The weather was fantastic. It was sunny and warm as we cruised the fjord. We saw tons of whales going through the beginning of the fjord and got up close to the glacier because there was less ice floating in the water and it allowed the ship to sail closer.

We got to see the glacier up close on the cruise ship. Viewed the melting glacier and ice falling into the water.

it was a bright day, windy and cold but nice weather.
the captain told us we were 1mn away from the glacier. it was breathtaking and majestic.
must visit.

This was part of our cruise itinerary. We sailed the Carnival Miracle on their first trip back after covid! This portion was majestic and mind boggling and must be experienced to be appreciated!

We went through the Tracy Arm Fjord area on our cruise ship Queen Elizabeth. We saw stunning scenery and multiple glaciers along the way. The wildlife was spectacular and amazing. Would love to return on a smaller vessel to explore more of the Fjordland that the large ship couldn't reach.

Our cruise ship headed up tracy ford about 5am... early...and what a wonderful 5 hours. Icebergs floated past us. The ship went so slow it was quiet and peaceful. Saw Bears, Mtn Goats, Eagles.

One of the most beautiful places I have ever been. It was an amazing cruise, at one time there must have been 50 to 60 whales along side our ship entering and exiting Tracy Arm Fjord. It is a place you can wear out a camera, every way you look is another perfect photo opportunity. This needs to be on every ones bucket list.

Viewed the glacier on a Princess cruise to Alaska and although the Fjord was scenic we traveled up at night for a brief view of the glacier. The trip back was very adequate but I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see more of the glacier

Traveling on Windstar, we were able to cruise within a couple of miles of the glacier and then took zodiac boats closer. What an amazing experience! Lots of calving activity (icebergs breaking off into the water) which was quite thrilling but a sign that the warm weather is definitely contributing to the degradation of this glacier.

Took a small boat trip off our cruise ship. We were able to get right up to small waterfalls as well as both glaciers

The Disney Wonder traveled up the Tracy Arm Fjord to see the Dawes Glacier. A naturalist on board explained what we were seeing and pointed out wildlife on the shore. As the ship approached the glacier, the crowd went quiet. I think everyone was in awe to see the natural wonder.

First off....don't let cloudy weather scare you away from this trip. JUST DO IT!
This was our favorite part of our visit to Alaska EASILY! The blue color of the ice bergs was stunning. The water changes to a green when you get closer to the glacier.
We got to spend about 90 minutes at the glacier and saw lots of it falling into the water. its a very loud sound for sure.
You will probably see some wild life. We saw a grizzly, a humpback whale, and of course lots of seals.

Sailed along toward the glacier and the views were fantastic. Saw icebergs of all sizes and the colors were something go see. We got up at 4 in the morning and the water was so still it made the mountains and icebergs look like they were being reflected in a mirror. Never got really close to the glacier but it was due to safety by the captain so we got to about 5 miles from the actual glacier which was disappointing but understandable.

We signed up for the catamaran excursion from our Princess cruise ship and we boarded the catamaran boat directly off the cruise ship at he beginning of the Tracy Arms Fjord. After reaching near the northern part of Sawyer Glacier, the catamaran slowed down and maneuvered carefully around the chunks of glacial ice floating in the water. The ice chunks range in size and color. The blue of the thick older ice was spectacular. We spotted land animals off the shoreline. We were able to spot a black bear and bald eagles . We also saw a seal sunbathing on a piece of floating ice at this time. After spending time at the northern part of Sawyer Glacier that we could not get too close to because of ice, our catamaran headed to the southern part of the glacier where we got very close to the icy wall of this glacier and saw some of the ice breaking off the glacier. We took a littler tour to the ice falls and our captain Jess brought us so close we could feel the spray of the falls. Then we saw a sea lion colony with a lot of sea lions swimming and playing. Next we went past Stephens passage and sighted 2 humpback whales. After passing Grand Island, we were fortunate to spot some Orcas before ending our excursion at Juneau. A well worth 6 hour excursion operated by Allen Marine Tours. ..

A fabulous day exploring Tracy Arm and the Sawyer Glaciers. Excellent service and breathtaking scenery. We saw harbor seals, seal ions, eagles and oyster catchers along with a brief appearance of a humpback. South Sawyer calved some which is always awesome to experience! Thank you for a great day Merlin, Nick and Captain Dan! Highly recommend!!

My husband and I loved this trip. We boated out to the Tracy Arm Fjord and was amazed at the view of the Glacier and the beauty of the area.

The most impressive thing I have ever seen. You will not forget hearing a glacier calve, seeing sea lions resting on the floating ice and the amazing blue glacier.

We had an overcast day but that didn't damper the spirits of the crew! Sarah, Mya and Mikaela were "THE TRIO!" running the tour. We learned so much from their energetic narrations about the ice bergs, glacier, fjord, whales, harbor seals, and the five salmon. Sarah slowed way down to get better views of many things. The team interacted seamlessly to make this tour one of the best during our Alaskan stay!
THANK YOU

We arrived by cruise ship to stunning views, sunny skies and the most amazing glacier.. seals sat on small ice particles by the ship..

This was another amazing place to visit. We couldn't get too close as our cruise ship was big, but the icebergs we did see were amazing.

I think I had expected to see great glaciers calving, and enormous cliffs of blue crystal ice. Our cruise ship edged its way slowly down the fjord, and we saw huge mountains of dirty snow with intermittent waterfalls along with chunks of ice floating in the sea. The captain slowly turned the ship 180, then back and headed back out to the passage. Done.

Absolutely breath taking beauty. Mother. Nature at her Best. Our cruise ship expert on board informed us all on how the ice was eroding on a daily basis due to climate change. We actually heard the thunderous crunch of ice breaking away, and a huge chunk come crashing down. Amazing to watch.

We weren't sure we get in since the week before ice sheets fell from the Sawyer Glaciers and blocked travel for many vessels. We got lucky, and it was breathtaking. The water is a stunning aqua marine color and the ice pieces floating are blue.

We have been on a few Alaska cruises and this is the first thing we look for, if the cruise is not going to Tracy Arm we are not interested. It is long and narrow like the Fjords in Norway. Peaceful and amazing.

Not gonna lie, we watched the entire thing from the hot tub. Incredible views! The fjord is definitely worth seeing if you can

Tracy Arm Fjord looks absolutely magical. It is close to Juneau. Must try Float planes from Juneau to access it.

It was chilly and misty as we glided along with the icebergs. Green trees, mountains, snow, waterfalls and quiet. Just what you hope a fjord in Alaska will be. Not much in the way of wildlife this time, but still beautiful.

Because we were on a National Geographic Cruise, which Is a smaller cruise ship, we were able to get within several hundred yards of this amazing glacier! We sat in a Zodiac boat appreciating nature and all her beauty. We saw parts of the glacier fall and waited for a large piece to break off since we could see the crevasses, but time ran out. Hopefully others visiting after us got to see this amazing experience.

We cruised on the Carnival Legend in July. We spent most of our second day enjoying the views of this Fjord. Icebergs floated everywhere, the water was such a beautiful turquoise color, and whales kept popping up to awe us. Really a natural wonder.

From the first glimpse of the fjord with glacier I was stunned!
This turned out to be one of the highlights off our Canada trip ( in Alaska)
Getting close to the glacier we got the most fantastic view of the falling down in the sea!
We even saw some huge isblocks falling down creating huge waves!
An absolutely fantastic view- and the highlight off the Alaska cruse!

This was so pretty. Blue ice every where. You can see the layers of ice where if has been pushed toward the ocean. If you're lucky, you'll also see seals floating on ice blocks and goats on the mountain sides. Very serene.

Stopped by on a cruise ship. Were glad we paid extra to take the excursion to get closer to the Glacier. We were able to get about a quarter mile out and happen to see a large piece of glacier come crashing down. The cost his high to take an excursion off a Cruise Ship but it was defiantly worth it. Done come all this way to see it from 1.5 miles away.

Windstar Cruises and the small ship took us right into the fjord. With the expedition crew onboard we had Zodiacs and kayaks. We were able to kayak through the ice and near enough to the glacier to feel the waves when the glaciers were calving. Everything about being in that fjord was absolutely beautiful. Huge mountain sides extending up out of the fjord with snow-covered tops and several other glaciers peaking out from different valleys. From the water up to the clouds it was a natural beauty. Would do it again anytime.

The pictures most people see of Tracy Arm Fjord simply don’t capture the true beauty of this place. The is somewhere that must be seen and experienced to truly understand the beauty of nature. Our cruise ship arrived around 1 pm, we arranged an excursion that would take you from the ship onto a much smaller boat to experience the fjord up close and personal. The bigger cruise ship can’t get up to the face of the glacier and as close to waterfalls that the excursion boat can. Expect to see mountain goats, eagles, seals and the occasional whale. The boat even brought on glacial ice for people to touch.

this was a wonderful sight for any one to see at any age **** Bar the naturalist who went on a political rampage though out her presentation**** Sorry to say it is hard to have to listen to it threaded thru out her review...WHEN we came in thousand of miles to see

Our cruise ship captain traveled up the Fjord and got us as close to the glacier as he safely could. The turquois water and Tiffany blue ice were absolutely beautiful. The narration on board by Naturalist Brent Nixon added interest as well. What an incredible morning!

I live in Juneau. I recommend this excursion to ANYONE (including myself!). Our family group of 14 traveled there today (July 14, 2019). We saw a mountain goat nanny with her kid, approximately 100 harbor seals on ice floes, two separate pods of orcas, and South Sawyer Glacier. This is a "tidewater glacier", which means that its terminus is in the salt water. Tracy Arm is a fjord, with vertical rock walls that tower 3000 feet above and up to 1200 feet below the water. The glacier calves semi-regularly, and, while we were there, it did so only a little bit. However, we DID witness a couple "shooters". This is an occurrence caused when a large piece of the glacier breaks off UNDER WATER and shoots up without warning to the surface; it is spectacular to witness.
The excursion with Adventure Bound on one of their three boats is an all-day journey and was well worth the price of $170.01 per adult and $104.04 per youth. Fortunately, we are "locals", and were given a slight discount because of it ($153.77 and $93.89).
If you pre-order, they will have sandwiches, drinks, and snacks for you, or you may bring your own.

We boarded the excursion boat from our cruise ship. Not only is Sawyer Glacier amazing, we saw seals on icebergs, bears climbing down the mountains, huge roaring waterfalls and enjoyed a Glacier Margarita. This is a MUST DO

We cruised the Tracy Arm Fjord on Jun 6, 2019 aboard Holland America Amsterdam. As we approached the fjord, we were excited to see a number of gray whales. Once in the fjord, we enjoyed the scenery, including huge bright blue icebergs.
However, once we neared the end, there was a large Carnival cruise ship ahead of us pretty much blocking our view of the glacier. The Carnival ship was not close to the glacier at all. Our ship hung around for quite awhile, but the other ship remained blocking our view.
We realized why the Carnival ship was staying so long when we noticed the return of smaller excursion boats to the Carnival ship. The Carnival ship was still there when our ship finally turned around and headed out of the fjord.

this was fantastic. Again the beauty of the sparkling white ice against the deep blue shades we were fortunate enough to get up and close to the ice mounds. we woke up super early to ensure we didnt miss this fantastic views. It was pouring rain but not one person slept in. after the major views we all saw on deck, the cruise liner turned around and I happened to go back out and from the side of the boat I saw an even closer view. forever grateful that I went back out again whilst everyone was in trying to stay warm. truly magical

Alaska at it’s best! Loved seeing the glaciers, waterfalls and the floating icebergs. The water was as smooth as glass!

This is just amazing! One of the best experience of our lives! We did a cruise with Holland and America (Amsterdam Boat). We were lucky and had amazing weather! No rain at all. It was sunny and we spent a lot of time on the decks to admire the glaciers!

About a 2 hour trip to the Tracy Arm, two glaciers to look at and tons of very large icebergs! Waterfalls, whales, seals, you name, you’ll probably see it! We had a great day

We loved the ice bergs and the glacier while we were on the Grand Princess. It was raining and the cold wind was blowing but we were transfixed at the rail watching as we slowly cruised through the Fjord.

We woke at 6.00am to open our balcony curtains to see a small iceberg floating at the side of the ship. For the next 3 hours we were spellbound and the views caused a massive emotion in my wife. The size of ice broken from the glacier varied in size from a small car/shed to a garage or small house. Amazing. Photographs provide a reminder but the minds eye can only appreciate what you have seen. The scenery all the time complimented the views of the ice. When we as close as we could get due to the ice-flow the ship was turned around so that we could view the glacier, through binoculars, but no ice broke off whilst we watched, unfortunately.

If you make to Alaska on a cruise or are in the area to visit you must go and visit this area. The views are fantastic and air is so clean and fresh.

The rocks on each side of the passage WOW beautiful and large! Waterfalls coming down all over, I think my camera was obsessed with these, amazing! Beautiful, beautiful.

Great tour. Staff was excellent. Esp Captain and naturalist. Amazing sunny day. Saw grey and humpback whales, porpoises, seals, bears and eagles. Glaciers—both North and South Sawyer—were a once in a lifetime experience. Tour lasts 7 hours but is well worth it. This boat gets to 1/4 mile from South Sawyer. .

This is a great place to visit on a zodiac as you can get close to the glacier. It is Alaska at its best.

I've been fortunate to travel around the planet and see nature's spectacular offerings, but the Alaskan cruise offered a new high. Typically not a cruise ship guy, I've traveled alone to over 40 countries on photo and writing ventures and sought out the unusual and exotic. When invited to bring my family on an Alaskan cruise with a friend's family circles, I was a bit reluctant. Man was I in for a surprise. The NCL Captain added an unexpected jaunt up the Tracy Arm Fjord to our cruise. And the glacial waters led us to a spectacular glacier facing us head on like the ultimate end of the road less traveled. The calm yet extraordinary power of this glacier was overwhelming. We sat for an hour in awe, taking in this time capsule of beauty. There truly are no words worthy to reflect this corner of our planet. You must simply go.

At first we saw whales, then icebergs. The views from the boat were great. Allen Marine tours had a well informed crew.

Cruised up Tracy arm in our cruise ship The fuse are spectacular. waterfalls steak close into the water the icebergs the different colors of icebergs everything was beautiful.

Tracy Arm Fjord is beyond beautiful. The rock walls that surround you, the glaciers, and the wildlife exceeded all of my expectations. Make sure to get captain Dan!

The scenery was majestic and breathtaking! We say goat high up on the mountains that look like white specs if you didn't have binoculars. The Glacier was so beautiful and blue with hints of mountain dust on top. It cracked and rumbled like thunder and watched a piece crack off and fall into the water. Looked like a mini avalanche. Pictures taken by a camera doesn't catch the vast beauty.

Absolutely amazing!! We took Captain Cook through Adventure Bound and are so happy we did! It was very well worth the cost! It was a 9 hour trip…the way there was admittedly much better than the way back. (Take a nap on the way back!) We enjoyed watching the color of the water change and seeing the waterfalls and icebergs emerge as we got closer to the huge glacier! We got to South Sawyer Glacier and spent about an hour watching it calve and seeing the seals on the icebergs! It all was quite a sight to see!! The crew was super cool and we loved the warm beverages! Lunch was offered, but I’d suggest bringing lots of snacks too! I highly recommend this tour! It was the highlight of our trip!

I visited Tracy Arm some 20 years ago. We didn't have to travel as far to find the ice. Today, the ice has retreated significantly... but it's still impressive. Imagine a river like the Missouri... but made of ice. That's what you'll find at the end of Tracy Fjord.
Besides ice of an impossibly blue shade, we saw ice floes and seals. Waterfalls cascading down mountainsides. Huge evergreens that looked like tiny Christmas trees by scale.
Perhaps even more amazing was the temperature, which dropped steadily as we approached the glacier. It really gave us a sense of just how magnificent Nature really is.

I was very skeptical of doing this 7 hour excursion because I don’t like giving up so much of my time in one stop but this excursion was the highlight of our whole cruise. The views we saw there are no words for the memories we made on this trip. I checked off Whales, (we saw a gray whale which we were told was not seen in that area and we got the pictures to prove it). Mountain goats, seals, eagles and the glaciers wow! Memories will last a lifetime and thankfully pictures when our memories fade. The excursion family was also very knowledgeable and offered lots of little tidbits as we cruised. There was hot and cold drinks, food and free samples of seafood & restrooms onboard. The Glacierita with glacier ice was good and the glacier ice they pulled up was exciting to see.
All and all it was worth every penny and I’m so glad I decided to pick this one. Now I tell anyone that asks which excursion to choose to do this one.

I woke up on my cruise to the sight of crystal blue water and little icebergs ("growlers") floating by. When we reached Dawes Glacier I was stunned to see the blue glacier, sporadically calving into the water. Really a spectacular sight.

Absolutely beautiful. We did an Alaskan cruise and sat on our balconies for hours just taking in the scenic views. Best part of the cruise by far.

My wife and I vacationed in Alaska in June/July 2020. We planned to start with a day cruise in Glacier Bay, but that was cancelled for the season. As a backup, we booked a Tracy Arm Fjord tour through Alaska Tours.
The boat could handle up to 40 passengers. Due to COVID-19, there were only 13 of us, plus the captain and two hands. The weather in Juneau was gloomy, but we were assured it would improve as we made our way to Tracy Arm and Sawyer Glacier. It did not get sunny, but it did improve. It was actually almost ideal lighting for photography. But some of the mountain peaks were still in clouds.
During the ride, we saw a pod of about six orcas. In the fjord, we saw three black bears on the shore, each with different coloration. There were birds, including bald eagles. Close to the glacier, there were many harbor seals.
Tracy Arm Fjord is really beautiful, with its steep valley walls, waterfalls, icebergs, and wildlife. The highlight for us was the Sawyer Glacier itself. Some of the ice is amazingly deep blue. The captain navigated through numerous chunks of ice to get within a few hundred feet of the glacier. The face of the glacier is over 1000 feet wide, and roughly 200 feet high. We spent a pretty long time there, watching "small" calving events. Then, a large block (I estimated 180 feet tall, above the water) separated and fell in the water. That generated significant waves that gave us a fun ride!
Be aware that it is cold in the fjord, especially near the glacier.

Wow, I thought at first this wouldn't be that exciting. Boy was I wrong!
The experiance of seeing these massive cliffs all around the boat really blew me away. We all did not expect the scale to impress us as much as it did.
Speachless

For anyone visiting Juneau in the future, we heartily recommend taking a glacier and whale watching tour with Adventure Bound & Captain Steve. He took us (safely) incredibly close to a glacier, and then onto an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime sight of a large pod of 30-40 humpback whales.

Absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend. Up close with iceberg and glaciers. Wildlife. Our day was rainy and had some fog but it was still amazing. Lots of waterfalls too.

Is this excursion worth the price? Or are you able to see all the same things from your cruise ship? Family of 8 ages 9-67. Thanks!

We went on a cruise in Alaska first week of August 2018. It was one of the most amazing places we've been to. Everything on this cruise is just beautiful! Every single sight is awesome! The whole state of Alaska is just super beautiful! The first time I saw those floating icebergs in green waters is like a dream come true! But the best part for me is looking at this most gorgeous sight, the Tracy Arm Fjord. I know there are more places that has fjords or glaciers but this is the first one I'd seen and it took my heart.

We visited via Alaska Bound Adventures, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The views are incredible and well worth the trip.

We did a Holland America Alaskan cruise in July 2019, and our ship came into this area as part of the cruise. Several of our group felt that this was better than the ports we visited (Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria BC). While we did not get completely up to the glacier and therefore missed seeing any calving (I believe because there was a big chunk of floating glacier blocking us from getting any closer), it was awesome to see this area. This is what we dreamed of seeing in Alaska. If you have a choice of a cruise that goes to the Tracy Arm on an Inside Passage cruise vs. one that does not, I highly recommend opting for the Tracy Arm option, and be up early enough to be able to see it all as you are passing through it.

Cruising thru Tracy Arm Fyord by itself is enough to see one of the majestic views in Alaska. It was a memorable experience

Stunning beauty. The trip up into the glacier through the Fjord is truly amazing. A must do on a private boat. Not a real great venue for a large charter group.

We were on the Disney Wonder, and Tracy Arm Fjord was one of our destinations. More specifically, we were visiting Dawes Glacier. Although the Wonder got plenty close to see this enormous glacier, we took an excursion on the ship with Allen Tours to get even closer. What an experience! There were icebergs and seals everywhere. Apparently it was pupping season for the seals. The icebergs are beautiful and blue. Some of them have been amazingly sculpted by the currents.
Pictures really cannot do the glacier justice. It is very blue, and that is all natural. A lot of cold air comes off the glacier. Plus, the glacier will experience calving, the process by which ice breaks off and becomes the icebergs in the water. You may not see any big pieces break off, but it is impressive when it happens.
In addition to the glacier, there are a lot of waterfalls (more accurately called cascades in this instance) that make for some great photo opportunities.

We sailed through this passage on our way into Juneau. It was beautiful. We saw wildlife and enjoyed the waterfalls and mountains.

It was so dramatic to watch this glacier calving from our cruise, we were on the Captain Cook. When the ice gives way it sounds like a gun shot, and then the ice falls into the water. Such a sight to see, try to get here if you can. It is unforgettable!

We cruised on Norweigian Cruise Lines and were able to spend time viewing this amazing fjiord on a beautiful day. such a gorgeus sight.

I agree with the majority of the previous reviewers: a boat trip up to Tracy Arm Fjord was a "wow" experience. It's pretty much an all-day ride: It's fifty miles by sea to the mouth of the fjord, and then about another thirty winding through it to reach the face of the South Sawyer Glacier. The day was quite overcast, and by the time we'd entered the steep-sided fjord, the clouds gave an odd enclosed feel to the landscape around us. On both the entry and exit trips, the boat made a stop at different waterfalls; virtually nudging the bow up against the rock cliff and tumbling waters. Even a mountain goat or two could be seen. As we went deeper, more and more chunks of ice in all shapes and sizes floated by. But Sawyer Glacier was the star of the show. The fantastically blue ice cliffs were the center of attention for our boat (we approached to perhaps a quarter mile of the ice face), as well as for the other kayaks, zodiacs, and ships in the vicintity. By good fortune, the glacier was active during the hour of our visit, calfing two or three large blocks, and even producing a couple of "shooters" (icebergs that break off from the underwater portion of the glacier and shoot straight up to the surface without warning).
Overall, a great experience. It is a fact that the glaciers there have been receding for the last century; very glad we could see them while we can.

This is a once in a lifetime trip that you will never forget! The Fjord is only allowed a set amount of visitors at a time so it is not too intrusive on the wildlife. The glaciers, icebergs, and wildlife were amazing and something few people get to experience! Our tour was with Allen Marine Tours and it was first class!

What a great spot to visit. The fjords are beautiful from all vantage points. A great spot to experience the awesome beauty of Alaska. Watch for flora and fauna and wildlife

Tough to see how it had retreated, but a beautiful site! we were able to get very close on the boat and got some great pictures.

The scenery is breathtaking. Traveling through the Tracy Arm Fjord we saw ice bergs, snow caped mountains, waterfalls lush valleys. the air was crisp so dress warm.

We took an Alaskan Carnival Cruise on July 27, 2021.
The Tracy Arm Fjord what is the most beautiful thing I have seen in my life.
Our tour guides slowly turned the boat around and round so all guests could view this beautiful glacier.
We took four excursions on this cruise and this was our number one favorite!
Make sure you enjoy a Glacierita!

Beautiful glacier !!! We couldn't get to close , ship was too big but still quite a sight. Even the floating ice field had pretty blue hues.

Outstanding natural beauty. We were fortunate to see seals whilst here. The colours in the glacier are beautiful. We used a catamaran trip to get here.

it was a greta stop on our excusion that day from the cruise line we used to see Alaska. the place was beautiful and the park rangers was great help.

Wonderful (unexpected) weather and wonderful (expected) sights.
Our 50th visited State!
Our cruise was joined by National Park Rangers who literally dictated and moderated the maneuvering of our ship. The Park Rangers are very knowledgeable and interesting commentators and pointed out subtle detail that would have otherwise escaped us.

Sorry that the glaciers are disappearing (climate really is changing) but glad we had a chance to see the Dawes glacier. It really is breath taking. There were still some growlers (ice chunks that are floating) that have an amazing blue color.

Stayed on the ship, but had great views!! Definitely worth the trip trough Tracy Arm Fjord. Saw several momma & baby seals

One of the most amazing fjords, the snow capped mountains are simply majestic and the sawyer glacier is a wonder of its own. Wow 😮

Just beautiful, cruised along this body of water into Juneau. Highly recommend spending time on your balcony or in an area of the ship where you can watch. Beautiful scenery.

Visited Tracy Arm Fjord in 2017 and we've also visited Marjorie Glacier 3 times. I really like Tracy Arm Fjord specially the cruise through the inlet because the mountains were so close and spectacular. Beautiful place - pictures don't do justice.

I booked this tour out of Juneau because the cruise ship did not offer it. I received clear instructions on how to get from my cruise dock to the correct pier for the boat in Juneau. The whole trip was perfect from beginning to end. The weather was clear and warm. You don't get someone telling you a bunch of facts all during the trip and you don't need it - the spectacular views speak for themselves. However, there is a crew member on board who's up to date about the wildlife, flora and fauna to give some basic facts and answer questions. If wildlife was spotted, then the captain cruised quietly closer so we could get a better view. We saw bears, whales, sheep, stellar seals, eagles and both north and south views of the Sawyer Glacier. We went up all the way to the ice floes right in front of the glacier. The crew was super sweet providing coffee, snacks and lunch. The boat's cabins (upper and lower) have windows all around but there's also a large outside upper deck (standing only) for great photography. This is the way to see glaciers in Alaska. It simply can't compare to seeing them even a mile away on a cruise ship. The best money I spent on my trip!

This was a highlight of our Juneau stay. A long day - 9 hours total round trip - but worth it! If you are doing Tracy Arm Fjords - go by boat not seaplane. The boat ride was spectacular with scenery - water falls, bears on the island shores, seal lions, etc. We spent an hour floating at the end of the fjord by the glacier - watched multiple ice calving (nothing quite like seeing that in person - hearing the ice crack and calve), lots of momma seals and pups on the ice floats. Really spectacular and worth the trip. Capt Steve was a veteran and shared so much interesting info. The crew took good care of us. Recommend.

Cruising Tracy Arm Fjord was a wonderful experience. Saw a couple of seals, and beautiful waterfalls all over. Seeing the glacier and its blue "glow" was certainly an experience.

This is the type of natural wonder that makes you feel very insignificant - and rightly so. Mountains that tower above the aquamarine coloured waterway. Wildlife abounds. Put it on your bucket list and if you get the chance, jump off your cruise liner onto a smaller boat to go deeper into the fiord. Stunning!

We were able to get with in .6 of a mile on our ship. It is an amazing experience to be that close and see the icebergs as they fall!

We recently cruised the Tracy Arm Fjord. Absolutely beautiful. We were lucky because we had a lovely clear, sunny day. Be watchful and diligent. What looked like "white spots" on the mountainside turned out to be mountain goat with the binoculars. So don't forget them. Enjoy the majesty of this beautiful place.

We were able to cruise down Tracy Arm Fjord while on our Carnival cruise. The scenery is like no place on earth and wildlife was abundant. We didn't take the smaller boat excursion but would definitely do so if we get the opportunity to return. You won't be disappointed here.

Excellent glacier viewing experience. Used Adventure Bound out of Juneau. Long day but well worth it.

We were on Holland America Amsterdam in July 2019 and the captain was able to get close enough to get a really good look at the glacier and the surrounding scenery was fantastic.

We booked our trip with family-owned Adventure Bound Alaska. Professionally-run, crewed and captained by the friendliest people with a wealth of knowledge about the fjord.
Our Captain was a pro at getting us around icebergs, and through channels, so we could get up close to Sawyer Glacier (and the seals that were hanging out in the area).
Snacks, coffee, beers, and sodas available on board for really affordable price points. (I especially appreciated this given that they could have gone with "hike up the price for the captured market" route but chose not to.)
The fjord itself is breathtaking in its natural beauty. If you're ever in Juneau, do not miss out on this.

Did a boat tour of Tracy arm and it's seriously like God plopped down Yosemite NP down in the ocean. Honestly the most beautiful natural area I've experienced. The boat group was friendly and the tour took about 9 hours but it was a fantastic voyage into the wilderness. It started out rainy but still beautiful and the sun broke through at the most beautiful part of the Fjord. We were able to get really close to the glacier and watched it cave a few times and also had lunch while we floated in the gorgeous scenery. We only saw two other boats the entire journey out and back and I would guess this was a covid-19 related thing.. We also saw harbor seals and two bears eating barnacles off the rocks. If you are ever in Juneau, I highly recommend this tour...very beautiful.

Well worth the money, saw whales, other wild life and amazing floating ice! Best glacier we have seen in Alaska , captain Steve was great as was Kendra our guide !

We did a tour and it was amazing to get that close to the glacier and icebergs! We were able to stay warm and enjoy hot chocolate while doing it!

This is a true wonder of nature. Pictures do not give any justice. It is so amazing to see the beauty and ice everywhere, feel the power, and hear the ice crashing into the water. Words cannot even explain and I will never ever forget!!

We went on an Adventurebound excursion to Tracy Arm Fjord. The boat was trashy. There was junk everywhere. The food which you bought on the boat was subpar. Bring your own lunch and snacks. The captain was not very professional. The scenery was stunning. This is a 9 hour day so be prepared. Compared to phillips cruises in Anchorage, this was a 2 on a scale of 1-10.

We were on board our Uncruise ship, the Wilderness Explorer, and visiting the South Sawyer Glacier. It was exciting cruising up towards the glacier as we could see all the little bergy bits floating towards us. The sight of the glacier when it finally comes into view is just stunning. We were able to get into skiffs and go closer than the main ship can go. It was such a thrill seeing the ice bits calving from the glacier. One of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Lots of blue icebergs, imposing cliffs, waterfalls and wildlife!

We travelled in the the Fjord on our cruise ship the Brilliance of the Sea in August. The scenery was extraordinarily beautiful. Unfortunately we were unable to go all the way in as an iceberg was blocking our passage.

If you are selecting an Alaska cruise, book on a small ship that will include a visit to the Sawyer glacier at Tracy Arm. It is spectacular.

I experienced this above board my cruise ship and was told the quarters were very tight that it was so breathtaking definitely picture area, quiet and serene.

The cruise was great. We stayed in the Intercostal, so not much sea-sickness. Seeing the glacier was amazing, but we really loved seeing all the wildlife too. We saw humpback whales, orca, a black bear, mountain goats, bald eagles, and seals. There was also an earthquake (we didn’t even know that there had been one!) the night before, so the glacier was calving a lot while we watched. Very exciting and spectacular!

Tracy Arm Fjord is something that you must not miss. The ice floats and the glaciers were terrific. We saw mountain goats and sheep. Also, we saw the glacier calving on a beautiful day.

I loved going on this smaller boat, everyone could easily see and get photos. The captain made sure everyone could get a good photo even if that meant going around & by the subject again. We had a long time to enjoy the glacier. You could hear the noises and there were 3 calving events. We also saw an Orca and her baby on the way up and back near the glacier. Staff was friendly and helpful when asked.

Colton, a lady and the captain were tirelessly answering questions. A trip worth the price. Can’t beat this. The best in Juneau!!!

We loved our tour of the Tracy Arm fjords. Tour operator was Adventure Bound Alaska, a local family-owned business. There were about 25 people in our group, a mix of locals and cruise passengers. The tour lasted 9 hours, longer than most others we considered, and also less expensive than the others. Great value!! Crew was so knowledgeable and friendly. Views were breathtaking! Saw humpback whales, mountain goats, Eagles, sea lions, and harbor seals. So it ended up being a whale-watching cruise as well as a wildlife and glacier tour. Highly recommended! 5 stars!

We went right to the glacier face aboard the Carnival Legend. It was absolutely mind blowing how close the captain got the boat to the glacier. The ice was higher than our ship. It was also cool to see all the ice bergs along the route in and out. If you take a smaller boat with a tour excursion, you can get closer and see the seals/sea lions on the closer bergs.

Absolutely breathtaking cruise and views. We enjoyed the variety of terrain and the views. Definitely something you should plan.

Hidden gem, best time of our Alaska trip. Our captain James was wonderful-made our voyage fun. He managed to be both professional and irreverently funny. The boat went right to waterfalls, icebergs. Excellent!

We went through here on our cruise ship. It was freezing and needed some blankets, but what views! Anywhere you looked was awe inspiring! We were very lucky to go on a clear day and were rewarded with the best views!

We visited on The Celebrity Solstice and it was amazing! The water was so calm and the glacier was spectacular.

This is a must if you get the chance. Photos and words dont do it justice. It is the most beautiful moment of your trip.

Beautiful fjiord, saw glaciers calving in a comfortable large board. Kinda rainy and foggy the whole time but still a good experience

We took this trip from our cruise
The scenery is stunning and we were lucky enough to see a bear bald eagle and whales
The weather on the day was great and i would defiantly recommend this trip which is expensive but for us a once in a lifetime trip

A beautiful place to visit, scenic, with lots of icebergs fronting the glacier. Great for photographers.

We signed up for a tour of the Tracy arm fjord through our Holland America Cruise. Cost was $259.95 per adult, $219.95 child for a 7 hour tour. Once you exit the boat, there is a charter bus waiting to take you to the dock where the catamaran is docked. Our boats happened to be docked within walking distance so some of our group elected to walk back to the cruise boat afterwards.
We had a 4 person crew for our trip (driver, one at snack bar, and two about the boat to answer questions, and help spot wildlife). There were only about 30 of us on the trip, so we were very comfortable and there was plenty of room to spread out both down and upstairs. When the boat is packed, it would have been more difficult for those sitting in the inside seats to view the wildlife.
After a quick safety demonstration, we headed out. It takes just under 2 hours to reach the beginning of the Tracy arm. Once there the captain slows down dramatically and you begin to see small icebergs. We were fortunate to have great weather: partially cloudy with a few moments of sunshine, no rain. We saw a few whales, bears (from afar) ravens, eagles. No otters unfortunately. The captain will stop the boat for photo ops.
The highlight of the trip is the Sawyer glacier. Your captain take you to either the north or south end depending on the ice condition; we visited the north end.
After that the boat heads back to Juneau. Our excursion included a sack lunch (sandwich, chips, granola bar, water). Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate were available for free the entire ride. They passed out a few free samples (chocolate, smoked salmon, spruce tip jelly) and there are other snacks available for purchase.
Tracy arm is beautiful, but our cruise happened to sail through Glacier Bay National Park, which in my opinion, is far superior for viewing purposes. Unless you specifically wish to see Tracy arm or have limited mobility, I would not recommend this tour for your time in Juneau. On a previous trip we hiked the Mendenhall glacier area and now having experienced both, I much prefer the hike. It was a bit overkill for our active family to spend 7 hours on boat ride to Tracy arm and a whole day at sea
viewing Glacier Bay. For that reason, and because
of the costs, I would not do this tour again.
For reasons unknown, Allen Marine was not ready to receive us at our ticketed time. Our bus driver was forced to kill over and hour with us randomly driving up and down the Main Street. There was no explanation or apology from Allen Marine once we were finally able to board. Overall, four stars for Tracy arm but the trip loses one star for Allen Marine’s tardiness.

Our cruise ship passed by this area on the way to Juneau. Such beautiful scenery! We wished we could have gotten closer and stayed longer!

Absolutely stunning to visit, everywhere you look is something new that you can see. There are mountains, glaciers, ravines, snow capped peaks and wildlife everywhere. highly recommend everyone take time to visit here it's well worth it!

HAL Westerdam cruise up TracyArm was beautiful with an enjoyable lunch on our veranda. Although we were on the starboard (left) side, the captain turned ship 360 degrees , allowing everyone a view. Hot chocolate, appetizers and champagne offered on the bow. Initially hampered by fog, developed into a beautiful rain free day.

we went on a small boat family run business that left directly from our holland and america cruise ship the staff were absolutely amazing so knowledgeable the captain made sure everybody on the boat saw everything we had amazing wildlife sightings including brown and black bears whales bald eagles seals and pups the glaciers and iceburgs here were far more beautiful than in glacier bay just an absolutely fantastic day a day i will never forget

We took the all day Tracy Arm Fjord boat trip with Alaska Adventure Bound. The trip was fantastic. The captain really allowed us to enjoy every second looking for whales...we saw orcas and humpbacks! Our time at the glacier was not rushed at all. His crew made our lunches and were very knowledgeable and accommodating. If you visit Juneau put this on your list of things to do. You won’t be sorry.

Woke up early for this site and was not disappointed. The glaciers sailed pass all sizes even saw seals taking a ride. Mountain goats were also identified. the Fjord really took my breath away the water was so calm it felt like I was just floating like the icebergs. WOW.

This fjord and glacier are stars of the Alaska show. Visit! When you book a tour though, ask if you are getting an experienced crew and a newer vessel. Our boat was a mess. Safety notes scribbled on a wall. A barely-operational bathroom. A fine boat for personal use but a horrifying one for tourism.

A Carnival Alaska cruise featured this excursion but it is listed as an excursion from Seattle instead of Tracy Arm Fijord. As a result, many could not see it. I learned about it by watching You Tube reviews that showed you have to leave the ship and get on a smaller boat. There are inside areas that are heated and covered. It was amazing. But Alaska threw everything at us. Even though the temperature was 50 degrees, the speed of the boat coupled with rain, pelted us. A poncho will not protect you as the winds had that poncho flying around my head and getting in my pictures. So glad I packed insulated water proof pants. When we first started, it was cloudy and rainy but once the clouds parted and the boat slowed down we saw a bear, whales and seals resting on ice chunks.
If you have folks with limited mobility, they have to be able to get on the boat but can sit and look at the views comfortably from inside.

With our smaller cruise ship we were able to get very close to the glacier and it was amazing! The weather was perfect and the views spectacular!

I was completely unprepared for this experience - and I mean that is a wonderful way. I was absolutely overwhelmed with the beauty.
Let's be frank - the weather was absolutely gross. Misty at best. Cold. Sometimes outright raining. Other boats had not been able to get into the fjord that day because of the weather. But as our ship eased into the fjord and Dawes Glacier started to come into view, wow. The glacier is SO BLUE! The sky was gray, the water was milky green, the rock was brown - but that glacier was brilliantly turquoise and teal blue. Who knew!
We opted to take a small boat off the larger boat and soon found ourselves amidst seals floating on ice, weeping rock faces, tumbling waterfall, iceberg calving, deep waters, mountain goats. The weather got worse and worse and still I couldn't tear myself away from the rail, it was just so beautiful.
Time and again, I have watched documentary presenters approach a glacier with a starting point of "it's a big hunk of ice," and come away with a life-changing experience. This wasn't exactly life-changing, but it was might fine.

It is simply a beautiful site to see. Thankful that I was able to take this trip. Another one off my bucket list, smiling.

Tracy Arm has only one glacier and we didn't get close to it at all. We've crushed twice to College Fiord and it was so superior!

Not to be missed Fjord and glacier. We were able to see a calving and were thrilled. You won't regret going there.

Truly breathtaking cruising through the Tracy Arm Fjord. When we got to the Glacier we were able to see and hear glacier caving.

Traveled here on a small adventure cruise ship as part of a 7-day cruise, so got to get close to the Sawyer Glacier. Fantastic introduction to SE Alaska, it's waterways and Glaciers. You can also do a long day trip from Juneau. Definitely worth the trip.

We were on the Carnival Legend in July but could only get within 10 miles of the glacier. They said just a week before they hadn’t been able to get that close due to ice. We convinced my husband to take the excursion to the face of the glacier, and even tho we seldom take excursions , we are very glad he did.. the one thing he had really wanted to see on this cruise was a glacier and since we only took a 7 day cruise, we did not get north enough to see many others from the ship .
In fact, being from the Pacific NW ourselves. We are used to more mountains than we saw on this cruise.
We are very happy that he could get right to the face if the glacier and saw an incident of calving .

We were lucky our ship got pretty close, but this excursion was well worth it. We got right up to the glacier. We saw harbor seals, mountain goats, and eagles. The water color was amazing. Loved it!

You can see small glaciers and beautiful mountains with waterfalls. We picked Princess since they are one of the few allowed into the fjord! There are smaller tours so if your boat doesn’t go you definitely should. It’s gorgeous and breathtaking.

Awesomely blue ice. Lots of ice in the water at multiple glaciers.
Great waterfalls, mountain goats, and seals on the ice.

Absolutely beautiful. Even if your cruise ship sails into Tracy Arm, try to take excursion that gets you up closer to the Glaciers. Much more intimate than sailing on a larger ship with no "guide" to tell you what you are seeing or looking for

This was an excursion offered by our cruise line. We took a 2 hour boat ride to get there and it was worth the trip!! So peaceful and breathtakingly beautiful!

We did a six hour boat trip up the Tracy Arm Fjord in a boat that held approximately 50 people.
A young girl gave an environmental commentary and explained the different features along the way.
The boat provided lunch, tea / coffee / hot chocolate and dough balls. Small snacks were available for sale.
We got close to the South Sawyer Glacier and had plenty of opportunities for great photographs.
It was very disappointing to see that the Grand Pacific Glacier (once the largest) has melted and is now just a pile of rocks!
A big trip that was relaxing and pleasant however the lack of wildlife was very disappointing. We only saw a small colony of seals, different seabirds and a sick/lost juvenile grey whale. We were anticipating more wildlife and larger pieces of floating ice.

My wife and I did this as a day trip from our Holland America cruise. Within minutes of transferring to the smaller boat we were surrounded by whales, sea otters, puffins etc..Tracy Arm Fjord is a majestic and beautiful place. We got to the South Sawyer Glacier and were awestruck by how blue it was and the 1000's of seals sunbaking on the icebergs in front of it. Fantastic experience.

We learned a lot about the Fjords. From how Fjords are made to the depths, it is totally impressive. The views just make it totally incredible.

We enjoyed a great cruise with many stops in Alaska, but the time we spend cruising through Tracy Arm Fjord was very impressive. It's amazingly not "cold." Some people wore a wind-breaker or a sweater, but I was very comfortable. The cruise ship captain did a great job of navigating into this area and giving us the best views possible.
I have also been on Alaska cruises that visited Glacier Bay. I do believe I enjoy the "Wow" factor of the "Glacier Bay" portion a little better than Tracy Arm Fjord - (and the cost of the cruise is usually more expensive for Glacier Bay version) - but it's hard to be disappointed in just about any Alaska Experience!
Already planning and looking forward to our next Alaska Cruise!

We may have not seen the glacier as our Princess Cruise said there was too much icebergs but we did see icebergs which was amazing! It was so neat to be next to these huge icebergs that looked like they didn't even move as this huge cruise ship went passed them. We saw Eagles and tons of Black Bears. We wished we saw whales and seals but I will still take Black Bears as we rarely see them at home. The area was breathtaking, never saw mountains like that before and to know we were the only people in that whole area was cool. In May we needed long pants, jacket and gloves in this area, it was a bit cool outside. Interesting to see but it's too bad we could see the glacier.

We did a Holland America Inside Passage cruise that had Juneau as a port of call. There we took an excursion run by Allen Marine to go to Tracy Arm Fjord. The weather was gorgeous, which certainly helped make the day. It's a good ride to Sawyer Glacier, but very enjoyable. We came right up to the glacier -- a safe distance of course -- and while we saw glaciers from the cruise ship, this is more intimate. Even on the ride there we passed small icebergs, and the cobalt blue is stunning when that close.
Much wildlife too, including sea otters, bald eagles, bears, and sea lions. (We kept missing the whales.) One bald eagle perched on an iceberg and posed for us the whole time. (Sorry, I'm not posting those photos. I'm keeping my copyright.) The captain gave us plenty of time to enjoy each spectacle.
Well worth the money. Well worth the time. When we think about our Alaska vacation, this will stick as a -- if not THE -- highpoint.

Tracy Arm is a fjord in Alaska near Juneau. Breathtaking mountains and elevated glaciers with wilderness.

We're not that into nature, it was good to see one time. We saw it from a ship while enjoying our dinner.

Via cruise ship, this area is mesmerizing - surrounded in sheer beauty! It was so worth getting up at 6:00 am, in the rainy and mist, to see the forests, glaciers, waterfalls and icebergs! Absolutely stunning and worth it!!!

Absolutely beautiful. The entire trip is just amazing. My first trip to Alaska. Will do this again if when I go back.

Great experience on Princess Cruise took in July 2019. Had a naturalist on board while going through the fjord and made world of difference him explaining the different glaciers and wildlife we saw. Beautiful, beautiful area and definitely worth seeing!!

Celebrity just started skipping Tracy and going to Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. Very beautiful. Very Cold outside to watch but oculd see fine inside through the large windows. Could see big chunks of it breaking off and crashing into the sea. Can't fathom the size of it until you see it in person, close up. Just magnificent.

Visited on a cruise ship & a very pleasant early morning cruise in admiring the scenery, the passing icebergs, the occassional sea animal and glimpses of the glacier.
Whilst we could see the glacier, we were still a long way away & didn't notice any calving whilst there. Also the size of the bergs was 'lost' looking down on them from up high on the cruise ship.
People who did the excursion (got onto a smaller boat to allow close access to the glacier and saw the icebergs up close) seemed to be very happy they did it.
Veru quiet & peaceful & the scenery cruising in & out is spectacular.

On the seven day cruise in the Inner Passage this was my favorite place. The seals seem unconcerned about us and kept caring for the young and the winding fjord was breathtaking.

The best way to visit this Wounder of nature is with a cruise ship, or a good embarkation.
Bring very warm clothes, a good camera with a blue filter and make sure to wake up early.

Everything about this trip was awesome. Nothing bad to say, other than I wish that it was longer. If I had to pick something I guess I'd say it's a little expensive, but ABSOLUTELY worth it!

Tracy Arm Ford was indeed a treat for never having experienced firsthand ice-flows and of course a Huge Glacier up-close. The Captain of our ship got us within probably 1/4 mile of the Glacier so everyone on Deck had a fabulous view of the Glacier...Impressive!

From our small cruise ship we observed spectacular glaciers and cliffs rise up on either side of and in the middle of the fjord. This part of the inner passage was one of the highlights of the trip.

Came in on Uncruise. Beautiful area to see. Very few visitors. The views are amazing in every direction.

Our ship went through here on the way to Jueau, and it was a really nice experience. We did have turn around, as the ice chunks became larger.

We were on a cruise that sailed up the fjiord and saw this amazingly beautiful site. The glacier is awesome and were were able to get close enough to see the ice falling off and the beautiful blue colored ice. Absolutely beautiful!

There are so many beautiful places in and around Juneau. Enjoyed my day here immensely and highly recommend it to photographers and nature lovers. Great glacier watching and incredible scenery.

Great all-day trip up beautiful, uncrowded fjord. Saw seals, sea lions, and bears (sadly, no whales), plus waited at the foot of the glacier until it calved. Very memorable and enjoyable day. Felt no need to go to Glacier Bay after doing this trip.

Adventure Bound Alaska gave us a tour of a lifetime on this day long excursion. Best iceberg & glaciers with a great captain maneuvering the boat as close as possible. We also spotted orcas, humpbacks, seals, bears and eagles.

It is a mandatory walk when traveling in Alaska, you can see the glaciers up close, waterfalls, seals, mountain sheep and many more animals. I highly recommend it!

The beauty of this place will stick with you long after visiting. Great views, photo ops, whales, seals and wildlife along the way

absolutely breathtaking. it feels like we were in another world. overload of nature. my phone didnt have enough storage to capture this

If you are going on a cruise, do not forget to book this excursion. It was amazing. We saw the Sawyer glaciers, seals, otters, a glacier calving (which cased waves), and the only true waterfall in the park.
The crew fished a small piece of iceberg out of the water and people were able to hold it.
They do serve soft and hard drinks. Don't forget to have the "glacierita"

Beautiful fjord and glacier
Saw otters, seals, bald eagles. Water was smooth as glass. Also lucky enough to see a large piece of the glacier calve off. It was fabulous. We were also lucky to have a beautiful fog and rain free day

Incredible!! Absolutely Stunning Glacier Experience. Words just cannot Express the experience of watching a glacier calve a few hundred feet in front of you with little seals floating around on several of the icebergs. Phenomenal experience!

Visiting from Florida, we are used to seeing sunshine and palm trees, but the scenery here is just breathtaking.

We are avid cruisers and are always looking for exceptional excursions. This was by far one of the best excursions we have ever been on. A smaller vessel picked us up from the cruise ship and as the cruise ship continued down the Fjord, we were able to cruise up close and personal to one of the glaciers. This was during early spring and there were so many Harbour seals on the ice, many with new babies. The view of the glacier that close is absolutely breathtaking and we were able to enjoy glacier ice margarita as well! The views were awe inspiring and we even got to see mountain goats and a bear. This is definitely an excursion you don't want to miss.

An awesome way to see a most beautiful fjord, mountains, waterfalls, mountain goats, bergy bits and growlers!

We sailed through Frederick Sound in the morning of the 23rd June 2019, seeing Orca's and Humpbacks and then saw Tracy Arm Fjord.
The mist was slightly down, which gave a beautiful setting, although a bit chilly it was simply stunning

This is a must see. Dress warm. Watching the glacier ice calfing is amazing. We took this excursion off the Carnival Legend this August. Got to see the ice break off the glacier. beautiful place.

I wish pictures could do justice. But this place has beauty that you must see with your own eyes. We had seals and icebergs by our cruise balcony, and the glacier is a unique blue color.

My family and i took an Alaska cruise earlier in July (2019). We had the option to tour Tracy Arm fjord and the South Sawyer Glacier. Before I go on, if you have the opportunity to tour this, JUST DO IT! You won’t regret it. This was by far the BEST excursion I’ve ever done and was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. The water, the most beautiful emerald color, the scenery was BREATHTAKING, We saw a black bear, lots of eagles, waterfalls everywhere, a pod of whales and sea lions. The icebergs are the most incredibly beautiful blue I’ve ever seen. The pictures don’t do it justice, you have to see it in person. It’s the most beautiful blue color! And finally the Glacier, it took my breath away. It’s so beautiful
It moved me to tears, it was So spectacular. Our catamaran was able to get us very close so we could capture the true beauty of the South Sawyer Glacier and we even saw it calve. The staff of our catamaran was so incredibly kind, educated and made the whole experience so much fun . This was truly the highlight of our trip and I can’t say enough how much you NEED to take this trip/tour if you have the opportunity. Again, this is the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen and one of the best days I’ve ever had. Go see Tracy Arm Fjord!!!!

We took the excursion to the fjord that was offered as part of the Disney Wonder cruise to Alaska. For my kids it was their first time viewing something spectacular like Tracy Arm. The view was breathtaking and we enjoyed every moment.

We took the Tracy Arm Inlet & Glacier tour directly from our Holland America cruise ship New Amsterdam.....and it was the most memorable tour we did on the entire trip!
The boat had 3 decks in all - both closed in and smaller open air observation areas. The entire trip took roughly 6 hours and included refreshments along the way.
The amazing part of this trip was how close the boat was able to get to the gushing waterfalls, the crystal clear glacier & the abundant wildlife....harbour seals, Stellar sealions, a humpback whale, a small pod of orcas & 3 black bears playing by the water's edge!!!!! There were lots of icebergs of varying sizes floating around and the colours of them were a sight to behold, The 2 glaciers that we visited were both very different but each remarkable in their own way. The weather gods blessed us that day too...it would drizzle the way we expected Alaskan weather would do, than lo & behold the sun would appear just as you wanted to be up on the open-air decks to enjoy the sights up close & in all their glory!
I can't recommend enough seeing this tiny peice of Alaska...it truly is spectacular.

We were fortunate that our cruise ship made the journey through Tracy Arm Fjord. Passing by floating chunks of ice with cavernous rock rising above the water was a sight to behold. Looking for wildlife on the ice as it passed by quickly became a new hobby for me. The water was so calm that I was wishing I had a kayak. I’d love to return someday to explore the area for a more up close and personal view.

We cruised through the Tracy Arm Fjord and had the opportunity to take a smaller boat close to the Sawyer Glacier. It was worth the extra expense to get so close to the glacier. The beauty is beyond words and pictures don't do it justice, but I will post a few pictures anyhow. I would recommend it to anyone who has the chance to do this.

Loved this portion of the cruise. Wish we would have had better lighting for my photography but I still had some tremendous images. The fjord did some calving when we were facing the other direction but that is just luck!

We saw this otherworldly place on a tour from Juneau with Adventure Bound Alaska. It’s hard to put into words how gorgeous and amazing this place is. Pictures too cannot bring home what one experiences here.

This is my favorite fjord and glacier in Alaska. The views are very dramatic as you wind your way up the Arm to see the tidewater glacier. We were on a cruise ship, however, there are boat trips from Juneau to Tracy Arm. This is not an area where you will see whales but you will see many seals and pups on icebergs. Lovely trip!

Absolutely Beautiful see the different colors in the glacier. But don’t stop there look around at the different birds that are hanging around.

Absolutely breathtaking. We were super lucky with blue skys and calm waters! Couldn't have asked for a better morning!!

Probably the most beautiful work of mother nature I have ever seen. Everyone should see this amazing Glacier

Do not skip this! Boat trip out is long but gorgeous. The Fjord is stunning -- Yosemite with glacial water. We saw whales, seals, sea lions, a black bear and many birds.

We did a day trip to Tracy Arm Fjord. A few years ago we made the same trip and probably would not do it again. Climate change has taken it's toll and the glacier is considerably smaller. For the price it is now off of our list in the future.

Our ship arrived at the entrance to Tracy Arm Fjord around sun up, we had set our alarm for 6:00AM. Pulled on a sweatshirt and walked into the fog on our balcony. Electric blue icebergs floated by with an occasional harbor seal as passenger. It was silent, but for the water slipping by the hull and the periodic fog horn blast of the ship. Very surreal and beautiful. As the sun rose further the fog burned off and walls of the fjord grew more and more grand. Waterfalls appeared as did small smaller glaciers higher up in the mountains. We finally reached the end of the fjord at Dawes glacier. The captain spun the ship on its axis through 1/1/2 revolutions. The glacier calved a huge 150ft tall new iceberg while we watched as well as several smaller ones. It was truly gorgeous and alive. This was the high point of our week long cruise. We saw many more memorable sights, but nothing quite as awesome as the Tracy Arm Fjord and Dawes glacier.

We went by Zodiak from our ship. Active calving making lots of noise and lots of beautiful icebergs.

This was my favorite part of our cruise. It was so beautiful that pictures or words just can't do it justice. I think everyone should see it in their life.

Pictures simply don't begin to match actually being there. As most visitors probably do, we saw from the deck of a cruise ship. There are options to get closer, which we didn't do (would have loved to though!), but even from where we were it is amazing. The trip up Glacier Bay is something to see, too, as you see the differing landscapes due to the glaciers, and there is a surprising amount of variety. We saw a couple seals and other wildlife, too.

One of the best parts of our cruise on Un-Cruise was our stop to see Sawyer Glacier in Tracy Arm. You realize the wonders of nature when you are staring up at a Glacier 200 feet high and calving

This is a fantastically beautiful fjord teeming with wildlife. There are beautiful glaciers, and electric-blue iceburgs floating along having calved from the glaciers. Find the smallest boat you can go on that will get you as close a possible to everything and take as long as you can.

We were on an Uncruise vessel and were able to zodiac close to the S Sawyer glacier. Great views and lots of harbor seals with their pups on ice flows. However, the most striking part of the trip were the steep rock faces thousand of feet high plunging into wat a thousand feet deep. Eat your heart out Norway, this fjord has you beat. I have been to Norway and this is more massive and impressive.

Great visit to the glacier on the Grand Princess. A beautiful day with some bergs and calving ot the glacier. The captain later said that it was the closest that he had ever been able to come to the front of the glacier.

On our previous Alaska trip the ship had to skip Tracy Arm Fjord to get a passenger to a hospital. Therefore, I was really looking forward to seeing the Fjord on this trip. Sailing in among the mountains was impressive. There are waterfalls, valleys and some wildlife. (We saw a seal on an ice flow.) The glacier was impressive. I didn't realize that the fjord was a dead end, requiring the ship to turn around. The trip the evening before towards the fjord was equally impressive. From the 17th deck, the view was wonderful; the late light added to the magic of the journey the evening before. All told, it was well worthwhile.

We highly recommend this excursion. We were booked on the Carnival Legend and added this on. Best ever and worth the extra money. Pictures can not do justice.... please go and enjoy!

Our cruise ship took us down this fabulous Fjord, and it was amazing to see all the above while traveling to Sawyer glacier. Then when it got colder, went out to decks and saw the glacier ice and another waterway, as well as another ship in front of the glacier. The glacier was gorgeous, much more blue than the Hubbard Glacier we saw later on the cruise. We could not go up next to it because the other ship had excursion boats out and could not leave. We could see it through zoom and binoculars pretty well, however. If I came back, and our ship did not get close, I would book a tour in Juneau to see it closer. Even prettier than the Portage glacier.

so beautiful and in August , the weather was amazing the towns the cruise line stopped at were very artsy and fun to spend timei in and it was so much more thanI thought, tons of whals and dolphins and bald eagles... and the 6 star cruise line was such an unbeleivably wonderful experience... put this in your budget in your bucket list and plan it and do it!!!!!

We went through on our cruise and it was gorgeous and majestic. You felt like you were in the Norwegian Fjords! It was so beautiful and peaceful. Then at the end we saw Sawyer glacier! Such a great surprise!

The weather has been kind to us and it was a clear day. We could even see mountains behind mountains. We were told it was a rare occasion as usually the weather did not permit the visibility. It was beautiful just like postcard picture.

We took the 5 Star rated Adventure Bound tour on the Captain Cook, and Captain Steve (the owner of 27 years) took us within 3 blocks (1/4 mile) of South Sawyer Glacier and sat there for apx one hour to witness numerous calving chunks. The sheer beauty of Tracy Arm and it's many waterfalls and views was probably the highlight of our 6 day vacation (which included fishing and whale watching). An absolute must see & experience.

Had a great time. Beautiful views. Breath taking photography. Well worth the price. Bundle up, it’s cold out there on the water speeding to the glacier ahead of the ship. We saw waterfalls, glaciers, seals, and goats.

This was on our "to do" list as we had been there 10 years before, but all the vendors for transporting folks were not operating because of COVID. Need to check availability regarding access and transport before planning a visit.

Our Holland america ship got very close and we got to hear 7 see the glacier calving. Wonderful trip! (do the 14 day cruise)

Zodiac ride with expedition team from Windstar Star Legend to the Sawyer Glacier. Lots of calving including a plunger where the ice breaks off below the surface and rapidly comes up with turns and breaks causing waves to rock the Zodiac. Cute Harbor seals, some with pups.

Accessible only by boat, this is not to miss. The fjord ends in a glacier that continues to crumble into the sea. Sea lions dot the iceberg littered sea as you travel to the terminus.

Fun and beautiful just wished I saw more half was melted but what can we do because of global warming.

We signed up for the catamaran excursion from our Princess cruise ship and we boarded the catamaran boat which holds 138 passengers as the cruise ship enters the fjord directly off the cruise ship. The catamaran has a lower cabin and a smaller upper cabin, which provides a better panoramic view and provides shelter from the chilly wind as the catamaran travels at top speed to the glacier. After reaching near the northern part of Sawyer Glacier, the catamaran must slow down and maneuver carefully around the chunks of glacial ice floating in the water. This enables you to enjoy and take photos of the different shapes and some beautiful blue ice floating in the water as well as provide opportunity to spot land animals off the shoreline. We were able to spot a black bear and bald eagles using our binoculars. Our excursion boat provided binoculars but it is very inexpensive and difficult to use so its best to bring your own. We also saw a seal sunbathing on a piece of floating ice at this time. After spending time at the northern part of Sawyer Glacier, our catamaran headed to the southern part of the glacier which is where you see the icy wall of this glacier and if you're lucky, can experience some of the ice breaking off the glacier. This is the photographic part of the glacier so get your camera ready. After spending time here we went to the Ice Falls area. We followed that by passing the Tracy Arm Bar to Midway Island. Off of Midway Island is a sea lion colony with a lot of sea lions swimming and playing so get your camera ready. Quite a few sea lions actually swam toward our catamaran probably seeking a food hand out. After passing the sea lions, we continued north in the Stephens passage and sighted 2 humpback whales. After passing Grand Island, we were fortunate to spot some Orcas or killer whales before ending our excursion at Juneau. A well worth 6 hour excursion operated by Allen Marine...

AWESOME! We woke up that morning to small chunks of ice floating by the cruise ship. Those chunks got bigger the closer we got to the glacier. Our ship captain spun the ship in a donut so we could all see the glacier wherever we were on board.

The gorgeous blue shades of this glacier are spectacular! Much nicer experience than Mendenhall and highly recommend!

This is a beautiful tour and it was the favorite part of our Alaska trip! While we went on other boat tours, this was the only one where we saw the most beautiful blue iceberg "sculptures" and we saw orcas and ice calving off of Sawyer Glacier. We really would have missed out if we had not taken this trip and I highly recommend it!

Consider that this is a place that not all the cruise companies add as an stop, because you need to have good conditions to get near the glacier and sometimes the day you schedule you don't have it, so could be a little frustrating. But if you have the good luck to have conditions and can go near there it's a great experience as TRacy arm its a passage that have several glacier like Eddicott and Twin Sawyer. I have the opportunity to see Ediccot and it was incredible, doesn't matter you already see or know Hubbard or Mendenhall, every time you see a new glacier is a different and great expirience.

A very reasonable price for all that you get. A 9+ hour trip through incredible scenery. Friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides who were able to answer questions. Dress warmly! We were glad we did.

Great way to see a lot of the coastline, waterfalls, and the calving glacier! We’ll-worth the boat ride!
Snacks were onboard as well as lunch.

We kayaked here and spent several days in the area, but traveled to and from the location on the boat with Adventure Bound tours. We were blown away by the glacier-calving and seals at the South Sawyer glacier. We’ve kayaked to Aialik Glacier in Kenai Fjords, which is also magnificent, but calving from the South Sawyer Glacier was much more active and this glacier can be more safely approached. The pictures showing floating icebergs of all sizes in such abundance that you’re constantly bumping and passing them are accurate. It was a magnificent paddle, and the location is highly recommended.

The highlight of the cruise. This is also the reason that you get a balcony of a cruise ship. We entered the area of passage at about 6AM. We had room service deliver breakfast to us so we wouldn't miss anything.
It was a May, so it was a cold day (48-52 degrees), overcast, and a bit rainy, but it was beautiful. There were so many waterfalls coming off the mountains from the melting snow. The top 3rd of most of the mountains still had a decent amount of snow cover. As we reached deeper into the Fjord, the icebergs started appearing. They were a cool blue color.
Our ship was too big to get to the glacier, which is unfortunate, but the sights we saw were amazing.

Tranquil cruise through a Fiord. Never have been in a fiord. Majestic Scenery. Worth the side trip. Not far from Juneau.

Sailed into the Fjord with Lindblad Explorations, then took a Zodiac to a safe distance to the glacier. Fantastic site.

I had the most amazing time here! Beautiful icebergs, glacier calving, waterfalls, seals suntanning on icebergs and orcas! What more could you ask for! Bring drinks for the boat ride!

This fjord was one of the best Ive ever seen. I can't wait to go back. We were with carnival cruises and loved it!

Words cannot describe how beautiful this place is. Make sure you take a warm coat, hat and gloves as it’s a bit chilly. And a camera, got to have a camera!

We were on-board the Star Princess and only got within a mile of the glacier and therefore didn't experience anything other than a photo op. If you purchased an additional excursion for $230 you then went up to the face of the glacier. I won't recommend an itinerary featuring the North Arm of Tracy Arm Fjord if you want to see a glacier. The cruise up the fjord is really spectacular but again not close enough to the glacier.

Boarded a head boat directly off of Nieuw Amsterdam. Voyage to the glacier took 30 to 45 minutes through calm, glass like waters filled with ice bergs. Didn't see any wild life going to the glaciers. Got close to both Sawyer and South Sawyer glaciers. Beautiful. On the way back through Tracy Arm, on our way to Juneau, the captain spotted a disturbance ahead of the boat. "Probably seals", he said. Nope! Turned out to be a small pod of killer whales. They were heading south and we were heading north so there wasn't a lot of time to take pictures. Three adults swam right under the boat. I had never seen or photographed orcas before. Managed to get some great shots. This was a wonderful excursion.

I would highly recommend this tour. It was nice to see an actual glacier up close. We also saw icebergs and waterfalls that were beautiful!

Sailing up the beautiful fjord of Tracy Arm was the highlight of our cruise to Alaska. Mountains rearing up against a clear blue sky, aqua-blue glacier water with icebergs floating in it, and mind-boggling views of glaciers all add up to the best morning we have ever spent! Tracy Arm is a must-see if you are in the vicinity.

This was a great day on Carnival Legend. They shut all of the exterior speakers off, so you can immerse yourself in the quiet and calm of nature. The canals and bays leading to the fjord have lots of whales and other sea life (we even saw three separate pods of orcas), and the fjord itself has seals and some land wildlife, such as bears, though we were not lucky enough to spot any bears. A couple of tips: First, we did not take it, but based on the experiences of my family members who did, the excursion that takes you on a smaller tender boat up close to the glacier is definitely worth it. Second, if you are cruising the fjord on the main ship, as we did, the best spot is right up on the bow, just outside the gym. The wind can get very cold there, but it is the best vantage point. Had a great time and highly recommend it!

This is the best way to spend a day in Juneau. the sights of animals and nature were breathtaking and being on the open water with a smaller group of people (around 50) makes it more personal and impactful. The guide made sure to take every opportunities for us to see the sights and take photos of icebergs, wildlife, and of course the glacier itself. We got much closer than I assumed we would and spend a good amount of time there. So many seals!
The staff on the boat were nice and attentive. Since we were out so long, it was nice to have some sandwich, snacks, and hot chocolate offered, and kit was cheap also. They only do cash, though, so be prepared for that. We were allowed to go up to the captain's cabin as well, which was neat.

Probably the most beautiful and fascinating place I’ve ever seen. We booked an excursion through our cruise. If you have this opportunity don’t pass on it. This was the best money I’ve ever spent on an excursion. I had Ireland as a guide and she was a wealth of information.

We visited on a day trip from Juneau with Adventure Bound Alaska. The whole day was just incredible, but the glacier is definitely the signature sight. Stunning. We saw countless seals, sea lions, a bear, and a golden eagle sitting atop a blue iceberg. It was a rainy day when we visited so there were waterfalls everywhere. What an amazing area.

We had an amazing all day cruise with Cpt. Steve and his Adventure Bound crew! The fjord has the most spectacular views and we saw only 1 or 2 other boats the whole time. We got right up next to a waterfall and icebergs, close to see the glaciers calving multiple times (they said it was an unusually active day), and saw a bald eagle, seals and a bear. Pictures don't show the magnificent beauty! Highly recommend and don't forget gratuities!

Stunning and amazing beauty!! Was definitely worth cruising threw. It is serene & peaceful. Worth seeing and visiting.

We booked this through HAL July 2019.
Pros;
A most amazing adventure. We live in BC and found the sights to be totally astounding, a very emotional experience. The cliffs and water reminded me of scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean. All in all, worth the money. We got quite close to the South Sawyer Glacier, saw lots of wildlife, and had an overall great time. Bring a parka, toque, your own binoculars as theirs suck, your camera, and you're set. Also, bring a sandwich from your cruise ship as the food on this excursion suck too. Most tour employees were very nice and helpful. The captain was very good.
Cons;
The advertising says up close views of both Sawyer Glaciers. Not true. No explanation. Only South Sawyer Glacier. Kind of a let down, lots of customers were disappointed.
The food for purchase was not very good and serving staff was rude. $6 USD for just a wiener as they ran out of buns? lol
When they're raking in around $52,500 USD per boat load of people (150 x $350 USD), you'd think they could come up with a bloody sandwich.
Free to use binoculars were out of collimation.
Information from on-board tour guides was not always correct. For example, one fellow told customers there are only salmonberries in Alaska. lol
As we found out is typical for a cruise, you are exposed to up selling all the time. Same holds true for this contractor, Allen Marine Tours. Up selling their trinkets and smoked salmon. After starving your paying customers for 6 hours. lol

Our cruise ship did an amazing job getting close to the glacier allowing us to take some great pictures. Views from the ship as you enter the inlet were fantastic to see. This is a once in a lifetime experience in the natural environment.

Toured the Tracy Arm Fjord the first week of June. Incredible scenery. The cruise ship coasted through the fjord allowing plenty of viewing time. We came as close to the glacier as possible, avoiding the ice floating in the water. Great Views

This was an amazing tour of Glaicers and ice bergs, but it is a long day from Juneau. It is about 3 1/2 hours to the glaciers and icebergs, but it is gorgeous. There were sea lions near the Glacier, but hard to see. That was the only animals we saw. It is not a big boat and the bathrooms were not very good. You could buy snacks and sandwiches and drinks on the boat, but you can also bring your own food. I would definitely recommend it, to see the amazing views!

our big ship Celebrity Solstice got very close early morning like 7:30 am at around 46 degrees cold.

As part of the itinerary provided by Royal Caribbean, we pass through this beautiful place. Full of everything: views, color, life! ! !
This is the kind of places that makes you step back and wonder how one can be so ungrateful with Mother Nature.
A must if possible.

We got up close to icebergs that had calved from the glacier and saw the glacier calve more. Very educational. The crew was knowledgeable and very informative.

I knew this world held beauty I had not seen, but never imagined this beauty. Up close and personal, it is indescribable! A must see- save your pennies, you will be changed!

Highly recommend! It is a long trip, lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery to be seen. Allen Marine Catamaran was comfy and the crew was professional.

9 hour boat ride with a delightful crew and perfect weather! We spent the entire time on the deck. The Captain narrated the area. Just wonderful.

Went on a cruise to Alaska, my first time, and thoroughly enjoyed it. As it was the first cruise out of LA, I didn't see any bears, was told they were just coming out of hibernation with their Cubs. I saw some whales, bald eagles, so well pleased. The scenery was wonderful. I was supprised how warm it was as the previous week I was told it was very cold. I would love to go again, but didn't like the long journey from UK.

The Tracy Arm fjord is really spectacular. The views are fantastic and you get close to the glaciers and ice floes and if you are lucky, you get to see plenty of wildlife. Well worth experiencing.

We had a beautiful and sunny day while sailing through the Tracy Arm Fjord on the cruise ship. There were eagles flying overhead, some ice bergs and seals in the water and amazing views of waterfalls. It was scenic and tranquil and we really enjoyed it.

This trip was the best day of our week's cruise. All days were wonderful, but the scenery here is amazing. There is so much to look at. We were particularly awed by the colors in the icebergs.

This was by far our favorite excursion in Alaska. We were on the fence as our cruise ship could get relatively close but that was NOTHING compared to what we saw up close on this excursion. We got up close and personal with both the North and South glaciers, so many harbor seals, and even had about 20 minutes with a family of orcas. The staff is amazing, the boat comfortable and our crew made us homemade smoked salmon dip. If you're on the fence about taking this excursion, DO IT!

We left the cruise ship and boarded a catamaran which enable us to get close up to the glaciers. Beautiful fjord! Waterfalls! Eagle floating on ice! The water is an amazing color.
The crew pulled up some glacier ice and used it in cocktails!
Highly recommend this as an excursion, not aboard a large cruise ship

We viewed this from the ship as it spun around for multiple views. Just gorgeous. There were cool pieces of the glacier floating around in the water, they had a unique color.

One stop on our small boat cruise was to Tracy Arm and the glacier. It was beautiful and we saw many "calving" events as ice fell off into the sea. There were seal pups all over the ice near shore and bald eagles all around. It was breathtaking.

Excellent.
Fabulous scenery, spectacular waterfalls and glacier experience.
Room for improvement on the coffee and snacks

We were really looking forward to this part of the cruise. Going through the Fjord was great, and having a balcony room is definitely a plus. Tons a beautiful scenery. We didn't get right next to the glacier, but it was close enough to enjoy it and get some great pictures.

We visited on a cruise ship and spent about 2 hours watching the huge chunks of the glacier falling into the sea. Well worth the trip

We saw the Endicott Glacier from the Royal Carribean Ovation of the Seas. The masterful captain pulled in close and then did 360 turns - twice- so all could see the magnificent scene from their balconies. Up and down the arm were beautiful mountain views and sea lions perched on small ice islands. Well worth the trip.

Highly recommended. We booked this trip through Adventure Bound, as part of our independent trip in Juneau. Meaning not part of any tour, cruise, etc. We were on a nice, small boat, with good crew, and were able to get very close to the glacier and other sights. Saw whales, porpoises, eagles, etc. It is a full day, 9am to 5:30pm on the boat, so might be tough for smaller children. One hint, if you are not part of a cruise group, they tell you to show up at 8:30, then you go to the boat, by which time the tour groups have taken all of the window seats. If this is important to you, show up earlier.

This was an excursion scheduled through Carnival. It was not at a port but you get on a small boat while still at sea in the Fjord. The ship did navigate into the Fjord quite a ways. Not all the way to the glacier because of calving and large pieces of ice. It was stunning, the nature was just amazing. Even on the ship it was just beautiful. Once we got on the small boat we were out for about 2 hours and they took us right to the glacier and there was sea lion pups. Then they took us close to several waterfalls. We seen Bald Eagles too. On the way back, we were almost to the ship when a Orca whale was spotted and they turned the boat around to get a better view of the whale. During this trip you can stand inside or outside the boat. They also had drinks available. It was beautiful site.

Approaching the Yracy Arm glacier up the icy waters of the fjord was exciting. Seeing the waterfalls from the mountains that surround the fjord is very picturesque. Take a tour and you will fill your camers with thrilling views.

Well worth the trip you will never see a more beautiful nature tour. The sights are unreal nature at its best

We went on a large cruise ship "Explorer of the Seas" and there was a mini-heat wave with quite warm weather in mid-September which resulted in a lot of ice carving. Unfortunately our captain felt it was not safe to take the ship into all that ice so we could only see the glacier at great distance. All we saw was a lot of small icebergs coming down the fiord.
There was also a good night of Aurora predicted the night before but rather than stay up late I went to bed so that we could be up early to see the glacier. Others said it was an exceptional Aurora so I missed that AND the glacier!
Oh well life is all luck and we have to take the good with the bad!

We were able to cruise Tracy Arm Fjord while aboard the Carnival Miracle. The scenery is majestic and Amazing!! Pictures can’t do it justice. It has to be seen in person.

We were on a Princess cruise and, having been through the Tracy Arm Fjord before, opted for a ship tour on a smaller ship. We disembarked onto a tour ship at the beginning of the Fjord for a six hour journey we will never forget.
There is so much beauty to see in Tracy Arm. We were fortunate to be able to cruise the Seward glacier, as well, and saw spectacular vistas, whales, sea lions and more. This side trip was a bit pricey but it was worth every cent. We were close to the waterfall, to the glacier, to nature. We heard the glacier calving and saw marine life at rest.
This was a perfect tour!

What a beautiful area!! Our cruise was beyond great and this was our first stop. Beauty beyond description!

What a great place to whale watch. We saw orcas with a baby and others. Wonderful views and great experience. I even liked the bus ride to our boat. Don't miss this opportunity.

This area of Glacier Bay is better than the other glacier areas because it is the biggest tidal glaciers that are left in the Park.

We had a wonderful time in Alaska on our 10-day Carnival Miracle Cruise. We went on 31 August, and the temperature was in the 50s, and there was no rain. I recommend Juneau Alaska.

Denali, The Kenai peninsula, 5 rail legs, a flight over the mountains from Juneau to Skagway, and a helicopter landing on a glacier.....all were topped by sailing with Captain Steve to the Sawyer Tidal Glacier at the end of Tracy Arm.
We watched the glacier “calf”, and listened to the glacier creak, for well over an hour. What a thrill!!!

We had an excellent guide on our 4 hour walk through the Tsongass Forrest last August 2019! Our college age guide was a descendant of the Tinglit people and not only knowledge about the forrest, the wildlife, the history but also of the natural medicines available to treat a variety of remedies. Our group was given the choice to sample some of these wild berries, leaves, roots, along our walk! We saw all kinds of wildlife and stayed well on the path. We came upon fresh bear scat and fresh foot tracks of most likely a mother bear and cubs, so we high tailed it back to base with the men flanking the rear. I can say for sure that our guide and all on the tour were relieved to get back to our van! A wonderful adventure and we have happy memories and photos!

August is the best time to view this place; I’ve seen great calving! If the rainfall is heavy the waterfalls are amazing!

If you are looking to Glacier or Wild Life watch, Juneau is the place to be. A close up look at the Glaciers are quite magical and leave you in awe.

This is the most peaceful place I have ever been in all my travels. If you want to know serenity, this is it.

We were speechless at the sight of this glacier and the surrounding area. There were tons of waterfalls, beautiful trees, chunks of ice, and of course the glacier. We saw seals and otters as well. Absolutely stunning!

Excellent trip that will bring you up close to nature. Highly recommended. Glaciers, Icebergs, seals, goats, bears, eagles, whales, waterfalls.

This was our best day of glacier-viewing on our small-ship cruise of the Inside Passage. We boarded the DIBs (inflatable boats seating 16) and were guided through bergie bits of ice, close to icebergs and spent close to an hour marveling at the nearby calving glacier. Sea lions were lounging on the ice and there was only one other small ship in sight. Our six grandkids loved it and we got some great pictures. Magical!

The Tracy Arm Fjord was beautiful, but was way off in the distance. It was amazing, even at a distance.

There is not enough words to describe this place. So serene and quiet. No matter how many times you come to this place you cannot help but enjoy the views

Our cruise ship went through the Tracy Arm Fjord. This was an opportunity to see ice bergs close up as we passed. Beautiful scenery.

Our visit to Tracy Arms Fjord was part of a 7-day cruise out of Seattle, but the cruise itself will be reviewed in another installment, so look for it!
Anyway, The scenery in Tracy Arms is STUNNING. We were told a day in advance that the skies were going to be overcast, but no rain so we were prepared for that. The other couple we were with and us were all in our 60's, we bundled up, and spent about 5 hours on the upper deck in the elements snapping more pictures than you can imagine. The low-hanging clouds and fog added an eerie effect to the pics as you can see. Plenty of waterfalls, small icebergs, and at the end of the Fjord ... there it was - Sawyer Glacier.
If you love travelling like we do, take a cruise out of Seattle and witness the beauty of this area!

If you ever get the chance to cruise Glacier Bay you have to do it. It is amazing seeing and experiencing this remote wilderness. Seeing seals on the icebergs was great

the captain and crew of the Captain Cook made our trip very special. I would recommend this trip to all.

Gorgeous, a must see.
On our honeymoon. We laid on a round shaded wicker sun bed on one of the upper decks of the ship and just breathed in the amazement that is Tracy Arm Fjord. On our cruise we went through here before hitting anywhere else in Alaska and it set a very high bar for the state.
Just a FEW pics.

We took this excursion on the last Friday in September 2018. The next day was going to be the last boat trips to this area for the year. We were not connected to a cruise ship and stayed in Juneau several extra days in order to get a spot on the boat for the trip. The point is make your reservations early and just hope you are exceptionally lucky and get a sunny day. We did! Our boat was about half full with locals and people who work in the tourist industry. There was a real comradely on our trip with everybody sharing their knowledge of the tourist industry as well as the geology and geography of the area. We had EXCEPTIONALLY calm seas so if you have any tendency for motion sickness take your medication. When I signed up for this trip on line my thoughts were this was rather pricey but after taking the trip I was amazed it cost so little. You are on the water all day leaving on time and returning on time. Sandwiches are available on board but honestly I would pack substantial snacks if you can. Our captain was excellent...maneuvering our boat close to waterfalls and around icebergs which shimmered in the bright sun. We saw marine mammals and bald eagles perched atop icebergs. I have not gone through my pictures yet but I probably have 200 just from this one 8 hour trip. There was something new and amazing the entire length of the trip. Honestly I would plan your cruise or trip to Alaska around a boat excursion to Tracy Arm.

This was the most amazing sub-trip of our trip to Alaska. Tracy Arm Fjord is outstandingly beautiful. We were so lucky to see Killer Whales, harbor seals and hump back whales all during this cruise. The Captain of the cruise, Jess, was so open, experienced and welcoming and provided much information that made the cruise more enjoyable. We learned a lot. Fabulous!

I’m convinced that Tracy Arm Fjord is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I was just in awe the entire time. The boat was not the newest and did slightly smell but it was acceptable. It took us a long time to actually get out to the fjord. We did not see that much wildlife on the way. It was still pretty though. Once we got to Tracy Arm Fjord it was absolutely incredible. The waterfalls, blue water, icebergs, green valleys, seals, and glaciers were amazing. I loved this trip and could not recommend it enough. Wear warm clothes, pack a snack, and make sure your phone is charged!

I spent the whole of June ‘19 travelling across Canada for 3 weeks followed by an 8 day Alaskan inside passage Cruise. I witnessed and experienced some amazing things including a flight over Niagara Falls and Dog Sledding on a Rockies Glacier.
However, clear top (and that’s saying something !) amongst the numerous highlights was the Tracy Arm Fjord Cruise. The Cruise lasted 6.5 hours. It started with a switch from cruise ship to a smaller vessel (100 people ?) at 9am with a return to Juneau at 3:30pm. It was spectacular throughout. We cleared early fog to find ourselves on mill pond like water surrounded by magnificent snow capped mountains, valleys and tree lined rock faces, numerous waterfalls, mind boggling ice floes and jaw dropping glaciers. And then there was the wildlife ! As we travelled through the area every turn delivered yet another incredible view. So good was the spectacle any food time outs were very brief affairs ! There were early sightings of bald eagles, basking seals, brown bears at the waters edge and whales ! As we headed towards Juneau we came across a humpback whale crashing it’s fins on the water before submerging and a few seconds later performing a full breach right in front of us. Quite the spectacular finish to the cruise !
Researching this excursion pre cruise it looked fantastic, but exceeded those expectations considerably. I was advised to pre book and was so glad I did as it had sold out when I boarded.
If you are doing one excursion make this the one if you possibly can. Truly magnificent.

Alaska in general is a beautiful state so I was pleasantly surprised when I found Tracy Arm Fjord to be even more beautiful than the other areas. We saw whales and dolphins on the way there from Juneau and we saw a bear and her cubs on the shore while we were there. The glaciers and waterfalls were incredible and worth the trip. This place is incredible.

Rated as poor solely because we never really got to experience it - make sure that it isn't the time when seals are having their pups as access for cruise ships for about two weeks is not allowed.

Of course we were on a cruise when we travelled to the fjord. It was a beautiful day and good weather certainly enhances the surroundings. This is as good as it gets for viewing parts of a glacier short of having to travel by helicopter for a closer view. No seals in sight but everyone enjoyed the view for the duration that the ship was there. Surprisingly it was not that cold outside!

Another must do In Alaska if you happen to be on a ship that goes into this fjord. Absolutely beautiful and amazing!

We did a cruise this August into Tracy Arm Fjord and it was cold but beautiful view. There were only pieces of glaciers however view was spectacular of mountains and several waterfalls coming down the mountain. It is very cold so may sure you bring gloves, scarf and work jacket.

A long, scenic boat ride to the glacier. Plenty of opportunities for iceberg pictures and up close experience with Sawyer glacier. Wildlife on the tour as well, seal, sea lions, eagles and sometimes bears and mountain goat.

Even on a cloudy day it was beautiful cruising up “the Arm” to the Glacier (well, as close as we got). We saw many humpback whales on our way in too - a treat!!

Our day trip from Juneau on the MV Captain Cook took us to Tracy Arm and the amazing Sawyer Glacier. The scenery was fantastic. A highlight - somewhat less desirable but eye-opening nonetheless - was the continual calving from the end of the glacier. It was a chilling example of the terrible effects of global warming..

The views are wonderful! The crew was very knowledgeable, and answered everybody's questions. We even had a chance to have glacier ice in our drink that was scooped out of the water. This is a tour not to miss.

The crew, Sofia & Alicia, on the Ocean Endeavor were so friendly and lovely. They made such an effort to find what we were looking for such as whales and bears. The glacier itself was so beautiful and the journey was even better. Definitely recommend
Beautiful day and scenic vistas
Although there was too much ice in the water to get as close to the glacier as I'd hoped, it was still a day spent on the deck of the ship seeing the stunning scenery of the fjord. This was our first glimpse of the beautiful snow capped mountains, icebergs floating by and the blue skies maing it nearly magical.
