We were in Cleveland for the weekend and decided to stop by here on Saturday afternoon after reading reviews. We spent about an hour walking around and shopping for a few items. So many tempting options to see and mull over here. My husband brought home some jerky and desserts.

Great experience! The location of the market is in a cute neighborhood close to downtown. Beautiful building with a lot of vendors selling meats, breads, pastries, cakes, cheeses, and more. The outdoor market has plenty of vegetables and fresh fruit. The parking lot behind the market is $10 for the day and is very close to both the market and surrounding shops. Great place to shop local

We didn't have much time to spend here. Just came in and grabbed some delicious food for lunch and of course some awesome baked goods for dessert.

We were looking for a quick place to eat as we left town and wandered into the Market. Lots of fresh vegetables and meats. We sampled many of the baked goods and had some great Irish pasties for lunch. Will go back when we visit family again.

This is a market, pure and simple. If you are looking for a little bit different and exotic, this is a good place to go but don't come in thinking you are going to get a deal. Not to say the food is overpriced but it's not a place to expect a bargain. It is, however, an interesting place to drop in and, for those traveling, an easy place to get some light food that you can carry with you and maintain a semblance of health.
The traffic around the area is going to be busy if you are driving. Parking is in the back. The first hour is free (maybe the first 90 minutes, I can't quite remember) so if you go in and go out quick, you should be free. There is also street-level parking. There are two main market buildings. One is more narrow and consists of the fresh fruit and vegetables. The bigger area is the meats, breads, and desserts. Most of the meats are not cooked. It is essentially like any grocery store. There are things you can eat on the go but most of it are foods that require cooking.
The best view is up the stairs overlooking the entire main shopping area. You get a really good look at the old architecture and design of the building.
Overall, come in for a quick healthy snack to take on the go or for a cute dessert for the young ones.

Our party of five senior women went to the market to find an adventure, hoping to sample multiple ethnic cuisines. Post Covid the selections have diminished. Also, we went on a Wednesday and the freshness of breads and bakery items was not good. The crepes, however, were phenomenal. As was the produce.

This food market certainly provides for the majority of tastes. A wide variety of danish pastries, cakes, & sweets for the sweet tooths. For savory lovers, there are cheeses from all over the world, smokies and other meats. A food lovers delight.

Very cool place to visit. Fresh everything, and just about everything is offered ! Highly recommend the homemade hummus and organic veggie stand.

My husband and I visited the West Side Market this weekend. We went on Saturday. It was bright and sunny here in Cleve.!! We bought freshly made spinach linguini from Ohio Pasta Company!! Amazing...it reminded me of the pasta we ate while vacationing in ITALY. Lots of fish, poultry, and pastries, too.
DO NOT MISS THE WEST SIDE MARKET š©š»āš³

Such a cool historic market. So many vendors and yummy options for lunch along with fresh meats, fruits and veggies. There's a main hub and then there is another hall next to the main building with more goodies. Find the stairs to the balcony to sit, eat and people watch.

Great market place, so many smells and tastes and all in a beautiful old building. Try the pastries and the meat sticks, simply super! Had a wonderful time.

There is plenty to try here. The prepared food choices are great! I personally recommend Steve's Gyro's, great amount of food and it never disappoints.

We were there on a holiday Monday so not all the stalls were open. But the ones that were open were excellent! It was fun to stroll around all the stalls in the main area and see all that was on offer. We found a lot food items we wanted to buy, including some Irish Fife Wheat bread which we used to make sandwiches on our travels for a few days.

Nice market and a beautiful building. I was a little disappointed that more vendors didnāt have like hot meal food. It was somewhat rare to find. Interesting to visit and probably fantastic to grocery shop as a local. We got some great sweets.

We visited just to check it out and if we lived closer this is where weā one for fresh produce, meats and pastries.

Extensive and fresh produce. Exotic fruits not everyone can name. Baked goods and breads were enticing. Several nice stores with good selection of spices. Meats and cheeses are abundant. Foodies must go.

Loved this stop on our Cleveland girls weekend. The different food areas, where fantastic and food was spectacular.

This place was amazing! Everything looked so good. Big selection. Anything you want to eat can probably be found here!

We went there early Sunday afternoon. They open from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
Vegetable and fruits shops are located at the separate building. Meat, fish and others are in the main building. Majority of places only accept cash.
There are about 100 shops and fun to look at them. Ohio pasta sells fresh pastas.
We got Cambodiaās foods and ate at the upstairs where there is no table nor chairs though.

Great market. Best purchase was the bread, hummus, beef sticks. Worst purchase was from Pierogi Palace.
We paid $20 for a dozen uncooked pierogi from the Pierogi Palace. The lady was rude. We choose 4 different flavors (potato/cheese, potato/onion, potato/cheese/bacon, potato/kraut), had her split them up 2 flavors per bag. We pointed to the flavors we wanted. Watched her pull from each labeled bag. We came home and cooked them. Some were missing the dough on one side. They were ALL PLAIN POTATO. Bland and doughy. What a scam. Donāt fall for it. Iām Polish. I will stick to making my own.

It was very overwhelming seeing all the different stops with very similar products. There were several bake shops, meat markets with jerky and kielbasa and sausage, meat markets with fresh meats - pork, lamb, etc.; cheese shops, fish spices. I thought there would be more options for prepared food, but there was not. I had actually been looking forward to eating lunch there, but that didnt happen as most of it was meat to take home. Being as though we were heading home on an 8 hour trip, taking fresh meat was not an option. I did try Greek cookies and many baked goods that were delicious. There is also a fruit and vegetable market. We parked in the lot behind the market which is free for 90 minutes.

Not many US cities Iāve been to have open fresh markets and this one is not to be missed. Even if you canāt buy much because youāre traveling itās worth it to see this clean and organized market and grab a bite for a snack.

I went to get some vegetables from Sam the vendor around 4:40pm almost around closing .I didn't want much but Sam the worker at the stand said he would just throw in some things extra like potatoes and more .I said no but he said help me but what started out to be was 30.00 I got home and he charged my ebt 89.00.𤬠Oh that's why he gave me my card but not the receipt NOT COOL SAM. You guys are close now so I'm leaving this

Would have given this a 5 if more of the stalls were open. Assume due to the current health issue caused some to stay away. Those that were open were full of beautiful items that one expects to find. Market is very clean and well organized booths are well stocked with meat, fruit, vegetables and of course bakery items. We bought several pastries and fruit items to eat on the road. The market is easy to locate and has a large parking area available.

I wish we had something like this where I lived! So much wonderful food. We were visiting so weren't able to purchase much but the desserts we got were incredible.

The market was not as huge as I thought. Some of the vendors were closed. The ceiling in unique but I agree it is not as impressive as the pictures.

Awesome old style market place with lots of stands that offer different types of food. Great place to visit and see the ebb and flow of Cleveland.

West Side Market is a real gem. Its unique history and wide variety of quality goods is unbeatable. It's truly enjoyable to walk through, provided it isn't overwhelmingly crowded. The first time I went was on a weekend (I think a Sunday) morning, and it was so crowded that I didn't end up buying anything. I was lost in the sea of people and felt totally overwhelmed. However, I went back with my husband on a Friday later on in the afternoon and it was perfect for us. It was a completely different experience and felt much more relaxed for us. We even got some extra good deals since it was closer to closing time. I will say, though, that some vendors close up early or leave earlier on in the day, so there are fewer vendors at the less crowded times. So choose a time that makes the most sense for you.

Much better than large supermarkets. Many wonderful options. I can see going here 2-3 times a week. Fresh produce, meats, seafood, etc. bakeries with local favorites. Love that we have this market in CLE. We are so lucky!

The market is large and divided into two areas. One for fresh vegetables and fruits and one for everything else.
There herb shop is very extensive and pockets many legumes and grains as well.
The Eastern European meat counter has amazing smoked garlic sausage.
There spots offering prepared foods to go or to grab for lunch
Vendors are friendly and helpful.
The first 90 minutes of parking are free and then it is $1 per hour.

I love the West Side Market! It is the best place to get meat in Cleveland. The meat is fresh and great. Other than just meat they have a variety of stands, from pastries, pasta, cheese etc.. It's a must visit if you're visiting Cleveland. I don't think you will find anything quite like it anywhere else in the USA. After your visit too there are plenty of breweries and great restaurants all around it within walking distance.

Stopped here on our way out of town and picked up some desserts for with our Thanksgiving dinner. What a fun place. If I lived in Cleveland I would frequent this place. Everything looked wonderful!

Go here!! What an awesome market. Everything is so fresh. Parking is cheap (seemed to be free in Sunday) and prices are reasonable. Go close to close and they will give you discounts!

Yes you could say there's clones of this market in most major North American cities (and that's true), HOWEVER, this is one the more interesting ones I've come across in my travels because of the variety of meats, produce & treats offered.

All sorts of food shops (stalls) throughout this historical building. Vendors are good to work with and helpful. Choices from fruits to spices to different meats, sea food items, breads & sweets.

If only the North Market in Columbus were this good! An old-school market with a separate enclosure for the produce area. We made a trip here on the way out of town and came away with wonderful sausages, fresh basked goods and locally made pasta-sauce. The foods on display will make your mouth water or get your cooking ideas flowing. Very friendly people, willing to give you suggestions, even if it is for another vendor, for items to go with what they are selling. Even if you aren't necessarily a foodie, this Cleveland icon is worth a visit.

This was a very cool place to go. They sell all kinds of fresh meat, seafood, and fruit. There's a place in there that made good crepes as well. If you're into markets I would definitely come check this out.

A lovely place to visit spend some money on good greens fruits and everything one can eat. Worth a visit if you have morning free.

So many vendors selling everything from meats, desserts, pastas, spices, ethnic foods, etc.............. Had a great time just walking around and taking it all in. But did make some purchases too!

This is a great place to pick up fresh meats of all kinds, fruits & vegetables, fresh and dried, prepared foods, baked goods and more. If it was near where I lived I would be there all the time. Free parking for 90 minutes too.

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Westside market for approximately the 10th time in as many years. The combination of fresh produce, savory local meats and home-baked goods is astounding and the purveyors could not be more helpful.
All of these impressive vendors add up to an American equivalent of Harrodās London food halls, as the Marketās tiled, vaulted ceilings are equally as majestic. Westside Market is a treasure.

Fun place, the vendors were so friendly. All the booths of displays food and ware were nicely done. The food all looked very fresh.. We were on a time limit, and only purchased a couple pastry's which were delicious. We also purchased a couple of Kitchen utensils which were reasonably priced. We will go back before going homier our time allows.

Went with my cousins who live in the area. It was quiet for a late Saturday afternoon. Bought good German brown bread from one vendor and salsa from another. There is a bit of everything here. I wished I was going home so I could purchase things to take home with me.

Nice 90 min free parking in the back. Fun to browse up and down the aisles. Some had samples. Lots of pastries!!
Go sit upstairs and people watch for a bit.
Veggie/fruit market in the building across the street.

This was my first visit to Cleveland and this covered market was a must-see. More than 100 years old, it has specialist baked goods reflecting the city's cultural diversity, in addition to the usual fish, meat, cheese and vegetables.
If I lived or worked downtown I think I would visit most days to pick up fresh food. Highly recommended.

Good food, fair prices and fast service.
We like coming here just before the market opens and then venturing through to see what the vendors have brought that day.
If youāre looking for hearty fare- you canāt miss with The Hot Mess. Couldnāt finish it all but it was delicious!

I can admit it- I got taken for a ride. Read this so you don't have to.
Monday afternoon my family went to West Side Market for fun and to see what we needed. On entering the produce stall we were swept into a frenzy of unsold produce, mostly fruit- the result of a slow day and a waning afternoon, we were told.
We tasted many pieces of fruit and happily bought a few flats. Nothing was perfect, but it doesn't have to be to make great jam or pie filling or syrup.
When we got home, what we had was a rotting mess.
*Nothing* like what we had tasted and green lit.
As we've started talking to friends and acquaintances about this, wondering if this is common practice or if we hit the scam lottery, we have heard many stories identical to ours- "select your own fruit, put it in your bag yourself, or be warned", is the gist of it.
West Side Market- do better.
Vendors- do better.
Other vendors- if you see something, say something. YOU are losing business because of your unscrupulous compatriots.
As for my family and me, I'm not sure we'll be back. I can find rotten fruit on the ground anywhere.

What a beautiful & historical building. We paid $12 to park nearby (next to the Great Lakes Brewery) & wandered throughout the building. Used their public bathrooms. Great selection of unique food & at good prices.

Amazing Place! So many venders..... meat, cheese, fish, and bakery filled to the brim and arranged beautifully! Everything looks Amazing! The fruit, vegetables and baked good looks fake, they were so perfect! Everyone is so nice which really adds to the experience. A Must See!

Hard to leave this place without tons of food in hand. Sweets treats such as fresh macaroons and cookies. Fresh meats, sausages, and jerky. Tons of amazing and colorful produce. Fish and other seafood. Grab a bit at the cafe or grab a hot dog at Johnās Hot Dog.
Take a moment to admire the building itself. Itās a beauty.

I canāt believe it took me so long to come here. I couldnāt believe how reasonably priced everything is. It is so much better than the North Market in Columbus. I had a great brawt for 4 bucks. We grabbed a pound of hummus, pita chips and some samosas for $13.00. We also really enjoyed the Italian bakeryās cannolis and the pizza stick we got. I just canāt get over how many local and affordable food options were there. I loved it and canāt wait to go back for a gyro

I purchased the best smoked ham ever from Sebastianās Meats! All through dinner there was nothing but compliments on the excellent ham. It made the meal a total success!

Great Shopping Experience! Really friendly knowledgeable people with wonderful products! Please note they are closed on Tuesday and a LOT of the stalls were not open on Monday either! So if you want all the stores open to browse, you might want to be here mid week. Still a great place!

Nice shopping experience for fresh foods. Historic building with lots of choices inside - shop around before buying anything! Plenty of parking nearby and inside is pretty busy on a Saturday early afternoon. Some good looking products - will most certainly visit again.

Make sure when vendor shows you fruits and veggies that are beautiful, they don't hurry up and stuff old rotten stuff in a bag. Double check everything. Pineapples and strawberries molded in one day. They are very pushy! Meats and cheeses are great. The booth with different hummus and cheeses were amazing. Just be careful of the lady selling fruits!!!

Visited on a Saturday morning. Shops included donuts, pastries, butchers, fish, pierogis, and many more. Wish the booths would have access to making food hot. Would have tried several more items. Are at the west end cafe and it was not very good. There was a long wait and the fish was over cooked and food was bland. Lots of produce and all very fresh. It was definitely a very cool place.

I enjoyed the West Side Market. It was my first time coming here. I was disappointed with the service at Greg's produce. I feel like the person who assisted me was not very friendly, did not appreciate my business and was dismissive. However, I noticed they were much friendlier toward their white customers...that's a problem. I would not visit this stand again.
However, I really enjoyed my visit to the Maple Valley Sugar stand. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I will definitely buy more from them in the future!

Unique food market with a variety. From the parking lot you walk into multiple vendors that sale fruits and vegetables. In fact, some of the fruit they I had I never even heard of. From there you walk outside into another building that has multiple vendors that sale beef, lamb, poultry, pork, seafood, etc.. Including hard to find items that the grocery stores do not even carry and the prices are pretty reasonable. They also have a deli area, multiple pastry/bakery items, ethnic foods (Mexican, Greek, German).
This market very similar to Seattle's Pike Place Market and Quincy Market in Boston.
You do have to pay for parking, but it is very reasonable.

So much food. Incredible amount of meats, sweets and breads. Cheapest fruits and vegetables i have seen in awhile. We were visiting so it made purchasing anything tough.

Some of the spots seem to have permanently closed during the pandemic. Hope this old market makes a big comeback. More & different seafood, meat, produce, & bakery choices would have been helpful. Needs some work on cleanliness & better access. Still, all in all, a nice place to visit.

This is the classic big city market with lots of stalls where you can buy all sorts of food products. Very old school. Not very big, a great place to shop for food. Parking is an issue.

We were impressed by the quality of the foods available at West Side Market. We managed great coffee and freshly filled Italian pastries during our visit. The building could use some sprucing up, but the vendors made this a great outing.

If I resided in Cleveland, this would DEFINITELY be a weekly trip. Offerings of raw & cooked meats, sweets, fish, vegetables, and other goods are outstanding. It's fun and has another country market experience. Go see and buy tasty offerings.

Go hungry or it's not as fun as it could be. The place is full of meat and sweets. The place can end up pretty busy, but the morning we went it was slow. Don't break your neck to visit. Not that big of a deal

We didn't know what to expect, but the market was amazing. I wished I had brought a cooler to bring food home. My husband was impressed by it and liked it too. Had a stromboli for lunch was excellent! Parking ended up being free so that was an added bonus!

Nice place too many Beef vendors selling the same thing. Pricey Beef cuts. Good deals on Ground chuck. Nice Selection of produce. Big turn off how they call you out walking buy there stand. Prices not that competitive. Good Seafood vendor.

We love coming here for the variety of vendors. I get cannolis for my friend, shark for his brother, loose leaf tea and jerky for me and Tyler gets the produce and baklava.

My grandparents were immigrants who used to market at the West Side Market in the 1930s. So when I visited Cleveland, I wanted to see the place where they used to shop. It is a grand old building built 100 years ago.
You can buy a variety of great ethnic food. I was on a quest for pierogi, and found 3 different vendors who offered them. There were all sorts of meats and an entire stall of fruit and vegetable vendors.
If you go to this grand old market:
1. Avoid Mondays! We went on a Monday and almost half of the vendors take that day off. We found plenty to buy, but we would have liked to have all the options.
2. Bring a cooler if you are from out of town. We found meat and bread not available where we live.
3. There is a restaurant inside, but otherwise, there is no where to sit and enjoy your food.

This is an iconic institution and so worth a visit. Even if you donāt want to eat, just the building and atmosphere is so much fun. Inside, I recommend t he spice booth and any of the bakeries. Outside, the produce isnāt always local, but is still excellent.

The West Side Market is a Cleveland landmark and is well worth a visit. It is a very large indoor market with every kind of treat you could want. There are bakery stands, chocolate stands, tons of every kind of fresh meat imaginable, sausage, steaks, seafood, cheese, gourmet pasta stands. Enjoy a slice of pizza or cup of gourmet coffee or a falafel as you walk around trying not to buy too much. The covered outdoor stands have tons of produce at good prices. Fruits of all kinds and veggies and its kind of a game wheeling and dealing on your produce with the vendors. A minute or two from downtown Cleve so stop here too if going to the Rock Hall, Science Center or casino. You will be glad you did.

There are a good variety of produce, but not a lot of organic options.
Inside there were a lot of dairy and meat options, but not a dedicated vegan stand.
There were no vegan cheeses.
We were able to find falafels and Middle Eastern stands that served vegan options. The bakeries have bread that suit vegans.
Overall it was a nice experience and vendors are very friendly. Parking is free for the first 90 minutes.

One of the nicest food markets in Ohio. Freindly vendors, and many choices make this a must to stop at .

My daughter and I visited on a quick drop into Cleveland. We are from Philadelphia and very familiar with the Reading Terminal Market there (which we love!). The West Side market is a gem and well worth a visit, especially if you love food. Lots of beautiful baked goods, international foods, really fresh meat and fish. We visited on a Saturday morning and parking was surprisingly easy in this urban area. Highly recommend!

Great market with a variety of vendors. Everyone is very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Great food and options. Highly recommend.

As a tourist just after the pandemic, this was a bit overwhelming on the weekend. It is one of the better markets I've been too with just about anything you'd want. I enjoyed Johnny Rockets dogs and the pizza bagel. We bought some unique, delicious cheeses and some of the popcorn. Produce, meat and fish vendor stalls looked great. I recommend going hungry and seeing what you find. Also, note there are two separate buildings and we actually started with the newer one. I'd go to the main building first.

It was ok but not as much fun as our other stops. Easy free parking. Lots of meat fruit and veggies. Lots of walking on uneven ground so not great for those with mobility issues. Probably a nice spot for locals to get fresh veg but not worth the trip for us. Very small nice upper floor balcony ā nice view from up there.

The gem of Cleveland! Such a fun experience. It's an overload of the senses. So many things to taste, smell and see!

Loved this food market! Great selection of meats, poultry, seafood, breads and desserts as well as fruits and veggies. Enjoyed this so much went back for a second visit.

Wonderful- Our guide was a wealth of information and she was able to answer all our questions. The tastings were so varied and plentiful. The food vendors were friendly and informative. The group was small 4 people so it was easy to hear and get around. We all enjoyed ourselves .

The Westside Market was a wonderful experience. The people were the most friendly Iāve encountered in a long time. This place was like an amusement park of food! Every single thing we bought, which was a sampling of quite a bit of what they had to offer, was EXCELLENT! My most favorite stall was Reillyās Irish Bakery. Their breakfast pies were, no joke, some of the best food I have ever eaten. Donāt miss the market!!!!

HOT. We love markets, so we wouldn't have missed this one, but boy, was it hot! Huge variety of items for sale. Meats, cheeses, fresh pasta, bakeries galore, perogies, spices, nuts, you name it!
Highly recommend the crepes-both savory & sweet! Very nice people and fun to watch being made, too.
Went up on balcony briefly for a pic, but too hot to stay up there. Everyone was very friendly, shop owners and fellow shoppers, except for a few folks with strollers clogging pathways...and if we lived there, it would be a regular stop for sure.
Also, parking was easy, not too pricey and close! Go, and enjoy!

I loved this place. So many choices of food. Different ethnic foods that all looked amazing. And the architecture is amazing. Will definitely be back

Never amazes me the choices in this market. Live 20 miles away, but, seem to get there almost every weekend. The meat is cut fresh and the bread is delivered fresh every morning that itās open.

We went and a Sunday and several of the shops in the market or closed... However there was also a festival going on downtown which may have caused them to close early. The different stores that were open in the market or unique with lots of selection.

After Market Garden we strolled around the West Side Market for about 30 minutes buying meat and cheese. It was good to see so many vendors open and prices so reasonable. This place is huge and in two buildings so it takes a while to get around. I used the restrooms and they were clean and well stocked. Parking is plentiful and the crowds very easy to navigate.

We enjoyed our first visit to the West Side Market today. As might be expected, though, given the season, there wasnāt a lot of produce variety and many of the produce stalls were empty. We had planned to eat at the restaurant, which was closed for remodeling. The quality and variety of meats, baked goods, and seafood seemed to be quite good.

Great market with a huge variety of vendors. Sad that there were a lot of empty stalls. You can find just about any meat imaginable here. They had a stand that specialized in bison and game meats called D.A. Russ. Usually you only find ground bison at stores, they actually had roast, steaks and ribs too. Would make the 2 hour trip just to buy more from them. The many decadent bakeries in the market are a big draw too! Can't forget the Asian stuffed chicken wings, delicious! And the roast beef pasty from The Irish vendor.

A historic Cleveland food market with vendors selling high quality meat, fish, produce, baked goods, etc. Prices seemed a bit high - but as tourists we were mainly admiring the place and not buying much. Very few cities in the U.S. have this large and varied a market in continuous operation as this one. Definitely a fun visit! There are also various restaurants in the immediate area.

This is such a must visit if you are in Cleveland, and if it's for a day, I recommend bringing a cooler with you so you can bring some stuff home! There are so many great prices, foods and meats to buy here and if nothing else, it's so cool to go around and look and see what everyone has to offer. Highly recommend coming here!

An excellent place to enjoy food, fresh meats, all kinds of vegetables, and other specialties play live by the local people. This is the type of place I love to visit to see whatever is going on in any given location.

Place was so warm couldnāt stay and enjoy it food smelled good but between the pushing patrons and heat it was unbearable , also if itās that hot how is the food staying fresh

You can get groceries or a meal at this market... or go outside and get a beer. Cool place if shopping, but not so much if youāre vegetarian. The building has great architecture, and you can climb the stairs to get this birds eye view of the entire operation.

Enjoyed the experience, mostly meat but looked and was priced great. Because we were visiting, we could not partake but I would highly recommend if you live in the area. The cannolli's were to die for!

This market is old school cool. This market has been open for 112 years today, that's astounding. It opened on November 2nd, 2012.
A bit disappointed to see any empty stalls in here though, that's surprising for sure.
The crepes at the deluxe is good, Le Roi for the sweet tooth.
Lots of tasty baked good and meats to pick from. The fruit seems to be in the outside smaller market center. Saw giant buckeyes and some Hungarian strudels too.
Some music playing on the balcony.

Great selection of ethnic foods. Nice people. Good butcher shops and bread shops. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Whether you are a long time resident in NE Ohio or just visiting, this market is worth checking out. Located on the near West Side of the city, they have just about any kind of food you can think of including some premade options. There's a place that serves Falafel, Gyro's, another one with Bratwurst. Plenty of bakeries, pierogi's, Mexican, all kinds of meats, veggies, fruits, and grains. Deserts and cheeses are well represented too. It's an architectural treasure that has been through a major restoration. Parking is located behind and around the market. It's in a neighborhood that has some other great restaurants, pubs, and eateries.

Amazing place with such a unique atmosphere and items for sale!
Bring cash and donāt go too hungry! I spent a days on the treadmill after my trip.

This is the closest thing I have seen here in the Midwest to European markets. The lay out is identical to the Buqueria in Barcelona. The place was packed on a Saturday. Vendors were friendly and many were offering free samples. The bathrooms were suprisingly well maintained for such a large public venue.

The West Side Market is a foodie experience off the beaten path in Cleveland. If you have the time and you enjoy the neat little places locals like to go then this place is for you. We left with a box of (hand made to order) cannolis.

Not sure what the big deal is about this place, maybe just the historic building and neighborhood. The fruits and vegetables are the same brands you buy at Kroger's,the difference is Kroger is less money. The bakery and the meats were better, but still overpriced.Living on old reputation.

Visited on a busy Saturday morning. Packed with people and fabulous looking meats and produce. There were many good bakery counters as well. Expensive though.

First of all the architecture for the building is gorgeous. But, all the different vendors make this place so cool to stroll through. You get a great idea of the cultures in Cleveland. Lots of local meats, cheeses and tons of yummy desserts. I wish I had not eaten before I went.

Must visit if you are in Ohio City. I think one of the best markets I have ever been to. Good meat selection and a lot of brewerys and restaraunt in the area.

The markets own parking is next to the market and is free for the first 90 minutes. This market seems to be frequented by locals buying the food-no souvenir shop in sight only butchers, bakers, fruit and veg, etc. I've been to lots of farmers markets, but nothing on the scale of the West Side Market. Make sure to visit the market gardeners in the adjoining hall. Beautiful produce. Locals should be able to get all they need to prepare a great meal. Seemed a little heavy on the meat vendors but a great selection nonetheless. You won't be disappointed even if you just visit for the experience.

We stopped here on a Sunday morning and most of the vendors were open. The one bakery was closed that I wanted to buy a Bishops Cake from, but found another. Wish I lived in the area, because there was so much fresh food!

Wish we had something like this back home in NJ. It is deceiving when you pull up but you pull up & park. Parking lot is cheap, think maybe $1 . First we walked through the Farmer's Market- so much produce both sides of the aisle. Then the real surprise was the other building ... It looked like a huge flea market with so many vendors displaying meats and I saw some of the most decadent desserts ! I'm gluten free so one vendor recommended WHITE FLOWER which was located toward the rear of the building. I was in heaven when I bit into the Gluten Free DREAM BAR.
OH - RESTROOMS ARE in the back, down a flight of stairs. (for anyone who has a disability)

Not a lot of activity on a winter Tuesday. We purchased some good fruit, pastryās and had lunch at the Market Cafe. Recommend the lunch.

We swing through the market with our daughter who lives nearby right before it closed so crowds weren't bad and we were able to grab some fruit and vegetables at a good price. I wouldn't want to tour the market as I'm not a cook but my husband is and he enjoyed seeing all of the various meats etc. Brewery style restaurants nearby...so fun market but would only go for half an hour or less.

The West Side Market in Cleveland Ohio is a long-standing community staple. I have fond memories of visiting the market as a child, with my grandmother. This is not an open market per se but they do have the doors open and the air flows through which gives the open feel. The small building has fruits and vegetable stands. The larger building has everything else from soup to nuts, even breakfast. Restaurants too (eat in or carry out). Plenty
of parking on the cheap. This is on the bus line too. Made a "quick" stop after work specifically for almond hummus but that turned into a longer stay. The almond hummus is delicious by the way. Sample anything and everything from fruits and vegetables to bread and desserts. You could have a 7 course meal from the aroma alone. Every stand has smiling, helpful employees. Lots of bargains to be had. Outdoor tables if you want to enjoy your food or drink on site. Take a cooler or a cart on wheels because its hard to stop at just one thing. Visit neighboring shops to complete the trip.

The market is on a down hill run MOSTLY due to the city of cleveland very sad. A lot of vendors have left Still some good places there But not as good as it was.

I keep saying this, on reviews lol, but had not been here in 30 plus years, the best parts were the main building where nothing has really changed. Still the same but we did notice they have lost some sellers, and we hope that changes. Nice to see them putting money into the outside of the Market and it's appearance. The selections, and variety and all is still great though we were there on a sunday early afternoon and it was a little slow it seemed on this day. But, great fun and got some great food.

The market is in a beautiful, historic building. We went on a Monday, which meant that some of the vendors weren't open. But we did find items to buy and sample. Recommend going if you're visiting Cleveland!

What a great market and a great historic building. Hubby and I stopped in to see what everyone was talking about and WOW. The fruit the meats and the bakery. Had fun walking or I should say eating our way through this public market. We stopped in the restaurant for a great breakfast.
Must see if you are in the area

great place to pick fruits, veggies, dinner, lunch, and sweets! great to walk around and look at all the vendors taste a few samples

Donāt bother to go on a Monday as there are very few vendors as Monday is optional for them. We were only in town on Monday so donāt know about other days. Most fruits were very ripe. I wouldnāt say there were any bargains.

.This place is a hub of activity you can buy food to cook and you buy food to eat. It has the best selection of fruit and veggies in the city. The deserts are awesome and beautiful. Had a corn beef sandwich there that was big enough to share.

Stopped in before lunch in Ohio City. I was surprised with all The bakeries and wonderful breads and baked goods. Everything looked fresh and appetizing and reasonable. The meat stands looked beautifully displayed and clean. If in the area itās worth a stop.

My family and I enjoyed browsing through the West Side Market. The place is clean and they are a variety of business to frequent. We scored a great deal on OX Tails....hmmmm...Best place to visit in Cleveland.

I visited the West Side Market after seeing it recommended on social media as a āmust-seeā spot in Cleveland. While I wouldnāt say itās a big tourist attraction on its own, it is a solid place to go if youāre staying nearby and want fresh, local food. There are plenty of produce stands, bakeries, meats, cheeses, and specialty items, and the quality is definitely better than what youāll find in a regular grocery store.
If youāre a visitor just looking to walk around for entertainment, it might feel a bit underwhelming. But if youāre staying at an Airbnb and want ingredients to cook or snack on during your trip, this is definitely worth the stop. The freshness and variety are the highlights.

Ist time and loved it! Went with family that had been before. If I lived closer, I would be there every weekend, but I'm from Indiana.

This is a great market for many foods and spices. It is in downtown Cleveland and offered other stores and places to see. I recommend it if you are visiting the Cleveland area.

Tons of little shops, perfect for foodies!!! The produce stands were in a separate building. We went Christmas Eve and it was busy but not terrible. At one point we got cannoliās and went up to the balcony to eat and people watch. There werenāt tables and chairs, it was more like a ledge. All the vendors we dealt with were super nice. There were several each of meat sellers and bakeries, but also a Mediterranean spot, an Asian spice and food stall, an olive bar, lots of choices. Glad we checked it out. We were there just over an hour. There is a big surface parking lot, free for first hour, $1.50 for each hour after.

We LOVE West Side Market! If we actually lived in Cleveland, it would be a weekly necessity. Where else can one get outstanding corned beef (and a myriad of other fine meat choices), fresh cream cheese, some of the best bread in the United States, and fresh, diverse produce all under two roofs? And that just scratches the surface of our favorites. For us, it wouldn't be Cleveland without West Side Market.

What's there to say about the WSM! basically grew up shopping there. If your looking for it they probably have it. Unfortunately it's kinda become a tourist destination and the city is doing absolutely nothing to listen to the vendors' suggestions to keep the place sustainable. If you get a chance to go, go before the city loses all the vendor's!

Unparalleled selection of terrific tasting cheeses. But their buttermilk when used in your homemade pancake recipe cannot be compared..their buttermilk makes a huge difference in the flavor.
Meisters stand is THE BEST in the entire market.
Kaufmannās Has Bell & Evans chicken breasts with no hormones which is more healthy & has a nice flavor.
Outside fruit & vegetable stand population has shrunk over the years. Still a good selection with little price fluctuation between vendors.
Kids have fun at bakery stand looking in the cases and choosing their own desserts.
Interesting place - be sure to bring a few sturdy canvas bags - their plastic bags hurt your arms if you walk around long... Fun & interesting.
NOTE: Some vendors only take cash, no credit cards.

This was an experience in itself. I mean any type of food (Meats, Cheeses, Pastries, Cookies, Cakes etc.) Even had food you could eat as you walked around the market.
If ever in the Cleveland area you need to check out West Side Market.

This place had so many things that didn't even know existed. If your in Cleveland you gotta go to this place.

Fun place to walk around. Lots of food to buy. We bought Italian food. We bought pastries. The building is old so itās nice to look at. Go up the stairs and you can overview the market and eat your food that you bought. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
Parking is done through using a phone app, but there is lots of parking and it is convenient.

There are other places to go for food shopping. Itās not whatās in the picture and itās not extraordinary market to be publicized

Trekked over to this market, located in the hipsterish neighborhood of Ohio City. Cleveland is a city of great ethnic diversity and it felt like they were all represented here. Produce, specialty items, crazy beautiful bakery, and lots of butchers with stuff you've never heard of. Bacon Bomb, anyone? Fun. Go hungry. Bring cash. Allow for two hours roaming the food halls with a bite to eat seems right. Pay parking on the street.

So much to browse.. for those of us who live far from a major city, this is a fun experience. If we lived closer weād shop here regularly. Enjoyed the opportunity to taste before buying.

We visited on a Sunday when, unfortunately, several vendors were closed for the day. It's still a very nice market with plenty of options ranging from produce to meats and cheeses. It's in a beautiful building and an active part of town.

Being from central FL, I was happy to come across such a unique market. Not only the variety of vendors, but the whole atmosphere. The building is historical and absolutely beautiful. When I walked in my mouth dropped. I couldn't wait to go up the stairs to the "lookout" area. I could have stared out at that view all day. Just fantastic!

Fresh fruit and vegetables on one side with meaty delectables, cheesy awesomeness and crumbly sweet sweets on the other. I walked in and waddled out. Amazing produce at a reasonable price.

I love markets and have been fortunate to visit them all around the world. This market has it all! I was impressed with the variety of vendors ranging from fresh produce to decadent desserts and tempting prepared foods. I especially loved the ethnic offerings. We enjoyed a savory crepe and delish coffee for breakfast. I picked up dehydrated fruits and veggies and homemade pitas and hummus for my journey. The historic building is beautifully restored and the Ohio City neighborhood is worth exploring. We topped off our morning with a beer tasting with a stop at the Market Garden Brewery. If you love food this is a must do while in Cleveland.

We visited on Sunday. It was very busy with lots of stands to visit. Inside had a lot of good looking food, but mostly was looking a produce. Was not impressed. Expensive prices for the same products as the supermarket. The inside booths on the other hand had wonderful looking food, just not in the market to buy on our visit. Heading home to Cincinnati afterwards, so not looking to take a lot of food home.

If you're in the neighborhood, it is worth seeing the landmark West Side Market. It is a cavernous building bustling with shoppers and shopkeepers. You'll find everything from fresh meats and cheeses to bread, pastries and of course fresh fruits and vegetables. This place has old fashioned charm and personality.

West Side market is like many historic markets weāve been too. There are all kinds of vendors from meats, cheeses, spices, fish, hand made pasta, and so much more. The prices are about what you would expect to pay for this type of venue. Most things are under 10.00 but I highly recommend you bring cash. Most of the vendors have a 10.00 minimum for using a card. Itās free to enter. When we go again we will take a cooler with us so that we can buy some of the items that need to be refrigerated. The market district as a whole is pretty cool. There is paid parking close by or free parking a few blocks away off of 25th. Enjoy!

I have been going to the market for most of my 56 years here on earth. It is a beautiful and historic facility in Ohio City, an area of downtown Cleveland. You can find most any meat, seafood, pastry, bread and many different ethnic foods here. They have revamped the parking and there is now a parking fee. However, there are spots available on the street if you get lucky enough.
The area surrounding the Market is eclectic with bars, restaurants, Great Lakes Brewery, shops and more. Access to downtown is a short drive(or a bit longer walk) across the bridge.
I recommend the Market to anyone interested in food, culture and history.

Iāve been to quite a few markets around the world and this one is near the top. Itās a melting pot of ethnicity. So many venders wanting you to sample their products.
Whether itās meats, seafood, pastries, baked goods, sauces, spices, fruits, they have it all.
Thereās never a time that Iām introduced to something new. This time it was hummus, not made with chickpeas but rather almondsā¦in terms of texture taste you could not tell the difference. It was excellent.
I no longer live in the Cleveland area and was in town visiting. Looking at the various unique meats it bummed me out that it wasnāt conducive to buying them at this time as I have no kitchen in the hotel.

Such history here! We love looking at history and old architecture. Always looking for supporting local businesses, and this does both. A must visit for anyone visiting Cleveland.

This market has been held for decades and is still thriving. Fresh vegetables, deli meats and sweet treats are just a sample of what you can buy.

Cool to see all of the meats and bakery items. Parking was free for the first 90 minutes, and we enjoyed walking through and then buying a sweet treat from the bakery.

Such an interesting experience! A great place for fresh produce at amazing prices. Lots of unique items to choose from.

We managed to make it over in the late afternoon on a Saturday, but it was still a cool place to visit, so much variety to what was offered and so colorful. We bought several food items and enjoyed the place. There is a parking lot that is connected and there is a fee, but it was free when we got there.

I love coming here and I really hope the shops here can afford to stay open. It is one of the most amazing historical places in Cleveland and there are so few of these food markets still around in the US. Please come and support the local shops.

We go to the market ever time we are in town. The choices are great and fresh. The local meat selections are sometimes worth stopping for. Produce is always fresh and good price. Fun shopping

What a wonderful place to grocery shop! You can find fresh anything you could possibly want in this market. We had free parking in the lot right outside - but we visited on a weekend. I do not know if there is a cost for during the week.

We came here fairly early on the weekend and it wasn't too crowded yet. They have a parking lot that is free for a few hours, then you have to pay. This place is huge--has everything from baked goods to meat (kosher too!) to tea and coffee. We walked around a few times to make sure we didn't miss anything.
The selection of produce is awesome. Just next to the market (outside) were some vendors selling t-shirts, dog collars, jewelry, etc. I would definitely come here again. My daughter lives in Cleveland and comes here quite often! Prices are great!

Unfortunately, our flight did not let us get into town until after the market had closed. However, we passed it several times while seeing sights in the Ohio City area. The tower is under construction

Nice market but can get very crowded and parking can be difficult. I suggest picking a few items to make into a picnic.

The market is an awesome place to find fresh meats, cheeses, bakery items and so much more. It is a must see anytime you are in Cleveland!

Went here with a friend to check it out. Great looking food and friendly vendors. We just had a few snacks at the bakery. Great place for anyone hungry.

The West Side Market has beautiful architecture and is in a wonderful area of Cleveland. The market has tons of bakery items and lots and lots of meat. If you are a vegan/vegetarian, this market might be tough for you as meat was everywhere. I even saw a guy push a dead pig on a cart (will never unsee that).

Don't believe any of the rot out there about West Side Market's glory days being done, or about it being a ghost town. We went on a Friday morning, and while there were a few empty spaces most of the vendors were there, along with lots of customers. It was fabulous: you can buy some of the best butcher meat, deli meat, cheese, fish, and pastries anywhere in the city, and you can wander around inside of a gorgeous 100-year old building. Also, there is some really fantastic produce in the space outside of the building if you take the time to look. Yes, the shopkeepers are a little pushy, but all you have to say is "no thanks" if you don't want a sample. The parking is free for the first 90 mins. Go and soak it all in. It's a unique gem of a place. I never miss it when I'm in the Cleveland area.

Fun place to visit, just wish they had more places to actually eat. Very crowded but that is to be expected. Great place if you live locally to buy meats and produce or course they so sell cold bags so you can take things home.

This market is amazing. Go thru the produce section to the building with everything! The sausage sandwich was amazing from Franks. I wish we had stopped sooner instead of our last day. Be prepared to cook in your Airbnb or I flew home with an elk burger on ice.

We visited West Side Market around 8:45 am on a Wednesday to buy food for breakfast and for lunch at the nearby national park. We parked for free (up to 90 minutes) right next to the market. There were many booths, including Italian, Indian, Greek, Jewish, and American delicacies--fresh meat, deli meat and cheese, speciality cheeses, fruits and vegetables (some locally grown and some not), breads galore, and sweet and savory desserts and other baked goods. It was hard to choose!! There is also a Middle Eastern shop with all sorts of goods and spices. If we lived nearby, I would be a regular for meat and other goods.

The West Side Farmers Market is located at Lorain Avenue and West 24th Street, Cleveland, across the street from the W25 Ohio City Metro Station. Very impressive and huge. There is a farmerās market on the outdoor part of the market. Indoor part is a series of stalls of everything imaginable, meats to cheeses to bakeries to ethnic goods to prepared foods. The Market is definitely worth a visit, and be sure to enjoy the local specialties. You wonāt be disappointed. Some stalls accept credit cards, others only cash. Check website for details, but believe the market is closed on Mondays. A parking lot is off West 24th Street and there is a fee. Would definitely visit again when in Cleveland. Recommend.

Place was dirty. Aisles narrow. Booths un-inviting But most disappointing, wares being offered were less than inviting. No seating except for a wall shelf on the upper floor. What a bust.

We stopped here before our long drive back to Des Moines. Parking is easy and cheap. Plenty of vendors to purchase stuff from. All the vendors we bought from were super nice and knowledgeable about there products. We got coffee, ate some crepes ( kids had basic sweet crepe and I got a savory one le chevere (I canāt spell lol) we got some baked goods, some pastys and plenty of meat sticks and jerky. I wish we had a market like this in Des Moines. Definitely a place to check out.

Historical building with a plenty of vendors selling mainly meats and seafood, sweets, breads, pastas and plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits of all kinds. We ate at the diner for breakfast which was tasty. Didnāt find a good place to sit and eat our treats: macaroons and a cheese danish.

Besides the historical view, the tradition and the diverse products, there is delicious options on the german, greek, irish, mexican and merican cook and bakery traditions,

Received refund. It took a while but I am happy to report. We did buy food while we were there and everything was great. I actually found Brick cheese there. It tastes good in quesadillas,

Our 1st trip was a lot of fun. The variety of shops was interesting. The selection and variety of meats, cheeses, pastries will make a decision difficult to pick what to get. We like the oasis booth that sold different varieties of hummus. Cotton candy grapes, yep that is a thing and they are there too. Parking was the only negative.

Even if you're in town visiting, it's still worth a trip. Grab some jerky at Czuchraj or a gyro from the Gyro Lady and enjoy.

Heard about this area before we got to Cleveland. Place closes up shop early. 6pm on a Monday night. Not what I expected. Did get to see the inside of the marketplace & how it might look when things are openāwould never go back. Outside of the marketplaceāarea very sketchy and unsafe to walk at night. Go in daytime if you must go. Beggars & homeless people all over this area.
Skip the place. Most cities have better Farmers Markets that are better than this so called iconic place in Cleveland.

We always go to the West Side Market when we are in Cleveland, but it is starting to become more of a giant eagle to us. Prices are crazy and the products are not what they used to be.

Bring your cash and your cooler, because this is truly the best place to visit. Thereās fresh veggies, meats, desserts, bread, spices, sauces, cheese, whatever. We plan our meals based on what we buy here. You have to pay for parking, but the first hour is free and itās pretty cheap after that.

Lots of vendors. Lots of variety. Everything we got was good. Prices were good. Produce was very nice.

Not bad, but have seen better, and we hit it late in the day without any food vendors. Very close to where we stayed, so we stopped by.

The cafe wasn't anything special. The market is certainly a place I'd shop if I were local! Fresh everything!! The architecture is beautiful. I compare the market to Pikes Place in Seattle (without the throwing fishš¤£)

We love to go to food markets, like Pike Place Market in Seattle and Reading Market in Philadelphia. The Westside market falls woefully short in comparison. We were looking at baked goods, sweets and other foods that could be transported home. The pastries we tried were huge but tasteless. The pizza bagel tasted like a tomato sponge. The buckeye candy was OKānot exciting. There were very few prepared foods.

Unique place to visit. Lot of produce and different meats. The gyros at Steve's are awesome. Great place to stock up.

Keep in mind they are closed tues thurs sun. We stopped mid afternoon on a Monday several vendors choose to not open. Thus I could not buy lamb. We had good experiences at the open vendors. Ate lunch at the west side cafe servers were fun and on top of it. Had a couple beers walleye sandwich and some perogies. We brought some coolers for cured meats and humus. The produce guys come down in price and do a lot of bundling as the closer it gets to closing. Parking is free for first 90 minutes in the lot. If you look around you can find street parking too the ticket gates are annoying took many tries to pay.

Great selection of meat cheese and he biggest apple fritters Iāve ever seen!
Like a lot of markets most of fruit and veg seemed to be supermarket goods

Just walking around the market is a joy and a fun way to spend a Sunday. We bought some produce. There was a lot available. Meter parking was free on Sunday, but they also have their own parking lot which is free for the first 90 minutes. Seems like it is back in full swing.

Friends told us we needed to go to the Westside Market while in Cleveland and we did. We were surrounded by bakeries and meat of all kinds, spices, fruits and vegies. The selection was glorious. Since this is only 1 1/2 hours from us - we intend to just drive over sometime with a cooler and get some stuff and bring it back home. While we were on vacation we could only buy a few things since we really couldn't store it anywhere. Thank goodness our hotel room had a fridge!

An underrated gem in Cleveland, at least in my opinion. At first glance of this city, you wouldn't be expecting to find this here! There is so much variety of stuff to buy here, and the prices are generally pretty cheap. Lots of great food and drinks, and the fresh fruit they sell here is also of high quality. It is quite crowded here, but that's what you'd expect out of a market like this place, yet the crowds do not feel overwhelming like what you may feel in Chicago, Toronto or NYC. Parking is also FREE for the first 90 minutes you park in the parking lot for the market as long as it is between 6am and 6pm. I have stopped by here every time I come to Cleveland for any reason and fully intend on coming back whenever I'm around again. Nice job, West Side Market!

This market reminds me of the old town Italian markets in my hometown. The food is fresh and the vendors are very keen on recommendations and tips to cook/serve their wares. We keep coming back! It is a must do experience for all ages.

This market is much smaller than it appears in photos and some of the bakery vendors have identical offerings, which makes me think it might not be scratch made. However, everything I got was good and there was a very large variety of meat and seafood available, as well as some prepared foods. I wasn't impressed by the cafe.

I found this place to be a bit disgusting. It was so dirty and not worth it. Nothing like the nice photos. Not as many shops as I expected, most selling meats. I saw one place selling empanadas and mexican food that looked great but didn't try anything as the vibes of the whole place were grimy. I went in sometime before noon and felt eyed and a bit unsafe, traveling solo. I would give this place one more chance if I were with a friend but would not come here again by myself.

If you have even an hour of time, please take the time to walk through the west side market. The Ohio City Pasta is fantastic. The Campbellās cupcakes are delicious. I look forward to when I can go back!

Conveniently located with plenty options for lunch and dinner; however, the highlight is the wine selection. Recommend if you enjoy markets!

You have to stop at Frankās Bratwurst and order it Cleveland style (hard roll, horseradish, brown mustard and sauerkraut)!

Great place year round!! You have a wide variety of items that you can to eat while you walk and or buy to take home and enjoy later. You can grab a sandwich, something to drink, some pastries, and just walk around and enjoy the smells and ambiance of the market. I love to go there!!!

The extensive offerings of meats, baked goods and more make this a must visit experience. This is a marketplace from a bygone era, and it really is amazing. The line at Steveās Gyros is long, but worth the wait. The neighborhood around the market has really come on strong as a great place for dining, cocktails, and people watching. Loving Cleveland!

The West Side Market in Cleveland, Ohio is such a gem! Itās one of those places that truly captures the local spirit full of history, energy, and incredible food. The building itself is beautiful, and walking through the market feels like stepping into a local tradition thatās been kept alive for generations.
Thereās an amazing variety of vendors fresh produce, meats, cheeses, pastries, and food from all over the world.
Everything looks and smells so good itās hard to choose! I especially loved trying some local specialties and chatting with the friendly vendors who clearly take pride in what they do.

Our visit to Cleveland is never complete without going to the West Side Market. Fresh fruits, breads and pastries, meats, cheeses and more are sold by local vendors. Limited business hours so check before you go.

Fresh fruit and vegetables at great prices. My husband and I really enjoyed sampling all the different fruits. So many different varieties you cant get a at regular grocery store. We also enjoyed walking around inside visiting each vendor.

If you are looking for fresh produce, meats, poultry, or bakery items from breads to macaroons to tiramisu to honey ⦠this is the place to go. Bring a cooler. Visit early. Donāt buy at the first place you pass. Check out the various vendors and then buy. Lots of options. Not necessarily the place you go to eat lunch. More of a place to go to get your ingredients to make lunch and dinner.

I buy honey, brats, falafel, smokies, pierogis, and a loaf o bread every time I come here. All the vendors here reflect Cleveland nicely. I could spend hours just walking around, looking at the stalls, and looking at them again, then taking a gander at the beautiful architecture of the building. A visit to Cleveland is not a visit without stopping by the Market.

Stopped by to wander around and see the sights. Busy place with lots of going on. Good for you people watching.

They have fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, pastry, breads, Middle Eastern foods in an indoor market that is very crowded and exciting. There is live music up on the loft and a great place to take photos of the entire market. Prices are a bit high, but the quality is very good. This is a must place to visit when in Cleveland. Be aware that there are no tables to sit at and eat.

Totally enjoyed the atmosphere - and out of the cold. Good variety with a lot of buzz going on. I'll be back

Food lovers will really enjoy it here. Very interesting meats and the dessert makers were unbelievable! If we didnāt have to drive so far to get home, I could have loaded my trunk with so many goodies.

There was a line to get in due to social distancing. You get free parking for the first 60-90min. Bring a cooler to store fresh raw meat. Donāt be on a diet when you come here because thereās MANY delicious looking desserts to choose from.

A bit overwhelming but an awesome experience.
(we were hungry - LOL!) Wish we would have had more time but the small sample was amazing! Best non traditional cannoli ever. It was rolled in carmel and nuts. Not even sure who baker was-sorry...A MUST SEE ATTRACTION.

I love coming here. I am from Atlanta and we donāt have anything like this. You donāt have to buy anything, but I bet you end up buying something! A must see

What an absolutely fabulous destination for locals and tourists! Took some from-way-out-off-town pals here and we all immediately fell in love. I understand the hype nowāit was an interactive foodie experience (much needed human interaction as well as we ā hopefully ā boogie beyond the pandemic.)
We arrived about 2 hours prior to close and snagged some incredible deals. Every vendor I interacted with was fantastic: genuine and funny, smart and engaging. My next stop here? I want to arrive right when the market opens.
Easy peasy parking ā and also within walking distance of a main drag in Ohio Cityāso we walked and found a bookstore and fell in love with that, too.
I wanted to impress the pals/business associates ā and the West Side Market worked perfectly!
Highly recommended!

In town for a concert and spent an hour or so walking around here after lunch. The market is in a really cool area. Lots of great food to buy at the market.

The purpose of our trip was to take our 10 year old grandson to a Guardians baseball game. We were only there for three days but loved our first time in Cleveland. The city was beautiful, clean and friendly. Weād love to go back again one day.

This place is GREAT!! but don't go hungry, you'll want to spend the mortgage money on the treats here. Similar of the Reading Market in Philly, a bit smaller scale but just as impressive and mouth-watering..start with abundant, local produce, fresh and varied, and then inside the main hall for EVERYTHING you can imagine. A selection of meats, cheeses, jams, baked goods, most anything you can think of is here for your eating pleasure. I would love to come here weekly and do my food shopping.

This is a must visit for anyone touring or visiting from out of town, or locals looking for something unique to do. The entire area surrounding the market has so much to do including unique coffee shops, wine bars, breweries so you can make the entire day super-fun surrounding visiting the market. Historic building, ethnic foods from around the world, You literally can find any kind of specialty food or ingredient or spice on the entire map there. The restaurant there is super fun to sit down for brunch or lunch, and thereās plenty of hot food options if you want to snack at the market as well. Highly recommend the bratwurst stand, the Gyro stand, the hotdog stands. Kids and adults of all ages will enjoy their visit as thereās so much to offer inside and outside of the Westside market.

The West Side Market is one of my favorite places in Cleveland. There are so many amazing food choices, from meats to fresh pasta, bakery, ethnic foods, seafood and a huge produce selection. Go early to avoid the crowds, and plan to spend a couple of hours so you can see everything.

The West Side Market was good exposure for my daughter and her friend (ages 15 and 17).
They were able to try some new foods and buy a couple small items for themselves. One of the teenagers tried a new fruit and one tried a new Spanish food. I would not suggest that teen drivers drive down alone due to traffic patterns, construction, and parking. We all had fun. It was a fun outing on a day they had off from school.

A typical big city market place. Lots of produce at reasonable prices. Meats and cheese and bakery items. Herbs, spices, nuts, coffees. A fun place to stroll and shop for food. I expected more gift shops...We enjoyed it.

We've never been to a market like this ever before. There are only 4 in the US & this one is the largest in the country. They have any type of you can imagine. And there are all types of desserts you can imagine We wish we had a cooler to purchase the different foods they had. If you couldn't find it there you couldn't find it anywhere. Well worth going. We spent 2 hours there.

The neighborhood is super cool, and the market offers lots of goodies to eat while strolling. It was a very pleasant afternoon

A great marketplace with fresh fruit, all kinds of meat products and pastries from many different cultures.

Number one tip I always reccomend is getting to this place early. Parking is not good around Ohio City and the lot fills up quickly plus backs up with people trying to get out. If you go early you will also have less than a 15 minute wait at Steve's Gyro. If you go later in the day the vendors for fruit and vegetables will negotiate a lot more than they will in the AM. Never let them pick the produce for you, always look at what you are buying.

Itās a typical urban market housed in a well reconstructed building. The decorated very ceilings were truly impressive. Except for produce that are housed in a separate building, the main building is populated with a hodgepodge of vendors without categorization making it a challenge to compare products on sale. Missing were seafood variety...What caught my eye was Jacobās Mediterranean that the fees a wide variety of hummus, the novelty was the hot spicy one ā terrific for falafel and dip for fresh veggies.

This place is so much fun! There is always something new to try here and we always enjoy coming every time we are in town! Best market in the state!

Out of all the markets i have visited, this one by far was the prettiest. For some reason a lot of the display cases were decorated with flowers snd pretty colors. The meat and poultry in all cases looked so fresh, you just wanted to buy everyrhing. Lots of pastries, specialty food, meat and poultry. The tenders are so lovely, and smile a lot.... We must have spent over 2 hours . Parking is available on site

If youāre looking for a fun afternoon shopping fresh fruits, meats, breads and many other ethnic foods this is the place. Add to that the other fun restaurants and shops on West 25th Street makes for a very fun afternoon.

This is a beautiful building just across from downtown and is a must see. This building is filled with vendor of all kinds with so much delicious food.

We read reviews aboyhow great this place was, but our experience was not good. Mostly a grocery related market: fresh meat, bakery, etc. Not many prepared foods, the only hot cooked food was dogs/ sausages or gyros (which were on hold, would have to wait a while for them to be cooked, a minimum of maybe 15 minutes or more, and this was at lunchtime and didn't include the wait in line). The brewery next door was great. We enjoyed the beer and it looked like people were enjoying the food.

Beware of substitutions!
It is standard for many vendors to ask what you'd like and to then give you a substitute from behind the counter. You point to something on the counter, they nod, and then (out of sight) bring out something else entirely and put it in a bag. I have stopped buying produce there, because I've been scammed too many times.

A lot of empty vendor spaces in the Market and the Produce Hall. So far our favorites are still open. Looking forward to our next trip in December and Christmas decorations and Goodies.

Just possibly the worst hamburger and fries I ever had. Frozen burger patty and standard frozen fries. The people were very nice. I guess thatās because they got 12 dollars for it, which in itself is ludicrous.

I've been going here since I was a kid, and boy has it changed! Inspired by the Grand Market Hall in Budapest, the architecture is beautiful; as are the selection of Eastern European smoked meats - and meats in general. The produce is also gorgeous - and they seem to stock 'exotic' items at times too. I always buy a bunch of smokies to bring back to LA with me. Our favorite breakfast are the crepes and my dad will forever love the sausage sandwiches from Frank's! There has been some turn-over in the past couple years, and the newer places seem legit. Still haven't tried the pizza bagels. Maybe next time?

This market offers old world foods and a fabulous variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, and cheeses. It is surrounded by new restaurants and a brewery. Great place to visit on the weekend.

this is a great place to go for fruits, meats, desserts, a little old fashioned restaurant , the aisles go on and on with evrything looking desirable, how do they keep all this stuff fresh ? doesn't seem like enough people are coming through shopping to turn over the available foods. easy free parking for i believe 90 minutes, even cheap if u go beyond.

A carnivore's dream. Dozens of purveyors with sausages, roasts, ribs as well as bakeries and various ethnic foods. Several long aisles of fruits and vegetables including rarely seen items...think rambutans and other tropical fruits.

Just an amazing place. Too bad we don't live near enogh to enjoy all the fresh meats, deserts, fruits, flowers etc to bring home

Not sure what all the hype is about. It might be nice for locals looking to buy fresh meat and produce, but there werenāt many ready to eat meal options for tourists. It could be good if youāre just looking for a snack like a pastry and coffee. It was really crowded when we were there on the weekend and it didnāt look as nice as the photos. It has a similar feel to the Reading terminal market in Philadelphia, but without as many meal options or places to sit.

Wish we ived closer so much great food and produce lot is free for first 90 minutes then only a dollar for the next hour credit card for lot bring cash for vendors.

West Side Market appears to be a nice place. Go there early for the best selections. Unfortunately, we arrived late. 99 percent of the vendors had already packed up and left for the day. Did pick up a few bakery goods, but that was it. Would enjoy coming back to West Side Market in the future.

There is soo much here we have to keep coming back to try more. The foods we have found here so far a all of great quality and flavor. You should go at least once.

So many options here! The market has free parking for 90 minutes or less. There are many fantastic fruit and vegetable vendors, ethnic cuisine stalls, fresh meats, breads, and so many dessert stalls! We visited later in the day, when some vendors were offering deals or packing up. Parking was plentiful too. If you're staying in the area, make a stop before preparing dinner!

Make your eyes, ears, nose, and tongue happy. Easy to spend an hour shopping here and when your done plenty of microbrew pubs within walking distance.

Definitely need to be prepared to spend some time in this market. Also, make sure you have a cooler ready if you plan to buy meats and cheeses to bring home with you. Tons of variety and different ethnic foods.
.

Worth the visit! Fresh and delicious fruits, vegetables, meats, prepared foods, restaurants, and bakeries. The building is gorgeous and the nearby parking abundant and cheap!

We walked past pristine fruits & vegetables into the market. Stands had pastries, breads, fresh pastas, olives, cheeses, spices, seafood, raw meats & poultry⦠presented beautifully. We saw Mexican, Greek, Polish, Italian, Middle Eastern ā¦. Foods.

If you are in Cleveland, you should visit the market. There are many great stalls with fresh food such as sausage, cheese, bread (freshly baked) etc. Many conditions with delicious cakes, cookies.... Freshly made pasta and other dishes. But what you are looking for in vain is fresh fruit and vegetables.

Pretty neat experience. The variety of food and treats is awesome. Want fresh meat? They have it! Want fresh fish? They have it! Hotdogs? Yep those too. Heck they even have cakes, pastries, breads, you name it.

We were on vacation in Cleveland and stopped here for a late lunch on our way back from the zoo. Very few places to eat, but the many food stalls had tasty looking ingredients if you were going to cook it yourself. Reminded me of Soulard market in St Louis. As a tourist I would skip this place

We were amazed by the West Side Market. We have markets in Pa but this one in Ohio had large amounts of large loaves of bread and lists of fish.
We ate at the restaurant that is in the market, the food was good and the staff were so helpful and friendly!

Beautiful building with a vast assortment of shops - meats, pastries, cheeses. A very fun way to shop for food. Metered parking along the street.

What a great place to buy fresh veggies. The selections are beautifully displayed, the vendors are very helpful, and the prices are good. One suggestion, have a few recipes in mind before you go so you can actually target your purchases. The meats and cheeses are also excellent. We had habanero cheddar for the first time - a real find if you like hot, spicy food. Have to mention the bakeries - wow, the selections are overwhelming and the aroma of freshly baked bread draws you in and almost compels you to buy a loaf.
Just some practical information- parking was fairly easy as there is an adjacent lot. The aisles in the market are crowded but people are polite and make room to ensure access. Each stand is well staffed so you are waited on almost immediately. Some vendors even gave free samples!
This was our first trip to the West Side Market. It sure wonāt be our last.

The market has a huge selection of produce, meats, spices, desserts, and more.
We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was so packed we could hardly walk through the place.
There are lots of other places near by like breweries, restaurants, and shops.

This is an excellent market to just wonder around. Itās always busy when Iām there but the venders are friendly and proud to talk about their offerings. The main building is butchers bakers and prepared foods. Be sure to check out the side building for fresh fruits and vegetables.

Wish I was local⦠This place was amazing. We bought fresh fruit, mini cakes and cheese and ate on the bench outside. Everyone was nice and downtown felt safe.

This is a must see when visiting Cleveland! Fresh meats, bakery items, coffee, pasta , produce. It is awesome!

Such a fun stop while in cleveland. Wonderful vendors, fabulous food and friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth a trip! Reminded us of the market in Madrid, Spain šŖšø

Busted on a Monday, a number of vendors were closed, but it was still a fun āfoodieā experience.
Found a delicious artichoke and garlic hummus, a fresh made whole grain bread that was moist and had great texture, and our personal favorite- authentic Lebanon bologna. The array of beautiful pastries was impressive.
A definite must when in Cleveland.

I like visiting markets wherever I travel as you feel the local atmosphere. Also I never eat before visiting as I like to try local products.
Therefore we came here around lunch time. Plenty of meat, vegetables etc..., mostly to buy fresh to prepare at home.
We managed to find good sausages at food stalls for our quick lunch which were just great.

Very nice market. LOTS of butcher meat options. Several other nice dessert and food options. Short on hot food options, but cold or chilled options a plenty. Next door there were excellent fruit and vegetable options.

Amazing place with a old school vibe. Amazing products and food all around, visiting from FL, we donāt have many places like this down south, definitely a must see and try the perogies in the market cafe!

Fun place to visit for breakfast. Small dining room, but the pastries, meats, cheeses, and such look amazing. Check dates and times before visiting.

A National Register of Historic Places member, Cleveland's West Side Market is one of only a handful of markets in the USA under continuous operation for more than 100 years. A visit is like stepping back in time with more than 100 Euro-centric meat, cheese, fish, and bakery stalls filled to the brim. It's busy, so get there early and be sure to chomp on a bratwurst from Frank's while you shop.

If you're in the neighborhood, it's worth a stop, but if you're staying at a hotel in the Eastern suburbs or at University Circle, it's not really worth the drive over.
I know that many people love the place, and that's fine, but "the Market" is not what it used to be. The prices today are quite high for Cleveland. The produce at the stands outside is often below average- sometime they give you rotten fruit hidden at the bottom of your bag. Not worth it. Giant Eagle has better produce than the West Side Market. As for the inside- there are not as many vendors as there used to be. Today, most vendors are selling ready-to-eat/prepared foods or baked goods. In the not too distant past, the food was mostly fresh- butcher stalls, seafood, and the like. With a few sandwich stands. I was not impressed by the quality of the baked items I purchased. Most of the old-time butchers are gone. It's very crowded some days, which can add to the appeal. But when business is slow, the place looks like a ghost town- not inviting. Parking used to be free, but now the city charges for longer stays.
As for comments about the homeless, well, Ohio City is a neighborhood populated by regular working people and many young professionals who are "gentrifying" the place. So there is a true mix of people in the neighborhood. Yes, there are quite a few homeless persons around, as social service agencies are located at different spots on West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue. Many people in the neighborhood and especially in adjacent neighborhoods are low-income. Cleveland is a real city, after all. It's not an amusement park. There are homeless and panhandlers in every American city, including Atlanta. So, there you go.
There is not the slightest danger in visiting the Market. The Market does close early, but then, not many customers would be shopping here at night. The restaurants, microbreweries, and bars attract crowds at night, so it is safe to visit the businesses at Market Square after dark. Just use common sense, like you would in any city.

This is one of our favorite stops in Cleveland. If youāre planning on coming here, definitely bring a cooler because thereās anything from veggies, meats, pastries, breads, candy, etc. It was super busy on Saturday afternoon, but still tolerable for us. Definitely worth a stop!

It is a big market with many people working there, many kinds of food are available, includes Chinese food! But people there donāt wear masks.

A nice market for fresh fruits and vegetables. Clean and good prices. We thought that it would have more and be bigger. Parking was convenient and free for the first 90 minutes.

I read great reviews of the market here but after traveling all over the world and country I was disappointed. The fruit area was nice and reasonably priced but I didn't like being cat called to buy from people and I found that since there is repetitive stuff it was hard to choose a vendor. The desserts were over priced and my kids didn't even end up liking their picks. Overall it wasn't a great experience for us.

There is a GREAT middle eastern stand called Jacobās Oasis in the south west corner. Rileyās Irish bakery is another stand that I like. The Pierogie Palace is a good stand.

Lots of places to check out. Many diverse stands with lots to offer. Most stands are raw materials to make meals but the stands with hot food were amazing. Out of all the options you definitely need to check out Theresa's for a sweet treat.

Cool old building with a lot of cool food vendors. If you are a foodie or want to soak up the local scene this is the place.

A must for anyone traveling to Cleveland, spend many years shopping here with my children. Try smokies, macaroons, gyro and many more items.

We enjoyed our visit. They have one building with baked goods, meats, fish, and cheese. And a separate building with fresh vegetables and fruits. Free parking available nearby up to 90 minutes I believe. Worth the visit, even just to look around.

This was a great market. We were also in Seattle this year at Pikes Place so even coming from there I would recommend walking through the West Side Market. There are a few places you could grab a bagel sandwich or a gyro or some hummus if you arenāt staying long enough to cook meat or need fruit and veggies. Quite a few awesome places for bread and other baked goods too.

Great variety, good service clean place. Reasonable parking is available. Shopping in the area provides a nice variety of shops and dining.

I grew up nearby and remember my mom going to the market for fresh meats and produce. Every time I go home, I have to stop to refresh my spices and meats. The cheese stand is amazing and all of the vendors are so pleasant and engaging. Truly a melting pot with some of the very best that Cleveland has to offer!

This market is in a historic building. Nice selections and nice prices. Parking lot behind building with plenty of parking.

Everybody was SUPER friendly. My mother and brother and I used to there weekly when I was little. Although the vendors change the place is still G-R-E-A-T!

Wow, this is quite a terrific market which dates back to 1912. It is definitely a treat for young and old, and no doubt anyone can find something appealing to them here for it affords a tremendous selection.

It was a beautiful day in Frankenmuth, Michigan. The riverboat tour was relaxing and informative. A nice break from hustle and bustle of shopping. And the best part is that the company is family-owned and family-operated.

I have shopped here for years but not as much this year. So many businesses have left. If you are visiting, it's still a good place to visit. The market has been here for over 100 years. Just wish you could have seen it in its hayday

My family and I really enjoyed this market! We went on a Friday during lunch time and selected some delicious sausage sandwiches, buckeyes, slices of chocolate cake, and fresh fruits to enjoy. This place reminded us of a much smaller version of La Boqueria in Barcelona.

Every time I visit the market I am amazed at the vast selection of foods of all types.
Meats, pastries, cheese...itās all so amazing.
Great energy.
Donāt miss this place.

We rode our bikes to west side market on Saturday. There was entertainment all day in the square. Prices were good on produce in the market

A great experience over all. I got the best liverwurst I've ever had there! Lots of choices, but beware of Miriam's produce. She really overcharged me and my friend. I think she saw us coming. I was charged $ 68.00 for a bag of grapes, 3 mangoes, and a pineapple. It's definitely my fault for not questioning her, but she was moving quickly and rapidly talking to other customers. The way she weighed the produce and conducted business while her coworker was talking to me reminded me of a con artist as I thought about it later.
She was the last vendor I visited and was a disappointing ending to an otherwise lovely experience.

West Side Market is a must see & experience destination. Parking is plentiful (during a week day, I cannot speak to a weekend), and inexpensive, and the selection of vendors is fantastic! There are two separate buildings, so let's look at Building 1, which has an amazing vaulted ceiling (so don't forget to look up).
There's an import market in one corner, so the foodie in you (or the person who loves a foodie and needs a great gift) can find a variety of specialty ingredients. From Calabrian Chiles & Moroccan Preserved Lemons to the utterly viral Dubai Chocolate and charcuterie worthy cheese, be sure to stop in that import market. If you need something to consume relatively quickly, there are vendors with Irish pasties and gourmet enchilada, polish sausages and a sit down counter serving breakfast & lunch. If you're hankering for something sweet, well...well...pies, macaroons, cookies, cakes, donuts, candies. Meats, cheeses, hot sauce and more are available, as well as vegan options and some GF, too! The second building featured an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables that were so beautiful and unblemished that they hardly looked real. And again, there was some exceptional produce that just isn't available in most local grocery store. The Market is closed on Thursdays, and cash is preferred as many vendors have a minimum purchase or surcharge when using a credit card. Take your own bags, if you can. The vendors will appreciate it!

What a GREAT market that you can buy so many items at. Make sure to park in their parking lots then come in and walk by each vendor first before you commit to buying the best items ever. Make sure to find the apple fritters from the far back corner....they are so tasty. Go to the hummus bar with so many flavors to choose from.

This market place is a gem for food lovers......great meat selections, bakery delicacy's, as well as fruits and vegetables. The ability to try and taste so many different food items is almost overwhelming but what a nice challenge! We arrived shortly after lunch and decided to pick and choose our own lunch and eat it upstairs on the balcony and watch all the activity on the floor below.

We visit the West Side Market about 3 or 4 times a year and always wish we would go more often! It has a historical feel and cool ambiance, the vendors are helpful and the food is VERY fresh! For fresh meat, jerky and smokies it doesn't get any better than "J & J Czuchraj Meats". Great selection and very helpful staff! Tasty!!! For Chicken we enjoy "Wiencek Meats" - nice soup chicken and premade shish kabobs, etc. We never miss stopping at the "Pizza Bagel Lady" for some delicious Pizza Bagels (warm one to eat there and take some home). The Gyros are great and the fruit is fresh (just be sure to look around to get the best). The West Side Market is something you can do alone or with your family. Fun stuff and SOOO good.

Very busy, lots of different foods to see and people watching. Really worth a visit though the parking nearby can be hectic.

This place looks closed! If you look in the windows you can see maybe 3 venders in the building, way in the back. The rest of the building is empty. More importantly, itās across the street from a little park thatās full of homeless people; a few actually screamed at us for not giving them any money. Stay away from this place, thereās absolutely nothing going on.

My favorite stand is Forster Meats, I love the high quality meats and great customer service and wide selections of rare finds (i.e. bison burgers, goat meat)

We took a drive over to this wonderful area of Cleveland. The October weather was great for walking around and the market was a wonderful place to visit.
Vendors were so friendly and the atmosphere lively. We did not buy anything, although we surely would shop there if we lived in the area. Spotless and well lit.
That's what you want to see where food is being sold and served.
We would recommend and would re-visit if we return to Cleveland.

Lots of cool food and vendors. This is a great place to get meat and bakery goods. In the long, skinny aisle before you get to the main area the vendors are a little pushy. We tasted cotton candy grapes and asked to purchase them- then were told they were $8!
But once you get through the first part of pushy vendors the rest of the market is awesome. Vendors were super nice and had a ton of cool food to check out.
Will definitely be back on our next trip to Cleveland.

The market has an array of stores selling fresh meat, including organs, pastries, cooked food, crepes, pasta and so much more. They even have a vendor exclusively selling hot sauces. The quality of all the food they sell here isnāt great but if you are in the area and donāt have anything better to do, you can maybe spend an hour or so here. The food at the neighboring restaurants is far far better in quality and taste. The food being sold here can definitely get some help and be more fresher. I prefer Reading Terminal Market Philadelphia over West Side as they make a lot of fresh food right in front of you, They also have a lot of vendors selling hot food. But at west side, they have more vendors selling either cold food or food that has been sitting for hours and they will just microwave it for you.

One of my favorite things about Europe are the markets that the locals visit multiple times a week to get their fresh ingredients. That is not the American way with our huge fridges and stockpiling way of life. West Side Market does a good job of finding that middle ground where you have some of the daily items and some of the longer term items.
If you are able to visit, I recommend it. There is so much variety here!

This was our first time to visit West Side Market. Parking was close, first 90 minutes free, then charged per hour. One building has one row with fruits and vegetables on both sides. The second building is huge and has many booths with meat, deli items, bakery sweets, breads, and sandwiches. Some places will heat the sandwiches while you wait. Everything looked and tasted good but prices were high.

This place is unique, it is a market for sure and loaded with food choices from fresh meats, fruits and vegetables, seafood, baked goods, breads and pastries, etc. It's like a Flea Market of food and this place is extremely busy at times making parking a seek and find situation. West Side Market is really a neat place but you might need a cooler with ice for refrigerated items. Overall a great experience with a large selection of food choices. I plan on making another trip there to Cleveland I hope soon.

The historical West Side Market is absolutely worth a visit for those who enjoy unique groceries and food experiences, and do not mind an atmosphere of bustling chaos.
There is ample nearby parking, (at no or low cost, depending on the length of stay), and a few other places of interest, such as a student glass blowing studio and Mitchell's ice cream shop and factory (it's better than Jeni's!) within walking distance.
However--West Side Market is NOT the place for lunch or dinner! It is not a food hall, with different restaurants in each stall, like the North Market in Columbus. It is a market, selling groceries.
This means most of the stalls sell unprepared ingredients, such as raw produce, freshly butchered meat, block of cheeses, etc. Of the specialty, prepared-food shops, they largely serve only cold food, meant to be prepared at home. They may offer to warm something up for you, but *if* this offer is made (it isn't always), it generally means popping it into a microwave.
There are a few, rare places tucked in the corners which will make a crepe/ gyro/ hot dog fresh when you order, but expect higher than average prices, very, very long lines for them, and no tables to eat at once you get it. As such, I do not recommend the market as a place to get a meal with the whole family. The kids will melt down from the wait as you battle to prevent them from disappearing into the crowd. A snack and dessert as you wander? Yes. A full meal with many others? Definitely no.
If you have an AirBnb with a kitchen, exploring the market for things to cook would be a fun adventure, otherwise, I would recommend getting a good ice chest and going to the market the day you leave to stock up on steaks, pierogis, fresh pastas, fruit etc. for your trip home.
The tourist presence at the market has been having an interesting and unfortunate effect. Tourists expect and want a lunch spot with ready-to-eat foods, from a collection of restaurant stalls, and then become baffled when faced with the reality of a market-market selling ingredients. The overabundance of flashy-yet-subpar bakeries seems to be current answer to the tourist demand for something to eat right now, that they can preferably take a social media picture with first. The large crowds of out of towners make shopping at the market inconvenient for locals who would be in the market for regular use, while also driving up prices. Over the next decade or so, I imagine the place will slowly shift from being a true market, to being a food hall, but for the moment, it remains true to its original market spirit.

Loved being able to walk through the market and look at the yummy food! Enjoyed buying treats and eating as we went. Prices were very reasonable!

Bustling meat market. The good and the bad. Picked up some smoked Braunschweiger. Been looking for years. As good as I remember. The market is very crowded. Everybody masked up but social distancing impossible.

It is a great market for the city, but if you live in a rural area where has supply of fresh meat, it is not really a place for you. I prefer my local meat place. There is no fresh produce there, Only meat and bakery.

This place was a disappointment to us. Many of the vendors were closed. Had a difficult time getting something to eat. The food was pricey

What a great experience! As much a feast for the eyes as for the stomach. The bakeries made such beautiful confections and goodies. The butchers had everything you could imagine, even bones for your pooch. Prices on some items were a real value. Some of the bakery items were expensive, but the quality was worth it. The architecture is really neat too. The place is packed, so don't go in expecting to get in an out in a hurry, but plan to spend some time strolling through as you take it all in.

We love the Italian food the best, but there are great bakeries, creameries, and butchers. We always bring great selections home and find new things each time we visit.

West Side Market is like no other place anywhere within driving distance. Fresh fruit and vegetables surround the "meat" building. I love to stand at one end of the outside portion and just watched the people and colorful food. So much variety and it is all very fresh.
Inside there is every meat imaginable and the biggest gyros I have ever eaten. Truly a wonderful place. Nothing is low price though. Come ready to spend and walk away with tremendous bounty.

I loved walking around this place on a recent weekend trip to Cleveland. I consider myself a āfoodieā so this place was a dream come true. We got enchiladas, an apple fritter, coffee, and baklava from the different vendors. The only disappointment was the baklava from the middle eastern stand. I would love to come back & try some different things when we return.

I was not quite sure what to expect, but if you need fresh produce, meats or sweets, add this to your list

I donāt get the reviews whining about the hours. This is a working market, where many of the cityās restaurants source their ingredients. So plan accordingly your time to visit. It is a fascinating and busy market that reflects its history as a spot for immigrants from many parts of the world to find ingredients from the old country. Well worth a visit with many delicious things on offer.

Interesting place to visit. Also a lot of breweries around the place with good food and normal prices.

This was our first visit. Parking is free for the first 90 minutes, We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was congested inside the two buildings. We bought cooked food for lunch and various produce and bakery goods. The vendors sell fish, meat, bakery, produce, fruit and other products at reasonable prices. Everything looks very fresh. Bring your cooler!!
Choices!
Good variety of everything. Wished we lived closer.. I could come here every day for fresh bread and meat. Definitely a must stop if in area.
