0 points. We arrived at 1:00 pm. The gate was locked during normal opening hours. No one answered the phone and no one answered the door when we knocked. It was freezing and snowy. We waited for an hour but no one was working. Even if there are fewer tourists due to the Spring Festival, should they put up a notice at the door? In about an hour, three groups of people came, including us, all of them were individual tourists traveling independently. Do they only accept group reservations? I have never seen such a capricious museum in the country!

Dunhuang is very rich in historical relics. If you come to Dunhuang, you must visit the museum. The Dunhuang Museum was newly built in 2012. Its shape is the style of a beacon tower, and the interior is designed according to the appearance of the grottoes. The museum exhibits some cultural relics that are not easy to see at ordinary times, as well as replicas of murals and statues of grottoes that are not open to the public. You can come here to understand the panoramic view of Dunhuang's development process, and then visit the grottoes to understand more thoroughly.

It is not large in scale, but very exquisite. It introduces people in detail the development and changes of Dunhuang and the past and present of Mogao Grottoes from the Han Dynasty, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties to the Qing Dynasty to modern times. It takes 2 to 3 hours to watch and learn carefully, and this time is worth it.

After visiting the museum, I gradually had a clear historical route in my mind for Dunhuang, and I also had a preliminary understanding of Mogao Grottoes. Although I was still nervous, I was not lacking or panicked.

By MayCatR |

When I first arrived at the museum, I felt it was a bit too deserted. There was not a single car at the entrance. I don’t know if it was because it was noon.

The entrance to the museum is through a small door on the side. Opposite is the ticket office. You can get a free ticket with your ID card. There are guides. I think they went to eat at noon. You can also scan the QR code on WeChat to listen to the explanation. Each exhibition hall has an independent QR code, and some of the more characteristic and representative cultural relics are introduced. It is also very convenient, but the explanations could not be played normally in the fourth and fifth halls at the back, which is a pity!

Perhaps because the most famous thing in Dunhuang is the Mogao Grottoes, the museum seems a bit casual in terms of both management and display.

By summer |

You can take a bus from the city to the museum. At the first two stops of Crescent Lake, you can just swipe your ID card to exchange for a ticket. Learn about this city on the ancient Silk Road. It has gone through vicissitudes, prosperity and decline, and has staggered through a long and tortuous journey of nearly 5,000 years. Dunhuang is still glorious; the cultural relics everywhere, the vast classics and documents, the exquisite cave art, and the mysterious Western Regions color also make me full of longing for Mogao Grottoes.

The Dunhuang Museum is not very large, and it usually takes an hour to an hour and a half to visit. The overall layout of the basic exhibition of the Dunhuang Museum is divided into a preface hall and five exhibition halls. The first exhibition hall is about the great development of Dunhuang in the Han Dynasty, the second exhibition hall is about the continued development of Dunhuang in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the third exhibition hall is about the prosperity of Dunhuang in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the fourth exhibition hall is about Tubo and the Five Dynasties and the Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties, and the fifth exhibition hall is about the development of Dunhuang in the Qing Dynasty.

By Cosmic Jack |

The exterior and interior decoration of the venue are in the style of a desert beacon tower city. In addition to the exhibits, probably due to the difficult frontier, there are no "important objects" except for Han bamboo slips and Han bricks (many replicas), which feel dry and old. There is a restoration of Cave 45 of Mogao Grottoes. If you haven't bought a special cave ticket, I strongly recommend you to come here to experience it.

When you come to Dunhuang, you must visit the Dunhuang Museum. Although the museum has 4-5 exhibition halls, it is actually not very big, and it mainly revolves around the Silk Road and Dunhuang culture.

.

The museum's timeline is based on this to tell the story of the Silk Road culture, Dunhuang history, and the development of Sino-foreign trade. The cultural relics are also displayed according to dynasties, and the context is very clear. After reading it, I still gained a lot.

.

The museum also replicated a cave, which is introduced in the Dunhuang digital image, mainly featuring the Buddha, Kasyapa and Annan.

.

The museum has two cultural and creative stores, the items are pretty good and I recommend taking a look.

.

PS: 1. No tickets are required for the museum, and online reservations can be made instantly.

2. The interpreter is 20 yuan, the headphones are 10 yuan (no need to return, you can bring your own and save the trouble of buying), the deposit is 200 yuan, it is recommended to rent one.

By Cute Lord |

The museum may not look big, but it is rich in content, winding and progressive, and the layout is quite interesting. There are replicas of some tombs of the Western Jin Dynasty and replicas of the murals and statues of the Mogao Grottoes, which are worth seeing.

By Ning Xiaoxin |

The Dunhuang Museum mainly introduces the history and culture of Dunhuang, letting people know that Dunhuang is not only about the Mogao Grottoes, but also about the more down-to-earth sandbar city-state. Here you can still see some documents from the Qing government's rule over the northwest. In a place so far away from the Jurchens, you can still see Manchu. I couldn't help but take a picture. I really only pay attention to things related to the Qing Dynasty wherever I go~

Dunhuang Museum was founded in 1979. The new museum was completed in 2011. The construction land is 16,000 square meters. It is rectangular, 129 meters long from east to west, 100 meters wide from north to south, with two floors above ground and a building height of 24 meters. The architectural plan was designed by Cui Kai, an architectural master from the China Architecture Design Institute. The entire building's appearance and color tone integrate cultural symbols such as the Great Wall, beacon towers and ancient castle-style buildings. It is beautiful, solemn and generous. The new museum has a construction area of 7,500 square meters. There are more than a thousand exhibits.

Anyone who has been to Mogao Grottoes knows that taking photos inside the real caves is prohibited.

Fortunately, the local driver recommended me to go to the Dunhuang Museum.

This is how I took the photo with the Mogao Grottoes murals.

You can visit for free by just swiping your ID card. It is air-conditioned and very comfortable.

In addition to cave models, the Dunhuang Museum has a rich collection of all kinds of collections from the ancient primitive age to modern times. Before visiting the Mogao Grottoes, you can spend an afternoon wandering around the museum.

I personally think this museum is better than the Gansu Provincial Museum. All the selected explanations are available by scanning the QR code. I usually take a quick look at the exhibits the first time I visit them. Where are they? I need to look at the descriptions on the wall. The second time I scan the QR code, find the recommended product for each item, and then listen to his explanation. So I usually spend about half an hour to 40 minutes in a hall. I slowly and carefully read all the exhibition halls. It seems to have taken about three or four hours. It feels very good and worthwhile. And you won't feel that there are too many contents, which will give you a headache, or it will be very messy. It is very organized and follows the order of time.

The Dunhuang Museum's circular tour route is very good

By Small D-Culture |

There is not much to introduce in the museum, except for some old pottery and tiles, old jade and bronze.

By Evan's Diary |

This attraction is a matter of personal opinion, depending on whether you are interested in the local culture and history.

It fully reflects the glory and prosperity of Dunhuang on the Silk Road in the past.

There are two great treasures in the Dunhuang Museum. One is the replica of Cave 45 of Mogao Grottoes, which costs 200 yuan. The other is the Wei and Jin Dynasty Brick Painting Tomb. It is an attraction that you cannot miss during your trip to Dunhuang. The Han bamboo slips unearthed from Xuanquanzhi, which is featured in the documentary about the Hexi Corridor, are also very precious.

A museum worth visiting, it has a restored Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, the key is to take photos as you like!!! Many cultural relics are authentic!!! Highly recommended!!!

By Jade Run |

The Dunhuang Museum is shaped like a beacon tower and visitors can get free tickets with their ID cards.

The bronze turtles are lifelike and were originally a pair, but the other one was moved away. The portrait bricks also reflect the life of people at that time.

By KK |

The Dunhuang Museum is not very big, but the building is quite unique. However, the collection is average, so it is not a big pity if you don't have time to go. You can get the ticket with your ID card.

There is a relatively detailed description of the history of Dunhuang, which can give people a direct impression.

There are also detailed explanations about the Han Dynasty Great Wall and the Silk Road. There are also miniature models for tourists to visit. As for the explanation of Mogao Grottoes, it is definitely better to understand it in person at Mogao Grottoes.

By Qian Xiaocai |

The design of the road repair hall next to it is very good. There are many green plants inside. I don't know if it is because it was renovated not long ago.

By Hashizakura |

After visiting the Qinghai Museum, I realized how reasonable the planning of the Dunhuang Museum was. It went in a roundabout way without going back. Once again, I realized that I need to learn a lot about history!

By Xiong Dan |

There are also explanations inside, which will give you a preliminary understanding of Dunhuang. You can spend 1-2 hours to visit it. It is worth a visit.

By Uncle Zhang |

The Dunhuang Museum has some complete cave replicas and exquisite replica murals. You can take photos. The collections are very diverse and wonderful. In addition to the cave replicas, there are many other collections in the museum, which are worth seeing. It is impossible to count how many national treasures have been lost. The Dunhuang Museum has 14,000 treasures, which is an astonishing number.

By Jam Master |

Take a taxi directly to the entrance for 5 yuan. You can enter with your ID card. The museum mainly displays the historical relics of Dunhuang, the capital of the Silk Road, and the precious relics in the Mogao Grottoes. The appearance of the museum is very special, and its shape is like the walls and beacon towers of the Han Dynasty Great Wall. Walking into the museum is like walking into a group of caves. The walls and corridors inside are in the form of ancient cave corridors, which are quite unique. It takes about 1-2 hours to visit a circle.

By Gratitude |

A place where cultural relics tell stories. Under the guidance of the guide, you will gradually understand the mysterious Dunhuang. This is the intersection of multiple cultural integration and collision. You need to listen carefully to everything that is revealed here.

By Coach Wen Di |

Learn more about Dunhuang. The museum closes at 6pm. This is a highlight, many museums do not exchange tickets after 4pm.

By Dreaming of South Africa |

A must-visit place, the collection of cultural relics is quite good, and the design is also full of sense. No need to queue up at Mogao Grottoes, this is the first choice for summer vacation.

By Wild Outdoors |

The Dunhuang Museum solidifies history. In the Dunhuang Museum, you can see many disappeared cities, some of which were from Xuanquanzhi, some from Xiliang, some from Shazhou, etc. The miniature versions of the ancient city of Dunhuang in different periods allow people to intuitively feel the changes here.

By snow |

The Dunhuang Museum is located in the city center. It is the right place to learn about the history of Dunhuang, but Mogao Grottoes is not. The exhibition is very attentive, with many cultural relics. The introduction to the history of the Western Regions is quite comprehensive. Some key points are hidden in the text, and you may miss them if you are not careful. For example, the history of the Ming Dynasty abandoning the area west of Jiayuguan is quite vague. So you have to do your homework before visiting the museum, otherwise it will be a waste of time.

The purpose of a museum is to verify what you have learned and deepen your impression. If your mind is empty, you will gain less, but it is not in vain. The guide can sometimes explain in detail, and sometimes what he says is not what you want to hear. The museum is okay, but the scenic area is full of nonsense, feudal superstition and everything, just to cater to the general public, they say whatever you want to hear. I always do my own homework, listen to the guide for a while, and don't follow him hard.

By sunflower |

The museum is not big, and you can get a free ticket with your ID card. The museum introduces the development history of Dunhuang in detail, from the Han Dynasty, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties, Song Dynasty, Yuan Dynasty, Ming Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. It is divided into five exhibition halls, which introduce the history of Dunhuang in various stages in detail. There are also some introductions about Mogao Grottoes in the museum, which gave us a preliminary understanding of Mogao Grottoes before going there. There are voluntary guides in the museum, who can help us understand Dunhuang more deeply.

Taking children to the museum is just to let them know some important history

On the way to Mingsha Mountain, I went to see it. It is worth seeing.

Although the Dunhuang Museum is only a municipal museum and is not large in scale, it is obvious that a lot of money has been invested in it. It is also equipped with a self-service explanation system. You can listen to the explanation directly on your mobile phone by scanning the code. There is also free wifi in the museum. If you calm down and take your time to look at it, you should gain a lot. Unfortunately, I was in a bad mood at the time and just treated it as a cursory sight. I took a look around and came out without leaving a deep impression.

By A lone sail in the distance, a blue sky |

The museum seems to be within the city limits, so bus No. 3 only costs one yuan.

This is a museum with a strong sense of design. Its exterior is probably modeled after the Xiaofangpan City in Yumen Pass. Although the interior may not seem large, it actually houses many exhibition halls, which are winding and tortuous. The Urban Planning Museum is on the second floor.

The museum can satisfy tourists who regret not being able to take selfies in the Mogao Grottoes. There is a simulated cave inside where they can check in and take selfies at will.

The entire museum tells the history and culture of Dunhuang. I think it is great and much more interesting than the Gansu Museum in Lanzhou.

By David |

There happened to be a performance going on and the weather was very hot, but it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the dancers at all, and they pulled the audience to dance along.

By Maomao has a cat |

The museum is not big, but it is very distinctive. Tickets are free with your ID card. There are some construction and renovation work going on inside. The visit takes about two hours. After the visit, you can find that the rise and fall of Dunhuang is actually a microcosm of Chinese history. If I could travel through time, I would like to go back to the prosperous Tang Dynasty.

By PigletwuSxin |

Those who are interested in history must go there, as it will give you a deeper and clearer understanding of the culture of the Mogao Grottoes. There are also several 1:1 replicas of the caves.

By Bug Pig C |

There is a restored model of Cave 45 here. It is not open to the public in Mogao Grottoes. It belongs to the special cave for academic research and will only appear in the film in the digital movie. If you want to see it alone, you need to buy a special cave ticket. If you like it, you can come to the Dunhuang Museum to see it in person. I didn't take a photo of the restored cave. I want to abide by the civilized agreement. Whether it is in Mogao Grottoes or in the restored cave of Dunhuang Museum, I will remember it deeply in my heart.

By Chang Xiake |

The Dunhuang Museum is located on the way from the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake scenic area in the downtown area of Dunhuang. Compared with the Mogao Grottoes and other scenic spots in Dunhuang, it is much quieter. The museum is not big, but it is very distinctive. The first floor displays the history and culture of Dunhuang, and the second floor is the Dunhuang Urban Planning Museum, where history and the future are integrated. There is a restored model of Cave 45 of Mogao Grottoes in the museum. If you have not seen it in Mogao Grottoes, it is worth seeing.

By Xiaoyuan |

It tells the history of Dunhuang, the evolution of the Silk Road, the cultural relics unearthed around Dunhuang, and some introductions to the Mogao Grottoes. We were very glad to have such a half-day to learn about it first, so that we could have a more pleasant time later. There is a small peripheral product store at the exit of the museum. The postcards here can be mailed directly and stamped with very special stamps, and there are some cute little plush dolls.

By Getting around |

The museum is closed on Mondays, and you can visit for free by exchanging your ID card. The museum is very new, the architectural design is great, and the exhibition route is very reasonable. Unfortunately, there is no explanation, and the information is limited, so I can't understand it~~

By Miss Light Eyelids |

There are some restorations of Mogao Grottoes in the Dunhuang Museum, but unfortunately many caves are on display outside, and only a few are still there. Photography is not allowed in the replica caves.

Mogao Grottoes (I won't be a porter, you can Baidu for the history of Mogao Grottoes), it is best to make an appointment in advance to buy tickets for the scenic area online, and then exchange them for your ID card at the ticket office of the scenic area (when we went there, a few aunties bought tickets on the spot, but they said they would have to wait two days to get tickets, and the aunties immediately got upset, you can use your imagination); tickets are divided into off-season and peak season, when I went there was the peak season, 200 yuan, there are special caves in the scenic area, and the fee is charged by cave (poor people with no artistic bacteria don't know how to do this).

The ticket office of the scenic area and the physical caves of Mogao Grottoes are not together. Generally, after buying a ticket, you can watch a movie at the digital center (which is the ticket office) first (mainly introducing the history of Mogao Grottoes, which is quite interesting, and there are colored caves in the movie), and then take the scenic area bus to visit the physical caves. The time and showtime you booked are the time of the movie (don’t miss it, or you may not be able to watch the movie); after arriving at the physical caves, everyone is divided into groups to follow the tour guide to enter the scenic area for a visit. Each group visits slightly different caves (about 10, several classic caves plus several random caves). If you are not satisfied, you can also wait until your group has finished the visit, and then join other groups (because everyone is wearing headphones to listen to the tour guide's explanation, each headphone has a different frequency and the tour guide will recycle it at the end of the tour, so you may not be able to hear the explanation if you follow others).

Since we had done some research before, the ticket office of Mogao Grottoes (also known as the digital center) was less than 3 kilometers away from the train station, so we made an appointment for the second show (in case the train was late), and the two crazy walkers walked all the way along the road to the ticket office (we had dumplings diagonally opposite the ticket office, and wanted to eat noodles, but it was too early and the store hadn't kneaded the dough yet, so the dumplings were expensive and unpalatable, but the meals at the scenic spots were the same), and we also saw Dunhuang at 6 o'clock. Then we watched a movie, took a ride to visit the scenic area, took a ride back to the ticket office, and took a taxi to the hotel (if there are more than 2 people, the taxi is cheaper, remember that it should not exceed 20 yuan at most, and those who want 30 yuan, tell them to go dead; you can also take the bus, I forgot where it stops in the city, please forgive me, a person in my 30s).

Friendly reminder: 1. Please do not touch or take photos with your hands when visiting the caves. Please queue up in order to avoid crowding, loud noises and other uncivilized behaviors; 2. Only some caves are open to the public every year in order to protect the caves. The CO2 and other gases we exhale will directly affect the life of the caves. Each cave is equipped with an instrument to detect air composition. Once the standard is exceeded, the cave will be closed and reopened after the indicators meet the standards. According to the tour guide, this process may take decades... So please understand the staff of the scenic area and cherish the national treasure; 3. There is the third tallest Buddha in China in the scenic area, which looks like a nine-story demon tower; 4. There are postcards and grapes sold in the service area of the scenic area (small grains, super sweet, thirst-quenching, with a faucet to wash, the fruits in Gansu are super sweet and delicious).

It was cold when I went there in the winter of 2013. Apart from me, there were no other tourists. The small entrance was covered by a curtain and it took me a while to find it.

The Dunhuang manuscripts in the museum attracted me the most. Although there are no pictures to support it, I still clearly remember seeing a torn dance score (pure text! It turns out that in addition to music scores, dance can also be expressed and recorded in words!) The frequent appearance of the remaining words: send~send~send~ immediately allows readers to imagine a series of rhythmic body movements.

Unfortunately, unlike other museums, cameras are not allowed to be brought in for photos without flash, and cameras must be handed in. This puzzled and saddened me. Fortunately, I explained the situation to a staff member in the museum. Apparently, the fact that everyone in the museum was staff except me moved her, and she allowed me to take a few quick photos with my phone.

By Xlsong |

It’s really okay, especially since you can take pictures of the iconic replica cave.

By Little chatterbox |

Bad review, bad review, bad review, ten thousand bad reviews. I have no problem not letting us bring water cups in, but the staff ate in the exhibition hall. Some people ate oranges, but some people even ate roasted sweet potatoes. This is embarrassing for Dunhuang.

The toilet was closed for maintenance and could only be used outside the museum. From the ticket office, the staff were playing with their phones.

The museum itself is OK, not very big, and it takes half an hour to look around.

The Dunhuang Museum was established in October 1979. It was formerly the archaeological group of the county cultural center. Many of its collections reproduce the glory of that time! The venue is not large, but the exhibits are quite rich. Many murals that cannot be seen in Mogao Grottoes can be seen here. The overall exhibition atmosphere is particularly good, and it feels like you are there. You can visit for free with your identity!

Dunhuang is a county-level city, and it is rare to have such a museum in such a small county-level city. Most of the cultural relics in the museum are unearthed cultural relics around Dunhuang.

By Morning |

Entering the center of the museum, the first thing we see is a large-scale beach model showing the models of the ruins of the Han Great Wall, Hecang City, Majuanwan, etc. in Dunhuang. In the museum, we can also see the 1:1 restoration model of Cave 45 of Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang and the text scrolls of the Sutra Cave. We also see the tomb relics unearthed from the Han, Jin, Sui and Tang dynasties, mainly pottery, stone tablets, stone pagodas, tomb guardians, lotus bricks, etc. We also saw stone tools, iron and copper tools, and objects woven with silk and linen yarn, which also provided sufficient physical objects and references for Dunhuang as a key route of the "Silk Road".

At the same time, when the Dunhuang Museum was first built, it also received donations of cultural relics from all over the country, which greatly enriched the collections in the museum.

Therefore, when traveling to Dunhuang, you must not miss the Dunhuang Museum. Remember to visit for free with your ID card.

It turned out that it was just too hot, so I chose a temporary place for camping in the desert after lunch, thinking that there would be air conditioning indoors and things to see. As a result, I went there and found a big surprise. The design of the museum is very good, and the items collected and exhibited are also very distinctive, which are well integrated with the design of the museum. There are no stairs between each floor. I followed the route before the trip and went up to the fifth floor unknowingly. There are still no stairs downstairs, just a gentle slope. The feeling of not being satisfied. The overall planning is very good, and there are many exhibits. One of the smiling Bodhisattva statues left a deep impression on me, but unfortunately I couldn’t take a photo and couldn’t reproduce it.

It's pretty good, but there are too many travel agencies, and they talk loudly, which is very noisy! There are a lot of things to see inside, and it's worth going if the itinerary is included!

There is some introduction about Dunhuang, you can go and have a look

This place can make up for the shortcomings of Mogao Grottoes, at least there are replica caves and related introductions.

The time is wrong. In summer, the museum opens at 9 o'clock. I came early and kept waiting. I submitted a correction and took a rest, but it was useless. There must be something wrong with this system! !

As a supplement to understanding Dunhuang history and culture, it is very good

Brick painting is the biggest feature here, and the collection of cultural relics mainly revolves around the Silk Road

There are many exhibits. I went there because I didn't buy a ticket to Mogao Grottoes. It's worth seeing. There are also many special products, but they are more expensive.

We arrived around 8:10, and they were doing morning exercises. It ended at 8:30, so we went to ask, and they said to come at 9 o'clock... Their attitude was bad, and they didn't even want to say a complete sentence.

I went in at 9 o'clock and checked my ID card. There were representative cultural relics and characteristics of each dynasty. It was very good and had a strong sense of culture. It took about an hour and a half.

The world-famous Silk Road, the Mingsha Mountain in the vast desert, the Mogao Grottoes with a thousand-year-old civilization, the crisp camel bells that have been passed down for thousands of years, the springs that stir the heart, even if I have to travel thousands of mountains and rivers just to see her.

Located on Yangguan East Road, about one kilometer from the city center, the Dunhuang Museum is a comprehensive museum with historical relics as its theme. The museum traces the evolution of Dunhuang from the Han Dynasty to the present day in a historically chronological manner. The museum has a rich collection of more than 4,000 items, including Han Dynasty stone tablets, stone pagodas, wooden objects from various periods, silk, pearls, jade, bricks, coins, weapons, jewelry, and the most important Mogao Grottoes Sutra Cave manuscripts, etc.

The museum currently has 4 exhibition halls. The east side of the second floor is the Dunhuang Han Great Wall exhibition, which uses a giant sand table model and a large number of pictures to display the Han Great Wall, beacon towers, and city gate ruins in Dunhuang. The east and west exhibition halls on the third floor are based on the unearthed cultural relics of Dunhuang throughout the dynasties, and through the cultural relics, they focus on reflecting the key position of Dunhuang in the Silk Road during the Han and Tang Dynasties. .

Due to the fact that the Mogao Grottoes are now restricted for cultural preservation, the only way to see the texts in the Scripture Cave in China is to visit the Dunhuang Museum. The famous "Dunhuang Manuscripts" and "Tibetan Buddhist Scriptures" have always been the treasures of the Dunhuang Museum and have attracted Chinese and foreign scholars. You can visit here for free, but you must remember to bring your ID card and other valid documents.

There are few people. You can exchange tickets for free with your ID card. There are replicas of Mogao Grottoes inside.

Dunhuang Museum is free, you can just swipe your ID card, but there is no physical ticket, and you can't bring water in. After entering, there is a long corridor that leads directly to the exhibition hall. The exhibition hall has several floors, but because it is connected by a ramp, there is no sense of floors. The exhibition hall is divided by dynasty, and there are bilingual annotations in Chinese and English under the exhibits. I saw a lot of knowledge that is not in history books here, such as information about the Guiyi Army in the Tang Dynasty.

Right next to the Mogao Grottoes, it details the history of the Mogao Grottoes, murals, etc.

Located in the south of Dunhuang City, the Dunhuang Museum is a museum that mainly displays the historical relics of Dunhuang, the capital of the Silk Road, and the precious relics in the Mogao Grottoes. It has many precious collections.

There are buses that go directly to the museum in the city, and the taxi fare is also the starting price. The museum is free to enter with an ID card. If you go to a city and have time, go to its museum to take a look. You can quickly understand its history and development, and you will definitely gain something.

We walked around for quite a while and took a long break at the souvenir shop. The staff there were very friendly. Although we didn't buy anything, she enthusiastically made us some authentic local snow chrysanthemum tea. We drank several cups before we were willing to leave. When we came back, we bought two cans on Taobao as gifts. We don't know if they are real or not, haha.

Back to the point, the Dunhuang Museum is not very big, but the furnishings are very attentive. I like the way the Tang Dynasty Go pieces are displayed the most, which is very creative. Dunhuang is a city where Chinese and Rong meet, so there are many exhibits in the museum that are very local and cannot be seen here.

Each tour guide will only take you to visit a few typical caves. If the crowd in Mogao Grottoes is crowded and you cannot hear the detailed introduction, it doesn’t matter. There are many research halls and museums outside, which have restored classics and detailed explanations. You can slowly indulge yourself here.

It only costs 5 yuan to take a taxi from the night market. The overall shape is quite unique, and thousands of years of Dunhuang history are all in it. In addition to cultural relics, there is also a simulated cave of Cave 45 of Mogao Grottoes, which is free. You can enter by swiping your ID card.

There is a restored model of Cave 45 of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, which can slightly make up for the regrets of the Mogao Grottoes.

On Mingshan North Road in the city of Dunhuang, there is a museum worth visiting. First of all, it is free, which is rare in Dunhuang attractions. Secondly, it can provide a relatively systematic understanding of Dunhuang’s past, present and future, especially the past. If you are not familiar with Dunhuang’s many historical sites and have not learned about them, it is recommended that you visit the museum first and then visit the attractions, so that you can at least get some ideas.

After scanning your ID card and exchanging it for a ticket, you can enter the museum. The entire museum has a "]" layout, with the entrance at the bottom, the exit at the top, and a garden in the middle.

After entering, just follow the instructions to visit, starting from the Han Dynasty, the development of Dunhuang, and also restored Cave 45 of Mogao Grottoes, a tomb chamber from the Tang Dynasty, all the way to the Qing Dynasty, and the names of the Qing Dynasty Dunhuang County Magistrates. The back is the development of Dunhuang after liberation and the future planning of Dunhuang. In the middle is a souvenir shop. It took more than an hour to walk around slowly.

Before queuing up to check in, the scenic area manager will give each person a headset to listen to the explanation. Each tour guide usually takes 25 people and usually leads a team to visit 8 to 10 caves. We were very lucky to visit 12 caves that day. It is absolutely forbidden to take photos in the caves, remember! But when you see with your own eyes that the sculptures from more than 1,000 years ago are still lifelike (many sculptures were copied in the Qing Dynasty due to human destruction), the colorful paintings are still gorgeous, the facial features are still vivid and three-dimensional, and the world's largest indoor Maitreya statue of more than 30 meters high in Cave 96, and the more than 10-meter reclining Buddha lying on the Buddha bed, who has already entered Nirvana, you will be shocked and surprised, and your heart will seem to be greatly impacted! Maybe at that moment you can understand a little bit that one flower is a world, and one leaf is a bodhi.
