It was my first time to go on a self-driving tour during the May Day holiday. There were quite a few tourists and I was lucky to find parking. I was very satisfied that there were no entrance fees or parking fees.

The ancient bridge is suitable for viewing from afar or up close. Leaning on the railing, feeling the sea breeze, thinking about history, feeling filled with emotion, and the beautiful scenery. On the unchanging stone bridge, it has stood firm through so many storms. I admire the courage, diligence and wisdom of the ancients.

Taking my parents for a walk on this kilometer-long, nearly thousand-year-old ancient bridge, it feels like traveling back to the Song Dynasty. We see the stone generals, stone towers, and the ups and downs, bumpy, high and low stone roads, the vast sea and sky, and birds flying around in the mangrove nature reserve. Through the cracks in the stones under our feet, we can see the oyster shell bridge foundation, and the big stone statue of the bridge standing at the head of the bridge - the tall, mighty, handsome, and heroic prefect Cai Xiang. He is indeed a great man worthy of our commemoration, praise, and learning!

On the way back, I bought some snacks from a roadside stall to satisfy my cravings. The hot, salty and fragrant oyster pancakes and fruit pineapple slices that had just come out of the deep-fried pan were full of the taste of happiness! Life is so beautiful!

Luoyang Bridge, formerly known as Wan'an Bridge, is one of the masterpieces of ancient Chinese bridge construction. It is located on the Luoyang River in the northeast of Quanzhou, Fujian. It was built in the fifth year of Emperor Huangyou of the Song Dynasty (1053) and completed in the fourth year of Emperor Jiayou (1059), which took six years. The construction of the bridge was very difficult due to the turbulent tides and the wide and fast-flowing river at the bridge construction site. For this reason, a new bridge construction method was adopted, that is, large stones were laid along the center line of the bridge at the bottom of the river to build an underwater embankment more than 20 meters wide and two miles long. Then, bridge piers were built horizontally and vertically on the stone embankment with stone strips, which became the pioneer of the "raft foundation" in modern bridge engineering. This technology was not adopted by Europeans until the 19th century.

When we arrived in Quanzhou, we didn’t go directly into the city. Instead, we went to see the Luoyang Bridge first.

Luoyang Bridge, also known as Wan'an Bridge, is located 13 kilometers east of Quanzhou City. It is a key cultural relic protection site in my country. It is known as one of the four famous bridges in ancient my country along with Lugou Bridge in Beijing, Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei, and Guangji Bridge in Guangdong.

There is a giant stone sculpture of Cai Xiang standing near the north end of Luoyang Bridge. There is a temple and several old trees at the south end of Luoyang Bridge. On both sides of Luoyang Bridge, one is the inner harbor and the other leads to the sea.

The notice stone tablet erected by the Quanzhou Municipal Government in 1996 has no punctuation marks. Perhaps in another hundred years, this stone tablet will also become a cultural relic.

Luoyang Bridge

The oyster-based foundation method of the bridge piers is considered a model of the application of biology to architecture.

The bridge was shrouded in mist and rain, and there happened to be several other tourists holding small umbrellas of different colors.

The bright colors stand out on the long bridge which is generally gray and monochrome.

The bridge piers are all ship-shaped, and there are indeed many oysters growing on them. Are their fixing properties really so magical?

There are stone lions on the bridge railings, from near to far, from clear to blurry, from today to ancient times.

On the way back, I saw several brightly colored wooden boats by the bridge, one in particular was lined up with the bridge-shaped pier.

The blue wooden boat and the boat-shaped stone pier, whether lightly made up or heavily made up, always look good together.

Luoyang Bridge is one of the four famous bridges in ancient China and is the only cross-sea bridge. If you understand it in the sense of crossing the sea today, you are wrong. Most of Luoyang Bridge is located on the mudflats, and oysters are used to strengthen the bridge piers. The boat-shaped bridge piers are not only condensed with silver clam shells, but also the great wisdom of the ancients. Luoyang Bridge is a stone bridge, and the weathered stone slabs, stone piers, stone towers, and stone generals depicted in the bridge send our souls back to the Song Dynasty in a minute. The fishermen who are busy collecting oysters under the bridge may be the same in ancient and modern times.

By Still wanting more |

In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, a large number of people from the Central Plains migrated southward. People from Henan, Heshui and Luoshui moved to Quanzhou and southern Fujian. These people who migrated south saw that the mountains and rivers here were very similar to the old capital Luoyang, so they named this place Luoyang, and Luoyang River was named after it. This bridge was named Luoyang Bridge because it was located on the Luoyang River.

Luoyang Bridge, also known as Wan'an Bridge, is the first large stone bridge in China. It is located at the estuary of Luoyang River at the junction of Qiaonan Village, Luojiang District, Quanzhou and Luoyang Town, Hui'an County. It is one of the four famous bridges in ancient China, along with Lugou Bridge in Beijing, Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei, and Guangji Bridge in Guangdong. It is a masterpiece of ancient Han bridge architecture. When you come to Quanzhou, you must not miss this thousand-year-old bridge.

Admission is free and open all day. Qiaonan Street, Luojiang District, Quanzhou City (south of the bridge) or Caixiang Road, Hui'an County, Quanzhou City (north of the bridge).

Luoyang Bridge, formerly known as Wan'an Bridge, when you hear this name, do you think it is in Luoyang, Henan? Hey, then you are wrong! It is actually located on the Luoyang River in Quanzhou, Fujian, and was built under the supervision of Cai Xiang, the governor of Quanzhou in the Northern Song Dynasty. As for why it is called "Luoyang Bridge", there is an interesting story here. According to legend, when Cai Xiang was selecting the site, he found that the terrain here was similar to a ferry in the ancient capital of Luoyang. In addition, he had a deep cultural identity with Luoyang, so he decided to name the bridge "Luoyang Bridge". This name not only expresses his nostalgia for the ancient capital, but also symbolizes the close connection between Quanzhou and the Central Plains culture.

Luoyang Bridge is the earliest existing cross-sea beam-type stone bridge. It is located on the Luoyang River waterway and is also a famous cross-sea beam-type stone bridge. It is known as the "No. 1 Bridge in the Country" and is one of the "Four Famous Bridges" in ancient times.

The tide receded, leaving deep mudflats. There were a few places where mangroves grew vigorously, and from afar, large tracts of green. The bridge without water was like a fossil of a dragon bone. It had stood for thousands of years. Walking on the bridge felt ups and downs, like entering an ancient painting, and one had to be careful.

Quanzhou Luoyang Bridge, also known as Wan'an Bridge, is a masterpiece of ancient bridge construction, and it is nearly a thousand years old. In ancient times, students from Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangxi had to cross this bridge to go to Beijing for the imperial examination, hence the name Luoyang Bridge. The thousand-year-old bridge is still in use and does not charge admission, so it should be gone.

There is more than Luoyang in Henan, and more than Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei.

Quanzhou also has the Luoyang Bridge, and among the four major bridges in ancient China, it is the only ancient bridge built on the sea.

The other three are the Marco Polo Bridge in Beijing, the Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei, and the Guangji Bridge (Xiangzi Bridge) in Chaozhou, Guangdong.

A very impressive cross-sea bridge, the second batch of national key cultural relics protection units. The Song Dynasty stone bridge built under the supervision of Cai Xiang has raft-shaped piers, which effectively reduce the impact of waves and extend its life. Oysters are cultivated on the piers as an ecological protection. To this day, oysters are still an important industry in the village at the bridge head. Seafood lovers can go there to eat them raw. The bridge is large in scale and long in distance. In the early years, cars could even pass through the bridge, but now it is no longer necessary. Walking across the Luoyang Bridge, you can walk from Quanzhou City to Hui'an County.

One of the three ancient bridges in China, it is definitely a must-see attraction for tourists visiting Quanzhou! You can take bus No. 19 from the city and get off at Luoyang Bridge (South of the Bridge) Station to get here. Luoyang Bridge is the earliest existing large stone bridge across the sea. The details of the bridge also fully reflect the wisdom of the ancients. You can also visit the Cai Xiang Temple on the south bank of the bridge. Luoyang Bridge is very long. I personally think it is enough to walk one way. There is no need to walk back. There are also buses from the north bank of the bridge that go directly to the bell tower. Luoyang Bridge is suitable for coming before dusk and sunset. The view is very wide. If the weather is clear, you can go to the sunset.

By Ken Ho |

When walking closer, the air environment is not very good, but when you arrive, there are many cool places next to it, and it is much more comfortable under the trees. There are some vendors nearby where you can eat seafood (sea urchin fried). The ancient bridge is quite unique.

Luoyang Bridge was built in 1059. I went to see it in 2019, which is also the year of the Pig. What a fate! It’s 960, and the eternal peace is about to be realized.

There is also a large wetland next to it, with many egrets and seagulls.

By grapefruit. |

The interesting thing about Luoyang Bridge is that it was the first time that biology was used. By taking advantage of the fast reproduction and strong adhesion of oysters, a large number of oysters were scattered under the bridge when the bridge was built. This unique idea is truly unique.

The unexpected surprise is that Luoyang Bridge is a good place for bird watching. Many egrets are testing the edge of breaking the law after the tide goes out. Hahahahahaha, so cute.

By BYLWWDSMW |

The pointed part under the bridge is used to reduce the impact of the water flow. There is a pagoda in the middle of the bridge. There are many egrets living in the wetland east of the bridge. The setting sun shines on Luoyang Bridge. I came at the right time. There are several temples and the ancestral hall of Cai Xiang, one of the "Four Masters of Song Dynasty" in the south of the bridge.

The thousand-year-old bridge has witnessed countless ups and downs!

Quanzhou is worthy of being the "Maritime Silk Road" in the past. The Luoyang Bridge is a proof of its glorious past. If you savor it carefully, you can feel the traces of history immersed in it.

By Liu Xuantang |

There is a newly erected statue of Cai Xiang to the north of Luoyang Bridge, and there is an ancestral hall to the north, with two inscriptions next to the ancestral hall. On the way back from the ancestral hall, there are many arcades that look quite old, and there are also several foreign buildings. But these are just side dishes of Luoyang Bridge.

Luoyang Bridge is one of the four famous bridges in my country. The story of its construction is very fantastic and its construction art is even more ingenious.

The boat-shaped piers of Luoyang Bridge all have animal statues facing the sea, and the bridge body is made of huge stone slabs. The entire building was completed in the Song Dynasty. It is hard to imagine how much manpower was consumed in that era. It takes a lot of wisdom and courage to build such a cross-sea bridge.

You can take bus K502 to Luoyang Bridge Sanpailou Station, get off and walk south, walk across Luoyang Bridge directly to Luoyang Bridge South Station and take bus K502 back to the city or to Nan Shaolin, so you don't have to walk back and forth. Overall, Luoyang Bridge is a bit monotonous, but there is a large wetland next to it, and the ecology is still good.

Luoyang Bridge can be said to be the most low-key of the four famous bridges. The water level was a bit high in July and August, which was a bit regrettable.

In the morning, I just arrived at Luoyang Bridge. With the warm sunshine, my heart was particularly warm. Looking at the boats floating on the lake and feeling the breeze, I really wanted to live in this small town for a long time... But with the arrival of small vendors from the surrounding areas, it felt a bit of a disruption to the entire tranquility and harmony. However, Luoyang Bridge is still worth recommending to visit. If you want to get a guide, you can go down along the Luoyang Bridge and walk straight. There is a creative shop called Yuli Tongxing, which has local special handmade stone carvings and some creative small products. The boss is very nice and you can chat with them. There are also some food and drinks on this street. After eating and drinking, you can stroll around the town and see the ancient houses, which is also good, especially the sunset in the evening is also beautiful!

I took an hour's drive to get there. With a thousand years of history, this 800-meter-long stone bridge on the sea is even more extraordinary. The sea was low tide, so I couldn't see the reflection of the Luoyang Bridge in the water, but the beach at sunset also has its beauty.

Luoyang Bridge occupies an important position in the history of Chinese bridges. As for the construction issues, they are too professional, so you can search on Baidu. There are many stone piles in the mud under the bridge. Some people knock and hit them. They are farmed oysters.

Luoyang Bridge, formerly known as Wan'an Bridge, is located at the mouth of Luoyang River in Quanzhou, about 10 kilometers from the city center and can be reached by bus. It was built during the Northern Song Dynasty and presided over by Cai Xiang, the then governor of Quanzhou. Therefore, there is a Cai Xiang Temple in the south of the bridge. Luoyang Bridge is a national key cultural relic protection unit and is known as one of the four famous bridges in ancient my country, along with Lugou Bridge in Beijing, Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei, and Guangji Bridge in Guangdong. The bridge is more than 800 meters long and connects Quanzhou and Hui'an. It was the only way for Guangdong and Fujian to enter Beijing at that time. The biggest attraction of Luoyang Bridge should be its piers. The piers are pointed at both ends to reduce the impact of water flow on the piers. In order to consolidate the foundation stone, my country pioneered the "oyster planting and foundation consolidation method", that is, oysters are cultivated on the foundation stone to make it cemented into a solid mainstay. To this day, we can still see full white oyster houses on the pier stones. Leaning against the railing, it is no longer clear whether Luoyang Bridge connects Quanzhou and Hui'an, or the past and the future.

Luoyang Bridge, formerly known as Wan'an Bridge, was built by Cai Xiang, the governor of Quanzhou in the Northern Song Dynasty. From the fifth year of Huangyou (1053 AD) to the fourth year of Jiayou (1059 AD), it took seven years and cost 14 million taels of silver to build this large stone bridge that spans the river and connects to the sea. It has a history of 2017. What I admire most about this bridge is that as early as the Northern Song Dynasty, our ancestors created a new type of bridge foundation that was not recognized until modern times - raft foundation with amazing perseverance and infinite wisdom. The so-called raft foundation is to throw a large number of stones under the underwater bottom along the central axis of the bridge to form a low stone courtyard connected to the river bottom as the bridge foundation, and then build bridge piers on it. This construction method is a great contribution to the bridge science of China and even the world. In order to consolidate the bridge foundation, a large number of oysters were cultivated under the bridge. The strong adhesion and rapid reproduction of the oyster shells were cleverly used to firmly bond the bridge foundation and the piers into a whole. This is an ingenious "oyster planting method" in the history of bridge construction in the world, and it is also the first precedent in the world to apply biology to bridge engineering. At that time, there was no modern lifting equipment, so the "floating beam erection method" was adopted. The high and low positions of the sea were used to erect large stone slabs on the bridge deck, which showed the extraordinary wisdom of our ancestors in building bridges. The ship-shaped piers are also quite distinctive, which is conducive to water diversion. Luoyang Bridge successfully built the first large stone bridge in the seaport in my country, which is a great innovation in the history of ancient bridge construction in my country. Professor Mao Yisheng, a famous bridge expert in my country, praised it and said: "Luoyang Bridge is the champion of Fujian bridges."

On the day I went there, there were elementary school students from a nearby primary school serving as tour guides, but I was too embarrassed to approach them and let them explain. Later, when we went to Cai Xiang Temple, a tour group came in, and then the elementary school student tour guide came on stage, speaking in a clear and melodious voice, which was great. In the eyes of some tourists, Luoyang Bridge is a unique landscape, and every stone and every carving is worth savoring.

After walking from the north to the south of the bridge, it is recommended not to go back the same way, but to stroll along the south bridge street. The southern Fujian style buildings, Hui'an women's clothing, and ancestral temples on the street are also a sight to behold. It would be a pity not to visit the Caigong Temple.

The best time to get there is around 4pm, when the tide is out. The scenery under the bridge is beyond words: the setting sun shines on the mudflats, large tracts of mangroves sway in the wind, egrets are foraging, and fishermen are planting oysters.

Luoyang Bridge is built entirely with stone slabs. There is an anecdote about the construction of the bridge. You can learn about it when you visit. It is quite interesting.

Quanzhou Luoyang Bridge is a masterpiece of bridge construction in the Song Dynasty. It is located on the Luoyang River in the northeast of Quanzhou. The bridge is more than 700 meters long, 4.5 meters wide, and has 46 piers. The Luoyang Bridge is built entirely of huge stones, and the bridge deck is paved with long stone slabs. It has a solid structure and beautiful shape, and has a very high level of bridge engineering technology and art. Take bus No. 19 from the city to the terminal Qiaonan Station, and go southeast through Qiaonan Village for about ten minutes to reach the bridgehead; go up the bridge and visit the stone bridge to the northeast, while enjoying the mangroves and egrets next to it. At the easternmost end is the giant stone statue of Cai Xiang.

Wan'an Bridge is also called Wan'an Bridge because it is known for its long-lasting peace. It is one of the four famous bridges in China. It was first built in the Song Dynasty. A major earthquake in the Ming Dynasty shook off the stone slabs on the bridge. The current bridge deck was also rebuilt at that time. There is a sign on the bridge that says that motor vehicles are not allowed to pass, but many people still ride motorcycles on the bridge. The bridge foundation is full of oysters, as if they are used to stabilize the bridge foundation.

Luoyang Bridge is the oldest existing large sea-crossing beam-type stone bridge in my country.

Formerly named Wan'an Bridge, it was built under the supervision of Cai Xiang, the governor of Quanzhou, from the fifth year of Huangyou to the fourth year of Jiayou in the Northern Song Dynasty (1053-1059).

Luoyang Bridge should be in Luoyang, Henan. Why is it named Luoyang Bridge? According to relevant records, as early as before the Tang and Song Dynasties, Yue people lived in Quanzhou. In the early Tang Dynasty, due to social unrest and frequent wars, a large number of people from the Central Plains migrated south. Most of those who migrated to Quanzhou and southern Fujian were from Henan, Heshui and Luoshui. The language used in Quanzhou and even the entire southern Fujian region is called Heluo, which is now called Minnan dialect. These people from the Central Plains brought advanced and developed agricultural technology and experience from the Central Plains, and guided the local people to open up and develop. They came to Quanzhou and saw that the mountains and rivers here were very similar to the ancient capital of Luoyang, so they named this place Luoyang, and this bridge was named after it.

Quanzhou Luoyang Bridge, also known as Luojiang Bridge, is far from the city. It was built in the fifth year of Emperor Huangyou of the Song Dynasty (1053) and completed in the fourth year of Emperor Jiayou (1059). The bridge is 834 meters long and 7 meters wide, with 46 piers, all built with huge stones. A large number of oysters are also cultivated under the bridge. It seems that the ecological environment of oysters is used to protect and stabilize the bridge pillars?

It was a pity that when we arrived at Luoyang Bridge, the sun had just set and night had fallen. After sunset and before the lights came on, Luoyang Bridge was not as beautiful as in the pictures on the Internet, but walking from one end to the other, looking at the high-rise buildings of the city on one side and the endless river and sea on the other, there was a kind of entanglement and impact of traveling through time. This stone bridge across the river and connecting the sea has witnessed too many years. Walking slowly on the stone bridge, it seemed like walking for so long. Luoyang Bridge, also known as Wan'an Bridge, has the bridge-building techniques of "raft foundation" and "oyster planting solid foundation method", which are all good stories in the history of Chinese bridge building.

The two most famous bridges in the area are Anping Bridge and Luoyang Bridge. If you have to choose one due to time constraints, I personally recommend Luoyang Bridge. Take bus No. 19 in the city, and on the way back, you can also take bus No. 19 to Guandi Temple to see the night view and eat Chengcai steak.

On the way to Luoyang Bridge, I felt like I had traveled back to the 1970s and 1980s. Are there any fonts that belong to that era?

An ancient bridge, the history behind it is fascinating. In the past, people walked through this bridge to enter Quanzhou. Many people came to play and passed by!
