They close kinda early, wouldn't be bad if they stayed open till around 7-8. Really awesome displays of WWII, Korean, Vietnam.
Planes, Choppers, and tanks as well as the battleship and sub.

Great exhibits and the volunteers are nice and knowledgeable. Ship was really interesting and so was the submarine. There are many static airplane displays that are also fun to see.

This is a must see! The battleship is AMAZING! We couldn't imagine being in this for so long a period as the sailors were. It is HUGE so it takes a while to go through it all. The stairs are steep in the boat so be careful. I can't imagine how the sailors ran through this ship when trouble arose. It is well worth the money. I would say that very young kids would not find it interesting & you will really need to keep up with them because it's so easy to get lost & turned around. There is a dock you can walk out on & take a picture of the whole ship overall. There are also airplanes, tanks & other interesting things in the park area. There is a big submarine but we passed on that because I am claustrophobic.

The entire park with all the military vehicles and aircraft is amazing. The self-guiding tour of the battleship takes you all over and allows you to explore at your own pace. The battleship is impressive from all angles.

Definitely worth a visit. Went during Covid so there were not too many people. The ship saw action in the Atlantic and the Pacific. Iowa class battleship. Several aircraft are also included in the museum and well as a WW II submarine that we enjoyed walking through.

Parking $5.00 and the price for seniors $15.00 (55 yrs and older - non military). The views are amazing and the history is even more amazing. Wear comfy shoes. Had a wonderful time on the different decks, wheelchair accessible only on main deck. I enjoyed the history and all the amenities a battleship also had to offer for the crew. The stimulator was neat @ $7.00 Did not walk all thru the outside because it was a bit windy out nor did I take alot out pictures, looking and reading alot.

I highly recommend the USS Alabama self guided tour! There are 3 tours within the ship itself. Plan at least 3 hours if you want to read most of the signs.
We began in the aviation hangar, then into the USS Drum submarine. The information provided during this portion was good but I would consider these bonus as the battleship is worth the admission.
We started with the yellow, then the green and finally the red tour. Be advised that there are many ladders you need to ascend and descend to complete all 3 portions (colors) of the tour. The history and information is amazing and well worth the 3 plus hours we spent inside the Battleship.

This is an excellent military park. There are several attractions, so I suggest starting with the sub, looking at the planes, and then checking out the USS Alabama. Don’t forget your AAA card for a discount on your ticket. We spend about 2 hours here - we explored almost everything, but didn’t have time in our travel day to read all there was to learn.
The sub was interesting and reminded me of the respect I have for those who live in such confined spaces and under stressful conditions! There was a patrol boat next to the sub, and a small memorial under repair.
The airplane hangar has a variety of planes along with writing about their history. I enjoyed the personal stories included. I was shocked to see the photos of the hangar after Hurricane Katrina! I wondered if the boats (displayed on land) also were disturbed or moved.
Lastly, I have been on Battleships before, but NEVER of this size or with such an in depth walk through. The volunteers and staff are very helpful, so be sure to visit the Battleship’s reception/museum/restroom area to get acquainted and to hear how to process with your guided tour. If you are able to climb ship type ladder stairs, you will be shocked at how many levels you get to explore! If you can only safely tour the main deck, you still won’t be disappointed! The 16” guns are massive and intimidating to imagine firing.

Seeing a Warship of this size with the history it has cannot be adequately described with words. It needs to be seen to be believed, and toured properly from bow to stern, and make sure you climb up as many of the decks as you can. It's unbelievable how many guns are actually on the ship. Needs to be seen more than once, and with all the other exhibits on site, you will never be bored. We especially enjoyed the F-18 simulator!

It was an amazing piece of history to share with my kiddos. We loved seeing the inside of the ship. The day we went it there was a kite celebration right out front. The exhibits fill your heart with history.

Came to attend a rugby tournament bring held on premises. Parking was $5 to enter the grounds. Front gate attendant (older female) tried charging me $30 just to park for the rugby event. Her reason was my 20ft Mercedes sprinter van had "rv style attachments" on the sides. I said I'm just going to the sports event and have no need for RV hookups and such. She proceeded to be difficult and did not understand the situation, even calling security on me at one point because apparently she has an inability to problem solve and create solutions to simple issues. After finding a place myself off site, security just said pay 5 and call it good. Wasting almost 2 hrs of my time dealing with this, when a simple decision by someone not emotionally unstable, would have made a much better experience.

This was definitely worth a couple hours of time and you could spend much longer. Need to be able to climp stairs and ladders to really tour the battleship and submarine. Exhibits all in very good condition.

Since I like history, I thought that I might enjoy touring the USS Alabama. My presumption is that there would be a few areas of the ship to see, and it would take an hour or so. However, viewing the ship (especially the lower levels) was so captivating that I spent more than 3 hours. I was amazed by how much of the ship could be viewed. The tour tags helped acclimate visitors to the site and made it clear what was being viewed. It is worth the admission fee. Highly recommend!

We almost didn't put the USS Alabama on our itinerary. After all, this battleship is sort of yesterday's news and both my husband and I have toured military ships before. But for some reason, I allotted two hours for this stop, anyway.
Oh, my, how I wish we had spent a half day or more there. The placards at each station contain a great deal of information and it was fascinating to us. This was by far the best explanation I've seen on a Navy ship, to teach the non-military general public about all the jobs and equipment on the ship, as well as what life was like for the sailors who were deployed there.
Fair disclosure: my husband and I are the weird people who go into a museum and read everything on every display. By the time our two hours was up aboard the USS Alabama and we had to move on down the highway, we had covered only 1/3 of the ship tour. Maybe someday, we'll be able to return.

The 3 self guided tours through the battleship was so detailed. We have toured many naval vessels and this one allowed us to go places where others have not. The information said it would take 1-2 hours but we spent 4 hours there and had to rush at the end. Also, it is silly for the gift shop to close an hour before the park closes. They should stay open an hour after the park closes because no one wants to shop before and have to carry their souvenirs while they explore the ship.

This attraction is a must see if you are near Mobile. The battleship was great by itself, but there are some planes and a submarine to see as well. You can walk through the whole battleship and submarine, so full of history and it is so cool to see the technology and conditions our service members lived during WWII. Friendly and knowledgeable staff onsite to ask questions. If you are a movie buff, there was a movie and some TV shows filmed at this battleship.

Wonderful museum to look at different aviation and ship military vehicles. I learned a lot about the USS ALABAMA and got to see the inside of a war ship and submarine. Would highly recommend!

For $15.... wow. This exhibit is amazing! We have been on several naval museums and have never been able to access as much as we could access on this ship. The mechanical engineers and naval architects who designed these and the sailors who served had to be extraordinary! Very well kept up ship! The airplanes and tanks were great and the submarine was a real treat to. You have got to visit!

Touring this ship is like touring a small city! But when you consider all it's functions it truly is a small city! Not only was it built for battle, but to house, sleep, feed the sailors on board. They needed medical care, haircuts, clothes cleaned, food to eat, and entertainment. The ship is split up into three color tours - red, green and yellow. It starts off with a wonderful video of World War II veterans returning to their home-away-from-home ship and talking about their duties, sometimes even demonstrating where their station was and what they did. The stairs from level to level are quite steep, almost like a ladder, so I found it easier to walk down them backwards, and I noticed other women doing the same thing. Watch your step, as some of the doorways are quite high to step over. The displays of the butcher shop, bakery, scullery and other spaces gave a sense of the incredible amount of supplies it took to keep the men fed - and that's only one aspect of the daily requirements for a ship and crew of this size.

There is so much to see and learn here. We did not budget enough time to see everything but we did tour the submarine and the battleship. There are also planes, helicopters, and other vehicles in the hanger area. Be sure to wear your walking and climbing shoes...there are a lot of stairs to go up and down.

I came for the battleship, but there's a lot more to see than just the battleship. Still, the USS Alabama will consume at least a couple of hours of your time as you pore over the ship. Many deck levels to explore. Fascinating. And there's a submarine to check out. Also there are several aircraft to see, like planes from previous decades, including an older version of the B-25. So much to absorb. Exciting. Self guided tours. Good for singles, couples, small groups, families with kids.

The people at the park were very friendly. The tours are self guided but there are enough staff around so you won't get lost. You can spend as much time as you want there. I had never been on a battleship and if was awesome to see up close. The Submarine had one was in and one way out. You don't realize how cramp one of those are until you have the chance to experience it yourself. They have a nice indoor hanger with lots of airplanes and even some WW1 craft as well. They had a simulator ride. We didn't do it but people seemed to enjoy it. There were more aircraft outside as well as tanks and other armored vehicles. There definitely a lot to see and the admission price is well worth it.

Love coming here. Such a beautiful place with great staff!!
Gift shop is also full of great items for all ages.

Amazing! Was by far our highlight of visiting Mobile. So much interesting history and information. The self tours was easily marked and was impressed with how much access you have to the ship. Great artifacts and background on the ship.

Visited the site on a Thursday morning in July. Spent a few hours going through the submarine and the battleship on self guided tours. Could have easily spent another few hours exploring the rest of the aircraft attractions on site but it was very hot. The inside of the sub and battleship were air conditioned which made the experience much more comfortable. My teenage children were skeptical how much they would like the experience before we got there, but they really had a good time.

Incredibly restored battleship. Tours are well laid out and easily followed. Clean, well maintained. A/C on and was tolerable in the heat of June. You are able to see a large portion of the ship. Great venue for school age kids--they seemed to be in wide eyed wonder. There is also a submarine there which you are able to tour. Also very well maintained and makes you appreciate the how very little space existed in those ships.
Traffic getting to and from Mobile is painful.

If you need a place to get out for a while this is it. Very open spaces and historical museums. We'll be back

Stopped in for an afternoon of history and photo opportunity. Clean grounds and easy access. The do charge for parking and entry separately. A little inconvenient. But the displays are exceptional. Only a few of the aircraft show signs of wear and tear from the elements, worst is the F-4 at the entry. Otherwise a great selection of armor, aircraft and of course a phenomenal Battleship! Self guided tours with plenty of staff to answer questions. Currently there is a B-25J Mitchell undergoing preservation and conversion to a B-25B to represent a Doolittle Raider. Worth the stop.

We were here a few years ago and enjoyed our tour. This time we had our three grandsons along and they LOVED it. We had a harder time climbing the steps trying to follow them. They just enjoyed every minute we spent on the ship and on the submarine. The also loved the ride inside the museum and looking at all the exhibits.

Wow! All I can say! How do the sailors even find their rooms? This is like a small city in one place. It's HUGE! The self guided tours are great. This allows you to do things at your pace. The museum is very interesting as well. We also toured the submarine and have whole new respect for submariners! Talk about close quarters. One thing we quickly noticed the aisles are very narrow so visitors need to realize when they stop and talk or tale photos---check behind you! We were held for several minutes while a visitor decided to take pics of every gauge and handle near the exit. That's it, just be aware. It's a great memorial and fascinating!

Loved the ship, but the venue didn't have any wheelchairs, so my FIL couldn't join us on the tour. For being Veteran friendly, I was shocked there weren't any wheelchairs to borrow.

I took my two boys aged 17 and 9.
The cost to get inside the park is $5, but then the price to go ON the ship was very high at $19 per person and my kids said they were fine just walking around. We saw many different vehicles for air, water, and land travel, but there is a dog kennel right next to the coast guard things and it was very distracting. The temps were low and I'd propbaly be howling and barking non-stop as well, but it was not the best place for the animals.
There were respectful memorials for all wars/conflicts and a gorgeous view of the water near one of the ships. The gift shop had had generic 'military' toys and merch, but also some nice postcards.
I'd recommend going once, but not as an annual thing.

We drove close to 1000 miles to this area and a stop at this location was very important for us as we tend to visit all similar locations to this around USA.
Fortunately we were here mid week September, so not many people around, thus visiting everything at our own leisure without being disturbed or pushed around:
- we started with the Pavilion or main museum area where there are lots of planes from different eras and also a Simulator with a very small queue
- we moved onto the submarine USS Drum, which I find equally interesting wherever they are located: San Diego, NY, Virginia etc
- there is also a Stealth place in the courtyard, where more planes are located, and the lines of this spy plane are the most amazing, if you are interested in engineering and design
- we left the battleship for the last and trust me, is very impressive although I could never go on all it's 12 decks: just like with either similar battleships, the lower decks have a very strong smell of petrol/metal which makes me sick, always wondering how the men could put up with it those decades ago (just like the strong smell you get at Sing sing in San Francisco). The upper decks are way too high, so visiting some 6 decks is more than enough, right?
- just like with the other battleships we visited, they have done an excellent job inside showing how sailors used to buy cigarettes etc onboard, the kitchen area, how they slept; even the officers did not have easier and everything leaves you rather humble for how they sacrificed their health or lives!!!!
- we exited via their shop where they had lots of 'sailor' items and noticed people were coming straight here to purchase their tickets - it was a hot day and I was grateful for avoiding the extra walk in the sun to purchase the tickets, then go back to where we started.
Typically, we tend to always buy our tickets online, print the pages with a barcode (if there is one) proving we purchased our tickets, then show them at the entrance, where they give you the tickets for the attraction - I highly recommend for you to do the same and get your discounts.

Really worth seeing. It was also interesting for teenagers. We almost liked the submarine even better than the battleship itself. Very many original parts also to touch. It was very hot in the battleship itself.

Bring you walking, climbing shoes! Very interesting if you love history! All about WWII! How the sailors lived underwater on the sub, and on the ship! Tiny quarters, tiny people, A city on and underwater! Hard to imagine our 18 year olds operating the big guns in war time but this $18 tour will show you what today’s kids cannot imagine! Great experience!

Great historical place to visit. USS Alabama, lots of planes, helicopters, tanks, etc. on display. Also some memorials for Korean War, Vietnam, and the Dogs of the Wars. Clean and easily accessible. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Mobile area.

What an amazing collection the Memorial Park has. So much to see on the Alabama up and down all the different decks. I really liked the way they divided the self guided your up into 3 different tours. The signs throughout the ship also made it very easy to find my way around. Some amazing planes both inside the pavilion and outside. Make sure you spend some time walking thru the various memorials and paying your respects to the fallen. Thank you for a wonderful day

This was a very cool visit, and there was so much to see. We visited the USS Alabama and the USS Drum. There was also an enclosed building with all types of military transportation. The USS Alabama is very large ship, and they had it marked with colored arrows.

The tour of the "boat" was unbelievable...as you walk thru the different areas and watch the different videos you think to yourself and say that generation of men and women could never be repeated! The sacrifices and time spent away from your family I just can't imagine. ..all of the technology and engineering that went into building and designing the ships and how fast they were produced is just unbelievable!!! God bless the "GREATEST GENERATION " for what we have today!

Great park to visit in Mobile, Alabama. The park has planes, helicopters, tanks, other military vehicles, a submarine and of course the USS Alabama. The park area is a cost of $ 5.00 for parking. To tour the USS Alabama its $18 for adults and $15 for seniors and military. A wonderful gift shop and an indoor area to view other military planes etc. A fabulous time.

Excellent outing to biew USS Alabama, and so much more. The displays are so reverent to soldiers who have passed, and the contributions of diverse people and military units. It is all very well done with something to interest most visitors.

We were able to go at our own pace, it was well laid out and very educational! There were several very knowledgeable volunteers available to answer questions.

The Alabama is well worth visiting and I never miss returning to it. It is a irreplaceable part of our history which deserves to be preserved for future generations and I hope that more can be done to improve its condition.

It was a sweltering hot day when my daughter and I visited. It was a really magnificent battleship to tour, and we were pleasantly surprised and thankful for the bits of cool air that we found on the ship! Definitely worth the money and a must see while in Mobile!

A great historical battleship to see up close. Self guided tour with plenty of guides on ship to give history information and direction. Definitely allow 2-3 hours to see the battleship and more time to see entire park

I was fortunate to visit the park on one of the reenactment dates. I believe they do them 6 times per year. It was great to see the actors in period attire! The "battle attack" was exciting and the crew was very involved in recreating the scene. The ship is amazing and so big! I was surprised at how large the mess hall was. Visitors get to explore every level of the battleship. In addition there are numerous aircraft to view and a real submarine. Plan to spend a couple of hours and wear comfortable shoes!

Never again will I purchase tickets. I have nothing more to say. My friends and I have never been more appalled.

Visited the USS ALABAMA 22/05/25. We are road tripping across the states on our honeymoon and this was a must visit. Firstly the cost was ridiculously cheap. Back at home in the UK the HMS Belfast battleship is around £50 per person. Today was $18 dollars each. The planes tanks and submarine was great to see and board. Not to mention they have a SR-71 ! My 3rd one I've seen 😃 then the ALABAMA was crazy huge. We spent 4 hours and had to leave as we was booked to be in New Orleans but could easily spent the whole day there. Thanks for keeping history alive

They have three great areas to visit. Each offers a self paced full tour. The battleship is super and very informative. The air museum was really exciting since I am a pilot. Many cool planes and stories. Last was the submarine, we actually didn’t even get to it cause we were worn out, but it looked very cool. There are picnic areas and several memorials that you can access after you pay only the parking pass $5. The rest is covered with a one time charge of $18 ( $3 less for military and seniors) active duty are free.

This is a self guided tour. We did all three tours without the battleship. We also looked at all the planes and vehicles inside the ticket booth area. Great experience if you’ve near toured a battleship.

This is a great place to stop in and check out. Its Got a battle ship duh, A submarine, planes and tanks galore. It a great place for family fun and lots of history and learning.

An amazing place and a must visit place when you are in Mobile. It is an aircraft, tanks and ships museum which include the South Dakota-class battleship USS Alabama and Gato-class submarine USS Drum. You can enter the last 2.
There is even president Reagan’s helicopter. There is a good paid parking, many restrooms and a shop. Definitely worth visiting!

The views were amazing and took lots of photos. The sandwich at the restaurant was incredible and very friendly staff. Museum is vast and filled with amazing crafts.

We had a great afternoon here, and learnt a lot about the war at sea during WWII. I also learnt that the Alabama fought alongside HMS Belfast (my go to place when in London). If you have the chance, talk to one of the many volunteers onboard as they have stories of their own to tell that add depth to the experience. From talking to Mike, we learned of the Living History Day in December, and will be making our return trip then.
This is a trip the whole family can enjoy, and there were many children there when we visited.
We really should have got there earlier in the day and, because we missed so much, we are going to be making a return visit.
Included in the reasonable ticket price is the USS Drum (submarine), the aviation hangar, the USS Alabama and various, worth watching, video reels.
Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as there are many ladders to climb, and walking on the steel decks is really not conducive to fancy shoes. Also not really a place to dress to impress, as it can get extremely warm below decks and very confined in places.

We went with a group of 5 and we paid for only two people and with parking, tickets and water, it was over $55 JUST for us. The selfguided tour is confusing. A tourist trap, old and run down, and not patriotic. Really a shame.

Took my 7 year old son for a visit on the 24th for his birthday. The ship and sub are great to visit and a lot of history . One thing to watch is I had a coupon for 2.00 off adult. Kim charged me for two adults at 13.00 each. Well kids are only 6 bucks . So as I was walking away I looked at the reciept, and I went back and stated she had charged me for two adults, and not one adult amd one child, then what totally surprised me she said, "well thats what I was just telling her, that whenever its not correct you wait untill you have walked away then come back". Well isnt this your job to charge me correct, and not fuss when your called out? Just be careful what they charge and enjoy your visit.

Husband and I went on a very hot day. Air and fans in most areas.
We toured the submarine first. Tight quarters but cool to see.
Battleship has 3 different ways to tour it so follow the colors. We did all of them.
Amazing what was provided on this ship!! Lots of history to read on placards. We spoke with a veteran who was kind of like a docent.
Made a gift shop purchase of a Xmas ornament. We like to reminisce about places we have visited while putting up the tree.
Carry water with you and wear proper footing. Lots of stairs to get between floors and steep ones.

I stopped in here knowing I wanted to see the battleship, but I had no idea that this could be a full day activity. You can easily spend 2-3 hours touring the battleship and going through all three self-guided tours (red, green, yellow). Having the place dressed accurately for the WWII period is just the extra touch. Seeing the old school wrappers on snacks and staples was a great surprise. Getting to go through all the levels and seeing everything from the engine room all the way up to the bridge was also great. I found myself fascinated by funky little things I hadn't thought about - having a floating city of 2500 means you need tailors, athletic gear, pharmacy, movies, etc. Be aware the stairs are narrow and steep if you have any issues with mobility. The battleship is just part of the show. You can tour a submarine or check out various military aircraft inside and outside. Really a park that has so much to check out.

Great self guided tour, very easy to follow. The displays and audio were realistic and enjoyable. Enjoyed it very much. Nice, friendly staff.

Informative. Self-guided tour of a WW II battleship. We walked all over it. Saw everything. Impressive to see the thoughtful organization of the ship. Informative labels. Helpful signage. We spent two hours and enjoyed every minute.

Family of 4 (2 adults, kids 9 and 11). We arrived at 9am with no crowds. When we left close to noon there was a line of cars waiting to get in and a line waiting to buy tickets. Go early! My kids liked the deck stuff best as they could climb and touch more. Inside it was more looking into rooms. Everything is very spread out (Alabama, sub, planes, tanks etc) so it didn't seem too crowded though do follow the tour arrows as it was frustrating when people didn't as you're trying to pass each other on areas there is not really room to do so.

The USS Alabama is such an educational experience. Plan to spend 2-3 hours at least. There are 3 different routes to take. Pick up a guide before starting. Be respectful of others and the ship and contents. The USS Drum submarine is fun to walk through. Amazing to imagine soldiers living in such tight quarters.

You can feel the presence of the brave young men who served aboard this amazing WWII battleship. It is huge and well-preserved with lots of good interpretive signage throughout for the self-guided tour. Stairways between decks are narrower and steeper than in a home. Hang on to the railings. This was a sobering visit. I gained an entirely new perspective on the difficult and scary life servicemen had on board these vessels. Spent 1.5 hours on the ship, 30 minutes in the excellent aviation hangar and another half hour walking through the WWII submarine. It’s a tight fit but again offers perspective on the incredibly tough and courageous men who volunteered to serve on subs. This is an eye-opening and important site for kids and adults to see.

Fun sampling of history and a great way to show your kids some important pieces of our history. Not good for kids under 4, or people who can’t handle a lot of steps and tight places.

Great attraction to visit. We were amazed at the size of the battleship and so great you could walk about it. Also enjoyed walking around the submarine. Super value.

We very much enjoyed Battleship park and took about 3 hours on self guided tours of the submarine, battleship, and memorial gardens. Be mindful there are many Narrow passageways and steep staircases so may not be appropriate for those who cannot climb or are afraid of enclosed spaces. The colors and numbers are very easy to follow for tour. I really leaned a lot and have a new appreciation for what our navy goes through and the sacrifices men and women make for our country.

There are two ships here. The Battleship Alabama and the Submarine USS Drum. Be aware that the Drum has small passageways and taller folks will have a hard time navigating the hallways.
I went on a whim due to weather not allowing me to play a round of golf. The hour drive $5 parking and admission price (they do give a AAA discount) were all worth it. The historical value, the plaques, all the knobs, dials, buttons, lights, dials just made me think how much training, experience, knowledge had to go into running these ships. The only thing missing was Gene Hackman (RIP) and his speech in Crimson Tide.

We thoroughly enjoyed the 4 hour we spent touring both the Battleship & the other exhibits including the submarine USS Drum. Not the best experience perhaps to experience during covid (with hindsight) due to the required use of the metal stair rales and also the confined spaces, however, we thought it was very Weill presented & extremely interesting. Neither the battleship nor submarine would be accessible to folks with any physical limitations or claustrophobia. Small children appeared bored with any of the details, which I recall as a child was the way I felt when I was that age. Parents should make all their teenage children to see this to demonstrate just how well they have it these days, especially if considering going into the Navy. Great value for $$ & unlike some reviews, I don't think paying $4 for parking to the large grounds & exhibits available outside of going into the ship/submarine to be excessive. Nice picnic areas & location for a stop over for kid to run around & see the tanks & planes & the war memorial. Well worth the 1 hour drive from Biloxi if you want a casino break. We did not buy tickets in advance.

Great experience, super recommended. Both for adults and teenagers. Well organized and easy to visit. Virtual experiences are beautiful, a little less flying.

The ship was gargantuan! Our family all enjoyed it- ages 7, 9, 11, 15, and two adults. There’s plenty for the younger kids to see and touch and climb, which is nice. It took us three hours to walk through all of it and we weren’t particularly slow. 😯 The submarine only took about 10 minutes.

This was our third Battleship tour and a host of other ships, both retired and active. My husband and I were both in the Navy. This ship is so very nicely done and has the absolute BEST static displays! Truly top notch stuff! The detail is remarkable along with the care taken to display period uniforms, pictures, and props. The tour itself is not guided by a human, but you are offered a guide sheet that carefully sends you on three distinct tours throughout the ship. These tours are very well thought out and easy to follow. Even if you do not have the sheet, the stops are numbered and are pretty easy to follow if you pay attention to where you are. Some people just stop and look at arbitrary things and that is okay, too. You can see most of the USS Alabama, and much of the USS Drum, which is the sub and part of the Memorial Park. The ship is still being restored and it is heartwarming to see the skill in the restoration, as well as the amount of work that has and is being done. Consider wearing comfortable clothing and shoes as there is some care needed in climbing around and over thick hatches and narrow passageways. We thoroughly enjoyed touring both the Alabama and the Drum and are grateful for the people that have worked so hard to preserve these amazing pieces of our Nation's history. I almost forgot! There is a huge hangar full of aircraft and military vehicles that are worth the time to see, also. Outside tanks and more aircraft. Truly a wonderful collection of History that everyone can enjoy!

The self guided tour gives you a detailed look at life on a big war ship and take as much time as you like.
My wife was unsure how much she wanted to spend after watching tours on You Tube videos, but we ended up touring all 3 tours. The mechanics of the ship are amazing, to see how the turrets operate and the size and handling of the huge munitions for the 16"gun. Wow!
The tour book makes it easy to follow through all the differnt levels and gives a detailed description of every stop.

It’s like being in a city on water, it could have its own zip code. Very fascinating to actually be walking same footsteps as the ones who fought on the ship, in WWII.

After getting close and personal with the many aircraft they have displayed both inside and out, we walked up the gangplank to the awesome USS Alabama.Allowed to freely explore the ship at your own pace was simply incredible. There is a theater that runs a 15 minute video giving the history of the amazing ship including how she got to where she rests today. Very informative. After that we spent over 4 hours exploring every deck of the ship. There are a LOT of steps to climb so dress comfortably. The ship is air conditioned throughout so each deck was quite comfortable. The displays were amazing and give you a real feel for what it was like to serve aboard the ship back in the day. I give a huge thank you to all who made this amazing journey through history possible and to those who maintain her in her glory today. Salute.

We were very impressed with the Memorial Park and how personal they made it. All the names that were listed, the statues, the flags... Very moving.
The indoor exhibits were all interesting and in very good condition. The USS Drumm submarine was eye-opening. By the time I reached the engine areas, the smell was starting to get to me. Combined with the tightness, I came close to having a panic attack.
The USS Alabama was much more enjoyable. The theater with the documentary was a treat. But watch those flex plates or you'll stub your toe! All in all, we really enjoyed our afternoon visit to all the sites in this one place.

This is a neat place but DON’T go when it has been raining or if you have ANY issues with mobility!!! The steps were wet and very slick. My daughter slipped and fell twice on the metal steps, which were very steep. She has a huge bruise on her back. I couldn’t go along with my family on the tour due to recovering from a broken leg and the workers wouldn’t allow me to sit inside any of the facilities to wait for them. So I had to either sit outside in a torrential downpour or in a hot car. It was a very disappointing day.

I finished my disaster assignment with the Red Cross a day early and ended up not having enough time for my planned visit to the USS Alabama Memorial. I was able to find enough time to drive in and look at the outside displays but was not able to go aboard the Alabama or the submarine, nor to see the displays that are inside. However, outside there are displays for the Vietnam and Korean Wars, assorted airplanes and armored vehicles. I had a great time in the 30 minutes that I had to spare and cannot wait until I can return and tour the entire facility. If you're nearby, don't miss it!

Bring your most comfortable hiking shoes because you will need them!!! So many stairs into the ship, you really get a workout!! We didn't make it to the engine room, but saw the crew bunks and kitchen areas for crew and officer's. The deck is huge and you can get close to the 16" main guns, 40mm anti-aircraft and 5" gun batteries, along with all the .50 caliber machine guns scattered on the deck. The USS Drum submarine is also there, quite a tight fit!!! I wouldn't do well in the silent service!!! The B-52 is there, along with the A-12 Oxcart, another version of the SR-71 Blackbird. A Russian tank, US Sherman tank and some big guns are on the grounds. The day we went was a large kite show with several hundred kites being flown on the grassy field in front of the battleship.

We loved our visit. Please plan to stay all day. There is so much to see. Its wonderful that this facility is here for us to enjoy. Wide variety of things to see. Every one was friendly and the facility was very clean. Thank you for making our visit great.

Really impressive to visit the boat and the submarine.
Very interesting and informative.
Well documented.
I really recommend

Oh my gosh! This place was amazing! The battleship was amazing as was the submarine and the airplanes. I could spend all day there. I love this place!

It was a majestic battleship. Tour guide was very helpful and informed. Great experience, we would definitely go back.

So interesting. I have a spotty memory of this as a school field trip. I was able to clamber around so much of it as an adult that I did not remember from before. A lot to see. It gives a real view of what sailors of the era had for living, working, eating conditions.

Prepare to spend the day! Wow, what an experience. We spent close to 5-6 hours there. We toured the Submarine Drum first and then the Battleship USS Alabama. I am 6'1 and can't imagine being on a sub for a long time LOl.. The Docents were very informative. this was a very detailed self guided tour. Make sure you take the written tour guide with you.

A must see, Military veterans and seniors are $15 with $5 for parking. The USS Alabama and the submarine USS Drum are wonderful self paced tours. If small spaces bother you skip the USS Drum; also mobility issues may be a problem as you’re up/down many stairs. Grounds have planes, helicopters and tanks….excellent!

The “Mighty A” is located at Battleship Memorial Park, just a short drive east of downtown Mobile. Ample parking is available at USD 5/car and admission is USD 18 with reductions for children, veterans and seniors. Admission for Active Duty Personnel is free.
There is much to see and do, so expect to spend at least a couple of hours. The main exhibit is of course the USS Alabama, which was launched in 1942 and fortunately became a cornerstone of the Memorial Park in 1965. Also the USS Drum, a 1941 submarine, is on show and in addition you can explore excellent and beautifully restored aircraft.
The Memorials honoring veterans are definitely not to be missed either, and the entire Park is a must-see for visitors to the Mobile area.

Excellent experience for my family. I would love to come back and experience a guided tour with a veteran. That would make this really special.

This is a must do. It is great for couples or families of all ages. Truly informative experience. I highly recommend this!!

This is a MUST see! For years we have said, hey we need to stop! We finally did it and it did not disappoint! Self guided and guided tours of the battleship and submarine. Amazingly huge with lots of history within those walls.

I have passed this Battleship many times and finally decided to visit. Very interesting part of history and what life on a Battleship would be like for our military. Self guided tour go at your own pace but stairs may be hard to navigate for elderly. Worth the $.

Very educational as well as amazing to be able to walk on a piece of our history. Being able to go inside the ship and see how the crew lived and all it took to keep the ship moving and safe was eye opening.

I was first taken back by the price BUT WOW WOW WOW! The aircraft and other vehicles inside and outside were awesome and well informed and then the Battleship! Just impressive and in awe of how these men lived on this thing and also how many small needs that we take for granted were met (barbershop?, ice cream parlor?). The ship did its job in a short period of time so it really is in pristine condition. The sub was pretty cool too.......TIGHT!

We surprised our kids with a visit here. We all had a blast! Our kids aren’t toddlers, they can handle the many stairs without us having to carry them. I saw others with very small children, and that seemed miserable to me. There are a lot of stairs/steps and head ducks! Our kids were recently studying some of the content in school, so it helped further bring things to life for them. They were excited to go back to school and share their experience.

For those who enjoy military history, this is a must see but be prepared to walk a lot. There’s static displays of aircraft, a museum, a submarine you can walk through, and the battle ship itself the USS Alabama.

When I found out I was going to the Mobile area for a wedding I had to visit. Being a Navy veteran it was a no brainer. The Alabama was in great condition and my wife loved the tour as she got to see what the life of a sailor was like on board. The other airplanes and the submarine were great as well. Overall a great place to see some great military artifacts and vessels.

We spent four hours here. Lots of stairs up and down, sometimes humid in spots. Lots of reading but was very interesting. Small small children probably wouldn’t enjoy, but my nine yr old loved it until he got tired three hours in. The battleship was the best part.

This is a really good place to go if you like history. There is a lot of walking to do but you go at your own pace so not hard to do.We have visited it twice and enjoyed both times. It takes a lot of time so plan to spend the day,

Lots of walking, but it was interesting to walk around a real battleship and submarine from the WWII era. Some of the other planes could have used more signage, and restaurant was closed by the time we got there.

At first not too keen and in the end very nice experience we spent double the time there, the only drawback all in English

I was here back in the 80's.... Now much more to see.
The volunteers are super friendly and very knowledgeable. We visited December 8th , remember ing Pearl Harbor and the sacrifices many people made for our freedom.
We must never forget.

The Alabama provides a really great experience. Since this ship was decommissioned right after WW2, it is preserved with much of its period layout and equipment intact - without the later refittings and modernizations that you find on the Iowa-Class battleships preserved elsewhere. We were especially excited to go inside the barbette areas of the 16” guns . Submarine and many other military planes and vehicles displayed in the surrounding park are well with the viewing.

On our USA Family Road Trip we stopped at the Battleship memorial Park and spend some 5 hours there. I was returning after a trip in 2003 and impressed by the upgrades.
It is a super experience and very informative, both for kids (ours are 12 and 10) as well as for us.
Highly recommended and you need time. I recommend to plan at least 3-4 hours.

This was a nice change of pace on a typical vacation and a very informative look into our military history. Simply follow the guide that is given to you at admission and you will be able to see and be given explanations to practically everything on the ship.

If you are even close to here, it is a must-see. We were fortunate it wasn't busy. It still took us greater than 3.5 hours to enjoy the self tour of the USS Alabama ship. The USS Drum submarine was about 45 minutes to enjoy. Many outside and inside vehicles and planes to enjoy as one appreciates the sacrifices our forces gave for freedom. For a nice picture of the whole ship, take a short walk on the pier, just keep an eye out for snake and alligators. We didn't see any, but there is a warning about them.

This is a great place in Mobile to spend at least half a day. If you like maritime history, this place is for you. It's only $18 for an adult ticket and $5 to park but worth the price of admission. You will spend a few hours if you want to tour the whole battleship. Then, go inside to the aviation museum, then visit the submarine outside.
Some parts of the battleship are air conditioned, some are not. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water with you.
The sub is cool inside as well.
There is a small eatery on site and a gift shop.

This is a self-guided tour that you follow by numbers on a sheet with descriptions. There is air conditioning inside the ship. We loved this excursion! Highly recommend the submarine and the battleship.

Awesome visit. Staff was wonderful and helpful. Ship is historic and well maintained. Sub was an added bonus. Signage was great and made for a memorable trip.

This is a great stop and very informative and reasonably priced! It was awesome time for our family but I wouldn’t make the mistake of going into the girt shop! They were extremely rude to several people including my son as he was in line to pay 2 minutes before closing and they said is that all you want we are closed!!

When visiting Mobile, have to visit, will not be disappointed. Make sure you have at least 4 hours to experience the entire park

Aircraft museum, Battleship and Submarine tour all included with admission. Cost for military, veterans and seniors 15.00. 18.00 for other adults. Well worth the money. Minimum spend 3 hours maximum all day! Very much to see. Inside the battleship prepare for many ladders and winding hallways, stocked with ww2 uniforms, guns, cigarettes, candy, typewriters, books, just like a sailor would have had in his bunk or at the shop. Only outside of ship and aircraft museum wheelchair accessible and still worth it!

It was enriching. Quite an interesting history. The submarine was very cool. It was quite tight going down and up the ladders. Was feeling claustrophobic esp at the 3rd deck of the battleship. The submarine tour was direct the battleship was huge so they had yellow, green and red tags to follow. It is important to know how our forefathers were determined and persevered and completed the battle ship in months during war.

The battleship is awesome! Museum inside was really interesting with WWII german and Japanese artifacts and what life was like for sailors during that era.
The submarine was accessible and also very interesting how sailors could stay in such cramped quarters!
Aircraft inside the building were also very interesting!
We saw everything in about 3 hours…
We drove over from our hotel in Fort Walton beach, which took about 1.75 hours.
Great Day trip!!

It has been about 10 years since the last time I was here. I brought my wife this time and we both enjoyed everything. Everything is well maintained and educational. I will come back the next time I am in the area.

Unbelievable experience for me!
Worth all the walking, blisters, pictures ….
I was able to go up as far as they allowed
We spent about 3-4 hours looking at everything on all the floors/levels
There’s also the USS Drum section submarine- also worth exploring throughout all the portholes

This was a fascinating tour of both a battleship and a submarine. I loved seeing how our Navy men had to live while on board serving our country.

I always enjoy visiting this remarkable battleship, and the other military attractions; in this park. The curators and staff; are very helpful, friendly, and professional. The last time that I was here was two years previous in 2021. At that time; I had my two pet rabbits….Joey & Delta….with me. And now the newest addition to the family, Walter; was with us. This was Walter’s first battleship experience, and he seemed quite impressed. We always enjoy talking with other people; and telling them about this ship, and the rabbits are always the cause of people initiating conversation. I think that the new teak decking is beautiful, and we loved the diving locker exhibit. We might be back in April, but even if not; I will continue to always renew my membership. I will give it the highest possible rating of two rabbit ears up!!

We spent several hours here and enjoyed all of it. We toured the museum, which has a number of planes that would normally reside at the Pensacola Naval Air Station, and you could spend a lot of time just checking them out. The battleship, Alabama is another place you could spend a lot of time. Pretty much you get the chance to explore the entire ship, and there are three self guided tours to follow. It is gigantic! The history and the way it seems to come alive while climbing up and down the ladders and seeing how those aboard her lived, was amazing.
Also amazing was the chance to actually climb inside the USS Drum submarine. Next time we see a movie and depiction of a submarine, we will have an idea of what it is really like.
I think anyone would enjoy spending a half day or so at the Park!

I did the self guided tour and found out that the steel knee knockers are as they are called. I learned quickly to walk slowly through the bulkheads. The whole ship was unbelievably. Clean. Well maintained and the handout I received had everything I needed to know. I’m proud of out service men who served on her as well as all service people. I was very impressed

The battleship and submarine were both fascinating. You are allowed in nearly every space of both ship and sub. There are lots of ladders to climb and rooms to explore. Great views of the bay. Masks are required everywhere so I recommend going on a cool day. Even a 70 degree day was a bit toasty.

While not having a storied history as some other battleships, the vessel by itself is fascinating to visit. Besides the battleship there is the submarine drum, numerous military aircraft and a museum. Well worth the time and money. My favorite part, though, was the onboard soda fountain. Wish they would open it up for real.

This is a great floating historical museum attraction. It's self-guided and very interesting. Be prepared for several flights of narrow, steep, open rung stairs if you want to see the decks below. It's truly like a self-sufficient small town for 2,500 sailors... complete with barber shop and much more.
The building before you enter the USS Alabama has planes, helicopters, and vehicles from the military to view. There's also a gift shop at the exit of the exhibits on your way back to the parking lot where there are a few more military planes and vehicles on display.

The USS Alabama was a very unique experience. While traveling to our destination in Florida, we decided to stop and see this battleship.
There was plenty of parking on the grounds. Several differnt spots near memorials of you don't want to walk to each one. We made iur way inside to see the exhibits they had to offer. Several planes and military vehicles, POW exhibit and much more.
We only had time to take in the USS Alabama. It was a self guided tour, where you got to explore the numerous decks. We were with our one year old daughter. So we parked the stroller, which you have to due to the many stairs to get to each level. The main deck and main inside deck were wheelchair/stroller friendly.

I have visited this boat for many years and it is still a wonder to me. I love to walk through the submarine the USS Drum and imagine what life would have been like living on it under the sea. You can easily get lost on the battleship. It is amazing that the sailors ran through that ship like they were running through their house. It is just a great thing to be able to walk where our soldiers have walked and see what they went through just to patrol and keep our waters and land safe. The park is great too with all the aircraft, helicopters, boats, and tanks. It is fun to walk through and walk up to the huge planes and get pictures next to them.

Wear your walking/ climbing shoes lol. Very cool tour. We were met at entrance on board by a former Alabama crewmember who told us all about the tours and provided a guide. So much to see. We did all three tours as one. The engine/boiler room even has the sounds crewmen would have heard piped in. We got a little turned around below decks but a few of us did but it wasn't the slightest bit frustrating. Lots and lots of steep ladders with good rails and plenty of padding in low hanging areas. We enjoyed the whole park. We spent approx 4 hrs here. We did not rush at all.

While the battleship USS Alabama is the main attraction at this Park, there is a lot more to see than just the ship. The ship itself is massive. Three self-guiding tours cover seemingly every space above and below decks. Each tour has about 30 stops at everything from the inside of the huge gun turrets to the onboard barber shop, and it takes 1-2 hours just to walk the three tours and look at each stop.
There is also the WWII submarine USS Drum that you can walk through. And a hangar with about a dozen mostly WWII-era planes and a simulator ride.
The battleship, hangar and submarine are one admission. But there is a $5 Park admission fee that allows you to view the two dozen tanks, aircraft and helicopters displayed outside, including a B-52. Plan to spend a few hours even if you’re just walking through the spaces and looking and not reading the exhibits.

We had a great time! My husband and I visited during a short couples getaway- and I can tell you, I am not a history person (my husband is)- but, even I loved this tour! It’s definitely something all people, who are able, should see. I enjoyed the day.

Visitors have incredible access to crawl up the many decks of the conning tower, or peer inside the massive, multi-story workings of the 16 inch gun turrets, and even explore the the depths of the engine room. This magnificent WWII warship housed 2100 men on months long sea voyages. Then tour the entire submarine to be amazed that dozens of men could spend months in such tight and dank quarters without sunshine. Examine over a dozen military aircraft, from a Viet Nam era B-52 (Many still fly today!) to a little Kingfisher seaplane launched from a battleship. Examine the various tanks and armored personnel carriers where brave men jumped out under live fire to battle the enemy. If you are a military history enthusiast, give yourself most of the day to absorb it all and reflect. Well worth the time!

The battleship tour was very good . The displays and descriptions are very well done and it is an amazing piece of American History. The entire family enjoyed the tour very much !

I had not visited USS ALABAMA (BB60) for quite some time, and I’ve been on a road trip that brought me through this area. All my previous pet (service animal) rabbits have visited WW2 battleships before; now it was time for Joey & Delta to visit one, so here we are. The battleship is still as awesome as my last visit, but she does need a lot of tender loving care. I encourage people to donate and to volunteer, because preserving this treasure from the past; is important for all future generations. My rabbits enjoyed their history lesson, but their stroller was limited to just exploring the main deck. We certainly enjoyed our visit, and hope to do so again. A top rating of two rabbit ears up!!

Great experience to tour the battleship. When we entered the ship a tour guide told us about his experience in the service back when the ship was still being used in battle. It was wild to listen to him talk about what it was like to be a 17 year old in action on this huge ship. As you walk through and hear the sounds and read what it would have been like to be there is quite moving.
We did even get to the submarine but looks like a great piece of history as well.

The ticket gives you access to the parking lot where you can see many US Air Force aircraft, such as an F14, an F16 or an F15. But THE star is the SR71 Blackbird. He's here, and you can almost touch him, it's magic.
There are also many land military vehicles

Excellent setup and friendly staff. It was a hot weekend and the cafe was not open for sit down but at least we could purchase drinks.

My father in law served aboard the USS Missouri in WWII. We have toured the ship at Pearl Harbor. A recent trip included a visit to another ship that helped win the war in the Pacific.
The USS Alabama was a front line battleship, and you get to see the outsides and insides of this incredible warship. Be prepared to climb lots of stairs and ladder and put in lots of steps as you get to walk where sailors served. You get to see what life was like aboard the Alabama.
Also at the museum is a WWII Submarine, the USS Drum, the oldest American Submarine on Public Display. You see it from the outside and inside, where again, sailors served. You get to see how they lived and fought on board.
And there’s a terrific variety of aircraft on display. Be prayed to do lots of walking and climbing. Take you time. No hurry. A wonderful experience.

This is the second Battleship I've been to (Battleship of Texas was the other one) and this one is by far the best! The ship is in excellent condition and you have the freedom to tour at your own pace and take all the pictures you want. We spent about 2 hours between both the USS Alabama and the USS drum (submarine) and it was enough time to see everything. I didn't get to walk the park and see all the planes because I was on my way to Florida but I will definitely be back and spend more time the next go around. Before boarding the ship the employees will take your picture in front of a green screen and put some really cool backgrounds behind you. I spent a lot of money on these but they were too cool to pass up.
One of the best things I liked about the ship was how organized it was. All the tours are labeled and each location is numbered so you can easily navigate the tour without getting lost. At the one in Texas I've gotten lost and pretty sure I missed some exhibits. Way to go Alabama for this! Such an amazing time. Can't wait to visit again!

This is an amazing large ship for someone who has no experience with battleships or boats for that matter. There is so much to see and I was amazed at many things. I do not think this is a good place for someone with any trouble walking or who is in a wheelchair because it's very large, there are lots of steps and even more obstacles to step over. Use caution if you visit this ship. But it's an amazing and educational experience.

If you are in the Mobile area, don't miss this amazing battleship and the memorials on its grounds. Along with the ship are examples of planes, helicopters, boats and tanks which served us in warfare. There are memorials to those who served in past wars as well as 9-11. They haven't forgotten the brave canines who served alongside our soldiers as well. The memorial park is dog friendly and if you care to tour the ship, there are outdoor kennels where your companions can relax while you're inside.

An amazing display of, not just the battleship that you can walk about on, but other plane, vehicles, and ships.

Wow, standing still on the deck of such a battleship it’s easy to imagine the brave soldiers that once ran up and down firing weapons at the enemy.. fighting for my freedom. God Bless America and our soldiers!! Everyone should visits such sights. My kids are 14 and 12. They enjoyed (for lack of a better word) this excursion and seeing how the soldiers lived on the ship and submarine.

Spent way longer here than we thought we would. Definifely not to be missed when visiting Mobile. 3 different areas color coded for you to explore inside the ship. Highly recommend the expereince for all the family.

We had fun Thus tour was great. Never realized a ship so big! We loved it. We had a 6 yr old who had fun too. He loved all the guns on deck.

Amazing trip, helpful staff, not the easiest to navigate if you’re not physically able to go up n down a lot of ladders. Very nice layout once we got our bearings and loved that we were able to see most of the ship from top to bottom. Loads of other displays from planes, sub, tanks. Super fun day.

Wow! What a fantastic experience and workout. So many reviews have been very positive. I’ll touch on things that caught my attention:
You can tour all 12 decks, but if you make the climb all the way to the bridge, know it’s blocked off with plexiglass.
I’m older and overweight, but I was able to navigate the stairs well and did take occasional breaks in the officers' mess, which had chairs, couches, water, and restrooms.
I would recommend spending all day to see all the memorial park has to offer (USS Alabama, Drum, the hangar, and the outdoor park.
They give you an armband so you can leave to get lunch and return, since the on-site restaurant has average ratings.
It’s A LOT of walking, climbing, and bending, and you will be sore the next day, but the soreness is well worth it to see the artifacts and history in this wonderful memorial park.

The boat tour is complete, we go through all levels and we visit everything, absolutely everything: cabins, kitchens, prison, bakery .... It's super interesting and above all, super impressive to know that nearly 1,800 sailors were piling up on this boat.
The visit of this cruiser also gives the possibility to visit a submarine, a real one, and there, it's the same, everything passes there and there too, it's even more impressive to imagine the sailors living in this pile of iron

The USS Alabama is in remarkable condition, practically pritine, and she could not have looked much different in 1943 when originally placed in commission. Well worth the walking tour(s) in the color code you wish.

We love battleships , destroyers etc. Visited there went thru museum, then sub (always do sub first) then USS Alabama which takes approx 2.5 hrs. bathroom is in on USS alabama after the green tour. It's a must see trip.

Wow! What a great place to visit. There is so much to see and the prices can't be beat.
My husband did the tour of the USS Alabama and loved it. Meanwhile, I looked after my dog in his little stroller as we walked around the park and looked at all the displays, This alone can take up quite a large amount of time. There were all sorts of aircraft to look at, as well as the USS Alabama and the USS Drum (from a distance). I took all sorts of great photos. The 9/11, Vietnam War and Korean War Memorials were very impressive!
The gift shop was full of all sorts of quality merchandise and souvenirs. While we didn't eat at the adjoining restaurant, the aromas coming from it smelled wonderful!
I highly urge anyone interesting in visiting this park to do it!

Gosh this is awesome. You could spend over an hour on the grounds and inside before even going into the USS Alabama and USS Drum. The Alabama is about 3-4 hours of touring.

If you're into this sort of thing, you'll love this self guided tour. Lots of planes, a submarine you can walk through, and of course the Battleship--it's HUGE. I enjoyed this.

No description on all the displays for self guided tour. The map was good like color coding was good. Definitely need to wear comfortable shoes going up and down the steps and stairwells.

Let me start by saying that I'm personally not affiliated with any branch of the military, nor is my wife. We were just looking for something to do in Mobile since we were only there for a day, and we sure glad we ended up going here. The stores and information told throughout the self guided tour really put into perspective what these brave people lived through. The memorials and information about the captain, officers and crew really touched me deeply. This is a great way to honor their sacrifices and effort. Well done!
As for the tours, there are 3 colored routes you can take, Yellow, Red & Green. All are self guided and all start from the same position. You'll easily spend a few hours if you do all 3 routes, so keep that in mind. Also, try and stick to the markings and the paper they hand out, it will prevent you from losing your position and potentially skipping something. Traversing each level of the USS Alabama was very fun in itself, just be careful going up and down the ladders and it can get steep and narrow. The views from the upper levels of the freaking awesome and the engine room and sleeping quarters in the bowels of the ship are super interesting.
If you get the opportunity, do yourselves a favor and check it out at least once in your lifetime!

Museums do not get more interactive than this. A little boy's dream! You can walk through the sub and battleship and touch EVERYTHING. Hit any button you want! Turn that knob, sit in that chair, hop up on that bunk bed, climb that ladder. Between the interactivity and all the photos displayed throughout, kids can see what life was like on the ship. What a great opportunity to learn history, have fun, and possibly spark an interest in future military service.
We'd previously been to the USS Midway, which my kids loved, and I think the USS Alabama Memorial Park was on par with that.
TIP: We went in the middle of the week, but it was still quite crowded. Then as we were leaving multiple buses with school groups/camps showed up. My advice is to get there when it opens and see the submarine first. If you're pressed for time, take the red and green tours on the battleship first, then finish up with the yellow. The yellow is by far the longest and a little redundant, so if you have to cut a tour short, yellow would be the best one to skip out early on.
Plan on 3 hours if you have squirrely kids, and 5+ hours if you're an adult group who wants to see and read everything.

We could understand real size of insides of the submarine and battleship. Then, We can imagine how tight living in the submarine, and how complicated inside structure of battleship. Based on these understanding, we could imagine tough situation during World War 2.

My wife and I had a few hours to spare in Mobile and decided to go to Battleship Park. We were there early on a weekday and there were very few other visitors. We toured the submarine USS Drum basically alone; the battleship was busier but never crowded. The aviation displays were also very interesting. Glad we made this visit.

Enjoyed the whole experience. The static displays were good. going up and down inside the battleship was quite an experience.

This is the third time I have visited the Alabama Memorial. I enjoy the history and it is amazing to see how complex the operation of this ship was even 80 years ago. It was not an easy life being a sailor and it gives you a greater respect to those of "the greatest generation" who fought and won WWII. This is an amazing area and museum for anyone visiting the Mobile AL, area. I can't recommend it highly enough.

My boyfriend had a blast seeing all of this history. Definitely follow the guide they offer you in order to see everything because you will get lost and miss stuff. In addition they have the USS Drum now which looked awesome to.

This was so cool for our whole family. Not only do you get to look around the top of the boat but you also get to explore inside the ship and there is soooo much to see!! It was such a cool, unique experience and we are so glad we went!

The USS Alabama, a WWII vintage battleship, has been well preserved and presented here. Much of the ship, from the upper levels of the bridge to the lower levels where the engines are, is accessible. The Park also includes a large building with several aircraft of various vintages, plus the WWII submarine USS Drum. The battleship is like a small floating city; the submarine is quite a contrast, being so much smaller, and compact. There is lots of staircase climbing to do, but so long as you are up to it, it is all very interesting to anyone who wants to learn more about the real life and experience on these kind of ships.

Been awhile planning on going again next week enjoyed it the last 2 times I went I'm sure I will again USN VETERAN. Readyto sea it again.

Ok, I have been to the battleship previously with my wife and I will say it was worth the trip. This second time we were too late to buy tickets to go in. However, the kids still had a blast. We drove around the parking lot real slow and let them look at the massive number of planes and helicopters before parking and then walking around to some of them. They enjoyed looking and interacting just the same as if we would have went on the ship. If you enjoy history and battleships go for it. If you have never been on a submarine, this is a really cool feature here. I have been on three battleships and total of 5 times and I will say they are all pretty much the same, unless you know your stuff super well or have lived on one, you would not know the difference rather than the overall size. Parking lot area is free and definitely worth stopping if even just to gaze from afar.

So much to see and be able to walk through both the battleships d the submarine were amazing along with all the planes, definitely recommend wearing your walking shoes

We visited here independently, not with a tour
Lots to see here besides just the US S Alabama. The airplane hanger is full of uniforms aircraft, vehicles, photographs, and other assorted items of the US armed forces. For additional cost, you can also use a virtual reality station. I thought the gift shop was relatively expensive however, I recognize that maintaining such a facility is also very expensive. Surprise, interesting item was the confederate states submarine that has been refurbished and has been put on display

This is a must see if you are in the area. So many levels on this ship and we seemed to go on and on. Enjoyed the museum before the tour also

What a great piece of history to have the privilege to walk around. I just can't imagine what the crew of this great ship went through during the war. Walking in their steps, seeing where they ate, slept and worked was surreal. I have greater appreciation for sailors having to go up and down so many ladders (stairs) to get to where they are going. The enemy had to be shaking in their shoes when they saw this ship on the horizon. Thank you to everyone who ever served on this ship.

Must see for maritime enthusiast. The museum itself is fairly compact. Goes inside of major battleship parts and historical facts. Do not forget your money like I accidentally did. I always check for that now.

Very informative great exhibits. We could not do it all. Volunteers were great. Would do again in the area.

The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park displays a lot of U.S. military history, especially from WWII. The USS Drum submarine was very interesting to explore. The park has indoor aviation exhibits and the surrounding grounds have a plethora of aircraft and vehicles to checkout. I would have enjoyed having onsite docents explain the history and operations of both the battleship and submarine but the tours are “self guided” only. Many displays and exhibits do not have placards or detailed information. Nevertheless, it was well worth the $18 admission. Recommended.

Beautiful warship and nice park. Didn't enter but great views from outside the park, plus it saves you some money. A must-visit when in Mobile.

We visited in April, it was a great time weather and crowd wise. But we ran out of time to see everything. That said, we took our time and it was amazing to see the detail that was restored.

We spent several hours here, if you can take your time and go through all the walkways. There is a lot of details to see but easy to miss if you just skim through.

We went here for something to do in a cold and windy day. Not a good choice. The ship was very interesting and worth the stop. The cold made it hard to see things on a slow pace so we missed some things. Still a very interesting and educational event.

Excellent self-guided tour of the battleship. I use a cane, but was able to climb the ladders (which there are numerous) up and down. I was also able to climb over the ship doorways. An exhibit of this type would not be accessible for tour with a wheelchair or walker use, except for the main deck. One needs to "be a sailor."

Lots to see. More than can be covered in a day. The Battleship Alabama has three separate self tours available. We completed about 2 ½ of them before stopping. We spent time in the aircraft pavilion but didn’t have time for the submarine or the outside exhibits—was way too hot and humid. Note that parts of the battleship are warm and humid with only certain areas air conditioned. Lots of steep ladders, but very well documented with explanation placards everywhere and special exhibit areas scattered throughout the ship. No food onsite so either bring your own or plan to leave and come back in. Several restaurants within about a five minute drive. Traffic can be heavy on the Battleship Parkway access road, especially near rush hour. Note also that the day we were there, they were either painting inside the ship or had just painted, and in some areas below decks the paint smell was almost overwhelming.

Be sure to give yourself enough time to see all. I made it through the Destroyer and the Sub, but only just, with a little time for some of the stationary planes outside -and did not have any real time in the hanger at all. (A shame, because in that space there actually were docents to discuss things with). Plan on 3 hours - depending on crowds. 3 routes through the ship and I found them at times hard to follow but managed it in the end. Everything is signed, though strategically placed communicative guides would help. You can skip the video IMOP if pressed for time. I will usually do ships like this when the city has one as an attraction and this park is better than most. Very much worth your admission, and kids are discounted (just corral them please, lol)

A great place to take the family. The battle ship is huge and there was no way that we would be able to tour the entire ship. The submarine was really even more interesting because it was smaller. The museum with the planes was very interesting as well. All of the staff/volunteers were helpful and knowledgeable.

Great tour, but to get the most out of it, you'll be there all day. We spent 4hrs in the Alabama itself. There was a couple of Veterans that shared stories. Feel so privileged to be able to hear their stories.

Hello hello.
Very interesting to tour the museum. The price is only 15 dollars and you can admire several naval, air and land combat ships. Incredible to be able to enter a real submarine.
This visit lasts at least two hours and enjoy the entire tour.

Fantastic experience! Went with our 9 year old granddaughter and we all loved it. In fact, we were on a week long trip through costal Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, and our granddaughter said that this was her favorite part of the trip. Excellent way for her to experience and learn about history. You could spend an entire day there exploring everything. The battleship, numerous warplanes, and the submarine were all great. Could take a while to explore the tight confines of the sub if it’s crowded but well worth it.

We stopped here on the way to Orange Beach. Our 8 year old son has really been into ships and other vessels and enjoyed being able to experience an actual battleship and submarine here.

No water fountains 🙁
We had a fun time, they had self guided tours of the U.S.S Alabama. It took us 3 hours just to get through the self guided tours of the battleship. We didn't plan enough time to get to see everything we wanted. This is definitely an all day trip!

This was an amazing self guided tour plenty to and do. My children loved it and had so many questions, you need more than 2 hours to tour the entire museum, I plan on coming back to visit again,

This Memorial park is fantastic! If you are a gearhead, military buff, tech person etc you will tuly enjoy! Staff are outstanding as well. The Alabama is like a new ship. This is by far a place to spend at least 4 hours. A gem!
!

We once again visited the alabama and this time we visited early in the morning to beat the heat. My kids are walking now so i didnt have to tote a baby and we were able to see the entire ship. Its really amazing to imagine a life on a ship like that. Definetly dont miss out on the planes inside the pavillion and dont forget about the ss drum.

Was great experience and I will visit in the near future with alot of time to explore more. The kids loved the visit too and never wanted to leave

A fun place to go and bring the kids! Lots of history to learn and a fantastic display in the museum.

A beautiful battle ship with so much history. You can feel the history as you walk throughout the ship. It is hard to put into words unless your go and visit for yourself. Highly recommended.

Excellent way to spend an afternoon. Battleship and museum grounds were living history. The self guided tour provides the ability to see the sacrifice made by our military every day. Strongly recommended.

Passing through on a road trip, this offered a great 2-3 hour stop to stretch our legs and see some history. Adults and kids (ES/MS age) had an enjoyable visit. We arrived just as the park opened on a Saturday morning. Crowd was minimal, but grew pretty large as we were leaving (took it as our queue). Can arrive a little early and walk around to see the aircraft on the grounds prior to the boat entrance opening. We headed to the USS Drum first and had it to ourselves. Then moved onto the battleship and walked through the color coded self-guided tours. Hesitant to make this stop on our trip, but turned out to be worth it.

Very cool place to visit! Whether you’re into military memorabilia , history, guns or well built ships, this tour has it all. We spent hours doing a self guided tour. You can spend as much or as little time as you want exploring almost every facet of this ship. I am still in awe of the mastery workmanship that went in to building the ship. Mostly, I am indebted to the soldiers who manned the ship. What they must have endured is unbelievable.

Giant history lesson walking around the ship. Felt like I was right there with the sailors. Interesting that many of them slept where they worked. Lots of walking carefully on uneven areas and up and down stairs. I am 67 with no mobility issues. Definitely doable for older folks. The museum next-door and the submarine are great also.Sorry the restaurant was closed.

We passed this park on our way from New Orleans to Pensacola Beach. There is much to see (tank, helicopter, plane...) The highlight is certainly the USS Alabama, which you could see in detail. One can only guess how the sailors used to live on this ship. This is even more stark at the submarine, which stands right next to it and can also be visited. Super tight everything.. The visit was definitely worth it.

We were staying in the gulf shores area, but took a day trip up to allegatory alley in Summerdale and then onto mobile to see the battleship and submarine. We are so glad we did!! Our boys loved exploring the battleship and the submarine. My husband was impressed with how much you could really see and experience on the vessels. We couldn’t take the the stroller on the submarine, but could get it to the main deck of the battleship. Both had self guided tours and the battleship had 4 with papers you could pick up describing different numbered points of interest. There was an aviation exhibit as well as a couple of memorials on the grounds. It was a great stop!
I will note that on the battleship a couple of areas had sound effects that were very mild but scare one of my sons a little bit. He’s still glad we went though!

Alabama has a rich military history, and Battleship Park is a requirement for anyone who wants to understand and see how the people who served on ships like the USS Alabama and USS Drum lived. The park staff are phenomenal, and we spent 4 hours on the pavilion, USS Alabama, and USS Drum. We returned the next day to walk through the various memorials (Korean, Vietnam, and 911) as well as the aircraft, tanks, and other military equipment that are on display. Being able to walk up and touch a B52 bomber is worth the price of admission.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of steep, narrow stairs on the ship, and there are multiple levels that you'll be going up and down.

I'm so glad we came across this place! Seeing all the history and being able to walk around the battleships is so humbling. We had a blast. You can easily spend half a day or more here. Just incredible.

We were in a rush and able to go through in 2.5 hours but you could easily spend a whole day, especially if you're a history buff!

I hope your legs are in shape there is alot to see from the war memorials to the actual Battleship USS Alabama

We loved our experience here! So much to see! The ship is well kept and the staff is very friendly! Lots of planes and other military vehicles to see too!

Set aside at least 3.5-4 hours to really get the essence of the USS Alabama and the USS Drum. Both provide an intense view into the past and the glories of engineering.

See the sub first ...45 min. then venture onto the USS ALABAMA which has Red tour first then green tour then yellow tour ...approx 2 -1/2 hrs or more ....museum is interesting. Restrooms in museum or on battleship after green tour. Parking was
$4 which I thought should be incl with admission ...gift store was a hidden gem
very reasonable items.

We came late however we were still able to explore the USS Alabama Memorial Park. They have huge collections of war machines such as Tanks, Artillery, Aircraft, Battleship & Submarine. The USS Alabama - The Heroine of the Pacific stands proud side by side with USS Drum a Submarine. There’s an admission to enter the Battleship and Submarine. They also have an SR-71 spy plane pretty cool.

So it was a rainy day, so we decided since the beach was out, a little road trip to explore some history. The history of the ship and life aboard the ship was fascinating. Can't even imagine how loud it must have been when those 16 inch guns went off! The site also has a bunch of old jets and other older military equipment, along with an old submarine you can also tour.

This was a great experience and tour, very enlightening and educational. The complexity of the ship was amazing and hard to imagine living on it for such a length of time. Having a concession area for lunch or snacks would be a great addition. A downside is the only snack available was an “ice cream” machine that only dispensed one flavor, despite choosing other available flavors.

This is full of amazing artifacts, history, and is well laid out throughout the buildings and ships. Will definitely go again!
One thing of note: if you have any mobility issues the ships will be difficult and there is a lot of walking, climbing stairs, ladders, and going through small doorways in the ships.

Wow this was an amazing experience. Tour the museum, then the USS Drum, and finally the USS Alabama. All the volunteers were helpful and the exhibits throughout were well described and extremely interesting.

God bless our Navy. A truly awesome experience to see the size of this ship and the big guns. Easy to find and easy parking.

We throughly enjoyed our visit despite it being 110F and coming from Scotland, quite a bit hotter than we are used to . First time walking through a submarine which was very interesting and then given I’m over sixty and the heat, did most of the yellow tour of USS Alabama. Very impressive. Far bigger than HMS Belfast .The plane collection was also very impressive particularly the red tail. Fortunately my husband is a bit of an aircraft nut (ex Wing Commander ) and could tell me what each of the planes were as the signage was very hit and miss with some planes being wrongly labelled and some with none at all.
I am used to in the UK every plane having some information on what type of plane it is and some information on what it did and how long it was in service and then a paragraph on what the actual plane on display did
I feel the museum would benefit from investing in something similar or even giving out a summary sheet like they did for USS Alabama
Overall though we were both very glad we had decided to visit . Great memories and photos.

To see this history was humbling. So many levels on ship. Got to see quarters, kitchen, dental and Dr space. Quite interesting

Absolutely great, don’t miss it and plan enough time, i recommend 3-4 hours. USS Alabama Battleship, USS Drum Submarine, several planes, helicopters and ships. Very informative.

A beautiful spot rich in history and info.
Great picnic spot and location for an afternoon outing.
Well worth a visit!

This was a great attraction to see upon our departure from Mobile. The amount of items that they have on site for you to tour was amazing! We enjoyed the USS Drum, USS Alabama and the numerous aircraft that were on site. I recommend allowing a good 2-3 hours for an in depth tour.
Be mindful of lots of steps and tight spaces. the staff were all very welcoming and accommodating. Well worth the $33 that we paid for 2 people ($18 adult and $15 senior/55+)

The Alabama was well marked so you could find your way around and the descriptions were understandable.
The Submarine Durm was my favorite because it's small and we walked through the whole ship and felt like I was peeking into a private space.

This place is amazing. So much more than just the ship to see and do. Everything is well laid out. The ship is vast with 11 floors the below deck floors can become hot in summer but it’s awesome to see. There are many planes and tanks to see, you can also visit the submarine and go inside again hot and cramped in some areas. There are many memorials to see from various wars and campaigns my favourite is the K9 memorial. We spent 4hours here but could have been a lot longer

My wife and I have toured before, but wanted to take our kids to see it. It is a must see if you are in the area or headed to the beach as a side trip. Kids loved it and gave them a hands on feel for what their great uncle experienced when he served on the ship. We were so glad we were able to go. A note for older folks or folks like my wife who now have to use a mobility scooter, part of the reality of getting to go inside the ship is dealing with tight spaces and lots and lots of stairs/ladders. The top deck and some of inside is accessible to scooters and wheelchairs, but if you hope to see most of the ship, you might have to watch a virtual tour online. There are many things to see on the grounds and entry building such as planes, tanks, and jeeps that can be seen easily from a wheelchair or scooter. Worth seeing.

BB60 ex USS Alabama is in a wonderful state of preservation. Note that the site is maintained by a trust, not by public funds.
This makes the access/parking fee and ticket cost more palatable.
Plenty of outdoor exhibits make for an interesting visit, even outside of the main attractions.
While the museum is accessible, there are no provisions for seating ahead of the cash. So, a mobility challenged person not wishing to access the museum really has nowhere to go, other than the gift shop/restaurant across from the main access point (aircraft structure).
Unfortunately, the staff I encountered at the cash were neither particularly friendly, nor particularly helpful. I put it down to individuals.
The ship itself is in a league of its own; I recommend taking the time to view the introductory video at the beginning of the "yellow" tour .
I appreciate the access to spaces without fuss or tons of barriers, such as the main gun turret aft if the access ramp .

Very interesting displays! Good to know our American history. Very well preserved artifacts dating back to World War ll. There was an eagle on the highest point of the battleship! Here are areas inaccessible to wheelchairs, but still plenty to see and explore. Visit the submarine if you aren’t claustrophobic!

We had a great day at the battleship and submarine. The aircraft displays are a bonus. The also had a dog kennel at the park for your dog to stay while you tour the place.

Really enjoyed touring the hanger and the ships. The submarine was very interesting and the battleship was bigger than I expected. There was plenty of signage but it can be a walk

After seeing this ship in the harbor as we passed through on a previous trip, my husband wanted to visit on a recent return visit to the area. We took our 2 teenage boys and arrived just after it opened. The indoor attractions were very interesting but the favorites of course were the USS Drum Submarine and the USS Alabama Battleship. The sub didn't take a long time to go through and they have both air conditioned as much as possible which was a plus. I recommend going when they open as it's less crowded and temps are more bearable. I would also do the 2 ships first and save the indoor attraction for last as it's cooler inside. The battleship itself was huge and I am sure we didn't see everything as we got a little turned around at times. The boys and my husband climbed up further on the ship to see things and they were absolutely thrilled with the entire visit. There is availability for groups and Scout Troops to arrange for overnight stays. We stopped to visit the Korean and Vietnam memorials on the way out. It's beautiful and so quiet and serene. If you are in the area, be sure to stop in. For $15 ($13 for veterans) it is worth it!!

This was an amazing self tour of the ship. I do not usually enjoy things like this but it was Amazing

Battleship Memorial Park honors veterans of all modern wars. The extensive grounds contain tanks, boats, aircraft, artillery and memorials (for Korea, Vietnam, 9/11, even service dogs) from all military branches including Coast Guard. Along with the memorials and a collection of military equipment, the Park features the submarine USS Drum and the USS Alabama Battleship for touring.
We began inside the Aircraft Pavilion dedicated to Alabama’s Medal of Honor recipients. Historic vehicles, aircraft and war artifacts were on display with excellent legends. Much was from WW2. A unique 3-axle truck (10 wheels) was designed early in the war to transport whatever might be called for and it did . . . water tanks, equipment, even dental care. The Tuskegee Airmen were represented with one of their ‘red tail’ planes and an excellent film narrated by Morgan Freeman.
Submarine models had easy-to-understand, fascinating details about their war roles, successful or otherwise. The German ‘unterseeboot’ (under the sea) or U-boat played an active part in WW1. The Japanese Imperial Navy had the most diverse submarine fleet in the war (long range, short range and dedicated supply subs). They also built the largest subs. Their fleet never matched the success of the US or Germany because their primary use was reconnaissance and supply transport. The U.S. sub fleet, on the other hand, was focused on sinking Japanese shipping.
The first American submarine was built in 1776. By WW1 our subs were strictly defensive, patrolling coasts and protecting allied shipping. That changed in WW2. All American sub designs are named after fish: Gato, Salmon, Balao, Trench, Growler. Subs were the primary offensive vessel of the Pacific theatre. Making up only 2% of the navy, subs sank 30% of the Japanese navy and 65% of their merchant ships. Fifty-two U.S. subs were lost during the war. Several have been turned into museums, including the one here at Battleship Memorial Park.
The USS Drum is the oldest American sub on public display. Commissioned in 1941, she had a crew of 65 enlisted and seven officers. She spent the entire war in the Pacific where she patrolled, planted mines, attacked enemy vessels, provided photo reconnaissance and rescued downed pilots. USS Drum has been at the Park since 1969, now permanently on land.
After boarding, I (in my late 70's) descended the hatch into the forward torpedo room to walk the length from inside. My husband remained above not wanting to deal with the narrow passages and vertical steps. Both of us had plenty of company. The number of dials and controls was dizzying. But I guess when you’re 18 or 19, learning it is a piece of cake as is the agility needed to move about quickly in tight quarters.
My first surprise was an escape hatch. If a Submarine was disabled and on the bottom in depths not more than ~400 feet, a rescue chamber could be lowered from the surface and attached to the outside of the hatch, allowing the crew to escape. Surprise #2 . . . crew members were given all leather ‘depth charge sandals’ in order to cut down on noise during silent running after an enemy attack. Heavy work shoes were noisy and could contain nails.
The periscope room was on a level above and seemed spacious. Sleeping bunks were anywhere there was space, including suspended just above torpedoes. Three bunk beds, one above the other, were hinged to the wall. Crew worked 24/7 so beds were often shared over the day. A third level was below but not accessible to tourists. Walking from section to section meant climbing through smalI doorways that could be closed and sealed in an emergency. I passed by officers’ quarters, kitchen, mess room and toilets until reaching the aft torpedo room where I climbed up to the deck. And I only banged my head and my knees once!
Both the sub and battleship are designated National Historic Landmarks. Commissioned in 1942, USS Alabama operated along the U.S. east coast in ‘42 and ’43, then in the North Atlantic to guard against the raids by German heavy ships. She was transferred to the Pacific theatre in 1943 and decommissioned in 1947. By the time we boarded Alabama, we were too tired to enjoy one of the three self-guided tours offered on board. We wandered very briefly and called it a day.

We always need to remember the sacrifices men and women made to make our country free. Got to walk the corridors where heros also walked. Wanted to do this for a long time. So glad I finally stopped for a tour

The experience reminded me of old school jungle bars. There were a lot of people there and we climbed through the warship like a good army of ants. Don't wear dress, especially a breeze can get more powerful almost anywhere on the ship, and you may have a Marilyn Monroe moment. There's very little actual information on the ship.
On the grounds is a submarine. It has a bit more, overall, information--even though it's a 1,000 times smaller.
Also, there are other planes and military equipment at the facility's beginning. This is the actual are where you may learn information--all about the other stuff. As the for the warship, it's simply good exercise.

Very informative self guided tour. Something all Americans should have to see the sacrifices made for our freedom. I only wish they had guided tours.

Fabulous day spent exploring the Mighty A! She's a beauty with so much to see. The guns are impressive and are so much bigger in person! The Drumm submarine is also worth seeing. Just be ready for small spaces! Give yourself a good 3 hours or more for your visit to see these 2 ships along with all the aircraft inside and outside. The B-52 Stratofortress is magnificent, and I loved the F-14 Tomcat and the Presidential helicopter.

I've been to the USS Alabama several times in the past. This trip, I brought a friend who had never been there before. It was a great experience for us both. My friend particularly enjoyed the tanks and other armored vehicles around the park as well as some of the One-Of-A-Kind aircraft on display (such as the YF-17 prototype that eventually led to the creation of the legendary US Navy F/A-18). The Alabama has been VERY well maintained and is in outstanding condition. The restoration work on the USS Drum submarine has also been very successful. However, the absolute BEST part of the visit was as we were about to leave. After touring most of the outdoor exhibits and both ships, we were going to the last of the outdoor aircraft when we noticed a man doing restoration work on the F-105 Thunderchief. We stopped and had a FASCINATING conversation with him on several aviation topics. It's always delightful to hear the stories from people who were "there" when interesting things happened. So thank you, Mr. Thompson. You were, for me, the highlight of our tour!

Be prepared to walk a lot but this is a great way to spend half a day. We really enjoyed seeing such an amazing piece of history. We did the simulator inside the building and it was fun. Highly reccommend.

What an experience! To have been stationed on this giant during war and serving our country: I thank all of those who have served not only on this ship but in our great military.
To tour this ship was an honor for me. Having myself served on the USS Saratoga during the 70s pales in comparison to what these young men lived during WWII!
To pass though the compartments and hatches brought back memories and was bitter sweet. I wonder how many people touring the Alabama realize just how tight quarters were? How ever inch of this ship was with purpose and by design. NO SPACE was left to waste!!
I would like to see the main deck planks restored but the ship is otherwise in wonderful condition.
RIP to all that have served and are no longer with us. I thank you all

What a fantastic experience…. This wonderful Battleship oozes history and one can feel the way crew lived and worked in some unbelievable conditions
The entire Battlefield Park is a must for genuine WW2 History buffs and an important piece of history for younger generations to hopefully appreciate what it took to win the War
Absolutely outstanding

Take sunscreen along. Got a sunburn because I didn't use sunscreen when I visited the Alabama. Entrance to the Alabama is around $20.
The cafe there is expensive. I spent $15 for a hamburger. Equivalent to a big mac at McDonalds.
Entrance to the submarine is also included. They will also try to sell a souvenir picture as you enter upon admission.

First of all leave plenty of time , as the Alabama is huge, as are the ground's and other displays. The sea and flying lots of related stories to see.

We explored the ship from stem to stern. You are allowed to climb all over this amazing ship and there is a self-guided tour so you can take your time or speed it up as you wish. We were there for more than 2 hours and spent the whole time on the USS Alabama even though there is so much more to look at and go through. They also have a submarine you can tour and lots of military vehicles to walk around. We wish we had more time to explore. It is great for all ages. The kids we saw were having a blast running around- you can explore everywhere!

We really enjoyed this . It was very interesting and informative. We spent a couple of hours touring the ships and museum.

Visited during the covid-19 crap and the museum/ships were open. nice to walk around an old lady like he Bama. The Drum was good also, a perfect companion to The Bama. on the grounds were numerous aircraft to include a B-52. a nice aircraft museum is also located here and this location has a small yet nice gift shop. The grounds also have numerous tanks/military vehicles plus a Korean and Vietnam War memorial(s).

The movie is so great. To hear and see those guys again brought tears of gratitude to my eyes. Our WWII vets are almost all dead and buried now. Our country is suffering because their voices aren't around to teach our kids about the noble and wonderful sacrifices America has made -- has always made -- to shower this earth with the blessings of freedom, peace, prosperity and human fulfillment. My most profound thanks goes out to the men of the USS Alabama and to each and every member of the United States armed services both living and dead. We ain't perfect. But that's what striving for a more perfect union is all about. May Almighty God bless America. We need it.

It was a great experience, with two famous US warships and many other attractions. The airplanes were cool to start with (too bad about the hurricane damage) and I saw several old WW2 favorites of mine as well as more modern planes/helicopters. We then went to the Hood, and walked thru the submarine. It really gives you a good idea what it was to serve on a sub back then. Next we hit the USS Alabama and spent the bulk of our time there. Such a big vessel and so much to see!! My only regret was that we could not see everything because we were rushed for time and we could not see the engine rooms. That would have been incredible for me to see if it was possible. Maybe they can look into that in the future? Still, overall it was 3 hours very well spent and I would like to spend the whole day in the future if I get the opportunity.

I love WWII, and my dad was taking me back to Florida so we stopped and I love WWII. (What to expect) Massive Anti-Aircraft guns, Cafes' (you can't eat at them), stores, small models, tanks, a submarine (separate from ship), barracks, etc. You can get a tour of the ship or you can walk at your own pace. Me and my dad really enjoyed it. You can also have a picnic in front of the ship on picnic tables.

The ship is well kept and has colored lines to let you tour in the manner your want.
Excellent hangar area with more to see on airpower and a submarine to get the feel of what men had to go through while being under water.

They're both open to climb around in! Also many other items on the grounds to see, the 8 engine B-52

My husband and I visited the USS Alabama and USS Drum earlier this week. The tour was easy enough to follow with written instructions and signs around the ships. It's amazing just quite how big this floating town is inside! We spent about 2.5 hours on the ship. We then returned to the aircraft hall to use the bathrooms and cool down a little again, before heading over to USS Drum. It was super interesting to see by comparison how compact this is. We enjoyed climbing up the ladders to see the periscope. We spent about half an hour in this bit. I would recommend wearing trainers as I wore sandals and spent all the time worrying about stubbing my toe climbing through the doors. Definitely worth visiting and great know your admission fee is helping to keep this military history alive.

This is a great piece of history with the Alabama n USS Drumm sub plus all the planes n coast guard sites. You will spend some time on the Alabama, its huge

We came here on our way to Orange Beach to kill some time before check-in. Great way to spend 2 to 3 hours easily. Lots of walking and stairs, so be ready for that. Amazing to see how the Navy operates, especially with the amount of technology that they put into these boats in World War II.

On a recent trip, my husband and I made the Battleship USS Alabama as one of our destinations. It was worthy of the extra miles and stop. You can walk on and thru various places on the ship and it is very clean and various items displayed. Also, the extra bonus was the USS Drum Submarine which is a great sub to walk thru. Very informative. Thanks to all that help keep this history alive!!!

Great exhibition of WW II aircraft and tanks. Highlights are the submarine and the huge warship, which you can visit completely. On the warship there is simply everything, blacksmith, laundry, bakery, dentist, surgery,... On the ship are 3 colored marked tours so that you can find well through the ship, see everything and not get lost.

What a great experience! The history of the ship, the self guided tour and of course the view was well worth the price of admission.

Entrance
When we went there was only one queue and no line so buying tickets in advance only saved us maybe 30 seconds.
Ship
I went to this place 2-3 times with my parents when I was a kid so it has nostalgia. Was able to take my kids for the first time and my mom. We loved seeing the ship. My mom is not that mobile so we didn't go too high or too low in the ship but we saw lots of highlights.
Property
The entire property is a museum now with military aircraft inside and outside. There's also a dry docked submarine.
Time
You could spend a day here. We spent about two hours only because we needed to keep moving.
Food
There is a restaurant on site although we didn't try it.
Overall
Great experience and great value.

Fantastic opportunity to gain a little insight into what life on a naval vessel was like in the WW II and Korean War era. Also a great display of aircraft.

Went with spouse, 2 kids (11 & 2) and in-laws. Ship is very interesting IF you are into naval history, and naval ships. My 11 year old was not fond of the ladders or the closenss of everything (probably not going into the Navy) and there was enough accessible that my strollered 2-year old and spouse were entertained. My in-laws enjoyed the air conditioned theater that showed a documentary about the ship, and that is where they stayed! There was construction/repair going on so the front view of the 16" guns was not available, which was a bummer but the trip was still amazing. The staff were kind, and the interior museum items were awesome. Did not have a chance to go to the sub, as there were severe thunderstorms in the area. Lots of planes in the parking lot for pictures!

Senior $15.00, AAA member $16.00. Self guided tour with easy to follow arrows/numbers. Informative signs posted throughout. Memorial park includes the USS Alabama, the Drum and aircraft.
Only suggestion to the Memorial Park would be a short film covering history of each battleship star and accounts from former crew memebrs. The USS Wisconsin has such film and it really adds to the experience. The USS North Carolina has crew member memory accounts posted throughout the ship.

This place is awesome! There’s a lot to see. The USS Drum submarine is amazing by itself but the main attraction is definitely the Mighty A battleship. Can’t begin to describe the feeling of standing on this magnificent hunk of steel. After all, it’s a freaking BATTLESHIP. Don’t miss the other stuff. Like all the planes and tanks. Just a great place to spent a few hours.

Well worth the price of admission. All the displays plus the tour of a world war 2 sub and battleship amazing.

I have visited multiple museum ships over the years but this was definitely one of the best. Would most certainly visit again if in the area.

My father and I visited this battleship complex in 2008. I recently took my mother to this site. There was the big battleship, a submarine, a hall of large airplanes, and an assortment of airplanes and memorials throughout this large property. The staff was friendly, and there was a lot of content to see. There was a parking fee in addition to the admission fee. Downtown Mobile and Interstate-10 were close to this area. I would advise for people to wear insect repellent, closed-toed shoes, and sunscreen. Taller people may need to use caution in order to not get hurt on the lower clearances. There were many stairs and passages that were tougher to use for those people with the mobility problems. I extend my thanks to all of those who have served in the military, especially to my father.

My wife and I toured the USS Alabama while in the area and we were not disappointed. I feel it priced right. We didn't spend a ton of time reading everything and it still took us 2 hours to get through it. I highly recommend taking the time if in the area.

We had a great day in this place full of history. The self-guided tour of the boat is really well done! (double page to be collected at the entrance of the boat). The submarine is also impressive, not to mention the multitude of other land, air and sea vehicles present at the site.

What a great experience! One should appreciate our military even more after visiting the USS Alabama. The history is extraordinary! My fear of heights almost kept me from climbing the ladders. Those men ran up and down the ladders with ease. The ship is well maintained. Take the time to read the information plaques at each display. Very interesting!!!

Great walk through with the family. Fun to see how sailors lived. Wouldn’t recommend going in the summer. Way too hot for us.

It was spring day and not too hot so we took tour at USS Alabama memorial park. Very interesting for kids and adults.

We went during a demonstration day. It was absolutely fantastic! It is definitely a full-day affair! There were several levels (some with AC some without)- there are vending machines for waters there ( not all work). We will definitely be going back in cooler weather! The staff was awesome and very informative. It was a great educational opportunity for all ages

I went through the battleship 50+ years ago as a child and wanted to experience it as an adult with my wife...it was great both times! As an adult, I had a greater sense of appreciation of what it was and stood for in the history of both the U.S. and the State of Alabama. A special treat was getting to go through the USS Drum submarine...didn't get to experience that as a child.
I highly recommend this to everyone because it's both an educational and rewarding experience that reflects the greatness of the United States of America and the men and women that have been willing to serve our country. I also hope (just as I hope for the native born citizens of Missouri) that native Alabama parents/grandparents will instill in their children and grandchildren a strong sense of pride in the battle ship that is their namesake of their state.

We had a great time visiting the USS Alabama, the submarine, and the museum. The ship is an awesome show of strength and engineering. We walked through all the decks and spent a good 2-3 hours. It was not very crowded during the week when we made the visit.

I enjoyed my visit here, which admission includes entrance to the ship and a submarine. Going into the ship takes you back to the 1940’s. The amount of detail is stunning and the amount of access granted is great if you like discovering. The ship has exhibits that detail every aspect of what living on a battleship was like. Visitors will see rooms for sleeping, insubordinate sailors, tailors, butchers, cafeteria, movies, laundry, barbers, and food prep to name some. The submarine was a little tighter to navigate, but still fun to explore. I enjoyed my visit and learned a lot!

We absolutely loved it. We went on a family trip and the kids loved getting into some of the smaller areas and us adults enjoyed reading the descriptions. They do a great job of staging the rooms to show what it was like. It is very hot in some areas so bring a fan. We had neck fans but forgot them so I used my paper fan. I recommend going early as soon as they open. We didn’t have time to see the submarine but maybe next time.

The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park is an unforgettable experience for history enthusiasts and families alike. The park is rich in history, with the centerpiece being the impressive USS Alabama battleship, which you can explore from top to bottom. There’s so much to see, from the ship’s massive decks to its inner workings, offering a fascinating look into naval history. Alongside the battleship, the park also features the USS Drum, a historic submarine, as well as various aircraft and military vehicles on display. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, making the visit even more enjoyable. Whether you’re interested in military history or just looking for an exciting day trip, this memorial park is a must. Gift shop really nice. Definitely Recommended.

This place is huge, so allow plenty of time if you can. With a battleship, a submarine, planes and armor both inside and out, there is a lot to see. It is amazing and so cool to be able to go many places inside both vessels.

We really liked the Memorial Park!
We had a nice self- tour on the Alabama and loved seeing all the different planes and sub on site!

The tours are self guided, but easy to navigate and informative. The ship is well preserved and is full of interesting exhibits. There is a lot of stairs and walking but it is worth the effort.

The tour of the battleship was fantastic and the ticket included a tour of the submarine. We spent almost 3 hours there visiting both. It was a great experience and so much to see.
After touring the battleship which is massive the space in the sub seems so small by comparison.
This tour is definitely worth the price of the ticket.

The ship was fantastic. The park itself is wonderful. Thanks for saving these pieces of historical events.

First time on a naval ship, the whole ship was very interesting and full of history. Take your time and visit the whole park a lot of history facts. Had a great time.

USS Alabama is WW 2 battleship. Now retired & converted into a museum ship in Mobile Bay. She operated in the Pacific against the Japanese. Decommissioned in 1947. The park is open 0800 to 1700 hrs. There are tickets for admission with discounts for active military & veterans.
Must visit if in town.

1. Bottom Line Up Front/frame of reference for my remarks. This was my third visit (my last was in 2014). I am a retired Marine Corps Infantry Officer, history buff and a tour guide aboard another museum ship; as such, I have high expectations of military museums; I have visited over 30 in the United States. The ship and submarine are well-maintained with plenty of informative placards and artifacts, weapons and uniforms. The aircraft pavilion contains beautifully-restored aircraft. This was my first visit to this ship since I became a certified tour guide on another ship so my perspective is somewhat different from other visitors. See my other reviews if you are interested in other museums of this type.
2. History, USS Alabama BB-60 (South Dakota class battleship)
2.a. Laid Down (construction began). February 1940.
2.b. Commissioned. August 1942.
2.c. Active in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theater of operations.
2.d. De-commissioned. January 1947 (no longer in active service).
2.e. Stricken. June 1962. This is the date that the ship could potentially be scrapped.
2.f. Ownership of ship transferred to the state of Alabama. June 1964.
2.g. Arrived in Mobile, Alabama from Seattle, Washington. September 1964.
2.h. Opened to the public as a museum ship. January 1965
2.i. Designated as a National Historic Landmark. 1986
3. Armament, USS Alabama
3.a. Main Battery Armament. Nine 16" 45 caliber naval artillery guns in 3 x 3-barrel turrets. 16" refers to the diameter of the projectile; 45 caliber refers to the length of the barrel compared to the diameter of the projectile (barrel length is 45 x 16"). The projectiles weighed 1,900 lbs (high explosive) and 2,700 lbs (armor piercing) and were propelled by 540 lbs of powder. Depending on the type of projectile, the range was in excess of 20 statute miles.
3.b. Secondary Battery armament. 20 x 5" 38 caliber dual purpose guns in 10 x 2-barrel turrets. Used for: engaging other ships, bombarding shore fortifications, and anti-aircraft. The projectiles weighed approximately 55 lbs and were propelled by approximately 15 lbs of powder. They had a range of 10 miles against surface targets and 37,000 feet for aircraft.
3.c. Anti-aircraft weapons - primary. 48 x 40mm (1.6 inch) Bofors cannons in 12 x quadruple gun mounts.
3.d. Anti-aircraft weapons - secondary. 56 x 20mm Oerlikon cannons in single mounts. This is equivalent to a 78 caliber machine-gun.
4. USS Alabama, tour routes. There are three primary tour routes: Green, Red and Yellow; they are not restrictive/exclusive but simply divide the ship into portions that are manageable to navigate. Visitors are able to walk the weather decks (exterior portions) and look at all of the gun positions as well as the fantail where the float planes were launched/recovered. Visitors may climb the superstructure up to the 0-8 level (7 decks above the main deck). Many of the interior spaces have been restored and are accessible: interior gun mounts; ammunition and powder magazines and elevators; galley, mess-decks; officers’ staterooms and wardroom; enlisted berthing spaces; Marine Detachment quarters; etc. Several compartments have been converted to serve as small displays for: scale models of the Alabama and other warships; Japanese and U.S. weapons; history of the battleship; Military Officers of note; notable Alabama veterans, etc. It took me approximately 2 hours to make my way through the battleship and I only read a fraction of the informative placards.
5. USS Drum SS-228 (Gato Class submarine)
5.a. Laid Down (construction began). September 1940.
5.b. Commissioned. November 1941.
5.c. De-commissioned. February 1946.
5.d. Stricken. June 1968
5.e. Ownership of ship transferred to the state of Alabama. April 1969.
5.f. Ship arrived in Mobile, Alabama. May 1969.
5.g. Opened to the public as a museum ship. July 1969
5.h. Designated as a National Historic Landmark. 1986
5.i. Active in the World War II Pacific theater of operations 1941-1946.
5.j. She is on a cradle on the land and the entire sub is open to the public.
5.k. The tour begins by entering the forward torpedo room and continues the length of the ship to the aft torpedo room. All spaces (berthing, galley, mess-decks, wardroom, operations, mechanical, and conning tower) have been restored very well; most can be entered by museum visitors but others have plexiglass across them to permit viewing but not entry. It should be noted that you will need to negotiate a number of stairs to get to the top of the sub; to enter, you will need to walk down more stairs. Once inside, all of the spaces are on one level (except for the conning tower) but you will need to negotiate small, constrained hatches that connect each compartment. It took approximately 45 minutes to make my way through the sub.
6. Indoor aircraft pavilion. Approximately 40,000 square feet. There are several aircraft from World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and Cold War. They are all in superb condition. My only critical comment for this area is that there are very few informative placards on the aircraft. Below is a partial list of the aircraft.
6.a. Douglas AD-4 Skyraider. Korean War and Vietnam War ground attack aircraft. This aircraft was a flying tank!
6.b. Vought OS-2U Kingfisher. World War II float plane. Routinely carried aboard cruisers and battleships. This type of aircraft was used to: conduct anti-submarine patrols; rescue downed aircrewmen; and to spot/adjust naval gunfire.
6.c. North American B-25 Mitchell. World War II medium bomber. This was the type of aircraft used in the famous Doolittle Raid on Tokyo in April 1942.
6.d. McDonnel-Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. Cold War and Vietnam War era carrier-based light ground attack aircraft.
6.e. Grumman A-6 Intruder. Cold War and Vietnam era carrier-based medium ground attack aircraft.
7. Outdoor exhibits. There are quite a few artillery pieces, armored vehicles, tanks and aircraft.
8. Details of my visit
8.a. Date & Time. Wednesday 7 December 2022 (anniversary of Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor) – morning through afternoon.
8.b. Other patrons. The museum was not very crowded (only 8 groups of 2-6 people).
8.c. Length of visit. I was at the ship for 3 hours in the morning, and then for 1 ½ hours after lunch.
9. Location. I plugged the address in to my iPhone and it took me directly there.
10. Access
10.a. Passenger vehicles. The parking lot can be accessed by any type of passenger vehicle. There are plenty of parking spaces.
10.b. Buses and RVs. The parking lot is very large; I consider it to be easily accessible. I recommend looking at the site on Bing or Google Maps to confirm.
11. Parking. $ 5.00; the parking lot is paved and very large.
12. Admission. Check the museum’s website. Be aware of how much it costs to maintain and improve an attraction of this magnitude.
13. Hours of operation. Check the museum’s website for current information.
14. Handicap access. The aircraft pavilion is accessible. The submarine is not. The ship’s main deck is accessible. The above and below decks are not accessible; this requires climbing up and down quite a few steep, narrow ladderwells.
15. Child friendliness. I would consider that the museum is child-friendly but did not see any interactive/hands-on exhibits. Be advised that it may not be safe to climb ladderwells while holding children.
16. Permissions/prohibitions
16.a. Weapons. I do not recall seeing any prohibitive placards; I recommend checking their website or calling if this a concern.
16.b. Photography. Photography is permitted.
16.c. Pets and service animals. Pets are not permitted; I would imagine that legitimate service animals are permitted.
16.d. Food and drinks. I did not see any prohibitive signs but I would imagine that food and drinks are not permitted but bottled water should be permitted.
17. Type/nature of visit. Visitors may conduct un-guided tours; I do not know if guided tours are available; consider calling the museum or checking their website.
18. Amenities.
18.a. Restrooms. Restrooms are available in the indoor aircraft pavilion and aboard the battleship.
18.b. Water fountains. Water fountains are available in the indoor aircraft pavilion.
18.c. Climate control. The aircraft pavilion is climate-controlled. It appears that some spaces aboard the battleship are air-conditioned. I do not believe any areas of the submarine are air conditioned.
18.d. Food & beverages. There is a snack adjacent to the gift store but it was not open on the day of my visit.
18.e. Gift shop. The museum has a fairly-large gift shop that has items oriented toward children and adults.
19. Conclusion. This museum is definitely worth visiting if you are in the area and is worth a weekend trip even if you are not in the area...especially when combined with nearby Fort Gaines and Fort Morgan.

A fantastic piece of history. Wide variety of aircraft, tanks, plus the USS Drum and USS Alabama. Both ships were well maintained and excellent attention to detail was paid in creating a lived-in experience in each compartment. Excellent information and signage were present to give details on each point of interest. It felt as though the entire relevant parts of the ship were open to exploration. I have been on Missouri, Iowa, and New Jersey previously and this was the most memorable experience of the four battleships. I highly recommend spending the better part of a day here.

Everyone that can partake in this adventure should. So much to see. Hard to believe it's privately funded. Was much more than I anticipated.

Extensive collection of military equipment with the Alabama as the center piece. Also has an impressive group of planes and army vehicles. Some of the plaques identifying the vehicles outside were missing but most in good condition. Also the submarine uss Drum was almost as interesting as the Alabama. Allow more time than you think, this is a large exhibit.

We just paid an admission of $5 to get into the park. We had our dog with so we didn't buy tickets to tour the ship interior. But I would note that there are kennels available for dogs if we had decided to tour the ship. We enjoyed our walked around the exhibits and memorials located throughout the park and the walk down the pier. It is a beautiful park. I have no doubt that the ship would have been a good tour also.

Since the first I had heard of this historical ship which was in 1963, I have wanted to travel to see it. It has been on my "bucket list" for a very long time, and I finally got there! I was awe struck! There is more than just the ship , museum, a submarine "The Drum" and other military vehicles and planes. My biggest complaint was having to climb all the stairs, but I knew that would be there. And more air conditioning was needed. I did travel there during a heatwave , so keep in mind that the South does have intense heat/humidity during the summer time.

This park is well worth the price of admission. We were on a tight schedule, so only spent a couple hours checking out all levels of the battleship, but you can easily spend a whole day checking out the battleship, submarine, planes and other aircraft on this property.
The ship is well-marked and you are provided with self-guiding tour handout that helps explain what you are seeing. Also there are many interpretive plaques and signs for rooms and exhibits to help explain their role, how the rooms were used, etc. Also, there were docents in several areas of the ship to help answer any questions visitors may have. We would have stayed longer to check out the exterior of the battleship, but did not due to heavy rain.

I was pretty excited to see the USS Alabama and all the rest that the site has to offer and I was let down. There are quite a few planes, ships and other military items around. There is a hangar and then two outside attractions: the drum and the Alabama.
First off it costs money just to have the honor of parking your car at the site. Then you pay another fee to take the tour. Overall, it quickly becomes the most expensive site you will see in the Mobile area. They are also very happy to tell you, as many times as they can, that they are not funded by the government so need donations. There are donation boxes about every 100 feet or less. It is a bit disgraceful, especially the war memorials. You walk up to a memorial with all the flags worn and tattered. Next to a worn out US flag is a collection box saying they need your donation to fix it. Enough people come through the site every day that the parking fee alone for one day is enough to replace all the flags.
The tour of the Alabama is extremely confusing as there are at least 10 "tour starts here signs". The tour is not for those with mobility issues either, which is never stated anywhere.
I am very disappointed I wasted my time and money here. Just take a picture from the road and keep moving.

Wonderful piece of history that highlights the bravery and ingenuity of the American people. Wear good walking shoes as the surfaces are uneven and can be slippery. Lots of stairways (ladders) to climb up and down and small spaces to enter. Lots of information and tons of planes and other military equipment around the grounds. Did not go into the sub but it was open also.

Went as part of a reunion for the USS Sunfish SSN649. Had a Memorial Service for or lost brothers then lunch. The hanger is well laid out and the signage is well done. Great recovery after Katrina. The USS Drum is small compared to the USS Sunfish but educational. The USS Alabama had several tour routes to pick from all you can tour the entire ship. Definitely worth a visit!

The Battleship USS Alabama is a great ship to tour with children, especially from about age 10 to 14. They can appreciate the size of the ship by walking through the entire ship- plan about 2 hours. the adjoining aircraft pavilion can add another hour if you take the time to read about the various aircraft.

We loved our visit to the USS Alabama. We were attending a conference and decided to check it out since nearly everyone in our party had some ties to the military academic-wise. What a treat. Best of all was seeing so many kinds of people visit this facility and everyone was made welcome. I love my country and so glad we can share our shared history!

A lot to see and a lot of history to absorb. Besides the ship, there is also a submarine, a museum, a gift shop, and lots of aircraft to see.

An absolute treasure for State of Alabama and for our country. We were blown away by the presentation inside and out. The self-guided tour of the battleship USS Alabama and the submarine, USS Drum were informative, interactive and well presented.
As a proud American, it really makes you appreciate the sacrifices of our men and women who served in the armed services in defense of this nation. There were even retired Navy and Air Force personnel onboard to impart their stories in action.
Don’t miss this destination and give yourself plenty of time to see it all. Four hours at a minimum.

Lots of access to different parts of the ship so it was interesting even if you've visited other similar exhibits.
3 color trails to follow, but only one (red?) was well marked to follow. We never found the beginning of either of the other 2, although we occasionally crossed their path.
Nice submarine exhibit as well, and aviation hangar. Great gift shop!

There are a lot of things going on here and the battleship is just one. With the airplanes and armored vehicles, you can spend a lot of time immersed in our country's military history.

The museum was great! They have the USS Drum, the USS Alabama, and numerous airplanes! It takes a while to explore.
The sun was easy tour. There is one way in, one way out. The sub has been there since 1969. It has head space and aisles are walkable straight on so you don’t have to side step. There are numerous port holes which are a tighter fit. Not too claustrophobic for those wondering. Well marked inside for what you are seeing.
The Alabama has yellow tour (outside), green which is more middle of ship, and red which is lowest part of ship. All are included in ticket price. Follow the numbered arrows and pick up your guide. Things are marked but the guide has so much more.
Outside is cool with access to the bridge, most of the deck, inside turrets, and more.
In the ship gets hot but there is some AC and lots of fans. There are many doors to pass through but much easier than those on the sub.
You really get the feel for what it was like living on the ship. They have mannequins all over representing various crew.
There is history lessons on top deck and awards. There is the Evans room which is somber and a room listing all of those aboard the USS Alabama. Much of the ship is seeing engine rooms, torpedo storage, mess hall, hospital, living quarters, engineer space, communications stations, and more.
Kids and adults will both enjoy. Not great for wheelchairs and strollers because of all the stairs to see parts if ship and the port hole doors. Some of the stairs are steep and narrow. I had small backpack and had to remove it to climb some stairs.
Go and enjoy! Bring water bottle.

Fun experience for the whole family. We were there for 2.5 hours and didn’t see everything. Also had a nursing room which was really convenient.

I'm a old Tin-Can sailor (look it up) lol I loved it and it brought back a lot of memories good and bad. The ship is a fine example of a real Naval fighting lady. I wish they offered guided tours but I understand the cost. The tour paper was a big help. The park as a whole was great and the "Oath" statue of the young man swearing into service struck a cord. It reminded me of me at 17 going into the Navy. Well worth the price. We need more things like this in our country.

Fantastic experience...our teenage daughter even thoroughly enjoyed herself. We were able to navigate the ship easily in a couple hours. Highly recommend.

We had a awesome time. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It is a self tour so you van take all the time you want on the ship and take all the pictures you want.

They did a good job with the museum and the tour of the ship. It is a very unique experience to see almost every detail of the battleship.

My BFF and I visited both the battleship and the submarine for the first time. Although the drive off of I-10 was a little crazy, the visit itself was worth it. Neither of us had ever visited a warship before and it was exciting to see one in person. We were pleasantly surprised to see it was more than we were expecting. There were different memorials, aircrafts and lots of education to be learned.
Remember to bring 2 quarters and a penny for their penny press!
My favorite part were the restrooms located on the battleship. Even though it's a battleship, someone thoughtfully designed the bathrooms with the Thick Thigh Society in mind. Thank you to whoever thought to put the toilet paper up higher than the toilet itself.

All I can say is wow!! There is a small fee to park (I hate when places make you pay to park to pay to enter...grrrr), anyway....after purchasing your ticket you can walk through a hanger of sorts with all kinds of aircraft and other vehicles. There are exhibits about a variety of topics from WWI to POWs. That alone is worth the price of admission. Then you go out to the battleship itself. What an amazing piece of machinery. The history that took place on it came alive as I walked through the decks to see how the men lived during WWII. It definitely gives a deeper sense of appreciation for what they did to preserve our freedom.

We stopped by and spent over 3 hours at this great museum. The submarine is a good place to start but beware it does have narrow passageways and doors it is a submarine after all lol. The hangar has a little bit of everything then you move on to the USS Alabama. It is huge and follow the colors start with yellow 1 and then go to green then red. Ask the guys working on the ship and sub questions odds are they served on one like it at some point. We did and were amazed at the stories we heard from the sub and battleship.

Everything was enjoyable. I had not been since I was real young. Everything there is amazing to look at. The planes in the building are worth the cost to get in

This was my 2nd or 3rd time there but it was the 12 y/o's first time. It was a beautiful day with a breeze blowing which helped up keep up with the climbing up and down and not dying.
He had a blast and we even did the VR ride together before the tour. He loved the massive guns and the size of the ship but was not a fan of the narrow passages. A super king size person would have issues. Our goal was to make it top the top and we made it. What a view!
Overall, it was still a cool experience.

We had an absolutely wonderful time! There was so much to see. It kept all ages entertained from age 2 to adult! We were able to walk through everything in about two hours.

Very worthwhile and a good family activity when in Mobile. Cost 1-21 is $15 per adult and $13 per senior. $2 off certificates are available at thy.e visitor center on I-10 as you enter the area from the east. In addition to the USS Alabama battleship a submarine is available to tour. A number of period airplanes are on display. Due to high contact areas encountered while touring the ship and sub I recommend taking disposable gloves. Masks are required.
In Biloxi this was a planned side thip
Worth the time to visit. Expect to spend around 3 hours. Besides Battleship there is a submarine, and various other military equipment.
