Wonderful beach with the contrast of crystal clear waters and urban buildings. Sunsets are unique. We enjoy them from the sand or swimming in the sea as surprisingly in November the water is warmer at that time.

I visited my friends in Hawaii and went to Waikiki beach for the first time but it was much better than I expected and it's now my favorite beach. Clear water and beautiful beach is must see !

"Beach Yoga" is recommended ... ✨ Especially at sunrise time, yoga on the beach was great for refreshing!!! I want to go again next year ♪♪

Our trip was arranged by Delta Vacations and we spent our whole week in Honolulu. We were lucky enough to stay at the Moana Surfrider hotel by Westin. We would never have been able to afford it if we booked it ourselves. Our swimming pool was not crowded but why go there when you have the ocean!
It is true, EVERYTHING is so expensive! The food was average at the 4 or 5 places in the hotel. And, once we left the hotel it was always crowded! The traffic was bad until we took a tour around the island...that was uncrowded and beautiful.
Next time, I'll go to one of the other islands.

One of the most famous beaches in the world and its reputation is well earned. Yes, it's incredibly popular and this is not the beach to experience peace and solitude. However, it's a wide beach that stretches for a mile and can handle the crowds. The water is warm and clear with good wave action and has a sandy floor that has a gentle slope. Best of all is the iconic views of Diamond Head to the south and the dozens of high-rise hotels and condos behind you giving you an incredible mixture of being in a cosmopolitan setting combined with natural beauty. Numerous bars and restaurants along with shopping opportunities nearby. It all creates a unique lively vibe. One day we came at sunset and hung out at The Beach Bar at the Moana Surfrider Hotel followed by dinner at the Beachhouse also at the hotel. We returned another day but arrived in the late morning. We accessed the beach by photogenic Waikiki Surf Alley and parked ourselves between the Royal Hawaiian and the Outrigger Hotels. It wasn't too busy yet on the weekday we were there when arriving at around 11am. We rented a couple loungers and an umbrella and spent the rest of the day playing in the water and enjoying the scene. The only negative is that alcohol cannot be consumed legally on Waikiki as it is a public beach. Local police do patrol the beach. I'm sure there are creative ways to drink on the beach if you really have to but there are many nearby beach bars like Duke's and the Beach Bar at Moana.

Beautiful, clean beach. Crowded, but still enough space that you don’t feel like you’re on top of other people. The water is gorgeous and warm. We saw a seal (I’m talking 20 feet away from us on the beach) while we were there!

It is a nice city promenade, with beach, shops and clubs. Unfortunately, there are always too many homeless people in Honolulu and there is no feeling of being safe.

I love this beach, amazing people watching and surfing. I’ve surfed 2ft all the way up to 5ft waves here. Great vibe and location for a beach, I did 4 stars because the crowds can get large and be an issue for space. I personally don’t mind this being a city person. It’s beautiful. Watch for the green flash at sunset.

Awesome beach, great for people watching, swimming close to resorts and restaurants.
Sights for the Diamond Head crater. Warm water swimming is the best. All of Waikiki is walkable, no car needed.

We were staying close by this famous beach and found it to be an excellent and scenic place to take a stroll. However, would recommend going early as the place gets crowded by late morning.

The beach is very beautiful and with that beauty comes heavy crowds. Carve out a spot for yourself and enjoy it. Check out all of the statues along the walkway and watch the surfers.

Very touristy but practical beach, close to all hotels and shops. There’s always activity, perfect for immersing yourself in the Hawaiian atmosphere right after the plane and taking your first steps into the ocean.

The gem of Honolulu. Fireworks on Friday night. Surf, submarines, parasailing, metal detectorists, slingshot rocket hawkers, and lots of homeless. This is the Hawaii trip everyone thinks of, don't miss it!

Third time in Hawaii, and third time in Waikiki. Beautiful beach that I want to come back again and again. It’s super good for surfing, very steady and beautiful waves. I learned surfing here and went to a few surf spots in other countries. Waikīkī is incomparable. You can catch a wave and have a long ride towards the beach, which is so fun. Too many people though. If you want to learn how to surf, this is definitely the best place to consider.

Susan here n Took a while to drive here with the Fam. It was a wild drive 🤪 Last time I was at Waikiki Beach was when seaweed got stuck in my toe N I had to borrow a kind man's slipper to dig it out. 🤣However hoping this time will be better n looked for parking. Hunny and the kids wanted shaved ice 🍧
We got to the beach n Parker n I walked along side the beach. It's covered in tourists! Oh n we got to the spot i'll never forget n let me tell u I saw more seaweed! I pulled out my pocket axe n ran towards it to kill it! Tripped on some dried fishing net n impaled my toe. Hunny n the rest of the Fam come running over, it was a sad time. Blood poured out of my toe n some guy walked by n asked if I was ok. I said no n he was just walking away, I got flashbacks n remembered what I had to do! Parker sat there videoing me in pain n I got up n grabbed his phone, I used a sharp corner to dig out the sand, seaweed was the only choice for the bandage n my toe hated it. Seaweed n my toe hate each other, anyway. I got up n wrapped the seaweed around my toe n walked down to the shore, took off my dress n went into the ocean. My trip to Waikiki felt completed. Please have a beautiful day in waikiki n dont let the pain ruin it. Have a nice day, Aloha n Mahalo for reading this. -Trust in Susan

Pretty but over hyped. Everythingin the area is designed to separate you from your money. Look at restraunts along the outside edge of the area for good food at cheaper prices. Parking is almost as expensive as a rental car. If you are willing to walking mile or take the bus, rental cars prices drop almost 50%. We did day rental to a old over night parking fees.

great as always but cold this year. Typically like morning walks which is quiet on Waikiki and the best ime to visit.

If you are a surfer, you will enjoy Waikīkī. If not, like me you will simply enjoy the beach. It’s beautiful and clean.
If you plan to visit in the future, wait until September or October. There will be an airtran that can be taken from Waikīkī to the other side, giving tourists an opportunity for future stays on the opposite side of Waikiki.
The airtran should and “ should” is the key word here completed by August 2025. Research that before you travel.
Ask the locals where they dine. You will find not so expensive places to dine.

A time was HAD at this beach. I think about it every day. Both during the day and at night there is gorgeous views, and the weather was always perfect.

Busy but Beautiful! I guess it’s to be expected, going after Christmas and before New Year that it would be busy. I’ve never seen Waikiki beach so busy. It was still beautiful and enjoyable until someone decided to put their towel right on mine. Can we not respect at least a one foot between people. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for. Personal space people.

Beautiful beach, especially at sunset.
We visited Waikiki Beach on the very first day of our stay on Oahu and let the day end very relaxed.
The boardwalk invites you to linger and you should look out for the statues, including those of Duke Kahanamoku, decorated with leis (flower necklaces).
You can spend a whole day here, but perhaps not only for swimming, but also for strolling around and exploring.
You can also work through your list of typical Hawaiian souvenirs :)
Be sure to stop by the Honolulu Cookie Company across from Waikiki Beach! Super delicious cookies in a great tin. A nice memento for us:)

If you like the beach, and you like lots of people, this is the place to be. Our favorite part was down by the zoo.

Recommend going later in the day unless you are a sun worshiper. Spending the last few hours of sun at the beach watching the surfers and then the sun go down was fantastic. After a coffee a walk up the main shopping road where the pavements come alive with street entertainers was a great sight.

There are many people at the beach, there are many restaurants nearby. The sunset is very beautiful.

Of course the beach is great, that is why you come here. But note that while Waikiki is located on the East side of the island, you can get good views of the sunsets as well. Spectacular.

Truly mixed feelings about Waikiki Beach. It was a much different island when I was growing up there. (Nothing stays the same).
The iconic view of the beachfront hotels with Diamond Head as a backdrop; unfortunately, Hawaii has become saturated with tourists--some of whom treat the State as a glorified Disneyland.
Nevertheless, Waikiki Beach will always live on in my childhood heart; however, I've swam in other quintessential beaches in my global travels.

We were told a lot to be aware of and I was surprised that we did not see all of the concerns we were told to watch out for

Waikiki Beach can get very full of tourists, so best to get there early and claim your spot. You can watch surfers along the beach. There is a nice walkway along the beach that makes for an enjoyable stroll.

As part Polynesian, I go back to Hawaii once/year with family for the 11 years.
We love it there more every year.
The post-breakfast morning walk in the beach was relaxing and beautiful before all tourists show up.
I like mid morning sessions of surfing lessons when it’s sunny and water is a bit warmer but is not too crowded.
The late afternoon stroll is romantic before or tiny by sunset.
The whole beach is quite touristy but it’s very beautiful and safe.

Very nice beach with different areas to swim depending on how much wave action you want. The sand was soft and nice to walk in.

If you are in Waikiki, it’s a must to see this lovely but super busy beach. The sand is soft and the water is clear. But, because it’s so popular it is usually very crowded with people. There are surfing lessons available from here and plenty of restaurants or ABC stores across the street to buy food or souvenirs. We enjoyed it and watching the action around here.

We visited Waikiki beach every day we were in Hawaii. Always busy, morning noon and night. Our hotel provided towels, chairs, umbrellas etc. Great for swimming and people watching!

We spent four days here in October. It is a wonderful place with everything that belongs to the beach.
You can swim, the water is excellent, surf or take a ride on a kayak or catamaran.
We will come back if possible.

It is beautiful a good walk along the beach loved it no charge lots of people I liked people watching there are seats not a lot friendly people and polite
There are sports going on all day plenty to do we stayed for a few hours and walk back to the way finder our hotel
At night cars go up and down showing off made my laugh
The beach is clean like watching the waves crushing on the beach

I am from Florida so I am a little bias, but Waikiki Beach is beautiful and I would have loved to have seen it 100 years ago before all the buildings were built. It is crowded and no parking to speek of. Several places to rent surfboards $35hr, and places to sit and people watch. Many shops and restaurants to chose from. At one spot there is a breakwater and it is a great place for small kids to play in the water. Several lifeguard stations around.

Beautiful beach and sea,but soooo overcrowded. Beach beds and umbrella 100 USD for day or 54 USD for 3 hours. Not much of a board walk. Not many places to grab snack or drink. Sea dangerous due to number of people, surfers, snorkellers and two catamaran who sail directly onto beach. Not a relaxing experience.

The water was a beautiful blue. You can choose if you want waves or calm water. The beach itself was clean and tidy. I would go back again.

Loved Waikiki beach. The beaches themselves are clean, but do become overcrowded during the day. That said, nothing stopping you from getting down there early, where the water is still warm enough to swim in. Plenty of fish to see too. The walk/promenade is equally enjoyable.

We had a great time with my family. It was especially enjoyable to watch the sunset!! We definitely recommend this, we lost track of time!!

I was here with my work team and spent a couple days mostly on my own. What I would do differently: I would rent a chairs/umbrella set at the Royal
Hawaiian hotel. It’s $100 a day but would be well worth it. You can book this online but have to do it ahead of time. There are other vendors that will set up chairs and umbrella for you, I did this but it was late in the day so I was rows behind other people. Wish I secured my spot in the am.
I stayed at the outrigger Beachcomber - a block away from the beach. They also have a cafe with great baristas.
Dukes was great for dinner. Surf lanai for breakfast. We also did a party boat which was a ton of fun, highly recommend.

We visited here in May 2024. The beach is excellent. We have a condo about 2 block away from the beach. The water temperature felt great and the ways were fun. Highly suggest visiting here. It is a piece of heaven.

The trolley is an excellent value. We rode with Dominique. He was a wealth of information and made the ride much more interesting . A+

Waikiki Beach stole my heart! The golden sands, inviting waters, and lively vibe create an unforgettable experience. Whether I was swimming, surfing, or just lounging, every moment felt like a dream. A must-visit spot for anyone craving a taste of Hawaiian paradise!

This was lots of fun with our teenage kids.
We loved our time here and highly recommend a holiday to Hawaii for couples or families.

Waikiki is Full of homeless and crack heads! They fight in public, on the streets and sidewalks intimidating tourists. It is a shame that so many couples and families pay so much to come here and have to see this horrific sight everywhere in Waikiki. The Mayor, the Governor and all State Reps should be ashamed.

Homeless all over town and beaches, People doing drugs openly, significant increase in crime, Gun shots, Laud bike and car engine noise, why bother with waikiki when you can go to the other islands. Yes the weather is good but no longer the waikiki it used to be. Skip thisplace.

Waikiki beach was out favorite of the several we visited. The sand was beautiful and silky, water was warm and clear and was shallow enough for our kid to have plenty of area to roam and play before it deepened. Just watch out for the coral in some areas! We loved it!

Waikiki Beach has always been on my vacation bucket list. It’s Hawai’i. It’s sunny. Palm trees galore. Sunsets. A beautiful beachfront. Yet… I have been to much better and more beautiful beaches on the mainland and around the world. Waikiki might be one of the most famous beaches in the world, but being famous and being among the best are not the same thing. We were here five days at the Waikiki Marriott Resort.

It's so famous that I don't think I need to comment now.
It's always lively, no matter the time of day, and surfers come not only during the day but also after work.

This review happened in April 2025. My wife and went to Oahu, Hawaii for vacation. We visited Waikiki Beach twice during our stay. It is a beautiful beach but with that said it was crowded, busy, and a lot is going on. The beach is broken into four areas. Each offering a little different ocean experience. Two areas are open to the ocean, and you get the full effect of the waves. Another area is semi-closed to the ocean and provides a relaxing swim and is great for families and kids. Another area is completely closed off from the ocean and is even more calming then the other three areas. This area is also perfect for kids and families. They do have lifeguards in all four areas. There are also stans that rent out beach equipment from surfboards, beach chairs to umbrellas and some even offer surf lessons (Picture included of one stand's prices). There are bathrooms and they are decent, like I said it's busy place, so they are used. There are also stands that offer snacks and drinks. But there are ABS stores in front of the Waikiki so you can always stop by and pick up what you need for a great beach day. There is also a policy station next to the beach and you do see the policy patrolling in police vehicles and walking around. It's a pretty safe beach but you do see homeless (So stay observant). Lots of restaurants and gift store are located around or near Waikiki so you always have choices. It's worth your time to visit. We highly recommend you stop by and have an experience.

A gorgeous beach with many wonderful sites to see. Water is warm, life guards patrol, you can’t come to Waikiki and honestly not go to the beach

My wife and I along with another couple recently visited Honolulu on a cruise vacation. While there, we spent a few hours at Waikiki Beach. This beach is amazing! The views of Diamond Head are outstanding. The sand is really nice and the water enjoyable.

We were at a hotel in Waikiki, for 2 weeks, so we got to see several areas of this lengthy, lovely beach. We walked along Kalakaua Ave. several days, along the wide sidewalk, and ended-up, going in and out of several beaches and areas. The furthest east we got to was Kapiolani Park Beach, and furthest west we got was the beach in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort, Kahanamoku Beach (with seeing these beaches in between, Queen's, Kuhio, and Ft. DeRussy). Many had park areas where one could sit in the shade or get a bit of sun. One evening, after dinner, we headed along to Kuhio Beach, and noticed a crowd, and when we got to a certain spot on the beach, we realized all of those people/kids were waiting for sunset, which was happening in about 10 minutes....beautiful, and seeing all the people silhouetted by the oncoming darkness, was cool! Several food locations in the Kuhio Beach area, the main area. Also at the eastern end of Kuhio Beach, there is a breakwater area, which makes it a safe, bay-type place, for families or adults, to swim in calm waters, where no waves would bother anyone. Several palm trees along these beaches, and an old Banyon Tree at Kuhio area!!

We loved Waikiki Beach. The beach was right in front of our hotel and from our suite we had a fantastic view of the entire beach. The water was wonderful and the beach clean. There was always something going on, but we never had the feeling that it was too busy. Of course, you have to be aware that you are on one of the most popular beaches in a big city. The sunset was a highlight. The mixture of sandy beach, turquoise water, palm trees and skyscrapers is definitely worth seeing. Bars, restaurants and shopping opportunities can be found everywhere.

Perfect beach with several restaurants, beach bars and ABC stores close to the beach. Also, a stunning view on Diamond Head and amazing sundown.

This Beach is well known the world over. Elvis visited it, filming Blue Hawaii. McGarrett and his team chased bad guys on it many times on Hawaii 5 0. Waikiki is World Famous, and for very good reasons.

Water and beaches are very clean. There are restaurants and stores along the beach making it easy for options to dine and shop after the beach!

Beautiful backdrop. Tiny, dirty beach. Jam packed with tourists. You’re literally brushing shoulders with everyone there.

The best beach I have either been on. Everyone was clam and collected and no fought over some sand. The water was clear blue and you could see for miles.

While the water is crystal clear and it’s what you imagine a beach in Hawaii to look like, it is very busy. We expected Waikīkī beach to be busy so we didn’t plan on spending much time here, but even before sunset the water is crowded with people. Just something to keep in mind when planning your Hawaii trip and beach time.

Waikiki Beach is iconic and so pretty. We never get bored here. There are spectacular views of Diamond Head, the city and of course the ocean with boats and ships. Although, it was busy in certain sections, there was always space to set up on the sand to relax or have a swim.
On this vacation, we really enjoyed watching the sunsets from the beach. The surfers were often still in the water catching waves. There are a variety of bronze statues along here where people leave their leis before returning home. Also, plenty of restaurants, some food trucks and places where you can enjoy shave ice too!!

I went there and loved it . The sand was soo smooth.!!
The water was really clean. When I dive there ı can see the under the water easily. I want to go there again.

Can't believe I finally made it here! I stayed in the area so I was able to visit several times during my stay. Even went back at sunrise the day I was leaving - obviously less crowded at that time and peaceful. I loved it!

Waikiki Beach is beautiful, no doubt about it, however, it is sad how built up the area is with hotels and high-end designer stores. The hotel we stayed at was right across the street from the beach, so we did make a few brief visits during our stay. The beach was EXTREMELY crowded on the weekend and it was slightly less crowded on the weekdays.
One evening, we watched the sun set on the beach. It was neat to the watch the sun "sink" into the ocean, but I've seen far more beautiful and colorful sunsets in Wisconsin.
There are TONS of pigeons and other birds that are way too comfortable being around people, so if you are not a fan of birds, you will probably not enjoy your visit.
We noticed quite a few homeless and/or drug-addicted people walking around. One man in particular was screaming obscenities and got a little too close to my daughter, but fortunately kept walking. The smell of marijuana was quite pervasive at times on the beach and especially while walking down Kalakaua Avenue. I thought perhaps marijuana was legal until a Google search proved otherwise.

Good for family playing in the sand, tanning - waves are usually enough to really get the body board going but good for floating if you brought a pool noodle/floaty!

What a nice chill place that is! Absolute relaxed vibes on the world famous beach, known from movies and more. The surf scene is there for the taking although the real surf champions visit the North Shore of Oahu to ‘ride’ the sometimes 11 meter high waves.

Waikiki Beach is beautiful and conveniently located. However, the beach was extremely crowded, and it’s not exactly one of the “best” beaches on the island. Come here early and have a relaxing beach day near your hotel, or enjoy the sunset. If you want to visit a truly exceptional beach though, this is not it (Try Lanikai Beach instead!).

No one can't deny the incredible and busy Waikiki Beach
Yes is busy and a lot people want to enjoy and have th opportunity to take the views of Diamon Head and what is that you may ask well.Diamond Head is a volcanic tuff cone on the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu. It is known to Hawaiians as Lēʻahi, which is most likely derived from lae plus ʻahi because the shape of the ridgeline resembles the shape of a tuna's dorsal fin.
Imagine swimming in the warm waters of Waikiki Beach and yes you have one one side the Waikiki building creating a back drop concrete arsis and in the other side the the ocean and diamond head... sound like a dream right ? well it is.
If you are lucky to stay in one of the hotels on the Waikiki Beach consider your self a lucky one because u can walk from your room to grab breakfast then to the beach to reed a book. sip a sweet drink or even tacking a nap.
So save some money and even if you don't stay on a beach resort u can find a cool hotel a couple blocks from Waikiki Beach and make a dream come true because u can catch a rainbow or 2 and find a pottle gold

I walked alone along the beach from 8am. I walked from the Hilton all along Waikiki beach. This was amazing. Quiet with a few dog walkers and surfers. The beach does get very busy as time goes on and the beach/sand is crammed full of people.
But going early I definitely experienced the best of Waikiki beach. I could hear the waves and walk without dodging people. Definitely worth a visit you can’t come to Honolulu without a visit to Waikiki beach!

Very busy, water murky but warm, went snorkeling and didn't see much then a turtle swam next to me, great place for cooling off.
Lots of people in water close in, but quieter when you swim out

So fun!! That water is absolutely stunning - such a pretty blue. My boyfriend and I rented an umbrella for the beach just right in front of the Hawaiian princess - it's just so fun to people watch and swim. My fav part was buying a floatie at ABC and just chilling in the ocean. The Views of all the resorts and diamond head - just perfect. Have lunch at Dukes!

A good experience at Waikiki Beach. The water is beautiful, very clean and a lovely temperature, making it most enjoyable. The wall in the beach creates a nice little shallow lagoon appropriate for little children and less strong swimmer, making it a safe option to enjoy the beach as it lessens the power of the waves. However, there is a lack of shade and not enough beach umbrellas to hire around popular times (such as midday) Overall a very nice beach. My family and I even saw 2 beautiful turtles!!!

One of the world's most famous beaches, no question about that.
One of the most average beaches, also no questions about that.
But, movies, shows and tons of hotels around in a concrete jungle by the sea made it world famous.
It is a nice beach, but it's in fact a town beach, better say city beach.
On Oahu only, there're for sure 6-7 much better beaches. It's also not that big, so it gets very crowded.
We were in a hotel one block away, so we used it only for our morning swim and after that we explored the island in our rented car.

Waikiki Beach was everything I dreamed of and more! The sand was soft, the water crystal clear, and the vibe so relaxing. I loved watching surfers catch waves and the sunset was absolutely magical. It’s the perfect spot for some fun in the sun. Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely love this beach right in the heart of Honolulu. It gets crowded on weekends and holidays, but there's no better beach on the planet for swimming, as well as relaxing or just people watching.

We were fortunate to visit on a lovely sunny day. This area is very nicely kept, clean and inviting to visitors. The beach itself is very nice, warm water to swim in. The shopping area was very expensive

Beautiful beach to people watch from. Even though it is close to the road and all of the shops it felt like it was still quite calm.

Love this beach, so many great places to hang out and some well protected spots in the ocean. Bit busier the more you move towards the diamond head end, with the other end being the Hilton Hawaiian village.
Very safe, great for families and couples. Try out some of the hotel bars a long the way...

Went to Oahu for the first time and we stayed In Waikiki Honolulu area. I was definitely not impressed. Waikiki is so crowded and didn’t feel like you are in an Island. We will stick to Kauai for Hawaii Vacation.

The view of the ocean is absolutely breath taking!
Everyone was extremely kind, helpful, and hospitable!
The fun activities to engage in filled the gamut!

The most beautiful beach I/we’ve been on.Although crowded as you would expect there was enough space to not feel closed in.With Hawaii being eco minded it was very clean. With bars/restaurants being in close proximity, all there to stay refreshed. With loads of activities there. There was something for everyone, whether you just wanted to relax or be involved.Thevsea so warm and clear. To sum up,if I was told I could only have one holiday and no more.Waikiki(Hawaii) would be my only choice.Fantastic.

Totally overrated, beach not beautiful and artificial. Beach walk overflow. There is no real holiday mood. There are much nicer places in the world. I'm not coming here anymore.

My wife and I are from New Orleans and this was our first visit to Hawaii. Our travel dates were May 3-May 14, 2023 . We consider ourselves “active” 71 year olds and love the outdoors . We stayed 3 nights in Waikiki then cruised the islands on Norwegian’s Pride of America. We enjoyed walking the streets of Waikiki in the mornings and evenings and was prepared for the commercial aspect of the area. We were prepared for the crowded beaches in Waikiki but it was a little more crowded than expected. We scheduled two tours in Oahu, Pearl Harbor and a tour of the Island. I recommend both very highly. In fact we had heard so much about the “Road to Hana” tour , which we did, but liked the Oahu tour better. Over all, it was a beautiful experience in Waikiki which was made so by the very friendly Hawaiians

Very beautiful beach, towards midday it shines with very beautiful colors.
The crowds and the amount of homeless people ruin it a bit, however, its indisputable beauty

Waikiki was disappointing.
The beach is fairly narrow with poor surf and I would rate it below average.
The streets are overcrowded and everything is very expensive.
The reputation for American good service didn't hold true. Service was generally OK but not special and sometimes rude and unhelpful.
I wouldn't go back.
There are much better places and beaches in Hawaii and elsewhere.

There are a couple of good points for this beach in that the water is clear and delightful, plus the sand is fine and golden.
However this beach is narrow and as a major tourist attraction it is very busy. The slope into the sea is very shallow which is fine if you want to keep young children safe but not if you want to swim.
The worst part is that it is overdeveloped with multiple high rise hotels fronting the beach to the extent that it is hard to get to. There is even at least one hotel that has been built right onto the beach to the water's edge so you cannot simply walk from one end to the other.
There are many better beaches available.

Nice beach walking distance from all the “happenings” and hotels on Waikiki beach walk.
Gets pretty crowded pretty early. We walked to a few times just because it was so close. Definitely try to get to Lanikai beach on the other side of the island for a less touristy spot but overall a beautiful beach.

The beach is clean and the water is clear. There is a nice beach walk path to the downtown area. It’s a short walk (about a mile) but a lovely way to walk after a meal. The entire area a tourist delight, and there are public restrooms and showers along the walk. The water takes some getting used to the temperature but worth getting in.

Okay beach but extremely. Some extremely rude employees from companies like Oahu Dive and Surf that believe they own the beach. Large reserved areas for their surf boards and chairs. Go to North coast. Less crowed and more polite employees. Review for Oahu Dive and Surf postardes-vos at yelp. Do not recommend this company.

Waikiki Beach is an absolute paradise! The golden sands, clear turquoise waters, and stunning views of Diamond Head make it a perfect spot for relaxation and adventure. There are plenty of activities, from surfing to beachside dining. It's clean, safe, and vibrant, with a wonderful mix of locals and tourists. An iconic destination that lives up to the hype—highly recommended for anyone visiting Honolulu!

The beach of waikiki the advice is an experience to do. Frequented by locals. If you don't want to rent an umbrella you can buy it like we did. Don't miss the sunset with experienced surfers is a dspectacular

Love Waikiki Beach since first visit in 2000
It’s been more than 22 years since then and we come back twice a year
It’s so nice to walk along Waikiki Beach to enjoy the nice color of the sea

I've been to many beaches around the world but in terms of convenience and cost nothing beats Waikiki it's not perfect but it's one of the best you can find

This was my first Hawai’ian Beach to experience. It was very accessible from the street walks. Sand is soft, the water is cold. Just keepi in mind this is a very popular and busy beach.

If you like crowds, this is a great beach. You can rent chairs and beach stuff nearby or from the hotels; the beach is relatively clean and the water is warm. But if you like quieter beaches, go to Ala Moana Beach or Magic Beach at the top end of Waikiki Beach. Same nice sand, more grassy areas and trees but farther from the madding crowd.

Awesome spot for some r and r. A lot more crowded now than years past but a good spot for kids to swim.

Waikiki Beach in Honolulu is a tropical dream come true. With soft golden sand, clear turquoise water, and a stunning view of Diamond Head, it’s perfect for swimming, surfing, or just relaxing in the sun.

i wasn't super thrilled to come to waikiki beach knowing its very touristy, but once i got there i came to love it! it was super crowded every day of our vacation in the daytime, so it won't be quiet/empty, but the water was so nice and it was fun to watch all the people playing in the water/ boats/surfers. beautiful at sunrise and sunset and the crowds are gone by then. free hula shows twice a week i think

Beautiful beach with palm trees and breakwater rocks to protect from the waves but there are more beautiful and less crowded ones on the island. The seafront is beautiful and very well looked after!

It's a must-do in Hawaii, even if you don't get in the water. Strolling by the beach is fun -- sunny, beautiful and happy to be in Hawaii. Expect the vibe of excitement and aloha spirit to be mixed with the enjoyment of the beach. It's beautiful, though there are a LOT of people. I never felt unsafe there, even in the evening around dinner time as it started to get dark. Plenty of shops nearby for souvenir shopping.

Turquoise water, gentle waves and hip deep water.
A beautiful place to spread the day.
Plenty of hotel bars and restaurants to get food and drinks. No liquor on the beach, though.
Beach does get crowded, so prepare for somebody to put their stuff right up to yours.
Sand gets hot later in the day.
Bring your snorkel masks, you can see fish once get away from, the shore. You can walk 200 feet, in the water, from the shore!
Note: the shore has lots of broken corral and rocks. Lots of lava rock under the sand. Wear water shoes. You will thank me later. Well worth the $20 to buy a pair at the ABC store if you don’t have them. Ask me how I learned this lesson. I got coral imbedded in my foot and spent $150 at urgent care to have it removed plus antibiotics the rest of my trip. Don’t do what I did. Learn from me.

What a gorgeous day at the beach. Terrific weather and overall conditions. Clean sand and clear water. The Paradise Beach Boys location offered rental lounge chairs and umbrellas that we took advantage of. The water was perfect and the ambiance was chill.
Highly recommended

Waikiki is the place to be whether you’re into shopping dining in or dining out watching the passing parade and sipping on a cocktail at one of the fabulous beachside hotels Waikiki is the place to relax night life is great Street performers can keep you entertained for hours

First trip to Waikiki Beach. I was impressed by the clarity of the sea, and the morning walk and sunset were great. It was a tourist destination but it also had a calm atmosphere and I felt comfortable.

Excellent Beach and area- just gorgeous and fun - friendly locals - enjoyed stay at WAikiki townhouse and a lot of great restaurants while there, too!

I was expecting a lovely long beach and it is not. There are small pockets of beach squeezed between hotel only access areas! Disappointing.

I keep running, leaving the guard cut my bracelet and in a dry tone told me finish, in short I maintain my first opinion, really the staff is unpleasant

iconic beach that turns out to be among the least beautiful in Ohau. Chaotic, cramped and super crowded. The best part is the one towards the Zoo where at least it widens...!! Anyway, it is definitely worth a visit... maybe just for half a day!

Everyone says it's a paradise, but you only believe it when you see it with your own eyes, it's much more impressive in person!!!

Great beach small sand banks in most places
Hiring off equipment very pricey
ABC shops everywhere
They need more beach food and drinks
Walking around selling drinks ice creams
Food
ABC shops have the monopoly on food drinks
A cup up apple and a few grapes $20 Australian dollars or $9 us

Very busy and happening beach. Whether you want to surf, swim or just lay on the sand and watch people its a beautiful beach. Also absolutely beautiful sunset. Make sure you add this to your bucket list.

Beautiful white sandy beach in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort but accessible at other points. Calm clear water

I had low expectations of Waikiki beach, infact I wasn’t planning on visiting it during my time in Oahu but, you know what? I went and it was surprisingly lovely! I can’t comment on the whole beach, just the segment 100m either side of the Sheraton.
Beach is clean, water is warm and everyone has massive respect for any sea turtles who swim a little too close and gives them the space they need.
It’s a family beach, it’s pretty chill, there’s always an ABC within easy reach for drinks and snacks. Always plenty of people kicking about to make it safe to visit at dusk/evening.

It’s heaven on earth; the words can’t describe the feeling!
It’s a must in a life time for everyone who like to travel!
Definitely will come back at some point

Nice beach but not safe. Thieves steal the most random things. I saw a lady put her bare feet in someone’s Prada sandals and simply stroll away. I had my rash guard stolen when it was drying on a tree branch. My husband left a half eaten burrito on a bench for 10 seconds and some random guy picked it up and started eating it. My old water shoes were stolen while I was sleeping on the beach in front of our hotel. D
Leave your money in your hotel room.

We were staying one block from the beach so we’re able to visit a couple of times during the day.
In morning the tide was low however water is refreshing when hot. Went back in afternoon when tide was higher. Part has a beach wall that creates a safe place for kids to swim, and the rest is for surfers and those wanting to body board. It is busy so if you want a quieter beach there are plenty of others. You can hire umbrellas and loungers however they are quite expensive e.g $20 per hour for an umbrella and they sell out fast.
One if the challenges is limited toilet facilities, they have port-a-Loos while they are doing restorations.
Anyway you are always close to an ABC store for a cold drink so enjoy !

I was hesitant to go because of the many reviews talking about how hard it is to find parking. We parked at the Honolulu Zoo for $1.50/hour! So glad that we made the stop because it was a beautiful and iconic beach to see.

What a joke of a place. If you need to use the restroom or wash your hands, don't come. All of the establishments restrict usage and no public options. I guess you take for granted places that prioritize cleanliness and providing a public place to use a restroom.
I was here with my family at the beach. My four year old needed to use the restroom. The public is locked, all establishments around restrict it. We had to essentially beg four establishments before one grudgingly let us in. What a joke. You wonder why you see human feces often on the grass. Great sanitation Hawaii, keep up the great work!
Put in some portable toilets or some washing areas with soap? 4 million visitors a year and no available toilets. Seriously laughable.

There’s a portion of the beach near the Twinfin Resort that has a sea wall that creates a giant salt water pool more or less that’s great for wading or practicing paddle boarding if you’re new. At low tide it’s wadeable at not much more than 5’ in most places. At high tide the pool is over 6’ but calm. Plenty of space to set up on this part of the beach.
The main beach is long and beautiful with lots of space and good mild to good surfing on normal days, it can become more intense as a storm front comes in giving it great surf.
Overall, it’s good for solo, couple, or family visits.

I remember coming to Waikīkī beach as a child and the water seemed cloudy but the beach is clean and the water is clear. Beautiful place for a swim!

We've done a lot of Hawaii beaches and this is not my favorite, but i prefer serenity and sand and clear views. This is a packed beach, rocks in the water to avoid, and loud. Also, its difficult to walk the beach at the top , as there is interupted boardwalk/beachwalk paths. Easier to go up a block and walk the road.

Waikiki Beach is a must to see and enjoy!
The ocean was light blue and the waves were just perfect. We also rented a sun umbrella with decks.
It was a perfect beach with stunning colors and backgrounds. The ocean was very clean. What a beach!

This beach is always beautiful no matter how busy. We prefer to sit in front of the Westin and will sometimes grab a drink and lunch.

My husband tried surfboarding here. It proved more difficult to stand up than he thought it would be.
It was pretty crowded the day we went, but there was still plenty of beach to sit.

Waikiki Beach is iconic. It is also extremely crowded. There are rocks under the water making a non surfing trip not as fun. The waves are long and slow and gorgeous.

Nice beach but very crowded in the late morning/afternoon. There are definitely other equally beautiful (some more beautiful!) but less crowded beaches on the island but this one was a <5 min walk from my hotel and still very beautiful

Great place for a holiday for all, great restaurants good safe swimming in the walled off ocean pools and lots of options for swimming up and down the stretch of Waikiki.
Great shopping and an easy walk to the Alamoana.
Top picks for food, Momosan, Panda Express, Doraku.

The beach is very nice and above all clean, in certain areas you have access to public bathrooms, the only bad thing is that there are too many people for my taste, however it is worth the visit

What an wonderful iconic place to visit and relax! The water is so clear and the beaches are not over crowded. We stayed about 75 yards from the beach and there was a Baskin Robbins almost on the beach. There were bars, restaurants, and vendors right on the beach and an amazing fireworks show every Friday night. It is everything you'd hope and expect it to be. A must see and do!

Beach had plenty of people but not overly crowded featuring many activities to participate in or just to watch. Water was perfect and sand was great. People were all in a great mood. Vendors were convenient yet not pushy and just promoted a great time. Highly recommended.

It’s the place to be, to play in the water and watch the sunsets 🌅 My (adult) daughter and I enjoyed the surf, sky and sun all day long. We also met interesting people from all over the 🌎 globe!

This beach was amazing but there where a lot of people but I am a people person so that is why I gave this beach a 5/5 stars there is so much going on at this beach like hula shows wedding photo shoots and sailing and Sufing competitions it is a very eventful beach

It doesn't matter the time of day you visit the beaches, it's going to be busy with sightseeing visitors, surfers and walkers. I really enjoyed the Queen's Beach where the snorkelling had some meaning and it was less busy. Check the water clarity, go early and enjoy the wave action.

Beautiful beach..
All the facilities you need, you can hire all the normal bits and pieces.
The upper end near the Hilton was a lot quieter than down near the Duke statute.

We went to this beach at about 9:45 am on a Saturday. Was fantastic! Clear waters and sandy bottom. Make sure to check out the Mai Tai Bar, which is at the Pink Grand Hawaiian Hotel and right on the beach!

I absolutely loved it! The beach was perfect and it was not to crowded. Convenient restaurants and gift shops all around

Famous beach with a lot of life. You can rent surfboards and buy lessons.
On the parallel street there is still a lot of life. It is both locals and tourists who come here.

I grew up watching Hawaii 50 and other TV shows featuring Waikiki Beach. Definitely a place to visit for families.

It was beautiful to sit on the beach, the warmth of sun coming down on you while reading your favorite crime novel . Yes there were people everywhere, but the vibe was mellow and easily enjoyable. Chair rental was inexpensive, and come early to mark your spot. Beautiful to sit there watching the waves.

Right in front of the Haweiian Hotel, the fine sandy beach is perfect. Surfers and swimmers are already here from 6.00 am. In the blazing sun unfortunately too strenuous for us but perfect until 11.00/12.00 and from 16.00

Other than wading in to your ankles this beach is not good. Although if you are looking for beach volleyball there is that. Way to many rocks. If you go to surf or body board....so is EVERYONE else. Enjoy the crowded water, and rocky ocean.

This beach was a short walk from our hotel. It’s very clean for the number of people on it. We only stopped early in the morning when there were less people.

There's a part of the beach that's calmer and shallow due to wave breakers, making it kid friendly. There's a lifeguard. The water is warm. My kids loved making sand castles.

Waikiki Beach is stunning with golden sands, clear waters, and amazing views of Diamond Head. Great for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing. Lots of nearby shops and restaurants. Can be crowded, but the energy and sunsets are worth it. A must-visit in Honolulu!

As someone who hails from the Caribbean, specifically Jamaica, and has had the privilege of visiting many beautiful islands like Aruba, Curaçao, Grenada, Cuba, and Mexico, I had high hopes for Waikiki Beach during my week-long visit. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed.
In my excitement, I ran towards the water, expecting soft, powdery white sands like those I’ve experienced back home. However, Waikiki Beach was far from that. The beach is littered with sharp, large rocks that make entering the water quite dangerous. It was shocking to see such a renowned destination fail to meet the basic standard of a decent beach.
I honestly don’t understand the hype around Waikiki. Why would anyone choose to vacation here when there are so many superior beaches around the world? If you’re someone who prioritizes the beach on your holiday, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.
Sure, the beach itself is free to access, but renting a lounge chair and umbrella can set you back upwards of $40 USD per day. Over a week, that adds up quickly—and frankly, it’s not worth it.
For those considering Honolulu as a destination, particularly for its beaches, I would recommend reconsidering. There are far better options that offer a much more enjoyable and relaxing experience.

There’s nothing wrong with Waiki. It’s a nice beach with lots of people and you feel relatively safe. It’s also very close to the city. That being said, I have a hard time giving it full marks because it’s not that special relative to other beaches.

Waikiki Beach is world famous, which is probably why it is always quite full. Not quite as bad as Ballermann, you can always find a free spot, but in the surrounding area you can find some other beaches that are just as beautiful but emptier. The name says it all. And this is where all the hotels are.
Unfortunately, some areas are separated for hotel guests from the respective hotels.
Otherwise everything was very nice, a few waves in warm temperatures, wonderful.

Not for me. Just too crowded. I know this kind of beach is for many folk, or it would not be so crowded, but not me! They do offer surfing instructions and boards for those who are interested.

The beach and the views are awesome. NOTE: The beach is not "sand" but ground coral, so make sure you have something on your feet.

My family absolutely loved this beach, the water was perfect. the waves weren't too strong and water temps were perfect. We swam in the warm waters until sunset.

View for yourself. Path is wide and well maintained, can do wheelchair along easily.
Beachfront/sand is thin and as along main strip of road, gets crowded.
Plenty of surf schools for tourist convenience but research slightly outside of Waikiki options.
Best area to sit is left past the zoo and Lulu’s. Bring a towel, sand is soft.
Turtles are known to stroll in early pre sunrise but I didn’t see any.
Beach Volleyball nets along this area.
Sunset from Waikiki can be lovely. As soon as it starts dropping, streams of people from hotels run onto the beach.

Anyone and everyone flocks to Waikīkī beach in Oahu. Just to say you’ve been there. Great for swimming and surfing. Not such a nice place to be at night. Very clean.

Very high traffic beach compared to others beaches visited on other Hawaiian Islands. Lively evenings, note there is there is a free show Sat/Tues 630pm that I recommend. The singers had a great voice and when they ended with Aloha Oe I wanted an encore. The wave breaks locations are clearly marked on a map and the ones I observed had very shallow depth for surfers to literally walk at waist height to learn surfing. At same time, can be dangerous as I saw some (learner?) surfers narrowly missing swimmers close to the surf zones. It's definitely convenient to many good eats, but also quite pricy in Waikiki as you expect.

There are many people, but it is busy from morning to night on the beautiful beach.
It's a beach you can watch while eating at the hotel, and it's recommended.
There are many surfers, but many just look out at the ocean, so you can spend your time slowly.

You have to visit the famous Waikiki Beach - however, it is crowded. The water is nice, but wear some type of water shoe, the coral can be a bit jagged in spots. Fun beach - there's always music coming from one hotel or another, people are friendly. Just a good experience to have.

Of course, we had to walk down to the beach to see it. It's world-famous. The sand is beautiful, the water is clear, just the right amount of waves.
It was crowded but that is to be expected.

Even though we are not "water" people, we very much enjoyed the beach and area! The view from our 12th floor hotel room is excellent. We enjoyed the beach and watching the surfers from sun up to sun down. We found the changing water conditions interesting as well. We appreciated the enforced rules that keep it a pleasant experience for all both now and in the future!

There were good spots all areas of the beach. The water was different in different areas and could experience all levels of swimming and floating.

Much too busy, beach impossible to find a spot of shade, and very expensive food, if you want peace in Hawaii choose another island 🏝️ my hotel Aston Waikiki circle very small room but very well located if you like the very noisy city, A1 service staff

It’s definitely the tourist hot spot so will be crowded. If you want fewer crowds, go literally anywhere else. Still a pretty beach but better options exist on the island

Unc here.
Beach is fun 🥰. The sand is pretty soft and going in the ocean can get my old arms moving again! Mrs. Unc is scared of water though so she just sat on the sand like a weirdo 😒. There are rocks that do hurt your feet if you go into the water, and be careful for crabs 😢! A crab on the shoreline almost bit Unc, and I am now traumatized! Do not trust sea animals at all 🤬. The waves are also pretty cool to swim over, and there are cool surfers everywhere ☺️.
Unc Pros:
- Free
- Relaxing
- Sand is soft unlike other beaches sometimes
- Sea creatures (although they might hurt you)
- Canoeing is fun if you have a good instructor (JP i will find you. I'm joking🙈)
- Cool statue in the front of the beach
- Trolleys are constantly picking people up for transportation
- Restaurant right next to the beach
- Lockers are readily availible
Unc Cons:
- Rocks hurt your feet
- Scary sea creatures
- It can get kind of hot
- Sand in your shoes (but that's expected

Waikiki beach was the least fun beach we went to during our 8 day stay. We had a rental car and visited a TON of beaches. Less crowded, less rocky, better overall experience. Just head out toward diamond head and stay on the east side all the way up the North Shore - much better beaches. USE caution if the waves are high though of course. The amount of homelessness is terrible. I was told that they are flying them in from other states. Was here 20 years ago and almost zero homeless. Sad but they have tents everywhere and are laying passed out all over the place. They also are in the public beach bathrooms, so don’t let your children go in unattended.

….then you have to go see the world famous Waikiki Beach!! It’s busy for sure and boats pull right up onto the beach which was weird for me to see. But my kids loved ocean/beach time. And a walk along the beach at sunset is absolutely stunning! So cool to see Diamond Head too!

Washed Up on the beach.
Rather a few world cruises and so many iconic beaches.
have to say, Waikiki is extraordinarily ordinary,
Now to speak for it at all.
Just a beach.

Ok, so is there a bad thing to say here?
I’m a beach snob and coming from Jamaica, I always try to poke holes in beaches that people rave about. I couldn’t find any holes here.
The beach was lovely, nice soft sand, steady mild waves in the daytime and still at night. The temperature of the water was perfect. Depending on which spot you pick, there may be a crowd, but just walk along and find your spot and enjoy.

I visited in June and stayed there for three days, but I was surprised by the wind and the strong waves throughout my stay.
The waves were particularly high in the middle of the beach and I was walking along the shoreline when the waves swept my feet below my knees and I fell and got my luggage wet.
There was an area surrounded by an embankment on the left side towards the beach, which is recommended if you have children.

A lot of expectations and a little disappointing, a small strip of sand, very crowded and without large structures.

Welcome to the beach where the local wildlife occupy a portion of the beach. Don’t worry there’s plenty to share. We were so surprised to see so many healthy people over 60, walking/jogging on the beach.

Beautiful beach! Enclosed area great for little kids. Sandy bottom. Lots of walkable restaurants. Everything close.

February Weather was warm. Waikiki beach gets sun all day lots to do within walking distance. Dukes restaurant is a must. great infinity pool at Sheraton hotel. 1/2 price cabanas after 1pm

Recently went to Waikiki Beach and loved every moment. The stunning views, soft sand, and crystal-clear water were unforgettable. Despite the crowds, the vibrant atmosphere and endless activities made it special. Waikiki is a must-visit—I can’t wait to return!

We spent an afternoon on the beach. It is, as you would expect, crowded. If you enjoy just watching all the people enjoying the sun and the ocean, that is a great place to be. It seems the previously mentioned beach repairs are now done.

We love this area, although it can be crowded. The sea wall is just an amazing floating area, especially if you have young children.

I’m sure there may be prettier beaches in the world but this so iconic. Time can be spent just watching the world go by.
We had great fun watching the guys jumping off the end of the pier. What a fabulous backdrop of the stunning hotels.
The kids seemed to have a fabulous time in the enclosed bit of the beach which didn’t look very deep. Which in contrast to further down the beach where you can watch all the guys just waiting to catch the next big wave.
The toilets that are on the beach were clean and tidy and there was a water fountain there.
Life guards are on duty.
The beach certainly didn’t disappoint

Ive been lucky to have visited Maui 4 times and this was my first time to Oahu. You hear it get run down as a big city with no Aloha left. I found the opposite to be true. So many things to do. From cage diving w/sharks in the North shore to enjoying the uncrowded beaches in South Waikiki, there is something for everyone. We rented E-bikes and road to beautiful Manoa falls area. Even hit a great Kaoroke show at the International Market. With so many restaurants/bars on the strip it isn’t hard to find great happy hour/specials all over town.
We did a package from Expedia that was $2000 air and hotel for 5 nights at The Park Shore (see my reviews)
Is it a different vibe from Kauai? Yes, but variety is the Spice of Life!!
Aloha

We enjoyed morning walks on the beach. It was a perfect way to start the day before it got warm and busy with people. The walkway along the beach is also a perfect way to get up to places, such as restaurants and such, more central and northern. Even if you’re not a water person, don’t come to Oahu and not explore Waikiki Beach.

Beautiful mythical beach of Hawaii, right in the center of Honolulu, allows to quickly make contact with the ocean as soon as the plane leaves...

Since it's in the heart of Honolulu, you’re close to shops, restaurants, and bars. Waikiki Beach has a great variety of places to eat, from food trucks to upscale restaurants, making it easy to grab a bite after a day at the beach.

I went here with my family and my daughter was really enjoying at the beach. The beach was little bit touristy but felt like be loved by locals. Nice and clean beach with lots of attractions.

It's got the be the most famous beaches in the world??
Not as big as you’d think and does get crowded.
Excellent for surfing, sunbathing and people watching. The water is clean and warm.
Even spotted a sea turtle on a couple of different occasions.
Plenty of showers along the shore and some toilet facilities too.
Surfboard hire is very expensive on the beach.
I recommend Star Beachboys around 500 yards from the beach $10 dollars for 2 hours on the beach $30-40. $20 dollars for all day hire. On the beach it's anywhere from $60 - $100

Can get very crowded at times but always a nice place to hang out. Always enjoy a few hours at the beach. You can rent paddles boards, take surf lessons, snorkel. One end near the zoo is very calm and great for kids.

Waikiki Beach is located right next to a very busy street (KalaKaua Avenue); traffic is very heavy at times to get here. Public transportation drops you off on the safe side of the street (no need to cross the street) right in front of the beach. There is a retaining wall on a portion of the beach to provide a safer area to swim (little to no waves). It's close to fast-food restaurants should you need to have something to eat or drink. There is a very large shade tree between the street and the beach & ocean should you need to cool down or get out of the intense sunlight. Very nice view of Diamond Head Crater. You are safe on this beach as there is a Police Station located at the immediate west end of the beach.

Such a cool, easy, laid back place to hang out. The park behind was shady and cool, the beach was not overly busy down the far end, the snorkelling was entry level (tangs, small parrot fish, trigger fish and of course humuhumunukanukapua’a!) but on the first evening we dropped by there was the added bonus of two Hawaiian Monk Seals sunbathing on the shore, and a turtle scooting around in the shallows!
Also ate takeaway udon in the moonlight on the beach in front of the twinkly hotels on our last night - heavenly!

It’s a pretty beach, but it’s way too busy and overcrowded. I stayed at Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach, which was only a 5 minute walk to this beach (which is why we decided to stop by). On the first evening of the trip, we decided to watch the sunset. It was a pretty and peaceful sunset, but there was loads of people around and lots of other things going on. Anytime we passed by the area, it seemed to always be busy and packed with people.

Waikiki beach is a very beautiful beach especially when you have the view from the infinity pool at the Hale Koa Hotel pool. The weather is never to hot and the view of diamond head never gets old.

Sure, it is not a private beach where you can relax. It is Waikiki Beach after all. We just love how beautiful it is, surrounded by great resorts so you could pop in for a cocktail.
Lots of public space with good facilities. We simply got some beach chairs from the resort we were staying at, settle down by some palm trees, sat in the shade, did a lot of people watching. Then enjoyed the ocean, many areas shallow and perfect for families.

We stayed at Alohilani Resort which is a minute walk to Waikiki Beach; oh wow, the gorgeous colour of the water is ever so inviting. You can swim in the safe surrounds of the breakwaters or if more adventurous the open waters with waves that break close to shore.

It is a beautiful beach but there are other beaches around that are less busy. So if you are ok with crowds the this beach will be fine but if you are looking for something quieter be sure to look elsewhere.

Waikiki beach is one of our favorite beaches in Hawaii. With the iconic & picturesque Diamond Head view on the background, you can see one of the most beautiful sunset with crashing waves. The waves tend to be very strong, especially towards late afternoon, so not the best beach for swimming but the water tends to be more calm early in the day. There are so many restaurants within walking distance from the beach where a rental car is unnecessary if staying at one of the hotels nearby.

Beautiful beach, clean and clear water. Not note 5 because despite being well located it is the most urban of Oahu and I ⁇ prefer the wildest ones.
Very good for those looking for beach service with everything available around: board Reservation, canoe, etc.
It's worth seeing the sunset.

Legendary Waikiki Beach. The Great State of Hawaii, Hawaii 5-0 This is the Real Deal. Located on the Island of Oahu this is a Legendary Beach appearing in Countless Hollywood Movies.
Greta Patios, Sexy Wahinis, and onward. It is expensive but you get what you pay for.

The beach was very clean, and the ocean was sparkling. Being a Jersey native, I truly appreciated being able to see through the water! Early in the morning and after four in the afternoon, it is less crowded. We enjoyed starting at Hilton Hawaiian Village and walking the beach down towards Diamond Head. At one point, we had to cross through a resort because the ocean extends right up to the hotel line.

Waikiki Beach is a neighborhood of Honolulu. Waikiki Beach is on the south side of O'ahu, Hawai'i's most populous island. Waikiki Beach is only one of the beaches in this area, but it is one of best-known. Although Waikiki well-known for its luxury high-rise hotels and apartments, accommodation needn't cost a fortune. Waikiki is a good place to swim, or walk along the beach. Beachcombing is entertaining, you never know what you will find..

Finally got to experience this famous beach and wasn’t disappointed, although when we hung out it was during the Christmas week and wall to wall people. Serious. Many times we walked the beach and couldn’t get an umbrella or a chair. I’ve been assured that is not the usual. Amazing stretch of beach and a hollows which seem to go out forever. Hot spot for beginner surfing

Stinky dirty homeless Mecca. Over cost rip off low quality garbage state. Always has been always will be. Dirty ocean and the sand is imported with flees and other invasive species sand. Disgusting dirty water. Slum

How abt a microwave in the room instead of going to the lobby . I love the water station located in 7 th floor adjacent to our room

Waikiki Beach. You hear the name, and immediately you're in a daydream, even if it's only for a second. Very few names can work magic like that. And very few beaches are like Waikiki. Don't worry about coming here and finding out that it isn't as great as you imagined. No, the sand really is soft, the water really is crystal-blue-green, the green scenery is dazzling, the palm trees really do wave in the breeze, and --without fail -- the surf is up. If you're in Honolulu you'd better grab your jam shorts or bikini and come here.

No trip to Hawaii would be complete without a visit to the world-famous Waikiki beach in Honolulu. Not much of a beach really but it's still a much visit. If you are there on Monday. Tuesday or Wednesday make sure you catch the free hula and Hawaiian show presented at 9:00 am.

We had heard it would be crowded, and that there were quite a lot of people living in the streets & begging. But - we all thought it was a fantastic place. Lots of people on the beach - but the beach is so long that it never really felt that crowded. Love the way they have put the breakwaters in, so that kids (and older people like us) could still have little waves but not be too worried about being bashed about. The beach is always very clean, the sand powdery, and there is a lot of seating along it so you could just sit & watch all the activities going on. The shopping/eating area along the waterfront is really nice & there is something for most people. (Eating is expensive in Hawaii though !)

Amazing experience , every thing was good, friendly staffs, Amazing hospitality, good vibes, they really took car of us.

Gorgeous beach with great waves and tons of people. Busy but certainly not "too" busy. Plus it's right next to a ton of the hotels so we were able to walk there from our hotel.

Iconic beach that is small and narrow which allows it to fill up quickly. Try to arrive before 10am because by 11am the whole beach will be packed.
The water is shallow and you can walk out what seems like miles without it reaching your chest. There are a few rocky areas so I would recommend aqua shoes.
The waves are usually always tame and great for beginner surfers.

We stayed a block from this beach and it was perfect! I can't believe we actually visited this world famous location - it was everything I expected and more. The locals are so nice, they took time to help my boys get the right surfboard and checked up on them periodically. The beach itself was busy but worth it - I like to people watch and it was fun to see the diversity and interact with tourists from across the world. The waves were awesome, the water was just the right temperature and it was great to watch experienced surfers ride the waves. Bathrooms were OK but not a big concern as our hotel was so close.

The climate in Hawaii is very mild. It really feels like a beach resort.
The waves are gentle and there are lots of children playing there.
I like to take a leisurely walk around Waikiki Beach at sunset, rather than going in and playing there. The gentle breeze and the smell of the sea are pleasant.

The Ocean was Awesome. My wife and I did a submarine tour under water Wow! What an experience seeing the bottom of ocean and the sea life. This is a must do! Enjoy it

This was our third time in oahu,we enjoyed our trip like if it was the first time the weather was great,we found new places to eat with good food

We visited once in the early morning before 8:00 a.m. and it was perfect. There were no crowds and the Sun was just hiding behind one of the buildings. Water is beautiful. Views are beautiful. When we visited in the afternoon, the entire length of the beach was overcrowded.

I dont know what is happening in Waikiki and what the city is doing but they are really making bad choices. The beach has always been so beautiful and easy to access and enjoy. We try to go at least once a year. This is the 2nd time back since covid. First time was Oct 2021 and it was still great. This time, not so much. We paid a lot of money to stay at one of the resorts right there on the beach. While the resort was nice, apparently they have no control of the beach in front of their hotels. The city has hired a 3rd party to take over the beach. Literally take over the beach. There is no room for anyone now to enjoy the beach unless you rent your beach stuff from them for a ridiculous amount of money. 100/day for an umbrella. And you have to do it otherwise, where are you going to put your stuff? in the water? because that is the only place this company hasn't taken posession of. They've hijacked the beach in every direction. They have their equipment all over the beach. Chairs and umbrellas lined up within inches of each other from the shoreline to the hotel. Its a total scam. When I complained, I was told to "take it up with the city". So it's the city that is doing this and ruining Waikiki. We probably wont be back after this visit. It was so disappointing. i understand the problems with the islands and over tourism but this is not the way to fix it. This is making it worse. Tourism is Hawaii's bread and butter, why are you ruining that by driving people away like this. There are other ways to handle over tourism.

My one suggestion is definitely go early if you don't like crowds, but beach itself is very nice with white sand, spectacular views of Diamondhead and the ocean.

Stop and look around. This has a lot to appreciate.
I would suggest bringing find for the beer stand on the beach. Stay through the sunset. If you are a morning person, come for the sunrise with your camera.
We had beautiful weather and appreciate this beach. I recommend beach shoes.
There was a pickle board court in use all the time!

Way too many people everywhere with resort swimming pools so congested it was disgusting to say the least! How anyone can enjoy themselves is mind boggling. Then there’s the $25-$30 hamburgers and pricy soda drinks. If you want a decent meal for two along this stretch of beach, expect to pay well over $100-$150 without alcohol.
Oh…I forgot to mention some the obnoxious and bigoted natives that would rather you stay on the mainland.
I’d rather spend my time home watching my tree grow than vacation here.
Do yourself a huge favor and spend your hard earned vacation dollars anywhere than human gridlocked Hawaii!

Once I got here I could already feel the Aloha in the air! 🥳🤩 Mahalo!!!!!! 🤙 Cheehoo! Me n Hunny came here with the kids n put our things down on the beach.😆 U know it’s pretty crowded n there isn’t much space on the beach but the views r amazing.🤩 N they also had great people there. I know this because Hunny was sleeping under his little umbrella n I noticed he got sunburnt. R kids Paxton and Parker were in the water n I was just trying to take care of Sunshine😎. Ended up searching and dumping out all of r bags looking for sunscreen. None. But I refused to watch n let Hunny get sunburnt. So immediately went on n adventure.😏 I searched the beach n saw some local Hawaians. Headed towards them n before I could gage in front of me , tripped on a rock.😖😖😖 So the Nice family got up n helped me.😜 Mahalo!
N I noticed that I had scraped my knee on the sharp rock. 🪨 N now at this point I began wondering y these people r kind enough to help. Must be the Aloha in the air!🌺 They poured some cold water n let me borrow some sunscreen. Walked back to Hunny on my knee and started to feel toe pain.😨 Could this had been my toe fungus coming back? A few months prior Dr. Johnson had said that I looked good to avoid toe fungus in the future.🤷🏼♀️ Anyways now I put sunscreen on hunny n gave it back to the local family😎. Then called Paxton n Parker back up to the shore. (It’s Sunshine’s fourth birthday)🥳 They helped n built castles with Sunny as me n Hunny inspected the Seaweed-like substance under my toe in a panic . N then I started to worry. Ended up running to the Local Hawaian Family. About a foot away I was knocked by a wave n everything got dizzy. 🌊 Then my toe ached n I panicked. The family saw N asked what was the matter 🥴!! Showed them my toe n then they said they did not know what to do. Hunny helped
me up n walked me back to r area which then he used a nearby slipper to scrape the seaweed from my toe. However that did not work n only pushed it under the nail bed😱! Then Hunny used a beach shovel n violently got it out. We wrapped the wound in a leaf the Hawaian style while Paxton n Parker played on their Buddy Boards! Sunshine sat in the water n we all took in the amazing sunset. What an adventure!🌺🤙🏄♂️🏄🏄♀️🌊

The whole Waikīkī beach area is over built and crowded. There is plenty of high end shopping. A good description is it is a blend of south beach Miami and New York City. If you want on the beach be very careful when researching your room. It is a nice beach and has beautiful sunsets. The weather is perfect, cool with a nice breeze. But don’t spend all your time there.

So obviously, "average" may shock... but...
Lots of tourists in shorts, no respect, no room, rates for renting anything, completely prohibitive, not so hot water, not so fine sand and you're leaning against the biggest artery on the island... but you have to go because... you have to go. Showers are however free access, like toilets. that is positive.
The place is next to the police, but a bunch of more or less normal homeless people hang around... so it's not the best way to take a little quiet bath, especially with the family. Fortunately, all beaches in Hawaii are public and accessible and there are plenty of them!

From start to finish this tour was one of the best. Gareth is really a “can do” kind of person. We have hired e-bikes before but nothing as elaborate as these ones. Highly recommend this bike hire tour company any day of the week…. Thank you for a fun experience.

Beach is just OK. No shade. Bring your umbrella or rent one on the beach and Get ready to pay with gold.. You want nice beaches? Go to Maui.

The beach is nice but crowded. Best time is in the morning or early evening. Be careful as there are rocks not too far from shore and buried in the sand. I heard numerous cries of surprise and pain.

Famous huge beach here clearly popular with couples, families and surfers etc. Sand is soft and water a temperature you could happily enjoy. There are some rocky areas you can’t see but you’ll know about if you stand up in sea so maybe swim shoes are a good idea although not essential. It is quite shallow til a fair way out so you don’t feel overwhelmed. Beds and brollies to hire but they’re expensive so most people don’t seem to bother. It’s a must see and do area of Waikīkī.

Enjoyable beach with wonderful views and clear blue waters. Lots to see and do and it was great that the trolley ran near by .

I was there 38 years ago, it was lovely back then but not what I expected this time !! Whole place was dirty, homeless people everywhere, food and drinks too expensive - even Walmart !! Hilton staff and Trump supporters protesting on the streets. Beaches have rough sand full of coral. Best part was Pearl Harbour and the Red, Green and Blue trolley rides but take your $$$

Beautiful clear water, no rubbish, turtles swimming close by. Loads of people but that's to be expected. Get there early to claim a good spot.

Overcrowded and noisy beach with dirty washrooms and expensive service offerings. Not worth the time.

We stayed on Waikiki Beach for 2 days. Enjoyed it, however we enjoy slower paced/less-crowded locations. Lots of shops and restaurants, but also lots of salespeople on the street handing out samples to attempt to lure you into shops.

Beautiful beach with warm, clear, blue water. A seawall provides a gentle area for swimming - go past it and you can catch some waves.

The beach is amazing! Soft sand and clear water make it picture perfect. Get there early as it gets busy by around 10:30am. And it you want to rent/get chairs/umbrellas - be there by 9:00am. We had a great day relaxing on the sand, playing in the waves and watching the surfers!

World-famous Waikiki Beach is beautiful and iconic, but didn’t get me in my feels, as I prefer the more lush and unspoiled look.
However, if you like a vibrant, busy, and cosmopolitan experience, then Waikiki will check a lot of your boxes.
Here are my main insights:
- beautiful and picturesque
- not lush and natural looking as it is surrounded by hotels and the strip
- busy beach with bathers there as early as 7:00 am
- very active beach with people playing beach volleyball, surfers, paddle boarders, boogie boarders, parasailing
- there is an area of the beach surrounded by breakers. The water is calm and the beach is mainly rock free, but it’s like bathing in a tub.
- the area that is more open has a lot more rocks near the shore and some hard rock groupings that could hurt your feet
- the strip is very touristy, which could be seen as a positive and negative
- There are lot of shops and restaurants on the strip for those looking for variety
- the majority of dining options is not authentic Hawaiian
- food is not cheap. We grabbed a quick breakfast at McDonald’s and for 3 x Sausage & Egg McMuffins with drinks, it cost us nearly $33

While the water is beautiful and warm, that's the only reason to visit. There are so many people waking up and down Waikiki Beach that it feels like Las Vegas during a convention. The parking is impossible most places on the island, including the North Shore. If you don't have reservations for dining, good luck! Everything is very expensive and there are long waits for most things. Lots of homeless people begging. Just go to any other beautiful Hawaiian Island. Oahu is not worth your time. We tried to go to the far sides of the island, but were unable to park anywhere.

Great experience. Close to the hotel (within walking distance), easy access to umbrellas and chairs. Had a lovely time walking around the area.

Beautiful and spotless beaches .. With sand physimma.. Everything is relaxing as crowded the beach the huge beach will make everything flowing .. Beautiful.

Pretty good beach but definitely crowded and very rocky in the water. Cant go much deeper than your ribs unless you want some bruises on your feet.

It’s Waikiki! Travel here so often not much more to say than if it’s your first time go! If it’s your 100th time go!!! It’s got it all…sand, sun, surf, people watching…food…music nearby and plenty of places to get a few cold drinks…

Just returned from Waikiki Beach. If you’re looking for a good Hawaii experience, I would suggest some thing else. Very very busy place lots of people very very expensive. Beach was crowded. We did go to the north side of the island which was much prettier quieter better beaches my favorites are still the big island and Kauai.

this place is so beautiful, ween joyed every minute we spent there, would highly recommend going there. i was just amazed at how beautiful it was.

We enjoyed walking along the beach and watching the sunset. Great area to relax and enjoy the beach scene.

I first visited Waikiki in 1995 and I was shocked when I saw how much the beach has eroded. You can no longer walk the entire length of the beach because the beach is non existent in front of some of the hotels. This along with more tourists makes the beach way too crowded. The traffic is horrible. Would never stay in this area again.

Since we were steps away from this fantastic beach we made it a habit to take a morning swim. One must bring NO valuables to the beach unless someone is sitting with them at all times. The beach is smooth and sandy amd since there is an offshore reef the shore break is gentle. The water is quite comfortable and it is like bathing. Can't pass it up.

The Outrigger Hotel was one of the best we've ever stayed at. Our whole family loved it. The views were spectacular. We witnessed couples renewing their wedding vows on the beach. Restaurants and gift shops were nearby. We love the Hard Rock Cafe which was one block away. Out son's family took surfing lessons behind the hotel. We could see Diamondhead in the distance which we all climbed later.

A really scenic beach that is relaxing to walking on. The weather was nice as well. However just a bit of a touristy atmosphere with many people.

We had to tick the box on that trip and spend the day on Waikiki Beach. We rented Long Boards at @bigwavedave for a couple of hours. Great and tiring experience. The evening life is magical too. Great food, great vibe and lots of cultural show which makes Waikīkī live to it’s reputation. Mahalo🌺

This is a great place to hang out of you don't have a car to explore other Oahu beaches. Don't be surprised by the hotel crowds though. For more peace and quiet head outside the town.

Yes, it's a beautiful white sandy beach, with plenty of sunshine, great waves for surfing, possible to snorkel (but not the greatest place), and close to the really upmarket shops and hotels.
Just a few things that dropped my rating of this beach, that I wasn't overwhelmed by: It's really difficult to find a coffee shop on the beach much before midday. The hotels are open but give priority to their guests (obviously), so walk-ins can't sit at the tables overlooking the sea, so apart from that there's nowhere really to have a drink in the morning at least.
If you want to hire sunbeds and parasols the beach vendors are asking US$40 for 2 hours rental. We chose to sit on our towels as we were only going to be there for an hour or so max.
The beach is busy - amongst the swimmers and surfers there were catamarans going in and out on tours with no dedicated channels marked out for them to reach the beach - so pretty dangerous if you're swimming or, god forbid, snorkelling just off the shore line. Thankfully there weren't any jet ski's or motor boats whilst we were there so it's not too noisy.
There are toilets/restrooms and freshwater showers (cold) available to the public so you can freshen up before you head off. There are loads of restaurants and cafes behind the beach on the main road too.

Waikiki beach’s definitely one of the most dynamic beaches in the world!!
It’s centrally located and easy to access. Take a bus there as parking in Waikiki’s extremely crazy. There are lots of eateries and shops nearby, you can probably stay on the beach all day! Waves are calm so it’s surely family-friendly and surfing beginner-friendly. There are also paid surfing lessons. You can walk around the beach and ask for information. With experienced coaches I’m sure it will leave you remarkable memories!
Not everyone is a beach lover, but it’s still a must do thing to walk along the coast — feel the breeze and watch the sunset. It’s safe to be on Waikiki Beach at night too as the police station is situated there to protect both tourists and locals. No vendors walking around and selling you stuff on the beach so it’s a true chill hang out spot.

Sad Waikiki used to be a great place. Now it’s a one big tourist trap. Too many people for a small little beach

This is my 2nd time and I took my 2 teen children and it was still just ok. I mean it's Hawaii, it's the Waikiki Beach but it's nothing to write home about. It's beautiful though... you have to experience it for yourself! I'm not a swimmer or one who thrives on water, I just like how peaceful and beautiful it is.
We visited for Christmas in December 2019.

For somebody who grew up in the 60s and 70s watching the original Hawaii five O, I was looking forward to the glamour and excitement of Waikiki Beach. This area is about 2 miles long by 3 or 4 blocks of very high rise 1960s style uninspiring Hotels and Condos. Many of these are 30 to 40 storeys high, a proper concrete jungle.
The beach is narrow and crowded, and unless you have packed your own chairs and sunshade, the rental for a day is an eye watering $88.
There are plenty of high end shops and some good restaurants.
We stayed at the Hilton Waikiki Beach, one of many Hiltons in the area. We had a sea view room, but had to look over a parking lot and other high rises to see the ocean. As Joni Mitchell wrote about the place, “they paved paradise, put up a parking lot “. Nice pool but little or no shade available, unless you fork out $75 for a cabana, or $25 for a day bed with limited shade.
Glad we got to see Hawaii, but I would not rush back.

Watched 4th of July fire works from the water it was a great experience. Love the little sheltered swimming area with is wonderful for kids or people who don't want to catch the waves but ratehr enjoy soaking in the ocean.

This is a great place to relax or not.. plenty of food and beach options. I love it here. I would recommend Waikiki to everyone!

Fabulous trip, weather was great, Not too hot, people were friendly, Hamburgers were yummy and the Waffles with strawberries at The Cheesecake Factory were amazing, Highly recommned going upto The Skybar, Fabulus Food. Waikiki can be a little pricey but just gotta look around.. We did the 1 hour sail out from Waikiki Beach absolutely amazing.. $50 US each with drinks included.. Loved it.. can't wait to go back.. Uber can get expensive at peak hours so beware if heading back from the Outlet..but amazing trip..

We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the scenery was unbelieveable from where we live in Cincinnati Ohio. The beach was outstanding.

Would be my favorite beach in the US if I didn't live on the Mainland. Have visited Waikiki more than 6 times on business trips, family surfing trips, couples trips and it never disappoints. So much to see and do. Can snorkel right off the back in from of the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Bars (my fave is the Banyan Tree Bar at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider) and restaurants with great beach views. Water almost always crystal clear.

A great beach in Honululu. It's busy, yes, but if you are staying in the area, avoid the drive and park and just walk to the beach. Easy peasy.

It turned out to be one of my favorite experiences. The beach was gorgeous, and swimming with Diamond Head in the background is a memory I’ll never forget. It’s a busy spot with a city vibe, but everyone was so friendly and it made the whole experience even better.

Loved waikiki beach, it is one of the best beaches I've been to. Some sections are very calm and shallo, others are deeper with bigger waves. The water is warm and crystal clear. The beach was a bit crowded in July but we always found a spot to relax.

Waikīkī Beach is amazing. Beautiful surf, clean beach, busy but not overly so. If you’re fortunate enough to travel to Honolulu, you definitely need to go to Waikiki Beach!

This is a must do, once in a lifetime trip! Took us 40 years to get there but no regrets! Would go back tomorrow! Never been anywhere where the people were so nice!

The water and the beach experience here is easy to recommend, but get there early, or plan for a short visit as the beach gets crowded with both guests and companies that stake their claim in the beach in the early morning.
My primary recommendation would be to walk along the beach a ways, though, as you can get some very nice spots with just a 3 to 5 minute walk in either direction. Beaches in Hawaii aren't allowed to be private, so go ahead and set up just outside the hotels.

Great beach for all ages. You can take surf lessons, just go swimming and there are eateries near by. Doesn't cost a thing just take your swim suit but it can get a little crowded.

Of course it is world famous like Bondai and just as disappointing.
Ordinary at the best.
Clearly became famous due to it being the R and R centre for those brave Yankee boys.
Sand comes from Ozz and the Palm tree;s from Polly Neesia.
Gorra go but dint expect too muchy

We have been to Waikiki beach as a starting point for our trip to Hawaii and it is a good choice. You have relatively quiet waters which is good for the kids as well as lots of places to eat or have ice cream. Furthermore there are numerous places to get some surf lessons or just go for a dip. As it is oriented to the south west the sun can be very hot during the afternoon and it is quite crowded. In the early morning it is a lot more quiet.

Very pretty beach where it is possible to surf but also to swim peacefully, the sunset is magnificent, however obviously the beach is often full of people. Watch your belongings carefully because there are a lot of pick pockets on this beach.

Waikiki Beach is amazing! The soft sand and clear blue water are exactly what you’d picture for a tropical getaway. It’s super lively, with people surfing, paddleboarding, and just soaking up the sun. The view of Diamond Head is stunning, and there are so many great places to eat and shop right nearby. Sure, it can get a little crowded, but that’s part of the fun—there’s always something going on. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Hawaiian vibes!

Busy beach!! Beautiful, I can see why it's one of the most famous in the world. Lined with expensive stores and hotels. Beautiful sunsets

The view of the beach is fantastic and there are many good beachfront restaurants nearby, which are very relaxing to enjoy fresh and delicious seafood.

A bubble for tourists. Microscopic beach, people everywhere, bums along the road and the beach, children screaming, pigeons walking all over you. Disappointing. Beautiful but very shallow sea, the water reaches your waist and you can't go past the rocks because the waves are very high. There is an intense smell of garlic that comes from the restaurants along the road and reaches the beach. Very expensive restaurants, there are many but they all offer the same thing. If you don't book restaurants for dinner you don't find a place at 8.30pm it's too late to sit at the table for dinner. One of the best has a queue that is meters and meters long. Truly a disappointment. Everything costs a lot.

Iconic beach in Honolulu. Plenty of beach area available. Water is warm and clean. There are several sections of the beach - open, walled and surf, some of which have life guards. The currents are powerful so the walled area was appreciated. There are shower areas to get rid of the sand. Lots of grassy areas at the back and lounge chairs can be hired. Plenty of bars, eateries and souvenir shops nearby.

Very busy beach and that is where you can take surf lessons, so apart from swimmers, you have boards with people who can be a danger.
Very nice and beautiful place sunset

As beaches go, it's OK. It's not as wide as you would think, certainly not compared to the beaches in Southern California or the East Coast of the United States, and when I was there, the beach was very crowded. The water was also cooler than I anticipated. There's a boardwalk that extends along the beach until the resorts take over, there's a decent pier, and there's a partial breakwater that makes the water in one area as smooth as glass and very safe for young children. Further out in the ocean, there's surfers and a few sailboats. Since the area is a tourist magnet, it's expensive to rent umbrellas and chairs and the like. Overall, as long as you can afford it, the vibe is quite good. I liked the fact that there are visitors from everywhere - the continental US, Europe, and from places like Japan and Korea as well. The people watching is fantastic - walk along the Boardwalk toward Diamond Head and you'll see more locals - beautiful girls walking or jogging or heading out with young guys for the day's surfing. I'm not sure what these people do for jobs or to make money, but that's really not the point of Waikiki.
I also enjoyed watching the sun set into the Pacific; it draws a crowd, and it was a nice treat.

Went for a walk this morning before it got too hot, it is lovely to stroll along a sandy beach.
I will admit, it is rather expensive at Waikiki beach and it is definitely a tourist place, which probably accounts for the increase in price.
It is well worth a visit but it will be cheaper to eat off the main strip.

What a beautiful way to spend the day! Great chair/umbrella/board hire services along the beach, not too badly priced. We spent most of our time further down the beach where the large concrete barrier lagoon area. Perfect for small children or anyone who’s not a fan of waves. Don’t forget to take your rubbish with you, saw a number of people leaving their trash which was terrible.

Atmosphere was a great vibe, very busy and nice shopping. In fact that’s what they want you there for. Beach was good, on the dirty side and more homeless as the night came. Crowds seemed okay, staff at most businesses were pleasant. Didn’t appreciate all the pot smoking as people walked down the sidewalks. There were police there but only saw their cars, they didn’t seem to patrol crowds, stop people speeding or do any crowd control. Not a place I’d bring kids. But it is a very populated city with typical big city problems. Overall experience was good. If you like the beach scene. It’s pretty expected nothing new or just a very MUST SEE!

Most Central Europeans will probably be yearning for a change of air after three days at the latest.....
This is what a stay in Waikiki Beach could look like: chill out the jet lag on the first day, go shopping on the second day and/or visit Pearl Harbor and explore the island in a rental car on the third day.
I really liked the amazing view from the hotel high-rise of the sea, the water and the surf, as well as the friendliness of the locals. I don't need the constant hustle and bustle for more than three days and the price/performance ratio of the hotels is a joke....

Highly recommend this piece of paradise. The water is calm and clear. Although waves can be seen on the distance after the sea wall.

This is a occurring destination every Friday evening after work to see the fireworks 🎆. One thing I love about this place is that you never know who's there when you arrive. Just the chill atmosphere 😌 is always worth the drive after work with the family.

Beautiful beach in downtown Honolulu. Plenty of space, but not a lot of shade. The waves are nice and you can rent surf boards on site. Highly recommended!

A beautiful, clean beach with walled off areas in the water to keep the waves small. Coast guards were out on jet skis breaking up any large waves which is very reassuring for a nonconfident swimmer like myself.
There are plenty of taps to wash off sand from your feet which is very helpful

Incorrect staff. Online booking methods unclear, there was an error where two umbrellas were booked rather than one and the sum was not returned to us.
Dirty sea and sloping umbrellas, not recommended for couples and families

There's a great view of Diamond Head. Obviously this beach is very popular, so there's lots of people, but it's a beautiful beach.

This is the most famous beach in the whole entire world. There is the Duke Statue, and that’s all you need to know. He invented surfing and you can see people surfing here from all over the world. A must see if visiting Oahu, Hawaii.

Hawaii's iconic beach.
The sunrise from Diamond Head in the morning, the bustling cheers and waves during the day exude elation, and the sunset paints a sad picture of the end of the day.
Depending on the time of day, you can also see Hula's show.
Waikiki Beach has many ways to enjoy. I hope it will always be a beautiful beach!

Right on the beach, just outside the Hilton Waikiki Resort, we attended Church on the Beach (Waikiki Chaplaincy) on Sunday morning. Some shade was provided under canopies as the service is literally held on the beach. The leadership was thoughtful and helpful from the moment we arrived, and the message from Corinthians was inspiring. Military support is important to the chaplaincy group and even beach goers not attending the service stood and sang the National Anthem with those attending the service. That was heartwarming to see, a great experience to share. Two hula-style interpretive dances were performed in an elegant, respectful and inspiring manner. The entire service was so beautifully presented, I highly recommend anyone who has the opportunity to attend, go! You will be received with love and appreciation! Worship music was provided by Backstage Revival, a spirit-led couple with beautiful vocals and great acoustic guitars! Big thanks to all who have provided these services for 52 years on the beach!

Great for surfing and body boarding. Tide is pretty strong so swim where there's a life guard if you're not a strong swimmer. There also is a calmer closed off area on the beach you can swim. Can also rent cabanas, boards and get surfing lessons. Gets really busy, get there early to get a good spot.

The most iconic beach not only in Honolulu but in Hawaii.
Narrow and long with shallow water, white sand and a very beautiful green/blue sea!
Unfortunately, the presence of homeless people ruins it.

It was a nice beach. Was able to rent an umbrella and lounge chairs right on the beach, which definitely made the adventure more enjoyable.

This is my fifth and last trip to Honolulu Waikiki Beach. The homeless are camped everywhere. I was in the sand with my family yesterday and saw a huge pile of human waste next to one of their tents. I’ve been coming here the last five Christmases, but not come back honestly it is pretty scary.

Great spot to meet people, learn to surf, have a sip for sunset, people watch! Famous beach but please explore other more beautiful spots along the other coasts!

Never get tired of visiting this iconic beach, my wife has been here 7 times, me only 4 but the aloha feeling in us remains when we leave each time as there is no place in the world like this place and we've been to Jamaica, new Zealand , Australia, Mexico santo Domingo , etc, but love it here the most.

Worst place you could choose for vacation
Homeless literally everywhere and they’re loud and on meth. Horrible traffic and no parking. Plan to spend an hour in bumper to bumper jus to get to the parking lot. And then another half hour waiting for a space
Terrible beaches. Loud, intoxicated tourists. Just an awful place. Poor water quality from excessive use of sunscreen and boats

The mythical beach of Waikiki has its charms and can be discovered both day and night. From Hilton Beach, where fireworks are launched every Friday night, to the end of the bay with another sight to see, the Diamond Head State Monument.

The beach is a very interesting place to be visited by family and relatives, and it can also be a place to calm the mind.

This is one of my favorite beaches, its color is beautiful, clear water and thousands of tiny fishes touching your feet.
It has two sides: the one with breaking waves, perfect for kids, you can walk inside the calm water and it keeps below your waist and the open side which has more waves.
They have board renters, small boats and also surf lessons. The best place to see sunsets.

It is a busy place, but there are a lot of conveniences, including cheap and convenient rentals and lots of help if you're new to surfing. A great place to start the beach/surf/nightlift part of your trip.

Extremely Busy beach setting with beach volleyball and swimming with many new friends. Reminded me of busy Miami beaches so if you reside in a big city, you will like this environment, otherwise, go to quieter Maui or Kaui.

Crowded and busy but ok place for swimming, paddle board. protected, so no waves close. Could be cleaner. the sand is coarse and there are a lot of rocks. Towered over by tall resorts.

Waikiki Beach offered a lively and iconic Hawaiian experience. The soft sand and gentle waves were perfect for our beginner surfers, and the beachfront amenities made it convenient for everyone. While the crowds were a bit overwhelming at times, the vibrant energy and accessibility made it a highlight of our trip.

I had visited Hawai’i 6 times before deciding that my 7th trip would be to stay on Waikiki and I loved it. Yes, Waikiki is crowded and a bit loud since it is basically part of the city scene. However, the beach is stunningly beautiful. Swimming and seeing Diamond Head in the background is a memory I will always have. Another neat aspect of Waikiki is how far one can walk out at low tide - it must be at least 1,000 ft from shore before the water is above an adult’s head. Plus, even though the beach is crowded, everybody was mostly cordial and polite.

Waikiki Beach is beautiful, but I found it a bit too crowded. Had to wait a long time to get a spot, and the area was always quite noisy due to the resort. No complaints about the water–clean and comfortable, but if you're looking for a quieter spot, you might want to try another beach. Overall a good experience

Stay on the strip. Rent chairs for the day from the beach guys. Everyone is helpful. Get out early and get your umbrella and walk back and forth. If to crowded move down the strip.

Please correct your location. I live in Ilwaco, Washington. Cape Disappointment has a beautiful lighthouse and beach which is also called Wakikki.

Very very busy beach but there’s room for everyone. Lots of surfers are farther out. Best for more advanced surfers. Definitely a must see in Honolulu!
As beautiful as advertised
We stayed on the beach and were not disappointed. Big crowds, but the beach is big enough to accommodate them without it being overwhelming. The sunset was amazing.
