Visiting the USS Arizona Memorial is very humbling and very interesting. We have been several times and it is still a wonderful experience.

A short trip with a magnificent view over Honolulu. Lots of informations tables with historical, geographical and geological info.
Remember to book ahead of the hike.

No words needed . Very informative a must when visiting Hawaii.
Learnt a lot from the tour . Museums a must as well . Not too busy either .

Very informative and fun experience, we had a very good time with the marines and all the staff, very organized and clean.

You cannot skip visiting the museum and Arizona memorial. We were there on a sunny morning, and it felt as if you could see the bombers coming in. Tragic and inspiring. The museum is well done and will take a good amount of time. It is WELL worth your time.

Our day at the Pearl Harbor area was one of the highlights for this trip. Special appreciation goes to the staff and founders of the USS Arizona Memorial. I feel privileged to visit this memorial and observe the reverence shown.

A must do if you are visiting Pearl Harbor. Book tickets in advance online through the official government website, as tickets can sell out quickly. Tickets are free but have a $1 each booking fee.
They show you a quite old introduction video in the theatre before you board the boat to the memorial. We visited on a perfectly calm day. People were very respectful once on the memorial, moving around slowly and staying quiet. You only get 10 minutes on the memorial which goes very quickly.

Visited the memorial and then watched the 20-min movies about the history of the start of war between the US and Japan. Recommend the movie before or after the visit to the memorial. It starts on 15th and 45th minute of each out. Very important to watch to understand the entire story and see the Arizona ship from the top - puts things in perspective. We were all moved by this memorial and even the leaking oil that makes things real. Tearjerker.

Pearl Harbor was one of the sites I most wanted on my first trip to Hawaii. WWII history is my passion and I had recently read "At Dawn We Slept," the exhaustive account of the attack. The Arizona Memorial seemed THE "must do" site at Pearl Harbor. I was much less impressed and moved by my memorial experience than I had anticipated and am noting that here so others have expectations set correctly and are prepared.
One can and should buy tickets well in advance. At the time of writing one does so at recreation.gov. The fee is nominal. If one is planning a trip after advance tickets have sold out (as I was), one can try to book tickets when additional tickets are made available at 3pm (local time) the day before. Those tickets sell quickly. We were ready to order tickets at 3pm, we wanted AM tickets, but we only managed to get PM tickets.
When we got to Pearl Harbor a little after the park opened, I asked a ranger for help planning our day. I'm glad I did that. She noted that it was a bit windy that day, and the park often cancels the boat trips to the ArizonaMemorial in the afternoon on windy days. Sure enough, they did cancel all afternoon trips to the memorial that day. She advised us to go "stand by" for the tour to the memorial first thing that morning to avoid missing out. We went standby and did get a slot on one of the first boats. Later that day, I met a group of Pearl Harbor enthusiasts who had planned to spend the entire day at Pearl Harbor, from opening to closing. They also had PM tickets and had not gotten the helpful advice I got. They were very disappointed not to have been able to see the memorial when afternoon boats were all canceled. I felt badly for them. The whole ticket booking/standby experience can be a bit unclear and stressful - and I feel that part of the experience can take away from what should be a solemn/moving experience.
One only gets about 10 minutes on the memorial. The boat pulls up to it. You and the others on your boat are herded onto and along one side of the memorial. Another boatload of people stands along the other side of the memorial waiting to board the boat back. On the memorial one hurries along one side, seeing the parts of the USS Arizona that are above water, and into a room at the far end of the memorial where one hears a short presentation about the memorial. Then one is herded back along the other side for the boat trip back. The very large number of people crowded onto the memorial, the short time allocated, the need to keep moving...all that took also took away from the solemnity.
When one Google searches the memorial, one sees dramatic photos from overhead that show the entire top of the ship visible just below the water. However, when we were on the memorial, the water was not transparent and one could only see the few parts that were above the surface of the water. Perhaps there is better clarity on days with less wind; but I had expected more of the ship would be visible.
It feels unpatriotic to write an "average" review of a site that is sacrosanct. I don't intend this review to diminish the tragedy of lives sacrificed and the high importance of memorializing the event. My own expectations for how I would experience the memorial proved too high, and I hope this review helps you set yours more accurately.
I found listening to some of the quotes in the audio tour and reading about some of the personal stories much more moving than the memorial visit itself (with stressful/confusing ticket purchasing and a rushed, crowded, "herded" trip on the memorial).

Excellent. A must see during your trip to Oahu. Truly a surreal experience. There is about a 25 minute documentary after the visit to the memorial - highly recommend.

This is a must visit if you are in Oahu. Pay your respects to the men lost and take in the energy above the ships remains. Be respectful and remember that this is a grave site.

What a great memorial to the poor man that died on that day, very thoughtful of the memory of those that passed away in battle for their country.

The boat ride to the memorial is short, but the exhibits on the mainland make up for it, plus a brief talk by an onsite ranger makes it worth the trip. The exhibits really do a good job of bringing alive the events preceding, leading up to, and following the attack on Pearl Harbor.

I have to relate this experience as very poor because, due to wind, it didn’t happen. It would be reasonable, I believe, for someone to contact reservation holders, by text, that boats are not going to the memorial, due to wind. This would give us a chance to reorganize our schedules and attempt to book a reservation on another day. Poor execution by the system, I would say!

We really wanted to see the Arizona on our trip. But the tickets were a bear to get. The government tourist site has them advertised that they are released at 3pm each day for the following day, but that didn't work for us. After trying at exactly 3pm a couple days, we ended up going in early to go as "Standby" - It worked, and the visit was good.

Do not buy tickets to this through any company. They are over priced. Buy tickets once you get to the memorial. I paid “Karma Tours”(who is offered through Trip Advisor) $170.00 for a tour. My original tour was booked for 10:30am, they switched everything around and my tour was then 1:30pm. I tried to get a refund from both Karma tours and trip advisor with neither of them helping in anyway shape or form. Terrible customer service. Anyways, I had a driver pick me up from a pick up point away from my hotel in a van, along with about 25 other people. He then brought us into the site and basically dropped us off saying feel free to explore on our own for 2 hours. Bus leaves at ____ time. That $170.00 only covered a tour of the USS Arizona. No other tours (which btw that tour is FREE). Only buy once you get to Pearl Harbor don’t bother going through a “tour” company. On another note viewing the USS Arizona is very humbling and was a great experience in itself.

Part of full day including visitor centre, submarine and US Missouri this was a thoughtful trip around the past nowhere commercialised as I thought it would be. Our tour was run by ex military who gave excellent facts and experiences for the whole day out. For a man of a certain age for this was not history when at school but a recent memory this was a fantastic insight.

Fortunately, by chance, I learned in advance that you need a ticket for this Memorial. Understand you can visit the USS Arizona Memorial for free. The day before you want to visit go to recreation.gov, create an account and promptly at 3pm select your tickets. This will provide a free boat ride to and from the memorial. If you are unable to secure tickets this way, you may walk in and wait in line for an available opening. Best option is to go to the same website at least a month in advance and secure the ticket that way. For all options you will only pay $1 per ticket.
I just visited the Memorial this week and walked away not only humbled but with an understanding of why, how and the effects on the world. It should in my opinion be a requirement for all high school students to visit.
To quote President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Bill of Rights Day, November 27, 1941 - “Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy forget in time that men have died to win them.” Sad that so many in our world today want to destroy history.
Personally, I don’t feel it is a place to bring young children. Ideal age would be the teenage years. Young children will not understand, may be disruptive and impatient.

Amazing, historical location that is a must see in Oahu. May we never forget what happened to our military and civilians.

This memorial to our Sailors, Airmen and all those who perished, were injured or were there helping that fateful day is a humbling, heartbreaking and one of the most beautiful places honoring our servicemen and women. DO NOT MISS THIS if you ever have the opportunity to be in Hawai'i.

The visit to the memorial was very moving. The ranger shared information about the site with visitors and made this visit something I won't forget

Incredible lesson of history and the importance of this golden anchor vessel. You learn the history of the vessel including a Kamikaze hitting the deck and the Japanese signing the peace treaty with who was on board. Also explains the history of the ship during Operation Desert Storm. The power of this vessel is simply incredible.

Joined the standby line and we were on our way out to the memorial within 10 minutes. A very serene memorial with outstandingly knowledgeable rangers who actively engage with the public. The 1/2 recording after the visit gives a great brief overview of the faithful events of that day in Dec 1941.

One of the most beautiful memorials I've seen. It's location within the Pearl Harbor bay and snow white color in contrast with blue sea around is really eye catching.
Make your reservation online for a 1$ fee to avoid queuing in the stand by line.
Have in mind the time on your ticket is the time of the boat departure, so you need to be 10-15 min earlier onsite.
The whole visit lasts around 45 min with transport there and back. At the memorial you're about to spend 15 min which is quite enough. It is built right above the wreckage and you see the ship beneath you.
At memorial's far end is the remembrance wall with all the victim names inscribed.
Below it, on two smaller side stones are the names of the attack survivors who passed away over the decades later. Their ashes are also placed in the wreckage what you can learn at the plaque at the memorial.

Site worth the trip... a moving visit .....the memorial of the USS Arizona is simple and classic.
The film at the visitor center tells a good story of what happened.
You must go there during a stay on Oahu.

This was a must see on our bucket list. Because tickets sell out quickly, make sure you have them booked in advance or you probably won’t get on the ferry ride to the USS Arizona Memorial. There is a stand by line that people wait in for a chance to get on if there is space. But, on the day we were there all tickets were sold out and our boat was full capacity.
The tour was very informative and we felt honoured to be there. Everyone was quiet and respectful of the soldiers buried. The wall with all their names brought tears to my eyes. Looking down at the rusted parts of the ship and seeing the oil still coming to the surface from the sunken ship was definitely an eerie sight.

Very good tour to the memorial. Look at the wall of names carefully. I found my family name and possibly at relative who was on the Arizona.

A must-see for anyone visiting the island. Be sure to purchase your tickets ahead of time using the .gov website to insure a seat to the USS Arizona.

Learned and saw alot of interesting info about Pearl Harbor. Very touching and recommend that everyone see it. Seeing the ship was amazing as well.

Every American should visit. Simple as that. This park is very well done and there is really nothing that can prepare you for it. Very well done by Park Rangers and Volunteers.

Really nice memorial, although I think they could’ve done more with how we view the ship, it’s kind of just a platform and you can see like a tiny part of ship which isn’t that great. Kinda underwhelming experience also the area on land was really lacking in shaded places to sit. I also think they could do with having a cafe or restaurant of some kind as there’s nowhere to really get food. Other than that it was nice and very educational.

We took in the solemn facts of the events. We had gotten the narrative headset from trip advisor with admission. We had also gotten the separate tickets from recreation.gov for $1.00 each, to go on the boat to the Arizona Memorial. It was incredibly easy and fast to gain access and enjoy our day at our pace.

Awful service. Plus you have to reserve ahead of time and pay for the tour and parking. Not worth it

The audio experience was awful. Most of the time the numbers on the experience did not correspond with audio, and often the audio just would not come on. We complained when we returned the devices, but did not get any remedy.

Great information. Loved going at my own pace. It was very hot the day we went and there were very few seats in the shade. With the number of seniors that might be something for the park to consider.

Excellent tour and on my bucket list . Needed another 1/2 hour to go through ship as getting lunch took up most of the time .

This place is a must to visit when in Oahu. The opportunity to visit and show our respects was a must for me. The way they present this memorial is perfect and very respectful to the men/women who lost their lives on this sad day in our history.

I didn’t get a chance to see this memorial, because the boat was not constructed to move well in windy weather. The people scheduled to do this event were frustrated, waiting lines were long, missing their scheduled appointment. We were told to possibly reschedule, no refunds. I am going home I can’t rescheduled. Maybe build a boat to handle a little wind.

The entire experience was emotional & inspiring. The museum was historical for background and takes you back to a different time when the Nation pulled together. The Navy boat that took you out to the Arizona memorial was, as could be expected, professional. The back wall with all the names of those who lost their lives was sobering .
There were quite a number of Japanese on the tour…one can only imagine what were their thoughts.

Not a hard hike. Great views! Lots of resting spots and places to take photos. Interesting history. Worth the climb. Bring a water bottle and wear sneakers and light clothes for hiking.

I missed the story behind. Not all are from US. We were just dropped there without no explanation except to be quite out of respect. Maybe showing respect would be some explanation of what are we visiting, who were the people on board, what was the ship for ect.

Every American needs to come and pay their respects on this sacred ground. Not only is there the memorial, there are great museums and for an extra charge, The USS Missouri, that can be toured,as well. The staff are helpful and friendly!

Visiting Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial should be on everyone’s list, especially if you go to Hawaii. It is such an important part of USA and world history. The experience itself while on the USS Arizona memorial was very moving and solemn. The ferry ride getting to the memorial was fun as well. The only thing that was confusing and frustrating was booking the ferry ride since the tickets sell off so far in advance, but they also keep some tickets to be sold the day prior to each ferry ride. I was pretty confident if I log in at the exact time they release tickets I can definitely get some, but I was so wrong - within seconds they were sold out which means the only option is to show up very early for standby tickets which means taking a chance….
If they come up with a better way of selling tickets the experience would be better

This was my third time in 30 plus years to come visit the Arizona Memorial. Each time it is bigger and better than the time before. The museum with the artifacts, models, and films are great. It is very sobering when you look down into the water onto the deck of the USS Arizona. The audio tour was well worth the cost. It is well narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis. Enjoyable day learning about that terrible day in US history on December 7, 1941.

This is a must for any one visiting Hawaii, it is very important for Americans to know and understand their history, sadly many don't and treat these places like Disney world

Your people should be present at the site to help facilitate the program. We paid you for a non service! No one was there to help us and as a result, we were not allowed to board the vessel that takes people to the Arizona! A very sad waste of time and money!
Others that use your service, need to know our terrible experience!

This is a must do when visiting Oahu. I went on several times to get a reservation and it is very difficult to get one on their site. Yet, if you go a few minutes before they open, we got in right away. The staff told us that they are gobbled up quickly and they know that a lot of times it is a tour company so they open a lot of tickets now to the public the day of.

I did this hike by myself and had a great time. It was easy to reserve the narration tour, easy to pick up the equipment. (they do ask for you to leave a driver's license or credit card with them as collateral for the equipment... they give it back to you upon return). It's a phone on a lanyard you can put around your neck so your hands are free to take pictures. All of the information was really great to learn about. I saw several of the birds listed on the "watch for" list along with a mongoose that ran right across the sidewalk near the visitors center. It wasn't as hard of a climb as I thought it would be (I'm not in the greatest of physical fitness!) and there are several places along the way to sit and rest or just take in the beauty. My suggestion is to get there early 6-7 am so that you can see the sunrise and beat the heat!

We went aug 20 on a Sunday, got there at 10:30 we walked around tying to figure it out didn't have any tickets. We went right into the standby line it was not that busy, got right in BUT make sure you no which door to go through. One on left is movie the one on right is the uss Arizona please pay attention with that nobody was there to guide you. We ended following the ppl heading i to the movie and realized that wasnt right so went and asked and it was the one on the right so its all confusing. But didn't have any problem's with getting on right away. Do that first then check out next every thing else.... Everything else costs money to see but well worth it. When you check out the sub make sure you ask for the guided tour its just a little device you get around your neck and ear pieces that you here and changes by itself when going through the sub on its own .after outside you plug in the numbers and it tells you about it. They didn't ask us we asked them what they where for so just pay attention and then there is a 3rd guided tour but we didn't do thst because we where so hot by then we just walked snd read that section. But be prepared to be there all day looking listening and reading... hope this helps someone when we went it was so confusing we purchased all the tickets there. Arizona didnt need it if in standby line.

Even though I have ancestors who lived though this catastrophic event , it is hard to take it all in and understand the enormity of the event that the Arizona commemorates. Recommend watching the park service film and look at the other films in preparation. And always remember that this is a cemetery for young men in an innocent era, who had no part in the planning of the world's destructive wars.

It is worth visiting this burial site for all the men who lost their lives, and those who survived but have been chosen to have their ashes put in with their mates who died. All the names are displayed on an honour roll on a wall inside the memorial. A sobering reminder of the result of the desire of power, hatred, greed, war. It has been well done, and if you visit the battle ship Missouri you can understand the utter horror of what faced those trapped inside.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This place is incredibly informative! My kids had an absolute blast and couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It's definitely a must-go for families looking for both fun and educational experiences.

Every American should go here to remember what these brave men gave for this country! They gave their lives during an attack of an undeclared war!

Visiting the Arizona Memorial was a moving experience for my family. Our only regret was that the tour we took was too short to allow a visit to see the battleship Missouri.

I have been here twice now, the first time there was an internment, (never held a salute for so long in my life), both times there is a solemnity that permeates the memorial. I salute my fallen comrades in arms.

I was in awe of this beautiful memorial. Before we headed to it, a ranger let people know how they should behave, and I really appreciated his talk. When we arrived, I felt people had listened to the ranger and were solemn and respectful, which made the experience better for everyone. I was so moved by the plaque that had the names of men who survived who chose to be buried back with their crew mates. The last man listed was buried back in 2021! That means he may have only been 18 years old in 1941 and carried Pearl Harbor with him his whole life. It makes me cry whenever I think of that. My dad was in the Navy during WWII (not in Hawaii), so the memorial meant so much to me. I told one of the sailors about my dad, and he asked if I wanted a hug. I said, Yes! He said he was glad my dad made it out. I just loved the entire experience of the USS Arizona Memorial.

It was a nice tour. Enjoyable to learn the history of 12/7. Very sad day in the history of WW Ii. The grounds were well kept and beautiful. Nice gift shop.

Unbelievable and sobering. Due to a change in our schedule, we had to change the date of our visit and no longer had reservations for the ferry shuttle to the memorial. We arrived early and immediately got in line of the standby land. We were able to get on the second shuttle of the day. One of our children was temporarily in a wheelchair due to an injury and the crew could not be more accommodating. This is an absolute must see when visiting Pearl Harbor. Remember to go onto Recreation.gov well prior to your visit to try to get a reservation for the USS Arizona Memorial ferry shuttle. If you aren't lucky enough to get a reservation prior, go early to the park and get into the standby line before it gets crazy long.

We did not want to join a tour to visit the Arizona Memorial so about a month before our trip, I bought tickets on recreation.gov for the 2:15pm boat ($1 each person). However, I read that in cases of high winds, the visits are canceled because the boats do not run. And that usually happens in the afternoon if it occurs. So, the day before our planned visit, we bought tickets again at 3pm (Hawaiian time) for an 8:45am slot. The 75 slots for each time went quickly.
When we arrived for our time slot, they had room for people on standby. Maybe March is a slower tourist season. Our boat was not full.
Being on the Arizona Memorial is an experience I would definitely recommend. Seeing the sunken ship with oil still floating on the surface is something you will never forget. You only get about 10-15 minutes at the memorial, just enough time for the next boat to arrive. When it arrives, you have to leave while everyone on that boat gets to visit the memorial.

Purchased tickets. Went and it was canceled due to wind. It was blowing about 5mph. Found out after paying $7 to park. Looked around at the other stuff there. It was nice and informational. My teenager even enjoyed it. Said we could come back to use out tickets within 7 days. Went back 3 days later. Ready to load the boat and they canceled again due to weather. This was 40 minute drive from our resort not to mention paying for parking multiple times. So, it was disappointing that we didn’t get to do the boat ride. The place overall was very nice.

Great place we enjoyed learning things we didn’t know. Very interesting. The place is very clean and you can go on your own with the headsets in the language you choose.

Learnt a lot and it was a very memorable experience. Recommend booking for the USS Arizona boat trip which was very moving.

One of the most sacred places an American could go. We got to memorial early and we’re some of the first to boat over to the Arizon.

Wonderful experience for everyone. Just know that you cannot take ANYTHING onto the grounds larger than a wallet. No purses, backpacks, diaper bags, camera bags. Only the items you need. Bottles, loose diapers and wipes. We were not told this in advance. There are lockers that you can rent. But it is worth the visit.

If you are desperately wanting to view this to pay your respects, free up your entire schedule and book daily to attend - as the wind stopped us seeing it. Very disappointing. I think they need to consider designing a better way to view the memorial as people travel from all over the world to see this and “high winds” stopped all afternoon tours that day. Hawaii is an island, wind is frequent and inevitable. Book a morning, wind isn’t always up in the mornings.

We enjoyed all of Pearl Harbor. It was wonderful to visit the USS Arizona Memorial. Only downside we had was that time on the memorial was limited to 10-15 minutes. Understandably so as the memorial is busy and a relatively small space, however would have enjoyed spending more time at the memorial. Was a good experience even for those who might not be the biggest history buff.

We booked directly through NPS.
We followed advice to arrive at least one hour before for parking and bag check which was enough time but not a lot of time to look around the rest of the area before the tour. There is a lot to see before the Arizona.
Bag check has a fee so avoid bringing a bag if you can or prepare to pay the fee.
When you book the Arizona they say to arrive 10 mins before the booking time. We were literally yelled at that we were late and our spots were probably taken because we arrived at 11:52 instead of 11:50am. My 77-year-old-veteran father was appalled being treated in this way.
The movie is not actually part of tour. You have to organise yourself to watch it before your ferry departure. It starts on the 15 and 45 of each hour. Leave enough time to watch it before you go. We thought the booking time would’ve included watching the movie first and then going on the ferry to the memorial. Not so. It’s unclear where to go for the movie - it’s virtually the same queue as the ferry.
Don’t book the 12pm Arizona time slot. We were told when we were loading onto the ferry that this is the Navy lunchtime (who operate the ferry) so they’ll be aiming to give us 10 mins on the Arizona and then return us on the ferry so they could go to lunch. It was not enough time to even listen to the audio tour content let alone really take in the memorial. It was a real shame for us to be rushed back.
IMO the audio tour was a waste of money. The info provided by the guide who came with us to the memorial and the visual content in the museum area were great. Some may like the celebrity narrated audio though.
The actual experience of the memorial is somber and very worthwhile. Hopefully you get to spend more than 10 minutes there to take it all in!

It's worth knowing the memorial and the story that happened at Pearl Harbor.
Entrance is free, but we recommend booking a tour

We went on 2012 to Oahu with our daughter SIL & 4 year old grandson, who behaved very well during all our excursions. Booking at our hotel was very affordable & convenient since the tour bus picked us up there. The Arizona Memorial is very difficult to describe since it’s a very emotional experience seeing first hand what those very brave young men did by making the ultimate sacrifice

Never miss this when in Oahu. An honorable tribute to our fallen heroes. Very organized tour. Salute to the park ranger assigned to the Arizona Memorial- he made sure that this burial site will be respected in every way.

Beautifully created and respectful. Could have used a little longer time at the memorial but all in all, a lovely experience. The film is a must do to learn about the history of the event.

Was conned into booking by the hotel concierge. Did research, cancelled my booking and went early. In person booking process is simple. Tour operators run a scam and their bots grab all tickets in milliseconds from recreation.gov- government should put an end to this practice- they charge almost $200 for a reservation to transport you to a park that is free. This is an important place and should be prevented from being exploited by crooks. Got in the queue (enter name and mobile # at Kiosk and they text you) at 7:30am, were on the boat by 9:30am- plenty to see while you wait for the boat. Humbling experience and it is a grave of soldiers who died while serving, so it is not a place to take selfies to post on social media. Lots of exhibits to see, history to learn and pay your respect. Must see, but remember to go early and get in the queue and do not buy any tours- then the tour operators will be out of business.

Words cannot describe the devastation, that took place that day. A must-see visit. USS Missouri and USS Bowfin are also there to see.

I have been respectively looking forward to visiting Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona for several years. Parking for here is $7 and you can pay in the app. NO bags, not even the lululemon fanny packs are allowed inside the grounds, you can either leave it in the car (which there are signs posted saying theres high levels of car break ins here) or pay an additional (I think) $7 to “check” your bag in a locker while you visit. In order to visit the USS Arizona, you need to book tickets/reservations online and in advance otherwise you can wait in lines as a standby but it is difficult to tell how long you will be waiting depending on the crowds. Tickets are $1 each and are available 8 weeks and 24 hours in advance of your desired visit date. Online and in person we were told this would be a 1 hour experience which includes a talk at the beginning, prior to the boat ride the USS Arizona. For our 12pm tour time, we were back and completed with the entire tour by 12:23 pm. We were only given about 15 minutes on the USS Arizona. We were taking our time on the boat, imagining what happened on Dec 7 all those years ago, paying our respects to all those lives lost below. We were looking at the names of those lives lost that day when we were called back to the boat to return, we didn’t get to look at everything or take it all in. I understand it is a final resting place for so many people but I was disappointed that we were rushed in seeing and learning what happened that day, it really is quite a site to see. After the USS Arizona you can walk around outside the Pearl Harbor Grounds and read a little bit more facts and quotes from what happened that day.

Honour the fallen. Pearl Harbour Arizona Memorial is a must to remember the horror of the war, the lives lost and sacrifices made.

What a very moving experience!! Great narrated tour, however the girls at the check in desk were very rude and unhelpful. Once you figure out how the tour works, it was very emotional and well laid out. Definitely worth it to get the boat tickets to go out to see the Arizona after the narrated tour

An emotionally powerful place. First of all, it is a war grave, so all visitors observe respectful silence. For me, the most surprising thing was that even after more than 80 years, oil is still leaking from the sunken ship (and will be for many years to come), forming oil slicks on the surface - the so-called "tears of Arizona". It makes one think that history is still alive and the horrors of war actually happened quite recently - there is still tangible evidence.
You can only get here by boat from the visitor center and will need reservations in advance. It's very well organised, everything runs smoothly. You only spend a few minutes at the memorial, but it's definitely worth it.

The museum was established to tell future generations about the devastation of the U.S. Navy battleship Arizona, which was sunk in the sea with many crew members in the attack on Pearl Harbor by former Japanese forces that sparked the Pacific War.
From the Alamowana Hotel where we were staying, we headed to Pearl Harbor on TheBUS's City Express A (bus #20 42).
All bags and other baggage are prohibited in Pearl Harbor's National Park (smartphones and wallets in your pocket are acceptable), so please leave your baggage at the Pay Baggage Depository. Luggage storage is located further into the restroom building to the right of the Park Gate at the back of the car park.
When you enter Park Gate, there is a ticket office in front of you, but this time I bought a pre-designated ticket online and visited. At the far left of the ticket office is the entrance to the Arizona Memorial Hall tour course.
At the beginning of the tour course, they said they would watch a video about Pearl Harbor, but for some reason they did not watch it that day, and instead the guide explained about 10 minutes.
Then take a boat to the memorial on the sea off the coast of Ford Island.
You land from the pier at the long, narrow white memorial building, below which lies the hull of the battleship Arizona, submerged in the water and lying on the seabed. It is reminiscent of the gigantic battleships of a bygone era, with their round batteries of rusty iron blocks sinking to the seabed and turrets showing up at sea. Even now, they say, heavy oil, which used to be fuel, is leaking out of the hull little by little, but those very oils were floating on the surface.
It breaks my heart to see the number of names of sailors scattered with the ship in the memorial museum.
The stay at the museum was only a little more than 10 minutes, but even that short time was enough to savour the misery of war.

The VR portion of this combo is a waste of time and money. Employee didn’t bother explaining how to adjust headset. Picture was blurry so switched headset and the next one was only slightly better. Very short program. Stick to the audio tour.

This was the highlight of my Hawaii trip. Had my head cover off as few tears rolled down my cheek. This i could go again. The line was 1.5 hrs but worth the wait. Good managed trip.

This review happened in April 2025. My wife and went to Oahu, Hawaii for vacation. We visited the USS Arizona Memorial and Musuem and if you're in Hawaii you have to visit, this location was where the WWII started for the United States and because the USS Missouri is also located in that area it's also the location of where the WWII ended for the United States. It's a somber location and you have to go with the understanding that it's also a graveyard. So be respectful! Silence your cellphone and please if you have kids just remind them to be on their best behavior. There is a museum and a video to watch (I recommend you watch the video and the walk the museum after the boat ride to the USS Arizona Memeorial). There are lots of artifacts to look at and the videos with the survivors are moving. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and there are plenty of bathrooms and even a few snack shacks around. There is even a museum store. The later it gets in the day the busier the memorial becomes so I recommend you go early. You do need a ticket for the boat ride over to the USS Arizona Memorial, so go early or get a ticket head of time. They do run out. I highly recommend you visit; every year we are losing more and more WWII veterans. We have to honor the greatest generation before they are all gone.

This is truly a humbling and somber trip to the National Memorial in Pearl Harbor. You get to appreciate the sacrifices and heroism displayed that fateful day and take time to reflect internally that freedom is not free. Definitely take the opportunity to visit. We did the standby early in the day to avoid congested commute times.

Definitely book ahead of time. There is a time limit there so you can't stay there that long. We did see the oil spots.

The memorial is poignant and a superb tribute to the tragic events and loss of life that occurred. The Navy guides were efficient and professional, however the whole booking process and options for visiting the monument does not properly or clearly explain how to get what you want. Visitors should know that you can actually just turn up at the centre and choose options when they’re rather than paying money for tours that may not be desired. The Navy run ferry to the monument can be booked online via ‘Recreation.com’ but you have to wait until 1500 the previous day, create an account and the tickets all go in minutes! What the online sites don’t tell you, is that you can just turn up and wait in line for a ferry and it’s pretty quick anyway. In fact you don’t need to book anything online. Just turn up and choose what you want to pay for. The kiosk staff are helpful and the lines short. The Arizona Memorial and the submarine Bowfin are both highlights I would say.

Exhilarating VR experience!! The perspectives were so real that I actually found myself reaching for a "railing"! Highly recommend!!

The boat ride ticket to USS Arizona Memorial is $1 per person online. You do have to purchase the ticket way early OR wait until 3 pm the day prior to your visit day to purchase it. They have 75 tickets per time slot but you do have to get on at 3 pm to get them; they were ALL GONE by 3:01 pm. There were people lined up in the StandBy line as well, we were there on a Friday and everyone got on the boat.
It was great to go there and pay respect, you are only allowed to be there for about 15 mins.

It was surreal to be in the same area as the surrender papers were signed and to see the remains of the USS Arizona. So much history there. Even my 11 yr old daughter enjoyed it.

Very beautiful site and place of memory. Activity adjacent to the visit to the USS Missouri. Fuel oil and fuel contained in the ship's cellars are still rising to the surface of the water. And they say that these are the tears of the building!

We just purchased our tickets on the government’s website. So we only paid $1.00. We did our own self guided tour. The Park Rangers are informative and helpful.

History-laden visit to a somber American miltary cemetery beneath the ocean in Pearl Harbor. Hard to put into words the feeling while visiting this memorial, similar to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. My father was in navy in WWII and wounded at D-Day, so I have a familial connection to sailors lost here in 1941. FYI reservations required, and there are more hours of content available on this site in other milatary museums. For us, the USS Arizona visit was quite enough.

i can't wait to go again. i did not have enough time to spend there. it was an amazing experience. god bless all the souls and thank you for giving your all.

An absolute must-do, especially if this is your first visit to O'ahu. The ticket purchasing schedule for the USS Arizona tour can be tricky, so check the park web site for exact purchase dates as soon as you know you plan to go. We went on Memorial Day, and the whole facility was very clean & organized. Parking is scarce, so it's easier to go earlier in the morning if possible. I was very impressed by & appreciative of how easy it was to get an ASL interpreter directly through the park at no cost.

A must to do when in O'ahu. My party did not know about the ability to buy tickets way in advance online, so we tried the day before at 3pm Hawaii time when the tickets for the next day are released.
We managed to get some tickets on the second day trying, but when we went for our 1:45pm reservation time, the boats could not go out to the memorial due to strong winds. They honored our reservation for within 7 days.
The parks and rec website says tour companies do not buy the tickets but that cannot be true, because over 500 tickets sell out in less than 1 minute. When I went a different day to make up for my canceled reservation almost the entire theatre/boat was a single tour group!
Despite this, do not buy tours from companies that advertise the memorial. You're overpaying and contributing to price gouging. The recreation website sells these tickets at $1 per ticket, and they are very accomdating to stand by visitors. I recommend downloading the recreation.gov app and cresting your online account in advance. Do not give up and keep trying for tickets. I managed to get 3 tickets at 3:03pm, so I guess someone else's tickets were released back for purchase because the app had previously said 'sold out' by 3:01pm.
Go early!! July is hurricane season in Hawaii, and the winds were always stronger in the afternoon.

Unique experience. Exciting. In the places of many narratives and films. All extremely nice, aircraft carrier memorial museum

Visiting the Pearl Harbor Memorial is a highlight of our stay. It is a very moving site, full of history, and very well designed. The short introductory film is very informative and helps to better understand the context. The museum is also very well done. Please note that you must book tickets in advance, especially to access the USS Arizona Memorial. Also note: bags are forbidden on the site, and the locker room costs $7. Not to be missed!

Are tour was awesome and are tour guide/shuttle driver Art was absolutely amazing. If you can pick a guide ask for him 🤙

First things first… if you book this tour, be sure to then visit the Hawaii State Parks website to purchase a park ticket as well (only $6.15, which is not included in the price of the Narrated Audio Tour and must be purchased separately online). You need a QR code from Go Hawaii State Parks Reservation that will allow you to enter the park, and then you show your Tripadvisor bar code at the Visitor Center where you will receive the audio tour device after leaving your driver’s license or credit card as collateral.
Now, onto the hike itself… I really enjoyed spending part of the day (only about an hour for me going up and down, not very crowded) getting some exercise with a moderate-level hike and learning about the history of Diamond Head. The device provided is the size of a large mobile phone, and there is no way to connect earbuds to it, but the volume can be adjusted, as necessary. The hike starts off on a paved concrete surface but then quickly turns into an uneven rocky surface for most of the way up, not too difficult, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes (sneakers or hiking shoes/boots), and then there are plenty of stairs towards the end. Once you traverse all of the terrain, you will be rewarded with spectacular 360 degree views. Definitely recommend!

While in Oahu this is a must see, just be prepared to shed some tears for this sacred site. I saw grown men teary eyed. I read every name listed on the wall when I was there in remembrance of the men who lost lives on the ship. Very enlightening.

Had a moving experience visiting Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial. They have done a beautiful job of honoring those who served here. Very informative and touching.

We visited the Arizona Memorial several years ago with our children and we very much enjoyed this return visit.

Given the fuss involved in getting tickets, this wasn't worthwhile. All you see on the memorial is perhaps 3 or 4 remnants of the USS Arizona, a diagram showing the original Arizona vs the sunk Arizona, and the names of the 1100+ servicemen who lost their lives.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's not worth seeing, as it's a touching memorial, however, given the hype and FOMO, it's not worth it. Don't stress if you miss out on tickets.
Tickets get released in ahead of time, 60 days and 24 hours. Note you MUST have an account created with the recreations.gov before you can reserve tickets, so create your account ahead of time.

Book your timed entry tix online 8 weeks in advance if you can, otherwise, you can show up the day of and line up but it could be an hour or more of waiting depending on the time of day and season. Try to go early as it can get very hot and sunny once late morning rolls around -- wear hat and sunscreen or cover up. Be prepared and read the rules about this special place re: bags, food, etc. If you have a car, best to show up early as available parking spots will be difficult to find as the day progresses. Best to see the movie first before visiting the Memorial -- definitely prepares you with good information on the history and timelines. Everyone should try to visit this special place and pay your respect; remember those who sacrifice(d) their lives all over the globe for our freedom.

A must do tour when visiting Oahu. Definitely recommend pre booking your visit to the Arizona Memorial. We elected to book a small group tour, so bookings were done for us. Our guide was an ex military veteran/historian/WW2 expert to visit Arizona, Memorial, Missouri, Bowfin Submarine and museum. We left Oahu with Pearl Harbour being our most moving and memorable experience.

This was my second trip to the memorial and it still brought tears to my eyes. We also toured the Missouri which was very interesting. Our only regret was not having the time to see the air museum. Tickets for the memorial need to be reserved far ahead but if you forget you can book with a tour group that has tickets. We did this two days prior.

I first saw this memorial on the Brady Bunch in the 70’s and always wanted to experience it in person. I found doing the virtual reality headset videos at the min desk in the park before going out was helpful in understanding what I was seeing. This is something not to miss if going to Honolulu.

Boat tour was canceled because of high wind. But very interesting movie and museum . Will try and get back on next trip. Was told this could be a possibility in the winter.

This is a wonderful monument that every person should experience. I found it very moving. Particularly enjoyed the tour of the battleship Missouri.

This was definitely one of the most emotional experiences we have ever been to. It was extremely moving to see oil still bubbling up, 81 years later. It was incredible to see how these men sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Highly recommend.

It’s very emotional to visit the memorial and know that many soldiers are laid to rest beneath your feet ! It’s like being in a church - solemn but necessary to understand the destruction that took place that day and fully got us into the war

My husband and I had a rental car so we didn't need to over pay for a tour. The uss Arizona is free. There are upgrades to it that can be booked and do sell out.

Very disappointing. It isn’t clear that you are selling only an audio tour on a listening device. It is free to enter Pearl Harbor and USS Arizona, as a state park. I don’t feel like this was clearly described.

Visiting Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial had been on my bucket list since elementary school (I'm in my 40s now). It was a very humbling experience being able to visit Hawaii with my family including my two children ages 14 and 10. Many displays and information, we learned a lot from the museum right outside the area where we boarded the boat to visit the Arizona. After that, we watched a brief approximately 20 minute narrated movie. The service members and civilians were in the middle of hell on earth that day.

A visit to this sacred site which had a major impact on world history was certainly a moving experience; if you plan a holiday in Hawaii then a a visit to Pearl Harbour is a must.

The USS Arizona memorial appears that it's brand new, but it's been here for several decades. The memorial is kept up well. When you visit the ship, expect a large crowd to be on the same boat. Before docking to the memorial, the boat operator will give a chance to take photos from afar, but they mention that you should be sitting down until docked. The ship itself is still leaking oil, which you can see at the memorial. To get good photos, just wait a few minutes after getting on the memorial to let the crowd filter through and then you'll have enough space to move around.
Only tip I have, book your tickets 2 months in advance with the recreation gov website. If you don't book in advance, all the tickets for the day are booked the day prior at 5 PM Honolulu time within 2 minutes.

A very moving experience visiting the ARIZONA for the first time. We arrived about 90 minutes before our scheduled tour and really found the grounds quite beautiful and the displays/ info boards very informative. We watched the Arizona memorial video before going out to the monument and were really impressed with our much info was provided in only 25 minutes to put context around Pearly Harbor and the ARIZONA Memorial. We also thought the Park Ranger brief before boarding the boat over to the Memorial was very useful as it added key details not included in the 15 minutes video. The Memorial itself is very moving and well designed and signed to explain to visitors what they are viewing. As a retired Cdn Naval officer myself, I found the young sailors crewing the boats to/ from the Memorial to be impressive; their pride in representing the USN was very evident and a credit to their Sevice.

The Memorial it's self and the VR experience were my favorite, although we had to leave that day, so we didn't get to see even half of everything. I'd like to go back to experience it all. FYI, you don't actually have to pay to see most of this, including seeing the USS Arizona Memorial. We thought that's what we paid for and it turns out that we just paid for the VR experience and to have a device to narrate for us.

My second time visiting the Arizona memorial. Every American should visit this location to get a sense of the sacrifices made by so many.

For starters let me say that the USS Arizona Memorial is an amazing experience that everyone should do. It is a very powerful tribute to those that lost their lives at Pearl Harbor.
Unfortunately, this visit was not as good as when I came 6 years ago. The employees on this visit were just frankly unfriendly. The lady running the standby line was rude. But even worse was when I realized that the movie they used to show prior to boarding the boats for the Arizona memorial has been removed, and was replaced with a snarky 18 year girl who had the nerve to chastise an elderly veteran who was struggling to silence his cell phone at the beginning of her talk. The movie they used to show was a 20-25 minute summary video of Pearl Harbor's role in WWII including some back story about what led up to the attack. Was so much more meaningful than the rude girl they had giving a talk before boarding, who was frankly just weird.
The sailors that man the boats to take you out to the memorial were professional as always, and there was a park ranger out on the Memorial itself who was helpful.

For those who do not book tix 2 mos in advance, we were able to get standby tickets for the USS Arizona Memorial for a family of 5 in July. We tried online reservations the day before at 3p but weren’t able to get tix - and ended up being happy we didn’t bc going standby turned out to be easy for us and worked better for our schedule. We parked at PH at 7:50am and got in USS Arizona standby line at 8am. About 75 people in front of us. At 8:15 reservation line was allowed in and then they took standby for the 8:15 ferry to the memorial. About 100 people were allowed on the ferry from the standby line, including our 5. It was awesome. We would have liked to see the movie beforehand but that didn’t seem possible; absolutely worth seeing it after you return on the ferry. It was a highlight. The USS Missouri was also a highlight - the (tween/teen) kids enjoyed it more. Do the Missouri tour with the nonprofit tour guides (no additional fee but optional when you get on the ship) - well worth the time and our guide (Duke) was a fun and phenomenal font of information.

We were advised if we didn't visit we would regret it and I'm glad we did. Being a memorial site it is sombre but respectful. There is a level of American exhalation which made it feel like WWII only started in 1941, which definitely isn't true. I felt it respected Japan's role in the war but with the strong presence of Japanese in Hawaii well before the the attack on Pearl Harbour it showed less compassion than it could have. It was expensive but worth the visit.

Interesting, educational and time to think.
Parking/person 1 dollar. Otherwise, no cost for tickets to USS Arizona monument. Boat trip for free.
Additional facilities chargeable - e.g. aviation museum 28 dollars.

We arrived early, so we watched the movie before boarding the boat to the memorial. A lot to learn and remember. Glad we had time to visit.

Complete and total scam. It costs nothing to go to the USS Arizona, the ticket was not for a guided tour but $38 for a stupid recorder you put in your ear which we did not use or pick up at the counter.
Don't be scammed!

The Arizona memorial boat ride, visit of site along with the introductory film and museums are well done!
The only cost to access this site is $1.00 per person when selecting the day and time online to visit.
Can do this visit without a tour.

A wonderful experience. Well organized by people who are obviously very invested in the memorial and what it represents.
Be sure to book ahead - at least 24 hours before you want to go. You cannot get to the actual Arizona without a reservation unless you stand in line for a couple of hours in the hopes that you can get in on stand-by. However, even though the line for stand-by was long (do as I say not as I did :)) the people working the line were wonderful and informed us very clearly about when/if we would get in.
FYI: No food, and water is the only drink only allowed on the tour.

Yes, this must be on your list of things to do. It will forever be in your memory. The grounds are immaculate with helpful staff.

Love it. Would definitely recommend!!
Wear comfortable shoes and take your time.
The view is spectacular and worth every breath to reach the top.

This is part the legacy of war. Many do not realize its significance or even that it is a cemetary. That surprised me. We need to honour the lives of those who were lost and are remembered still.

I'm here to rate the newly enacted parking experience only.
I did enjoy the memorial park though. I arrived at 0800 for a 0900 boat ride to the USS Arizona. (Go to the website and set up an email alert so you can buy the tickets 30 days in advance, it's the only way to ensure you get them)
Okay, so parking is supposedly $7 now. They recently enacted a fee for parking this year. When you arrive, you scan a QR code and pay through your phone. There is no enforcement of this rule. I'm not here to tell you not to pay, I'm just telling you that there is no enforcement of paying the fee. Take that as you will.
I'm sure the $7 will go toward helping them keep up the park for future visitors

A very poignant experience reflecting on the tragic loss of life during the Pearl Harbour attacks. Everybody should visit these historic sites to remind us all why war should be avoided

I don't know much about WW2 or Pearl Harbor. The tour was on my bucket list and so glad I was able to take my veteran husband to see it. I wanted to learn more about this important event and so I bought a nice book to read at my leisure, having recently become retired~ There is so much to see while there, but it was a hot day and couldn't read all the plaques I had wanted to.

Such an emotional, and amazing experience. A wonderful reminder of all those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. God Bless America.

Great driver who ensured we were safely inside and gave us great information and guidance. you are on your own once in Pearl Harbour. Everyone knows about this period in history but this experience really broadened my knowledge.

Because of the lack of clear information on how to experience this memorial we booked this as part of an organized tour of multiple local offerings. The boat ride to the memorial is not that comfortable because they use every available seat (and a couple of overflow seats) on the large shuttle. They allow you to visit the memorial for only as long as it takes for your boat to return and pick up the next group (about 15 minutes).

We have been to Pearl Harbor before, but unfortunately for us, the dock to the Arizona Memorial was closed for repairs and no one was allowed to go onto the memorial. So on this trip it was our mission to go to the Arizona Memorial.
We booked our excursion through Viator.......they got us our tickets for the Memorial, picked us up at the cruise dock and returned us to the cruise dock. They also drove through Punchbowl Cemetery, which was nice. With Viator, they will text you the morning of your excursion reconfirming your pick-up time or if there was any changes.
The memorial is very moving and is a must see if you are going to Pearl Harbor. All of the names of the men that died on that ship.....I didn't realize that there were so many. There were men that survived, but when they died they had their ashes interned in the ship, so they could be with their shipmates......their names are also there.
Something to remember if you go to Pearl Harbor, no, purses, backpacks, bags, camera cases, fannypacks, etc. Yes, you can take your camera. Just make sure you wear clothing that has pockets so you have someplace to carry your stuff.

We had a hire car and drove to the museum. There’s paid parking. You can book online but it said sold out. But we went to the desk and got on a standby list. They text you when there’s spots. We got one immediately. There’s a ferry boat takes you over and back. It’s all free for that and two museums- before the attack and the attack and a film also. All were great. We paid nothing. It was incredible. Very moving.

Humu Humu was amazing—saved us from a miscommunication mishap by calling us because we were a no-show. We didn’t get the schedule change— missed the text. But Humu made sure we got there.
My Ohana is from Makawao, we were there for my father’s funeral. My husband and I took the opportunity to visit Pearl Harbor where he was stationed 46 years ago, go down memory lane. So this was an emotional thing for me, my dad, fully Hawaiian, was born before WW II, in Maui when Hawaii was a territory. Felt full circle experience for me. Mahalo.

Definately worth the visit to Pearl Harbour. Very efficient ferry service to the memorial and back. Enjoyed the narration and memorials

This is our second visit, the first being over 20+ years ago and easier to visit than now. Reservation is required but we found tickets were easy to obtain with a little bit of planning. There is also a "stand by" line that people can take a chance to get tickets (free, with a small processing fee).
We arrived early in the morning by Uber well before our time slot so we could visit the area and get some photos. You get a safety briefing and history share, before taking the boat over the water to the memorial. It is a sobering experience.
The park ranger was very helpful with question/answer. We were curious about the survivors that chose to have their final resting place at the USS Arizona Memorial! She provided some information that was so interesting.
We feel this is a "must do" when visiting Honolulu and Pearl Harbor. Note that you can only carry a small bag. Locker facility is available outside of the area, so plan ahead.

Definitely a must visit when in Honolulu. Such an important piece of American and World history. Very moving. Well organized. Absolutely, get tickets in advance online. In addition to the USS, Arizona, a visit the USS, Missouri and the Aviation Museum is highly recommended. Plan to spend at least a half a day. No backpacks or large bags permitted They must be checked in a locker. Only clear liquids for drinking.

I got the tickets the day before when they were released at 3:00pm (create an account first). It was a great presentation and time of reflection.

A gray crater you have to make an appointment to walk around. Nothing to recommend. Stay on the outside and go through the tunnel to get a good overview.
A gray crater you have to make an appointment in to walk around. Nothing to recommend. Stop on the outside and walk through the tunnel to get a good overview.

Amazing, my husband and I could not believe oil was still coming out of the Arizona. The tour of the Arizona is very emotional!

I visited the USS Arizona Memorial with high expectations due to its historical significance. While it's definitely a moving place and a must-see for history buffs, the overall experience felt a bit underwhelming.
The site was extremely crowded, even early in the morning, which made it hard to fully absorb the atmosphere. The boat ride to the memorial was quick, and once we got there, we were only allowed a short time before being brought back. It felt rushed and didn’t give much opportunity to reflect or take in the details.
The museum before the tour was informative, and the staff were helpful and respectful. Still, I wish there had been more time at the actual memorial site.

A very moving and emotional experience. It is so important to remember Pearl Harbor and the people whose names are eternally etched on the wall. We are a blessed country to have had these patriots give up everything for us!

The dock has been fixed so people can now go into the memorial. It is very somber. No one is talking. Before boarding the boat that takes you to the memorial you watch a film. We missed the film because that was not wlexplained to us. I recommend checking in 30 minutes before your tour time. We arrived about 5 minutes before our check in time and nearly missed our tour. There are free exhibits to see much of the history. There is a lot of video footage and relics. It's all free and worth going. Note no bags, including purses, are allowed.

Very understanding and informative workers! Loved the experience and history that came to life! Big support for the Navy aboard! Thank you to all who have or do serve in the United States military!

Went early morning ,best time to go. Crew was nice. Must reserve tickets ahead of time if can. Cancellation line does move, but not super fast, depending upon the day.

This is the number one destination for the Hawaiian Islands and is a must visit for anyone. Taking a tour that picks you up from your hotel is a great way to visit

The hike is very short and the possibilities to do the other trails were closed.
I'm a little over it but the view is very beautiful.

We booked our tickets online as soon as they became available.
In reality we would have been better just waiting in the standby line. We arrived earlier than we expected which meant us just waiting for our allotted time. We watched the standby line all go in before us.
The boat over is filled to capacity, so no seats are wasted.
There is no waiting on the ramp at the memorial so all photos must be taken when you come out.
Each group is moved around the Memorial in an orderly fashion giving everyone time to take photos, read all the information and to take a moment to remember.
I found it very moving to see the drops of oil still bubbling to the surface popping as they reach it spreading rainbow colours across the water.
They ask people to keep talking to a minimum to respect those that died and family members that might be visiting.
To be far you are not there for long. This is probably to allow as many visitors as possible to visit.
The one thing that I feel could make this experience better is a photo of the Arizona as it is positioned now on the ceiling in the waiting area. This would help you visualise it when you actually get there. Depending on the tides means the visibility is better at different times. In some ways it’s hard to visualise it hence the photo before would help.
Please note you are not allowed to take in any bags what so ever. My husband had a very small purse size bag with medical supplies in it. He was made to empty the bag and put the contents into his pockets!!! He was then asked to throw the bag away. This we found was going a tad far by the security staff. I don’t understand why especially as they allowed strollers in with things in the tray underneath. Not all disabilities are visible and my husband felt that the security guard was not very understanding even after he showed him is colostomy bag. He was still told to throw the purse away or put it in a locker. The bag was only 5” x 3”!!!

Definitely go through the interactive museum displays prior to going out to the memorial. The detail and effort that has gone into creating this memorial are phenomenal. This is a must see for anyone interested in tangible wartime history.

It is an emotional experience. This was a must for me on the trip to Hawaii.
When you see the wall with all the names of the lives lost that day it is very heartfelt. My daughter got teary.
The museum also had information I never learned about that attack. There are many myths about what happened. I was also not aware there were other bases on the island which were bombed.
I would go again to spend more time in the museum.

Prepare for unexpected bad weather, Some people got really wet due to no windows on the double deck bus,and sudden downpour

The experience was humbling and also well orchestrated at the site. I wasn’t able to purchase tickets so we went without any and there was a stand by line that we waited in to take the boat out. We only had to wait about 45 minutes and it was fine.

Been here before but brought the kid with us this time. You have to log into the site to get tickets RIGHT at the moment you can get them as they were sold out within 3 min. However, stand by line didn't seem long at all. Disappointed they don't show the film prior to going over but you can go watch it later.

Don’t book via trip advisor- book through the government website for recreation because it is the only way to reserve a time for the boat out to the USS Arizona Memorial. We booked through trip advisor and had to wait an hour and a half on standby with our three teenagers to get out there. Otherwise Pearl Harbour was well worth the visit- educational and moving.

Just being there brought tears to my eyes, the lives that were lost. The boat ride over the Arizona Memorial was beautiful to see.
I remember Elvis Presley was instrumental in donating the monies he received from his concert in 1959, to go toward the building of this Memoria.

So make sure you book your ferry tickets in advance they are a dollar each , booked two trips incase your late arring at Pearl, remember no bags so leave them at the hotel or check them in at the entrance around 7 dollars

The tour is mostly for those who have some connection to the ship. There wasn't much to see. The history of the Battle of Hawaii can be read at the museum

Enjoyed the sites, your recordings and the boat ride to the Arizona memorial site. This is a special place for the family because so many died so unfairly. Our trip to Hawaii would never be complete without the visit to the Arizona memorial site.

This was a great trip for a day that we wanted to take it easy and still do something memorable. The ferry ride and memorial visit lasts about 30 -40 minutes and is a meaningful and peaceful way to spend the afternoon.

Important: If you want to tour the actual USS Arizona Memorial on the water, you must have a reservation if you do not want to wait in the standby line!! The only place to get those reservations is off of the National Parks website/Recreation.gov. The reason I am adding this is because my friend was ensured he had the right tickets, but it was only for entrance into the main museum area. Therefore, we had to wait in the standby line.
Sometimes, the reservations are hard to get because the site is overloaded (I've heard this from several people), so keep trying. If you do just show up without reservation tickets, the standby line is where you can wait in order to be placed in the boat after those who have reservations have been boarded. Granted, although the boat out to the memorial is a large boat, you can wait quite a while. We ended up waiting three hours, but it was well worth it.
The earlier you get out to the memorial (without having reservation tickets) the better, because you never know how long the line is going to be. This portion of the tour is managed by park rangers and they do an excellent job of keeping everyone sorted and moving through the lines. Please be respectful to them as they're only doing their jobs.
I recommend that if you're not entirely familiar with the history of Pearl Harbor and it's role in the United States' entry into WWII, you go through the museum portion of the memorial before actually going out to visit the memorial itself. There are several films that can be watched along with other exhibits which tell the story about that tragic day. I am a historian and have studied WWII, but I still found this part of the tour helpful as it was a refresher as to what happened that day and sets the stage for stepping onto the actual memorial from the water.
I have no words for the actual memorial itself. To be standing on the place where so many men were entombed was very moving. On the tour I went with, you could almost hear a pin drop until the park ranger began speaking, such a significant gesture of honor and respect for those who perished there. Also, plan to visit the gift shop. There are a lot of neat items in there that you'll want to take home with you. Overall, an excellent, yet hallowing experience.

The views were so incredible! The hike is fairly easy took about an hour return. Just a lot of stairs and uphill. When you reach the top the breathtaking views make it all worth it.

Get your tickets early so you aren’t in the standby line. You get 15 minutes at the memorial so make it count. Incredible after 80 years there is still fuel rising to the surface. The stories, artifacts, and pictures take you back to that time and leave you mind blown. There’s a reason FDR said “a date which will live in infamy.” Very moving memorial that strengthens American pride.

The memorial is very moving and a great part of our history.
The company that is contracted to keep the place clean and restrooms clean is letting us down.

No need to purchase ahead of time. This does not include timed access to USS Arizona (the ONLY way to purchase tickets is through the Park service).
You can go to USS Arizona without a timed ticket. You can wait in the standby to take the boat out-line gets long quickly.
If your traveling with luggage can check for a fee (all purses have to be checked-so if you can leave them in the car).
The self guided audio tour was very informative and the VR experience was very cool too-this was included in this ticket. However, you can just pay day of going.
Unless you want a timed ticket to view the USS Arizona, buying tickets in advance is not necessary.
Beautifully done museum. Glad we went. The living history interviews of WW2 vets and civilians were best part.

By all means go to the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. You will be humbled by the sacrifice of so many lives for our freedom.

Headed to town for tour, left Aulani 1 1/2 hours before start of our reservation. Barely made it. Traffic was horrible. On arrival found ample parking. I visited 19 years ago. A lot has changed, very very nice. Went through museum, watched film then visited the memorial. Very humbling. I would say a must do.

Our whole family went to see this memorial. It's free and takes about fifteen minutes to get there by ferry. The guides remind people that this is a memorial to fallen US sailors and to behave accordingly.

Everything was wonderful but wish we could have viewed the ship better
Very breezy and waves prevented it. And it was dark in water.
Beautiful lighting need
But the occasion was very respectful and solemn
I was a little deceived on line paid for tour but was not what we wanted so had to wait in standby line

My young daughters absolutely loved this amazing experience. They wanted to spend the entire day there. It was just such a great day looking at a piece of American history.

Very moving experience. See the movie before going to the memorial. Be sure to get memorial tickets ahead of time. You can not get them otherwise. There are also other displays with movies to watch. The shuttle to Ford Island was efficient. We went to the USS Missouri. Our tour guide Lindsey was great. We did not have enough time to go to the Aviation Museum.

We went on the normal self guided USS Arizona tour at Pearl Harbor. Tickets were easy to get if you understand when to get them. It was easy to park and find where to go. It was a very moving experience for my 8 year old, 12 year old, my parents and myself. It was a little rushed, but I understand that they have to move a lot of people. The lines and boat ride were flawless.
Definitely buy tickets instead of the standby line.
Do not bring any bags unless they are a small see through bag.

Glad I got to see this in person. It is very emotionally moving and educational. A must see if you are in Hawaii.

Exceptionally impactful and meaningful tour. Beautifully done. Every American should visit. Grateful to be an American!

Very emotional and somber experience. This was our second time here and was able to bring my sister for the first time, feelings are still overwhelming about what happened here.

Visiting Pearl Harbour and the stunningly beautiful memorial over the USS Arizona is incredibly humbling and emotional. As the guide says, you are not ticking off a bucket list item, you are there to pay your respects.
A ferry takes you across the harbour to the stunning white memorial which spans the central hull of the sunken battleship. The open white structure is visually beautiful, it feels like an open cathedral and the wall of remembrance ensures there is not a dry eye amongst the visitors. It’s only a short visit, but seeing the names of the dead, looking out onto the sunken ship and watching oil burst on the waters surface (tears of the dead) will remain with you forever.
This would be a 5star review but for the problems we had getting there. We did not have an itinerary 8 weeks out so missed that booking window; we did not want to pay $$$s for a coach tour; we tried for 3 days to get the 3pm tickets. Eventually we dropped by to ask “HOW can we do this?” And a lovely guy on the gate told us “come early and wait for the stand-by tickets” so we rocked up at 6am next day when the carpark opened, were first in the queue when the gates opened at 7am, were first in the standby queue by the theatre and lo & behold, all 6 of us plus about 20 more got entry onto the first ferry to the Memorial at 8am! Yay!
But it shouldn’t be this hard! I’m sharing this info as we were told and read that they no longer allocate tickets on the day - the reality is there are no “tickets” but several staff told us that 100-250 “stand-bys” usually became available each day so it’s worth making the effort!

We bought this thinking it gave us a ticket for the shuttle across to the memorial - it doesn’t- so we queued in the standby line and still got over ok. The handsets hanging round your neck are heavy and bulky and the earphones are naff. Not really needed as the movie and plaques around the place explain everything really well. Also bought for all 4 of us but my husband and friend didn’t use theirs - so could’ve got away with just 2! Staff at kiosk friendly and helpful.

we toured the Arizona memorial and it was very humbling to think of all the lives that were lost that day . Very sacred place to visit

We arrived about 9 o’clock and picked up our headsets at the farthest kiosk from the parking lot. The path was paved for a while, and then, as it climbed became a rocky walkway and finally steps. The markers indicating the next recording were not all present, but the map helped to show where we should go to the next stop. The recordings were very informative. It took us (71+ y/old) roughly 50 minutes to walk up and 30 to walk down. I recommend this activity.

Very touching, moving. I suggest attending the movie before you get the boat over to the memorial, it will give you the history of what it felt like on that tragic day.

Enjoyed the day. Go right at 3pm for USS Arizona ticket purchase for “tomorrow” visit; $1 each. Be ready to click immediately at 3pm to purchase your tickets. Parking is purchased upon arrival at a separate kiosk; people leave throughout the day, so closer parking does open up. We saw the 23 minute memorial movie (can be viewed anytime during your visit, 15 or 45 minutes before every hour). I would recommend watching the movie before you do the Arizona tour; it’s a separate line to theatre in the same area as boarding the ferry boat to Arizona. The Arizona is quite a touching and reflecting time. Be sure to walk the perimeter outside to read all the educational info about the war and Pearl Harbor. We also spent time in the 2 museums that are “free”. We skipped the other paid tours and saw and learned plenty! We chose not to tour the battle ship or submarine (and saved about $85 each). Don’t miss this historical place

This tour was cancelled and no one told me why. Very frustrating when I called asking about it. I was also told that my money had been refunded when it actually had not. The morning of the tour I received an email stating that the trip had been cancelled.

My husband and I did a complete tour of Pearl Harbor which included visiting the Arizona, the Bowfin, Missouri, and the Aviation museum. We booked it through Pearl Harbor tours. Our guide, Vili did an exceptionally good job explaining and getting us from place to place. He also took us to other parts of the island to the Punch bowl, military cemetery, and a few historical sites downtown Honolulu. We highly recommend this tour for a comprehensive look at Pearl Harbor.

Well organised visit. saw the 8.00am raising of the American Flag and the great respect Americans have for their military.

So easy and planned out from the beginning to the end. Our driver was Ben, he was wonderful!
Definitely an emotional visit and tour. My father just passed and served 20+ years in the Navy. He would have loved this trip as he was stationed in Honolulu where I was born. This was my first time back since moving when I was 3 years old. I felt I was doing this tour for him.

It was breathtaking. I didn’t realize how much it would hit me when I saw the piece of the hull on display. Being a former sailor I was in tears

A solemn ride to the memorial and back. Thinking of the hell that was wraught on that day. A very moving experience.
I would recommend doing this last if you are seeing the rest of the sites (Missouri, Aviation Museum, Bowfin) as you get a breeze on ride and it just didn't feel hot while at memorial.

This is my second time to the memorial and it was just as sobering and amazing as the first time. I hope we never forget the people who sacrificed everything for our freedom.

A memorial like no other. From the moment you arrive until the final goodbye, there’s an undeniable aura that surrounds the USS Arizona Memorial.
The experience is quiet, powerful, and deeply moving. Standing above the sunken battleship, you feel the weight of history in a way few places can deliver. It’s not flashy or overproduced—just respectful, solemn, and profound.
This is a truly touching tribute to the Greatest Generation and to those who lost their lives on December 7, 1941. It serves as both a place of remembrance and reflection, honoring sacrifice, service, and resilience.
A must-visit in Hawaii—not just for its historical significance, but for the emotion it leaves with you long after you depart.

What a beautiful hike. We visited at 9:00 on a Wednesday in April. The path was busy but not crowded. We did not walk fast so we allowed faster walkers to pass us. We took 3 short breaks on the way up and still made it to the top in an hour. The hike has a couple of “zones”. The first is a paved path. This is the easiest to walk and is mid-level steep. The second zone is a little steeper and is natural rock. Hard rock not gravel. It is uneven and demands some attention so as to not turn an ankle. The third zone is the tunnel. The path through the tunnel is fairly easy to walk although somewhat narrow when meeting a fellow hiker. The final zone is the steps. The view from the top makes the hike worth it all! The stroll down was much easier than the climb up!
Take water and prepare to be amazed!

Memorial dedicated to the service members who lost their lives during the USS Arizona attack in 1941. A US Navy boat ferries you out to the memorial site, where docents provide educational presentations.

A must do if you are visiting Oahu. Very nice, friendly, clean, respectful place. Lots and Lots of info. The boat ride out to the Arizona is fun and brings you to your knees for respect.

Don't be afraid to go to the will call same day tickets for the US Arizona. Just wait in line and you shouldn't have any trouble getting a place on the boat tour. There are online tix available every day but they go in seconds. Also remember there is no charge to tour the Arizona memorial so no need to buy an advertised tour. The city bus goes right there. Use the time on the bus to see the rest of the city. There are a variety of things to do and see at Pearl Harbor, some free, some for a few. Plan on spending a day

Visit taken with our hotel, rather pleasant open bus journey which obviously stops at quite a few other hotels and stops so you have to have time but you enjoy a visit to the city at the same time.
Arrival at the memorial no bags allowed so cloakroom costs around 7 dollars then race to reach the memorial full of stories yes.
But apart from that, it's not very interesting except for the American people or military history buffs.
We returned by taxi because it took too long.
Purely personal opinion.

Visiting Pearl Harbor was touching and emotional. My family and I have learned a lot trough tour guide / organized trip /visiting a museum at the site with abundance of materials from December 07, 1941 (the day of attack). Visiting Pearl Harbor and paying respect to those who sacrificed their lives so that we can enjoy our freedom should be obligation to everyone who visits Oahu.

We enjoyed our tour of Pearl Harbor through Robert’s Hawaii. Our guide/driver Dave was wonderful and very helpful navigating the ins and outs of getting the best experience.

This was an amazing informational and historical learning experience. My wife and I were both touched with the learnings we took away from this experience. We both knew that this was not a normal picture taking, merry "tour" when we signed up, but a tribute to the brave men and women of Pearl Harbour during WWII. BTW, we are both Canadians and this was our first visit to Hawaii so not having a deep knowledge of the events of Pearl Harbour, it was an eye opener.
If possible do this early on your visit to Hawaii and not the last thing on your vacation as it could leave you teary and sad before leaving.

I'm sure everyone knows by now that this is a memorial site and requires respect. Please don't bring small children if they are going to be distracting. We had some that were. My husband was trying to read and concentrate and it was difficult. Take your time to look over all the things here, reflect on the sacrifice and learn from history.

My father served in WW2 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor after the attack. I flew 3000k miles to see the Arizona. I stood in line, paid admisssion, and when it was time to board the Arizona they said the boat was cancelled beacuse "the Army/Navy football game was on.

The show and food were great! The atmosphere was wonderful too. We liked the traditional Hawaiian activities beforehand too.

This was a nice guided tour, and I’m grateful our family went early. Parking was easy to find the morning but quickly filled up.
Bags are not allowed.

Sergei was our driver and what an amazing guy he was. He went above and beyond for us and we highly recommend him. Thanks!!

Amazing experience, I wouldn’t book my tour at or around 12 again as I didn’t get to stay very long as the crew were going on a lunch break. But would recommend to everyone.

On your app it looks like I’m the tickets are to RIDE the Arizona at Pearl Harbor. However once we got to Pearl Harbor, they had no clue what it was and we felt like fools. I’ve used you a few times before and I’m thinking this will be my last.

Third visit to the memorial this time to share with family. Always good to remind ourselves what sacrifices those who lie here made.

So much to see and absorb here. Very moving to go out to the Arizona. Glad I got to see this site. Take your time here - no need to rush around.

This was a very somber experience. It's hard to believe that hundreds of soldiers are buried there. It was wonderful to experience it at least once in your life.

It was just ok. It has been a long-held bucket list visit to pay my respects and I am glad I have seen the memorial but I would not recommend or visit again.
The website does not make clear in a simple and easily understandable way what there is to see and do, which parts require tickets, and what is included in the tickets. Online booking was confusing, and the actual experience no less. The docents and Navy personnel were suitably sombre, but in the case of the former we found the two or three staff we encountered with questions to be rude and charmless. They must hate working with the public. I still don't know whether we were meant to see a short movie in the theatre we were ushered into, or not.
The tickets did warn about bags of a certain size but the restriction was extreme and frankly ridiculous. Almost every visitor had to queue to drop off a bag at $7-$10 each. The theatre of security is used to generate a healthy revenue, no doubt.
The museum was interesting but lacked tangible exhibits. (The Army Museum in Honolulu had more exhibits of interest on the same subject.) I recommend arriving ahead of your Memorial booking time and visiting the museum first.

We took the family to Hawaii on vacation. We stayed on the big island and explored the volcano and we flew over on a day trip to explore Pearl Harbor. Wow! It was amazing. The family loved. It was great for our kids to experience US history in this way. It really makes you appreciate everything you have.

Very educational and informative. An excellent movie prior to going to the memorial. Would recommend.

What a beautiful place to memorialize history of our blessed soldiers and civilians who lost their lives to give us ours

So much history in such beautiful surroundings. A wonderful, solemn tribute to those who lost their lives in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Reservations are recommended, and are released at 3pm the day prior.

When we went to this Amazing Historic Site it was Awesome! However the USS Arizona Memorial was closed, so that was disappointing! Otherwise it was Very Educational and Informative and Fun!

For the USS Arizona Memorial $1 tickets, try to book at least a month prior. A limited release of tickets does happen the day prior to the visit at 3 PM (through website, not app) but is literally gone by 3:01 PM.
We had a party of 17 and the tours were entirely too expensive for taking a tour with a bus and guide. If you book a tour, you have to arrive with your tour bus.
Visiting the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center is FREE with $7 USD parking charge and we were able to put our names on a standby list. There is no estimated time and we waited 2 hours to get the notification.
Onsite museum range from $19 - $24 USD for Adults.
Only Clear bags are allowed in. Purses can’t be bigger than your phone.

We used Adventurein Hawaii. And they completely left us we wear at the stop they told us the bus stop but it was the trolley stop that we passed. And every thing they sent us was it was the bus stop. Stay away from this company they cheat you

If you want to understand the modern world, you need to get a handle on WW2. This is a sobering outing but a really must-see.

This was a very informative tour with good commentary and ample time for individual exploration and observation. There were plenty of memorials to read about and explore. The place is spacious and clean, with easy-to-access restrooms and eating facilities.

Great experience. A dark time in America's history. One will experience the many reasons we should never go to war. Nobody wins

It’s important to view the USS Arizona Memotial as there is always something new to learn. Amazing history! Lives lost were stagnating.

A moving experience, visiting Pearl Harbor and the Arizona. The historical narrative in the NPS museums provides the setting, you can envision the day and the position of the boats. Now ~80+ years later a visit to this final resting place and cemetery is a must do for everyone. Let Freedom Ring and Never Forget the day that will live in infamy!

The guide contents are easy to understand, and it was good to know the history, but the WiFi environment is bad, so I should have downloaded it beforehand

This was a very moving experience and was the highlight of our visit to Pearl Harbor. Boats leave from near the visitor center every 15 minutes from 8am-330p. Tickets only cost $1 but need to be reserved in advance. This is a very tough ticket to obtain, and it always sells out. You can purchase tickets from rec.gov either 8 weeks in advance or 24 hours in advance at 3pm local Hawaii time. Be ready to order right at 3pm and make sure you have learned how the website works. If you strike out, arrive first thing in the morning and join the standby line if you really want to experience the USS Arizona. You wait to wait 1-2 hours but they fill up the open spots in the boat from no-shows with those in the standby line.

This was the main reason for our trip to Hawaii. The visit certainly makes one appreciate all those brave service men and women who have, and continue to, put their lives on the line to try to keep us all safe.

This was a bucket list item for our family. An inspiring and humbling experience. Any visit to Oahu should include this visit.

Great place to visit & hike price was great the only problem only with appointment but the security guard was reasonable & let’s us scam the code so we. can go in

This is a must see activity if you are on Oahu. There are lots of things to read and see at the visitors center but you will want to make the USS Arizona Memorial tour reservations.

I enjoyed learning more about Pearl Harbor through the exhibits and then the boat out to the memorial. Keep in mind this isn't just something to do, but is a place where many people died and remain buried. It's a place to pay respects to military members. We booked our tickets the day before at 3 pm, you really need to be at the website logged in, and waiting to get tickets beforehand. They're gone in a few minutes. Or plan to get them 48 days before your desired visit. Arrive an hour early to find parking, and don't bring a bag in unless you want to pay $7 to store it. You can bring a water bottle, smartphone, camera (no bag) and small wallet in.

The Memorial itself is moving, but the nearby museums with the audio guide narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis really helps to put everything in context. The movie right next door to the ferry departure is also worthwhile. Be aware that the Memorial itself is small, and your time at it is limited. Also please book your USS Arizona Memorial time ahead of your visit so that you aren’t stuck on standby. That line was lengthy and out in the sun.
The Passport to Pearl Harbor also grants you access to the USS Bowfin and the related Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, the Battleship Missouri, and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. The website also lists the USS Oklahoma Memorial but we didn’t visit it. We enjoyed the Passport as we got to see so many things.

An experience I'll never forget. The sailors on ferries were polite, but professional. The attendant at the memorial was phenomenal!

We were there with a tour group and we only had a hour and a half in the park and thats not a lot of time to see everything. We saw the Arizona and the museum that goes with it but did not see the movie but I heard it was good. The only thing I did not like was you have to use an app to scedule a time for the Arizona. There were a lot of people very frustrated with it and when you get your time and you walk up to the entrance they put you in a line to wait. But it does go fast and they move people to the site very quickly.

This was my third visit to Pearl Harbor and second visit on the USS Arizona Memorial. It is such a chilling feeling to set foot on this Memorial and try to understand how such an event in such a short period of time took so many lives

Memorial a bit questionable as they said, I didn't have the feeling of anything; we can glimpse a sunken ship and there is a list of the fallen.
Maybe it's me who hasn't assimilated the situation

I have always wanted to see Pearl Harbor. I booked a reservation a couple months in advance. I tried to do it 6 months in advance but you can’t do it that early. Parking was not very clearly marked or adequate. I wound up parking down the road on the side along with many others. It was fine. The signage was not great on where to go but we asked some staff and figured it out. US Navy personnel and park rangers were very respectful and reverent. Not all the people were bit most recognized this was sacred ground. It is a short tour back and forth but very moving. I recommend listening to the short film in the theater after the tour, or before.

Visiting memorials is always a sobering experience. The Arizona was even more so because of the pains taken my the on-site military and staff to remind us that there were 900+ marines and sailors still entombed at the site. I was skeptical of the short visit to the monument itself, but it turned out to be about right. It’s likely that if you want more time, you could just take a subsequent ferry. Took an audio tour of the visitor center and monument, which was pretty good. I was glad to see mention of some of America’s missteps as well, such as the the internment camps. Overall a great experience.

The tour of Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial is undoubtedly a must do. Emotions are very present and the different visitors show by their attitude the deep respect they have for this place of memory.

It was very good and moving experience. I learned a lot of stuff I didn't know before and the audio explains very well. Highly recommended

A must see on your visit to Oahu and Pearl Harbor. Very sobering, for sure. Take the moment in given the history of this memorial. Buy the $1 tickets in advance to avoid the standby line.

This was amazing and wonderful and heartbreaking all at the same time. Definitely something that everyone needs to do when they come to Honolulu.
I purchased the tickets ahead of time and although they say to arrive an hour before your time, you can't line up until 10 minutes before your time.

Highly informative. USS Arizona Memorial is a sombre site. Totally worth a visit. Sadly some visitors are disrespectful

Fabulous. We'll organized and efficient tour. Very moving. Guests, especially kids and young adults need to be more conscious of their talking non-stop. It is a GRAVE and MEMORIAL not a ride at Disney--show some respect.

Pearl Harbor was an amazing experience. The price was less than anything else I could find. Afterwards I still think you made a mistake by giving it at such a low price. Even with paying for our own transportation it was still less expensive than any of the tours offered by the hotel or other online.

A must see. This was very moving. We are eternally thankful to the service members who have and continue to give their lives for our freedom!

Moderately easy hike to see beautiful views. Did not go all the way to the top - as there was a long line. Took it slow on the walking. Plenty of rest stops along the way.

This was an entire ripoff. Why would anyone wants to have an audio tour when you can not get into a park? They did not allow us to get in. And then we found out that we have to pay for parking AND entrance to the park, attendant asked us to go aside and got $20 cash from us without any receipt to let us in! What a crook! Tripadvisor should be ashamed of this scheme

I didn’t realize that entrance and parking were separate fees so we never got to go in. We were very disappointed. We leave tomorrow so we don’t get to go

I really don't have anything new to add. This is a truly moving experience. The oil floating up from the ship is chilling. We can forget our history.

My husband and I enjoyed this experience of learning more about Pearl Harbour. The USS Arizona visit was sad and quite emotional. We took a tour bus and the commentary was excellent. We then flew over Pearl Harbour in a helicopter.

Combined with tour of USS Missouri, you “book-end WW-II: from Dec. 7 attack on Pearl Harbour to Japanese surrender on the deck of the Missouri.
Arizona Memorial is sobering, solemn and reflective. A MUST for any first visit yo Oahu.

This is a must visit to pay honor to those who sacrificed for us. Very well organized. You cannot bring bags in so carry what you need or you will have to rent a locker just for the bag.

This tour is very well organised and respectful. A must see when in Honolulu. The museum and film show before going out to the actual memorial are very informative.

Went with a tour which seemed to be the best way to ensure access. Five minute boat ride to and from monument. Important to read the plaques/rent the audio. Do not go at lunch time if you plan to have a nice lunch.

A memorial where many Sailers and some Marines are still entombed. Educational, interesting, sobering. Worth seeing.

We visited this site twice. First day to do Arizona Memorial and submarine, and second day the USS Missouri and Aviation Museum.

As a US Navy veteran, I was a little disappointed.
The tour of the USS Arizona was very moving, but very quick (too quick). There's not enough time to contemplate and absorb the enormity of the attack and the associated casualties.
The boat ride is almost longer than the time at the memorial.
This is not a complaint, just an observation. This is a VERY popular place, and there's not enough time to allow everyone to spend whatever time you want.
I would have liked to spend more time.

We got there a before 2 pm and were told we have to be back at a certain time if we want the audio tour. It didn’t specify in the description when we booked it. Ended up going without it.

You can't help but feel emotional when you visit here. When you enter the memorial, the silence is deafening.

It’s a memorial for the ones who lost their lives in Pearl Harbor
Reserve tickets in advance through Pearl Harbor website.
It’s free to see Arizona memorial. Do not pay to see this.

We had a lot of rain on us during our visit, but the memorial and accompanying displays were interesting. We did the movie last, wish we'd done it first, to put everything into context.

If you want to assure Yourself of a visiting slot, you can book online , the fee is 1 USD. If not, you can join the stand by line. Places would be available if it is not crowded, preferably on a weekday. You can watch the 15min show on the history of the USS Arizona at the theater while waiting to get over to the memorial. At the allocated time, all visitors would be allowed to board the boat to get to the memorial. Once at the memorial, you will get to see the sunken parts of USS Arizona , the Hall of Honour, the various displays giving much information on the memorial.

Don’t waste your money. Just show up and you can do the tour yourself. Also you don’t need tickets or reservations for the boat ride to the memorial that this pass doesn’t cover. We waited 10 mins on standby and got on the boat. The memorial is priceless!!

Entrance to the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites is free, but to visit the USS Arizona Memorial takes a reservation. Which can be made months in advance. If you wait till you arrive, tickets may be gone. The self guided audio tour utilizes a cell phone type device and earbuds. Jamie Lee Curtis narrates the tour. There are markers bearing tour numbers throughout the site and you enter the number to hear that segment of information. It’s a very user friendly operation.
The virtual reality is a fun way to get a better perspective of the attack as it happened.
There are two small museums on site. While interesting, it seems they would have more displays and artifacts than they did. They are still worth taking the time to go through however.
We found taking the tour and doing the VR took us a few hours prior to our scheduled time for the boat ride out to the memorial.
Although the web sight will warn you to get there early, we found that private tour groups from Honolulu made this an early stop and made things far more crowded. By noon they were gone and the remaining crowd much less, making the experience more enjoyable.

This is a moving and informative memorial to our WW2 heroes who died at Pearl Harbor. Most intriguing was the draft speech President Roosevelt gave to Congress held behind glass. I love artifacts like this.

The Arizona experience is one of the most moving and emotionally stimulating memorial tours you’ll ever do. You can see the memorial from the Pearl Harbor piers, visitors center and Ford Island, but nothing compares to the barge tour where you witness it up close.
The barge tour is operated by National Park Rangers and active duty Sailors who are very professional and knowledgeable. Prior to embarking, you’ll shuffle into a theater and view a brief film about the attack and days leading up to it.
A few things to consider.. this attraction is free-ish and planning ahead matters. Officially, visiting the memorial itself is supposed to be zero cost, but you do have to pay a $1 online service charge for your ticket and parking is ~$7 in the visitors center lot assuming you’re driving in. If you can, highly recommend booking your time slot weeks in advance in order to have more control of when you go. When you’re planning your trip to HI, perhaps this is the next thing you book after your flight and hotel. Slots book up incredibly quick and same-day tickets are not offered.
To get your tickets, use “recreation.gov” (this is the official site). In a Google search, other unaffiliated tour shark sites may pop up to get you to book through them, which is both unnecessary unless you’re seeking help with transportation and will be much more costly.
This is a year-round operation and when you go doesn’t matter too much. Just know that AUG and SEP will likely be the most hot and humid and JAN and FEB will likely be the wettest.
Last tip: you may have heard that the Arizona still leaks oil to this day… this is true. The best place on the memorial barge to witness this in is the right-center of the far side (facing Battleship Missouri). There’s a pocket of the ship in direct view of that area that constantly spits oil and you can see the discoloration in the water clear as can be. Overall, this is a must-do and an epic, well-preserved piece of American history.

Always wanted to visit pearl harbour & am glad to say it’s another one off the bucket list
The time your actually on the memorial itself is very litre which wasn’t great but you get enough time to take pictures and get a brief run down by one of the rangers
Would highly recommend and also to go and look around the ship Missouri that was really good

My day trip to the USS Arizona Memorial has been on my bucket list for a good 40 years. It didn’t disappoint in any way. The Memorial is so subtle and serenely peaceful its quite telling. The film shown is incredible and how the staff conduct themselves is amazingly respectful. The entire grounds have been really well planned and all the facilities available are more than enough for anybody to have a really comfortable visit. Plenty of toilets, plenty of food options, seating, with military staff illustrating great demeanor and patience with visitors. Thank you America.

Had a great time .. amazing hike, but honestly with those heavy iPhones around your neck make it that much harder to hike. I love the certificate of hike completion at the end. Very neat.

First of all don’t buy tickets in advance. To visit the Arizona Memorial is totally free. All you need to do is take an Uber if you didn’t rent a car. It’s either all morning or all afternoon visit. Everyone will learn something new even if you visited in the past. I did!

This was one of the most awe inviting experiences I've ever had. It's an incredible piece of history. If you are a service member it is certainly a must do.

A must do if you are in Oahu. The narrated tour is at your own pace. Perfect for people with visual challenges. We arrived at 9 am and had no problem going out to the Arizona on standby. The whole memorial is first class.

Can't help but get overwhelmed with emotion. A great must do experience whist in Honolulu. Recomend pre booking with a tour so you are assured tickets.

It's free to get into the main part of the museum and ride the boat over to the memorial. However you do have to purchase a ticket for other all over nice place good.

As a retired Air Force veteran and history enthusiast, I have always wanted to visit Pearl Harbor. I was not disappointed! The reverence of the monument was so impressive. Seeing the final resting place of so many Sailors and Marines was humbling. I was so honored to be in such an historical and meaningful piece of history was almost overwhelming. God bless the military members and serve at this monument. Much like the Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Interesting so see…. Lovely park, nice to learn about Pearl harbour. But due to rough weather the boat trip to the memorial couldn’t go. Fine no problem with that. However we booked this excursion with a tour group. Transportation to and from hotel was included. Very expensive…. But wanted to go. People, I didn’t know that admission to Pearl harbour and the Arizona is free !!! My bad cause I didn’t do my research so in conclusion all I really paid the tour company for was a very expensive car ride to and from the site. I could still have $150 in my pocket. Lesson learned !!
Go on the web site ahead of time and book your own tickets for Pearl harbour and the Arizona. TICKETS ARE FREE. And take an Uber from your hotel.

This was my favorite part of the Pearl Harbor National Park experience. The 360 degree VR was so cool. I hope they make a Battle of Midway VR experience soon.

RJ was our guide. On the trip to the Pearl Harbour RJ explained a lot about what we will see and even some highlights of the island while we travelled. Highly recommend a longer tour.

I have always wanted to go to pearl harbor and my wife and I finally got the opportunity to go and I was disappointed. They have turned everything into a total circus. Want to go see the Arizona memorial get on a boat go out to the ship and in 15 minutes leave. No time to look around no time to read the names on the wall nope next boat get off. Want to see anything else battleship Missouri sub museum or the submarine get in line and pay the price. Everything is down to give us your money and move fast for the next group. I would love to be able to have seen something and enjoyed my visit but to many people and not a lot to see the ship is not visible disappointed.

Although it was a little rough walking up all those steps to the top the end result was worth it. We captured amazing views that we'll always remember. We enjoyed learning about the history along the way.

Finally was able to go to Pearl Harbor on Oahu. Beautiful tribute to those lost. Highly informative.

This is a must see in Hawaii. Please treat the memorial as hallowed ground as many of the fallen of the USS Arizona still lie interred in the hill of the ship beneath the water. Best thing to do is to reserve two months in advance to avoid the crowds and to secure your spot in a designated day and time. This is a moving experience will will never forget where you will have an opportunity to remember the fallen and honor their sacrifice.

I consider this something you have to do if you visit Honolulu. The tour is really about the whole Pearl Harbor attack, and is mostly made up of exhibits covering all aspects from prewar tensions to the actual attack and its aftermath. It includes a boat trip to the actual Arizona, which is underwater, but in some ways is the least iforative part of the tour since there really isn't much to see. And if you can, you should also visit the Missouri, the battleship on which the surrender documents were signed in 1945. If you stand in the right place on the deck, just by the marker for the signing desk, you can take a photo that has the Arizona memorial and the Signing marker in the same photo, so you have the beginning and the end of the Pacific war in one shot.

Very somber experience. There's not a lot of time allowed at the memorial, but this should not be missed. Worth checking out Ford Island as well.

Visiting the Pearl Harbour National Memorial and visiting the USS Arizona Memorial was a solemn reminder of the grim realities of WWII. We greatly appreciated the film unfolding the events of that day, the memorial itself, and a tour of the USS Missouri. All the guides were helpful and knowledgeable.

We first toured the museum seeing and hearing about the attack. We then toured the hangar to view many planes including current jet fighters. - it was really great!
We then took the shuttle boat to the Memorial. AMAZING! - The experience will always remain in our memories!

Good information, well kept place with lot of sentiments. Must place to visit. Deluxe package is helpful and VR is fun to watch.

This was sold to me without any notice that we had to pay a fee to enter the park, then get the 'tour' set. We thought the tour was the tour!! We then had to buy entry to the park when we got there, and the internet strength is awful.. We finally got to enter the park and then we're told the tour set we purchased required me giving them a credit card to hold as a security for a phone and headphones????
This world tells us we must not 'give' credit card details, let alone possession of a credit card to anyone unless dealing with a direct transaction - but never possession to anyone without your oversight and control!.
This was a waste of time booking and could have led to significant exposure to credit card misuse.
Not a recommended booking for anyone:There were others before us who likewise were angry at the impropriety of the advertised service.
Stay away, people. A waste of money.

My wife and I visited as part of a Holland America Cruise shore excursion. Our motorcoach dropped us off at the entrance, and we had our admittance ticket and time given to us as we got off the motor coach. Our scheduled time was for 11:45am. We were told if you wanted to go earlier, you could check to see what the standby line looked like. I will say when we arrived, and up to our entry time, it was not super busy. You could’ve easily got in on a standby. We decided to tour the grounds and exhibits first, then line up for our entry time. You enter first into the theatre for a short movie, then move outside to board the navy operated shuttle boat to the memorial. Upon arrival we listened to a docent give a very informative talk. Then looked around for a bit. We took the next available shuttle boat back. The entire process worked very well for us. The museums on the grounds were great. The view of the submarine was cool. Next time perhaps I can tour it. We had a great visit, and would certainly visit again.

You sold me tickets on a day Pearl Harbor was closed. We drove all the way out to find it gated up and weren't able to get there this trip because of it. Sent an email to get refunded and received no answer in return.

I’ve been to the Arizona Memorial multiple times. I returned to again pay my respects to those lost on December 7, 1941, especially the members of the Arizona, but everyone in general. The Memorial is a very fitting memorial for those lost on that day. It’s a beautiful memorial, but very solemn in nature. This is something I think everyone should experience!

We purchased tickets for the 2-4 pm audio guide at diamond head only to find out when we arrived ( 20 minutes early) that they stop giving out headsets at 1:30. Why would you sell me a ticket for 2 o’clock when they stop giving out headsets at 1:30? Very disappointing.

This was a very informative tour and enjoyed it immensely. Lots of history that I never knew and wish I could have spent more time visiting Pearl Harbor

As a proud Air Force brat, it was important & imperative that I visit this memorial, this shrine, this hallowed site where so many servicemen paid the ultimate price for our country.
It was a somber and moving experience.
If you go, please please please review the guidelines and listen to to the instructions of the rangers and active duty service personnel.
This is not your average memorial. It is a grave sire. My advice: dress comfortably and sensibly. In other words, if you wouldn't wear it to your grandma's funeral, then don't wear it here.
You must reserve your tickets, which cost a processing fee of $1 (at the time of our visit). Do not be late to your reservation time, or you may not get to the memorial and there is no refund.
And I wish it went without saying, but young children would benefit from active guidance & supervision. If you wouldn't let them run around at a funeral & in a cemetery, then don't let them run around here.

I had high hopes for this historic site, but it turned out to be a major letdown. The Arizona memorial offers very little to actually see, and the overall experience was underwhelming. On top of that, the other three attractions each require a separate ticket, which makes the visit quite costly. You can find other World War II museums that offer similar exhibits for much less—or even for free. Save your time and money; this overpriced and dull attraction just isn’t worth a day of your Hawaii trip.

Very moving. It’s unimaginable what these poor soldiers and their families went through. The memorial is very well done and you are provided enough time to appreciate what took place.

This is a place you should definitely visit. This memorial was heartfelt and reminded me what USA is about.
Rich history, sad story, and proud to be American! We are the land of the free, because of our brave soldiers.
We went into the submarine and USS Arizona.

A wonderful place to visit, a must for tourists. It is solemn and peaceful, a place of reverence for those who lost their lives when Pearl Harbor was attacked.

Visiting the Arizona was both powerful and solemn. Tour starts on-time and the National Park Service Ranger did an excellent job talking to us about what to expect when we got to the memorial as well as the seriousness of the place we were visiting. I would absolutely visit again.

The USS Arizona was a battleship. Over 1,000 officers and crew were lost when the ship exploded during the Japanese surprise attack in December 1941. Unlike the other ships in Pearl Harbor's Battleship Row, the Arizona was never refloated. The ship still rests on the bottom of Pearl Harbor. The memorial sits over top of the Arizona. The guides say the oil that the oil that seeps from the Arizona are tears in memory for the sailors who perished in what President Franklin Delano Roosevelt called "a date that will live in infamy." The memorial is certainly sobering, so many men lost in a sneak attack.
Book tour tickets the day before
Tickets start to sell ($1 each) in 3pm the day before. I recommend you to book them exact at this time, because place is very popular, usually all tickets are gone in 5 minutes. There is also a live queue, but you’ll have to wait for the entrance for some (not exact) time. I also advise you to watch a short movie while you are here. You’ll know a lot of detailed information about events on December, 7th 1941.
NB: You have to leave all your belongings before your visit of Perl harbor memorial. You can do it in special storage on the territory ($7 per bag).
