull off spots where you can park if you can fit in the areas between trees. Not a parking lot by any means. Make sure you go early and get out before sunset as it would not be fun to be stuck back there. No cell service if one were to get stuck. Just a heads up, but it is well worth the trip.

Fun

By Cassandra J |

It was beautiful drive in. My 4 year old love the walk there to see different trees and animals. The bridge was beautiful.

Great Bridge

By Mel W |

My family and I have been here many times. We love to take a picnic and the grand kids and dogs. They love playing in the creek on the other side. It is also a good camping spot if you like be out away from everything.

Beautiful side trip!

By blueridgefan2018 |

This place is worth taking a side trip! A scenic road (path) to a nice little hike to walk across this swinging bridge. (I'm afraid of heights but didn't have a problem here) Great photo opportunities!

Fave hikes

By Tasha R |

One of the highlights of my trip to North GA was hiking to the Toccoa River Swinging Bridge. While the bridge itself isn’t too swingy, the history is cool and there is so much to do if you’re a nature person. You can climb, hang by the river, have a picnic, hang with your dog, jump on the bridge and go right back to your car, whatever you want. There’s a short hike you can take after a bumpy ride to the head of the trail or a longer hike with less of a ride. I recommend the longer one if you have the time, the shorter one if you’re with family/kids. While I only went for a few hours, I highly recommend making this a day trip. Gorgeous and very zen.

Worth the trip

By Thomas W |

Short drive out of Blue Ridge to a short walk to the river. Cool bridge over the river. Lots of places to hang out and relax.

Worth the Walk

By Rengland123 |

Don't get discouraged by the 3 mile backroad to the trailhead, it is worth the drive and short walk to cross the swinging bridge.Even a hot day was cooler on the shaded trail.

Fun adventure for families

By AmyK |

Down a three-mile, one lane, gravel road is a quick trail to the longest suspension bridge east of the Mississippi and a great little waterfall for kids to explore. There’s also an inlet off of the Toccoa river where there’s no current so they can get in. It’s .5 miles round trip and was no problem for our 5 and 7 year olds. Highly recommended.

Beautiful hike on a beautiful day

By Jeffrey L |

Great hike, beautiful views, took my 80 yr old mother down, to walk the swing bridge. A little difficult in some areas but she made it.

FUN Family experience

By leichelb |

Loved walking to the Swinging Bridge over Toccoa. It is an easy walk in the beautiful woods to a surprisely lovely swinging bridge. Fun for all ages. Sort of hard to find since it is off the main road but well worth the hunt. Our children and grandchildren loved it.

Neat place!

By Jessica Jennings |

Long bumpy road but the bridge was worth it. Just keep driving. We almost turned around once but passed someone and they said it wasn't much further. Short walk to the bridge. Very cool place!

Excellent trip for kids!

By Inspiration816764 |

We have a 4 yr old and the hike was easy for him. The waterfall was beautiful. We would highly recommend!

We'll be back!

By Alicia L |

We seem to hike to the bridge each trip we make to the area. The area past the bridge is fun to explore and any easy place to get down to the water. Parking can be difficult at peak times, so go early to avoid the jam. Great place to take a picnic and find a spot along the water. No tables so pack a blanket.

Nice walk and Nature

By Megan R |

This was a nice scenic stop on our visit in Georgia. The drive to the trail was adventurous. We loved the walk and appreciated the flora and fauna of the area. There was a nice place along the trail to stop at the river to put our feet in. It would have been a great spot for a picnic! The swinging bridge was really neat!!! I would likely visit this area again if given the opportunity.

Very nice!

By Sharon B |

Pretty views from the swinging bridge. If you want to take photos, walk slowly with one foot in front of the other, otherwise the bridge really swings back and forth. After leaving the 2-lane highway you enter a forest road, that has a very deep pothole at the beginning, so stay to the left. We drove a Honda Passport and had no problem. Would not take a lower slung vehicle. It was a bumpy ride but doable. There are places to park in the woods at the end of the 3 mile rocky road, then you walk in the woods another 15-20 minutes and proceed downward at the end to the river and bridge. We only saw 4 people while we were there. It's bumpy, jostling ride at 5 mph, but don't let that deter you. The views from the bridge are pretty and it's nice to get out in nature. We saw about 8 turkeys on the way back.

Great location, careful of GPS directions

By mstrayer |

This is a great local attraction. Warning- do NOT follow GPS directions. We did...mistake!!! GPS (Apple Maps) will take you the wrong way. Take the entrance off of Rt. 60 even though it looks like a driveway. The drive back is quite a distance on a stone road so if you're worried about your vehicle do NOT go.

So much gunnyy

By tonya M |

We went there and had so much funny although I did not do the bridge my sister them did I just stayed in the water rafting I water raft for 2 solid days it was the best time of my life my sister and her husband and my husband they only water raft one day but the next day they wouldn't because they was scared but I would have wrapped for 2 days but I just don't do high so I did not do The Swinging Bridge

Worth it

By Strayedfar |

I was skeptical after reading some reviews, nervous we wouldn't make it up the access road in our Ford Flex, however we gave it a shot and I am so very glad we did! The drive was interesting, not impassible at all so don't let it dissuade you. I saw vehicles of all sorts at the end of the road in the parking area (not spots as others said, but just pull offs). The hike to the bridge was easily navigated for all in our party (ages 41-6 and two dogs). The day was a crisp 40 degrees in December so there was no splashing around in the river. We wished we had packed in a lunch and stopped near the river on either side of the bridge to enjoy a picnic.

Beautiful site

By Twinhitch |

For a nice little hike and great scenery give this a shot. Beautiful and so tranquil - you won’t be disappointed. Uneven terrain but the hike is very easy.

Beautiful

By Melissa H |

The 3 mile drive on the gravel road is a little rough but totally with it. Once you get to the end the parking is tricky so if you see a spot take it. The hike to the bridge is easy. The view on the bridge is beautiful. Definitely with it. Just FYI I tried to get directions with my gps there off of the link here in trip advisor it didn’t work. Actually took me to the welcome center in Blue Ridge which was fine because we were able to get a map and directions from the nice lady there. Overall great time.

Engineering marvel and cool views

By James A |

3/14/20; what a journey to get there, a gravel road for miles as the GPS directions are no longer valid. The GPS entrance is through a gated subdivision and you cannot enter. Look for the Swinging Bridge sign on the RH side of the road before the GPS turn. After the drive the very easy hike is about 10 or 15 minutes and all well worth the journey. The bridge is an engineering marvel and the views are fantastic and a photographers dream.

Cool Bridge

By Flyer789461 |

Kids had a blast walking across this bridge! They had fun playing at the water's edge too. Rough drive up! Would recommend an SUV or 4 WD.

A Beautiful Bridge at the end of a bumpy road!

By ConversationStarters |

Be patient and take it slow on the last three very bumpy miles. Then about a half mile hike and you arrive at the bridge. And yes… it swings! Especially beautiful with the fall colors and the sound of the rushing waters of the Toccoa River.

Wear hiking shoes, bring water and dress in layers in the fall season. Keep your hands on the side rails. There are lots of opportunities to hike around the bridge for some great views. A great trip

vacation

By Chad P |

I loved he swinging bridge very nice.It was a nice place see walking on the bridge was cool the kids loved it.

Beautiful view off the beaten path!

By Jodi P |

My only reason for giving a 4 is the sign on the entrance is only if u are coming from the north. If u come from the south we had so cell service and there were no entrance signs. We decided to walk the 3.5 miles from the highway as there were a couple deep pot holes. Would recommend and suv or truck if driving. Be sure to go to the bathroom before going. No facilities in the area! Beautiful/breath taking views. So peaceful and well maintained!! Definitely recommend stopping. Wear good shoes as even parking close there is a short hike to the bridge itself!

Worth the drive...

By Hunter K |

Very long drive on gravel road in order to reach the trail head. Neat engineering feat considering the location. Added bonus of a small waterfall just after crossing the bridge (off to the left). Beautiful!

Rough Road But Worth It at the End

By Robert R |

We drove about 3 miles over a bumpy, twisty, hilly, narrow, dirt road to get to the parking area and walked maybe a half mile to the bridge. Driving on the road was interesting/challenging since the returning vehicles had to pull to the extreme right side of the hill to allow incoming cars to pass. We drove in a Honda CRV and had to skirt around some deep bumps and large rocks. Definitely a 4 wheel drive and high clearance vehicle road. Bridge was okay - did not swing much but enough. Nice walk/hike/stroll to get to the bridge and there was a nice tree stump carved seat for picture taking along the way. Most of the time was spent driving on the entrance road.

Great views

By Alberto M |

Spent about an hour or so walking around and getting some very cool shots in and around this bridge. Not a bad hike from the parking area.

Must visit

By abthom |

The long bumpy road to get here was interesting! Very worth the drive -- the bridge and surrounding area is lovely and beautifully maintained. Must visit!!

Nice view

By Gary D |

It's a nice view of the river. You better have a vehicle with clearance. the road is 2+ miles in the woods down a road that's rock, mud and clay. But once you make that then it's a short hike to the bridge. It's easy to make a picnic of it.

Girl Scout Fun

By Gatormammie |

Made the adventure to the Swinging Bridge! The road is gravel to get there but we enjoyed the destination. If you enjoy beauty, nature and dipping your toes in the cool water of the mountains this is a great place to go!

Good adventure Beautiful setting

By jackieh8 |

As others have said getting to the bridge is an adventure. You have to go very slow so plan accordingly with your time. For a good part of the 3 miles we were driving less than 10 mph. It is one way but there are areas to pull over so passing oncoming cars is manageable. The road is best suited for a truck or suv but we saw a couple cars. The hike to the bridge isn't too strenuous but it is hilly and there are lots of tree roots. It could be challenging for someone with balance or mobility issues. We went later in the day and it wasn't crowded. Once you get to the end of the road you just pull over and park. The bridge swings but not too much. The scenery is gorgeous. We were glad we make the trip.

So much fun exploring

By winemyst |

Highlight of our trip. It is a bumpy ride down a mountain road, but so worth it. The bridge itself is ok but the views and the area on the riverbanks are amazing. If we go again, I would bring a picnic and blanket and just let the kids play for hours. They loved climbing and exploring.

Quite a rough road but worth it!

By Lasseter4242 |

We found this gem on Trip Advisor and were glad we went. The road is full of pot holes and a bit of trouble meeting an oncoming vehicle with only room for one, but we made it with cooperation of everyone. The hike was short and even though I was a bit hiking challenged, I was able to negotiate it. I am so glad I did.....it was gorgeous. If you can walk a bit, go here. The parking is a challenge...not paved and helter skelter

Warning: Rough Drive to Get There...

By mrm1008 |

Your 3-mile route to the Swinging Bridge is composed of gravel, mud, potholes, and uneven ground, but it is absolutely worth the drive! Just a short hike from the parking area is the bridge over the Toccoa. Beautiful views over the river, popular fishing spot and, as the area is along the Benton Mackaye Trail, there is a cleared area for camping. The ride is an adventure, but important to know what to expect if you have a low-riding car or a vehicle that may not be able to conquer the terrain.

Short hike for an awesome view.

By kbenyshek |

This is an awesome short hike. One bad thing about it is finding the place. I clicked on directions through the TripAdvisor App and we ended up in a Methodist Church Parking Lot. The address listed was wrong. Our GPS took us past the turn off, we decided to trust it, which was a bad decision. We ended up turning around and turning at the sign. We did have an SUV (not 4 wheel drive), which I do recommend. The roads are narrow in places and you do need to be vigilant at the switchbacks. There were times we had to pull over to let an oncoming vehicle to go past. It was a great view and hike after we arrived.

Long drive, shorter walk, well worth it.

By cooterbrown |

Thought we would never get there as the drive is long, narrow, and gravel covered. But are glad we made the trip. Beautiful area. A few kayakers stopping to walk up to bridge. Bridge itself is as advertised. Lots of fun and definitely swings. Larger than photos give it credit.

Wonderful/fun

By GTP |

The owners were wonderful to deal with. Very personable and helpful along with running a professional operation. Being from Vero Beach Florida, it was much different from our streams. First, the views are amazing, and just enough small Rapids to add some thrills. We had kids from 5-13 and everybody agreed it was so worth it.

Wow! What an experience!

By Brenda F |

We saw the sign off the road for the swinging bridge and thought we would try it. We did not have 4 wheel drive and made it fine. Just drive slow on the dirt/gravel road. Were we in awe of the drive to the trail head. It was gorgeous. Longer than we knew it was going to be but worth it. The hike to the bridge was beautiful, too. The scenery from the bridge was so worth the effort of getting there.

Very neat spot, but the drive is ABSURD

By Mike W |

The actual bridge is very cool and the ability for the kids to get in the water and stomp around is a nice bonus. The hike is 1/4 mile and fairly moderate. We had a range of 9 to 50 years old with some of us on the "plus" side and everyone was able to complete the hike.

The reason for 3 stars is because of the absurd drive in. I expected a rough & bumpy road but it was nearly impassable in a few spots, however I was driving a mini van so I'll give a little slack....but seriously such a neat attraction really needs the road improved.

Great spot

By miketr87 |

Roughly drive to the trail head but no problem if in and truck or SUV. Nice, easy, short hike to the bridge which is very nice. Bring your suit and water shoes. Great place to get in the water across the bridge. The middle of the river is awesome. Nice sandy bottom and smooth rocks. The edge can be a bit rough on the feet though. We had a blast here!

Worth the drive

By Dustin D |

My family was questioning me as we drove down the 1.5 lane gravel road to get here, but once we arrived, they loved the bridge and surrounding area. It was worth it and I'm glad we got to see it and walk across!

Easy hike and great views!

By karengRW |

The hike to the bridge and beyond is easy and the temperature is cooler due to the foliage. Only minor drawback is the drive on the windy dirt road with few spots to park once you reach the end. Best bet is to go earlier in the day...we went at 10am and only a few other people were there. On the drive out, we encountered 10 cars coming in.

Beautiful hike.

By Judy29585 |

Short but lovely hike. Road to trail is extremely rough so don't try unless you are in a 4 wheel drive or truck. Bridge is safe and allows a wonderful view of the river.

Kayaking on the Toccoa

By Ana D |

We had a great day on the Toccoa river. We put our Kayaks in at Deep Hole and stopped at the swinging bridge for a lunch break. The area is very pretty and the river view from the bridge is gorgeous. Once rested we continued on to Sandy Bottom. It makes for a great day on the river

Great bridge and exciting ride

By ChevyCat2018 |

Beautiful view of river and mountains. Bridge is really cool. Super short hike to it. My husband’s favorite part was the drive to it. About 3miles of hard terrain. If you have an SUV then yes, you finally get to REALLY use it for what it is for! (and not just to go to the mall). Some reviews mention you won’t make it without an SUV. We saw a Prius, Toyota Camry, and then a vintage 1960s VW bus. So yes, you can make it.

Nice

By Jared C |

It's about 45 mins from Blue Ridge's town, no service so don't get lost lol, but a beautiful view on the way there is a 3 mile gravel road. If you have a smaller car I would advise to be super careful so you take under your car out. Once you get there it's a small hike to the bridge but it's nice with some trails off in different directions

Very cool spot indeed!

By Marielbys M |

We really enjoyed the nature and river here is this area. Makes you feel like you are stepping back in time to the days of Davie Crocket. There is not a lot to do though aside from the river and rapids and walking across, but well worth checking it out.

Unbelievable scenic attraction

By Elizabeth C |

I went on a beautiful fall day when the leaves were in full color
I had a bit of a hard time finding this place. Once I arrived I traveled about 3.5 miles over mildly rugged terrain to get to the bridge. There was a short scenic walk to the bridge where I was able to get some amazing pictures the air was so crisp and clean and the views were spectacular!!

Not worth the drive

By Carrie C |

We were excited to visit the bridge after reading the reviews even though it stated the travel time was long and rough. And, yes, the road is incredibly rough and very long! If you do not like windy roads, then do not take this trip. Many reviews said it was worth it when they arrived at the site, but I highly disagree. In fact, the other 4 adults that we went with said the same thing. All you can do is walk across the bridge and do some light hiking trails. If you are up to drive a long, windy, and ROUGH road, then go for it. Just make sure you have a truck.

Worth the long drive

By Becca B |

Well worth the bumpy ride on the gravel road. Bring your camera and tennis shoes. Lots to explore on both sides of bridge.

late afternoon hike

By Karen S |

Beautiful spot, a must see! The ride in on the forest road was bumpy and dusty but well worth it. Weather was perfect and it was a short hike.

Have the Fun is Finding and Getting There

By jvs_tampa |

This is a must see and do if you even like the outdoors a little bit. Drive can be tough if the road is beaten up but the actual hike to the bridge is pretty short and doable for almost everyone.

Amazing views

By Nomad148493 |

Absolutely love all the beautiful trees and creek as well as amazing swinging Bridge. Very easy hike to the bridge.

Cool swinging bridge

By wpgod722 |

The gravel road is long to get to parking area, maybe 3 miles on a fair to good roadway. The hike to get down to swing is maybe a 1/4 mile at best but be careful with roots ,and uneven surfaces, potential area for a fall. I know ,I did. Well worth the trip I might add, pretty cool spot.

Pretty wonderful =)

By Blair |

Our only suggestion would be for better signage and possibly a port-a-john toilet.
Otherwise, this is a beautiful short hike with an exciting trip across a surprisingly wobbly swinging bridge. VERY bumpy road on the way in.

Short and swingy

By Xflor |

The trail to the bridge was not very long, with a few steep inclines and declines but nothing a beginner hiker can’t do. The bridge is over a pretty river, and it does swing enough that it can be a bit nerve wracking. There are spots around the base of the river to hang out if you wish. The drive in to the trailhead is beautiful but it is a 3 mile, very bumpy dirt road, not recommended for low clearance cars.

Keep going and just do it!

By MTB-Illinois |

That was the longest 3 mile drive ever! Just when it seemed we would never find the trail to the bridge, we did. Short hike through the woods to get to the bridge. Such a cool experience to walk across this swinging bridge seemingly located on a trail to nowhere in the middle of nowhere. It is an absolute, must do experience!

How have I never heard of this

By Marty H |

I live in North Georgia and have spent a good deal of time hiking and exploring in the mountains. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this until now.
It’s a beautiful drive down a forest service road to the trailhead. From there it’s an easy hike to the bridge. Both of my parents are elderly and have mobility issues and made the hike without much trouble. The bridge is an amazing piece of work, created by the Boy Scouts. The bridge is fun for kids and the views are outstanding.

Worth the drive. Bring the dog!!

By Loopy96 |

Nice easy hike that anyone can do! Maybe 1/2 mile hike or less each way. Bring the dogs.
Off 60 past Morgantown and Skeenah Gap. Look for the small sign (see photos) for the turn off. The forest service road is a longer drive than you might expect but dead ends into the parking area so you can’t miss it.

Worth the effort!

By Lou ONeil |

Man, did I have a hard time finding this place! Plugged in the GPS Coordinates listed on their website, and we ended up in a dirt road in a residential area. Good thing there was a police officer close by and gave us the right directions. Once you get there, be prepared for a very long and slow drive up to the parking area... the narrow gravel road is not as bad as I thought, even though it was raining earlier during the day. I was in my All wheel drive G37, and the car was fine. All that hassle was worth it!!!! The swinging bridge and the flowing river was an awesome sight to see!! Plenty of spots to go down the river and actually enjoy the water! Bring towels and change of clothes for the kids, because they would want to play in the river!

Great find

By Cricket E |

Happy we found out about this! It took us about an hour to drive there from the cabin. Then a rough gravel 3 mile drive to get back to the area you park and then a short (less than 10 minutes) hike to get to the bridge. It was well worth it!!!

"Nice Views of the Toccoa River"

By Patricia O |

Just a ten minute walk to the Swinging Bridge. It was easy to find and is worth a visit if you have never been! Bridge is stable and does not rock too bad ...took lots of pictures of the river!

very cool bridge and trails

By Kim |

If you are in Blue Ridge, take some time to visit the Swinging Bridge. It was a little challenging for us to find and the 3- mile gravel road isn't easy but the bridge was unique. Nestled in the National Forest, plenty of trails to explore and play in the river.

Easy hike in, goad we went

By chesa c |

My inlaws undertook this without much planning, so the service road was more difficult than expected had we planned a bit. 3 miles of narrow, "2" way, pitted, dirt road. Little parking area. Small hike in, manageable for my 5yo and 70 yo inlaws. The bridge felt safe, kid loved it, views were great. Such a cute place we could have spent an hour or 2 exploring!! Glad we came! No trash bins, so carry in carry out. Mostly clean except for those that left trash in the parking area. 😠

Rough drive but unique place

By jqzimm |

Off the beaten path. Three mile drive up rough single lane gravel mountain road. Drive slow. The hick to the bridge was not bad, hard to figure out how to get to the bridge not well marked. But the bridge it self was very cool and great view of the river from the bridge. Bring water, not bathrooms or trash cans. very primitive but peaceful

Perfect start to Honeymoon!

By Kyle Gardner |

My wife and I started off our first day on our honeymoon by going to the swinging bridge. We parked a mile from where your GPS takes you (parking area near bridge) just to extend our experience. Beautiful scenery, bridge is a very neat site, also more trails on other side of bridge so it's not just seeing one bridge and then back to car. Would definitely suggest adding this to your list of Must-do's!

Beautiful

By JaylieMae |

It's beautiful and definitely worth the trek. In so far as the road, my 2016 Mustang made it up the road, in the dry season with no problems. I am sure it is weather dependent.

Interesting Attraction to visit in North Georgia

By George R |

I enjoyed visiting the Swinging Bridge, the road back to the site is extremely rough and tight. A Jeep would be the best form of travel. Parking is a problem also. The hike to the bridge is easy unless one has some walking/climbing limitations. Some spots are steep.

Must see if in the area!

By kafue007 |

The drive in was not as bad as some made out to be. The road was bumpy in some sections but just go slow and it was fine. Minivans and small compacts were on the road.
The short walk to the Bridge was not to bad either.
The bridge and surroundings were very pretty. Our Dog walking across the bridge was hilarious as I'm sure it was like walking on Jello. Looks like it would be very popular on a weekend.
I would highly recommend checking it out.

Family Day Trip

By Tony M |

We loaded up the Toyota Highlander in Ellijay and scaled the 3 mile dirt road to the swing bridge. Fun trip!

Cool short trip from Atlanta

By livelife h |

You have to be paying attention to see the sign just in case your GPS goes out because if you miss it you don't keep riding. When we found it it's a rocky ride to get to the parking spot. It's about half a mile to get to the actual Bridge from where you park. The bridge and the water was beautiful. The Swinging is not that bad. Once you get to the other side there trails that you can walk. You can sit by the water and just relax. Definitely a spot to go to if you want a quick getaway

Worth the stop

By Tom A |

The swinging bridge may be a little out of the way but it is worth the trip. Warning, however, the Forest Service road to the parking area is very rough. This is the longest swinging west of the Mississippi. The bridge does swing easily so don't take an open cup of coffee. take It is a short hike from the parking lot to the bridge and you can hike up and down the Toccoa River from both sides of the bridge.

Hideous drive, great attraction!

By LouisLeroy |

This is a really cool narrow bridge that sways over the Toccoa- easy as pie in terms of the hike, but how people drive to the end of the road is beyond me. We have an SUV and had to bail close to a mile before the end because the road had one too many steep climbs with a hairpin turn and huge craters - didnt seem worth losing an axel over but when we tried to turn around we went off the road and everyone had to get out and push. So we bailed on the road and wound up walking an extra mile and a half. Still worth it for the photo op and to see the bridge and climb around the base of the Toccoa.

Easy hike in Blue Ridge

By Crystal |

Drive up to this bridge gave me major anxiety! It’s about 3-4 miles up on a “shared” gravel road. One way in and one way out. A few cars came flying around the corner the same time we were coming around in a Yukon. The hike to bridge was fairly easy and view was nice, but we’ve been to Gatlinburg TN and just felt like it wasn’t worth the drive compared to what we saw and experience in TN.

Great Little Adventure

By GaGirl485 |

It takes about 15 LONG minutes to meander by vehicle from the main road to the parking area. Terrain is dirt/gravel, well-traveled and really not awful. Actually it's part of the fun.
Once you park at the trailhead, the leaf-covered trail is a pleasant 5 minute walk to the suspension bridge.
There are no signs or directions past the entrance at the main road so you have to do a fair amount of guess work, again part of the fun.
The suspension bridge is beautifully situated above a rolling river.
The entire outing takes about an hour depending on how long you choose to hang out.

Know What Your Getting Into!

By Jayjay099 |

We loved our visit:) The bridge and the view is very nice:) It was an overall easy hike for two seniors and our nine year old granddaughter:) STILL, even though it's a 1/4 -1/2 miles to the bridge once you park, the path has many roots and rocks to watch out for as you walk. The trees above the paths kept the sun off you:) Once to the bridge, soooooo many others crossed over and kept hiking, we did not. The dirt road off the main road can be hard to see and find. The entrance is somewhat narrow as is the 3 mile long/ uneven/pothole/ road to the bridge. The road is a lane and a half at best in so many areas, you will have to concede to other drivers to get by each other. I WOULD not attempt this on a day around rain! This road will get ugly with the mud and will probably become as slick as a slide. THERE is no real parking-lot, it's park where you can find a spot. I would say maybe 25 vehicles is the limit. We parked up top, about 50yds from the bottom of the parking area. We drove in with our Chevy Equinox, it was hard at times. Would I take a small car, probably not:( Truck would be my advice:) REMEMBER, Beirut like roads and BIGFOOT like terrain driving through:) Enjoy and exploreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Family Friendly Location

By N2Malinois |

I love bringing friends and relatives that have never seen this place. To me, it's like a prize at the end of a long ride down the Forest Service gravel road, followed by a short hike in the woods. Kids love this place (especially in the summer when they can get in the river and cool off). Be advised though, once you get to the "parking area", it's NOT a paved lot at the end of the road. you're basically parking in the roadway and have to make sure you don't block anyone in. Last time I was there, the road near the trailhead was pretty rutted out. Only high clearance and 4x4 vehicles were able to get all the way to the end. Unless you're planing to play in the water, picnic, or go fishing, there's no other activities here. Plan on combining this visit with 1 or 2 other local sites.

Hiking

By Shannon B |

A drive up a very gravel and bumpy road takes you to the swinging bridge. The hike is easy and beautiful. The bridge is extremely neat and makes for beautiful pictures.

An adventure you don't want to miss!

By BLCDAD |

If you are betweeIf you are traveling east from Blue Ridge on hwy 60, don’t miss this is you’ve never been! A three mile rough road takes you to a parking area where after a half mile walk you can visit the bridge area. It is best to travel the road with a high clearance vehicle, like an SUV; Explorer, RAV5, Rouge, etc. I have seen smaller cars like a Civic or Camry there, but be careful! Across the bridge is a nice picture taking and picnic area. n Blue Ridge and Dalongaga

Nice view and short hike

By lahrdon67 |

The road to the parking area in the middle of the woods may be difficult for a low clearance vehicle, we went with minivan without an issue. Nice view!

Great views

By MzPiclz |

A short drive from our cabin just outside Blue Ridge, GA. The 3 mile drive described in other reviews was not bad as long as you take it slow and are mindful of other drivers. View from bridge is very pretty.

Lovely views!

By Judith R |

Great experience - the bridge does swing! Room on each side for group to hang out. The ride to the parking area is gravel and tight so be prepared to pull over while cars come on the other side. Worth the ride up, and the walk across the bridge and back. Gorgeous views on this sunny fall day.

Bad road, great bridge

By Daniel H |

The forestry road to the swinging bridge has already been highly publicized on these posts. It is hard on your vehicle suspension. But the bridge is quite impressive and the hike and area around the bridge are awesome. But note, if the tiny parking area is full, you'll have to back down and hike up to the trail head. Also, be careful on relying totally on your GPS as there is another "swinging bridge" far to the east.

Beautiful

Great day out with the grandkids fishing tubing and just enjoying the beautiful views you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy nature at its best.

Up in the area to usher in 2018. My wife did a search for things to do and found this as #2. I would certainly put it 2 if not 1 depending on your wishes for physical activity. Road up is a bit bumpy, but our truck had no issues. If you are driving a low sitting sedan, you can go, but the drive will be slow due to ruts and bumps along the way. Parking is limited but possible. Just be patient. The walk to the bridge is about 100 yards. Not a bad hike at all. Certainly worth going if you like the outdoors, scenery, and a short hike!!

Spring Break 2019

By Angela F |

The kids thought it was to be a large swinging bridge but it wasn’t that big. They did like the drive (adventurous) to and from the falls hike area. The bridge did give a great view of the falls and the area around it was nice for hanging out and having a picnic.

Getting there is fun

By travelnowandagain |

We enjoyed everything about this place. The drive up is a lot of fun. Easy hike to the bridge and the views of the river are perfect. Some great places to camp as well. I already want to go back.

Do it

By John S |

Great sight off of a short trail (good for children). Some folks note the rough, dirt road in (it's really not too bad) but that's part of the experience!

wasnt what we expected but a nice bucket list item to check off.

By Donnita W |

We went in November, so at least we got all the fall leaves to enjoy. The switchbacks make a 4 mile trip about 30 to 45 minutes. There is no parking at the end. People just park their vehicle at the end of the road. It is widened somewhat but definitely not a parking lot per se. Its a short farely even hike to the little bridge. Bridge sways a bit when you walk over it. Its not very high up and not long at all. For some reason we thought it would be higher and longer. You can continue to hike once over bridge. we only went a little ways and turned around since it was off and on raining and we didnt want to get caught in it. Be careful on switchbacks, alot of younger visitors in trucks and SUV's who drive faster then you should on a narrow gravel road in the mountains.

" a' bumping and a' swinging"

By ladybanks |

This bumpy little 3 mile road did not disappoint...we were looking for a quite, wooded , enjoyable little unpaved road that encouraged the 4xwheel drive to be engaged on the truck. At the end of the road was a easy hike to this beautiful but sturdy swinging bridge. It made for a nice afternoon excursion from Blue Ridge.

Worth a visit, but difficult to get there

By worldtraveler952015 |

Nice experience and views, but the pathway up is all dirt and windy. And it is not signed well so you aren't sure if you can park somewhere or not. But it is worth a trip. Not too much to see though, unless you walk on some pathways, but it felt a bit dangerous because we were alone and nobody was there.

Gorgeous location with outdoor/indoor dining

By mamagold |

The best trout I ever had straight from the river the restaurant is on...cannot wait to return. Chef DAVID is a lovely young man and eager to please and they are pet friendly.

A Must See Site

By Set_to_Go60898 |

This was the highlight of our trip to Blue Ridge, but the three miles of bumpy road, parking, and hike to the bridge were challenging at best. The bridge was cool to walk across, and the river and hiking areas were very picturesque.

Family fun!

By emilyrujones |

The long bumpy road is real. :) But worth it. The swinging bridge is easy to get to and worth seeing. My kids enjoyed wandering around the edge of the river (which is lush!) even more than the bridge! :)

Great place to visit

By chiefjack2018 |

Really nice place. Great views. River is nice. plenty of hiking around. In fact the Benton Mc kaye Trail goes over the bridge. At certain times of the year there can be problems with the road.

Ehh... Ok.

By Bossytypex3 |

First of all... Don’t use Apple maps - will take you entirely the wrong way. Second, make sure you’re prepared for a long bumpy ride. It was something I wasn’t prepared for. Decided to make my way to the bridge in my Lexus IS250. Worst mistake ever. There’s no paved roads, potholes, barely wide enough for one car & so many branches. I felt like my new car was going to fall apart. So just prepare yourself for about a 3 mile ride driving at about 10/15mph. Third, there isn’t much parking. Just kinda park off to the side. Wasn’t terrible but it’s a little walk into the woods until you actually get to the bridge. Prepare yourself for that and watch where you walk. Once you get there, it’s pretty nice. I’ve been to quite a few swinging bridges in the US and this one was a good one. So yeah...... It’s not a terrible place to go, but just wouldn’t take the elderly or youngins... or a nice car.

Rough, VERY rough road

By Carol H |

The three mile dirt road leading to the bridge was done in our Hyundai Elantra and it was rough going...twists and turns with pot holes. It is doable...wish we had a jeep. On the bright side, the hike to the bridge was very short and our three year old did fine. People who are unsteady and have mobility problems may find hiking over tree roots and rocky terrain with dips and rises a challenge; also, the suspension bridge does sway which is not optimal for those with mobility issues. Because it is only a ten minute hike, the trail is great for children. Beautiful views of the river from the swinging bridge. After reaching the other side of the bridge there is a small clearing. Be aware that there are flying insects that bite (sting). My husband had one enter under his sweat shirt. The three year old let out a loud yelp and cry when he was bit. Overall we enjoyed time in "the wild."

Adventure lurks just below!

By Mark T |

This bridge is fantastic! It's rustic (and "swinging") enough to feel quite adventurous as you cross it, but it's clearly safe enough not to be concerned. It hovers above the beautiful cool waters below, which can also be accessed on either end of the bridge. There are fantastic photo opportunities to be had from above and below. Take the kids with you, only if you are confident they will not wander. The hike in to this can be difficult for some. There are not paved trails, so wheelchairs, strollers, etc are not going to make it, unfortunately. The drive in can also be a bit sketchy. Parts of the "road" can be washed out or rutted out due to rain, storms, and traffic. Be cautious. Highly recommend using only a 4WD vehicle to access.

Great Hike for out of shape people!

By MegStewart |

This is a very short hike and beautiful scenery. Takes a while to get there but it’s worth the drive. You really need an SUV or truck to get down the last 3 miles. Beautiful spot.

A must see, kids loved it

By bulldog44 |

A must do hike when in the area, take the trailhead at the road or drive a few miles up the gravel road and park a the top. It’s a pretty popular site so you may have to
Wait to get across the bridge. It’s well worth it!

Beautiful views of the Toccoa!

By Elizabeth D |

The swinging bridge is beautiful and has beautiful views of the toccoa river from it! Be sure to explore the other side of the bridge. There is a small cascade of water (I wouldn't really call it a waterfall) from a small stream that you can cross on foot or you can go further up the path and around to the other side. Explore and have fun!

From the highway, you go about 20 minutes along a bumpy dirt road. Watch for other cars. I recommend taking an SUV. Where the road ends, just park and follow the foot trail for about 7 minutes to the swinging bridge. I would plan for the whole experience to take at least an hour from the time you get to the dirt road.

Remarkable Bridge

By xmasangel |

Beware of the 3 mile roadway from the main road to the bridge. It is very rough and narrow. Use 4WD if possible or be very careful.
The bridge is great and some families were swimming in the river at that point.

Short hike, good for beginners

By shannon b |

As in many other reviews, the road to the trailhead is unpaved, rough, and full of switchbacks. That being said, it is a pretty drive. The hike to the bridge is steep in some places but easy enough to navigate. If you aren't steady on your feet, take a walking stick. We had fun. Our dogs did too!

Great wood work

By Global31473 |

when you are arrive at entrance of the park be prepare for 3 miles on pump Road.. The bridge herself it’s hard work of art well done ... fantastic architecture work...Nice place for pictures ...see the nature and depends of the location you can play around in the water... have different trails to take..

Beautiful Bridge

By Jenna Bold |

Absolutely beautiful, I went with my parents for the day. The 3 mile drive to the parking area was long, but worth it. The trails are well maintained, I could spend hours here.

Beautiful

By Lynn D |

The Toccoa Swinging Bridge is a beautiful place to visit. The walk to get to the bridge is easy for seniors and small children. Once you have crossed the bridge, there are trails along the water and many places to have a sit down on the ground picnic. One of my favorite places in Blue Ridge.

Cars can make it, but bring a truck/Jeep/suv!

By Brunson Wales |

This place is off the beaten path...exactly 2.9 miles of rough dirt road drive and a 1.2 mile hike off the main road. There were cars/vans that made it, but who knows what kind of damage happened to them. Plus some places are very narrow. Outside of the trio in, this was a nice place to get in the water if you want, Especially with teenagers.

Fun to bounce the kids

By jarstr |

This is a short drive outside of Blue Ridge, then a 3 mile bumpy road (but you can do it in a car - we saw a couple of cars in the parking area) to the trail head. A short hike gets you to the bridge. A pretty area. Good place for a picnic. If you jump up and down you can shake the bridge - which is fun for the kids.

Best built swinging bridge I have ever seen

By Lisa_in_TN |

This is not your ordinary swinging bridge. It is a suspension bridge with the towers made of massive logs. It also has many stabilizers which, while it still moves as you walk on it, keep it from being so wild that you feel dizzy. I am afraid of heights, yet had no problem walking across this one.

Saw sign and stopped

By r0n1951 |

Accidentally saw the sign and made the trek up the Forestry road with is exactly 3 miles. Then a half mile or less easy hike to a wonderful swinging bridge over the rapids. Worth the trip. Probably not a great drive for a small low car. Beautiful and worth the effort.

Beautiful bridge and views!

By Jrmotorsports |

What an awesome opportunity to see if you are ever in Blue Ridge! Built in 1977 and amazing to experience. Yes it really does swing and the kids had a great time not just on the bridge but dunking their feet in the Toccoa River too. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it at the edge of the river. Drive up was a little crazy and definitely an adventure even with a 4x4 but well worth it.

Awesome experience

By Hellrock |

The bridge was a nice easy walk from the parking area. It was well structured and I felt totally safe. The view was incredible and the water was clear.

Adventure awaits

By David C |

This swinging bridge is actually a part of the Benton McKaye trail which answers the question of "why do we need a bridge way out here?". It's about 15-20 minutes outside Blue Ridge. The road up (Forest service road 816) is not suited for low profile vehicles. My Subaru did just fine but would have felt better in my Jeep. It's a 3.5 drive up FSR 816 and then you have a free for all parking area; if your car fits it's a parking spot. The hike to the bridge is nice and well kept (since it's the BMT). It's only 2 tenths of a mile to the bridge so nothing too long or strenuous. I saw several small children making the trek. The bridge itself is a foot traffic only suspension bridge and has beautiful views and access to the Toccoa River. The area and trails surrounding the bridge make it a cool hang out not matter what time of year. Make the trip outside of town and enjoy the adventure.

Enjoy being a kid again

By Jason |

Loved the short 1/4 hike and the area is beautiful not to mention a swinging bridge brings out the child in you, but be cautious because the drive in is brutal. There are 4 tough spots and a lot of people but I still would highly recommend it. Just be ready to wash your car after

Very nice area for hiking and pictures

By candygirl1972 |

We went to Blue Ridge for Thanksgiving and the swinging bridge was on our list of things to do. I had read about the dirt road and I was a little nervous about it. Let me start by saying that please don't let that be the reason you don't visit. Yes, if you have a truck its way easier to travel on that bumpy road but we saw plenty of cars that weren't trucks too. You just have to go even slower. There's not really a parking lot on top. Everyone just parks in the next available space. Probably about 15 cars or so fit. It's a short hike to the bridge but you must watch your step between tree roots and rocks. Battling the terrain is worth it. The bridge is really nice and the river below calls for some awesome pictures. And yes, the bridge really does swing. The kids will love that. My recommendation is not waiting till it's dark to leave because of the dirt road and sometimes you need to move the car to the side for someone coming in the opposite direction. It was a wonderful experience, so glad we did it, but once was good for me.

Rough road beautiful nature

By R. P. |

Glad I brought my F150 for this trip. It made for a fun off road experience. The road is tight and required a lot of pulling off to the side to let other vehicles pass. Just a short walk from the trail head to the bridge. It was amazing. I would recommend this trip for anyone that doesn't have walking disabilities.

Free Fun

By Southerngirlfoodie |

This is better for teens not younger children. Path is a little primitive. Bridge is neat and the view beautiful. I don't suggest taking a car. Great for a nature lover and hike isn't horrible.

Just Beautiful!

By Savys_Girl |

Got to visit the bridge during our recent stay in Blue Ridge. The weather actually cooperated and stopped raining long enough for us to get there, snap a few pics and get back to the car. This is the longest swinging bridge east of the Mississippi River at 260'. Off Hwy 60, the road is a rough 3 miles in to the parking area. The hike to the bridge is not strenuous.

Cool bridge

By Duckygirl2012 |

I believe we may have entered from the wrong side as it seemed to take forever to drive to the parking area. We were the only ones there on a Friday afternoon. The hike is short and easy and well worth it to walk on the bridge

Must See visit in Blue Ridge/North Georgia

By Nancy L |

The swinging bridge is a great side-trip along with the whole Blue Ridge/Toccoa trip. You can actually feel it swing as you cross, which is somewhat terrifying - but really great. This is NOT recommended for dogs. Let the dog run around below and play in the water while you cross :)

Peaceful and neat!

By Betsy H |

It was a beautiful spot with the roaring & sparkling river flowing underneath. It was neat to see the bridge.

Such a great destination!

By vratlanta |

Go early! (before 9:30 am) and hike down a easy trail to the famous swinging bridge! The area around the bridge is great for photos, picnics and enjoying the amazing views of the river. You can continue on the "white" blazed trail after the bridge, but it does not circle back. Our dog and teenage boys thought it was really cool! The last 3 miles driving to the trail is dirt road but our SUV made it with no problem!

need to see

By rodgerk943 |

the swinging bridge is a wonder to behold, seeing this big beautiful bridge out in the middle of no where's ,but it is part of the McKaye trail ,not a bad walk out to it.worth the walk

Great spot

By Sherrie K. |

Great spot to hike and play in water! Two ways to approach the bridge. Bridge itself is very sturdy but still just scary enough to get your heart rate up!

Enjoyable Day

By Chris F |

We've been to many places around Blue Ridge area and this one was very enjoyable. The drive up the dirt road can be a little hairy because it is a single lane in many spots. The walk to the swing bridge is not too bad. We located a couple of spots around the creek that look like they would be good fishing holes. We are going to give it a try in the next few weeks.

Short Hike for a grand reward

By Shelley I |

So much fun to take the dirt road to the simple parking area, and then a very easy short hike. This will land you at a perfect wide river and the terrific suspension bridge.

Surprise favorite place!

By Amber L |

We decided to "swing" by here before driving home and were so surprised at how cool this place is. We actually decided to park down the road and walk the rest of the way up to the bridge. It was a lovely walk and was a highlight of our trip!

Fun

By Robert T |

We really enjoyed this short hike with our dog, especially being able to soak our paws in the cool river! The dirt road to the parking area is very ROUGH, lots of holes to dodge & tight turns. We made it in our minivan, but it was not easy.

Tubing

By Nana4lnza |

Am most list my life! No assistance getting on tube ! Crashing into trees please get paddle of stick to help guard thru. Wish I was aware of dangers .. disappointed no spotters ... tried to tie on to party was difficult getting on tube once you feel off .. scary with young children

worth the effort

By DD2PalmBeachGradens |

worth the effort to get there .. The road in is a bit tricky but we there there might be a different route on the other side with parking. nice hiking around there.

Wonderful short hike on the BMT

By Monica H |

My husband, daughter and I took our small, older pup for a walk along this trail and had a great time! The trip was not too challenging and the scenery was beautiful.

Family adventurw

By Momma Cat |

The road to the trail is tough. 20 minutes of rocky and winding roads. Not for the faint of heart. Once get to the trail it’s and easy and fun one for family. Bridge is awesome and view is breathtaking

Fun bridge, beautiful area

By GeorgiaFamily |

The bridge itself is a fun experience. It doesn't move a whole lot unless even one other person is on the bridge, too--and then it's got a lot of movement. It reminded me of trying to walk down the aisle of an airplane when there's sudden turbulence. We walked back and forth a number of times--partly for the fun of it and partly for the view, which is fabulous. Lots of places to hike and explore on both sides of the river. I plan to visit again in the summer so that I can get into the water. Lovely!

Great day, easy hike

By bertha t |

The bridge was really fun to cross and great for photos, but walking around and near the River was a lot of fun as well.

Really Fun and Easy Hike *winding roads, muddy after rain*

By Jiayi C |

My family and I took out minivan on a trip from Florida up to Blue Ridge Georgia and this was one of the destinations that we visited. I recommend to those that are using a GPS to use Google maps rather than the maps app with the iPhone, Google maps saved us about 30 minutes with the directions because it led us to smaller roads up the mountains. We went on a day after it had been raining and we saw a car get stuck on the side of the road as we were going up, but we had no issues though we did get a little nervous after seeing their car. The directions led us straight to a dirt parking lot right before the short hike to the bridge. The hike was very easy, not strenuous at all, we saw people and dogs of all ages. The bridge is fun and has a beautiful view. Kids can play in the water underneath the bridge and we saw families having picnics by the water too. Overall a very nice experience, the drive up is definitely worth it.

Nice bridge

By Julie Alexander T |

We parked at the main road and hiked up the forest trail. The incline was steep at times and wound around the ridge line to get to the bridge. It took us about 3 hours to hike 3.5 miles. The trail is dirt with small rocks about 2 ft to 3 ft wide. A large 3-4 ft long snake ran across the trail about 1 ft in front of us. We hiked with a 30 yr old and his dog. They were much faster than us 50 yr olds. The suspension bridge was cool and swings when walk on it. We walked back to our car on the dirt road. It was much easier than the trail. It was a hard hike and good exercise but you don't really see anything along the trail until you get to the bridge. Unless you want the exercise, I'd drive up the dirt road and park close to the bridge. It was a very pleasant day.

Another great attraction near Blue Ridge

By chipr68 |

This is another great attraction in the surround Blue Ridge, GA area. The service road to get there isn’t too. Although it’s bumpy and narrow in some areas, it’s definitely tall doable in any vehicle, and there is plenty of room for oncoming traffic. The road ends at the trail to get to the bridge. Once you park it’s just a short 10/15 minute walk to the bridge. The bridge is very cool and there areas on both sides of the river to relax and take it all it all in. You can easily spend a couple hours relaxing to the sounds of nature. This is the perfect way to spend a couple hours or more in the relaxing atmosphere!

A challenge worth doing

By PPJGPJ |

The one lane three mile forest service road to the swinging bridge was absolutely beautiful. We were lucky we did not meet any other cars along the way. The muddy parking area is about a half a mile from the bridge. The hike had one steep area that was slippery, root filled and uneven just before the bridge. It required care to navigate and was a little tough going back up. Good hiking shoes are a must. The bridge is amazing and the rapids of the Toccoa River are stunning. This is one of the best memories of our visit to Blue Ridge.

Me and my husband brought our four boys and one daughter

By rachaelwilson84 |

Awesome! Must let your kids get out and get some forestry in their bones! Worth the gravel road up to the top.

Pleasant walk

By Nicole L |

The bridge is quite short, but for those who don't actually like that swinging sensation, it's very stable.

The three-mile gravel road to get to the bridge is only one lane wide, which makes things interesting for passing. It's also pretty rough. I wouldn't suggest you take your Lexus, but you'd be fine with a standard SUV or pick up.

We didn't stick around long, and I wish we'd spent more time there. Parking is a bit of a nightmare but the short hike down to the bridge isn't strenuous. The river itself is lovely and provides some good photo opportunities. No washrooms anywhere nearby.
