Weiming Lake

未名湖

Weiming Lake is the largest artificial lake on the Peking University campus and one of the landmark landscapes of Peking University.
There is a sculpture of a stone fish with its tail turned upside down in the southern part of the lake, an island in the center, a stone boat at the south end of the island, a bell pavilion, Linhu Pavilion, Temple of the Goddess of Flowers and the tomb of Edgar Snow on the south bank of the lake, and Boya Tower on the east bank.
The lake used to be supplied with water by the Wanquan River. The area around Weiming Lake was part of Shuchun Garden in the Qing Dynasty. Emperor Qianlong once gave the garden to his favorite minister Heshen.
The significance of Weiming Lake to Peking University seems to be the same as that of the Han and Tang dynasties to China. In addition to its inherent beauty, it has become more of a symbol of cultural significance.

In the dead of winter, the Weiming Lake was covered with thick ice. Although there was no lake light or tower shadow, it was still quiet and far away. From time to time, people would go to the shore of the ice rink to play for a while, and Mijiu and I would also join in the fun. With the yellow dead grass and dead trees in the background, it would give the illusion of late autumn.

While skating and looking at the happy fat birds around, the quiet and leisurely atmosphere suddenly makes people envy the students studying here.

The dream place for thousands of Peking University students.

When the weather is fine, take a walk around the Peking University campus. There are both ancient buildings from the last century and new modern designs. When you are tired, find a bench by the Weiming Lake to sit, enjoy the lake view, and play with wild ducks. Willow branches all over the lake flutter in the wind, and the warm sunshine shines all over the ground. The wild ducks in the lake don't seem to be afraid of strangers, and often step on the shore. There are a few duck calls and a few gusts of wind from time to time. It's not hot, and you can spend an afternoon in the sunshine.

Weiming Lake and Yanyuan are both code names for Peking University. These names are so poetic. The lake and the tower are beautiful.

Do you know the "One Tower and One Lake" map of Peking University?

The famous Boya Tower, Weiming Lake and Peking University Centennial Library.

By Not a rich and beautiful woman |

On the shores of Weiming Lake, many writers and scholars have talked about the beautiful mountains and rivers of the motherland, many have jumped into the lake to express their ambitions, and many have felt that their talents were not recognized.

The most famous attraction on the Peking University campus is Weiming Lake. Weiming Lake is very large, equivalent to a large park, and there are many tourists.

The autumn of the ancient capital and the autumn of the north are all condensed in this bay of lake water, accompanied by the mandarin ducks and wild ducks playing on the shore, the koi swimming in the water, the reeds swaying on the isolated island in the lake, the wind blowing the reeds and the dew tower, and the maples also taking the opportunity to sing - Good autumn, good autumn.

The beauty of the Weiming Lake at Peking University in autumn attracts countless people to visit and experience the humanistic spirit and atmosphere of China's earliest university.

By Eye Color Mirror |

The reflections on the shore of Weiming Lake are picturesque and lush, like a piece of moist Hetian jade, lying there quietly.

Although Weiming Lake has no name, many celebrities have emerged from this unknown world. Only the trees here can bear witness to the history and depth of this lake.

Peking University’s Weiming Lake is a spiritual symbol of Peking University. If you come to Peking University and don’t visit Weiming Lake, it seems like you haven’t been to Peking University.

Weiming Lake is the largest artificial lake in Peking University, with pleasant scenery. It is a good choice to enjoy the beautiful scenery while reciting poems.

By Avenmark |

It takes about 10 minutes from the southeast gate of Peking University to Weiming Lake. There are road signs all the way there, so it's easy to find. Because it's winter and the lake is frozen, many people go up there to take pictures. I went up there too, but be careful because it's a little slippery when you step on it, otherwise you'll hit your head. Not far away is the lake where the ice has melted and there are small fish swimming around, so I'm still a little afraid that the ice will crack and I'll fall into the water.

The largest artificial lake on the Peking University campus. The area around Weiming Lake was part of Shuchun Garden in the Qing Dynasty, and Emperor Qianlong gave the garden to his favorite minister Heshen. In 2001, "Weiming Lake Yanyuan Buildings" was listed as a national key cultural relic protection site. Since then, students have called Weiming Lake, Boya Tower, and the library "One Tower and Lake Map".

Weiming Lake is the white moonlight in the hearts of many students.

The stars shine brightly beside the Weiming Lake, and the first thing that comes to mind is Peking University.

Weiming Lake is not the most beautiful place, but it stands out in the spiritual world of Peking University students with its humanities. An old alumnus of Peking University uses "Weiming Lake" as his WeChat name. He graduated from Peking University. I believe that he often came to Weiming Lake to study. After graduation, he became a professor at Wuhan University. Later, he went to Dunhuang to protect Mogao Grottoes with his beloved wife, Ms. Fan Jinshi, and opened a new era of major discoveries in the northern area of Mogao Grottoes. But this spring, he suddenly left his beloved wife due to years of hard work!

Weiming Lake is more like a mother, looking into the distance waiting for her child to return!

Peking University's Weiming Lake, where many historical figures have walked. The lake itself is nothing to see. I think the purpose of coming here is to connect with history.

By LErick |

The Weiming Lake, the Boya Tower and the library are nicknamed "One Tower and One Lake" by Peking University students.

Although a university is not about having big buildings but about having great masters, the broad scene of Peking University with a lake on the campus is undoubtedly beneficial for cultivating broad-minded talents.

Of course I have to say something good about my own school, hahaha. The story of Weiming Lake is always talked about by my seniors, which reminds me of the romance and warmth of college life. Peking University is both literary and elegant. I like the culture of Peking University very much. Every scene has a story, and every shot is a painting.

Weiming Lake is very beautiful, just as described in the article I read in high school. The sun was shining that day, and the reflection of the Boya Tower was clear and vivid.

Peking University is a very poetic and picturesque university. Walking here makes me feel a little cultured. The air is fresh and the students are all on their way to the next teaching building.

Wuming Lake is an artificial lake located in the center of Peking University campus. It is the most beautiful scenery in Peking University campus. There is a Boya Pagoda similar to the appearance of a stupa around Wuming Lake, as well as some simple pavilions and the tombstone of American writer Edgar Snow. Visitors who come to visit China's top university will see the charm of Wuming Lake.

By Honey Date |

A Quiet Place

Flowers blooming

Most people who come to Peking University probably come to see Weiming Lake. The first time I went there was when I was still in college. I thought it was the most beautiful lake I had ever seen. The sky was particularly blue that day, and the lake was also reflected in the blue, with rippling water, which was very intoxicating.

It is the lakeside of Beida. The scenery is pretty good, but it may be related to the season. It was dead silent when I went there.

By MKTH856 |

Walking through a lush path, a lake surrounded by lotus flowers comes into view. This is the legendary Weiming Lake. From the introduction of Weiming Lake, we can see the original ingenuity of building this university.

By Little D's story |

A must-see attraction in Peking University. It is recommended to walk along the north side of the lake, where you can pass by the lotus pond, overlook the Boya Tower, and go around to the stone boat on the island in the middle of the lake (the south side of the lake pales in comparison in terms of vision and architecture). Peking University is a university with a lot of heritage, which can be seen from the architectural style on campus. The existence of Weiming Lake is the finishing touch, adding a lot of vitality to the campus. It is said that many well-known professors like to meditate by the Weiming Lake early in the morning~

By Time and Her |

Do you remember me by the Weiming Lake? Everything is too bleak in winter, so summer should be a good place to read and talk about love.

By Sea Breeze Boat |

Weiming Lake is a small lake in the Peking University campus. It is named because it has no name. The scenery is pretty good. There is also the tomb of Edgar Snow by the lake.

Weiming Lake: An artificial lake on the Peking University campus, one of the university's landmarks.

By Desert Baby 008 |

The afternoon sun shines lazily, and the Weiming Lake is beautiful against the light.

By scbli |

Peking University is also a very beautiful garden. When spring and summer come, you can see flowers blooming everywhere. The most beautiful thing about Peking University is the Weiming Lake. The lake is not big, and there are trees planted around it. After the leaves fall in winter, only branches are left, and new buds sprout again in spring.

The lake is very calm and the water is blue. It is a great pleasure to sit quietly on the shore and daydream or bask in the sun.

Students at Peking University are so blessed to be able to study in this Feng Shui treasured land and stroll along the lake in the evening. It is such a romantic thing.

By Prawns |

I recommend going there in winter if you have the chance. The frozen lake is very beautiful. Especially in the south where people rarely see snow and ice. :)

By Tai Chi Pisces |

Weiming Lake is embraced by Weiming North Road and Weiming South Road. Going east along the North Road and strolling along the lake, you can experience the beautiful charm of Weiming Lake. The wind blows without leaving a trace, but the water surface is shimmering. The trees around the lake are lush and green. In spring, the trees are yellow, in summer, they are dense, and in autumn, they are golden and brilliant. Each season is different, but the charm of Weiming Lake will not change.

By Momo~ |

Weiming Lake doesn't seem very big. I just visited the Summer Palace, so I didn't feel much about it. However, there is such a place in the school, which is quite quiet.

By Close your eyes and smell the flowers |

You need to register to enter Peking University. The Weiming Lake in Peking University is not just a puddle as some people say, it is actually quite big!

By Ryoguchi Itsuki |

After getting off at the "East Gate of Peking University", we walked from the East Gate to the West Gate. This route can be said to pass through the most core and oldest area of Peking University. In addition, it was morning and our physical strength was much better than yesterday evening's tour of Tsinghua University, so we were able to visit it more attentively.

Sitting by the Weiming Lake, listening to the sound of people playing musical instruments on the rockery on the island in the lake, my whole body and mind felt relaxed.

By Sir@Prince |

The banks of Weiming Lake are the center of Yanyuan's scenery, with small bridges and flowing water, bell pavilions and island pavilions, flowing water corridors, and flying eaves and fans.

Weiming Lake nourishes spiritual landscapes, making this place exude eternal charm.

If we give these numerous landscapes human nature, the bell pavilion would be like a graceful and delicate girl, and the library would be like a majestic and imposing young man.

The Boya Tower is like a weathered old man, standing silently by the lake, watching the changing weather.

The locked tower door, like the old man's closed heart, contains the long years of his life.

The weathered Boya Ancient Tower was originally a water tower.
