Nanputuo Temple is a key Buddhist temple in the Han area. If you are ready to pray, you may wish to come here to worship.
The most famous are the vegetarian dishes on the two floors of the vegetarian restaurant and the vegetarian cakes in the temple, which are labeled as the best vegetarian banquet in the world. The average price per person is about 59 yuan.
Wulao Mountain is the back mountain of Nanputuo Temple. It is one of the eight major scenic spots in Xiamen and you can go hiking there.
It only takes about an hour to walk from the temple to Wulao Mountain, and you can also go to Xiamen Botanical Garden from this road.
There are many inscriptions by famous people preserved around the temple. There is a huge stone inscription of the word "Buddha" on the cliff behind the temple, and tourists often come to take photos.

Nanputuo Temple is located at the foot of Wulao Peak in the southeast of Xiamen City, Fujian Province, facing the clear seaport. The main buildings on the central axis of Nanputuo Temple include Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, Dabei Hall, and Sutra Library. On both sides are bell and drum towers, meditation halls, guest halls, and warehouses. There is also Minnan Buddhist College and Buddhist Yangzheng Academy. There is a release pond in front of the temple. In recent years, the "Master Taixu Memorial Tower" was newly built behind the temple. The whole temple is magnificent and orderly, and it is one of the eight major scenic spots in Xiamen. Climb up the stairs along the central axis to the highest Wulao Peak, overlooking Xiamen University and Xiamen City.
On the way, we met a volunteer guide at the temple (at first we thought we were a member of the tour group), a man from Northeast China. He turned his tour guide experience into a crosstalk performance, and the tourists around him couldn't stop laughing.
As the group grew, it seemed that even part of the tour group next door was attracted here...
I can’t really retell what was said, but it was very interesting. I also learned some of the history and stories of the temples (or maybe some gossip). Some attractions that might have been overlooked turned out to have profound meanings. . .
I saw a temple giving out free Spring Festival couplets to tourists.
We also encountered a temple offering free noodle soup to tourists. We only wanted to taste it but were inexplicably forced to eat a large bowl. We squatted at the feet of Master Hongyi and worked diligently for half an hour before we finished it.
This is the first time I have seen such a temple! Why is it so luxurious! I heard that the expanded parts of Xiamen University and the North Village and West Village were all given by Nanputuo!
After listening to the explanation, let’s go hiking.
From the hillside, you can overlook Xiamen University and the twin towers in the distance.
The mountain is not really high, but we felt quite tired after walking a lot in the past two days.
In fact, the view from the top of the mountain is not as good as some places halfway up the mountain.
But isn’t reaching the summit itself one of the ultimate pleasures of mountain climbing?
Next to Xiamen University, Nanputuo Temple was very attractive to us. After some consideration, we decided to worship Buddha first and then go to Xiamen University. From Nanputuo Temple, we can see the Songen Building of Xiamen University. It is so close, I wonder if the students studying in Xiamen University can also be baptized by the Buddha's light from time to time, become more enlightened, and study more easily.
The architecture of the temple is majestic and magnificent, and the statues of gods enshrined in each hall are lifelike, making people want to worship them.
We visited the temple clockwise along the central axis, passing the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Hall of the Great Buddha, the Hall of Great Compassion, and the Sutra Repository. Soon we arrived at the back mountain of the temple. A pool of spring water was filled with various coins thrown by tourists, and the staff had to enter the pool from time to time to clean it. Looking closely, I also found many turtles wandering leisurely in the pool. I don’t know if they were released into the pool by tourists.
I really like the atmosphere of Nanputuo Temple. The tickets are free, incense is given free of charge outside the temple, and couplets written by masters are given. There are also many volunteers. When I went to Thailand before, I was impressed that Thai temples are people's daily spiritual sustenance and faith, while many in our country have become tourist attractions for collecting tourists' money. It is completely different in the quiet Nanputuo. Return to the true nature, and the Buddha is in your heart.
Unlike many people, when others mention Nanputuo, they can think of some Buddhist stories like Northern Shaolin and Nanputuo. Maybe I am a complete 2D game girl. Whenever Nanputuo is mentioned, I always remember that when I was a child, I always liked to choose the big nurse role in Fantasy Westward Journey. But this is just a joke.
Nanputuo is also one of the most important Buddhist temples in the country. Wulao Mountain behind the temple is one of the eight major scenic spots in Xiamen. At a time when many Buddhist temples have become commercialized, Nanputuo is still a clear stream among domestic temples. It does not charge admission fees or any conflict fees. It is rare to see people or businesses selling lighting or praying Buddhist supplies within the temple. Everything is a Buddhist place, and sincerity is the key to success. This kind of Buddhist Zen thought has always been my favorite part of it.
All the buildings within the temple are exquisitely built. They are very elegant. The winding corridors, the numerous halls and pavilions, and the caissons are all made of wood, without a trace of iron nails.
The sound of Buddha is ethereal. If you are fast, you can climb up Wulao Peak to have a panoramic view of the whole Xiamen Island. If you don't have much energy, you can go to the nearby Qingxiang. You can try the most famous vegetables here. The vegetarian food and the vegetarian cakes of the temple can also make you pray for your wishes and make your trip worthwhile.
My overall impression of Nanputuo is green, green mountains, green water, green leaves, and the tower surrounded by all the greenery. Everything is pious and elegant.

Nanputuo Temple is probably the purest temple. The abbot here serves for three years and is dedicated to Buddhism. Incense and candles are not sold here. There is a pile of incense at the door. Visitors can take one of them voluntarily to express their wishes.
Entering the temple, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Main Hall, the Le Tu Hall, the Hall of Great Compassion, the Sutra Repository and so on are arranged in sequence. The architecture of each hall adopts the ancient palace-style double-eaved and flying-ridged roof, matched with light blue glazed tiles, which looks unified and coordinated.
It was the time for chanting sutras. In the main hall, hundreds of monks were chanting sutras. Their expressions were solemn and they all looked upright. The chanting of the sutras was rhythmic and when it reached the climax, the crowd seemed to have entered the world of Buddha, and everyone's thoughts were sublimated.
Going further up, outside the Great Compassion Hall, a man who looked like a lay Buddhist was telling tourists about the Chinese people's Buddhist beliefs. What he said about the mentality and reality of Chinese people's belief in and worship of Buddha seemed to be a common problem for most people. When the lay Buddhist talked about the exciting part, he imitated the voice of Xiamen University professor Yi Zhongtian, shaking his head, looking intoxicated.
As evening approaches, it is time to collect the donation boxes. The monks carry the donation boxes from their respective halls and march towards the unified counting place. Nanputuo Temple does not collect incense money like other temples. After the coins put in the donation boxes by tourists are sorted, except for the daily life of the monks, the rest are all paid for the maintenance of the temple.
Nanputuo Temple is located at the foot of Wulao Peak in the southeast of Xiamen City, Fujian Province, facing the clear seaport. The temple covers an area of 258,000 square meters and has a construction area of 212,700 square meters. Nanputuo Temple faces south and is built against the mountain and facing the sea. It is large in scale and majestic in appearance. The main buildings on the central axis are the Heavenly King Hall, the Mahavira Hall, the Happy Path Hall, the Great Compassion Hall, and the Sutra Library. Among them, the Heavenly King Hall is located at the front of the central axis of the temple. The smiling Maitreya Buddha is enshrined in the middle of the front hall. There is a square in front of the Heavenly King Hall. In front of the square is a square release pond with a length and width of about 30 meters, and a lotus pond about 100 meters long and 70 to 80 meters wide.
Nanputuo Temple is close to Xiamen University, and there are so many people in the temple
There are many volunteers at the entrance of Nanputuo Temple, and there are also several places to donate incense. There are candlesticks that can be lit at the bottom of the steps. This needs to be done outside the entrance of the temple. The buildings inside the temple are very simple and clean.
There is a release pond opposite the temple, with many fish and turtles in it. There is a small vendor at the door selling four small bags of fish food for 10 yuan, allowing children to experience the fun of feeding fish!
Nanputuo Temple is one of the most loving temples in China. First of all, from the perspective of free experience and the rule that stalls are not allowed in the back mountain, it can be seen that this is a tourist attraction that is very out of touch with the current market economy. I really want to give a big thumbs up. It's very good, I like it very much. All the scenery is also very good, and the humanized route arrangement and safety settings are also well done! Buddha is right beside you.
There are many pigeons at the gate of Nanputuo Temple, and they stroll around the temple without any fear of people.
Nanputuo Temple is not very big. After passing through the several large halls in front, the stone forest behind it is not to be missed.
You can climb up the Wulao Peak along the back mountain to overlook the panoramic view of Xiamen, or you can go down the side trail and return to the main hall exit through Puzhao Temple. Nanputuo Temple has a long history, and the entire temple does not have too much commercial atmosphere, giving people a good feeling. The whole tour process takes about 1.5-2 hours.
I heard that the vegetarian cakes here are very delicious, so I came here. No tickets are required, and you can get a free incense stick, which is nice. After entering, I went straight to the vegetarian cakes. There are many flavors. I bought the mung bean and green tea flavors. They are very delicious. The filling is very delicate and not too sweet. The skin is also relatively thin. When I took it home, everyone said it was delicious. There are six in a box, which is quite heavy. If I could carry it, I would really bring a few more boxes.
The air is very good. The mountain behind the temple is Wulao Peak. There is no entrance fee. Free vegetarian food is provided at noon. In addition, stalls are not allowed inside. It feels very good. The only regret is that I didn't eat the vegetarian food inside because I was afraid of wasting it. Later I heard that the vegetarian food in Nanputuo Temple is famous for its delicious taste.
I suggest you buy a few boxes of vegetarian biscuits, they are delicious.
I remember someone on China-TravelNote said that Nanputuo Temple is a conscientious temple. This is so accurate. There are fewer and fewer conscientious temples nowadays. They don’t require tickets and you can get a free stick of incense when you enter.
February 2, Monday, there were so many people. Xiamen, a tourist city, seems to have no distinction between weekdays and weekends. After entering from the main gate, it is not quite the front. There is a big pond next to it. The side is where you can get incense for free. Each person gets one stick of incense. There are some Buddhist buildings around. It looks very solemn. There is a place with incense under the big sign of Nanputuo. I lit the incense and went in to worship.
There are roads on both sides, which are basically open, except for the abbot's small garden. The environment here is very good. There is a mountain all the way up, which is too difficult for people who haven't exercised for a long time.
It took more than an hour to climb to the top of the mountain. You can overlook Xiamen University. There are drinks, ice cream and sausages for sale on the top of the mountain. I ordered a bottle of drink and an ice cream. The ice cream and the drink are the same price, 6Y, which is acceptable considering that people have to carry them up.
Nanputuo Temple is probably the most visited tourist attraction in Xiamen that I have visited in recent days, which shows how popular it is.
Its significance to Xiamen people probably represents a kind of southern Fujian culture, which has become a belief after going through ups and downs.
Unlike many temples, there are no pilgrim guides here who urge you to "burn high incense", but only enthusiastic volunteers.
As soon as you enter, you can see a sign that says "burn incense in a civilized manner", and you can get a stick of incense for free at the entrance. Temples across the country should learn from this.
Tickets are free and can be booked in advance on the Nanputuo Temple reservation service platform on the mini program.
Due to the epidemic, the road leading to Wulao Peak from Nanputuo Temple has been blocked, and it is no longer possible to climb Wulao Peak to view the panoramic view of Xiamen University.
Nanputuo’s vegetarian dishes are very famous. It is closed now due to the epidemic, but the Nanputuo vegetarian cakes in the temple are still for sale.
It is very close to Xiamen University, so you can arrange to visit it on the same day as Xiamen University.
During the epidemic, you need to make an appointment online in advance, and the tickets are free. It is also a relatively simple temple. The most famous thing here should be Nanputuo crispy cakes, and many tourists will bring two boxes.
The most popular temple in Xiamen. After worshipping Buddha in the temple, you can climb the Wulao Peak behind the temple. When I went there, the Heavenly King Hall was under maintenance. I visited the Heavenly King Hall, the Great Hall of the Buddha, the Great Compassion Hall and the cliff carvings on the back mountain. During the epidemic prevention and control period, the road to climb the Wulao Peak was closed, so it was a pity that I couldn't see the panoramic view of Xiamen University.
Nanputuo, named after its location to the south of Putuo Temple, was first built in the late Tang Dynasty and was called Sizhou Temple. It was renamed Puzhao Temple during the Zhiping period of the Song Dynasty. In the early Ming Dynasty, the temple was deserted and was not rebuilt until the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. When you come to Nanputuo, be sure not to miss the Qianlong Imperial Stele on the left after entering the mountain gate. It is a single space and it is easy to forget its existence.
After entering through the mountain gate, there are many incense points on the road. The key point is that it is free of charge, and each person can only take one stick of incense. The incense here cannot be brought into the temple. You need to pray in front of the main hall and insert the incense into the incense burner before entering the temple.
The Hall of Heavenly Kings is at the front end of the main hall. In the center of the front hall, a smiling Maitreya Buddha is enshrined. On both sides stand the Four Heavenly Kings with angry eyes. Behind the hall, Weituo Bodhisattva stands with his palms facing down and pressing the pestle, looking extremely majestic.
The main hall is the center of the temple, with typical characteristics of southern Fujian Buddhist temples. In the center of the hall is a tall statue of the Three Buddhas, and behind the hall are the Three Saints of the West. The side halls are dedicated to the 18 Arhats.
The Great Compassion Hall is a unique building with an octagonal triple eaves. Every detail is very delicately designed. Avalokitesvara is enshrined in the center of the hall, and on the other sides are 48-armed Avalokitesvara with beautiful shapes and various postures.
The last one is the Sutra Repository, which is a two-story pavilion. It is not open to the public now, but you can view it from a distance.
There are many cliff carvings and a wishing pool behind the mountain. People with good physical strength can also climb to Wulao Peak, or enjoy the scenery of Xiamen from the observation deck halfway up the mountain.
If you are tired, you can go to the pavilion next to the lotus pond to take a rest. The breeze is very comfortable.
Adjacent to Xiamen University and facing the clear harbor, it was built in the late Tang Dynasty and is one of the Buddhist resorts in southern Fujian. It is one of the eight major scenic spots in Xiamen.
The place is lush and green all year round, and picturesque. Every year, millions of Chinese and foreign tourists come here to visit and worship.
Nanputuo Temple is located at the foot of Wulao Peak in the southeast of Xiamen City, Fujian Province, facing the clear harbor. The temple covers an area of 258,000 square meters and has a construction area of 212,700 square meters. It was first built in the late Tang Dynasty and was called Sizhou Temple. It was renamed Puzhao Temple during the Zhiping period of the Song Dynasty. In the early Ming Dynasty, the temple was deserted and was not rebuilt until the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. Because it enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva, it is similar to the Guanyin Dojo in Putuo Mountain, Zhejiang Province, and is located in the south of Putuo Mountain, so it is named "Nanputuo Temple". It is one of the Buddhist resorts in southern Fujian. The most valuable items in the temple are the "Lotus Sutra" written in blood during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and the famous white porcelain Guanyin by He Chaozong.
The main buildings on the central axis of Nanputuo Temple include the Heavenly King Hall, the Great Hall of the Buddha, the Great Compassion Hall, the Sutra Library, etc. On both sides are the bell and drum tower, the Zen hall, the guest hall, the storehouse, the Minnan Buddhist College, the Buddhist Yangzheng Academy, a pond for releasing animals in front of the temple, and a "Master Taixu Memorial Tower" built behind the temple in recent years. The whole temple is magnificent and orderly.
Traffic jams are extremely severe near Nanputuo Temple, and it is difficult to find parking spaces. It is close to Xiamen University, so you can visit together. You can climb to the top of the back mountain, but you can see the panoramic view when you reach the middle of the mountain. The vegetarian meals and vegetarian snacks are very famous.

Nanputuo Temple was first built in the late Tang Dynasty and rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. The existing buildings are mainly built in modern times. It is located at the foot of Wulao Peak, adjacent to Xiamen University, and is the location of Minnan Buddhist College.
⛲️People in Fujian love to worship, so every temple is very popular! Not to mention the Nanputuo Temple near Xiamen University!
【Nanputuo Temple】was first built in the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, and was originally called Sizhou Temple. The temple faces south and is built against the mountain and facing the sea. All the buildings in the temple are built with double-eaved and flying ridged roofs in the style of ancient palaces.
💡💡But in addition to burning incense and worshipping Buddha, this place is also a good place to climb high and watch the sunset in Xiamen! 💕
Nanputuo Temple does not require tickets and closes late at night, so choose a good afternoon to visit Putuo Temple! Go around the temples and pray and burn incense before it gets dark. You can start climbing the mountain when the sun is about to set🌄🌄
Slowly climb up, and the entire cityscape of Xiamen will gradually unfold before your eyes. The mountain of Putuo Temple is still quite high, so everyone should do what they can. Don't try to climb all the way up quickly, or you will run out of energy in the end! You don't need to climb to the highest point, because there is a small pavilion at the highest point that blocks the view. The second-to-last viewing platform is the best place for scenery, and it is also where my pictures appear. The city and the sea are connected, and the afterglow of the sunset makes everything golden. It's really beautiful to watch the sunset in the breeze! 💕💕
There are too many Internet celebrity spots in Xiamen. Here you won’t feel the crowds of Internet celebrity spots, but you will gain peace and beauty from your heart🌆🌃
Learning from the lesson of going out too late yesterday, I got up early on purpose on the morning of the trip to Nanputuo Temple, because I didn't want to be sunburned by the scorching sun after the tour. The tickets to Nanputuo Temple are free, and the incense is free. Everyone can get a stick of incense for free before entering the temple. I have to say it is really humane. In addition, the management of the entire temple is very strict and standardized. The garbage classification is relatively detailed, and classified trash cans can be seen everywhere. Stalls are prohibited in and around the temple. It is really a breath of fresh air among the major scenic spots in China. You can reach the Main Hall by passing through the Hall of Heavenly Kings. Nanputuo Temple was first built in the late Tang Dynasty and was called Sizhou Temple. It was renamed Puzhao Temple during the Zhiping period of the Song Dynasty. In the early Ming Dynasty, the temple was deserted and was not rebuilt until the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. Because it enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva, it is similar to the Guanyin Taoist Temple in Putuo Mountain, Zhejiang Province, and is located in the south of Putuo Mountain, hence the name "Nanputuo Temple". We began to climb the mountain for sightseeing. I held my child and carried a camera bag and began a hellish practice. Finally, I carried the child to the halfway point of the mountain. My wife stopped walking and we continued to move forward after reducing the weight. The view from the top of the mountain is not very wide, but the view from a platform below is very good, from which you can see the scenery of the Xiamen Twin Towers. At the same time, the botanical garden is at the other side of the mountain top. There is a ticket office at the top of the mountain. If you don't want to visit, you can return the same way.
Nanputuo Temple is located next to Xiamen University. It is a famous Buddhist temple in southern Fujian and even in the whole country. If you are ready to pray, you might as well come here to worship. Behind the temple is Wulao Peak, which is also one of the eight major scenic spots in Xiamen. If you want to visit the mountains, you can also climb the mountains and have fun.
The temple originated in the Tang Dynasty and was rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. Because it and the Puji Temple on Mount Putuo both deify Guanyin Bodhisattva and are located in the south of Mount Putuo, it is named Nanputuo Temple.
There are two gates on the periphery of the temple, the east gate is close to Xiamen University, and the west gate is close to the bell and drum tunnel. The distance between the two gates is very close, so you can enter through either gate. The release pond is in the middle and front of the two gates, with turtles in it and a lotus pond in front.
Nanputuo Temple is very small, so if you don't plan to climb the Wulao Peak, you can visit it quickly. The main buildings include the Heavenly King Hall, the Great Hall of the Buddha, the Great Compassion Hall, the Sutra Library, etc. (go through them in order from the mountain gate), the bell tower and the drum tower on both sides, the Charity Tower on the left and the Puzhao Tower on the right, which correspond to each other and are magnificent.
The Hall of Heavenly Kings is the first hall of Nanputuo Temple. When you enter, you can see the smiling Maitreya Buddha with bare chest and navel, so the Hall of Heavenly Kings is also called the Maitreya Hall. Generally, the main purpose of worshipping Maitreya Buddha is to pray for blessings and wealth. Of course, it is said that the best way to pray for wealth is to pray to the God of Wealth, the God of Wealth and the God of Wealth.
The Great Hall of the Buddha is dedicated to the Three Holy Ones of the West, the Great Hall of the Compassionate One is dedicated to Guanyin, and the Eighteen Arhats are located in the east and west wings. In the Sutra Library, you can see various precious Buddhist cultural relics.
There are many inscriptions by famous people preserved around the temple in Nanputuo Temple. There is a huge stone carving of the word "Buddha" on the cliff behind the temple, and tourists often come to take photos.
Puzhaolou is a place for vegetarians, with an average cost of about 59 yuan per person. Vegetarians can consider dining here. The vegetarian food at Nanputuo Temple is very famous and has won awards nationwide. There is also a plaque on it that says "The Best Vegetarian Banquet in the World".
If a teenager has lived in Xiamen since childhood and his family believes in Buddhism, then in his growth path, in addition to drinking tea, worshiping Buddha must be a compulsory course in life. For Xiamen, the representative temple must be the well-known and popular Nanputuo Temple~
Nanputuo Temple is located at the foot of the majestic Wulao Peak, facing south, backed by mountains and facing the sea, and adjacent to Xiamen University. It was built in the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, and has a history of more than 1,000 years.
Nanpuyuan Temple is located in the north and faces the south, built against the mountain and facing the sea. It is large in scale and majestic. Nanputuo is a place for burning incense and fulfilling vows. It has beautiful scenery and is located near Xiamen University. It is open to tourists free of charge.
📿Nanputuo Temple was first built in the late Tang Dynasty. It is located in the south of Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang Province and is also dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva, hence the name Nanputuo.
🙏🏻It is said that this place is very effective, and you just need to enter the temple and worship the gods with a pious heart.
(Pin) Practical tips:
1. The temple is free to enter. There is a place to give incense at the entrance. Those who need to burn incense should burn incense in front of the Heavenly King Hall.

3. The temple is close to Xiamen University, and you can visit both places in one day.
4. Out of respect, it is better not to take photos of the Buddha statues in the store.

Visiting Xiamen University is not allowed until 3 pm. Taking advantage of this time, it is just right to visit Nanputuo Temple, where the environment is elegant, the architecture is beautiful and pleasant.
As a representative attraction in Xiamen, you must come and see it. The overall area of the temple is very large. It is located on the northwest side of Xiamen University.
There are so many tourists coming here to burn incense and visit. At the gate, each person can get one stick of incense for free. Since I don’t really believe in these, I didn’t waste the quota.
I am very interested in the stone tablets with historical traces in the temple. From the gate to the Sutra Library at the back, I can see all the ups and downs that this ancient temple has experienced.
The rich culture of the local people
Next to Xiamen University, it is worth a visit, a piece of pure land in the busy city. The building is relatively new, with a large pond at the entrance.
The temple is magnificent and enshrines various Bodhisattvas. The temple is very quiet and there is a place to burn incense for free~
Very good to play for about 3 hours. I will go there next time if I have time.
Xingyu Lingxi Buddhist Lingshan is worth recommending for blessing peace
The environment is quiet and elegant, the architectural style is distinctive and the scenery is pleasant.
There is a lot of incense burning inside. There is a place where you can buy Nanputuo vegetarian cakes, which come in many flavors and are all delicious. Xiamen University is right next to it.
The largest and most famous temple in southern Fujian in modern times - Xiamen Nanputuo Temple.
Nanputuo Temple is a very famous temple next to Xiamen University. It is always very popular, crowded, and has beautiful scenery.
Nanputuo Temple has a unique architecture, with trees, flowers and plants all together, beautiful scenery, and is a good place for quiet meditation.
Nanputuo Temple is not big, but it is very impressive. When there are not many tourists, you can take the time to walk around and listen to the tour guide's explanation.
Sincerity is the key to success. I really like going to temples to worship.
Nanputuo Temple, like other temples, has a very bumpy history. Putting that aside, it is still developing very well now. I think it has a very high status in Fujian. It is very popular. When you climb the mountain, you can smell the scent of incense. Yes, you need to climb the mountain here. It will be great to see the panoramic view of Xiamen after going up.
Putuo Temple is one of the few temples that does not burn incense.
The Twin Towers are right in front of you. It is recommended to go to Putuo Temple earlier and then climb to the top of the mountain, because you can buy tickets to enter the botanical garden directly at the top of the mountain. It is absolutely a fairyland to catch the spray time to take portraits.
Nanputuo Temple is one of the eight major scenic spots in Xiamen. This place is free and has many tour groups. It is next to Xiamen University.
I went there to eat before I played. The vegetarian dishes were good, but unfortunately we had two adults and one child and it was too much. It cost 242 yuan, which made me very full. I should have ordered more than 100 yuan for two adults, and a plate of fried vermicelli would have been enough. The price was too good.
Nanputuo Temple does not require reservations or ID cards. It is an ancient temple dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. There are many pilgrims. You can go and visit it. There is a mountain behind Nanputuo Temple. You can choose to climb it or climb halfway. It is said that it is not very high. Of course, this depends on the person. However, I have not climbed it, so I don’t know how long it takes. Looking at other people’s guides, it is not very long, about an hour or so? In addition, the vegetarian cakes of Nanputuo Temple are very famous... There are also many diners who come here because of its reputation. They may think that the vegetarian cakes made in the temple can be eaten to ward off disasters and solve problems. Hahahaha, I am talking nonsense. I bought two boxes, one box of Xiangji cakes and one box of mung bean cakes~ The taste is really good
Nanputuo Temple is close to Xiamen University. There is no entrance fee. You can get three incense sticks for free when you enter the temple. Of course, you can buy incense sticks voluntarily. Compared with other temples that charge tickets and sell incense sticks at high prices, the price is N times higher in an instant. So the Bodhisattva in Nanputuo Temple is very powerful.
Nanputuo Temple is located at the foot of Wulao Peak in the southeast of Xiamen City, Fujian Province, adjacent to Xiamen University and facing the clear harbor.
No tickets are required. You can go up the mountain through the main gate and overlook the whole Xiamen. They said that when the weather is good, you can see the sea level of Xiamen, but the weather was not very good on the day we went, so the photos were all foggy. You can only see the scenery of Xiamen University and its surroundings. When you reach the highest point of the mountain, there is a road that leads directly to Wanshi Botanical Garden.
Nanputuo Temple is located at the foot of Wulao Peak. It is a famous ancient temple in Xiamen, backed by mountains and facing the sea. The main buildings on the central axis are the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Hall of the Great Buddha, the Hall of Great Compassion, and the Sutra Library. Each hall rises layer by layer along the mountain and is grand in scale.
The main buildings include the Heavenly King Hall, the Great Hall of the Buddha, the Great Compassion Hall, the Sutra Library, etc. There is a release pond at the entrance. The turtles in the release pond are particularly interesting. They all climb onto a wooden board in the corner of the pond, but it is very difficult for the turtles to climb onto the board. A big turtle needs to try many times before he can climb up. Then when he climbs up, he pushes the small turtles that are blocking the way into the water. All things have spirits.
There is a very precious blood sutra "Lotus Sutra" from the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty in the Sutra Library. When I was visiting, I happened to hear a tour guide talking about how the blood sutra was written. I was curious and listened nearby. It turns out that the blood sutra was written with blood from the tip of the tongue dipped in cinnabar, so that the words would remain bright red. It was completed by a relay from a senior monk to a young novice monk, which took decades and cost a lot of money.
The mountain behind the temple is Wulao Peak. The scenery along the way is very good. It takes an hour to climb to the top of the mountain. I didn’t want to climb halfway up, but later I thought I might as well persevere. When I climbed to the top of the mountain, I was glad that I got there. The scenery was still very good, and I could overlook Xiamen University and the World Trade Center Twin Towers in the distance.
Just be happy. I love nature and traveling.
Nanputuo Temple is located next to the South Gate of Xiamen University. It is one of the few ancient temples in the downtown area and one of the few temples in China that does not charge admission. The temple was first built in the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. It is not large in size but has neatly built buildings. It enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva. Nanputuo is famous for its vegetarian cakes and there is a Wulao Peak behind it that you can climb.
Nanputuo Temple is a Buddhist temple dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. The temple is very popular and holds a water and land ceremony every year. The Wulao Peak behind the temple is a good place for viewing.
Nanputuo Temple is a famous ancient temple in Xiamen. It is located in front of Wulao Peak, a famous mountain on Ludao Island. It is backed by beautiful peaks and faces the clear harbor. It has a wonderful view. In the Five Dynasties and early Song Dynasty, eminent monks built a hut on the mountain to practice Buddhism. In the Ming Dynasty, the temple was expanded and its scale began to take shape. It was rebuilt in the early Qing Dynasty and renamed as it is today.
Nanputuo Temple has extremely beautiful greenery and is a paradise for birds. A group of pigeons are released by the pond in front of the temple. There are lotus flowers and water birds in the pond, creating a peaceful atmosphere, which is quite reminiscent of the hometown of Guanyin Bodhisattva in Journey to the West.
This is the most popular temple I have ever seen, and it is highly respected by the locals. From here you can see Xiamen University and the Twin Towers in the distance.
I'm not really sure how big it is inside. As my mother's legs are not very good, we went up two floors, worshipped and then came out... It shouldn't be very high. Before leaving, I didn't forget to buy the Nanputuo Temple vegetarian cake that everyone buys. It tasted really good and not too sweet. I still recommend everyone to try it.
Built on the mountain, it is very beautiful and has a lot of incense. The Nanputuo vegetarian cake is great and is one of the must-see gifts in Xiamen.
Great free attraction. When I went there and saw Xiamen University, there were not many people.
The wind blowing on you is very comfortable. I like this quiet night.
My parents and I are all Buddhists, so we went to Nanputuo Temple. Nanputuo Temple is right next to Xiamen University. If you want to go to these two places, you can arrange a day trip.
It’s not very convenient to take photos in the temple, so I just took a photo when I came out~
Nanputuo Temple is a very exquisite and high-standard Buddhist temple.
The mountain climbing is actually OK, not as steep as Xiangshan, a bit like Badachu, it takes about 60 minutes to reach the top. You can see Xiamen University more clearly from the top platform.
The entire Nanputuo temple is magnificent, and the carvings on the doors and windows are exquisite, telling stories from the Buddhist scriptures. Even if you don't understand the teachings of the Buddhist scriptures, just looking at these carvings is good, beautiful, and everywhere. Nanputuo has three free things: free tickets, free explanations, and free incense.
Nanputuo Temple (very close to Xiamen University, you can see it when you come out of the South Gate) Xiamen University and Nanputuo Temple can be visited on the same day. The vegetarian cakes here are one of Xiamen's specialties. You can buy a few boxes to give to others or eat them yourself. There are many prices, the cheapest is 15 yuan/box
It was first built in the late Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. It is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. It is similar to the Guanyin Temple in Putuo Mountain, Zhejiang Province. It is named "Nanputuo Temple" because it is located in the south of Putuo Mountain. It is one of the Buddhist resorts in southern Fujian and one of the eight scenic spots in Xiamen.
Less than 1,000 meters from Mao Street, you will find Nanputuo Temple, one of the Buddhist holy places in southern Fujian. The Great Compassion Hall enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva. Because believers in southern Fujian worship Guanyin Bodhisattva, the temple is very popular. Burn incense here devoutly, hoping for eternal happiness.
The Buddhist atmosphere of Nanputuo Temple is very rich. The scenery is also very beautiful. It is a temple with a lot of flavor. I just wanted to try the vegetarian dishes of Nanputuo Temple, but I didn't expect that the ingredients, taste and quantity were all very good.
Nanputuo Temple is located in the north of Xiamen University and is one of the must-see attractions in Xiamen. Compared with other famous temples in China, Nanputuo Temple does not charge admission fees and does not force people to burn incense and donate money, which can be regarded as a piece of pure land. Not only that, every tourist who enters the temple can also receive a free stick of incense.
The main hall of the temple is quite majestic, but we were always careful not to take pictures of the temple, especially the Buddha statues, so we didn’t take any photos.
Nanputuo Temple's vegetarian food and vegetarian cakes are also very famous.
Next to Xiamen University, the environment is good, free, and they also give you a stick of incense.
How to evaluate it... It's a bit contradictory. The space is a bit tight, and the crowds of tourists make this temple, which is originally located in a beautiful place, look out of place. It's hard to find a quiet place to practice.
Temples really bring good luck to people~~~~
Tips: The shooting time is very important. It is recommended to shoot during the golden hour one hour after sunset, when the city lights are just coming on and the night is still young.
There is no admission fee to Nanputuo Temple. You can get incense after entering and everyone can worship.
Although the weather is hot and humid today, there are still many people visiting the temple. The temple has prepared some designated spots for tourists to get water.
Tips: Hot water is basically provided to tourists in the temple, except for cold water when you just enter the door. Tourists who want to get water need to prepare a thermos cup.
In summer, when you go to Nanputuo Temple, you must take good sun protection and heatstroke prevention facilities, stay in the shade of trees more often, and crawl in sections to reduce the probability of heatstroke. At the same time, drink more water, not beverages!
Nanputuo Temple is right next to the west gate of Xiamen University. It is probably the only temple so close to a top university. The temple is very popular, with devout believers burning incense and worshipping.
If you sign up for a tour group at Nanputuo, you will be given two hours to go up and down the mountain. We didn't have enough time. We left at around 9 o'clock in the morning and it was already 2 o'clock in the afternoon when we came out of the scenic spot. This scenic spot is free, so you need to buy some food in advance to replenish your energy.
When you are at the bus stop and look at the bus stop sign, there will be a kind of question where you want to go. If you say you want to go to Nanputuo, they will say there is a religious ceremony today and other excuses, and they are all scammers, don't believe them. It is best to take a Didi taxi or bus here. Don't believe the black taxis or taxis that ask you where to go, they will more or less scam you!
Xiamen University is within walking distance from Shapowei. However, when we went there, it was still in the freshman welcoming period and would not be open to the public until October 24. I didn't mind it because I had been there before. This time, I just passed by without much expectation. There were still many tourists at the entrance.
Nanputuo Temple is not far from Xiamen University and can be reached on foot. There is no entrance fee to Nanputuo Temple so there are many people there. It is also one of the attractions in Xiamen city, so I just came to visit casually. The pies in the temple are very good.
When you come to Xiamen, don’t miss Nanputuo Temple, the most popular temple!
Nanputuo Temple is located in Siming District, Xiamen, close to Xiamen University. It is one of the Buddhist sites in southern Fujian and a key Buddhist temple in China. The most famous thing about the temple is the vegetarian food on the two floors of the vegetarian restaurant and the vegetarian cakes in the temple.
It takes about an hour to complete the tour.
The Heavenly King Hall in the temple houses the Four Heavenly Kings and Maitreya Buddha; in front of the Great Hall are the Hall of the Guardians and the Hall of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva; the Great Compassion Hall houses the Thousand-armed Avalokitesvara, and it takes more than 30 steps to get to the hall. Behind the temple is the Wulao Peak, where you can overlook the entire Xiamen.
There is a "place for giving incense" at the entrance, which says "It doesn't matter how much incense you give, as long as you are sincere, one stick is the best". You can see Xiamen University and Xiamen Bay from the observation deck, and there are vegetarian dishes in the temple. If you bring your baby, you can go to worship Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
There are many choices for accommodation, but if you consider the convenience of travel, it is recommended to be close to scenic spots and quiet in the bustling city. Xiamen HiAir B&B is located in Zengcuo'an, the beautiful Huandao Road in Xiamen. It is only a 2-minute walk to the beach and convenient for travel.
Imagine yourself on an evening like this, walking on the beach with the person you love, following the afterglow of the sunset, feeling the comfortable sea breeze, and immersing yourself in the embrace of Xiamen.
Return to the B&B at night, draw the curtains, and experience a different kind of romance in the hazy shadows of the sand. Turn off the lights at night and watch a romantic movie with the person you love.
