Guangji Bridge, commonly known as Xiangzi Bridge, was first built in 1171 AD. It is known as one of the “Four Great Ancient Bridges in China” along with Zhaozhou Bridge, Luoyang Bridge and Lugou Bridge.
The bridge deck is ancient and quaint, and the bridge body spans the Han River. It is a combination of a beam bridge, an arch bridge and a floating bridge. Its structure is very special and can be regarded as a unique example of a bridge in my country. There is a saying that "If you don't visit the bridge when the tide comes, it's a wasted trip."
There are memorial archways and exquisite pavilions on the piers, with 24 pavilions of 24 types. In the middle, there is a floating bridge (open and close type, navigable at night) connected by 18 ancient shuttle boats. The combination of beams and boats is both rigid and flexible. It is very interesting to walk on it.
Due to navigation needs, the floating bridge will be folded up at around 5:30 pm to allow cargo ships to pass through the river, and you can enjoy the unique scenery of "crossing the river and dismantling the bridge".

Recommended reason: Guangji Bridge, also known as Xiangzi Bridge, is located outside the east gate of the ancient city of Chaozhou, Guangdong Province. It spans the Han River and was an important transportation route from Guangdong to Fujian and Zhejiang in ancient times. It is also one of the eight scenic spots in Chaozhou. Guangji Bridge is known as one of the four ancient bridges in China together with Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei, Lugou Bridge in Beijing, and Luoyang Bridge in Fujian. Guangji Bridge is a floating beam combined structure, consisting of two sections of stone beam bridges in the east and west and a floating bridge in the middle. It is known as "the earliest opening and closing bridge in the world". It is said that the floating bridge will be evacuated around 5:30 pm to ensure navigation of large ships!
Night scene lighting time:
1. Monday to Sunday 19:00-22:30 every night
2. National holidays 19:00-23:00 every night
3. The Guangji Bridge "Light and Shadow Show" will be performed every night from 21:00 to 21:16 and 22:00 to 22:16 from Monday to Thursday; and every night from 20:00 to 20:16 and 21:00 to 21:16 from Friday to Sunday (the show programs are the same).
Standing on the bridge, you can enjoy the vast river view and the breeze. When the sun sets, the sunset glows and the sunset is beautiful. It is suitable for friends and family to walk on the stone bridge, enjoy the river view and the breeze.
Guangji Bridge is close to one end of the ancient city entrance, and there are many tourists. There is a special ticket point next to it, just queue up to buy tickets~
The sunlight slanted through the gaps in the city gate tower, and the whole picture was beautiful.
The floating bridge is made up of eighteen boats. When people walk on it, the bridge sways. The stronger the wind and waves on the river, the more violent the shaking.
Watching the sunset from the Guangji Bridge, the view of the river is wide, which is very suitable for watching the sunset.
There is an iron gate at the entrance and exit at the other end of Guangji Bridge because Guangji Gate is closed at night.
As night falls, the lights on the piers and towers of Guangji Bridge are turned on. Under the light, Guangji Bridge looks particularly beautiful.
⛩Guangji Bridge, one of the four ancient bridges in China, is located in Chaozhou City. Chaozhou is indeed a city with a profound cultural heritage.
🏠The coordinates are near Han Wengong Temple, Paifang Street, Chaozhou Ancient City and other attractions. It is recommended to take a taxi or walk. There are many people and cars during the Spring Festival, and it is really difficult to find a parking space.
💰Tickets: free for military personnel and senior citizens, ordinary tickets are 15 yuan each
🌊"Listening to the waves" versus "appreciating the rain", "looking for the unicorn" versus "looking for the phoenix", every courtyard and every plaque is worth reading carefully.
⛄️The small house on the bridge simply displays some Chaozhou intangible cultural heritage items, including purple clay teapots of tea culture, exquisite three-dimensional Chaozhou embroidery, etc. The small house will probably close early around 4:30 pm. If you want to visit them one by one, it is recommended to come early.
❤️Because the car was parked near Han Wengong Temple, I did not cross the bridge, but walked to the shuttle boat, watched the "crossing the river and demolishing the bridge" and returned. I did not appreciate the colorful Guangji Bridge in the night. Maybe I will leave the night bridge scenery to the destined person, and let's cross the bridge hand in hand next time❤️
The ticket price has long been reduced from 50 yuan to 20 yuan, and you cannot cross the bridge after 16:30. At 17:30, the boats are collected and navigation begins, and the lights on the tower are turned on at the same time. At this time, the east bank of the Han River is the best place to watch.
In addition to the river views on both sides of the river, there are also beautiful couplets and pavilion inscriptions. The 24 pavilions are of different shapes and structures, vivid and elegant, with Chaozhou embroidery, straw paintings, and ceramics hidden in them.
After passing Guangji Tower, the legendary Guangji Bridge is across the street. People say that you must visit this bridge. When I came here more than ten years ago, the bridge had just been repaired, but the ticket price was more than 50 yuan, so I couldn't bear to go. Now it's good, the ticket price has been reduced to 20 yuan, and there is a 20% discount during major festivals.
There are 24 piers on the bridge, which are covered with archways and buildings of various shapes.
The highlight of the bridge is right in the middle, a floating bridge connected by 18 boats. The view from the bridge is very ordinary, probably because there are not many buildings on the shore.
It's past five o'clock, and we have to prepare to close the bridge and stop walking. We have to know our position first, otherwise we won't be able to cross the bridge after it is demolished, and we will have to have good luck to get back.
What does "crossing the river and demolishing the bridge" mean? The two boats were towed away with workers to help dismantle the boats, with three boats towed away each time. Just after a few boats were towed away, a large number of transport fleets began to shuttle through, and the river was very busy.
The lighting on Guangji Bridge at night is still good and worth seeing.
The Guangji Bridge across the Han River is a must-see attraction in Chaozhou. After several destructions and reconstructions, the bridge has lost all its charm except for the old stone beams in the middle of the bridge piers. The Guangji Tower, seen from the ticket office, is still quite majestic and spectacular.
After a short walk on the stone slab bridge, there is a beautiful bridge pavilion for tourists to rest and enjoy the view. The view is wide and the scenery is excellent. Compared with it, the Luoyang Bridge in Quanzhou is just a simple country girl.
The connection time of the 18 floating boats is different in winter and summer. In addition to the fixed connection time, the floating bridge will be disconnected every day to allow passing ships to pass. This is also a major feature of the Guangji Bridge, which is truly a bridge that is dismantled after crossing the river.
The antique bridge pavilion is quite nice, but it is too new. I have a lot of complaints about new things. The exit of Guangji Bridge is opposite the gate of Hanshan Normal University.
Buy a ticket for 20 yuan from the opposite side of Guangji Gate, stroll along Guangji Bridge, feel the cool river breeze, listen to Chaozhou music, and forget all the troubles in the world. 100 meters to the left of the end is Han Yu Memorial Hall, which can be entered for free with ID card. On the way back, you can walk across Guangji Bridge again and return to Guangji Gate with the Memorial Hall ticket and Guangji Bridge ticket.
The scenic area stops admission at 4:30 pm, and the most distinctive floating bridge will be folded up to allow cargo ships to pass through the river, because the scenic area had stopped admission when we came the day before. So as soon as we came out of Han Wengong Temple, we went to Guangji Bridge across the road and planned to walk across the bridge and visit the city tower at Guangji Gate.
When I arrived at the ticket office, I learned that the 18-boat boat had stopped connecting due to strong winds that day. There are always these regrets in travel, so let's take it as a reason for me to come to Chaozhou next time!
It is a completely different feeling to look at the bridge from below and to go up on it, so we decided to go up on the bridge to experience it. Yi Niu was already out of control, and she ran straight away after getting on the bridge, jumping excitedly on the bridge.
Standing on the bridge, you can see the vast river view and another modern bridge in the distance - Jinshan Bridge.
The buildings on the bridge are very characteristic of Chaozhou ancient culture and are worth a careful look.
On the last night in Chaozhou, we went to Guangji Bridge to watch the light show. There are two light shows every day, each lasting 16 minutes, from Monday to Thursday at 8:00 and 9:00, and from Friday to Sunday at 9:00 and 10:00.
We calculated the time and arrived early before the light show. There was a young man playing guitar and singing beautiful folk songs on the shore. Behind him was the Guangji Bridge illuminated by lights. The scene in front of us felt particularly beautiful.
The light show started on time. As the music sounded, the lights of Guangji Bridge kept changing with the rhythm. The lights and music were closely combined, sometimes soothing, sometimes exciting, sometimes smart, and sometimes melodious. The whole show felt particularly shocking.
When the music ends, the ancient bridge immediately returns to its usual tranquility and simplicity. If the weather is good, you can take a walk along the shore with a few friends, and when you are tired, you can enjoy the night view and the breeze of the Han River.
On the way back to the inn, we passed Guangji Gate again. It was a different feeling when the lights were turned on at night. I couldn’t help but sigh that the night view of Chaozhou is so beautiful!
Guangji Bridge at night is very different from that during the day. As night falls and the light show begins, I hear "Chaozhou People". The music calms my mind. The atmosphere in front of me gives us a different kind of enjoyment, and an inexplicable nostalgia surges in my heart. When neon lights meet the ancient city, simplicity and beauty meet, tradition and modernity are compatible, simplicity and prosperity collide... The gorgeous image and the ancient bridge complement each other, and the shining light is like a couple coming together, and they fall in love at first sight!
If I were to ask you, it would be like the Tower Bridge in London, which I just visited. Both bridges have the middle that can be opened to allow boats to pass through. However, the Tower Bridge in London is powered by an electronic system (of course, it used to be powered by coal), while the Guangji Bridge has stone bridges on both sides that extend to the middle. The middle section is empty, and if you want to allow people to pass through, you can connect a small boat in the middle. The Chinese way of thinking is indeed different from that of Westerners.
In the morning, Guangji Bridge was still in a broken state. The distant mountains on the river bank were continuous, and the clouds were floating around. In the fresh morning air, it was a bit of a leisurely and comfortable feeling.
When I walked to the entrance of Guangji Gate at night, I felt that the effect of the lights on the city wall was so beautiful. The background was the blue-black sky, and the shining lights made the originally old city gate look particularly dazzling.
I continued walking outside and found that the light at the entrance of Guangji Bridge Ticket Office was constantly changing colors. I didn't react at first and was still taking pictures on the street. When I realized that the background music was playing all the time and the crowd was rushing to one place, I suddenly reacted.
When I ran to the riverside, I saw a crowd of people gathered around Guangji Bridge.
It turned out there was a light show.
After squeezing in with great difficulty, I found it was indeed quite exciting, because the light show on the bridge itself was quite novel. On the other side of the river, the bridge was also shining with colorful lights, which was even more beautiful.
Although the music was a bit tacky and the drums were too noisy, I suddenly became happy and excited as I followed the enthusiastic tourists shouting and watching the colorful lights shining on the bridge and on the other side of the river.
The light show didn't last too long. When everything was over and everyone left, I stayed by the river to take some photos of the Guangji Bridge at night under the lights, but I found that the other side of the river was so beautiful that it was dazzling. The area with lights was huge, like a shining golden leaf covering the building opposite. The surroundings were pitch black, and the river was also black. In contrast, there was an inexplicable sense of tranquility and beauty.
It is best to go to Guangji Bridge around 15:00 in the afternoon, because tourists will be cleared out at 16:00 and the bridge will be dismantled. The ticket for Guangji Bridge is 20 yuan per person. People over 60 years old can go directly to the bridge with their ID cards. There are many people on the bridge during this period, and everyone is waiting for the time to cross the river and dismantle the bridge. You can walk from one end to the other after going on the bridge. Watch the time and don't be trapped at the other end of the bridge. Go back to the floating boat to the tower and occupy a favorable position. The "bridge dismantling" starts at 4:30, and you can watch the "bridge dismantling".
Guangji Bridge, also known as Xiangzi Bridge, spans Hanjiang River and is one of the four ancient bridges in China. It is as famous as Zhaozhou Bridge, Luoyang Bridge and Lugou Bridge. It was built in the seventh year of Qiandao Period in Southern Song Dynasty (1171). It is cleverly connected by two sections of stone beam bridge in the east and west and a floating bridge composed of 18 shuttle boats in the middle, forming a unique "18 shuttle boats and 24 islands" pattern. It is known as the earliest opening and closing bridge in the world. Its architectural style integrates beam bridge, floating bridge and arch bridge. The floating bridge in the middle can be untied to make way for the channel to adapt to the change of water level in Hanjiang River. The bridge is dotted with 24 pavilions of different shapes, which are called "24 pavilions and 24 styles". It has both transportation and commercial functions and has the reputation of "one mile long bridge and one mile market". There is a folk song that "If you go to Chaozhou but don't go to the bridge, you will have wasted your trip to Chaozhou".
Guangji Bridge and other places in Chaozhou are just so-so. There is no need to buy a ticket to go up there. Just look at it from the outside. The night view and lighting are also so-so. It is better to go shopping and check in at Paifang Street.
Generally speaking, "demolishing the bridge after crossing it" is definitely a derogatory term, describing a person's bad qualities. However, in Chaozhou, "demolishing the bridge after crossing it" has become a symbolic city name card. People from all over the country come here from all directions just to see that magical moment, which is why there is the second half of the folk song: "If you go to Chaozhou but don't go to the bridge, it's a wasted trip." Chaozhou Guangji Bridge, Beijing Lugou Bridge, Hebei Zhaozhou Bridge, Fujian Quanzhou Luoyang Bridge are listed as "China's Four Ancient Bridges". It is located outside the east gate of Chaozhou Ancient City, spanning over the Han River, connecting the east and west banks of the city. This is a unique bridge that combines a beam bridge, a floating bridge, and an arch bridge. There is a stone beam bridge on each side of the Han River, which is composed of bridge piers, stone beams and bridge pavilions. The floating bridge in the middle is connected by 18 wooden boats. Although people who watch the bridge say that there are very few ships sailing on the Han River, the amazing thing is that a real scene of "crossing the river and demolishing the bridge" is still played out here every day. The bridge is open to traffic during the day, but in the evening it will be broken into two parts, opening and closing for more than 800 years, and is known as "the earliest opening and closing bridge in the world."
This landmark attraction in Chaozhou is also one of the oldest ancient bridges in China. It is definitely worth a visit (cross the bridge during the day and watch the light show at night). We originally planned to stay in Chaozhou for only half a day, but after reading the introduction of netizens, we deliberately changed the itinerary to three days and two nights.
The scenic area opens at 9 am and you can go up the bridge, but the bridge is not so fast, it takes at least half an hour. During this time, people who go up the bridge can only be in the middle, crowded with people. It is recommended to watch the boat on the shore now, and buy tickets to cross the bridge after it is clear.
The light show at night is highly recommended, but it is best to watch it on the west coast, because there are also background lights on the mountains on the east coast. The light show has music. I watched it in the hotel on the first day. The soundproofing was so good that I thought I could only hear the movie but no sound.

There is a light show at Guangji Bridge every night. Currently, starting from March 27, 2023, there will be two light shows on weekends and statutory holidays, one at 20:00 and one at 21:30, each lasting 10 minutes. From Monday to Thursday, which are not statutory holidays, there will only be one show at 20:00 every night.
The bridge body, which is a combination of beams and boats, spans the Han River. The shuttle boats in the middle can be dismantled and connected, which can be used to open or close navigation. The Chaozhou people at that time created the earliest opening and closing bridge.
Tickets are 20 yuan. It is one of the four ancient bridges in China. The other three are Zhaozhou Bridge, Lugou Bridge and Luoyang Bridge. It is also the earliest opening and closing bridge in the world. During the day, the Guangji Bridge across the Han River is connected by floating boats for people to pass through. When night falls, the floating boats will be removed, leaving the waterway open for ships to pass through.
【Guangji Bridge】Commonly known as Xiangzi Bridge, it is located outside the east gate of Chaozhou Ancient City, facing the Guangji Gate Tower, spanning the Han River. Its characteristic is that the floating bridge in the middle is connected by 18 wooden boats. It is one of the eight scenic spots in Chaozhou. The ticket price is 20 yuan per person. Due to the epidemic, the light show in the evening has been cancelled.
Guangji Bridge, commonly known as the Shuttle Bridge. With a history of more than 800 years, the ancient bridge was first built in the seventh year of Qiandao in the Southern Song Dynasty (1171 AD) and formed the pattern of "18 shuttle boats and 24 islands" in the ninth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1530 AD). It spans the Han River, connecting the east and west banks, and cleverly combines the three ancient bridge types: arch bridges at both ends, followed by beam bridges, and boat bridges in the middle of the river. The pavilions and towers of various forms on the bridge, the floating bridge composed of 18 boats, and the solemnity and agility are exquisite. It is one of the eight scenic spots in Chaozhou and one of the four ancient bridges in China. In order to meet the navigation needs of the Han River, the Guangji Bridge will be closed and opened at specific times every day, so the Guangji Bridge is also the earliest opening and closing bridge in the world. At 16:30 in the afternoon, we came to the Guangji Bridge to watch the grand opening of the Guangji Bridge every day. Two tugboats slowly approached the shuttle boat pontoon, and then each towed one or two shuttle boats and slowly sailed to the special dock on the shore. At this time, the Guangji Bridge, which was originally connected, was disconnected little by little, which was very spectacular.
Guangji Bridge is the earliest existing open and close movable stone bridge. With its unique style of "18 shuttle boats and 24 islands", it is known as one of the four ancient bridges in China, along with Zhaozhou Bridge, Luoyang Bridge and Lugou Bridge. It was once praised by famous bridge expert Mao Yisheng as "the earliest open and close bridge in the world". Guangji Bridge, commonly known as Xiangzi Bridge, was built by the governor Zeng Jiang in the seventh year of Qiandao Period of Song Dynasty (1171). It was originally a floating bridge, connected by 86 huge ships and named "Kangji Bridge". In the first year of Chunxi Period (1174), the floating bridge was washed away by floods. The governor Chang Wei rebuilt it and built Jie Pavilion on the west bank, starting the construction of the bridge piers on the west bank. In the first year of Shaoding Period (1194), after 54 years, governors Zhu Jiang, Wang Zhenggong, Ding Yunyuan and Sun Shujin successively built and completed the construction of ten bridge piers. Among them, the bridge built by governor Ding Yunyuan in the 16th year of Chunxi Period (1189) was the largest and most meritorious, so it was renamed the West Bridge "Dinggong Bridge". In the fifth year of Shaoxi (194 AD), the prefect Shen Zongyu "laid stones on the east bank" and built the "Gaixiu Pavilion", and called the East Bridge "Jichuan Bridge". Then, the prefects Chen Honggui, Lin Piao and Lin Hui successively built more. By the second year of Kaixi (1206 AD), it took twelve years to build thirteen bridge piers. After the east and west bridges were built, they were still connected by floating boats in the middle, forming a basic pattern of combining beam bridges and floating bridges. From the end of the Song Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty, Guangji Bridge had many ups and downs. In the tenth year of Ming Xuande (1435 AD), the prefect Wang Yuan presided over the unprecedented "reconstruction of stacked stones". After completion, "the west bank had ten piers and nine holes, with a total length of 49 feet and five feet; the east bank had thirteen piers and twelve holes, with a total length of 86 wen; the middle was 27 feet and three feet, and twenty-four boats were built as floating bridges", and "126 pavilions and houses were built" on the bridge, and it was renamed "Guangji Bridge". In the eighth year of Zhengde (1513), the prefect Tan Lun added another pier and reduced six floating boats, thus forming the unique style of "eighteen shuttle boats and twenty-four islands".
Today, the Guangji Bridge, except for the design concept of the floating bridge, has been rebuilt, which is a pity. However, the merits outweigh the flaws. As one of the four ancient bridges in China, the Guangji Bridge is still worth a visit. The route can be arranged as a one-day tour of Chaozhou Ancient City - Archway Street - Guangji Gate - Guangji Bridge - Han Gong Temple.

Chaozhou's iconic landmark. It has its own characteristics during the day and at night. It happened to be a light show on the weekend, which was quite interesting. If you are interested, you can check the time. It starts at 8pm and there are more people.
Guangji Bridge is a masterpiece of ancient bridge construction. Located outside the east gate of the ancient city of Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, it was first built in the Song Dynasty and has a history of more than 800 years.
The unique structure combines beam bridges, arch bridges, floating bridges and other forms into one, embodying the wisdom and art of the ancient working people.
It is the first opening and closing bridge in China and the first in the world. With its unique style of "eighteen shuttle boats and twenty-four continents", it is known as one of the four major ancient bridges in China along with the Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei, the Luoyang Bridge in Quanzhou, and the Marco Polo Bridge (also known as Lugou Bridge) in Beijing.
It is a famous cultural relic tourist destination in Chaoshan area and a national key cultural relic protection unit.
Guangji Bridge day and night, the light show at night, awesome
After leaving Paifang Street and crossing the Guangji Bridge Tower, you will see the Guangji Bridge. The most unique feature of the bridge is that the floating bridge in the middle will be retracted after 5:30 pm to allow ships to pass through.
In ancient times, without modern tools, this bridge was built.
It is recommended to watch it at night, the lighting effect is good, tickets are required during the day and it is not cost-effective
Guangji Bridge, facing the Guangji Gate of Chaozhou City Wall, spans the Han River, connecting the east and west banks, and was an important transportation hub for Guangdong to Fujian and Zhejiang in ancient times. Guangji Bridge is a combination of beam bridge, floating bridge and arch bridge. It is a unique example of ancient bridge in my country and one of the four ancient bridges. There are 12 pavilions built on the east and west sides of the bridge. In the rapids in the middle of the river, 18 boats are connected to form a floating bridge, which can be removed when passing ships. However, the bridge we see now was fully restored in 2003 based on the overall style of the Ming Dynasty. The names of the people who donated money to build the bridge are written on the pillars of the pavilions, and Li Ka-shing's name is prominently listed.
It is recommended to visit Guangji Bridge twice. During the day, you can go directly across the bridge to Hangong Temple on Han Mountain and experience it up close. After dinner, you can stroll over there again. At 8 o'clock, you can watch the light show on the river bank, which lasts about 20 minutes. The lights are not only on the bridge, but also on the entire Han Mountain behind it. It is really worth seeing.
A famous attraction in Chaozhou, a bridge connected by boats.
The night view is beautiful! There is also a light show at 9 o'clock in the evening, accompanied by trendy music, which is very unique!
Although the weather is not very good, the uniqueness of Guangji Bridge is still memorable at first sight.
The night view is better than the daytime, and the winter opening hours are closed at 4:30 pm.
There seems to be something at night... that's it... the night view
Very unique, there will be a light show at night~
I happened to catch the Guangji Bridge light show at 9pm, and the background music was really spectacular.
The next day was Saturday, and there were a lot of people. We watched the bridge demolition before leaving.
The bridge was dismantled three by three, from the beginning to the end. The wind was really strong, but it was very comfortable.
The most important scenic spot in Chaozhou, ticket price is 20 yuan, and it is a national key cultural relic protection site (3). In case of strong winds, the wooden boat will be disconnected in the middle and you can only visit half of it and cannot cross the river. The ticket price is also reduced to 10 yuan.
I originally planned to cross the river along the Guangji Bridge and visit the Han Wengong Temple on the other side of the river.
As a result, the bridge was broken and we had to find another way.
The whole bridge is not connected together, but divided into two parts, east and west, because the water in the middle is turbulent and it is impossible to build a bridge, so if you want to go to the other side, you can only take a boat to go there~
Such an ancient bridge worth seeing, of course there are crowds of people! There are so many people, I am afraid that the bridge will collapse suddenly.
By the way, if you want to go up the bridge, you must finish the visit before 5pm, because you can’t go back after 5pm.
There will be a light and music show at Guangji Bridge around 8:30 pm. The lights on the opposite mountain will also change with the music. It will last until around 10 pm. Please pay attention to the time if you want to watch it.
The only pity is that I didn't see the light show at night.
The famous Guangji Bridge, one of the four famous bridges in ancient China, can be regarded as a landmark building in Chaozhou. The most peculiar thing about this opening and closing bridge is that the center of the bridge is connected by a floating bridge made of more than ten wooden boats. During the day, the floating bridge is open to allow passing ships to pass through. However, the 50 yuan ticket fee is really a rip-off. It is better to look at it from a distance, which can be regarded as a visit and check in.
Guangji Bridge seems to have light shows every hour at night. We watched the ones at 20:00 and 21:00.
The middle part of Guangji Bridge is disconnected. It is connected by boats during the day and separated at night to facilitate the passage of ships. With music and changing lights, the river reflects the mountains and rivers, which is very charming.
Guangji Bridge is now famous for its night light show. The scenery of Hanshan Mountain, Hanjiang River and the lights of the pavilions and stone beams on the bridge change with the music, which is quite shocking. Compared with the musical fountain, it is a different feeling.
The view at night is nice, and there is a light show every Saturday, which starts at 8 o'clock and lasts for 15 minutes
Chaozhou is actually more suitable for the elderly to take a leisurely trip to trace their roots
Guangji Bridge, one of the eight famous scenic spots in Chaozhou, was built in 1171 and has a history of nearly 850 years. It is also the world's first hoist-and-close bridge, the Xiangzi Bridge. Guangji Bridge is also known as one of the four ancient bridges in China along with Zhaozhou Bridge, Lugou Bridge and Luoyang Bridge.
It is a leisurely place suitable for taking a walk and enjoying the breeze after dinner. There are many uncles fishing nearby, and an old man flying a kite, which is hung on a tree and is trying to pull it down.
The ticket to the bridge is 20 yuan, and the night view is beautiful! It's worth a visit!
Now, the various scenic spots surrounding this bridge and connecting the two sides of the Han River are the core essence of Chaozhou and are worth exploring in detail!
Of course, the one that you cannot miss is the light show at Guangji Bridge. It is a large-scale real-life light show with Han Mountain as the background and Guangji Bridge as the main body, combined with various modern lighting technologies and music. It is free, and the performance time of the light show is the same as that of National Day and the weekend!
Now the Guangji Bridge and Hanshan (Bijiashan) on the opposite bank have been beautifully decorated with lights, making people look forward to the light show later!
The Guangji Bridge Pavilion is lit up in various shapes and sizes!
The performance started and there was a huge crowd, but it was a great feeling. The momentum was amazing with the 800-year-old ancient building as the background!
Please note that the Guangji Bridge is open relatively late, from 9 a.m. in the peak season to 10 a.m. in the off-season. Also, because the floating boats in the middle need to be connected manually, it will not be fully connected until 9:30 a.m. However, if you go up to the bridge early you can watch the connection process, which is quite interesting!
Now the ticket price for Guangji Bridge has been reduced to 20 yuan (it was 50-60 yuan in previous years), and people over 60 years old can get in for free with their ID cards. During the National Day holiday, there is a 25% discount, which is 15 yuan. But please note that this is a one-way ticket, which means that once you cross the bridge and exit the gate of the scenic area, you will have to buy a new ticket to come back!
When we walked to the key position where the floating beam meets the ground, we saw that it was indeed very distinctive when we looked closely!
Nowadays, many pavilions have become traditional craft and souvenir shops. It is said that there was also a bridge market on the ancient bridge in the past. From morning to dusk, merchants gathered here, and it was very lively. Walking on the bridge, one can't help but look forward to the grand occasion of the past!
There are still some ancient bridge structures preserved on Guangji Bridge, which you can admire carefully.
At the end, there is a special ancient bridge display area!
Hanshan Normal University is right in front of Guangji Bridge. The Yanghan Pavilion at the end of Guangji Bridge is respectfully facing the Han Wengu Temple in Bijia Mountain. This respect is very pious!
After all, it is a national key cultural relic protection unit and is considered the most unmissable scenery in the whole Chaozhou. The river view of Hanjiang River is very beautiful, and coupled with the Guangji Bridge, this is the impression of Chaozhou.
You need to buy a ticket to climb the Guangji Bridge. There are quite a lot of tourists during the National Day.
You can enjoy a free large-scale light show every night at 9pm and 10pm. It’s best to arrive early and find a good spot to enjoy it.
50 meters along Dongmen Street is the famous Guangji Tower in the ancient city of Chaozhou. Passing through the Guangji Tower is the riverside promenade on the west bank of the Han River.
As it was close to 5pm, Guangji Bridge was only open for exit but not for entry.
Looking at the Guangji Bridge from a distance, it is shaped like a dragon, spanning the two banks of the Han River. It has withstood the wind, rain and sun for thousands of years, silently guarding the ancient city of Chaozhou.
According to the staff, there will be a large light show on both sides of Guangji Bridge from 9pm to 10pm from Monday to Thursday, each show lasts about 20 minutes. Due to weather reasons, the light show may be cancelled today.
The next day we went to buy tickets to go up the bridge. Tickets cost 20 yuan each.
Walking and stopping on the bridge, immersing yourself in the history of the Tang and Song dynasties thousands of years ago, looking out at the Han River from the pavilions, the waves are sparkling, and the fragments of history are like these shimmering waves, picked up and disillusioned. The river breeze hisses the flag with red background and gold characters standing on the floating bridge, as if to repeat the proverb "If you reach the tide but don't reach the bridge, your trip is in vain" a thousand times. "Two iron bulls, one slips away", the lonely iron bull seems to raise its head and neck, facing the Han River, and howling in search of its lost companion.
At around 9pm, a flash of lightning streaked across the sky, and a giant dragon rose from the dark silhouette of Hanshan Mountain. The light and shadows on Guangji Bridge flew back and forth like shooting stars. With the rhythm of the music, the pavilions and towers on the bridge also changed colors, as if returning to the prosperity of the past. The light show is held at 9pm and 10pm from Monday to Thursday, and starts at 8pm on weekends.
Guangji Bridge, also known as Xiangzi Bridge, is located outside the east gate of Chaozhou Ancient City. It spans the Han River and connects the east and west banks. It was an important transportation hub for Fujian and Guangdong in ancient times. It is known as one of the four ancient bridges in China, along with Zhaozhou Bridge, Luoyang Bridge, and Lugou Bridge. The bridge is a combination of beam bridge, floating bridge, and arch bridge, and is a unique example in the history of Chinese bridges. Guangji Bridge is connected during the day for pedestrians to cross the river, and is opened at night for boats to pass through. "Xiang Bridge Spring Rise" is the most beautiful scenery of Guangji Bridge, which refers to "the peach blossom flood in late spring in March, the Han River rises, the river surface widens, and the rise and fall of the eighteen shuttle boats rise and fall with the tide and are connected to the east and west piers of the bridge. Although I didn't see the "Xiang Bridge Spring Rise", from the photos I took, Guangji Bridge is indeed very beautiful.
The antiquity of Guangji Bridge can be seen from Han Temple, and the grandeur of Guangji Bridge can be seen from Han River.
Regardless of the origin of this bridge, walking along the river and looking at the brightly lit bridge piers and the forest with starry sky is indeed like entering a starry fairyland.
After tasting the delicious food on Paifang Street, we walked through Guangji Gate. We could see many tricycles around here. They quoted a price of more than 50 yuan, but we could usually bargain down to 30 yuan. The tricycles would take passengers to four or five nearby scenic spots. Note that they would recommend some shops on the way, so be careful. The ticket price for Guangji Bridge is a little expensive. We just wandered outside, enjoying the river breeze. We kind of longed for holding hands and strolling leisurely along the river at night. The hustle and bustle of life suddenly became quiet, and we enjoyed the beauty of the moment.
One of the famous ancient bridges in China, the world's earliest retractable floating bridge, which can be used for people to walk on and for ships to pass when the bridge is open. Now the bridge body has been repaired and the bridge pavilion has been rebuilt. Every day, the boat beam floating bridge part is opened and merged on time. This is the most iconic landscape in Chaozhou. The ticket is a bit expensive, but the scenery outside is also beautiful if you don't go on the bridge.
If you are visiting Guangji Bridge from Guangji Gate Tower and want to return by the same route after visiting Han Gong Temple and Hanshan Normal College on the other side, you can register your ID card when you exit Guangji Bridge and bring the Han Gong Temple ticket with you when you return, so you don't need to buy a new ticket.
A very worthwhile attraction, with a light show at night
I went to Guangji Bridge last month. My brother said: If you come to Chaoshan and don't go to Guangji Bridge, it's like you haven't been there. So I took a taxi and went straight to Guangji Bridge. I started to climb the bridge at 4 pm. The ticket price was 20 yuan. There were quite a lot of people. I heard that many of them were Cantonese. Everyone seemed to have a special liking for this bridge. I also took a brief look at the introduction of the bridge head for the history of this bridge. The bridge was built in the seventh year of Qiandao in the Southern Song Dynasty (1171 AD) and formed the pattern of "eighteen shuttle boats and twenty-four islands" in the ninth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1530 AD). On the eve of liberation, Guangji Bridge was already in ruins. In 1958, the entire bridge was reinforced and repaired, and the eighteen shuttle boats were removed. It was rebuilt into a three-hole steel frame and two high-pile bearing platform bridge. In October 2003, Guangji Bridge began to be fully repaired. The overall restoration was based on the style of the Ming Dynasty. The function was positioned as a tourist sightseeing pedestrian bridge. It was completed in 2007.
According to the inscription, it cost more than 100 million to rebuild the bridge, with private donations of more than 70 million and government funding of more than 30 million. There is a stone tablet with a list of the largest private donations, among which the name of Li Ka-shing, a representative of Chaoshan businessmen, is ranked first, with a donation of 7 million. The rest are basically donations from representatives of Chaoshan Chambers of Commerce in various places. The overall experience is: Chaoshan businessmen are really rich and united!
As for the bridge itself, the feeling it gives people is that the middle of the bridge is movable. It is connected by 18 wooden boats to form a floating bridge. When a large ship passes by, the floating bridge can be disbanded. This design is quite unique, because no matter how high the merchant ship is, it can pass through the Guangji Bridge. Another advantage of this design is that it is conducive to flood discharge and reduces the impact and damage of floods on the bridge piers. Kill two birds with one stone!
Guangji Bridge is also called Xiangzi Bridge. Chaozhou has many ancient cultural buildings, and Xiangzi Bridge is one of them. It is also one of the four existing ancient bridges in my country. Its piers are also very special. In short, it has an antique atmosphere and is very distinctive.
The most famous attraction in Chaozhou is Guangji Bridge. There are stone piers on both sides of the bridge, with 30 bridge pavilions on them. In the middle is a floating bridge connected by 18 wooden boats. At 5:30 pm every day in summer, the 12 wooden boats in the middle are towed away by tugboats, allowing merchant ships, sand-carrying ships and cruise ships to pass at night; at 10 am, the towed wooden boats return to their positions, allowing tourists to pass on the bridge, and this cycle repeats every day. When I arrived the day before, I happened to see the tugboat towing the wooden boat in the middle away. When I arrived that day, I happened to see the staff returning the wooden boats to their positions, and tourists stayed by the bridge waiting to pass. Each bridge pavilion on the bridge has its own characteristics, and the most special one is the movable floating bridge. Standing on the bridge, you can see the unobstructed Han River, and the scenery is still good. There is a light show at 9 o'clock, which is just right after dinner, so I went to join in the fun. At a certain time, the piers and bridge pavilions on the Guangji Bridge are lit up with colorful lights. Dozens of giant searchlights on both sides of the river illuminate the night sky. The lights change in various ways in coordination with the exciting music. It is very shocking and worth seeing.
Guangji Bridge, commonly known as Xiangzi Bridge, spans the Han River, connecting the east and west banks. It was an important transportation hub from Guangdong to Fujian and Zhejiang in ancient times, and is also one of the eight scenic spots in Chaozhou. Guangji Bridge is also known as one of the four ancient bridges in China along with Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei, Lugou Bridge in Beijing, and Luoyang Bridge in Fujian.
The Guangji Bridge is a unique example of an ancient bridge in my country, combining beam bridge, floating bridge and arch bridge. It is also known as one of the four ancient bridges in China, along with the Zhaozhou Bridge, Luoyang Bridge and Lugou Bridge, for its unique style of "18 shuttle boats and 24 continents". It was praised by the famous bridge expert Mao Yisheng as "the earliest hoisting and closing bridge in the world".
I came here after dinner. You need a ticket to go up the bridge, which is 20 yuan. UnionPay QuickPass is having a promotion, offering 15 yuan off for every 30 yuan spent, so I registered. It cost 25 yuan for two people, which is a good price.
After resting at night, I went out again to see the night view and the light show. Many people came here to enjoy the cool air. It seemed that there were many banyan trees here. Are these banyan trees?
I was just shocked by the hills on the other side of the river at night. The hills were full of lights, which was not very pretty! The sky was bright, and the photos I took looked like an alien invasion!
I walked around Xiangzi Bridge in the afternoon and felt the breeze in the shade. It was so cool and comfortable. I just wanted to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea! But when I walked under the sun, it was super hot again!
The middle section is connected by boats. It seems that they connect and separate it every day, and there are also times when you can go to the bridge. Anyway, it is quite interesting to come and see. By the way, there are people selling water on the bridge, but there is no other payment method, only cash.
The light show at night is wonderful, and the middle of the bridge is made up of boats
There is a small loudspeaker on the Guangji Bridge, which keeps introducing the history of the Guangji Bridge and the historical relics and stories on each pier and pavilion. You can sit down, enjoy the breeze and listen to the stories.
The ticket for Guangji Bridge is 20 yuan per person. Cash, Alipay, and WeChat are supported. The ticket can be used as a postcard. After checking the ticket in the scenic area, there is a mailbox at the exit, which can be sent directly. I have received the postcard! But my friend seems to have not received it yet. There are 30 bridge pavilions on Guangji Bridge, 12 of which are palace-style pavilions and 18 are miscellaneous pavilions. There are also craftsmen setting up stalls in the shops on the bridge. There were originally two iron bulls on Guangji Bridge, standing on the east and west beam bridges, and the latter was washed away by the flood and its whereabouts are unknown. Now there is only one independent west bridge eighth pier. Guangji Bridge Iron Bull is an important part of Guangji Bridge. Hanjiang River is frequently flooded and the bridge is repeatedly damaged. People hope that the iron bull will suppress the water and reduce the flood.
When I arrived at Guangji Bridge, I found out that it would not open until 10 o'clock, so I went to the Han Wengu Temple next to it, but found out that it was also closed. I almost fainted at that time, so I went to the Normal University next to it. After 10 o'clock, I went to Guangji Bridge. There were many temples and couplets. There was also a light show at 9 o'clock in the evening, which lasted only 10 minutes and was also very beautiful. The ticket price was 20 yuan for adults and 10 yuan for children. The ticket was a postcard!
Opposite Guangji Tower is Guangji Bridge. Guangji Bridge is different from the bridges we usually see. There is a small pavilion every few dozen meters where you can stop and rest. Each pavilion is very delicately built. And with the blue sky and clear water, it looks very pleasing to the eye. The effect of the photo is also very beautiful. Standing on Guangji Bridge and watching the flowing water, it is really refreshing and refreshing. The city in the distance has become a small miniature. Occasionally, a ray of green mountains emerges at the junction of the sky and the water. Looking at the scenery and humming a song will make you feel better. A small statue whose name is unknown, ugly and cute, fat and cute, it is said that the statue is called the Iron Bull.
According to my friend, the light show starts at 8 or 9 o'clock, and there will be a lot of people if it's early, so after eating hot pot, I walked over slowly. The light show is very beautiful, but I am not very interested in it, so I just watched it and left.
There is an article about bridges by Mao Yisheng in the elementary school textbook. Various bridge-building methods are integrated into this bridge... In short, it is a treasure of Chinese bridge science!
When I searched for Chaozhou on the Internet, I saw a picture of this bridge. I thought it was really beautiful, but I didn’t expect the river to be so wide, which made it even more shocking.
The Guangji Tower on the city wall near the shore of Chaozhou City is as majestic as the dragon head of the Guangji Bridge. On the plaque facing the Han River on the top of the tower is written "The First City of Lingdong". It can be imagined that this city in Guangdong at that time relied on the Han River as a moat and accompanied by a city wall. People from Fujian had to pass under the city when they came to Guangdong. The style of a towering important place
The gentle light of Guangji Bridge after lighting up originally looked weak and soft. But the green mountains and clear waters on the opposite side were also turned into gold and silver mountains by the wealthy Chaozhou government. In this way, there was no weakness. It was clearly a steed that was elegant and extraordinary when still and imposing when moving.
This bridge, which has existed for a thousand years, is truly extraordinary... It is hard to imagine how those bridge piers were built on such a wide river, and it is still in use today.
There were originally two bulls on the Guangji Bridge, standing at the east and west bridge piers, but the latter one was washed away by the flood and its whereabouts are unknown. Now there is only one left standing alone at the eighth pier of the west bridge. The bulls on the Guangji Bridge are an important part of the Guangji Bridge. The Hanjiang River is frequently flooded and the bridge is repeatedly damaged. People hope that the bulls can control the water and reduce the floods.
Waiting for the 8 o'clock light show, in order to grab a good position to take pictures, we arrived at the riverside half an hour in advance. There are two shows at 8 o'clock and 9 o'clock every night, each lasting 15 minutes. It is definitely worth the trip. The performance with this thousand-year-old cultural relic, which is still alive (always in use) as the protagonist and the landscape as the supporting role of the canvas, is indescribable.
The weather is not very good to take good photos, the scenery is beautiful, very cultural, must check in
Go to Guangji Bridge to watch the light show. At night, Guangji Bridge and Bijia Mountain opposite are brightly lit, and pedestrians are waiting for the light show to start by the Han River.
There are pavilions and towers of various shapes built on the bridge, and no two are the same.
The only memorial archway on Guangji Bridge is the "Min Bu Wang Archway".
Guangji Bridge, also known as Xiangzi Bridge, is one of the four ancient bridges in China. The most famous thing about this bridge is the connection between the floating bridge and the stone bridge. Mao Yisheng said it was the earliest open-close floating bridge. Ding Yunyuan, the governor, worked the most on this bridge. He was also the one who moved Han Yu's ancestral hall and tomb to the mountain opposite Guangji Bridge.
Just like what is said in the Chinese textbook, the iron ox was originally used to suppress water. Later, it disappeared during the Great Leap Forward in Steel Production. Now there is only one newly cast one left. Every day, I lean on the railing and look into the distance, thinking to myself: I am going to die of the sun.
The Guangji Bridge light show at night, with one at 20:00 and one at 21:00 every night, is quite impressive and worth a visit. If you go late, it will be crowded.
The daily ticket price is 20 per person, and 15 per person on important holidays. The scenery is good and it is also suitable for taking photos and checking in~
Guangji Bridge is a recommended place to visit. It is a characteristic attraction in Chaozhou. There is a floating bridge in the middle composed of 18 wooden boats. At about 5 pm, the wooden boats will be disconnected to allow other boats to pass.
The other side of Guangji Bridge connects to Hanshan Normal College and Han Gong Ancestral Hall. Tickets are required to cross the bridge. Regular tickets are 20 yuan per person and student tickets are 10 yuan per person. So remember to bring your student ID card! The ticket office only accepts student ID cards.
It has a lot of local color, and now there is a light show, which adds a beautiful scenery to Chaozhou's night.
The Guangji Bridge is a combination of a beam bridge, a floating bridge and an arch bridge. It is a unique example of an ancient bridge in my country. With its unique style of "eighteen shuttle boats and twenty-four continents", it is known as one of the four major ancient bridges in China along with the Zhaozhou Bridge in Hebei, the Luoyang Bridge in Fujian and the Marco Polo Bridge in Beijing.
Guangji Bridge was originally named Kangji Bridge. It was first built in the seventh year of Qiandao Period in Southern Song Dynasty (1171 AD) and formed into a pattern of "eighteen shuttle boats and twenty-four islands" in the ninth year of Jiajing Period in Ming Dynasty (1530 AD).
Guangji Bridge has been through many vicissitudes of life and has been severely damaged. The one we see now was restored and rebuilt in the style of the Ming Dynasty in 2003, but it is still worth a visit. As the saying goes: If you go to the tide but don't visit the bridge, your trip is in vain.
