Chengkan, formerly known as Longxi, was originally under the jurisdiction of She County, the capital of Huizhou, and is now under the jurisdiction of Huizhou District, Huangshan City (formerly Xixiang, She County). Since it was renamed Chengkan, it has a history of more than 1,800 years and is one of the best-preserved ancient villages in my country today.
Chengkan is surrounded by mountains on all sides, "just like the eight trigrams in the Book of Changes". The stream in the village flows around the village, forming a pattern similar to the yin-yang fish. In the Book of Changes, yang is "Cheng" and yin is "Kan", hence the name. The streets and alleys are winding and it is difficult to tell east from west, north from south, like a maze.
Chengkan is located at the southern foot of the Huangshan Scenic Area, a world natural and cultural heritage site, five kilometers northeast of the Foziling section of the road from Huizhou District to Huangshan. It is 40 kilometers north of Huangshan and 15 kilometers south of Yansi Town, the seat of Huizhou District Government.

Before, I watched an episode of "Idol Coming" and was attracted by a place called Bagua Village. It had magnificent Hui-style architecture and was praised by Zhu Xi as "Chengkan Shuangxianli, the best village in Jiangnan."
Compared with other 5A-level material cultural heritage scenic spots, Chengkan Ancient Town is surprisingly quiet, without the hustle and bustle of business, and the alleys seem to have never been disturbed by outsiders.
My first impression of Chengkan was when I had dinner at a restaurant outside the ancient village. The restaurant was not big, and could only accommodate 4 or 5 tables. I felt a little cold while eating, so I asked for a pot of wine to keep warm. Before I opened the wine, I heard a middle-aged man at the next table reciting a poem.
Chengkan is a place where it is easy to get lost. The streets and alleys in the shape of the Eight Diagrams are interconnected. If you are not careful, you will lose your way. In the narrow streets, you can't find anyone to ask for directions. You might as well close your eyes and hold your breath. Divination or prayer? No, trust your ears, they can hear the continuous flow of water not far away.
Passing through the narrow alleys, around the corners where smoke is rising from cooking fires, the aroma of a bowl of old noodles hits you in the face. The tender bamboo shoots in the fresh soup are full of the aftertaste of spring.
Chengkan is a small village, and the core scenic area is basically spread around Yongxing Lake. This is also the most popular place in Chengkan. The white-walled and black-tiled Hui-style buildings are reflected in the lake, and they are beautiful no matter how you take pictures. On the last day in Chengkan, I already felt a sense of familiarity with this place. I even wanted to go up and say something back when I saw someone say that this place is not good online. If there is really a long vacation that can completely put aside work, I really want to live here for a while, just to live in a living environment, without visiting scenic spots or Internet celebrity stores.
"Visiting Chengkan will bring you a life without difficulties." This ancient village hidden in the mountains and rivers of Huizhou is like a heavy history book, carrying the elegance of thousands of years. It was built according to the Eight Diagrams Feng Shui, with white walls and black tiles, and streets and canals interweaving. Every place is filled with the charm of history and the fragrance of culture.
After having dinner and thinking about the itinerary after coming down from Huangshan, it was natural for us to stay in Chengkan for one night.
The full price ticket is 107, which is not worth it. First, the main theme is Bagua, but there is no mention of Kan as water. Second, the scenic spots are too scattered, and they can even be called three scenic spots. The north side is the ancient building, which is really grand; the central Sun-drying Square is more photogenic; the south side is the Internet-famous Bagua Gate, which is quite far away. The biggest impact on me is that I usually leave the car after flying the drone at the first point.
I also have to sigh that the price level in Huizhou is too high during this Spring Festival.
There is a large lake outside the village, with two stone bridges on the water, connecting the entrance to the scenic area, which is somewhat similar to the outside of Hongcun. Compared with the scenic areas I visited before, there are a lot more tourists here. Following the pace of the tourists, I walked into the village after crossing the stone bridge. The buildings in the village are all terraced, and there is clear water flowing slowly along the ditch beside the stone road to the outside of the village, which is very similar to the ditch design in Hongcun.
Chengkan was formerly known as Longxi, and was originally under the jurisdiction of She County, the capital of Huizhou. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, the cousins Luo Tianzhen and Luo Tianzhi from Nanchang Prefecture, Jiangxi Province, moved their family to She County, "selected a place 40 miles northwest, named Longxi, and renamed it Chengkan", and "built a house and lived there" (Zhang Xu of the Yuan Dynasty, "Preface to the Luo Family Genealogy"). Chengkan was originally named Longxi and was first built during the Eastern Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period. It has a history of more than 1,800 years. As early as the Song Dynasty, it was praised by the famous Neo-Confucianist Zhu Xi as "Chengkan Shuangxianli, the first village in Jiangnan".
If you travel through Chengkan, you will have no obstacles in your life.
There is a grand scene of autumn sun drying here, and this is the filming location for the fifth season of Where Are We Going, Dad?
A very comfortable village, not particularly commercialized, it's OK, you can hear birds singing in the morning, the village is relatively dense, it is said to be built according to the eight trigrams, it has a lot of history and culture, it's a very good place
Chengkan, also known as Longxi and Bagua Village, is a town under the jurisdiction of Huizhou District, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. It is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction, the first village in Jiangnan, the hometown of ancient Chinese architecture, and the best tourist town in Anhui Province. It is located at the southern foot of Huangshan Mountain, adjacent to She County in the east, Qiankou Town in the south, Xixi South Town and Qiashe Township in the west, and Fuxi Township in the north. Chengkan was selected and laid out according to the Bagua Fengshui theory of "Yin (Kan), Yang (Cheng), unity of two energies, and unity of heaven and man" in the Book of Changes. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, forming three streets, and the ninety-nine lanes seem like a maze. It is the most well-preserved ancient village of the Ming Dynasty in China. There are more than 150 historical ancient structures from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties in the village, of which 21 are national key cultural relics protection units.
Chengkan is an ancient village with Hui-style architecture. Compared with Hongcun and Xidi, Chengkan is less famous, but fewer people go there. It is quite suitable for a quiet and leisurely tour.
Chengkan Village is now a 5A scenic spot. It is known as the "model of Chinese Feng Shui" and the "No. 1 Feng Shui Village in China". It is the oldest and most mysterious Bagua village discovered in the world so far. It is known as the "paradise on earth" and a village painted in ink.
Liu Haisu once said, "You must visit Chengkan when climbing Mount Huangshan." Bi Shumin also sighed, "The most worthwhile place to visit in China is Chengkan!"
The tickets are too expensive. As a popular check-in spot, you can just take a few photos outside. Although I also bought a ticket to enter, the following pictures were taken outside. Inside is the same ancient village as the ancient village.
It is also a relatively mature Hui-style scenic spot, with the name of Bagua Village: Chengkan was originally named Longxi. It was built in the Eastern Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period, with a history of more than 1,800 years. As early as the Song Dynasty, it was praised by the famous Neo-Confucianist Zhu Xi as "Chengkan Shuangxianli, the first village in Jiangnan". It now has 21 national key protected cultural relics and is known as the "hometown of national treasures". The entire village of Chengkan is located and laid out according to the Bagua Feng Shui theory of "Yin (Kan), Yang (Cheng), the unity of two qi, and the unity of heaven and man" in the Book of Changes. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, forming three streets and ninety-nine lanes like a maze. In the construction of the village, it is formed according to the layout of the four main hexagrams of the innate Bagua diagram: it interprets the ancient philosopher's theory that water and fire counteract each other to produce all things, and heaven and earth contain all things. At the same time, the ancient Longxi River in Chengkan Village is like a jade belt, passing through the village in an "S" shape from north to south, forming the dividing line of the Bagua Yin and Yang fish; there are eight mountains standing around the village, which naturally form the eight directions of the Bagua, and together constitute a natural Bagua layout. The ingenious layout of the integration of human Bagua and natural Bagua makes Chengkan a miracle in the history of ancient Chinese village construction. It has always been regarded as a Feng Shui treasure land in Huizhou. The profound "Book of Changes? Bagua Feng Shui" theory is mysteriously connected with the human living environment, social harmony, and village residential construction. The "Chinese Celebrity Dictionary" lists more than 500 ancient celebrities in Chengkan, Huizhou, such as Luo Ruji (chief judge of the Yue Fei case), Luo Xiaohua (a master of ink making in Huizhou in the Ming Dynasty), Luo Pin (one of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou, a great painter), Luo Yuan, etc. Chengkan is the only best-preserved ancient village in the Ming Dynasty in the country. It has completely preserved ancient architectural groups with high historical research value from the Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties. The ancient buildings here are a collection of pavilions, terraces, towers, pavilions, bridges, wells, ancestral halls, communities and houses of different styles of the Hui style. The exquisite craftsmanship and ingenious stone, brick and wood carvings fully embody the ancient, grand, beautiful and elegant Hui style architectural art, making it the best of ancient Hui. Liu Haisu, a master of traditional Chinese painting, once said, "You must go to Chengkan when climbing Mount Huangshan."
Chengkan is a place of outstanding people, rich cultural heritage, and many celebrities. It has a profound historical and cultural heritage and has been known as "Chengkan Shuangxianli, the first village in Jiangnan" since ancient times. Strolling in Chengkan, you can feel the pastoral atmosphere surrounded by mountains and rivers and the rich Huizhou culture. The urge to "seclude yourself in Chengkan" will arise spontaneously!
After going through the difficulties, there will be no difficulties in life...
I think Chengkan is more fun than Xidi, but maybe it is less well-known than Xidi and Hongcun due to less publicity. It is the filming location of the fifth season of Where Are We Going, Dad? It is still worth a visit, especially during holidays, when there are fewer people than Xidi.
The whole village is pretty good. From the exterior, it may not be as easy to take photos as Hongcun, but the village is not commercialized, and you can still take some relatively clean photos of the ancient village. The local buildings, especially Zhongying Street and Baolun Pavilion above, can give people a certain impact. Personally, I feel that if the ticket price is 60-80, it should be more appropriate. 107 does feel a bit thin. If the scenic area is better managed, it would be fine, but often anger about the ticket price can easily be vented on dissatisfaction with the management of the scenic area. As soon as you enter the village, there will be countless (at least 10 to 20) wild guides (claiming to be villagers) who want to follow you and give you a tour guide. It is impossible to concentrate on looking at the buildings, and even taking pictures will be affected. If you refuse them, they will say some very unpleasant words. When you turn a corner, another wild guide will pounce on you. Alas, if you don’t invite a tour guide to go in, you will be harassed by the wild guides. If you keep refusing, you will hear many unhappy words. If you can still survive in such a village, congratulations, you really can make it through the difficulties:) In addition, many handicrafts sold in small shops are obviously sent from Yiwu or Xianyou, and they are sold for 10 yuan online. You claim that you carved and made them yourself.
Don't you feel ashamed to cheat children by charging hundreds or even thousands of dollars? We just turned around and walked away, but these shop owners and the people who followed them said that the prices were indeed too high and most parents would not buy them for their children...
This scenic spot really needs to be well managed.
Generally speaking, Chengkan has a nice view, but I personally feel that the tickets and services are a bit expensive.
Scenery: 4 stars
Value for money: 2 stars
Nearby accommodation and dining conditions: 4 stars
Transportation: 4 stars
Recommendation index: 3 stars
The scenic area is not big. Adult tickets are bought online in advance for 102 yuan each, and children buy 50 yuan on site. The scenic area is not big, and the explanation fee of 50 yuan is good. As for the online saying that you can't get out of the gossip village without a tour guide, it's pure nonsense, but it's also good to hire a tour guide ~ tell the children ~ 2 hours is enough, there is Tangmo next to it, and there are Hongcun and so on around it.
Actually, I learned about Chengkan from "Here Comes the Idols". Later, "Where Are We Going, Dad?" was also filmed here, which gradually made this Huizhou architectural complex famous. It may be that it was the first Huizhou architectural complex we arrived at, or it may be that we had not climbed Huangshan yet and everyone was still energetic. In short, we went to Xidi and Hongcun in the end, and everyone agreed that Chengkan was the most beautiful.
Following the footsteps of Dad, Where Are We Going?, I came to Chengkan. I have to say that the scenery in Yongxin Lake is still very beautiful. Dad's Home, Shaiqiu Square, and Ping'ankan, where Dad is filmed, are all by the lake. There is a peace bell next to Ping'ankan, which costs 10 yuan to ring three times. The rooms in Dad, Where Are We Going? are well preserved, and the Nutrilon pillows at the head of the bed are still there. The only room with a cordon is Room 1, and the other four rooms are open for visit. The entrance to Dad's Home is on the right side of Shaiqiu Square, and there is a sign that is easy to see. Because we entered the scenic area from the back door, the entire tour route is the opposite of the tour group, and we got all kinds of tour explanations along the way. Let me talk about the tour guides in Chengkan. There are two types of tour guides encountered during free travel. One is a local villager tour guide and the other is a red vest tour guide. The local villager tour guide can take you around for about 20 yuan, but they can't enter all the attractions that require ticket inspection, so they can only wait at the door. The red vest tour guide is about 50 yuan, and you can enter the scenic spot for explanations. We hired a tour guide near Yanyi Hall. There are some things that you can't understand by yourself. It's good to hire a tour guide to learn some history. Some attractions in Chengkan have self-guided tours, which are the kind that you can listen to by scanning the QR code on your phone, but they do not include all attractions.
It is recommended to visit for 4 hours. I know Chengkan Village because I watched the Mango TV show "Idols Are Coming" that year. One episode was filmed here. The scenery is picturesque, and the pond is full of green lotus in summer. You need to buy a ticket to enter the tour. Be sure to pay attention to the time of the return bus and don't miss the last bus~ You must step on this "Kan", which means that if you visit Chengkan, you will have no obstacles in your life. The Hui-style architecture and mountains and rivers in Chengkan Village are nestled together, which is beautiful~ It's really like a person swimming in a painting! The only drawback is that when you walk in the village, a villager will pop up after walking a few steps and ask if you want a tour guide, and will pester you... I did see some tourists pay them to be tour guides, but the attitude of forced buying and selling really made us unhappy.
Upon entering the scenic area, the first thing that catches your eye is Yongxing Lake, which is very similar to the Nanhu Lake in Hongcun in the photo. The open water surface reflects the Hui-style dwellings like a mirror, and the blue sky, white clouds, lanterns, stone bridges, green trees and distant mountains are clearly visible. This area of water is also a place where you will not get lost in Chengkan.
Go around the lake to the other side, and you will find Bagua Street, which is full of historical and cultural relics. If you don't have time to challenge your sense of direction, the old lady who greeted you will provide explanations and guide you for only 10 yuan. Strolling in Chengkan Ancient Village, the deep narrow alleys, old halls, moss-covered stairs, every brick, tile, flower and tree, all tell the vicissitudes of time. It took more than half an hour to take a quick tour. At the exit of the scenic area, the small bridge and flowing water under the sunset are like a painting.
This thousand-year-old town is particularly beautiful against the blue sky and white clouds. The big stone bridge next to the lotus pond that comes into view as soon as you enter the village is also full of literary and artistic atmosphere. There is a wonton stall as soon as you enter the village, which is the wonton that the children and fathers eat in Dad 5. It should be reminded that there are a lot of routines from the entrance of the village: various so-called women and uncles in the village will charge a 20 yuan tour guide fee in the name of guiding the way and are responsible for leading the tour. Every road and every building in this Bagua village is similar, and it is indeed easy to get lost. Fortunately, the village is not big, and there may not be many tourists at present, so the commercial atmosphere is not so strong, and it is not particularly standardized. The four famous ancient houses in the village require tickets to enter, and there will be security guards at the door.
It is recommended to spend about 2 to 3 hours. Suitable for those who are interested in primitive scenery or cultural landscapes. This place is relatively primitive and has not been commercially developed. One of the mistakes here is that I did not buy Chengkan tickets online in advance. Online shopping requires 1 hour in advance. When I arrived at the local area, I decided to eat first and then enter the scenic area to play under the lobbying of local villagers. I bought the tickets by the way and waited for time. I entered a local farmhouse. The first floor was for tourists to eat, the second floor was for hotels, and the third floor was for self-occupation. There are also several farmhouses in the village, but the development here is not as good as that in Hongcun, but this side retains more primitive architectural features. We asked the owner of the yard what was good in Chengkan. The aunt was also very proud and said that the buildings inside were more exquisite in the past. When we were worried about whether the old buildings here were damaged due to the Anti-Japanese War, the answer we got was indeed unexpected. The war did not cause too much damage to this ancient town. Instead, many beautiful and exquisitely carved archways were destroyed when the four olds were destroyed. When I went to pick up the ticket, I mistakenly thought that the security guard gave me the wrong instructions. Even the ticket sales point of the scenic spot is so unique. The whole building should have been a big family before. When I later remembered that the Public Security Bureau in Qingdao's southern district was in an old German-style building, I finally understood what was going on. Go to the top of a small hill and look out over the entire Chengkan. There aren't many colors here, but every building is worth savoring.
The two of them dragged their slightly disabled feet and came to Chengkan. Outside each house there is a reservoir, which is filled with rainwater collected from the roof. In the Eight Diagrams, water is said to gather wealth. In the eyes of Huizhou people, rainwater is a great good, wealth, and luck.
Every household has a water collection pool, and the open roof collects rainwater into it. When it rains, we drain the water, while they collect water~ We climbed a high mountain and took a panoramic view of Chengkan in the fields of other people; we walked to Yongxing Lake, which is also a blessing in the village because water is said to gather wealth. The residential buildings, ancient roads, long streets and short alleys. Both sides are full of antique residential buildings, where you can appreciate the original ancient charm of the Huizhou village.
It's a place worth visiting, it's super beautiful. Today it was cloudy, then sunny, then cloudy again, with clouds floating. There are amateur tour guides next to the lotus pond (local villagers, with an average age of over 60-70 years old, very professional in explanation, and ok in ordinary language, 20 yuan). Regular tour guides are 50 yuan, they will show you every brick and tile, and you don't have to leave the scenic area, because the explanation route basically goes around the place on the ticket. You can come back and walk around the lotus pond, and you can also walk to the farmland, which is very beautiful.
It's very good, the parking lot at the door is super large. It's very fast to drive here, and I also went to Shuyuan Village on the way back.
It is one of the best preserved ancient villages today. Its scenery is no less beautiful than Hongcun, but it has not yet been over-developed commercially.
When you enter Chengkan, the first thing that comes into view is the most beautiful scenery here - Yongxing Lake. It is a bit like a smaller version of Hongcun South Lake. The villagers call it "Shuikou" because it is the gathering place of all water sources in the village. In the gossip, water is said to gather wealth, which is also the blessing of the village. In summer, lotus flowers are in full bloom. At that time, Yongxing Lake will become the most beautiful corner of Chengkan, just like the lotus pond moonlight described by Mr. Zhu Ziqing.
Walking on the stone road of the ancient village, my restless heart instantly calmed down.
There is no strong commercial atmosphere like other ancient villages here. The villagers basically maintain their original life, working from sunrise to sunset. Except for a few natives who sell local food at home, there are basically no other commercial development projects in Chengkan. As tourists, we can feel the more authentic village life. It can be said that Chengkan is not much different from Hongcun and Xidi, but it has more original flavor of ancient villages.
Although it is easy to get lost in the streets and alleys of Chengkan, there are rules to follow. If you know the general direction, you won't really get lost. At the two entrances to Chengkan Village, there will be some aunties and uncles who volunteer to act as tour guides. In fact, the price is not high, 20 yuan, and sometimes they will take the initiative to reduce it to 10 yuan. It is really cost-effective to find a local to take you around for ten or twenty yuan, but we don't want to be bothered and just want to visit quietly by ourselves, so we refused. Some aunties and uncles may be more persistent. Just tell them that you have already talked to someone yesterday and come to visit again today, and they will not pester you. Moreover, this phenomenon only exists at the entrance of the village. No one will bother you after entering.
According to the scenic area map, taking the mainstream route, you can see several key attractions: the scenic area gate - Shuikou (viewing lotus at Yongxing Lake) - Lingxiu Pavilion - Xiawu - Yanyi Hall - Zhongying Tower - Huanxiu Bridge (the oldest building in the village) - Luo Dongshu Temple (known as the "No. 1 Temple in Jiangnan", the essence of Chengkan) - scenic area exit.
Chengkan is not well-known, and the village is small, so people always feel that they can visit it quickly. In fact, the winding paths lead to secluded places. In addition to the mainstream route, the various branch routes are very interesting. Sometimes you will go around and around and return to the original place. This may be the legendary culture of "Visiting Chengkan for a lifetime without obstacles" that has been passed down for thousands of years. The layout is magical, like entering a maze.
If you are not afraid of getting lost, you can take a detailed walk and you will always find surprises.
Yin and Yang, the Eight Diagrams, are so complicated, I can only see the mountains and rivers, let them go around. Erzhen, five streets, ninety-nine alleys. Count them, and they are too numerous to count. The lost elk. Spending the New Year in Chengkan, my heart is suddenly red and prosperous. Ink and wash landscape, the reflection and the real scene are natural, and they are yin and yang. Flowers bloom and fade, how many years will pass, and the love and romance of childhood sweethearts will still remain. Ordinary alleys, mossy steps, mottled light and shadow, where is the departure?
When we arrived at Chengkan, the three of us kept exclaiming how beautiful it was. Since the government hasn't done much tourism publicity here, there aren't many tourists. But it was really comfortable. It's been a long time since we've been to such a comfortable scenic spot. The three of us came in without getting tickets. Later, a villager lady said that if we didn't visit the few paid attractions and just came to the village for a walk, we didn't need to buy tickets. Since we were already there, we just bought tickets and went in.
Walking into Chengkan Bagua Village is really dizzying. Everything looks the same and it is very easy to get lost. The alleys are very narrow, but they are finally a little wider when you reach the ancestral hall. The old people in the village are sitting on Huanxiu Bridge to cool off. When the old lady sees me holding up the camera, she turns her body away vigilantly. Indeed, the arrival of tourists has broken their peaceful life. When you arrive in Chengkan, you must try the hairy tofu that has been on the tip of your tongue. The most authentic way to cook it is to fry it on a teppanyaki plate. You must also order the stinky mandarin fish. After dinner, I came out for a stroll. The noise of tourists in the scenic area opposite has faded, but the chorus of frogs and insects in the lotus pond has increased. I got up early, and it was as hot as ever. The camera was cooled in the air-conditioned room all night. As soon as I went out, I was sweating in front of the lens. Whatever I took was like being in a fairyland, and it was foggy. Of course, it is not an exaggeration to say that it is like entering a bathhouse.
I have to say that Mango TV's "Idols Are Coming" has played an extremely important role in promoting Chengkan. The first time I heard about Chengkan was through this variety show. When I arrived at the parking lot outside Chengkan Village, I looked up and saw a row of colorful trees. The bright colors dispelled a lot of the shadows of not being able to go to Huangshan. Then I strolled in the ancient village. When I turned around and looked up, it seemed that a series of distinctive and flavorful ink paintings were constantly changing in front of my eyes. I gained infinite joy before walking quietly. I was very sure that rainy days were the correct way to open the Hui style ancient village. At the entrance of the scenic area, you still have to go through a few hundred meters of road before you can really enter the village. There are few people in the off-season. I walked leisurely and emptied my mind for a while. If I came in summer, the red flowers, green leaves, white walls, and black tiles should be another beautiful scenery. I always feel that these buildings are permeated with the fragrance of ink. Water gives the village more aura. The winding paths lead to secluded places, the stone roads extend in all directions, the drainage channels are well planned, and the river water passes through the village, still clear.
There are actually many ancient towns around Huangshan. Compared with Hongcun and Xidi, Chengkan is not so famous. The most well-known ones are "Idols Are Coming" and "Where Are We Going, Dad?". Entering the scenic area, you can see lotus leaves covering the pond in the distance, and the lotus flowers are about to bloom, like a landscape painting. The buildings at the entrance look like they are newly built, but they are still very beautiful to take pictures. The lotus leaves are in the fields, the lotus flowers are lingering, and the breeze blows away the summer heat, and the air is filled with coolness. After seeing the two lakes and two bridges, you will really enter Chengkan Bagua Village through the gatehouse. Compared with those ancient towns with a strong commercial atmosphere, there is a kind of tranquility away from the glitz and glamor here. There are few tourists and few shops. Most of them are real locals and the houses where they live. There are a few older aunts and grandmothers at the entrance of the village. When they see tourists coming in, they will keep following you to lead the way, about 10 to 20 yuan. We refused many times, but seeing that grandma was still following us and it was difficult to communicate, we simply gave her money to lead the way. After all, the alleys inside were really hard to get out of. Walking through the uneven stone roads, the mottled front walls and deep alleys passed by, feeling the ancient tranquility of this village after thousands of years, my heart also calmed down, as if I had gone deep into the Peach Blossom Spring, away from the hustle and bustle of the world. It is a specialty of Chengkan - Mao tofu, which I have seen before in A Bite of China. Emmm...I am not used to it, and I didn't notice any white hair. Maybe it's not authentic, so I didn't think it tasted good.
I think the entrance of Chengkan Village is the most distinctive among the ancient villages in Huizhou.
He is famous for filming "Idol Coming" and "Where Are We Going, Dad Season 5".
The child's father was so eager to visit this place after watching "Where Are We Going, Dad?"! We asked the director to explain it to us (50 yuan)
Before entering the village, you should touch the heads and tongues of the stone sculptures on both sides to bring good luck and fortune. When crossing the threshold, men should step on the left and women on the right, which means a smooth life.
Tickets for Chengkan Scenic Area (5A) Adult tickets are 102 yuan/person online, and the B&B owner helped us buy tickets for 95 yuan/person.
A must-go spot for artistic sketching. The whole village is a mothership group. The carvings are very exquisite. There are daily residents in the scenic spot, so it is very quiet. The lake water will change color...
The village has whitewashed walls and towering high walls. It was drizzling when we went there, and it looked like a vivid ink-splashed landscape painting.
A heart-warming village is a place where you have to put aside all your cynicism and unruliness, a place where the noise subsides and the soul finds peace.
Chengkan displays Ming Dynasty architecture. Its high walls are not like the horse-head walls of Hongcun which are high in the middle and low on both sides. Instead, they are gable-shaped high walls, a typical Ming Dynasty architecture.
Chengkan is rarely visited on rainy days, making it a perfect place for taking photos and daydreaming. The occasional drizzle also adds a sense of historical vicissitudes to this ancient town.
Many variety shows have been filmed here, so it has gained some fame. It is a pity that it was not well known before. The scenery is nice. There are not as many tourists as Xidi and Hongcun, but it is worth a visit.
This village is also called Bagua Village. The Feng Shui of the whole village is arranged according to the Bagua. It is very interesting. I was amazed at the wisdom of the ancients! When you get here, you must do: cross the hurdle! The slogan of the scenic spot is: Visit Chengkan, and you will have no hurdles in your life. So when you get here, you must follow the local customs. Who doesn't want everything to go smoothly in life?
In general, Chengkan is worth a visit, with beautiful scenery, relatively small population, and a long history, otherwise it would not attract so many variety shows.
The ticket price is also expensive, 108 yuan. After buying the ticket, walk to the ticket gate. There is a place to store luggage, which is the visitor center of the scenic area! What surprised me is that this luggage storage is free! Of course, if you live there, you don’t need to store it! The storage time is before 17:00 in the afternoon, otherwise they will be off work! After checking in, you have to walk about 300 meters to reach the scenic area! There are restaurants and hostels at the entrance of the scenic area! When you arrive at the entrance of the real scenic area, you have to check your ticket again, so you can’t throw away the ticket. You need a ticket to enter each scenic spot!
After checking your ticket, you can see a pond of lotus flowers. It's very beautiful! There is also a small bridge beside the lotus pond. I have seen the idol coming and it is very impressive!
Going further in is the square at the entrance of the village! Then I came to the Chengkan hurdle! After this hurdle, there will be no more hurdles in life!
After you pass the ridge, you can see a person sitting under the bell. You can ring the bell to pray for blessings! It costs 10 yuan! If you are interested, you can ring it three times! After passing this ridge, you can see the Bagua map! Chengkan is a Bagua village. Looking down from the air, the whole village is in the shape of Bagua! So there are many villagers guarding the door to guide you and explain the way, because if you go in alone, you may get lost! It is not easy to get out of the Bagua formation. If you have a ticket, you can enter and exit as many times as you want on the same day!
The overall feeling that Chengkan gave me was very good. I still like this place very much. It is much quieter than Hongcun, with very few tourists, and I can just stare blankly!
After buying a ticket and entering the main gate, you still have to walk 1 km to enter the second gate, which is a bit of a rip-off! It is said that a small transportation bus will be available in the scenic area in the future to make more money! Compared with other nearby attractions, it has no advantages and is similar. The ticket for the Chengkan Village Ancient Buildings is 107 yuan, and it takes about 2 hours to visit. The Chengkan Village Ancient Buildings is about 8 kilometers away from Qiankou Houses, and it can be reached in 10 minutes by car.
The rain makes the scenery more beautiful.
As soon as I came in, I kept exclaiming how beautiful the lake was!
I didn't know until I went there that Dad, Where Are We Going? and Idols Are Coming had both recorded shows here. I only knew Hongcun and Huangshan in my impression of Huangshan, but I didn't know there was such a place.
You need to buy tickets to Chengkan. I bought them directly after arriving and spent 107 yuan.
The Chengkan Scenic Area is also inhabited by local villagers. Taking a walk in Chengkan, you can directly experience the scenery and customs of the southern Anhui mountain villages.
Tunxi Station to Chengkan (about 30-40min). Chengkan Station is near the scenic area, but it is still some distance from the ticket office. There are often tricycles on the road to pick up passengers. We didn’t take them, but walked to the ticket office to pick up the tickets. The tickets were also bought in advance (double ticket ¥175), and then walked to the ticket gate, which is the entrance to the scenic area. You can store your bags there for free, which is quite humane. Entering the scenic area, you can see the scenes of Dad 2, take pictures and see the houses they live in. From time to time, local people will come to be paid tour guides, because it’s boring to wander around by yourself, and you’re afraid of getting lost in the village if you don’t know the way. Later, we spent ¥10 to follow a local aunt to visit the village. She gave us a brief introduction and learned some stories about Chengkan.
We arrived at Chengkan at 8:40, and there were indeed few cars in the parking lot. We got off the bus and walked to the water entrance (locals call the village entrance "water entrance"), and the ticket seller told us that the crew only occupied a part of the village, and the rest of the place was still open for fun. I thought, the crew must have occupied the most essential part, and it would be a waste to buy a ticket but not be able to see the best part, right? So we got on the bus and left Chengkan.
Chengkan is not as commercialized as Hongcun. We still didn't buy tickets and didn't go to see the ancestral hall comparable to the Forbidden City. We walked around the village. There was no entrance fee in the morning.
Chengkan Village is a famous Bagua Village. If you have visited Chengkan, you will never have any troubles in your life. If Hongcun is a village in a landscape painting, quiet and peaceful, then Chengkan shows me simplicity. Without tourism development, Chengkan is what it is, quiet, mysterious and simple. However, due to the lack of perfect tourism development, its corresponding services, food and accommodation are not convenient.
The ancient village is worth recommending, no less than Xidi and Hongcun, with more Ming Dynasty Hui-style buildings. The ticket price of 107 yuan is a bit expensive.
After coming down from Huangshan, I checked in near Huangshan North High-speed Railway Station and prepared to rest for a day before returning. Chengkan is one of the villages with Huizhou Hui-style architecture. I have been to Hongcun before, and this time I chose Chengkan. The transportation from the residence to the scenic spot is not convenient. There is no direct bus, so I can only take a taxi, which costs about 50 yuan. The village is all Hui-style architecture, and the commercial atmosphere is not too strong. The most attractive thing is that the layout of the village is based on the Yin-Yang Bagua layout. It is known as the first village of Chinese Feng Shui. It is best to ask a guide to explain. The ticket is a bit expensive.
Chengkan is located at the southern foot of the Huangshan Scenic Area in Anhui Province, a world natural and cultural heritage. It is 40 kilometers north of Huangshan and 15 kilometers south of Yansi Town, the seat of the Huizhou District Government. Chengkan is located among green mountains and bamboos, integrating natural and cultural landscapes. Since the Song Dynasty, the Huizhou merchants have emerged in Chengkan, and the cultural and educational undertakings have flourished. It is unique in the development of Huizhou culture and history. Chengkan Village, the seat of the Chengkan Town People's Government, was named "Anhui Historical and Cultural Protection Area" by the Anhui Provincial People's Government in May 1996.
Chengkan is the least commercialized ancient village I have visited. It happened to be raining when I went there, and the mist made the ancient village even more beautiful. Chengkan Five Streets roughly extends parallel to the Zhongchuan River, running north-south, and the alleys are perpendicular to the main streets, running east-west. All the streets are paved with granite slabs, and the houses on both sides are lined up in an orderly manner, with green walls and black tiles, high and low, black and white, elegant and beautiful, long streets and short alleys, jagged and interlaced, like a maze. Walking on the streets, there is a scene with every step, and the scenery is different with every step. There is scenery everywhere, and people are in the painting, which is endless fun.
The Hui-style dwellings in Chengkan are well preserved, with little commercial use, few tourists, and a long history of ancient charm.
It is a very quiet village with a light commercial atmosphere. The architecture gives people a more historical feeling than Hongcun. Mango TV's "Idols Are Coming" was once filmed here.
A super nice Hui-style village, you will feel a sense of tranquility as soon as you enter. You can enjoy the joy of autumn harvest in the autumn sun drying square, or walk into the living area to see the real Hui-style architecture, or you can take in the beautiful meaning of "Visiting Chengkan will bring you a life without difficulties"...
After visiting Chengkan, I have always wanted to experience the local characteristics. We were traveling independently, and many local grandmothers came up to us and asked for 30 yuan to introduce the local history. They were very enthusiastic, but we felt that it was better for us to experience it ourselves, as the elderly were too emotional.
Chengkan (kǎn) is located at the southern foot of the Huangshan Scenic Area, a world natural and cultural heritage site.
You can see the scenery as soon as you enter the scenic area. I went there in December 2015. I felt that Chengkan was an undeveloped scenic spot. The public supporting facilities were not complete and the tickets were very expensive. It was probably because Hunan Satellite TV had filmed a reality show there before, so the tickets were expensive. I don't know how the scenic spot is being developed now. In general, it's enough to look at the photos of Chengkan.
The trip to Qingbei Chengkan is full of picturesque people and beautiful scenery!
Anyway, it was just to see the ancient villages, which I personally think is not interesting. I am still looking forward to Huangshan! We hired a car for 300 yuan. The first stop was Chengchui, and then it took us to Tangmo, which was still the ancient villages. We left. I personally think that they are all Hui-style buildings, so it is enough to see a representative one. I saw that the most people went to Xidi. I felt very regretful to go to Chengchui!
A typical ancient village in southern Anhui. Well worth a visit.
Visit Chengkan, and you will have no more troubles in your life. Chengkan, the famous Bagua Village, is comparable to Hongcun in terms of scenery and architecture, but lacks a lot of the commercial atmosphere of Hongcun, so I prefer it here. It is also a famous Hui-style building with white walls and green tiles, and exquisite architecture. There is a large square by the lake outside the village, which is breathtakingly beautiful when it is drying in autumn. Even the fields outside the village are like a fairyland. Any corner, a hole in the wall, or a window can be photographed as a painting.
I went there in early February. It was misty and rainy, and with the white walls and black tiles, it looked like an ink painting.
Perhaps due to the inconvenient transportation, Chengkan, this thousand-year-old village is much quieter than Hongcun and Xidi, with few tourists and even residents. You can walk slowly along the ancient stone road following the signs, admiring the old houses, the intricately carved gatehouses, the window frames covered with dust from afar, the sturdy and unique "winter melon beams", the rusty door knockers, the whitened gray tiles and the yellowed white walls...
It is said that Chengkan has attracted much attention due to its Feng Shui. This ancient village with a history of 1,800 years was built according to the concept of "Yin (Kan) and Yang (Cheng), the unity of heaven and man". "Climbing Huangshan Mountain, there is no mountain in the world; visiting Chengkan, there is no mountain in your life" has become a highlight of Huizhou tourism.
In fact, I prefer the quietness and simplicity of Chengkan. Walking through the narrow streets, the stone pavement under my feet seems to be softened by time, time and space are stagnant, and my mind is free from distractions. Only the pure breath of nature surrounds me...
It is said that when you come to Anhui, you only need to visit Xidi and Hongcun. To be precise, it should be that you only need to visit Hongcun. It is true that you don’t need to go to Xidi if you have visited Hongcun. Xidi is not as good as Hongcun. We also struggled for a long time in Chengkan, whether to go or not, and finally decided to come. There are three reasons: First, I have been to it in last year’s Idols Come, and it looks good. Second, it is also a 5A-level scenic spot, which should be considered good according to national standards. Since you are in Anhui, you should visit it more comprehensively. Third, it is a maze, and many people turn around when they come. With these reasons, I decided to come.
There is a direct bus to Chengkan from Tunxi Bus Station. On the way, you will pass by Qiankou Houses, which is free and you can visit them by yourself. They are all old houses with Huizhou style architecture and are part of the ancient Huizhou cultural area.
Chengkan is similar to Hongcun, but the feeling is different once you enter the door. The lotus leaves are all over the lake, and there is an empty square, which instantly increases my interest in visiting this place. I followed the tour guide, listening and watching, and it was basically the same. I saw a red plum seller halfway, it looked good, so I bought some, and it tasted really good. After a while, I couldn't keep up with the tour guide, so I started to walk around by myself. It was really getting more and more chaotic, and I walked out without realizing it, and I still had the ticket. Everyone must remember to carry the ticket with you, and don't throw it away, because you may have to check your ticket when you walk out.
The river inside is shaped like a Bagua formation and it is also the only river. There is a pavilion in the middle. It is a great place to take a rest and enjoy the scenery.
Chengkan is located in Huizhou District, Huangshan City. It is the first Feng Shui village with a history of 1,800 years. The ancient village is very beautiful. There is a Tai Chi lake at the entrance. There are many wisteria flowers on the lakeside, which are particularly beautiful against the white walls and black tiles. After that is the village built according to the Eight Diagrams. Someone at the entrance claimed that he could see the whole village from the upstairs of his house, but we ignored him... The roads in the village are complicated. I guess we can't get out without a tour guide... Then the disadvantages are that the tickets are too expensive and the road at the entrance is too narrow. It feels that it has not been planned well...
Chengkan Village, praised by Zhu Xi as "the double virtuous village of Chengkan, the first village in Jiangnan", is located at the southern foot of Huangshan Scenic Area, a world natural and cultural heritage (29°55′N, 118°15′E; five kilometers northeast of the Foziling section of the road from Huizhou District to Huangshan), 40 kilometers north of Huangshan and 15 kilometers south of Yansi Town, the seat of Huizhou District Government. Chengkan is located among green mountains and bamboos, integrating natural and cultural landscapes. The ancient name is Longxi, and it was originally under the jurisdiction of She County, the capital of Huizhou. It is now under the jurisdiction of Huizhou District, Huangshan City (formerly Xixiang, She County). At the end of the Tang Dynasty, cousins Luo Tianzhen and Luo Tianzhi from Nanchang Prefecture, Jiangxi Province, moved their family to She County, "selected a place 40 miles northwest, named Longxi, renamed Chengkan", and "built a house and lived there" (Preface to the Luo Family Genealogy by Zhang Xu of the Yuan Dynasty). Since the Song Dynasty, Chengkan has seen the rise of Huizhou merchants, and prosperous cultural and educational undertakings, making it unique in the development of Huizhou culture and history.
It's a completely different feeling from Hongcun. I also tasted Mao tofu here and hugged a big pillar worth hundreds of millions. Hehe
Highly recommended, must go, must go, must go, I don't want to say anything else, must go!
The scenery is pretty good, but you have to go when there are fewer people. It's nice to listen to the stories told by the villagers.
It’s a pretty nice town. It is said that the movie “I’m A Singer” was filmed here. The tour guide said it is more beautiful here in summer.
I like Chengkan Bagua Village very much. The old buildings are well preserved, the scenery is beautiful and it has an antique charm.
Chengkan, formerly known as Longxi, was originally under the jurisdiction of She County, the capital of Huizhou. It is now under the jurisdiction of Huizhou District, Huangshan City (formerly Xixiang, She County). At the end of the Tang Dynasty, the cousins Luo Tianzhen and Luo Tianzhi from Nanchang Prefecture, Jiangxi Province, moved their family to She County. They "selected a place forty miles northwest, named Longxi, and renamed it Chengkan", and "built a house and lived there". Chengkan has recently become famous because of the Mango TV show "Idols Are Coming". The ticket to Chengkan is 107 yuan, which is a bit expensive. The price on Tongcheng is 87 yuan, and students and people aged 60-69 are half price. In general, Chengkan has a similar layout to most of the ancient villages in Huizhou. The last Luo Dongshu Ancestral Hall is the highlight. If you follow the tour guide, you will miss several attractions, such as Changchun Society, Longxing Bridge, etc. If you have enough time, it is better to go around by yourself, just don't get lost.
1. Chengkan is not very popular, so it is quite interesting. I went there during the National Day holiday and felt that the customer flow was similar to that of other famous places on ordinary days.
2. The beauty of ancient villages can only be reflected in their tranquility. The village has a strong atmosphere of life and is not heavily commercialized.
3. Chengkan is an ancient Bagua village. The village has done extensive research on the Book of Changes, and its cultural heritage can be imagined.
4. One downside to Chengkan is that the tickets are a bit expensive, the full ticket costs more than 100~
The staff at the bus station tricked people into taking her bus
This is a very interesting ancient village. The gossip alleys really test people's ability to recognize the road. I think I am the best at remembering the road, but I didn't expect to be here. Maybe I was too careless and didn't remember the landmarks of each turn. A little negligence would bring disastrous consequences. Finally, I asked the local villagers to lead me out of the village.
Listen to the ancient culture of Huizhou and see the well-preserved ancient buildings of Huizhou
Chengkan is called Bagua Village. The eight mountains are arranged according to the innate Bagua, and Longxi River flows through the village in an S shape. There is a threshold at the entrance to the village with two monsters on both sides. This means that if you cross the threshold, you will have no obstacles in your life. The tour guide also suggested that you touch the monster's mouth, saying that it can absorb the bad luck.
There were only a few tourists in Chengkan, much fewer than in Hongcun. We hired a tour guide, but the guide spoke too fast and we were forced to follow him without having time to think carefully. But we would have gotten lost without the guide.
However, with a cursory understanding of Chengkan's history and architecture, old people fanning and joking in the streets, children walking freely back and forth in the village, and the simple folk customs make people want to stay and appreciate them carefully.
Walking in Chengkan Village, green moss has left traces on the doors and walls of every house. Some walls have some vertical gray lines, which must be the traces of rain over the years. Walking in the deep alleys between the high horse-head walls, it seems that I can see the figures of the graceful, elegant and ancient Huizhou women who used to walk through the alleys. Thinking of the people and things in those long-gone times, one can't help but imagine.
It turns out that it is very necessary to find a local resident to take you around the village. There are many small alleys in Chengkan, and it is easy to get lost if you walk by yourself, or you will keep circling in one place and cannot get out.
