Great views

By Lee Ann R |

The path was pretty muddy because it had snowed earlier in the day. Walking up was a great experience; the falls were running full blast.

Treasure Falls Colorado

By sgworkman |

If you are in the area of Wolf Creek Pass in South Central Colorado...look for a pull out for parking about six miles below Wolf Creek Pass and Ski Resort. This pull out has two trail heads...both easy to do...that are good hikes for most family members. The waterfall is especially nice, and is about a mile long hike. The picture near the review I am typing is a good reflection of the destination of the hike. Although you can see it from Hwy. 160, it is worth the hike to feel the cool spray of the water hitting the rocks at the bottom of the falls. It is a very pretty hike, and near Bruce Spruce Ranch campground and the town of Pagosa Springs, Colorado

Beautiful in the fall but no falls

By sandrasdillon |

Went when the leaves were changing. Gorgeous foliage but no falls. We’ll have to go back in the spring.

Breathtaking view

By dsherrin |

Hike up the top- you’ll be glad you did. It’s steep but easy - you can do it. Very relaxing setting.

Beautiful Falls

By gaylewheeler1 |

My husband and I are Seniors and found this hike to be a moderate one. We took breaks when we became winded, but we made it all the way up. It was spectacular and worth the hike.

Beautiful Snowy Waterfall

By Justin P |

Treasure Falls is a 100-foot waterfall just of US-160 15 miles east of Pagosa Springs. We visited in early April and it was still very snowy. The falls are viewable from the parking area and two short trails lead up to the base. The main trail is pretty easy and the primitive trail is quite steep. We wore micro-spikes and went up the primitive trail and then back down the easy trail. Don't attempt without traction devices if its icy. There is a footbridge across the creek well below the falls and the Misty Deck for a closer view up close. As the name implies, you will get wet at the deck. Overall, a beautiful waterfall and worth an easy stop if in the Pagosa Springs area.

beautiful Falls..

By J B |

A hike to get to the top, but this is a beautiful falls with lots of pretty scenery on the way ! The view from the bridge, which is less of a hike, is actually a better view .

Not safe for elders

By Linda D |

Based on the reviews, I was feeling safe to take my 82 year old Mom on the trail . The trail was icy and not safe for a leisurely walk . It’s gorgeous, just not what I pictured based on reviews .

Steep climb to the falls

By Lespadg |

Unfortunately Pagosa has been in a drought so there wasn’t much water coming down the falls. We did this hike on our first day and the altitude ( I’m a low lander) really got to me. It is a short hike but steep. We had to stop many times and decided to just go to the overlook which was beautiful. You can see the falls from the bottom.

Nice spot to photograph.

By TifTrs . |

My daughter & I stopped and hiked into the falls after a visit to pagoda springs. It was a well maintained trail that was easy to navigate and was well traveled. It was free of litter & the hikers we met along the way were friendly.

Beautiful waterfall

By adventuresahead |

We stopped for 30-45 minutes on our way down south and so glad we did. It's a short but steep trail and the result is awesome. You get very close at the top, so prepare to get wet.

Great view and easy hike

By Kelley R |

The falls are beautiful and easily accessed from the parking area. The hike is a little challenging in a couple of spots but I had on shoes with no tread and was fine. Go early- we went at 10:00 a.m. with no crowd and when we drove by at 1:30 p.m. the parking area was packed.

Beautiful place

By Cindy |

We are both older. 71 and almost 80. I didn’t have proper shoes (sandals) and we were able to make it to the bridge. I highly recommend good shoes as it got dicey in places. I also recently had a hip replacement so it is doable. The hike is short and the reward is nice. Enjoy!

Steep Easy

By StillinLOVEsince84 |

See the falls from the car park and several points on the 0.4 mile trail, but beware the trail is steep and at points narrow. Take the bridge to sit and enjoy the falls.

Treasure Falls

By nellwilbanks |

The falls and the area around it has beautiful views. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes to walk the trail to the top of falls. The climb is not difficult but may require stops to catch your breath if you are new to the high altitude. Use caution coming down the trail.

Stunning Stop

By Melissa N |

This is a stunning place to stop off the side of the highway. We went in March and there was quite a bit of snow to hike through. When we made it to the bridge, it was the most stunning view. The waterfall was mostly frozen and was unbelievable! It was about a 10 minute walk to the bridge.

Easy Pull Off

By AmyZach1119 |

Pretty little waterfall that is easy to view from the parking area. There are two options to walk up the falls. One is a more rustic trail for the active biker.

Nice little hike right off the highway!

By bikealotOceanside |

We stopped on the way to Pagosa Springs to stretch our legs and decided to hike (walk) to the falls. It is a very short trip and really popular,ie, crowded!

Spectacular scenery!

By Patricia C |

This was our first trip to the area near the end of April. The drive there was so breathtaking, not to mention our arrival! What a spectacular view! The trail is only about a 1/4 of a mile to the bridge and/or the lookout deck. It took maybe 15 min to reach the lookout point. Nice and easy. My mom has bad knees and made it. She just stopped to rest here and there. If she can do it, anyone can. We arrived around 11am with only 1 car in the parking lot, before people came packing in the parking lot around 11:30am. The weather was great!

BEAUTIFUL IN SUMMER

By GREG JONES |

Great photo op during the summer but winter not so much slippery and cold water frozen over for most part still stop every time we are there in summer bad part have to park along side of road

BEAUTIFUL!

By Larissa M |

Please stop and take a look. You will enjoy the sound of the falls and the beautiful view right off of the highway! We passed by, & had to turn around to take a look.

Great small hike up with little kids.

By Jamie W |

Just went a few days ago with our 6,8, and 10 year old. Beautiful and very quick 15 - 20 min to top. Great for little kids. Located right on the side of the road. When you park there are 2 trails- left and right (take the one to the left if you have kids). The pretty lookout is at the bottom where you park on the right next to the sign. Lots of pretty pictures and totally worth the 15 minute drive from Pagosa Springs. There are no bathrooms there, so go before you head out. I would recommend tennis shoes, but still doable in flip flops too.

Conveniently located off of the highway easy and well maintained trail to waterfall

By Brown_Samantha |

There is a generous size parking area at the trail head. It is 0.6 miles loop trail (main one) with a elevation gain of ~ 200 feet. Lots of kids and hikers of all abilities. We found the trail to be nicely maintained, not hard at all. It is also very shady.

You first approach the bridge that offers a good view to the waterfall from below. Then you ascend some more to get up a little bit higher. When we went in June, the flow was quite nice. Not a trickle at all.

It made a lovely stop on our way to Durango. High recommend it.

No water

By Shirley B |

Nothing to see at this time of year. Still was a nice stop to hike and enjoy nature. Shouldn't go in the summer

Super Cool!

By VelvetPhillips |

Very easy to find. There was plenty of parking. The hike to the falls was great to stretch your legs & break up the monotony of the day but short enough where we had plenty of time to make several other attractions later. Nice history signs explaining the beauty & amazing to see in winter.

The waterfall

By Danny T |

Worth the drive up to the area, you must go to the left side as that is the main path to the waterfall. There was a trail to the right side but was very slippery and not recommend for non hiking boots or shoes. VEry BeauTiFul!!!

Worth the quick hike

By l00ps72 |

A great short, quick easy hike to the falls, only minutes from Pagosa Springs. A must if driving by.

Totally Worth the Stop!

By Timothy Y |

This waterfall is right off the highway. It's a short .25 mile hike uphill to get to the base of the falls. It early July, the water was flowing pretty well and we were getting blasted by the mist at the bottom of the falls.

You may want to wear sturdy shoes to make this hike easier. Lots of loose rocks and roots on the trail. A fair amount of people on the trail and by the falls. It's so easy to take great pictures from so many different angles at this place.

Amazing!

By Lisa P |

The snowpack this year made the Falls breathtaking! The primative trail up to the Falls is filled with a great variety of plants and nature to identify

Worth the drive.

By Warren N |

We visited Pagosa Springs along with Treasure Falls. It was a great visit especially the Springs Resort. We enjoyed the 25 spas and the area had some good hiking trails.

A Short Walk Offers a Big Payoff

By Mark B |

A beautiful waterfall that is just a short walk from the road. It is well worth a stop if you are driving up to Wolf Creek Pass. I'm sure the parking lot can get crowded during the busy summer season.

Had time to stop and enjoy the short hike

By MaroonDawg67 |

While staying a week in Pagosa Springs, my wife and I drove up to Wolf Creek Pass one morning and took the short hike up to the base of the falls. Being late spring, there was plenty of run-off and the falls were really flowing. We got some nice photos at the base and again from the parking lot at the base.

Perfect for families and a quick payoff

By Jeff R |

Fairly easy hike with some elevation to get the blood flowing. Beautiful waterfall and right off the highway. Quick in and out stop if you don't have time for a several mile hike.

Beautiful

By coachpond |

Short easy walk to waterfall. Very beautiful area. Easy enough for young kids. Has two different paths you can walk on

A stop along the way.

By Lppcann |

Beautiful scenery. Didn't climb up all the way, but you can see the falls from the parking lot. Worth the stop!

Beautiful for pictures - 2 trails

By Leigh A |

Nice 10-15 minute stroll on the left trail, some people were in flip flops/sandals. You can take a picture of the falls from the parking lot, a bridge after 10 minute walk or the end. The right trail is better to come down then to come up (you're likely to stay on the trail that way, otherwise there's a mistaken route on the way up that most visitors don't intend to get on nor are prepared for).

Frozen Falls

By lukesmom330 |

Frozen falls right off the interstate(?) Very beautiful site to see. A very short hike from the road. I would love to see it again when the weather is a little warmer.

Absolutely beautiful

By Gena W. |

It was a short hike, about half mile. It was easy, no loose gravel, plenty of stopping points up the trail. There were a few picture opportunities along the way to see the falls, Definitely worth the drive!

Beautiful

By Kelli L |

Beautiful but admire this view from the parking lot unless you are okay with walking on bumpy steep ground and don’t get dizzy.

Very Nice Hike

By MiamiTrip459 |

Wonderful hike. The falls are frozen and look great. This is short hike that does not take a long time for a great view.

Beautiful

By Odyssey401859 |

It's a great fast ten minute hike that is good for young kids and their is a beautiful waterfall at the top. If you are really adventurous y pi can swim at the very top but it's cold. You defenately want to wear tennis shoes but no need for boots. You can bring your dog, mine had a great time swimming, but you need a leash.

Close to the road and easy to visit

By Jan W |

The falls can be seen from the highway. At the parking lot for the falls a short trail, leads you up some switch backs so you can get closer to the falls and a bridge. Up a bit further on the trail is a viewing platform covered in mist from the spray of the falls.

Hike

By hartatack |

Fantastic easy hike for all ages. It is a fun place to view the mountains and water. I took 5 of my grandkids and they had to work at it.

Great stop/hike after heading west over Wolf Creek Pass

By WorkUncaged |

A great short hike, although steep, to see the falls. There are lots of places to rest if needed. We hiked the right side on the way up which is definitely less maintained and would be hard with small kids. Make sure to take the well-maintained path on the left for those less steady.

Gorgeous view of falls

By Tammy B |

A short easy hike takes you back to a close up view of these falls. The falls are visible from the road turn out, but the close up view after hiking back is well worth it.

Beautiful falls

By Jamie H |

The hike up to the observation bridge was rather steep and narrow. Take your time and wear good shoes. But once we made it, the view of the falls was awesome. We enjoyed being cooled by the mist from the falls.

Great waterfall to see

By Susanne T |

It's a beautiful right off the main highway. You can view the fall from the parking lot overlook, but it is totally worth it to climb/walk up to the bridge (about 15 minutes) to get a closer look. You can also go another five minutes to get closer, but be ready to get wet.
We had a great time enjoying our little break from driving.
If the parking lot is full, there is a huge pullout across the street, where you can park

Springtime snowfalls

By Robert C |

Hiked to the waterfall in the Fall and were disappointed with the flow. Our springtime visit more than made up for it. Rushing beauty complete with snow to make the short hike a highlight. Easy access from Hwy 160 and near to Pagosa Springs combined with a family friendly trail make it a must-do.

The water was flowing well in June

By 42kRun |

Nice views of this towering waterfall from the Hwy 160 parking lot or a short walk up the trail. Good parking space

Nice hike

By Bj F |

I’m 49 and had no problem hiking up the primitive trail. It’s beautiful. It’s free. The sound of the water fall is incredible.

Visited on a rainy day

By GreywolfAbilene |

This is -mile off the side of the road to Wolf Pass and is an easy 1/4-mile hike up to where you can see the falls. Don't expect a high volume of water going over the falls, but it's a long drop from the top and pretty, especially in the fall. It sleeted on me while I was there, so I hurried back to the car!

Great waterfall and views of the area mountains, moderate to easy trail

By wvlivingston |

The trail is an easy climb -- our 5-year-old grandson had no problem. The falls are beautiful. There are great views of nearby mountains and valley along the trail

Even us Floridians can do it!

By Bari1025 |

Was a little rough for my friend and I but we did it and well worth it! The cool mist from the falls and the fantastic pics! So fun for a cpl hours! Bought some native jewelry from the ladies there.

Climbed but only a trickle of water

By Catherine M |

We thought we would see the picture but not in the dry season. Chance of fire is high so there is hardly any water.

Lovely Hike: Choose the Primitive Trail with Care

By Joel I |

There are two trails: main and primitive.

The main trail is well-kept, with a gentle grade and easy walking for small ones, pups, or sandal-clad walkers. It hatches back and forth, offers a bridge below the falls, and a great viewing ledge at the base of the falls.

The primitive trail is aptly named. There are sections that are hand-over-hand, and others where the footing crumbles away. For the three adults it was interesting: for the kids (5, 4, 2) it was extremely challenging. The kids needed a lot of help and we paused several times to plan the next section. The reward was a spectacular view of the falls. But…

To avoid a dangerous descent we chose to traverse a 70-degree slope and cross the water at the base of the falls, and took the main path down. Handing my 2-y.o. off to her mom across the falls reflected one of the poorer choices of my career as a dad.

Beautiful falls, with a refreshing spray.
Primitive trail is *not* for small ones.

Beautiful, short hike

By az-dcSisters |

I believe the hike is a mile in and a mile out. Depending on your experience, there are two ways to get back to the falls...the path well traveled and a harder, more rustic trail. We selected the well traveled route and got to the falls in no time. Because of the heavy snow fall this winter, the falls were freely flowing and provided a great spray to cool us off on a hot summer day.

1/4 mile hike - Best in Spring to mid-July

By RLO1959 |

Easy hike, but best to go in late Spring to early July when the water is flowing well. We just saw a very small amount of water come down in a small pool of water. Lots of people stop for the hike, since it is right off Hwy 160.

Closed due to weather

By Trenda B |

No information anywhere that we saw to say that the falls were closed due to weather. Other information led us to believe you could see falls from parking lot. Tge road was dicey although snow plow had been through and you couldn't even get to parking lot. I am sure falls are beautiful but were unavailable for viewing😕

Great Family Hike

By Skip H |

Walked with a 3 and 4 yo. Got all the elements of a good hike in a 1/2 mile round trip.

Not flat. Lots of switchbacks and thus places to rest.

The falls are more or less interesting depending on the amount of water.

A treasure of a falls

By cynddavis |

Treasure Falls is a short drive outside Pagosa Springs in the San Juan Forest. It has two easy hikes and a beautiful lookout off the highway where I was able to do a painting and loads of photos.

Great start to our Colorado Trip

By Brandon B |

This easy stop gave our young kids a small taste of a hike along with the enjoyment of the amazing views on the way up. Even with less water during a dry spell, the waterfall and overlook points gave us 30 to 45 minutes to trek up and down.

Must stop for easy great view

By Suzanne |

Well worth the stop. Can view from observation point right off the road. Hike was closed off but great view from a distance. Ample parking.

Short, easy hike with view

By Stacey C |

We hiked up the primitive trail ( right- side) to the falls which is steeper and narrower. We came down the main trail ( to the left) which is wider with a gradual grade.

Both trails ( main or primitive) are nice - very doable with a beautiful water fall.

Visit Treasure Falls

By ScottM28185 |

It is a short hike from the parking area up to the falls. Very scenic and easy going. My wife didn't like the height at some points, but I thought it was fine. Definitely a fun thing to do when visiting the area. We spent about an hour there.

Short, beautiful! A must stop!

By Adam S |

We were vacationing in Pagosa Springs for a week, and wanted to try some of the TripAdvisor recommended things to do in the area. This was rated number one, and was a great short and beautiful hike very close by. The drive towards Wolf Creek Pass from Pagosa is probably one of the most beautiful areas in the state of Colorado. This hike allows for some spectacular views from higher elevations. The waterfalls, Treasure Falls themselves are quite nice as well. The Fall colors really took stage while we were there. I don't remember there being any restrooms, so plan in advance.

Well worth the hike.

By Lori G |

This was listed as a 1/4 mile hike to the falls. Note that most of that is uphill and you are in a higher altitude. The path was easy to walk on though. We were here late morning on a Monday in late August so not too busy. We had time to take pictures. It is very pretty and worth the hike.

Quick trip to nice falls

By Judy H |

If you can snag a parking spot, take a few minutes while driving to or from Pagosa Springs to walk up this fairly easy and very short trail to a nice waterfall.

Gorgeous View

By Jessica S |

Excellent payout for a short hike! You can choose from either the main trail (much shorter and more flat) or the primitive trail (relatively steep) to get to the falls. We took the primitive trail up and the main trail back down. The waterfall can be viewed without the hike, but if you can, go up the trail. The waterfall is so gorgeous and powerful, but prepared to get wet! The views from the top are unforgettable.

TIP: the parking lot is small, go earlier in the day to avoid crowds. Taking the primitive trail will also help avoid a crowd.

Beautiful falls- short hike up!

By njkinney |

On a Saturday it was a bit crowded, but a nice little hike up! Fall colors were almost there! Might be better in a week or 2. Fun short hike!

Pretty falls

By donna f |

June visit awesome
October was very disappointing. There was only a trickle
June visit was the best. Lots of gorgeous, inspiring and powerful water!!
I really enjoyed the lower level streams on the right when facing the falls.
This is a spot to visit every visit and every season

Beautiful view

By Missy G |

Our family truy enoyed this. The hike is fairly easy, My 71 yr. old mother in law was able to walk up the trail to see the waterfall with us. There is one spot that is some what of an incline. They do offer benches along the way if you need to rest.

Not worth the hike in August

By ksufan88 |

The regular trail (not the primitive trail) is a 1/4 mile of zigzagging uphill to reach the falls. When we went in August, the water flowing over the falls was only a trickle. My wife and I did not feel the hike/effort was worth it. I'm sure it must be more impressive at other times of the year. We would recommend hiking at Chimney Rock or some other nearby attraction instead.

Favorite hike and pet friendly

By TodandTiff |

This is our favorite hike near Pagosa. It is pet friendly and an easy walk to get to the falls. The falls were frozen in January but still beautiful.

Accessible slice of heaven

By Nirvana |

Nice hike for part of afternoon plans. Actually a loop trail, trail on right from parking lot less traveled. Couple slippery/steep sections easily passed, waterfall is amazing. Even with crowds you will have a chance to experience it privately.

Nice hike

By drwatson32 |

We took the main trail in the snow. This is a nice hike. The bridge at the falls was very snow packed, so be careful! Beautiful view!

Pretty when up close

By Alex D |

The water was really low, so the waterfall didn't look very full when standing at the parking lot. My husband hiked up the public trail to the mist deck in about 30 min roundtrip. The view was better when up close to the waterfall.

Good for beginners

By Cammy M |

This is about half a mile up and the falls are great. You can see part of the falls from the road. This is a trail that would be easy for young kids. We really enjoyed and you can veer off from the falls and go to an outlook to view other mountains.

Little Trickle of Water....

By BonnieLee77 |

Big water shortage when we were there, so we didn't hike to the falls (or trickle). You can see the falls from the road and it is a beautiful area...maybe next time there will be some water!! It's on the right on a very sharp curve going up the mountain to Wolf Creek Pass. Don't miss it!

Beautiful falls and hike

By Rusty B |

Right off the highway, the 10-15 minute hike is worth seeing this beautiful waterfall. The hike I would describe as easy to moderate if you are at least in average shape.
If you don’t want to go all the way to the top, there is a bridge at the base of the waterfall you can hike to and get a great few.
If going between Pagosa Springs and South Fork, stopping by here is worth your time.

Beautiful water fall next to highway 160

By matt b |

Great hike and awesome view of the falls up close. Only an 1/2 mile one way with about 200 foot elevation adjustment. Take your time and should be good. Worth the walk.

Beautiful frozen falls & fun hike!

By cricket1994 |

This was an impromptu stop after seeing it on the side of the road and we are so glad that we stopped! It was a fun hike up to frozen Treasure Falls that was frozen And it was not only beautiful but a fun hike!

Take the hike

By StaceyMom |

Treasure Falls is absolutely gorgeous! Definitely take the hike up because the view from the viewing platform does the Falls no justice compared to what you'll see when you get up close!

Must see

By Amber W |

Worth the short drive from Pagosa. Nice trail, not too long. Beautiful views points of an amazing waterfall

nice short hike

By 717Mary55 |

Enjoyed the hike and seeing the falls. Colorado has been in a drought so the falls were not very spectacular.

Nice, quick hike

By grifgold |

We really enjoyed the falls. It’s a fairly easy hike, but you can also see the falls and take pictures from the bottom. Since it’s short, you can take your time going up. Right now, there’s a lot of spray, so it’s a bit chilly at the splash way.

Great hike!

By carlyweiss |

Had so much fun hiking up to the waterfall! Saw lots of wildlife! My kids ages 12, 8 and 6 loved it as well!

Nice Waterfall

By Karin D |

We stopped by this waterfall on our way out of town. It was a nice way for our family to spend about 45 minutes hiking and snapping pics.

Beautiful stop on the road

By Anne |

We decided to take a stretch break at this scenic stop and loved it! We all hiked up the mountain to the deck at the base of the falls. It is a beautiful walk and well maintained path. Pet friendly and lots of photo opportunities and gorgeous flowers!

Waterfall hike

By april118 |

We have driven over wilf creek pass many times, but had never stopped to see the falls. This time we stopped. It did not disappoint! Pretty little water fall, walked the trail as far as the falls. Not terribly steep, has lots of switch backs. Dog/leashed friendly. Lots of pretty wildflowers and chipmunks.

Breath taking!!

By Dani S |

Located right off the highway. Short hike to waterfall. Easy enough for children. A must see, fun for the whole family!!

Treasure Falls near Pagosa Spring CO

By Gina W |

The water falls covered with snow and frozen, the water falls flowing down not much but still pretty.

Worth the short hike

By DoubledeeAZ |

Can see falls from parking lot, but the short hike to the falls is a must. Just do it! Highly recommend!

Nice waterfalls

By Jay C |

We finally stopped at this attraction after passing it by for years. It is a picturesque waterfall that is very popular.

Main trail...

By maggie2moo2002 |

We took the easier route and stopped often. We are older and don’t do as much exercise. We made it to the second view above the bridge. It was spectacular. Don’t miss this. A lovely early morning activity. Then head over to Wolf Creek Pass for a stop at the Continental Divide.

Quick side trip

By Selena S |

This was a fun side trip on our way from Durango to Breckenridge. It was right off the highway and didn't take long. The waterfall has two areas to view it. We visited both. We did get misted at the "Misty" viewing area. It was nice to get out of the car and walk around.

Family friendly hike with beautiful view of the waterfall.

By Cari W |

The hike is easy but also a good little exercise. Good for young kids - our toddler did most of the hike on his own. Beautiful waterfall views at the top.

Roadside Treasure

By Clorissa P |

Treasure Falls is easy to find, its located north of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Right before you get to Wolf Creek pass. If your going going north, its on right hand side of the road. There is parking for about 20 cars, and there's larger parking for RV's & larger vehicles along side off the main Hwy road.

There are 2 trails that get to falls. Beware that neither are wheelchair friendly. Because of the tree roots that poke up from the ground, steep inclines, loose rocks & narrow walkways. That make it challenging for someone in wheelchair to make up to the falls. The main trail is the easiest way to get up the falls. This trail has signs on points of interest. It's more user friendly.

The other trail is a bit unkempt, and there's is no signs indicating where to go. Many people were getting lost. So many side trails were made by people, and makes it difficult to navigate. And it's way steeper & narrower. If you have physical disabilities, have little one's, or have pets. Do not use this trail!

When you get up to falls, it's breathtaking wonder. A narrow bridge gives you a panoramic view of the falls. There's a small area, where the water flows down the mountain. That you can sit down at. But it can only fit about 3 to 4 people. You can walk a little further up, and get a closer look at the waterfall. You can feel the cool mist, blowing off the falls. Which makes it a refreshing experience. Overall, it's a great stop to getaway from the hustle of everyday life. I highly recommend this place!

If you can climb 2 flight of stairs - you can see the falls

By Pat A |

We took two 80 year old parents and they did fine. As long as folks are confident of their balance on ground that is a little uneven, they will be fine!

Great hike for kids

By Michelle S |

Great place to stop and stretch your legs on the way to Durango - there are two trails and wish we had done them opposite - do the "primitive" on the way up for better footing and the "main trail" on the way down. Parking is not huge but people are always coming and going.

Beautiful, short hike to get there

By kfmonroe8 |

Nice clear path to falls, does have inclines and stairs, worth the walk for sure. Dog friendly trail as well

What a Treasure!

By mujerlinda |

Short hike up to the falls involved some inclines but not too bad. We went in the morning before the crowds showed up. The Falls were great to listen to and you could actually walk down a bit to touch the water. Great thing to do if you enjoy a not to strenuous hike with great views

Worth Your Time

By BettyCama |

I thought it was moderate when I first started out but had come from East Coast 2 days ago and might have been adjusting to altitude. Loose gravel but good trail and scenic waterfall. Liked the trail for first day.

Stunning power...great views.

By kahunastev |

Shortest of all the hikes we took in the area, and you can see the falls from the road. The left walkway is the easy trip, and to the right is the primitive trail. Seeking thrills and adventure, we of course went right and were met with a steep climb and slippery slopes. It was exciting but don't say you weren't warned. The falls at the top of the climb were spectacular, and the mist from them was freezing and bracing. We took the easy route down, because my wife threatened to throw me off the top of the falls if we went back the same way.

Pretty and easily viewed waterfall

By cmelville |

Just off US 160 this is a very pretty waterfall in spring and early summer. A paved path leads upwards to several nice viewing spots but the falls can also be seen from the parking lot.

Great Stop

By Carol S |

We sure enjoyed our little hike to see the falls. In the Spring there would be much more flow. I do believe the hike is more than 1/4 mile listed on the map at entrance.

Beautiful scenic view

By Elenka S. |

Treasure Falls was a great addition to our Pagosa Springs trip. You may see it from the highway but the best experience is when you get up to the viewing bridge. The pathway is very steep in some areas and you have to cross little river with a couple of rocks to help you cross. But it is well worth it, in the end. Just beautiful falls! Definitely recommended.

Beautiful

By Kristy |

Beautiful area. The kids (13 & 8) enjoyed the short hike and scenery. Would definitely recommend if you have 30-45 minutes to explore. Worth the hike.

Scenery is gorgeous!

By Amy Y |

We hiked to the falls recently and since the area was under severe drought, the falls weren't as impressive as we hoped, but the scenery is gorgeous! Please know the main path is a hike and not a leisurely stroll. You definitely have to walk up some steep areas, but the views are gorgeous as you go and if you take your time, the bridge in front of the falls is worth the climb! We were very careful not to step off the trail to be respectful to natural surroundings and enjoyed everything about this beautiful place.

Definitely a treasur!

By underground u |

Great exercise and an even greater payoff at the end. If you are in the area stop and see this site. Great place for photos and take the main trail to stop at the overlook of the beautiful man. range across the highway.

Nice short stop on a way to Pagosa Springs

By Pawel S |

The main trail is short, wide and easy. You could do the loop but the second trail is steep and could be very slippery if wet. The fall is beautiful and worth the effort.

Gorgeous!

By Sylvia M |

In the winter, the falls are frozen and just beautiful. In the sumemr, the water is flowing and it's still gorgeous. In the fall, the colors surround the waterfall and it's heaven.

Nice trail right off the highway

By Diana M |

Beautiful waterfall trail directly off the highway. Not a very hard hike but a little steep. Lots of people here due to easy access.

Lovely

By Curiosity812446 |

Only a short hike to get to the water fall. There was snow in the path so it was somewhat challenging but worth doing. I took very nice pictures and video. Only 20 min away from Pagosa

Nice 1 mile round trip visit to the falls

By michaeljones46 |

Nice scenic area, not overly crowded and was a great recreational area. The falls were nearly dry when we visited but looks like would be impressive falls in the spring and early summer

Very pretty

By CentralIllinoisBenny |

Nice falls, just ample parking. Probably best to view in June when water level is higher to get a better effect.

Nice scenic hike

By jdkrup77 |

My wife and I hiked this up to the falls. Beautiful scenery and lots of nature. The only drawback was in September the river was barely falling as it was a drier time of year.

A beautiful hike when the falls are "full"

By Gary O |

The trail to the bridge is moderate and the scenery beautiful. Be prepared to be wet if you hike all the way to the base of the falls when the falls are full force.

stunning

By Terri G |

beautiful - easy access for all ages. Views are spectacular. Winter or summer this waterfall is great to visit ---- parking is close with a nice path up to the falls. Various places to take great photos.

Nice Water Fall

By Michael N |

Look for the large parking lot that is well marked and usually very busy in the warmer months. There is a fall viewing area at the lot but the short 1/4 mile trail takes you to the base of the falls and a better overall view. Trail is dirt with obstacles like rocks and tree roots. There are several benches to rest on the trail. Good shoes recommended.

Traveling

By Keturah D |

Just takes a few minutes toatop by here but fully recommended-- it's a beautiful and so peaceful water fall. You can hike higher or just settled from seeing by the lower level.

SHORT HIKE OR VIEW FROM ROAD

By Lu Baillie |

Treasure Falls is a beautiful and tall waterfall that is a short hike from the bottom of Highway I60. It usually flows throughout the summer if the Colorado Southwest is not in a drought. During the winter months, Ice Climbers can be seen challenging this beauty. During early spring, you can see the falls literally shooting out the water due to the snowmelt in the mountains. You must stop and enjoy this when traveling by.

Beautiful waterfall close to the road

By Bj M |

On our scenic drive we stopped at the falls. The falls had a primitive trail and main trail. My husband went up the primitive trail which he said was rough and steep in places and came down the main trail which he said was flat and graveled. He said he really enjoyed the walk and seeing the falls up close.

An awesome ice climb!

By JoJoBoHo5656 |

We have visited these lovely, easily accessible falls in summer, but what a surprise in winter. The ice is clean, solid, sustained vertical. A lead-only situation, but for those seeking uncrowded ice, this is a winner.

Beautiful and Easily Accessible

By HWHDKT |

We arrived at peak melt so the waterfall was absolutely amazing. It is a quick walk that just about anyone can do and it is well worth it. I recommend taking the left path up for those that want it as easy as possible but it is only about a 15 min walk tops and well worth it. Would lover to see when the falls are frozen as well :). Well work the brief trip and we went at 10am on a Sat and there was no one there but it was busy around 11-12 when we happened to drive by again. Make sure to go to the top after you take pictures on the bridge to the mist deck. Again about a 2 min hike up to that next step.

Great little hike!

By Nicole W |

This is a great little hike, not far from Pagosa Springs. There are 2 trails up to the falls - on the right is the primitive trail, featuring a more steep, but shorter, climb. We went up that way. The other trail, on the left from the parking area, is longer, with more switch backs, and less steep. We took that path back down. Treasure Falls itself is beautiful, with a small rainbow at the bottom. You can also wade in the water at the bottom. Around the falls, it is much cooler, like a natural A/C!

Favorite short hike

By TodandTiff |

The trail is about .25 mile up a fairly easy path. You can go just half way to the bridge and take some pics but I recommend going all the way to the falls. I love waterfalls and this is a fun one to visit.

Two viewing areas at the top

By Patricia L |

All uphill hike but not difficult. Parking will be the biggest challenge. Several openings thru the trees offer great views of scenery.

Gorgeous

By Schmagle |

Hiked in with Grand kids to first level. Heard folks up at next level swimming so we went up there and kids got in the pool. It was freezing but beautiful

It’s an easy access, short quick hike to an amazing waterfall. Don’t miss it

Best way to start a summer day!

By JVAuditMom |

Arrive early to avoid crowds (for real!).
Hike the primitive trail on the way up for some nice views.
Watch out for trail areas that have been washed away due to recent (2020-2021) heavy rains.
Keep dogs on-leash. Keep children close to prevent falling.
DO NOT carve on the aspen trees.

Worth the hike!

By Miranda O |

If you are wondering if it is worth the hike it absolutely is! It is a medium hike and is pretty much uphill and I almost gave up but it is worth it! You can go behind the waterfall!

Waterfalls

By Patfal55 |

Easy hike to see Treasure Falls and the top of the falls can be viewed from highway and pullover area designated for the falls. Beautiful falls and easy hike to all viewing levels of the falls.

Beautiful!

By BonnieNimmo |

Our friends, who just moved to Pagosa Springs a week ago, drive us out to Treasure Falls. It is a beautiful drive out and well worth visiting this gorgeous spot!

So worth it

By pezell |

Don’t miss this. We had already had a full day and we were definitely getting tired, when we pulled off the highway to see the falls. We decided to take the hike. It was so worth it!! We loved the falls. They are thunderous right now. So glad we did it. The hike was uphill, but short and easy.

great scenery

By 888tjack |

Great short hike to get out and stretch the legs on. The path on the left side of the parking area is easier and a good way to go up. Once you cross the bridge at the base of the falls there is a primitive trail that comes down the right side of the creek it is much steeper. Even with the drought conditions this year the falls were really nice to see and the water is COLD!

A Beautiful Stop on the way up Wolf Creek Pass

By Roger B |

I have seen the pull off for Treasure Falls on my past trips west, through Wolf Creek Pass, but was unable to stop. On this trip, I was determined to see the falls.

The falls parking lot is only accessible to vehicles heading east, up Wolf Creek Pass on US 160. Treasure Falls are visible from the parking lot. For those more adventurous, there are several trails that lead up to the foot of the falls, if you're up to a short hike.

Nice falls and easy hike

By Vickie L |

These falls were just far enough to feel we hiked but not so far to make us completely worn out. There are 2 paths. The one to the left is the easiest. The right more rugged. We did both. The falls were so pretty. Grandkids 10 & 12 enjoyed the hike which is a lot. I was able to hike at 58 with a brace for torn miniscus.
Bring some sunflower seeds and the chipmunks by the parking lot will be your friends forever.

Beautiful easy hime

By Maggie B |

Off the highway, you'll find Treasure Falls. Legend has it that French fur trappers found a bunch of gold on the mountains, melted it into coins, and lost it all when they were massacred by Ute Indians. Supposedly the treasure is still up there somewhere. I say leave it to the Utes, but that's beside the point...

Parking is good and there are two trail options: primitive and man made. We did both but the primitive was pretty icy, so you'll need good hiking boots with grips. The man made trail is great for families, even small children had no problem making the 30 minute uphill hike. When you get the top, the view is spectacular. When we were there it was almost totally frozen over. It's a beautiful little side trip, great way to get some fresh air and exercise.

Nice short hike to beauty

By Chris S |

Nice trail, nice short hike, takes about 15-20 minutes to hike to the falls and it’s worth it! Several benches along the way for those who need to rest on the way up. Trail in good condition and pretty wide.

Bring Chipmunk food

By Big Daddy |

Disappointed. Not much water flow at the time of our trip. Good views from the top of the trail. Bring some peanuts for the Chipmunks at the parking lot.

Glad to visit over 20 years since visiting the last time

By Clint D |

Always enjoy a hike up to Treasure Falls although it was not as fast or easy as when I used to visit in my 30's & 40's. Still love to hear the sound of the falls, feel the wetness & view the sparkling, rushing water

Easy and hard trails are perfect

By LindaRIowa |

Morning stop as falls get busy. Of course we took the ‘narrow, steep trail, slippery when wet’ after a previous day of rain! We are 60+ years but the trail was doable. All the way to the bridge then continuing on the other side farther up to the falls. It is a beautiful site looking up and down into the valley. Took the easy trail down which is very doable for any age and ability. Glad we stopped.

Beautiful hike

By lnytns |

Lovely 1/3 mile hike up to Treasure Falls. The view is breathtaking and refreshing at the top when you get hit by the spray! There are two paths you can hike up - the more beaten path as well as a "primitive" trail, which my husband, son, and stepson took and said wasn't that bad - just a few tricky spots.

Nice place.

By Hector Bolanos |

Nice place with good views and an easy to moderate hike (depending on your personal stamina). Ample parking and best of all, it's free!

Snowy Treasure Falls

By aramyers |

Even with the snow, it was beautiful and the hike up was worth it! The path was wet but pine needles on the snow made it for an easy walk up. Upon reaching the falls, it was nice to get cooled by the mist!

Waterfall

By Travelingtucker |

There are two trails to the waterfall, one is a paved walkway and one is a natural trail. Worth the short hike to see treasure falls.

Beautiful falls!

By Brenda G |

Beautiful falls you can actually see from the parking lot or walk a short distance and get closer. Stop and smell the briar rose along the path...they are very fragrant.

Great Little Hike

By travelingal31 |

Great little hike in July. It took about 15-20 min total to complete the hike and take pictures. It was worth the stop. There were even people swimming in the water in July!

Had the best of short hikes up to Treasure falls.

By Chris F |

Was delighted to find the coolness of a bountiful mist at the top of the trial to see Treasure Falls on a hot summer day. The short and easy hike took less than an hour.

Really depends on season

By Trout seeker |

Treasure Falls is a nice treat to experience but be mindful of the season that you are there. If you are there in June, July, and some of August then you’ll get sprayed with a delightful cooling mist as the falls will be in full bloom. By September it tapers down to a water falls without the mist and a pond that you can dip your feet.
The trail is wide yet it is not smooth for the most part. Nature continues to change it’s condition. Take your time with breaks due to altitude but any flat footer can easily do the trail. Great views of Saddle Mountain to your west. There is a trail on the southern side once you reach the bridge on top. This trail is narrow and steeper but doable for those with balance.
If the falls is fully engaged, the trail at the very top has a sheen of slippery packed dirt surface from the heavy mist. But this can be avoided by standing just a few yards further back.

Worth the stop and easy hike

By HAS |

Nice little spot to view the falls. A bit crowded but everyone is polite. Wear proper shoes and watch your step. There's a more primitive trail if you're up for the challenge, but the main trail is easy for all ages.

Pagosa Springs favorite

By YeahBuddy3499 |

Wyndham Resort has everything on site that you could want. Walking trails, fishing, indoor pool, fantastic gym.
Location is close to several hot springs, churches, restaurants. Also has planned activities each day.

OK

By P F B |

It's a 1/4 mile walk/ hike up a steel hill to the falls. Two vantage points to view them, one from a bridge, another from a platform closer to falls. There is also another viewing area that is a scenic overlook of the mountain area itself. The falls were nice, but nothing spectacular. Maybe the falls would be better after a rain storm when more water would be falling. Not a lot of time is needed here.

Short Hike to this Treasure

By Ross A P |

There are two paths to this waterfall. Take the one to the left. It is a much easier hike especially for the older folks. It's a short drive (20 minutes) from Pagosa. Not a hike for the handicap in anyway. There are blockades all along the trail. They are not shortcuts so stay on the path as the signs say at each of these locations. Preserve the lands for our next generations. It is amazing the power that is generated by waterfalls and to think the many years it has taken to carve a path whereby it flows. You can see a rainbow here on the waterfall itself. Makes for pretty cool pictures. There is no admission to this site.

Nice hike

By kansasphotogal |

The falls can be viewed from the roadside pull-off but to really enjoy them the hike to the closer viewing areas is worth it. The hike is uphill but the left path is wide, gradual and well maintained.

Take your out of town guests

By pagosacowboy |

This is not only picturest, it’s also a great place for a hike. We always take our out of town guests to Treasure Falls. Hike up at least half way for some great views. And don’t forget to take some nuts or trail mix for the chipmunks.

Great little hike

By KEMSTL |

Easy to get to, right on the highway. Really easy hike and fun to play in the water. Let the kids wear water shoes!

Treasure Falls

By jrf022305 |

Although listed as an easy hike, it wss a very steep walk for kids and elderly people in our group. Off main highway, parking could be an issue.

Worth the visit.

By MartyZZZ |

This was a fairly easy/moderate hike uphill to the base of the falls. We went up the easier of the two trails, located at the left side of the parking lot. Since you get a really nice view of the falls from the parking lot, you can skip the hike up if you’re short of time, or want to avoid the climb. The falls are about a 15-20 minute beautiful drive from Pagosa Springs.

Great outing, doable hike for most.

By Andre33343 |

This is about a 1/4 mile hike, good switchbacks and very attainable for most. Great views of the mountains and valley and the falls were beautiful. Highly recommended for a nice outing.

A lovely and worth while walk.

By fossiltx |

This was recommended by several locals. A fair walk with places to rest. Accent was about 900 feet. The falls was beautiful and worth the walk. That was agreed by all the party. If you like the outdoors you should go.

TAKE the hike!

By David N |

If you have never seen a frozen waterfall up close, you can't even imagine how beautiful it is. We took the park path (not the primitive one) to the falls. It was easy but slippery in place the day we went. Just take your time and pay attention, it's worth it. We could walk right up to the base of the falls! It was a strange feeling for this southerner to be standing on a frozen stream and hear the water gurgling under my feet. You can see the falls from the lookout point, but please take the 30 minutes to hike closer, you won't regret it.

Great stop for all ages!!!

By Cindy L |

Steep walk.. But has benches along the way. Falls are pretty and hike is short and sweet. Great spot!

small trail to a nice waterfall.

By ddubdub11 |

This is a good family trail to take up to some nice falls. It is a short hike and there are 2 trails to get up there. the old trail is to the right of the bridge and the new easier trail is on the left side of the bridge. The old trail can get a bit challenging for some people. If you are handicapped in some way , I would take the new trail as it doesn't require any scrambling. The waterfall itself is definitely worth the short hike.

Gorgeous

By TravelingRunner77 |

Treasure falls was a bit packed but well worth the trip.
The falls are stunning, particularly in the fall. My husband and I loved it! Our puppies enjoyed it too.

Quick but beautiful hike!

By Kerry |

Treasure Falls was a short drive away from our condo rental in Pagosa Springs and on the way to the Wolf Creek Pass Summit. It is a short but relative steep hike but absolutely worth it! The waterfall was beautiful. We did see some hikers go beyond the area that had a sign that said do not enter and that always bothers me. The signs are there for a reason and we need to respect them. But overall it was a fun and quick activity for my family. I highly recommend it!

Beautiful

By Carol W |

I’m almost 60 and a bit over weight the half mile up to the falls was a struggle. I read the reviews and didn’t realize the elevation was going to be such a factor. We made it up the easy trail and the view was breathtaking. So be prepared to take a few breaks to catch your breath. But, totally worth it!

Easy & Beautiful

By Jodi H |

Easy, uphill hike which leads to a picturesque falls. Great little break off the highway on a long roadtrip!

Absolutely gorgeous!

By Kathy D |

A small, easy hike to the falls. Beautiful scenery. The view from the top was awesome. Weather was wonderful. Too many people, but that is expected with this view.

A beautiful, easy hike

By Jay B |

Treasure Falls is a beautiful setting and you can get up to the falls with a fairly easy hike. The scenery is amazing.

Beautiful

By Andrew P |

A must see. Very beautiful! A lot of walking but well worth it. Make sure you go see the falls and then go to the outlook!

Great family hike!

By bluejean78 |

During March it was still covered with ice and fairly slippery/muddy. But a 5 year old and a 42 year old without hiking shoes made it so you can too. It was about 30 minutes round trip. 10 minutes out of Pagosa Springs. Partially melted. 100% worth it!

Nice view

By Kathy F |

Drove to this location to see the falls. Really pretty even though there was still a lot of snow and ice. You can see the falls from the parking area if you don’t want to hike the trails.

easy hike

By yitz_1 |

An easy hike on a smooth trail. bout a 10 minute walk from the parking lot. Very pretty falls at the end.

So pretty!

By Tryinginaustin |

Super accessible from the road with just a short hike. We had been warned that the falls wouldn’t be spectacularly huge due to the milder winter, but it was still beautiful.

Great liitle hike

By ptm2 |

Randomly stopped here while driving to pagosa springs. For a no nothing random highway turn off... this is pretty neat.

Steep but doable

By MyPrairieGirl |

We were here on 10/23, after the pass had cleared for travel. This is a short steep hike but there are benches for resting along the way and lots of switch backs. The path is not paved and there are occassional roots and rocks. At the top there is a viewing platform and more benches.

It's worth the hike.

Great hike

By 4ksuwildcats |

This is a short hike up to the falls. We went up the primitive trail and came back down on the main trail. Good hike for beginners. The area is in a drought so there wasn’t much water flowing but it was still nice to see.

A Drive-Up Waterfall!

By Violette54 |

Treasure Falls is literally a drive up waterfall. It plunges 105-feet and is a one-mile round trip hike up to the falls, from the parking lot. The trail is steep and often muddy. The parking lot is generous, but often full. If you just want to view the falls, its a quick visit. Otherwise plan on at least an hour to hike, depending on the trail conditions and one's skill. Wear appropriate footwear.
It's located right on Hwy. 160, about 15 miles East of Pagosa Springs. The parking pullout is on the right.
I loved being able to see the falls from the parking lot.

Falls anyone can see

By jts621 |

Lovely falls so near the road that hiking is not required as you can see them from parking lot. Of course, climbing up a bit makes the view more dramatic.

Great stop on our way to Pagosa Springs

By GunnHa |

We stopped out of curiosity and so glad we did! You can see the falls from the parking lot, but take the little loop to see it up close! When you’re standing on the parking lot looking up at the falls, you have the steep and for some perhaps a bit strenuous trail on your right and the easier hike on your left. We went up the steep trail and down on the other side. Good fun!

Instant Gratification

By lisatann |

This is such an easy thrill. To see the falls, all you have to do is pull a few feet off Highway 160. It can be a 5-minute (or less) visit if you're really pressed for time, so there's really no reason to miss it. If you have a little more time and good walking shoes, there's a great little trail with lots of switchbacks that'll take you very close up to the falls. If you're a fast walker, a round trip would be 30 minutes or less. If you do it at a leisurely pace, with lots of breaks at the benches along the way, a round trip *might* take as much as an hour.

There's also a "primitive" trail to the right of the falls as you face them (the main trail is to the left) -- I wouldn't recommend that unless you're an active hiker. It's actually prettier and shadier than the other trail but it's much steeper and rougher than the other trail.

A must!

By TexasRed |

We went based on the trip advisor reviews. Very scenic and easy hike for the whole family. We went in the evening and it was perfect!

Beautiful Falls

By HoneyvilleTraveler55 |

We stopped by Treasure Falls on a cloudy day a couple of days after rain and snow hit Southern Colorado. Loved the relatively easy hike and view of the falls from the lower bridge.

Great short hike

By CathyC641 |

Enjoyed the wooded area to reach the Falls and the hike up to them. We took the easier route but there is a harded trail available. There is also a look out trail off the main trail which offers a beautiful view of the mountains.

Breathtaking!

By Becky Y |

I would give this 20 stars if I could! You can see ok in the parking lot, but it’s a short hike up to the top! Very doable & not hard at all. Being hit by the mist was magical! So beautiful. My favorite waterfall we’ve been to yet!

Easy hike

By Alan |

Was a very easy hike! We were able to see the falls from the parking lot. My girlfriend actually did it in sandals.

Hiking

By Bonnie N |

My family loves coming here for a fun day. Fall the water does not flow like it does in the spring. We have done this hike many times at different seasons but it’s best after the snow starts melting. However not a good hike in flip flops due to slippery rocks. Follow all the signs when you are up by the falls. They are there for your protection. I have seen many parents allowing their young children to hike to the bottom of the falls when clearly there is a sign that says do not go beyond this point.

Beautiful Falls, Easy Hike.

By StaffordTXMamaSmurf |

We stopped and took this hike up to the falls. There are two different trails. One is more challenging than the other. Our grandchildren took the more primitive trail and my husband and I took the easier one. We called it the Grandma Trail. I am 64 and my husband is 73 and we did not have any trouble hiking this trail. The falls were beautiful as they were frozen over on top. There is a bridge first and then a look out higher up. It was a great hike and beautiful scenery.

Gorgeous and easy, short hike to get there!

By Anika M |

Over Memorial Day weekend it was gushing and unbelievably beautiful! A month later it appeared to have much less water, but we didn't go up close in June. Either way, it is totally worth the visit!

Really cool in the winter!

By Cassandra W |

We came in February and the trail was slick but hike-able. It was an easy hike too. Uphill, but gradual so it’s not too challenging.

Pretty

By April_May2007 |

A fairly short hike, and not too steep:
The falls were really rushing this time of year, so we didn't go to the upper level, because the path was muddy from the spray of the falls at that level. We went up the trail to the lower level, and the path there was not muddy. We took our granddaughters, and we saw many people with small children. It was very pretty!

Touristy but breathtaking

By Shane W |

These falls were worth the visit. Large falls after a short hike. Very crowded parking lot and lots of people but worth the stop. The gals were remarkable.

Happiness 💖

By FantasmicGirl |

Grab a bottle of water and head up the mountain!! There's something about fresh, crisp, mountain air that brings about a certain happiness! A short journey up the mountain is rewarded by an amazing waterfall!! There's plenty of places to stop and rest on the way up so really, almost anyone can make the trip!!

Great Hike - Lost Rings

By Alex B |

Just had an amazing hike here with my family, but my wife and I misplaced her wedding ring near the falls.

If located, I have proof they are ours and would of course answer any questions the finder may have.

Please reach out to me at Alex.g.bernacchi@gmail.com with any information

Beautiful site.

By Richard M |

Beautiful falls when there is water. sometimes in dry time of year it is mearly atrickle if at all. Well maintained trail though to the base of th falls, not recommended for handicaped people though.

Flowing joy.

By LCalkIn |

To enjoy flowing waters you need to make the short hike. Sure lots of people but stay calm and enjoy the flow of the west slope.

Not for the casual hiker

By Vacationer779409 |

I agree with the positive reviews . Very cool scenery and the falls is a steep long drop .. although not much water right now ..
The main trail is very user friendly and appropriate for 90 plus percent of the people we saw there .
The primitive trail is a whole different animal ! It is not for kids , and really only for good , fit climbers .. we are 65 yrs old , but quite capable and this was a strong challenge going up … way too slick to go down over roots , rocks , scree ,etc …
Very tricky at the top , and then you have to cross over the stream ..
It is fun , but be prepared with great hiking shoes and climbing poles ..

Very nice!

By claire m |

Beautiful waterfall! If u have the time and re driving by this is a very nice waterfall with a moderate but steep hike to the viewing area of the waterfall. Can be a little crowded in July but well worth the effort and time.

Unexpected find!

By Sue L |

We love, love, love waterfalls. On a bucket list trip, we were driving on Wolf Creek Pass, saw a pulloff with a good number of cars and stopped to see what was going on....it was a waterfall! How exciting! Definitely wasn't expecting to see one along our drive. We looked at the falls near the parking area since my husband's knee was hurting and he couldn't hike it. It was still beautiful even from that vantage point. A definite well worth stop.

Stunning

By Paul H |

Short drive from town on 160 East. Very crowded but a must see.
Short hike up a switchback trail, about 15 minutes. A do not miss in my mind.

Hiking to Treasure Falls

By MorganT76 |

Beautiful view, easy hike for young children. Great place to take pictures, there is also a look out spot of the surrounding mountains. A must do while you are visiting Pagosa Springs, CO.

Primitive trail is dangerous

By Deanne V |

These falls are absolutely gorgeous and definitely worth seeing. There are two trails - one is paved and good for families. We opted for the primitive trail and it is extremely primitive- it’s like a double black Diamond compared to the other trail! Be careful as the ascent is difficult and at times, you are practically bear crawling up it! We took the mountain face straight down to the falls and it was downright dangerous at times. We safely made it but I only recommend it to extreme risk takers! Glad we weren’t hurt.

Wow!

By Chuck348 |

We hiked up to the frozen falls after enjoying the Hot Springs. Pagoda Springs is such an amazing area! In less than a half hour from the Springs, we were on the trail. Other than the trail being a bit slippery coming down, it was very manageable. It felt like a mile round trip, if that. Worth it.

Beautiful but Busy

By Melissa D |

We arrived mid morning and were able to find a parking spot easily. The trail was well kept and easy to maneuver, even with two dogs. We passed several people coming down and arrived at the falls within a short amount of time. There were people everywhere so definitely a popular destination. Unfortunately some unsupervised teens were throwing large boulders from higher up into the pool of water and a teenager decided to ride a mountain bike into the pool nearly plowing into our ten year old. We didn't stay long as it was so crowded. The view from the falls was beautiful though and although the falls weren't pouring water at this time of year, it was worth the drive and short hike.

worth the drive

By SinCityBob |

awesome!! well worth the time to visit this act of nature...most people never get to experience such grandeur

Really pretty waterfall

By Sara F |

Although the trail was steep, it wasn't very long, only a quarter of a mile and a really nice picture moment at the top.

So beautiful & right on the freeway!

By ChristineM1972 |

Treasure Falls is literally right off of 160, just NE of Pagosa Springs. As we were heading that way, we decided to stop and check it out. They have a HUGE parking area right off the freeway that easily fit our RV. We walked down the trail to the waterfalls. Easy in, easy out, and absolutely worth stopping and seeing.

Nice hike

By mrst44 |

Not much water running in August, just little falls. Would be much better viewing earlier in the year. Not a bad hike, pretty scenery.

Long winter, snow melting

By S5891GXheidib |

Nice place to stop and snap a photo of the Wolf Creek area and waterfall. The water began several feet up and fell to the snow covered ground. Water was then snaking through several trees to go underground. No hiking path was visible due to the thick snow but this stop was easy because it was before the high elevation of the summit pass.

This is a must.

We were driving into Pagosa and drove past this and just had to turn around and see it. We did the short hike and it is absolutely worth every minute. It is even a great view from the parking lot but almost the whole family can easily make the trail. We saw people of all ages on the trail.

Nice scenery

By constrictor27 |

Had a fun like with the grandkids! Easy trail just don’t take the short cuts in the rain if your balance isn’t too good.

Beautiful

By jdrosty |

You can see the falls from a distance from the observation area. There are two paths available to see them more closely. We chose to take the "primitive" path on the way to the falls, (right side from the parking lot). and the groomed trail on the way back (left side from the parking lot). The primitive path is a little more challenging, but our group (me, husband and 12 y/o daughter) had no trouble at all, and my daughter actually found it quite fun. The groomed path would be much more manageable for anyone with mobility issues, or very young children. Both paths form a "loop", which ends at a bridge area right near the falls, which is really beautiful. There is an additional observation very close to the falls up from the bridge area. However, the water was quite heavy and forceful the day we went, and anyone who went up that far....got soaked!!

If you have a spare 1/2 hour-hour, and are in the area....you should check out Treasure Falls. The hike was short, not too difficult, and really beautiful!

Beautiful

By 445armanda |

This was a great experience, walk to top of waterfall was pretty easy, the waterfall was beautiful, had a great time.

Great view

By 1806anthonyc |

There is a pathway that goes up close to the falls and you can get good pictures there. It is kind of steep but there are places that you can rest on the way up and down. It is worth the climb.

A wonderful stop during our long drive!

By MomandDadofFourGirls |

Definitely worth the hike. I will say the hike was a little more than I expected. My special needs daughter and her grandparents did not even attempt the hike. Actually Grammie (72 years old) attempted and returned back to the truck. She is in pretty good shape. My teenage girls were gone with their eight year old cousin coming behind them.

We are from Texas, and I do believe we were not quite ready for the altitude difference.

It is not wheel chair or walker accessible. There is a scenic area that is wheelchair accessible on the ground level.

It is a dirt hiking path.

Overall the path is very stable and weaves back and forth to decrease the slope up to the falls.

We enjoyed the views and taking pictures of the scenery.

We recommend stopping to view Treasure Falls. They are right off the highway.

Worth the short uphill walk

By MamaTim |

Beautiful scenery and sounds. Still a lot of ice surrounding the falls made it even prettier. Was not very crowded when we were there late morning mid April.

Not Much of a Waterfall

By MichaelLong1963 |

We visited here at the end of August and there wasn't much water flow so the water fall was disappointing but the hike was still fun. It was about a 1-mile hike roundtrip but if you're not used to the altitude then it can be challenging since your hike is going up a hill. The parking at this location can be challenging too because there isn't much parking available. A round trip hike to get to the base of the falls takes about 45 minutes.

I think I've driven by here during March and the water flow was much greater. This area does offer some great photo opportunities.

Evening Walk

By Bonnie B |

First, this is not a hike but more like a leisurely walk in a park, a beautiful park. I took my three kids and our goldendoodle with me. I read a few other reviews about the trail being really busy and crowded and every time I drove by during the day it was packed. I opted to go later in the evening right before sunset and we had plenty of time to walk the trail, even with my younger kids (5,6,7) and the trail was completely empty. The views were epic during this time and we were literally the only family there which made it even more special. We got to the falls and back with plenty of day light to spare and the weather was perfect.

Gorgeous! Dogs on leash allowed!

By Sara T |

There is a brief hike to the bridge at the bottom of the falls. They really are amazing. Dogs on leash allowed. From the bridge, another brief hike to get closer to the falls. The second hike is a bit steeper. If you don’t want to brave the second hike, you can see all you need to from the bridge.

Quick drive and short hike

By kyboggs |

A beautiful scenic drive to Treasure Falls! The hike was 1/4 mile and was kind of steep, but trail is well maintained. Not very powerful, but a pretty view.

It's an easy hike for all

By Colleen Thorp D |

A welcome stop on a roadtrip up over the continental divide, a beautiful family hike/stroll and beautiful in the winter when frozen!

Quick hike

By Rita G |

Right off the highway and a short hike up. There wasn’t much water during August but a good little hike for all ages.

Beautiful Waterfall

By StephBow |

Worth the half mile hike. Very easy unless you go up the primitive trail which was challenging. Unfortunately there were a lot of people to navigate around during COVID. There was a lookout area just up the road that was actually much better with wonderful views.

Easy walk to the falls, beautiful!

By Judy C |

Just a short drive from Pagosa Springs we found this beautiful place. The falls were frozen and just stunning! You can see them from the parking lot, but it's worth a fairly easy short hike for a closer look. We love waterfalls!

Lovely Falls with a short, easy-to-hike trail...plus, it's just off the highway & FREE!!

By PhlegmMaster |

My brothers and I stopped here for a quick hike and view of the Falls. Totally gorgeous surroundings, especially with all the autumn colors of the leaves!

Little water this time of year

By Ed B |

Due to the lack of snowfall, the falls were more of a trickle. Spring time I’m sure is a whole lot better. The hike is fairly easy that anybody can do, but senior citizens should plan on stopping once or twice to rest.

beautiful

By Felicia T |

easy access from main highway. Falls were lovely and uncrowded. Saw chipmunks. Falls viewable from parking lot without hike.

Excellent scenery

By Andrea R |

Even though the water fall was not flowing very well, it was very scenic. The hike was challenging but we made it up to the top.

Great family experience

By James K |

Short, but steep hike to a beautiful falls. A nice, short adventure on a pleasant sunny day. There are two trails to the falls. Be sure to take the "Main Trail" which is better kept and far easier than the "primitive" trail, which is not keep up and difficult to go up. We did return from the falls on the primitive trail, and it was difficult even coming down.

Short steep climb to beautiful falls,

By fritz_nelius59 |

The average person can make this climb but expect steady climb upward. Just off the highway between Pagosa Springs and Wolf Creek Pass. A number of people doing hike but not enough to say it was to many. Take bottle of water and go for it!

So beautiful!!!!

By 327elizabethv |

Traveled about 15 miles towards Wolf Creek. Wow! So worth it. The trail is rated Easy, and it was. It’s about 1/2 mile up. The falls are so beautiful. Parking was easy (plenty of parking and parking across the highway). Three ways to observe the fall. There is a handicap overlook. Doesn’t require getting on a trail. There is the Easy trail, that leads to a bridge to give a full view of the falls, and if you continue up, you get right up close to the falls. SO worth the 15 minute drive from Pagosa Springs.

Great family hike

By kristin b |

Short easy family hike with beautiful swimming hole at the end. Less than 20 miles from downtown Pagosa.

gonna get wet at the end

By LMroadtripper |

Very short walk to a nice, straight falls. Nice way to stretch the legs, with the slight drama of spray at the end.

Perfect day!

By Gina M |

I took my children ages 7 and 9, the hiking trail was safe and clean for them. It was maybe half a mile round trip. That takes you to a safe and sturdy bridge directly in front of the waterfall. Beautiful spot for pics! There is also a bench right next to the water. They do offer a more intense hike if your up for it!

Falls were more like a trickle

By Frankie M |

Not sure if the falls normally run more or if it is just dry this year. Park in the left side of the parking lot for the easier trail.

Worth while hike up the falls.

By Chris T |

Beautiful view. Many things to look at along the way. Best thing of all it’s free. Must do in Pagosa. In a place where little is free it is nice to have something of such great value be free.

Awesome Hiking Trail for the whole Family!

By Andy_Marines |

This was a excellent hiking experience for the whole family, with breathtaking views of mountains, waterfalls and nature. I truly enjoyed the experience of visiting Treasure Falls and recommend everyone who visits Pagosa Springs to make some time to visit :)

Do It - Worth the Effort!

By S.S. |

Worth the walk (albeit uphill). Be careful though, the safe trail is on the left side of the bridge from the parking lot (NOT the Primitive one on the right side). We went up with our grand-kids (ages 9 and 12) and made it up to base of the fall in less than 30 minutes. Highly recommended. Pretty from the highway and parking lot. Better up close and personal.

Short Hike

By missmartha |

This is a short hike to the base of the falls, about 1/2 mile, you can also see it from the parking lot.

A wonderful falls to just relax and watch... and maybe get slightly damp.

By Williejim07 |

Stopped at Treasure Falls on the way up to the Continental Divide. We weren't able to hike all the way in due to some trees had fallen across the trail. But that was ok since the site and the surroundings were beautiful.

Perfect trail for kids

By ryangelathomas |

Our kids are 6 and 4. This was perfect for them to see the scenery and wasn’t too hard for them. The waterfall was really neat!! And cold!!! Very nice trail!!

Still pretty in August

By Nanatimes8 |

Not much water coming down these falls in August, but we were still glad to go see them. This is a popular spot, a short hike uphill. We went in the morning and had the trail to ourselves. Lovely woods, easy switch-back trail makes the steepness manageable, pretty photo-spots at the top.

Easy, Fantastic falls to view

By tkakers |

Love these falls, easily accessible directly off the road, you can even see the top from the road. There are two spots to view the falls, the bridge and the bottom of the falls - should do both, the views are amazing! Of all the falls these were the easiest to access and climb. It is steep but plenty of places to rest along the way.

Easy hike with great views!

By Kristen B |

Close to town and easy hike with our 4 year old and 8 year old sons. There wasn't much water left in August, but our sons had fun "swimming" at the bottom of the waterfall anyway.

Good place to stop

By Richard B |

This is a popular place to stop and look at Treasure Falls. To the left of the parking lot is a trail climbing an overlook near the top of the falls. The best time to see the falls is during spring snow melt. A couple miles up US HWY 160 is a view point looking down the San Juan valley and with luck seeing Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep on the slopes above the parking lot.

Beautiful hike up

By DoroH4 |

There are two hikes up, easy and hard. I hiked the hard one because it is a trail that is not paved and no one else was on it.

Stunning, Even When Frozen

By Suni W |

The drive up was only 15 miles from downtown Pagosa Springs. Gorgeous view even from the base. My husband ventured up a bit on the snow-covered path but came back quickly once he felt an animal crunching through the snow and breathing heavily 😄! I’m sure it would be worth the hike up in the Spring!

Gold in treasure falls?

By Jacquelynn C |

Read up on the history of the falls before you go. It is a pleasant walk most of the family can make , is a nice scenic spot to break up the afternoon. Very accessible just north of Pagosa on the way to Wolfe Creek.

Worth a visit

By Linda S |

Beautiful waterfall with scenic views from the road. A short, brisk hike will have you front and center for breathtaking photos. The walkway is fairly easy, but physically challenged folks will want to either view from below or take extreme caution.

Perfect for small kids

By Estee S |

We did this hike with our small kids , 10,7&3 and it worked! A little scary at times but really pretty at the top by the waterfall. On the way between Pagosa Springs and buena vista co.

Must do

By leopard603 |

I only gave a 4 through no fault of this beauty. It was just too cold for water. We did see where the water should have been but all snow covered. Which was equally as beautiful.

Great Falls!

By Debra T |

Easy hike up the mountain to see the beautiful falls up close and personal. A beautiful must see right off the highway!

Fun time on a hike

By ramonjtexan |

Went hiking with the family and young kids. They loved it and so did all the adults. There is an easy and hard hike. Both are enjoyable and the falls is beautiful and totally available for hikes.

Relaxing place to visit

By Vi B |

Great place to visit & relax. Good places to eat and beautiful places for photos. Nearby areas for hikes and nature walks, also golf course is in town. Downtown area has many shops & even some antique stores.

Kid-friendly

By Julia L |

Easy and exciting for our preschooler to do with us. We’ve done this trail both times on our trip and it is always a beautiful sight.

Breathtaking Scenery

By Dr_Xaos |

Stopped by with wife and daughters to check out the waterfall. You could see the waterfall from an observation point right off the parking area, but we decided to hike the trail(s) up to the waterfall itself. Wife and teenager took the difficult trail (i.e., the right-hand side), and younger daughter and I took the easier trail (i.e., left-hand side).

Waterfall is attractive to see, but we’ve seen other waterfalls that we more scenic and/or impressive looking. Plus, while you can get a closer look by hiking up the trail, the view from the bridge isn’t much more remarkable than the parking lot. For those with mobility difficulties, I wouldn't necessary recommend taking the trail up.

Hiking???

By Lu Baillie |

If you're not totally in love in with hiking, then I would highly recommend this short easy stroll up the mountain and back again. It's just right for everyone. I always take my visitors here. It's a beautiful location!

The hiding trail

By NISSIM S |

The water fall are amazing, the way to the water fall is little bumpy be prepared that you lose the internet connection however the rode is very simple . I believe that the best time to see the place is at end of August.

Visit

By Michael K |

Drove to this place to see the waterfalls and hike to the top. Easy hiking trail as long as you'r in average shape. Waterfalls are fun to see along with taking some nice pictures. Viewing area is right off the highway so it's easy to get to. The sounds of the waterfalls are really something to listen to and record if you use your video recorder on your phone. We ended up getting some very nice photos of the falls.

Nothing special.

By Kent M |

Ok but not worth the drive just for it. Trail was blocked due to snow. Would be muddy for quite a while.

Tourists in the mist

By Paul S |

Treasure Falls can be seen from the road, but it is much better (especially for the driver, who should be watching the road) to pull over and hike to the falls. Just be careful pulling back out onto the highway. There are always people who think they know a better way to get somewhere than the people who built the path, or think they can get a better view. However, making your own trails causes erosion, usually takes longer, and is more difficult than the designated route, That is the case here. Stay to the left to avoid a lot of wasted effort and frustration. Even on the left, put the baby in the backpack as this is no place for strollers or wheelchairs.

Nice paved hike

By RupertRose |

Paved path, but can be steep and icy. Wear good shoes. BEAUTIFUL once you get to the top. I recommend stopping. It only takes a few minutes.

Wonderful view of amazing falls.

By Sandra Gee |

This fantastic view is right off US 160 with plenty of parking. Trail is a little challenging for a senior but slow gets you there and view is spectacular and worth the effort.

Nice hike up to the waterfall!!

By Voyager16572606651 |

We went toward the end of summer so the water fall had less water. I can see that it’s lovely when flowing nicely. The hike was great!

Icy Gorgeous View

By KEP12538 |

We were waterfalls hunting and despite not being able to enter the correct end of the parking lot, there wasn’t much snowpack to drive over from the other end making our stop possible.
The steps to the left of the fall were manageable as many had traversed before us but the right route was typical winter style—snow and ice!
Beautiful in March, as the fall springs to life from the beginning snowmelt...

Great way to stretch legs!

By Gasolinebutt |

A park ranger told us about this water fall and I'm glad he did! It was stunning! It was easy to find and the trail is well maintained. It took about 20 mins and there is a bridge that gives you a great view of the falls.

Picturesque Falls

By sdbehrens |

The trails were closed but we got an excellent view from highway 160. There is a small parking lot right next to the falls that offers a great view. We also saw a couple of chipmunks that were enjoying the view as well.

Great walk and falls

By akoobra |

Well Worth the stop. Beautiful area the climb can be a bit rough if you take the back way but very picturesque

Frozen but beautiful

By yankeedad69 |

The falls were frozen but were still beautiful to see. A small trail on either side can lead to the top but we didn’t venture to far due to ice. Would love to come back during spring time.

Beautiful Waterfall, easy to see from the parking or you can hike to the falls

By Tanya F |

What a beautiful stop on our trip. We went up in April and it was still cold but the snow and ice had mostly melted and the falls were flowing really well. You can see the falls in all of it's beauty just from the parking area. There is also a easy trail and a primitive trail that is a little tougher going up either side of the falls. If you get the chance even though it's a bit steep try to hike up the easier trail just to get to see the falls a little bit closer. I can imagine that on a hot day the spray from the falls would be a fabulous way to cool off.

Fairly difficult hike, but well worth it

By Nucorfrank |

It snowed last night so the "primitive trail" which is the one we took was a little challenge for me, I am pushing 60, and my wife and 2 girls did not make it all the way, but I managed as did my two sons. Beautiful fall, surrounded by snow and ice.

Worth the drive

By Jasl W |

Piedra Falls is about an hour north of Pagosa into the San Juan National Forest. Mostly dirt road and often narrow or 1-way. We were safely able to drive our sedan up there but would anticipate a need for 4-wheel drive or a sturdier vehicle if the weather had been snowy or rainy. It was hunting season so we had to watch for trucks along the way. Many curves, so no visibility at times. Definitely worth the drive though; an hour of wonder! Once you get to the top, it’s only a half mile of light incline to walk to the falls; the river is also by the parking area so even if you can’t hike, it’s a wonderful place to look around. Be sure to wear shoes/boots made for hiking as there were snowy/muddy spots. Otherwise a nice fairly easy hike and beautiful especially this time of year with the water/ice formations into the river.

A GEM…

By jdcontreras23 |

This hike was absolute gem. Right outside the city with a beautiful drive. The hike was short but worth it for sure. Enjoy.

So Beautiful!!

By Mary Jo D |

We stopped here on our way back from Pagosa Springs to Colorado Springs. What a beautful waterfall and area this is. Go!!!!

Nice falls 1/4 mile hike even ok for amateurs and us old folks

By Carla A |

Nice falls, quick short hike. Go early morning in the summer to beat the heat and crowds. Be careful to choose the main path unless you have good shoes and hiking experience. Not good for kids or flip flops. Main path is to left. And don't be a jerk and çlimb where you aren't supposes to. People are eroding the area

Its ok.

By Ramil |

The waterfalls are next to a highway. Not the most impressive ones I have seen, but if you have not seen one in a while, worth visiting.

Short scenic hike

By reid2472017 |

TF was a short little hike with some degree of difficulty to the base of a very beautiful waterfall. Prepare to get wet if you want to get real close. It was fun and the falls are spectacular. I went in May so they were very active with snow melt.

Beautiful falls if the timing of your stop is right!

By Jim B |

On September 12 my wife and I were heading toward Durango and thought we’d stop at Treasure Falls along the way as the reviews sounded impressive. Without a doubt in the spring of the year when the water table is up how much everywhere that falls would be absolutely beautiful. For us that wasn’t the case as the flow coming over the top of the falls was more like a full rain spout of water flowing over the top and cascading into the pool below in the upper section of the falls.

Nice road side stop, not too challenging if dry

By MudsMeatPies |

Nice roadside stop with some pretty views right after crossing Wolf Creek pass. Be careful getting in and out of your car here. Worth the stop for 20 mins.

Easy hike for great view

By Regina F |

The falls are not hard to get to as the trail is well maintained and not difficult. Walking stick may help those that need a boost to walk uphill. I took a few breaks myself as climbing at higher elevation can be hard. Well worth the short hike. We went on a weekend in afternoon and not too busy. Some people had masks on, but not many. Easy to social distance during the time we were there.

Great falls you can see well with out leaving parking lot

By Mountainman827 |

Quicke stop to see falls from the parking lot right by the road. You can also take the easy or hard trail to the falls .6 miles round trip.

Beautiful six mile hike, Intermediate/Advanced Level

By Joe H |

Bring plenty of water and not suited for kids under 8, lots of strenuous uphills that will get your heart rate up. Path is well marked, views were spectacular, especially in the big meadow (you'll know what I mean) and high cliffs. Waterfall was unfortunately weak when we visited in Aug, best in June.

Beautiful Colorado Trail

By Anne O |

This is a beautiful hiking trail just over the Continental Divide. It's a good workout, but short enough. The waterfall was a bit dry, but the rocks and trees make the hike worth it. The trail is dog friendly, too.

Worth the stop

By Matthew M |

Beautiful waterfall. Very short hike and worth the stop. There are 2 trails..1 is very easy. The other trail was icy when we were there so we did not take that route. There is an overlook trail as well and this offers some great views.

Average

By Michael H |

Short hike to average waterfall. We took the "primitive" trail up, which was a bit challenging and the improved trail down.

Treasure Falls - ineed a treasure

By LANCE O |

a short drive northeast of Pagosa Springs on U.S. Highway 160, the quite popular Treasure Falls is certainly a must see !!! There is a fairly sizable pull out parking area, and the place is very busy with sight-seers. There are 2 trails up to the falls viewpoint: the trail to the left is fairly well developed, however it is a bit steep and has a number of switch-backs...but it is not that long, maybe 3 tenths of a mile. The trail to the right is apparently more primitive and is quite a bit longer. Anyways, we took the trail to the left, and even though it was quite busy with foot traffic, once we reached the falls was worth it !!! Fairly tall, with quite a bit of water, a nice side trip that doesn't take too much time at all...perhaps about an hour total...but you could take more time if you did the complete round trip to go up on the left trail and come back down on the right trail. Enjoy !!!

Just do it!

By Bryan L |

Nice little hike up to falls. Easy uphill hike 1/4 mile with switchbacks. Nice bench to relax on at the bottom, go up further to the misty point and cool off. Nice place to make a stop!

Nice little hike to see frozen waterfall

By mikeS7619 |

I did not plan to stop and did not even know about it but it was well worth the visit. I saw the sign along the side of the road on my way to do some off roading so stopped and decided to do the hike. The trail was clearly marked but had some icy patches. The view of the falls at the top was impressive.

Treasure falls

By dana2013ballwin |

We chose the easier hike just because we weren’t sure what we were getting into. The scenery was amazing and the hike was short but fun and well worth it

Great hike!

By tommysaxboy |

This was a great hike! The falls were in full force! It's a little steep in places and since this is April, we had a little bit of snow to get across, but it was well worth it! Highly recommend it!

Great Family Hike

By TravelsWithKylie |

Easy to access. There are two trails, steep and main. We took the steep up, and the main trail back, with a 4 yo, and a 1 yo in a baby carrier. We saw a family take the main trail with a jogging stroller; the main trail is wide and easy.
There is a little pool at the bottom of the falls which is nice for the kids to splash around in, if wearing suitable shoes.
Definitely worth the stop.

Doable Fun

By Troy H |

Great little hike. Very beautiful vista of the valley and real pretty falls. Fairly good hike but able to do even for us low landers. You will need to rest 2-3 times. Only wish there were some bathrooms.

5 minute stop nice

By sackmeister |

Stop by side of the road. Nice falls. Can take a hike closer if you want to spend more time. Easy and harder trails; I would have picked easy.

Beautiful Little Waterfall

By Chelsey H |

Short steep(ish) hike. You're able to hike right up to the base of the falls and get a nice cool mist on a hot summer day.

Pretty stop!

By Linda B |

Stopped on way into Pagosa Springs. Satisfied my love of waterfalls. Easy access and has walking path to top.

Beautiful View

By 5stringqueen |

The hike to Treasure Falls isn't bad and it's short. There are two trails to get there. We took 'the road less traveled'. The falls are lovely to see. There is parking there, but not sure about restrooms. Our daughter is 9 and she had no trouble hiking with us.

Beautiful views!!!

By Banana427 |

Such a beautiful waterfall! Easy hike on the left of the falls and more advanced on the right side. It truly was beautiful!

Beautiful waterfall

By Nicco L |

This was a fun and short hike to see the most beautiful waterfall. There is a little bridge in front of the waterfall so you can get a really good view. You can get very close to the waterfall. The hike was about a half mile of switchbacks with an incline. My 75 year-old mother hiked it just fine. A definite to do.

Easy access to falls

By mountainmom5 |

This waterfall is easy to find, right off Hwy 160. You get a view from the parking lot and there's a short hike up to the base of the falls. Kids were swimming in the pool at the base. In August it was shallow and safe but the water was cold.

Beautiful, easy hike

By Lauren |

Very easy to reach the trailhead, it is literally off the highway. We arrived about 10 on a weekday morning and there were only a few cars there. We took the main trail and its a steady incline, but is a wide flat path. There were two spots where we kept ahold of our daughter. The falls are magnificent and there are also great views over the valley.
