YuShan Island

This is the second largest island in eastern Fujian (the largest island in eastern Fujian is Sandu Island). The weather was not very good. There was still some blue sky when I came in the morning, but it turned cloudy and overcast in the afternoon. I set out at around 3 pm to visit Sunshine Valley, Moon Bay, and Dongjiao Village. The chartered driver was the first owner on the island to buy a car and operate it alone. He said that he earned back the price of the car in two years. Because the weather was not very good, I finally let the children catch many hermit crabs on the mudflats and reefs of Moon Bay, and piled up fine sand castles and moats. It is still their paradise. I left Yishan Island reluctantly. I highly recommend this island. The island is not big, the fishermen are very simple, and commercialization is not heavy. The scenery is different from other islands. I hope more people will come to see it.

Unlike other islands that lack fresh water, there are two alpine lakes on the top of Tianhu Mountain on Dayushan Island, one large and one small, named Big Tianhu and Small Tianhu respectively. Due to the special natural environment, Dayushan Island is foggy, and many people find it difficult to see the full view of the Big and Small Tianhu even when they arrive on the island.

Fortunately, we were lucky. The weather was surprisingly good. Looking far into the distance, the blue sky and the sea were one color! People say that Dayushan Island is Wugong Mountain on the sea. Looking at the green meadows and rolling hills, I felt as if I was in Wugong Mountain!

My favorite place on this trip to Xiapu is Yishan Island. The real scene is even more beautiful than the aerial photography of China! And this island has not been developed much yet. While it is a small island with few people, I strongly recommend you to go there~❤️

Yishan Island combines mountains, lakes, grass and sea together, like a miniature landscape. On cloudy days, the island is foggy and full of fairy air; on sunny days, the islands in the distance can be seen clearly, and every step you take can feel the kiss of the sun and sea breeze❤️

📌How to get there: You need to take a boat at the pier to get to Yushan Island. There are currently two piers with boats going there, Yujing Pier and Sansha Pier. There are parking lots at the piers, and it is also convenient to drive there. 💰The one-way boat ticket is 50 yuan per person. The boat ride takes about half an hour.

‼️How to play: Scenic area bus + walking

After arriving on the island, walk to the scenic area bus station to buy tickets and bus tickets. 💰 Tickets + bus tickets = 110 yuan/person. The scenic area bus will drive along the mountain road for about 20 minutes to the scenic area parking lot on the mountain. The lake next to the parking lot is called Jiuzhu Gongcao. The island in the middle of the lake and the lake are surrounded by tea gardens. It is very beautiful to take pictures in the tea gardens. Follow the trail up the mountain to Datian Lake and Tianhu Grassland. The scenery along the way is particularly good, with tea gardens, meadows, distant mountains and seas, and they are all gentle slopes, so you won't feel tired.

It was cloudy the day we went there, and the mountainside was shrouded in mist, which was cool and humid, and particularly pleasant.

⚠️Tips：

1⃣️Walk to Datian Lake. Most tour groups return after taking photos. Those who have time must walk to the end of the left and right trails. The real beauty is there~👉🏻Walking to the right is the alpine meadow, 👈🏻Walking to the left, you can see the whole view of Datian Lake and the island in the distance. Picture 2 was taken there. Everyone feels that it is one of the most beautiful viewing points on the island!

2⃣️From the parking lot to Datian Lake is actually a 🔄circular route. Most people take the circular route back, but I suggest returning the original way, because after walking the circular route, I found that the scenery is still more beautiful on this side, and the distance is also closer on this side.

3⃣️There is a village on the island where you can stay and eat. If you have enough time, you can choose to go to the island in the afternoon, stay for a day, watch the sunrise and sunset, and leave the island the next day. It should also be fun to walk around the island.

4⃣️There is no tall vegetation on the island to provide shade. If you go there on a sunny day, be sure to wear a hat and apply as much sunscreen as possible!

5⃣️There is a beach near the scenic bus station. Everyone feels it is quite beautiful, but it will be submerged after high tide. If you want to go, you must calculate the time of high and low tide.

It is recommended to find a receptionist to arrange the itinerary before departure and book tickets in advance for discounts.

Compared with those over-commercialized islands, towns and villages, Dayushan Island may be at the other extreme. The catering operations and scenic area supporting facilities can be done better. For example, some chain restaurants can be introduced, and one or two coffee shops and milk tea shops suitable for young people to check in (yes, there is no milk tea!), etc.

The supporting facilities such as hotels on Dayushan Island need to be improved. If you are used to the convenient (exquisite) life in the city, it is best not to stay overnight here (but this will make your travel time more limited).

There are two piers to Yishan Island, one is Yujing Pier, which is slightly to the north; the other is Sansha Pier, which is closer to Xiapu.

There are two ways to visit Yishan Island: a tour around the island, which requires taking the scenic area bus or chartering a car; the other way is to take the scenic area bus directly to Datian Lake via the green route.

Although I came to an island this time, I didn't expect to be exposed to the sun for a long time. However... I have to say that the sun was really bright on this day! It was rainy in Zhejiang before, and I felt like I was going to mold. Suddenly exposed to the sun, I felt like I was back to the dry and refreshing weather in the north. I don't know if it's the wrong season, but some of the grass in the grassland was actually withered and yellow.

Although Dayushan Island is promoted as one of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Islands in China", the Sansha Ancient Town Pier is shabby and doesn't even have a decent sign. We arrived early and there were not many people. After waiting for about 40 to 50 minutes, it was almost eight o'clock. There were more and more tourists. Once the boat was full, it could leave! It took about 30 minutes to reach Dayushan Island. After going up the mountain, it was still as simple and terribly simple: there was not even a conspicuous road sign or guide map. We were confused for several minutes: Who am I? Where am I? Where should we go? Where should we go to play? Should we take a car or walk... In the end, we had to follow the crowd and walk in one direction. After walking for a while, we arrived at a ticket office where many people gathered. Later, we learned that this was to buy tickets to Tianhu Scenic Area. After buying a ticket, you can take a car up the mountain to Tianhu Scenic Area, which is also one of the main scenic spots on Dayushan Island. Therefore, everyone has to buy tickets here and queue up to get on the bus, otherwise, there will be nothing to do on Dayushan Island. After buying the ticket and getting the number to wait in line for the bus, the minibus drove a carload of people to the top of the mountain. The feeling of racing on the winding mountain road made everyone in the car tremble with fear, but they were shocked by the beautiful scenery as soon as they got off the bus. Because the weather was also very good that day, the sunshine, blue sky, green tea garden and clear lake water unfolded in front of us like a wide scroll. The openness and beauty of the top of the mountain far exceeded our expectations. We walked further along the mountain road, and over a hilltop we saw a wider world and a smoky sea in the distance, like a fairyland. Everyone was sighing: It's so beautiful! How can it be so beautiful? Walking further towards the sea, we can gradually see the small islands on the sea, and the sea view becomes more real and rich.

It was like being in New Zealand, a vast country with few people and clean environment, with green grass and blue sky everywhere. And I think it is the most beautiful place I have ever been to in China. The photos I took are not even one tenth of what I saw with my own eyes, and I cannot feel the openness that makes me feel relaxed and happy.

Because it is the Golden Week, there are a lot of passengers, so there are round trip boats every hour on average. (Round trip ticket is 100 yuan/person).

The temperature difference between day and night on the island in October is huge. The friends who got up early to watch the sunrise were covered with colorful quilts, which was really funny.

The glass observation deck offers a bird's eye view of Dongjiao Village. The fishing village surrounded by sea and mountains accepts the gift from nature.

Big and small Tianhu Lakes, thousands of acres of grassland, looking far into the distance, the mountains and waters are the same color, the breeze blows, the grass waves rise and fall, in line with the scene "the sky is vast, the wilderness is boundless, the wind blows the grass low and you can see cattle and sheep"

Many beautiful things in life require time to wait, just like going out to sea to fish is like waiting for the sunrise. I don’t know if there will be a big fish in the net, and I don’t know if I can wait until the dawn, but I know that all the waiting time with expectations is beautiful. The trip to Yishan Island made me rethink my life and re-understand myself, so while I am young, I will go out, travel, and feel the beautiful mountains and rivers of my motherland.

How should I put it, the greater the expectations, the greater the disappointment. There is still a gap between what I imagined and what I expected. It would be nice to go on vacation.

In Sansha Town, Xiapu, when the sun rises over Huazhu, you can see Yishan Island up close, which is very spectacular.

The conditions on the island are limited, so don't expect too much if you go to a big city.

Introduction to scenic spots on Yishan Island: Datian Lake, Xiaotian Lake and grasslands require admission fees, 55 yuan per person for admission + scenic spot fees, half price for student ID. Some small scenic spots at the foot of the mountain include: Ambassador's Beach (sunset), Sunshine Valley (sunrise and sunset), Moon Bay Beach (sunrise), Dongjiao Village (sunrise fishing village), Taohua Valley (sunrise), Zao'ao Village (sunrise). These small attractions are the only way to go around the island. Tourists who go to the island during the National Day holiday must remember to arrange their accommodation and itinerary in advance, otherwise they won't even be able to get a ride on the island. Or (Sansha Daguzhen Ferry) has a parking lot, the overnight fee is about 60 yuan. Xiamen and Fuzhou southbound cities can be navigated here.



I started from Xiamen and took the bullet train from Xiamen to Xiapu. The train from Xiapu station to Sansha Wharf was booked in advance. It takes about 40 minutes from the bullet train station to the wharf. We had to go earlier because we had to catch the 12 o'clock boat to the island. There will be no boat after 12 o'clock, so please pay attention!

The return trip is from Yujing Wharf ➡️ Taimushan Railway Station

It's a big island. You have to take a car to travel. There are scenic spots everywhere along the pier. The Tianhu Lake on the mountain is like a natural oxygen bar, with wild flowers, meadows, and the sea and sky are one color. It's worth the trip.

There are overtime ships on weekends. On the day I went, which was Saturday, there were overtime ships at 1:00 and 1:30.

As the tour guide said, the weather on the island depends on the mood of the sea. The speed of packing up and unpacking umbrellas and raincoats may not be as fast as the speed of its mood change. The fog was very heavy, and the islands a little further away could only be seen roughly.

The sea water here is not clear, so even on a sunny day, there may not be clear blue sea, but there may be blue sky.

Walking along the road is very flat and not difficult. However, we can occasionally see frogs crushed by wheels along the way, as if we are walking on a pilgrimage of their lives.

There are very few young people on the island. I guess they have all gone out to work, leaving these old people to guard the island where they have lived all their lives and continue their island life.

There are many camps on the island, and tents of various colors can often be seen.

Although the island has not been overdeveloped, the environment is still worrying, with garbage everywhere and unattended weeds.

The vegetation on the island is very lush, and it is a natural grassland. Smaller plants will easily be submerged in the lush grass.

There aren't many choices for food on the island. Take breakfast for example. When you ask the host what they have, they always answer you with porridge and noodles. There is only one kind of noodles - seafood noodles. A big bowl of noodles is enough to fill you up, but for people who like chewy and elastic noodles, a bowl of mushy noodles is not attractive enough, and it doesn't make your eyebrows fall. The price is very uniform, 15 yuan everywhere.

Yishan is a town, which is composed of an island. There are 6 fishing villages in the town, and the island tour is 23 kilometers long [I learned this from chatting with locals, if there are any mistakes, please feel free to add them].

The people are simple and honest. I went there on the second day of the first lunar month. I booked a hotel on Meituan for about 230 yuan, thinking there would be a lot of people. But when I got to the island, I found that there were not many people. They only booked it directly for 160 yuan. Ctrip was even worse. It cost 360 yuan to book and stay directly on the island. The cheapest one was only 120 yuan. They all have their own houses and the environment is similar. If you want to play, the boat will take you at 13:00 and arrive on the island at about 13:45. After putting my things away, I went to the beach to play and see the waterfall. I had seafood noodles for dinner for 15 yuan. I was not used to it. It was too bland. I didn't have a seafood dinner. I felt it was a bit expensive. Maybe the store didn't find it right.

The sea breeze under the haze was very fierce. Standing on the top of the mountain of Yishan Island, the strong wind made it almost impossible for people to stand steadily. The cold wind mixed with a few raindrops fell on my face, which was cold and stinging. I put on the hood of my jacket, wrapped my whole body tightly and walked on the top of the mountain. The core scenic spots of Yishan Island are the big and small Tianhu and grassland on the top of the mountain. The big and small Tianhu are also called "Xing. Moon" Lake. Datian Lake is Yue Lake, but it is actually a reservoir, which is not very beautiful. The most beautiful is Xing Lake, which is Xiaotian Lake. Xiaotian Lake is sandwiched between the two mountains. It is like a pearl under the sky, and it is like a beautiful girl dancing. The gloomy sky can't hide her beauty. The lake water is clear and bottom-up, like an angel's tear in the vast grassland and mountains. Beside Tianhu is the Tianhu grassland covering the mountains and fields and overgrown with grass. As the autumn sun rises and the sun goes far away, the green grass is half yellow and half green, and the autumn colors on the mountains have a different charm. On the isolated island in the sea, there is a sense of the desolation of the northwest with the vast sky and the vast wilderness covering the surroundings. If it is under the bright sun, the scenery will be even more beautiful. In this regard, it should be considered a wonder on the island. (PS: In order to see the real appearance of Xiaotian Lake up close, I followed a small path that was not a road from the rugged and steep slope to the lakeside and climbed up exhausted. My legs were really shaking when going downhill and weak when going uphill. I guess my legs will be sore tomorrow.)

Yishan Island has 20,000 mu of natural grassland. It is now Dayu Mountain in the southeast of Fuding County, Fujian. Yishan Island was called Fuyao Islands in ancient times, which means "blessed land and beautiful jade". Dayushan Island has a diameter of 5 kilometers and an area of ​​21.22 square kilometers. The highest point, Hongjidong Mountain, is 541.3 meters above sea level, making it the largest island in eastern Fujian. At an altitude of 200 meters, there are two lakes of different sizes. The lake is surrounded by peaks and looks like a volcano, which is why Yishan Island got its name. The Datian Lake covers an area of ​​more than 1,000 mu, and the Xiaotian Lake covers an area of ​​more than 200 mu. The two lakes are more than 1,000 meters apart, each with a spring, and the water is clear to the bottom. The hillsides around the lake are gentle, and it is a 10,000-mu grassland known as the "Southern Tianshan Mountain". Yishan Island is known as the "Pearl of the Sea" and has beautiful scenery, including the colorful Tianhu Lake, the Southern Tianshan Mountain, and the clear sky at the Cape. Listed as one of the four major landscapes of Taimu Mountain Scenic Area, a world geological park, Yishan Island has now been rated as one of the ten most beautiful islands in the country.

This is the scenery I saw after walking a distance after returning from Yushan Island in the morning. The air is very fresh and quiet. It is very peaceful to live here, not as noisy as in the bustling city. You can only reach Yushan Island by taking a boat near here. The scenery here is really simple.

There is a mountain on the island, and there is a lake on the mountain. There is also a large grassland beside the lake, and you can camp and watch the stars!

It was rated as one of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Islands in China" by the National Geographic China Magazine. It was after reading this issue of "National Geographic China" that I was determined to visit.

It was still early spring when we went there, a little early, so the grass wasn't green yet, but looking down from the top of the mountain, I thought the scenery was pretty good, with a clear pool and the looming Turtle Island in the distance. If you wait until the grass turns green, the scenery will definitely be more beautiful.

There are minibuses and red taxis from Xiapu North Bus Station to Sansha. I forgot whether it costs 15, 18 or 20 yuan. You can also add some money to go directly to the ancient town pier. If you only go to the scenic area to see Datian Lake and Xiaotian Lake, then your expected trip to Yushan Island will probably be disappointing, because after boarding the boat at 9:30, you get off the pier and go to the tourist center to buy tickets for 40 yuan (recently the ticket is free). The scenic area bus rushed all the way and pulled you to the edge of Datian Lake. That's it. Then you climb a small hill and you will see Xiaotian Lake. Then walk on the stone slabs on both sides. Basically, you have finished playing in the morning. You don't have to wait for the return ship at 3 o'clock at the latest. 1 o'clock in the afternoon will do! It is strongly recommended to visit several free attractions or beaches or small fishing villages on the east line! We paid 100 yuan for a small car on the island (it seems that there is a shuttle bus around the island, but I didn't know about this). We went back and forth from the tourist center to Moon Bay, stopping at Ambassador Australia Beach, Sunshine Drum and Moon Bay on the way. The Yuniao Village we passed by looked nice, but we didn't stop to play. The biggest feature is that there is no one, and the beach is clean. We hurried back and forth, and then took the scenic bus to Datian Lake from the tourist center. In fact, you don't have to buy tickets yourself first. The car can take you to the remaining Dongjiao Taohuagu Zaoao on the east line, and then send you to Datian Lake on the way (but it also costs 40 yuan for tickets, but you don't go back). So the recommended route is the latter! The same is true for the hikers' hiking route! I took a few photos with my mobile phone at random. I personally think it's a general surprise. It might be better to take a slow tour. The boat came back at three o'clock, and I took the bus waiting at the entrance of the ancient town pier to play on the east wall for a while. If Xiaohao wants to play, he can go. Anyway, it's on the way to watch the sunset. I regretted the chartered car for 198 yuan per person on the first day. There was no way I was not familiar with the situation on the first day.

Everyone has different purposes for traveling. The scenery on the island is very beautiful. After arriving on the island in the afternoon, I went directly to the ticket-taking mountain Datian Lake. At night, I rented a tent in the scenic area. It was the first time I lived in an open-air tent. It was very interesting. The weather was cloudy and foggy on the first day, but it did not affect its beauty. The fog dissipated in the middle of the night, and it was decided that it was a good time to watch the sunrise the next day. I went up the mountain to watch the sunrise at 4:30 in the morning, and it really did not disappoint me to get up so early. Ha, I won’t say anything else. At first I thought I couldn't see the blue sea, but when I got to the end, I was quite satisfied. There is nothing to eat on the island. There are too few types of seafood and the prices are high. The scenery is mainly the sea.

Many of my friends have been to this place, namely Yishan Island. It is said that it is known as one of the ten most beautiful islands in China. I have always wanted to go there, but I didn’t have a vacation. Until two days ago, I came to Fuding City with a group of friends and learned that Yishan Island was nearby. We came at the wrong time. It was still off-season. The most famous 10,000-acre grassland on the island was still withered and yellow, but it was also a different experience. I also experienced tents for the first time. I rented one from Brother Zheng. However, the wind on the island was too strong. It was the wrong season. I heard that you need to cover yourself with a quilt when camping on the island in summer. Haha, I must come again in summer! I like Yishan Island very much. I will be able to see flowers and plants next time I go there. I went there in September and October before, and it was not as beautiful as in April and May. I would like to go there to camp and feel the spotless air.
