This place is a gem. Very nice golf course. Cute spacious cabins with satellite tv, and looks like miles of trails that I didn’t get to check out, but for sure will visit with the family.

My wife and I camped here for 7 days in November 2012 in a travel trailer. We have camped in many state parks and this quickly became our favorite. The fall color was beautiful and our campsite had a great view of the lake.Park employees were some of the nicest I have ever encountered. Lots of great hiking trails and good wildlife viewing. Woke up one morning with 9 deer in an open area across the road from our camper. Did not try the fishing but am told it is good. Just a nice, beautiful, interesting place with nice people. You can't go wrong with this park.

Take the time for a small camping adventure or just for the day. Bike trails, hiking, walking, lots to see and do, and do not forget to check out one of the only remaining sections of the historic roadbeds used by Native Americans during the 1830's Indian Removals... Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

This park is huge. Over 8,000 acres. There are sports activities like baseball fields, camping, and hiking. Even a golf course. We stayed overnight in the "Equestrian Loop". There was only one more campsite occupied. Nice long, level sites. Water and electric hook-ups. There were a lot of flies though. And some varmints got into our
ice chest during the night. Overall a good place to stop.

Campsites and restrooms are kept clean and supplied. Beautiful area. Lake for fishing and swimming in the summer. We don't swim here because the water is muddy looking. They have an area for people to camp with their horses. There are trails for riding and walking.

We spent one night in our pop-up camper in this park while traveling. We stopped in the evening and left the next morning, so other than the showers we didn't use amenities. The showers were nice except the dressing area was not private. Also, like another review mentioned, the women's restroom was down to one partial roll of toilet paper. The camping spot was nice and the we were one of two campers in the loop we were in. It seems very quiet mid-week. Our camp site was visited by a raccoon and snake that evening. We do like nature and the outdoors, so we liked the visits. Bring serious bug repellent. The biting bugs were out in full force but then it was August in Arkansas. I figured bugs were part of the experience!

This is a hidden treasure. Love the quiet beauty if the lake. The campgrounds are well kept. Biking and hiking trails great. The park staff is friendly and helpful. The only complaint is the marina open only in the morning while there and batteries for trolling motors not charged. This is not a lake for party barges but trolling motors only. Truly enjoyed the nature and beautiful area here.

This state park offers boating, fishing, swimming, and hiking trails. There are cabins for rent, RV parking, in addition to camping spots for tents. There is also a store with limited supplies and a museum with exhibits of local wildlife.

This park is well known for its recreational activities and camping, and no wonder: its natural beauty is evident. But we were there for the segment of 19th century trail that was the Trail of Tears, and before that, the Old Military Road, also known as the Memphis to Little Rock Road. There is an outstanding hike into deep forest that we had to ourselves on a Monday morning, and it is impossible not to feel the weight of history and human struggle. If you like trails, traces, old roads, and the stories of people who were there, I recommend this park. Superintendent Vicki Trimble was extremely knowledgeable with detailed information about where to walk and what to see. The signage providing the stark reality of Indian removals in the 19th century is also very important to read before you start the walk. A beautiful, evocative place.

Good place to take the dog and hit some trails. Some are pretty secluded. They have a visitor center where you can pick up snacks and use the indoor bathroom.

We were happy to find a park that had tent space for us in March, and were surprised to find quite a few campers also chose to stay here. Very nice trails, and many other amenities that we did not have time to explore. A short, though winding drive to nearby Wynne for meals made this a convenient stop along our way.

I would give this five stars, always, if you camp, hike or picnic. But the cabins have become below our minimum standards.
When the cabins were built about 25 years ago, we were one of the first renters, and we have spent many delightful winter days in the cabins since then.
They are showing wear and tear of the years, but that is a minor issue if
everything is CLEAN.
However, the quality of housekeeping has dwindled to unacceptable.
Giant cobweb near the entry, signs of needed cleaning everywhere, especially
the bathrooms.
"clean" linens that were clearly soiled, floors that blackened the socks
of the kiddies as soon as they walked around in sock feet,
the windows
are so dirty you can't enjoy the view any more, and we had to tape foil
over the bathroom window for privacy because the blinds were in such
bad shape. Bedsheets are ill fitting and in bad shape, and the mattress
on one bed has lost all of its support.
Bottom line...decent housekeeping and some minor repairs would restore
a delightful experience in one of the most beautiful and unique parks in
the South. Otherwise, camp in the wonderful campgrounds or find a decent
motel convenient. Good luck with that one, though, because nearby Wynne
and Forrest City don't have much to offer.
It is a pleasant hour drive to Memphis, though, so you could stay there in
quality lodging. Just don't stop in West Memphis on the way... it's an
armpit city.

I decided to stop here for the evening while traveling across the country after purchasing a vintage motorhome. I had an issue where the headlights quit working and I feared I wasn’t going to find my campsite before dark. I arrived 10 minutes after the park closed, and the sun was setting. I was panicking, but fortunately, I met Kendal as she was closing up. She was so kind and escorted me down to my campsite in the dark with my nonfunctional headlights. Thank you so much Kendal for helping me out!!!

This park is a bit out of the way but worth detouring to enjoy the beautiful forest found in the park. Cell service was not available. Small shop at the visitor center and free WiFi available at the center. The campground was large with fairly leveled sites. Lots of trees and good shade. Clean showers and restrooms. There are some trails. Did not visit the lake.

My family stayed in Cabin 6, a two bedroom cabin, in mid March 2013. Though I had read several reviews that the cabins were getting shabby, we did not find this to be the case. The cabin was VERY clean. The shower curtains, some of the towels, and some of the blankets still had fold marks in them. They were brand new. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the cabin was supplied with 5 bundles of firewood. One room had one double bed, the other had two double beds. There was also a pull out sofa, though we did not use it.
The "back yard" of our cabin was great. We had a picnic table and a grill, and there was a open space for chairs and/or games. It faced the woods and was totally private. The only thing that was missing was a fire pit. I had called to verify that we could have a campfire prior to booking the cabin. I was told there was a fire pit. We made our own "fire pit", and had a nice fire every night. We had nightly visits from a very fat raccoon.
The park itself was great. Wooded, beautiful lakes, great camp sites (including some with full hookups), and lots of walking, biking and horse trails. In case of emergency, the town of Wynne was only 15 minutes away, and had a walmart, grocery stores to buy what you may have forgotten.
We will definitely return.

My wife and I discovered park on web. We traveled to park with our dogs. Beautiful day and pleasant 3 mile wooded hike with elevation increase of approximately 380 feet.
We checked out cabins for a possible future stay. They are not on lake but appear decent. Dogs are welcomed in two cabins. Park was a nice hour designation drive from Memphis. Will go again.

My wife and I are on a mission to visit every state park in Arkansas. We continue to be impressed with our parks, and Village Creek did not disappoint at all. First off, huge park. Large enough that you can really get out there and enjoy the outdoors and not worry about "outside" life at all. No highway noises or other distractions.
I'll start with the visitors center. Well placed, exceptionally friendly staff and a very welcoming area. Lot's of information about the area, plenty of trail maps! Since I'm on the subject of trails, LOT'S OF TRAILS! Plenty of places to hike here! Honestly, the only reason I didn't rate this park as excellent is because I found the trails to be not marked so great. At least, not marked as well and clear as other parks we have been to. WITH THAT SAID, the trails are maintained very well! They are even bike friendly and you can rent bikes at the visitor center.
Continuing with the trails, this is one of the parks where you can do trail rides, and even bring your own horse! We were ecstatic to see that not only could you bring your horse, but you can also rent horse stalls here. The stalls are well maintained, very clean and has everything you need to take care of your horse. They even have some fans in there for the summer time.
There are several cabins available to rent here. During our trip it appeared that the park is in the process of renovating the cabins. They are doing a great job! I peeked inside a few of them, the layouts are pretty nice and prices are not bad at all. You are not getting any great views with these cabins, but the "in the woods" feel one expects is there for sure. Staff was busy cleaning and preparing several cabins during our trip and watching them work leads me to believe that they do not rush to clean a place like you see in a hotel. They work hard to clean it and make it nice for the next guest. I would love to stay here and write a review on the cabins alone.
The 2 lakes are pretty good size and boat access is readily available. They take care of the areas around the lakes, so fishing from the bank and the water itself is easily done.
All in all, 33 miles of trails, 2 lakes, 7,000 acres of land......this is a great place to go, camp and get away from life for awhile. If you leave here unhappy it's your own fault!

Has to be one of the top 10 state parks in Arkansas. Located on Crowley's Ridge, the park has lots to offer a variety of visitors. Golfing, hiking, fishing, camping and much more make it a great place to visit.
During our stay we stayed in Cabin #6 which had recently been updated and it was clean, well equipped & very comfortable beds. Satellite TV is also available.

Much enjoyed and appreciated stay. I have traveled a lot, and this was probably the cleanest cabin or hotel room I have ever seen. Some of the older reviews mention internet--we had good access for our 3 day/2 night stay. The full kitchen had a great fridge, microwave, full-size stove and oven, and plenty of counter space. Provided was a Keurig machine and several K-cups of tea and coffee; we brought our favorite blends with us. Sipping hot beverages by the fire, on the porch looking over a valley, or at the backyard picnic table is a treat. A stack of firewood was also kindly provided. This was the most luxurious "camping" experience ever. Beds were super-comfortable, and pillows and linens were good. Rooms felt spacious. We were in a two-bed, two bath and the rooms are on opposite sides of the cabin so nice if you are traveling with others and want a little space from other members of the party.
We had to do some online work for a few hours while we were there, and the kitchen table & chairs were comfortable and a good work surface.
The staff were outstanding! Kind, friendly, knowledgeable, with great customer service skills in every interaction, both phone and in-person.
When I think about what we have paid for hotel rooms and what we received for our money here, there is no contest. If you like peace and solitude, I recommend trying this little gem on week-days during the winter months. We pretty much had the place to ourselves--just a few other people scattered around the park. Very relaxing.
Nearby Wynne, Arkansas has a Walmart, gas, a smaller grocery store, and a few restaurants. Note: Going from Wynne to the park entrance, our GPS sent us to the Golf Course gate. The actual entry point for camping/cabins check-in is a bit farther south. Also-TV had a LOT of channels. If you have an indoor day, the couch and large chairs by the fireplace and tv can keep you happily occupied.

A little more then an hour west from Memphis, this is really a great park to get out and enjoy many great outdoor activities. We have camped here a few times and always have a good time and enjoy the well laid out campgrounds with plenty of space to spread out. The park also has several cabins that are really nice and are well appointed. The bigger ones are in high demand and hard to catch a open weekend. The park has two lakes with good fishing and a nice swimming beach area. There are a couple of well marked trails to enjoy as well as tennis courts, playgrounds and a small museum at the front office. This is a really nice place to sneak off to and give the kids some time to really enjoy the outdoors.

This is normally our favorite quick get away campground. New on-line reservation system had our site double booked so we got kicked from site. Upon receiving a phone call before arriving we booked another site only to find there was a mistake and the 2nd site we booked was not available. The visitor center no longer sells fishing licenses. You can purchase on-line but if you have ATT there is no service. We had to drive 15 minutes to Walmart. We were really disappointed in the uncaring attitude of the staff. I hope it gets better before our next scheduled camp in April or we will camp elsewhere.

My family has enjoyed this park for years. Even though we live close-by, we have rented cabins for a get away. Great place for family reunions.

I came here expecting to go for a quick hike on an interesting geologic formation in otherwise flat Eastern Arkansas. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I could rent a Specialized mountain bike for $5 for one hour and hit the trails that way (they also have half-day and full day rates). They have far more trails than I could cover in a half hour and a good system of labeling intersections to make the trip easier. My only complaint is the huge number of spider webs I cleaned off the trails with my face on a Tuesday afternoon!

We went camping through twenty State Parks of Arkansas and this one was the hidden treasure. I was unfamiliar with VCSP beforehand but it is now one of my favorites. You can fish, swim, hike, golf, and so much more - without ever leaving the park.
The morning we were preparing to depart, we realized a flat tire. Rangers came to our campground, fixed the flat, and aired my tire back up... free of charge. It was such an incredible nice gesture you do not receive everywhere.

Played the Ridges at Village Creek, and inquired about a place to stay for a week long golf outing...The State park is right next door, and what a pleasant surprise, the facilities are superb and at the risk of costing me more for future trips, way underpriced.
We had a 3 bedroom 2 bath cabin with full kitchen, living room, and front and rear decks. We were hard pressed to spend 700.00 for a week of lodging and golf at 36 holes a day. Have golfed all over this country and find this to be the best value ever

We took our family out with our travel trailer for 3 days and really enjoyed quality time together. It was very difficult for the kids to go without internet and their phones for 3 days but they were kept busy with old fashioned talking and family togetherness. They enjoyed nature hiking on the trails and making s’mores and actually reading books and playing cards with grandparents lol. We setup an outside projector one night for a scary movie complete with popcorn. Staff at village creek are amazing. We love this park. Lots of deer to see.

Just returned from a family camping trip...wonderful experience! The park staff members were so kind and helpful. They had family programs planned on weekends. Really liked the private/family bathrooms in Loop A in the camping area. Bathrooms were cleaned daily. Campsites were well maintained. The park is just beautiful...nice picnic areas and trails. Will definitely return!

I was not impressed; I mean the park is nice enough, with a few walking and bike trails in the woods, all pretty easy to do. The beach is also OK, and there's a couple of pavilions for family/friend gatherings.
The thing is that the park has nothing special. It's not particularly beautiful or has any particular flora or fauna to be observed. It's mostly a park for BBQ and playing next to the water.

Nice place. Good fishing. Friendly and very helpful staff. Nice programs. And the racoon's are friendly too.

Good trails and a pretty wooded park! All the people who work here are so sweet and helpful. If I understood right they are building cabins:)

We had a group that rented 4 of the newly renovated cabins. These cabins are extremely nice and are very secluded in the woods. They did a fantastic job with the renovations. For the price, what you get is really a great value!
The park staff were really friendly and helpful in getting this all setup. I think their service and friendliness is a bonus to what is a beautiful park and a great place to visit!

The family has used the facilities of this park for many years. It has a unique geography, as it sits on a ridge surrounded by flat delta land. At one time the Mississippi River flowed on the opposite side of its current location, cutting away land and leaving the unique ridge. It allows for a cooler micro climate in the forested trail areas. The trail even uses part of an original old road that was once used back in the old "Daniel Boone Days"! The park center has occasional ranger lead education presentations that have been informative and interesting.

What a lovely place and AMAZING cabin! We stay at 1-2 state park cabins per year and this is by far the nicest cabin in a park we've stayed in. It is newly remodeled and very nice! We stayed in Cabin 1 which was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with screened in porch along the back overlooking the river and a full kitchen. The only thing missing were hangers in the armoires! :) Only $125/nt during the wk which is an unbelievable price!
The park itself has over 30 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horses. There are an abundance of horse stalls available for rent as well for overnight stays. It was extremely muddy while we were there so the trails were closed to bikes and horses unfortunately, but we managed to hike approx 20 miles. Not too rugged, but a few challenges along the way. NO paved trails if you are looking to push a stroller, etc.....
The best part of this park? The WELL marked trails! I can't say enough what a great job they do with their trail markers. Again, we travel frequently exploring parks and their trails and poorly marked or unmarked trails and bad park maps are a pet peeve of ours. Our dog Chuckie gives them a 4 paw rating for their signs along the trails. Perhaps the best trail marking system we have ever seen! Job well done VCSP!
They also have tennis courts and a golf course, but we did not utilize either of these amenities.
2 beach areas with boat rentals such as kayaks, paddle boards, etc.... Too cold for us to try these amenities!
My only complaint.....NO wifi in the cabins and my Verizon cell service did not work. I know, I know......you're in the outdoors, disconnect, enjoy, etc..... However, we travel frequently and I'm always on a "workcation". With COVID more people are working remote and this will be the trend going forward. Wifi access needs to be improved.
Free wifi at the visitors center. The literature says wifi at the cabins, but actually only available in 2 cabins (not Cabin #1) AND you have to pay for the wifi. We've never had to pay for wifi in the cabins. At this price I would expect it to be included. Cabin #1 I was able to get my Verizon to work occasionally if I stood by the bedroom window, but very slow!
Thank you Arkansas for offering pet friendly cabins! We are from Texas and unfortunately our state park cabins do not allow dogs. Therefore we take our tourism dollars elsewhere. Yet another Arkansas state park did not disappoint!

Very beautiful campground. Very long entrance road to the Visitir's Center and then another long road to the campsites. You are very deep in the forest and there are no outside highway noises.
The CG has 30/50 ,AMP service, a good amount of pull through with FHU service. Sites are very level.
We stayed in CG B in a 37' MH for a week. Enjoyed our stay. The rangers and visitor center personnel were very courteous and professional.
The only downfall is the location. Wynn, AR is about five miles away and does not offer a lot to do. There us a Walmart at the end of town.

I am impressed with Arkansas State Parks. The welcoming signs are beautiful and creative, park rangers are friendly, campsites and bath houses well maintained, admission is free and camping rates are reasonable. We stayed in this campground four nights during the week and it was almost empty so we had plenty of wide open space and uncrowded trails. Our large campsite on the creek included water, 30AMP electric, and a picnic table. (There is another campground with 50AMP and sewer connections but it is a little more expensive) A clean bathhouse was nearby. The visitor center has info about the area and a nice gift shop. No internet and Verizon phone service only available several miles away at the entrance to the park. Our television reception was nil but I appreciated the relaxing quiet. Our biggest problem was the voracious mosquitos and we learned to put on repellant immediately. If the insect population is an indication of a healthy ecosystem, Village Creek is thriving!
We enjoyed kayaking and fishing on both Lake Austell and Lake Dunn but only caught fish on Lake Austell and all the bass were in the 13-16" slot limit so we had to release but it was fun. We loved biking on the hilly park roads and hiking on the best preserved remaining section of the Trail of Tears.

Cabins just amazing! We were driving from Huntsville, Alabama to crested Butte Colorado and this was a great stop off the interstate. We only stayed one night, but the beauty and amenities of the cabins just blew us away. We saw lots of wildlife in the wee hours of the morning. I would love to come back here for a few nights this fall.

We had a great visit. The camp sites are well kept. The park has lots of amenities such as tennis court, gulf courts, Equestrian camp section and hiking trails.
Negatives: no Wi-Fi access in park, many work while on the road and need Wi-Fi, even our own wouldn’t connect. When it rained our site flooded. The site had a nice cinder blocks wall surrounding it but the wall needs weep holes to keep from becoming a muddy pool.

We were on our way from Abilene, Texas to Memphis, Tennessee & saw a sign that mentioned the park & decided we needed a break from driving. We started in the visitors center where the ranger told us some of the history & then suggested we watch a short film on how the ridge was formed. I'm glad we did, we learned a lot about the area that we would have never known about. After the film, we decided to do a little bit of exploring & started at the trails by the visitors center. Both of the trails we did would be good for people that have children or can't do the more intense trails. There was a nice little stadium area that you can sit down & rest, but best of all you can look at the beautiful scenery all around you. We then went to the other trail in that area & stopped to pick up pebbles in the running stream. It was a very nice serene area with small waterfalls, trees & just all around beautiful area. This area gets a little bit trickier the further you get in because it starts going uphill & around corners, so be careful with small children in this area. We are lucky enough to own a convertible car, so we took the top off and drove around for 30 minutes or so just looking at the beautiful area. There is a swimming area, pick-nick tables, horse stalls & barns & trail after trail to explore, so if you can stay, this could be an all day place to visit. Unfortunately, we had to get back on the road, but we truly enjoyed our time here.

This was a excellent park for our family camping weekend. The quiet campground is somewhat wooded with water, electricity, and clean restrooms with showers. The trails were fantastic and included some for hikers and bikes. A short loop from campground A to Lake Dunn took a little over an hour. We also hiked the Military Road loop that included a portion of the Trail of Tears. There are informational displays at the trail head. This 2.1 mile loop also took one hour. Both hikes were fairly level with short climbs mainly at the start and end of each hike, and both trails were lovely walks through the forest.

We have stayed at Village Creek State Park twice--first time 11 years ago. We just returned from spending two nights at the park. We rented the cabins. While some reviews have complained about the cabins, we found our cabin nice, clean and well tended. There are many activities at the park. There is a museum with exhibits about the local history of Crowley's Ridge. The hiking trails were nice and well-kept. There are two lakes with swim beaches. The beaches and swim areas are small. In addition to the activities in the park itself, Memphis is within an hour's drive. Also Forrest City and Wynne, AR are within about 15 minutes of the park if one needs to pick up supplies. This park is great for couples and families. It is very quiet and relaxing.

Visit for a spring break girlfriend get away. . Everything was clean and peaceful. Stayed in three bedroom cabin.....wood provided for the fireplace and there is a screen back porch with two rocking chairs. Walking distance to lake....all dishes needed for making meals provided. This is a huge state park with two lakes, tennis courts and a small swimming beach. We are planning to return when the pedal boats are in season. Can't wait.

The newly remodeled rental cabins were very well appointed and clean. Very pleasant place to stay. We trailered our horses to the park and were able to rent nice clean stalls with light, water and fans. The equine trails were delightful. There were lots of dirt trails with no rocks on trails. They were shady and had great views of the forest. The horse flies were pretty bad so use a good fly spray on your horses. Our only complaint were the horse flies!!!!!! Vicki a park ranger was most helpful, as she is a horse woman and extremely friendly!! The staff in the office were very pleasant to deal with as well. All in all we had a GREAT trip.

I love the park in the spring and the fall with all the Leaves! The camping area and cabins are nice. The trails are long and beautiful!!

Driving into the park we were impressed with the pristine views. Visited park for a family reunion. We took over 9 of the 10 cabin residences. The cabins were well appointed although I had concerns about the cleanliness of the furniture as they all were upholstered with dark shaded fabric. The carpeting was multicolored so I couldn't tell if there were any insect carcasses I might have been stepping on. I wore socks all the time and they did turn black in short time so I guess they don't clean the carpet very often. The flat screen television came with Dish Basic Cable. The kitchen was clean with all the dishes, utensils, microwave, stove, etc. that you need. The bathroom was clean as well with fresh towels delivered daily. Linens were clean and fresh and the soap was of good quality. Trash was removed daily as well.
I killed 38 mosquitoes the first night so after I had eradicated the bedrooms and bathroom, we kept the doors closed. I was never bitten inside the cabin but outside...whoo boy!! I sprayed so much bug repellent on me that you would have thought it was cologne.
They have a VERY good tournament grade golf course, good tennis courts and beach areas. We also enjoyed the paddle boats and kayaks. I believe one of the lakes is a spring lake, and it was gorgeous. The fishing must be good because we could clearly see tons of them in the water.
We didn't see the horses in the stables. I THINK they were eliminated because of the 2013 sequester. How unfortunate.
The park's hiking paths were very nice and enjoyable. The adults and kids alike had a GREAT time. No major complaints. I would DEFINITELY come back again. Next time I'll bring my bike!

My dad's side of the family has a family reunion at Village Creek each year and has for two years now. I am thankful for my family members who began this tradition so we can still see our family at least once a year. Village Creek is a beautiful area and the pavilions are very nice.

Really nice park entrance and little Visitor Center here. We only had time to do the Austel Trail, but we will definitely be back to do others. The fall was a great time to go too. Well shaded and lots of places for three boys to explore. There are some pretty steep stairs to climb, but such lovely views.

Awesome camping sites. Hiking trails, lakes, tennis and fishing!! We had a lot of fun there riding our bikes. The hiking trails we walked had a lot of mushrooms.

Beautiful park with many well-maintained trails. Staff at Visitor Center were friendly and helpful. RV campsites were spacious and clean.

Village Creek State Park is very beautiful! We took a weekend camping trip just to relax and it was wonderful. They offer full hookups which make camping just like being home without all the house work!

We stayed overnight at the park for one night on our way home from Tennessee. The sites are a good distance apart, and when we were there there were very few people at the park. There are shower and bathroom combos, which are the nicest and cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen at a campsite. There are a couple of shorter trails that are around the park. Pleasant place to stay; quiet and woodsy. I think it was $22 to camp with our RV for the night.

We had our son's wedding there and used the Amphitheater for the ceremony and one of the meeting rooms for the reception. The wedding was beautiful and everyone had a great time! The newlyweds stayed in one of the cabins that night.

Friendly staff, well maintained Beach, campground, toilet/bath house... Tennis court needs some work especially on nets.. but overall rated excellent for campers... just watch out for some mosquitos.

This was our first visit but will not be our last! We stayed in the rv sites (#44) and enjoyed it very much. Our site had an obstructed view of the lake, which was great for us because we didn't have to worry about the kids the whole time.(We didn't panic each time they opened the rv door because they couldn't see the lake). They loved the playground and the pedal boats. They had larger fishing boats for rent as well. We saw deer and nosey raccoons that had to check us out. Restrooms and shower areas were clean. Could use more privacy in the shower areas though. Oh and its hot in there. Take mosquitoes spray, repellent, citronella candles, and torches. You'll need em all! Let me reiterate that it truly is beautiful despite the shower rooms ands mosquitoes. We're all planning on going back often

Stayed in a 1 bedroom and then a 2 bedroom cabin. The cabins are very aged and could use a good detail cleaning. There was hair everywhere. All over the bathroom, in the towels, all over the bed sheets and pillows. It was random that every other light bulb was burned out. The living room furniture is pretty funky. The couches were stained up pretty bad and smelled of years of "activities". Other than hair and funky furniture, it was ok. I will probably return again.

We stopped overnight at Village Creek State Park. It is a beautiful location with great campsites. We were on our way back to Texas so we weren't able to stay longer this time. We plan to come back in the future!

We love this state park! We were actually there in October of 2016 but I forgot to review it. This is where my son proposed to his long time girlfriend during a campout with the combined family members. This has become an annual campout now and we strive to visit a different state park each year. The camping at Village Creek was perfect and we took a stroll after dark to the big empty field and the stars were so close you could almost reach up and touch them. What a lovely setting for a proposal!!

Our family of 6 (4 children aged 3-10) stayed in cabin 2. This is the 3 bedroom cabin. It is newly renovated and very nice. The cabin came stocked with what you need for basic cooking, soap, trash bags, and during the winter they provide a bundle of wood per day. It is about 1 hr 15 min drive from Memphis. This place is a great location for a weekend getaway. I highly recommend it.

Wow, what a lovely place! We camped in Area B, & had access to the "camper's only" beach on Lake Dunn. Our site, #60, was perfect: level, shaded, steps from a bathhouse, & adjacent to mowed fields of grass (perfect for both walking the dogs & wildlife watching). The Visitor Center had everything we needed to help us learn & explore, & the staff even gave us lessons on the plant life unique to this region. We walked a portion of the Trail of Tears, & took two very short nature hikes on the Big Ben & Arboretum trails. I highly recommend this facility for campers & nature-lovers. Note: we were able to get some Memphis & some Little Rock channels on our antenna TV, but the signal was spotty when the sky got cloudy, and the available WiFi is a pay service through ViaSat that was weak at best.

Travelling fast since we can visit places closer to home later.
Left NC on 4/20/15. Stopped in TN last night and stopping in AR tonight. It is a beautiful campground which was gearing up for a bluegrass festival next weekend. A number of musicians were already there and we got to listen to them practice

Wonderful visitor's center. Beautiful nature. The park is huge! Has two lakes, both have swimming beaches.

We camped in Loop C (Horse Camp) Site 79. Site 79 is a double site, meaning 2 campers on the same pad side by side. Site 79 is on a hill and we had to use levelers on the left side and we couldnt get it level front to back with the tongue on the ground. Bathhouses are super clean, nice and quiet family oriented, gift shop was nice enough. With that being said, we had a great time, no one was in the site next to us so we had a super huge campsite. I highly recommend Village Creek. Loop B all sites were level and had full hook ups and were $32.00 a night plus tax, we stayed in Loop C and it was $20.00 plus tax a night with water and 30amp service.

We stayed in the cabins. Dishwasher broken and fireplace broken. They knew in advance about the dishwasher, and did not inform us. Very disappointing.

We decided last minute to drive over from just outside Memphis and camp here on the weekend after Thanksgiving. This is a wonderful spot for a quick getaway. We stayed in Loop A site 40 (a really cool multi level camp site!). The bathrooms were a wonderful surprise! We love the private suite bathrooms (Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!). The park offered so many activities. I came for hiking, so we decided to go on the guided hike with Park Interpreter Interligi. We were excited to have someone that could teach us more about the history of Crowleys Ridge, The Trail of Tears and also learn more about his job. He did a great job answering all of our questions. I highly recommend a guided hike if they have one available!
.
Other things to do: Tennis Courts, Golfing, Fishing, Boat rentals, Baseball, Biking (they have bike rentals!)
.
A few drawbacks: There is ZERO cell service at this park! We weren't prepared for this ahead of time, so we had to go back to the park office to connect to the wifi so that we could notify our family of our whereabouts in case of emergency. It would be nice if they would offer wifi at the campground (other places do). Also, the swinging bridge is still out. That was a disappointment. Hopefully they can get funding to complete repairs soon.

We sure wish we had more time at this place! It's got a wealth of nature trails, walking paths, biking and horse trails too.
The bathrooms are awesome! They are clean, updated, smell nice and have lots of room. This really was amazing for us as we hadn't had the chance to clean up for a couple of days. New tile in the showers and floors, a bench and full sink/counter vanity, high ceilings and a normal toilet really made this an exceptional amenity.
Campsites are in excellent conditions. Tent pads are clearly marked and just back off the road enough.
Good for families, pets, and all levels camping/campers...we will definitely be back!!!

There was seven of us and seven horses for a fabulous equestrian getaway.
The horse stalls were conveniently located, clean and safe with a restroom close by. The horses were comfy and happy.
The cabins were amazing. We rented two....the modern and the rustic. Both were large and luxurious. The screened in back porch and outdoor picnic table were an unexpected bonus.
No wi-fi and spotty cell service but both were available at the visitor center where the delightful gift shop located. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Last but certainly not least....the trails. Beautifully maintained and well marked multi-use trails were a delight. Not very rocky so my tender-footed horse was fine in front boots only. Trail maps are available at the visitor center and maps at trail intersections. Easy to choose loops for the length of ride, hike or bike you prefer.
We can't wait to go back. Super facilities at a great price.

Village Creek State Park is a wonderful place to spend the day or camp for several days. It is located on Crowley's Ridge, just outside of Wynne, AR. It is 20 minutes north of Forrest City and a hour outside of Memphis, TN. It has two small lakes and several trails. Lake Austell has a boat ramp (no large engines) and all the day activities. Lake Dunn also has a boat ramp (no large engines) and dock. There are 10 cabins that can be rented and 3 camp grounds. The lower camp ground has water and 30 amp electric. The middle campground caters to larger RVs and has level sites, electric, water, and our favorite--sewer hook up! The upper camp ground is an equestrian site with stables.
We have camped here twice this year. The grounds are very clean and well kept. We stayed in lower site for a weekend in late May. It was cool and perfect campfire weather. Our site was shady and the creek was just behind us. We camped in the middle camp ground over the 4th of July and stayed for 5 days this time. We were almost taken away by the mosquitoes. There is a private swim beach for campers at the middle camp ground, but SEVERAL non campers were driving in and using it and the beach area is steep and muddy. Not a place I enjoyed.
Village Creek will be our go to cool weather campground. I look forward to going back.

We went in june traveling through 6 states camping all the way and I must say that out of all of them, this was the only site where we couldn't deal with mosquitoes. If you camp here, don't do it by the creek and make sure you bring plenty of mosquito repellents. I would also maybe recommend going here in the colder season.

Everything was very clean and neat. Bathroom was spotless with plenty of clean white towels. Screened in back porch with rockers. Very spacious inside. Very nice as a romantic getaway. Plenty to explore and get in to.

Do not arrive after the visitor center closes if you have a cabin reservation. We did, and were unable to get into our lodging, despite using the code they gave us for the electronic lock. We called three emergency numbers for park staff that were provided, and no one answered. We ended up going to a hotel in Forrest City. When we called the next day, we were told that this is a known issue and they said they would refund our money.

We were lucky to find this beautiful, wooded, well maintained park in East Cenral Arkansas. The hilly hardwood forest is in stark contrast to the nondescript flat land it rises above. Campsites are very large with level concrete pads, fire rings, grills and picnic tables, water, electric and sewer. There is a playground and beach in camping area B. The lake is great for bass and crappie fishing. Park staff was friendly and helpful. We will return here if ever in the area again.

Thank you to Ranger Heather who was kind enough to come meet our hiking group and give us an overview of the Trail of Tears. Just enough info to prepare us as we saw this, the best preserved portion of that trail. A hot day as we hiked several trails but the main office and campground facilities were clean and well stocked. We did see a copperhead snake on the trail and I had two ticks on me (wore pants and long sleeved shirt). the Ranger did warn us about ticks so come prepared!
Family and Friends’ Picnic
It is a park where families and friends can go anytime. You can do fishing, grilling, hiking, swimming, playing, and sight seeing. There is a store for souvenirs too.
