After eating and drinking enough in Xisha Bay and cleaning up the trash, we went to our next destination, Chongwu Ancient City. Chongwu Ancient City is very close to Xisha Bay and can be reached in five minutes by car.

In addition to the remains of the Ming Dynasty wall where General Qi Jiguang fought against Japanese invaders, the ancient city of Chongwu actually has a Chinese Stone Sculpture Art Expo Park. The various lifelike semi-finished stone sculptures on both sides of the road from Quanzhou are breathtaking, and it is worthy of being the hometown of stone sculptures!

But I have been here once, so I didn't go to see the stone carvings. I went directly to the old town in the ancient city to experience the authentic ancient city. The walls of Chongwu are all made of granite, which is quite strong. There are also artillery platforms. Looking at the sea from there is really quite impressive.



The gate of Chongwu Ancient City looks more like the gate of a village. It should have been the garrison of the Ming army back then, right?

The Chongwu Ancient City Tourist Scenic Area refers to the beach attraction outside. Tickets are required. Locals do not recommend you to go! It is better to go to the ancient buildings + city walls in the ancient city!

The locals still live in the city, and the city gates, roads, and walls still stand here! In the past, there were Chongwu Ancient City, Jingfeng Liancheng Ancient City, Xiaoqi Ancient City, etc.! Only Chongwu Ancient City remains! Let the government pay more attention to it...

Take the bus directly to Quanzhou Passenger Transport Center, and then buy a ticket to Chongwu at the ticket office, 15 yuan per ticket. Just follow the instructions to get on the bus when there is one. The journey takes about 1 hour and you will arrive at Chongwu Passenger Transport Center. Transfer to No. 221 at the station to Chongwu Ancient City. Please note that the last bus from Chongwu to Quanzhou is 6.10, so control your time! !

You can walk along the city wall to this small doorway, which should be for the convenience of residents to enter and exit, but the city walls are all connected, which means that there is no ticket to enter the scenic area from here (evil smile bee) I remember that there is a bus stop here, and the rest is up to you.

On the city wall, I found that many restaurants were selling fish rolls. With the mentality of having to try it if I haven't eaten it before, let's go! Later, I chatted with the boss. The fish rolls are mainly made of mackerel meat, with celery starch pork, etc. It is very nutritious and can be eaten in many ways. It is rolled up for easy carrying. It can also be purchased on WeChat.

If you have enough time, I recommend you to visit Chongwu Ancient City. Although you can't go to the sea in summer, it's still very refreshing to feel the sea breeze and listen to the sound of the waves. You can see the most traditional way of life in the ancient city, where people live a traditional and simple life.

Chongwu Ancient City is one of the ancient garrisons, but it is perhaps the only one that has been developed. Apart from an ancient city wall, the rest are man-made landscapes, which seem superfluous in front of the natural scenery of the seaside. The statue of the fishing girl at the entrance has some regional characteristics, but the large number of zodiac statues afterwards are simply useless.

Before setting off, I muttered to the navigation: "Chongwu Ancient City? It sounds like an antique commercial street!" As a result, my local friends ruthlessly laughed at me: "This is the most complete Ming Dynasty stone city in China. The anti-Japanese hero Qi Jiguang trained his troops here!" I was so scared that I quickly made up for it: Chongwu Ancient City was built in 1387, made of granite, with a circumference of 2,567 meters, a height of 7 meters, and a thickness equivalent to three of me stacked on top of each other. In short, this is the Ming Dynasty version of the "Great Wall Guard" headquarters!

Previously, I planned to visit Kaiyuan Temple and West Street in the morning and Chongwu Ancient City in the afternoon. Later, I thought it would be better to eat and drink in Quanzhou City, so I temporarily adjusted the itinerary and rushed to Chongwu Ancient City in the morning. Chongwu Ancient City is located on the southeast coast of Hui'an County, bordering the Taiwan Strait. It was built by Jiangxia Hou Zhou Dexing in the 20th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty to resist Japanese pirates. It has a history of more than 600 years and is one of the more than 60 guard castles in China that is still well preserved.

Its name is Chongwu.

The ancient city of Chongwu is different from the ancient cities I usually visit. There are many stone carvings and stone carvings, which are full of historical marks. Walking around and seeing it is a great experience, but I don’t know its hidden history. It’s just a quick visit. After seeing it, I just exclaimed in admiration.

Early in the morning of February 9, we drove to the scenic area of ​​Chongwu Ancient City in Quanzhou. We heard that the beach there is very beautiful. The three biggest attractions of the scenic area are the ancient city wall, stone carvings and the rocks on the seashore. See the pictures for specific landscapes. Hui'an stone carving is a representative of southern stone carving. It is known as "the best in China" and is included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection list. There are 25 scenic spots, with a total collection of more than 500 stone carvings of different artistic styles, some small and exquisite, some huge and magnificent, which are integrated with the ancient city and the sea, and are unique.

The coastline here was selected as one of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Coasts" by China National Geographic that year. There are buses from Quanzhou Passenger Transport Center Station to here, and transportation is very convenient. If you want to see the coast here, you need to buy a ticket to Chongwu Ancient City. The stone carvings inside are not special and can be ignored. Friends with good physical strength can come out from the east and continue east to Daqi. The scenery along the way is also beautiful!

Go to Quanzhou Central Bus Station and take a bus to Chongwu Bus Station, then change to Bus 221.

There are actually two scenic spots.

1. Stone Statue Exhibition, 45 yuan. I think most tourists who enter here are here to see the lighthouse and the boundary between the East China Sea and the South China Sea.

Chongwu is famous for its ancient city. It is the most complete T-shaped stone ancient city in China. It is one of the more than 60 castles built by the Ming government in the vast sea to resist the Japanese invasion and is still well preserved.

Whether you are studying historical geography or geographical history, Quanzhou is a must-visit for the ancient flavor. It is just that Hui'an women and Citong City are both the past of the times. If Xiamen, which is full of petty bourgeoisie complex, is like a beauty camera, then the quaint Quanzhou is like a black and white film camera. It is difficult to see her beauty with a click, and you can feel her flavor by slowly washing it.

Quanzhou is the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, and Quanzhou Hotel is the starting point of the modern foodie road. Starting from the hotel, the route designed by Wuli Lige includes noodles, chicken legs, ginger duck, steak, meat dumplings, and four-fruit soup, agar-agar on the tip of the tongue, various cakes from roadside stalls, and classic snacks. It was just that it suddenly rained when I was halfway there. I sighed to God and said, I don’t want the white suit anymore, please let me finish it. Fujian has the bluest sky in the entire mainland, and Quanzhou has the most delicious snacks in Fujian. You can eat while walking under the blue sky. The taste of Quanzhou only melts in your mouth, not in your hands.

The scenic area is not very valuable, there is only one stone sculpture park, the coastline is also very ordinary, and there are several food stalls in the scenic area. No tickets are required after 6 pm, but the scenic area is very dark, the lighting facilities are very ordinary, and the park is full of locals selling fish rolls. You can go in the opposite direction from the ticket office and walk directly on the city wall, or watch the sunset on the seawall in the parking lot, which is much more beautiful than the park. Chongwu Ancient City is nominally just a section of the ancient city wall, and the 45 yuan ticket is a bit of a rip-off

Tips: Chongwu Ancient City does not charge admission, but the stone carving factory does. We did not go there. Walk along the city wall in the opposite direction of the stone carving factory, and you can go into the ancient city to visit a small gate called Shuiguan Gate. Chongwu means advocating military preparation. Chongwu Ancient City was an important anti-bandit stronghold in the Ming Dynasty. It is a seaside residential village with hundreds of years of history. We first climbed the city wall, walked along the city wall for half a circle, and then went down the stairs next to a temple. Following the guide's explanation, we visited the Haichao Temple, Guandi Temple, the former residence of the fabric poet Huang Wuye and other attractions one by one. It happened that the village was holding a cultural celebration. We watched the residents singing fishermen's songs. It felt like the local cultural bureau was entertaining itself, which was relatively informal.

I think it is surprising that such a small fishing village could produce so many famous people during the Song and Ming dynasties. This may be related to the fact that many scholars and literati fled to the north due to the wars for many years and settled here.

After getting off the Hui'an Railway Station, there is a minibus on the right hand side that goes to the Hui'an Bus Station. It costs 13 yuan per person. From the station, take bus No. 221 to Chongwu Ancient City. It costs one yuan per person.

Standing under the blue sky, listening to the sound of waves, touching the ancient city walls, feeling the free sea breeze, and greeting the Hui'an women passing by, you might mistakenly think this is the city in the sky.

A very ordinary ancient city, with a strong commercial atmosphere. The surrounding seaside is more interesting than the ancient city.

Walking into the ancient city of Chongwu, you will have the illusion of traveling through time and space. The simple and elegant door lintels, the deep and narrow alleys, the ancient and mottled brick walls... In an instant, you will be immersed in the "vicissitudes" full of the warmth of time, and you will feel a kind of stability, endurance, tranquility and peace that you have never experienced before.

There are long-distance buses to the ancient city, and then you can take Didi, or there are tuk-tuks on the roadside that will stop when you wave.

It takes about 40 minutes to get there by Didi from downtown without traffic jams. I went there once with my roommate in the summer when I was in college. It was very sunny and there was no beach, only reefs. I went there again with my boyfriend in the spring and summer of this year. We encountered a beach with coarse sand. The air was very good and there was a performance by a local dance troupe, which was quite lively.

There is no need for tickets at all. Don't be fooled. There is nothing to do except the authentic fish rolls. There are only some stone statues. You can go to the sea in the evening to see it.

You don’t need to buy tickets to visit Chongwu Ancient City. The Tianhou Temple in Chongwu Ancient City is not big, but the stone carvings and wood carvings are extremely exquisitely crafted, fully displaying the characteristics of southern Fujian.

I went there a few years ago and it wasn't very fun. I don't know how it has changed now.

The scenic area is not particularly large, and the area may still be under construction, so the environment does not feel particularly clean.

It costs 15 yuan to take a minibus from the passenger transport center. There are many people on the road and there is no air conditioning when it is hot. The ancient city is very windy. You can see the stone carvings. Don't spend money to take an electric car. It costs 10 yuan for a short distance. It is recommended to go up the city wall from the Shijiujing, walk to the Guandi Temple and go down to the beach stone carving park.

You don't need to buy tickets to go to Chongwu Ancient City. You need to buy tickets for a section of beach and stone carving park outside the ancient city. There are not many things worth seeing in Chongwu. You can walk down the whole circle on the city wall, and there is nothing special in the city.

What impressed me most about Chongwu Ancient City was the enthusiasm of Hui'an women.

When you are close to the entrance, there are many parking fees nearby. If you drive a little further inside, you can actually enter without buying a ticket. When you reach the city wall, drive about 100 meters in the opposite direction of the scenic area entrance and you will see a small gate. You can enter the ancient town for free here. You can park anywhere on the roadside, but there is a fee of about 5 yuan.

Chongwu Ancient City is located on the southeast coast of Hui'an. It is the most complete existing stone-built ancient city and one of the best preserved sea garrisons in the Ming Dynasty. It is about an hour's drive from Quanzhou City, and the ticket is 45 yuan. The last return bus is at 5:40. Walk and see all the way. Although the road in the village is very winding, as long as you pay attention to the road signs, you will not get lost. When passing by the City God Temple, I was attracted by the two stone lions at the door. According to the introduction, it is from the late Qing Dynasty and is a masterpiece that can represent the local bluestone carving skills. The base of the lion on the right is missing a corner, which is the masterpiece of the Japanese devils. At first glance, the verdant color does not look like something from a hundred years ago. But after rubbing it carefully, I found that the knife skills of this pair of lions are very smooth and natural, without any discouragement, and the stone also carries the traces of time and the roundness of time. A hundred years is not too much. There are two old ladies cleaning in the temple, and they are not young.

The ancient city is more interesting than expected. The student ticket is 45 yuan. It is quite big inside. You can walk around the city wall to enjoy both the sea view and the ancient city.

It was a sunny day when I went there. The scenery of Chongwu Ancient City was very nice. I bought the ticket directly on the spot. There were various stone carvings, ancient city walls, and the sea. I could also catch a few small crabs and hermit crabs on the rocks.

The sea in Chongwu Ancient City is much cleaner than the sea in the hotel, but there are more reefs and the waves are not small, which is not suitable for swimming. The sun is very good today, and there are many people walking on the beach, which is very lively. Although the scenery of the sea and sky is not as stunning as that of Phuket at the beginning of the year, it is much better than most sea views in China. The gate of the ancient city is not far from the sea. Looking closely, you can still deeply feel the vicissitudes and majesty that history has brought to this city. The ancient city is not big, and there are many people living in it. It is not a pure scenic spot, but it adds a lot of life. Living in a city so close to the sea, their lives must be closely related to the sea. I really hope to have the opportunity to experience the daily life of ordinary people in this city. I don’t know if I can hear the sound of waves hitting the beach on a quiet night.

We arrived in Quanzhou from Xiamen and stayed in a more lively place next to the ancient city. The development here is quite good and the prices are normal. I bought a bottle of black tea at the door for three yuan. However, when you drive towards the main entrance, some uncles and aunts will stop your car and ask you to park in their parking lot. Fortunately, we walked over at night and saw it. The next day, we ignored them and just bypassed them. Then we went there at six in the morning without tickets. But to be honest, there was really nothing inside, just a beach and some statues. You can walk around it in a short while. Then we walked towards the Stone Village, which is outside the scenic area. If you have time, you should go and see the boundary between the East China Sea and the South China Sea, the boundary between the subtropical and tropical regions, and the special geographical and meteorological points. Overall it's good, with a beautiful coastline. The 45 yuan ticket is not too expensive, but it's a little small, so we finished the tour quickly.

Rather than an ancient city, it is more like a large urban park. You can hardly see the ancientness of it. There are all kinds of stone sculptures added in modern times, and the park staff wear local folk costumes to perform some simple performances.

The sea view is just so-so, the sky is not very blue and the sea water is not clear enough.

Finally, I came out from the north entrance of Nanmen Street and walked a long way to get back to the entrance, so I must communicate with the driver when I go again.

I really don't like this place. It's a rip-off scenic spot. It costs 45 yuan. It's just a stone carving with a beach. I regretted going there. The transportation is not too convenient. I also encountered a road block. I don't recommend it.

Transportation: There is a bus from Quanzhou Passenger Transport Center Station (address: northwest corner of the intersection of Pingshan Road and Quanxiu Road) to Chongwu Station. The journey takes about 1 hour. The drop-off point is not at the regular bus station, but on the main road in the town (the return trip is also at the place where you get off, and you leave when the bus is full). After getting off the bus, you can ask the locals how to get to the ancient city (the journey is not far, about 10 minutes). Of course, you can also take a motorcycle taxi.

Scenery: The scenic area is not big. After entering the park, there is a stone sculpture park with various giant stone sculptures, including historical figures, animals and mythological stories. It is actually quite boring. Although it is known as "one of the eight most beautiful coastlines in China", the beach is indeed very beautiful, and there is a large reef (many people climb up to take pictures, which is actually quite dangerous), but I have seen the sea so much that I don't think it's strange. The scenic area is backed by this stone city (village), separated by a city wall. There is an exit in the middle of the city wall, where you can walk on the city wall (you must leave the scenic area to go up the city wall, and it is a dead end road. You must return to get off the city wall after visiting), and there is also a small Guandi Temple outside the city wall. Of course, there are ticket inspectors at the exit, and you have to check your tickets when you enter and exit (I could enter and exit with my ticket when I was visiting, but I didn't enter the scenic area again after I went out). You can also go out directly and walk around the stone city (actually the local rural area, most of the houses are made of stone, but many are new houses, and the old houses are either collapsed or almost demolished). I personally think it is much more interesting than watching the sea. However, the alleys in Stone City are winding and like a maze. People with poor sense of direction should find a companion to avoid getting lost.
