🚗It is quite convenient to get to Tianqiao Deyun Club, the oldest place where Guo Degang made his fortune, from Beijing West Railway Station. Take Line 7 to Zhushikou Station Exit C, and walk 700 meters south. Let's put aside the branches of Deyun Club in other provinces and even Melbourne for now. There are many branches of Deyun Club in Beijing. Huguang Guild Hall, Guangde Building, and Sanqing Garden are all concentrated in the Qianmen area. The atmosphere of crosstalk and folk art here is even stronger with the old alleys next to it. The farthest one is Deyun Club in Sanlitun, but I think it is better to come to the "headquarters" in Tianqiao to watch the old crosstalk, as if you can vaguely see the past of Guo Degang sweating and working hard on this stage more than ten years ago.

Deyun Club is well-known, so it is not difficult to sell tickets. Especially with online ticketing systems such as Damai, outsiders no longer have to try their luck to pick up the remaining tickets at the scene when the performance is about to start. The "Today's Sold Out" sign at the ticket office always stands there like a sentry. The evening shows on weekdays and the afternoon and evening shows on weekends can be said to be full. Deyun Club is closed on Mondays and has no performances. On the other six days, there is a performance at 14:00 and 19:30 respectively. The afternoon shows on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are special performances for storytelling. All night shows and weekend afternoon shows are special performances for crosstalk with funny and supporting roles. In the crosstalk special performances, there are 6 pairs of crosstalk actors in each show, and the duration varies from about 2.5 hours to 3 hours.

The ticket price of Deyun Club is very low in the performing arts market. Each square table can seat six people. The two square tables in the middle of the first row are 200 yuan each, and the square tables on both sides are 150 yuan each. The square tables on both sides of the second row are 100 yuan each. There are 80 yuan and 60 yuan seats in the back row, and 40 yuan seats in the last row. There are three boxes on each side of the second floor, and three boxes at the farthest front of the second floor. Each box costs about five or six hundred yuan and can accommodate five or six people.

The location where I took the photo was at the front of the 100 yuan ticket, which provided you with three hours of fun, which was very worthwhile. Tianqiao Deyun Club does not allow food and drinks to be brought in. It is unacceptable that you must open your bag for inspection upon entry. This is not to check for dangerous goods, but just to prevent you from bringing in water and food.

👉 Let's talk about the supporting services. The cheapest tea is 90 yuan per pot with unlimited refills, and melon seeds and peanuts are all 20 yuan per plate. Of course, you can choose not to order them. On many review websites, many people have expressed dissatisfaction with Deyun Club's sky-high prices. In fact, after objective analysis, I also understand Deyun Club's behavior.

The Tianqiao Theater of Deyun Club is not actually in the Tianqiao Theater... Anyway, the environment is really average. The show effect is still good, but it is indeed not as hilarious as the one I saw in Harbin. I personally speculate that being under the emperor's feet still limits the performance of some jokes.

When I was in Beijing, I often went to the Deyun Club small theater to listen to crosstalk. The only time I went there was when I saw Yue Yunpeng and Sun Yue. Boss Guo rarely performed here.

It was renovated from the Tianle Theater which was built in 1933.

Personally, I suggest buying tickets in advance online and picking the cheapest one, but make sure to do it early, otherwise the cheap ones will be picked up by others. You can also buy them on the spot. The lowest price starts at 200. If the ticket seller says there are 200, 300, 500, or 800, don't listen to him, just pick the one with the lowest price. This is my personal suggestion and for reference only.

Finally, I was morally blackmailed and bought an admission ticket for 200 yuan. I struggled for a long time about whether I should go in and listen. After all, there were no big names, so was it worth the price? First, you should know that if there were big names, the price would not be this high. Second, you should know that even if the younger generations performed just as hard, third, you should know that as long as you listen, there will be laughter.

Deyun Club has several performance venues. We chose Tianqiao Theater. If you have friends who choose the same place, you can take a bus to Tianqiao Station and then walk in the direction of the Natural History Museum. It is across from the Natural History Museum and is easy to find. We booked the afternoon show. There is also a night show, which starts at 7 o'clock and lasts 2 and a half hours. Everyone should arrange their time well. I remind everyone that all outside food and bottled water are prohibited from being brought in.

I just pass by every time and have never really gone in to enjoy it.

This place is a must-visit when you come to Beijing. If you like crosstalk, listen to Deyun Club. It doesn’t matter if you can’t buy tickets, scalpers will help you.

I booked them on Damai.com a long time in advance. You have to queue up to go to the bathroom after the show. I suggest that everyone should not go after the show, otherwise they will rush you. It's completely different to come to the theater to listen to crosstalk live after work than to watch it on the Internet or TV. Feel the old Beijing Tianqiao, listen to crosstalk, have fun, and be happy.

I watched the performance of the Sixth Team at Huguang Guild Hall today. The Nine-character and He-character generations are all good! Guan Jiuhai, Sun Hebao, and Cao Jiutai are all good! I like it very much. It's the first time I've seen crosstalk up close. It's really good!

Now the waiter only refills water for customers who ordered tea, and doesn't care about those who bring their own cups. He is quite snobbish. Everyone has spent money to buy tickets to support the performance, and this is not the way to treat guests.

I didn't have high expectations, but after listening and laughing, the three-hour show passed by. Some couples performed well, especially the allegro in the picture below.

After the show, I called an Uber using Baidu Maps and a driver accepted the order quickly. Because they gave me a 20% discount, the fare was only about 20 yuan, which was acceptable. It would be too painful to squeeze into the bus and take the subway in the middle of winter at night.

The Deyun Club in Guangde Building does not have the atmosphere of other Deyun Clubs. It was clearly not like this when I booked it online. It was clearly the same as other Deyun Clubs online. Alas, I was deceived by the Internet.

Parking at the door is a little difficult. The theater is not big and can accommodate a small number of audiences, which is convenient for interaction between the stage and the audience.

There are private rooms on the second floor surrounding the stage, and scattered seats on the first floor, all with refreshments. Listening to crosstalk and drinking tea is quite a lively experience.

I went to the underground overpass to appreciate books. It only cost RMB 10. I made a pot of tea and listened to the masters talk about books for several hours. I felt it was worth it.

To experience the old Beijing, you must listen to a crosstalk show. A crosstalk show has about 6 or 7 performances and lasts for about two hours.

Before I left, I booked a ticket for Deyun Club's crosstalk show. The one in Tianqiao is the old one. I heard that the business is so good that they opened a new one. But after listening to it, I can only say that it's just okay. The old man's performance is better, while the younger generation is much worse.

Tianqiao is a landmark of old Beijing, and it has appeared in many crosstalks and movies. But now it is almost impossible to see the flavor of the past, and it is a place in Beijing that is still developing.

The location is right at the overpass. Because of Guo Degang he became famous, but now the place is being demolished and it's quite messy.
