The loop was closed at 9:35am. for hiking and biking. So very disappointing that we didn't get to see the awesome views we had heard about. Looks like looks of forested camping

Drive the loop. Just wish we had more time to hike a little while we were there. Some great spots to stroll.

We planned to just take a drive around the loop, but the views are so gorgeous that we had to pull over. The are quite a few places to park along the loop. We ended up seeing about 6 Dolphins splashing around in the water. I didn't even realize that Dolphins were in this area. So amazing! We hiked down a bit on some trails. The park is just gorgeous. I'm so glad we went!

Fun place to camp or just walk. Several miles of one way road that is paved and fund to ride a bike through. Lots of woods. Nice places to stop and picnic overlooking Puget Sound

This park is beautiful. It has a pay-to-use boat launch which is in great condition and has spacious parking. Lots of walking options here too. Many people walking with kids and/or dogs, so this is a great family spot. There is a narrow drive able loop that circles around the point. The beach and park were clean and in good condition. Definitely coming back!

Nice beach to walk, picnic benches and bbq available, pet friendly, boat launch, plenty of parking, restrooms.

This is truly a hidden gem just beyond the Anarcortes ferry terminal! The park has a paved path (actually it is a one-lane road, but they don't let cars come in until 10:00, and even at that there is not much vehicle traffic), a complete loop is about 2 miles. At times you feel you are in deep prehistoric woods, then at one point it opens onto a beautiful vista of the Rosario Strait and the San Juan islands. There is also a monument to the man who originally owned and logged this land way back in the early 1900's. What a blessing that his family left this land to a public use. There are restrooms, campground and a boat launch to boot. Haven't used either of the latter, but the restrooms are great.

Lots of places to hike/walk/drive. Gorgeous views, climb on rocks by tide pools at low tide. Not crowded. Loved it

We weren’t planning on visiting Washington Park, but found extra time in our schedule. Glad we visited. Cool drive through the park, but the road doubles as a pedestrian path which is necessitated by the geography. Be alert. Hiking paths are much more impressive, challenging than I expected. I’d recommend them if you have the time.

A short drive or longer walk in Washington Park will give you some amazing vistas. The trees and plants and water views are spectacular. So glad we took the time to visit...actually did the loop twice. Met a local man who was very friendly and gave us some great suggestions for visiting Anacortes and Fidalgo Island. If I lived here I would walk here everyday. Fresh air and beauty all for anyone so lucky to take the time.

This is a day use park right on the water with a playground and a boat ramp. It also has a camping area with beautiful sites in the trees. And, there is a gorgeous drive around the perimeter with views of the ocean inlets.

We walked here from our hotel. The boat dock was very busy but we started walking along the loop drive. A little way along there were some trails down to the water. WE took one and found a rocky beach with lots of driftwood and downed trees. They were the perfect backdrop for pictures. My husband came down and picked us up in the car and we continued around the loop drive.
There were many areas along the way to pull off in the car with many photo ops. There was even a bridal party showing up for a photo shoot. There is a campground located in the park too. It is worth the time to drive to all the way around and experience the very different views on each side of the park.

This park has something for everyone. There is a loop trail which is spectacular to walk but one should be in moderate shape as there are inclined and it is nearly 3 miles long. Dogs allowed on leash. There are many places to picnic and rest and a couple that will lead you to the beach. If you need to drive or want to picnic there are parking spots along the way. The loop is a paved road. Hikers path also exist that crisscross the park. Stunning views always.
There is a boat launch area as well as children’s playground and beach.
Great park!

This is a beautiful big park along the water's edge, owned and maintained by the city of Anacortes. There is no admission, just drive in and do a loop or park in one of the many spaces throughout the park and enjoy the quiet forest or sit at a picnic table to have a snack and watch the boats busily moving about in the water.

I consider this to be one of the most beautiful parks on the West Coast. It is a place I take everyone who comes to visit me.

A nice area to view the north end of Fidalgo Island. Not at all crowded on a Friday morning early. Great viewing area for taking pictures.

If you only visit one place in Anacortes, this is the one. There is a road that is a 2.1 mile loop around the park. Take that first, then come back around and park in the various places and walk to the beach. There is also a beautiful viewpoint about 1.5 miles into the loop.

Drove to Anacortes for the day to look at the marina and sailboats. A local suggested driving out to the park.
Beautiful sunny day so we watched the boats and then drove through the park. Loved all the trees, view of the water and a few wildlife including deer.
Well worth the time!

What a perfectly kept secret. Unless you happen upon Washington Park, you don't know what you're missing on your way to the Ferry. It's a lovely drive, perfect picnic spots, great camping & wonderful hiking trails all wrapped into one.

There is a loop drive you should not miss. The forest is serenity, cliff view of the ocean was so scenic. We were lucky to see a bald eagle catching it's prey. Plenty of hike or walk around. A playground, picnic are by the beach, boat docking and great place for fishing. Don't miss this place if you are at Anacortes. It is just by the ferry terminal area.

This park is large with lots of hiking trails, road access for hiking, biking and automobiles. Lot of parking areas with access to the beach

One feels like they are actually in Alaska and not in Washington State. The park is actually as wilderness areas are.🤗

This is a hidden treasure at the end of the road through Anacortes. I love stopping along the way to go sit at a picnic place to view the water.
Then there is the stop on top with a wind whipped outlook. The old trees look down on a thoroughfare that boats go through. Have seen seals and whales go through also.

We enjoyed a picnic dinner at the park watching the sunset on a warm, clear evening. So much fun! Beautiful park with great views.

I live a quarter mile away from Washington Park and walk my dog there almost every day. There is a beautiful 2 1/4 mile paved loop around the park that takes you through evergreen forest past beautiful views of the San Juan Islands. This path is open to cars after 10:00 AM. Wildlife such as seals, otters, great blue herons, bald eagles and harbor porpoises are often seen. There are other, unpaved trails throughout the park. Amenities include, picnic areas with fire pits on the beach, a wonderful campground, boat launch and kids playground.

The lady at the front desk of our hotel the Marina Inn, Anacortes told us to head there to see the great sunsets. We weren't disappointed, the drive around the park was interesting, saw many deer and great views.

The Scenic Loop Road is closed to cars in the early morning so you can enjoy a great hike with spectacular views, see wildlife and do a little tide pooling!

Amazing location to spend a couple of hours with friends/family/pets and watch the sun set. The park is well maintained, has free parking, easily accessible from Anacortes town.

Absolutely beautiful drive around the loop Plenty of places to stop and take photos, and a nice loop to walk.

This park has a nice forested drive with great water views. It's a very narrow road with a few tight turns, so trailers and large vehicles are prohibited. A lot of people seem to use it as a walking trail. For all these reasons, you need to drive VERY slowly. We didn't have time to see the rest of the park, but liked the drive.

We stayed at the campground for five nights and had a nice time escaping from the city heat.
The bathrooms were kept tidy often enough but this campground does not have hosts, there are city workers that come by and check on things, they also deliver wood if you order it.
We had a quiet campsite until Friday evening, when the camp neighbors behind us decided to play their music until 1 AM. The following night was much more quiet.
There are lots of trees for shade. There is a wonderful loop you can walk, enjoying the views of the Sound. It is not open to vehicle traffic until 10 AM.
We loved staying here, enjoyed the nature and it is not far from a grocery store.
highly recommend this campground for families.
There is a beach area within walking distance as well with a boat launch.

This is a great day trip if you live in The Puget Sound area. There is a beach with a boat launch, picnic areas, hiking trails, and even a campground. The drive around the park is one-way and is also great for walking and bicyclists. There are spectacular views of the Sound, the ferry docks, the Olympics and even the Cascades. There are hiking trails for every level. Dogs are welcome and must remain on a leash. Please be responsible with your dogs and clean up.

This is a great walk for those in shape. Nice drive as well. Te view from the top is beautiful. Te road is not really made for those pulling large trailers or a long motor home. There are a couple very tight turns. There are picnic tables on a first come first get order. In the summer it is fun to spend the afternoon and watch the sunsets. we go e a week during summer

Wonderful hiking trails and very scenic. I especially enjoyed the hIke's off the loop road near the channel that leads out to the Straight. The lower trail will get your adrenaline going when your on the edge of the cliffs.

This is everyone's favorite loop walk. Changes of scene - lots of forest with reward views here and there. Some changes of elevation - but not too much.

$9 a day is alright for a boat lunch fee, but the 200$ yearly boat launch pass is a major rip, especially considering you already have to pay for a natural investment pass for the other boat launches in the state ($80). Good grief people.
Boat launch is UNUSABLE on low tide and only has 1 dock (2sides), the parking(grass not pavement) is horrendously bad for larger trailers. Only boat launch around though, were stuck with a monopoly.

Washington Park is a city owned park of Anacortes, WA. They have a really nice boat ramp. There is a $9.00 parking fee (pay station on site) unless you are camping in the park. You can boat to the San Juan Islands from this park.

I was with my grandchildren at Washington Park for their Christmas luminary event one weekend every December. It is really a special place and several campsites are lit and very accessible to everyone. If you go, dress warmly, and check the Parks and Recreation schedule. They don't tend to advertise it too much. Lots of singing, s'mores and a nice Santa visit too. It starts about 5:00. Go early!!

The Washington Park is absolutely beautiful. The park has a campground, picnix area, beach, dock and a scenic drive. The beach and water views were amazing. We stayed in the campground for 3 nights. The campsites are large and most give a sense of privacy. The roads into the campground and the loop road are very narrow. We have a large rv and did experience some branches scraping the trailer when entering the park. The restrooms were disgusting. They smelled of urine and mildew. The floors muddy and showers dirty. Easily overlooked as the park is so scenic and beautiful.

Like Central Park, if our grandfathers hadn't had the vision and for sight to preserve land for parks and families to go outside and enjoy, we wouldn't know what trees and forest lands would look like in the middle of urban sprawls. Washington park is just that. A beautiful waterfront park used for hiking, camping, boat launching and family gathering. They have a 2 mile paved road that is heavily used for walkers and sight seers. Drive past down town Anacortes and the Ferries to see this amazing place.

I went for a walk with my friend yesterday. She is familiar with this park and said I would enjoy it. That was true! All areas of the park were beautiful. Of course, the north side lawn area was brown, being the middle of August, but that was ok with me. The southwest side by the beach was very relaxing. My favorite part was the view from the south side, seeing Burrows Island and the south side of Anacortes. Can't wait to go back. Also, plenty of places to park.

One of my old colleagues who settled in Anacortes has relentlessly bragged about the scenery and good atmosphere so finally this past weekend I took two guests down for a stroll around. Washington Park was our after-lunch destination and we did the 2.2 mile walk around the peninsula. The views towards the 172 San Juan Islands were breath-taking (this narrow road by the way also allows cars -- too bad, but anyway, look out for them -- ) and there are assorted pull-outs and even some picnic tables along the way. Curling around the south side of the peninsula, there are also good views towards Deception Pass. If you are in the area, be sure to take this walk. It isn't too arduous. Dogs were happy on this walk, children were jumping, and only one car honked (but you know, there are always one or two sourpusses -- ).
Enjoy!

Washington Park is a lovely little park on the northwestern tip of Fidalgo Island in the town of Anacortes. There is a 2.2 mile paved loop driving road that takes you through both wooded areas and by beach cliffs with stunning views. There are limited pulloffs for parking in numerous spots along the loop. Each pulloff offers something different - one has a grassy area with benches, another has steps down to a rocky beach that's wonderful for exploring tide pools during low tide, and yet another takes you to an overlook with beautiful sandstone, benches, trails, etc. We enjoyed looking for wildlife and birds while driving through the wooded areas. You could spend 10 minutes driving through or hours exploring everything in this park.
*Please note - go slow on the loop, especially around curves. Many people/dogs hike the loop. There are no sidewalks so they are walking directly on the road.
Also, at the very beginning of the park is sunset beach. There is a wonderful playground that is for kids both young and old (I think the sign said to age 12 - it's not just a toddler playground) as well as some awesome rocks/tide pools to explore. Picnic tables as well. And yes, the sunsets are amazing!

Biking, walking, whatever, Washington Park gives you lot's of options for an easy 2 mile hardtop loop or you can wander off on the many paths and push yourself as hard as you like. Hard to get lost. Short little walks off the trail get you a series of fabulous expansive views.

Large park with several sections that are very differant. It feels like three differant parks. All stunningly beautiful. The views are breath taking.

Beautiful park but walking the loop on a weekend when lots of cars are driving it is scary. Having cars and walkers share the same path is not great. Views are awesome. The walk is great when there aren't too many cars.

Enjoyed walking around the park on a sunny day. Nice benches to sit and look out over the water. Could use improved restrooms, at least cleaner porta-potties!

We enjoyed this picture perfect place. The nature is so pretty and relaxing. Good to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Good for family and kids too. We took the Shuttle ride to this island. Great experience also the ferry shuttle. Beautiful scenery along the way. Kids loved it.

We camp here in the RV when visiting local family at Christmas. December is a wonderful time to visit, often have the park almost to ourselves. Lots of hiking trails and walking/driving the Loop at least once is a must. The views are stunning. During the holiday season people hang ornaments on the trees along the loop, very festive!

I went in March on a beautiful. There is a one mile or so road that goes along the coast and although their are pullouts for cars that space would be at a premium in the summer months. Best to walk if you can so that others who cannot do the walk will have places to stop to take in the great views. There are stairs that allow beach access.

Nice picnic area. It was a great place to park and then walk the one way road that goes through the park. That allowed you to get some good exercise and make multiple side trips along the way to enjoy the views of the forest and the sound. Great place to see some eagles. We also were able to watch some porpoises and sea lions at several locations along the way. If you drive, there is limited parking locations along the road. Do not forget to read some of the information signs along the road to learn some of the history of the area.

Love this park and what it offers. There is a play ground, beach, day use pavilions, restrooms, boat launch, tow vehicle with boat trailer parking, campground and a loop that offers lots of options for hiking, biking and walking. The restrooms aren't top of the line facilities but they are good enough for me and keeps me coming back. We come out as much as we can to walk around the loop or access the beaches that are available in the loop. We're hoping to get out there more for camping.

Washington Park is just a fabulous place to visit. There are so many things to do and see.
Yesterday we went just to look over the Guemes Channel, and enjoy a sunny spring afternoon.
I really think that you would enjoy Washington Park also

This city owned park in Anacortes is truly a gem. It is great for pedestrian and bikers, but they also allow cars if necessary. Perfect place for a 2.5 mile hike.

Make a point to drive out to this beautiful park with amazing views over the San Juan Islands. Take a picnic, drive the park loop, park along the water and enjoy!

We make sure we have time to visit this park when we are in town. The park is designed to where if we only have a little bit of time we can drive on the beautiful road that has wonderful views. If we have more time we can pull off in one of the many parking places and enjoy the views, take pictures, relax and visit with friendly people. The variety of trees is lovely and the views stunning.

Amazing view, peaceful, nice places to walk or sit around. Very close to ferry. Make sure not to miss it.

This is an awesome park. As with all places on Anacortes apart from the dog park, please have your dogs leashed at all tImes and pick up after them. Unleashed dogs are a safety issue. Training and voice command are never 100%. Follow park and local laws please.

You can drive, bike or walk the loop road, but there are also numerous trails, some of which can be a little challenging, but the views are magnificent!

By walking you'll really reap the benefits of the beauty of the terrain. It's just a litte more than 2 miles and some hill, but not too bad.

Acres and acres on a sweet western point of Fidalgo Island, any visitor shouldn't miss at least a walk or drive around The 2 3/8 mile loop road. Incredible views and sometimes orca sightings. Gifted to the city of anacortes by the Havekost family and is a city park with camping both tent or vehicle, and numerous trails and vantage points, huge trees, it's a gem of a place with incredible views on 3 sides surrounded by the sea.

Wow! This is a gem. The beach is very nice and wonderful view. Theres a nice camp ground and a scenic drive that has marvelous views!

This place was one of our favorite places to camp. And we have camped in a lot of places in Washington, near & far. So much to do within the park; camping spots not cramped and over-crowded. And lots to do around the Anacortes area as well. We did a kayaking tour that was amazing!
This place should have been a 5 Star but their reservation system was well below par. Open spots past 14 days out can't be reserved; then first-come, first-serve, and they truly don't know if and what spaces are available. By the time we arrived, they said there were no more of the 13 spots that were open a few hours earlier. We took our chances and rode through and found more than 5 spots available. They basically walk through and write on a paper at each site if it is reserved or not...who does that anymore!! And this is a pretty big park! They are missing so many opportunities of reservations doing it the "old school" way. Not very hard to put it in a online system that would be WAY more accurate and User/Camper friendly. It caused us to stress out way more than necessary when we were camping to leave our stresses behind!
Don't get me wrong, we really loved this place and will definitely be back. However, with all the above being said, we will definitely rent 14 days in advance the next time! If you are planning a last minute camping trip, I say take your chances no matter what they say and ride through... bet you will find a spot!

This was a great spot. The sunsets are gorgeous and the camping spots large and cozy. Reasonable rates for camp spots $10/night and $5/firewood bundle. You can Park your car and watch the sunset or hike the coast trail. Can be stunning.

A beautiful oasis just ten minutes from downtown Anacortes. Pack a lunch and enjoy the beautiful views from one of the picnic areas along the "loop" road.

We were recommended this Park by our Airbnb host and we were really pleased we visited. Nice size park that is very walkable. Beach access is very pleasant and the views really quite breathtaking. We met lots of other dog walkers who were all friendly and talkative. Children’s playground is a good set up for both young and older kids (and even us adults). Free parking and lots of individual wood trails as well as the main loop road. Really glad we visited.

This walking trail was recommended to us by a friend. It's a multi use trail for bikes/walking/vehicles but was refreshing and beautiful. About halfway through the walk you come to an overlook of a marina and the sound. Short at about 2 miles but very enjoyable with some good hills and rainforest like character. Beautiful!

This was one of our favorite parts of visiting Anacortes and the San Juan Islands. Actually liked it better than the islands. Hiking was great and the views wonderful. I would recommend parking before you enter the loop and hike on some of the interior trails to the top.

Whether you hike the loop road or drive it, you will enjoy the many different places to explore...ocean walks or mountain top vistas! A bePlace to spend a few hours or a whole day!

This place is a great stop in the Anacortes area. You can either walk the trail (recommended) or drive it if you are not able to walk it. Great views from all over an it is so lush on the interior. My suggestion is to go on a nice summer day around sunset and enjoy the vibrant colors that happen on a regular basis.

I think this may be the last of the beach parks in Anacortes that doesn't require you to pay to park in it. It's good, the loop road is always awesome for a hike :)

Washington Park in Anacortes was the first place my wife and I visited on our 10 day vacation to Washington State. This city park is located on a small peninsula on the west side of the city. We parked off the side of the 2 mile loop road that circles the park. We met a good number of folks who were walking, jogging or riding bikes on the road. Cars can also drive along this one way road (after 10am), but must maintain a 10 mph speed limit. We saw excellent views of the waterways and islands of Puget Sound in this area. We even saw a number of deer during our one hour walk along this road around the park. Perfect place to experience the natural beauty of this part of Washington State.

This is a great little park to watch the sunset or watch the ferries come and go. We were there in October - too cold to swim, so I can't vouch for the beach.

220 acre Washington Park, Anacortes WA, is on the NW end of Fidalgo Island, near the Washington State Ferry Terminal for service to the San Juan Islands, with numerous Awesome/Beautiful views of the area.
Camping in a forested area & Boat Launching Facilities are available. Very Nice! Picnic Tables & Benches are available in the Park. Narrow one-way road follows the waterfront shoreline (from a higher elevation, not at the water's edge), with turn-outs available, not too bad in the "off-season", but could get a bit crowded in Summer & Weekends.

Walking around Washington Park was the best thing we did on Fidalgo Island while staying in Anacortes. It's quite large and sits on the tip of the island. You can walk around the tip on a paved forested walkway. As you walk around you get beautiful views of the water from all sides. There are several places to sit and enjoy the views. Not sure of the length of the walk but it's probably about two miles. Although it is narrow one way road, you can also drive around the tip.

We hiked the trail around Washington Park using a trial map I'd gotten at the Chamber of Commerce Visitor's Center. The trails are marked by color, so I'd be sure to get a map with the colors noted. We got lost a little as there are some unplanned trails along the way, but it wasn't hard to find our way back. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to walk around the park, which is a peninsula. We had lightweight shoes. It would have been better to have had sneaker with a firmer sole. Nonetheless, our shoes were okay and we didn't twist any ankles. The trail takes you over roots and some rocks but is pretty easy overall, and without much in the way of elevation. Just a lot of great views, including of Rosario Straits and the San Juan Islands, plus other islands. A lovely walk.
After we walked it, we decided to drive the loop road, which is one way counter-clockwise. It was also beautiful and different. There are lookout points at good spots. I'm glad we did both. If you only had the time to drive the road, it would be worth it. If you have time to walk it, it's an added bonus.

If you are in Anacortes, make this a priority. Either drive around the loop or better yet walk if time allows. Gorgeous view points!

Washington Park offers a great outdoor adventure so close to the urban town center, and ferry dock in the city of Anacortes. It has a walking trail around the park that is exclusively reserved for pedestrians before 10:00 am, after that you can drive the roadway to see the sites. But it allows for a very peaceful walking experience before the cars and crowds arrive. Most lovely views of the shoreline, and beach access. Dogs need to be on a leash, but they still have a great time. Wonderful place to visit before getting on the ferry to the San Juan’s.

Great park. Love coming here with kids. Beach with boat landing, place for playing on the lawn and a wonderful loop road that can be driven or walked out around the edge of the park.
Truly a beautiful piece of the world.

The view was beautiful. Well kept and clean with picnic tables. A Harbour Seal lives there and u can see him when a boat docks. He follows them in for food. We had a lot of fun here.

This is a lovely place to walk or drive and experienced some wonderful view points. We drove around the loop around sunset, and it was nice to get out and take some pictures at various lookouts. This is the most beautiful thing to do while visiting Anacortes. It’s free to enter if you are walking or driving.

Was on town for business and decided on some sightseeing in the park after work. In addition to breathtaking views and amazing sunsets, this is an awesome park. You feel like you are deep in the woods but so close to town. Looks it like would be an amazing place to camp and fish. The beauty is stunning. If you are in Anacortes, you owe it to yourself to drive the loop thru the park. Best of all, admission is free.

Larabee State Park has always been my favorite park in Western Washington so I never thought anything could beat it. However, today I went to Washington Park and lets just say it is now a stiff competition between the 2. Washington Park is a true hidden gem, beautiful, and a lack of crowds (at least when we went) whereas Larabee State Park always draws in the crowds. I'll be back and maybe camp there sometime too. Today my husband and I walked the whole loop, made a pit stop at a very romantic little beach, and ooed and awed at the views of San Juan islands. Love it here!

Visited on a sunny day. The park is great for hiking, biking and just driving through. The views are spectacular. The water and the islands views make you feel so peaceful. Must see to believe.

My wife and I walk this park every morning. We mostly stay on the trails but walking the road is also good.
The views are spectacular, it's a 5 minute drive from our house and we ask ourselves where else could we live that has a walk like this?
It's one of those things that makes you glad to be alive, it's that good!

Husband and I came here while we were killing time waiting for the ferry. This is a great place to wonder around and watch people putting in their boat or taking it out.

the hiking trails along the coast are awesome. stay near the water and you'll be treated with spectacular panoramic views. some of the trails may be a bit challenging and or dangerous if you stray, but be smart, stay safe and you'll be amazed!

Loved this place its only a few miles away from Anacortes and the views are amazing. You can drive your care along the couple mile loop trail and pull of and park in in the trail road.Once out of the car your only a few steps away to a picnic table and huge open views of the water. You can then walk along the edge of the island and it feels like your are the friday harbors views. No discovery pass needed here by the way and its,all free : )

So peaceful on the water, great place for a picnic! And be sure to take the single-lane loop road around the park. We carefully drove it, but it would be outstanding for a gorgeous hike though the woods too

Just a beautiful site of huge tress, rustic camp sites, king trials and magnificent views of the San jeans Islands and Olympic area. All close by to Anacortes, yet giving a feeling of lovely isolation

On our visit to Anacortes we always make sure we put aside time for a hike at Washington State park. We start by parking at the playground area and going to the rock beach and tide pools there. After the kids are tired of looking for shells or animals. Then we start the walk around the Park. We usually stop along the way to access some of the others rock beaches along the way. It is fun walking thru the trees/ forest and then playing on the beaches. The views are great looking out over the bay and off to the other surrounding Islands. The Hike can be long or short depending if you go on the whole loop. You can also drive on the outside loop, but the interior trails are only for hiking/ walking. A much do on any visit to Anacortes.

A park with a beach -- how can you go wrong? Lots of grassy area with barbecue pits for picnics or games, sloping down to a beach (gravel, but still nice). Great place to relax with a book while looking out over the sound and watching the ferries sail by. This place can accomodate a lot of people without feeling crowded.

Spent a few lovely evenings here last month when the sun finally dared put in an appearance. We only live an hour away, but suffering some cabin fever decided to see if we could sense of vacay just by grabbing some camping gear and changing the scenery.
It worked. Lovely park, obviously well-maintained though some spaces could be a bit more level for people with RV's and trailers, easy to find and get around in. Some spaces have amazing water views. Each space comes with a picnic table and fire pit.
Located just a few miles south of downtown Anacortes. And for those who don't feel like roughing it for dinner, the restaurants of Anacortes marina are nearby.

This park is great! Tall trees make certain it's pretty cool most of the time. Deer meander through, and the loop road is great for biking, hiking or driving to watch the sunset. Bathrooms are okay Be sure to wear flop flip flops in the shower.

The loop was closed due to high winds but God blessed us with a beautiful day so we got out and walked. The little trails off the main road are a must. Just absolutely gorgeous, not just the views but the landscape itself. I could have spent my whole weekend there.

Children's playground, restrooms, shade trees and lawn, a water spray/play feature for kids, basketball court, softball, lots of picnic tables, lots of parking. All in all a very pleasant park.

Bring a jacket as the sunshine is deceiving to the actual feel of the temp. The park was nice and fun for the kids to play on.

Georgeous! Lots of hiking, easy to moderate! Worth the trip! West past Anacortes, we just drove the loop. If you do so, watch out for the many hikers.

Fabulous and beautiful walk around Washington Park! It was approx a 2 mile walk WITH HILLS. Make sure you are wearing good walking shoes...unlike me who wore sandals (I didn't know what I was in for.) I thought it was going to be a flat walk around the water. NOPE! The scenery was gorgeous though and totally worth my very sore calf muscles 3 days later.

We visit this park every time we come to Anacortes. It's got a lot of different places to walk, stop and eat with picnic tables and gorgeous views no matter where you stop. We also got to see a group of porpoises swimming around as well as a few seals showing us their heads.

This is a great park!
It was a nice surprise to discover it. It has great viewpoints and the loop road is the right size, just enough for you to fuel with energy, in a lovely afternoon.
Highly recommended!

Great place to watch birds, especially alcids like the Rhinoceros Auklet. They were a real treat for this North Carolinian.

We stayed in the campground for 6 nights and it was great. We were on the A loop which seems much more quite than the other ones. Our site was large, easy in and out with the trailer and not too close to neighbors. The campground staff drive through many time throughout the day, always emptying trash and keeping the place up. We felt like we were in an enchanted forest. The campground is almost completely shaded by the super tall trees, this is not a place for sunbathing (unless you go to the beach). It was probably 10 degrees cooler in the campground than outside of it. Very nice trails to walk on and the scenic loop road is great too. Beautiful sunsets from Green Point, we even watched harbor porpoise swimming around off shore.
The dump station was easily accessible on our way out, which is always a good thing. I can not say enough good things about this campground.

Great park with trails & gorgeous views & nice picnic areas worth a visit ! The trails are easy to walk on & went down to a little beach also that was very nice . Some of the lookouts are pretty high & steep so be careful if you have little ones with .

Great drive or walknice views but pick a sunny day. Even at the top vistas we couldnt see the water today. Love the trees.

Most people on their way to or from the San Juan Islands rush by this park. Don't miss it!
There is a great loop for walking - or driving. It is just uphill from the ferry landing.
Great views - especially of the sunset.

It's well worth spending the time to hike the path along the shore. The views are terrific, and you don't get to see much of them if you just do the loop drive.

Took the kids to the park. They are 3, 5, and 7. Nice little park for them and a grassy area to sit in. Lots of parking, a boat launch, winding trails. Not a sand beach as this isn't the area for that but there are lots of icky beaches to wander down when the tide is low!! The boys found tons of crabs, eels, a couple sea anemones. There were quite a few people but it didn't feel crowded. I haven't camped here but did see that the camping spots seem quite close together and the bathrooms aren't 'nice'. I've seen worse. The showers are pay to use at $1 for about 5 minutes (quarters).
Lots of blacktail deer around but generally don't come near the crowds. You might see them in the early morning or evening if you're quiet. This is an island and they don't have a lot of pressure so some are used to the busyness of the park.
So, like I said in the title, this park, as with most, is what you make of it. The kids had a blast and that is what it's about!!!

The portion of Washington Park that we used is the winding one-way loop road. We passed numerous couples and families walking on or just off the road. The forest, especially along the outer edge, is full of stunning madronas. Also abundant in the park is a type of juniper that, in 2007, was determined by DNA analysis to be a new species and given a new name. Ocean views are everywhere along the loop road. About 3/4 of the way around is a parking area high above the water with trails winding every which way around gnarly old junipers. The trails go down to the water. In this location, the shore is somewhat rocky with tide pools. We had a thoroughly enjoyable and enriching outdoor experience.

This park is absolutely beautiful! There is a loop drive through it or lots of hiking trails. Nice views of the water and lush forest. We saw deer in the parking lot and many picnics being enjoyed.

This is very beautiful! There is a narrow road that goes through it. We made it with our doolie truck. Beautiful views at each turn. Saw harbor porpoises playing in the water. The drive is really a perfect length for a nice walk. Several overlooks and benches. Loved it!

This is an excellent place to park and walk or run the loop! Or is a paved road, and cars are on it as well, but a great place to get out and stretch your legs. I wouldn’t suggest bikes for small kids, because the hill up is long and a bit steep at times. When you reach the top, the view is AMAZING! You can see the Skyline marina and also the San Juan’s! It’s breathtaking! There’s a really cool tree that makes for an excellent backdrop for photos! This park has a boat launch, a playground, and two covered areas for picnics etc. there are also restrooms here. There is a ton of day parking and parking for vehicle’s with trailers too! Excellent for a day trip! And LOTS of deer!

The 2 mile drive was fantastic-and its free as owned by the city
Great forest and water views
There are several places to park and picnic or just enjoy the views

While touring the area, this park was recommended as good place to visit and tour around. It was easy to find and get around in. The park also houses a campground, some sites being serviced with power and water. There is a Sani-dump in the park. We watched the boats get launched and kids play in the day use area. We drove the loop, but beware that the loop is not open to vehicles until 10 AM. Pedestrians are common on the loop, so drive slowly and enjoy the many spectacular vistas that present themselves.

Washington Park is a great park to visit. It has a large boat launch and very nice campground there are many trails in the deep forest and along a few miles of waterfront.

Delightful ride. Couple of pull out spots. Great little spots to walk to. No charge. Great way to initially take in your first Pacific Northwest experience. Would definitely recommend. Visitor's Center can provide directions. Took us less than an hour and we like to meander and take pictures.

Wonderful drive through the park. Have to drive very slow as it's narrow and there's people walking along the road. Very nice pull outs for vehicles. Gorgeous views of the water all along.

A short drive past the ferry takes you out into the fresh air and beautiful trees. A short drive into the first part of the park takes you to the boat launch and picnic area, just a little way from a wonderful spacious treed campground. After that you can drive down a small one way road that slowly meanders around the whole rim of the park. Tiny pullouts lead to small picnic areas and wonderful beaches and views. You share the road with walkers and joggers and slow moving kids. Take your time and enjoy the trees and amazing views North, West and South around the whole park. Stunted wind blown trees to a stunning rain forest. Enjoy your day here!

I drove the 1.5 mi loop and stopped a few times to wander through the trails. Great views and woodsy areas. It has beach access, playgrounds and picnic shelters but I only saw porter johns for restroom facilities.

I love the loop walk in this park, it takes a little over an hour. even though a lot of the way you are sharing the road with cars, it's still just a single lane one way and not too many cars going by.
the views are lovely.
I like going here when I get to the ferry landing early and I have some time to kill and I need some exercise after being in the car all day.
There is a picnic area on a little beach for day use, and lots of picnic tables.
you can pull off the loop road and sit out and have your own little Promontary.

This is a good park to visit for great views of the San Juans and Anacortes. Either hike or drive the 'loop' road stopping at the various view areas.

You can walk, run, bike or ride around the loop road. It is full of hills but you have a spectacular view from the top.

We visited Washington Park twice, and drove to several view points. The hike round the park is about 2.5 miles. There us a little beach, and it's fun to watch the ferries coming and going. The viewpoints are beautiful and my husband saw a dolphin from one of the lookouts. Do visit this park, bring a drink and a picnic, it makes a lovely outing.

Absolutely beautiful! Stunning views the play area is clean and well maintained. The beach is good. I can’t wait to camp there.

Picked up a flyer showing key spots to stop on the scenic drive through the park. Nonetheless it was still a beautiful spot and neat experience to meander through the forest on our little drive.
Would definitely go again and spend more time trying to see all the sights

Washington Park is a very nice park with great views. Would be a nice place for a picnic. I think there is camping there too. There is a 2.5 mile walk you can do on a paved road, you can also drive the loop. One very nice pull out point, many gorgeous views along the way.

This place is gorgeous! I’m almost tempted not to review it because I don’t want the secret to get out. It’s about 10 mins from town and 3 mins from the ferry dock. The loop road is closed to car traffic in the early morning, which is nice for walkers and runners. The trail system is well marked and quite easy to navigate.
There is a boat launch and “park” with a large grassy area and a few picnic tables right near the entrance.
We camp here 8-10 times every summer. It’s heavily wooded, serene and usually pretty quiet. Dean, one of the rangers (If that’s what they’re called) is super friendly and helpful. Actually, entire staff is wonderful.
We camp in an RV, but I will occasionally use the showers to keep our tank from getting full. They never run out of hot water and are cleaner than most campgrounds. Not pristine, but decent. (I’m SUPER picky)

Water, island views, fresh air and the verdant forest steps away combine for a restful spot to enjoy nature.
We parked in one of the single-car pullouts along the park's scenic loop and spent some time relaxing on a park bench watching tne ferry go by. (It's a very short walk from the pullout to the water so it's easy access for most people. ☺)

This is an exceptional park in Anacortes. Go past the ferry dock and Skyline Marina. It's at the end of the road. Walk or drive the loop road. Plenty of places to pull off and relax on the beach. Or the bluff with its amazing views. Haven't camped there but bet it is pretty popular during June-September.

My husband and I have picnicked and launched our kayaks from this park. Nice setting.
Kid friendly and a gazebo which we have seen being used for family parties.

Great place to take a moment and relax. Good playground for the kids, more than adequate parking, and terrific scenery.

Coming from San Juan Island to Anacortes what Washington Park had couldn't compare to San Juan Island. The view from Sunset Beach was nice

Love this park! You can choose to walk the loop or venture off onto the many crisscrossing trails. Your journey is punctuated by amazing views of the sound and numerous islands. Choose to hang out on the beach for a while and soak up that fresh salt air.

This is a beautiful little park with a beach . There are lots of picnic tables and a kitchen area you can use for large parties. There is lots of grass and tall shady trees around. The park is very family friendly and kind of quiet, not too crowded. This is great park for family fun and a very tranquil place for solos. The views of the water are amazing.

One of most beautifu, city parks I know of. Wonderful views, right in the middle of nature. Huge trees, bays and inlets, may see deer, rabbits, both songbirds and seabirds. Some times the occasional seal looking for handouts at the boat launch dock. Also has nice, reasonably priced camping area and boat launch into Puget Sound. Very close to San Juan Islands for boaters. Very nice beaches, some sandy , some gravelly, and some rocky. Also has large picnic grounds and facilities. More Tham 50 miles from our home, but we've been there many times, both for family gatherings, and indiviually.

This is an amazing park. Plenty to do and see for all skill levels. A local Starbucks Barista turned us on to this place. A great drive, walk, or hike. just gosh darn beautiful. We will come back. Don't miss this place. Any level of hiker could handle this place. A few places you will want hiking sticks but not most. Fun fun fun.

Gorgeous, quiet, serene. Well marked trail and roadways. Large boat launch area. Lots of parking. Only one port a potty.

We live in Anacortes and visit this park regularly in all seasons. We often bring out of town guests and family for a walk (trails and/or loop road). Along with Deception Pass Park, this is a wonderful place close to nature to show guests the beauty of this area.

Beautiful park, great place to watch the sunset. I would love a return visit, and maybe even camp there.

We drove the loop at sunset a few days ago. It had been 2-3 years since we had done this. Nice clean park. There were some additional park benches. Nice turnout spots to park and take pictures and picnic. Many people also walk the two mile loop. Good parking at the beginning.

Nice place to spend a few hours. Short hiking available. Not many shaded picnic benches but alright unless it’s really hot

Washington Park in Anacortes is by far the nicest city park I've ever been to. Located on a peninsula west of downtown, it offers a beach, hiking trails, lovely views, a campground, picnic area, and more. You can sit at a picnic table and watch the ferries sail among the San Juan Islands. We took a two mile hike around the park, enjoying the views, the lush forest, and the views of the water. Great place to visit!

Spent 1 night but wished we had spent more time there. Beautiful campsite in the trees. Good walking trails. Men's washroom wasn't working due to a renovation, but the boys had a quick shower in the women's washroom as the other building with showers was far to walk. No swimming as the water was ice cold, but nice beach to sit & hang out. Nice adventure walk along the water for the kids.

Fantastic place for a walk or a run. Beaches are great for kids to find crabs and do some beach combing. Also great for BBQs

Boat launch, campground and play ground make this a great day stop or overnight. Near the WS Ferry Dock in Anacortes.

Visited here multiple times during our two week stay. Can spend a few hours here just stopping along the way. Beautiful, serene, relaxing.

We walked around and took it all in! It was lovely. I would recommend getting out for a walk to check it out!

This park is beautiful and you can sit on the beach or eat at one of the many picnic tables and watch the ferries go in and out of the sound. Easy access for those who have trouble walking. There is a boat ramp and camping area. Also a very neat beach with sand and then one next to it with rock and pools for sea creatures.

This is a big park with a one way loop road that you can drive on, but is well worth parking and walking. The hills offer nice views of Puget sound and surounding islands.

We drove around the loop trail which offered multiple look out points where you could pull over and get out of the car. The highest point of the trail offered some beautiful views. The park also has a very nice little beach. Definitely worth checking out if you are in Anacortes.

Washington Park Loop (the road around the park) overlooks Skyline Marina and western Anacortes. Some of the most beautiful views in the Northwest are seen here.
I come out here several times a year just to sit and enjoy.
It is hard to imagine a better place to just sit, and watch the world go bye.
The blue spot on the maps show my current location.
I am sure you will enjoy the views when you drive or walk the Washington Park Loop.

This was a nice place to walk around the lake. Good for picnics, of just a relaxing afternoon after several days of more strenuous hiking.

A lovely green space to visit. There is paved driving\walking around the park 2.3miles, parking spots with viewpoints. One can be by the water or up on a cliff. There are marked hiking trails (easy mostly) and never a lot of people. It is beautiful and you can expect to see seals, eagles and if you are lucky the white-sides dolphin pod. This is a gem of a city park on the outskirts of Anacortes. The spring is my favorite time to visit, lots of wildflowers and once again a great place to observe marine mammals like harbor porpoises, harbor seals and sometimes even a sea lion! Breath taking scenery it's very high on the recommendation list must do enjoy it peace serenity. Restrooms available at the beginning of the drive and very clean. Well worth your time!

Great park right on the edge of town. The path around the park in a one-way paved road that can be driven if you have mobility limitations, and there are occasional parking spots to access vistas.
It's a great easy walk around park, maybe 1.5 miles and a couple hundred feet elevation change ? I've never measured it so those are both estimates.

Getting lost often times has great rewards, and was one of those times. We found ourselves at Washington Park several years ago and it has become a favorite spot whenever we visit Anacortes. It's beautiful and very quiet here. The loop drive has small unpaved pull off spaces for parking along the way with benches here and there for viewing the water. The entire park is forest with marked trails throughout. There is also a picnic area and a boat ramp. We saw quite a few deer and other wildlife. If you are in town please stop by. You won't regret it and may not want to leave! New restroom facilities now as well.

You can walk, you can sit on the beach by the ocean, you can camp, you can picnic, you can bike--if you're in Anacortes for any reason, spend some time here!

Used to be named "Sunset Beach" for good reason! Great place for families, dogs, and trail walks, too.

We were visiting Anacortes on our motorcycles and we were told by friends that we should go to Washington Park. We drove the loop and stopped at a few places along the way. A great drive and lovely park. The locals are very fortunate.

Beautiful park and the location can't be beat. We headed there after a five hour whale watching cruise and just enjoyed the sight. Deer walking by, great playground for children, picnic tables, and the beach!

My boyfriend and I decided to check out this park on a beautiful sunny day. We were not quite sure what to expect but we ended up being "Blown Away" by some of the absolutely breathtaking views! When we first drove up to the park it did not really look too inviting but we decided to drive the 2.2 mile Loop and check it out. Around the first bend we decided this is a special place ,so better to park the car and check it out. We parked by the staircase that takes you down to the Beach which is a great and safe area to explore especially if you have children. We decided to walk up the paved Road a little bit and came across a trail that takes you off to the right into the forest. This particular Trail travels uphill and along the ocean, with some pretty step drop offs, so not recommended for anyone with fear of heights or small children! But the views, absolutely stunning! I would recommend good hiking shoes , bring lunch, find a good spot and enjoy the view! We saw seals and eagles and had hummingbirds buzz by our ears. On our drive back we noticed a few other trails that lead into the Forest. Unfortunately we did not have time to check them all out this time around. We definitely will be back again do some more exploring!

This park includes a wonderful loop which meanders past campgrounds, picnic areas, ocean views and a boat launch. There's great spots to enjoy the beauty and relax. A fun find in our drive around Fidalgo Island

We loved this park! The scenic route loop was easy to access and was paved! Some wonderful views and beautiful wildflowers. There were tons of small trails jetting off the main loop that we explored. We spent a lot of time at the park and felt a bit lost at times on the side trails. A map would have been very helpful! Would definitely return and highly recommend!

This is one of the best parks in Skagit county. The views across the water to the other islands is breathtaking. It has great beaches and at low tide there is lots of exploring to do. The sunsets at this park are nothing short of amazing. They have a year round camp ground. Lots of hiking trails and a loop road that is drivable after 10 am. They also have spots to bbq, a kids playground and a few covered bbq spots. Their are many deer and rabbits that are always at the park.

We drove the loop road and it was great! Plenty of places to pull over and admire the views. No charge to visit. Thanks for saving this beautiful piece of land!

We parked our car in the lower lot and walked the loop. It is a beautiful two mile walk, stop along way to look at the amazing views. Lots of people walking, we stopped for a quick snack at the top of the loop and enjoyed the views.

Eveyone visiting Anacortes needs to drive and walk this one way payed road around the park. Beautiful views. Or if you have time there are many side trails you can take.

I moved nearby earlier this year & can walk to the park. Regardless if I’m just going for a walk or jog through the park I always love it. With the main trail (paved) running around the parameter there are many great views of the nearby sea. In addition to the paved trail there are numerous dirt trails to explore. What a great place!

What a treat! I had no idea how stunning this would be. My airbnb hostess just said "you have to go to Washington Park". So glad I did. Accessible for many abilities, even if by car. Stunning in ever direction. Get there. Pack a lunch. Stay. Really BE there. Luckily I had picked up some bagged popcorn before entering the park. When I saw these views, I grabbed my water and popcorn and stayed until the sun got really low in the sky. There's a great be fat bench on this grassy overlook, so set a spell. Stay awhile. Unplug.

We have been to Washington Park many times with friends & family ( including with young children ). It is a fantastic park for tide pool exploring - hiking - picnicking - photographing nature - or just relaxing.
There is a nice playground for kids - benches for sitting - & - tables for eating at.
The views of the San Juan Islands all around the perimeter are spectacular !

You can drive this park or walk it. It has great trails all around it too. Great views from many locations and stop points. Not very hilly. A must see!

Washington City Park has a great little campground. There is a great road loop to walk along ( closed to traffic until 10:00 AM) beautiful sights along the way. One Morning we saw a family of River otters eating a huge Crab, another morning we watched a seagull eating a small octopus!
There is a boat launch and small beach and grass area for a day of fun.
The campground is very shaded by large trees and the temps (64-74 degrees) are great in the summertime.
Lots of fun things to do near by- drive to Deception Pass for some beautiful views

One of our favorite spots in Anacortes is Washington Park! Whether walking near the water, driving through the park, picnicing, or camping, there's a sense of tranquility that fills the soul. We've been so fortunate to encounter wildlife there, and this time we spotted a deer and a seagull on an interesting perch. The sunsets are amazing!

We went to Washington State Park on a chilly Sunday morning to stretch our legs and get some fresh air. There's a driving loop which is about two miles long. The day we visited it was closed to vehicular traffic due to the antificpation of high winds later in the day. This made the walk a lot more enjoyable because you didn't have to watch out for cars the whole time.
On another day we took some of the trails away from the main loop. They opened up beautiful views of the surrounding water and islands. The trails aren't that well marked, though, so be prepared to explore and turn back from time to time. That's OK, though. It all adds to the excitement!

Great camping area. The city of Anacortes treats campers in a disgusting way by the way they maintain restrooms - dirty, floors covered in water, no toilet paper and smelly. C'mon City - treat people decently!

We enjoyed so much the slow trip on the loop road. So much to see, great vistas, views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, nice turn out stops for the car....incredible find.

We drove through this park on the very narrow paved road, and it was very beautiful with all of the tall trees and views of the sound waters. You could observe the Friday Harbor to Anacortes Washington State Ferry going through the channel in the distance, and the sunset was pretty spectacular too. There's dogs being walked, of course, and not that many cars at this time of year in October. There's picnic tables scattered along the shoreline road, with cut outs in the heavy trees and brush to park your car. Also a very nice view of Skyline Marina and some historical markers along the road. We will plan to come back here in the summer when it's a lot warmer and can have a little picnic of our own. Well worth a visit if you're into beautiful settings where a bad picture would be hard to take with these spectacular backdrops of green trees, brush, and blue water. There's also a boat ramp and camping area for RV's and trailers.

Great hiking trails including loop road throughout. You can drive through if you don't feel like hiking (10am til dusk). Have a picnic on the NW end of the park. Great whale watching location. Stop at the overlook facing S over Burrows Channel. Climb down the bluffs and sit watching the harbor porpoises and seals. This is where the university folks come to study the harbor porpoise behavior. Bring a book and some field glasses. Maybe a blanket for a nap. So peaceful down here. It's a 15 minute climb out that will get you ticker going.

Some of the most beautiful views of the San Juan Islands are to be had from Washington Park (WP).
Yesterday I saw couples, families and friends enjoying the park. Some even had their dogs with them. There is also a boat launch.
There is a great picnic area as you enter the park. There is a camping area, and a loop to drive around the peninsula. Many great views are to be had on the WP loop. There are many places to stop and get out of your car to see the views, and to go on short hikes.
If you have enough time, you can walk the loop.
WP should be a definite todo on your visit ti Anacortes.

My wife and I camped here for five days. The 2.5 mile loop road around the park has many great views and places to sit by the water or hike. I would have rated the park a 5 except for the fact that the campground was substandard. The parking pads for trailers were very uneven and sites were crammed too closely together, eliminating any privacy.

Beautiful. Great trails, camping and walking. Road circles the park, but only opens to cars after 10am, so people can walk it in the morning without cars.

This park is perfect for viewing the beauty of Anacortes! Great hiking trails or if you can't walk views are fine from the car! There are several pull offs for viewing the coast. The views are breathtaking! Great place for walking the dogs or just hiking. I felt very safe. This park is a must visit!

Lots of trails for walking, hiking, biking- nice 3 mile paved loop trail-also many trails through the woods. Picnic areas on the water with great views.

Views are spectacular. Many trails throughout the park. Lots of exploration for all levels of endurance or age. Picnic areas right by the water. Camp ground. One way circular road with many pullouts for those who want to ride instead of walk. Nice Bathrooms available. This park has it all. It is a gem!

Camping, beach, hiking, nice scenic driving loop, views and more. A great way to kill a couple of hours or a few days.

Heavily wooded campsite adds privacy, and a heightened sense of being in the woods. Beautiful beach is just a short walk away with campfires, BBQ pits - wonderful place to watch the sun go down. Parking nearby.

A popular place to walk and bike. Don’t just drive through. Stop and have a picnic or hike up to a better view. It is well worth it.

Do you want to camp? Hike? Boat? Enjoy the view? This is the place. The view from the lookouts and walking through the woods is restful and relaxing.

I have gone with Island Adventures at least five times. They have a new catamaran that gets out to where the whales are more quickly than their old boat. Naturalists are knowledgable and point out wildlife (seals, eagles, waterfowl) as well as whales. They guarantee their results; if you don't see whales you get another trip free. They succeed about 95% of the time. Trips take about half a day. Generally you see orcas (killer whales), with occasional humpbacks or minkes. Be sure to bring binoculars (although they have loaners on the boat) and a long camera lens. Rules limit how close they can get to the whales and mostly you see spouts and dorsal fins. But still a cool trip in a beautiful part of the world. Food on board is nothing special; bring your own.

Great park with beach, woods, a loop drive or walk, places to pull out. We really enjoyed this park, it has many magnificent views. It has a paved road to walk about a 2.25 mile walk, it also has a trail, a beach, plenty of areas to picnic at. There is even a designated handicap parking spot on the loop. Plenty of places to park for boat launching although there is a fee for parking there, some free parking for non boat launchers but not much. It was a terrific walk for my husband and myself as we wanted something more flat this week. Would go back here again easily.

You might think you're in a state park due to the size and the scenic location of Washington Park on the far west coastline of Anacortes -- but, no - it's just an outstanding city park. A narrow one way loop-road enables cars to tour the park and/or enter the campground area, but the road belongs to walkers everyday until 10 a.m. when many locals and visitors take their two-mile hike through the park using the road. The park often offers fabulous sunset views and always a breath-taking panoramic view of the nearby San Juan Islands; there's another lovely view of Burrows Channel and Burrows Bay from an overlook to the south. There are beaches, a picnic area, benches and lots of hiking trails. It's open all year and there's always something blooming or changing or intriguing to see within the park - especially for birders and nature lovers. The stillness of the dense forestlands is soothing and renewing. The location is easily accessible, past the state ferry terminal about 1/2 a mile. It's a treasure - pure & simple.

While visiting family in Anacortes, this is a great place to take my Alaskan Kids and put them near the water and in the woods. The smaller beach is nice, the playground is well maintained, the loop is a beautiful hike and or drive. Definitely a must place to check out.

Beautiful park on the western edge of Anacortes. Lovely, rocky beach; hike through the woods, picnic near the shore, many play fields for games (I've enjoyed croquet with friends many times!) Campsites are available. Shelters can be rented for parties, lots of picnic tables. In the summer heat, the cool breeze off the water is so welcome! My only gripe is that the waterfront trail circling the park is heavily used by cars - every time I walk there I'm constantly having to step into the bushes to avoid vehicles. I wish it was a pedestrian and bicycle-only path.

There are a few tables just after you start on the loop road and some parking pull outs. Great views, right on the water and wonderful on a pleasant day.

The park is beautiful, but campsite were too close together and confusing as to which ones were the nonreservable.

There is a scenic loop drive, and the park has a small but lovely beach. Peaceful for hiking or just enjoying the views.

great place for camping and boating. grassy shore line in the parks western edge makes a great place to watch the sunset.

Washington Park is a must-see destination when visiting Anacortes. We parked up in the day use area and walked the dog around the loop road. We took a couple of trails off the side which had some fantastic views, though I knocked off one star because there were no signs for any of the trails! Luckily our hotel gave us a good map which was really useful (even though the trails didn't always seem to match the map). I definitely recommend walking rather than driving the park if you have the time, it was stunning!

Washington park is a natural gem that is accessible to all levels of mobility. There is a paved road that goes by the great view sites, but you can also find trails that are both challenging and fun to follow. Get in early, and I will almost guarantee that you will spot some deer, an otter and half a dozen squirrels.

My 93 year old mother-in-law uses a walker, so can't get out much. This loop drive was a great way for her to get out in the forest for some fresh air. Nice views, fun road, nicely maintained, with lots of pull-outs for stops.

Washing Park is the ideal place to go for a relatively easy bicycle ride along a road with almost no traffic (we only saw one car on a Saturday afternoon) and speed limit is 10 MPH. Views are stunning overlooking the ocean, with plenty of places to stop for a picnic. Bathroom facilities at the top of the park overlooking the bay. Very scenic and highly recommended.

We had never been here before, but will never miss it again! WOW! Unbelievable view's. Spent 6 hours here and could not leave before sunset. Amazing! No words can adequately describe the views. Everyone needs to see this once in their life. "Hint" drive the beach loop road and pray for parking! You'll Thank me, or your money back.

The loop road is a must if you are visiting Anacortes. All the hiking trails are wonderful as are the beaches. The campground is a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of Deception Pass State Park.

When I first arrived this place was swarming with people. There were signs for parking and boats and the picnic area but nothing for hiking. Asking people, they said walk on the road. I found a trail marker off the "loop road" and managed to find the nature and vistas promised. Nothing is really marked and there are several trails that intersect. So you need to make extra effort. However, if you don't want a true hiking experience, the road is fine. I used the "All Trials. app" and was able to navigate.

We made a critical error and we took the scenic loop ..,, we missed the sign that was designed to keep motor homes out. Especially a 35 foot long 12 feet high one. We received many “excited” looks and jesters.
We actually made it with one 5 point turn and one 10 point turn. Multiple side scratches and roof scratches, several branches removed from trees and carried along.
Never do this!

This park covers a little bit of everything! You have beaches, rain forest, cliffs on the water, campground, boat ramp and picknicking! The loop has spots along the way to park and see or do whatever you enjoy, from whale watching, painting the islands in the distance, watching all the ferries and ships... great Park!

This is a great place to take a 2.3 mile loopwalk with small side trips out to view points. The park has a camp ground with sites in the trees, there are benches and porta potties in places along the road....a must see and experience while here..after 10am cars can drive the scenic loop!

Paved 2 mile loop provides an easy stroll along the coastline as well as through the old growth trees. Take binoculars, plenty of seals and dolphins (porpoises?)

Great place to have a picnic, walk or just sit and watch the water lap on the shore. Near the ferry terminal yet sit quiet and calm.

We visited this park while on a cross country trip from Ohio to Seattle. It sounded like it might be a nice little park on the water and we were not disappointed. Not sure if we'll be in the area again, but if we were, we would visit!

Nice facilities - restrooms/parking/picnic areas. Easy access from Whidbey via Rosario and from Anacortes and eastern traffic as well. Variety of easy hiking as well as more strenuous/longer hikes.

Anytime of the year, this is a fantastic place to go for a hike. There is a beach & boat launch, there are water edge trails and interior forest trails. You can stay on the main circle road or venture on single track trails along dramatic cliffs. Great place to walk your doggie!

Every town has some nice viewpoint, beautiful park that only the locals know. It's not marked on any tourist brochures, and maybe hard to find. Only the locals know how great the view is.
Washington Park is such a local gem.
I first found this park 10 yrs ago when scouting around the Puget Sound area for nice photography shooting locations. On the map it's just a small park by the ocean, not even a state park. But once you arrive there, you will be surprised by its great view of ocean, forest and islands.
There are lots of sightseeing points along the main loop road in the park. Each one is unique and provided different views. One is above the cliff with grassy field overlooking the islands, which is perfect for picnic. Another one has stairs all the way down to the beach. My most favorite is the one at the top of the hill. It has a very unique dead tree, and a perfect view overlooking the bay, the small port and island. At sunny days we can see all the boats sailing out of the port and waving to them. It's such a magnificent view.
Because the park is only known to the locals, it's quite easy to find parking at all the sightseeing spots. And it's never crowded, which I really appreciate.
If you like camping, the park also get a camping site. If you camp overnight, the sunset and sun rising view is near perfect.

With narrow winding road and lots of pullouts, this is an excellent little park in Fidalgo Island. First off, before we entered the park, my husband and I saw a Doe and two fawns at the entrance of the park. That, in itself, was a treat! The road is literally narrow, leading only one way up and out of the park. There are several pull outs to park your car. In some of them, there are trails with stairs that led down to the water!
There's certainly lots of hikers and bikers, it's a place for everyone. The trees remind me of some of the Redwoods in California. When you reach the top, there's magnificent views and more hiking trails. This park is a wonderful treasure in the middle of Fidalgo Island.

Great park near the ferry. Drive/walk the look and see a lot of view points. The beach is really pretty too with picnic tables.

It was a lovely day to spend at the park. I wish I were there now enjoying a glorious sunset. Visit and enjoy the fresh air and channel views

Campsites are pretty close together but beautiful area, with few mosquitoes when we went in mid June. The rangers are very attentive, I feel like they were always driving around. It was pretty crowded on the weekend with typical screaming children. The newly remodeled womens bathroom has free hot showers but the mens you still have to pay for. There were several deer that kept approaching us and our picnic table trying to get at chips and hot dog buns! Had to storm at them yelling to get them to go away. One female even half stood on the picnic table!

We live 1 mile from this park. It has camping, and a boat ramp. There is a road trail as well as other trails that cross through the park. The road loop trail is 2 1/8 mile long. You have views of Burrows Bay and Island, as well as other San Juan Islands. There is a beach area to walk down to by stairs. There is Green Point to have a picnic as well as Sunset Beach, an easier beach to get to with BBQ area, and playground. There is a dock to launch your boat and area to wash your boat (bring you own hose).

Great public park with incredible views. Great facilities for large parties and lots of friendly locals.

We took a sandwich, soup, and chips...sat on a picnic table and watched the ferries go by as we ate lunch. If I had a blanket, might have grab a nap on the grass. Instead of large parking lots, they have small one car pull-outs that lead to the water. They also have trails galore, and overlooks. Great free spot...

We went there on recommendation and it was pretty decent. The only thing is that we could not do the scenic loop as it was closed. We only spend time on the beach and that also was limited due to the super windy weather. However we made a note of visiting it in the summer again. it's definitely worth a visit.
There is park, picnic area , campsites and boat launch.

My family has been going there for generations. We have camped in RV's, tents, and spent days there picnicking for many reunions or special evens in all kinds of pacific northwest weather. There is a boat launch, play area for kids, and there are wild bunnies, and island deer that roam around. You can watch the Washington State Ferries and many boats travel the channels on their way to the San Juan Islands and beyond - always fun. There are sea birds, and wonderful sunsets there, hence the name of the beach park! The loop drive is hairy because of it's winding and upward path, and it is one way, so be on the lookout for walkers (who tire easily and need a break, it's steep in places!) and some take bikes up there but I don't know h-o-w! I would NOT recommend an RV or trailer on that loop drive, better to leave that in your camp lot and take another vehicle...they're probably not even allowed! The loop drive is a true loop and you will wind back up at camp anyway and can roast those mallows and dogs afterwards...fabulous. The air is great there, sea and salt air combined with a berry and woodsy pine scent...fabulous! Even if you just pick up a picnic from Anacortes and find a pull in spot, and get out your blanket, make sure you check it out...it's worth it!

Great City Park just beyond the Ferry turnoff on Sunset. Enjoyed the views of the islands and passages! Great walking or driving loop withpulloffs to enjoy the view!

We didn't have much time to explore Washington Park but I'm so glad we did. It was surprisingly quiet for the middle of vacation season. Make sure you drive the loop through the park. There are so many great places to stop and enjoy the view. We found a place to stop and take the staircase down to the beach. We had the beach to ourselves for almost 30 minutes. It is a fun place to explore the tide pools or to just relax and take in the view. This would be a great place to watch the sunset or enjoy a romantic picnic. Don't miss this free attraction if you are in the area.

Forest trails or a quiet one-way road-lovely views, leashed dogs welcome, picnic areas and a generally great place to enjoy an afternoon. Hoping to return one day!

Hiking trails, can get down to the beach, or picnic in the park. There are great views of the water, and a boat ramp.

We had some time to kill before catching a ferry so we drove up the street to Washington Park and played some frisbee.
Being right on the water and with a kick-butt playground, this must be a popular spot for locals and those throwing small get-together's.

Wash Park (as the locals call it) is a few square miles of forest land on a peninsula with 270 degree views if you go all away around it. There are many hiking trails (need boots or sneakers with good traction - it can be a little muddy and slippery in spots) which go through the forest with a few up and down parts. You can get turned around in there if you don't pay attention though as you won't have many visual landmarks to tell which way you are going. There is a paved one way road around the entire periphery though and many take there cars. It is a little over 2 miles on the road. Many people, including me, will walk the trail although the cars can be a bother. It is not a wide road. It will get your heart going if you go the whole way around by foot. Your car can take you to the major viewing spots - of Rosario Straits, the end of the Straits of Juan de Fuca, and Burroughs Bay. The park trails and road start and end in the Skyline area at the far west end of Anacortes. The park is great on sunny days, cloudy days, and rainy days if you are OK with that, but it really is best on clear days when you can see across the straits and see the Olympic mountains many times. There are a few parking spots at the view points but not a lot and they may be full in the summer at peak hours. Many locals go out there every day for walking exercise. The narrow road is NOT suitable for trailers or big RVs. Repeat NOT! Some have gotten stuck on the tight, steep switch backs. A small camper trailer might be okay though. The park is only open from dawn to dusk, except for the campground in the middle. I actually have never gone there. It has a bit of a seedy reputation with some homeless and some partying. But it might be OK. I'd ask at the Chamber of Commerce downtown. You can get trail maps there too. A good place to take out of town visitors. It will take you at least 30 minutes to drive around and stop for quickie views so don't go if you have to make the ferry real soon. You can get down to the water. Good place to see birds. There is a boat ramp with a big trailer parking lot. The beach park that is at the main entrance has a sand beach, good views, picnic tables and a couple of covered picnic spots. Good for families and groups. Take Highway 20/12th St/Ferry route all the way west past the ferry turnoff. The road changes names three times but is the same road.

A well done park close to town. Good views and not heavily used. Its the next best thing to actually being in the San Juan Islands.

Of our 4-week vacation we spent the last days in Anacortes and enjoyed Washington Park Campground. It was clean, had warm showers, a "library" and curious deer for company.

Had a great little 2 mile hike and we saw lots of deer. It is near the water and the restrooms are clean.

Beautiful location and views....don't miss stopping by here! Great area fro a picnic, and watching the boats go by!

Beautiful little park with overlooks out towards the San Juan Islands to the west. Looks like a great place to get out and hike, walk or run. There were some idealic park benches here and there.

My favorite place! I grew up at the park! A must! The view of the sound is beyond beautiful!
Great place to walk, great beach

Boating the SanJuan and while mooring in Anacortes, went for a drive around west side of island to the park, making the loop road. Great for small cars, some tight corners for full size truck required backing up to get around single, one way blacktop out. Absolutely no oversized (motorhome, trailers, etc). If only going as far as parking lot to the park, it's ok, but don't drive past it to make the loop.

Beautiful park with pavilions and playgrounds. Fantastic views and very relaxing. Definitely a place to visit.

This park has picnic areas, hikes, boating, and spectacular scenery off a paved drivable loop. At one stop, we saw an eagle eyeing the rapid current below, in search of his next meal. We saw otters playing out in the narrows. It was a gorgeous day and the park was full of hikers and picnickers. This park is beautifully maintained, and a park that you can come back to again and again.

Wa Park is an Anacortes City park. We live here and go there all the time. There is a 3 mi driving/hiking loop around the park with multiple trails throughout the wooded interior as well as hikes around the perimeter where you hike along the ocean bluffs. We enjoy great hiking trails especially in the spring when the wild flowers are everywhere, picnicking at the west end on the park which is overlooking Puget Sound toward Lopaz Island in the San Juan Islands. We ride our bikes around the 3 mi loop and watch for seals, sea birds, eagles and maybe an orca if you are lucky. The trails have some clay so can be a bit slippery during the rainy months. The picnic tables are usually busy during the summer weekends especially July-mid Sept but there is lots of space between where you can bring your own table etc. The rest of the year and days of the week are pretty quiet and sometimes you are the only person out there!!

Washington Park is a very nice park. It includes miles of hiking trails, beaches, a boat launch ramp, picnic areas, a playground, and nice views north west and south. Weddings are often held on one of the meadows with a view of the
San Juan Islands. Sea kayakers often launch there for trips south to Burrows Island or Deception Pass, west to James Island and the San Jun Islands, or north to Cypress Island or Orcas Island. At dusk black rabbits come out by the hundreds to dine on the meadow grasses.

Nice park that is easy to get to. It overlooks the sound and you can see much from the park.
I was surprised to even see an Eagle on the tree branches.

Nice easy hike within walking distance of hotel. beautiful weather and views. paved walkways so cars go by but not a lot of them

We rode out the loop road on a whim while exploring the area and ended up spending the afternoon. Beautiful park, well maintained road. Drive with extra care as many bicyclers and walkers use the paved road as well.
Stop and enjoy the views. We spent the afternoon in the sun watching an eagle fishing, a lot of dolphin/porpoise and seals/sea lions feeding below. Great wooded areas. Close to town.

When you first come to the park, you will come to a nice little day use park/picnic area. Next to it there is a boat launch. There is a one way road that loops around the park that you can drive or walk. It's about a two mile loop with many turn outs and view points with great views. Also there are many other trails crossing through the park for more wilderness sightseeing.

Washington Park is an oasis of natural beauty with its water vistas, picturesque island views, and wildlife. There are so many ways to appreciate all the offerings: walk a trail, drive the loop, perch on a bench, camp overnight, etc. It's a must-visit Anacortes gem!
We enjoy going at sunset for the beautiful view.

There are so many good things about this park. It's a perfect place to visit with couples, family, by yourself or with a group. There is a fun playground for kids, a wide grassy lawn that's perfect for Frisbee or other yard games like Ladder Golf, a picnic area along with barbecues and shelters. And that's not all... this beautiful park is right on the beach with a boat dock and views one will never grow tired of. You can watch ferry boats, sailboats, and kayaks. There is also a lovely camping area. But the best thing--the very best thing--is the loop road which you can drive, bike, or walk around (no trailers though) and enjoy incredible views of the bay. Whether you come for an hour or five days, a visit to this park will never disappoint. I live 20 miles away and come often.

Nice wooded loop drive with several pull outs to see the sites of the island. Lots of walkers and joggers along the road so please obey the speed limit. Places to stop and have your lunch while admiring spectacular views. Worth your time to visit.

After checking out of our hotel and finishing up at the fair, we went out to the park. We decided to drive the loop trail and pull out at some turnouts. I can't count the number of times my wife and I remarked on the fact this is a city park. The stops we made were well worth the time and we managed to see an immature eagle.

Went there for a birthday party, and what a lovely park it is. Sit on the beach and enjoy the out of doors. Very fun place, and no fee to park or get into

We recently stayed at the majestic inn in Anacortes and wanted a place to walk out dog near the ocean. We searched online and found this lovely park. You can drive around but I would recommend walking. Half way around the loop is a huge highlight of the ocean spread out in front of you. Gorgeous!! Beautiful place to pack a lunch and eat here.

Washington Park was recommended by our inn keeper as a nice area for hiking and biking. We walked the 2.3 mile loop in a beautiful area forested with ferns, Madrone trees, pines and oaks. There are many trails for getting off the paved loop, as well as good areas for mountain biking.

Haven't visited the park, only launched my boat there. Not that impressed with the launch, backing is difficult because it curves at the launch. If your there before daylight it's really difficult as there are no lights. Driving through with a trailer is also difficult as roads are really small with tight turns.

This park has a boat launch, beach area, scenic loop and campground. It is filled with lovely old growth trees and has wonderful views of two sides of Fidalgo Island. Great place to take a picnic lunch and explore.

Enjoyed a ride around the park and a picnic lunch overlooking the harbor. Lots of children play things as well as the natural surroundings. Some traffic to be aware of on the bike.

Walk, bike or drive through Washington Park and enjoy the views along the way! If you decide to drive, vehicles longer than 20' will have problems due to hairpin turns. We drove our dually and had to back up once to make the turn without running off the road or hitting a tree. Recommend Washington Park for photo opportunities, biking, hiking, walking or just sitting on a bench enjoying a book.

The loop trail in Washington Park is a wonderful place to walk/hike. It is shaded in many sections, almost rain forest like. There are some inclines, but they are manageable for older walkers. Then, there are the views - so incredible.
The loop is about 2 miles in length, with inclines. There is also vehicular traffic, but that doesn't detract from the walk or the views.
Dogs are allowed. There are pull-in parking spots along the loop, if two miles is a bit too long for your walk.
This is a gem of a park.

We decided to go to Anacortes on a whim. We forget about how easy a day trip it is as it’s only about 1.5 hours away from north Seattle. My first thought was to go on a walk around Washington Park because we are trying to walk more and I recalled it being a great park. I recalled correctly!
We didn’t end up walking the full loop because there were too many great places to veer off the path and explore. We veered off to a rocky area to see if we could spot starfish. We veered off to a grassy area to take in a wider expanse and the San Juan Islands. Another area was more beachlike.
We ended up turning around less than halfway through. Once back at our car (free day parking!), we could have driven back to the main road but we decided to drive through the park. I had vaguely remembered a lookout but wasn’t sure if that was part of this park or another area in Anacortes. It was in this park, and it overlooks Burrows Bay to Burrows Island.
There are campsites in the middle of the park. We’re thinking next year we’ll try to reserve spots as soon as reservations open. Then we can stay longer and explore more! Just outside the loop there are clean restrooms, some with free showers.

Washington Park is a favorite of locals - lots of dog walkers. It has both paved trail and off trails through the woods

My girlfriend who is a local in Anacortes insisted we visit Washington Park to take a hike and visit Sunset Beach, and I'm so glad we did. The views of the other islands were amazing even on a cloudy day like we had. It was beautiful and majestic with the tall trees, birds, water and views. Great forest therapy! This is a must if you are in the area!

The park offers paved and unpaved walking trails. Views were amazing. Facilities were clean. Parking was free and plentiful.

Visited this beauty in April 2018, while it was raining in seattle, it was sunny and beautiful here. Choose to park and walk through the trails as you will appreciate the raw nature and beauty of this place.

The drive through the park was amazing. It was like taking a hike, while sitting in the car. And the lookout point was fabulous. Plenty of boats, islands and birds to see.

Campground is extremely clean and facilities are good. Workers are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Lots to see and do in the area

Allow some time to enjoy this walk in the woods along with outstanding views of the water. , Pack some water and a camera

Gorgeous park with amazing views and lots of short hikes. There are so many benches and tables that are begging for a picnic to be had. A hidden gem!

I love the long walks, hiking trails, and benches to look out over the Puget Sound. Sunsets are especially spectacular.

Washington Park is a wonderful place for many occasions. There are lots of great trails and the tidal pools are fun to check out at low tide.

Washington Park was an unexpected surprise in the midst of Anacortes. The locals seem to use it for their daily walks and bike rides. It was a little more work than I would like for the bike riders, but if you are fit, it is for you. We just drove around the one way road and enjoyed the many views of the ocean. Great park to visit when you are exploring the area.

We walked the loop road trail. About 2.5 easy miles. Such a beautiful place with wonderful views. There is a very nice picnic area on the west side. And plenty of parking.

Loved driving through the park enjoying different views and lots of photo ops. Visited on a beautiful summer weekday and we were fortunate there were very few people.

Drove around the park and stopped to take beautiful pictures and explore a beach. Wonderful views of wildlife, the islands, and mountains. Will enjoy taking my family back here one day!

After many years of Fidalgo Island drove north along the west side and happened upon this outstanding place. There is a Loop Road that is beautiful and natural. Was fortunate that there was almost no traffic. I will return soon with family and friends when the weather is suitable for walking. The park seems to be close to its natural state. Ther are many old trees and other life.

Beautiful park with great views of ferry and islands. Great place for watching seals and other sea creatures.

If you love the Pacific NW mountains and sea this park is for you....great place to launch a boat but even better for walking paths, picnics and exceptional views. At the end of the road past the ferry terminal exit.....keep going an extra mile or so and you'll be rewarded.

The park is beautiful. We drove the loop and stopped one time to take in the water views. Lots of people were walking the loop and us driving disturbed them as the road is pretty narrow. If we visit this area ever again, I would definitely walk it instead of driving. I suggest the loop should be reserved for walkers and runners on particular days and times.

We ha an hour to wait for our whale watch so we drove the loop. There were many pulloff spots for views. We stopped at one to walk to the beach. There is hiking through the park and the trails looked well kept. People were also using the loop for walking, could use bikes too. We didn't see the campground. Wish we had more time there.

A one way road wind you around the crest of this point. Treed and full of nature, you will discover places to sit and gaze upon the Puget Sound waterways and San Juan Islands beyond. Pack a picnic or bring a good book... this is a delightful place to catch your breath. Boaters and beachcombers will have easy access to the waterways, too.

We loved the loop trail drive and stopped to hike in quiet woods and on sunny grassy hillsides. No fee for this great place to watch the sunset while viewing the San Juan Islands.

LOVED IT HERE. wish we would have spent more time there we stayed as long as we could. we will be back and staying at the park

Perfect place to camp if you want to take a whale watching trip. 5 minutes to the harbor. The camping spots are large and wooded. There are great hiking and short mountain biking trails right from the camp ground. Reasonably priced and very well taken care of. Close to everything. We will definitely visit again.

WA Park has great walking trails with beautiful views of the San Juan Islands. For those who don't want to walk, and there is a 2 mile loop road that you can take to enjoy the views.

This park has easy hiking with lovely views of the San Juan Islands. The play ground is fun for kids. There is a nice beach for relaxing & taking in the sites.

Amazing city park, with camping...just amazing. Don't miss out if you're in the area. You won't be sorry

We camp in our 5th wheel here. Water, electric lots of trees. Alittle chilly sometimes. If you like walking trails rocky beaches beautiful views boating kayaking camping this is the place. One of my most favorite places. The ferry to the San Juans is down the street.

Beautiful stunning park , not very busy, wonderful walk around the cove but beach access is small . Still a nice quiet place to take in all Washington has to offer and is beautifully maintained.

This is one if my favorite places to visit in Anacortes. Beautiful scenery all around you. I enjoy the loop, the views from the bluff, the beach. No matter how many times we visit, it never gets old. I feel so blessed to have this beautiful treasure so close to home!

Great pork- low key. On the water with a smooth stone beach. Lots of play equipment for kids. Easy trails and dog friendly. Fire pits and picnic tables- great at sunset.

The beach is beautiful and very family friendly. This park is so busy it should have more bathroom facilities closer tot he beach area. Also the spickets they had indicating water were shut off. With having a BBQ area it would be helpful to have the water turned on. Parking was also difficult, we have handicapped parking and were unable to find a spot because of cars and trucks with trailers illegally parked where there were signs saying NO TRAILER parking. We finally found a spot and enjoyed a nice day at the beach. Couple fixes and this beach and location would be primo.

This park is a must if you are on Fidalgo Island. The "loop" goes all the way around the park with many pullouts for parking and picnic spots for the views which are pretty spectacular. Explore the beach at low tide to find treasures. Bring the dog (on a leash) and walk the loop. Bring the kids or hike alone. You won't be disappointed!

We arrived early afternoon and wanted to explore the area and our hotel recommended this park to us. We walked the whole loop drive and were amazed at the number of people out walking their dogs and enjoying the scenery. It was a beautiful and peaceful way to get some exercise and enjoy the local area.
It is free to park and walk around. There are areas to park near the entrance before you get too far along the loop road.
There are some not-super-obviously-marked restrooms near the boat launch parking area, but they were a bit malodorous unfortunately. It is a building with lots of doors on either side with a number on each door and they look like you'd need a key to open the door, but inside each door was a single stall restroom.
We would definitely come here again in the future!

Visiting this park was a fabulous experience. The walk around the loop afforded some of the most beautiful views I've seen anywhere in Washington state. This was well worth a visit. We went on a rather cloudy day in winter, but it was still nice. We are looking forward to going back on a nice sunny day in the summer.

This is a gem of a park which has a boat launch, beach, tide pools, benches to enjoy the ocean view along with a quiet scenic walk, drive, or bike. There is also a campground for paid use. The approximately 2 miles long and provides scenic views, majestic trees and spectacular ocean views. It is located near the ferry terminal for easy use.

We have a picnic at the Park once a month in the summer.
Works well for large groups.
Very nice facilities, large fire pit, bring your own wood.
Playground equipment.
At the boat ramp and salt water for swimming.

We live in Anacortes, and this park is so gorgeous that we visit regularly, to watch sunsets, hike and picnics.

Beautiful park on the tip of fidalgo island. Beautiful views of the islands and wildlife. Deer and bald eagles this trip. Numerous spits to sit and reflect. Also a great look to walk or jog. Has small beach also which is great for families

The park is a great place to go for walk!.. Great views from trails all over the park. Another Anacortes gem

We stayed here for one week. The park is very beautiful and the campsites are great! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The one bad thing is the bathrooms, they were not cleaned the entire time and they are filthy. There is some kind of deodorant sprayed or maybe bug spray, but they are awful. It seems like the city could hire a cleaning crew to rectify the situation. If dirty bathrooms are ok with you, everything else is great!

Beautiful park with a nice loop drive, lots of pretty vistas, great hiking areas, and it's very well maintained.

Do an easy walk or bike ride on the paved road or pick an off road trail along the waters edge. Beautiful views of the Strait, Skyline marina, boats go by, sometimes whales! There's an historical monument of the person who gifted the land, don't miss that. Camping, public beach and a boat launch!

About a 3 mile hike. Road is paced but quite steep in places. Share the hike with cars. Lots of dogs on leash. Wonderful views; especially at the top!

This is a great park for a leisurely walk or a more strenuous off road hike. Lots of well marked off road trails. The road also provides a nice walking path.
Traffic on the road is minimal, slow and only travels in one direction.
Views are amazing. Lots of great places for a picnic lunch!
Perfect morning walk before the road is opened to traffic at 10:00 AM
Since I am staying only 1.5 miles from the entrance of this park it was an easy walk to the park, walk the road loop (about 2.3 miles) and then return home A little over 5 miles roundtrip, about 1:30. There is even a Little Free Library on the way to the park. There are also trails through the woods, which I choose not to take. A couple of bathrooms along the way. Very, very friendly people out for their exercise.
