Tianluokeng Tulou is one of the must-visit attractions of Nanjing Tulou, commonly known as four dishes and one soup. You can also go inside the earth building, walk on the wooden corridor at night, and you can clearly hear the voices of people and TVs in the room.

I really like the Tianluokeng Tulou Group. Firstly, after visiting Huaiyuan Tower and Hegui Tower, I can see the Tulou Group from a different perspective. Secondly, I found the most cost-effective photo-taking and check-in opportunity at the viewing platform. 10 yuan per photo, and all electronic photos are given away. One is that there is a legend that when the Jade Emperor came to investigate the sufferings of the people, the God of Land prepared four dishes and a soup to entertain him. After the Jade Emperor left, the God of Land forgot to clean up, so the food was left in the human world.

One story is that when an American satellite saw this place, it thought it was a missile base. Because there was smoke at all three meals (the smoke from the villagers’ cooking), the dish was named Four Dishes and One Soup.

Tianluokeng is inhabited by people with the surname Huang. It is said that Huang Xigui and his son Huang Baisanlang fled here from Luoyang, Henan, and made a living by raising ducks. As their family was poor, they raised a lot of snails in the mountains to feed the ducks. The ducks would lay double-yolk eggs after eating the snails, and Tianluokeng got its name from this.

Huang Baisanlang married five wives, each of whom gave birth to seven children. Now, those living in Tianluokeng are all descendants of his second wife, and the other children have moved to other cities.

Compared with Hekeng Tulou and Shiqiao Village, this place does have a stronger commercial atmosphere, but I don't think it's a big deal, because the dry goods sold here are all made by the villagers themselves, which is completely different from the Yiwu small commodities in general tourist areas. On the contrary, it is full of life. Sometimes they will invite you into the house for tea. Although they also sell tea, they will still send you off with a smile if you don't buy it.

TIPS: 1. Be sure to go to the observation deck. If there is no aerial photography plane, then the observation deck is the two most beautiful spots. The upper observation deck overlooks, and the lower observation deck looks up.

It's pretty good, but it's a pity that you are not allowed to go up to the Tianluokeng Tulou group, but you can go up to visit the ones in Hekeng.

However, the service in the scenic area is really not good. It is the worst 5A scenic area I have ever visited.

After getting off the high-speed railway station, a local private car will take you to Tianluokeng Scenic Area. The price for two people to share a car is 400 yuan, and you will be taken back to the station after the tour. It is more cost-effective for four people to share a car.

This is my second time to visit the Tulou. It is very unique and worth seeing. Unfortunately, I could climb all the buildings last time, but this time I can only climb the designated one. I understand the need for protection, but it is still a pity.

Going down from the viewing platform, you can enter the interior of the earth building, but you can only take a look around the first floor. Now you can't go upstairs to see it. The residents set up stalls in front of their homes, selling some handicrafts, homemade tobacco, tea and other things.

Four dishes and one soup are unique. A one-day tour from Xiamen to Tulou is OK. It is not expensive or a rip-off.

Nanjing is hard to end

One look at Nanjing is enough to describe it in words.

Compared with the two earth buildings with the word "坑" in their names, Yunshuiyao, whose name is as beautiful as a painting, is more like a pit. However, Tianluokeng, which looks like a missile launch base, and Hekeng, which looks like the Big Dipper, are not pits at all. The new style of earth buildings, whether looking up or down, is green and pleasant, and it is moving to say wow, pit pit wow wow.

The beauty of earthen buildings is only seen from a distance. Up close, I am more afraid of earthen buildings that are still inhabited. The beautiful style in "Big Fish and Begonia" is immediately reduced by 20% when placed in front of the chickens, dogs, and sewage. At this time, if an old lady stares at you desperately but speaks only Fujian dialect, the 20% discount becomes a huge discount. To be honest, I admire the brave men who must live in earthen buildings to experience their past and present lives. There is no water, electricity, or toilets. The only thing left is probably love in BC.

Tianluokeng Tulou Group

There is... a small thing to complain about. There is no proper parking lot here. Some parking spaces are on the road, and there is a small... cliff... on the side of the road.

Small but beautiful, "four dishes and one soup", tourists are allowed to enter (am I hinting at Zhencheng Tower and Chengqi Tower...), but the price is that most of it is a restaurant. There are two viewing platforms, both of which are classic camera positions, the upper one is suitable for taking pictures of earth buildings, and the lower one is suitable for taking pictures of terraces. There are several portraits in the earth building that you can pay attention to. It is about the owner of the Huang building who came here to open up the territory more than a thousand years ago. He lived to be more than 80 years old and had at least three long-lived wives, each of whom had... seven... children... For buying golden thread lotus tea, it is recommended to go to the Chuxi Earth Building in the west...

There are two local painting dealers. I added one of them on WeChat. The other dealer’s paintings are basically the same but half the price. I asked why they charge more than the other dealer. He said it’s not like they’re buying vegetables, so they charge the same price for the same vegetables. I said that makes sense.



There are two beverage vendors in the scenic area that left a deep impression on me. One vendor said that its 500ml orange juice was squeezed from 16 small oranges, but the taste was ok and the price was not expensive. The other vendor sold black pepper steak fruit... juice...

If you get up earlier than the bugs in the morning, you can buy tickets... Buy tickets... Buy tickets...

Four dishes and one soup in the Tulou group, there is no other branch except this one. A must-see place when visiting Tulou.

When making a plan, you had to choose between Yongding, Yunshuiyao and Tianluokeng. China-TravelNote studied for a long time and finally chose Tianluokeng. The reasons are: the people are simple and honest, it is very representative, the number of successful world heritage applications is the largest, cars can travel between the three attractions, and it is a non-mainstream popular attraction with few people.

There are upper and lower viewing platforms. The upper viewing platform offers a panoramic view of the four dishes and one soup, and the lower viewing platform offers a panoramic view of the side. For me, these two places are not amazing, but I was slightly shocked by the three scenic spots, especially the crooked building and the spirit of unity of Fujian people.

Three hours is more than enough for a quick tour. (Due to the large number of people during the National Day holiday, parking spaces in the scenic area are tight and traffic restrictions have caused a delay of half an hour.)

It's very famous, and it's really good. If there are not many people, it's worth a visit.

If you come to Tulou, you can’t say you have seen it if you haven’t visited Tianluokeng.

Standing on the observation deck and looking at the Tianluokeng Tulou complex is indeed spectacular.

After entering the Tianluokeng Scenic Area, there are buses that take you to various scenic spots. In theory, the scenic area buses work in shifts and you board the next bus after each shift. However, because it was the off-season, there were only four tourists in the entire Tianluokeng visitor hall, including the two of us, so we were treated as a chartered bus, and the driver waited for us to finish our tour at the scenic spot.

The first point is the famous four dishes and one soup. These five earth buildings were built together, and the latest one is only a few decades old. The interior of each earth building is similar. There are some shops selling local specialties and small handicrafts, and there are some indigenous people inside. You can pay five yuan to go upstairs to take pictures.

The second point is the crooked building. This building has five floors and the maximum inclination angle of the beams and columns is nearly ten degrees, which is quite peculiar.

The famous "Four Dishes and One Soup" is a classic of Fujian Tulou and is also the main representative work of Fujian Tulou's application for World Heritage.

Not far from Yunshuiyao is the famous "Four Dishes and One Soup" in Tianluokeng, which is a square with four circles, one of which is an ellipse. It was shrouded in mist and heavy rain, and I was soaked all over. Finally, I ended my trip to the earth building with a panoramic photo of the "Four Dishes and One Soup".

Tianluokeng is Route A, and Yunshuiyao is Route B. At first, I saw that everyone said that the ticket price was too high and it was not necessary to go to a Tulou. But after going, I felt that it was worth it, after all, it is a world cultural heritage. Buy tickets online in advance, which is 5 yuan cheaper than offline. There is a free luggage storage area at the visitor center. It is recommended to take the scenic spot bus. The three scenic spots are too far away. There is a tour guide on each bus who will explain the history of the Tulou. I learned a lot.

We walked down the steps beside the viewing platform to the village. It was then that I realized that the five earth buildings were not on the same plane. They were arranged in a stepped manner from top to bottom, depending on the terrain. And it was not a so-called plum blossom display. It was just because of various coincidences that the unique view from the upper viewing platform could be seen.

Every earth building here has the same surname, just like a big family. The tour guide took us into the round Zhenchang Building and the square Buyun Building among the five earth buildings. Most of the earth buildings are three-story, and each floor has a unique function. The first floor is the kitchen, the second floor is the storage room, and the third floor is the residence. For fairness, the rooms are allocated vertically.

The scenery is very beautiful both during the day and at night. It is the most beautiful time to have dinner in the village and enjoy the starry sky.

It's thousands of square meters if you take it casually! Wow~ It's hidden~

The advantage of traveling by car is that you can stay in the Four Dishes and One Soup scenic area. In addition to watching from the upper viewing platform during the day, you can also watch the Tulou at sunset, watch the Four Dishes and One Soup at night, and experience the nightlife of the Tulou residents. When night falls on Tianluokeng, any photo you take will be a blockbuster!

The reason why it is called Tianluokeng is because the road leading into the scenic area is winding and like walking on the back of a snail.

First, go to the Tulou Tourist Service Center where there is a ticket office. It is really more than ten kilometers from here to Tianluokeng. In fact, you should not enter from this road. You should follow the provincial road and navigate directly to Tasha Village. After buying a ticket here, you will reach the first scenic spot in Tianluokeng Scenic Area: Tasha Village in one kilometer. Then it is 3 kilometers to Yuchang Building East and West, and another 3 kilometers to Tianluokeng.

The scenery under the tower is very beautiful, it can be said to be a paradise on earth.

In addition, the Hakka dishes served in roadside restaurants are also quite good, and you must order the salt and pepper tea tree mushrooms!

I bought a ticket to Nanjing County in an hour. I changed to bus No. 6 in the yard of the county long-distance bus station and arrived at Nanjing Tulou Visitor Center. It was very quiet, and there was almost no one in the huge visitor center. I bought a ticket for Tianluokeng Scenic Area on Line A at the ticket window for 100 yuan. There were too few sightseeing buses in the scenic area. There was no one to ask, and no useful information.

The four dishes and one soup are really beautiful when you look at them from the high observation deck. The five earth buildings are not big in size and the interior is messy. So it is not recommended to stay in the earth buildings. First of all, it is very troublesome to go to the bathroom at night. In addition, it is very cold in the mountains in March, so air conditioning is still needed. We stayed in the earth building and felt very cold even with the heavy quilt. The lights will be on at night, but I missed it because I was drinking and chatting with other travelers.

I really like this place. We stayed in the Four Dishes and One Soup Building that night. In fact, the conditions are average. We walked around the village during the day. I like it.

When visiting Xiamen, we also visited the Tulou. We visited the Nanping Tulou in the morning and went to the Yongding Tulou in the afternoon. We did not go to the Yunshuiyao Scenic Area because we felt that there was nothing fun in the ancient town.

This place is worth visiting. You can take a car to view the scenic area from above, and then go down the mountain to taste the "four dishes and one soup". After we finished eating and paid, I thought he would ignore us, but he took us to other places. Thumbs up. Fortunately, it was off-season. Parking would be difficult in the peak season. Overall, it was good.

The huge size of the earthen buildings attracts our attention. The large earthen buildings are gathered together and can be combined into a peculiar shape, that is, four dishes and one soup.

The journey here is really not beautiful, and the scenery can only be seen in 3.5 hours~~

Generally, group tours do not go back. You see the distant view from the observation deck, go down the stairs into the village, and then leave the village and turn to the next location~~

During the day, more tourists come to the village to see the earth buildings up close, but at night, only a few tourists can be seen playing in the village.

After the bustle of the day, the Tulou returned to peace at night~~ Compared with the day, I prefer the night and the early morning. Before a large number of tourists arrive, I walk around the village and take a look. It makes me happy~~~

In fact, if you are not particularly fond of Tulou, you don't have to stay here, just take a quick look.

After all, the one-way journey of more than three hours is not beautiful, and it is not recommended for children who are too young to come here~~

Fortunately, some homestays are gradually improving the accommodation conditions here to provide better food and accommodation for travelers.

The Tianluokeng Tulou is more famous because several Tulou form a Tulou group landscape, and you can look down and look up on the highway, and appreciate the Tulou from various angles. It is more appropriate to take pictures of Tulou from a bird's-eye view. When you walk into the village and get inside the Tulou, you feel like you have no idea where to start. There are still people living inside these Tulou, selling tourist souvenirs and local specialties. The first floor is the kitchen, the second floor is for storing food and sundries, and the third floor and above are the bedrooms, but the overall living conditions are still relatively poor, and it is difficult to have a suitable angle to shoot inside. From the lower observation deck, you can look up at the earth building. Since the earth building is built on the hillside, it has a good sense of layering. The hillsides near the earth building have been reclaimed as fields to grow crops, vegetables and tea. There is a lot of tea in Nanping and Yongding areas, most of which is grown on such hillsides. In addition, there are various fruits such as lychees, bananas, grapefruits, persimmons, etc.

The Tianluokeng Tulou Group consists of 5 Tulou, including 1 square, 3 round and 1 oval. The square Buyun Building in the middle was built in the first year of the Jiaqing Period of the Qing Dynasty. Later, Hechang Building, Zhenchang Building, Ruiyun Building and Wenchang Building were built around it. The five Tulou are laid out according to the undulating terrain of the mountain. The scattered earth walls echo the layers of terraces, giving off a fairy-like demeanor of a mountain dwelling. It is said that due to its peculiar shape, it is also a "rocket launch base" in the eyes of Americans. In the early years, the US Central Intelligence Agency speculated from satellite photos that China had hidden a "missile base" in the deep mountains of Fujian.

I like the nature of Tianluokeng. Then it is recommended to drive directly to the upper viewing platform to overlook the panoramic view, and finally drive back to the parking lot at the entrance of the village, enter the interior of the earth building for a visit, and climb from the village passage to the upper viewing platform to see the night view at night. If the weather is right, you can also go to see fireflies. The platform is divided into two layers. If you want to take pictures of the scenery, the lower layer is fine. If you want people to be in the scenery, you can take pictures from the upper layer. It doesn't matter if you come alone. There are local residents in the small shop here who can take pictures and print them on the spot. Ten yuan a piece is not expensive, and the people are all very kind. You can also buy Northeast Daban, which is delicious haha. We also bought a photo because we were embarrassed to let others help take a group photo for free. Help each other when you go out. It's also good to take care of business within a reasonable range. Back to the inside of the earth building group, except for individual tourists who stay here at night, there are no outsiders. The residents in the earthen building were chatting or cooking, and the air was filled with a leisurely and fragrant smell. The sunshine in the morning of the second day was very comfortable, so we climbed up to the observation deck for the third time~ There was smoke from cooking at night and mist in the morning. The beauty of the ancient building really needs to slow down to appreciate it...

You can buy tickets for the Tulou online, which is 10 yuan cheaper than on-site. Remember to pick up your tickets at the visitor center. Don't lose your tickets. They are strictly checked at every checkpoint. The roofs of the Tulou are all made of tiles and are well preserved.

If you have more time, it is recommended to stay overnight in Tasha Village. If you only have one day, you can choose the Yunshuiyao route. There are pure play routes on Taobao.

There is a route with two attractions. I signed up for a one-day tour with two attractions. What a wrong decision. One attraction would have been enough. The earth buildings all look the same. I almost collapsed after 8 hours of round trip. I feel sad when I think about it. Fortunately, Yunshuiyao gave me good memories.

It is indeed very unique, and the folk customs are also good. The whole village is made up of relatives, and generations have settled here. Young people go out to work, and most of the people in the village are older women or married women, and very young children. Just look at the scenery, and knowing more will only increase sadness.
