Discover the Asylum Tour - 8/18/25
All day tour with access to a majority of many of the buildings... lots of information and personal stories shared in a relatively small group (9 in our tour group).
The buildings were intriguing, the staff was pleasant and accommodating, and the tour guides were well prepared and knowledgeable.
If interested in the history of this psychiatric facility and the care provided, and related paranormal events, this tour is a great choice.

This is a must for anyone interested in the supernatural. I've visited here twice once for the overnight ghost tour and once for the day tour. I would recommend the overnight more as my wife and I both grabbed by something that was not there. It truly lived up to its reputation as being one of the most haunted places in the US.

My sister and I have always wanted to visit, but every time we had a chance to go, it was closed. This year, however, I was able to visit her (she lives in Pittsburgh, I live in Georgia) in October. Guess what was open? Yes! We took a trip down to WV, and both of us were so excited. We went on 2 different tours, and both were absolutely AMAZING!! Our tour guides were honestly the BEST!! We learned so much about the history and the hauntings. I mean, I can't wait to go back next year. We are hoping to get a few more family members and friends together and actually do an overnight. I can't wait for that either! If you are looking for a great tour of history - make sure you hear how WV was funded when it broke away from VA during the Civil War and if you are looking for a great tour of hauntings - wait until you see Emily's room, you will enjoy every moment of going here and taking those tours. Side note - make sure you take some cash to tip your guides. They are worth every cent!!

When I went to the museum one thing I liked was the model A FORD car and the fish in the water fountain and the tours

The guides were pretty good, the place is pretty cool, my friend Wilton was pretty scared just like the rest of my class.

I brought my friend for her first paranormal investigation. I was disappointed because there was so much noise contamination. There were many people above and below us on other floors which could be heard clearly as well as a lot of traffic sounds that carried from town through the building. Once you arrive you find out that the spirits prefer familiar people to interact with so tourists aren't likely to get much. It also lasted a very long time. And we couldn't stay awake any longer. If you've never done a ghost hunt or paranormal investigating it might be fun. I would prefer to rent the entire space to have access limited if I ever come back.

The trip was very exciting and interesting, I learned a lot of new things about what they did back then. Our guides were very nice and they new what they were talking about. The only thing that really creeped me out was the lobotomy. I really liked that their were the manikins expressing things.

We did the 1st Floor South tour with Jessica & she was a fantastic guide! I’ve always heard about this place but have never visited, & I must say that I left with a lot of new information — as well as a bit of feeling of “melancholy” for what the patients went through. I will definitely be back for more tours.

Me and my mom stopped there and went on the criminally insane tour. Our guide Shay was amazing and we learned alot especially in how understaffed they were. All of which mirrors prison and hospital systems today.

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is one of the most interesting historical sites in West Virginia. I learned a lot about the history of the asylum during my trip. The tour we took was very brief, but our tour guides taught us the basic history of the building extremely well. They made sure to list facts about every room we were in, as well as its purpose. Would definitely recommend if you’re interested in history, psychology, or strange events.

Passed through Weston on our way back from Asheville, NC to Toronto and on a lark stopped by for a tour. Boy did we get our money's worth! We took the 4-Floor Tour. Worth every penny. The tour was 90 minutes but I did not look at my watch once. Fully of history - how the asylum started, changes that occurred to the structure and management of patients, major events, etc. A fascinating walk-through. John was an excellent tour-guide - from Weston himself so was able to provide personal accounts of growing up near the asylum. A word of advice if visiting in summer - it's HOT inside. Dress appropriately and take a water bottle. Highly recommend and if I'm ever in the area again would definitely stop by for one of the other tours.

I had much fun with my fellow piers.Colin Jessica and Connie are my beasties they taught me so much.

From the moment we stepped inside, I knew this wasn’t going to be your typical historical tour. Imagine if a history buff and a stand-up comedian had a baby—John would be that love child.
As we wandered through the dimly lit halls adorned with quirky artwork (one of which appeared to be a finger painting by a very enthusiastic resident), John regaled us with tales from the asylum's gloriously eccentric past. L
By the end of the tour, I couldn’t tell if I was laughing more at John or the eccentricities of the asylum itself—but let’s be honest, it was a perfect blend of both. If you’re looking for a tour that will leave you howling with laughter while also giving you a peek into the peculiar, be sure to ask for John . Just be prepared to embrace the madness—it’s a wild ride!

Our tour guide was the best. This a must see and understand what happened at the asylum. We did the 4 floor and medical building.

We had an excellent adventure! My brother and his family had never been here. My sister and I had. We all got together and made a day of it. Great history!

The tour was very informative. The guides are all dressed as nursing staff, adding to the experience. Amazing facts were shared. Some sad but true stories.

The trip was overall pretty good but the one things I didn’t like is I saw no ghosts and it was very cold. Would rather play Fortnite.

This is a very large facility. Did 4 floor tour which gives the full picture of operation. Connie, guide, did a great job of outlining daily tasks of facility including all residents (children, adults male & female, insane criminals), The living quarters of nurses and the offices of administration also viewed on 4 Floor tour. This is a huge facility without elevators available, so a lot of walking & climbing stairs. Also would not bring small children. As a history lover, I found this tour a must do.

What a unique and informative tour! There is free parking and an easy check in for the waiver and purchase. They offer a variety of tour options. We took the 4 floor 90-minute tour.

Pros: 1) FREE parking! 2) Creepy as heck! Total Silent Hill feels. 3) Amazing renovated spaces. 4) Beautiful outside structure. 5) Cute town 6) Museum section was a nice way to kill time til tour started and well curated 6) Had real restrooms for use 7) Takes credit cards 8) Gift shop offers discount if using cash 8) Gift shop sells bottled water for $2 each
Cons: 1) Poor signage. Sign the waiver before you get in line for tickets. 2) No a/c or heat. 3) Confusing poorly organized website. 4) Couldn’t hear our guide. 5) Some tickets not available for purchase online
Tips: Bring water and a fan or a wet towel on a hot day! Wear deodorant 😉 Dress warm if a cool day. Definitely bring a camera! No shade so bring a sun shade for your car. Wear comfy shoes. No elevator so make sure you can climb stairs and walk ok.

I did the 45 minute historic tour and it was great - the tour guide did a fantastic job and it was reasonably priced ($16). There are lots of other tours to choose from and there are neat exhibits as well.

It was neat seeing all of the old artifacts in the museum. Colin and Connie could speak better. But they were nice. It was very cold. Would rather play Fortnite.

We would definitely do it again soon. And invite more friends. Hope to do a night tour next time. Recommend to anyone wanting to know about history.

Had a great time! Everything was so well organized so we had plenty of time on each floor to investigate thoroughly. Our guide Kelsey was awesome! Very helpful and informative. Will 100% return, well worth the almost 6hr drive from PA!

My school did the educational tour. We had learned about the war and all the things they thought would cure the insane. The art work and mask were pretty interesting.

Some things I enjoyed was how the tour guides gave a lot of information about the trans-Allegheny lunatic asylum and what the place did and then the art they made the rooms was cool to look inside of. The people that were there was really cool/good about the place. The tools and whatever else they had in the mental health hospital.

My boyfriend and I went on the historic tour of all 4 floors. Our tour guide was John who was amazing. 10/10 would go back as long as he was our guide. Be sure to request him if you’re looking to be informed and entertained. This place is so cool and interesting if you’re into creepy history.

The trip was amazing really enjoyed getting to explore it and know the history of it an how it became to be.

I have been twice, once to the main building and the other to the outside buildings. I had great experiences each time and learned a lot from the people sharing the experience. It's definitely not rigged for the scare reaction. Looking forward to a third visit

This was definitely an experience you won't get anywhere else! My husband enjoyed it more than I did because he loves odd things. I will say that we drove 3 hours to see it and I don't think it was worth that long of a drive. If you're in the area, it's something cool to do for sure. Miranda was great and knew her stuff! The tour was very informative. We took the 4-floor tour, but we were unable to go into the medical building because a piece of the ceiling had fallen that day. I wish they had more trendy shirts in the gift shop because I think they would make more money for the restoration.

gorgeous old building with so much history Nothing like what I expected. we did the 4 floor tour; of course you have to climb steps ,we are seniors & managed easily enough. it was so enlightening, full of contrasts. It was not sad or depressing or tragic & scary, facts were presented clearly with the highs & lows of treatments & living conditions over the years. Beautiful place with a fascinating history. Highly recommend! Located just a few miles off the interstate , very easy stop while traveling

Lots of fun for the whole family. Very educational if you take the history tour and scary fun if you take

We had an awesome experience with our tour of the asylum. I do suggest bringing some water and be sure you have some good walking shoes. The tour said 90 min but our tour guide lost his watch 🤣🤣 and our tour was 2 and a half hours. We learned a lot of history. They have several little museums you can read through the history at your own pace. They have night tours some might enjoy.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we learned so much! Highly recommend the 4 floor tour which took around 2 hours. Everyone was very friendly!

We visited the asylum this past weekend. I was very excited to tour the building and was not disappointed. Our tour guide was so nice and informative. She answered all of our questions and made the tour so interesting. Will definitely return for the paranormal tour.

Very cool! Savana was an awesome guide. Very educational. So much to see. We will have to visit again because I know we missed a lot. We are trying to get some of our friends to come next time.

Was a very cool experience I really felt and pictured the asylum back before it closed down. John was a pretty good tour guide making fun jokes while covering all the information he needed to. Overall I recommend going to this asylum.

This place is massive. The tour is more interesting than you might think. They have a tour for everyone. John was an excellent guide. The only downfall is only porta potty for the bathroom. Make sure to visit the museum as well.

The history of the facilities and grounds was excellent. Our guide Brad was well informed and he made the tour very enjoyable. If you are in the area, check it out. The items in the museum were interesting to see. The place shows how far we have come as a nation in our treatment of the mentally ill.

Collin was amazing! He was soooo very knowledgeable and we loved how authentic he was. My friends are obsessed and can’t stop talking about how great this tour was.

Tour and Guide were great , loved seeing the rooms and buildings , very cool atmosphere and plan on coming back for some of the flashlight tours and possibly the ball

The tour was valuable information regarding our history and how women were property. The information on the lobotomies was worth exploring further after the tour.

Amy was a great tour guide. Amazing experience, enjoyed history and paranormal stories over the years of the Trans Alleghany Lunatic Asylum

Colin met us at the door.
Asked us what we were doing there and why were visiting.
We talked a little bit about the tours.
He recommended the Criminally Insane tour…Which he led. 45 minutes.
He was most excellent.
We then did the VIP tour with Amy. (which is only available some of the time)
It was 90 minutes long and did all 4 floors of the asylum.
She was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant.
I highly recommend going on the tours.
10/10!!

The trip was amazing, our tour guide, Jessica, was extremely informative. It was an awesome experience. Would definitely do it again.

My family and I had an amazing time touring the 4 stories of this site. Our tour guide John had a great sense of humor while simultaneously being respectful and informative while sharing all of the history. This experience was overall 10/10 and so affordable!!

We moved to the area about a year ago but had always known of the history of the insane asylum. We had a fabulous time doing the paranormal tour. My husband, daughter, and cousin who is visiting us fromTennessee. From the time we arrived until we left employees were very hospitable and professional. There is many ways you could see these tours could get off track but our guide was wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable, and courteous to all of us in the large group but also very respectful to the spirits in the hospital. If you enjoy history and being scared, if you enjoy learning about history but also possibly talking or playing with spirits, if paranormal activity that is based on real history then This is the place for you to check out! We felt prices were reasonable on tickets and in the gift store. I will post some pictures for you to enjoy notice one has an orb in it - not sure what it was suppose to be. My cousin used a ghost finder app while we were on tour and we saw at the least 4 of the spirits that our guide referred to- very exciting! The men’s hallway they were playful with us and the guides flashlight and noises. I’m sure everyone who goes will have different experiences but I know We will be going back! Enjoy if you go !

I had a good time. I liked learning more about it i have been before but this time was better than the last time. It was a good little trip.

Cannot think of anything but make sure you have coffee staff was friendly and efficient. Did not see any shadows or any spooky stuff other than box going off couple of times

We were toured by Connie. It was very interesting and fun, however I do feel as if the tour was rushed.

I love this place so much. I think I learn something new every time I stop by. I took a paranormal tour this morning, and it was truly amazing. Shaye was the tour guide and he was FANTASTIC. He was very kind, funny, and thorough. He said he just started doing tours this week. It seemed like he had been doing them for years. Truly a great experience. Can't wait to come back again!

The Asylum Ball was a big joke … just a big drunken college type party. not worth the effort Unless you are a pothead or drunk.
Asylum tour was very interesting. Worth going just because of the historic building and the way it was built. Your was led by a young girl that was somewhat knowledgeable.

This place was amazing. We took the VIP tour and our tour guide, Greg, was very knowledgeable about the history of this institution. He was generous with the historical facts, as well as paranormal activity. A definite recommend, but be aware there are 4 flights of stairs you take up and back down.

This tour was both fascinating and educational. Being able to tour a former institution and understand how it was intended to be, the meaning behind the architecture/structure/design of the building, the therapeutic nature, and then the demise due to societal changes, and the eventual closing, was captivating. Special shout out to John, our tour guide, who provided extensive background on the history of the asylum as well as a few stories from those times. I highly recommend taking the Main building tour (4 stories – be prepared to climb steps) to capture a sense of the past and how far acceptance, recognition and treatment for mental health has come.

Something’s that I liked was how the tour guides told us the history on the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Another thing that was good was the rooms I thought that they were pretty cool and how it stayed the same. The thing that I liked in the museum was the model A ford. The another thing that I liked was the mask and how they made them. The way they did the lobotomy was crazy that they did that just to calm them down.

Jess, our guide was absolutely fantastic as always. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Had a wonderful time as always.

We had a great time! We did multiple tours while we were there. Very informative and the guides were knowledgeable and friendly.

I went here for a school trip. On the educational tour we learned about the building and what the buildings there were built for. The buildings were very beautiful. While waiting for the next tour group we got to look at the rooms that were open. On one of the museum wings there was a room full of the art from the patients. The paintings and art there were very mesmerizing. In another room on the museum wings was full of mannequins that showed the different types of torture. Then in a different room there was a glass case full of bottles of medicine hanging by clear string. And a window with all the old room keys hanging in it.

Our tour guide, Colin, was excellent and provided a very good and thorough history of the asylum. The facilities and architecture were amazing to see. Very informative museum on site. Worth a visit to understand the history of how the mentally ill were mistreated and why institutions like this one needed to close.

Signed up for the 4 floors tour. Couldn't believe how fast the time went. Very interesting. So much to see. Almost want to take the tour again just to catch what we might have missed. The museum wing is a must too.

My husband and I did the DISCOVERY tour today! It was a 6 hour tour of the main building and several of the other buildings. Greg and Amy were VERY knowledgeable and entertaining! We highly recommend going to the asylum and taking this tour!

We did the paranormal day tour with your guide Brad. He was a very awesome guide. He was very knowledgeable of all the paranormal and history. 10/10 would recommend!

We got there early and viewed the museum while we waited on our tour. We took the 90 min 4 floor tour and really enjoyed the history. The asylum museum and tour were very respectful to mental illnesses. Jeremiah was our tour guide and did a wonderful job. It is definitely worth a visit.

Went there on Saturday and Connie was our guide and did a great hob. I would highly recommend. It's was very knowledgeable and can't wait until the next visit.

My favorite part of the trip was when I could see the model a ford. Also the building is cool because you can see the layout of the structure. The tools used in the building of the trans Allegheny lunatic asylum. Next reason is the old architecture of the building is not like you see to day.

It was very interesting, the tour was great, and all the staff were very informational and friendly. The only problem I had was the historical tour needed a little bit more. I felt that we learned what we already knew and I wanted to see more. Over all very nice and interesting trip!

My husband and I had Colin as our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and kept us interested from the start to the end. Little tit-bits of information from the way the building's stones differed from front to back to the lobotomy procedure given to many of this asylum's patients really peaked my interest. We are glad that we went. Definitely worth the money. Thanks again Colin!

We did the fourth floor tour. It was so informative and our tour guide Rose was great. You get a lot for your money. Recommend for sure.

Our tour guide Amy was amazing. She know everything about the history of this place. We took the VIP tour. And had a very spooky experience. During the upstairs wing tour the door buzzer rang out. The only problem was there was no electric and never a door buzzer. Strange but super exciting. I highly recommend going here. There is so much to see and so many tours to choose. Prices are also very good. Thank you Amy for a great tour. They are also doing renovations to put it back to original. Amazing

my husband and i went to this asylum not knowing anything about the tours. Colin Did a wonderful job answering all questions our group had and explaining all the details of history we needed to know. he truly did an excellent job!

The tour guides were very informative and told us lots of interesting and cool facts. I liked how when you weren’t on the tour guide you were able to wander around in some of the rooms. I would recommend going.

We had a great tour and our tour guide Colin was great. The architecture is beautiful. The older sections really had an eerie feeling.

Admission prices are reasonable and there is a variety of tour options. This was our first visit, we went for the 90 minute Four Floor Tour. The tour was well paced and very informative. In addition, you get access to the museum area. Overall, I found the museum to be very well done. We will definitely be coming back to check out their other tour options.

An unforgettable tour that highlighted the challenges of providing mental health services in earlier epochs. Our guide, John, combined a professional grasp of the history and challenges this facility faced in providing mental health care during the late 1800s to the mid-1900s and beyond, until it closed in 1994. He was knowledgeable and entertaining, all the while being respectful of the patients who sometimes suffered greatly in this facility. I was somewhat reluctant to tour the place when my wife first suggested it, but am glad I did. I learned a good deal about the evolution of mental health treatment over the centuries. Definitely recommend asking for John as your tour guide!

While there we signed up for 2 tours, they had several more offered. I wish we planned better so we could have stayed longer. There is a good bit to look at in their museum areas. Our tour guide was Rose, she was super nice and gave detailed information along the way of our tour. Would definitely recommend visiting Trans-Allegheny!

After seeing this place on the various ghost shows for years, my family of four (boys age 13 and 15), were finally able to visit opting for the 90 minute daytime paranormal tour. Our guide, Cayleigh, was very personable and knowledgeable about the former hospital and even shared her experiences during the visit. The price of admission goes right back into restoring the building and there is an impressive museum on the ground floor that you can meander through either before or after your tour. I think that potential visitors should keep in mind that the 90 minute paranormal tour is just that, a TOUR. Cayleigh did give us ample time to explore the different floors but because it is only 90 minutes there is a schedule to keep and if you want more time then I suggest the numerous ghost HUNTS that they offer. It was a wonderful opportunity to walk around the abandoned wards and we will be back for the historical tour and maybe even the night time tour.

Our First time was amazing. We booked the 4 floors tour lots of walking around. Our Tour guide Jessica was amazing, she told us all about the history of the place. It was an awesome place to visit.

Greg from the VIP tour is really cool 10/10. Was definitely worth the trip, very fun. Had a silly time. Greg is a huge W.

This was an amazing experience, a lot of history and the tour was great. Our tour guide Miranda was awesome. Highly recommended activity

We did 2 tours. 1st one was the 90min (4) floors. Definitely recommend this tour was so amazing and full of history. John was our tour guide and he was INCREDIBLE!!! They have done a great job preserving.
2nd tour we did was the bldg for Criminally Insane a very big let down especially after the 1st tour. Basically a big concrete bldg not much to see lots of similarities to a prison. Would not recommend this one.

Very worthwhile visit on a recent family trip. While we did not experience anything paranormal during our visit, we did learn quite a bit about the history of mental health treatment and the asylum.

We did the 90 minute tour. Our tour guide, Harman, was fantastic. He had Answers to everyone’s questions, he was funny, serious, and just overall knowledgeable. The tour was extremely interesting. 10/10 recommended!

I have been to TALA many times on over night hunts. It NEVER disappoints. Last week we did both a daytime historical tour and an over night ghost hunt. Starting with the daytime historical tour: we had John Sandy as our tour guide and he was terrific! Tons of knowledge shared, a good sense of humor, and a job well done. We learned so much information we never knew and it was a totally different experience seeing that gorgeous building in the daylight.
The over night ghost hunt was also, as usual, a great time! A good tour guide certainly makes the event and we had Bree (sorry I did not get a last name) but she has a cool bat tattoo lol and she was absolutely wonderful. Tons of information as well, she interacted with our group and we investigated some with her. The only downfall or “negative” thing I could say about that night was a lady, who was by herself in our group, got upset not even two hours into the investigation by my friends and I. She packed up her stuff and started walking by, Bree asked her if she was okay and she made a comment about the heat and the noise. We started on the 4th floor which has the original flooring, the floorboards are loud and that’s something we could not help. My friends and I have been many times and we know how much it sucks to have someone loud in our group so we always try to maintain our voices and whisper. I even apologized for the loud floorboards as we walked by this woman while she was still set up in the hallway.
She stormed out of the building and sped out of the parking lot, someone else was outside and said it looked as if she almost hit something tearing out of the lot and down the street. Not something I would miss out on if I got the opportunity to tour it plus the $100 for the ticket, over some loud floorboards less than two hours into the tour. It was super hot but that was expected. We had tons of activity, shadow figures, smells, and some flashlight communication. It’s a spooky cool place and I’m already ready to go back in October for another hunt! Check this place out if you haven’t. It’s worth it!

We had a great time at our visit! We did the historic 4 floor tour with Connie, I've visited multiple times in the past and Connie's tour was the best by far. Her personal touch and stories about the hospital really make the difference!

Went here with my dad. The worst I can say is it's quite stuffy, so dress light in the Summer. We went on the Paranormal Daytime Tour, and it was quite atmospheric and educational. It was a fantastic experience. Brad is an incredible guide!

We were lucky enough to have just us and the tour guide, we went on a Thursday. We did the 90 minute Paranormal Tour. We got to see all the floors and hear all the stories. Would definitely recommend it!

Loved it! Tour guide Brad was that dude, he was amazing and so informative. #lovebrad. Bro is a info machine as well as so polite, would totally come back if Brad would be my guide.

This was my first visit, and I am already planning my next trip to come back. The staff were all super helpful and friendly, even offering suggestions about where to eat since we were visiting from another state. Copperhead was our guide for the night, and he did an awesome job of explaining the history of the building and property. I also loved hearing about his own personal experiences while working there. I would recommend this tour to anyone, and I am counting down the days until my next visit!

Did both the Haunted House offered for Halloween as well as flashlight tour, Haunted House was nicely done and scary and the flashlight tour was very informative and even kinda spooky itself.

The Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is a very interesting place. If you like horror and creepy things you would like it there. The building is a very cold inside so wear a jacket if your going in the winter months.

This experience is not for everyone. The tour of four floors involves a lot of walking, standing and climbing many old stairways. Though the history of this building is interesting, it is not a happy, feel-good place. We did not do the paranormal or haunted house tours which many people liked and recommended. The young people hosting the tours were knowledgeable and friendly.

So interesting to learn the history of this facility. Good for teen groups, families or individuals. Stairs are involved

We did the 90 minute history tour and it was outstanding. Our guide Nick was phenomenal. Full of information, fun facts, solid jokes, and was clearly invested in what he was doing. The place is beautiful and overall one of the best tours I’ve ever taken.

We took a group of students with our summer school program, and everyone enjoyed the experience. Our guide, Jessica, was wonderful with our students. She provided a wealth of information, and we really enjoyed her humor too. We highly recommend this site and our guide!

Alisha was a great guide did Amazon job . This was our second trip this year will be back would be nice if this place could be rehab and put back to the original condition as was back in the day keep up the great work

I did the 90 minute tour led by John and had a great time. John was a great guide, the tour was very informative and both the building and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend a visit to this wonderful site.

The asylum was a very educational and fun place to visit. I would recommend going here if you like to learn about history. Colin our tour guide was very educated and nice. There were many artifacts there.

We did the criminally insane tour with Josh. He was very knowledgeable fun and had a great energy. He was fantastic.

This was our second trip to TALA and I can’t wait until our next trip , we had numerous experiences including catching a translucent figure in our still photography.

Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and friendly, the whole place was beautiful and rich with history. And if you love old, spooky tours this is the place to go!

Jessica was being very mean and she was not really that good of a guide. My favorite was Connie by 5 miles.

I had such a great time here. I decided to go down one Sunday from Ohio which was about a 4 hour drive down for me and 4 hours back, but it was very much worth it. The tour guides and staff were very knowledgeable and personable. I took 3 tours and all of them were great. They are also pet friendly which makes it a great experience. The history and architecture is amazing and they do such a good job presenting it through tours as well as museum displays. It would be amazing to see more restoration done to the building and surrounding property. I hope to go back sometime soon!

We took the VIP tour and it was fantastic! Amy was our tour guide and her knowledge of the Asylum was amazing! She did a great job mixing the history and ghost stories together.
The VIP tour does almost every inch of the main Asylum building and allows access the many rooms of exhibits.
My kids are 12 and 15 and loved the tour. I also found out that it is a dog friendly place as well.
I 100% recommend this tour.

What a great time! We did the overnight tour and what would have been a great tour was maybe unbelievably fantastic by our tour guide Alyssa! She was friendly, knowledgeable, patient with questions and made the whole experience that much better. We left a little sleepy but it's something we will be talking about for a long, long time!

I liked the trip because all the different rooms and they all had stuff in them from a long time ago. I also liked when we walked with the tour guide and he explained what happened there then we got to go inside the rooms and outside they also told us what the rooms were used for. In one of the rooms they had like an old tv which told us what some of the tools were used for on the people that were there.

Excellent tours. I went on the 4 floor tour and the Criminally Insane tour. Our tour guide Amanda did an excellent job explaining the history and everything about the asylum. Museums were very informative as well.

Loved it. I enjoyed hearing all the history behind the building and operation of it. The Architecture is beautiful, so glad they saved this historic building! We went on the 3 floor tour and is very worth it. The tour guide was top notch, friendly and extremely knowledgeable for the history of the hospital and building of the building.

A fun way to spend an afternoon. When you show up you get your choice of tours. We opted for the paranormal tour as you get to see more of the facility. The place is not totally restored which it shouldn't be given it's a ghost tour. The tour is definitely appropriate for kids although some younger ones might get a bit bord.
Our tour guide (Haley (sp)) made the tour fun and entertaining. All of the staff were great and really, really nice. Lots of photo opportunities and cool stuff to see.

The owners are doing a great job fixing up and maintaining the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. The staff was very knowledgeable with the history of the site. Our Nurse (Tour Guide), Naomi, did an excellent job showing us around the grounds and providing my group with history and patients stories covering from the Civil War to when the asylum closed its doors in the 1990s. Good choice of paid tour to choose from depending on how much time you have to visit this place. I enjoyed going through the first floor museum, learning the history of the asylum, while waiting for my tour to start. I can't wait to visit again when they have the haunted house and paranormal tours up and running in October again.

Our expert guide Miranda, gave a very detailed and unhurried tour of the entire facility. I recommend Miranda any day! All of the staff were dressed in 40's style nurse outfits...ready to spirit you off for a lobotomy. Warning....Lobotomy and Electro shock therapy probably NOT covered by your medical plan....

My group of ten were impressed by the location and staff. The location is well kept and the staff have kept it in great condition. The staff is very knowledgeable in the history of the location. And as a paranormal investigation destination it has a deep history.

I really loved this trip! It was a lot of fun and there were a lot of interesting things. The tour guides were very good at explaining the backgrounds of everything in that building. Our tour guides were Colin, Jessica and Connie. We only went on the first floor and I’m really glad I went.

We did the VIP tour with Greg through the main building and enjoyed it thoroughly! He was very informative, answered questions, and was so patient. It was our first time at TALA and we highly recommend the VIP tour since the guides can talk about all aspects of the facility including paranormal. We can’t wait to come back and do a ghost tour!!

While on my motorcycle/camping trip with some work colleagues I made my way to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. I loved hearing of its history and taking in all the erie sites! The main reason for my visit was to make my daughters jealous, haha. They're really into spooky haunted type places.

We had such a great time! Our guide Alyssa, answered all of our questions and was very knowledgeable. I’d love to come back again.

It was so very cool and I got so much experience it was not bad but it is the most amazing thing ever

This tour was very interesting and definitely worth the visit. Our tour guide, Jessica, definitely had a lot of knowledge about the history there and could answer any questions the group asked her. She was an excellent tour guide. We will definitely be back from other tours in the future.

What an unexpected find this was. Our tour guide Brad was phenomenal, dispensing so many interesting and sometimes amusing facts about the Asylum. We definitely want to come back and do the other tours that they offer and the Halloween Ball sounds a blast.

Excellent tour of the four floors. Nick the tour guide was very informative. If you want to know the history of the asylum this is the tour to take.

If you want to be in a library setting then do the over night. All night we could hear other groups and never complained after all it is an empty building and sound echos. If people get scared because you tap on wall to get response from a ghost then they should not be here. We actually was a group of 7 bigger then the other groups and of course we are going to be louder there are more of us. With this being said out of weekends packed with Halloween events this was the worst one. If you are looking to see ghost watch a movie otherwise go to a haunted house that wants people to have a good fun experience. Oh and to the manager that was so rude as you said please and thank you go a long way. Sorry if we got excited at what we had seen. Also thank our tour guide for not being the one to cause a bad night she could even hear the screaming and noises from floor above us and we just let it go. Seriously such a disappointment and this was a thing I have wanted to do for years!

Great trip, the tour was great, thanks to our tour guide Connie. Very interesting would go again for sure.

We did the 4 floor tour. Our guide was full of information on the Asylum. Some of the rooms have been redone and some have not. Was great to get a glimpse of what life was like in the asylum. The museum was very interesting as well.

tour was just OKAY. This place has tons of potential if they could get some mature adults to be in charge and do the tours.
Having young college students do asylum tours, just doesn’t deliver.
The building and history are Fascinating to say the least… be most of the information you can get online.
The “asylum ball” is a joke!
This was nothing more than a teenage college drinking party. People puking in trash cans with no apparent adults in charge.

My spouse and I went for my birthday. We have a ghost hunt booked for tonight. But we also took the 90 min VIP tour with Amy. Omg, she was amazing as a tour guide. I would pay to have her as the guide for the overnight. Oh wait I am already paying for the overnight lol. I would definitely come back for another tour.

Lots of stairs. facility is pre-civil war and operated until the 90’. Lots of good information on their practices and how they handled things. They have ghost tours available, but, we did not take that.

Jessica gave us the 4 floor tour of the asylum. She was extremely knowledgeable and showed that she truly cared about the history and property.

My sister and I visited TALA for my birthday. We did the 4 floor historic tour with Savannah and the Criminally Insane Tour with Rosie. Both guides were a delight and well informed. Loved how our guides were dressed as nurses!
Visiting TALA was definitely worth coming to Weston, West Virginia!

Savannah was an amazing tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and did her best to answer all questions. She was thorough in her story telling and brought you back in time. It was truly fascinating. We did the “Four floor” tour and it was worth every penny.

I’ve been to TALA several times and every time I leave ready to go again. From informative historical tours to heart racing paranormal tours, and a haunted house for the adventurous folks there’s truly something for everyone. Each time I visit the museum rooms have been updated, the tours enhanced, and the staff are always friendly. I cannot recommend a visit enough.

We went on two tours today with Colin who was very knowledgeable about the history of the building and the experiences of the patients. We spent well over two hours doing tours today and it was very interesting.

It was a very cool building and a lot of history but there were a lot of areas you could not go, tour felt rushed, missed out on a lot of rooms, and the paranormal tour was sort of silly. They would hear a creek in the floor and say it was one of the ghosts or tell us nonsense stories that they hear ghosts and all of that - just nonsense. Plus, they started renovating it and it just takes away from the history. Nobody wants to see modern paint on the walls. We want original.

Amazing place - our guide Nick was very knowledgeable about both the history of the asylum & psychiatry in general. We did the 90-minute history tour - would highly recommend.

We visited the asylum last weekend with Wolf bus tours out of Pennsylvania. It was absolutely amazing and our tour guide Connie was excellent. She was very knowledgeable of the history of the building and she was so funny. Would definitely visit again.

Took my daughter in law for her birthday. She has been wanting to go.We had a great time. Learned a lot about the place. I would encourage everyone to go visit.

this was on my bucket list. I watched all the paranormal shows....still overwhelmed by this location.
amazing. we did the daytime paranormal tour AND the Criminally Insane tour. both guides were top notch. period nurse uniforms. history. experiments. stories. the lobotomy area was sobering.

Went on the All 4 floors tour. This is a definite must-do for anyone in this area. We were privileged to have tour guide Jeremiah during his first tour and we were so astounded by how informative and knowledgeable he was! You can just tell the owner is trying to lovingly preserve the historical and monumental impact this site held in history. Well done. Me and my husband enjoyed ourselves immensely!

We went today and did the four floor tour and John was our guide! We loved hearing the history and he always put in a little tid bit to make you laugh! We all had a good time as we laughed and looked at all the history! Great tour excellent guide!

Building is impressive and they are actively working to preserve this historic landmark. Paranormal day tour was excellent with knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend.

Had a great time and a wonderful tour guide Collin. Very informative and learned some new things today. Can't wait to come back to do another one!

Arrived an hour after opening time. There are guides at the front steps to give you directions for which tour you are planning to take.. Then step inside and 1st register at a kiosk, then go to the cashier and pay for your tour. While you wait for your tour to begin you can walk around on the first floor to see all the history and displays..
The tour itself was very informative and interesting.

It was a really fun trip with my class mates. The tour guides were great. And fun way to spend 1-2 hours. The staff where nice too.

This trip was very enjoyable. I liked all the different rooms and the tour guide John. Outside the building was very unique and the water fountain was beautiful. I also liked the photo gallery too it showed a lot about the history of the asylum.

Awesome place. Lots of History. John was our tour guide and he did a great job explaining alot of the history. He made it lots of fun. I would recommend this for everyone to see.

Shay was an awesome tour guide! This is our 4th time doing overnight ghost tours and the experience was fantastic. Thanks so much! Can’t wait to be back!

Great place to visit. they have several different tours to choose from. We will be back to do another one soon.

Amazing tours-Did both the Discover the asylum & overnight ghost hunt. Recommend both of them!! Greg, Amy, and Copperhead were wonderful tour guides. I had been wanting to go there for so long and it did not disappoint!

Love our visit to the asylum. The guide was very knowledgeable, well-spoken and friendly. Totally fascinating part of history...sad and very thought provoking. A great look at where we came from and how science and ethics evolved. Our only problem was not having enough time to do ALL the tours!

We had an excellent tour by Jessica. She was an absolute wealth of knowledge! The history is incredible. Definitely glad we made the trip!

Absolutely a great tour. So much to see and do. I like the history and the Architecture... The story will keep you entertained.
Greg the tour guide was great!

Copperhead was a thrill to have as our guide. Told us a lot about what happened within the walls, shared his own personal experiences, easy to talk to and let us use his equipment when exploring the rooms. The next time we reserve another paranormal tour, I hope we get Copperhead again. Great guy!

Oh my word! This place is SPOOKY! Just pulling up to the building, gave me goosebumps. We went on the criminally insane tour, that was creepy. We wanted to go on all the tours , but ran out of time. This is definitely an all day trip, maybe even 2 days. I can’t wait to go back.

Amazing building, terrifying past. We did the 4 floor tour. Our guide Kaylee (apologies if i spelled it wrong) was super, she was genuinely excited about things and presented the stories in a way that was not gruesome and off putting for the more sensitive.
A sad part of our history.

The 4-flour tour with Colin was amazing. He is a great guide, knowledgeable, friendly, and with good humour. Loved the visit!!

I took tour of all four floors and it gets better every time I visit. Good value for money. I took the historic tour. I was disappointed public can’t visit cemeteries though. I wish they still had the van tours. I’d spend the extra money!

We enjoyed our daytime paranormal tour with Kaylee(?). I'm sorry if I got her name wrong. We didn't witness any spookiness, but it was an interesting tour. While our tour didn't focus on the history of the TALA per se, our guide was very knowledgeable and answered any questions that we had. This place is huge, so be prepared to walk a good bit and go up and down stairs. The exhibits in the museum part (which your tour ticket entitles you to visit) were very interesting, though the history of mental health treatments is pretty horrific. The explanations of various mental health disorders in a modern day context were very informative. Just overall a fascinating place! There's also a small gift shop with friendly and helpful staff there too. The "nurses" in traditional white dresses and caps added an extra little creepy factor.

At Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum there is lots to do! There’s a museum, gift shop, and tour through the whole place. There are many different tour options. You can go in the night or day, and explore different sections of the asylum.

The lunatic asylum is a few hours from Pittsburgh in a small West Virginia town. Tours begin on the hour. Unfortunately, we arrived about 10 minutes after the hour, so we had to wait 50 minutes which was more than enough time to use the restrooms, visit the free museum area, and see the gift shop before our guide toured us through the asylum. Our guide was outstanding and somehow informed our group about the history of the property with plenty of humor throughout. My young adult son selected this attraction during our vacation and we both enjoyed ourselves.

We had a lot of fun. Our tour guide, Jessica, did such a good job as well. Highly recommend going for people who like history.

We went on Halloween night, predominantly. for the haunted house. the haunted house attraction was phenomenal. The actors were really into the roles, the settings and effects were excellent, and they even got a couple jumps scares out of this couple that loves all things creepy, scary, and horror related.
After the haunted house, we did a couple of the flashlight tours that made the history nerd bit of me happy without getting too in the weeds. The guides were good, and the guy we had for the Discarded Souls tour was outstanding as he'd been around the place since he was just a kid. The personal touches were a real plus.
Having done some of the simple tours and haunted house attraction, we need to go back for some serious ghost tours.

We had a wonderful time. Very spooky place in the dark. Lots of paranormal activity. The staff are wonderful

My husband and I decided to do a Halloween themed road trip to WV. Our favorite stop was the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. We visited late in the season, so we were the only ones in our tour group. Let me tell you, Connie was AMAZING. She shared so many stories of what it was like when it was operational. It's rare that we have a tour guide who has personal ties to where we visit. I don'twant divulge too much information incase you visit and are lucky enough to have her, she will tell you herself.
I cannot thank her enough for making our expierence so soevial and one-of-a-kind. She definitely raised the bar of what to expect the next time we go.

Overall this was one of the best tours I have ever received. My family and I go on trips all the time and we had the best time and learned some great facts on our tour. I forget our tour guides name but I can picture him perfectly he had a beard, wore a hat, had glasses and was funny and very knowledgeable. I think the tour guide was one of the main reasons the tour was as good as it was. You better keep him as long as you can because he is awesome!

What an interesting place! Four floors, some sections restored and others haven’t been which adds to the somewhat creepy vibe. Various tours are offered; we chose the four floor tour. It was supposed to be 90 minutes but ended up over 2 hours. Not complaining because our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Her mother worked there back in the day so her stories had a lot of detail. Not a good idea for anyone who has trouble walking or climbing stairs.

Built starting in 1858 and abandoned in 1994, this 1/4 mile long building is loaded with fascinating medical / mental health care history. Take the VIP tour, its worth every penny.

Best tour ever!! Collin did an excellent job and gave more information than I could have asked for!! I will be going back for his flashlight nighttime tour!!

The experience was great. Originally we had been put with the pursue group but, had reserved the inside tour. TALA staff worked with us to be inside. It's definitely an creepy tour. I didn't personally see anything but, my nephew seen 2 shadow figures. Very cool experience and highly recommend!!

Connie was an AMAZING tour guide. Her knowledge of the asylum was excellent and her added personal stories to the tour made it the perfect time. Five Stars!

My family and I did the First Floor North tour on 10/4. As a former guide, I frequently come back to the asylum to tour and just see the building. This place will always hold a special place in my heart. Our tour guide, Jeremiah was great! Very knowledgeable and upbeat. We also got to meet Jack, the asylum kitty. As always TALA, phenomenal experience and I will always recommend this place to everyone.

Really fascinating place. We had an excellent tour guide (John). The building is beautiful and in various states of repair, which adds to its authenticity. If those walls could talk....
John had a plethora of stories and information. He was informative, funny, serious, and kept the group very entertained while educating us about the history of the hospital and the area. We went over our time a bit, but I could have stayed for another hour. It was excellent.

The hospital is nicely preserved, with many areas being untouched since it was last in operation. There is minimal damage to the interiors. There are lots of tour choices of various lengths, including ghost tours or more historic and informational tours. I would highly recommend.

The tour guides were really informative. I listened carefully to what the tour guides were telling us. One thing I found interesting is the masks that was made. The masks were in a museum wing. The masks were made by there face and they figured out the patterns. Some of the rooms smelled more bad than others. My experience was interesting.

It was a fun school Tripp, I wanna go back with my friend and explore it all for our school project.

Attended a Friday morning 4-floor tour for my Abnormal Psychology class, and it was great to spend a day off here. Our guide Brendan (it was his 4th day!!) made it fun, interesting, and casual. I appreciated being shown almost everything, including the morgue. An excellent choice for those interested in psychology, medicine, hospitality, history, and architecture! You will need a coat, if not more. Enjoy, take care!!

Loved this stop! John was awesome and very informative. He had good anecdotal stories along with historical facts about the TALA, city of Weston and mental illness. We took the 4 floor tour and had fun. John grew up in the area and was familiar with what the facility was like while it was still a state run institution. It’s still being restored - slowly - without federal or state funding. The museum is set up with about 17 different parts, most of which can be self guided. The restored areas are well done and restored to what TALA would have been in its peak - ca. 1917. Having said that John was so good and I don’t think we’d have had such a good time without his insight and storytelling.

Abaolutely fantastic tour with John our guide. Very informative and interesting.
Such an important part of mental health care hx as well as womens rights. I recommend it to anyone headed to WV. Well worth the visit.

We went on the 90-minute history tour. Even though it was the mid-90s and high humidity, our tour guide was so well-informed and pleasant (thanks Jim), that helped keep my mind off the heat. The history of this place is very fascinating. We have to come back and try some of the other tours.

Amazing experience. Loved the tours. Went twice in two days. Lots to see. Tour guide John was amazing and knew his stuff.

Such an interesting stop. The building itself will draw you in with its sheer size and architecture. We took the 90 minute history tour with Miranda and we were not disappointed. She took us all over the main building and the the hospital building. A lot of history in those walls and a lot of stories to be told.
Overall a very unique experience and worth the trip to West Virginia. I’d love to make the trip back to do a night tour sometime for the paranormal tour someday.

We absolutely loved visiting Trans Allegheny! Brad was our history tour guide he was very knowledgeable and friendly. He took the time to answer any questions our group had. Alyssa was our guide for the paranormal tour and she was also just as fantastic. She made sure to explain each area and even made attempts to interact with the spirits. We will definitely be visiting again!

Went on the 4 floor, daytime paranormal and criminally insane tour over a two day period. The guides were exceptional and very knowledgeable. Whether you are into the paranormal or history, these tours are a must. The amount of care taken by staff and contributors to bring this facility back to life is amazing.

Every year me and the love of my life go to haunts all over for our anniversary. We have seen some fantastic
Haunts. This haunt is one of the best if not the best when it comes to creativity. This haunt is a living piece of art. Pay attention as you go through and you will catch things that will blow your mind. Like being made to feel small!!!! Thank you for the experience!!!!!

Highly recommend stopping here! The history and architecture are simply fascinating! There is a para normal attraction for many who visit and the owners do a good job promoting that. I went for the history and the architecture and I was thrilled to see the restoration and the thoughtfulness the owners have given to this property. The restored areas are lovely and well appointed with period furniture. The areas that haven’t been updated are eerily fascinating too. There is a small museum area in the main entrance…but, when one looks further- they have a whole other wing devoted to the history of the property! The civil war, mental health, the cemeteries, the farm, art done by the residents, and so much more! There is a small gift shop and a wood shop with lovely hand made replicas of small period furniture pieces! Several tours are available on a daily basis and they offer many seasonal tours- especially in October. I took the four floor tour and the criminally insane tour. I was fortunate to have Connie as a guide. She is local to the area and had a wealth of stories to share in addition to the captivating history of the property. All the staff was super friendly- I spoke at length with three other people and they all shared something interesting about TALA. And they all like working here- that says so much! Kudos to the owners for lovingly preserving this property. I have wanted to visit here for a year, followed them on Facebook, and finally made the 4.5 hour trip and it was more than worth it. The prices are reasonable and you are free to take photos. A plus!!

We did the 1 North with Connie and she was fantastic! The tour was interesting and she gave a lot of information. After the guided tour we were able to go through the museum areas at our own pace.

This place is very interesting. It showed some of the ways that patients were treated. Hard to believe the ways they treated them. The building was awesome to see. Enjoyed the tour.

Jessica was great and very well informed. I could tell she knew her stuff. I would absolutely do it again!!! Appropriate for most ages

Really enjoyed and appreciated this glimpse into history. Would like to return and take some of the other tours.

This was a great stop that was very well worth the time. Very informative tour about interesting history. The guides were great and friendly. It was all for a reasonable price as well.

My favorite part of the trip was when we got to walk around and go through all the rooms used by people in the asylum.

The history provided was very enlightening on West Virginias history, i enjoyed it very well and would visit again.

Our tour guide Josh did an excellent job of explaining how the asylum was used from it’s beginning to it’s closure. He also helped clear up stories that circulated on social media.

favorite part of the experience was the little girl Lilly’s room. bring a hoodie it gets chilly inside.

Connie was amazing tour guide! Would definitely recommend! A great place for an adventure! We definitely will do this again!

Really enjoyed the historical tour. Our tour guide Brandan’s knowledge of the facility and stories specific to the rooms allowed us to learn so much about the lives of the patients. Definitely recommend!

We did the history tour of the grand but sad place. The tour and tour guide was excellent - they wear old fashioned nurses uniforms which add to the experience. I did the 4 rating only because it was incredibly hot inside - I mean really really hot. In all fairness it is July but I believe they could add some large floor fans to at least make it more tolerable for guests and staff. They do recommend water which is great but fans would make a world of difference.

Fascinating place! I did the historic tour for all 4 floors. My guide was great and made for a great tour.

The Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is my favorite place to visit. So many interesting things to see. The tour guides were very nice.

Being in healthcare, touring an asylum was alluring. Touring an asylum that was commissioned during the Civil War and closed in 1995 was intriguing. Jeremiah led our 90 minute tour through the 4 stories of the asylum and he was a plethora of information about the asylum and mental health history in general. This asylum was “cutting edge” in its day but time, physical deterioration, advancements in medical knowledge, and destigmatization of mental illness have altered how we see this grand institution. Fascinating!

It was Interesting to learn about what they did to their patients back then and what the used to build their buildings out of.

A great Fallout 76 location know as Fort Defiance. It is amazing how well the Fallout developers build in game locations to match real life locations. This place is impressive to see first hand. They do lots of spooky stuff as well as preserve the history. It is amazing how far we have come as a society to see this massive campus for "lunatics." This is a grim reminder to how we as a society used to treat the mentally handicapped as well as those with PTSD

The Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is such an iconic place to visit! The outside stone is all hand carved. There is a lot of history to this place. The asylum is massive. The tours here are very informative and the tour guides do an amazing job at describing all the historical events that took place here. They also offer paranormal tours as well as photography tours. This is a must stop even if you're out of state.

We had gone to the Moundsville Penitentiary last year and were fascinated by the history and paranormal aspects so we thought we'd try the asylum this year. We really enjoyed the museum- my mom was with me & my husband and she loves history . The tour itself was interesting and our tour guide ( Bree) was knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. Unfortunately there was no paranormal activity to report . I feel that if we had more time in each area we may have been more likely to experience something but we only had a few minutes for photos and to look around in each section. The flashlight tour was two hours but should probably be at least 3 for all the areas covered and to allow time for exploring . I think next year we're going to try a longer tour - the upper floors were extremely warm - I thought my mom might pass out, so definitely dress in layers and take water ( outside temp was in the 60's) . The steps were an issue for my mom too - she's 78 - there's several flights to the top floors - she said it was too much for her. Other than being really hot on the upper floors, I didn't find the tour too strenuous but for the elderly or anyone really out of shape , you may want to try a different tour. All in all , we enjoyed ourselves and I do plan on returning because I think there is paranormal activity here . A plus was that the gift shop was open although most of the sizes for t shirts were out of stock - but the t shirts are only $20 .. not bad at all . I do recommend a visit even if you don't experience anything other worldly- it's still a fascinating experience.

It was First time touring Tala, We chose the Criminally insane tour and the Daytime Paranormal tour. Loved the Daytime paranormal tour , our guide was awesome her parents worked there so she knew a lot and was very personable.

This was a very interesting place to tour. We actually took two of the tours they offer because the place is massive. Both tour guides (Jessica and Danae) were wonderful. They were very knowledgeable and made the tours entertaining and interesting. This is a great day trip from Pittsburgh (about 2 - 2.5 hour drive) especially with fall leaf colors. Highly recommend the "Criminally Insane" tour.

Most has been already said, so I will reiterate that it is a nice trip, the guide was great, all staff very friendly. It is well worth the visit, and contrary to what we read here, visitors do NOT need to bring flashlights.

I’ve visited Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum several times, but my most recent trip was truly the best!
My friends and I participated in the overnight paranormal investigation, and we had an amazing experience. Although we’ve done this before, our latest visit stood out, thanks to our guide, Tara, on Friday, October 17th.
Tara’s was knowledgable about the asylum’s history and its resident spirits. Tara has a genuine passion for what she does and it showed in the way she treated the guests and the asylum’s residents. As a guide, she was available when we needed her but struck the perfect balance—helpful and attentive without being intrusive. She also had positive perspective on the spirits we would potentially encounter which made the experience even more enjoyable
We’re already looking forward to returning in the spring and will definitely be requesting Tara as our guide again, hoping she’ll be available!
Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

A very complete tour we really enjoyed our visit it as our first time there. We had passed the building several times and was curious about what the tour would be like and we really enjoyed the tour.

My sister and I (aka the Pair-A-Normal Sisters) went on a ghost tour at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV—and it was absolutely worth the trip.
Even though it wasn’t a full investigation, just a tour, the energy in that place was strong. The building itself is massive, beautiful in a decaying, haunted kind of way, and soaked in heavy history. You can feel it. Some of those halls don’t just echo—they remember.
We had personal experiences even without doing a proper investigation. My device said “hug,” and when I said “yes” and held my arms out… I felt it. Like something invisible wrapped itself around me. And my sister saw a strange blinking red light—no source, no explanation. Just there, and then gone.
The staff was fantastic—professional, knowledgeable, and respectful of both the history and the spirits. They do offer longer, more hands-on investigations, and after that tour, we’re already planning to come back for one.
If you’re into the paranormal or just want to experience a place with real atmosphere, TALA is absolutely worth your time and money. This place stays with you.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5/5 – Pair-A-Normal Sisters approved. And next time… we’re bringing the full gear.

We had no idea what to expect, but what a great unexpected find this place was. Our tour guide Brad was amazing, very informative and above all entertaining . Next time we are in the area we will definitely be back to do their other tours (hopefully with Brad as our guide) and their Halloween Ball sounds a blast.

A lot of what I want to say has already been said, so I’ll reiterate. The guides were great and very informative, the staff was very kind and friendly, the history and background of the asylum told through the many different small scale museums across the building were very interesting and incredibly rich, and so much more. Overall, me and my class had an absolute blast of a time. This was an absolute wonderful touring experience that I would recommend to anyone!

I went on the 4 Floor tour with guide Jessica and loved it. She had answers to any questions the group brought up. And it was interesting to see both the restored and unrestored areas of the facility.
Def recommend

We did the criminal insane tour. Loved it so much did the VIP right after. Fortunately we were there on a day they did it bc it’s only 2 days a wk. VIP gives you a little bit of everything. Our tour guide was fabulous & funny.

This was our second visit. It was just as interesting the second time around. Jessica, our guide, provided additional information I didn't know about the asylum. Fascinating to say the least. This is a can't miss place to visit if you are in the Weston, WV area!!

Fantastic place. Historic, spooky, HUGE.
Good time on our tour.
If you love history and architecture you’ll want to do this.
The guide was a young woman. We did the building and grounds.
The stories are crazy interesting.
Lots of stairs and lots of rooms.
Groups are small and you’d probably want to preorder tickets to ensure you get in.
Overall I loved the experience and would do it again.
The asylum is in a beautiful spot.
A more mature tour guide - or even in themed attire would have improved the overall visit -( FOR US ).
So much potential here that I hope they continue to tour.
Will definitely return

It was a great stop on our family vacation. It was interesting and we had ages from 19-73 and everyone liked this tour. The 4th floor historic tour was great. John was our tour guide and he keep it fun. I just wish they would start tours a little earlier. It was getting hot by the time we were done.

Such an amazing experience! Me and my fiancé did the “Discover the Asylum” tour. Brad and Amy, our tour guides, we’re both very informative of what they were showing us.

We really enjoyed our '4 Floor' tour at the asylum. Our tour guide (Zander?), was friendly and knowledgeable. It was amazing to see not only the architecture of the buildings but the ways mental illness was treated in years past. Definitely worth the price of admission.

On the tour you are with different tour guides, they are about 15 minutes for three tour guides. They talk about the history.

Absolutely LOVED the tour! We did the tour for the first floor and learned so much. Our tour guide, John was so good at explaining and answering and questions we had! I will definitely be coming back to do the rest of the tours! 10/10 recommend.

Went here in September of 2022, it was a very interesting place to see. Lots of history and tours to take. Worth the money!

We got married on Halloween and decided to visit the Asylum as an anniversary trip and made the four hour drive from PA for the visit. We couldn’t decided which tour to take, because all of the options sounded worth it, and eventually settled on the “All 4 Floors + 1st Floor of the Medical Center(90 min)” option. To say this tour was well worth the time is an absolute understatement. Connie was our tour guide and completely blew our expectations out of the water with how knowledgeable she was about the history of the Asylum and the patients/staff themselves. She shared her own personal experiences and you could feel how much she respected the Asylum through her story telling. We will 100% be visiting again and are hoping to attend the Asylum Ball next year! Thank you so very much for an amazing experience!

I was so excited to visit TALA! It was hard to choose a specific tour! We had an awesome & helpful tour guide. We got to see all sorts of places within the asylum. I definitely want to return for a paranormal tour.

We took the 1/2 hour historical tour. All tour staff dressed in nurses uniforms and caps. Only the trustee wing is refurbished. The remaining wards and buildings have decayed so all tour attendees have to sign a liability waiver. Beware of mold and chipping paint for those with respiratory issues. It was very informative to give some color to how society handled mental health concerns after the civil war.

Paranormal Day Tour w/Brad. Great tour. Answered questions and very knowledgeable. Had an awesome time. Nice Tabby cat followed the tour with us. Very cool.

I did the discovery tour. Any and Greg were amazing. So knowledgeable about every floor, the rooms, the buildings. I absolutely will be back

We took the daytime paranormal tour with Cayleigh as our guide. She did a great job showing us around this amazing facility. Learned so much in 90 minutes. Left wondering how the patients could function in such conditions and treatments. This is a must see for anyone with the ability to visit.

I really enjoyed, though I didn’t get to go on the upper floors’ it was enjoyable experience. It also go me out of school for a day so that’s always a plus.

My favorite part of the trip was seeing the rooms and my favorite tour guide was Colin he was really informative about the asylum he was also nice. I also liked the scapulars in the museum it was so fun I wish we could go back .I also like the lobotomy room and the electric shock therapy rooms to.

Great dog-friendly tour -- the building is both interesting and creepy! My better half and I look forward to returning with friends.

I took the 4 Floors tour and it was fantastic - full of history and local stories from our guide, John, who grew up in Weston. Highly recommend this interesting, macabre, and very photogenic place.
Conveniently located right off I-79 if you are passing through WV by car.

It was interesting and super fun and the guides were great at explaining stuff. The place is creepy.

They place looked like it was old and creepy in some parts. They museum gave a look into some of the things that happened at the asylum.

I liked the tour it was interesting. Colin, Jessica, and Connie gave us our tour. I liked seeing the parts that were not redone because it was better on liking viewing it in your head.

An amazing morning. My daughter and I stopped by for one of the standard historical tours due to time restraints etc. Our tour guide Rose was amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. We are looking forward to returning in order to experience some of the other tour offerings.

My family went on the VIP 90 minute tour...which includes a segment of information from all tours combined...our guide Brad did a fantastic job explaining things and answering questions..he left the tour to the group to decide where what wards we wanted to visit...such a cool place and the history there is amazing...very impressive building and you can feel some strange things there. Highly recommend it.

It was the best trip I’ve had. They had so many amazing and cool things to see. And the tour was very informative, I’m glad I went because it was an amazing time.

Our tour guide John did an amazing job. The heat was oppressive but he kept it interesting and moving so we barely noticed. The history of the asylum is fascinating, sad and horrific. We are fortunate these people are taking their time to preserve our history. Thank you for all of your hard work!

At the end of the museum there is a room that says restricted access I look threw it and saw something crawl acrossed the

I toured here back in June and spent over $1,000.00 here on my tour and in the gift shop. The tour was great. However, I placed an order online for two books on 6/18/25 and never received them. I have reached out numerous times inquiring about my books. I received an email on 7/15/25 stating that they had been busy and out of the office but my books had been mailed to me on 7/11/25. I sent another email on 7/19/25 because I still hadn't received my books and never received a response. I've called multiple times as well due not receiving my books. Today 7/25/25, I spoke with someone and was told my books were never mailed out. Not one time did she offer to make things right or apologize. She never offered me my money back but agreed to refund me after going back and forth about a refund. She wouldn't allow me to speak to her supervisor or anyone who can look into this and make things right. This place thrives off of the tourists who spend money here and this is how the employees are able to be employed. Treating a customer poorly isn't good business nor is it going to help the employees maintain employment.

The four floor tour is so worthwhile! You travel through several wards, visit the medical center and get to see each floor of the main building. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and so patient with all of the questions, even with having a very large group in attendance.

We did the Fourth Floor tour, which was a daytime history tour. Connie was our tour guide and she was absolutely wonderful!!!! She made it informative and fun at the same time

The artifacts was interesting but the tour was very fast we didn’t get to see everything the gift shop was cool.

We took took the VIP tour of the asylum. It was a great view of the history of the asylum. Our guide also told good stories about what happened at the asylum from research that has been done through records. He also told us about some paranormal experiences. The 90 minute tour was a place where you could ask questions, so it was much longer than 90 minutes. It was great that our tour guide had so much knowledge and that he did not rush you through.
We also took the tour for the criminally insane. This was a tour of the prison that was opened for a short time there. The tour guide had some real life examples of criminals that were housed there.

Visited in summer 2023. We arrived at 10 AM and went on the 90 minute tour of 4 floors. After lunch we went on the criminally insane tour and spent an hour in the museum exhibit. The tours and exhibit are an accurate portrayal of the living conditions of those who suffered of from mental illness in the years prior to antipsychotic medication. Look at the visit from an educational standpoint. I recommend an hour in the museum and expect to spend about 3 hours touring.

Going into it, I was skeptical. I consider myself a cynic, but I do believe in ghosts. I’m actually petrified of them. I knew nothing about ghost hunting, but saw it as a new experience. With brief googling, I purchased a cheap EVP detector, voice recorder, and camcorder. We only used the voice recorder and my iPhone for pictures and videos.
The asylum is gigantic, way bigger than I initially imagined. We got there early and I talked to a guide. He told me they break us into four small groups. The groups have two hours on each floor and rotate. We had a small group of 9. The others in our group, who had been there before, had brought certain devices to communicate with the ghosts. As amateurs, we had nothing and no idea what we were doing.
The tour guide takes you around each floor at the beginning of the rotation, tells you stories, and then you are on your own. Each floor has about 4 wings, so we were able to find a wing without anyone else in it. Our tour guide showed us a way ghosts communicate through flash lights. Essentially, you use the twist head flashlights, turn them to a point where they only need one little twist to turn on but are off, and leave them in different places. Although off, you can ask the ghost to talk to you by turning the flashlights on. When he was talking, the ghosts would actually communicate back by turning the flashlights on or off. I was astounded that this actually worked, and I know it was not faked at all. He also taught us about using dousing rods to talk with the ghosts. In one area where two ghosts frequent, he handed them to me. The rods started turning inward as if they were giving me a hug, when he asked if they were giving me a hug, they squeezed against my arms tighter, when I told them that I didn’t want a hug, they squeezed tighter. Eventually he told them to stop and they went back straight. He also asked them to show me where they were and one rod was rotating in one direction, the other rod in the opposite direction, indicating that they were circling around us. This was clear verification to me that he was communicating with them. I was personally holding the rods, was sitting so that they were not moving unless manipulated by a spirit, and I was not making them move in any certain way.
There is no doubt in my mind this place is haunted, though I did not fear that the ghosts would harm me and I didn’t feel any stay with us when we finally left at 5am. Although we have not gone through everything yet, we did play some of our voice recordings. When we got home and listened to the recording, when she was asking if the girl wanted her mommy and a very distinctive little girl’s voice said, “stay here, stay here.” There may be more evidence on our recordings, but we have not had the time to go through 8 hours of voice recording still.

A guide John was wonderful he really new the history and did a great tour thanks John did the criminal insane tour very interesting will be back to do another tour probley the paranormal toure thanks again

Not at all what we expected.
The asylum ball was A college party with puking young adults everywhere.
Music was hard rap that was WAY to loud, no one could understand s the words.
Pot smoking in the side yard was so heavy you couldn’t see.

Such an important part of history and especially women's history. The building is massive. The tour guide, Jessica, was amazing! She was so knowledgeable and full of good facts. She made the tour fly by.

A trip back in history! I opted for the VIP tour and it was totally worth the $40. The tour guy Greg was so knowledgeable. I loved the contrast between the un restored and the restored areas

Besides the beautiful countryside in October, our trip to Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum was amazing. Before we went my husband kept asking why I wanted to go to visit an Asylum. But on our tour, which he thoroughly enjoyed, he was overwhelmed with how rewarding the experience was. Our tour guide was great and knowledgeable. We took the longer tour which included all 3 floors. The time went by so swiftly. We learned so much about how people with mental illness used to be treated and how this ground-breaking asylum was different. Would highly recommend; you won't be disappointed. We want to return and do the paranormal tour in the future as well.
We stayed in nearby Fairmont. Found good dining choices as well as a wonderful small winery with great wine and a great hostess.

This is a very old mental institution. They have a number of guided tours, but you do need to book in advance. The guides are dressed up as nurses or doctors. We did the Criminally Insane tour. It was just us two, so I guess it isn't the more popular tour. Our nurse guide was very knowledgeable and she did give a good history of the part of the building where the criminally insane were housed, which was a seperate building from the main one. She told us about some of its inhabitants. Afterwards, there is a small section in the main building that you can tour on your without paying an additional fee. The grounds outside in front of the main building are actually quite nice. It would be interesting to take a different tour if we pass through here again and I can imagine that there are special Halloween events. This was a very good tour!

We took the 90 minute 4 floor tour. Our guide was John and he did a great job. They give tours on the hour. You'll show up, sign a waiver, then purchase your tickets. With your ticket you'll have access to the museum. We weren't interested in the paranormal, so this tour was perfect. It touched on history, statistics, and stories of the patients. Few things to note. The only restrooms are at the beginning of the tour. There's a lot of walking and stairs. Nothing strenuous, but non-abled bodies might find it a challenge. I highly recommend. 90 minutes flew by!

Our tour guide Shay was absolutely wonderful. It was her first tour, but you wouldn't have guessed it. She was knowledgeable and an absolute delight. We will be returning and we hope that she is our tour guide again. We talked after the tour and you could tell that she just loved the place.
-the woman in the Gorillaz shirt and husband:)

It was very fun and interesting to learn about. Connie did a very good job touring and telling us about the history of the asylum.

Rate 4of5. No a/c or heat. Visit when the temperature is 60 to 70 degrees. Take one of 4 tours. 45 min to 1hr 45min. Short tour is 1st floor only. Long tour 4 floors. Stairs only. Bring water

it was so much fun i had a great time this was my first time going and i would love to go again!!!!!

Hi Travelers, Have you ever wanted to explore a Luntic Asylum, Trans-Aleghany Lunatic asylum is the place to go, we and our little dog visited TALA in Weston Wv, it was our first time taking a tour in the beautiful Gothic Type Asylum, while we were on vacation in September 2022, the dark history of this place is horrible, the way they treated the poor sickly souls, also some these individuals wasn't even sick, the were cast aways, ones that didn't want want them, or didn't understand them, the way they treated them is sad, and wicked, no wonder the ones who died in there haunt the place, we are sensitive to energies and smells, On our 1st experience to the TALA, we spelled a few smells, and one of the was in the Museum, the museum was located a few steps from the Registration desk at the Tala, there is definitely something attached to the stuff in that museum, it was a overpowering smell that made me sick to my stomach, I ran outside to get air, before we went on VIP Gothic Tour, the tour itself was amazing, we got to go in the Lily's room, a 10yr old little girls room, that does there, they think it was from pneumonia, there also was a person that hung theirselves in that room as well, our little dog was whining in that room, dogs are sensitive to spirits and such too,

Had the absolute best time with my sisters and neice @ TALA!!! Destini was an absolute gem as our tour guide. We loved her so much that after the tour she went ghost hunting with us. I’m already planning a return trip for the back 3 buildings. AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!!!!

Brendan was awesome!!!! He made me feel like I was actually pretty cool. He told me all about the criminally insane people. He needs a raise.

I liked how we got the information about what happened, when it happened , who was in there and why they were there. The tour guides were great Colin, Jessica, Connie were the ones that did the tours. The lobotomy was really cool.

We were part of group 2 for three 8/19/2023 overnight- we had Paul as our guide and our other guide was Lakisha. They were wonderful! Paul is a seasoned tour guide and as far as we're concerned a rock star. He helped us better understand how to use some of our equipment including a spirit box. Lastly, all of us from group 2 would like to say, "In Paul, we trust".

Great place to visit very interesting. The history 90 minute tour is great and John the tour guide did a great job giving the tour .

Our tour guide Kaylee was amazing.I had been there before but my boyfriend hadn’t.We had a great time and will definitely be back.

Incredible! We only took the 1st floor tour but we’re amazed. John our tour guide was nothing short of excellent! Informative, has a powerful voice so that everyone could hear, patient ( no pun intended), respectful, and was able to reach every age with the info. Well done.
Theresa was so kind and helpful and is a great ambassador. Many thanks!

It was a great experience they had dolls in some of the room as a way of showing it and the rooms had a lot of pictures and old time outfits.

I had a fun time but I would dress warm because it was could but overall it was a good trip and I recommend going if you have never been.

What a place! I wasn't terribly excited to go, given the little history I knew about it. Once there, I became fascinated.
There are several tours to choose from and that can be confusing. However the staff was very helpful in assisting us with what tour to get.
Our tour guide, Nick, was fantastic. He had only been there a few months and for over 2 hours of information, never looked at a note.

I had a great time! Very informative, and fun. There is a lot of walking, and make sure you wear a jacket it can be very chilly.

I took the "four story" tour and found it to be very worthwhile and interesting. Our tour guide had an extensive knowledge of the history of the facility which helped bring the areas visited to life. The tour covered multiple buildings as well as parts of the grounds. I have been interested in Kirkbride-type institutions for a number of years so I was delighted to visit one of the few remaining sites. Spaces with range from restored to early days to other space not having been touched on decades. Astounding comparison.

We took the VIP tour on June 10th. Our guide was Greg and he was a delight. We got a lot of history, architecture, and even some paranormal! The VIP is a little longer and casts a little more but it is well worth it. Even in the heat.

It was pretty fun and pretty cool I already went there during Halloween it still was pretty fun and cool.

Connie was our tour guide for the four floors tour. She was great. We were provided information regarding the history of the asylum as well as the evolution of mental healthcare.

The wife and I did 2 different tours in 1 day. Our whole trip was planned around Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Amanda did amazing with the two daytime tours. Very informative. I loved that the guides and staff are all in old school nurses uniform's. Adds authenticity to the tours.
Then we had a paranormal tour at night which was AWESOME!!! Aaron was great!!! He had some really good stories, and we even had a couple interactions. Would definitely all the tours again.

The place is beautifully and lovingly looked after and restored. Our guide Alyssa was fabulous and even hung with us on our free investigating time. Had a great time!

My trip to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum was an amazing way to spend a few hours and learn about the history of different things. The tour guides were great and showed information well.

I had a lot of fun and the tour guides were fun too. The guiders told me everything that happened in the asylum. There were some cool things in the asylum like the masks.

I have been dreaming of going to this place since 2016. This year I made it happen and I loved every bit of it. My friend and I did the discovery tour, Greg and Amy were amazing! I will be making a return in the future! I would highly recommend a visit to this place.

We did the Criminally Insane tour with Connie and she was amazing! She had so many wild stories about the asylum and knew tons of facts. We would definitely go again to hear more stories from her. Connie is a great guide!

We did one of the photography days and Brandi was our tour guide. She was the best! She allowed us to wander and be creative with our photography rather than keeping us to just one building at a time. It really was an amazing experience. We got to photograph many of the buildings and the outside of the greenhouse.

My mom and I did a road trip 2 hours from Pittsburgh to come here. We absolutely loved our tour! We did the 90 minute historical tour, and if we didn't have to drive back home, we were considering doing the paranormal tour afterwards! Just means we have to go back!
Our tour guide, John was really nice and funny, and very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend coming here.

We went here while on business trip. It was a really great time. We didn’t get to see any ghost but our guild Greg was very knowledgeable. Spend the extra and do the VIP tour, it was well worth it!

What an amazing experience! My guide Savannah was super knowledgeable and I learned so much during a four-floor tour. Seeing the asylum and learning how it operated and who was in there was truly a remarkable adventure.

Greg and Amy were awesome tour guides! The place is equally beautiful and haunting. They've done a great job restoring it while preserving history. Can't wait to go again!

Colin was a great tour guide! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended stop. Loved seeing the old buildings and learning the history within them.

The tour is always interesting to take my students after we learn about the evolution of mental health treatment.

My husband and I drove from South Jersey just to be on one of the very few photography tours. We were on a tight schedule and had to leave by 11 am. The building was very beautiful and our tour guide Cayleigh and her mom were friendly and knowledgeable. The problem occurred as we were leaving and wanted to buy souvenirs from the gift store. There was a woman at the front desk that was not there earlier and she was so rude to us. She kept telling us over and over, very rudely and with a nasty attitude that the gift shop would not open until 11:30. I would not visit again, I would not spend my money there and I will not recommend visiting.

I did the 1230pm VIP GOTHIC TOIR with Mr. Greg. This man has a AMAZING knowledge about the Asylum!! He was not only knowledgeable, but extremely kind and funny. I was able to clear a bucket list item off yesterday 4/12/23 with my tour of TALA! I will be back with lots of friends in tow to visit TALA and Mr. Greg. Looking forward to Halloween and the haunted house!!!

Great informative tour of the asylum and all the various buildings. My tour guide was Connie. She did an excellent job and had a lot of knowledge of the buildings and history within the buildings.

My husband and I toured this just a few days ago. Connie was our tour guide. She was absolutely amazing. I dot. Think she could have left anything g out. She was so informative and fun to tour with. This tour is an absolute must. We did the 90 min tour and wish we would have done another.

We planned to do this tour as a stop on our way to Buffalo, NY to stay at the Richardson Hotel, but I should have planned more days at TALA! First, the scenery in Weston, the Asylum, and West Virginia in general was absolutely breathtaking. Second, the overall presentation in the museum portion of the Asylum is done very well and is so balanced between the dark history and the place the asylum held within the larger community and historical context. I was so impressed with the attention to detail and the well rounded format that didn't try to hide or overemphasize the creepy parts. Having toured a few places like this, I truly think TALA has the most wonderful presentation and offerings of any other similar facility. Lastly, our tour guide, John, was fabulous. He knows the history inside and out and it was apparent that he had to edit down the long list of interesting facts so we wouldn't be there all day. He was approachable, easy to hear and understand, and obviously enjoys this work. We will be planning a longer stay soon and plan to take all the tours.

I have been wanting to go to the TALA for a very long time and finally got to go this weekend. They werr hosting Hearsearama and it was cool seeing all of the different hearses. We got there when the asylum opened so there wasnt a wait for the tour. We were in John's group and he was great!! He was full of information and had some jokes! Plan to come back and do an overnight stay!!!

Asylum ball. 2023. Went with two sisters and brother in law. All over age of 50. This was nothing more than a FRAT PARTY!!! College kids vomiting in trash cans pot smoking in the court yard. Big disappointment if you are expecting something with class. Great if you are a partying college student, we were shocked at the dominatrix woman spanking people 👎👎. Very disappointing we also did the asylum tour which we enjoyed. Great old place.

Today I had Cayleigh as my guide on the paranormal tour! She was so so knowledgeable, spoke loud and clear, didn’t ramble, and let us roam! This was my second time going on this tour! I love how each guide has their own stories they enjoy, and own parts of history they like to share! It just means you should continue coming back. I had one notable experience that made me raise an eyebrow; she took us to a room where these teens enjoyed messing with electronics. She mentioned them enjoying draining the battery on things so I went to check it out. I hung out for a minute in there and nothing happened to my battery so I jokingly said “ah not even one percent hahaha” and I noticed my wallpaper as well as homepage wallpaper were both changed to the factory wallpapers. If you know me, you know I don’t have those. They’re not even on my phone unless it’s somewhere I don’t know about which is even crazier! Will be coming back.

Had a awesome experience, would recommend it to anyone. If get a chance you need to check it out. Especially during Halloween

The Asylum was not as fun as the last few times I had been there, only 3 out of the 4 tour guides were actually there.

We experienced crazy paranormal activity it was so fun seeing all the rooms where crazy things happened like the bedpost murder

Connie was an excellent tour guide on the 4 floor historic tour. She knew the history of the building as well as provided insight into what actually went on inside the institution while it was operating. The whole experience was kind of mind blowing when you hear about the “treatments” and condition of life within the facility. Highly recommend the 4 floor tour and if you’re lucky, Connie will be your guide!

Took the historical tour today. We were planning on a longer tour but got there too late.
Collin done a great job showing us around and answering our questions. Will definitely visit again for a longer tour!!

Maranda was our tour guide we did the 45 minute historic tour and she was absolutely phenomenal and personable, thank you for being so passionate and caring about the history.
Definitely will be back again hoping she’s our tour guide.

This is my second time touring TALA but my first time doing the full-day discovery tour only offered in Mondays. Other than a short break for lunch we were in the various buildings and outdoors areas from 10am to almost 5:30 PM. Greg and Amy were the main guides, along with Michelle for certain portions. TALA is probably the most fascinating places on earth to me and the amazing tour guides help make it so. I highly encourage anyone into history, psychology, architecture, the paranormal, and/or morbid fascinations to visit!
Amazing Experiance
Amazing experireance, it's well worth the trip!! get the VIP tour or better. for me the 1&1/2 hours wasn''t enough. You get the Paranormal, History, Archutecture, and more.
