Guanlan Woodblock Print Village

Guanlan Woodblock Print Village is a quiet Hakka ancient village with a history of hundreds of years.
It is the hometown of the famous printmaker Chen Yanqiao. Now it has become a printmaking industry base, gathering many printmaking industry practitioners.
It basically maintains the original rural style, with a strong humanistic and artistic atmosphere.
There aren’t many people living here now, only a few printmaking studios and small shops. The overall atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, and it’s also a good place for sketching.

The predecessor of the Printmaking Village was called Dashuitian Village, which includes two natural villages, Niuhu Xinweichang (also known as Longmenwei) and Dashutian Village. Both villages are places with beautiful scenery. The village is built by the mountains and rivers. The ancient houses, ancestral halls, ponds, ancient wells, and watchtowers all have ancient flavors, forming a unique Hakka residential style. No matter where you go, you can take a lot of good photos. These ancient villages with a bit of ancient flavor and clean and tidy, after introducing modern art, can drive the development of the village, and the villagers will pay more attention to protecting these valuable cultural heritages, avoiding the fate of being replaced by high-rise buildings.

The village is not big, with hills and rivers behind it, so it's nice to take a walk~

No one ever said anything about August. Summer is over, but autumn is not yet here.

The only pure land in Shenzhen. Strolling through the ancient village, I met a beautiful lady. Unfortunately, I don’t have the courage to ask for her contact information… Does anyone know her? Please introduce her. If time could go back, I would not hesitate.

Not bad, very comfortable, the place is not big, you can finish the tour in an hour and a half

If you go this month, there will be no sea of flowers. You can just look at the old houses and finish the tour in an hour.

Guanlan Printmaking Village is a highly recommended place to visit in Shenzhen, especially in spring.

The building is nice, but it is very far from the city. There is nothing to eat there and the studios are closed.

Overall it was OK. It was afternoon when I went there and the weather was a bit hot. It was quite far to take the subway and then the bus. There were many simple houses inside, but they were all studios. I felt there was nothing interesting, just suitable for wandering around.

Before I set off, I read a lot of travel notes about the Printmaking Village. I had high expectations for it. I thought it should be: ancient-style buildings, artistic atmosphere, and artists working everywhere, which can make people feel a sense of freedom and romance. I even encountered a unique little shop at an inadvertent corner. However, the entrance is a bit ordinary. Well, let me go deeper and explore the mystery of the Printmaking Village. The first printmaking studio at the entrance: There are fewer tourists today, and it seems deserted. One of the reasons why the Printmaking Village is famous is that it is a relatively well-preserved Hakka architectural complex with research value. It covers a large area. After walking the whole way, my legs are sore. To be fair, I think Guanlan Printmaking Village gives me an average feeling. It may be because I grew up in a small town, accustomed to farm life and ancient villages, and it is easy to feel nothing for things that are accustomed to.

The ancient town of Shenzhen, below is a sea of flowers. When I went there, it was spring when the rape flowers in Shenzhen were being harvested and other flowers were being planted. Although I didn’t see a sea of flowers, it seems that this kind of farming scenery is also unique in Shenzhen.

By Words |

It is a small Hakka village. In early spring, the fields beside the village are full of rapeseed flowers, and the best viewing period is in February. In summer, the flower fields in the printmaking village are full of sunflowers, and the ancient watchtowers are just like the hometown of the impressionist master Van Gogh. Shenzhen Guanlan Printmaking Original Base was rebuilt and expanded on the basis of the original Hakka village in Shenzhen. Hakka ancient buildings, old houses, and sections of stone walls record pieces of mottled memories. This quiet village, the houses are small and private.

By Sultan |

There are many art studios in the Printmaking Village, which are mainly printmaking. There are also some small shops, such as bookstores and handmade ceramic shops. These small shops are very popular with tourists, especially children. Probably because most of the studios in the village are personal studios, which are basically not open to the public, except for semi-open ones, but they all sell coffee and snacks. The combination of ancient Hakka architecture and modern printmaking workshops has formed a unique cultural element and provided a source of thought for artists' creation. On weekends, many tourists from the surrounding area drive here. In mid-to-early March, you can also see rapeseed flowers here. The alleys of the ancient village still exude an ancient atmosphere in the modern printmaking workshops. Whether it is the walls of the house, bricks and tiles, or the growing flowers and plants, they all give people a sense of vitality. Not only are tourists comfortable to watch, but they also bring inspiration to artists' creations. But to be honest, fortunately, this Guanlan Printmaking Village is free. If tickets are charged, this place is really not enough for people to drive here. First of all, its geographical location is very remote. Secondly, many of the old houses in the Printmaking Village are artists' studios. Tourists cannot go in to appreciate them. Most of them are closed and locked. Secondly, the old houses that are open are basically bookstores and cafes, but there are only two or three. The village is not big. Although it is divided into two large blocks, the area is not large. If you walk around the entire Printmaking Village, it will take about 60 minutes. There is no sign of life in the village. If there are noisy tourists, the Printmaking Village will appear cold. But this just creates a good creative environment for artists. If you like printmaking, Shenzhen Guanlan Printmaking Village is worth a visit.

I really like to go to such ancient villages to collect folk songs. Because there are few people, it is quiet and has a special artistic atmosphere. My fate with the Printmaking Village should be from a boring weekend afternoon when I searched Baidu for fun places nearby. At first, when I saw the three words "Printmaking Village", I really didn't have the urge to go. If Jiaojiao hadn't been bored and insisted on dragging me there, I might have missed it.

Guanlan Woodcut Village, one of the top ten Hakka ancient villages in Shenzhen, is located in Niuhu Community, Guanlan Street, Longhua District, Shenzhen, the hometown of Chen Yanqiao, a pioneer of China's emerging woodcut movement, famous printmaker and art theorist.

Don't think that a printmaking village must have many painters. In fact, it is not. What we see is an ancient village. Its architectural style is a typical Hakka row house, so it is particularly Guangdong-style. Hakka ancient houses, watchtowers and towers are scattered throughout the ancient village. There is also a vegetable and strawberry planting base, where you can do it yourself and have enough food and clothing.

We arrived at the printmaking village at around 11 o'clock in the morning. Most of the people there were from the same group. There were not many other people. Most of the houses inside were printmaking studios or printmaking shops. The houses had white walls and gray tiles, and green plants could be seen everywhere. It had a kind of petty bourgeois and fresh feeling. When we went there in the morning, only 2 doors were open, and the others were closed. I don't know if it was a free and refreshing store opening model. It only took 0.5-1 hour to finish the tour. I walked around with the group for a while, but in the end I still didn't know what printmaking was.

The ancient village with a literary atmosphere is suitable for a stroll with your besties.

By hobo* |

Although it is not big, it is retro and artistic, far away from the hustle and bustle, and there are not many people. It is suitable for taking pictures, walking around, and reading a book. It is not suitable for wearing shorts or skirts, as there are many small insects.

By A long way to go |

I've been there several times. There used to be a lot of prints, but now it's become commercialized. There's a nice sea of flowers.

Here I am only targeting the pottery in the painting. It is a scam. I spent 118 yuan to make pottery, but I haven't received it for a month. I called and my phone was disconnected. I added them on WeChat four or five times before they added me. I finally received the item, but it was a defective product. I went to argue with them on WeChat for a day but they didn't reply. Later, they told me that baking is risky and they don't bear the risk. I want to say that if you don't have the skills, why do you open a store? Do I have to accept that the product is broken? They refused to refund my money after repeated communication. I have already filed a complaint and attached pictures. Welcome everyone to popularize my rights protection knowledge. Thank you.

The ancient Hakka dwellings, prints created by artists, beautiful flower fields, and farm fruit and vegetable gardens are all worth seeing and suitable for taking photos. It has a strong humanistic and artistic atmosphere.

By Xiaoshengniji |

It's nice to take a walk and relax. It's suggested to open a road in the middle of the sea of flowers, otherwise it's too far away and can only be used as a background for taking pictures. There is also a stinky ditch in the middle, which feels very speechless... I don't have much perception of folk customs/prints, maybe because it's before the festival, they are all closed ~ Overall it's not bad ~

Suddenly, I wanted to go to Guanlan Woodblock Print Village, so I came here with my friends. The blue sky and white clouds, green trees and red flowers, yellow walls, low tile houses, old trees, and gurgling streams are full of artistic atmosphere.

Tips:

1. It is best to travel by car. Transportation is inconvenient, there are only buses, no taxis, and no Didi.

2. Choose a sunny day to go out and play. The weather in Shenzhen is suitable in autumn and winter.

3. There are many beautiful prints. Friends who are interested will definitely like it here.

Departure point: Honglang North, Shenzhen Transportation: Subway + bus (2 hours). It is worth visiting for friends in Shenzhen on weekends. The place is not big, but the buildings are indeed quaint and it is a good place for photography.

What greeted me was a snow-white wall, pink walls and black tiles, simple and elegant. When people suddenly come here from the world of cement, steel and concrete, they will feel a strong visual impact. This sudden sensory experience made me dizzy for 3 seconds.

The moss-covered foot of the wall gives off a feeling of being in an ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River. The air is filled with ancient charm.

By Jason·Warm Mountain |

It's OK, a village that retains its original style, not very big, we had to take a 2-hour drive to get there. The scenery feels just so-so, in my opinion.

By GapMonths |

Shenzhen Guanlan Printmaking Village does not require tickets; even on weekends, it is a relatively quiet place, especially suitable for parent-child and family travel; you can take real literary and classical photos here, and you will see many girls wearing cheongsam along the way.

It was November when we went there, and the flower gardens were closed, so we couldn't enjoy the sight of huge tracts of flowers blooming. It would be more beautiful in spring or summer. The village is not big, and an afternoon is enough to walk around and stop.

There are bookstores, coffee shops, and handmade clay shops, so you can spend a lazy afternoon there even if you don't want to walk around.

By Bay Bay 10 |

You can bring a book here to read on weekends. It is quiet and comfortable.

By Bobby Bear-Xiaojudeng Technology |

It's really OK, but it's a little small. If it were bigger, there would be more places to visit.

By Wandering water drops |

The quaint Hakka village tells its history through its architecture. Walking among the old houses and looking at the traces of history left here, I feel a little sad and a little amazed.

By Smoke is late |

The quaint buildings seem particularly quiet in this bustling city. There were not many people there when I went there, so it was suitable for taking pictures. The pictures don’t need any modification and look like a simple painting.

By Normal Mind |

Afraid of traffic jams, I set out at 8 o'clock this morning. Fortunately, the weather and roads were good. It took 30 minutes to get from Nantou to the Printmaking Village, which was planned to take an hour. The gate is very distinctive, and most of the red wood is sold next to it. Cars cannot be parked in the scenic area, but there are many public parking lots near the gate, free of charge. Thumbs up! Entering the scenic area, I found that it is presented in the form of Hakka dwellings + art, combining history with modernity and artistic inheritance. It is interesting. The most dynamic thing is that there are still cultivated land around the dwellings, and people working in the fields are used to the arrival of tourists. While appreciating the prints, Hakka dwellings, and Diaolou, everyone can also find vegetable fields, fish ponds, sugarcane, and orchards that are rare in the city. It is a good place for leisure.

Shenzhen Guanlan Original Printmaking Base is a renovation and expansion of the original Hakka village in Shenzhen, located in Niuhu Community, Guanlan Street, Bao'an District, Shenzhen. The printmaking village is integrated with the Hakka ancient village, integrating the Hakka cultural theme into modern landscape elements. It combines modern printmaking workshops with Hakka ancient villages, forming unique cultural elements and providing a source of ideas for artists' creation. People call it "the most beautiful village in Shenzhen."

In 2014, 2015 and 2016, I visited the Printmaking Base every April. The houses in the Printmaking Base are antique, and the rhododendrons are particularly eye-catching in April. The antique houses and the dazzling rhododendrons are so beautiful!

The printmaking village is just average... all the prints are not famous, and there are many people during festivals. There is a printmaking museum nearby, which is very artistic and the prints are very unique, but it's a pity that I didn't have time to see them. The closing time is quite early, go early! !

By Su Muzhe |

The village is a bit small, and it only took more than an hour to visit. The Printmaking Village is one of the few ancient villages in Shenzhen. It retains the intact Hakka architecture and is said to be "the most beautiful village in Shenzhen". The Printmaking Village is famous for its prints, and every household makes prints. Prints, as the name suggests, are works drawn or carved on a wooden board with a knife or pen. There are not many tourists in the Printmaking Village, but there are foreigners who come to visit in groups of three or two.

Take the Longhua Line to the farthest Qinghu Station, then take bus 338 to Niuhu Bus Station (339 is also OK). To the north is Guanlan Street, and further north is the Printmaking Village, which means you have to cross Guanlan Street to get there.

I thought I had reached the suburbs before. Although the Printmaking Village is on the other side of Guanlan, I subconsciously thought it was a new area with a large area and few people. Although there are many stations, it should be smooth. I was wrong. Guanlan is like Shenzhen scaled down. There are too many people and the roads are very congested. So please be prepared to spend more than 4 hours from Shenzhen to Guanlan....

I just went there last week. I went there very early, around 10 o'clock, and there were not many people. It was very quiet. Walking in it, I could feel the rare tranquility in Shenzhen, a bustling international metropolis. It happened to be after the rain when I went there, the sky was particularly blue and the air was very good. There are some strawberry farms around, and it is the time to pick strawberries. While playing, you can also experience the leisurely rural life.

After so many years in Shenzhen, it was my first time to go to Guanlan Printmaking Village. It was really nice, but it was too far away. It took more than two hours to get there from Nanshan. I was tired from the ride, but after arriving at the destination, I walked in happily, took a look, and took a few photos. It started to drizzle after just a few minutes. It’s okay, it was nice to look around in the drizzle, but... the drizzle turned into heavy rain, and I couldn’t continue to visit, so I found a pavilion to shelter from the rain. It was almost an hour and the rain didn’t stop, so I could only take the bus home dejectedly. It was a pity that I didn’t finish the visit.

By ~~The Thorn Birds~ |

I went there on a non-weekend day, and there were almost no people. It was very quiet and artistic. The old houses were well preserved and not commercialized yet. It was a good place to go alone.

Guanlan Printmaking Village is located in Guanlan, Bao'an District, a certain distance from the city. At that time, I took a bus to Yinhu Bus Station and then changed to a bus to arrive. The weather was not very good when we went there. It was drizzling in the sky. I wanted to give up, but in the end, everyone said that since everything was already decided, let's go. Fortunately, it rained, so there were very few people that day, and with the drizzle, I felt that this small village that has not been developed was more peaceful and more likable. At the door, you can see the red eye-catching sign at the door of the Printmaking Village. When we entered the village, we visited one by one, feeling that every room should not be missed, and each room discovered the classical beauty, such as doors, tiles, and door locks, which can show the wisdom of ancient people. There are also some studios and calligraphy exhibitions in the village, and everyone stood there silently to appreciate them. There is a large flower field behind the village, and different ornamental crops will be planted according to the seasons. Unknowingly, three hours have passed, and we have spent a comfortable and relaxing day here. If you are a little tired of the fast life in the city, you might as well come to Shuyuan on weekends. This is indeed a good place to go on weekends.

Due to my miscalculation, my original plan to go to Guangzhou was ruined. The Printmaking Village is quite far away, so in my backup plan, I would have to go to Shenzhen North, which is known as the last piece of pure land in Shenzhen. So, I started pianB

As for whether it is worth going, I can only say that you feel calm when you go to the Printmaking Village, and then you feel irritated again when you return to Shenzhen. I was at Shenzhen North at 12 o'clock, and it was probably after 17 o'clock when I got back to Shenzhen North. I didn't get off at Shenzhen North, but it was already 5:40 when I arrived at Xili Metro Station. It's too tiring, so if you are not really artistic, you'd better not go there to improve your B-style

Located in Niuhu Community, Guanlan, Longgang, it is said to have a total area of 300,000 square meters. This is a natural village with two areas of Hakka ancient houses. It is surrounded by small hills, farmlands and lush bamboo forests. It is the hometown of printmaker Chen Yanqiao. There are walled houses, carved buildings, fish ponds and ditches, as well as a stage square, a big banyan tree, a leisure bar, a pavilion, a bookstore and painting studio, an ancient well porch, and a historic wall. It is a good place for a day of play and leisure.

The Printmaking Village is free to visit and the transportation is relatively convenient, but the journey is relatively far. There are some relatively old buildings inside, which are suitable for friends who love photography. It can take two or three hours to take a leisurely walk around. It may feel better to go there in spring. There are also places to eat and a small book bar, but there is a lot of space and many books. Ordering a drink and staying there for a day in the summer is also a very wonderful enjoyment!

By Wake up and fall asleep without knowing it |

The Printmaking Village is not big, three hours is enough, but it is a bit far from Guanlan, and it is not easy to go there. It is suitable for a family or a couple to take a walk and have a look on the weekend. There are many children and a bunch of beauties experiencing printmaking there. The village is quite quiet.

By Bliss |

I really like this place. There are old houses, lakes, a sea of flowers, and a strawberry garden. You can pick strawberries and vegetables by yourself. They are all grown by the locals. It makes me feel like a quiet mountain village. Perhaps because of the unique atmosphere and charm here, many artists have their own studios here and choose to create here. This place can bring them a lot of creative inspiration. There are also program crews coming here to shoot TV. There are a lot of people on weekends, but you can experience the quiet atmosphere here on weekdays. It is a good place to relax.

Printmaking Village is a typical ancient village inhabited by Hakka people. Built by the mountains and rivers, the ancient village is in the form of row houses, ponds, ancient wells, ancestral halls, and quaint towers, forming a unique Hakka living style. The village is surrounded by towering trees, and subtropical plants such as coconut trees, mango trees, and banyan trees are connected in patches, creating a pleasant, quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

Guanlan Woodcut Village, this renowned Hakka village, is a piece of pure land hidden deep in the bustling city. It is the hometown of Chen Yanqiao, a pioneer of China's emerging woodcut movement, famous printmaker and art theorist. People call it "the most beautiful village in Shenzhen."

There are some old houses, which are quite suitable for taking pictures.

It's quite far, to be honest. I went there in July, maybe the time was wrong, it didn't feel as good as I imagined. If you go in March or April, there are rape flowers there~~~

It is a place with a lot of historical charm, with flower fields, lotus ponds, and many historical buildings. It is a place for publishing paintings, and many painters' studios are there. I have to say that a painting is really expensive, and it is the result of the painter's hard work. Friends who love art can have a feast for their eyes.

I started from Luohu and took the subway and then the bus. I spent all my time in the car. The environment is OK. It is not too big or too small. It was built in the middle and late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. It is well preserved. There are lavender seedlings. My favorite is the Hechi lotus. There are relatively few people and it is very remote. The recommendation index is two stars~~~

At the gate of the relatively exquisite and slightly lively courtyard, I was stopped by the security guard. He said that the artists were resting inside and there were valuable works of art inside. I left in a huff like a child being coaxed. Shouldn't the Printmaking Village be famous for its prints? But it is far inferior to the Oil Painting Village. The art here is all shelved. The doors are tightly closed. They are all studios. But will the Printmaking Village eventually become a tourist attraction in the name of a group of Hakka ancient villages? I still prefer the plaque with the words "Printmaking Village" in the bushes.
